Worries: First 2020 Presidential Debate Tonight

We’ll admit it – we’re worried for two and one-half reasons about tonight’s debate. Tonight’s debate at 9 p.m. ET should have President Trump as the victor but we are very worried. But unlike the worry warts and ratings hunters like Tucker/Ingraham/Hannity who love to exploit worry and fear for personal profit we have solutions not just worries.

Our number one worry goes back to something Ross Perot said about debates. Perot rightly noted that in a boxing ring there are three people – the two combatants and the referee. If the referee is not neutral or fair the battle is over before it begins.

Tonight the “referee” is Chris Wallace. Wallace hates President Trump and President Trump has insulted Wallace on several occasions due to Wallace’s bias and outright Trump hatred.

Chris Wallace knows that the first half hour of the debate will be crucial because many voters only watch for the first half hour out of curiosity. It might not be the case this election cycle but the first half hour is very important as is the last half hour because some viewers might tune in only at the very end of the ninety minute debate.

Chris Wallace hates President Trump so Wallace might try to make Biden look good or even attack President Trump with a phony “fact check”. Wallace and Fox News (Trump haters all) will also want to demonstrate to viewers how “impartial” Fox News is and the way to get great publicity from leftist Big Media outlets is to protect Biden and attack President Trump.

Our second big worry is that if President Trump tells the truth about Slow Sleepy Joe it will appear as elder abuse. Joe Biden is a mental vegetable but pointing that out and/or forcing Sleepy Joe Biden to face the harsh truth of his vegetative state might induce sympathy in voters watching the debate.

A lesser worry is that Biden has rested this entire campaign while President Trump is very active. Biden has prepared his attack plan very well and rehearsed non-stop. This is smart for Biden. We’re not that worried about this aspect of the debate because President Trump knows how to adlib and is very quick on his feet. As long as President Trump has a strategy for the debate he will do very well.

What should President Trump do? He should attack Sleepy Biden in ways not expected.

First, President Trump should ask why Joe Biden has yet to give his blessings to, and visit Hunter Biden’s bastard child. President Trump should note that Biden and hypocrite Obama Dimocrats always talk about women and oppression of women but that in this case Biden has remained silent as Hunter Biden abused the mother of his bastard child.

President Trump should threaten Biden by saying that if Biden does not visit and bless Hunter’s bastard child President Trump will show up at Biden’s Delaware house with the mother and child and confront Biden the hypocrite. It would also not hurt to tell the audience watching how Hunter Biden was thrown out of the Navy for being a crackhead, then left his own wife to screw the wife of Beau Biden, then dumped Beau Biden’s widow in order to smoke crack and impregnate a stripper, then lied in court about not being the father of the bastard child, refusing to pay child support for the little bastard, then dumping them all to get married to another woman. Americans have not heard those facts.

We’ll add another worry at this point. And that is that the truth from President Trump will be so shocking and so difficult to believe that many will not think it is possible. Big Media has kept most of the Joe Biden facts hidden from the public that many Americans have never heard the truth about Biden before.

As to “issues”. President Trump should demand Joe Biden call on all Obama Dimocrat senators to meet with Amy Coney Barrett. Also, President Trump should demand that Biden denounce the anti-Catholic bias of Feinstein and friends.

On the “tax” attacks from the New York Times on the eve of the debate, President Trump should confess to taking millions from the wife of the mayor of Moscow and then correct himself and announce that it was Hunter Biden that took the millions from Moscow. That should open up attacks against James Biden and the rest of the crooked Biden family. President Trump should also ask Biden how he became rich with only a government salary for 47 years.

What removes our worries is looking back at the debates in 2016. Candidate Trump destroyed Harvard trained debaters such as Cruz and demolished the rest of the top Republican field, as well as eventually – Hillary Clinton. President Trump also has a record now which includes massive Middle East peace achievements, destruction of ISIS, death of killers, a MAGA economy, proof he has been right all along about China and their deadly threat to America, the WALL and crushing illegal immigration, innovative methods to combat Chinese CoronaVirus, the phony RussiaRussiaRussia corruptions of Obama/Biden, and the return to LAW AND ORDER.

To sum up, President Trump’s enemy tonight is Big Media, not the feeble Joe Biden who will be pumped up with Dr. Feelgood shots of amphetamines.

  9. I am worried I would laugh myself simple to think a 74 year-old-man could commit elder abuse of a 77 year-old-man. And Trump needs to stand up for the grandchild. I will throw rose petals for him if he can do that effectively.

I guess some would say it’s been happening since the 60’s and campuses have been breeding grounds for anti-american indoctrination. I guess I was lucky as I went to public school , one state university and a private law school. and never was really exposed to it. Looking back, I can see I had some very liberal professors but nothing like we see today.

  22. I just can’t see a good outcome the cheating with ballots not being able to line up in person for voting…they’re going to steal it. In NJ you can line up to drop your ballot off on Election Day but you can’t line up to vote… it all makes no sense. I just hope the people we need to see through it can. It’s going to come down to turnout, but even then there’s been so much fucking around we won’t know the results for weeks. The next month is going to be horrific.. I’m usually more optimistic but I just don’t see a good outcome. I hope I’m just having a bad day.

I know a day in politics is like a year, and a month is a long way away anything can change and I hope it does. Biden hiding in the basement media not even trying to ask him questions. If trump can pull this off it will be miraculous. The tax crap he should have addressed it years ago then it would have been a nothing burger. It’s always the cover up makes it worst than it is.

  37. Biden is already flailing. After PDT questioned his numbers Biden started talking about ObamaCare. Then Roe V. Wade is Biden’s topic. Biden is frustrated as PDT continues to question him.

    Wallace comes to Biden’s rescue by aligning with Biden on the Supreme Court hearing on the ObamaCare case. PDT talks over Wallace and Wallace tries to assert control. PDT says “I guess I’m debating you, not him.” Then PDT attacks Biden’s ObamaCare record.

    Wallace then asks Biden about his ObamaCare expansion plan. Biden tries to avoid an honest answer. PDT then brings up how Biden and Sanders signed an agreed upon plan. Biden denies the plan. PDT responds “you just lost the left”.

    PDT then gets a chance to declare that he got rid of the individual mandate of ObamaCare. PDT says ObamaCare is a disaster.

    Biden says PDT has no plan, denies PDT has lowered costs, “he doesn’t have a plan.”

    Wallace then finally asks Biden about packing the court. Wallace asks Biden to give his position on ending the filibuster and packing the court. Biden asks people to vote and refuses to answer. PDT tells Biden he won’t answer the questions about where he stands.

    Biden has a really nice tie though.

    Biden attacks PDT for shutting down economy. Biden fumbles prediction numbers but no one calls him on it.

    Wallace then attacks PDT for attacking some of his own advisers. PDT says he has disagreements with some advisers but gets the job done. Biden then says PDT talks about bleach.

    Wallace cites CaCaMala Harris talking against a potential vaccine. Biden gets corrected on what Harris said. Biden accuses PDT of lying about CoronaVirus.

    PDT tells Biden not to use the word “smart” to him. PDT mentions some Biden lies about how smart he is.

    Wallace says Biden is against reopenings. Biden says its because PDT has no plan.

    PDT says he wants to reopen the country not shut it down. PDT says elderly with other problems are most vulnerable. PDT says we’ve learned how to reopen safely.

    Wallace starts to talk about masks and why PDT doesn’t like him. PDT mocks Biden’s mask use when unnecessary. PDT reminds Biden that Fauci and many others have spoken against mask use. Biden denies that.

    Wallace asks PDT about his rallies. PDT says people like his outdoor rallies with tremendous crowds. Biden says PDT is irresponsible. PDT responds Biden can’t get crowds.

    Biden responds that he will eliminate the Trump tax cuts. PDT asks “Why didn’t you do that during your 47 years?”

    Wallace asks Biden about his plans which include 4 trillion for those making over $400,000. Biden says his plan would create jobs, and “buy American”. Says corporate tax should go up to 28%. PDT says Biden didn’t do it during his 47 years.

    Wallace says that the final years of Obama were better than the Trump years for jobs. PDT says under Obama it was the slowest recovery ever. PDT says with Biden’s tax increase there would be a depression and companies would flee. Biden then says PDT hurt manufacturing jobs. Says “I’m the guy” who brought back jobs. PDT points out that Obama said a magic wand would be needed to bring back the manufacturing jobs PDT in fact brought back.

    PDT says China “ate your lunch”. Says Hunter Biden got money from China. Asks why Hunter Biden got millions from Moscow’s mayor’s wife. Biden says it is not true. Biden says his son did nothing wrong. PDT repeats the millions from Moscow.

    Biden says 5 states use mail in ballots. Says PDT doesn’t want votes counted. Wallace says in past many ballots are thrown out. Wallace asks if Biden is concerned Amy Coney Barrett will throw the election to PDT.

    Wallace asks why states can’t process ballots early so election night might stretch long after. “Will you urge your supporters to stay calm and not declare early victory?” PDT responds that even poll watchers are not allowed in Philadelphia. Will not allow a fraudulent election. Says “they cheat”. Talks about Trump ballots found in garbage.

    Biden says ballots can’t be counted early so vote counting will take time. Biden says he will accept election results and so will PDT.

  74. I think he handled Wallace just fine. Several hours ago, I speculated that Wallace would be his main opponent. Biden was pathetic—chicken little—the sky is falling in—vote for me because I have had 47 years in government, done nothing constructive, etc. Trump got in a lot of left jabs and a few hard punches. Biden was out on his feet, reciting memborzed lines and whining.

    Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden on Tuesday repeatedly denied his son Hunter Biden got $3.5 million from the widow of Moscow’s former mayor during the first presidential debate.

    Biden, the former vice president, broadly defended Hunter’s controversial business relationships in China, Russia and Ukraine — while specifically denying the large alleged payment, first disclosed last week.

    “China ate your lunch, Joe, and no wonder — your son your son goes in and he takes out, he takes out billions of dollars, takes out billions of dollars to manage. He makes millions of dollars,” Trump said, referring to a business deal reached after Hunter accompanied his father to China aboard Air Force Two.

    “Simply not true,” Biden said.

    “And also, while we’re at it: Why is it just, out of curiosity, the mayor of Moscow, his wife gave your son $3.5 million,” Trump said, referring to a bombshell allegation in a 87-page report from the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

    Elena Baturina, the richest woman in Russia and the widow of Yury Luzhkov, the former mayor of Moscow, allegedly made the transfer in 2014.

    “What did he do to deserve it?” Trump pressed Biden. “What did he do with Burisma to deserve $183,000?” he added, referring to the Ukraine energy firm that employed Biden’s son while he led the Obama administration’s Ukraine policy.

    Trump’s request that Ukraine investigate the dealings of the former vice president and his son resulted in his impeachment in December. Republican senators acquitted Trump in February of abusing his power and obstructing Congress.

    In Ukraine, Hunter Biden earned $83,333 monthly on the board of the energy company Burisma Holdings, despite no relevant industry experience.

    “None of that is true … It’s totally discredited, totally discredited,” Biden said at the debate.

    Trump piped over him: “Well, wait, he didn’t get $3.5 million, Joe? He got $3.5 million”

    “Oh really? Oh …. No, it is a fact,” Trump insisted.

    “It is not a fact. It’s been totally discredited,” Biden said.

    “My son didn’t, did nothing wrong with Burisma … He doesn’t want to let me answer because he knows I have the truth,” Biden said.

    “He stood up and he threatened Ukraine with $1 billion if you don’t get rid of the prosecutor… you’re on tape doing it,” Trump said of Biden’s withholding of loan guarantees to force out a prosecutor.

    “That is absolutely not true,” Biden said.

    Hunter Biden, 50, is a recovering drug user and father of four, including a child whose fatherhood was recently determined in a court case. He briefly dated his late brother Beau Biden’s widow and last month introduced his father at the Democratic National Convention.

    Joe Biden is the gift to Conservatives that keeps on giving and Tuesday night’s Presidential Debate was no exception. Under a banner reading “The Union and the Constitution Forever,” I’ve never seen two candidates come out swingin’ so quickly. It was a fight from the start and Biden, despite his unpatriotic black-and-white tie, was the one bleeding.

    Joe’s blunders began almost instantly. When asked why President Trump should not nominate a replacement to Justice Ginsberg, Joe invalidated the 2016 election claiming the American people were “not going to get that chance” to have their say in the selection of a judge.

    Feel that, America? You just got slapped across the face.

    But Joe’s first proper blunder was claiming Roe v Wade was on the ballot in the courts. Trump and I had the same reaction? Ummmm. We looked like my kitten when she’s puzzled and cocks her head to one side.

    Within the first 10 minutes, Trump’s strong personality and message had moderator, Chris Wallace’s, voice was shaking with anger and Biden laughing, visibly flustered. By moving them to emotion, Trump instantly gained the upper hand. Kudos, Mr. President, kudos.

    Blunder #2: “Everybody knows [Trump’s] a liar.”

    Am I the only one who noticed Biden’s inability to look Trump in the eye when he said it?

    Blunder #3: “I’m not going to answer the question.”

    Isn’t that the entire point of a debate!?

    Blunder #4: “Would you shut up, man.”

    I let out a piercing scream (of delight!) and my husband ran into the bedroom to say, “Joe’s just lost. He just told the President to ‘shut up’. If he has that much disdain for the office of the Presidency, how’s he going to protect the common man.”

    Blunder #5: “[Covid-19] is what it is, because you are who you are.”

    Suddenly, the virus is about one man’s personality. This from the party that keeps yelling about science, science, science.

    Blunder #6: “There’s millions of scientists, there’s thousands of scientists, who don’t work for him.”

    Joe’s one homerun swing was to look into the camera and talk to the folks at home, like some kind of Fireside Chat instead of a Presidential debate. His mistake was using the word “smart.”

    Trump jumped on him, “”Did you say ‘smart’…Don’t ever use the word smart with me. There’s nothing smart about you, Joe.”

    Joe had no response.

    Blunder #7: “If I were running, I’d know what the plan was.”

    Wait, did Joe just say if I was running!?

    That’s exactly the Republican’s point. He doesn’t seem to be trying to run at all!

    Blunder #8: “Will you just shush for a minute.”

    Trump proved again his great timing as a comedian when he noted that Biden’s rallies are much smaller not because of Covid-19 but because “Nobody will show up.”

    Biden, God love him, laughed. It was almost as good as the “Cause you would be in jail” moment from the 2016 Trump/Clinton debate.

    Blunder #9: “I’m going to eliminate the Trump tax cuts.”

    You hear that, Mr. and Mrs. American? Small business owners? Freelancers like me?

    Blunder #10: “You’re the worst President America’s ever had.”

    Trump’s instant response: “I’ve done more in 47 months than you did in 47 years.” Burn!

    Blunder #11: “We handed him a booming economy. He blew it.”

    Even Chris Wallace caught that one, correcting Joe Biden.

    At this point, I began feeling sorry for VP Biden. They weren’t equally matched and then Trump brought up Hunter and my empathy went away. With his head hanging, Joe tried…oh, how he tried to defend he whole Burisma thing.

    Blunder #12: “None of that is true. None of that is true. Totally discredited. And by the way…It is not true….His position has been totally discredited.”

    I would say, “God help us all” but fortunately, Donald Trump is doing his usual spectacular job in the debate and, if you look deep in your heart, you know he’ll win with ease on November 3rd.

    Wallace definitely favored & covered for Biden…Biden interrupted too

    I think the format needed tweaking…You can’t have Biden lobbing all these attacks & insults on PDT & then not give him…or his opponent…a chance to respond…Wallace just cut it off & PDT had no recourse but to talk over Wallace or leave the attacks & lies on the floor

    imo the main reason they kept interrupting each other was because Wallace did not give them a chance to respond to the attacks…most debates do…

    I do think PDT missed a few opportunities…he needs to do a better job at making the distinction between the Absentee Ballot & the Unsolicited Ballot…he did once but then the issue even with Wallace got conflated again as if they were the same thing…they are not…He definitely should have brought up all the Ballot Harvesting & paying for Ballots going on with Ilan Omar…big missed opportunity

    also when Wallace turned to PDT re: the race question…PDT pivoted to Law & Order…I would have liked to hear him talk about all he has done for AA community…the colleges, Second Chance, pardons, Opportunity Zones etc etc…also telling Poor Boys to “stand by” was not the choice of words he needed…he could have been firm on that & then pivoted to BLM & Antifa as he did

    PDT & Covid he could have done a better job describing his MOBILIZATION of resources with Govt & private companies & using the govt mandate with private industry to convert in the emergency, the cupboard for PPE was bare from Biden, the Navy Hospitals, the PPE PDT marshalled together for distribuition, the ventilators, the Dem Governors killing the SENIORS with their terrible policies… etc ALSO PDT missed the opportunity to point out to Biden that he has already DONE MANY OF THE THINGS BIDEN says he will do…

    also…Wallace prefaced many of his questions towards Trump with news info that ‘contradicted’ Trump…he did not do that with Biden…for ex when Hunter Biden came up, he let Biden get away with saying that it had all been discredited when in fact it is in this weeks news…

    Biden’s strategy is to dismiss PDT as a joke & a liar & avoid any eye contact with him & address the camera straight on to talk to the audience…that is what he has been instructed to do to keep his focus & AVOID debating with PDT…act as if PDT is not there…I can hear his team telling him that…

    I wish i could have fast forwarded thru much of it…

  84. The debate was a horror to sit thru. Why don’t the Republicans have enough clout to get a decent or more pro Trump moderator for the Fox debate to balance the other partisan debates that will follow?

    Biden resorted to name calling at least four times, calling Trump a clown twice and a liar at least twice. I don’t think surburban women are going to like that. Trump resisted resorting to cringe worthy name calling so I’m proud of him for having that under control. Biden embarrassed himself.

    However, Trump missed a huge opportunity when their records on the economy, race and climate change were asked. Trump should have stressed that under Obama /Biden the middle class shrunk and under Trump the middle class is growing again, his great record on minority employment, and his foreign policy successes. He also needed to say that the Paris accord gave China…the worlds greatest poluter…a free pass to continue.

    There is no doubt in my mind that Trump wins a fair election but the massive mail in voter fraud is well under way and I’m terrified.

    After all, Biden was a central figure in coup to bring down his presidency, e.g. the Logan Act, the obstruction of the Trump agenda, and the scurrilous personal remarks he has made. Worst of all Biden is 100% corrupt, and his history of self dealing is a matter of record, which he refuses to acknowledge. Finally, Biden pretends to be a moderate, but has in fact forged a devil’s pact with the radical left whose sole objective is to destroy this nation, and when he is asked pointed questions whether he would transmogify the nation by eliminating the electoral college thereby eliminating the voice of rural America, or pack the supreme court with left wing judges he changes the subject. Biden is not merely contemptible. He is beneath contempt.

It gets down to the three things we ask about when dealing with eye witnesses–namely, their ability to hear what was said, to understand it, and to accurately recollect it at a later date. No one who believes Biden won the debate can pass those three tests, whether because of personal bias, or the lack of mental acuity, or both.

  103. Its easy to second guess. There are things Trump could have said, but did not get around to saying. Some wish he had done so, on the assumption that if he had that would have swung those undecided 4-6 % who are undecided. How do we know there are those undecided? The same way we know the polls are scientific, even though 61% of people are reluctant to tell strangers, like pollsters, how they will vote. To that I would say this: nobody stays neutral any longer than they can stand it, and with the 24-7 news coverage we have today people are plugged in as never before. So the question should probably be not whether he persuaded that hypothetical 4-6 %, but whether he succeeded in rallying his base. The answer to that question is a definite yes, and Biden’s hissy fits and evasions confirmed it.

    The optics were terrible for Biden too –he looked like an old, frail man who needed Wallace’s help. That’s why Hispanics said Trump won by a 2 to 1 ratio. Machismo > Soy.

When we get to the third debate, Trump’s closing statement should emphasize promises made and promises kept, to underscore the point that he has done more for the American people in 47 months than Biden has done in 47 years—which should be the final thing he says before the election, so it is fresh in their minds–those who have not already voted.

  107. I thought Trump utterly dominated the debate, but I was worried that his constant interruptions, and his sparring with Wallace, hurt him.

    Then I asked my wife for her opinion.

    My wife, the quintessential suburban housewife, is a political novice, and has no idea who Chris Wallace is. She was not aware that Wallace hates Trump’s guts.

    She was not bothered at all by Trump’s interruptions.

    She said, “It looked to me like the moderator was trying to help Biden. So Trump apparently realized he was debating two opponents, not just one.

    I asked her if she thought suburban housewives would be turned off by Trump’s performance.

    She replied, “Not at all. Women like a strong, outspoken man who will fight.”

    I should mention that my wife does not particularly like Trump, nor does she adhere to any particular political ideology. But she will be voting for him.

  112. Going into the debate, Trump (rightly) calculated that Biden and Wallace would double-team him.

    Knowing that, he had a choice of two strategies:

    (1) Act “presidential”, responding calmly to all the lies being lobbed at him, and spend the entire night on defense; or

    (2) Go on offense, take control of the debate, and risk looking like an asshole.

    Trump clearly chose the second option.

    Whether that was a smart move remains to be seen.

  114. That a jaw-dropping 66% of the Telemundo audience thought Trump won the debate is worth analyzing.

    Hispanics come from a macho culture, that respects and admires strong leaders.

    My wife is from the Philippines, which inherited Spain’s macho culture during the Spanish occupation centuries ago. She loves President Duterte, the Filipino Trump.

    I don’t know about Black culture, but I suspect it also respects someone who is willing to get in your face and tell it like it is.

    Perhaps Trump’s take-no-prisoners approach to the debate was a calculated attempt to appeal to Hispanics and Blacks?

    Maybe Trump figured he’s already lost the liberal squish voters, so why worry about offending them?

    And his base is solidly behind him, no matter what he does.
