And The Supreme Court Nominee Is… Amy Coney Barrett

Update:

——————————————————–

Obama Dimocrats are rationally lunatic. They have gone crazy because all the crazy glue in the world won’t glue together their “hope and change” delusions and they know it. President President Trump is in charge. The only question that remains is who will be the chess piece President Trump puts on the chessboard.

In typical fashion, Politico sketches out the issues as to whom President Trump should nominate for the Supreme Court but only in the most lurid and stupid ways:

The imperative is to do anything possible to win the election, and Barbara Lagoa would be an undeniable boon, they say: a Florida-based, Cuban-American jurist from a must-win state, who might also help the president in Hispanic-heavy Arizona and Nevada.

The other, led by White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, consists of religious and movement conservatives. They want a can’t-miss pick — someone who carries the lowest possible risk of becoming the next John Roberts or, worse, David Souter. The obvious choice to them is Amy Coney Barrett, an acolyte of former Justice Antonin Scalia who’s been groomed for decades to ascend to the high court and is seen as having the inside track. [snip]

Amy Coney Barrett

But by bypassing Lagoa, political operatives say the president would forgo an opportunity to bolster his chances in Florida.

“Both would be great picks and would energize the Republican base. But with Lagoa, there is likely an immediate, tangible impact on a critical swing state in Florida,” said Phil Cox, the former executive director of the Republican Governors Association.

Some Trump political advisers argue it would be risky for Democrats to go after Lagoa given their prior vote for her as well as her ethnic background. They also express concern about Barrett’s writings before she became a judge indicating she opposes Roe v. Wade and the Affordable Care Act. Polls show both those issues are important to suburban women, who have broken hard against the president.

The decision the President must make is fairly simple. Go with Barrett who is a tried and true conservative that won’t become another Roberts type Justice and betray the conservative movement or go with a superlative political pick (the other women up for consideration are also conservatives who would politically assist the President in their respective home states) who pretty much assures a big election victory.

What everyone needs to remember is that (1) the perfect Barrett is irrelevant if President Trump is not reelected, and (2) the politically perfect Lagoa could turn the victory sour if years later she betrays conservatives. So who to choose?

Barrett is very impressive and she will help significantly with Catholic voters who inhabit key states such as Pennsylvania and Michigan. Lagoa is impressive and she will help dramatically in Florida and other important states with Latino populations. Which one of these would you choose?

If Lagoa is as conservative as many say she is a perfect choice because she would not be a John Roberts type Quisling and it would be too much fun to watch Obama Dimocrats attack a Latina woman from Florida especially as Slow Joe Biden is already in hot sauce with Latinos! Some Republicans say exactly that:

Top Florida Republicans close to the president — including Gov. Ron DeSantis, Sens. Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, and Rep. Matt Gaetz — have spread the word that Lagoa would be at least as good a justice as Barrett but would bring more political advantages.

The Trump campaign is also trying to make up lost ground in Arizona and pick up steam in Nevada, both states with large Latino electorates that advisers think would look favorably upon a Latina nominee. Another theory: picking a Latina could also allay concerns of white moderate voters put off by Trump’s harsh and sometimes racist rhetoric toward Hispanics.

Lagoda helps in Florida and with Latinos. Barrett helps with Catholics in plenty of states too.

The main point, one missed by those who advocate for one or the other, is that the reelection of President Trump is what most matters.

President Trump has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to Supreme Court nominees. And hey, Sotomayor has diabetes and you know how Chinese Coronavirus afflicts those with diabetes especially hard – so both women might get to the high court sooner than anyone expects. We’re not wishing anyone ill, but… reality is a hard mistress.

  1. Latinos are already moving towards President Trump:

    https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/09/the-rise-of-the-latino-republican/

There has been a significant amount of garment-rending about the future of the GOP in recent years, as many conservatives worry that the party’s populist turn risks damaging its long-term brand. But the contemporary era in Republican politics has also yielded new and unpredictable electoral opportunities. If new polling is to be believed, for example, President Trump appears to be rapidly gaining ground on Joe Biden in Miami-Dade, the 2.7-million-person county that comprises the most populous voting district in the state of Florida. Biden is still decisively ahead of the president, but his most recent numbers mark a significant deterioration from the Democratic performance in the area four years ago. In 2016, the Trump campaign lost Miami-Dade to Hillary Clinton by a full 30 points; now, that gap has closed to about 17.

What’s most notable is that Trump is now leading Biden by a point or so with the area’s Hispanic voters, who make up 70 percent of Miami-Dade’s total population. Polling in a single county is insufficient evidence for sweeping political conclusions, of course. But Trump’s surprisingly good performance with Hispanic Floridians is mirrored by a number of different polls that suggest a national rightward movement among Latinos. In spite of his hardline rhetoric on immigration, Trump won nearly 30 percent of the Hispanic vote in 2016, and may well be on track to win a larger slice in 2020: As of June, only 59 percent of Hispanic voters said they plan to back Biden over Trump, a step down from the 66 percent that Hillary Clinton won four years ago. And by most metrics, Trump’s approval rating with Hispanics — currently hovering around 40 percent — has been steadily climbing since his inauguration.

These numbers challenge a core assumption shared by both major party establishments: the idea that nonwhite, immigrant voters are predestined to vote Democratic. For Democrats, this assumption manifests in revealingly eager rhetoric about the inevitability of progressivism’s political triumph in a diversifying country.

  2. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/23/opinion/joe-biden-donald-trump-2020.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=Homepage

Second, Latinos, who are key to the outcome in several crucial states — Arizona and Florida, for example — have shown less support for Biden than for past Democratic nominees. Many Hispanic voters seem resistant to any campaign that defines them broadly as “people of color.”

Third, absentee voting is expected to be higher among Democrats than Republicans, subjecting their ballots to a greater risk of rejection, a fate more common to mailed-in votes than to in-person voting.

Fourth, the generic Democratic-Republican vote (“Would you be more willing to vote for a Republican or Democratic candidate for Congress?”) through early July favored Democrats by more than 10 points, but has since narrowed to 6 points.

Fifth, the debates will test Biden’s ability to withstand three 90-minute battles against an opponent known for brutal personal attacks.

  3. Trump doesn’t need help with Latinos.

He has Florida and Arizona in the bag.

Trump has already decided on Barrett. He’s waiting until Saturday to announce for only two reasons:

    (1) Out of respect to RBG, who is lying in state in the Capitol this week; and

    (2) Out of respect to DeSantis et al., who want Trump to take a look at Lagoa.

  4. Somehow they are going to 6 million dollar man Biden for these debates, not sure how, but it will be done
I unfortunately believe he will be ready, the media will give him soft ball questions, Trump will look like a bull in a china cabinet and that will be played up

  5. Lagoa doesn’t have the creed Barrett does

She is more of a roll of the dice, and she is Cuban, not same as Mexican Hispanic. They really don’t like each other

  6. read this earlier today (sorry no link)

PDJT campaigned on a specific SCOTUS potential-nominee list in 2016

Lagoa is not on that list, but on the additional names added in 2020

only the original names should be considered BEFORE his re-election, to maintain “promises made, promises kept”

  7. I read that book like 25 years ago and it really stuck to me, I lent it out and never got it. ACL

  12. I think he should go for ACB as she will be a true conservative . If Trump loses they likely will get one or more picks so we need someone who could be counted on unlike Roberts who truly turned out to be a disaster.
As for the debate, Biden will come off good because unfortunately Trump and his minions originally set the bar so low that anything short of a complete brain freeze will be perceived as a Biden win. I have seen Biden and yes, he flubs a lot, but when prepared for these debates he will be fine imo. I think we saw he got better in the democratic debates. Even Trump is now saying Biden should do well as he has done many debates. The nicknames are cute but they hurt, just like when the death count was going to be around 70-100k. None of it is really Trumps fault as he is naturally aggressive and confident, but he got some bad advice on how to handle the press during the daily covid briefings and as pointed out in the last blog, he has been playing catch up ever since.
The polls do seem to be a little closer but time is short. We shall see what Chris Wallace and the “fair and balanced” panel have in store for Trump next week. I think a lot is riding on this debate and I hope Trump is not going to just wing it. He needs answers to very pointed/biased questions he is is going to be asked and or blamed for .

  13. in Blue Broward there are lots of Trump signs & Kamala got booed in Miami & also there was a news piece about her stopping at a restaurant in Miami & the people did not want her there & the owner was not happy he had no idea she was coming into his restaurant…PDT is very solid with the Cubans, Nicaraguans & Venezuelans

    https://trendingpolitics.com/watch-massive-latinos-for-trump-car-parade-takes-over-miami-florida/

having said that…Biden, as probably JB has noticed…has a ton & I mean a ton of ads on TV, some are warm & fuzzy, most are doom & gloom attacks on PDT, many with Biden standing at a podium as if he is already President & talking as President…

the attack ads repeat over & over again what a liar PDT is & how he has failed at Covid

His latest, if you can believe this, is showing all the violence, fires & destruction & trying to tie it to PDT as Trump’s America

I am quite sure this is all being repeated across the country all day long since THIS IS Biden’s campaign…TV ads & brainwashing

I bring this up because this constant brainwashing coupled with the confirmation of what is in these ads by the media is being imbedded into people’s minds…

I say this from talking to some people & hearing them parrot what is in these ads…and in addition I see it on twitter…this thing going around that PDT is a “dictator” & of course a “Liar” & a “Killer”

You wouldn’t think people would be so stupid as to believe this stuff…but make no mistake more than I would ever believe do…

    just an objective observation…

I think the Trump camp is waiting for the debates to get in motion before they spend their big guns on ads…Trump has a few out there…here & there…but he is going to need a bit more counterpunching with the ads as we get closer, especially with voting already started, if nothing else to not only answer these attacks but also to get more emphatic about pointing out Biden’s policies…especially the issue regarding the suburbs & school choice…those two will resonate but they need to get into the ethers…

I wholeheartedly agree. They say Lagoa is a conservative. The question is will she still be a conservative if she goes on the court. Barrett’s faith is strong, so I do not worry about her. Also, Barrett may be better able to weather the storms that will come in the confirmation hearing. After all, she has done it before. She will be helpful in Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Barrett represents the cultural battle we need to have with the godless democrat party. Their only God is the federal government which is a tyrannical and oppressive one.

  15. In a sense, Barrett would be a surrogate for what Harris Biden would do to ALL Catholics in this country if the become elected–and far worse if they manage to steaL the election. The more shrill, vindictive and evil they become, the more they satisfy their deranged left wing base AND the more the alienate and militarize the rest of the country against them. Progressives are Soviet Style monsters and brown shirts. The represent the worst of what the twentieth century showed and should have taught us. History should warn us that their path is a path that leads only to despair and from which no one ever returns.

  16. I understand this is not a scientific process, still I would like to know, based not on the fucking public polls, but on the Trump internal polling JUST HOW MUCH Lagoa would help in Florida, and to a lesser extent Arizona, and could he win those states by assuring Hispanics that he is saving her for the Sonatameyer seat, or the next seat that becomes available. I assume for these purposes that Florida is a must win state, and that the hispanic population there is Cuban as is Lagoa. Hispanics have good reason to trust Trump and distrust Biden, because of the communists who control him. The dislike Obama because he was cozy with Castro. The other thing is the theater at the confirmation hearings. If Barrett is nominated then the dims will go blatto–and that is good for us, and Barrett will handle them civilly and professionally–which is also good. If he does not select Barrett, he will have to explain why he said he was saving her for the Gizberg opening and then failed to follow through. Keeping promises is what he did best and this always the bidesmaid never the bride stuff would not be good.

    https://www.oann.com/new-polls-show-president-trump-taking-lead-among-texas-fla-voters/

    FYI…

Possibly one of the most clarifying pieces of information, however, was included in an a ABC-Washington Post likely voter study, which looked to find out how people would be voting rather than who they would be voting for. The study took two expected toss-up states, Florida and Arizona, and found which candidate those planning on voting early or absentee preferred versus who people voting in-person on Election Day favored.

While Joe Biden holds a 26-point lead in Arizona and a 28-point lead in Florida with early and absentee voters, President Trump holds a 48-point lead in Arizona and a 56-point lead in Florida among in-person Election Day voters.

A recent AP report found 39-percent of registered voters said they will vote by mail, which is up from the 21-percent who normally do so. If this holds true, the likely voter turnout could see Trump-leaning in-person votes still make up the majority of the electorate this November.

  20. They are pushing for a Latino but I think it would be a mistake to take a lightweight Latino

If you don’t have gravitas to appointment a real conservative, I say wth

I wonder if Romney and company are holding the turtles feet to the fire for their vote

  21. CNN has “breaking news” claiming that “Republican sources” told them it’s Barrett.

I don’t believe for one second those sources actually exist, but I agree, it’s Barrett.

Even CNN sometimes gets it right.

  22. just want to add some lighthearted good vibey news…

since I commented a couple of days ago about Trump signs all over blue Broward…there are more going up…today I saw not only more signs but a big half billboard sign for Trump-Pence AND at someone’s home driveway a big cutout of PDT smiling & waving with an American flag flying overhead and the number 2020

this is bravery & a sign of determination in broward…

  23. Gonz, Florida is going to be tough as no one I know supports Trump down here in South Palm Beach County. Even a female neighbor of mine who was pro Trump in 2016 says she is not going to vote. I told her that was a vote for antifa and BLM. She told me (and I had to hold my laughter in ) that she wanted a republican like Romney or Ryan who show civility. Can you imagine!!!!

  24. You run with special group of people JB

The wealthy are pretty stupid , I often wonder how they made all that money

  25. Yes Gonz..here in their gated communities far away from the lives of ordinary working class people it’s easy to ask for “civility” when you have no skin in the game.

  26. The wealthy are pretty stupid , I often wonder how they made all that money
    ——-
Many of them made their money by being passive aggressive lizards in corporations, practicing group think, deferring to authority, not making waves, and leading a stall fed existence, which allowed them to accumulate their wealth. There are government bureaucrats and there are corporate bureaucrats, and there is no appreciable difference between the two. In legal parlance they are most inclined to elevate form over substance, as illustrated by JBs neighbor who turns a blind eye to what Trump has accomplished for the nation, and demands only civility, as she defines the term. It never occurred to her that he has been the victim of a continuing coup ab initio, and he chose to fight rather than surrender.

  27. I was discussing the above subject with the Cuban banker who worked on Wall Street as a floor trader on the American stock exchange and as assistant to James Wriston who was the head of Citibank. His observation about corporations was the finest people he knew were in middle management and those at the top were lizards who were loyal to no one, but always wanted to look good—politicians of a different kind.

  28. Which is exactly what JB should say to his neighbor

JB, March on over there and explain to the idiot neighbor WHY she MUST vote for Trump

Her very life depends on it!

  29. The legal reasoning here is sublime. Yes, she is a female Scalia. Notice how she puts the burden on the federal government when it seeks to deprive citizens of their constitutional rights rather than simply deferring to them the way so many justices, like John Paul Stevens routinely did. To an originalist the constitution was designed to be a constraint on government. To a liberal justice it represents a license to steal, and to substitute their judgment for that of the people, and their duly elected representatives. Her confirmation will foreclose the campaign by the left to treat the court like a bevy of Platonic Guardians, and to achieve political ends which they could never achieve through the political process. This has led to the corrupt judiciary we see before us today, and is epitomized in the Chief Justice himself who is no protector of the constitution, but as Professor Jacobsen has observed is malleable and easily influenced by left wing pressure groups. Now court decisions will no longer depend on him.
    ——–

Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s impressive dissent in Kanter v. Barr (pp. 27-64) illustrates both her fidelity to the Supreme Court’s landmark Second Amendment ruling in District of Columbia v. Heller (2008) and her masterful application of the constitutional methodology of originalism.

Rickey I. Kanter pleaded guilty to one count of federal mail fraud for falsely representing that his company’s therapeutic shoe inserts were Medicare-approved and for billing Medicare on that basis. As a convicted felon, he was categorically prohibited by federal law and Wisconsin law from possessing a firearm. When he argued that the Second Amendment did not allow those laws to be applied against him, the panel majority rejected his claim.

Based on her extensive marshalling and analysis of the historical evidence, Judge Barrett concludes that the Second Amendment leaves legislatures the power to prohibit dangerous people from possessing guns but that felons do not lose their Second Amendment rights solely because of their status as felons. The federal government and the state of Wisconsin failed to show that disarming all nonviolent felons is carefully tailored to the goal of protecting public safety, nor did they show that mail fraud is substantially related to violent behavior. They also failed to demonstrate that anything else in Kanter’s history or characteristics made him likely to misuse firearms. Therefore, they could not bar him from possessing a firearm.

with all due respect JB that is really what is expected in your area…i mentioned that were a group of women interviewed at Mizer Park who said all their female friends in Boca area are voting for PDT…Palm Beach has always been Dem…as well as Boca…Broward…and Dade

what i find special this year about Broward & Dade is how much is swinging to PDT, not saying he is going to win those areas BUT he has a lot of support this time around, especially in DADE…Latinos are in big support…also spoke to a male friend of mine who is gay & he said a very big percentage of gays are supporting to PDT…he mentioned he had lost a lot of friends but now they are changing their support to PDT

Trump Boat parades have been big on the Intercoastal including Broward

Where (Ka)- MALA is concerned, a picture is worth a thousand words. No wonder the dims are so insistent that her name be pronounced Ka (mala). Properly pronounced, it calls for an exorcist. Here’s hoping Mike Pence, god fearing gentleman he is, is equal to the task.

  36. Countdown to the election, get your guns, bibles and radio-protective gear out. Trump did the right thing with Amy. Lagoa would not stand the crucifixion and he would have to fall back to Amy when there is no time. Massive insanity everywhere. I see the fear in the eyes of so many and the herd recognizes they are marked for horrors to come and do not know what to do.

My poor cat must be picking up on my stress (or reacting to the 20 GHz satellites) as she has started licking her hair off. Several of my friends reported their cats doing the same. I took her to the vet and saw the fear in her eyes as she said the cat’s skin was healthy and so she could not pin down any cause but excessive grooming. I suspect she is seeing a lot of it and she suggested it was because more people were staying at home.

Nothing to say what kind of stress Trump is under, but then he would be quite busy campaigning, that he seems to enjoy immensely. Here is an interesting take on what he is dealing with:

I see plenty of Biden signs in conservative Williamson county Tx

Very unnerving and to tell the truth, makes me angry, the stupidity of it

  39. I also think Biden will debate, at least one, and what ever cocktail they give him will unfortunately work

  41. I agree Gonz. Very unsettling and not sure if the so called silent majority is really there. It just seems too overwhelming in terms of the obstacles that President Trump faces from the media, democrats , and Rhinos.

  42. Just read that S..another leak before the election. Certainly not unusual for super rich to legally avoid and reduce taxes, but will not look good to the average uninformed voter. Just another dagger being thrown at Trump.

Nothing that a Trump supporter would bar an eyelash at

  44. Meanwhile… Biden…

  46. According to Shipwreckcrew, there is an explanation for why the Durham report has not been issued, and may not be issued before the election. He believes it is because Barr is a life long friend of Mueller, knows that Mueller’s cognitive faculties are, like those of corrupt and creepy Joe Biden, in a state of rapid decline, and potentially free fall AND that bitter democrat partisans /ideologues specifically Andrew Viceman and Jenny Rhee, who were appointed by him to his staff, used his reputation as a sword and a shield to pursue a fraudulent political attack on the office of president, and he wants their scalps. The catalyst was the testimony of an FBI agent who was in the thick of it, and was used by those two, and now had decided to fess up and clear his conscience. His name is William Barnett, who has standing within the FBI. I realize, of course, that this is only a theory, but it sounds quite plausible to me. I do not know this guy Barnett, I cannot vouch for him, and is failure to speak up sooner cause me some concern. The alternative theory for the delay, which Shipweck does not mention, is the newfound interest in prosecuting the Clingon Foundation. The problem I have with all of this is if the dims steal the election, none of this will ever see the light of day. On the other hand, if they steal the election, it seems to me that will be the least of our worries, as American citizens, because the republic will be no more.

  47. Wbb

I heard that rumor but Trump loses and they all go free

“Trump looks like he’s running circles around Biden.
Less than six weeks before the election, one of the most profound disappointments among some of Joe Biden’s supporters is that he doesn’t even seem to be trying.

  50. Tom Ridge, Bush’s former cabinet member has come out in support of Biden

    Geez these assh@les

They all know he’s got Alzheimer’s and crooked as the day is long

    Apparently so are they

  51. My Question:

regarding all the UNSOLICITED BALLOTS going out…

what happens to all those random ballots if the recipient votes in person…so where do these millions of ballots go?

unsecured with no chain of command….do they end up in public trash?

Can someone just give them to someone else?

not to mention there are already stories about postal workers throwing ballots away; throwing TRUMP MILITARY ballots away…the postal workers are people…they can be compromised….

this is a disaster waiting to happen…

…with Nancy Pelosi in the wings like the wicked witch of the West wringing her hands getting ready for her House to decide the next President…maybe she will even choose herself…

  52. I don’t think PDT did himself any favor with yesterdays presser, he sounded very tired, low key & frankly like he was talking to himself…I couldn’t even watch it

I hope today is better, his energy is up & he stops reading those notes…very annoying & unproductive

  53. btw…if you read the comments to that tweet above…there are over 500 comments from people with similiar experiences of getting multiple ballots & ironically most seem to be Dems

that tweet has over 5000 retweets & over 9000 likes…this is happening everywhere across our country…

    disaster in the making…

  54. I have gotten at least two unsolicited ballots from the Republican Party here in Texas

There are going to be millions of extra ballots

    Multiple millions

  55. yes, he needs to relax for tomorrow debate

this whole ballot situation is run by people who are either completely corrupt or crazy or both

  56. And some are calling me and asking me did I send in my unsolicited ballot.

I have been busy objecting to the high power antennas being DEPLOYED is Palm Beach County. They are putting them in as “small” cells as close as 25 feet to homes. If you have invested in 5G you are collecting blood money. It is a scam. No mm waves, just the same old shit powered up and put in your face to collect your data. Using high powered microwaves to collect your data. THAT is 5G. There ought to be a law against it. Oh, as a matter of fact, there is.

  57. Massive voter fraud in Texas, over 700,000 ballots already harvested!

Biden’s Political Director in Texas is Implicated in Massive — Massive — “Ballot Harvesting” Fraud
    —Ace

I wish the media and the NeverTrump traitors would spend 1% of the time on insisting on a clean and legal election as they do in demanding that Trump concede no matter what the outcome, or how it was purloined.

You want a peaceful transition of power?

This is not the way to get a peaceful transition of power.

Biden Campaign operatives in Texas are attempting to rig the 2020 election with a massive ballot harvesting scheme, according to two private investigators who testified under oath that they have “video evidence, documentation and witnesses” to prove it. With the help of mass mail-in ballots, the illegal ballot harvesting operation could harvest 700,000 ballots, one Harris County Democrat operative allegedly bragged.
The investigators–a former FBI agent and former police officer–claim that Biden’s Texas Political Director Dallas Jones and his cohorts have been “hoarding mail-in and absentee ballots” and ordering operatives to them fill out for people in Harris County illegally, “including dead people, homeless people, and nursing home residents in the 2020 presidential election,” Patrick Howley of the National File reported.

While law enforcement agencies are reportedly investigating these potential crimes, nothing will be done about it until “well after the November 3, 2020 election” the former FBI agent said.

Aguirre noted that the ballot harvesters have been exploiting the elderly with the complicity of nursing home staff.

I have in my possession video-taped interviews of witnesses attesting to the aforementioned people having groups of people completing thousands of absentee and mail-in ballots, including completing ballots for deceased individuals; illegally going into nursing homes, with the complicity of the nursing home staff, and filling out and forging the signatures of nursing home residents; signing up homeless individuals to vote using the ballot harvester’s address then completing the ballot and forging the homeless individual?s signature.
This entire operation is being run by the elite politicians of the Democrat Party in Houston/Hams County. FURTHER AFFIANT SAYETH NOT.

I don’t assign credence to the widespread speculation and rampant punditry complaining of alleged foot dragging by Barr, the unlikelihood of any indictments beyond Kevin Clinesmith, or the lack of a Durham “report”.

Durham is not charged with preparing a report. His job is to prepare indictments. Clinesmith is merely the first and simplest domino to fall. An open and shut case of falsifying evidence that doubtless comes with extensive cooperation. We know interviews with retired and current FISA judges have delineated how they were misled by the FBI.

We know Durham has interviewed Brennan at length, choosing to do so in Maryland so that any perjury trap would fall under the US District for Eastern Virginia and not DC. How William Barnett fits into this we don’t know. But Durham has interviewed him recently and extensively.

How do Barr’s friendship with Mueller and Mueller’s mental condition play into this? My guess is very little. Don’t forget Durham was tasked in 1999 with bottoming out the full extent of FBI malfeasance in their corrupt handling of informant and organized crime boss Whitey Bulger.

Don’t forget that was another Mueller fiasco. And we know that Barr was fully aware when he assigned Durham to this investigation. Durham didn’t back off from Mueller or the FBI then, and there is no reason for Barr to expect or request otherwise now.

Trump, Cruz, Graham and many others may publicly complain about indictments not happening in a timely fashion convenient to the election. But this is a complex international investigation of corruption of breathtaking extent. We know that Durham and staff have traveled to Italy and Ukraine for interviews and meetings collecting files and evidence.

We know that Crossfire Hurricane corruption was a project of the Obama DoJ and State Department. Which inevitably involves the Clinton Foundation and its ruthless extortion of Chinese govt and Russian oligarchs as well as Western govts. And likely profited by the Iranian payoffs that Rouhani keeps threatening to expose. And is inextricably linked to Kerry-Clinton-Biden Ukraine corruption of audacious magnitude.

None of which can be separated from the agenda of the intervention war machine. Specifically including machinations of the CIA which led the agenda to expel Michael Flynn because of his opposition to Syrian regime change. All of which is complicated by Republicans feeding at the same troughs.

Rushed indictments could lose opportunity or stall an investigation. And if Trump were to lose November 3rd (or in the weeks following), any indictments will be buried anyway.

I have faith in Durham and his team. They may indeed file indictments this presidential term. But not necessarily by November 3rd.

  59. Wow, simply WOW

Trump nominated a THIRD time for the Nobel Peace Prize!!!

For a guy who was going to cause the world go to hell, the experts sure had that prediction wrong. Trump nominated for a 3rd Nobel prize.

A group of four Australian law professors have nominated U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, the third nomination he’s received in recent weeks.
The nomination is based on the so-called Trump doctrine, or the president’s approach to foreign policy, David Flint, one of the professors, said on Sept. 28.

    I concur.

I think Shipwreck guessed wrong about Durham’s motivation.

If Hollywood were not owned by China, which they are, and if they were still making movies with a sophisticated plot, which they are not, and if they were not so politically correct that it makes you puke and boycott the Oscars, then the motive of pursuing the villains for the sake of a friend might be possible in the dream factory.

But in the real world, the explanation must and will like elsewhere. What they did to his friend, namely using him like a cheap foil may make Barr angry but it will not guide what he does. Which leaves us with the explanation for delay proffered by Devin Nunez which is that none of us realized the SIZE AND SCOPE OF THE CONSPIRACY and it has taken far more time than we ever could have anticipated to get the the bottom of it. That is what will dictate our calendar. We are prosecutors, not politicians..

  61. Unfortunately, most people are more impressed by style than by substance. The first is an emotional reaction, the second is more intellectual which is where so many college graduates actually fail—they think they are smarter than they are and they are guided by gullible feelings. The reason this observation matters is because what we will see in the debates tonight is a more vigorous Joe Biden than we have seen in recent days–and that contrast, which is one of style is all that many people will react to. Whether his handlers would achieve that affect through drugs, or through a double–which some people believe they did when Hillary ran for president, is something I cannot answer. Who can forget the time she stumbled into the limousine , was too tired to visit key battleground states, and later appeared at the debate looking 10 years younger. But that is not what we should focus on. The fact that Biden is on for one night and off for months is not the issue. The issue is his contradictions and his toxic agenda which Trump will fully exposed. I know that is not what anyone here wants to hear but I thought it best to mention it now so no one is surprised or disappointed. Just remember, they never would have let him debates if they did not have something like that up their sleeve.

  62. The MSM headlines are already written; Biden takes down Goliath, Biden stands tall, Biden eviscerates Orange Man, Biden is the true leader, blah, blah, blah..

  63. 9. Rich guys like Donald Trump don’t do their own taxes. Nor do they hire an accountant. They hire accounting firms with an army of CPAs and tax attorneys. Those accounting firms can be held liable if they participate in illegal activity. Remember Enron?

  64. Enron was a BS witch hunt by no other than the Mueller groups Weismann… he destroyed a 11,000 employee Company amd 4 executives died in prison before the truth came out

But he and his thugs went on to bigger things, like the US President

  65. Donald J. Trump

Biden wants a break every 30 minutes during the 90 minutes debate.

Trump wants a third party to check the ears of the candidates for listening devices and wants drug tests.

Trump’s real opponent will be that smug asshole Chris Wallace, who will come armed with a lot of statistical crap that he will either incorporate into his questions or use in rebuttal. Trump will need to come armed with his own statistics. Its the old Russert approach etc. I would not have selected Wallace because he is a democrat and a Trump hater. The dynamic I expect will be one where fuck face attacks Trump and Biden says me too. A rebutal would point out that it is one thing to set up a set of issues, and another to make sound judgements under fire. Wallace has no experience, ever, doing that. ONE THE OTHER HAND, Trump is the kind of leader who welcomes dissenting opinions, and enjoys verbal jousting, which has been his imprimatur. Therefore I expect he will handle the 2 on 1 assault effectively.

  68. Promises mad. Promises kept. That is his strongest defense—and his proof that what he promises for his second term will, unlike Cinderella Biden, come true.

  69. Wallace has to be careful here too. He is a self declared democrat and has a streak of zealot in his make up. Those factors could cause him to over reach. If he over reaches, and is fair to Biden and unfair to Trump, he could damage the brand of his employer. Lest we forget, that fat slob Candy Crowley did that. Shortly thereafter, she was gone. And her network, CNN, will never host another debate. The guy who handled Wallace well his gotcha interviews was Steve Miller. I hope and expect Trump spends a little time with him for thought on how to handle Wallace, with his prepared script and 100 million watching. I believe this is one of those situations where he not only has to beat the old pervert Biden, but the swamp creature Wallace as well, but in a calm and informative way.

  70. Newt has a higher opinion of Wallace than I do. Nevertheless he provides some excellent insights:

Which Joe Biden Will Show Up Tuesday?
    September 29, 2020

    by Newt Gingrich

I am really looking forward to Tuesday night’s Presidential Debate.

I have no idea which Joe Biden will show up for the debate. And I have no idea how President Donald Trump will respond to whichever Biden appears on stage.

Chris Wallace, the moderator (and a serious, reliably objective journalist), is a much more predictable participant. I am confident President Trump will competently handle his questions.

However, it is the Biden uncertainty which is much more interesting.

The Biden we have been watching since he clinched the Democratic nomination has been more and more incompetent and unpredictable. He hides in the Wilmington, Delaware basement about half the time (specifically, there have been scant interactions between the Democratic Presidential candidate and the news media or the public in recent days).

When the former vice president has been in public, his performances have been erratic and have often included one or more clear mistakes. At times, Biden’s verbal stumbling has been cringeworthy and made me wonder why his campaign is putting him through such public embarrassment.

And yet, Biden – as recently as this year – has been an effective debater. One has to wonder if the Biden team reached the conclusion that the debates would decide the election, so they deliberately set up a pattern to lower expectations. The aim could be that Biden could win the debates by just showing up and not collapsing.

If this was a strategy – and we see a bright, energetic, aggressive former vice president on stage Tuesday night – it will have been one of the most daring (potentially effective) presidential campaign strategies in American history.

President Trump and his supporters need to remember that just in March, Boston Globe’s Scot Lehigh wrote that Biden “dominated” his debate against Sen. Bernie Sanders. As Lehigh wrote:

“[I]n a time when the coronavirus crisis has a frightened country desperate for competent leadership, Biden demonstrated that he knows what must be done now in the struggle to contain the contagion and what will be required in the future to help hard-pressed Americans keep their lives and families more or less intact.”

Todd Graham, a decorated debate coach writing for CNN, agreed with Lehigh’s assessment. He gave Joe Biden an “A” for his debate performance, calling it “his best debate ever.”

“Rising like a phoenix from the ashes of his previous debates, former Vice President Joe Biden met one of the most pivotal moments of his career with his best debate ever… Amid the novel coronavirus crisis that has gripped the nation — and the world — the two Democratic presidential contenders were grilled on how they would handle the pandemic and while Biden was ready with strong, thoughtful responses,” Graham wrote.

If you think about the length of Biden’s career, it should not be surprising that he is a competent debater. He was elected to the US Senate a few weeks before he was old enough to be sworn in (the requirement is 30).

Over 36 years in the Senate, Biden had endless opportunities to debate others in committee and on the floor. His career includes three presidential campaigns and two vice presidential campaigns.

In the 2008 Vice Presidential Debate, he more than held his own with Gov. Sarah Palin. In the 2012 Vice Presidential Debate, there was a general agreement that he was more aggressive and more dominant than then-Congressman (later Speaker) Paul Ryan.

As President Trump and his team prepare for Tuesday night, it is the 2012 debate between Biden and Ryan they should really study. Ryan is one of the smartest people to serve in Congress in this generation. He is deeply thoughtful and knows an immense amount. However, he discovered debating Biden was a totally different challenge. Consider these reactions:

“He was priest to Paul Ryan’s flummoxed altar boy, scoutmaster to Ryan’s nervous, tongue-tied knot-tier. His smile veered—yes—between amused and condescending, depending on the honey or vinegar with which he referred to Ryan as ‘my friend,’” wrote Saul Loeb for Vanity Fair.

Biden came out over Ryan in polls by Business Insider and CBS, and in ABC’s coverage following the debate, CNN’s Jake Tapper said that while some Democrats voiced concerns over how the age difference between the two would play out, “Obviously, Vice President Biden came ready to play… Democrats will be energized by the Vice-President’s performance this evening, they’ll be excited.”

In October 2012, The Guardian’s Oliver Burkeman wrote: “Joe Biden’s alpha-male display leaves Paul Ryan overwhelmed in VP debate.” Burkeman continued: “Joe Biden, whose high-energy performance – part angry bar-room debater, part condescending elder uncle, part comic mime artist – frequently seemed to leave Paul Ryan overwhelmed.”

Finally, BuzzFeed News Editor-In-Chief Ben Smith said Biden, “dominated Thursday’s Vice Presidential debate, hammering Rep. Paul Ryan again and again during his portion of the night while his laughs, smirks, chuckles, cackles and hand-gestures overwhelmed Ryan’s more understated jabs.”

So, President Trump and his team must prepare for two totally different debates depending on which Biden shows up.

If the recent stumbling, embarrassing, forgetful Biden shows up, President Trump must defeat him calmly and firmly – but without bullying or humiliating him.

On the other hand, if the energetic, well-prepared “alpha male” Biden is at the debate, President Trump must use the toughness and directness he showed so ably with Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Since we have no idea which Biden will appear – and therefore no idea what President Trump will do to defeat him – this debate will be as much reality TV as anyone has ever seen.

I am really looking forward to it.

  71. Bottom line? Trump should prepare on the premise that the sleepy joe mantra is a false flag, designed to create a come back kid mantra, and prepare to push back on him hard, as he did with Hillary. And, contrary to what someone suggested, everything does not have to flow through Wallace. Biden’s policies are his achilles heel. If he adheres to them, he will alienate main stream voters. If he abandons them, he will alienate his base. That is the breach Trump needs to widen and deepen in this debate. He must not assume that Wallace will do it for him.

  72. Trump should have asked for Tucker or Mollie Hemingway
Wallace is a slimy creepy antiTrumper and he surely will try to abuse Trump, he will intercede if Trump has Biden on the ropes

    Overall, it will be disgusting

  73. fwiw????
