We got a lot of what we wanted in MAGAnificent 2017 too. It wasn’t all just misery. It wasn’t just the misery of the first 21 days of Obama followed by the appointment of Robert Mueller to try to take down the greatest enemy of the swamp the Republic has ever produced. 2017 was MAGAnificent in many ways.
It wasn’t just the terrific Trump tax triumph and the implications of the plan we wrote about. There were a lot of MAGAnificient triumphs in 2017. Consider some of the great Trump triumphs that have been given little attention.
There are the amazing Trumpian happenings in the center of the Muslim world, particularly in Saudi Arabia with it’s handover of power to a much younger leader and one who might be serious about killing Muslim extremists.
On policy, there was all the crazy talk that President Trump had made an agreement with Nancy Pelousy and Cryin’ Chuck on DACA which ensured amnesty for illegal aliens was on the way. Then reality hit and the DACA plan emerged which will never be accepted by Obama Dimocrats. The “plan” with its 70 conditions, such as a border wall, will be the art of the deal starting point.
On politics, who could have dreamed that the Obama Dimocrats would have yet another senate seat to defend in MAGAnificient 2018 now that Al Frankengroper will resign? And just think, the Hollywood left will not be able to campaign for the forlorn Obama Dimocrat candidates because so many of them, yea the entire industry of “progressive entertainers” have been Harvey Weinsteined.
The Trump GOP will have less than 10 seats to defend in MAGAnificient 2018. The Obama Dimocrats are already forced to defend 25 seats, mostly in “red” states. So say “good-bye” to Joe Manchin who is now the sole Obama Dimocrat elected to a statewide seat in West Virginia. Say good-bye as well to all the Obama Dimocrats who persist to resist President Trump. We remember the Hillary Clinton we supported. Barack Obama and the totalitarian left attacked Hillary Clinton in 2008 when she declared that if Iran attacked Israel with nuclear weapons she would “obliterate Iran”. We applauded.
Hillary Clinton made the same clear case against Iran, and declared that she wanted Iran to understand the consequences of their actions, as President Donald J. Trump made against North Korea. Yet now, the wretched Hillary Clinton attacks President Donald J. Trump for the same logical stance.
“I want the Iranians to know that if I’m the president, we will attack Iran (if it attacks Israel),” Clinton said in an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
“In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them,” she said.
“That’s a terrible thing to say but those people who run Iran need to understand that because that perhaps will deter them from doing something that would be reckless, foolish and tragic,” Clinton said.
Hillary Clinton slammed President Trump’s speech at the United Nations, calling it “dangerous.”
“I thought it was very dark, dangerous, not the kind of message that the leader of the greatest country in the world should be delivering,” Mrs. Clinton said Tuesday night on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” [snip]
“What I hoped the president would have said is something along the lines of ‘we view this as dangerous to our allies, to the region and even to our country. We call on all nations to work with us to try to end the threat caused to us by Kim Jong-un,’” Mrs. Clinton said, referring to North Korea’s leader.
President Trump at the United Nations declared his preference for diplomacy even as he listed the many crimes committed by North Korea against its people and its neighbors, including the kidnap victims snatched by North Korea. Then President Trump made a clear statement to North Korea: The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea. That’s much more diplomatic language than “obliterate”.
Hillary Clinton’s attacks against President Trump are the work of a deranged, unhinged, mind. Either that or she is a liar who has forgotten her own “obliterate” form of diplomacy. Perhaps these unhinged statements, or lies, are why more Hillary voters regret their 2016 vote than Trump voters.
In 1994 Hillary Clinton held a long press conference to address the Whitewater scandal. It was that lovely pink Chanel suit that inspired the color scheme for this website. Trump out-campaigned Clinton by 30 percent in Florida, winning by 1.3 points a state that had gone Democratic in 2008 and 2012.
In Pennsylvania, Trump made 23 percent more visits and won the previously blue state by 1.2 points.
The biggest disparity came in Ohio, where Clinton made 17 stops and Trump made 26. He won the state by more than 8 points. In North Carolina, Clinton made 16 stops as Trump made 23, and he took the state by a little under 4 points.
And in what may prove to be this cycle’s most stunning 11th hour upset, Michigan hosted Trump 13 times in the last 100 days. Clinton visited just six times in comparison…
If Hillary Clinton had a brain left she would read our analysis before the 2016 election. Years before Hillary Clinton registered Hillary2016 we discussed why Hillary Clinton was running a stupid pre-official campaign. After Hillary2016 was announced our analysis continued and we pointed out all the failures and future failures to come.
What Happened in 2016? We laid it all out years before the 2016 election began. In September of 2013 we called Hillary Clinton 2016 a “Muddled Message Mess”. Hillary Clinton was a Muddled Message Mess in 2013 because she could not choose whether she wanted to run as a “stay the course” candidate in 2016 or as a “change” candidate. In “Muddled Message Mess” we declared that 2016 would be a “change” election. Stupidly, irredeemably stupidly, Hillary Clinton first tried to have it both ways then Hillary eventually slit her electoral wrists when she became the Obama Third Term.
It wasn’t just a Muddled Message Mess. The entirety of Hillary2016 was a mess. Robby Mook did not have the stature nor the smarts to be the campaign manager. With a name like Mook it is almost like advertising his ineptness.
Robby Mook failed because Hillary Clinton failed. In 2008 Barack Obama won because Big Media race-baited Hillary Clinton during the primaries and then John McCain was race-baited during the general election. In other words, Barack Obama won in 2008 because he understood that after eight years of George W. Bush it was “time for a change” and ever the flim flam con man Barack Obama took full advantage for self-advancement to fool the idiots who supported him.
Instead of the correct analysis, that race-baiting by Big Media on behalf of Barack Obama in 2008 is what got him the nomination and eventually victory in the general election, Hillary Clinton and Robby the Mook convinced themselves than nonsense such as metrics and analysis is what won the victory.

Hillary Clinton’s tragic 2016 campaign faced withering criticism in the press, social media, and now, in Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes’s inside account, Shattered. From my vantage point as lead pollster for the Democratic nominees in 1992 and 2000, part of the closing clutch of pollsters in 2004, and invited noodge in 2016, I have little quarrel with the harshest of these criticisms. Malpractice and arrogance contributed mightily to the election of Donald Trump and its profound threat to our democracy. So did the handling of the email server, paid Wall Street speeches, and the “deplorables” comment. And her unwillingness to challenge the excesses of big money and corporate influence left her exposed to attacks first by Bernie Sanders and then by Donald Trump and unable to offer credible promise of change. For me, the most glaring examples include the Clinton campaign’s over-dependence on technical analytics; its failure to run campaigns to win the battleground states; the decision to focus on the rainbow base and identity politics at the expense of the working class; and the failure to address the candidate’s growing “trust problem” or to learn from events and reposition. [snip]
The campaign relied far too heavily on something that campaign technicians call “data analytics.” This refers to the use of models built from a database of the country’s 200 million voters, including turnout history and demographic and consumer information, updated daily by an automated poll asking for vote preference to project the election result. But when campaign developments overtake the model’s assumptions, you get surprised by the voters—and this happened repeatedly.
Campaign manager Robby Mook and his team believed that identity politics, demographic trends, and Trump’s temperament would be enough to win, so they could avoid confronting the “trust problem.”
Astonishingly, the 2016 Clinton campaign conducted no state polls in the final three weeks of the general election and relied primarily on data analytics to project turnout and the state vote. They paid little attention to qualitative focus groups or feedback from the field, and their brief daily poll didn’t measure which candidate was defining the election or getting people engaged.
The models from the data analytics team led by Elan Kriegel got the Iowa and Michigan primaries badly wrong, with huge consequences for the race. Why were they not then fired? [snip]
Campaign chair John Podesta wanted to fire Mook, but Clinton stood by him. She rightly admired previous campaigns in which big data and technology were big winners, yet in 2008 it was the candidate and his appeal more than the technical wizardry that pushed Obama over the top. [snip]
For Clinton, however, giving up the analytics team was like giving up consultant Dick Morris at earlier tough moments—a man who was thought to bring unconventional powers to play. That Mook didn’t share his results with others in the campaign reinforced his mystique as a data wizard. But that lack of transparency was malpractice. Standard practice is immediately sharing national, battleground, and state polls, as well as automated canvassing and other metrics with the senior campaign team at the very least, usually with the war room, and sometimes the whole headquarters. That is how a nimble campaign operates.
The malpractice grows exponentially with their failure to focus like a laser on winning each target primary or battleground state. Rather than shifting resources and media buys across states based on the analytics’ projection of cost per delegate or voter, they needed to focus on how to win each must-win, winner-take-all state. That meant more distinct state strategies, focus groups, and state tracking polls right to the end.
The campaign’s approach senselessly and increasingly drove up Trump’s margin in white working-class communities, tipping Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Florida. The analytics model built around these assumptions was so simple-minded it portended disaster. Despite overwhelming evidence that the Democratic base wasn’t consolidated or excited, the campaign believed Trump’s tasteless attacks and Clinton’s identification with every group in the rainbow coalition would produce near universal support. Thus, they stopped trying to persuade voters and measured only the probability of support for Hillary. The campaign’s task was turning out those Clinton voters, and they fell frustratingly short.
Hillary Clinton ran a stupid campaign. In 2008 Hillary Clinton was not able to understand that what matters is getting delegates during a primary. Barack Obama’s campaign only cared about delegates. Vote totals did not matter. Hillary Clinton would win huge victories at the polls then get few delegates from those victories. Barack Obama would barely win or lose but would gain lots of delegates. In caucus states Barack Obama worked with the establishment to get delegates while the Hillary Clinton campaign mostly ignored the corrupt caucus states. The results of this 2008 stupidity meant that Barack Obama got more votes from playing insider games (recall Florida and Michigan).
In 2016 Hillary Clinton learned nothing. Against Donald J. Trump Hillary Clinton ignored white working class voters who lived in swing states. Hillary Clinton did not learn from 2008 that in a general election what matters are electoral votes not huge margins in numbskull states like New York, California, and Illinois. Hillary Clinton did not learn a thing from 2008. Hillary Clinton has not learned a thing from 2016. It wasn’t couldawouldashoulda reasons she concocts. Hillary Clinton lost because she did not have a clue about what she needed to win.
Clinton and the campaign acted as if “demographics is destiny” and a “rainbow coalition” was bound to govern. Yes, there is a growing “Rising American Electorate,” but as Page Gardner and I wrote at the outset of this election, you must give people a compelling reason to vote. I have demonstrated for my entire career that a candidate must target white working-class voters, too.
Not surprisingly, Clinton took her biggest hit in Michigan, where she failed to campaign in Macomb County, the archetypal white working-class county. That was the opposite of her husband’s approach. Bill Clinton visibly campaigned in Macomb, the black community in Detroit, and elsewhere.
The fatal conclusion the Clinton team made after the Michigan primary debacle was that she could not win white working-class voters, and that the “rising electorate” would make up the difference. She finished her campaign with rallies in inner cities and university towns. Macomb got the message. “When you leave the two-thirds of Americans without college degrees out of your vision of the good life, they notice,” Joan Williams writes sharply in White Working Class: Overcoming Class Cluelessness in America.
Additionally, Sanders campaigned against bad trade deals like NAFTA and the TPP to show he’d battle for working people. NAFTA was the work of Bill Clinton and the TPP was a signature initiative of Obama. Hillary Clinton needed some distance. My wife, Representative Rosa DeLauro, headed up the anti-TPP forces in Congress, but despite her incessant lobbying of Podesta, Clinton offered only a muddled opposition.
Stanley Greenberg’s article deserves a full read. Of course, what we wrote years ago is a much more important read for anyone trying to understand what happened in 2016.
Greenberg writes about the “Trust Problem” and why it grew as the campaign progressed “progressively”. But Greenberg misses the point we never have that Hillary Clinton’s biggest “trust problem” was that no matter what policy proposals she made no one believed her because they did not think she could get the job done. Trump supporters believed Trump would and could get the promises he made done. It was the old Bill Clinton motto come to life “better to be strong and wrong than weak and right”. Even if you believed Hillary Clinton and believed in her policy proposals you did not think Hillary could or would get the job done. That was the real “Trust Problem”.
Greenberg does not get the full reason why Hillary Clinton lost as well as we do. But he has some gems:
Shattered suggests that Obama advisers inside and outside the campaign, including David Axelrod and David Plouffe, believed Hillary Clinton herself was the principal obstacle and doubted the campaign could course-correct. Mook and team believed that identity politics, demographic trends, and Trump’s temperament would be enough to win, so they could avoid confronting the “trust problem.”
Greenberg has his own couldawouldashoulda:
What might have happened if Clinton had attended a focus group herself, as Nelson Mandela did in 1993 when our research showed that his African National Congress was seen as “out of touch” and taking too long to bring change? What might have happened if she had watched people expressing their exasperation and desperation with the economy and politicians—and talking about her ties to Wall Street, her perceived lack of truthfulness, or their knowing nothing of her economic ideas? But the Clinton campaign never facilitated that kind of redirection.
Hillary Clinton was so deluded that she became the Obama Third Term in a change election year:
Hillary Clinton fully identified with President Obama’s vision on identity, opportunity, honest government, inequality, the economy, and America’s upward direction, viewing his campaign and governance as successful. She stocked her campaign with his consultants and those who had worked in his White House.
Barack Obama and his Third Term, Hillary Clinton were and are still deluded under their blanket of leftist delusion:
Obama and Clinton lived in a cosmopolitan and professional America that wasn’t very angry about the state of the country, even if many of the groups in the Clinton coalition were struggling and angry. Clinton decided only reluctantly to qualify that narrative in favor of one more sensitive to those who were left behind.
Obama’s refrain was severely out of touch with what was happening to most Americans and the working class more broadly. [snip]
Incomes sagged after the financial crisis, pensions lost value, and many lost their housing wealth, while people faced dramatically rising costs for things that mattered—health care, education, housing, and child care. People faced vanishing geographic, economic, and social mobility, as Edward Luce writes so forcefully. At the same time, billionaires spent massively to influence politicians and parked their money in the big cities whose dynamism drew in the best talent from the smaller towns and rural areas.
Clinton’s default position was Obama’s refrain about America, but she did invite real discussion of these issues and got close to embracing a change posture during some economic speeches and her convention address, and in the debates. But when the campaign got rocked, she reverted to the Obama narrative.
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton wanted the Obama Third Term. America however wanted CHANGE. Not false hope and chump change. America in 2016 wanted real CHANGE from a change candidate. Greenberg cites Hillary Clinton’s repeated failures to understand America in 2016 and his personal interactions with Hillary Clinton and Hillary2016 for course corrections which did not happen (Early on, I chided the campaign privately for starting every economic talk with dutiful praise for Obama’s handling of the economy, and later told them not to keep saying, “America is already great.” The new American majority, I wrote, “is looking for a president who will address the building problems”—and “not a third term of Obama.”
Hillary Clinton wanted to be the Third Obama Term come Hell or high water. Donald J. Trump promised a change he could deliver. Hillary Clinton offered policy that failed and would fail again. Hillary Clinton deserved to lose and she lost.

Right before the Connecticut primary, I watched Clinton and my wife, Representative DeLauro, host a café discussion with working women. Beforehand, she greeted me warmly, and afterward Rosa and I hung back in the holding area to let Clinton and me speak alone and frankly. She was really moved and disturbed by what she had heard on the campaign trail, recounting the similar stories from women in suburban Philadelphia, Tampa, and Brooklyn. “They’re in such pain. People are at their wits’ end. They feel hopeless.”
I said, yes, that is exactly what’s happening in the country, which she acknowledged, but then said, “How do I talk about their pain without sounding like I’m criticizing President Obama and his economy? I just can’t do that.”
If you think we are tough on Hillary Clinton and Hillary2016, Stanley Greenberg calls Hillary2016 “completely schizophrenic” (“I just can’t understand why you feel the need to run on progress. You are the past and Trump is change and a better life. You sound clueless in blue collar America.”) Hillary2016 and Hillary Clinton were a muddled message mess.

The madness of Hillary Clinton is cheap and tawdry. Unlike the great madness of Medea in the play by Euripides, Hillary Clinton’s excuses for her election loss are like piss compared to fine wine.
Medea, the princess who helped Jason steal the Golden Fleece from her father the king, went not so much mad, as vengeful. Medea fled her native land with Jason out of love; Medea loved Jason so much she chopped her brother into pieces, threw the butchered meat of her sibling into the sea so that her father who gave chase in ships would be delayed as he religiously stopped to pick up the pieces of his dismembered son. When Jason of Corinth leaves Medea in order to marry the Greek princess of Corinth, Medea kills the princess as well as the two children she has borne Jason. It is Jason who is driven into madness by the vengeful and righteous Medea. No tears or couldawoldashoulda from the powerful Medea.

Up to the very last hours of election night 2016, Hillary Clinton and Hillary voters were absolutely sure that Hillary Clinton was set for a win. It was delusion.
We knew Hillary Clinton was going to lose. On the Friday before the Tuesday election we published our election prediction and a map of which states Hillary would lose and which states Donald Trump would win. We had doubts about New Hampshire and Colorado. We forecast a Trump win with 281 electoral votes. We only left three states as “too close to call”. Those states? Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania. We thought Trump would win at least two of those states which would make for a larger margin of victory.
On election night, as the New York Times projected a 98% chance of a Hillary win, we provided stellar election coverage (our comments section is an historical record of the play-by-play as the election hurtled towards a Trump victory worthy of Greek drama from the ancient world.) Other websites on the left called a early victory for Hillary. We said, “Trump Will Win.”
The goons of the left knew deep in their bones that Hillary would win. The New York Times, Nate Silver’s silly 538 site, Huff n’ Puff Post loons, DailyKooks, all declared a quick and easy victory for Hillary Clinton even as the night disappeared with only three hours left. Those last three hours however made our analysis that much smarter.
Hillary Clinton never saw it coming. The train. The Trump train. The Trump train that was about to mow her down. And that is why Hillary Clinton is deranged and unhinged.
Hillary Clinton and her voters acted out the latest American Horror Story: Cult. They were sure of victory. No way a man that had never run for political office or been an Eisenhower who won the war in Europe, no way could he win. No way. No way. No way. Then he won.

Update: President Trump is like Motown Records in it’s heyday – the hits just keep on coming! Today President Trump approved the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines. Many presumed President Trump would wait on those until his EPA nominee was confirmed by the Senate, but President Trump won’t be delayed. President Trump also signed an executive order commanding the “… Commerce Department to maximize the use of U.S. steel in constructing the pipes for these projects. ‘We will build our own pipelines. We will build our own pipes. … Like we used to in the old days,’ he said.”
In addition, President Trump signed executive orders again ordering the Commerce Department to streamline the “extremely cumbersome” process of obtaining permits for manufacturing projects. Another executive order commanded expedited “environmental reviews and approvals.” President Trump declared “We can’t be in an environmental [review] process for 15 years if a bridge is going to be falling down or if a highway is crumbling.”
President Trump also announced his Supreme Court nominee will be made public next week.
That all happened before noon. This Trump guy appears to be high energy.
President Trump’s first week day and first week will be filled with surprises and gifts galore. This might be an update kind of day as developments develop.
On President Trump’s first half day, Friday, he was inaugurated and signed several executive orders which will have bite as time goes on. On President Trump’s first weekend day he attended a prayer service. Also on President Trump’s first weekend day there was a funeral called the “women’s march”.
The phony “women’s march” on Saturday was a funeral attended by corpses. The phony “women’s march” was a celebration of Islam, that hates women. The phony “women’s march” ignored the fact that Trump was elected by a majority of white women. The phony “women’s march” was seriously “a day late”.
Imagine if the phony “women’s march” had taken place on the day after Hillary Clinton was nominated as the first woman presidential candidate of a major party – we would have taken it to mean a serious challenge and the birth of a counter-revolution by reactionary forces prepared to fight. He summed up the substance of his campaign in a ‘Contract With The American Voter’ – a point-by-point set of initiatives that track with the themes he has focused on for 16 months.
Included are six anti-corruption pledges, seven actions related to jobs and trade and five on immigration and the ‘rule of law.’ He ended his contract with a list of 10 bills he said he would try to quickly shepherd through Congress.

Trump and that phony endorsement freed Paul Ryan to constantly attack Donald J. Trump and never say a word in any way critical about Hillary2016. Paul Ryan was in a sweet spot.
Paul Ryan was in a win/win position no matter what happened in November. If Hillary2016 won Paul Ryan saw himself as the premier Republican leader, as he would have been. More importantly, Paul Ryan wants to pass TPP and illegal immigration amnesty and a Trump loss in November would allow Speaker Ryan to do just that. Quisling Paul Ryan would pass the Chamber of Commerce agenda in the House. If Donald J. Trump won, Speaker Paul Ryan would be the leader of the Republican House of Representatives and Speaker Ryan would lead the Dims and a rump group of Republicans in opposition to Trump. Whatever happened in November, Paul Ryan had it gamed out as a win.
But then Paul Ryan overreached and now Paul Ryan is in a lose/lose position. If Hillary2016 wins, Paul Ryan will be booted as Speaker. If Donald J. Trump wins, Paul Ryan will be booted as Speaker. Sleazy Politico reports that in the swing states the GOP leaders are standing with Trump. This is an attack against Paul Ryan. Rasmussen polls showed Donald J. Trump on Monday behind by seven. By the end of the week Rasmussen has Trump up by two. As M. Joseph Sheppard documents, the tracking polls after some ups and downs during the week, nothing much changed on the poll front despite all the pearl clutching and hair pulling. Trump is also rebounding in the state polls.
When citizens are frustrated with the way things are going in the nation, they may be motivated to vote for change.
As we have repeatedly noted every time Chicken Little squawks “It’s over for Trump”, this is a change election. In a change election the candidate for change wins.
So what happened this past week? This past week Big Media decided to pummel Donald J. Trump with everything available because nothing thus far has made “It’s over for Trump” true. Big Media is using polls to legitimize the Big Media attacks against Trump. Many of the polls are entirely cooked. Big Media attacks Trump then highlights even the least movement in the polls against Trump to demonstrate it is the people that are against Trump. But then Trump fights back. The people see Trump fight back. The people decide to stand with Trump. It’s a movement for change. Big change, not chump change.

Wikileaks: ‘Anti-SJW’ Heat Street Founder Louise Mensch Pitched Ad Script to Hillary Clinton Campaign
Former British Conservative Party Member of Parliament and “right wing” blogger Louise Mensch privately tried to assist the Hillary Clinton campaign, emails published by Wikileaks reveal.
Mrs. Mensch runs the Rupert Murdoch-backed blog Heat Street, which claims to stand against identity politics and what it labels “social justice warriors” under the slogan “no safe spaces.”
However, its editor in chief, Mrs. Mensch, was caught writing a campaign advertisement script for the Democratic candidate – a woman who has traded off identity politics and social justice warrior politics. The ad appears to be based on the idea that Mrs. Clinton should be in office simply because she is female and is supported by “multiracial” women.
“… much rather have your girl Hillary,” Mrs. Mensch wrote in an email to Michael Kives of Creative Arts Agency (CAA), a former Clinton campaign advocate.
She said Hillary’s “intelligence [is] beyond doubt” but argued she “is not capitalizing on the yearning that we have to see a woman as President,” before scripting the campaign ad named “OUR TIME.”
Big Media is the enemy. Some in Big Media who believe the role of the media is to inform the American public have a problem with Trump because of the bias of their own circumstances. For instance the political heavyweight analyst Michael Barone is capable of seeing the bias in himself:
Overall, as I wrote on debate night, I think Clinton won the debate. Perhaps that reflects a professional writer’s prejudice in favor of people who speak, more or less, in whole sentences and paragraphs, and prejudice against those who engage in free-form, parenthetical-filled, free-association discourse. Or perhaps a former political consultant’s bias in favor of candidates who are well prepared. But on reflection and looking over the transcript, I think Trump did a fairly good job of discouraging marginal voters from voting for Clinton, more than I appreciated as I watched the debate.
Barone made that analysis of the first debate. He thought Hillary won but Barone acknowledged his bias favors the conventional candidate who speaks and strategizes in a conventional way, the way Barone would speak and strategize. Unfortunately, Barone let his prejudices and bias cloud his initial response to the first debate. Big Media power wielders should do an analysis based on their initial reactions but temper their reactions with honest assessments “on the other hand”.
Most Big Media writers no longer view their role to inform the public as their responsibility. Big Media today views their role as “not mere stenographers. We decide whose voices to elevate. We amplify information. We generate the narratives that define public discourse… the power of information and those who wield it.”
In this election it is Donald J. Trump and the people against Big Media. Nothing else matters. All else is subordinate. The thirst of the guillotine must be quenched. The ruling political class must be destroyed.

This here Trump feller is one smart cookie. He’s a chess player yes. But he’s an even better poker player. During the primaries when the election was fixed against him in favor of Jeb Bush, Trump repeatedly said that if the Republican Party did not treat him fairly he would walk, and take his millions of voters along. The result was the Republican Party forced a loyalty oath on him, which Trump craftily used to trap the other nominees and the Party hierarchy, which in the end resulted in a Trump nomination victory.
Trump knew all about the art of the deal and Trump knew the GOP could not afford to lose his voters. As Trump won primaries, the GOP establishment in the form of the Mitt Romney clowns tried to use Ted Cruz as their cat’s paw to destroy Trump. Instead Trump beat them all. But rust never sleeps and these rusty political clowns continued to troll the streets in an attempt to scare Donald J. Trump.
Twelve days into October we can see the green felt table in the Riverboat with Donald J. Trump, in a vest, bands around his biceps, over his white cotton shirt, a Maverick style cowboy hat with silver band on his head tilted back, playing high stakes poker with blue eyed pus*y boy Paul Ryan.
Question: “When you’re not talking about politics, what do you and your father talk about?”

Paul Ryan thought he was clever. The tricks the little blue eyed pus*y boy plays on Capitol Hill, he thought, would be used against Trump to great effect. First, before-during-after the convention, attack Trump every chance you get for whatever Trump says all the while pretending you have made your peace with the Trump nomination. Second, at a crucial moment before a debate and a few weeks before the election, finally announce at the end of a press release that you invited Donald J. Trump for the first time to a campaign event in your home district. Third, after the invitation release the tape that shocks pus*y boys, in order to destroy Trump. Fourth, signal the grassy knoll firing squad with a very public “disinvitation” and denunciation of Trump. Fifth, get pus*y boy Mormon and Romney ally Jason Chaffetz to withdraw his endorsement. Sixth, get more pus*sies to disendorse Trump. Seven, after Ayotte, McCain, and tens of other GOPers denounce Trump, have everyone call on Trump to withdraw and hint the replacement will be the VP nominee Mike Pence even though everyone knows it would be Paul Ryan.
Paul Ryan’s plan never would have worked but Ryan never thought of that, because Ryan is a pus*y boy about to be schlonged by the big fingered Trump.
Why would the Paul Ryan plan never have worked? Because Trump is a fighter that does not quit. Trump wrote the Art of the Deal so he knows how to negotiate. Trump knows when to hold them and when to fold them. In short, Trump is a smart man and Paul Ryan is a pus*y boy. The definition of a pus*y boy? A pus*y boy does not have a strong woman’s vagina – he is only good at getting fuc*ed.
So after all the plotting, pus*y boy Paul Ryan found himself at a green felt table, in a Riverboat, playing poker with Donald J. Trump, six-shooters at his side fully loaded and rarin’ to blast. Trump got dealt his hand and then pus*y boy grabbed his, um, cards. Pus*y boy Paul placed his bet that Trump would get out after Trump saw all the chips arrayed against him.
Pus*y boy Paul placed his chips on the table – Chaffetz, the Gropinator Arnold Schwarzenegger (the guy that groped all those women and who while married to a Kennedy, impregnated his own maid), John McCain (the guy that has the dirtiest mouth in D.C. having even called his own wife a “cunt” and a “whore”), and threats of more, although Trump knew pus*y boy Paul had no more chips to play. Trump knew that at the Wisconsin event Trump was disinvited from some in the home town crowd booed the pus*y boy. Trump knew that Joe Heck of Nevada was also booed for his attacks on Trump. Trump knew he held, the trump cards.
So after pus*y boy Paul placed his bet, piled all his chips in the center of the table, the moment arrived. Would Trump meet the bet? Or would Trump fold, throw down his cards in surrender? Trump did what the pus*y boy never expected. Trump not only met the bet, Trump did what Trump does – TRUMP RAISED THE STAKES!!!!!
Trump put his chips on the table. Trump’s chips are the Republican Party at every level, the House of Representatives, and the U.S. Senate. Trump made it clear: “if I walk, I take my voters with me and you lose not only the White House, the Supreme Court, the Senate but you also lose all your power in the House of Representatives.” Trump made it clear he understood that a House of Representatives run by a Republican pus*y boy and a Senate run by a self interested conniver would stand up to the next president about as much as they stood up to Barack Obama. Trump knew without him in the White House TPP would pass almost immediately as would illegal immigration amnesty – and the Supreme Court that bowed to Obama on ObamaCare would be even worse. So Trump knew his voters and the American People had nothing to lose. Without Trump in the White House it was all over. So Trump raised the stakes in an international game of poker that even James Bond would not dare play.
Members on the call with Ryan described tense exchanges. The call lasted for about 45 minutes, before abruptly ending.
However, the Republican National Committee has pledged its continued support.
Some of the GOP’s most conservative lawmakers also continue to back Trump and chastise those who have abandoned him.
“We have to get on board. It’s all in or nothing,” Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert, who was on Ryan’s call, told Fox News on Tuesday.
He said 11 House members are with Ryan, whom Gohmert also lambasted for saying his focus is now on ensuring that Clinton doesn’t enter the White House with Democrats having taken control of the House, too.
“It’s not going to happen,” said Gohmert, arguing the Republicans now control the House and Senate but have not effectively stopped the Obama administration’s agenda.
Another House member on the call said outspoken California Rep. Dana Rohrabacher called Republican leaders “cowards.”
Pus*y Ryan and the GOP establishment only have energy to attack Donald J. Trump. The GOP establishment coddles Obama. Promises from the GOP of future action are null and void ab initio.

There are some Trump supporters, Monica Crowley on Tuesday night for instance, who believe that Donald J. Trump should let surrogates attack the GOP and that Trump should only go after Hillary2016. We respectfully disagree.
We believe Donald J. Trump should continue to be unshackled for the remainder of the week. Trump has been getting his kicks in at the opposition party in the form of Hillary2016. But Donald J. Trump’s real opposition is the ruling class establishment – particularly the establishment of the Republican Party – and Big Media. We think Trump should continue to break the GOP Quislings and Big Media all this week and into next.
Trump can turn his attacks and attention against Hillary2016 after he dispatches his GOP opposition party. Next week there will be another debate. Trump can go to the debate having defeated the GOP establishment and Big Media. Then Trump can take on Hillary2016.

We remember a get together with liberal activist Democrats years ago. The Monica Lewinsky story broke that very hour. George Stephanoupoulos predicted Bill Clinton could not survive until his State of the Union speech. Big Media and Democrat politicians knew it was all over. At our little get together the overwhelming consensus was “it’s over for Bill”. There was one voice that disagreed.
At that get together we stood up to scoff at the conventional wisdom. Our prediction was “this will make Bill stronger than ever.” A few days later Bill Clinton’s poll numbers jumped up sixteen percent. Republicans thought the Lewinsky sex scandal would finish him off and Democrats who wanted a leftist in office wanted Bill Clinton gone. We based our contrary opinion that night on the fact that Americans knew Bill Clinton was not a choir boy. We knew Americans don’t like contrived controversies to distract from the big issues. Which brings us to tonight and the presidential debate at 9:00.
What should Donald J. Trump do? Take a page from Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton survived and thrived because at the State of the Union speech he demonstrated personal control and stamina and stuck to the issues American care about. Trump should sincerely apologize, say he has changed during this presidential campaign, and say he will speak to the issues Americans face.
At that point to everything Hillary Clinton says Donald J. Trump should reply with “but what is your private view, the view you really hold behind closed doors with your Wall Street donors?”
Hillary Clinton and the moderators will not let Trump do that. They will continue with their Pussy riot. At that point we will discard all our previously held opinions which are that sex scandals against the Clintons don’t profit Republicans. At that point Donald J. Trump can make a very spirited and successful attack against Bill Clinton’s predatory behaviors and Hillary Clinton’s defense of same. Republicans will finally get the fight on sex they always wanted. This time they will finally win.
Well, not all Republicans will win. Donald J. Trump, when pressed tonight about Paul Ryan, John McCain, Jason Chaffetz, Kelly Ayotte, and others running for office who have denounced Trump or even declared they will not vote for Trump could declare that many of his voters will now abandon those who abandoned Trump. Republicans in close elections like Ayotte, Kirk, and Heck, should be told in certain terms that Trump voters will not vote for those who stab Trump in the back. The pressure on Paul Ryan, booed by Trump supporters yesterday at a Ryan rally, should make clear to the GOP establishment that if they attack Trump, Trump voters will attack them.
As to Hillary Clinton, she should abandon the Pussy riot attacks. Donald J. Trump will attack if Hillary Clinton tries the Pussy riot attack.
Donald J. Trump can ask young women how they can support a candidate that has attacked women who complained about rape? Trump can remind young women that Hillary Clinton stood by Bill Clinton – who used a young woman in the White House as a cigar humidor. Donald J. Trump can ask young women not to have as their role model either Hillary Clinton who defends a sex predator and who’s top aide remained by the side of her husband even as Anthony Weiner sexted erect penis pictures, took engorged penis pictures with his 4 year old son next to him, and even sexted a 15 year old girl. See what we mean. Young women who connect the dots will not like the picture. This can get very ugly. Very ugly.
As we advised earlier, Donald J. Trump should stick to the issues. At the same time every response from Hillary Clinton should be “rinse, repeat” questions and Trump should ask “but what is your private view, the view you really hold behind closed doors with your Wall Street donors?” If Trump wants to reach out to Bernie Sanders supporters this is how to do it. Bernie Sanders supporters, as Yahoo news reports, are “seething”.
Also as we advised before, Donald J. Trump should ask how someone in public life for decades has managed to amass well over a hundred million dollars. Trump can ask why all the Hillary Clinton proposals have not been done by Barack Obama. Trump can ask why in her long career Hillary Clinton has not achieved what she say she will now finally achieve. It all rather a simple line of attack from Trump.
Trump, as we advised, should remind the American public tonight that Bill Clinton knows that ObamaCare is crazy and does not work. ObamaCare viciously extracts money from the hardworking middle and working classes to give to big insurance companies. Why does Hillary Clinton defend ObamaCare?

Hillary Clinton will try to goad Donald Trump into silly side issues at the debate. Hopefully Trump will ignore the silly issues and get to the powerful responses he can provide. There is some hope Trump will heed our advice at the second debate because Trump immediately turned to Bill Clinton for help after the tape emerged. Trump said Bill Clinton had said worse to him on the golf course. We imagine that Newt Gingrich might soon come forth with his memories of when Bill Clinton in the White House told him ‘there is nothing better than a glass of Scotch, a cigar, and some pus*y’.
Trump’s immediate go to Bill Clinton for his defense is smart. When we first started considering what Trump and Hillary should do at the second debate we thought Bill Clinton should have been the topic of greatest value for Trump. As we advised Mike Pence, we thought Pence should use Bill Clinton’s attack on ObamaCare as the focus of the second debate. Not any more. Donald Trump has even bigger fish to fry.

Supporters of U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, the independent socialist from Vermont, are likely to be turned off by remarks that Clinton wants open borders and open trade.
“My dream is a hemispheric common market, with open trade and open borders, some time in the future with energy that is as green and sustainable as we can get it, powering growth and opportunity for every person in the hemisphere,” Clinton told Banco Itau, a Brazilian bank, on May 16, 2013.

Sunday’s debate will be a “town hall”. This means that Martha Raddatz and Anderson Cooper will pretend audience members will ask the candidates questions. In reality Martha and Anderson will write questions and they select some dupe in the audience to ask the question. Fortunately for Donald J. Trump he is very good in this type of forum.
Hillary Clinton’s smartest move on Sunday is to goad Donald J. Trump with attacks on his father and his family. Donald J. Trump’s smartest move is not to allow himself to be goaded but instead focus on “open borders” and ObamaCare. Those are winners for him. Trump at every turn should be kind and gracious to the audience and turn every answer into an attack on “open borders” and ObamaCare.
Whenever Hillary Clinton says anything Trump can ask if that is her public or private view. Then Trump can ask Hillary why she has not executed her proposal over her decades in office. Then Trump can ask Hillary why Obama has not done what she proposes. Rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat.
The immediate problem for Democrats this year is simple, really: it is hard to criticize power when your own leader is the most powerful person in the land.
The larger problem facing them is the terminal irrelevance of their great, overarching campaign theme. Remember the “man from Hope”? “Hope is on the way”? “Keep hope alive”? Well, this year “hope” is most assuredly dead. Thanks to Obama’s flagrant hope-dealing in the dark days of 2008 – followed up by his failure to reverse the disintegration of the middle class – this favorite Democratic cliché has finally become just that: an empty phrase. Today as the Democrats go into battle against Trump, they find that their rallying cry has lost its magic. Hillary is discovering how difficult it is to win an election without hope.

The new Republicans would no longer be the party of “business and the privileged,” but the protector of a disenfranchised working class.
This was unplanned. If it happens, it’ll be a change that takes place not because conservative leaders ever wanted it, but because voters demanded it.

All of this soul-searching is happening now because the maniac Trump has hijacked a portion of the Republican base and is driving it off an electoral cliff. (He will clutch his own hand all the way down in the inevitable Thelma & Louise crash ending.)
Republican propaganda for decades pushed magical-thinking concepts like “trickle-down economics” that asked lower-income voters to accept present sacrifices for theoretical bigger payoffs down the road.
Until this year, Republican voters mostly bought it. But Trump was their way of telling their leaders they’re done waiting. They want their piece of the pie now, even if it means unleashing the Trumpinator to get it.
People have been conscious of the defection of working-class voters to the Republican Party for years, but this has always been dismissed as the consequence of skillfull propaganda. It’s the What’s the Matter With Kansas? creation story, i.e., that the white working class has been hoodwinked into going against its own economic interests thanks to cynical/backward appeals to race, religion and culture.
But that isn’t the whole story, as some leading Democrats are beginning to realize. Joe Biden went on Morning Joe a few weeks ago and admitted that “the Democratic Party over all hasn’t spoken enough to [working-class voters],” the “ordinary people busting their necks.” [snip]
The problem with all of this is that the Democrats went so far in the direction of advocacy for the global religion that they made something as idiotic as the rise of unabashed nativist Donald Trump possible.
Worse, Trump’s rise will give the Globalist Faith Militant an automatic argument for more time. They will decry any criticism of free trade or globalization as racist Trumpism, and Trump is such a galactic jackass that this will work, his vast inventory of offensive bleatings discrediting even the legitimate economic concerns of his voters.
But expecting American politicians to advocate first and foremost for their own constituents isn’t isolationism. It’s just rational self-interest, which neoliberals only seem to disbelieve in when it pertains to labor. Moreover we didn’t call movements to disinvest from South Africa or the Soviet Union “nativism.” We called that idealism.
Matt Bai is so stupid, so full of hate, he can’t see past his anti-Trump jingoism. If Matt Bai had an ounce of intellectual honesty he would praise Trump for telling the truth and fighting for the working class. But the left is so corrupt we cannot expect anything like honesty from their precincts.
Consider, both major political parties for their own selfish reasons, seek to impose illegal immigration amnesty, common core, disaster trade policies such as TPP. Both parties are in cahoots on these issues. Donald J. Trump is against illegal immigration amnesty, common core, disaster trade policies.
The GOP establishment wants to sell the notion that the problem with Donald J. Trump is one of “tone” and bombastic “personality”. But the GOP establishment’s problem with Donald J. Trump is one of policy. That’s why there can be no peace. One must die for the other to live.
Donald J. Trump is against what both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party want to impose on this nation. Recall that many of the abominations of the Obama gangster government were birthed by Republicans. TARP, Common Core, bailouts, trade deals – were authored by George W. Bush and then co-authored by Barack Obama. ObamaCare? It used to be called RomneyCare.
Donald J. Trump is against what both the Democratic Party of Barack Obama and the Republican Party of George W. Bush have imposed on American citizens. The American people are against what the Democratic Party of Barack Obama and the Republican Party of George W. Bush have wrought. That’s why there is a New Republican Party rising.
Donald J. Trump, aided and abetted by the voters, will bring about a realignment – a New Republican Party.
The last three Donald J. Trump speeches are the building blocks of the New Republican Party. The first speech was a tough discussion on terrorism. The second speech is the one we focused on in Part I. This second speech was a direct appeal to black voters (and a clever way to appeal to white suburban voters who don’t want to be perceived as “racist”) and an attack on lobbyists and the “rigged system”. At the end of the second speech Trump summed it all up – an appeal to blacks and the poor and an attack on the rigged system that benefits the powerful political establishment:
Let’s talk about what this means for the inner cities of America. It’s time to break through the television noise, the entrenched interests. I understand that a lot of powerful people in our political system – a lot of people who’ve created our problems – will lose a lot of their contracts, and their special gigs, if African-American voters, and all minority voters, support my campaign.
It’s time to stop making the special interests rich. It’s time to make the American people rich.
I am going to Make America Wealthy Again.
The Democratic Party has run nearly every inner city in this country for 50 years, and run them into financial ruin.
They’ve ruined the schools.
They’ve driven out the jobs.
They’ve tolerated a level of crime no American should consider acceptable.
Violent crime has risen 17% in America’s 50 largest cities last year. Killings of police officers this year is up nearly 50 percent. Homicides are up more than 60% in Baltimore. They are up more than 50% in Washington, D.C.
This is the future offered by Hillary Clinton. More poverty, more crime, and more of the same. The future she offers is the most pessimistic thing I can possibly imagine.
It is time for a different future.
Here is what I am proposing.
First, on immigration. No community in this country has been hurt worse by Hillary Clinton’s immigration policies than the African-American community. Now she is proposing to print instant work permits for millions of illegal immigrants, taking jobs directly from low-income Americans. [snip]
On trade, I am going to renegotiate NAFTA, stand up to China, withdraw from the TPP, and protect every last American job.
On taxes, I am going to give a massive tax cut to every worker and small business in this country, bring thousands of new companies and millions of new jobs onto our shores – and make it very difficult for our businesses to leave.
I am going to reform our regulations so jobs stay in America, and new businesses come to America to hire workers right here in Milwaukee. Every policy my opponent has sends jobs overseas. I am going to bring trillions in new wealth back to the United States.
On education, it is time to have school choice, merit pay for teachers, and to end the tenure policies that hurt good teachers and reward bad teachers. We are going to put students and parents first.
Hillary Clinton would rather deny opportunities to millions of young African-American children, just so she can curry favor with the education bureaucracy.
I am going to allow charter schools to thrive, and help young kids get on the American ladder of success: a good education, and a good-paying job.
On crime, I am going to support more police in our communities, appoint the best prosecutors and judges in the country, pursue strong enforcement of federal laws, and I am going to break up the gangs, the cartels and criminal syndicates terrorizing our neighborhoods. To every lawbreaker hurting innocent people in this country, I say: your free reign will soon come crashing to an end.
On healthcare, we are going to get rid of Obamacare – which has caused soaring double-digit premium increases – and give choice to patients and consumers. Aetna, just today, announced they are dropping out – as are many of the major insurance companies.
On government corruption, I am going to restore honor to our government. We’ve seen the corruption of Hillary Clinton, the mass email deletions, the pay-for-play at the State Department, the profiteering, the favors given to foreign corporations and governments at your expense. We’ve seen a former Secretary of State lie to Congress about her illegal email scheme, risk innocent American lives, and bring dishonor onto our government.
In my Administration, I am going to enforce all laws concerning the protection of classified information. No one will be above the law.
I am going to forbid senior officials from trading favors for cash by preventing them from collecting lavish speaking fees through their spouses when they serve.
I am going to ask my senior officials to sign an agreement not to accept speaking fees from corporations with a registered lobbyist for five years after leaving office, or from any entity tied to a foreign government. This is all just the beginning.
We are going to make this a government of the people once again. This is our chance to take back power from all the people who’ve taken it from you. The reason you see the establishment media lining up behind my opponent is because they are scared that you, with your vote, can take away their power and return it to your family and community.
These are tough times. But I know we can make American Greater Than Ever Before.
To do this, we are going to need a fighter in the White House.

The only individuals she’s ever delivered for is her donors – not the people.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. My opponent asks her supporters to repeat a three-word pledge. Her pledge reads: “I’m With Her”
I choose to recite a different pledge. My pledge reads: “I’m With You – the American people.”
I will fight to ensure that every American is treated equally, protected equally, and honored equally. We will reject bigotry and hatred and oppression in all of its forms, and seek a new future of security, prosperity and opportunity – a future built on our common culture and values as one American people.
I am asking for your vote so I can be your champion in the White House. We will once again be a country of law and order, and a country of great success.
To every parent who dreams for their children, and to every child who dreams for their future, I say these words to you tonight: I’m with you, I will fight for you, and I will win for you.

These are the forgotten men and women in our society, and they are angry at so much on so many levels. The poverty, the unemployment, the failing schools, the jobs moving to other countries.
I am fighting for these forgotten Americans.
Trump also addressed the world he comes from which helps to explain the departure of Paul Manafort and Corey Lewandowski as well as the new team Trump has assembled. A builder like Trump understands that you hire the crane operator only for as long as she is needed, once the job is done, the project moves forward. Manafort’s job was to appease the Republican establishment during the Republican convention and to make sure Trump secured the delegates for the convention. Manafort did his job. Now a new team was needed.
In the world of Trump you do your job. The mission comes first. The excavator arrives to dig the earth so the foundation can be laid and once that job is done the excavators leave. The iron workers arrive to build the skeletal frame then the iron workers leave. The bricklayers arrive to their job followed by the contractors who border rooms with their plasterboard, followed by the carpenters, painters, floor installers, electricians, and eventually the tenants.
Trump comes from a world of easy to see achievements:
In the world I come from, if something is broken, you fix it.
If something isn’t working, you replace it.
If a product doesn’t deliver, you make a change.
I have no patience for injustice, no tolerance for government incompetence, no sympathy for leaders who fail their citizens.
That’s why I am running: to end the decades of bitter failure and to offer the American people a new future of honesty, justice and opportunity. A future where America, and its people, always – and I mean always – come first.
Aren’t you tired of a system that gets rich at your expense?
Aren’t you tired of the same old lies and the same old broken promises? And Hillary Clinton has proven to be one of the greatest liars of all time.
Aren’t you tired of arrogant leaders who look down on you, instead of serving and protecting you?

Instead, every story is told from the perspective of the insiders. It’s the narrative of the people who rigged the system, never the voice of the people it’s been rigged against.
So many people suffering in silence. No cameras, no coverage, no outrage from a media class that seems to get outraged over just about everything else.
So again, it’s not about me. It’s never been about me. It’s about all the people in this country who don’t have a voice.

I am running to be the voice for every forgotten part of this country that has been waiting and hoping for a better future.
I am glad that I make the powerful a little uncomfortable now and again – INCLUDING SOME POWERFUL PEOPLE IN MY OWN PARTY. Because it means I am fighting for real change.
There’s a reason the hedge fund managers, the financial lobbyists, the Wall Street investors, are throwing their money at Hillary Clinton. Because they know she will make sure the system stays rigged in their favor.
It’s the powerful protecting the powerful.
The insiders fighting for the insiders.

Them’s fighting words. Trump is birthing a New Republican Party with appeals to all the disaffected.
One last point, the rope-a-dope. While Hillary has disappeared more or less from the campaign trail, on most days Donald Trump is active every day. Trump and Hillary both knew that the stupid Olympic games (can’t we rid ourselves of this silliness or relegate the games to every ten years?) would suck up the news cycle. Hillary effectively disappeared during this period. Trump’s strategy has been to soak up attention with campaign appearances in state after state knowing he could break on local television through the sports fog.
But Donald J. Trump’s most audacious rope-a-dope strategy, the most nerve racking strategy, has been to rely on free attention from Big Media and not spend cash this summer season. Hillary2016 by contrast has spent money hand over fist which has led to higher poll ratings. The results are classic Muhammad Ali rope-a-dope:

Donald Trump doubled his campaign expenses last month yet was still spending at a far slower clip than Hillary Clinton.
New finance documents show the Republican presidential nominee’s campaign spent about $18.5 million in July. By comparison, the Democratic presidential nominee spent about $38 million.
Boxer Muhammad Ali had a boxing strategy. Knowing his opponent’s strength and fully aware of that power, Ali went to the ropes surrounding the boxing ring. There, Ali took blow after blow, brutal punch after brutal punch. Ali only jabbing back sufficiently to convince the referee that he was still able to fight so the ref would not end the fight. Ali, in his “protective stance” against the ropes encouraged the beating delivered by his opponent, who now sells hamburger grills. Ali, took to the ropes to rope himself a dope. “The plan is to cause the opponent to punch himself out and make mistakes which the boxer can then exploit in a counter-attack.” Compare Ali, to Trump:
At the time some observers thought that Ali was being horribly beaten and worried that they might see him get killed in the ring. [snip] However, far from being brutalized, Ali was relatively protected from Foreman’s blows. Norman Mailer described the advantage of Ali’s rope-a-dope this way: “Standing on one’s feet, it is painful to absorb a heavy body punch even when blocked with one’s arm. The torso, the legs and the spine take the shock. Leaning on the ropes, however, Ali can pass it along; the rope will receive the strain.” Ali’s preparation for the fight, which involved toughening himself up by allowing his sparring partners to pummel him, contributed to observers’ sense that Ali was outmatched. But when Foreman became tired from the beating he was delivering, Ali took advantage and won the match.
The dumb observers were wrong. Like Ali, Donald J. Trump has been considered out for the count. But like Ali, Trump comes out punching at a time of his choosing, in accord with his strategy. The time to punch forward starts this week, just before Labor Day as attention to political campaigns increases, as the Olympic tomfoolery ends.
