They were Marines. Musical Marines. They’re gone now, but we remember, this Memorial Day 2017.
The only group composed entirely of active duty service members to hit #1 on the music charts. Easier said than done, to hit #1 on the music charts, but they were Marines. Named after an aircraft carrier:
Founding members Walter Vickers (guitar) and Rodney Taylor (drums) were members of the United States Marine Corps stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After being transferred to Camp LeJeune in North Carolina, they enlisted fellow Marines Billy Hill (aka Billy Proctor) and Rudolph Johnson as group members. Next they added a female lead singer, Anita Humes, another Marine.
The band was signed to a recording contract in 1963 after submitting a demo to Roulette Records. “Easier Said Than Done” was written by Larry Huff and William Linton. Released as the B side of their first single, the song reached the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. The track sold over one million records and received a gold disc award from the R.I.A.A. “Easier Said Than Done” charted at #41 in the UK Singles Chart in August 1963.
Anita Humes was the last survivor of the group named after the light strike carrier Essex. Humes died in 2010.
We can’t think of any current popular musical group with a record contract composed of active duty personnel.
There have been musical stars that served in the armed forces of the United States – but none that achieved fame as a group while in service. The Everly Brothers, hit the top of the music charts before active duty service. They were Marines.
Elvis. Joined the United States Army in a state of fame.
Guitar legend Jimi Hendrix was in the Army.
Hendrix was not a bright light in the service. But once out of service, as a musical star, he served along the watchtower:
Staff Sgt. Barry Sadler (November 1, 1940 – November 5, 1989) was a Green Beret. For five weeks starting on March 2, 1966, his song was #1 on the music charts:
“The Ballad of the Green Berets” was released by RCA Victor Records became a fast-selling single, holding No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for five consecutive weeks from March 5 to April 2, 1966. The record sold more than a million copies. The song was a great success in many U.S. cities; it scored five weeks at No. 1 on the weekly Good Guys music survey at WMCA, the top popular music radio station in New York during 1966. He sang it for his television début on January 30 on The Ed Sullivan Show. Sadler recorded an album of similarly themed songs which he titled Ballads of the Green Berets. It sold a million copies during the first five weeks of its release. Sadler had another minor success, the similarly patriotic-themed “The ‘A’ Team”, later the same year when that single scored #28.
According to the ribbons and badges worn by Sadler in a televised performance of “The Ballad of the Green Berets,” he received the following awards for his military service: Purple Heart Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the South Vietnamese Parachutist Badge.
The ribbons shown in Sadler’s television performance mentioned above did not represent all of Sadler’s awards. Sadler was also entitled to the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He had the option of replacing the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with the Vietnam Service Medal.
We’ve written of Memorial Day and its origins in earlier years. It’s a day to remember the fallen in service to the nation.
America owes an unpayable debt to our fallen heroes & their families.
During the Battle of Guadalcanal, Private Ahrens was mortally wounded while single-handedly fighting back a group of Japanese soldiers attempting to infiltrate Allied lines. After his superior officer discovered Ahrens the next morning surrounded by dead Japanese troops, he whispered these words and died.
Jared Kushner should be worried. Steve Bannon should be worried. Reince Priebus should be worried. They should all be worried and that’s because of President Trump’s brilliant management style.
Every management style has plusses and minuses. We happen to prefer President Trump’s management style. The other management style used by people such as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama simply does not work in our modern society with all its divisions.
Trump’s management style? President Trump is the center of the wheel. This makes President Trump a centripetal force when it comes to information. PDT sucks up information from all his aides, TV, publications, critics, everything and everyone.
The management style we don’t think works for a modern president is the pyramid management style. That is the management style of people like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. This pyramid style is very structured and everyone has a place in the pyramid. The president at the top of the pyramid has all his/her incoming information filtered through those immediately below him on the pyramid.
Big Media and the establishment of the country prefer the pyramid management style. Everyone has a place and all information is filtered through the pyramid. There are few if any surprises in the pyramid. The pyramid management style is excellent if your goal is structure and order. It’s not so good at getting things done other than the conventional. Lately conventional does not work.
President Trump’s management style is a vortex. It appears to be chaotic to everyone but the president at the center. Everyone competes to get the attention of the vortex center and the old rules of hierarchy and order are caught in the whirlwind.
Big Media hates the vortex. Big Media has long believed they are the masters of information. Big Media has been usurped by the center of the wheel for information gathering and information dissemination. Consider the latest “analysis” by Vanity Fair in their much discussed (by Big Media and Trump haters) article on the Trump White House:
THE INSIDE STORY OF THE KUSHNER-BANNON CIVIL WAR
West Wing sources come clean about the backstabbing, the bullying, the distrust, and the buzzing flies. [snip]
Priebus’s role is, by Trump’s design, less powerful than that of a traditional chief of staff. Typically, the chief of staff is meant to serve as the main gatekeeper to the president—having one person atop the hierarchy with unquestioned authority is essential—but Trump’s management style has long been to pit top aides against one another, and almost any senior aide can just wander into the Oval Office.
Oh, the horror!!! Vanity Fair cannot comprehend a free flow of information to the president. Vanity Fair craves the pyramid structure which has so spectacularly failed American voters/citizens with such regularity.
As a public service we will digest and excrete the entire Vanity Fair article which has titillated Big Media narratives for our readers. Vanity Fair‘s entire article on the Trump White House is one cheap and easy conceit. Vanity Fair declares that the Trump White House is like a “reality show”. The entire article populates the imagined “reality show” with characters from the Trump orbit. Isn’t that a “wow” so very very original? Uninspired bitchiness from hacks is the fare of Vanity Fair these days.
As with everything from Big Media these days, insipid chit-chat is what passes for “analysis” from Vanity Fair. Big Media takes everything Trump and puts a negative spin on it. It’s easy to do. Anyone can do it. If you have a loving relationship with a person, just label it “co-dependent” or “exploitative”. If a wonderful new technology is developed, describe all the horrors that could potentially come from the technology. You fall in love, “oh girlfriend you’re gonna regret it”. Anything and everything is turned into negative energy chit chat. Whatever it is, it is not “analysis”.
Good analysis of the Trump White House should examine the benefits and drawbacks of the Trump management style. The big drawback of the Trumpcentric universe is that if anything happens to Trump there will be a black hole of gravity at the center which will threaten to consume everything. Also, for the not very astute outside the vortex, the vortex appears as chaos. But as has been demonstrated since June 15, 2015 the vortex wins in the end and creates its own order and results. As long as President Trump remains healthy and active, we believe the benefits of the Trump vortex are greater than its deficits.
Of course the Trump vortex is not very good for those who work for Trump. The voter and President Trump benefit from the vortex but not the aides.
Consider Jared Kushner, the son-in-law. Big Media has declared that Jared Kushner is now king of the hill. To the extent that Kushner is family he is well positioned. Kushner, to quote from the chit-chat Vanity Fairairhead gossips is ascendant:
Ivanka Trump, who could play the No-BS Heiress in our reality show, and her husband, Jared, the Crafty In-Law, are both children of privilege and are both extraordinarily loyal to their fathers. The senior administration official told me that, with this president, it is “family above all else. That’s how he has lived his life. Anybody thinking they are going to win a fight against the family is not very smart.” Kushner has reportedly described himself as a “first among equals” among White House staffers—not an endearing self-assessment, but probably an accurate one—and has been given an almost laughable assortment of responsibilities. He is tasked not only with bringing peace to the Middle East but also with re-inventing the way the entire government does business. He is heavily involved in policy regarding China. He recently made a surprise trip to Iraq. In addition, he is now the boss of his father’s former tormentor, Chris Christie, who heads a White House commission to tackle the opioid crisis. Christie was the prosecutor who helped put Jared’s father, Charles Kushner, in prison, and Jared has not forgotten.
If Vanity Air tried to do “analysis” not gossip the mag rag could have pondered the situation Jared Kushner finds himself in. From the world of real estate in New York/New Jersey Jared Kushner has a background not entirely dissimilar from President Trump. But where President Trump is the center of the vortex, consuming information, and due to his life in public and the tabloids, able to command from the executive suite – Jared Kushner has very specific assignments to carry out on behalf of President Trump.
President Trump can make general decisions and issue orders. But no one expects President Trump to be an operative who picks up the hammer and saw to get the job done. That is precisely the situation Jared Kushner is in right now.
Jared Kushner has some very specific assignments. Will he succeed or fail? Middle East peace, China, opiods? That’s a very diverse portfolio. If Jared Kushner succeeds in these tasks who would be so churlish as to be unhappy he has done his job well? If Jared Kushner fails, then he will be called Icarus.
Anyone recall candidate Ben Carson? To be discreet and our typical sweet selves we won’t quote what Candidate Trump said about Candidate Carson. But it had something to do with Carson trying to kill his mother. Candidate Lyin’ Ted? Again, discretion is the better part of our nature, and we don’t mention Candidate Trump saying something about the assassination of JFK and Heidi and Daddy Cruz. Now Cruz helps PDT. Remember the wack-a-doodle two headed dentist, Candidate Rand Paul and the mockery unleashed by Candidate Trump against the diminutive senator? Senator Rand Paul is now a big Trump fan. What happened? It was the Trump Doctrine at play:
Do what President Trump wants you to do, and he loves you. Stand in President Trump’s way and a MOAB lands on your head.
Remember when Candidate Trump denounced NATO as obsolete? Now NATO is dancing to President Trump’s tune – taking on once-upon-a-time friend Putin and paying up on their dues. Result? President Trump no longer slaps NATO as obsolete. Trump “Art of the Deal-ed” them. President Trump got what Americans wanted – so as long as they do what this American president wants, NATO’s wheel spoke is up.
Remember the Import-Export Bank that Candidate Trump denounced – promised he would destroy? NeverTrump hysterics flow from President Trump’s latest moves on the Import-Export Bank. What did President Trump do? President Trump violated his campaign pledge to eliminate the bank. Or did he? President Trump just appointed Scott Garrett to the Import-Export Bank Board. Who is Scott Garrett? He hates the Import-Export Bank and nothing can be done without his “yes” vote.
China’s spoke on the wheel is up right now because China is doing what President Trump wants for the American people. Remember what President Trump said about China on the campaign trail? For diplomacy’s sake we won’t quote Candidate Trump. As long as China does what President Trump wants, China will be wined, dined, and praised. Until the moment when the wheel turns China is on top. The wheel will turn when President Trump makes more “Art of the Deal-y” demands.
Deng Xiaoping Theory (simplified Chinese: 邓小平理论; traditional Chinese: 鄧小平理論; pinyin: Dèng Xiǎopíng Lǐlùn), also known as Dengism, is the series of political and economic ideologies first developed by Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping. The theory does not claim to reject Marxism–Leninism or Mao Zedong Thought but instead seeks to adapt them to the existing socio-economic conditions of China.
Deng also stressed opening China to the outside world, the implementation of one country, two systems, and through the phrase “seek truth from facts“, an advocation of political and economic pragmatism. [snip]
One of the most famous maxims of Deng, dating back to the years before the Cultural Revolution, states that “It doesn’t matter whether a cat is white or black, as long as it catches mice.” In other words, he did not worry too much about whether a person is a revolutionary or not, as long as he or she is efficient and capable to do the job under the socialist economy. (This statement came to stand in opposition to the ideas of class struggle projected into economic relations, the latter being epitomized in a phrase “a socialist train coming with a delay is better than the capitalist one that comes on time“).
China largely owes its economic growth to the pragmatism of Deng Xiaoping’s theory. The task faced by Deng was twofold: to promote modernization while preserving the ideological unity of the CPC and its control of the difficult process of reforms.
If President Trump quoted commie Deng Xiaoping our Big Media would fawn all over sweetie pie commie Trump. President Trump is not commie Deng but there is no doubt that President Trump aides should remember “It doesn’t matter whether a cat is white or black, as long as it catches mice.”
During the presidential campaign Candidate Donald J. Trump stunned many when he either redefined “conservatism” to be what he thought. Remember “I am for free trade but I also want fair trade” that so shocked the conservative priesthood? Candidate Trump especially shocked, when denounced because he was not a “conservative, and responded with “who cares?”
That’s what so many who lament the rise of Kushner and the slump of Steve Bannon don’t get. After the failure of ObamaCare repeal because of the Freedom Caucus, President Trump did his usual “Art of the Deal-ing” moves. Trump immediately declared he was through with ObamaCare repeal, denounced the Freedom Caucus, and announced he would triangulate with Democrats to pass legislation. This shocked the pearl clutchers.
To slap awake the Freedom Caucus and wake them to the dangers of not passing ObamaCare repeal soon, President Trump played his trump card – Steve Bannon. If the Freedom Caucus did not cooperate even with a powerful Steve Bannon cajoling them, then either Steve Bannon is useless in dealings with the Freedom Caucus, or the Freedom Caucus is too contrarian to ever get anything done.
President Trump’s argument is “if this cat can’t catch mice, get rid of him. I’ll get rid of the rats another way.” The threat from President Trump is credible, not because of how he MOABed ISIS or Tomahawked Syria (although that does demonstrate the “#DFWM” doctrine) but because of campaign history. Corey Lewandowski was viewed as indispensable, until Paul Manafort became indispensable, until Steve Bannon/KellyAnne Conway became indispensable. Now Jared Kushner is indispensable.
All President Trump was doing was “Art of the Deal-ing”. President Trump knows Obama Dimocrats won’t help him or the American people to see Candidate Trump’s promises fulfilled. But the threat did some awfully good artful dealing. For all the complaints, the fact is that the Freedom Caucus came forth with a bit more pragmatism and now ObamaCare repeal is once again on the table and soon to be voted on.
Which brings us to Deng Xiaoping again. Something conservative NeverTrumpers should keep in mind. Let’s invert a Dengism to see what President Trump would like to do: “a capitalist train coming with a delay is better than the socialist one that comes on time“. That’s contrary to the postulate of the efficient cat. But it is a warning that the TrumpTrain will roll in the direction of Candidate Trump’s campaign as long as it rolls but if you try to stop it for reasons of ideological purity, then watch out, because the cat in the dark will come back. In other words what matters to President Trump is to get the job done, hopefully in the right way, but whichever way, the job will get done. The job, is Make America Great Again.
Some don’t understand that for President Trump the job is to Make America Great Again, not make ideology or particular leaders, or something or other great again. The threats of scandal thuggery coming from people like Mike Cernovich who are infatuated with themselves, are going nowhere. President Trump does not faint. The well intended warnings about false friends from Kurt Schlichter are best directed at those that think they can use President Trump as their toy.
Schlichter makes some good points about how close President Trump is to total victory and winning, winning, winning. But President Trump is the one who performed the miracle of election and he deserves better than faint praise.
President Trump knows what he is doing. He is at the center of the vortex. We recall when Vladimir Putin was going to be his best friend. Then Putin thought he was king of the hill. So Trump had to MOAB drop the Trump doctrine on Putin’s head.
The same forces aligned against Candidate Trump are still spreading the “chaos” “sell-out” “not a real conservative” narratives to undermine President Trump. But President Trump continues to strike like a TrumpNado for his goal of Make America Great Again.
President Trump is at the center of the vortex and in calm control. Where Big Media and NeverTrumpers see “chaos” President Trump sees the vortex of information flows. President Trump understands the vortex he is in. President Trump at the center of the vortex knows how to use what orbits around him to move in the direction he selects.
America’s enemies, foreign and domestic still don’t see the vortex, the TrumpNado as an intelligent force, moving deliberately to strike.
Update: It’s over for Yates. President Trump has fired her snowflake ass. Snowflake Yates put her feelings above her duties. Because the Senate has failed to confirm Jeff Sessions as Attorney General, an Obama twerp, Sally Yates, has been Acting Attorney General. Late today Yates put her feelings on display and declared she would not defend, nor have the Department of Justice lawyers defend in court, President Trump’s executive order on immigration:
Yates does not claim that she cannot defend the executive order because it is unconstitutional or because the Justice Department would be unable to offer good-faith arguments in defense of its legality. To the contrary, Yates claims she is ordering the Justice Department not to defend the executive order because it is not “wise or just.” This is quite significant. I am not aware of any instance in which the Justice Department has refused to defend a presumptively lawful executive action on this basis.
It didn’t take long for President Trump to unleash the heat on the snowflake:
Statement on the Appointment of Dana Boente as Acting Attorney General
The acting Attorney General, Sally Yates, has betrayed the Department of Justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States. This order was approved as to form and legality by the Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel.
Ms. Yates is an Obama Administration appointee who is weak on borders and very weak on illegal immigration.
It is time to get serious about protecting our country. Calling for tougher vetting for individuals travelling from seven dangerous places is not extreme. It is reasonable and necessary to protect our country.
Tonight, President Trump relieved Ms. Yates of her duties and subsequently named Dana Boente, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, to serve as Acting Attorney General until Senator Jeff Sessions is finally confirmed by the Senate, where he is being wrongly held up by Democrat senators for strictly political reasons.
“I am honored to serve President Trump in this role until Senator Sessions is confirmed. I will defend and enforce the laws of our country to ensure that our people and our nation are protected,” said Dana Boente, Acting Attorney General.
Could President Trump have waited? No, as theNew York Times noted of the snowflake, “She is the only one authorized to sign foreign surveillance warrants, an essential function at the department.” President Trump is on the job.
DRAIN THE SWAMP MR. PRESIDENT, DRAIN THE FREAKING SWAMP!!!
Chuck Schumer never cried when terrorists killed Americans. Chuck Schumer did not cry when Kate Steinle was shot dead by an illegal immigrant. Chuck Schumer never cried when Christians in the Middle East are slaughtered by Muslims. But Chuck Schumer cried because President Trump enforced the law to protect Americans.
Before you pass new laws you won’t enforce, enforce the law already on the books.
Marco Rubio and the political class wrote and tried to pass their “Comprehensive Immigration Reform Plan”. The Rubio political class “Comprehensive Immigration Reform Plan” was more millions of words added to the legislative and regulatory library, unread and entirely without meaning. All the millions of new words had no meaning because they would not have been enforced.
There is no point in passing a new law if it will not be enforced. There is no point in having a law if it is not enforced. A law that is not enforced is not a law, it is not even a suggestion. A law that is not enforced is a bunch of words devoid of meaning. That is to say, Barack Obama is the embodiment of the concept – a collection of words without meaning other than self-absorption.
Nothing has changed since we wrote that analysis in 2015. Liddle Marco, John McCain, Lindsey Graham, the GOP establishment, the Obama Dimocrat Party, State Department flunkies, the Big Media Party, the Left, Soros, right wing Chamber of Commerce lick-boot “writers” and bloggers, West Coast socialists with big companies, all still fight now President Trump’s “Make America Safe Again” fearlessness.
The joint statement of former presidential candidates John McCain & Lindsey Graham is wrong – they are sadly weak on immigration. The two…
The relaxed reaction among the kind of voters who drove Trump’s historic upset victory – working- and middle-class residents of Midwest and the South – provided a striking contrast to the uproar that has gripped major coastal cities, where thousands of protesters flocked to airports where immigrants had been detained.
In the St. Louis suburb of Manchester, Missouri, 72-year-old Jo Ann Tieken characterized the president as bringing reason into an overheated debate.
“Somebody has to stand up, be the grown up and see what we can do better to check on people coming in,” she said. “I’m all for everybody to stop and take a breath … Just give it a chance.”
Most voters approve of President Trump’s temporary halt to refugees and visitors from several Middle Eastern and African countries until the government can do a better job of keeping out individuals who are terrorist threats.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 57% of Likely U.S. Voters favor a temporary ban on refugees from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen until the federal government approves its ability to screen out potential terrorists form coming here. Thirty-three percent (33%) are opposed, while 10% are undecided.
In short, nothing has changed from the election campaign Donald J. Trump won. President Trump fights to Make America Safe Again, while Trump opponents support an intifida against the West.
Was the immigration executive order botched? Should President Trump have given more notice before he implemented his Make America Safe Again executive order? President Trump declared he will not make the same mistakes boob Obama made of giving advance notice to America’s enemies:
If the ban were announced with a one week notice, the "bad" would rush into our country during that week. A lot of bad "dudes" out there!
President Trump will Make America Safe Again. Chuck Schumer and his intifada against America and the West are political opportunism. Chuck Schumer never wept, there were no tears, as Jews got killed by Muslims. Chuck Schumer never wept at the many countries Jews are banned from visiting. Chuck Schumer did not weep this past week about what happened in Muslim Germany:
German Muslim students protest Holocaust remembrance, attack Israel
The school director said that it was good there was student opposition to the memorial event because it “is the basis of discussion.”
Muslim students of Arab and Turkish origin protested participation in an International Holocaust Remembrance Day event in Germany, while their high school’s administration showed understanding for their criticism of Israel. [snip]
The Holocaust remembrance event was part of a global commemoration in which participants take selfie photographs along with a sign saying “I Remember“ or “We Remember.“ A blackboard at the school was defaced with the sentence: “F*** Israel, free Palestine.” The school was not able to identify the perpetrator. [snip]
Zuroff, who is Wiesenthal’s chief Nazi-hunter, added, “Given that Holocaust consciousness is a central idea of civic identity in the Federal Republic, it is doubly important for families that come from countries with deep antisemitic traditions and no knowledge of the Holocaust and the destruction of European Jewry.”
The Weiterbildungskolleg Emscher-Lippe school, where the protest unfolded, has 500 students, 40% of whom have a migrant background. [snip]
In January, a German court reaffirmed a legal decision from the city of Wuppertal stating the torching of a synagogue by three Muslims was not motivated by antisemitism. The court wrote the men only sought via the arson “to clearly draw attention to the blazing conflict between Israel and Palestinians” during Operation Protective Edge in 2014. The original synagogue in Wuppertal was burned by Germans in 1938.
No tears from Intifada Chuck Schumer who for political profit attacks President Trump. From Hillary Clinton, who was stabbed in the back by 2×4 Chuckie in 2008, there was more stupidity, more support for Israel haters.
I stand with the people gathered across the country tonight defending our values & our Constitution. This is not who we are.
United Arab Emirates (accepted for transit only; not allowed for admission)
In addition, Iran, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen do not allow entry to people with evidence of travel to Israel, or whose passports have either a used or an unused Israeli visa. As a consequence, many countries will allow for a second passport to be issued to citizens wishing to circumvent this restriction.
A President Hillary Clinton would have bowed down to Islam, scarf on head.
Theresa May offered last night to help President Trump to prevent the West from being “eclipsed” by China as she urged him not to shirk his “obligation” to lead the world.
In a speech to a Republican congressional retreat in Philadelphia the prime minister matched parts of Mr Trump’s controversial foreign policy.
She criticised China’s increasingly “assertive” posture, promised to help to curb Iran’s “malign influence” in the Middle East and to do more to defend allies such as Israel in “tough neighbourhoods” while admitting that it was time to engage Russia in the search for peace in Syria.
Women, Gays, Jews, are most threatened by Islam and Muslim terrorists. But no tears from Hillary Clinton or Chuck Schumer for the victims of Islam and terror.
President Trump fights for the values of the West. Before he saves the West, President Trump must first Make America Safe Again. That is what President Trump is busy doing. Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton, and the establishments of the GOP and the Obama Dimocrats do not want to Make America Great Again. President Trump and the American people will defeat them all.
Update II: Crisis! We might have more on this tomorrow. Enough to say right now that we have been waiting for polls from after Saturday’s debate. All the polls before the debate don’t amount to a hill of beans right now.
The question is “did Donald J. Trump blow himself up with his monumental gamble of attacking George W. Bush and the Iraq War in a state where GWB is at 80% popularity and a state which has many veterans?” Post debate polls will give us the clue as to whether Trump’s gamble wins big or loses big. Tighten your girdles, hang on to your hats, clutch your pearls, and pull your hair — the first, after the debate, clue has arrived:
FIRST ON BUZZ: After debate, Trump still tops SC GOP presidential race
Donald Trump still is leading the S.C. Republican presidential race after the weekend’s explosive GOP debate in Greenville.
But the race for second place in Saturday’s primary appears to be narrowing.
Behind Trump, who has 35 percent support in the poll, U.S. Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida and Ted Cruz of Texas are tied for second place — at 18 percent each, according to a Public Policy Polling survey released exclusively Monday to The State.
Crisis and panic in the land of the lost!!! If the GOP establishment, Big Media, and the political establishment in its entirety cannot stop Trump in South Carolina now, then where, when? If Trump can make it there, Trump can make it anywhere… it’s up to you… South Carolina.
It was the St. Valentine’s Eve massacre. Donald Trump machine gunned the stage and audience, and few have noticed all the dead bodies lying around.
Some of Big Media commentary, the wishful thinking but not very bright “analysis” has been that Donald Trump destroyed himself at the debate last night. That’s not what we saw. We have eyes to see, and ears to hear, and we understand strategy and tactics which is why we see all the blood and Trump triumphant. We’ll explain.
What the Hell was Donald Trump up to last night? The clues include Henry Kissinger and Bill Clinton. Can you figure it out with the clues we just gave you?
Here we go: remember when Hillary Clinton accused Donald Trump of being a sexist then Donald Trump went all ape-sh*t against Bill Clinton? Notice how Bill and Hillary have laid off Trump since then? See what Trump did there?
Also, did you notice that Donald Trump went nuclear against Bill Clinton at the very moment that Bill Clinton was to commence his campaign appearances on behalf of Hillary? Donald Trump turned Bill Clinton’s triumphant return to the center stage into a Big Media revisit down sexual history lane.
So, um, Bill Clinton returns to the center stage and Trump preps the battlefield with a bombardment against Bill Clinton under the guise of a “response” to Hillary’s attack. Do you get it now?
Last night, as George W. Bush debuts his return to the center stage to campaign on behalf of Fredo, er Jeb, on Monday, Trump prepped the battlefield with a bombardment. Trump did to George W. Bush’s return when Trump did to Bill Clinton’s return. On Monday, when George W. Bush campaigns for little bro, the nation will revisit the Iraq War. Won’t that be fun?
We here at Big Pink detest George W. Bush. We don’t think much about Daddy Bush either. Barbara Bush is not a favorite here either. In the past few years we’ve felt much kindlier towards George W. and the Bush clan – but only because in comparison to Barack Obama we consider the two Bush presidents to be patriotic, good Americans, even if their policies hurt the United States.
So here we are, like millions of others, thinking much kinder, gentler thoughts towards the Presidents Bush, but that all goes out the window if the discussion is not a Bush v. Obama discussion but rather a “was George W. Bush a good president for this country?” question. No.
We like the Presidents Bush a thousand times more that Obama but that does not mean we can defend the policies as implemented by the Presidents Bush. And yes, we understand that the Bush “surge” in Iraq helped secure the country and that Bush eventually got Iraq under some control and had pretty much stabilized Afghanistan and that Barack Obama is to blame for the carnage there today. All that is true.
But the Iraq War was a monumental mistake because it helped Iran. And Donald Trump gets all that and he shouts it out in front of the Republican establishment as the establishment shouts boos at Trump.
Got that? Now, let’s go to Kissinger, Henry Kissinger. Did you think it was crazy for Bernie Sanders to attack Hillary Clinton on her good relationship with former Secretary of State and National Security Adviser Henry Kissinger at their last debate? It was crazy, but what Sanders was doing was painting Hillary into a “she’s a right wing war-monger” corner and himself as the “Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party” Howard Dean speaking truth to power even thought Bernie is a socialist who has not been a Democrat.
Bernie Sanders would love to re-litigate Hillary Clinton’s entire past and relationships as well as the entire history of American wars and foreign policy. Bernie Sanders at every turn reminds everyone of the Iraq War which he voted against and Hillary voted for an authorization of war.
Bernie Sanders would love to re-litigate the Iraq War to smash Hillary in the same way Barack Obama used Hillary’s vote to attack Hillary in 2008. Donald Trump?
Do you get it yet? Donald Trump wants to re-litigate the Iraq War too at the very moment George W. Bush returns to South Carolina, “Bush country”, to campaign for his hapless, low energy, stiff of a brother.
Trump calls them “boo birds”. Who did the boo birds want to help? The boo birds wanted to help Jeb Bush but the boo birds’ favorite was Marco Rubio. The boo birds want to help Rubio, but did Rubio help himself? No.
Powell’s UN speech, part of the Bush administration’s public case for the U.S. invasion of Iraq, with its unsupported assertions of mobile Iraqi biological-warfare labs and a “sinister nexus” between Iraq and al-Qaeda terrorists, was based on “deeply flawed” evidence, Powell writes.
“So why did no one stand up and speak out during the intense hours we worked on the speech?” Powell writes. “‘Some of these same analysts later wrote books claiming they were shocked that I have relied on such deeply flawed evidence.“
It was lies and delusions. Not Obama style “hate America” lies but the Iraq War hurt America. And lies did sell it:
A former top aide to Colin Powell says his involvement in the former secretary of state’s presentation to the United Nations on Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction was “the lowest point” in his life.
“I wish I had not been involved in it,” says Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, a longtime Powell adviser who served as his chief of staff from 2002 through 2005. “I look back on it, and I still say it was the lowest point in my life.”
Wilkerson is one of several insiders interviewed for the CNN Presents documentary “Dead Wrong — Inside an Intelligence Meltdown.” The program pieced together the events leading up to the mistaken WMD intelligence that was presented to the public. A presidential commission that investigated the pre-war WMD intelligence found much of it to be “dead wrong.”
Powell’s speech, delivered on February 5, 2003, made the case for the war by presenting U.S. intelligence that purported to prove that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. Wilkerson says the information in Powell’s presentation initially came from a document he described as “sort of a Chinese menu” that was provided by the White House. [snip]
In one dramatic accusation in his speech, Powell showed slides alleging that Saddam had bioweapons labs mounted on trucks that would be almost impossible to find.
“In fact, Secretary Powell was not told that one of the sources he was given as a source of this information had indeed been flagged by the Defense Intelligence Agency as a liar, a fabricator,” says David Kay, who served as the CIA’s chief weapons inspector in Iraq after the fall of Saddam. That source, an Iraqi defector who had never been debriefed by the CIA, was known within the intelligence community as “Curveball.”
After searching Iraq for several months across the summer of 2003, Kay began e-mailing Tenet to tell him the WMD evidence was falling apart. At one point, Wilkerson says, Tenet called Powell to tell him the claims about mobile bioweapons labs were apparently not true.
Trump is right. Wanna re-litigate the Iraq War in 2016 Jeb?
As bad as the Iraq War re-litigation is for Jebby. It is Marco Rubio that blew himself up to smithereens.
At the GOP debate Marco Rubio defended George W. Bush with more energy than the brother with low energy, the stiff Jeb. But Marco Rubio’s defense of George W. Bush should have every conservative, every Republican, every smart thinking Democrat, everybody very very worried about Rubio.
Here’s Marco Rubio’s defense of George W. Bush and the World Trade Center attacks as well as on the Iraq War:
Did George W. Bush keep us safe even though as Trump correctly asserts the World Trade Center towers came tumbling down? Fast talking Rubio fast talks through that nonsense but that is not the problem with Rubio’s world view policy. Donald Trump should focus on what Rubio said if the race ever comes down to Trump v. Rubio, as the political establishment desires.
Watch again, catch the problem with what Rubio said:
Marco Rubio takes the reprehensible, anti-conservative, anti-Republican position that the United States should bankrupt itself, send young American women and men into death’s jaws – IN ORDER TO ENFORCE WHAT THE UNITED NATIONS WANTS.
Marco Rubio defends the Iraq War because the U.N. passed resolutions against Iraq. Think about that!
Vote for Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio and vote for perpetual dumb war instead of what is in the national security interest of the United States. Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio want to be George W. Bush III. The boo birds will feather their nests with perpetual dumb war, not necessary and smart wars. Trump is the change candidate the boo birds hate.
Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush blew themselves up last night. Donald J. Trump machine gunned, like Kelly, the entire Republican establishment, the Big Media establishment, the internationalists, the neo-cons, the America as world’s policeman, crackpots, and these loons think it is Trump that is hurt by the truth. Trump told the needed to be told truth.
The truth sets you free. That’s why Trump is free – flying high over the field, like an eagle, feasting on boo birds.
Ian Fleming made a mistake. Hollywood corrected that mistake. Vladimir Putin learned from that mistake.
Ian Fleming was the man that created super-spy James Bond, and/or was the real life James Bond. In his book Goldfinger, Fleming’s plot involved criminal mastermind and gold dealer Auric Goldfinger breaking into and stealing the gold from Fort Knox in the most audacious robbery in world history. It was an impractical idea on the part of Fleming’s Mr. Goldfinger. When Hollywood produced the follow-up to the sensational first James Bond movie Dr. No, Hollywood corrected Fleming’s error.
The movie Goldfinger explains in detail why the theft of all the gold from Fort Knox is not feasible. Then the Hollywood movie dream makers perfected the plot for Fleming and gave Auric Goldfinger a truly genius plan:
Hooray for Hollywood! The producers of Goldfinger realized, and had the James Bond character in the film explain, that the weight of all that gold was near impossible to transport especially in the time it would take for American security forces to make him put it back. The amount and weight of all the gold in Fort Knox would take too long to load into transports and the weight would require a great many transports capable of carrying all that gold. So Hollywood came up with the answer that works.
Auric Goldfinger in the movie owns a lot of gold. Mr. Goldfinger, in a plan only the scam artist accountants in Hollywood could devise, did not need to literally steal all the gold in Fort Knox to make a financial killing. All Auric Goldfinger had to do was put the gold of Fort Knox out of commission.
That was the genius of “Operation Grand Slam” as Goldfinger named his maniacal plan. Goldfinger’s plan was to explode a nuclear device in Fort Know which would render the gold in Fort Knox radioactive. With the gold in Fort Knox made useless the value of Goldfinger’s gold would rise in price exponentially.
Vladimir Putin understands the value of Goldfinger’s “Operation Grand Slam”. That’s what Vladimir Putin is up to with his Corleone family style move into the middle east.
Smart and strong. Vladimir Putin, the Russian leader is so smart and so strong. Even when Putin pulls down his pants and exposes himself many cannot see what he is up to.
Vladimir Putin is implementing “Operation Grand Slam” on a worldwide basis. What many mistake for weakness, what many mistake as a mistake, is Putin as Auric Goldfinger.
What is Putin’s version of “Operation Grand Slam”? Putin will bring down the oil producers in competition with Russia and thereby make Russia master of energy.
Many of our brightest don’t see what Vladimir Putin is up to. They presume that Putin’s move into Syria and the middle east is about making Russia a player in the middle east once again, or about allies or about something or other, other than what it is.
Across the Russian economy, businesses have shelved investment plans, worried that the ruble might extend its decline if oil prices slide further and that geopolitical tensions could bring new economic headwinds.
The prospect of a prolonged slump is a challenge for the Kremlin, which has relied on rising living standards to boost popular support, as well as foreign investors, who have bet billions on Russia as a growth market.
For the moment, the Kremlin has been dialing back the tensions in Ukraine, which could lead to an easing of the sanctions imposed by the U.S. and Europe over the crisis there.
Russian officials say the economy has hit bottom; business executives are unpersuaded. Capital investment declined 6 percent in the first eight months of this year. Many companies have cash – corporate profits are up 38 percent this year, boosted mainly by the drop in the ruble – they just aren’t ready to spend it.
“Businessmen and ordinary people have formed strong negative expectations,” says former Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin, compounding the impact of sanctions and the plunge in oil prices. “That induces capital outflows and leads to greater economic contraction.”
Even if the economy recovers in the next few years, growth will be so slow that Russia’s share of world output will still shrink to the lowest level since the collapse of the Soviet Union, erasing the gains of President Vladimir Putin’s 15-year rule, he says.
Already, budget pressures forced the government to cut or delay parts of the 20-trillion-ruble military modernization that Putin has made a top priority in his drive to rebuild Russia’s global might.
The premise of the bright set is that Putin has taken more than he can chew. The mistaken premise is that Russia is weak and weakening and Putin is only making it worse.
We’ll stipulate that the Russian economy is in the toilet and circling. We’ll agree that Vladimir Putin has done some pretty nervy moves. Putin’s decisive moves into the Middle East are analogous to weak Germany’s move into the Rhineland as the Western powers stood by watching, doing nothing. But all the weakness of the Russian economy is icing on the cake for strong Vladimir Putin’s “Operation Grand Slam.”
Three facts motivate Putin. First, two regions utterly dominate world oil markets. The Middle East and Russia together ship 60 percent of all oil traded (45 and 15 percent, respectively). Meanwhile, American firms are by law prohibited from engaging in this vital global marketplace; more on this shortly.
Second, oil matters. It provides 97 percent of the global fuel needs for all the engines that transport everything on land, sea and air. No viable substitutes exist at any price for liquid hydrocarbons at the scale society needs. And the world will consume more oil, not less, as far into the future as it matters for sensible policymaking.
Finally, price matters. Here the U.S. has upset the apple cart. Entrepreneurs using new technologies have unlocked a shocking increase in oil supply. U.S. shale fields have recorded the fastest increase in oil production in history. As a result, crude prices have collapsed from north of $100 to south of $50 a barrel. The emerging consensus? Cheaper oil is the new normal.
Imagine if that 45 percent of middle eastern oil was somehow destroyed or made unusable. Russia’s 15 percent would rise like Goldfinger’s dream.
Syria? Syria is an oil producer but that’s not the strategic importance for strong and smart Putin. Syria is a transit hub pipeline for European oil and gas markets.
The more obvious Vladimir Putin is, the less weak leaders in the West see what he is up to. It’s not about territory ladies and gentlemen. Vladimir Putin does not rely on any of the nonsense formulas the West’s leaders think Putin needs.
So what exactly is Vladimir Putin up to? Putin has moved into Syria. Putin has sent his best troops into Syria. But those are feints. Those are tactics. Diversionary tactics. The real aim of Putin’s “Operation Grand Slam” is the destruction of oil supplies and for that Vladimir Putin only needs one country and one person.
Vladimir Putin needs Iran and Barack Obama.
Iran is an oil producer. Iran also hates, for religious, political, and financial reasons, the powerhouse oil producer monarchies across the Persian Gulf. There is nothing Iran would like better than to take over or destroy the Gulf state monarchies. Enter Vladimir Putin.
Vladimir Putin is in Syria to block pipelines to Europe that in future might compete with Russian exports to Europe.
Vladimir Putin is in the middle east for the same reason Auric Goldfinger went to Fort Knox.
All Vladimir Putin needs and wants is for middle eastern oil flows to blow up. That’s “Operation Grand Slam” Putin style.
Putin now has a presence in the middle east. Putin also has a partner in the middle east – Iran. There’s just one other tool Putin needs to make “Operation Grand Slam”.
Putin needs Barack Obama. Putin has Barack Obama.
Whether because he is incomparably incompetent or willfully treacherous Barack Obama is Vladimir Putin’s greatest ally. We believe Barack Obama is willfully treacherous because no one can be that stupid and useless.
The more he can entrench himself in the Middle East, the more he can exert control over energy markets. With Iran and Iraq in his sphere he can begin to force Europe to rely on him again for supplies.
Prolonged war in the Middle East would serve Putin’s interests perfectly. The deeper and more widespread the conflict, the more world oil and gas prices are likely to rise, helping him stage an economic recovery at home and render the sanctions useless.
That last excerpt is the best understanding of what Putin is up to. But it still falls short. Putin’s “Operation Grand Slam” is about destroying the competition.
Get rid of the Saudis and the gulf oil states and Auric Goldfinger’s master plan to control gold becomes Vladimir Putin’s brilliant control of black gold.
Last Wednesday Vladimir Putin celebrated his 63rd birthday. No need to get Putin a belated gift.
In 2008 Vladimir Putin got the greatest gift any despot could want: Barack Obama.
What do white evangelicals, Muslims, Mormons, blacks, conservative Republicans, and immigrants from Africa, South America, and Central America all have in common? They’re less likely to support gay marriage than the average Californian. [snip]
The owners of Memories Pizza are, I think, mistaken in what their Christian faith demands of them. And I believe their position on gay marriage to be wrongheaded. But I also believe that the position I’ll gladly serve any gay customers but I feel my faith compels me to refrain from catering a gay wedding is less hateful or intolerant than let’s go burn that family’s business to the ground. [snip]
A relatively big digital mob has been attacking this powerless family in rural Indiana, but I don’t get the sense that its participants have reflected on or even thought of these questions. I don’t think they recognize how ugly, intolerant and extreme their actions appear or the effect they’ll have on Americans beyond the mainstream media, or that their vitriolic shaming these people has ultimately made them into martyrs. I fear that a backlash against their tactics will weaken support for the better angels of the gay rights movement at a time when more progress needs to be made, and that they’re turning traditionalists into a fearful, alienated minority with a posture of defensiveness that closes them off to persuasion.
We detest bully boys and bully boy tactics. It doesn’t matter if the bully boys wear brown shirts or rainbow shirts… blue shirts or red shirts.
We’re disgusted. Not discouraged, not resigned, disgusted.
Why? Sample the news stories of past few days, weeks, months, as they appeared on one day.
On one day this week Vladimir Putin threatened nuclear war over Crimea, Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia. That was not all, “Russia has threatened to use “nuclear force” to defend its annexation of Crimea and warned that the “same conditions” that prompted it to take military action in Ukraine exist in the three Baltic states, all members of Nato.” Anyone think NATO, under current leadership will fulfill it’s treaty obligations to the Baltic States and defend them if strong leader Putin attacks? Anyone think still occupied Crimea will be an issue for the craven West?
On the same day two Muslim women in New York City were arrested because they plotted bomb attacks against the United States. These Muslim women planned attacks in and against a democratic country where women are free in order to defend a religion and political movement that despises women (and gays).
The reaction to the two Muslim potential killers from an American woman senator? Censorship. That disgusting woman senator from California, Dianne Feinstein, thinks that the thing to do is remove the “Anarchist Cookbook”and terrorist publications from the internet. It’s freedom hating censorship in the name of freedom. Think this silly censorship will work? Instead of a call for a vigorous defense of freedom in national policy and destruction of the totalitarian movements which propel the Putins and the Muslim killers, we get a futile call for censorship that at best will not work. We will not defeat this Muslim terror mentality with hashtag Twitter campaigns nor internet activism censorship. Did #BringBackOurGirls bring back those girls?
On the same day as the above events occurred we also saw continued attacks against a pizza store because the owner surmised they would not cater a gay wedding if they were ever asked. What person, gay or straight, would cater their wedding with pizza?
It wasn’t about pizza of course. The pizza shop in Indiana was collateral damage in a bigger fight against anti-gay institutional discrimination and the rights of conscience (which have been a fundamental bulwark in every movement for freedom in this country) guaranteed under the First Amendment.
How foolish was this “fight” on the part of gay activists? The very powerful gay boss of one of the most powerful companies in the world, Apple, denounced Indiana and a new religious rights law and threatened to economically deprive Indiana of Apple dollars. Think about that. The economic powerhouse Apple is led by a gay man who opens Apple stores in the most anti-women and anti-gay Muslim countries yet the target of his gay ire is Indiana because the presumed anti-gay wedding non caterers are Christian.
When will the gay rights movement target Muslim bakeries and ask them to cater gay weddings? When will some proud gay black man walk into a business owned by a member of Chicago’s Nation of Islam and demand his gay wedding be catered by anti-gay anti-Christian anti-woman Louis Farrakhan?
What disgusts us about the gay activist attacks against Christianity is not so much the hypocrisy of the protection of gay killing Muslims and gay killing Muslim countries. What is particularly disgusting is the totalitarian mind control exhibited by the supposed defenders of gay rights. And we issue this warning to our allies that support gay rights: “the whole world is watching”.
“The whole world is watching” is typically used by freedom movements to advance on the moral high ground. But in this case, “the whole world is watching” is more of an ominous threat. In many of the Muslim countries the gay rights movement in the United States is watched with loathing (and yes this is despite the fact that many of the Muslim countries have huge closeted gay populations within them and even some not so closeted (think dancing boys of Afghanistan) gay populations). They’re watching the gay movement in America and see the intolerance of the gay movement here and prepare.
In Russia the anti-gay movement is as intolerant as the gay movement in America is becoming. An Associated Press poll finds that anti-gay bigotry is gaining ground in Russia and new laws against gays are on the rise. The gay movement in America and the West should remain on the high ground of tolerance and freedom not on the mind control totalitarian repression of opposing views. Don’t become what you fought against Gay America.
So, as a pizza shop was under attack for expressing an idea, not doing or not doing anything, but for the expression of a thought, Yemen too was in the news. In Yemen Muslim nuts fight Muslim nuts. In Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Egypt, Yemen, Kenya, throughout the Middle East and every Muslim Country and beyond “the world is on fire”, as Speaker of the House John Boehner said.
What was the Obama response to a world on fire? Gasoline!
The thing that no one, supporter or opponent, can deny about the Iran deal is this: Under the agreed “framework,” after ten or 15 years, Iran will be permitted to develop all the nuclear weapons it wants. This agreement is not, as the White House claimed it would be, a deal to stop Iran’s nuclear weapons program. It is merely a way to manage and delay it. [snip]
The principle is simple. Crazy, violent, apocalyptic, militaristic, expansionist sponsors of terrorism are not to be trusted with the atom bomb.
An Iranian bomb would also mean the end of nonproliferation efforts. [snip]
This deal leaves the entire Iranian nuclear weapons production line in place. Iran will even be permitted to continue spinning thousands of centrifuges and enrich uranium, though not at the level needed for a bomb. Assuming they don’t cheat, which they always have. [snip]
Iran’s decades of illegal work on a nuclear weapon is now officially legitimized.
“I’m a little puzzled by the political agreement,” said Olli Heinonen, a previous inspections chief at the U.N.’s nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency. “You’re going to leave Iran as a threshold state. There isn’t much room to maneuver.”
Iranian Defector: ‘U.S. Negotiating Team Mainly There to Speak on Iran’s Behalf’
An Iranian journalist writing about the nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran has defected. In an interview Amir Hossein Motaghi, has some harsh words for his native Iran. He also has a damning indictment of America’s role in the nuclear negotiations.
“The U.S. negotiating team are mainly there to speak on Iran’s behalf with other members of the 5+1 countries and convince them of a deal,” Motaghi told a TV station after just defecting from the Iranian delegation while abroad for the nuclear talks. The P 5 + 1 is made up of United States, United Kingdom, Russia, China, France, plus Germany.
France felt the Americans were keeping France and the other negotiating partners in the dark about the talks. Rather it being P5+1, it has really been the U.S. only talking to Iran. And the French negotiators complained in private the Americans were trying to “force them to make concessions on issues like the number of centrifuges allowed or sanctions.
The French ambassador to the US tweeted his displeasure at the beginning of March, “We want a deal. They need a deal. The tactics and the result of the negotiation should reflect this asymmetry.”
None of Iran’s nuclear facilities — including the Fordow center buried under a mountain — will be closed. Not one of the country’s 19,000 centrifuges will be dismantled. Tehran’s existing stockpile of enriched uranium will be “reduced” but not necessarily shipped out of the country. In effect, Iran’s nuclear infrastructure will remain intact, though some of it will be mothballed for 10 years. When the accord lapses, the Islamic republic will instantly become a threshold nuclear state.
That’s a long way from the standard set by President Obama in 2012 when he declared that “the deal we’ll accept” with Iran “is that they end their nuclear program” and “abide by the U.N. resolutions that have been in place.” Those resolutions call for Iran to suspend the enrichment of uranium. Instead, under the agreement announced Thursday, enrichment will continue with 5,000 centrifuges for a decade, and all restraints on it will end in 15 years. [snip]
The proposed accord will provide Iran a huge economic boost that will allow it to wage more aggressively the wars it is already fighting or sponsoring across the region. Whether that concession is worthwhile will depend in part on details that have yet to be agreed upon, or at least publicly explained.
To quote Winston Churchill under remarkably similar circumstances after Munich: We have suffered an unmitigated defeat. And just like in 1938, our national leader is painting it as a victory over the warmongers without any recognition that he’s just set loose the real warmongers, and what follows will be disaster and ignominy.
We’re disgusted with good reason(s). Allies we thought better of now act more like the totalitarians they oppose. At every level the West and its ideals of tolerance and freedom are in retreat. A party and party leadership we once respected follow the treacherous leader into managed decline of America and all the dread consequences that will bring about.
But we’re not despondent, dispirited, despairing.
For Christians, Good Friday is not because it is particularly “good”. It’s more “solemn”. On “good” Friday the founder of their religion was crucified. The “lamb of God” on a gibbet much like a butchered Passover lamb is not a pretty sight. But the idea of “good” comes from the sacrifice for humanity and the promise of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday and a latter resurrection for humanity through His sacrifice.
So we’re not despondent, dispirited, or despairing, although we are disgusted. We’ll take the disgust on this Good Friday and hope that things get better soon. It won’t be Sunday. But a better day is sure to come. It can’t get worse.
The news we have for those that believe Hillary’s press conference was a “trainwreck” is “you’ve just been fu*ked and you don’t even know it.”
Why do we say this? Because we have seen it before. Remember Hillary’s billing records? That was the “scandal” that would destroy her. Add your favorite anti-Hillary moment here. Remember Hillary was destroyed never to be seen again in 2008? What happened?
At today’s press conference Hillary fu*ked then disemboweled her inquisitors. Remember all those questions about Hillary’s server being insecure and the pearl clutching over that? Hillary said it was built around hubby Bill’s electronic communications system safeguarded by Secret Service or what4ever. Result: security issue gone. Why was the system set up? “Convenience” she said, and it was permissible from the State Department viewpoint. “Personal emails?” Everyone understands the privacy issue and it resonates more emotionally with the American public than the evidence gathering rationales of investigators than Hillary/Bill detractors understand. Bill and Hillary know how to communicate and where the priority is when making an argument against an attack. [Hint: the political will always trump the legal.]
For every question Hillary had an answer. The search is now on to disprove everything she said. Bill only emailed twice in his life, she really had multiple devices, etc. etc. It won’t matter. The battle is over. At some point Hillary will permit some sort of inspection of the server when no one cares anymore and after her negotiation starting point expressed today of no inspection is long past useful.
Today Hillary anally abused her interrogators. Hillary also reset the landscape and put herself in the role of victim fighting off an irrational clown posse that wants to go through her daughter’s panty drawer and peek into her yoga emails, mother’s funeral emails, little girl’s wedding emails. Strategically, Hillary has them right where she wants them and the funny part is, once again they think they won.
It’s easy for dullards to see Hillary, Bill, and Barack as one corrupt whole. But that is shadowbox analysis and you do not win boxing shadows. For Republicans to win, or Obama opponents to win it is imperative to see beyond the shadows and tackle the shadow making machinery and players.
What do we mean by all this? We mean that most Republicans, conservatives, and otherwise sane Obama opponents assume Hillary Clinton will be the next nominee of the Obama Dimocrat party and that Barack Obama will do everything to get Hillary the nomination because (a) he owes his reelection to Bill Clinton’s oratorical skills and Hillary Clinton’s silence; (b) some sort of deal was worked out with Bill to secure Hillary the nomination and the presidency. This is all wrong.
Barack Obama and his minions will do everything in their power to destroy Hillary Clinton and make sure she does not get the nomination in 2016 let alone the presidency.
There is no way that the crazed Obama left is going to go back to the hated paradigm of clinton-bush-clinton-bush interrupted by Obama for clinton-bush years. The crazed left minions might think they love Hillary Clinton now, but wait until their overlords decide they will oppose Hillary and the minions will fall back into the Hillary hate line.
Ol’ “Serpenthead” Carville has woken up to what we wrote so long ago. Carville now accepts that the Left will attack Hillary and not have her pillows fluffed:
This is very good. Hillary better wake up. Big Media is not about to help Hillary in any way let alone in the overwhelming way Big Media helped Obama – by ignoring scandals and attacking anyone that noted the scandals. The Big Media that never looked for and has forgotten all those missing Obama records is not going to help Hillary.
Anyone remember those Obama legislative records that would speak to Obama’s relationship with Antoin “Tony” Rezko? Did state legislator Obama get calls from freezing tenants trapped in Rezko’s tenements that Obama helped Rezko purchase? We never found out because Big Media ignored the Obama scandals and anyone who raised questions was a “racist”.
We’re all for openness and think present day public officials need to be forced to comply with the law. That applies to Hillary. That applies to Menendez. But the law, openness and forced transparency should apply to all fairly.
The timing of the Menendez charges is also politically suspicious. The Senate Democrat is a leading critic of Mr. Obama’s foreign policy on Russia, Cuba and Iran. Mr. Obama recently accused critics of his Iran diplomacy of bowing to their political donors—that is, to Jewish Americans. According to the New York Times, Mr. Menendez rose at a private meeting of Democratic Senators to tell the President he was personally offended by those remarks. The negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program are coming to a head this month, and it doesn’t hurt the President if a prominent critic is operating under an ethical cloud.
All of which is to say that it’s important to look closely at the evidence and charges in this case and test them before a jury. This Justice Department deserves to be treated with as much doubt as any New Jersey politician.
Is Menendez a crook? As with any politician our immediate response is “Yup! Hang the bastard from the lampposts to teach the whole lot of them that here the people rule and their days of being the ruling class lording it over all of us, exempt to the laws they write for us to obey, apply to them too.” But then we look at the timing of this indictment and we fully understand that Menendez is a crook about to be punished by bigger and more lethal crooks. So we pause. Put down the rope. Wave it at the prosecutors instead.
“This is an Obama scandal,” Levin said of the firestorm over Clinton’s use of a private e-mail. Levin cited former EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson’s use of an email under the the pseudonym “Richard Windsor” and former Deputy EPA Administrator Bob Perciasepe’s use of private email during his time at the EPA, and Justice Department stonewalling of public records requests.
Levin continued, “This is an Obama scandal, Hillary, yes, no question. But it is an Obama administration scandal, it is happening in department after department and agency after agency, and the entire purpose is to prevent us, the American people, from finding out what’s going on in our own government.
Levin’s flashlight is lighting up the wrong dark corners. There is a real email scandal that is being lost to the detriment of the nation.
Several years ago we wrote that it was impossible to deny that, like a thieving clerk whose “mistakes” fall in the same direction – which is to short change customers, Barack Obama always makes decisions that benefit Muslim terrorists over American security and power. Victor Hanson makes the same observation today. For us this is the real email scandal the nation confronts:
How America Was Misled on al Qaeda’s Demise
The White House portrait of a crumbling terror group is contradicted by documents seized in the bin Laden raid.
In the early-morning hours of May 2, 2011, a small team of American military and intelligence professionals landed inside the high white walls of a mysterious compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The team’s mission, code-named Operation Neptune Spear, had two primary objectives: capture or kill Osama bin Laden and gather as much intelligence as possible about the al Qaeda leader and his network. A bullet to bin Laden’s head accomplished the first; the quick work of the Sensitive Site Exploitation team accomplished the second.
It was quite a haul: 10 hard drives, nearly 100 thumb drives and a dozen cellphones. There were DVDs, audio and video tapes, data cards, reams of handwritten materials, newspapers and magazines. At a Pentagon briefing days after the raid, a senior military intelligence official described it as “the single largest collection of senior terrorist materials ever.”
The United States had gotten its hands on al Qaeda’s playbook—its recent history, its current operations, its future plans. An interagency team led by the Central Intelligence Agency got the first look at the cache. They performed a hasty scrub—a “triage”—on a small sliver of the document collection, looking for actionable intelligence. According to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, the team produced more than 400 separate reports based on information in the documents.
But it is what happened next that is truly stunning: nothing. The analysis of the materials—the “document exploitation,” in the parlance of intelligence professionals—came to an abrupt stop. According to five senior U.S. intelligence officials, the documents sat largely untouched for months—perhaps as long as a year.
The White House provided 17 handpicked documents to the Combatting Terror Center at the West Point military academy, where a team of analysts reached the conclusion the Obama administration wanted. Bin Laden, they found, had been isolated and relatively powerless, a sad and lonely man sitting atop a crumbling terror network.
It was 2012. Six months before the election. Treasure trove be damned. Obama withheld valuable national security emails, documents, analysis, in order to be reelected. A Muslim mole agent could not have done more harm to American security than Obama wreaked:
It was a reassuring portrayal. It was also wrong. And those responsible for winning the war—as opposed to an election—couldn’t afford to engage in such dangerous self-delusion.
“The leadership down at Central Command wanted to know what were we learning from these documents,” says Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn, the former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, according to the transcript of an interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier for a coming Fox News Reporting special. “We were still facing a growing al Qaeda threat. And it was not just Pakistan and Afghanistan and Iraq. But we saw it growing in Yemen. We clearly saw it growing still in East Africa.” The threat “wasn’t going away,” he adds, “and we wanted to know: What can we learn from these documents?”
After a pitched bureaucratic battle, a small team of analysts from the Defense Intelligence Agency and Centcom was given time-limited, read-only access to the documents. The DIA team began producing analyses reflecting what they were seeing in the documents.
At precisely the time Mr. Obama was campaigning on the imminent death of al Qaeda, those with access to the bin Laden documents were seeing, in bin Laden’s own words, that the opposite was true. Says Lt. Gen. Flynn: “By that time, they probably had grown by about—I’d say close to doubling by that time. And we knew that.”
This wasn’t what the Obama White House wanted to hear. So the administration cut off DIA access to the documents and instructed DIA officials to stop producing analyses based on them.
Like the Rezko documents, like his entire history, Obama disappeared these national security documents. National security was sacrificed to reelect Obama. The real email scandal:
Even this limited glimpse into the broader set of documents revealed the problems with the administration’s claims about al Qaeda. Bin Laden had clear control of al Qaeda and was intimately involved in day-to-day management. More important, given the dramatic growth of the terror threat in the years since, the documents showed that bin Laden had expansion plans. Lt. Gen. Flynn says bin Laden was giving direction to “members of the wider al Qaeda leadership team, if you will, that went all the way to places like West Africa where we see a problem today with Boko Haram and [al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb], all the way back into the things that were going on in Afghanistan and Pakistan.” Bin Laden advised them on everything from specific operations in Europe to the types of crops his minions should plant in East Africa.
To date, the public has seen only two dozen of the 1.5 million documents captured in Abbottabad. “It’s a thimble-full,” says Derek Harvey, a senior intelligence official who helped lead the DIA analysis of the bin Laden collection.
You want a national security scandal? You want documents? You want to know how to stop this?:
There is a real email scandal. It’s the hidden Osama bin Laden emails. Barack Obama hid and hides bin Laden’s communications and we still have not heard Big Media demand Obama explain why the emails and documents have been hidden.
Bob Menendez, after years of questions, find himself about to be indicted. He spoke out against Iran in the same way Hillary did when she threatened to “obliterate” Iran. Menendez will be lynched, not for his corruptions, but to save Iran. Hillary will be obliterated to save Iran.
In the bin Laden email/documents treasure trove the link between Iran and Al Quaeda and ISIS is exposed. The documents will remain hidden from the American public. Iranian Valerie Jarrett and Barack Obama smile – their email scanal is safe.
We received a good gift just in time for Veterans Day 2014. It came from a shy reader who does not comment but faithfully reads every day. She sent us pictures a family member (David) had sent her.
One picture in particular graced us:
Talking with one of WWII’s first heroes, 99 year old Lt Col Richard Cole, who was Gen James Doolittle’s’ co-pilot on the first B-25 to take off for the raid on Tokyo. Cole is one of only four living Raiders, is still sharp as a tack. He said that he was scared, but that he didn’t want to be recognized for anything other than just doing his job.
Ninety-nine years young and Lieutenant Colonel Richard Cole can still probably get more dates than a Hollywood pinup boy. He’s a veteran that like so many has an amazing story to tell:
On December 7, 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and U.S. commanders wanted to strike back. The way to do it? A secret bombing run over Japan led by airmen like Lt. Col. Richard Cole, reports CBS News correspondent Anna Werner.
He’s 98 years old now, but he still remembers the moment when he joined the mission called the “Doolittle Raid” as a 26-year-old Air Force pilot. A message on a bulletin board was seeking people who wanted to sign up for a dangerous mission.
“There were already other people’s names there, so maybe it was a little bit of inspiration,” Cole said.
CBS News met Cole at the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas, where a permanent exhibit tells the story of the mission.
The pilots’ mission was to hit back by doing what no one had ever done before: take off in their B-25 bombers from the deck of an aircraft carrier in the Pacific then fly 600 miles to the Japanese coast to drop their bombs.
The man who would lead them was Gen. James Doolittle, a master in military aviation.
Cole still remembers what Doolittle said about the mission.
“He said that it was a very dangerous mission. Anybody wanted to back out, they could without any repercussions.”
No one backed out.
On the morning of April 18, 1942, they took off, headed for their key target: Tokyo. Cole and Doolittle led the fleet in their plane.
Congressional Medal of Honor winner Richard Cole and three other of Doolittle’s Raiders did a whole lot for this country. We owe them and all veterans a debt that cannot be repaid.
Lately it seems like we owe them a debt we will not repay.
Recently the Veterans’ Administration scandals insulted the memory of those who gave their lives in service to us all. The insult extends to those veterans still with us and in need of care as well as those who will one day need to be cared for. They did a lot. We are the ones that do little.
President Abraham Lincoln in his second inaugural address set as a point of honor that the nation would “care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan”. We have not fulfilled that debt with the honor and devotion due.
Indeed, recently, insults are freely spat upon those whose deeds provided us with that continued freedom of speech. In a shameless article at the rancid Salon Magazine a snake wrote of our veterans “You don’t protect my freedom: Our childish insistence on calling soldiers heroes deadens real democracy.” We won’t link to that anti-white racist filth although the trash can be read at other sites critical of the insult:
The best way to recognize Veterans Day is to thank a vet. Just walk up to a veteran, shake their hand and thank them for their service.
Let the fools at Salon defend their own freedoms.
The picture of Richard Cole is not the only one we received. Along with the picture of the DidAWholeLot Raider (all the pictures were taken in late October 2014 in New Orleans) we received these fun photos of these pretty planes that helped save the world from tyranny (captions by “David”):
A P-51D getting ready for takeoff:
B-17 taxiing out”:
The world’s only flying SB2-C Helldiver:
Sarah and the Victory Belles who had just performed a tribute to the Andrews Sisters. They were great singers! Brought tears to the eyes of some of the old veterans:
Chelsea’s baby Charlotte is already on the job. The little babe is already hard at work to help her memaw on her mother’s side.
What has the little one done? Well, like a brilliant comic, like a masterful symphonic conductor, it’s all in the timing. Little Charlotte arrived just in time.
Consider, the latest polls that show Obama Dimocrats about to lose badly this November. Consider the latest Barack Obama “blame the staff” performance against the nation’s intelligence services. Consider the beheadings in the middle east and the beheading in Oklahoma which are all the product of brazen terrorists. Consider the dried rose that is the “War on Women” tactic and the rise of the “security moms”. Consider too all the worldwide Hell breaking loose, which now includes Hong Kong. Consider all that and the consequences for the November 2014 elections which are now a teensy-weensy bit more than a month away (even as early voting in Iowa has started and early voting starts in some other states this very week). Would you want to be tied to this mess?
That, in short, has been the predicament Hillary Clinton has found herself in. A lot of kooks on the left have been on full whine lately that Hillary is not doing much to help Obama Dimocrats this election cycle. And for once the Kooks are correct.
Aside from some measured assistance to those that supported Hillary in 2008 Bill and Hillary have not exactly been tearing up the runways for this November’s elections. Bill and Hillary, Hillary and Bill, are paying political debts and doing some pro forma events. But they are certainly not engaged in a whirlwind tour for Dims in which they would only twist themselves into a loser narrative.
That was the dream. The dream of those that stabbed Hillary in the back and called Bill Clinton a “racist” in 2008 was that popular Bill and popular Hill would carry their water up the hill in state after state in a series of ceaseless campaign events. After that the same vipers would not care if Hill and Bill rolled down the hill soaked from the pail of water they carried.
That is what Hillary and Bill were supposed to do. Hillary and Bill were supposed to stop the disaster by covering for Barack H. Obama. But Hillary and Bill must not take the blame from the coming disaster authored and starring Barack H. Obama. Why should they?
Now the leftist kooks are all atwitter and noisy and angry that Bill and Hill and Hill and Bill find themselves otherwise occupied. Barack Obama is as welcome in many states as Ebola at a sauna. Bill and Hill are popular but where are they?
Now, little Charlotte has come along and Hillary and Bill have a perfect excuse to do as little as possible this October as early voting hits full stride across the nation. It’s not like Hillary is about to freeze-frame herself as Whistler’s Mother. Both Bill and Hill will do some events to keep the yapping dogs at bay but mostly they now can say “the baby”. Ah, “the baby”. “Sorry, we’re busy, you see…uh… the baby….”
The discussion of the crazy peoples view featured comrades fresh from the climate change march in New York and assorted OFA kooks. These kooks indulged themselves with attacks against Hillary Clinton and in praise of Elizabeth Warren.
There was one person, who appropriately self-identifies as “Insipid”, who began by attacking good ol’ Big Pink. Yup, our cute pink website. Well, this Insipid person claimed to have been an Hillary Clinton supporter in 2008. “Insipid” knowing the full facts about Baracko back in 2008 immediately ignored the facts about Barack H. Obama and his race-baiting misogynistic campaign and “HAPPILY” went whole hog for bam-bam.
After a bit of Hillary bashing from the supposed supporter and then claims that there are no differences between Hillary and Baracko “Insipid” got testy with the other kooks. It then got ugly. You will have to read the full exchange for the full laughs and to observe what happens when even the slightest kind words amidst a lot of bashing of Hillary will elicit from the Barack Obama crowd. Oh, and don’t miss the back and forth about Hillary not doing much during this 2014 election. “Insipid” argues Hillary is all out for Dims but the truth is Hillary is mostly all out of this election cycle. Smart lady.
The insipid and the clueless cult of Barack Obama witnessed at that comedy site are not alone. Those brainiacs are not even the most dangerous. Consider the Rosemary’s Babies a.k.a. Occupy Wall Street. Remember them?
Occupy Wall Street posed as an egalitarian group of pure democracy advocates who made decisions from the ground up, direct democracy. Remember how they used to say they had no leaders? Ha! We mocked them repeatedly at the time. Occupy Wall Street was a phony Obama re-election operation disguised as a populist movement. Once the election was over and the attacks on Wall Street Mitt Romney no longer needed Occupy Wall Street descended into an even bigger joke.
The People Who Organized Occupy Wall Street Are Now Suing Each Other
The movement descends into litigation. “We can either go and beat him up or we can go to court.” [snip]
WASHINGTON — Activists who organized the dormant Occupy Wall Street movement are suing another activist for control of the main Twitter account, and one of the plaintiffs says there was no other option but to turn to litigation to solve the dispute.
The conflict centers around @OccupyWallStNYC, one of the main Twitter feeds that distributed information during the movement’s heyday in 2011. The OWS Media Group filed a lawsuit against organizer Justin Wedes on Wednesday, which is also the third anniversary of the beginning of Occupy Wall Street. The group, led by activist Marisa Holmes, is seeking control of the Twitter account as well as $500,000 in damages.
The Twitter account, which used to be shared among several activists, is now under the control of Wedes, who explained his decision to take over the Twitter feed in a blog post in August:
In the kingdom of the blind kooks the one-eyed kook is king. So much for “no leaders”.
The kook kingdom is now underground and in full JournoList mode. You do remember JournoList right? It was the listserv of “impartial” journalists that protected Barack Obama in 2008 and attacked Hillary Clinton and John McCain and especially Sarah Palin.
Emails sent by liberal activists and obtained by The Hill reveal significant dissatisfaction with Hillary Clinton, the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016.
The critical messages about the former first lady show that she has a long way to go to assuage skepticism from influential voices on the left.
The Hill reviewed hundreds of emails from a progressive members only Google group called the “Gamechanger Salon,” a forum where nearly 1,500 activists, strategists and journalists debate issues and craft messaging campaigns.
The group includes prominent Democrats, Sierra Club officials, journalists who work for The Huffington Post and The Nation magazine, senior union representatives, leaders at the Progressive Change Campaign Committee and the president of NARAL.
Over a thousand kooks all out to protect Barack Obama and attack anyone who mocks the ONE. It’s 2008 all over again.
The crazed Obama left is not going to have Hillary Clinton, THE CLINTONS, be the culmination of their revolution by having Hillary inherit the mantle of Obama. The left might be crazed but it is not stupid and the leadership of the totalitarian Obama left is not about to surrender its power to Hillary and Bill and Terry and the hated DLC.
The President of NARAL is part of this secret smear campaign. In 2008 NARAL endorsed John Edwards for president in 2008. NARAL endorsed Barack Obama once Edwards was out. NARAL endorse a pro-choice woman for president? NEVER. Now NARAL, often helped by Hillary Clinton, is part of a secret group to smear Hillary. You better watch your back and learn Hillary.
Clinton’s too much of a hawk, too cozy with Wall Street, hasn’t spoken out enough on climate change, and will be subject to personal questions and criticisms, members of the group stated in the emails.
The existence of the group was reported earlier this year by the conservative outlet MediaTrackers.org, but this is the first time the emails have become public.
“[A] Clinton presidency undos [sic] all our progress and returns the financial interests to even more prominence than they currently have,” Melissa Byrne, an activist with the Occupy Wall Street movement, said in a November 2013 email.
Melissa knows when she is about to be made more extinct that she already is. All her comrades will occupy the same tombs. The Kooks know we are right and they are slated for a beheading, ISIS/Oklahoma style:
The progressives expressed an appetite for an alternative to Clinton to teach her — and those from the centrist wing of the party — a lesson.
Liberal Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has repeatedly said she won’t run for president, but some on the left aren’t convinced.
“The establishment Dems need to be punished, and the best way for that to happen is for Warren to beat Hillary in the primary on a populist message,” Carl Gibson, a progressive activist and writer for Occupy.com, wrote in one email.
Even though months have passed since the emails were sent, the sentiment remains.
It’s almost like a 2008 reunion. Anyone remember Mike Lux? He’s the kook that started OpenLeft because other anti-Hillary sites were too tame. We used to mock OpenLeft as NothingLeft and now the nothing left is back:
Mike Lux, a prominent strategist and an active member of the group, told The Hill that the concerns haven’t changed and operatives “are probably more worried at this point rather than less.”
The hate is strong in this troll.
As MediaTrackers.org has written it is not just Occupy Wall Street totalitarians on Gamechanger Salon. CNN, Reuters and other Big Media contributors participate in these secret cabals of corrupt commentators who wish to usurp the people’s political process with their schemes and smears.
Conversations with a half-dozen of the members of Gamechanger Salon this week confirm that the angst within parts of the progressive movement has only grown.
“There’s good reason to believe the discontent remains the same,” Neil Sroka, spokesman for Democracy for America and another group member, told The Hill.
Much of the exasperation with Clinton hinged on the former New York senator’s vote for the Iraq War, which is still toxic for many progressives. Clinton has since said her vote was a mistake.
Charles Lenchner, a progressive operative and executive director of Organizing 2.0, said Clinton — and anyone else who voted for the Iraq War — is “tainted.”
“And personally, I would like to see a Democratic Party where folks who enabled George Bush to drag the country into a permanent war are punished at the ballot box,” he said in an interview.
Ryan Clayton, a left-leaning commentator and strategist, wrote in a July 2013 email, “The more Progressives I talk to, the more people tell me that they’ll never forgive her for voting for the Iraq War… and won’t even vote for her in the general.”
Another area of irritation is the economic policies instituted by her husband, former President Clinton, that some progressives say contributed to the financial collapse. Lux, a former Clinton administration aide, wrote in an email that while he didn’t think she was involved in crafting economic policy as first lady, he’s concerned about her relationship with Wall Street.
“I also came to know how close she was to the pro-Wall Street forces inside the administration and out, and the downsides on foreign policy are all very real. So I will hesitate for a long time before jumping into her campaign,” Lux wrote in a group email.
Byrne, the Occupy activist, later declared in an email this year: “I have little respect for decisions Sec. Clinton has made in her career and I have a different value set from her.”
One of Clinton’s biggest critics among the group is Guy Saperstein, a major Democratic donor and part owner of the Oakland Athletics baseball team.
In emails, Saperstein called a report out in December of last year that Clinton offered a “reassuring” message to Goldman Sachs executives “horrific,” and slammed her for “ducking a lot of issues, like the Keystone pipeline.”
He also raised questions about her leadership at the State Department and referenced “the type of intimidation the Clintons want to quietly promote [in the velvet glove, of course].”
Saperstein expressed concerns that voters would begin to speculate over her personal life and relationship with her husband.
“None of that would be helpful to her candidacy,” he wrote.
It’s all there. The Hillary-Dillery-Dyke innuendo from Saperstein. The economic “values” arguments from Occupy Wall Street types who are busy fighting for dollars in the courts near Wall Street. And then there is the foolishness about the Iraq vote we answered years ago. And why voting against the AUMF would have been foolish we have also discussed back in 2007.
What is most comic about the Iraq vote and the left is the amnesia about others (Botox John Kerry for instance) who voted for the AUMF and those who supported a “yes” vote (um, Al Gore a favorite of the nothingleft).
What do these kooks really want? They want Hillary to bow down to them in the same way Barack Obama bows down to foreign despots.
In interviews and emails, members of the group expressed a near-universal concern — that still prevails — that if Clinton doesn’t take steps to appease the progressive wing of the party, it could be damaging to her chances in 2016.
Gibson wrote in an email, “another establishment pick from a political dynasty family will drive folks to the green party.”
Clayton suggested in an email from January of this year that without a more liberal alternative to Clinton, the party would splinter: “if we have no Progressive candidate with legitimate street cred about taking effective bold action to face the vital issues we’re confronting as a country today (which is pretty much Warren and … cricket, cricket…) in the race for Presidency, that means the abandonment of the Democratic Party by the reemerging and resurgent Left in America.” [snip]
“They’ll either vote for the Green Party of just sit out. That’s a really big aspect of progressive voters’ strategy” to have their voices heard, he said.
Ha! They’re threatening to go PUMA! News to the crackpot left: your species of PUMA has long been extinct. They died off with Ralph Nader in 2000.
What the crackpot nothingleft will not accept is that it is over for them. Their golden calf, Barack Obama is nothing but political Ebola. Even the Republicans realize it.
Throughout the party’s infrastructure, Republicans say that linking Clinton with Obama, especially labeling her possible 2016 campaign as “Obama’s Third Term,” is the most potent attack. [snip]
“Hillary Clinton has a Barack Obama problem,” reads a lengthy research document that will go out to GOP pundits, strategists, conservative organizations and media members Tuesday. “No matter how many of her advisors whisper to reporters that she’s different from Barack Obama, Americans still know who she is: Barack Obama Part Deux.”
The document lists “10 Reasons Why Clinton 2016 = Obama’s Third Term,” including her praise for Obama as she left the State Department in 2013, her role in his first four years of foreign policy and Clinton’s support of Obamacare.
“Looking ahead to 2016, it’s critical that Obama’s 3rd Term is an element of the broader narrative defining Sec. Clinton, especially since she still has a higher approval than he does,” Tim Miller, the group’s director, said in a statement to CNN. [snip]
Therefore, it is something they plan to continue in the coming months and possibly years.
Democrats, too, are concerned about the attack line. In August, some close to Clinton told CNN that labeling the former secretary of state as the successor to Obama’s legacy was a possible problem.
Obama is political Ebola. Hillary should do as we suggested with even more force and vigor. That’s the way to win.
Update:Scott Brown gets it – “You know, I thought a lot about this and I do support arming them. But I’m frustrated with the incoherent policy that led us to this point.”
That one ad is an attack on Obama’s illegal immigration amnesty plans combined with an attack on Obama’s weakness against terrorism along with a visual reminder about Brown’s military background designed to appeal to “security moms.” The tough and truthful ad ties Ebola Obama to Senator Shaheen.
Not tough? Barack Obama brought his brand of sleeping pills to the United Nations today. “Incoherent” and “weak” are insufficient to describe the bumbling drone. The president seems to be thinking that he’s playing a game of “Risk” with his high school friends in Hawaii.
Today’s UN soporific is proof that Obama is unhinged from reality. Obama demands that the world see things his way and if not… well… there will be another speech. And if bombs have to be dropped because of “security mom” votes needed to win in this November’s elections, so be it… but don’t worry ’cause Obama isn’t serious about force. Yeah, Obama rebukes Russia, demands action against ISIS, invokes Ferguson in UN speech but no world leader believes Obama or thinks Obama is relevant or trustworthy.
Wanna know who understands force? The guys that chop off heads understand force and fear. They laugh at Barack Obama.
Hillary Clinton should have resigned. Leon Panetta should have resigned. The Joint chiefs should have resigned. Obama’s War should finally end the notion that any of the above should have resigned in protest or for whatever noble or principled reason.
Hillary, Panetta, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in normal times with a normal American president should have resigned in protest over the bumbling, stumbling, the lies, the boobery, the treacheries. But imagine if any of these had resigned in protest. What sycophant, what loon, what contrary-to-American-interests Samantha Power/Susan Rice types would Barack Obama have appointed in their stead? Picture a Ralph Nader in uniform promoted to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for some idea of that alternate future scenario.
Hillary and Bill Clinton, Leon Panetta, Bob Gates, the American military top brass all advised Barack Obama to arm the Syrian rebels at a time that Barack Obama made tough threats about “red lines”. Ted Cruz, with good reason, worried that Obama’s “red lines” would turn the United States air force into an pro-Al Qaeda air force.
The problem was that once Barack Obama made the “red line” threat he had to put up or shut up. Syria stepped over the “red lines” that led to an Obama display of his yellow streak and Obama blamed the world for his own empty words. The advice to arm Syrian “rebels” was a way to keep a threat, wise or unwise, by an American president credible. “Speak softly but carry a big stick” was perverted by Obama into “boast loudly and stroke a small flaccid dick”. The advice to arm Syrian “rebels” was a stinky fragrance out of a sewer of bad smells.
In a sense this advice was a variation of the smart Ronald Reagan strategy during the Iran/Iraq War of “arm the loser”. It is a strategy of “let them kill each other” and if anything good comes of this then good for us and let’s keep it going. Instead we are now involved in yet another exercise of nation-building. That is exactly what the left lionized Barack Obama would not do. Instead we have what David Gergen has called another version of the ObamaCare rollout.
At the time the allegedly “moderate” Syrian rebels could have been supplied with arms. Then it was a matter of what these alleged “moderates” did with those arms and a determination of who the “moderate” rebels were. By “moderates” the distinction is comparable to the East Coast versus West Coast fights of American rappers. Think “Bloods” versus “Crips”.
If the “moderates” turned out to be “moderates” in any sense then the arms could continue to flow. If supply of weapons to these “moderates” turned out to be a mistake then the supply of weapons could have been turned off quickly. That was the advice from Hillary, Panetta, Gates, and the Joint Chiefs.
Obama called that advice a “fantasy” and later “horsesh*t”. It was the kettle calling the pot black. Now Obama is become what Obama mocked. Obama policy is become what Obama derided.
Now we have the worst of all scenarios. Obama’s “fantasy” has become Obama’s War.
The first American president under the Constitution, George Washington, warned in his farewell address against foreign entanglements such as we face now in the Middle East. Any claim to clarity of purpose in Obama’s War is shattered by the intricate analyses of Shiites and Sunnis and factions within factions of terrorist groups and tribes and Imams and customs and sorts of lunacies we should not have anything to do with.
George W. Bush led the country into an unwise war in Iraq. The beneficiary of that war was Iran. The main beneficiary of Obama’s War is Assad of Syria as well as Putin of Russia. Iran is also smiling. There are plenty of oil despots also happy. America used to have client states in the Middle East to project our power and interests. Now, because of Barack Obama the United States is now the client state to despots and tyrants.
It was Obama’s yellow streak of cowardice that led to Obama’s War in Syria. This cannot be blamed on George W. Bush.
Because of Barack Obama’s appeasements, obeisance to Muslim despots, and sweet words to the “Muslim world” the darkest of dark forces have been let loose. ISIS is a genuine threat to the United States. ISIS is enabled by Barack Obama. No bomb drops will change the fact that ISIS was birthed and teated by Barack Obama who thought of them as junior varsity collegians he could entreat like a lonely faculty member in the Harvard cafeteria.
In 2008 Hillary Clinton and those of us who questioned Barack Obama’s lack of, or warped “naive” world view were attacked as racists. Now Politico goes full racist:
President Barack Obama is back at the United Nations this week, but the more peaceful world he saw emerging just a year ago is looking like a distant, even naive, dream.
“We’ve also worked to end a decade of war … shifting away from a perpetual war footing,” Obama told the U.N. delegates and fellow heads of state last September. “The world is more stable than it was five years ago.”
Just in the past few months, the rise of the brutal Islamic State terrorist group has lured the U.S. back into military action in the Mideast, Russia has annexed part of Ukraine and a deadly virus has rampaged across Africa, killing thousands and threatening to bring down governments there.
In each crisis, Obama has been faulted for dithering while the situation grew worse and turning aside opportunities to act in the hope of assembling an international response that has so far proved inadequate.
“He’s in a much worse position, without a doubt, than a year ago. … You’ve got a world on fire,” said former Mideast peace negotiator Aaron David Miller. “The presidency is all about managing disorder and unruliness and managing perceptions so that the world’s not seen as being in chaos. He’s not been able to convey a strategy for dealing for all this, so I think it’s much grimmer for him a year later.”
The left propped the bag of feces called Barack Obama as if it was a golden calf. Now the chickens have come home to roost:
Indeed, much of the past week was a reminder of foreign policy failures.
Last year, Obama pushed U.S. efforts to solve the Arab-Israeli conflict only to see peace talks fall apart and relations escalate into full-scale war as Israel responded to rocket attacks from Gaza with incursions by Israeli ground forces and artillery shelling.
Talks with Iran over its nuclear program are continuing in New York this week, but they may be headed for a kind of stalemate. The Obama administration is reportedly exploring stopgap measures that might satisfy it but seem unlikely to be palatable to Israel or its supporters on Capitol Hill.
And Tuesday, Obama is scheduled to speak at a U.N. session on climate change, an area in which his administration stumbled diplomatically early in his presidency and has since struggled to craft meaningful policies that can pass muster with Congress.
On Wednesday, the president delivers his main speech to the General Assembly before leading the Security Council meeting on the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. He’ll also host an event on open government before he wraps up his visit on Thursday with a high-level meeting on the Ebola epidemic.
This will be the second time Barack Obama assumes the role of king of the Security Council. No other American president has done this. Its as if Barack Obama does not want to be the American president anymore and has moved on to run the United Nations world. Obama should resign and move on to his new job at the East River.
With his new offensive against Islamic State terrorists in Syria, Barack Obama has a chance to revive his presidency, but the only way he can do that is to become a brand-new president, one who will be almost unrecognizable to his supporters. Obama must go from being the president who was elected to end wars—his most treasured self-image—to the president who finally leads one effectively. [snip]
For Barack Obama, what is happening now no longer falls into the category of cleaning up old wars. This is no longer the war of the Afghan “surge,” which was mainly intended to end a war that was already underway. Or Obama’s aggressive policy of launching covert drone strikes and special operations missions against al Qaeda and its affiliates. This is a wholly new war, Obama’s very own, and it is out in the open.
Even if the skeptics are right and the airstrikes prove insufficient to diminish the threat from ISIS the subsequent dispatch of American forces to do a time-limited job of clearing out the bad guys is likely to stir even more patriotic fervor.
The president’s leadership role during this fight has the potential to pump up his public approval and that will benefit several Democrats locked in close senate races. [snip]
An upswing in the president’s approval rating as the nation gets in line behind the commander-in-chief could tip the outcome of a political fight now based on voter turnout and last minute advertising.
The left on Obama’s War is the neo-cons they deplored when it was “Bush’s War”
Next up? Boots. More lies and broken promises by Barack Obama are next. Boots. Boots on the ground. Production for use. Boots.
