Update II: President Trump at the American Legion convention:
Update: President Trump in Arizona! The medium is the message:
The medium is the message. Monday night President Donald J. Trump in a nationally televised speech in front of American troops and top government officials announced his strategy to kill terrorists in Afghanistan. Tuesday night in Arizona President Donald J. Trump will visit with American troops in Arizona then go to a big rally with Vice President Mike Pence alongside him in Arizona.
The medium is the message. President Trump in Arizona is sending a very big message because he is in Arizona. The targets of President Donald J. Trump are Arizona Governor Ducey, Senator John McCain, and Senator Jeff Flake.
Gov. Doug Ducey will greet President Donald Trump on the tarmac after Air Force One touches down Tuesday afternoon for his first presidential visit to the Grand Canyon state.
But the Republican governor, who like many in the GOP has diplomatically sidestepped Trump and his more divisive rhetoric, will not attend Trump’s campaign-style rally at the Phoenix Convention Center. [snip]
Richard Herrera, an Arizona State University associate professor of political science, said Ducey’s decision illustrates the Trump tightrope he walks as the governor prepares a 2018 reelection bid.
Herrera said the governor is trying to strike a balance between Republican voters who ardently support Trump, and those who vehemently oppose him.
If Ducey avoided Trump altogether, he could alienate voters he will need next year. And if he joined the president at the rally, Herrera said, he could leave some voters with the impression he supports all of the president’s views. [snip]
“The upside is that for supporters of Trump, he makes a gesture of being close to the president,” Herrera said. “The upside is that he doesn’t have to be in full public view at the rally.
“The negative side is it may not be enough for either group,” he added.
Just by being in Arizona, President Donald J. Trump puts Governor Pucey Ducey on notice that Trump supporters will not vote for this wucey. This Ducey character encouraged Senator McCain to preserve ObamaCare with his vote against ObamaCare repeal in the Senate. Ducey better get a ticket on the TrumpTrain or he will find himself on the tracks with the mighty Trump engine over him.
Arizona Governor Ducey should look at the latest polls from Kentucky for a clue to his reelection bid.
Media Research Center President Brent Bozell on Tuesday unloaded on Arizona GOP Sen. Jeff Flake, mocking him in a Twitter post as an “imposter” posing as a conservative.
“Jeff Flake is not a conservative, nor does he have a conscience,” Bozell said, slamming Flake by using the title of his new book “Conscience of a Conservative” — a nod to Barry Goldwater’s 1960 work that was ghost-written by Bozell’s late father.
“On behalf of my late father and my family, I am denouncing Senator Jeff Flake and his new book, dishonestly titled, ‘Conscience of a Conservative,'” Bozell wrote in a posted statement. [snip]
“The media need to know, when reporting on Senator Flake and his ‘book,’ that the author is a deceiver out for personal and financial gain. I also call on my conservative brethren to denounce this imposter, who dishonorably claims to speak for conservatism, in the strongest possible terms,” the Twitter post maintained.
While promoting his news book, Flake told CBS News’ “Face The Nation” the GOP had “lost its way” and given in to “nativism and protectionism.”
He also slammed the party in a commentary for Politico Magazine last month, criticizing the GOP for “creating” and “rationalizing” President Donald Trump.
Jeff Flake has repeatedly attacked President Trump. Jeff Flake believed that along with Senator McCain and Governor Ducey he could attack President Trump and still be reelected. As if!
John McCain is popular with Obama Dimocrats but not Republicans. John McCain will not help Flake in the Republican primary. Governor Ducey will be too busy in a fight for his own survival so he won’t be much help to Flake either. Governor Ducey and Senator Flake need President Trump, not John McCain.
Just by being in Arizona, President Donald J. Trump slaps Jeff Flake in the face. Jeff Flake needs President Trump but President Trump does not need Jeff Flake. There is another. Her name is Kelli Ward:
Top Trump donor ponies up to take out Flake
Robert Mercer is donating $300,000 to a super PAC backing Kelli Ward, who is running against the GOP senator in a primary next year.
One of Donald Trump’s most generous political benefactors is providing a six-figure donation to a super PAC devoted to unseating Sen. Jeff Flake, an Arizona Republican who has been fiercely critical of the president.
Robert Mercer, a reclusive hedge fund billionaire who was intimately involved in Trump’s rise and helped to bankroll his 2016 campaign, is contributing $300,000 to a super PAC supporting former state Sen. Kelli Ward, who is challenging Flake in a Republican primary next year.
It’s the latest sign that Trump’s political machine is preparing to take on Flake, whose persistent attacks have angered the president. The White House has met with Ward and two other Republicans who are mulling primary challenges to the Arizona senator, state Treasurer Jeff DeWit and former state GOP Chairman Robert Graham.
A longtime Trump critic, Flake has made waves with the release of his new book, “Conscience of a Conservative.” He argues that his party is in denial about the Trump presidency and blames the GOP for his rise. Over the past week, Flake has launched a national TV tour in which he’s made the case that his party has taken the wrong course.
During the 2016 campaign, Flake refused to endorse Trump and called on him to withdraw after the release of the “Access Hollywood” tape, in which Trump was heard boasting about groping women. The senator refused to attend the GOP convention, saying that he had to stay home to mow his lawn.
His jabs rankled candidate Trump, who at one point said that he would be willing to spend $10 million of his own money to defeat Flake in a 2018 primary.
And during a press briefing last week, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders declined to rule out the possibility that the president would help finance an anti-Flake primary effort.
If we were suspicious types we would think that the Steve Bannon resignation and that five hour meeting with Robert Mercer as Bannon prepared to leave the White House job after his August 7 resignation had something to do with all this. We expect Trump supporters, Steve Bannon, Robert Mercer, are all united in taking down politically, the flakeity flake Jeff Flake.
They were Marines. Musical Marines. They’re gone now, but we remember, this Memorial Day 2017.
The only group composed entirely of active duty service members to hit #1 on the music charts. Easier said than done, to hit #1 on the music charts, but they were Marines. Named after an aircraft carrier:
Founding members Walter Vickers (guitar) and Rodney Taylor (drums) were members of the United States Marine Corps stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After being transferred to Camp LeJeune in North Carolina, they enlisted fellow Marines Billy Hill (aka Billy Proctor) and Rudolph Johnson as group members. Next they added a female lead singer, Anita Humes, another Marine.
The band was signed to a recording contract in 1963 after submitting a demo to Roulette Records. “Easier Said Than Done” was written by Larry Huff and William Linton. Released as the B side of their first single, the song reached the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. The track sold over one million records and received a gold disc award from the R.I.A.A. “Easier Said Than Done” charted at #41 in the UK Singles Chart in August 1963.
Anita Humes was the last survivor of the group named after the light strike carrier Essex. Humes died in 2010.
We can’t think of any current popular musical group with a record contract composed of active duty personnel.
There have been musical stars that served in the armed forces of the United States – but none that achieved fame as a group while in service. The Everly Brothers, hit the top of the music charts before active duty service. They were Marines.
Elvis. Joined the United States Army in a state of fame.
Guitar legend Jimi Hendrix was in the Army.
Hendrix was not a bright light in the service. But once out of service, as a musical star, he served along the watchtower:
Staff Sgt. Barry Sadler (November 1, 1940 – November 5, 1989) was a Green Beret. For five weeks starting on March 2, 1966, his song was #1 on the music charts:
“The Ballad of the Green Berets” was released by RCA Victor Records became a fast-selling single, holding No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for five consecutive weeks from March 5 to April 2, 1966. The record sold more than a million copies. The song was a great success in many U.S. cities; it scored five weeks at No. 1 on the weekly Good Guys music survey at WMCA, the top popular music radio station in New York during 1966. He sang it for his television début on January 30 on The Ed Sullivan Show. Sadler recorded an album of similarly themed songs which he titled Ballads of the Green Berets. It sold a million copies during the first five weeks of its release. Sadler had another minor success, the similarly patriotic-themed “The ‘A’ Team”, later the same year when that single scored #28.
According to the ribbons and badges worn by Sadler in a televised performance of “The Ballad of the Green Berets,” he received the following awards for his military service: Purple Heart Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the South Vietnamese Parachutist Badge.
The ribbons shown in Sadler’s television performance mentioned above did not represent all of Sadler’s awards. Sadler was also entitled to the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He had the option of replacing the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with the Vietnam Service Medal.
We’ve written of Memorial Day and its origins in earlier years. It’s a day to remember the fallen in service to the nation.
America owes an unpayable debt to our fallen heroes & their families.
During the Battle of Guadalcanal, Private Ahrens was mortally wounded while single-handedly fighting back a group of Japanese soldiers attempting to infiltrate Allied lines. After his superior officer discovered Ahrens the next morning surrounded by dead Japanese troops, he whispered these words and died.
Will he come around and accept the policy of wars without victories? Speaking to a number of governors in February, Donald Trump unburdened himself, “We have to win. We have to start winning wars again. . . . We never win and we don’t fight to win. We’ve either got to win or don’t fight it at all.” [snip]
After World War II and the Korean War, the United States maintained a large presence of troops in Germany and East Asia in order to keep the peace and deter potential enemies. But this is something different. Now we are maintaining troops in order to make sure the enemy is fighting us over there, so that every spring and summer see another round of skirmishes. Afghanistan is now a strange test for the United States: How long can a democratic people support a limited war that everyone acknowledges will not end in victory?
All the Big Media attacks against President Trump from the past 48 hours come from insider leaks. The political establishment intends to bring down President Trump because he is an outsider. Only an outsider wants victory not endless war. The political establishment is in for a fight because President Trump does not surrender.
Real wars, like a good thunderstorm, clear the air. We need a real war. We need several real wars. Let’s go to war.
War, has a publicity problem. Peace, has an excellent tribe of scribes working overtime to hype its value. It’s not just scribes. Musicians too extol “peace” over war. Herewith a few examples of recent musical pro-peace at any costs propaganda:
That’s great music. We love it. The rhythm chants of messianic Lennon “give peace a chance”, the heartbreak pathos of cyclical missing flowers/children/sons/daughters, the bold assertion of the waste and undesirability of war make the spirit soar. But what is war really good for?
Real war, real honest to goodness, destructive, killing, maiming, blast-furnace, horror dogs of war, WAR – is something many of us have never experienced. The composers and performers of the above songs protested the type of “war” most of us understand.
How is it possible that we beat Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan in less time than it’s taking us to figure out that we can’t even trust the clods of dirt in Afghanistan? Let alone reach a peace deal with them.
But WW2 was a war. It may have been the last war in which we leveraged all the firepower at our disposal to smash an enemy. We don’t fight wars anymore. Instead we’re the world’s policeman. [snip]
The vocabulary is a dead giveaway. When we call a country a “rogue state” instead of an “enemy”, we’re not saying that it’s a deadly threat to us, but that it’s not behaving the way a member of the global community should. But being a “rogue state” is only a crime to globalists. Our problem isn’t that North Korea is failing to abide by the United Nations Convention on the Treatment of Radishes. It’s the nukes.
To solve a problem, you have to clearly define it because your solution will follow your formulation.
To globalists, the problem is an anti-social withdrawal from the global community. The solution is global “shunning” sanctions followed by a return to the loving arms of the global community.
That’s why the Iran nuke deal disaster happened. The diplomats didn’t care a radioactive fig about Iran’s nukes. They were invested in Iran’s membership in the “international community”. And they got what they wanted. They once got North Korea to sign on the dotted line too. And if you stand downwind of the latest test site with a Geiger counter, you know how that worked out.
If we want to win wars, we should stop being the world’s policeman. And defend ourselves instead.
Multilateral sanctions and multilateral coalitions aren’t our only two options. They’re our only two options if we want to spend our time enforcing the will of an imaginary international community.
The international community is a failed illusion. We’ve sacrificed far too many lives and too much money trying to defend our national interests by the rules of a post-national global order. That tragic mismatch dragged us into a disastrous and horrifying series of stalemates and lost wars. [snip]
If there’s any president who can actually break the cycle and replace policing with war, it’s President Trump. Trump is the first president in a long time to express skepticism about international commitments and the global order. And to propose that we serve our own national interests instead of serving the international community. And that is what needs to happen in North Korea.
For the military-industrial complex President Eisenhower warned America against, the ceaseless non-peace “peace” – the ceaseless non-war “war”, the Orwellian current state of affairs of never-ending war/peace is profitable. What the military-industrial complex and the globalists fear most is a real war with an ending – a real finite war with an end date in the history books. What the military-industrial complex enjoys the most is the nervous societal insecurity of a phony peace threatened by ceaseless phony wars to come.
The American non-war “wars” began in the Korean peninsula. The Korean “War” was called a “police action” authorized by the United Nations. Americans lost flowers/sons/daughters/ in the police action authorized by the United Nations.
Vietnam? Never a declared war there either. The many wars in the middle east likewise remained undeclared and “limited”. The only thing not limited in any of these “wars” is the full measure of devotion the fallen soldiers and their families suffered.
We should not be singing “where have all the flowers gone?” We should be singing “where have all the real wars gone?”
The non-war “wars” for America began with the Korean “War”. In Korea is where the non-war “wars” might finally end.
After the terrorist attacks against America in 2001 who was punished greatly that did not deserve the punishment? Americans. Americans suffered after the World Trade Center attacks. Americans endured and continue to endure demeaning security searches throughout the society. Americans now take off their shoes to board planes. Americans pay huge bills for phony “security” that does not secure anything but jobs for bureaucrats. The terrorists did not even lose their “haven” in Afghanistan.
The non-peace non-war insecurity state is where we all live now and endure what should be unendurable for a free peoples. North Korea might change all that. Perhaps the undiluted menace of North Korea is the brick wall of reality we are all about to hit. North Korea is a menace:
North Korea began a biological weapons program in the 1960s and is believed to be able to produce smallpox, anthrax, tularemia, and a number of other pathogens suitable for bioweapons. These may already be on missiles aimed at South Korea and Japan.
Worse, North Korean intelligence agents may have them, ready to strike in the U.S.
North Korea’s launch on Sunday of its most-sophisticated missile yet offered new clues into how serious the country is in its nuclear ambitions.
In the past three years, North Korea has launched more major missiles than in the three previous decades combined.
That acceleration is one of the most dramatic signs of leader Kim Jong Un’s push to overhaul the country’s weapons program since he took power in late 2011. He has modernized production of nuclear and missile parts, upgraded the program within the military hierarchy and overtly pampered engineers, forcing Western leaders to worry more about Pyongyang’s intentions than ever before.
On Sunday, North Korea launched a newly developed intermediate-range missile, its 10th missile firing this year. Mr. Kim attended the test of the nuclear-capable missile and described it as a “perfect weapon system,” according to a state media report. Initial projections from several experts suggested it would be able to reach U.S. military forces in Guam.
Even apparent failed missile launches, like one that blew up within minutes on April 28, are now seen by independent experts as signs of North Korea’s progress. Learning from those failures would move the regime closer to its ultimate goal of mastering a long-range missile that could threaten the U.S. with nuclear attack.
North Korea said it fired the missile at a high angle to avoid neighboring countries.
If it had been fired at a normal angle, analysts say, it could have flown much farther — estimates vary between 4,000 and 7,000 kilometers (2,500 and 4,350 miles), the upper number putting Alaska and possibly Hawaii within striking distance.
“This is a very uncomfortable development for the United States,” said Lee Illwoo, a Seoul-based commentator on military issues.
North Korea on Monday boasted of a successful weekend launch of a new type of “medium long-range” ballistic rocket that can carry a heavy nuclear warhead. Outsiders also saw a significant technological jump, with the test-fire apparently flying higher and for a longer time period than any other such previous missile.
Real war, brutal and destructive, is always avoided by the Hopium crowd until it arrives with a bang of reality. We are grateful that in the coming battle for the West and the future, President Donald J. Trump is sober and unafraid.
My argument: Nearly thirty years of “peace process” has left Palestinian-Israeli relations worse than when they started; therefore, further attempts (such as those Donald Trump is now initiating) are a fool’s errand. Compromise and “painful concessions” do not end conflicts; rather, history shows, one side giving up does so.
Breaking the Palestinian will to fight will be neither easy nor pleasant; but the only alternative is Israel’s disappearance. Palestinian acceptance of Israel hollows out anti-Zionism and will eventually prompt other Arabs and Muslims also to move on. Defeat will hugely benefit the Palestinians, who can finally end their destructive focus on the Jewish state and instead begin to build their own polity, economy, society, and culture.
My goal is to convince Washington to let Israel win; once this is achieved, Israelis can work out in detail how to attain this goal.
World War I ended in an armistice. World War I never really ended because there was no resolution of the conflict. The conflict erupted again and was finally settled with finality and total conclusion by World War II and the first nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
A real war ends a conflict. A phony war or a phony peace leads to more devastating conflict. Few know this better than those called to fight war.
Some will denounce the very idea of war. The denunciations will not come from those once imprisoned in death camps, the frozen of Valley Forge, nor the bloodied at Pearl Harbor.
As we approach Memorial Day 2017 and the first trans Atlantic trip by President Trump, it is well to remember that the “greatest generation” is so not because they wanted war in all its horrors, but because when it came time to choose our fate, they chose to fight, not cower behind delusions. It was their finest hour.
President Trump is not Barack Hussein Obama. Obama was a lead-from-my-behind asshole. Obama let the problems fester, profit, and proliferate. For eight years the cancers grew. Surgeon Trump will remove the problems.
It is a lot of problems President Trump inherited. Fortunately President Trump is not alone.

Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley was an odd anti-Trump choice for many when she was chosen by President Trump. But damn, girlfriend has been kicking ass at the U.N.
Agency heads will receive a 14-page memorandum outlining changes. The memo, which replaces the federal hiring ban Trump enacted in January, outlines cuts based on Trump’s “skinny” budget, released last month. The budget proposal called for deep cuts to domestic programs and an increase in military spending.
The memo tells agencies to “begin taking immediate actions to achieve near-term workforce reductions.” It also instructs agencies to develop by June 30 a plan to “maximize employee performance” — i.e., take steps to reward employees deemed effective while working to improve or dismiss weak performers. The memo also calls for delivery by September of an agency reform plan to shrink personnel to accommodate long term budget reductions outlined in the skinny budget.
Speaking to reporters, budget chief Mick Mulvaney said the end result will likely take effect in about 11 months. The executive branch will be dramatically different, Mulvaney said, with agencies operating more like private businesses. Mulvaney downplayed the cuts, saying the focus was on making agencies more efficient, not just smaller.
“Really what you’re talking about doing is restructuring Washington, D.C.,” Mulvaney said. “That is how you drain the swamp.”
“At the end of the day,” Mulvaney added, “this leads to a government that is dramatically more accountable, dramatically more efficient, and dramatically more effective at following through on the promises that the president made during the campaign.”
The White House’s latest instructions to the agencies would appear to bear the fingerprints of chief strategist Steve Bannon, who pledged himself publicly to “deconstruction of the administrative state.”
Jeff Sessions gave a speech at the southern border this week.
It’s Trump time, not weak Obama sleepy-time.
Why does Attorney General Jeff Sessions give such a tough Trumpy speech? Pew Research provides a hint:
Half (50%) of the 165,265 total arrests made by the federal government in fiscal 2014 – the most recent year for which statistics are available – were for immigration-related offenses, such as crossing the border illegally or smuggling others into the United States. A decade earlier, immigration-related offenses accounted for 28% of all federal arrests.
At the same time, arrests for drug crimes fell from 23% of the total in 2004 to 14% in 2014. Those for supervision violations, such as probation or parole infractions, fell from 17% to 14%. Arrests for property crimes, including fraud and embezzlement, declined from 11% to 8%. And arrests for weapon offenses, such as possession of an unregistered firearm, fell from 7% to 4%.
Illegal immigration and associated crimes committed by that population are a cancer on the country. Arrests of illegals cut down the resources that can be deployed to stop other crimes. The answer is not to stop arresting illegals and devote resources elsewhere. The answer is to stop the massive influx of illegal immigration then tackle other crimes once you have established the principle of “rule of law”.
Notice those numbers come from the Obama weakness era. “In 2014, 61% of all federal arrests involved non-U.S. citizens”. Back then no matter how many arrests of illegal immigrants took place, millions more illegals came in to replace those removed. Stopping illegal immigration is the nexus of all President Trump policies. These numbers don’t include state and local government arrests of illegal aliens committing more crimes in this country. You have to stop the bleeding before healing can begin. Doctor Jeff Sessions is on the job.
Secretary of Energy Rick Perry said the U.S. “is in the process of reviewing many of its policies and reserves its position on this issue, which will be communicated at a future date,” Italy’s industry and energy minister Carlo Calenda said in a statement.
Calenda said other G7 members “reaffirmed their commitment towards the implementation of the Paris Agreement to effectively limit the increase in global temperature well below 2°C above pre-industrial level.”
The Trump administration would not sign onto a statement mentioning Paris, since the president is still deciding whether or not to keep his campaign pledge. Perry also wanted the G7 to include support for coal and natural gas in its statement.
“Therefore, we believe it is wise for countries to use and pursue highly efficient energy resources,” Perry said in a statement after his meeting in Rome with energy ministers from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the European Union.
Perry specifically pushed for a commitment to “[h]igh efficiency, low-emission coal and natural gas with adequate financing from multi-lateral development banks and private sector investment.”
Perry also advocated for “[a]dvanced civil-nuclear technologies that are proliferation resistant, produce little to no waste and ensure safety.”
“Innovation is also a top priority for the Trump Administration,” Perry said. “We are committed to developing, deploying and commercializing breakthrough technologies and developing the necessary policies that will help renewables become competitive with traditional sources of energy.”
Italy, which hosted this year’s G7 meeting, pushed to include the Paris agreement in a policy statement member countries typically sign after these meetings end. No statement was signed since Perry couldn’t commit to backing Paris.
The Paris agreement went into effect in 2016, committing United Nations members to reduce greenhouse gas emissions blamed for global warming. President Barack Obama committed the U.S. to cut emissions 26 to 28 percent by 2025.
Trump promised to withdraw from the Paris agreement on the campaign trail, and the president has already issued executive orders to dismantle the regulatory regime Obama relied on to meet his Paris pledge.
The White house is split on whether or not to keep Trump’s campaign pledge. On one side, Ivanka Trump, White House aide Jared Kushner and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson support remaining in Paris. White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt oppose the Paris agreement.
Secretary “first neurosurgeon” Ben Carson of the Department of Housing and Urban Development? He might get stuck in elevators, but he knows where he is going:
Ben Carson Finds $500 Billion (Billion!) In Errors During Audit Of Obama HUD
Ben Carson was the first neurosurgeon to successfully separate conjoined twins, so, he’s kind of a super hero.
But apparently, he’s also not a bad accountant.
President Trump picked Carson to head the Department of Housing and Urban Development, whose budget grew by leaps and bounds under Barack Obama.
In one of his first acts as HUD Secretary, Carson ordered an audit of the agency. What he found was staggering: $520 billion in bookkeeping errors.
“The total amounts of errors corrected in HUD’s notes and consolidated financial statements were $516.4 billion and $3.4 billion, respectively,” the auditors wrote.
But there were plenty of other problems, too.
There were several other unresolved audit matters, which restricted our ability to obtain sufficient, appropriate evidence to express an opinion. These unresolved audit matters relate to (1) the Office of General Counsel’s refusal to sign the management representation letter, (2) HUD’s improper use of cumulative and first-in, first-out budgetary accounting methods of disbursing community planning and development program funds, (3) the $4.2 billion in nonpooled loan assets from Ginnie Mae’s stand-alone financial statements that we could not audit due to inadequate support, (4) the improper accounting for certain HUD assets and liabilities, and (5) material differences between HUD’s subledger and general ledger accounts. This audit report contains 11 material weaknesses, 7 significant deficiencies, and 5 instances of noncompliance with applicable laws and regulations. [snip]
So, look for Carson to get out his scalpel and start operating. Or perhaps he’ll use a machete.
Turns out “Gentle Ben” is a Grizzly.
Speaking of Grizzly, as is Mama Grizzly, U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley:
On Syria, Israel, Russia, and every other issue, Nikki Haley is “taking names”. She is schlonging the bad boys. Big Media doesn’t like it. Screw Big Media.
Screwing Big Media appears to be the joy of Secretary of State T-Rex Tillerson. T-Rex refuses to take Big Media along with him on his world-wide T-Rexing. Big Media can get their own travel arrangements made is the message from T-Rex. T-Rex has work to do and babysitting the travel of Big Media blowhards is not a job for a mighty T-Rex.
Big Media is a mosquito to T-Rex. A bigger gnat is Russian President Vladimir Putin. Anyone here remember when we declared Vladimir Putin to be a strong and powerful leader? We saw what Putin was up to in Syria and we saw the threat he posed to the world because it is in Russia’s interest to drive up the cost of oil. As we wrote, Putin has his own “operation Grand Slam” just like Goldfinger. That is Russia’s ultimate aim. Russia’s Vladimir Putin is a smart powerful guy who knows that because of instability in the middle east (hey, something could happen to those oil fields in Saudi Arabia if some country lobbed a bunch of missiles to set the whole place on fire) Russia is in position to profit handsomely.
Vladimir Putin indeed was, as we declared, a strong powerful leader. But that is like saying Woody Allen is a strong powerful man – in a roomful of pre-schoolers. Vladimir Putin was a strong powerful leader when the opposition was weak fey simpering apologist America-hating “managed decline” Barack Obama. Now Vladimir Putin is in opposition to President Donald J. Trump and Secretary of Defense General “Mad-dog” Mattis, and Secretary of State T-Rex Tillerson. Up against these is like Woody Allen up against Seal Team Six. All of a sudden you’re not so strong and powerful anymore.
In Moscow a few days ago, President Putin pretended his was not going to meet with his once friend T-Rex Tillerson. Obama Dimocrats opposed the confirmation of T-Rex because they said he was too close to Russian President Putin. But in Moscow, President Putin played games that he would not meet with President Trump’s emissary. In the end President Putin met with T-Rex for hours.
The Putin gamesmanship would have worked if he was up against weak, fey, simpering, lead-from-presenting-his-behind Barack Obama. But against T-Rex Trump, President Putin appeared to be old and weak, playing games long retired. The result of all the games is that T-Rex Trump took all the winnings.
Vladimir Putin is isolated because of his not credible position on the Syria issue. Putin looks either a liar or a fool. He knows it now. China abstained on the U.N. vote and did not veto as would usually be expected. China is also making some very powerful threats against North Korea, as our comments section has noted. Putin against Obama was a towering figure. Putin against T-Rex is a gnat. Putin against Trump is a mosquito.
To all that display of military and diplomatic might, President Trump adds his most powerful display of force. President Trump understands that the most important component of Make America Great Again is economic. To that end President Trump commands Mulvaney, Perry, Sessions, Carson, and even Paul Ryan (something is just not right with that boy) to make America an economic powerhouse.
On Paul Ryan (something is just not right with that boy), President Trump and his allies might have to drop a MOAB bomb on his head to get some work done from Paul Ryan (something is just not right with that boy). Obama Dimocrats too need a MOAB to drop on their heads and President Trump just might do that:
Nearly three weeks after Republican infighting sank an overhaul of the Affordable Care Act, President Donald Trump dug back into the battle on Wednesday, threatening to withhold payments to insurers to force Democrats to the negotiating table.
In an interview in the Oval Office, Mr. Trump said the White House may lack authority to make the payments established under his predecessor to reduce copayments and deductibles for some of the poorest customers who buy insurance under the 2010 Affordable Care Act. Cutting off the payments could trigger turmoil in insurance markets.
“I don’t want people to get hurt,” Mr. Trump said. “What I think should happen—and will happen—is the Democrats will start calling me and negotiating.”…
We’ve written about that before so we won’t beat a dead horse today. But something is not right with that Paul Ryan boy and the Obama Dimocrats need a house to fall on their heads. It might not be a house that falls on their heads. It might be a political MOAB.
As President Trump exercises his muscles across the sea, his domestic muscles grow that much stronger. MOAB is coming.
Update: The new Obama approved story line is “he killed because he was gay not because he was a Muslim terrorist!” Muslim terrorist ranks higher than gay in Obama world. It’s Obama Democrat versus Obama Democrat now. This will be the new line of defense for Muslim terrorist sympathizers at the Obama Democrat Party:
Mateen’s first wife, Sitora Yusufiy, 27, whom he met online in 2009 and married soon after, told Daily News his family think he murdered the 49 because he was in turmoil about who he really was – not because he was an Islamic extremist.
‘When we had gotten married, he confessed to me about his past — that was recent at that time – and that he very much enjoyed going to clubs and the nightlife,’ Yusufiy said.
‘So, I feel like it’s a side of him or a part of him that he lived but probably didn’t want everybody to know about.’
Yusufiy also spoke on a Brazilian TV station yesterday, joined by her fiance from the country, Marcio Dias.
Speaking Portuguese, he told the channel that Yusufiy told him Mateen had ‘gay tendencies’ and had been called gay in front of her on several occasions by his father.
He also said that she didn’t believe that Mateen’s supposed Islamic beliefs were at the root of his attack.
Michelle Obama will soon be crying on TV because the poor Muslim terrorist could not get a date with a man. Intelligent gay people won’t tolerate this protection of Muslim terrorism with a “blame the gay” libel.
In a lurid sense the Orlando Muslim Terrorist attack was an Obama supporter attacking other Obama supporters. Welcome to the world of Marxist contradiction and interest group politics.
If more evidence is needed of the utter stupidity of Hillary Clinton tying herself to Barack Obama and selling herself as the Obama Third Term, the latest Muslim Terrorist attack in Orlando is the latest pieces of evidence that Obama is the Kiss Of Death. What the Orlando Muslim Terrorist attack highlights is the bankruptcy of #Hillary2016’s interest group politics as a way to win an election in a year the public demands real CHANGE not false hope.
Consider the Muslim Terrorist attack in Orlando. Big Media is busy misdirecting attention along with #Hillary2016. The Muslim Terrorist killer was a registered Democrat busy attacking other alleged groups Big Media identifies as Democrats:
Daniel Gilroy said he worked the 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. shift with G4S Security at the south gate at PGA Village for several months in 2014-15. Mateen took over from him for a 3 to 11 p.m. shift.
Gilroy, a former Fort Pierce police officer, said Mateen frequently made homophobic and racial comments. Gilroy said he complained to his employer several times but it did nothing because he was Muslim.
The Orlando Muslim Terrorist hated blacks, gays, women, and apparently Latinos. Need we mention Jews? The Saturday night massacre was Democrat on Democrat violence. The Muslim Terrorist wasn’t fired because he was a Muslim. The Muslim Terrorist is a very Muslim man when it comes to the attitudes he shares with his fellow Muslims:
Law enforcement sources have identified the gunman in the Orlando terror attack as Omar Mateen, the child of Afghan migrants, according to CBS News.
Between 2001 and 2013, the U.S. permanently resettled nearly 30,000 Afghan migrants on green cards. According to Pew, nearly all Muslims in Afghanistan (99%) support sharia law as official law.
As legal immigrants, these migrants will be granted lifetime resettlement privileges will be given automatic work permits, welfare access, and the ability to become voting citizens.
Recently Donald J. Trump questioned the fairness of a federal judge of Mexican heritage presiding over a lawsuit in light of the fact that Donald J. Trump has been outspoken about illegal immigrants from everywhere, including Mexico, and the judge has links to many groups that advocate for Mexican illegals. That Sonia Sotomayor and much of the left touts “diversity” in order to bring different heritage groups to influence court decisions as decision makers seems to be exactly what Trump has been referencing. If the point of “diversity” is to praise the differences various life experiences from various heritages bring to institutions, how then can Trump be attacked for stating that sometimes those “differences” might be impediments to fairness or the perception of fairness. But fairness only works in one direction these days and it is usually against common sense.
James Comey, in a press conference just moments ago, said the FBI was “confused” as to Omar Mateen’s motivations. The jihadi made three different calls to 9/11. In his 9/11 call, Mateen said he was doing this for ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Mateen also said he was doing this in support of the Boston jihad bombers and the American suicide bomber who blew himself up in Syria (for al Nusra -an al Qaeda group). So Comey said the FBI is confused as to who he was supporting. I find this statement shocking. These Islamic groups are waging jihad in the cause of Islam. That is what Mateen is supporting. 15 years after 9/11, the FBI director is confused about the jihadi’s motivations?
President Obama said at a press conference earlier today that Omar Mateen was inspired by “extremist information.” That’s positively Goebblelseque.
During a special report Monday morning, President Barack Obama says investigators are still looking into the motivations of the shooter, including the fact that the shooting took place at a gay venue. (FOX 59)
Is it any wonder we are losing this war?
Comey went on to explain why FBI dropped the investigation into Omar Mateen. Mateen claimed to be aligned with Islamic terrorist groups and threatened co-workers. When the FBI questioned Mateen, he claimed his co-workers were picking on him “because he was Muslim.” The case the dropped.
Additionally, the FBI said they investigated Mateen for 10 months beginning in May 2013 after he made “inflammatory and contradictory statements” to co-workers. The FBI interviewed him twice.
He admitted to making the comments but said it was because his co-workers were racist and making fun of him because he was Muslim. (FOX News)
Islamophobia, a club Muslims wield to silence critics of Islam and stymie law enforcement.
Anyone remember “Clock Boy”? That was the Muslim student who carried what looked like a bomb into school. A good citizen reported that what turned out to be a digital clock stripped of it’s cover and stuffed into a briefcase, as appearing to be a bomb. The good citizen who “saw something” and said something followed the post 9/11 rule “if you see something, say something”. The good citizen was castigated and Clock Boy was hugged by Barack Obama (eventually Clock Boy went to Sudan with his family after denouncing America, only to beg to be allowed back in once they saw the hell hole Sudan is).
Good citizen Daniel Gilroy likewise reported the Muslim Terrorist only to be denounced as a “racist” and “Islamaphobe” to the FBI. After two – TWO – investigations of the Muslim Terrorist the FBI succumbed to political correctness. If the FBI cannot stop a Muslim Terrorist after two investigations, due to reports from good citizens, the FBI and the security of the nation are in great trouble. The trouble is at the top.
Hillary Clinton reacts to Orlando shooting: I won’t ‘declare war’ on a religion
While reaffirming her support to toughen up gun control efforts, Hillary Clinton also called upon the nation’s leaders to show “statesmanship” rather than politics following the nation’s deadliest shooting that took place over the weekend at a gay nightclub. [snip]
“All this talk and demagogy and rhetoric is not going to solve the problem. I’m not going to demonize and demagogue and declare war on an entire religion. That’s just plain dangerous and it plays into ISIS’s hands,” she said.
Clinton also urged the nation to reject calls by the powerful gun lobby and push for a ban on assault weapons.
“We can not fall into the trap set by the gun lobby that says if you can’t stop every shooting and every incident you shouldn’t try to stop any. That is not how laws work. It’s not common sense,” she said.
“We need to get these weapons of war off the streets. We had an assault weapons ban, it expired, and we need to reinstate it. From San Bernardino to Aurora, Colorado to Sandy Hook and now to Orlando, we have seen the devastation that these military style weapons cause,” the former secretary of state explained.
“We’re going to try to put a huge coalition together of all the groups, all the individuals who care about this issue, those who have been touched by it and try to get common sense gun safety reform passed in order to protect the people of our country.”
Hillary Clinton on Muslim Terror is devoid of sense. Paris, France has strict gun control but the Bataclan nightclub was attacked by Muslim Terrorist with guns. Muslim Terrorists do not care about gun control or injunctions against possession of bombs. Why then does Hillary Clinton babble about gun control after the Muslim Terrorist attack that killed blacks, gays, Latinos, young people, and yeah, presumably Jews?
Instead of gun control Hillary Clinton should explain the State Department connection to the Muslim Terrorist’s father. The Muslim Terrorist killer’s father supported the Taliban and there are plenty of questions and answers Hillary Clinton should provide on this relation. There’s also the reports that the Muslim Terrorist and his second wife plotted together, including a possible attack against Disney in Orlando. Common sense demands sharp questions and truthful answers.
Seizing on Sunday’s mass shooting at an Orlando nightclub, Donald Trump renewed his call for a ban on Muslims entering the United States and said he would take U.S. immigration policy “from totally incompetent to just the opposite.”
Trump continued the victory lap he began Sunday, touting his proposal to temporarily restrict Muslims from entering the U.S. as the only plan with any hope of keeping Americans safe. Omar Mateen, who killed 49 people in an Orlando gay nightclub, was born in the U.S. but Trump said Sunday’s attack would not have happened if the shooter’s family, including his father, who has expressed pro-Taliban sentiments in the past, had never been admitted into the country from Afghanistan.
“The current politically correct response cripples our ability to talk and to think and act clearly,” Trump said. “We’re not acting clearly. We’re not talking clearly. We’ve got problems. If we don’t get tough and if we don’t get smart and fast, we’re not going to have our country anymore. There will be nothing, absolutely nothing left.”
“We cannot talk around issues anymore. We have to address these issues head on. I called for a ban after San Bernardino. And was met with great scorn and anger,” he continued. “Many are saying that I was right to do so and although the pause is temporary, we must find out what is going on. We have to do it. It will be lifted, this ban, when and as a nation we’re in a position to properly and perfectly screen these people coming into our country. They’re pouring in and we don’t know what we’re doing.”
Donald Trump is pure common sense. If it talks like a treacherous duck, walks like a treacherous duck, it is a treacherous duck:
Trump attacks Obama: ‘He’s got something else in mind’
‘He doesn’t get it or he gets it better than anybody understands. It’s one or the other,’ the GOP’s presumptive nominee said.
Donald Trump stepped up his criticism of President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Monday, pointedly questioning Obama’s lack of willingness to call the act “radical Islamic terrorism” and insinuating that the president’s sympathies might lie elsewhere.
“He doesn’t get it or he gets it better than anybody understands. It’s one or the other,” Trump said of Obama on “Fox & Friends,” speaking on the phone. “And either one is unacceptable, No. 1, and No. 2, calling on another gun ban, I mean, this man has no clue.”
Trump again implied that the president was not a trustworthy leader who failed to prevent Omar Mateen, an apparently radicalized 29-year-old Florida man, from going on a shooting rampage at an Orlando nightclub early Sunday morning, killing 49 and injuring at least 53.
“We’re led by a man who is a very — look, we’re led by a man that either is, is not tough, not smart, or he’s got something else in mind,” Trump said. “And the something else in mind, you know, people can’t believe it. People cannot — they cannot believe that President Obama is acting the ways he acts and can’t even mention the words radical Islamic terrorism. There’s something going on. It’s inconceivable.”
Donald J. Trump is an effective enemy of Muslim Terrorist killers. Donald J. Trump makes sense.
Update II: Crisis! We might have more on this tomorrow. Enough to say right now that we have been waiting for polls from after Saturday’s debate. All the polls before the debate don’t amount to a hill of beans right now.
The question is “did Donald J. Trump blow himself up with his monumental gamble of attacking George W. Bush and the Iraq War in a state where GWB is at 80% popularity and a state which has many veterans?” Post debate polls will give us the clue as to whether Trump’s gamble wins big or loses big. Tighten your girdles, hang on to your hats, clutch your pearls, and pull your hair — the first, after the debate, clue has arrived:
FIRST ON BUZZ: After debate, Trump still tops SC GOP presidential race
Donald Trump still is leading the S.C. Republican presidential race after the weekend’s explosive GOP debate in Greenville.
But the race for second place in Saturday’s primary appears to be narrowing.
Behind Trump, who has 35 percent support in the poll, U.S. Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida and Ted Cruz of Texas are tied for second place — at 18 percent each, according to a Public Policy Polling survey released exclusively Monday to The State.
Crisis and panic in the land of the lost!!! If the GOP establishment, Big Media, and the political establishment in its entirety cannot stop Trump in South Carolina now, then where, when? If Trump can make it there, Trump can make it anywhere… it’s up to you… South Carolina.
It was the St. Valentine’s Eve massacre. Donald Trump machine gunned the stage and audience, and few have noticed all the dead bodies lying around.
Some of Big Media commentary, the wishful thinking but not very bright “analysis” has been that Donald Trump destroyed himself at the debate last night. That’s not what we saw. We have eyes to see, and ears to hear, and we understand strategy and tactics which is why we see all the blood and Trump triumphant. We’ll explain.
What the Hell was Donald Trump up to last night? The clues include Henry Kissinger and Bill Clinton. Can you figure it out with the clues we just gave you?
Here we go: remember when Hillary Clinton accused Donald Trump of being a sexist then Donald Trump went all ape-sh*t against Bill Clinton? Notice how Bill and Hillary have laid off Trump since then? See what Trump did there?
Also, did you notice that Donald Trump went nuclear against Bill Clinton at the very moment that Bill Clinton was to commence his campaign appearances on behalf of Hillary? Donald Trump turned Bill Clinton’s triumphant return to the center stage into a Big Media revisit down sexual history lane.
So, um, Bill Clinton returns to the center stage and Trump preps the battlefield with a bombardment against Bill Clinton under the guise of a “response” to Hillary’s attack. Do you get it now?
Last night, as George W. Bush debuts his return to the center stage to campaign on behalf of Fredo, er Jeb, on Monday, Trump prepped the battlefield with a bombardment. Trump did to George W. Bush’s return when Trump did to Bill Clinton’s return. On Monday, when George W. Bush campaigns for little bro, the nation will revisit the Iraq War. Won’t that be fun?
We here at Big Pink detest George W. Bush. We don’t think much about Daddy Bush either. Barbara Bush is not a favorite here either. In the past few years we’ve felt much kindlier towards George W. and the Bush clan – but only because in comparison to Barack Obama we consider the two Bush presidents to be patriotic, good Americans, even if their policies hurt the United States.
So here we are, like millions of others, thinking much kinder, gentler thoughts towards the Presidents Bush, but that all goes out the window if the discussion is not a Bush v. Obama discussion but rather a “was George W. Bush a good president for this country?” question. No.
We like the Presidents Bush a thousand times more that Obama but that does not mean we can defend the policies as implemented by the Presidents Bush. And yes, we understand that the Bush “surge” in Iraq helped secure the country and that Bush eventually got Iraq under some control and had pretty much stabilized Afghanistan and that Barack Obama is to blame for the carnage there today. All that is true.
But the Iraq War was a monumental mistake because it helped Iran. And Donald Trump gets all that and he shouts it out in front of the Republican establishment as the establishment shouts boos at Trump.
Got that? Now, let’s go to Kissinger, Henry Kissinger. Did you think it was crazy for Bernie Sanders to attack Hillary Clinton on her good relationship with former Secretary of State and National Security Adviser Henry Kissinger at their last debate? It was crazy, but what Sanders was doing was painting Hillary into a “she’s a right wing war-monger” corner and himself as the “Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party” Howard Dean speaking truth to power even thought Bernie is a socialist who has not been a Democrat.
Bernie Sanders would love to re-litigate Hillary Clinton’s entire past and relationships as well as the entire history of American wars and foreign policy. Bernie Sanders at every turn reminds everyone of the Iraq War which he voted against and Hillary voted for an authorization of war.
Bernie Sanders would love to re-litigate the Iraq War to smash Hillary in the same way Barack Obama used Hillary’s vote to attack Hillary in 2008. Donald Trump?
Do you get it yet? Donald Trump wants to re-litigate the Iraq War too at the very moment George W. Bush returns to South Carolina, “Bush country”, to campaign for his hapless, low energy, stiff of a brother.
Trump calls them “boo birds”. Who did the boo birds want to help? The boo birds wanted to help Jeb Bush but the boo birds’ favorite was Marco Rubio. The boo birds want to help Rubio, but did Rubio help himself? No.
Powell’s UN speech, part of the Bush administration’s public case for the U.S. invasion of Iraq, with its unsupported assertions of mobile Iraqi biological-warfare labs and a “sinister nexus” between Iraq and al-Qaeda terrorists, was based on “deeply flawed” evidence, Powell writes.
“So why did no one stand up and speak out during the intense hours we worked on the speech?” Powell writes. “‘Some of these same analysts later wrote books claiming they were shocked that I have relied on such deeply flawed evidence.“
It was lies and delusions. Not Obama style “hate America” lies but the Iraq War hurt America. And lies did sell it:
A former top aide to Colin Powell says his involvement in the former secretary of state’s presentation to the United Nations on Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction was “the lowest point” in his life.
“I wish I had not been involved in it,” says Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, a longtime Powell adviser who served as his chief of staff from 2002 through 2005. “I look back on it, and I still say it was the lowest point in my life.”
Wilkerson is one of several insiders interviewed for the CNN Presents documentary “Dead Wrong — Inside an Intelligence Meltdown.” The program pieced together the events leading up to the mistaken WMD intelligence that was presented to the public. A presidential commission that investigated the pre-war WMD intelligence found much of it to be “dead wrong.”
Powell’s speech, delivered on February 5, 2003, made the case for the war by presenting U.S. intelligence that purported to prove that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. Wilkerson says the information in Powell’s presentation initially came from a document he described as “sort of a Chinese menu” that was provided by the White House. [snip]
In one dramatic accusation in his speech, Powell showed slides alleging that Saddam had bioweapons labs mounted on trucks that would be almost impossible to find.
“In fact, Secretary Powell was not told that one of the sources he was given as a source of this information had indeed been flagged by the Defense Intelligence Agency as a liar, a fabricator,” says David Kay, who served as the CIA’s chief weapons inspector in Iraq after the fall of Saddam. That source, an Iraqi defector who had never been debriefed by the CIA, was known within the intelligence community as “Curveball.”
After searching Iraq for several months across the summer of 2003, Kay began e-mailing Tenet to tell him the WMD evidence was falling apart. At one point, Wilkerson says, Tenet called Powell to tell him the claims about mobile bioweapons labs were apparently not true.
Trump is right. Wanna re-litigate the Iraq War in 2016 Jeb?
As bad as the Iraq War re-litigation is for Jebby. It is Marco Rubio that blew himself up to smithereens.
At the GOP debate Marco Rubio defended George W. Bush with more energy than the brother with low energy, the stiff Jeb. But Marco Rubio’s defense of George W. Bush should have every conservative, every Republican, every smart thinking Democrat, everybody very very worried about Rubio.
Here’s Marco Rubio’s defense of George W. Bush and the World Trade Center attacks as well as on the Iraq War:
Did George W. Bush keep us safe even though as Trump correctly asserts the World Trade Center towers came tumbling down? Fast talking Rubio fast talks through that nonsense but that is not the problem with Rubio’s world view policy. Donald Trump should focus on what Rubio said if the race ever comes down to Trump v. Rubio, as the political establishment desires.
Watch again, catch the problem with what Rubio said:
Marco Rubio takes the reprehensible, anti-conservative, anti-Republican position that the United States should bankrupt itself, send young American women and men into death’s jaws – IN ORDER TO ENFORCE WHAT THE UNITED NATIONS WANTS.
Marco Rubio defends the Iraq War because the U.N. passed resolutions against Iraq. Think about that!
Vote for Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio and vote for perpetual dumb war instead of what is in the national security interest of the United States. Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio want to be George W. Bush III. The boo birds will feather their nests with perpetual dumb war, not necessary and smart wars. Trump is the change candidate the boo birds hate.
Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush blew themselves up last night. Donald J. Trump machine gunned, like Kelly, the entire Republican establishment, the Big Media establishment, the internationalists, the neo-cons, the America as world’s policeman, crackpots, and these loons think it is Trump that is hurt by the truth. Trump told the needed to be told truth.
The truth sets you free. That’s why Trump is free – flying high over the field, like an eagle, feasting on boo birds.
What do white evangelicals, Muslims, Mormons, blacks, conservative Republicans, and immigrants from Africa, South America, and Central America all have in common? They’re less likely to support gay marriage than the average Californian. [snip]
The owners of Memories Pizza are, I think, mistaken in what their Christian faith demands of them. And I believe their position on gay marriage to be wrongheaded. But I also believe that the position I’ll gladly serve any gay customers but I feel my faith compels me to refrain from catering a gay wedding is less hateful or intolerant than let’s go burn that family’s business to the ground. [snip]
A relatively big digital mob has been attacking this powerless family in rural Indiana, but I don’t get the sense that its participants have reflected on or even thought of these questions. I don’t think they recognize how ugly, intolerant and extreme their actions appear or the effect they’ll have on Americans beyond the mainstream media, or that their vitriolic shaming these people has ultimately made them into martyrs. I fear that a backlash against their tactics will weaken support for the better angels of the gay rights movement at a time when more progress needs to be made, and that they’re turning traditionalists into a fearful, alienated minority with a posture of defensiveness that closes them off to persuasion.
We detest bully boys and bully boy tactics. It doesn’t matter if the bully boys wear brown shirts or rainbow shirts… blue shirts or red shirts.
We’re disgusted. Not discouraged, not resigned, disgusted.
Why? Sample the news stories of past few days, weeks, months, as they appeared on one day.
On one day this week Vladimir Putin threatened nuclear war over Crimea, Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia. That was not all, “Russia has threatened to use “nuclear force” to defend its annexation of Crimea and warned that the “same conditions” that prompted it to take military action in Ukraine exist in the three Baltic states, all members of Nato.” Anyone think NATO, under current leadership will fulfill it’s treaty obligations to the Baltic States and defend them if strong leader Putin attacks? Anyone think still occupied Crimea will be an issue for the craven West?
On the same day two Muslim women in New York City were arrested because they plotted bomb attacks against the United States. These Muslim women planned attacks in and against a democratic country where women are free in order to defend a religion and political movement that despises women (and gays).
The reaction to the two Muslim potential killers from an American woman senator? Censorship. That disgusting woman senator from California, Dianne Feinstein, thinks that the thing to do is remove the “Anarchist Cookbook”and terrorist publications from the internet. It’s freedom hating censorship in the name of freedom. Think this silly censorship will work? Instead of a call for a vigorous defense of freedom in national policy and destruction of the totalitarian movements which propel the Putins and the Muslim killers, we get a futile call for censorship that at best will not work. We will not defeat this Muslim terror mentality with hashtag Twitter campaigns nor internet activism censorship. Did #BringBackOurGirls bring back those girls?
On the same day as the above events occurred we also saw continued attacks against a pizza store because the owner surmised they would not cater a gay wedding if they were ever asked. What person, gay or straight, would cater their wedding with pizza?
It wasn’t about pizza of course. The pizza shop in Indiana was collateral damage in a bigger fight against anti-gay institutional discrimination and the rights of conscience (which have been a fundamental bulwark in every movement for freedom in this country) guaranteed under the First Amendment.
How foolish was this “fight” on the part of gay activists? The very powerful gay boss of one of the most powerful companies in the world, Apple, denounced Indiana and a new religious rights law and threatened to economically deprive Indiana of Apple dollars. Think about that. The economic powerhouse Apple is led by a gay man who opens Apple stores in the most anti-women and anti-gay Muslim countries yet the target of his gay ire is Indiana because the presumed anti-gay wedding non caterers are Christian.
When will the gay rights movement target Muslim bakeries and ask them to cater gay weddings? When will some proud gay black man walk into a business owned by a member of Chicago’s Nation of Islam and demand his gay wedding be catered by anti-gay anti-Christian anti-woman Louis Farrakhan?
What disgusts us about the gay activist attacks against Christianity is not so much the hypocrisy of the protection of gay killing Muslims and gay killing Muslim countries. What is particularly disgusting is the totalitarian mind control exhibited by the supposed defenders of gay rights. And we issue this warning to our allies that support gay rights: “the whole world is watching”.
“The whole world is watching” is typically used by freedom movements to advance on the moral high ground. But in this case, “the whole world is watching” is more of an ominous threat. In many of the Muslim countries the gay rights movement in the United States is watched with loathing (and yes this is despite the fact that many of the Muslim countries have huge closeted gay populations within them and even some not so closeted (think dancing boys of Afghanistan) gay populations). They’re watching the gay movement in America and see the intolerance of the gay movement here and prepare.
In Russia the anti-gay movement is as intolerant as the gay movement in America is becoming. An Associated Press poll finds that anti-gay bigotry is gaining ground in Russia and new laws against gays are on the rise. The gay movement in America and the West should remain on the high ground of tolerance and freedom not on the mind control totalitarian repression of opposing views. Don’t become what you fought against Gay America.
So, as a pizza shop was under attack for expressing an idea, not doing or not doing anything, but for the expression of a thought, Yemen too was in the news. In Yemen Muslim nuts fight Muslim nuts. In Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Egypt, Yemen, Kenya, throughout the Middle East and every Muslim Country and beyond “the world is on fire”, as Speaker of the House John Boehner said.
What was the Obama response to a world on fire? Gasoline!
The thing that no one, supporter or opponent, can deny about the Iran deal is this: Under the agreed “framework,” after ten or 15 years, Iran will be permitted to develop all the nuclear weapons it wants. This agreement is not, as the White House claimed it would be, a deal to stop Iran’s nuclear weapons program. It is merely a way to manage and delay it. [snip]
The principle is simple. Crazy, violent, apocalyptic, militaristic, expansionist sponsors of terrorism are not to be trusted with the atom bomb.
An Iranian bomb would also mean the end of nonproliferation efforts. [snip]
This deal leaves the entire Iranian nuclear weapons production line in place. Iran will even be permitted to continue spinning thousands of centrifuges and enrich uranium, though not at the level needed for a bomb. Assuming they don’t cheat, which they always have. [snip]
Iran’s decades of illegal work on a nuclear weapon is now officially legitimized.
“I’m a little puzzled by the political agreement,” said Olli Heinonen, a previous inspections chief at the U.N.’s nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency. “You’re going to leave Iran as a threshold state. There isn’t much room to maneuver.”
Iranian Defector: ‘U.S. Negotiating Team Mainly There to Speak on Iran’s Behalf’
An Iranian journalist writing about the nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran has defected. In an interview Amir Hossein Motaghi, has some harsh words for his native Iran. He also has a damning indictment of America’s role in the nuclear negotiations.
“The U.S. negotiating team are mainly there to speak on Iran’s behalf with other members of the 5+1 countries and convince them of a deal,” Motaghi told a TV station after just defecting from the Iranian delegation while abroad for the nuclear talks. The P 5 + 1 is made up of United States, United Kingdom, Russia, China, France, plus Germany.
France felt the Americans were keeping France and the other negotiating partners in the dark about the talks. Rather it being P5+1, it has really been the U.S. only talking to Iran. And the French negotiators complained in private the Americans were trying to “force them to make concessions on issues like the number of centrifuges allowed or sanctions.
The French ambassador to the US tweeted his displeasure at the beginning of March, “We want a deal. They need a deal. The tactics and the result of the negotiation should reflect this asymmetry.”
None of Iran’s nuclear facilities — including the Fordow center buried under a mountain — will be closed. Not one of the country’s 19,000 centrifuges will be dismantled. Tehran’s existing stockpile of enriched uranium will be “reduced” but not necessarily shipped out of the country. In effect, Iran’s nuclear infrastructure will remain intact, though some of it will be mothballed for 10 years. When the accord lapses, the Islamic republic will instantly become a threshold nuclear state.
That’s a long way from the standard set by President Obama in 2012 when he declared that “the deal we’ll accept” with Iran “is that they end their nuclear program” and “abide by the U.N. resolutions that have been in place.” Those resolutions call for Iran to suspend the enrichment of uranium. Instead, under the agreement announced Thursday, enrichment will continue with 5,000 centrifuges for a decade, and all restraints on it will end in 15 years. [snip]
The proposed accord will provide Iran a huge economic boost that will allow it to wage more aggressively the wars it is already fighting or sponsoring across the region. Whether that concession is worthwhile will depend in part on details that have yet to be agreed upon, or at least publicly explained.
To quote Winston Churchill under remarkably similar circumstances after Munich: We have suffered an unmitigated defeat. And just like in 1938, our national leader is painting it as a victory over the warmongers without any recognition that he’s just set loose the real warmongers, and what follows will be disaster and ignominy.
We’re disgusted with good reason(s). Allies we thought better of now act more like the totalitarians they oppose. At every level the West and its ideals of tolerance and freedom are in retreat. A party and party leadership we once respected follow the treacherous leader into managed decline of America and all the dread consequences that will bring about.
But we’re not despondent, dispirited, despairing.
For Christians, Good Friday is not because it is particularly “good”. It’s more “solemn”. On “good” Friday the founder of their religion was crucified. The “lamb of God” on a gibbet much like a butchered Passover lamb is not a pretty sight. But the idea of “good” comes from the sacrifice for humanity and the promise of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday and a latter resurrection for humanity through His sacrifice.
So we’re not despondent, dispirited, or despairing, although we are disgusted. We’ll take the disgust on this Good Friday and hope that things get better soon. It won’t be Sunday. But a better day is sure to come. It can’t get worse.
We received a good gift just in time for Veterans Day 2014. It came from a shy reader who does not comment but faithfully reads every day. She sent us pictures a family member (David) had sent her.
One picture in particular graced us:
Talking with one of WWII’s first heroes, 99 year old Lt Col Richard Cole, who was Gen James Doolittle’s’ co-pilot on the first B-25 to take off for the raid on Tokyo. Cole is one of only four living Raiders, is still sharp as a tack. He said that he was scared, but that he didn’t want to be recognized for anything other than just doing his job.
Ninety-nine years young and Lieutenant Colonel Richard Cole can still probably get more dates than a Hollywood pinup boy. He’s a veteran that like so many has an amazing story to tell:
On December 7, 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and U.S. commanders wanted to strike back. The way to do it? A secret bombing run over Japan led by airmen like Lt. Col. Richard Cole, reports CBS News correspondent Anna Werner.
He’s 98 years old now, but he still remembers the moment when he joined the mission called the “Doolittle Raid” as a 26-year-old Air Force pilot. A message on a bulletin board was seeking people who wanted to sign up for a dangerous mission.
“There were already other people’s names there, so maybe it was a little bit of inspiration,” Cole said.
CBS News met Cole at the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas, where a permanent exhibit tells the story of the mission.
The pilots’ mission was to hit back by doing what no one had ever done before: take off in their B-25 bombers from the deck of an aircraft carrier in the Pacific then fly 600 miles to the Japanese coast to drop their bombs.
The man who would lead them was Gen. James Doolittle, a master in military aviation.
Cole still remembers what Doolittle said about the mission.
“He said that it was a very dangerous mission. Anybody wanted to back out, they could without any repercussions.”
No one backed out.
On the morning of April 18, 1942, they took off, headed for their key target: Tokyo. Cole and Doolittle led the fleet in their plane.
Congressional Medal of Honor winner Richard Cole and three other of Doolittle’s Raiders did a whole lot for this country. We owe them and all veterans a debt that cannot be repaid.
Lately it seems like we owe them a debt we will not repay.
Recently the Veterans’ Administration scandals insulted the memory of those who gave their lives in service to us all. The insult extends to those veterans still with us and in need of care as well as those who will one day need to be cared for. They did a lot. We are the ones that do little.
President Abraham Lincoln in his second inaugural address set as a point of honor that the nation would “care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan”. We have not fulfilled that debt with the honor and devotion due.
Indeed, recently, insults are freely spat upon those whose deeds provided us with that continued freedom of speech. In a shameless article at the rancid Salon Magazine a snake wrote of our veterans “You don’t protect my freedom: Our childish insistence on calling soldiers heroes deadens real democracy.” We won’t link to that anti-white racist filth although the trash can be read at other sites critical of the insult:
The best way to recognize Veterans Day is to thank a vet. Just walk up to a veteran, shake their hand and thank them for their service.
Let the fools at Salon defend their own freedoms.
The picture of Richard Cole is not the only one we received. Along with the picture of the DidAWholeLot Raider (all the pictures were taken in late October 2014 in New Orleans) we received these fun photos of these pretty planes that helped save the world from tyranny (captions by “David”):
A P-51D getting ready for takeoff:
B-17 taxiing out”:
The world’s only flying SB2-C Helldiver:
Sarah and the Victory Belles who had just performed a tribute to the Andrews Sisters. They were great singers! Brought tears to the eyes of some of the old veterans:
Update:Scott Brown gets it – “You know, I thought a lot about this and I do support arming them. But I’m frustrated with the incoherent policy that led us to this point.”
That one ad is an attack on Obama’s illegal immigration amnesty plans combined with an attack on Obama’s weakness against terrorism along with a visual reminder about Brown’s military background designed to appeal to “security moms.” The tough and truthful ad ties Ebola Obama to Senator Shaheen.
Not tough? Barack Obama brought his brand of sleeping pills to the United Nations today. “Incoherent” and “weak” are insufficient to describe the bumbling drone. The president seems to be thinking that he’s playing a game of “Risk” with his high school friends in Hawaii.
Today’s UN soporific is proof that Obama is unhinged from reality. Obama demands that the world see things his way and if not… well… there will be another speech. And if bombs have to be dropped because of “security mom” votes needed to win in this November’s elections, so be it… but don’t worry ’cause Obama isn’t serious about force. Yeah, Obama rebukes Russia, demands action against ISIS, invokes Ferguson in UN speech but no world leader believes Obama or thinks Obama is relevant or trustworthy.
Wanna know who understands force? The guys that chop off heads understand force and fear. They laugh at Barack Obama.
Hillary Clinton should have resigned. Leon Panetta should have resigned. The Joint chiefs should have resigned. Obama’s War should finally end the notion that any of the above should have resigned in protest or for whatever noble or principled reason.
Hillary, Panetta, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in normal times with a normal American president should have resigned in protest over the bumbling, stumbling, the lies, the boobery, the treacheries. But imagine if any of these had resigned in protest. What sycophant, what loon, what contrary-to-American-interests Samantha Power/Susan Rice types would Barack Obama have appointed in their stead? Picture a Ralph Nader in uniform promoted to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for some idea of that alternate future scenario.
Hillary and Bill Clinton, Leon Panetta, Bob Gates, the American military top brass all advised Barack Obama to arm the Syrian rebels at a time that Barack Obama made tough threats about “red lines”. Ted Cruz, with good reason, worried that Obama’s “red lines” would turn the United States air force into an pro-Al Qaeda air force.
The problem was that once Barack Obama made the “red line” threat he had to put up or shut up. Syria stepped over the “red lines” that led to an Obama display of his yellow streak and Obama blamed the world for his own empty words. The advice to arm Syrian “rebels” was a way to keep a threat, wise or unwise, by an American president credible. “Speak softly but carry a big stick” was perverted by Obama into “boast loudly and stroke a small flaccid dick”. The advice to arm Syrian “rebels” was a stinky fragrance out of a sewer of bad smells.
In a sense this advice was a variation of the smart Ronald Reagan strategy during the Iran/Iraq War of “arm the loser”. It is a strategy of “let them kill each other” and if anything good comes of this then good for us and let’s keep it going. Instead we are now involved in yet another exercise of nation-building. That is exactly what the left lionized Barack Obama would not do. Instead we have what David Gergen has called another version of the ObamaCare rollout.
At the time the allegedly “moderate” Syrian rebels could have been supplied with arms. Then it was a matter of what these alleged “moderates” did with those arms and a determination of who the “moderate” rebels were. By “moderates” the distinction is comparable to the East Coast versus West Coast fights of American rappers. Think “Bloods” versus “Crips”.
If the “moderates” turned out to be “moderates” in any sense then the arms could continue to flow. If supply of weapons to these “moderates” turned out to be a mistake then the supply of weapons could have been turned off quickly. That was the advice from Hillary, Panetta, Gates, and the Joint Chiefs.
Obama called that advice a “fantasy” and later “horsesh*t”. It was the kettle calling the pot black. Now Obama is become what Obama mocked. Obama policy is become what Obama derided.
Now we have the worst of all scenarios. Obama’s “fantasy” has become Obama’s War.
The first American president under the Constitution, George Washington, warned in his farewell address against foreign entanglements such as we face now in the Middle East. Any claim to clarity of purpose in Obama’s War is shattered by the intricate analyses of Shiites and Sunnis and factions within factions of terrorist groups and tribes and Imams and customs and sorts of lunacies we should not have anything to do with.
George W. Bush led the country into an unwise war in Iraq. The beneficiary of that war was Iran. The main beneficiary of Obama’s War is Assad of Syria as well as Putin of Russia. Iran is also smiling. There are plenty of oil despots also happy. America used to have client states in the Middle East to project our power and interests. Now, because of Barack Obama the United States is now the client state to despots and tyrants.
It was Obama’s yellow streak of cowardice that led to Obama’s War in Syria. This cannot be blamed on George W. Bush.
Because of Barack Obama’s appeasements, obeisance to Muslim despots, and sweet words to the “Muslim world” the darkest of dark forces have been let loose. ISIS is a genuine threat to the United States. ISIS is enabled by Barack Obama. No bomb drops will change the fact that ISIS was birthed and teated by Barack Obama who thought of them as junior varsity collegians he could entreat like a lonely faculty member in the Harvard cafeteria.
In 2008 Hillary Clinton and those of us who questioned Barack Obama’s lack of, or warped “naive” world view were attacked as racists. Now Politico goes full racist:
President Barack Obama is back at the United Nations this week, but the more peaceful world he saw emerging just a year ago is looking like a distant, even naive, dream.
“We’ve also worked to end a decade of war … shifting away from a perpetual war footing,” Obama told the U.N. delegates and fellow heads of state last September. “The world is more stable than it was five years ago.”
Just in the past few months, the rise of the brutal Islamic State terrorist group has lured the U.S. back into military action in the Mideast, Russia has annexed part of Ukraine and a deadly virus has rampaged across Africa, killing thousands and threatening to bring down governments there.
In each crisis, Obama has been faulted for dithering while the situation grew worse and turning aside opportunities to act in the hope of assembling an international response that has so far proved inadequate.
“He’s in a much worse position, without a doubt, than a year ago. … You’ve got a world on fire,” said former Mideast peace negotiator Aaron David Miller. “The presidency is all about managing disorder and unruliness and managing perceptions so that the world’s not seen as being in chaos. He’s not been able to convey a strategy for dealing for all this, so I think it’s much grimmer for him a year later.”
The left propped the bag of feces called Barack Obama as if it was a golden calf. Now the chickens have come home to roost:
Indeed, much of the past week was a reminder of foreign policy failures.
Last year, Obama pushed U.S. efforts to solve the Arab-Israeli conflict only to see peace talks fall apart and relations escalate into full-scale war as Israel responded to rocket attacks from Gaza with incursions by Israeli ground forces and artillery shelling.
Talks with Iran over its nuclear program are continuing in New York this week, but they may be headed for a kind of stalemate. The Obama administration is reportedly exploring stopgap measures that might satisfy it but seem unlikely to be palatable to Israel or its supporters on Capitol Hill.
And Tuesday, Obama is scheduled to speak at a U.N. session on climate change, an area in which his administration stumbled diplomatically early in his presidency and has since struggled to craft meaningful policies that can pass muster with Congress.
On Wednesday, the president delivers his main speech to the General Assembly before leading the Security Council meeting on the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. He’ll also host an event on open government before he wraps up his visit on Thursday with a high-level meeting on the Ebola epidemic.
This will be the second time Barack Obama assumes the role of king of the Security Council. No other American president has done this. Its as if Barack Obama does not want to be the American president anymore and has moved on to run the United Nations world. Obama should resign and move on to his new job at the East River.
With his new offensive against Islamic State terrorists in Syria, Barack Obama has a chance to revive his presidency, but the only way he can do that is to become a brand-new president, one who will be almost unrecognizable to his supporters. Obama must go from being the president who was elected to end wars—his most treasured self-image—to the president who finally leads one effectively. [snip]
For Barack Obama, what is happening now no longer falls into the category of cleaning up old wars. This is no longer the war of the Afghan “surge,” which was mainly intended to end a war that was already underway. Or Obama’s aggressive policy of launching covert drone strikes and special operations missions against al Qaeda and its affiliates. This is a wholly new war, Obama’s very own, and it is out in the open.
Even if the skeptics are right and the airstrikes prove insufficient to diminish the threat from ISIS the subsequent dispatch of American forces to do a time-limited job of clearing out the bad guys is likely to stir even more patriotic fervor.
The president’s leadership role during this fight has the potential to pump up his public approval and that will benefit several Democrats locked in close senate races. [snip]
An upswing in the president’s approval rating as the nation gets in line behind the commander-in-chief could tip the outcome of a political fight now based on voter turnout and last minute advertising.
The left on Obama’s War is the neo-cons they deplored when it was “Bush’s War”
Next up? Boots. More lies and broken promises by Barack Obama are next. Boots. Boots on the ground. Production for use. Boots.
Update II: MoonOnPluto in the comments section provides coverage of the Hillary appearance on CNN. As to the Fox News interview Hillary did very well. Hillary planted a lot of time bombs against Obama in these interviews (for example calling for more investigations of the IRS scandal). Without naming Sarah Palin while answering a question about Sarah Palin, Hillary shows some sister solidarity. She also attacks age based discrimination from Obama White House dudes against Ambassador Holbrook. Here’s Part I of the interview which is mostly about Benghazi and Bergdahl:
Update: Hillary Clinton on a CNN “townhall” at 5:00 EDT is sure to be asked about the news that is breaking: US captures first suspect in Benghazi attack. CNN’s “townhall” is bound to be boring. There will be questions CNN will feel they have to ask and they will ask them. But to get a sense of what CNN really wants to dish about listen to the questions they choose “from the public”.
The real show will be tonight on Fox News when two, real, tough, fair and balanced journalists (brutal Bret Baier at 6; mighty Greta Van Susteren at 7) question the unsinkable Hillary. Fox News is Ready for Hillary. Hillary better be ready for Fox News.
It’s fun to watch Hillary Clinton lead Republicans/conservatives and leftist haters down the garden path. The Hillary Clinton book tour is underway.
The reviews of Hillary Clinton book tour week one (and now week two) are in and they foolishly proclaim the whole ordeal to be a disaster. Those that lack the courage to attack Hillary directly take a dive and proclaim the book ‘a bore without news’. The left denounces Hillary as not sufficiently Obama level crazy. Republican/conservatives miss the point entirely.
Well not all Republican/conservatives. Sarah Palin and Matt Drudge showed Republicans/conservatives how to utilize the Hillary Clinton book tour to their advantage. But instead of following Sarah Palin and Matt Drudge’s lead most Republican/conservatives took a u-turn into futility.
What did Sarah Palin and Matt Drudge do? Last week, underneath a picture of a pig nasty Barack Obama observed by a serious Hillary Clinton, Matt Drudge blasted this headline: ‘SEXISM’ IN ’08
In her new memoir, “Hard Choices,” Clinton wrote that she rejected a request from the Obama campaign to attack Sarah Palin, who was then running for vice president.
“That very first day, the Obama campaign said, ‘Well, we want you to go out there and criticize her,’ and I said ‘For what? For being a woman? No, let’s wait until we know where she stands, I don’t know anything about her. Do you know anything about her?’” Clinton said she told the Obama campaign.
In response to Clinton’s revelation, Palin tweeted: “Look who fired the 1st shot on the real ‘war on women.’ Hint: it wasn’t the GOP. See this excerpt from Hillary’s book,” accompanied by a picture of “Hard Choices.”
A senior Obama campaign official said that the request for Clinton to speak was tailored specifically to Palin’s speech after McCain picked her as his running mate, in which she made a direct pitch for Clinton supporters.
Notice, Hillary Clinton’s truth-telling gave Republicans a way to repudiate the Obama “war on women” attack against Republicans. The Obama henchmen saw the danger to their 2014 hopes and tried to limit the damage Hillary Clinton inflicted on them. To this day Hillary Clinton repeats the charge every time she is asked possibly because Hillary knows that if any leftist can be found to run against her in 2016 the sexism and misogyny of 2008 will return full force against her. Only Sarah Palin took advantage of this new weaponry.
Why did Hillary do this? Aside from a potential leftist candidate running against her using sexism as a not wo veiled weapon, Hillary takes seriously her commitment to women’s rights and wants to let out a bit of the truth of what happened in 2008. A lot of purist know-nothings that supported her in 2008 are angry that Hillary did not “speak out” at the time about the Obama sexist attacks on Sarah Palin. But we all knew and it was remarked at the time that Hillary Clinton never attacked Sarah Palin.
Lots of political “observers” waited in vain for Hillary to drop a bomb on Sarah Palin in 2008 but that never happened. The purist know-nothings wanted Hillary, remember she was at that point smeared as a “racist” and has-been by Obama thugs and Big Media, to say something against the Obama campaign that Obama Big Media would discount as “sore loser talk”. Instead Hillary managed to block, at least for a while the hate driven misogynistic and sexist attacks against Sarah Palin.
All this Sarah Palin understands and that is why she began to tweet. The “war on women” strategic lie which has so profited Obama Dimocrats could be undermined and Sarah Palin went for it. If Palin dared, she would send Hillary a very public thank you and ask for a meeting to discuss Obama sexism and how to fight politically motivated misogyny.
Palin and Drudge showed the way. Instead of taking a lead from Sarah Palin and Matt Drudge the blood ran hot on one too many Republicans/conservatives who chose to refight fights they have lost, lose and will continue to lose.
So what did Republican/conservatives do instead of investing time and publicity on this potentially game changing gift from Hillary? They went for broke.
It was sad. Republicans/conservatives and the leftist loons mocked Hillary saying that she and Bill were broke and in debt when they left the White House. What Hillary said is a fact and historically accurate. Further, other than feeding a need for mockery it gains Republicans/conservatives nothing. The Hillary hating left does not gain anything from this either.
Hillary and Bill left the White House broke and in debt because of all the futile panty sniffing investigations brought about by Republicans forced them to hire lawyers and get into debt. The public still has not forgotten nor forgiven Republicans/conservatives for such panty sniffing stupidity so Republicans/conservatives are doing their best to remind the public of their panty sniffing stupidity and how they are not to be trusted with the investigative tools of government.
Hells Bells, Kenneth Starr the sniveling panty sniffing inquisitor has admitted he made a mistake in his panty sniffing pursuits. Richard Mellon Scaife and his right hand man Christopher Ruddy – the top Hillary and Bill Clinton tormentors of the 90s – are now Hillary and Bill Clinton friends and even contributed to Hillary Clinton 2008. David Brock the top Clinton tormentor now is in the Clinton camp too.
But old habits die hard and instead of helping themselves by undermining the “war on women” hogwash Republicans/conservatives undermine themselves. The self described “morons and moronettes” at Ace of Spades are featuring frequent comments in many articles about Hillary requiring a walker to prop herself for a People magazine cover photo. This all comes from a moronic article at Washington Free Beacon alleging that Hillary was using a walker. More and more stories came out about doddering ol’ Hillary and the walker. This from a party that twice nominated for vice president a guy with many heart attacks.
The morons and moronettes at Ace of Spades are having fun and using some clever mockery of Hillary photos to pleasure themselves. We get it. It’s often fun to poke fun and laugh at your opponents and that is what Ace of Spades is engaged in even while trying to keep alive a narrative of Hillary being too old and feeble to be president. It’s a waste of time but we can see the fun of having fun. It will eventually come back to haunt them when sexist pigs fighting for survival in 2014 attack them as waging a “war on women”.
Tommy Vietor and the misogynist sexist dudes of Obama 2008 will clutch their pearls at those dastard Republican/conservatives who are saying such mean things about Hillary even though they are the ones who began the “war on women” and hate Hillary more than any Republican/conservative.
Smart Republican/conservatives should be inoculating themselves and their political interests by talking nonstop about nasty sexist misogynist Barack Obama. Hey we wrote about that long ago. But somehow they just can’t help it.
As foolish and emotion driven as Republicans are, the left is much worse. Take for example the Hillary interview at NPR. We’ll just copy from our comments section:
Hillary haters think this interview on gay marriage somehow hurts Hillary. But this is the tough Hillary we like. Hillary is right on the facts and the leftist interviewer is one of those “liberals” who ignores reality. Bill Clinton signed DOMA because it was the best strategy to stop a constitutional amendment against gay marriage proposed by Democrats such as Sam Nunn. It’s great to listen to Hillary call her out:
HILLARY CLINTON: “I think you’re reading it very wrong. I think that, as I said – just as the President has said – just because you’re a politician doesn’t mean you’re not a thinking human being. You gather information, you think through positions, you’re not one hundred percent set, thank goodness, you’re constantly re-evaluating where you stand. That is true for me. We talked earlier about Iraq, for goodness sakes. So for me, marriage has always been a matter left to the states and in many of the conversations I and my colleagues and supporters had, I fully endorse the efforts by activists to work state-by-state. In fact, that is what is working and I think that being in the position that I was in the Senate, fighting employment discrimination which we still have some ways to go, was appropriate at that time. As Secretary of State, I was out of domestic politics and I was certainly doing all I could on the international scene to raise the importance of the human rights of the LGBT community. And then leaving that position, I was able to very quickly announce that I was fully in support of gay marriage and that it is now continuing to proceed state-by-state. I am very hopeful that we will make progress and see even more change and acceptance. One of my big problems right now is that too many people believe they have a direct line to the divine and they never want to change their mind about anything. They’re never open about new information and they like to operate in an evidence-free zone. I think it’s good if people continue to change.”
GROSS: “So you mention that you believe in state by state for gay marriage. But it’s a Supreme Court too. The Supreme Court struck down part of DOMA, the Defense of Marriage Act, which prevented the federal government from recognizing gay marriage. That part is now struck down. And DOMA was actually signed by your husband when he was president. In spite of the fact that he signed it, were you glad at this point that the Supreme Court struck some of it down?”
CLINTON: “Of course. And you know, again, lets…we are living at a time when this extraordinary change is occurring and I’m proud of our country, I’m proud of the people who have been on the front lines of advocacy, but in 1993, that was not the case. And there was a very concerted effort in the Congress to make it even more difficult and greater discrimination and what DOMA did is at least allow the States to act. It wasn’t going to yet be recognized by the federal government but at the state level there was the opportunity. And my husband was the first to say, that you know, the political circumstances, the threats that were trying to be alleviated by the passage of DOMA, thankfully, were no longer so preeminent and we could keep moving forward and that’s what we’re doing.”
GROSS: “So, just to clarify, just one more question on this, would you say your view evolved since the 90s or that the American public evolved allowing you to state your real view.”
CLINTON: “I think I’m an American, I think that we have all evolved, and it’s been one of the fastest, most sweeping transformations that I’m aware of.”
GROSS: “I understand but a lot of people believed in it already back in the nineties. They supported gay marriage.”
CLINTON: “To be fair Terry, not that many. Were there activists who were ahead of their time, well that was every true in every human rights and civil rights movement but the vast majority of Americans, were just waking up to this issue, and beginning to think about it, and grasp it for the first time, and think about their neighbor down the street who deserved to have the same rights as they did, or their son, or their daughter. It has been an extraordinarily fast, by historic terms social, political and legal transformation and we ought to celebrate that instead of plowing old ground when in fact a lot of people, the vast majority of people, have been moving forward. Maybe slowly, maybe tentatively, maybe not as quickly and extensively as many would have hoped but nevertheless, we are at a point now where equality, including marriage equality, in our country is solidly established although there where be places, Texas just to name one, where that is still going to be an ongoing struggle.”
GROSS: “I’m pretty sure you didn’t answer my question about whether you evolved or was the America public the change –”
CLINTON: “Because I said I’m an American so of course we all evolved and I think that’s a fair conclusion –”
GROSS: “So you’re saying your opinion on gay marriage changed”
CLINTON: “You know, somebody is always first, Terry. Somebody is always out front and thank goodness they are. But that doesn’t mean that those who join later, in being publically supportive or even privately accepting that there needs to be change, are any less committed. You could not be having the sweep of marriage equality across the country if nobody changed their mind and thank goodness so many of us have.”
GROSS: “So that’s one for you changed your mind?”
CLINTON: You know I really, I have to say, I think you being very persistent, but you are playing with my words and playing with what is such an important issue.”
GROSS: “I’m just trying to clarify so I can understand -”
CLINTON: “No, I don’t think you are trying to clarify. I think you are trying to say that I used to be opposed and now I am in favor and I did it for political reasons. And that’s just flat wrong. So let me just state what I feel like I think you are implying and repudiate it. I have a strong record. I have a great commitment to this issue and I am proud of what I’ve done and the progress were making.”
GROSS: “You know I’m just saying, I’m sorry – I just want to clarify what I was saying – no, I was saying that you maybe really believed this all along, but, you know believed in gay marriage all along, but felt for political reasons America wasn’t ready yet and you couldn’t say it. That’s what I was thinking.”
CLINTON: “No. That is not true.”
CLINTON: “I did not grow up even imagining gay marriage and I don’t think you did either. This was an incredible new and important idea that people on the front lines of the gay right movement began to talk about and slowly, but surely, convinced others about the rightness of that position. When I was ready to say what I said, I said it.”
GROSS: “Okay, thank you for clarifying that.” (National Public Radio, “Fresh Air,” 6/12/14)
Leftist loons will attack Hillary for all the above. But Hillary is passionately stating the historical truth. The looney DailyKooks left will join Republicans/conservatives in attacking Hillary even on silliness such as this.
On Syria, her early support for air strikes revived liberal concern about her self-described “bias towards action,” recalling her vote for the Iraq War in 2002 that stymied her last presidential ambitions. She recently apologized for the vote in her new book.
Now on Iraq, she finds herself in a familiar and uncomfortable position between a war-weary Democratic Party on one side and hawkish Republicans eager to paint her as weak on the other. She’s tried to thread this needle before and it didn’t work well.
“The current crisis in Iraq is a reminder of the dangers Hillary Clinton faces with the Democratic base,” said Stephen Miles of the progressive group Win without War. “Today, with the threat of military action once again on the table in Iraq, … we’ll be looking to see if her recent denunciation of her 2002 vote for the Iraq War represents a true change of heart or was simply an effort to rewrite history in advance of a 2016 run.” [snip]
“A policy of weakness and accommodation that came from the Obama and Hillary Clinton team is one that’s led to very serious and negative results,” said Mitt Romney, the GOP’s 2012 presidential nominee, on Fox News. “There’s almost not a place in the world that’s better off because of [Clinton’s] leadership in the State Department.” [snip]
Some analysts predicted al-Maliki’s crackdown on the Sunni minority in the country would revive a dormant insurgency, but on Thursday, speaking at the Council on Foreign Relations, Clinton said the insurgents’ success was unforeseeable. “I could not have predicted, however, the extent to which ISIS could be effective in seizing cities in Iraq and trying to erase boundaries to create an Islamic state. That’s why it’s a wicked problem,” she said.
Voters will have to debate that one, to determine if it’s a satisfactory answer for someone who likely wants to be commander in chief.
ISIS’s rise in Iraq may have no American policy solution, and for Clinton, that makes it an equally “wicked” problem politically.
Now that the spotlight has shifted to Iraq, the decision by the Obama administration not to arm moderate Syrian rebels at the outset is coming under scrutiny by critics who say the hands-off policy allowed the extremists to flourish.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who argued in favor of arming Syrian rebels, said last week at an event in New York hosted by the Council on Foreign Relations, “this is not just a Syrian problem anymore. I never thought it was just a Syrian problem. I thought it was a regional problem. I could not have predicted, however, the extent to which ISIS could be effective in seizing cities in Iraq and trying to erase boundaries to create an Islamic state.”
Gee, Hillary Clinton sure sounds smart and on the job when you read the entire quote. Hillary saw that this was a regional problem not just about one country. Wow, way to go girl.
Sure, the leftist loons at DailyKooks won’t be happy ever with her. But she sure sounds as if she knows what she is talking about. Mitt Romney’s comments sound kinda stupid when you read the full quote.
In a different move that now looks more prescient, she in August of 2007 called on the Iraqi Parliament to replace al-Maliki with “a less divisive and more unifying figure,” prompting an angry response from the leader.
Now, her response to the situation in the country is dependent on the man who wielded her Iraq policy against her six years ago. As a Democrat and one of Obama’s top foreign-policy officials, the strength of her foreign policy record—and by extension, her raison d’etre for a White House bid—rides on the success of Obama’s.
Read that last line and you will understand why Hillary Clinton has to begin a protracted attack against Barack Obama and his failed policies. The left will hate her and the right will be confused, but that is what Hillary must do.
