News From The Rialto: #POTUS @RealDonaldTrump’s Nexus Issue

One issue is THE issue for President Donald J. Trump. All roads lead to and from this one issue. Drain the Swamp? This issue. Women’s rights? This issue. The economy? This issue. Crime? This issue. Terrorism? This issue. Obama Dimocrats? This issue. White working class? This issue. Minority voters? This issue. GOP establishment? This issue. Congressional redistricting? This issue. The 2020 Census? This issue. Judicial overreach? This issue. Foreign policy? This issue. Domestic policy? This issue. Big Media? This issue. Rule of law? This issue. Gun control? This issue. Healthcare? This issue. Education? This issue. Federalism? This issue. Supreme Court? This issue. The Wall? This issue. Barack Obama? This issue. Hillary Clinton? This issue. The DNC? This issue. California DailyKooks? This issue. Opioid crisis? This issue. Russia distractions? This issue. 2018 elections? This issue. 2020 presidential election? This issue. And so on and so forth.

Can you deduce what this nexus issue is? We’ll give you a few moments to consider the question as we take a stroll down memory lane. After memory lane, we’ll return with the answer.

* * * * * *

Years ago we were in Venice, Italy. We were invited to a cocktail party. We dressed to the nines to match the swells attending this very exclusive, small, cocktail party. The faboo party was in a massive palazzo. In the lobby of the palazzo there was a gondola for decoration. It was a truly fabulous party.

At the party in the palazzo we all sipped fine wines and giggled as the very tall and big Count Hubert James Marcel Taffin de Givenchy sat down in a chair which was hundreds of years old – and broke it. Hubert was not only a big fashion designer, he was a very big man. After his destruction of the antique chair we spoke with Givenchy about Audrey Hepburn, the clothes he designed for her, and the making of the movie Funny Face which he designed clothes for. We told him an amusing anecdote about Audrey and himself.

Givenchy regaled us with tales of rich people he knew (the Mellons) and described unbelievable wealth. Those are stories best left for another day. The host of the party, to amplify on what massive wealth is as compared to mere wealth, guided us up the stairs to the gargantuan full floor apartment above and there we saw, through a thirty foot brass grill on glass doors, into the apartment of a family that resided there for hundreds of years. The chandeliers in that apartment were town car sized. Gorgeous.

As we returned to the cocktail party we looked out through the windows and there saw the first or second most famous bridge in Venice, which was directly adjacent to the cocktail party.

* * * * * *

So what is that nexus issue for President Trump?

It’s immigration. Immigration – legal, illegal, it’s the nexus issue. It’s also the issue candidate Donald J. Trump highlighted during the primary elections and the general election. Immigration is the nexus issue!

That party in Venice we attended with Givenchy? First, Funny Face, the movie he designed for, takes place in Paris and of course the House of Givenchy is based in Paris. We wonder these days what Givenchy would say to the news that a wall will be built around the Eiffel Tower to protect it from terrorists? The bridge we crossed to get to our cocktail party? The Rialto Bridge.

William Shakespeare in The Merchant of Venice highlighted the Rialto’s central role for news distribution in old Venice and wrote for his character Solanio the lines, Now, what news on the Rialto?

Pam Geller answers that question several hundred years later – VENICE TERROR: Trio of Muslims from KOSOVO arrested over jihad plot to bomb famous Rialto Bridge.

We take this particular terrorist news as almost a personal affront especially as we view the palazzo we once partied in on tourist videos. The Express has the details:

Three people from Kosovo, who are said to be Islamic State (ISIS) sympathisers, were arrested on suspicion of operating a jihadist cell that had discussed the Rialto Bridge attack.

Venice’s chief prosecutor Adelchi D’Ippolito said the suspects had celebrated the Westminster attack in London which saw Khalid Masood kill four people and injure up to 50 others on March 22. [snip]

All suspects lived in the historic centre of Venice and had papers allowing them to live legally in Italy. [snip]

Police also carried out 10 raids overnight in Venice, one in the neighbouring town of Mestre and one in nearby Treviso.

That’s the news for the entire world, from the Rialto.

Immigration is the nexus issue! That’s the news from the Rialto.

California and the Trumpian battle over sanctuary cities? Immigration is the nexus issue.

Brexit? Immigration is the nexus issue.

Immigration is the nexus issue in our latest Civil War too.

The fight on the filibuster and Justice Gorsuch confirmation also revolves around immigration.

ObamaCare repeal and replace? Illegal immigration is a big component of that fight.

Goofball Paul Ryan and the GOP establishment against President Trump? They don’t like President Trump’s position on immigration. They will try to fight President Trump funding for the Wall and on immigration issues.

A large chunk of Big Media hatred of President Trump is due to his immigration policies on legal and illegal immigration.

Women’s rights versus the clit cutters? Immigration, obviously.

You can’t fix the American economy without addressing illegal immigration and the effect on wages which harm the white working class and minorities legally here. Can President Trump will minority voters? Yeah, because of the illegal immigration issue, and that does have Big Media worried.

Want to Drain the Swamp? The Swamp wants illegal immigration and higher rates of legal immigration and the swamp will fight back. The economy? You can’t run the economy and Make America Great Again without addressing H1B1 visas, illegal immigration, legal immigration and its effects on wages.

Obama Dimocrats, Hillary, Barack? They will use immigration and illegal immigration to attack President Trump. Crime? How many crimes are committed by illegal immigrants which pour through our still insecure southern border? Terrorism? Go to the Rialto and understand that legal immigration too is a problem on this issue as Muslim terrorists come in foreign and domestic varieties.

After the 2020 elections there will be a census. That census will lead to congressional redistricting. Obama Dimocrats and Barack Obama himself want to defeat Donald Trump so that Obama Dimocrats can import an electorate that will elect them. Defeat President Trump in 2018 or 2020 and the Obama Dimocrats will win on their nexus issue – immigration.

The foreign policy challenges which drive much of the populism sweeping through Europe? Immigration is a lead cause for resistance against President Trump in much of the establishment in Europe and the EU.

The opioid crisis? It often starts with legally prescribed drugs then degenerates into heroin brought in through the southern border from China and domestically grown in the southern hemisphere.

Gun control? The left is against gun ownership except if an illegal immigrant kills someone in a sanctuary city.

Budgets for education? Massive legal and mostly illegal immigration are wreaking school budgets and warping pedagogic philosophy. No longer do American schools celebrate English and teach it. Now the “cultural diversity” arguments have twisted the educational establishment into near anti-English schemes. Want to wear a flag or celebrate American history and culture? The left propagandizes that is xenophobia and race hatred. President Trump stands athwart the educational establishment here too.

All that Russia nonsense? It is a distraction. Don’t be distracted. The Russia nonsense is an attempt to prevent President Trump progress on immigration policies he favors.

The Wall proposed by President Trump? Obviously, illegal immigration. Drugs. Crime. Nexus issue is immigration.

The pure distillation of the immigration battle? The news from the Rialto:

A federal judge in Hawaii on Wednesday extended his previous ruling blocking President Donald Trump’s so-called “travel ban” that would have restricted entry to the United States by refugees and people from some predominantly Muslim countries.

U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson granted a motion by the state to turn his temporary restraining order blocking Trump’s revised executive order into a preliminary injunction. The move extends the ban on enforcement while the case moves forward.

The government also sought to have the judge limit the injunction to just the issue of visas from six predominantly Muslim nations, and not on a 120-day hold on refugees, but the judge declined to do so and that part of Trump’s order remains blocked.

The case will move forward.

The nexus of issues on immigration can best be seen from examination of this news.

This judge from Hawaii is clearly engaged in judicial overreach. This fool and the 9th Circuit seek to overthrow constitutional order.

With this judicial overreach we see the questions of the rule of law come to the fore. We see federalism and the supremacy of the federal government on immigration matters come into question. We see some very interesting possibilities We see the… well, the Supreme Court.

At some point this bit of judicial overreach will reach the Supreme Court. As we predicted, the Senate Judiciary Committee will vote on the Gorsuch nomination on Monday, April 3, and on Friday there will be a full U.S. Senate vote which will create Justice Gorsuch.

With Justice Gorsuch on the Supreme Court the rule of law will be restored. The issue of immigration, legal and illegal, will be settled one way or the other. We believe President Trump and his executive orders will prevail.

But just the confirmation of Justice Gorsuch will be a devastating defeat for Obama Dimocrats and a great triumph for President Trump. Could the confirmation of Justice Gorsuch be defeated? Glory, Glory, Hallelujah – NO, that train has left the station:

Unlike past institutional crises, there’s no bipartisan “gang” stepping up to force a truce between the warring armies led by Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer. Acrimony between the two parties has become so routine that invoking the so-called nuclear option to get Neil Gorsuch confirmed to the Supreme Court is almost a ho-hum affair, assumed to be a done deal.

“The Senate has changed,” said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who’s fought rules changes in the past. “You can’t do what we used to do, what I did in the past. There’s too much ill will.”

Senator McCain was the last hope for Minority leader Schmuck Schemer and his band of clowns. Schemer thought he could sway the NeverTrump McCain to block an end to the filibuster. But as we wrote, glory, glory, Hallelujah the Obama Dimocrats have fallen into a brilliant trap of their own making. Even the dumbass McCaskill sees the trap we’ve described:

McCaskill warns Democratic donors of pitfalls of blocking Trump nominee for high court

Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri warned Democratic donors that blocking President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee could have dire consequences, according to audio obtained by The Star. [snip]

McCaskill told the fundraiser’s attendees that blocking Gorsuch could result in someone worse being appointed to the court in the future, according to the audio. [snip]

So they move it to 51 votes and they confirm either Gorsuch or they confirm the one after Gorsuch,” she continued. “They go on the Supreme Court and then, God forbid, Ruth Bader Ginsburg dies, or (Anthony) Kennedy retires or (Stephen) Breyer has a stroke or is no longer able to serve. Then we’re not talking about Scalia for Scalia, which is what Gorsuch is, we’re talking about Scalia for somebody on the court who shares our values. And then all of a sudden the things I fought for with scars on my back to show for it in this state are in jeopardy.”

McCaskill might be waking up to reality. The Obama Dimocrat left has not fully processed the immeasurable vastness of the Trump triumph. They will have to deal with that immeasurable vastness soon.

With Gorsuch on the court Alito and Thomas might have a new ally on apportionment issues for state legislatures. Voter ID laws? Um, Gorsuch might be the final victory in that battle.

The Obama Dimocrat left spent half of 2015 laughing at Donald J. Trump. The Obama Dimocrat left and Big Media laughed throughout most of 2016 at the thought Donald J. Trump thought he could win the election.

The Obama Dimocrat left, weeks before the election in November 2016, laughed at the notion that Donald J. Trump could ever be president. The Obama Dimocrat left on election day and up to 9:00 p.m. of election night, as the votes came in, laughed at the notion that Donald J. Trump could ever be President. Then, President Elect TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same now. The Obama Dimocrat left #ResistReality clowns believe they will beat President Trump. They #ResistReality as Salena Zito has explained.

Immigration is a big reason for President Donald J. Trump. Immigration is the nexus issue. That’s the news on the Rialto.

EU could BREAK UP the US: Juncker in jaw-dropping threat to Trump over support for Brexit

EUROPEAN Union boss Jean-Claude Juncker this afternoon issued a jaw-dropping threat to the United States, saying he could campaign to break up the country in revenge for Donald Trump’s supportive comments about Brexit.

In an extraordinary speech the EU Commission president said he would push for Ohio and Texas to split from the rest of America if the Republican president does not change his tune and become more supportive of the EU.

The remarks are diplomatic dynamite at a time when relations between Washington and Brussels are already strained over Europe’s meagre contributions to NATO and the US leader’s open preference for dealing with national governments.

They are by far the most outspoken intervention any senior EU figure has made about Mr Trump and are likely to dismay some European leaders who were hoping to seek a policy of rapprochement with their most important ally.

Speaking at the centre-right European People Party’s (EPP) annual conference in Malta this afternoon, the EU Commission boss did not hold back in his disdain for the White House chief’s eurosceptic views.

He said: “Brexit isn’t the end. A lot of people would like it that way, even people on another continent where the newly elected US President was happy that the Brexit was taking place and has asked other countries to do the same.

“If he goes on like that I am going to promote the independence of Ohio and Austin, Texas in the US.”

Mr Juncker’s comments did not appear to be made in jest and were delivered in a serious tone, although one journalist did report some “chuckles” in the audience and hinted the EU boss may have been joking. The remarks came in the middle of an angry speech in which the top eurocrat railed widely against critics of the EU Commission.

They will be seen as totally inexplicable at a time when EU-US relations appeared to be on the mend, with Vice-President Mike Pence having completed a largely successful trip to Brussels and the commander-in-chief himself significantly softening his tone towards the EU project.

Mr Juncker did not criticise Britain at all during his speech, and only made reference to Brexit in relation to Mr Trump and the opportunities it presents for Europe to reform itself.

    Ohio? Texas? Won’t happen.

Try California dummy. That would secure GOP control of the U.S. forever.

It’s like Scotland leaving Great Britain. It would secure conservative government of G.B. forever.

  2. This song is kinda required for a Rialto reference article.

Cole Porter song from Kiss Me Kate (based on Taming of the Shrew by you know who).

Where is Venetia, who loved to chat so?
Could still she be drinking in her stinking pink palazzo?
And lovely Lisa, where are you Lisa?
You gave a new meaning to the Leaning Tower of Piza

  3. Old Europe, Admin.

    Old Europe.

    World War II wounded it.

But the cure for world war II finished it off.

In the words of Don Quixote de la Mancha:

May the cure be not worse than the disease.

Globalists argue that nationalism was the cause.

Therefore they set out on a course to obliterate the nation state.

David Rockefeller and the Rothschildes were the architects of that transition.

And today’s Wall Street Journal records the fact that here and other places.

The globalists who sought to create a world without borders

Where goods, capital and services could pass without constraint

Where national populations would be submerged in a steady stream of foreigners

Where ideologies like Sharia Law masquerading as religion could eat the host country.

Where the rule of national law means nothing.

And where national identity would fade into the pale irony of the void.

For some time now, western civiliation has been caught between two worlds

    One dead.

The other powerless to be born.

The rise of Trump signals a return to the status quo ante, for those who are able to read between the lines.

And for those who cannot, there is that article in today’s WSJ, front page, below the fold

It talks about the long withdrawing roar of the tide of globalism.

What that will leave in its wake however is anyone’s guess.

For these and other reasons, immigration is the issue.

In his carefully calibrated testimony before House appropriators, Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price made one thing clear Wednesday: The administration is still intent on dismantling parts of the Affordable Care Act even if Republicans lack the votes to rewrite it. [snip]

“You do have the ability to make regulatory changes that would dramatically lower the cost of insurance for Americans?” asked Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.).

Fourteen hundred and forty-two times the ACA said ‘the secretary shall’ or ‘the secretary may,’ ” Price replied.

    Phase II still on track.

  5. Ann Coulter’s health care proposal:

    March 29, 2017

It’s always impossible to repeal laws that require Ann to pay for greedy people, because the greedy run out on the streets wailing that the Republicans are murdering them.

Obamacare is uniquely awful because the free stuff isn’t paid for through income taxes: It’s paid for through MY health insurance premiums. This is unfortunate because I wanted to buy health insurance.

Perhaps you’re not aware — SINCE YOU EXEMPTED YOURSELVES FROM OBAMACARE, CONGRESS — but buying or selling health insurance is illegal in America.

Right now, there’s no free market because insurance is insanely regulated not only by Obamacare, but also by the most corrupt organizations in America: state insurance commissions. (I’m talking to you, New York!)

Federal and state laws make it illegal to sell health insurance that doesn’t cover a laughable array of supposedly vital services based on bureaucrats’ medical opinions of which providers have the best lobbyists.

As a result, it’s illegal to sell health insurance that covers any of the medical problems I’d like to insure against. Why can’t the GOP keep Obamacare for the greedy — but make it legal for Ann to buy health insurance?

This is how it works today:

ME: I’m perfectly healthy, but I’d like to buy health insurance for heart disease, broken bones, cancer, and everything else that a normal person would ever need, but no more.

INSURANCE COMPANY: That will be $700 a month, the deductible is $35,000, no decent hospital will take it, and you have to pay for doctor’s visits yourself. But your plan covers shrinks, infertility treatments, sex change operations, autism spectrum disorder treatment, drug rehab and 67 other things you will never need.

INSURANCE COMPANY UNDER ANN’S PLAN: That will be $50 a month, the deductible is $1,000, you can see any doctor you’d like, and you have full coverage for any important medical problems you could conceivably have in a million years.

Mine is a two-step plan (and you don’t have to do the second step, so it’s really a one-step plan).

STEP 1: Congress doesn’t repeal Obamacare! Instead, Congress passes a law, pursuant to its constitutional power to regulate interstate commerce, that says: “In America, it shall be legal to sell health insurance on the free market. This law supersedes all other laws, taxes, mandates, coverage requirements, regulations or prohibitions, state or federal.”

    The end. Love, Ann.

There will be no whining single mothers storming Congress with their pre-printed placards. People who want to stay on Obamacare can. No one is taking away anything. They can still have health insurance with free pony rides. It just won’t be paid for with Ann’s premiums anymore, because Ann will now be allowed to buy health insurance on the free market.

Americans will be free to choose among a variety of health insurance plans offered by willing sellers, competing with one another to provide the best plans at the lowest price. A nationwide market in health insurance will drive down costs and improve access — just like everything else we buy here in America!

Within a year, most Americans will be buying health insurance on the free market (and half of the rest will be illegal aliens). We’ll have TV ads with cute little geckos hawking amazing plans and young couples bragging about their broad coverage and great prices from this or that insurance company.

The Obamacare plans will still have the “essential benefits” (free pony rides) that are so important to NPR’s Mara Liasson, but the free market plans will have whatever plans consumers agree to buy and insurance companies agree to sell — again, just like every other product we buy here in America.

Some free market plans will offer all the “essential benefits” mandated by Obamacare, but the difference will be: Instead of forcing me to pay a premium that covers Mara Liasson’s special needs, she’ll have to pay for that coverage herself.

I won’t be compelled to buy health insurance that covers everyone else’s gambling addiction, drug rehab, pregnancies, marital counseling, social workers, contact lenses and rotten kids — simply to have insurance for what doctors call “serious medical problems.”

Then, we’ll see how many people really need free health care.

Until the welfare program is decoupled from the insurance market, nothing will work. Otherwise, it’s like forcing grocery stores to pay for everyone to have a house. A carton of milk would suddenly cost $10,000.

That’s what Obamacare did to health insurance. Paul Ryan’s solution was to cut taxes on businesses — and make the milk watery. But he still wouldn’t allow milk to be sold on the free market.

Democrats will be in the position of blocking American companies from selling a product that people want to buy. How will they explain that to voters?

Perhaps Democrats will come out and admit that they need to fund health insurance for the poor by forcing middle-class Americans to pay for it through their insurance premiums — because otherwise, they’d have to raise taxes, and they want to keep their Wall Street buddies’ income taxes low.

    Good luck with that!

STEP 2: Next year, Congress formulates a better way of delivering health care to the welfare cases, which will be much easier since there will be a LOT fewer of them.

No actual money-making business is going to survive by taking the welfare cases — the ones that will cover illegal aliens and Mara Liasson’s talk therapy — so the greedy will get government plans.

But by then, only a minority of Americans will be on the “free” plans. (Incidentally, this will be a huge money-saver — if anyone cares about the federal budget.) Eighty percent of Americans will already have good health plans sold to them by insurance companies competing for their business.

With cheap plans available, a lot of the greedy will go ahead and buy a free market plan. Who wants to stand in line at the DMV to see a doctor when your neighbors have great health care plans for $50 a month?

We will have separated the truly unfortunate from the loudmouthed bullies who simply enjoy forcing other people to pay for their shrinks and aromatherapy.

And if the Democrats vote against a sane method of delivering health care to the welfare cases, who cares? We have lots of wasteful government programs — take it out of Lockheed Martin’s contract. But at least the government won’t be depriving the rest of us of a crucial product just because we are middle class and the Democrats hate us.

There’s your health care bill, GOP!

  6. Admin: take a look at this. Its Morris putting all the pieces together. What we learn from this, among other things, is that the FBI used taxpayer funds to dig up dirt on Trump both during the primary and after he became president. The FBI paid Christopher Steele–the former British intelligence agent who produced the golden showers fiction, to dig up additional dirt of this nature on president elect Trump. No wonder Comey has twisted himself into a pretzel over what he will and will not disclose. He is as much of a villain as Brennan and Clapper. Big media treats him like an honest public servant, but in fact he is exactly what I have said he is over and over again: a dirty cop. And, worse than that, a seditionist.

  7. Interesting, I’m in Washington DC right now and I was just having a conversation with someone about mere wealth and real wealth. All the big Lobbyists I saw running around, the 200,000 dollar cars, the buildings owned for lobbying such as the Pharmaceutical Industry right up the street from the WH along with the AFL, etc….money makes the world go around, the world go around, the world go around…but not for you and me!
Living in Austin Texas, which makes me chuckle that ANYONE would seriously think Texas would leave the Union and join the EU, or was it just leave, anyway, he knows nothing of Texans. Just like a left wing nut, if it isn’t a major city on the West or East coast, blinders. We don’t exist, well apparently they know of Sanctuary city Austin because of our crazy Sheriff and Conservative Gov Abbott…

On another note, saw the Presidential motorcade today! It was awesome…

Congratulations, I often don’t tackle certain projects because I don’t want to buy tools I don’t need,, I guess you can rent them, or some, but your right, we need to face of fears and take a step away.

  8. Thank you noobama and gonzotx…

I was lucky…and could hardly believe that a friend of a friend of mine lent her his wet saw for me to use

    Quite an adventure for me…

    Hmmm..what’s next?

  9. S, its NoMoBama, as the admin likes to point out at times. Think “no more Obama… No mo’ Obama.”

  10. The Lobbyists and like, with all their glitter and gold that goes with it, that to me was mere wealth, not the real wealth that makes billionaires look like paupers.

By the way, if you were of Middle Eastern descent, you would feel very comfortable in DC or Georgetown, so many hijabs it was mind blowing.
    Quite the presence.

By the way, Trumps hotel in DC on Pennsylvania ave is gorgeous.

It makes too much sense (above referenced healthcare plan) for the GOP to implement.
Now JB lets not be cynical.

Whether it makes sense to the RINO depends on whether he is campaigning or governing.

When they are governing, they have the attention span of a flee, and the courage of the Horatio Gates who fled the revolutionary war battlefield after his troops were defeated.

  13. Tom Cole is a Ryan lieutenant.

    Tom Cole hates Donald Trump.

He is the ugliest man in Congress.

    How ugly?

Well, let me put it this way.

Have you ever seen a dog called a sharpei?

Well, Tom Cole makes a shrpei look like a beauty queen.

  14. In the case of Tom Cole, the origin of the specie is not hard to fathom, to wit:

In the stage play A Man For All Seasons Thomas Moore says something profound about a less than noble member of the nobility:

Somewhere in her pedigree past, a bitch jumped over the wall.

Take a look at the photo of Tom Cole that Tony Stark posted, and then

Compare it to the link below

And tell me there is no family resemblance.

  15. admin – wow – just wow – what an excellent essay. And I’m always amazed at how much knowledge you have outside the political sphere.

But I do think you got something a little wrong with the story of the Venice guy and the broken chair. I read all those names he had, and I’m pretty sure they carried sufficient weight to contribute to the chair breaking lol

  16. Lots of head-scratching and confusion about this morning’s DJT twitter attack on the Freedom Caucus and apparent siding with Ryan on moving his agenda. Everyone agrees that the proposed healthcare bill stunk, written by Ryan in secret, not allowed to be viewed by anyone until it was rolled out, no amendments until the last few days, take it or leave it choice, relying on Trump to smooth things over with Ryan’s own caucus, etc. Tonight, Gingrich, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Lou Dobbs, and Hannity, all wondered aloud what that was all about (and those are just the ones I saw). If there is some high strategy involved in this tactic, it’s way over my head (which is not unusual).

OT: Merv Griffin was a bloody genius. He wrote the 30-second Jeopardy “think” song posted by admin at the beginning of this article and received composer royalties for it every time it was played since the show started in 1964 (not to mention all of the other non-Jeopardy times the song has been played over the years). Griffin estimated that he made $70 million in royalties for that tune over the course of his life.

  17. wbboei @ 5:56 PM

A few weeks ago, admin referenced a scene in “Day of the Jackal” in which the police commissioner tapped all of the cabinet members’ phones because he didn’t know who the guilty party was. As a result, all of the innocent politicians looked glum, because they realized that the commissioner now knew all of their secrets also. To me, this seems to be the way the members of congress are acting regarding the Trump surveillance investigation; they all look like they fear that their own wiretapped secrets will be exposed by Comey if they investigate too vigorously (even Comey himself looks that way). This has been the FBI’s standard method of dealing with rogues in the past.

Nunes seems to be competent and on the right track; Burr, not so much. I don’t even know if the Senate Intel committee plans to look at the Trump surveillance issue; it only appears to be interested in the “Russian meddling” connection.

Hopefully, Nunes won’t back down and cave to the hysteria, and there is more going on behind the scenes. This investigation will probably require much patience, which is in short supply right now with many of us.

    Fingers crossed.

This is why it needs to go to the Justice Department, to the number two man who I hope will be appointed during the Easter recess.
If it stays with congress, it will go nowhere and big media will tell only one side of the story. It is obvious that this pathological liar Shiff would be just as obstructionist as the pathological liar Elija as minority chairman, so what is the point? To put a more charitable spin on it, the issue is a hot potato no democrat can handle. I would like to see them appoint Mike Mukasey to investigate it. Better still, Rudi Guiliani. I think that appointment can be handled within the executive branch so the dims need not approve. If they had to approve, I am sure they would want either Loretta Lynch or Merrill Garland to handle that cover up—excuse me, strike that, that investigation.

  19. For dims, the issue is not what is good for the country.

The only issue they are interested in is which side are you on, and what is good for me personally.

This is the furthest thing from patriotism that anyone could imagine.

It is cowardice at best, and sedition at worst.

  20. Lorac
    Good question for us novices…
A wet saw is an electric “saw” with a large, very sharp blade in the middle of a metal base that rests on top of a tray of water below the metal base to keep the blade wet & I think cool while you cut individual tiles

“Cool tool” very useful…I might consider getting one when I get ready to do some stairs & an entrance way sometime much later in the year

What I really like about it is it allows you to get as creative with your tile choices as you want
Not a tool the average ‘female’ generally interacts with..but shouldn’t be afraid to try

  21. Gun control more important than women to the left:

McAuliffe Vetoes Bill Allowing Domestic Violence Victims To Arm Themselves

Virginia’s radically anti-gun Democrat governor, Clinton crony Terry McAuliffe, wants to ensure that domestic abusers don’t face armed victims.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D.) vetoed a bill on Friday that aimed to allow victims of domestic violence to carry concealed firearms without obtaining a permit.

House Bill 1852 would allow anyone in Virginia who has a protective order and is over 21 to carry a concealed firearm without a permit for up to 45 days after the order is issued. It would then give anyone with an active order an additional 45 days to carry concealed should they apply for a permanent concealed-handgun permit, which can take up to 45 days to process. The person with the protective order would be required to show police the order or permit application and photo ID if stopped.

Governor McAuliffe noted in a statement that the bill bypasses the training and background check requirements associated with obtaining a Virginia concealed handgun permit and said it would make domestic violence situations worse, not better. “The bill perpetuates the dangerous fiction that the victims of domestic violence will be safer by arming themselves,” he said. “It would inject firearms into a volatile domestic violence situation, making that situation less safe, not more.”

  22. Call us cruel, but some people only learn when they get beaten up. So we say “More of this please”:

White Social Justice Warrior Dies at Hands of Black Killer

Nobody had to tell Corrina Mehiel about the white privilege that killed her. It was a major focus of her life as a white Social Justice Warrior disguised as an artist.

Earlier this month, that work took her to George Washington University in the nation’s capital. There she was part of a project drawing attention to one feature of white privilege or another.

This time, lead paint in old houses occupied predominantly by black people.

Just a few days after she was photographed with Nancy Pelosi grinning in approval, friends found Mehiel tied up, stabbed, tortured, and ultimately dead at the hands of El Hadji Alpha Madiou Toure, a black man arrested driving her car and using her debit card.

He said he didn’t do it.

Even the newest practitioner of Critical Race Theory learns that the expectation of safety is a white thing: Black people don’t have it. So why should white people think they deserve it?

That is what activists by the score told Tracey Halvorsen, in response to her article titled “Baltimore, You Are Breaking My Heart,” detailing the day to day black on white harassment, threats, violence and murder in her gentrified Baltimore neighborhood. All detailed in that scintillating best seller Don’t Make the Black Kids Angry.

None of that mattered to Mehiel or the reporters who praised her racial activism even as they ignored the bitter irony of her death.

Mehiel was white and down with the cause, so Mehiel thought the cause was down with her. So did her friends. A fatal mistake:

“Awful,” said Rafer Hoxsworth. “I wonder if the suspect would have spared her had he known how hard she fought for social justice during her life.”

She is hardly the first preacher of the gospel of relentless black victimization to die at the hands of black people whom they sought to protect from relentless white racist violence.

In Oakland, David Ruenzel, a white writer for the Southern Poverty Law Center who was among the first to write about that thing called White Privilege, met a similar fate in an Oakland park — documented on these pages.

Then there was the Baltimore t-shirt vendor for Black Lives Matter, robbed, beaten, but still alive. And the old white dude who was trying to convince a group of Black Lives Protesters in Berkeley not to loot the Radio Shack. They hit him on the head with a hammer for his trouble. He lived too.

    This is a long list.

Most white allies know enough to do their virtue display a safe distance from the black predators they seek to shelter and exonerate.

    But not Mehiel.

Her Facebook page and blog are full of anger toward the white racism that she was convinced was causing so much violence towards innocent black people:

“This year has been exciting and terrifying. So many tragedies inflicted on the full spectrum of non-white males in my country.

I have spent many days trying to understand this moment in our history. Feeling so proud of what we have all accomplished.

Sobbing with the country at the death of the young, beautiful people in Orlando. Crying to my father after watching Philando Castile pass in real time in front of the whole world.

His strong and beautiful girlfriend having the strength to show that story to an already grieving country. [snip]

Her Facebook page is bursting with the gospel of black victimization, from the death of Biggie Smalls to the white racism of Donald Trump to the white racism destroying schools in Detroit and everything in between.

Her belief in black victimization came, she said, at an early age when her mother read to her the book that would change her life: It Takes a Village, by Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Hillary’s book may have neglected to mention that black on white murder is wildly out of proportion: And how a black person is 27 times (at least) more likely to murder a white person than vice versa.

In the few days before and after Mehiel’s murder, that trend continued around the country.

Down in Jacksonville, Florida, a white music teacher told a black man that she did not want to hire him to clean her yard. He killed her. For the music teacher and mother of four, it was her second time around the block: 23 years ago, another black intruder broke into the same house and almost killed her.

For the killer, it was his 33rd arrest. [snip]

In Milwaukee, a group of black people carjacked a white city inspector and killed him. The same mayor who has appointed himself one of the nation’s top preachers of the gospel of black victimization and white racism appeared before the TV cameras to wonder how this could have happened.

Not one reporter suggested the obvious: Violence and murder and denial is part of a pattern in Milwaukee and around the rest of the country. And he is part of the problem.

In Spring Lake, North Carolina, a white mother of two was found murdered outside her home. Her black boyfriend is under arrest.

In Cincinnati, a white man named Jamie Urton was driving through a black neighborhood when a black child darted in front of his car, striking it. The child was shaken, but okay. Urton died after three black people pulled him from the car, beat him, then shot him.

Neighbors say it happens all the time.

What SJWs don’t get: It’s not about skin color. It’s about criminals who prey on the weak.

  23. There certainly is the criminal mind that doesn’t care what color you are, but Black on White crime is out of control, 27/1…

  24. Good news! 37 Obama Dimocrats will support Schumer’s filibuster of Gorsuch:

The Hill’s Whip List: 2 Dems for, 37 against Trump’s Supreme Court nominee

The Hill’s Whip List: 2 Dems for, 37 against Trump’s Supreme Court nominee
    © Greg Nash
Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) is urging Democrats to join him in opposing Neil Gorsuch, President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court.

The question is whether Schumer’s entire conference will follow him in a filibuster of the nomination, which would force Republicans to win 60 votes for his nomination.

Republicans have warned they will go “nuclear” and change the Senate’s rules to force through the Gorsuch confirmation if Democrats block a nominee they say is fully qualified for the court.
Democrats, emboldened by opposition to Trump on the left, are still stinging over the GOP blockade against President Obama’s nominee to the court, Merrick Garland.

GOP leaders are eyeing a final confirmation vote in early April.

    Detailed list at the link.

This good news means that the filibuster will continue and Gorsuch will only be confirmed if the GOP nukes the filibuster rules for Supreme Court nominees.

Once the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees is removed then President Trump will not only get Justice Gorsuch but also a free hand for the next high court nominee. Good news.

  25. Once the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees is removed then President Trump will not only get Justice Gorsuch but also a free hand for the next high court nominee. Good news
It is good news, and there are only two possible explanations for it:

    (1) Schumer knows better, but estimates that he dare not defy his out-for-blood base; or

    (2) Schumer is insane.

I’m hoping it’s just (1). It will make it easier for Trump to negotiate with him later.

Good news! 37 Obama Dimocrats will support Schumer’s filibuster of Gorsuch:
    Very good news.

  27. Waiting for Gorsuch to be confirmed by the Senate GOP using the nuke option is like waiting for Christmas.

  28. That story about the activist being killed is tragic, but it is no different than the anti-Israeli activists who would meet similar fates in the very countries they support but would be safe in Israel. The world is a really f— up place.

Wealthy Trump Donors Rush to Back Him With a Media Blitz

Supporters prepare 10-state television advertizing blitz
Campaign comes in wake of failed GOP bid to repeal Obamacare [snip]

Making America Great, a nonprofit run by Rebekah Mercer, one of Trump’s most influential donors, will begin airing $1 million in television ads on Wednesday, coupled with a $300,000 digital advertising campaign. The TV ads will run in the District of Columbia, along with ten states Trump carried in the presidential election where a Democratic senator is up for re-election in 2018: West Virginia, Wisconsin, Missouri, Michigan, North Dakota, Florida, Ohio, Indiana, Montana and Pennsylvania. The digital campaign also will focus on voters in those states.

“Our group will be a conduit to highlight President Trump’s achievement to the rest of the country,” says Emily Cornell, who is moving from the Mercer-funded data firm Cambridge Analytica to run Making America Great’s day-to-day operations. “We are here to promote successes and hold accountable broken promises — not just to those who voted for Trump, but to all Americans.” [snip]

“Over the last couple weeks, we’ve aggressively tried to launch Making America Great,” says David Bossie, the group’s chief strategist. “We have the full support of the White House, and our effort is proud to be stepping up to help President Trump move his agenda forward.”

The White House did not respond to requests for comment.

Making America Great’s first television ad emphasizes Trump’s early accomplishments: the 298,000 jobs created during his first month in office, his decision to withdraw the U.S. from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, and his approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline.

  30. This will not end well for the dims some of whom will face prosecution. In addition, it will be a case of Brennan flambe without the teriyaki sauce.

If this Fox News report is correct, Rep. Devin Nunes is way ahead of the Democrats, and has known since January the identity of the Obama holdovers who illegally leaked the names of Trump associates to the press:

The U.S. intelligence official who “unmasked,” or exposed, the names of multiple private citizens affiliated with the Trump team is someone “very well known, very high up, very senior in the intelligence world,” a source told Fox News on Friday.

Intelligence and House sources with direct knowledge of the disclosure of classified names told Fox News that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., now knows who is responsible — and that person is not in the FBI.
Nunes has known about the unmasking controversy since January, when two sources in the intelligence community approached him. The sources told Nunes who was responsible and at least one of the Trump team names that was unmasked. They also gave him serial numbers of reports that documented the activity.

This was long before Trump sent out his now-infamous March 4 tweets claiming then-President Barack Obama “wiretapped” Trump Tower during the 2016 election.

Nunes had asked intelligence agencies to see the reports in question, but was stonewalled.

He eventually was able to view them, but there was only one safe place to see the documents without compromising the sources’ identities — the old executive office building on White House grounds, which has a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) required to view classified or top secret reports.
The White House, meanwhile, is urging Nunes and his colleagues to keep pursuing what improper surveillance and leaks may have occurred before Trump took office. They’ve been emboldened in the wake of March 2 comments from former Obama administration official Evelyn Farkas, who on MSNBC suggested her former colleagues tried to gather material on Trump team contacts with Russia.
In addition, citizens affiliated with Trump’s team who were unmasked were not associated with any intelligence about Russia or other foreign intelligence, sources confirmed. The initial unmasking led to other surveillance, which led to other private citizens being wrongly unmasked, sources said.

If all of this is correct, the story will not end well for the Democrats, some of whom appear to be in line for criminal prosecution.

  31. “Boot and other neo-cons all hoped that Elliott Abrams, who was briefly considered for the post of deputy secretary of state, would bring them into the administration and were bitterly disappointed when Abrams got the boot (no pun intended). Boot had supported Hillary Clinton during the presidential election because he thought she would win and maybe give him a job. That brings to mind what the 1920s Comintern chief Bela Kun said when Stalin threw Zinoviev out of the Politburo: “I’ve discovered that I’ve been kissing the wrong ass!”

A lot of funk in DC and NYC over kissing the wrong ass these days. Jeb’s ass is at a taqueria in Florida and Obama’s has absconded to French Polynesia. Hillary’s ass is in the woods and Bill’s is in the penthouse of his library smouldering like The Beast. Why these “public thinkers” (is the qualification being awake and using more than your brain stem?) thought (or is it felt?) they would get jobs to “think” WITH or instead of doers like Tillerson, Wilber, and the generals is still a tribute to human delusion, hubris and cognitive dissonance. They have been wrong about every single thing they “thought” but still believed someone would employ or listen to them. Do odds-makers who bankrupt casinos or actuaries who ruin insurance companies get new jobs doing the same thing? That would be a no.

I “think” they got the goods on Obama. Brennan is a flunky. Lynch tried to fall on her sword in her terrified video. Obama took off like a scalded cat when little hints started showing up or the loons with loose lips started crawling out of the cracks. They tried to cover his footprints but either screwed up or some low level types who had been ignored, insulted, dehumanized by Obama’s crowd “forgot” to delete it all as ordered. It seems to be on the National Security Council’s network. Being lazy and stupid they didn’t realize an audit would be done immediately on EVERYTHING like hostile takeovers always do. After a hostile takeover pockets are turned inside out and everyone is flipped upside down and shaken vigorously to get all the bad stuff out fast. Being grifters and layabouts the Obama-ites didn’t understand that nor that there are always a crew of informers and tattletales who would like a leg up with the new boss. Using Nunes to hide the identity of informers is very smart.

  33. Mormaer, this Russia distraction will play well for PDT. It is almost assumed now that Clapper was the one who unmasked the names. Whoever turns out to be, the undisputed assumption is that the name of the unmasker is known.

For the left this week will tell the tale. Once Gorsuch is on the high court, game over. Not only will this be a lasting achievement for PDT it will also become clearer to all that President Trump continues to move forward as his opponents continue to waste time.

Even Rachel Maddow understands at some dim level that this Russia distraction has outlived its usefulness:

The news today that we may get testimony in exchange for immunity from fired National Security Advisor Mike Flynn who is in a position potentially to know more about the scandal than anybody else, that news today revs this scandal up into higher gear that we didn’t even know we had in our national transmission, and you know, we will — we here at the show and I think on this network, we will cover this as aggressively as anybody. I think it’s been fair to say we have been as aggressive as anybody on this story already and that will remain the case.

But I want to just plant this flag here — there remains the possibility that the president and his campaign are innocent. There remains the possibility that the president and his campaign are not incident — not innocent, but that this scandal does not prove to be an existential presidency-ending conflagration, even if they are found to have committed very bad acts. There remains the possibility that at the end of this, even if these investigations continue to go as badly as they have for the president thus far, there remains the possibility that the end of all of it, he’s still president and then for the sake of our democracy, we have to figure out how we are going to regain our in tolerance for corruption and scandal and throwing our American ethical and political norms out the window.

One of the consequences already of the Russia attack and it’s aftermath is that what otherwise would be presidency ending scandals in any presidential administration are like, whoo page 15, if you get there, man. I mean, when all this is over and who knows how it ends, if we are ever to regain our previous standing as a liberal democracy, right, there’s going to have to be consequences for, you know, the Carl Icahn stuff for the lying to the Senate stuff, for the personal ethics stuff, for the nepotism. Even for the political radicalism that we now see is definitely no big deal because at least it’s not treason.

Whether or not the Russia scandal brings down this presidency and it might, the point of the Russia attack was to knock America down a few pegs in the eyes of the world. They win and we lose if the outcome of all of this — regardless of this presidency — is that we become a country that lets all this other stuff slide, right, we’re even rank corruption becomes normal or too small potatoes for us to worry about it. We cannot let ourselves be the American generation where the standard slipped that badly, right, where that happened. At some point, we’re going to have to get back to zero in terms of being able to be shocked by corruption, nepotism and crime in government. We’re going to have to get back to zero when it’s all done.

All of Maddow’s assumptions are straight outta kookton but the possibility/probability that all the Big Media distraction on Russia amounts to nothing but a big nothing. Meanwhile President Trump continues to move the pieces forward to “checkmate”.

  34. As Salena Zito and we here have written, Trump support among Trump supporters is the only thing that matters:

Trump’s poll numbers are low. But the people who put him in office say it’s not time to judge him — yet

It’s been five months since the euphoria of a Donald Trump rally at the local arena brought optimism to this former Democratic stronghold. The snow from a long winter has begun melting into the rocky soil, and the digital sign in a torn-up parking lot blinks hopefully: “Warm days are coming.”

President Trump has yet to deliver jobs or the repeal of Obamacare. But here, in an area crucial to his unexpected election victory, many residents are more frustrated with what they see as obstruction and a rush to judgment than they are with Trump.

Give him six months to prove himself, said an information technology supervisor. Give him a year, said a service manager. Give him four years, said a retired print shop owner.

Give the man a chance,” said Crystal Matthews, a 59-year-old hospital employee. “They’re just going to fight him tooth and nail, the whole way.” [snip]

Wilkes-Barre, in a valley along the Susquehanna River, is emblematic of the mid-sized cities in the Rust Belt that proved decisive to Trump’s winning electoral formula and the tenacity of his support.

The region once drew prosperity from coal and remains dependent on industry including, in recent years, warehouse distribution and hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. The late 19th century brick factories lend downtown a historic quality that sets it apart from the chain stores atop the hill overlooking town.

Jim Haggerty, a 63-year-old resident of nearby Forty Fort, sat in Sweet Treet diner on a recent weekday morning, reading the local newspaper and lamenting that two of his three children left the area after obtaining college degrees. His third may have no choice but to do the same when he graduates.

“This area lacks quality jobs,” said Haggerty, who retired from the printing business he owned. “We’ve got blue collar, after blue collar, after blue collar.”

Haggerty voted twice for President Obama but, like many here, was eager to experiment with someone he believed would run the country like a successful business.

Luzerne County, which includes Wilkes-Barre, gave nearly 60% of its vote to Trump, four years after supporting Obama. Among the three Pennsylvania counties that flipped from blue to red in 2016, playing a key role in delivering the state to Trump, Luzerne had the largest Republican uptick — nearly 12 percentage points.

Trump built loyalty here. He held two rallies in Wilkes-Barre; the second came during the lowest point in his campaign, after a recording emerged in which he bragged about grabbing women against their will.

The crowd at the Mohegan Sun Arena chanted “CNN sucks” that day in October, a sign that they were more angry with the news media than with Trump.

Many of those who stood in the same arena this week to watch the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins face off against the Utica Comets in a minor league hockey game said they remained disgusted with the coverage of Trump. One man acidly rattled off the names of network anchors — Lester Holt, Wolf Blitzer — naming them as among the people conspiring to stop Trump from breaking the mold of “bought and paid for” politicians.

They’re going to do anything they have to do to make sure Trump doesn’t succeed,” said Rich Martini, a 51-year-old book printer, sipping a beer in the hallway amid the smell of glazed nuts and mustard.

There’s a bias,” said David Ambrulavage, a 50-year-old IT manager, wearing a white Penguins jersey in the nosebleed seats as the Zamboni cleared the floor and Aerosmith’s “Dream On” blasted from the sound system.

Are Trump and his family making money off the presidency? He wouldn’t be the first, Ambrulavage said.

Did the Trump campaign collaborate with Russians to influence the election? They didn’t invent the emails that embarrassed Hillary Clinton, he said. Those were drafted by Democrats. [snip]

To Ambrulavage, those problems do not outweigh Trump’s focus on beefing up military spending, approving a crude oil pipeline from Canada and trying to prevent companies from moving their workforces overseas.

Ambrulavage wants to get rid of Obamacare and believes the president hurt his ability to win votes in Congress by creating a “lot of noise” with his tweets and outspoken comments.

Trump and Republicans in Congress pledged to quickly repeal Obamacare, but last week, amid GOP infighting, party leaders pulled a bill that would have done so.

Healthcare is no longer at the top of Trump’s agenda, but several Trump supporters here remain adamant that the Affordable Care Act has to go, suggesting they may punish Trump and Republican lawmakers if they fail to live up to their promise. [snip]

Stewart’s approval for Trump is not unlimited. He just wants to give him time to prove he can learn politics. But he said he dared not raise any complaints about Trump with his friends, who uniformly defend the president.

That reservoir of tolerance for Trump drives his opponents here crazy.

“It’s an absolute joke. He has no idea what he’s doing,” said Jeanne Laktash, a 34-year-old Internet copywriter from Dickson City, a small city northeast of Wilkes-Barre. She reeled off a list of grievances against Trump, including a budget that proposed slashing Meals on Wheels.

It seems like he could do anything, and they wouldn’t care,” she said ruefully. “I haven’t seen a lot of buyers’ remorse.

Smart analysis from the blue collar workers who understand much more than Big Media gives them credit for.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized 808 pounds of narcotics at the southern border over the weekend, worth about $2.8 million CBP said in a media release Tuesday.

From Mar. 24-26, border officers at the ports of entry in San Diego and Imperial Valley Counties, seized 402 pounds of methamphetamine, 344 pounds of marijuana, 55 pounds of cocaine and seven pounds of heroin.

    In one weekend.

  37. Okay, I freely admit it was presumptuous on my part to ever suggest that a fine gentleman like Brennan would stoop to such depths.

On the other hand, it is hard to believe he would not.

First, take a look at his sordid curriculum vitae, and here is what you will find:

First, a Saudi loving Muslim bureaucrat and former communist

Second, an Obama stooge promoted beyond the level of his ability

Third, a witness who perjured himself in his testimony before congress (as did Clapper)

Forth, a leaker whoi the circulated the dirty dossier to the Obama and media, knowing it to be false

Fifth, a powerful bureaucrat with the means motive and opportunity to perpetrate the crime.

Would a jackal like that unmask the names of Obama’s political opponent and potential successor?

Does a bear shit in the forest?

Okay, maybe its Dapper Jim Clapper, an Air Force general not quite old enough to have taken the oath on the plains of West Point, where men like Patton, McArthur, Eisenhower and their ilk all did.

Maybe he is a product of Colorado Springs, or some civilian school, as it that old ditty: some join for the love of the service, some join for the love of the sea, but I know an asshole named Clapper, he joined for a college degree, etc.

And to protect the nation from, well, er, Clapper.

On the other hand, Clapper is a wiley and elusive quarry.

The question is when the case against him is made by the prosecution, will the defense of not willingly work the second time around.

If it comes before that a court of competent jurisdiction, as opposed to that Harvard trained bumpkin in Hawaii, he will be wiling away his golden years in Leavenworth Federal Center of Incarceration.

Of course if he hopes to avoid that fate, he can always trade up, provided they have an extradition treaty in whatever foreign county that the big media beloved messiah have fled to for his health.

  38. Not wittingly, is an affirmative defense, which brooks no exceptions.

You might even say it is a get out of jail free card, in the court of that little judge from Hawaii

But only if it is invoked by a democrat.

  39. Pathetic that we are still this separated from nonFake:
Carr: Real ‘Fake News’ Is Media’s Failure to Cover Illegal Immigrant Crimes
… Boston-area radio host Howie Carr reacted to news of an illegal immigrant being accused of murdering a teacher’s aide in nearby Worcester, Mass… When 23 heroin and fentanyl dealers were rounded up by authorities, Carr said he had to call U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ office in Washington because Massachusetts authorities wouldn’t tell him how many were illegal immigrants.

Sessions’ office told him ten of the 23 were in the country illegally, he said.”

  40. It does not surprise me that Evelyn Farkus admitted that the intelligence community was spying on Trump, that the Obama administration had that information, and that the Obama administration leaked it to people on the Hill, as well as big media. This is what rabid ideologues like her do.

It does not surprise me that big media has imposed a black out on this story. After all it guts their narrative that Trump’s claim that Obama spied on him was bat shit crazy.

What surprise me is that MSNBC who is so invested in the phony Russian connection story that they failed to realize that by putting this witness on the stand they destroyed their other narrative, i.e. that Trump was not spied on.

If you want a working definition of stupid, think about what Mika said in response: a lot going on today.

After that an Obama fellow traveler might be heard to say this.

    Evelyn really farked us.

Rush has the best take on all this:

  41. A mental featherweight, with a bad genetic history.

Prior to running for Congress, Senator Burr (R-NC) worked for 17 years as a sales manager for Carswell Distributing Company, a distributor of lawn equipment.

Burr is a 12th cousin of Aaron Burr,

  42. Old White guys need not apply.

I must say on my trip to D.C. It became apparent that every National building, or place of interest , had an interwoven narrative, slavery, that was presented. I wondered if this was relatively new, part of the obama agenda, I thought I may be imagining it at first, but I found documation on it that it was a real push in the last ten years.
This is not to minimize the Black experience, or the hell of slavery, but I didn’t see any real effort to weave in the Women’s narrative or any other race, in the whole picture of
    the founding of America.

  43. Admin: Could Drudge be right? When Ryan got Trump to support and lobby for this toxic bill connived by insurance industry lobbyists in secret was this a deliberate act of sabotage? And now we expect Ryan to be any different when it comes to taxes and infrastructure? And when Ryan whimpers out that if we, the Republicans, meaning the Freedom Caucus do not do as I say then the president will go to the Democrats, I wonder what Ryan has against bipartisanship. Trump needs to remember that parable about the snake in any and all dealings with Ryan. Trumps attack on the Freedom caucus was unprecedented and unsettling to many of us. It was as if it came out of Ryan’s mouth. What I suspect, however, is that members of the caucus made some promises to Trump when he was trolling for support for the bill and then reneged. The only reason I suspect that is because the night before the bill was supposed to be voted, there were reports on Lou Dobbs and elsewhere, mentioned on this blog, that a Trump had engineered a breakthrough and the bill would now go through. If that is the explanation then loyalty was a factor, and he was well withing his rights to call him on it. Short of that however, his attack on the Freedom caucus rather than the disloyal man who tried to sink him in the campaign, and set him up to fail on this legislation should be the target of his wrath. This article comes from The Hill:

Conservative media personality Matt Drudge on Friday said he suspects Congress is intentionally undermining President Trump with legislative and policy hurdles and obstructions.

“I suspect there’s a sabotage,” Drudge said on Michael Savage’s radio show.

“Do you know Obama had the stimulus package on his desk before Inauguration Day? What did this Congress give this great man. Nothing.”

Drudge said that Trump’s young administration is in “crisis on many fronts,” describing a Congress intent on undermining his presidency and ungrateful media coalescing in a campaign against the real estate mogul.

He also argued that Trump “saved the media,” pointing to rising newspaper subscriptions and increasing viewership for television news networks since he began his presidential campaign.

The founder of the conservative Drudge Report website said that compounding that is a sense that Trump’s personality has been repressed in the White House.

“His personality is not being totally used here. The charm, the guy who ran the hotel, the guy that had a No. 1 TV show with ‘The Apprentice,’” Drudge said. “This is part of charisma. Charisma is needed in this job.”

“This isn’t just getting a bill through Congress. This is also charisma,” he added. “So I wish they would let him return to Donald Trump; the full Donald Trump.”

But Drudge also advised the president to stay behind the scenes more, focusing less on media appearances and public relations campaigns and more on fulfilling his campaign promises.

  46. This Obama appointed shill in Kentucky, Judge David Hale, makes the ridiculous charge that Trump incited violence at one of his rallies.. Incited violence? Shades of the little Judge in Hawaii. These Obama appointed judges, and former contributors to his campaign are now the attack dogs in the strategy of the left to bring down a populist president–one who is sceptical of the globalist vision of their handlers. For what is is worth Hale reminds me of the Nazi judge in Judgment at Nuremberg portrayed by Burt Landcaster who let politics contaminate and destroy his integrity as a judicial officer. Same goes for that little feller in Hawaii, who is equally despicable in my opinion. It is always despicable when a judge who like lady justice is supposed to be blind falls off the wagon and succumbs to temptation. Temptation such as the comes in two forms–bribery, or the love of approbation. Jake Erlich, the celebrated mid century criminal defense lawyer of the 1950s, memorialized in the television series Sam Benedict, use to say, you can bribe one man out of a hundred with gold, and most of the rest through the love of approbation and the sense the they are part of an enlightened community, which exists separate from the madding crowd/

  47. Russia Trolls Democratic Party With Epic April Fools’ Day Prank
Posted at 10:14 am on April 2, 2017 by Martin Walsh

Saturday was the first of April, making it “April Fools Day.” Russia, not normally known for being humorous, played a hilarious joke on the Democratic party amid all of the controversy.

The Russian Foreign Ministry posted an audio file on its Facebook page showcasing their new switchboard message when someone calls the agency.

The audio message begins with, “You have reached the Russian Embassy. Your call is very important to us.”

“To arrange a call from a Russian diplomat to your political opponent, press 1,” the recording says in both English and Russian.

Callers are then instructed to “press 2” if they want to use “the services of Russian hackers.”

If callers want to speak with someone surrounding “election interference,” they are instructed to “press 3.”

A majority of people understand this is a joke meant to provide levity to the situation, but that didn’t stop The Associated Press from reporting that the recording was in fact meant to be a joke.

The allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election are very serious. While we do have proof that Russia was, in part, trying to hack our elections to favor one candidate over another, it’s still a strong reach to prove their attempts had any major impact.

Most do not dispute that Russian allegations are very serious and that we should investigate them thoroughly to ensure our country is protected from all foreign agents.

But polling shows that almost 60 percent of Americans believe that “Russian attempts” to influence the election using cyber-attacks “had no effect” on the outcome of the election.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday spoke publicly about many – primarily the Democratic party – in the United States criticizing Russia for tampering with the election.

Putin called the accusations of election interference “endless and groundless,” according to a report by CBS News.

“Do we want to completely cut relations? Putin said. “Do we want to bring the situation to what it was during the Cuban Missile Crisis of the 1960’s?”

    Watch Jake get trapped!
    He did get trapped alright.

Every question was dripping with hostility and pure hatred.

Every answer was calm, logical and responsive.

And every answer called out the hyperbole in the question.

This guy Tapper is a loud obnoxious carnival barker.

You need to turn down the volume when he speaks.

I remember when he tried to tell a special forces soldier whose comrades were lost

That this was a worthless loss of life

That soldier damned near stood up and smacked him

And for one brief shining moment Mr Taptoes was in fear of imminent bodily harm.

Because, you see, patriots do not like traitors.

And what is that aging yuppie scumbag Tapper but a traitor of the lowest order.

The kind that mingles among the elites and looks for ways to stick a dagger in the back of the American people

So he and his ilk do not run out of the champagne and caviar

As the told a waiter serving that slop to him, elitists like me do not live on bread alone.

  49. Another cnn gerbil who has gone way off the deep end is Major Garrett.

Who is too dumb and lazy to ever make colonel.

Did you notice how in the link foxy posted he was caterwalling as the President exited the room.

Stupid have you stopped beating your wives question.

The next thing you know, he and his fellow travellers will be doing the Bronx cheer/\

And when they do, I will insist that the Capitol Hill Police arrest them, and cart them away in a paddy wagon.

They are cases of arrested development, this big media divas.

  50. I’m Major Garrett of the Horse Marines
I feed my horse on corn and beans
I date very ladies in their teens
Though but a Fake News Flunky

  51. Obama Spied, Media Lied
    Holy smoking gun, Batman!

Once you wave away all the smoke created by our dishonest media, the story of this past week was pretty simple. The Trump-Russia-Conspiracy narrative is falling apart. The Obama-Spied-on-his-Political-Opposition narrative is coming together. The media has given credence to Democrat Congressman Adam Schiff’s hysterical charges about how the Republican chair of the committee, Devin Nunes, made his latest discoveries. But Schiff is a dishonest McCarthyite, spewing insinuations and accusations without any proof to back them up. Nunes, on the other hand, has obviously gotten hold of solid intel showing that Obama spied on Trump and his people, pretty much as the president tweeted back on March 4. The willing Democrat executioners of truth — i.e. the news staffs at ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and the New York Times — give equal weight to the statements of both men, making it seem like the House Intelligence Committee has simply descended into partisan bickering. But that’s a lie. Nunes has found something. Schiff is smearing him and the president. Those two actions do not deserve the same sort of coverage.

An intelligence whistle blower has apparently shown Nunes documents containing intelligence gathered on members of Trump’s transition team. Though this intelligence may have been gathered legally — i.e. as part of a wiretap on foreigners — at least two of the names of Americans, including the name of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, were illegally revealed and shared widely. Other names were made obvious even though they remained concealed. None of the investigations seems to have had anything to do with Russia.

You can tell that Nunes has got this stuff solid because after he saw the documents he first informed the media, then informed the president, then informed the media that he had informed the president. The White House has since invited members of both the House and Senate Intelligence Committees to view certain documents which may or may not be the ones Nunes saw. That’s a lot different than Schiff making McCarthyite noise about there being “more than circumstantial evidence” that Trump works for SMERSH. Schiff and other Democrats have tried to confuse the issue with cries that Nunes isn’t playing fair and demands that he recuse himself. (snip)

I have no doubt the Russians tried to influence our election process this past year and every year before that. I have no doubt that we have done the same in other countries. It’s a legitimate news story, but not a shocking big hold-the-press news story. That the Obama Gang was using intelligence on Republicans to try to thwart a Trump administration from erasing Obama’s legacy — that’s a huge story, a scandal almost as big as the fact that Obama used the IRS to decimate the Tea Party movement. If there were even a single honest editor at the network news departments or CNN or the New York Times, this would end with some high-level Obama and Hillary cronies doing perp walks. If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

  52. I never believed in the lone gunman theory.

Nor do I believe this was just Rice

Rice took the bullet for Obama on Benghazi

Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that

    When she requested the unmasking

She did so to protect Obama here as well.

As the Farkas gutspill tells us other were involved

I think we now have enough to appoint a special prosecutor, grand jury, etc.

That is the only way to clean out the swamp.

  53. Is Putin the ‘Preeminent Statesman’ of Our Times?

What elevates Putin above all other 21st-century leaders?

“When Putin took power in the winter of 1999-2000, his country was defenseless. It was bankrupt. It was being carved up by its new kleptocratic elites, in collusion with its old imperial rivals, the Americans. Putin changed that.

“In the first decade of this century, he did what Kemal Ataturk had done in Turkey in the 1920s. Out of a crumbling empire, he resurrected a national-state, and gave it coherence and purpose. He disciplined his country’s plutocrats. He restored its military strength. And he refused, with ever blunter rhetoric, to accept for Russia a subservient role in an American-run world system drawn up by foreign politicians and business leaders. His voters credit him with having saved his country.”

Putin’s approval rating, after 17 years in power, exceeds that of any rival Western leader. But while his impressive strides toward making Russia great again explain why he is revered at home and in the Russian diaspora, what explains Putin’s appeal in the West, despite a press that is every bit as savage as President Trump’s?

Answer: Putin stands against the Western progressive vision of what mankind’s future ought to be. Years ago, he aligned himself with traditionalists, nationalists and populists of the West, and against what they had come to despise in their own decadent civilization.

What they abhorred, Putin abhorred. He is a God-and-country Russian patriot. He rejects the New World Order established at the Cold War’s end by the United States. Putin puts Russia first.

  54. When Donald Trump succeeded Barack Obama as president, they went from a gaggle of slobbering groupies to a pack of baying hyenas. Some people approve of the head-snapping, 180-degree reversal, while others don’t. But everyone knows it happened.

The liberal media have a couple of problems. One is manifest bias. Another is gross incompetence. We and others have documented so many lies, and so many errors, coming from the New York Times, the Washington Post, CBS, CNN, etc., that few have any confidence in their reporting. That is as it should be.

Liberal journalists are spooked by the fact that their candidate lost in November. They are probably even more spooked by the realization that their over-the-top assaults on Donald Trump likely helped him win. (snip)

Pretty much everyone understands that left-wing journalists are promoting a liberal agenda via daily attacks on the Trump administration and Republicans generally. That doesn’t mean that their attacks are ineffective; despite being heavily discounted, the daily headlines undoubtedly take a toll. (snip)

The crisis that we face is not epistemological, it is political. There is no shortage of evidence, and the truth is rather clear:

    -Liberal governance has failed.

-The country is awash in debt,

-Its influence around the world is in decline,

-Its social programs have mostly failed,

    -Its borders are porous,

-Its governing class is corrupt and incompetent, and in recent years

-Its leaders have not even tried to advance the interests of the American people.

That is the truth. That is why Donald Trump was elected president, and why Republicans now dominate at every level of government. And that is why liberal journalists are in a panic.

  55. Who unmasked private citizens to smear Trump? Three people in the Obama administration (close to Obama) had that power. Brennan, Lo-Retta and Susan Rice. Rice was given that authority in 2011 by Obama via an EO (or something) and Comey admitted that she was one of those granted the authority recently in a House hearing.

Mike Cernovich wrote last night that it was Rice. H R McMaster’s NSA staff figured it out with logs in which Rice was required to sign to access the raw intelligence containing unmasked US citizen names. She is already known as one of the most arrogant and obnoxious people in DC, part of the Obama inner circle of venal flunkies and thieves, the Liar of Benghazi, and one of the troika of Jarrett, Rhodes and her own incompetent self. Lo-Retta is mixed up with the FISA court shopping (illegal by statute). Comey seems to be mixed up in paying Christopher Steele for dirt made up for the Brit idiots as ordered.

Anyway Rice signed a log because she never dreamed it would come back to bite her in the ass. The leaked unmasked names lined up with the stuff the genius of Stanford had requested and put her name in the log requesting. No rocket science required figuring this one out. The Dems have gone quiet. Who told this moron to get this information? Obama, Jarrett and Rhodes. Duh.

  56. Liberal governance has failed: The country is awash in debt/its influence around the world is in decline/ its social programs have mostly failed/ its borders are porous/ its governing class is corrupt and incompetent/i ts leaders have not even tried to advance the interests of the American people.
That is the intractable problem the left has. It is unsolvable by the left because to do so would require a repudiation of their entire world view. The perfect example is what they are doing in congress. Sedition, not governance. A naked effort on all fronts to destroy a democratically elected president, and a rejection of their duty to govern the nation. Everything the dims do has one incontrovertible purpose: to bring down this president, and, if necessary the country that elected him.

    This is sedition.

There is no other word for it.

  57. The source of the article on firing Comey, above:

Epoch Times is a multi-language newspaper [2] headquartered in New York City. The company was founded in 2000 by John Tang and a group of Chinese-American Falun Gong practitioners (a Buddhist sect). The newspaper covers general interest topics with a focus on news about China and human rights issues there. It draws from a network of sources inside China, as well as Chinese expatriates living in the West.[3][4][5][6] The newspaper and its staffs have won over 10 media awards, including New York Press Association Awards for design excellence and National Ethnic Press & Media Council Awards for human rights coverage.

  58. Tony Stark – loved the official portrait of Melania. The woman is drop dead georgeous. Unfortunately I made the mistake of reading the comments. So many ugly people out there. Seriously rotten people.

  59. you just have to laugh at these people…

this am I was flipping channels to catch the headlines and for a split second stopped at msnbc…at that very moment Donny Duetsch…silly, stupid Donny Duetsch was actually saying that they need psychoanalysis of PDT because, according to DD, PDT is not mentally balanced…and Mika and Joe were just going on how after knowing PDT for over 12 years they never expected it to get this bad…and how everything he has done is wrong bla, bla, bla

then i see an article written by someone I have always liked…Juan
    Williams…Trump’s Risk of Impeachment Rises

    Juan Williams, The Hill

  60. Susan Rice or Dirty Rice which I prefer is married to an ABC producer. Any wonder why her lies on Benghazi were continuously spun? MSM will not pay much attention…heard Maggie Haberman has been sitting on the story for two days now. They are all such vile and nasty people.

  61. whoops I got cut off

    Juan Williams pushing impeachment…

then i see another bit from Mika and Joe saying that all PDT does is “watch TV” (too bad they don’t pay attention to all the work he is doing…)

I can only think of that childhood term and apply it to all of them…

they are the “peanut gallery”…too many of them think it is about them…and they are in charge…they seem to believe, especially Joe S, that in hi fantasy world, that he is the President…or would be a much better one…Joe, you are a TV host on a morning TV show that hardly anyone watches…what narrow and insular perspectives they have

they have been reduced to a gossipy peanut gallery…looking from afar but thinking they are in the center of the “truth”

Susan Rice’s name is all over Fox, haven’t looked at the other cables…so i don’t know if they have picked it up yet BUT
it will definitely come up during Spicer’s Press Briefing…going to get interesting

news reports say NY Times and I think Bloomberg have had this info for a long time but have been sitting on it to protect O

the whole dishonest BM knows about this and plays dumb and LIES…LIES to the American public every day

  62. Katy Tur had Eli Lake on msnbc to discuss Susan Rice

essentially she tried to minimize the story…Lake said Democrats should be concerned about this story because if Dims did it to him, he can do it to the dims

    he stood behind his story

don’t know if CNN still has its eyes, ears and nose buried in the sand…
