Horrible Week For #Hillary2016 Due To Horrible Month For Barack Obama – And Where In Hell Is Michelle?

NBC dumps Trump for “derogatory” comments about immigrants. Big winner? Donald J. Trump. For other Republican candidates this is not good news. For Hillary2016 this is not going to be good news either as Americans see the danger of corporations and government united to suppress anything but politically correct speech. For Hillary2016 it is going to get much worse.

We warned this was not a time to stand near the stink. #Hillary2016 had a horrible week due to the horrible month for Barack Obama. But Big Media of course believes Barack Obama is having a great June and that last week was a great week for Barack Obama:

After momentous week, Obama’s presidency is reborn

He sang. He wept. He cheered. And many say they finally saw the man who inspired them in ’08.

What were the Obama Hopium Guzzlers happy about? Nine black Christians got killed in Obama’s post-racial presidency seems to be the answer. What else can it be?

Remember Obama was going to “turn the page” on all those pesky issues from the 1960s? How is that going? Every Obama promise from 2008 has blown up in the faces of his most fervent worshipers.

The black community? Oh they’re having a great time in this post racial presidency. Unemployment, riots, racial strife, killings, only #BlackLivesMatter ’cause you can’t say #AllLivesMatter lest you be seen as a racist. Yeah, bringing down the Confederate flag will be as good for the black community as electing Barack Obama. Meanwhile as Barack sings and sways where is Michelle Obama? Haven’t nine black Christians been slaughtered? In what cavern in Hell is Michelle Obama?

Like a freshly minted whore taking her first stroll down her street Michelle Obama has been on vacation on the taxpayer dime. Yeah, that killing of Christians, Christians in America, not the many Muslim countries where Christians are regularly killed, so convulsed the nation that Barack did Marvin Gaye and Michelle continued to vacation. Don’t worry black people Michelle Obama really really cared but stayed on vacation.

Maybe the Hopium Guzzlers are happy because of the Obama win on ObamaTrade? The party was against ObamaTrade and Obama sided with Republicans to pass ObamaTrade. Maybe the Hopium Guzzlers applauded that stab in the back so deftly administered by Barack Obama of Chicago.

Maybe the gay marriage decision victory on Friday is the cause for the “reborn” HOPE of 2008? Barack had colored lights deface the White House to celebrate and thereby “pass” as if he was a gay marriage or gay rights supporter all along and responsible for the gay marriage result. Where was Donnie McClurkin gay bashing and singing along with Barack as in the glory days of 2008? In 2008 Obama made other promises and commitments on gay marriage:

State law? Not in the Constitution? God’s in the mix? 2008 reborn?

Maybe on Friday Barack Hussein Obama was celebrating his other great promise of 2008. In 2008 Obama said the “Muslim World” was his buddy and he would make Americans and Muslims BFFs. All America got from the “Muslim world” has been more terrorism and more hate along with Christians and Jews killed. On Friday the “Muslim World” also celebrated on gay rights:

ISIS Celebrates Gay Love by Tossing 4 Gays from Roof of Building

ISIS celebrated gay love today by tossing four more gays from top of a highrise.

Of course a crowd gathered below to watch the execution.

Several Islamists tweeted out #LoveWins – the same hashtag that was used today after the Supreme Court ruling.

Of course this wasn’t the first time…
A massive crowd assembled to watch ISIS rebels throw another gay man off a building top earlier this month.

Hundreds of spectators came out to watch the brutal public execution.

It looks like they drove their cars to the execution!

They hung the man from his feet and then let him drop!

The execution was most likely filmed in Nineveh Province where the Islamists have murdered several gay men.

ISIS is reportedly using “flirting squads” to single out gay men for trial and execution in the Caliphate.

The Islamic State has posted several public executions of gay men online.
ISIS released photos and video of Islamists throwing two men off a rooftop in January.

Video HERE.

The Obama presidency “reborn” propagandists at Politico somehow forgot that June has 30 days. On Monday, like Michelle in front of a mirror, the sh*t hit the fan.

On Friday the China stock market hit the skids. On Monday the China skid accelerated. Today, China stocks free fall into a bear market reports CNN. China is kind of a big country so…. the worst is yet to come.

On Monday Greece hit the grease on it’s downward slide too having elected their very own Obama. The banks are closed. The stock market is closed. The mess will only get worse and it is damn bad now.

As the American markets slide several hundred points the questions on many minds are all about Italy, Portugal, and Spain along with the entire Eurozone. Europe should not feel lonely.

On Monday Puerto Rico went the way of a greased Greece down the tubes:

Puerto Rico’s Governor Says Island’s Debts Are ‘Not Payable’

Puerto Rico’s governor, saying he needs to pull the island out of a “death spiral,” has concluded that the commonwealth cannot pay its roughly $72 billion in debts, an admission that will probably have wide-reaching financial repercussions. [snip]

A broad restructuring by Puerto Rico sets the stage for an unprecedented test of the United States municipal bond market, which cities and states rely on to pay for their most basic needs, like road construction and public hospitals.

That market has already been shaken by municipal bankruptcies in Detroit; Stockton, Calif.; and elsewhere, which undercut assumptions that local governments in the United States would always pay back their debt. [snip]

Its call for debt relief on such a vast scale could raise borrowing costs for other local governments as investors become more wary of lending.

Perhaps more important, much of Puerto Rico’s debt is widely held by individual investors on the United States mainland, in mutual funds or other investment accounts, and they may not be aware of it.

Puerto Rico, as a commonwealth, does not have the option of bankruptcy. A default on its debts would most likely leave the island, its creditors and its residents in a legal and financial limbo that, like the debt crisis in Greece, could take years to sort out.

The bottom line on all this economic world-wide horror is that it is going to get much worse because:

The world is defenceless against the next financial crisis, warns BIS
Monetary policymakers have run out of room to fight the next crisis with interest rates unable to go lower, the BIS warns

The world will be unable to fight the next global financial crash as central banks have used up their ammunition trying to tackle the last crises, the Bank of International Settlements has warned.

The so-called central bank of central banks launched a scatching critique of global monetary policy in its annual report. The BIS claimed that central banks have backed themselves into a corner after repeatedly cutting interest rates to shore up their economies.

These low interest rates have in turn fuelled economic booms, encouraging excessive risk taking. Booms have then turned to busts, which policymakers have responded to with even lower rates.

Thanks Obama. You’ve been a real world leader when it comes to economic malfeasance.

On Monday “The Supreme Court Case That Could Upend Obama’s Climate Agenda” did just that. Remember, Obama’s Second Term Is All About Climate Change is what we were told by the Obama apologists.

Also on Monday, Obama’s illegal illegal immigration diktats hit the greasy skids:

Two judges who dealt a significant blow to President Barack Obama’s executive actions on immigration last month will again play key roles in deciding whether the controversial programs are legally sound.

Fifth Circuit Court Judges Jennifer Walker Elrod and Jerry Smith, both Republican appointees, in May ruled against the Obama administration’s request to proceed with the executive actions — which would protect more than 4 million immigrants here illegally from being deported — while the larger case on the legal merits of the new programs winds through the courts.

And on July 10, they’ll both again hear arguments from Justice Department lawyers and officials from more than two dozen GOP-led states who have sued to stop the immigration actions, when the Fifth Circuit takes up the broader legal case.

June is not over yet. On the last day of June expect the Obama “O-bomb to Iran” talks to explode as well. All the rationales posited by the incompetent, treacherous boob Barack Obama have blown up like a Bikini atoll nuclear test. Still Barack Obama is not done helping Iran get a nuclear bomb. Barack Obama is not yet done nuking America.

This all spells disaster for #Hillary2016. We warned years ago that Hillary2016 needed to become a “time for a change” campaign. Instead Hillary2016 has tied itself to Barack Obama. The consequences of such a catastrophic decision begin to be seen by all but the blind.

ObamaCare is a healthcare disaster as well as an economic disaster. The ObamaCare “victory” of last week means an economic catastrophe for Hillary2016:

The economics of Obamacare are very bad. The law is inflicting broad damage on job creation and new business formation. It ruins job incentives by making it pay more not to work, thereby intensifying a labor shortage that is holding back growth and in turn lowering incomes and spending.

And across-the-board Obamacare tax increases are inflicting heavy punishment on investment — right when the U.S. economy desperately needs more capital as a way of solving a steep productivity decline.

Because of Obamacare, there’s an additional 0.9 percent Medicare tax on salaries and self-employment income, a 3.8 percent tax increase on capital gains and dividends, a cap on health care flexible spending accounts, a higher threshold for itemized medical expense deductions, and a stiff penalty on employer reimbursements for individual employee health policy premiums.

Each of these tax hikes is anti-growth and anti-job.

There is so much talk about “secular stagnation,” inequality and stagnant wages these days. But there’s little talk about the negative economic impact of Obamacare. It’s a much bigger story than SCOTUS jurisprudence.

The worst is yet to come. Yet now Hillary2016 has tied itself, like Captain Ahab, to that Moby Dick.

Only 1 poll out of 189 has ever shown ObamaCare to be anything but a hated law. Now every health insurance disaster will be blamed on ObamaCare and Hillary2016 will be tied to that stink. In an attempt to make excuses for ObamaCare the ObamaCare lovin’ Huff n’ Puff Post tried to explain why ObamaCare is a bomb:

But the debate over President Barack Obama’s controversial health care law is likely to continue no matter how the justices rule. And one reason is that Americans, on the whole, remain deeply ambivalent about it.

While the popularity of “Obamacare” has fluctuated a bit in the five-plus years since it became law, the amazing thing is how little public opinion has changed. [snip]

The best guess is that people are holding the law responsible for all of the problems of the health care system — including those like rising deductibles, narrowing hospital networks, or even long waits at the doctor’s office that most experts believe have little or nothing to do with the law itself.

Opinion on ObamaCare is hardly “ambivalent”. ObamaCare indeed, contra what those ObamaCare pimps try to excuse, is responsible for making the heath insurance markets a bigger mess than ever. Both ObamaCare supporters and ObamaCare critics (who knew ObamaCare would be a disaster) all agree that the American “people are holding the law responsible for all the problems of the health care system”. And guess who is now left holding the bag full of sh*t? Hillary Clinton and Hillary2016.

On last week’s Supreme Court gay marriage decision, Hillary2016 is also in a mess. Consider, both on ObamaCare and gay marriage – the very two reasons Politico considers the Obama presidency “reborn” – Hillary gets a bag stuffed with sh*t and no benefits. Why?

The political reality for Hillary2016 is that on neither gay marriage nor ObamaCare does Hillary2016 profit. In fact on gay marriage and ObamaCare Hillary2016 gets deeper in sh*t. That’s because on neither of these issues does Hillary2016 get increased enthusiasm or greater support. For those supporters of gay marriage as their #1 issue it’s effectively over and they still might vote for Hillary2016 but it is a less urgent matter. Probably zero gay marriage supporters will change against Hillary2016 to pro-Hillary2016 based on this issue. On ObamaCare, few people will say “now that ObamaCare is upheld I will vote for Hillary.” Quite the contrary.

The political reality for Hillary2016 is that last week was GOP turnout-palooza. Those that oppose gay marriage are now ready to vote with a vengeance in 2016 against Hillary2016.

It gets worse on the issue of the Confederate flag for Hillary2016. As has been reported repeatedly people are lying to pollsters because they don’t want to be attacked for politically incorrect views. But then when they get to the polling booth they express themselves with alacrity. Guess what those who want to celebrate Southern traditions and wave the Confederate flag will do in 2016. They will emit politically correct sounds now but in 2016, watch out. Here comes Denmark, and Great Britain, and GOP 2014.

At one point Hillary2016 could have gotten white working class votes. As the Confederate flag goes down, so do Hillary’s chances with the white working class constituencies in states such as Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Indiana, North Carolina, and many others. In some of these states Hillary2016 had no real chance anyway but that Florida panhandle area right next to Georgia will harbor grudges as they persist waving the Confederate flag.

All the Obama economic contagion? Guess who will pay the price?

It’s been a horrible month for Barack Obama and it’s not over yet. For Hillary2016 the tsunami waves from that sinking presidency threaten to sink it as well.

  1. Even Republicans/conservatives that deride Trump see the rise:

Two easy predictions, then. One: Every hack newspaper in America will feature a “You’re Fired!” headline for this story tomorrow. Two: Not only will Trump pay no price with populists for having long associated with a network as reviled on the right as NBC, he’ll actually get a bump in the polls now that they’ve declared him persona non grata. Everyone wins — NBC gets bouquets from SJWs for cutting him loose, Trump gets to revel in being the media’s new public enemy number one, and the media itself gets a sweet little gotcha to pester the other candidates with this week. The only loser, as usual, is the Republican voter.

Exit question: Odds that Trump will actually be leading the GOP field by the time of the first debate in early August? I’d say 50/50.

Yep. If the Supremes overturn Obamacare, then the issue becomes a sledgehammer on the Republicans. Now, it’s a turnout issue for them.

Likewise, gay marriage is off the table, no longer a wedge issue to beat Republicans over the head with. Now, it’s just a religious liberty turn-out issue and the turn-out it will drive won’t be the Obama base.

These two decisions were a blessing for the Republican prez candidates.

  3. On such a news heavy day, Trump grabs a chunk of the coverage. Here’s Trump demonstrating how to respond to a Big Media attack:

Donald Trump’s statement about NBC hits ‘lying’ Brian Williams

After NBCUniversal severed its relationships with Donald Trump on Monday, the billionaire businessman and presidential candidate responded by invoking suspended NBC anchorman Brian Williams and threatening to meet NBC in court.

    Here is Trump’s statement:

“As of today, Donald J. Trump is no longer affiliated with NBC. Mr. Trump stands by his statements on illegal immigration, which are accurate. NBC is weak, and like everybody else is trying to be politically correct— that is why our country is in serious trouble.

We must have strong borders and not let illegal immigrants enter the United States. As has been stated continuously in the press, people are pouring across our borders unabated. Public reports routinely state great amounts of crime are being committed by illegal immigrants. This must be stopped and it must be stopped now. Long ago I told NBC that I would not being doing The Apprentice because I am running for President in order to Make our Country Great Again.

“If NBC is so weak and so foolish to not understand the serious illegal immigration problem in the United States, coupled with the horrendous and unfair trade deals we are making with Mexico, then their contract violating closure of Miss Universe/Miss USA will be determined in court. Furthermore, they will stand behind lying Brian Williams, but won’t stand behind people that tell it like it is, as unpleasant as that may be.”

At HotAir they upped the chances of Trump being #1 on August 6 debate day to 60% – 40%

  4. Silence = Death? Now it’s Gay = Racist

Little noted story has been one of the #blackLivesMatter crowd angry at gay marriage decision because, they claim, the gay marriage decision takes away the spotlight from #blacklivesmatter

This was all crazy enough while it was restricted to the internet. On Sunday, the crazy went to the gay pride parade in Chicago:

PANDEMONIUM at Chicago Gay Pride Parade!! ‘Black Lives Matter’ disruption, 2 people SHOT, car hits people?!! [snip]

What the hell?! “Rainbows are just reflected white light”!!! LOL!! Gay pride is raaaaaaaaaacist!!!

You’ll have to go to the website linked for pictures and youtube. We’re not about to document this craziness on this crazy day with so many other crazy problems.

  5. Tell it like it is Admin…
We all thought Hillary was so brilliant. I’m thinking, maybe so, but she doesn’t have street smarts.

  6. Love that Trump. The anti-politically correct.

It’s a long time until the election but Hillary better wake up, fast.

What is going on in Greece should be a lesson to us all – our civil freedoms are tied to our economic freedoms.

What we are seeing in the market is a controlled “crash”. The central banks are short on firepower but the Swiss Bank stepped in on the Eurozone to keep it under control. Now that their Chinese debt virgin has become an old whore with contagions, they will have to take a 10-20% adjustment to prevent losing control entirely. That means that the DJIA would need to lose 2000 – 3000 points. Trouble in Greece and China is a good excuse. So what you are seeing with the DJIA losing 350 points may go on all week and still be a contolled/manipulated market. They are just letting air out of the balloon. A great excuse for more QE that will end up in the pockets of the 1%. That too will fail.

Now if you see the DJIA go under 15000, start to worry.

The Financial Industry should be a service industry that supports productivity and the creation of wealth. Banks are not good creators of wealth. And not a single banker I have ever know of, is fit to run the world. This goes back to the NWO crap and how the USA would be the center of the financial industry. Yea, just shut those factories all down. Bunch of mad gooney birds the lot of them. The magical thinking of greed and something for nothing.

So sorry for decent people who get caught in the mess, but today when the markets fell, all I could think was “Burn, motherfuckers, burn!”

  7. Well, another thread to digest and keep myself from going into the black hole of depression over.

Where is Waldo MO? She is probably off trying to get someone to to buy her a new castle, so she can leave Stinky as soon as the is kicked the Hell out of office.

Bear market grips Chinese stocks as investor panic grows

Shanghai and Shenzhen indices lose £1.6trn in paper value in just 17 days

China’s stocks turned into a bear market on Monday, as frenzied selling continued in the country’s bourses despite the Beijing central bank slashing interest rates at the weekend in order to calm investor nerves.

On Saturday the People’s Bank of China cut its one-year lending rate by 25 basis points and lowered its reserve requirements for some commercial banks by 50 basis points in order to boost lending in the wake of heavy falls in equity markets last week.

But the easing seemed to have little impact as the Shanghai composite index closed down a further 3.3 per cent on Monday. That took the benchmark index a fifth lower than its peak on 12 June, fulfilling a common definition of a bear market.

  9. Shadowfax,

We only have this day. Do not spend it being troubled. Get strong for the future.

I am not going to avoid the fact that we will be facing tough times. Things will change. But not necessarily the way Ofucktard thinks. The economy will become the overwhelming topic.

I tell you truthfully, I feel so much better with Trump in the running. Win, lose or draw, I feel that somebody powerful is speaking for me. That is not Hillary right now. You know, maybe Trump is saying for her what she cannot right now. It is a long time until election day.

The best revenge is living well.

  10. I am also soooo glad Trump is out there “telling it like it is”….sorry Chris Christie…Trump is alreadying ‘telling it like it is’ you need to find another slogan…too little too late…

Hillary just seems MIA to me…and when she does say something it is Obama 3 expansion…

    big sigh…

  11. Bear market grips Chinese stocks as investor panic grows
This sounds like a job for the big media beloved messiah

After all, he told us early on that the was an economist

And when it comes to bear markets, Obama is the biggest bear market in history.

In all aspect of national failure, including foreign policy and the US economy.

So when someone says bear market, Obama says you rang?

He must be the bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral.

  12. I know what you mean Shadow. But I think Lu’s advice on how to deal with this situation is sound.

  13. Admin: your analysis is accurate.

Her campaign strategy should be one of addition.

Building new constituencies off the democrat base.

Instead it is one of subtraction.

She will lose many Obama votes because she is not Obama.

She will lose many independent votes because she embraces Obama’s toxic policies.

The only way it makes sense is if they can turn out the democrat base and cheat.

Cheating could account for a 5% increment in the general election.

But the independents account for at least 30% of the electorate which is far short of the popular vote.

Could they cheat their way to a victory in the electoral college.

But how would it look if she lost the popular vote by 20% and won the electoral college

Big media would be ecstatic but the nation would not be.

And there would be no mandate to govern, other than a highly artificial one.

In sum, as we have all said at one time or another, the longer she clings to Obama

The more likely it becomes that she will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

  14. At one point I was naive enough to think that the sale of NBC by GE to Comcast would purge their toxic coverage, and cheap manipulative journalism. But history has shown that NBC has gotten even worse under Comcast. They are a functional monopoly, their principles are corrupt people including the one who just died, and their culture is death to America and hail to the global village. In 5 years, through the mysteries of crony capitalism they expect to have cable service in Antarctica to regale penguins on those long winter nights. That business expansion will be financed by taxpayers, and the profits will go to Comcast and their executive officers in the form of bonuses. The douchebag president of NBC is Steve Burke who was formerly a top officer at Comcast. Last year his salary was just under $25 million and his other perks were in excess of $58 million all combined. He is a Harvard remitance man and hi father was president of ABC Capital Cities. The only good thing comcast has done was eject that Neanderthal Jeff Zucker who is running the CNN Asylum. The level of incest of the current political class–politicians, lobbyists, big media, etc. is so high that it is off the charts.

  15. Whether you are a democrat, an independent or especially a republican, I have one world of advice for you as you watch our country decline and ponder who you should vote for.

They are a snare and a delusion.

    Twice they made such promises,

Twice people voted them into office, and

    Twice they broke their word,

    Enriched their donors, and

    Fucked over the very people

    who believed them

    And voted for them

    First in 2010

    Second in 2014

Just as treason must be punished

The base should reject the calls for party unity

    By people like Roger Simon

Who urge us to ignore what Roberts did

    And just vote Republican

Because they will solve the problem

One would have to be an idiot to believe that

There is too much water under that bridge

The only logical decision is to destroy and

    Rebuild the Republican Party

To pursue the welfare of the people

As opposed to the welfare of big business.

  16. There are only three hills to die for in that party:

In no particular order: Cruz, Lee, Sessions

They impress me because to them the welfare of the people is sacrosant

Whereas to the RINO the welfare of the donor class is paramount.

  17. every day, it seems, another reason not to support Hillary. an email I received yesterday.

  19. The AGENDA of big media is clear and unambigouos: they seek to hide what is important and elevate that which is trivial–the more trivial the better. Fortunately, there is Richard Fernadez and a few others who pierce that veil and give us the real picture. What we are left with is a foreboding view of the future, and the unmistakable image that we are all on a single tracks with a freight train coming at us with bells and whistles our elites ignore. We may still be a great nation, but under Obama that is fading fast. And when we ask who will save the country the answer is no one. The elites have no respect for the country and when Armageddon comes they will abandon the battlefield for safer venues like General Gates did in the revolutionary war. If all we have to lead us is another RINO, DINO or some other scion of the ruling class we will soon see that an army of lions led by a eunuch is not an army of lions.

A sense of palpable depression came over conservative America after the Supreme Court upheld Obamacare subsidies and decided that gay marriage was a constitutional right. Many felt as if the America they knew and loved had been abducted by space aliens and replaced with something new and hostile. In contrast to this emotional devastation the left seemed buoyed by euphoria.

“Look ma, I’m on top of the world!” Yet over the same period the liberal landscape fell apart even faster. The last decade has witnessed a vertiginous decline in Washington’s economic, political and military power. The economic engine of liberalism was dying under them, sustained only by the vapors of deficit spending and illusionism.

Its political dominance was being challenged by totalitarian regimes in China and Russia. Even the triumphant tide of liberal values was being offset by the rise of neo-Nazi parties in Europe and the spread of Islamic ideas throughout the world. Justice Kennedy’s decision was answered in the real world by the Turkish police breaking up the Gay Pride parade in Istanbul. Elsewhere its adherents were experiencing rapid descents from multistory buildings in without the benefit of an elevator at the hands of ISIS executioners.

If the world that conservative Americans once cherished has diminished; it has not been as rapid as the shrinkage of the liberal universe. Both aspects of old world are dying never to come back. The post World War 2 era of Franklin Roosevelt has nearly run its course. The difference is that the conservatives are more aware of its passing and may become more active in building what replaces it.

A miniature representation of the crisis is being acted out in Greece where the left is embarked on a Battle Royale against reality. With reference to reality ‘we refuse to accept it,’ says the Greek government, vowing to block expulsion from the Euro. There are no reasons, no math, no proofs that 1+1 2. Just refusals. Insistence has taken the place of facts, and is uttered in the confidence that Someone will provide it. Yanis Varoufakis, the finance minister said:

“We are taking advice and will certainly consider an injunction at the European Court of Justice,” he told The Daily Telegraph.

“The EU treaties make no provision for euro exit and we refuse to accept it. Our membership is not negotiable.”

The defiant stand came as Europe’s major powers warned in the bluntest terms that Greece will be forced out of monetary union if voters reject austerity and reform demands in a shock referendum on Sunday.

Not that lawyers can restock the ATMs, the supermarkets or the gas stations. All they can produce is paper, of the kind the Supreme Court decisions are written on. But paper has its limitations — once past the world of paper Greece is being ripped apart as a sacrifice to the European fantasy. It seems like Greece must die so the narrative may continue live as explained by Ivo Daalder, president of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, in an NPR interview. Obama was working to keep Greece in the EU because it is part of the Plan.

ROBERT SIEGEL, HOST: Washington wants Europe to work out a deal that keeps Greece in the eurozone that is using the common currency. President Obama has called German Chancellor Merkel. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew has spoken with Greek Prime Minister Tsipras. Why are the highest-ranking figures in Washington working the phones so ardently? What’s in it for the U.S.? … Why is it so important for the U.S. to avoid a so-called Grexit – a Greek exit from the eurozone?

DAALDER: Well, Greece … been a member of NATO since 1952 … and if the Greeks were to leave the European Union, or even the eurozone, there is a fear in Washington … particularly at a time when we see a growing confrontation with Russia, that Washington is saying this is probably not the time to shake up the system … Potentially you can see the Orthodox getting together and saying these are the kind of traditional values that – you hear that already from Russians and from President Putin – that need to be strengthened against the immoral values that are coming from the West … it’s that kind of thinking that I think we need to prevent from happening by not pushing Greece in the direction that it’s moving.

The Plan must be saved. The EU project and “progressive values” are a project that is too big to fail. Therefore it will be saved. Yevgeniy Feyman described how deceptive paper victories can be. He writes, “King v. Burwell is in the history books. Subsidies on federal exchanges will continue to flow and supporters of the ACA will (correctly) see this as a big win for the president. But to pretend that this means smooth sailing for Obamacare from here on out would be disingenuous at best.”

Federal backstops for insurers (risk corridors and reinsurance) will disappear after 2016, likely resulting in significantly higher premiums on the exchanges. Additional changes to how subsidies for premiums are calculated in beginning in 2019 also threaten to push more premium costs onto consumers. The exchanges have also largely failed to attract younger enrollees, and middle-class enrollees have been frozen out by (unsubsidized) Obamacare-sticker shock.

The Supreme Court just upheld a program that will bankrupt the treasury and send the health insurance industry into a death spiral. “Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.” That’s what Greece is learning now, after the “victory” of entering Europe.

Saving these sacred cows will come at the cost at a high cost. George Selgin at Cato writes “if you think that the Fed isn’t involved in the Greek mess, you may want to think again. Paul-Martin Foss, our good friend at the Carl Menger Center, wrote a very nice post a few days ago concerning how the Fed may be getting itself tangled-up in an impending Greek default, through its swap lines with the ECB.”

According to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, those swap lines were first established in December 2007 “to improve liquidity conditions in U.S. and foreign financial markets by providing foreign central banks with the capacity to deliver U.S. dollar funding to institutions in their jurisdictions during times of market stress.” … but then, in October 2013 — what do you know! — they were made permanent. … What has all this got to do with Greece? Here is Paul-Martin: “If you want to get a sense of the Fed’s involvement in Europe, watch the swap lines. … even if the Fed doesn’t say anything about Greece, its money-printing to pump up the swap lines will do plenty of talking.”

Greece illustrates how incredibly fragile the liberal world order has become. That one small, almost insignificant European country has the potential to wreak major damage on the entire world economic system is terribly frightening and gives lie to all the bombastic claims about claims to being the wave of the future.

Conservatives shouldn’t feel too bad about the Supreme Court’s decisions. It’s the liberals who are living a house of cards. If liberals were rational they would making alliances with conservative Christians, Third World Roman Catholics, Orthodox Christians and that favorite sector, the moderate Muslims to fight godless Communism and radical Islam. To paraphrase Casablanca, “I wouldn’t bring up transgendersism and gay marriage in Tunisia, where hotel workers tried to defend their guests with ashtrays and bottles against the ISIS gunman, if I were you. It’s poor salesmanship.”

But they don’t care, they’ll do it even though it costs them. Do it because there was always someone to pay for things; someone to fix what they broke. Therfore they will destroy Greece in order to save it as they will ruin Puerto Rico in order to prop up Democratic economic policies. Max Ehrenfreund at the Washington Post explains:

Alejandro García Padilla, the governor of Puerto Rico, is expected to say publicly Monday afternoon that the government of the island territory cannot pay its debts. The consequences could be serious both for the island and the rest of the United States. …

Puerto Rico has been doing worse than the rest of the country for the past 15 years. The economy began to contract in 2007, a couple of years before the economy collapsed on the mainland.

It’s no surprise that people have been leaving Puerto Rico if they can. The population is declining at an alarming rate of 1 percent per year. …

The report cites one surprising problem: the federal minimum wage, which is at the same level in Puerto Rico as in the rest of the country, even though the economy there is so much weaker. There are probably some people who would like to work, but because of the sickly economy, businesses can’t afford to pay them the minimum wage.

Someone working full time for the minimum wage earns $15,080 a year, which isn’t that much less than the median income in Puerto Rico of $19,624.

The report also cites regulations and restrictions that make it difficult to set up new businesses and hire workers, although it’s difficult to know just how large an effect these rules might or might not have on the labor market.

A report by the New York Fed also suggests that Puerto Rico has a relatively large underground economy employing a big part of the population. These workers aren’t taxed or counted in formal employment numbers.

In any case, it’s relatively expensive to hire and pay workers in Puerto Rico, which along with the high cost of transportation, energy and other goods, means that fewer tourists are planning trips to Puerto Rico than they were a decade ago and the number of hotel beds is the same as it was four decades ago, according to Krueger and her colleagues.

PR has a Caribbean level of productivity and a Washington DC level of bureaucracy, a grotesque combination rivaled only, with the possible exception of Chicago, by something like Greece with its pastoral body upon which the Brussels regulatory machinery has been grafted. Both are struggling in their mutant state but in any such clash of interests it’s the island which must die so that the greater bureaucracy can survive.

Their sacrifice will not be enough to save the post-war world, however. If conservatives are disturbed by the changes shaking their universe, their vision is at least unobstructed by the Narrative, which is blocking the sight of a freight train bearing down the Western liberal elite. When it hits, boy will lots of people be surprised.

The more perceptive individuals are already beginning to feel the rails vibrate beneath their feat and are inquiring into the cause. Paul Krugman wrote a few days ago that “it has been obvious for some time that the creation of the euro was a terrible mistake. Europe never had the preconditions for a successful single currency — above all, the kind of fiscal and banking union that, for example, ensures that when a housing bubble in Florida bursts, Washington automatically protects seniors against any threat to their medical care or their bank deposits.”

Maybe Krugman can tell Obama about the “obvious” Euro mistake. Perhaps he thinks the freight train crushing Greece will pass the other set of rails. Wait till he realizes there’s only one set of tracks in the globalized world they’ve made.

  20. I think it is fair to say that Roberts and Kennedy have earned themselves the unenviable status of persona no grata among all people who respect the constitution and what it stands for. Their betrayal of their oath, and their duty to the Constitution have been breached in ways that will be remembered 100 years from now. If vodoo was my thing, I would strongly consider putting a curse on both of them. Roberts was a known commodity. Kennedy was a complete surprise, since in the first decision on Obamacare, he was the one who was sent by the conservative block to talk Roberts off the ledge. And although his effort was unsuccessful, it was reasonable to assume that he would not abandon the conservative block this time around. There must be bad vodoo somewhere in this mix, because these two behaved like zombies.

  21. There’s an endless supply of bad news:

ISIS executes women by beheading for the first time as the group kills two married couples for ‘witchcraft and sorcery’ in Syria

The appalling execution took place yesterday in eastern Syria
The jihadi group have previously stoned women to death for adultery
ISIS in Libya executed a sorcerer for owning a manuscript linked to magic

More information and pictures of these charming Muslims at link.

It’s like the gates of Hell flung open and the worst of the worst escaped, and came back to earth to show how really evil human’s can be.

They really get turned on by murder and suffering.

May they get sucked back to Hell and roast for an eternity.

  23. Chris Christie announcement going on right now. Thus far the speech sucks. Christie is trying to combine “let’s work together” with “I’m tough”. He comes off as full of hot air.

When Christie needed to be tough he folded. If he would have talked and acted “tough” when it mattered and on behalf of the people he coulda been a contender. But now he’s just a palooka.

    A bum.

  24. When Walker appears at the next Red State gathering, I expect that he will be cross examined closely over this improvident decision.

For your info HWC this asshole Dayspring is a Hayley Barbour man, and I have no doubt that is who recommended him to Walker.

Walker is a stealth candidate for the Republican establishment and this hire confirms it.

  25. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3143982/Michelle-Obama-promote-education-trips-Japan-Cambodia-UK.html

Michelle Obama says she’ll do more foreign travel to promote education for girls in developing countries.

The first lady announced a new program earlier this year to help adolescent girls improve their lives by attending and staying in school called, ‘Let Girls Learn.’

She since has traveled to Japan, Cambodia and London to promote the initiative and even stopped to have tea with Prince Harry.

When did Japan and Great Britain become “developing” countries. We were not aware that education for girls (or boys) suffered in Japan and London. Japan and London should send their educators here to help us.

Michelle Obama just wants to get away from “Stinky” and carouse on the taxpayer dime.

  26. WBB,
I actually *do* like Cruz based upon what I’ve seen so far. I do notice you have a tendency to announce certain individuals, from time to time, and present them as, “Here, THIS is a person …” I believe you are an honest person, WBB, and also believe you are an intelligent person. So I have a problem reconciling your not infrequent endorsements of individuals as representing nearly an embodiment of an ideal practitioner of whatever it is you hold them up to be. As I regard you, unquestionably, to be honest, I don’t understand how you seem to not recognize that ALL of these people are liars. Put no faith in any man as they will never fail to disappoint. A great example of that is seen here with the heart broken supporters of HRC. It’s just man’s nature.

I can see why you are confused.

On the one hand, I try to be pragmatic.

On the other hand, I look for that faint glimmer of light that could announce a new beginning.

I have said on prior occasions that they all have feet of clay.

Nevertheless, they have the power, we don’t and at the very least we must find the lesser of the two evils.

If you believe in the constitution, bill of rights, and states rights then Ted Cruz is a good option.

I happen to believe in those things, and nothing else.

  28. In order to save the nation, I believe you have to break up the republican party. If that happens, it will unleash similar forces on the other side of the aisle, much as that seems impossible now. The thesis-anti-thesis-synthesis would be two very different parties. One would be the internationalist controlled by business interests based in Washington. The other would be an America First party based in some impregnable fortress in the hinterland. True liberals and true conservatives would gravitate to the latter. Billionaires, financiers, and welfare state recipients the latter. That would eliminate the current paradigm where the Republican Party is an extension of the chamber of congress, pretending to represent the people. That undercover role was blown when the party repudiated the promises it had made to win the election, paid back their donors, and raised the limits on contributions that could be made to a political party.

  29. McConnell and Boehner are paragadimatic examples of what I am talking about.

They are universally despised not because they are republicans.

The reason they are despised is because they are complete whores for sale to the highest bidder.

  30. Ted Cruz was for the TPP before he was against it…
    That I will grant you.

I seriously doubt that he was aware of what was actually in it.

Even though he said he read it.

I would rather believe this was the result of poor staff work by his legislative assistance.

There is too much evidence that cuts the other way, showing that his commitment to the Constitution is for real.

If you want to take the analysis a step further you can go to his book.

He was for Karl Rove before he was against him.

But he never sold his soul to Rove the way so many others did, including Rubio.

  31. I do notice you have a tendency to announce certain individuals, from time to time, and present them as, “Here, THIS is a person
If you are talking about presidential candidates, I believe there are four I have turned to based on the belief that they could set the country in a positive direction:

    1. Hillary in 2008

    2. Webb

    3. Carson

    4. Cruz

Would it suit your fancy if I was more monogamous?

  32. WBB,
HA! No, I was not referring particularly to Prez candidates – I’ve noticed with regards to lawyers, judges, reporters, etc.. It’s not an inconsistency, it just seems incongruent that someone as ostensibly sophisticated / experienced as yourself would make such sweeping, laudatory endorsements of any individuals – especially in light of your apparent extensive experience with politicians and the circles they run in. They’re con-men – it’s what they do.

  33. http://www.politico.com/story/2015/06/elizabeth-warren-bernie-sanders-119582.html

Elizabeth Warren won’t rule out endorsing Bernie Sanders

Elizabeth Warren says it’s “too early to say” whether she’ll hit the campaign trail in support of her Senate colleague Bernie Sanders.

Bernie’s out talking about the issues that the American people want to hear about,” the Massachusetts Democratic senator told the Boston Herald Monday.

She did not rule out the possibility of campaigning for the Vermont senator, nor would she comment on the prospect of supporting other Democratic candidates like former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley or presumptive front-runner Hillary Clinton.

Bernie is there on the issues,” Warren said. “That’s what matters to a lot of people.”

I love what Bernie is talking about,” she added.

  34. Pretty good piece by O’Reilly.

If Sanders favors a 90% tax on the elites, I cannot fault him for that.

On that issue he may be an angry loon, but he is my kind of loon on that issue.

Like Fakeahaunus, I love what Bernie is talking about, as long as the cash cow is the elites.

Starting with Brokaw and his crowd.

Hey Tom, fork over your cash.

If you do that you could stop writing about the greatest generation. You could become part of it–you greedy motherfucker.

Huntsman Sr. is an interesting guy.

Net worth $1.1 B and he plans to give it all away before he dies.

    That is cool.

Just like the guy I know in Texas who owned that oil well that produced 500 B barrels of top grade crude oil.

    Same story.

But the jet setting elites, the DAVOS crowd, that is the group we need to gouge against their will.

They are the ones who are bankrupting the middle class.

They can afford to fork over 90% of their earnings.

And if they get too snooty about it, why not make they give up their entire net worth.

  35. Ted Cruz was for the TPP before he was against it…

He’s not “against” the TPP. He has said that he is strongly in favor of free trade and will make a decision on TPP if and when there is a final agreement to judge.

  36. Bernie is there on the issues,” Warren said. “That’s what matters to a lot of people.”
    Oh yes it does.

    It gives them HOPE.

Therefore, let us get on with the task of looting the elites, so the black lives matter group can be more hopeful.

Obama asks (axs in the venacular): Are you in?

My reply: Oh yes, I’m in.

You are not listening to what he is saying.

    He is for free trade.

He is not for TPP– as written.

It is bad for the nation.

Too many last minute backroom deals.

And an infringement on our sovereignty.

As Casey Stengel said: look it up.

Before you go too far with the god is dead hypothesis, I would highly encourage you to read Stonewalled. If you are a political junkie like me, it is a treasure trove and a key that unlocks all the mysteries. She is fantastic. She give ME of all people hope. Not hope for a bigger welfare check that Obama is peddling, but hope that self government remains a possibility if we are given the facts, and the reason she gave up a lucrative career was because she valued freedom and liberty over a pay check. Please read that book. I beg you.

But he never sold his soul to Rove the way so many others did, including Rubio.

The slime oozes from that one, doesn’t it?

WRT Cruz / TPP – IIrc, he was in favor of whichever one of those TPP/TPA/WTF bills granted fast track authorization to Congress, and he was reserving support for substantive provisions until there was something to actually be voted on. There’s no inconsistency in that – but it’s been passed off by the leftist blogosphere as being an inconsistency either because they are disingenuous (we know that’s the case) or they’re too stupid to understand the distinction (or some combination of the two).

Are you talking about Rubio—or Cruz.

If it is Cruz then I disagree.

That question was posed to him at a tea party forum. He said he had read the bill, but had not studied it. He said it looked like a typical trade bill. He said he would support it for that reason. Later, he reversed himself because he discovered there were too many dirty backroom deals, and he felt it would not be good for the American worker. I buy that explanation, but that does not mean you must. The other factor that weighed in on his decision was the fact that Mitch the Bitch McConnell lied to him about abolishing the Export Bank which is the by product of crony capitalism.

The best blogger at Red State pointed this out thusly:

  41. No. It was the TPA fast track authority that Ted Cruz was for before he was against it. He voted for it the first time in the Senate and then voted against it the second time when it came up as a separate vote.

I don’t think TPP will be finalized for a vote in Congress before the Nov 2016 elections. Too much of a political football in both parties. Looks like a lame duck session after the election to me.

Bernie shouldnt get too excited Warren’s statement. ‘t doesn’t appear to be a difficult thing to give her hope. She had only to hope really hard that she would become an American Indian – and … ALAKAZAM … She did.

  44. The big news isn’t Fauxcahontas sending smoke signals in support of pale-face white man, but rather her failure to heap wampum on Hillary Clinton.

When Senator fails to endorse the party’s presumptive nominee, pearls must be clutched and questions must be asked.

  45. BTW, I started reading Ted Cruz’ book last night. I know all my big pink fans are breathlessly awaiting book reports…. 🙂

  46. The real problem is we are not what we pretend to be.

This summation by Larry Johnson draws this problem into high relief.

    Under Obama the Jackal:

We lack the toughness and discipline required to defeat a real military like the Russians or the Chinese. We delude ourselves with the fantasy that technology gives us the edge yet cannot stop a group of Chinese hackers from running off with the personal information of more than 18 million Americans. Hell, we do not even have enough Navy ships to haul Marines. We actually are entertaining using the ships of other countries. We are just jerking ourselves off. Masturbating, pretending that we’re having consensual sex with the man or woman of our dreams. Yet, when the climax comes we are all alone.

We are too stupid to show humility or wisdom. Instead, we are busy provoking a needless, juvenile conflict with Russia. Oblivious it seems to the risk of thermonuclear war. We went to the mats back in 1962 when the Soviets sent missiles to Cuba–a mere 90 miles from our shores. Today we are sending so-called “missile defense” systems to the border of Russia. All in the name of peace, of course. But such weapons systems are anything but inert, defensive, do nothing systems. When you can take out another countries missiles then you have the ability to take offensive action.

Let’s just light up the White House in Rainbow Colors and celebrate are grandiosity. We will focus on Climate Change as the greatest national security threat. We will sell out our children to corporations eager to make money off of standardized testing without doing anything to advance that actual educational level of our youth. We will convince ourselves that black lives matter, we will even make it a crusade, but will conveniently turn our eyes away from the actual massacre of blacks in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia and Detroit. We will pat ourselves on the back for our technological prowess while remaining utterly and totally depend on Russia for a rocket ride to resupply our astronauts on the International Space Station. In short, we will focus on meaningless symbolic gestures and repeatedly lie about our reality. We will give ourselves a participation ribbon and celebrate as if we were Bruce Jenner and had just won the Decathlon. Or is it Caitlyn?

What a couple of dishonest people, Cruz and Katie. Since when is Hillary responsible for what ‘some of her supporters’ say?

I do believe that the BC Obama has put online is a false, Photoshopped version of God knows what…and it was proven to be so, many moons ago.

Cruz using it against Hillary is just pure deceit. He can go to Hell.

  49. Okay, so if Cruz is now a ‘natural born citizen’, although his father was a Cuban and he was born in Canada, his mother living in Canada at the time, was an American citizen…I beg the question:

If a foreign woman is implanted with the egg of an American citizen, is the child from that egg automatically a ‘natural born citizen’ too????????

  50. Shadow, I have problems with that too – it’s the same basis they claim for Obama – his mother was an American citizen (supposedly – as I’m sure you’re aware, there are factual twists which make that questionable as well).

  51. Blow

I agree…Barry was not a natural born citizen, or they wouldn’t have had to doctor a Birth Certificate for him, and Hawaii would have made his ‘real’ BC public just to prove it.

That’s why Cruz bring up this whole BC issue and blaming it on Hillary, stinks to High Heaven with me. Like he picked Katie, the dumbass Obot to try and discredit Hillary, while he is walking a tightrope on whether he is eligible in the first place.

  52. There have been several Presidents and Presidential candidates who were not born in the US. George Romney was born in Mexico. John McCain was born in the Panama Canal zone.

“Natural born citizen” means a US citizen from birth as opposed to someone who gets citizenship (becomes “naturalized”) at some later point in life. Cruz was the son of a US citizen mother and, therefore, was US citizen at birth and would have been even if he had been born in Kenya.

Since when is Hillary responsible for what ‘some of her supporters’ say?

Since the day she announced she was running for President. Being blamed for everything by opponents in race kinda comes with the territory.

  53. BTW, thanks for the Ted Cruz interview link. I’m really enjoying the Cruz interviews this week. I have no idea if he’ll be elected President or when, but he’s a crazy intelligent guy and a great talker. It’s fun to listen to an articulate politician who takes stands and defends them effectively.

  54. Cruz, Trump, natural born citizens – all in one package:

Via Mediaite. “Are they mostly drug dealers and rapists coming across the border?” asks Steve Doocy, referring to the buzziest bit from Trump’s presidential announcement. Well, no, says Cruz. They’re not mostly that. But let’s not miss the forest for the trees. Illegal immigration’s a serious problem and Trump calls it like he sees it. I applaud him for his candor. Remember: This is the same guy who, not long ago, went on Megyn Kelly’s show and wondered aloud whether a natural-born Canadian like Cruz could really be eligible to run for president of the United States. Now here’s Cruz killing him with kindness. How come?

  55. Baaawwwaaa haaaa haaa. I love listening to Cruz parry with these lefty media types. He makes their heads explode.

“Yes, Katie. I did go to Princeton and Harvard. My father refers to my time up there as missionary work….” 🙂

Please God, make her ask him what magazines he reads….:)

  56. I was referring to the Katie Couric interview with Ted Cruz. She definitely qualifies as a “lefty” in my book.

He is incredibly disciplined in staying on message and not getting sucked into gotcha questions. His turning Katie’s gotcha birther question into a Hillary hit was brilliant.

I feel like we have lost at every turn since 2008…

    That’s because we have.

If the whole amnesty fiasco goes out of the hands of 26 states and the courts, to the Supremes again, that will be another ‘win’ for Obama/& the thugs in Congress and a loss to American citizens.

  58. This article was published by the establishment rag Politico. It purports to be a book review of A Time For Truth. In fact, it is a sophomoric hit piece on the author, Senator Ted Cruz. It is written by an overly ambitious young writer who plays fast and loose with the truth. This is hardly surprising since that particular defect is the imprimatur of Politico. Consequently, I have take the liberty of editing out the snark, and the self flattering unction of the 29 year old author who presumes to tell us how Washington always works. If you want to see the entire article I have attached the link. But here are the provisions that are factual. They lift the curtain on the corruption which is endemic in Washington generally, and in the Republican leadership specifically, and Mitch McConnell in particular. First, the try to buy you off. Second, when that does not work, they move heaven and earth to destroy you.

In his new book A Time For Truth, Senator Ted Cruz accuses Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and GOP leadership of maneuvering to dry up his fundraising and plant hit pieces in the press aimed at hurting him politically.

He explains how GOP leaders cowered from joining him in big fights over the debt ceiling, Obamacare and gun control, accusing his colleagues of “mendacity” and capitulating to Democrats to avoid bad headlines.

He reports that McConnell misled him in vowing to stay out of primaries when Cruz accepted a senior-level position at the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

And he reveals how a GOP rival, Rand Paul of Kentucky, of parroting McConnell’s talking points by seeking to “undermine” his efforts to defund Obamacare during the 2013 fight that led to the government shutdown.

“During my time in the Senate, I’ve been amazed how many senators pose one way in public — as fiscal conservatives or staunch tea party supporters — and then in private do little or nothing to advance those principles,” Cruz writes in his 342-page book.

And in the opening chapter of his book, Cruz calls out McConnell and his GOP colleagues for “chicanery” by publicly opposing an increase in the borrowing limit while privately trying to let the debt ceiling increase in 2014 without their fingerprints. When he told a California GOP donor in 2014 about the debt ceiling dispute, Cruz recalls the donor saying repeatedly: “The bastards.”

“In the 2016 primary, you’re going to have 15 candidates up there going, ‘I’m conservative. No, no, I’m conservative.’ And what we see is they go to Washington and they don’t do what they said they would do,” Cruz told NPR Monday in an interview about his book. “I think the question Republican primary voters should ask is,

‘When have you stood up against the Washington cartel? When have you stood up against leaders in our own party?’”

(Naturally) Don Stewart, a McConnell spokesman, declined to comment.

“Sometimes, people ask me, ‘When you have a room full of Republican senators yelling at you to back down and compromise your principles, why don’t you just give in?’” Cruz wrote. “The answer is simple. I just remember all those men and women who pleaded with me, ‘Don’t become one of them.’”

In his book, Cruz writes that immediately after he won his 2012 Senate race, McConnell made a “concentrated effort to befriend me.” Cruz said he was “wary,” but “glad to reciprocate.” He joined McConnell on an official trip to Afghanistan and Israel and was the GOP leader’s guest at the 2013 Alfalfa Club Dinner. McConnell awarded Cruz with plum committee assignments — even a spot on the Senate Rules Committee, which is typically reserved for more senior members.

As an added bonus, McConnell named him vice chairman of the NRSC, the main committee aimed at protecting incumbents and winning Senate seats for Republicans. In Cruz’s telling, McConnell wanted to enlist Cruz as an emissary to the tea party and had “promised that the committee would stay out of primaries from here on out.”

When the NRSC began to back GOP incumbents in contested primaries, and help other Republicans it favored in open seats, Cruz said he “stopped asking donors to support” the committee.

“It was yet another lesson: Assurances in Washington come with an expiration date.”

Cruz, a Harvard Law graduate and former Texas solicitor general, says many of his colleagues lack a background of a litigator and let witnesses off the hook during oversight hearings. “Unfortunately, many senators are wholly untrained in this area.”

Indeed, Cruz doesn’t hide his contempt for the press, accusing McConnell’s team of going to POLITICO and The Wall Street Journal editorial pages with negative stories about him. This — compounded with what he said were threats from GOP leaders to K Street and big-spending political action committees not to help him out — were meant to send him a message, Cruz wrote.

Cruz said “once I demonstrated that I would stand up to party leadership,” members of the GOP leadership warned K street and PACs they would be “frozen out” if they continued to support him.

McConnell and Cruz’s relationship took a hit in May 2013 when the Texas freshman refused to allow House and Senate negotiators to meet for conference negotiations on the budget. He believed they would use it as a backdoor way to raise the debt ceiling. It went further south that fall when Cruz demanded that any spending bill to keep the government open also include provisions to defund the health care law — a dispute that led to the 16-day government shutdown.

What made things worse was that Cruz helped raise money for the Senate Conservatives Fund, a group trying to defeat GOP senators like McConnell in primaries. (After the shutdown, Cruz privately told his colleagues he would no longer fundraise for SCF.)

Cruz bashes his colleagues for their unwillingness to join his push to defund the health care law, many of whom saw it as a poorly conceived idea that had no chance of success.

“Imagine what would have happened if the Republican Senate leadership had simply decided … let’s support House Republicans,” Cruz said. If Cruz had just listened to GOP Senate leaders, he wrote: “We will never stop Obamacare. .. At every stage, their plan was to avoid the fight.”

To make his point, Cruz launched a floor speech for 21 straight hours in late September 2013. During the marathon speech, Cruz said he and Utah Sen. Mike Lee were surprised that Paul seemed intent on hurting his effort.

  59. Supreme Court Disasters
    Thomas Sowell | Jun 30, 2015

Many people are looking at the recent Supreme Court decisions about ObamaCare and same-sex marriage in terms of whether they think these are good or bad policies. That is certainly a legitimate concern, for both those who favor those policies and those who oppose them.

But there is a deeper and more long-lasting impact of these decisions that raise the question whether we are still living in America, where “we the people” are supposed to decide what kind of society we want, not have our betters impose their notions on us.

The Constitution of the United States says that the federal government has only those powers specifically granted to it by the Constitution — and that all other powers belong either to the states or to the people themselves.

That is the foundation of our freedom, and that is what is being dismantled by both this year’s Obamacare decision and last year’s ObamaCare decision, as well as by the Supreme Court’s decision imposing a redefinition of marriage.

Last year’s Supreme Court decision declaring ObamaCare constitutional says that the federal government can order individual citizens to buy the kind of insurance the government wants them to buy, regardless of what the citizens themselves prefer.

The Constitution gave the federal government no such power, but the Supreme Court did. It did so by citing the government’s power to tax, even though the ObamaCare law did not claim to be taxing.

This year’s ObamaCare decision likewise ignored the actual words of the law, and decided that the decisions of 34 states not to participate in ObamaCare Exchanges, even to get federal subsidies, would not prevent those federal subsidies to be paid anyway, to Exchanges up by the federal government itself.

When any branch of government can exercise powers not authorized by either statutes or the Constitution, “we the people” are no longer free citizens but subjects, and our “public servants” are really our public masters. And America is no longer America. The freedom for which whole generations of Americans have fought and died is gradually but increasingly being taken away from us with smooth and slippery words.

This decision makes next year’s choice of the next President of the United States more crucial than ever, because with that office goes the power to nominate justices of the Supreme Court. Democrats have consistently nominated people who shared their social vision and imposed their policy preferences, too often in disregard of the Constitution.

Republicans have complained about it but, when the power of judicial appointment was in the hands of Republican presidents, they have too often appointed justices who participated in the dismantling of the Constitution — and usually for the kinds of social policies preferred by Democrats.

Chief Justices appointed by Republican presidents have made landmark decisions for which there was neither Constitutional authority nor either evidence or logic. The first was Earl Warren.

When Chief Justice Warren said that “separate educational facilities are inherently unequal,” he was within walking distance of an all-black public high school that sent a higher percentage of its graduates on to college than any white public high school in Washington. As far back as 1899, that school’s students scored higher on tests than two of the city’s three white academic public high schools.

Nevertheless, Chief Justice Warren’s unsubstantiated assumption led to years of school busing across the country that was as racially divisive as it was educationally futile.

Chief Justice Warren Burger, also appointed by a Republican president, gave us the “disparate impact” notion that statistical disparities imply discrimination. That notion has created a whole statistical shakedown racket, practiced by government itself and by private race hustlers alike.

And now Chief Justice John Roberts, appointed by George W. Bush, gives the federal government the power to order us to buy whatever insurance they want us to buy. With that entering wedge, is there anything they cannot force us to do, regardless of the Constitution?

Can the Republicans — or the country — afford to put another mushy moderate in the White House, who can appoint more mushy moderates to the Supreme Court?

  60. The crazies have taken over. Pity New York City:

Bill de Blasio signs law to ban employers from asking job candidates about criminal history

In front of emotional supporters, Mayor de Blasio signed legislation Monday that will prohibit employers from inquiring about a candidate’s criminal record prior to a job offer.

“Today I see hope for people like me,” said Marilyn Scales, 52, of the Bronx, who said she never has had a full-time job because of her record for dealing heroin.

Lawsuits against businesses when workers steal credit card numbers or worse. More lawsuits will follow any business that does not hire those with criminal records.

This is what a business will now have to do:

The law takes effect 120 days from Mayor Bill de Blasio’s signature of approval, which by all accounts the Mayor is expected to provide very soon. Beginning on that date, covered employers must follow a three-step procedure for inquiries about an applicant’s criminal history:

    1. First, the employer must issue a written copy of the inquiry in a manner to be determined by the New York City Commission on Human Rights (the “Commission”). Although the law is silent about whether the Commission will issue a mandatory inquiry form or simply prescribe requirements for such inquiries, employers will at least need to tailor their criminal history inquiries accordingly.

    2. Second, before a conditional offer of employment is revoked, employers must provide the applicant a written copy of its analysis of the criminal history, including the reason(s) it revoked the conditional job offer and the supporting documents that formed the basis of the employer’s decision, e.g., the criminal history results.

    3. Finally, the employer must allow the applicant a reasonable amount of time—no less than three business days—to respond to the revocation of the job offer, during which time the employer must hold the position open for the applicant.

Only after a job offer can the employer ask about a criminal record, and then… well more lawsuits against the business no matter what. If the business hires, customers will eventually sue the business for hiring a criminal. If the business does not hire, the criminal record applicant will sue. The businesses in NYC are screwed.

  61. Darn. No roasted MRFR’s today. The central banks have those presses rolling. China has been down and up 5% on a daily basis. That is like the DJIA swinging 900 points. If we do not see that 10% drop soon it is a bad sign they are going to push the system to total collapse. There is apparently some kind of belief that the system has an “escape velocity” and there is a book by that name, whereas you get past all the earthly constraints of business. I mean these people in charge are loons.

If you want to keep an eye on them, here is a good article from David Stockman on how we may end up bailing out Europe:

The Greek crisis is dominating headlines this week, and promises to be the most important economic and financial topic of conversation through the weekend and into Monday. Neither the Greek government nor the European Central Bank (ECB) seem to be prepared to give an inch, and there’s every indication that things could come to head next week. If Greece does default, and if there is a resulting crisis in European markets, will the Federal Reserve get involved? To quote Sarah Palin, “You betcha!” How would the Fed do this? Read on to find out.

  62. If Hillary wants to do something for main street, here is where she can start. The tool of income inequality, the FED. Sponsored by Barack Obama.

For seven long years the Fed has aggressively defended a monetary policy regime explicitly designed to inflate the type of assets most likely to be concentrated in the hands of the wealthy.

Despite the protestations of the man under whom these policies were implemented, the gap between the rich and everyone else has grown in post-crisis America. For evidence of this look no further than latest data on US household income, which shows that while the 0.001%, the 0.01%, the 0.1%, and the 1% have all nearly recovered their pre-crisis share of the national income, the bottom 50% of US filers’ share is not only lower than it was in 2007, but is in fact lower than it was in the depths of the crisis.

For further evidence of the ballooning wealth divide, simply consult the St. Louis Fed, where researchers recently opined that the American Middle Class “is under more pressure than [anyone] thinks.” The related study shows the fate of Middle Income America diverging sharply from that of the country’s “thrivers” (the name the Fed gives to society’s upper echelon).

And while those who, like Janet Yellen, understand how important it is to accumulate assets are doing quite well thanks to multiple iterations of unbridled money printing, the “wealth effect” — which was supposed to be the transmission mechanism whereby trillions in central bank liquidity would find its way to Main Street — simply never materialized. So, with housing becoming more unaffordable by the day and wage growth stagnant for 83% of workers, the San Francisco Fed apparently decided it was time to think about redistributing some of the hundreds of billions the FOMC has generated for America’s ultra rich in order to help out the have-nots and jump start consumer spending. Spoiler alert: after careful consideration, the bank decided redistribution probably isn’t worth the trouble. Here’s more:

    * * *

From The Stimulative Effect Of Redistribution

The idea of taking from the rich and giving to the poor goes back long before the legend of Robin Hood. This kind of redistribution sounds desirable out of a sense of fairness. However, economists often judge a policy less on whether it is fair, and more in terms of whether it is efficient or inefficient, as well as whether it stimulates or slows economic activity.

The starting point for our simple estimate is the Consumer Expenditure Survey, which gives an annual picture of complete consumption patterns for U.S. households. The solid black line in Figure 1 plots the share of income that households consumed in 2013. The survey ranks households by income from low to high and divides them into 10 groups called deciles, with the 1st decile showing households in the bottom 10% of the income distribution, and the 10th decile showing households in the top 10%. Spending is then averaged for each decile of the income distribution. The shaded areas below the solid line reflect the share of income spent on different major expenditure categories.

The figure suggests that households at the lower end of the income distribution spend more than twice what they make. At the upper end, households spend about two-thirds of what they make. Given this large difference in the propensity to consume between low- and high-income households, we consider the economic impact of levying a $1 tax on the rich and transferring it to the poor. This would reduce the high-income household’s spending by about $0.66 and increase the low-income household’s spending by $2, assuming each group spent additional dollars at their average rates. On net, it would create an increase in spending of more than $1.25. Even if the average for households in the bottom decile is overstated and they simply consume all the income they make, Figure 1 suggests every $1 of redistribution from the top earners to the bottom one-third of the income distribution would boost spending by at least $0.33.

There are still two main reasons why this result overstates the stimulative effect of redistributing income.

By definition, income equals consumption plus savings. In addition to the consumption and income data we used to calculate the propensity to consume in Figure 1, the Consumer Expenditure Survey also contains data on household savings. One can calculate an alternative measure of propensity to consume using the sum of consumption and saving as the measure of income rather than the income reported in the survey. The resulting alternative profile of the propensity to consume across the household income distribution is shown by the dashed black line in Figure 1. This alternative measure results in a flatter profile of the propensity to consume than the conventional measure, largely because the estimates for low-income households are much lower. The revised estimates suggest these households report consumption and savings levels that are consistent with a substantially higher income than they report in the survey. At the other end of the distribution, high-income households tend to underreport their consumption, especially for basic items like food. This results in an understatement of their propensity to consume (Aguiar and Bils 2011).

Combining the measurement biases at the lower and upper ends of the income distribution suggests that the actual profile is much flatter than the initial one we discussed.

Our discussion of the permanent income hypothesis touched on the importance of access to credit for household consumption levels relative to income. If households have access to credit then they are able to smooth their spending in response to a temporary negative shock to income. Even if they do not have access to credit, households can still self-insure by setting aside savings to cover expenses in times of unexpected income losses. In both cases, peoples’ consumption decisions are driven mainly by their permanent income, and so a high propensity to consume in 2013 may simply reflect a temporary loss of income. The fact that households at the low end of the income distribution can consume substantially more than they earn may also suggest that they have more access to credit than is apparent. In this case, the simple back-of-the-envelope calculation may overstate what fraction of additional income these households would consume.

There is evidence that differences in propensities to consume this additional income across households are smaller than commonly assumed.

To summarize, the San Francisco Fed took a stab at quantifying whether a small levy on the rich would have an outsized impact on the propensity of the lower and middle classes to spend, and once they determined that the answer was probably “yes”, they went back and adjusted a few things to ensure the data was an ‘accurate’ representation of reality only to determine that in fact, people’s propensity to spend doesn’t really vary that much across tax brackets, so therefore, redistributive policies probably wouldn’t do much for the economy after all. Conclusion: it’s probably just as well that the rich keep that dollar as opposed to giving it to the poor.

  63. The businesses in NYC are screwed.

I wonder this law applies to job applicants for positions in day care centers, schools, and other child caring institutions. If so, I hope parents and child advocates are raising hell.

  64. …next we will see Sanders stating and declaring that he will choose Elizabeth Warren as his running mate when he gets the nomination…

    just watch…it is coming as a ruse…

  65. if Sanders favors a 90% tax on the elites, I cannot fault him for that.

On that issue he may be an angry loon, but he is my kind of loon on that issue.

How will the people with money create jobs and create new businesses with jobs, if they only get to keep 10% of what is actually their own money…?

  66. Barack had colored lights deface the White House

admin, IMO, “deface” is really harsh….

  67. Cruz using it against Hillary is just pure deceit. He can go to Hell.

Shadow, I remember reading an article a loooong time ago that said Hillary was having her people look into his citizenship. Hillary supporters were really encouraged by that. Although like everything else, Teflon Man walked away unhurt…

  68. There have been several Presidents and Presidential candidates who were not born in the US. George Romney was born in Mexico. Mitt Romney was born in *Detroit*. John McCain was born in the Panama Canal zone.

Romney’s *father* was born in MX, not Romney. His father had become a US citizen before Mitt was born (unlike Rubio, who was born here before his parents were citizens).

McCain was born in a hospital that was not on the military base (American land), so he wasn’t born on US soil. The Congress only wrote that position paper on him saying he was qualified, to try to head off complaints about Obama.

“Natural born citizen” means a US citizen from birth as opposed to someone who gets citizenship (becomes “naturalized”) at some later point in life.

“Citizen” means a US citizen from birth vs naturalized. “Natural born” is a category exclusively for presidents. It’s *more* than mere birth in the US. The constitution uses citizen and natural born – if they were the same thing, there would only be one word, and presidential qualifications wouldn’t have the special terminology.

  69. There was one president who faked something (a long ago president) about both of his parents being citizens – one actually wasn’t. I can’t remember the president’s name. And of course Obama has now set the precedent that you no longer need 2 parents to be citizens when you are born (which was what we were all taught throughout school B.O. – before Obama).

The only presidents I’m aware of who were not born in the US were those who couldn’t be born in the US because we had no official country yet. That’s why the constitution says:

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President…

No one alive when the constitution was written could be “natural born”, because there was no USA yet when they were born. Therefore, they were eligible merely by being citizens. But thereafter the presidents had to be natural born.

  70. the gap between the rich and everyone else has grown in post-crisis America

…seems like a natural step on the way to socialism, as in socialism, everyone gets pretty equally poor, and only a minority (usually politicians) are rich… So this development may not bother Barky…

  71. grrrr… from above, revised, because I screwed it up

There have been several Presidents and Presidential candidates who were not born in the US. George Romney was born in Mexico. John McCain was born in the Panama Canal zone.

Romney’s *father* was born in MX, not Romney. Mitt Romney was born in *Detroit*. His father had become a US citizen before Mitt was born (unlike Rubio, who was born here before his parents were citizens).

  72. (sigh) first paragraph should also be in italics, meaning what I’m quoting, not what I’m saying… The html didn’t transfer when I copied and pasted… sorry…

  73. How will the people with money create jobs and create new businesses with jobs, if they only get to keep 10% of what is actually their own money…?
    Not his problem.

    That is other people’s problem.

The ones who have already parked their money on the sidelines.

His job is to make people as angry as he is.

    Howling mad Sanders.

The moral equivalent of the Marine Corps general Howling Mad Smith.

And to exploit the upper class, just as they have been exploiting the rest of us.

He wants them to sell their third Mercedes, tone down their caviar intake, stop ring knocking.

In essence, get in the same life boat as the rest of us–or should I say Noah’s Arc.

He is sick of crony capitalism—and so am I.

Because the American worker is not the beneficiary.

It is all political theater, but at the moment I am loiving it.

Like Mad King Lear howling at the heavens.

He spooks the elites, and there is nothing wrong with that.

He shakes their confidence that they are masters of the universe.

And, at the moment, Hillary has the big donors locked in.

  74. Actually he locks in the Gordon Geckos for Hillary, and diminishes the candidacy of the data man of Tarzan from Baltimore. Yes, it is a total waste of time and ink. But what else is there, other than Obama’s destruction of the country, which no one seems to care about.

  75. Barack had colored lights deface the White House

admin, IMO, “deface” is really harsh….
Do you not see the racial symbolism?

  76. In assessing the merits of the attacks on Hillary, one must be careful to put them in the right category.

    1. category 1: blatantly partisan attacks which have no basis in fact.

    2. category 2: attacks which although partisan have merit. (what the opposing party can be expected to do)

    3. category 3: self inflicted wounds—like the destruction of email.

You can defend Hillary against all three attacks if you like. But you will lose credibility in the process.

The best way to proceed is to defend her when she is right, or when the issue is honestly debatable.

  77. Correction: category 2: attacks which although partisan have “some” basis in fact. (This is what the opposing party can be expected to do. RECENTLY HOWEVER BIG MEDIA HAS ASSUMED THIS ROLE AS WELL, AND IT ATTACKS REPUBLICANS EVERY TIME–BECAUSE THEY ARE WEAK.)

  78. George Romney was Mitt Romney’s father.

George Romney was born in Mexico to US parents.

George Romney was a presidential candidate. He was the pre-race favorite over Nixon in the 1968 cycle while he was serving as Governor of Michigan, but collapsed before the primaries got underway. He withdrew in Feb 1968 before the NH primary.

  79. There is an article at red state about a kind of snake that eats its own tail, i.e. Ouroboros, which bears a striking resemblance to the left. The end game of their labor of love after they have devoured you is cannibalism of their own which ends either when there is no one left to eat—shades of the Donner Party, or when a bigger bully enters the picture–shades of ISIS. With the clash between gay pride activists and black lives matter zombies, we have entered phase two, and now we must eagerly await the arrival of phase three.
So we now have a hierarchy of whose lives truly matter. It looks like some of the biggest pigs on the diversity farm have now decided some of the animals are more equal. Equality, everywhere it is tried is synonymous with failure. Everyone who claims to represent equality is lying through all of their teeth. When people gang up for equality, they have generally singled out somebody else’s butt that they intend to use for an ATM. Aaron Clarey brilliantly explains why this always has to be the way the Left self-immolates.

Understand one simple thing about “socialism” “leftism” “liberalism” “communism” or whatever you want to call it. It is nothing more than the lazy of society demanding the hard working and industrious be their slaves. It is NOTHING more complicated than the parasites of society demanding the producers support and pay for them. I don’t care how many pages “Das Kapital” is. I don’t care how many millions of hours the thousands of liberal arts professors lecture. And I don’t care how many trillions of words they and the MSM write in journals or “research studies.” At the end, when you boil it down, ALL leftism is is a group of lazy people who don’t want to work for a living and want to live off of other people. That’s it. That’s all. That one sentence summarizes the libraries worth of socialist literature throughout all of history. Socialism is parasitism.

And what do the parasites do when they’ve finished eating your lunch and the very intestine that held it? They still remain hungry. There has to be another “oppressor.” So now it’s the Civil Rights Government Industrial Complex versus the Big Pink. The winner gets to pig out like Pigford. The loser ends up being the Duke Chute end of the snake on that stylish Ouroboros bracelet.

There is an end to all this stupid, mindless cannibalism. There is an atavistic force of malevolence which simply will not have time for these special snowflakes and their quasi-articulate whinging crap. The Offense Bullying gets stifled when the real bullies show up. I don’t exactly think any practicing homosexual activists in Nineveh were asking ISIS if they could have the magical right to fly off the top of a tall building’s roof. Eventually, the idiots on the Progressive Left will realize this and then the bloody madness will abate.

  80. Lorac, “deface” was the right word. “Scorch” would have been too harsh.

The White House is not a billboard to be used for political purpose. Ditto all the national monuments.

The White House is also the people’s house even though Obama recently referred to it as his house (ironically Obama said this to justify throwing out a heckler at a White House political event – the heckler was an illegal immigrant who was transgender).

The way we think about these matters is to put ourselves in other shoes. Imagine if the Republicans after 2014 had the Capitol doused in red lights to celebrate their victory. That would have been as insulting as what Obama did with his colored lights.

Those who applaud the defacing of the White House because they agree with the political issue are short-sighted at best.

Imagine if a Republican wins in 2016 and decides to celebrate a political victory by doing what Obama did. Picture an ObamaCare repeal and the White House covered with disco lighting in celebration. Or imagine if the Republican president signs into law a religious freedom law/amendment which legalizes any public official or citizen to completely discriminate in any facility public or private against gay people based on freedom of conscience – then the White House is lit like Obama did then it fades back to white in an attempt to mock gay rights supporters.

Obama defaced the White House in order to spit on the faces of those whose position is exactly the position of what Obama said he believed throughout 2012.

  81. Behind the RINO curtain darkly. The RINO pretends that Obama is the enemy. But when you look behind the curtain, what you see is the real enemy of the consultant and lobbyist driven RINO is none other than you and me, as this article makes crystal clear:

After his defeat, Politico revealed that Cantor and Obama, among others, had been literally days away from advancing amnesty on the House floor until Brat’s win killed the project.

Brat’s savvy move to expose the event before it started got him national press for the first time, and this was about the time Mark Levin — America’s top-selling political author and a syndicated radio host with nearly 10 million daily listeners — jumped in with both feet. Brat was invited to appear on the show several times, and Brat’s name recognition, fundraising, and volunteers jumped.

Without Levin’s support, Brat very likely doesn’t sink Cantor, and Congress passes Obamagration.

So Levin stepping up is a big deal.

As I’ve been reporting here, those of you with better things to do than gain privy to the behind-the-curtain GOP primary process — we hold our nose and peek in so you don’t have to — might not be aware that the dirty tactics employed by the Cantor team last year are simply how today’s GOP leadership/consultant class chooses to operate in every single primary featuring a reliable John Boehner foot soldier vs. a conservative challenger.

They act with disdain for election integrity, for local government, and for the GOP voter who wants nothing more than an honest portrayal of the choices being presented.

On the advice of groups like Republican Main Street Partnership, they deliberately lie about being opposed to GOP leadership, about bearing conservative viewpoints that run contrary to their records, and about their always-less-funded challenger from the right being a moderate or liberal in John Locke’s clothing, while knowing that description is a precise reading of their own strategy.

Despite their self-measurements, they are in fact nothing new. Just the latest iteration of each era’s power-hungry. Hayek, the Federalist, Shakespeare, the Bible.

You know what they do — and you also know that if they are to lose, the truth spread wide is invariably the culprit.

  82. Obama defaced the White House in order to spit on the faces of those whose position is exactly the position of what Obama said he believed throughout 2012.

I absolutely agree that colored rainbow lights are a defacement to the People’s House, and besides the political issue, it is downright hood – tacky.

Then again, possibly having our first bisexual president…maybe the glee was too difficult to control for Barry.

  83. Imagine if the Republicans after 2014 had the Capitol doused in red lights to celebrate their victory. That would have been as insulting as what Obama did with his colored lights.

Or, god forbid, red, white, and blue lights to celebrate the 4th of July. Can you imagine the outrage in Washington?

  84. Hillary is in a dominant position. $45 million in fundraising for the first quarter. Plus whatever her SuperPAC took in. Since she’s already wrapped up the nomination, she’ll be able to turn her financial clout on the Republicans over the next 12 months, preparing the battlefield for the general election.

  85. A poll is just a poll….

Poll: Bush, Trump rising nationally for GOP, but both trail Clinton

Bush stands at 19%, up from 13% in May — and his best showing in CNN/ORC polling since December. Trump follows at 12%, up from 3% before his announcement. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (8%), neurosurgeon Ben Carson (7%) and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul (7%) round out the top five.

Notably absent from this top five — though statistically speaking not far behind — are Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (6%, down from 14% in May) and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (6%, down slightly from 10%). Both had been top five candidates in each of the last two CNN/ORC polls, and Walker had been in the top five since February.

  86. According to the CNN poll, the election is all but over. Clinton clobbers all the potential Republican nominees by nearly 20%. There’s no way that the Republicans can close that gap.
