Martin O’Malley’s Data Driven #BaltimoreRiots

Update II: Martin O’Malley hurts nonexistent presidential chances with Baltimore visit. O’Malley’s Benghazi? Hillary has questions to answer about what happened on 9/11/12. O’Malley has to answer for Baltimore:

Back in Baltimore, Martin O’Malley is heckled, and could face political fallout

BALTIMORE —Former Maryland governor Martin O’Malley was heckled on a packed street corner in West Baltimore on Tuesday, after he cut short a trip to Europe to return to the city he led as mayor for seven years.

O’Malley (D), who is preparing to launch a White House bid, waded into a crowd near the burned-out shell of a CVS pharmacy that was destroyed and looted Monday night. He was confronted by two men on motorcycles who shouted expletives and blamed the recent violence in the city on O’Malley’s tough-on-crime policies from 1999 to 2007. [snip]

In his travels to early nominating states, O’Malley has described Baltimore to Democratic audiences as a down-on-its-luck city that came to believe in its potential again while he was mayor. He has trumpeted progress made during his tenure, including a steep drop in violent crime, which is attributed in part to a zero-tolerance approach that led to a sharp increase in arrests. [snip]

It sure isn’t going to help him,” said Gene Raynor, a longtime O’Malley critic who was a close friend of the late Baltimore mayor and Maryland governor William Donald Schaefer (D). “I think it does reflect on him.”

During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Tuesday, former Republican National Committee chairman Michael S. Steele accused O’Malley of contributing to a poisoned atmosphere in Baltimore. Steele, a former Maryland lieutenant governor, said tensions had simmered for a long time and got worse during O’Malley’s tenure as mayor. [snip]

On the street corner Tuesday afternoon, O’Malley displayed a wide smile as he shook hands and posed for selfies with some residents. A team of aides accompanied him through the crowd, as reporters and residents questioned him about his administration’s policing policies.

F— that, this is his fault!” screamed a man who followed along on a red motorcycle as O’Malley and the crowd that surrounded him moved down the street. “Do you know who he is? Why would you shake his hand?

Shake hands with the Devil. Is O’Malley a data-driven KKK racist? By Barack Obama campaign standards (we mean by that Al Sharpton race-baiting smears “standard”) there can be no doubt that O’Malley is a racist!

Don’t blame us for calling O’Malley a RACIST! – we’re following the new post 2008 Obama/DailyKooks standard for calling someone a racist.

Update: We get results. Martin O’Malley cancels his paid speeches and returns to the scene of the crime – his Baltimore. Decades of Martin O’Malley “leadership” lead to Obama-like failure. Martin O’Malley is not fit to be mayor of any city let alone president:

Washington (CNN)Democratic presidential contender Martin O’Malley is canceling a series of paid speeches in Ireland and returning to his riot-scarred home city of Baltimore on Tuesday morning, his spokeswoman said late Monday. [snip]

O’Malley has made his time as Baltimore’s mayor a key part of his pitch for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination. He touted it in a recent speech to the Polk County Democrats in Iowa.

He said when he ran for mayor in 1999, Baltimore was the “most violent, most addicted, most abandoned city in America,” and that he “set out to make our city work again, to make the dream true again.”

“Together, in other words, we put into action that powerful belief that, that in our community, there is no such thing as a spare American. That we are all in this together,” O’Malley said. “Over the next 10 years, Baltimore went on to achieve the biggest reduction in part one crime of any major city in America.

Martin O’Malley’s legacy:

—————————————————-

Martin O’Malley wants to be president. Look to Baltimore, Maryland to see the future. Live video: Protesters throwing rocks, bricks at cops in Baltimore during Freddie Gray demonstrations.

Baltimore, Maryland has a black police chief, black deputy police chief, over 40% black police force, and a black woman mayor. The F.B.I., headed by a black woman is “monitoring” what is going on. The black president presumably is still hung over from his rage filled race-baiting at this past weekend’s whorehouse called the White House Correspondent’s Dinner.

We’re told today that the Baltimore Riots are “years in the making”. The governor for those years? Martin O’Malley.

Martin O’Malley will offer himself to the nation on the basis of his brilliant “data driven government”:

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) believes he has discovered a “new way of governing” that could revolutionize Washington.

Throughout his political career, O’Malley has been obsessed with data. Now, he appears to be mulling whether to mount a potential primary challenger to 2016 front-runner Hillary Clinton. If he does run, it seems his devotion to performance metrics could become a major part of his platform.

“It is not like the old way that was very often hierarchical, and bureaucratic, ideological — orders from on high that eventually make it to the bottom of the pyramid,” O’Malley recently told Business Insider in his Annapolis office, which is adorned with historic paintings and war memorabilia. “It’s relentlessly interactive. It is performance-measured.”

Martin O’Malley is a data pimp with a performance in office that deserves to be measured. O’Malley loves his data:

“We took measurable actions to reduce storm-water runoff and to expand the number of acres planted with winter cover crops, to upgrade clean technology at all of our sewer treatment plants,” he says. “We reduced nitrogen, phosphorous and sediment levels by 14, 15 and 18 percent, respectively.”

Before O’Malley was governor, he was mayor of Baltimore — and, he says, he implemented “the 48-hour pothole guarantee. And our crews actually hit that guarantee, and they hit it 97 percent of the time, and each of the members of those crews got a thank-you note from the mayor when we did it.”

Martin O’Malley loves to attack Hillary Clinton. O’Malley has been so busy on that front he has not had time to visit his data driven home of Baltimore. O’Malley loves to criticize Hillary for what he himself does:

Former Maryland governor Martin O’Malley, who’s been busy traveling to early presidential nominating states, is diverting overseas for a few days to make some money for his family.

The Democrat is scheduled to deliver a series of paid speeches in London and Dublin the first part of the week on topics including data-driven governance and renewable energy, according to aides.

Since leaving the governor’s office in January, O’Malley’s income has come primarily from such speeches, as well as a teaching arrangement at the business school at John Hopkins University in Baltimore, where he lives.

O’Malley is too busy to comment, let alone take responsibility, for the mess in Baltimore, where he currently lives and made his bones as mayor.

To his credit, Martin O’Malley did teach his data driven techniques very well while at Baltimore. The criminal gangs of Baltimore use Martin O’Malley’s data driven theories to run riot and pillage:

Gangs vow to target police as Baltimore protests spread

It’s like a movie starring Barack Obama and Martin O’Malley:

Violent rioting rages across Baltimore

Violence and looting overtook much of West Baltimore on Monday, seriously injuring several police officers and leaving a store and several vehicles in flames. [snip]

Smoke filled the air as police responded with shields and a tactical vehicle. Demonstrators pelted officers with rocks, bricks and bottles and assaulted a photojournalist, and officers fired back with tear gas and pepper balls.

Demonstrators set a police vehicle ablaze at North and Pennsylvania avenues. Nearby, they looted a CVS drug store, which store officials said had already closed, before it caught fire. Rioters cut the fire hose as firefighters battled the blaze.

The unrest spread toward downtown, with looting along Howard and Centre streets as afternoon turned to evening. Another group of people was destroying property around North and Fulton avenues, police said. [snip]

The incident stemmed from a flier that circulated widely among city school students via social media about a “purge” to take place at 3 p.m., starting at Mondawmin Mall and ending downtown. Such memes have been known to circulate regularly among city school students, based on the film “The Purge,” about what would happen if all laws were suspended.

Lawless and data driven by social media.

The criminal gangs of Baltimore use social media and data to block certain streets and target police:

Residents and commuters are being urged to avoid parts of Baltimore as a large riot continues to grow violent Monday afternoon.

Baltimore Police say seven officers, including one who is unresponsive, have been injured.

Police have sprayed mace and used tear gas to stop the riots, but a large group of teenagers continued to throw bricks, rocks and other items at officers.

The group is currently looting businesses, including a CVS in the area of North Ave. and Pennsylvania Ave.

Police are urging all parents of Baltimore to locate their children and bring them home, as the riots consist of a large number of juveniles. [snip]

A police car was set on fire at North Ave. and Pennsylvania Ave. and drivers are advised to avoid the area. [snip]

The Baltimore Police Department said earlier in the day they received a credible threat that numerous gangs have entered into a partnership to “take-out” law enforcement officers.

According to the department, they have received credible information that various gangs including the Black Guerilla Family, Bloods and Crips have entered into the partnership.

Martin O’Malley should be proud. His thugs and gangs have learned their data driven lessons well.

Martin O’Malley should be proud. His black woman mayor of Baltimore has learned her O’Malley data driven lessons well:

The odd tactic of giving Baltimore protesters ‘space’ to destroy property

Sometimes a protest is just a riot camouflaged in self-righteousness. It might not start that way, and the actors might not think that it is. But nonetheless, sometimes it is.

A few miles from my apartment, the Miami neighborhood Liberty City has yet to shake the aftereffects of the 1980 riots that sprang from the acquittal of four officers in the killing of a black man. In California, neighborhoods and property values remain scarred from the Watts Riots in 1965 and the Rodney King Riots in 1992. More recently in Ferguson, Mo., the long-term consequences of a few nights of looting and burning are starting to be felt by residents and property owners.

So it makes sense, in a way, that facing a weekend of protests against the mysterious police-related death of resident Freddie Gray, that Baltimore authorities would be on edge.

What no one expected is what Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake admitted in a press conference on Sunday: that she asked the Baltimore Police Department to “give those who wished to destroy space to do that.

It’s Obama style “community organizing” supplemented with Martin O’Malley data driven “burn it down”.

Some will try to shift blame for the Baltimore riots to the recently elected Republican governor of Maryland (a Repubican governor in deep deep blue Maryland?/??? Yeah, that’s how great a governor Martin O’Malley was), not the black mayor nor the black police chief nor current Baltimore resident and former Baltimore mayor and former Maryland governor Martin O’Malley. But if the Obama lovin'”social justice” warriors of Baltimore are right that the Baltimore riots were years in the making, we have to look at who was in office for all those years. Yup, it was data driven away from his city as it burns, Martin O’Malley.

Here’s your data driven Baltimore future America, brought to you by Martin O’ Malley:

Obama, Japanese PM tour Lincoln Memorial. By Jordan Fabian
President Obama and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe toured the Lincoln Memorial in Washington on Monday, as the Japanese leader kicks off a historic, weeklong visit to the United States.

“This is an opportunity before the formal events tomorrow to spend time together one-on-one at a place of historical significance for the United States, as this month marks both the 150th anniversary of the Civil War’s end as well as President Lincoln’s passing,” the White House said in a statement….

Admin was prepared for Baltimore. Wish admin was potus.

  2. Admin: you are spot on about the perils of a data driven environment.

During the 1970’s the NYPD commissioned something called The Comstock Study which elevated the data on arrests and convictions over other issues like community relations. That data produced a perverse set of police behaviors, and caused them to be viewed as an occupying force, as opposed to an asset to the community. We are living with that today. Today, the more enlightened police are focusing not on inputs but on outcomes, which more beyond hard data to polling to measure community trust and satisfaction with the police. That in a nutshell is the problem with O’Malley’s approach. On the surface it appears to be objective, but just below the surface, it produces harsh results, and often times cheating. It is a technocrats approach which gives certainty to the bureaucrat and tyranny to the population. A humorous example related to me by the new police chief in the city that is home to microsoft. When he first took the job, he notice 3 of his squad cars parked outside the court house, running the plates of citizens who were summoned to court. The Comstock study of metrics suggested to them that those who were at the court house were more likely to have parking tickets. The police chief scolded the sergeant on duty and ordered him to pull those officers away from that and focus on the broader issues of public safety. O’Malley is a puetz.

  3. Dollars to donuts the black police chief and mayor are still wedded to the Comstock theory of policing.

  4. Geez, I read the Press Corps article on Obama’s “jokes”. What a horrible, nasty bigot. Too bad his voters did not know what he thought about them before the election. He is a disgrace to his country and both his races.

Yea, I dare say O’Malley was party to the Wallstreet deals that are bleeding Baltimore dry. People with nothing to lose. People with no hope. People with bad leadership.

Turn off their water and let them riot.

  6. I work in a data driven business and it is absolutely over the top and takes so much humanity out of medical practice.
Of course, in medicine you want best practice, but I head a committee that is data driven and the reports I have to publish monthly are nearly Master Thesis quality, and my end year reports are. This without any training or education in informatics, they just told me to figure it out. Common sense is so last generation.

  8. #baltimore riots
    #broken record

I feel bad for the honest people whose cars are being destroyed, but on the other hand, these are their sons who are doing this crap.

And once again, as in Ferguson, police are being told to stand down. These riots have to be stomped down, immediately, IMO. Otherwise, it’s “cool”, there are no consequences to most of them, and the broken record will continue, in a new city in a few months.

  9. I think it’s safe to say that Martin O’Malley is getting drunk tonight.

    ————————

Some fool was driving a stolen car back and forth through the fire then left it there to burn up. No worry I guess that it could have exploded on him. I’m starting to think a whole lot of these rioters we keep seeing were born to drug addicted mothers and have permanent brain damage.

  10. Sam Cooke. The King of Soul. If you have not heard of him, its probably because he was murdered at the Hacienda Motel on Sepulveda in Los Angeles in 1964, which was before your time. Even so, the motown crowd tried to sing like him, and he made his mark.

A data driven early July 4.

O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that data driven O’Malley was there.
Lighting a penny candle from a star.
Making his heaven in that dear land across the Irish Sea.
    Kissing the blarney stone.

  12. Some fool was driving a stolen car back and forth through the fire then left it there to burn up. No worry I guess that it could have exploded on him. I’m starting to think a whole lot of these rioters we keep seeing were born to drug addicted mothers and have permanent brain damage.

Reginald Denny to the rescue! Here’s my head. Pound on it for a change. I forgive you.

Incontrovertible proof that with a black mayor, a black police chief, and a majority black workforce, these chumps could not run a whore house in a gold rush. Annie get your gun.

Rassmussen is watching intently, predicting a big spike in O’Malleys numbers after this graphic portrayal of good government and public appreciation of all it does for them. Forgive me. I am stealing Obama’s talking points. Without them he would be lost. With them he will be lost.

  13. These riots have to be stomped down, immediately, IMO.
    ————–
    I agree.

We are setting a poor example for the 20 million illegals.

Whose own respect or lack thereof for the law is duly noted.

  14. I predict that Obama will proclaim these rioters to be victims of police oppression yearning to breathe free, and give them blanket amnesty provided they are black, and can prove it.

  15. O’Malley rushes in to quell the rioters.

    Nice political stunt.

Like they are going to listen to that old cracker.

  16. Any politician who can produce a viking funeral like we see in Baltimore has certainly earned my vote. Even if he does nothing else during his putative presidency, you can be sure that Marty O will put the independent fireworks salesmen out of business. How could they ever compete with what is going on now. Simple answer: they cannot. As Marty O would say, putting the torch to a city is not a job for amateurs. It requires an army of dopers, a scared police leaders and a data driven mayor who is impervious to logic, reason or the facts on the ground. A perfect sequel to that idiot Obama.

Matt Drudge REALLY likes Martin O’Malley

For close watchers of the Drudge Report — like me — there’s been an obvious trend of late: Martin O’Malley is getting A LOT of positive coverage.

This headline — and photo — above are from Drudge around 3 p.m. East Coast time Monday. They link to this Stu Rothenberg column that makes the case that Hillary Clinton is not inevitable for the nomination and that O’Malley, the former Maryland governor, “has the potential to become at least an interesting alternative to the former first lady and secretary of state, both to reporters and progressive activists.” [snip]

So, what gives? Why is Drudge treating O’Malley as though he is nipping at Clinton’s heels when he is, according to the available data, receiving roughly the same amount of the vote I am currently?

The short answer is Clinton. Drudge’s popularity as a link site is tied directly to the Monica Lewinsky scandal in the late 1990s. In 2007, Drudge, when he was still occasionally talking to the media, acknowledged just how central Clinton was to his site’s success. He told New York Magazine:

“I need Hillary Clinton. You don’t get it. I need to be part of her world. That’s my bank. Like Leo DiCaprio has the environment and Al Gore has the environment and Jimmy Carter has anti-Americanism … I have Hillary.”

How Drudge, the most powerful aggregator of content for conservatives and one of the most powerful on the entire Internet, treats Clinton has varied widely throughout the years. During the 2008 presidential campaign, Drudge seemed sympathetic to Clinton’s candidacy — and the Clinton team went out of its way to curry favor with Drudge by leaking him exclusive news tidbits.

As that campaign wore on, however, Drudge turned against Clinton — casting her as pursuing a quixotic and hopeless campaign to upend Barack Obama.

Since Clinton began to look like a presidential candidate again — so, about two years ago — Drudge’s coverage of her has been almost exclusively negative; he has used his platform to regularly raise questions about her health and age with limited, at best, sourcing.

Now, Drudge has become an out-and-out advocate for O’Malley. Whether that’s because of a dislike for Clinton or, more likely in my opinion, Drudge’s belief that a contested race for Clinton is good for his business, it’s clear that the attention being paid to O’Malley has a whole lot to do with Hillary.

Regardless of Drudge’s real reason, which, like the man himself, is basically unknowable, his willingness to give O’Malley attention amounts, at some level, to a self-fulfilling prophecy. Drudge’s reach — whether you like him or hate him — is vast. Here’s Politico’s Hadas Gold on it:

In 2014, DrudgeReport.com was the No. 1 site of referral traffic to the Daily Mail, CNN, Fox News, Roll Call, Breitbart, The New York Times, National Journal, USA Today, Associated Press, Reuters, The Wall Street Journal and POLITICO, Intermarkets found.

Another unique aspect for Drudge is that 87 percent of its own traffic is from readers going directly to DrudgeReport.com and staying there for an average of 30 minutes.

And, it’s not just that Drudge is deciding what pieces of content from the biggest media outlets in the country are the ones that get attention/traffic. It’s also that he remains extremely influential as a sort of daily booking guide for cable television. Bookers from every network check Drudge religiously to see what stories he’s chosen to feature. Often, those stories wind up getting airtime.

So, if Drudge promotes Martin O’Malley, then O’Malley will almost certainly get more attention from the media, which should translate to a higher level of interest — or at least recognition — among average voters.

How long will O’Malley’s Drudge honeymoon last? Probably up until (or, really, if) Drudge succeeds in helping to make O’Malley a semi-credible Clinton challenger. At which point, if history is any guide, Drudge will turn on him.

Along with Drudge we’ll make sure to pay attention to Martin O’Malley.

    Wbboei, O’Malley is catching fire:

    ————-
Like a mackerel in the moonlight.

    He shines but he stinks.

  19. As i said 2 weeks….o’malley from Maryland…..there are bound to be plenty of scandals rattling round that closet.

  20. There’s a continued pattern here. First half black President that does nothing to protect innocent citizens, but continues to race bait, which adds a constant spark to the rotting timber of angry gang members. Black lives matter…but police lives do not.

Put your life on the line as a cop, every day you go to work, and Obama and Holder encourage violence, even as they stand back and watch.

    Burn baby, burn.

This is effed up and our pResident does nothing to stop it.

  21. As parents, we teach our children that even if they believe they have been treated unfairly by a teacher, a parent, or another child, they are not to act out angrily or to throw a hissy fit. No slamming of doors or kicking of walls. No hitting or hurting others or their property. Such behavior is no way to express anger. We teach them appropriate ways to express disagreement with another and to vent anger. And, we assign a consequence if they fail to follow these instructions.

How can we expect children in this country to respect authority or the rights and property of others and to exercise self-control in the face of frustration or unjust provocation when this kind of behavior by adults is not only tolerated, but encouraged.

    Damn! We need help.

  22. President Obama dodged potential questions about violent street protests in Baltimore on Monday when he met with Attorney General Loretta Lynch.
Obama met with Lynch for the first time since she was sworn in, but the White House barred print, radio, and television reporters from covering the Oval Office meeting. Only still photographers were allowed inside.
The president and his new attorney general said nothing while their pictures were taken, photographers told a pool reporter.

During the meeting, Lynch updated Obama on the situation in Baltimore and said she “stands ready to provide any assistance that might be helpful there,” the White House said in a statement.

Earlier Monday, Obama spoke with Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and told her the federal government is ready to provide “assistance as needed.” Senior adviser Valerie Jarrett phoned Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, according to the White House. … Footage of the clashes played on televisions in the White House press office as reporters lodged a complaint with press staff about the lack of access to the meeting, according to a pool report. …Just hours earlier, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Lynch “could play a pivotal role” in rebuilding ties between law enforcement and their communities in the wake of police-related deaths of black men around the country.
“There is the expectation she could do important work in this area,” Earnest said.

  23. Good to see that some Baltimore residents are speaking up against the nonsense. Along with the woman who slapped her rioting kid this guy also makes sense.

While covering the riots in Baltimore, CNN’s Joe Johns caught up with a man securing his neighborhood from agitators. The man, a Vietnam War vet, said the young rioters need to “have their butts home” and be “studying.”

The man, identified as Robert Valentine, is black but said he does not consider himself “black, white, red, yellow, or nothing,” but an American.

“I did 30 years, okay, came out a Master Sergeant,” Valentine told CNN’s Joe Johns. “I’ve seen more than all this. I’ve been through the riots already. This right here is not relevant. They need to have their butts at home. They need to be in their home units with their families studying and doing something with their life. Not out here protesting about something that is not really about nothing.”

They do not respect this young man’s death. You know. Now, mama and daddy lost a child. That could be them. So I’m very pissed,” Valentine also said.

I love my country,” Valentine said. “I love my Charm City. I’m an American. I’m not black, white, red, yellow or nothing. I am American.”

This man speaks with more moral authority and sense than Obama.

  24. Mayor (who said she gave the rioters space to carry out this destruction) is now saying what that she will hold them accountable.

    Blink.

    Accountable for what?

Taking her up on her original offer.

Comes now this constitutionally conflicted attorney general following her coronation by the RINOS.

    To-do-what-praytell?

Why, to do “important work” in this area.

Like bribing rioters not to riot?

    Yes, of course.

For holding the white man responsible for it.

Yes, of course, she reports to racist Obama.

Even though the last white family left Baltimore a generation ago?

Yes. You see it is the legacy of slavery that is responsible.

Not gangsta rap. Not the destruction of the black family by left wing statist policies.

Not the invocations to violence by certain black preachers who double as big media celebrities.

And surely not Obama or his pet jackass Holder who foment and then exploit these situations for political gain.

Forget about the tough love prescriptions by the master sergeant.

The real roots of this riot are discrimination, and the lack of jobs.

What we need is more money, more drugs, more rap, and more riots.

    Le bon temps roule.

Bottom line: it has become a joke.

  25. Our post racial president has done it again.

A new heaven and a new earth unfolds before our eyes.

Just like Hillary’s speech about him in New Hampshire.

The skies have opened up and we are all now perfect.

A black mayor, a black police chief, a black police force–and yet it is still all whitey’s doing.

That whitey—he sure does get around.

From Ferguson to NYC to here in Baltimore, where Poopsie’s dad was once mayor.

Maybe the real whitey here is that cracker Martin O’Malley.

Data driven Marty the architect of good government and satisfied (crack) customer.

    A new kind of democrat.

With a similar vision for the nation as a whole.

As fire insurance companies raise their premiums.

And big media dusts off its old trusty talking point—whitey is responsible, need jobs.

Yes. Jobs are the answer alright. If they can earn the same salary as a crack dealer.

    Without the pious lectures.

  26. I am sitting here trying to see this thing through the eyes of the master sergeant, who is a very admirable guy. I am quite sure he sees this through the eyes of a drill instructor who realizes this is what happens when there is no discipline. And, having been through a real war, he sees these young jackasses as punks—just like those white punks from the jewish fraternity who got drunk and poured piss on the disabled vet. Youth is a blunder, middle age a struggle, old age a regret. I can personally attest to all three. Youth can really do a fellow in as Louie Jordan observed. But when you have a corrupt media egging them on, destruction is more apt to occur. And at this point, anyone who cannot see how big media is responsible is one french fry short of a happy meal.

  27. Another thoughtful article, by Judge Neopolitano, who despite my own sarcasm shows that these riots are not the fault of whitey by the dependence created by welfare state policies, and the ineffectual policies and practices of the democrat leaders in that city. But big media will never accept that explanation, because it undermines their blame whitey narrative. This calls for a national boycott of big media, if only the public had the wisdom to realize how and why they are being played.
    —————-
When Freddie Gray was arrested by Baltimore police two weeks ago for no lawful reason and then died of a broken neck and crushed windpipe sustained while in police custody, and no one was charged with a crime, the tone deaf leadership of Baltimore’s government ought to have anticipated the public reaction.

For generations the residents of inner-city Baltimore have grown dependent on the government. The government of that once great city and of the State of Maryland have kept large numbers of folks in Baltimore in near poverty by offering dependence in return for votes — not personal or economic freedom, not even safety; just dependence.

Looting and rioting not only destroy dreams and property and ruin neighborhoods for generations, they impair the ability of those with legitimate concerns about the government to be heard.

That lamentable state of affairs has been looking for a tipping point; and in the unexplained death of Freddie Gray it found one. Many peacefully took to the streets to demand accountability by the government which promised it could take care of them. How did Freddie die? Who killed him? Why has no one been charged with in his death? These are all legitimate questions which the government has been unwilling or unable to answer.

At a deeper level, even those dependent upon the government need to know how can there be a culture in the Baltimore Police Department where any cops could think that whatever they did to Freddie, that resulted in his death, could be acceptable in American society? How could they not have known that while in their custody his life and safety were legally in their hands? How could they have administered some crude, legally undeserved, lethal, ad hoc punishment to him?

Watching all this unfold on set with my Fox News colleagues Megyn Kelly and Shepard Smith late last night, I was moved by the anger and distrust that so many decent folks in the inner-city appear to have for the city government. Watching also were apparently those whose political agendas are furthered by the wanton destruction caused by the mobs, and enabled by police who inexplicably must have been ordered to do nothing to stop the lawlessness. And the mobs must have been watching as well because the longer the police did nothing the more looting and burning we all witnessed.

The Constitution protects free speech, and even gives it breathing room. It protects hateful speech. It protects provocative speech. But it does not protect threats to innocent life and destruction of property in the name of free speech. Looting and rioting not only destroy dreams and property and ruin neighborhoods for generations, they impair the ability of those with legitimate concerns about the government to be heard.

Baltimore needs leadership that serves the people by protecting their lives, their rights, their freedoms, and their property. The people need to break their cycle of dependence. The cops who kill and the rioters who destroy need to be identified and prosecuted. And Freddie Gray needs to rest in peace.

Yes indeed. Meaning Obama and Holder. It therefore follows that the important work this new attorney general of Obama will be doing is to cover up the effect of his policies in producing these riots. The important work she will be doing is political damage control. She is a fundamentally dishonest individual, so to expect anything more than that is wishful thinking.

  29. If big media cannot find some excuse to blame whitey then there is no story to report. They are captives of the narrative given to them by the New York crowd, as reported in Sharyl Attkissons book. There is no room for free thinking. Free thinking gets you fired.

  30. Robert Valentine is a moral man and a vet. More American’s with good sense need to stand up against this juvenile behavior and corruption.

That news reporter from CNN, a black man was trying to convince Mr. Valentine that he could get hurt standing up against these gangsters throwing rocks. He may as well have said, “You are old, you need to go home and not speak out against your brothers. I am kinda scared, just reporting this story. What if they throw a rock at me, who is going to protect me?”

  31. I saw a young black teenager this morning on TV helping with the clean up…

imo…he said it all in a few words and was much more on target then all the pundits and people trying to make excuses for bad, dangerous and criminal behavior…

he said “this all could have been avoided if they just thought about what they were doing before they did it”

this is a kid who probably has the same stress and problems the other kids are using as an excuse to be destructive…but somehow he has learned what is right and what is wrong…probably from his good parent(s)

…the parents need to be guiding their kids…teaching them to respect their community…their neighbors…instead of striking out in a ‘free for all’

…the reality is many of those kids were drinking and probably high on something and this was like a going to a ‘rave’ or frenzied party…thinking was the last thing they were doing…

and then the professional ‘thugs’ arrived…

    ************************

the mayor and police seemed to have done just about everything wrong…they had prior social media “hints” as to what was going to happen…they had a ‘map’ of targeted locations…

so what did they do? they stopped public transportation and let the kids out of school with no way to get home…and they cancelled school for today…so kids have no direction unless their parents keep them reigned in…

why didn’t the police simply stand in front of the businesses and the mall…and protect them with a show of force? instead of standing in the middle of the streets…they have Ferguson as their guide to how destructive these events can become…

…they know there are ‘professional agitators and anachists’ coming in to start trouble…

so the police just stand around while busineses burn…and let the kids loot to their heart’s desire…geesh…allow them a wish come true with no repercussions as police stand and watch…WTH?

insanity…if they were ‘outnumbered’ it is because they did not plan…

…and the mayor, while she is articulate and seems very intelligent…she failed her community…she failed to protect them because she gave way too much deference to “protestors” and giving them space for ‘free speech’

free speech that allowed “thugs” to burn down the few businesses that have taken the chance on redevelopment in their neighborhood…

who is going to invest in a neighborhood where kids go crazy and burn it down…

where are the parents? my parents would have dragged me the hell out of there too

    poor leadership on all sides…

that young African American teenage boy I mentioned above had more sense than all of them put together

    “…think before you act…”

  32. Well . . . this is one of these scroll past comments which suggest either helpful or not helpful to Hillary depending on your point of view. To some it will be seen as critical of her current position, whereas to others it points the way to a more constructive set of policies than those favored by Roosevelt, which are running out of steam due to massive immigration and the pending collapse of safety nets which will inevitably follow. Globalization and technological change are destroying the blue state model, and what the Democrat party is replacing it with is oligarchy, while the RINO follows suit with New Deal lite—the preferred position of gutless wonders like Bob Corker, who takes bows and curtain calls from the elites for undermining the treaty making powers of congress. The question for Hillary, then, is whether to lay low to the weeds and embrace outdated policies, or to get ahead of the power curve. I can suggest the right answer, but I have no confidence she will pursue it. But that does not mean I am wrong to suggest it. Because it is after all the truth. Maybe not the political truth, but the economic truth which undergirds politics, prosperity and everything else. Finally, if you want to know who a brilliant woman was, take a good look at Queen Elizabeth I, and what she says here. Five hundred years ago. And the Roman experience over a thousand years earlier–outsourcing grain production to the Asia minor, dispossessing the yeoman farmer who filled the ranks of the Roman legions, the rise of a bloated self indulgent upper class, and the eventual collapse of civilization. Full employment is sine qua non. And that is what we are losing.
    ————–

The question these events jointly pose is whether the Blue Model has any life left in it. For years lower-income people, especially African Americans, have been sustained by the dream of a middle-class prosperity that lay at the end of government funded-conveyor belts. Corinthian was the epitome of a people-mover into the good life, a process that Hillary Clinton calls middle-class economics. The deal was is that if one voted for those who promised to “spread the wealth” they in return would open doors closed for centuries by racism, patriarchy or gender specificity so that the masses could enter the broad uplands of the Dream.

Now there’s a growing sense that — like the diploma mills — the whole middle-class economics promise has become a scam. The pathways to the coveted future which once consisted of an educational system that credentialed people into white collar or high paying blue collar jobs through welfare, unions, subsidized industry and public sector employment, are now a dead end. They don’t work any more. Global competition and technology have severely limited what the Blue Model can economically offer.

Liberals may now be transitioning under the impetus of automation from the old Blue Model into its successor: oligarchy. According to the Brookings Institution robotics is having the same transformative contribution to labor productivity as the steam engine. “Research indicates that the steam engine, a classic example of a GPT [general purpose technology], increased labor productivity by 0.35 percent annually between 1850 and 1910—or by about the same amount as robotics have of late (though the steam engine did so for a much longer time period).” The only reason we have noticed it more is because the IT revolution has been taking place in parallel, stealing the show with a “0.60 percent of labor productivity growth and 1.0 percent of overall growth between 1995 and 2005—or about two to three times the amount contributed by robotics”.

Why would this produce an oligarchy?

As the Financial Review noted, the steam engine and the industrial revolution had two contradictory effects. On the one hand it destroyed the previous way of pastoral and artisanal life and yet by drastically increasing productivity simultaneously made the real cost of goods everywhere cheaper. It created discontent while providing the possibility of ameliorating it. The modern Democratic party resolved the dilemma of industrial productivity by controlling access to labor and taxing it, and from these proceeds distributing welfare to the unemployed. It could do this because technology provided a new surplus to distribute.

Four centuries ago, William Lee, the clergyman son of an English yeoman farmer, built a knitting machine and nervously demonstrated his invention to Queen Elizabeth I, hoping to secure a patent.

When he handed Her Majesty a newly woven woollen stocking from the machine she recoiled in horror: “Consider thou what the invention would do to my poor subjects. It would assuredly bring them to ruin by depriving them of employment, thus making them beggars.”

Furthermore, she declared “the privilege of making stockings for everyone is too important to grant to any individual”.

Economic historians say the Queen’s opposition in 1598 – which forced Lee to flee England for France – was symptomatic of resistance among trade guilds concerned the invention would make their artisans obsolete. It took another two centuries, until the Industrial Revolution, to replace those artisans with textile factories that mass-produced affordable stockings – in effect giving ordinary people a rise in living standards and real wage increase.

Getting into the paid, but taxed middle-class was the essence of the New Deal’s promise. But as a Pew Research study on the effect of automation suggests the new GPT revolutions is creating yet another shift which may make the middle class a lot smaller.

Impacts from automation have thus far impacted mostly blue-collar employment; the coming wave of innovation threatens to upend white-collar work as well.

Certain highly-skilled workers will succeed wildly in this new environment—but far more may be displaced into lower paying service industry jobs at best, or permanent unemployment at worst.

Our educational system is not adequately preparing us for work of the future, and our political and economic institutions are poorly equipped to handle these hard choices.

This would turn the traditional pathways of the Blue Model into dead end. Rising in its place is what what Conn Carroll called “a feudal society” of which California, in which the impacts of the GPT revolution and the Blue Model have simultaneously operated, could be the harbinger.

Even before the Great Recession, California already suffered from some of the highest levels of income inequality in the nation … Worse, a 2012 California Budget Project study found that what little job recovery has occurred in the state has been confined to the low-skill sector. The employment rate for prime-working-age Californians with a bachelor’s degree or higher has been flat since the recovery began, whereas those with just a high school diploma and those without one have both seen job gains. To the extent that the California labor market is recovering, it is a McJobs recovery.

Of course, the Googles, Facebooks and Apples of California are all still swimming in profits and growth. If you do happen to have a job already among the highest fifth of California income earners, your weekly wages are up 1 percent since 2006. But every other income group has experienced sharp earnings losses.

California is rapidly becoming a near-feudal society. On one side is an older, educated, landed, wealthy elite that lives on California’s beautiful coasts. Then there is a much larger, younger, less-educated, indebted mass living inland, many of them working farm jobs at subsistence wages.

The collapse of Corinthian Colleges, the race riots in Baltimore, the shambolic “education” offered by the Atlanta Public Schools are the sound of parts of the Blue Model hitting the floor. It represents the collapse of some old conveyor belts. The effects of this sea-change are only beginning to be felt, but a glimpse into its social content can already be seen in the White House Correspondents dinner. Washington is no longer the town “of the people”; it has become a court with a king surrounded by his jesters, a court obsessed with empty manner and gesture where offense is taken at “micro-aggression”.

In the process of feudalization, the Democratic Party may gradually become everything an autocracy has historically been: obscurantist yet vaunting, arbitrary yet capricious, envied yet ignorant and licentious yet tyrannical. Parenthetically this also implies that the Republican party, if it is to have any political future, must abandon its current obsolete position as “New Dealers lite” in favor of something much more creative. The ground over which they wish to compromise no longer exists. But that is for another post.

Bill De Blasio’s Wisconsin Reception Shows Potency as Election Force

The mayor attracted the biggest crowd to Wisconsin Democrats’ annual dinner since Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama attended seven years ago.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio attracted the biggest crowd to Wisconsin Democrats’ annual dinner on Saturday since Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama attended seven years ago. The foray to the home state of expected Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker shows de Blasio’s determination to affect the 2016 election.

“I’m certainly going to be doing this with some regularity,” de Blasio said after getting a standing ovation for his speech in Milwaukee.

The 53-year-old mayor has in recent weeks ventured from the most populous U.S. city into the Midwest to inveigh against tax breaks for corporations, attacks on unions and income inequality. He has withheld a quick endorsement of Democratic candidate Clinton, emphasizing his power as leader of a city of 8.4 million and ensuring that his intentions remain a topic of speculation and conversation.

  34. The best advice to Hillary is be yourself.

Stop listening to these fucking handlers, half of whom are Obama plants.

  35. Bill De Blasio is a demogogue of the lowest order. Ugly to look at obnoxious to listen to devoid of solutions always ready to exploit a political situation, in sum, the negation of a leader. He, and scumbags like him, are why Plato called democracy the worst form of government. He is right out of Goya’s Capriccios the monster that devours common sense, reason and civility. The Ogar who gladly lights the fuse, and looks for scapegoats. He does not belong in political office.

    How Long Does America Have?

As Baltimore burned, the rest of us tweeted.

The riots followed a weekend in which GoFundMe shut down a fundraising page for a Christian-owned bakery that was hit with a huge fine for refusing to serve a gay wedding. GoFundMe has said its policy precludes raising money “in defense of formal charges of heinous crimes, including violent, hateful, or sexual acts.” The key word here is “hateful”: if you can expand or contract that word at will—which many people in this country can and do—you can accomplish anything.

Every week this country is consumed in a new distended orgy of polarized, mutual hatred, set against the backdrop of outrage mobs, race riots, shuttered businesses, scandals, Twitter-induced career ruination, gleeful smear parties, and partisan hackery.

Admit it: You’ve asked yourself where America is going, and how long it can survive the trip. Admit it.

Usually people think you’re crazy for asking this. But the New Normal has prompted Ace of Spades to ask: “Is it time to formally separate America into two or more sovereign nations?”

“No one actually seems happy in this national marriage,” writes Ace. That is sadly true.

    I’m not advocating a national schism. I don’t want it. I want a union. I want a flag with 50 stars.

But what I want doesn’t matter. Larger forces are at work here, and it seems to me that a dispassionate assessment of the United States in 2015 must include the possibility of a major rupture in our social and political order within ten years. Probably less.

Now, some people will say, “You 30-year-old know-nothing, you weren’t around for Vietnam. Everyone thought the country would come apart then, but it didn’t. Then we got Reagan!”

To which I say: You’re right, I wasn’t around for Vietnam. Maybe I don’t know anything. But I think the country is quite different from the one that existed in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s. We are different politically, economically, ideologically, demographically…pretty much in every way that matters. I think that conservatives who are waiting for a new Reagan are deluded, and dangerously so. They have been lulled into thinking that things will just get better as a matter of cyclical routine. Everything stays the same…until everything is different.

I’m not so sure “getting better” is possible anymore, or at least not possible before some major rupture once again makes it possible. I hope I’m wrong. I hope I look back at this post in 2020 and laugh at myself. But who honestly thinks they’ll be laughing in 2020?

  37. Irreconcilable differences are the statutory basis for divorce. In marriage, or within a polity. Factions who see the world and everything in it so differently that compromise is a dirty word. This country is falling apart, but like the light which was generated by a distant star at the time of Christ, that we see right now, it will take more time for the population at large to see what has happened. When Putin becomes more palatable to me, than a sanctimonious authoritarian leftist in this country, you know something has changed. Dramatically.

  38. How many times in the last six years have we thought “now we’ve heard/seen everything”? Then something else happens and the head shakes again as some new ridiculousness occurs. Here’s the latest “now we’ve heard/seen everything”:

    https://twitter.com/Orioles/status/593124360963031040

The Baltimore Orioles will play baseball todayon Wednesday with no one in the stands. That’s right, they will play to an empty stadium.

Following this absurdity the Orioles will play “home games” not at home but in Florida. Up is now down.

  39. The Baltimore Orioles will play baseball today on Wednesday with no one in the stands. That’s right, they will play to an empty stadium.
    —–

If they play in an empty stadium and no one watches it, did they actually play the game at all?

Hopefully the other team doesn’t show up either.

  40. Finally, an article that captures the essence of the problem. The conflagration engulf Baltimore is the inevitable result of democrat policies. It is a solidly democrat problem, not an American problem. And it starts with the race baiting Elija Cummings who represents that district, and a city council where they are all democrats—a perfect example of failure of the blue state model. It is a city in a state of decline, much like the other once great city on the Detroit River. It is a lifetime exercise in futility to send in someone like Holder or Lynch to find what they are predisposed to find. Need esteem course, money and the other crap. The culture, the media, the drugs and the Crips are not the problem. It was all the fault of that last white family who left the city forty years ago. He is the devil. Obama is now flapping his jaw about this. He has the moral credibility of Mickey Mouse on a bad hair day. Mr. Failure darling of the big media elites. Call him mister for short.

BALTIMORE IS A DEMOCRAT PROBLEM, NOT AMERICA’S PROBLEM

Contrary to the emotional blackmail some leftists are attempting to peddle, Baltimore is not America’s problem or shame. That failed city is solely and completely a Democrat problem. Like many failed cities, Detroit comes to mind, and every city besieged recently by rioting, Democrats and their union pals have had carte blanche to inflict their ideas and policies on Baltimore since 1967, the last time there was a Republican Mayor.

In 2012, after four years of his own failed policies, President Obama won a whopping 87.4% of the Baltimore City vote. Democrats run the city of Baltimore, the unions, the schools, and, yes, the police force. Since 1969, there have only been only been two Republican governors of the State of Maryland.

Elijah Cummings has represented Baltimore in the U.S. Congress for more than thirty years. As I write this, despite his objectively disastrous reign, the Democrat-infested mainstream media is treating the Democrat like a local folk hero, not the obvious and glaring failure he really is.

Every single member of the Baltimore city council is a Democrat.

Liberalism and all the toxic government dependence and cronyism and union corruption and failed schools that comes along with it, has run amok in Baltimore for a half-century, and that is Baltimore’s problem. It is the free people of Baltimore who elect and then re-elect those who institute policies that have so spectacularly failed that once-great city. It is the free people of Baltimore who elected Mayor Room-To-Destroy.

You can call the arson and looting and violence we are seeing on our television screens, rioting. That’s one way to describe the chaos. Another way to describe it is Democrat infighting. This is blue-on-blue violence. The thugs using the suspicious death of Freddie Gray (at the hands of a Democrat-led police department) to justify the looting that updates their home entertainment systems, are Democrats protesting Democrat leaders and Democrat policies in a Democrat-run city.

Poverty has nothing to do with it. This madness and chaos and anarchy is a Democrat-driven culture that starts at the top with a racially-divisive White House heartbreakingly effective at ginning up hate and violence.

Where I currently reside here in Watauga County, North Carolina, the poverty level is 31.3%. Median income is only $34,293. In both of those areas we are much worse off than Baltimore, that has a poverty rate of only 23.8% and a median income of $41,385.

Despite all that, we don’t riot here in Watauga County. Thankfully, we have not been poisoned by the same left-wing culture that is rotting Baltimore, and so many other cities like it, from the inside out. We get along remarkably well. We are neighbors. We are people who help out one another. We take pride in our community, and are grateful for what we do have. We are far from perfect, but we work out our many differences in civilized ways. Solutions are our goal, not cronyism, narcissistic victimhood, and the blaming of others.

One attitude we don’t have here is the soul-killing belief that somebody owes us something, which, of course, is a recipe for discontent. Because if you’re not getting what’s owed to you, how can you be anything but angry?

Democrats and their never-ending grievance campaigns; their never-ending propaganda that government largess is the answer; their never-ending caves to corrupt unions; their never-ending warehousing of innocent children in failed public schools — that’s a Democrat problem, not America’s problem.

I might believe Baltimore was an American problem if the city was interested in new ideas and a new direction under new leaders. But we all know that will never happen. After Democrat policies result in despair and anarchy, Democrats always demand more of the same, only bigger.

And the media goes right along.

    And things only get worse.

I wish you all the luck in the world Baltimore. And I truly wish you had the courage to change. If you ever do, send up a flare. Until then, there is nothing anyone can do for you. You are victims of your own choices, and no one can make choices for you but you.

As far as the good people of Baltimore trapped by the terrible voting of your fellow citizens, I suggest you buy more guns until you can move to a city not run by those who see rioting as part of the Master Plan

Source: Bernie Sanders to announce 2016 presidential bid this week

    By Jonathan Topaz

    4/28/15 5:15 PM EDT

Bernie Sanders will announce a presidential bid on Thursday, a source close to the Vermont senator confirmed.

The Vermont independent, a self-described democratic socialist, will run as a Democrat in a field that includes frontrunner Hillary Clinton.

It will likely be a low-key announcement — no big rally or high-budget video. The senator is expected to have a larger campaign kickoff in a few weeks, most likely in Vermont, before heading to early presidential nominating states such as Iowa and New Hampshire.

    ………………

    Talk of idiocy.

  42. Get a load of this: with Jebediah prepared to announce a $100 million dollar quarter, while the RNC comes to people like me who supported Republicans a decade ago, and casts Trey Gowdy who runs a great show on public television, but supports Boehner behind the scenes, and cautions us that care about liberty that he is about to be squashed like a bug by the vicious Clinton machine, but the good news is small donors like me can save this beleaguered hero if I sign a pledge and contribute $$$$. Fuck the RNC and its chairman. If you can read this with a straight face, then you are a better man than I Gunga Dinn. Meanwhile, Trey is assuming the fetal position waiting for people of modest means to give him an attaboy, and money. Do you suppose he has any idea the RNC is doing this? Notice too how these staffers I have never met insist on addressing me by my first name. Nice touch.

Emergency UPDATE — Hillary defies Trey Gowdy ***

    william,

Trey Gowdy is coming under fire for forcing Hillary Clinton to testify…and now he’s in danger.

We don’t have a moment to lose.

As you know, Trey Gowdy has summoned Hillary Clinton to appear before the Select Committee on Benghazi for a fully transcribed, under oath interview, AND Hillary has refused!

And now, the full weight of the Clinton machine is out to crush Rep. Gowdy.

Let me explain: in an attempt to hide the truth, Hillary’s offered a “limited,” public appearance before the Select Committee where she can “appease” the media and avoid answering deep, hard-hitting questions in the name of “protecting national security” and claiming that she’s already answered for her use of a personal email server.

But the truth is, Hillary will do ANYTHING to avoid tough questioning and face accountability for her actions.

South Carolina Republican Congressman Trey Gowdy has done an expert job leading the Congressional Select Committee on Benghazi, but as he faces his largest attack yet from Hillary Clinton, her campaign apparatus, and the left wing elite media — he needs your immediate support.

That’s why I’m leading the charge to support Trey Gowdy. Will you please stop what you are doing right now, and pledge your support by signing your pledge to “Stand with Gowdy: Not Hillary?”

william, the truth can only be found through a transcribed interview to secure the public interest and ensure the committee has the unvarnished truth. And Hillary knows that could spell the end of her political career.

Gowdy’s affirmed — in light of her wiping clean the email server — that Hillary MUST appear separately to discuss EACH of these events — Benghazi AND her “illegal” email practices.

Remember those that dared to uncover the truth about the Monica Lewinsky/Bill Clinton affair and Clinton’s lies under oath about it? The Clintons and their friends in the media methodically destroyed the careers and reputations of those that dared to lead the impeachment proceedings, including Congressmen Bob Livingston, Bob Barr, Henry Hyde, Newt Gingrich, Helen Chenoweth, and Dan Burton.

    Bottom line?

If Americans want Congressman Gowdy to uncover the truth about Benghazi and Hillary’s role in it, Gowdy will need our support. So please, take just a second of your time to sign the pledge to “Stand with Gowdy: Not Hillary.”

We need to let him know he has the support of Americans across the country and that we will have his back when faced with the mud slinging onslaught that is sure to come his way.

If Congressman Gowdy can finally uncover the truth, then, perhaps we can stop Hillary once and for all…because, she MUST BE STOPPED.

That’s why your personalized pledge to “Stand with Gowdy: Not Hillary” is so important. Please click here immediately and let Congressman Gowdy know you have his back.

And in order to achieve that goal, WE NEED YOU ON OUR TEAM TODAY.

    Here’s how YOU can help:

    1. First, go here and sign the pledge to “Stand with Gowdy: Not Hillary.” It’s important that Congressman Gowdy knows that we have his back.

    2. Tell your friends! Please forward this email to every friend or family member that agrees with you that we MUST stop Hillary tomorrow by supporting Congressman Trey Gowdy today. Also, post on facebook, twitter, and every other social media outlet to spread the word.

    3. Make a donation. We simply cannot achieve our goals without building a substantial war chest. Hillary and pro-Hillary PACs have already raised millions to propel her to office. We MUST match that dollar for dollar. So, please, make a donation today. If you can afford a donation of $50, $100, $250, $500 or more, I would encourage you to do so today. However, a smaller symbolic donation of $20.16 will go a long way in helping pay for our efforts.

I am sick of the whole, “We care about you, just donate and we will help you get x, y or z”.

I wonder who falls for the ‘Donate’ button unless the horse race is down to the line?

I gave to Hillary in 2008, not that much, but it was my first and only time.

Giving away what little families have to live on these days, I would rather wear a button and/or bumper sticker. Which I am doing…

  44. They couldn’t pull Featherhead into the race, so the next best thing is Bernie Sanders…desperado!

  45. Wbboei, these hysterical fund raising appeals are not even worthy of a good laugh. The Dims always say “send three dollars tonight or the world will cave in on us”. Because emails are for all intents and purposes free to send both parties send stupid emails asking for more and more money.

The months before the 2014 elections the Dims sent an email appeal in full hysteria about every hour on the hour. The emails we particularly hate are the ones that state they have a “shock poll” which shows their candidate is just a few points away from victory so send money and save the world. Of course they do not link to the amazing poll and when you investigate the poll is one conducted by the candidate’s campaign or so old as to be meaningless. Wbboei, these hysterical fund raising appeals are not even worthy of a good laugh.

    ———-
You are right. They are disgusting. And they are an insult to one’s intelligence. When they list the victims of the wrath of the Clinton machine, what I can tell you for sure, is that these wounds were self inflicted. One of them was a friend, and I counselled that individual not to go down that path, but it was no use. The punks who wrote that fundraising letter, most likely in their 20s know not whereof they speak.

  47. Hey Trey. We heard you the first time, and the next ninety nine times thereafter. You were a prosecutor for 16 years. So why is it that Judicial Watch, not you, is getting to the bottom of these scandals? Is it perchance because they are less interested in photo ops and hammer and tong cross examinations on camera which embarrass the target, but yield no evidence. More interested in results?

  48. What Obama says is meaningless drivel.

    For example:

I can’t federalize every police force.

    Only the white dominated ones.

I have the power under Article 2 to declare marshal law

And to federalize every police force

I have no power to grant amnesty.

    This is not a dictatorship.

Since Congress has not acted I will.

I will grant amnesty by executive order.

Meanwhile big media pretends no problem.

Think how much worse it would be if he did not evolve.

Think how much better it would be if he spoke truth before he was forced to.

Think how much better it would be if big media shut the fuck up.

    That’s a good mom!

I have a son and if he did that kind of shit, I would go into full on attack mode too.

The best advice to Hillary is be yourself.

Stop listening to these fucking handlers, half of whom are Obama plants.

    Yes!

wbboei, if you know someone who knows someone who knows Hillary, please have them email that message to her. (seriously)

  52. I’m glad that mom didn’t want her snowflake out being bad – but I have a problem with the swearing at him, and the hitting – and hitting in the head at that. You never hit someone in their head*.

So again, I’m glad she didn’t want her kid rioting, but her form of disciplining might be part of the reason he was drawn to the violence in the street. Violence often begets violence.

*with the exception of boxing, where the rules protect the genitals but allow the head to be pummeled – strange priorities if you ask me (actually, IMO the sport should be illegal).

  53. Another thoughtful article, by Judge Neopolitano

wbboei do you have a link? (you post good articles, but then I can’t share them with no link – with the link, people can see it’s legit, and not written by me or Joe Blow) thx

  54. Here’s to Tom Wolfe whom we have not heard from for 30 years, but who shined the spotlight on the wealthy and their adoption of radical causes as a statement of social fashion. Once prevalent mainly in New York, it is now de rigeur on both coast. What Tom never discussed however was the grim subtext of this which is that more than a fashion statement, these people use to middle class as their shield against their own interests by the underclass. They fail to realize that they will be the target, and because they indulge this tactic they hasten the day when their heads will roll. It is a poor strategy, a delaying tactic which will have the reverse effect. They assume their money insulates them from the havoc they wreak for their own fun and amusement, however, that is pretty short sighted. For the same reason that Willie Sutton robbed banks, i.e. because that is where the money is, sooner or later they will be the target. And when that does happen, whether we live to see it or not, they and their heirs will get exactly what they deserve.

    “Radical Chic”[edit]
The first piece is set in the duplex on Park Avenue in Manhattan inhabited by conductor Leonard Bernstein, his wife the actress Felicia Cohn Montealegre, and their three children. Bernstein assembled many of his wealthy socialite friends to meet with representatives of the controversial Black Panthers and discuss ways to help their cause.[2] The party was a typical affair for Bernstein, a longtime Democrat, who was known for hosting civil rights leaders at such parties.[3]

The Bernsteins’ usual staff of white South Americans served the party.[4] Some of the Bernsteins’ typical friends in the arts and guests in journalism (including Oscar-nominated director Otto Preminger and television reporter Barbara Walters) are labeled the “radical chic,” as Wolfe characterizes them as pursuing radical ends for social reasons, partially because organizations like the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People had become too mainstream.[1] Wolfe’s criticism is implicitly of the general phenomena of white guilt and armchair agitation becoming facets of high fashion.[5]

When Time magazine later interviewed a minister of the Black Panthers about Bernstein’s party, the official said of Wolfe: “You mean that dirty, blatant, lying, racist dog who wrote that fascist disgusting thing in New York magazine?”[1]

    “Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers”[edit]
The second part of Wolfe’s book is set at the Office of Economic Opportunity in San Francisco which was in charge of administering many of the anti-poverty programs of the time. Wolfe presents the office as corrupt, continually gamed by hustlers diverting cash into their own pockets. The essay centers on the irony of these failed programs fortifying not the diets but the resentment and contempt of the Black, Chicano, Filipino, Chinese, Indian, and Samoan communities of San Francisco.[2]

Wolfe describes hapless bureaucrats (the Flak Catchers) whose function was reduced to taking abuse, or “mau-mauing” (in reference to the intimidation tactics employed in Kenya’s anti-colonial Mau Mau Uprising) from intimidating young Blacks and Samoans, who are seen as reveling in the newfound vulnerability of “the Man”. The flak-catchers smile pathetically, allowing their tormentors to indulge themselves in abuse; the process is seen as a farcical but useful expedient, condescending toward the resentment of these communities. He described one mau-mauer who would show up at the offices and hand over ice-picks, switch-blades and straight-razors that he said were taken from gangs, in exchange for payments from the program. As a result, much of the money of these programs was not reaching its intended recipients, rendering the programs largely ineffective.[1]

    Cultural impact[edit]
The phrase “radical chic” has entered into the political and cultural lexicon to describe the adoption of radical or quasi-radical causes by members of the wealthy high-society and celebrity class.[3] Both essays were later reprinted in Wolfe’s collection The Purple Decades, indicating that he considered them among his best work.[5][6]

  55. Thanks, jtjames, for the link to Michelle’s new china. I’d heard nothing about it. So it’s not American flag blue but Hawaiian blue to honor Barack’s birth place and more modern and edgy than the old stuff from supposedly the last china purchases during the Reagan and Bush Jr. administrations all according to Michelle.

  56. Big media continues to mouth the same hollow self mockeries to justify their miserable existence.

At the correspondence dinner, Brian William’s understudy, Lestor Holt (who names a kid Lestor any more?) blew this one out of his ass:

“Our job is to be the eyes and ears of the American people so that means we need to have access,

Nothing about developing a narrative, censoring news that does not conform, planting stories, planting false evidence, inciting riots etc.

Just being the eyes and ears, and-

    Speaking truth to power

    Without partisanship, or favor

Question: does this self serving tripe describe the Medici courtiers called the Washington Press Corp(se).

Question: why have they covered up the Obama scandals, if the truth is what they are after.

Question: do they know what a conflict of interest is—like running a revolving door between big media and this administration.

Question: if they are the eyes and ears of the American People, how do you square that statement with the claim of the head of MSNBC Phil Griffin: we are not outsiders–we are insiders in the Obama Administration.

Question: is this jackal an even bigger liar than Ly’n Brian? Or are the honors about equal.

Conclusion: these are lying cocksuckers, who pretend to be something they are not. They are a disservice to the American People.

  57. McCain, you may recall, was a member of the infamous Keating 5. His bona fides are at best questionable. His judgment on the other hand is not. It is atrocious. He is an angry man, who goes off like a fire cracker at the least provocation. And, worst of all, he is part of the uni-party that runs Washington, extorts money from congress and is openly and covertly hostile to any and every assault on the citadel by grass roots activists. He goes out of his way to destroy them, except at times when he is playing video poker during congressional hearing. Want (more) proof? Well, in that case, read this piece from a real watchdog group—Judicial Watch:
    ——–
When Judicial Watch recently disclosed the latest batch of records involving the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) scandalous targeting of conservative groups, some news outlets determined that Senator John McCain, not only knew about it, but also pressured the agency to actually attack Tea Party nonprofits.

JW never claimed the government documents establish that McCain or his staff called on the IRS to target or attack conservatives, but the records do show that former IRS official Lois Lerner was pressured by both Democrat Senator Carl Levin and McCain, an Arizona Republican, for IRS action against political advocacy groups. In fact, the records reveal that Lerner met with select top staffers from the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee in a “marathon” meeting to discuss concerns raised by both Levin and McCain that the IRS was not reining in political advocacy groups in response to the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision.

But does that mean McCain urged the IRS to specifically target Tea Party conservative groups like one online media outlet reported in the aftermath of JW’s latest record release? Or does it prove that the veteran senator pressured Lerner to attack conservatives as another internet outfit reported? “It wasn’t just the Obama Regime and the Democrats who were scheming with the Obama IRS to attack the freedom-loving, Constitution-supporting Tea Party grassroots movement,” according to that report. “It was establishment-backed Republican Senator John McCain, an unabashed enemy of conservatives who once called his conservative colleagues, wacko birds.”

The lashing bothered McCain enough to issue JW a written statement denying that his office had anything to do with the IRS targeting of conservative groups. In the statement the senator refers to JW’s work sparking a “series of online reports falsely claiming that my office was somehow involved in the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups – reports that are demonstrably untrue and totally contradicted by my all of my actions over the past several years on this issue.” As evidence McCain offers a link to a dissenting report he released last fall refuting the Democrats’ Majority Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI) report claiming the IRS showed no bias against conservative groups. He also includes a newswire story published around the same time as proof that “media coverage at the time noted that I was in total disagreement with Senate Democrats on the issue of whether the IRS targeted conservative groups.”

McCain’s statement to JW goes on: “Like so many Americans, I was shocked and appalled by revelations that the IRS inappropriately singled out conservative groups for scrutiny, and that our tax system was used to target political opponents. As Ranking Member of the Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, I devoted significant time and resources to help get to the bottom of this disturbing abuse of power by the IRS. Any article suggesting otherwise is simply wrong, and ignores the facts of my actions over the last several years.”

It’s not just news articles suggesting that McCain’s office may have been involved in the IRS scandal. The original founder of the Tea Party Patriots, Mark Meckler, wrote a piece last week questioning the senator’s version of events. Tea Party groups suspected all along that Republicans and Democrats worked together to crush their common enemy, actual conservatives, according to Meckler’s piece. “Maybe, just maybe, Senator McCain did not mind the IRS’ attempts to stifle the First Amendment rights of Tea Party citizens,” Meckler writes. “Maybe his shock at Lerner’s revelation was just as fake as the outrage from the White House.”

We (big media) are the eyes and ears of the American People watching over those in power and holding them accountable.

Here is a question for this Brian Williams Wannabe:

There is nothing saintly or virtuous about them. Nothing. And nothing will come of nothing.

  60. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/04/29/source-baltimore-mayor-ordered-police-to-stand-down/

Despite a firm denial by Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, a senior law enforcement source charges that she gave an order for police to stand down as riots broke out Monday night, raising more questions about whether some of the violence and looting could have been prevented.

The source, who is involved in the enforcement efforts, confirmed to Fox News there was a direct order from the mayor to her police chief Monday night, effectively tying the hands of officers as they were pelted with rocks and bottles.

Asked directly if the mayor was the one who gave that order, the source said: “You are God damn right it was.”

The claim follows criticism of the mayor for, over the weekend, saying they were giving space to those who “wished to destroy.”

  62. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/417601/riot-plagued-baltimore-catastrophe-entirely-democratic-partys-own-making-kevin-d

St. Louis has not had a Republican mayor since the 1940s, and in its most recent elections for the board of aldermen there was no Republican in the majority of the contests; the city is overwhelmingly Democratic, effectively a single-party political monopoly from its schools to its police department. Baltimore has seen two Republicans sit in the mayor’s office since the 1920s — and none since the 1960s. Like St. Louis, it is effectively a single-party political monopoly from its schools to its police department. Philadelphia has not elected a Republican mayor since 1948. The last Republican to be elected mayor of Detroit was congratulated on his victory by President Eisenhower. Atlanta, a city so corrupt that its public schools are organized as a criminal conspiracy against its children, last had a Republican mayor in the 19th century. Its municipal elections are officially nonpartisan, but the last Republican to run in Atlanta’s 13th congressional district did not manage to secure even 30 percent of the vote; Atlanta is effectively a single-party political monopoly from its schools to its police department.

American cities are by and large Democratic-party monopolies, monopolies generally dominated by the so-called progressive wing of the party. The results have been catastrophic, and not only in poor black cities such as Baltimore and Detroit. Money can paper over some of the defects of progressivism in rich, white cities such as Portland and San Francisco, but those are pretty awful places to be non-white and non-rich, too: Blacks make up barely 9 percent of the population in San Francisco, but they represent 40 percent of those arrested for murder, and they are arrested for drug offenses at ten times their share of the population. Criminals make their own choices, sure, but you want to take a look at the racial disparity in educational outcomes and tell me that those low-income nine-year-olds in Wisconsin just need to buck up and bootstrap it?

Black urban communities face institutional failure across the board every day. There are people who should be made to answer for that: What has Martin O’Malley to say for himself?

  63. at the risk of repeating myself…

I want to hear Hillary speak out on issues that make sense for rebuilding the middle class and ‘lifting people out of poverty’ with polices that are constructive…

I hope she is not going to be zigzagging all over the place with no center…

if she, or her people, do read here…I would like to hear her start talking about the need to make time to take care of us “at home”…the world knows all we do for people all over the world…but Americans are hurting here at home…

…and the American citizens are always the last one on the list…while always getting stuck with the bills as taxpayers…we covered for the banks, the car companies, on and on…enough…we cannot keep going in debt to help everyone else while our own cities are falling apart…on fire…and our kids are just learning how to become delinquents…

and I would like to hear her say she wants to take a time out…and champion policies and conditions that will make life better, stronger and easier for Americans…

today she said “Baltimore is burning” and she is planning on doing a speech about it soon…

Does Hillary really believe in her heart of hearts that now is the time to allow massive illegal immigration…and a trade deal that is sure to send more jobs across the sea and definitely drive down wages here in the USA…

How will Hillary reconcile preaching “wage equality” with millions of illegals given carte blanche and benefits…and who will work for low wages…and a secret trade deal that drives jobs out of the country…

Are those two policies really going to help all those kids we keep hearing about in Baltimore and across the country that have nothing to do and no jobs…

Are those policies really going to help their out of work parents?

Are those policies really going to create more jobs at home and increase salaries???

please…let’s be honest…the answer is NO…people have not recovered from NAFTA…all those jobs that left the USA are never coming back…jobs that supported families, students, the under educated, etc…

Does anyone believe that unemployed Americans are going to have it easier competing with millions of low wage illegals that are in our country…and millions of low wage workers that live in China, Viet Nam, Australia, etc, etc, etc?

…just how is she going to create jobs for legal Americans…how is she going to support small businesses in the USA…how is she going to square the doubletalk and duplicity when those two policies mentioned above are diametrically opposed to creating jobs for the unemployed in the USA…

She is going to sound foolish and very inauthentic…particularly to Democrats…

I want to hear her come out strong for saying “it is time to care for Americans…they are hurting…they have given and given…generously to people all over the world…and now it is time to rebuild our communities at home…

Baltimore is not the only city that is “on fire” or ready to explode…

…What will be the bedrock of her campaign…will she be the champion of putting her attention on Americans that need jobs here in the USA…or will she give in and go out on a limb to bolster O’s legacy and then be stuck having to implement the disasters he leaves behind…

I want to hear her say something like…those are good ideas…but for another time…now is not the time for massive immigration or sketchy trade deals…we will revisit that later…now is the time for taking care of home…now is the time to put out the fires here at home…

(she can layer all of that with foreign policy, bla, bla, bla…but what is going to be the center…and who is at the center…of the motivation for her Presidency)

I do not want to hear alot of mumble jumble doubletalk that we all know will not work

I want her to convince us that she “gets it” and it is time to put struggling Americans first…and mean it…

  65. Washington Post picks up on the O’Malley angle:

COLUMBIA, S.C.—Democrat Martin O’Malley weighed in Saturday on the national debate about policing that now includes the city where he was mayor, and where the police strategies he implemented provoked heated debate.

Speaking to an audience of party activists here, O’Malley called the police-custody death of Freddie Gray part of “a painful history in our country, a legacy that we continue to work on and work through and seek to overcome every day.”

“We have been seeing far too many tragic videos of police-involved deaths in our country,” said O’Malley, who became Maryland governor after serving as Baltimore mayor, and is considering a White House bid. “We have to make all our institutions more open and transparent.”

It was as a crime-busting mayor some 15 years ago that O’Malley first gained national attention. Although he is positioning himself as a progressive alternative to Hillary Clinton, O’Malley also touts a police crackdown during his time as mayor that led to a stark reduction in drug violence and homicides as one of his major achievements.

Yet some civic leaders and community activists in Baltimore portray O’Malley’s policing policies in troubling terms. The say the “zero-tolerance” approach mistreated young black men even as it helped dramatically reduce crime, fueling a deep mistrust of law enforcement that flared anew last week when Gray died after suffering a spinal injury while in police custody.

Police in Baltimore — like their counterparts elsewhere — have had strained relations with African Americans for generations. But community leaders say the relationship reached a nadir during O’Malley’s tenure, thanks to a policing strategy that resulted in tens of thousands of arrests for minor offenses such as loitering and littering.

  66. I think Hillary would be strenghtened with divided govt…the dems are not mature enough to run all branches and the whole govt unless it is to run it over a cliff…

I think what Hillary actually said in the video actually makes a lot of sense. The whole thing does warrants national debate. Including the black male culture of crime where there is pier pressure (bullying) perpetuated on and by young black men to fail in school and become criminal.

Another aspect is the drop in violent crime that many claim is the result of incarceration but has other explanations that are environmental, particularly relating to lead. http://cen.acs.org/articles/92/i5/Crimes-Lead.html

The case can be made that removing lead from gasoline is the primary reason that crime has dropped. I have heard rumors that there have actually been studies done on blood lead level of violent offenders in jail that confirm this, but the data suppressed because jail is Big Business and “we don’t want to give those criminals any excuses” stuff.

Add to that that other sources of lead, old house paint and plumbing, still exist and that socioeconomically disadvantaged people have higher exposure, you have an environmental case for reevaluation.

By the way, the EPA that was disassembled under Bush was not restored by Obama and they have dropped the ball on any progress in the reduction of lead in our environment.

The CDC dropped the blood levels for what constitutes lead poisoning. Children can reach that level consuming drinking water that meets EPA standards.

    Yes, we need a reevaluation.

    We need Hillary.

  69. If you believe lead in paint is the reason for high black crime rates
..I, have a bridge to sell. Its not even a contributing factor.
Hillary pretty much sold out the old coalition, she has moved too far left..Guess what, they still won’t vote for her!
What the black community needs is intact families, 71% of black children are born to unwed mothers and the majority of those are on welfare of some kind…The Great society has failed us all.Yet, we continue to throw more of our money, middle class $, resulting in horrible results. I believe that’s the definition of insanity. .. bad

  70. gonztx,

Actually, what I am saying is that the reduction of lead toxins, primarily in gas, as well as paint and your drinking water, is a major factor in the reduction in violent crime. If you believe that incarcerating people for minor crimes has reduced violent crime, I see why you own that bridge.

Once the power brokers at the Democratic Party realize that he is toxic waste after Baltimore’s riots, they be even more desperate to pressure Warren to toss her hat into the ring in order to try to avoid nominating Hillary.

  72. LuPuma,

I don’t believe for a minute there is a correlation between lead and violence, now lead and retardation, that’s another story.
The great untold story is that 75% of our major cities are populated with unwed black children and their mothers, whom are subsisted of one kind, many kinds, all on our dime, the middle class, and all the Democratic leadership, which is the case 95% of the time, want more of our money.. There is no family unit, there is minimal parenting. People of other race’s have for all purposes abandoned them, and where they haven’t, they have pushed them out for gentrification. Nobody wants to live with that population.
    Children having children.
I would like to see the statistics Po for these “minor” crimes…3 strikes and your out has not been what it was hoped to be and has led to incarceration for life that most likely would not have happened before the law. But then again, why was the law instituted? Because of numerous repeat offenders, DWI felonies walking around, drinking, driving, killing…
If your the one being robbed, how minor is that?
Do we want minor MJ offenders in jail, no, but even looking at the rap sheets of these guys that have met their end by the police, they are a mile long.
All I know is I want to live in a safe city, I want Rudy G as my mayor. Bleeding hearts, unfortunately Hillary appears to have made that choice, will not solve these issues

  73. I don’t mean to imply that some of these abusive actions by a few police are excusable because they had a long rap sheet of minor offenses…No one deserves that.

  74. The whole thing does warrants national debate. Including the black male culture of crime where there is pier pressure (bullying) perpetuated on and by young black men to fail in school and become criminal.
    ________________

Lu, I agree with this. i have black friends who are moms and whose sons who were good students were given a tough time by some of their AA classmates who were thugs and wannabe gang bangers.

IMHO one of the greatest needs in the black community is for vocal, positive AA role models , especially male role models. That said, there have been such role models, but they have typically been rejected, accused of being “too white”, or something equally ridiculous. The black community has generally rejected messages that called for personal responsibility and accountability, and admonished them not to blame all of their problems on “Whitey”.

Along comes Barack, to whom they will listen. But, the message he brings reaffirms the same old mindset that some have embraced for years. He has encouraged dependence on government. He has glorified criminals and their behavior, and on and on and on. A great opportunity missed – had he given a damn about his (half) people, he would have empowered them to act in their own best interests . He gives a damn only about using them and their votes.

He has been a master at exploiting his own (half) people.

  75. Remember the myth of the “gentle giant”? We said wait for the facts from both sides. Now the police side of the argument in the Baltimore Freddie Gray story begins to emerge:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/crime/prisoner-in-van-said-freddie-gray-was-banging-against-the-walls-during-ride/2015/04/29/56d7da10-eec6-11e4-8666-a1d756d0218e_story.html?tid=hpModule_99d5f542-86a2-11e2-9d71-f0feafdd1394

Prisoner in van said Freddie Gray was ‘trying to injure himself,’ document says

BALTIMORE — A prisoner sharing a police transport van with Freddie Gray told investigators that he could hear Gray “banging against the walls” of the vehicle and believed that he “was intentionally trying to injure himself,” according to a police document obtained by The Washington Post.

The prisoner, who is currently in jail, was separated from Gray by a metal partition and could not see him. His statement is contained in an application for a search warrant, which is sealed by the court. The Post was given the document under the condition that the prisoner not be named because the person who provided it feared for the inmate’s safety.

The document, written by a Baltimore police investigator, offers the first glimpse of what might have happened inside the van. It is not clear whether any additional evidence backs up the prisoner’s version, which is just one piece of a much larger probe.

Let the facts speak. This could be a police cover-up. This could be proof of another unfair/unjust attack against the police. Let the facts speak.

  76. Amen, Admin. Decent people whether white or black want just treatment of all Americans – not just those of our own respective races. The problem is that facts are not the driving factor in some of the riots and racial conflict – as in the case of Ferguson and with Trayvon. Inciting racial conflict serves the political agenda of Obama and his progs. Promoting the propaganda and race baiting of Barack serves the agenda of MSM which is to uphold the fallen president with every word of fake news they release.

  77. The whole thing does warrants national debate.

    Absolutely.

And I think Americans are itching for that conversation. But remember when Holder said that white Americans are too cowardly to have a conversation? He said that because in his and many others’ minds, the conversation is supposed to be one-sided.

The cowardice is *theirs* because the last thing they want is a real “conversation” (which of course presumes more than one person/point of view talking). They don’t want to hear the opposing points of views. All they want to do is keep pretending it’s still 1950 (everything is everyone else’s fault) and to keep providing ridiculous excuses for the terrible behavior of so many of Obama’s sons.

We keep diminishing the expectations for them and enabling them to be dependent on government. We’re letting them normalize what is atrocious behavior (they’re just “letting off steam” or “they’re just angry – equating emotions with behavior when they are two different things).

We’ve forgotten the old adage about “teach a person to fish and they’ll have a lifetime of food, but give them a fish and they’ll have one day of food”.

I say “we” but it’s the politicians and the black activists who financially benefit from teaching people it’s still 1950. Most everyone else is busy working and feeling powerless to halt the freight train of distorted perceptions.

  78. If you believe lead in paint is the reason for high black crime rates

I think poor parenting (often actually grandparenting) plays a huge part in this. I don’t necessarily believe that someone needs two parents, if the one parent is a good one. But many studies have shown that these parents don’t intellectually stimulate their babies, they just stick them out of the way in a crib. They don’t talk to them (studies show how many words “good” parents speak per day to their kids, which is waaay higher than “bad” parents). They don’t allow the kid to explore the environment. They don’t even put up a mobile for the kid to watch. I can’t remember the exact mechanism, but it’s something like the kids’ neurons don’t build a normal number of pathways, and also the number of neurons is limited – leading to a permanent limit on their IQ. On TOP of that, add in a possibly abusive home environment, drugs and alcohol always around, etc – and their chances at succeeding in life go even further down.

But I also suspect many of these kids are born to alcoholic or drug addicted mothers (which is why so many are raised by their grandmothers – who may themselves have not raised their own kids). Besides the environmental issues, they may be actually born with limits on their IQ. Which leads to poor planning, impulsive behavior, inability to comprehend more complex situations, poor introspective abilities (which can help us understand and change for the better).

Bottom line – I think this is something only blacks can fix for themselves.

  79. Your right lorac, it’s time for the black community to reclaim their identity and nurture their children and family structure. Once upon a time they very much had strong family ties.
That won’t happen till they take responsibility for their actions and stop blaming everyone else.
I don’t care who you are, a woman alone, trying to raise teen aged boys is almost beyond comprehension

  80. GonzoTx, it’s all racism you know. Here’s the latest loon at the Washington Post:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2015/04/29/why-is-america-celebrating-the-beating-of-a-black-child/

Why is America celebrating the beating of a black child?

It’s not surprising that a black mother in Baltimore who chased down, cursed and beat her 16-year-old son in the middle of a riot has been called a hero. In this country, when black mothers fulfill stereotypes of mammies, angry and thwarting resistance to a system designed to kill their children, they get praised. [snip]

In other words, Graham’s message to America is: I will teach my black son not to resist white supremacy so he can live. [snip]

The beatings originated with white supremacy, a history of cultural and physical violence that devalues black life at every turn. From slavery through Jim Crow, from the school-to-prison pipeline, the innocence and protection of black children has always been a dream deferred.

Tyler Perry Madea is a racist too we suppose.

  81. Admin

Tyler Perry Madea is a racist too we suppose.

    ______________

And apparently, and idiot as well.

  82. IMO, part of the problem today is that people, both black and white, have little knowledge or understanding of history.

In the 1990s when my daughter was in junior high school, she was shocked when one of her black classmates, who clearly had a problem with whites (and a poor understanding of history) lashed out at her stating, “Your grandfather probably owned my grandfather as a slave”.

I have head other young people – both black and white – talk about slavery as if it happened last year. No understanding of the time period, the context, the whites who fought for abolition. Nothing. Obviously, the fact that it ended in 1863 does not decrease the injustice of it. But to look only at slavery and the other injustices without looking at the efforts by both races to right some of the wrongs if to understand only half the picture.

  83. Free

He has been a master at exploiting his own (half) people.

    ——-
In 2008 another AA PUMA said that there is a title they have for people like this…

he is Slick Rick the Poverty Pimp

  84. The whole thing does warrants national debate.

    ——–
As another white person, we can debate until we are blue in the face.

The real conversations have to mainly be in the black community. I agree, role models are very important, but having no real father in a home that helps his son stay on track, is the main problem.

Most of these families only have one mother to provide everything for her family. Welfare or part of our working poor, it is damn hard. If the mom works, who watches her children?

Most black children these days are raised by moms and grandmothers.

Then we get into the degrading rap music. Not all is bad, but most of it is degrading women, using them as sexual tools, and young girls play into the image, get pregnant at a young age, abandoned by the ‘babydaddy’…no wonder they don’t use the word ‘father’.

  85. Administration 9:28am…how insane is that!
It wasn’t the “beating”, though I will tell you, my parents would have used a cat of nine tails on me, and if you don’t know what that is, you are a lucky person. it was a mother taking personal responsibility to parent a teen that could very well of ended up in jail or prison, or dead.
She was willing to do what ever it took to literally knock some sense into him. Someday he will get on his knees and thank her.

  86. Michael Moore should go live in the Ghetto of Detroit or Chicago and then come back and discuss cops without guns.
Or maybe he should be a traffic cop for a month, unarmed…yeah, I would like to see that.

    He’s an idiot. I remember when I respected him.YIKES!

  87. Black racists are as bad as white racists.
I mention the following chance I get because it involves a conversation I had with a good friend at work – named Audrey. We worked together in Newark NJ 1980’s when forced workplace integration was in full bloom. My being her supervisor was no problem to her. We became good friends there.

Audrey, a bronze-skinned AA grew up in an AA town. When she married Don, who was very black, the couple was kicked out of that town. Both lovely people. Both gone. Town was in NJ. Don’t know which one.

Straight from her lips to my ears. But Holder and Obama and probably Lynch too – not ready to have that conversation.
