Ex-Lax Cupcakes For DeBlasio And Obama

Former New York governor Eliot Spitzer campaigned for and passed laws targeting the clients of street walkers as well as the prostitutes themselves. It turned out Eliot Spitzer was “Client 9” at a whorehouse emporium and was eventually snared by his own curse in a drama as old as the Oedipus Rex drama from ancient Greece. Spitzer is not the only fool that runs for office on purity of purpose and hope and change and transparency but all along they are screwing the public.

Enter New York Mayor Bill De Blasio – the new King of the DailyKooks. We have warned before about getting too close to this one and our warnings will only get louder. De Blasio is supposed to be the new everyman taking care of the everyman. De Blasio is supposed to be the opposite of plutocrat billionaire ex-mayor Bloomberg but it was Bloomberg that at least for show occasionally took the subway partially to work.

The story begins with Bill De Blasio taking a tactic from Barack Obama and blaming others for his inadequacies and blunders. De Blasio blamed the weather service instead of taking responsibility for his decision to keep schools open during a recent snowstorm. Obama blames the staff or someone else. De Blasio chose to blame the weather service. Former jolly ex-fat man Al Roker blasted DeBlasio for lying:

“Following criticism from even the teachers union, De Blasio accused the National Weather Service of underestimating the amount of snowfall there would be overnight on Thursday. [snip]

Long range DiBlasio forecast: 1 term” [snip]

“How dare @NYCMayorsOffice @NYCSchools throw NWS under the school bus. Forecast was on time and on the money”

De Blasio blamed the weather service for a bad/late forecast. When Roker noted that the forecast was correct and on time DeBlasio attacked Roker. How Obama is that?

Political cronies protected by De Blasio? Check.

Then came the truckload of troubles chauffeured by De Blasio himself in a way only Eliot Spitzer can fully appreciate:

De Blasio jaywalks as he preaches road safety

He talks the talk — but won’t walk the walk.

Mayor de Blasio, who has been lecturing about pedestrian safety since he stepped foot in City Hall, strolled across a Brooklyn street against the light Friday in a blatant jaywalking violation.

Hizzoner was gabbing on his old-school flip-phone as he slowly made his way across 11th Street on Sixth Avenue in Park Slope — and his NYPD detail faithfully jaywalked with him.

A Post reporter caught the foot faux pas on video a day after de Blasio’s SUV was filmed blowing through two stop signs in Queens and twice going 15 mph over the speed limit.

Jay-walking is a time honored tradition in New York City. Rudy Giuliani tried to stop the practice but even the police turned their heads rather than take on pedestrians exercising their jay-walking prerogatives. But if you are going to be preaching about traffic safety and other humbug shouldn’t you be most observant of the law? For De Blasio it is an Obama style “Do as I dictate, not as I do.

Speeding through streets after lecturing citizens of the need to drive slower under the heel of lower speed limits was not the end of the De Blasio hypocrisy. Jay walking with the phone at his ear like a teenager or happy go lucky young person (or as Michelle Obama calls them “knuckleheads”) after preaching traffic safety to the masses did not end the lies nor the hypocrisy. De Blasio tried the transparently mendacious “security protocols” excuse. De Blasio claimed to be helpless about the speeding violations because the decisions are made by his security people and not himself. It must have been the security detail that forced him to jaywalk too.

Speeding through streets, disregarding signs, disdainful of speed limits, jaywalking while talking on the phone – all while dictating to others about following lower speed limits and traffic safety – was just the set-up. The plutocrat is dead, long live the plutocrat:

“De Blasio’s predecessor, Michael Bloomberg, reminded his drivers to follow the rules of the road and made a vow not to speed through the streets with lights and sirens unless he was rushing to an “enormous emergency.

The new mayor has made pedestrian safety a key objective of his administration. On Tuesday, he laid out a sweeping “Vision Zero” initiative to end traffic deaths that includes lowering the city speed limit to 25 mph.

De Blasio was then hit by an on-coming truck driven by himself:

“Bill de Blasio Refuses to Take ‘Speedgate’ Questions Despite Vow

Despite repeatedly promising this morning that he’d take questions about the controversy surrounding his caravan breaking multiple traffic laws, Mayor Bill de Blasio shut down questions on the topic at an unrelated press conference this evening.

Before walking away as reporters shouted questions at him, Mr. de Blasio read a brief statement referring to NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton’s earlier comments defending the conduct of the mayor’s security detail. [snip]

His aides further declined to take questions on the issue.

This morning outside his home, Mr. de Blasio also refused to answer questions about the controversy, which involved his caravan running multiple stop signs and going up to 15 miles per hour over the speed limit just days after announcing a new push to lower traffic speeds across the five boroughs. At the time, however, he vowed to take off-topic questions at this evening’s event.

We’ll have a press conference later on and we’ll have a chance later on to talk to you about a variety of issues including … anything else you want to ask about,” he assured.

You can ask all the questions you want,” he added as he was pressed. “You can ask any other questions you like … You can ask any and all questions.

Eliot Spitzer hypocrisy alert!: New “progressive” mayor replaces billionaire mayor – acts more like a plutocrat than the billionaire – issues calls for new laws he won’t follow – refuses to answer questions about the hypocrisy and inconsistencies – promises to answer “any and all” questions – refuses to answer questions.

New York Big Media might be a bunch of snoozers protective of Barack Obama and ready-willing-able-happy to attack Republican Chris Christie on a regular basis but the De Blasio imperiousness got to even these knuckleheads-chuckleheads-numbskulls. They took to twitter to react to his imperial high lord mayor of the new York:

“As @BilldeBlasio left Blue Room without taking questions, disbelieving reporters shouted after him. Press aides refusing to talk further.

Michael Howard Saul: Reporters pushed out of West Wing of City Hall. Angry mob. Reporters saying they have never seen something like this.

Andrew J. Hawkins: Did anyone clock de Blasio’s speed as he dashed out of the Blue Room?

Colby Hamilton: Wow. De Blasio just bolted out of the presser, refusing to answer qs about his security details traffic scandal.

Azi: Yes, mayor who vowed transparency & was credited with having a grt campaign communication strategy is ducking reporters & refusing to talk

Danielle Tcholakian: The speeding itself may be a non-story, but not taking questions makes the issue about transparency and access, two things he promised.

Michael Powell: Man up time for new mayor? Mayor de Blasio looking not ready for prime time in response to relatively easy stuff

Gloria Pazmino: Bill de Blasio has thrown gasoline into this fire.. The City Hall press corps won’t take finger off the dial now.

Clyde Haberman: BdB’s press strategy seems to be to go out of his way, not even 2 mos. into his term, to smugly alienate those covering him.

Chester Jesus Soria: @BilldeBlasio’s campaign page on transparency and reform is a great read: http://bit.ly/1eeFHm6

Casey Seiler: Someone needs to take away @BilldeBlasio’s apparently well-read copy of “Mismanaging Bad Press for Dummies.”

Grace Rauh: Reporters are shocked de Blasio just walked out of here without taking questions. This just means the story will linger.

Dana Rubinstein: I don’t get the press strategy. Does he think reporters won’t have the same questions on Monday? Isn’t it better to bury it on a Friday eve?

Bob Hardy: A great moment in City Hall transparency: Why bother holding press conferences if you only take questions that you want to hear?

Michael Barbaro: Not taking off-topic question is not really an option with the NYC press corp, as de Blasio is about to discover

Celeste Katz: Quite seriously, who concluded it was a good idea for the mayor to literally walk away from that Q&A?

In short: Give De Blasio an Ex-Lax cupcake ’cause he’s full of sh*t.

When we read the comment “Yes, mayor who vowed transparency & was credited with having a grt campaign communication strategy is ducking reporters & refusing to talk” we thought of someone else who promised transparency, ran a tight campaign communications shop and now imperiously refuses to answer questions. Now who could that be?

#Speedgate and questions about hypocrisy, transparency and lies won’t go away because New York City Big Media won’t let them go away. When we read the comments about how the press corps is now challenged and won’t take this sitting down and shutting up we wondered “Where is this attitude by Big Media when it comes to Barack Obama???

Imagine if Big Media relentlessly asked questions of Barack Obama and his many failures and lies. Imagine if just this past week Big Media asked why Obama has been silent, too busy golfing last weekend, about Venezuela – as an American enemy and rogue government is on the run – but when it is American allies in trouble (think Mubarak) Obama demands they be removed. Imagine if this week Big Media asked Obama why he demanded Mubarak be destroyed then remained silent when Mubarak was imprisoned – then when Muslim Brotherhood Morsi did worse than Mubarak Barack Obama was silent but protested when Morsi was imprisoned – then Obama demanded Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood be consulted as Egypt transitions. Imagine if Big Media relentlessly asked Barack Obama why he remained silent while the Ukraine burned and Russia temporarily triumphed over the West? Imagine if Big Media relentlessly pursued the Obama lies about ObamaCare and the ceaseless loop of failure. Just imagine.

For now a Big Media relentlessly seeking the truth from liar Barack Obama remains to the imagination not in the real American nation.

Mayor Bill De Blasio deserves a dozen Ex-law cupcakes because he is full of sh*t. Treacherous Boob Barack Obama and Big Media deserve at least a twelve tier Ex-lax cake because they all full of sh*t. It’s time for a purge.

  1. Not at all like the phony “Arab Spring” nor the bullcrap Occupy Wall Street. This is more like the glorious Prague Spring:

  2. Where is Occupy Wall Street? Time for a purge here too:

“Venezuela’s cities are convulsed with riots. A local beauty queen was shot in the head during protests over . . . well, everything: chronic shortages of basic goods, increasing repression of free speech by a government that clearly feels it cannot tolerate any dissent. She is not the only person to have been killed in recent days. The government is cracking down — hard — on any and all opposition.

It seems to me that this was always the inevitable end game to the disastrous policies of the late President Hugo Chavez. Diverting funds from capital investment into the nation’s oil fields was politically popular. But it was also disastrous: Venezuela’s oil is sludgy stuff, hard to get at and hard to refine, and it requires a high level of capital expenditure just to keep production level. Predictably, production is now well below pre-Chavez levels. That wasn’t so much of a problem as long as oil prices kept rising, because they offset lost production. But the price of Venezuela’s crude is no longer rising: [snip]

As the economy has deteriorated, the government has resorted to dubious stopgaps such as price controls. The price controls have produced more shortages, leading to more stopgaps . . . and more political repression to control complaints about the shortages and stopgaps. People made much of the fact that Chavez won elections — but less of the fact that he won them in the context of government policies that required television stations to broadcast hours of his speeches every week. And that he silenced stations that opposed him.

This has only continued to get worse under President Nicolas Maduro. Having shrunk the space for legitimate opposition so far, its only outlet seems to be the streets.

Reminds us of the aborted temporarily FCC attempt to further harness Big Media.

  3. For now a Big Media relentlessly seeking the truth from liar Barack Obama remains to the imagination not in the real American nation.
Like I told the professor, they never will because they have promoted Obama as the culmination of the civil right movement without vetting him to find out what he is really about. And now, as the angry ossified child emerges from behind the mask and start carpet bombing all the institutions of a democratic republic—including the press itself, they find themselves between a rock and a hard place. He is a race hustler, every bit as much as Sharpton, Jackson, and Jealous. Watch what he does whenever we see some vague stirrings of the journalistic impulse from the emaciated corpse of big media. He goes running to the civil rights porn palace and starts the chatter about being a black president. I swear he has got big media by the balls, and they are left with only two choices. To continue their worshipful ways, or to remain silent. It is PRECISELY because they have promoted him as a civil rights icon, trophy, mascot call him what you will, that they cannot now confront him on what he is doing to the country. The only ray of sunshine here is that millions of Americans today, not only distrust big media, they despise them, and they vote with their channel changer. Over time they will lose their influence entirely, and will be reduced to nothing more than one more opinion.

  4. During the 2008 general election the angry deranged gay editor of The Stranger which is a local left wing rag sent his staff out to all corners of the city of Seattle to find people who had McCain signs in their front yard, and then posted their addresses in his newspaper so his readers could trash those homes, which a few of them subsequently did. This joker took his marching orders from the Obama campaign. Well, past is prologue because now that we have a depression where jobs are concerned the big media beloved Obama has decided to increase the federal minimum wage and the CBO has projected that will cost 1 million jobs. Shortly thereafter front cover page story of this utterly useless rag talks about the need to increase wage rates, and asks who among us is living in poverty because they do not receive $15 per hour. Another coordinated campaign by this toilet paper rag and Obama. The Seattle Times deranged editor Blethan will then pick it up from there. Yet another example of how the totalitarian manipulates the mass man. He talks about equality and social justice, which has always been the alibi of tyrants. And the starving mass man responds in kind by burning down a bread factory. It is part Felini, and part 52% flew over the cuckoos nest.

  5. Admin: before I read your article I was going to say something nice about Kaiser Wilhelm of New York. Like maybe it is a good thing and a to see a left wing totalitarian beast attack the wealthy limousine liberals of the upper east side who voted for him, rather than the beleaguered middle class. But then I realized, there is no middle class in New York City anymore. It is a menagerie of super rich and super poor–and a harbinger of this nation’s future the way everything is headed. But wait a minute, our hour of redemption is at hand. Boehner is retiring and Cantor and Rogers are girding their loins for combat. My bet is they will surrender faster than the Italian Army. I remember a year at Annapolis we played Notre Dame. Our football team was about the level of a high school team. My roommate was the back up quarterback and that was his assessment, as well as mine. Nevertheless, the academy geared up for this game, to a fever pitch which was exceeded only be the game against Army Mule–the k dets on the Hudson. The football team made a pledge to sacrifice themselves for victory. And they did. The final score: Notre Dame 56–Navy 0. I expect the RINO stand against Obama will go about the same way.

  6. If things were different, they wouldn’t be the same. Scratch that. If things were different and there was a scintilla of trust by the Republicans of Obama, then I might surmise that this High Noon scenario is orchestrated, a deal has already been secretly agreed to and this is all just theater. But here I believe that sort of trust is lacking, and with the extra terrestrial McConnell running for his life in Kentucky, I do not think the RINOS are of a mind to stick their necks out, so Bambi can chop them off. So quo vadis? I smell another strategic retreat, when the bankers start pulling their chains. Whereupon they will sell us down the river, again.

  7. David Horowitz understands the left from having been in it. He was a red diaper baby and a student protest leader during the Viet Nam War. Later, he had a road to Damascus moment and he flipped over to the side of the Constitution and American People. I brought him in to a fundraising even in Sun Valley to be the guest speaker. I spent a day with him, and was impressed. He agrees with me that the apparent mistakes and lies we see from Obama are part of the destructive phase of their creative discussion agenda. Most people believe these are innocent mistakes, but the truth is they are neither mistakes nor innocent. Well, enough chatter. Here is what he has to say, and it is not merely important but crucial to understanding Obama and those around him.
David Horowitz Exposes Why Progressives Must Lie

by Spyridon Mitsotakis 22 Feb 2014 62 post a comment

In his book Disinformation, Ion Mihai Pacepa, the highest-ranking Soviet Bloc official ever to defect to the United States, describes the Soviet intelligence practice called “framing” – changing someone’s or something’s past to suit present political needs.

The Soviets perfected this into a science. Jamie Glazov, editor of FrontPageMag.com, detailed a personal encounter with this Marxist science when he described a 1971 document KGB chairman Yuri Andropov wrote about Jamie’s father, Soviet dissident Yuri Glazov:

Yuri Andropov is discussing the operation to put the drugs and the documents into the apartment and then five pages later is discussing my father being a drug trafficker and a spy. You see, there’s a self-intoxication here. You create the lie and then somewhere along the process you begin to believe that lie that you yourself have created, and this is a very fascinating phenomenon.

Jamie’s boss, David Horowitz, lived this lie for many years. He knows that without lies, the ideology of the left would cease to exist. This is the central truth Horowitz relentlessly reinforces in Progressives, Volume II of The Black Book of the American Left.

Horowitz wastes no time defining what drives the left. On page 3, he states:

The belief in a perfect future inevitably inspires a passionate (and otherwise inexplicable) hatred towards the imperfect present. The first agenda of social redeemers is to dismantle the existing social order, which means their intellectual and political energies are focused on the work of destruction.

With a false utopia as their goal, the left grants itself permission to commit any crime. With this is a free pass to lie about everything. In their world the victims of Stalin, Ho Chi Minh, and (today) Hamas are all airbrushed from history; the go-to source for political knowledge is Noam Chomsky, the “Guru of the Anti-American Left;” and, most importantly, any deviation is a menace to be snuffed out with an iron fist.

In one of his most revealing essays, Horowitz reviews how in one year (1999), three leading icons of the left were exposed as having crafted fake biographies for themselves:
•Rigoberta Menchu – Claimed to have been a landless peasant and an innocent victim of U.S. Imperialism; was actually from a wealthy landowning family and an agent of a Soviet-backed armed gang which picked a fight with a military dictatorship, then blamed the result on America.
•Betty Friedan – Claimed to have been an ordinary suburban housewife who realized she lived in a “comfortable concentration camp” and took action to liberate women from American home life; was actually a lifelong Communist and an activist dedicated to overturning capitalism – by overturning family values (as Marx and Engels prescribed).
•Edward Said – Claimed to have been a refugee chased from the Jerusalem house he grew up in by a famous Jewish scholar after Israel was created; was actually only born in Jerusalem because his mother was visiting family there when her water broke and spent his entire childhood in Cairo (as Justus Reid Weiner wrote of this discovery: “On [Said’s] birth certificate, prepared by the ministry of health of the British Mandate, his parents specified their permanent address as Cairo, and, indicating that they maintained no residence in Palestine, left blank the space for a local address.”). Additionally, it was Said’s aunt that evicted the Jewish scholar from the house – where he had been legally living with his grandchildren as refugees from Nazi Germany – and not the other way around.

To normal people, living a lie is a sickening existence. In fact, even somewhat abnormal, melancholy people like Edgar Allan Poe recognized the trouble one would have living with a Tell-Tale Heart. However, some people are so morally putrid that they can immerse themselves in a world of falsehoods and still sleep like babies. At the same time, those individuals among the left who are unwilling to be perpetually fake and hypocritical are treated like heretics.

“This tainting and ostracism of sinners is the secret power of the leftist faith,” wrote Horowitz. “It is what keeps the faithful in line.” The late Christopher Hitchens had longtime left-wing “friends” lining up to publicly end their friendships with him when he dared to call out the compulsive lying of Bill Clinton. For all their talk about “comrades”, loyalty to friends, family, and country are secondary and sacrificial to the fib of the day.

In Andrew Breitbart and Stephen K. Bannon’s film Occupy Unmasked, Horowitz explained:

Communism, which killed 100 million people in its course – in peacetime, not in war but in peacetime – and bankrupted whole continents, created unimaginable poverty for a billion people, artificial mass starvation where millions upon millions of people died because of government schemes that didn’t work, showed that this Socialist idea is a bankrupt idea; there’s nothing there.

The ideological foot soldiers of this movement are exposed in Volume II of The Black Book of the American Left.

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:32

  8. Fyi
A friend of mine has a family member who is an NYPD officer. He told me that the security detail for de Blasios wife was pulled shortly into the new administration because she smokes dope daily and they told superiors that they would have to arrest her.
Many. New Yorkers have buyers remorse. Unfortunately we are not as democratic as many other countries. Under our system, a weak or fraudulent politician can’t be easily removed thru parliamentary procedures and we must wait for the next election.

  9. Sounds like the world is in flames. Is this the result of the United States having a corrupt, incompetent leader? The whole world got on the Obama Train back in 2008, a trip into fantasy land.

I guess it takes what it takes to get ready for Hillary.

  10. http://www.weeklystandard.com/articles/obama-calls-retreat_782746.html?utm_campaign=Washington+Examiner&utm_source=washingtonexaminer.com&utm_medium=referral

Kiev is ablaze. Syria is a killing field. The Iranian mullahs aren’t giving up their nuclear weapons capability, and other regimes in the Middle East are preparing to acquire their own. Al Qaeda is making gains and is probably stronger than ever. China and Russia throw their weight around, while our allies shudder and squabble.

Why is this happening? Because the United States is in retreat. What is the Obama administration’s response to these events? Further retreat.

Having withdrawn from Iraq, and seeing it now fall apart, the administration is nonetheless determined to get out of Afghanistan. Its Russia “reset” is a joke, and its “pivot to Asia” an empty slogan. Secretary of State John Kerry huffed and puffed when Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons last year, and asserted it was a Munich moment. How right he was! Kerry came back brandishing a piece of paper, and Assad remains in power.

Having failed to hold Assad accountable for the use of weapons of mass destruction, Kerry now says that global climate change may be the weapon of mass destruction we should most fear. Sure. Meanwhile, in the real world of real weapons, our military is being decimated in size as it is being enervated by political correctness. And on the matter of sheer competence in the execution of foreign policy, to say that we have a B-team in charge is an insult to B-teams everywhere.

We’re tempted to produce at this point appropriate Winston Churchill warnings and statements from the 1930s. But the current situation is almost too pathetic to be worthy of Churchillian exhortation. We’re dealing with no recent memory of the Great War, no Great Depression, no Hitler or Tojo or even a Mussolini. We don’t need extraordinary heroism or exemplary statesmanship to deal with the second- and third-rate threats that we face. We require competent men taking serious measures.

But we don’t have them. And of course second- and third-rate threats, if unchecked, can cause much death and destruction. Minor league gangs and small-time thugs can destroy a neighborhood if there’s no police force. A small infection, if untreated and allowed to spread, can kill as surely as a cancer. Rome fell not to the majestic Hannibal but to groups of unimpressive barbarians. Chaos that results from weakness and dissolution can be as hard to remedy as defeat by formidable and well-organized foes. A panicked retreat can be hard to reverse even if the original opponent isn’t that formidable. It’s undoubtedly true that “Lilies that fester smell far worse than weeds.” But weeds can kill a garden too. And under President Obama, we’ve allowed the weeds to spread and multiply at an amazing rate.

All of which leads us—in this instance at least—to cite the Lincoln of 1838 rather than the Churchill of 1938: “If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of free men, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.” Suicide isn’t yet imminent. But we are on the cusp of accepting—even embracing?—a stance of shirking fearfulness and shrinking timidity. A nation of free men needs at times like this leaders who step forward to “sound forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat.” Obama has a piccolo that only calls retreat.

  11. A new report indicates that, based on Barack Obama’s job approval numbers, the Republican Party has a greater than 80 percent chance of flipping the U.S. Senate in its favor this November. As midterm elections approach, Obama’s popularity continues to wane. According to analysis conducted by Real Clear Politics, the stage is set for a Republican victory even if those numbers rebound prior to voting day.

  13. Sarah Palin Blasts Press: You Only ‘Cry Foul’ When ‘Obama’s Boot is on Your Neck’

Email Article Print article Send a Tip
by Tony Lee 22 Feb 2014 708 post a comment
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin blasted the mainstream press for only holding President Barack Obama accountable when they are impacted by Obama’s overreach and abuses, while not being watchdogs in nearly every other case.

“Lamestream calls for empathy, even outrage, for a First Amendment violation that’s on par with all the abuse we’ve brought to your attention as Obama stomps on our Constitution,” Palin wrote on her Facebook page after the Obama administration’s FCC aborted plans to monitor the country’s newsrooms. “You’ve IGNORED us, you’ve marginalized us, you’ve left us for ‘destroyed.’ But when Obama’s boot is on YOUR neck you finally wake the h*ll up and cry foul? Good Lord.”

Palin, who resolved before the new year to hold the “lapdog media” more accountable, posted her message on Facebook after the FCC backtracked on Friday and said it would not ask newsrooms to answer questions about how they conduct their news-gathering operations. As Breitbart News reported, Mignon Clyburn, the daughter of Fairness Doctrine proponent Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC), has been leading the charge on behalf of the FCC.

Palin linked to a Breitbart News article about many of the Obama administration’s abuses in cracking down on freedom of the press. Proving Palin’s point, one of the only other times the mainstream press held the Obama administration to account was after revelations that the administration intercepted email and phone messages from mainstream media journalists for national security purposes.

  14. The reason I am focusing now on the Republican situation is because it will define who Hillary faces in the general election. That is kind of important. The other reason is because I am fed up with the other party who lacks the will and capacity to fight against concerted efforts by the left to destroy this country. It is interesting to see how complacent establishment Republicans are about that issue. The claim that without a governing majority they are powerless against Obama (and his camp followers in the press), but they are playing a good game of defense. My ass. And then the say to say that fighting Obama in the manner conservatives suggest is like charging into the bayonettes of the other side. They claim that Obama has sucked all the oxygen out of the room in Washington, and for that reason, Democrats are retiring because its all his politics and they don’t do policy in Washington anymore. And finally, it is somehow wrong for conservatives to say they would rather take out the RINOs lose the Senate and live to fight another day.

Jesus Mary and Joseph where to start. I am not going to rebut every one of those make weight arguments. To me they are symptomatic of the concerns now felt by the Republican branch of the uniparty which agrees in principle with the left wing totalitarians, but hope to persuade the American People that they are on their side. The truth is there is a compelling argument to be made against Obama, but the only people making that argument are Cruz, Lee, Sessions and a handful of others. The rest of them–Republicans in Name Only, are perfectly content to play the game and reap the financial gains to be derived by not making waves, going back to district and giving their constitutents some warmed over version of the Brooklyn Dodgers fight song–forget about the fact that we are 10 and 50–there’s always next year.

  15. President Nicolas Maduro said Saturday that remarks by US Secretary of State John Kerry on the unrest in Venezuela gave violent groups a “green light” to carry out attacks.

In a tweet, Maduro also slammed the remarks made by Kerry late Friday as “arrogant” and “insolent.”

“John Kerry threatens Venezuela with more violence, with his statements gives the green light to violent groups to attack our people,” Maduro wrote.

The top US diplomat on Friday condemned Venezuela’s “unacceptable” use of force against anti-government protesters, and declined to respond to a call from Caracas for bilateral talks.

“The government’s use of force and judicial intimidation against citizens and political figures, who are exercising a legitimate right to protest, is unacceptable and will only increase the likelihood of violence,” Kerry said.

  16. If I am right, then Obamacare will be the catalyst that causes the middle class ignoranti that the far left intends to destroy them. But that still leaves the uber wealthy who have formed an unholy alliance with the hard left in their pursuit of crony capitalism. How do we bring them to their senses. One way to do that, perhaps the only way, would be to support a proposal to look at every community in California, and if it is determined that that community is above the mean average income, then to impose a tax on that community to pay for low cost housing for illegal immigrants–to break up the barrios. The other half of the proposal would be that if a particular community lacks the racial diversity of the state, then to bus illegal immigrants into places like Beverly Hills and East Palo Alto. This would be nothing more than affirmative action applied to a new protected class, but instead of it being directed at employers and the middle class, it would bite the uber wealthy in their pocket book, and despoil their unimpeded view of the Pacific Ocean. On the other hand, it would enrich their social life and would discover how much fun it is to lock their doors at night. Hell, they might even acquire a much needed appreciation for the Second Amendment. Kaiser Wilhelm–go west young commie.

Unfortunately, all they can do at Old Crimson is hand out diplomas–brains may be presumed, but are not included. He lit a match not realizing that it was a fuse. An honest mistake? Nawww. I cannot recall a single instance where Hillary’s words had that effect. I guess this is New Age Diplomacy–or more hope and change.

  18. The Ukraine coup — and beyond

President Yanukovych has fled Kiev and the right-wing media — which, in this case, means pretty much all of the media — is in a joyous mood. The National Review is using the occasion to drag out the old canard that fascism and socialism are one and the same.

So what’s really going on? I’m not entirely sure myself, but I don’t like the smell perfuming the air. I don’t often link to Zero Hedge, but this map does indeed seem to explain much…

  19. Since Kaiser Wilhelm is the subject of this blog, permit me to make one further comment on the impact of his election, which is becoming more obvious with every passing day. There is no middle class left in Manhattan, and they are disappearing in the other four Burroughs as well. What we are seeing is the emergence of a have and have not city–not unlike other cities on the east coast. Hence, there is a teaching moment here for the elites. They think they can make whoopie with these lefties and the lefties will leave them alone. But when there is no middle class left for the lefties to fleece, then for the elites it is like Bogie to Bacall, meaning what? Meaning here’s looking at you kid. Assume for the sake of argument that the elites get over this illusion about social justice when they feel the hand of the statist pick pocket reaching for their wallet. Does it translate to other communities, where there is still a middle class? Does it ever occur to them that they need to preserve the middle class as a buffer for selfish reasons of their own? And does self interest trump making a fashion statement on the political front. Perhaps now is the time for them to lay down their flattering unction as Shakespeare said.

  20. When Bismark was asked about German aspirations in Africa, he put his hands on a map and said Russia is here, France is here, and Germany is in between. My center of gravity is here. Likewise, as I watch the world ablaze, I realize how much of this stems from the flacid, confused and disingenous foreign policy of the Messiah, a policy which starts with the smell of the lamp, and ends with the smell of gunpowder. My center of gravity is that small patch of real estate between Capitol Hill and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The problem is there and so is the solution. Until that problem is solved, there will be more chaos across the world and more innocent deaths. Am I saying Obama intended those deaths. No. Am I saying he is responsible for them based on the cloud cuckoo land policies he has pursued, and his cowardice in battle. Absolutely. The case for that is not only clear, but was clearly predicted four years ago.

  21. Classic Obama: Whitney Houston vs. Shirley Temple Black! (Poster) –

One was a black singer dying of an overdose of drugs who received the honor of flags being ordered to fly at half staff by no less than President Obama!

Other than a mellifluous voice and being a Democrat, however, I am not sure about any other major accomplishments or contributions made for the good of the country by Whitney Houston.

The other, Shirley Temple Black was white, a child star, a US Ambassador and a Republican whose death was virtually ignored by the President.

Coincidence or par for the Obama political golf course?

Couldn’t agree with you more, wbb. Starting from the moronic philosophy of ‘Leading from Behind,’ the ignoring of and dismissal of the problems of longtime allies, the outflanking done by Putin, the absolute ambivalence towards Africa, and finally the political motivating force behind elevating the nonsense in the Middle East (Iran, Syria, Turkey) in favor of safety, security and PEACE (to the degree that that area of the world could actually BE peaceful – Israel, Saudi Arabia, Egypt), this administration has been an abject failure.

    Hillary 2016

  23. Certainly Shirley Temple Black represents exceptionalism, from her child stardom to a successful marriage to an exemplary career of service. Such a person would surly make resounding echoes in Obama’s hollow sole and would be a reality he would do all in his power to deny and avoid.

  24. Mignon Clyburn, the daughter of Fairness Doctrine proponent Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC), has been leading the charge on behalf of the FCC.
Although I am at sea on the whole question of right to life vs choice, I do begin to understand the abortionists position when I see that Clyburn has a daughter. If the test of anyone’s life is whether they left it a better place than they found it, then the case for the Clyburn clan to go forth and multiply is for me at least dead on arrival. I will spare you the supporting evidence and the invectives, and simply say that I support Bill Clinton’s position on the subject of Jim Clyburn, fully and unequivocally. A generation of vipers.

  25. Jbstonesfan: if you pay attention to nothing else I have said, I beg you to consider what I said about getting a personal trainer, and follow his or her regimen. The practice of law is never easy, but it is harder now than it has ever been. You are both a litigator and the owner of your firm. Litigation is a young person’s sport. It is harder every year, physically. Not to mention the added burdens we encounter from clients. And that is why stretching and strength training and cardio vascular exercise are sine qua non. I got into it before, but never stayed with it. Now I got into it through golf, when a golf pro and friend told me you have the right equipment, and the right swing, even though you can no longer hit the ball much beyond your shadow. The key for you, he said, is the third leg in the stool physical conditioner. My god was he right. But the added benefit–the real benefit is I sleep better, I feel better, and I feel like 20 again. My brother was a top collegiate golfer, and has stayed with it. But even he is losing alot of distance, and complains about it constantly. But he is not willing to work on the physical side–he thinks he can find excalibur, meaning the right equipment or what Hogan called the secret, the magic bullet and he is in a constant search to find yet another teacher who will unlock that mystery. The answer lies elsewhere, but he will not avail himself of the physical side of it. I hope you are or will unlock that door yourself because the dividends are enormous.

Shirley Temple Black was a child star who charmed us and entertained us during the dark days of the depression. As an adult she was a woman of substance and a public leader with values.

Obama was a drug user and a closet racist. Thus, it is hardly surprising that he would overlook Shirley Temple in favor of Whitney Houston who died tragically because of drugs.

In other ways, he is a child. But he is not Shirley Temple, he is Peter Pan and that is a term of art in psychiatry which defines how his mind works.

The leading expert in the field of narcissism explained Obama’s irresponsible behavior using that term. It began with his rejection by both parents, the creation of an grand personality as a coping mechanism, the attraction of co-dependents to that grand personality, which radiates charm insincerity and lies, and beneath it all, the angry ossified child waiting to seek his revenge. No it is not a pretty picture. But is it descriptive of what he is and predictive of what he will do during the remainder of his presidency. Big media no longer swoons over him as they once did. The serial lies he committed in the context of Obamacare, capture though video has taken much of the wind out of their sails on that issue. And I truly believe that is why they are devoting so much time and energy to an election which is more than two years away, wherein no one as of yet has thrown their hat in the ring. I also suspect that they wish his presidency were over, because it is a continuing indictment of their disastrous judgment. If you look back on the judgment of big media and their ability to read the future, they score lower than weathermen, who are notoriously wrong, but in their case, it is simply error, whereas with big media it is corruption, plain and simple. And there is just no getting around it.

  27. Coincidence or par for the Obama political golf course?
There are two ways to make par on a given hole. One put the ball in the hole with the same number of strokes as shown on the score card. The other is to lose track of the math and simply announce you had a par. I am telling you for a fact, Obama and Boehner play by the second strategy, i.e. they simply stop counting. Sort of like the debt. Yes, there is a reason why the Scottish bards called golf the game of life. Like power, it tests one’s character.

  28. I don’t know if this has been posted here, but we have crossed the Rubicon…ACE

Welcome to the United States of Welfare

    Overnight Open Thread (2-20-2014)

Because there are reports that some people around here have been unduly happy…

Welcome to the United States of Welfare

At some point in the last year or two we quietly passed a milestone in America: As a nation we are now more benefit-takers than full-time workers.

Of course there’s probably some overlap between these groups but the bottom line is that getting by with government money is more the rule now in the US than the exception.

So if you work full-time and aren’t getting some form of government payout based on your income, you’re a sucker part of an elite group these days. You should feel proud to declare that you are a Producer. A majority of America thanks you.

Americans who were recipients of means-tested government benefits in 2011 outnumbered year-round full-time workers, according to data released this month by the Census Bureau. They also out-numbered the total population of the Philippines.
There were 108,592,000 people in the United States in the fourth quarter of 2011 who were recipients of one or more means-tested government benefit programs, the Census Bureau said in data released this week. Meanwhile, according to the Census Bureau, there were 101,716,000 people who worked full-time year round in 2011. That included both private-sector and government workers.

That means there were about 1.07 people getting some form of means-tested government benefit for every 1 person working full-time year round.
Note that these means-based benefits do not include Social Security and most government pensions. Those fall into an entirely separate Big Effin’ Problem category.

Among the 108,592,000 people who fit the Census Bureau’s description of a means-tested benefit recipient in the fourth quarter of 2011 were 82,457,000 people in households receiving Medicaid, 49,073,000 beneficiaries of food stamps, 20,223,000 on Supplemental Security Income, 23,228,000 in the Women, Infants and Children program, 13,433,000 in public or subsidized rental housing, and 5,854,000 in the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program. Also among the 108,592,000 means-tested benefit recipients counted by the Census Bureau were people getting free or reduced-price lunch or breakfast, state-administered supplemental security income and means-tested veterans pensions*.
*I’m not quite what this is but it seems distinct from the usual years-of-service-based military pensions.

Video of Austin police arresting jaywalker goes viral

by ASHLEY GOUDEAU / KVUE News and Photojournalist MICHAEL MOORE

Posted on February 21, 2014 at 7:21 PM
    Updated yesterday at 5:48 PM
AUSTIN, Texas — A video posted Thursday by a UT student showing a young woman being arrested is gaining national attention.
The video shows 24-year-old Amanda Jo Stephen in handcuffs, sitting on the sidewalk at 24th and San Antonio streets near the University of Texas campus. Moments later, she’s captured yelling and cursing at Austin police officers as they load her into a police car.
    Christopher Quintero shot the video.
“She was running away, past the cops. [She was] not running from them, but jogging, and they grabbed her arm from behind, and I think it’s perfectly understandable that she was kind of startled and jerked her arm away and was like, ‘Who’s grabbing me?'” said Quintero.
Police Chief Art Acevedo says there is a lot more to the story. The officers were working on an initiative to cut down on pedestrian and bicycle violations. This week, they are focusing on jaywalkers.
On Thursday, officers stopped 28 people and cited seven. On Friday, KVUE cameras caught numerous people ignoring the stop signal and unlawfully crossing the street.
“We do it all the time here,” said UT student Patrice Hailey. “The traffic here is so bad, I mean, we just have to walk when we can.”
Acevedo says Stephen did the same thing while officers had another person stopped for jaywalking.
“He can see her face, and she can see his face, yells, ‘Austin Police, I need you to stop.’ She still doesn’t stop, so he grabs her arm and says, ‘I need you to stop.’ She then at some point takes off her ear buds and he says, ‘Austin Police, I need you to stop,’ and she says to the effect, ‘I don’t give an “f” who you are. Get your “f’ing” hands off of me,” Acevedo said.
According to police, Stephen was arrested for failure to obey a pedestrian control device and failure to identify. Failure to identify is a Class B misdemeanor in Texas.
The police department received inquires from news outlets across the country Friday, the same day a jury convicted Brandon Daniel for shooting and killing Senior Austin Police Officer Jaime Padron.
Acevedo calls the national attention petty.
“I thank God that this is what passes for a controversy in Austin, Texas. And I stand here proud as a police chief, saying that I’m proud that this is the controversy that I’m dealing with today, on the day that we’re actually convicting somebody of capital murder. And I’m glad that I’m here having to address mediocrity,” said Acevedo.

  30. Thanks wbboei. I pay attention to all your posts and admire your eloquence. Litigation is a young man’s sport and truthfully, I am exhausted . The profession has provided me and my family a nice life style but at a tremendous physical toll. I was always in good shape and played high school sports, but since my mid 40’s things became much more taxing physically. I share space with an appellate atty, a real estate atty, and a trust and estate guy, and none of them ever leave their offices. The 8:15 motion calendars , depositions, mediations , and trial prep are as you know extremely taxing. I had considered hiring a young associate, but the quality or lack thereof , precluded that .

  31. What’s the bet that MSNBC hires this guy next?

“CNN President Jeff Zucker has decided to bring an end to Piers Morgan’s low-rated primetime show, network sources told POLITICO on Sunday. “Piers Morgan Live” could end as early as next month, though Morgan may stay with the network in another role.

Morgan, a former British tabloid editor, replaced Larry King in the 9 p.m. hour three years ago, prior to Zucker’s tenure as president. His show earned consistently low ratings, registering as few as 50,000 viewers in the 25-to-54 year-old demographic earlier this week.

“CNN confirms that Piers Morgan Live is ending,” Allison Gollust, head of CNN communications, told POLITICO on Sunday after an earlier version of this post was published. “The date of the final program is still to be determined.”

U.S. Increasing Military Presence In Jordan, Analyst Says

The U.S. intends to build up its military presence in Jordan in an attempt to exert more control over the current situations in Syria and Lebanon, a political analyst tells Press TV.

“The U.S. has continued to build its military capability in Jordan… Under the guise of a humanitarian operation, the United States is putting full combat command inside Jordan,” said Gordon Duff in a Sunday interview with Press TV.

“One of the reasons behind this is not only the issue in Syria, but the increasing meltdown that’s being orchestrated within Lebanon,” he noted.

The analyst argued that the U.S. is considering a military role in the region, as Israel has no capability to operate in Lebanon again.

In early February, Jordanian media reported that a U.S. airplane loaded with weapons and ammunition planned to reach the foreign-backed militants operating in Syria landed in the Mafraq Airport, some 80 kilometers north of the capital, Amman.

It has also been disclosed that a new group of 1,500 gunmen have completed training in a center in Jordan for fighting in Syria and are now ready to join thousands of other rebels in the war-torn country.

  33. On top of everything they have done, this is bound to ensure that the Democrats lose big in 2014.

Pentagon Plans to Shrink Army to Pre-World War II Level

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel plans to shrink the United States Army to its smallest force since before the World War II buildup and eliminate an entire class of Air Force attack jets in a new spending proposal that officials describe as the first Pentagon budget to aggressively push the military off the war footing adopted after the terror attacks of 2001.

The proposal, described by several Pentagon officials on the condition of anonymity in advance of its release on Monday, takes into account the fiscal reality of government austerity and the political reality of a president who pledged to end two costly and exhausting land wars. A result, the officials argue, will be a military capable of defeating any adversary, but too small for protracted foreign occupations.

The officials acknowledge that budget cuts will impose greater risk on the armed forces if they are again ordered to carry out two large-scale military actions at the same time: Success would take longer, they say, and there would be a larger number of casualties. Officials also say that a smaller military could invite adventurism by adversaries.

    Read on…….

In a day when Dictators are running wild and basically doing what they like, they want to do this. Talk about making a statement to those who would harm.

  34. Pentagon Plans to Shrink Army to Pre-World War II Level.

While they increase military presence in Jordan?

That makes no sense at all.

    Does anything these days? (Sigh)

  35. This is what the GOP is scared of.

Hillary could take Louisiana, Texas and Georgia in 2016..Running very competitive, better than any other Dem since Bill in 92.

Hillary Clinton would be the strongest Democratic presidential candidate in the state since her husband Bill was on the ballot in the 1990s.

According to PPP, “All the Republican contenders for President lead Hillary Clinton in hypothetical contests, but the margins are closer than they’ve been in the state since her husband was on the ticket. Christie leads her by just a point at 44/43, Jindal’s up 2 at 47/45, Paul leads by 4 points at 47/43, Huckabee has a 5 point advantage at 49/44, and the strongest Republican with a 7 point edge at 50/43 is Jeb Bush.”

Hillary Clinton’s numbers represent the best showing for a Democratic presidential candidate in the state since her husband Bill Clinton won Louisiana by 5 points in 1992 and 12 points in 1996. George W. Bush won the state by 8 points in 2000, and 15 points in 2004. McCain beat Obama by 19 in 2008, and Mitt Romney defeated the president by a margin of 18 points in 2012.

Former Sec. Clinton would not only be the most competitive Democratic nominee in the state in 20 years, but she would reverse a trend of growing Republican margins of victory. The fact is that Mrs. Clinton has a chance to turn Louisiana blue. Polling in states like Texas and Georgia has revealed that Clinton could also turn those states blue.

If Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic nomination in 2016, her party will have a nominee that is capable of winning in almost every state. She would never win every state, but she would have the capacity to be competitive in each state.

Republicans are on the verge of becoming a regionalized political party. It is very possible that Hillary Clinton could cut into the red region that is the heart and soul of the GOP. Mrs. Clinton is the Republican Party’s worst nightmare, and it’s very possible that she could plunge a blue dagger into the heart of red state America.

  36. I’m a little s low. Pep Boys. lmao. Good one, Admin.

I’m not surprised that Piers Morgan’s show was about as popular as Soledad Ilovemesomeobama Obrien’s. Good riddance to him. Thanks for posting that VH. It brightened my day.

  37. and this is scaring the crap out of them even more….

Hillary Clinton would be a very strong Democrat at the top of the ticket in the red state that Republicans most need to keep. Jeb Bush, who will never run, does the best against Clinton, 49%-42%. Things get much closer after Bush. Chris Christie leads 44%-39%. Rand Paul leads 48%-44%. Ted Cruz leads Clinton within the poll’s margin of error 48%-45%, and Hillary leads Rick Perry in his home state 47%-45%.

Hillary Clinton could turn Texas into a battleground in 2016, because this poll reveals that despite all of the Republican claims of having a “deep bench” of 2016 candidates, voters in Texas don’t seem to be wowed by any of them. No Republican candidate in the poll got 50% support against Hillary Clinton. The former Sec. of State is such a well known figure that she can even keep a close race in the biggest red state of them all.

This is why the Dems need Hillary in 2016 and they know it. She can do what Obama never could.

  38. Hillary would whallop GOP in Ohio.

Hillary Clinton buries Gov. Chris Christie and other potential Republican presidential candidates in the crucial swing state of Ohio, according to a new poll on Thursday.

The former secretary of state, who led Christie 42 percent to 41 percent in November, now tops the New Jersey governor 49 percent to 36 percent, according to a Quinnipiac University poll.

  39. Hillary would sweep out O’Malley in a primary challenge in Maryland by a margin of 10 to 1……..

While Maryland Democrats overwhelmingly approve of the job Gov. Martin O’Malley has done in statewide office, they aren’t yet ready to back him as their party’s presidential nominee.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton leads O’Malley by nearly 10 to 1 among likely Maryland Democratic voters in a Baltimore Sun poll for top candidates in the 2016 presidential election.

When asked for a favorite among Clinton, O’Malley, Vice President Joe Biden and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, 59 percent picked Clinton. Biden came in second, with 14 percent, the Sun says, while O’Malley received 6 percent support. Cuomo was last at 4 percent of those polled.

O’Malley, who is in his final term as governor, is preparing for a possible presidential bid, he recently told The Washington Post. The governor has been meeting with foreign- and domestic-policy experts privately to prepare, and told the newspaper that he would make a good president “for these times especially.”

Sources told the newspaper that O’Malley wants to run for the White House in 2016, but probably won’t if Clinton runs. He was the second governor in the country to support Clinton’s 2008 run for the presidential nomination.

  40. A strong woman:

Alice Herz-Sommer: pianist and oldest known Holocaust survivor dies aged 110
Concert pianist said that optimism and discipline helped her survive two years in concentration camp

Tributes have been paid to Alice Herz-Sommer, a renowned concert pianist who was believed to have been the world’s oldest Holocaust survivor, after she died in London at the age of 110.

She was born into a German-speaking Jewish family in Prague at a time when it was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire, and endured the city’s ghetto following the Nazi invasion of Czechoslovakia. She then spent two years in Theresienstadt (Terezín) concentration camp, where nearly 35,000 prisoners perished.

In an extraordinary life, which was the subject of film nominated for the best short documentary at next Sunday night’s Academy Awards, she counted Franz Kafka as a family friend when she was young and carried a devotion to music that sustained her in the camp.

  41. The one thing i say to people who say Hillary is too old to run is

“Women are good at outlasting and outliving men by many years, get used to her being around for quite a long time”

  42. It has also been disclosed that a new group of 1,500 gunmen have completed training in a center in Jordan for fighting in Syria and are now ready to join thousands of other rebels in the war-torn country.

In January, U.S. security officials disclosed news on the secret endorsement of a bill by Congress to fund weapons shipments to the opposition in Syria through Jordan.

The weapons, including a variety of small arms, as well as some more powerful weapons, such as anti-tank rockets, is flowing to what the U.S. calls the “moderate” militants fighting in the south of the country.

  43. George Soros Triples Amount of Money Spent Lobbying Congress For Liberal Causes, Spent $11 Million In 2013…

If only his last name was Koch, then maybe more MSM organizations would be covering this.

The latest list of big lobbying spenders contains a surprising name: George Soros.

Well, not the billionaire himself, but the Open Society Policy Center, the Washington-based advocacy affiliate of his Open Society Foundations.

Soros and his generous support of liberal causes, through his philanthropy and his personal political spending, have long been the subject of conservative ire. But, until now, he hasn’t done much on the formal lobbying front, and the group’s huge increase in reported spending it hit $11 million in 2013, more than triple the $3.25 million it spent the previous year has drawn remarkably little notice.

The big jump placed the Soros group 27th in a recent year-end lobbying tally by the Center for Responsive Politics just below defense giant General Dynamics and ahead of corporate powerhouses Dow Chemical, Chevron and Microsoft.

  44. It is better for Hillary’s presidential prospects if the dems lose the senate in 2014. Why? Several reasons: first, it will leave Obama as an isolated lame duck blamed for the losses. Second, that reality will bring out the ossified angry child who will look for ways to subvert the system–and engage in more deception and lies. Third, it will force him to proceed entirely by executive order and by continue his usurpation of the powers of Congress, thereby forcing the hand of cowardly Republicans who are counseled by the genius consultants who specialize in losing election to just be nice. Fourth, it will stop him from appointing more radical left wing America hating racists to the federal bench–like Holder. Fifth, it will rally the base for 2016. The challenge for Hillary will be to maintain a pragmatic constitutionalist fair to everyone presidency, when the left attempts to extract from her a blood oath to bury white people. If you think that is an overstatement, think again. Our politics has been racialized to a degree never seen before, and scapegoating whites is the mantra of the democratic party. It is an ugly fact, but a plain one. All ya gotta do is look and read between the lines–its there. Even with accolytes like Chris Van Hollen.

  45. When I hear pundits say 2014 will be a wave election like 2010 was, I say define the word wave. If you mean that Obama will not be on the ticket, therefore minorities will not turn out for him as they did in 08 and 12, then you are probably right. However, unlike 2010, it will not result in a change of control. The democrats will retain control by the narrowest of margins–maybe a tie, with Biden as the tie breaker.

Because Obama is increasingly difficult to defend, much less worship, the favorite indoor sport in Washington, now that the Mayflower Madam has closed her business, it debates, fierce fucking meaningless debates about the outcome of 2016. You know it is all delusional when the most delusional man in Congress, POW McNutt takes a respite from video poker and gives us his dubious wisdom on the subject. Similar predictions about 2014 are also misleading, but that does not stop me and other suckers from opining on the subject, rather than obsessing over the Manchurian Candidate in the White House. In any event, here is Michael Barone’s take on the subject, before the pollsters dig in and the real lying begins:

In the Senate, Republicans need a net gain of six seats for a majority. They have obvious targets: seven Democratic-held seats in states carried by Romney.

South Dakota and West Virginia, where incumbents are retiring, look like easy pickups. Montana, where a little-known lieutenant governor has been appointed to fill a vacancy, may be another.

Democratic incumbents are running behind or (always trouble for an incumbent) below 50 percent in four Romney states — Alaska, Arkansas, Louisiana and North Carolina.

The field seems to have widened to target states Obama carried in the 2012 presidential election. Gallup shows his approval down even more than the national average in each of them.

They include Colorado, Iowa, New Hampshire and even Michigan, which was a target state only briefly if at all.

Perhaps even Minnesota, the one state Ronald Reagan never carried, but which voted only 54 percent for Obama, or Oregon and Virginia, where incumbents seem strong but may have serious challengers.

Republicans surely won’t win all or perhaps even most of these races. But they seem likely to make serious gains, with the only possible offsetting losses in Romney states Georgia and Kentucky.

I have said that prediction today is relatively easy, up to a point — actually, two points.

  46. You never know Wbboei, GOP may just pull it out in the senate…House will not change hands at all but in the Senate, Dems could make serious missteps and Obama/Dem fatigue has really set in and really losing the senate in 2014 would be the best thing ever for Hillary in 2014 as 2016 is a stronger Dem cycle in the Senate races and we all know how the GOP could screw it up within 2 years.

  47. jeswezey

Yup. Appropos of what I said above. That will be the challenge–to be your own woman, while everyone about you is demanding that you be what they want you to be. The progressive agenda is the political equivalent of the AIDs virus. It kills the host. The danger is that too many people conflate it with the liberal tradition, which is positive and has brought much of what we value from the state. Progressivism is the diametric opposite. It is totalitarianism dressed up to deceive the people. The Republicans have no answer. In good economic times, it is easy to preach the virtues of capitalism, but in bad times, like these, millions want a sugar daddy, and for that they are willing to make a devil’s pact, and surrender their freedom– which is the one thing that makes life tolerable.

    February 24, 2014 at 2:06 pm
If you are right, then that will help Hillary, for the reasons above. Furthermore it will give her some breathing room to separate herself from Obama. Do you concur?

  49. Erdogan, the Mullahs, Obama–what is it about these tyrants. Is it that power corrupts, or that power attracts corrupt people or all of the above?

  50. Firstly losing in 2014 makes Obama look like a prick for not only losing the house during his time but losing the Senate also.

GOP will then run serious idiocy for the next 18 months.

2016 is a stronger cycle for the Dems in Senate races with more GOP races then Dems.

Hillary could conceivably play off the losses, reposition, attack GOP and end up possibly carrying the house, senate and WH in 2016. She then would not squander it like that asshole did in 2008.

  51. When Bush was president, the left (and I) went right for the jugglar. No mincing words. But when the RINO goes after Obama they preface their comments with throw away statements like he is brilliant, he is a good family man, he believes in social justice. What kind of horseshit is that. All it does is invalidate their main point. You see that same temporizing crap of of Bill O. Conservatives are right to condemn O’Reilly for it. When a Manchurian Candidate is ruining your nation, now is not the time to paint in pale pastels. Bold repudiation should begin in the first sentence and end in the last one. If people cannot handle the truth that is their problem. This is not a case of first impression. As I have mentioned before this kind of windup and diversion occurred at the Nuremberg trials where Associate Justice Jackson who was in line for Chief Justice when Fred Vincent retired, made the mistake of temporizing with one of the Reichsmarshall Goering rather than bludgeoning him with all the stuff he had at his fingertips. The result was predictable. Goering won. Other cross examiners adopted a more hammer and tongs approach and were more successful. If these RINO are so embarrassed to be Republicans, then they should make a public apology, get it out of their system, and get down to business. But the only business they are really interested in is milking the system for personal gain, hence to make waves is not in their interest.

It is better for Hillary’s presidential prospects if the dems lose the senate in 2014.

I was thinking about this same reality for a different reason. First, you highlighted the effects of a party change in Congress would affect bumbles, all of which are not only probably correct, but also much anticipated. I am hoping the base turns on him this year. The chicken is in the oven as we speak (support in the black community is dropping faster than you might think). He is cooked.

I looked at it from a different angle. Hillary has demonstrated her ability to work with people no matter their race, gender, political ideology, age, etc, at least as well as (and maybe a bit better than) my hero President Bill. With her grassroots support across party lines (demonstrated by her poll numbers), she would enjoy popular support for her initiatives. Furthermore, the last two times the executive’s party had Congress in tow (granted, the executives were more than a bit suspect), we as a people did not enjoy good leadership. The years that President Clinton was in office that Congress was red territory (granted, the executive was awesome), the country stayed moderate, as was envisioned by the founders. Democrats losing Congress would be a very nice step in the right direction for this country (followed of course by Hillary becoming the CEO in 2016).

    Hillary 2016

  53. Thing about it. There is a real asymmetry between the progressives and the republican establishment. The progressive applies the tactics of the Alinsky manifesto which is to overwhelm your opponent with baseless allegations and keep him on the defensive, while the establishment Republicans adhere to the Victorian notion of the British Foreign Office in World War II, that even if you were fortunate enough to intercept an enemy cable it must not be read, because gentlemen do not read other people’s mail. If they were to do to the left what the left does to them, then they would bury them under six feet of dirt, over this Obamacare fiasco. But that is not what gentlemen do. It is also why the stately homes of England have been auctioned off, because these gentlemen could not adopt to changed circumstances.

Allapundit is a glass is half empty guy. He was right that the Supreme Court would fall though its ass on Obamacare, so I give him credit for that. He is also right here, and I do not think it contradicts my premise. What I am seeing more than anything else is the implosion of the Republican party, because the base does not trust the RINO to represent their interests. His observation about Collins, Kirk et al is spot on. They are big Obama supporters and will not lift a finger to stop him. He is also right about the filibuster and I am glad he delved into that subject because the analysis would be incomplete without that. In my opinion this has everything to with the loss of economic growth which was the foreseeable result of globalization outsourcing and the dire state of our economy. I spoke to several people at Merrill Lynch last week and they are moderately bullish about the next 12 months, but the one thing they do concede is that we have a depression in jobs. In economics that is a detail, whereas in politics it is sine qua non. Fewer working Americans means fewer taxpayers which means either we must cut government, inflate the currency and tax the hell out of the people who are working. More than demographics, that explains why the Republican Party is on the ropes.

Which is why even conservatives disgusted with the party leadership, especially on amnesty, will be sorely tempted to turn out this year.

  55. Some more 2016 speculation fun via anti-amnesty Kaus:

If Rubio’s the GOP funder’s favorite, amnesty’s dead, no? Mike Allen’s Playbook flags John King’s report on Jeb Bush reaching out to “key funders” to let them know he’s maybe still in the GOP mix for 2016. Which reminded me of a crazy conspiratorial theory I had about Marco Rubio and immigration “reform:”

Le’t assume – because it’s true — that the “key funders” of the GOP all favor some form of legalization or amnesty for the undocumented (plus an increase in the number of legal immigrants). Indeed, they’re the main force pushing it on the Republican side. Nevertheless, Rubio badly damaged himself with actual GOP voters by naively duplicitously championing the funder-backed Senate “Gang of 8″ amnesty bill. So sorry for poor Marco! Such a promising young man. But Rubio’s fate didn’t really matter to GOP donors and machers as long as they had another presidential horse to back, which they did in the form of New Jersey governor Chris Christie. (Christie also supported the Gang of 8′s amnesty but more discreetly, with less blatant flip-flopping.)

Now that Christie’s damaged, though, the fatcats don’t have a horse. So eyes turn back to Rubio, and his possible rehabilitation. The last thing Rubio 2.0 needs–the thing that will stop his desperate repair efforts cold–is for immigration to become a salient issue again for Republicans. But that’s exactly what will happen if Speaker Boehner makes a big move this year for a legalization bill in the House.** Upshot: As long as Rubio is the fatcat’s default choice, maybe they won’t make such a push to get an immigration bill during Obama’s term. Christie down, amnesty down.

Unless, that is …. unless some alternative funder-friendly horse should emerge, like, say … Jeb Bush. …

P.S.: I’m enough of a paranoid on this issue to think Jeb may even be pretending to be thinking about entering the race in order to prevent the funders from pulling the plug on amnesty, of which he is a longtime supporter.

(It’s all about immigration, I’ve come to believe. I used to think it was all about sex.)

P.P.S.: The seemingly obvious solution, from an amnesty-skeptical point of view, would be for Rubio to make his presidential move now. The MSM “Rubio Comeback” stories will practically write themselves–I suspect some DC pundits already have them on their thumb drives. If the establishment embraces Rubio–even if only as a Jeb backup– would they dare torpedo him in the primaries by pushing immigration and reminding voters of the Gang of 8?

    Rubio for President!

Kaus probably should lay off the coffee.

  56. Our foreign policy was in the toilet under Bush, but now that we have Obama, we are loved and respected. This is one of the singular accomplishments of his presidency.–anon. White House spokesman.

    Then riddle me this:

Grandmaster Putin plays chess while Obama’s stuck on checkers
    By Michael Goodwin /
Published February 24, 2014 / New York Post

Around the world, there’s no good news. As it continues its savage bombardment of civilians, Syria shows no signs of keeping its promise to destroy its chemical weapons.

As Ukraine neared a civil war, its military leader refused for more than a week to return phone calls from U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.

Iran insists negotiations over its nuclear program will not involve its ballistic missiles. One official took a dig at President Obama, saying the missiles are a “red line.”

The bad guys have figured out that “leading from behind” isn’t leading at all.
Welcome to global disorder. You know America’s power is waning when the mullahs mock our empty threats.

The bad guys have figured out that “leading from behind” isn’t leading at all. Russia’s Vladimir Putin is acting like a grandmaster of chess while Obama stumbles at checkers.

But Obama’s fecklessness offers one advantage — it’s easier to see why he keeps bullying Israel.

The tiny Jewish state gets singled out because nobody else listens to America anymore. Once the Israelis figure that out, we’ll really be alone.

  57. The don’t respect Obama, they think he’s a total walkover wimp, they at least respected Bush for having balls and staying power.

  58. Obama’s foreign policy is akin to an ostrich. Stick your head in the ground, wait, if a problem that calls for action turns out good, claim credit, and if it turns out badly then blame others. And wait for big media to come in, and perform their usual fellatio. Yes, its a wonderful life.

The don’t respect Obama, they think he’s a total walkover wimp, they at least respected Bush for having balls and staying power.
True. And it gets back to a very fundamental point, which neither Bambi or the Sainted WashPo associate editor, and Harvard luminary David Ignatius understands:

“It is better to be feared than loved, if you cannot be both”–Machiavelli.

Our enemies do not fear Obama. They mock him and they laugh at him. Can anyone blame them? Our allies are the ones who fear him, because he is disloyal, incompetent, and interested only in himself. And that is a fact.

Back in January Ted Nugent head an interview where he called Barack Obama a communist sub-human mongrel:

“Communist- raised, communist-educated, communist-nurtured, subhuman mongrel… Obama should be jailed for treason.”

The media was irate with his selection of words, especially after Ted Nugent went out and campaigned with GOP gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott.

But back in 2010, on The View, Barack Obama called the African-AMericans a “sort of mongrel people” and the media mostly ignored the statement.

  61. Obama does NOT represent the United States. He represents only himself and his perverse agenda. He uses the United States as a vehicle to advance his own ego, and perverse agenda. Never in my lifetime, or in my reading of history have I found a president who so debased his office, and exploited it to his own personal advantage, and it has passed without a peep from mainstream media, the watchdog who fails to bark.

  62. Admin: I have come full circle. I agree with Mickey Kaus. He is their best shot, at rebranding their party, and advancing their agenda. He will appeal to young people, because of age. He will attract minorities because he is Hispanic. He is more presentable than the mortally obese thug Chris Christy. He is very articulate. He knows his way around the money men. He is supported by the Bush clan. He has a compelling life story. He is a living example of the American myth of rags to riches. And unlike Obama he is not a congenital liar. I think when conservatives take a look at the alternatives they may well forgive him for his dalliances on amnesty. In sum, he may well rise like a Phoenix from the ashes. Time will tell. I suspect Hillary’s team has opened a file on him, and are not ruling out this possibility.

  63. Top House Dem Steny Hoyer Tells Vulnerable Democrats “You’re Not Going To Hide” From Obamacare…

Probably not what they want to hear, Steny.

    Via Washington Examiner:

House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., reminded vulnerable Democrats that they can’t “hide” from the Affordable Care Act in the 2014 elections, after a fundraising trip on behalf of one colleague whose allies portrayed her as an Obamacare whistleblower in a recent campaign ad.

“The Affordable Care Act is ours,” Hoyer told the Arizona Republic. “You’re not going to hide. You’re not going to duck. It is ours. We promoted it. We believe in it. Sell it. It is good for the country. It is good for Arizona.”

He had a chance to give that advice to Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., in person, if she cared to hear it. “Hoyer was in the state last week for a fundraiser” for Kirkpatrick and Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz. “He told the Republic that Obama’s 2010 health-care reform law, despite its rocky rollout, will be a boon for them and other House Democrats who might face vigorous re-election challenges this year.”

  64. “The Affordable Care Act is ours,” Hoyer told the Arizona Republic. “You’re not going to hide. You’re not going to duck. It is ours. We promoted it. We believe in it. Sell it. It is good for the country. It is good for Arizona.”
You stupid motherfucking butler. How do you define good. How do you define the country? How do you measure what is good? By how many people lose their coverage? By how many people lose their doctor? By how many people are forced to buy coverage they don’t need? By how much their premiums have gone up? By how much their deductibles have gone up? Stennie boy it aint just politics any more. You are a lying motherfucker. Two hundred years ago, Stennie would have said the same thing about slavery. Fifty years ago he would have said the same things about tobacco not causing cancer. Its good for the country, but not for the American People. Is that what you mean Stennie. You liar. Sorry, I can’t help myself.

  65. Maybe I should have spared the invective and noted that he is urging his colleagues to cling to Obamacare like a drowning man clings to a razor blade. But subtlety is lost on an apathetic public, just as civility is lost on a bot. Coarse language is the only antedote to political correctness, which is soft tyranny.

  66. The problem with Stennie is he is a mile wide and six inches deep. There is a way to say this, but I will be damned if I will whisper it in their ear. Life is tough Stennie, but it is even tougher when you are stupid.

  67. And he is number 2 in the House, right behind Nanny Poopie.

    Now I begin to understand.

    Stupid is a relative term.

Every Valley Girl needs A Valley boy.

And if ignorance is bliss, tis folly to be wise.

  68. I like Mike Dukakis. He has a sense of etiquette. When he lost his bid for the presidency, he slipped back into private life, and we have heard more about Olympia than Mike. Not so McNutt. Not so Romney. They lost too. But they refuse to get off the stage. They have nothing of substance to contribute. But they love the limelight. The problem is they are always getting in the way. One of the many problems facing the Republican Party is they need generational change, but these relics of defeat just want to hang around. Like ham actors, they always want one more curtain call, then another and then another.

  69. I despise Schumer. The sight and sound of him turns my stomach. And after he did what he did to Hillary, we can add backshooter to his resume. But in all seriousness, is he really that much worse than McCain?

  71. Here you have a man and here you have a problem. No man. No problem.

Such was the wisdom of Comrade Stalin.

But it could just as easily have been Comrade Obama.

Case in point–the targeting of a major Obama critic over a petty violation of the election laws.

A failure to report a de minimus contribution to a candidate who lost an election.

And for that another Obama contributor US attorney is going after this critic with a meat axe.

Seven years in jail and a million dollar fine.

When Obama himself solicited millions in illegal foreign contributions by omitting the security code requirement on his website.

In other words, as with all the other federal agencies, Obama is weaponizing the US attorneys office.

Upon hearing of this, my first assumption was that the US attorney is the dirtbag.

But friends and now Judge Neopolitiano tell me he is an honest intellectual sort.

And the Judge suggests that the order to target this critic came from the White House.

    Which is probably the truth.

In that case, the US Attorney would do well to consider the lesson of Nurenmberg.

You cannot commit an evil act–abusing your discretion and then say I was just following orders.

  72. My God Hillary is going need one hell of a sweeping brush when she takes charge, that is one large piece of shit that will need sweeping off the porch.

  73. Victor Davis Hanson is a name I have become familiar with in the past year or so. He is a family farmer and a professor of classical literature at California State University. He wrote one book called The Land Was Everything, which depicts the fight of the family farmer against government subsidized agri business, the latter which pollutes our environment and poisons our food with hormones and chemical agents, and now lately genetic engineering courtesy of Monsanto. Politically, the family farm was a bedrock of democratic values and a staunch skeptic about government programs to redistribute wealth and perfect human nature.

Apropos of that he has written a second book on the subject of politics, actually he has written over twenty on that subject and is a blogger at pjmedia. In one of his recent books he takes Obama to task on the foreign policy front. This concern is made timely now as a result of Obama’s benighted decision to reduce our military levels to what they were before World War II, which gave our enemies a tremendous advantage, and after Pearl Harbor, we were in deep kaka. But those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it, and Cheney may be wrong about other things, but he is right that this is a dangerous development for our security and for world stability which is suffering now. That concern is further heightened by the botched job he did with Syria, where he handed control over to Putin.

On the general subject however, Hanson makes these excellent points about the big media beloved messiah, as summarized by a reviewer of said book:

“In this revealing broadside, Victor Davis Hanson explains how President Obama has imprinted his domestic ideology of victimhood onto a therapeutic, Carter-inspired foreign policy. In Obama’s vision, the United State renounces its role as a defender of the postwar order and instead becomes an agent of global change – one that questions our existing system of defense, values, alliances, interests, and commerce.

In tactical terms, Obama believes that his ‘hope-and-change’ rhetoric and non-traditional background give him a moral authority abroad that will trump any inconsistency in U.S. foreign policy. But, as Hanson explains, at some future date, regional hegemons like Iran, Russia and China will demand even more acquiescence on the theory that the present government of the United States either will not object, or will do nothing concrete to stop them.”

But the sheeple do not care. They just chew their cud, evince blank stares and say its all just politics.

  74. Obama’s New Asylum Decree Favors Muslims Over Christians

As President Obama offers asylum to “minor” terrorists providing “limited” material support to terrorism, he’s slamming shut the door on thousands of Christians fleeing terrorism in Muslim lands like Egypt.

In another end-run around Congress, President Obama has unilaterally eased immigration requirements for foreigners linked to terrorism.

He ordered the State Department and Homeland Security to ignore a post-9/11 law barring entry to those giving political or charitable aid to Hamas and other known terrorist groups.

A dozen years after the horrific attacks on our nation by foreign Islamic terrorists, the Obama administration has decided a little support to foreign Islamic terrorists is OK.

Treasonous as it sounds, the president is following through on a little-noticed overture he made to Muslims in his Cairo speech of 2009, when he suggested he’d relax enforcement of material support laws involving “zakat,” or Islamic charitable giving.

He basically apologized for the Bush administration’s locking up the founders of the largest Muslim charity in America for sending millions to “zakat committees” linked to Hamas.

Of course, his move weakens, yet again, America’s security. By exempting five kinds of limited material support for terrorism, Obama instantly purges more than 4,000 suspects from the U.S. terror watch list and opens our borders up to both them and their families.

Not to worry, Homeland Security says, it’ll run additional security checks before letting them in.

Oh? Like the checks run on the Tsarnaev family, who also got into the country on asylum claims? Those security checks?

Forgive the survivors and the families of those who died in the Boston bombings if they’re not reassured.

  75. It’s On: Putin Deploys Troop Battalion: Russians Raise Flag Over Ukranian Republic of Crimea

A couple of weeks ago President Barack Obama joined Bob Costas in an interview during the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympic games being held in Sochi, Russia. The President, who didn’t attend the ceremony or games with other world leaders, chalked off his absence to his busy schedule.

Though the President claimed in his interview that his relationship with Russian head of state Vladimir Putin was warm, one can’t help but wonder if things between the United States and Russia have soured significantly. A week after claiming he had too much to do and couldn’t support America’s athletes at the games, Obama took a three day golfing junket with buddies.

Then, out of nowhere, just as Vladimir Putin prepared to showcase his $51 billion games to the world, rioting and rebellion broke out in neighboring Ukraine. Some might say that it is pure coincidence, but as Franklin Roosevelt once opined, “”in politics, nothing happens by accident.” Within days of the uprisings investigations began to reveal that U.S. covert operations groups more than likely played a role.

Coincidence? Maybe. But when considering the same modus operandi appeared in uprisings in Iran, Egypt and Syria over the last several years, we can conclude that the United States was heavily involved in the Ukraine as well.

The timing of the Ukranian revolution was just… a little too perfect.

  76. 2/25/14. WashTimes. Former President Bill Clinton touched down in Kentucky for his first political campaign stop of the year — to support Democratic Alison Lundergan Grimes’ quest to oust Sen. Mitch McConnell from office.
Ms. Grimes’ father is Mr. Clinton’s longtime friend, The Associated Press reported. Mr. Clinton is set to keynote a fundraiser for Ms. Grimes in Louisville on Tuesday. Mr. McConnell’s sixth term approached — but it’s been marked by plenty of opposition from Democrats, who see his seat as vulnerable, and from tea party types who think his time on Capitol Hill should come to an end. Mr. McConnell, for his part, is trying to maintain his office with a campaign strategy that links Ms. Grimes to President Obama, whose popularity has nosedived in Kentucky. The Democrats, apparently, have countered with Mr. Clinton: The former president won the state during his White House runs while wife, Hillary, was popular with the people during her failed run for the nation’s highest office in 2008, AP reported.

  77. Networks, AP ignore FCC Attack on Freedom of the Press

“Corruptus in Extremis” – Shine a light on even the most aggressive rats and they will retreat to their hidey-holes for now. The FCC has suspended its outrageously intrusive Critical Information Needs program, which means the bureaurats are pulling back on it until the publicity dies down, at which point they will push forward again.

That publicity was conspicuously lacking from certain key corners. This time the light was shined upon not only the rat, but its enablers.

This is why we need alternative information sources of the type CIN appears intended to eradicate. You cannot rely on the central pillars of the information establishment to report anything that does not advance the hard left agenda.

It isn’t that AP and the New York Times are willing to feed the crocodile in hopes that it will eat them last. The AP and the New York Times are the crocodile. The federal government is effectively an extension of the radically liberal media establishment, which does not exist to inform but to control.

  78. Alert your family and friends. Anyone still undecided about whether to enroll in Ocare will have to face this decision without the much coveted counsel and advise of such wise and learned experts as Bruce Springsteen and Beyonce. “ObamaCare stars fade”

By Jonathan Easley and Elise Viebeck

“The Obama administration is short of star power as it begins its last public relations blitz for ObamaCare.

President Obama’s celebrity supporters are not in the forefront as they were during the star-studded campaign-style videos that hogged the airwaves in 2008.

Contrary to expectations, the White House’s A-list backers have mainly stuck to Twitter to voice support for ObamaCare, while others have appeared in inexpensive online videos, or chosen to promote California’s insurance marketplace instead of HealthCare.gov, the notoriously troubled website for the federal exchanges.

It seems that not even the president’s most fervent and committed supporters want to get too close to ObamaCare. Some of Obama’s most powerful allies — figures including Oprah Winfrey, Bruce Springsteen and Beyoncé — have stayed in the wings for the enrollment push.”

  80. The RINO is between a rock and a hard place. The “contributors” who bribe them to do what they do demand amnesty and the base sees it as treason. Ergo what is a low life RINO to do? Simple. Fuck the base, reward the contributors and let Bambi have the credit. That leaves only one question unanswered. Can the contributors win the election when the base stays home?

  81. Boehner is . . . oh hell what can I say about him that I have not said before. Well, my godfather was the campaign manager for Senator Magnuson who alon with Senator Jackson were the two important senators from the state of Washington through the post war World War II era. How different from the senators we have now, who have none of the gravitas or standing that those two democrats did. What my godfather used to say, and I do not know whether this is original or not–somehow it sound like something Mark Twain could have said, is an honest politician is one who stays bought. By that narrow definition, and only by that narrow definition, John Boehner is a very honest politician. And he confirmed it to me at the end of a golf round when he said the voters in his district let him do anything he wants, which leaves only the contributors to answer to. In other words, the welfare of the American People is not a material consideration for him.

Of course this is without regard to their ability or even fitness to be in that situation. Why would Springsteen be my healthcare guru? Great music, not really knowledgeable of intestinal torsion. Fast forward to his other hiring decisions. As ‘smart’ as he is, either he is a lousy judge of character, supremely corrupt or downright incompetent in terms of staffing decisions.

If you think the Kennedy dynasty seems to have lasted forever, that’s nothing compared to Michigan’s 12th congressional district, where Democratic Congressman John Dingell, Jr., 87, who succeeded his father in 1955 and is the longest serving Congressman in U.S. history, announced on Monday that he is stepping down.
Dingell is tacitly encouraging his wife, Debbie, 60, to replace him. He mentioned her when asked about his successor, saying “But if she runs the lovely Deborah I will vote for her.” The Washington Post now reports that Debbie Dingell will run to take her husband’s seat.

  86. IRS Warns: Obamacare Tax Must Be Paid with Tax Return

Agency employs Orwellian term “Shared Responsibility Payment” to describe Obamacare individual mandate tax.

President Obama’s Internal Revenue Service today quietly released a series of Obamacare “Health Care Tax Tips” warning Americans that they must obtain “qualifying” health insurance – as defined by the federal government – or face a “shared responsibility payment” when filing their tax returns in 2015. The term “shared responsibility payment” refers to the Obamacare individual mandate tax, one of at least seven tax hikes in the healthcare law that directly hit families making less than $250,000 per year.

In “Four Tax Facts about the Health Care Law for Individuals” the agency writes:

Your 2014 tax return will ask if you had insurance coverage or qualified for an exemption. If not, you may owe a shared responsibility payment when you file in 2015.

In “The Individual Shared Responsibility Payment- An Overview” the agency warns Americans they must prove they were covered each and every month of the year:

For any month in 2014 that you or any of your dependents don’t maintain coverage and don’t qualify for an exemption, you will need to make an individual shared responsibility payment with your 2014 tax return filed in 2015.

In “IRS Reminds Individuals of Health Care Choices for 2014”the agency details the calculations Americans can look forward to if they are liable for the tax:

2/26/14. Two members of Congress subpoenaed in nursing homes’ fight with SEIU. Snip But both lawmakers [U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-CT, and Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-CT] are now in the uncomfortable situation of being deposed by lawyers representing the nursing homes and are forced to provide a wide array of documents relating to their interactions with the SEIU.

  88. Joe say’s it ain’t so. He won’t back down from running in 2016, if Hillary seeks the nomination.

Someone needs to tell him, his biggest obstacle to election would probably not be Hillary Clinton. It would be the fact that he was Barack’s ole boy for two terms. He was right there in the WH while the Foolish Prince issued edict after edict, “fundamentally transforming’ this country. During most of this time Ole Joe’s foot was in his mouth, but occasionally Barack would remove it for him, shove him in front of a mic, where Joe would dutifully defend and uphold his master. Run all you want, Joe. You’re going no where.

“Hillary Clinton’s decision won’t sway my 2016 US Presidential plans: Biden”

  89. New rules being pushed by First Lady Michelle Obama would stop companies from advertising junk food inside schools. That would mean, for example, no giant Coke or Pepsi logos on scoreboards or in gyms.

The first lady announced the new measures on the fourth anniversary of her “Let’s Move!” campaign to combat childhood obesity.

“I think we can all agree that our classrooms should be healthy places where our kids are not bombarded with ads for junk food,” Michelle Obama said.

Some celebrities are helping to promote “Let’s Move!” on this anniversary, including funnyman Will Ferrell, who joined the first lady for a “focus group.”

It’s one thing to get the backing from Hollywood, but for many other people in this country, the “Let’s Move!” campaign is a quintessential nanny-state idea. And what about results? After four years, is the first lady’s campaign really working?

Director of nutrition policy at the Center for Science in the Public Interest Margo Wootan, her agency has collaborated with “Let’s Move!” in the past, and senior contributor to The Foundry at The Heritage Foundation Genevieve Wood join CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper” to discuss.

  91. NYT/CBS poll numbers show vast majority of Dems want Hillary to run. I hate to sound paranoid, but since it is NYT and CBS – IF this is an accurate poll, we can look for NYT especially, to ratchet up the Clinton attacks.

Found this article via http://www.blogsforhillary.com, at Puff Ho. Not linking to the Hos.

“An overwhelming majority of Democrats want Hillary Clinton to run in 2016, according to a New York Times/CBS poll released Wednesday.

More than 80 percent of self-described Democrats surveyed were supportive of Clinton running, with a margin of error of plus or minus six percent. 13 percent of Democrats didn’t want her to run, and five percent said they didn’t know enough to decide. 52 percent of Independents also said they wanted her to run.

Opinions were more divided when it came to Vice President Joe Biden, who has said there is a 50-50 chance he will run in 2016. 42 percent of Democrats wanted him to run, and 39 percent did not.”

Foxy, Barack may have made criminals of us, but if I’m going to the Big House, it’s going to be for something more fun than violating his little commands and edicts. lol

  92. They both had heart attacks? Give me a break. It sounds to me like they were both Breitbarted!

BOTH Ex-Navy SEALs Found Dead on the Maersk Alabama Died of Respiratory Failure After Suffering Heart Attacks…Really?

The Ex-Navy SEALs found dead in their cabin aboard the ship made famous in the movie Captain Phillips died of respiratory failure after suffering heart attacks.

Mark Daniel Kennedy(43), and Jeffrey Keith Reynolds (44), were found dead on February 18th as the ship was berthed in Port Victoria, the capital of the Indian Ocean island nation of Seychelles.

Both men were employed by the US-based Trident Group, which was founded in 2000 by former US Navy SEAL commandos and recruits former special forces operatives.

Seychelles police said samples were being sent to nearby Mauritius for analysis to establish if the men had consumed “a substance” that could have caused a heart attack or respiratory failure.

Now, you have to ask yourself, what is the likelihood of two unrelated men dying of the same condition, respiratory failure, that was brought on by the same condition, a heart attack, on the same ship, at the same time?

Even if they had taken drugs…the same drugs possibly, people react in different ways to narcotic overload. Unless they took it at exactly the same time you would have thought that seeing your co-worker and friend keel over would maybe have stopped you continuing…

    Just sayin’…

  93. Obama Threatens US Governors

Threats and intimidation have become the hallmark traits of America’s first dictator – our lawless President. This week, Obama held a meeting with governors from across the country. He was there to play Marxist hardball and to make it clear he did not trust the governors – especially GOP governors.

To say I am disappointed in Governor Mary Fallin of Oklahoma, who also chairs the NGA, is to make a major understatement. Disappointed, but not surprised. Her weak, watered down criticism of Obama left much to be desired. She needs to be replaced in Oklahoma by a steel-spined Constitutional conservative and a move is afoot in the state to do just that. Here’s to it succeeding. I have no patience for a conservative who wants to please the Progressives. Fallin treads very close to being one herself.

The meeting itself was a non-stop slap down by Obama refusing anything the GOP leaders offered. He set a much more aggressive tone, indicating that he had the power and could do whatever the hell he pleased. The chilling veiled threats were the norm for Obama – just ask Rick Perry and Nikki Haley:

  94. “There’s not a stove in the United States that can pass the test right now — this is the death knoll of any wood burning,” Reg Kelly, the founder of Earth Outdoor Furnaces in Mountain Grove, told Missouri lawmakers during a recent hearing.

More than three dozen Missouri lawmakers have co-sponsored a bill that would symbolically fight back against the EPA by declaring that “All Missourians have a right to heat their homes and businesses using wood-burning furnaces, stoves, fireplaces and heaters.”

This past week, a Missouri House committee endorsed a revised measure that proposes to ban state environmental officials from regulating residential wood

  95. Kerry Promises Ukraine $1 Billion Bailout (Detroit, Not So Much)

Having threatened Russia that “any military move would be a grave mistake” and sounding awefully like a “line” to be crossed, US Secretary of State John Kerry told reporters that the US is ready to bail out Ukraine…

Secretary of State John Kerry says the United States is planning to provide Ukraine with $1 billion in loan guarantees and will consider additional direct assistance to the former Soviet republic.

Speaking to reporters at the State Department on Wednesday, Kerry said it was “urgent to move forward” in assisting Ukraine following the ouster of its Russian-backed president. But he said it was also urgent for Ukraine’s interim authorities to enact reforms, curb corruption, and prepare free and fair elections.

The U.S. aid would be part of a planned massive international assistance package that was expected to include European contributions as well as loans from global financial institutions.

  96. Mr. Obama has assumed the powers of a dictator. He is tearing the constitution and bill of rights to shreds. Big media has supporter this move, and so has the political class in Washington, meaning the entire democratic party and all the RINOs and big media. One of the very few non partisan voices to speak out against this descent into tyranny and slavery has been professor Turley. His counterpart Jeffrey Toobin has refused to do likewise, which is hardly surprising since he is a jurnolister. I was so impressed with turleys honesty and courage that I wrote one of the best letters I have ever written honoring him for his contribution to our nation. It was a remarkable thing–a clear example of one man who is willing to put the nation ahead of politics, and to put his own reputation on the line. I have received no answer, and I sure as hell do not need one. I just wanted him to know that in my book and that of others, he has no equal. When we see people like that, in this case, an honest man of the left, you realize that partisan differences are really immaterial. He is now sitting down with his crowd–meaning democrats and trying to explain the need to speak out as he did, and not sit still for the destruction of the legislative branch–as they are now doing. I am proud of him.

  97. More than 80 percent of self-described Democrats surveyed were supportive of Clinton running
    And why praytell is that?

Is it because they believe she is an experienced leader who will save the nation?

I do not think that is why they want her to run.

She offered those same credentials in 2008 and they rejected him for Obama.

Is it because they believe she will continue the destruction of our country that he has initiated?

I think that is their motivation.

I have my own reasons for wanting her to run, but I make the opposite assumption.

My assumption is that in order to save the country she will separate herself from Obama and his fellow travelers.

If I did not believe that, I could not support her.

  98. Michelle Bachaman made a statement she doubts there will be a woman president in the near term, because there is no pent up demand for it–as there was for a black male president. She was then asked about whether the Hillary campaign would adopt the same tactic as the Obama campaign which is to dismiss any objective criticism of the candidate as racism or in her case sexism. O’Reilly is sure that the campaign will mimic that tactic, whereas Bachman was less sure and said it would be a mistake to do so, but finally conceded that it would probably happen. My advice would be to steer clear of that sort of thing. In 2008 Hillary refused to be a race or gender hustler, which is what Obama did and is. She said I am not running because I am a woman, but because I am the most qualified candidate with a set of policies that will be best for the people of this nation. Granted, that did not work with the ignorant base of the democratic party, who elevated form over substance, and committed the worst electoral mistake in two hundred years. But is would have been well received in the general election, where her campaign tilted. The other reason I would counsel against playing the gender card to silence dissenting opinion is because there are many women who will call bullshit on the tactic. When I campaigned for Hillary in West Virginia, I learned this insight, because the question I kept asking people in an effort to persuade them was would’t having a woman president be beneficial to you as a woman, and believe me it was a non starter. The insight I got was from an attractive middle aged state congresswoman who I stood next to in the rain holding a sign for herself while I stood next to her holding a 3 tier Hillary sign. She told me that it did not work that way, it was more like high school in some respects and many girls do not like the top girl. I knew when to shut up, and stop asking that foolish question of mine. Obama can whine about the slings and arrows he has suffered, some real, most imagined. But when a woman who wants to be president does it, it does not works so well. And we all know big media will not give her the same pass they gave to Obama. My great hope is that people will figure out once and for all that big media is not their friend, and write them out of the book of life. That is my wish, the one thing that could save the country, but it is unlikely to come true.

  99. I played golf with an affable young executive with Safeway Corporation today, who told me that his company is being sold to a venture capital company which previously bought Albertsons with an eye toward merging those two giants. Years ago a transaction of this nature would have been stopped by the Federal Trade Commission, whereas today all you need to do is drop some money in the open pockets of democrat congressmen and viola. The same goes for Republican congressmen. The uniparty makes no distinction in such matters. The other thing this young man told me was that the worst thing that ever happed was the shutdown of government by Ted Cruz. Worse than Obamacare? Yes. Really? Yes. Why? The people who were furloughed were non essential, government went on and when those glorious fighters for small government, i.e. the fucking RINOS lost their nerve and caved, all those non-essentials got full back pay. So where is the harm? Shutting down government hurt our standing with foreign nations. Really? Yes. How? By making it appear that we could not run our government. How much is the federal debt? Dunno? If I told you it was over 18 trillion and that deranged sociopath Obama has been given a blank check by those glorious fighters for small government–the fucking RINOs would you say we know how to run our government. I mean foreign nations lose faith in America? Let me tell you something sonny boy. If there is a trust deficit with foreign nations, the root cause is not domestic politics, or an interregnum with the Leviathan. The reason is because we punish our friend, reward our enemies, hand down ultimatums, back down and our president blames America for all the problems in the world. Really? No. I am just kidding.

  100. To be clear about this. You don’t just hand over the money to the Congressman–that would be a bribe. I have known people who have done that and I have known other people who prosecuted them for doing it. If you want to know how it is done read the memoires of Abramoff. Or just ask yourself why do corporations hold fundraisers in posh locales for Obama? And where do those funds go, but to him. But in this case the law says just because it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, why silly goose, it is really a zebra. And all the money these mega-corporations pay to Obama is not payment for future services, but proceeds from a detached and disinterested generosity.

  101. Yes, it is a sweet deal for the political class and Washington insiders. And they had the gall to condemn the mafia when they did essentially the same thing. I begin to believe the late Joseph Columbo, who claimed that there was no mafia and it is just racial discrimination against Americans of Italian descent had it right. Too bad nobody believed him.

  102. I agree with Michael Ledeen, who posts at PJMedia. The attack on Cruz parallels the shrill and deranged prior attacks on the Tea Party and Sarah Palin. The Uniparty uses the vile big media to smite down any person or organization who blows the whistle on them, and the good life they are enjoying at the expense of the American People. They also use mainstream media to anesthetize the public with lies, bread and circuses. It is so obvious now.
All this whining about Ted Cruz is getting on my nerves. They’re upset that he’s criticizing Republican leaders like Mitch McConnell, instead of rallying to the Republican establishment banner in all the primaries, the better, they seem to think, to take over the Senate after the November elections. “Fight Obama, not the Republican leadership. (snip)

We need a very vigorous debate, and no one should be given a free pass. If a sitting senator or representative has failed to fight the expansion of state power and the policy of global appeasement, I want to hear why. Tough Republican primaries will help define the issues in the November election. That sort of debate will produce criticism of Obama, and perhaps lead to the election of those who may provide the will and the vision to start undoing at least some of the damage his presidency has done to us.

So it’s misleading to accuse Cruz of ignoring Obama and only going after Republicans. He’s going after Republicans who have failed to fight Obama.

When I read some of the attacks on Cruz, I wonder if at least some of the anger is the result of his tenacity. I remember being told, when he was in the midst of his filibuster against Obamacare, that it was going to be damaging to the country and deadly to himself. He would lose, and that would pretty much end his role as a potential party or national leader.

He’s still standing, and he was proven right to go all out to try to stop Obamacare.

I quite agree with Jeffrey Lord when he says:

Simply put, Ted Cruz — like Ronald Reagan before him — understands what it takes to make a majority. And he’s doing it. Over the vociferous objections of the same kind of people who kept warning Republicans that if they listened to Ronald Reagan they would get clobbered. Which is exactly why Ted Cruz is being greeted as a hero.

I think he’s right to call attention to the shortcomings of his party’s leaders.

  103. Obama Threatens US Governors

Threats and intimidation have become the hallmark traits of America’s first dictator – our lawless President. This week, Obama held a meeting with governors from across the country. He set a much more aggressive tone, indicating that he had the power and could do whatever the hell he pleased. The chilling veiled threats were the norm for Obama – just ask Rick Perry and Nikki Haley:

At one point during the morning meeting at the White House, the president even warned Republicans he would strike back if they complained about potential cuts to the National Guard.

“He said, ‘If I hear any of you pushing back, making statements about Washington spends too much money, you will hear from me.,’” recalled Texas Gov. Rick Perry during a news conference at the Chamber of Commerce following the meeting. “I don’t mind telling you I was a bit troubled today by the tone of the president.”

”He basically said, ‘Many people in this room have asked for cuts. Now you’re getting them,’” said South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley. “He said, ‘If somebody questions it, I’m going to have to say something about it. It chilled the room quite a bit.”

  104. One of my conservative social media associates just tweeted his daily “newspaper”. Today, it includes video of First Lady Clinton and Chelsea arriving in Bosnia under fire:
I hope it is a sign she has support amongst the tea party types – a group I would not have anticipated as there is still CDS.

Uploaded in March 2008, this video has 2.6 MIL views, so likely it is not news to those here. However despite great personal efforts at the time, this is the first I’ve known of it. It was, of course one of The Greatest Lies promulgated by the WH scum and news scum.
Hope it brings some payback with it this time.

  105. Look what’s in store for us – the UN Post 2015 Agenda. Sounds evil to me.

The United Nations is currently working on a far-reaching plot, developed with radical Obama administration policy architect John Podesta, to “profoundly and dramatically” alter your “worldview” in the name of shackling humanity under a UN-managed “universal sustainable development agenda.” According to the controversial report produced for UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon by a team of establishment “eminent persons,” within the next six years, no realm of the human experience will escape the “profound transformation” toward “a new paradigm” demanded by globalist bureaucrats.

The UN document, while packed with contradictory machinations, essentially outlines what establishment proponents of global government have long described as a “New World Order.” In essence, the UN panel called for a top-down restructuring of human civilization under the guise of tackling poverty, “unsustainable” activities, and “climate change.” The international outfit and its mostly dictatorial member regimes will set the agenda, with regional, national, and sub-national governments expected to foist it on humanity.

Literally every person on Earth must submit and contribute, the planetary establishment claimed on multiple occasions in the radical document. It was not immediately clear what would happen with those who refuse.

The report on the “Post-2015 Development Agenda,” dubbed “A New Global Partnership: Eradicate Poverty and Transform Economies Through Sustainable Development,” was compiled and endorsed by a “High-Level Panel of Eminent Persons.” Under the plan, expected to be discussed later this year at a UN meeting in New York, a planetary treaty on “sustainable development” would drastically transform everything from government and the economy to society and even individuals’ beliefs.

“Perhaps the most important transformative shift is towards a new spirit of solidarity, cooperation, and mutual accountability that must underpin the post-2015 agenda,” the report says. “This partnership should involve governments but also include others: people living in poverty, those with disabilities, women, civil society and indigenous and local communities, traditionally marginalised groups, multilateral institutions, local and national government, the business community, academia and private philanthropy.” In other words, everyone and everything.

  106. To the several, including admin, who have been telling me that HRC is or should be against Obamacare and that she should avoid the issue, or skirt it, or “pummel” it, in view of 2016, she has now come out supporting Obamacare and pushing back about all the hubbub and misinformation that is making it hard to see what changes have to be made to it. She says:

“I think we are on the right track in many respects,” CNN quoted Clinton as saying in remarks in Orlando, Florida, to the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.

“But I would be the first to say if things aren’t working, then we need people of good faith to come together and make evidence-based changes” ….

Among issues she said should be addressed were small businesses of 50 or more employees providing health coverage and companies moving people to part-time from full-time work to avoid making healthcare contributions.

Clinton praised Obamacare for allowing people under 26 to stay on their parents’ healthcare plans and broadening access to preventive care.

She said all the “misinformation” was making it difficult to discuss the law in Washington.

“Part of the challenge is to clear away all the smoke and try to figure out what is working and what isn’t,” Clinton, who served as secretary of state in Obama’s first term, was quoted by CNN as saying.

“What do we need to do to try to fix this? Because it would be a great tragedy, in my opinion, to take away what has now been provided.

This is exactly what I’ve been saying for months now, and I’ve had a very strong feeling that it is what HRC would also say if queried on the subject.

We are too engrossed in the idea that Obama has taken credit for the Affordable Care Act, which was not his undertaking at all but that of Congress, so that we blow sky high anything we find wrong with it, because it is now called ‘OBAMA’care and we hate Obama, so we don’t want to think about “evidence-based changes” and prefer to see American healthcare go down the drain.

Essentially, we are not acting as the “people of good faith” that Hillary wants.

  107. jes, even Republicans like some parts of the bill, which is why some of their rhetoric about “repeal” of it is empty. They, too, like the provision for children under 26 to remain on parents’ policies, as well as other provisions of the ACA. In saying “We’re on the right track in MANY RESPECTS” is not the most enthusiastic of endorsements. Hell, some of the Republicans have as much as said that.

Hillary was fighting for health care reform when Obama was figuring out ways to shaft the people of Chicago,in preparation for his later effort to shaft the entire country. Many of us supported Hillary, in part, because of her efforts to reform health care during Bill’s administration. However, I don’t think many of us would have continued to support her had she and the Dems been as treacherous in their efforts as Obama, Pelosi, and the Dem leaders were in pushing Obamacare through.

I know you are aware of how this bill came about, the manner in which it was pushed through, with legislators not given the opportunity to fully read and understand it. No need to go there again. The manner in which this was handled by Obama and the Dems and continues to be handled by Obama, as he changes the law at will, with a pen stroke or a public announcement, was a damn travesty which will forever taint the ACA. Then, there’s the issue of the harm that has been done to Americans because of it.

If opposing Obama and Obamacare makes me a person not “of good faith that Hillary wants” then get out the colors and color me that. When Hillary asked us to vote for Obama after he stole the nomination in 2008, many of us replied, “I own my vote”. In the political climate of today, with the Dems being as bad as Republicans when it comes to rigging elections, that vote may not mean shit, but I own it.

  108. Oh God No! This is going too far! Will obama force us to pay for this too?

‘After Birth Abortions’ Proposed in Ethics Journal

According to this, two philosophers named Alberto Giubilini and Francesca Minerva (henceforth to be referred to as G&M) have written a piece published in the Journal of Medical Ethics, which is entitled, “After-birth abortion: why should the baby live?” After-birth abortion is, of course, the killing of a baby AFTER IT IS BORN. This is what these philosophers are justifying. And here are a few of the arguments they use:

    1. Both fetuses and newborns do not have the same moral status as actual persons

    2. The fact that fetuses and newborns are potential persons is morally irrelevant

    3. Adoption isn’t always in the best interest of actual people

Their conclusion? Killing newborns should be permissible in every case that abortion is permissible, including when said newborn is perfectly healthy.

G&M write that abortions early on in pregnancy are always the best option (versus after-birth abortions), for “psychological and physical reasons.” However, their point is that if “economical, social, or psychological circumstances change” with a new parent “such that taking care of the offspring becomes an unbearable burdon on someone, then people should be given the chance of not being forced to do something they cannot afford.”

They actually said that, you guys. In other words, if you find yourself with an unexpected bill right when you deliver your baby, you can decide a few days later to just have your baby killed. Because, you know, you can’t afford a kid. Or something.

And this is published in an ETHICS journal.

  109. Their conclusion? Killing newborns should be permissible in every case that abortion is permissible, including when said newborn is perfectly healthy.

They say it is ok to MURDER ???? 👿

  110. It is economic politics, a very old game, from which the few are hoping to control the many. Why the media does not indicate the truth of this, I don’t know. Perhaps every mouth and pen has been bought out already. Then again, I watch and read much less from any of that clatter these days. Partly due to physical challenges, and partly due to it gives me a headache listening to impudent children lie so easily and so often.

Which will lend credence to the view that if Hillary runs and if Hillary wins, her adminstration will turn out to be Obama III and Obama IV. In that case, I would be wasting my time. Bear in mind, she rejected the entire premise of Obamacrae in 1994, when it was presented to her through Teddy Kennedy from the Republicans. But now she embraces it? And now she brings Obama people on her team? Obamacare, shore of the formalities and schmaltz is a combination of crony capitalism for the rich and the paupers grave for the rest of us. How nice for them . . .

  112. Looking good Hillary!!! 🙂

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — In an expansive speech here Wednesday night, Hillary Rodham Clinton said the path for the nation’s renewal lies in broadening the participation of women, the poor, young people and other disadvantaged people in the public debate.

Clinton framed an argument for inclusion and equality that could become a core theme of her 2016 presidential campaign, should she decide to run. She recalled one of the formative experiences of her youth, going to hear the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. speak on a cold night in Chicago, and said his message still resonates in the 21st century.

  113. Next Wednesday, Louis Learner will be “asked” to appear before Congress to answer questions. If she shows up, she will invoke the Fifth Amendment–unless she is given immunity. To date, there has been no proffer as to what she will testify to, and so that side bar discussion has gone nowhere. When and if she shows up, and when and if she pleads the Fifth, the House will hold her in contempt of court, with all Republicans agreeing and all Democrats screaming that this is a witch hunt. And to jail she will go. The Republicans had better make good on that threat. She needs to rot in jail, for thwarting the system as she has, and as a deterrent to other agency heads whom Obama has weaponized to go after the American People. Seeing that happen, and seeing Obama powerless to prevent it, will chip away at the arrogance of his minions who use their agencies for perverse political ends. I know of no other way to stop this kind of abuse. Right now the Republicans have a big credibility gap with their base. Having her head on the end of a long stick would soothe the savage beast for now. Is that what our politics has come down to? Under the Liar in chief, in a word, yes.

  114. Louis Learner does not make a very appealing martyr. I cannot imagine a groundswell of support to free a former IRS minion who under the most charitable interpretation overstepped her authority and has proven to be slippery and evasive.

  115. When fat bald Phil Griffin, the weak leader of msnbc, who delegates the leadership function to Rachel Madcow, claims that msnbc is an “insider” in the Obama adminstration, which makes it sound like they are merely a mouthpiece, was he kidding? True. Just as the men who stood at the bar at Nurenberg were “just following orders”. But if we could get her to say that under oath, then I believe that the immunity she is after would not be a problem. And that is where the Nuremberg analogy fails.

  117. Your new article, Managed Decline For America …. is a gem. TY admin.

This has been out for a day or two, but the ending of this specific report has a humor about it; perhaps “journalists” are also weary of the tripe they publish.

Rep. Ed Pastor (D-Ariz.) will not run for reelection, he announced Thursday.“After 23 years in Congress serving the people of Arizona, I have decided that I will not seek re-election this year. It has been a great honor and experience, but it is time for me to close this chapter of my life and start a new one,” he said in a Facebook post. Pastor offered no details on his future plans.
The 11-term lawmaker’s retirement opens up a safe Democratic seat.
Within minutes of Pastor’s announcement, assistant state House Minority Leader Ruben Gallego (D) tweeted that he’s running for the seat, and is an early favorite in the race.

… In saying “We’re on the right track in MANY RESPECTS” is not the most enthusiastic of endorsements. Hell, some of the Republicans have as much as said that.

HRC doesn’t make an enthusiastic endorsement, true. But the fact that some Republicans, as you say, “like some parts of the bill” shows us up, here at ‘Big Pink’, for being lame in our approach to the Affordable Care Act, because we’re not even as aware as some Republicans of the upside of the ACA.

In the four months since the rollout of this plan began, I have not seen a single post here saying anything positive about the ACA, how we could improve it, and precious few posts even specified what they thought was wrong with the law. We are simply delirious about anything that will bring down Obama’s ratings. That’s all that matters to us.

For my part, my current view of Obama is that he is irrelevant since Nov 6, 2012. It’s ‘The One’ I don’t care about any more; but I do care about American healthcare and I think, as Hillary says, “we’re on the right track in many respects”.

Rather than contribute to the “smoke” and “misinformation” that HRC denounces, I take it as my duty to make suggestions as to how we can move beyond the ACA, or correct it, toward the universal healthcare system she has always dreamed of, as painlessly as possible.

If we move into 2016 as obsessed with the downside of Obama as we are now, we will never have her ear because we frankly don’t deserve it.
