Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary – This Is How The ObamaCare Garden Grows

Update: Congratulations, Barack Obama, on winning PolitiFact’s “Lie of the Year”! Mary Landreiu and every other Obama Dimocrat get the award too. Landreiu and the Obama Dimocrats who voted for the ObamaCare scam perpetrated the “Lie of the Year” for the scam of the decade. Politifact protected Obama’s lies for too long but now ObamaCare forces them to admit the lies come from the liar.

Drat! Supporters of the Pope for Man of the Year have more clout than we do. Their man got the Time magazine cover. But it’s not as if we came up empty handed. Our nominee for thing of the year failed to win, again. Our thing of the year nominee has failed again, and again, and again – no surprise to us.

Our nominee for thing of the year was ObamaCare. Why was this our choice even as ObamaCare continues to fail? Because of ObamaCare, we reasoned, the daddy of ObamaCare has been exposed as the doofus he is, the treacherous lying boob that he is – just like his daddy. Like daddy, like son, like the thing produced – treacherous lying failure – the tree is known by it’s fruit. We’re talking sour lemons here.

Time Magazine’s choice of someone other than our nominee is certainly no loss for us. Time Magazine has plastered Obama’s puss so many times on their cover few Americans take that rag seriously anymore. Our nominee for thing of the year gave us a bounty of laughs all year and today is no exception.

Because of ObamaCare many Obama cultists are leaving the shrine. We picture Obama voters walking into walls, stepping on rakes, staring empty eyed at pictures of their love bug Barack from back in 2008. That was the year when we were called racists for pointing out the obvious. But Obama cultists, their brains drooling onto their shoes like scuzzy men at a hootchie coochie strip bar, loved themselves their Barack and only racism could be the reason for anyone to reject the Chicago pimp. Now, the Obama cult has gone racist. Racists:

MSNBC cleaned the tape up to hide Obama cultists calling Barack “dishonest” but it’s still the focus group from Hell. Rat bastard racists!

Rat bastard racists! We’ll probably never get tired of mocking them. We’re certainly not tired today. We’ve got a Santa-sized sack of mockery to dump on the sad sacks that listened to, believed in, and voted for Barack Obama.

We laughed heartily today when the news hit that the earnest-looking guy signing at the Mandela funeral service was a fake. It’s the age of fake over and over. But what struck us was how lucky the deaf are in this high visibility scam act. Consider: the fake sign language guy has done this before; the fake sign language guy’s supporters came up with a bunch of cockamamie excuses, such as he was signing in the nonexistent “Zulu sign language,” to excuse the scam – and after listening to just a few seconds of Barack Obama’s funereal drone we realized the deaf came out lucky “listening” to sign language gibberish instead of Barack Obama’s swill.

In Louisiana, rat bastard racist Mary Landrieu is up to her racist tricks – blaming Barack Obama for her votes! Racist! In her first reelection ad rat bastard racist Landrieu blames Barack and attacks him in an attempt to pretend that she is somehow anti-Obama and anti-ObamaCare:

Unfortunately for rat bastard racist Mary Landrieu, there is video of her rat bastard record:

Mary, Mary your record is quite contrary to what you say it is.

Mary, Mary the record of ObamaCare is quite contrary to what Americans have been told.

Mary, Mary, quite contrary, this is really how the ObamaCare garden grows:

Uh oh: Only 5-15% of enrollees have paid their first month of premiums in some ObamaCare plans.

Bob Laszewski: The demographic mix in some ObamaCare risk pools right now is “very, very bad”.

No big: HealthCare.Gov’s pricetag up by $47 million and counting.

New data from HHS: 365,000 sign-ups for ObamaCare plans so far.

WaPo: ObamaCare is pretty much a compliance nightmare for small businesses.

That’s just some of the ObamaCare disasters revealed today which hide deeper problems and bigger lies. Small businesses will be hiring – lawyers to comply with the sewerage backup called ObamaCare. With a goal of 800,000 enrollments by now HHS announced less than half that. Many of those “enrollments” will turn out to be duplicates. Of those “enrollments” the word that best applies is “FAKE”.

The enrollment numbers are “FAKE” because only 5% to 15% of the FAKE enrollees have actually paid their first premium. As any Amazon shopper knows you have to pay before they ship your package to your home. Make that as any shopper that has every purchased anything knows. You make your selection, then you go to the cash register, and you pay. Then you take your purchased product home. It works the same way even for a manure pit like ObamaCare.

Medicaid is a manure pit now too. The majority of sign-ups are not with ObamaCare but with Medicaid. And, according to USAToday, a lot of those Medicaid sign-ups are in for a nasty shock when they discover that what the ObamaCare website has told them is not true and they are not enrolled and must pay. Oh, and by the way congressional aides, The Hill is reporting that you should not rely on the ObamaCare website information either. The ObamaCare website is still such a mess that applications have to be manually corrected.

And, oh yeah, the young and the healthy are not wasting their money to purchase this ObamaCare feces.

Mary, Mary, your Obama garden has gone to seed.

Pete Festersen’s exit from House race against Lee Terry stuns Democrats

Until Monday afternoon, just about everyone following Pete Festersen’s congressional campaign thought things were on track.

National and local Democratic Party leaders, who had pressed the Omaha City Council president to get in the race, thought they’d found the perfect candidate to keep Republican Lee Terry from securing a ninth term. “If you want hardworking House members,” the Nebraska Democratic Party’s Twitter account announced Sunday, “vote for … Pete Festersen.”

Donors were writing big checks. Just last week, a Festersen birthday party-fundraiser at Castle Barrett brought in more than $17,000. By year’s end, the campaign was on track to have more than $200,000 in the bank.

Nebraska Democratic Party officials were meeting Monday afternoon to talk about, among other things, how the Festersen-Terry race looked promising.

That is, until their phones started buzzing. And buzzing again. Festersen had announced that he was out — and with less than a year before the election, his party was without a candidate.

Festersen said his decision, made after a weekend of discussion with his family, came down to a simple calculation. The demands of city government, business, a family with young children and a congressional campaign were more than he could handle.

“It is the right time for moderate, practical-minded people to make a difference, but I’ve determined it’s not the right time for me or my young family to run for national office,” he told The World-Herald on Monday.

It was the second curveball of Festersen’s short-lived campaign.

For months, prominent Democrats —including Vice President Joe Biden —had urged the 43-year-old Festersen to challenge Terry. And for months, he said no. He was busy with his two young children, he said. It wasn’t the right time.

But over the summer, Terry’s chances of a sure re-election seemed to be weakening. The National Republican Congressional Committee put him on a list of incumbents at serious risk from challengers. And during the government shutdown in the fall, Terry drew criticism for comments he made when asked if he’d decline his salary.

    Festersen jumped in the race.

“Change is needed,” he said in October. “And I felt it was my responsibility to be that change.”
Now, it will be somebody else’s responsibility. [snip]

A handful of potential Democratic challengers said they’ve already ruled out a run.

When Festersen made his decision to jump into the race in October, GOP incumbents generally were taking a beating in the polls thanks to their role in the shutdown.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released polling at the time that showed Festersen neck-and-neck with Terry.

Since then, however, the shutdown has faded from the public mindset, and Democrats have found themselves on the defensive over the troubles of the new federal health care law.

A Washington Post-ABC News poll found opposition to the health care law among Americans at 57 percent — a record high. The same poll found “almost four in 10 Americans say they are more likely to oppose a politician who backs the legislation, while just over a fifth say they would be more likely to support such a politician,” according to the newspaper.

ObamaCare kills – Obama Dimocrats deservingly so.

  2. You made me laugh right out loud – thank you! “…and after listening to just a few seconds of Barack Obama’s funereal drone we realized the deaf came out lucky “listening” to sign language gibberish instead of Barack Obama’s swill.”

And then add Mary Landrieu doing her own version of Zulu sign language on the Senate floor reading and waving her official paper giving the final word on ObamaCare.

  3. …you know what they say…

  4. The entire event was uncomfortable IMO. I respect what Nelson Mandela went through ,his bringing S. Africa together , and what he represented to millions. Nonetheless, I disagreed with many of his positions. He deserved a more dignified memorial, but this is , as note supra, the age of fake. Just turn on the TV or radio and see what passes for talent today and you actual can appreciate the dude “interpreting ” at the ceremony. At least he was entertaining.

  5. Great post admin. Is it bad that I am looking forward to watching the dems that supported Ocare die at the polls? Mary Mary quite the bumbles fairy will find life outside D.C. not as fulfilling. Can’t wait.

Funny thing happened here in H-town. Turns out a big government contract was given to General Dynamics to provide a call center for Ocare’s webpage. I wonder how that turned out? Let’s see…..

I respect what Nelson Mandela went through ,his bringing S. Africa together , and what he represented to millions. Nonetheless, I disagreed with many of his positions.

I’m curious as to which of his positions you disagreed with. Granted, during the revolutionary phase of the overthrow of apartheid, he adopted a communist position and a militant and destructive stance. But when put in a position of leadership, he governed from the center. His policies were rooted in growth and national unity. His foreign policy was centered around South African as a beacon for the world to emulate, and the presence of the multitude of world leaders back me up on that one.

    Pattern developing for President Selfie
Obama’s personality cult lets no photo op go to waste

    John Kass

    December 11, 2013
There are many ways to remember President Barack Obama’s appearance at South Africa’s memorial for Nelson Mandela.

Some may remember Obama as Mandela’s spiritual son, our president riding on his own soaring rhetoric at that stadium, wrapping himself in Mandela’s mantle, dreaming of the father of the new South Africa.

And others will seize on Obama shaking hands with the executioner of Cuba, our president bowing to Raul Castro just as he once bowed to the lords of the Chicago Democratic Machine before beginning his climb.

But those images — Obama riding on his magic rhetorical carpet, reaching for dreams of Mandela, or his clasping of the right hand of Fidel Castro’s demonic brother — are about politics.

But there’s another image from the memorial that defines Obama. It has nothing to do with ideology.

A news photographer captured the president sitting with the prime ministers of Great Britain and Denmark. He has a cellphone in his hand. The three of them are grinning.

First lady Michelle Obama sits off to the side, somber, dignified, as the world remembers Mandela. Yet next to her like some goofy adolescent who hasn’t yet been taught how to behave properly at a memorial service — her husband — is snapping a memorial to himself.

    President Selfie.

That’s what he’s being called now, and it blew up on the Twitterverse. It’s not the most compelling photojournalism in history. But it is clear, and as pointed as a pin.

Obama and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt extend their arms, hands on the cellphone, to take the self-portrait. British PM David Cameron leans in. They’re as bubbly as school kids ordering a happy meal.

Why would a president take a selfie at a memorial for Mandela? Because it wasn’t about Mandela.

    It was about Barack.

And isn’t it always about Barack?

Earlier, Obama sauntered through the crowd, shaking hands, waving, welcoming the love bath they gave him. He wasn’t mourning as much as he was campaigning for adoration, a man determined to receive his due.

And then came the presidential selfie.

It fits into a pattern, of almost uncontrollable presidential selfieism.

A few days ago, when Mandela passed away at 95, Obama’s media managers tweeted a photograph. You’d think he’d tweet a photograph of Mandela. But it wasn’t of Mandela.

It was of Obama in Mandela’s former prison cell, the president having gone to the prison because he couldn’t get that photo op he wanted with the ailing South African during Obama’s $100 million African vacation.

    Obama as Mandela.

And then there was Obama as Rosa Parks.

To commemorate Parks, who 58 years ago this month defied racists who wanted black people to sit in the back of the bus, Obama released another tweet.

Not of Rosa Parks. But of Obama, sitting on the bus by himself, Obama Rosa.

“In a single moment 58 years ago today, Rosa Parks helped change this country,” said the presidential tweet.

Yet there was Obama on the bus alone. It’s all about Barack.

His social media managers should be sent to Guantanamo for feeding this electronic cult of personality.

There are no Obama selfies from his earlier life in Chicago, the pre-messianic Obama, the man who would later promise to hold back the oceans and heal the planet with a wave of his lips.

I’d have loved a selfie of Obama and his real estate fairy, Tony Rezko, as they stood on the lawn in front of Obama’s dream house in the Kenwood neighborhood. That was the home that Rezko helped him get, in a deal that the president confessed was a “boneheaded” move.

Just think of what he might have tweeted at the time, there on the lawn with Tony, wearing khaki shorts, polo shirts and Sox gear:

“The Tony Rezko I know realized I really wanted this house. And he was right!”

And what about tweeted pix of Obama voting “present” all those times in the Illinois Senate, or one of Obama on bended knee before then-Senate President Emil Jones, asking to be made a U.S. senator.

Or selfies with former Gov. Rod Blagojevich or former Mayor Rich Daley or Boss Mike Madigan.

Ah, such tweets, such tweets. They’d be worth the price. Sadly, the Twitterverse back then was nothing like the one today.

Besides, Twitter deals in only 140 characters, and Obama’s speech at the Mandela memorial was a tad longer.

It dripped with peace, as Obama told the world that Mandela’s death should prompt self-reflection. He said he often asks himself: “How well have I applied his (Mandela’s) lessons in my own life?”

“We too, must act on behalf of peace. … The questions we face today — how to promote equality and justice, to uphold freedom and human rights, to end conflict and sectarian war — do not have easy answers. … Nelson Mandela reminds us that it always seems impossible until it is done.”

The man who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize without accomplishing anything except demonstrating competence in raw politics and rhetoric forgot a few things.

He forgot those killer drones he sends down from the skies. And he forgot the fact that he would have bumbled us into another war in Syria had not the American people stopped him.

But it’s not all talk with the president. There’s that picture from the stadium, and he’s grinning.

    President Selfie.

…no wonder the WH won’t allow outside photographers anywhere near Obama and they only release photographs from the WH photographer…

…one can only imagine what goes on behind closed White House doors…

  7. The fake signer is claiming he was “suffering from a schizophrenic episode” during the ceremony……..

So if this was true, which i think is bullshit, they put world leaders next to a guy who was practically looney tunes at the time, does not say much for security.

  8. The truth doesn’t come from ‘world leaders’ but rather from the people who live there. I truly doubt that these white farmers would agree that Mandela governed from the center and brought the country together.

    White Genocide in South Africa
    TV Alberts
    October 2013

I would kindly like to inform you about the ongoing white genocide in the Republic of South-Africa. Since 1994, the end of the so-called Apartheid, whites people, especially white farmers, have been subject to extremely brutal and racist murders. About 50 people on average are murdered in South-Africa per day, of which at least 20 of them are whites(95+ % black on white murder rate). Please take into consideration that white people make up only 9% (4 500 000) of the demographics in South-Africa and therefore the white murder rate in South-Africa is quite significant. No doubt he was some crony friend who got the job, the guy was not even a registered interpreter.

  10. Press Release: Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit, Plans Wheel-In Rally at Senator Claire McCaskill’s St. Louis Office

Saturday December 14, 2013 / 11 AM CT until Noon
    – Wheel-In Location:
Senator Claire McCaskill’s St. Louis Office
    5850 Delmar Blvd, Ste. A
    St. Louis, Missouri 63112
From 11 AM CT to Noon

Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit will join fellow Missourians for a Wheel-In at Senator Calire McCaskill’s St. Louis office on Saturday, December 14th from 11 am to noon. Jim, like more than 6 million Americans has lost his healthcare coverage with the implementation of Obamacare. He and others will bring their concerns to Senator McCaskill and from his wheelchair will ask “Why Americans are being punished by Democrats with the loss of affordable healthcare and the erosion of personal choice and liberty?”’

While much of the focus of late has been on the catastrophic failure of the Obamacare website, the true failure of this disastrous law is the law itself. Simply put, Obamacare is not a bad website, it is bad law. Obamacare provides a list that grows daily of broken promises by Democrats to the American people. Senator McCaskill voted in favor of this assault on individual liberty and owes the voters in her state answers.

Hoft explains, “It is unbelievable that in the United States of America millions are losing their insurance because of this destructive power grab by this administration. What is more shocking is that Americans are taking this on the chin. This weekend, we will stand up and say, ‘No more!” Despite what President Obama said, and Democrats reinforced, millions of Americans CAN NOT keep their insurance. They can not keep their doctors and they WILL pay more. It is time for Americans to go directly to those who are supposed to represent them to demand answers.”

  11. I am still in disgust at Missouri giving McCaskill another six years to rip the people off and build her own bank account up. they deserve everything they get, they voted her back in knowing what she did.

  12. Insiders Reveal Obama Framed Assad for Chemical Weapons Attack

Top Secrets documents and high-level insiders in the Pentagon and CIA reveal that Obama, using doctored Syrian army communications, framed Syrian strongman Bashar al-Assad for the August 21, 2013 chemical weapons attack.

According to Pulitzer Prize-winning author Seymour Hersh, it was actually the al-Qaeda-linked Syrian rebel group al-Nusrafunded by Obamatrained by none other than our own CIAand not al-Assadwho was behind the attack.

Shockingly, this was known by Obama hours after the attack.

    But it gets worse.

When Obama, ten days after the chemical weapons attack, demanded that America attack Syria, promising only a two or three day “surgical strike,” he had been in fact planning a full scale invasion of Syria, lasting months if not years, that would involve a staggering 70,000 U.S. troops.

It was only the Joint Chiefs of Staff, led by General Martin Dempsey, who put a stop to Obama’s madness, along with the American people who refused to fight another one of Obama’s unconstitutional wars.

This rogue presidentthis liar, this deceiver, this traitor, Barack Hussein Obamamust be impeached immediately.

  13. According to Democrats the good news is Medicaid enrollment is the largest factor in the numbers. The problem is that the website is not giving the information to the states in a form that they can use. “Some users who fill out applications on the federal site may believe that they’re already being enrolled in Medicaid or that state officials will contact them, even though the agencies aren’t receiving the information they need, said Matt Salo, executive director of the National Association of Medicaid Directors. The data transfer problem is occurring in the 36 states where the federal site is deployed, regardless of whether they chose to expand Medicaid.

“Essentially, if you’re a consumer on, it will tell you you’re eligible for Medicaid and the state agency will take care of it, but there’s no real way for the state Medicaid agency to know anything about it,” said Salo, who leads the nonpartisan membership group for state Medicaid chiefs.”

So the site forces people into Medicaid even if they don’t want it, does not allow them to sign up for a Obamacare policy that would be subsidized (which is the entire purpose of the site and laws), tells them they are eligible for Medicaid even in states that chose not to expand it because of the fiscal time bomb it causes, then doesn’t send the information to the state. So January 1 a large group of people think they have Medicaid (even if they didn’t want it) and they got nothing and no way to get it. So even the Democrats “good news” of Medicaid enrollment does not work worth $hit.

  14. This woman was involved in the fake birth certificate controversy.

Hawaii Health Director Loretta Fuddy confirmed dead in plane crash

Loretta Fuddy, director of the Hawaii Department of Health, reportedly died due to injuries she received in the crash of a small commuter plane shortly before 4:00 p.m. local time Wednesday. Confirmation of her death occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m. local time (1:00 a.m. Eastern time on Thursday, December 12, 2013).

Fuddy was at the center of controversy in the birth certificate controversy as she was the person who reportedly granted “an exception” to Barack Obama, allegedly witnessing the copying of Obama’s birth certificate and attested to its authenticity. Her involvement in the alleged fraudulent activity pertaining to the long form birth certificate of Barack Hussein Obama, was the discussion of The Hagmann & Hagmann Report , along with numerous others, as detailed in this report.

  15. Ocare breaking the law. 🙄

Under the the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), the Department of Health and Human Services’ Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is required to have an “Authority to Operate,” or ATO. In order to receive an ATO, new information tech systems must perform a set of tests, including “Security Control Assessments” (SCA).

  16. She has to go!!! 😡

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services told contractors not to cooperate with Congress’s efforts to investigate work related to the Obamacare website, a top Republican lawmaker said.

The agency informed Creative Computing Solutions Inc. on Dec. 6 that it isn’t authorized to disclose security testing information and other details to third parties, according to a letter today from Representative Darrell Issa to Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

  17. EGYPT SHOCKER! Russia reveals U.S. confidential report about Obama plan to get Egyptian Army involved in a civil war to overthrow General Sisi

Recently, the Russians revealed a U.S. Confidential Report about the Obama Regime plan for getting the Egyptian Military involved in a civil war and the necessity of overthrowing the wildly popular general who deposed former President Mohamed Morsi, General Abd Elfatah Al Sisi, now the Egyptian Minister of Defense, before he becomes the new Nasser.

The US report revealed by the Russians started by saying that “if Egyptians don’t have a reason to kill each other, we must find them one…”

  18. Two things which stand out in my mind right now.

The first one is, just how robotic Kathleen Sebelius sounds in her testimony before Congress. It is striking really how little their talking points have evolved, and how unresponsive she is to pointed questions. The operative word is robotic.

The second thing I have noticed is much of an outlier poll Rassmussen has been since Scott left that organization. The bias there is real and palpable. I have heard that Soros or his people are exerting influence but I have not been able to confirm it. I guess I could do my own push polling, but I would prefer to have proof–not that it matters to the sheeple.

Well, I guess there is a third thing at that. The establishment Republicans have vowed to eliminate the conservative wing of the base, and that is not a democrat or media talking point, it is a hard fact. This can be seen on every front now, from the destruction of conservative organizations, to backing the worse RINO candidates, to the rolling over we see with the likes of boy wonder Paul Ryan–to of all people, Patty Murray–who is both a numbskull and a joke. The consultants upon whom establishment republicans rely are missing the boat here. You alienate the base-exactly like they are doing, you will not have a ground game, which is essential. They think they can win by supporting the Washington establishment, and arguing that they are simply more competent than the party of Obama.

If you view the political situation as I do, as a battle between the Washington establishment and the American People, then the difference between Murray and Ryan, or Schumer and McCain, measured in terms of what they do becomes almost insignificant. The only substantive difference is the base of each party is comprised of different elements of what we mistakenly refer to as society, thus their priorities will differ in the margins. But at this point, it is pretty evident that the commitment to small government by the establishment of either party is a snare and a delusion. It therefore follows that a third party is in fact the only possible way to protect the American People.

    She has to go!!!

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services told contractors not to cooperate with Congress’s efforts to investigate work related to the Obamacare website, a top Republican lawmaker said.

Holder refuses to testify, refuses to submit requested documents, in general treats members of congress and the institution, itself with no respect. Behaves like a defiant, smart-mouthed sophomore.

Lois Lerner -Evasive in testimony to congress. Said she did nothing wrong, then pleads 5th Amendment and refuses to testify.

Sebielius (or howeverthehell you spell her name) – tells contractors and HHS not to cooperate with congress.

I’m sure there ae others. How can they get away with this? It is the United States Congress they’re defying. Do you get a choice? IHolder should have been subjected to some kind of penalty – and Barack. Lerner should not have been allowed to hide behind 5th amendment. That unethical liar should have been held accountable, as should the IRS commissioner.

Kathleen should no longer even be in Washington, but since she is, and since she attempted to obstruct congressional investigation, are there no penalties for her actions/

All of these cretins are paid by the US government, including the contractors. We are paying them to attempt to deceive the legislative body of government. The only way these capos would even consider refusing to cooperate with congress in the first place is because their Boss of all Bosses in the WH does not believe there are any constraints on him or his administration. He considers himself to be totally above any kind of legal or governmental limitations..

  20. I find these first two pictures disturbing and I don’t even like Michelle Obama. It looks like someone smacked her around on the plane ride back.

  22. Have they finally had enough…..

Video: Press Corps Explode Over Lack of White House Transparency

During Thursday’s White House press briefing, the press corps erupted in protest over the Obama administration’s lack of transparency and media access. The press corps seemed to be in complete agreement that the Obama White House has been less transparent than the Bush White House. Quite a condemnation for the self-described “most transparent administration in history.”

Tensions have been simmering between the White House and the media over access and transparency, especially as it pertains to photographers. Late last month, a number of elite news organization submitted a letter of protest to White House press secretary Jay Carney demanding more access for photojournalists and less reliance on White House photographs. Things appeared to boil over today due to the fact that no photojournalists were allowed on Air Force One during the president’s trip to South Africa earlier this week.

As he usually does whenever the media get upset, Carney attempted to soothe them through assurances that the president shared their concerns and that something would be done about it. That pablum did not sit very well with CNN’s Brianna Keilar:

Poor babies, not getting thrown your usual scrap from the table of Barack…Assholes should have thought about that when we warned them years ago.

“An army of lions led by a stag is not an army of lions”–Bonaparte

A Washington press corp in open revolt against an asshole they have been giving fellatio to for six years is not an army in revolt. It is nothing more than a hissy fit, which will pass in the fulsomeness of time, as they stoop to construct a virtual legacy for our first black president.

Bottom line: with the exception of FOX, these people have no honor. And they work day and night along with their messiah to wreck our country. That is the truth.

  24. The president of the United States, leader of the free world, standard-bearer for everything upright, good and wholesome about the nation he leads, lost his morality, his dignity and his mind, using the solemn occasion of Nelson Mandela’s memorial service Tuesday to act like a hormone-ravaged frat boy on a road trip to a strip bar.

In front of 91 world leaders, the mourning nation of South Africa and Obama’s clearly furious wife, Michelle, the president flirted, giggled, whispered like a recalcitrant child and made a damn fool of himself at first sight of Denmark’s voluptuously curvy and married prime minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt.

  25. I was watching the only man who ever lost a debate with Joe Biden try to defend the budget deal he entered into with the dumbest woman in congress, on believe it or not, her terms. His defense for caving? Elections have consequences. What a cop out. His job is the only thing that matters to him. The American people can either starve or eat cake, i.e. you can have your own insurance if you can afford it, so you see, if you are a millionaire Obamacare is voluntary. He takes his marching orders from consultants who are telling him to throw the American People to the wolves so there is no cut in military spending, and no government shut down. 26. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi told Democratic House members at a meeting Thursday morning to “embrace the suck” and encouraged enough members to back the budget deal on the floor to allow passage, according to an attendee of the meeting.

“We need to get this off the table so we can go forward,” Pelosi told her members, according to someone inside the closed meeting of the caucus.

Pelosi pushed for including in the budget deal an extension of the unemployment benefits that are set to expire at the end of the month.

  27. Admin –

Nothing better than a good ol’ rant from Admin!!!!!

…Rat bastard racists! We’ll probably never get tired of mocking them. We’re certainly not tired today. We’ve got a Santa-sized sack of mockery to dump on the sad sacks that listened to, believed in, and voted for Barack Obama.

    Amen Admin!

  28. I find this appalling. 👿

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R., Calif.) had a simple question Wednesday for three of the Obama administration’s top Afghanistan specialists: How many American troops have been killed in Afghanistan this year?

None of the witnesses at the House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on Afghanistan had an answer.

How much is the U.S. spending in Afghanistan? Mr. Rohrabacher asked.

    No one could say.

  29. This should have been done a long time ago and is not getting the attention it deserves:

Congressman Tom Rice of South Carolina, a Republican, is sponsoring a resolution in the House of Representatives that would, if adopted, direct the legislative body “to bring a civil action for declaratory or injunctive relief to challenge certain policies and actions taken by the executive branch.” In other words, Rep. Rice wants to take President Obama to court for not faithfully executing the laws.

“President Obama has adopted a practice of picking and choosing which laws he wants to enforce. In most cases, his laws of choice conveniently coincide with his Administration’s political agenda. Our Founding Fathers created the Executive Branch to implement and enforce the laws written by Congress and vested this power in the President. However, President Obama has chosen to ignore some of the laws written by Congress and implemented by preceding Presidents,” Rice wrote in a letter to fellow House members to ask them to co-sponsor this resolution.

“This resolution allows the House of Representatives to bring legal action against the Executive Branch and challenge recent actions, inactions, and policies.”

The “legal action against the President” would be, according to an aide for Rep. Rice, “for ignoring Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution.” Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution states,

He shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in case of disagreement between them, with respect to the time of adjournment, he may adjourn them to such time as he shall think proper; he shall receive ambassadors and other public ministers; he shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed, and shall commission all the officers of the United States.

The resolution alleges that President Obama and his administration have abused executive power and failed to execute the laws of the United States faithfully.

Thus, the resolution calls for “CIVIL ACTION.—The House of Representatives shall bring a civil action in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia for declaratory or injunctive relief to challenge any of the following policies or actions: [snip]

But the cynical voices of the opposition aren’t going away — they’ll stop at nothing to tear down this law.

If you’re proud to support health care reform, you should be on the team that’s fighting back: Join Team Obamacare today.

I’ll be honest with you — I don’t understand how some of the folks on the other side can justify what they’re doing. They’re trying to scare people out of getting coverage by spreading myths and misinformation. And they’re spending a fortune to do it.

Well I doubt he is fasting but Biden is speaking up. 😆

Vice President Joe Biden said Wednesday that some of his ancestors came to the United States illegally and said it’s fruitless to compare the immigration system of the 1800s to today’s.

“My great-great grandparents came escaping the famine and they didn’t all come here legally,” Biden said in response to a questioner who said her family came to the country legally from Ireland in the 1800s. “They didn’t all come legally. And the existence of the system isn’t all truncated like it is now. I’d check your ancestry to make sure

DR. CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Look, at every level, every number that you get on this is either inflated or deceptive. As we just heard from Steve [Hayes], the number of enrollees are not enrollees. It’s people who put stuff in their shopping cart. Amazon would never call it a sale until you get a sale. And they don’t know how many have made the sale. And that’s because what they call euphemistically, the back-end, which is the cash register of the whole system, is not working.

The idea that you have to hand-match people who paid a premium with the insurers isn’t 20th century technology, it is 19th century technology. An insurer has to find the person, call them up, go overall of the details on the form and then adjust them, which of course is impossible to do in any substantial number.

The administration speaks about having had 3 1/3 million signed up by the end of December. They are 3 million short as of now. There is no way it is conceivable that they could sign up that number and even if they did it is not conceivable that the insurers could hand-match the information. I think all of this is to assuage Democrats to give them something to hang their hats on and pretend everything is okay on the recess, but the beginning of January is going to be a train wreck for them.

  37. The Terrorists, Socialists, and Con Men Behind ObamaCare

“If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it…”

This refrain was repeated by Obama literally hundreds of times despite the fact that he knew it was a lie.

But this Big Lie wasn’t some off-the-cuff remark; it was the brainchild of a slick, socialist public relations firm called the Herndon Alliancewhose ultimate goal is a socialist utopia where the State is God.

Gone are the days of blowing up the Pentagon to usher in a socialist utopiaá la Bill Ayers, head of the Weather Underground. Now everything is done in secretstealth socialists they’re called. So former domestic terrorist Weather Underground architect and Bill Ayers buddy Jeff Jones is pushing ObamaCare over at the George Soros-funded Apollo Alliance. And socialist-connected American Environics is doing all the polling for the stealth operation. And another socialist front group, Families USA, is concocting phony ObamaCare “success stories.” Enroll America, the so-called “non-partisan” federally-funded group, outed by James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas as full of liars and conmen, is tasked with signing up dupes for Obama’s overpriced healthcare.

Domestic terrorists, socialists, and con men, all working with Obama to push socialized medicine…and no one is surprised.

  39. More top secret drones, Area 51 anybody?

WASHINGTON (CBS DC) – A secret surveillance drone is under development by Northrop Grumman, reports Aviation Week.

The unmanned aircraft is still classified and is being tested at the notorious Area 51 in the Nevada desert.

There’s been no official word from either the Pentagon or Northrup, but Aviation Week says the drone is called the RQ-180 and will go into service in the Air Force in 2015.

  40. Very impressive exchange above. Compare this to the dullard panels at NBC, ABC and CNN which are cold, bloodless, deceptive, worshipful, and 100% useless–if its the truth you want. Do the sheeple want to truth? Not if it involves any effort on their part. All they want is bread and circuses. They want to be entertained. Like children. And that is all that big media gives them, in their little conspiracy with the administration–more bread, more circuses, til hell won’t have it anymore. And still they want more. Their appetite for bullshit, and the willingness of this corrupt administation to give it to them is seemingly unlimited. Just the other day Rass had Obama’s approval rate at 48% which proves two things: first, that they are an outlier. Second, they have become shamelessly pro Obama after Scott left.

But, I doubt that either she or the O girls are too shocked at his behavior. They’s probably witnessed pretty inappropriate stuff at home.

Anyone want to bet on which news outlet and/or personality will be the first to defend Barack’s behavior at the funeral ?

WASHINGTON (CBS DC) – A secret surveillance drone is under development by Northrop Grumman, reports Aviation Week.

That is a NICE platform. It’s the pinnacle of 5th gen technology and the height of military technology. AESA radar is the next step in how we are going to fight in the air. It is what both the F-22 and the F-35 use as their eyes in the sky. If the RQ-180 is cost effective and we can put a bunch up in the air at the same time (the F-22 fights in flights of 4 against as many as 20 opponents), we could control the high ground in a way that is truly unbeatable. Plus, it looks like the RQ-180 uses the Rolls Royce engines with supercruise capability giving them longs legs as well.

I know that Russia is looking to get back on the world stage as a major player in terms of military strength, but we are truly leaps and bounds ahead of them. There really isn’t any country in the world that can mess with us, INCLUDING the Chinese. Whatever the European military consortium is putting together (the Dasault Eurofighter to be exact) and its super maneuverability still doesn’t look a match for this platform. And the BEST part is – its unmanned! This country will always need brave fighter pilots to go up and defend this country, but this might be the first of a series of game-changers that will change the way we dominate the sky.

    We Rock.

  47. Obamacare to Look Past Unpaid Premiums to Avoid Lapses
By Alex Wayne Dec 12, 2013 9:00 PM PT
Health insurers are being asked by the U.S. government to be lenient with Obamacare customers who miss the Dec. 23 deadline for enrolling in the program or are late with their initial payment.
The Obama administration yesterday encouraged insurers to honor any late sign-ups with retroactive coverage, let people pay only part of their premiums, and honor treatments for patients who go to out-of-network doctors. It’s also considering stretching out the already-extended Dec. 23 cutoff to enroll.
The moves are intended to smooth the nation’s transition into an overhauled health-care system next year, as millions of Americans change insurers or gain coverage they’ve never had. The administration earlier in the day said that an expiring insurance program for sick Americans who’ve been refused coverage by private carriers will be extended for one month.
“The steps we’re taking today will help ensure Americans seeking quality, affordable health coverage can do so with even more peace of mind and with further confidence it will be there if and when they need it,” Kathleen Sebelius, the U.S. Health and Human Services secretary, said on a conference call. 48. Krauthammer believes that Obama is bailing water out of his signature legislation every day to prevent it from sinking, while ignoring the cracks in the hull, the rotten calking, and all the leaks. He wonders what will happen when people who have visited the website, selected the least worst alternative, but not paid for it, go to the doctor after January and discover there is no coverage. Also, he wonders how how the insurance companies can be pay claims when they have not been given the tools required to evaluate the risk.

Not to worry. Be happy. Big media knew the defects in this program. They were common knowledge in the administration, and were discussed and debated long before Obama made his if you like your coverage you can keep it soliloquy. Given the fact that big media is: i) as wired to this administration as they are (through the pass through delivery of talking points, the familial relationships to the administration and the vast interchange of personnel)ii) promoted and lied for Obama in two successive elections, while bitterly assailing anyone who challenged this misbegotten program, and iii) therefore, it is axiomatic that they knew the problems of this program, that what he said was not true, and were therefore co-conspirators in this fraud upon the American People.

Given those stakes, they will find new ways to defend this program, even against a mountain of contrary evidence. They will suppress stories which show how badly it hurts the American People. The attitude of big media vis a vis the American People could hardly be clearer: if they don’t like the lies and breadcrumbs we elites toss them, why they are free to eat cake–and choose their own coverage–if they can afford it. Sadly, the sheeple being sheeple will believe whatever they say. If Brian Williams told them the moon was made of green cheese they would believe him. Just the other day, Rassmussen had Obama’s approval rating at 48%. Put differently, 48% of the sheeple are willing to support a pathological liar, who is robbing them blind.

  49. This is a link to a “Think Progress” attack on Megan Kelly for her response to Harris’s suggestion that Santa should be replaced with a penguin. While I didn’t think Kelly’s remarks were impressive, they were no less so than the Think Progress author, which describes Harris’ remarks as “half-joking” and then launches into a few snarky paragraphs about Kelly.

Half-joking or not, the idea emerged from a misfired synapse on someone’s part. The mythical figure from which Santa derived was of Dutch descent. Damn them, those Nordic types are always fair skinned – apparently an evolutionary glitch on the parts of the gods of adaptation who labored under the misconception that those who were short on melanin fared better in frigid climates with less sunlight.

Maybe the best solution to this never-ending absurd quest to purge this country of every reminder of its damnable European influence, is to require than any and every figure of note, from history or in the future, be a neutral, inoffensive shade of gray. I personally think that would be an improvement for some of them. We can all be gray, and rather than ever celebrating our diversity again, we’ll all be the same.

I guess Barack can add his grand promise to bring post-racial enlightenment to America to his long list of failures.

  50. OMG!!!! 😯

    Chaser, December 10, 2013:

For the second week in a row, the Washington Healthplanfinder website is down, and it’s causing problems for people who are dealing with billing issues. Some of them say the website is mistakenly debiting their accounts.

Shannon Bruner of Indianola logged on to her checking account Monday morning, and found she was almost 800 dollars in the negative.

The Bruners enrolled for insurance on the Washington Healthplanfinder website, last October. They say they selected the bill pay date to be December 24th. Instead the Washington Healthplanfinder drafted the 835 dollar premium Monday.

  52. The often drunk womanizing catholic drunk speaker shot his mouth off about the conservative wing of his party in a way that further alienated that critical faction and delighted the uber corrupt big media. Now, from that asshole Rick Moran, author of the RINO hour of power, and the right wing nuthouse, comes a thoughtful criticism of Boehner, calling him the worst speaker in history, setting off a firestorm, and offering a back handed defense of those conservative groups. Experience has shown that this is not Moran true position. Off the record, he would agree with Boehner’s improvident remarks, if they were uttered quietly in private, rather than shouted from the balcony. Why then would Moran critize Boehner and defend the conservative groups which he has made a career out of demonizing. The answer can be found in one number: 2014. Unlike the consultant class who runs the party and knows nothing about the country which does not appear somewhere in their polling and computer spread sheets, Moran is not stupid. He knows, and he is ahead of the curve on this one, that the establishment war on the conservatives couple with its cowardice in opposing Obama can have but one result–the base stays home. In catering to business interests over the American People, establishment types like Boeher must conceal what they are really thinking. Failing to do that was a huge mistake.

In other words, if somebody pays for coverage in the middle of January, HHS is asking insurers to retroactively make that person’s coverage effective as of Jan. 1. HHS is also asking insurers to cover individuals who offer a “down payment,” even if that payment only covers part of the first month’s premiums.

  57. On a recent afternoon, executives at Goldman Sachs invited a few hundred major investors to the Conrad Hotel in lower Manhattan. The bankers and their guests filed into a large room and turned their eyes to Hillary Clinton.

Ordinarily these masters of the universe might have groaned at the idea of a politician taking the microphone. In the contentious years since the crash of 2008, they’ve grown wearily accustomed to being called names—labeled “fat cats” by President Obama and worse by those on the left—and gotten used to being largely shunned by Tea Party Republicans for their association with the Washington establishment. And of course there are all those infuriating new rules and regulations, culminating this week with the imposition of the so-called Volcker Rule to make risky trades by big banks illegal.

But Clinton offered a message that the collected plutocrats found reassuring, according to accounts offered by several attendees, declaring that the banker-bashing so popular within both political parties was unproductive and indeed foolish. Striking a soothing note on the global financial crisis, she told the audience, in effect: We all got into this mess together, and we’re all going to have to work together to get out of it. What the bankers heard her to say was just what they would hope for from a prospective presidential candidate: Beating up the finance industry isn’t going to improve the economy—it needs to stop. And indeed Goldman’s Tim O’Neill, who heads the bank’s asset management business, introduced Clinton by saying how courageous she was for speaking at the bank. (Brave, perhaps, but also well-compensated: Clinton’s minimum fee for paid remarks is $200,000).

Certainly, Clinton offered the money men—and, yes, they are mostly men—at Goldman’s HQ a bit of a morale boost. “It was like, ‘Here’s someone who doesn’t want to vilify us but wants to get business back in the game,’” said an attendee. “Like, maybe here’s someone who can lead us out of the wilderness.”

Then the article at Politico goes on to bash Hillary for past ‘sins’ etc.

  58. If they think Big insurance is going to pay bills that are claimed in retrospect, they have another think coming.

No insurance can ever take effect retrospect, it leaves itself open to lawsuits from others…insurance can only ever take effect from the day and hour it is paid for and the effect date must be stated on the policy.

Are pigs flying……..yes i broke my leg, please pay me and i will pay the premium tomorrow. Like hell that is ever going to happen.

  59. God help us all if Russia exports it views out onto the world……….they really are not a nice bunch.

A leading Russian actor says that he endorses a rerun of the Holocaust for gay people on behalf of his children, the latest outburst marking a rising tide of homophobia in the country.

“I’d burn them all alive in ovens,” Ivan Okhlobystin, the star of a Russian copy of “Scrubs,” told fans in the city of Novosibirsk on Sunday, local website NGS.Novosti reported. “It’s Sodom and Gomorrah, as a religious person I can’t be indifferent to it, it’s a living threat to my children,” Okhlobystin said.

A father of six, Okhlobystin was an Orthodox priest until the church defrocked him in 2010 for pursuing an acting career and briefly ran for president in 2011 on behalf of the Kremlin-controlled pseudo-opposition party Right Cause, which subsequently collapsed. Okhlobystin also said that he beat his children because “kids are wild animals — on some level they don’t understand a damn thing.

“I don’t want my children to think that being a [faggot] is okay,” Okhlobystin said. “It’s queer fascism! If a person can’t choose someone similar from the opposite sex for reproduction, it’s a clear sign of a psychic anomaly, it means they need to be deprived of the vote,” he continued.

Okhlobystin’s remarks met wild applause from fans of the show, whom NGS.Novosti described as “housewives and tough dudes working blue-collar jobs, craving spirituality.” He did not clarify whether gay people should be removed from electoral rolls before or after they were burned alive, but said that Moscow journalists should join gay people in the ovens for doing their work badly.

After his remarks caused an uproar online, Okhlobystin tweeted that “sodomites” were threatening to kill him and wrote that “there are only two ways for a person to relate to sodomites — acceptance and rejection. Taking into account the aggression with which sodomites dictate their will to the world, there cannot be a ‘third way.’”

“Plus,” he added, “the existence of official sodomite organizations in all their forms — from homosexualists to pedophiles — is a direct offense of religious people’s beliefs and thus should be punished by the law.” Russia passed a law introducing criminal penalties for offending religious believers last year.

State-run news agency RIA Novosti described Okhlobystin’s show, “Interns,” as a direct copy of the U.S. hospital-set sitcom “Scrubs,” though its creators insist it is an original piece of work. The agency’s English-language website pointed out that Dmitry Kiselyov, a frothy pro-Kremlin TV host recently appointed as boss of a new agency set to replace it next year, “called in 2012 to ‘burn or bury the hearts of gays’ that die in car crashes,” but did stop short of promoting actually burning gay people alive.”

Russian LGBT people have faced an increasingly intimidating atmosphere since last year, when parliament began discussing a bill that bans “promoting non-traditional relations to minors” and essentially deems gay people second-class citizens. President Vladimir Putin signed the bill into law in June and defended it vigorously at his state of the union address Thursday. Activists say the law has caused a vicious upswing in homophobic violence and intimidation.

Beginning to think there is kind of a pattern here with Russia………not going to set foot in that country, lovely place but seemingly filled with ignorant, nasty throwbacks to the dark ages.

  60. Hillary wins them over…….

Clinton’s remarks were hardly a sweeping absolution for the sins of Wall Street, whose leaders she courted assiduously for financial support over a decade, as a senator and a presidential candidate in 2008. But they did register as a repudiation of some of the angry anti-Wall Street rhetoric emanating from liberals rallying behind the likes of Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). And perhaps even more than that, Clinton’s presence offered a glimpse to a future in which Wall Street might repair its frayed political relationships.

At both ends of the political spectrum, the titans of American finance today find themselves alienated from politics to a surprising degree. On the left, the rift has been precipitated by populist outrage and a damaged, difficult relationship with the White House. The discord and disappointment has simmered for years and is now boiling toward the surface on both sides, particularly for donors who felt burned and spurned by a White House they helped to elect. To understand just how far apart the president and the barons of Wall Street have drifted, consider that as a young senator in his first run for the presidency, Barack Obama took in $16 million from Wall Street donors, while last year, as the incumbent president, he was able to muster only $6 million.

  61. Epic failure of security…..Mandela interpreter has previous charges of theft, rape and murder against him

The South African government has said it is investigating reports that the man acting as a sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela’s memorial had previously faced a charge of murder.

Thamsanqa Jantjie, 34, said he was suffering from an episode of schizophrenia when he began hallucinating and signing “nonsense” during the four-hour ceremony.

His performance, which was condemned by the deaf community, attracted the attention of the world’s media.

“Investigator Mike Zullo related to Gallups, “Sheriff Arpaio and I first want to express our deepest condolences to Ms. Fuddy’s family, and her friends, and to the people of Hawaii. We are aware that there are numerous Internet speculations of possible foul play in this situation. It appears to us, at this time, that the plane crash was simply a tragic and unfortunate accident.”

Zullo went on to emphasize, “I can tell you this, though; our investigation into the Obama fraud case does not hinge on Ms. Fuddy. While her death certainly is a tragedy, it in no way hampers our investigation in this matter. If people truly believe that her untimely demise was somehow related to an attempt to silence her for ‘what she may or may not know,’ then there are several more people in Hawaii who should be very, very concerned. Again, I want to emphasize, Sheriff Arpaio and I do not, at this time, believe her death was connected to any nefarious circumstances.””

  63. Obama State Department ORDERED Benghazi Security Company to Dodge Media

Days after terrorists attacked the U.S. mission in Benghazi, a State Department official ordered an executive at the security company charged with protecting the special compound not to respond to media inquiries, according to documents obtained by Judicial Watch.

The order was delivered via electronic mail and it’s part of a new batch of State Department documents obtained by JW in an ongoing investigation of the September 11, 2012 Benghazi attack and subsequent cover-up by the Obama administration. Islamic jihadists raided the U.S. Special Mission Compound in Benghazi, Libya and murdered Ambassador Christopher Stevensthe first diplomat to be killed overseas in decadesand three other Americans.

The Obama administration has worked hard to keep details of the attackand the negligence that led to itfrom the American public, but JW has gone to court and filed a number of public records requests to expose the truth. JW has also published two in-depth special reports on Benghazi, the last one on the first anniversary of the terrorist attack. Read the special reports here and here.

The latest batch of documents obtained by JW include a scandalous email from a State Department contracting officer named Jan Visintainer to an unidentified executive at Blue Mountain Group (BMG), the inexperienced foreign company hired to protect the U.S. mission in Benghazi. In the email, dated September 26, 2012, Visintainer writes: “Thank you so much for informing us about the media inquiries. We notified our public affairs personnel that they too may receive some questions. We concur with you that at the moment the best way to deal with the inquiries is to either be silent or provide no comments.”

  64. The Dems are trying to make “The Governor” squirm.

Gov. Christie announces another top Port Authority official has resigned after GWB flap
Gov. Chris Christie today announced Bill Baroni, the deputy executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, has resigned, effective immediately.
The announcement comes as the scandal over the closure of lanes to the George Washington Bridge has reached a national level. Baroni has said lanes were closed for a traffic study, but Democrats believe the move was retribution against the Fort Lee mayor for his failure to endorse Christie for governor.
The governor said Deborah Gramiccioni will be taking over for Baroni.
“This was nothing that I hadn’t planned already,” Christie said of the replacement of Baroni.
“The fact is that Senator Baroni said when he testified that a mistake was made. They believe that the study needed to be done but they didn’t do it correctly within the protocols of the Port Authority,” Christie said. Christie today flat out denied any involvement in the politics surrounding the closures.

Amazing that Hillary is the one they all want to hang from the highest tree, about Benghazi.

Amazing that somehow the Sec. of State, all of a sudden had so much flucking power. The military, the WhiteHouse could just hide behind her apron and GOP and Kooks think SHE is the blame.

Did Hillary know more than she has said publicly, who knows, but anything to take her down in 2016 will be made out to be the crisis of the century.

I’m actually sick of the finger pointing. Will Hillary have to address this next year, I am pretty sure she will.

I think the American People are more upset about having this racist America hating president than having a bogus interpreter at the Mandela funeral. You might say birds of a feather flock together. And if we want to calibrate the outrage we feel accurately and objectively then the criterion should be how much damage the bogus interpreter did to the world compared to the bogus president. All the bogus interpreter did was spoil a staged scene to which I say big fucking deal, not worthy of getting “very upset about”. On the other hand the bogus president has bankrupted the nation, destroyed our foreign policy, torn up our constitution, and that is what we know. What other sins may reside in the black hole of his presidency remains to be seen. As the poet Robert Burns told the barnyard mouse:

Still thou art still blessed compared to me,

    The present only toucheth thee,

But ouch I backward cast me eye on prospects drear

And forward thought I cannot see

    I guess and fear

I’m in total agreement with you on this. It’s a constant, never-ending attempt to put her out of the running. The Republicans are terrified of her and the level of support she has. The Latte libs are going after her because she recognizes that their Utopian ideals are not rooted in reality.

  70. A meeting with obama in the WH. Something about this man makes me nervous.

Bill de Blasio Walks Away From White House Meeting With Sweeping National Hopes

WASHINGTON Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio went down to Washington, D.C. today to meet with President Barack Obama, emerging emboldened that a “progressive movement” was sweeping the nation.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, which includuded 15 other newly-elected mayors, Mr. de Blasio said it was clear to him that the fight against inequality–which formed the centerpiece of his campaign–was gaining steam far beyond the five boroughs.

“You can’t have a room full of mayors–literally every corner of the country–all spontaneously saying to the president of the United States the same exact things from their own experience: Something’s going on here … So what we have to do is organize it and amplify it,” he told Politicker.

“It was very interesting: a lot of them talked about pre-K, a lot of them talked about early childhood education as one of the breakthrough things we have to do to change the dynamics, a lot of them talked about their growing poverty levels and how it was undermining the future of their cities. So I think there was a really organic unity among all of us of the fact that this is the issue of our times. Fighting inequality is the mission of our times,” he said.

The meeting, organized by the White House, had been called “discuss the ways in which the Obama Administration can serve as an active partner on job creation and ensuring middle class families have a pathway to opportunity.” Speaking in the Roosevelt Room, Mr. Obama said he hoped to partner with the city leaders to help them achieve their goals.

Mega Millions jackpot climbs as nobody wins $425M

With the Friday the 13th drawing failing to produce any winner lucky enough to claim the fifth-biggest jackpot ever, officials raised the amount to $550 million for Tuesday’s drawing. That now ranks as the fourth-biggest.

Paula Otto, the Virginia Lottery’s executive director and Mega Millions’ lead director, told The Associated Press early Saturday that she expects the amount to rise even higher before the drawing. It could approach or surpass the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever claimed, $656 million in March 2012. Had someone won Friday, it would have been that game’s second-highest prize.

“We’ve never had a jackpot at this level in December leading into the holidays,” Otto said. “If we keep rolling, we could well be at a billion dollars going into Christmas.”

Newtown is planning to mark one year since a school shooting massacre with private memorial services and the ringing of bells for the victims

  73. Newtown Anniversary Party to Be a Success. December 12th 20135:45 am
The Obama campaign’s political arm is turning Saturday’s one-year anniversary of the Sandy Hook massacre into a fundraising opportunity. Is nothing above politics for the president? The families of the Sandy Hook victims and Newtown residents have been clear about how they would like the one-year anniversary of the massacre to be observed. “The community is choosing to remember and honor those who lost their lives in the Sandy Hook tragedy in ways that are quiet, personal and respectful—centered on themes of kindness, love and service to others,” said Newtown’s first selectman in a statement.
The White House has announced that the president and first lady will observe a moment of silence Saturday at the White House in memory of the victims. That seems entirely appropriate and in keeping with the wishes of those most affected.
But in fairly stark contrast to the president, the political arm of the Obama campaign, Organizing for Action, has turned the occasion into a political recruitment and fundraising opportunity. Two weeks before the anniversary, OFA sent a mass emailing to supporters asking them to host home parties and events on the date of the massacre. “If you’d like to host a Newtown anniversary event, all you have to do is sign up here to get started,” read the email. “And we’ll be in touch soon with more information.”
The email directed supporters to a Newtown Anniversary page at the OFA site. To proceed, OFA requires supporters to register with their name, email, mailing address, and phone number. Or they can register through a Facebook account. If they do, they receive this notice: “Organizing for Action will receive the following: your public profile, friend list, email address, news feed, birthday, current city, photos and likes and your friends’ birthdays, current cities, photos and likes.”
That is straight Internet marketing. It happens every day in today’s commercial and social media world. But to use the “hook” of the Newtown massacre to drive marketing is somewhere between distasteful and indecent.
If supporters register and commit to hosting an event for OFA, they promise to send the “tools and information to make your event on December 14 a success.” A success? What makes a “successful” anniversary of a mass murder? Apparently it’s not quiet remembrance, time with the family, perhaps prayer—whatever it is that makes us each of us think about those children and what is important in life. No, “success” will be measured by how useful it is at growing OFA.
Is this an isolated event for OFA and the Obama political machine? Hardly. For them, every moment seems to be political—and an opportunity for recruitment, mobilization, and fundraising. Snip

  74. It’s black Thursday for Martha Stewart staffers. 12/12/13.
The layoffs [≈ 100], coming only a week an a half before Christmas, unnerved employees, many of whom left in tears, carrying their belongings in Martha Stewart bags.
The layoffs were the first moves unveiled by former scrap metal executive Daniel Dienst, a former MSO board member who was hired as the new CEO in October.
Dienst is a media outsider, and based on his experience trying to salvage rust belt companies in the metals industry, many expected radical retrenchments. Those predictions came to fruition on Thursday.
Stewart seemed content to follow his advice. She spent last week in Miami at Art Basel, the winter playground of the beautiful people, where dozens of private jets landed to party and peruse the international art market.
The cutbacks are estimated to save the company about $10 million next year. Snip

Intelligence reveals documents on the case against the Obama Regime and its secret collaboration with Mohamed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood

Off Service Magazine has just published classified documents from the black box of the late former Intelligence Chief Omar Suleiman written by Dr. Hisham Mahmoud Youness in Arabic. The documents contained terrifying and shocking secrets about events which took place since Barack Hussein Obama’s visit to Egypt on 4/6/2009. Mubarak understood that the purpose of this visit was to send a message to the Mubarak regime that it was time to leave, and this was the start of the removal scenario.

The badmouthing of Hillary over Benghazi and other affairs continues. This is being driven by Reince Preibus. Upside: Mediamatters is exhibiting some blowback at:

    Some quotes from the article:

Schoen’s reference to Benghazi points to the dishonesty of his argument. While conservatives have spent the last year exploiting the terrorist attacks to smear Clinton, no evidence has emerged to suggest that the Secretary of State was at fault….

As she prepared to step down from office in January, journalists and experts detailed her legacy, which included: opening up Myanmar by becoming the first secretary of state in 50 years to make an official visit to the nation; negotiating a cease-fire between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas in late 2012, which many credit for averting an all-out war; overseeing the negotiation of the new START nuclear arms accord with Russia; building an international consensus to remove Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi from power; and tightening sanctions on Iran to their highest level ever.

National Journal’s Michael Hirsch observed that “Because of her worldwide popularity and tireless travel — she set a new record for a secretary of state by visiting 112 countries – Clinton helped undo the damage that the habitual unilateralism of the George W. Bush administration had done to the global image of the United States.” He further wrote:

Indeed, her most lasting legacy will likely be the way that she thrust soft diplomacy to the forefront of U.S. foreign policy. By speaking out about Internet freedom, women’s rights, public health, and economic issues everywhere she went, Clinton sought to transcend traditional government-to-government contacts. She set out to create — or at least dramatically expand in scope — a new kind of people-to-people diplomacy, one designed to extend Washington’s influence in an Internet-driven world in which popular uprisings, such as the Arab Spring, could quickly uproot the traditional relationships between governments.

    In China,

    Chinese spacecraft lands on moon

First soft landing since 1976 puts China alongside US and former Soviet Union in accomplishing such a feat.

A Chinese spacecraft has landed on the moon in the first “soft landing” since 1976.

The event, broadcast live on Chinese TV, means the country has joined the US and the former Soviet Union in managing to accomplish such a feat.

The Chang’e 3, named after a lunar goddess in traditional Chinese mythology, is carrying the solar-powered Yutu, or Jade Rabbit rover, which will dig and conduct geological surveys. The mission is expected to last three months.

At 9:14 pm local time (1314 GMT), the official Xinhua news service reported that the spacecraft had touched down in the Sinus Iridum, or the Bay of Rainbows, at 9:12 p.m. after hovering over the surface for several minutes seeking an appropriate place to land.

A soft landing does not damage the craft and the equipment it carries. In 2007, China put another lunar probe in orbit around the moon, which then executed a controlled crash on to its surface.

The rover will be manipulated by Chinese control centres with support from a network of tracking and transmission stations operated by the European Space Agency.

In China’s most recent manned space mission in June, three astronauts spent 15 days in orbit and docked with an experimental space laboratory, part of Beijing’s quest to build a working space station by 2020.

  78. I listened to the Jeff Sessions interview yesterday. I don’t care for mark Levin for a number of reasons not relevant here, but the interview about the Ryan – Murray Bill, was of interest.

Sessions said that if the Ryan Bill passed, it would prevent the Senators from using 60 vote rule specified in the Budget Control Act to prevent spending that exceeded the limits allowed under this act. As the article states, with a minimum of 60 votes against a spending proposal that exceeds the limit, the proposal can be blocked. Sessions said that this year, the Pubs had used the 60 vote provision to block three spending proposals that exceeded the dollar amount allowed under the BCA.

Since this 60 vote rule is only used by the Senate, Sessions indicated that the House members involved with the Ryan-Murray bill probably didn’t know that the rule existed. The problem, in Sessions’ view, was that the House didn’t send any info regarding the bill to the budget committee in the senate, nor did they ask for any input. The result is that if the Ryan-Murray Bill passes, the 60 vote rule will no longer apply.

Just wondering what thoughts were about this. I’m no wiz when it comes to economics and financial fine points – just interest in another view point.

    Article from Brietbart News:

by TONY LEE 13 Dec 2013 78 POST A COMMENT

On Friday, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) said House Republicans voted for a budget bill that made it easier for Senate Democrats to increase spending because they did not know the significance of a rule change, inserted into the bill, that allowed it.

Appearing on Mark Levin’s radio show, Sessions, the ranking member on the Budget Committee, said he was “disappointed” that Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) did not inform him or his staff of the rule change while they were brokering the deal. Sessions said that if they had known about the change, they could have informed the House GOP and helped them push back against it.
“I don’t think Republicans in the House understood the significance of it,” Sessions said. “It’s a rule that would only impact the Senate.”

Sessions was referring to a “point of order” rule that requires 60 votes when a bill proposes spending beyond what is allowed by the Budget Control Act — even when it is offset by taxes or fees. Sessions said he has used that point of order three times already to block Democrats “from spending more and taxing more.” Under the deal brokered by Ryan and Murray, only a simple majority would be needed.

And Sessions said this loophole may, in the future, allow for spending increases larger than the ones he has already blocked.

Sessions, who plans to vote against the budget deal, said there is “no question about” the fact that the ability to reduce spending has been “eroded in this legislation.”

“I wish this hadn’t happened,” Sessions said. “It’s a pretty significant deal.”
The House passed the deal, criticized by conservatives for increasing taxes, on Thursday, and the Senate will take up the measure next week.

  79. In Syria,

    The Syrian Game-Changer

Why the shocking rise of al Qaeda is scrambling the war, ripping up the playbook, and turning enemies into partners.

    From article {Emphasis mine}

The regime’s growing strength gives its chief backers, Russia and Iran, no reason to push for concessions. The Sunni states who support the rebels, chiefly Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey, are deeply unhappy with the current state of affairs, but unable or unwilling to do anything likely to tip the current balance of forces. And the United States, too, seems quite content to live with the status quo. Just take a look at President Barack Obama’s speech last week at Brookings. Obama barely bothered to mention Syria, and he did so only to express satisfaction at the progress of the effort to remove chemical weapons. This is, of course, an unambiguously good thing, but it was never even among the administration’s objectives in Syria before the Russians seized on the issue as a means to forestall an America attack.

The current and former senior Administration officials who spoke this week at an FP conference — Deputy National Security Advisor Antony Blinken, former National Security Advisor Tom Donilon, Secretary of State John Kerry — all described the weapons deal as a fundamental diplomatic breakthrough. Yet none explained how a transaction requiring the cooperation of the Assad regime could ultimately lead to the weakening of the regime — for the simple reason that it can’t. I don’t doubt that White House officials are agonized over the suffering in Syria, but they are also prisoners of their past decisions.

What’s more, the White House strategy of building up moderate rebel groups so that the Syrian regime will have no choice but to reach a deal with them has now become hopelessly threadbare. Those groups, enfeebled both by infighting and by the absence of consistent support, were unable to defend their own storehouse of American-donated non-lethal goods against an attack by the rival Islamist Front earlier this week. The United States responded by cutting off non-lethal aid, thus deepening the group’s marginalization. The administration had hoped that at the planned meeting of Geneva II next month, the rebels could present an inclusive slate of Syrian leaders as an alternative to the Assad clan. That scenario, never plausible, now looks less likely than the splintering of rebel forces and the disintegration of their very shaky leadership.

So basically, the WH is trapped by their past bad decisions, made solely for political expediency, only to continue to make bad decisions that they feel will be made better by a speech here and there. And then, instead of using this conflict as a means to reshape the region, their efforts are driving the region even further into the hands of the Russians and the Iranians. How this foreign policy team felt that a group of rebel leaders under siege in their homeland from Syrian forces, handcuffed by a lack of weaponry and defensive capabilities and struggling to keep their heads above water would be able to convene in Geneva with a vision of a post-Assad future is beyond my comprehension.

Then again, what else would you expect from bumbles?

    HHS: 15K reports missing

The Obama administration says it has reduced the error rate for the transmission of health insurance enrollment records to less than 1 percent, although the number of missing reports for consumers reached close to 15,000.

In an update posted on its website Saturday, the Department of Health and Human Services reported significant improvements to “back end” problems with the federal insurance exchange after insurers complained that they had not received enrollment records for consumers who purchased coverage through the website.

Julie Bataille, spokeswoman for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), wrote in a blog post that between Oct. 1 and Dec. 5, the number of missing records – known as 834s – “was fewer than 15,000.”

During a two-week period in October, at the height of the website malfunctioning, the error rate for enrollment record transmission topped 15 percent. But in the beginning of this month, the error rate had plummeted to near zero, Bataille reported.

“These significant improvements are due to the technical fixes put in place by the end of November,” she wrote.

Consumers have generally reported a much improved experience shopping on the federal exchange since the administration-imposed deadline of Nov. 30 for improving the broken website. Enrollments have reportedly surged in December, but insurers have continued to voice concerns about missing or erroneous enrollment reports, which could wreak havoc in January when consumers try to use the insurance they have purchased.

“To make sure that no consumer falls through the cracks because of earlier pervasive troubles with the site, we are contacting every consumer who has selected a plan through the Federal Marketplace to remind them to pay their premium and connect with their insurer,” Bataille wrote. “We continue to work with health plans Exit Disclaimer Icon undertaking a very focused process to verify 834 information. We are double and triple checking all enrollment data across systems.”

The department had announced that as many as 30,000 applications might need to be refiled, and they are anticipating a flood of visits to the website in the final weeks of the years as consumers try to sign up for coverage beginning Jan. 1.

“This thorough process will continue as we move forward,” Bataille wrote, “so that as open enrollment continues we are able to process back end financial information as needed between CMS and issuers, so that consumers who have selected affordable health plans from the Marketplace and paid their premium to that plan, are able to access the coverage they want and need.”

  83. Has every single loon gunman been a Democrat…….

Arapahoe High Gunman: Republicans Are the Party of ‘Let ’em Die’

Early news reports have identified the Arapahoe High School gunman as Karl Halverson Pierson, an 18-year-old student. Pierson is believed to be responsible for wounding one other student before shooting and killing himself with a shotgun. The Denver Post reports that Pierson had “very strong political beliefs” and that one Facebook post he authored tore into Republicans as the political party that wanted to let people die:

“[Y]ou republicans are so cute” his post reads, with an image that says: “The Republican Party: Health Care: Let ’em Die, Climate Change: Let ’em Die, Gun Violence: Let ’em Die, Women’s Rights: Let ’em Die, More War: Let ’em Die. Is this really the side you want to be on?”

Pierson also described himself in a Facebook post as “Keynesian” when it came to economic thinking, and criticized free market thinkers:

In one Facebook post, Pierson attacks the philosophies of economist Adam Smith, who through his invisible-hand theory pushed the notion that the free market was self-regulating. In another post, he describes himself as “Keynesian.”

Pierson’s classmates described the suspected gunman’s political beliefs as “outside the mainstream,” and Pierson as “an outspoken kid about what he believed and a good political thinker.” Another classmate said Pierson held “very strong beliefs about gun laws.”

The Los Angeles Times quotes friends who described Pierson as an advocate for gun rights. In its lengthy report, The Los Angeles Times does not, however, include the information about the Facebook posts wherein Pierson describes himself as Keynesian or mocks Republicans as wanting people to die.

Apparently, Pierson was picked on in school but also “had a multitude of friends.” Right now it is believed the shooting was motivated by a confrontation with a teacher, a debate coach who kicked Pierson off the debate team. The Los Angeles Times says “Pierson was kicked off the team and suspended from school in September for a few weeks after threatening the coach.”

For an American mainstream media always eager to exploit tragedy for political gain, yesterday’s horrific shooting will not give them much to work with. The gunman’s politics have little in common with the Tea Party, and the state where the shooting took place, Colorado, passed almost all of the media’s gun control wish-list about six months ago.

More bad news for the media came in the gunman’s weapon of choice: a shotgun, which is also Vice President Joe Biden’s weapon of choice.

As we have seen time and again, the length of the media’s fascination with this kind of tragedy is directly connected to how much the media are able to exploit the event for political gain. As of right now, because there is nothing to mine for political gain, it looks as though the media will have forgotten all about this shooting by Tuesday or Wednesday.

  84. What Will It Take?
Americans still seem willing to give a pass to the disaster in the White House.

Let me begin with a categorical statement that, given current events and recent political history, can be easily defended: Barack Hussein Obama is a willful, indoctrinated child of the Left with strong Islamic sympathies who is not fit to govern. Indeed, he would not be fit to govern Lower Slobovia, let alone the United States of America. Obama is a historic disaster of the first magnitude and, if not restrained, he will see to the irrevocable decline of the country which foolishly elected him, leaving the world on the brink of a conflict or in the midst of one whose repercussions cannot be underestimated.

Accompanying the undeniable havoc and damage that Obama is wreaking on his country and equally on its allies Honduras, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Poland, Czech Republic, Israel, and possibly Taiwan is the sense of helplessness that overcomes one when writing or speaking about a rogue president and his destructive administration. I feel this personally, having done my utmost in books, articles and lectures, from 2008 to the present, to warn whomever might read or listen that Obama represented a greater threat to the U.S. and the oddly named “free world” than any of our most dedicated and belligerent enemies. Even prior to his nomination as the Democratic candidate for the presidency, my distrust of this man was proprioceptive. And after his Missouri address, I wondered why anyone would want to “fundamentally transform” a country which, for all its flaws, perched atop the pinnacle of success in comparison to any other country.

In a game-changer for the legal fight over same-sex marriage that gives credence to opponents’ “slippery slope” arguments, a federal judge has now ruled that the legal reasoning for same-sex marriage means that laws against polygamy are likewise unconstitutional.
In his 91-page opinion in Brown v. Buhman, on Dec. 13, U.S. District Judge Clark Waddoups struck down Utah’s law making polygamy a crime. In so doing, he may have opened Pandora’s Box.

    Obamacare’s biggest losers

After three months and more than 50 phone calls, John Gisler gave up on buying coverage through
Gisler wanted to purchase a plan for his 45-year-old son, who has a rare degenerative condition affecting his coordination and speech. His current coverage through Utah’s high-risk insurance pool plan ends Dec. 31. By that time, the Obama administration expects enrollees to transition into health plans sold through the new health-care law.
But so far, Gisler hasn’t succeeded in purchasing coverage — but not for a lack of effort.
“We’ve had three separate applications that failed to make it through,” Gisler says. “I have a notebook with all the calls I’ve made, maybe 50 or 100. It just goes on and on.” snip

  88. New York’s Cultural Elite Blindsided By ObamaCare

If there is at least one benefit of ObamaCare it is watching those who supported nationalizing the purchase of mandated health insurance get their comeuppance. The New York Times reports that “many in New York’s professional and cultural elite” who supported Obama and ObamaCare, and carved themselves out a sweet little health insurance pool “to avoid the sky-high rates in New York’s individual insurance market,” are now out in the cold with the rest of us:

[U]nder the Affordable Care Act, they will be treated as individuals, responsible for their own insurance policies. For many of them, that is likely to mean they will no longer have access to a wide network of doctors and a range of plans tailored to their needs. And many of them are finding that if they want to keep their premiums from rising, they will have to accept higher deductible and co-pay costs or inferior coverage.

The anguish these elite Obama supporters are going through is no different than those 5.9 million in the real world victimized by insurance cancelations: Stress, sleepless nights, financial burden, and the loss of familiar doctors and hospitals. “We are Obama’s people,” said one author. Today her insurance has been canceled and her doctors are not available through the exchanges. And she is not alone. Take Barbara Meinwald, a solo practitioner lawyer in Manhattan. “I couldn’t sleep because of it,” she said.

Reports of erroneous WA health exchange debits

by ELISA HAHN / KING 5 News

Posted on December 10, 2013 at 8:28 AM

For the second week in a row, the Washington Healthplanfinder website is down, and it’s causing problems for people who are dealing with billing issues. Some of them say the website is mistakenly debiting their accounts.

Shannon Bruner of Indianola logged on to her checking account Monday morning, and found she was almost 800 dollars in the negative.

“The first thing I thought was, ‘I got screwed,’” she said.

The Bruners enrolled for insurance on the Washington Healthplanfinder website, last October. They say they selected the bill pay date to be December 24th. Instead the Washington Healthplanfinder drafted the 835 dollar premium Monday.

Josh Bruner started his own business this year as an engineering recruiter. They said it’s forced them to pay a lot of attention to their bills and their bank accounts.

“Big knot in my gut because we’re trying to keep it together,” said Shannon Bruner. “It’s important to me that this kind of stuff doesn’t happen.”

    They’re not alone.

One viewer emailed KING 5 saying, “They drafted my account this morning for a second time.”

Another woman on Facebook with a similar problem commented, “We are all in the same boat.”

“We’ve got to figure out how to get money to pay the bills for the next week or two until we have another check come through,” said Josh Bruner. “It’s just crazy.”

Washington Healthplanfinder emailed the Bruners a few days ago telling them to log in to view their invoice, something they couldn’t do because the website has been down. The Bruners haven’t been able to get through on the helpline either. They finally contacted Healthplanfinder administrators by posting a message on their Facebook page.

Washington Healthplanfinder tells KING 5 their staff is looking into the problem.

Until it’s resolved, the couple is putting their best face forward.

“We haven’t bought anyone’s Christmas gifts yet,” said Shannon Bruner. “We’re just kind of waiting.”

“We wrote a check to our nanny last week, it isn’t going to work,” said Josh Bruner. “So she can’t get paid.”

An attack by Islamist rebels has left at least 10 people dead over the past two days in the Syrian town of Adra, activists and eyewitnesses say.

Most of the victims were from minority sects, reports said.

State media said on Friday that the army had launched a “broad offensive” in the direction of Adra.

Adra and the surrounding area have been the scene of heavy fighting between government and rebels in recent days.

Adra, around 21km (13 miles) from Damascus, is a religiously mixed town and reports say many of the civilians killed were from the same Alawite minority as President Bashar al-Assad, as well as some belonging to the Druze community.

At least one pro-regime fighter was also killed in the clashes.

One woman in Adra told Reuters armed men from the Islamic Front and al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front brigades entered her family’s house on Thursday and took her son.

The militants said her son would be returned, but he was still missing on Thursday afternoon, she said.

  94. Leanora – good shot about Obama and a legacy!
This would make a lovely news filler over this weekend … if only it were about someone other than Cruz:
Coloring book featuring Ted Cruz selling fast
    Posted: Dec 12, 2013 10:04 AM PST Updated: Dec 14, 2013 1:55 PM PST
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) – He’s known for coloring outside the lines in the staid U.S. Senate. Now children large and small can color in U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz.
Just in time for the holidays, St. Louis publisher Really Big Coloring Books Inc. is offering a coloring and activity book featuring the Texas tea party darling.
Company founder Wayne Bell said Thursday the book is already in its third printing after just six days. The first run of around 10,000 sold out in barely 24 hours, and the second went nearly as fast.
“At this point, I would almost call it a phenomenon,” Bell said. “It’s beyond us. We’re just trying to catch up with the printing.”
“U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz to the Future” is intended for “all ages.” Cruz did not cooperate in its production.
The cover features the beaming senator pointing at a flourishing tea plant whose stalks are stenciled with “Ten Commandments” and “U.S. Constitution.” It has leaves that include “Gun rights,” ”Free Enterprise,” and “Lower Taxes.”
At the top is a leaf reading “White House,” and the plant is growing on a lawn and root system that spell out “Grass Roots,” a reference to Cruz’s wild popularity with conservative activist groups.
Bell said his company has received some offensive and even threatening calls since the book’s debut. It also produced a top-selling 2008 coloring book on President Barack Obama’s inauguration, though a second edition produced in 2012 flopped.
The company also offers an Occupy Wall Street coloring booking and a free online coloring page on October’s partial government shutdown.
Bell said a non-political title, “The Big Book of Dinosaurs,” was traditionally the company’s most-popular book, with more than 1 million copies sold. But he said the 2008 Obama book outsold it, and that a more-recent title, the “Tea Party Coloring Book for Kids” broke even that record.

  95. Some in the Obama WH are not happy with the recent changes. Dem senators claim they prevailed upon Barack to make some staff changes. They say “shake-up was long overdue.” The changes, particularly the appointment of legislative aid to Chuck – I’m a 2 faced liar – Schumer, have caused speculation that Dem senators will have more power in 2014 over the legislative agenda.

I guess they figure they had better make hay while the sun shines, After the 2014 elections, Dem Senators may be fewer than hens teeth.

My staff could not work as everyone understandably was nervous. We ended up passing out holiday cookies, gifts for the coming week, played music and I watched as the females did the electric slide, and finally at around 6:30 got ok to leave. Very desperate times and I think edpecially around holidays you really have to be careful.

That “sign language guy” just won’t go away.

The South African deaf interpreter who signed what amounted to gibberish during Nelson Mandela’s memorial service last week was spoofed in the opening skit on the latest “Saturday Nigh Live”, by actors portraying both him and President Obama.

Ersatz signer Thamsanqa Jantjie “clearly had no idea what he was doing,” Obama, played by cast member Jay Pharaoh, said in the spoof presidential address — only to be joined at the podium moments later by a grinning and gesticulating Kenan Thompson.

“We have our best people working on it,” “Obama” insisted of the Obamacare website woes, as Thompson used both hands to trace the silhouette of a curvaceous woman and then flashed two thumbs up.

Pharaoh soon summoned a pair of fake Secret Service agents to drag the fake signer away.

The real Jantjie has enjoyed a several-day press run, with his Johannesburg performance drawing the ire of deaf groups and later revelations surfacing that he is under investigation for crashing the memorial and had previously been probed for murder.

SNL also spoofed Obama’s embarassing “selfie” last week with the prime ministers of Denmark and Britain, having Pharaoh pose for a snap with Kate McKinnon, who portrayed German Prime Minister Angela Merkel begging for her own cellphone snap with the president.

“I think you owe me one after the wiretapping mein cellphone thing,” she insists, before promising, “I won’t gutentag that on Fratbook.”

  99. New York’s Cultural Elite Blindsided By ObamaCare

Blind sided? What, did they read and believe their own New York Fucking Times?

I hope all these ‘elites’ suffer greatly at the hands of their own stupidity. I hope their businesses suffer and they pay dearly for for the destruction they have brought on our country.

‘Elite’ is the new word for crooks, hopium liars and greedy non-patriots.

  100. ‘selfie’

I absolutely hate this new term.

It’s a way of trying to coin a phrase that makes the meaning seem cute.

  101. jbstonesfan

I’m glad to hear you and staff are safe and you turned a frightening experience into a min-holiday party.

That is the most positive story you have ever told, as long as I can remember.

    Happy Holiday.

  102. I must be getting old, i used to think a “selfie” was something young men got up to when their parents were out of the house.

  103. Gordon Peterson–I was going to say something intemperate about him like he is a subhuman asshole and I would like to remove his head and shit down his neck, but the septic tank between his ears is already full to the brim and the odor makes you want to gag. Ditto with that sub human Nina Totemberg. They are cogs in that entire corrupt scheme.

I will refrain from making any disparaging remarks about them, and simply refer you to his credentials, which should leave no doubt in anyone’s mind that he is another robot who represents the Washington DC elites, and is openly hostile to the interests of the American People. These people are so corrupt that they have lost all sense of reality.

“Gordon Peterson is an American broadcast journalist and Washington, D.C.-based television news anchor. He is the 6 p.m. co-anchor for ABC affiliate WJLA-TV and is also moderator and producer of Inside Washington, a political roundtable discussion about current political events going on in Washington. He has won multiple Emmy Awards during his broadcast career.”

  104. That was a pretty good gotcha by Krauthammer however. He appears on ABC and plugs FOX. One of the reasons people laugh is because they do not quite know what to say. Totenberg. I gather that name means death rock is guilty of that.

  105. Moon–you are right about Peter O’Toole. His passing it a big loss for the theater and for movies. His dramatic performances were riveting and his comedic performances were funny to a degree that Leno Letterman and Kimmel never are, were or will ever be. I am sorry, they are not that funny. Moreover, they are assholes.

A few years ago, I posted an interview of him where he told about he and another well known mischief maker found a small Irish bar, got drunk, bought in while drunk, and had a bad hang over and a terminal case of buyers regret in the morning. The owner was a good sport about it, gave them their check back and told them not to make a habit of this sort of thing. They became good friends, and saw each other every year thereafter.

Then, there came a time when the bar owner died. O’Toole and his sidekick were deeply moved by it, got plastered, and staggered out to the cemetery to pay their last respects. There they found a crowd of people gathered around a grave and both of them fell to their knees and commenced praying with all the rest of them.

A half hour later, everyone else had gone. But O’Toole et al were still and the graveside praying for their departed friend. Whereupon the minister approached them and asked them what they were doing. When they told him that they were praying for their friend, and mentioned his name. Whereupon, the minister informed them that they man they had been praying for in their drunken stupor was at another part of the cemetery and this was not him.

Peter, Richard Harris and Richard Burton hung out and hit all the bars the same way. Many stories from that era. All great actors, and now all of them are gone.

  106. The reason why big media is losing public support is because their reporting is counter factual, counter truthful and is shaped by a political agenda which is congenial to Washington and lethal to the American People. They are the mouthpiece of the Washington establishment, and the enemy of the American People.

  107. It has been buggy me for several days who that obnoxious Mary Landieu reminds me of. Then all of a sudden I hit me. Gert Frobe?

You know, the humorless money uber alles german actor who starred in the James Bond movie Goldfinger.

He and Mary are identical twins.

And so is their love for gold, as in the Louisiana Purchase.

    Very good.

    What a grand entrance.

So grand that the big media beloved messiah would just have to top it.

    What then would he do?

Simple, he would ride on stage in a jackass

With a hope and change serape on its back

So as not to spoil the crease in his blue surge pants

But it is not fine romance, nor siree.

    Oh, why not?

Because before he could deliver one of his boiler plate speeches

Which would thrill the collective jock strap off dearly beloved big media

The equid would jump in front of Schumer as he dashed for the microphone.

And ask the zoo keeper, how do I get this jackass Obama off my back?

House Report: Ill-Trained Obamacare Navigators Encouraging Fraud, Jeopardizing Private Info

The Obama administration decided that Obamacare Navigators, tasked with helping Americans enroll in a health insurance plan, would not undergo mandatory background checks. Now, in the ten weeks since the launch of, the ill-trained Navigators have put Americans’ sensitive health and tax information at risk.

Breitbart News has obtained a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee report on the Obamacare Navigators that will be released Monday. It has found that Obamacare Navigators have been giving Americans misinformation and, in some cases, actively encouraging enrollees to commit fraud in order to raise their subsidies. To complicate matters further, there is no way for Americans to find out whether their Navigators are properly certified.

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said at a Congressional hearing that it was “possible” for convicted felons to become Navigators. The report, titled Risks of Fraud and Misinformation with ObamaCare Outreach Campaign: How Navigator and Assister Program Mismanagement Endangers Consumers, concludes that is only one of many worries Americans should have about Navigators.

The Oversight Committee, chaired by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), and HHS actually learned that “poorly-trained Navigators gave consumers incorrect information about the health care exchanges, violated HHS rules and procedures, and even encouraged applicants to commit tax fraud in some instances.” Moreover, this was learned from various news reports due to the complete lack of any internal oversight.

On November 21, the Obama administration briefed the Committee. Those in attendance included Gary Cohen, the Deputy Administrator and Director of the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO), and Mandy Cohen, Director of the Consumer Support Group at CCIIO.

The Committee report concluded that “documents call into question the effectiveness of the Navigator program and the Obama administration’s ability to safeguard consumer information.” HHS’s mismanagement of the Navigator and Assister programs “induces fraudulent behavior and poses real threats to the safety of consumers’ personally identifiable information, such as one’s social security number, yearly income, and other sensitive tax information,” the report found.

The report also discovered that Obamacare Navigators have “encouraged consumers to commit tax fraud by underreporting income in order to qualify for ObamaCare’s health insurance subsidies.” Some have “assisted applicants before completing their 5 to 20 hour online training course, and others took custody of paper applications and mailed them for the applicant, violating the rule that applicants must mail in the application themselves.”

    For instance, the Committee found:

Navigators from the Urban League of Dallas were captured on video encouraging applicants to lie on their health insurance application so the applicants could qualify for tax subsidies. Navigators were also recorded advising an applicant to lie about her smoking habits to obtain a lower monthly premium. It was later discovered that two of the so-called Navigators involved in the incident were assisting consumers with their applications even though they had not completed their training and certification requirements. (can we say SCAM)

•One self-identified Navigator gave a television interview in which she told viewers blatantly incorrect information—that applicants’ credit scores could impact their eligibility for certain plans. It later came to light that the woman was not a certified Navigator but rather a volunteer with a Navigator organization.

•Mountain Project, Inc., a Navigator organization in North Carolina, has been collecting and mailing paper applications on behalf of applicants, in violation of Navigator rules and procedures.

The report found that HHS officials responsible for the Navigator program did not learn of the aforementioned incidents from internal oversight procedures, but rather from news reports.

Yet the Obama administration still does not plan to implement a “secret shopper” program to monitor Navigators. HHS officials have put together “webinars” for Navigators, but they are voluntary and do not cover specific details.

The report also found that because the Obama administration did not warn Navigators that there could be problems with the HealthCare.Gov website, “Navigators were essentially useless” when the website crashed and had problems. To make matters worse, notes from an October 11, 2013 meeting state that the Navigators were encouraging potential enrollees to use paper applications they knew may not bring applicants quicker results “to protect their reputations as people in the communities who can help.”

The Committee found that this “push towards the use of paper applications further increases security risks, since health insurance exchange applications contain personally identifiable information such as the applicant’s full name, social security number, the names and social security numbers of everyone in the applicant’s household, and income for every member of the household.”

The report also concluded that Navigators were also unprepared to handle situations in which consumers mentioned unreported income because the Obama administration did not even anticipate such situations. Gary Cohen, the director of the agency overseeing the Navigators, previously stated, “this could be one of the areas where it is a little beyond the ability of your average Navigator,” when asked whether Navigators knew how to deal with Americans who may be engaging in tax fraud or intending to under-report income.

Though Cohen “admitted there is a need for better training on the issue through the ongoing education process” and did not rule out “requiring Navigators to report tax fraud in the future,” the Obama administration “has not taken the necessary steps to prevent this type of tax fraud.” The report found that Navigators have not even been provided with a document on how to handle potential tax fraud issues that may arise.

Navigators, the report also found, “lack guidance about how to comply with the Voting Rights Act, which requires that federal government applications provide the opportunity for applicants to indicate their interest in registering to vote.”

And though Cohen told the Committee staff that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services “[keep] a list of certified Navigators, which, as of mid-November, numbered 2,500 individuals,” the list is private, which means Americans do not have a way to know if their Navigators are actually even certified. That also allows Navigator organizations to “misrepresent the qualifications of an individual who is associated with that organization but is not a certified Navigator,” the committee found.

another racket and scheme to steal money and assests from taxpayers…and increase the cost of inferior insurance coverage that is forced upon taxpayers at the same time…when will this end? someone put a stop to this madness…

  112. NSA officials consider Edward Snowden amnesty in return for documents
    • Key official tells CBS ‘it’s worth having a conversation’
    • State Department and other key figures oppose deal
Snip An amnesty, which does not have the support of the State Department, would represent a surprising denouement to an international drama that has lasted half a year. It is particularly unexpected from a surveillance agency that has spent months insisting that Snowden’s disclosures have caused vast damage to US national security. Snip Any amnesty would have to come through the Justice Department, which did not respond to a request for comment. Snip Snowden was important. He accelerated a debate, he misshaped the debate, but … the debate was coming,” Hayden said, on NBC. Snip The 60 Minutes interview is part of an NSA initiative to rebuild its reputation through increased public engagement. This week, the sympathetic blog Lawfare will air a series of podcasted interviews with NSA leaders. Senior NSA officials have also been making appearances on college campuses to argue that their bulk surveillance activities are necessary for national security and not intrusive on Americans’ privacy.

  113. This is essentially what I have been saying. This is what RINOS do, without considering the consequences. This is the kind of arrogance which will cause them to fall short of their goal of taking the senate. Only their brilliant consultants tell them we don’t need conservatives, they are too much trouble, all we need to do is do exactly what the dims do, and argue that we are more competent. That argument will sell to the masses, because they are coming to the realization that the other party is not competent. And while we are doing that, we can attract the campaign contributions which are now going to the American People.

That is the insular thinking that prevails in that party. And they are making no secret of it. These statements by a rummy like Boehner, coupled with the war on conservative which are being launched against conservatives by Rove and his ilk will backfire. The RINO can get donations from crony capitalists, but if they alienate their base in the process then it is all for naught. I have been talking about this here for several years. Why it has taken until now for a pundit like Morris to wake up, is a mystery. When Boeher makes his amnesty move you will see it again.

House Speaker John Boehner would not be House Speaker John Boehner if it were not for the tea party and the other conservative groups he now criticizes. He says that they “lack all credibility” and accuses them of “using our members [Congressmen] and the American people for their own goals.”

Asked about the criticism leveled at the budget deal by conservative groups, he said “Are you kidding me? I don’t care what they do.”

His comments immediately drew admiring praise from Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid who said his comments were “a breath of fresh air.”

Has the world turned upside down? If it were not for these groups — the Tea Party Patriots, Heritage Action for America or others — the Republicans would have lost the elections of 2010 and he never would have been Speaker.

The grass- and cyber-roots enthusiasm of these conservative groups animate the Republican Party in the same way that groups like Occupy Wall Street and provide a shot in the arm for their party.

Without their hard work, outreach, enthusiasm and donations, the Republican Party would never have won in 2010 and won’t win in the future. And House Speaker John Boehner better realize it. If he doesn’t, perhaps his members will and will reacquaint him with reality.

Without the tea party, the Republican Party would be an inarticulate, me-too party without ideas or energy.

The Republican Party has always represented a fusion of two broad groups: those who are driven by ideology and those who grew up in geographic areas that are traditionally Republican and joined the party because it was the obvious way to enter politics.

Call them the Nixon Republicans, these folks live in suburbs or small towns and represent the equivalent of the urban big city machines that spawn and nurture Democrats.

But this party could not get elected. It would not have defeated Jimmy Carter in 1980 or elected Ronald Reagan. It would not have been the vehicle for the Gingrich Revolution of 1994, nor would it have taken the House in 2010.

It required a Reagan, a Newt Gingrich, a Ted Cruz, a Paul Ryan, a Mike Huckabee, or the like to animate it, fill it with ideas and carry it to victory.

For Boehner to cast aside these party enthusiasts and conservative workhorses is shortsighted and ungrateful in the extreme.

The tea party types are amateurs. They are small businesspeople, retired military, doctors and so forth that are professionals in their occupations but amateurs in politics. We need to be patient with their learning curve. They learned a lesson in October when the government shutdown backfired. And they won’t make that mistake again. Indeed, their basic acceptance of the Ryan-Murray deal indicates precisely that growth of perspective and maturity.

In this light, the Speaker’s comments are outrageous and cast real doubt on his ability to lead the House in the future.

  114. Justin Reedy ‏@justinsreedy 29m

@bennyjohnson Look, I get putting Sunny on notice after her bad behavior, but what did Bo do to deserve this indignity?!

  115. My view is that we have two parties in this country: the uni-party which consists of RINOS and DINOS who serve the corporate interests at the expense of the country, vs. the American People. This view, plus my own past history leads me to focus on what is occurring in the Republican Party right now, because I am convinced that will have an outcome determinative effect on the 2016 election, as well as what happens between now and then.

I have argued (to little avail) that the only answer to this dilemma is a third party, because it is impossible to clean out the swamp when you are up to your ass in alligators. Crony capitalism controls both parties, and that control is killing prosperity and security in this nation. It would be fine and well if the people who promoted this destruction of America were called to account for their treason, and to disgorge their ill gotten gains. But the likelihood of that occurring is remote.

Furthermore this is all way above the heads of the sheeple, especially those with with superior education. Their aptitude in political science is nil, but their arrogance prevents them from seeing it. All they want–all they look for in politics that is defining our future in very negative ways is bread and circuses. They are quintessential rubes.
The current dynamic in the Senate as it relates to the Ryan-Murray whip count represents the consummate opportunity for leadership from the top. Democrats have not fully secured 60 votes to pass this awful deal. If McConnell and Cornyn really felt the way we do about this bill, they would launch a counter-whip operation to convince members on the fence to vote no. Unfortunately, they have reverted to the ‘hope yes, vote no’ mode. They really want the bill to pass, but they are too scared of their primary challengers. Consequently, they are sitting back and allowing Democrats to pick off members of their conference one-by-one.

Senators Ron Johnson, Susan Collins, Jeff Flake, and Richard Burr have since announced their plans to vote for cloture over the weekend. This is what happens when there is no leadership at the top. We are letting a completely winnable vote slip away from us.

It’s quite appropriate for the Senate to end this year’s session with a vote like this. Throughout the entire year, McConnell and Cornyn have pursued a policy of hope yes vote no. Ever since Matt Bevin considered storming the caste early this year, McConnell has moved all the way to the right in his voting record. But you can count on one hand the number of times he’s whipped a vote for the Republican position. This vacuum of leadership has ostensibly granted Harry Reid a defacto supermajority.

What’s even more appalling is that McConnell is rewarding Harry Reid for blowing up the Senate with his refusal to work against the Democrat budget bill.

We will never advance conservatism through the U.S. Senate unless we elect leaders who will vote the conservative position and fight like hell for it. Hope yes/vote no is not a winning strategy

  116. I’ve been on John Boehner’s solicitation list for years. Never before today has his campaign phoned me.He was calling ‘conservatives in PA’ so there’s a statement of focus.

I dialed his 800 number to leave a message. BOOM!
So glad to have the insight of wbboei’s 12:11 comment to work with on that.

  120. OBAMA PLAN for Jerusalem Will Allow Coalition – Including Saudi Arabia and Turkey – to Oversee Holy City

Obama’s plan for Jerusalem will likely divide the city and allow Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Jordan to have a say over the Holy City.

The Obama Jerusalem plan will give a coalition that includes Muslim countries control of the holy sites in the city.
    World Net Daily reported:

Secretary of State John Kerry quietly presented a U.S. plan for eastern Jerusalem that calls for an international administrative mandate to control holy sites in the area, according to informed Palestinian and Israeli diplomatic sources.

The exact composition of the international mandate is up for discussion, the sources said, but Kerry’s plan recommended a coalition that includes the Vatican, together with a group of Muslim countries such as Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

The international arrangement is being proposed as a temporary solution for about two to three years while security arrangements in Jerusalem between Israelis and Palestinians are finalized, said the sources.

Israel, the sources said, was not receptive to the particulars of Kerry’s plan, especially the concept of Turkish participation in Jerusalem. Kerry told the Israelis he would hold talks with the Kingdom of Jordan about its playing a leading role in the proposal in the place of Turkey, the sources added.

Kerry was in Jerusalem on Friday as part of an Obama administration effort to reach a deal for a Palestinian state by April, a timeline that is still on track, Kerry told reporters.

“We are working on an approach that both guarantees Israel’s security and fully respects Palestinian sovereignty,” Kerry added.

According to the Israeli and Palestinian diplomatic sources speaking to WND, Kerry’s trip this time around focused specifically on the particulars of security arrangements for the strategic Jordan Valley following a deal.

In October, WND exclusively reported Kerry was strongly urging Israel to give up the Jordan Valley in closed-door talks with the Palestinian Authority.

The idea for the contest in Sedalia, whose population is just more than 21,000, was hatched by radio host Rob Edwards who said he hasn’t spoken to Gessling about the standings but noted the rodeo clown has shared the contest on his Facebook page.

  122. Charming…..

The bogus sign language interpreter at the Nelson Mandela memorial service was among a group of people who burned two men to death for stealing a television in 2003, say a cousin and three friends.

Millions around the world watched Thamsanqa Jantjie, 34, ‘waving his hands aimlessly’ next to Barack Obama at Tuesday’s ceremony as he pretended to interpret the U.S. president’s tribute to Mandela for deaf viewers.

Now, days after it was claimed he has faced charges for murder, rape and kidnapping, the four sources said he was part of a vigilante execution squad who placed tyres around their victims’ necks and set them ablaze – a horrific practice known as ‘necklacing’.

Unlike two other suspects who went to trial in 2006 for the killings, the four said on Monday that Jantjie never did because authorities determined he was mentally unfit.

I am afraid you’re right, but I keep hoping. After all the Washington Times has many thousands of readers and they are all – or at least most of them – going to see the ad. How can they all ignore it? Doesn’t anybody care? This is so frustrating. At times I can’t believe it’s happening.

  124. Valerie Plame lied to Congress and Chairman Henry Waxman knew it

n March 16, 2007 while testifying to the Congressional Oversight Committee, Valerie Plame lied under oath. And Chairman Henry Waxman was fully aware of the act of perjury being committed by Plame.

Long before Congressman Waxman heard sworn testimony from Valerie Plame at a House Oversight Committee hearing, Congressman Waxman was briefed by former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds.

In addition to being briefed by Edmonds.

Congressman Waxman was provided Inspector General Glenn Fine’s classified report that contained the fact that Valerie Plame’s identity as a CIA operative was exposed in 2001 when Undersecretary of State Marc Grossman was secretly recorded warning Turkish nationals to stay away from Brewster Jennings & Associates because it was a CIA front.

And as Chairman Waxman was well aware, Brewster Jennings & Associates was the CIA front that Plame claims gave her covert status.

Now, armed with the knowledge that Congressman Waxman was fully aware that Valerie Plame was lying to the oversight committee. And the fact that we also know “Special Counsel” Patrick Fitzgerald’s investigation was a sham, and United States v I. Lewis Libby was a show trial.

With this in mind take another look at the despicable conduct of Chairman Waxman as he lies to all of America, and tries (but fails) to discredit an honest witness.

  125. Hip, hip, Ooo-Rah!!! The blog is back.

Voting, I thought the NSA was messing with Big Pink too.

24 hours without Pink, is like 8 years of Obama, or 5 minutes with MO.

  126. It’a like a Christmas gift to have Big Pink back! Me, three. I thought NSA or some such was messing with Hillary is 44 as well.

  127. “24 hours without Pink, is like 8 years of Obama, or 5 minutes with MO.”
FUNNY, Shadowfax. I’ll have to remember that one and pass it on.

  128. This is a fine article by Ed Driscoll. It comports with my view that big media has betrayed this nation to such a degree that they are guilty of a form of treason. I realize they do not hold official public office, so treason in the Constitutional sense of the term is wrong. But what are we to make of a cabal of opinion makers who are given the protection of the First Amendment on the theory that they will provide the public with the information they need to make rational choices as voters, and then proceed to betray that fiduciary duty, dumb down the public, conceal material facts, and corrupt the election process? The problem is compounded further by the fact they are a virtual monopoly with certain segments of the population. They use their monopoly power to polarize this society, and to entrust our future to a man who is bent on destroying us. When the crime committed by big media is this serious, I believe there should be no redemption. It is too little and too late. The penalty should be to marginalize them from the public debate to the same degree that they have sought to marginalize the American People, by treating them like mushrooms by feeding them shit and keeping them in the dark. Ed Driscoll makes these points better than I could. Learned Hand once said a wise man is a skeptical one. That applies in spades to anyone who presumes to act as a reporter, and when he fails that test, he needs to be banished.

Random Anthropological Observations of the Faith-Based Community

    December 17th, 2013 – 10:28 pm

ABC-Disney’s Barbara Walters discusses the legacy media’s initial take on Barack Obama with Time-Warner-CNN-HBO spokesman Piers Morgan: “We thought that he was going to be — I shouldn’t say this at Christmastime — but the next messiah,” as spotted by Noel Sheppard of Newsbusters:

PIERS MORGAN, HOST: You have interviewed every president of my lifetime. Why is Obama facing so much opposition now? Why is he struggling so much to really fulfill the great flame of ambition and excitement that he was elected on originally in 2009?

BARBARA WALTERS: Well, you’ve touched on it to a degree. He made so many promises. We thought that he was going to be — I shouldn’t say this at Christmastime — but the next messiah. And the whole ObamaCare, or whatever you want to call it, the Affordable Health Act, it just hasn’t worked for him, and he’s stumbled around on it, and people feel very disappointed because they expected more.

It’s very difficult when the expectations for you are very high. You’re almost better off when they are low and then they rise and rise. His were very high and they’ve dropped. But you know, he still has several years to go. What does he have, three years, Piers? And, you know, there will be a lot of changes, one thinks in that time.

There are all sorts of follow-up questions that could be asked of Walters at this point, none of which Morgan is capable of doing — because he too thought of Obama as the next messiah (and very likely still does). Off the top of my head, some of these questions include:

    ● When you said that “we thought he was going to be…the next messiah,” define “we,” please?

    ● How could virtually the entire MSM get the biggest story of 2008 wrong? Why did they move in such lockstep?

    ● This wasn’t a case of single reporter on a crime scene talking live into a mini-cam, and making a snap decision to go with his gut during a fast-moving story that turns out to be wrong — telling viewers that the suspect has a gun, when it turns out later he actually had a knife, that sort of thing. This was a long, slow-moving story that stretched out for years. The cutline on Froma Harrop’s article at Real Clear Politics, titled “Obama Scores as Exotic Who Says Nothing,” was December 26, 2006. Which means that the MSM had over a year and a half to tell potential voters what Mr. Obama wasn’t saying. Instead, in mid-2008, CNN demonstrated how flexible they would be with the truth, first praising hate-filled Obama mentor Rev. Wright’s NAACP, then a week later, tossing Wright down the memory hole on behalf of his most famous parishioner.

Immediately after the election, in November of 2008, a CNN journalist submitted an article that compared Obama to Lincoln, FDR, JFK and even Bill Clinton before concluding, “The Americans who are comparing him to those remarkable predecessors are putting a lot of faith in a man they barely know.” Who’s fault is that, champ? The weekend prior to the election, Tom Brokaw of NBC and Charlie Rose, then with PBS, pretended that they knew little about Obama, despite having the Internet at their fingertips, and their own vast research departments at their beck and call. Clearly they chose not to tell voters who Obama really was for ideological reasons. Why?

    ● During that period, Barbara, is there anything from either Hillary’s camp, or John McCain’s, or information from ABC journalists that would have caused you to discard your messianic worship of a fellow radical chic Democrat?

    ● And of course the ultimate questions: Why should we trust the MSM ever again? Not just Walters, who’s reportedly retiring next year, but the entire ABC news team, AKA, the House of Stephanopoulos, himself a former Clinton aide? And CNN, and NBC?

    ● Am I missing anything above? What questions would you ask the MSM if a superstar journalist made such a jaw-dropping statement to you? Let me know in the comments.

The MSM could use all the help from us that we can muster; they have lots of soul-searching they still need to do, almost as much as Dan Rather, for similarly cooking the books in 2004. And like Rather, they’re too oblivious to even realize how badly they deceived the American public in 2008…and 2010…and 2012…and 2013, until the horrific reality of the Obamacare rollout was too overwhelming, even to those residing in the ozone layer of the self-styled elite MSM. Which brings us to Brent Bozell’s column today, also at Newsbusters, titled “Safeguarding Obama Throughout 2013″:

The statist media despised sequestration in February, and hated the shutdown in October. Politico columnist Roger Simon won the “Kamikaze Award for Disparaging Conservatives During the Shutdown” with this snide riddle. “Question: If Ted Cruz and John Boehner were both on a sinking ship, who would be saved? Answer: America.”

There was an obvious “Quote of the Year” for 2013: the one that removed Martin Bashir from MSNBC. On November 15, he carefully laid out the diary of one Thomas Thistlewood, who punished slaves by having someone urinate and defecate in their mouth. Bashir concluded “if anyone truly qualified for a dose of discipline from Thomas Thistlewood, then she [Palin] would be the outstanding candidate.”

For this, Bashir was out standing – on the street corner looking for a new job. Maybe there’s a slot at the D.C. Water and Sewer Authority. He’d feel right at home.

While I rarely disagree with Bozell’s take on a media issue, that last sentence is actually quite a backhanded shot at the lads in the DC sewer department, who spend years perfecting their craft in a thankless but absolutely vital job that hundreds of thousands of local residents rely upon every day. As opposed to Bashir, a leftwing newsreader in a $3000 bespoke suit, who discovered the hard way that it’s possible to go too far, even at Comcast-NBC-Universal. Even when demonizing Sarah Palin, the designated anti-Christ to the man that old media dubbed God

  129. You look at Walters and wonder why she has not retired. At this point she is running on fumes. You look at a jackass like Morgan and you wonder why he has not been deported. What a waste of air time they both are. Dullards. I mentioned that I went to a town hall meeting which featured a guy named Westin who was president of ABC. He was a real little lord faulteroy type, and he went on and on extolling Barbara Walters to an audience who, near as I could tell, was not even remotely interested. But on and on he went, not noticing the glazed look in people’s eyes. But that is exactly how the mavens of big media behave and think. They live in that elitist bubble, which will burst at some point. Their world view, and the world view of people outside the beltway are not merely incompatible, they are also unreconcileable

  130. Man Finds Loophole To Fight Government Tyranny…Of Light Bulbs

What many do not realize is that come Jan 1st 2014, the manufacturing or importation of incandescent light bulbs will be illegal in the United States.

The luminous prohibition was set in motion in 2007 with a bill that set strict minimum efficiencies that were impossible for traditional incandescent bulbs to meet.

  131. Leanora…the way we got round that stupid law in europe was they are being sold as heaters…….and they are freely on the shelves now because of that.

  132. JUDGE BLASTS OBAMA GOVERNANCE BY ‘SECRET LAW’ – On the heels of a decision ruling a key provision of the Obama administration’s secret domestic surveillance program unconstitutional, another judge has hit the president for secrecy and ordered the administration to open the books. U.S. District Court Judge Ellen Huvelle, a Clinton appointee, blasted the administration for trying keep secret a memo on foreign aid, writing: “The government appears to adopt the cavalier attitude that the President should be permitted to convey orders throughout the Executive Branch without public oversight…to engage in what is in effect governance by ‘secret law.’” More from McClatchy….

  133. “When you said that “we thought he was going to be…the next messiah,” define “we,” please?”

This was exactly the question I had, when I saw this. Who the hell is we? The media? Of course the media thought if they could put O in the WH, they would witness him walking on the water in the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool. “We” certainly encompasses the ladies of The View. Joy Behar or howthehellever her name is spelled (she’s not worth worrying about it) was the sickest of all the women of The View when it came to Obama delusion. “We” surely means all of the elite mega-wealthy libs Babara Wa Wa hangs with.

But, “we” most of all means all of the Obamanuts who, along with Babara were silly and nonsensical enough to believe that this shell of a man was remotely capable of the fantastic fetes he claimed and they believed him to be capable of – this shallow man, with no experience to speak of, whose background and associations were shadier than those of Albert Anastasia, who had back-stabbed the woman who had hand-picked him to replace her in the IL congress upon her retirement (never suspecting that he had plans for her to retire immediately), who was contrived and manufactured – like a talking, teleprompted life-sized cardboard figure.

The media helped manufacture and sell the idea that Obama would do great, wonderful things. He started the lie and they put the finishing touches on it. Now they are just so surprised. Stupid, Crazy, and dishonest – when someone possesses all three traits, and many in the media and WH obviously do, they can cause major damage – as they did and are still doing.

  135. And now India too. 🙄

The Indian government retaliated Tuesday against the United States for the recent arrest and strip search of an Indian envoy — going so far as to remove the concrete barriers at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi and, reportedly, demanding American diplomats return their ID cards.

The clash between the two supposed allies escalated rapidly on the heels of last week’s arrest of Devyani Khobragade, India’s deputy consul general, in New York. She was accused of submitting false documents to obtain a work visa for her Manhattan housekeeper.

  136. ABC-Disney’s Barbara Walters discusses the legacy media’s initial take on Barack Obama with Time-Warner-CNN-HBO spokesman Piers Morgan:
Initial reaction? How about their continuing reaction up through the 2012 election. It is their permanent reaction, and we need to hoist those bastards by their own petard. In the future however we should do a Driscoll does, and refer to ABC as the Disney Channel (Walters is mickey not Minnie mouse), NBC as the Comcast channel, CBS as the Westinghouse channel, and MSNBC as the Charlie Manson wannabe channel.

  137. Update: Speaking of snark, Olivier Knox at Yahoo News drops the snark hammer on Podesta and his apology:

In a notable de-escalation of the White House’s rhetorical war on its critics, an incoming senior adviser to President Barack Obama has compared House Republicans and the tea party to the infamous Jonestown cult that was behind one of the worst mass-murders of civilians in history. And then apologized. …

Still, how is that first comment a de-escalation, you ask, quite reasonably? Well, it really wasn’t that long ago that the White House was unrepentantly comparing the House GOP and the tea party to terrorists with bombs strapped to their chests. This is arguably a little less inflammatory. The United States isn’t waging a global military campaign against cults, after all. Or that could just be my snark getting in front of my judgment.

  138. Ryan = RINO. The RINO loves to wet his beak with contributions from special interests. (Note: wet your beak is a Mafia term for graft, kickback, vig, and in some cases protection money. How appropriate, then, that Mitch McConnell would use that particular term to convey his request, or price might be a better term for throwing a fundraiser for him, if we wanted to get our proposal through congress).

The RINO campaign is suffused with mawkish references to god, mother, apple pie, and our brave men and women in uniform. It is all an act however, just like Obama is an act of cheap theater. As Hillary has noted on many occasions, the operative question for any politician is not what they say, but what they do. Put differently, talk is cheap. Or, action talks and bullshit walks. That should be Obama’s political epitaph.

And so it is with the RINO. His support for the military begins and ends with on defense contractor contributors. It does not does not extend to our men and women in uniform. Nor is Ryan any exception. Lest we forget, Bush neglected our injured warriors, and failed to maintain their hospital. It was a big story for big media, but now that their messiah is in charge, they are not interested. Those people are corrupt to the core.

But I digress. The critical takeaway from this vignette is that the RINO is perfectly willing to screw military people. And they are willing to blame Reid for a problem that they themselves created. Therefore, can there be any doubt that he will do the same thing to social security and medicare benefits under the pretext of restoring fiscal sanity? Big media, in the personage of that may he rot in hell pundit Russert was and are keen to slash social security, therefore the RINO will have the political wind to his back when he moves to screw the American People.

And, lest we forget, these RINOs were perfectly content to bail out the banks, thereby privatizing the profits and socializing the costs of those corrupt institutions. But the American People are a much easier target, because they do not have a seat at the table, like the special interests do.

As I see it, there are only two ways to prevent this massacre of the middle class: nominate Cruz in the primary. When the monied interests in the Republican Party and their big media accomplices marginalize him, and give the nomination to Christie, support Hillary in the general election.

Paul Ryan & the GOP Must Own the Cuts to Veterans Benefits

    By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 18th, 2013 at 11:51 AM | 18

    Paul Ryan

Republicans in the Senate want to restore veterans benefits to the Paul Ryan – Patty Murray Budget plan.

Harry Reid is blocking the amendment so Republicans are blaming Harry Reid for cutting veterans benefits.

That is intellectually dishonest of the GOP.

Paul Ryan, a Republican, drafted the plan with Patty Murray, a Democrat.

House Republicans overwhelming approved the plan before it even made it to Harry Reid for a vote. The Republicans could have restored the cuts themselves in the House. Instead, they voted for the plan with the cuts to veterans benefits and went home.

Were Harry Reid to restore the cuts, he’d need to get the House back from Christmas vacation.

Republicans are going to have to own this. Paul Ryan drafted it. John Boehner pushed it through and didn’t give even the 72 hours he promised he’d give for people to look through his legislation. Maybe had John Boehner spent more time reading through the legislation instead of blasting conservatives for opposing cuts to veterans’ benefits and tax increases he could have done something.

Veterans, including veterans disabled due to war injuries, are going to get screwed in the legislation.

This is not Harry Reid’s fault. This is Paul Ryan’s fault, John Boehner’s fault, and the House Republicans’ fault. They rushed the plan through without fixing it. To blame Harry Reid for what they themselves did is just crass partisan politics.

Made worse, it is partisan politics on the backs of veterans — that’s something the Democrats usually do.

  140. I think there’s a growing sense among the grassroots that no matter what they do, the Republican leadership won’t fight these liberal policies,” Matt Hoskins, Executive Director of the Senate Conservatives Fund told Breitbart News. “They appear to be shifting their focus toward replacing these Republicans with true conservatives in the 2014 primaries.”

The Republican party owes its majority in the House to an historic conservative turnout in 2010. Republican Presidential nominee owes his second place finish in 2012 to an equally historic failure of conservatives to turnout in critical battleground states.

While Republicans are poised for a very strong showing in the midterms next year, attacking the party’s base voters and potentially driving down turnout is a recipe for the party to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Beyond the attacks on conservatives, the party’s return to failed budget negotiations also has the potential to curtail conservative turnout.

I notice you hand out RINO/DINO awards quite often.

  143. t’s early for a palate cleanser but I’m not sure this doesn’t qualify as legit news. I … did not expect to find myself eager to revisit the Romney 2012 campaign on film, but here we are, my friends. Here we are.

It’s true that the trailer is more humanizing than anything Romney’s campaign did for him, but the deck is stacked. The bio video that the GOP produced for the convention was solid but nothing as stage-managed as campaign propaganda will ever have the disarming charm of behind-the-scenes footage of the candidates in unguarded moments. Plus, the trailer’s cheating by putting the agony of defeat up front. Watching this guy try to hold it together while struggling with the weight of defeat, surrounded by his wife, kids, and grandkids, would melt the heart of anyone who doesn’t work at MSNBC. He seems … so lifelike. So incredibly lifelike.

  144. ● When you said that “we thought he was going to be…the next messiah,” define “we,” please?

wbb, this was my first question when I saw that interview. Of course, we know who “we” are.

MSM, The View women, and the elite ultra-left unicorn jockeys that Babara Wa Wa associates with.

The “we’ certainly does not included to those of us who supported Hillary in 2008. It wouldn’t have included millions of Americans had media not created Obama and his messiah-like persona – a total creation by his handlers and the media. No one capable of critical thinking would have had such fantastic expectations of Obama had the media not force fed the Obama myth to the American public 24 hours a day, every day for years.

Anyone capable of research and reasoning should have known BO was a much different person than than the Great Obama as he was portrayed by barack, himself, his campaign, and the media.

Barbara talks as if she didn’t know of his lack of experience, his standard “Vote No”policy as senator. Did she not know of his associations, many of whom were every bit as shady as Chicago’s native son, Al Capone. Had she not read of the manner in which Barack got himself elected to the IL State legislature? Did she not think it demonstrated less than messiah-like character to back-stab the IL Congresswoman who, along with Ayers and Dhorn had hand-picked barack to be her replacement upon her retirement from congress. Of course, she hadn’t planned to retire quite as soon as she did. But Barack pulled a fast one, and she was out of the running.

If Barbara Wa Wa and media actually had no info about Barack’s background, they should be humiliated and embarrassed to call themselves journalists. If they knew, which of course they did, and thought he was just too cool and wise, not to mention post-racial, to be held to the rule of law and the constitution, they should be condemned for violating the laws of common sense and decency, for abusing power, for manipulating the American people, Barbara and her interviewer, Piers – I’m just a fool for Barack – Morgan, along with their cohorts in media were the ones who raised Americans’ expectations of Barack to the heights Babara described in her interview. They helped create those expectations, now poor Barack is suffering because they were too high. Barbara needs to move in with Joy – I’m another fool for Barack – Behar, and spend the rest of their days telling themselves and each other what idiots they are.

  149. Dems trying to pull a fast one……

The White House is set to select outgoing Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) as its pick for ambassador to China, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and a Baucus ally confirmed Wednesday.

Baucus, 72, previously announced that he won’t seek reelection to the Senate in 2014.

Assuming Baucus is confirmed sometime in 2014, it means there will be a vacancy in his seat. Gov. Steve Bullock (D) will get to make the appointment for the final year of Baucus’s term.

Bullock could pick his lieutenant governor, John Walsh, who is already running for the seat in 2014. But Walsh faces a primary against former lieutenant governor John Bohlinger, and governors sometimes opt to pick placeholders who don’t intend to run for the seat in order to avoid allegations of favoritism.

Rep. Steve Daines is the leading candidate on the GOP side. Republicans have been favored to win the seat in a state that President Obama lost by 13 points in 2012.

    …playing games i see.

Obama encourages moms to ‘tell stories in the grocery store’ about Obamacare

In a meeting with “eight moms from around America,” according to a White House pool report, President Obama encouraged the mothers to sing the praises of Obamacare while they’re out shopping at grocery stores.

Obama, speaking to the moms in the Oval Office, acknowledged that there have been problems with the roll-out of his signature health legislation, but insisted that a solid P.R. campaign will rescue Obamacare.

When people “hear about preventive care, the more they hear about no lifetime limits,” Obama said. “The more information they get, the more satisfied they’re going to be.”

When does the subliminal messaging get going “Obey, Obey, Obey”

  152. Best comment from that article…..

The next meme will probably be – “If you hear a neighbor badmouthing the Affordable Health Care Act do the President and your government a favor and turn them in.”

and actually its the sort of thing i could see them actually doing………….

  153. Unfriggin believable….our disabled vets get screwed in the new budget while illegals continue to get monies they have absolutely, positively no right to one damn cent.

“On Wednesday, Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), who brokered the budget deal with Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), claimed the cuts to disabled veterans benefits were “mistakenly” included in the agreement and vowed to rectify the “unintended inclusion.”
“A provision in this deal which mistakenly impacted retirement benefits for disabled veterans… will be fixed in short order,” Murray said. “This technical error can, will, and should be addressed.”

Murray, the Chairwoman of the Senate Budget Committee, made her remarks before the budget passed the Senate by a 64-36 vote Wednesday. The House passed the deal last week. The budget raises spending beyond the sequester levels and has been resoundingly criticized as a tax increase.

Criticism intensified once details emerged that the budget cut $6 billion in benefits for wounded and disabled veterans even as it kept tax credits for illegal immigrants. As Breitbart News investigative reporter Matthew Boyle has shown, Ryan’s staff scrubbed an original false claim that the budget deal “would not affect service members who retired because of disability or injury.” Moreover, House GOP leaders reportedly also knew of this provision and did nothing about it.”

I heard this yesterday, and was blown away.

Of course the Dems supported the bill 100%. Obama thought it was a good bill, but was pissed because unemployment benefits were not extended.

Re: the failure to ensure benefits to retired disabled veterans – VH, you made an excellent point. It is unbelievable that this group would be tossed under the bus. Regardless how anyone feels about immigration and treatment of illegals, it should be illogical and just plain wrong in anyone’s view that people who have served in the country’s armed forces, and are now disabled should be less entitled to care and assistance than illegal immigrants.

I guess it’s all about voes. most veterans won’t support Obama and the Dems anyway, so they clearly are of no use to them. The illegals on the other hand, if Dems can pass amnesty, or Barack can sign another edict making it the law of the land, with or without congress, the Dems figure they’ll have the support of the Hispanic population from now on.

  155. CDS is a terrible thing.

    From article {EMPHASIS MINE}

At least that’s the impression you get from a Politico report about Clinton’s love fest with titans of finance at a recent Goldman Sachs event, where she told them Wall Street-bashing is foolish.

“Striking a soothing note on the global financial crisis,” reporters Ben White and Maggie Haberman wrote after speaking to several attendees, “she told the audience, in effect: We all got into this mess together, and we’re all going to have to work together to get out of it.”

The reporters continued: “What the bankers heard her to say was just what they would hope for from a prospective presidential candidate: Beating up the finance industry isn’t going to improve the economy — it needs to stop.”

The report makes it clear that Clinton’s remarks were seen as a “repudiation” of “angry anti-Wall Street rhetoric” from supporters of Warren and Ohio Democrat Sen. Sherrod Brown.

Clinton is portrayed as throwing a lifeline to these beaten-up Wall Street denizens, offering “a glimpse to a future in which Wall Street might repair its frayed political relationships.”

Clinton, it seems, is willing to duke it out with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to see who can be Wall Street’s favorite candidate, if Christie, as widely expected, tosses his hat in the ring for the Republican nomination in 2016.

  156. Race Baiting Scumbag Al Sharpton To Interview Mooch…

I would rather have my teeth extracted while having a colonoscopy.

  157. Big media cannot afford to face the truth about Obama. Therefore, they lie about it.

When asked to explain Obama’s declining popularity, what does Barbara Walters say? She says he made too many promises which could not be kept. That is a very convenient explanation for them. It allows them to cast him as a noble figure rather than the conman he is. Also it allows them to find scapegoats for his failure, be they racists, white people, gentiles, or whatever “ignus fautius” Walters and her ilk choose to conjure up.

This is yet another distortion by big media. His declining popularity has nothing to do with over promising and under delivering. On the contrary, it is not a question of competence, but character. The simple truth is he engaged in a massive scheme of fraud, which is destroying our health care system. For it has been shown that he lied 35 time about keeping your health care, when he knew that was not the case. Furthermore, he has a clear motive to do so, and that was to win an election.

That Walters would seek to condone all of this as a simple matter of over promising shows how pathetic she really is. Certainly not the dynamo that the late William Saphire admired so effusively.

  158. Michelle Obama suggests a different kind of xmas present for moms to give — a family discussion on health insurance
Never wish for anything too much because you may have the misfortune of getting it. Those discussions will undoubtedly occur, with or without her encouragement. And they will dig her and her hubby an even deeper whole. For typically those family discussion turn on family expenses and family security, as opposed to some twisted collectivist vision of societal failure, notwithstanding what the young meatballs say.

  159. Will no one rid us of these cockroaches……term limits folks….term limits.

ObamaCare Found To Restrict Where You Live And Travel

Freedom: It’s bad enough that the president’s health insurance takeover costs more, breaks his pledge of letting you keep your plan and diminishes choice. It actually restricts your travels too.

‘We have never had to put a wall up to keep our people in.” Those words from President John F. Kennedy in June 1963, standing at the Berlin Wall, neatly illustrated the moral superiority of the free West over the Soviet bloc.

But Americans are now about to find themselves grappling with their own bureaucratic Berlin Wall. The American Thinker’s Stella Paul has exposed the virtually unnoticed fact that within the ObamaCare exchanges so many Americans are being forced into, “most plans only provide local medical coverage.”

Paul warns this will have “a profound impact on the real-estate market, particularly the second home sector, and on the travel business.” She interviewed one Connecticut retiree whose health required having a winter home in South Carolina. Her $450-per-month, $2,500 deductible, no co-pay Blue Cross policy that had worked well in both states was suddenly canceled.

The new policy she was offered under ObamaCare was twice as expensive, with a deductible costing $1,000 more, and no out-of-network coverage.

Having had a surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, out-of-network coverage was a must. And she found it. “It’s $900 a month,” she told Paul, “with a $7,000 deductible and a co-pay on everything. Basically, it’s catastrophic insurance, and I’ll be paying my South Carolina doctors out of pocket.”

A prominent New York insurance broker pointed out that most of the policies offered on the ObamaCare exchanges are not national networks, so “if you need routine medical services, they will not be covered when you leave your local area,” as they were before.

Travel health insurance, unfortunately, only covers emergencies. So, the broker told Paul, “a large portion of the population will have their insurance as a consideration for their mobility, which they never had before.”

Imagine having to take all this into account in making decisions about where in America you want to live.

  161. I know this is like a fantasy memo to Hillary…is the author right……

Memo to Hillary Clinton: ‘You’re the Problem’
Best bet for a third Clinton term is if she runs as the ‘Real Hillary’ — warm, open and honest.

The following is a faux memo, though its contents are based upon my interviews with people close to Hillary Clinton. They spoke on condition of anonymity because: a) Clinton has not decided whether to run for president; b) she has not authorized anybody to talk about 2016 deliberations; c) her friends, family, and advisers are still in the early stages of debating strategies. This represents one point of view:

    To: Hillary

    From: A Few of Us

    Subject: Anti-Hillary

The last we spoke as a group you made it clear that your mind wasn’t made up about 2016. We get it: You’re tired and it’s too soon. And you’re right: by this time next year, you’ll know for certain whether you’ve got the fire in your belly, and we’ll be better able to judge voters’ attitudes toward “a third Clinton term.” (Sorry, we know you hate that phrase, but it makes a point.) Everybody on the team agrees you deserve some space.

But a few of us felt compelled to jot down some “unofficial” thoughts for you to digest during the holidays. We’re a bit worried about the nature of the team’s discussions so far. What bothers us is this: The talks are almost exclusively tactical, traditional, and safe – based on a consensus that your brand is smartly positioned for 2016 and that you would be the prohibitive favorite. A few of us think differently. We think:

Buffeted by jarring social change, the American public is disillusioned with:

    Washington, especially the gridlock.
Politics in general, especially the phoniness.
    Institutions, especially the ineffectiveness.

As the 2016 election fast approaches, most Americans intellectually understand the importance of your experience as first lady, senator, and secretary of State. Your personal approval ratings are higher than those of President Obama. You should be proud. But, as you’ve heard us say, Americans make most of their decisions – from buying homes and cars to deciding where to shop and how to vote – not with their heads, but with their guts. By that measure, we’ve seen results of psycho-social surveys and of focus groups that raise red flags.

Most Americans including many of your supporters consider you to be:

    A creature of Washington.
Intensely political (think of words like “calculating” and “ambitious”).
An institution (and not just because of your age. The Clinton family itself is an institution, one freighted with baggage).

And so your biggest hurdle isn’t your age, the president’s record, your husband, or even Benghazi/Whitewater etc. It’s you, Hillary. You’re the problem – that is, if you once again present yourself as an institution of Washington awaiting a political coronation. To win, you must be the anti-Hillary. You need to blast the public’s caricature of you to smithereens and replace it with what we know as the Real Hillary.

    In 2015-16, you must be:

Accessible. Be a constant presence on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media (you, not your staff). Surround yourself all day with reporters and photographers. Exhaust them with … you. Make John McCain’s “Straight Talk Express” look like a buttoned-down operation. Operate with a flexible schedule that allows for off-the-cuff wonderfulness.

Honest and Authentic. Take tough stands and state them clearly. Make mistakes and own up to them. As a matter of fact, the only thing we should schedule for you every day is the “Daily Mistake and Apology.” We’re kidding … sort of.

Vulnerable. Remember choking up in New Hampshire? You looked human. People like humans. Don’t be afraid of looking tired or even grumpy; those are emotions that people can relate to, if you explain them. That horsey laugh of yours? Don’t hide it; you’re a funny, warm person. Let people see you. Be. Hillary.

Flexible. We live in a time of unprecedented change, when institutions adapt or perish. Be an institution that adapts. Be quick to change your strategy, your message, your staff (fire us first!) and, yes, even your hairstyle. Tut-tutting be damned.

Small. People are tired of big institutions. Travel light and run a lean operation. We’ve told people this for years but they don’t believe us: While nobody feels a country’s pain like your husband, you are better than President Clinton in living rooms and at kitchen tables. Far better. You are a master of the small talk and small gestures that still make a difference in politics, especially in states like Iowa and New Hampshire. Show them.

Competent. This goes without saying but that divided, plodding campaign operation you ran in 2008 didn’t work. It also sent a bad signal to voters about how you might run their government. A model for your 2016 campaign would be (you’re going to hate this) no-drama Obama. Also, your staff is one way to shatter the perception that you’re a polarizer. Hire a Republican or two, ideally people who worked for the Bush-Cheney White House and later (publicly) disowned the politics of division. Surprise them.

Populist: Our detailed thoughts on your agenda will come in a separate memo but understand this: The next president of the United States (Democrat or Republican) will be a populist. Income disparity and declining social mobility are clichés in Washington, but in the rest of America, they are facts of life. Middle-class voters, especially, are angry and scared, and they’re hungry for a leader who will carry them across that bridge built for the 21st century. Borrow from populists on the left (Elizabeth Warren’s attacks on Wall Street) and the right (Rand Paul’s attacks on NSA surveillance) to be the singular candidate for our troubled times.

In addition, you could play on voters’ distrust of government by reaching back to the first Clinton White House (notice, we said “first”) for a serious platform on “reinventing government.” What if, for example, you promised to spend your first 100 days in office focused exclusively on making good programs (read: Democratic programs) even better – say, Head Start and Obamacare? Implicitly conceding that the Obama administration dropped the ball on governing, you would earn back the public’s trust in government before launching new initiatives. FDR did something like this before launching the New Deal.

Pope Francis has reminded us of the power of small gestures. Without changing the Vatican’s ideology one iota, he has transformed the way people think about the Catholic Church, one symbolic act at a time. And consider the parallels between your job and that of the pope – an old man running an ancient institution marred by scandal and incompetence. You can be just as transformative. Actually, if you run for president, you must be. That’s what a few of us think.

In many ways it is correct, they want Hillary to start attacking Obama’s bad governing. Take on tough positions and like we have said before…..Let Hillary be Hillary, laugh, joke, cry, let yourself be that person we all fell in love with way back in 2008.

Does this author have a point?

Desperate Medical Industrial Complex Attacks Vitamin And Mineral Supplements

For nearly 100 years now, high-quality vitamin and mineral supplements have made amazing improvements to the quality of people’s lives the world over. This author personally attests to the power of said supplements properly taken over the past 30 years. But the American Medical Association and its various minions see vitamin supplements as direct competition to their regimen of highly toxic drugs that come with an incredible number of side effects and drug interactions that kill thousands of people each year.

It further galls the Industrial Drug Complex that vitamin and mineral supplements are a multi-billion dollar a year industry that they have tried, and failed, many times to get control of. You see, it’s not about your health and well-being, its about what it is always about: the money.

Today, organized medicine has taken their strongest shot to date in an attempt to scare people away from taking supplements. As usual, their opinion is biased, slanted and corrupt and as such is rendered meaningless and worthless. In this article they also attack 2-time Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling, and dismiss his amazing body of work as “quackery”. Why do they call him a ‘quack’? Because Pauling discovered that the combination of vitamin C and the amino acid Lysine can reverse heart disease for pennies a day with zero side effects.

Shame on you, heartless drug companies who only seek after profit. And double shame on you ignorant doctors who prescribe toxic drugs because you get kick-backs from the pharmaceutical companies.

  166. First criminal case against a Shale firm opens
snip The case, the first criminal action against a Marcellus Shale drilling company since the natural gas boom began five years ago, has taken on political and symbolic importance largely because of the players involved – Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane vs. the nation’s largest oil company.
Both sides brought lots of legal and public relations firepower to the courtroom Wednesday. XTO has hired three legal firms to “vigorously” defend itself. The Attorney General’s Office was represented by some of its top lawyers from Harrisburg.
The presence of two well-supported legal teams and a case involving complex environmental law was staggering for District Judge James G. Carn, a veteran magistrate who usually hears misdemeanors and traffic violations in his 18- by 35-foot courtroom. “This is whole new territory for me,” he told the lawyers.
After hearing a full day’s testimony from six witnesses called by the Attorney General’s Office, Carn took the case under advisement. He must decide whether it can move ahead to a full trial in Lycoming County Court.
The charges involve a spill that Daniel discovered by chance during a routine, unannounced inspection on XTO’s Marquardt well site in Penn Township on Nov. 16, 2010.
There is little dispute that wastewater produced by hydraulically fractured wells leaked from the site. How much leaked, and whether the leak was a criminal act, is at issue.

    Published December 19, 2013
India’s foreign minister has demanded that the U.S. drop federal charges against an Indian diplomat who was arrested and strip-searched while being held on visa charges.
The demand came one day after a federal prosecutor defended the diplomat’s treatment, saying that she was given coffee and offered food while detained.
The incident has escalated tensions between the two nations, leading U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to express “regret” to an Indian official on Wednesday.
U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, who made the highly unusual move Wednesday of issuing a lengthy statement addressing the arrest and issues not in a criminal complaint, said diplomat Devyani Khobragade was afford courtesies most Americans wouldn’t get — such as being allowed to make phone calls for two hours to arrange child care and sort out personal matters — after she was discreetly arrested by State. “Instead, Majority Leader Reid rushed through this closed-door deal without a single amendment,” Sessions said. “His conference blocked my amendment, for instance, to replace pension cuts for wounded warriors with the closure of a tax welfare loophole. Clinton made the comments while discussing immigration reform earlier this month on the America with Jorge Ramos program.

“I think that we’re trying to pass immigration reform. The country needs it. If – I wish that all these members of Congress who oppose immigration reform, and who feel threatened by it, had been with me on my recent trip to Asia,” Clinton said.

Parents go through unbelievable heartache in their role as a parent as we rise and fall with our children’s accomplishments and setbacks. Administration opens first hole in health law mandate

    By David Lauter
    December 19, 2013, 9:37 p.m.

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration has opened a small, but potentially important, hole in a key requirement of the new healthcare law, letting some people who have had insurance policies cancelled avoid the requirement to buy coverage next year.

The change, announced Thursday night in a letter that Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius sent to a group of senators, marks the first exception the administration has allowed to the law’s so-called individual mandate.

Under the new policy, people who have received notices that their health plans are being canceled would qualify for hardship exemptions allowed by the law. Under those exemptions, they could buy low-cost catastrophic health plans or skip buying health coverage altogether.

The low-cost plans, which provide bare-bones coverage, are otherwise available only to some people younger than 30.

The number of people directly affected by the change may be relatively small. Administration officials said earlier Thursday that they believed about 500,000 people nationwide had received notices canceling existing policies and had not yet bought new coverage.

Since those people already had purchased coverage at a time when no law required it, a large percentage of them presumably will buy coverage next year rather than take advantage of the new exemption.

But even if that turns out to be the case and the number of people claiming exemptions is small relative to the size of the insurance market, the political impact of the change could be large. The exemption policy constitutes the first crack in the wall for the requirement to buy coverage.

Republicans, who have campaigned fiercely against the requirement that people buy insurance, probably will now seize on the new exemption as a precedent.

Health insurers have insisted the mandate that everyone buy insurance is necessary to keep coverage affordable and were quick to criticize the new policy.

he change, coming less than two weeks before new health plans take effect on Jan. 1, “could cause significant instability in the marketplace and lead to further confusion and disruption for consumers,” Karen Ignagni, the head of America’s Health Insurance Plans, the industry trade group, said in a statement.

The new policy stems from one of the biggest political problems Obama has faced with the troubled rollout of the healthcare law — his promise that the people who liked their existing health plans could keep them. When several million people nationwide began receiving notices that their plans would be canceled because the plans fell short of the new law’s requirements, Obama suffered a sharp drop in public trust.

Democrats in Congress, especially senators facing tough reelection challenges next year, were bitterly upset at the predicament in which Obama’s words had placed them. They have pressured the administration to respond to angry constituents.

Sebelius made the latest concession in a letter to six senators: Democrats Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine of Virginia, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, Mary L. Landrieu of Louisiana and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota and independent Angus King of Maine. Landrieu and Shaheen are up for reelection in 2014, and the Louisiana race already promises to be close.

In a statement, the six said the change would “help those consumers who have had their plans canceled this year transition more smoothly into the marketplace.”,0,4556490.story#ixzz2nzkqttk8

  180. Obama’s brother even says “dreams of my father” was a big fat lie.

The 500-page book includes an appendix listing a number of alleged factual errors in Obama’s 1995 memoir, “Dreams from my Father,” such as quotes incorrectly attributed to Ndesandjo’s mother.

“It’s a correction. A lot of the stuff that Barack wrote is wrong in that book and I can understand that because to me for him the book was a tool for fashioning an identity and he was using composites,” Ndesandjo said.

“I wanted to bring it up because first of all I wanted the record to be straight. I wanted to tell my own story, not let people tell it for me,” he said.

  182. Hillary’s statement that

“I will look carefully at what I think I can do and make that decision sometime next year.”

is being misread to mean that she will announce her candidacy next year.

It would be suicide to do so, so I don’t think she will. She will “make that decision sometime next year,” but imo she will not announce until 2015, and the later the better. Pres campaigns used to be announced at Labor Day the year before the election. That would correspond to Sept 2015.

That all changed when Obama announced in December 2006, and that meant all the other D candidates had to announce early in 2007 (Hillary on 20 Jan 2007), making for two years of constant campaigning.

Iirc, the Repugs to their credit have not succumbed to this constant campaigning mode.

  183. In my opinion, the Dems won’t repeal Obamacare, what they are doing is taking it apart piece by piece, dleay by delay, its called slow withdrawal and it is exactly what they are doing to save face and so many lawsuits are going to be flying come Jan 1st…….I would not be surprised if in the end, the insurance industry does not sue the ass of the Govt.

and i can see lawsuits on this, you cannot have one rule for one and not another, the law itself says not.

David Remus asks, “Given that the individual mandate was upheld as a tax, are there other examples of a president waiving taxes for certain groups?” That is really going to be contentious under the law.

Definitively falling apart at the seams.

  184. Why am i not surprised

The U.S. government this week said the head of a human-rights organization working on behalf of Islamist political prisoners was also a financier for al Qaeda.

Most of the world knows Abdul Rahman Omeir al-Naimi as a Qatari history professor and human-rights activist. The Swiss-based organization he founded, known as al-Karama from the Arab word for dignity, has worked closely with the United Nations and American human rights groups, most notably Human Rights Watch.

According to the U.S. government, however, al-Naimi is also a major financier of al Qaeda. On Wednesday, the Treasury Department issued a designation of al-Naimi that said he oversaw the transfer of hundreds of thousands of dollars to al Qaeda and its affiliates in Iraq, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen over the last 11 years. In 2013, the designation says, al-Naimi ordered the transfer of nearly $600,000 to al Qaeda via the group’s representative in Syria. In the same notice, the Treasury Department also designated Abdulwahab Al-Humayqani, al-Karama’s representative in Yemen, as a financier and member of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the group’s Yemen affiliate. On Twitter, al-Naimi acknowledged that he and al-Humayqani, whom he calls by his first name, were designated for supporting terrorism. Al-Naimi has resigned as president of al-Karama’s board, but told the group’s senior leadership that he intends to challenge the Treasury Department’s designation.

If the Treasury Department’s allegations are correct, the story of al-Naimi, who until Thursday was the president of al-Karama’s board, illustrates how sometimes human-rights advocacy can also be used as political cover for jihadist networks. Al-Karama has advocated for the release of Hassan al-Diqqi, the leader of a banned political party in the United Arab Emirates. In 2010, the group claimed credit for forcing the U.N. Working Group on Arbitrary Detentions to criticize the Emirates for his detention. In September, however, the Washington Post reported that al-Diqqi appeared in a video earlier this year at a training camp for jihadist rebels in Syria.

While the Treasury Department did not single out al-Karama in its designation this week, U.S. allies in the Middle East have accused al-Naimi in the past of being a terrorist. Saudi Arabia has banned al-Naimi from entering that country, for example, the foundation’s executive director, Mourad Dhina, said in an interview.

Al-Naimi’s organization has in the past worked closely with the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) as well as the U.N. Human Rights Council. Al-Karama has also issued joint communiqués with Human Rights Watch, which specializes in legal advocacy on behalf of Islamist prisoners throughout the Middle East.

In April of this year, a staff attorney for CCR gave testimony before the Senate based in part on field research from al-Karama on the impact of the U.S. drone war in Yemen. Human Rights Watch has joined forces with al-Karama in campaigns to free political prisoners in the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia

In an interview Thursday, Mourad Dhina, the executive director of al-Karama, said the news about his group’s founder and the head of its board came as a shock. “This is not good news for us,” he said.

Amazing when they get caught they always scream human rights….worst legislation ever when that occurred, more criminals and terrorists have hidden behind that than anyone else.

  185. Website still has serious security flaws……ABC Exclusive.

Nearly three months after its launch and as millions of Americans log on to shop for health plans, has still had serious security vulnerabilities, according to documents and testimony obtained exclusively by ABC News.

There have been “two high findings” of risk – the most serious level of concern – in testing over the past few weeks, the top Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) cybersecurity official told the House Oversight Committee on Tuesday in a private transcribed interview.

It’s a “vulnerability in the system,” CMS chief information security officer Teresa Fryer told the committee of one of the issues. “They shut the module down, so this functionality is currently shut down.”

The exact description of the issue was redacted from the transcript so as not to further compromise security, a committee official told ABC News.

The federal contractor, MITRE Corporation, that oversees security of the website defines a “high finding” as a risk of “significant political, financial and legal damage” if the technical vulnerability is exploited. One high finding was reported in November, the other earlier this week, Fryer said.

CMS told ABC News on Friday that the issues identified have now been resolved.

In one case, what was initially flagged as a high finding was proven to be false,” the agency said in a statement. “In the other case, we identified a piece of software code that needed to be fixed and that fix is now in place. Since that time, the feature has been fully mitigated and verified by an independent security assessment, per standard practice.”

The administration maintains that no components of the website were allowed to go live after Oct. 1 with “open [unresolved] high findings.”

The revelation comes as the federal online insurance marketplace faces a surge in traffic ahead of the Dec. 23 sign-up deadline for coverage to take effect on Jan. 1. CMS says there have been more than 39 million unique visitors to the site since Oct. 1, with more than a million this week alone.

  187. Media getting its teeth into the WH and Ocare today……

CBS: Top ObamaCare official wanted site shut down over security risks – and was overruled.

It’s not as if HHS wasn’t aware of concerns over security for the ObamaCare exchange they launched. Dozens of Attorneys General issued public warnings over the summer about the lack of security in a system that would contain the most private identity information of any web portal ever. Their own Inspector General blasted the contractors working on the site in June for their performance on security.

Still, HHS rolled out the site even with those gaps unaddressed, putting millions of Americans at risk for identity theft — but the news gets worse. CBS News’ Sharyl Attkisson reports this morning that a top official in the ObamaCare exchange told Congress on Tuesday that HHS discovered two more big security issues that no one detected before the rollout:

    Word of the year: Mega-hyper-uber-macro-giga-collossal-fuckup

Can’t possibly guess what it refers tooooo, rolls eyes.

  189. Oh jesus Obama is gonna lecture us all again……

President Barack Obama is set to brief the media and make one final pre-vacation push for his signature health insurance overhaul, just hours after his Department of Health and Human Services took a giant step toward obliterating the ‘individual mandate’ that is holding Obamacare together.

HHS said Thursday night that nearly 500,000 people who have lost their medical insurance under the Affordable Care Act would qualify for a ‘hardship exemption’ to the individual mandate, allowing them to buy the same low-cost, bare-bones ‘catastrophic’ coverage plans that were previously available only for Americans under 30 years of age.

News reports have projected the number of canceled policies as closer to 15 million, but Obama administration officials insisted that number was greatly exaggerated. Insurers automatically renewed most of those plans or otherwise found them ‘grandfathered,’ they said, while not directly acknowledging that those renewals came at a much higher cost.

The nearly half-million Americans with hardship exemptions, however, will now have an extra year to find traditional coverage – a status that other Americans will envy, Republicans will blast and insurers already dread.

Idiot in chief will open his mouth, put whole foot in and swallow it whole…..muppet.

  190. This is gonna be fun, Ocare is more or less dead in the water with this removal of individual mandate….its a total clusterfuck.

Evil Preaches Tolerance Until It Is Dominant, Then Seeks to Silence Good

    By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 20th, 2013 at 04:31 AM | 45

In 1987, Andre Sarano took a photograph of Christ on the cross in a jar of urine. It won the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art’s “Awards in the Visual Arts” competition, which was sponsored in part by taxpayers.

Outraged Christians were told they didn’t have to see it. They did not have to go to the museum. Their money, of course, had to fund the National Endowment for the Arts, but they themselves just needed to ignore it. Christians needed to show tolerance to for the diversity of others’ thoughts.

Robert Maplethorpe spent many years touring the United States with artwork depicting, among other things, people drinking urine, bondage and sadomasochism, and a picture of himself with a whip inserted in that part of his body Phil Robertson does not find very attractive.

Conservatives offended by this were instructed to be tolerant, not go to the exhibit, and just turn the other cheek.

In 1996, Chris Ofili created a painting of the Virgin Mary. He pornographic images and elephant dung. Rudy Giuliani, then Mayor of New York City, tried to yank funding for the Brooklyn Museum because of the painting. Giuliani was pilloried in the press for doing so. Tolerance was demanded. Christians did not have to go to the museum if they wanted.

And now we’ve reach a new level.

Phil Robertson is an evangelical Christian. He called sin illogical, stated his preference for women, and lumped gays in with other sinners such as drunks and terrorists. It is that last one that has really caused all the problems. Nevermind that Phil Robertson said Christians are to love everyone and not judge anyone. Nevermind he made it clear he was not condemning anyone. He just stated his belief.

He did not make anyone convert. He did not attack anyone. He did not harass anyone. He answered a question. But the kids at GLAAD, now dominant, have gone from demanding tolerance for all to silencing good people.

Christians were once told they did not have to look or listen. The militant gay rights movement and the secular left will not abide by their own prescription. Those who dissent or think differently must be silenced.

The members of GLAAD, which also took it upon itself to tell America what Christians really should think and believe, could simply not watch Duck Dynasty. But the hysteric whiners can’t leave it at that. They cannot leave well enough alone. They must punish and destroy.

Evil must, when it is able, silence good because good serves as an ever present and ongoing witness against evil.

  194. This excerpt from an article by Amy Goodman of Democracy Now nails Obama for violating rights guaranteed in the Bill of Rights – even while recognizing its historical importance. Bill of Rights was signed 12/15/1791.

    By Amy Goodman

“Adopted on Dec. 15, 1791, the Bill of Rights comprises the first 10 amendments to the Constitution. While praising it last week and ticking through “our most fundamental rights,” President Obama failed to mention the Fourth Amendment. It reads:

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

Perhaps President Obama, the erstwhile constitutional-law professor, should go back and reread that amendment.”

Denis Moynihan contributed research to this column.

  195. Apparently, Harry – the backstabbing, lying, twit – Reid felt Dem senators were not given credit where it was due by Obama. They made recommendations for O-care fixes, and the WH took credit for them.

Reid: White House should have shared credit for O-Care fixes

By Alexander Bolton – 12/19/13 06:00 AM EST

“Democratic senators are unhappy the White House didn’t give them any credit for key fixes to ObamaCare.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) recently reproached President Obama in private on the issue, arguing Obama should have given his colleagues more praise.

“I did communicate to him that there have been things done by the White House that improved the healthcare bill and those fixes were suggested originally by my senators and they got no credit for it. I thought that was improper,” Reid said in an interview Wednesday with The Hill.

Reid didn’t specify what ideas Senate Democrats had offered to the White House.

Obama suggested in public remarks on Oct. 30 that his administration had received little constructive feedback from critics.”

  196. President Obama Orders US Troops to South Sudan

Growing violence and talk of civil war in African nation

President Obama on Thursday announced that he has sent a team of combat-ready soldiers to the country of South Sudan amid growing violence and increasing talk of “civil war” in the African nation.

The death of several UN peacekeeping soldiers this week and reports of large numbers of civilian casualties as fighting intensified between militias and government soldiers on opposite sides of a recent coup attempt have stirred international focus on the country, with Obama telling Congress in a written statement that the recently formed country is “at the precipice” and the UN Security Council scheduled to hold an emergency meeting in New York on Friday to address the worsening situation.

As South Sudan analyst James Copnall writes, the politics of the country are complicated, but “just over two years after it became independent,” with refugees fleeing the violence and over 500 people already reported killed this week, “South Sudan is living out some of its worst fears.”

Though framed as a both a political and ethnic power struggle, one of the clear fault lines in the growing tensions is centered around control of the country’s oil fields that are located in the north, as Reuters indicates:

I see this as good news. It’s clear that those on both the far left and far right are willing to try to force their narrow views on the rest of us, each believing superiority to the masses. Screw them both. Most of us are still capable of thinking for ourselves, and acting without the supervision or guidance of these self-important bullies.

“More voters choose indie label, buck Democrats and GOP”
Catalina Camia, USA TODAY 8:30 p.m. EST December 12, 2013

“Centrist group Third Way says more people are unwilling to call themselves Democrats or Republicans.

Note: This story was updated to correctly reflect Ken Buck’s opponent in the 2010 Senate race in Colorado.

The number of voters who are registering themselves as independents has climbed since 2008 when Democrats were at their high point, according to a new analysis from the centrist Democratic group Third Way.

The latest update in Third Way’s annual look at the electorate shows a jump of nearly 11.2% in independent voter registration from 2008 to 2013 in 24 states and the District of Columbia that keep partisan registration statistics.

Democratic registration is down by 1% and .04% for Republicans during that period, Third Way’s analysis showed. The group provided USA TODAY with an early look at its report.

The findings are a sign that voters have become frustrated with the major parties and don’t want to get bogged down by a party label when filling out a registration form.

“People are unwilling to call themselves Democrats or Republicans,” said Michelle Diggles, a senior policy analyst with Third Way. “They are turned off by what they see politically in D.C.”

  202. “People are unwilling to call themselves Democrats or Republicans,” said Michelle Diggles, a senior policy analyst with Third Way. “They are turned off by what they see politically in D.C.”
If turned off is all they are then there really is no hope.

What we are seeing here is the destruction of a whole way of life that has brought freedom and prosperity to generations of Americans.

If being turned off is the most they can muster in response to all this, then fuck em.

This is not a case of first impression. It happened in Rome, around the first century when the ruling class stopped worrying about the country, and became hedonistic to a fault. The people naturally followed suit. And the poet Julien deplored the situation saying the Roman People, senatus, publicas que romanus on the sword of every legionaire had given up their power to set the course of the nation and settled for only bread and circuses.

How similar to the elites of our day, who take and give nothing back. Who can forget how in the aftermath of the financial collapse of 2008, bankers found ingenious ways to privatize the profits and socialize the losses. These are not the elites of the greatest generation. These are the navel gazers of the 60s.

Of course, big media was in on this betrayal and take down of the middle class. They hid the truth, in their euphoria over Obama. They have been selling a defective product that harms millions of people now for five years. How could anyone be so stupid as to rely on them for accurate information. All they are good for is lies and propaganda.

In any system, there are checks and balances. Obama has destroyed them. He never could have succeed without the lies and duplicity of big media. For me, it is less a question of what he did, and more a case of what big media did, and failed to do to alert the American People, and where appropriate, to stop him.

  203. President Barack Obama dismissed his falling poll numbers and offered an optimistic assessment of 2013 and looked ahead to a “breakthrough year” to come as he spoke at a year-end press conference at the White House.

#Obamacare watch: latest rules openly trampling on the uninsured.

    By: Moe Lane (Diary) | December 20th, 2013 at 06:30 PM | 0

So, here’s Bob Laszewski’s description of the latest way that the Obama administration rewrote the law and tax code:

If you had a health insurance policy that was cancelled, you are now exempt from the individual mandate and its tax penalty should you not decide to buy a replacement policy. In addition, you can now sign up for the very high deductible Catastrophic Plan that was originally reserved only for those under the age of 30.

If you did not have a health insurance policy that was cancelled, you are still subject to the individual mandate and you are not entitled any special treatment toward signing up for the Catastrophic Plan. You must pay the full price for an exchange plan and accept whatever out-of-pocket costs and network limits it might have for the money.

To drill down even further: if you were uninsured before, you still have to buy a policy or be hit with the tax. If you were insured before, you don’t have to buy a policy. In other words: the only people not getting relief from the ongoing walking incompetence carnival that is Obamacare are the very people that we were told that Obamacare was set up to ‘help.’

And why is that? Because that second class of people is rather smaller than the first class, and the first class of people are a). very, very angry and b). more likely to vote. Mind you, Barack Obama’s latest panicky band-aid is unlikely to make them happy, but it might keep enough of them from having a red haze descend upon their vision and go on a wild voting rampage across the country. Hard to say, really: we’ve never had an administration quite as inept at governing as this one.

    Moe Lane (crosspost)

PS: I don’t know where the President got the authority to do all of this, either. I would have thought that the subject might have come up in today’s press conference; alas, the White House press corps thought that it was more important that Barack Obama share with us his New Year’s resolutions. I’d offer some suggestions, except that we’ve had quite enough scatological commentary lately.

  205. PS: I don’t know where the President got the authority to do all of this, either. More proof big media is his partner in crime. They know the problem, refuse to go near it, and call themselves reporters, when all they really are is complete whores who contribute nothing of value. Yes, Obama is a fraud. But big media is a double fraud.

  206. Hard to say, really: we’ve never had an administration quite as inept at governing as this one.
This is what happens when you bring in boat loads of young people with fanatical zeal, delusions of grandeur and zero experience. Just like the great messiah himself.

  207. I have had a running survey on Obama voters here in CA since 2008 and just recently, I have heard from some of the folks that thought he was God’s gift to America:

    – “I really wasn’t that into him, and he has broken too many promises.”

    – “I voted for him, because I would never in my life vote for a Republican.”

    – “He hasn’t done very well, but I don’t want to talk to YOU about it.”

The smile on my face after hearing these long awaited verbal signs of regret, was too difficult to hide.

They were all too afraid somehow I would slip in that dreaded comment, “I told you so!” (You stupid idiot).
