Obama’s ObamaCare Boobery And Iran Deal Treachery: The Good News

Obama’s deliberate destruction of America becomes more obvious every day. Pearl necklace clutchers will moan, groan, and whine about this. But for fighters like us it is a great opportunity to attack and prevail.

For those of us who have seen Obama as the treacherous boob he is from the beginning we mock the hand-wringers and Henny-Penny’s frantically flapping their feathers headlessly. Why do we mock the Chicken Littles? What do we see that can be in any way described as “good”?

We see that now Barack Obama has two bona fide, self-inflicted, death-bringing wounds, afflicting his scrawny political body. It’s not that there weren’t many Obama scandals and treacheries before. There were. But the news ones have traction none of the others had. It can be argued that the earlier scandals led to the present moment when the latest Obama scandals and treacheries hit home.

The self-inflicted ObamaCare catastrophe continues to bleed Obama dry domestically. The Iran deal treachery threatens to eat through his bones on foreign shores.

In line with all recent polls, today a CNN poll shows Obama personal qualities sliding underwater well above his nose. Obama is being eaten alive by his lies and treacheries:

Only four out of 10 Americans believe President Barack Obama can manage the federal government effectively, according to a new national poll.

And a CNN/ORC International survey released Monday morning also indicates that 53% of Americans now believe that Obama is not honest and trustworthy, the first time that a clear majority in CNN polling has felt that way.

According to the survey, conducted last Monday through Wednesday, 40% say the President can manage the government effectively. That 40% figure is down 12 percentage points from June and is the worst score Obama received among the nine personal characteristics tested in the new poll.

“A lot of attention has focused on the President’s numbers on honesty in new polling the past three weeks, but it looks like the recent controversy over Obamacare has had a bigger impact on his status as an effective manager of the government, and that may be what is really driving the drop in Obama’s approval rating this fall,” CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said.

Does being an effective manager count more than honesty?

“Just ask Bill Clinton, whose overall approval ratings remained high during and after the Monica Lewinsky scandal because three-quarters of all Americans thought he could get things done, even though only about one in five said he was honest,” Holland added.

Obama’s woes are not limited to honesty and his managerial skills. Fifty-six percent say he is not a person they admire, and an equal number say he does not agree with them on important issues. Fifty-six percent also say he does not inspire confidence, and 53% don’t view him as a strong and decisive leader. All of those figures are all-time records for Obama in CNN polling.”

Obama’s saggy flaccidity is thus far due to the horror that is ObamaCare. The brain dead DailyKooks will continue to defend ObamaCare but those who want to survive know ObamaCare kills. Increasingly Obama Democrats set to turn on Obama if Healthcare.gov isn’t ready next week and they are taking futile steps to try to live:

“Some Capitol Hill Democrats are preparing to launch broadsides against President Barack Obama if the Affordable Care Act website isn’t fixed by the end of the month.

That will come in the form of more aggressive scrutiny in Republican-led oversight hearings, open advocacy for further delay in the enrollment deadline and individual coverage mandate, and more calls for a staff shake-up in the White House. [snip]

The building frustration — expressed in part Nov. 15 when 39 House Democrats voted for a GOP bill that would have let consumers keep expiring insurance plans — is driven by the fear that Obama’s failed rollout has suddenly left scores of Democrats vulnerable to defeat in the House and Senate. [snip]

Not only are Democrats watching helplessly as visions of taking over the House begin to dissolve, but they increasingly perceive the danger that the Senate could flip into GOP hands and that Obama’s final three years in office could be a total loss for their party’s agenda.

The brain dead will continue to defend ObamaCare and Obama. But the “strategists” are looking at the numbers and even their Hopium addled brains are perceiving what we perceive:

“Some party strategists say they’re in denial.

And that perceived gap between party spin and facts on the ground is fueling worries that the White House and Democratic higher-ups aren’t taking the possible electoral blowback seriously enough or doing enough to shield their candidates. Democratic contenders in the toughest races are distinctly less convinced that Obamacare will fade as an election-year issue — and they can’t afford to just cross their fingers that things get ironed out or that Republicans revert to political hara-kiri. [snip]

Polls, however, suggest Democrats should be worried. A CBS News poll released Wednesday showed Obama with a 37 percent approval rating, his lowest figure ever in that survey. Another all-time low in the poll: approval of Obamacare, which stood at 31 percent.

Republicans are placing their chips on Obamacare as their defining 2014 issue and putting their money where their mouths are. [snip]

We’re trying to deny what everyone knows is happening,” said one Democratic pollster who is a veteran of competitive congressional races. “Anybody who is halfway intelligent knows this is a big … problem for us. It’s impossible not to see. We can try to hide our heads in the sand and pretend it’s not a problem, but it is.”

On the home front, an army of termites is chewing on the foundations of ObamaCare – and has already reduced the massive timbers of deception into wobbly toothpicks. Add to this crumbling edifice, the foreign policy treachery that will destroy the last refuge of second term presidencies.

Barack Obama’s treachery against Israel is no surprise to us. In late October 2012 we wrote:

For Israel, it’s about paying with their lives when Obama is more “flexible” after the election – if he wins. Ohio voters have to keep that in mind.

Israel has been completely surprised by the announcement this weekend that “no preconditions” Obama has agreed to “talks” with Iran. Obama frequently made the assertion that he was keeping Israel not only informed but consulted as to actions that affect Israeli lives. But Israel is once again victimized by Obama treachery. It’s an October surprise of treachery which had better be discussed by Mitt Romney at tomorrow’s foreign policy debate.

As of now, it is clear “nobody owning up to US-Iran talks story“. We expect Mitt Romney will make Obama own up to this latest treachery.

Obama promised Hope and Change in 2008. Only Iran now has Hope – Hope that their nuclear status will Change followed by a charred Israel. Israel is in great danger and we hope that consideration is made by Ohio voters and all Americans as they weigh their vote on the economy and jobs.”

“Nailed it” is the term used for such predictive powers. Mitt Romney failed to do what he needed to do but even if he had there were too many ears not willing to listen. Many of us tried to get the truth out. We knew Obama for the treacherous monster he is and wrote about it when many dared only the politest of words.

In June of 2009 we did not use polite words as we tied Barack Obama and his Jew-baiting to the historic treachery of the Sudetenland:

“Not since the days of the Völkischer Beobachter has the world witnessed the tolerance for Jew baiting in the Big Media gossip sheets and in the American government.

The Jew baiting is taking place in the context of Barack Obama’s speech last week when he parroted Arab theories against Israel, as Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu prepares to deliver a response speech on Sunday, and as Iran votes on Friday.

The context for Obama’s speech and this week’s events is that there is, among many Americans and citizens of many nations, the notion that Israel is screwing the world and dreams of peace for their own narrow (self-preservation) interests. This notion, shared by many non-Jews and even many Jews (mostly those safely ensconced in the West Side of Manhattan and other precincts in New York City) is that if only Israel would cooperate and stop its silly self-preservation notions the celestial choirs would sing out and there would be peace in the Middle East region. Folly.

This magic wand philosophy is more properly termed a “Sudentenland” mentality – this time the calls are aimed at the existence of the Jewish state of Israel.”

We now know how those Iranian elections turned out and can see the uncloaked Obama hatred of Israel. The difference is that now even in the West Side precincts of Obama loving Jews the stench of truth, like the acrid smoke of the Auschwitz ovens, can be smelled. Via video: Schumer not exactly thrilled with the Obama-Kerry Iran deal:

NY Senator Chuck Schumer assured pro-Israel Jews, Sunday evening, that Democrats and Republicans are untied to stop President Obama from easing the sanctions on Iran, until Iran destroys its nuclear capabilities and gets rid of all centrifuges and enriched uranium.

Treacherous 2×4 Schumer is getting a graduate course in Treachery by Professor of Treachery Barack Obama. Israel is in grave danger:

Jeffrey Goldberg, always willing to find a friendly mask to place over Obama’s treacherous face, sees the Obama Iran hand clasp for what it is even though Goldberg’s delusions about Obama are still intact:

“U.S. President Barack Obama has had two overarching goals in the Iran crisis. The first was to stop the Iranian regime from gaining possession of a nuclear weapon. The second was to prevent Israel from attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities.

This weekend, the president achieved one of these goals. He boxed-in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu so comprehensively that it’s unimaginable Israel will strike Iran in the foreseeable future. Netanyahu had his best chance to attack in 2010 and 2011, and he missed it. He came close but was swayed by Obama’s demand that he keep his planes parked. It would be a foolhardy act — one that could turn Israel into a true pariah state, and bring about the collapse of sanctions and possible war in the Middle East — if Israel were to attack Iran now, in the middle of negotiations.”

We know that Netanyahu is in a very difficult position. We don’t think Netanyahu will attack Iran alone. But that does not mean that we believe Netanyahu and Israel will not attack. What Goldberg does not want to admit is that Obama’s treachery does not only threaten Israel. There are others.

There are many aware of Obama’s treachery and the danger Obama poses to international order. Obama loves chaos. Just as the fools that voted for Obama and ObamaCare are learning not to trust Obama but to oppose Obama – the world at large, threatened by Obama is learning how treacherous Obama is and the danger Obama poses:

“World Doubts Obama Will Enforce Red Line on Iran

World leaders say President Obama’s credibility to enforce the deadline has been badly damaged.

The interim nuclear deal struck on Sunday morning avoids outright confrontation with Iran for six months, but foreign leaders and international experts warned that the gamble over reaching a final deal could substantially raise the risk of open conflict.

Over 200 officials, lawmakers, and experts from more than 50 countries were meeting at the Halifax International Security Forum as news broke over the weekend, many suggested that President Obama’s credibility to stop Iran from going nuclear after the deadline if no final deal is reached had been badly damaged by his wavering red lines on Syria. [snip]

If there’s no final deal, the prospects of war will rise and a weakened Obama administration will be less able to prevent it.

“My worry is not over the next six months,” said Dov Zakheim, former undersecretary of Defense in the Bush administration. “The problem to me is that the president has once again laid out another red line and his track record with red lines is ambiguous. The red line this time is the six months.”

“What happens if nothing more is achieved after the six month period or Iran cheats and nobody does anything about it? If either of those things happen, I believe the Israelis will attack,” he said. [snip]

Obama previously set a red line regarding Syria, warning that the use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime would trigger an international response. Following the Aug. 21 chemical weapons attack there that killed over 1,400 Syrians, Obama decided to launch limited military strikes against Syria and then reversed himself when Syria agreed to give up its chemical weapons capabilities.

Several foreign officials said that the Syrian red line episode had eroded the Obama administration’s credibility around the world, which raises questions over promises made about Iran.

When you draw red lines and then they are crossed and you don’t do anything about it, two things happen: Your enemies become emboldened and your allies become less sure,” said British Member of Parliament Liam Fox, a former Secretary of State for Defence. “That’s been the problem.”

Moshe Ya’alon, Israel’s Minister of Defense, said America’s actions throughout the Arab Spring, including Obama’s failure to enforce his Syria red line, have created the impression that the West is not willing or able to confront Iran and its Shiite Muslim allies, who are bent on expanding their regional influence and pursuing a nuclear capability despite any interim deal.

“According to the Sunni Arab camp, the West is in retreat… According to the Iranian perspective, the West is the Great Satan America. In this regard, the West should be defeated, according to the Iranian ideology,” he said. “Regarding the deal, they feel like there is weakness on behalf of the West which might be exploited by them to defeat the West.”

During Obama’s Syria buffoonery the claim he made was that he did not draw the red line, that the world drew the red line when it banned chemical weapons. But with the Iran deal Obama betrays international law:

“Iran is correct, the agreement is a de facto recognition of its “right” to enrich uranium.

Protests by the administration – Secretary of State John Kerry in particular – that the deal does not recognize a “right” of Iran to enrich uranium are Obamacare-style lies, false for what they leave out.

The deal, as Kerry contends, does not explicitly recognize a “right.” But it clearly does so implicitly. [snip]

Final deal allows enrichment. Just a matter of how much.

Here’s why this is so incredibly significant.

Allowing Iran to enrich is contrary to UN resolutions and U.S. policy. It’s a big concession, even before the most serious talks have started. It gets us to the table – by giving away the chair.

What this means is that from now on – forever – the United States and the UN will be forced to try to keep tabs on an enrichment program and ensure that Iran does not achieve the “breakout” point it’s already so close to.

How do you do that? You can’t. For Iran to be deprived on a nuclear weapon, it has to be deprived of the materials and processes to make one. The Iranians know that with an enrichment program in place, they’ll eventually, one way or another, get nuclear-grade material.

Israel knows all this. Israel also knows that perhaps the only way to destroy the Hitler bunkers of nuclear materials is to use tactical nuclear weapons. So Israel is restrained. Israel realizes it cannot attack alone. But Israel is not alone. Barack Obama and the United States have abandoned Israel. But there is another:

“Iran nuclear deal: Saudi Arabia warns it will strike out on its own Saudi Arabia claims they were kept in the dark by Western allies over Iran nuclear deal and says it will strike out on its own

A senior advisor to the Saudi royal family has accused its Western allies of deceiving the oil rich kingdom in striking the nuclear accord with Iran and said Riyadh would follow an independent foreign policy.

Nawaf Obaid told a think tank meeting in London that Saudi Arabia was determined to pursue its own foreign and policy goals. Having in the past been reactive to events, the leading Sunni Muslim nation was determined to be pro-active in future.

Mr Obaid said that while Saudi Arabia knew that the US was talking directly to Iran through a channel in the Gulf state of Oman, Washington had not directly briefed its ally.

We were lied to, things were hidden from us,” he said.”

Saudi Arabia once was a military weakling. No longer:

“The RSAF has developed from a largely defensive military force into one with an advanced offensive capability. The RSAF maintains the third largest fleet of F-15s after the USAF and the JASDF.”

The Saudi Air Force and the Israeli Air Defense forces constitute sufficient air power to attack Iran successfully. The economics of Iranian retaliation against Israel and oil rich Saudi Arabia would force the European powers and the United States to move from collaboration with Iran to protection of Israel and Saudi Arabia. Of course this is just a fantasy on our part, right?:

“Officals: Israelis in secret trip to inspect Saudi bases. Could be used as staging ground for strikes against Iran

TEL AVIV — Israeli personnel in recent days were in Saudi Arabia to inspect bases that could be used as a staging ground to launch attacks against Iran, according to informed Egyptian intelligence officials.

The officials said Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan and other Arab and Persian Gulf countries have been discussing the next steps toward possible strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites.

The officials said the U.S. passed strong messages to Israel and the Saudis that the Americans control radar capabilities over the skies near Iran and that no strike should be launched without permission from the Obama administration.

It was unclear whether the purported visit to Saudi Arabia by Israeli military and intelligence officials signals any real preparation for a strike or if the trip was meant to keep pressure on the West amid Israeli fears about the current deal with Tehran.

The trip came prior to the announcement today of the deal with Western powers that aims to halt key parts of Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.

At a cabinet meeting in Jerusalem today, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slammed what he called a “bad” and “dangerous” deal, while affirming that Israel will not allow Iran to go nuclear.

Israel is not obligated by this agreement,” Netanyahu said. “I want to make clear we will not allow Iran to obtain military nuclear capability.

Saudi Arabia united with it’s most hated enemy? Impossible right? Right?

As Obama’s ObamaCare crumbles at home, Obama’s treacheries abroad unite old enemies. That’s good news.

  1. Obama drowning in IOWA …… 34% approval, let that sink in.

Another possible GOP pickup in the Senate…..new Iowa poll is drowning the democrats with Ocare.

    http://www.conservativeintel.com/2013/11/25/new-iasen-poll-obamacares-dead-weight-could-tip-the-scale-in-iowa-senate-race/

Iowans, who played a vital role in elevating Barack Obama to the presidency, don’t think highly of his performance now, nor of Obamacare. Their attitude could help turn the state’s sleeper of a 2014 Senate race into a real GOP pickup opportunity, a new Conservative Intel poll suggests.

The survey of 985 likely Iowa voters, conducted on November 23 and 24 by Harper Polling, finds the likely Democratic nominee, U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley, with a slim lead against all comers. But despite a near-total lack of name recognition among the Republicans in this race, each of them holds Braley in the low 40s, and some trail within the margin of error in head-to-head matchups.

The poll also finds a slight Republican lead on the generic Senate ballot, 42 to 38 percent.

Contrast this to July, when Public Policy Polling tested Iowa’s open-seat Senate race and found Braley winning each matchup by between 9 and 13 points, and sitting comfortably in the mid-40s.

The Iowa race has been categorized as a Republican recruitment failure, and the new Conservative Intel poll bolsters that characterization. For each of the five GOP candidates tested, between 75 and 85 percent of likely Iowa voters have either “never heard of” them or have yet to form an opinion. But some of these no-name candidates are already nipping at the heels of Braley, who has a favorable/unfavorable rating of 33% to 28%.

Against former U.S. Attorney Matthew Whitaker, Braley leads 41 to 38 percent.
Against business executive Mark Jacobs, Braley leads 41 to 37 percent.
Against radio host Sam Clovis, Braley leads, 40 to 35 percent.
Against State Sen. Joni Ernst, Braley leads 42 to 36 percent.
Against former Chuck Grassley staffer David Young, Braley leads 41 to 35 percent.

For any given GOP candidate, between 53 percent (Jacobs) and 65 percent (Young) of voters have never even heard of them; in each case, an additional 20 to 30 percent have heard of the candidate but have yet to form an opinion. In contrast, just over 60 percent of voters already have an opinion of Braley.

The candidates in this race are vying to replace retiring Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa. This is the first Conservative Intel poll of this race, so there are no trends to share over time. But this race has been widely assumed to favor Democrats, and largely overlooked in favor of more promising GOP pickup opportunities in states like Arkansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, and Alaska.

If the Iowa race seems closer than conventional wisdom dictates, this poll contains hints that the latest round of Obamacare implementation, which began October 1, could be playing a role.

The poll finds that likely Iowa voters disapprove of Obamacare, 54 to 34 percent, and that 52 percent say they are more likely to vote for an Obamacare opponent, versus 39 percent who say they are more likely to vote for an Obamacare supporter.

President Obama himself suffers a 21-point approval deficit in Iowa, with 55 percent disapproving of his performance and only 34 percent approving.

  2. Thanks for the good news MoonOnPluto.

HotAir asks: Will congressional Democrats destroy Obama’s Iran deal?

    http://hotair.com/archives/2013/11/25/will-congressional-democrats-destroy-obamas-iran-deal/

They cite a report from Obama Journolister Greg Sargent desperately trying to save the treacherous deal:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2013/11/25/the-morning-plum-dems-should-give-iran-deal-a-chance/

“Less than a day after the news broke that a deal has been reached putting a temporary hold on Iran’s nuclear program, influential Senate Democrats immediately moved to cast doubt on the compromise, predicting Dems would pass a new round of sanctions on Iran. One core question is not just whether Dems will pass sanctions, but whether they would take hold before the deal’s six month deadline. The White House fears both outcomes, but the latter one even more.

Senator Chuck Schumer criticized the deal for revoking sanctions that were responsible for forcing Iran to reach a deal in the first place, and predicted that it was now “more likely that Democrats and Republicans will join together and pass additional sanctions when we return in December.” Senator Robert Menendez, however, seemed to offer a key nuance, claiming any Senate action would “provide for a six month window to reach a final agreement before imposing new sanctions.”

A senior Senate Dem aide declined to rule out the possibility that Dems could pass sanctions that take hold before the six month deadline. When I asked if that was still possible, the aide said: “Don’t know yet,” adding that it might not be “possible to get a new round of sanctions up and running faster than that.” Sanctions legislation that takes hold before or after the six month mark remains a real possibility. (Update: The senior aide adds that it is “unlikely” that sanctions could be put in place before the six month expiration.) [snip]

As it is, the Obama administration is wary of additional Senate-imposed sanctions that would kick in even after six months. [snip]

That’s not an easy balance to strike politically, and indeed, Politico reports that Dem Congressional aides are in no mood to play along with it. “Six months is all Iran will have,” one Congressional staffer tells Politico. “Obama might get his six months — but the day after six months will not be a good day for a still nuclear obsessed Iran.

  3. Yeah thats about right….

Obama at DNC funder: People say “sign an executive order and nullify Congress,” but there’s this thing called the Constitution

Obama said he can’t sign an Executive Order to nullify Congress, though Dem donors applauded the concept that he should.

    …………………….

    Tells you a lot.

  4. ObamaCare destroying itself:

    http://nalert.blogspot.com/2013/11/cnn-analysis-no-obamacare-subsidy-for.html

CNN analysis: No Obamacare subsidy for some low-income Americans

CNN on the scam that keeps on giving! Thought you might get a subsidy if you make less than $46,000 to purchase ObamaCare??? You might not:

One of the basic tenets of Obamacare is that the government will help lower-income Americans — anyone making less than about $45,900 a year — pay for the health insurance everyone is now mandated to have.

But a CNN analysis shows that in the largest city in nearly every state, many low-income younger Americans won’t get any subsidy at all. Administration officials said the reason so many Americans won’t receive a subsidy is that the cost of insurance is lower than the government initially expected. Subsidies are calculated using a complicated formula based on the cost of insurance premiums, which can vary drastically from state to state, and even county to county.

That doesn’t change the fact that in Chicago, a 27-year old will receive no subsidy to help offset premiums of more than $165 a month if he makes more than $27,400 a year.

You want to watch the video and read this one. ObamaCare needs 38% of the pool to be young. Who knew that federal tax credits aren’t uniform but based on where someone lives! Justice Roberts and Strongman Obama sure did re-write the U.S. Constitution. Goodbye 14th Amendment.

    http://www.cnn.com/2013/11/22/politics/obamacare-subsidies

Back in April, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told a congressional subcommittee that any individual making under that $45,960 threshold — or four times the poverty level of $11,490 for an individual — would qualify for “an upfront tax subsidy.”

“Somebody who’s making $25,500 would definitely qualify for a subsidy if he or she is purchasing coverage in the individual market,” Sebelius added.

Despite the secretary’s assurance, a 25-year-old living in Nashville, Tennessee, making $25,500 will not qualify for a subsidy, for example.

  5. Piggy backing on that devastating CNN report which discusses California – here’s more on California:

    http://healthpolicyandmarket.blogspot.com/2013/11/trying-to-make-sense-of-covered.html

Trying to Make Sense of the Covered California Numbers
I’ve read a number of reports in recent days gushing over the progress Covered California is making leading the nation in signing up people for Obamacare.

But, I am having trouble understanding how the numbers should make anyone gush with enthusiasm.

Covered California, the state health insurance exchange, has a goal of enrolling 500,000 to 700,000 subsidy eligible Californians by March 31, 2014.

Covered California just announced that it would proceed with its original plan to cancel 1.1 million existing individual policies (their estimate)––80% of them by December 31. Covered California also just said that 510,000 of them would qualify for a subsidy.

The only place a Californian can buy a policy with a subsidy is on the Covered California state exchange.

So, it would certainly seem that the only way those 510,000 people can continue their coverage and get a subsidy is to sign-up on the California health insurance exchange––80% of them by December 23.

So, if only the canceled policyholders who are subsidy eligible replace their canceled policies Covered California will make the lower end of its entire 2014 enrollment goal. Doesn’t sound like much of a stretch goal for them.

Besides the 1.1 million who have lost their policies because of cancellation, Covered California has estimated that 5.3 million Californians are uninsured and eligible to purchase coverage on the state exchange––about half with subsidies.

Covered California is spending $250 million in federal grant money on a two-year “outreach” campaign to get people signed up. Covered California has been awarded a total of $910 million in federal grants to fund its operations and outreach. New York, the second highest state, has received $400 million.

Through mid-November, Covered California has enrolled about 80,000 people. Its director characterized his state’s enrollment saying, “We’re seeing much larger numbers than we expected.”

The Washington Post, in a story headlined “There’s a ‘November Surge’ in Obamacare Enrollments,” reported, “California led the bunch [state-run exchanges]; the state’s enrollments have grown steadily in November and now account for nearly a full third of all health law sign-ups. The state has had its strongest two weeks of enrollment this month.”

    So, let’s summarize:

California has 5.3 million uninsured eligible to buy in the exchange with half estimated to be subsidy eligible.
California is cancelling another 1.1 million people of which Covered California has estimated 510,000 qualify for a subsidy they can only get if they go to Covered California. At least 80% need to act by December 23 to avoid losing their coverage.
The state is spending $250 million in federal money to get people signed up––dramatically more than any other state.
The Covered California goal is to sign-up 500,000 to 700,000 subsidy eligible people by March 31.

Why should we be so impressed with Covered California because they have signed-up 80,000 people so far? Or, even that their goal is to sign-up 500,000 to 700,000 of the state’s 6.4 million people––half subsidy eligible––who are uninsured or having their insurance canceled?

Looking at these numbers, if they don’t have well more than 500,000 people signed up by December 31, I would have to think the number of uninsured in California would have grown.

    Am I missing something here?

  6. Rocky Mountain Low:

    http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_24593942/board-strife-colorado-exchange-far-behind-projected-enrollment

“Board strife as Colorado exchange far behind projected enrollment

Enrollment in the Affordable Care Act through Colorado’s health insurance exchange is barely half the state’s worst-case projection, prompting demands from exchange board members for better stewardship of public money.

The shortfall could compromise the exchange’s “ability to deliver on promises made to Colorado citizens” and threatens the funding stream for the exchange itself, according to board e-mails obtained by The Denver Post in an open records request.

The exchange, meant for individuals and small groups buying insurance, had projected a lowest-level mid-November enrollment of 11,108, in a presentation to a board finance committee. The exchange announced Nov. 18 that it had signed up 6,001 Coloradans so far.

The midlevel scenario for November was 20,186 members, and the highest projection 30,944 members.

As federal startup grants taper off under Obamacare funding, the exchange is meant to pay for itself with per-member charges on the private insurance companies offering policies. It needs 136,300 enrollees in 2014 to raise $6.5 million of its $51.4 million expenses.

Significant operational issues are not being addressed in the wake of bumpy local and national startups for Obamacare, said board member Ellen Daehnick, whose e-mails and comments are sharply critical of board leadership.

The enrollment numbers are not meeting the projections,” Daehnick said in an interview. “They are behind even the low projections. This board has moved from looking at a plan to looking at actual performance that has not met expectations, at least from my perspective.”

  7. Shadowfax, we’d love to hear that phone call. We imagine Obama gloating and long silences from Netanyahu. Then, KaBoom.

    Video at link

    http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2013/11/25/Source-Netanyahu-Scolded-Obama-in-Phone-Call-on-Iran-Deal

“The prime minister made it clear to the most powerful man on earth that if he intends to stay the most powerful man on earth, it’s important to make a change in American policy because the practical result of his current policy is liable to lead him to the same failure that the Americans absorbed in North Korea and Pakistan, and Iran could be next in line.”

  8. How did this asshole ever make Gov.

    http://washingtonexaminer.com/former-montana-gov.-brian-schweitzer-if-we-cozy-up-to-iran-well-be-energy-independent/article/2539779

Former Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer: If we cozy up to Iran, we’ll be energy independent

Former Democratic Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer shared a rather odd conclusion about America’s treaty with Iran during his appearance Sunday on MSNBC.

“What’s interesting is not that we are going to have a treaty with Iran, it’s going to tip the balance away from the Saudis and the Egyptians to the Persians, the enemies for the last 3,000 years to the Arabs,” he said, pointing out that he had lived in the Middle East for seven years. “Big changes are happening in the Middle East. If we cozy up to Iran, we are not going to need Saudis anymore. We will be energy independent.”

Schweitzer made his remarks during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Up with Steve Kornacki” on Sunday.

    ……………

and this guy wants to run in 2016..no thanks.

FARMINGTON — Officials from the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange have reached out to communities throughout the state to explain the exchange and new insurance plans, periodically holding seminars in San Juan County.

But many of those seminars have been sparsely attended. A free health insurance exchange seminar and dinner scheduled last week in Bloomfield was cancelled due to a lack of response.

“We advertised for three weeks before, put it on our reader board and hand-delivered invitations to various doctor’s offices and small businesses,” said Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce President Janet Mackey. “We only had seven people RSVP, and since we were also going to be providing dinner, we thought with so few people it would be a waste of resources.”

Only 10 people attended a separate seminar in Wednesday at the Courtyard by Marriott in Farmington.

New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange, or NMIX, hosted the seminar, along with the Association of Commerce and Industry and the New Mexico Restaurant Association.

Barbara Lardner, an NMHIX insurance broker in Belen, helped lead the seminar. She explained the exchange is for people who don’t have insurance, can’t afford insurance through their employer or buy their own insurance and want more options. It is also for small businesses with 50 or fewer employees.

  11. Covered California Numbers

The only thing that seems to be working for CA is the website.

Let’s see how many freeloaders that thought they would get free health care are going to sign up if they have to pay for insurance.

The place in CA that I work for sent out an email to everyone that at least 8 of the health plans that they used to offer are being canceled and people have until tomorrow to make a decision on the other four that are still around or are new. The news ones are super expensive.

  12. …just wondering…

…after Oprah made her recent statements in London about racists in America…I am just wondering has Oprah had one word to say about the gangs of black young men that are playing “knock out” upon innocent people across the USA???

btw…Has MO had one word to say about the young blacks that are attacking innocent and elderly people…young black boys that are attacking innocent people ‘just for the fun of it’???

    http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/11/22/3773164/10-year-old-killed-man-shot-during.html

…or have either Oprah or MO or BO had one word to say to the parents of the 10 year old that was murdered this weekend in his father’s nail salon by two young black thugs?

    …see the video for yourself…

this kind of stuff goes on multiple times a day in Miami…

I am so sick of hearing about racism and profiling…of course people are going to profile when you have gangs of kids just trying to knock out people and kill them for the hell of it…are we suppose to just ignore that behavior and ‘not notice it’?

what about the racism in that? that too many black kids just go out an target white, asian and jewish innocent people for nothing…

this makes my blood boil…especially since there are many great young black boys and girls…many good kids…but where are the leaders when too many of the boys especially are running around doing awful…really awful…violent and murderous things…and even doing them to other black kids…

Oprah, MO and BO do all of these kids no favors by ignoring the depravity of some of their actions…and not calling them out on it…and instead just accusing everyone else of being racist…

everyone should just take a look in the mirror…before they accuse someone else of behavior that they may be inadvertantly condoning with excuses…

…sorry, but i just watched that 10 year old’s father in tears over losing his son…the two black kids just killed the boy for no reason…it makes me sick…

  15. Democrats at war — bailing on Obama

    [snip]

The Democratic Party is ripped to tatters. The fake lovefest that broke out after Hillary Rodham Clinton wandered off into the wilderness in June 2008 is over. She’s back, and so is her troublemaking husband (who last week advised President Obama to “honor” his commitment on keeping your health insurance — and he knows about honor).

More, no one is afraid of the party’s top cop. Nearly 40 Dems bailed on him to support the “Keep Your Health Plan Act of 2013” just a day after Bubba made his pronouncement. They weren’t worried in the least about fallout or retribution. They were busy saving their own skins — which meant breaking hard from the president.

Now, here’s the thing: Republicans, contrary to media reports, were never confused about Obamacare. Not one voted for the bill Mr. Obama signed into law in 2010. That means RINOs, lefty-middle righties, conservatives, tea partyers, moderates, even mavericks — the whole big tent — stood as one in opposition to a law they knew was insanity. No dissension there.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Blue Dog Democrats, moderate lefties, Reagan D’s — the middle left — had Obamacare shoved down their throats. They ate Obamacare because they had to: The party as a whole was moving left, hard, and they had one choice — go with them, or be left behind. So, they voted en masse for Obamacare.

But everything’s changing now, fast. At stake: In the short term, the makeup of the Senate. In the long term, much more: The future of liberalism.

Obamacare (a term which, not surprisingly, the White House last week suddenly stopped using, opting for “Affordable Care Act”), is the pinnacle of liberalism. The government will take over one-sixth of the U.S. economy and make all your decisions for you. And don’t worry: your most personal information is safe with us (just ask the National Security Agency).

The hard-core left loves the ACA, warts and all. But the moderate wing of the party — yes, there are still some moderate Democrats left — is now in full dither over the rollout debacle. While the rabid lefties want to move full-speed ahead with the government takeover of well, everything moderates see danger at the polls, especially in the coming second mid-term elections, when the party of the incumbent president almost always loses seats in Congress.

What they, the worriers, see is simple: The Obamacare story has legs. By month’s end, the website is supposed to work; it won’t. By year’s end, millions are supposed to be signed up; they won’t be. The end of March 2014 is the deadline for enrollment; how soon until Mr. Obama moves that back?

“Here we are, we’re supposed to be selling this to people, and it’s all screwed up,” one lawmaker’s chief of staff told The Hill last week. “This either gets fixed or this could be the demise of the Democratic Party.”

  16. Obamacare and the Bursting Dam

    [snip]

The true depth of problems with the ACA tech infrastructure is coming out, thanks largely to the Republicans in Congress fulfilling their oversight role, obtaining and releasing documents. This, in turn, has started the Great Finger Pointing of who is to blame for what will likely be the most public and visible US information technology failure to date, and all parties involved have turned to the media to air grievances and get out in front of the blame.

  18. Israel has been completely surprised by the announcement this weekend that “no preconditions” Obama has agreed to “talks” with Iran. Obama frequently made the assertion that he was keeping Israel not only informed but consulted as to actions that affect Israeli lives. But Israel is once again victimized by Obama treachery
    ————————
The good thing about the hard core totalitarian left is they do not reverse themselves– they simply pivot. And they never get stuck in a groove–they merely evolve. Case in point–Big Media’s dearly beloved Messiah. Think back five years and you will take my meaning.

When Hillary sat down with the Israelis and the Palestinians to attempt to negotiate a settlement that would bring peace and stability to the region, Obama decided, out of the blue, to announce that before the negotiations could commence, Israel would have to retreat to its pre-1967 borders. This stupid act of intervention altered the balance of power in those negotiations, and scuttled them. Territorial concessions were to have been the last step in the negotiations, the carrot, to be played if and only if the agreement as a whole was satisfactory.

In the case of Iran, however, Obama has imposed no pre-conditions to negotiation. In due course, GE will get a contract with Iran, and in exchange Iran will get the breathing room to develop the bomb. That is the bottom line here. Obama will talk about them helping fight terrorism, cosmetic inspections, and how the Supreme Leader made him his honorary son. But the real deal here is to reward his contributors. The rest is just bread and circuses. The American People have no voice therefore we will get harvested, with the aid of big media–the permanent enemy.

  19. Confronted with problems, he (Obama) defaults to one of two options: total domination or total surrender. The result is that he is a Caesar wannabe at home and a Chamberlain abroad. As he stiff-arms Republicans and most of the media, he seems ready to accept a nuclear-armed Iran.

More and more people are realizing that Obama’s idea of unity is that everybody must agree with him, and that he has no tolerance for those who don’t. Yet he responds to this awakening by digging himself deeper into a partisan hole.

Historians, I believe, will conclude that his refusal to roll up his sleeves and honestly engage critics was a character flaw that morphed into a political strategy. Despite the flowery promises to unite the country, or maybe because of them, he boxed himself into a pose of being above politics. His aggrandizing self-regard and contempt for others leaves him incapable of routine compromise

Today turned out to be a great day in the annals of o-idiots seeing the light. Admin referenced 2 posts that I referenced during the ’12 campaign highlighting the fact that Israel should be wary of bumbles. Surrounded by my brothers in blackness, I was laughed out of the room and dismissed as a rabble-rouser. I was told that bumble’s foreign policy rivaled that of Eisenhower. I mean come on, he was going to bring the middle east together. I even heard the faint argument that Hillary could have done more in the Middle East to work towards peace.

I got three phone calls today. Three people that basically said that they READ what the deal between us and Iran is, and they couldn’t understand how someone that says they do NOT want Iran to develop a nuclear weapon would allow Iran to continue to develop the pieces of a nuclear weapon.

There was no listing in the Guinness Book of World Record for number of times that ‘…didn’t I tell you this would happen?…’ was used in a 5 minute period.

Of course for such a sum of all these presidents, gentry white liberals got renditions and drones and the NSA along with the war on civil liberties as well as the surveillance state, the black middle class is being decimated, young black unemployment is rising, his young deluded supporters are having their pockets picked, the economy is not lifting boats but rather sinking and killing everyone in the boat, the countries that celebrated him as the Germans did in Berlin are now wary and astounded at his incompetence, his great ObamaCare victory is a great victory for his opponents, faith and trust in government threatens the entire liberal philosophy of the competent technocratic state guiding the nation towards enlightenment, the Russians get nuclear arms reduction for nothing and Iran gets nuclear proliferation in violation of Security Council resolutions, international law, American policy and common sense, our allies are attacked by the American government whether it is Egypt, Israel, or Britain, race relations are bottom of the barrel, red states are redder, blue states are bluer and it sometimes seems there is no United States of America. And things are only going to get worse.

You’d better start speaking faster because next year in a 5 minute period you will have to cram in a lot more “…didn’t I tell you this would happen?….”

  25. I have been reading the Bible the past month, and I came across this tonight. This is taken from Ecclesiastes 10:12 – 13:

The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself. The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness; and the end of his talk is mischievous madness.

  28. Obama FBI Partners with Left-Wing Extremist Group

The magnitude of this Obama administration’s “progressive” radicalism becomes more evident with each passing day. In recent months, there has been a drastic spike in acts of both anti-Christian and anti-conservative discrimination and intimidation on military bases across the country. This mounting harassment is not being carried out at the hands of regular enlisted folk but, rather, at the hands of high-ranking officials who, in their official capacity, are targeting Christian and conservative organizations and individuals in an effort to silence them.

It has long been suspected that the Obama administration is using propaganda circulated by the roundly discredited Southern Poverty Law Center, or SPLC, a left-wing extremist group that, in recent years, has adopted two primary goals: 1) raising truckloads of money and 2) smearing as “domestic hate groups” dozens of mainstream Christian ministries like the Family Research Council, or FRC, and the American Family Association, or AFA.

This suspicion has now been verified.

The problem on military bases has gotten so bad, in fact, that the U.S. Congress is demanding answers from the Pentagon. Recently, the AFA-affiliated OneNewsNow.com newsgroup reported that “Congressman Alan Nunnelee (R-Mississippi) is 1 of 38 members of Congress signing off on a letter to the Secretary of the Army – especially about an incident last month at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, in which the Tupelo-based American Family Association was labeled in Army training material as a ‘hate group.’ The Army initially claimed it was an isolated incident.

“‘But as we looked into it, [we found] this is not an isolated incident,’ Nunnelee [told] OneNewsNow. ‘There are a number of cases where the Army has singled out the American Family Association and other Christian organizations as hate groups, and service men and women have been threatened with sanctions if they support these groups.”

Good Grief… Woman From WH Obamacare Ad Forced to Drop Health Insurance for Employees (Video)

    http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2013/11/woman-from-obamacare-ad-forced-to-drop-insurance-for-her-employees-video/

New Hampshire business owner Nancy Clark appeared in White House ads pushing Obamacare, or what she called “Nancy-care.”
“The health care law is for people like me, It’s “Nancy-care.”

The ad is still posted at the White House website.

Unfortunately, due to the high costs of the plans offered, Nancy was forced to drop insurance coverage for her employees this year.

    NHPR reported:

Nancy Clark had high hopes when the federal insurance marketplace opened for business Oct. 1. A member of the NH Health Exchange Advisory Board and a strong supporter of the Affordable Care Act, Clark owns Glen Group, a small advertising agency in North Conway. She’s always offered health insurance to employees and their families, even as premiums increased by double digits every year.

“We’ve turned down the heat, the lights,” she says. “But we never, ever took health care off the table.

    Until now.

When Anthem told Clark premiums for her eight employees would go up 39 percent in 2014, she checked out the plans available through the Small Business Health Options Program, where companies with fewer than 50 employees can shop for group coverage. Those plans were less expensive, but would still increase Clark’s premiums by 14 percent.

Clark then compared the price of individual policies available at Healthcare.gv to what she currently offers. She figured she could save 13 percent, or about $15,000, by discontinuing her group plan. She told her employees to pick a policy offered on the marketplace, and she’ll increase their pay to cover half the cost of the premiums.

    …………..

    Good luck with that.

  35. IPAB is the most dramatic example of President Obama’s approach to government by expert decree, but much of the rest of his domestic program, from the Dodd-Frank financial-reform law to his economic agenda, is substantially similar. In total, it amounts to that fundamental transformation of American society that President Obama promised as a candidate: but instead of the new birth of hope and change, it is the transformation of a constitutional republic operating under laws passed by democratically accountable legislators into a servile nation under the management of an unaccountable administrative state. The real import of Barack Obama’s political career will be felt long after he leaves office, in the form of a permanently expanded state that is more assertive of its own interests and more ruthless in punishing its enemies. At times, he has advanced this project abetted by congressional Democrats

  36. Iran Deal: Myths vs. Facts

Email Article Print article Send a Tip
by Ben Shapiro 25 Nov 2013 151 post a comment
According to the wisest members of the left, including President Obama, the new deal with Iran will stifle Iran’s nuclear program. President Obama pledged, in his Saturday night address to the nation, that “we have halted the progress of the Iranian nuclear program,” and added that “key parts of the program will be rolled back.” On Monday, Obama told a crowd in San Francisco, “We cannot rule out peaceful solutions to the world’s problems. We cannot commit ourselves to an endless cycle of conflict.”

The deal is, according to The New York Times, a no-brainer: “no one can seriously argue that it doesn’t make the world safer.”

The problem is this: the deal that the Obama administration and its allies in the press are presenting to the world is a mythical one. Here, then, are the major deal points, and the flaws in them:

“The goal for these negotiations is to reach a mutually-agreed long-term comprehensive solution that would ensure Iranˈs nuclear program will be exclusively peaceful.”

Myth: The agreement is a step forward in that it bars Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Fact: The agreement explicitly allows Iran to develop nuclear capabilities in violation of United Nations resolutions, giving Iran the leeway to lie about its use of fissile material.

“From the existing uranium enriched to 20%, retain half as working stock of 20% oxide for fabrication of fuel for the TRR. Dilute the remaining 20% UF6 to no more than 5%. No reconversion line.”

Myth: This rolls back the existing Iranian nuclear weapons program to a significant degree.

Fact: The difference between 20% enrichment and 5% enrichment is relatively minute. There is no verification mechanism to ensure that the watered-down stuff is not reconverted.

“Iran announces that it will not enrich uranium over 5% for the duration of the 6 months. Iran announces that it will not make any further advances of its activities at the Natanz Fuel Enrichment Plant (1), Fordow (2), or the Arak reactor (3), designated by the IAEA as IR-40.”

Myth: This significantly hampers Iran’s nuclear development capabilities.

Fact: Not only does the agreement’s verification provide only weak checks on facilities the west knows about, it completely ignores the Parchin facility near Tehran.

“Provision of specified information to the IAEA, including information on Iranˈs plans for nuclear facilities, a description of each building on each nuclear site, a description of the scale of operations for each location engaged in specified nuclear activities, information on uranium mines and mills, and information on source material. This information would be provided within three months of the adoption of these measures.”

Myth: This gives the west brand new information about Iranian nuclear facilities.

Fact: This gives the Iranians three months to fabricate information about their nuclear facilities.

“Daily IAEA inspector access when inspectors are not present for the purpose of Design Information Verification, Interim Inventory Verification, Physical Inventory Verification, and unannounced inspections, for the purpose of access to offline surveillance records, at Fordow and Natanz.”

    Myth: This is serious surveillance.

Fact: This is deeply unserious surveillance. Inspectors may not show up unnaounced to check out design information, physical inventory, or interim inventory. Unannounced inspections are only allowed under the agreement “for the purpose of access to offline surveillance records” at two of the nuclear reactors, but not at Arak or Parchin at all. The most important type of nuclear verification is monitored by the Iranian government, including “managed access” to centrifuge assembly, uranium mines and mills, and centrifuge rotor production workshops and storage facilities. In other words, all the important information gets filtered by the Iranian government.

The rest of the agreement constitutes goodies the west will give to Iran, including “No new nuclear-related UN Security Council sanctions,” “No new EU nuclear-related sanctions,” and suspension of US and EU sanctions on “gold and precious metals,” as well as Iranian petrochemical exports.

There are multiple other problems with the Iran deal text, including the fact that Iran is allowed to continue centrifuge production, supposedly to “replace damaged machines” – but, as mentioned, inspection of centrifuges is monitored by the Iranian government under “managed access.” So Iran’s centrifuge production can continue wholesale under the guise of replacing damaged materials no one can inspect.

It is no wonder the Iranian government is so thrilled with this deal. They gave up virtually nothing, and gained six months during which Israel is completely isolated internationally – a period during which they can speed along their path toward a nuclear weapon. And anyone who thinks President Obama is humble enough to declare this deal a failure in six months, no matter how much of a failure it is, has never seen this egotistical Commander-in-Chief in action.

Governor John Kasich (R-OH), contemplating a 2016 presidential bid of his own, is testing the word “Hillarycare” to see if it will help stain Hillary Clinton’s potential run for the White House, according to Time.

  39. http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2013/11/25/krauthammer-iran-nuclear-agreement-its-worst-deal-munich

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: It’s really hard to watch the President and the Secretary of State and not think how they cannot be embarrassed by this deal. Think about this: half a dozen times, the Security Council has passed resolutions which said Iran has to stop all enrichment otherwise there’ll be no change in the sanctions, no relief. Which means six times China and Russia – not exactly hardliners on Iran – have signed on to this.

And what is the result of this agreement? Iran retains the right to enrich. It continues to enrich during the six months. It is promised a final deal in which we’re going to work out the details of its enrichment. And remember, enrichment is the dam against all proliferation. Once a country anywhere can start to enrich there is no containing its nuclear capacity. So it undermines the entire idea of nonproliferation, and it grants Iran a right it’s been lusting for for a decade. That’s why there was so much jubilation in Tehran over this.

Second, there’s a relaxation of sanctions which have really caused the Iranians to hurt, to worry about the stability of the regime, and to come and negotiate. What happens on sanctions? There’s going to be a huge infusion of cash which can reduce the inflation, can alleviate the shortages. Already the rial, the currency, jumped three percent instantly as a result of this agreement. This is a huge relief for the Iranians, and it can only increase over time.

What do we get in return? I just heard the Secretary of State say we’re going to get a destruction of the 20 percent uranium. That is simply untrue. What’s going to happen is the 20 percent enriched uranium is going to be turned into an oxide so it’s inoperative. That process is completely chemically reversible, which means Iran holds on to its 20 percent uranium and can turn it into active stuff any time it wants.

This is a sham from beginning to end. It’s the worst deal since Munich.

  40. From Hillary:

at Temple University in Pennsylvania. “We have to pull ourselves together. We have to stand up, solve our problems. Everybody is not going to get everything they want. 47. Why Obama’s Job Approval Matters

    By Sean Trende – November 15, 2013

(P)residential job approval is still the most important variable for how his party fares in midterm elections, explaining about half of the variance. The relationship is highly statistically significant: For every point in job approval the president loses, his party loses 0.6 percent of its caucus. (The chart doesn’t measure drop in job approval; just job approval.) So, at 60 percent, the president should lose 5 percent of his caucus; at 50 percent, it is around 12 percent of his caucus lost; at 40 percent, it’s about 18 percent of his caucus lost — which would be 36 seats.

Now the latter is highly unlikely to happen. To pick up 36 seats, the GOP would have to win every seat that Obama won with 56 percent of the vote or less in 2012. Right now the GOP only holds five seats the president won with 54 percent of the vote or more, and only one seat he won with over 56 percent of the vote. Because the GOP’s seat total is well above its historical average (the third-largest majority since 1946), 40 seats probably describes the universe of potentially competitive seats, rather than the number of seats that Democrats are likely to lose.

As I’ve said before, this election isn’t going to be about sixth-year itches or any such electoral mumbo-jumbo. It’s going to be about presidential job approval, supplemented by the state of the economy (which also affects job approval to a degree) and how overexposed or underexposed the president’s party is. Right now, the second factor provides a drag beyond the president’s job approval, while the third factor will work heavily to Democrats’ advantage on Election Day.

With that said, the best midterm showing for the party of a president with a sub-45 percent job approval came in 1950, when the Democrats lost 11 percent of their caucus. This election occurred under fairly similar circumstances: Harry Truman was unpopular, but his party was well below the number of seats it typically held and the economy was growing.

It is still far too early to speculate about how many seats Democrats will lose (or perhaps gain) in the 2014 elections. But if Obama’s job approval is 40 percent on Election Day, gains would be unlikely, and Democratic losses in the low double digits — perhaps even as many as the 20 or so seats that would accompany losing 11 percent of their caucus, a la 1950 — would be plausible.

Of course, House seats don’t matter all that much, unless the president’s approvals stay at 40 percent through 2016 and a Republican president is elected. The big game is in the Senate. In 2014, there will be seven Democratic seats up for re-election in states that were more Republican than the country as a whole over the course of the last two presidential elections, according to Cook PVI.

If these states continue to center around the national median, that would suggest that Democrats in these states will be running with a president of their own party whose job approval is below 40 percent in their states — perhaps well below 40 percent. That would be poisonous to Democratic chances in these states. Another eight Democratic senators would be running for re-election in states where the president’s job approval is probably upside-down.

In 2010, I remarked that Democrats had dodged a bullet in terms of the Senate, because their most vulnerable seats weren’t up for re-election that cycle. I noted, however, that getting smacked with a wave in 2012 or 2014 could set the Democratic Party back for years, because of how overexposed they were in those cycles. Will there be a wave in 2014? We don’t know, but a lot will depend on where the president’s approval rating is on Election Day. For Democratic members of the House and Senate, his job approval is no laughing matter.

  49. Admin: this part of the article caught my eye:

If you’re going to launch a new redistributionist program to benefit your core constituencies, you need to be careful to obscure where the money’s coming from. If it’s too clear who the “winners” and “losers” are, then you’ve got three big electoral problems potentially: (1) the losers might outnumber the winners; (2) even if the winners outnumber the losers, the losers will likely be more motivated to vote — an especially dangerous problem for O given that his main beneficiaries here, the poor, typically vote at a lower rate to begin with; and (3) if the losers are easily identified, the PR opportunities for opponents are limitless. As Matt Lewis said yesterday, one of the ironies of the ObamaCare rollout is that the sob stories are all on the side of the opposition right now.

The Naked Emperor stands before the entire world, exposed.

Roberts is the equivalent of the Captain of the Titanic only he lacked the courage to go down with the ship. This debacle of Obamacare is his doing. In terms of issues, even a favorable ruling on the Catholic issue, Roberts allegedly being a Catholic, is too little too late. I do not want him to have a second bite at the apple, because it is meaningless, compared to the larger failure he has foisted on the nation. A coward.

Supreme Court to review contraceptive coverage mandate

The Supreme Court agreed Tuesday to consider a new challenge to President Obama’s Affordable Care Act and decide whether employers with religious objections may refuse to provide their workers with mandated insurance coverage of contraceptives.

The cases accepted by the court offer complex questions about religious freedom and equality for female workers along with an issue the court has not yet confronted: whether secular, for-profit corporations are protected by the Constitution or federal statute from complying with a law because of their owners’ religious beliefs.

  53. SAN FRANCISCO — The recent revelation that the National Security Agency was able to eavesdrop on the communications of Google and Yahoo users without breaking into either companies’ data centers sounded like something pulled from a Robert Ludlum spy thriller.

How on earth, the companies asked, did the N.S.A. get their data without them knowing about it?

The most likely answer is a modern spin on a century-old eavesdropping tradition.

People knowledgeable about Google and Yahoo’s infrastructure say they believe that government spies bypassed the big Internet companies and hit them at a weak spot — the fiber-optic cables that connect data centers around the world that are owned by companies like Verizon Communications, the BT Group, the Vodafone Group and Level 3 Communications. In particular, fingers have been pointed at Level 3, the world’s largest so-called Internet backbone provider, whose cables are used by Google and Yahoo.

The Internet companies’ data centers are locked down with full-time security and state-of-the-art surveillance, including heat sensors and iris scanners. But between the data centers — on Level 3’s fiber-optic cables that connected those massive computer farms — information was unencrypted and an easier target for government intercept efforts, according to three people with knowledge of Google’s and Yahoo’s systems who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

It is impossible to say for certain how the N.S.A. managed to get Google and Yahoo’s data without the companies’ knowledge. But both companies, in response to concerns over those vulnerabilities, recently said they were now encrypting data that runs on the cables between their data centers. Microsoft is considering a similar move.

“Everyone was so focused on the N.S.A. secretly getting access to the front door that there was an assumption they weren’t going behind the companies’ backs and tapping data through the back door, too,” said Kevin Werbach, an associate professor at the Wharton School.

  55. The Morning Plum: What if the GOP stance on Obamacare proves a liability, too?

    BY GREG SARGENT

With Obamacare hurtling towards November 30th, the date the White House has set as a target for making the federal website functional, it should be possible to keep the following two ideas in our heads at the same time:

    1) The health law’s rollout is a disaster that is currently hurting Dems and could have political repercussions for them in 2014; if its problems continue over time, it could prove a serious long term political fiasco for them.

    2) The de facto GOP stance on Obamacare — repeal it, and go back to the old system – is also politically problematic, and could even prove a political loser in its own right, even if the law continues to poll badly.

Not only did Mullah Obama fail to secure the release of American pastor jailed in Iran for being a Christian…

He didn’t even put it on the table during recent negotiations in which he enabled the terrorist state of Iran to become a nuclear power.

The wife of imprisoned American pastor Saeed Abedini says she and her family are devastated after learning that the Obama administration did not try to secure the release of her husband as part of the newly signed deal on Iran’s nuclear program. Saeed Abedini, an American citizen, has been imprisoned in Iran for more than a year for practicing Christianity.

The talks over Iran’s nuclear program were seen by his family and those representing them as one of the most promising avenues yet for securing his release. But the White House confirmed over the weekend that Abedini’s status was not on the table during those talks.

  58. From National Journal – ObamaCare kills:

    http://www.nationaljournal.com/politics/democrats-fear-obamacare-will-cost-them-the-senate-20131126

“Democrats Fear Obamacare Will Cost Them The Senate

One top Democratic pollster: “If there’s nothing you want to fix, there’s something wrong with you.”

Last week, President Obama’s pollster Joel Benenson sent a memo to congressional Democrats encouraging them to refocus attention on the economy and ignore the health care chaos that has consumed the administration for the last two months. The three-page set of talking points argued that the media’s relentless focus on the Obamacare website is a “distraction” from more important work on the minds of voters.

But for Senate Democrats who backed the unpopular legislation, avoiding the subject isn’t so easy. Republicans are armed with reams of polling data showing how the health care law could overturn the Democrats’ majority, and are already hitting vulnerable Democrats on the subject. Indeed, Democrats who voted for the law face a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don’t crisis: flip-flop on legislation they actively embraced or tie themselves to an increasingly unpopular law that could doom their reelection prospects. [snip]

They’re all echoing the line Democratic campaign officials are privately urging their members to take: stress the promised benefits, offer constructive criticism, and hope their constituents are patient enough to sustain them through the rocky rollout. Some may even call for more aggressive oversight of the law’s implementation. But it’s an open question whether that political line will be sustainable if the health care exchange website is still dysfunctional heading into next year, and an older, sicker insurance pool could mean a “death spiral” of ballooning premiums for 2015. In a telling sign of the White House’s longer-term political fears, the administration delayed the second round of open enrollment for one month—to occur right after the 2014 midterms.

There’s only so much muddying up you can do on an issue as important as this,” said Tom Bowen, former political adviser to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. “People elected politicians who disagree with them as long as they know where they stand. You have to have some flexibility, but trying to sort of shade who you are—that doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence.”

For Democrats, the politics of the health care law are creating a death spiral of their own. For the White House to protect its signature initiative, it needs to maintain a Democratic Senate majority past 2015. But to do so, Majority Leader Harry Reid needs to insulate vulnerable battleground-state Democrats, who are all too eager to propose their own fixes to the law that may be politically satisfying, but could undermine the fundamentals of the law.

Race-by-race polling conducted over the last month has painted a grim picture of the difficult environment Senate Democrats are facing next year. In Louisiana, a new state survey showed Landrieu’s approval rating is now underwater; she tallied only 41 percent of the vote against her GOP opposition. In Arkansas, where advertising on the health care law began early, Sen. Mark Pryor’s approval sank to 33 percent, a drop of 18 points since last year. A new Quinnipiac survey showed Sen. Mark Udall of Colorado, who looked like a lock for reelection last month, in a dead heat against little-known GOP opponents. Even a Democratic automated poll from Public Policy Polling showed Sen. Kay Hagan of North Carolina running neck-and-neck against Republican opposition, with her job disapproval spiking over the last two months. These are the types of numbers that wave elections are made of.

The big picture isn’t any better: The president’s approval rating, which historically correlates with his party’s midterm performance, has dipped below 40 percent in several national surveys. Democrats saw their nine-point lead on the generic ballot in the Quinnipiac survey evaporate in a month, and a CNN/ORC poll released today shows Republicans now holding a two-point lead.

You want to prevent your race from being about Obamacare. If you enable your race to be about Obamacare, you’re making a mistake,” said Democratic pollster Mark Mellman, who’s working for Landrieu. “You need to explain what you’re trying to fix, and you better be trying to fix something. If there’s nothing you want to fix, there’s something wrong with you. At this point, it’s hard to defend the benefits, but you can say we’re not going back to the evils of the old system.” [snip]

But despite the Democrats’ proven mastery of campaign logistics, they face limitations if public opinion remains against them. For one, minority turnout is usually low in midterm elections, and would have to be near presidential-year levels to compensate for the party’s historically low standing with white Southern voters. Landrieu is likely to face a runoff election, against a single Republican challenger in December—a month in which turnout is usually anemic among minorities. Hagan faces the challenge of winning loyal support from Democrats as an obscure freshman senator without a high profile in Washington.

Indeed, there’s a growing sense of fatalism among Democrats. Even as strategists are advising their clients on how to best talk about health care, they badly want to change the subject and hope that the problems go away. On that point, the White House and congressional Democrats are on the same page.

“If the election were held today, Republicans would probably win back the majority,” said one longtime Democratic operative tracking internal Senate polling. “But we know for sure the election would not be held today.”

The Affordable Care Act contains provisions for “death panels,” which decide which critically-ill patients receive care and which won’t, according to Mark Halperin, senior political analyst for Time magazine.

“It’s built into the plan. It’s not like a guess or like a judgment. That’s going to be part of how costs are controlled,” Halperin told “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax TV.

  60. http://bigstory.ap.org/article/former-hostages-react-iran-nuclear-deal

Former hostages react to Iran’s nuclear deal

McLEAN, Va. (AP) — A nuclear deal between the U.S., Iran and other world powers has been described as a trust-building step after decades of animosity that hopefully will lead to a more comprehensive deal down the road.

But for many of the Americans who were held hostage at the start of the Iranian revolution, trusting the regime in Tehran feels like a mistake.

It’s kind of like Jimmy Carter all over again,” said Clair Cortland Barnes, now retired and living in Leland, N.C., after a career at the CIA and elsewhere. He sees the negotiations now as no more effective than they were in 1979 and 1980, when he and others languished, facing mock executions and other torments. [snip]

Retired Air Force Col. Thomas E. Schaefer, 83, called the deal “foolishness.”

“My personal view is, I never found an Iranian leader I can trust,” he said. “I don’t think today it’s any different from when I was there. None of them, I think, can be trusted. Why make an agreement with people you can’t trust?” [snip]

For other hostages, though, their experience has led them to the conclusion that attempting to negotiate and expecting Iran to live up to its end of the bargain is a losing proposition. Sgt. Rodney “Rocky” Sickmann, 56, of St. Louis, then a Marine sergeant, remembers clearly being told by his captors that their goal was to use the hostages to humiliate the American government, and he suspects this interim deal is in that vein.

“It just hurts. We negotiated for 444 days and not one time did they agree to anything … and here they beg for us to negotiate and we do,” he said. “It’s hard to swallow. We negotiate with our enemies and stab our allies in the back. That doesn’t seem good.

The deal may also have a direct effect on some of the hostages who have long fought to sue the Iranian government for damages. The new agreement calls for $4.2 billion in frozen Iranian assets to be released, which could make it more difficult to collect a judgment on any successful lawsuit.

“And what do we get out of it?” asked Barnes. “A lie saying, ‘We’re not going to make plutonium.’ It’s a win-win for them and it’s a lose-lose for us.”

  61. Indeed, there’s a growing sense of fatalism among Democrats. well said Shadowfax…that’s the bottom line

  63. also for the talking point I keep hearing repeated about Hillary and/ or repubs and “going back to the old system”

…that is not going to happen…that ship has sailed…you cannot put the genie back in the bottle…

for one, the biggest mistake the current incarnation of O dims made was not working at all across the aisle…not securing even one single vote for this monstrosity that is now disrupting millions and millions of people and their health choices and what they can actually afford…(the elitist gall of all of this is unbelievable…that they actually thought they could get away with this…’take all of this from Peter to give to Paul, whether Peter liked it or not’)

this mess is a very big deal…

going forward, after this horrendous debacle…one that is going to get worse when the millions of employee insurance gets cancelled…and in addition, people who had insurance and were cancelled are caught in the gap now with nothing…

going forward…once Ocare crashes for good both parties are going to have to do what they should have done in the beginning…work together and take the best feasible ideas from each side that ACTUALLY benefit the seemingly forgotten people…

the Supreme Court screwed us…they should have had more vision to anticipate all these ramifications and ‘intended or unintened circumstances’

I always wonder just who this money trail goes back to…whose pockets are stuffed…I don’t trust repubs either…they also have conflicts of interest with insurance co, etc.

the people will not so easily be fooled next time after being lied to and burned so bad this time…the trust factor is gone…

this whole Ocare scam has been about behind the scenes deals to make alot of money for insurance and drug companies and others who are in the shadows – while taking hard earned money from people who had worked to provide for their families and were getting by and taking it from them to give to others…and along the way…O and his scammers gave out alot of waivers and special treatment to their well connected buddies…so they aren’t effected by these increased premiums, etc

again, this is causing more health problems than it is solving…

back to the drawing board, learn from this mess, and come up with new and better ideas and solutions…

the scary part that I see is now that O allowed the genie – insurance companies – free reign to jack up premiums and deductibles so much…it is hard to see how we get them back down…the only solution i can think of now is that they have overplayed their hand and it backfires and people just opt to pay the penalty…and the crash comes even sooner…

way to go O…destroy health, insurance co, hospitals, doctors, families, etc…may as well ruin everything and take it down with you and your poll numbers

  67. It appears that the Iranian Government has caught the Obama Administration in yet another lie. It seems that Obama has released a document with purports to be a fact sheet summarizing the agreement reached in the Geneva talks. Iran categorically denies some of the key points, and maintains that they are at variance with the express terms of the Joint Plan which Obama has not released. They describe this “fact sheet” as an attempt by the Obama Administration to mislead the American People.

Just another example of “if you like your health insurance you can keep it”. It is the classic bait and switch. The only difference is the American People are too stupid to realize the liar they are dealing with, whereas the Iranians, being adept liars in their own right, know one when they see one. What Obama is keen to hide is that the memorandum of agreement recognizes Iran’s right to enrich uranium which the Obama “fact sheet” denies.

Far be it from me to dismiss the negotiation process which should occur in a situation like this. But the Obama Administration is a basket case when it comes to negotiation. Thus, it is hardly surprising that they gave the store away just to get a headline. I understand that mindset only too well. But it leads to an asymmetrical agreement, which they are now attempting to extricate themselves from through cheap tactics like changing the words. This is bad faith bargaining and Iran is absolutely right to call him on the carpet for it. It is cheap. It destroys the environment.

  69. The Rock,

I would normally agree with you, but we ARE talking about the electorate here in this country.

    ——-
You are probably right, considering all the vote stealing by the ObamaParty of crooks and the ability for the Republican’s to screw up every chance they have to take down Obama…

  70. Barry caught with his pants down again, telling big fat lies about the ‘deal’ with Iran?

    Oh what a shock.

What a freakin’ laughing stock he is making out of our country.

Isn’t it fu@king strange that his entire cabinet and foreign policies are going to fer shit now that Hillary is no longer there to try and pick up the pieces for his administration.

Think I am wacky for saying this?

Think of Hillary’s blood clot in her brain and how she looked then…see how she looks now.

I hope I can rest my case. 😉

  71. in case anyone is interested in that vent I had about the 10 yr old boy who was murdered in Miami by two thugs for no reason…

here is the update…the killer, a 19 year old that was in the video i posted was arrested today on 1st degree murder, robbery, etc

what was so heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time…is the AA community came together around this Asian family…evidently they are very beloved and many in the community go to their nail salon and love them…many in the AA community were very sad and sickened by this…the news just showed the murdered 5th grader’s AA school boy classmates and friends and they were all crying and could barely say that they could not believe anyone would do this and for no reason…so sad…this is where the likes of an Al Sharpton or JJ should be coming to counsel these dangerous, lost and angry teenagers…instead of churning up the anger and desolation…

the boy’s father is still in the hospital from his injuries…

it is all so sad and such a waste for nothing…the 19 yr old’s life is now ruined…they said he fought the police when they came to get him…

all this for what? my heart breaks for the family and that community…they have to deal with this kind of danger every single day nonstop…

    5. But just remember who we are dealing with here–i.e. the party of corruption and stupidity.

    13. Schemes which are killing the middle class, and have given us a $17 million dollar bonus.

    14. Sicker than even that, however, Republican staffers and Republican lobbyists

  75. Obama adviser urges Israel not to strike at Iran

Ben Rhodes: Military action has no guarantee of eliminating nuclear infrastructure, and could incentivize Iranians to break out to bomb
By Times of Israel staff November 26, 2013, 11:03 pm 20

The US on Tuesday urged Israel not to strike at Iran so long as the international community’s diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis over Tehran’s rogue nuclear program continue.

Speaking two days after world powers signed an interim deal with Iran in Geneva, and in the wake of blistering criticism of the deal from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Barack Obama’s close aide and deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes encouraged Israel to give the negotiations a chance, and warned that military action could be counterproductive.

  76. Communist Party Chairman Tells Comrades To Fight For Obamacare By Singling Out Racism…

[N]ow, if the health insurance exchanges are running smoothly by the end of the year, as they appear to be in many states, much of the furor will die out. But if they aren’t, Obamacare will be turned by the far right into a metaphor for “broken government” and the prospects of unseating Republicans in Congress and statehouses next fall will become problematic.

Which means that grumbling about the problems of the health care rollout heard in some progressive and left circles needs to give way to actively resisting the right wing’s campaign to kill Obamacare and regain the initiative leading into the midterm and 2016 elections.

With all its shortcomings, Obamacare is a step in the right direction; it extends health care – a social right – to millions who up to now have none, and partially curbs the power of the health care industry, while its defeat would set back the struggle for health care for all much longer than I would care to think. That’s why the far right is fighting it so hard!

Thus, energizing, uniting, and raising the understanding of ever more people to oppose right-wing extremism in every arena of struggle – not least of which is defense of the Affordable Health Care Act – is the order of the day.

Of critical importance in this regard is the fight against racism in its material and ideological forms. Racism was the main vehicle used to bust up the New Deal coalition and fuel the ascendancy of the right wing over the past three or more decades. By the same token, the struggle against it is at the core of building a movement with the ideological, political, and organizational capacity and unity to dislodge the right and usher in an era of deep going progressive, even radical, change.

  77. Someone is dying on their ass…..

New Q-Poll: Obama’s job approval rating among Ohio voters is a negative 34 – 61 percent, lowest ever

    http://www.quinnipiac.edu/institutes-and-centers/polling-institute/ohio/release-detail?ReleaseID=1985

Negative approval is 3 – 96 percent among Republicans and 30 – 64 percent among independent voters, while Democrats approve 69 – 25 percent.

Obama is not honest and trustworthy, Ohio voters say 57 – 39 percent, also his lowest score on honesty in any Quinnipiac University poll.

This is a state considered to be a national bellwether where he got 51 percent of the vote, just 12 months ago. Only 30 percent of men, 38 percent of women and 27 percent of white voters, along with 83 percent of black voters, give him a thumbs up. (still 83% of black voters, idiots)

“Clearly much of the reason for the president’s decline in Ohio is ‘Obamacare.’ Ohio voters oppose the Affordable Care Act 59 – 35 percent. Perhaps more significantly, voters say 45 – 16 percent they expect their own health care to be worse rather than better a year from now.”

“If voters still feel that way about their own situation come November 2014, that is likely to create a political playing field beneficial for Republicans,” Brown added. “Voters still blame the Republicans more for the government shutdown, but that issue’s salience is being dwarfed by the opposition to ‘Obamacare.'”

In an early look at the 2016 run for the White House, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gets 42 percent to 41 percent for New Jersey Republican Gov. Christopher Christie in Ohio. Secretary Clinton tops Gov. John Kasich 49 – 38 percent and leads other Republicans:

    50 – 37 percent over former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush;
    48 – 39 percent over U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida;
    50 – 40 percent over U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky;
49 – 41 percent over U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin.
50 – 35 percent over U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.

Clinton would make a good president, Ohio voters say 54 – 40 percent, the best score of any contender measured here, followed by Christie 44 – 32 percent. No other candidate gets a positive score, with Kasich at a negative 32 – 49 percent.

  78. In doing some housekeeping at my FB place I came across a previous rebranding of O’care. Nearly a year ago:

Obama officials ditch ‘exchanges’ in rebranding of healthcare reform law By Sam Baker – 01/20/13 05:00 AM ET
The Obama administration is re-branding the central component of its signature healthcare law. The Health and Human Services Department suddenly stopped referring to insurance “exchanges” this week, even as it heralded ongoing efforts to prod states into setting up their own. Instead, press materials and a website for the public referred to insurance “marketplaces” in each state.
The change comes amid a determined push by conservative activists to block state-based exchanges in hopes of crippling the federal implementation effort…Dean Clancy, the director of healthcare policy at FreedomWorks, said HHS’s decision to ditch the “exchanges” label shows that opponents of the healthcare law are succeeding….Changing the name to “marketplaces” won’t make any difference, Clancy said.
“They could call them motherhood or apple pie, but it wouldn’t change our feelings about them,” Clancy said. “We’re encouraged that they’re showing signs of desperation. I think that it’s too late in the game to try to start calling this something different. And [we’re] not going to spend a lot of effort fighting over a word.”

  79. Harry Reid Changes His Tune On Iran Sanctions Bill

Last week Democrat Senate Majority leader Harry Reid said that he would “ support” a bill that would tighten the sanctions. “The Senate must be prepared to move forward with a new bipartisan Iran sanctions bill, when the Senate returns after Thanksgiving recess. And I am committed to do so,” he said.

Ah well, he’s received his orders from the White House and today is a different day. Now, Senator Reid is saying the Senate will act only “if we need to do stronger sanctions.”

Reid’s fellow Democrats Chuck Schumer and Bob Menendez were outraged at what occurred in Geneva this weekend and are attempting to drum up support for new sanctions legislation .What Harry Reid is telling us here is that President Obama won;t be subjected to the political embarrassment of having to veto the bill – Reid will just use his powers as leader to table it.

Quite a piece of work, that Harry Reid.

  80. CBS News: The White House “fear a crush of new users will crash the website this weekend.”

    ………

aah the dampening of expectations already….if anymore than 6 go on it will crash.

  81. The usual setup…..

Protestor who shouted down President was illegal alien, WH guest.

Yesterday’s heckler at Obama’s pro-amnesty speech in San Francisco was Ju Hong, an approved guest of the White House and an illegal alien from South Korea who recently graduated from UC Berkeley. People who still say illegal aliens “live in the shadows” obviously don’t know this guy: He’s on Twitter and LinkedIn, was a member of student government, has lobbied for taxpayer subsidies for illegal-alien students, and has been the subject of so much fawning news coverage he has his own topic page at the Cal student paper.

The salient fact here for immigration policy is that he came with his family on a tourist visa, and never left. Visa overstayers are believed to represent between a third and a half of the 12 million illegal aliens in the United States — and with improvements in border enforcement it’s possible the majority of new illegal aliens are overstayers. That translates to 4 to 6 million liars, people who swore they’d leave when their visit was over but didn’t, something at least as contemptible as sneaking into someone else’s country. Hong came as a child, so he wasn’t doing the lying, but he’s no more entitled to stay than the child of someone who lied on a mortgage application and later lost his home.

There are also more Korean illegal aliens than you might think. For instance, nearly 7,000 South Korean illegal aliens have been amnestied by Obama’s unconstitutional Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (a.k.a. the administrative Dream Act) through the end of August, making it the No. 5 country after Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala.

The reason we have 4 to 6 million illegal-alien visa overstayers is that we have no effective way of tracking the departure of foreign visitors. This despite the fact that Congress has mandated the development of an exit-tracking system eight separate times, starting in 1996. As Homeland Security secretary, Janet Napolitano dismissed the importance of exit-tracking. At a 2009 hearing, she told Senator Dianne Feinstein the “value of that system to security is dubious.” While the Schumer-Rubio amnesty bill passed by the Senate in June made development of such a system a sort-of prerequisite before amnestied former illegal aliens upgrade to full green-card status, the ten-year deadline would mean that exit-tracking wouldn’t be in place until more than a quarter-century after Congress’s original mandate.

Exacerbating this problem with regard to South Korea and other countries is the Visa Waiver Program. As the name suggests, people from the 37 countries on the list don’t have to get visas for short tourist or business trips. Only those countries whose citizens are very unlikely to overstay are supposed to be included in the program. Unfortunately, the main force expanding the list of participating countries has been lobbying pressure from the travel industry and foreign governments. South Korea was added in 2008 and Greece — Greece — in 2010. This has been a significant driver of illegal immigration; the GAO reported earlier this year that, of a very large sample of apparent overstays, nearly half were people who entered under the Visa Waiver Program.

With a proper exit-tracking system, and guaranteed follow-up arrests of all those who overstay more than a couple of weeks, we could afford to make our visa process more flexible. But as it is, we grant visas to people who shouldn’t get them, waive visas for countries that send large number of illegal aliens, don’t have any comprehensive way of knowing whether visitors have left when they were supposed to, and don’t bother even to send a notification postcard to people we do know overstayed. It’s no surprise, then, that there are millions of illegals like Ju Hong. But until we’ve fixed these problems, there can be no justification for amnesty; otherwise, we’ll just have millions more Ju Hongs that the Democrats, and their GOP enablers, will insist have to be amnestied.

UPDATE: Politico reports that Hong was “an approved guest of the White House,” and the post has been updated to reflect that.

Elián González: My Time In The U.S. ‘Marked Me For My Whole Life’

Elian Gonzalez, the object of a 1999-2000 custody squabble involving Washington, Havana and family members on both sides of the Florida Strait, holds a piece of U.S. legislation directly responsible for what he endured then, Cuban official media said Monday.

“They were very sad times for me, which marked me for my whole life. I was never given the chance to have a moment to think about my mother, who as a result of that (U.S.) Cuban Adjustment Act died at sea,” the now-19-year-old Gonzalez said last weekend during a Union of Young Communists event.

Gonzalez was 5 years old in November 1999 when miraculously he remained floating on an inflated inner tube after the sinking of the boat carrying undocumented immigrants, including his mother, Elizabeth Brotons, who died along with 10 others while trying to reach the Florida coast from Cuba.

The 1966 Cuban Adjustment Act led in practice to Washington’s wet foot, dry foot policy, which gives Cuban migrants who reach U.S. soil the right to remain in the country.

“I suffered the consequences of that law. They also violated my basic rights gathered in the (U.N.) Convention on the Rights of the Child: the right to be together with my father, the right to keep my nationality and to remain in my cultural context,” Gonzalez said.

  83. Under Obama, the profits go to big business and the losses they incur go to the American People.

I realize this way way way over the head of the sheeple, who ask only for bread and circuses.

This is what crony capitalism is all about.

But just because Obama promised the insurance companies that they would be indemnified for any losses they incurred and just because the legislation he signed reflects that agreement, does not mean it is enforceable. It depends on Congress. As long as the RINO remains in charge of the party, we will get fucked. Why? Because Obama stole those insurance company lobbyists from the Republican Party, and they will do anything–anything to get them back.

Neither political party represents the interests of the American People. Both of them talk about it. Neither of them practice what they preach. We are the cash cow. We are the sheep that get slaughtered not sheered. We are the host, and the two parties are the parasite, and the parasite is killing the host. They laugh at us. And they toast their contributors and lobbyists and coalition members who profit at our expense.

The elites are concerned about social unrest from the lower class. So they harvest the middle class to pacify the underclass. And they eat their caviar and chuckle about how smart they are. This heist gives rise to the Tea Party, and viola–you get the most disproportionate reaction from the elites that you can imagine. Why? Because the Tea Party movement lays bare the fact that the elites are plundering the nation. Therefore, they use their influence through comcast, time warner aol and other entities to destroy the Tea Party. The game of corruption must go on.

It’s become a hallmark of Obama’s presidency that mistakes made by policy makers, businesses, and governments at all levels must be paid for by American taxpayers. This perverse bailout culture is again evident in ObamaCare, which we now know contains a little-known provision that grants the administration a blank check for a taxpayer-funded bailout of insurance

  84. Barf Bag Alert!

3rd grade lesson plan presents messianic view of Obama – literally

MUSKEGON, Mich. – On the heels of a controversial children’s book about Barack Obama – which stated “white voters would never vote for a black president” and that “Barack’s former pastor” said “God would damn the United States for mistreating its black citizens” – comes a new lesson that casts America’s 44th president in a messianic light. Literally.

    And – surprise – it’s Common Core-aligned.

The lesson plan and accompanying visual presentation were authored by Sherece Bennett, and is for sale on TeachersPayTeachers.com. It’s all based on a book titled, “Barack Obama: Son of Promise, Child of Hope,” by Nikki Grimes.

In one passage, a young Obama sees beggars and wonders, “Will I ever be able to help people like these?”

“Hope hung deep inside of him,” the book adds.

Another excerpt from the book reads: “Before dawn each morning, Barry rose – his mother’s voice driving him from dream land. ‘Time for learning English grammar and the Golden Rule. Be honest, be kind, be fair,’ she taught him.”

The story continues: “One morning, he slipped on the name he’d been born with. The name of his father, Barack. For the first time in his life, he wore it proudly – like a coat of many colors.”

Uh oh – another Obama-inspired Biblical reference in a government school! But there’s no controversy here. Leftists will use God and the Bible, in instances such as these, when it appropriately fits their propaganda purposes.

  85. I mention McConnell often because I know him and because he epitomizes the kind of corruption discussing.

We went to him for help on an acquisition and merger which was helpful to the public but opposed by the two biggest players in our industry. We were told he would not lift a finger to help us, or by inference the American People, unless we were willing to “wet his beak”. We asked if that meant a bribe, in which case the answer would have been a categorical unequivocal no. We were told of course not. All he wants is for you to throw him a big fundraiser.

Same crap as we see with Obama. I am sorry to see some people I like, like the founder of Costco, have not wised up to this. It is a form of protection money, I reckon. But it is inimical to the interests of the nation.

What Is Obama Doing with Iran?

By Larry Johnson on November 26, 2013 at 6:49 PM in Current Affairs

The Obama Administration appears to have a schizophrenic foreign policy that is guided solely by a desire to project an image to the US domestic political audience of vague leadership. Yet, when you look at the actual effects of the Obama Administration’s forays into the Arab Spring, the Libyan Civil War, Syria and now Iran, you are left scratching your head. One moment Obama is pursuing policies that appear to pander to the interests of the Saudis and the Sunnis. Then Obama does a complete reversal and signs on to a deal with Iran that angers and alienates the Saudis and the Israelis.

This might be understandable if there were a majority in the United States (or a powerful minority for that matter) pushing for a deal with Iran. But there is not. While most Americans hold a very negative opinion of Iran, most would also be hard pressed to find it on a map or explain the difference between Sunnis and Shias.

The pliant, sycophantic media cheerleaders–Dana Milbank is a prime example of those inclined to perform political fellatio on der Leader–were out in force pooh poohing Republican objections to the Iran deal:

“The Iran deal and our allies: You can’t spell abandonment without OBAMA,” he wrote (referring to Ari Fleischer).

This is the sort of trenchant judgment Fleischer was known for as chief spokesman for President George W. Bush at the start of the Iraq war. His anagram analysis was so relevant to the topic that it deserves application to his name, too. Turns out you can’t spell “Re: Chief Liars,” “Hi, false crier,” “Hire Sir Fecal” or “I relish farce” without ARI FLEISCHER.

But Fleischer’s instant and reflexive response — even knees don’t jerk as quickly as he did — set the tone for Republicans. Three minutes after Fleischer’s tweet came one in agreement from Ron Christie, another veteran of the Bush administration. “Precisely,” he wrote, also without the benefit of knowing what was in the agreement. “A disgraceful deal.”

What Milbank and others of his ilk studiously ignore is the backlash likely to come from the Jewish Americans who support Israel and have supported Obama. Their support, especially their financial contributions, could be in jeopardy. Obama’s move on the diplomatic front with Iran is more likely to galvanize significant political opposition in America than it is to create an enthusiastic, powerful group endorsing his move.

The deal with Iran, from my perspective, is a largely meaningless sideshow. The real issue in the Middle East is not whether Iran gets a nuclear weapon (NEWS FLASH–Iran will have a nuke within 8 years). Instead, it is the regional war that is underway that pits Sunnis against Shias. It is happening in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and will likely spread into Saudi Arabia. That’s the real threat in the region. I doubt we would be seeing the kind of threats and histrionics by the likes of John Bolton and other neocons if the Saudis were on the brink of getting a nuke. They seem to be able to overlook the role of the 19 Saudis in the 9-11 attacks and focus, instead, their vitriol exclusively on Iran and the Ayatollahs.

So I leave you with the question posed at the outset–what the hell does Obama hope to achieve by dealing with Iran?

  87. HAHA

D.C. insurance dept announces health insurers will NOT be able to continue offering non-Obamacare compliant plans. More to come.

  88. Translation…..SHIT SCARED

WASHINGTON — White House officials, fearful that the federal health care website may again be overwhelmed this weekend, have urged their allies to hold back enrollment efforts so the insurance marketplace does not collapse under a crush of new users.

At the same time, administration officials said Tuesday that they had decided not to inaugurate a big health care marketing campaign planned for December out of concern that it might drive too many people to the still-fragile HealthCare.gov.

With a self-imposed deadline for repairs to the website approaching on Saturday, the administration is trying to strike a delicate balance. It is encouraging people to go or return to the website but does not want to create too much demand. It boasts that the website is vastly improved, but does not want to raise expectations that it will work for everyone.

“We are definitely on track to have a significantly different user experience by the end of this month,” Kathleen Sebelius, the secretary of health and human services, said Tuesday. “That was our commitment.”

Ms. Sebelius, who supervised development of the troubled website, tried to rally state and local elected officials in a conference call organized by the White House. “I would urge you and your folks on the ground to not hesitate to recommend that people go to HealthCare.gov and get signed up,” she said.

Officials said the website was now able to handle 50,000 users at a time, providing enough capacity on a daily basis to enroll millions of people in the next four months.

But those charged with fixing the site worry that 250,000 people might try to use the site simultaneously at times on Saturday and in the days ahead. They say that pent-up demand for insurance in the federal marketplace, combined with a surge of interest among people merely curious about whether it is working, could bring the website to a crawl.

“Our concern is that we want to make sure that people have the right expectation going into this,” said Jennifer Palmieri, the White House communications director. “Early October was a frustrating experience for users. We are preparing for the outcome that we have as many or more visitors as we had on Oct. 1.”

About 4.7 million people visited the website on that first day, the administration said.

White House officials offered a similar message on Monday in a meeting with some of their allies, including the Service Employees International Union and Enroll America. Both groups had pledged to work hard to drive traffic to the website.

In the meeting, Ms. Palmieri said, officials urged the groups to hold back, at least for the first several days of December, to see how much traffic the website is getting. Ms. Palmieri summarized the message: “Our recommendation is that we expect there to be really high traffic. You shouldn’t be driving traffic.”

If the website again crashes repeatedly, Mr. Obama’s critics are sure to pounce and some of his Democratic allies may become anxious and apprehensive. Since the website went live eight weeks ago, the botched system has become a symbol of what Republicans say is an overreaching, incompetent federal government. The debate about the website’s failures, and the broader role of government, may shape the outcome of next year’s congressional elections.

Aides to Mr. Obama have spent the last several days trying to manage expectations by offering high estimates of potential traffic at the end of the month, and by acknowledging that the system will still have problems in the weeks ahead.

“The system will not work perfectly,” Jeffrey D. Zients, who took over management of the website repair effort, told reporters on Friday. He said the site would be able to handle 50,000 users, but added, “To be clear, there will be times that volume on HealthCare.gov will exceed this capacity.”

Luke Chung, the president of FMS, a database company in Virginia, said building the website to handle 50,000 simultaneous users was “not unreasonable.” But he said the government must be prepared to handle much larger numbers at peak times like Dec. 23, just as the Internal Revenue Services does at the tax filing deadline in April.

In an effort to ease pressure on the website, officials have created what they call a waiting room for times when the site is operating slowly. People can ask the government to notify them by email of a better time to use the site, and they will then go to the front of the line, officials said.

Earlier this fall, the administration had envisioned an all-out push to persuade millions of uninsured Americans to log on to HealthCare.gov to buy insurance.

Instead, officials said the government would focus its efforts in December on people who had lost insurance because of cancellation notices and people who started but did not complete applications on the website.

Officials said they would also focus on urban areas in Texas, Florida, California, Illinois and a few other states with high concentrations of the uninsured. Ten counties have 18 percent of the nation’s uninsured, and more than half of the uninsured live in just 4 percent of all counties, according to data from the Census Bureau and Enroll America, a nonprofit group trying to expand coverage.

The White House, pummeled daily by critics of the federal website, is stepping up efforts to persuade states to expand Medicaid for lower-income people. “Nearly half of states are so locked into the politics of Obamacare that they’re willing to leave nearly 5.4 million of their own people uninsured,” the White House website says.

The White House is even trying to win support in Kansas, where a Republican governor and Republican legislators have resisted expansion, citing concerns about the eventual cost. “There is no justification for continuing to block Medicaid expansion,” Josh Earnest, a White House spokesman, said last week in a conference call for Kansas journalists.

But Representative Tim Huelskamp, Republican of Kansas, said: “We don’t need the likes of Kathleen Sebelius or Barack Obama telling us what we should like or need. Obamacare is on life support, and President Obama keeps giving it another jolt to keep it alive.”

Consumers must sign up by Dec. 23 to obtain coverage that takes effect on Jan. 1. The open enrollment period runs through March 31 for coverage that starts later. Federal officials expect three-fourths of the enrollees to qualify for subsidies, though it appears that no more than one-third qualified in the first month.

  89. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/11/26/evidence-shows-obama-administration-predicted-tens-millions-would-lose-plans/

Almost 80 million people with employer health plans could find their coverage canceled because they are not compliant with ObamaCare, several experts predicted.

Their losses would be in addition to the millions who found their individual coverage cancelled for the same reason.

Stan Veuger of the American Enterprise Institute said that in addition to the individual cancellations, “at least half the people on employer plans would by 2014 start losing plans as well.” There are approximately 157 million employer health care policy holders.

Avik Roy of the Manhattan Institute added, “the administration estimated that approximately 78 million Americans with employer sponsored insurance would lose their existing coverage due to the Affordable Care Act.”

Last week, an analysis by the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank, showed the administration anticipates half to two-thirds of small businesses would have policies canceled or be compelled to send workers onto the ObamaCare exchanges. They predicted up to 100 million small and large business policies could be canceled next year.

According to projections the administration itself issued back in July 2010, it was clear officials knew the impact of ObamaCare three years ago.

In fact, according to the Federal Register, its mid-range estimate was that by the end of 2014, 76 percent of small group plans would be cancelled, along with 55 percent of large employer plans.

The reason behind the losses is that current plans don’t meet the requirements of ObamaCare, which dictate that each plan must cover a list of essential benefits, whether people want them or not.

“Things like maternity care or acupuncture or extensive drug coverage,” said Veuger. “And so now the law is going to force them to buy policies that they could have gotten in the past if they wanted to but they chose not to.”

Some plans already have been canceled and employers are getting sticker shock at the new, higher prices under ObamaCare.

One of them is David Allen, president of a company bearing his name in Boulder, Colorado. He told a Congressional hearing recently that his carrier discontinued his company policy because it wasn’t compliant with ObamaCare.

“It does not meet the minimum standards as stipulated under the law. Due to this one change,” he said, “our premiums are now scheduled to increase by 52.3 percent in January 2014.”

Roy said that is not unusual. “The old plans that are being cancelled are meaningfully cheaper than the new plans that are ObamaCare compliant.”

A new wave of cancellations and sticker shock will emerge just before next year’s elections.

“They’re going to start doing that in the summer or early fall but certainly before the midterm elections,” said Veuger.

NJ’s biggest insurer canceling bare-bones plan
The Associated Press Posted: Wednesday, November 27, 2013, 8:09 AM
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) – New Jersey’s largest insurance company says it will move ahead with the cancellation of its bare-bones health coverage, pushing subscribers toward new plans offered on an insurance exchange.
Most of the 90,000 people covered by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield’s basic and essential plan are expected to qualify for subsidies for more comprehensive coverage available on the marketplace. The company tells The Record (http://bit.ly/18nJAJm ) that premiums would have been higher if the policies were continued. The customers are among 150,000 New Jersey residents who faced insurance coverage cancellations because their plans did not conform to requirements of President Barack Obama’s health insurance overhaul.
Obama has announced that those policies could be continued if states would allow it.
Gov. Chris Christie said Tuesday he would leave the decision up to insurers.

U.S. flies two warplanes over East China Sea, ignoring new Chinese air defense zone

The Pentagon announced Tuesday that it had defied Beijing by flying two warplanes over the East China Sea on a training exercise, ignoring a recent edict from China that it be informed in advance of any such flights in the region.

U.S. military officials said they deployed two unarmed B-52 bombers late Monday over a small island chain that China and Japan both claim as their territory. Lt. Col. Tom Crosson, a military spokesman, described the flights as “uneventful” and said they were part of a previously scheduled training mission. He said there was “no contact, no reaction from China.”

Pentagon officials said the flights were intended to send a clear message to Beijing that Washington would not permit China to restrict freedom of movement in international airspace or waterways. In addition to its dispute with Japan, China is engaged in spats with other U.S. allies in Asia, fueling political tension as all sides vie for strategically important territory.

On Saturday, China declared that it had imposed an “air defense identification zone” over part of the East China Sea and the uninhabited islands, known as the Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China. The Chinese Defense Ministry warned that any noncommercial aircraft entering the zone would need to submit flight plans in advance and maintain radio contact with Chinese authorities or else face unspecified “defensive emergency measures.”

Japan and the United States immediately protested the move. The Pentagon, which frequently conducts naval and air exercises in the East China Sea, said Saturday that it had no intention of bowing to China’s demands, calling them a “destabilizing attempt to alter the status quo in the region.”

  95. Thank you, Hobby Lobby
    by Michelle Malkin

Religious liberty is front and center on the nation’s Thanksgiving table. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court agreed to hear Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. The family-owned craft store company is intrepidly challenging the constitutionality of Obamacare’s abortion coverage mandate. Hobby Lobby’s faithful owners deserve our thanks and praise as they defend freedom of conscience for all Americans.

The privately held retail chain’s story is the quintessential American Dream. Founder David Green started out making mini picture frames in his Oklahoma garage in 1970. He recruited his two sons, Mart and Steve, to pitch in at an early age. The family’s first establishment took up a tiny 300 square feet of retail space. Hobby Lobby now runs nearly 600 stores across the country, employs 13,000 people and topped $2 billion in sales in 2009.

The Greens’ Christian faith is at the heart of how they do business. They are dedicated to integrity and service for their customers and their employees. The debt-free company commits to “honoring the Lord in all we do by operating the company in a manner consistent with biblical principles,” as well as “serving our employees and their families by establishing a work environment and company policies that build character, strengthen individuals and nurture families.”

The company donates more than 10 percent of its income every year to charity. All stores are closed on Sundays to allow employees more family and worship time. It’s the company’s dedication to biblical principles that led Hobby Lobby in April to raise full-time employees’ starting minimum wage to $14 an hour at a time when many other firms have been forced to slash both wages and benefits.

“We believe that it is by God’s grace that Hobby Lobby has endured, and he has blessed us and our employees,” CEO David Green pointed out. “We’ve not only added jobs in a weak economy; we’ve raised wages for the past four years in a row. Our full-time employees start at 80 percent above minimum wage.”

  96. White House officials, fearful that the federal health care website may again be overwhelmed this weekend, have urged their allies to hold back enrollment efforts so the insurance marketplace does not collapse under a crush of new users.

Clearly the basement boys of der leader-hosen are so proud of the job they did in 2008 and 2012 at stealing an election, that they have become so self-congratulatory in tech skills that they can’t understand or take any blame for the $300+ million dollar website that doesn’t even measure up any simple website in functionality.

Here’s a couple of fixes for the website:

1- Set up one computer on the WhiteHouse lawn that is working with the website, let the people form a long ass line to use the website and disconnect the site from any other connections by users. Maybe one user at a time would work?

2- Make brochures and send out paper forms for people interested in signing up for Obama care. Advertise this new service on the front page of the New York Times.

  97. Haha, they already have paper forms…

The Obamacare event took place at the University of Central Arkansas last weekend. It was hosted by a group called the Living Affected Corporation, which apparently has received a grant from the federal government to educate the public about Obamacare.

The event organizer spilled out a bag of condoms — as a couple whoops and hollers could be heard from the small crowd.

Then she says, “Ok, if anyone wants a paper application,” but she interrupts herself to pickup condoms that had fallen on the floor. “I have those as well.”

“President Obama’s signature legislation is in crisis. Secretary Kerry is negotiating a deeply controversial nuclear deal with Iran. Hillary Clinton is MIA.

“Her only activity since the Obamacare launch nightmare has been paid speeches that’s contents are fiercely guarded. Her team even “no commented” when asked about her husbands comments on the roll-out. She has uttered nary a peep since her successor at State announced a nuclear deal with Iran.

“The Democrats 2016 frontrunner is in hiding. That demonstrates just how weak her party’s current political position is and underscores that Hillary, more than anything is a political animal.

“On issues as big and central to her record as health care and Iran, Hillary is a no comment.”

The Obama administration today announced a year-long delay of online enrollment for small businesses looking to purchase health coverage through federal-run exchanges, another setback for HealthCare.gov.

The delay, first reported by POLITICO, comes just weeks after Obama administration officials said the online enrollment for small businesses would be ready by the end of November. The announcement also comes just three days before the White House promises HealthCare.gov will provide a smoother enrollment experience for most users trying to purchase individual and family coverage. Fixing the problems with the individual market has been the White House priority.

The Obama administration on Tuesday moved to rein in the “dark money” groups that have spent millions of dollars in political campaigns without disclosing their donors.

In draft guidance to be issued by Treasury and the IRS, the administration proposes new standards for tax-exempt groups like the Karl Rove-linked Crossroads GPS.

“This proposed guidance is a first critical step toward creating clear-cut definitions of political activity by tax-exempt social welfare organizations,” said Mark Mazur, Treasury’s assistant secretary for tax policy reports The Hill.

The move springs directly from the controversy over IRS targeting of Tea Party groups, which began after compliance officers singled out political groups seeking tax-exempt status for extra scrutiny.

US now indicates Iran interim deal wasn’t quite finalized
‘Technical details’ have yet to be worked out, State Department says, meaning six-month countdown to permanent deal hasn’t started and Iran isn’t bound by any new terms

Iran is currently enjoying a “window” of time before the six-month deal signed in Geneva early Sunday goes into effect, during which it is not bound to take any credible steps toward disabling its ability to produce a nuclear weapon, the State Department acknowledged Tuesday.

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that the six-month interim period, during which Iran would take steps to rein in its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief, has not yet begun. Furthermore, there are still a number of details to be worked out, she said, without specifying what points had yet to be finalized.

Her comments created confusion as to whether the much-touted interim deal, supposedly reached by P5+1 powers and Iran in Geneva in the early hours of Sunday morning, had actually been completed as claimed. Iran on Tuesday accused the US of publishing an inaccurate account of what had been agreed. And its Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in an address to the Iranian parliament Wednesday that Iran would continue construction on the Arak heavy water plant, in an apparent breach of the ostensibly agreed terms.

“The next step here is a continuation of technical discussions at a working level so that we can essentially tee up the implementation of the agreement,” Psaki told reporters Tuesday. “Obviously, once that’s — those technical discussions are worked through, I guess the clock would start. Obviously, there’ll also be a reconvening of the political track with the P5+1, which Under Secretary Sherman will continue to be our lead negotiator on.”

Psaki said that she did not “have a specific timeline” for how long the window would be in place before the six-month period began, nor did there seem to be any mechanism in place to prevent Iran from stepping up nuclear production before the scale-down went into effect.

    ……………

Hilarious, so this Iran deal is not actually a real deal……is nothing Obama does not full of holes.

  115. Real Clear Politics had this link about Obamacare-Hindenberg law:

    http://moneymorning.com/ob-article/obamacare-democrats.php?src=t-oc-dems

Obamacare Ignites Revolution Inside The Democratic Party
    ==============================================

In a shocking apology on NBC News, President Obama talked about his landmark healthcare bill, and its poor implementation.

“Obviously, we didn’t do a good enough job in terms of how we crafted the law,” President Obama said. “I am sorry that they, you know, are finding themselves in this situation, based on assurances they got from me.”

President Obama backpedaling on Obamacare’s effectiveness is the equivalent of Jefferson rethinking the Louisiana Purchase, or Reagan telling Gorbachev to keep the Berlin Wall up.

And Obama is far from the only Democrat noticing the chinks in Obamacare…

•39th President Jimmy Carter: “His major accomplishment was Obamacare, and the implementation of it now is questionable at best.”

•Barney Frank, former Massachusetts Congressman: “I think we paid a terrible price for health care.”

•Former Democratic Presidential candidate and current Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Howard Dean:

    “The Affordable Care Act’s Rate-Setting Won’t Work.”
Obama is losing control of the Democratic Party. And with a measly approval rating of 39%, he’s losing control of the entire country.

With all the “Defund Obamacare” talk from Ted Cruz, John Boehner, and Rand Paul, it’s easy to think that Republicans are the only ones against Obamacare.

But that just isn’t the case.

That’s because on top of higher healthcare costs, Americans will be hit with a barrage of new taxes… $1 trillion worth.

And these taxes won’t just affect anyone who makes over $250,000 a year.

The bulk of these taxes will be passed on directly to the middle class.

That’s because while a majority of these “stealth taxes” were designed to tax businesses, they’re actually transferred directly to ordinary citizens.

Of course, the Obamacare plan was primarily designed to decrease the number of uninsured Americans and reduce healthcare costs.

But experts are saying it will have the exact opposite effect. In fact, it’s estimated that Obamacare will cost the average taxpayer nearly $6,000 in extra taxes as early as next year!

A McKinsey report now estimates Obamacare will cost taxpayers at least an additional $400 billion more than originally proposed.

And worst of all, millions of Americans will now lose their full-time jobs.

So it’s no surprise that in a recent poll from The Washington Post, 42% of Democrats are against Obamacare; the highest percentage ever.

More and more Democrats are coming out of the woodwork to voice their opposition to the bill. And with midterm elections coming in 2014 Democrats are running-not walking-away from Obamacare.

What started as a promise to insure 40 million Americans has quickly morphed into another game of Washington politics.

And average Americans are getting the short end-again.

With the implementation of Obamacare quickly approaching, Americans are asking what they can do to prepare for all the new costs and rules.

One expert, Betsy McCaughey, former Lieutenant Governor of New York and constitutional scholar with a Ph.D. from Columbia University, recently wrote a best-selling book showing Americans how they can survive Obamacare.

McCaughey is one of the only people in the country-including members of Congress-who has actually read the entire 2,572 page law.

Her book, titled Beating Obamacare: Your Handbook for Surviving the New Health Care Law breaks down the complicated bill into 168 pages of actionable advice.

The book, written in an easy-going, easy-to-read style, shows some startling facts about Obamacare not seen in the mainstream press.

For example, she points to a little known passage in the bill that shows how you could get slapped with a $2,000 fine for not having health insurance – even if you do actually have it.

She also goes into detail explaining how one-third of all U.S. employers could stop offering health insurance to their workers.

In one chapter, she shows how ordinary Americans will get stuck paying for substance abuse coverage even if they never touched a drink or drug in their life.

She warns seniors to get some of those types of procedures done now before Obamacare goes into full effect.

In addition, many will find it difficult to keep their medical records private, according to McCaughey.

“The law will compel Americans to share with millions of strangers who are not physicians confidential private and personal medical history information they do not wish to share.”

Survey finds doctors rebelling against Obamacare, famous hospitals declining to join
    =============

Obamacare applicants across the country are finding their premiums are tripling, their favorite doctors aren’t available, the physicians they can see are often far away and many prestigious hospitals offering specialized care are off-limits to them, according to a Washington Examiner survey of health insurance agents and brokers across the country.

Agents associated with the National Association of Health Underwriters were contacted in 16 cites across the country.

The agents were all certified by state insurance regulators to sell health insurance policies within and without the Obamacare exchanges.

Their responses provide an alarming picture of the profound changes Obamacare is forcing on patients and health care providers.

In parts of California, for example, low reimbursement rates have resulted in a doctor rebellion, as nearly seven out of 10 doctors refuse to participate in the exchanges.

San Diego broker Neil Crosby told the Examiner that “65 to 70 percent of the providers have declined the reimbursement schedules the carriers are offering. They will not be providers in the exchange marketplace.”

Similarly, agent David Fear in Sacramento said, “Roughly a third of the doctors are going to be accepted in the networks. I’m finding very few specialists in either the Anthem or Blue Shield networks.”

Larry Harrison, an agent in Las Vegas, said the “lion’s share” of doctors there are staying away from the exchanges.

On the other side of the country, broker Carol Taylor of Roanoke, Va., estimated that participating doctor networks there are shrinking by 70 percent in the exchange plans.

Meanwhile, nationally known health insurance providers like United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna and Coventry are staying out of the Obamacare exchange marketplaces.

Other well-known companies such as Blue Cross Blue Shield are in, but are sharply narrowing their networks to exclude many doctors, as well as elite hospitals.

As a result, well-known hospitals like Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai, New York’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering and the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital will be out of reach for many exchange patients.

In Naples, Fla., Physicians Regional Hospital will not be available to exchange enrollees. Its parent company purchased the former Cleveland Clinic’s Florida facility in Naples in 2006.

In Georgia, Humana exchange patients are discovering the insurer operates only one approved hospital in the entire state.

The changes wrought by Obamacare are especially hard on patients in rural areas because the new program often puts available medical help far away.

Roanoke’s Taylor said, “just an hour away, in Lynchburg, there is a lot of disruption in that area. They have no providers in that area. They have to drive an hour to see a physician.” None of Lynchburg’s three hospitals are available to exchange patients.

Fear in Sacramento estimated that Anthem exchange customers who live in the Sierra Nevada foothills will find their closest hospital is 50 miles away.

David Mordo, a Fair Haven, N.J, agent, said his customers wonder if they will have any access to their doctors:

“That’s obviously a concern. Will my doctor be in? Will my hospital be in? If my hospital is not in, how long do I have to travel to go to a hospital that is in?”

While health care services for Obamacare customers are being curtailed, premiums are skyrocketing for many of them.

Mark Brown, an agent in Joliet, Ill., said, “if they enroll in the Blue Cross Choice, it’s smaller, much smaller than what it was before. But the prices of these plans have gone up considerably, about 30 to 40 percent.”

Donna Hill in Duluth, Ga., just outside Atlanta, said premiums are 80- to 100-percent higher than those under current policies that offered wider networks.

Gregg Westcott, an agent in Grand Rapids, Mich., said his customers are seeing $300-per-month premiums mushrooming to $900 and $1,400.

Agent Larry Pahlke’s Chicago customers are seeing monthly premiums increase from $425 to $750. “These are really scary numbers for a guy like me,” Pahlke said.

The news isn’t uniformly bad. Connecticut’s medical society sponsored the health co-op there, so there is little likelihood of a doctor shortage there. And Utah’s doctor participation rate is 92 percent.

But New Jersey’s Mordo echoed comments from many of his colleagues across the country when he told the Examiner that “outside the exchange, the provider networks are large. Their network of doctors and hospitals is formidable. It’s very formidable. Inside the exchange, we’re liable to see reduced providers and hospitals.”

The assessments of agents and brokers interviewed by the Examiner are necessarily limited to their particular markets and so should not be viewed as constituting a comprehensive perspective.

Even so, they provide important insights into how the American health care system is being changed by Obamacare.

  118. I love the way Pinkers have come up with their personalized name for ObamaCare.

Most start with ‘Obama’, and then add their own ending.

Make Barry pay for his own healthcare and use the useless plan, and televise him signing up on his laughing-stock website.

I would pay to see that.

  119. Happy Chaukah and Thanksgiving.

    I second that!

What am I thankful for? Good health, a job, loved ones, Big Pink, and keeping Barry’s mits out of my healthcare.

  120. We need to send Bernie Sanders a thank-you note. He doesn’t think Hillary is quite progressive enough, and has too often taken a centrist position. Bernie may run for POTUS as and Independent if Hillary doesn’t become more progressive. I think 2016 will not be the year to a progressive candidate to fare well. Hillary has always been committed to helping families – working or otherwise. Shut-up Bernie!

  121. You don’t have to be walking down a city street to become a victim of this game. You just have to be white (Polar Bear). These people were attacked in their front yards.

Knock Out/Polar Bear Hunting Spreads – Two Attacks In South-West Florida: 72 Year Old While Gardening, 89 Year Old On Front Doorstep…

On Tuesday around 3:50 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a group of people who randomly attacked an unsuspecting victim in the area of South Pointe Boulevard. “I was in shock. Who would expect anything from out of the blue to happen like that. There’s no reason had I done something or said something,” said the 72-year-old Fort Myers victim.

The victim stated that while he was weeding his garden, someone kicked him from behind, knocking him to the ground. The victim says he saw a teenage girl laughing at him before she walked back to join a larger group of teens.

“I didn’t hear anything. There was nobody in the area at all. It was very quiet [when] all of a sudden I felt a blow to my hip and I was on the ground. I turned around to see what happened and there was a girl standing there laughing,” he said.

Concerned citizens saw a group of suspicious teenagers walking down a nearby street and took several photographs with their cell phone, providing investigators with what would later be a crucial piece of evidence.

The investigation into the first incident continued and on Tuesday, a second victim contacted the sheriff’s office.

Harry Hurvitz, 89, told deputies that someone rang his doorbell, and he looked and saw several well-dressed teens standing outside his door and one of them appeared to be holding a cell phone or camera.

When he opened the door, one of the juveniles suddenly and without provocation slapped him in the face. “I stepped out to see what she was pointing to and there was another girl standing here and wammmmmm,” explained Hurvitz.

The entire group then fled, laughing as they ran toward Principia Drive. Hurvitz says he doesn’t want the teen behind bars, saying she needs treatment instead. He adds he’s glad it was him and not someone else.

“There are lots of old ladies here who have guns and revolvers in their possesion and will not open the door unless they are fully armed,” he said. “And they will just let loose.”

Due to the age of the victims and the random, unprovoked nature of the attacks, the Major Crimes Unit began to investigate.

With the assistance of the Youth Services Division, all of the teenagers captured in the witnesses’ cell phone pictures were quickly identified, including the suspect.

  122. Happy Thanksgiving to all….

Sorry I jumped the gun last week; but someone sent me a Thanksgiving greeting and the holiday is not celebrated in these parts, so I lost track. I bawled out my girlfriend for forgetting Thanksgiving and now I’ve been eating turkey for the last week!

Dem Rep. Gwen Moore Attacks Hobby Lobby – Says First Amendment Only Protects Churches and Schools (Video)

Rep. Gwen Moore (D-WI) attacked Hobby Lobby and the other 40 American businesses who are challenging the Supreme Court on the HHS contraception mandate. Moore says the First Amendment only protects churches, schools and places of worship.
    Huh?

“I think that the First Amendment, we revere it. It protects the rights of religious schools, churches, places of worship. And I think the sanctity of that is something we all appreciate as Americans. The Hobby Lobby is not one of those institutions. And the Affordable Care Act says that everyone ought to have basic health care.”

Obviously, Rep. Moore needs to brush up on her Constitution and the First Amendment.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

It’s not clear which Alinsky book she found her version of the First Amendment.

  124. For those on the right who are trying to stack up another Obama failure on Hillary’s shoulders:

    http://www.politico.com/story/2013/11/hillary-clinton-iran-deal-100454.html

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton favors giving diplomacy with Iran a chance to work but has lingering worries about the country making good on its pledges in the recent interim deal to freeze its nuclear program, as well as its support of global terrorism and the Bashar Assad regime in Syria, a source familiar with her thinking said.

Clinton has not yet commented publicly on the deal… and she seems unlikely to jump in with a statement anytime soon….

remaining mum will bring inevitable criticism that Clinton is dodging the issue

Clinton continues to have lingering concerns about a nation that has not made good in the past doing so this time around.

“She’s been remarkably disciplined for her first four years [in the Obama administration], as a team player … there were probably any number of issues she opposed that she stayed out of,” said Aaron David Miller, a Mideast scholar. “I think that speaks to her advantage, it made her look like a classy, very smart pol. I think that’s exactly where she needs to stay. … The way this deal is set up, there are going to be plenty of opportunities to weigh in over the next year.”

Steve Clemons, a foreign policy blogger, predicted…. “I think Hillary will be under pressure from some Jewish-American and hawkish Israel-centric groups, but remember that she took a hard line against settlement expansion when she was secretary of state, and she is smart enough to know the difference between another meaningless crank in the wheel on Iran — and a potentially historic opportunity,” he said. “And she will explain that to these groups.”

  125. To all celebrating this day as a holiday, may it be wonderful!

Group [Families USA] gets $1.1 million grant to collect ObamaCare ‘success stories. 11/28/13
A self-proclaimed non-partisan organization has been given a $1.1 million grant to establish a database of ObamaCare “success stories,” as the Obama administration tries to rehab the law’s image amid the rocky rollout…News of the grant has been revealed in the same week that the White House announced two more delays related to the president’s landmark health care reform law. On Wednesday, the Obama administration announced that it would delay the launch of an online portal to the health insurance marketplace for small businesses until November 2015…Earlier this week, the administration announced that the launch of a Spanish-language sign-up tool would have to be postponed. In recent weeks, the White House has pushed back the enrollment deadline for individuals to December 23, given businesses with more than 50 workers until 2015 to provide required health insurance without paying a penalty, and moved the deadline date for individuals to to avoid penalties for failing to get coverage back for six weeks. Last week, the administration also announced a schedule change in next year’s open enrollment season. It will start on Nov. 15, 2014, a month later than originally scheduled, and finish on Jan. 15, 2015, about five weeks later than originally scheduled. The administration earlier had announced it will allow insurance companies to extend for another year coverage under individual policies that don’t meet new coverage requirements…

Kuwaiti Newspaper: Obama Negotiating with Hezbollah Terrorists

The Obama administration has entered secret talks with the Hezbollah terrorist group, mediated by Great Britain, according to a report in the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai, as relayed by the Jerusalem Post Wednesday.
The State Department lists Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. Thirty years ago, Hezbollah bombed a U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, killing 241. Hezbollah is currently helping to prop up the Assad regime in Syria, in a war that has claimed over 100,000 civilian lives. The organization is also dedicated to Israel’s destruction.

According to the report, President Barack Obama opened the “secret indirect talks” to discuss “the fight against al-Qaida, regional stability, and other Lebanese political issues.” Hezbollah is supported by Iran and has been involved in terrorism throughout the world. It has also been active in other conflicts, laundering money through the trade in illicit diamonds the fueled the civil war in Sierra Leone in the 1990s, for example.

Even the leaders and adults among the AA community who don’t particularly have a problem with black on white hate crimes should be ashamed of this kind of dishonorable, cowardly behavior.

I’m not surprised at Hillary’s comment re: Iran. She has no active role in government. For the present, Hillary’s smartest stance is – wait and see.

  128. IBD Goes There: Obama Life Story Fabricated; Terrorist Wrote Obama Book?

Terrorist Ayers Confesses Sharing Obama’s ‘Dreams’

Trust: We know ObamaCare was sold on a lie, but what about the Obama presidency itself? Rumors that Obama’s violent leftist pal Bill Ayers ghostwrote the memoir that launched his political career may actually be true.

Obama has always claimed authorship of his bestselling “Dreams From My Father.”

But Ayers is telling a different story. In promoting his new book, “Public Enemy,” Ayers’ publisher, Beacon Press, has written a blurb on Amazon.com that says Ayers “finally ‘confesses’ that he did write ‘Dreams From My Father.'”

The boast appears in other promotions for the book as well. For instance, a Baltimore bookstore Red Emma’s last week posted a similar claim that Ayers penned Obama’s memoir as part of an announcement for a book-signing event at the leftist coffeehouse.

The reprehensible former terrorist twice before laid claim to Obama’s book once during a post-election interview and again during a speech two years ago.

In October 2009, Ayers told an interviewer at Reagan National Airport in Washington that he wrote “Dreams From My Father.” Asked if he meant he “heavily edited” the book for his friend, Ayers insisted, “I wrote it.”

He added that Michelle Obama asked him to help Obama, who had blown deadlines and was struggling with delivering a manuscript.

Then in March 2011, Ayers revealed his role in the book after giving a speech at Montclair State University in New Jersey. During a question-and-answer session, a member of the audience remarked how well Obama’s first memoir was written.

Ayers agreed and offered that Obama’s second autobiography “Audacity of Hope” paled in comparison. He said “the second one was more of a political hack book, but the first book’s quite good.”

Then Ayers volunteered, “Did you know I wrote it?”

“What’s that?” the startled questioner asked.

“I wrote ‘Dreams From My Father,'” Ayers asserted.

Obama’s media protectors wrote those statements off as “sarcasm.” But now Ayers is publishing the claim.

It’s not as far-fetched as it sounds.

Ayers befriended Obama and his new wife well before Random House published his book in June 1995.

Ayers and Obama worked together on a panel approving grants for far-left causes. Later that year, Ayers and his radical wife launched Obama’s political career during a fundraiser at their Hyde Park home.

If Ayers, who was an accomplished writer, aided Obama, it was a godsend.

  129. The only reason the GOP wants Hillary to speak out NOW is because they need fresh meat for their new PAC, to try and frame her as being unworthy of being President.

Since here isn’t any fresh meat yet, they decide to attack Hillary for that lack of fresh meat.

As far as I am concerned, Hillary can let the GOP, Obama and his very left wing Kooks stew until she is ready to jump into the race, if she does.

Letting the fans of MaybeTwoDropsOfNativeAmerianBlood build up their false hopes of unicorn droppings, and watching Barry’s ineptness become more and more apparent as time goes on…this is something the voters need to see and be exposed to.

We all knew this ObamaHellCare was going to be a total disaster, (Nasty, “We have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it”.) and now the media can’t cover up this epic bamboozlement by Barry and the insurance companies.

I believe Hillary is saying plenty in her private talks, that’s why the GOP and media are shut out. I’m not saying she is squealing like a little girl against Obama, but she is doing it with class so everyone in the room knows where she stands.

Also, the GOP and Kooks would like nothing more than to see/hear Hillary attack Obama…so they can divide the Dem. party and bring it to it’s knees.

The Kooks are nitwits, they think they are in the majority now, after seeing the unqualified one they thought was their savior, steal the elections.

Hillary still has a few more months before she comes out with guns blazing, to let the public see firsthand what a fraud they have elected, she can wait a little while before it’s time for a mop up on isle 1600.
