#Breaking – Terror Attack In Obama Voting Boston?

Update III: Barack Obama refused to say the obvious. But while making sure that there is no video of the remark which can expose them politically for the security failure of leadership – we are told sotto voce the Boston bombing clearly an act of terror says WH official. Whoop-te-do.

DailyKooks and other low hanging nuts (including the despicable Matthews O’Tingles) are blaming the Tea Party for the terror attack because today is tax day and Patriots Day in Boston and because parents of the Newtown Connecticut shootings were invited and honored at the marathon. But domestic political attacks usually have some logic to them. If bombs exploded at IRS offices in Boston or post offices or even police stations then domestic terrorist groups might be suspect. These nonsensical attacks on American events or locales are usually the hallmark of people who hate America first and last.

The physical body count earlier today:

“There were at least 111 victims at six area hospitals on Monday night. Brigham and Women’s Hospital said it was treating 26 victims, the largest number, and said two were at risk of losing limbs. Boston Medical Center said it had received 23, and Massachusetts General Hospital was treating 22 patients, including six in critical condition and five in serious condition. Beth Israel Deaconess had 21 patients, and Tufts Medical Center had received nine.”

Reports have it that the youngest killed was 8 years old. Reports also surfaced that “five additional, undetonated explosive devices around the Boston area” have been found and neutralized. The search for suspects however continues:

For sure a Tea Party member.

Update II: As one of our commenters asks, how long before Barack Obama blames his failure of leadership and the Boston Marathon terror attack on the sequester?

The New York Post reports a suspect is in custody. Could it really be a (surprise that it is a) Saudi national?:

“A federal law-enforcement source confirmed to The Post there are at least 12 dead and nearly 50 injured. Fox News reported that Massachusetts General Hospital was treating 10 people with amputated limbs and all operating rooms were on hold.

Authorities have a identified a suspect, a Saudi national, who is currently being guarded in a Boston hospital with shrapnel wounds.

We would be surprised if this early report is entirely accurate. Saudi terrorist’s have much more experience blowing up Americans so to be caught so quickly would confound suspicious us.

Confirmed is a fire, possibly due to a bomb, at the JFK Library. More video:

Update: Today’s explosions have knocked Kermit Gosnell coverage off the front pages the story never appeared on anyway (including us here at Big Pink). Fairly or unfairly, wisely or not, today’s terror attack at the Boston Marathon will also impact the gun control debate for which the votes don’t exist anyway even with the contents stripped of all the bans and scams Barack Obama wanted. Immigration reform will also be impacted as questions of border jumping terrorists will now come to the fore no matter how much Big Media steers the conversation to sympathetic portraits of families divided by immigration laws and flaws.

Reports that ball bearings flew as part of the bombs planted in Boston are made more ominous when coupled with reports that more bombs have been found and defused.

Before the Obama Hopium Guzzlers accuse us of politicizing this terror attack, which we are and rightly so, we’ll point out that Kristof is busy making political attacks and Obama won’t let this crisis go to waste.

The explosion as it happened:

—————————————————————–

We were just about to hit the “publish” button on our scheduled new article focused on Kermit Gosnell. But now news is breaking: Explosion at Boston Marathon.

It’s going to be an update kind of day.

We don’t know yet if it is a Middle East type terror attack but bombs at the finish line do not inspire the thought that this was celebratory fireworks. People are dead however, 20 – 30 at least injured. The pictures are ugly. This is not an accident:

“Multiple casualties are reported after at least two explosions were heard near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, according to the Boston Herald.

Witnesses reportedly heard two booms that sounded like two claps of thunder near the finish line inside the Fairmount Copley Plaza Hotel.

The explosions occurred just before 3 p.m. Video of the scene showed a number of emergency crews in the area tending to victims and blood on the ground near the finish line.

“I saw two explosions. The first one was beyond the finish line. I heard a loud bang and I saw smoke rising,” Boston Herald reporter Chris Cassidy, who was running in the marathon, told the newspaper. “I kept running and I heard behind me a loud bang. It looked like it was in a trash can or something…There are people who have been hit with debris, people with bloody foreheads.”

A photographer with Fox affiliate WFXT reported seeing a number of victims with lost limbs.”

Be sure to thank Barack Obama for keeping us safe. Yeah right. Obama will get us all killed.

  1. Jesus, what is this world coming too when you cant even attend events like a marathon. Bastards.

  2. Avoid trash bins…

Boston scanner: Device was in a “trash barrel … All officers responding in the area, beware of trash containers.”

  3. My wife heard it on the news, and they reported that two bombs were set off, but she found it suspicious that Big Media was not using the “T” word (terrori…)

  4. If this happened under Bush, the Mother Jones / MoveOn crowd would be yelling “incompetence!!”.

I’ll give them 24 hours to lean on “their guy”.

But I expect them to say stuff like:

“You can’t lay this at Obama’s feet”.

“The Republicans’ sequestration maneuvers undermined Homeland Security.”

“The Koch Bros. are trying make Obama look weak”.

  5. When there is one explosion followed by a second explosion it is either (1) a gas line type explosion which leads to secondary explosions as the pipe (gas or steam, etc.) empties itself of explosive force; (2) a bomb meant to injure followed by a second bomb to kill rescuers or gawkers.

  6. daily mail reporting 12 dead 60 injured not sure if they are wrong or american media holding back facts.

  7. we may have wildfire rumours…..so beware stuff…

Sky news saying bombs were filled with ballbearings, so it was deliberate.

  8. BREAKING: Intelligence official: 2 more explosive devices found at Boston Marathon site; being dismantled

  12. Leonora we posted that Saudi angle in our update because we noticed that most of the Big Media reports are stating that there is a suspect in custody but there is no mention of the nationality of the suspect. Not odd at all is it? The Fort Hood terrorist news suppression all over again.

Saudi Arabian nationals will experience better chances of traveling to America and getting their American visa.

This is as a result of US President Barack Obama having lifted most of the restrictions of Saudis entering the country.

According to Joseph Hood, US Consul General in the city of Dhahran, the United States is currently aiming at increasing the number of United States of America visa approvals on an annual basis. This vision now extends to Saudi nationals as it recognizes them to be an important group.

  14. Update – Boston police commissioner says investigators have not linked fire at JFK library to Boston marathon explosions

sure, you get fires coincidentally at the JFK all the time as bombs are going off in Boston…………..

  15. At CNN the speculation is “right wing” extremist groups:

    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/matt-hadro/2013/04/15/cnn-analyst-suggests-right-wing-extremists-could-be-behind-boston-bombin#ixzz2QZGkklSH

JAKE TAPPER: Peter, does this – obviously we don’t want to speculate. We don’t know what this was. But is there reason for people who deal in counter-terrorism to think that this is an act of terrorism? Or suspect it strongly, at least?

PETER BERGEN: Sure. Although I’m reminded of Oklahoma City which was a bombing, which was initially treated as a gas explosion. So first reports are often erroneous. But the fact that there were two explosions – two bombings – one of the things I’d be looking at is once the device, if it is a device, is found, what kind of explosives were used? For instance, if it was hydrogen peroxide, this is a signature of al-Qaeda. If it was more conventional explosives, which are much harder to get a hold of now, that might be some other kind of right-wing extremists. We’ve seen a number of failed bombing attempts by al-Qaeda using bombs, (Unintelligible) and for instance, the Manhattan subway in 2009, Faisal Shahzad in 2010, the attempt to bring down Northwest Flight 253 over Detroit in 2009. But we’ve also seen other extremist groups, right-wing groups, for instance, trying to attack the Martin Luther King parade in Oregon in 2010.

Couldn’t possibly be a Bill Ayres type?

  16. The NYPost story has it as a “suspect” in custody. Other news reports say it is “a person of interest” that is in custody.

  17. http://newsbusters.org/blogs/ken-shepherd/2013/04/15/al-sharptons-radio-producer-tweets-speculation-anti-gov-group-behind-b

At 3:38 p.m. Eastern, Huffington Post blogger and Al Sharpton radio producer Nida Khan speculated on Twitter that an anti-government group may be responsible for the deadly bombings at the Boston Marathon.

“We don’t know anything yet of course, but it is tax day & my first thought was all these anti-gov groups, but who knows,” tweeted Khan, who immediately received a lot of blowback on Twitter for politicizing the tragedy. But rather than back down, Khan defended her speculation in subsequent tweets like these:

  18. Peter Bergen is a rambling idiot.
Where’s Brian Ross to blame the Tea Party? After all, it is tax day and it happened in Boston, what other proof do you need?

  19. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2309570/Boston-explosions-Suspect-held-Boston-hospital-police-reveal-bomb-went-JFK-Library.html

A potential suspect in the Boston marathon attacks is being held by police in hospital, according to reports, while another man was arrested on the Common

According to one report the suspect in hospital was a Saudi-Arabian national while the other – a man – was photographed handcuffed on the common .

The reports claim the hospitalized suspect was himself injured by shrapnel from the finish line explosions and has severe injuries.

The New York Post said a police source told them the suspect was a Saudi Arabian national and other outlets reported a ‘person of interest’ was under police guard.

Police said there had been no arrests despite the pictured of a man in cuffs.

‘At this time, we haven’t been notified of any arrests or anyone apprehended,’ the spokesperson said.

Other reports suggested one line of inquiry was an individual caught on camera before the attack carrying multiple backpacks into the area – 20 minutes before the deadly blasts.

It came as police were believed to be looking at whether bombs were planted in trashcans along the route.

Another possible link is that today is Patriot’s Day in Massachusetts.

The Oklahoma City bombing took place two days after Patriot’s Day in 1995.

An FBI source told Mail Online it was an area being examined.

The two blasts occurred almost concurrently near the finish line of the marathon killing 2 and injuring dozens.

Police initially said a third blast occurred at the John F.Kennedy Presidential Library but later reported it was an unrelated fire.

Cellphone service was shut down across the area to prevent any potential remote detonations

Police were also said to be investigating the surveillance video of a potential suspect carrying backpacks.

The report appeared to corroborate earlier suggestions that small homemade bombs were responsible for the attacks designed to go off in unison and cause mass casualties across the city.

Police were in a desperate race against time to find secondary devices this afternoon and said the task had been complicated by the items discarded by spectators fleeing the scene.

Multiple reports were flooding in in the moments after the attack saying there were devices reported outside Harvard and other sites along the marathon route but police said none were confirmed as explosives so far.

All off-duty officers in the city called back on duty as dog units were sent in to help the emergency response.

  20. Obama still comes off as aloof and robot sounding. I mean after 5 years he could have at least perfected the insincere acting down.

  21. admin

At CNN the speculation is “right wing” extremist groups:

    ——
I was just talking to an older Obama supporter, and he speculated it could be a right wing nut that was against gun control, etc. I looked at him like he had two hears, laughed in his face and said, are you kidding? Told him that was the most off the wall idea I had ever heard.

Now I know where that bs came from.

  22. An article from July 2012:

    http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/opedcolumnists/of_massacres_media_myths_iwxYulFJ9jKcrBTk50kpOL

Media assumptions that violence is right-wing are routine — and routinely wrong.

On Friday morning, Brian Ross of ABC News speculated on live TV that James Holmes, the accused killer in Aurora, Colo., was a member of the Tea Party. A few hours later, Ross posted a short apology online; Holmes had no Tea Party connection. [snip]

    * September 2009: The discovery of hanged census-taker Bill Sparkman in rural Kentucky fueled media speculation that he’d been killed by anti-government Tea Partiers. In fact, he’d killed himself and staged his corpse to look like a homicide so his family could collect on life insurance.

    * February 2010: Joe Stack flew his small plane into an IRS building in Austin, Texas. The media immediately suggested that the anti-tax rhetoric of the Tea Party led to the attack. In fact, Stack’s suicide note quoted the Communist Manifesto.

    * That same month, a professor at the University of Alabama, Amy Bishop, shot and killed three colleagues at a faculty meeting. The gun-loving Tea Party came under immediate suspicion. But Bishop was a lifelong Democrat and Obama donor.

    * March 2010: John Patrick Bedell shot two Pentagon security officers at close range. The media went wild with speculation that a right-wing extremist had reached the end of his rope. Bedell turned out to be a registered Democrat and 9/11 Truther.

    * May 2010: New York authorities disarmed a massive car bomb in Times Square. Mayor Bloomberg immediately speculated that the bomber was someone upset about the president’s new health-care law. The media trumpeted the idea that crazed conservatives had (again, they implied) turned to violence. In fact, the perp was Faisal Shahzad, an Islamic extremist.

    * August 2010: Amidst the debate over the Ground Zero Mosque, Michael Enright stabbed a Muslim cab driver in the neck. It was immediately dubbed an “anti-Muslim stabbing,” with “rising Islamophobia” on the political right to blame. In fact, Enright, a left-leaning art student, had worked with a firm that produced a pro-mosque statement.

    * September 2010: James Lee, 43, took three hostages at the Discovery Channel’s headquarters in Maryland. The media speculation was unstoppable: Lee was surely a “climate-change denier” who’d resorted to violence. Oops: He was an environmentalist who viewed humans as parasites on the Earth.

    * January 2011: Jared Lee Loughner went on a rampage in Tucson, Ariz. Again the media knew just who to blame: the Tea Party and its extremist rhetoric. In fact, Loughner was mostly apolitical — a conspiracy theorist who, to date, has been judged too mentally incompetent to stand trial.

The media’s habitual blaming of the political right is endemic and incurable. Media figures sincerely believe the right wing is violent, so naturally assume that violent people must be right-wing. This won’t be the last time they make that mistake.

  23. I don’t have the stomach to listen to Barry’s news conference, but CNN has this on their site:

    Obama doesn’t say ‘terror’

  24. Enjoy the very late report from Politico using euphemisms and Orwellian language to avoid communicating in clear English:

    http://www.politico.com/story/2013/04/white-house-dc-nyc-boost-security-boston-90085.html?hp=t1

Law enforcement is investigating a foreign national in connection with Monday’s powerful twin bombings at the Boston Marathon, POLITICO has learned.

The foreigner, who was badly burned, was in the United States on a student visa and is considered a person of interest and possible suspect in the case but has not been formally charged or arrested.

The potential suspect is currently being treated at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, where the emergency room was evacuated for a time earlier Monday.

Several media outlets have indicated law enforcement is focusing on a Saudi Arabian national, but POLITICO did not immediately confirm the nationality of the foreigner drawing attention from the authorities.

President Barack Obama on Monday vowed that whoever carried out the bombings near the world famous race’s finish line would be found and brought to justice.

“We still do not know who did this or why, and people shouldn’t jump to conclusions before we have all the facts,” Obama said in a televised briefing from the White House. “But, make no mistake, we will get to the bottom of this, and we will find out who did this we’ll find out why they did this. Any responsible individuals, any responsible groups, will feel the full weight of justice.” [snip]

Obama was briefed on the incident – which he did not call a terrorist attack – earlier in the day. While Obama didn’t use the word terrorism in his address to the county, the White House did.

Any event with multiple explosive devices – as this appears to be – is clearly an act of terror, and will be approached as an act of terror,” a White House official said. “However, we don’t yet know who carried out this attack, and a thorough investigation will have to determine whether it was planned and carried out by a terrorist group, foreign or domestic.”

  25. Prays to victims , the injured and their loved ones. I was relieved to be able to reach my
child who attends school in Boston. Obama’s statement was uninspiring and again refused to call terror , terror(see Libya)..

  26. JbStonesFan, JtJames, and all others with friends in Boston: we were frantic making calls to those we knew were at the marathon as well as those we thought might go there. A short while ago the last unknown called in safe. A lot of people went through what you did JBStonesFan/JtJames.

  27. Update III: Barack Obama refused to say the obvious. But while making sure that there is no video of the remark which can expose them politically for the security failure of leadership – we are told sotto voce the Boston bombing clearly an act of terror says WH official. Whoop-te-do.

    he is vile…

  29. First and FOREMOST, my prayers for the families of the deceased and for all the injured.

Second, to the police and first-responders of Boston…a job amazingly done and many have your thanks for saving their lives today.

I watched Obama’s speech on RealClearPolitics (for those who haven’t seen it, go there) and I can’t think of a less convincing speech of reassurance given since pretty much anything that came out of Jimmy Carter’s mouth.

Yea, it will be the “sequester” at fault for this and no, it won’t be Obama for demanding it way back when because he thought he was clever with this.

When are we as a country going to elect a real leader? Where have all the leaders gone?

  30. Sidenote because this also will not get media attention due to today’s events…Obama’s tax rate. And he had the NERVE to campaign against Romney for his taxes?

  31. A roundup of yesterday’s horrible events. It seems like the media is still pushing their ‘right-wing extremist’ theory. I’m afraid that we aren’t going to get the truth. We know from several sources that the suspect is a Saudi. I’m afraid he is going to go the way of John Doe 2. Remember him?

Boston Marathon bombing roundup: Obama vows ‘will feel the full weight of justice’ as accusations fly
Despite the massive lack of information – and a great deal of misinformation – about the Boston Marathon bombings (over a dozen updates at that link), baseless accusations have been made by media talking heads about the people or group behind the attack.

  32. With a 20-year-old Saudi National an alleged suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings…consider this

In 2004, only about 1,000 Saudis were studying in the U.S., according to the U.S. State Department. This past school year, Saudi Arabia sent 66,000 students to U.S. universities, four times the number before the 2001 attacks and the fastest-growing source of foreign students in the U.S., ahead of China, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.

    http://www.barenakedislam.com/2013/04/15/with-a-20-year-old-saudi-national-an-alleged-suspect-in-the-boston-marathon-bombings-consider-this/

  33. Hate industry: Fastest growing sector under Obama
WASHINGTON, April 15, 2013 — The Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Brotherhood, and American Nazi Party are the old haters: They tend to get shot a lot, lose limbs, or end up in prison. Those groups are lucky if they have a strip mall office in what used to be a failed shoe store.
The new hate industry has big shiny buildings, richly paid executives, lots of staff, fancy public relations firms, tons of positive media headlines, and hundreds of millions of dollars — sometimes billions — in annual revenue. They are invited into and appointed to offices on-high in government, schools, and law enforcement.
Today’s hate industry does not make itself conspicuous by burning crosses, conducting lynchings, or orchestrating bombings—at least not in the traditional sense. Today’s hate industry is based on labeling others as haters. That’s where the profit is, whether that means money, power, or (usually) both.
Hate-labeling is flourishing within the halls of government and the self-anointed media; it’s encouraged at the highest levels, by President Barack Obama himself.
The target is not violent people intent on hurting fellow citizens or blowing up the government, but instead those who are pro-family, pro-faith, pro-life — anyone who has pro-American values. Clever marketing schemes like “war on women,” the “one per-centers,” and not doing “your fair share” mask the true nature of the underlying hate campaign. Other hate cards include words like homophobic, tolerance, extreme, and ignorant.
Does Obama hate pre-Obama America? … Obama personally selected former Kansas governor Kathleen Sebelius to head up Health and Human Services, the epicenter of Obamacare. She is so militantly pro-abortion that her Catholic bishop banned her from receiving Holy Communion — an extraordinary action dictated by Canon 915 that is (too) rarely employed….

  34. Obama Vows Justice In Boston Attack While Ignoring Benghazi & Ft. Hood

“We will find out who did this, and we will hold them accountable’

Oh, really…is that so? Let’s review:

8 months ago, September 11, 2012, the American Consulate in Libya was attacked by Muslim terrorists, and Obama and his White House staff sat idly by and lifted not one finger to stop it or send in reinforcements during the 9 hour firefight which claimed the lives of US Ambassador Chris Stevens, US Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith, and Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone S. Woods. In fact, Obama’s State Department had already removed the bullets from the security detail there to protect the Consulate.

Shortly after that occurred, the Black Flag of Islam was flown over the US Embassy in Tunisia, after it was overrun by Muslim terrorists there. And then, not two full weeks after the Benghazi Massacre, Obama made this remark at the United Nations:

“The Future Must Not Belong To Those Who Slander The Prophet Of Islam” – Barack Hussein Obama

    http://www.nowtheendbegins.com/blog/?p=13727

  35. “We will find out who did this, and we will hold them accountable’

Leanora. Obama stumbled onto my name LOL.I did not realize he is aware of the phrase.

  36. The Hill’s saying Repubs will not act on abortion. One day after Obama fessed up to knowing of it. Convenient. But there are attempts to keep hard-fought acknowledgement alive. Here is a great link. Just noticed it. Have no idea what it has been, or what it may become. But for now, http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/the-five/content/kimberly-guilfoyle-takes-you-inside-kermit-gosnell-murder-trial.

And it might be fun watching Toomey-Manchin argue with context of Boston bombing front and center.

  37. I heard a hint of this today on an AM news crawl. A search led to this month+ -old report which may not be news to Big Pink:
Kerry Says He Visited Benghazi Survivor … So Why Haven’t We Heard from Others?
    March 5, 2013
ROSEN: They’re already wrapping me here, so I’ve got to be very quick; I’m so sorry.
KERRY: Oh, I’m sorry. But let me just say: the key here is that we are implementing the lessons that we learned from Benghazi, and that’s the key.
ROSEN: President Obama vowed that the perpetrators of those attacks would be brought to justice. As you know, any law enforcement or counter-terrorism officer would tell you: the longer the passage of time after the given event, the less likely it is that you will bring the perpetrators to justice. It’s been six months. Will we see justice brought to those perpetrators, and isn’t the passage of time making that more and more unlikely?
KERRY: James, I hope we will. And I know the president is committed to try to do so. And I have personally talked to the FBI director to get a brief on exactly where we stand in that process.
ROSEN: What did he tell you?
KERRY: He told me – literally on the eve of his departure to go to Tripoli, in order to talk with people – that they are doing everything they can within the FBI to conduct their investigation and to lay the groundwork in order to be able to bring justice. That effort continues –
ROSEN: We’re six months – we’re six months out.
KERRY: Justice sometimes takes a while when you operate by high standards and when you need the levels of evidence that we do. But we are working at it and we will continue to work at it.
    http://nation.foxnews.com/benghazi/2013/03/05/kerry-says-he-visited-benghazi-survivor-doesnt-know-when-well-hear-others

The interview is really lame of course. The news that came across on a very bried TV crawl ( ≈ Kerry visits Benghazi victim) earlier today made it seem like progress on Benghazi was being achieved. Imagine that was the hope of persons deciding to release that now.

The Pennsylvania Democratic U.S. senator, who just won his re-election in 2012, is looking to refill his coffers this summer at a fundraiser held at the sold out Beyonce concert in Washington…loving the pop star is apparently bipartisan. Republican Rep. John
Shimkus from Illinois is also holding a fundraiser at the concert, though unlike Casey he’s not expected to attend….

    Indeed. Scumbags.
I did not even find their video of Morning Joe criticing Obama for 18% taxation rate to be convincing. Was going to take it to my part of FB. Hope I’m not hurting feelings here, but I wound up deciding it did not make the case they were pretending it would. Admittedly, I did not get further than the first half before I decided.

  41. Police raid Boston home linked to burned Saudi student who was ‘acting suspiciously’ near marathon finish line after bombs that killed 3 and injured 176

    – Ball bearings in the bombs
    – Saudi student was captured by a civilian that noticed the student acting peculiar before the bombs went off.
    – Five minutes before the first explosion, officials said the hooded man attempted to gain entry to a restricted area but was turned away. Authorities say he may be a foreign national, based on his accent.
    – Other reports suggested one line of inquiry was an individual caught on camera before the attack carrying multiple backpacks into the area 20 minutes before the deadly blasts.

    The Paradox Of Absolutism
    -LauraW.
You’ll Get Nothing, And Like It

Sometimes when people are highly ideological, and driven to score all the points they can for their team, they fail to appreciate the necessary political compromises that exist in society. This is not a game, this is a nation. And absolutism simply fails to thrive in American politics.

In response to the Gosnell trial, some absolutist pro-choice folks are saying that the reason Gosnell’s slaughterhouse was so awful is because late-term abortions should be legal, and women were ‘driven underground’ to see this illegal doctor.

Gosnell was a legal and known abortion provider, not ‘underground.’ His transgressions would have been caught if only he had been subject to the same inspections that every other outpatient facility is subject to. It sure wasn’t rightwing zealots that shielded him from ordinary audits.

But that’s neither here nor there. We need to address this insistence that there be no limits on abortion. Which means to legalize the termination of large, healthy babies that pose no risk to the mother’s life.

The problem with absolutism is that it shoots itself in the foot. Truly radical pro-choicers do not understand that the assumption that abortion primarily kills very tiny, unviable blobs, is the very thing that keeps abortion legal. It is in fact the only thing keeping a majority of people ignoring the subject.

In the case of abortion, this is the social/ political compromise that exists within the non-ideological crowd (most people): Many are willing to say that abortion is wrong (or at least not good), but the majority of these are also willing to allow it, as long as the understanding is that ‘a clump of cells’ is being eliminated.

As long as the belief persists among most reasonable people that the child has not been formed yet, and will not suffer, they will tolerate this practice even if they think it is wrong.

However, as soon as they understand that big, live, squealing babies are being murdered in abortion facilities, the spell is broken. There will be a closer look. And we know in our bones there are more Kermit Gosnells out there, don’t we? It behooves all absolutists to observe the kneecapping that pro-choicers will give themselves if they continue to very stupidly get on the wrong side of this issue and actually argue for a more obvious and expansive infanticide.

This is what happens in the case of unrestricted late-term abortion:

    a) If a woman wants her baby, he is her precious newborn son, a patient of the hospital, and even if prematurely delivered he will receive humane medical care.

    b) If the woman does not want her baby, cut his head off and toss the body in the bin with the others.

Note that the difference between a) and b) is merely the emotional whim of one parent. This is what distinguishes this killing as ‘abortion’ and not infanticide, to the extremist end of the pro-choice crowd.

On the lady’s word, that which would otherwise be considered a child, lives or dies.

This is not a good enough distinction or reason. Humans recoil from this.

When innocent little babies are in danger, most human beings – not deranged mutants like Amanda Marcotte, but actual, decent people – feel an imperative to intervene. If you tried to harm a child within the sight of most people, they would hasten to reduce you to ‘a clump of cells.’

Everyone knows that people love babies and children. This is why the pro-choice side uses the terms ‘fetus,’ or ‘clump of cells.’ This is why they constantly hammer the idea that this is just like any other ordinary medical procedure. They understand the importance of eliminating the notion that babies are being harmed.

And this is also why the pro-life forces are constantly trying to show those gory photos of very tiny aborted babies. Because they are trying to smash the sterile concept that keeps people from caring about abortion as a moral issue.

Most folks do not want to live in a state of public upheaval. Most folks are willing to live with less than their ideal, in favor of the good. We make these little social agreements so that we can live mostly peacefully. Compromise doesn’t make difficult issues go away, but it transforms them into ones that only a relative few are willing to go to war over.

In the abortion compromise, the pro-choice crowd has had the better end of the deal for decades. A significant part of three generations of the youth of America have been vacuumed from their mothers’ wombs; millions of children destroyed, never to be named or known.

If the absolutist pro-choice crowd tries to expand upon the definition of a disposable fetus to include what are obviously big healthy babies, they will ultimately break the social stalemate on abortion, to the detriment of their own cause.

So, you know. Go for it.

  43. WASHINGTON (AP) — The explosives used in the deadly Boston Marathon bombing were contained in 6-liter pressure cookers and hidden in black duffel bags on the ground, a person briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

One of the explosives contained shards of metal and ball bearings, and another contained nails, the person said.

A second person briefed on the investigation confirmed that at least one of the explosives was made out of a pressure cooker. Both spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.

Two bombs blew up seconds apart Monday at the finish line of one of the world’s most storied races, tearing off victims’ limbs and leaving the streets spattered with blood and strewn with broken glass. Three people were killed, including an 8-year-old boy, and more than 170 were wounded.

President Barack Obama said called the explosions a terrorist attack and said law enforcement and intelligence officials were trying to determine who was responsible. No one has claimed responsibility for the bombings.

These types of pressure cooker explosives have been used in Afghanistan, India, Nepal and Pakistan, according to a July 2010 joint FBI and Homeland Security intelligence report. One of the three devices used in the May 2010 Times Square attempted bombing was a pressure cooker, the intelligence report said.

“Placed carefully, such devices provide little or no indication of an impending attack,” the report said.

The Pakistani Taliban, which claimed responsibility for the 2010 attempt in Times Square, has denied any role in the Boston Marathon attack.

Law enforcement has not yet determined what was used to set off the explosives. Typically, these bombs have an initiator, switch and explosive charge, according to a 2004 warning from the Homeland Security Department about these types of explosives.

“We will go to the ends of the Earth to identify the subject or subjects who are responsible for this despicable crime, and we will do everything we can to bring them to justice,” said Richard DesLauriers, FBI agent in charge in Boston.

Investigators in Boston are combing surveillance tapes and pictures from Monday.

  44. Obama’s snub to Thatcher: President won’t send envoy to funeral – and leaves it to her old allies from the Reagan era

The Queen’s decision to attend Lady Thatcher’s funeral has effectively elevated it to a state occasion unprecedented for a political figure in Britain since the death of Sir Winston Churchill in 1965.

Other world leaders, including Canada’s Stephen Harper, Mario Monti of Italy and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, are attending the service in person.

  46. Ladies (and gay men presumably): Do not go to the United Arab Emirates – the men are too handsome to resist! 🙂

    http://www.arabianbusiness.com/uae-men-too-handsome-for-saudi-festival-498216.html#.UW2JZoJ4xeV

Three Emirati men were ejected from a festival in Saudi Arabia as they were deemed “too handsome”, leading authorities to fear women could become attracted to them, it has been reported.

According to Arabic language Elaph newspaper, the UAE nationals were taking part in a heritage event in the capital Riyadh on Sunday when they were thrown out by Saudi’s religious police.

Saudi Arabia, a strictly conservative Sunni Muslim society, prohibits women from interacting with unrelated males.

“A festival official said the three Emiratis were taken out on the grounds they are too handsome and that the Commission members feared female visitors could fall for them,” the newspaper said.

Is “too handsome” some sort of euphemism?

  47. ‘too handsome’ – I wanna see photos of these Brad Pitt’s of Arabia.

Do they shave and wear real men’s clothes?

  50. Hard to speak to this tragedy in Boston, my daughter runs marathons, she could have been there. One of her friends was there and is on the cover of USA today because the bomb exploded 10 seconds after he crossed the finish line. He is wearing Texas running shorts and the blast is behind him. Ten seconds… His wife, thankfully was farther back and also unharmed.

He is an ass’t Principal in a Texas Middle school
