After Chuckles The Clown And The Libya Fibya Last Night – What Will Bill Clinton Do?

Update II: As we wrote below, we want a thorough and immediate investigation that includes testimony from Hillary Clinton (we also want State Department leaks to continue) before election day.

Republican/conservative super website Powerline keeping it real. They know the problem is Barack Obama. Via Powerline, excerpts (we’ve removed the State Department call portions, go to the website for that) of What Happened In Benhazi:

“The State Department has released a transcript of a briefing that two high-ranking department officials gave to a number of reporters via conference call on October 9 (Tuesday). I am not certain about this, but I believe the transcript was only made public today. You should read it in its entirety; it is the most detailed description I have seen of the events in Benghazi on September 11.

While this is by no means clear, it appears that the State Department may have released the transcript as part of the escalating conflict between Barack Obama and Joe Biden and the Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton. In their desperation to avoid responsibility for the Benghazi debacle, Obama and Biden have pointed fingers in two directions: at the intelligence community for reporting incorrectly that the incident was a protest over a YouTube video clip, and at the State Department for not providing adequate security for the Ambassador.

Here are some excerpts from the narrative: [snip]

Barack Obama, meanwhile, was jetting off to Las Vegas for a fundraiser.

It was obvious to the reporters on the call that this narrative blows Obama’s evasions sky high: [snip]

This exchange is priceless:

OPERATOR: The next question is from the line of Brad Klapper with AP. Please, go ahead.

QUESTION: Hi, yes. You described several incidents you had with groups of men, armed men. What in all of these events that you’ve described led officials to believe for the first several days that this was prompted by protests against the video?

SENIOR STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL TWO: That is a question that you would have to ask others. That was not our conclusion. I’m not saying that we had a conclusion, but we outlined what happened. The Ambassador walked guests out around 8:30 or so, there was no one on the street at approximately 9:40, then there was the noise and then we saw on the cameras the – a large number of armed men assaulting the compound.

So Hillary Clinton and the State Department unequivocally reject the account that Barack Obama and Joe Biden have given. It is hard to imagine what “intelligence” reports Obama could have received that blamed the YouTube video. He is lying, evidently.

Update: As we write below, “Let’s Rumble”. We are not alone in asking: Is the White House throwing Hillary under the bus on the Benghazi attack?

Ed Klein says the rumble is on:

“In fact, since the convention, Clinton and Obama have had a serious falling-out over two issues: the president’s preparation and lamentable performance in his debate with Mitt Romney, and the question of who should be assigned blame — Obama or Secretary of State Hillary Clinton — for the intelligence and security screw-up in Benghazi, Libya.

This new rift, which the Clintons and Obamas have managed to keep secret from the media, has poisoned their relations to such an extent that it could conceivably have an impact on the outcome of the presidential election. [snip]

Despite their mutual lack of trust, Clinton and Obama have managed to keep their personal feelings under control — up to now. But in the wake of the fatal attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Clinton is concerned that the White House and Obama’s campaign headquarters in Chicago are moving to dump political and legal blame for the Libya mess on the State Department and, by definition, on Hillary Clinton herself.

My sources tell me that Clinton is working on a strategy that will allow Hillary to avoid having Benghazi become a stain on her political fortunes should she decide to run for president in 2016.

Bill Clinton has even gone so far as to seek legal advice about Hillary’s liability in terms of cables and memos that might be subpoenaed by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, which this week launched an investigation into the deaths of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans. The committee will also examine the apparent Obama administration cover-up that followed the Benghazi attack.

Finally, I’m told that Bill is playing with various doomsday scenarios, up to and including the idea that Hillary should consider resigning over the issue if the Obama team tries to use her as a scapegoat.”

We were the first ones to write about this bomb ready to boom. Now others like Tom McGuire are joining in. Add Mickey Kaus to the Borgia Italy speculations.

Yesterday we discussed “Nobody messes with Joe“. Now Obama better learn “Don’t Mess With Bill“.

———————————————————————

Bill Clinton must be asked “Is Hillary Clinton and the State Department to blame for the Benghazi Libya disaster as the White House claims?” But we’re getting ahead of ourselves.

We’ll explain the real damage that Joe Biden did to Barack Obama last night (hint: what will Obama have to now do on Tuesday?) sometime in the next few days. Right now what we are watching is “What Will Bill Clinton Do?

Last night Chuckles The Clown (a.k.a. Veep Joe Biden) appeared to throw the State Department and Hillary Clinton under the well worn tires of the Obama bus. Today, Jay Carney left no doubt that Barack Obama wants to blame Hillary Clinton for the Benghazi, Libya disaster.

Recently we discussed Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and the Libya Fibya and our discussion is even more on target today than when we first published it:

“That is not to say the State Department is in the clear. Still to be explained is the lack of appropriate security at the embassy in Benghazi. We want a full investigation of what happened.

We have no doubt that Barack Obama wanted to make it appear that everything was hunky dory in Libya in order to score political points for his reelection. What must be determined is whether Hillary Clinton and/or the State Department cooperated in this foolishness. We doubt it. But we want a full and complete investigation of all these questions.

In this war between the State Department and the Obama White House there is the Bill Clinton factor. Some have been critical of Bill Clinton for “helping” Barack Obama so ostentatiously. Bill Clinton agreed to “help” Obama’s reelection efforts well before September 11, 2013 so his help is not related to a “cover-up” of Benghazi-gate.

Never-the-less Bill Clinton has Obama in a very ugly death grip. Usually Barack Obama responds to crisis by “blaming the staff” and throwing someone “under the bus”. The person Barack Obama would love to bury after squashing under the bloody tires of the overused bus is Hillary Clinton.

But in this case, Obama cannot throw Hillary Clinton under the bus. That’s because Bill Clinton has made himself so essential to Obama’s reelection campaign Bill Clinton could retaliate and throw Obama under the bus and when the Clinton bus rolls….

We find ourselves in the giggly position that Hillary Clinton could throw Obama under the bus. She does not have to drive the bus herself. In Washington there is the wonderful world of “leaks”. Someone partial to Hillary and hostile to Obama could continue to leak information to Issa’s Government Oversight Committee which embarrasses Obama.

Hillary would come out of it all smelling like a rose because she gets to tell the truth about Obama while Bill Clinton gets to play the loyal party guy. The truth – that’s something Obama cannot afford as his campaign collapses.

The State Department undermined the Obama lies right from the beginning by telling committee investigators what really happened in Benghazi. We want a complete investigation and answers to what happened on the remaining open questions about security and requests for security.”

Hey, let’s rumble. The White House directly and unambiguously blames the State Department. Let’s hear from the State Department.

We think it is now extremely important for Hillary Clinton to testify before the House Oversight Committee and clear up the name of the State Department. Let’s rumble.

And as we stated at the beginning here Bill Clinton has to be asked this question: “Is Hillary Clinton and the State Department to blame for the Benghazi Libya disaster as the White House claims?

As many also realize the Benghazi disaster is growing and might be the final final nail in the Obama coffin. Obama wants someone to blame other than himself. But there are problems.

Jay Carney the Clown and Barack Obama the boob apparently have realized that Chuckles the Clown might get Bill and Hillary upset or angry so they are changing the ever changing story and persist with the Libya Fibya tales. After passing the burning coal to the State Department now there is a different spin from Clown Carney: Biden was obviously talking about the president, himself, and the WH, not the entire administration.

The White House story keeps on changing and we doubt very much if the clarifications have anything to do with concerns about the truth or attempts to determine what really happened in order to punish those responsible and prevent similar horrors in the future. No, the reason why this story keeps changing is because Carney the Clown and Chuckles the Clown, along with Barack the Boob are concerned about one Bill Clinton and the damage he might do if Hillary is left holding the bag.

The story, the Libya Fibya, continues to get more fibs told to ya. Consider the events starting from last night when it was stated by Biden: Hey, none of us knew that the Benghazi consulate wanted more security! Update: CBS News: Biden’s got some clean-up to do on Libya; Update: White House: No, really, we had no idea. Um, what’s going on?

“Just taking Biden at his word, we’d have to believe that (a) the State Department had no special concern over personnel in eastern Libya, where the weak central government can’t even deploy a police force, (b) the White House was unaware that al-Qaeda had expanded its operations in the region, and (c) no one remembered that the anniversary of 9/11 was approaching. That’s a shocking level of incompetence to confess on national TV. Small wonder that CNN’s tracking group considered this Joe Biden’s lowest point of the debate.”

Um, what’s going on? Who knew what and when? What did Barack Obama know and when did he know it? Did anyone know anything? Is up down? Is down up? What the blazes is going on?

Who knew what and when? It’s time to get Hillary Clinton to testify under oath before the House Oversight Committee. It’s time to ask Bill Clinton the question. More importantly Bill Clinton has to ask himself a question. Bill Clinton has to ask himself why he is supporting Barack Obama when Barack Obama is setting up Hillary Clinton to take the fall for Barack Obama’s incompetence if not treachery.

Hillary Clinton supporters want more than any Republican or conservative to, as the Professor says, “get rid of the fairy tale”. It would probably be better though if those that want to get rid of Barack Obama would stay focused on defeating Barack Obama and (1) stop posting idiot attacks on Hillary Clinton with gibberish such as “Karma’s a bitch, ain’t it, Madame Secretary?“, and (2) when you “borrow” a title from us, at least admit it (or is there a difference between “People Died, Obama Lied” and our earlier title “People Died, Obama Lied – The Spanish Language Edition“).

Barack Obama must be defeated. Barack Obama must be held to account. But Barack Obama opponents must stay focused on the target and bring everything back to Barack Obama. Barack Obama opponents must remember where the buck stops and target the buck stop chair, even if it is empty.

Will the Benghazi Debacle Cost Obama the Election?

The smoke surrounding the U.S. diplomatic facility in Benghazi has still not cleared, though it has been almost a month since our ambassador and three other Americans were murdered there. Yesterday’s hearing in Washington provided more heat than light, which is no surprise given that we are less than a month from a national election.

But the partisan coverage of the hearing could not disguise a couple of basic facts. First, it’s clear that the people on the ground in Libya weren’t getting the support that they wanted from Washington, and were unhappy about it. Second, the administration’s descriptions of what happened have never been very clear and have contributed to the confusion still surrounding this terrible tragedy.

I have a lot of sympathy for people in the State Department trying to handle security issues of this kind. There are hundreds of U.S. diplomatic facilities around the world, each with a very different security profile, and each facing different challenges. Partly because Congress has never adequately funded the State Department, management structures and resources are limited. Bad decisions inevitably get made.

Having traveled with the State Department in many countries where the security situation was not good, I have nothing but the highest respect for the people who have protected U.S. diplomats and others.

Libya looks like it was a perfect storm for the administration. A humanitarian intervention that never had a lot of support in the United States had not only failed to create a peaceful and stable democratic Libya; it was also increasingly clear that al-Qaeda and other terror groups were becoming much stronger in the chaos following the U.S.-led attack on Qaddafi. This political problem seems to have made it more difficult for the administration to face the full implications of the deteriorating security situation in Libya. And there was certainly no appetite for a fuller public discussion of the Libya mess in the weeks before an election.

It is not clear whether these considerations influenced efforts to keep U.S. security at a lower level in the country. That would genuinely be an explosive scandal. However, from the Obama administration’s point of view, the discussion of Libya these days is a bad thing. It seems clearer and clearer that the critics of the Libyan intervention had a better understanding of the risks and costs than the supporters.

And the resurgence of al-Qaeda in Libya also undermines the narrative the administration has tried to promote: that thanks to its intelligent and thoughtful policies terrorism is on its last legs.

To the extent that the administration hoped to turn American attention away from the Middle East, the events of 9/11/12 have frustrated that goal. This is unlikely to be a foreign policy election, but it looks as if the president’s advantage in foreign policy will continue to erode through election day. It remains to be seen whether that will have a material impact on this very close race.

thank you for all your research and updates re. the polls. you make my day! (btw, NH WILL go red november 6th) 🙂

  3. I agree, Hillary should testify under oath whatever the story. Some of the righties (and some in Fox) are being short-sighted going after Hillary on this instead of Obama. But Issa seems to have had something nice to say about Hillary’s State cooperating. Ryan invoked Hillary yesterday, I forget in what instance. Romney has on other occasions shown he understands Hillary could be their invisible ally.

  4. The Clinton-Obama rift

    http://dailycaller.com/2012/10/12/the-clinton-obama-rift/

After Bill Clinton delivered his electrifying speech at the Democratic National Convention, many political observers concluded that the Clintons and Obamas had called a truce to their long-running feud. Under their armistice, Clinton agreed to make speeches and appear in TV commercials for Obama, acting like a booster rocket for the Democratic ticket in the remaining weeks of the campaign.

It was a pretty picture, but as I have learned from several sources inside the Clinton camp, it turned out to be a case of wishful thinking.

In fact, since the convention, Clinton and Obama have had a serious falling-out over two issues: the president’s preparation and lamentable performance in his debate with Mitt Romney, and the question of who should be assigned blame — Obama or Secretary of State Hillary Clinton — for the intelligence and security screw-up in Benghazi, Libya.

This new rift, which the Clintons and Obamas have managed to keep secret from the media, has poisoned their relations to such an extent that it could conceivably have an impact on the outcome of the presidential election.
    * * *
The latest quarrel began when Clinton heard that Obama was behaving so cocky about his first debate against Mitt Romney that he wasn’t taking his debate prep seriously. Out of concern, Clinton had an aide call the White House and say that the former president would be more than happy to give the current president some pointers and advice on how to get the best of Romney.
Clinton waited several days for a response, but none was forthcoming. According to my sources, the former president was dumbfounded that Obama had ignored his offer, and his hurt feelings quickly boiled over into anger.

“Bill thought that he and Obama were on friendly terms after the convention,” one source told me. “He couldn’t believe that the White House didn’t even extend him the courtesy of a return phone call. He concluded that Obama’s arrogance knows no bounds.”
    **************************************
Despite their mutual lack of trust, Clinton and Obama have managed to keep their personal feelings under control — up to now. But in the wake of the fatal attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Clinton is concerned that the White House and Obama’s campaign headquarters in Chicago are moving to dump political and legal blame for the Libya mess on the State Department and, by definition, on Hillary Clinton herself.

    **********************************
Finally, I’m told that Bill is playing with various doomsday scenarios, up to and including the idea that Hillary should consider resigning over the issue if the Obama team tries to use her as a scapegoat. That seems unlikely to happen. But if relations between Obama’s White House and Hillary’s State Department rupture publicly over the growing Benghazi scandal, that could damage the Democratic ticket and dim Obama’s chances for re-election.

  5. I wonder if there was some expectation on Bill Clinton’s part that if he made nice with Obama overtly and supported him in the reelection efforts, that the Nobel Peace prize would come to him this year. This is just a wild guess/speculation on my part (having seen his pic in a teaser on Drudge in connection with that prize before it was announced). I am sure he wants it and as a go-getter he may have worked out a strategy in his own head and supporting Obama and the prominent convention speech were all part of that strategy.

  6. love it…..

Paul Ryan was 2 when Joe Biden was first sworn into office. And Joe Biden was 2 when he debated Paul Ryan last night.

  9. Ed Klein: As Benghazi blame nears Hillary, The Clinton’s grow furious with Obama –

With tensions between President Obama and the Clintons at a new high, former President Bill Clinton is moving fast to develop a contingency plan for how his wife, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, should react if Obama attempts to tie the Benghazi fiasco around her neck, according to author Ed Klein.

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller, Klein said sources close to the Clintons tell him that Bill Clinton has assembled an informal legal team to discuss how the Secretary of State should deal with the issue of being blamed for not preventing the Benghazi terrorist attack last month.

White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters during a press conference Friday that responsibility for the consulate in Libya fell on the State Department, not the White House.

If blame for the security failures falls to Hillary Clinton, Klein said, it’s possible that she would even consider resigning over the issue.

“Bill is working on a number of strategies about what Hillary ought to do. He’s even gone so far as to play with various doomsday scenarios including up to the idea that Hillary would consider resigning over the issue if the Obama team tries to use her as a scapegoat,” Klein told TheDC in an interview.

Klein — the best-selling author of the Amateur, a book on President Obama — elaborated on his reporting in an op-ed for The Daily Caller.

As of Friday afternoon, the White House, the State Department and the former president’s office did not return requests from The Daily Caller for comment on Klein’s reporting.

But as for the chance that Hillary Clinton would resign, Klein said in the interview: “At this moment, it appears unlikely that she’s going to do that. I mean that would be an extreme step for her to take.”

“Not only would it be hard to predict how it would play out as far as Hillary is concerned in the future, but it would certainly damage Obama’s chances for re-election if she resigned,” he said.

Klein said relations between the Clintons and President Obama have reached a new low, most recently with Obama ignoring Bill Clinton’s offer to help him and Vice President Joe Biden prepare for the debates with the Republican ticket.

“He had very clear ideas on how they should do that,” Klein told TheDC. “He never once got a response. And it absolutely sent him into orbit. He was furious that he would be treated this way, especially after what he did, in his view, at the Democratic convention in giving that nomination speech for Obama.”

Added Klein: “His fury turned to deep concern when the Benghazi business unfolded because he was deeply troubled by the appearance that the White House was going to throw Hillary under the bus, which in fact it appears it is doing.”

Klein said Bill Clinton’s informal legal team is made up of people he’s used in the past in legal situations. He asked them by phone to tell him how Hillary Clinton should handle this situation and what to do if she is subpoenaed to testify to the House Oversight Committee and provide them with memos regarding Benghazi.

The author said the situation is obviously complicated by Obama’s re-election, but also the possibility that Hillary would run in 2016.

“If she is left with this stain on her reputation, it could seriously damage her chances for election,” Klein told TheDC. “And this is what is really bothering Bill more than anything.”

I have a feeling Bill and Hillary are on the cusp of taking down Obama now, this is getting to be treachery. If they decide that Obama is going to ruin her for 2016, they will act.

  10. If Hillary resigned now and put the blame on Obama, it would finish him but it would probably also finish her as the Dems would never forgive her but maybe she realizes that this is the only option open to her. Maybe they deserve it.

  11. I have a feeling Bill and Hillary are on the cusp of taking down Obama now, this is getting to be treachery. If they decide that Obama is going to ruin her for 2016, they will act.
    ***************

This actually sounds selfish in the end. What happened to country first? If she or they have information, it shouldn’t take a subpoena to obtain it.

Is every decision weighed against running in 2016? Is everything a political game for everyone?

  12. Somehow the guy at the heart of this seems to me to be Patrick Kennedy. I think he let Hillary down. Like admin says Hillary should testify.

  13. GonzoTx, we are in Borgia Italy not the world we would all like. You might want a world in which public servants simply get up and tell the truth and are applauded for doing so. But that is not the world we are in. Is this all a game? No, it is not a game, but you have to game out your strategy.

Bill and Hillary Clinton told the truth about Barack Obama. Do you remember what happened? Do you really? Refresh your memory.

It is not enough to “tell the truth” in Borgia Italy if after you tell the truth the liar gets the upper hand. If Bill and Hillary Clinton had told the truth about Obama after he won the election they would have been labeled liars and malcontents forever shoved to the sidelines. So yes, games must be played for greater purposes.

Because of the “games” they are playing there is a chance to rescue this country. The “game” Bill has played has annoyed many if not all of us here, but the bare knuckle fact is that at least now Bill can take Obama down if he so chooses. If Bill does not choose to do so he either better have a very good reason or reality will take him down too.

No, this is not a political game, but the goal is power in order to put in place policy. If there has been a problem with playing games is that Bill and Hillary Clinton did not play the game with sufficient suspicion and ruthlessness in 2007/2008. We’re not playing checkers or “To tell the truth” in Borgia Italy. Chess does not describe the back and forth with sufficient complexity either. It’s politics, the eternal sea – ever changing, ever shifting.

  14. First rule of politics and don’t think otherwise, it applies to every politician “save your own ass first before all others, otherwise you cannot save others”

51.4 million Viewers Tune Into Biden and Ryan’s V.P. Debate

An estimated 51.4 million people tuned in to watch the sole debate between sitting Democratic V.P Joe Biden and Republican V.P. hopeful Congressman Paul Ryan on Thursday, October 11.

The debate, hosted by Centre College in Kentucky and moderated by ABC News correspondent Martha Raddatz, was carried across 12 networks.

While coverage varied by network, 10 networks aired live coverage from approximately 9:00PM to 10:30PM while Univision and Telemundo aired coverage on tape delay. The chart below highlights the sum of the average audience for these networks.

In 2008, the Vice Presidential debate between then Sen. Joe Biden and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin drew over 18 million more viewers than last night’s debate. The 2008 Biden-Palin debate notwithstanding, last night’s political tête-à-tête had the highest V.P. debate viewership since the George H.W. Bush-Geraldine Ferarro debate in 1984. That debate nabbed 56.7 million viewers.

  16. White House: Buck Stops With Hillary on Libya

by Ben Shapiro 12 Oct 2012,

Today, the White House finally revealed its policy on embassy security: keep President Obama out of the loop so he can claim plausible deniability and blame Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for any problems. In today’s White House press conference, a reporter asked press secretary Jay Carney about the situation in Libya. Carney responded:

The President wants to get to the bottom of what happened. Your own network interviewed the President and asked him about the situation in Benghazi, so I would refer to what the President said.

He is committed to finding out what happened. He is committed to making sure that those who killed four Americans are brought to justice, and he is committed to ensuring that actions are taken after the Accountability Review Board thoroughly assesses this matter, to make sure that what happened in Benghazi never happens again. …. He’s not blaming it on anything. This is under review, it is under investigation. And I would encourage everyone to assess that review when it’s completed.

Sounds great. Except that when a reporter asked if President Obama would be notified about security procedures at US embassies, Carney quickly demurred:

Q I want to follow on Ann’s question. She asked if the President was upset when he learned that he had not been told about these requests for extra security and that kind of thing. Has he now asked to be informed about such security requests? Or has he given any instructions that they should not be turned down, or that he or his designate should be informed?

CARNEY: It is absolutely the case the President is intensely focused on and committed to bringing to justice those who killed four Americans. He is focused on the investigations continuing so that they can follow the facts all the way to the end so we know what happened and why. He is committed to ensuring that we take the appropriate actions after the Accountability Review Board to ensure that what happened in Benghazi does not happen again. What is also the case is that requests from the hundreds of diplomatic facilities around the country for security personnel or other related matters are made to the State Department. They are not made to the White House. And that’s just a simple statement of fact.

In other words, Obama’s saying that the buck stops with Hillary Clinton. She’d best be prepared to feel the tire tread as she makes her way beneath the Obama campaign bus.

  17. “What is also the case is that requests from the hundreds of diplomatic facilities around the country for security personnel or other related matters are made to the State Department. They are not made to the White House. And that’s just a simple statement of fact.”

Why are our press people so so dumb. The followup question/comment to that should be that Libya was different and WH was very much involved with everything going on in Libya to the point of maybe even excluding the full decision making authority for State. Hillary would have involved the WH with everything related to Libya.

LIBYA WAS DIFFERENT (sorry, don’t mean to shout).

  18. Good point, Jen. Let the leaks begin and let us get this fucking election over. After November I don’t, absolutely don’t want to hear a whimper from Obama and his minions.

  19. The White House is throwing Hillary Clinton under the 2012 election bus.
    Neil Munro

Top officials have already claimed the nation’s intelligence agencies did not alert the White House to the growing danger facing the State Department’s facility in Benghazi, Libya, which was destroyed Sept. 11 by a jihadi attack on the 11th anniversary of the atrocities in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.

The claim was repeated Oct. 11 by Vice President Joe Biden during the vice presidential debate in Danville, Ky. “We weren’t told they wanted more security,” he announced.

Ben Rhodes, President Barack Obama’s deputy national security adviser for communications, extended the claim Oct. 11 by telling told Foreign Policy magazine that neither Biden nor President Barack Obama knew of the growing danger.

“Biden speaks only for himself and the president and neither of them knew about the requests at the time,” Rhodes said, according to Foreign policy.

“These kinds of issues are handling in the State Department by security officials,” White House spokesman Jay Carney said during Friday’s press briefing.

Security matters “are decided at the State Department,” he said, amid tough questioning from Fox News Channel’s Ed Henry.

The White House’s statements leaves Hillary Clinton on the hook, because she runs the Department of State.

The widening breach between Clinton and the team of Obama and Biden comes as the president is being outpolled by Gov. Mitt Romney.
    ********************************************
Obama wanted strong embassy security, Carney claimed.

“The president sets his priorities in his budget,” he said. That focus on the budget downplays Obama’s role in setting U.S. foreign policy strategy, which is then implemented by the the secretary of state.

  20. Vice President Joe Biden claimed that the administration wasn’t aware of requests for more security in Libya before the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S. mission in Benghazi during Thursday night’s debate, contradicting two State Department officials and the former head of diplomatic security in Libya.

In fact, two security officials who worked for the State Department in Libya at the time testified Thursday that they repeatedly requested more security and two State Department officials admitted they had denied those requests.

“All of us at post were in sync that we wanted these resources,” the top regional security officer in Libya over the summer, Eric Nordstrom, testified. “In those conversations, I was specifically told [by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Charlene Lamb] ‘You cannot request an SST extension.’ I determined I was told that because there would be too much political cost. We went ahead and requested it anyway.”

  21. We’ve always liked Lindsay Lohan so we are happy she is off the Hopium:

    http://times247.com/articles/lindsay-lohan-leaves-obama-for-romney

Four years ago, Lindsay Lohan referred to Obama’s presidential victory as “amazing,” but cut to 2012, and it seems the “Mean Girls” star has had a serious change of heart.

“I think unemployment is very important for now, so as of now I think [my vote] is Mitt Romney,” Lohan told reporters, including FOX411’s Pop Tarts, at the Mr. Pink Ginseng Drink Launch Party Los Angeles on Thursday night. …

Last month, the troubled actress went as far as to tweet the president requesting he “cut taxes for those who need it: middle-class families, small businesses” as well as “those that are listed on Forbes as ‘millionaires’.”

  22. I think that the Benghazi incident should rightfully be blamed on Hillary. She is responsible for keeping the ambassadors safe. The only way that she can get out of this is if the request was made and she wanted to provide more security and the Obama White House overruled her. Anything short than this will not be enough to exculpate her. Until she can provide evidence that she wanted to provide more security and the White Hourse overruled it, the default position is to believe that this incident is her fault. There is no way of getting around this.

I was a Hillary fan and still am but I am not willing to suspend my rational judgment just to acquit her of her responsibility.

  23. so much for Joe and the Clinton’s lovefest…

if O or B even put their toe in the water to blame hillary…

then Bill, you better break down the dam and let the ‘leaks’ gush out…everything…and do it before the election…not after

this is the metaphorical line in the sand…after all the clintons have done for this A–…if O or B screw with Hillary, Bill MUST take them down…

(it makes me crazy to think of Bill just last week jumping all over the place in Las Vegas to campaign for O…Bill…do not let Hillary or us down – everything O touches turns to dust

…and no cutting and deals until after the election…she has been through enough..
…Bill must take O down otherwise it will be unforgiveable

how in the hell can Bill and Hill be proud of that performance Biden put in last night…you could not even call that ‘lowering the dialogue’…it was annihilating any dialogue or discourse…it was shameful…the O dim party cannot sink any lower)

  24. S, I agree.. leak the fucking whatever. This has been a 4 year saga for all of us and I can’ wait for this election to get over.

  25. You know Ann Althouse in a post last week had a couple lines to the effect that Hillary would have been a better president and where was the outrage. I ask here and everywhere where is that outrage? I was talking to a friend today and she does not know my political history — I told her if Obama had been the VP and Hillary was the president we would be looking at 12 more years now and not trying to save Obama’s sorry ass. She agreed but she will vote for Obama as she did in 2008.

  26. we do not know that, rickya…now we hear that O has not even been going to the majority of his security briefings…the man is so distracted…on the very day they had the memorial for the four dead victims, O flew off to a fundraiser/rally in Las Vegas…then on to letterman, then to a party with Beyonce and JayZ

what kind of a president does that? no respect…

O is like a figurehead with no responsibility and he justs bluffs his way through with his teleprompter….

who the hell is watching out for the security of our country…O is the CiC…we need to find out who is protecting this country…not DoJ, O is pre-occupied…Biden appears a little crazy…and up to now the media has been doing its best to not report this story…if the repubs did not control the House…this story would already be buried…

  27. Rickya, we want an open immediate investigation. As we have repeatedly written we think Hillary will come out smelling like a rose and Obama will come out smelling like what he is. It’s not just history that informs us. We quoted HotAir in today’s article:

    http://hotair.com/archives/2012/10/12/biden-hey-none-of-us-knew-that-the-benghazi-consulate-wanted-more-security/

Logically you would have to believe that Hillary did not care about her people in Benghazi and deliberately prevented appropriate security even though she was the senator from New York during 9/11, the original 9/11.

Anyone who wants to believe Hillary would purposefully allow her people in Benghazi to be in danger in order to help Barack Obama’s election even if it would destroy her if anything happened needs some logic readjustment.

As we wrote, we want an investigation as public, big, and immediate as possible. We think Hillary will come out smelling like a rose. But point taken, Hillary needs to explain fully and completely and immediately what happened. The only reason why security was lax in Benghazi was for Obama to look good – or can anyone think of a different explanation? Was it simply total incompetence? Was that why Obama flew to Las Vegas after the killing started in Libya? We want a timeline, cables, all communications, everything out under oath. Let the chips fall where they will.

  28. Admin. I am not naive, but tired of all the game playing while Rome burns.

I dare say Hillary’s support of Big Bird in 2008 allowed millions to vote for him.

I dare say her subsequent SOS role and BC’s over enthusiastic support of the fraud in 2012 has allowed him to possibly be re elected.

I am disgusted he still has a good possibility to win. Then what? What will be left of this country?

  29. btw…O is going on Jon Stewart again and MO is going on The Talk…O just came back from a three day weekend partying at the Nokia in Hollywood…you know, the venue where they do the Oscars from…and then private parties with George Clooney and other celeb pals…

Jimmie Kimmel even made a joke that O was talking with his ‘Agents’ in LA in case things didn’t work out…

these people are not paying attention…and you wonder why everything is falling apart…they do not give a damn…they are not seriously minded, focused people…

    all a big game…a big laugh…and O and B just keep grinning…

    ——————–

Exactly.. This is Libya we are talking about, not Paris, though Paris was well protected. Why isn’t anybody saying this. This whole thing was not Hillary’s alone.. Obama was right in there with Rice and that woman Jarrett.

  31. I have said it before (to friends) and will say it again: enemies cannot be trusted! I was furious when Hillary campaigned for empty chair in 08, more furious when she accepted the SOS position and extremely furious with Bill at the Convention and all the other events he has done for our clowns in the WH. If the clowns now blame her, it is entirely the Clinton’s fault for whatever reason they had to support him in the first place. It is unforgivable, at least for me, to help promote this dangerous group of thugs for another four years. You might say: it’s politics but morally it’s wrong. Knowingly promoting something which they know would harm our country even more through another four years, is really unforgivable.

  32. if Hillary gets thrown under the bus, does anyone here not think that the O camp and all his insiders and all the obots will pounce against Hillary…

after all she and Bill have done for O, O and his gang won’t think twice about letting Hill fall hard…i can just hear them all coming out of the woodwork to start slaming her…just like during the primaries…

  33. So was Benghazi an embassy or a CIA operation? Embassies have intelligence operatives but this might have been a C.I.A. operation. We need a full immediate investigation:

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/10/12/us-usa-libya-intelligence-idUSBRE89B1EU20121012?feedType=RSS&feedName=worldNews&rpc=22

(Reuters) – U.S. intelligence efforts in Libya have suffered a significant setback due to the abandonment and exposure of a facility in Benghazi, Libya identified by a newspaper as a “CIA base” following a congressional hearing this week, according to U.S. government sources. [snip]

The post had been a base for, among other things, collecting information on the proliferation of weaponry looted from Libyan government arsenals, including surface-to-air missiles, the sources said. Its security features, including some fortifications, sensors and cameras, were more advanced than those at rented villa where Stevens died, they said.

The sources said intelligence agencies will find other ways to collect information in Libya in the aftermath of last year’s toppling of long-time leader Muammar Gaddafi.

“Benghazi played a critical role in the emergence of the new Libya and will continue to do so. It makes sense that we would return there to continue to build relationships,” one U.S. official said.

Public discussion of the top-secret location began with a contentious Wednesday hearing of the House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which was investigating whether security lapses put Americans at risk.

The State Department displayed a satellite photograph showing two locations – the rented villa that served as a special diplomatic mission and the compound that officials had cryptically described as an “annex” or “safe house” for diplomatic personnel.

Both compounds were attacked by militants believed to be tied to al Qaeda. After the diplomatic complex was overrun, U.S. and Libyan personnel rushed by car to the second site, where they fought off two more waves of assaults, officials said. [snip]

When the satellite photo was displayed, a senior committee Republican, Representative Jason Chaffetz, complained that the discussion was drifting into “classified issues that deal with sources and methods,” and the photo was removed from public display. No one at the hearing used the term “CIA base” to describe the facility.

    ‘BONEHEADED QUESTIONING’

The next morning, Dana Milbank, a Washington Post columnist, wrote that the committee’s “boneheaded questioning” of State Department witnesses left little doubt that the compound in the pictures was a “CIA base.”

The Center for American Progress, a Washington think tank with ties to the Obama White House, followed up with a blog post accusing Republicans of revealing the “Location Of Secret CIA Base.

On Friday, Representative Dutch Ruppersberger, top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, accused Republicans of mishandling secret information.

Spokespeople for the State Department and White House had no comment. The CIA also had no comment.

Oversight committee spokesman Frederick Hill said committee Democrats made matters worse by asking questions about the satellite photos. “Even after Republicans objected, Democrats continued to ask questions that led State officials to put even more sensitive information about who worked there into the public realm,” Hill said.

  38. Admin: yes, Bill has leverage over Obama–now. But after the election, it has goes down to zero. Conclusion: if he is going to take down The Fraud, then he must realize, as I am sure he does, that the clock is ticking. The right leak, strategically timed would cause Obama to fall off the wall, and all the Obots and big media whores could not put Humpty Dumpty together again. The other interesting part of this is Biden has crossed over to the dark side in this internal battle. It was a good thing that Hillary let Rice walk the plank here, and a strategy needs to be engineered to ensure that Obama is next. The survival of the country and the world depend on it.

  39. I think that the Benghazi incident should rightfully be blamed on Hillary. She is responsible for keeping the ambassadors safe. The only way that she can get out of this is if the request was made and she wanted to provide more security and the Obama White House overruled her. ————————
If Hillary meets with Obama for breakfast every Thursday, and if she knew about this need for security, then it is quite likely that she told Obama about this.

If Hillary told Obama of the need for security, then it is quite likely that he spoke to Leaker in chief Tom O’Donilon about it.

If Obama told Donolin, then it is quite likely that he told Obama to do nothing that will affect your re-election.

Since this is a foreign policy matter, it is doubtful that Jarrett made the decision here.

  40. If the consulate in Benghazi really was a CIA outpost, then that explains a lot, especially the secrecy and all the conflicting stories. It should also let Hillary and the State Department off the hook– they can’t possibly be held responsible for the security of CIA agents.

  41. You never really know what these CIA spooks are doing–in Bengazi or elswhere. There is even evidence that they played a role in the election of Obama, through a group controlled by Zieb Brezesnki, who was the architect of the overthrow of the old Soviet Union, and helped release the scourge of Osama and Islam terrorism upon the world. He and Dr. Strangelove have a great deal–too much in fact in common. Soros was tied in to this group as well, while he sat on the National Security Counsel with Dr. Z. He later told a journalist the Old Soviet Empire is now the Soros Empire. If someone asked me whether the CIA is on the side of the American People, I would have to say in some instances, definitely not.

  42. From the article:
“In a little over three minutes, CNBC’s Gary ‘Golden Gloves’ Kaminsky not only pointed out the dismal reality of our political class but explained, in his out loud voice – which we assumed was typically suppressed for career-limiting reasons – exactly what he thinks of Joe Biden and what he would have done had be been sat next to him on that table. In saying what we suspect a lot of readers may have felt, Kaminsky exposes the underbelly; as like many of Wall Street who are ‘compelled’ to give politicians money (Biden has raised the great majority of his funds from financial services firms) hearing the hypocritical “wall-street-vs-main-street” double-talk and ‘nasty’ laughing and smirking last night made the ex-PM angry. Impressed at Ryan’s calm, Kaminsky sums it all up, about Biden: “I would have punched the guy in the face!” – the truth.”

  43. If the consulate in Benghazi really was a CIA outpost, then that explains a lot, especially the secrecy and all the conflicting stories. It should also let Hillary and the State Department off the hook– they can’t possibly be held responsible for the security of CIA agents.
    ———————————-
If the requests for additional security came through the State Department then it was incumbent upon Hillary to know that and pass that information along to Obama. I assume that she did so, but I am less sure that she has proof, unless she covered herself via email or memo to Obama. The critical question is who denied the request, was it their own decision, or were they directed to do so by someone at the political level. The Committee must focus on that and find a John Dean.

As far as the ensuing cover-up, it is unfortunate that Hillary condemmed the video, and drew an implicit if not explicit correlation between the video and the attacks. People could easily infer from that that she too claimed that the video caused the attack, which we now know it did not. But if you parse her words, she stopped short of that. I am sure she was asked/ordered by the White House to go on television and lie that the video was the cause in fact, and that this was a spontaneous mob action and not a terrorist attack. I am equally sure that she refused, so Rice, who had less power than Hillary was assigned the task and gained the indelible repuation of liar, and the emnity of the American People. More than she ever bargained for.

  44. This is an OUTSTANDING analysis of the state of the race

    Rick Wilson
    The Edge of Panic
Rick Wilson · 11 hours ago

Last night’s performance by Biden – capering, giggling, near-maniacal opera buffa – was targeted in one place: a dispirited, demoralized Democratic base on the edge of panic.

Paul Ryan was businesslike, steady, and on-point. He hit solid doubles all night, and that’s all he needed to do. If he’d been as amped and manic as Biden, it would have been a political and imaging disaster.

Biden aimed to throw the Obama base a lifeline. He fed the Kos Kidz desperate need to see some fight, but at the cost of his remaining (and mostly notional) dignity. If you want a gibbering, snorting, mumbling clown with a rictus-grin locked on his mug a heartbeat away from controlling America’s nuclear arsenal, Joe Biden’s your guy.

Ryan aimed to meet the standard of gravitas and presence, to demonstrate to the fabled female/suburban/swing/moderate voters that he’s not a scary granny-killing Terminator sent from the future to throw seniors into the snowbank. He had to demonstrate steadiness, stature and knowledge. Done and done.

The conventional wisdom this morning is that the debate was a tie. That conventional wisdom is (as is so often the case) dead wrong. Biden played to his base, trying to dig Obama out of the hole he’s been trapped in since last week’s debate trainwreck. Ryan played to the center, to the swing and to the late-engagers. The post-hoc coverage won’t factor into their decisions: the pictures and Biden’s mugging, drunk-uncle affect will. (Also, Biden opened several new, Costco-scale cans of worms for the Administration on the Libya scandal.)

In short, Biden did nothing to reset the race, and the edge of panic is still there in the Obama campaign.

When edifices – particularly political edifices built around the myth and personality of one man – collapse, they collapse suddenly. The center does not hold. The man dragged from the spider hole isn’t a dictator, he’s a prisoner. The Master of the Universe hedge fund manager who’s really just a Ponzi schemer gets booked at Rikers like the rest of ’em. The spell cast by power, once broken, is hard to restore.

(And no, I’m not comparing Obama to infamous war criminals. I’m examining the way people view organizations centered on a leader, not on an idea, and why they’re ultimately fragile.)

In the case of the Obama Personality Cult, we believed the Maximum Leader was more brilliant, more charismatic and more skillful than our own candidate. Sure, he was wrong on the issues, a disaster from start to finish, but we still felt a sense of intimidation. That changed last week, as I outlined here.

In the 2012 election, as long as Obama was inevitable, he was inevitable. Beyond the pundits, there was the emerging belief that the macro polling models of guys like Nate Silver could not be wrong. The basic message was, “Obama’s certainty of reelection is so large entirely new domains of mathematics are required to state it properly.”

The arguments for Romney’s election were always framed as, “Well, IF he wins Florida and IF he wins Virginia and IF Hillary is an Al Qaida sleeper agent and IF Biden is caught in a Delaware hotel room with a Guatemalan pan flute band and a non-consenting farm animal…then maybe there’s a fraction of a chance.”

The political media declared Mitt Romney dead for thirty long days between the end of the convention and the debate. But somewhere in those thirty days, Mitt Romney was born again. Hard.

You can see the fear in the Obama campaign now, as they careen from message to message, flailing, desperate for something – anything – to stick.

You can see their gyros tumbling as they slew from Big Bird to abortion to “Mitt Romney is a lying liar liarpants McLiar” to the walking disaster that is Stephanie Cutter every time she opens her mouth to the remarkable, bizarre interview the Three Divas (Axelrod, Plouffe and Messina, obviously) gave Mark Halperin this week. Their campaign is out of control, and they know it.

They know how much they lost after the last debate. They know how many millions of television advertising dollars were flushed down the drain as Obama broke down in the last debate and as Mitt Romney introduced himself to the country. They know how, after the debate, Romney surged to a lead or a tie in the swing states. They know that there are a handful of states now that were solidly in Obama’s camp that are wavering, teetering and suddenly uncertain.

Ohio, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and Michigan have moved in the RCP averages from “Leans Obama” to “Toss-up”… today’s polls are about to move a number of other states into the “Lean Romney” column. Florida will likely move there in the coming days. It’s not just the swing states, and they know it.

The swing states matter, but when any of the states of Obama’s “Blue Wall” flips in the polls to “Lean Romney,” the cascade effect will be psychologically devastating. For months, there were two underlying predicates for an Obama victory: first, that Obama was inevitable, and second, that Mitt Romney’s path to 270 electoral votes was narrow and highly constrained.

Today, it’s Obama’s path that seems to be narrowing.

    Their panic tastes deliciou

  45. “OTurd surrogate Rep. Donna Edwards told CNN today,
“Voters may not care about Benghazi, but they care about Bin Laden.””
    ————————-
    It is exactly the opposite.

The killing of Obama was accomplished by Navy Seals.

The disaster at Benghazi was caused by Obama.

And that is what voters know, Ms. Whistling Past The Graveyard.

If you watch Hillary’s video, she is only talking about the video and how bad it is and not connecting it with Libya.
    ————————–
But when she says this after the attacks and the administration she is a part of is blaming the attacks on the video rather than terrorism, it creates the impression that she is perpetrating the same myth. The timing and context of this comment are the problem, even though if you parse the words, you reach a different conclusion. The real problem is the truth is not what actually happened, but what people come to believe. That is the first law of politics.

  51. http://datechguyblog.com/2012/10/12/a-ray-of-hope-in-arabia/

    a very good piece.

“My previous post on Afghanistan was rather depressing but in case you missed it earlier this week I saw one of the most hopeful signs from the Arab world that I’ve seen in year in the form of this article in the Arab news.

The common thing among all what I saw is that the destruction and the atrocities are not done by an outside enemy. The starvation, the killings and the destruction in these Arab countries are done by the same hands that are supposed to protect and build the unity of these countries and safeguard the people of these countries. So, the question now is that who is the real enemy of the Arab world?

These are incredible words and even more incredible words follow

The Arab world wasted hundreds of billions of dollars and lost tens of thousands of innocent lives fighting Israel, which they considered is their sworn enemy, an enemy whose existence they never recognized. The Arab world has many enemies and Israel should have been at the bottom of the list. The real enemies of the Arab world are corruption, lack of good education, lack of good health care, lack of freedom, lack of respect for the human lives and finally, the Arab world had many dictators who used the Arab-Israeli conflict to suppress their own people.
These dictators’ atrocities against their own people are far worse than all the full-scale Arab-Israeli wars.

This is something I’ve long waited to see come out of an Arab writer in an Arab paper, the ending is earth shaking:

The Arab Spring showed the world that the Palestinians are happier and in better situation than their Arab brothers who fought to liberate them from the Israelis. Now, it is time to stop the hatred and wars and start to create better living conditions for the future Arab generations.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there is absolutely no reason why the Arab world shouldn’t exceed Israel by every possible measure because they have the single most valuable resource in the world in incredible quantities but totally undeveloped. Their PEOPLE!

But for that to happen thinkers and writers like Abdulateef Al-Mulhim need to be embraced.

If the Arab world spends a few decades concentrating solely on the advancement of their own population they will move forward at such a pace, in education, in science, in standard of living that generations unborn will wonder how the were ever kept back from their potential.”

  52. The final Obama ‘fuck you’ to the Clintons…Though the only reason I can suss as to why Obama’s team wouldn’t dance around this until after the election is because they know they’re in deep trouble now and no longer care about Bubba’s usefulness. Perhaps they think the Clintons are boxed in. Bill can’t throw the campaign, see Romney win, and expect donors to pony up in 3 years. Nor can Hillary quit now and expect anything but derision from current Democratic players. However, when have the Clintons ever truly been boxed in? Hillary gets chucked overboard now…a torrent of memos come out..from somewhere…

Bill may want the White House back in 4 years. Hillary is out to preserve her legacy. I’m not convinced she wants to be President. I am convinced she doesn’t intend to roll for the Chicago Punk. Let’s not underestimate the gravity here. A murdered ambassador won’t go away. It becomes part of her narrative forever.

The Klein piece strikes me as true-ish because Biden cued it up last night, which means Axelrod and Jarrett were in the room at some point. Blaming Hillary stinks of Jarrett and her Chicago Mafia. They’ve already happily vivisected Susan Rice by making her so foolish her next job will be at Chuck-E-Cheese. Attempting to ruin Hillary Clinton is simply another amoral option as the scandal deepens. Biden goes along because he’s deluded enough to think he’ll become the President in 2017. Which is laughable.

Jarrett Rule #1: Obama’s never responsible for anything and always gets credit when it’s not due. So Hillary takes the fall here. It makes sense in their world. But…underestimate the Clintons at your peril. They’ve survived and thrived in the end every single time.

  53. I have a feeling Bill and Hillary are on the cusp of taking down Obama now, this is getting to be treachery. If they decide that Obama is going to ruin her for 2016, they will act.
    ———————-
It is the only answer here that I can see. If they wait until after the election they will be at his mercy–both of them. The strategically timed leak of hard proof that Obama and/or his inner circle knew, failed to act, and then covered up is what is indicated. If there can be wikileaks, then why not this and why not now. The press is ravenous over this issue. Feed fucking Obama to those piranahs, and let them tear him to pieces limb by limb.

  54. I flipped to Letterman and he had one “joke” about Ryan pics by AP and that was it. Nothing about the debate itself.

That is a really bad sign for the Dems.

  55. I am resrving my “judgement” on Hillary until we know for sure if this was an embassy or a CIA “front.”

  56. “During the Vice Presidential debate on Thursday night, Joe Biden claimed, incorrectly, that Syria is five times larger than Libya.

Biden made the claim during one of the many exchanges on foreign policy, in which Biden was trying to paint the Romney/Ryan ticket as lacking in foreign policy gravitas.

In his haste, Biden said Syria was “geographically” five times larger than Libya, explaining the reason the Obama administration had not intervened directly there. His full statement was that Syria “is a different country, it is five times as large geographically, it has one fifth the population.”

During his delivery he caught himself and tried to salvage the situation by adding, “that is Libya.” But the statement was disconnected and didn’t do anything to clear up his claims about Syria. (It was reminiscent of another Biden outburst, when he blurted out “that’s in the east” while Rep. Paul Ryan was talking about fighting seasons in Afghanistan.)

Moreover, Syria is approximately 71,500 sq. miles and Libya is is almost 680,000. That’s not simply a “five times as large” difference. That’s almost ten times, as the map above show.”

I thought he was wrong on that.

  57. Here is an article by Larry Johnson. I think it is pretty good, other than the fact that he has got Hillary charged, tried and convicted, and when the truth comes out that will shown to be factually wrong. Larry is a superb analyst but by no means an infallible one. He can be too quick to jump to conclusions, such as when he imagined that the lone mass murderer in Sweden was part of the vast cabal of angry white men, a point I took issue with when I was commenting on his blog because there was no objective evidence to support it. Turned out he was wrong. You have to wait for the facts to come out here. For the reasons quoted by Admin at 6:37 it is highly unlikely that Hillary is at fault. The friend I told you about above who has deep insights into politics scoffs at this possibilty, even though she is no longer a Hillary supporter. It is far more likely in my opinion that Hillary told Obama and he put politics before national security.

The more interesting question is this: if Hillary did leave the party, would it make any difference whatsoever in the level of support Obama enjoys within they party. Conventional wisdom (an oxymoron) says yes–it would divide the party. But think about it. What we are dealing with in that party today is sheep. And big media has been waiting for over a decade to put an end to the Clintons. I do not think it would make a difference. They have their heads so far up their collective asses, that they have no inkling of leadership and zero regard for the future of this country. I firmly believe they would stick with Obama, including those former Hillary supporters. Sheep. Put differently, how in gods green earth can these people look at the devastation which these Chicago thugs have visited on this country these past four years, and support his candidacy for the next four. That is what sheep do. Not rational human beings.

    Here is Larry’s analysis.
    ————————-
Why Libya is an Obama Debacle
By Larry Johnson on October 12, 2012 at 11:36 PM in Current Affairs
The disaster in Libya is more than a failure of Secretary of State Clinton and her subordinates to give our mission in Libya the security assets they requested. It is more than the deliberate lie of the Obama White House to circulate the specious claim that a flash mob inspired by some stupid video unexpectedly attacked the US Consulate in Benghazi. The bigger problem is that the attack in Libya has ripped off the veil hiding the inept, confused Middle East policy of Barack Obama.

Obama lacks a strategic vision. Sharing in this failure of vision is Hillary Clinton. Upon entering office, Obama was quite content to continue the whack-a-terrorist policy of George W. Bush. Relying on CIA and US military Special Ops forces, Obama continued and expanded the drone program to hit and eliminate terrorists.

But killing and capturing terrorists does not end the terrorist threat. Obama has learned this lesson the hard way. He was so busy doing a victory dance touting the killing of Bin Laden that he failed to look at the broader picture–What do we do to staunch the tide of Radical Sunni Salafists. It is on this point where the Obama policy goes off the rails.

The unraveling of the Obama policy started with his Administration’s passionate embrace of the Arab spring.

Modern Democrats are a very naive lot. Obama and his team, aided by Hillary, bought into the nonsense that a “people’s revolt” in Egypt would spark a flowering of democracy throughout the region. Instead, the radical Islamists, acting with the same shrewdness that Communists did almost a century ago, realized they could easily coopt and isolate those pressing for a more Western-styled type of society that tolerates dissent and freedom of religion.

I do not blame Obama for the mess he inherited in Iraq. That’s on Bush and Cheney. Their decision to depose Saddam Hussein, who had provided the main containment of Iran for more than 20 years, gave Iran an opening to expand its power and influence throughout the region, installed a pro-Iranian regime in Iraq, and unleashed a civil war between Sunnis and Shias that has now spread to Syria.

Here is where Obama made a fateful error. I am certain, based on what I am seeing on the ground in Syria, that Obama signed a finding authorizing the CIA to recruit foreign fighters and send them to Syria to fight. And guess where the CIA was recruiting those fighters? LIBYA.

Here is the insanity. We lost more than 4000 of our troops in Iraq battling, for the most part, Sunni radicals. So who do we turn to for manpower in Syria (and perhaps Iran)? Sunni radicals who share the values and goals of Al Qaeda. This is not only insane, it is goddamned dangerous.

We now face a real prospect of a war between Syria and Turkey. If that breaks out then NATO, which includes us, is obligated to go in fighting on the side of Turkey. One little, tiny problem. Syria is backed by Russia, China and Iran. You think that kind of war will make the world a safer place to live?

Add to this the fact that Russia, Iran and Iran’s proxy, Iraq, control a significant portion of the world’s oil. Any of you Obama cheerleaders want to argue that disrupting major sources of the world’s oil lifeline will do wonders for the economy? If you think that $5 dollar gas in California is bad, just wait until you are paying $8 a gallon or more. Moreover, the United States debt, which already is topping $16 trillion, will further soar as a result of having to wade into a major conflict.

What does Obama have to show for his policy in the Middle East? The spread of Islamic-based governments that promote the very Sunni extremists who rallied to the side of Osama Bin Laden.

Removing Obama does not magically restore order to the Middle East. A President Romney would be faced immediately with the need to reexamine the misguided policy of Obama authorizing the CIA to arm and equip jihadists. One thing is clear to me–we have not learned a damn thing from the last 40 years. We are making the same mistakes, only this time it threatens the very security of the world.

  58. Years ago, Tom Sowell wrote a book called The Vision of the Annointed. It is a proctological examination of the institutional left in this country who hate America and all it stands for. I will not bore you with the thesis again, I have laid it out for you here before. But one of his observations about the upper crust of the Democratic Party rings particularly true namely: they are people who cannot understand why fish do not live on mountain tops and eagles do not decorate the ocean bottom. In the perfect world they envision all this and more would be possible. And this leads to political correctness, which leads to censorship, which leads to re-education camps which eradicate the last vestiges of free will. Only the annointed are allowed to think and when they benighted schemes run amiss, other people are blamed and other people suffer.

  59. Dems defending OTurd. What I find so disgusting, these were the same a-holes who correctly and loudly made the Plame outing a story, and no one died there! It was absolutely wrong to out her, and as Bush was the CiC, the buck stopped there.

and now these a$$holes defend OTurd, 4 americans murdered, including a US ambassador, and these jerks don’t give a damn, because its their Messiah in that seat now. Its not their manchild’s fault, nothing is ever his damn fault!

So I see how it is, if its a dem in power, nothing is their fault, a repub in power, everything is their fault.

These dem people are disgusting. I honestly can never call myself a democrat anymore ever.

  60. If you haven’t seen the movie 2016..you need to check it out.

TERRY ANDERSON, A BLACK LOS ANGELES TALK RADIO HOST, WENT DOWN A LIST OF THINGS OBAMA HAS SAID THAT AREN’T EXACTLY CORRECT.

IN FACT HE HAS LIED SO MUCH, HE CAN’T REMEMBER THE TRUTH.

1.) Selma March Got Me Born – NOT EXACTLY, your parents felt safe enough to have you in 1961 –

Selma had no effect on your birth, as Selma was in 1965.
(Google ‘Obama Selma ‘ for his full March 4, 2007 speech and articles a bout
    its various untruths.) ! !

2.) Father Was A Goat Herder – NOT EXACTLY, he was a privileged, well
educated youth, who went on to work with the Kenyan Government.

3.) Father Was A Proud Freedom Fighter – NOT EXACTLY, he was part of one of

the most corrupt and violent governments Kenya has ever had.

4.) My Family Has Strong Ties To African Freedom – NOT EXACTLY; your cousin
Raila Odinga has created mass violence in attempting to overturn a
legitimate election in 2007, in Kenya . It is the first widespread violence
in decades. The current government is pro-American but Odinga wants to
overthrow it and establish Muslim Sharia law. Your half-brother, Abongo Oba
ma, is Odinga’s follower. You interrupted your New Hampshire campaigning to
speak to Odinga on the phone. Check out the following link for verification
    of that….and for more.

Obama’s cousin Odinga in Kenya ran for president and tried to get Sharia
Muslim law in place there. When Odinga lost the elections, his followers
have burned Christians’ homes and then burned men, women and children alive in

a Christian church where they took shelter… Obama SUPPORTED his cousin before

the election process here started. Google Obama and Odinga and see
what you get. No one wants to know the truth.

5.) My Grandmother Has Always Been A Christian – NOT EXACTLY, she does her

daily Salat prayers at 5am according to her own interviews. Not to mention,
Christianity wouldn’t allow her to have been one of 14 wives to1 man.

6.) My Name is African Swahili – NOT EXACTLY, your name is Arabic and
‘Baraka’ (from which Barack came) means ‘blessed’ in that language. Hussein
is also Arabic and so is Obama.

Barack Hussein Obama is not half black. He is the first Arab-American President, not

the first black President. Barack Hussein Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother’s

side and 43.75% Arabic and 6.25% African Negro from his father’s side.
While Barack Hussein Obama’s father was from Kenya , his father’s family was mainly

Arabs.. Barack Hussein Obama’s father was only 12.5% African Negro and 87.5% Arab

(his father’s birth certificate even states he’s Arab, not African Negro). Go to:

7.) I Never Practiced Islam – NOT EXACTLY, you practiced it daily at school,
where you were registered as a Muslim and kept that faith for 31 years,
until your wife made you change, so you could run for office.

4-3-08 Article 'Obama was 'quite religious in Islam''

8.) My School In Indonesia Was Christian – NOT EXACTLY, you were registered as Muslim

there and got in trouble in Koranic Studies for making faces (check your own book).

February 28, 2008. Kristoff from the New York Times: Mr. Obama
recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with
a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated
(it’ll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to
prayer as ‘one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.’ This is just one
example of what Pamela is talking about when she says ‘Obama’s narrative is
being altered, enhanced and manipulated to whitewash troubling facts.’

9.) I Was Fluent In Indonesian – NOT EXACTLY, not one teacher says you could

    speak the language.

10.) Because I Lived In Indonesia , I Have More Foreign Experience – NOT
EXACTLY, you were there from the ages of 6 to 10, and couldn’t even speak
the language. What did you learn except how to study the Koran and watch
    cartoons?

11.) I Am Stronger On Foreign Affairs – NOT EXACTLY, except for Africa
(surprise) and the Middle East (bigger surprise); you have never been
anywhere else on the planet and thus have NO experience with our closest
    allies.

12.) I Blame My Early Drug Use On Ethnic Confusion – NOT EXACTLY, you were quite

content in high school to be Barry Obama, no mention of Kenya and no mention of

struggle to identify – your classmates said you were just fine

find the article you mention in your book. It doesn’t, and never did, exist.

14.) A Life Magazine Article Changed My Outlook On Life – NOT EXACTLY, Life has

yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn’t, and never did, exist.

15.) I Won’t Run On A National Ticket In ’08 – NOT EXACTLY, despite saying, live on

TV, which you would not have enough experience by then, and you are all about

    having experience first.

16.) Voting ‘Present’ is Common In Illinois Senate – NOT EXACTLY, they are
common for YOU, but not many others have 130 NO VOTES.

17.) Oops, I Miss-voted – NOT EXACTLY, only when caught by church groups and Democrats,

did you beg to change your misvote.

18.) I Was A Professor Of Law – NOT EXACTLY; you were a senior lecturer ON
    LEAVE.

19.) I Was A Constitutional Lawyer – NOT EXACTLY, you were a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.

20.) Without Me, There Would Be No Ethics Bill – NOT EXACTLY, you didn’t
write it, introduce it, change it or create it.

21.) The Ethics Bill Was Hard To Pass – NOT EXACTLY, it took just 14 days
    from start to finish.

22.) I Wrote A Tough Nuclear Bill – NOT EXACTLY, your bill was rejected by
your own party for its pandering and lack of all regulation – mainly because
of your Nuclear donor, Exelon, from which David Axelrod came.

sponsored or voted for have yet to be released, exposing all the special
    interests pork hidden within.

24.) I Took On The Asbestos Altgeld Gardens Mess – NOT EXACTLY, you were part of a large

group of people who remedied Altgeld Gardens . You failed to mention anyone else but

    yourself, in your books.

25.) My Economics Bill Will Help America – NOT EXACTLY, your 111 economic policies were

just combined into a proposal which lost 99-0, and even YOU
    voted against your own bill.

26.) I Have Been A Bold Leader In Illinois – NOT EXACTLY, even your own
supporters claim to have not seen BOLD action on your part.

27.) I Passed 26 Of My Own Bills In One Year – NOT EXACTLY, they were
not YOUR bills, but rather handed to you, after their creation by a fellow Senator, to assist

you in a future bid for higher office.

28.) No One on my campaign contacted Canada about NAFTA – NOT EXACTLY, the Canadian

Government issued the names and a memo of the conversation your campaign had with them.

So, who EXACTLY is this Obama guy and what is he trying to sell us?! Please
get to work now…not enough of your loved ones and friends know about this
    fraud.

  61. The world is coming to an end. First Dash, then Lohan, now a rapper endorses Romney:

    http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2012/10/rapper-shyne-is-latest-entertainer-to-support-mitt-romney/
    http://wild941.cbslocal.com/2012/10/12/shyne-ditches-obama-over-syria-deportation-id-vote-for-romney/

Shyne is the latest entertainer with hip-hop ties to jump on the Mitt Romney bandwagon. But the former Diddy protégé who has converted to Judaism, calls out the president over his policy in Syria.

Like Stacey Dash, who tweeted her approval for the Republican Candidate last week, the former Bad Boy rapper took to social media to make a statement about the present administration’s foreign policy.

“How obama put the hit on kadafy but assad murdering tens of thousands of his own people in Syria & nobody doing nothing?”

    — Shyne Po (@OriginalShyne) October 11, 2012

“A politician is a politician,” he continued. “African or Caucasian democrat or republican! G-d & bankers run the world!”

The Belize-born MC—who was deported out of the United States after being released from prison in 2009 following a nine year sentence for his part in the 1999 Club New York shooting—is unable to vote in the upcoming election given his current predicament. The rapper is having issues getting back into the U.S. And he putting the blame on the Leader of the Free World, pointing to their mutual friendship with Harvard Law professor Charles J. Ogletree.

Am I obligated to support Barack Obama because he’s half african american?” he questioned. “That’s that ish I dont like!”

Not only has the outspoken Jewish rapper challenged President Obama, he also professed his support to Romney.

I’d vote for Romney,” he told MTV’s RapFix.

As for his deportation, he blames President Obama.

“He knows who I am, he knows what’s happenin’,” Shyne said. “He’s always talkin’ about he listens to hip-hop and his daughter listens to hip-hop. He knows who Shyne is, he knows I’m deported.”

Shyne, who first garnered hip-hop accolades with his self-titled 2000 debut album, believes his presence in the United States would help at-risk youth, a point of view that he said President Obama doesn’t seem to grasp.

“How can he be serious about stopping violence in inner cities and promoting education in inner cities and not using Shyne?”

Yet Shyne is still optimistic about his return to the States. “I should be in America in a couple of months,” he said. “We working to try and get this visa. Obama is playing games, he frontin’, he better do the right thing.”

“Shyne is the son of Frances Imeon Myvette and Dean Barrow, the current Prime Minister of Belize.”

  62. I have been thinking about this since the debate. Biden went into his “quiet voice” at the end after all his nonsense of laughing, smirking etc.

Do you think even Biden realized that Ryan didn’t bite on those BS tactics and realized HE was the one coming off as a horse’s ass?

  63. I seem to recall that Issa and that idiot Elija Cummings will interview the goat of this whole debacle Rice in closed session. What comes out of that god only knows. I hope Issa tells us what he learns from this interview. No plea for immunity or confidentiality should issue. Given the scope and the gravity of this disaster the American People have the unconditional right to know what she said. We have heard the lie, now we are entitled to know the truth from her. And we do not need the first ten months of Obama’s second term clouded with Watergate type hearings. Take him down now, and give the country a chance to regain some of its former standing and posterity.

  64. Here is another possibility. Obama has made two claims:

    1. Before the attack, the State Department failed to advise him and crazy Joe of the requests for additional security from field personel.

    2. After the attack, the Intelligence Community failed to advise him that this was a terrorist attack, but led him to believe it was caused by the video.

Now during this critical period of time, we know for a fact:

    3. Obama did not attend intelligence briefings.

    4. Obama had lunch with Hillary.

    5. Obama ignored his presidential duties so he could campaign and play for the stupid voters on the late shows.

Question: is it not more likely that he was told some things, and other things he simply missed because he failed to attend intelligence briefings?

this is just one example of the filth that the democrat party has become. i will never go back. they have lost me forever.

  66. Obot Crony Capitalism at its best. So OTurd and dems want to raise our taxes even more so they can give funding to their bundlers. Give 50K in contributions to OTurd and get 500 million in funding from the American taxpayer.

And if you are an obot bundler like Jon Corzine or the folks who ran solyndra, who clearly violated laws, hey, its all good, nothing to see, move along.

Yep, most in family who were lifelong dems are now independents, they are done with the lunatics as well.

  68. After several days’ assimilation of the Biden performance, I can suggest that Joe was using an extension of the “aggravate whitey” tactic I first encountered in Newark NJ circa 1980: be as obnoxious as you can and DARE anyone opposing Obama to say a word, give a disapproving look, or otherwise indicate an politically incorrect attitude.

High honors to Ryan for keeping himself focused while our VP performed a task similar to gnats in May in the Poconos. Biden has also made the case for Republicans to assert that bi-partisan communication with this set of Democrats is just not possible.

  69. Hey, I’m thinking there will be an exciting countdown to November 6th. For one thing, Sen Bob Casey and Republican challenger Tom Smith have finally agreed to a debate which will be hosted by 6ABC (philly). October 28 at 1 pm. Early Sunday afternoon – not a friendly time for ordinary people. But good for the bashful Casey. BTW there may be two Smiths on the PA ballot. Second one a libertarian who may catch some votes meant for Tom Smith. Casey can hope.

Then this should shake things up lots:
…the super PAC of the national pro-life Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List), will announce a $150,000 ad buy in Virginia and unveil a new television ad at a press conference in the state capitol in Richmond.
    http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2012/10/new-ad-exposes-barack-obamas-support-for-slaughter-of-babies-born-alive-after-failed-abortions/

What else? Hill/Bill? Other things not yet realized?

  70. USA : Total number of ballots cast in all reporting jurisdictions: 855,141 so far.

    Interesting news for Florida is

Pinellas county which went for Obama by 9% in 2008 is running 3.2% ahead in 2012 for Romney in absentee votes. Early vote has dems running 1% more than GOP 41% to 40%

Brevard county which went for McCain by 10 in 2008 is running 20% ahead in absentee ballots for Romney in 2012. Early vote by party is GOP running 32% ahead of dems 57%-25%.

  71. Moon, how do they know these resuults. Are they looking at bllots issued and returned by each party, and assuming they are voting their party? I did not think you could count those votes until they had closed the polls. At least that was what I saw happen here.

  72. Maybe this will have some impact on Jews and their votes…..

Jewish group urges White House to cut ties with Cairo
Simon Wiesenthal Center: US can’t conduct ‘business as usual’ while Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood’s spiritual leader makes anti-Semitic remarks

    http://www.timesofisrael.com/jewish-group-condemns-egypts-muslim-brotherhood/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

JERUSALEM (AP) — A leading Jewish organization is calling on the White House to cut contacts with Egypt’s most powerful political movement, the Muslim Brotherhood, over anti-Semitic remarks attributed to its spiritual guide.

Mohammed Badie said that Jews were spreading “corruption,” had slaughtered Muslims and profaned holy sites, according to comments published on the group’s website and emailed to reporters. He further called on Muslims to fight Israel, saying Zionists only understood force.

Egypt’s President Mohammed Morsi, who was elected this summer in the aftermath of the country’s 2011 popular uprising, hails from the Brotherhood.

In a statement Friday, the Simon Wiesenthal Center said the US could not pretend to conduct “business as usual” when the group made such statements.

  73. GOP were very clever……i can see why this may tip…following on from yesterday.

    http://www.politico.com/politico44/2012/10/poll-romney-leads-obama-in-maine-congressional-district-138207.html

The Maine second congressional district, encompassing the northern and western part of the state, is largely rural and overwhelmingly white — groups that Obama has never done well among.

During redistricting, the Republican legislature also shifted two towns — Waterville and Winslow — that went heavily for Obama in 2008 from the second congressional district into the first — giving the GOP ticket a boost by removing two population centers from the district.

  74. NEETABUG? It seem The Big Dog and The Boss are stumping for Obama here in Cleveland this week. Want to go? Bring our Hillary signs? 🙂

  75. Hillary to the rescue. Quelling fears on the status of foreign policy relations after last night’s vice presidential debate, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton delivered remarks on democratic transitions in the Middle East Friday. The Secretary began by addressing Thursday’s announcement that the State Department knew before the attack that more security in Libya was needed. “No one wants to find out exactly what happened more than I do,” Clinton said, adding “there is much we still don’t know.” Clinton described the White House’s plan to continue “fighting terrorism” across the Middle East—and to increase pressure on Assad’s regime in Syria. “The U.S. will not retreat. We will keep leading and we will stay engaged in the Maghreb, and everywhere in the world.”

Jatras said their ultimate goal should come as no surprise to anyone – “strict enforcement of Sharia and re-creation of the Caliphate.” The Muslim Brotherhood has called for “Jihad to recapture Jerusalem,” and Morsi has been silent in response to that call.

Jatras believes that ultimately Egypt will not continue to honor their Peace Treaty with Israel as it pursues taking Jerusalem away from the Israelis.”

Good luck with that one. By the end of Obama’s second term Israel will be as isolated in the world as South Africa was before the transition. The claim of apartheid is made against them by barbarians who still believe in beheading, and are building nuclear weapons with the specific intent of obliterating Israel. Yet American Jews in alarming numbers worship the ground Obama walks on and just-don’t-get-it. They think appeasement and tribute will work . . .

    Rudyard Kipling

    Dane-Geld

It is always a temptation to an armed and agile nation
To call upon a neighbour and to say: —
“We invaded you last night–we are quite prepared to fight,
Unless you pay us cash to go away.”

And that is called asking for Dane-geld,
And the people who ask it explain
That you’ve only to pay ’em the Dane-geld
And then you’ll get rid of the Dane!

It is always a temptation for a rich and lazy nation,
To puff and look important and to say: —
“Though we know we should defeat you, we have not the time to meet you.
We will therefore pay you cash to go away.”

    And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
But we’ve proved it again and again,
That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
You never get rid of the Dane.

It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation,
    For fear they should succumb and go astray;
So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
You will find it better policy to say: —

    “We never pay any-one Dane-geld,
    No matter how trifling the cost;
For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
And the nation that pays it is lost!”

  79. A few days back I had wondered whether the embassy requests for extra security had stayed inside the State Dept (more likely) or actually reached the President (less likely). Obviously, blaing Hillary for the Benghazi debacle puts a torpedo in the Hillary 2016 battleship and risks alienating her husband, the guy who bailed out the Democratic convention. On the other hand, for Obama to claim ownership of the lax security decision could make for an awkward October and a miserable November. Tricky!

Well, Smirkin’ Joe Biden has answered that question – it’s the bus for Hillary:

Biden has come under fire for saying at Thursday night’s debate, “We weren’t told they wanted more security. We did not know they wanted more security there.”

The Cable asked Deputy National Security Advisor for Communications Ben Rhodes whether Biden was speaking for the entire Obama administration, including the State Department, which acknowledged receiving multiple requests for more Libya security in the months before the attacks. Rhodes said that Biden speaks only for himself and the president and neither of them knew about the requests at the time.

Romney on the rise in Ohio

“I’ve had the fun of going back and forth across Ohio, and this week, I was also in Florida and Iowa, … in North Carolina and Virginia,” Romney told 8,500 people packed into the Lancaster Town Square last night for a rally featuring him and running mate Paul Ryan.

Ryan debated Biden on Thursday night in Kentucky in their lone duel of the campaign; afterward, both sides were claiming victory.

“You know what? There’s a growing crescendo of enthusiasm,” Romney said. “People recognize that this is not an ordinary campaign, this is a critical time in the country. There’s more energy and passion. People are getting behind this campaign.”

Romney was previously greeted by huge crowds in Cuyahoga Falls on Tuesday night (12,000 people) and in Sidney, Ohio, on Wednesday night (9,000), and both he and Ryan have campaign stops scheduled in the state today. Ryan also added a noon rally in Cincinnati on Monday.

Most polls still show President Barack Obama with a lead over Romney in Ohio, a lead that inarguably has shrunk from the 5- to 10-point margins Obama held not long ago.

The Romney blitz and poll-tightening in Ohio followed Romney’s clear win over Obama last week in Denver — a debate for which Romney was praised and Obama was widely panned.

Most pundits agree Biden performed well enough Thursday night to at least heal some of the wounds Obama’s performance inflicted upon his re-election bid, but there was enough good from Ryan for Romney to credit him for some of the Lancaster crowd’s enthusiasm.

“Guys, we got to watch this guy debate. And there was one person on the stage with thoughtfulness, who was respectful, who was steady and poised,” Romney said, with Ryan standing on stage to his right. “There was one person on that stage who you’d want to be with in a crisis, and it’s this man right here.”

Romney was referring to Biden’s tone and body language. The excitement in Biden’s voice and smirks on his face while Ryan spoke earned the vice president the most criticism for his performance.

  82. http://dailycaller.com/2012/10/12/obamas-got-drama-now/

    Obama’s got drama now

It sure looks like Vice President Joe Biden put the blame on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, his potential 2016 rival, for the security failings Benghazi. “We weren’t told they wanted more security,” Biden declared. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney backed Biden up, saying it’s a State Department (i.e. Hillary) issue.

Will Hillary now retaliate and protect herself by leaking word that the White House did too know? Will her husband continue to tour the country trying to pull Obama’s bacon out of the fire (as he did at the convention) even as Obama points a finger at his wife? Will they all cut some sort of deal in which Hillary agrees to take the fall and Bill soldiers on … in exchange for, what? Have they already cut a deal? Is the White House going to try to hang its hat on the idea that Obama and Biden didn’t know, but maybe their staffs knew? Will that really fly? Aren’t they responsible for their staffs? Will the staffs fight back? …

It’s getting James Clavellish out there!

P.S.: Isn’t this the sort of juicy story Politico is supposed to be born cover? Yet they are asleep at the switch. Very Chalian of them! [cheap shot-ed I know!

  83. …if anyone has direct emails to candy crowley and bob schieffer please post so any who want to contact them have a better opportunity…(I had a computer crash a while ago and lost some of my media contacts)

I did find some emails and sent the following to candy crowley and copied bob schieffer and the debate commission

    Hello Candy,

I have three questions for you regarding the upcoming town hall debate you will be moderating:

1…In the last two debates, the Presidential and the VP debate, the democratic candidates both had MORE time to respond and the republican candidates were interrupted much more and challenged more by the moderator, how can we be sure that you will treat each candidate FAIRLY and make sure each candidate gets EQUAL amount of time to respond? Will you enforce the time fairly?

    2. In the Vice Presidential debate, VP Joe Biden continually laughed, almost uncontrollably, said things like “oh my god” while his opponent was speaking and interrupted his opponent, Paul Ryan, over 80 times…it was inappropriate behavior for any debate, much less a TELEVISED national debate at this level of importance…I believe it provided a very poor role model for students learning how to debate…can you imagine a professor allowing such debate behavior…

How will you guarantee that we do not have a repeat of this kind of behavior and that each opponent will be treated with the same respect as is given to their opponent?

3…How are the people chosen from the audience that will be asking the questions of each candidate? How can we be sure that the people chosen are not planted and each candidate will not be singled out for “gotcha questions” aimed at slanting the questions in favor of one candidate?

Candy, I implore and ask most sincerely that you remain impartial and do nothing to favor either candidate. I think Martha Radditz did a great injustice by continually interrupting, challenging and even continually CUTTING OFF Paul Ryan and not allowing him to complete the points he was trying to make…and then allowing Joe Biden to laugh and interrupt… this is an awful example to set and it was not fair…in fact, even CNN said that is was like three debaters, instead of two…

I leave you with one thought…can you imagine if the tables were turned and this kind of behavior was used against President Obama or Joe Biden…I hardly think the media would being saying “that’s Joe being Joe’…it is bad enough that the majority of people do not trust the media…please be FAIR…the people are not stupid regardless of the spin that goes on…we can see what we see and hear what we hear…we may not live inside the media bubble or be connected to the ‘gang of 500’ but we are not stupid…

…one last thing, when did being a democrat mean we throw away our principles of fairness and decency to favor one side…I used to think one of the best things about being a democrat meant being FAIR…

    Thank you.

Jesse Jackson, Jr.’s political career is circling the drain, as the thin veneer of his credibility as a lawmaker continues to erode.

The former Co-Chair of the Obama Presidential Campaign in 2008 became entangled in the saga of former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich’s effort to sell the vacated U.S. Senate seat of Obama.

Then, suddenly, he disappeared from the national stage to undergo medical treatment for a mental disorder. (Just a coincidence, of course.)

Now, it’s been reported in the Sun Times that J.J., Jr. is being investigated by the feds for “suspicious activity in the South Shore congressman’s finances related to his House seat and the possibility of inappropriate expenditures”.

The federal “probe” was reportedly active before J.J. Jr. vanished and sought medical treatment.

    ====================================================
Yes, I just want to reaffirm the value of this book as a basic checkpoint for anyone trying to understand what has happened to the Democratic Party we used to think we knew.

  90. From the article that S linked to:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/decision2012/romney-tries-to-bury-obama-in-ads/2012/10/12/b7712fdc-13c9-11e2-ba83-a7a396e6b2a7_story.html

Republican nominee Mitt Romney and his allies are banking heavily on a high-risk, high-reward media strategy in the final weeks of the campaign, hoping that burying President Obama in ads will give them a crucial edge on Election Day.

Ad purchases in the presidential race doubled or in some cases tripled last week in swing states such as Colorado, Florida, Iowa and Virginia, tracking data show. The surge is being driven by Romney and well-funded allies, who decided against running more ads earlier in the campaign in favor of a big bang at the end.

Restore Our Future, a super PAC dedicated to helping Romney, has booked $14 million worth of ads in nine states for the final week of October — more than it spent on ads during the month of September. The group is also ramping up its spending, airing a mix of ads criticizing Obama and extolling Romney in Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio and Virginia. [snip]

The ramped-up advertising by Republicans left Obama behind his GOP foes in total ad expenditures last week for the first time since the summer, though he has massive cash reserves after raising $181 million in September. Obama and his key outside ally, the Priorities USA Action super PAC, have kept up a steady barrage ads attacking Romney in Ohio and other battlegrounds. [snip]

Since the Republican convention in late August, the Obama side has run 28 percent more ads than Romney and all the groups behind him combined, according to estimates from Kantar Media/CMAG. Democrats spent slightly more than Republicans during that time, taking advantage of rules mandating cheaper ad time for campaigns and also seeking out less-expensive airtime at different times of day.

But Romney and GOP groups are now flooding the airwaves in force, spending about 50 percent more on ads than Obama this week, according to tracking data. The surge comes at a fortuitous time for Romney, who is now even or ahead of Obama in many national and swing-state polls.

The Romney campaign declined to discuss its ad strategy in detail. An aide who spoke on the condition of anonymity in order to discuss internal plans said the campaign is likely to increase its volume further as Election Day approaches.

Recent spending figures show a surprising move of resources into Florida, the biggest ad battleground, with 10 media markets and some of the most-expensive airtime in the country. In the first week of October, $1 of every $4 spent by the Obama campaign on broadcast advertising went to Florida; for the American Crossroads super PAC and its affiliate, Crossroads GPS, nearly $1 of every $3 was spent there.

Obama and Romney have gone up and down in Sunshine State polls in recent months, with the president posting strong numbers before the Denver debate but Romney gaining since.

The two sides have spent more than $100 million on ads in the state, with a slight advantage to Republicans.

Tad Devine, a top Democratic strategist, argues that in Florida, the Obama campaign “forced Romney to defend what should have been a Republican state.”

Florida is followed closely in combined spending by Virginia ($96 million through last Sunday), Ohio ($93 million) and North Carolina ($70 million), CMAG estimates show.

  91. Why do we not know about this :

Without Asking Congress, Obama Puts U.S. Troops on Syria Border

    http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/foreign-policy/item/13189-without-asking-congress-obama-puts-us-troops-on-syria-border#.UHnAiWB4-nY.twitter

The Obama administration has now publicly announced that it deployed U.S. troops near the Syrian border in neighboring Jordan without ever seeking congressional permission, supposedly in an effort to help the Jordanian government deal with refugees from Syria while ensuring that the civil war does not spill over into the broader region. Concerns about chemical and biological weapons falling into the “wrong hands” were also cited to justify the latest deployment, but some lawmakers are upset, warning that the U.S. is now even closer to overt military intervention in Syria.

U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, speaking at a NATO conference in Brussels, said the Obama administration had been cooperating closely with the government of Jordan’s King Abdullah II. Apparently both sides are concerned that Syria’s chemical weapons stockpiles could end up in the hands of al- Qaeda-linked Islamic extremists currently battling the secular Bashar al-Assad regime with support from the Western establishment and assorted Sunni dictatorships.

“We continue to be concerned about security at those sites,” Panetta said after the NATO meeting of defense chiefs. “We want to ensure that security is maintained and we want to be very sure that those [weapons] do not fall into the wrong hands.” The embattled Syrian dictatorship has reportedly tried to secure its stockpiles, but fears about them remain, especially in neighboring Turkey. “They are obviously concerned about the (weapons storage) sites as well,” Panetta said about the Turkish government. “So we’ve worked with them to do what we can to monitor the situation.”

Also part of the U.S. mission, according to officials from both countries, is supporting the Jordanian government. “We have a group of our forces there, working to help them build a headquarters and to ensure that we make the relationship between the United States and Jordan a strong one so we can deal with all of the possible consequences,” Panetta explained after the summit. “We’ve also been working with them to try to develop their own military and operational capabilities in the event of any contingency there.”

Numerous reports have suggested small teams of U.S. and Western government forces may already be operating in Syria. It remains unclear exactly how large the now acknowledged U.S. government presence along the Syria-Jordan border may be, but news reports citing officials claimed there were some 150 American Special Operations troops as well as so-called “trainers.” Also uncertain is where the Obama administration believes it found the lawful or constitutional authority to deploy U.S. troops to Jordan or Syria.

Some lawmakers, though, are outraged that the administration apparently thinks it can simply deploy American forces wherever it pleases without even obtaining permission from Congress. Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), who blasted the decision, also warned that the lawless deployment means the U.S. government is now “immeasurably” closer to being directly and overtly involved in the long-running Syrian war.

“I can see in a moment how it happens: we’re a few dozen miles from the Syrian border and all of a sudden we are within the reach of physical danger. All it takes is a single incident,” Kucinich told U.S. News, adding that talk of weapons of mass destruction was an argument for trying to reduce the violence rather than intensify it. “Putting U.S. troops on that border draws the U.S. much closer to war in Syria, which is a nightmare already and can be more of a nightmare for our country.”

According to Kucinich, who along with Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) has developed a reputation as one of the fiercest congressional critics of the bi-partisan war-mongering establishment, putting American troops on the border of a conflict area dramatically increases the potential for U.S. involvement. “There’s a trail of causality here,” he explained.

Despite the recent public announcements, however, American forces have been there for months. In fact, the Obama administration’s military scheming in Jordan related to the Syrian conflict has been underway since at least May. According to news reports, the U.S. government organized a massive “training exercise” with more than 10,000 troops from almost 20 countries in Jordan. American forces remained there after the exercise was finished.

“That’s not actually how I thought about it,” Obama said on the Michael YO! But the truth is, when you read the transcript, everything I said was true and a lot of what he said was not.””

Actually OTurd, most of everything Romney said was true which is why you couldn’t defend it. Plus you didn’t have your handy sidekick, the teleprompter.

Not sure I understand the phrase “high risk-high reward”. When Obama saturated the airwaves with his anti Romney material during the past several months, washpo never called that a high risk high reward strategy. On the contrary they called it sucessful, and told us his re election was inevitable. But when Romney does the same thing, instead of echoing their prior approval, the call it a high risk strategy. So where praytell is the risk? Typical washpo bullshit. They cannot bring themselves to deal the cards from the top of the deck. Liars is what they are.

  94. “washpo never called that a high risk high reward strategy”

Its only considered “high risk” when anyone opposing the Messiah does it, oh yes, and its also racist, they don’t say it, but I’m sure the race card will be used by the Obot MSM in full force in the remaining weeks.

“People wonder why it is I’m so confident we’re going to win. I’m confident because I see you here on a day like this. This is unbelievable,” Romney said, his wet hair stuck to the side of his face.

Soaked supporters standing in muddy puddles cheered as he delivered an abridged version of his standard campaign speech. Some wore ponchos, while many others stood shivering and drenched, hands in pockets.

At the Shelby County Fairgrounds, Judy Cartwright was wearing four layers to try to keep warm as the cold wind pushed temperatures into the 30s Wednesday night. It was Shelby’s first glimpse of a presidential candidate since she met Harry Truman as an elementary school student more than six decades ago.

    http://www.france24.com/en/20121013-obama-crams-debate-romney-claims-momentum

President Barack Obama headed to a Virginia hotel for debate camp Saturday on a mission to transform his re-election pitch after his tame first clash with Mitt Romney hammered his poll ratings.

Obama planned four days of cramming at the resort at the historic colonial city of Williamsburg, ahead of Tuesday’s crucial second debate against his Republican opponent with the November 6 election on a knife edge.

The president has seen Romney take the lead in national polls and eat deep into his prior advantage in battleground state surveys since the Republican’s clear victory in Denver 10 days ago, imperiling his hopes of a second term.

Obama’s aides have declined to say how the president will change his approach in the second debate, which takes place at Hofstra University, New York, but there have been signs of an evolving strategy.

Since the Denver showdown, Obama has unveiled a snappier stump speech, and criticized Romney for an “extreme makeover” of conservative positions and over a secretly filmed tape of him decrying half of Americans to rich donors.

Mystified Democrats sharply criticized Obama for not taking a similar tack during a lethargic and unfocused performance in the first debate.

    Connecticut Dem Jokes About Corruption

    3:22 PM, OCT 13, 2012 •

Bridgeport’s Democratic mayor Bill Finch, a supporter of Connecticut congressman Chris Murphy’s bid for the U.S. Senate against Republican Linda McMahon, jokes about corruption:

Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch is at it again. The Democrat who presided over a 2010 vote casting and counting scandal in the tight race for governor was caught on video Friday guaranteeing Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Christopher Murphy a big result in the state’s largest city–even if it takes days to count.

Bridgeport provided a crucial and dubious margin of victory to Democratic and Working Families Governor Dannel P. Malloy in 2010 amidst unprecedented chaos at the city’s polling places. The 2010 Bridgeport assault on democracy included photocopied ballots, altered hours at polling places, a mysterious bag of votes and Finch’s abuse of the city’s emergency notification system to increase turnout on Election Day.

Murphy, locked in a dead heat with Republican Linda McMahon, needs the grimy Bridgeport Guarantee. He got it from Finch on Friday while visiting small businesses in the poverty-wracked city. A laughing Finch boasts even if it takes a couples of days to get the results,”You can be guaranteed you’re going to get the vote.” Two years after the 2010 fiasco, it remains no laughing matter to the rest of Connecticut.

Murphy and Finch served together in Connecticut’s state Senate for four years.

  100. Always Clarifying: Biden Speaks for Himself, Not Administration on Libya
    Katie Pavlich
Posted at 1:53 PM ET, 10/12/2012

Vice President Joe Biden is still in hot water today after saying last night during the vice presidential debate in Danville that State Department officials in Benghazi didn’t request more consulate security. As previously reported, the facts, backed up by documents, cables and Congressional testimony, show officials in Benghazi requesting more security in early 2012. After the debate, Deputy Campaign Manager Stephanie Cutter said she “didn’t catch” Biden’s remarks about Libya and today, the White House is saying Biden doesn’t speak for the entire administration when it comes to Libya and was speaking about his personal knowledge about the situation.

Vice President Joseph Biden speaks only for himself and President Barack Obama, and neither man was aware that U.S. officials in Libya had asked the State Department for more security before the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, a top White House official told The Cable.

The State Department security officials who testified before House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa’s panel Wednesday never said they had made their requests to the president, Rhodes pointed out. That would be natural because the State Department is responsible for diplomatic security, not the White House, he said. Rhodes also pointed out that the officials were requesting more security in Tripoli, not Benghazi.

“All of us at post were in sync that we wanted these resources,” the top regional security officer in Libya over the summer, Eric Nordstrom, testified. “In those conversations, I was specifically told [by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Charlene Lamb] ‘You cannot request an SST [Site Security Team] extension.’ I determined I was told that because there would be too much political cost. We went ahead and requested it anyway.

Got that? Joe Biden wasn’t personally told about requests for more security in Libya and therefore, the adminstration isn’t responsible for the 9/11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

Let’s go back to what Rep. Jason Chaffetz said yesterday after the debate.

“I found it shocking the Vice President claims he doesn’t know that more assets were required in Libya. He’s supposed to be the foreign policy expert, if he doesn’t know that, especially after yesterday’s hearing. Where in the world is he,” Chaffetz told Townhall. “Every day begs more questions from this administration. We had four people confirm under sworn testimony that yes, the security officials on the ground were asking for more assets and did not get them.”

  101. To me, it is pure fiction that Obama and Biden did not know about the request for more security–not when everyone at the operational level was asking for it. Rather, in a dysfunctional organization like his, this was something he did not want to hear, because it contradicted his narrative from the Convention that he took down Osama, and al Quaeda is in retreat. Consequently, his campaign, his adminstration and his big media suck slaves hid the truth from the American People. They believed it would all blow over. But the Ambassador’s diary changed that and how what Obama and Biden are trying to achieve is plausible deniablity. And for that, they are undoubtedly seeking advice from Perkins Coie, a Seattle firm which is joined at the hip to this Administration.

Any other adminstration would have given this idiot the vaudville hook long before now. This is an old trial lawyers tactic. When you want to put certain kinds of evidence into the record, you look for a witness who is ignorant of everything else so they cannot cross examine her. That is what she is. Ignorant and mean spirited. I can envision her as a sorority brat at Harvard, putting the pledges through ten kinds of hell. Or she could audition for a role in the movie Carrie.

    Biden’s Intelligence
Nuclear Iran? Resurgent al Qaeda? ‘Let’s all calm down.

Joe Biden’s unbounded id is the talk of the nation after Thursday’s debate. But the Veep is also the elder Democratic statesman on international affairs, and in between his snickers, guffaws and “malarkey,” he shed newsworthy light on Obama Administration foreign policy. Let’s roll the tape.

On Iran, Mr. Biden broke new ground, though most of the media missed it. To a question about the Administration’s willingness to stop the Tehran regime from going nuclear, he said what matters isn’t Iran’s ability to enrich uranium to weapons grade. It’s whether it can build and deliver a bomb.

“They are a good way away,” he said. “When my friend [Paul Ryan] talks about fissile material, they have to take this highly enriched uranium, get it from 20% up. Then they have to be able to have something to put it in. There is no weapon that the Iranians have at this point.”

“Let’s all calm down a little bit here,” Mr. Biden said a few minutes later.

In other words, Iran may have made progress toward enriching enough uranium to sufficient strength to build a bomb in the past four years, but that’s immaterial. Based on the Vice President’s intelligence, Iran isn’t close to getting the trigger mechanism, missiles and all the other things needed to deploy a weapon. So don’t worry.

Hmmm. For a decade, the U.S. and Europe have focused on coaxing and coercing the Iranians to stop enrichment above all else. That’s because this is the hardest thing about building a bomb. Iran has in any case worked to develop missiles and triggers with help from Russians, North Koreans and others. In a clearer moment this summer, Mitt Romney said he would insist that Iran not enrich any uranium, even ostensibly for peaceful purposes. He failed to repeat this demand in his foreign-policy speech this week.

Biden and Ryan dive into foreign policy, debate on what steps each platform will take with Iran in terms of military action.

To hear Mr. Biden tell it, the Obama Administration now has a new red line on Iran. The mullahs can enrich as much uranium as they wish as long as they “don’t have something to put it in.” This isn’t the red line Israel’s Bibi Netanyahu had in mind during his recent speech before the United Nations. Nor are Turkey, Saudi Arabia and others looking for proof of an Iranian ICBM before they decide to go nuclear themselves. Iran becomes a regional nuclear power when it demonstrates its ability to get the bomb at almost a moment’s notice, which is when it has developed enough fuel for it.

The Veep made a spirited case as well for doing nothing in Syria—no “no fly” zones, direct arms supplies to the rebels, or any U.S. political lead in an intervention. “If, in fact, it blows up and the wrong people gain control, it’s going to have impact on the entire region, causing potentially regional wars,” he said of Syria. News stories suggest this is happening already without any U.S. involvement, as the Syrian war pulls in Iraq, Lebanon and Turkey.

Mr. Biden appeared to preview another Obama policy shift on Afghanistan. With a 2014 deadline to transition the security lead to the Kabul government, the discussion will shift to how large the American military footprint will be afterward—with up to 30,000 U.S. troops left behind to ensure the Taliban don’t overrun Kabul again.

But Mr. Biden said something different: “We are leaving in 2014, period, and in the process we’re going to be saving over the next 10 years another $800 billion.” He added that Afghan forces are ready to defend the country themselves and lead the fight in the difficult east, another piece of intelligence that’s news to us.

On the attacks in Benghazi, Mr. Biden turned uncharacteristically terse. A day before the debate, a House hearing revealed that the U.S. Embassy in Libya had been concerned about a rising al Qaeda-linked Islamist threat and had requested, but was denied, security reinforcements.

“Well, we weren’t told they wanted more security again,” said Mr. Biden, contradicting the testimony of State Department officials. He also blamed “the intelligence community” for the Administration’s initial and false assertions that Ambassador Chris Stevens and three American colleagues were killed in a “spontaneous” protest against an anti-Islam video on YouTube. This is the same “intelligence community” he is sure can tell us with certainty when Iran has a bomb and the Taliban is defeated.

Asked Friday about Mr. Biden’s claims, White House spokesman Jay Carney said: “He was speaking directly for himself and for the President. He meant the White House. . . . No one who testified about this matter suggested that requests for additional security were made to the President or the White House. These are issues appropriately that are handled by security professionals at the State Department. And that’s what he was talking about.” So blame State and the intelligence community.

Don’t worry, be happy may be a good campaign theme for Mr. Biden. Don’t worry about a resurgent al Qaeda in North Africa. Or the escalating war in Syria. Or Iran’s mullahs with weapons grade uranium, or Vladimir Putin’s increasingly anti-American policy, or China’s muscular antics in the Pacific. Overseas, said Mr. Biden, this Administration has “repaired our alliances so the rest of the world follows up again.” He clearly knows something the world doesn’t.

At one time, the Republican Party was the party of the wealthy and the Democratic Party was the party of the people.

    Today, those polls have reversed.

Today, the political dynamic is the struggle between the Washington DC establishment vs. the American People.

Today, the Democratic party represents the Washington DC Establishment–not the American People. Minorities and youth are simply their pawns.

Today, the Washington establishment is an incestutous cabal of big media, bureaucrats, lobbyists, think tankers, trade associations whose wealth and power depends upon the perpetuation of big government, grand bargains and looting the public–one way or another.

Mind you the establishment Republicans are that way too. But as long as the Republican Party adheres to the principal of limited goverment, their betrayal of the country will never rise to the level we see with the democrats. They have less incentive to steal. (Bush was the exceptiong)

Historically, the Democratic Party was the friend of the American People. Today however, especially under Obama, who is funded by foreign interests as we now know, they are the enemy of the American People. And more is the pity for that.

In Radio Interview With Miami DJ, President Obama Weighs in on Mariah Carey vs. Nicki Minaj, Biden Shaving His Head, and His Debate Performance

President Obama appeared on the Miami radio station Y100 Friday, where he weighed in on the Mariah Carey v. Nicki Minaj feud, was asked whether Vice President Joe Biden should shave his head to look more authoritative, and said he should have brought up Mitt Romney’s “47 percent” video tape during the presidential debate because “the media’s attention span is fairly short.”

The president spoke with DJ Michael “Yo” Simmons, the self-billed “Half-Black Brother with a Korean Mother” who also does stand-up and serves as a celebrity correspondent on E! News.

“If you want to get out the vote, the place to go is the YO Show,” the president said. [snip]

Yo asked the president about the feud between “American Idol” divas Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj.

“You know what, I think they are going to be able to work it out,” the president said. “I’m all about bringing people together.”

Asked which was his favorite, the president said Carey.

“She’s actually done some events for us, I’ve gotten to know her and Nick (Cannon); she’s a wonderful lady,” he said.

“Nicki, I don’t know, but I’ve got her on my iPod,” the president said.

Minaj in a recent contribution to a Lil Wayne mix tape rapped: “I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy b*****s is f*****g up the economy.”

How would the president do on “American Idol?” Yo asked him.

“You know, you’ve heard me sing some Al Green,” the president said. “I’m going to keep my day job.”

I am sure she knew, she told Obama and she has proof. But when he turned down the request for political reasons, she should have insisted. After all, the Ambassador was her friend. But she was too invested in the Obama foreign policy to put up the fight. And she figured she would be stepping down soon enough. Of course she never believed anyone would be killed. Now she is trying to slow the process down. The Clintons have concluded that the best way to kill this story if to get Obama re elected. That is why Bill is going to Ohio. The goal here is to preserve her legacy so she can have the same kind of informal power as Bill does today. She has no intention of running in 2016.

  117. The vice presidential debate marked a turning point in media coverage of the campaign. FOX got 47% of the viewing audience. This has sent shock waves through big media, as they see their power, influence and market share slipping away. If you believe they are rabid ideologues, then this makes no difference. They will stick with Obama. But if you believe they are whores, then they will go where the money is. In that case, the market will force them to be more objective in their reporting. We are seeing some of this now with CNN. They said today that if Obama does not have a strong performance in the next debate, its over The decision by Joe Lieberman and Collins to call Senate Hearings will force the rest of big media to cover this. If they conclude that Obama is going down then they will jump ship. Browkaw as highly critical of Bidens tour de force, and the left wing hacks at NBC were shaken by his assessment. He is a Soros guy, but they listen to him. In sum, we are at another point of inflection, turning point, call it what you will.

Will Obama have a strong performance in the next debate, and even if it is not strong, will big media say that it is. You can be sure that his minions will fill him full of Hennie Youngman one liners. But the fact remains, Obama works best with the teleprompter, the wind at his back, and a cheering audience. Deprived of those tools, it is likely that he will falter at some point, and when he does, big media may be slower to rescue him than they were in the past. By now, they must realize that if they continue to overplay their hand and Romney wins, their relationship with the new Administration will be highly problematic.

  118. But, is CNN setting an “objective” meme now because Crowley is the moderator on Tues. and wants to stifle any questions about her being unbiased?

  119. Candy Crowley can’t really run a lot of inteference in a townhall debate, the people ask the questions, sure she picks which ones but she cannot pull crap with the audience surrounding the debaters, she will need to really stick out of most of it.

A townahll is where the debaters have to be very very weary of how they react facially and personally and i suggest Mitts way will to deal with people like a pastor, talk to them directly one to one and counsel them. This is where Mitt should excel whereas Obama thinks its beneath him. The townahll cannot be in agressive tones and if Obama gets angry, loses his cool, it will not look well for him, it needs to be civil, think on their feet and Obama could easily get knocked off his game here with an odd question or two here or there.

    wbboei,
Normally I find myself agreeing with about 95% of what you post. Here, however, I do not. Based on the growing conflict between Bumbles and President Clinton, as well as quite a few of his recent interviews, I think the issue of Hillary running in 2016 is very much on the table. Its really hard to question his political instincts. With the debate prep diss fresh in his mind, I would really love to hear HOW he is stumping for teh one. And there is still the party loyalty that must be maintained. As much as I want the two of them to leave the dimocrats to their slow and painful death, the political landscape would suggest that SOME party support is needed to mount a presidential bid. And while he is stumping for teh one, he is also campaining for dems, and you had better be SURE that any of them that wins in an environment this toxic to democrats will be paying the Clintons back in due course.

Keep posting wbboei! Really love reading your insightful comments. 🙂

  121. One of the most important skills an elected official can possess is the ability to pivot away from unpopular or unsuccessful policies. Some call it flip-flopping while others call it common sense. Like the green energy boondoggle and the Pigford settlements this administration under the guidance of Obama continues to push the bizarre and ideological “outreach to Muslims” irregardless of how errant his policy. Remember that he had NASA doing this crap until it was too defunded to do it anymore. He stopped his debate prep to do so in Virginia again yesterday. http://www.politico.com/politico44/2012/10/obama-campaign-holds-muslim-outreach-event-138337.html

The toadying Lamb and Kennedy who recently were grilled by the Issa subcommittee served their masters well by showing the political correctness du jour by harping about how ME countries have gun laws (another politically correct dig at the US), don’t like US guards on US sovereign diplomatic property, and would prefer locals (that the corrupt radical regimes can control) insinuate themselves into the daily functioning of US operations thus ensuring US staff at their mercy. The unspeakable stupidity of this policy, the cruelty of the ass-covering “it’s the rules” and “it is current policy” did not seem to penetrate either of their smug thick skulls until they were exposed as the freaks who watched four colleagues being murdered in real time and could come in before Congress and attempt to defend this lunacy. After a few minutes of discussing the problems, such as high turnover, poor training, etc., it was apparent that it is a clusterf*#k of monumental proportions and being pushed forward for ideological reasons that has nothing to do with security and everything to do with stroking fantasy driven theoretical great pro-radical Muslim thinkers in the Obama orbit. Four people were murdered for “Muslim outreach”.

Admin has made a very good case that this stuff was a policy probably pushed by Soviet style political minders sprinkled throughout State to end-run Hillary. Setting up a co-State Dept run from the WH through the newly Cabinet level Obama flunky UN Sec Rice would also indicate their intent. Can the WH continue to obfuscate and divert for the next three weeks with two more debates with one of them a foreign policy one? No. The media sees the polls shifting and cannot afford to be on the wrong side on November 7th and is starting to aim for the fence. Issa has ALL of the memos and I would assume Romney knows the gist of what is in them. Big Dog Bill has lawyered up to avoid spilling the wrong beans. The CIA, State Dept, and military intelligence are leaking like sieves. Surveillance cameras in Benghazi captured what is in effect a snuff film and all this administration cares about is raising money, and talking to hip hop radio stations. Send out dry drunk Biden to point the finger at Hillary.

Hillary (and Bill) have a few days to decide what to do and how to do it. They can keep their mouths shut and be forever smeared or they can ruin Obama and be further ostracized by the very people who stole the nomination and a second Clinton administration from them and the US public. I know what I would do but my motto is don’t get mad get even.

  122. I think there are two issues:

Why was there not more security in Benghazi?
The State Department is responsible, requests were made for Tripoli not Benghazi and I doubt that they reached Hillary’s desk.

Changing story lines after the terrorist attack in Benghazi
This is a mess with the whole administration involved, including Hillary.

However, Romney is not in good shape here in my view. He played politics with National Security by releasing stupid statements (‘apologizing’ administration..) before anyone knew what was going on and – even worse – he stood by this crap after it was clear he was wrong.. Obama will paint him as an opportunist ‘that will say anything to become elected’ and this might stick, especially with Romney..
Hillary will come out just fine here, she will present the results of the investigation and detail the changes needed, thereby reinforcing the image of a competent, hardworking professional she already has 🙂

PressTV – US FBI agents, Special Operations forces arrive in Benghazi Saturday October 6
…The daily quotes the US Defense Department’s Press Secretary George Little as merely stating to reporters that the FBI agents and their military protectors were in Benghazi “for a number of hours” before returning back to Tripoli.
The US compound in Benghazi was attacked on September 11 by angry protesters who had staged anti-American rallies at the site in reaction to the release of a US-produced anti-Islam film that insulted Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). During the melee, American Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other Americans were killed.
According to the report, security concerns had kept the American intelligence agents and investigators from traveling the 400 miles from the American embassy in Tripoli to gather evidence at the US consulate in Benghazi. Administration officials on Thursday attributed the delay to the Libyan government, which they said was slow in granting approval for the US operation….

Today, son-in-law is a small businessman still doing very well, but he knows he is the exception. Now says “But Mister Obama believes …” with a distasteful air if he mentions Obama at all.

  135. Tim, we are still in a holding pattern in Roswell. NM. we are still hoping for a launch, but might hold until tomorrow.

  136. OK article from NYT. Nice try but Romney is not as hopeless as the writer thinks he is, he could still try to connect Obama’s Libyan intervention to a half-hearted effort that led to a failure. Just drop a couple of lines in the debate on how Romney would have followed up in Libya after Gaddafi.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/14/opinion/sunday/douthat-the-mystery-of-benghazi.html?_r=0

Perhaps, then, the real explanation for the White House’s anxiety about calling the embassy attack an act of terror has less to do with the “who” than with the “where.” This wasn’t Al Qaeda striking just anywhere: it was Al Qaeda striking in Libya, a country where the Obama White House launched a not-precisely-constitutional military intervention with a not-precisely-clear connection to the national interest.

In a long profile of President Obama published last month by Vanity Fair, Michael Lewis suggested that the president feared the consequences of even a single casualty during the Libyan incursion, lest it create a narrative about how “a president elected to extract us from a war in one Arab country got Americans killed in another.”

How much more, then, might the president fear a narrative about how our Libyan intervention helped create a power vacuum in which terrorists groups can operate with impunity? That’s clearly happened in nearby Mali, where the ripple effects from Muammar el-Qaddafi’s overthrow have helped empower a Qaeda affiliate. In this context, it’s easy to see why the administration would hope that the Benghazi attack were just spontaneous mob violence rather than a sign of Al Qaeda’s growing presence in postintervention Libya as well.

The only good news for Obama in this mess is the fact that Romney, always intent on projecting toughness, hasn’t attacked the original decision to go to war in Libya, or tied the intervention itself to Al Qaeda’s North African advances.

If the Republican nominee were less reflexively hawkish, the White House might be facing the more comprehensive critique that it deserves — and the story wouldn’t be about just the specifics of Benghazi, but also the possibility that Obama’s entire policy in the region has put American interests and lives at risk.

“…. I think that the Benghazi incident should rightfully be blamed on Hillary. She is responsible for keeping the ambassadors safe. The only way that she can get out of this is if the request was made and she wanted to provide more security and the Obama White House overruled her….”
    *******

If the only two people in the world were HRC and Obama, then your reasoning would stand up and I could only agree with you.

However, there are other people involved in this incident, not the least of whom is Chris Stevens himself: We still don’t know why he left the Embassy in Tripoli for the consulate in Benghazi and then hid out in a safe house where he was tracked down and killed. Was he acting on HRC’s orders?

There were also other options, such as closing the consulate which served no ostensible purpose.

Then there is the question of whether our intelligence was precise enough to know there would be an attack by a heavily armed force of 125 men with sophisticated weapons, a game plan and insider dope. Even if we had doubled, tripled, quadrupled our security at this useless outpost, there would have been that many more Americans killed.

The Secretary of State is our chief diplomat, not our Secretary of Defense or a general. I for one can understand that the options taken in the weeks leading up to 9/11/12 were not clear-cut for the diplomatic corps at any level.

2008: The enthusiasm after Obamas election was huge. He was seen as the first ‘black president’, a likable guy and people were relieved that the Bush years were finally over. Obama became a symbol for the ‘American dream’, which is still much admired over here. Just look at the Noble price for Obama and you understand what was going on in Europe…

2012: The enthusiasm is gone. Obama did not fix Washington; nobody over here understands what is going on in Washington. His economic policy was not successful; disappointment about the role of the USA with respect to climate change policy is big. The foreign policy of the Obama administration however is seen as clearly better than Bushes and Hillary Clinton is very popular in Europe.
The Republican Party is being perceived as rather extreme and Obama is partially getting away with ineffective policies because Republicans are being faulted for the Washington misery.
The set-up of this election is hard to understand from over here. The key message from 2008 seems to be ENOUGH after 43 white men in a row as president. Why did the Republican Party not nominate a woman? Instead they come up with Romney, a ‘classic’ Republican candidate… The 45th president of the USA will be a woman that seems not absolutely but almost certain.
This is my last post for a while; I will go back to just following this site by reading..

Most people would agree with you–not me on that point. I realize that. Ed Klein certainly agrees with you. It could well be that Bill’s primary motive was to help Democrats who are running in tight races, in what you accurately describe as a toxic environment for Democrats. And, there have certainly been reports that when he is addressing those crowds, he spends more time praising the virtues of the congressional candidate, than singing praise God Obama from whom all blessings flow. Absent a Carter-Kennedy style rift this is de rigeur.

That said, it is hard to deny that Biden and then Carney threw Bill’s wife under the bus. That is the critical factor. It takes the issue beyond the limits of business as usual, hurt feelings, and the like. It is an existential threat for the Clintons and the legacy they hope to establish. As such, it raises a finite set of responses, and Mickey Kaus laid them out rather nicely, towit:

What I am suggesting is that after reviewing all options, the Clintons have decided that the best chance to preserve their legacy is to delay the investigation, help Obama win and let the issue die. In that case, the lap dog media will go back to protecting them, in exchange for the kind of access and influence they have enjoyed these past four years. I realize this is a cold sort of suggestion, but it makes sense.

The other thing I would reiterate is that Hillary has proof that she notified Obama. That much is clear. But I think she is holding it back and will not use it unless she is attacked. Meanwhile, the Republicans are giving her a pass, because they know it does them no good to let Obama escape unscathed by blaming Hillary which is that they were doing before this deal was struck. The bigger problem however is the ambassador was a friend, and although she never dreamed he would die, she did let him down by not fighting Obama tooth and nail on the refusal to provide additional security. A good leader supports their subordinates when they need help and I think she fell in line with Obama for the reasons mentioned. I draw this conclusion with reluctance, hoping that I am wrong.

  141. Rasmuseen Daily Romney 49 Obama 47 +1 from yesterday

Rasmussen Swing States Romney 49 Obama 47 +1 yesterday

This is Thurs/Fri/Sat rolling, so Romney may be getting small bounce from Ryan’s debate, considering weekend polling normally favours Obama.

  142. One other thing. I could not reach that conclusion if I believed that the Hillary I see today is the same Hillary I saw during the 2008 campaign. Much has changed, and this is often what happens when people decide to make accomodations in order to preserve power. This is common enough in politics, but it has to be factored into the equation.

“The Clintons have concluded that the best way to kill this story if to get Obama re elected. ”

Then they are fools. OTurd is more destructive to this country than I have ever seen. The country is and always will be more important than any politicians, whether it be the clintons or anyone else.
    ———————————
Fools? No. What it says to me is that they care about their own future, more than anything else. That may sound Machiavellian, but it is a prevalent trait among politicians–at least those who survive over the decades. Granted, there are exceptions, and the woman I worked for in politics was an exception. She always put the country and the Constitution first, and sometimes that got her in trouble. But she was the exception, not the rule.

    ———————
How naiive. This will be the subject of the debate on foreign policy. The NYT which has been hiding the Libyian debacle from the American People, and has been assailed by their own internal ombudsman for exactly that, is trying to shoe horn their obsolete narrative into a rapidly develping story. Rather than leading the discussion (often down the wrong alley), they are now playing catch up and putting out drivel like this in a vain attempt to save their puppet.

Your assessment is of the wall.
Voters with a brain will not pick their candidate because of the color of their skin or their gender.
We should have elected Hillary because she was the best candidate in 2008. Now the best candidate is Romney.

You are reading propaganda…not news. The extreme candidate in this election is Obama.

  146. woman4power…you sound like Stephanie Cutter…

…there is nothing opportunistic about a candidate running for President to comment on four americans being killed in a terrorist attack…especially when this attack has become one of the main stories in the news and in the debates…and for that matter, is under investigation in the Congress…

  147. on a different matter, I was dismayed to hear this morning that there are plans for O and Bill to campaign together in the last week…this is after Bill campaigns with Springsteen in Ohio…

it sounded like it might be the O and Bill show in the last week…and Bill doing his best to drag O’s skinny butt over the line between winning and losing…that i absolutely cannot get behind…Bill could absolutely be the X factor in O winning…

  148. As S and Jen the Michigander noted Republicans/conservatives appear to know that Hillary Clinton is not the one to blame here. They seem to know the problem is Obama. Now this additional piece of the puzzle from Republican/conservative supersite PowerLine:

    http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2012/10/what-happened-in-benghazi.php

    What Happened In Benghazi

The State Department has released a transcript of a briefing that two high-ranking department officials gave to a number of reporters via conference call on October 9 (Tuesday).

It was obvious to the reporters on the call that this narrative blows Obama’s evasions sky high:

First question is from the line of Anne Gearan with the Washington Post. Please go ahead.

QUESTION: Hi. You said a moment ago that there was nothing unusual outside, on the street, or outside the gates of the main compound. When did the agents inside – what – excuse me, what did the agents inside think was happening when the first group of men gathered there and they first heard those explosions? Did they think it was a protest, or did they think it was something else?

SENIOR STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL TWO: The agent in the TOC heard the noise, heard the firing. Firing is not unusual in Benghazi at 9:40 at night, but he immediately reacted and looked at his cameras and saw people coming in, hit the alarm. And the rest is as I described it. Does that help?

O is a President in name only, he does not like the hard work and has no interest in doing it…he loves the perks and adulation, but that’s where it stops

  153. Yeah, S. The WH is trying to extricate itself in the short term looking for an out about Libyan murders. But Romney should bring up the larger points about Obama dropping the ball like he did in everything else.

    ——————————————-
If you go back to the 2008 Convention, there was a private exchange between Hillary and Obama, where Hillary cautioned him about doing something which was not credible. He looked her in the eye and said: “I can make them believed anything I want them to believe.” By them he meant not only the immediate audience at the convention, but the media and the public at large as well. At the time, he was right about all three. Hillary had thrown in the towel so the party had united behind him and would not question anything he might say. Big media had seen to it that he was elected, and now they planned to reap the financial benefits of their efforts. Ergo, they too would accept anything–anything he said as gospel. And the majority of the public was convinced that Obama could walk on water and fly, so extreme was their delusion, their obsession, their fantasy. Hence they too were true believers.

Obama’s belief, indeed his passionate conviction that the party, the media and the public will take anything and everything he says as gospel–that his his problem now. The story he has told about the video, what they knew and when they knew it, and who is to blame is not credible. Nonetheless, Obama is convinced that he can make everyone believe it, if he says it, and is forceful enough. The party may not believe any longer that he is god, but they are petrified to say anything different, therefore insofar as the world is concerned they are still in the tank. In other words, they are totally worthless. Big media is still in the fold. However, with each new disclosure the illusion of his infallibility and inevitablity becomes harder to believe. Were it not for FOX, and its 47% market share, they would stay the course. Obama is too sweet of a deal for them. The fact that they prosper while the country declines is of absolutely no moment to them.

It is the public, the great unwashed whom these elitist all disdain between bites of caviar, who is beginning to doubt Obama. The partisans never bought his bullshit in the first place, and are quick to say I told you so. The naive people who voted for him are either behaving sheepishly, or are digging in and becoming aggressive, irrational and unstable. But with the exception of them–the floridly delusional bots and jurnolisters, he cannot make them believe anything he wants them to. The problem is, Obama has not awakened to that fact, nor will he. His pathology precludes that reaction. And if he goes down, all you will hear from him is that he was the victim of racism, and a country that cannot stand to see a black man succeed. He can ill afford to blame himself.

    ———————-
Moon, that Gallup would show a 2 point Romney lead now is significant. Why? Because, as Jay Cost points out, Gallup has under undue influence adjusted their methology to make it more favorable to Obama, by increasing the non-white percentage of the sample for 27% to 32%. That in turn has the effect of adding 3% to Obama’s job approval,— and perhaps his head to head against Romney as well. If that assumption is correct, then what we have here is really not a 2 point margin, but a 5 point margin. Here is the article and passages which I am referring to:
    —————————
“Unusual. So, what’s going on? Alan Abramowitz of Huffington Post and The Democratic Strategist noticed that Gallup has increased its share of nonwhites from 27 percent the week of the convention to 32 percent last week, a nearly 20 percent boost. In other words, Gallup seemed to have tweaked its methodology with just weeks to go until Election Day to reflect the criticism that has come from the left. (snip)

My guess is that it has moved the needle toward Obama by maybe 3 points on job approval, but we cannot know for sure. We also have no idea the extent to which this changes the Romney-Obama head-to-head among registered or likely voters.”

    Ross Douthat Misses The Obvious
    By: streiff (Diary) | October 14th, 2012 at 12:41 PM | 2

    RESIZE: AAA
In today’s New York Times, columnist Ross Douthat writes on The Mystery of Benghazi in which he tries to unravel why, oh why the Obama regime would lie to the American public about what happened in Benghazi.

Douthat, for unfathomable reasons, starts off with this rather bizarre premise:

TWENTY-FOUR hours after the American compound in Benghazi was attacked and our ambassador murdered, the tragedy seemed more likely to help President Obama’s re-election campaign than to damage it.

The White House already enjoyed more public credibility on foreign policy than on almost any other issue. When Mitt Romney reacted to the attack with a partisan broadside, portraying a news release sent out by the Cairo embassy before any violence began as a White House apology to the attackers, the president’s path forward seemed clear. He would be disciplined and careful, show anger and steel but also coolness under pressure, and let the rally-round-the-flag effect do its natural work.

To the contrary. The only “rally-round-the-flag effect” visible after the Benghazi attack was the media rallying around the White House. When Obama flew to Las Vegas for a political rally, most Americans not employed by the New York Times and Washington Post, were horrified. By the time Susan Rice made her disastrous, falsehood laden appearance on the Sunday shows on September 16 the broad outlines of the story were known. First, there was no riot in Benghazi. Second, there was advance warning of the attack. Third, there had been requests for enhanced security from the embassy which had been ignored by the State Department.

In his column we follow the White Rabbit of Truth down many rabbit holes arriving here:

Eventually, the White House let the video slip quietly out of its public rhetoric, and refocused on terrorism instead. But everything else that’s come out about Benghazi has seemed much more damning because the administration practiced a strange denial at the outset. The missed warnings, the weaknesses in security, the drip-drip of detail unspigoted by reporting and Congressional hearings — all of it would have been received differently if the White House hadn’t spent a week acting as if it had something big to lose by calling terrorism terrorism.

He seems to conclude that it is Obama’s inherent humanity that resulted in the egregious series of lies he and his regime have fed the country when their duty was to tell the truth.

This is only half right. The truth is much more obvious and much more banal.

Obama entered the White House intent upon proving that everything his predecessor had done was either 1) wrong or 2) wrongly executed. When the illusory “Arab Spring” happened, Obama glommed onto it as a way of proving that it wasn’t necessary to use large scale American intervention to overthrow friendly governments, that we could use unidentified mobs to accomplish the same thing. This resonated with the whole “community organizer” and street action romance that permeates the mentality of Marxists of all ages.

To react to our ambassador’s request for additional security would have triggered the obvious question: why? The answer, that al Qaeda was gaining control in Libya and we were not liberators but targets, would be unpalatable in a closely fought election. The result was a few “bumps in the road.”

In the aftermath, the regime was confronted with the choice between telling a damaging truth: al Qaeda is becoming dominant in Libya due directly to the actions of this bunch of clowns in the White House; or telling a lie that pleased the media and Obama’s base on the left: that some crazy Christo-fascist had incensed the normally pacific, though heavily armed, Libyan people into taking mob action. This regime, who’s best friend has always been the Big Lie, responded true to character. Christians and that silly First Amendment thing were to blame.

Douthat tries way too hard to find come way to mitigate the unconscionable acts of the Obama White House in setting the Benghazi tragedy into motion and then covering it up. He wouldn’t have had to try quite as hard to tell the real reason though his column would have been much shorter.

    Comments:

Only at the NYT could this be a mystery. Now that we know CIA ,State and the regime all viewed the entire assassination in living color, in real time, its even more a a huge lie than it was at the start. I guess its all these clowns have left. To lie.

I’m watching David Axelrod on Fox News Sunday, desperately attempting to prevaricate, change the arguments, beg and divide the questions, make argumentums ad nauseum, and otherwise try to put lipstick on the squealing greased pig that represents his idol’s declining reelection chances, before that porker finally slips from his grasp. I can honestly say that Axelrod’s spinning has finally joined his administration’s other malfunctions on its list of Epic Fails.

  158. Everyday dems reveal themselves to be stupider. Jennifer Granholm, a complete idiot.

  159. The jerk throws the State dept i.e. Hillary under the bus. And Bill Clinton still is going around campaigning for this PO$.

  160. So looks like the Big media is not going to cooperate with the State department in holding Obama and his WH accountable for the cover up, even if Hillary and her people want to tell the people what happened in Benghazi. How many people know about that conference call from the State? All they hear about is this Hitler-Moustache clown lying and throwing Hillary under the bus.

  161. I think Hillary should quietly leak the evidence that Obama knew about the security requests and the intelligence community should leak what they told the WH before the video fairytale was used. That is the only way Hillary can regain her credibility.

  162. This article is with reference to Stacy Dash.
Sooo, blacks voting for romney are now considered racist, even if they supported Oturd in the past, Baba Walters actually said ““If she were white, this wouldn’t have happened.”

  163. I hope she does that and that would be the best October surprise. Third debate is about foreign policy. Next week after the debate will the perfect time. If the debate went well for Obama, it will deflate him and if it went bad, it will be the end of his campaign. Maybe the State is watching how far the WH will take this and the first salvo was the conference call.

  164. I’ve read article that OTurd is going to go after Romney for Bain, what exactly is the Turd going to say? you outsourced jobs? well romney created man thousands more here, staples, sports authority, etc.

Plus he’s going to look like some street thug in front of a live audience who isn’t his campaign drones.

Candy Crowley is clearly an Obot, she really won’t try to be fair, but its very hard to take a ? from the audience and then bash Romney with it. That pivot is very hard without looking like a street bully.

  165. and the OTurd is now blaming the State dept, well isn’t that dept part of the OTurd administration? and isn’t OTurd the head of the OTurd administration??

  166. Jesus. You hear this same clap trap from all these rodents. Cutter, Deadbolt, and now Axelgrease. In a loud plaintiff voice looking directly into the camera–don’t ever fall for the old saw that a liar cannot look you in the eye, they say some variation of the following:

“Nobody on the planet, nobody in the solar system, nobody in the entire universe, animal, vegetable, mineral, alien, matter or anti-matter is, was, or will EVAH be is more concerned, more focused and more devoted to the safety security and well being of our embassy personnel than our great president. He takes this all very personally, and is committed to bringing the evil doers to justice. And no one who is not a racist and can stand to see a black man in the white house should doubt his bona fides–just because he i) missed 59% of the intelligence briefings, ii) is 100% invested in his re-election, which leaves no time for running the country, much less keeping an eye on foreign policy, and iii)requests for troops would have contradicted his convention and post convention narrative that Osama is dead and al Quaeda is on the run, thanks to the great Obama.”

  167. Candy Crowley is clearly an Obot, she really won’t try to be fair.
    ———————–
Maybe not. But if she is not, she and her employer are taking a big gamble. If they trash Romney and he goes on to win, then they will lose access, influence, and in due course viewers. The less viewers, the less revenue, and the less revenue the less job security. CNN is losing out to FOX big time, and the very thought of eight years in the wilderness could have a sobering effect. If I were her boss, that is what I would be telling that blimp.

Grandholm is Edith Bunker. The thrust of her defense rests on the distinction between a compound and an embassy. In other words, because the request was made on behalf of an Embassy, Obama is not responsible for the attack upon a consellate? Good luck with that one. Obama is responsible for the security of diplomatic personnel throughout the country. The ambassador believed he was a target. Therefore, additional security was requested. When he moved from Tripoli to Bengazi, and conducted his affairs as ambassador, including but not limited to meeting with the a Turkish leader shortly before the attack, the threat moved with him. And so did the need for security. The request was denied. And that is why he is dead. Edith’s explanation makes even less sense than those that preceded it. When Biden said the did not know about it, that much is probably true. Biden don’t know nothing.

  171. What we are seeing now is what is sometimes called the smorgusboard theory of defenses. How about this defense? Oh, that doesn’t work, then how about this one? Don’t like that either, well I have another defense, and another, and another. Looks desperate, as opposed to persuasive.

That said, it is hard to deny that Biden and then Carney threw Bill’s wife under the bus. That is the critical factor. It takes the issue beyond the limits of business as usual, hurt feelings, and the like. It is an existential threat for the Clintons and the legacy they hope to establish.

No doubt about that. Any respect I had for Biden’s service was burried under the rubble that is this WH, but absent Chelsea directly telling her folks ‘I want to run for office later in life,’ I have to assume that your conclusion, while DEFINATELY an option, is still just an option. A look at their lives and professional careers would suggest that they create options for themselves even when there are none. As such, the REAL 12 dimensional chess players would certainly be thinking short-term protection and defense followed by medium to long term offensive
    strategy.

I could not reach that conclusion if I believed that the Hillary I see today is the same Hillary I saw during the 2008 campaign. Much has changed, and this is often what happens when people decide to make accomodations in order to preserve power.

Truer words could not have been spoken. Here again, however, I will fall back on her reasoning. She is flat out tired. Its highly doubtful that she has lost the passion that has driven her this many years. But the loss of the primary in 2008, seeing her party and country being destroyed by this cabal in the WH, and the issues the world community faces daily along with the energy and passion that has made her the most travelled SOS in history wore her out. Bill wasn’t the spryest chicken in 2000 when he left office either. She says she is tired. I am going to take her at her word.

I would like you to chew on a radical idea. I really don’t have proof of this wild speculation, but we are talking about the real chess players. Could a party change be on the horizon for the Clintons’?

  174. Tim, Elija Cummings is slow, stupid and straight party line, at the expense of the country. He is about as interesting to me as a block toilet is to a plumber.

  175. mcnorman, I have not seen the State department yet say that the WH knew about requests for more security in Benghazi. The conference call was about the earlier video story cover-up. Biden in the debate said he and the WH didn’t know about requests for more security in Benghazi. So I want Hillary to come back with proof to show they did — I am sure she has it and more. I want her to leak the Obama Libya strategy.

  176. It is amazing to me that they have Axelrod go on these shows. He comes across as shifty evasive and non responsive to questions. He comes across as a cheap opportunistic liar. He does not do the campaign any good. He is a poor spokesman. These back room guys like him should stay in the back room.

  178. OHIO COAL MINERS CONDEMN OBAMA’S ‘ABSOLUTE LIES’ AND SHERROD BROWN, TOO

    http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/10/14/Ohio-Coal-miners-condemn-Obama

The coal miners of Ohio, unlike some workers who are intimidated by their unions, are unafraid of standing tall and confronting the Obama Administration head-on. Last Wednesday, more than 500 coal miners who work at the Beallsville, Ohio Century Mine, operated by Murray Energy, held a rally to condemn the Obama Administration’s despicable ad claiming the miners were coerced into attending a rally for Mitt Romney on August 14. They also charged Obama with waging a war on coal.
The Obama campaign had seized on rumors started by a local shock jock, David Bloomquist, who claimed the miners had been forced to attend the Romney rally. Mitch Miracle, speaking for the miners, read aloud the two letters they had written and signed.
The letter to Obama read like this:
    Dear President Obama:.
We are writing as the employees of American Energy Century Mine in Beallsville, Ohio. You have approved in a running television campaign ads about the Mitt Romney event that was held at our Century coal mine. These ads state that we were forced to attend this rally and that is blatantly false. There are numerous false statements and absolute lies concerning our participation in this event, we, the employees, mostly started by a local shock jock host. Since your approval is attached to these ads, you may not wish to support these mistruths. Why would you lie about the 500 working miners who have signed this letter? We, the employees of Century Mine, would request you immediately stop these false ads. Thank you. Century Mine employees.
    The letter to Bloomquist read:
    Mr. Bloomquist;
We are writing to you regarding the Governor Mitt Romney event held on August 14, 2012 at the American Energy Corporation Century mine, and additionally what it meant to the hourly employees to host a presidential candidate that we believe in and endorse. We voluntarily and enthusiastically attended the event and take great offense to the disingenuous reporting of the event by you and other media outlets.
There are 5 points in particular that I want to make here: the following are a list of facts about the hourly employees’ involvement at that event and the corrections to the media’s inaccurate reporting:
One: we want to make it very clear that no employee was forced to attend the event. Secondly, there were no attendance records taken for hourly employees. Number three, there are absolutely no penalties or reprimands to those who did not attend- we voluntarily attended. Number 4, due to security reasons, the only list involved whatsoever was for transportation purposes, and this was thoroughly explained to us; this had to be done by the advance team of Mr. Romney. They had to have records of who was coming on the property. Number 5; it was an honor to host this important event for Governor Romney.
Your so-called sources have made accusations against our company yet remain unnamed. We have proudly signed our names to this statement. These so-called sources are likely discharged or disgruntled former employees. This was a great day, for the employees of American energy, and your negative one-sided reporting has created a disservice to our company and to us, the employees.
You see, Mr. Bloomquist, there is a war on coal and we do want to protect our jobs. Mining jobs are being eliminated and coal fired power plants are being shut down from the President Obama’s actions and policies. We, the undersigned, support Governor Romney and reject President Obama and those like Sherrod Brown who are job killers. In summary, we, the employees of AEC, these great men behind me, our spouses, our children, our parents and our grandparents thoroughly enjoyed this event, a once in a lifetime event, right here, in the Ohio Valley. This is our statement, our choices, and our signatures. Mr. Bloomquist, your shock-jock tactics offend the undersigned, and I have attached our employees and our signatures.
    Miracle eloquently concluded:
In closing, standing behind me are proud Americans, proud coal miners proud citizens of this great country, proud members of the Ohio Valley, where we live in and I am damn proud of them. Proud Ohio Valley workers. As you all know the economy has been tough for all of us; this is a great profession, these are great workers and we are proud to be a part of it, part of Murray Energy and we support our owner 100 percent. We ask that the media, let’s embrace coal, embrace what it does for all of us. Let’s be together in what we do.
You don’t have to be a coal miner to stand up and cheer for these men fighting for the truth. You just have to be a real American.

  179. So much for tolerance. The CEO has every right to express his views, he nor is the company discriminating against employees who are gay or customers who are gay. If customers want to boycott the restaurant they have every right to, what they don’t have a right to is use their official powers granted by their positions of power to bully the company because the disagree with the CEO’s point of view. Don’t like the restaurant? Fine don’t eat there, but don’t ban it!

Hezbollah’s CFO flees to Israel carrying stolen money, classified documents

    By Al Arabiya

Hezbollah’s CFO has fled to Israel taking with him large sum of stolen money, classified documents and maps, local news media reported on Friday.

The news website, Now Lebanon, cited Hezbollah officials saying that the 29-year old telecommunication engineer, Hussein Fahs, has crossed to Israel carrying with him $5 million in embezzled money from the group. Fahs is also head of Hezbollah’s operational communications network.

In September, Fahs, who is native of southern Lebanon, was arrested along with other four Hezbollah members over the suspicion of embezzling the group’s funds and collaborating with Israel, Yoni Alpert’s Terror Watch reported.

The operation to arrest the five was a collaborative one between Hezbollah and Iranian intelligence. Hezbollah, which has long been a staunch ally to both Iran and Syria, officially became part of the Lebanese government in 2011.

According to Al-Joumhouria newspaper, he was arrested while on his way to an unknown destination by 20 Iranian intelligence officers at Beirut’s Hariri Airport. At the time it was suspected that they stole at least $5 million in Iranian aid funds.

Cases of Lebanese nationals collaborating and spying for Israel are not new.

On Tuesday, Imad al-Zein, a Lebanese Military Tribunal Judge, issued eight arrest warrants against Lebanese citizens charged of collaborating with Israel, Lebanon’s National News Agency reported.

The eight arrested include seven women and one man and were all charged in absentia. They were also natives of southern Lebanon, a region known for being a Hezbollah stronghold.

Since 2009, Lebanon has arrested more than 100 people on suspicion of spying for Israeli intelligence, including high-ranking security and telecommunication officials, Nahar Net said.

    ———————————–
Happy birthday. Big media scored the debate a tie, but claimed Biden was more substantive. Within 24 hours, it was pointed out that most of the substance he gave us, which they lauded him for, was lies. Nevertheless, they stand by their initial assessmnet. Roughly 90% of the women who watched the debate were turned off by Bidens behavior, the condescending laughter. The debate was scored by CNN 48-44 for Ryan. Romeny is now 2 points ahead in Gallup, which is significant because they have increased non-whites in their sample group by 20% in response to Axelgrease thuggery. As the Administration scrambles to correct the lies and misstatements of Biden, while praising him at the same time, it is struggling to come up with a coherent consistent narrative. Biden, Carney and the White House are trying to throw Hillary under the bus, while Republicans are praising her work as SOS, because they know the target here is Obama. Rupert Murdock is suggesting a doomsday scenario for Israel if Obama is re elected. Senator Lieberman and Collins are calling a hearing next week on Lybia, over the deranged objections fo Reid, a corrupt machine politian with absolutely no scruples. Big media hates to cover this but has to cover it. FOX got a whopping 47% of the total viewer audience of the vice presidential debate, and a friend of mine who is a media expert claims that the ground is moving under the Obama administration, and CNN is on the story. They said that if Obama does not win the next debate, he is likely to lose the election. As Confuscius said, we are cursed with living in interesting times, and then some. Woodward says Obama blew it on Lybia unless you look at it in a political context. Axelrod claims Obama could not act on what he did not know, but that is false. As commander in chief it was his responsiblity to know. Everyone is missing the point that the State Department has no authority to order the military to do anything. Otherwise you could have a sos declaring war.

  184. What the hell did this WH do to Woodward? He was on Fox shows bad mouthing Obama. Saw him take Obama on Wallace a while ago.

  185. mcnorman, yeah, there are too many who smell blood and rightfully so. Wallace’s panel was tough with big stars from Brit Hume to Woodward to Ingraham. They were trying not to seem ganging up on Zeleny who was tongue tied.

  186. Happy belated birthday jbstonesfan.

pm317, woodward is trying to sell his book, no MSM, which are obots will let him bad mouth their Messiah, so woodward is therefore now on Fox. If he praises, excuses for OTurd and acts like a good little obot drone, he will be welcome back on all MSM shows with open arms.

  187. Here is a lot of info from Sunday shows that has come out in the last few days about what WH knew within 24 hours of Benghazi attack:

    http://althouse.blogspot.com/2012/10/after-benghazi-attack-were-going.html

    {Read the whole thing.}
The security request seems to have gone all the way to the WH, and why wouldn’t it? Hillary, leak the damn thing, will you?

And what did Obama do within 24 hours?

WOODWARD: There are lots of unanswered questions. And I love documents, and they released some documents in this, and if you go and look at the original request for more security, they say our policy, our goal here is to shift from an emergency footing to normalize the security relationship.

Now, this is in March, six, seven months ago. Anyone looking at that what say, wait a minute, read the document in which they say, oh, the situation is incredibly unstable. Well, why are you trying to normalize your security in a situation that’s visibly unstable? You even acknowledge that.

So you’ve got a bad policy. And anyone looking at that would say, wait a minute; we are screwed up; we can’t normalize here.
So that’s the first problem. The second problem is, as soon as an ambassador is killed, the president should be more proactive and be out there. He can go, you know, five minutes in the White House briefing room and say this is really serious; we’re going to get to the bottom of it; we don’t have the answers. And all of this could have been nipped in the bud and it was not.

I noticed Woodwards’s been all over FOX lately too.

And it was delicious seeing the panel pummel the NYT guy.

  189. Woodward on Chris Wallace today. Wallace starts by saying, “Bob, since you broke the Watergate scandal . . .”

  190. If FOX were on the ball, then they would make a list of all the lies Biden told during the debate, which the Obama campaign is trying to quietly walk back. Each of those lies should be thoughly vetted, proven wrong, and used to show that contrary to the big media narrative, Biden was not more substantive than Ryan, he was just a serial liar. But FOX is basking in their 47% market share right now, and do not want to be excluded from White House press conferences like they were last week. Therefore, they are doing an O’Reilly–wanting to appear fair and balanced. They bring on Axelrod, and let him filibuster. What they should have done is cross examined him on each of those lies. Wallace is not their best. Brent Baier and Brit Hume are superior in my judgment.

  191. Preview of Presidential Town Hall Debate

The debate Tuesday night is a “town hall” style.

While the prevailing wisdom is that this will help Obama, I’m not so sure. While it will give Obama the chance to give hope and change type mini-speeches, it also gives Romney the chance to push the American capitalism versus European nanny government theme. Romney has been quite good on the stump speaking of American exceptionalism and the freedom and free enterprise society.

Obama reportedly also is planning an assault on Romney’s Bain background, but I predict a backfire. Romney will have the chance to explain to the nation without media filter his side of the Bain story. Romney will frame the issue as one of the private sector versus “trickle down government.” It puts Solyndra in focus.

At the Town Hall debate in 2008, Obama did okay, but I wouldn’t call it a home run. Polling showed Obama won, but not overwhelmingly. Even the MSNBC commentators in 2008, while obviously siding with Obama, were not gushing, and focused on McCain’s alleged errors during the debate.

The full 2008 Town Hall Debate is here. Here are some excerpts:

  192. Administration plays confusing blame game with Libyan attacks

    Libyan attack
    October 14, 2012
    By: Anthony Martin

A confusing array of contradictions concerning the murders of four Americans, one of which was a U.S. ambassador, was made worse by Vice President Joe Biden’s remarks during the debate with Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan Thursday evening.

Today the confusion only worsened yet again when Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told reporters that her agency was not the source of misinformation concerning the attacks, charging instead that the White House was the source of the false mantra that the murders were spurred by an anti-Muslim film made in the United States.

Clinton told reporters that when Susan Rice, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, made her rounds on every Sunday morning news show to claim the film motivated the attacks, the information had been fed to her by the White House and not the intelligence community in the State Department or the CIA.

Not only does Clinton’s statement contradict early White House accounts but directly contradicts statements made by Vice President Biden during the debate.

Biden claimed that the White House had only repeated the information provided by the intelligence community and that no one had been informed of the facts concerning the nature of the attacks and their connection to al Qaeda terrorism.

The claims of Biden are further debunked by the testimony of State Department officials before Congress, who stated that the situation on the ground in Libya had been monitored in real time and that no protests against the film had been noted prior to the assassinations.

In addition, State Department officials state that U.S. ambassadors are appointed by and operate under the jurisdiction of the White House, not the State Department. For the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations to go on national television to claim that the attacks were motivated by Muslim outrage over a film is a direct indication that the White House itself is the source of the false mantra that the film led to the assassinations

If Obama manages to steal this election, there will be nuclear war in the middle east.

And Biden will still be laughing.

  195. This is incredible. Not only he did not appear in the press briefing room like Woodward said he should have, he didn’t even meet with his security council before jetting off to LV for the fundraiser.

    http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/330367/axelrod-refuses-say-whether-obama-met-natl-security-team-heading-las-vegas-eliana-john

Chris Wallace asked how soon after the Benghazi attacks the President actually met with his national security team.

Wallace followed up on Axelrod’s non-answer by asking whether the President managed to squeeze in a meeting with the National Security Council before jetting off to Las Vegas for a campaign rally. Given Axelrod’s inability to produce a straightforward answer to the questions, it’s pretty clear the answer is “no.”

  196. Wow!

We now have the answer to the questions posed by Mickey Kaus on what Hillary will do, not that Biden and Obama have thrown her under the bus: Will Hillary now retaliate and protect herself by leaking word that the White House did too know? Will her husband continue to tour the country trying to pull Obama’s bacon out of the fire (as he did at the convention) even as Obama points a finger at his wife? Will they all cut some sort of deal in which Hillary agrees to take the fall and Bill soldiers on … in exchange for, what? Have they already cut a deal? Is the White Housegoing to try to hang its hat on the idea that Obama and Biden didn’t know, but maybe their staffs knew? Will that really fly? Aren’t they responsible for their staffs? Will the staffs fight back? …

The author of the above article calls this “confusing”??? Seems pretty clear to me. The White House was told and the White House (along with their big media allies) knowingly misled the American People. Does anyone care? Or will the hope and change bamboozle the electorate again. Will they say, as the ignorant always do, hell it is all just politics. I am voting for Obama cause he’s gonna give me more swag. Don’t bother me with the facts. They make my head hurt.

  197. This poster from NQ hits the nail on the head IMHO.

    retire05

What was Chris Stevens doing in Benghazi, the biggest hot spot in Libya, on the anniversary of 9-11, a day that has special meaning to jihadists?

It has been told that Stevens was trying to make a deal for weapons retrieval. Now, we know that Obama approved of the arms being supplied to the Libyan rebels by Egypt and France but why would Stevens be trying to retrieve any arms if they were not provided by the U.S.?

Was the cover up to try to prevent the American people from learning that WE, the U.S. provided arms/weapons to the Libyan rebels and that we have now learned those rebels were active AQ members?

This is a huge shell game. Look over here, at the failure of State, but not over here at the involvement of the Oval Office. And while your above report is great, and puts new light on disasterous actions by the Administration, you need to dig deeper. There is more to this than meets the eye, and it all goes back to my original question; what was so important that Stevens had to be in Benghazi on 9-11?

  198. Can you imagine what four more years of this will be like? Will people pay their taxes on April 15, if he steals this election?

The answer may be found in his diary. If he confided his fears about being a target in that book, then it may well be that the clues and answers to your questions are there as well, unless big media destroys it or hides it from public view. CNN is capable of this, if it means saving Obama. But maybe not this time, for the reasons discussed above.

  202. Rice answers to the POS, not the SD. The POS made a change in the pecking order soon after he took office. POS!

And we all know Rice hates HRC.

  203. The Caliphate is materializing before our eyes. That will be Obama’s next billet. Sharia law for all. Only a racist would disagree.

  204. That comment by NQ commenter suggests that Amb Stevens may have even been lured to Benghazi on that fateful day/night (because of this arms recovery thing). If that is the case WH is neck deep in all of this.

  205. I bet the Kos Kiddies are having a ball over this. It is all Romney’s fault you see. That is Axelrod’s position and he called Romney craven.

  206. It is not just the arms deal. He also met with the Turkish official there. It would be interesting to know what that was about. I hope Larry realizes that al Quaeda is still a potent force. A year ago he was claiming that their numbers were small, and they were being used as a pretext for military action. Looks like a bit more than that now.

He is memorizing his lines for the debate, and trying to negotiate a change in rules which would establish a level playing field, by allowing him to bring his telepromter. NBC and ABC are all for it. It is racist not to allow Obama to bring telebama with him.

  208. My guess is Stevens was doing what Ollie did for Reagan–arranging for the transfer of guns to the Libyan rebels to overthrow Assad in Syria. The problem is those guns will be turned on US troops just as the ff guns were turned on Border Agent Terry. Anytime you get the spooks involved in something it takes dysfunctional turns like this. Maybe not every time, but often enough. And poor innocent Bambi is being blamed for this when all he ever wanted was to bring hope and change so the meek could inherit the earth, and his bundlers could inherit the US Treasury.

Therefore, I must rely on the people I appoint to do their jobs, and when they do not I am . . . ah . . . er disappointed. But I am a cool cat and I leave it to others to chop off their heads. My time is best spent kibutzing with the goils on the View and hob nobbing with the dumbest comedian on television David Letterman who presumed to correct me for not calling Mohammed “The Prophet”. But I got even with him. I left that dumb lummox holding the bag when I told the fib that the video caused the attack. My god how I love to lie to people.

Nobody has been able to explain the lack of White House response to an attack that went on for at least six hours.
