Choking The Chicken – The Totalitarian Left Filets Itself

Pardon the vulgar euphemism. We don’t quite know what else to write when the story of the week is a confluence of purported gay outrage, a poultry franchise, and assorted cockerel left wing public officials preening and crowing like third world totalitarians.

As supporters of gay marriage it is excruciating to watch as the modern DailyKooks left continues to expose itself as the monsters they are. Is it really possible that with all the bad economic news the DailyKooks left and certain totalitarian gay Americans will stage a “kiss-in” at Chick-fil-A tomorrow? Instead of fighting on economic issues and the disaster Obama economy that Obama has made worse, they’re busy choking the chicken-fil-A. Sad but true.

Of course there is some justification for choking this particular chicken. After all, the evil owner of said restaurant chain opposes gay marriage. Here, have a listen/look at his evil remarks and how he uses antiquated religious beliefs as justification – the monster!:

Oops, excuse us, that’s Barack Obama talking about the “sacred union” of marriage. That’s Barack Obama discussing in Biblical terms why he opposes gay marriage and why he believes marriage is between a man and a woman.

We must have missed the protesting kiss-in disruptions at Obama headquarters from the totalitarian left outraged at invocations of scripture on a public policy matter.

We also must have missed the disruptive protests as Barack Obama and his monstrous campaign apparatus spent great sums of money in 2008 to promote anti-gay African-Americans such as Donnie McClurkin, Mary Mary, Hezekiah Walker and Reverend James Meeks as they displayed themselves on behalf of Barack Obama. But that was when Obama needed black votes more than gay money.

Now of course Barack Obama needs gay money more than the slavish dedication of black voters so he has revolved 180 degrees. It’s all about the gay money this cycle – the Bible along with America, be damned.

The contemporary left of Barack Obama DailyKooks and assorted gay marriage supporters appear not to understand the dangerous, unconstitutional horror of elected officials such as the ballet dancing thug from Chicago and the daft mayor of Boston declaring a jihad against free expression backed by the full coercive power of the state. Well that’s not entirely true, the Barack Obama DailyKooks do indeed understand what they do but like flowers twisting to the sun their tropism is towards totalitarianism. It’s the dictatorship of the proletariat with the DailyKooks hallucinating themselves as the vanguard of the proletariat.

We well know these thugs. We’ve written about this Stalinist Left before:

Because we were the first Hillary supporting website and one that unashamedly called out Barack Obama and the Nutroots for their ugly tactics we were subjected to ceaseless attempts to destroy us.

Barack Obama supporters would attempt to post comments with a few sentences lavishing praise on Hillary Clinton and then immediately launch into racist attacks against Barack Obama. The “N” word was often and repeatedly used. We traced the writers of these comments to Nutroot sites and “gamer” sites who openly called on their cabals to “expose” us as “racists” by they themselves posting racist comments of the ugliest sort.

It was not just these Nutroot sites that indulged in unethical methods. One “news” website (yes we mean Politico) sent “infections” to us via email. Donna Brazile publicly declared that she was calling Hillary Clinton to complain about us and shut us down. Donna, in full nut mode even resorted to “I believe the vast right wing is also behind these rants.” Donna also declared Hillary unfit to be president because “no one who provoke [sic] this kind of anger in voters deserves to be President.” No word these days from Brazile regarding the anger stirred by Barack Obama.

On Nutroot website after website, calls were made to demand Hillary shut us down. Hillary’s campaign responded with a defense of free speech. [snip]

All these tactics were mean to suppress information. Voters who sought information were deprived of that information by these Stalinists of the Dimocratic Left. Critical stories about the dubious histories of Nutroots leaders leaders were likewise suppressed. One blogger who engaged in “hump and dump” stock schemes was protected by the Nutroots cabal and we have yet to hear that story fully aired, even though we were always assured that the facts would someday be released by these Stalinists.

What these B.O.T.s have always engaged in is suppression of speech and attempts to distort the truth and rewrite history. These Stalinist B.O.T.s never cared about issues, it has always been a cult of personality with them. [snip]

Many pro-Hillary websites hosted by Google Blogger were shut down by Obama B.O.T.s.

We have repeatedly warned Sarah Palin supporters and indeed, back in 2009 we warned John McCain supporters, that the tactics employed by these Stalinist Obama thugs would be turned on them. We were correct on that and now there is proof.

Today Michelle Malkin (we never thought we would quote her with anything approaching praise, but she deserves it here) published an “illustrated guide to the Tea Party saboteurs” which recalls to a “T” the race-baiting tactics deployed against us and other Hillary supporting websites:”

First they came for Hillary Clinton supporters, then for Sarah Palin and her supporters, now they come for the chickens. No one is safe. No chicken will be left unplucked.

The totalitarian Barack Obama left did not molest their golden calf with protests. They will terrorize Chick-fil-A because, they say, that organization spends money from super secret accounts to deprive gay marriage supporters of gay marriage. But what about tax exempt black churches that spend money to attack gay marriage and speak out on public policy from the pulpit?????

The totalitarian left has never taken on the black church. Why are there no kiss-ins at black churches? Act-Up gay activists once entered St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York to disrupt the Mass so why don’t gay activists and gay marriage supporters go to the source of opposition to gay marriage – the black church:

“Only now are white liberals beginning to see an ugly side of the African-American church. But these white liberals still will not see let alone condemn how Obama exploited anti-gay prejudice. These white liberals will make excuses for the ugliness in the same way they excused the ugliness of Jeremiah Wright’s “God Damn America” remarks. The Democratic Left has a soft bigotry towards African-Americans even if that bigotry sacrifices the rights and self-respect of African-American-Gay-Americans.

THE attitude of white, liberal Hollywood toward African- American churches has long been one of almost participatory respect. [snip]

It was only recently that the A-list discovered that this love is unrequited. Last month, Proposition 8 passed, making gay marriage illegal in California, and the demographic that lent insult to injury was the state’s African-American voters.

They came to the polls in record numbers to support Barack Obama, and they brought with them a fiercely held and enduring antipathy toward homosexuality: 7 in 10 blacks voted in support of traditional marriage. Whether that was the game-changer or not is a question for near-constant debate. Many gay activists have begun quietly to suggest that had Hillary Clinton been the Democratic nominee, Prop 8 would not have passed.

Hypocrites and fools. The problem is not the black church it is how Obama exploited for his political benefit African-American anti-gay prejudice while making a show at white liberal venues of his tolerance. It was a flim-flam performance and the Democratic Left ignored it. Now Gay-Americans, including Black Gay-Americans, are paying for the Obama exploited bigotry.

“It’s their churches,” somebody whispered to one of us not long after the election; “It’s their Christianity,” someone else hissed, rolling her eyes. Apparently the religion espoused by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is now the enemy, at least among the smart set, and if this sounds like a regional issue, it’s not. [snip]

“At some point in our lifetime,” said George Clooney, “gay marriage won’t be an issue, and everyone who stood against this civil right will look as outdated as George Wallace standing on the school steps keeping James Hood from entering the University of Alabama because he was black.”

To the opponents of Proposition 8, this kind of analogy is a rallying cry; but as white Hollywood has recently discovered, to the blacks who voted for the measure, it’s galling. Comparing the infringement on civil rights that gays are experiencing to that suffered by black Americans is to begin a game of “top my oppression” that you’re not going to win. The struggle for equality — beginning with freedom from human bondage (see: references to the book of Exodus at the Gospel Brunch) — has been so central to African-American identity that many blacks find homosexual claims of a commensurate level of injustice frivolous, and even offensive.

Furthermore — and perhaps even more painfully for those of us who support gay marriage and all that it represents — Christian teaching on marriage is not the only reason so many blacks supported Proposition 8. Although it has come as a shocking realization to many in this community, a host of sociological studies confirm that many blacks feel a significant aversion to homosexuality itself, finding it morally and sexually repugnant.

The black church won’t be targeted in the same way Chick-Fil-A has been abused by the totalitarian Barack Obama left. The tax exempt black church will be immune to the same outrages dumped on the chicken sandwich emporium.

Yesterday, there was a mass slaughter of our clucking feathered friends. Feathers flew through the air as savory fowl lost their lives then garnished with herbs, spices, and luscious sauces. It was a horror house of gluttony and unabashed appetite.

The demonstrations of opposition to state suppression of speech and support for Chick-Fil-A were all a bloody and silly exercise. But it had to be done. The threats and ugliness from the totalitarian left had to be resisted and repelled even if chickens had to die to make it safe for democracy.

While the Barack Obama totalitarian left was busy preparing for another distraction tomorrow from the economic disaster where was Mitt Romney? While chicken haters amassed in restaurant redoubts throughout the nation to satiate themselves and stand up for free speech and free expression, where was Mitt Romney?

Mitt Romney was focused but not on the masturbating monkeys of the Obama nothing-left-but-distractions. Mitt Romney was focused on what matters:

  1. What a brilliant post, admin!

And I had no idea of the extent to which His44was attacked in 2008. Congrats for the “testicular fortitude” in fighting off the enemy. I don’t know what many of us would do without this site.

  2. Earlier (last thread) I brought up the fact that Marco Rubio is not a natural born citizen. I got the impression that the bloggers here aren’t concerned about it. But others are concerned. Why else are these legal eagles coming out now and trying to pretend that anchor babies are natural born citizens? We know they are not. And the legal eagles know it too.

Lying to the voters is not the way to start a campaign!

I don’t know what I’ll do if Rubio is chosen, but there are lot of people who will vote 3rd party or just stay home. If you don’t believe that’s true, just look around on some of the other blogs and see what is being said. If Romney picks Rubio we are in for 4 more years of Barach Hussein.

  3. Backfire:

We are very grateful and humbled by the incredible turnout of loyal Chick-fil-A customers on August 1 at Chick-fil-A restaurants around the country. Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day was not a company promotion; it was initiated by others.

We congratulate local Chick-fil-A Owner/Operators and their team members for striving to serve each and every customer with genuine hospitality.

While we don’t release exact sales numbers, it was an unprecedented day.

The Chick-fil-A culture and 66-year-old service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect – regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender.

Our goal is simple: to serve great food, provide genuine hospitality and have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.

  4. I am not sure how I feel about this post. Part of me is in agreement, yet I don’t define religious principles based on Biblical teaching as anti-gay nor biased. I don’t see anything wrong with Christian churches, be they of the black or white versions, following their beliefs. After all they are not preaching that gays should be massacred, or gays should be denied employment, etc. They are defending what they believe the Bible indicates. Maybe they’re right, maybe they’re wrong, but holding their beliefs doesn’t qualify them as being biased, in my opinion.

Do not understand why people do this with no concept their job will toast them.

  6. Also, I don’t think that yesterdays Chick-fil-A appreciation day was “silly”. I think it was a great way to show one’s beliefs in a non-violent, and non-threatening way.

  7. I feel bad for the Chick-fil-A girl im the video. The girl appears to be an excellent employee representative, while the guy was such an arse. His gotcha moment came back to bite him, and he deserved to be dismissed.

  8. Choking chickens?

Holy smokes, I sure learn a lot on Big Pink. At first I thought the title was about killing chickens by swinging them around, holding onto their heads.

    :clutching pearls:

  9. Still reading admins post,

but it doesn’t surprise me that Barry is chasing gay men

(and women) after he has bled the AA community, the group with the highest unemployment can’t even afford to spend 3 bucks for dinner with BO or give away their wedding money to his campaign.

  10. nomobama,

I understand your dilemma. FWIW, while I am not religious and I have no problem with same sex civil unions I don’t think the term “marriage” should be extended to those unions because of the historical thousands of years definition of the word.

Marriage was devised as a way to tend to human offspring. It’s a consumation of a biological process which can’t be truly accomplished without both genders.

Sure, there is now surrogacy and invitro fertilization but that will never be a substitute for the actual act of procreation.

And since people put so much meaning into the term marriage and it is such a cornerstone of Judeo-Christian life I don’t see why gays insist on laying claim to the term if they have all the safeguards of partnership including inheritance, medical authority and property ownership.

I support recognizing civil unions as valid and legal. To go beyond that makes no sense other than satisfying a a vindictive adolescent desire to taunt a thousands of year old system.

As long as Christians do not seek to harm, annihilate, shun or destroy gay people for their sexual preferences I think everyone should call it a draw and go on with the business of living.

Were Christians once far more intolerant of gays? Of course. But things have changed. The same can’t be said of Islam which, as you know, believes in killing gays.

    Just my two cents.

  11. Great post admin.

That video of that poor young lady being harassed and verbally abused, and one thing I noticed in the video, the harasser says he’s straight, what difference would that make? Sounds like someone who has some inner predujuiced issues himself, what difference would it make if he was gay or straight, he verbally abused that young lady(who may be gay or straight herself), and what he did was very abusive to that young lady and wrong, very wrong. And sounds like an idiot, by bringing the camera to his face so that everyone can see who he was.

Reminds me of all these white liberal pundits, first to call everyone a racist, really makes me think how racist they are themselves, trying to hide it by calling everyone else a racist.

  12. Just saw Reid’s rant on the floor of the Senate, have these people lost their fking minds???

He’s making open baseless accusations against Romney, this party is something I can no longer defend, WHI is correct, these people have all gone the deep deep end. I honestly cannot see myself ever voting dem again in the state its in.

As for Sheldon Adelson, he got a full unequivicol apology from the DCCC, that is the only way these dem thugs will react, a lawsuit. They have no shame, no moral, nothing. Lawsuits is the only way to get them to have some fear of tearing down people, especially private citizens.

You and I hold very similar, if not the same, beliefs on this issue. I’ll add that anti-gay marriage does not mean anti-gay in general.

  16. Shadowfax, I have a friend who insists that many blacks who survive soley on the government dole are living quite well, including having checks totaling well over $50k per year, plus free phone service, and excellent home ownership loan deals, etc. I would really like to know what people, regardless of race, are obtaining through government programs. Americans should have the right to know.

  17. I’m still laughing about that idiot who harassed that poor CFA lady, he actually was stupid enough to put his face in the video.

And now that his employer has fired him, and he’s the CFO! that’s very high up, so who in their right minds would hire this jerk now??

  18. That was particularly stupid of him, Tim. It was also quite stupid to say “I’m really a nice guy”. Yeah, says who? And then say something like “I’m not gay. I don’t have a gay in me”. Well, I should hope not! I would have to conclude that you were gay then! LOL!

My gaydar says the guy was gay anyway.

  19. can i just cut to the chase and say that guy is a real ass…

he is typical of what we are dealing with…so smug…such a know it all who thinks he is so right and above it all…to condescend to the young innocent girl just trying to put in a day’s work…no respect for work or a job…

again with emphasis, this guy is a total ass…

  20. I’m still incensed about what Harry reid did, just who the hell does he think he is??? Floor of the Senate is for OFFICIAL govt business! Attacks Romney’s dead father, then says Romney didn’t pay taxes for 10 years, what the hell has happened to the dem party? Its like been taken over all these lunatics. I used to think it was the repub party, like with Tom Delay *shuddering* etc, but repubs seem much saner on most issues now, Ron Johnson, Rubio, etc etc.

  21. just had a thought…who is actually the ‘Wimp’? who needs all the msm and the polling companies to lie for him and protect the poor weak guy…and who needs legions of his supporters to reactively yell ‘racism, racism, racism’ the moment anyone dares say a critical word towards O…

I think we need an ad by the R camp or superpac…that shows all these layers and layers of PROTECTION around O…and then pulled away layer by layer and with the truth exposed and then we see the weak, hovering O behind the curtain all by himself with his lousy record of the last four years and all his corruption surrounding him…

not sure if this has been posted…

On what alternate universe will Democrats enjoy a D +19 turnout advantage over Republicans on election day? Well, that would be Planet Pew:

The latest national survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, conducted July 16-26, 2012, among 2,508 adults, including 1,956 registered voters, finds that, in keeping with his favorability advantage, Obama continues to hold a sizable lead over Romney in the election contest. Currently, 51% say they support Obama or lean toward him, while 41% support or lean toward Romney.

    Sample Size

    459 Republicans

    813 Democrats

    599 Independents

In the best election season Democrats have enjoyed since Nixon resigned, 2008, the Democrat advantage was only D+8, but Pew is now attempting to hustle us into believing the turnout this year is going to be D +19.

The internals make even less sense. According to the same Pew poll that has Obama up by 10 nationally, he’s only ahead by 4 in the in the swings states but he’s losing to Romney with independents 45-43%.

As if that doesn’t make Pew look ridiculous enough, The Economist released a new national poll today with a slightly less absurd sample of D +10, but they show Romney in the lead, 46-44%.

And this is the third intentionally skewed media-poll dropped on us in just a few days. Last week NBC dropped a D +11 and just a couple of days ago Quinnipiac and The New York Times dropped three swing state polls with absurdly skewed partisan samples. Both showed Obama in the lead and both allowed the media to give our failed president more than a few positive news-cycles and Romney all kinds of phony concern-trolling.

And yet, today, Rasmussen has Romney up two nationally and Gallup only has Romney behind by two. Rasmussen uses the tighter screen of likely voters and Gallup uses the led reliable screen of registered voters.

    I know who I believe.

Moreover, Gallup just released a survey that shows Democrat voter enthusiasm is at its lowest point in years and Republican enthusiasm is a full 12 points higher. But according to these whack jobs at Pew, Democrats will still almost triple their advantage in 2012.

    So what’s going on here?

    Well, it’s very simple.

This is nothing more than an act of intentional juicing to keep The Narrative alive that says Obama is winning and that Romney can’t get his act together. You see, it works like this…

The only way our failed president can win is if Romney is disqualified; if voters don’t see him as an acceptable alternative. So if the media and their pollsters can bedevil him with nonsense — fabricated gaffes, audacious lies, D +19 sample sizes — it keeps Romney on his heels, on defense, and smothers his ability to get his message out. In other words, it makes Romney look incompetent and if Romney looks incompetent, the American people won’t hire him no matter how much they want to fire Obama — and they are desperate to fire Obama, believe me.

The timing of this juiced poll is also likely not an accident. Tomorrow the July job numbers come out, so what better way to distract from what will likely be bad news for Obama than with an absurdly skewed poll that allows the corrupt media to squirrel! the job numbers and go right back to talking about Romney’s inability to run a competent campaign? A perfect pivot…

Gee, Andrea, with these lousy job numbers, Romney really should be ahead, but he just can’t get his act together.

My friend Guy Benson of Townhall made a great point during a segment we just finished recording for his Sunday radio show — that a heck of a lot more people are going to see and hear headlines that read “Obama Up By 10” than the analysis exposing the poll as a farce.

So beyond The Narrative-plus Obama wins in the media over the next few days, Pew’s cooking of the books also keeps Obama artificially ahead in the Real Clear Politics poll of polls, gives the media something to distract from tomorrow’s jobs numbers, and demoralizes Republicans unaware of the juiced internals.

    Win-win-win-win, baby!

There’s nothing Obama can’t accomplish with the Media-Poll Propaganda Machine dialed up to 10.

NOTE: I called and left a message to get a comment from Pew. As of this writing no one has called me back.

the romney camp and superpacs have to pushback on these lies…they can’t let it go with no response…they have to let people understand the inside game and the deceit going on…

  22. S, great link.

I had no idea, 19%+ dems?? What are these Pew people smoking?? Looks like they got some from Oturd. LOL!

I’m going to write Pew also, I didn’t realise they leaned this left.

  23. Larry Johnson’s take on the ripple effect of the CFA incident, which I happen to agree with.
This incident illustrates why Democrats, like Emmanuel, are so out of touch with mainstream America. Today is just one more shovel of dirt on the grave of Barack Obama’s dead and dying Presidency. Americans will tolerate alot, but they won’t stand for politicians who embrace the hatred of assholes like Farrakhan while condemning good men like Cathy, who puts his money where his mouth is and creates a business that employs people of all races and religions.

He opposes homosexual marriage. But he does not refuse to serve homosexuals. He does not refuse to employ homosexuals. And he does not try to silence homosexauls from speaking out about what they believe in. That’s America. Freedom.

I also agree with Admin’s point about the totalitarian nature of the hard left. The funny part of it is, if they got what they wanted, they would beg for the old system back. Orwell began his political life where they are, toiled in the vinyards of the totalitarians and came away chastened. For him, and others of his generation the left was a god that failed. But not for these so called progressives. Ironically, if they got what they wanted, they would be the first to go. Revolutions eat their children.

  24. Great article. Absolutely infuriating how Obama uses the race card as both a sword and shield for political gain.

  25. I didn’t realise they leaned this left
Tim, Tom Sowell wrote about this in Forbes Magazine in 1997:

“Biologists explain how organisms adopt to their physical environment, but ideologues adopt to their social environment. The most fundamental fact about the ideas of the political left is they do NOT work. Therefore, we should not be surprised to find the left concentrated in institutions where ideas do not have to work in order to survive. (snip) (Note: Pew is a perfect example of this).

People who live and work in a world where there is a business bottom line, an athletic scoreboard, a military battlefield, or life or death surgery may find it hard to appreciate the difference between that world, and one (like Pew) where the only decisive test is whether your colleagues like what you are saying. (snip)

Darwinian adoption applies not only to nature but to society. Just as you don’t find eagles living in the ocean, or fish living on mountain tops, you do not find leftists concentrated where their ideas have to stand the test of performance.”

Good point, jbs.. well put and exactly right. The all purpose race card. After seeing the e-mails I’ve been getting from Donna Brazile, I feel I need to take a shower. That woman is pure unmitigated filth! I unsubscribed my email address to the DNC because of her.

Thanks. I’ve been reading much of Dr. Sowell’s work lately. G I wish I had known about him even earlier.

  28. Tim: I highly recommend two of his books: 1) The Vision of the Annointed, and 2) Knowledge and Decisions.

  29. The Obama Ad Blitz Isn’t Working
Three months and $131 million in spending haven’t moved the president’s poll numbers.

“If you’ve got a business—you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”

Despite President Obama’s effort to walk back these remarks, the damage they’ve caused to him remains. And that’s because what he said in Roanoke, Va., on July 13 came across as a true expression of his worldview.

The president’s vivid words did not come out of nowhere. While pushing for higher taxes on upper-income people, Mr. Obama often refers to the wealthy as “fortunate” (such as at a Democratic National Committee event last September) and “incredibly blessed” (at a campaign event on July 23). Translation: Successful people don’t really deserve to keep what they earn.

“You didn’t build that” is not Mr. Obama’s only recent problematic statement. In a June 8 news conference, he said “The private sector is doing fine. Where we’re seeing weaknesses in our economy have to do with state and local government.” And in Oakland, Calif., on July 24, he told donors that on the economy, “We tried our plan and it worked!” These comments make voters wince.

Every candidate stumbles verbally, but in 2008 Mr. Obama did so less frequently than most. He was disciplined, on message, and gave his opponent few openings. So what is different this time?

One factor may be overscheduling. Mr. Obama has attended an extraordinary 195 fundraisers in the 16 months since he filed for re-election on April 4, 2011 (according to CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller). Many people don’t fully appreciate how much of a drain it is on a candidate—involving travel, a speech or two, private meetings with particularly energetic (or obnoxious) money bundlers, and always plenty of advice. Most fundraisers also include a long photo line where the candidate grips and grins for dozens, sometimes hundreds, of photographs.

I observed first-hand how difficult it was to wedge 86 fundraisers onto President George W. Bush’s calendar over the 14.5 months from May 16, 2003 (when he filed for re-election) through July 2004. In comparison, it is astonishing how much time Mr. Obama has spent scrabbling for cash.

    Defense-Spending Rift Intensifies
House Republicans clashed with President Barack Obama’s budget director over looming military spending cuts in an unusually combative hearing.

In short, the president may be nearly exhausted. If he is, the normal inner discipline that protects a candidate from saying too much, being too blunt, or sharing too openly may be weakening.

Despite the scramble for money, Mr. Obama’s campaign fundraising take is behind its 2008 pace, and its overhead is enormous (according to monthly FEC filings by his campaign and the Democratic National Committee). His cash advantage over Mr. Romney was probably gone as of July 31, in large measure because (according to public records at TV stations) Team Obama has spent at least $131 million on television the last three months.

These ads have not moved him up in the polls. The race is tied in the July 30 Gallup poll at 46%. Neither have the ads strengthened public approval of Mr. Obama’s handling of the economy, which is stuck at 44% in the July 22 NBC/WSJ poll, nor have they erased Mr. Romney’s seven-point lead in that poll regarding who has “good ideas for how to improve the economy.”

Roughly $111 million of Mr. Obama’s ad blitz was paid for by his campaign; outside groups chipped in just over $20 million. The Romney campaign spent only $42 million over the same period in response, with $107.4 million more in ads attacking Mr. Obama’s policies or boosting Mr. Romney coming from outside groups (with Crossroads GPS, a group I helped found, providing over half).

Mr. Obama’s strategists know they won in 2008 in large part by outspending their opponents in the primaries and general election. They’ve tried that with Mr. Romney the last three months, and so far it isn’t working. Still, just this week, according to public records, Team Obama has bought an additional $32 million in ads in nine battleground states for August.

Unanswered television ads do move poll numbers, as was the case in 2008. But these Obama ads won’t go unanswered.

The response by the Romney campaign and Romney supporters will be amplified by the reality of a painfully weak economy, growing debt and unpopular ObamaCare. More fundraisers will not solve that problem, but they will create opportunities for a weary candidate to make more revealing and damaging statements.

  30. How does a man like Harry Reid, 30 years in the congress, never really worked a real job, become a multi multi millionaire?
Harry reid has never released any of his tax records, how do we know he’s paid any taxes? He’s never released anything!

  31. Great article. Absolutely infuriating how Obama uses the race card as both a sword and shield for political gain.

At the emotional level, I agree with you. At the strategic level, it is a game of diminishing returns. Not a sparrow falls from the tree, but the dimocrats scream racism, ad infinitum, ad naueseum. If has become the predictable response to any criticism and the tip of the spear on any attack. But most people are wise to the game, and as Nietsche said if we make common currency out of virtue (or vice) we wear the gold off them. Four years ago the charge of racism sucked the oxygen out of the room. Today, it begets a yawn from most people and a Reaganesque response like “there you go again”.

  32. Based on Rove’s analysis, I recommend that Obama do so many fundraisers that people will remember the expression shop til you drop. In his case, run your mouth until you keel over in exhaustion and the truth slips out.

Mainstream Media Blacks Out Chick-fil-A Story?

Wednesday was Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, and Americans flocked to the fast food restaurant in response to criticism of COO Dan Cathy’s opposition to same-sex marriage (as well as threats from the mayors of some major cities). The photos of long lines and traffic jams reveal the extent of the restaurant’s support–for some it’s about traditional values and for others it’s about freedom of religious exercise and speech in the face of government intimidation. There are even rumors that Chick-fil-A set a new world record for sales in a single day, though the company has yet to release any sales numbers.

But you wouldn’t know anything about the national phenomenon by reading the front pages of most of the country’s leading newspapers. There’s no mention of Chick-fil-A on the front pages of the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, and the Boston Globe. The front pages of USA Today, the Dallas Morning News, and the Houston Chronicle have small headlines about the restaurant, while Chick-fil-A’s hometown paper, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, fits in a story below the fold under the heading, “Chick-fil-A Controversy.” And the front pages of major news websites are quiet in their coverage as well.

Inside some of those papers, the coverage is still relatively scant. The L.A. Times has a news story, while the New York Times has an op-ed from the gay dean at the Georgia Tech business school encouraging Americans to let Chick-fil-A “fly free.” The Washington Post ran a photograph, but no story.

The Newseum’s collection of the top ten newspaper covers from around the country seems to recognize the biggest national news story of the day. The papers covering the story aren’t just located in the South, Chick-fil-A’s regional base; smaller papers from Colorado, Ohio, New York, and California were all over the story.

  34. Anyone remember Peggy Noonan? She appears to no longer be supporting the golden calf and has stopped attacking us:

From a friend watching the Olympics: “How about that Michael Phelps? But let’s remember he didn’t win all those medals, someone else did. After all, he and I swam in public pools, built by state employees using tax dollars. He got training from the USOC, and ate food grown by the Department of Agriculture. He should play fair and share his medals with people like me, who can barely keep my head above water, let alone swim.”

The note was merry and ironic. And as the games progress, we’ll be hearing a lot more of this kind of thing, because President Obama’s comment—“You didn’t build that”—is the political gift that keeps on giving.

They are now the most famous words he has said in his presidency. And oh, how he wishes they weren’t.

There was lots of chatter this week about the decision to have Bill Clinton speak in prime time on the penultimate night of the Democratic Convention. Is it a sign of panic? Would the president give Big Dawg such a prominent spot if he wasn’t nervous? Does it gall him to ask for help from the guy who said of his 2008 candidacy, “This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I’ve ever seen”?

But all this kind of misses the point.

The central fact of Bill Clinton is that he is really good at politics. And he has every reason to want to give a really good speech—to show he’s still got it like nobody else, to demonstrate he’s still the most beloved figure in the party, to do his wife proud. And of course to rub Mr. Obama’s nose in it.

The central fact of the Obama campaign is that they have not yet made a case for re-election. They haven’t come up with a reasoned argument in common words that can be repeated by normal people. Ask an Obama supporter to boil it all down and he’ll flail around and then say: “But Romney is awful” or “The Republicans are bad.”

The White House and the campaign have not be able to make a case for their guy. They’re just trying to make a case against the other guy.

But Mr. Clinton might actually be able to make the case, and he just may do it by making a case for the Democratic Party.

No one has talked about the Democratic Party in a long time. Democrats don’t talk about it because they feel they’re on the run, and have brand problems. The president doesn’t talk about it either, which is remarkable. You’d think he’d want to rally the troops. But he doesn’t seem to love his party all that much.

Mr. Clinton does, though, and that ol’ man, with his white hair and reading glasses, can bring you back. He can ring. He can walk you back to FDR and JFK and Bobby, he can remind you why the party exists, what it’s done, what it has always meant to do.

Because he’s doing a favor, and because he’s now a wise man of the party, he could be more or less candid about the Democrats’ recent struggles and acknowledge a few things that haven’t fully worked. And then he could be delightfully mean: He could say: “Much holds us together, not only the past but our dreams of the future. And now those low, shadowy operatives, those bundlers and billionaires with their big PAC money—those cold scoundrels are trying to steer us off course. But you can’t make progress by going backward, you can’t move forward by taking U-turns.”

It could be a barn-burner. Love him or hate him, it could wake things up. Like there’s an election going on. Which, by the way, there is.

  35. Went to Chick-Fil-A today, and it still seemed busy. They had put on extra crew members, and they just seemed to be working their butts off. I told them, no one was going to tell me where I could eat, and that did not mean I did not support Gays, as I figured that they employed gays, and they were seving gays. They just smiled. I don’t think this has harmed their business.

  36. NewMexicoFan, ” I don’t think this has harmed their business.”

Everyone we have discussed this with had no idea of the existence of this chicken filet emporium. We certainly have never consumed any of their restaurant meals. Now just about everyone knows who they are (as long as they do not restrict themselves to Big Media “news” outlets). This has certainly not harmed their business.

  37. Does it gall him to ask for help from the guy who said of his 2008 candidacy, “This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I’ve ever seen”?

This is why Peggy Noonan, as a writer, is worth used toilet paper whther she is in the tank for Bumbles or not. He made that statement in reference to Bumbles claiming that he would close Guantanomo.

    Hillary 2012

Keep up the great work admin. You are truly in a league of your own.

  38. For those that want a good discussion on the polls, including reasons why the polls should be believed (smart Sean Trende weighs in on this side of the equation) in showing Obama ahead check out this article. We agree with Jay Cost on this.

    From Jay Cost, via HotAir:

It’s one thing to give pollsters a wide berth, but D+8 in Ohio [in the Quinnipiac poll] is absurd. My general rule of thumb is that the historical average over the last 25 years is D+3.5. The best for the GOP was in 2004 (when it was even) and the worst was 2008 (when it was D+7). Anything over D+7 is just not defensible.

And one of the points, too, is that there is a difference between methodological soundness and inference. You can dot all the I’s and cross all the T’s as a pollster, but if you get a D+9 sample in Ohio, I’m sorry, that does not lend itself to a valid inference about November.

In other words, you don’t have to go so far as to argue that pollsters should weight by party ID, but you should be aware of what the spreads are and be very skeptical of anybody going as far as Pew (!) or even those CBS/NYT/Q polls are.

    We report you decide/deride. 🙂

  39. Oh no, they just announced Gabby was African American. Really? And here I thought she was Chinese!

I want them to start saying, Phelps is Caucasian American.

  40. And that’s why I dislike the fact Bill will speak at the convention. It may help the Fraud. Otherwise, I could care less.

Could this be a Clinton trick of some sort? If only!

  41. [ Does it gall him to ask for help from the guy who said of his 2008 candidacy, “This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I’ve ever seen”? ]

Bill made that statement in reference to Bumbles claiming that he would close Guantanomo.

No, it was in reference to Obama’s claim to have opposed the Iraq war starting in 2002.

Bill’s remark has been quoted out of context and distorted many times. Just like Romney’s remarks and Hillary’s — and Obama’s “You didn’t build [THAT INFRASTRUCTURE}” and now some mayor’s statements that their people don’t want chick fil a, or CFA doesn’t belong in their town, etc. These are not threats of official action — they are being distorted and misquoted.

  42. More to chew on tonight:

First on CNN: Massive $77 million ad time buy for Obama

Washington (CNN) – The Obama campaign has taken the extraordinary step of booking $77 million in additional ad time starting Friday and running through Election Day, a Republican ad buying source told CNN.

The new buy is for thirty second broadcast TV spots that will run in eight battleground states.

Through Thursday Team Obama will have spent at least $106 million in general election ads – more than twice what the Mitt Romney campaign has bought. This buy will bring his total media purchase so far this cycle to almost $190 million.

However, GOP groups, such as American Crossroads and its affiliate Crossroads GPS and Restore Our Future, the super PAC backing Mitt Romney have helped to give Republicans an overall spending advantage in recent weeks for ad spending compared to the Obama re-election campaign and its supporters.

As the general election media war heats up – especially after the party conventions wrap up – this move will allow the re-election campaign to ensure it can place its commercials in these key battlegrounds although the move could take a major dent out of its bank account.

Voters in these battleground states have already complained they have been inundated with political commercials – which in recent months have been largely attack spots. However, from all indications that onslaught will continue. Republican-leaning groups are expected to spend around $1 billion in presidential and congressional races this election cycle with a majority of that money being devoted to ad spending, sources familiar with the groups have told CNN.

Team Obama had no comment on this latest buy.

Politico first reported earlier this week that Obama’s campaign was reserving ad time through Election Day.

Here is the breakdown of the new Obama buy:

    Colorado: $7,025,120
    Florida: $13,355,226
    Iowa: $7,315,224
    Nevada: $4,939,620
    New Hampshire: $4,939,620
    North Carolina: $7,647,844
    Ohio: $19,533,433
    Virginia: $11,582,494

  43. Dang Admin, where do you live? In Texas, we have one every mile and they actually are very good, real chicken.

Everyone we have discussed this with had no idea of the existence of this chicken filet emporium. We certainly have never consumed any of their restaurant meals. Now just about everyone knows who they are (as long as they do not restrict themselves to Big Media “news” outlets). This has certainly not harmed their business.

  44. total media purchase so far this cycle to almost $190 million.
In a futile effort to turn chicken shit into chicken salad. When market penetration becomes market saturation voter resentment tends to follow. By now, most voters have made up their minds, and Obama’s dismal record speaks for itself. When a strategy does not work, and you try it again and it still does not work as we see in the polls, prudence favors the adoption of a new strategy, whereas insanity insists on doing the same failed thing over and over and over expecting a different result. This is the strategy of Adolf Hitler–the big lie repeated over and over. See the Karl Rove article posted above.

Whatever it was in reference to, Noonan missed it in her article as she does many things.

    Hillary 2012

  46. Tried to go to CFA today but couldn’t wait the 45 minutes. I am running a bar in a small blue collar town and lots of talk. I am openly gay and it hasn’t been easy trying to get the word out that it is not a gay bar but a bar that treats all people with the dignity they deserve. C or N word gets you thrown out. Toughest job I’ve ever had but slowly the business is building. The clergy from the various faiths have even been in. Almost every customer has commented on the CFA issue and all express the same sentiments I am reading here.

  47. A speech is in fact just words, and words are no substitute for action. Noonan was a speech writer therefore she lives in that world–rather than the real world of high unemployment and a collapsing economy. Bill Clinton is a man of vision, words and action. But he has played no part in the formulation of the agenda, and everytime he expresses an independent view of a problem, the Obama team become apoplectic. If Bill were president, then the speech could galvanize the party and attract independents. But given the way he has been marginalized whatever he does say in this instance about why democrats should be re elected must be taken with a grain of salt. If he were president now, then it would be different. Precatory words cannot erase a track record of failure–the stakes are too high. The democrat party, as currently constituted is not worth saving. The Republican Party can be dealth with separately. If the democrats have abandoned their principles then that should be the end of it. None of this business of electing corrupt democrats to avoid Republicans. There are times when the cure is worse than the disease, and this happens to be one of them.

  48. Here is the breakdown of the new Obama buy:

    Colorado: $7,025,120
    Florida: $13,355,226
    Iowa: $7,315,224
    Nevada: $4,939,620
    New Hampshire: $4,939,620
    North Carolina: $7,647,844
    Ohio: $19,533,433
    Virginia: $11,582,494

Interesting that my state isn’t on the list. Romney and the SuperPacs are running ads like crazy in metro Detroit. (The rest of Michigan is pretty much a red state already.) I wonder if Obama has written us off like McCain did in 08?

  49. For those that want a good discussion on the polls, including reasons why the polls should be believed (smart Sean Trende weighs in on this side of the equation) in showing Obama ahead check out this article. We agree with Jay Cost on this.
I agree. I posted it here a week ago, and the article on the same subject by the rabbi a couple days ago. Jointly and severally, they provide a reality check on the nonsense we are being fed right now by guess who–big media.

  50. Hi Henry. There is so much pointing to an Obama loss in November. I think that the Chick-fil-A triumph yesterday is just another example of people ready, willing and able to send O amd MO back to Chicago. Obama can’t point to one valid example of a major accomplishment tha he can call his very own, no matter how many times he tries to claim someone else’s.

I hope your bar is successful. Are you the owner, or you the manager, or both?

Here is the breakdown of the new Obama buy:
    Pennsylvania missing as well.

If Romney selects Portman, the $20 mil Obama has committed to Ohio will have been wasted.

If Romney selects Rubio, the $14 mil Obama has commmitted to Florida will have been wasted.

Florida – 29 electoral votes, an increase of 2 electoral votes. The state’s population increased by 2,818,932 or 17.6 percent to 18,801,310 in 2010

Ohio – 18 electoral votes, a decrease of 2 electoral votes. The state’s population increased by 183,364 or 1.6 percent to 11,536,504 in 2010

Assuming no hidden issues, the wise choice for vp is Rubio.

  52. I have a feeling that Obama thinks Michigan is a win for him, so no need to spend as much money there. Won’t it be a big surprise when the smart people of Michigan help the rest of us give BO his walking papers!

  53. I know this is totally off topic, but it is an interesting question. If the Greenland ice were to melt it is claimed that the sea would rise 7 metres (about 22feet). Well Greenland is called Greenland because it used to be green. So when it was green presumably the sea level was higher. Yet where is the evidence in low lying say European coastal areas. Amsterdam was there. London was there and not drowned. These numbers are thrown around, but /i never see any evidence that they are true based on known history. Odd. Anyone any insights?

  54. $77 Million ad buy on CNN, thats a waste, the lowest performing network with the lowest numbers and they spend that much on it and its preaching to the choir.

  55. nomobama
I guess a little of it all. My brother owns it but it’s my place. Just want to serve decent people a decent price product. No tolerence for idiots

  56. I don’t know what blogs Leonora hangs out at but I know that Rubio is a very popular pick for VP. I don’t think his status matters because then Obama’s pedigree with a British citizen father would come into question too.

I absolutely adore Rubio and I am on many, many blog sites all day long and I have not seen or read anything where anyone is saying that if Rubio is picked people won’t vote for Romney. Rubio is charismatic, patriotic, and an excellent speaker. Being a Hispanic myself (not Cuban-American like Rubio) I am telling you he will bring in a big Latino vote. Mexican and Cuban, because all he’ll have to do is some commercials in Spanish and they’ll vote for him. Latino people are that way. They’re very prideful and they’ll be damn happy to have a Spanish speaking Vice President. They’ll look at it as an accomplishment for “one of them.”

This Pew report is mandatory reading. In a nutshell, the response rate for telephone polls has crashed from 36% in 1997 to 15% in 2009 to just 9% today. Yet Pew makes the amazing finding that:

However, the study finds that the tendency to volunteer is not strongly related to political preferences, including partisanship, ideology and views on a variety of issues. Republicans and conservatives are somewhat more likely than Democrats and liberals to say they volunteer, but this difference is not large enough to cause them to be substantially over-represented in telephone surveys.

They have it utterly backwards. Liberals love to talk to pollsters. Republicans and conservatives hang up on them with disgust. Pew is living in a bubble. They are no longer able to accurately poll, and they have no idea who is hanging up on them in what numbers, so their large bias overwhelms their small data. A Democratic loss is literally unthinkable to them. The race must be close because the alternative is political death. The only way for Obama to be winning is D+19. So D+19 it is.

  58. I am on pins and needles hoping Romney is smart enough to pick Rubio. I’ve come to like Mitt but I think he still needs some VP that will put some enthusiasm into his campaign and I think Rubio is someone who will do that.

I don’t want a boring Portman or PawPaw. I’ll still vote for Mitt but with a lot less happiness in my heart.

  59. Oh, Messiah Obama, how do I hate thee, let me count the ways. I hate you for that vapid grin. I hate your for that boombox you tote around so you do not say something off script. I hate you for the disrespect you show to the American People. I hate you for what your concerted efforts to tear down our consitution. I hate you for the way you are destroying our economic base. I hate you for the way you throw everyone under the bus. I hate you for the way you trash our allies, and genuflect to our enemies. I hate you for the svengali effect you have on the young and naive. I hate you for the way you want the nation to honor your birthday–how petty can hath Caesar grown. And most of all, I hate you for what you are too arrogant to appreciate namely this nation, and to replace our freedom with a bureauracratic kafakesque order whic is so foreign to our tradition and character.

  60. MoonOnPluto, CNN only reported the expenditures. The ad buy is across the board on broadcast TV and cable channels. At this point, with such little viewership CNN barely qualifies as a TV channel. Ditto MSNBC.

  61. Yheitman and Leonora, we’ll publish an article on Rubio next week. Get your boxing gloves ready. 🙂

  62. I think he still needs some VP that will put some enthusiasm into his campaign and I think Rubio is someone who will do that.

In this celebrity obsessed sound bite driven sell the sizzle not the steak culture it is essential that Romney select someone who is youthful, dynamic and a believer in the American Dream–as opposed to the Obama nightmare in red. Nobody else on the current stage does that like Marco. Nobody.

But there is another reason to select Rubio.

Why do you thing Obama has suddenly decided to give Bill a major speaking role at the convention? It is not because he likes the cut of Bill’s jib, or because they are in lock step on policy matters. The reason is because no one else can inspire the flagging base, and get them to the polls.

Romney cannot generate the same level of enthusiasm that Bill can. Even if he could the press would minimize it, just as they are now labeling him a wimp. He needs a dynamic inspirational vice president connected to the base from a large electoral swing state.

Marco Rubio is the only one who fits that bill. He would inspire the base, Hispanics, young people, etc. in essential ways that noody else can. The man, the moment, the message. It’s got to be him, in my opinon.

If that is what they are saying then it is damned near the funniest thing I ever heard. The reason why we sample far more democrats than republicans is because the republicans hang up on us . . . but that has no effect on the validity of our polls. Perhaps they should only interview democrats, which is where the trend line is going, but in that case, make it clear that this is a poll of democrats preferences, and, therefore, it is not predictive of what will happen in the general election. Now there is a novel idea, called truth in advertising.

  64. Looks like tee vee got the memo. It’s early, but WPIX and 6ABC have both painted Chick Fil A Appreciation Day participation as an affirmation of heterosexual marriage.

  65. So the MSM completely blacks out the CFA story, I wonder if the MSM knows how many millions, who previous used to watch/trust them, have completely blacked them out from their homes, from their mailboxes.

  66. The only place I’ve seen this story reported fairly is local news, national news is all about Oturd, helping Oturd, lying and covering up for oturd.

  67. This is all getting so crazy! Whatever people do in their private lives is none of my business. Gay or straight just doesn’t matter to me. The marriage issue does concern me though. I don’t understand why they are pushing it and I certainly don’t understand why they are trying to make it a civil rights’ issue.

Homosexuals have always had the exact same rights as heterosexuals, that is, the right to marry a person of the opposite sex. They just do not wish to exercise that right. They want a new “right,” to be created just for them – the right to marry a person of the same sex. Society has never granted such a “right” to anyone. So much for claims of demanding “marriage equality.” They have always had it. They just want something different.

I don’t really believe in special rights. If the government creates out of thin air this brand new ‘right’ just for them, what the hell are they going to ask for next?

  68. Is Harry on the long or short replacement list? He needs to go..

Romney to Reid: ‘Put up or shut up’ on source of ‘untrue’ tax claims

Mitt Romney lashed back at Harry Reid on Thursday in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, saying the Senate majority leader needs to “put up or shut up” after airing allegations about Romney’s taxes.

Reid, a Nevada Democrat, first raised eyebrows Tuesday by saying in a news interview that someone had told him Romney went 10 years without paying taxes. He would only identify his source as an investor in Romney’s former venture capital firm, Bain Capital, and he acknowledged, “I’m not certain” it’s true.

That didn’t stop Reid from taking to the Senate floor Thursday to accuse the Republican presidential candidate again of paying no taxes, part of a broader Democratic attack on Romney for declining to release more than two years of tax documents.

“The word’s out that he hasn’t paid any taxes for 10 years,” Reid said. “Let him prove that he has paid taxes, because he hasn’t.”

But Romney forcefully denied Reid’s allegations on Hannity’s radio show Thursday.

“Harry’s going to have to describe who it is he spoke with, because, of course, that is totally and completely wrong,” Romney said. “It’s untrue, dishonest and inaccurate. It’s wrong.

“So, I’m looking forward to have Harry reveal his sources, and we will probably find out it’s the White House.”

Romney’s campaign earlier rejected the majority leader’s statement as “shameful.”

Reid also raised eyebrows for invoking Romney’s late father, himself a one-time presidential candidate.

“His poor father must be so embarrassed about his son,” Reid told the Huffington Post.

George Romney, a Michigan governor, released 12 years of tax returns during his unsuccessful bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 1968. His son has released only his 2010 tax return and an estimate for 2011, years when he was preparing for his own presidential bid or already running.

Reid doubled down on the claim late Thursday, firing back at Romney in a written statement.

“People who make as much money as Mitt Romney have many tricks at their disposal to avoid paying taxes,” Reid said in a written statement. “When it comes to answering the legitimate questions the American people have about whether he avoided paying his fair share in taxes or why he opened a Swiss bank account, Romney has shut up. But as a presidential candidate, it’s his obligation to put up, and release several years’ worth of tax returns just like nominees of both parties have done for decades.

“It’s clear Romney is hiding something, and the American people deserve to know what it is.”

Reid’s comments come in the middle of a scathing critique of the former Massachusetts governor’s tax plan. The Tax Policy Center, which Romney has called “an objective third party” in the past, noted that his proposal would give benefits to high-income earners while giving a tax increase to middle-class Americans. Romney’s camp has disputed that analysis.

  69. ““It’s clear Romney is hiding something, and the American people deserve to know what it is.””

The only thing that’s hiding is how the dems for all these years managed to keep Harry Reid’s craziness away from the MSM. I guess there was no internet back then, I look back and see that same craziness, its allways been there, the dems and their MSM just hid it very well. Not anymore.

Cass Sunstein, the husband of Samantha Power authored much of the LOST Treaty.

The so called “Regulatory Working Group” is headed by Cass Sunstein. This is the same Cass Sunstein who has written prolifically that animals should be able to sue their owners, the government should be allowed to decide who gets to live and that the government should be able to harvest citizens organs without permission.

Apparently in Obama’s world giving away American sovereignty isn’t enough – he is appointing the most offensive members of his inner circle of radicals to lead the charge.

  73. As silly as this sounds, Sustein is working to BAN conspiracy theories. Why would conspiracy theories be such a high priority on Sustein’s radar that he feels the need to commit it to outlaw status?

Only one answer satisfies the question as the right answer. Because theory has crossed the threshold into our reality.

  74. GQ has some extremely stale title for an article making Romney into a robot or something. Fuck them and all the others who are trying to create the meme that he is not flashy. They got flashy last time with a halo thrown in for good measure. How did that guy perform? I think we need to push back on this meme and push back hard. We need a competent guy not some celebrity wannabe reading off of a teleprompter. We have to talk about what Romney brings to the table. I see an adult who sees the country in trouble and rising to help, just like he helped so many of the ailing businesses in his adult career. He is measured and methodical and will not look flashy even if you set him on fire and that is a good thing this time around (he is flashy enough for people like me because I see him as a thinking, cerebral person). How about spreading that meme instead of wishing for a different Romney. Brains is what we need, not brawns but we didn’t get brawns either with the guy currently in the WH and he was never flashy unless he was flashing red light all over.

  75. Obama screwed mightily…..

Obama cannot get away with this now, unemployment has risen to 8.3% and he is completely and utterly finished, numbers will tank through the floor now.

All deserting the Obama WH in droves, last one out, turn the lights out and close the door.

Deserting in droves may be a sign with 2 fold meanings. If the hubris hits the fan and Obama loses, they know he won’t go quietly. This is something I totally agree with. It will happen ‘sooner’ if all hope of Obama’s re-election is lost before Nov even with Obama’s advantage having Spain’s manipulation of the final tally… Or, if Obama decides to risk all and go through with the election knowing the end result will favor Romney.

While we are waiting for the announcement of the winner of the 2012 Presidential election is when Obama’s parallel contingency plan pulling the plug on America will happen. Obama’s ego will never survive facing defeat. Neither will the global elites want the peasants to actually know Obama has lost the election. We have to think of the globally connected power people behind Obama not just thinking of him as the decider in chief. Obama is no more than a tool and a puppet enslaved to his global owners for the rest of his life.

  79. Hilarious…….In 2009, Team Obama predicted 5.6% unemployment rate in July 2012 w/ stimlus, 6% w/o stimulus …..2012 reality 8.3%

  80. another one.

Unemployment rate when Obama made his “If I don’t have this thing done in three years” statement: 8.3%. Unemployment rate today: 8.3%.

  81. “Tell me more about Romney’s horse.”

I didn’t want to jinx it for Romney’s horse by critiquing Ebeling’s ride. Going into yesterday’s ride Ebeling was 4th. After the rest of his competitors finished, he is now in 16th place. All the competitors have a second chance to do better today. When it’s done, I will say more. The video Basil posted yesterday has all the faults on tape.

Rafalca is feeling it in her left hip.

  82. Unemployment rate when Obama made his “If I don’t have this thing done in three years” statement: 8.3%. Unemployment rate today: 8.3%.

Rookie mistake.. and how much has media had to cover up for his rookie mistake?

  83. This is gonna leave a mark……

Obama, You’re No Bill Clinton On Economic Policies

When the Democratic Party announced that Bill Clinton would deliver a prime-time speech at their convention in early September, convention head Antonio Villaraigosa left no doubt as to why.

“President Clinton oversaw the longest economic expansion in U.S. history,” he said, “pursuing many of the same policies that President Obama is proposing and implementing today.”

That’s a message Obama has been delivering himself — repeatedly — at campaign stops as he tries to make an argument for a second term amid a historically sluggish economic recovery.

“Just like their theories have been tested and didn’t work,” he said, “my theories have been tested. The last time they were tried was by a guy named Bill Clinton. And we created 23 million new jobs, went from deficits to surplus.”

But a review of the record shows that Obama’s policies — enacted or proposed — bear little resemblance to those adopted by Clinton during his eight years in office.

    Here’s a rundown:

Spending. Federal spending during Clinton’s eight years in office fell as a share of GDP, dropping from 22% the year before he took office to 18.2% the year he left. Under Obama, spending climbed from 20.7% to 24%, and Obama’s budget would keep it above 22% for the foreseeable future, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Deficits. During Clinton’s first year, liberals in his administration wanted more spending, while budget hawks wanted to focus on deficit reduction. The hawks won, and Clinton’s first budget called for $140 billion in deficit cuts. Obama’s first budget, in contrast, proposed exploding the deficit by $240 billion in its first year, and Obama has yet to produce a budget with less than $1 trillion in red ink.

Tax cuts. In 1997, Clinton signed a tax-cut plan pushed by Republicans that, among other things, slashed the capital gains tax rate to 20% from 28% and set off an investment and stock market boom. Obama proposes to raise the effective top rate on capital gains to 24.7% and hike the top rate on dividends to 44.7%, which would be about 10% higher than under Clinton, according to a report by Ernst & Young.

Deregulation. In 1999, Clinton signed the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act that freed banks from Depression-era regulations, saying it “will modernize our financial services laws, stimulating greater innovation and competition in the financial services industry.” Obama has blasted that law, arguing that it contributed to the financial crises. In 2008, for example, he said banking deregulation “encouraged a winner-take-all, anything-goes environment that helped foster devastating dislocations in our economy.”

  84. I will say again to compare OTurd to Clinton is a very big insult to Clinton. I voted for Clinton twice, his adm had a very good relationship with small businesses. Same for Reagan, I vote for Reagan twice, as a Reagan Dem. Heck, even GWB was pretty good compared to Oturd.

Barry OTurd is a different creature all to himself, no american presient, dem or repub, ever saw America in the radical way OTurd does. He is not an advocate for America, he’s just an advocate for himself. He doesn’t believe in American exceptionalism, he only believes in his own exceptionalism.

And then of course there is the American media completely complicit and compliant in the rise of this Barry post turtle.

  85. “President Clinton oversaw the longest economic expansion in U.S. history,” he said, “pursuing many of the same policies that President Obama is proposing and implementing today.”

  86. So how did the rate go up……………..

Of the supposed 163k net “jobs” created last month, 429k were created through BLS statistical adjustment. Actual jobs: -195k.

  87. Tim, the golden calf is looking for some golden dust from the only guy in the Dem party who has any credibility next of course only to Hillary. It is laughable that Obama and his minions are know crawling on their knees to get BC’s help. We should catalog all the names they called BC in 2008 not to mention deriding all his policies then. We should ridicule them and not get upset with this. Hopefully BC will do something awesome for us between now and the convention.

  88. Yes Moon. That is the point. Bill Clinton did not wish upon a star for economic growth and expansion. He acted by adopting policies in the areas of 1) deficits, ii) tax cuts, and iii) degregualation. Fundamentally, he believed in the capitalist system, nd was devoted to the middle class. The confluence of these policies and attitudes, plus the productivity changes generated by technological change during that era stimulated economic growth and expansion.

Obama is the antithesis of everything Bill stood for in these areas. He is hostile to capitalism. He hates the middle class–particularly the white middle class. He hates this country and all that it stands for, and it manifests itself in those embarrassing off guard, off camera moments when the mask slimps off. And his policies on deficits, tax cuts and deregulation are the dyametric opposite of those of Clinton and the now extinct DLC.

In sum, Bill Clinton is the counter example of Obama, and from a party perspective the Ghost of Christmases past. Therefore, when he waxes eloquent about what the Party represents, he is speaking of a party that once was, no longer is and may never ever return in our lifetimes.

For those reasons, it is entirely possible that when we get past the the Convention, the roar of the crowd and the smell of the grease paint, the take away may be I wish we had Bill Clinton back and we hope Hillary runs in 2016. This is not the message Obama wants to convey. In that case the enthusiasm may be short lived, and the Republicans will then have occasion to say all this, and more.

  89. loving twitter right now……

Sky-high unemployment….But BAIN!! Tax returns!! Dog on car!! Wedgies in high school!! Birth control!! War on women!!

  90. moon, sorry for my ignorance, how do you follow on twitter, I created an account, or rather my nephew did, but how do you know who to follow ?

  91. In other words, the inevitable consequence of selecting Bill to speak for the fraud at the convention will draw not only comparisions, which will be pushed by big media, but more importantly, contrasts which will be pushed by the Republicans, the honest media and voters who care about the future of this country. If the Convention were in October rather than August, then that could be a factor, and no doubt Bill will hit the campaign trail even though he shouldn’t. He has been tasked with inspiring a dispirited base, but when the comparison between what Bill accomplish and Obama has failed to accomplish and why is fully digested, it may not have the effect they assume. Frankly, if the Republicans select Rubio, that will have a much larger impact than these machinations.

  92. The jobs report is confusing and contradictory. The 8.3% unemployment rate is bad for the POS but the 163,000 jobs created is good for him because the predicted number was 100,000 and last month’s number was 80,000.

I confess I do not get the math at all especially when throwing in the fact 155,000 left the job market and the real unemployment number (U6) rose from 14.9 to 15%.

The POS is speaking today and he will concentrate on the higher than expected job growth.

    Wish I understood economics more.

  93. oh goodie Hilda solis on CNBS, wonder what nonsense she’ll be saying. How this woman is sec of labor is stunning.

  94. Basil, we already displayed and explained a bit further back. This number is not good for him, you need more than 250K to even break even.

  95. Obama going into shit territory again…..Todays double dose of shit on Obama after the jobs report.

    Rasmussen : Daily Tracking: #Romney: 47%, #Obama: 43%..

  96. The Delusion : White House says jobs report “provides further evidence that the U.S. economy is continuing to recover”.

The reality : Today’s increase in the unemployment rate is a hammer blow to struggling middle-class families.” — Mitt Romney

Oh the delusion, so the increase in the unemployment rate is recovering, that’s a new one.

  97. according to ZH, of the 160K jobs, more than every before, parttime jobs are being in higher % of the jobs created.

So, number of fulltime jobs is decreasing and number of parttime jobs is increasing that ratio, and a parttime job is someone who even just works 1 hour per week.

  98. Romney to Reid: ‘Put up or shut up’ on source of ‘untrue’ tax claims
Mortimer Snerd Reid is at his wits end polically. Casino owner Steve Wynn was once his strongest supporter and a supporter of Obama. A couple years ago this changed. Faced with uncontrovertible evidence that Obama is killing eoconomic recovery with his tax and regulatory policies, and hearing Obama’s comments discouraging people from coming to Las Vegas, Wynn began to criticize Obama publicly and vocally. He made it very clear that he was speaking not only for himself but for others in the business community who comprise Reid’s donor base. And now he is working for Romney–perhaps the only thing he and Trump agree on. Finally, when he gave Morimer Snerd a piece of his mind on the telephone, Snerd lost his cool and hung up on him. You should assume I have a high regard for Wynn. I have interviewed for a job at his flagship operation Wynn Las Vegas and corresponded with him. Stellar business man.

  99. the 45% strong disapprove is fatal, its virtually 45% gone and not coming back
Half the country STRONGLY disapproves. The other half ranges from disapprove to neutral (too dumb to spit) to approve (ignorant or corrupt). Strongly disapprove–wow. For all his eloquence and political acumen, it is highly unlikely that Bill can move that number through the power of words. And for Obama that number of people who strongly disapprove of his presidency is absolutely, positively deadly. A moribund economy does not help either. But since Obama believes the economy is improving he needs to tell Bernake that he can sit back now and not print more money because to do so would have an inflationary effect.

  100. this is pretty bad, all these people dropped out of the labor force and the unemployment rate still went up!

“There were 195,000 fewer people employed in the United States in July than in June, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as the national unemployment rate ticked up from 8.2 percent to 8.3 percent.

Meanwhile, 150,000 people simply dropped out of the labor force during the month and did not seek to find a job.

In June, according to BLS, there had been 142,415,000 people employed in the United States. In July, that dropped to 142,220,000–a decline of 195,000.

Similarly, in June, there were 155,163,000 people in the civilian labor force in the United States. To be counted in the civilian labor force, person must be 16 years old or older, not be in the military, prison or a mental institution, and either have a job or have actively looked for a job in the past four weeks.

In July, the number of people in the civilian labor force was 155,013,000–a decline of 150,000 from June.”

  101. The job number’s highlight and give the game away as to why the name of the game for Obama’s campaign must be character assassination because there is nothing else.

  102. This is how breaking news put it, amazinging deception.

U.S. economy added 163,000 jobs in July, far more than analysts expected. Unemployment rate rose slightly to 8.3%

Far more than analysts expected and unemployment rate rose slightly. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Also, Bill Clinton, speaking at the convention will do nothing but, one show how popular Bill is, and how wonderful a leader he was. AND SECOND remind us that we had a much better chance at helping America, and perphaps being out of this mess already. Or lets say at least she would have stablized the situation, as she would have not spent all that time golfing, and campaigning, and we all know who that is HILLARY R. CLINTON.

  103. right, like a few addition words will make a difference
“OTurd decided to drop the “it worked” part of his previous “we’ve tried our plan and it worked” statement”
Which part of “worked” is he talking about??

  104. Harry Reid is an irresponsible legislator so it is no great quantum leap to find that he is also an unscrupulous politician. The clip below does a good job of kicking him in the balls. But does it have any effect on anything? Same way with the insane statements of botox Nan. More needs to be done about them. There is nothing humerous about what they are doing to this country.–harry-reid–are-terrible

  105. There was lots of chatter this week about the decision to have Bill Clinton speak in prime time on the penultimate night of the Democratic Convention. Is it a sign of panic?

    YOU BETCHA!!!! 😆

  106. I really no longer recognize the dem party. Common launguage brings a country together, no one is banning spanish, but having a common language is one of the things essential.
I had employees who spoke spanish, yet they made sure to learn english, and made sure their kids earned to speak english fluently, no doubt they spoke spanish very well too, but I remember they wanted their kids to speak english fluently.

And these dem jerks mock this.

  107. I posted Jay Cost’s latest blog above without comment. Let me correct that situation here and now.

The thrust of his article is that while the attack ads against Romney have had no discernable impact on national averages, and have caused the Obama campaign to burn through precious resources before the main battle begins (which is, of course, Rove’s point), they have in fact moved the needle in swing states where the election will be decided by a 2-3 percentage points–which he deems modest, but I do not. Moreover, those attack ads have effectively laid the groundwork for the post Labor Day campaign, and, by inference, the big ad buys referred to above.

Cost goes on to suggest that the Romney campaign is aware of this, is prepared to begin responding more vigorously, and may not wait until the Convention to do so. Previously, I excoriated the Wall Street Journal’s resident Obama lover Jerry Seib for claiming that the attack ads where working, when the national numbers were not moving. Seib was never clear on this, but it is reasonable to assume that the reference was to swing states. Either way, it needs to be addressed. And Romney needs to get a better spokesman than Eric Fendelson who he continues to put out there.

  108. Just found this on UM:

Gathering for Attacks Upon US Capitol Building November 11th right after the election

A few people at freerepublic have received an e-mail from Anomymous telling them there will be the start of a Revolution

The purpose of this message is to inform you about the Revolution:

This attack follows exactly the Cloward & Piven strategy, which calls this the third and final step in the violent overthrow of democratic governments. Installation of a Dictatorship is their ultimate goal. Top down, bottom-up and inside out explains everything BHO has done during his term in office.

I was skeptical at first when I read this….I said why would they tell us their plans, to put fear in us? ….. Then some of the Comments brought light on the subject:

The ONE THING you can COUNT on radical Leftists to do….. TELL YOU THEIR PLANS.

They all do. They all MUST. It is one of the rules of God, liberals can lie about everything except what they actually plan to do.

History shows what happens when we hear the whacked nonsense that comes from these extremists and then disregard them.

From Marx to Hitler to the Aurora Colorado Shooter, they write it out, plan it out and tell anyone who will listen. Then they DO EXACTLY what they said they planned to do.

    Always. Exactly. Be forewarned

May “GOD” help to Save Our Country!!….. Obama needs to be exposed & removed before the election!!

I could feel it coming.. now I know it’s true.. their contingency plan is set to roll out.

  109. Idiots. They do realise what “rounding numbers” means?

“President Obama’s top economic adviser explained today that the national unemployment rate is not really 8.3 percent, as the Labor Department announced.

“The household survey showed that the unemployment rate ticked up to 8.3% in July (or, more precisely, the rate rose from 8.217% in June to 8.254% in July),” Alan Krueger, chair of the Council of Economic Advisers, wrote on the White House blog. “Acting BLS Commissioner John Galvin noted in his statement that the unemployment rate was ‘essentially unchanged’ from June to July.” […]

He did not mention that 195,000 fewer Americans had jobs this month as opposed to last month, as 150,000 Americans dropped out of the labor force (and so were not counted in the Labor Department’s calculation of the unemployment rate).

  110. tim,

If you knew the anount of money spent on ESL (English as a Second Language) you would be outraged. I have worked in schools where ESL teachers – getting full salary and extra for their ESL certifications – worked with 2 or 3 kids a week. (In contrast to moi who as the music teacher had 1200 students weekly in one school).

In Jersey City, the mostly Indian Bytch ESL teachers taught in a half dozen Indian dialects from Gujurati to Hindi.

These kids got more teaching time, one-om-one instruction, more money and more opportunity than regular kids.

The cost per education for these kids is 2 to 3 times higher. In in a district I covered as a reporter the cost for regular students was $16G a year while that for ESL and Special Needs kids rose as high as $50G.

Meantime the regular kids get fewer resources and less of the economic pie. It is a disgrace.

  111. “It is a disgrace.”

I agree, I think funding for ESL programs should be continued (I didn’t realise that level of support nonenglish speakers get, you’re right I probably would be outraged), but what pisses me off is that dems then say, oh, no we’re not having English as America’s official language, then what the hell are their ESL programs funding??
I’m ok with helping people learn english, but if then the dem say, no we’re not having english as official american language, then why the hell even fund ESL programs!
I know in China, parents there make sure their kids learn and are fluent in english.

its like these dems are lunatics, they really are.

  112. Why should ESL kids, many of who are here illegally, receive up to 3X the school funding as english speaking kids?

And you’re right – if the dims don’t support english as the official language of the US than ESL classes should be phased out.

    Dims are complete hypocrites.

  113. Hope Rafalca continues to perform well. Anyone else notice the strange marking on her inside right front leg?

And speaking of the Olympics, why didn’t the American gymnast also get a Bronze Medal since she tied with the third place winner?

    3 Aliya Mustafina Russia 59.566
    4 Aly Raisman USA 59.566

  114. basil, sorry, no haven’t been following the horse competition, I don’t ever see it on TV, so I don’t know when they are showing those competitions.

  115. Thanks moononpluto and others who weighed in on the jobs report but it is still confusing.

    Even Drudge has this:

Reuters: Labor market slowed sharply after strong gains in winter, spelling trouble for Obama…

AP: Stronger job creation could help Obama’s re-election hopes…

Problem is the dims will seize on the higher than expected jobs creation, ignore the rest and that is what will be covered in MSM. Thankfully, fewer and fewer people get their news from them anymore and their approval is something like 20%.

I wonder if these numbers can and/or will be manipulated in the next few months to favor the POS. IS that possible?

  116. Romney 47%
    POS 44%

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Mitt Romney attracting 47% of the vote, while President Obama earns support from 43%. Five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

Following Romney’s overseas trip, 44% believe the president is better able to deal with America’s allies. Another 44% say Romney is better for that task.

Republicans continue to follow the election more closely than Democrats or unaffiliated voters. This is a key indicator of potential turnout.

  117. Oh, come on! “Federal spending FELL AS A SHARE OF GDP” — just means that GDP ROSE. An honest writer would have compared the actual amount of federal spending at the beginning of the period with the actual amount of federal spending at the end.

  118. Homosexuals have always had the exact same rights as heterosexuals, that is, the right to marry a person of the opposite sex.

ROFL! Actually, that’s an argument that Obama’s administration used to support some anti-gay measure — Prop 8 iirc?

  119. Charles Krauthammer: The media missed Romney’s overseas triumph

At the outset of his recent foreign trip, Mitt Romney committed a gaffe. In answer to a question about the Olympics, he expressed skepticism about London’s preparations. The response confounded and agitated Romney supporters because it was such an unforced error. The question invited a simple paean to Olympic spirit and British grit, not the critical analysis of a former Olympic organizer.

Soon that initial stumble was transmuted into a metaphor for everything that followed. The mainstream media decided with near unanimity that the rest of the trip amounted to a gaffe-prone disaster.

Really? The Warsaw leg was a triumph. Romney’s speech warmly embraced Poland’s post-communist experiment as a stirring example of a nation committed to limited government at home and a close alliance with America abroad, even unto such godforsaken war zones as Afghanistan and Iraq, at great cost to itself and with little thanks.

Especially little from the Obama administration, which unilaterally canceled a Bush(43)-era missile-defense agreement with Poland to appease Russia. Without any overt criticism of the current president, Romney set out a foreign policy of radically greater appreciation of and fidelity to American allies.

And at his previous stop in Jerusalem, Romney’s speech was a masterpiece of nuance and restraint. Without directly criticizing Obama, Romney drew pointed distinctions deftly expressed in the code words and curlicued diction of Middle East diplomacy.

He declared flatly that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital. The official Obama position is that Israel’s capital is to be determined in negotiations with the Palestinians. On Iran, Romney asserted that Israel has the right to defend itself. Obama says this as boilerplate. Romney made clear he means it — that if Israel has to attack, the U.S. won’t flash the red light before nor punish Israel afterward.

What about the alleged gaffe that dominated reporting from Israel? Romney averred that Israeli and Palestinian economic development might be related to culture. A Palestinian Authority spokesman obligingly jumped forth to accuse Romney of racism, among other thought crimes.

The American media bought it whole, despite the fact that Romney’s assertion was a direct echo of the UN Arab Human Development Report, written by Arab intellectuals and commissioned by the UN. It unambiguously asserted that “culture and values are the soul of development.” And went on to report how existing cultural norms — “including traditional Arab culture and values” — are among the major impediments to Arab economic progress.

The report deplores the rampant corruption, repressive governance and lack of women’s (and human) rights as major contributors to backwardness in the Arab world. (In the Palestinian case, it faults Israeli “occupation,” but a UN document that doesn’t blame Israel for every Palestinian sorrow, if not the world’s, has yet to be written. Moreover, that excuse doesn’t work for today’s occupation-free, Palestinian-run Gaza.)

Is there any question about Romney’s assertion? PLO/PA corruption is a legend. Palestinians are repelled by it. Why do you think the PA lost the 2006 (and last) free election?

Romney’s point about “culture” was to highlight the improbable emergence of Israel from resourceless semi-desert to First World “startup nation,” a tribute to its freedom and openness.

Look at how Romney was received. In Israel, its popular prime minister lavished on him a welcome so warm as to be a near-endorsement. In Poland, Romney received an actual endorsement from Lech Walesa, former dissident, former president, Cold War giant, Polish hero. Yet the headlines were “shove it” and “culture.”

Scorecard? Romney’s trip was a major substantive success: one gaffe (Britain), two triumphs (Israel and Poland) and a fine demonstration of foreign policy fluency and command — wrapped, however, in a media narrative of surpassing triviality.

  120. Here’s the Zerohedge info cited upthread. I’m beginning to understand.

Happy by the headline establishment survey print of 133,245 which says that the US “added” 163,000 jobs in July from 133,082 last month? Consider this: the number was based on a non seasonally adjusted July number of 132,868.

This was a 1.248 million drop from the June print. So how did the smoothing work out to make a real plunge into an “adjusted” rise?

Simple: the BLS “added” 377K jobs for seasonal purposes. This was the largest seasonal addition in the past decade for a July NFP print in the past decade, possibly ever, as the first chart below shows.

But wait, there’s more: the Birth Death adjustment, which adds to the NSA Print to get to the final number, was +52k.

How does this compare to July 2011? It is about 1000% higher: the last B/D adjustment was a tiny +5K! In other words, of the 163,000 jobs “added”, 429,000 was based on purely statistical fudging.

Doesn’t matter – the flashing red headline is good enough for the algos.

  121. My common sense says that no one smart enough to be elected mayor of a major city is going to be dumb enough to threaten to deny a permit to a popular fast food chain over a political issue. The politician would be mobbed — which seems to be happening.

I am afflicted with an odd compulsion to look for facts before passing judgement. Did any officials actually threaten to deny permits to CFA — except maybe one Alderman, who iirc has since said his office didn’t have the power anyway? What did they actually say — and in what context? Where’s a full transcript or video?

First, where’s a reliable source of information? Usually Salon or Mother Jones would be good on something like this, but what I’ve found there just seems to be quoting the opinion of a writer at the Chicago Sun Times:

Emanuel goes after Chick-fil-A for boss’ anti-gay views
BY FRAN SPIELMAN City Hall Reporter July 25, 2012 11:12AM

None of the politicians quoted says anything about using official power to ‘go after’ or ‘block’ the CFA business, except one Chicago Alderman, Ald. Joe Moreno (1st).

Btw, distinguish Moreno from Boston Mayor Menino, who also has NOT sfaik threatened official action against CFA. Apparently he is being misrepresented by the Boston Globe. Here is the letter he wrote to CFA, which makes no such threat.

“Originally, I said I would do everything I can to stop them.’’ Menino said in an interview at City Hall. “And that was mostly using the bully pulpit of being mayor of the city and getting public support. But I didn’t say I would not allow them to go for permits or anything like that. I just said we would do everything we can, bully pulpit-wise.”
    — From the Boston Globe, who slants this against Menino

  122. I’m ok with helping people learn english, but if then the dem say, no we’re not having english as official american language, then why the hell even fund ESL programs!

Er, to encourage something without making it compulsory?

  123. ‘Salon or Mother Jones would be good on something like this.’

Water spurt! THAT has to be the funniest thing I’ve red all day.

Tim…my suggestion would be the MR Super Pacs need to have a much faster RAPID RESPONSE…why aren’t they out there right now with an ad on the national networks saying something like:

Harry Reid, where is your decency? Where are your tax returns? You are the head of the US Senate…you have become a millionaire…your son has become a millionaire.

Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, another multi-millionaire…where are your tax records?

I read that with great interest.

I will look up Anonymous’ videos as soon as I have a moment; I would like to know more about them. Yes, they are computer hackers and that may be a questionable action.

I want to know if they are a friend of Americans and the Constitution or a friend of the enemy of the same. What I have been told is that they hack to protect freedom by exposing those who are opposed to it. Their motto includes: We are Legion; We do not forgive. We do not forget.Expect us…always.

It is said that they are much like the Tea Party in that there are different factions working on different facets of the same thing – and that they are big and permanent. They gained notoriety in hacking gaming stations databases, but I figure at this point that was just practice for more important stuff and a stretching of the muscles exercise…and a warning. When I asked what did they mean by “Legion” and was answered with because it means that even if you defeat one faction, there are more that will rise up.

If you watched it you would be appalled, The Russian Gymnast actually FELL off the beam and still was gifted, like the fraud, the Bronze medal. It was clear to me that with the long wait for scores they calculated to assure the score the American got would ensure the Russian would win. The American’s floor was beautiful and scored unusually low. Just like in the prelims where they made sure Jordon, the World record holder and American, would NOT get into the all around.

In gymnastics they drop a score, and I am not sure how they decided that as the American outscored her on 3 of 4 events and gifted the Bronze as I said to the Russian. Typical political Olympics where the Americans get screwed.

Comedian Jon Stewart ripped Mayors Rahm Emanuel and Tom Menino on Thursday night for pledging to block Chick-fil-A from opening new restaurants in their cities, siding with those on the right who say such a move would be unconstitutional.

“Pretty sure you can’t outlaw a company with perfectly legal business practices because you find their CEO’s views repellant. Not sure which amendment covers that, but it’s probably in the top one,” Stewart said. “I think maybe the mayors hadn’t thought this thing through.”

Stewart mocked the chicken chain’s supporters, too, using sexual innuendo in a joke about “the million mouth march.”

“And what better way to stand up and say, ‘I oppose gay people’s rights to get married,’ than to head down to a Chick-fil-A, grab a hold of two buttery buns, split down and gobble down some of that hot, greasy…” Stewart said before saying a certain synonym for chicken that also refers to the male anatomy.

Stewart saved his serious point for the end: that the widespread acceptance of same-sex marriage is inevitable.

“For people who are gay or support gay marriage, I get how seeing thousands of people come out to make this statement is incredibly disheartening. But take solace in this: Gay marriage is happening. Like many drive-through window lanes, it ain’t going backwards.

“And your bonus is this: You get gay marriage,” he continued. “And all your political opponents are going to get is Type 2 diabetes.”

It’s food for thought. The notations within the post are correct. The radicals DO ALWAYS make an announcement before they do something catastrophic. Holmes wrote everything down sending his notebook to the shrink. There’s a feeling of power within these individuals when they threaten and we ignore the warning and do nothing. It goes with the territory.

WHITE HOUSE INSIDER: “We Got One Last Chance Here To Make It Right”
by Ulsterman on August 2, 2012 with 43 Comments in News
The timing of this interview comes just days after a soon to be published book authored by Richard Miniter details how it is Valerie Jarrett and not President Barack Obama who makes the final decision in so many of the most critical calls from within the White House – even those involving the United States military. This knowledge is nothing new to readers of this blog, for that very information first originated from our own longtime D.C. political operative some two years ago. We talk to that figure again now, in person – White House Insider.
WHI: (BIG SMILE) Now you’re seein’ it. Romney got inside his head – Obama is rattled. The entire campaign is rattled. And Obama goes out and says what? You go ahead and tell me for a change. What does Obama say not two weeks after the Romney team slips that internal polling data over to them?
    UM: “You didn’t build that.”
WHI: And that’s how you play smashmouth politics son. A mental castration of a sitting president. And the Romney team just did it as good as I’ve EVER seen it done right there. And the decision to make sure that polling data made its way back to Obama…that had to come from Mitt Romney himself. And when he did that…he balled up his fist and smacked Obama right up in his face. Right into that fake ass toothy fool grin of his. He let him know this ain’t gonna be 2008. This is gonna be a war. Barack Obama…Valerie Jarrett…Plouffe…Axelrod…they all got their asses kicked on this one.
    Romney done good…
UM:  Are you saying Obama was so rattled he didn’t mean what he said?  The comments about “you didn’t build that”?
    Read more in News
« Best Chick-fil-A Comment So Far
WHI:  Oh hell no.  No-no-no.  He meant it.  Every bit of it.  (Pause)  What I mean there is that he slipped up…the subject was burnin’ that little pea brain of his…so he slipped up.  He allowed what he really feels to come right out into the open.  He’s done that before…here and there.  But this was…this time it was really out in the open – he was shouting it.  The deal is…with Obama…like I’ve said – guy hates America.  Really does.  Thinks it needs…thinks there needs to be a reset button.  Thinks the free market is evil.  Thinks that only liberal government, Big Government, socialized government…whatever you wanna call it – he thinks that is the only real solution to how to reshape the country into his own image.
UM:  And you believe that perspective is different from the traditional Democratic Party in America – correct?
WHI:  You’re Godd-amn right it is – I’ll say it to you again and again – Obama ain’t no Democrat.  Never was.  Never has been.  He controls the party…people who think like him…people who placed him in power…they control the party…but they represent something far different than what the party was 20 odd years ago.
UM:  That change you suggest…it started during the Clinton years.
WHI:  You askin’ me or you tellin’ me?
UM:  That’s my opinion – it started during the Clinton years and accelerated during the Bush years.  At least on a national level…a concentrated level.  The Old Man says it started decades earlier – but the progressive thing…at least in my own lifetime…theClinton years seem to be where it really took root.
WHI:  Bill Clinton ain’t Barack Obama – don’t make that comparison with me son.
UM:  He has people from his administration who are now working – or were working, inside the Obama administration.
WHI:  Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
UM:  Does that explain Eric Holder?
    WHI:  What?
UM:  Holder – he came from the Clinton administration.
WHI:  You know how I feel about Eric f-cking Holder.
UM:  Maybe Holder…Clinton…maybe they are all cut from the same cloth?  And Eric Holder is still there…still running interference for Obama.
WHI:  Yeah – he’s still there.  For now.  Let’s see if that stays the same this fall.  Ok?  We got the vote, right?  Not many woulda thought that possible six months ago.  Certainly not a year ago.  I’ve done all I can on that – and then some.  And then some.  I got…I done every bit of what I could possibly do there – you know that.  You know what – you seen the results of that work.  Me and a few others…we got our asses hanging way out there on this.
UM:  But where does that leave it?  What now?
WHI:  What now is this – either the Republicans succeed in getting the special counsel…prosecutor…whatever the hell they callin’ it these days…or they don’t.  The vote…God bless them there…that was not an easy call.  People watching from the outside…they might think it’s an easy thing…but the media…they can turn that into a weapon against them if it ain’t handled right.  Somethin’ like that…you gotta role it out real careful…real deliberate like.  We ain’t finished with Holder – not by a long shot.  There’s some more about to break on him…got a few loose ends…a few feet still draggin’ – but that’s about to change.
UM:  How many people do you think Eric Holder has killed during his time at Justice with the Obama administration?  How long are people willing to wait it out – to “role it out real careful” as you put it?
WHI:  As long as it takes to get it done right son.  You don’t know how…how difficult this kinda thing can be.  This administration…these people around Obama – they got no fear on this stuff.  Cold blooded.  During the Clinton years…hell…things were done.  Yeah…things that leave me wondering…we all got blood on our hands.  Some more than others.  How’d I put that to you before – you don’t ever wanna do the things I’ve done?
But these Obama people…they are different.  A whole other level.  Never seen anything like it.  There’s stuff I won’t ever tell you.  Never.  You don’t want that kinda knowledge son.  You throw out a question like how many people been killed under Eric Holder?  Sh-t…you don’t even know what you’r askin’.  You got no f-cking idea how far these people will go to keep pushin’ this agenda of theirs.  Everything I told you was coming – now it’s here.   The dismantling of the American system.  The drones, the race riots, the promises to other countries…the open borders, the destruction of our domestic energy productions, the Obama government at war with the Catholic Church…the massive inflation that is just perched above us waiting to fall down on all our heads…so much sh-t they got ready to fire at us.  That second term…that’s their moment.  Obamacare, the deficit…cities going under…military cutbacks…I can’t keep track of it all it’s going on so damn fast now.  This election coming up – people better know…they ain’t messing around now.  This is the real f-cking deal right here.  Right now.
Let me tell you somethin’ the Old Man told me…it was months back.  Before all that sh-t that nearly put him in the ground.  The stress of all this ain’t good for him…taking its toll.  Can’t be good – he won’t share that with you…not all of it any ways.
So I’m asking him for help on about a thousand different fires I’m trying to put out – got Obama people everywhere.  And I mean everywhere – and the Old Man…he’s brushing that all aside.  “Just politics” he says.  He don’t give a sh-t about that stuff.  We are little people, right?  And he don’t mean to demean us when he says that – that’s just his world.  That’s his way – and he’s right.  He’s godd—mn right.  We are just cockroaches – it’s a sick business what we do.  But it’s also a necessary one and that’s where I come in so f-ck it.  It’s who I am.  But the Old Man…he’s telling me…the words he used…the phrase was…”the entire system is terminal and I can’t save the patient.”  Now he’s talking about the global economy here – that the entire system has been compromised to the point of collapse and he…and people like him who want to save it…they can’t do it alone.  They might be able to…between them…maybe they got access to a couple trillion to move around here and there to try and stabilize things.
UM:  A couple trillion?  That much!
WHI:  No – not personally.  Hell no…he ain’t worth near that personally.  But he’s got – and there’s others…they got access to that amount.  In that neighborhood…he told me that some time ago.  But that would be an all or nothin’ scenario for them…and…now I don’t understand how all that sh-t works…markets…he talks about capitalization…last summer he went on for about an hour about how out of whack the capitalization of something and somethin’ was…I don’t know.  Just that it’s real bad.  And I mean real bad and these Obama people – they are in on it big time.  It ain’t that they are just ignorant or incompetent – it’s purposeful what they are doing.
And when they got rid of that IMF fella – the French guy…I never seen the Old Man so worried.  He’s told the both of us…let us know how dangerous that woman at the IMF is…but he won’t say much about it – but it’s got him damn worried.
UM:  I messed up that last interview – with the Old Man.  My question to the Military Insider.
WHI:  Bullsh-t – you didn’t mess up nothin’.  You really think a guy like that…I don’t think they wanted to be there.  It was a favor to the Old Man – nothing else.  Don’t sweat it.
UM:  They looked like they wanted to kill me.
WHI:  Probably did!  Sure as hell could – in about 2.2 seconds!  (Laughs)
UM:  Wasn’t funny at the time – not at all.
WHI:  You did fine…and frankly…what you asked…I’ve wondered that as well.  Guy like that…got tons of respect for the man.  He’s solid.  No worries.  Been giving us the goods on a lot of stuff going way back – but he’s M.I. to the core. And those people…they think different.  They have to – and they can be damn scary to be around some times.  And he owes the Old Man – and the Old Man likes you.  So it’s all good.
UM:  Why haven’t more in the military – why haven’t they come out against this administration?  You’ve told me, the Old Man has told me…the Military Insider hinted at it – that they know this administration is doing wrong.  Why not come out against them?
WHI:  (Long Pause)  If they came out against the president…something like that – an openly public and deliberate move against the president…that would be a crisis.  A domestic crisis of epic f-cking proportions.  That’s now how these kinda things go down kid.   That’s Hollywood bullsh-t stuff – that’s not reality.
The Joint Chiefs…those guys are politicians as much as Obama.  And the ones right under them – they want that next step up, right?  And the administration, they play that card to the hilt.  Same thing with Congress.  I know for a fact there are Senators – Democrats…who are appalled at what the administration is doing.  Appalled at what they are hearing about the character and motivations of this so-called president.  But to come right out against him…Reid won’t have it.  I don’t know what kinda deal was struck between those two devils – Reid and Obama…but Reid has the Senate on lockdown.  And he’s got most of those Democrats in the Senate too damn afraid to say anything – while the rest of them are happy to support the administration because they are cut from that same idiotic socialist progressive cloth as he is – and they think they will get a seat at the big table when all of this shakes out.
Why do you think I am doing it this way?  Same damn thing.  It’s easy to point the finger and tell somebody to risk everything – not just them  but risk their family…everything they got…real easy to sit back and tell somebody they should stand up and do what’s right and go ahead and risk it.  Right?  Real easy?
    Unless it’s YOU that’s at risk.  Then it’s a different f-cking story ain’t it?
So I’m doin’ what I’m doin’.  The Old Man is doin’ what he’s doin’.  And you do what you do.  And we hope it’s enough.
UM:  Is it?  Will it be enough?  To defeat Obama?
WHI:  The three of us?  Hell no.  Not even close.
UM:  Then what?  What will it take?
WHI:  What it has always taken when the country is at risk – the American people.  We need them.  We always have.  And God’s grace.  If He still gives a sh-t about this country.  If He still thinks we are worth the trouble.  And I ain’t so sure we are – if we deserve to have another chance.
You’re askin’ what it will take to defeat Obama?  Defeat the ones around him?  Jarrett?  Holder?  All of them?  It’s gonna take the American people to wake the f-ck up NOW.  It’s getting to be go time here.  August is when the real race is run…all the way to end.  But Romney…he can’t do it alone.  People out there who say they ain’t so sure about Romney…this ain’t the time to be talking that perfection sh-t.  This ain’t the time to be talking 3rd party candidate bullsh-t.  This ain’t the time to be sittin’ this one out.
This IS the time to pay attention…tell everyone you know…everyone you care about…vote out Obama.  Vote the son-of-a-bitch out.  We got one last chance here to make it right.  That’s what I’m doin’ this for.  I gotta try and make it right – 2008 was…I can’t leave it like this.  I can’t have that be it for me.  Just can’t do it.  So 2012…hell it’s just a few months away now…we gotta do this together.  All of us.  Every last one of us.  I need your readers help.  I need them to speak out to everyone they know.  Every last person they know.  For the love of God get people motivated to do what’s right this election.  None of us can afford to sit this one out.  None of us.
I’ll promise you this…if Obama is defeated this election… If the American people send him on his way…there is gonna be a whole sh-t pile of information coming out on what was really going on inside that White House of his and Jarrett’s.  People will have the guts to speak out – openly.  And they won’t be alone.  They will be able to do it without the fear that hangs over them now – all of us…how scary sh-t is right now.
And when all that truth starts to come out…people…the ones willing to listen and understand…they are gonna realize just how close the country…how close we were to the darkness.  The future that was gonna be ripped away from their kids and grandkids.  And how their votes against Obama saved America.  How they saved that future.  In the end…like I told you…in the end when the country is in real crisis – it always comes down to the American people to save it.
Godd—mit then – let’s get to it.  Let’s save America.

  130. frankly, Rahm, Menino, the whole Chickfla….and Harry Reid BS are making the dimocratic party look UNAMERICAN…accusing a private citizen from the senate floor because of an annonymous sourse…what kind of BS is this?

the dimocratic party of O and the likes of Harry Reid and Pelosi have fallen so far from the shining light they once were…

they now make a mockery out of “innocent until proven guilty”

Who in their right mind wants to give them more power…today it is Romney…tomorrow it could be you…or me…or us…

O and his band of corrupt un-american activists

  131. Admin,

John Steward doesn’t get it. A lot of people were there to support the company’s owners freedom of speech. He always finds a way to bad mouth conservative people that believe marriage should stay between a man and a woman. Most support that gay couples should have full legal rights under the law in all area’s of life, domestic partnership but not “marriage”.

  132. WSI warns Bernanke set to approve QE3 before the elections to help the POS.

Hope this message finds you well. I have recently received confirmation of Ben Bernanke’s intent to initiate a sizeable QE3 just prior to the November election. Whispers of this have been circulating for a number of weeks. It is now confirmed. Bernanke now appears quite motivated to do just that though there will be a fight among some within the FED. Bernanke has the votes though, so his intent will most likely be met with success unless we can counter this intent via other means that I cannot share with you at this time. I am at war with the fiscal beast herself and she is proving a very worthy opponent.

Watch for it. Watch for confirmation of this plan. A QE3 announcement just prior to November could give the man calling himself Obama just enough of a bump to win a closely contested election. It will also further decimate the longer term fiscal health of the nation and the world. Clearly those who surround Obama deem the former to be far more important than the latter.

Barack Obama and Ben Bernanke are now working in unison in an attempt to purchase a second term. There will be those who will argue it will not impact the election. Not so. Those surrounding Obama hope to have QE3 as a tool to buy back support from Wall Street in the final weeks leading to the election. Sadly, there may be some who will cooperate with this “buy back”. Shame on them for doing so. God will make an accounting of their betrayal when they are held in final judgement.

Well, at least we know her mindset by her choices of what are considered truthful/ factual websites. Add Snopes to the list. All are leftist oriented, and personally, I wouldn’t trust Snopes nor Salon. Mother Jones is a blog that I could never get myself to read, and that is because I knew it orientation was avowedly left, and I felt that I would probably want to rip my eyes out after reading it. Salon was another rag that deceived Hillary supporters, imo. I am surprised Firedog Lake wasn’t mentioned as a good source. (snark).

Turndownobama, it was the avid left that fracked Hillary Clinton. I simply do not trust them.

National ‘kiss in’ at Chick-fil-A restaurants – New York News | New York Breaking News | NYC Headlines
    Updated Aug 03 2012 7:27 AM
Gay rights activists and other supporters of same-sex marriage planned a national “Kiss In” at Chick-fil-A restaurants Friday to protest the fast-food chain owners’ support of traditional biblical marriage in an interview with a Baptist publisher.
Participants are encouraged to come to the fast-food chains and kiss a fellow demonstrator of the same sex. One organizer, Carly McGehee of Dallas, said she hopes the event helps gay youths “who feel isolated and are victims of bullying.”

Agreed. I actually just wrote the Romney team via their website about your suggestion. The problem is many of his surrogates are not blunt, that Eric Fenstrom, he came on Fox yesterday, saying something like “Sir, have you no shame?”

what the hell kind of response is this? Of course these people have no shame, they have and will sell anything and everything for power. The dem party has been taken over by these radical lunatics, and I include Reid in that bunch.

Fine, if they don’t want the official people of the campaign doing the dirty work, but where the hell are surrogates like Sununu pointing out exactly what you pointed out… and I went and looked at Reid’s info, you’re right, his son runs his real estate business that’s made millions of his daddy’s name. How the hell do you become a multimillionaire without actually working???!!

  137. About that Reid mess.
John McCain’s already vouched for 20 years of Romney’s back tax returns. So not only is Reid accusing Mitt of being a criminal, he’s also pretty much calling out McCain as a liar. 👿

  138. Pelosi on releasing her income tax return
When I run for president of the United States, you can hold me to that standard,” she told reporters Thursday.
The House Democratic leader and former speaker made the comment when pressed about a new report that found most members of Congress are keeping their own returns secret. McClatchy newspapers requested tax returns from all members of Congress, but only 17 provided the documents. Nineteen reportedly told McClatchy they would not release the returns, while the rest didn’t reply at all.

  139. Tim…that’s great…hope they notice it or Mr Adelson…calling Mr Adelson…get on it…

holdthemaccountable…(boy, your name really hits the nail on the head these days)

I tried to view that video and it kept stopping…however I saw a rep supporting the gay community on, I think, CNN this morning…and sorry this is not going to really help the cause…a kiss in in a restaurant…it comes across juvenile, self centered and indulgent with so many problems going on…and backfiring when it threatens jobs of innocent people…

I support gay rights, time for maturity, not time to be silly and cause actions that will alienate people who might really listen to what you are saying…

yes, i remember that…that’s when Pelosi started to back off…getting a little too close to her skin i guess…

but just like that article I posted above from tbogg and Harry’s game…again so smug…they think they have MR cornered…time to turn the tables again…and don’t let up…because once we start asking for their tax returns people will start thinking…’you mean, Reid, Pelosi, and the rest of them…many becoming multi millionaries and in charge of policy and tax policy…and they don’t have to provide their tax returns?

    what are THEY HIDING?

  142. foxyladi…that is cute…but time to really turn up the heat…

seriously, why are the senate and house members not required to provide their tax returns…they are in power…Romney is just a candidate…

what is good for the goose is good for the gander…

“Senator Reid and Pelosi, show us your tax returns or shut up, what are you hiding?”

supposedly there is there there with Reid, his son, pelosi and her husband…if they want to cite anonymous sources then turn it back on them…

I just do not hear a big, strong rapid response…and we need it…

  143. “Stewart saved his serious point for the end: that the widespread acceptance of same-sex marriage is inevitable.”

I don’t think it will. One of my investors in my former business was gay, quite honestly he and his partner of 32 years, and this really surprised me, did not care for “gay marriage”, they were more concerned about legal rights afforded to them along the line of marriage, they did not care if it was called “civil unions” or “gay marriage”, and on that point I found myself agreeing with them. I also had collegues who did not agree redefining marriage to be other that 1 man/woman, they had no issues with “civil unions” and extending legal protections to the investor who was gay, it was a pain, because without those legal protections, the contracts of beneficiaries became more cumbersome for our gay investor, especially for his partner and their family, because their commitment to each other was not really recognized, in legal terms, so we had to draw up somewhat more contracts, as individuals, not as a 2-person unit.

Which at that point, I started backing the idea of civil unions, the states that are fine with calling it “gay marriage”, fine, but the states that don’t have it and will never have it, I’m not sure how laws can change how people will think, so if at least not calling it “marriage” takes that redefinition off the table, and it gets to the heart of what is being argued, legal rights, legal protections, and most people who don’t want marriage redefined I’ve seen seem to have a not that much of a problem with extending those same legal rights to gays/les, they just don’t want “marriage” redefined, and I can understand that point of view. Because I’ve also seen those that don’t back redefinition of marriage, no law will change their mind. Legal rights, protections are at the heart of this issue, imho.

As for chickfila thing, I know several gay friends who went to support the company’s right to express himself, didn’t agree with the man, but his right to believe what he believes. The whole kiss-in thing seems very silly. Instead of talking to others who disagree with them, bullying people into thinking how you do will never work, neither will calling them bigots etc. Most people know someone who is gay, so instead of getting to the heart of the matter, legal rights, all this silly kiss-in theatre is not fruitfull and people are getting tired of it.

    The Romney Democrats
A bipartisan coalition backs Mitt’s tax policy in the House.
You wouldn’t know it from the lack of media coverage, but the House of Representatives voted to block a tax increase on Wednesday with a big bipartisan majority. No fewer than 19 Democrats broke with Nancy Pelosi and voted with Republicans to extend the current rates on all taxpayers for another year. The bill passed 256-171, despite heavy White House pressure on the Democratic back-benchers to toe the party line. Republicans lost only one Member, who as it happens is leaving Congress this year. 145. And Stewart is a spineless idiot, last week when this whole uproar was there, he made some comment on how if Boston’s insane mayor wants CFA out of his town, how out of touch is dan cathy.

Now Stewart, one week later calls out the 3 mayors for threatening to shut down chick-fila. John Stewart is gutless wonder who sometimes gets it right, he’s trying his best to get ratings back to what they were during Bush’s term. But he can’t because he’s not a real unbiased comedian, and he can’t even see it.

  146. I hope the GOP makes very clear where all that stimulus money went during those four years…I think one of the superpacs had something on the air for a little while…but nothing like the onslaught we are getting from the O camp in Florida…

that O ad with the woman talking about how “scared” she is to be a woman because of big, bad Romney plays CONSTANTLY…and I mean, constantly, in Florida…every few minutes…on all stations…(i find it so offensive how the O camp is manipulating women…like women should be scared to live their lives without O in charge…the O camp uses women in the most despicable way)

Romney is barely on the air yet here…some ads…but no saturation yet…

Homosexuals have always had the exact same rights as heterosexuals, that is, the right to marry a person of the opposite sex.
ROFL! Actually, that’s an argument that Obama’s administration used to support some anti-gay measure — Prop 8 iirc?

I don’t really care who used the argument. You can roll around laughing on the floor all you like, but you can not deny that the statement is correct.

  148. I listened to Romney’s speech at NV today coming on CSPAN radio while driving. He had great lines.. one of them was he described their first offices when they started Staples, like just the back of a warehouse kind of place with old furniture and things like that. He contrasted that with Solyndra and told the crowd how they built a Taj Mahal using govt money and asked where are they now? It was a good speech and crowd went wild.

  149. I’m laughing, look what the Dems in Tennessee did

The Tennessee Democratic Party today disavowed its Senate nominee, Mark Clayton, saying he is “associated with a known hate group.”

“The only time that Clayton has voted in a Democratic primary was when he was voting for himself,” the party said in a news release. “Many Democrats in Tennessee knew nothing about any of the candidates in the race, so they voted for the person at the top of the ticket. Unfortunately, none of the other Democratic candidates were able to run the race needed to gain statewide visibility or support.

“Mark Clayton is associated with a known hate group in Washington, D.C., and the Tennessee Democratic Party disavows his candidacy, will not do anything to promote or support him in any way, and urges Democrats to write-in a candidate of their choice in November.”

The statement did not identify the hate group, but party spokesman Sean Braisted said it is Public Advocate USA, which was designated as “an anti-gay hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center in March. A story on the center’s web site says Public Advocate USA “has spread lies and vitriol about LGBT people to raise funds, impede progress toward greater equality and to deny LGBT people basic dignity and respect.”

Clayton easily won the seven-candidate Democratic primary on Thursday, drawing nearly twice as many votes as his closest challenger. He will face U.S. Sen. Bob Corker, a first-term Republican, in November.

The Tennessee Democratic Party tweeted this afternoon that it’s encouraging Democrats to “write-in the name of their choosing.”

Have you ever seen such complete stupidity and ineptness. They had no idea who was running in their Primary?

  150. “They had no idea who was running in their Primary?”

moon, hell they didn’t have any idea who was running for president in 2008! They had a known quantity in Hillary and went instead with some unknown idiot who as Palin accurately put it “hung around pals like Bill Ayers and Rev Wright”.

  151. I’m confused, so he’s still on the ballot, correct? but the party is telling people not to vote for the candidate of their party?!?

  152. Saw a little pop-up a while ago about the Department of Labor ruling today that that those defense contractors that are going to have lay off people right after the election (I think because of sequestration) don’t have to give them 60 days notice. There was some kind of rule or law or something where they were going to have to give the workers that were going to be laid off 60 days notice and now they don’t have to which people are saying was done so it would give Obama an advantage in the election. Now the workers don’t know if they’re going to be laid off or not until after the election.

  153. I guess if they vote for Obama anyway and they get laid off it would serve them right. Wouldn’t have anyone to be mad at except themselves.

  154. LOL.

“The Republican National Committee mocked President Barack Obama on Friday, sending a cake to the Democratic National Committee with a backhanded message commemorating Obama’s upcoming birthday.

“You didn’t bake this,” reads text on the cake, which is vanilla with vanilla frosting, according to Yahoo! News. It’s a reference to Obama’s “you didn’t build that” remark last month, which he made while talking about the need to maintain investments in domestic infrastructure for the good of businesses.”

  155. See, that’s what people misunderestimate about Romney. He didn’t get rich by being dumb. Be prepared, know your target and act swiftly when the timing is right. Bam! Right in the jugular.
I love how this is all coming together. 🙂

  156. To insure the lies continue…state run newspapers get a helping hand…at least till election time!

Charity Cases: Left Wing Ford Foundation Grants Washington Post a Half Million, LA Times a Full Million
Perhaps the news fashion is simply a manner of appeasing their patrons, then.

  157. man oh man, I just to wikipedia to read up on Harry Reid, the man has never held a real job, never created anything, just an influence peddler.

So on one hand we have a man like romney who made his money creating companies – staples etc- and got rich that way, and on the other hand a man who has been in politics for nearly 40 years, all levels of govt, never actually worked a real job and is a multi multi millionare, how the hell does this happen?

I guess if they vote for Obama anyway and they get laid off it would serve them right. Wouldn’t have anyone to be mad at except themselves.

Sequestration takes effect January 2, 2013. 500 billion across the board cuts in Defense.

The WARN Act requires a 60 day notice to employees in a layoff. Guess what? Tens of thousands of pink-slips will be issued November 2nd, 2012, 5 days before the General Election. The Labor department is pressuring the defense contractors not to give notice of these mass impending notices.

Yheitman, trust me, no one in the Defense industry is voting for the POShit Obama.

  159. Wet wipes the floor with the POS over his move to limit military voting in Ohio.

how dare this President compare the service, sacrifice, and commitment of those who Guard our liberties not as special and seek to compare them to everyone else. Barack Obama is undeserving of the title Commander-in-Chief.”

West’s statement is in response to the Obama campaign last month calling Ohio’s early voting law “unconstitutional.” As Bloomberg reported then:

Obama for America, the U.S. president’s re-election campaign committee, sued two Ohio officials over changes to state law that limit in-person early voting for some people and not others.

  160. I saw this at Ace’s site. No wonder the lamestream media as Palin calls it is a joke. Its only got more obvious in their propoganda, and they can’t figure out why people don’t trust them or watch/read them any longer.

That’s the point. All this extra paperwork is bad enough in an investment situation where there is plenty of time and money to take care of it. But it’s worse when what’s involved is making medical decisions or inheritance or child custody. That’s why the neat, legally clear term ‘marriage’ needs to be extended to gays as well.

Ideally, we should have two or three factcheck/debunk sites to consult, with different slants. What site would you suggest for the rightwing slant?

  163. “Pretty sure you can’t outlaw a company with perfectly legal business practices because you find their CEO’s views repellant. Not sure which amendment covers that, but it’s probably in the top one,” Stewart said.

It’s ridiculous — so the mayors DID NOT threaten to outlaw CFA. Either Stewart didn’t do his homework, or he doesn’t mind vilifying innocent targets.

  164. Wot? Hollywood turning on Obama?

Clint Eastwood endorsing Romney’s presidential bid

SUN VALLEY, Idaho (AP) — Clint Eastwood just made Mitt Romney’s day.

The Oscar-winning director and longtime movie star says he’s endorsing the Republican presidential candidate.

Eastwood tells The Associated Press that he’s backing Romney because, in Eastwood’s words, “I think the country needs a boost.”

Eastwood was among those attending a Romney fundraiser Friday night in Sun Valley, Idaho.

Unprofessional CNN Reporter at Chicago Tea Party Rudely Attacks Man’s Opinion: Insults Tax Parties, Protesters, and Fox News
I thought I seen the lowest forms of biased journalism, until today. Susan Rosen stooped lower than any journalist has stooped to kiss the liberal agenda’s butt. Consider Rosen’s report at the Chicago tea party today as she asks a question, lets the man begin to answer, then challenges his opinion, and finally shoves her opinion down the throats of this gentleman and the viewers. (Does CNN still have viewers? Last I looked even Keith Olbermann attracted more viewers.)

There is no excuse for this. She obviously hates conservatives, and her hatred doesn’t get any clearer as she closes her story. She is a disgrace to journalism. Rosen needs to get in the back of the unemployment line, but of course we are talking about CNN and this is the kind of idiot they love to promote. Hey Rosen, if you gave five minutes to watching FOX, you might acutally learn how to conduct an interview and show some respect.

These people were having a peaceful protest and she causes the conflict. Listen to how she tries to save herself as she closes the interview. She tries to make it appear that the protesters are the ones with problems, but they didn’t attack this rude CNN reporter.

Obviously Rosen is too stupid to realize this man and his little boy will work to pay off the $50 billion she claims the Land of Lincoln gets in stimulus money. Of course Rosen probably thinks the money grows on trees. Rosen has attacked every tax payer in this country today.

You’re right. What a bitch! I heard NBC was worse. I haven’t seen anything yet though. I am watching O’Reilly now waiting to see if he plays that clip.

Great post! Heard about this “reporter” from a friend in Chicago who was at the Tea Party. Searched the web for the video (or at least a news report) and found your blog. Great work. I blogged about it here:

The thing she failed to mention is that the $50bn she is so proudly talking about is OUR money, your money, my money! Taxation is slavery and this Government is moving ever nearer to socialism in the USA. When Obama talks about “fairness” he’s talking directly about blatant redistribution of wealth – taking the words right out of the mouth of Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto. Wake up America before its to late!

Susan Rosen is the typical liberal-biased CNN reporter- arrogant, incompetent, ignorant, and prejudiced, but at least she didn’t try to hide. Rather than report on the event, she had preconceived opinion to prove. She should return to her echo chamber of Obama disciples rather than pretend to be a legitimate news reporter.

Catch Shep Smith’s response on Fox. It was great. Made me laugh!

    Ron Paul 2012!

  166. Alcina I saw that the 60 days notice before a layoff is no longer in effect:

Labor Department Waives 60-Day Layoff Notice to Help Obama Win in November

On Thursday, Democrats in the Senate blocked an attempt by Republicans to enforce a provision of a 1980s law requiring all contractors doing business with the federal government to send out notices of potential layoffs four days before the presidential election in November.

By a vote of 17-13 the Senate Appropriations Committee voted against an amendment offered by Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) that would have overridden a policy directive issued earlier this week by the Labor Department informing federal contractors that they may ignore the law and not send out preemptive pink slips to their employees.

The law in question is called the WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice) Act and per the applicable provision of that statute, employers must “provide notice 60 days in advance of covered plant closings and covered mass layoffs. This notice must be provided to either affected workers or their representatives (e.g., a labor union); to the State dislocated worker unit; and to the appropriate unit of local government.”
