The Greatest Republican Ad Evahhhh

The Greatest Republican Ad Evahh is about a tedious issue debunked by Fact Check. Romney “outsourcer in chief” claims? Yawn. Bain Capital is dull but it has produced the greatest Republican ad ever.

Bain Capital? Yawn. Can’s we discuss something more exciting. We have yet to discuss the Fast & Furious contempt citation by the House of Representatives against Eric Withholder. We have not yet touched on the latest developments such as E-mails reveal retaliation, cover-up at ATF, DoJ following Fast & Furious exposure. There’s also something else, something more exciting that everyone wants to discuss. Bain is a yawn.

The Obama health scam ruling by the Supreme Court is still top of the charts. Many are taking issue with our point of view on this. Roberts pulled off one of the great constitutional finesses of all time and politically gave Barack Obama a radioactive enema but that apparently is not enough for some. They did not get their pony for Mandate-mas so they are petulant, upset, churlish. Well that’s not exactly fair.

Most of the critiques are well thought out and reasoned – but wrong. Our evaluation on the current political/legal situation will be published soon.

We’ll be proven right in years to come and the left will eventually bemoan the Obama health scam ruling and conservatives will see it as a Thurgoodian pool game that set the table up for them. We stated well before the decision came down that Obama was in a lose/lose situation. The Obama health scam was not struck down but Obama is still in a lose scenario. Right now though Coral Sea conservatives are determined to stomp their feet and be angry that Mitt Romney is not the right messenger, that their guy (or Bachmann) would be better against Barack Obama on health care.

We too warned, in hot language against Mitt Romney – particularly on the issue of health care. But for all the defects and boringness of Mitt Romney let’s give him his due – Romney is running a smart campaign.

Right around this time in 2009 we wrote an article called The Republican Secret Weapon – Hillary Clinton. John McCain failed to use the weapon in 2008. Mitt Romney has picked up the weapon and already fired some warning shots.

* * * * * *

There are a lot of Republican ads coming out this year. Most of them are ineffective. Most of them play Obama audio of something stupid he has said then follow-up with mocking/clever refutations in text form. This is “creative class” DailyKooks level stupidity. Paying to propagate Obama’s own words without a verbal substantive attack only helps Obama.

The way many people watch ads, even Internet ads, is by using their eyes and ears. Yes, the primary stimulus is visual, but surrendering the auditory line of attack and providing Barack Obama the audio propagation of his message is counterproductive.

Televised ads are even more dangerous when this clever/mocking tactic is employed. Television ads are often heard, not seen. When commercials come on many people are waking around or doing other things. It’s only when something heard pricks up your ears that you rush to the TV and look. So fix up these ads Rove, you’re wasting money.

Mitt Romney has a very effective ad airing in Ohio that fits in beautifully with what we discussed in our 2009 article The Republican Secret Weapon – Hillary Clinton.

The attack line which is heard and seen in the ad comes from the Secret Weapon herself:

“A new ad from former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney uses a clip of Hillary Clinton to say “Shame on you, Barack Obama.

The ad starts with quotes from the Post’s Factchecker deeming a recent anti-Romney ad misleading, unfair and untrue. That ad attacked Romney as an outsourcer. It came out before the recent Washington Post article on Romney’s record at Bain Capital, relying instead on the then-governor’s veto of a bill that would have barred Massachusetts from contracting with companies that outsourced.

“But that’s Barack Obama,” the narrator says. “He also attacked Hillary Clinton with vicious lies.”

The ad then cuts to a video clip from 2008, when Clinton attacked her then-rival Obama for mailers claiming she called the North American Free Trade Agreement a “boon” for the economy. (Clinton never actually used that word). “Shame on you, Barack Obama,” Clinton says in the footage.

The Romney campaign has tried to drive a wedge between Obama and the Clintons before, trying to peel off voters who have fond feelings towards the last Democratic president. Given that Hillary Clinton is now Obama’s Secretary of State, it seems likely that someone in her circle will respond.”

The response is not so secret cheers from the Hillary Clinton circle.

Compare what we wrote in 2009 and this description of the ad from the Washington Post, “But that’s Barack Obama,” the narrator says. “He also attacked Hillary Clinton with vicious lies.” This is what we wrote in 2009:

“What we found interesting was how Andrea Tantaros bolstered her argument when she invoked the name of Hillary Clinton as one who had been targeted by the same forces of ignorance and bullying. Those ignorant bullies parade about as forces of knowledge and understanding but we now know them for what they really are.

Republicans and Conservatives should take a clue from Ms Tantaros – utilize the history of the 2008 primaries and what was done to Hillary Clinton to expose the intolerant bullies who pose as progressives.

Sean Hannity in particular constantly attacks Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton in ugly, gratuitous ways. Hannity is living in the 1990s. Even the biggest Bill and Hillary haters, such as Richard Mellon Scaife, now recognize they were fools drunk with destructive Clinton hate. Hannity would make a stronger case against Barack Obama if he would invoke the nastiness of the Obama campaign against Hillary and stop the nastiness against Hillary himself.

Some Republicans will fan the flames of Hillary hatred. These are Republicans who are afraid of Sarah Palin and do not want to do anything that might help women, such as attack sexism and misogyny.

Other Republicans will finally realize that the stale Bill Clinton jokes on late night television will now be augmented by attacks on Republicans and fools like John “Are You My Daddy?” Edwards. But Barack Obama will be protected by his Big Media masters.”

Every time a Republican/conservative vents his/her spleen in E/I stupidity against the Clintons, Barack Obama smiles. Donald Trump understood what we wrote back in 2009:

“On May 7, 2009 we advised the secret weapon be unleashed. Trump does just that very thing in this interview.

Who ran the most negative campaign? Against whom? Against what woman and against what men?

Four minutes into the interview Trump lays it out, hits it out of the ballpark. Who ran the most negative campaign?

Clinton hater Sean Hannity finally discards his silly Bill Clinton impressions and learns from The Donald how to use the secret weapon – four minutes and ten seconds into the interview.

Sean Hannity has long been an E/I conservative. With this interview Hannity demonstrates he can become an I/E conservative. “Intelligence over Emotion“.

Who was the “least racist person” who was race-baited by Barack Obama? Ask Sean Hannity. Ask Donald Trump. Ask Bill Clinton. Ask Hillary Clinton.

Tonight Mormon Mitt Romney will likely win a big victory in the heavily Mormon populated state of Nevada. How much easier will it be for Mormon Mitt Romney to be smeared as a “racist”?

The “least racist person”, Bill Clinton was smeared as a “racist” by Barack Obama. We Hillary Clinton supporters, many of whom organized and worked for years to community organize in black neighborhoods and fought more for civil rights than Barack Obama ever did, were smeared as “racists” by Barack Obama and his Chicago thugs. How much easier will it be for Mormon Mitt Romney to be smeared as a “racist”?

Trump understands what we are talking about. He is an I/E businessman. Mitt Romney is showing signs of full out I/E:

“New Romney Ad Features Hillary Clinton Saying ‘Shame On You, Barack Obama’

In a new TV ad running in Ohio, Mitt Romney‘s campaign features a somewhat unexpected politician attacking President Barack Obama: Hillary Clinton, the current Secretary of State and former Obama rival. According to POLITICO, the ad uses 2008 footage in which Clinton said, “Shame on you, Barack Obama.”

The footage is from Clinton’s campaign stop in Ohio with then-Gov. Ted Strickland. At the time, she had denounced Obama and his campaign for “perpetuating falsehoods.” The clip is meant to convey that Obama’s attacks against Romney are “just not true.” That he used the same kinds of “vicious lies” against former opponent Clinton.

Specifically, the ad notes the Washington Post‘s “Fact Checker” response to Obama’s previous ads that singled out what their campaign claims is Romney’s record as an outsourcer. The Post gave the ads four Pinocchios.

The ad’s script, via POLITICO:

NARRATOR: Barack Obama’s attacks against Mitt Romney: they’re just not true. The Washington Post says, ‘On just about every level, this ad is misleading, unfair and untrue.’ But that’s Barack Obama. He also attacked Hillary Clinton with vicious lies.

CLINTON (file footage): He continues to spend millions of dollars perpetuating falsehoods.

NARRATOR: Mitt Romney has a plan to get America working. Barack Obama? Worst job record since the Depression.

CLINTON (file footage): So shame on you, Barack Obama.

ROMNEY (voice-over): I’m Mitt Romney and I approved this message.”

This Mitt Romney ad is smart on three levels. Smart #1: because it employs our “secret weapon” strategy.

Smart #2: because it puts Obama’s attacks into a greater narrative that Obama is a filthy liar who smears his political opponents.

Smart #3: because it does not yet deploy the best and most effective Romney retort against the Obama Bain attacks – Bill Clinton. A strong response on Bain from Romney will come not now, as we approach the July 4 holiday and the Summer vacation season. After Labor Day Mitt Romney will deploy ads with Cory Booker, Deval Patrick and Bill Clinton defending Mitt Romney’s business acumen and Bain Capital. Bill Clinton will be deployed to devastating effect by Mitt Romney after Labor Day and not just on Bain Capital.

But those ads are for after Labor Day. They will be modeled on the Greatest Republican Ad Evahhh:

It’s A Tax!!!!!! (Video Included)

Update: It’s a TAX!!!! Not the Commerce Clause, but tax and spend. Mandate upheld: what now?:

“The opinion actually ruled that the mandate violates the Commerce Clause, but as a tax that no longer matters.

It’s an interesting argument, but one that should have Americans worried.  Basically, this is a tax that you have to pay to private companies.  For all of the screaming the Right did over single-payer — and for good, outcome-based reasons — at least the taxes raised to fund it would go directly to government.  The Supreme Court has signed off on what is, in very practical terms, a tax levied by the insurance industry on Americans simply for existing.  It’s an amazing, and fearsome, decision that really should have both Right and Left horrified. [snip]

By the way, don’t forget when Obama insisted that this wasn’t a tax, via Patterico:

So what now?  Mitt Romney and Republicans can now run on repeal as a big issue in the campaign.  They should emphasize the tax argument when they do, because this tax hits em>everyone.  The ruling may alleviate some of the bad polling the ACA has received, but probably not by much.  It’s going to remain deeply unpopular for the next few months.  On top of that, the decision to uphold the law also means that the fight is still on over the HHS contraception mandate.  We can expect the Catholic bishops to keep up the pressure on the Obama administration’s attempt to define religious expression for the purpose of controlling and limiting it — and we can probably expect the challenge to it to reach the Supreme Court, too.

This started off as a political fight, though, and it’s now clear that it has to get resolved as a political fight.

——————————————————————————————

The Commerce Clause has been clipped. Medicaid Expansion might be destroyed and the states might be able to kill the entire stinking mess. But the Obama Health Scam has been upheld. Upheld! Why? Because it’s a TAX! It’s a SCAM as we said all along. It’s a TAX even though Obama said “Read my lips, it’s not a tax.”

Read what we wrote on March 24, 2010:

“It’s Not A Mandate – It’s A Tax!”:

“It’s not a mandate – it’s a tax! We’re not the ones saying it. It’s the Obama defense. It’s a tax.

Obama promised his version of “Read My Lips – No New Taxes” during the primary and general election campaign. Obama attacked his opponents and said he would never raise taxes for those making less than $250,000. But now “It’s a Tax!” is the Obama defense.

* * * * * *

[snip]

Yale’s Jack Balkin anticipated some of the arguments the Attorneys General would pursue. Here is Balkin’s defense of the Obama health scam, from a legal perspective:
“Second, it is not actually a mandate. It is a tax, which people would not have to pay if they purchased health insurance. The House bill imposes a tax of 2.5% on adjusted gross income if a taxpayer is not part of a qualified health insurance program. The Senate bill imposes what is called an “excise tax” — a tax on transactions or events — or a “penalty tax” — a tax for failing to do something (e.g., filing your tax return promptly). The tax is levied for each month that an individual fails to pay premiums into a qualified health plan.”
It’s a tax. “Read my lips” Obama style:

The IRS will be the enforcer. It’s a tax.

Barack Obama attacked Hillary Clinton and John McCain and Sarah Palin by declaring one or all of them were too divisive whereas he would be “a uniter not a divider”, he would pass health care with a ton of bipartisan votes, they were for taxes and he would not raise taxes for those making less than $250,000, they were for mandates whereas he was against mandates, they were for taxing health insurance plans whereas he was against raising taxes on health insurance plans, they would penalize those who did not buy health insurance he would not…. Lies all.

This all goes to show:
Obama simply cannot be trusted. Obama cannot be trusted on any issue. Obama cannot be trusted by his friends. Obama cannot be trusted by his enemies. Obama cannot be trusted.

* * * * * *

Mandate-mas III, the Finale is a gold chunk because the Commerce Clause as a rationale is a failed argument. But it is a TAX!

The states probably have an opt out because the Supreme Court has gutted the Medicaid Expansion. But little consolation – IT’S A TAX!

To the Voting Booth!

Apocalypse Now! – With Predictions

Update II: This video is very appropriate as we near D.C. at 10:00 a.m. Check out the unemployment and real, not phony OWS style demonstrations:

——————————————————————————————

Update: We’re not the only ones with predictions this morning. Predictions are coming in from everywhere. For some it is Festivus meets Christmas meets Fitzmas. Open thread: Mandate-mas III, the Finale

“If I was a betting man, I’d probably go the same way.  I think there’s still a decent chance that the court might uphold it, but a slightly better chance that the whole thing will get tossed, more out of convenience than anything else, but the mandate will still be the key.

Of course, if that happens, be prepared for a full-court meltdown among the Left, where the argument has already arisen that the Roberts Court is the Most Activististist Court Evah, with Jeffrey Toobin and (Politico’s) Roger Simon leading the way.  Gabriel Malor demolished this argument on Twitter yesterday, and he compiled his rebuttal into a blog post this morning:”

We’ll know soon enough if there is a lump coal in the stocking or a lump of gold from a melted golden calf.

——————————————————————————————

It’s going to be an update kind of day. We do feel safe in making several predictions. We’ll make those predictions here and we will likely have several articles posted today.

Prediction: The next Supreme Court Justice will be Paul Clement. Clement is the unofficial Solicitor General for the political opposition. When Mitt Romney wins – the young, able, intelligent, hero of conservatives, will be on the Supreme Court where he has argued so many cases.

Prediction: It’s going to be a bad day for Barack Obama. The most he can hope for is that the hated Obama health care scam is upheld by the court. This will enrage opponents of “HellCare”. It will be Apocalyptic Panic At The Black Hole.

The real Game Changer, right Mark?

If the Supreme Court rules against key parts of HellCare then Katie, don’t bother locking the door because the gates of Hell will open against Barack Obama.

After the Supreme Court decision comes in the Eric Withholder contempt vote in the House of Representatives (more on that later) will erupt. It’s going to be a bad day at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Michelle Obama will leave no sleeve behind.

Prediction: Big Media will erupt in defense of their Golden Calf. Already we hear “Our Supreme Court has lost its honor“. This isn’t really a prediction it’s standard operating procedure for Big Media.

Prediction: Logic tells us that the Supreme Court will strike down the Obama Health Scam root and branch. But anything is possible. We certainly would not listen to the idiocy from Laurence Tribe: I think my former student, John Roberts, will vote to uphold ObamaCare. Clearly Chief Justice John Roberts has not exactly been a protege of Tribe. So, ignore Tribe. Listen to the war drums coming from the Teepees of the opposition to Obama.

Prediction: We were right about Junemageddon. August will be worse.

The Meaning Of The Supreme Court Arizona Immigration Law Ruling For NOvember

Update: A while back we advised, “Stay Focused Mittens!” Let Romney supporters engage against major and minor distractions that Obama is throwing, like spaghetti, on the wall to see what sticks. But Romney should stay focused.

As we wrote below, thus far Romney is focused and remains focused on the economy. That is exactly the right thing to do. But some like Byron York are not happy at Romney’s responses today. The most said by Romney on the Arizona case: I wish the Court would let states have more latitude on immigration.

Byron York wants more:On Monday, Mitt Romney had the perfect opportunity to align himself with the conservative — and popular — side of the question, and declined to take it.”

York is right that the popular side of the argument is with Arizona lawmakers. But if Romney lets Obama leash him to this distraction like a blind dog Romney will then have his leash yanked at every distraction and then Obama will eat him. Stay focused Mittens!

—————————————————————————————–

A lot of people did not know, still don’t know, what to make of today’s Supreme Court decision. We Hermione Jean Granger‘s (and oddly enough Mitt Romney) have our waving hands up in the air whispering “ooh, ooh, I know, I know.”

Big Media in particular was divided on what to say about the Arizona decision. MSNBC went with “High Court Strikes Down Key Parts of Ariz. Immigration Law.” The Hill headlined “Supreme Court Gives Split Verdict On Arizona Immigration Law.” CNN hit with “Blow To Immigration Law.” The New York Times declared “Justices Uphold Key Part Of Arizona Law.” DailyCaller wrote “‘Show Me Your Papers’ Upheld.” Fox News had “Supreme Court Reins In Arizona On Immigration.” Huffington Post wrote “AZ Immigration Law ‘Gutted’.” National Journal said “High Court Upholds ‘Show Me Your Papers’.” “Court Upholds Key Part Of Arizona Law” was The Wall Street Journal‘s take. “Court Rejects Part Of Arizona Immigration Law” stated the Washington Post. Politico’s headline was “SCOTUS Clears Key Part Of Ariz. Immigration Law.” David Gergen admitted “I’m not sure what to make of it at this point.”

The Professor thinks the key part is the Court upholding the key part of the law. SCOTUSblog thinks the entire law is gone, if not now, eventually.

We agree with all of the, on their face contradictory, headlines.

Politico’s Josh Gerstein had this to say in his assessment of today’s ruling:

“The Supreme Court on Monday rejected a constitutional challenge to a central provision of Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration law, clearing the path for similar legislation to take effect in other states and potentially angering Latinos in a way that could give President Barack Obama an added boost from Hispanic voters in November.

That provision, requiring police to conduct immigration checks on individuals they arrest or merely stop for questioning whom they suspect are in the U.S. illegally, does not appear to violate the Constitution by intruding on the federal government’s powers to control immigration, the court said.

All eight justices who ruled on the case voted to allow the mandatory immigration-check requirement to go into effect. They split on three other disputed provisions of the law, with a majority of the justices ruling that each of those parts of the law could not be enforced because they intruded improperly into a policy sphere reserved to the federal government. Justice Elena Kagan did not participate in the ruling.

The justices said further legal challenges to the mandatory immigration check provision can go forward after that part of the law takes effect.”

Gerstein is correct that all the voting Justices unanimously ruled that the laws’ main pillar, immigration checks, do not intrude on federal power and that there will be lawsuits the moment Arizona performs the first immigration check. Those soon to be filed lawsuits are why Obama and Napolitano attempted today to screw the pooch:

“The Obama administration said Monday it is suspending existing agreements with Arizona police over enforcement of federal immigration laws, and said it has issued a directive telling federal authorities to decline many of the calls reporting illegal immigrants that the Homeland Security Department may get from Arizona police. [snip]

That means police statewide can immediately begin calling to check immigration status — but federal officials are likely to reject most of those calls.

Federal officials said they’ll still perform the checks as required by law but will respond only when someone has a felony conviction on his or her record. Absent that, ICE will tell the local police to release the person.

In short, what this means is that, like with the recent executive order by Barack Obama, the rule of law is out the window and Barack Obama will do as he pleases.

“As Obama pleases” is not what the American people want. The DailyKooks and the Obama Hopium Guzzlers of 2007/2008 constantly attacked the “unitary executive”. But now the corruption which passes as the “left” will support every power grab by Obama. But the DailyKooks are a small minority from a rubber room

In polls most Americans supported the Arizona immigration law and most Americans will continue to support the immigration checks Arizona will now conduct. But, as Josh Gerstein opines, will today’s Supreme Court ruling mean “ potentially angering Latinos in a way that could give President Barack Obama an added boost from Hispanic voters in November?

Consider today’s poll news. Gallup: Economy, not immigration, key to Hispanic vote.

U.S. Hispanics prioritize immigration, healthcare, and unemployment to equal degrees, according to a new USA Today/Gallup poll asking about the importance of six national policy issues. Twenty percent of Hispanics each mention one of the top three issues as mattering most to them, while 17% name economic growth, 11% name the gap between the rich and poor, and 7% name the federal budget deficit. Hispanic registered voters, however, put healthcare and all economic issues before immigration, which 12% name as their most important issue. …

USA Today/Gallup asked the same issue-importance question of all Americans in Gallup Daily tracking interviews from June 13-14. Among all Americans and U.S. registered voters, healthcare, economic growth, and the federal deficit roughly tie as the most important issues, while immigration ranks last among both groups of Americans.

All Obama will get from his tricks, panders, deceptions will be outrage from the majority of voters and a “blah” from those he courts with unconstitutional vigor. As we wrote, “Latinos are not stupid.”

Mitt Romney is not stupid either. Romney issued an anodyne statement on the Supreme Court ruling – while he was in Arizona:

“Mitt Romney on Monday said states have a duty and a right to secure their borders even as he called for a bipartisan national immigration strategy.

The likely Republican nominee did not address the merits of the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down key parts of Arizona’s tough immigration enforcement law. But he used it as an opportunity to criticize President Barack Obama for inaction on immigration reform until recently.

This represents yet another broken promise by this president. I believe that each state has the duty – and the right – to secure our borders and preserve the rule of law, particularly when the federal government has failed to meet its responsibilities,” Romney said in a written statement released before he left Salt Lake City to fly to a planned fundraiser in Arizona.”

Romney will only issues written statements when it comes to distraction after distraction that Barack Obama and his Chicago henchmen DREAM up. Mitt Romney is going to focus on the economy. It is no surprise to us that Romney is borrowing from Bill Clinton’s 1992 slogan “Putting People First”. Romney has a banner at his events which state “Putting Jobs First.”

The lesson from today is that if you are happy with Obama acting like a king and issuing edicts and fatwas, vote for him in November. The American people are against the Fast & Furious executive privilege edict. New poll: Obama’s executive-privilege assertion not as popular as WH imagined. The American People are not stupid when presented with the facts.

The lesson from today is: If you want the federal government and the executive branch to faithfully execute the law then vote Obama out and today will be just a bad memory.

Contemptible! – America Needs A Platoon Of Special Prosecutors From Seal Team Six

This election cycle we are constantly astounded at the stupidity and cowardice from Republicans/conservatives. We are less surprised by the stupidity and hypocrisy from the Obama worship DailyKooks.

On the right side of the aisle the stupidity and cowardice manifests itself with pearl clutchers who gnaw their nails and upchuck their meals worrying that Barack Obama is so brilliant that he is setting a trap for them with his Executive Privilege claim. Not realizing that good governance is good politics these worrywarts faint every time they hear the Fast & Furious scandal gaining traction.

We recognize and have written that “On issue after issue, Mitt Romney should steer clear and stay focused on the economy (as he has mostly been doing).” But come on, the Fast & Furious scandal deserves thorough investigation as fast and furiously as possible.

Mittens should stay focused on the economy but congressional investigators should focus microscopes on the armaments the American government slithered to Mexican drug lords. But that will not be enough. We need a phalanx of Special Prosecutors to drain the White House swamp and ferret out the gangland capos roaming the halls of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

How many times do we have to say it? “Yup, It’s Well Past Special Prosecutor Appointment Time“, “Dump Obama Or Die Day, Part III – The Special Prosecutor Edition“, “Investigate, Investigate, Investigate, Prosecute, Prosecute, Prosecute, Imprison, Imprison, Imprison“, “Time For A Special Prosecutor To Investigate Barack Obama, Part II“. It’s the only thing that will work.

America needs Congress to investigate and legislate. In order to legislate laws designed to prevent a future Fast & Furious type horror the investigation(s) must be thorough?

But Congress cannot do it alone. Jay Carney will continue to lie and Obama will continue to bamboozle. Only under the threat that their statements will be subject to potential obstruction of justice charges will the White House gang lords and henchmen cease their public deceptions or at least pause as they contemplate prosecution.

Only by making Jay Carney fear he will learn about gay marriage at the tutelage of Bruno, currently residing in a federal penitentiary, will Jay stop streaming his lies. Hey, the fearsome threat worked during Watergate when John Dean feared a long stretch at the pen tethered to hubby Bruno. (“Newspapers in 1973 cited Nixon Administration aide John Dean’s fear of prison rape as motivation for his agreement to cooperate with Watergate prosecutors….”)

But Special Prosecutors in name only will not be enough. The Special Prosecutors will have to have ovaries of titanium or cojones of hardened steel. Paging Seal Team Six. Any of you guy/gals willing and able to join a prosecution task force?

* * * * * *

As to the stupidity and hypocrisy of the DailyKooks and other Obama worshipers, the stupidity comes from the very real possibility that Mitt Romney will be president soon and whatever power Obama grabs and expands to do ill, Mitt Romney will not surrender that power.

As to the hypocrisy, whatever happened to the DailyKook shouts of “unitary executive”? Remember? In 2007/2008 Hillary Clinton and John McCain (as well as anyone not named Barack Obama was denounced as proponents of the “unitary executive”. Now the DailyKooks applaud the “unitary executive”. Hypocrites.

The DailyKooks will lose this fight and the Republicans/conservatives who enjoy life underneath their mattresses will have to learn this is the right fight to fight. Not a full-time hypocrite, Jon Stewart is not exactly buying the executive-privilege claim:

Most, if not all, of Stewart’s viewers are hearing about Fast & Furious for the very first time – thanks Big Media for your round the clock protection of Barack Obama. But Stewart’s audience is hearing about Fast & Furious now. And it ain’t pretty:

Not a hypocrite, not a coward, not stupid, the Professor wonders aloud about Hillary Clinton and Fast & Furious:

“I have documented some of Hillary’s brand renovation exercises over the past year as she seeks to distance herself from Obama, whose “hope and change” polish has tarnished quite quickly over the past few months. It seems the more his brand falters, the more we see of Hillary. [snip]

As Obama’s recent assertion of Executive Privilege, brilliantly captured by Jon Stewart, hammers one more nail in the ho-hum “just like all the rest after all” coffin, Hillary continues to break out of the establishment mold. Where is she headed?

Hillary Clinton is the Secretary of State, for the time being, but even though Fast & Furious was about armaments crossing the border into Mexican drug lord cartels – Hillary Clinton is far far away from this death dealing scandal. Barack Obama used to be at least one degree of separation from the scandal.

Now Barack Obama is right in the middle of the killing of Brian Terry. The question now is “What did Barack Obama know, and when did he know it?” We need a team of Special Prosecutors to get us the answer.

Two Important Stories

Today was a busy news day. There was the preliminary jousting between Issa and Holder. Today is also the day the Obama biography was published. The Marco Rubio’s autobiography was published too (along with a biography written by a reporter) and the book tour has commenced.

The big story for many was Marco Rubio. The story today was that Rubio was not being vetted for VP. This was contradicted by Mitt Romney: You’d better believe Marco Rubio’s being vetted for VP.

As we wrote, if Rubio does well on his book tour and Romney decides either not to go with a Great Lakes strategy or to compete for the Latino vote as well as Great Lakes’ voters – Rubio will probably be on the ticket. If Rubio does not do well on his book tour, it’s adios Marco.

* * * * * *

For Hillary Clinton supporters however, there are two big news stories today. One of them fills in information which is increasingly hard to get in a timely manner. The Obama Dimocratic Party will do everything it can to suppress the truth. At this late date we are getting news about the April primary fight of 2012 – and we’re not talking about Republicans:

“President Barack Obama was the only name on the Democratic presidential ballot in the April 24 Pennsylvania primary, so there was no chance of him getting publicly embarrassed in the parts of the state where he’s not very popular.

But PoliticsPA drilled deep into the voting data and reports today that in 27 of the state’s 67 counties, more than 30 percent of voters left the presidential ballot blank rather than vote for Obama.”

PoliticsPA gets the hard to get numbers:

“A significant portion of western and central Pennsylvania Democrats declined to vote for Barack Obama in the April primary, an analysis by PoliticsPA has found.

The results there resemble those of Arkansas, Kentucky and West Virginia, where the President lost around 40 percent of the primary vote to no-name opponents or “undecided”.

A review of county-by-county vote totals show that the President underperformed historic trends, as well as other Democrats on the ballot this year.

Over 30 percent of voters left the presidential ballot blank rather than select Obama’s name in 27 counties. [snip]

Undervote refers to the number of blank ballot selections as a proportion of total voters; in this case, the Democrats who voted in the primary but did not make a selection for President. [snip]

“The first point is that most, not all, [of the undervote is] in culturally conservative counties which we would call many of the Democrats there ‘Reagan Democrats,’” he said. “Some are in rural counties. As you know, the President has problems with blue collar working class voters. He had that in 2008 and he faces the same problem now. That may not get better with his support for gay marriage and immigration reform. Also these are areas that tend to have higher unemployment which does not help.” [snip]

“Voters in southwestern Pennsylvania are, for the most part, socially conservative and economically liberal. It could be that the progressive agenda may have “lost” the President some supporters,” she said. “If this is the case, the question is whether voters will buy Romney-brand conservatism or if they will just stay home. Either way helps the GOP ticket.”

Republicans had another explanation for the primary results: coal and shale. PA’s Republican National Victory spokesman Billy Pitman noted that the dark areas of the map roughly correlate to communities where coal and natural gas industries are economic staples. They said the undervote was a statement about the President’s energy policies.

“President Obama’s hostility towards the energy sector has alienated the communities who rely on coal and shale development to create new jobs and support their economies,” said Pitman. “Democrats around the country and in Pennsylvania continue to join a growing coalition of Americans disappointed in President Obama’s ability to lead our economic recovery. Now, he finds his approval ratings are under water and Pennsylvania voters are turning to Mitt Romney for new ideas and leadership.”

This comment at PoliticsPA caught our eye:

“SWPAnnA on June 18, 2012 at 11:39 am said:

Perhaps it isn’t so much the “white, working class” voter as the utterly pissed off female voter still smarting from being stiffed by party leadership in 2008.

William Galston at The New Republic writes that anything is possible this year in Pennsylvania:

“Yes, Pennsylvania Is Still a Swing State

The national race is now in a virtual dead heat, and most key swing states are within the margin of error. And most important, it appears that Mitt Romney has expanded the playing field to include some states previously thought to be securely in President Obama’s column—including, in my view, Pennsylvania. [snip]

Obama’s job approval among Pennsylvanians stands at only 46, versus 49 percent who disapprove of his performance as president. Forty-eight percent think he deserves to be reelected, while 47 percent do not. And 56 percent are dissatisfied with the way things are going in their state, versus 43 percent who are satisfied.

At this point, the odds still favor an Obama victory in Pennsylvania this November. But the evidence suggests that Romney has a shot in the state—and Romney himself seems to think so. It’s no accident that the Romney bus tour goes through Pennsylvania.”

More and more states are moving into the NObama ranks. It’s why Stuart Rothenberg, who a few months ago was calling Obama a lock for reelection, is now saying Obama is a dog, an underdog:

“Barack Obama the Underdog Against ‘Change’ Slogan [snip]

But now, after three months of poor job growth (total non-farm payroll employment rose by only 69,000 in May and 77,000 in April), weakness in the stock market, growing economic problems in Europe, poor retail sales last month and missteps by the president (including his comment that the private sector is “doing fine”), Obama is clearly once again in serious trouble.

In fact, the president now looks like a narrow underdog for re-election. Yes, a narrow underdog. [snip]

It is simply not enough for the president and his advisers to blame former President George W. Bush for the nation’s economic problems. Polls do show that voters believe Obama inherited a mess, and that’s why they gave him the benefit of the doubt for so long.

But when voters show up at the polls in November they will not see Bush’s name on the ballot, and they will not be asked who is responsible for getting the economy into a ditch. Instead, they will be voting on whether Obama has started to turn things around and whether he is the man to finish the job over the next four years.

While most polls don’t yet show the president trailing in his bid for a second term, polling is often a lagging indicator. National and swing state survey data demonstrate a slow but steady erosion in Obama’s numbers, including in hypothetical ballot tests, and that deterioration is likely to continue if more bad news comes along.

For the White House, the next round of unemployment and new job numbers scheduled for release on July 6 is crucial for the Obama campaign’s effort to change the narrative. More bad numbers will put the president in an even deeper hole. [snip]

When voters are unhappy and want change, challengers simply say, “It’s time for change.” And that message works unless there are other equally effective messages that the incumbent can deliver.

Indeed, the fact that the slogan — whether “It’s Obama’s Fault” or simply “Vote Change, Vote Romney” — fits on a bumper sticker is only a plus for the GOP. It doesn’t mean that the bumper sticker is wrong or that the voters will reject it.”

Obama cannot talk about the economy. He can’t say it is better or getting better because as Democracy Corps has polled, people turn away from such an obviously stupid lie. Obama can’t say the economy is worse because he cuts his own throat. Obama can’t say things will remain the same because Americans hate where we are at. Obama cannot talk about the economy at all. That’s why all the distractions.

It won’t be enough to just let Obama bumble along however. Mitt Romney has an opportunity which Hillary Clinton did not have in 2007/2008. Mitt Romney has to fight both Obama and his campaign. By Obama’s campaign we mean Big Media.

Repeatedly in the 2008 presidential race cycle we urged Hillary Clinton to refuse to debate on NBC/MSNBC. Today, Scott Brown shows the way for Mitt Romney. Scott Brown: I won’t debate if it’s hosted by MSNBC.

Scott Brown sweetly “accepted” the debate but he did so while elegantly punching noses:

Scott Brown accepts Kennedy debate with conditions

Senator Scott Brown said he will accept a debate at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute but only on the condition that Vicki Kennedy stay neutral in the election and that MSNBC not be included as a broadcast partner. [snip]

Vicki Kennedy, Senator Kennedy’s widow, had proposed a third debate. But she has been an active Democrat, causing some to question whether Brown should accept the invitation. And MSNBC, home to many liberal talk show hosts, had been mentioned as a potential broadcast partner. [snip]

In a letter to the Institute Monday, Brown’s campaign manager Jim Barnett wrote: “In order to proceed, we need to know that in keeping with the spirit of neutrality expressed in Vicki Kennedy’s letter that she will not endorse or otherwise get involved in this race.

“Furthermore, while we accept Tom Brokaw as a moderator, we prefer debates with local media sponsors, not out-of-state cable networks with a reputation for political advocacy.”

Scott Brown handled this with all the skill needed. He appeared both reasonable and yet he punched hard. Picture a surgeon performing open heart surgery on a flea. Mitt Romney can learn from Brown’s tough/sweet campaign.

Even with all the poll leads imaginable, if Mitt Romney wants to win the presidency at some point he will have to take on Big Media and especially NBC/MSNBC. Romney won’t win Pennsylvania or any state if NBC/MSNBC can help it.

Was Obama’s Illegal Immigration Ploy Brilliant Or Stupid?, Does This Mean Rubio Fills The VP Slot For Sure? Why Is Romney On A Bus Tour?

Update: Sean Trende agrees with what we wrote below on just about every point we made:

“Most analysts portrayed the decision as a smart move to shore up Obama’s flagging standing with Latino voters. [snip]

I think the decision will probably wind up a net negative for the president. [snip]

There is a trade-off here. Fifteen electoral votes could still be crucial in a close election. But here’s the rub: The analyses that focus only on the potential effect among Latino voters miss half of the equation: The potential effect among white voters. [snip]

This is important, because Obama has ongoing weaknesses with working-class white voters. So weak, in fact, that they threatened his presidential bid during the Democratic perfect storm of 2008. [snip]

The financial collapse is what changed this; in late September, McCain’s leads were six and 11 points, respectively. Without this shift, 2008 would have been a very close race; Obama might have lost, even in a year where everything else was going in his favor. [snip]

These voters are the critical voting bloc in several must-win states for the president, including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Iowa and Michigan.

Now, some may say that the DREAM Act polls well, and this is true. Remember, however, that the parties never campaign on the other side’s best frame of their policies, or even the most accurate frame. [snip]

In short, it’s not really clear what Obama’s tack on immigration really accomplishes, politically speaking. It probably will result in minimal gains among Latino voters, in states with only a few electoral votes. But what it costs him could easily offset those gains, and then some.”

As we write below, “everything Obama touches turns to sh*t”.

As to polling, we also wrote there might be a very short lived boost. Today a Bloomberg poll: 64% agree with new immigration policy. We can’t critique the Bloomberg poll because no demographic data is provided by the pollsters. But the unimpressive 64% support for the unconstitutional policy is not boosting Obama in Gallup, Rassmussen or DailyKooks polls.

Remember: “Everything Obama touches turns to sh*t.” Remember also, “It’s the economy, stupid.”

——————————————————————————————

After Thursday’s latest widely panned snore-fest “pivot” to the economy Barack Obama, like a hoochie coochie dancer, unveiled yet another (major) distraction from the economy. Obama opponents immediately started worrying that this distraction matters. Really. For sure. “This is the game-changer” the pearl clutchers squeaked. “Obama outsmarted us” wept Republican/conservatives. “The Latino vote is lost to Obama” swooned the foolish. “Obama just won the election” moaned the weak and silly.

But we’ve been watching Barack Obama for a long time. We remember him twitching for a nicotine fix in the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel in Boston during the Democratic Convention in 2004. We remember applauding him in our seats during his 2004 speech in convention hall – but at the same time having a conversation about how out of touch, or downright stupid if not cleverly manipulative, he was with that nonsensical “no red America, no blue America, just the United States of America” crowd pleasing garbage.

That “no red America” nonsense was always nonsense. Yes, it temporarily made Obama look like a “uniter” to the always gullible. But that “unity” schtick did not work out so well when in office did it? Fact is there is a “red America” and a “blue America” and we are all part of the United States of America. It’s an unruly United States with major divisions on major issues – but it almost always is this way.

The one thing we most definitely know about Barack Obama is that he is a boob. When he touches gold it turns to sh*t.

But didn’t he win the nomination and the election and that turned out all right? Well he had to be dragged across the finish line for the nomination stealing delegates along the way and if it wasn’t for the economic meltdown in September 2008 John McCain would have maintained his weeks long lead and, outspent and out-machined, beaten Barack Obama in an election which just about any Democrat would have won.

But Obama did win the golden prize of the presidency and since then it has turned to sh*t. Now he is fighting for political life and forced to do whatever it takes to win. No Distraction Left Behind.

* * * * * *

Be assured. What looks like a great moment and a masterstroke from Obama will soon turn to a muddy mush that will choke him.

First and most important: As with the gay marriage “evolution” Americans will see this constitutionally dubious illegal immigration/DREAM Act ploy as a political ploy. Obama’s gay marriage “evolution” was viewed by 67% of Americans as prompted by election year political pandering. That the gay marriage “evolution” was a personal not a political “evolution” with policy ramifications is not ignored by gay Americans.

Gay Americans also know that Obama is thus far refusing to make gay marriage a policy plank in the Dimocratic platform and Obama is also refusing to issue an anti-discrimination executive order long demanded by the contributors of the gay community. Further gay Americans know that Obama could have “evolved” earlier. According to reports from the White House Barack Obama had decided in January to “evolve” on gay marriage but postponed his announcement for political effect to the Bank of America Dimocratic convention in September. So much for doing what is right. Gay Americans are not stupid and they know Obama is in it for Obama not anybody else.

Second, and very important: Latinos are not stupid. Barack Obama long ago said he could not do what he has just done. Latinos are not stupid and know Obama is just playing them.

Latinos in everyday conversations and in Spanish language broadcasts (surprisingly the level of education does not matter and the same parliamentary language is used) almost always state that Obama had a filibuster-proof Senate and House majorities but did nothing on immigration reform – other than make promises that he would do so in 2009, 2010, 2011. Now it’s election season and Obama is in trouble so he decides to do what he said he could not constitutionally do.

Latinos are not stupid and they will correctly ask, “why now?” Why not before? They, and others, will also ask if this entire effort is constitutional. As more and more Obama schemes fall prey to the rigors of the Constitution of the United States and the Supreme Court, Latinos will realize that Obama is writing a check that cannot be cashedno constitutional authority.

Latinos are not stupid. Latinos know this illegal immigration patch will soon fall off and that only legislation matters if they want a permanent solution. Senator Marco Rubio was reportedly working on an immigration reform proposal and the pearl clutchers are now saying that Obama has stolen his thunder. Is this for real?

Senator Marco Rubio is a Latino from the very important 29 electoral vote rich state of Florida. These facts plus his ability to speak excellent English and even better Spanish place Marco Rubio on the top five list for anyone looking at VP picks for Mitt Romney. Does this latest Obama distraction on illegal immigration assure Marco Rubio the VP nomination?

June will be the deciding month for Mitt Romney on Marco Rubio. A few days from now, on June 19, the Marco Rubio autobiography will be published. There will be an author’s book tour. On the same day an anti-Marco Rubio biography will be published. There will be an author’s book tour.

After the Rubio books are published and Marco Rubio is on his book tour Mitt Romney will get the facts required to determine if he wants Rubio on the ticket. Rubio will soon be a major focus of attention and Romney will assess whether Rubio can stand up to the national scrutiny.

If Rubio wilts in the vicious spotlight then Rubio will stay in the Senate. If Rubio does as well as many expect he will be a lock for the VP nod, right? Not necessarily. There is something else going on in June that will matter.

The current Mitt Romney Bus Tour will also determine whether Rubio gets the Vice Presidential nomination.

What does the Mitt Romney Bus Tour have to do with Marco Rubio? Consider this analysis of what it takes to win in 2012:

“The overriding fear of Team Obama is that the president’s support among white voters will collapse. The math is simple. If Romney gets 65 percent of the white vote (which will likely comprise — at least — 72 percent of the electorate) then he gets 48 percent of the total vote. From there, Romney need only get 20 percent of all non-white voters to win by a comfortable margin.”

Romney might actually only need 60% of the white vote and 20% of the minority vote to win:

“The Obama campaign is counting on repeating an unprecedented performance among non-white voters. If the Obama campaign succeeds, Romney will need to counter with a historic share of the white vote. Should non-white voters support Obama to the extent they did in 2008, Romney will need to compensate by winning 60 percent of the white vote while holding Obama to 38 percent.

In the modern political era, it has taken extraordinary circumstances for Democrats to do so poorly with whites. [snip] (That said, to the extent that congressional elections can be used as a proxy, the 2010 midterms augur better for Romney: In 2010, House Democrats only won 37 percent of the white vote.) [snip]

Of course, just because Romney is in uncharted territory doesn’t mean he can’t conquer it. Given the prevailing political and economic climate, Romney will certainly have the opportunity to assemble the requisite number of votes—especially since there is no guarantee that non-white voters will turnout and support Obama as they did in 2008. [snip]

There are still many unresolved questions that will be pivotal to the election. Will Obama’s young and diverse base turnout to the degree necessary to force Romney to make historic gains among whites? If Romney does need to win 60 percent of the white vote, who are the voters he will need to persuade?”

If you believe after all the circus failures of these past three years that Obama will get higher turnout than in 2008 among blacks and young people as well as gentry liberals then Obama has a fighting chance. But really. Does anyone think that there is more Mess-iah fever in 2012 than there was in 2008? Anyone?

White voters will comprise at least 72 percent of the electorate in 2012. More likely, with the carnival failure presidency of Barack Obama, the white vote will be much higher and minority turnout will be much lower. But let’s stick with the 72 percent white turnout number and assume Mitt Romney needs 65% of that 72%. Mitt Romney could not possibly get that much of the white vote could he?

In 2010 Obama Dimocrats got only 37% of the white vote. But what about now? What about Obama and Romney’s share of the white vote? Can Romney really expect upwards of 60% of the white vote? Realy???? Really???? Gallup from June 12, 2012:

Whites make up about three-quarters of all U.S. registered voters, and are therefore the most important racial or ethnic group in any election, at least mathematically. Even if Obama were to regain his 2008 level of support among blacks and improve his support somewhat among Hispanics, he could still lose if his support among whites slips any further. By the same token, even a slight increase in whites’ support could secure his re-election. [snip]

Currently, 43% of white 18- to 29-year-olds say they plan to vote for Obama in the election, down nine points from the 52% backing him in 2008. By contrast, Obama has lost five points among whites aged 30 to 49 and six points each among the two older age groups.”

What does this have to do with Mitt Romney’s Bus Tour, Marco Rubio’s VP chances, and Obama’s Latino ploy? Look at where Mitt Romney is going on his Bus Tour. Romney started his six state bus tour on a farm in New Hampshire. The Romney “Every Town Counts” tour goes through “bitter” “clinging” small town America:

“The tour begins in New Hampshire and will hit the battlegrounds states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan. In addition to being key swing states in the fall, these states share another distinction: They were all won by Barack Obama in 2008.”

Mitt Romney’s bus tour is about whether or not his campaign should turn to the Great Lakes and get to that 60-65% of white voters. Romney can, if he so chooses, turn to the Great Lakes and states with big working class white populations such as Pennsylvania to get to his electoral vote goals. Two Michigan polls have Romney ahead there and perhaps Romney might decide that the 60-65% strategy will work best. In that case he can choose as his VP someone to specifically help him with white voters and in the Great Lakes’ states and Pennsylvania. Someone like Rob Portman or Paul Ryan.

If Romney decides on a Great Lakes strategy then it is adios Marco Rubio. But even if there is a Great Lakes strategy there is a case left for Marco Rubio as VP. Mitt Romney might decide that he can outflank Obama on all sides – in the Great Lakes and even on the illegal immigration issue. In either case, June will tell if Rubio is on the ticket after we all see how he performs on his book tour and we catch a glimpse of him discussing illegal immigration as well as leading the soon-to-come backlash.

The backlash to Obama’s illegal immigration ploy of Friday might scorch Obama and anyone seen as anything less than strongly anti-illegal immigration. The backlash is already starting.

Today the Washington Post wonders: What will hundreds of thousands of job permits do to the economy?:

“With potentially as many as 800,000 new workers flooding into the system, what happens to the millions of Americans who can’t find work now? The Washington Post wonders the same thing, and more:

President Obama has just opened a floodgate of opportunity for young illegal immigrants in the United States, but could it squeeze the aspirations of legal Americans in the process? …

Under the new policy, as many as 1.4 million undocumented immigrants under age 30 will be able to apply for the amnesty, allowing them to work and attend college legally. [snip]

Federal law already grants all undocumented immigrants the right to a public-school education and emergency hospital care.

The new policy could entail additional costs for administration and enforcement, however, and put pressure on state systems of higher education to meet growing demand for slots.”

This Obama illegal immigration ploy might be enough to get Mitt Romney over the 60-65% white vote goal. And remember what we wrote above that everything Obama touches turns to sh*t? What happens if 1.4-800,000 job seekers flood the employment lines? What happens to the unemployment rate and Obama’s chances of reelection? Unemployment rate up, Obama goes down.

Everything Obama touches turns to sh*t. How happy will poor blacks be to vote for Obama if this happens?:

“But Steven Camarota, a researcher with the nonprofit Center for Immigration Studies in Washington, said that the Obama administration was not taking into account the new measure’s probable impact on competition for jobs at the low end of the economic scale, where chronic unemployment is highest. Among Americans with less than a high school education, he said, the jobless rate is 13 percent.

“It doesn’t seem the administration is considering the cascading consequences,” Camarota said. “What does this mean for unemployed Americans who will be competing for jobs with a million-plus people who can now apply for work authorization? Is this really a good idea?”

Everything Obama touches turns to sh*t. Count on it. Whatever very short term publicity benefits, whatever upticks in polls Obama gets from his illegal immigration ploy, it’s going to turn to sh*t. Count on it. When the unemployment rate goes up, Obama’s illegal immigrants will be taking the blame.

Mitt Romney is playing the Obama ploy just right. Let Obama go on with his distractions. Let Mitt Romney focus on the economy. It’s the economy, stupid.

‘Forward Over A Cliff’ – Bill Clinton And Mitt Romney Tag-Team Barack Obama’s Publicity Stunt Economy Speech

All you really want to know about today’s Barack Obama publicity stunt speech (scheduled to distract from the Sarah Jessica Parker/Anna Wintour fundraiser tonight) is in the headline of the Republican/conservative HotAir – Gamechanger: Obama rocks America with speech everyone’s heard 50 times before; Update: Panned by … MSNBC?

The Obama Big Speech was a bore, a snooze, a batch of old lies in new TelePrompTers. The really big news is that Mitt Romney is not running a John McCain campaign. It’s not only that Mitt Romney bus honking and circling the Obama speech site. It’s that Mitt Romney gave an opposing speech almost at the same time as Obama and in the same state. It’s an in your face campaign from Mitt Romney. Which brings us to Bill Clinton.

Two years ago, with increasing frequency, we continued writing article after article detailing the Obama war on Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton. We diagrammed battlefield movements as Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton fought back. When we began our reports of the Obama/Clinton war few believed us or few dared declare that they believed us. Most of Big Media indulged themselves in the fantasy that Hillary Clinton had been chained and Bill Clinton, um, neutered.

As Mitt Romney stepped on Obama’s big speech day, it was Bill Clinton who, um, plowed the field two years ago. Once again it is Republican/conservative HotAir with the headline that caught our eye – Bad news: Clinton time-travels back 2 years to step on Obama’s message:

“What’s going to be the excuse this time from Bill Clinton’s team, offered anonymously under pressure from Team Obama? The last time that Clinton undermined a major campaign strategy by referring to Mitt Romney’s “sterling business career” at Bain Capital and Clinton’s preference for extending the Bush-era tax rates temporarily to prevent further damage to the economy, Clinton’s own team pointed at his age — a venerable 65, by the way — and insinuated that the old man’s elevator wasn’t making all the stops. In this clip from two years ago unearthed by Media Research Center and reported by USA Today this morning, Clinton pre-emptively stepped on Barack Obama’s new message of staying the course — and in Ohio, no less, in the same exact spot where Obama will try out his new “blame Bush” strategy.

Maybe it was just youthful exuberance, or something:”

We know Hillary has been traveling a lot. Who knew Bill was a time traveler?

Bill Clinton is not a time traveler. No need to be “in awe of his time-travel abilities.” Bill Clinton planted that bomb knowingly two years ago.

How do we know this? Because we wrote about it at the time. Let’s do some time traveling of our own and regurgitate our words from September 2010:

“…today we laugh at how brutally Bill Clinton attacks Barack Obama. Quick, what is the most repeated argument Bill Clinton makes as he campaigns for candidates around the nation? The answer is a disguised attack on Barack Obama and one David Axelrod does not appreciate.

This morning Fox & Friends produced a segment about how David Axelrod does not like Bill Clinton’s Big Argument as he campaigns around the nation. As Bill Clinton travels the nation making a naked series of attacks against Barack Obama most Big Media outlets either miss or dress up Bill Clinton’s remarks. For instance, the dumb New York Times published a story last week stupidly called “Bill Clinton Stumps For Obama“. The story included Bill Clinton’s most repeated argument this campaign season:

“Bill Clinton Stumps for Obama [snip]

Even though Mr. Clinton insisted on Monday that he was only “peripherally and fleetingly” back in politics, he has been headlining rallies and fund-raisers across the country to buck up the depressed party faithful.

“They shouldn’t take this lying down,” Mr. Clinton said during a meeting with reporters and editors of The New York Times on Monday.

Blaming Republican policies for digging the deep hole the economy is in, he said the Democrats needed to plead with voters for more time to turn things around.

“I think we ought to say, ‘Look, don’t go back to the shovel brigade — give us two more years; if you don’t feel better you can throw us all out.’ ”

Um…, what quadrennial event occurs in two more years, in 2012? Why, surprise, surprise, surprise, it’s the presidential elections. Bill Clinton is saying that if things don’t get better in two years – sufficiently better that voters “don’t feel better” – then throw Barack out. Idiots at the New York Times apparently do not get the consequences of the argument Bill Clinton has crafted. These are writers who must not understand that “The Emperor’s New Clothes” is not just about clothes. Not the brightest at the New York Times these days, well educated no doubt, but dumb as a bag of bricks.

The introductory passage in the article is even worse. Who can write sentences such as these and not expect to be labeled gullible or stupid, or both: “He was against him before he was for him.” “…Bill Clinton was often at angry odds with the man who ultimately defeated his wife.” “…Mr. Clinton is stumping hard to help his onetime foe — and has emerged as one of the most important defenders of President Obama’s Congressional majorities.” These idiots apparently do not understand that every single time Bill Clinton speaks it demonstrates how sorely unqualified and lacking Barack Obama is.

Does it occur to the dolts that effectively saying ‘throw Barack Obama out in 2012’ is not “stumping hard to help his onetime foe.” In addition when Bill Clinton adds “And I think they can” to his main point “I hope they can avoid calamity” this does not mean that Bill Clinton thinks Obama Dimocrats will avoid calamity. Bill Clinton understands the difference between HOPE and actual performance.

The dolts at the New York Times might not understand what Bill Clinton is up to, but as Fox & Friends took notice of today, David Axelrod recognizes a threat when he sees one:

“(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CLINTON: I’d like to see him say, “We couldn’t get out of this $3 trillion hole in 21 months. Give us two more years. Don’t go back to the policies that dug the hole. But if we don’t do better” — this is the last thing — “if we don’t do better, you can vote against us all, and I’ll be on the ballot, too. Vote against us all if it’s not better.”

(END VIDEO CLIP)

AMANPOUR: So is that good political advice, vote against us all? Is that what President Obama will take, that advice? Will you say that to people?

AXELROD: Well, President Clinton is a — is a great politician, and I’m not in any way going to quarrel with him. I think people in 2012 will vote on this. I don’t think they need an invitation to do so.

Axelrod knows what Bill Clinton is getting at even if the dolts at the New York Times are too oblivious. Bill Clinton is everywhere with the message of a clean-up in 2012. But more importantly, every time Bill Clinton appears (he’s been campaigning or will campaign in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Georgia, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, California, Meet The Press, On the Record, and The Daily Show With Jon Stewart) Americans see what a real president looks like and compare him to the boob currently golfing and partying with his sleeveless wife.”

We wrote that two years ago and it is as fresh and relevant today as Mitt Romney’s Ohio speech this afternoon. Read a little further and see why Bill Clinton was campaigning then and is campaigning today:

“Here’s Bill Clinton discussing why he is speaking and making so many campaign appearances (note to dolts at New York Times, it’s about Hillary Clinton not to “help his onetime foe” Barack Obama):

“Mr. Clinton said he began making appearances only because Mrs. Clinton, in her current position, is forbidden from politicking. “So there was nobody besides me to honor the people that supported her,” he said.”

Bill Clinton quotes? How about this one from that article two years ago:

“Bill Clinton largely steered clear of politics during the conference, but said at one point he wished more world leaders made their decisions based on facts.

“Do you know how many political and economic decisions are made in this world by people who don’t know what in the living daylights they are talking about?” Clinton said.”

Now who was Bill Clinton talking about two years ago who is running for president in 2012?

Think what Bill Clinton has been saying lately is a “gaffe”? Again from our article two years ago quoting Toby Hamden:

“What does Bill Clinton really think about ‘articulate and attractive’ Barack Obama?

Although Bill Clinton had the occasional intemperate outburst during the 2008 primary campaign, it is generally wise to assume that nothing he and his wife say is accidental. They weight their words carefully, often with a view to their own long-term political interests. [snip]

But what caught my ear was this from Bill Clinton on NBC: “The question is, what are the specifics? What really matters is what we’re going to do. And right now they’ve elected a lot of people who are articulate and attractive.”

“Articulate and attractive” are Big Media code words for Barack. We think of him as a “bumbling bore and boob”. When Bill Clinton mocks the “articulate and attractive” by demanding “specifics” he is not doing Obmaa a favor.

“Specifics”. That has been our critique of Obama since 2007 and especially after that 2009 inauguration. It is also the Romney critique of Obama. SHOW US THE PLAN.

Obama cannot show the plan because he does not have one. Obama does not know what he is doing. Bill Clinton knows it. Mitt Romney knows it.

Mitt Romney slapped Obama with abandon today:

“Romney says Obama’s talk on economy is ‘cheap’ but his actions ‘speak very loud’

CINCINNATI — Mitt Romney on Thursday said President Barack Obama is “long on words and short on action” when it comes to fixing the economy.

Speaking in battleground Ohio, before the president’s planned economic speech in a different part of the state, the likely Republican presidential nominee assailed his Democratic rival’s policies.

“Don’t forget, he’s been president for three and a half years. And talk is cheap. Actions speak very loud,” Romney said. “If you want to see the results of his economic policy, look around Ohio, look around the country.”

What he says and what he does are not always the exact same thing,” the former Massachusetts governor said. [snip]

He was in Cincinnati, a Republican stronghold in the state near the Kentucky border.

Slap, slap, slap, Mittens slapped Obama:

““You may have heard that President Obama is on the other side of the state and he’s going to be delivering a speech on the economy,” Romney told attendees of his afternoon speech, which kicked off half an hour before the president was set to speak. “He’s doing that because he hasn’t delivered a recovery for the economy.

In a fairly systematic takedown of Obama’s economic policies, Romney said the president is asking for reelection without having delivered on the promises he made during the 2008 campaign. [snip]

Romney also unfavorably compared the country under Obama to Europe and its fiscal crisis — especially to Greece, mocking the Obama campaign slogan of moving “forward.”

You call that forward? That’s forward over a cliff,” Romney said.”

Obama gave a publicity stunt speech today to distract from tonight’s Anna Wintour fundraiser. Obama gave a long-winded publicity stunt speech today and it did not make a sound. Everybody was too busy laughing.

Mitt Romney was laughing.

Bill Clinton was laughing.

Hillary Clinton is still laughing.

Apocalyptic Panic At The Black Hole

A little over a month ago we wrote “Panic!!!! The Three Great Battles To Come“.

Now Obama Dimocratic “panic” is the conventional wisdom. Every day a major publication talks of the “panic” among the Hopium Guzzlers. Every day a prominent national voice, without shame or restraint, yells “panic”.

Panic! Panic! is everywhere. Dems beginning to panic at Team Obama incompetence?:

“If this holds up, Democrats may be past the point of hitting the panic button, and perhaps need to be looking for the lifeboats. If Obama loses just one of these states, it’s almost impossible for him to win the election. Getting to the point of losing any of these states would mean that Ohio and Florida are probably already out of reach, and Virginia very much in play. Losing two of these states would nearly eliminate any mathematical path to Electoral College victory, and losing all three would mean a landslide victory for Romney. If all three just remain competitive, Obama will have to spend a lot of money and attention on defense in traditional Democratic strongholds, meaning less time and attention in what had been considered swing states like Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Iowa, and the interior West — all of which he won in 2008.

The economy will be the key for these states. If it continues to falter over the summer, Democrats had better switch to a strategy of preserving what they can in the Senate and House. If Republicans become competitive in these key states, Democrats may lose a lot more ground than just the White House.”

At the Washington Post, Karen Tumulty has her life preserver on and is yelling “Panic!”:

“Obama campaign’s rough patch concerns some Democrats

Is it time for Democrats to panic?

That’s what a growing number of party loyalists are wondering, amid a rough couple of weeks in which President Obama and his political operation have been buffeted by bad economic news, their own gaffes and signs that the presumed Republican nominee is gaining strength. [snip]

“We will face an impossible head wind in November if we do not move to a new narrative, one that contextualizes the recovery, but, more importantly, focuses on what we will do to make a better future for the middle class,” Greenberg, Carville and pollster Erica Seifert wrote. They added: “They know we are in a new normal where life is a struggle — and convincing them that things are good enough for those who have found jobs is a fool’s errand.

The memo came days after Obama handed the Republicans new ammunition with his declaration at a news conference that “the private sector is doing fine.” [snip]

Obama’s advisers say his campaign has advantages that will be critical if the race remains close. While the Republicans were slugging it out in a long and bitter primary, the Obama campaign was building its ground operation in key states — to a degree that Democrats think Romney won’t be able to match.

“They are laser-focused on the key 13 states, and within those key battleground states, there is a world of work being done,” said Durbin, who added that he has had three extensive briefings on Obama’s grass-roots operation.

Even compared with the impressive ground campaign of 2008, “they know more about the swing voters and how to reach them,” he said.”

It’s the economy, stupid but the author of that phrase warns Obama not to talk about the economy because Obama has nothing to say that is either believable or helpful to his campaign.

The defense from the Obama young white boys at Chicago headquarters is that the massive Obama machine is data-mining and has all sorts of new gizmos, gadgets, and thingamagigs with which to win votes – is laughable. Did any of this Obama machine help in Wisconsin? Did data-mining help in Wisconsin? Did the alleged massive Obama “ground game” help in Wisconsin? Did any of this hideous apparatus, this massive expensive Titanic, salvage Obama Dimocrats in 2010?

It was time to panic when Scott Brown won in 2009. It was time to panic when Chris Christie won in 2009. It was time to panic when Obama told his Dimocrats not to worry “you’ve got me.”

In a new poll today there is news from Wisconsin. Rasmussen: Romney up in Wisconsin, 47/44. So much for those Wisconsin election night exit polls Obama Dimocrats hung their high hope hats on.

Big Labor has big headaches in Wisconsin (and the nation as well):

“Mitt Romney now leads President Obama for the first time in Wisconsin where the president’s support has fallen to its lowest level to date. [snip]

Most voters (51%) in the state view public employee unions unfavorably, while 46% share a favorable opinion of them. This includes 33% with a Very Unfavorable view of the unions and 27% with a Very Favorable one. The president draws overwhelming support from voters who view public employee unions favorably, while Romney draws equally heavy support from those who view them unfavorably.

Forty-seven percent (47%) of voters in Wisconsin approve of the job Obama is doing, while 52% disapprove.”

Time to panic? That was in 2008 when the Democratic establishment forced Barack Obama onto the party rank and file and later onto the nation. Time to panic? According to Obama friendly Josh Kraushaar at National Journal, the parapets are under siege. The turrets are overrun with ladders and siege equipment. Romney Scaling the Blue Wall:

Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are looking increasingly within reach.

For much of the presidential campaign, President Obama’s top strategists have outlined their numerous paths to 270 electoral votes: win Florida, sweep the Southwest, or pick off a Southern state or two. But they didn’t prepare for the possibility that working-class white voters in the Rust Belt could abandon the president en masse, throwing his well-laid plans into disarray.”

Those embarrassing “scenarios”. We remember when the Obama campaign was declaring that they could win Georgia. Even Texas was in play according to the Obama henchmen. Now, too late, reality begins to dawn, and panic strangles the muscle that pumps blood. All those schemes, all those scenarios won’t alter reality. They should have listened to us.

We warned against Obama and his “situation comedy demographics” and the doom it would cause. When Scott Brown won we reminded them of their massive mistake:

“Scott Brown was a terrific candidate – because he understood Barack Obama and the Dimocrats abandoned the white working class and the winning FDR/Hillary Clinton Coalition. Obama and his Dimocrats abandoned the winning coalition for their newfangled “situation comedy” coalition. Scott Brown, deservedly or not, grabbed the winning Democratic Coalition orphaned by Barack Obama and the Obamination corruption we refer to as the “Dimocratic” Party. [snip]

the elderly, white workers, the middle class, are no longer the coalition Dimocrats consider their base.

The Obama/Axelrod/Brazile vision for the Democratic Party mimics the desired demographics for a television sitcom.

As the long suffering Donna declared “A new Democratic coalition is younger. It is more urban, as well as suburban, and we don’t have to just rely on white blue-collar voters and Hispanics.”

Axelrod has declared “The white working class has gone to the Republican nominee for many elections, going back even to the Clinton years. This is not new that Democratic candidates don’t rely solely on those votes”.

This cheap vision of the Democratic Party is applauded and defended by many of the well-off, highly educated, white, eggheads inside the Democratic Party. Why is this?

The very simple answer is because since the middle of the last century the “eggheads” (as Paul Begala so aptly categorizes them) have failed repeatedly to win. The failures can usually be attributed to those pesky white voters that reject Democrats. Instead of trying to win them over, Obama/Eggheads want to roll over them. [snip]

Can you hear the Democratic Coalition of FDR and Hillary Clinton as it tectonically shifts from Blue to Brown and eventually to Red?

The White Working Class voters are coming home…. to roost… and support the Romney campaign:

“With the economy struggling to pick up steam, three must-win “blue-wall” states are looking increasingly winnable for the Romney campaign: Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Both election results (from the Wisconsin gubernatorial recall) and reputable polling show that all three states are shaping up to be highly competitive, and that both campaigns will be devoting significant resources there.

Three new polls underscore why Team Obama has reason to be concerned about their standing in the Rust Belt. [snip]

Macomb County was home base for Democratic pollster Stanley Greenberg’s seminal 1985 analysis of Reagan Democrats, which concluded that they were leaving the Democratic fold over cultural issues. Democrats have made significant inroads since then—Obama won the county 53 to 45 percent in 2008—but the sentiments of working-class whites are changing due to the weak economy.

“They know we are in a new normal where life is a struggle—and convincing them that things are good enough for those who have found jobs is a fool’s errand,” wrote Democratic strategists Greenberg and James Carville this week, assessing the results of their focus group among working-class voters in Columbus, Ohio. “They want to know the plans for making things better in a serious way—not just focusing on finishing up the work of the recovery.”

Those sentiments translate to Pennsylvania, a blue-collar state where Obama underperformed in 2008 relative to his national gains. [snip]

I think it is definitely in play,” former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, a Democrat, said at a Bloomberg News roundtable last week. “I said from the beginning, Mitt Romney is the only candidate who had a chance to do well enough in the Philadelphia suburbs to carry the state.” [snip]

The combination of white-hot Republican enthusiasm combined with Democratic struggles to win over the working class ensures that Wisconsin will be a battleground. In the wake of the recall, Romney’s campaign is moving resources into the state, and Obama’s campaign manager Jim Messina publicly ranked it as a toss-up for November in a video to supporters. Romney is expected to perform as strongly as Walker with the Republican suburbanites; his big challenge is to maintain Walker’s sizable edge with the working-class voters as well.

It’s no coincidence that Mitt Romney’s “Every Town Counts” bus tour, which kicks off on Friday, is focused on winning over working-class whites, hitting the blue-wall battlegrounds along with three other blue-collar bastions: Ohio, Iowa, and New Hampshire. Romney, despite his privileged pedigree, knows that winning over the working-class voters dissatisfied with Obama’s record on the economy is a prerequisite for winning the election.”

Our regular readers will not be surprised by any of this. We’ve discussed this Obama “situation comedy” coalition before in a long running series.

We’ve also discussed what we call the “Mistake In ’08” for years now in a long running series [HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.

The panic should have set in a long time ago. Now we are at the Apocalypse. What we are witnessing now is a massive black hole swallowing up entire political galaxies.

When we, in February 2011, discussed the collective bargaining fight in Wisconsin we wrote:

“For too long the Democratic Party relied on labor unions to do just about everything. The payoff for public labor unions was a friendly negotiator across the table. Nothing wrong with that arrangement except that ultimately it hurt the workers as they increasingly became cogs in a Big Labor machine that cared about them less and less. The Democratic Party was ultimately hurt too.

The Democratic Party atrophied with its dependence on labor unions to supply the manpower and womanpower, along with the financing for campaigns as well as the headquarters and field offices. Along with union endorsements came money and workers and therefore the game became union endorsements instead of outreach to individuals. The game was not to appeal to the workers but instead to romance the Big Labor union bosses. We’re all guilty of this – Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton included.

For the unions, the workers became less important. The workers essentially became only dues payers. The Big Labor bosses increasingly ignored the plight of the workers and only cared that the dues were paid. With the money from the workers’ dues unions paid for political protection and friendly negotiators in the public service labor arena. Instead of spending all their money on union organizing and increasing their ranks, unions saw their easy path on the political highway. Republicans noticed.

In the wake of Barack Obama’s election it all began to fall apart.”

We used to say that the election of Barack Obama was the biggest political mistake on this continent since the South fired on Fort Sumter. Just as the armies of the Confederacy saw their cities burn and their fields salted with blood the Obama Dimocratic Party is at the abyss.

It is not just the Obama Dimocratic Party that is about to burn in the Apocalyptic American Götterdämmerung. The astronomical black hole Obama Dimocrats can now see ripping their fingertips will soon ravish their entrails.

The entire Obama Dimocratic galaxy of unions, ally organizations, non-profits, think tanks and donor organizations are threatened. Dimocrats in the Senate are threatened. Dimocrats in the House are threatened. Dimocrats in every state legislature and Dimocrats in every executive office in every state are threatened. The black hole is growing and will swallow the Dimocratic galaxy whole.

It’s time to panic. It’s been time to panic. The destructive black hole will devour not only the Dimocratic Party. The black hole will crush first the public labor unions then the private labor unions.

Barack Obama is that black hole.

The Video Mitt Romney Better Watch

We gave pretty much the same advice to John McCain in 2008. Mitt Romney better listen to our advice even though right now Obama looks like dog meat.

Recent boobery from Obama has made even his most Hopium addled supporters realize his campaign of bamboozlement and reelection is in trouble. The recent Obama buffoon analysis on the state of the American economy as “fine” means that Big Media will turn the WORM (What Obama Really Meant) for Obama.

Today the scream of HELP! to Big Media from the hapless Obama reelection saps came loud and clear. From Jay Carney to press corps: You people ought to do your jobs and report the context of Obama’s “private sector” comments.

This request from Carney to Big Media is direct: don’t report what Obama actually said, report what we say Obama really meant. Recall what we wrote in 2008 and watch the video Mitt Romney better watch:

“In the last debate John McCain stated nailing down Sen. Obama’s various tax proposals is like nailing Jell-O to the wall. McCain should not have restricted his critique merely to Obama’s “tax proposals”.

Recall, at the height of the Obama gay-bashing and race-baiting campaign – South Carolina – Hillary Clinton spoke about Obama and his record and accountability:

CLINTON: Well, I couldn’t agree more. But I do think that your record and what you say does matter. And when it comes to…

(APPLAUSE)

… a lot of the issues that are important in this race, it is sometimes difficult to understand what Senator Obama has said, because as soon as he is confronted on it, he says that’s not what he meant. [snip]

Now, why is this important? It’s important because I think elections are about the future. But how do you determine what will happen in the future? Well, you have to look to the record, you have to look to what we say in campaigns, and what we have done during our careers.

And I want to be just very explicit about this. We are not, neither my campaign nor anyone associated with it, are in any way saying you did not oppose the war in Iraq.

You did. You gave a great speech in 2002 opposing the war in Iraq. That was not what the point of our criticism was.

It was after having given that speech, by the next year the speech was off your Web site. By the next year, you were telling reporters that you agreed with President Bush in his conduct of the war. And by the next year, when you were in the Senate, you were voting to fund the war time after time after time.

So it was more about the distinction between words and action. And I think that is a fair assessment for voters to make.

(APPLAUSE)

We do believe Mitt Romney will be better financed that Barack Obama this election cycle. The Romney advantage might be as much as a billion dollars. But it won’t be enough of an advantage to overcome Big Media’s protection of its stooge Barack Obama.

Mitt Romney is running for President. Ostensibly Romney’s opponent is Barack Obama. Romney’s real opponent, Romney’s real enemy however is the Big Media Party. The Big Media Party has its own agenda and interests.

Romney should stick to the important issues:

“The net worth of the American family has fallen to its lowest level in two decades, according to government data released Monday, driven by a more than 40 percent drop in their stakes in their homes.

The Federal Reserve’s detailed survey of consumer finances showed families’ median wealth plunged from $126,400 in 2007 to $77,300 in 2010 — a 39 percent decline. That put them on par with median wealth in 1992.

The Fed’s data underscore the depth of the wounds of the Great Recession and how far many families remain from healing.”

But it is not only the “important issues” that Romney must address. While Mitt Romney has learned a great deal from Donald Trump and his boisterous style Romney must employ his new found toughness to take on Big Media. Romney has to have his campaign confront and call out Big Media. A SuperPac dedicated to this task should be established and funded sufficient to the task.

Mitt Romney better prepare to tackle Big Media or he will be food for WORMs.
