Dangerous Lessons And Laughs From Gay Marriage Obama

It’s a dangerous day for Barack Obama. As we wrote yesterday, Obama’s many lies and gay bashing adventures over the years, threatened to catch up with him as must win North Carolina went to the polls. Electorally Obama found himself in a smoking frying pan. Today’s down low switch hitting ploy on gay marriage will have grave electoral consequences. But the great danger for Obama is that other groups will now learn from certain gay people and certain gay groups.

Enter Jonathan Lewis. In June of 2009 we advised women, Jews, and gays to “wake up”. We noted that the organizations supposedly established to fight for these groups were more interested in defending Barack Obama than in their mission statements. We recently noted this pro Obama hypocrisy was also evident in the actions of environmental groups and labor unions – they’re more interested in protecting/helping Barack Obama than in their own constituents. Jonathan Lewis and a few gay leaders were the only ones that fought for the gay community and today their strategy threatens a meltdown of the Obama campaign. If other constituent groups learn from Jonathan and demand Obama act on their issues Obama will be caught between today’s Obama and the other Obamas from yesteryear and Obama “present” votes of convenience.

Who is Jonathan Lewis and why is he so important? Well for one thing Jonathan is the son of Peter Lewis and Peter Lewis is a very wealthy man. Peter Lewis (of “Flo” and Progressive Insurance) along with George Soros has been one of the rivers of money for the democratic left. This campaign season Peter Lewis has not been contributing money to help the Obama cause. Lewis’s money distributor Michael Vachon, has been dripping disdain on Obama’s pleas for Superpac money. Peter’s gay activist son Jonathan has been a thorn on Barack Obama’s side:

A key activist called Obama a “coward” and plans to execute a “We Can’t Wait” campaign to draw attention to the issue.

Jonathan Lewis, the son of billionaire Peter Lewis, told The Washington Post that he plans to spend $100,000 to fund the “We Can’t Wait” campaign.

This isn’t a broken promise President Obama can blame on Congress,” Lewis said. “He has not been able to provide a single valid reason for why he is now refusing to sign the executive order protecting LGBT workers. It has become increasingly clear that this decision is based on cowardice rather than principled leadership.”

Jonathan Lewis has been even more scornful of Obama on gay marriage. Why does a gay billionaire’s son hold so much influence? Obama needs money desperately. The big donor community is close knit and everyone knows Peter and Michael and by extension Jonathan. Between black votes and gay money Barack Obama went with the green.

After last night the Obama campaign figured the cops were banging on the door. In North Carolina Obama had distributed a press release against the anti gay marriage Amendment One but otherwise kept quiet. After the vote Obama noted the huge margins for Amendment One as well as the numbers for him. In a state Obama won in 2008 by 0.3% Obama last night lost 20% of his own party!

Before last night’s vote it was almost impossible for Obama to win “must win” North Carolina. After last night even the Obama campaign understands that “must win” North Carolina has gone south for Obama.

It’s called Karma. In 1996 when it was politically advantageous for Obama to get white liberal votes and gay money – Obama was for gay marriage. “Obama may be the only person in America who supported gay marriage in 1996 but opposed it in 2011.”

Republicans/conservatives believe that Obama has been a secret gay marriage supporter all along. They are wrong. To this day Barack Obama has never participated in a gay pride march and in 2008 when gay bashing was needed to win South Carolina – gay bashing it was. But Republican/conservative HotAir does get some things right in “Noted gay-marriage supporter finally drops cynical charade“:

“Note the fine print, though:
The president stressed that this is a personal position, and that he still supports the concept of states deciding the issue on their own. But he said he’s confident that more Americans will grow comfortable with gays and lesbians getting married, citing his own daughters’ comfort with the concept.

I don’t believe that for a moment either but that’s going to be his new compromise. Instead of “I support gay rights but oppose gay marriage” it’s now “I support gay marriage but oppose federal intervention.” Even so, if/when the Supreme Court finds a right to same-sex marriage in the Equal Protection Clause, rest assured that the statement from the White House that day will be nothing but celebratory. This position too is a charade.

As to Romney?

Stay focused Mittens! Romney can stay on his economic message while anti gay marriage is stoked by outside groups in state after state. Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post lists the pitfalls and pluses for Obama:

“Let’s start with the pluses.

1. Public opinion: [snip]

2. Excite the activist base: The LGBT community is not only a major part of the Democratic base but they also comprise some of the most politicalyl active people in the party. [snip]

3. Excite the donor base: One in six Obama’s 2012 campaign bundlers are gay, according to research conducted by the Post’s Dan Eggen and T.W. Farnam. Couple that fact with the news earlier this week that George Soros, one of the most prominent Democratic major donors in the country, was directing his contributions to grassroots groups rather than the super PAC expected to fund TV ads supporting Obama and it’s clear that the president badly needs a heavy investment from Hollywood and Silicon Valley. And those two communities are heavily in favor of gay marriage. (Don’t forget: Obama is headed to Hollywood tonight for a fundraiser at the house of actor George Clooney.)

4. Rally young people: [snip]

5. A principled stand: [snip]

Short version: its gay money and white liberals. If Jonathan Lewis contributes to the Obama superpac Barack will be happy and think it was all worth while. But it’s not all show me the money:

“And now, the minuses.

1. Not a slam dunk: [snip]

2. The black community: If the LGBT vote is a pillar of Obama’s base, the African American vote is an even bigger pillar. (In a recent Post poll in Virginia, Obama was beating former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney 97 percent to one percent among black voters.) And, African Americans have consistently been one of the groups most resistant to gay marriage. In that year’s worth of Post-ABC polling, just 42 percent said they support legalization while 55 percent oppose it. Yes, it’s unlikely that black voters leave Obama in droves over the issue. But it’s easier to see this decision taking some of the passion for him out of this community.

3. Virginia/North Carolina: President Obama won both states in 2008 and his campaign is targeting both again in 2012. (The Democratic National Convention this summer will be held in Charlotte.) While both states have changed demographically and politically over the past decade (or so), large portions of both states remain culturally quite conservative and might balk at Obama’s support for same-sex marriage. (Amendment One, which makes the only legal union in the state as between a man and a woman, passed with 60 percent of the vote on Tuesday in North Carolina.)

4. Flip flopping: [snip]”

What else caused Obama to finally back gay marriage today? The laughter. It was the laughter we will remember, whenever we remember:

“It is as it was.” Change you can believe in.

“Gay money has replaced Wall Street Money.” Occupy Gay Street.

Obama mouthed some words today and took no action after years of gay bashing. The Obama fellator squad will say those words are faboo from dreamy Barack and gay people should vote for the Abraham Lincoln of gay people. Gay fools Sudbay and Aravosis are on their knees already drinking in the words. Non-gay Chris Matthews’ initial reaction to Obama’s gay marriage conversion as breathless as you’d expect.

But as much gay money as flows into Obama’s pockets Barack still has to be worried. Imagine what will happen if the environmentalists stop making excuses for Obama and demand he do something on their issues. Imagine what will happen if the labor unions stop making excuses for Obama and demand he do something on their issues (such as the Keystone Pipeline which environmentalists oppose). Imagine what will happen if on issue after issue, demographic after demographic, interest group after interest group the protection of Obama ceases and instead action before the election is demanded. Imagine if the jobless demand jobs!

Today’s danger for Obama is that a few gay donors threatened Obama and Obama fell to his knees. If others start doing the same the campaign of bamboozle and lies will have to begin to produce change you can believe in. Suppose all groups demand Obama do what he says? Disaster!

Of course, Barack can always blame Michelle and have her join staff and others under the bus.

  1. After we heard this the other day (it’s the last link in the article) we made some calls to try and get some more information. None so far but the RudyVeritas is right about Barack and Michelle and cultural proclivities.

    http://www.rudyveritas.com/rudy_veritas/2012/05/is-michelle-blocking-the-evolution.html

    Is Michelle Blocking the “Evolution”?

I was watching Imus on Fox and Bob Beckel said something interesting. When asked by Imus if he thought Obama supported gay marriage, Beckel said he did not. When Imus asked why, Beckel said because Michelle doesn’t and she would “kill him” if he did. Imus isn’t interviewer enough to have followed up on that, but I found that fascinating. Is he fighting the “evolution” himself or is Michelle holding him back?

Results this morning from North Carolina show that in predominantly black neighborhoods, Amendment One was supported over 2 to 1. [snip]

The view that his position on gay marriage has become cowardly, cynical and too political – for an issue that for many is about civil rights – may force him to endorse something that he actually does not support. As a State Senator he checked a box on a candidate questionnaire that he supported it. As U.S. Senator, candidate for President and President, he opposed/opposes it. When Bill Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act I don’t think he did so with any relish, but I believe at the time he did not support gay marriage so his signature reflected his true position.

People have overlooked that like the vast majority of blacks in America, Barack and Michelle Obama may just be culturally/religiously/whatever opposed to gay marriage. It may be as simple as that. But, like much of the Obama presidency and especially his re-election, politics may trump conviction. As with all things Obama, it’s hard to know when the smoke finally clears on this issue and he says something definitive, what about all this was and wasn’t commendable: that he “evolved” to the correct view or that he compromised his true beliefs to further his re-election.

  2. Zero’s latest blunder soon, no doubt, to be addressed by Veterans for America or some other such group;

In his ABC infomercial this morning about his change of heart on gay marriage the POS talked his usual con and then uttered these words:

“those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf” who are gay as one reason he had to support gay marriage.

    Notice the “ON MY BEHALF.”

Even Krauthammer pointed out imagine what would have happened had the US troops landed on D-Day and Eisenhower had taken to the airwaves and thanked them for sacrificing for HIS behalf.

Bet this is going to turn into another SEAL-boat incident. Can’t wait.

    BTW, excellent article,admin. R

  3. OTOH,

The embarrassment of a convicted felon in W.Va. getting 42% of the vote points to what admin discussed above about special interest groups all realizing at the same time they are being SCREWED!

The EPA plans on cutting a dozen coal plants this year, many of them in Appalachia. Doubt that will go over well with white blue collar voters, same way the Keystone pipeline is causing the POS some well-deserved wife sleeve-tearing and bullying.

Can’t wait to see all them chickens come home to roost in the next few months.

  4. Don’t know if this is true but it sure would explain a lot including this evening’s fawning Smith coverage of the BO gay marriage support. It was so nauseatingly fellatious I had to turn off the tube.

“My favorite Anchor (NOT MY OPINION) on Fox News is not looking too well these days. Fox News’ Shepard Smith is a well known gay man and is said to frequent gay bars in his free time. Would this have anything to do with his poor looks, weight loss? Rumors circling the internet are speculating that the 48 year old has AIDS.

If Shep has AIDS it is a dilemma for FNC. Because of their anti-gay stance would they hide this? Shep is also slowly being replaced by beauty Harris Faulkner who is appearing a lot more on FNC due to Sheps recurring absences.”

So what else is new? Is Obama capable of ‘actually supporting’ anything — except Obama?

Anyway, if Blacks are really so anti-gay, then is this a deal breaker for their support of Obama? How many will really stay home from voting for The First Black President(tm)?

  7. No matter what the Zero does, the blacks do not desert him. Catholics definitely would if he supports gay marriage.

What he did today is appeasing christians and other non- blacks who think marriage is a sacred bond between man and woman. He is trying not to lose what ever support he has among them.

    ===================

Which day are you talking about? Last I heard, today or yesterday he was saying he personally supported gay marriage but wanted to leave it to the states. That’s more likely to rile the anti-gay people than keeping quiet.

  9. Perhaps a warning to Romney?

Angelique Chrisafis at The Guardian reporting from Paris:
Sarkozy is the 11th European leader to be ejected since the economic crisis. But the irony is that he was not booted out directly because of it. The eurozone crisis was paradoxically one of the only ways he could have won the election, selling himself as Super Sarko, an international firefighter and problem-solver, protecting France. That was the message of his election posters which featured his portrait against the sea: Captain Courage in a storm. But instead of vaunting his crisis-busting skills or even leadership in the intervention in Libya, he chose to pour his energies into veering hard-right in a crusade against immigration and halal meat, blaming Islam for the troubles in French society, and claiming to protect the Christian roots of Europe. Much of this harked back to his ill-fated far-right flirtations in office, from his controversial ministry of immigration and national identity, which he eventually abandoned, to a speech blaming Roma for crime in France and dismantling their camps.
Sarkozy’s courtship of the far right ultimately failed. By bringing the favourite topics of the Front National into the mainstream, namely immigration and fear of Islam, he served only to strengthen its leader, Marine Le Pen. He also dented his own legacy, leaving himself for the time being remembered in French minds not for what he defined as his bullishness in defending France abroad, or for reforms such as lowering the pension age, but for a divisive, stigmatising campaign that even some in his own camp privately felt was repulsive.
Sunday’s vote was a personal referendum on Sarkozy.

  10. Yeah, Shep Smith looks awful these days and I didn’t know he was gay.

I like Harris Faulkner. She is stunning.

  11. Barack Obama’s Bullshit Gay Marriage Announcement

ABC News has only released one brief clip of Obama’s conversation about gay marriage today, but it seems fairly clear from the network’s coverage that his announcement amounts to much less than meets the eye. He now believes that gay couples should be able to marry. He doesn’t believe they have a right to do so. This is like saying that black children and white children ought to attend the same schools, but if the people of Alabama reject that notion—what are you gonna do?

The key language in the ABC News write-up is this:

The president stressed that this is a personal position, and that he still supports the concept of states deciding the issue on their own.

On this afternoon’s special broadcast, Jake Tapper echoed that point: “The president said he thought this was a state-by-state issue.”

Well, before Roe v. Wade, abortion was a state-by-state issue, too. So was slavery. There are 44 states in which gay men and women are currently barred from marrying one another. Obama’s position is that, while he would have voted the other way, those 44 states are perfectly within their rights to arbitrarily restrict the access of certain individuals to marriage rights based solely on their sexual orientation.

  12. Best comment seen on Althouse:

He even set-up a special interview just so that he could tell everyone his personal opinion on a subject about which he proposes no legislation and no executive orders. I guess including it in a campaign speech wasn’t good enough.

  13. his announcement amounts to much less than meets the eye.

    =================

A lot of his big public gestures are like that. He made a big hurrah about some sort of directive that gays should have hospital visitation priviledges — with no teeth in it at all.

Like making a big deal about his version of Lily Ledbetter — after taking the teeth out of that too.

  14. What we wrote, rewritten:

    http://freebeacon.com/gay-for-pay/

    Gay for Pay

Obama reversal on same sex marriage comes just days after donors threatened to withhold funds

President Obama announced his support for same-sex marriage less than 48 hours after the Washington Post reported that prominent political donors were threatening to withhold donations over the president’s position on gay rights. [snip]

Left-wing blogger Greg Sargent reported on Monday that “leading gay and progressive donors” were angry with Obama over his increasingly convoluted position on gay rights and same-sex marriage, and were refusing to donate any more money to Priorities USA, the pro-Obama Super PAC. Sargent cited Paul Yandura, a political adviser to prominent Democratic donor Jonathan Lewis, who emailed that:

A number of gay and progressive donors, unsolicited, have indicated to us that they aren’t considering requests to donate to the Obama SuperPac because of the president’s refusal to the sign the order. And those are high-dollar asks, some in the seven digits. We have heard from at least half a dozen major gay and progressive donors that they stand united with us.

The Washington Post noted on Tuesday that roughly 20 percent of Obama top campaign bundlers—who are responsible for arranging $500,000 and up—“publicly identified themselves as gay.”

Obama’s announcement fits a pattern of changing positions on major issues for what appear to be financially motivated reasons.

The president in February publicly renounced his opposition to Democratic Super PACs such as Priorities USA, groups capable of raising large amount of money from anonymous sources.

Obama had previously denounced Super PACs as “shadowy groups with harmless sounding names” that pose “a threat to our democracy” because they allow wealthy donors outsized influence on the political process. [snip]

UPDATE: The liberal Talking Points Memo reports that one Obama bundler, Jon Cooper, said the president’s announcement will make fundraising for the re-election campaign “immeasurably easier.”

  15. Admin, like that commenter from Althouse said, this is another charade, sharing his personal opinion in a ‘big deal’ interview. Who cares! Sign the damn executive order if he has the courage of his conviction. But it is all about the money and why would the LGBT community fall for this new charade? If they do, they deserve each other.

  16. He will rue the choice of the word ‘personal’ in that special interview he called. Let us see how fucking gullible people are.

  17. Over 1 million came in after he stated his views on gay marriage. He now has the
    gays solidy behind him.

  18. A number of gay and progressive donors, unsolicited, have indicated to us that they aren’t considering requests to donate to the Obama SuperPac because of the president’s refusal to the sign the order.

    ====================

Oh ho! Now, which order is this? I hope they hold out for some substantial, non-reversible action.

  19. Amazing, it takes so little to please the Gay’s and Women. At least the Gay’s have an order on his desk to sign. What do the women have???? Are they really that gullible. Or are these O women falling into the trap, well he really loves me, and did not mean to beat the shxt out of me. He said he was sorry, and we should wait until he is re-elected, and then he will make it right.

Yah, sure, do you really believe that? If he was going to do something for you, he would have done it before now. Why, because he would not want it to interfer with his re-election. He should had done all the challenging stuff his first week in office. Remember hit the ground running. All I have seen is he is on the ground slithering to get out of every dax thing he has promised. At least the Gay’s are holding His feet to some sort of fire. What are the women doing??? NOTHING!!!

  20. Peter Lewis . . . from Cleveland . . . founder of The Progressive Insurance Company . . . friend of Soros . . . no stranger to illegal drugs . . . arrested in Australia for possession. . . . big Obama backer in 2008 . . . known for dressing up like the Lone Ranger and crashing Cleveland City Council Meetings . . . to call him a wacko would be unfair . . . he is a billionaire wack job . . . that is fair. But for once in his life the law of averages caught up to him, and he is moving away from the Messiah. . . much to the chargrin of big media. I know Lewis–you don’t need to meet him to know him.

  21. Over 1 million came in after he stated his views on gay marriage. He now has the
    gays solidy behind him.
    ———————-
Money that would have come in anyway. Besides, you have to look at both sides of the ledger. We do not know how much went to the other side. And with both sides aiming for the billion dollar mark, a million chump change. If this was reported on big media, it is beyond meaningless. They are desperate. Politically speaking, he just lost North Carolina. Was that really worth a million dollars.

  22. So Obama rolls out a half-measure that he “personally” thinks gay marriage should be legal, but that it should be up to the states to decide … um, isn’t that how it is now?
    —————————–
Oh my god. Obama is a closet advocate of states rights. He should take that closely held position over to Obamacare. Maybe he will when he loses the case. Yes, the country lost health care, but the states rights aspect appeals to the other side of my nature–he might say. To which I might say which of the 21 sides to your schitzo nature are you referring to, sir.

Sir is a word surviving from the surly days of old Serbia when certain serfs to ignorant to remember their lords name yet to servile to blaspheme them circumvented the situation by serving up the subservient word sir by which I now address a certain senior suripid who correctly surmised that I was surrupy enough to use the word sir after every word I said, sir. (As you can see, my plebe year at Annapolis was not wasted–much less forgotten. But it was a cakewalk compared to the 2008 primary. That was beast barracks and then some. The stain that will never ever be washed away.)

  23. Anyway, if Blacks are really so anti-gay, then is this a deal breaker for their support of Obama? How many will really stay home from voting for The First Black President(tm)
    ——————————————
Maybe if you tell them they are voting for the devil.

Fifty years ago, P.E. Harris company (Peter Pan Seafoods) marketed a brand of canned pink salmon under a new label: race track. The target market was black people. Their marketing team assured them that black people were great fans of the Kings sport of horse racing. So they commissioned an artist who drew with great precision a label depicting horses and their black jockeys racing, racing, racing around a Churchill Downs, the Preakness or the Kentucky Derby. It was all very impressive. Very. So they put it on the shelves of the stores in the black neighborhood, and not a can of it sold. Needless to say, the experts were befuddled. Befuddled that is until a young boy gave them the answer. It seems the artist portrayed he horses beautifully on the label, but failed to realize he had them running in the wrong direction. Whereupon, the experts concluded that black people are superstitious. Right or wrong that is a true story. And that is why it might be helpful for them to know that when Reverend Wright called him Black Jesus, he might have been in error and he might indeed be black Satan, in which case the operative question would be: would you worship Satan just because he is black? We know what big media would say: We will say anything and do anything to protect our lifestyle, and to hell with the people.

  24. UPDATE: The liberal Talking Points Memo reports that one Obama bundler, Jon Cooper, said the president’s announcement will make fundraising for the re-election campaign “immeasurably easier.”
    ——————–
What kind of hyperbole is that? Immeasurably easier? Just what does that mean. I know this asshole is reaching for heaven, but he has really jumped the shark. Are we to believe that because Bambi says the issue of gay marriage is for the states to decide that billions or more–we don’t know for sure because it is immeasurable will now flow into his coffers. Give me a break. The thing that is immeasurable was the foreign money that entered his coffers in 2008 with no FEC oversight. Another thing that is immeasurable is Obama treachery. And most immeasurable of all Oprahs waist line.

  25. I can tell you now, the ordinary gay on the street who does not listen with bated breath on this so called “gay leadership” has called bullshit on Obama with comments ranging from “must be election time” to “would’nt beleive a word he says” to “would you look at the pandering wiggle room”.

As far as I can see its only done one thing, fired up the republicans to get out and vote in Nov behind Romney and thats probably the dumbest thing, the Obama campaign could have done.

  26. My god the people you run into when you don’t have a sling shot, a sharp needle or a pellet gun. At Herrods no less. If you put Doctor Phil on the couch–I know for a fact, he would have much to say about her. And the first word would be racist. I have this on excellent authority.

  27. I can tell you now, the ordinary gay on the street who does not listen with bated breath on this so called “gay leadership” has called bullshit on Obama with comments ranging from “must be election time” to “would’nt beleive a word he says” to “would you look at the pandering wiggle room”
    ———————————————
Let us hope that at the moment of truth the rest of America is equally discerning.

  28. pm317: “I like Harris Faulkner. She is stunning.”
    ====

I agree; but hey, you got me in trouble the other day when I said I thought a Smiling Michelle Obama was beautiful. Harris Faulkner has the same eyes (eyebrows) as Audrey Tautou (lousy actress but my favorite looker on the big screen, next to Jennifer Lopez but I’m partial to brunettes too) and… Michelle Obama.

Makes me wonder about how women judge other women’s beauty….

  29. Obama Votes Present on Same-Sex Marriage; No Executive Action Promised

He’s personally in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage, but when it comes to this particular principle, he’s suddenly a Federalist:

The president stressed that this is a personal position, and that he still supports the concept of states deciding the issue on their own. But he said he’s confident that more Americans will grow comfortable with gays and lesbians getting married, citing his own daughters’ comfort with the concept.

So there you go gay voters and gay money men; Obama’s not going to do a damn thing for you, other than to take your money and votes.

    Happy now?

And remember, when a politician switches positions and moves even further to the left, the media doesn’t call it a flip-flop, they call it an “evolution.”

After all, if Obama is okay with states deciding the issue, that means he’s okay with what happened in North Carolina yesterday, correct? Which is a flip-flop, er, I mean, an evolution from yesterday.

Obama’s laughing [and making fools of the gay community once again] all the way to the bank.

Stupid-stupid people. The same people who stabbed Hillary in the back in 08′-

  30. Well, tee vee out-did itself yesterday over Oh’s announcement. 6abc (philly) announced it twice within the first 11 minutes – each time accompanied by its Breaking News banner. But I have to say on my behalf (ha ha) the invocation of his daughters brings back the oh-so-many Dims who endorsed him on behalf of their children.

Re: wbboei’s understandable lament (The thing that is immeasurable was the foreign money that entered his coffers in 2008 with no FEC oversight) pumapac’s effort has at least elicited a tangible response from the FEC on that issue, and a few others. mc- that is the Preamble to the Constitution..

Yes. The cliff note version for everything comes from our veritable constitutional scholar in chief.

  32. Gawker article linked upthread is the best response to Obama calling it BS.

In 2008, I had a heated conversation with a stranger in a parking lot, a gay man about who would be better, Hillary or Obama. He saw my Hillary sticker on the car and stopped me to talk. He was pretty supportive of Obama then and I wonder what he thinks of all this now. I guess we have to separate the activists from people on the street. Money may come but the votes may not.

  33. Non-partisan Super PAC looks to take down incumbents – CBS News Video
One Texas millionaire contends the system is rigged in favor of incumbents who have all the money and the name recognition. So he started an outside group that’s going after not Republicans or Democrats — but incumbents. His early success is making both parties uncomfortable. CBS News congressional correspondent Nancy Cordes reports.
His name is Leo Linbeck. So far I’ve failed to ascertain the name of the SuperPAC. Successes he claims are Holden, Manzullo, Schmidt. His next target: Reyes TX.

Harris has classical features and I am sure she will look stunning without makeup. Same can’t be said of MO — it is all about makeup for her and I marvel at the magic it does everytime she looks good.

Hey, I like Audrey Tautou — saw her in a new movie (Delicacy) recently but I am a sucker for French movies in general.

  35. Funny that Barack the celebrity used to say that he could raise a lot of money because he was a celebrity.

  36. There is a fundraising letter about this gay marriage issue — Althouse has a post on the email she received. It all makes one sick. Romney’s people better have a strong response. Obama is baiting them again, contraception/war on women/ now gay marriage.

  37. Can obama not just give his opinion without bringing the name of Christ into it? This makes me so very angry!

Since he came to Washington I have thought that obama might be the anti-christ. I was especially suspicious when I learned that he had named his limo ‘The Beast’. Now I don’t have to wonder any longer. He has proven it.

    http://barnhardt.biz/

“So, according to the antichrist Obama and his antichrist “wife”, the perfect, infinite act of charity, namely God freely choosing to give Himself totally and without reserve on the Cross for humanity in order to make reparation for the sins of the world, is an ANALOGUE to one man jamming his erect penis up into the feces-laden descending colon of another man, and using that as a point of friction for masturbation. Both actions, according to the antichrist Obama, are manifestations of “love”, and thus Christ”

  38. OK, THIS is really bullshit now. WAPO (I won’t link) has an article on Romney’s HIGH SCHOOL pranks and wait for it, troubling incidents in HS (!) as told by his classmates. Where are the fucking Obama stories?

  39. pm317: The acting by the others in “Delicacy” was so bad that it made Audrey look good. The screenwriting was pretty bad too. But I’ll see or read anything where I can gaze for a while on those flared eyebrows and the dimples. I also like her character off-screen, i.e. when she’s not acting. She’s no nut job like so many actors and actresses are. Reserved and modest.

I went to see her once in a performance of Ibsen’s ‘Doll House’. Again, disappointed in the acting though I keep making excuses for her – in that case, I said it must have been the director.

If I ever had anything to say about acting awards, my vote would not go to Tautou. But in a beauty contest, yes…

  40. In ‘Delicacy’ the director made me feel what the hell is she doing with THAT guy and then you kind of get an inkling why but not completely, kind of like take our word for it, he is special. So yeah, to that extent it was not as successful.

  41. “Makes me wonder about how women judge other women’s beauty….”

Not all women see with the same vision. Personally, I do not consider Harris stunning. She is a handsome woman in good shape but beyond that she does nothing for me. Her nose is strange – looks like a nose job with nostrils too widely flared, Her eyes are cold.

But she is FAR superior to MO whose inner ugly shows all so clearly on her face. MO exudes bitterness, discontent and hate and that is why I consider her so ugly. The scowl lines, the knit brows, the jug jaw, the contemptuous expression in her eyes paired with the big butt, big feet and hulking body stance make her one fugly bytch.

Plus her general hate for whites in general does nothing to endear her to me.

I will say Harris seems to have class, brains, comes across as highly educated and refined and for those reasons I find her far more attractive.

    I give her a 7. MO gets a 0.

Mrs Smith – good article, but where did it come from?
    __________

breitbart.com I posted the same link in the legislative ready Trayvon story. After reading through some of the comments referring to Breits untimely death- It seems his Team are going to pursue it further. (imo they should) Comments there from someone in the military with experience in forensics. He claims people dying of a heart attack have a bluish tinge to their skin color due to anoxia of oxygen getting to a vital organ, in this case his heart. It’s no secret (as said by Lassiter, the reporter, on the scene following Breit when he fell to the pavement. His face was beet red. Which would be a symptom seen as a reaction to a possibly toxic allergen) Also, said, was the tape released after his death is not the tape touted before his death.
So, there is another shoe to drop coming soon. Timing is everything in life.. you just have to be patient for the right time.

Talking about movies… ‘The International’, Clive Owen has scenes in it that would correspond… explaining Breit’s sudden death,

  43. Forgot to mention… The journalist, Lassiter has suddenly gone missing.. and cannot be found.

  44. Per Drudge links, Hollywood support is now pouring in millions after pro gay marriage interview.

  45. You nailed it, Basil.

ME-chelle reminds me of Oprah. On her show and in the picture on the cover of her magazine (I never buy it) Oprah looks attractive, however, have you ever seen a picture of her without make up? WHEW!

  46. How long has Lassiter, the reporter who witnessed Breitbart when he died, been missing? WOW!

  47. Question: who, pray tell, is Jon Cooper?

    Answer:

Jon Cooper (born February 1, 1955)[1] was the legislator for Suffolk County’s 18th district, serving from 2000 until 2011. He is a member of the Democratic Party. He was seen as a potential challenger to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, but he later declined. He was first elected to the Suffolk County Legislature in November 1999, representing the 18th Legislative District which encompasses the northern portions of the Town of Huntington. Jon and his spouse Robert have lived in Huntington since 1983. They have five adopted children.[1]

Question: what does Obama’s personal support for gay marriage, but deference to the states on the issue, when he could have done this by executive order given to Jon and his spouse Robert?

Answer: Barack has given them THE SLEEVES OFF HIS VEST. In other words, what Moon’s imply: nothing. Does nothing make it immeasurably easier for a bundler like Jon to attack contributions? Or was Shakespeare right when he said nothing will come of nothing.

  48. More grace from Romney:
Mitt Romney said Thursday that “back in high school I did some dumb things” but insisted that the prep school pranks chronicled in a news story were never intended to target gay students specifically.

“They talked about the fact that I played a lot of pranks in high school, and they described some that, boy, you just say to yourself, ‘Back in high school,’ you know, ‘I did some dumb things.’ If anyone was hurt by that or offended by that, obviously, I apologize. But overall, high school years were a long time ago,” Romney said on the “Kilmeade & Friends” radio program…

  49. Pray for Arpaio.

Now that Holder has stated he is going after him the sheriff better watch his back. He just might have a “Breitbart” moment.

Not that I fear Sheriff Joe’s ability to hold his own on every level but let’s face it – he’s in his 70’s. A “sudden” heart attack would not be questioned at all.

    Just saying.

Mitt Romney’s Vicious High School Prank Against A Likely-Gay Classmate Led Inexorably To The Victim’s Death By Natural Circumstances 46 Years Later
    —Ace

That’s how I read the Washington Post’s article about Romney.

The article attempts a Life of Two Men structure, documenting Romney’s rise and his victim’s fall. Most egregiously, it contrasts the very-much-later-in-life award of a Distinguished Alumni honor for Romney with this guy’s death, both in 2005, as if these things are related.

Along the way it also notes there was some “veiled racism” at the school — a football coach gave the nickname “Kamikazee” to a Japanese player –which doesn’t have anything to do with Romney.

Oh, right, it was the “culture that shaped him.” Also known as “America in 1959.” I guess Obama wouldn’t have had that insidious influence as a youngster, being off in Indonesia and such.

Anyway, here’s the Vicious Prank that led to this man’s Downward Spiral and eventually his Slow-Motion Death By Hazing in 2005.

Yes, he died in 2005. But by the way this article is written, it seriously attempts to suggest, between the lines, that his death by natural causes (at age 58 or thereabouts) was somehow all traceable back to Mitt Romney and the One Vicious Prank they could dig up.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. — Mitt Romney returned from a three-week spring break in 1965 to resume his studies as a high school senior at the prestigious Cranbrook School. Back on the handsome campus, studded with Tudor brick buildings and manicured fields, he spotted something he thought did not belong at a school where the boys wore ties and carried briefcases. John Lauber, a soft-spoken new student one year behind Romney, was perpetually teased for his nonconformity and presumed homosexuality. Now he was walking around the all-boys school with bleached-blond hair that draped over one eye, and Romney wasn’t having it.
“He can’t look like that. That’s wrong. Just look at him!” an incensed Romney told Matthew Friedemann, his close friend in the Stevens Hall dorm, according to Friedemann’s recollection. Mitt, the teenaged son of Michigan Gov. George Romney, kept complaining about Lauber’s look, Friedemann recalled.

A few days later, Friedemann entered Stevens Hall off the school’s collegiate quad to find Romney marching out of his own room ahead of a prep school posse shouting about their plan to cut Lauber’s hair. Friedemann followed them to a nearby room where they came upon Lauber, tackled him and pinned him to the ground. As Lauber, his eyes filling with tears, screamed for help, Romney repeatedly clipped his hair with a pair of scissors.

“It happened very quickly, and to this day it troubles me,” said Buford, the school’s wrestling champion, who said he joined Romney in restraining Lauber. Buford subsequently apologized to Lauber, who was “terrified,” he said. “What a senseless, stupid, idiotic thing to do.”

“It was a hack job,” recalled Maxwell, a childhood friend of Romney who was in the dorm room when the incident occurred. “It was vicious.”

“He was just easy pickins,” said Friedemann, then the student prefect, or student authority leader of Stevens Hall, expressing remorse about his failure to stop it.
The Washington Post continues on like this, documenting Romney’s pranks, attempting to make them seem sinister. Like, when he poses as cop and rousts some fellow students for having bottles of alcohol in their car, they talk about the “terror” of the incident, because, you know, the students could be expelled for having alcohol, and that terror hangs over them.

Until they find out it’s a gag, of course. But the Washington Post underscores that “terror.”

One thing they only mention later: Romney was a senior at an all-boys school, and high in the unofficial leadership of it.

Now, what happens when boys are in that situation is that they engage in hazing and power-plays. In British schools, older boys will often rape younger boys. It usually has bad consequences to put boys in charge of other boys. Look at any fraternity during Hell Week.

However, this seems to have been the only mean thing Romney did in his high school career.

Did I mention this was high school?

Anyway, back to how this One Prank destroyed this man’s life forever and led to his Suicide By Natural Causes 46 years later.

After lights out, John Lauber often left his door open….
“He was very quiet, not a jock,” said Steph Lady. “Very soft-spoken. I know nothing, probably gay, but who knows. We were so stupid and naïve. I know there was homosexuality there but we didn’t even have a word for it. And there was homophobia then, too.”

Victim. Oppressor. Writes itself, doesn’t it?

On an overcast Saturday, David Craig, a senior prefect and day student, drove his car down Martell Drive along the school grounds and saw a figure duck into the hedges. He thought the person might be trespassing and stopped, only to find Lauber puffing on a cigarette. In a move that he said he later regretted as an excess of the “dorm trooper” mentality instilled by Cranbrook, Craig reported Lauber to the headmaster. Soon after, Lauber was expelled.
    “He just disappeared,” Lady said.

Sudden disappearances at Cranbrook were not unheard of. Students might pass a dorm neighbor on the way to class and come back hours later, with all their belongings gone and their beds stripped by maintenance staff. Bad behavior and bad grades were not tolerated.

Yes, a strict private school is similar to the Soviet gulag and should be discussed using similar language.

On June 12, 1965, Romney concluded his Cranbrook career at a commencement ceremony at the Christ Church, in which his father delivered a keynote address reported on by the local papers.

“This is a special occasion for us as a family,” George Romney told the gathered boys before emphasizing that religion and “the one girlfriend whom you finally take the greatest interest in” and good health habits were critical for a successful life. So, he said, was character. “Developing character is going to be more important than your education from now on.” The ceremony concluded with all the boys singing a final rendition of their school song, “Forty years on.”

“Forty years on, when afar and asunder

Parted are those who are singing today,

When you look back, and forgetfully wonder

What you were like in your work and your play,

Then, it may be, there will often come o’er you,

Glimpses of notes like the catch of a song –

Visions of boyhood shall float them before you,

Echoes of dreamland shall bear them along,

Follow up! Follow up! Follow up!”

See, this is the bridge used to connect 1959 with 2004/2005. After all, Romney once quoted a poem called “Forty Years On.” So he admits they’re related!

Forty years on, Mitt Romney accepted the school’s 2005 Distinguished Alumni Award.
A year earlier, John Joseph Lauber died at a Seattle hospital.

From Advanced Forcible Haircut Trauma, but no newspapers ever reported that.

Mitt Romney has now apologized for pranks which “might have gone too far.”

And yet John Joesph Lauber, the Human Seamus, remains dead.

None of your apologies will bring this shattered man back to life, Governor.

You murdered him with those scissors. The wound just needed 46 years to claim its victim.

FIRST POST-PRIMARY POLL OUT OF WISCONSIN: WALKER 50% BARRETT 45%
NO BOUNCE FOR BARRETT (SO FAR).

The Governor leads his opponent by the same margin found by Daily Kos’ PPP poll three weeks ago.

There are very few undecideds, as Marquette University, numerous pundits and we here at AOSHQ have said for a while. Just 2% of voters polled say they are undecided at this point, 2% are vying for a 3rd party choice, and 1% are presumably clueless. This was a poll of 500 Likely Voters, in case there were any questions about RV/LV.

From here on out, it is safer to follow Likely Voter models as we are getting a real sense (confirmed by Tuesday) of who is motivated for turnout. This isn’t going to be a D+3 or D+2 or even D+1 crowd. At best for Barrett it looks to be about even, at worst, R+3 (again, pulling from the shock voter turnout amonsgt Republicans Tuesday). Ignore any “adult” or “registered” polling unless there is an LV subsample. Today’s Rasmussen poll is R+3. Walker leads 51-43 with Independents.

PPP will be doing another poll for DailyKos, if this confirms the lack of a bounce Barrett has serious work to do if he hopes to knock out Walker.

Guess that turnout Tuesday really did indicate something.

  54. Obama Attorney General Looks To Crush Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio

by Ulsterman on May 10, 2012 with 2 Comments in News

Controversial Arisona Sheriff Joe Arpaio has made significant enemies within the Obama administration and now he faces the full power of a United States Attorney General – the Obama Department of Justice has just announced its intention to sue Sheriff Arpaio and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office for “Civil Rights violations” stemming from Arpaio’s consistently aggressive stance against illegal immigration. In more recent months, Arpaio has been involved in an ongoing investigation as to the validity of some of Barack Obama’s personal history documents.

  55. Anyone else find it awfully “transparent” that BO chose the black journalist Robin Roberts for the gay marriage interview?

    He is so FOS.

  56. That WAPO story is laughable. The guy who is the purported target for the prank died in 2004 and the principal source for this story, another student at that prep school is an Obama campaign minion.

My sense is that Joe lives by one motto: God created men, Smith and Wesson made them equal, and bring it on. I think what we really need is partition. We will give Obama and his cretins their own country within the country, i.e. statum im statum, as Elija Mohammed prophesied. But we get to keep Silvias at Lennox street in Harlem.

“Hope”? As Darrow said to the Judge in the Scope’s monkey trial when he said he hoped Darrow’s disparaging comment was not aimed at him: Your Honor has a right to hope.

  63. I guess we have to separate the activists from people on the street. Money may come but the votes may not.

  64. I keep looking at Adolph Axelrod aka Grease, and saying to myself he is a mutt. I hold no brief for Rove, but the difference is obvious. Axelrod lacks verbal adeptness and mental acuity. He is not fit to carry Rove’s jock strap, to put it crudely. But crude is the only thing Grease understands. Subtlety is lost on him.

  65. It is not just that Obama is in competition with Mitt Romney for a portion of these voters (blacks and youth); he also has to contend with APATHY (emphasis added). Young voters and African Americans turned out in record huge numbers for him in 2008, and there is pressure on Team Obama to match those targets set four years ago. Failing to meet them could be a substantial dilemma for Mr. Obama.

  66. FIRST POST-PRIMARY POLL OUT OF WISCONSIN: WALKER 50% BARRETT 45%

    =================

When those two ran against each other in a recent regular election, iirc the margin was much closer. After the union controversy, another poll found that union households were changing their minds and an election at that time would have more votes against Walker than in the regular election.

With all the work by Walker’s opponents, it seems odd that the margin would now be higher for Walker. So I’d suspect some difference in the RV/LV algorithms.

  67. The answer to these slow learners, when they say they will vote for Obama again is, repeating the same mistake twice and expecting a different result is a form of self delusion which borders on insanity.

Cracks in the Washington Post story on Romney’s ‘pranks’ emerge

A question emerges in reading the Washington Post piece on Mitt Romney today: How can Romney’s old pal Stu White tell the Washington Post that he has “long been bothered by the Lauber incident” — and then later admit to ABC News that he was “not present for the prank” and “was not aware of it until this year when he was contacted by the Washington Post”?

    This is curious.

The Washington Post story reports: “I always enjoyed his pranks,” said Stu White, a popular friend of Romney’s who went on to a career as a public school teacher and has long been bothered by the Lauber incident.”

But ABC News, says: “White was not present for the prank, in which Romney is said to have forcefully cut a student’s long hair and was not aware of it until this year when he was contacted by the Washington Post.”

    (Emphasis mine.)

  77. Flashback: Obama’s Sordid High School Past

    by Ben Shapiro

While the Washington Post has been diligently digging into relatively innocent high school pranks by Mitt Romney, they’ve spent the last few years diligently ignoring President Obama’s far more controversial high school days.

Obama, by all accounts, was a habitual drug user in high school. He tried cocaine, he admits in Dreams From My Father; he “tried drugs enthusiastically.” The Chicago Tribune reported back in 2007 that Obama thanked the “Choom Gang” in his high school yearbook; “chooming” was Hawaiian slang for smoking pot. The Honolulu Advertiser reported that Obama’s senior portrait “prominently displayed … A package of ‘Zig-Zag’ rolling papers and a matchbook.” One of Obama’s close friends was arrested for drug possession during high school.

In his memoir, Obama talked about routinely getting high. “Junkie. Pothead,” he wrote. “That’s where I’d been headed: the final, fatal role of the young would-be black man.” But, according to Obama, he only got high because he was contemplating deep matters: drugs could “push questions of who I was out of my mind.”

Obama told students in 2007 that this activity constituted “goofing off” and “wasting time”:

“I will confess to you that I was kind of a goof off in high school as my mom reminded me,” Obama said. “I went to high school in Hawaii, so there’s a lot of opportunity to goof off because the weather is really good all the time …

“You know, I made some bad decisions …. You know, got into drinking and experimenting with drugs. There was a whole stretch of time where I didn’t apply myself. It wasn’t until I got out of … high school, and went to college that I started realizing, man, I wasted a lot of time.”

House to Eric Holder: Stop lying to us

The House Wednesday evening voted overwhelmingly to prevent the Justice Department from using taxpayer funds to lie to Congress.

The vote came in a Wednesday evening series of amendments to a bill, H.R. 5326, funding the Justice Department for 2013. Members approved the language in a 381-41 vote; all 41 “no” votes came from Democrats, although 142 Democrats voted with Republicans in support of the amendment.
    Read more in News

The vote reflects the ongoing frustration Republicans — and apparently some Democrats — have with Attorney General Eric Holder.

…The House also approved other controversial funding limitation amendments, including one to prevent Justice from defending the 2010 healthcare law, and to prevent Justice from suing states over over voter ID laws.

WH won’t push gay marriage into party platform

President Obama declared his personal support for same-sex marriage yesterday, but the White House chose not to push for the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act today.

“Well, party platform issues are for the party to decide,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said when asked if Obama would call for the repeal of DOMA and endorsement of pro-gay marriage language in the party platform. “That process is underway, and I refer you to the DNC on the question about the platform.”

He added that “the President’s belief that DOMA ought to be repealed is well stated.”

Carney refused to disclose when Obama actually completed the process of “evolving” towards support for gay marriage. “I don’t have a specific date for you,” he said.

Though I cannot take credit for everything that has been done, and certainly for what yet is still to be done, I must confess just a bit of personal pride in the results, if not my own part in bringing those results to fruition.

I am writing you now to give you just a bit of insight into some very interesting conversations that have taken place at SALT. As you may or may not be aware, those attending this event are among the very brightest and most astute economic prognosticators of what is to come, for that is the foundation upon which their own personal empires have been built, and the considerable obligations they hold to some equally impressive, successful, and influential clientele.

In essence, what is being repeated, according to those I remain in contact with on a daily basis, is the growing sense of economic unease should Barack Obama be given a second term as President of the United States. And please note that this unease is not simply a domestic product within the borders of this country, but rather a quickly spreading sense of needing to brace for the worst that is now being communicated by financial powers throughout the world.
    *********************************************************************
The fiscal obligations of the State, be it America, France, Italy, Greece, Portugal, the UK, etc., has not only reached, but actually surpassed critical mass at this point. By that I mean to say, hopefully in terms clearly understood by you and others, that there must now be an economic reckoning. That reckoning is no longer unavoidable and many among the SALT attendees are preparing for just that scenario. The only question that remains is how severe, how painful, will that reckoning be.

My own prognosis, based upon that already told to me, and that which my own lifetime of experience would indicate, suggests if Barack Obama is to win re-election in 2012, certain economic doom for every man, woman, and child in America will soon follow. It may not prove as jarring in the short term as what took place in 2008, but a gradual and seemingly never-ending decline that will sink every one of us deeper and deeper and deeper into the abyss. I am convinced China has in place a plan for this event, and has taken measures to help ensure its reality. Their own economic slowdown, already underway, is not a natural thing but rather a strictly coordinated event from within its own central planning regime. They are more than willing to undertake their own short term pain and even widespread chaos if necessary, so long as they emerge the dominant economic power of the world in the aftermath. I have spoken of this to you in prior conversations and have since had those fears confirmed by others who most certainly have the access to verify them. The only question then remaining is if this is being done without President Obama’s knowledge and understanding, or if is he in fact a willing agent of this global economic transformation that will leave the United States subservient to other nations and or some form of global governance? My more recently formed understanding leads me to the inevitable fact of the latter, and I am not alone in coming to this conclusion. Whispers of it are being sent out by participants at SALT, particularly from the Hedge side of the proverbial fence.

Should Mitt Romney be elected, there will still be pain for our economy. That is no longer avoidable. Far too much damage has been done over the course of these last few years.

A President Romney provides at least the hope of a recovery that leaves most of what we know as American still intact.

A President Obama second term leaves little to nothing we know as America intact. I cannot promise whether or not Mr. Romney has the fortitude necessary to face the challenge of what is coming in 2013. I do know that he genuinely wants to at least try. That cannot be said of Barack Obama.

I told you recently I thought evil had come to the White House and to America. That was not the ramblings of an old sick man. I remain convinced of that belief. I know of evil. I have seen its wicked hand hiding behind the smiling false promise of Hope and Change as it rips away the futures of the innocent from the face of this earth.
And so, for the first time in my life, I now fight directly against a presidential candidate.

And if I might say, hopefully without sounding too terribly arrogant, I am not one to lose. As our mutual friend once said in their own unique and quite appropriate way, ”He needs his ass kicked into the dirt.”

I intend to do just that.

  82. After recruiting the assistance of private investigators, WND found that Lasseter, the 26-year-old witness who saw Breitbart drop dead, is no longer residing at his last known address in California.

At the request of WND, Ohio-based private investigator Susan Daniels recruited a California-based private investigator to find Lasseter. The local investigator tried without success to find a cell phone or landline phone number for Lasseter.

After determining that Lasseter lived with his parents, Thornton, age 64, and Elaine, age 56, at a Los Angeles address, the investigator visited the residence in-person to see if he could make contact.

    http://www.wnd.com/2012/05/now-a-witness-to-breitbarts-death-disappears/

During the visit, the investigator reported, no one picked up the phone when he dialed the Lasseter apartment number outside the building. But he was greeted by a voice recording that identified different people at the apartment by first name, with none of the names on the recording being Christopher, Thornton or Elaine.

The investigator concluded Christopher Lasseter had “hunkered down” in what seemed to be an attempt to avoid further questioning.

He was unsure Lasseter was still residing at the address and considered it possible that Lasseter had moved.

On March 1, Crime File News reported Lasseter was walking his dog in Brentwood, Calif., when he saw Breitbart cross the street from the Brentwood Restaurant.

Breitbart was walking without apparent distress when he stepped on the curb “and fell like a sack of potatoes,” Lasseter said.

He noted that Breitbart’s skin color was bright red, which is not typically associated with heart attack victims.

Paul Huebl, who writes for Crime File News, reported April 22 that he interviewed Lasseter and added the detail that the witness was disturbed by Breitbart’s color.

As a former Army medic, Huebl knew that most heart attack victims turned blue.

Reporter Who Failed To Ask Obama Why He Had Misrepresented His Position For Eight Long Lying Years: “I’m Getting Chills Again”

What have you found most enchanting?

“Whatever people think about this issue, we know it’s controversial, there’s no denying when a president speaks out for the first time like that, it is history,” co-host of ABC’s “Good Morning America” George Stephanopoulos said to Robin Roberts.
And let me tell you, George, I’m getting chills again,” “Good Morning America” co-host Robin Roberts said about her interview with Obama.

“When you sit in that room and you hear him say those historic words. It was not lost on anyone in there right there. You never know what he’s going to say until you ask him,” she added.

The media is so unbiased and professional about withholding their personal opinions from their reportage that I have literally no idea whatsoever whether the media favors this announcement or opposes it.

The stuff that is now coming out sickens me. The Chicago way of politics is beyond reproach. Barack et al. make Al Capone look like a baby thug in comparison.

  88. re: WSI interview

Is anyone else wondering why economic transformation is being discussed by the participants at SALT? It’s supposed to be about weaponry. Those were the discussions that resulted in treaties to reduce the nuclear arsenals of the US and USSR, iirc.

  89. Tony,

I’m not sure that’s the correct organization.

“The Strategic Arms Limitation Talks refers to two rounds of bilateral talks and corresponding international treaties involving the United States and the Soviet Union—the Cold War superpowers—on the issue of armament control. There were two rounds of talks and agreements: SALT I and SALT II.

Negotiations commenced in Helsinki, Finland, in 1969. SALT I led to the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty and an interim agreement between the two powers. Although SALT II resulted in an agreement in 1979, the United States chose not to ratify the treaty in response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, which took place later that year. The US eventually withdrew from SALT II in 1986.”

  90. Now THIS is karma on a grand scale, especially if it turns out to be true.

Several segments today about black churches diminishing support for BO coz he came out in support of gay marriage. Even Roly-poly Martin talked about it with Spritzer at CNN.

Norman Lear, the television producer, said moments after the announcement that he and his wife, Lyn, who had held back from giving money to Mr. Obama, would now contribute the maximum allowed, $80,000 between them. “This is the kind of leadership we support, and we are happy to max out today to his re-election campaign,” he said.”

  99. Obama’s politics of distraction
    Steve McCann

While Europe is inching ever closer to plunging into a financial abyss, there are moments of comic relief provided by the current President of the United States. He has not only become the butt of innumerable jokes but his re-election campaign tactics are the stuff of low-brow comedy. A case in point, his recent “evolution” in to supporting gay marriage.
Today Tim Stanley of the U.K. Telegraph writes:

The day after North Carolina voted 60-40 to ban gay marriage, Barack Obama did what any sane politician would do…endorse gay marriage. He told ABC that he felt compelled to by the gay interns he knew, his wife, his children and Jesus. Why did he do it? Sheer, naked opportunism. Like the contraception issue before it, this is an attempt to distract from how bad the economy is. What will Obama do next in his desperate bid for re-election? Make a claim on the Falklands?

It is unlikely that Obama is taking a principled stand for civil rights. In 1996, he said he was for gay marriage. In 2004, when he was running for the Senate, he said that Jesus told him it was wrong (Jesus apparently, changes his mind almost as often as the Prez). In 2008, he repeated that gay marriage was a step too far. Then I he started to “evolve” and, like the caterpillar, he turned into a beautiful pink butterfly.

Also, Mitt’s reputation for flip-flopping is no longer a problem. Obama just flipped right over his head, did a 180 in the air, and landed on his backside on the other side of the political compass. Flopping is a dead issue in 2012.

There is little doubt that the geniuses in the Obama re-election campaign are hoping that this tactic will reach the same level of distraction that the so-called “war on women” achieved while enabling them to pull in millions of dollars from the gay and Hollywood crowd whose only interest is their unfettered lifestyle.

However, this is not a matter of who pays for contraceptives; it strikes to the very heart of society. Virtually every time the issue has been brought up to a popular vote the gay marriage propositions have been defeated — in 32 states.

With this and his other many cynical tactics combined with an economy that will get worse as the year goes on, Mr. Obama has assured his defeat in November. All the Republicans need do is ignore this sudden transformation, reiterate their support for heterosexual marriage and then allow and rely upon the average voters in the various states to ban gay marriage. All the while Mitt Romney and all other Republican candidates must focus entirely on Obama’s appalling economic record.

As for those on the left ecstatic about this endorsement, Tim Stanley cautions:

As for gay rights campaigners, I hope they won’t be fooled by this empty, cynical gesture. Why did Obama wait until after the North Carolina vote to back gay marriage?
Cowardice, perhaps? Ladies and gentlemen, Obama is a politician. He’ll take your money and your votes and give you nothing in return. At least Mitt Romney might cut your taxes.

Which reminds me of another canned salmon story. Maybe you can tell us if it’s true. Someone had a supply of white salmon, but no one would buy it, till they added a label saying “Guaranteed not to turn pink in the can.”
    ——————-
White salmon–technically white king are never put in a can. They are too valuable sold fresh or frozen. Therefore the hypothetical assumes facts not in evidence.

  105. I commented a couple threads ago he would trot out gay marriage to rile up the base.

And timing is everything: Today Obama is in LA for a fundraiser where he’s expected to get a fat check from George Clooney.
    ——————————
This is business as usual. It will not work. The only thing that will work for him is for the economy to turn. Clooney is a side show, and nobody cares about his political tripe.

  106. Obama cheerleader Joe Scarborough mocks other Obama cheerleaders:

    http://www.politico.com/blogs/joe-scarborough/2012/05/obamas-media-cheerleaders-123113.html

The response to President Obama’s same-sex marriage statement yesterday was fascinating on many fronts. Most entertaining was the reaction of the president’s cheering section in the mainstream media.

Who knew the New York Times could be such champions of states’ rights?

In fact, I think it is safe to say that this many Democrats haven’t been as supportive of 10th Amendment federalism since Lester Maddox and George Wallace controlled Southern states during the days of segregation.

The best laugh-out-loud moment came when the Times sent out a breathless breaking news alert at 3:16 pm, crammed with shameless spin and naked cheerleading. Public Editor Arthur Brisbane take note that the Newspaper of Record recorded the moment this way:

“President Obama declared for the first time that he supports same-sex marriage, putting the moral power of his presidency behind a social issue that continues to divide the country.”

The moral power of his presidency? Really?

Exactly how did the New York Times come to that conclusion when Barack Obama said he would not use his power as president to stop others from banning gay marriage?

Did any member of the Times newsroom actually believe that the president was ever personally against same-sex marriage? Where was the editor who approved that language over the past decade?

Do these progressive cheerleaders of the president realize that their hero has now adopted a position on gay marriage that is horrifyingly close to the views of Ron Paul, Barry Goldwater, William F. Buckley, Ronald Reagan and yes, even me.

    If not, they should.

Since I believe that most social issues should be handled on the state level, Barack Obama’s declaration was like Morning in America all over again!

But the impact of Obama’s statement may not be so positive in the long run for America’s top newspapers and networks. They continue to be enablers of a liberal politician who has long played a cynical game on an issue critical to most who run those same media outlets.

Is a Democratic victory in November really that important to these journalists or are they just blinded by love?

The only thing that the statement by the president proved is that those same news organizations are now defending a position on gay marriage that would make Bill Buckley proud.

Scarborough did not mention Obama now has Dick Cheney’s position of eight years ago.

  111. Flashback: Obama’s Sordid High School Past

The New York Times, however, went out of its way to find Obama’s classmates to testify that drugs played only a “bit part” in Obama’s youth. Yet Obama would later brag on the campaign trail that he “inhaled frequently … that was the point.”

During his high school years, Obama hung out with communist radical Frank Marshall Davis; in 2007, the Los Angeles Times reported that during his high school days, “he felt the first stirrings of anger toward whites. He says he also delved into black nationalism.” He was “offended or even enraged when white classmates adopted black street slang or revealed their underlying consciousness of his race by going out of their way to tell him how much they admired a black musician or athlete.”

This activity is certainly more reflective of Obama’s ideological history than Mitt Romney’s pranks on teachers and fellow students. And as for the drug use – well, that seems just a bit more serious than walking a teacher into a door or cutting a student’s hair. But leave it to the Post to ignore or downplay all of that in favor of continuing stories about Romney’s dog, his high school hijinks, and whatever other nonsense they can use to protect President Obama from his own incompetence.

  112. Bill Wanted Hillary to Challenge Obama in This Year’s Primary?

The last Morning Jolt of the week offers minute-by-minute progression of Romney/RNC rapid response, Bully-gate, and one of my favorite figures in politics getting a long look as a Romney running mate… and then this intriguing allegation:

The Alleged Hillary Primary Challenge That Almost Happened

Did this really happen? Easy to believe, at any rate…

Bill Clinton thought so little of President Obama — mocking him as an “amateur” — that he pressed his wife last summer to quit her job as secretary of state and challenge him in the primaries, a new book claims,

“The country needs you!” the former president told Hillary Clinton, urging her to run this year, according to accounts of the conversation included in Edward Klein’s new biography of Obama.

The title of Klein’s explosive, unauthorized bio of Obama, “The Amateur” (Regnery Publishing), was taken directly from Bill Clinton’s bombshell criticism of the president, the author said.

Mister President, it’s not too late to endorse Keith Judd.

    Bill blockbuster: O’s an ‘amateur’

Bill Clinton thought so little of President Obama — mocking him as an “amateur” — that he pressed his wife last summer to quit her job as secretary of state and challenge him in the primaries, a new book claims,

“The country needs you!” the former president told Hillary Clinton, urging her to run this year, according to accounts of the conversation included in Edward Klein’s new biography of Obama.

The title of Klein’s explosive, unauthorized bio of Obama, “The Amateur” (Regnery Publishing), was taken directly from Bill Clinton’s bombshell criticism of the president, the author said.

“Barack Obama,” Bill Clinton said, according to book excerpts, “is an amateur.”

The withering criticism is incredible, given the fact that Bill Clinton is actively campaigning for Obama’s re-election.

But according to the book, Bill Clinton unloaded on Obama and pressed Hillary to run against her boss during a gathering in the ex-president’s home office in Chappaqua last August that included longtime friends, Klein said.

“The economy’s a mess, it’s dead flat. America has lost its Triple-A rating . . . You know better than Obama does,” Bill said.

Bill Clinton insisted he had “no relationship” with Obama and had been consulted more frequently by his presidential successor, George W. Bush.

Obama, Bill Clinton said, “doesn’t know how to be president” and is “incompetent.”

But Hillary resisted the entreaties, according to two of the guests interviewed for the book.

“Why risk everything now?” a skeptical Hillary told her husband, emphasizing that she wanted to leave a legacy as secretary of state.

“Because,” Bill replied, his voice rising, “the country needs you!”

“The country needs us!” added Bill.

He later even joked about the prospect of having two Clinton presidential libraries — about the only time that Hillary cracked a smile.

“I want my term [at the State Department] to be an important one, and running away from it now would leave it as a footnote,” Hillary argued.

She said she had the option of running again in 2016.

    But Bill wouldn’t let go.

“I know you’re young enough!” Bill said, his voice booming. “That’s not what I’m worried about. I’m worried that I’m not young enough.”

“I’m the highest-ranking member in Obama’s Cabinet. I eat breakfast with the guy every Thursday morning. What about loyalty, Bill? What about loyalty?” she responded.

“Loyalty is a joke,’’ Bill shot back. “Loyalty doesn’t exist in politics.”

Bill’s verbal battle with Hillary over the presidency, if anything, intensified when daughter Chelsea showed up with her husband, Marc Mezvinsky.

“You deserve to be president,” Chelsea said.

Bill was clearly pleased that Chelsea was on his side and vowed to have allies commission polls on a Hillary-Obama matchup.

“What are you trying to do — force my hand?” Hillary said.

“I want everyone to know how strong you poll,” Bill said.

Hillary said, “Go ahead and knock yourself out.”

The book’s explosive claims were shot down last night by spokesmen for the White House and the Clintons, who closed ranks last night.

Bill Clinton’s spokesman Matt McKenna said the excerpts were “totally and completely false” and called Klein “a known liar.”

Phillipe Reines, a spokesman for the secretary of state, noted that Hillary Clinton challenged the veracity of an earlier book Klein wrote about her, “Truth About Hillary.”

White House spokesman Eric Schultz accused Klein of making up facts to sell books.

“Nobody in their right mind would believe the nonsense in this one, especially since both Secretary Clinton and President Clinton have been loyal and supportive of the president at every turn.”

Klein, a former editor of The New York Times Magazine and Newsweek, defended the book and his earlier one as factually sound.

    ………………………………..

There will be sleeves getting yanked off at the WH today……..

  114. Now that it came out into the open, it is time Hillary resigns and challenge the amateur.

Country needs her and only she can save us

  115. The Klein book sounds like it’s meant to start the rumor mill grinding…

Can you imagine WJC saying, even in private, that “loyalty doesn’t exist in politics”? I mean, that would exhibit an enormous ignorance of politics. Of course loyalty exists, and is very important in politics. That’s why WJC is campaigning now as he did in 2010, for Hillary’s 2008 supporters.

  116. If loyalty exists in politics, Obama would not have stabbed Alice palmer in the back when he first ran for Illinois Assembly.

  117. A Hillary primary challenge? Good, I love that this is getting air time.

Mourdock had the audacity to whomp the heck out of six-term U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar in Tuesday’s Indiana Republican primary. Mourdock’s sin, according to the high priests of establishment journalism? He’s a conservative, and a constitutionalist, backed by the tea party. Watching all this from the bordering state once called Illinois — now known as the wind-swept economic wasteland of Madiganistan — makes me wonder what it would be like to live in Indiana or Wisconsin, where Republicans aren’t always eager to help the Democratic machine bosses. So Mourdock’s victory isn’t making everyone happy. Lugar was of Washington, he was the establishment. He was one of theirs. So the high priests approve another narrative, that Mourdock’s victory helps the president because Mourdock is a tea party conservative and, therefore, extreme. No matter that Mourdock’s victory was also an unmistakable message to establishment Republicans that voters are tired of them.
My brother Peter heard a great line on the Indiana campaign and called me as I sat down to write this. He got it from iconoclast Democrat-turned-tea-party-conservative talker Tammy Bruce.”It was a gigantic grapefruit in the face,” she said. “We’re Jimmy Cagney and we had a grapefruit, and the establishment is at the table, and we smushed the grapefruit in the face of the establishment.”
I hope it was a pink grapefruit. They’re tastier. It’s a great image, from the old James Cagney gangster movie, one of utter, sneering contempt. It’s the kind of thing that frightens establishment Republicans. And it’s about time they’re frightened.
Lugar was out of touch. He had sold his Indiana home decades ago, and had become more a creature of the Washington establishment than a native son. That cost him in Tuesday’s primary. And although Mourdock has won, he’s been demonized by the national media. The tea party has been vilified since its members began gathering to fight growing debt and runaway government. The Republican establishment loathes them. The Democratic establishment mocks them. And what is their sin, exactly? That they look to the Constitution for guidance? Did you ever think that the Constitution would be considered a radical manifesto?
“Lugar defeat fits Obama campaign narrative on GOP,” said a headline in the Los Angeles Times, a headline that should by rights have been written by President Barack Obama’s media merlin, David Axelrod. The story went on to tell us that although Obama was saddened by Lugar’s defeat, and so was Vice President Joseph Biden, Lugar’s loss basically helps the Democrats in November. The New York Times also slapped Mourdock for sticking to principle rather than bending like a moderate Republican, with the headline “Many Pursuits, but Bipartisanship Isn’t One of Them.” The story went on to remind us that Mourdock often gets so emotional talking about policy that he’s apt to shed tears, a la House Speaker John Boehner.
You could fill volumes with such examples. Conservatives are rigid and inflexible, and wed to ideology by unrealistic passion. But Republican moderates who’ve spent years going along with big spending by Republican and Democratic White Houses, and doing little about entitlements that will surely drown young Americans in debt, are considered reasonable and pragmatic. And so the high priests define the terms.
It would be too easy to buy into the old rant about the so-called liberal media. Let’s leave that to Republican media cheerleaders. Are there more liberal journalists than conservative ones? Of course. You’d have to be a moron to think otherwise. But that’s too easy. I don’t think it’s a question of liberal or conservative as much as it is about maintaining the status quo. Despite what conservative talk radio hosts tell you, journalists are human. The odd thing about human beings is that many are uneasy about change, preferring, like most humans, the status quo. And what is the status quo in Washington? Maintaining the government as a federal feed bag, even though it’s obvious that the ones who’ll have to fill it are the young people, who’ll ultimately get stuck with the bill.
But anything that threatens the present state of affairs — and nothing threatens it more than the tea party folks brandishing the Constitution — is worrisome. There’s no better place to witness journalists wiggly with celebrating the status quo than at two amazing gatherings: the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner and, even worse, the Gridiron Club dinner, in which reporters perform musical numbers for the Washington political establishment. The correspondents’ dinner is about guest status. The media outlet whose table includes a new chief justice or the eye candy on the arm of George Clooney is considered a smashing success.
The Gridiron is about singing and dancing on stage, and the president applauds as the journalists put on a musical show. They wear costumes, and the lyrics of their songs are replete with witty inside jokes. What these rituals accomplish is to wed journalists to the establishment. And so the high priests go forth, offering political epistles, declaring some politicians to be reasonable and others to be dangerous and heretical. And those folks who actually believe the Constitution is a sacred document? They’re not included. They’re kept outside, where they wait, grapefruits in their hands.

I don’t think you can find many examples of Clinton ruthlessness, throwing people under the bus; but the examples of Clinton loyalties are manifold. And this statement was (falsely, imo) attributed to WJC.

I don’t think you can find many instances of Romney’s ruthlessness either.

Six months from now, we’ll know if ruthlessness pays off better than loyalty.

  122. HRC’s alleged statement, “What about loyalty?” I can believe that. It’s in character for her. It also indicates her political astuteness. It’s WJC’s alleged reply that I can’t believe.

HRC has indeed been loyal throughout her tenure as SoS despite disagreements – possibly even fundamental disagreements – that certainly arose between her and her boss.

Lugar Loss Highlights Sour Relationship Between Voters and Politicians -Friday, May 11, 2012

When relationships go bad, an early warning sign is that one side doesn’t really hear what the other is saying. That’s certainly the case today in the relationship between voters and America’s Political Class. Many in Washington, D.C. took comfort over the past year in polling data showing that fewer voters consider themselves part of the Tea Party movement. Only 13% claim such a tie today, roughly half its peak in 2010. This was reassuring to those in power, suggesting voters were willing to let the politicians return to politics as usual. But the panic returned to Washington this week following the defeat of 36-year incumbent Senator Richard Lugar in a Republican primary election….

Family of alleged Romney victim angry over exploitation of story
posted at 8:41 am on May 11, 2012 by Ed Morrissey

The family of the eight-years-deceased alleged victim of a cruel prank by a teenaged Mitt Romney reacted angrily to the Washington Post story yesterday — but not for the reasons one might imagine. Calling the Washington Post story “factually inaccurate,” the sisters of the late John Lauber lashed out at the Post for using him to “further a political agenda” (via Ed Driscoll at Instapundit):

The older sister of Mitt Romney’s former high school classmate said she has no knowledge of any bullying incident involving her brother and the GOP presidential candidate.

Christine Lauber of South Bend, Ind., had not seen the Washington Post’s story that described an incident when Mitt Romney bullied her brother, but said she was aware of the story. The incident centered around Romney allegedly holding the scissors to help cut the hair of John Lauber, who was presumed to be gay and who had long hair.

Neither of his sisters had heard of the incident from their brother, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. That’s not their main complaint, though:

Betsy Lauber, one of John Lauber’s three sisters, spoke with ABC News Tuesday night regarding the accuracy of the story.

“The family of John Lauber is releasing a statement saying the portrayal of John is factually incorrect and we are aggrieved that he would be used to further a political agenda. There will be no more comments from the family,” she said.

    Christine Lauber echoed her sister:

She added she and her sisters will likely put out a statement later via a family attorney.

“If he were still alive today, he would be furious [about the story],” she said with tears in her eyes.

ABC notes that both sisters were quoted in the WaPo article. It seems that they were unaware of the real subject matter, or at least the way the Post intended to use their recollections of their brother. It might be interesting to see what else an attorney might have to say about the matter.

We kept the fact that he could walk a secret the whole time his dad was gone!”

  151. Rasmussen does ‘Likely’ voters which is a bit more accurate than ‘registered’ voters.

    ==================

First catch your ‘likely voters’. Registered voters is an objective fact, at least if you got your calling list from the voter registration office).

‘Likely voters’ are guessed at by questions about their history of voting, their feelings at the moment of the call, etc. Each poll uses different questions, according to the opinions of the pollsters.

  152. Many in Washington, D.C. took comfort over the past year in polling data showing that fewer voters consider themselves part of the Tea Party movement. Only 13% claim such a tie today, roughly half its peak in 2010.

    =====================

That’s interesting. Maybe the other 13% didn’t like what Scott Brown and other Tea Party candidates did when they got elected?

  153. Now you are just being ridiculous, turndown. NO ONE who knows anything about polling, on any side, of any ideology, questions the fact that likely voter polls are more accurate and predictive than registered voter polls.

It’s not even a bone of contention. At all. Likely voter polls are more accurate.

  154. LOL! Another poll out from Survey USA shows Obama up by 5 in…. Oregon. That he won by 16% in 2008.

  155. if you think they did’nt get to where they have by not having to be ruthless at some point in political life then here is an igloo i want to sell you in Florida.

    =====================

I suggest you count the negatives in that sentence and see what their sum adds up to.

  156. Bill and Chelsea might have said what we’re all thinking about Obama and 2012 (though probably not so openly). But Hillary would not have focused on her ‘legacy’ as Klein claims.

    From Klein’s book:
“I want my term [at the State Department] to be an important one, and running away from it now would leave it as a footnote,” Hillary argued.

  157. Likely voter polls are more accurate.

    ==================

Can you site a study that compared the results of many ‘likely voter’ polls with the actual result of the election (and preferably with some ‘likelihood’ questions at the exit polls)?

Different ‘likely voter’ polls use different ‘algorithms’ to sort their respondents into ‘likely’ and ‘unlikely’. These different polls can’t all be equally accurate.

  158. It would have taken enormous courage and conviction in your own strength and yes, confidence that you will able to turn around the people and the establishment to challenge Obama for the good of the country in 2012 (so she is going for the low hanging fruit of a good SoS). I don’t fault Hillary for not taking up that challenge, especially since there are no cracks in the establishment that would have backed her up. It would have taken a people’s revolution to follow her and oust Obama. American populace in that sense is docile and less impulsive. They like the problems to fester to make sure there is a problem and then bring back balance. They may think it is sophisticated to be that way. So be it. It is also the nature of the beast in non-parliamentary systems — difficult to herd the cattle because there will always be some gullible ones who will go in the wrong direction.

  159. pm, thanks for a very sensible post.

“They like the problems to fester to make sure there is a problem and then bring back balance.”

The only point you left out is, that by the time the US voters get their revolutionary army together, the Establishment has already put their fake leader in front of it — eg Obama.

  164. Is there no end to their stupidity??????????????????

House Democrats received training this week on how to raise the issue of race to defend government programs, according to training materials obtained by The Washington Examiner.

The prepared content of a Tuesday presentation to the House Democratic Caucus and staff indicates that Democrats will seek to portray apparently neutral free-market rhetoric as being charged with racial bias, conscious or unconscious.

In her distributed remarks, Maya Wiley of the Center for Social Inclusion criticized “conservative messages [that are] racially ‘coded’ and had images of people of color that we commonly see used” and proposed tactics for countering the Republicans’ (presumably) racially-coded rhetoric.

According to Wiley’s group’s website, “right-wing rhetoric has dominated debates of racial justice – undermining efforts to create a more equal society, and tearing apart the social safety net in the process” for over 25 years. Wiley had been invited to run the Democrats “through their strategy and how they message and talk about stuff” pertaining to race and fiscal policy, a staffer for Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., explained.

As samples of race-coded rhetoric, Wiley reminded the Democrats of statements by Republican presidential candidates Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich. Of Gingrich’s famous comment about President Obama, her distributed remarks note, “Calling a Black man ‘the food stamp president’ is not a race-neutral statement, even if Newt Gingrich did not intend racism.”

  166. some more from the amateur…….

    http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=51433

President Obama’s former doctor claims that the president lacks passion, feeling and humanity ( tell us something we did’nt know)

In a revealing new book, The Amateur, author Edward Klein interviews President Barack Obama’s physician, Dr. David Scheiner, MD, who blasts the president’s health care plan and says that President Obama has an “academic detachment” that he could never break through.

The doctor fears that if the health care plan is “the failure” he believes it will be, because of runaway costs and other problems, then any health reform will be set back for years to come.

These are only a few of many reveals in Klein’s book, which makes the case that President Obama is not the political machine that people fear, but an amateur with a messianic complex who is completely out of his depth.

In an exclusive preview of The Amateur by Human Events, Obama’s longtime physician reveals the lack of humanity in Obama’s character and carelessness with which he enacted the entirely politicized health insurance reform, The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, often called ObamaCare.

Scheiner said that he believes the president miscalculated politically and that the health reform is ultimately doomed to fail. Worse, Scheiner doubts the character of a man who holds the highest and most influential office in America: “I think there is too much of the University of Chicago in him. By which I mean he’s academic, lacks passion and feeling, and doesn’t have the sense of humanity that I expected.”

The author, Klein, later in the book, compares Obama’s personality to early the 20th Century progressive president, Woodrow Wilson. By quoting the historian Forrest McDonald, who called Wilson’s perception of himself, “little short of Messianic,” Klein says that McDonald’s description of Wilson “fits Obama to a T.”

The Amateur is set to be released Tuesday, May 15. It is published by Regnery Publishing, owned by Eagle Publishing, which also owns Human Events.

In the chapter titled, “Hollow at the Core,” Obama’s former physician, who is a liberal, blasts the president for being uncaring, and perhaps worse, incompetent.

“He has no cost control. There would be no effective cost control,” said Scheiner. “The [Congressional Budget Office] said it’s going to be incredibly expensive… and the thing that I’m incredibly worried about is, if it is a failure that I think it will be, then health reform will be set back a long, long time.”

Scheiner said that the Obama administration neglected the advice of real physicians and instead decided to let political operatives craft Obama’s signature health care law. People like Obama’s former chief of staff Rahm Emanuel’s brother, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, were the kinds of medical people that the White House consulted.

“Ezekiel is a medical oncologist, not a general physician,” said Scheiner.

The point that Scheiner was trying to make is that President Obama lacks the ability to understand the critical role of the doctor to patient interaction just as he fails to connect to people personally.

“My main objection to Barack Obama is that he is a great speaker and a lousy communicator. He isn’t getting his message across to people. He isn’t showing that he really cares. To this day he hasn’t communicated with members of Congress.”

Scheiner and other interviewees in The Amateur believe that President Obama has been a failure as a president, that he has failed to live up to the hype and has left a trail of betrayals in his wake.

Although Obama and Scheiner did not have a close relationship, Scheiner was clearly upset by how he was cut off when Obama became president.

“Obama invited his barber to his inauguration—his barber! But I wasn’t invited. Believe me, that hurt.”

But Johnston was an equal opportunity disser — saying, “And who’s the Republican a**hole?”

    “Our guy isn’t any good.”

He continued, “You got Reagan and Tip O’Neill … those are the last two good guys.”

“Wait ’til Obama doesnt have to try anymore,” Bruce added .. “you’re f**ked.”

    …………………………

    Hillary now, folks.

  168. Lol, Obama now “evolving” on clean coal……

    http://thehill.com/blogs/e2-wire/e2-wire/226867-obama-campaign-adds-clean-coal-to-its-website-amid-gop-complaints

The Obama campaign added a section on “clean coal” to its website this week after House Republicans alleged that the president’s “all-of-the-above” energy plan neglected the fossil fuel.

“President Obama has set a 10-year goal to develop and deploy cost-effective clean coal technology,” the website now says.

“The Recovery Act invested substantially in carbon capture and sequestration research, including 22 projects across four different areas of carbon capture-and-storage research and development.”

As of Wednesday, the website did not include “clean coal” in a graphic outlining the president’s much-touted “all-of-the-above” energy plan. The graphic mentions oil, natural gas, biofuels, wind, solar and nuclear.

Asked about the change, Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said “clean coal” has “been an essential part of the president’s all-of-the-above energy strategy.”

Republicans, earlier this week, highlighted the website to bolster their longstanding allegations that Obama has “declared war on coal.”

“Coal is still a valuable resource … and yet this administration has been open in the business of putting coal out of business,” Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-Ky.), a vocal proponent of the coal industry, said during a House hearing.

“To not even mention coal as an important energy sector is unbelievable to me,” he added.

Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.), another advocate of coal-fired power, piled on, claiming that the administration has a “deep-seated hatred for coal and the electricity generated by coal.”

Coal-fired power releases into the atmosphere high levels of greenhouse gas emissions and other pollution, which scientists say contributes to climate change and has been shown to harm public health.

The administration has said it supports the expansion of coal for electricity generation if companies install technology to reduce emissions.

The Environmental Protection Agency has imposed a number of new regulations aimed at reducing pollution from coal plants, and proposed first-ever national standards to limit greenhouse gas emissions from new power plants in March.

The regulations deal a blow to foundering efforts to build more coal-fired power plants in the United States. Many plans to build new coal plants have been shelved as a result of competition from inexpensive natural gas — which is undergoing a production boom — and other factors.

The regulations would require new power plants that burn fossil fuels to release no more than 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide per megawatt‐hour.

The agency said new natural-gas plants will be able to meet the standard without adding any additional technology. But new coal plants would need to add new technology like carbon capture and storage (CCS), in which carbon dioxide emissions are collected and sequestered in the ground rather than released into the atmosphere.

But EPA has worked to ensure the rules aren’t overly burdensome to the coal industry. Instead of meeting the standard on an annual basis, new coal plants that install CCS technology can use a 30-year average of their carbon dioxide emissions.

    …………………………………………

He was for bankrupting the coal industry before he was for it. I sense a pattern here.

  169. moon: Calling me naive is a personal attack. It doesn’t faze me, but we agreed not to indulge in this kind of stuff here.

You seem to have a theory that loyalty does not exist in politics and that ruthlessness is the way to go.

I asked for examples of ruthlessness as concerns the Clintons and you can’t come up with any, so you call me naive instead.

No examples? Then I rest my case.

  170. Saying, i think you are naive is not a personal attack, its an observation of a character trait. Now if I had told you to F off then by all means then call it a definitive personal attack by all means. So lets call it quits and scroll on past my posts because you seem to have a beef with most of them.

  171. ACE.. Gallup has Romney losing a point and Obama gaining a point, so that Romney’s lead (with registered voters) is down to 46-45.

    – Romney leads Obama by 9 points on economic leadership.

Gallup calls this a “slight” lead.
    ***********

We all know who “feeds” Gallup

  172. First catch your likely voters.

    —————–

Likely voter polls are more accurate.

    =====================

Ideally they should be, but in practice some are more accurate, some less accurate than ‘registered voter’ polls. In all ‘likely voter’ polls, there’s wiggle room for the pollsters to get the result they want — by tweaking the markers they use to assign each respondent to the ‘likely’ category or to reject him. This can be tweaked just as the ‘unemployment figures’ can.

Ideally, for ‘likely voters’ you’d start with an official, up to date list of people who are registered. Then when calling them, you’d ask each when he last voted, how many recent elections he’s voted in, etc (and hope he tells the truth). And/or you may also stick in your own opinion as to what groups may skip voting: by education, age, race, etc. Eliminate too many this way, and you may come out basing your prediction on an unrealistic group of ‘likely voters’.

    This was discussed in 2008.

pm, in debate/discussion customs here, it’s the person who makes a very strong, no exceptions kind of claim who should produce supporting evidence: not the person who mildly says that the result is sometimes doubtful.

  173. Klein’s book said Obama’s former doctor said:
“Obama invited his barber to his inauguration—his barber! But I wasn’t invited. Believe me, that hurt.”

    =======================

Another point against Klein’s credibility. Would the doctor really admit such a feeling?

  174. Of Gingrich’s famous comment about President Obama, her distributed remarks note, “Calling a Black man ‘the food stamp president’ is not a race-neutral statement, even if Newt Gingrich did not intend racism.”

    ======================

So a criticism you could make of a white president, becomes ‘racist’ when the president happens to be black?

  175. Latest MR ad – Forgetting the Recession -how can a sitting American President forget about the recession?

Good ad but I think the text over pix is not so effective – would rather HEAR as well as SEE the message. The ad features BO’s voice and pic only.

Still – at least it shows someone’s on the ball. BO made those comments just the other day.

  176. WOW. Just WOW. OK, it’s a somewhat extreme blog but this account contains most of the issues many of us have pondered over the past few months and lines up with WHI reports.
    Excerpts:

    Did Obama Assassinate Clinton Delegates?

    http://gulagbound.com/27615/did-obama-assassinate-clinton-delegates/

“George Soros met with Hillary and Obama.

Soros said his agenda was to tear this economy down to the ground.

Obama said, ‘no problem.’ Hillary said, ‘no way.’”

I’m going to take you on a little journey that – even I’m not sure I believe. But it is newsworthy, in my opinion. One of my key True The Vote heroes was asked to be on the blogtalkradio station Red Right & Blue this past Saturday. And a Hollywood Producer was also on who claimed:

    • She heard out of Bill Clinton’s own mouth that they knew Obama was not eligible, and,
    • Bill Clinton shut up after his long time friend was murdered as he was about to go public.
    • She was told by Democrat operatives that George Soros met with both Obama and Hillary to see if either they would be willing to destroy the US economy.
This whole scenario is weird to me. If you are still so clueless that you think Sheriff Joe Arapio’s findings from his 6 month investigation aren’t important (or worse, wrong), then you are part of the problem. (And that includes Limbaugh, Levin, Malkin, Hannity and Erick Erickson at RedState who took an oath to uphold the Constitution). I’ll be honest. If I hadn’t downloaded the long form birth certificate myself into Photoshop the day it was released to see it for myself, I would still just be trying to grasp this. But I did and interviewed Bob Cooley who witnessed Obama’s Chicago machine’s corruption (stealing votes, fixing cases and getting payoff’s) – I wouldn’t be open this open to these new allegations.

What is shocking to me is that I had never heard of this grassroots media source on blogtalkradio.com until last week when it was referenced by The Ulsterman Report (UR) and the “Washington and Wall Street Insider” conspiracies it has been covering for some time.
    Background on First Political ‘Assassination’

For those who have not been following this, UR’s Washington Insider described how long time Democratic Operative Kam Kuwata (who set up the 2008 Denver Democratic convention and ran Hillary’s West Coast campaign) was found inexplicably murdered after he informed some other Democrats of Obama being carried into a room, weird chanting and suddenly emerging as if he was a new man only moments later. (I know – it sounds preposterous but read the comments in the above linked article and trace the evidence yourself.) Kuwata was Diane Feinstein’s aide and longtime friend.

The actual timeline is much stranger and happens this way:
(This does NOT include the recent disclosure that Harris is [ossibly next for an SC appointment and West is up for AG once Holder is fired).
    • Tony West – an attorney at the law firm defending Barack Obama’s birth certificate matters raises $65 Million for Barack Obama’s election. His sister-in-law Kamala Harris is the District Attorney for San Francisco.
    • Kam Kuwata tells others (likely Sen. Feinstein) of weird Obama stuff he saw at the convention.
    • Obama elected with huge illegal campaign (25% of what he raises) coming through a SINGLE California bank) much from Tony West. Rumors swirl of up to $300 Million in undeclared campaign contributions are not reported or those donors.
    • Feinstein’s aide and Kuwata’s business partner BOTH indicted and sent to prison by soon to be Dem Governor Cuomo of NY.
    • Kuwata works against CA Attorney General Kamala Harris to put in a CA AG who can investigate Obama campaign donations.
    • A few months later highly active Kuwata found 2 weeks dead in his apartment.
    • The same month Tony West is appointed as Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Division reporting to Eric Holder at the Department of (so called) Justice.
    • At Kuwata’s memorial, Feinstein very strangely “scooped” the President with the news of Osama Bin Laden death by 1 hour. Feinstein and intelligence knew of OBL location since January. Some wonder if this was a warning to Obama.
    • DOJ does not investigate Kuwata’s death.
    • A month later, former CA Obama Committee chairwoman embezzles millions in funds from Feinstein’s campaign and others including Obama’s CA funds. This critically impairs Feinstein’s reelection hopes.
    • Feinstein charged with ethics violations.
    • Kamala Harris found to be in pocket of public sector unions scuttling initiative on their behalf.
    • Kamala Harris named Co-Chairwoman of the Obama Campaign.
    • CA AG Kamala Harris and the NY AG replacing Gov Cuomo refuse to follow the law on failed mortgages, threatening the FDIC and creating a $25 Billion Mortgage settlement that:
o Gives 70% of the money to government programs
o Penalizes stockholders, brokers who never admitted guilt in due process
o Allows the REAL perpetrators of the mortgage crisis (both public and private) to skate without ANY prosecution. (Very good explanation here.)
o It also gives her a slush fund of over $1 Billion to preside over.
    • Tony West is appointed Assistant Attorney General of the United States under Eric Holder.
    • American Bar Association Journal reports Kamala Harris be considered as next Supreme Court Justice replacing Ruth Bader Ginsberg.

Crazy stuff, huh? You have no idea.

    Hillary Clinton Superdelegate Murdered

I don’t have much patience for non-professional, well sourced media whether it be ABC, Allahpundit or a All My Chitlin. (All of which have been sorely lacking in getting stories correct I might add.) Red, Right & Blue (RRB) blogtalkradio show seems to be made of completely non-professionals. I heard claims made by different parties on the show that I know to be factually untrue, so this all has to be taken with caution. (For instance, Bettina claims the only Legislation which Obama sponsored in Illinois was a “National Islam Day.” Obama sponsored 35 bills including a recognition of South Side Islamic center that seems to have died in committee. She is also wildly misinformed on Newt Gingrich’s positions including having been a major player in fighting HillaryCare, ObamaCare, TARP and Cap & Trade. She also claims Santorum voted “almost exclusively” with Pelosi and Reed which is ridiculous even with Santorum’s big government votes.)

The only reason PolitiJim is proceeding with this story is because it is first hand testimony by Hollywood Agent/Producer Bettina Sofia Viviano on matters she would likely have direct knowledge of, or association with Democratic officials who would. Ms. Viviano was a non-political [person] who was approached to make the documentary about the irregularities of voter fraud by Barack Obama against Hillary Clinton in the 2008 Democratic Presidential Nominating race. (Forty minutes of We Will Not be Silenced can be viewed here. The entire Red, Right & Blue interview at bottom of post with time codes referencing her quotes.)

In the RRB interview, Viviano said her film documented massive systemic corruption by the Obama campaign via:
    • Precinct chairpersons and workers misreporting (or holding) results
    • Voter intimidation and violence
    • Vote destruction and fabrication

Some may remember a Hillary campaign memo complaining of voting irregularities that was not even acknowledged by the mainstream press. From the media you would have thought Obama won in a landslide. But gong into the convention, Obama led Hillary by only 165 delegates out of 4418 (3.7%). Texas has a primary, followed by a caucus the same day where delegates are bound by their earlier voting. Although Hillary actually won the popular vote in Texas by 52% to 48%, for the first time in state history, the caucus results did not match the primary and were wildly skewed toward Obama 56% to 44%. Many precincts never turned in votes. And this happened nationwide. In primary states (more difficult to initiate voter fraud), Clinton consistently won by 2% to 4%. In caucus states where Obama controlled the mechanisms, he won almost 2 to 1, a statistical impossibility.

In her documentary We Will Not be Silenced, there are first hand accounts of voter intimidation, vote manipulation, vandalism and violence not just on behalf of Obama, but against even elderly Clinton voters. The film has direct testimony of a lady who witnessed two young thugs threatening older people coming to a community center if they voted for Hillary. This sounds oddly familiar of the New Black Panther intimidation case which we now konw was not an isolated event.

In the documentary, another Hillary supporter who was a super-delegate describes a call from a Senator who told her since she voted for Hillary if she ran for political office they would strip all of her position with the Democrat party.

There were over 2,000 complaints (including criminal) in Texas alone. In her RRB interview, Viviano describes footage of a young African American delegate who was threatened with murder if he did not change his allegiance to Obama from Hillary. (As far as we know, Rick Santorum’s similar antics against Newt Gingrich did not involve criminal violence, although we were told he did a similar thing in Pennsylvania in 2006.)
Pelosi bribed 28 multiple super delegates to support Barack Obama with cash gifts up to $250,000. Sixteen (16) of 28 endorsed Obama although their state and district selected Hillary Clinton. Other Obama supporters like James Clyburn followed suit giving money to all but 2 of these 28.

There is MUCH more. Check it out.

  177. I’d guessed it was probably something about health hazards, but apparently it’s just a bureaucratic thing. Anyway here’s a good disentangling from HuffPo.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/08/secret-service-fetuses-white-house-tours_n_1501235.html
This notation device “simply serves as a placeholder for the baby once it’s born,” Milien said. “All White House guests are required to provide information at the time of their request for the tour, including for children and infants, and those expected to be on the tour once born.”
Milien said the White House has thousands of visitors every day and that people sign up for tours months in advance, often canceling and rescheduling. By having a placeholder ready for a baby-to-be, it prevents delays when people might otherwise show up for the tour with a child not previously listed, he said.

    What a Bi*ch…typical obot media

    Yup. Just like Robin Roberts.

Disgraceful. I can’t watch ANY black commentators or anchors anymore except Faulkner and sometimes Williams. Same goes for all white MSNBC anchors. All FOS.

Glad we are all useful for something, Drudge must be watching this place, everytime, we blow the lid of something, it ends up in Drudge, 10 mins later.

    smart people. 😆

  180. Good find JTJames. I had no idea. Not that I give a d@mn. This whole gay thing is just like the war on women thing to me. A lot of todo about a hairdo as our old friend wildwoman Cynthia McKinney would say.

On that count and that count only she was right.

Let’s get on to the economy instead of distract distract distract.

Of course that’s the WH strategy to keep the 43% glued to BO and hopefully, through that, the Spain voting company which is counting the votes, NBPP intimidation and blackbox vote tampering BO gets his 2nd term.

    From Gawker:

“The only part the report omitted was the near-open secret that Roberts is a lesbian. A source close to ABC executives told us that although the interview is, at this point, the biggest of her professional career, Roberts wasn’t overly enthusiastic about the scoop because she thought it would bring her own sexuality to the forefront.

“Most of the discussions [among TV people] today about why Robin got the interview have to do with her being gay,” a source told Gawker. “Not that she’s black, or friends of the Obamas.”

“Obviously they picked her because she’s black and gay,” said another industry insider familiar with the selection.”

  181. Gingrich heaps praise on MR.

Now that the race for the Republican presidential nomination looks to be wrapped up in former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s favor, the suggestion throughout that race that there would be bad blood between the participants doesn’t seem to be the case.

On Friday’s “The Laura Ingraham Show,” former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, one of Romney’s most vociferous opponents during the nominating process, said he will be helping Romney out on the campaign trail.

“Look, I talk regularly with the Romney folks,” he said. “I’m helping him in a number of places. I’m doing an event next week in Georgia for him and I’m going to speak for him at the Georgia convention next weekend. I’m going to be with him at the end of the month in Las Vegas at a big event, and I’m going to do all I can to help Mitt.”

And although there had been some questions as to whether or not Gingrich was just going through the motions with his endorsement of Romney, the former Speaker of the House said that wasn’t the case.

“But I just want to be clear — my endorsement for Romney is very positive and very aggressive,” he said. “And both Callista and I will campaign for him. And this idea that it is a tepid endorsement is just media nonsense. But, I told them if I’m useful, I’ll be glad to speak at the convention. If they don’t think it’s useful, I won’t speak there. That’s their call. They got to run the convention to fit their campaign.”

  182. Now THIS is what we should be talking about. BOL, Israel.

Israel vs. Iran: ‘Any Given Moment’

    ________________________________________
    by Breitbart News

Israel’s channel 10 is reporting that U.S. officials are working frantically to prevent a pre-emptive Israeli attack on Iran, which the new unity government could carry out at “any given moment,” according to Israel National News:

U.S. government officials told Channel 10 News that they believe a Likud-Kadima joining government could make a decision about an Israeli attack on Iran at any moment and perhaps even before the U.S. presidential elections in November.

The report said that when the Americans believed early elections would be held in Israel on September, they thought it meant the attack in Iran would be postponed at least until after the election. Now, with the stabilization of Israeli politics and the current government likely to end its term on schedule, the situation has changed and the Americans are concerned.

According to the Channel 10 report, in order to try and prevent or at least postpone the Israeli decision on the issue, the Americans recently held marathon talks with Israeli officials at all levels.

As reported earlier this week on Breitbart.com, Israel’s main two political parties, the governing Likud and the opposition Kadima, agreed to form a unity government rather than face early elections that were to be called by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
One of the reasons for the agreement was to create greater political stability, possibly in advance of a possible military conflict with Iran–and in the face of opposition from the Obama administration.

Turndown–you are beginning to sound like an Obama supporter. If Klein is attacking Obama why would you want to attack Klein and say he is not credible?

  184. Oh for the love of God will he stop………sick to the back teeth of his celeb interviews and this bloody show.

Barack Obama to appear on ‘The View’

is to be interviewed on The View next week, it has been announced.

The US president will tape an interview with Barbara Walters and her co-hosts on Monday (May 14), which will then air Tuesday (May 15) on The View.

Obama’s chat with the female panel will mark his first appearance on the daytime series since 2010.

He is expected to discuss his recent announcement that he has changed his stance on gay marriage and now personally supports the LGBT community’s right to wed.

Lady GaGa, Jane Lynch and Neil Patrick Harris are among the stars to have praised Obama’s support for gay marriage, while Bristol Palin accused the leader of being naïve.

  185. If Klein is attacking Obama why would you want to attack Klein and say he is not credible?

    =========================

    1. Klein is also saying trashy things about the Clintons.
    2. Truth is worth defending in any case.
    3. If this book does well, Klein may go after the Clintons more strongly, or the Palins.
