Stay Focused Mittens!

The good news? The economy is so bad even the “con artists are giving up” on their various scams. All except the top flim-flam con man that is. He’s moving FORWARD with his scams.

Yup, things are bad all around. It’s hard out here, even for pimps.

Wanna know what else is difficult? Keeping track of Obama scams, flim-flams, lies, distractions, stunts, bamboozlements, race-baitings, fake wars, real wars, past broken promises, present broken promises, future broken promises, panders, evasions, tricks, trades, calculated tantrums, calculated sneers, calculated snubs, manipulations, gimmicks, not to mention the golfing, vacations, policy fiascoes, personal obnoxiousness, and the sleeveless partner, is really really difficult. But you have got to keep focused. You can’t cover all the above. You can only prioritize and try to track the trends and overviews of all the above. It’s what we try to do. It’s what we advise Mitt Romney to do.

It’s easier said than done. But as he has thus far mostly done, it is what Mittens Willard Romney should continue to do. Avoid distractions Mitt!

The way this election cycle is going to proceed is that groups outside the campaign have promised to tackle a lot of the issues Obama wants to distract with as well as the advertising which directly attacks Barack Obama in a most negative way. The Romney campaign proper will be able to stay positive and stay focused on the most important issues. By that we mean the economy.

Now we can hear the howls from the phony Obama campaign and well meaning deluded people who are properly concerned with the state of campaign financing. But really, it is time to grow up on campaign financing. Does anyone in the Democratic Left really think that either party is not beholden to the wealthy (“stinkin’ rich” to the Occupy Wall Street dupes)?

Remember when John Edwards ran his popular-in-the-Democratic-Left “Two Americas” campaign? “Oh the evil rich” moaned pretty Johnny as he built his huge house. Meanwhile handsome Johnny was busy rubbing the bunny for the honey:

“Interior designer Bryan Huffman told the courtroom that Rachel “Bunny” Mellon was unhappy that Edwards tried hiding his relationship with Rielle Hunter using some of the $725,000 that Mellon had funneled to him during the 2008 presidential campaign, The Associated Press reported.

“She thought maybe you should probably pay for your girlfriend yourself,” Huffman testified.

Many in the courtroom laughed — and Edwards even smiled, according to the AP.

Mellon also gave $6.4 million to organizations tied to Edwards’ presidential run, and after he dropped out of the race in January 2008, aide Andrew Young requested an additional $40 to $50 million for Edwards’ poverty foundation, Huffman testified.

“[Mellon] was rather apoplectic at the size of the figure they requested. She was really upset,” Huffman said. “She said, ‘I cannot believe that the senator really wanted me for my money all along.’”

Did you notice? That was all before Citizens United. Millions upon millions for handsome Johnny as he roared about helping the poor – while Flukeing Reille whom we assume could not afford the contraception. It’s a War On Women!

Or maybe it’s not a War on Women by Republicans but a War On Women by Obama Dimocrats – says Anderson Cooper. Cooper? Cooper? If you’ve lost the silver fox, you’ve lost the war.

Hey, did you notice? We just got distracted. We were talking about Romney not getting distracted and then we darn well got distracted talking about pretty boy Edwards. He sure is pretty isn’t he? Darn, we almost got distracted again talking about his flaxen waxen hair. Then we got distracted by the War on Women and the silver fox.

It’s easy to get distracted. Mitt Romney is going to have to stay focused and let others tackle issues other than the big issues, such as the economy. Occupy Wall Street? Steer clear Mitt. Let others lead the charge (Video: Hannity battles with Occupy Wall Street organizer for 10 minutes) against distractions.

On issue after issue, Mitt Romney should steer clear and stay focused on the economy (as he has mostly been doing). That Bin Laden Mission Accomplished Taxpayer Funded Publicity Stunt Election Tour? Navy Seals will tackle that one (and More Navy SEALs coming forward to criticize Obama for aftermath of Bin Laden raid?)

Romney knows these outside the campaign groups are going to mostly stick to the issues Obama wants to distract with while he himself sticks to the economy. That’s not to say that Romney might occasionally take some pokes at some of Obama’s most obvious distractions and gimmicks. That’s not to say that the outside groups might not tackle some of the more awkward Obama economic claims and ridiculous slogans such as Forward – for Obama “Forward” means continually going backward:

“Looks like Barack Obama’s new campaign slogan will be incredibly popular … with his opponents.  American Crossroads launched a new ad yesterday titled “Backward,”explaining that economic progress has moved in that direction rather than forward for the last three years.  More people end up on food stamps, more people drop out of the work force, and the only thing moving forward is … well, watch the clip:”

Romney is going to have to restrict himself to the economy while other Obama schemes are addressed by Romney ally organizations.

Distractions are many. But keep focused. Today April unemployment numbers were published and the big news is that more than half a million Americans gave up looking for jobs. Of course this disaster meant the unemployment rate went down. Huh? We explained this in early February – Obama’s Government By Purposeful Disaster:

“It becomes increasingly impossible to question the notion that Barack Obama is purposefully destructive. [snip]

Consider: The more the economy deteriorates the more Barack Obama profits politically. Americans forced in desperation from even bothering to look for jobs leads to a drop in the unemployment rate and Barack Obama smirks a clown smile and goes on yet another vacation. [snip]

It’s government by willful, purposeful, destruction of America for personal political profit – but it won’t work to save this corrupt clown from Chicago.

On each of these issues Barack Obama pretends to vote “present” or both “yes” and “no” in the HOPE that Americans are as stupid as he thinks they are. After all, Barack reasons, they did elect him so they really are stupid.

But reality, like justice, has its own wheel which grinds slowly but inexorably. On each issue Obama’s chickens are coming home – ready to poop.”

The chickens won’t poop directly on Obama’s grey head though unless Romney ties them up to the roof of his car and tours America showing Americans what is really happening. What is happening? “Unemployment rate at 8.1%, only 115K jobs added, participation rate shrinks again to new low“.

Romney has to tie up some other chickens to the roof of his car and have them poop directly on Obama’s head. One of those chickens has to be Ted Turner. Mr. CNN has now joined George Soros and Jimmy Carter in stating that Romney won’t be such a frightening president. Turner thinks Romney “would probably make a good president.”

We’re much more doubtful about Mittens than Ted, George and Jimmy. We do know that Barack Obama has got to go. From that basic fact, we won’t get distracted.

Right. First things first. Tank Obama. Rebuild the Party. And challenge Romney in 2016. That is the one and only path forward. Right now it is a mistake to focus on Romney’s shortcomings. For sure he has them. But right now any discussion of them is a distraction from the singular objective of ridding the country of the meddlesome deranged messiah who has the nautical skill of the captain of the Titanic and the malice aforethought of a U-boat captain/

  3. From personal knowledge – Sherrod Brown, one of the biggest hypocrites, liars, and thugs in the U.S. Senate :

    http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/05/03/Sherrod-Brown-Divorce-Obama

One of the chief points of Brown’s political agenda has been the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act.

And tomorrow, President Obama is slated to use Brown to launch his formal re-election campaign in Columbus, Ohio.

But perhaps Brown isn’t the best person to lead off the Obama campaign – particularly not if the “war on women” is to remain one of Obama’s key campaign themes. Divorce records from Brown’s first marriage, obtained by Breitbart News, show that during the contentious proceedings, his wife accused him of “extreme cruelty” and “harassment”; she said she was “in fear for the safety … of myself and our children,” and accused Sherrod of “physical violence.” In fact, she said, Brown had “struck and bullied me on several different occasions.” The allegations apparently first became fodder for campaigning during Brown’s race for Congress in 1992.

In May 1986, Larke Brown filed for divorce from her husband, then Ohio Secretary of State Sherrod Brown (who, in court filings, called himself S. Campbell Brown). In her divorce complaint, she alleged that Sherrod had been guilty of “extreme cruelty toward her.

Larke filed for a motion for a restraining order against Sherrod Brown (below). The motion asked the court to stop Sherrod from “harassing, including telephone harassment, annoying, interfering with or doing bodily harm to this Plaintiff at her residence or elsewhere.” The affidavit to the motion alleged that Larke believed that unless restrained, Sherrod would “harass” or “do bodily harm” to her; she further stated, “I am also intimidated by the Defendant and am in fear for the safety and well-being of myself and our children due to the Defendant’s physical violence and abusive nature.”

The restraining order was granted by the court, and prevented Brown from “harassing, including telephone harassment, annoying, interfering with or doing bodily harm to this Plaintiff at her residence or elsewhere.” In fact, the restraining order enjoined Brown from “coming in or around the Plaintiff’s residence … except for purposes of visitation with the parties’ minor children.”

In October 1986, Larke filed a multi-pronged motion asking for limitation of visitation rights of Sherrod due to “physical and emotional harassment of the Plaintiff” and an order preventing him from coming no closer than the curb of their home during the times he exercises his visitation privileges.

Her affidavit in support of this motion alleged that Sherrod had “embarked on a consistent course of conduct designed to destroy the Plaintiff’s peace of mind as well as to physically and mentally intimidate her.” On several occasions, Larke alleged, her husband had “intimidated, pushed, shoved, and bullied her.”

People say things in divorce proceedings that sometimes are a bit exaggerated. We understand that. But Sherrod Brown is a disgusting thug.

What!? Did he try to screw her too? I won’t be surprised if he did.

N.B. The above video makes two points relative to the Seal video–which Krauthammer calls devastating to Obama.

    1. First, it proves that Obama is a narcissist. Krauthammer makes that point at the 2 minute mark. And what the video shows is the very tell which the Sam Varnin, the world’s leading expert on the disease of narcissism discussed–pronoun density, me me me I I I. It also shows he is all about theater as opposed to results.

    2. Second, it proves that Obama cares not about the fate of the Seals but only his own political fortunes. This was evident in Bill’s script that if the Seals had been killed or captured it would have been bad for Obama politically, but makes no mention of how that would have affected the Seals who, lets face it, were the gutsy ones in this episode.

This raises an interesting question which was at the heart of the prosecution in the Cain Mutiny. The charge was mutiny and the defense was Lieutenant Commander Queeg was mentally incompetent therefore the executive officer was within his rights to relieve him of command. The prosecution conceded that Queeg was a paranoid, but contended that was not a disabling condition. However, on cross examination it became obvious that it was. By the same token there can be no doubt whatsoever that Obama is a pathological narcissist. The question is does that render him unable to perform his duties as President. That question will be answered in the next six months, as this thing starts to slip away from him.

  9. That Bill Crystal is irritating. It is not clear in the ad that if Bill Clinton was saying what Obama thought if the mission had gone array or his own opinion. We know Obama had to be dragged into this plan and he was too worried about the political ramifications if it went badly. This Crystal like people are leaving Obama off the hook by making it sound like it was Bill Clinton thinking about such political impact. I wish Clinton had made it clear it was Obama.

  10. Also, I don’t think Bill Clinton cut those words specifically for that ad. If I remember he said it in an interview at that time, no?

  11. wbboei: “Tank Obama. Rebuild the Party. And challenge Romney in 2016.”

Spoken like a true Democrat, which I don’t think you are but little does that matter.

I think that, assuming Obama is tanked and Romney is POTUS, it’s going to take more than four years for the Ds to recover to the point where they can successfully challenge an incumbent. This added to the fact that I have a different take on Romney than you and admin: I think Romney may very well be as popular as Reagan in 1984. And if that is so, and Romney’s second term is goes well too, then even 2020 is going to be hard for Dems just as 1988 was.

This is why I think it is in the Clintons’ interest to work the sidelines from now on, helping to restore the party of FDR over the coming 8 years, and then put a Clintonista in the running in 2020. That makes more sense to me than wasting HRC’s and WJC’s power in another failed bid in 2016.

  12. Maher deals another racist card. Link includes video with Arsenio Hall.
So, if President Barack Obama isn’t reelected, will the reputation of entire black race suffer from his electoral defeat?
On Friday’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” on HBO, Maher said a Romney win in November would reflect poorly on “black America” and help conservatives undermine America’s faith in black politicians.
“I think the second term for Obama is more important even than the first,” Maher said. “Obviously, it was important to get the first black president elected. But if the first black president only has one term, America reads that as a failure. This is what the right-wing hope and prays for more than anything else — that America looks at this one-term president and goes, ‘Well you know what? We tried a black guy, but it just didn’t work.’ And I think Obama is aware of that. That’s why he’s so conservative in the first term. He knows for the sake of black America, he needs the second term.”

Yesterday it was DeNiro on Obama: He’ll do better in the next four years. That’s in an article at The Hill.

  13. Chris Christie urges politicians to treat Americans ‘like adults’ by telling truth – The Washington Post
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) on Friday implored political leaders in Washington and across the country to tell the American people the truth about the depth of the nation’s fiscal problems and “treat them like adults.” In a speech Friday night at the libertarian Cato Institute’s black-tie gala in Washington, Christie recounted tales of slashing government spending during his first three years in office. In Trenton, he argued, there are lessons for the country.“You’ve got to tell your citizens the truth,” Christie said. “Tell them the truth about the depth of the challenge. Tell them the truth about the difficulty of the solutions. Treat them like adults. In the difficult times America is in now, this is the only way to govern, and when we fail to do this we pay the price as a country many times over.” In his nearly 40-minute speech, Christie did not mention the current presidential campaign or offer any words of support for the presumptive Republican nominee, Mitt Romney, whom he endorsed last fall. Christie also avoided stoking speculation that Romney might consider him as a vice presidential running mate. Instead, Christie spoke about making often unpopular decisions to reign in spending at a time of spiraling deficits in Washington and in state capitals.“Don’t tell me the American people are not ready to hear the truth,” Christie said. “They know our government’s out of control, they know our debt and our deficits are out of control. And don’t confuse them liking the solution with accepting it. They don’t have to like it, but they know in their heart they have to accept it. And the only thing the American people care more about than today is tomorrow….”

You’ve put a fine point on it. Sure. Why not just do for GE 2012 what Dimocrats did for primary 2008?

  16. Had a short discussion with my Hair Dresser, and he thinks that R just might win it. Never can tell if he is a D or R, but R is beginning to build hope in people to come out and start voting for him. That is what he needs.

  17. Chris Christie should go one step ahead and suggest that the Dem politicians (and most of all, Obama) treat women like adults, not like a mindless composite vote bank. How can any self respecting woman take their condescension and patronizing attitude?

  18. So republicans should just withdraw from the race and give the WH to him. No primary, no general, affirmative action at its peak. What kind of an idiot is Maher?
    ————————————–
A guinness book of word records idiot looking for a back alley nose job to rectify an encumbrance that does not match the rest of him, meaning his intellect and his overall stature, which are diminutive.

  19. Spoken like a true Democrat, which I don’t think you are but little does that matter.
    ———————–
You are right on both points. I am not a true democrat any more than I am a true republican. I am an independent and a conservative, and I do not think either party represents the American People. If you had seen me during the Bush era or read my book, you would know that I was a fierce critic of Bush, and left the party after him, just as I recounced the democrat party because of what they did to Hillary and ultimately to us. I still believe in leaders, if they have the right stuff, but do not believe in parties. Therefore, our best hope is to have a democrat party that behaves like democrats and a republican party that behaves like republicans and prevent them from becoming so bi-partisan that they join hands in throwing the American People under the bus. And that is why I hope that the true democratic party rises like a phoenix from the ashes, one does not have to be a true democrat to want that. I guess what I want are leaders who protect the American People from the predations of the elites in Washington and recognize that civil liberties are worth protecting. The reason I reject the left categorically is because they want all power in Washington and to treat the American People as their vassals, and to renounce their values, sub silentio, when a fellow leftist is in the White House. Their vast global view, and professed concern for us shrinks to the infinitesmal when their tyrant is in the white house. I used to think conservatives could find common cause with these people until I realized that for them the critical question is not whether it is wrong but whose side are you on.

  20. That is also why I hope Dick Lugar loses his primary next week. He is a snake of the Republican variety, and as of this week he was on track to lose. As a last gap effort, he enlisted the endorsement of a high school president to extol his experience and virtues, which proves to me that bots and rinos are birds of a feather. He was down 10 points in the poll I saw which is well beyond the margin of error. But it is important to remember that in Indiana, the polls can be very deceiving because everybody cheats. I know this because I was there in 2008, and seeing is believing.

  21. So republicans should just withdraw from the race and give the WH to him. No primary, no general, affirmative action at its peak. What kind of an idiot is Maher?
    ————————————–
Don’t you know it would be RACIST to not give him a second term. That was really what he was inferring don’t you think.

  22. I think Romney may very well be as popular as Reagan in 1984.
    —————————
Highly unlikely in my view. I was a Reagan supporter, but I think what made him popular was fairly good economic times. When he took office things were bad, but over the course of his tenure they improved. I doubt Romney will have that same luck because I think the problems we have now, and our diminished power in the world, will make the economic prosperity Reagan was credited with highly elusive. Also, big media will be nipping at his heels. Thus, the real question is whether the other party has any true leaders left–their bench is very thin. Other than Hillary they have no one else. That said, I do not think she will run, and if she did, I think the Obama foreign policy she is tied to would not be the halcion picture democrats want to think it is. I get so tired of the meme from Obama supporters that Hillary is doing a wonderful job, because I do not see the results, and I think it is just a campaign talking point. If she were running the foreign policy I know things would be entirely different–Egypt would not have happened, we would have a treaty in the Middle East, we would not be at the mercy of China, and we would not be throwing out eastern Europe allies to the Siberian Wolf.

    ——————————
I liked Irving Kristol–his father but not Bill. He is a neocon—Project for the New American Century. But I do not dispute that that is what Bill was saying. My point is that Bill was reading a script prepared by the Obama White House, which I know to be true. Therefore, I impute the negative inference here to Obama not to Bill. Bill needs to be wary of doing these kinds of things, because others–like Crystal will impute those words to him, rather than Obama.

  24. Don’t you know it would be RACIST to not give him a second term. That was really what he was inferring don’t you think.
they are still playing that old tired worn out card

    [[ BRAVO! ]]

[[ Do you reject the right categorically also? ]]

  26. treat women like adults

    =========================

Except when we want control of what happens inside our own bodies. In which case we must be protected from ourselves by laws with names like “Women’s Right to Know.”

    ============================

Well, first, that’s a decision for them to make in 2015, after they see how a POTUS Romney (if any) actually does; not now.

Second, why assume that a run against Romney in 2016 even if failed, would be ‘wasting their power’? Hillary’s bid in 2008 increased her power. After having to run against another Dem, running against a Republican would be a nice change for her. The nation could watch her really play hardball.

Granted the Dems have a tradition of no second chances for someone who lost in November. But by 2020 she might really be too old to want to start an 8-year term.

  28. n Century.

    =========================

I missed the context on this. But why would Bill agree to read a script prepared by the Obama WH?

  29. Chilling. Let’s not go there.
Generalissimo Obama | Washington Free Beacon
…And on Tuesday, in the televised address at the close of his targeted Afghan night raid, Obama challenged his audience to “summon that same sense of common purpose” one finds in “our soldiers, our sailors, our airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and civilians in Afghanistan,” and “redouble our efforts to build a nation worthy of their sacrifice.”Obama’s social militarism inverts civil-military relations in a democratic republic. Traditionally—and one suspects that this is still the case for practically all servicemen—men and women join the Armed Forces because they believe America is worthy of their duty and protection. But Obama seems to suggest that, sorry, we are not quite there yet. The America that actually is “worthy of their sacrifice” has not come into existence. It exists “forward,” somewhere in the future. We must bring it into being by emulating the self-sacrificing troops, by suppressing our ambition and disagreement and differences, by “focusing on the mission” of building our country on a New Foundation. The problems with this mindset are obvious. Obama has it totally backwards. The greatness of our troops derives from the fact that they sacrifice so the American people can enjoy their constitutionally protected liberty to pursue happiness in manifold ways. What the soldiers are protecting—and what the president swears to uphold and defend—does not exist in the future but was ratified more than 200 years in the past: The Constitution of the United States, whose separation of powers, federalism, and checks and balances protect the liberties defined as self-evident in the Declaration of Independence…[Conservatives] are more likely to wish to preserve our differences, in the knowledge that the liberal project of uniformity is undesirable and unfeasible. We are the conscientious objectors to Obama’s forward march. And we are not alone.

“Americans forced in desperation from even bothering to look for jobs leads to a drop in the unemployment rate”

A polite correction: they are dropped from the statistics when their unemployment benefits are exhausted. They are all still looking for work. The unemployment rate only reflects people who have filed a claim for unemployment benefits. If you have no benefits to claim, you are not counted in the “official” unemployment rate.

I get really tired of the media telling us people have “given up looking” – it is a lie, perhaps put out there to make us not care about them. No one feels sympathy for those who “give up.”

The so-called “real unemployment rate” reflects people in this category.

  31. Did anyone else hear that the agreement Obama signed with Karzai precludes the U.S. from launching attacks on Iran from Afghanistan? Whose side is he on?

  32. Reads like what we suggest:

    http://hotair.com/archives/2012/05/05/romney-to-obama-where-are-the-jobs-mr-president/

Romney places the blame squarely on Obama:

I recognize, of course, as do all Americans, that you inherited an economic crisis. But you’ve now had three years to turn things around. The record of those three years is clear. Your policies have failed, not only in Ohio, but across the nation.

The results are a continuing tragedy for millions upon millions of people. Everywhere I go, I meet Americans who are tired of being tired, and many of those who are fortunate enough to have a job are working harder for less. This is not the way it is supposed to be in America. This is not the way it needs to be.

Mr. President, forgive me for being blunt, but when it comes to economic affairs, you’re out of your depth. Unlike you, I am not a career politician. Unlike you, I’ve spent more than two decades working in the private sector, starting new businesses and turning around failing ones. Undoing the damage you’ve done will be a daunting challenge. But I’ve learned a thing or two about how government policies can kill private investment and stifle job creation and I have a plan to get government out of the way.

Blunt is the only thing that the Obama campaign understands … and fears. This is the theme that Romney needs to hammer over the next six months. Don’t get too distracted by War on Wimmenses and dog-crate nonsense. Obama and his team know they can’t compete on jobs and the economy and will do anything to change the subject. This op-ed is a good start in focusing voter attention back on jobs, the economy, and Obama’s disastrous performance on both.

If it doesn’t, then those Americans who do not get it really are stupid.

  40. Admin, you wouldn’t be in Memphis would you for “Memphis in May?” Three 6 MAFIA played and were awful, but not my style anyway, but my daughter stayed to listen and came back to the Blues tent ( much better music by the way), and said that Three 6 Mafia are about 40 now and when the lead tried to remember the “lyrics” to “old” songs, bluntly told the audience “he forgot them”. Reminded me of the fraud and the claim of of Smartest President EVER, of all these 57 United States!

  41. I’m currently trying to see Twitter picture of less-than-capacity Obama crowd. Instead Twitter displays it is over capacity.

    ========================

Maybe it means Twitter’s server is over capacity with too many hits? 😉 Maybe the Bots are doing an attack on Twitter?

  42. I have been, and will be away from much but check in’s, and you all probably covered this, but I have to think the GOP needs to assist a bit more with Romney, IE Arizona’s attack on PPP, it just feeds into the Dems narrative with “War on Women” theme. It hinders his ability to separate himself and stay on message, the economy.

I get it that people don’t want to support abortion financially, just seems poor timing.

I do think PPP needs to completely separate Women’s health services and Abortion services. This is never going to end.

  43. GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney welcomed President Barack Obama to the Buckeye State on Saturday by parking his campaign bus outside of the site where Obama will hold his first campaign rally of the 2012 campaign
    ——————–
Yes, that is sure to send him into a tizzy. Romney people MUST do everything the can to push him over the edge–things that would not bother normal people but will drive Obama to the act out stage. When the German military staff encountered resistance, and when Rommel became the most popular man in Germany Hitler did the only thing a narcissist could do under those circumstances. He took over the army and made himself commander in chief—what did those Prussian Generals know anyway–were they ever in the trenches in World War I? Did they know what it is really like to be a Harvard trained community organizer with his own biographer? Well then they need to just stfu and let the master move the pieces. Aprpos of that, and learning–cynics might say plagiarizing his opponent’s work Obama has taken his que from Herman Caine’s 9-9-9 program and come up with something even better with his own personal stamp on it. Obama’s program is called 8-8-8, i.e. over 8% unemployment (15% if you count the long term unemployment)–8% rise in food prices, and just beigng the 8 ball he is. Woops, he will probably call that racist. So what else is new.

  44. “A polite correction: they are dropped from the statistics when their unemployment benefits are exhausted.”
    **********
My understanding of what it quoted as the “unemployment rate” (U3) is a little different. The Bureau of Labor Statistics surveys 60,000 households each month and asks about employment. If unemployed and has look for a job during the past month, then counted as unemployed. If the unemployed hasn’t sought employment then not counted as part of U3. The phoney “falling” U3 indicating a “healing” economy is now used by the states as justification to reduce long term unemployment benefits.

Participation rate in the labor force by males is lowest since the statistic began being calculated in 1948. The Obama ministry of propaganda says this is due to “voluntary” early retirement by “baby boomers”. If the BLS didn’t “disappear” workers from the labor force, then the “real” rate would be 11-13%.

  45. I get it that people don’t want to support abortion financially, just seems poor timing.

[[ I’ve seen speculation that they are doing these anti-women bills now to please some early donors??? ]]

I do think PPP needs to completely separate Women’s health services and Abortion services.

[[ They’re already separate financially. What more separation do you have in mind? ]]

Thanks for the info on BLS. I had not heard of those surveys, but I did know Gallup conducts similar ones which show an unemployment rate higher than the official one. Perhaps my correction needs to be corrected 🙂

“The phoney “falling” U3 indicating a “healing” economy is now used by the states as justification to reduce long term unemployment benefits.”

Yes, the states with highest unemployment rates, like Michigan and California, extended benefits longer than others. So fudging the numbers will put a stop to that.

“If the BLS didn’t “disappear” workers from the labor force, then the “real” rate would be 11-13%.”

That’s more what I would expect given the low participation rate. The number of actual jobs in the country has declined. Counting the part-time workers who need fulltime jobs, the number is closer to twenty percent.

  47. Somewhere up thread, I made reference to the comment by Bill Clinton, that if the Bin Laden operation had gone south and the Navy Seals had been killed or captured that this would have been a terrible thing politically for Obama. In other words, that was the sole risk he was thinking about, and not the risk to the Seals.

I said that I had it on good information that this was all scripted for Bill to say, and there is reason to believe that was true, since it is true of everything else he and Hillary say these days in the form of speeches, as opposed to extemporaneously. The corroboration I received was general in that sense, rather than specific.

But assume for the moment that what is true in general was not true in this particular case. In other words, assume that these were Bill’s words, which were passed by the bot overseers, and duly approved. And the more I think about that possibility, the more plausible it seems.

This is exactly how they think–the Obama administration I mean. In their internal deliberations they obsess not over the lives of the Seals–they are expendable. They obsess solely over the political impact which the success or failure of the mission will affect Obama politically. That is why they refused to attack Bin Laden five times before they finally were forced to give the order and then cover their ass with the memorandum.

Their mistake was in failing to realize that the country is more concerned with the fate of the Seals than the political fate of Obama. Knowing that Bill was able to slip that one by them, and they failed to pick up on it. Bill on the other hand understands the public mind quite well–I would venture to say he is a borderline genius when it comes to that, and he knew exactly what the reaction would be when he praised Obama for taking a political risk. In fact, it helps to define Obama further in the public mind.

In other words, I think we may have seen a master at work, and I for one was too stupid to see it at the time.

characterize the risk in terms of the political risk to Obama is an echo chamber for the very discussions they were having–and I would gladly bet my life on it. And because they are so conditioned to that kind of thinking, that they failed to consider how it would play out to a wider audience–who would be more inclined to loo

  48. Admin’s advice to Romney is sound–as always. He must stick to his game plan, and not be lured into traps which Obama sets. Apropos of that, he would have been better served to not have attacked over the debacle in China. He should have said something like I could criticize but in my view, politics stops at the waters edge. That would have been a home run, since we know Obama whines to China, Chavez and anyone else who will listen about domestic issues like immigration, Republicans etc. Like admin, Jay Cost admonishes Republicans to stick to three core issues, and offer an alternative vision. They must not get distracted. I know big media will try to pull him off into traps, but he should study how Gingrich buried them when they tried to do that to him.

Another terrible jobs report today: The establishment survey reported the economy added just 115,000 jobs. While the unemployment rate fell to 8.1 percent, according to the household survey, it was once again for the wrong reason. The unemployment rate is simply a ratio – the number of people counted as unemployed divided by the number of people in the labor force. The rate fell because of a notable drop in the latter, fewer folks are looking for work.
    Barack Obama

In fact, the household survey actually found 170,000 fewer jobs in the country this month. What’s more, the broadest measure of employment – the employment population ratio – is unchanged over the last year, despite a drop in headline unemployment from 9 percent to 8.1 percent. The employment population ratio is just 58.4 percent; a level that, prior to this recession, we had not seen in over a generation.

What does this mean for Obama’s reelection prospects, as well as the Romney campaign?

The economic picture is the bleakest for any president seeking reelection in a long time. As Sean Trende argued in late January, a composite view of the economic data suggests 2012 is a worse economic climate than 1968, 1976, 1992, and 2000 – in all those years, the incumbent party lost. It is comparable to 1960 (another losing year for the incumbent party) and only the disastrous cycles of 2008 and 1980 saw a worse economic climate for the incumbent party. In other words, no incumbent party has won reelection in a negative climate quite like this.

    Honoring Levon

There is a debate among conservative pundits whether and to what extent Mitt Romney should engage in the distractions offered by Barack Obama – the war on women, the student loan debate, the Osama bin Laden triumphalism.

My advice to Team Romney: ignore them all and focus on the fundamentals. Obama has enjoyed a bit of an approval bounce because of these campaign maneuvers, but the real fight is going to turn on three core issues.

First, and most obviously, the economy. As today’s jobs number, combined with recent data, clearly suggest, the economy is still running just above stall speed – not enough to create many new jobs, certainly not enough to generate broad prosperity. Romney needs to stretch back to the candidacies of pro-growth conservatives like William McKinley, Calvin Coolidge, and above all Ronald Reagan to run a “full dinner pail” campaign: Make clear that a Romney administration would focus like a laser beam on jobs and paychecks – and let Obama “slow jam” the news to appeal to the youth vote.

Second, the deficit. Easily the biggest sleeper issue of this cycle, it could have an explosive political effect when Romney starts talking about it. People have an intuitive understanding of the problems of a deficit, and today’s deficit is unprecedented for peacetime.

Third, the health care bill. Assuming the Supreme Court does not strike it down, this is a political goldmine for Team Romney, which need not be constrained by the fact that he is the author of the Massachusetts health care bill. Romney can and will focus on the non-ideological problems with the bill, like the overall cost, the cuts to Medicare, and the fact that many people will lose their current insurance. (And if the Court does strike it down, there will still be a focus on health care–so the Romney campaign should still be prepared to offer solutions, not just talking points.)

These are the fundamental issues that will drive this campaign. But the Romney campaign can’t take a narrow view and stop there. It must offer an alternative vision, not simply an anti-Obama position. Romney needs to be seen as a candidate who would be a competent president and problem solver.

Hats off to Team Obama for getting the conversation away from them for the last few weeks. Indeed, as campaign craft goes, it has been most impressive (although it would be more so if the president did not have the benefit of a compliant press corps). But by the time the electorate really starts to focus on the choice in front of them, these issues are going to be on the top of the agenda. And right now they all favor Mitt Romney.

    ==================

Makes sense to me. Bill does a lot of that damning by snarky praise.

  50. The number of actual jobs in the country has declined.

    ==========================

Yes, that’s what should be reported. And it’s easy to calculate: how many withholding tax forms are coming in. When fewer jobs exist now than in a former year, but the working age population has not decreased — THAT is the true measure of unemployment.

  51. return of the obots…shelby…not quite as funny as some from the past…but makes the braindead point

  52. The unemployment figure is pure nonsense. It persists for reasons which are more historical than logic. One example will illustrate the point. Suppose the economy were to improve. What would happen to the unemployment rate then? Logic suggests it would go down because more people would get jobs. Right? Wrong. If the economy improved and more people were hired, the unemployment rate would go higher. Why? Because more people who have given up looking for a job, and are therefore no longer counted in computing the figure, would start looking again. Therefore, the labor number of unemployed would increase dramatically, hence the unemployment rate would go up not down. The unemployment figure would completely distort the real picture. In a rational universe what possible value does a number like that have? It is neither descriptive nor predictive of what is going on. And yet mainstream media focuses on that figure with the same intensity as a fox terrier watching a rat hole, and when it goes down by a tenth of a point are quick to proclaim that recovery is imminent. That is how stupid and disingenuous they are.

  53. By the way, anything that AP writes ALWAYS has a pro Obama slant. Their ceo was at a conference a few weeks ago, and he began with a soliloquy to Obama. The essence of it was How Great Thou Art. That kind of bullshit flows downhill within that organization, therefore caveat emptor.

Obama’s Memoir A Tissue Of Lies

Posted 05/03/2012 07:11 PM ET (Investor’s Business Daily)

Public Trust: Our president, it seems, is quite the fabulist. A new book reveals he fabricated yet another story in his 1995 memoir, this one about a white girlfriend complaining about black anger. In his supposedly nonfiction memoir, “Dreams From My Father,” Obama claims he and the girlfriend got into a “big fight” after seeing a New York play by a black writer. He became annoyed when she allegedly asked “why black people were so angry all the time.”
Obama biographer David Maraniss contacted the former girlfriend, Genevieve Cook, who insists the scene never took place. She says they never even saw a show by a black playwright. Maraniss, who works for the Washington Post, snagged an interview with the president and asked him about the discrepancy. Obama agreed with Cook’s account. So why did he make up the anecdote? He told Maraniss it was a “useful theme to make about sort of the interactions that I had in the relationships with white girlfriends.” How convenient — especially when the overall theme of his bitter memoir is white racism.
Obama told another whopper in his autobiography. He wrote that while thumbing through a copy of Life magazine, he came across a story about a black man who underwent chemical treatments to lighten his skin. He claims he recoiled in horror at the photo of the bleached man, who looked like “an albino.” Then he says he got so angry that “I felt my face and neck get hot.” He was upset that blackness was so condemned in America that a black man would resort to making himself white. Only, that story wasn’t true, either. Life never published such an article.
Obama also grossly exaggerates his own battles with racism while attending a mostly white prep school in Honolulu. He wrote that he commiserated with his only black friend, a character named “Ray.” The Chicago Tribune tracked down the real guy, a half-Japanese Hawaiian named Keith Kakugawa, and found they never even talked about race. “The idea that his biggest struggle was race is (bull),” Kakugawa said.
After graduating from Columbia University, Obama says he took a Manhattan job in an unidentified “consulting house to international corporations,” where he acted as “a spy behind enemy lines.” In fact, he worked for a small newsletter publisher.
Countless other tall tales are in his book. At the same time, he disguised the identity of several radicals with whom he closely associated, including members of the Communist Party under FBI investigation. Whenever questions about Obama and his enigmatic past bubble up, the Obama camp refers to his memoir, which he wrote as a 34-year-old lawyer, as if it were a transparent and candid account of his life and not the tissue of lies that it’s turning out to be.
In the 2008 race, for example, Michelle Obama brushed off questions about her husband’s ties to Bill Ayers and other anti-American radicals by using that very tactic. “People have gotten to know Barack — he’s written a book,” she said.Mrs. Obama added that he’s “been thoroughly vetted. And I think people know Barack Obama.” In fact, the vetting of this president has just begun. And we’re learning only now, after he’s been in office almost four years, that he has a disturbing habit of telling stories he wants the public to hear, while concealing information and connections he doesn’t want it to know.
What else is Obama making up? Or hiding? If he plays fast and loose with the facts in his own autobiography, how can voters trust he’s telling the truth about national issues? Or about his agenda?

Exactly. What else did he make up and why is everything sealed and off limits?

  56. The NYT’s Accidentally Confirms the President’s Laughably Pathetic Work Ethic

The New York Times offers us a rare glimpse into the Sunday meetings at which the president and his key advisers plot his reelection campaign.

…[the] previously undisclosed sessions, which take place nearly every other week just across the hall from the Oval Office, are designed to bridge a divide between his campaign headquarters in Chicago and his aides in Washington in preparing for what Mr. Obama and his team anticipate will be a grueling race against Mitt Romney.

The cast of top advisers – a group limited to 10 in hopes of streamlining the meetings – offers a revealing look at the pecking order of the hierarchy in the Obama campaign… Neither Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. nor any other cabinet members are on hand. Instead, the room is filled with a group of trusted confidants who were at Mr. Obama’s side during the last campaign.

The attendance roster, which was confirmed by multiple people familiar with the list, reveals a mix of White House staff, including David Plouffe, a senior adviser and campaign manager from 2008; Jacob J. Lew, the chief of staff; Valerie Jarrett and Pete Rouse, senior advisers; Dan Pfeiffer, the communications director; and Alyssa Mastromonaco, a deputy chief of staff who has worked for Mr. Obama since his days in the Senate.

The campaign team includes Jim Messina, the campaign manager, who sets the agenda for the meeting; David Axelrod, a senior strategist; Stephanie Cutter, a deputy campaign manager; and Larry Grisolano, a top political adviser.

What I found most interesting however, was not the machinations of his Red Diaper Baby advisers like Axelrod and Jarrett. Instead, it was the numerous references to Obama’s lackadaisical schedule and the ridiculous amount of time he spends screwing around. Consider the following snippets from the Times article:

    • “…The gathering often takes place after Mr. Obama’s regular Sunday round of golf…”

    • “…aides say he still spends far more time on his iPad checking scores on ESPN than obsessively reading up on Mr. Romney…”

    • “…[He] is set to open his re-election campaign formally on Saturday with back-to-back rallies in Ohio and Virginia…”

Formally launching his campaign? Obama has already held more fundraisers than the previous five presidentscombined.

If you’d like to get a daily sense of the president’s oh-so-busy schedule, I’d encourage you to visit White House Dossier on a daily basis. Keith Koffler does an outstanding job capturing the view from the White House press room — sans the recycled DNC talking points. And he also publishes Obama’s daily schedule, which — to put it mildly — is less than rigorous.

But it’s only the most important job in the world, don’tcha know?

Furthermore, Obama’s work ethic perfectly matches an unconfirmed description by the so-called “White House Insider”, who long ago described Obama’s White House “man cave” and his fixation with sports.

  57. Haha.. The magic is gone. May be somehting to do with the supermoon tonight.

    From Althouse:

And now we see that “the Ohio event fell short of expectations: … Obama spoke to a crowd of about 14,000, well short of the arena’s 18,300-person capacity. Campaign officials said before the event that they had been expecting an ‘overflow’ crowd.”

HTA, that twitter is from Romney’s spokesperson who was at the event.

  58. There is no doubt who and what we are dealing with here. He is mentally ill but he can still function. If the doctor is right then this is this interplay between the angry ossified child and the all powerful mask he projects to the world. The connecting thread between the two is a web of lies which no one dare challenge. Big media understands all of this to a fare thee well. They are in on it. They cover for him and thereby inflict harm on society and on a posterity which has no vote. In the movie the Cain Mutiny, they are the treacherous figure played by the fine actor Fred McMurray who sets the whole thing up and then hasn’t the courage to admit it. In the final scene the attorney for the accused comes into the room drunk as a skunk, tells the crew that they are all safe now, tells them none of this would have happened if they had shown the captain the respect he needed, and then he turns to McMurray, calls him out for the fiend he is and throws a glass of scotch in his face. That is what they should do to big media, because they are responsible for all this. He is their man.

  59. Red Diaper Baby advisers like Axelrod and Jarrett.
    —————————-
I knew Jarrett was a “red diaper baby”. I did not know that Axelgrease was. I wonder if his parents were on the FBI list. I believe her parents were. The guy who would know is David Horowitz. He was a red diaper baby himself. Both of his parents were communists. He talks about this in his book Radical Son. I do not think the writer is using that term losely or indiscriminately. It is a term of art with a very specific meaning. Grease has done rather well for a red diaper baby. I understand he just bought a multi million dollar condominium in Chicago–probably Lake Shore Drive. I used to stay at a hotel there the name of which escapes me. One year they had a massive infiltration of these ugly looking parasites which covered the beach. That must have coincided with the arrival of Axelrod, the ugliest parasite of them all.

  61. The New York Times Prepares Its Readers For The Loss of Ohio

    Posted by Moe Lane (Diary)

Saturday, May 5th at 10:15PM EDT
    2 Comments

It’s all because of racism, of course:

But the main quarrels Democratic voters [in Jefferson County, Ohio] have with Mr. Obama have nothing to do with race. They include his rejection of one proposed route for the Keystone pipeline, a stance they say will harm this area, whose backbone, the Ohio River, is lined with metal mills and coal mines.

Oh, I’m sorry, but that was paragraph fifteen. Presumably the NYT decided that its readers weren’t going to read past paragraphs three and four:

“Certain precincts in this county are not going to vote for Obama,” said John Corrigan, clerk of courts for Jefferson County, who was drinking coffee in a furniture shop downtown one morning last week with a small group of friends, retired judges and civil servants. “I don’t want to say it, but we all know why.”

A retired state employee, Jason Foreman, interjected, “I’ll say it: it’s because he’s black.”

Entertainingly, the only Jason Foreman from that area that I could find is a guy who gave money to disgraced Republican Bob Ney – and yes, Foreman’s political affiliation is actually relevant. I mean, if I were to make a similar comment the Left would immediately assume that I was simply trying to cause trouble; it’s the presumption that this guy was a Democrat that makes the argument appear to be stronger.

But I digress. The truth of the matter is, there are a lot of reasons not to vote for Obama in 2012, and the NYT knows it. They even admit that the reasons why people won’t vote for him are not racist ones – with said admissions happening after the fold, of course. In other words, this is rear-covering by the Old Grey Lady; the main objective here is to get its readers gently accustomed to the notion that Ohio is going the way of Indiana, North Carolina… and at this rate, with Florida and Virginia to follow suit soon.

If doing that requires slandering Ohioans, so be it. After all, ever since 2010 Ohio is out of the map.

  62. Here is an excellent example of how big media misleads the public. This is from the chief economic correspondent from a major newspaper. They could not tell the truth if their life depended on it. Or, maybe it is the other way around, and their job depends on not telling the truth. This is so phony it may be a planted story–because it purports to be from the Washington Times. The Obama people are quite capable of this.

Unemployment falls to 8.1 percent in April
    Ads by Google

    Patrice Hill

    10:40 a.m. CDT, May 4, 2012

The nation’s unemployment rate continued its rapid decline last month, falling to 8.1 percent as another 115,000 jobs were added throughout the economy, the Labor Department reported Friday morning.

The jobless rate is down substantially from 9 percent a year ago, dropping most dramatically during the winter when the pace of job creation picked up to over 200,000 a month.

While job growth has slowed recently, at over 100,000 a month it still is fast enough to keep drawing down the unemployment rate — perhaps to under 8 percent by the end of the year, economists say.

John Silvia, chief economist at Wells Fargo Securities, said the economy this spring appears to be chugging along in a modest but durable expansion after a brief hot spell in the winter.

“The pattern appears to be an economy settling in to 2-2.5 percent growth rate — neither accelerating nor decelerating,” he said.

Job growth was widespread last month in the private sector, which is entering its fourth year of expansion this summer. Retailers, restaurants, manufacturers, mining firms, white-collar businesses and medical offices all added workers.

The only sector that continues to shed jobs consistently is government, where budget cuts are forcing layoffs and other austerity measures. The retrenchment in the government sector is a drag on growth, and economists expect that trend to continue — most likely worsening at the federal level in the next few years.

Chris Williamson, chief economist at Markit, said world financial markets will be disappointed with the 115,000 job gain last month, as many investors were expecting a heftier increase of about 170,000. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped by about 90 points at the open of trading Friday morning.

While revisions by the department show that businesses created 54,000 more jobs in previous months, the total created last month was the weakest since the swift improvement in the job market began last August, Mr. Williamson said.

“It’s a further big disappointment for the U.S. economy” after a string of recent reports showing a marked slowdown in the spring, he said. Still, with continuing declines in unemployment, the report is sending mixed signals about the strength of the economy, he said.

The fall in unemployment is good news for President Obama, improving his prospects for re-election in November. Since voters are overwhelmingly focused on jobs, the slowdown in the pace of overall economic growth is likely to get less attention than the continued improvement in the job market, economists say.

At 8.1 percent, unemployment has fallen to the same level where it was when Mr. Obama took office in January 2009.

But Douglas Holtz-Eakin, Republican economic adviser, said the decline in unemployment last month was deceptive because it was caused by people dropping out of the labor force after getting discouraged when they couldn’t find work, rather than more people finding jobs.

He called the jobs report “dreadful” because of, among other things, a flattening trend in wage gains.

“There’s not enough silver there to constitute a thread much less a lining,” he said. “Not many jobs, not much income, and not enough hope for over 300,000 workers who gave up looking.”

But Barack Obama refused to act for several months. He wanted absolute proof first that Osama was living there. It wasn’t until May of 2011 that he agreed to attack Bin Laden’s compound, almost a year later.

No wonder Mr.Taptoes, Brian Dudley Williams, Ratboy Todd, Howard Feinmen, Step and Fetch it, MoDoDoDo, Dullard Gail Williams, serenade Obama 24-7 with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TtMHUJeiSc. That is grade A propaganda, alright. Surprising it’s from a conservative source as it supports the Obama narrative.

valleyboy: I am reasonably certain that is a planted story. I wonder if it appeared in the paper itself or only on the internet version. Obama people probably planted it electronically. There is simply no way the economic editor of the Washington Times would say something like this. If they did plant it, then it would be a real coup. If they can degrade conservative media with false stories, then they win. They can celebrate their victory in the federal penitentiary.

  69. Seems to me news used to find me. But the last few days, I’ve had to go looking. This morning, I just wanted a write-up of the Oh’s in Ohio yesterday. Had to google and for that effort, first got the mybarackobama link. But then this, and negative bias shows ha ha.

Obama’s campaign is ‘Ready To Go’ after OSU visit – Campus – The Lantern – Ohio State University
snipping down to just before where MeMe coverage begins:
The president said he is going to win this campaign “the old-fashioned way” by going door-to-door, despite videos screened for the crowd before his appearance focusing on social media websites such as Twitter and YouTube. Audience members were also asked before the president spoke to call a friend and ask them to support Obama.
First Lady Michelle Obama took the podium before the president and spoke for about 25 minutes. She said she and her husband were in Columbus for “the vision we all share.” Michelle Obama spoke about “basic American values” and the “world she wants to leave” for today’s children, which includes schools that should push them to prepare them for good jobs and allowing their parents and grandparents to retire with dignity. “It’s that fundamental promise that no matter who you are or how you started out, if you work hard, you can build a decent life for yourself, and yes, an even better life for your kids,” Michelle Obama said. She also spoke about student loans. The current student loan interest rate cut expires on July 1, meaning interest rates will double if the cut is not renewed. She said most of her college education — she received her bachelor’s degree from Princeton University in 1985 — was paid for via loans and grants, but her dad “couldn’t bear the thought” of being late paying a bill that would jeopardize his children missing the registration deadline. “We want to restore that basic middle-class security to our families because we believe that folks shouldn’t go bankrupt because they get sick,” Michelle Obama said. “They shouldn’t lose their home because someone loses a job. We believe that responsibility should be rewarded and hard work should pay off.”

  70. “Bill was reading a script prepared by the Obama White House”
    ====

No, he wasn’t. He was making a statement of fact. Read it as support of Obama if you will, but the fact is there: The POTUS made a decision that would have had serious consequences (for the US, and thus for the POTUS) if the decision had been wrong.

What I have to say about this does not gainsay all the talk about Obama spiking the football or being a narcissist:

Remember from the 2008 campaign that Obama said in one debate that if he had actionable intelligence about OBL, he would take action to take him out, even if that meant violating Pakistani sovereignty. HRC responded that you always have to be careful about what you do with actionable intelligence, and then recounted the tale of WJC sending a drone against OBL based on actionable intelligence, but didn’t get OBL and caused collateral damage that had to be hushed up.

Flash forward to 2011, and we hear that CIA/DIA estimates, after 8 years of search, localized OBL with 50% to 80% certainty in the Abbottabad compound.

50% intelligence is heads-or-tails. It is akin to hearsay and by no means actionable. In layman’s terms, it’s bullshit.

100% certainty is of course actionable; but the action you take, in that case, would simply be to put the Pakistanis on the spot and tell them to go take out OBL in the compound. That, in turn, would put us on the spot because we didn’t want him alive. But in any event, a range of actions would be possible on the basis of 100% certainty.

But is 80% certainty (and that was tops) actionable?

I can tell you from experience that counter-intelligence operations are semi-psychological and semi-probabilistic. Analysts will pore over data from 2 days ago and cross it with data from a week ago and the contradictory data that just arrived, tentatively connecting the dots and sending out backhanded queries to check the reliability of one source or another. It’s painstaking work and you’re always dealing in hearsay and unsure of your sources.

If I had been POTUS in April 2011, I would have told the CIA/DIA to circle the compound and continue their cross-checks until they got “better than 80%” or even 90%, and no talk of 50%. I like to think that HRC gave him such advice, and that’s why she watched the operation with hand over mouth.

As it was, then, Obama green-lighted the hit job with 20% to 50% certainty that OBL was actually NOT in the compound.

Is that courageous? In my opinion, it is more madness than it is courageous, and that is what WJC is talking about:

What would have happened if the SEALs went in and came out empty-handed, after having killed the wrong person(s), or having engaged the Pakistani military on their home turf? As it was, there was an innocent woman killed during the event and nobody said anything about that – not even on this blog.

Such outcomes would be impossible to cover up and would be inexcusable if OBL were not in the compound.

And there is still the possibility that the body they fed to the fish was not that of OBL.

  71. wbboei: “General Jack Keane (Retired), the former Vice Chief of Staff of the Army, told Mike Huckabee tonight that Barack Obama knew about Osama Bin Laden’s hideout since the summer of 2010. But Barack Obama refused to act for several months. He wanted absolute proof first that Osama was living there. It wasn’t until May of 2011 that he agreed to attack Bin Laden’s compound, almost a year later.”
    ====

If this is literally true, i.e. Obama “wanted absolute proof”, then it is all to Obama’s credit. But I heard just after the raid that Obama was working on 50% to 80% certainty, which is very far from “absolute proof”. I think General Keane is surmising something about which he himself knew nothing at the time.

  72. wbboei-

    ——————————————————————–
I do not think he was surmising something about which he himself knew nothing. I think he is reporting what he was told by a senior military officer with first hand knowledge. That of course is hearsay. However, I think it is reliable hearsay. This is a war. In war, you are always dealing with imperfect information. You strike at probable targets based on the best information you have. You strike while the iron is hot. You do not wait ten months to strike at a high value target. Ten months. What he wanted was proof beyond a reasonable doubt to strike at a high value target which could fade into the shadows at any moment in which case the opportunity would be lost. All he wanted was political cover. And even after he was Shanghaied into a decision he resisted making he just had to write that mawkish cover his ass memorandum. This is not the same thing as insisting upon proof of WMDs before you launch a major engagement. On the contrary this is part and parcel of a politician playing at war, and freezing at the moment of decision. We saw this first in the Somalian Pirate episode when he refused to give the order to shoot, therefore to prevent the moment of opportunity pass and the captain be killed and the Navy be blamed, a disguised Seal went on CNN, and told the nation that we are in position, prepared to act and still waiting for the White House to give the order. Now, try finding that video on the internet. It is not there. It has been scrubbed–either by Obama or by the Navy. But happen it did. I have two friends who saw it, and neither one of them is delusional. One is a college professor.

  74. Jwsezey: I commend to your attention Vom Kreig–On War, by Carl Von Clausewitz. You cannot make of war something which it is not. It is not a court of law. When you are going after a man who killed 4000 American civilians, and you have reliable information (part of which was supplied by a Pakistani general who has since disappeared thanks to his being outed by the Obama’s man Brennan in order to squeeze the last ounce of credit out of this affair), you do not dither–or procrastinate as the General described it. These Navy Seals launch as many as a dozen operations per week based on imperfect information. They do not require a photograph to act. If we imposed that requirement on these operations our military would be rendered impotent. Again, this is not the Iraq War situation.

  75. “This is a war. In war, you are always dealing with imperfect information. You strike at probable targets based on the best information you have. You strike while the iron is hot. You do not wait ten months to strike at a high value target.”
    ====

I have to cool you down a bit here. OBL since 2002 was only of symbolic value, both to us and to Al Qaeda. That was the reason why he was so difficult to locate – since at least 2005 he was living like a hermit and had no operational contact with Al Qaeda. If he had been an active commander, he would have been much easier to find because there would be messengers coming and going, meetings with his top aides and so forth.

OBL’s high profile, then, did not make him an operational war objective but was due to the smoke and mirrors accusations laid against him. We had more time to certify his whereabouts and, considering the downside of a mistake, which is what WJC was talking about, I personally think Obama should have pressed further for confirmation.

He was a hermit, and that is why the intelligence community had a hard time pinning him down. General Keane says they “knew” OBL was in this compound in mid-2010. I insist the “knowing” is not an intelligence term when you’re talking about 50%-80% certainty. 50%-80% is equivalent to saying “This may be bullshit, but we kinda think he’s thereabouts.”

  76. The book is out of print. A friend of mine gave a copy to WJC. He wrote a nice note back thanking me for the things I said about Hillary and saying I was one of the few people who understood the Iraq Resolution. By then the Obama campaign and their co-conspirators in big media had mislead the American People on the intent of that legislation. Also, Hillary sent me a letter of appreciation.

  77. wbboei: With all due respect to Von Clausewitz, your suggestion that I read his work to settle a modern military question is like telling me I should read Marx to understand today’s economics – and I do think that Marx made a number of points that are applicable to Obama’s world.

But I think Von Clausewitz would understand that OBL was a virtual monster more than a real one, and that violating another nation’s sovereignty on a fool’s errand (i.e. if OBL was not there) was very risky business.

  78. I have to cool you down a bit here. OBL since 2002 was only of symbolic value, both to us and to Al Qaeda.
    ——————————-
I do not understand your logic. If he was responsible for the death of 4000 Americans isn’t that enough to take him out? If he could serve as an inspiration to others of similar mind isn’t that reason to act as well. If he could disappear at any moment, then why procrastinate for ten months–except for the reasons I suggested. The criterion here is not whether he was personally on the cusp of launching a new offensive and had to be taken out for that reason. The test is what the general said, namely by procrastinating for ten months we ran a high risk that he would disappear. If he disappeared, he could still incite others to acts of violence, and the crime he committed would not receive the retributive justice it called for. Defense of this procrastination has the smell of the lamp to it. Ask any special forces soldier and he will say what I am saying. Ask most lawyers and they will say justice delayed is justice denied.

  79. wbboei: With all due respect to Von Clausewitz, your suggestion that I read his work to settle a modern military question is like telling me I should read Marx to understand today’s economics – and I do think that Marx made a number of points that are applicable to Obama’s world.

But I think Von Clausewitz would understand that OBL was a virtual monster more than a real one, and that violating another nation’s sovereignty on a fool’s errand (i.e. if OBL was not there) was very risky busines
    —————————–
You could argue that this was a case of Hot Pursuit, consistent with International Law. You would have to get past the argument that it has been too long for that doctrine to apply, but to the extent he has been in hiding, I would argue that the doctrine of latches is not applicable because we have not slept on our rights. Remember we are talking about an International criminal with blood on his hands who was sheltered by the Pakastani military and intelligence service. To say it is a fools errand to violate the sovereignty of another nation to go after him strains credulity. If necessary, I would defy international law to do it, given the alternative. Remember we had a 25 million dollar bounty on him and no takers.

  80. wbboei: With all due respect to Von Clausewitz, your suggestion that I read his work to settle a modern military question is like telling me I should read Marx to understand today’s economics – and I do think that Marx made a number of points that are applicable to Obama’s world.

    ———————-
I think we have operations going on inside Pakistan right now, and we use drones over that air space. We may deny it, but it is happening. As far as Clausewitz is concerned, I direct your attention to the following passage as it relates to the overall war vs the killing of Osama:

“Morale elements are among the most important in war. They constitute the spirit that permeates war as a whole. At an early stage they establish a close affinity with the will that moves and leads the whole mass of force, practically merging with it, since the will is itself a moral quality. Unfortunately, they will not yield to academic wisdom. They cannot be seen or counted. They have to be seen or felt.” Book 3 Chapter 3.

  81. “To say it is a fools errand to violate the sovereignty of another nation to go after him strains credulity.”
    ====

Now, I did not say that. I clearly specified “i.e. if OBL was not there”.

If we sent the SEALs in and they did not find or kill OBL, it would be a fool’s errand. The SEALs would be made fools of, especially since they lost a helicopter as they did on Jimmy Carter’s intervention to save the embassy hostages in 1980, and the US (ergo the POTUS) would be made a fool of.

You’re avoiding my basic point here by treating this whole incident in terms of our basic justification for rooting out OBL, which I am not disputing, and in terms of military urgency, which I do dispute by pointing out that OBL was of symbolic value and had nothing to do with Al Qaeda operations any more, but the military aspect is not my point.

To restate my basic point, the military operation itself was the tip of an iceberg, the underwater portion of which was the intelligence estimate of OBL’s whereabouts. If that intelligence estimate had been wrong, there would have been a lot of explaining to do, to the Pakistanis and to the world. This is what WJC was talking about. He was not making a statement prepared by the White House or particularly aimed at supporting Obama.

    ____________

François Hollande Beats President Nicolas Sarkozy in French Election

François Hollande swept to victory on Sunday, becoming the first Socialist to become president of France since François Mitterrand left office in 1995.

Mr. Hollande campaigned on a kinder, gentler, more inclusive France, but his victory over Nicolas Sarkozy will also be seen as a challenge to the German-dominated policy of economic austerity in the euro zone, which is suffering from recession and record unemployment.

With about half the vote counted, preliminary results released by the Interior Ministry shortly after the last polling stations closed at 8 p.m. showed Mr. Hollande had secured about 51 percent of the vote while Mr. Sarkozy, of the center-right Union for a Popular Movement, won about 49 percent.

  94. Obama Meets His Nemesis

As the Greeks saw it, “nemesis” was an abstract force (personified by the goddess of divine justice of the same name) aimed directly at the destruction of a single individual. It is nemesis that brings down the heroes of the tragedies. A force that builds up over years, inescapable, inevitable, and in large part created by the hero’s own actions. Nemesis is very much the Western equivalent of karma. It is a form of divine payback, which, we are told, is a bitch.

Nemesis is what is taking down Barack Obama. Not politics as such, not the actions of his opponents — at least not yet — not any disaster or setback in the world as a whole. Obama is in the process of being ablated as the result of his own actions, born from his own personal flaws. There’s a certain type of personality that constructs a life out of the nurturing and protecting its own failings rather than attempting to resolve or overcome them. This is the only formula that is required to understand Barack Obama.

For close to four years, I’ve been arguing that Obama’s actions as president — actions taken in defiance of law; of American tradition; of the realities of current condition; and, not the least, of the American people — would, in his final months, take him down. That was my prophecy, vouchsafed unto me in the seventh house during the seventh hour of the seventh day, and behold, it is coming to pass exactly as foretold.

Nobody acts with the arrogance of an Obama without paying for it. In the ancient dramas, it was called hubris. (A lot of debate exists as to how that word was actually pronounced, there being no “u” sound in ancient Greek. Some say it’s an “ee” sound; some say a “y.”) The hero apes the gods; begins to view himself as more than human, beyond the laws that prevail even on Olympus; and the machinery of fate starts grinding. And once that machinery goes into motion, it doesn’t stop until its victim has been reduced to dust.

Obama is one of the most arrogant figures ever to sit in the White House. John Adams, Andrew Jackson, and Teddy Roosevelt do not have a thing on this man. There has been considerable speculation that his condition is clinical, that he is in fact a narcissist in the psychological sense, and there is evidence to back this contention. The public sneer, the smirk, the upthrust chin, the repeated use of the personal pronoun at times when it is far from appropriate (e.g., the speech announcing the shooting of Osama bin Laden, where you’d be forgiven, from the way he told it, in believing that Obama himself took the old butcher out in single combat). The remarks like “I won” in circumstances where they are completely uncalled for. He required no help, on taking office, in boosting his already mammoth ego to the level of near-megalomania, but he got it anyway. Obama, we were told, was “kind of God.” He was the One, the Messiah, the “Alpha and Omega,” in the words of a chant repeated by some of his followers — a description that in the Old Testament was limited to the Almighty and none other.

Obama was praised as fulsomely (in the real sense of the word) as any individual since Josef Stalin. But unlike Uncle Joe, he actually believed it. This kind of thing would have turned the head of even most solidly grounded of individuals; with someone as unstable as Obama, it was fatal.

It was fatal in that it set the stage for nemesis. And Obama took it from there, with some of the most lurid, unjustifiable, and grotesquely inflated policies and programs since the heyday of the New Deal. The $760-billion stimulus. Government takeover of entire industries. The shanghaiing of an eighth of the American economy through his health-care plan. And this is only to mention the most egregious offenses. There is scarcely a single aspect of American life that Obama hasn’t attempted to remake in his own image. And why not? He was the Alpha, after all. And the Omega.

The odd thing is, he didn’t actually do much. He didn’t really put a lot of work into it. Like a Divine Right princeling, he thought that all he needed to do was make his wishes clear for them to be realized — an odd conception of the presidency that I think is unmatched anywhere else in the record. Obama wanted millions of shovel-ready jobs; he sent his Ivy League-trained economists out to arrange it. He wanted a health-care revolution, and he turned that over to Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. And so on down the line — every revolutionary program was assigned to some secretary or czar or union goon.

The results have been what any normal individual might have expected. As Americans, we have gotten next to nothing out of all this wasted effort and energy and cash. But that’s more than what Obama got. Because the only thing he got was nemesis.

His grand schemes are falling apart. It seems that a week doesn’t go by without another “green” corporation — Solyndra, First Solar, Ener1 — going down the tubes despite (or perhaps because of) being funded to the tune of hundreds of millions by Obama’s functionaries. His dream machines — the electric cars and high-speed trains — have been transformed into punchlines. His grand design, ObamaCare, appears to be headed for the boneyard through action by the Supreme Court, the only question being whether the justices will kill it outright or maim it to a point that it can’t survive. (Obama’s reaction was characteristic: public insistence that the Supreme Court had no right, historically, legally, or otherwise, to lay a finger on one of Obama’s sacred endeavors.)

Which brings us to the open scandals. Arrogance begets arrogance. The United States was born out of a reaction to imperial flunkies who truly believed that they could behave as vaingloriously as their monarch and his corrupt nobility. The Bourbons were brought down not so much by their own actions (Louis XVI was in fact something of reformer) as those of their out-of-control bureaucrats. It’s no different today. We see it in the GSA scandal, the Secret Service hooker scandal, and above all in the Justice Department’s Fast and Furious scandal. All these result from hirelings mimicking the activities and attitudes of their bosses, including their ultimate boss in the Oval Office. Each is rooted, and obviously so to even to most blasé observer, in arrogance. Fast andFurious reveals the blueprint: a crazy scheme (gun-running on one hand, ObamaCare on the other) that no commonsense individual would ever consider for a moment put into play despite protests, disaster ensuing by leaps and bounds, deliberately ignored because the scheme “has to work,” a climax amounting to complete collapse, with the protagonist (Holder, Obama) acting as if none of it has anything to do with him, as if he can simply walk off without so much as a word spoken.

Obama believes exactly that. So pure is his arrogance, so exalted his narcissism, that he will do nothing to defend himself out of the conviction that no such thing is required of him. That he, among all human beings alive in the second decade of the third millennium, does not need to respond under any circumstance. This is the difference between Obama and previous administrations — Richard M. Nixon and Ronald Reagan worked like stevedores to overcome Watergate and Iran Contra, Nixon with no success while Reagan at last put it behind him. But Obama, exactly like his appointees, doesn’t think he has to make any defense at all. He truly believes that he can’t be touched. (The other difference between these scandals and earlier ones is that hundreds have died as a result of this administration’s activities.)

This is pure arrogance, and it is a hallmark of nemesis. Because none of this is going away. The current scandals will continue to snowball, and there will be more coming over the next months as the seeds scattered by Obama in his first years burst into bloom. (As this is being written, there comes word of a DreamWorks scandal busting open, involving Joe Biden; the Chinese; and, for all I know, the guy who thought it was a good idea to make a picture out of John Carter of Mars.) They have had three years to germinate and spread. As the campaign heats up, so will the scandals.

Obama will then find himself in the lonely place — the place where the naked soul comes face to face with the machinery of fate itself. A place that a man cannot walk out of, where no excuses can be made, where no explanation will ever suffice. By the time it’s all over, the election may well be the least of Obama’s worries.

The Greeks gave us a complete picture of a very basic human predicament, arising out of the personal flaws and failings of the individual. A portrayal that still speaks to us because its basic elements remain unchanged even with the passage of millennia. We are seeing it repeated in our time. It will be a terrible spectacle. But it will also be just.

Dunn is masterful. Three years ago he wrote a piece on why Obama is a flake. It too was brilliant. He did not think Obama would be elected. But he underestimated the power of mainstream media. Until the American People as a whole are willing to brand these people–nbc, cnn and abc for the liars and traitors they are, they will retain the power to do Obama’s bidding. They are incapable of backing off, for the same reason that when a man owes you a trillion dollars, he is no longer your debtor–he is your partner. Their credibility and business future is tied entirely to Obama, and they will fight against thet American People and the truth itself to save their own skin. These people have no honor, and they have impeached themselves over the past four years.

  99. CBS and FOX have kept the flame of broadcast journalism alive. Oh they have their duds. But they also have world class people like Steve Croft, the lady who is covering Fast and Furious, Krauthammer and others who are an object lesson to journalism and the older tradition of a free press that protects our freedom. We owe that tiny group a debt of gratitude. Without them King Obama would be free to destroy everything the American People have created on this continent over the past 200 years, with the help of NBC, CNN and ABC.

  100. http://dailycaller.com/2012/05/06/scrapped-snl-skit-mocks-obama-for-taking-credit-over-bin-laden-killing/

The Daily Caller has obtained a scrapped sketch critical of President Barack Obama that was intended for airing at the opening of last night’s “Saturday Night Live” on NBC.

In the skit, President Obama addresses Americans soon after the first anniversary of the killing of Osama bin Laden — and he makes sure to remind viewers that all credit for the raid on the terrorist leader’s compound belongs to him.

“I hope you had a safe and joyous first anniversary of his killing,” the president, portrayed by Fred Armisen, begins.

“Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to be at home this year, as I had to fly to Afghanistan, to remind President Karzai that, exactly one year ago, we killed Osama bin Laden, and that the decision to do so was a gutsy one,” the president continues. “And was mine.”

The president then outlines what gifts are appropriate on the anniversaries of “Killing Osama bin Laden Day,” and reminds his audience that “heavy drinking, and Killing Osama bin Laden Day, are never a good combination.”

The full text of the skit, which was authored by comedian Jim Downey, is viewable below. It is not clear why the skit was scrapped.

The real President Obama has faced harsh criticism in recent weeks for allegedly politicizing bin Laden’s death by taking too much credit for the operation that killed him.

Instead of the skit, NBC opted instead to air a parody of Fox News Channel’s “Fox and Friends.” That skit, which also featured Armisen, mocked Fox News personalities by portraying them as clueless partisans.

  101. It is not clear why the skit was scrapped
    —————————-
NBC scraps a comedy skit critical of Obama and the writer says the reason for this is “not clear”? That is like saying the sum of 1+1 is not clear.

  102. Who is better–Tiger or Obama–excuse me Obama or Tiger. Both are legends in their respective fields. Both have captivated the love and attention of millions. Obama had his dalliances with Larry Sinclair, and that fictional character he or Ayers invented. And Tiger’s dalliances, well they are the grist of his alimony settlement, I will say no more about that. Unlike Obama, Tiger does not pretend to be perfect. Tiger is the greatest golfer ever, but his teacher Hank Haney (who is a 14 carrot asshole)wrote a book on him called The Big Miss. It recounts how often Tiger was leading the tournament until on one hole late in the round the wheels came off. Typically, it would be one errant shot, so Haney invented a special shot for him to hit in the tightest of tight situation–a low screaming fade which would land soft and never let him down. Tiger of course being the complex human being he is tortures Haney by hitting that shot on the practice range, but never on the golf course when he needs it. But again Haney is an asshole so who cares. Obama on the other hand is not a complex human being. He is perfectly transparent and what you see is what you get. In his mind he is better than Tiger, and mainstream media would agree, just as they agree with everything else he says. And, Obama has no errant shot in his bag, therefore he has no need for a special shot to protect him in a tight situation. Oh, he knocked off Obama and then did a never let them see you sweat commercial for Mitchum deoderant. But the latest evidence of his god like ability is the fact that while campaigning in Ohio, he found the time to personally dispose of the terrorist who perpetrated the Cole incident. He is a wonderful multi-tasker, a real problem solver, and a patriot to boot. Clearly a greater than Lincoln.

Forget about him. Bring me the heads of the people who inflicted him upon this country at the worst of all times.

Fahd al-Quso, a top Al Qaeda leader on FBI’s most wanted list for his role in the USS Cole bombing in 2000, shown left, has been killed in an CIA drone strike, US officials say.

  103. Right now the Messiah is just trucking along. The yawning gap between rhetoric and reality is just a detail according to Brian Williams, and for Obama, this is the way it has always been, and it is certainly nothing to worry about. As he told Hillary, I can make them believe anything I want them to believe. And big media has made guaranteed it. But when his numbers start to drop, and nothing he tries works, then Katie bar the doors. For then the angry ossified child tyrant will emerge. And charges of racism will cut through the night air. Right now it is like watching the prelude to the eruption of Mt St Helens, and when Obama blows no man will be safe. An angry God–or deranged bullshit artist who thinks he is a god.

Good for Europe! Let’s do the same here.

  105. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/05/06/french-election-results-sarkozy-gets-the-boot.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+thedailybeast%2Farticles+%28The+Daily+Beast+-+Latest+Articles%29

France—and, along with it, Europe and possibly the global economy—are about to enter a new and uncertain era. Socialist François Hollande has defeated French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The margin of victory was 52 percent to 48.

The new guard may not be not quite as scary as Hollande’s left-wing rhetoric during the campaign has led some people to believe. Even before the numbers came in, he was moving to reassure financial markets by reaching out to German Chancellor Angela Merkel. And even among the jubilant crowds at Socialist Party headquarters there was a clear sense that tough times lie ahead. [snip]

So it would be a mistake to think that the results tonight marked an enthusiastic popular embrace of Hollande’s socialist platform, which could be summed up by the good old American epithet “tax and spend.”

Hollande has claimed that the austerity pact negotiated by Sarkozy and Merkel (or “Merkozy,” as the French dubbed them) was so severe that it killed growth and therefore hindered rather than helped recovery. A growing chorus of influential voices, from American Nobel laureate Paul Krugman to European Central Bank President Mario Draghi, have agreed, at least in principle.

But Hollande’s ideas could be put to a concrete test very quickly—like, on Monday—by the financial markets that Hollande described during the campaign as “the enemy.” The elections in Greece, which also took place today, may make the markets even more jittery and speculators more aggressive. And France is going to have to borrow about €180 billion ($240 billion) before the end of the year. Under Sarkozy it already lost its AAA credit rating. If borrowing rates start to climb dramatically, the hope of clawing out of the slump will fade very quickly.

  106. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/07/business/global/wary-markets-likely-to-wait-to-cast-vote-on-france.html

Markets will not attack France right away,” said Jacob Funk Kirkegaard, a research fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington. “But there is a risk that if Mr. Hollande does not act early on, France will become the next sick man of Europe.

Whether Mr. Hollande or any other French leader could lift investor confidence is unclear; unemployment is at a 10-year high of 10 percent, and the national debt has ballooned to 86 percent of gross domestic product, well above an estimated 78 percent in Germany. [snip]

His talk has already had the effect of unnerving some investors, who drove France’s borrowing costs higher recently on concern he was underestimating how costly some of his spending programs might be.

More than 55 percent of France’s gross domestic product is made up of public spending, the highest in the euro zone.

“That shows that the only way to change things is to reduce public spending, but François Hollande is still willing to increase it to finance his measures and balance the budget through higher taxes,” said Evariste Lefeuvre, chief Americas economist in New York for the French bank Natixis. “It’s something that will frighten markets a bit.” [snip]

These troubles have investors fretting that France is drifting from the “core” of strong European economies that include Germany and the Nordic countries. These days, many are starting to lump France with the weak large economies of Spain and Italy, along Europe’s troubled southern rim.

With a large public deficit and a sharply diminished manufacturing sector that has eroded under globalization, “France can already be considered part of the south,” Mr. Lefeuvre said.

  107. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/may/06/francois-hollande-rescue-french-economy

François Hollande expects to inherit a worse public finances predicament than that declared by the Sarkozy administration and will promptly spell out several unpleasant truths to the French electorate, according to senior German officials.

Despite fears that he will pursue a “dangerous” economic policy featuring a return to Keynesian tax-and-spend practices, Hollande and his campaign team have told the Germans that this has been ruled out. “We can’t do Keynesianism twice in 10 years,” Michel Sapin, the former finance minister who wrote Hollande’s economic programme, told senior German diplomats, according to a confidential note obtained by the Guardian.

“Hollande is aware that right at the start of his term in office, he will have to spell out hard truths to the French,” says the eight-page memo from the German embassy in Paris to Angela Merkel’s office in Berlin. Hollande has vowed to launch his reform programme as soon as he takes office on 15 May, prioritising a rise in taxes for the wealthiest and curbing the state deficit.

The self-styled Mr Normal who has promised to scale down the trappings of the presidency, will begin with the symbolic measure of cutting his own presidential salary by 30%, and that of his ministers. He will immediately issue a series of decrees to ease the French electorate’s concerns about their finances, including a three-month freeze on fuel prices and a rise in allowances for parents.

Hollande must move fast if he is to capitalise on an election dynamic he hopes will give the socialists a majority in parliamentary elections on 10 and 17 June. He has conceded he will have “no state of grace” and little room for manoeuvre in France’s dire economic situation.

Economists, including those on the left, have warned of a dreadful “hangover” after the election results as the realities become clear in a country burdened with a spiralling public debt, where unemployment is at a record high, growth is stuttering, industry is in decline, competitiveness is low, there is a gaping hole in social security coffers and unions fear a swath of factory lay-offs after a lull during the campaign.

Hollande’s team have stressed that his cautious and pragmatic intentions are the reverse of François Mitterrand, the last socialist president’s early days in 1981 which saw an initial 18 months of high spending before being forced into a U-turn and austerity. Hollande’s team have predicted a difficult two years amid hopes of wealth redistribution at the end of the five-year term. [snip]

The Hollande team stressed that fiscal and economic reforms would be based on supply-side changes, but that Hollande will also demand European “protectionist” measures on trade policy to try to reduce France’s €70bn external trade deficit, the German memo said.

It is absolutely essential to generate growth but this can only be accomplished by supply-side measures and is no longer possible through state spending programmes,” the Hollande team told the German diplomats.

  108. pm317: “Sarkozy out. Anti-incumbent season. I like that!”
    ====

You hit the nail on the head. More than “Hollande In”, it was a matter of getting Sarkozy out.

I happened to be at the Bastille square last night at the stroke of 8 pm when the results were announced. The roar of joy from the crowd was deafening and the revelling went on and on through the night as one socialist after another took the podium.

But who could be so gleeful about the dullard Hollande? I mean, May 10, 1981, was a watershed event and Mitterrand was an inspiring figure, not because of his razor-edge victory that day but because of who he was. May 10 has become a day of celebration for socialists ever since and the focus is on Mitterrand.

    But Hollande? Puh-lease!

A few months ago, polls predicted a 60% victory for Hollande. Just after the first round, his lead was projected at 53%-56%, which would still be a handsome victory against an incumbent. The final result was 51.9%, which was 1.7% better than Mitterrand’s score but actually is only a measure of how much the people wanted to get rid of Sarkozy. I haven’t seen the abstention calculation and blank vote count yet, but abstention and blank votes would be a good indication of people’s negative feelings about both candidates.

In its own way, though, this vote is almost as earth-shaking as the first Mitterrand victory because it is a sign of anti-incumbent fever (this fever was first expressed in the high Front National vote in the first round) which extends beyond the borders of France=

Angela Merkel, in an unusual move, had called upon the French to vote for Sarkozy. Yesterday, Hollande said that if he won the election, the first thing he would do would be to call Merkel. As it happened, it was Merkel who called Hollande, and invited him to Berlin. Merkel the incumbent is losing ground too, and the Franco-German tandem is too important in Europe for it to go awry.

  109. The uncharismatic Mr Hollande, who has never held any ministerial office and is the first socialist to win the French presidency since Francois Mitterrand in 1988

………………………sounds familiar, now where have i seen a socialist win the Presidency without ever doing anything of substance? Oh yeah and look how that turned out. Thank God Sarkozy is gone but I’m not expecting miracles from Hollande, however if he can doom the EU and the Euro to oblivion, I’m all for it.

Jeswezey, the abstention/vote spoil was 20.1%, saw it on France 24 last night……that is a huge protest vote.

Obama must have seen what happened in Paris and Athens last night and the UK last week in local elections and the german state election last night (all kick out, anti incumbent votes) and be thinking “that will be in a few months” because this is precisely what is going to happen, Obama will be turfed out on his butt. Its open season on ruling Govts at moment

  110. One last thing, Merkel has not got a leg to stand on now, she lost her ally Sarkozy who was holding back the floodwaters for her, she is on very shaky ground at home with the electorate.

    She has 2 options….

1 : Give Hollande all he wants.

2 : Stand on her own, remove Germany from the Euro and watch the EU project go down in flames.

Either is going to collapse the EU and the Euro, so she may as well get on with it on her own terms.

  111. admin:

    (1) The Daily Beast article is third-hand info laced with spin, conjecture and empty theory. “Hollande’s ideas could be put to a concrete test very quickly – like on Monday – by the financial markets” is an old rhyme. The market did open bearish this morning; but that is, at best, just a matter of new investors taking over from old ones. It is not a “concrete test”, it’s a smoke-and-mirrors game.

    (2) The NYT quote is a little better, but starts off by claiming that the “markets will not attack France right away,” which is in obvious contradiction with the reality of this morning’s bearish opening – i.e., the markets are indeed attacking France right away, before Hollande has even taken office. Again, smoke and mirrors.

I recall Edith Cresson’s one memorable quote on the matter: “I give a crap about the stock market.” Cresson was a mediocre PM, but I agreed with her on that. Stock market heartbeats are not fit reading material for a government leader because they are after-the-fact, whereas the leader is supposed to be ahead of the game. In the present case, Hollande isn’t even in office yet. So what is he supposed to care about the stock market?

    (3) The quote from The Guardian is very good because it takes pertinent information from German sources.

I object only to the mention of “spiraling public debt”, which is simply not the case. French sovereign debt has stayed in the range of 85% of GDP for the last three years, and of course depends on the level of GDP and the estimated debt. This is definitely higher than German debt, but whether or not it is a problem, or how much of a problem it is, depends on how the debt is structured, which raises questions like:

    a) To whom is the debt owed? Domestic banks/investors? Foreign? That is, the Japanese debt is astronomical – I think the highest in the world – but nobody ever talks about it because the debt is owed to Japan’s own financial community. The Japs don’t care about ratings agencies. Actually, the French don’t either: S&P dropped France to AA+ but France is still borrowing at less than 3% with no risk premium.

    b) How much of the debt consists of state ownership of corporations and guarantee of debt incurred by those corporations? In the case of France, state ownership is huge and can be liquidated by privatization. The question then becomes, “How much are these corporations worth today?” which is why the sovereign debt can only be estimated.

I would also point out that the stupid Daily Beast article sums up Hollande’s platform as “good old American epithet ‘tax and spend’”, while the Guardian article based on its reliable German sources debunks this.

  112. moon: “the abstention/vote spoil was 20.1%, ……that is a huge protest vote.”
    ====
That puts turnout at just under 80%, which is actually pretty high. It rarely goes above 80% in France. So in fact the protest was not so huge as I thought it would be. If Hollande were more inspirational, he might have pulled 82% max to the polls.

“now where have i seen a socialist win the Presidency without ever doing anything of substance?”
    ====
I know you’re assuming that Obama is a socialist, but once again I can only object that he is the farthest thing you can imagine from a socialist. Marxist maybe, but socialists are not marxists.

You seem to be anxious to bring down the EU or at least the Euro. Reasons?

  113. Now the press will natter on about re-alignment of parties and the changing dynamics of society in Europe, blah, blah, blah. The Greeks and the French are sick of idiots running their countries. They are tired of the idiots running the EU. The people haven’t changed. They want the fools and crooks gone. If the parties won’t purge themselves the electorate will do it for them. The same thing is happening here. These are whipsaw elections. There is nothing about these results that should be a surprise to anyone who can see how disgusted the populace is with the nitwits who have managed to run everything into the ground.

This is normal. This is how the pendulum swings. The further out of whack everything is, the further the electorate swings to push the incompetent, crooked, and just plain old assholes out. Obama was a pendulum swing after a deeply unpopular war monger of a president. Instead of understanding this, he tries to set his narcissistic self up as Messiah divider in chief. He has throw things further out of whack after indicating he was going to work with the opposition. We have a two year election cycle and 2010 clearly showed the change in direction. Obama chose to ignore it. The Democrats chose to blow it off. This is a whipsaw that culls the herd. It is too late for Obama or the Democrats to do anything about it except make it worse.

  114. Mormaer: You’re spot-on as concerns Europe, and I hope you are just as right as concerns the US. There is still the Bill Maher white guilt syndrome to be dealt with – it would be racist not to give Obama a second term.

  115. Mitten’s remarkably rapid response:
Published on May 6, 2012 by mittromney
Yesterday, President Obama launched his campaign by telling Americans not to ask if they are better off than they were four years ago, but how they’ll be tomorrow. This follows a jobs report that found more than 340,000 Americans dropping out of the labor force and an unemployment rate that remains unacceptably high.

  116. Basically because the EU bureaucracy is pariahful of crooks and thieves that don’t listen to anyone but themselves.

You cannot pull a pile of countries and people together that really cannot stand each other, its asking for trouble, the european peoples individual culture and country identity is being destroyed by the EU project and the Euro, that is just a whopper of a disaster.

  117. “…people together that really cannot stand each other…”

Whoa, that may be one of the reasons that Turkey was refused entry into the EU, but I don’t see any such antipathy among the 27 current members.

The EU has grown up and now stands on the foundation of the Paris-Berlin axis. Since the days of De Gaulle and Adenauer, this partnership has been firm and trusting and the bellicose mindsets of 1872 to 1945 were long gone.

For decades, the Germans willingly deferred to the French for various reasons; but since Merkel, the Germans have come into their own. There are differences now, but the partnership is too strong for the two to go their separate ways, and to what purpose?

In any case, you certainly cannot say that France and Germany “cannot stand each other” and you cannot rightly say that either for the constellation of countries surrounding them. The UK, maybe, but then again the UK is everybody’s worst enemy.

As for the “crooks and thieves” inhabiting Brussels, I don’t see any justification for saying that. The technocrats of the EU Commission operate on an open, consensus basis. They’re not democratic in the sense of being elected by the people and proceeding by majority vote; but then again, as far as I see it, that is a big big plus. That’s worth a discussion, of course; but I don’t see any evidence of thievery in Brussels.

The Euro: There was an old socialist, Chevènement, who was planning to run for President and eventually did not, who proposed relegating the Euro to the status of the SDRs, i.e. a common currency rather than a single currency. We would then have EuroMarks, EuroFrancs, EuroLira, EuroDrachmas, and so forth, with the relative values of these fiduciary currencies being negotiated on a regular basis so as to avoid the speculation of yesteryear. This would let each country print its own currency again and devalue, for example, to improve its trade balance.

Hollande may discuss this with Merkel. Would that kind of setup please you more than the Euro?

  118. On the light side & video at link:
Biden slipped up yesterday on Meet the Press referring to “President Clinton” instead of President Obama. Host David Gregory asked if the “buzz” suggesting that Hillary Clinton should replace Biden on the presidential ticket annoyed him in any way. “The thing that annoys me about it is the implication of that that somehow President Clinton is weak and he needs some kind of help,” Biden said “I mean. . .”
    “President Obama,” Gregory corrected.
“That’s not directed at me,” Biden continued. “And it’s unfair.”

And that salute would be for addressing my biggest pet peeve and to my perspective, the most in-your-face-abuse of tax payer dollars.

No one likes paying cell phone bills. What if you could get a free phone with a calling plan whose cost was paid by the federal government? What if you could have eight free cell phones? You can, and people do, Rep. Tim Griffin told The Daily Caller. The annual bill runs over $1 billion, and he’s trying to stop it.
The federal government started the Lifeline program to provide phones to low-income Americans. It originally provided only landlines, but cell phones were added several years ago.
“That’s when the program absolutely exploded and has become a nightmare,” Griffin said in a phone interview with TheDC. Calling it “Uncle Sam’s unlimited plan,” the Arkansas Republican has proposed a bill that would scale back the program to its original form: landlines only.
“People are not only getting [one free cell phone], they’re getting multiples. There are reports of people getting 10, 20, 30 — just routinely getting more than one, selling them, storing them up, whatever,” Griffin said.
“And they’re not just phones that are able to dial 911. They’re smartphones. They’re the type of phones that you and I pay hundreds of dollars a month to have contracts for.”

Griffin said his constituents have told him about people abusing the government benefit.
“I had someone call me this morning telling me they had somebody who would only work a certain number of hours a week because if they worked too many hours a week then they couldn’t get their government assistance. And that person has multiple cell phones, and gets them new every month with new minutes,” he said, sounding outraged.

  120. Just re-read what you have said……you think its a plus that EU technocrats are not democratically elected and do not give the people of the EU a proper vote on referendums and laws and certain govts refuse to let the people decide treaties in referendums, they just foist it on them and you think that is ok? I wonder why the people in the Eu are so pissed off with them and booting out incumbent after incumbent Govt. Surely it can’t because they ignore the majority of the people? The EU is not a democratic entity, it pretends to be but it does damn well what it pleases irrespective of who complains and its main aim is to strip countries of its identities and run control from its institutions.

As for crooks and thieves within the EU institutions, I suggest you take a look at how much money is being drained on outrageous expenses from euro mps and how much money is being passed through on gravy trains for their friends and just exactly who is benefitting from it all, why have the EU’s accounts not been signed off in decades?….because they are so damn full of fraudulent behaviour, it would make accountants heads spin.

As i said you cannot sticky plaster a multitude of countries like the ones in Europe who’s way of life, culture and laws vary wildly and expect them to all get along like long lost friends, the rivalries throughout history and now cannot just be washed and put away like toys into a box. If you think that is the case then really you have no idea of history. When it boils down to it, The french do not trust the Germans and this goes for a multitude of nations within europe. Its like welding republicans and democrats together so they cant get away from each other and expecting some sort of miracle.

Take the EU countries back to their original currencies, there was no need for a single currency in the first place, it was always doomed for to be a disaster, all the currencies still operate and are still daily adjusted in the background for such an event, they just need to print them.

US secretly releasing Taliban fighters, report says | Fox News
The US has been secretly releasing captured Taliban fighters from a detention center in Afghanistan in a bid to strengthen its hand in peace talks with the insurgent group, the Washington Post reported Monday. The “strategic release” program of high-level detainees is designed to give the US a bargaining chip in some areas of Afghanistan where international forces struggle to exercise control, the report said. Under the risky program, the hardened fighters must promise to give up violence and are threatened with further punishment, but there is nothing to stop them resuming attacks against Afghan and American troops. “Everyone agrees they are guilty of what they have done and should remain in detention. Everyone agrees that these are bad guys. But the benefits outweigh the risks,” a US official told the Post.

Well then let me put the hard question to you:

Do you believe it is a good thing to extinguish the political voice of the people?

Do you believe it is necessary to do that in order to avoid the belicose state which existed between the Franco Prussian War and the end of World War II? The practical implication of an affirmative answer is that the problem was Germany, and not the way Germany was treated as a rising power in Europe determined to take its place on the world stage.

When it comes to the limeys, the frogs and the krauts, I think they are all insufferable, but on a personal level the krauts are the worst. In my personal dealings with the krauts I have found them to deceptive people, who get their jollies from feeling superior to the rest of us, and like Obama there is a profound difference betweeen their inflated self image and what they are actually capable of doing. If you know these people then you know why Operation Barabrosa was not a surprise, or simply an artifact of the Nazi era. For them it will always be today europe tomorrow the world. The problem in that is other than the fact that it reqires the subjegation of everyone else is, when push comes to shove, these people are not capable of running the world, any more than Messiah Obama is. Let us hope our future does not look like Berlin in the summer of 1945.

  128. moon: “you think its a plus that EU technocrats are not democratically elected and do not give the people of the EU a proper vote on referendums and laws and certain govts refuse to let the people decide treaties in referendums…”
    ====

Yes, I think it’s a plus that EU technocrats are not democratically elected. It’s not simple to explain, but some of the reasons may be apparent in my answer to your post:

First, I have to say that the technocrats are not in the business of passing referendum-scale legislation, or making decisions that should be decided by the parliament or people.

For example, in the effort to pass a behemoth 800-page constitution a few years ago, the constitution was neither drafted nor decided by Brussels but was proposed as a new treaty among the members.

Your idea of “letting the people decide treaties” would be a novel one in world history, with the possible exception of Ancient Greece. Did the people of the United States, England, France etc. vote on NATO, for example? or the peace treaties with Japan and Germany? or any other treaty that the United States has engaged?

No, because it is the Federal Government that ratifies or rejects treaties on its own, and even the state governments with their extensive powers are denied this right, no less the people. Treaties are not decided by the people anywhere in the world.

Giscard d’Estaing, who had a hand in writing this constitution, wanted it ratified as a normal treaty. Chirac, who was President at the time, insisted that it be put to the vote and campaigned for its passage, but lost. Giscard and Chirac both lost face, but the EU technocrats were unfazed.

“I wonder why the people in the Eu are so pissed off with them and booting out incumbent after incumbent Govt. Surely it can’t because they ignore the majority of the people?”

Who is “them” here? The EU technocrats? No, “them” is Gordon Brown, Nicolas Sarkozy, Berlusconi, Papandreou, Merkel and so forth. As each incumbent falls, the composition of the Commission might change a little bit because the technocrats are appointed by the national governments; but the only real change will be at the level of each State.

The technocrats are there to do the States’ bidding. The is said to be supra-national, but the States still remain sovereign.

“the rivalries throughout history and now cannot just be washed and put away like toys into a box.”

That’s an apt metaphor, but I disagree with “cannot” because that is exactly what has happened: The rivalries have been “washed and put away like toys into a box.” You should not underestimate the capacity of today’s Europeans to act and react like adults who do not play with toys anymore.

“When it boils down to it, The french do not trust the Germans…”

No, you’re very wrong there. The French do not trust the Brits, as nobody should, and yet that distrust has no effect on the coherence of the EU because the EU operates openly, so the Brits can’t be as treacherous as they have been traditionally – they have to come out in the open.

Compared with their distrust of the Brits, though, it could be said that the French and Germans trust each other almost deeply: They call each other “cousins” (a reference to their common racial roots).

De Gaulle put it succinctly, saying that the difficulties between France and Germany (1872-1945) had been a passing matter between cousins, while the rivalry between France and “perfidious albion” dated back a thousand years. This is why I often say that the UK is only marginally European.

“…and this goes for a multitude of nations within europe.”

The bloody breakup of Yugoslavia is over now, and the resulting countries may never be integrated into the EU. As for the 27 countries in the EU, I don’t see any cases of “welding” impossible opposites, though disparities do exist.

Nobody in Poland, for example, thinks he is being forced to live like a Dutchman or Italian. Yet he might want to do so, in which case he can thank the EU for creating the Schengen space through which he can migrate at will.

I don’t see why this is so hard to understand, or why you view Europeans as being too disparate to stand each other, because the same situation exists in the United States:

I have been around to about 40 states, and I can tell you that the feel of the land and culture is very different going from the heart of Manhattan to the hills of West Virginia, to Mobile, to Dallas, to Seattle, to Los Angeles, to Eugene, Las Vegas, Butte, Salem, Atlanta, Tampa, to the point of just thinking of all those places in a row makes my head swim.

And even though the same language is spoken everywhere with little variation, our history tells us that at one time we were engaged in a war pitting one part of this great nation against another and resulting in enormous bloodletting and enduring enmity. Maybe it took us a while to get over it, but it’s done now.

Europeans went through two wars in 30 years that were both far bloodier than our Civil War, and when it was over they had had enough. They put their toys away quite a while ago.

Sarkozy’s Loss in Part due to his Islamophobia
The bad economy in France and outgoing President Nicolas Sarkozy’s refusal to do a stimulus program, preferring instead “austerity,” were the primary reasons he lost the election to Socialist Francois Hollande. [….] But some of the margin of his defeat came from his pandering to the discourse of the French anti-immigrant far right, which he did especially vocally after he was forced into a run-off against Hollande. Sarkozy said there are too many “foreigners” (he meant immigrants) in France, that police should have greater leeway to shoot fleeing suspects, that the far right are upstanding citizens. He even talked about “people who look Muslim.”

[….] Sarkozy tried to depict the French Left as so woolly-headed and multi-cultural that they were coddling and even fostering the rise of a threatening French Muslim fundamentalism that menaced secular, republican values.

[….] Sarkozy, by embracing the noxious language of hatred of immigrants and fear-mongering about secular Socialists spreading Muslim theocracy in the villages of France, failed to convince the hard right to vote for him but managed to alienate the center. Even MPs in his own party began speaking out against his having gone too far.
Of course, the kind of violent, anti-immigrant, and Muslim-hating language Sarkozy used is par for the course in the GOP in the US today. But aside from some Libertarians such as Ron Paul, where are the mainstream centrist Republicans who will openly denounce it? Who among Republicans recognizes that the sorts of things Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich andMitt Romney say about a monolithic Muslim Caliphate menace are violent and contradictory to the values of the American Republic.

I will say one thing about the free cell phone project…they must have a very big advertising budget because their very friendly advertisements inviting people to use the plan are on television frequently…that alone is a big waste of money…and from what i hear the problematic issues besides waste are that drug dealers are using the phones and it makes doing their business a lot easier…

…btw…just look at your phone bill and start adding up all the fees and taxes the rest of us get stuck with…while we foot the bill for multiple smart phones and free minutes and an unregulated system for who knows who to do who knows what…

That may be true but Sarkozy is right about the French left being so woolly-headed and multi-cultural that they were coddling and even fostering the rise of a threatening French Muslim fundamentalism that menaced secular, republican values. 132. Here’s a frickin’ heart-breaker, and I hope to God that Bill is right, that maybe she will change her mind before 2016.

Hillary Clinton wants female US president, but insists it will not be her

KOLKATA — Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Monday she wanted to see a female US president during her lifetime — but insisted she was ready to “get off the high wire” of top-level politics.

“I hope so. I really want to see that in my lifetime,” Clinton said during a town hall meeting at a girls school in India’s Kolkata, when asked about the prospects of a woman taking America’s top job for the first time.

Clinton praised India’s “great display of women empowerment” due to the prominent role played by female politicians over the years but said that in the US “we still have a pretty hard glass ceiling that has not been broken at the presidential level.”

The former First Lady and New York senator, who was beaten by President Barack Obama for the 2008 Democratic nomination, reiterated that she was not interested in another shot in 2016.

“I have been active in high-level politics for last 20 years. I feel it’s time for me to get off the high wire,” she said. “I would like to come to India and wander without streets being closed and a lot of security.”

Clinton said the path to the US presidency was extremely tough, especially for women.

“I was very excited to run for president. I was very honored and pleased with the votes I got. But our system is very difficult to navigate, for men and women, but particularly for women. There are two races — money race and vote race,” she said. “[A] Candidate has to raise millions of dollars during the election, and I myself raised tens and millions of dollars used in my campaign. I think we have to keep trying till [the] final glass ceiling be broken.”

Despite Clinton’s repeated insistence that she is ready to retire, rumors of a 2016 run are never far from the surface.

Last month, her husband, former president Bill Clinton, said he would be “happy” if she decided to run but added that it was unlikely.

“I believe that she’s being absolutely honest with you when she says she doesn’t think she’ll go back into politics,” he said. “But if she comes home, and we do this [William J. Clinton] Foundation stuff for the rest of our lives, I’ll be happy; if she changes her mind and decides to run, I’ll be happy.” [AND SO WILL WE, BIG DAWG]

Vice President Joe Biden on Sunday joked that he may team up with Hillary Clinton in 2016, before adding, “I don’t know whether I’m gonna run, and Hillary doesn’t know whether she’s gonna run.”

    From WIKI

Generally speaking, Cole approaches the Middle East and West Asia from the point of view of anti-colonialism. Viewing the USA as a colonialist power, he sees it as defending the post-World War I “Sykes-Picot/Balfour architecture” (described as “a colossal failure”) against Arab nationalist or pan-Islamic challengers. These foundered for various reasons, especially “particularism.” The U.S., like previous empires, seeks to take advantage of such internal rivalries in order to “divide and rule.”[34] Terrorism, he explains (after comparing several countries in the region), is the result of foreign occupation in combination with weak states.[34]

On the nuclear issue, he writes that “Iran is a good ten years away from having a bomb,” and points out that Ali Khamenei and other leaders have condemned nuclear weapons as un-Islamic.[40] Cole also dismisses the Bush administration’s allegation that Iran has supported terrorism in Iraq or Afghanistan. Rather, the U.S. has lent support to anti-Iranian terrorist groups such as PEJAK.[42]

Cole chastised several U.S. presidential candidates including Hillary Clinton, Rudolph Giuliani, and Mitt Romney, for making bellicose statements about Iran in order to present themselves in a tougher or more conservative light.[43]

In an article published at the Slate Magazine website, Hitchens accused Cole of attempting to minimize and distort the meaning of the speech, which Hitchens understood to be a repetition of “the standard line” that “the state of Israel is illegitimate and must be obliterated.” Hitchens also denigrated Cole’s competence in both Persian and “plain English” and described him as a Muslim apologist.[46

Cole is a strong critic of Israel’s foreign and military policy and its treatment of Palestinians. He criticizes the nature of America’s support for Israel and the activities of the “Israel Lobby”,[58] and claims that some senior US officials such as Doug Feith have dual loyalties to America and the Israeli Likud Party.[59]

Cole opposes boycotts of Israeli academics because he believes that the academic community in Israel is mostly opposed to the policies of the Likud party.[60]

Cole’s perspective is also informed by his Bahá’í background which favors internationalism, ethnic diversity, and modernism — values which he traces to various 19th-century Middle Eastern historical developments (the subject of his Modernity and the Millennium.) One important consequence is that he tends to value multinational (and especially UN) initiatives over unilateral military ones.[35] Another is that he favors multi-ethnic states over separatist movements. A third is that he views Islam (along with other religions) as essentially good, but distorted by certain of its political appropriators (and critics).[3

  136. Obama is not responsible for the jobs situation. And anyone who claims otherwise is a racist. How do I know that? I know it because he has a bulletproof alibi. He was playing golf. He has three unimpeachable witnesses who will testify to this: fat-ass Robert Wolf (Soros Lieutenant and head of UBS in America), Jamie Dimon (president of Chase-Manhattan), Bill Ayers (who is just now learning the game, having just returned from the Cordon-Bleu cooking school in Paris). Therefore, since he has been otherwise occupied these past four years, it stands to reason that Mr. Obama could not have caused the jobs debacle. It is all Bush’s fault, as any self loathing bot will tell you. But, he is not above fudging the unemployment numbers now and then–especially in an election year.
    —————————————————–
There is lots of talk about the “fiscal cliff” the U.S. faces at year end, as stimulus and tax cuts go away.

So the last thing the government needs now is market distrust in its job numbers. But, as analysts dig into the government job numbers, questions are increasingly being raised about the reliability of the data, from questionable revisions in the weekly jobless numbers to the odd changes in unemployment rates.

For 59 out of the last 60 weeks, the weekly jobless numbers have been revised, after the fact, always in the same direction: higher. That’s unheard of.

Those revisions higher make the present week’s unemployment number look better in comparison, more so since the markets often treat the prior week’s revision as an afterthought.

And there is statistical manipulation in the unemployment rate, too. The government’s reported unemployment number doesn’t include people who stopped looking for work, but who want jobs.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics says the unemployment rate is dropping, and fell from 10% in October 2009 to 8.2% now. That’s got the White House and media pundits saying an economic recovery has taken place, and that the President’s stimulus bill, which cost more than $750 billion to date, has driven unemployment down towards 8% as promised.

However, the unemployment rate is the number of people out of work but who are actively looking. The government doesn’t count in that rate the now 6.3 million who have given up and stopped looking for work, but want jobs. That number has grown from 5.7 million in January 2009.

So, this “improvement” in the unemployment rate is artificial — it was due to workers giving up and dropping out of the labor force.

The statistic to look at simply counts the people who are either working or not working. It sets aside the idiosyncratic manipulation whether they’re actively looking for work or not.

If the adult labor force participation rate stayed the same today as it was when the Great Recession ended in June 2009, at 67.5%, the unemployment rate would be 10.9%.

“Some 80% of the reduction” in the unemployment rate from 10% hit in October 2009 to today’s 8.2% “has been from adults quitting the labor force,” says economist Peter Morici.

Morici adds the unemployment rate “rises to 14.5% if you factor back in those who’ve stopped looking for work but would re-enter if there were jobs, as well as part-time workers who would prefer full-time positions.”

Yes, the number of people who have given up looking for work include retiring baby boomers. Still, there is no decent government data showing the number of actual, retiring baby boomers, only estimates. And there are no solid data showing the number of boomers retiring who still want to work.

Overall, government estimates show we have less people wanting to look for work as the population ages, and that’s bad for Social Security, which depends on workers funding it. The “labor force participation rate is declining as baby boomers retire, and what is striking is that decline even includes the number of students and immigrants looking for jobs,” says James Farrell, FOX News analyst.

So ask yourself this: As more people drop out looking for a job, is it right that the government counts it so the unemployment rate looks lower than it really is?

What’s important is the broader trend. Since President Obama took office, America has lost a net 740,000 jobs. But during the first 30 months of President Ronald Reagan’s economic recovery, which started in December 1982, total U.S. employment increased by 8.9 million jobs.

All of this was borne out in the disappointing April ADP employment report today on new private sector jobs, which arrives two days before the Dept. of Labor’s payrolls report for last month.

The ADP number came in showing 119,000 jobs were created in the private sector in April, while analysts had expected it would show that U.S. employers added 177,000 workers (still lower than the 209,000 increase recorded in March.)

It’s important to note that the ADP jobs report has tracked the Labor Department’s numbers closely for the last 10 years, according to Charles Brady, senior editor at FOX Business.

“While there is often a wide variance between the two readings, the directional correlation is very strong — they move in the same direction,” Brady says.

The engine of U.S. job growth, small businesses (those with 1-49 employees), reported a weak 58,000 jobs created, the third straight monthly decline and the lowest since August. Small businesses that produce goods lost jobs, too. Large businesses with more than 500 employees added just 4,000 jobs.

ADP says weather may have played a factor. Better hiring in the mild winter months could be leading to a “payback” in the spring, as businesses have already done the hiring they need for now. Still, all of this means it is unlikely there will be a decline in the unemployment rate Friday, unless the labor force shrinks again, which would not be good, either.

This Friday, forecasters expect the Labor Department to report the economy added 165,000 jobs in April — better than the 120,000 in March, but still under the 212,000 rate for the first quarter, when the U.S. economy grew at just a 2.2% annualized rate.

The U.S. economy is creating jobs, but it is struggling, adding jobs at a rate of just 131,000 a month in 2011, which is not enough to reduce the unemployment rate.

Morici says the U.S. economy “must add 13 million jobs over the next three years — 362,000 each month — to bring unemployment down to 6%. GDP would have to increase at a 4% to 5% pace.”

    So there you have it.

Since when does a nation’s labor force shrink during a recovery? It should not shrink, it should grow in a recovery. The labor force participation rate is at the rate it was in 1979 and 1982, even around the same rate it was back in 1969, while the worker population has grown dramatically since.

The rate now is 63.8%, trending at the 30-year low it just hit this past January, at 63.7%. Today there are 154.7 million people over age 16 who either have jobs or want jobs, but out of a much bigger total U.S. population of 16 or older, 242.6 million.

That’s around the same level in July 1982, when the labor force participation rate was 65.3%. There were 110.3 million people working or who wanted to work out of a smaller population of 172.2 million people aged 16 or older.

The labor force participation rate has stayed pretty much the same as it was in 1969, at 60.1%, and 63.8% in February 1979, when the total U.S. population of 16 or older was smaller. The same holds true for more than a decade ago, in April, 2000, when the employment-to-population ratio was 64.7%. That’s when the overall population was lower. at 282 million, versus the 310 million today.

Obama administration, including his czars and his closest Progressive supporters, are planning a manufactured insurgency against America. Using the media to garner both sympathy and support for his unfinished goals
The planned re-election of Obama, revolutionary style

    The Contact

It was not the proverbial 3:00 a.m. phone call, but close enough. And it was not made to the White House, but to my house, which is not white, nor is it in DC. It was about 2:30 a.m. on 25 April 2012, and the call itself was somewhat unexpected. I had anticipated the telephone call from my DHS insider much earlier the previous day, but our schedules didn’t synch up. I was traveling on an investigative assignment, while my source was in meetings all day. I had just fallen asleep, and was slumbering no more than 20 minutes when the phone rang.

It began on Wednesday, 2 May 2012 with a 45-minute interview on TruNews with Rick Wiles when I first disclosed the information I received the previous week from my source. The information I relayed “went viral,” as they say, across the internet.

To support the statements I made during that interview, I am showing my handwritten notes taken contemporaneously during our conversation. My notes consist of two pages and are, at various points, admittedly difficult to decipher. I ask that points not be deducted for my penmanship given the time of the morning which they were taken.
According to my source, there is talk among the highest levels of the uppermost echelon of the Department of Homeland Security, which he describes as effectively under the control of Barack Hussein Obama. During this call, he said that the DHS is actively preparing for massive social unrest inside the United States. He then corrected himself, stating that “a civil war” is the more appropriate term. Certain elements of the government are not only expecting and preparing for it, they are actually facilitating it,” stated my source.

“The DHS takes their marching orders from the Obama administration, from Obama himself, but mostly from his un-appointed czars. And Jarrett, especially Valerie Jarrett. Don’t think for a minute that the administration is doing anything to stabilize events in the U.S. They are revolutionaries, and revolutionaries thrive on chaos,” he added.

My source stated that he has not seen things this bad since he began working within DHS. “It’s like they [DHS agency heads] don’t care about what the American people see or feel about what the DHS agencies are doing. They figure that if the average American will put up with being “sexually groped and nuked” just to fly, they’ll accept almost anything. “That’s why their actions are becoming more overt. “It’s in your face and the brass actually chuckle about it” said my source.

    New Information

Astounded by the information my source provided “going viral,” I spoke to him again early Sunday morning. This was a scheduled telephone call (as noted on page 2 of my notes) based on a high level meeting of DHS personnel that was scheduled for and took place in Chantilly, Virginia, on Saturday, 5 May 2012. He hoped to provide me with more information to supplement that which he already given. Although he was not personally present, his source was. While he would not say who was at the meeting on Saturday or give its precise location, he said that the many of the names would be recognizable. He spoke to his source late Saturday night.
    **************************************
“I can tell you word is getting out that people are starting to wake up, which is causing a lot of ‘pissed off brass.’ I can’t tell if they are more desperate or upset about the exposure, but the tone is starting to become a lot more tense. I hope that we’re having something to do with that,” he added.

With that, he provided me with additional information to supplement that which he already given me on 25 April. For clarity purposes, I have combined the information together from both contacts. The following information includes the updated information provided to me Sunday morning.

    Obama the revolutionary

Metaphorically speaking, there’s a revolution going on in the U.S., propped up by three legs. Economic chaos, chaos through racial division, and chaos through class division, all joined by one core element: Barack Hussein Obama and his stable of unelected czars. Obama is using the lessons learned in 1968 as the template for 2012, and many of those who were active in the late 1960s are now calling the shots for 2012.
“The Obama administration and many of the un-elected ‘czars,’ either directly or indirectly, are engaged in covert activities with the occupy movement, various labor protests, and other subversive activities inside the U.S.,” stated my source. Using untracked campaign funds, they are paying people to infiltrate the various movements to cause physical destruction of property and disrupt commerce. That began last year, but has increased ten-fold already this year,” stated this source. He added that they are using some lower level DHS agents to make the payments under the context of tracking subversives, but they are the unwitting subversives. “It’s like Fast & Furious” but in the social realm,” he added.

“Obama is using some high profile people as pawns to foment the revolution. I heard several times through very credible sources that [Louis] Farrakhan is on the CIA payroll. Other have been named as well, but I’m not prepared to identify them yet. Farrakhan is to coordinate the Blacks and the Muslims to prepare for riots this summer, using any means necessary.”

“Mentioned at the meeting Saturday were methods to use pawns to simulate the rioting in the Arab Spring countries, but to the benefit of this administration. A controlled chaos thing,” stated my source. They envision rioting starting in the urban areas first, such as New York and other major cities, followed by a disruption of business and commerce. This will allow the DHS to mobilize their various teams into the streets of America without objection of the people,” stated my source.

“They want to restrict travel, if not through high energy prices, then by checkpoints and curfews mandated by rioting and unrest. They understand we are the most well-armed nation in the world, yet they are aware of our vulnerabilities and intend to fully exploit them,” he added. The whole purpose is to keep Obama in office for another term, no matter how unpopular he is, as he is not finished changing our country from a Constitutional Republic. This is the run-up to the 2012 elections, or perhaps causing enough chaos to delay them – indefinitely.”

One statement that rattled me more than anything was that a great number of those already in power, whether in appointed or elected positions, actually want to see Obama stay in power, according to this source. “This is what we’ve been working toward and we’re closer now than we’ve ever been. If we lose now, we might not have another chance.”

This chilling common goal also explains the lack of interest in the Constitutional legitimacy of Obama. It is common knowledge that Obama is not an American, and neither is his agenda. Of course, criticism of his bona-fides feeds into the cries of racism, despite the massive fraud perpetrated on the American people. Party lines are meaningless when the common objective is the revolutionary overtaking of America.
Obama, the professor of Keynesian economics

“The Obama administration is working closely with Bernanke, Geithner and others not to save our economy, but to outright destroy it. He is not the first or only one to try this, but the most effective and most vetted for that purpose. Do you actually think that the fact that Timothy Geithner’s father worked with Obama’s mother in Indonesia was coincidental,” stated my source rhetorically. “What we’re seeing now is the fourth quarter of a game that started long ago, which also currently involves . . . . . .

“There are file drawers full of papers, heavily guarded papers at the ‘TEC building’ so I can only imagine what’s in them, about international financial dealings going back decades. I do know, or at least I was told, that they involve organizations that are the so-called conspiracy fringe groups, such as the Bilderberg group, the Trilateral Commission, and people including George Soros, Henry Kissinger, and current leaders of big industry. Some are fossils. They’ve been around a long time. Others are up-and-coming. They’ve got one thing in common, though, and that is to put in place a global system of governance, including a common currency.

Economics is a huge part of this revolution, and they want to replace the dollar, to see it collapse. They expect, that is, they are working toward this very goal, and when this happens, it will cause chaos like never seen before in the history of this country.”

“Why do you think Jon Corzine is not only walking around, but heavily involved in Obama fundraising? They know it’s just a matter of time that Europe will implode economically, and when it does, start counting the days before we see massive hyperinflation and the ultimate collapse of the U.S. dollar,” stated this insider. “What will it look like in the streets of America when the general population realizes that there is no money? That’s right, chaos.”

Obama & the planned racial divide

According to this insider, the Trayvon Martin case is just the tip of the iceberg. “You certainly don’t have to be a genius to understand how Obama and his team played the public on this issue, and it’s far from over. But that’s not the sole element of what we’ll see this summer.”

“Remember the shots fired at the White House not too long ago?” asked my source. There was an element of outrage that was squandered, according to ‘team Obama.’ In fact, Obama and some of his closest advisors, especially [Valerie] Jarrett were incredibly angered that the outrage was seemingly tempered. It should have been an opportunity to use our force against the Tea Parties, the gun clingers, the Constitutionalists, and everyone who has complained about Obama. DHS should have stepped in right then, and used that event to start the clampdown,” this source stated about White House comments.

This source stated that from that point on, the DHS must become more responsive and aggressive.

Watch for a false flag event against Obama or his family, something that will outrage ‘black America.’ It will be carefully choreographed, but executed in a manner that will evoke the ugliest of reactions and create racial chaos in this country that will make the Watts riots, 1968 and the Rodney King riots pale in comparison. That’s the third leg in this.”

    The planned end-game

Does Obama look worried about the upcoming elections? Look at his lavish vacations, his limited work schedule, and those with whom he is working. This is a very dangerous man who has, as his closest advisors, people who have orchestrated the revolutions of the 1960s. They know the “trigger points” in America.

The Obama administration, including his czars and along with his closets Progressive supporters, are planning a manufactured insurgency against America. He is using the media to his advantage to garner both sympathy and support for his unfinished goals. He is desperately seeking a way to remain in office, even if it means the surreal prospect of an indefinite postponement of elections – if it can be pulled off. So far, he’s got the support of the majority of the DHS “brass” behind him, according to my source.

“They’re power hungry, and they want to remain in charge,” stated this source.

The “surreal” aspect of suspended elections won’t look so surreal when you see any or all of the “trigger points” take place in the not-so-distant future.

“The end-game plan for America is its destruction as a Constitutional Republic, with the assistance of the agencies under the umbrella of the DHS.”

My sourced stated one more thing that seemed to tie things together. He urged me to recall the quote by Henry Kissinger who was speaking at a Bilderberg meeting at Evian, France, on 21 May 1992:

Today Americans would be outraged if U.N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order; tomorrow they will be grateful. This is especially true if they were told there was an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all peoples of the world will plead with world leaders to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well being granted to them by their world government.

That threat need not be from beyond. All it might take is a world of starving, broke and desperate people.

Note: My source promised more information at a later time. Stay tuned.

Yes, I read it soon after the link was posted at UM.

What struck me was the verbiage was right out of the Bible, the New Testament, in Revelations.

“The Pale horse, the Horseman, the dead seas devoid of life, the chaos that would come”… coincidence?

  150. Now THIS sis a riot! remember all tho bleeding heart fools crying over the unfairness of requiring photo ID to vote?

Well, guess what, OFA chief Jim Messina dent out a memo about how to prepare for a caucus and stressed PHOTO ID IS REQUIRED!

Good for the goose but not good for the gander, hmmmmmmm?

Wish someone would make a vid about that slight hypocrisy.

  151. The following mirrors the conclusion I came to about mainstream media, i.e. their descent into madness. It is a system of perverse incentives, and no constraints. Therefore, in the fulsomeness of time it had to come to this. From truth teller to advocate for social change to useful idiots for the Obama–from larva to pupa to the black fly disease which blinds its victims. Somehow, some way the American People must realize that big media is promoting a perverse agenda to protect their income and their world view at the expense of millions of Americans. I ran the article by Dunn which Mrs Smith posted yesterday past a friend of mine who is easily one of the smartest people on all levels that I know. She agreed with everything in it, and sooner or later nemesis will take Mr. Obama down, but the great unanswered question is whether this will happen before November. She is less optimistic about that than I am–because we have a fundamentally corrupt 4th estate. Nemesis is stalking Obama, big media and Congress. She marvels at the fact that these people do not understand that sooner or later nemesis will visit them as well.

The Origins of the Lapdog Media
    By Steve McCann

Noam Chomsky, a self-declared socialist, once said, “Any dictator would admire the uniformity and obedience of the US [mainstream] media.” Never would he have imagined that his critique would apply more than ever to the present-day relationship between the mainstream media and President Obama.

This march to the media’s present role of being in league with the Obama administration is the culmination of the good-versus-evil narrative of modern journalism. The process of determining who are the righteous and who are the villains began almost half a century ago.

The manufactured villain evolved to be: 1) the traditions and tenets espoused by the founding fathers and the present day-politicians and citizenry (i.e., conservatives) who stand for those values, and 2) the perceived “unfairness” within the free enterprise system. The righteous: all those claiming to oppose the fabricated villain and favor “equality.”

In the 1960s, a social revolution took place against historical and societal norms. An era of peace and prosperity unprecedented in the history of mankind was underway in the United States, allowing a new generation who had never experienced hardship on a massive scale to focus on hedonistic pursuits, self-aggrandizement, and a search for meaning in their lives.

This movement was promptly seized by the true believers of the Left as a recruiting tool; Leftists proclaimed to the gullible that the United States was an unjust, repressive instrument of capitalism. The siren song of a classless society wherein all are treated fairly and there are no absolutes found eager ears. The protests against the Vietnam War and the very necessary civil rights movement, which achieved so much, were hijacked by many of the post-depression generation into a call to overthrow all of society’s foundational standards.

The protests surrounding the Vietnam War, and then Watergate, that most infamous of scandals, not only gave rise to the resignation of a president, but also accelerated the virulent polarization of politics and the beginning of the end of the impartial mainstream media.

As a consequence of the media’s perception of their own role in ending the Vietnam War and Watergate, the press began to look upon themselves not as neutral reporters of the news, but rather as a crusaders out to right the wrongs, as they perceived them, of the United States. Journalism, as taught in the university and promoted by those who had been active in the 1960s, came to be viewed not as an independent watchdog of government regardless of who is in charge, but rather as a vehicle for social and economic change.

As further incentive, the journalists who successfully assumed the role of “societal avenger” were feted by their fellow scribes, became celebrities, and coincidentally achieved great wealth. This, in addition to any so-called noble calling to transform the United States, became a vital part of the metamorphosis of journalism from news-gathering to news manipulation and the naïve promotion of a radical leftist ideology.

Over the intervening years and into the present, the far Left effectively promoted: 1) the false and unfounded desire by conservatives to turn the United States into a theocracy, and 2) guilt for the nation’s past and one’s own success. These tactics became the basis for many of the gullible in the media to promote the policies of the Progressives without understanding what, in fact, the end game was.

It became more important and fashionable for a majority in the media to protect their lifestyles against the right-wing horde descending upon them, and to assuage their guilt, rather than comprehend what was happening around them or the controlling agenda they unwittingly supported.

Thus, the coverage of news stories concerning conservative issues or politicians became notable for vitriol and deliberate slanting or omission of facts. Polls, commissioned by the media and easily manipulated, were substituted for news and real reporting. Every personal failure of a Republican politician was amplified into a national outcry. All civility and traditional objectivity was rejected when discussing the (predeterminedly) evil conservatives.

By comparison, those politicians who said the right things relative to morals and lifestyles and used the magic phrase “social justice” were treated in an opposite fashion, except when a story, thanks to the alternate media, became too big to ignore.

This 45-year evolution of the mainstream media culminated in the election of Barack Obama, who on the surface fulfilled all the requirements of an ideal presidential candidate for the chattering class. He was one of them — Ivy League-educated, well-spoken, attractive, and capable of saying all the right things designed to appeal to the myopic worldview of the New York-Washington media axis. But above all, he was African-American, an opportunity to wash away the collective guilt so embedded in the psyche of the press.

Barack Obama also knew that he had those tangible and intangible factors, and he used them to manipulate the press. The mainstream media willingly became, to use a phrase often attributed to Lenin, useful idiots. Obama’s background and radicalism were ignored, and all effort was exerted to tamp down negative stories and make certain that he was elected.

Yet after a year and a half of the Obama administration, the very members of the media who so prostituted themselves are being treated with outright disdain by their Idol, and they will be among those to suffer the most under his policies.

The Health Care Reform Bill is not about health care; it is a thinly veiled attempt to ultimately control the behavior of the citizenry. Once government controls the access to and the cost of medical treatments, it can dictate what behavior is acceptable under the guise of controlling expenditures. Thus, the very personal behavior many in the media deem so central to their lives could be outlawed by this or future administrations, or Congress.

The Obama budget projects near-trillion-dollar annual deficits for the next ten years. The national debt will exceed 100% of GDP by 2019. Although everyone now acknowledges that this level of spending is unsustainable, there is no intention to reduce expenditures, but rather to continue creating new entitlements. Therefore, massive tax increases, which will fall heavily on the income segment that includes most of the media, are at the forefront of the Obama agenda.

The socialist economic policies of this government will cause the standard of living for the members of the media and their progeny to dramatically decrease along with the country at large. If unchecked, the Obama administration will succeed in moving a step closer to accomplishing a major goal (one the media chose to ignore during the campaign): Reduce all to one economic class through income redistribution.

The present administration intends to proceed with its plan to have Washington, D.C. control all aspects of the economy through regulations, bailouts, and bureaucracy. How long will it be before the mainstream media, either through the seeking of bailouts or having new standards and regulations imposed on them, fully succumb to the control of the government?

Indirectly, this administration, by its hubris and radical policies, and the media, by its sycophantic allegiance to Barack Obama, have enabled the alternative media to expand by leaps and bounds, thus threatening the very existence of the mainstream media and the well-paying jobs of those who with their eyes closed pledged fealty to Barack Obama.

If the (once-)mainstream media is to become relevant again, it must recognize and acknowledge what damage it has done to itself. It must look past skin color and ideology and begin reporting honestly on where this government is leading the United State and all of its citizens, the media themselves included.

If not, then the country can only hope that Joseph Pulitzer was not prescient when he said, “Our republic and its press will rise and fall together.”

    [excerpt end]
    &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

I thought “looking for work” meant that you were actively collecting unemployment, and where part of collecting unemployment is that you are obliged to prove, upon request, that you are “actively seeking employment”. If audited, you’d have to prove that you contacted X number of employers, etc.

And that when you’re unemployment runs out, you are no longer in that pool of “job seekers”.

Now, I may be wrong…I’m all ears for people who know labor issues. But I think I’m right.

  154. My understanding is that the unemployment rate numbers are simply based on the numbers of people receiving UI checks. Once they run out of their number of weeks, they may still be out of work and looking, but they’re no longer counted. They’re only tracked as long as they are getting checks. That’s why people make estimates about how many are REALLY out of work.

That’s why, with this big batch of people about to run out of their extended UI benefit period, it’s going to make the unemployment numbers look better. People not paying attention will just read the headlines and think those people formerly receiving UI benefits have now found jobs, when really they’ve just run out of their UI eligibility period for checks.

It really shouldn’t be called the unemployment rate – it should be called the unemployment insurance rate….

  155. My 4 R predictions are slowly taken shape under the

panic stricken goals of our suit-less POTUS.

    1. RESTITUTION
    2. RETRIBUTION
    3. REDISTRIBUTION
    4. REVOLUTION

To solve this threat to our Democracy we must.

Impeach Obama and Draft HILLary. It is only way to stop the destruction of this great country of ours
that I gave 4 years of my life and filled me with such a great sense of pride only to see it in a state of panic and helplessnes at the hands and mouth of the new Mafia “Stash Spreader”.

SAw a clipof Hillary on Fox an I must say she never looked more beautiful and ready to finish shattering the glass ceiling. Please run again Girl
It is all there and waiting for you.

  156. Overall, government estimates show we have less people wanting to look for work as the population ages, and that’s bad for Social Security, which depends on workers funding it.

    ===========================

Short term, what’s needed is more payroll tax money — not necessarily more workers. Fewer workers but better paid would be fine. Or, more of the existing workers getting taxed more: ‘fair share’ and all that.

Longer term, what’s needed is for Congress to pay back the money they’ve borrowed from the SS trust fund. It was designed for situations like this: a big generation in prosperous times put a lot of money into SS, which they should now be able to take out for their own retirement. by the time that trust fund runs low, the boomers will have died off, and the smaller generation will be collecting what they themselves put in. (If someone like Hillary gets in and makes the Congress pay back, of course.)

Peggy Noonan writes that Indiana should “save the old guy. He has value.” She also says Washington needs grown ups and “we need mature folk involved in our governance, people for whom not everything is new.”

With respect, Mr. Lugar has no more value. He and his cohorts have given all the value to China.

Richard Lugar has been in Washington since January of 1977. I was one. The federal debt was approximately $650 billion. The federal debt now surpasses $15 trillion. And you know what? The grown ups did it. The grown ups, the mature folks, the adults in the room were the ones who did it. Richard Lugar was complicit in this catastrophic balance sheet. He rarely stood in the way of an increase in debt, an increase in spending, a bridge to nowhere, and a future to bankruptcy.

While Richard Lugar was joining the other grown ups in raiding the treasury for pet projects, Richard Mourdock was first in the private sector, then became Indiana’s State Treasurer. He fought the Obama Administration’s GM bankruptcy. He fought the Obama Administration on Obamacare. He helped Indiana balance its books.

The two men are both adults. Richard Mourdock’s parents are both World War II veterans. Yes, his father and his mother. He knows what sacrifice is like. He knows what hard work is like. And he knows that just as his parents quite literally fought for a better world, he must too.

In Washington, “adult” is the term of art for the men and women who reach across the aisle. They cut deals. They save face. They make government work. In their zeal to make government work, the perverse reverse has happened. We now work for the government. We sustain the leviathan. Our children’s children’s children will pay off the debt Richard Lugar helped incur.

I’d prefer it if we stopped sending his ilk to Washington to keep incurring debts for my children and grand children in the name of being grown up.

  159. wbboei: “mainstream media… descent into madness… perverse incentives, and no constraints”

    ============

Um. That’s a little too woo-woo for me. I expect there were incentives, for the CORPORATE press to attack any honest candidate who might shake things up, threaten crony capitalism: Gore, Palin, Hillary, probably Goldwater. Maybe the media, like us, see an Obama defeat as a step toward getting the Democratic party back to HIllary’s values, ie anti-corporate. So the woo-woo racial madness is secondary, a weapon for the rational (tho evil) incentive of keeping Hillary out.

That may be true but Sarkozy is right about the French left being so woolly-headed and multi-cultural that they were coddling and even fostering the rise of a threatening French Muslim fundamentalism that menaced secular, republican values.
    ********************************

Woolly headed? Hey, watch your language. 🙂 🙂 🙂

  161. tdo: ‘perverse incentives’ of the corporate press? What is the corporate press? Business Week?

Isn’t it just a matter of printing or saying whatever it takes to draw the biggest crowd and make the biggest bucks?

If so, the public bears some responsibility for swallowing the mass media bullshit.

On this road to finding ‘whatever it takes’, the essential thing is that there are ‘no constraints’. That is, I can say, or refrain from saying, anything I want to whomever I want whenever I want. When it comes to freedom of expression, no rules apply to me because I’m American and we have our precious freedoms.

“No constraints” crept into mainstream journalism because that’s the way Americans like it, so that’s the road to the big bucks.

….Well, guess what, OFA chief Jim Messina dent out a memo about how to prepare for a caucus and stressed PHOTO ID IS REQUIRED!….

But that is different! How can they control the caucus if they cannot control who gets in the room. The 2008 Texas caucuses were packed with people not from the voting precinct and out-of-staters. Other states had caucus fraud too. Now that they are in power they want ID whereas before they overran them with illegal attendees, made sure the Democratic party in those states would not complain or bring a cause of action for fraud, and rigged it. Now they do not want the same tactics used against them. The anti-ID rhetoric is falling on deaf ears. Messina is a hypocrite. All vote rigging belongs to him.

RICHMOND, Va. (CBSDC/AP) — A woman dressed in a black burka was removed during President Obama’s inaugural re-election campaign stop at Virginia Commonwealth University Saturday. According to a White House pool report, photographers observed the woman being escorted out of the gym by Richmond police and other security officials. The woman appeared to be wearing dark clothing and U.S. military pins and was carrying a book. She cooperated with police, according to the report. CBSDC obtained video of the incident from VCU journalism instructor Vivian Medina-Messner. In the video, you can hear the woman shouting while being escorted out of the building by police.

Dictator Obama Issues New Threat to Supreme Court over ObamaCare

In his latest display of his full USA federal government dictatorship over both the American people and the former co-branches of government, Dictator Obama is warning the Supreme Court to either rule in his favor or face severe consequences.

Fox News’ Martha McCallum advised Thursday that the Obama Administration has been quietly sending missives to the Supreme Court threatening that if it doesn’t rule in his favor on ObamaCare, Medicare will face disruption and “chaos.” Therefore, if SCOTUS rules in favor of the US Constitution, Obama & Co will begin its campaign to either destroy Medicare or make those on it suffer greatly. The Obama syndicate is said to be threatening to hold off Medicare payments to doctors and hospitals if SCOTUS does not comply with Obama’s demands and submit to him.

As an additional example of Obama’s illegal and (I believe) highly treasonous behaviors, on 1 May and 2 May Obama issued two additional unconstitutional and illegal Executive Orders. The first E.O., issued 1 May 2012, makes the USA subject to “international regulations” as opposed to looking to and following the US Constitution. Also, with this new E.O., the US FDA will now be able to be bypassed by International committees—thus, replacing the FDA with any international group which may be chosen. In essence, Obama is quickly eliminating US Sovereignty and selling the USA to the international “community.”

The second E.O. issued in 2 days was signed by Obama on 2 May 2012. This E.O. instructs the USA to bow to international regulations instead of the US Constitution and Businessweek reports: “Obama’s order provides a framework to organize scattered efforts to promote international regulatory cooperation, the chamber’s top global regulatory official said today.

“Today’s executive order marks a paradigm shift for U.S. regulators by directing them to take the international implications of their work into account in a consistent and comprehensive way,” Sean Heather, vice president of the chamber’s Center for Global Regulatory Cooperation, said in an e-mailed statement.” This also brings the USA closer to becoming a “North American Union” and—also—eliminating its sovereignty—in toto.

  168. Another convenient disappearance of a key witness, this time the guy who claims he saw Breitbart collapse.

    Jerome Corsi:

“Now a witness to Breitbart’s death vanishes”

“A private investigator has been unable to find the only eyewitness to the sudden death of media innovator and conservative activist Andrew Breitbart.

The apparent disappearance of Christopher Lasseter, who says he saw Breitbart drop to the sidewalk in front of a restaurant, adds to the mystery surrounding Breitbart’s March 1 death.

On March 1, Crime File News reported Lasseter was walking his dog in Brentwood, Calif., when he saw Breitbart cross the street from the Brentwood Restaurant.

Breitbart was walking without apparent distress when he stepped on the curb “and fell like a sack of potatoes,” Lasseter said.

He noted that Breitbart’s skin color was bright red, which is not typically associated with heart attack victims.

Paul Huebl, who writes for CrimeFileNews.com, reported April 22 that he interviewed Lasseter and added the detail that the witness was disturbed by Breitbart’s color.

As a former Army medical corpsman, Lasseter knew that most heart attack victims turned blue.”

Scytl is a global company which actually Counts the electronic votes….. “George Soros” owns this Company (or he owns a good portion of this company)

    Obama ensures his fraudulent re-election….
a Soros-owned Spanish company will count the ballots !

Here’s another of those quiet, subtle, but very dangerous little stories that has somehow slipped past all the mainstream media outlets.

The United States of America has a brand new private “VOTE COUNTING” company that the Obama administration has personally handpicked.

Scytl is the name of the Spanish Company owned by “George Soros”!!

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are screwed if this happens.

wbboei: “mainstream media… descent into madness… perverse incentives, and no constraints”

    ============

    ————-
Well Turndown–re-read the sentence you quoted. Notice the operative word, i.e. perverse. The incentives you cite are exactly that, i.e. perverse. Perhaps you meant the prior words, i.e. descent into madness. I am not sure on what woo-woo means, except it is a damned good term for the delusional nonsense which the radical left is famous for. I see from your comment that it is not a moral absolute, but manifests itself by degree. In this case, the madness consists of a Faustian Pact to sell their soul in exchange for access and celebrity. Faust escaped the hand of fate though some very fancy footwork. Being German even the Devil could not trust him. The media will not escape its fate. They are too far dug in.

This goes to a larger phenomenon however. Once upon a time there was a Rockford Files episode starring Bogie’s wife and Hillary’s friend Lauren Bacall. I like her but she is an acquired taste. In that episode, Rockford bumps into a bar tender who presumes to handicap a social event featuring the elites–and damned if he is not exactly right. He categorizes them in three groups–lions (who are the movers and shakers, resting on their laurels much of the time), tigers (up and coming power players, who seek to take their rightful place beside the lions, until they get swatted down by a senior lion), and the monkeys (who are mainly there for entertainment). When mainstream media mix and mingle in this crowd, they are the monkeys unless they happen to be Ben Bradley who has ingratiated himself to power for so long that he has merged into that perona, along with the great horizontal he is married to–Mayflower Sally, who has all the attributes of Marie Antoinette. More than most people, the lions are stuck on themselves–self centered to a fault, moral cowards, the world revolves around them, and they view the American People as nothing more than peasants. The interesting thing about these people–if they have had money for awhile, is they are very smooth–come and see me anytime you are in town–yea sure, but the truth is try as you might, you will never get access. Hillary’s friend Professor Reardon at USC wrote a couple books on how mere mortals can penetrate the inner circle–something Albert Speer could never do, even though he had Hitler’s ear. The other thing about these people is when they are interested in someone, they act reserved by often resort to stalking behavior. You see this in a social setting but no less in a business setting. They proceed by indirection. I have no use for these people. And the most depressing part of the story is the Microsoft millionaires in my town are new money and supposedly immune from this disease, but damn it to hell if they don’t manifest these same patterns of behavior. Oh sure, call me anytime–mi casa es su case–if you can get past the iron gate and the security guards. It is depressing to see that as a specie human beings have not evolved that far past our simeon ancestors. Perhaps that is why one of my heroes, who won the Nobel Prize for physics, and on is death bed managed to solve a math problem nobody could, told the Nobel Committee I cannot prevent you from giving me the prize, but I refuse to attend the ceremony/

  171. A sublime expression–“gone native”. It evokes images of an empire in decline, and A Passage To India. For such a young whippersnapper, Eric is pretty astute–even if he is a CNN habituae. Down with Dirty Dick Lugar.

    Next Stop: Utah

Indiana Republicans go to the polls tomorrow to decide whether to re-nominate 80-year-old 36-year Senate veteran Richard Lugar or to pick instead State Treasurer Richard Mourdock, running as the conservative alternative. In the usual course of events, my advice for activists and pundits alike in these races is to not forget that every race is unique, based on the individual candidates, the state or district, and the issue environment of the day. Not every state is Utah or Rhode Island; not every conservative is Marco Rubio or Christine O’Donnell; not every moderate is Chris Christie or Jim Jeffords. Often (but not always), the better candidate wins, whether or not that candidate is the most conservative, the most Establishment-backed, or considered the most ‘electable’ by pundits and political pros.

That being said, the conditions of 2012 – specifically, the now-certain nomination of Mitt Romney as the Republican candidate for president – call for conservatives to take a harder line than ever in supporting Operation Counterweight (William Jacobson’s term), in particular to seek in Senate races what David Freddoso has called “an un-bossable Senate.” Party insiders expect conservatives, Tea Party-style outsiders and single-issue social conservatives to show up to vote anyway for a party whose leader is a man many of us distrust on nearly every issue. Politics, they remind us, is compromise. And that’s precisely my point: it is exactly because one side of the party got Romney that the other can less afford to swallow Romney-like figures in the Senate. That doesn’t mean backing the most conservative candidate in every single race without considering any other factor – but it does mean giving more than usual preference to the more conservative and/or less establishment option in Senate races. It’s not about demanding absolute party purity – it’s about recognizing that Romney has sopped up most of our tolerance for impurity already. If you want a Senate that will hold Romney’s feet to the fire, you have to start by replacing men like Dick Lugar and, in Utah, 78-year old Orrin Hatch.

Republican voters have a tremendous opportunity to write on a clean slate in 2012′s Senate races. Out of 33 Senate races, only 7 feature a Republican incumbent, and only three of those have been in office for a full term: Bob Corker of Tennessee (running for his second term, having been first elected in 2006), Lugar, and Hatch, who like Lugar was first elected in 1976 on the coattails of Gerald Ford (who carried both their states that year against Jimmy Carter).

Considered solely from the vantage point of partisan loyalty, you might regard Lugar as a good Republican, and Hatch an excellent one. And indeed, Lugar came to Washington in the 70s as very much a mainstream Republican, not significantly less conservative within the context of his times than Mourdock, and Hatch arrived as a movement conservative, much like his current opponent, State Senator Dan Liljenquist. But 36 years in the Senate will make all but the hardiest souls go native. Indeed, in Hatch’s case that was his campaign theme in 1976, running against three-term Democratic incumbent Frank Moss: “What do you call a Senator who’s served in office for 18 years?” “You call him home.” Even if you think these men have done more good than harm in the Senate, it is time to replace them with younger, better alternatives.

As I’ve noted before, besides the various ideological and cultural divides within the GOP, a core dividing line is over a sense of urgency to contain the runaway growth of federal spending and the reach of the federal government. It is difficult to picture Lugar and Hatch, as a pair of courtly octogenarians, having the necessary energy not only to seek what is apt to be a difficult partisan confrontation over these issues, but to put pressure on a president from their own party. And while Utah voters will surely be excited to go to the polls for Romney, conservative voters in other states like Indiana will need more encouragement – not yet another message that the establishment has shut them out. That’s good news in Ohio, where a fresh face (State Treasurer Josh Mandel) is on the ballot facing accused wife-beater Sherrod Brown; it may be more difficult to manage in some other races. And building a critical mass of such candidates (Mandel, Liljenquist, Mourdock, Ted Cruz in Texas, Jeff Flake in Arizona, Don Stenberg in Nebraska, Mark Neumann in Wisconsin, possibly a few others who haven’t proven themselves just yet) will make it easier to convince conservatives nationwide that even with Romney at the top, and even with some Senate races where we are resigned to moderates (Dean Heller, Scott Brown, Linda Lingle) or establishment-minded conservatives (George Allen), the party has not completely lost touch with the lessons of its victories in 2010.

In the presidential race, we go to war with the nominee we have. And we should unite behind him, because he’s the only thing standing between us and another term of Obama. But this is not Mitt Romney’s party, it’s ours. We deserve a Senate that will stand up to both Romney and Obama. That’s why it’s time for voters to give Lugar and Hatch the gold watch after 36 years in the Senate, and try something new.

  172. Hey, when is the Left, along with whom I screamed and yelled and quoted the constitution and railed about Bush trampling our civil liberties, going to raise a huge stink about THIS? I won’t hold my breath. Evidently, Unitary Executives are fine, so long as they are Democrats.

The public is generally unaware of how essential nominally classified information is to coverage of diplomatic and strategic news. As Steven Aftergood, director of the Federation of American Scientists’ government secrecy project, put it: “The administration’s aggressive pursuit of leaks represents a challenge to the practice of national security reporting, which depends on the availability of unauthorized sources if it is to produce something more than ‘authorized’ news.”

What’s behind the administration’s fervor isn’t clear, but the news media have largely rolled over and yawned. A big reason is that prosecutors aren’t hassling reporters as they once did. Thanks to the post-9/11 explosion in government intercepts, electronic surveillance, and data capture of all imaginable kinds — the NSA is estimated to have intercepted 15-20 trillion communications in the past decade — the secrecy police have vast new ways to identify leakers.

So they no longer have to force journalists to expose confidential sources. As a national security representative told Lucy Dalglish, director of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, “We’re not going to subpoena reporters in the future. We don’t need to. We know who you’re talking to.”

Do you think the MR camp is aware of this?
    ___________________

Not only MR but the entire Republican Party has to be aware of it.. They are seasoned players in the art of “Impeachment” for them to allow this to happen means they are “all for it”.

Unless at the eleventh hour, Obama is Impeached for Treason, Subversive activities and High Crimes that MEET the threshold for removal from the O/O before the election which would put Biden in the drivers seat and he loses to Romney.

Romney is the closest thing to Obama. There is no dispute about the similarities of their policies except to those wearing rose colored glasses.

Then the Republicans are at liberty to keep/delete or amend Obama’s signing statements. I believe the R’s do not want to give up our sovereignty and they actually want the US under their control but are more than happy to allow subjugation of the citizenry fitting into their paradigm of what America should look like. Remember Bush2s statement..at his Correspondents Dinner.. “Theres the Haves and the Have Nots… and my Base, the Have Mores-”

Republicans want to eliminate the Middle Class more than the Democrats. They’ve wished it since the 80’s when Regan then BushI was in office.

Clinton’s election ruined their plans to do exactly what Obama is doing now, destroying the economy and the Middle Class. However, the NeoCons, I don’t believe, have any intention of turning our country’s sovereignty over to an international leadership subject to an International Court disbanding our own SC and the current court system, at least not right away.

Oh, they believe in a Global economy alright..they want to make money under their own rules but giving our sovereignty over to a global union- I don’t think so..

It is what it is- the lesser of two evils… Obama or Romney..

I think Obama is gearing up for any scenario the R’s might throw at him. If he suspects Impeachment is inevitable, he will declare Marshall Law suspending all elections indefinitely but not before as the WHI and the Canadian Insider mention, OWS insures the entire country is in flames and chaos ending up with UN peacekeepers on every state line and airport making travel outside your own state almost impossible.

  174. Great youtube from Paul Ryan. You know, the horrible evil “Social Darwinist” who wants to DRASTICALLY SLASH Medicaid by only increasing spending by 123% over the next ten years, as opposed to the 125% already cooked in the books.

Because see, the reason why the Dems hate this man with a white hot passion is not because he is actually drastically cutting Medicaid (he’s not), but because he wants to return a lot of control over how Medicaid is implemented to the States. They fear him because he is a big proponent of localized control rather than massive centralized federal control. And the Statists want the CONTROL a lot more than they want to help the poor. That’s the real reason they hate him and must destroy him.

  175. moon, I have long suspected that any “libertarian” candidate would pull a lot more votes from Obama than he would from Romney. The conventional wisdom that a libertarian third party would hurt the R’s more is bullshit. Glad to see some polling that confirms my suspicion.

  176. Moon, Mitt also leads with white women by 17 points in that poll. Guess all that “war on women” crap is falling on skeptical ears.

  177. Should they be more careful.?

Civil rights lawyers told The Daily Caller that President Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign managers may have violated employment law by hiring an overwhelmingly whithis e office staff for campaign headquarters in Chicago.

That skewed workforce is starkly visible in an April photo released by Obama’s Chicago office, which shows roughly 100 of the office’s staff.

Only two of the people in the photo, far in the back, are clearly African-American, far below their 13 percent of the national population, and their 33-percent representation in Chicago.

Edwards donor says he told Obama camp about affair
By MICHAEL BIESECKER, Associated Press – 10 minutes ago
GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — A onetime donor to John Edwards testified Tuesday that he warned the campaign of President Barack Obama in 2008 to look closely at rumors about the former North Carolina senator’s infidelity before it considered offering him any position in the administration. Chapel Hill developer Tim Toben said from the witness stand at Edwards’ campaign finance corruption trial that he was astonished when Edwards told him he still had lofty political aspirations over dinner in June of 2008. By then, Edwards’ presidential bid had unraveled and affair rumors were surfacing….

Isn’t it just a matter of printing or saying whatever it takes to draw the biggest crowd and make the biggest bucks?

If so, the public bears some responsibility for swallowing the mass media bullshit.

    ==============

Most media operations are now incorporated and into money, sfaik.

As for drawing the biggest crowd, isn’t Fox getting better ratings than the supposedly ‘liberal media’? So different sub-groups of the public are supporting different kinds of bullshit. (And do Saudi’s reallly own Fox? If so, apparently for them oil is thicker than religion.)

  186. In new biography, Obama asks: Am I an American? | Byron York
…Next month the beginnings of an Obama biography will be published, by former Washington Post reporter David Maraniss. Readers wanting to learn about Obama’s entire life will be disappointed to discover that Maraniss stops when Obama is age 27, as he finishes work as a community organizer in Chicago and heads to Harvard Law School. Obama’s law school years, his practice of law in Chicago, his campaigns and career as an Illinois state senator, U.S. senator, presidential candidate — none of that will be covered. snip Obama had a lot of Pakistani friends; Maraniss writes that if Obama and his girlfriend socialized as a couple, “it was almost always with the Pakistanis.” Obama appeared to identify with his friends as fellow non-Americans. snip In the end, as the Maraniss excerpt has it, Obama chose to become an American in part because that’s what he needed to be to accomplish his goals. The story of what he did after that momentous decision will, unfortunately, have to wait for another biography.
    http://campaign2012.washingtonexaminer.com/article/new-biography-obama-asks-am-i-american/526196

So, he’s American because he needed to be American. Well, early this morning a bumper-sticker expression flashed through my mind, and I wrote it out before it was forgotten. It fits:
His hope? False. His change? unAmerican

  187. How did i miss this?

After years of obvious speculation (and the fact that we saw the pics of her all booed up with ex-girlfriend personal trainer Jeanette Jenkins on a yacht with Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz last year), actress/rapper/singer and producer Queen Latifah has finally said what we’ve all known for years – that she is in fact a lesbian.

Latifah, whose real name is Dana Owens made the announcement quietly when she revealed she would be headlining this year’s annual Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Festival on Saturday, May 19.

  188. It was obvious Edwards was there to stop Hillary taking off big early in early states, Edwards was the foil all along, probably ran wholly by Obama’s campaign, I think the initial “deal” was he was promised the VP job and then Obama’s camp dropped the affair in the media after he was no longer useful and they wanted him massacred in the media.

  189. Edwards was the Iowa foil, if Edwards was not there, its more than likely Hillary would have taken Iowa and Obama knew the only way he got momentum was to get Edwards in there.

agreed- Obama and Edwards played the Good Cop/Bad Cop scenario. Edwards did the attacking while Obama stood by restating Hillary’s responses in his own words with similar meanings. Unbeknown to Hillary, her trusted Team Captain, Patti Solis Doyle, and her hired surrogates were working for Obama using every avenue possible to undermine Hillary’s campaign. PSD’s brother, a Chicago selectman, was the conduit for passing Hillary’s plans to the Obama campaign.

  191. moononpluto

This could be fun……Obama would lose a 3 way race with Ron Paul.

Rasmussen : Three way race : Romney 44%, Obama 39%, Ron Paul 13%
    ——-
I wouldn’t be surprised, Paul has stolen lots of the youth vote from Barry and is supported more by the young voters then the Repubs.

Ron Paul was even a joke to Fox and the GOP higher ups, Tea folks liked him to a certain extent. He doesn’t split the Republican vote, he hurts Barrycakes.

  192. I just stumbled upon this site, this site nails a lot of what we have been talking about and puts it in pretty good order:…I don’t usually post long articles, but this one is packed full of ‘goodies’

Obama Strategy: Fraud, Lies, Murder, Mayhem

I’m going to take you on a little journey that – even I’m not sure I believe. On Red White and Blue Radio, a renown Hollywood Producer was also on and claimed without hesitation:

    • She heard out of Bill Clinton’s own mouth that they KNEW Obama was not eligible, and,
    • Bill Clinton shut up after his long time friend was murdered as he was about to go public.
    • She was told by Democrat Operatives, that George Soros met with both Obama and Hillary to see if either would be willing to destroy the US economy.

This whole scenario is weird to me. If you are still so clueless that you think Sheriff Joe Arapio’s findings from his 6 month investigation aren’t important (or worse, wrong), then YOU are part of the problem. If I hadn’t downloaded the long form birth certificate myself into Photoshop the day it was released to see it for myself, I would still just be trying to grasp this. But I did and interviewed Bob Cooley who WITNESSED Obama’s Chicago machine’s corruption (stealing votes, fixing cases and getting payoff’s) – I wouldn’t be this open to these new allegations.

What is shocking to me is that I had never heard the grassroots media source on blogtalkradio.com until last week when it was referenced by The Ulsterman Report (UR) and the “Washington and Wall Street Insider” conspiracies it has been covering for some time. (I believe one of the hosts on Freedomizer Radio which UR referenced in their article was on this show, but strange to me I had only just TRIED blogtalkradio a week before.)
If you are already familiar with the ULSTERMAN REPORT please scroll down to HILLARY CLINTON SUPERDELEGATE MURDERED.

    BACKGROUND ON FIRST POLITICAL “Assassination”
For those who have not been following this, UR’s Washington Insider described how long time Democratic Operative Kam Kuwata (who set up the 2008 Denver Democratic convention and ran Hillary’s West Coast campaign) was found inexplicably murdered after he informed some other Democrats of Obama being carried into a room, weird chanting and suddenly emerging as if he was a new man only moments later. (I know – it sounds preposterous but read the COMMENTS in the above linked article and trace the evidence yourself.) Kuwata was Diane Feinstein’s aide and longtime friend. The timeline is much stranger and happens this way:
    • Tony West – an attorney at the law firm defending Barack Obama’s birth certificate matters raises $65 Million for Barack Obama’s election. His sister-in-law Kamala Harris is the District Attorney for San Francisco.
    • Kam Kuwata tells others (likely Sen. Feinstein) of weird Obama stuff he saw at the convention.
    • Obama elected with huge illegal campaign (25% of what he raises) coming through a SINGLE California bank) much from Tony West. Rumors swirl of up to $300 Million in undeclared campaign contributions are not reported or those donors.
    • Feinstein’s aide and Kuwata’s business partner BOTH indicted and sent to prison by soon to be Dem Governor Cuomo of NY.
    • Kuwata works against CA Attorney General Kamala Harris to put in a CA AG who can investigate Obama campaign donations.
    • A few months later highly active Kuwata found 2 weeks dead in his apartment.
    • The same month Tony West is appointed as Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Division reporting to Eric Holder at the Department of (so called) Justice.
    • At Kuwata’s memorial, Feinstein very strangely “scooped” the President with the news of Osama Bin Laden death by 1 hour. Feinstein and intelligence knew of OBL location since January. Some wonder if this was a warning to Obama.
    • DOJ does not investigate Kuwata’s death.
    • A month later, former CA Obama Committee chairwoman embezzles millions in funds from Feinstein’s campaign and others including Obama’s CA funds. This CRITICALLY impairs Feinstein’s reelection hopes.
    • Feinstein charged with ethics violations.
    • Kamala Harris found to be in pocket of public sector unions scuttling initiative on their behalf.
    • Kamala Harris named Co-Chairwoman of the Obama Campaign.
    • CA AG Kamala Harris and the NY AG replacing Gov Cuomo refuse to follow the law on failed mortgages, threatening the FDIC and creating a $25 Billion Mortgage settlement that:
o Gives 70% of the money to government programs
o Penalizes stockholders, brokers who never admitted guilt in due process
o Allows the REAL perpetrators of the mortgage crisis (both public and private) to skate without ANY prosecution.
    (Very good explanation here.)
o It also gives her a slush fund of over $1 Billion to preside over.

    HILLARY CLINTON SUPERDELEGATE MURDERED

I heard claims made by different parties on the show that I KNOW to be factually untrue, so this all has to be taken with caution. [For instance, Bettina claims the only Legislation which Obama sponsored in Illinois was a “National Islam Day.” Obama sponsored 35 bills including a recognition of South Side Islamic center that seems to have died in committee. She is also wildly misinformed on Newt Gingrich’s positions including having been a major player in fighting HillaryCare, ObamaCare, TARP and Cap & Trade. She also claims Santorum voted “almost exclusively” with Pelosi and Reed which is ridiculous even WITH Santorum’s big government votes.]

The only reason PolitiJim is proceeding with this story is because it is FIRST HAND TESTIMONY by Hollywood Agent/Producer Bettina Sofia Viviano on matters she would likely have direct knowledge of, or association with Democratic officials who would. Ms. Viviano was a non-political liberal Democrat who was approached to make the documentary about the irregularities of voter fraud by Barack Obama against Hillary Clinton in the 2008 Democratic Presidential Nominating race. (Forty minutes of WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED can be viewed here. The entire Red, Right & Blue interview at bottom of post with time codes referencing her quotes.)
In the RRB interview, Viviano said her film documented massive systemic corruption by the Obama campaign via:
    • Precinct chairpersons and workers misreporting (or holding) results
    • Voter intimidation and violence
    • Vote destruction and fabrication
Some may remember a Hillary campaign memo complaining of voting irregularities that was not even acknowledged by the mainstream press. From the media you would have thought Obama won in a landslide. But gong into the convention, Obama led Hillary by only 165 delegates out of 4418 (3.7%). Texas has a primary, followed by a caucus the same day where delegates are bound by their earlier voting. Although Hillary actually won the popular vote in Texas by 52% to 48%, for the first time in state history, the caucus results did not match the primary and were wildly skewed toward Obama 56% to 44%. Many precincts NEVER turned in votes. And this happened nationwide. In primary states (more difficult to initiate voter fraud), Clinton consistently won by 2% to 4%. In caucus states where Obama controlled the mechanisms, he won almost 2 to 1, a statistical impossibility.

In her documentary WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED, there are first hand accounts of voter intimidation, vote manipulation, vandalism and violence not just on behalf of Obama, but AGAINST even elderly Clinton voters. The film has direct testimony of a lady who witnessed two young thugs threatening older people coming to a community center if they voted for Hillary. This sounds oddly familiar of the New Black Panther intimidation case which we now know was not an isolated event.

In the documentary, another Hillary supporter who was a SuperDelegate describes a call from a Senator who told her since she voted for Hillary if she ran for political office they would strip all of her position with the Democrat party. There were over 2,000 complaints (including criminal) in Texas alone. In her RRB interview, Viviano describes footage of a young African American delegate who was threatened with murder if he did not change his allegiance to Obama from Hillary. (As far as we know, Rick Santorum’s similar antics against Newt Gingrich did not involve criminal violence, although we were told he did a similar thing in Pennsylvania in 2006.)

Pelosi bribed 28 MULTIPLE super delegates to support Barack Obama with cash gifts up to $250,000. Sixteen (16) of 28 endorsed Obama although their state and district selected Hillary Clinton. Other Obama supporters like James Clyburn followed suit giving money to all but 2 of these 28. Bettina also reported that the interviews done with women from Obama’s home church Trinity United Church of Christ and had to be conducted with anonymity due to their fear of Obama. An interview in the film (from Chicago) admits many tactics are well known to those who live in the Obama Machine areas. You never heard it on ABCBSNBC but past voting fraud by Obama was vicious. Michael Walsh at Breitbart wrote:
For a Chicago pol, whose path to prominence came not via intellectual brilliance or personal charisma but through behind-the-scenes machinations to get opponents thrown off the ballot or have their sealed divorce records made public, “by any means necessary” is not only a tactic, it’s a categorical imperative.

OBAMA ORDERS ASSASINATION OF BILL CLINTON FRIEND?
With this as a backdrop, Bettina Viviano mentioned two different things in her RRB interview. In three completely different places in the interview she said:
    • She heard DIRECTLY out of Bill and Hillary’s mouth that they knew he was not eligible.
    • She was told by the Hillary camp that Bill was going to “out Obama” but he was threatened and backed off.
    • She said that Bill Clinton’s best friend was murdered as a threat.
A short compilation of various clips from the show.

Indeed, Bill Gwaltney who was a very close friend of Hillary and Bill, Chairman of the Arkansas Democratic Party and SuperDelegate for Hillary was killed by a lone gunman in Little Rock. Are these events connected? Hold onto your feathers, for they are about to fly when you see it in the chronology and order I do. Hillary’s campaign became public with the fraud during the Texas primary and caucus on March 4th of 2008. Even California delegates FOR OBAMA noticed irregularities such as an incident where 900 delegate prospects were hacked to 17 party insiders. Clearly the delegate vote was close and it’s clear the Clinton camp was crusin’ for a fight at the convention, August 25-27th in Denver. ON BARACK OBAMA’s alleged birthday of August 4th, 2008, Bill Clinton gave an interview FROM AFRICA and was asked if he was angry. BILL CLINTON BROUGHT UP OBAMA AND ELEGIBILITY:

I think everybody’s got a right to run for president if he qualifies under the Constitution, and I would be the last person to ever begrudge anybody their ambition, and he was a superbly gifted candidate in this election, and had a great operation. They thought this thing through, and it’s a contact sport…The only thing I ever got mad about was people in your kind of work pretending that she started this stuff. (PoliticsUSA) In case you missed it, at the 0:38 mark in talking about why he loves coming to Africa, Clinton talks of how he loves the beauty and people of Africa and :
I like seeing people whose lives are SAVED and CHANGED.
I think it proves that CHANGE is possible

The smirk that he says on the word “change,” the second word in Obama’s campaign theme, is UNDENIABLE. Remember, this is the word parsers of all word parsers. IS isn’t always IS to him. Is it possible that Clinton arranged for the African interview on Obama’s birthday when rumors of his Kenyan birth were swirling, to actually make a THREAT to Obama that Barack’s political life could be SAVED and CHANGED if he offered Hillary the Veep slot? Or even step aside?

After asking Clinton about the “racist” remarks he made during the campaign, ABC reporter Kate Snow asks AGAIN about eligibility (6:30 mark), which is quite odd since most professional broadcasters wouldn’t repeat the SAME topic after discussing so many others with such a short time of video available. Snow asks, “Do you think he is completely qualified to be President? Because in the campaign there were some things you said…” Clinton: No, I never said he wasn’t qualified. The constitution sets the qualifications to be President. Then the people decide who they think would be the better President. I think we have two choices. I think he should win and I think he will win. Notice, the Slickster NEVER COMES OUT AND SAYS HE IS QUALIFIED. If the Clintons had already made some threat to Obama about getting out or offering the V.P. position to Hillary, is it possible that he is saying, “Obama you have two choices. I hope you (win) make the right one?”

Eight Days later a Target store employee studying computer science at a nearby college, inexplicably became irritable and spray painted a hallway at work being let go. Timothy Dale Johnson went to the offices of Hillary friend and Super Delegate Bill Gwalenty at the Arkansas Democratic Headquarters and asked some questions about volunteering. He poked his head into Gwalenty’s office shooting him fatally. He then walked into the Southern Baptist Convention building waved his gun and left without harming anyone. He was chased by police and shot 6 times dying instantly as he attempted to open a rifle case that seemed locked. Police closed the investigation finding no motive, no connection to Gwalenty and the police were cleared for shooting Timothy Johnson. The family is baffled.
The following Monday Bill Clinton gave an energy summit speech widely covered because he EQUALLY PRAISED Obama and McCain.
One Day later Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones of Cleveland, another super delegate, and one of Hillary Clinton’s most prominent black supporters, was found in her car unconscious, and died of a brain hemorrhage after her car went out of control. Police have no explanation why. Tubbs had been extremely vocal about the pressure put upon her to support Barack Obama and fiercely resisted even calling out the practice.

This certainly lends credence to the two camps “yelling and screaming” at each other during the convention according to her insiders. Politico mentioned the tension, though none of these specific items. As most conservatives know Bill Clinton is no stranger to “coincidental deaths” including Vince Foster, Ron Brown, and scores more. No other President had this many people he was connected to die, especially those that had Chinese contribution secrets (Huang) or past financial scandals (McDougal). But it WOULD explain why Hillary “gave up” when it shocked most of us.
Especially if they knew Barack Obama had his own “body count.”

    OTHER ASSASSINATIONS AND STRANGE DEATHS
Buried by the mainstream media are the stories from Obama’s murdered gay lovers at Jeremiah Wright’s church within WEEKS of each other – execution style. (If you still don’t know or believe Obama is bi-sexual you might want to watch the video testimony of Larry Sinclair) Also inexplicable are the deaths of Seal Team Six who NEVER would fly an entire company in one helicopter alone.
Don’t get me started on Fast & Furious and the death of his Grandmother FROM CANCER 2 days before the general election who was, according to Barack Obama “sharp as a tack,” except for osteoporosis only 2 months earlier. (Anyone want to guess why he traveled all the way back to Hawaii in the middle of a campaign because she was “suddenly ill” but only did so FOR ONE HOUR and without Michelle and the kids?)

Maybe SOME legislators will begin to understand why we patriots are more than a little nervous with Obama and his administration being given questionable power in any form. OTHER NOTEABLE BETTINA VIVIANO INTERVIEW ITEMS The WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED film was rushed into production and Bettina’s film partners printed copies to show at the Democrat National Convention in Denver at local theaters. She says only later did she realize it was Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean and the Democratic Party that were the perpetrators. Just as she described on the RRB interview, I found news stories that the DNC PROHIBITED the Hillary delegates from being counted as they had in every previous election. California was completely PASSED OVER and not even called on during the convention following a SECRET VOTE that reporters would not inquire upon. Among other Viviano bombshells:
    • She claims she has obtained a memo from Donna Brazile from 2004 saying they had predetermined Barack Obama to be the candidate for 2008.
    • She says Democrats are planning in 2012 (and have in the past) to drive through skid row and pay the homeless to vote with liquor and booze bribes, as well as getting Alzheimer’s patients to vote.
    • Alice Palmer, (the lady who through Obama’s first political fund raiser at Bill Ayers house) was disqualified with all other challengers from running for her old Senate seat by Barack Obama’s lawyers when he decided he wanted the seat. She became a Hillary supporter. (Links in 2012 Section below.)
    • She claims it was widely known at the time that John McCain was not qualified as a natural born citizen either. Theory Link
    • Claims her Democrat sources told her it was a “fact” that George Soros met with Hillary and Obama. Soros said his agenda was to tear this economy down to the ground. Obama said, “no problem.” Hillary said, “no way.”
PolitiJim Note: Chelsea was married on a George Soros estate with Barack and Michelle present.
    • At IOWA caucus she attended – Ron Paul had 99% of the votes BUT ALL PARTICIPANTS WERE DEMOCRATS.
Viviano and her partners have had offers to help finish and promote the film including Andrew Breitbart, PJTV and others. Her partner in the production however, a Democrat, is too afraid too continue at this point she believes. 2012 Will be WORSE

Bettina mentions that she has seen the Black Panther offices they set up in Houston to prepare for 2012. Bob Cooley, who wrote about many of these techniques in his book WHEN CORRUPTION WAS KING, has said the “$1 Billion” in campaign funds isn’t going to be used for TV ads, it will be to buy off precinct chairmen, pay volunteers to overwhelm the voting systems with fraud (like we saw in the Wisconsin recall where “Mickey Mouse” was allowed), and to pay HACKERS TO change the electronic voting machine systems.
As we wrote in “IS THIS THE OBAMA CRIME PLAN?,” it made absolutely no sense that Obama would doing NOTHING to move himself closer to the “center” (as all good unprincipled Democrats do) before an election. What possible advantage is there in killing 100,000 jobs with the Keystone Pipeline? If Obama thinks he can get away with this nationally, against the “Body Count” Clintons – you can believe that this election season will be worse than one overseen by Hugo Chavez as Secretary of State.

And it explains WHY he feels no need to do REAL things that create jobs and make him popular. He simply doesn’t think he’ll need it.
WHAT CAN YOU DO? As Alan Vera of TrueTheVote said in his stirring speech at the Texas Straw Poll, we need bodies. Bodies who simply give a little time to observe voting and keep the cockroaches from operating in the dark.

  193. It’s nice that four years later someone comes along with a good compilation of events connecting the dots but when it was happening in the present tense where were these people when we Hillary supporters needed the help and exposure?

  194. Revised MAP OF HELL: FRANCE is its NEW CENTER!. From a friend who knows France — One little known aspect of Hollande is that he is very sympathetic to Muslims. This fact has been going around in private e-mails in France, but not discussed openly in the media. And, sadly, their blogosphere is probably smaller than what we have in San Diego. Hollande has publicly called for a reconciliation of cultures (i.e., Western and Islamic). His campaign staff was largely Algerian and North African. Anyway, he’s going to encourage the submersion of the French culture and rise of Islam in France.

  195. If he tries that, Hollande will either be assassinated or there will full scale riots in France.

  198. New Media Victory: Obama Loses Three Points Nationally Against Romney

by John Nolte 4 hours ago

On May 2, the Real Clear Politics average of national polls showed Obama with a 3.6 point lead against his presumptive challenger, Mitt Romney. In just a few days, that lead has dropped over three points to less than half a point. Moreover, the last three national polls to come out show Romney in the lead. Today, Rasmussen has the former Massachusetts Governor up by 5, Gallup has him up by 3, and Battleground has him up by 1.

Yes, this is a snapshot and, yes, it’s all within the margin of error, but a trend like this is worth noting and analyzing.

Now that it’s Tuesday, these numbers are taking into account the full effect of Friday’s disappointing job numbers. You also have the bungling of the situation involving Chinese dissident Chen Guangcheng, the boomeranging disaster that was the spiking of the bin Laden football and, most importantly, New Media was right there to amplify these gaffes and run circles around any Old Media attempt to ignore or spin these stories into a positive for Their Precious One.

One cannot overstate how different the narratives about the job numbers and Chen and bin Laden would be without New Media — from blogs to Twitter — engaging, challenging, and exposing Old Media on every front during every minute of every day.

Update: Gallup, Romney 47, Obama 44
Rasmussen: Romney 49, Obama 44 with Likely Voters
    —Ace

Gallup Moves… 47-44. Still registered voters.

Incidentally, Gallup has changed its track again — now it’s a seven day rolling average. So the weekend numbers are always included. On the other hand, there are no huge swings day-to-day.

    Is this something?

The uptick for Romney comes as investor confidence has fallen six points in the wake of last week’s disappointing jobs report. Looking ahead five years, just 44% of Americans believe the nation’s economy will be stronger than it is today. That’s the lowest level of long-term optimism ever measured.

That said, Rasmussen has had Obama and Romney trading leads for 12 days, each taking the lead six times.

A USAToday/Gallup poll of swing states has the race tight.

    Or does it?

The president and the former Massachusetts governor start their head-to-head contest essentially even among registered voters — Obama 47%, Romney 45% — in the dozen battleground states likely to determine the election’s outcome. That’s closer than the lead of 9 percentage points for Obama in the Swing States survey in late March.

Among those surveyed, 60% say a President Romney would do a good or very good job handling the economy over the next four years; 52% say that of Obama. Even among the president’s supporters, four in 10 predict Romney would do a good job. In a direct comparison, Romney edges Obama, 47%-44%, as the one who would do a better job.

    And, in a Politico/GWU poll:

The former Massachusetts governor has opened up a 10-point lead, 48 percent to 38 percent, among independents in a poll conducted Sunday, April 29 through Thursday, May 3 and a 6-point lead among those who describe themselves as “extremely likely” to vote in November. Obama led Romney by 9 points overall in POLITICO’s February’s poll.

Pollsters can goose the Democratic fraction of the sample, but on voting day, is there any chance that Obama will turn out so many more Democrats than Republicans that he can overcome a 10 point gap with independents?

“That pathetic, preening political abortion that now holds the title of President of the United States! What he asks of Israel…for HIS re-election? ” -Wall Street Insider

When President Barack Obama met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu two months ago, both sides put on an outward show of unity, but behind the scenes reports indicated the meeting ended with a petulant Obama unhappy with Netanyahu’s unwillingness to compromise the safety of Israel by agreeing to delay any attempts against Iran until after the American presidential election. Whatever form and substance that came with Barack Obama’s demands of Israel were apparently insulting enough to Israelis to motivate normally opposing political parties to now unite behind the Netanyahu government.

In that context, here is an earlier interview from March of this year with Wall Street Insider that focused in part on that most recent meeting between Obama and Netanyahu – a meeting that clearly had a quite strong impact on the always respectful WSI’s personal views regarding Barack Obama. It should also be noted that this interview took place BEFORE subsequent media reports came out regarding any specific details of this same meeting:
    _________________
WSI: A mistake can be harmless, or unintended. Barack Obama is neither harmless nor unintended. What he is…or most certainly those around him…those who have formed and are now implementing the agenda…it is no unintended error. It is no mistake – but rather far more…far more worse than that.
    UM: Elaborate.
    WSI: Evil. Corruptive all-encompassing evil.
    UM: Barack Obama is evil?
WSI: Certainly the seeming…I don’t wish to have this conversation devolve into the subject matter of…to take a more spiritual course. That may not appeal to a great many of your readers.
UM: Don’t worry about that – you think Barack Obama is evil? Please explain.

WSI: My belief is that what is being attempted…the…reforming if you will of the United States…yes – that is evil. The danger it poses to the country, to the world – yes…evil. Be it ignorance on the part of Barack Obama, or willful neglect…I cannot determine for certain…but he does appear willing to cooperate with those who have long sought to destroy this country…not so much a physical destruction mind you…but rather the…spiritual destruction of America. A kind of…cancer that will eat away at its internals leaving nothing but…an empty shell of what it once was.
    *********************************************************************.
WSI: You know of course of the meeting between the prime minister and the president?
    UM: Yes – of course.
    **************************************************
UM: So the meeting did not go well?
WSI: Obama revealed himself to us…in full. While it was suspected…certainly we feared the possibility…but to have it so openly confirmed was…it was very unsettling to people who, shall we say…don’t unsettle easily.

WSI: I will simply say this – and someday this information will get out…I likely will be long dead when it does…but the truth will be spoken of this someday.
In 2008 the American people voted for a man who has absolutely no regard for human life if that life is an impediment to the agenda. The meeting between himself and the prime minister confirmed that fact. The Israelis are now staring into the face of evil – a selfishness and disregard that is stunning in its scope and singular purpose. A delay was requested that has no basis in saving lives – but rather one that puts so many lives at risk! A delay that is pure political calculation – a calculation whose sole purpose is for but one political candidate – while all others are to be sacrificed if need be! This goes beyond the disrespect and immaturity put on display when they met last…that…you told of that. I fed that information to -name deleted- and you then told of that.
But THIS…what…what Barack Obama asks of Israel now…what is threatened if Israel does not comply…for nothing more than politics? It is…it is Chamberlain all over again. And just as Chamberlain strutted and preened to the world…this Obama does much the same. To not act against evil makes one complicit with that evil…that…he ignores history…or worse yet – he hopes to repeat it!

    UM: Who?

WSI: Obama! The son-of-a-bitch Obama! That pathetic, preening political abortion that now holds the title of President of the United States! What he asks of Israel…for HIS re-election? What kind of human being thinks on such…the dangers…if he thinks the danger is only to Israel…he is putting ALL of us at risk! The entire world! And he doesn’t care. Nothing! Nothing matters but his…the campaign. The money. The legacy. Let me tell you this young man…let me say this of our current “president”. If every man, woman, and child now living in Israel were to be wiped off the face of the earth in order to secure Barack Obama’s re-election…THAT possibility is something the president would qualify as one worth considering! And if he thinks we are to simply allow that…NO. Not this time. NEVER AGAIN. We will fight this kind of evil this time. Victory may elude us…but this time our souls shall remain intact. There are those of us…we who are not simply Jews in name only in America…but the offspring of survival…the living and breathing embodiment of having survived the kind of evil that walked this earth not so long ago…we will not simply stand down and hope the future serves to protect us. NO. This old Jew has some fight in him yet! This old Jew is at war against this evil! Yes, I am tired…bent, fearful, sick, – but I will not simply allow the world of my children and grandchildren and their children and grandchildren to once again be given over to the corruption of appeasement! NO. NOT THIS TIME. The bones of so many in my family were ground under the heals of a modern political evil. Their lives are not forgotten. That lesson was learned. The blessings…such blessing that this country has afforded me – simply because my parents were just quick enough – just a little quicker than others to flee while others remained because they could not fathom that such evil actually existed. Such evil DID exist young man. And that kind of evil now exists AGAIN. It was elected President of the United States in 2008 and hopes to be re-elected again in 2012!
You wish to know something of that meeting between Barack Obama and Benjamin Netanhayu? The prime minister stared into the eyes of our president…and he saw the truth of the man. He understood fully and completely the corruption of his heart.

  202. BOOM! Democrat Breaks Ranks – Supports Investigation Against Eric Holder (WHI RELATED)

by Ulsterman on May 8, 2012 with 3 Comments in News

As promised by a longtime political operative months ago – Democratic Party support for the Republican led efforts to investigate Eric Holder and the Obama Department of Justice would eventually happen. It appears that promise is now (finally) coming to pass…

Indiana Democratic Rep. Joe Donnelly told The Daily Caller on Tuesday that he supports the House oversight committee’s efforts to enforce the congressional subpoena of Attorney General Eric Holder over Operation Fast and Furious.

“One of the duties of Congress is to provide oversight of the Executive Branch,” Donnelly told TheDC. “There has been a serious allegation of federal law enforcement misconduct and we need to get to the bottom of this issue without playing partisan politics.”
Holder has demonstrably failed to comply with the congressional subpoena House oversight committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa served him on Oct. 12, 2011. Holder has failed to comply with all 22 categories of the subpoena that demands he provide documents related to Operation Fast and Furious. With 13 of the categories, Holder has provided no documents whatsoever. When it comes to the other nine subpoena categories, Holder is still far from compliant, as TheDC reported late last week.

Unprecedented: Top DOJ Officials Were Obama Bundlers with Wall Street Ties

by Peter Schweizer & Wynton Hall

Four of the top officials at the Department of Justice were all big money fundraisers for President Obama’s 2008 campaign with strong ties to Wall Street—the very entity the Obama Administration has said must be criminally prosecuted for bringing about the biggest financial crisis in U.S. history.

    • Attorney General Eric Holder: formerly of Covington & Burling law firm, in 2008 Holder himself represented big banks such as UBS and MBNA Bank. Holder was Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign co-chairman and raised $50,000 for the president’s campaign.
    • Associate Attorney General Thomas Perrelli: a managing partner at Jenner and Block law firm, whose clients include Merrill Lynch, Perrelli stepped down from his number-three position at DOJ in March. A former member of Obama’s National Campaign Finance Committee, Perrelli bundled $500,000 in campaign contributions.
    • Deputy Associate Attorney General Karol Mason: Karol Mason of Alston & Bird previously chaired the firm’s public finance group. She also bundled $500,000 for Obama. Holder awarded her a “Distinguished Service Award” for her work at the Department of Justice. Now, after almost three years at the Department of Justice, she has returned to Alston & Bird to work on their real estate finance and capital markets group.
    • Associate Attorney General Tony West: West was a partner at Morrison and Foerster law firm, whose clients include MF Global, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, and Bank of America. West was also co-chairman of Obama’s campaign and, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, “was instrumental in helping the candidate raise an estimated $65 million in California.” Formerly the head of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, West is now number three at the DOJ and bundled $500,000 for the president’s campaign.
Despite Holder and Obama’s “get tough” rhetoric against Wall Street, to date, there has not been a single criminal charge filed by the federal government against any top executive of the elite financial institutions.

In the age of presidential bundling, staffing the Department of Justice’s top brass with big money fundraisers is unprecedented. To be sure, William French Smith shared Ronald Reagan’s legal philosophy and was a close political friend. And Janet Reno shared Bill Clinton’s judicial philosophy. But neither were fundraisers.

The Washington Post Co. reported its first-quarter earnings on Friday, and the news coming outof the newspaper division was mostly grim. The unit lost $22.6 million in the quarter, with revenue down 8% and revenue from print advertising specifically falling 17%.
Meanwhile, the Post just reported one of the biggest circulation drops of any major newspaper with the lucrative Sunday edition selling 5.2% fewer copies and the daily edition skidding almost 10%.

We’re seeing the same with the collapse of CNN’s ratings. Not enough people like or respect Soledad O’Brien, Don Lemon, Anderson Cooper or Piers Morgan any more than they do Wapo.

Bottom line: People on the left and right are sick and tired of being lied to, and in the case of the Washington Post and CNN, the “lie” is this phony, dishonest, and transparent shield of objectivity these outlets hide behind in order to pummel Republicans and push a left-wing agenda.

As more and more Americans move online, they’re finding honest and talented brokers of news, information, and analysis from all ends of the political spectrum. People might not agree with everything they read, but at least they know no one is treating them like a fool and trying to put one over on them.

CNN and the Washington Post and so many other cratering MSM entities either need to go out of business or do the honorable thing in announcing their biases and agenda. Personally, I don’t care which one they choose. Both would be good for America.

Certainly, both CNN and Wapo could choose to be unbiased and do things like, say, pursue Fast and Furious as hard as they did the non-story that Valerie Plame, but I just don’t think the left is capable of being objective. When you’re wrong about absolutely everything, objectivity and truth can only work against you.

The best news, however, is that these dishonest outlets are also losing their impact. New Media isn’t yet able to set the narrative agenda, but we sure can impact, expose, ridicule, deconstruct, and push things into the narrative. The difference between now and 2008 is already startling.

Truth will always win out, and now that the distribution of information is no longer bottlenecked by just a corrupt few, everything is changing for the better.
