Barack Obama’s Butt Ugly Face – Plus: Marco Rubio Joins Jeremiah Wright’s Church?

Two news items today make us mock JournoLister Ben Smith and drug sniffing dog Andrew Sullivan.

Ben Smith’s big Buzzfeed “scoop” today is that Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio has Mormon roots. Rubio was a Mormon at age 8!

When at Politico Ben Smith became obsessed investigating this sweet pink website. Ben Smith did not bother to investigate all the many allegations against Barack Obama – he was too busy investigating us.

While at Politico the world discovered, via leaks, that Ben Smith was on the JournoLister listserve. The JournoListers were not just pundits but also “news reporters”. Ben Smith reported that while on JournoListers he did not find anything worth reporting. But indeed the JournoListers conspired to kill the Jeremiah Wright news story (you remember – “God Damn America”).

Ben Smith did not report there was an coordinated explicit effort by the JournoListers to defend Obama by calling Hillary Clinton supporters “racists”. This race-baiting tactic is already in play for 2012 against Republicans. This is what we wrote at the time of “God Damn America”:

“Ben Smith is either delusional or a liar. He says he never found any “good secrets” at JournoList nor was he troubled by the “groupthink”. He apparently found nothing “germane”. But the fact remains that a coordinated campaign to label Hillary Supporters and any opponent of Barack Obama as “racists” – by the Left wing of the journalism establishment! – is one hellava story – if Ben Smith had reported it at the time of the “bitter and clingy” Pennsylvania primary!

Ben Smith pretends JournoList was a silly collection of Drudge and Limbaugh haters and killers but the story is much more nefarious than the strawman Smith builds then knocks down. We corrected the not functioning link in the Ben Smith article which he claims as some sort of badge of honor for Politico because they were “the first publication to report on the list”. What Ben Smith fails to mention is that that “report on the list” came in 2009 well after the information would have been useful to the Hillary Campaign and the McCain/Palin campaign.”

Recently the Daily Caller exposed the obvious fact that Ben Smith was a sludge dumping operation for pro Obama organizations. Therefore we are not surprised that Ben Smith continues to be fed information by Obama’s campaign and has been called on to take down Marco Rubio or that Smith tries to inject “complications” into the Marco Rubio story.

Since age 13 Marco Rubio has been a Catholic and was “confirmed” at that age as a Catholic. That Rubio attended a Mormon church before he was a teenager hardly seems a story but we appreciate as much information about candidates and potential presidential/vice presidential candidates as possible. But does Ben Smith really think that the 8 year old Marco Rubio attending a Mormon church is really a problem for Rubio who has been a Catholic since age 13?

Betcha if Marco Rubio was in a church wherein “God Damn America” resounded from the pulpit on the Sunday after 9/11 the JournoListers would be in a frenzy to denounce those America haters.

To be fair to the JournoListers and Ben Smith in particular, they are the crew who thought that Obama living in Indonesia at age 10 was foreign policy experience. So maybe Ben Smith is not just being a running dog for the Obama campaign but instead really thinks that 8 year old Marco Rubio is The Omen that must be destroyed.

Speaking of dogs, let’s recall Andrew Sullivan sucking off Barack Obama. For those that still want to believe in the tin plate calf Obama, the promises Barack Obama made in 2007/2008 and the case made for his election by drug sniffing dogs like Andrew Sullivan, are the best way to demonstrate what an utter failure Obama is. This was the case Sullivan made for electing Barack Obama:

“At its best, the Obama candidacy is about ending a war—not so much the war in Iraq, which now has a momentum that will propel the occupation into the next decade—but the war within America that has prevailed since Vietnam and that shows dangerous signs of intensifying, a nonviolent civil war that has crippled America at the very time the world needs it most. It is a war about war—and about culture and about religion and about race. And in that war, Obama—and Obama alone—offers the possibility of a truce.”

By Sullivan’s and Obama’s own measure we can calculate the miserable failure that is Obama. There is no truce. There is only more war about culture, religion and race. Hey Andrew, we were right and you are still wrong.

And that face? That butt ugly face? Let’s quote some more from drug sniffing dog Andrew Sullivan as he masturbates to pictures of B.O.:

“What does he offer? First and foremost: his face. Think of it as the most effective potential re-branding of the United States since Reagan. Such a re-branding is not trivial—it’s central to an effective war strategy. The war on Islamist terror, after all, is two-pronged: a function of both hard power and soft power. We have seen the potential of hard power in removing the Taliban and Saddam Hussein. We have also seen its inherent weaknesses in Iraq, and its profound limitations in winning a long war against radical Islam. The next president has to create a sophisticated and supple blend of soft and hard power to isolate the enemy, to fight where necessary, but also to create an ideological template that works to the West’s advantage over the long haul. There is simply no other candidate with the potential of Obama to do this. Which is where his face comes in.

Consider this hypothetical. It’s November 2008. A young Pakistani Muslim is watching television and sees that this man—Barack Hussein Obama—is the new face of America. In one simple image, America’s soft power has been ratcheted up not a notch, but a logarithm. A brown-skinned man whose father was an African, who grew up in Indonesia and Hawaii, who attended a majority-Muslim school as a boy, is now the alleged enemy. If you wanted the crudest but most effective weapon against the demonization of America that fuels Islamist ideology, Obama’s face gets close. It proves them wrong about what America is in ways no words can.

Yup, according to Andrew Sullivan it was to be Barack Obama’s “face” that would make “them” love “us”. So how does that promise hold up? How are those young Muslim’s reacting to the “brown-skinned man whose father was an African, who grew up in Indonesia and Hawaii, who attended a majority-Muslim school as a boy”? Do they love us now? Do they really really love us?

As if. Young Muslims are burning Barack Obama in effigy.

The “young Muslims” are not exactly enchanted with Obama’s face. Fact is those “young Muslims” are burning in effigy “Black Dog Obama“. It turns out “young Muslims” don’t admire Obama’s face but rather believe Obama’s face is butt ugly.

Obama’s response to being called “Black Dog Obama” and the killing of two Americans? “Obama Apologizes For Koran Burning Incident In Afghanistan.” The “young Muslims” rejected Butt Ugly Obama’s apology.

It appears by the standards set by Barack Obama and Barack Obama fellators Obama is an abject failure. According to the Gallup Poll today, the majority of Americans agree Barack Obama is a failure.

Barack Obama is not the only failure (“Poll: 50% now say Obama doesn’t deserve reelection“). The JournoListers and fellow traveling fellators of Big Media are also losers. They placed their bets on a butt ugly face thinking it was the face of a prince. For all time “the face” argument will be there to show future generations of Americans how corrupt Big Media is and how Barack Obama bamboozled a nation.

If Ben Smith’s Buzzfeed had any integrity it would have included in it’s Marco Rubio at age 8 story the fact that Barack Obama attended a Muslim school at a later age. If Andrew Sullivan had any integrity he would….. Well now we are just being silly. Integrity and “Andrew Sullivan” don’t mix.

I posted this in the last thread about two seconds late. Interesting that this is coming from Ben Smith and Politico…

Obama apologizes for the inadvertent Koran burning this week; now the U.S. trained and protected Afghan Army can apologize for killing two of our soldiers yesterday.

That’s what I said last thread.

Also, anyone else notice BO already [predicting his re(s)election? In a show with a Hispanic audience Bo says he’s still got five years to get immigration policies done.

    http://www.stamfordadvocate.com/news/article/Cops-Father-hit-son-for-not-watching-State-of-3355490.php#ixzz1nER7W1g3

A North Stamford father trying to make his pre-teenaged son listen to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union speech last month was arrested on a warrant Wednesday and accused of striking his son with a coffee mug when the youth would not pay attention.

Mohamed Shohan, 49, of 55 Mather Road, Stamford, was charged with third-degree assault, disorderly conduct and risk of injury to a child. He was released after posting $5,000 bond and will be arraigned on the charges at state Superior Court in Stamford Thursday.

Youth Bureau Sgt. Joseph Kennedy said police were made aware of the assault Jan. 27 when the youth was brought to Stamford Hospital for treatment of an injury to his face. When police interviewed the 11-year-old boy, he told them the two sat down at home to watch the address the day after his father recorded it, Kennedy said.

When the boy kept acting out, the father lost his temper and grabbed a coffee mug his son was holding and hit him in the face with it, causing a bruise to the bridge of his nose, it is alleged.

When interviewed, Shohan could not explain how his son was injured, police said. Police then obtained an arrest warrant for Shohan.

“The father ended up overreacting quite a bit,” Kennedy said.

Yes, Smith is affiliated with MM as admin no doubt is well aware.

    SUMMARY of Earlier Reports:

The Daily Caller, a conservative media outlet founded by former CNN contributor Tucker Carlson, launched a multi-part expose on the liberal media watchdog non-profit MEDIA MATTERS FOR AMERICA, , their links to Democrats on Capitol Hill and their allies in the media and the organization’s mentally unstable management.

The exposes have pulled no punches; reporter’s Alex Pappas and Will Rahn open the series with a damning portrayal of Media Matter’s head David Brock as a paranoid, bipolar scofflaw. Brock is portrayed as obsessive, concerned with imaginary threats to his life from hidden snipers and verbally abusive to employees and at the same time protective of abusive practices that occurred under his watch. Furthermore, Brock may have violated Washington D.C. law by allowing his security detail to carry a concealed pistol – a violation of city law.

The article names the names of high-profile reporters in the Washington D.C. media nexus that Media Matters could feed stories to that implicated conservative Republicans or, their favorite target, Fox News, which would be published nearly verbatim.

Those reporters include the Washington Post’s Greg Sargent (who writes for WaPo’s blog “Plum Line”) and former POLITICO editor and now editor at Buzzfeed Ben Smith.

It was not just reporters who were eagerly repeating the mantras that emanated from Media Matter’s shop – the White House itself was involved. “Anita Dunn [former White House Communications Director] became a regular presence at the office,” Daily Caller quotes an anonymous former employee with Brock’s organization.

Vatican Requests 1,500-Year-Old Bible Held In Turkey

The Vatican has allegedly issued an official request to examine a 1,500-year-old Bible that has been held in Turkey for the past 12 years, the Hurriyet Daily News reports.

The Bible reportedly contains early teachings of Jesus Christ and is written in gold lettering on animal hide in Syriac, a dialect of Aramaic, which was the native tongue of Jesus.

According to a report by National Turk, the Bible was seized from a gang of smugglers in a Mediterranean-area operation. The report states the gang was charged with smuggling antiquities, illegal excavations, and the possession of explosives.

Today’s Zaman reports that the Bible is under high security and that a Turkish daily newspaper, the Star, claims the book could be a copy of the Gospel of Barnabas — a controversial text which Muslims claim is an addition to the original gospels — Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John — that was suppressed.

In it, Jesus is said to have predicted the coming of the Prophet Muhammad.

Due to its value as a cultural and religious artifact, even photocopies of the pages could be worth between 3 and 4 million Turkish Lira, or about 1,703,233 U.S. dollars.

Of course Ann is biased, we all are to some extent, and she is never anyone I would feel commonality with, but if you listen to Rush, Hannity somewhat, Levin, they all seem to hate Romney and I just don’t get it because they supported him against McCain in 2008 and were calling him a conservative.

    Here’s the rest.

As a reminder, here is the Democrats’ strategy for Barack Obama’s re-election:

Step One: Make Romney the nominee

Step Two: Use Occupy & Persecute re-election strategy to decimate Romney in general election

Step Three: Enter Jon Huntsman in the race as a third party candidate to split enough of the Republican vote to squeak Obama to a win

Step Four: Irreversibly transform this country into something unrecognizable

Meanwhile, Republicans are essentially replaying their 2008 strategy — which can be summed up in one word: LOSE.

    It’s really and truly shameful
    _____________

If Romney is the Designated Driver as the GOP nominee vs Obama. Seeing this is the plan laid out by Team Obama- then why wouldn’t we be against his nomination here? Please explain-

  • BASIL99

    Mrs. Smith,
I am simply copying an interesting post from hillbuzz. They indicate Huntsman could be a 3rd party jump-in. I read that post after other info. Do I agree with it entirely? No, but it is interesting. People can arrive at their own conclusions. What most struck me was the idea Huntsman has been tapped by BO to split the repubs.

Is it true? I have no idea. Is it an interesting and possible concept? I would say yes. Does the rest of the hillbuzz analysis ring possible to me? Parts of it. Did I say I agreed with the whole thing? No. Did I ask what everyone else thinks? Yes.
In the interests of clarity, here is my first post.

Toldja So: Jon Huntsman Begins Third Party Presidential Effort (In Exchange for Obama’s Promise to Make Him Secretary of State)
Posted on February 23, 2012 by Kevin DuJan // 2012 GOP Candidates, Jon Huntsman *
I’ve been saying this for some time now: Jon Huntsman has been promised the Secretary of State position in a second Obama administration in exchange for Huntsman splitting the Republican vote enough in the general election for Obama to squeak to victory a la Ross Perot in 1992. Huntsman today is talking up the “time for a third party” garbage that’s a precursor to him definitively launching a third party run in the spring (presuming Willard “Mittens” Romney is the GOP nominee…as Huntsman was specifically chosen to be the third party alternative to Romney).

Oh, and I have no proof “this is the plan laid out by Team Obama.”

It is the plan hillbuzz has concluded the Obama campaign has arrived at. Is it correct? Who the heck knows. Is hillbuzz 100% right? No. Is any blog? No.

(Except for admin who, BTW, thinks MR had a decent evening last night).

I agree. I also thought Newt had a decent night. (as did admin).

    __________

A Rule of thumb is usually if you hear from three different sources the same rumor- wondering if it’s true, it usually is-

My point is… why would anyone here promote a candidate chosen by Team Obama helping Obama WIN? When that candidate is preordained to LOSE?

As I understand it, We also can write in a candidate in the states allowing write-ins as an alternative- if the nominee is in fact Romney. I would never vote for Romney. He’s too well known in these parts as an establishment candidate. They disliked him as governor because of his Romneycare and his policies mirror BO-

Huntsman would peel off more voters from the Dem side than the Repub side. He barely made a dent in the GOP primaries.

Awwwww, come on Mrs. Smith. Am I guilty of not having digested the entire hillbuzz post before copying it? yes. For that, should I get 40 lashes? No.

To clarify – I thought the concept of Huntsman was interesting. Do I think he could be a spoiler for MR? Like I have already said, I do not know. Yet. It had not occurred to me until I read and then reread that post. Is that what hillbuzz thinks? I guess so.

If Huntsman A) gets in the race as a 3rd party candidate and B) I conclude he is the BO “stalking horse” to get MR I would have to consider that information when getting ready to vote in the NY Primary. Several months from now.

Also, I am not promoting anyone. I believe you are. I have reiterated over and over that for me it’s ABO. I have indicated I prefer MR to NG. I have not said I would not support NG should he be the nominee. Nor have I said I would not support Paul or even Santorum.

I posted what one blogger thinks is the strategy of the BO campaign. Do I have any proof it is accurate? No. And neither does anyone else. Do I still think it’s interesting and worthy of additional thought? Yes. Should I jump to any conclusions because I came across the post? NO. Just food for thought.

So, come on, stop with the “for anyone here to promote” line.

my two cents…Newt might be intelligent and have a myriad of “big” ideas…and we can throw in and stipulate that he is a “good” debater and might even, probably even, will “wipe the floor with O in a debate” BUT…Newt Gingrich will Never WIN the general election…that you can take to the bank…

if support for him hinges on him clobbering O so Hillary can step in at the last minute…fine, I am down with that if Hillary jumps in…

but if his supporters are harboring thoughts that he will win against O in a general election…regardless if he clobbers O in the sparce 3 debates over the long general election months…well all i can say is … not going to happen…he will not have enough support…with votes…and majority of votes in states to beat O…bottom line…all his big ideas will mean nada…

I say…great…give him a big place to fight for the nominee in the general election battle…heck, give him a job after the nominee wins…though I doubt he would want it…he cares more about making big bucks…but again, he will never have enough voter support to beat O

Has anyone noted what a huge favor the cheerful one did for all the republican candidates?
We heard all last week that Obama picked a fight with the Catholic Church in order to make contraceptives an issue. In one sentence Newt neutered that stratgy. Let Obama dare to mention contraceptives and all everyone will see is an unbelievably tiny post abortion baby laying on a cold slab alone in a dark room fighting a loosing battle for life.

“Pelosi says: ‘All in favor of the motion to suspend the rules and nominate by acclamation Barack Obama as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, please say ‘Aye.’

“‘Aye!’ the throng of thousands in the Denver convention hall shouts back.

“Pelosi quickly asks, ‘All those opposed, say ‘No.’

“Then, without letting a second go by that could allow a challenge to the acclamation motion, she announces: ‘Two-thirds of the delegates having voted in the affirmative, the motion is adopted. And Pelosi pounded her gavel on the lectern.”
    __________

Unforgettable and deeply etched in my mind- referring to the speed of Pelosi hammering the Gavel when asking for a Nay vote..

Headline from ACE. I have to admit, although I find the site too conservative on a lot of issues for me, I enjoy the headlines and it that is always food for thought. Ace does support MR but many of his posters do not. Jesus, one freak thinks women are to be protected from themselves, ie, little lady needs to stay barefoot and pregnant. None the less here’s a funny headline and the meat of issue.

Actually, I find conservative sites have for the most part been inching closer to the truth about the fraud, Hillary’s stolen election and the fact how much better we would be with Hillary than the monstrous fraud than I ever thought possible.I don’t know what the hell happen 2008, they just didn’t understand WTH they were doing and not doing. Everyone was afraid of being called racist. Not so much anymore…

    gonzo,
    E
That charles blowupdoll is a smarmy nasty egotistical piece of AA garbage who DARED to mock MR’s religious practices,

I think he should be fired just like the guy who lost his job over the basketball player.

BTW, I have been trying to google the special underwear thing coz now I am interested but I can’ find anything.

BTW, hree’s the text of the complaint jim Geraghty sent to the NYT editors.

Dear management of the New York Times,
    I hope you’re proud.

Mr. Blow may attempt to delete that Tweet, but it can, for now, be found here. Of course, this is the Internet. Nothing ever goes away completely.
One of your columnists responds to a comment he does not like, from a Mormon presidential candidate, and responds, “Stick that in your magic underwear.”

(Lest you are unfamiliar with this particular practice of the Mormon faith, see here.)

We just witnessed ESPN firing an employee for using the phrase “chink in the armor” in a headline about the New York Knicks’ Jeremy Lin. While no one could prove a desire to mock Lin’s ethnic heritage, and the employee expressed great regret for what he insisted was an unthinking lapse, it was deemed unacceptable even as an honest mistake.

Regardless of what one thinks of ESPN’s reaction, one is left to marvel at the contrast before us. Would the New York Times find it acceptable if one of their columnists chose to mock Muslim religious practices? Jewish faith practices?

But mocking some religions is okay? Doesn’t run afoul of any standards of the paper?

    Hmm.

admin:If you could clarify a few questions- It would be appreciated, especially about Harold Ickes. Thanks-
    _______________

“He [Berman] also writes with some surprise that a top Clinton aide put party rules over his candidate’s interests at a key moment.”

“Rather than raise hell about the provenance of the document, Harold [Ickes] praises it as providing an excellent record of the history of the early primary legislation,” Berman writes of the decisive DNC meeting.”

“To my utter surprise, he asks that the Rules Committee adopt the document as an exhibit to their proceeding.”
    __________

I have no idea of the language included in the Legislation passed by the Florida Democrats.. Did Ickes hurt or help Hillary when he favored adopting the document as an exhibit to the DNC Meeting? I watched the proceeding LIVE and my inclination at the time was that Ickes was representing Hillary properly and that Fair Reflection was an important toe hold for further exploration down the road before the Dem convention?
    _____________

“As the filing deadline approaches, Governor Rendell issues an emergency proclamation declaring that snow conditions in the state necessitate an extension of the deadline,” Berman writes. “Hillary’s campaign takes advantage of the Governor’s extension to file late, but still fails to file petitions for a number of her delegates. With as much political support as she has, something must be wrong with her organization.”
    ____________

I’m assuming, this is where Patti Solis Doyle’s handywork was to play a part in knee-capping Hillary.. I could be wrong, just guessing here…

    Obama’s Alma Mater:

Harvard to Host Conference Calling for an End to Israel

    9:55 PM on Thursday, February 23, 2012

It is shocking, but perhaps not surprising.

On Saturday and Sunday, March 3 and 4, Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government will host a conference entitled “One State Conference: Israel/Palestine and the One-State Solution.”

The goal of the conference is “to expand the range of academic debate on this issue. Thus, our main goal is to educate ourselves and others about the possible contours of a one-state solution and the challenges that stand in the way of its realization.”

Notice how delicately it is put: “to expand the range…” To be sure, this conference will discuss ending the State of Israel. Nothing more and nothing less. A so-called “one state” solution means the end of Jewish sovereignty in Israel. Harvard knows it. Anybody with a brain knows it. The only question is, how has it come this far?

Caroline Glick argues that the academic elite is now leading the charge of Jew-hatred.

Consider the long list of “professors” who will be speaking at the conference. My sense is that the reason the Holocaust was more successful in killing Jews on a genocidal scale than say the Russian czars’ pogroms is because the Holocaust was fueled from above – from elitist anti-Semitism and elitist xenophobia.

It wasn’t the feudal lords who organized the murder machine. Those lords just let their Cossacks murder couple hundred Jews to get their bloodlust satisfied for the year. Most of the surviving Jews were permitted to pack their suitcases and run away.

The Holocaust was different. It wasn’t the peasant class or their landed gentry lords that instigated the crime. And the Holocaust wasn’t perpetrated principally to satisfy their taste for Jewish blood. In the decades before the Holocaust, an evil wind blew through academia and other elite quarters throughout the Western world. The doctrines of race and eugenics became all the rage of the anointed intellectuals. Even an otherwise liberal thinker like Oliver Wendell Holmes was drawn to the fashionable concept of killing mentally disabled in the name of eugenics. These doctrines gave the German intellectuals the philosophical underpinning for their so-called “anti-Semitism.” That itself was a pseudo-scientific term for regular old Jew hating just like “anti-Zionism” is a progressive, politically correct term for regular old Jew hating today. That is, anti-Semitism was an elitist way of masking intolerance, even genocidal intolerance for Jews and making it socially acceptable to seek our annihilation. And this is the precise function that the term anti-Zionism serves today.

    And here’s Richard Baehr:

University political activity feeds off identifying victim groups and fighting for their cause. The Palestinians are now in the upper tier of such groups. Some students may tune out the venom toward Israel that is routinely directed at them in far more classes than just Middle East studies or modern history. But others will absorb some of the toxin. It is not surprising that the graduates of America’s elite schools are far less sympathetic to Israel than graduates of other universities, and much less so than the rest of America’s adult population. In essence, anti-Zionism has become completely acceptable at the top of the academic ladder, and from there, over time, it has been and will continue to permeate the rest of mainstream society – in leftist churches and synagogues, and the mainstream media in particular. You cannot slander gays, women or Muslims, but Israelis have become fair game.

Ladies and gentlemen, you should be scared. When the nation’s top university hosts a conference dedicated to discussing ways to wipe Israel off the map, well, Boston’s Jews may be next.

About soldiers accidentally burning some Korans..?

Huh? We had written samples of the secret communications that terrorists were using — and discaraded them rather than study them to learn their ‘codes’? Might as well have thrown them in the ocean….

Actually this makes me doubt the whole story.

Those soldiers were simply following orders – and initial reports are already suggesting those copies of the Koran that were destroyed had already been defaced by the captured terrorists who were using them to communicate to each other – sharing the Koran within the prison facility:
A military official said the materials were removed from the detainee center’s library because they had “extremist inscriptions” on them and there was “an appearance that these documents were being used to facilitate extremist communications.

SBC’s new movie spoof dripping in irony portraying US president BO as a dictator is not going over well at all at the Oscars…
    _______________

SACHA BARON COHEN BANNED FROM OSCARS: EXCLUSIVE

The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has pulled actor Sacha Baron Cohen‘s tickets from the 84th Academy Awards. This means he is banned from attending the Oscars even though he is an Academy member and one of the stars from Hugo, Paramount’s 11-nominated movie and Best Picture contender. “Unless they’re assured that nothing entertaining is going to happen on the Red Carpet, the Academy is not admitting Sacha Baron Cohen to the show,” Paramount just told me. The reason is that a proposal reached the Academy for Baron Cohen to strut the Red Carpet in full costume as his title character in the upcoming Paramount comedy The Dictator. UPDATE AT 5:30 PM: Later today, faced with all the bad publicity resulting from its action, the Academy tried to parse what it did when questioned by some media outlets. But the fact is that, this morning, the Academy’s Managing Director Of Membership Kimberly Rouch phoned Paramont’s awards staff to say Baron Cohen’s tickets had been pulled unless he gives the Academy assurances ahead of time promising not to show up on the Red Carpet in costume and not to promote the movie on the Red Carpet. The Academy made it clear that, without those assurances, it would not issue him the tickets. So he’s banned.*

Of course, the next best thing to that publicity stunt is all the media coverage which this ban is going to generate for Baron Cohen’s film. So the Academy has decided to act like dictators about the actor playing The Dictator. Ugh.

Loosen up, people. Frankly, the Academy looks like uptight wankers with this treatment of one of the globe’s funniest comedians. The Academy merely had to say no when that proposal was presented to it. Everyone involved in the ceremony was adamantly against it on the grounds that it makes a mockery of what Hollywood considers its most prestigious event. Instead, the Academy clearly wants another overly long, ridiculously reverential show about movies no one bothered to see where the best thing about the telecast will be the comeback of popular host Billy Crystal at age 63.

UPDATE: Is Academy Blinking On Banning Sacha Baron Cohen From Oscars 2012?

The Dictator is a spoof about the “heroic story of a Middle Eastern dictator who risks his life to ensure that democracy never comes to the country he so lovingly oppressed”. Whether the fact that the 84th Academy Awards will be beamed into 200 countries had anything to do with this ban is unclear. But it is highly unusual for the Academy to pull a member’s tickets. An Oscars spokesperson acknowledged to Deadline yesterday: ”We would hope that every studio knows that this is a bad idea. The Red Carpet is not about stunting.” Oh really? Then why did Trey Parker and Matt Stone of South Park crossdress down the Red Carpet as J-Lo and Gwyneth Paltrow in evening gowns in 2000? Or Ben Stiller appear as an Oscar presenter in full blue Avatar makeup and hair in 2010?

2ND UPDATE 3:45 PM: This afternoon on The Dictator movie’s spoof website for the fictional Middle Eastern country of ‘The Republic Of Wadiya’, an explosive notice was posted. (Obviously by Sacha Baron Cohen as his title character in The Dictator.):

[SBC] “Admiral General Aladeen will deliver a formal response tomorrow morning [Friday] to being banned from The Oscars by the Academy Of Motion Pictures Arts And Zionists.”

The Dictator is a spoof about the “heroic story of a Middle Eastern dictator who risks his life to ensure that democracy never comes to the country he so lovingly oppressed”. Whether the fact that the 84th Academy Awards will be beamed into 200 countries had anything to do with Baron Cohen being banned from the Oscars was unclear. But it now looks like the Jewish comedian is taking on the normally verboten subject of Hollywood and Jews and Muslims. Oy vey!

At least there is one Republican presidential candidate that will stand up for America…the others just whine…
    __________

Gingrich criticizes Quran burning apology by US

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said Thursday a U.S. apology to Afghan authorities for burned Qurans on a military base was “astonishing” and undeserved.

Gingrich lashed out at President Barack Obama for the formal apology after copies of the Muslim holy book were found burned in a garbage pit on a U.S. air field earlier in the week

Obama’s apology was announced Thursday morning. A few hours later, news organizations reported that an Afghan soldier had killed two U.S. troops and wounded others in retaliation for the Quran burning.

Campaigning in Washington state, Gingrich said Afghan President Hamid Karzi owes the U.S. an apology for the shootings.

“There seems to be nothing that radical Islamists can do to get Barack Obama’s attention in a negative way and he is consistently apologizing to people who do not deserve the apology of the president of the United States period,” Gingrich said.

“And, candidly, if Hamid Karzai, the president of Afghanistan, doesn’t feel like apologizing then we should say good bye and good luck, we don’t need to be here risking our lives and wasting our money on somebody who doesn’t care.”

Even before Gingrich’s comments, White House spokesman Jay Carney sought to counter any criticism of the president’s apology.

“It is wholly appropriate, given the sensitivities to this issue, the understandable sensitivities,” Carney told reporters traveling to Miami with the president on Air Force One. “His primary concern as commander in chief is the safety of the American men and women in Afghanistan, of our military and civilian personnel there. And it was absolutely the right thing to do.”

Later Thursday, Gingrich continued his criticism of Obama’s foreign policy during a rally in the town of Coeur d’Alene in northern Idaho, a stop in one of the 10 states that votes on March 6. He was spending Friday in Washington state, which holds caucuses a week from Saturday.

“This president has gone so far at appeasing radical Islamists that he is failing in his duty as commander in chief,” Gingrich said.

Jeb Bush finds Republican debates ‘a little troubling’
Posted by Rachel Weiner at 09:37 AM ET, 02/24/2012…Dallas morning news

A man whom many Republicans hoped would run for president is worried about the GOP primary field.
Former Florida governor Jeb Bush is voicing concern about the GOP field. (Wilfredo Lee – AP)

“I used to be a conservative and I watch these debates and I’m wondering, I don’t think I’ve changed, but it’s a little troubling sometimes when people are appealing to people’s fears and emotion rather than trying to get them to look over the horizon for a broader perspective and that’s kind of where we are,” former Florida governor Jeb Bush said in a Dallas speech Thursday, Fox News reported. “I think it changes when we get to the general election. I hope.”

In an interview with CBS News after the event, Bush added, “I think it’s important for the candidates to recognize they have to appeal to primary voters, and not turn off independent voters that will be part of a winning coalition.”

Asked about his comments, Bush told The Fix, “I am a conservative and I think we should be offering a compelling, optimistic vision and plan to deal with our structural problems as a nation.”

He isn’t the only high-profile Republican to express such unease. Former Mississippi governor Haley Barbour has suggested that the candidates are not focused enough on electability.

[I]n our party it’s an advantage to be more conservative, but I think at the end of the day most Republicans want someone who can beat Barack Obama,” he told ABC News on Wednesday. “I don’t think that any of them has successfully made the case that ‘I am the guy who’s got the best chance to beat Obama.’”

Bush has previously warned Republican candidates to adjust their “tone” on immigration policy specifically. But his comments Thursday suggest a broader concern.

Wednesday’s debate, in which jobs were barely mentioned and wedge issues dominated, may have caused party elites some consternation.

At one point, former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum suggested a bleak view of America’s future due to increasing immorality: “We hear this all time — so you cut spending, limit the government, everything will be fine. No, everything’s not going to be fine.”

He repudiated his vote for ”No Child Left Behind,” a sweeping bipartisan education reform, saying he had to do it for the party.

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney said that Iran would get nuclear weapons if President Obama is re-elected.. Former House speaker Newt Gingrich added, “We live in an age when we have to genuinely worry about nuclear weapons going off in our own cities . . . . I believe this is the most dangerous president on national security grounds in American history.”

Shairah Law in America, looks like it appears in America. This nonsense better get more attention than it has so far.

The video reveals a lot, there was a parade where there were aethists, and there was a “zoombie” pope, and a “zoombie” mohammed. And some muslim attacked the aethiest who was dressed up as the “zoombie” mohammed, then the judge blamed the victim, not the aethist who was attacked. The judge is also a muslim and applied shariah law and blamed the victim. Why the hell is the judge even a judge? We don’t have Shariah Law in this country!!!

This nonsense better get more play on Fox, etc, this is very very disturbing! This muslim judge has to be kicked off the bench, if he wants to apply shairah law, get the hell off the bench and go to some muslim country and be a judge there!

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/per-person-cost-of-federal-high-risk-medical-plan-doubles/2012/02/23/gIQAX3xVWR_print.html

Medical costs for enrollees in the health-care law’s high-risk insurance pools are expected to more than double initial predictions, the Obama administration said Thursday in a report on the new program.

The health-care law set aside $5 billion for a Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan, meant to provide health insurance to those who had been declined coverage by private carriers. Since its launch last summer, nearly 50,000 Americans have enrolled in the program.

The PCIP program will phase out in 2014, when insurers will be required to accept all applicants regardless of their health-care status.

Those who have enrolled in the program are projected to have significantly higher medical costs than the government initially expected. Each participant is expected to average $28,994 in medical costs in 2012, according to the report, more than double what government-contracted actuaries predicted in November 2010. Then, the analysts expected that the program would cost $13,026 per enrollee.

The costs also are significantly higher than those of similar high-risk pools that many states have operated for decades. States spent an average of $12,471 on enrollees in 2008, according to the National Association of State Comprehensive Health Insurance Plans.

You’re welcome Gonzotx, I’m off to call and send this as a tip to drudge also. Hoping that Drudge brings attention to this. This is beyond PC nonsense. Muslims killing muslims is just par for the course. My concern is for the Christians and the other minority religions in the areas of the world that are dominated by Islam. I don’t remember where I read this recently, but the writer indicated that the recent bombs that went off, and the assassinations of government officials in Syria were the work of al-Queda, not the Syrian opposition. These al-Queda attackers supposedly have slipped across the border from Iraq. Also, the Christians in Syria support reform, but are not against Assad per se because they are afraid of who might replace Assad if he were to be deposed.

As Carville said, Obama is a lucky , lucky guy. Any other guy would be down big time, but with the inept lineup the GOP is putting on the field, it really is hard to be optimistic . I thought Ronmey was the guy, but truthfully, as I watch the debates, he just does not have the charisma/toughness to beat Obama. He is no Hillary Clinton. I also feel that , regrettably, Palin has become like Trump and just likes hearing her name. her lack of enthusiasm of Romney has hurt him with the base and has resulted in a protracted primary further weakening his chances. If he gets the nomination, he needs to pick a woman, AA, or hispanic on the ticket to have any chance. At this point, I see Obama winning 42 states!!!!

I don’t get the issue with Rubio…everything I have read and in fact, just heard on the Miami tv station here, says that Rubio was born in Miami to Cuban immigrants and further they just said he is writing a book and he was the one that announced he became a Mormon…and then a few years later became a catholic…

    from Wikipedia…

    Early life

Rubio was born in Miami, Florida,[5] the second son and third child of Mario Rubio (1927–2010)[6] and Oria Garcia (born 1931). His parents were Cubans who had emigrated to the United States in 1956 and were later naturalized as U.S. citizens in 1975.[7]

Rubio was baptized into the Catholic Church as an infant but converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 8, being baptized again.[8] A few years later he and his family returned to Catholicism, with Rubio receiving First Communion, completing confirmation, and later getting married in the church.[1][9] Around 2002, Rubio left Catholicism again and began attending Christ Fellowship (a Southern Baptist church); in 2005, he returned again to the Catholic church, although he continues to attend Christ Fellowship often.[8]

I don’t know about everyone else here but I feel positively sick to my stomach over the media coverage of the koran burnings and the LACK of attention to the killing of 2 American soldiers by an Afghan soldier.

So BO apologizes to Karzai for the Koran burnings and doesn’t seek an apology for the Afghan killing of 2 Americans.

And that’s ALL that’s being covered on the news, including FOX.

FOX even cut to a Washington mosque where the Iman was imploring the fothermuckers with their butts in the air not to overreact – NOT to the killing of Americans – but to the f**king Koran burnings.

Of course, when the military recently burned bibles no one made a fuss.

This is disgusting, revolting, nauseating and beyond all else, imagine how demoralizing it is to U.S. soldiers.

Now all U.S. troops will be “retrained” in proper Koran respect?

I am so angry, so disgusted that I will stop this post now before I really go over the top.

Kudos to Newt for being the only one (who has been reported on) bringing out this teeny double standard. (Palin was the first – she posted it to her facebook page).

WTF kind of country are we living in when the media attention is on the hurt feelings of people who are trying to and succeeding in killing Americans ABOVE and BEYOND the concern for our own people? And now the military of the country the U.S. is fighting for is deliberately seeking out and killing our troops.

And no one says anything about that.

    NG is right.

Gingrich says Obama “surrendered” by apologizing to Afghans
    By
    Sarah Huisenga

Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said President Obama “surrendered” Thursday when he apologized to the Afghan government for the burning of several Qurans at an American military base near Kabul.

Referring to the burning of “radical Islamic material” that included the Qurans, the former House speaker said the situation had been “blown into a huge incident by various fanatics in Afghanistan.” He told a crowd gathered at a campaign rally at the Bing Crosby Theater that while the president had apologized for the burning, he had not called on the Afghan government to issue an apology for the deaths of two NATO soldiers who were killed by a man wearing an Afghan army uniform during increasingly violent protests of the desecration of the Muslim holy book.

“There seems to be nothing that radical Islamists can do to get Barack Obama’s attention in a negative way,” Gingrich said, “and he is consistently apologizing to people who do not deserve the apology of the president of the United States, period.”

Obama sent a letter to Afghan President Hamid Karzai in which he wrote, “I wish to express my deep regret for the reported incident. I extend to you and the Afghan people my sincere apologies,” according to the New York Times, quoting Karzai’s press office. Obama did not release the text of what it called a three-page letter on a “host of issues” between the two countries, “several sentences of which relate to this issue,” the Times reported.

Although Presidential apologies are rare, they are not unheard of.
    ***************************************************
But Gingrich, who consistently accuses Obama of minimizing the threat of radical Islamic terrorists, accused the president of “(refusing) to defend the integrity and the lives of the people who serve under him.”

” If Hamid Karzai, the president of Afghanistan, doesn’t feel like apologizing, then we should say, ‘Goodbye and good luck, we don’t need to be here risking our lives and wasting our money on somebody who doesn’t care.’”

  • tim

Basil what I don’t understand is why is the pentagon apologzing to muslims HERE in America?
Do these people consider themselves muslims first or americans first??
If these muslims love this country, why the hell aren’t they publically trying to calm their fellow muslims over there and helping their fellow American troops over there? Especially after this photo-op of a pentagon official going to the mosque, the Imams could have said something to say, these american troops over there are good people, etc, this was taken way out of context and to calm down to their muslim brethen over there.
Unless of course these people in the mosque consider themselves first and foremost Muslims, not Americans?

  • BASIL99

    How rich.

The man (Geitner) who failed to pay self-employment taxes from 2001-2004 now says the wealthy must pay more taxes for the “privilege” of being an American.

How about everyone who lives in this country pay for the “privilege” of being an American, including the 49.5% who pay no federal taxes.

And how about the 50.5% of us suckers who do pay taxes have more of a say in how our money is being spent?

  • BASIL99

    tim,

It was so disgustingly infuriating I didn’t get all the details. From what I gather, I saw a clip of a general overseas, in Afghanistan, I think, urging restraint on the part of Americans.

No such “restraint requested of the Afghan soldiers – who the Americans are helping – to “restrain” from killing Americans.

The other clip of a Washington mosques featured one Iman urging the buttheads not to overreact to the koran-burnings in Afghanistan.

In the meantime, the taliban is urging all Afghans to kill foreigners and by the number of mobs rushing U.S. bases it seems the Afghans are listening.

Here are a couple of excerpts.

Nato Gen John Allen: “American soldiers do not stand for this” (the koran burning)

“I call on everyone throughout the country – Isaf members and Afghans – to exercise patience and restraint as we continue to gather the facts,” Gen Allen said in a statement.
“Working together with the Afghan leadership is the only way for us to correct this major error and ensure that it never happens again.”

    The Taliban:

“Our brave people must target the military bases of invader forces, their military convoys and their invader bases,” read an emailed Taliban statement released by the insurgency’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid. “They have to kill them (Westerners), beat them and capture them to give them a lesson to never dare desecrate the holy Quran again.”

    American media justification includes this:
Muslims consider the Koran the literal word of God and treat each book with deep reverence.

I consider American soldiers to be the literal representation of this country and each should be treated with respect and consideration.

I am seeing red over this.

Neither Romney nor Santorum will be Formidable in November

    by George Will

Today’s Republican contest has become a binary choice between two similarly miscast candidates. Mitt Romney cannot convince voters that he understands the difference between business and politics, between being a CEO and the president. To bring economic rationality to an underperforming economic entity requires understanding a market segment. To bring confidence to a discouraged nation requires celebrating its history and sketching an inspiring destiny this history has presaged.

Romney is right about the futility of many current policies, but being offended by irrationality is insufficient. Santorum is right to be alarmed by many cultural trends but implies that religion must be the nexus between politics and cultural reform. Romney is not attracting people who want rationality leavened by romance. Santorum is repelling people who want politics unmediated by theology.

Neither Romney nor Santorum looks like a formidable candidate for November.

Basil, there is the audio on youtube of the muslim judge in PA basically berating the aethist who dressed up as a “zoombie mohammed” in a parade for offending Islam, and so another muslim who was watching the parade attacked this aethist man wearing the costume. Instead of berating the muslim who attacked the aethist (and there was another aethist in the parade who dressed as a “zoombie pope”), the muslim judge takes the side of the fellow muslim who attacks the aethist in that parade.

    ____________________________________________________

No, not quite. Newt was never asked about contraceptives, he interjected himself into the discussion. Watch the clip again, you will see Mitt and his stooges in the audience try to shut Newt up. Not that they knew what Newt was going to say, they aren’t smart enough, but just to keep Newt from scoring on anything.

What I think Newt was saying is: 1) there are valid constitutional objections to Obama injecting himself between the Church and God. 2) You are asking us about our principles concerning contraceptives now, why is it you never asked Obama about his support for infantacide while he was in the Illinois Senate?

I said baby last time and child this time, I have been pro choice and women’s rights all my life and didn’t just defend Hillary against the misogyny I also stood up for Sarah in my small way. I believe just because you are pro choice you don’t get to ignore the realities of your choices. An alternative to “exposing the baby til death” is to take a sharp scissors, stick it into the back of the neck and snip the spinal cord. Which is more humane? Got me.

And beyond all that is the fact that I can’t stand Obama and anything I can honestly say about him that demonstrates how repulsive his principles are I will say.

Here are two things I read somewhere today and would like to share.

Obama is now telling people of faith and moral conscience that they must obey him rather than God or pay enormous fines if they remain true to conscience.

Without Barry’s bowing and kissing the rings of these damn leaders when ever we sneeze, it will threaten the frickin’ ‘Nation Building’ and all the deaths it took to get there…and this situation in the future is never going to change for America.

How long will American soldiers over there have to die to keep our thumb in their pie, and how many republican candidates will keep us from doing the same thing again in another oil rich country? Speaking of oil, where is all that oil money to pay the US for the war in Iraq that George W. Promised?

Students Received Credit For Volunteering for Obama Campaign

A counselor at a Nevada high school extended credit to students for volunteering to help elect Obama, in 2008. Recently, the counselor, Loretta Harper has been named a national co-chair of the Obama 2012 campaign—along with Bill Daley, Caroline Kennedy, Eva Longoria and Russ Feingold. Back in November of 2011, Harper was given the All Star of the Week distinction in recognition of her dedication to the Obama campaign.

“The President’s National Co-Chairs will be tremendous assets on the ground as we build the biggest grassroots campaign in history,” said Jim Messina, Obama for America Campaign Manager. “They each share the President’s vision for a future where every American can have a fair shot at success, where hard work pays off and responsibility is rewarded.”

You can view a complete list of National Co-Chairs here.

Harper, 58, is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Nevada State Educators Association. A union member whose state, according to Write On Nevada, has a graduation rate of less than 45%. They have nearly tripled per-student education spending in the past 50 years in producing such paltry results.

Was Romney’s Final Debate Answer the Most Revealing Ever?

In Arizona’s debate, from my perspective, Mitt Romney stumbled and fell at the finish line when the words of his final answer served to reveal the truth in his heart.

Clearly not answering the question asked, moderator John King tried to remind the Governor of the original question. Romney’s response was stunning, “You get to ask the questions you want, I get to give the answers I want.” (Video here)

As an activist, my weapons are my questions. For people seeking information from their government, questions are their most powerful tool. Questions like,

“Where do you find authority for that in the Constitution?”

“Isn’t piling up more debt without seeing the recovery dollars to pay it off throwing good money after bad?” and

“How can the government justify its decision to force Americans to buy a product they don’t want?”

The answers to those questions are, literally, everything!

Yet Governor Romney outed his commitment to offering up only the answers he wants you to hear regardless of how it relates to the question you asked.

I’m not trying to play “Gotcha!” with a GOP Presidential candidate. I’m not twisting his words. How else am I to understand his comments?

Which is troubling. If, as the Governor says, it’s not the questions we ask that matter but the answers he provides, how can we trust anything he says –

yesterday, today or tomorrow? How can we see him as anything but a politician of the “Don’t think for yourself! I’ll tell you what’s important!” variety?

Here’s a question for you, Governor. Why should I vote for a candidate like that?

Right now I’m not favoring any Republican candidate, but I have seen how tee vee is unfairly taking advantage of the logistics at that stadium. It was not a venue which Romney’s team had hoped to fill and failed, but our rabid press is willing to say so, and do it frequently. Here is a brief comment hinting at the reality of the situation; the part about Oh’s boys was next in the article, so I grabbed it too.

…About 1,200 people bought tickets for the event held on the artificial turf of Ford Field because it was the only space big enough on the short notice given. The union protest, organized by Progress Michigan and joined by throngs of United Auto Workers members and supporters, was staged to coincide with Mr. Romney’s address to the Detroit Economic Club. A mobile billboard circled the stadium announcing: “Let Detroit [strike-through] Romney go bankrupt,” a reference to his 2008 New York Times editorial.

    A very good point.

We get so very excited about why no apologies are demanded for Christian churches being torched in Muslim countries, but the parallel just is not there. If we had, let’s say, Egypt or the Arab League attacking Germany, trying to impose Sharia there, burning Christian churches or bibles there, killing thousands of Germans by missile and bombing attacks bent on overthrowing Merkel or some such boogie man, then we could talk about expecting apologies from “them”.

The $4 Billion Obamacare Slush Fund for Progressives

If you like how the Obama administration’s multibillion-dollar “investments” in bankrupt solar companies have turned out, you’ll love the latest federal loan program to nowhere. It’s the Obamacare loyalty rewards program for progressives.

To appease liberal Democrats pushing for the so-called “public option” (the full frontal government takeover of our health care system), the White House settled for the creation of a $6 billion network of nonprofit “CO-OPs” that will “compete” with private insurers. It’s socialized medicine through the side door. House Republicans sliced about $2 billion from the slush fund in last spring’s budget deal and proclaimed the program dead. Hardly.

On Wednesday, the White House trumpeted the release of nearly $700 million in taxpayer-funded low-interest loans for seven CO-OPs in eight states. Administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the fund will pour more money into CO-OP plans nationwide throughout the next year. In 2014, according to Washington bureaucrats, the plans will be offered on the federally approved and federally monitored state health exchange “marketplace.”

Some marketplace. Given how Team Obama has dispensed special Obamacare waivers to scores of campaign donors, it’s a sure bet the CO-OP/exchange mechanism will be brazenly rigged against non-subsidized, for-profit insurers. And against taxpayers. Obama health officials assure us that there will be an “early warning system” in place before loan recipients get into financial trouble. But we know from the half-billion-dollar Solyndra scam that when this administration sees red flags, it’s full speed ahead.

In fact, the Obamacare CO-OP overseers already predict a nearly 40 percent default rate for the loans, according to Kaiser Health. Welcome to the Chicago-on-the-Potomac reverse rule of holes: When you’re in one, keep digging.

So, who are the lucky winners of the Obamacare slush fund lottery?

Freelancers CO-OP of New Jersey, New Mexico Health Connections, Midwest Members Health in Iowa and Nebraska, Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative in Wisconsin, Freelancers CO-OP of Oregon, Montana Health Cooperative, and Freelancers Health Service Corporation in New York.

The Kennedy World is Going MAD-
    _______________

RFK son arrested in NY hospital maternity unit clash, police say

“Kennedy ignored the pleas of the nursing staff and carried the newborn — identified in court papers as “B.K.” — to the elevator, police said. As the nursing staff tried to calm him and dissuade him from leaving the hospital, Kennedy turned and walked toward a stairwell leading to the outside of the hospital.

Lane blocked the doorway, “placing both hands on the doorknob” to prevent Kennedy from leaving, police said. Kennedy grabbed the nurse by her left wrist and twisted it to that he could pass into the stairwell, police said.

The baby’s head “began to move from side to side, and in an attempt to stabilize the baby’s head, nurse Cari Maleman Luciano reached toward the infant’s head,” police said.

“Instinctively as a nurse, I raised both my arms toward the neck of the baby to steady the violent shaking of the baby’s head and neck,” Luciano told investigators in a deposition.

While holding the child in his right arm, Kennedy kicked Luciano in the pelvis with his right foot, knocking her backward onto the floor, police said.

As he did this, Kennedy fell onto the floor with the baby in his arms. Kennedy then got up and ran “down the stairs with the infant until he was stopped by security and escorted back to the infant’s room,” the police report said.”

I don’t think the people mentioning Romney here are supporting him because we like/love the guy or would support him under ANY OTHER circumstances…

…but in this ‘real world’ Romney has the best chance to corral all the anti-Obama voters…in a general election he can tack back to the center…everyone knows he is a moderate (with more liberal leanings in days past)…that is one reason he is having trouble with the holier than though ‘I am more conservative-than-you’ primary opponents…the ultra conservatives won’t win the general election against O…

Romney will come across less scary, more reasonable, experienced and ‘fatherly’ with good family values…forget Newt and Santorum…they will give O a landslide…

so the question always gets down to – ‘do we want to defeat O or not’?

also…this time around the VP choice will be critical…I’d like to see Christie get it…(forgive me, but for optics, he needs to reduce that waistline)

You mean the tickets were bought first, and the campaign then chose a site big enough? If that were true, I think the Romney campaign would tell us so. There would be a record of the number of tickets bought and the date the reservation was made.

Even if the timing were the othr way around — if the stadium were reserved first and then the bots bought up all the tickets so there would be no room for the Romney supporters — there would still be evidence of many tickets sold, AND PAID FOR.

An interesting perspective from a long, interesting essay. (I disagree with some other parts of it.)

    http://bradhicks.livejournal.com/457798.html
The Rumsfeld Doctrine hypothesized that given sufficiently advanced technology and best-of-the-best training for elite special operations forces, a superpower ought to be able to find, or else if need be recruit, disaffected elements in the targeted country, and incite them to civil war. As they will be a tiny rebel force, we can count on their government slaughtering them, and then, under the UN’s “Responsibility to Protect” doctrine, we can use the fact that they’re losing their civil war as diplomatic cover for providing them with satellite and computerized intel and precision drone and stealth-fighter air cover, and covert special operations force ground support. With those advantages over the national army, Rumsfeld and his fans argued, any group of rebels, no matter how small and how unpopular in their home country, ought to be able to seize and hold the capital indefinitely. With enough such special operations forces units and enough drone air strikes, the Rumsfeld Doctrine argues, we ought to be able to credibly threaten any country that doesn’t bow to our diplomatic and economic sanctions, and, if that threat isn’t enough, replace them with a grateful, and thus friendly, government. As cheap as those things are, we ought to be able to do those things as often as the President wants.

The Rumsfeld Doctrine was a disaster in Iraq. It was a disaster in Afghanistan. Oh, we can pretend that both cases were victories, because the Rumsfeld Doctrine is right in one narrow regard: a tiny America-backed rebel force can topple any third-world government. What they can’t do, after that, is govern the country, not without popular support at home, near-universal diplomatic support, and millions of pairs of American boots on the ground to protect that government, and to protect and provision the country, during reconstruction. The net result, in both Afghanistan and Iraq, ended up being that even worse, even more anti-American, governments end up being the ones that seize power at the end of the civil war after the old regime falls. It turned out, in Afghanistan and Iraq, that “Gideon’s band” can topple a government, but they can’t build a new one.

Lanny Davis is so right about the PBS Clinton “documentary.” I, too, thought it to be biased and disproportionate. The narrative was based on a two-fold structure: a string of scandals and Clinton’s “recklessness” and “weaknesses.” The fact that Starr failed to find any wrongdoing (except for the affair) left the impression that the Clintons were still hiding something and guilty somehow. The “documentary” didn’t even have the courtesy to allow Blumenthal (who wrote “The Hunting of the President”) more than 5 seconds to address the “scandals.” But the frighting Lucien Goldberg and other Rep and Dem critics were allowed plenty of time to diss and express their disappointment on Clinton. Susan McDougal, who spent two years in a Federal prison because she refused to lie about Clinton, was’t even mentioned at all, let alone interviewed!

As, Lanny Davis argues, President Clinton’s accomplishments were brazenly glossed over or barely mentioned at all (usually characterized as a “gamble” that worked, etc.) The ending — which confessed that Clinton’s Presidency was one of the most successful in modern history (i.e. economic boom and surplus; world peace; U.S. popularity abroad) — was a mere footnote, strangely at odds with the entire narrative argument and structure of the “documentary”: that Clinton was charming-but- reckless and chaotic, whose successes were mere gambles and/or luck.

Adelson makes new ‘sizeable’ contribution to pro-Gingrich super PAC

    February 24, 2012

Washington (CNN) – Casino mogul and major Republican donor Sheldon Adelson made an expected new contribution this week to the super PAC supporting Newt Gingrich, Winning Our Future, CNN has learned.

The sources would not speak on the record because Adelson wanted his contribution to be private.

CNN reported last week Adelson was expected to contribute as much as an additional $10 million to the super PAC. A great majority of the funding for Winning Our Future has come from Adelson and his extended family. Adelson, his wife and their extended family have donated $11 million to the organization.

The sources would not specify the exact amount of the donation.

A spokesman for Adelson could not be reached for comment.

A spokesman for Winning Our Future, Rick Tyler, refused to comment on whether Adelson made a new donation.

Thanks to the new influx of money, the organization will have far greater resources to help boost Gingrich in some of the primaries and caucuses voting on March 6th, Super Tuesday.

The organization is expected to disclose as early as Monday its plans for advertising in those states. Gingrich is campaigning hard in several of those contests in hopes to keeping his campaign alive.

You can follow Kevin Bohn on Twitter @KevinBohnCNN.

In the new edition of Forbes Magazine, the multi-billionaire defended himself against critics of his contributions.

“Those people are either jealous or professional critics,” Adelson said, adding “They like to trash other people. It’s unfair that I’ve been treated unfair—but it doesn’t stop me. I might give $10 million or $100 million to Gingrich.”

Adelson’s worth is estimated at $25 billion.

One source familiar with Adelson’s donation described it as “sizeable.” Two sources said the Nevada businessman made the contribution recently.

Iran says Whitehouse must burn for Koran desecration, commanders must be hanged.

What i want to know is why BO evidently doesn’t believe in Catholic rights and their freedom to support or not support issues important to them but DOES believe the f**king Muslims have the freedom to insist on adherence to their principals including killing of our military personnel.

    Quite a double standard.

    – A top Iranian military commander said the US helplessness in the confrontation against Islam is the real cause underlying the burning of the Muslims’ Holy Book by American soldiers in Afghanistan, and stressed that nothing but burning the White House and hanging the US commanders responsible for this cowardly action can relieve the Muslims’ pain.

“The US has committed such an ugly action and burnt Quran because of the heavy slap it has been given by Islam,” Commander of Iran’s Basij (volunteer) force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi said on Saturday.

He stressed Muslims’ sensitivity to the crimes underway in Afghanistan by the US forces, and said Muslims do not accept the US apology, because it makes numerous military mistakes and then just asks for the Afghans’ apology, and this is not acceptable.

“Nothing but burning the White House can relieve the wound of us, the Muslims, caused by the Burning of Quran in the US,” he underscored.

“Their apology can be accepted only by hanging their commanders; hanging their commanders means an apology,” he reiterated.

KABUL (WSJ) —Two high-ranking U.S. military advisers were killed Saturday during a clash with an Afghan national at Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry headquarters, according to Afghan and Western officials.

An American colonel and major were both found shot in the head at the busy ministry compound that is the nerve center for the Afghan law enforcement, according to one Western official in Kabul.

Afghan and American officials shut down the compound as they launched an investigation into the killings in one of the most heavily guarded parts of the capital.

Top U.S. military officials said they were still trying to determine the identity of the attacker. But one Western official in Kabul said that the two Americans were shot by an Afghan policeman upset about the burning of Qurans earlier this week at a U.S. military base.

Earlier this week, an Afghan soldier shot and killed two U.S. soldiers at a small military base in eastern Afghanistan. The attacker escaped through a crowd of anti-Quran burning demonstrators outside the base.

Newt robocalled here this afternoon. He spoke strong and long; his main purpose was to get people to participate in a telephone town hall he’s having. He said to go to http://www.newt.org/ for more info on that call. Well, his home page is perfect with admin’s ugly ass theme because the first thing you see on is O’s ass. Underneath it says “Stop bowing, start drilling.” Too funny.

Morgan is such a simpering apologist. When he said but-but-but Mr. Gingrich, shouldn’t we be sensitive to the affect of koran burning on Muslims in light of the crazy U.S. pastor last year who threatened to burn a koran and caused so much havoc NG looked like he wanted to puke.

I agree NG is the only candidate taking this issue on. MR and RS are MIA, just like the POS.

NG gets points for that in my book. It is about time someone stood up to the apologists in this country and demanded justice for American troops. I am sick to death of hearing incidents like the Fort Hood Shooting classified as a mental health issue and not as an act of terrorism. I am sick to death of the American media covering up all the incidents of Muslim extremism in THIS country and Napolitano and crew labeling Americans as the most dangerous group in the U.S.

I am sick to death of the eager-beaver build-the-GZM idiots including the POS in chief.

I honestly do not think Americans will stand for much more of this. I hope they won’t.

    And then there’s this:

In Libya the graves of British soldiers who lost their lives in WW11 are knocked down and defiled.

(Daily Mail) — A furious mob has desecrated dozens of Commonwealth War Graves in a Libyan cemetery amid continuing fury in the Middle East over the burning of the Koran by U.S. soldiers.

Headstones commemorating British and Allied servicemen, killed during World War II campaigns in the Western Desert, lay smashed and strewn across Benghazi Military Cemetery.

Oh, Boy- Larry Johnson’s popularity undercut by our beloved Ulsterman? Say it isn’t so- It appears- His CiA contacts and credentials seem no longer reliable enough sources for him to identify the ghost writer, Ulsterman and/or the WHI- what a joke he is- well, I haven’t seen him selling pots and pans on his blog site in a while… mustn’t be a profitable image he no longer wishes to project…

    Krauthammer’s remarks about the apology.

On Friday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer took strong umbrage with the White House’s decision to apologize at a Virginia mosque for a reportedly accidental burning of Islamic holy documents.

“That was embarrassing, what we saw,” Krauthammer said. “We have gone from apology here to abject self-debasement and groveling. And groveling to whom? To the mob. We should have had a single apology coming from the commander on the ground and that’s it. Not from the secretary of defense. Not from the president, of all people.”

Krauthammer reminded viewers of the 2010 incident involving Terry Jones, a Florida pastor who was promoting “Burn a Koran Day” and the administration’s reaction to that.

“Remember when the president had to pick up the phone when there was a crazy pastor in Florida who wanted a Koran burning and he had to be talked out of it,” Krauthammer said. “Is the president in charge of the offenses against a certain religious tradition in the world? This is a world in which nobody asked the Islamic conference, the grouping of the 56 Islamic countries, to issue an apology when Christians are attacked and churches are burned in Egypt or in Pakistan. And have we heard a word from any Islamic leader anywhere about the radical Muslims in Nigeria who are not only burning the churches but are burning women and children who are Christian in the churches. When I hear that, I’ll expect my president to start issuing apologies.”

According to The Washington Post columnist, this response makes the United States look weak and despite looking weak, those on the other side rarely reciprocate.

“In fact I’m not sure the argument that … you have to do it to protect our soldiers, is correct,” he continued. “The fact that after the president apologized and after we have been on our knees groveling there was an increase in the violence. I mean, it isn’t as if it has any effect whatsoever. It whets the appetite. People love to see America on its knees. And second, on the idea that there are leaders, Muslim leaders in the world who apologize, there are 56 nations in the Islamic conference. Has one apologized for the attacks on the Copts in Egypt? Has the leader in Egypt himself apologized? No. Sorry.

Newts video with Morgan is probably the best interview I have ever seen him give. Too bad his baggage. If he checked hie ego years ago and would stay on his meds, he would have been President.

  • Mrs. Smith

Gingrich wasn’t the right president for years ago- This is the right time for someone as bold and brash and politically incorrect to take the reigns and kick this corrupt administration to kingdom come.

We are fighting for our lives here. His personal life is of no concern to me.. as long as Gingrich is an American, a Patriot, and has the means to pull America back from the brink- I can live with his pimples and past for the next four years- The alternative of living with the blue lipped Kenyan is just too scary a thought. We won’t have a country left if he remains in power.

That’s why he impeached Bill Clinton? After fighting Bill’s policies for years?

“I can live with his pimples and past for the next four years-”

Next four years? When the GOP gets in, they stay in, making life worse, till finally they foul up so bad that a Dem gets in for a short time. Till the GOP impeaches him. (Exception is Obama the DINO.)

It was not the Independents that stayed home last election; it was the conservative Republicans and conservatives period. McCain, just like Romney now, can not and will not get the conservative vote….they will stay home….they will not compromise their principles. Each of them believes that if they go contrary to their individual principles that all is lost. They CAN not go contrary to their principles. Thus, the unelectability of Romney. Personally, I only see one difference between what is in the White House now and Romney….he is Dimocrat Lite. Not acceptable. It was the thievery, thuggery, cheating, and the conservatives staying home that got us what we got now.

Harping on personal events in the past of a candidate would make it very hard to vote for any candidate. I overlook Big Dawg’s flaws just as I overlook any flaws that Gingrich has had in his past. If you want to examine personal flaws we would have had far fewer people who were influential for this country like: Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson, John F Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Benjamin Franklin, etc. Gingrich has sought, and I presume received, forgiveness for his past sins; who are we to judge? What is needed to be considered now is WHO can get the job done? Who has the plans to get the jobs done. I have read Gingrich’s but I do not see that Romney has any bold plan or series of plans to do anything other than a speech where he cites he has the business acumen. I can just see him in a board room of hardened criminals, er politicians, that know all the ins and outs of forcing and coercing compliance with their way or the highway; Romney would go home crying like a baby to his mama. The only experience he has had is dealing with businesses that are inexperienced in guerilla warfare or Alinsky tactics, or the strategy of wars.

    Amen, Mrs. Smith and Betty.

Lanny Davis’ analysis and argument against the biased “documentary” on Pres Clinton is sound, regardless of how one feels about him. I find his loyalty and staunch support for the Clintons heroic. I may not agree with everything he’s said (i.e. esp. his perfunctory remarks on BO), but he certainly is one sharp cookie, always making the argument rather casting cheap ad hominem attacks. I respect that.

fwiw, Romney finally hit 50% in a national poll against Obama.

    http://www.gallup.com/poll/election.aspx

Granted, Obama’s very effective machine can easily kill off 5% of that, and Romney’s mouth can kill of a little more, but the fact that 50% of people are actually *ok* with voting for Romney is a good sign for any republican challenger. The problem with Romney is that he’s too wonky and his the best thing about his candidacy is that he is successful and experienced, and we all know a large part of the electorate don’t care about any of that, they prefer rhetoric. *sigh* Just thought i’d deliver the good news.
