Draft Hillary Or Die, Part I

Update: Thank you for the miles of smiles you bring to us today Republican/conservative HotAir. And yup, he has a book of exactly what you describe. Bill Clinton: Why yes, the media did favor Obama over Hillary three years ago:

Via Fox News Insider, this clip shouldn’t be as gratifying as it is. Surely no one needs Bill Clinton to tell them that the press was neck-deep in the tank for The Unicorn Prince in 2008. But it is gratifying, partly because of the hint of lingering resentment in Clinton’s reaction and partly because of the extra little shadow of illegitimacy it casts on Obama’s victory. It’s no secret that BJ didn’t think much of O during the campaign — remember this infamous exchange he reportedly had with Ted Kennedy? — but to see him acknowledge this when we’re on the cusp of another campaign where the media will be neck-deep in the tank for Obama is oddly comforting. Forget the bit at the end where he hedges on media bias against the GOP and never mind that, if asked, he would surely say he thinks Obama would have beat Hillary without the press’s help (she did end up winning New Hampshire, after all). Those are stock answers that any good soldier would offer for his party. The one about Hillary is not, which is what makes it so striking. No one’s under any illusions about the media’s corruption, including the elder statesmen in their favored party.

I’ll bet he has a little scrapbook stashed somewhere filled with stories like this.

The enemy of my enemy…
temporary alliance… sure to annoy those in the veal pen… NObama!

—————————————————————————————–

We promised to publish several articles about Hillary 2012. We promised the articles would begin to appear in September. There are reasons why we did not keep our promise.

By summer we were led to understand something was going to happen in September that might cause a change in the line of succession in the United States. Originally Barack Obama was set to stab Israel in the back at the United Nations and that Obama treachery would have had domestic consequences and a possible resignation. But that treachery was averted by Palestinian bumbling and miscalculations at the U.N. and a smart Hillary Clinton.

Something else, something much more important, then happened on September 13. As we tried to piece together the information we received piecemeal, in order to finish our promised articles, more information came into our possession.

The information we received was that votes were being taken at labor union executive meetings asking about Barack Obama. What we were told, from long time reliable friends and sources, was that certain U.S. Senators and Democrats were requesting union locals to survey their boards on the question of whether Barack Obama deserved reelection. What was odd was that the unions were asked to tape record the responses and provide them to these senators.

The responses were not what our sources expected. What we were told happened at these private executive board meetings was a wave of yelled anger against Barack Obama. The board members who did the most yelling and expressed the most anger were black women and black men members of the various executive committees.

As we called other sources to ask about the meaning of these votes, to be tape recorded, we were asked to let things play out and not expose these votes. We complied with these requests so that the meetings could proceed without interruption. We complied because there were other activities and non-activities which persuaded us that was the right course to take. We’ll explain as much as we can in the next installments of this series.

We postponed our articles. On September 13, something amazing happened which stopped the U.N. treachery:

“Today’s election in Queens/Brooklyn is an eviction notice to Barack Obama to vacate the White House. There are two very important lessons that will emerge from today:

(1) The attempt by Barack Obama to revive his dead presidency with a fake jobs bill has failed. The fake jobs bill was always a fake. It was an attempt to fool worried Dimocrats that Obama has the cojones to fight, if not win. But Obama has already caved and it has been announced Obama will take whatever cold fish the Republicans slap him with smack on his face. Obama had to cave. No one is impressed by a Boob who can’t rally the troops or win an election in the deepest of blue areas.

(2) If the strong and corrupt Dimocratic machines in Queens/Brooklyn can’t bludgeon voters to support Obama/Weprin then no district, precinct, ward is safe for Obama Dimocrats. No one should think that Bob Turner, the Republican, is a sure win or even a close win in a district that has rejected Republicans since 1923. The political machine in the 9th district and in Queens is a powerful dynastic machine of Weprins, Staviskies, Vallones and Crowleys. Even a close election result will be a massive achievement for the NOBAMA Coalition.”

September 13, was indeed Dump Obama Or Die Day – the Republicans won the election. It is fear of what the election results will be in November 2011 that drives a great deal of what is happening behind the scenes. Fear of what the election results will be in November 2011 also drives a lot of what is beginning to happen out in the open:

N.H. voters should draft Hillary

We argued in a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed piece that President Barack Obama should stand down and let Secretary of State Hillary Clinton run as the Democratic presidential nominee in 2012.

We are now calling on Democratic voters nationally — particularly in New Hampshire — to organize a write-in campaign for Clinton. This is something that New Hampshire voters have a long history of doing.

We advocate this Draft Hillary movement not because of the desire to make political mischief — but to put the country on the right course.”

Just the mere talk of this is political mischief that hurts Barack Obama’s reelection. Just talk of “Draft Hillary” reminds many of the Mistake In ’08 and the never to reconcile Hillary supporters who reject Obama and the Obama Dimocratic Party. And there are many of us. [I have a short conversation between my friend Rumana and President Clinton this afternoon at a book signing in Chappaqua.  Here is Rumana’s synopsis: I said you should go to S4h FB page and see we are encouraging her. He put his hand on my shoulder and said if lot more people encourage her maybe she will run. I said Mr. President we are talking about 2012 please do something. He said she needs to know you are there for her and I said please tell her.”]

Just the mere talk of “Draft Hillary 2012” injures Barack Obama and reminds us all what a colossal failure Barack Obama is:

“It’s clear that Obama has been unable to build consensus and, with the polarizing campaign he is now running, will be unable to govern effectively even if reelected. Only Clinton can commit the Democratic Party — and, indeed, the nation — to a unification and healing process. This could allow Washington, in a bipartisan manner, to finally address the economic and governmental crises that now grip America.

We are facing a crisis of national leadership, so citizens should step up and take charge of their country the way demonstrators in the Middle East did earlier this year. And, stunningly, as the people of Russia are now doing.

It’s time to take the decision about America’s leadership out of the hands of the established powers and return it to the citizens of our country. That opportunity to change U.S. politics will appear in the second week of 2012 in New Hampshire.”

Many will scoff, particularly those too tired to fight. But remember, just the mere talk of “Draft Hillary 2012” hobbles the corrupt criminal Chicago clown. In their call for citizens to seize control and “Draft Hillary 2012” Schoen and Caddell echo must of what we have written particularly in regards to what big dollar donors must do:

“To seize this moment two things are required:

First, and most important, ordinary Democrats and independents in New Hampshire should mobilize behind a grass-roots effort to write in Clinton’s name during the Jan. 10 Democratic primary.

Second, a committed group of Democrats with resources and stature needs to help facilitate an authentic citizens’ movement — independent of party structure, Clinton and organized interests — to support a massive New Hampshire write-in campaign and put this before a deeply disaffected electorate.

There is already an online petition to draft Clinton, created by Democrats.

“We the undersigned Democrats want a new Democratic nominee for president who can win in 2012. We are convinced that the only person with the national stature, experience … who can win in the general election in 2012 is Hillary Rodham Clinton. We are fully prepared to take matters in to our own hands and launch our own massive write-in campaign,” it reads.

Even if one does not agree with their every argument, we urge everyone who shares our beliefs go to that website now — and to tell their friends to go to there and sign it.”

That website, with every view and every signature, hurts Barack Obama’s reelections and reminds everyone that:

“And to the Democratic National Committee Chair, Vice Chairs, and Distinguished DNC Members as well as the Superdelegate Members, make no mistake: under NO circumstance will we cast a vote for your current predetermined choice for nominee, Barack Obama. We will not fall in line like last time in 2008 when we were asked to be “good little Democrats” for the sake of the Party. We all know how that worked out. We are fully prepared to take matters into our own hands and launch our own massive write-in campaign, much like Senator Murkowski’s successful write-in campaign in Alaska.”

Schoen and Caddell warn that Obama is a loser:

“Since 1944, when approval ratings first became reliable, there have been five cases in which the incumbent president had an approval rating below 49 percent a year ahead of the election. Each time, the incumbent party lost.

Obama’s approval rating has dropped to 43 percent — less than Jimmy Carter’s. Obama now has the worst job approval rating of any president at this stage of his term in modern political history. Many, particularly on the left, have begun to demonstrate with signs reading, “Buyer’s remorse.

In a recent Daily Beast piece, “Hillary Told You So,” angry, frustrated liberals were quoted saying, “No one ever had to tell Hillary” that the economy is crucial, and “Hillary is tougher.”

Indeed, the most active calls for Clinton to run have come from the left — indicating that there is substantial support for this idea across the board and not just from centrist Democrats.”

To hell with the party. The bottom line is that the American people cannot survive another four years of Obama the corrupt, treacherous, incompetent. The country cannot survive a president who has contempt for vast majorities of the American public:

“Certainly, the recent barrage of articles by former Obama allies saying that the White House has lost white, working-class voters — a key part of the Democratic coalition — is cause enough for Clinton, who has been that voting bloc’s champion in the past, to be the Democratic standard-bearer.

Many argue that our approach is impractical and is unlikely to work because Obama will not stand down. But make no mistake, we are political realists.

As political realists, we know that every recent presidential candidate who has emerged — from Obama in 2008 to Herman Cain, Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry and now Newt Gingrich — has been citizen-driven. The elites have not driven the process; ordinary voters have filled the void.

Such a void exists now.

Clinton pulled off a stunning New Hampshire primary victory over Obama during the 2008 primaries. There is every reason to believe that, as a write-in candidate, she would get a substantial number of votes in the Granite State next year.

New Hampshire is one state where grass-roots politics predominates. As presidential historian Theodore White wrote in 1965, New Hampshire’s primary allows candidates “to appeal directly to people” and “over the heads of the politicians.”

This primary — traditionally well before other primaries — allows independents to cast ballots for either Democrats or Republicans, unlike most other “closed primaries,” in which only registered Democrats and Republicans can vote on their respective parties’ ballots. It’s justly famous for write-in candidates, who often had substantial success.

In 1964, write-in candidate Henry Cabot Lodge had an upset victory over GOP front-runners Barry Goldwater and Nelson Rockefeller. In 1968, incumbent President Lyndon B. Johnson was not on the ballot, but as a write-in, he received nearly 50 percent of all Democratic votes.

A write-in candidacy in 2012 can send a message that the Democratic Party must stand for something more than Obama’s reelection at all costs.

There once was a Democratic Party that cared about the American people. Now the Obama Dimocratic Party only cares about Obama. Obama has got to be driven out:

“We are not asking the president or the secretary of state to take action. We ask the people of the United States, Democrats and, especially, New Hampshire voters to exercise their right to be heard by writing Clinton’s name on the primary ballot.

Voters have had enough of the establishment powers dictating who can run.

All that is needed is a spark on the dry tinder of political frustration and anxiety. A few Democratic patriots can provide the means to make it possible — and change the course of U.S. history.”

Many will scoff at this proposal. But every mention of Democratic opposition to Barack Obama and “draft Hillary” argument hurts Barack Obama’s reelection chances.

What little is left of Barack Obama’s presidency continues to unravel then burn. We now learn that the “universal” heath scam Obama forced through means that the federal government will now be the thug enforcer for Big Insurance companies to extract billions from the American taxpayer and that not much else has been achieved by that corrupt Obama health scam:

“In a major surprise on the politically charged new health care law, the Obama administration said Friday that it would not define a single uniform set of “essential health benefits” that must be provided by insurers for tens of millions of Americans. Instead, it will allow each state to specify the benefits within broad categories.”

On March 26, 27, and 28, the Supreme Court will hear Obamacare arguments – at the height of the Republican campaign season. Obama’s health scam is rejected by most Americans and the argument at the Supreme Court will only help Republicans next year.

The economy continues to sink or stagnate and ugly Obama schemes such as another Social Security threatening payroll tax holiday fall apart. The latest two month payroll tax holiday is such a logistical nightmare that this recent mess is already in trouble.

The country cannot continue in this manner. Leadership is required. Obama must go.

For some Hillary Clinton 2008 supporters, the dream is apparently still alive — an anonymous group is making robocalls advocating for a Hillary presidential run next year.

The calls are reportedly being made by the group Run Hillary 2012, but there’s no audio available. The group’s site has videos and lists positive comments about Clinton, but apart from a note along the bottom, “A project of the 99%,” there’s no indication of who’s behind the group.

Shaun Dakin, of Stoppoliticalcalls.org, has gotten reports of calls in both New York and North Carolina.

UPDATE: Sam Stein got audio of the robocall. Here’s the text:

America would be better off today if Hillary Clinton was our president. The Wall Street robber barons would be jailed, young people could afford college and find jobs and six million homeowners wouldn’t face foreclosure. We need to change our course. Please sign our petition to draft Hillary Clinton for president.

UPDATE: A reader tells me that his father got the Hillary robocall in Florida earlier today.

That, and the OWS issues (Wall St, student loans, foreclosures) … suggests the obvious. That some OWS have got the right clue as to who would really fix those issues: Hillary!

99% Activists Release Hillary Clinton Robocall

    By Andrew Belonsky
    Monday, December 19, 2011

The group Run Hillary 2012 has released a robocall in North Carolina and New York asking voters to recruit Hillary Clinton for a 2012 presidential run.

“America would be better off today if Hillary Clinton was our president,” insists the organization, which describes itself as “a project of the 99%.”

“The Wall Street robber barons would be jailed, young people could afford college and find jobs and six million homeowners wouldn’t face foreclosure. We need to change our course. Please sign our petition to draft Hillary Clinton for president,” says the female caller. (You can listen via The Huffington Post.)

It’s not only Run Hillary 2012 that’s looking for the Secretary of State to move over to the executive branch: Patrick H. Caddell and Douglas E. Schoen over at Politico write yesterday that voters in New Hampshire should draft the former first lady and senator.

“We advocate this Draft Hillary movement not because of the desire to make political mischief — but to put the country on the right course,” they write at Politico. The current president has “been unable to build consensus” and “will be unable to govern effectively even if reelected.” They argue the American people, particularly New Hampshire residents, need to have a political uprising like the ones in the Middle East — have they not heard about Occupy Wall Street? — and help mobilize the Democratic machine toward a Clinton candidacy.

The Secretary is tougher than Obama, they claim, and popular among frustrated liberals and the ever-important white, working-class voters: “Certainly, the recent barrage of articles by former Obama allies saying that the White House has lost white, working-class voters — a key part of the Democratic coalition — is cause enough for Clinton, who has been that voting bloc’s champion in the past, to be the Democratic standard-bearer.”

Laura Washington at the Chicago Sun-Times, meanwhile, thinks Clinton should replace Joe Biden as the vice presidential candidate because she can help Obama beat potential GOP nominee Newt Gingrich.

“A Gingrich nomination would energize liberal and women voters, who despise and fear him,” she writes. “Clinton would be a stone-cold reminder of the bad old 1990s, when she and her husband battled Gingrich tooth and nail. No one is better prepared to remind voters just who Newt Gingrich really is: The man who incessantly attacked the Bill Clinton presidency.”

Shoot, even Dick Cheney thinks Clinton should run.

The robocalls and other Clinton 2012 petitions are no surprise: Democrats have been asking Hillary Clinton to run ever since the 2008 election, when she and Obama’s rivalry very nearly split their party in two. (In fact, Mitt Romney has been using that battle to win over independent voters and disgruntled Democrats.)

While this incessant, enduring demand for Clinton 2012 illustrates ongoing frustration among Obama’s peers, and should send a signal to the White House, her running against Obama is a terrible idea. Clinton running against Obama would be an extremely risky move: she runs the risk of alienating his core supporters and handing the Republican nominee a big win.

Besides, why would Clinton want to return to the White House? If she leaves the State Department after the election, as she plans, she will still have enormous power and influence the world over, and finally make money using it. Plus, turning on Obama would tarnish her family’s legacy, just as it would have had the their infighting cost him the election four years ago.

From this article … at the very bottom….

    http://worldnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/12/17/9528197-the-war-is-over-last-us-soldiers-leave-iraq
A handful of U.S. military personnel will remain in the country, working with the U.S. Embassy to help with arms sales and training for Iraqi forces. Talks could resume next year on whether more U.S. troops can return for future training missions.
In the meantime, U.S. officials say there will be roughly 16,000 people involved in the American diplomatic effort in Iraq.
About 2,000 will be diplomats and federal workers. The remaining 14,000 will be contractors — roughly half involved with security.

Last year iirc, Washington announced that all ‘combat operations’ has ceased and many ‘combat troops’ had been removed. It turned out that quite a few troops had their description changed from ‘combat’ to something else. (And, iirc, quite a few of the ‘removed’ troops had gone right back under a different description.)

None of these lies will fool anyone into believing Obama cares about women in any way. This is so embarrassing and pathetic and obviously a campaign tactic:

    http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.36250fd7ea7d7c41d8cfe510d0060488.1c1&show_article=1

The United States on Monday said President Barack Obama would sign an executive order that would release the country’s “first-ever national action plan on women, peace, and security.”

The executive order would “lay out the concrete steps the administration will take to increase our commitment to support women as critical participants in preventing and resolving conflict,” a senior administration official said.

“We know that enabling women to have a voice alongside those of men in matters of international peace and security is the right thing to do,” the official added.

The action plan created by Obama aims to strengthen US government measures to protect women and children from harm, exploitation, discrimination and violence, including sexual violence and human trafficking.

    Dear Madam Secretary:
Let’s get right to the point.
Hillary Rodham Clinton, you need to run for the Presidency of the United States in 2012.

Every poll shows that you would defeat any Republican candidate for president by a wide margin. However, the same polls indicate the opposite if you are not the Democratic nominee.

    Well now, lookie here:

Our Bill is taking on the Climate issue with common sense- extraordinary! (the common sense I mean… )

“Deforestation is a major contributor to climate change and represents about 17 percent of global carbon emissions. CCI’s Forestry Program works at the invitation of partner governments on the measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) of forest carbon and the development of a portfolio of projects that reduce emissions from deforestation and degradation” (REDD+).

Forests were actually third on Bill’s list: below city emissions and clean energy.

    http://www.clintonfoundation.org/what-we-do/clinton-climate-initiative/
CCI focuses on three strategic program areas: reducing emissions in cities, catalyzing the large-scale supply of clean energy, and working to stop deforestation.

    Cities
With a majority of the earth’s population now living in urban areas, cities contribute more than two-thirds of the world’s energy and account for more than 70 percent of global CO2 emissions. Through targeted projects, including building retrofits, outdoor lighting, and waste management, CCI’s Cities Program helps municipal governments, at their invitation, improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions. Learn More.

    Clean Energy
Fossil fuels are the source of most of our energy today and account for about 60 percent of greenhouse gas emissions globally. Electricity and heat are the major contributors, generating about 25 percent of the world total. At the invitation of partner governments, CCI’s Clean Energy Program assists in the development of projects using technologies that will deliver clean energy on a significant scale by 2020 and have long-term commercial potential. Learn More.

    Forests
Deforestation is a major contributor to climate change and represents about 17 percent of global carbon emissions. CCI’s Forestry Program works at the invitation of partner governments on the measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) of forest carbon and the development of a portfolio of projects that reduce emissions from deforestation and degradation (REDD+). • turndownobama

And here is what Bill says about solar energy in general:

    http://www.clintonfoundation.org/what-we-do/clinton-climate-initiative/clean-energy/solar-energy
Solar energy has strong potential to become a significant global energy source, but its development faces barriers today. In the absence of carbon regulations and targeted financial solutions, the cost of energy generation from solar is currently more expensive than the cost of energy generation from traditional sources (for example, coal and natural gas). The technology is therefore underfinanced while deployment is slow and fragmented – only a small portion of the technology’s potential is currently being realized. While the market for solar energy eventually will come online, through targeted interventions we can overcome short-term barriers and accelerate this process considerably.

Let me be the first to cry, “Bull Crap” on this ploy to win the women’s vote in 2012.

If women had value to Obama, he wouldn’t have stabbed Hillary in the back in 2008!

US to release women action plan: Obama official

Iowa GOP worried by hacker threat to caucus vote

    By RYAN J. FOLEY

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Taking seriously an apparent threat from a notorious collective of computer hackers, the Iowa Republican Party is boosting the security of the electronic systems it will use in two weeks to count the first votes of the 2012 presidential campaign.

Investigators don’t know if the threat is authentic, but it has nonetheless led the state party to confront a worst-case scenario. Their fear: an Iowa caucus marred by hackers who corrupt the database used to gather votes and crash the website used to inform the public about results that can shape the campaign for the White House.

“With the eyes of the media on the state, the last thing we want to do is have a situation where there is trouble with the reporting system,” said Wes Enos, a member of the Iowa GOP’s central committee and the political director for Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann’s campaign in the state. “We don’t want that to be the story.”

Confident in the existing safeguards protecting the vote count itself, Enos and other members of the party central committee told The Associated Press they recently authorized additional security measures aimed at ensuring hackers are unable to delay the release of caucus results.

The state GOP fears such a delay could disrupt the traditional influence of Iowa’s first-in-the-nation vote. Candidates who do well tend to gain momentum in the presidential race, while those finishing at the back of the pack may drop out. Experts in computer security said such concerns are valid.

“It’s very clear the data consolidation and data gathering from the caucuses, which determines the headlines the next morning, who might withdraw or resign from the process, all of that is fragile,” said Douglas Jones, a computer science professor at the University of Iowa who has consulted for both political parties.

“If I were one of these `hacktivists’ who had no scruples, I would be really strongly tempted to see if I could get into the computer and see if I could make `SpongeBob SquarePants’ win.”

A former activist for Occupy Des Moines, Clarke Davidson, has said he posted the two-minute video on YouTube after masked men left it outside his tent near the state Capitol on Nov. 3. Other members of the protest group have discounted Davidson’s story and say they oppose any efforts to shut down the vote count.

The video claims to be from Anonymous, a loosely organized group of hackers that has claimed credit for attacks on targets ranging from the Peruvian government to Paypal. It features a computer-generated voice denouncing what it calls a corrupt political system that favors corporations and calls on supporters to “peacefully shut down the first-in-the-nation Iowa caucuses.”

Investigators aren’t sure whether the video is actually from anyone affiliated with Anonymous, and state authorities have not taken any actions since the call to “peacefully shut down” the caucuses does not amount to a crime, said Jim Saunders, director of the Iowa Intelligence Fusion Center at the state’s Department of Public Safety.

Unlike most presidential primaries, which are conducted by state governments, Iowa’s caucuses are run by the political parties. On Jan. 3, voters will gather in roughly 1,800 precincts in Iowa’s 99 counties to declare their preference for a candidate. Those results are then reported to the state party, where they are tabulated electronically and reported to the public on a website.

The GOP is also encouraging the party activists who run the precinct votes to use paper ballots instead of a show of hands, which has been the practice in some areas. The ballots would provide a backup in the event of any later confusion about the results.

“If a hacker gets in and messes it all up, we can reconstruct (the results),” said Drew Ivers, chairman of Texas Rep. Ron Paul’s campaign in Iowa and a member of the state GOP central committee. “It would take a little while. It might take a day or two, but we can do it.”

Among the early voting states, the hacking concerns have most spooked officials in Iowa. In New Hampshire, whose primary is one week after the Iowa caucuses, officials rely on a mostly manual process that uses paper and is less vulnerable to an attack on computer systems, said Assistant Secretary of State Anthony Stevens. In South Carolina, which follows 11 days later, State Election Commission spokesman Chris Whitmire said he was not aware of any concerns.

Ryan Gough, the Iowa GOP official in charge of coordinating the caucuses, declined to comment on specifics of the new security efforts so as not to give away “the game plan” to hackers.

But Jones said officials are likely working to prevent two of Anonymous’ favorite tools. The first sends thousands of requests to a website server, rendering the site inaccessible. The second is known as a “SQL injection” and could be used to change the content of a computer database, including one used to record vote totals.

When elections officials in Washington D.C. tested an online voting system last year, University of Michigan researchers were able to use an SQL injection to quickly invade the system and make it play the Wolverine fight song every time someone voted, he said.

“These SQL vulnerabilities are notorious, widely known and yet it’s a mistake people keep making,” Jones said. “It is one of the first things that you try these days.”

  • turndownobama

Oh, this is funny — and sort of encouraging.

We’ve been pushing for paper ballots and recounts ever since 2000 or before. Now paper ballots and recounts are coming back — because OWS said Anonymous said they were going to hack a computer vote tabulating system.

All it took was one little video. Given attention maybe because of OWS.

Now what if OWS takes this further and occupies the caucuses themselves? Why, the parties might have to give up caucuses and go back to primaries!

World leaders to flock to Havel funeral

PRAGUE — World leaders will join Czech dignitaries to pay homage to Velvet Revolution icon and former president Vaclav Havel at his state funeral in an historic Prague cathedral on Friday.

Among those expected are French President Nicolas Sarkozy, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her husband, former US president Bill Clinton, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Israeli President Shimon Peres, officials and local media said.

Austrian President Heinz Fischer, Slovenian President Danilo Turk, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic and outgoing Prime Minister Iveta Radicova have also confirmed they will attend.

Czechs continued to pay tribute to Havel, a dissident playwright who earned a special place in their hearts for leading them through the bloodless 1989 Velvet Revolution, which brought about the end of Soviet-backed communism in then Czechoslovakia.

Havel, who served as president of Czechoslovakia from 1989 to 1992 and subsequently the Czech Republic from 1993 to 2003, died on Sunday aged 75 following a long illness.

“The Czech nation and the whole of Europe has lost the most important Czech of the 20th century, so it’s good that the state will honour him,” Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg, former head of Havel’s office and a close friend, said on Monday.

Flags flew at half mast across the Czech Republic on Tuesday ahead of three days of national mourning from Wednesday through Friday, the day of Havel’s funeral in St Vitus Cathedral at Prague Castle, the seat of Czech presidents.

Czech lawmakers met to honour the former president on Tuesday.

The government of neighbouring Slovakia declared Friday a day of national mourning.

Crowds lined up outside a former church in central Prague for a second day Tuesday to pay their respects at Havel’s coffin, while hundreds of people signed condolence books at Prague Castle.

On Wednesday, a ceremonial march will take Havel’s coffin to Vladislav Hall at Prague Castle on a horse-drawn gun carriage that was also used for the funeral of the first Czechoslovak president Tomas Garrigue Masaryk in 1937.

The coffin will be on display there for two days, before being taken to St Vitus Cathedral for Friday’s memorial service and a requiem mass.

Havel’s body will later be cremated in accordance with his family’s wishes.

Wednesday’s ceremonial march and the funeral will be broadcast on large screens in Prague Castle courtyards, but also in cities across the country.

I was there in 2008. The HRC and O groups met in the main room of the school (Auditorium), and then the smaller groups met in outside room areas. They were negoitiating to see which of the two larger groups would give them the best deal, and pitted one group against the other. I did not realize that is what happened in IOWA. The O people were nasty and very pushy In fact it was voter intimidation. It was amazing to me that the outside world was never told what really went on there. They registered, and then it was really intimidation that determined what happen in that room. I saw voters move from one side of the room to the other (which I think was staged), and then intimidated other people to move over to their side. Having paper ballots is the least of it. On voting day, you have to stay so far from the polls, not wear pins and shirts as you vote.

Those rules do not apply in Iowa for the Primary That we let such a terrible primary system in Iowa to determine our Presdient, upsets me. It was far from Democratic inn 2008.

“Lie of the year”: Dem take on GOP Medicare vote – CBS News

Politicians aren’t always known for being the most honest people. Still, it’s hard to stand up and call them liars. But that’s just what the Pulitzer Prize-winning website PolitiFact.com does. It looks at what politicians say, then determines how honest they are. And at the end of the year, PolitiFact names the biggest political lie of the year. So what is that lie for 2011, according to PolitiFact?

That “Republicans voted to end Medicare,” Bill Adair, editor of PolitiFact and Washington bureau chief of the St. Petersburg Times, revealed on “The Early Show.” Check out Politifact’s full report here. “This was a claim we heard over and over again after the House voted in April on a budget by (Rep. Paul Ryan (R, Wis.). It’s just not true,” Adair said. “The way they say it, they say the House voted to end Medicare. That’s not what they did. The House voted to protect Medicare on people who are 55 or older, but to privatize it and restructure it in a dramatic way for people who are younger. It’s wrong to say ‘end Medicare’ and it’s the classic scare tactic we’ve seen targeting the elderly for many years….”

Christie: Obama should have stayed in the Senate

    by Charlie Spiering
    December 20, 2011

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, New Jersey governor Chris Christie criticized Obama this morning for completely failing the leadership test as President.

“Voting present in the Illinois state legislature doesn’t count,” said Christie, reminding the audience that Obama doesn’t have a record of leadership. “Not voting and not showing up in the United States Senate doesn’t count.”

“If he wanted to continue to be somebody who was a bystander he could have stayed in Congress his whole career and not be held accountable for anything.” Christie added.

Christie, who has endorsed Mitt Romney in the Republican primary, said that that Romney’s record of bi-partisan leadership would contrast well with Obama in the general election.

“Mitt Romney is going to be the Republican nominee for president,” he declared.

“I think when you see it come down to a choice between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama, you are going to see one person has had executive leadership in the private sector and as governor.” Christie said.

    Hillary? For real…? (Updated)

An email from Howard Rodman, vice president of the Writers Guild West, popped into my Yahoo account today. Good news about that Aleister Crowley biopic I wrote? Nope. That one went straight into some of the finest round files in town, and it never escaped.

Instead, Rodman spoke about something far more intriguing.
Today I got a robocall (!) telling me that the banksters would be in jail and unemployment ended and college would be affordable if Hillary were President. It directed me to runhillary2012.net

The site is minimal; and whois didn’t tell me anything of note. The site says it’s from “the 99%.”

Perhaps you can find out more? For whatever reason — and I could be very wrong — this seems to me more like ratfucking than like a genuine Hillary campaign.
Well, here it is. The graphic looks familiar. Is this adapted from an image used on one of the right-wing pro-Hillary sites back in 2008?

I can see why the Republicans would want to stir up dissent in Democratic ranks.

To be frank, the remarks about affordable college and full employment sound over-the-top to me. The real Hillary supporters — people like Riverdaughter and Dakinkat and so forth — don’t use such unrealistic terminology. They know that a Hillary presidency would not have been a paradise on earth (although I feel certain that the past three years would have been easier had she won).

Ratfucking operations are usually pretty obvious, because the people behind them never learned the virtues of subtlety. Robocalls are expensive to engineer and annoying to receive. I find it hard to believe that a shoestring operation run by genuine Clinton fans would opt go down that path.

I can’t trust any website which goes to such lengths to keep its proprietors hidden. Starting a political campaign is not like playing Batman: If you want to keep your identity secret, find another way to spend your time.

Internic tells us nothing about the owner except that runhillary2012.net was registered via GoDaddy on November 18, 2011. All of the extant messages on the chat boards seem to have been created within the past 24 hours; most of them are hostile to the very concept of a runhillary2012 site.

So…the whole operation looks like a fake to me. But whodunnit? That graphic may be our only clue. I feel sure that I’ve seen it, or something much like it, before.

Update: The image comes from Hillaryis44.org. I never really trusted that site. Are they behind the robocall effort? Where’s the money coming from?

Politico has given some publicity to the pro-Hillary robocalls. Since Politico leans right — well, make of it what you will.

Sam Stein at Huffington Post has also taken notice of the robocalls.
    The PUMAs are back.

A group of vocal Hillary Clinton supporters whose mantra during the 2008 election was “Party Unity My Ass” morphed into time into diehards who wanted the Secretary of State to either be elevated to vice president or consider another run for the White House…
    Shows what you know, Sam.

If this is a PUMA thing, then why didn’t Riverdaughter know about it? She started the damned movement. If runHillary2012 were legit, she’d have been part of it from the beginning.

Let’s rephrase: If this were a PUMA thing, why didn’t I know about it until just now? Granted, this site does not have the most impressive stats in the world, and I never officially joined the PUMA movement. (Or any other: To us curmudgeons, all movements are bowel movements). Even so, PUMA activists tended to frequent Cannonfire; this site is known to that community. If, during the past month, something like this had been in the wind, I would have gotten a whiff weeks ago.

    If it were legit.

Of course, there were — in a sense — two PUMAs. One was a genuine cry of outrage from disaffected Democrats who did not appreciate being called racists simply because they knew before the rest of the world that Obama was a fake. The other PUMA — the pseudo-PUMA movement, if you will — was a GOP “split the enemy” operation. If you run into someone who claims to love Hillary yet who also tries to convince you that Obama is a socialist (or an enemy of Israel, a line we’ve been hearing with increasing frequency of late), you’re dealing with a pseudo-PUMA.

The robocalls have been heard in New York, North Carolina, Florida and California. This is a genuine mystery.

The House voted Tuesday to disagree with the Senate-passed payroll tax bill, and to call for a House-Senate conference to sort out differences between the bills. The move is intended to put pressure on Senate Democrats to reconvene and meet with the House over the bill, even as Democrats say the Senate is done for the year. As predicted by Republican leaders on Sunday, the motion to disagree with the Senate was approved with the support of nearly every Republican. The motion was passed 229-193, and only 7 Republicans voting against it.

Talk about beating a dead horse.Visited a few of the sites admin referenced above and almost all of the waffles defenders in the comments sections say its about getting the black man out of the White House. Lisaque, that is one really dumb article you quote from. Aleister Crowley? Really? Somebody thinks he’s Kenneth Anger but lacks the talent.

The image of Hillary we use with the sunburst is from Hillary Clinton’s own campaign website – so this fool does not know what he/she is writing about.

As for the comment about Big Pink “I never really trusted that site” – screw you whoever wrote that garbage. In April of 2007 when we began to publish no other website was defending Hillary. We defended Hillary without apology and not in a namby pamby way. We do not apologize for our forthright defense and for being so totally correct about Barack Obama when others were still considering what they thought about him.

We attended the Democratic Party convention in Boston in 2004 and did not like the Obama speech then because anyone who thought there were “no red states, no blue states” was to us a total idiot. Our immediate impressions about Obama in 2004 were confirmed in 2008.

The swine who wrote that article says that “chat boards” (we presume this means hangouts for the Daily Kooks) for the most part are “hostile to the very concept of a runhillary2012 site.” Whooptie Doo! This nut also says that because Politico is a right wing rag (we attack Politico all the time) they are giving Draft Hillary attention. By that logic Sam Stein must be a right winger too because he also gave Draft Hillary attention. Some people are just too stupid to read.

Some Dems calling R’s grinch for ruining Christmas season with FICA controversy. Perfect opening for this from two years ago today:

Senate votes along party lines as White House-backed health care reform bill passes huge test
    BY KENNETH R. BAZINET
    DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU
    Sunday, December 20, 2009
WASHINGTON – The health care overhaul bill passed a key test when the Senate early Monday morning voted along party lines to end debate and move the bill forward. The White House-backed health bill got exactly 60 votes after a rare late-night session that ended after 1 a.m. as Democrats rush to pass the bill before Christmas. Liberal Democrats complain the health care plan that headed for Senate passage isn’t good enough, but congressional leaders predict the final version that comes out of Congress is not likely to change much. The bill promises to extend coverage to 30 million uninsured Americans without a government-supported option or opening Medicare to people older than 55.

Nobama, my nephews name is Matt. My sisters name is Joanna.
I am at work today to get things set up for my students for the next couple days before Xmas break. It is helping to have a day of normalcy as the next week and a half will be anything but normal.

Newt is NO threat to Hillary-

    ==================

Do you really want to see a POTUS Gingrich with the power to go after Bill and Hillary even in their private lives? Do you think he wouldn’t attack Bill’s CGI and whatever Hillary does next? Or try to dig out some old testimony and keep them under subpoena and being badgered 24/7?

Imagine Clinton Derangement Syndrome with the full powers of the White House.

  • henry

I was a bit confused by the PUMA movement. Seemed to just be an online movement and different sites were taking different stances. I am not criticizing it just giving an observation. felt like it morphed into a women’s movement. Which is understandable concerning the treatment of Hillary and Palin, but it didn’t seem welcoming to me as a man. Still like Murphy and Puma Pac but often forget its there.

  • Betty

Look what I found on Drudge:
“IOWA GOV: IGNORE PAUL WIN” and a link to a politico story with a headline asking “Will Ron Paul kill the caucuses?” Makes me want to run down there and help get out the vote for Paul.

    Here are a few paragraphs:

“Paul poses an existential threat to the state’s cherished kick-off status, say these Republicans, because he has little chance to win the GOP nomination and would offer the best evidence yet that the caucuses reward candidates who are unrepresentative of the broader party.

“It would make the caucuses mostly irrelevant if not entirely irrelevant,” said Becky Beach, a longtime Iowa Republican who helped Presidents Bush 41 and Bush 43 here. “It would have a very damaging effect because I don’t think he could be elected president and both Iowa and national Republicans wouldn’t think he represents the will of voters.”

Michelle Obama’s Travels Are Insensitive to Struggling Americans

    By Roy A. Barnes
    Mon, Dec 19, 2011

COMMENTARY | President Barack Obama has delayed his Hawaiian vacation as he awaits a payroll tax deal, according to the Daily Mail. But first lady Michelle Obama couldn’t wait to get to Hawaii, meaning taxpayers are expected to shell out more than $100,000 for her convenience of an added flight and related costs, according to White House Dossier.

And thus, this presidential family’s lavish travel habits are a slap to the face of citizens and reflect poorly on the president’s rhetoric about being in the corner of struggling Americans.

The first lady has shown past insensitivity to how she spends the people’s money regarding travel. She and the kids took a separate plane in the summer to Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., so they could be there four hours ahead of the president, costing the taxpayers thousands of dollars extra, the Daily Mail reported.

There’s no doubt that being a part of the president’s immediate family affords them the trappings of privilege and access that isn’t common to the masses, and needed security and staff costs are understandable. But that doesn’t mean the Obamas can’t do their part in making sure that expenses paid for by Americans are as minimal as possible.

It doesn’t matter whether or not past presidential families have traveled more often or racked up more expenses on the taxpayers’ tab for vacations because our president declared after winning the 2008 election, “The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep,” according to Time. We were all supposed to be in this struggle together, especially since RT recently reported about half of Americans are either classified as living below the poverty line or deemed “low income.”

Would it be that burdensome for the first lady to wait to accompany the president on expensive vacations, especially since this Hawaii trip is costing taxpayers more than $4 million, according to the Hawaii Reporter? To waste more than $100,000 on separate flights when many in this nation can’t afford to take a vacation in their backyards undermines the Democratic Party’s stands on behalf of the “99 percent.”

Progressives are being let down by the first lady’s need for lavish convenience billed to the taxpayers.

    For anyone interested,

Bill Clinton is being interviewed for the very first time on The O’Reilly Factor tonight.

  • turndownobama

    Gingrich vs Hillary? Another thought.

Suppose Gingrich beats Obama and we have POTUS Gingrich from 2012-2016. That might set Hillary up for the Dem nomination in 2016.

But Gingrich would know that, and would know Hillary was a big danger to him. So he’d put all his Presidential power to pre-emptively destroying her, from the moment he took office.

He may go easy on her now, because he wants some PUMA votes. But once he’s got elected and doesn’t need us, then he’d go after her and Bill to destroy their influence for 2016.

Sounds archaic and harsh to some but big family and we are always there. Watched more junior high school girls basketball than I can count. No way I would ever miss a niece’s game. Whole family is like that. Never gonna hear some kind little words from me or my brothers but will always be there ready with a gentle slap to the back of the head. Draft Hillary Clinton as the 2012 Democratic Nominee for President
3,192 Letters and Emails Sent So Far
Draft Hillary Clinton as the 2012 Democratic Nominee for President
Mr. President, Madam Secretary of State, Madam Chair of the DNC, Distinguished DNC Members and Superdelegates:

We, the undersigned Democrats, want a new Democratic nominee for President who can win in 2012. We are convinced that the only person with the national stature, experience, and high enough approval ratings who can win the general election in November of 2012 is Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Mr. President, we thank you for your service. However, we must ask you to do the right thing for your Party and your country and step aside, much like Lyndon Baines Johnson did in 1968 when he read the writing on the wall as to his own chances for victory. Renomination is not mandatory, nor is it a right. It is a privilege granted by us, “We the People.” On faith, the Party and the nation gave you a chance as a newcomer with little experience to lead us out of the wilderness of recession. We must now ask for the keys back to the Party and to the White House.

Likewise, Madam Secretary, we thank you for your exceptional service to our country as its top diplomat. Your leadership is what this country needs at this crucial time in our nation’s history. We respectfully ask you to submit your resignation from the State Department in order to begin a general election campaign for President of the United States, effective immediately. In your heart, Madam Secretary, you know you are the only one with the experience and stature enough to lead this nation through its most difficult hour. We ask you to accept this challenge. We urge you to have the confidence that Senator Robert Kennedy showed in 1968 when he challenged an unpopular President for the Democratic nomination, causing President Lyndon Johnson to withdraw from the race. It is not lost on us that you once held Bobby Kennedy’s United States Senate Seat, and like Senator Kennedy, serve in a President’s Cabinet. As first lady, you have said you most related to Eleanor Roosevelt. Now we call up you to relate to her husband, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and lead us out of our modern day “Great Depression” as our 45th President of the United States..

And to the Democratic National Committee Chair, Vice Chairs, and Distinguished DNC Members as well as the Superdelegate Members, make no mistake: under NO circumstance will we cast a vote for your current predetermined choice for nominee, Barack Obama. We will not fall in line like last time in 2008 when we were asked to be “good little Democrats” for the sake of the Party. We all know how that worked out. We are fully prepared to take matters into our own hands and launch our own massive write-in campaign, much like Senator Murkowski’s successful write-in campaign in Alaska.

We, the signers of this Petition, do not accept the Democratic National Committee’s current nominee for President of the United States, Barack Obama. We have signed this declaration because of the following:

    1. 23% real unemployment; The 9.1% or 8.6% rate does not reflect workers who have exhausted their benefits (99ers) or discouraged workers who have given up looking for jobs that are not out there.
    2. Health Care Bill: Public Option Taken Off Table Before Negotiations Began; Still No Affordable Health Care
    3. Under-funded stimulus
    4. Failed Financial Regulation
    5. Threats to Cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid
    6. Response to Gulf Oil Spill Insufficient and Delayed: This Administration’s Katrina
    7. Anemic Response to Haitian Relief
    8. Extension of Bush Tax Cuts After Campaign Promise to End Them
    9. Afghanistan War: The Promised 2011 Exit Delayed
    10. Response to DOMA Too Little Too Late; Respect for Marriage Act purely ceremonial and an olive branch to base to assist reelection with little effect in the divided Congress
    11. Support for National Defense Authorization Act’s unlawful military detention of citizens without trial
    12. Unapologetic use of unmanned drones in Pakistan, killing innocent civilians; use of spy drones in Iran, provoking an already volatile situation between Iran and Israel
    13. Failure to consult with Congress per the War Powers Act before committing troops to Libya, even at the request of the Speaker of the House.
    14. Using the Office of the President to secure a $500 million loan of taxpayer money for the risky energy firm Solyndra, despite White House emails acknowledging the firm’s financial troubles; requesting the firm delay its scheduled layoffs until after the 2010 midterm elections.
    15. Failure to accept responsibility in the ‘Fast and Furious’ / ‘Gunwalker’ covert mission which resulted in the murder of border patrol agent Brian Terry; failure to request resignations within the Justice Department, despite Congress’ demands to do so.
    16. Failure to prosecute even one Wall Street executive or banker responsible for practices which led to financial collapse, under false claim that no laws were broken.

So now “We, the People,” implore you, for the sake of the Party and of the country, to reconsider your choice for the 2012 Democratic Presidential Nomination. We all witnessed the tremendous losses to our Party in last fall’s mid-term elections. It is time to admit that the path chosen in 2008 is not working out, and that as a Party we need to nominate Hillary Rodham Clinton as the 2012 Democratic Presidential Nominee.

    An update to our article:

What does that tell everyone? 👿

A mayor in Connecticut wants to allow any adult to vote, no matter whether they are in the U.S. legally. Bloomberg has made some comments about voter eligibility as well.

    bwaaaahhhaaaaahhhaaaaa

    http://conservativeamericaonline.blogspot.com/2011/12/obama-to-clinton-youre-racist-clinton.html
Obama To Clinton: “You’re A Racist.” Clinton Calls Obama: “The Worst President Ever.”

Only one week after reporting that Michelle Obama may be having a “steamy secret affair” with a Secret Service agent, The Globe has just unleashed another bombshell that may very well sink the foundering Obama Regime. According to the Globe, long-standing tensions between Barack Obama and Bill Clinton reached the boiling point during a recent golf outing at Andrews Air Force Base.

According to multiple unnamed sources, Clinton has been confiding to close pals that Obama is “the worst President ever” and his presidency is a “sinking ship” that is “taking the Democratic party and the country down with him,” and when Obama confronted him on the comments, Clinton looked him in the eye and said; “Yes, it’s a fact.” The Globe reports: “At that point, the source adds, Obama went ballistic and told the ex-Prez; ‘Then you are a racist and no different than the rest of them.'”

There’s certainly much more to this story than a gossipy accusation from a supermarket tabloid. While the information apparently comes from multiple unnamed sources, it is not in dispute that there is a long history of disgusting and highly politicized accusations of racism against Clinton from Obama’s surrogates over the years. During the 2008 primary campaign, CNN political analyst Donna Brazile, Obama spokeswoman Candice Tolliver and a number of others repeatedly implied that Clinton’s comments on Obama’s lack of experience and his “fairy-tale image” were racially motivated.

And charges of racism against Clinton by Team Obama have not gone away. As recent as January of 2010, Al Sharpton played the race card against Clinton in reference to Obama on the Sean Hannity show, and the ongoing onslaught of accusations is clearly getting under Clinton’s skin. In September of 2009, Clinton even went so far as to defend conservatives against slanderous accusations by former-President Jimmy Carter that racism drives Obama’s opponents: “I believe that 100 percent of those who are opposing him now would be against him if he were a white Democrat.”

And while the media perpetually attempts to sugar-coat Obama’s falling poll numbers, it is secretly and widely acknowledged, even from within Obama’s inner circle, that his presidency is a “sinking ship.” Fox News Political analyst, Pat Caddell, a life-long Democratic operative recently stated: “He’s [Obama] in deep trouble” and added, “Even if he wins, he can’t govern.” Previously, Caddell went on record to say what is now, only a whisper in the corridors of power in Washington; namely, that Obama should announce that he is not going to seek a second term: “Obama should announce immediately that he will not be a candidate for reelection in 2012.” Caddell added that Obama “has largely lost the consent of the governed.”

And polling numbers only drive the point home. A recent Associated Press poll indicates that 52 percent of Americans believe “Obama should be voted out of office” and only 43 percent believe Obama deserves reelection. Interestingly, when Time Magazine reported the poll results, the editors spun the results and reported in the article’s headline that Obama’s reelection chances were “50-50.” The Associated Press, in its reporting, also editorialized the results claiming that for “the first time” a majority of adults “believe that Obama should be voted out of office.”

But it’s not the “first time.” Back in April of 2010, CNN reported that “52 percent said the President does not deserve to be re-elected, while 44 percent said that he does” and while Obama’s poll numbers go up and down, they have trended dangerously low over the past two years and the liberal media is doing everything in its power to spin what is becoming a foregone conclusion.

The recent resurgence of the Obama-Clinton feud doesn’t help matters for Obama. It’s no secret that Hillary Clinton, even if Obama pulls off a miracle and wins reelection, will not serve another term as Secretary of State and abandonment by the Clintons will certainly mean that Obama will have difficulty in raising the one billion dollars that he anticipates putting into his campaign coffers.

And now that the man behind the curtain has been exposed, will the media continue to go to bat for Obama or will the media honestly investigate stories that have remained hidden for far too long such as the accusations of homosexuality from Larry Sinclair, the Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers connections and the credible accusations from a number of graphics experts that Obama’s long-form birth certificate is indeed forged? Only time will tell.

ObamaCare Flatlines…Taxes Home Sales (4% Federal Tax on Houses)

Obama promised in the 08′ campaign:

“I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes,” President Obama, September 12, 2008

Beginning January 1, 2013, ObamaCare imposes a 3.8% Medicare tax on unearned income of “high-income” taxpayers which could apply to proceeds from the sale of single family homes, townhouses, co-ops, condominiums, and even rental income, depending on your individual circumstances and any capital gains tax exclusions. Importantly, the “high income” thresholds are not indexed for inflation so will reach increasing numbers of middle-class taxpayers over time.

Gingrich assails Romney for ‘smear campaign’

    By SHANNON McCAFFREY AP

OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich lashed out at Mitt Romney on Tuesday, accusing his chief rival of a “negative smear campaign” fueled by a political action committee with close ties to the former Massachusetts governor.

“Understand, these are his people running his ads, doing his dirty work while he pretends to be above it,” Gingrich told reporters after a campaign appearance at a heavy machinery plant in Ottumwa, Iowa. “I don’t object to being outspent. I object to lies. I object to negative smear campaigns.”

Gingrich has pledged to remain “relentlessly positive” as he campaigns for the GOP nod for the White House. He said on Tuesday that he wasn’t violating that promise but simply correcting the record.

On Tuesday, Romney said in an appearance on MSNBC that super PACs have been “a disaster.” But he refused to urge the group Restore Our Future to halt the attacks on Gingrich, saying that the law prohibits his campaign and such groups to coordinate.

“I’m not allowed to communicate with a super PAC in any way, shape or form,” Romney said. “If we coordinate in any way whatsoever, we go to the big house.”

A fired-up Gingrich read Romney’s remarks to reporters and then promptly labeled them “baloney.” He again urged Romney to demand that the negative spots be taken down.

Gingrich said Restore Our Future was created by Romney’s former staff and funded by “his personal friends.”

Gingrich’s own former top aide, Rick Tyler, has joined a pro-Gingrich PAC called Winning Our Future. The former House speaker said he would expect the PAC to adhere to his positive strategy.

“If Rick Tyler runs a single negative ad, I will disown the PAC and discourage anyone from giving them a penny,” he said.

“Now the governor had a very easy way to do the same thing and for him to say he couldn’t find the people who gave that money and he couldn’t get them to put pressure on the PAC to be reasonable is just purely dishonest,” Gingrich said.

Gingrich has seen his candidacy slide in polls as a barrage of ads attacking him blanket the Iowa airwaves in advance of the state’s first-in-the-nation caucuses Jan. 3. He has been trying to counter the assault while still maintaining a positive campaign.

Even so, questions over the sharp tone of the race have grabbed the spotlight, even among voters who decry heavy-handed tactics.

During Gingrich’s remarks to about 100 people at the Al-Jon Manufacturing plant in eastern Iowa, one voter asked Gingrich about a political mailing he had received describing the former congressman as a globalist.

“I think these guys hire consultants who get drunk, sit around and write stupid ads,” Gingrich replied. “Every one of these candidates should take responsibility for the lies they are putting up”.

    Romney’s Problem with Main St.

    Interesting article:

    …snip…

“Mitt Romney can’t seem to break over the mid-20s level in any national polls. Part of it has to do with Romney’s flip-flops in various campaigns, but I think voter uncertainty runs deeper than that. Some of his supporters tell us that since Romney is a successful businessman, he is the candidate with the widest appeal in a poor economy. They claim that he knows how to create jobs. I think that given the recent history of financial bubbles and crony capitalist scams, more people are asking whether Romney really made anything of value — or did he skim off what others have made? Is he the answer for a more prosperous future, or does his business career embody how America slid off the economic tracks?

Let me start with how we perceive the sources of wealth. In C.J. Box’s recent novel Cold Wind, about a murder on a massive government-subsidized Wyoming wind farm, the colorful defense attorney Marcus Hand becomes philosophical about rich men he has known. According to the fictional Hand (based loosely on real-life Wyoming lawyer Gerry Spence), the rich fall into only three groups: those who had it handed to them, those who created it, and those who skimmed it from others. Hand’s assessment of these three types impressed me as being right on the money.

According to Hand, those who had their wealth given to them often feel a sense of entitlement. He meets the ones where that attitude led them to think that they could get away with breaking the law. He wryly notes that even when he successfully defends this type, they often meet a bad end: “Many of them have such self-loathing that it’s contagious.” While most Americans don’t think that inherited wealth is bad, they have scant sympathy for those who act as if winning the sperm lottery allows them to break the rules. Support for OWS rapidly faded when it became known that many of the protesters were of affluent backgrounds and had both an outsized sense of entitlement and a propensity for uncouth if not outright illegal behavior.

Entrepreneurs and risk-takers form Hand’s second group. In Hand’s words, “These are the truly creative mad geniuses. They are quintessentially American. They produce real things — widgets, ideas, devices, inventions, you name it.” These people are often self-made, starting near the bottom of their line of work, and they rise by recognizing unmet needs. Hand states that he earns large fees from this type because they would rather fight to prove their innocence than plea bargain or pay a civil fine. Then, because they do want to keep what they earned, they dispute his bill.”

So, Bill Clinton goes on O’Reilly and is now on record as not being enemies with Gingrich, and acknowledges tha credit should also be given to Congress for the success of his administration. Bill did not have to acknowledge this, but he has dine so which is the honest thing to do. Newt deserves some credit because he eventually came around to working with President Clinton to get the country on track. Bill basically said this as far as I can decipher. Turndownobama’s brain must be sparking right now. Even Bill has been cautious about attacking Newt, and I believe it is because of his fairness in giving credit where credit is due.

  • nomobama

I don’t know if it is just me, but I won’t be signing the aforementioned petition, at least not how it is written. The list of reasons given for why Obama should not be running again contains things that I do not and have not supported in the past. Troop withdrawal from Afghanistan? At this point in time, no! Single payer system? No. There’s probably more, but these immediately stuck out. I guess I am a Democrat of a different cloth. Maybe I am now a DINO. Great if Hillary replaces Obama on the Democrat ticket. That truly believe.

I was talking with my friend who was a former liberal Democrat who is now and independent conservative. He is not a Clinton fan, either Bill or Hillary. He voted for Reagan, but he also voted for Clinton the first time. He has said to me that he would have preferred Hillary in office as opposed to Obama who he believes is a communist. Anyway, the one thing that he said to me that has been rolling around in my brain is that the powers behind the scenes wanted Obama to win the presidency. I personally believe that to be true. What he then said bothered me because I now wonder about if it is true. He said that the Clintons and Obamas are of this same group, and that the Clintons were “bought” to stand down against Obama. Hillary’s debt was to be paid off, and she was to be given a job of her choice in the Obama administration. Are the Clintons of this group that threw their support behind Obama, whatever this “group” is? If so, why was there a rift in this group, with two members, Hillary and Barack, eventually going all out to try to destroy each other. I am wondering what the real reasons were for the pushing of Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton. Did Obama and Hillary hail from the same wing of the Democratic party?

Most of the tale told to you by your friend is utter nonsense. The only truism is, ( and I think that fact can be debated) the Clintons are democrats as Obama claims to be. We really don’t know: who or what Obama is- we don’t know (for sure) where he was born, who his parents were, never viewed his HS or College transcripts/thesis. Never viewed his voting record during his tenure as a state senator. As is the custom in presidential races, Obama never offered to pay Hillary’s campaign debt. She has had to find a way to pay for it herself..

Do you really want me to go on… or are the bells I’m hearing from my left leg you are pulling? You can’t really be so uninformed that the questions your friend has posed to you; you are unable to answer them yourself. yes?

Ann Curry asked him basically the same question. Bill responded much the same in the O’Reilly interview. At this point in time Newt Gingrich is an ally.. He is the strongest debater the GOP has to offer. As the GOP’s nominee, he will annihilate Obama just by bludgeoning him with facts pointing to the mistakes he’s made and poor judgement calls during his last 3 yrs in office. Hillary has nothing to fear if she is drafted by the nominating committee and facing Newt. She is as skilled in her knowledge of history and political warfare if not better than Newt-
The deciding factor are the voters.. people fear Newt as unstable and as president. As opposed to the memories of strength and command of the facts shown by Hillary’s in 08′ campaign. Every proposal Hillary made during her campaign was backed by a feasible plan.. In direct contrast to the “Hope and Change” campaign of broken promises sold to AAs and the youth voters bused in an paid for their vote by Obama operatives (Iowa).

Obama had his chance to get to work and prove his metal… He chose golfing and vacations using the office of the presidency to lavish percs on himself and the fat lady he lives with.. Stick a fork in him, he’s done!
    …..

Bill did not have to acknowledge this, but he has dine so which is the honest thing to do. Newt deserves some credit because he eventually came around to working with President Clinton to get the country on track. Bill basically said this as far as I can decipher.

I read it and found my self thinking: who are the “party elders” and aren’t they the same people who engaged countenanced lying, cheating, thuggery, vote theft, and some people even believe murder, to place their choice in the WH? Do we really believe that if they “give the nod” to Hillary they will suddenly be honest citizens and not the lying, cheating thugs we all know they are. Admin is right, the democratic party must be burnt to the ground.

And who are they: That Roosevelt puke, Chuck Schumer, who else?

Why should we believe that if they tell Obama to “stand down” whoever they tell to “stand up” will serve anyone but themselves?

I would like to see Hillary make a total assault on the democrat party from an independent stance. But who am I to ask anyone face the brutal assault from both parties and their media lickies that will surly follow.

With regards to your response, all I can say is that it is time for the little people to take back what has been taken from them by the elite in this country be they the Democrat elite or the Republican elite. They are robbing us of our heritage. We need to go back to this nation’s founding principles which were based on limited government with clearly defined roles of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. Today we have this behemoth monster of a government which has been hijacked by the elite of all persuasions who do not give a crap about anyone else. The US government should not be their play thing. It’s time to evict these people, and their sychophants.

Betty, you are right about the corrupt “leadership” that destroyed the Democratic Party. Don’t believe them.

However, the point of what we have written, increasingly others too, is that the “party leaders” of the Obama Dimocratic Party might act to remove him – out of self interest and self interest alone. They don’t want to lose power or the perks of power and that is what motivates these cheating lying thugs.

We too would like to see Hillary take on the fight you would like to see. In a way, Hillary is already engaged in that fight – as she rises they weaken.

Mrs. Smith, I am not totally uninformed. I respond to my friend when I disagree with him as I did in this case, but that’s not to say that he had me thinking about what is behind the governmental mask of this country, and how the politiciand of all political stripes interact with these people in the shadows. I do not like feeling that the government has been hijacked, and that we seem to be headed for self-destruction because of the actions of our “betters”. I am tired of the political games, and of politicians enriching themselves at the government trough. One would think that anyone making themselves rich while in government should be viewed as a pariah, yet big shots in our government make a career out of it, and do pretty well for themselves at the same time. I am just disgusted with everything, and for me right now, almost all politicians are suspect. I want term limits in Congress and judiciary. There should be no means available for making government employees rich while in office. I also wonder what can be done to prevent former politicians from becoming lobbyists which implies that they cannot be trusted. Rick Perry talks about part time jobs as far as legislators are comcerned. I am interested in that concept.

I can’t wait for Hillary and Bill to take the gloves off when she tells Barry to take his job and shove it!

Think of it this way- the higher the poll numbers the further he has to fall after the first of the New Year.. A Higher poll number has given Obama a false sense of security as he flys away on AF1 to his vacation Mecca… Hawaii thinking he’s overcome all the hurdles put before him, leaving town with the public in his corner. And self-assured he’s done a wonderful job managing to force the Republicans to do his bidding. The object always was for the Republicans to be seen as the villains in this last congressional scuffle and as expected Obama is seen as a great American hero giving people $20.00 more a week in their pay checks! BS! Unemployment is unlikely to drop to 8%, jbstonesfan. Anytime it would seem that companies are hiring, more people who have given up in their job search will enter the job market. This will inflate the reported unemployment rate. You see, the only reason unemployment is dropping is because a lot have been discouraged to look for jobs. So NO!!! Unemployment is NOT dropping below 8% before the next elections. It will continue to hover at 9% and possibly higher.

Also, your statement that it is hard to see anyone beating him is not helping the meme that he is going down. You are acting as his cheerleader in this message board.

A very interesting take from Ulsterman ont BC’s response to O’Reilly about the media carrying water for BO.

“Upon watching this video, you can almost hear Bill Clinton raise the accusation of “illegitimate” when it comes to Barack Obama’s victory in 2008. While such news is not new to those actually paying attention to the past and present that is Obama – to have it laid out in a public forum by the now elders statesman of the Democratic Party is fascinating to behold. Pay particular attention to when the former president indicates “it was more than that”, regarding the media’s favortism of the “more liberal candidate”. Is he hinting at a much deeper and collusive conspiracy within the media to elect Barack Obama?’

  • AmericanGal

Jbstonesfan…seriously…quit obsessing on poll numbers. They naturally go up and down. There’s no identifiable legitimate reason for Obama’s numbers to increase at this time. Polls fluctuate for multiple reasons…right now its Xmas and people are in a charitable mood. They also have their minds on things other than politics. Also, as already mentioned, some polls are just outliers–individual readings that don’t match others taken by other reputable organizations in the same time frame with similar participant–thus likely to be faulty. Data has to be repeatable across the board for it to be valid. There hasn’t been a groundswell in rising poll numbers all over the place anytime recently that I have seen…

Everyone’s contributions to this board are valued but the only comments you make are pronouncements that Obama is unbeatable–if this is your personal belief fine but why would you keep posting the same thing over and over on a board where clearly we do not agree and do not agree with the evidence you claim proves it?

  • sirmrks

I dont read Rush much… but folks regarding the poll numbers, unemployment and the rainbows/unicorns that will spout from the medias asses until the election day next year.

prepare to be lied to as never before as they try to protect obama and make his idiocy look good.

“I’m being told I need to repeat this. Look, I’m repeating this, I did it last week, I’m repeating this because two people just saw it for the first time today and told me about it. And I said, “No, no, I did this last week,” but I’m reminding you again, doing these two pieces again because we’re in the onslaught of all of this negative assault on you and what you think and the Republican Party while unemployment’s going down and Obama’s going up, and I’m just warning you, this is what you’re gonna be hit with times ten from now ’til Election Day in November, and I’m trying to make sure you don’t get dispirited here by giving you a foundation of stuff that is true that’s not being reported, that will be huge factors.

The Republicans, I don’t care, Romney, Gingrich, I don’t care who they are, ought to pick these two points of interest up and make them part of the campaign. They haven’t so far. But this is all because, folks, I’m concerned. I know how you’re gonna get hit, and I know how difficult it is to not be affected by a media onslaught. Even I, El Rushbo, as aware and knowledgeable of who these people are and what they do and how they do it and how they try to do it, even I if I let my guard down for a split second can get sucked in. And I just know that over the course of the next 12 months I’m gonna be getting phone calls, “Rush, it’s over, you see this?” This is why I’m trying to make you see. It’s not over. It’s nowhere near over. If it’s over for anybody right now it’s over for Obama, and the efforts that the media is going to be making from now to November is evidence that if the election were today, it’s over.”
    snip…
“The media’s job from now ’til November is to wear you down. They never sleep. They’re going to wear you down, dispirit you, get you depressed, think that Obama’s rebounding, loved, and as popular as ever before, along with his policies. They’re gonna claim to have evidence the unemployment number is gonna improve. They’ll be able to stage some events with newly hired workers who will thank Obama and his policies, get ready for all of this. And you’re also gonna get dispirited, I’m gonna throw this in, too, because whoever the Republican nominee is probably will not be satisfying on the campaign trail.”

so folks listen to admin read between the lines and dont believe the bullshit that going to be thrown in every direction as the try to convince you that obamas policies are roses wrapped in their newspaper and not the dead fish that you can smell but not see because they wave it at you but wont let you open it.

again sorry for posting rush 😉

As the GOP’s nominee, he will annihilate Obama just by bludgeoning him with facts pointing to the mistakes he’s made and poor judgement calls during his last 3 yrs in office. Hillary has nothing to fear if she is drafted by the nominating committee and facing Newt.

    ======================

So you want Gingrich actually nominated?

Sure, IF Hillary were the Dem nominee, she might well beat Gingrich in Nov 2012.

But what we have to fear is Obama as Dem nominee losing to Gingrich. Then we have President Gingrich with four years to use the power of the WH to preemptively destroy both Clintons.

The polls are the first thing I check everyday on RCP…it’s just a habit(maybe a bad one) , but I do not discount them . When he was in the low 40’s, from a historic perspective, he faced a very difficult re-election bid. The gradual increase may only be temporary, but it is nonetheless important.
Also, unlike some of the great bloggers here, I am not a blogger nor profess to be. I joined this site because I am a Hillary Clinton fan and needed place to vent my anger/depression over what happened. I truly appreciate and admire what the administrator does and the many of you who are real insiders and worked the trenches for Hillary. The last thing I am is an Obama cheerleader as his presidency resulted my leaving the democratic party and voting for people I ordinarily would never have considered.
