Dump Obama Or Die Day, Part III – The Special Prosecutor Edition

Update: Didn’t we write this last year? Or was it the year before or the year before that? Whenever… We repeated it yesterday (down below).

Anyway, John Fund is now talking about a bunch of Obama Dimocrats going to Obama and screaming “GET OUT!!!!” (and that plucky blond lady gets mentioned too):

“Via Breitbart TV, skip ahead to 3:05 for the tasty part. Three months ago this would have been a zero-probability event. Today, with the economy comatose and the world on the precipice of a new European-driven financial crisis? One-percent chance, minimum. Note that Fund’s not talking about a primary challenge here; that would alienate black Democrats and the party would fracture before the general election, so it’s not an option. The only way to dump him and hold the base together would be if he agreed to step down after Democratic chieftains privately appealed to him to do so. [snip]

“Therefore, I’m announcing tonight…” etc. He goes out on a high note, he sets Hillary up for another historic presidency, and suddenly Democrats are on strong (or stronger) footing for the election — especially given the Clinton legacy of economic boom times.

Buyer’s remorse is right.

We occasionally think that it is time for us to stop writing new articles here at Big Pink. Perhaps, we’ve thought, all we should do is publish the date of earlier articles we have written and request readers go back several years and read articles that are as fresh today as when originally written.

For example, in December of 2008 we wrote Time For A Special Prosecutor To Investigate Barack Obama, Part I:

“A Special Prosecutor needs to investigate the role of the government funded Obama transition members and contacts between the mothership of Chicago’s Culture of Corruption and its expansion to the nation’s capital.”

In Time For A Special Prosecutor To Investigate Barack Obama, Part II we wrote:

The multi-headed Hydra which is the Obama Chicago Culture Of Corruption is growing another head in Washington, D.C. and a special prosecutor is needed in Washington while Patrick Fitzgerald stabs at the Hydra in Chicago.”

Unfortunately the Hydra has grown so many heads since we wrote that article that not only a series of Special Prosecutors must be appointed but the House of Representatives must convene an armada of investigations to lop off heads.

It is a mystery why House Republicans have yet to locate Antoin “Tony” Rezko or ask him questions, which answers will assist investigations into the modus operandi of recent Obama corruptions.

The DailyCaller DailyBeast has an example of transactions desperately in need of a Torquemada. A very respected four-star general has accused the White House of pressuring him to change his testimony before the U.S. Congress in order to benefit an Obama donor. This “LightSquared” scandal is the latest darkness from the corruption dens of Chicago Obama.

Chicago Clown
* * * * * *

Some reality: A bus has just rolled over you. Both arms and both legs have felt the heavy weight of the wheels. Blood vessels, choked full as the flattened veins squeeze their red juices into the remaining vessels, burst like paintguns. Blood is everywhere. What to do?

You either amputate those limbs or die.

If the limbs are not amputated, gangrene will be the cause of death. Amputate or die. That is the hospital Obama Dimocrats find themselves in today.

The choice is stark. Political surgeons better sharpen their scalpels.

* * * * * *

A new issue, a new avenue to remove Barack Obama has opened up. It’s called Solyndra and as Republican House Chair Fred Upton has said, Solyndra might just be “the tip of the iceberg”.

Hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars which profited an Obama donor given to a scam:

“While we were out there, while we were building it – cause it is a half a billion dollar plant – everyone already knew that China had developed a more inexpensive way to manufacture these solar panels. Everyone knew that the plant wouldn’t work. But they still did it. They still built it.”

“Also worth note is that NBC did a pretty damning report this morning on the Solyndra scandal”:

Big Media has tried to cover up the Solyndra story but now even Obama lovin’ NBC has been forced to report on it.

This story is about corruption. There is a strong case to be made for green technologies, but this story is not about green technologies even as subsidies to green technology jobs are raising new questions. It is about corruption Chicago style. The FBI has raided Solyndra headquarters already but the fear that Eric Holder’s FBI is more interested in protecting Barack Obama than in prosecuting corruption is a real fear.

Republicans in Congress must investigate and there must be someone appointed to prosecute wrongdoing. If Obama Dimocrats want to politically remove Barack Obama they can join Republicans and not protect Obama.

In the wake of Tuesday’s special election (and in a new Gallup poll which has 1 in 4 Jews disapproving of Obama) James Carville wrote today that it was time for Obama to panic. Carville’s “advice” came in an article written for CNN.

James Carville’s advice was not just to panic. Carville wants Obama to fire a lot of his henchmen and to prosecute Wall Street players.

“Carville said Democrats are “past sending out talking points” and said he would tell the president, “The time has come to demand a plan of action that requires a complete change from the direction you are headed.”

Carville’s advice: “Fire. Indict. Fight.”

Obama must fire someone – “No – fire a lot of people” — because the current team is just not working, Carville wrote. [snip]

It’s not going to work with the same team, the same strategy, and the same excuses,” he wrote.

His next piece of advice is to indict people and hold them responsible for the country’s current economic state. If Attorney General Eric Holder can’t offer good explanations as to the state of these investigations, “fire him too.”

“Demand answers to why no one has been indicted,” he wrote. “Mr. President, people are livid. Tell people that you, too, are angry and sickened by the irresponsible actions on Wall Street that caused so much suffering. Do not accept excuses. Demand action now.”

Putting aside the mistake of further politicizing the so-called Department of Justice, Carville is wrong not to demand that Obama explain his own actions on Solyndra (and other suspect actions like that Rezko house) and the actions of his White House culprits.

Carville is the featherless canary in the coal mine. Many senate Obama Dimocrats are now openly saying that the fake “jobs bill” is dead on arrival.

Politico reports on the “open season” against Obama by Obama Dimocrats:

“It’s open season on President Barack Obama — and that’s just from members of his own party.

With frustration and disappointment mounting from stinging defeats in Tuesday’s two special elections and over Obama’s jobs plan, the media is filled on Thursday with Democrats on the record publicly questioning and doubting the president and some of his policies, and a few even unleashing biting criticism.

Former Texas Rep. Martin Frost told the Wall Street Journal that the Republicans’ decisive victories in New York and Nevada on Tuesday make it clear that Obama needs “to get it together.” [snip]

Rep. Eliot Engel, a Bronx Democrat, offered his harsh take on the party’s loss in the New York special, focusing his attack on the president’s stance on Israel. [snip]

“Maybe this will send a message,” he added.

And Democrats are increasingly voicing their distaste for parts of Obama’s new jobs plan, the New York Times reported. [snip]

Democratic Sen. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania said he was concerned about the plan being offered as a single bill, telling the Times: “I think the American people are very skeptical of big pieces of legislation. For that reason alone I think we should break it up.”

Several Democratic senators also picked apart Obama’s jobs plan in POLITICO, with Sen. Jim Webb of Virginia saying the president’s ideas for how to pay for it are “terrible.”

Senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana suggested the Obama “pass this bill” is just a ploy, a fake, “Maybe it’s just for his election, which I hope isn’t the case.” The former Governor of Ohio, who strapped his campaign to Moby Dick and that is why he is now the former governor, is disturbed about potential Obama treachery on Social Security. “A few members of Obama’s party even want a primary challenge to the president, The Hill reported.”

Obama lovin’ Politico also reported that even in “blue states” Barack Obama is “moving unmistakably in the wrong direction.” ‘“It is not, per se, a Democratic problem, it’s a problem with this president,” said Siena spokesman Steve Greenberg.”

The Hopium is wearing off:

“Whether split out by race, age or anything else, just about every cross-tab tells the same story: a good portion of those who danced in the streets on election night and stood for hours in the cold on the Mall for the inauguration have begun to wander away. [snip]

They’re complaining that Obama is all rhetoric.…”

How many times in 2007/2008 did we discuss the difference between flowery words and a life of action? At the Kingdom of the Kooks, reality begins to dawn:

“Honestly, I think Obama was over-rated. Any Dem could have won in 2008.”

This past August we ruminated on what it would take to run Obama out of town. We wondered if it would take a Chewbacca to tell Solo it is time to go.

It is now clearer that when we first wrote it years ago that it will be elected officials terrified of their own election prospects that will have to pull a Goldwater and tell Obama to go back to Chicago. They will eventually have to melt down their gold plated calf because donors and the rank and file they defied in 2008 will force them to do so.

If Obama will not listen to these officials when they tell him “Get out!” then they will have to play hardball and agree with Republicans that it is time to unleash Special Prosecutors.

An army of surgeon Torquemadas will amputate Obama from the body politic. It’s time to Dump Obama Or Die.

  1. Head scratcher: Barry Manilow likes Ron Paul.

Grammy award-winning musician Barry Manilow told The Daily Caller that he agrees with “just about everything” 2012 Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul says, calling him a “solid” contender for the highest office in the land.

“I like him. I like what he says, I do. I like what he says. I think he’s solid,” said Manilow, who confirmed to TheDC in an interview at the Capitol on Thursday that he contributed to Paul’s last campaign for president.

“I agree with just about everything he says. What can I tell you?” Manilow added.

  2. James Carville is a Clinton loyalist to the very end and I am hopeful that his comments open up the flood gates for other traditional democrats to express their dismay at the abject failure that has been Barack Obama. This is the only possible way to get Hillary back in the picture(assuming she would even be interested after the way they f– her over). Another telling sign will be if the MSM will continue to cover up for their “prodigal son” or actually show some journalistic integrity and demand accountability this time around.

  3. A world gone nuts. Kiss of death: Jimmy Carter likes Romney.

“I’m not taking a position, but I would be very pleased to see him win the Republican nomination,” Carter said on an interview on MSNBC set to air Thursday night.

Carter also said he appreciated that Rep. Bachmann (R-Minn.) worked on Carter’s presidential campaign in 1976. Bachmann has mentioned how she was a Democrat during college but switched parties after because she disagreed with certain foreign and domestic policies of the left.

“I know, and I appreciate that she helped me out!,” Carter said.

Carter expressed confidence that Obama would be reelected.

  4. Carter never met a Palestinian he didn’t like. A sad excuse for a President and disgrace to our country. It took Bill Clinton to bring the dems back from the harm Carter did to our nation. Now we have Carter #2 in office and America may never recover from the damage he has caused.

  5. I admit I haven’t read this post yet, and I will after this short note.
I got snagged into buying one of those trash papers in the store on the way home tonight, because of this title and photo:

Michelle’s Insults Drive Hillary to Collapse

Hillary Clinton suffered an alarming secret breakdown after a bitter clash with First Lady Michelle Obama, and now Bill’s wife is threatening to quit her Secretary of State post. You can read all about Michelle’s bitter insults that have touched off a firestorm behind White House walls. It’s all in this week’s GLOBE.

I also admit that the Globe is normally one of the most unreliable of all the trash magazines, however…much of what is said in this article seems very, very possible to me.
I will write a Cliff Note about it after I catch up with the blog.

White House fights waste, as Labor Department loses $19 billion

By Jennifer Liberto and Leigh Remizowski
    September 15, 2011

WASHINGTON (CNNMoney) — The Obama administration said Wednesday it was cracking down on waste and fraud in Medicaid and unemployment, in an effort that should save taxpayers billions of dollars.

The White House initiative comes on the heels of news that the Department of Labor tallied $19 billion in wrongful payments of unemployment insurance over the past three years.

The eye-popping level of improper payments puts pressure on the Obama Administration as they push to extend certain stimulus programs, including unemployment benefits.

The Department of Labor says it’s focusing on six states where fraud in unemployment benefits is particularly bad: Virginia, Indiana, Colorado, Washington, Louisiana, and Arizona. Improper payments of unemployment benefits have run as high as 43% of dollars distributed in Louisiana and Indiana.

Those six states will have to undergo stricter reviews until they can get their error rate below 10% of dollars doled out for six months straight, according to the Department of Labor.

The Department of Labor also announced Wednesday that it was awarding $192 million to 42 states to crack down on waste and improve accuracy in the unemployment insurance program. Some states will use the money to upgrade their computer systems that track data and process claims.

“These new measures demonstrate our commitment to working closely with states to ensure the integrity of the system, turnaround underperforming programs and save taxpayer dollars,” said Labor Secretary Hilda Solis in a statement.

But Republicans say the administration has a long way to go before it can declare success in fighting waste and fraud at agencies.

“For every big-picture undertaking like this, you get a headline about things like the State Department’s spending emergency funds on table linens and a kitchen renovation,” said Sen. Charles Grassley, an Iowa Republican. “Getting results requires getting in the weeds and a lot of oversight to enforce change. It’s rare to see the necessary kind of follow-through after the headlines die down.”

Another Cronyism Scandal Snags Obama White House

    Thursday, September 15, 2011
    By: Martin Gould

The Obama administration has been hit with a second scandal alleging cronyism — this time potentially compromising military safety.

Four Star Gen. William Shelton was urged to alter his testimony to Congress to make it more favorable to a company with close ties to the White House, alleges Republican Rep. Mike Turner, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee.

The allegation comes as revelations involving the bankruptcy of solar panel manufacturer Solyndra continue to embroil the White House. Officials from that firm gave around $100,000 to Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign for the presidency.

Shelton was due to give evidence to a House subcommittee about a plan by the satellite broadband company LightSquared to provide high-speed Internet service to 260 million people. The Pentagon believes it could interfere with sensitive military GPS systems, reports The Daily Beast.

LightSquared’s majority owner is Harbinger Capital, an investment fund that Democratic donor Philip Falcone runs.

When administration officials saw an early text of Shelton’s testimony, the White House urged him to change it, Turner contends.

“There was an attempt to influence the text of the testimony and to engage LightSquared in the process in order to bias his testimony,” the Ohio congressman said.

“The only people who were involved in the process in preparation for the hearing included the Department of Defense, the White House, and the Office Management and Budget.”

Turner said he will ask the House Oversight Committee to investigate to see whether the administration had interfered.

“We cannot afford to have federal telecommunication policy, especially where it affects national security, to be made in the same way this White House has parceled out a half billion dollars in loan guarantees to the failed Solyndra Corporation, a large political campaign contributor of the president,” Turner said.

According to the Daily Beast, the White House asked Shelton to alter his testimony to say that he supported plans to add more broadband for commercial use and that the Pentagon would need just 90 days for tests to see whether there was a problem.

Shelton “chafed at the suggestion” and told the committee about the interference, the website says.

White House officials acknowledge that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB)suggested changes to Shelton’s testimony but said that is routine and not influenced by politics. Shelton was free to accept or reject the proposed changes, they said.

White House spokesman Eric Schultz said the OMB “reviews and clears all agency communications with Congress, including testimony, to ensure consistency in the administration’s policy positions.”

LightSquared needs federal approval to go ahead with the project, which fits into President Barack Obama’s stated goal to make high-speed Internet service available across the country.

But the area of broadband that it would use is close to that of GPS systems, including those the military uses, and that has raised fears of interference.

LightSquared acknowledges that it has had talks with the White House. “Because we are the only company on the horizon that can quickly help the federal government meet its stated objective of near universal wireless coverage for all Americans, it was natural that LightSquared have meetings with the administration,” company spokesman Terry Neal said.

Julius Genachowski, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, was due to appear at a meeting of the House Subcommittee on Strategic Forces on Thursday to give evidence on LightSquared’s proposal but instead sent Julius Knapp, the FCC’s “top technical expert.” Turner denounced Genachowski’s snub as an affront to the subcommittee.

  9. Looks like the knives have come out in the White House. Valerie Jarrett must have been calling all her journolister friends and feeding them this hit piece on Bill Daley. It’s always fun to see open war in the West Wing!

  10. Thanks Shez ZK for the correction.

Henry, no offense meant to Manilow. It just seemed odd that he is a Paul fan and donor.

  11. McNorman, that Hilter video never gets old. Enjoy watching it quickly. All the other mash-ups of this video have been forced off youtube due to copyright. Hope this one survives the purge.

  13. JanH,

Thanks for posting that Forbes piece. It’s unpleasant to see that they think their audience is stupid enough to accept it, but it did need to be publically debunked. As you say, it’s good to show both sides of issues.

Barry aside(I don’t know his sexual preference) I do not get why so so so so so many female comedians think gay men hate Sarah Palin. griffin, behar, cho, handler all go on and on. The gay men I know respect Palin. In many ways she is like every other gay icon– told over and over again that you cannot– do not have what it takes- having talent recognized but not right for a lead but perfect for the chorus, coming from little to stardom. Her tenacity is admirable. Most homosexuals have stood up and remained standing long after they were told to sit down. So has she.
So she’s conservative far from a homophobe. Bachman and sanctimonious are the only two that give me pause as far as pulling the R lever.

Netanyahu set for UN diplomatic showdown

    By Tobias Buck in Jerusalem

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, will address the UN General Assembly on Friday next week, setting the stage for a potentially dramatic diplomatic showdown with the Palestinians. He will speak on the same day that Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian leader, is due to deliver a landmark speech calling on the global body to support Palestinian statehood.

“The General Assembly is not a place where Israel usually receives a fair hearing,” Mr Netanyahu said on Thursday. “But I still decided to tell the truth before anyone who would like to hear it.”

The Israeli government, which opposes the Palestinian UN bid, had originally considered sending Shimon Peres, the Israeli president, to New York. Mr Peres is widely seen as a less divisive figure on the international stage than the prime minister. However, a failure by Mr Netanyahu to turn up at the UN next week could also have been interpreted as an unnecessary snub to the UN at a time when Israel is already facing growing diplomatic isolation.

The announcement suggests that the Israeli government now has little faith in the last-ditch effort by US and European negotiators to stop the Palestinian drive for statehood at the UN. According to several officials and diplomats, Mr Abbas on Wednesday rebuffed an alternative “package” that was drafted and presented by Tony Blair, the international community’s Middle East envoy.

The deal would have involved a statement by the Middle East Quartet (the US, UN, Russia and the European Union) calling for a return to direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. The statement would have included a timeline for negotiations and clearer terms of reference than were offered in the past – for example on the likely borders of a future Palestinian state. The package, according to several people involved in the talks, also held out the promise of a UN resolution, though one that would have stopped short of endorsing Palestinian statehood at this point.

Mr Abbas, however, told Mr Blair that the deal on offer was not sufficient. Palestinian officials said it fell short of, among other things, the Palestinian demand for Israel to freeze construction in Jewish West Bank settlements. It was also unclear whether the Israeli government itself was ready to accept the Quartet statement – a key point for Palestinian negotiators.

“We believe these last-minute moves were not for the sake of restarting peace talks, but for the sake of preventing the Palestinians from going to the UN,” one Palestinian official based in Ramallah said.

Mr Abbas is still facing strong pressure from senior US officials to step back from the UN move. However, most officials and diplomats believe that there is now little chance of stopping a Palestinian bid for statehood, which could take place either at the UN Security Council or in the UN General Assembly.

Mr Abbas himself is scheduled to give a television address on Friday night, amid speculation that he will use the broadcast to finally reveal the precise Palestinian proposal for statehood at the UN.

Solyndra’s woes worried White House, emails show (It didn’t stop Obama from stealing $528 million)

    CBS News
White House officials discussed the political ramifications of a possible default by a troubled solar energy company that received more than $500 million in federal loans, newly released emails show.

Emails released Thursday night show the Obama administration privately worried about the effect of a default by Solyndra Inc. on the president’s re-election campaign.

“The optics of a Solyndra default will be bad,” an official from the Office of Management and Budget wrote in a Jan. 31 email to a senior OMB official. “The timing will likely coincide with the 2012 campaign season heating up.”

That message has turned out to be a fairly accurate prophecy of Solyndra’s failure haunting President Obama’s 2012 campaign, even before the end of 2011.

In remarks on the Senate floor Thursday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., argued that Solyndra’s bankruptcy this month was just another reason to fight against the president’s jobs plan, reports CBSNews com’s Lucy Madison.

“This place was supposed to be the poster child of how the original stimulus would create jobs. Now it’s bankrupt and most of its 1,100 employees are out of work,” McConnell said.

The email, released by the House Energy and Commerce Committee as part of its investigation into the Solyndra loan, showed that Obama administration officials were concerned about Solyndra’s financial health even as they publicly declared the solar panel maker in good shape.

Solyndra, which received $528 million in federal loans under the stimulus law, declared bankruptcy late last month and laid off 1,100 workers.

The Silicon Valley company was the first renewable-energy company to receive a loan guarantee under the 2009 stimulus law, and the Obama administration frequently touted Solyndra as a model for its clean energy program. President Obama visited the company’s Fremont, Calif., headquarters last year.

Even as Obama praised the company’s plans to hire more than 1,000 workers, warning signs were being sent from within the government and from outside analysts who questioned Solyndra’s viability as a “going concern.”

At least three reports by federal watchdogs over the past two years warned that the Energy Department had not fully developed the controls needed to manage the multibillion-dollar loan program that provided the loan to Solyndra Inc., a now-bankrupt solar panel manufacturer.

Emails obtained by The Associated Press show that a White House official dismissed reports about Solyndra’s gloomy future. An email from Greg Nelson, a White House official who had been involved in the planning of Obama’s May 2010 trip to Solyndra’s headquarters, to a Solyndra executive downplayed a July 2010 news story in a trade publication that criticized the company’s financial health.

A 2009 report by the Energy Department’s inspector general warned that the DOE lacked the necessary quality control for the loan guarantee program, which was created in 2005 to support clean-energy projects that could not obtain conventional bank loans due to high risks.

In July 2010, the Government Accountability Office said the Energy Department had bypassed required steps for funding awards to five of 10 applicants that received conditional loan guarantees.

The report did not publicly identify the companies that were not properly vetted, but congressional investigators say one of them was Solyndra. The company was the first to receive a loan guarantee after the program was expanded under the 2009 stimulus law.

In March, DOE Inspector General Gregory Friedman again faulted the loan program for poor record keeping. A report by Friedman said the program “could not always readily demonstrate, through systematically organized records … how it resolved or mitigated relevant risks prior to granting loan guarantees.” According to the report, the department kept limited or no electronic data on 15 of 18 loan guarantees examined.

Documentation for the remaining three projects was more robust, the report said, “but did not include all of the information necessary … to evaluate the applicant’s credit worthiness and/or the risks associated with the projects.”

Damien LaVera, a spokesman for the Energy Department, said all reviews were completed before any taxpayer money was obligated.

Even so, warnings about the company persisted. A report last year by auditor PricewaterhouseCoopers said Solyndra had suffered recurring losses from operations and negative cash flows, raising “substantial doubt about its ability to continue as a going concern.”

But last May, a Solyndra email informed the White House that “things are going well” at the company and that it had “good market momentum, the factory is ramping up and our plan puts us at cash positive later this year. Hopefully, we’ll have a great story to tell you toward the end of the year.”

Nelson, the White House official, replied: “Fantastic to hear that business is doing well — keep up the good work! We’re cheering for you.”

White House spokesman Jay Carney said the White House did not influence the Solyndra loan, which he said was made on “a merit-based process” by DOE.

“There’s no evidence that the White House was involved in the loan,” Carney said Thursday. Emails that show White House officials pressuring the administration’s budget office about the loan were about scheduling, he said.

“The White House was involved in trying to find out when a decision would be made, so … staff here could make a decision about the vice president’s having an event” at Solyndra headquarters in September 2009, Carney said.

The FBI recently raided Solyndra’s headquarters, shortly after Solyndra filed for bankruptcy and laid off 1,100 workers.

A U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the case under seal, said the search was related to a fraud investigation into whether Solyndra filed inaccurate documents with the government.

Meanwhile, the Treasury Department’s inspector general said Thursday it has opened an investigation into the Solyndra loan.

Spokesman Richard Delmar said the inspector general is reviewing the role and actions of the Federal Financing Bank, a government corporation supervised by the Treasury Department. The bank provided the low-interest loan to Solyndra. The loan is one at least 15 loans totaling more than $6 billion made by the financing bank as part of the stimulus program

The FBI has executed search warrants at Solyndra’s headquarters and talked to top executives. The Energy Department’s inspector general and the House Energy and Commerce Committee also are investigating Solyndra and the DOE’s loan guarantee program, which has provided billions in loan guarantees to renewable energy companies.

The loan guarantees essentially make it easier for the companies to get financing, because the government guarantees repayment in the event of default. In Solyndra’s case, the loan came from the government itself, but private banks often provide the financing.

The Obama administration is moving to finalize as many as 15 loan guarantees for renewable-energy companies before the stimulus program ends on Sept. 30. Republicans question whether that could lead to more loans to companies that fail like Solyndra.

LaVera said the department won’t take any shortcuts during the approval process.

“We will only close the deals that are ready to close on Sept. 30,” he said.

The Investigative committee should order a moratorium on any new projects like the 15 businesses earmarked for funding before Sept. 30th. until they are reviewed by the committee for donor connections to Obama, connections to Soros and rigorous viability studies.

  20. Clinton Popularity Prompts Buyer’s Remorse

The most popular national political figure in America today is one who was rejected by her own party three years ago: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Nearly two-thirds of Americans hold a favorable view of her and one-third are suffering a form of buyer’s remorse, saying the U.S. would be better off now if she had become president in 2008 instead of Barack Obama.

The finding in the latest Bloomberg National Poll shows a higher level of wishful thinking about a Hillary Clinton presidency than when a similar question was asked in July 2010. Then, a quarter of Americans held such a view.

“Looking back, I wonder if she would have been a stronger leader, knowing the games and the politics and all that goes on,” said Susan Dunlop, 50, a homemaker in New Port Richey, Florida. “I don’t think she would have bent as much.”

Clinton, 63, a former first lady and U.S. senator from New York, fought with Obama for the Democratic nomination until June 2008, in what was often a combative primary that included her questioning his presidential readiness.

The only way to dump him and hold the base together would be if he agreed to step down after Democratic chieftains privately appealed to him to do so. [snip]

I am beginning to wonder if Obama gave the wrong answer on the way to Camp David. Maybe he tried to call someone’s bluff. Wonder how he will answer this time?

I don’t know which I want more, Obama et al to quietly step down and go away. Or see him and his corrupt crew exposed so thoroughly that they have to spend years and any fortune they stole fighting to stay out of jail.

It was a very bad president (sp) set by Ford when he followed a political agenda and not the rule of law and refused to prosecute Nixon.

When I think about that video of the two of them at the 9/11 flag folding and I am filled with disgust and want them both exposed for what they are. (Has the interpretation of what she said on that video been discredited?)

When it looked like the Obama’s were having marital trouble I was so foolish as to hope that MO, being a true American down deep, was troubled by BO’s destruction of our country. But then I saw that video.

This Politico story is the last straw. It’s all over but the screaming. The job’s dud, Tuesday night’s massacre, Democratic senators sneering at the proposed economic legislation, the fascist website, Solyndra pay to play, leaning on Air Force general to wipe out the GPS system so a contributor can monopolize cell phones and internet ,Obama whining to 50 high roller contributors last night that the economy is in crisis, then Obama’s fellow narcissist’s thinking they can scuttle the only sane competent person left in the WH who is Daley. I thought he would decline to run again this fall, but now I think maybe he will quit and let Biden take over. It really is that bad.

  23. Then again we have the hypothesis that Obama could be bent with rage at them insisting he stands down that he decides to ruin the party for everyone, i sincerely think he could be that type of person. He may well say, its me or nothing and take the whole damn party down in 2012.

  24. Betty i also think the Camp David was dubious, that may well have been the ultimatum, since that day, nothing and i mean nothing has gone right for him ,its like he is being tore down from within.

  25. Obama: “odds of me being reelected are much higher than the odds of me being elected in the first place”

Yup he really does think he is something special.

  26. Obama: Election Odds Better in 2012 Than 2008

At a campaign fundraiser Thursday night in Washington, D.C. on President Obama said he believes his chances of being reelected in 2012 are “much higher” than they were in 2008.

“Over the last couple of months there have been Democrats who voiced concerns and nervousness about, well, in this kind of economy, isn’t this just — aren’t these just huge headwinds in terms of your reelection?” Obama said.

“And I just have to remind people that, here’s one thing I know for certain: the odds of me being reelected are much higher than the odds of me being elected in the first place.”

Obama made the remarks before a gathering of 50 donors to his reelection campaign and the Democratic National Committee who each paid $35,800 to attend.

really thinks highly of himself. Narcissistic.

  27. Obama: “odds of me being reelected are much higher than the odds of me being elected in the first place”

Well, look at it this way – what were the odds of a 1 term do-nothing senator with no record and no name recognition being elected as POTUS vs the odds of sitting President being re-elected?

Obama: “odds of me being reelected are much higher than the odds of me being elected in the first place”

This is bunker mentality bravado bullshit. They know they are being pushed out. They have not taken the hints and the kneecapping will continue to escalate until he is utterly humiliated. You notice he says this crap to his adoring contributors and not the press anymore. He is getting squeezed further into the corner.

  29. Mrs. Smith, the WH is still banking on calling any and all inquisitions “racists.” That word has little meaning anymore. It’s shameful that this man has voided the emotion that the word invoked. IMHO, this administration that has taken race relations decades backward by inciting such hateful rhetoric.

  30. Admin, you are so right about the Hitler video. You know it has got to be bad when the Hitler video returns. hahaha Perhaps Hitler should turn himself into AttackWatch, no?

  31. When it looked like the Obama’s were having marital trouble I was so foolish as to hope that MO, being a true American down deep, was troubled by BO’s destruction of our country. But then I saw that video.

Sorry, you made me laugh. My guess is that the marital problems are about MO finding out that Barry’s been fooling around or that she’s unhappy with fund-raising totals.

  32. “I wonder if we will ever find out who Obama met at that Camp David stopover.”

There was an intrusion of protected airspace over Camp David that day. Air Force fighers were scrambled to escort the plane away. That was right at the time of rumblings about small plane attacks. I think the mystery of the Camp David motorcade probably had to do with security.

  33. Obama: “And I just have to remind people that, here’s one thing I know for certain: the odds of me being reelected are much higher than the odds of me being elected in the first place.”

Which just shows that there’s a much better chance of changing his mind if he is directly implicated in the Fast and Furious and Solyndra scandals.

  34. This is too funny. First Daley, now Geithner. Obama is throwing anyone and everyone under the bus to try to save his rapidly sinking ass. “Okay, the Daley article isn’t enough. Let’s blame it all on Geithner!”

A new book offering an insider’s account of the White House’s response to the financial crisis says that U.S. Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner ignored an order from President Barack Obama calling for reconstruction of major banks.
The book states Geithner and the Treasury Department ignored a March 2009 order to consider dissolving banking giant Citigroup while continuing stress tests on banks, which were burdened with toxic mortgage assets.

LMAO! Yeah, Obama was all noble and trying to do the right thing and shit, and his treasury secretary just ignored the direct instructions of the President of the United States. And nothing was said or done about that – everyone just let it happen, because……… everyone was so scared of the immense power and charisma that is….Timmy Geithner???

Poor POTUS tried. He TRIED, I tell you, but was foiled by the evil Timmeh!

I despise Geithner, but this is the most laughable spin I’ve ever heard.

  36. More on the book that claims Timmeh wouldn’t do the boob’s bidding:

Obama says later in the book that he was trying to be decisive but “the speed with which the bureaucracy could exercise my decision was slower than I wanted.”

(None of this will make sense unless you are a Doctor Who fan)

One of the things I used to say about Hillary, and a reason she was the better choice, is that she knew how govt and even bureaucracies work. Our govt is a complicated, patched-together machine, an accretion of the years, and it takes a good deal of skill to know how to operate all its levers.

When I read this I had a mental image of Obama huddled inside the inactive Tardis, tentatively fiddling with a dial, banging a button in frustration, and saying in a petulantly commanding voice: “I want it to go. Make it GO!”

Then I can see Hillary in my mind’s eye – dashing about like The Doctor, yanking levers and twisting valves and spinning dials, while the “swoop, swoop swoop” sound starts up….

  37. In other words this book is a “I did all i could, but they held me back” whine of not taking responsibility….what a crock of bullshit.

  38. Dump the Boob Plan from Dimocrats

    From Ulsterman

A video clip now at the beginnings of going viral is circulating the Internet. Its contents reveal strategists within the Democratic Party now openly telling their re-election clients to stay away from President Obama if they hope to have any chance at re-election, as well as the even more blockbuster scenario of party officials approaching the president himself with an “LBJ scenario” in which Barack Obama would announce to the nation he will not seek a second term as President of the United States.

Granted, much of the information remains speculative banter from within the party, but the fact this banter is now being conducted within the open shows just how deeply the concern over Barack Obama’s persistent inability to successfully navigate the current political challenges of the country, as well as the president’s continued decline in support from among the most stalwart Democratic Party supporters.

And who is pointed to as the most likely replacement for an Obama second term? Hillary Clinton…

Big Media is pulling out all the stops in a destined-to-fail effort to save him.

  40. NYT looking into whether Obambi clinically depressed

Is Barack Obama Depressed?Wouldn’t you be? Barack Obama is at the nadir of his political popularity and effectiveness. He has been maneuvered into an economic corner of 9%-plus unemployment by a relentlessly nihilistic Congress. His achievements—killing bin Laden, saving the auto industry at negligible cost—are written off as flukes. Plus all this 9/11 anniversary stuff! We hear the New York Times is looking into whether it’s all starting to get to him—like, clinically.

We’re told by a source inside the Times that the paper is preparing a story arguing that Obama no longer finds joy in the political back-and-forth, has seemed increasingly listless to associates, and is generally exhibiting the litany of signs that late-night cable commercials will tell you add up to depression. Or maybe Low T.

Either way, the investigation was described to us as taking seriously the notion that Obama may be suffering from a depressive episode. Of course, absent a telltale Wellbutrin prescription or testimony from the man himself, it’s really impossible to achieve a reliable diagnosis. And a story like “Obama Appears to Suffer From Depression” can be easily downgraded to “Political Travails Begin to Take Personal Toll on Obama.” So the story in question, if it ever comes out, may not end up supporting the depression thesis. But rest assured: There are people at the Times who, based on the paper’s reporting, believe Obama is depressed—the kind of depression where, if he weren’t the president of the United States, he wouldn’t be getting out of bed in the morning.

As per usual, a Times spokeswoman declined to comment: “In keeping with our policy that we don’t comment on stories that we may or may not be working on, we will not comment in this case.”

  41. Casey dumps all over Obama.

Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) appeared on KDKA in Pittsburgh and said that Obama’s ‘jobs plan’ will not work as presented. Casey believes the president’s plan needs to be broken apart and multiple votes will be needed to get anything done. “I’m afraid if we tried to pass one big bill, I think there’s a lot of skepticism about big pieces of legislation with all kinds of different component parts. We should break this up”, said Casey.

“I’m afraid if we tried to pass one big bill, I think there’s a lot of skepticism about big pieces of legislation with all kinds of different component parts. We should break this up”, said Casey. He later stated, “Why not have a series of votes on job creation strategies – five votes, 10 votes, I don’t care if it’s 25 votes.”

Excellent. The WH is not floating this. This is trial balloon and a big hint to get out now before he is permanently kneecapped. Just quit. Leave. You look terrible. You are depressed. Nothing is going right. You need to rest man. This is just before the intervention with “You will not run for re-election and Joe B is going to finish up for you”. This stuff is moving fast. He is taking the whole party down and they know it.

It doesn’t take the NYObamaLovingTimes to see he is angry and depressed. He is used to having life handed to him, and reaping the benefits with as little work as possible. He is probably pist that he now has to dye his hair and is as skinny as a broom and is married to the wicked witch of the East.

    18 Million Cracks

Gasbags all over* are wishing for a Hillary Do Over now that obama’s support across the board is crumbling like paper mache Greek columns. Long-time pro-Hillary bloggers have been keeping the record straight on the fact that Hillary actually WON the Democratic primaries in 2008 if you consider “winning an election” to be defined as “receiving the highest number of votes from registered voters.” Click HERE if you’ve forgotten, or if a kool aid high prevented you from ever knowing, the facts. That’s right, 17,857,501 Americans (many millions of them us women) voted for Hillary Rodham Clinton in 2008, from New Jersey to Michigan, California to Massachusetts, Nevada to Pennsylvania to Florida (those states sound familiar? Yeah, that’s where the Democratic base lives and we voted like crazy for Hillary).

That’s 272,809 MORE VOTES for Hillary than for Barack.

That number, 17.8 million, is eerily close to the number of American women now living in poverty in the U.S.A. And 7.5 million of those women are living in EXTREME poverty, defined as annual income less than HALF of the poverty line. And the tens of million of extremely poor children being raised by desperately struggling single mothers? Forget about it.

Coincidence? I think the fuck not.

Every woman in America, rich or poor or middle class, needs to go into her polling place on November 6th, 2012 and vote this anti-woman, misogynistic, poverty-ignoring piece of crap administration out of office. We owe it to all the single mothers and poor grandmothers who are literally considering suicide today.

What friggin jokes Ms Magazine, NOW, and Gloria Steinem are.

  50. General Reported He Was Pressured on Testimony About White House-Backed Project, Sources Say

    By Justin Fishel
    Published September 16, 2011

Gen. William Shelton, head of the Air Force Space Command, told House members in a classified briefing earlier this month that he was pressured to change prepared congressional testimony in a way that would favor a large company funded by Philip Falcone, a major Democratic donor, congressional sources told Fox News.

Republicans have raised questions about whether the project pursued by the company, LightSquared, is being unduly expedited by the Obama administration, which has pushed for national wireless network upgrades.

The Virginia-based satellite and broadband communications company has plans to build a nationwide, next-generation, 4G phone network that many, including Shelton, think would seriously hinder the effectiveness of high-precision GPS receiver systems, a product used most commonly by the United States military.

A source familiar with the technology told Fox News that the LightSquared spectrum would be 5 billion times stronger than the military’s GPS system, rendering the military’s system almost useless.

“Imagine trying to have a telephone conversation while your neighbors are hosting a rock concert,” the source told Fox News. “That’s the situation the military is facing.”

Shelton, in testimony Thursday before a House Armed Services subcommittee, refused to suggest that interference problems could be mitigated, as he allegedly was being pressured to say.

He did testify that testing done by various agencies responsible for military GPS positioning “demonstrated empirically that the LightSquared signals interfere with all of the types of receivers in the test.”

He added that mitigation would not be possible because redesigning the equipment to filter out interference from LightSquared “would involve substantial financial cost and likely degrade the accuracy of high performance receivers, which is critical to many key GPS users.”

Military training that relies on precision GPS, such as dropping ordnance, potentially could cease to exist in the United States. Many farmers who also rely on the systems would also be affected. It’s estimated this system is used by as many as 1 million people.

A House Armed Services Committee staff member confirmed to Fox News that when asked whether he was pressured to change public testimony he had prepared for the hearing Thursday, Shelton said he was “being asked to say things he didn’t agree with.”

It’s unclear who exactly pressured Shelton, but it’s possible the individuals are in White House, Department of Defense or the Office of Management and Budget, which each approve military testimony prepared for Congress. The House staff member also told Fox News a copy of Shelton’s prepared testimony was leaked to LightSquared.

Col. Kathleen Cook, a spokeswoman for Air Force Space Command, said Shelton’s testimony represented his own views.

“Our testimony is reviewed appropriately by (the office of the secretary of defense), then other executive branch agencies via the established OMB process. In that process, it’s common to have edit exchanges and recommendations, but I can assure you Gen Shelton’s testimony was his own supported by and focused purely on documented test results,” Cook said.

The White House did not respond Thursday evening to a request for comment. But The Washington Post reported that a White House official denied trying to influence Shelton’s testimony.

The company also defended its work.

“We understand that some in the telecom sector fear the challenges for their business model that LightSquared presents. It’s also ludicrous to suggest LightSquared’s success depends on political connections. This is a private company that has never taken one dollar in taxpayer money,” chief executive Sanjiv Ahuja said in a statement given to Fox News.

At the House subcommittee hearing Thursday, which focused on strategic forces and sustaining GPS for national security, Republican Chairman Michael Turner lashed out at the Obama administration for its acceptance of LightSquared proposals. He took aim at FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski, a longtime basketball buddy of President Obama, for not showing up at the hearing and for granting a waiver to LightSquared on Jan. 26.

“I trust Chairman Genachowski is doing something very important this morning if he couldn’t be here to discuss the significant harm to national security that may result from the FCC’s action,” Turner said.

After the way the US treats him, he should take his ball elsewhere. To a world stage, like Hillary did. (And hm, Sarah is going to Korea….)

  59. Constitution Day is actually tomorrow, Sept 17th (1787), but as it falls on a Sat this year they are observing and celebrating it today. My dream ticket would be Hillary/Sarah. All the others are just wasting our time and insulting our intelligence.

And speaking of the Constitution and party tickets, I’m sorry our dear henry, but I must take issue again with even the thought of Rubio as a VP candidate that you keep mentioning. Forgive me for responding in this thread instead, but Rubio is flatout ineligible. Not only were his parent’s naturalization applications published online showing they didn’t become U.S. Citizens until 4 years after his birth rendering him with dual citizenship (to this day according to the Cuban and our constitutions), but it also uncovered a huge lie in his own *official background story* bio. Rubio claims his parents became exiles of Cuba because of the Castro takeover and fled, but the apps show his parents actually came to America months and months before Castro came to power. Yet it took them something like seventeen years to apply for citizenship? We now equate this ‘Castro refugees’ bullshit right up there with BO’s ‘my parents and Selma produced me’ (4 years after BO’s alledged birth). Rubio knows full well he is NOT eligible to run nor serve as VP or Prez, and avoids the questions when confronted on both issues. Imagine that. I liked Rubio, but he’s lying about his past just like Obama, and the highest he can go in the future is Senator, or a cabinet position.

Sole Allegiance to the US at birth is what is required. Natural born Citizen is born of parents owing NO allegiance to any foreign power. How in the fuck can Rubio have any sole allegiance to America even to this day, when he can go to Cuba and run for prez there? No, the first whiff of trouble with Cuba here, especially national security & Cuba, and his motives (and plural allegiances) would be suspect immediately no matter if they were pro or con, beneficial -or not- to America. How in the world could they not be suspect or influenced? Cuban Missile Crisis Redux? Like I want to wonder much less trust what RUBIO would do? No thanks. No way. If Rubio gets on a ticket then our Constitution is not only completely dead, but a mere figment. Same for Jindhal.

Solyndra, the logical endpoint of Obamanomics
    Sep 16, 2011 11:38 EDT

    crony capitalism | solyndra

The bankruptcy of solar-panel maker Solyndra neatly encapsulates the economic, political and intellectual bankruptcy of Barack Obama’s Big Idea. It was the president’s intention back in 2009 to begin centrally reorganizing the U.S. economy around the supposed climate-change crisis.

To what end? Well, Obama claimed his election would mark “the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.” But that was just the cover story. At its core, Obamanomics is about the top-down redistribution of wealth and income. Government spending on various “green” subsidies and programs, along with a cap-and-trade system to limit carbon emissions, would enrich key Democrat constituencies: lawyers, public sector unions, academia and non-profits.

Oh, and Wall Street, too. Who was the exclusive financial adviser to Solyndra when it was trying to secure the $535 million loan from Washington? Goldman Sachs. And had the cap-and-trade scheme been enacted, big banks stood ready to reap billions from the trading of carbon emission credits.

No wonder many Democratic strategists predicted their party’s 2008 landslide win would usher in a generation of political dominance. Obamanomics, essentially, would divert taxpayer dollars to the Green Lobby – and then into the campaign coffers of the Democratic Party. This is what crony capitalism is really all about: politicians enriching favored businesses, who then return the favor. Or maybe it’s the other way around, Who cares, really. It’s an endless, profitable loop for both.

And Obama almost pulled it off. The Great Recession conveniently allowed the president to start the spendathon under the guise of economic stimulus. (“You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” – White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, 2009). As it turns out, the $38.6 billion loan program for clean energy firms that Solyndra benefited from has created just 3,545 permanent new jobs after parceling out half its dough. That works out to around $5 million a job.

Unfortunately for the Obamacrats, the financial meltdown also undercut political support for cap-and-trade on Capitol Hill. Voters worried the scheme would slow growth and cost jobs. But without permanently and continually raising the price of carbon-based fuels, many green businesses can’t make the numbers work.

As Peter Lynch, a New York-based solar energy analyst, told ABC News:

It’s very difficult to perceive a company with a model that says, well, I can build something for six dollars and sell it for three dollars. Those numbers don’t generally work. You don’t want to lose three dollars for every unit you make.

Unless, of course, American taxpayers make up the difference — though in the case of Solyndra, even government’s thumb on the scale wasn’t enough to save it. And it often isn’t enough when an investment’s goals are a fat political reward rather than a financial one. Indeed, studies of similar government investment efforts around the world show they’re usually a bad deal for taxpayers. An analysis of Canada’s government-backed venture capital fund, for instance, found the recipient firms “underperform on a variety of criteria, including value-creation, as measured by the likelihood and size of IPOs and M&As, and innovation, as measured by patents.”

Even after getting the loan, Solyndra spent $187,000 on lobbying efforts, according to Bloomberg, including trying to get the White House to push government agencies to install its panels on the rooftops of federal buildings and extend “buy American” rules that favor U.S. companies. Instead of revenue seeking, Solyndra was “rent seeking,” which means trying to make money by manipulating government .

And when the White House was trying to determine whether to sink another $67 million into Solyndra, its calculus was political not financial (via The Washington Post):

“The optics of a Solyndra default will be bad,” the Office of Management and Budget staff member wrote Jan. 31 in an e-mail to a co-worker. “If Solyndra defaults down the road, the optics will be arguably worse later than they would be today. . . . In addition, the timing will likely coincide with the 2012 campaign season heating up.”

That’s not how the private sector makes investment decision. But it’s routine for government where the stakeholders are politicians, bureaucrats, lobbyists and favored constituencies. The takers, not the makers. That’s whose side Obamanomics is on.

Redskins Install Solar Power at FedEx Field–Without Federal Funds

    September 16, 2011

(CNSNews.com) – The Washington Redskins unveiled a landmark solar facility at the team’s FedEx Field stadium Thursday [….]

The project is a private venture between the Redskins and energy firm NRG, team owner Daniel Snyder said, and did it not involve government financing. [….]

The facility is the largest in the NFL, powering 20 percent of the stadium on game days and 100 percent on off days.

The Redskins partnered with New Jersey-based NRG to build the solar array, which consists of 8,000 solar panels installed on top of an 841-car parking lot. The project also features a not-as-yet-constructed array of translucent solar panels near the stadium’s main gate.

  64. Hillary Clinton addresses women’s rights at APEC economic summit

    September 16, 2011

SAN FRANCISCO — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking Friday morning before a packed room of international delegates at a hotel on San Francisco’s Union Square, addressed the need to improve global economic productivity by leveling the playing field for women.

Talking to the audience of hundreds attending the Women and the Economic Summit, Clinton stressed that “structural and social impediments that stack the deck against (women in the workforce)” must be removed to achieve global, shared prosperity.

“For the sake of our children and our nations, it is necessary. Because a rising tide of women in an economy raises the fortunes of families and nations,” Clinton said.

Her remarks focused on how women represent a “vital source” of growth in powering global economies, because “when we liberate the economic potential of women, we elevate the economic performance of communities, nations and the world,” she said.

What is needed to enable such leaps in productivity is sweeping reform in how governments enforce laws and policies, she said.

“Laws, customs and the values that fuel them all act as roadblocks to full inclusion,” and those barriers can be formal or informal — from different laws for women regarding inheritance rights or conferring citizenship to children, to earning smaller wages for the same work, she said.

By narrowing the gender gap, Clinton said, beginning with sound economic policies that address the unique challenges limiting women, the potential increase in productivity could lead to a 14 percent rise in per capita incomes by 2020 in several countries, such as China, Russia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

“We must commit to giving women access to capital so women entrepreneurs can turn their ideas into the small and medium enterprises that are the source of so much growth and job creation,” she said.

The effort, she said, represents a new era, from the information age to what she referred to as the “Participation Age,” where all individuals are active in the global marketplace.

The summit Clinton attended is part of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, or APEC, conference that began on Monday and has drawn some 3,000 delegates from APEC’s 21 member countries, which all have coastlines along the Pacific Ocean.

The conference marks the largest set of diplomatic meetings held in California since the signing of the United Nations charter in 1945, according to the Bay Area Council, which is hosting the event.

Although there have been discussions within APEC on the economic empowerment of women, the summit represents an unprecedented focus on the topic, according to the Bay Area Council.

Clinton is credited with prioritizing the topic, and the creation of the dedicated forum for women’s economic empowerment was agreed upon at a meeting of APEC senior officials in May.

Friday is the final day of the summit, which featured some 65 speakers addressing more than 600 delegates and touched on the themes of access to finance, access to markets, capacity and skills building, and women’s leadership.

As the event draws to a close, APEC will adopt a declaration affirming the organization and each member economies’ commitment to improving women’s access to capital and markets, building their capacities and skills, and supporting the rise of women leaders in the public and private sectors, Clinton said this morning.

Realizing that goal of equal opportunity will require persistence and patience, for what is a “generation-long journey,” she said.

“When it comes to the enormous challenge of our time — to systematically and relentlessly pursue more economic opportunity in our lands — we don’t have a person to waste, and we certainly don’t have a gender to waste, either,” she said.

  65. The other side on Solyndra. Links to good info, too.

Basically, Solyndra was working on a solar technology that promised to be cheaper than silicon, and at the time of the loan it looked really promising both to DOE and to private investors. But then the market turned: Silicon prices dropped, and China started producing super low-cost silicon PV. That spelled doom for Solyndra. They had a good idea, but it didn’t work out.
In any case, Solyndra is a tiny fraction of DOE’s green-energy loan program, and Solyndra’s loan guarantees are dwarfed by those of both fossil fuel and nuclear companies, which range into the multiple billions.

I’ve heard that Chinese factories are underselling US solar panels because they get more government aid. If so — why is the Chinese government backing them?

Just to kneecap the US solar industry? da da dada….

  66. Between the monies from the DOE and George Kaiser’s Argonaut #Solyndra spent $750 million in two years. Where did it go?

The Ulsterman Report: Congressman Issa Facing Ethics Charge From Soros Group

As he continues to take on Eric Holder and the Obama Justice Department, Congressman Darrell Issa now faces his own push-back ethics complaint filed by liberal advocacy group.

Darrell Issa, who just yesterday declared Obama Attorney General Eric Holder to be so incompetent as to be a danger to the United States, is now facing what appears to be a clear push-back scandal meant to both intimidate and silence the outspoken California Congressman.

The liberal advocacy group American Family Voices has announced its intention to file an ethics violation complaint against Congressman Issa. The complaint alleges the Mr. Issa has utilized his position in Congress to enhance his own personal wealth and influence. American Family Voices is pushing for full investigative hearings against Mr. Issa. The California Congressman already ranks among the wealthiest members of Congress due to his considerable success as a business owner prior to running for public office.

Issa’s office has already fired back against the ethics charge, indicating it is being orchestrated by the White House to discredit those who have raised concerns against the Obama administration. Congressman Issa has for months been taking the lead in investigating the the Obama Department of Justice’s role in the now infamous and deadly Operation Fast and Furious Gunrunner program that resulted in the deaths of border officials and private citizens. Illegal weapons from that operation are still being uncovered in crimes. Investigators estimate some 2000 weapons were allowed by the Obama administration to be placed into the hands of known and highly dangerous criminals from both the United States and Mexico.

It should be noted that one of the primary financial backers for American Family Voices is George Soros – a strong supporter of President Barack Obama.

Yes, Issa deserves our support- We have so much riding on the removal of Obama, one way or the other!

Poll: Obama’s Favorability Rating Upside-Down for First Time

For the first time, more Americans have an unfavorable opinion of President Obama than have a favorable opinion of him, according to a new CBS News/New York Times poll released late Friday, an indication that dissatisfaction with the president’s job performance and the direction of the country is dragging down how Americans view Obama personally.

Just 39 percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of Obama, while 42 percent view him unfavorably. In January of this year, 40 percent had a favorable image of Obama, and 34 percent had an unfavorable opinion. In January 2009, as he was inaugurated, 60 percent of Americans had a favorable opinion of him.

While the president’s approval rating — which is down to 43 percent in the new poll, an all-time low — is an important indicator of his re-election standing, the high regard Americans felt for Obama personally was a sign that Americans hadn’t yet given up on his presidency.

Republican pollster Glen Bolger made this point earlier this week in a blog post on the website of his firm, Alexandria, Va.-based Public Opinion Strategies. In the most recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey, conducted late last month by Democratic pollster Peter Hart and Republican pollster Bill McInturff (Bolger’s partner at POS), equal percentages of Americans had positive and negative opinions of Obama.

    From Bolger’s post:

For quite some time, Republican pollsters have been making the point to their clients: don’t confuse the attitudes of base and swing voters toward the President. Base GOP voters do not like Obama’s policies, and they dislike him personally (some more vehemently than others). However, we had consistently seen in our polls and focus groups that while swing voters are increasingly unhappy with his policies and his politics, they still liked Obama personally.

Lately, I have been making the case (and others may have as well) that we’re nearing a tipping point for the President’s personal standing. If his job approval ratings were weak, eventually swing voters would no longer view him as the shining star he believes himself to be.

In the new CBS News/New York Times poll, Obama is being crushed by negative data points:

    — 72 percent of Americans believe the nation is on the wrong track, a new high for the Obama presidency.

    — 49 percent of Democrats now say that Obama’s job performance has been worse than they expected.

    — 47 percent of Americans are either “not very confident” or “not at all confident” that Obama’s jobs legislation “will create jobs and improve the economy.”

    — Obama’s favorable/unfavorable rating among independents: 31 percent/41 percent.

What this all means and this being an NYT/CBS of all things is….Obama’s personal rating is now taking a big slide, this only happens when they no longer believe you are capable. Be very afraid Obama, this is about to enter the terminal phase for you.

  72. interesting…..

Does Michele Bachmann Have a Crony Problem Too?

    Bryan Preston

    September 16, 2011

Something about Michele Bachmann’s video has been bugging me (and Matt Lewis too) ever since I posted it earlier today. Aside from the irresponsible lunacy of issuing a blanket opposition to “any governor or president who mandates a family’s healthcare choices and violates the rights of parents on these issues” and scaremongering about a vaccine known to be safe, there’s a word she should use in the video but never does. See if you can spot it:

“Whether its Obamacare or Perrycare I oppose any governor or president who mandates a family’s healthcare choices and violates the rights of parents on these issues – especially if the decision-making process occurs behind closed doors, bypassing legislative action, and favors campaign contributors over families.”

Which GOP candidate has had his state-run health care program linked with ObamaCare? Not Perry, since Texas doesn’t have anything like ObamaCare. No, that would be Mitt Romney. But Bachmann doesn’t use “RomneyCare.” Why? Has she allowed herself to become a stalking horse for Romney? If so, on what grounds?

And then there’s the crony capitalist problem. Bachmann has taken a lot of money from pharma companies. One company stands out.

Meanwhile, Bachman has taken somewhere north of $140,000 from pharmaceutical companies. Those donors include Abbott Labs, Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca, Novartis, Eli Lilly and Bayer. Yet, not a dollar of all that pharma money, from such a wide range of the world’s largest drugmakers, came from Merck. Might Bachmann be going after Merck on behalf of that company’s competitors who also happen to be Bachmann donors?

Why bold GlaxoSmithKline? Because they make the only other viable HPV vaccine on the market, Cervarix.

If it’s fair to levy the “crony capitalism” charge at Perry, then it’s fair to levy the exact same charge at Bachmann, especially after her attacks on Perry.

For the record, I know the “crony capitalism” charge doesn’t apply to Perry and I don’t believe it applies to Bachmann. The stalking horse possibility is definitely in play, though.

I was wondering why she was gonna nuts on this, turns out, one of her biggest donors is the producer of the HPV rival vaccine.

  73. I met a Vietnam Vet the other night and had the opportunity to ask him who he thought would be a good candidate to vote for this time around….This is the time I always start my own personal polling among Veterans that are willing to share their views.

Well he said ” I guess that Richards guy”, I said I don’t think there’s a “Richards” running….he said you know the “governor of Texas”….disapointed, I said, ok, and the guy kept talking and telling me he had always been a republican….so I just listened and then he said, well if I was going to vote for a democrat, there IS one I’d vote for but they aren’t running….so I asked who would that be….he said” Hillary Clinton”. Well to say the least I was shocked that a lifelong republican would vote for Hillary. So I questioned him about Bill….he said ” he was the only President that ever balanced the budget”. He said….you know I gave Obama a chance when the primary was going on and was listening to both of them, but when Obama and Hillary went to the senate and she held out her hand to shake it..and he snubbed her….I never liked/or trusted him again….
Just want to share that story about my personal polling….I think she could win even now…lets all hope he throws in the LBJ towel soon.

  74. Confloyd, I like to take my own personal polls too, but since I am mainly surrounded by Obots, I have to take their temperature as the months passed.

Up until the economy went to Hell, they acted like we would have if Hillary went to the Oval. They loved to talk about him like they were members of the Superbowl team.

Then they started getting upset not getting the public option and the promises he made that just kept falling over like dominos.

Then they thouht he needed support to not get weak and cave into opposition. As we know, he was just using them as tools….

At some point many of them started to realize Barry was laughing at them…then they were silently in total denial and that turned to depression.

This leads to today, some are speaking out when probed, others are silent as they go through Kool aid withdrawals.. It will get worse for them, and soon they will be tossing rotten tomatoes at him, that is why the NYTimes is making up the excuse for his behavior, depression.

  75. New book: Women in Obama White House Felt Excluded and Ignored

A new book claims that the Obama White House is a boys’ club marred by rampant infighting that has hindered the administration’s economic policy and left top female advisers feeling excluded from key conversations.

“Confidence Men: Wall Street, Washington, and the Education of a President,” by journalist Ron Suskind due out next Tuesday, details the rivalries among Obama’s top economic advisers, Larry Summers, former chairman of the National Economic Council, and Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner. It describes constant second-guessing by Summers, now at Harvard, who was seen by others as “imperious and heavy-handed” in his decision-making.

In an excerpt obtained by The Post, a female senior aide to President Obama called the White House a hostile environment for women.

“This place would be in court for a hostile workplace,” former White House communications director Anita Dunn is quoted as saying. “Because it actually fit all of the classic legal requirements for a genuinely hostile workplace to women.”

Dunn declined to discuss the specifics of the book. But in an interview Friday she said she told Suskind “point blank” that the White House “was not a hostile environment.”

“The president is someone who when he goes home at night he goes home to house full of very strong women,” Dunn added. “He values having strong women around him.”

The book, due out next week, reveals a White House that at times was divided and dysfunctional.

It says that women occupied many of the West Wing’s senior positions, but felt outgunned and outmaneuvered by male colleagues such as former Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and Summers.

“I felt like a piece of meat,” Christina Romer, former head of the Council of Economic Advisers, said of one meeting in which Suskind writes she was “boxed out” by Summers.

Dunn told Suskind that the problems began during the 2008 campaign. At one point she was viewing a television ad with other campaign officials and was shocked to see no women in the spot.

“There isn’t a single woman in this ad,” Dunn said. “I was dumbfounded. It wasn’t like they were being deliberately sexist. It’s just there was no one offering a female perspective.”

The ad was later reshot, with women included.

“The president has a real woman problem,” an unnamed high-ranking female official told Suskind. “ The idea of the boys’ club being just Larry and Rahm isn’t really fair. He [Obama] was just as responsible himself.”

Based on interviews with more than 200 people inside and outside the White House, Suskind’s book comes as Obama faces the lowest poll numbers of his tenure, and deep discontent over his economic policies.

According to the book, female staffers, like Dunn and Romer, felt sidelined. In November 2009, female aides complained to the president about being left out of meetings, or ignored.

Dunn said in the interview that her husband, now-White House lawyer Bob Bauer, was “surprised to see me as someone who could be talked over in meetings.”

“It’s a place where there is vigorous discussion back and forth. At various times people have issues with their colleagues, but we were united,” Dunn said. “I’ve been very clear that this is a president who values a diverse set of voices on every issue.”

Dunn refused to discuss the details of “private conversations with the president,” dinners with the economic team or conversations with book authors.

But she added: “I take issue with the idea that [the White House] was a place where senior women weren’t involved in every aspect of every major decision and their voices weren’t heard.”

Obama, according to the book published by Harper Collins, failed to call on Romer after asking her male colleagues for their opinions. The snub prompted Romer to pass a note to Summers where she threatened to walk out of the dinner, according to the book.

The Obama White House has long been dogged by similar claims of exclusivity — his golf outings have been typically all-male affairs, though Melody Barnes, who heads the Domestic Policy Council was invited on at least one round of golf in October 2009 after much grumbling about Obama’s choice of golf buddies.

In a staff shake-up after the midterms, Obama pushed out his long time aides, Robert Gibbs, former press secretary, and senior aide David Axelrod, according to the book — both remain top advisers to Obama’s reelection campaign. Karen Finney, former communications director for the Democratic National Committee, made the shortlist to replace Gibbs — new Chief of Staff William Daley had expressed the desire to add more women to the inner circle — but the job ultimately went to Jay Carney, former press secretary to Vice President Biden.

On the economy, one key claim the book makes is that Geithner failed to follow through on a March 2009 order to look into dissolving Citigroup, and Obama realized that “the speed with which the bureaucracy could exercise my decision was slower than I wanted.”

A senior Treasury official pushed back against the book’s claims, saying that Suskind’s account of Geithner dragging his feet on on Obama’s Citigroup directive is simply untrue.

In the book Geithner also denies that he ignored Obama’s order, but the book offers a portrait of a president who was outmaneuvered by Beltway insiders, according to Suskind.

“The Citibank incident, and others like it, reflected a more pernicious and personal dilemma emerging from inside the administration: that the young president’s authority was being systematically undermined or hedged by seasoned advisers,” the book says.

Key decisions over the size of the February 2009 stimulus package and the restructuring of major banks were all hampered by disagreements, and left Obama’s advisers feeling adrift.

  76. shadowfax,
Should we have a depressed President??? This article isn’t going to make people feel sorry for him….it will make them feel more sorry for themselves, but of coarse the bots will feel sorry for him and perhaps vote for their depressed President….personally I want a strong President…one who can handle the stress without lashing out, without getting migraines, and one who can prioritize….we certainly don’t have this with “His Weakness”….

As Hillary said…we need one that can hit the ground running and one without training wheels and a huge useless ego.

BTW, my Dad fell and broke his acetabulum….he’s bed bound for at least 3 weeks and his lungs are already wet…please pray for him…he’s 88.

She didn’t know who they were so I have been at youtube finding some songs for her. One of my favorites was remade and not as perfect as the original but someone put that song to 9-11 remembrances and it is powerful imagery:

It is Friday, so I think music is okay to post?

2nd Obama fundraiser linked to loan program that aided Solyndra

The revelation is likely to spur new inquiries about the solar company’s political influence. Separately, California lawmakers seek investigation of a state tax break the firm received.

The White House faced mounting political complications as a second top fundraiser for President Obama was linked to a federal loan guarantee program that backed a now-bankrupt Silicon Valley solar energy company, and as two California lawmakers called for investigations of a state tax break granted to the firm.

Steve Spinner, who helped monitor the Energy Department’s issuance of $25 billion in government loan guarantees to renewable energy projects, was one of Obama’s top fundraisers in 2008 and is raising money for the president’s 2012 reelection campaign.

Spinner did not have any role in the selection of applicants for the loan program and, in fact, was recused from the decision to grant a $535-million loan guarantee to Solyndra Inc. because his wife’s law firm represented the company, administration officials said Friday.

But Spinner’s role as a top official in the Energy Department program, which had not been previously revealed, is likely to spur new inquiries into whether political influence played a role in the handling of the “green” energy fund. Solyndra faces a congressional probe, a criminal investigation and separate internal inquiries at the Energy and Treasury departments.

“This will fuel more questions, and now you’ve got real people involved at the inspector-general level who will be turning over chairs and cabinets, asking questions,” said Stanley Brand, a criminal defense and ethics lawyer in Washington who has served as general counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives.

He noted that none of the details that had emerged suggested any laws had been broken. “It’s embarrassing, it’s ham-handed, it looks bad, but so far all we have is the White House trying to advantage itself in a political way with a loan,” he said.

The largest investments in Solyndra were funds operated on behalf of the family foundation of billionaire George Kaiser, another major fundraiser for Obama in 2008. Kaiser has denied personally investing in the solar energy company or talking to White House officials about the loan.

Some Republicans in Congress charge that the White House pushed to get the loan approved for political reasons, which the White House denies.

Before its collapse, Solyndra was a showcase of the White House initiative to develop clean-energy alternatives. Obama visited the factory in May and praised Solyndra as a green technology company that would create jobs and help lead the country’s economic recovery.

The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Sept. 6. Two days later, agents with the FBI and Energy Department’s inspector general served a search warrant at Solyndra headquarters in an inquiry focusing on whether the company misled the government in applying for the loans.

In announcing its closure, Solyndra cited an unexpected reduction in demand for its products and intense competition from Chinese companies that drove down the price of solar panels it could sell.

Spinner, who raised at least $500,000 for Obama in 2008, is leading efforts to raise money from the technology industry for the president’s reelection campaign. He did not respond to requests for comment Friday.

Last week, he invited Obama fundraisers who were in Chicago for a national finance committee meeting to the launch of the Technology for Obama fundraising program. In July, the Obama campaign credited Spinner with raising between $200,000 and $500,000 so far this year.

Spinner was a Silicon Valley investor who founded a sports and wellness company before he joined the administration in April 2009 after serving on Obama’s transition team. He was named an advisor to Energy Secretary Steven Chu and was charged with helping oversee a loan guarantee program authorized by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the economic stimulus program.

“Steve Spinner acted as a liaison between the Recovery Act Office and the Loan Programs Office,” Energy Department spokesman Damien LaVera said in a statement Friday. “In that capacity, he played no role in the decision-making or evaluation of the Solyndra loan application.”

During his tenure, the program approved 20 loan guarantees totaling $25 billion for energy storage, wind power and solar generation, according to Spinner’s resume on LinkedIn. Among them was final approval for Solyndra, which planned to manufacture thin solar modules for flat rooftops.

New Day, a New White House Scandal: First Solyndra, Now LightSquared

    Townhall.com ^ | September 17, 2011 | Bob Beauprez

It must feel like SSDD at the White House – same stuff, different day. While the stink from the Solyndra political corruption scandal continues to grow, a new one is involving a 4-star Air Force General and military intelligence erupted yesterday from Capitol Hill.

According to reports published by The Daily Beast, General William Shelton, Commander of the Air Force Space Command Center at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, said the “White House tried to pressure him to change his testimony to make it more favorable to a company tied to a large Democratic donor. ”

The company is LightSquared, a Virginia wireless broadband provider seeking approval for a coast-to-coast wireless network. The majority owner of LightSquared is Harbinger Capital Partners an investment fund whose CEO, Philip Falcone, is a large Democrat Party donor.

The bandwidth spectrum proposed to be used by LightSquared would be very close to the global GPS system used by private industry as well as the U.S. military and intelligence communities. Although LightSquared maintains their proposal would be “quiet neighborhood” network, the Pentagon and industry experts have voiced serious concerns that the “tens of thousands of ground stations for a wireless network could drown out the GPS signal.”

Prior to appearing before the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee, the White House reviewed and recommended changes to General Shelton’s testimony that would have been favorable to LightSquared. “There was an attempt to influence the text of the testimony and to engage LightSquared in the process in order to bias his (Gen. Shelton’s) testimony.” Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH), the Committee Chairman told The Daily Beast. “The only people who were involved in the process in preparation for the hearing included the Department of Defense, the White House, and the Office of Management and Budget.”

    (So far, we know this)

According to the report, the White House pressed Gen. Shelton to alter his testimony on two critical points: first, that the General supported the White House policy to add more broadband for commercial use (a campaign pledge by Obama), and secondly that the Pentagon would try to resolve the questions around LightSquared with testing in just 90 days. Instead of caving to the White House pressure, General Shelton “chafed at the intervention” and blew the whistle.

(so far- so good! Now… is what follows additional info-?)

Consistent with what has become standard-operating-procedure, the White House issued a statement denying any wrong doing or pressure on the General.

LightSquared was granted conditional approval for their system in 2004, but the go-ahead for build out of the whole system has been stalled because technical experts have warned that the “proposal to build tens of thousands of ground stations for a wireless network could drown out the GPS signal.”

Indeed, General Shelton testified that preliminary tests concluded that only a portion of the band that was licensed in 2004 “would cause significant disruptions to GPS.”

Members of Congress have smelled a rat in the LightSquared deal for some time recognizing that the Administration and the FCC have been trying to rush through an approval for the proposal. “The FCC’s fast-tracking of LightSquared raises questions about whether the government is rushing this project at the expense of all kinds of other things, including national security and everyone who uses GPS, from agriculture to emergency medical technicians,” said Sen. Chuck Grassley who has been suspicious since at least last April. “Without transparency, and with media coverage of political connections in this case, there’s no way to know whether the agency is trying to help friends in need or really looking out for the public’s interest.”

(I have the feeling Soros/aka Mini-Me is the reason for the expansion of the broadband for commerical use- I can see Soros sitting at his desk monitoring something or someone using the GPS capabilities of LightSquared. The name of the company also suggests Soros is involved in this.)

In April, Grassley asked the Chairman of the FCC Julius Genachowski to hand over all records of communications, including emails between Falcone and the FCC, and LightSquared and the FCC. Genachowski declined to turn over those records.

Genachowski is a political appointee of Barack Obama. He cut his teeth as an aid to New York Senator Chuck Schumer before making millions in the telecommunications industry. He was a classmate of Obama’s at the Harvard law school, and became a critical member of the 2008 campaign and transition team credited for the development of the sophisticated campaign communications system utilizing social media networks.

Perhaps trying to get ahead of a developing scandal involving one of the military’s top commanders, on Tuesday the FCC issued a public notice prohibiting LightSquared from further build out until more testing proves our GPS would not be damaged.

I feel really secure knowing our country’s movements are being monitored by an insane foreign national nut-job Hell bent on the destruction of our country.

Obama’s Solyndra scandal reeks of the Chicago Way

Those of us from Chicago know exactly what the Solyndra scandal smells like. And It doesn’t smell fresh and green.

    John Kass

    September 18, 2011

The Solyndra scandal cost at least a half-billion public dollars. It is plaguing President Barack Obama. And it’s being billed as a Washington story.

But back in Obama’s political hometown, those of us familiar with the Chicago Way can see something else in Solyndra — something that the Washington crowd calls “optics.” In fact, it’s not just a Washington saga — it has all the elements of a Chicago City Hall story, except with more zeros.

U.S. Department of Energy The FBI is investigating what happened with Solyndra, a solar panel company that got a $535 million government-backed loan with the help of the Obama White House over the objections of federal budget analysts.

Obama and Vice President Joe Biden got a nice photo op. They got to make speeches about being “green.” But then Solyndra went bankrupt. Americans lost jobs. Taxpayers got stuck with the bill. And members of Congress are now in high dudgeon and making speeches.

Federal investigators want to know what role political fundraising played in the guarantee of the questionable loan. Washington bureaucrats warned the deal was lousy. And White House spokesmen flail desperately, like weakened victims in a cheesy vampire movie.

So forget optics. What about smell? It smells bad, and it’s going to smell worse.

Or, did you really believe it when the White House mouthpieces — who are also Chicago City Hall mouthpieces — promised they were bringing a new kind of politics to Washington?

This is not a new kind of politics. It’s the old kind. The Chicago kind.

And now the Tribune Washington Bureau has reported that the U.S. Department of Energy employee who helped monitor the Solyndra loan guarantee was one of Obama’s top fundraisers.

    Fundraising? Contracts? Imagine that.

Steve Spinner was the Obama administration official in charge of handing out billions and billions of tax dollars to “green” energy deals. According to the Tribune story, Spinner the other day invited Obama’s national political finance committee to a meeting in Chicago.

The name of the Obama fundraising initiative?

    “Technology for Obama.”

The idea of the Obama fundraisers getting together, talking “green,” and perhaps offering taxpayer loan guarantees to insider businesses in the interest of helping the environment — it all seems rather fresh.

    Like a mountain meadow.

Until you realize it’s the same old politics, the same kind practiced in Washington and Chicago and anywhere else where appetites are satisfied by politicians. When the government picks winners and losers, who’s the loser? Just look in the mirror, hold that thought, and tell me later.

Republicans are hoping to hang this around Obama’s political neck, and they’re doing a good job of it now because his approval ratings are low and the jobless numbers are abysmal and the Democrats are in full killer-rabbit panic. But there have been Republican national scandals, too, and they’re always ridiculously and depressingly similar.

At least in Illinois our scandals are quite ecumenical, with Republicans eager to help Democrats steal whatever they can grab.

In Solyndra, like any proper City Hall political scandal, there are similar archetypes.

There are the guys who count. The guys who bring the cash. They count because they do the counting. They have leverage. They’re always there at the fundraisers. And so they’re the ones who are allowed to gorge at the public trough.

The bureaucrats are the fulcrum so the guys with the leverage can lift great weight without too much effort. And while they might whine privately among themselves, they don’t hold news conferences to blow the whistle.

They keep their mouths shut until the deal is done. If anyone gets caught and the problem becomes public, at least they’ve got email to cover their behinds. And they’re doing a good job covering.

But there’s one group that doesn’t get their behinds covered.

Instead, their behinds are right out there, suspended foolishly, and waiting to get kicked.

We’re the taxpayers — in Illinois we call ourselves chumbolones because we’re the ones who stupidly end up covering all the losses. As in the Solyndra mess.

It’s the Chicago Way, but instead of a paving or trucking contract, it’s a “green” solar panel contract. The company received a $535 million loan.

“The optics of a Solyndra default will be bad,” according to a Jan. 31 email from an Office of Management and Budget staffer printed in the Washington Post. “If Solyndra defaults down the road, the optics will arguably be worse later than they would be today. … In addition, the timing will likely coincide with the 2012 campaign season heating up.”

I love the use of “optics.” It’s one of those bloodless words finding favor these days.

“Optics” suggests bureaucrats might think in terms of symbolism, political hieroglyphs, in grand vistas, rather than in hard numbers, like the $535,000,000 that went poof.

But it’s not their money, is it? It’s ours.

So this is not about Washington optics after all. The Solyndra scandal is about the Washington smell of things.

Those of us from Chicago know exactly what it smells like. And It doesn’t smell fresh and green.

The Chicago Way…everyone should be pouncing on that…

There was so much money that they made a grab for in the years since 2007 that they became careless and a number of documents and recordings have been acquired with multiple members signing or driving a matter together. Each Club member is assigned up to 5 members of Congress that they control and influence with incentives and future career upside.”

  90. Michelle Obama for Parental Notification?

    Creative Minority Report ^ | 9/16/11 | matthew archbold

Today Michelle Obama will hold a press conference with restaurants today to tout an iniative that kid’s meals come with sides of fruit. If a child wants fries an adult has to approve the fries.

Seriously. All kids’ meals will automatically come with a side of fruit or vegetables and eight ounces of 1 percent milk unless an adult requests a substitute, Drew Madsen, president and chief operating officer of Orlando, Fla.-based Darden, told The Associated Press.

So the Obamas are for parental notification…for french fries. I say, we’re for Tax Payer notification and approval for the Obama’s planned vacations !

    per: ‘Tax Payer’ Club

  91. Ohhh… just spotted six hawks circling overhead in my back yard- what a site to see… a few with white tipped wings..

  92. All kids’ meals will automatically come with a side of fruit or vegetables and eight ounces of 1 percent milk unless an adult requests a substitute
You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink.

  93. Clear sense from Kass as usual:

    As in the Solyndra mess.
It’s the Chicago Way, but instead of a paving or trucking contract, it’s a “green” solar panel contract. The company received a $535 million loan.

But we still need pavement — and green energy. Just get it from honest vendors.

Obama sure isn’t! He’s just a male model.

(Dunno about Carter. He did good work as Gov of Georgia.)

  96. Mrs Smith
i caught a bit of the kid/flag story on fox yesterday and i was appalled at the journalism. The kid suffers from autism and is very likely prone to outbursts of anger. A long stick with a point at the end is not a good idea. The school cannot defend it’s actions as if they say we were worried he might lash out due to his condition they open themselves up for a lawsuit –if they had let him keep it and he injured another kid or teacher again lawsuit. Pens and Pencils are also different, special ed classes have like a 1 to 6 teacher student ratio and often have 2 college interns/externs. Non-story. just like the guy who lived in a neighborhood association who was a vet and decided he wanted to hang out a flag. The board said no and he sued. He moved into the community knowing the rules. I have a friend who got fined for her 12 year old boys(twins) leaving their bikes in the driveway. Yet FOX painted this community in a horrid light.

  97. lil ole grape
The funniest thing about the “deal- Darden got a waiver for obummercare” is that it is going to take ten years to implement. They are slowly going to reduce sodium and make gradual changes to the menu. How is that not absurd?
When the sleeveless Klingon was hell bent on going after fast food I felt like mind your own business and why did you surrender your right to practice law, but low end casual dining? Really? How often does a struggling family of four eat at the Olive Garden? Once a month? Less? Going out to eat when I was a kid was a royal treat. We celebrated something. Imagine going out all dressed up and being served cardboard when you are 7. Absurd. Fries fried in lard and bacon wrapped in shrimp wrapped in bacon and then fried in the lard once a month will not put weight on a child.

  98. henry

    Informative video-

The boy with the flag taken away is autistic. He’s actually a gifted history savant- and very smart.

The video gives a complete picture of the boy’s situation. The 7th grade boy’s response to a solder deployed to Iraq was very moving and the reason why the flag was gifted to him.

    Story and video here:

There is no mention of him having a behavior problem. So, we really don’t know-

  99. Mrs Smith
he has a great back story and maybe he never reacts inappropriately but a child should not enter a school environment with a long pointy stick no matter what is attached to it. I think the mother dropped the dime. How do you let your child. Emotions involved. So FOX grow up and look how some little misunderstanding on local news should not be painting a school district as un-American.
Also I send my miscreant to the local public kindergarten and everyone walks except for the children in need of more attention. Those children get door to door to protect them from other kids as well as others. There is no teacher on the van to mitigate the situation. No long sticks with a point on the end does not seem unreasonable.

  100. Mrs. Smith
Thing is the school can never ever ever say he was violent or they would be sued. I think the school handled it very well.

  101. Mrs Smith
I have to correct my last statement which was beyond stupid. Children with autism are not violent.

  102. [quote]Honesty from Summers as usual. I like him. He can’t be bought, because he owns his field already.

  105. Obama admin reworked Solyndra loan to favor donor

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration restructured a half-billion dollar federal loan to a troubled solar energy company in such a way that private investors — including a fundraiser for President Barack Obama — moved ahead of taxpayers for repayment in case of a default, government records show.

Administration officials defended the loan restructuring, saying that without an infusion of cash earlier this year, solar panel maker Solyndra Inc. would likely have faced immediate bankruptcy, putting more than 1,000 people out of work.

Even with the federal help, Solyndra filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this month and laid off its 1,100 employees.

The Fremont, Calif.-based company was the first renewable-energy company to receive a loan guarantee under a stimulus-law program to encourage green energy and was frequently touted by the Obama administration as a model. Obama visited the company’s Silicon Valley headquarters last year, and Vice President Joe Biden spoke by satellite at its groundbreaking.

Since then, the implosion of the company and revelations that the administration hurried Office of Management and Budget officials to finish their review of the loan in time for the September 2009 groundbreaking has become an embarrassment for Obama as he sells his new job-creation program around the country.

An Associated Press review of regulatory filings shows that Solyndra was hemorrhaging hundreds of millions of dollars for years before the Obama administration signed off on the original $535 million loan guarantee in September 2009. The company eventually got $528 million.

Given the company’s shaky financial condition, Republican lawmakers say the decision to restructure the loan raises questions about whether the administration protected political supporters at taxpayers’ expense.

“You should have protected the taxpayers and made some forceful actions here after this analysis,” Rep. Cliff Stearns, R-Fla., told a top Energy Department official this week. “Because you should have seen the problems. And you should have said, ‘Taxpayers need to be protected and this has got to stop.’ ”

The loan restructuring is one element congressional investigators are focusing on as they look into the federal loan guarantee Solyndra received under the economic stimulus law.

Under terms of the February loan restructuring, two private investors — Argonaut Ventures I LLC and Madrone Partners LP — stand to be repaid before the U.S. government if the solar company is liquidated. The two firms gave the company a total of $69 million in emergency loans. The loans are the only portion of their investments that have repayment priority above the U.S. government.

Argonaut is an investment vehicle of the George Kaiser Family Foundation of Tulsa, Okla. The foundation is headed by billionaire George Kaiser, a major Obama campaign contributor and a frequent visitor to the White House. Kaiser raised between $50,000 and $100,000 for Obama’s 2008 campaign, federal election records show. Kaiser has made at least 16 visits to the president’s aides since 2009, according to White House visitor logs.

Madrone Partners is affiliated with the Walton family, descendants of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton. Rob Walton, the eldest son of Sam Walton, contributed $2,500 last year to the National Republican Congressional Committee.

The AP review also found that officials at Solyndra had been seeking a second round of loans from the Energy Department to expand the company’s Silicon Valley headquarters. The request for a second loan was denied.

“We have incurred significant net losses since our inception, including a net loss of $114.1 million in 2007, $232.1 million in 2008 and $119.8 million in the first nine months of fiscal 2009, and we had an accumulated deficit of $505 million at Oct. 3, 2009,” the company said in a December 2009 filing to the SEC. “We expect to continue to incur significant operating and net losses and negative cash flow from operations for the foreseeable future.”

Energy Department spokesman Damien LaVera said Friday that the company’s financial losses were not uncommon for a high-tech startup and were a major reason Solyndra applied for the federal loan. The loan program is intended to help promising companies that cannot receive financing through private banks because of high risk.

Jonathan Silver, executive director of the Energy Department’s loan program, said DOE officials faced a stark choice late last year and early this year: Refuse to allow the loan restructuring, “thereby ensuring that Solyndra would close its doors immediately” or allow the company to accept emergency financing, “thereby giving it and its almost 1,000 workers a fighting chance at success, and the government a higher expected recovery on its loan.”

The decision by Energy Secretary Steven Chu was not an easy one, Silver told the House Energy and Commerce Committee, but appeared to be the right action at the time.

“Without DOE’s agreement to restructure Solyndra’s loan, the company likely would have faced bankruptcy much earlier — in December 2010” or soon after, Silver said. “Restructuring gave them a fighting chance to compete and succeed, and kept approximately 1,000 workers from losing their jobs.”

    Republicans were not impressed.

“If their model was weak to begin with, and then the market gets worse, doesn’t that mean that maybe we should have just not thrown good money after bad?” asked Rep. Morgan Griffith, R-Va. “Because now we’re in a worse position in the bankruptcy courts to get our money back.”

GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann called the Solyndra loan an example of “crony capitalism” that benefited political donors.

“It’s wrong to abuse executive authority with unilateral actions” Bachmann said at a campaign event Friday in California. “And of course the other problem with Solyndra is the fact that it appears there was crony capitalism, that there were political donors that benefited by this $535 million loan.”

Newly released emails show the White House was worried about the likely effect of a default by Solyndra on Obama’s re-election campaign.

“The optics of a Solyndra default will be bad,” an OMB official wrote in a Jan. 31 email to a colleague. “The timing will likely coincide with the 2012 campaign season heating up.”

The budget official, whose name is blacked out in the email, wondered whether Solyndra should be allowed to restructure its loan.

“Questions will be asked as to why the administration made a bad investment, not just once (which could hopefully be explained as part of the challenge of supporting innovative technologies), but twice (which could easily be portrayed as bad judgment, or worse),” the email says.

Exactly- where in the UCC Rules is a private investor invited, encouraged or allowed to cross over in place of the government’s fiduciary responsibility to the Tax-Payers for repayment of government loans?

Obama administration making up their own Rules as they go along?

  106. after the “day of rage” coincidence i think not?

President Barack Obama, in a populist step designed to appeal to voters, will propose a “Buffett Tax” on people making more than $1 million a year as part of his deficit recommendations to Congress on Monday.

Such a proposal, among suggestions to a congressional supercommittee expected to seek up to $3 trillion in deficit savings over 10 years, would appeal to his Democratic base ahead of the 2012 election but likely not raise much in revenues.

Utter stupidity, its waging war on job creators in the middle of a recession/depression for a political score. It will not raise more money, it will lose revenue and jobs will be cut, wages will be lowered.

  107. US taxpayers could be on hook for Europe bailout

By John W. Schoen, Senior Producer

The U.S. is coming to Europe’s financial rescue.

So far, America’s role is fairly limited. But if the crisis continues to grow and the U.S. takes on a wider role, U.S. consumers and taxpayers could feel a bigger impact. The biggest exposure could come from America’s status as the single largest source of money for the International Monetary Fund.

(The same Fund Soros wanted to use for his Cap and Trade scheme volunteered at the Climate Change Summit)

The latest round of American financial assistance came Thursday with a promise by the Federal Reserve to swap as many dollars for euros as European bankers need. In the short run, those transactions won’t have much impact because the central banks are simply swapping currencies of equal value. If the move helps avert a wider crisis, it could help spare the global economy from another recession.

(The Euro is losing traction in Europe. We should swap Dollars for projected Monopoly money?)

But over the long term, consumers could feel the impact of central bankers flooding the financial system with cash, according to John Ryding, chief economist at RDQ Economics.

“This is a lender of last resort function,” he told CNBC. “With the dollar injections that the Fed has done, it’s like giving a patient medicine with really bad side effects.” Ryding said the bad side effect in the U.S. has been inflation, which has picked up to 3.8 percent year over year.

Fed policymakers meet next week to decide whether the flagging U.S. economy needs another round of easy-money measures that could include buying more Treasury bonds to push more cash into the financial system.

So far, no one has floated publicly the idea of the U.S underwriting a broader bailout of the European financial system. But Senate Republicans have already voiced concerns over such a move.

“Our concern is that innocent American taxpayers will pay for yet another bailout — this time to one or several countries whose spending and debt choices led them to financial calamity,” Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and seven other Republican senators wrote in a letter to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner in June.

The source of the senators’ concern is an emergency provision, approved by the Group of 20 industrialized nations in 2009, granting the IMF broad powers to expand its lending authority. That could leave American taxpayers on the hook for any IMF loans that later go bad.

In July, Geithner sought to reassure the senators that won’t happen.

“The United States has never experienced a loss on its IMF commitments,” Geithner wrote. “The IMF’s claims are recognized by Europe to stand ahead of all others. This, along with the IMF’s strong financial resources, provides further assurance that our claims on the fund are secure.”

On Friday, Geithner made an unprecedented trip to meet with European officials who are wrestling with the creation of a bailout fund similar to the U.S. government response to the Panic of 2008. With European Union leaders deadlocked for over a year, Geithner, one of the architects of the U.S. financial bailout in 2008, urged the group to move more aggressively to solve a widening debt crisis that threatens to send the world back into recession.

Investors have become increasingly worried that a $740 billion euro EU bailout fund isn’t big enough to cope with potential losses if Greece and other countries default on their debts, wiping out those assets held by European banks. With richer countries like Germany and France unwilling to commit more funds, Geithner wants the Europeans to boost the existing bailout fund’s firepower. One idea would be to use the money just to guarantee losses from bond defaults rather than buying up the bonds themselves.

European officials are running out of ideas. This week, German Chancellor Angela Merkel shot down the idea of a unified Euro bond that would be substituted for the debt issued by individual nations.

After a year and half of failed attempts at a solution, the world economy has entered a “dangerous new phase” IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde said in a Washington speech Thursday.

So far, the IMF has played a supporting role in a “troika” of agencies working to head off a Greek default that include the European Central Banks and the European Union. With Greece approaching a cash squeeze at the end of this month, those agencies are demanding deeper “austerity” measures – budget cuts of higher taxes – before releasing those funds.

As the largest shareholder, the United States provides the biggest single source of funding to the IMF. The ownership stake also gives the U.S. veto power over IMF funding decisions. Geithner is a member of the IMF board of governors. Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke is an alternate governor.

IMF funding requires congressional approval. But following the financial crisis of 2008, the Group of 20 countries approved a plan to give the IMF emergency borrowing authority, a program known as New Arrangements for Borrowing, which tripled the IMF’s lending authority to $750 billion. The borrowing authority is set to expire in November.

  108. Holy Crap….The Chicago Tribune calls on Obama to not run for re-election and hand it over to Hillary. Now thats gotta hurt.

    Why Obama should withdraw

When Ronald Reagan ran for re-election in 1984, his slogan was “Morning in America.” For Barack Obama, it’s more like midnight in a coal mine.

The sputtering economy is about to stall out, unemployment is high, his jobs program may not pass, foreclosures are rampant and the poor guy can’t even sneak a cigarette.

His approval rating is at its lowest level ever. His party just lost two House elections — one in a district it had held for 88 consecutive years. He’s staked his future on the jobs bill, which most Americans don’t think would work.

The vultures are starting to circle. Former White House spokesman Bill Burton said that unless Obama can rally the Democratic base, which is disillusioned with him, “it’s going to be impossible for the president to win.” Democratic consultant James Carville had one word of advice for Obama: “Panic.”

But there is good news for the president. I checked the Constitution, and he is under no compulsion to run for re-election. He can scrap the campaign, bag the fundraising calls and never watch another Republican debate as long as he’s willing to vacate the premises by Jan. 20, 2013.

That might be the sensible thing to do. It’s hard for a president to win a second term when unemployment is painfully high. If the economy were in full rebound mode, Obama might win anyway. But it isn’t, and it may fall into a second recession — in which case voters will decide his middle name is Hoover, not Hussein. Why not leave of his own volition instead of waiting to get the ax?

It’s not as though there is much enticement to stick around. Presidents who win re-election have generally found, wrote John Fortier and Norman Ornstein in their 2007 book, “Second-Term Blues,” that “their second terms did not measure up to their first.”

Presidential encores are generally a bog of frustration, exhaustion and embarrassment. They are famous for lowest moments rather than finest hours. Richard Nixon was forced to resign in disgrace, Reagan had the Iran-Contra scandal, and Bill Clinton made the unfortunate acquaintance of Monica Lewinsky.

Administration officials get weary after four years and leave in droves. The junior varsity has to be put into service. New ideas are hard to come by.

Someone said that when a man is smitten with a beautiful woman, he should remember that somebody somewhere is tired of her. Likewise, the most inspiring presidents get stale after years of constant overexposure.

In the event he wins, Obama could find himself with Republicans in control of both houses of Congress. Then he will long for the good old days of 2011. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker John Boehner will bound out of bed each day eager to make his life miserable.

Besides avoiding this indignity, Obama might do his party a big favor. In hard times, voters have a powerful urge to punish incumbents. He could slake this thirst by stepping aside and taking the blame. Then someone less reviled could replace him at the top of the ticket.

The ideal candidate would be a figure of stature and ability who can’t be blamed for the economy. That person should not be a member of Congress, since it has an even lower approval rating than the president’s.

It would also help to be conspicuously associated with prosperity. Given Obama’s reputation for being too quick to compromise, a reputation for toughness would be an asset.

As it happens, there is someone at hand who fits this description: Hillary Clinton. Her husband presided over a boom, she’s been busy deposing dictators instead of destroying jobs, and she’s never been accused of being a pushover.

Not only that, Clinton is a savvy political veteran who already knows how to run for president. Oh, and a new Bloomberg poll finds her to be merely “the most popular national political figure in America today.”

If he runs for re-election, Obama may find that the only fate worse than losing is winning. But he might arrange things so it will be Clinton who has the unenviable job of reviving the economy, balancing the budget, getting out of Afghanistan and grappling with House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. Obama, meanwhile, will be on a Hawaiian beach, wrestling the cap off a Corona.

Panic of 2008? Why shroud the banks who caused the financial crisis in 2008 from embarrassment by assigning an inconsequential label targeting the people who saved them with a ‘fright night’ meme.. a little bit of revisionist history perhaps?

The same Banker barons who ran the US economy into the ground expect the US Tax-Payer to bail out foreign banks and their countries?… George Soros is working overtime. No wonder Geithner wanted to get out of Dodge in June. The nefarious plans we are hearing about now were formed well advance of this late date asking for Foreign Country Bail-Outs… Geithner is afraid he is going to be held personally responsible if he agrees with their plan and goes forward with it–

Good thinking, Timmy- The American people are on to you. They have their buckets of Tar and Feathers waiting for you to make the wrong move not in their best interest. Will they hold your best friend, Obama responsible for this fool hearty move?

Heck no- you know better than anyone else, he doesn’t operate that way… You and your family, dear one, are disposable. Obama has you listed under the collateral damage heading. And just remember, Eric Holder is indispose. He is too busy defending himself and our great leader from other migraine headaches created by the Obama/Soros/Jarrett co-presidency.

  110. moon-

Bill is scheduled to be on MTP this morning- I’ll bet he will address the very issues we posted this morning..

  111. Mrs. Smith: The article you posted comes a week too late and is way off track. Geithner attended the Euro summit this week with a plea to lend more money to Greece and the Franco-Germans sent him off packing with a stinging rebuff.

Before Geithner, the summit had met with BRIC representatives who were very willing to buy European debt, which is in striking contrast to their very negative attitude toward acquiring US debt. So the crack “Should we trade US dollars for projected Monopoly money?” is completely upside-down.

This whole scare of a Euro financial crisis was prompted by Lagarde’s wild comments last week that European banks should recapitalize, followed by a downgrade of 4 French and German banks that had lent money to Greece.

In response this week, during the summit, the “Eurogroup” of Europe’s finance ministers created the “EMF”, or “Euro Monetary Fund” to offset Lagarde’s IMF. This is one more step toward the Euro becoming the world’s reserve currency.

As things stand today, the Euro is strongest currency in the world (Monopoly money my eye!) and accounts for about 30% of world reserves, to the Dollar’s 60% plus about 10% for the pound Sterling and a sliver for the Yen.

Actually, what Geithner was offering was to dilute European sovereign debt with inflated US dollars to keep the dollar in place and weaken the Euro further. With the “EMF” and the BRIC promise in hand, the Europeans felt they had better things to do.

  112. various re Mrs. Smith comments: BC. Am certain he’s too good for the likes of DC, so concern for his life and Hillary’s is difficult to dismiss. Look what Repub’s have done to them over the years. Michelle Bachmann still carries that hatred and is why I don’t support her. However, if push came to shove, I would rethink my stance. What I have to say next may go over like a lead balloon, but I believe it and am going to state it. Perhaps this Obama interval will lead to some good. I believe it has jolted many into realizing HRC’s value to the country, thus serving as a balm toward the pervasive hatred which used to exist. For example, my brother was astute enough to oppose GWB, meaning that he was capable of spotting a deficient candidate. So I know his hatred of HRC (flamed by his own masculine deficits, Republicans, and the ever-vicious media) was the entire reason for him supporting BHO.

Perhaps BC is not paired with Cheney, but going solo this Sunday. Sorry for the inaccuracy regarding that.

Now for the topic which brought me here at this time. I’ve stated before that the massive East Coast flooding should qualify asObie’s infrastructure stimulus. It is work that definitely needs to be done and will benefit the people affected because they are currently unable to maintain the status quo of their lives until this work is completed. The following outlines the severity of problems facing some of that area:

Cash-strapped states scramble to fix roads |
    Region’s crumbling infrastructure reaching crisis

Years of shuffling money around and narrowly avoiding transportation funding gaps have led to a Washington region with crumbling roads and projects years behind schedule. Now, as lawmakers are again forced to consider slashing budgets or raising taxes, major and unexpected repairs from this month’s flooding have added millions of dollars to the problem in just a few days. snip The unexpected repairs, which state highway administrations estimate will take more than a year to permanently replace, come at a time when cash-strapped Maryland and Virginia have been putting off road fixes and ways to shore up their transportation coffers. “It’s hard to overstate the seriousness of the problem,” said Richard Parsons, spokesman for the Suburban Maryland Transportation Alliance. “In part it’s because we’re dealing with a legacy of 30 years of not spending what we should have been spending. And now on top of that we have a budget crisis. snip

  113. Jeswezy-

How off track and too late is it if Geithner went through with the deal and American Tax Payers would be on the hook for the debt regardless?

  114. Mrs. Smith – Don’t get you. The Euros didn’t accept Geithner’s proposal, which would not have been a bailout but a loan of printed money.

  115. BC.

Absolutely- and Hillary needs him at her back even moreso than ever before. The mini-kingpins have to be neutralized as well, simultaneously when and if Obama is pushed out of the race. namely (Axelrod-Jarrett-Plough) Anyone who can take up the mantle and continue the threat of Chicago terrorism ( against Hillary ) even if Obama renegs on his re-election run. Soros has stepped out of the shadows in defense of his puppet. And with him in the mix, he brings a whole new gaggle of hit men who do this daily for a living..

I really don’t want her out there free and easy tempting fate letting ego overtake logic and commonsense hopefully accepting the fact it is in “their” best interests she doesn’t exist to ultimately thwart their plans of a complete take down of the US. Hillary has to be realistic and not fall into the trap of wondering what people think of her. We need her desperately to fix these problems before we go over the cliff into the abyss forever and ever. Her safety is our priority if she is to do any good for the country. And should be hers for our sake and the grandchildren she has yet to embrace and hold in her arms.

If you notice, The Meet the Press interview with Bill was done in advance away from the usual live broadcast at their studio. O’Connell will be making an appearance this morning, after BC I imagine.

Mrs. Smith – Don’t get you. The Euros didn’t accept Geithner’s proposal, which would not have been a bailout but a loan of printed money.

Yes, that was the news you updated today- my post took that into consideration without the update.

  117. He’s been dealt a tough hand?

Give me a friggin break. Shut up Bill, now, before you connect your wonderful legacy any further with the imposter in chief.

  118. A44hat David Gregory – “As my son would say – this is awkward” as he questions BC about an HRC run. Bill saying that’s normal for HRC to be more popular because she’s SOS.

I have just about reached the end of my rope with regards to cutting the Clintons’ slack for propping up the POS. Much as I would have supported HRC in 2008, I have had it. Putting party above country does not work for me.

  119. Bill is navigating the landmines Gregory has set in the field. We know where his heart is- and it ain’t with Obama. Can you possibly think political suicide is a better choice for him telling us that this president is not someone who can get the job done and turn the economy around- I think, he did a good job and for the most part the majority of people understand the tenuous position he is in for even accepting this interview, that most likely was a set up by the Soros/Obama media suckups. The S and O alliance is in a panic… even to the point of gaging how deeply their paranoia should be about the people around them… namely Bill and Hillary.

I doubt very much Bill asked to be interviewed by MTP. Rather- asking why is he there in the first place… and the only rational explanation is what I’ve mentioned in my post…

  120. Basil, i think Mrs Smith is right, Bill has to navigate choppy waters at present, if he goes after Obama now or does not offer support, if there is the slightest hint he can be leveraged out, then he has to be seen to be holding the party line, not to would be suicidal for him and Hillary. Give it time. If he does not it will be seen as tearing Obama down to replace him with Hillary. Its not ideal, its not nice but i understand whats happening.

  121. Basil.. I have 10 miles of rope left that should get us to at least 2012. I will lend you whatever you need to get through this.. please keep the faith. We need you. You are an asset to this forum and we miss you when you are not here posting..

United we stand.. divided we fall.

  122. Bwa-ha-ha-ha.

Lib journalist slips up admits she’s on the BO campaign trail then corrects herself and says she meant to say she was covering BO at some city.

    Liars all.

  123. Did anyone hear that POS Robberts say, with out batting an eye, that the civil rights bill needed Johnson to get passed because he understood congress? And then she turned around and said that nominating Hillary would all but guarantee a republican victory? I have disliked her intensely, intensely, since Bill Clinton was president when every Sunday she was able to sit as if on high, like a Pope, with Brit Hume by her side nodding, telling me what American people think. Fringing they had their finger on America’s pulse and hiding the reality that they are just sell-out shills. And the nastiest part was no one could talk back, except by throwing a shoe at the tv.

    Thank God for the Internet!!!

And by the way I tried to post that wonderful picture of Hillary that I saw on DRUDGE where she is wearing gold silver and black stripes, her hair is beautiful and best of all behind her is the American Flag showing red and white stripes and just one star which is positioned just above her head. Remember all the contrived pictures of Obama? This picture of Hillary seems prophetic to me. She is the one, has been the one all along.

  124. She is the one, has been the one all along.

Yes, and talk about prophetic. It has been foretold, ( at least with the Catholics ) that a woman will save the world (from itself). The world have never been closer to going bust than now… (with the exception of the release of the A-Bomb)

Hillary IS the one we’ve been waiting for… and we’re […] this close to getting the job done. It’s downhill for Obama all the way until 2012.

  125. “I doubt very much Bill asked to be interviewed by MTP. Rather- asking why is he there in the first place… and the only rational explanation is what I’ve mentioned in my post”

Well – – – OK moononpluto and Mrs. Smith.

But I swear I’m on the verge of personal isolationism again. Like many in this country I am fed up with the lies upon lies upon lies from both parties all the time year after year with the people being screwed again and again.

I mean, tax talk drives me up a friggin wall considering that the fox really is guarding the hen house. The gov’t takes our money, decides how to spend it, raises our bills, comes back to us when they’ve crookedly and illegally spent the money and cry about how the American people need safety nets and we must pay more.

Like the half billion for Solyndra. Like the $10 million MO has spent on lavish vacations. Like the “stimulus,” the “shovel-ready jobs” that according to the POS weren’t shovel-ready. The Healthcare scam, the auto buyout, the banks bailout, the redistribution. Oh well, I will shut up now. I sound like a broken record. I’m so turned off.

It’s enough to make you want to ________________ (fill in the blank).

  126. “Like the half billion for Solyndra. Like the $10 million MO has spent on lavish vacations.”

Really, that was a pretty good plan Obama concocted to benefit himself and his cronys. A good portion of that money went to construction of a brand new building. With his donor restructuring the loan, he conveniently put himself in first position for when the company goes BK he ends up with the building and the tax payer/government is out in the cold.

I have never heard of this in my financial career ever, where the government will subordinate their loan to a private party, taking second position. I don’t know how that is done. If that is the true, then this spells big trouble for whoever OK’ed the transaction. Because it is against every precept defined in major laws years ago like ‘The Social Security Act’ giving the government the power for making these loans in the first place.

  127. You sort of think, that if you are going to protest and shut down Wall St, you’d do it on a weekday, not a weekend Morning. Dumbass planning.

Palestinians to Obama: This Is All Your Fault

    September 18, 2011

Palestinian officials speaking on Saturday claimed that their bid for statehood at the United Nations was based on a 2010 speech by U.S. president Barack Obama.

    According to the Jerusalem Post,

Zakariya al-Agha, the PLO’s top representative in the Gaza Strip… said that the PA was going to the UN because US President Barack Obama, in his last speech to the UN in 2010, talked about the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state within one year.

The Palestinian Authority laid further blame on Obama by citing a last minute offer from the Obama administration to renew negotiations. Palestinian leaders claim to have been so insulted by the offer that they made the final decision to go to the U.N. then and there.

Haaretz reports a statement by negotiator Nabil Shaath,

“David Hale and Dennis Ross came with a paper that was the last straw that he [Abbas] could take,” said Shaath. “It seems that it was designed to be rejected.”

It is unlikely that any of these statements are true, given that the Palestinian bid for statehood has been building up an unstoppable momentum for many months now.

Instead, these statements are likely an attempt to either prevent or to weaken the impact of an American veto at the U.N. Security Council. It is also meant to emphasize the Palestinian role as the aggrieved and oppressed party, an image the Palestinians relish and which works for them politically.

  129. It’s pretty much a “Turkey to Obama: Drop Dead” moment…

Turkey: We don’t need U.S. mediation to end crisis with Israel

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu says Ankara’s demands from Israel are clear, adding: ‘No one should test our resolve on this matter’.

Turkey and Israel do not need the United States’ help in mending their troubled diplomatic ties, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told the French news agency AFP on Saturday, ahead of a planned meeting between U.S. President Barack Obama and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Ties between Israel and Turkey have taken another turn for the worse recently, as Ankara initiated a series of actions geared at downgrading its diplomatic ties with Jerusalem over Israel’s refusal to apologize for its raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla in 2010.

Reports on Friday alleged that Obama will meet Erdogan at the UN General Assembly in New York next week to urge the Turkism PM to repair relations with Israel, as tensions continue to rise between the two key U.S. allies in the region.

Speaking to AFP on Saturday, Davutoglu rejected the notion that the U.S. would be able to sway Turkey to back down on its hostilities toward Israel, saying: “We do not need mediation … for Israel in any way.”

“There is no such situation in which mediation is needed. The demands of Turkey are clear,” Davutoglu added, referring to Turkey’s long-standing demand that Israel apologize for the raid as well as pay compensation to the families of the nine Turks killed in the incident.

The Turkish FM insisted that “no one should test our resolve on this matter,” adding that the Americans “are probably the people who best understand Turkey’s position on this issue.”

On Friday, White House National Security Council spokesman Ben Rhodes told reporters that Obama also anticipated a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the president’s three-day U.N. visit which starts late on Monday.

“We have encouraged Israel and Turkey, two close friends of the United States, to work to bridge their differences, so we’ll have an opportunity to discuss those issues,” Rhodes told a news briefing.

  134. The Media’s Love Affair with a Disastrous President

    Rex Murphy Sep 17, 2011 – 7:00 AM ET | Last Updated: Sep 16, 2011 2:33 PM ET

As the bad economic news continues to emanate from the United States — with a double-dip recession now all but certain — a reckoning is overdue. American journalism will have to look back at the period starting with Barrack Obama’s rise, his assumption of the presidency and his conduct in it to the present, and ask itself how it came to cast aside so many of its vital functions. In the main, the establishment American media abandoned its critical faculties during the Obama campaign — and it hasn’t reclaimed them since.

Much of the Obama coverage was orchestrated sychophancy. They glided past his pretensions — when did a presidential candidate before “address the world” from the Brandenberg Gate in Berlin? They ignored his arrogance — “You’re likeable enough, Hillary.” And they averted their eyes from his every gaffe — such as the admission that he didn’t speak “Austrian.”

The media walked right past the decades-long association of Obama with the weird and racist pastor Jermiah Wright. In the midst of the brief stormlet over the issue, one CNN host — inexplicably — decided that CNN was going to be a “Wright-free zone.” He could have hung out a sign: “No bad news about Obama here.”

The media trashed Hillary. They burned Republicans. They ransacked Sarah Palin and her family. But Obama, the cool, the detached, the oracular Obama — he strolled to the presidency.

Palin, in particular, stands out as Obama’s opposite in the media’s eyes. As much as they genuflected to the one, they felt the need to turn rotweiler toward the other. If Obama was sacred , classy, intellectual and cosmopolitan, why then Palin must be malevolent, trashy, dumb and pure backwoods-ignorant.

Every doubt they hid from themselves about Obama, every potential embarrassment they tucked under the blanket of their superior sensibilities, they furiously over-compensated for by their remorseless hounding of Palin — from utterly trivial e-mails, to blogger Andrew Sullivan’s weird speculations about Palin’s womb, musings that put the Obama “Birther” fantasies into a realm near sanity. (We are now seeing an echo of that — with a new book promoting all sorts of unconfirmed gossip about Palin, including her alleged sexual dalliance with a basketball star.)

As a result, the press gave the great American republic an untried, unknown and, it is becoming more and more frighteningly clear, incompetent figure as President. Under Obama, America’s foreign policies are a mixture of confusion and costly impotence. It is increasingly bypassed or derided; the great approach to the Muslim world, symbolized by the Cairo speech, is in tatters. Its debt and deficits are a weight on the entire global economy. And the office of presidency is less and less a symbol of strength.

To the degree the press neglected its function as watchdog and turned cupbearer to a styrofoam demigod, it is a partner in the flaws and failures of what is turning out to be one of the most miserable performances in the modern history of the American presidency.

Your information is incorrect when you say that the Israelis are just moving in to Palestinian neighborhoods and appropriating them. Jews previously lived in those areas and were forced out by the Arabs.
One small anecdote for you. A friend of mine has family that live in Israel. They recently discovered the grave of a great or great great grandfather in a cemetary in the disputed east Jerusalem. This was an area where Jews had lived before being forced out by the Arabs and denied access to those areas. Now it is back under Israeli control again and they have every right to remain there. Since unlike the Jews, the Palestinians refuse to have any Jews living in a future Palistinian State, why shouldn’t they retain control.
Also, I don’t see the US giving land back to Mexico or the Indians nor Europe returning to pre WW1 boundaries. When you start a war and lose, there is a price to pay.

  136. Cleaver: If Obama wasn’t president, we would be ‘marching on the White House’

Unhappy members of the Congressional Black Caucus “probably would be marching on the White House” if Obama were not president, according to CBC Chairman Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.).

“If [former President] Bill Clinton had been in the White House and had failed to address this problem, we probably would be marching on the White House,” Cleaver told “The Miami Herald” in comments published Sunday. “There is a less-volatile reaction in the CBC because nobody wants to do anything that would empower the people who hate the president.”

CBC members have expressed concern in recent months as the unemployment rate has continued to rise amongst African-Americans, pushing for Obama to do more to address the needs of vulnerable communities.

“We’re supportive of the president, but we getting tired, y’all,” Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) said in August. “We want to give [Obama] every opportunity, but our people are hurting. The unemployment is unconscionable. We don’t know what the strategy is.”

Rather than targeting Obama’s leadership, many CBC members aimed their fire at the Tea Party movement over the summer’s congressional recess. Waters said in a public meeting in her district that the Tea Party “can go straight to hell.” Another member, Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.), called the Tea Party “the real enemy” seeking to hold Congress “hostage.”

Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.), the only Republican member of the CBC and also a member of the Tea Party Caucus, objected to hostile language used by members targeting the Tea Party movement and threatened to leave the caucus unless Cleaver condemned remarks made by other members. West singled out comments from Rep. André Carson (D-Ind.), the CBC’s whip, who said that Tea Party-affiliated members of Congress see African-Americans as “second-class citizens” and would be happy to see them “hanging from a tree.”

Cleaver persuaded West to remain a member of the caucus, with West indicating later that one reason he decided to stay was that the CBC membership needed a conservative presence.

“I will not be resigning from the Congressional Black Caucus,” West wrote on his Facebook following a meeting with Cleaver at the beginning of September. “Cowards run from challenges, while warriors run to the sound of battle.”

According to West, he is working with Cleaver to produce a plan to confront the rate for unemployment amongst African-Americans, which at 16.7 percent is nearly double the rate nationwide.

Cleaver acknowledged that some of the things members of his caucus say might not be in the best interests of the “aggressive agenda” he said he is seeking to develop as chairman.

“Maxine Waters represents central Los Angeles first and she has to represent her constituents first and she’s going to say things in order to represent them,” he said.

    read on………….

So basically if he was’nt black, they’d have canned his ass by now.

  137. Aaah here it comes….

Rahm Emanuel on Solyndra: ‘I don’t remember’

Chicago mayor and former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel said he doesn’t recall anything about the Obama administration’s $535 million loan to the recently bankrupt solar company Solyndra.

Speaking to Chicago radio station WLS 890AM at a news conference about a new wellness initiative, Emanuel said he didn’t remember anything about the failed investment loan by the Department of Energy, which critics say was fast-tracked to fit the White House’s political agenda.

“Ya know, I’m focusing on a major announcement today for the City Of Chicago,” Emanuel said. “I don’t actually remember that or know about it. So, what I’m dealing is with what I’m dealing with here today.”

Emanuel was Obama’s chief of staff during the administration’s green energy initiative in 2009, when the Solyndra loan was finalized.

E-mail communications from the White House obtained by the House Energy and Commerce Committee point to more involvement in the deal than perhaps Emanuel would care to remember.

The vice president was scheduled to announce the closure of the Solyndra deal on Sept. 4, and several e-mails show pressure from the White House to approve the loan.

In one e-mail, an assistant to Emanuel wrote on Aug. 31, 2009 to the Office of Management and Budget about the administration’s upcoming announcement on Solyndra and asked whether “there is anything we can help speed along on OMB side.”

I think Rahm better be focussed on remembering who his lawyer is and give them a call. Frankly I’d be worried if i was a native of Chicago who had a Mayor who can’t remember a $535M loan he helped stitch together with his boss Obama.

  141. Bill Clinton: PA statehood bid is ‘act of frustration’

Former US president Bill Clinton called the Palestinian Authority’s attempt to secure statehood at the United Nations an “act of frustration,” in an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday.

He did, however, say that he believes “the Palestinians understand that they have to negotiate borders and security with the Israelis.”

Clinton said he expects the US to veto the move when it comes before the Security Council, and that the next step will be to make sure the situation does not spiral out of control.

“We’re either going to go forward or fall back,” the former president said, continuing, “I favor going forward.”

Also on Sunday, Israel’s Ambassador to the US Michael Oren said that he hopes the Palestinian Authority will return to the negotiating table so that a two-state solution can be created.

During an interview with Channel 2 News about the PA’s UN statehood bid this week, Oren said that he could not confirm rumors that a deal was being made that would delay the vote at the UN to give both sides a few more months to reach an agreement.

Oren also said that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was willing to meet Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in a bid to restart peace talks.

Although I have read the other’s comments with regards to your comment, I still agree with you. Yes, the Clitons are not in an enviable position, but sometimes a tight lip is better than saying something. Every word of support for Øbama will be seen by many as an endorsement of him and his policies. It’s unfortunate, but that will happen.
