Half-A-Cane Irene Is Gone, Back To The Obama Clown Follies

Time for everyone to get out of their wet clothes and into a dry martini. Big Media living rooms in the places that matter are happy people filled due to the great ratings of the past week. Those of you with basements flooded or without power are bitter racists clinging to bibles and guns and denying Obama made the oceans recede. Racist rats!

As we gear up to return to our regularly scheduled programming post Half-a-cane Irene we were thrown off track again by a funny press conference performance by the carney clown in the White House press room.

Here, join us and have a hearty laugh:

“At today’s White House press briefing WorldNetDaily White House correspondent Lester Kinsolving asked Jay Carney if President Obama is “certain” that Hillary Clinton won’t primary him. This comes after Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said Obama has moved to the right because he has no primary opponent.

Carney said the White House is pretty certain Clinton won’t challenge Obama, however he tells Kinsolving “you’ll have to ask her.”

Every time this question is asked it takes a bite out of Obama’s heart. Transcript of the exchange:

“Q Just one. Just one. Just one. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders said — and this is a quote — “One of the reasons the President has moved so far to the right is there is no primary opposition to him.” And my question: Why is the President certain that Hillary won’t run against him? (Laughter.)

MR. CARNEY: You win the award for originality today.

Q Thank you very much.

MR. CARNEY: The President is focused not on any election — he’s focused right now on doing his job to grow the economy, create jobs, ensure that Americans who are in the path of this hurricane are taken care of. That’s what he’s focused on.

Q I understand. You’re running away from this question. I mean, can you guarantee that — are you sure that –

MR. CARNEY: You’d have to ask –

Q — Hillary is not going to run?

MR. CARNEY: You’d have to ask her. We’re fairly confident –

Q That she won’t?

MR. CARNEY: — that we need to focus on the task at hand.

We don’t know what Carney Clown thinks the “task at hand” is. Perhaps its that Social Security, driver’s license business with dear ol’ drunk and deadly Uncle Obama.

Might as well deal with drunk and deadly Obama because that reelection task at hand is not going so well:

If the election were next Tuesday he’d lose. That’s how bad it is,” said a Democratic strategist.

Obama and his Republican opponents in Congress left Washington in early August bruised and bloodied after the protracted debt-ceiling fight. As both congressional leaders and the White House were exhaling — pleased that a potential national default was dodged — Standard and Poor’s downgraded the nation’s credit rating. That sent markets tumbling across the globe, sparking more partisan finger-pointing. [snip]

And the president’s vacation turned out to be a political liability as he attracted criticism for relaxing in ritzy Martha’s Vineyard amid the economic downturn.

In-between meals and golf outings, Obama was briefed on an earthquake that hit the East Coast, Hurricane Irene and the ongoing strife in Libya as rebels appeared to be close to toppling dictator Moammar Gadhafi.[snip]

Settled back in Washington, with a head start over Congress, Obama will start the fall battles with his long-awaited jobs speech, which has already garnered unrealistic expectations and skepticism from both the left and the right.

While Obama promised shortly before his vacation that his speech will include a specific plan to create jobs, analysts and lawmakers are doubtful that the president will roll out much more than the infrastructure, payroll tax and trade plans that he has been pushing Congress on for months.”

With all that Hillary primary talk and the sure to be economic boobery next week Obama should call Uncle Obama and, after emptying several liquor bottles, discuss how stupid Massachusetts cops are. Or they could both laugh at how easy it is to fool people into giving them things – like Social Security numbers or the White House.

But what is given can be taken away. And as the Obama Dimocrats up for election in 2012 contemplate the future with Obama they might just decide that it is time to take away what was never theirs to give. That’s why the Hillary 2012 questions will not go away and why Obama will find no rest no matter how many vacations and golfing weeks he takes.

  1. So, I guess they are as confident that Hillary will not primary him. Just like they are confident that they will be re-elected. Interesting, as we have a long way to go, and no indication the economy and jobs will turn around, the number one thing people are interested in. I guess he is going to win them over with how he can change that, based on his now very visible track record. It will not be the first time that conservative Dems and Independence have voted Republican. After all Bush is part of the reason we are in this situation, and it has been long enough so that people have forgotten. They are also very scared about the debt, and the Reps are promising them a rose garden.

  3. It’s always a super day when someone asks the Oboob administration, in public, on tv, if Hillary is going to primary him. We all know that is why UbamaObooberama is turning gray like a stale piece of bread and He is throwing rocks at Her window in frustration.

We all knew that once the media started to sense they were covering the butt of a loser, it would be our time to sit back and watch all of them run around with their hair on fire.

It’s just too darn bad that a really great candidate on the R side, hasn’t stepped up to the plate.

Then again, that would make it even easier for Hillary to make a clean sweep.

    Run Hillary, please run!

  7. Drunk and deadly Obama went to the “Chicken Bone Saloon”. That’s racist. We missed that but others did not.

    http://pumapac.org/2011/08/29/bwwaaaahahahaaaa/

We blame the dry martinis for us not shouting “RACIST” the moment “Chicken Bone” popped up.

BTW, the second best martini humor is from Dorothy Parker who wrote: “I like to have a martini, Two at the very most. After three I’m under the table, after four I’m under my host.

  8. Do you remember doing the campaign how hard it was to reverse those downward trends for the candidates. H was more successful that any of them. Even when he had the fix in to win. Do you remember the NV primary, where the unions were threatening the casino workers, and making it hard for them to vote for anyone but O, and Hillary won anyway. O left town without even thanking his workers. Hillary worked very hard during the Primary, and O had everyone covering for him, frauding for him, and he still could not win. They fix the MI and FL,Delegates, and then voted from their rooms. He never worked hard at anything, people frauded for him, of which the media is Prime.

So the superdelegates, who were promised the world in support and money, now have a liability with no money. I guess it could not happen to a nicer group. But tell me, you really think O is going to work hard at his re-election. He can’t keep anything in his brain for more than five minutes (early Dimentia), and even if the liberal media continues down the fake hope and change road, no one will read or follow. Why, well of course we now have a track record. Even those who ae stupid enough to try to suggest he has performed so outstandingly are being put through the ringers in their comment sections. What every happened to Ya verily it shall be so because O proclaimed it. Even Jesus had to be a leader, and perform some miracles for people to believe in him.

When you have a tough job, too much work, not enough time you have to have a plan for handling things.
I could give him a plan, but I should not have to help the guy. It is obvious he had it way too easy, and he was placed in a position way over his heard. So what is the solution, get him another term?

Battleplan: Battle plan for O’s re-election, go on the negative offensive, and run the opposition into the ground.

I got news for them, if the Reps put Gov Martinez on the ticket, she is an expert on negative offensive, and she does not like to lose. She will run him into the ground. We saw it here in NM. She will have the hispanic backing, and she will come out fighting like a couger. However, I am sure they will not show that card until after the primary (VP slot). They want O to run for re-election.

  9. NewMexicoFan, we’ve written before that if Rubio somehow does not run for VP the obvious replacement would be Martinez. She is a woman southwestern governor who is a Latina and can therefore appeal to Latinos as much as Rubio. She would be a powerful dark horse VP nominee and would be as mesmerizing a pick as Palin was in 2008.

Please keep us informed as to Governor Martinez’ whereabouts, activities, record and history. She could be the surprise of 2012.

  10. Admin, Bill Clinton is coming to Route 66 Casino. We plan attend to go see him. He is taking questions. Anything we should ask to support the cause?

So far Gov Matinez has accomplishe four things even though she does not have a majority in the legislative body.

    1. She sold the corporate jet she crucified Dianne Denish, and Richardson with (he bought if for his Presidental bid, but Diane had used it a little also). She convinced people that it was a fraudulant waste of money (was questionable where the money came from). Her staff was caught using it a little, but it was already being advertised for sale and sold last week. It was interestig because the people running it said it was no more expensive than a prop plane, but she knew it was a big campaign issue.

    2. Her parents were from across the border, but she supposedly was born in El Paso. She tried to go after the drivers license for the illegals in the last legislative session, but got no where. She ordered an analysis of the people with licenses, asking people to prove they were still at that address in the state. A number of frauduant SSN, and bad addresses have shown up. In fact a ring of people I think from China, were shown running people through NM to get legal DLs. Two days ago she was slapped with a lawsuit over it from the usual people. This was also a campaign issue. This showed she had unsual strength in working her issue.

    3. Right after taking office she went into at least 2 areas and fired all the people. Those are court actions now, but again taking action to show her strength, and fighting it out in the courts later.

    4. She showed a strong presents at the national watched fire in our state, making sure all actions and equipment needed were obtained quickly to fight the fire.

She won over the Inependence and a share of Dems to get elected.

Also, they are fighting hard to win the vacant Senate Seat. One of the front runners for the Reps is Former House of Reps, Heather Wilson (I think retired AF LtC or Col), and she is getting support from the top guns in Washington. So we are seeing a lot of Rep dignataries come to support her here, and I know that the Gov is at these events. There are probably discussions going on as we speak. Martin Heinrich is the one to beat (he won her seat in the House of Rep). He is running hard, but Heather is known to be a tough campaigner.

I will be watching them both, and I think you and I have been of a like mind on Susan’s potential for a while now. She came out of the legal area in Las Cruces, and Diane found very little to fight her with. In addition, she caught the hispanic wave in the State, and many wanted a Hispanic women to be the first women in that position. Susan was negative campagining from the start, first against her parties other candidate, and then Diane. It worked well for her both times, even though for others it does not work. I would think it will work well for her national, especially if he comes out swinging. I also think that tactic for him will appear desperate, and not Presidental.

Holy Mary, christ on a bike, made me wince just reading it. The xray is unbelievable.

Hospital officials say an 86-year-old Arizona man is lucky to be alive after he accidentally impaled himself in the head with a set of pruning shears.

Leroy Luetscher was working in his garden on July 30 when he dropped a pair of pruning shears, which landed point-side down in the ground.

When Mr Luetscher went to pick them up, he lost his balance and fell face-down on the handle.
    Advertisement: Story continues below

The handle then penetrated his eye socket and went down into his neck, resting on the external carotid artery.

Mr Luetscher was rushed to Arizona’s University Medical Centre hospital, where surgeons removed the shears and rebuilt his orbital floor with metal mesh, saving his eye.

“You wouldn’t believe your eyes,” Dr Julie Wynne, assistant professor in the University of Arizona Department of Surgery, said of Mr Luetscher’s injuries.

“Half of the pruning shears was sticking out and the other half was in his head.”

Doctors say Mr Luetscher still has slight swelling in his eyelids and minor double vision but has otherwise recovered.

“I am so grateful to the doctors and staff at UMC,” he said after emerging from surgery.

Onyango Obama, Uncle Of President, Arrested For Drunk Driving

Onyango Obama, President Obama’s uncle, was arrested on August 24 in Massachusetts for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, CBS News reports.

According to CNN, Onyango Obama was arrested in Framingham, a Boston suburb, after not stopping his SUV at an intersection.

The Metro West Daily News reports that he had a blood alcohol level of .14 when tested with a Breathalyzer at the police station. The legal limit in Massachusetts is .08, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

“Police said that when asked if he wanted to make a phone call, Obama said: “I think I will call the White House.”

“A spokesman for Cleveland immigration attorney Margaret Wong, who is representing him, confirmed that the 67-year-old is the president’s uncle.”

Police say the president’s uncle is originally from Kenya and is being held without bail on a detainer from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Wong was one of the attorneys who represented Zeituni Onyango, President Obama’s aunt, who last year was granted political asylum after spending ten years as an undocumented immigrant in Boston.

The White House did not respond to a request for comment from The Boston Herald, the paper reports.

As the radio was the only source of news for two days. The radio happened to be tuned to Jeff Kuntz subbing for Dan Savage on his show. Kuntz offered plenty of info regarding the disposition of the illegal immigrant status of Obama’s Aunt and the Uncle. Obama’s Aunt has been granted asylum in the US from Kenya after living here for decades as an illegal immigrant ordered deported by the court years ago.

Kuntz also said, the same attorney that handled the Aunt’s case will be handling Uncle Obama’s case after the police granted him the one phone call, screaming… “I want to call the White House.” Safe to assume it’s a done deal. Blech! (I have no idea how to spell Jeff’s last name)

Hopefully you weathered the tropical storm alright-

Did you lose power? Everyone I’ve spoken to hadn’t lost power. Some only experienced a flickering or a dimming of lights. I meant to ask you if you knew an artist by the name of William Blankenly in Oak Bluffs. I purchased one of his watercolors some years ago when he captured the authentic Carousel horses and the children going for their last ride before the historical society’s Carousel’s restoration project took place. His watercolors paintings are lovely.

  16. The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 21% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-three percent (43%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -22 (see trends).

Strong Disapproval of the president has been at or above 40% for more than three full weeks, 24 consecutive days. That’s the first time it’s been that high for that long since last November.

Republicans have opened a nine-point advantage on the Generic Congressional Ballot.

Rick Perry, who leads the race for the Republican nomination, caused a stir last week when he said his goal was to make Washington, DC as inconsequential as possible. Thirty-eight percent (38%) agree with that sentiment and 34% disagree.

Forty-eight percent (48%) say the interstate highways they drive on are in good or excellent shape. Just 9% rate them as poor.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates are also available on Twitter and Facebook.

Overall, 43% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president’s performance. Fifty-six percent (56%) at least somewhat disapprove.

  17. concerning the congressional poll…..this is interesting.

Republicans hold a 17-point lead among male voters and run basically even with Democrats among female voters. Voters under 30 remain more supportive of Democrats, while older voters tend to favor the GOP.

Eighty percent (80%) of black voters support the Democrats. White voters prefer Republicans over the president’s party by a 50% to 31% margin. Voters of other races favor the Republican 41% to 33%.

Voters not affiliated with either of the major parties prefer the Republicans by 16 points 39% to 23%, but 38% of these voters like a third-party candidate or remain undecided.

  18. How?

President Obama’s uncle had Social Security ID

President Obama’s accused drunken-driving uncle — who was busted after a near collision with a Framingham cop — has had a valid Social Security number for at least 19 years, despite being an illegal immigrant ordered to be deported back to Kenya, the Herald has learned.

The president’s 67-year-old uncle, Obama Onyango, has had a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and Social Security number since at least 1992, said Registry of Motor Vehicles spokesman Michael Verseckes.

Onyango, whose sister, Zeituni Onyango, made headlines when it was revealed she was an illegal immigrant living in public housing in South Boston, was wobbly legged, “slurring” and had “red and glassy eyes” when he was pulled over at 7 p.m. Wednesday on Waverly Street in Framingham

  21. more from moon’s link:

“Onyango was ordered held without bail on a federal immigration warrant after his arraignment Thursday in Framingham District Court. Court papers show he was the subject of a previous deportation order. He was being held in the Plymouth House of Correction last night.

Mike Rogers, a spokesman for Cleveland immigration attorney Margaret Wong, who is representing Onyango, said he “wouldn’t know how” Onyango obtained a Social Security number. Wong is the same lawyer who represented the president’s aunt, Zeituni Onyango, in her fight to win asylum last year. Reached at her apartment in a South Boston public housing complex yesterday, Zeituni Onyango said of her brother’s arrest: “Why don’t you go to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, D.C., and ask your president? Not me.” She then hung up on a reporter.

The bust came just days after another illegal immigrant was charged with running down and killing a 23-year-old man in Milford.

Asked about the issue yesterday, Gov. Deval Patrick said: “You know my stance: Illegal is illegal. We need comprehensive immigration reform.”

The comments from MA residents are unanimous outrage:

Most American Muslims are satisfied Obama backers

(Reuters) – A majority of U.S. Muslims are content with the nation’s direction in contrast to many Americans and few Muslims believe there is support for Islamic extremism here, a survey released on Tuesday found.

With the 10th anniversary of the al Qaeda attacks on New York and the Pentagon approaching, the Pew Research Center found that most Muslims felt ordinary Americans were friendly or neutral toward them.

In contrast to the majority of the general public dissatisfied with the nation’s direction, 56 percent of the estimated 2.75 million American Muslims said they are satisfied, the survey showed. Seven out of 10 view President Barack Obama’s tenure favourably.

“On a variety of measures, Muslims in America are very content with their own lives and with the communities where they live,” Pew researcher Greg Smith said in an interview.

Four out of five Muslim Americans surveyed were satisfied with the way things are going in their lives and rated their communities very positively as places to live.

“We’ve seen Muslims move in a different direction than the rest of the country (with more) believing America is going in the right direction,” Smith said.

Only 6 percent of Muslims in the survey of slightly more than 1,000 surveyed by telephone between April and July said they there is a great deal of support for Islamic extremism in Muslim-American communities. Another 15 percent said there is a fair amount of support among U.S. Muslims of extremism.

Among the general public, four in 10 believe extremism is supported in the Muslim American community, researchers said.

Pew last surveyed American Muslims in 2007, and researchers compared their attitudes in light of various disputes over mosque building, attacks on Muslims and mosques, a heating up of the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan and hearings in the U.S. Congress about the threat of home-grown Muslim terrorism.

Since 2007, there has been little change in how Muslim Americans see how they are viewed by the rest of America, with 28 percent saying other Americans viewed them suspiciously and 22 percent saying they had been called offensive names. Only 6 percent said they had been threatened or attacked, while 38 percent were bothered by their sense that they were singled out for increased government surveillance.

In response to questions about being a Muslim in the United States since the Sept. 11 attacks, 55 percent said it is more difficult while 37 percent saw no change.

Two-thirds of those survey said the quality of life for Muslims in the United States is better than in most Muslim countries.

In 2007 only one-quarter of Muslim Americans believed the U.S.-led war on terrorism was sincere, while 43 percent surveyed this year believed the effort was sincere.

The survey found nearly seven in 10 Muslim Americans said the Muslim community is cooperating to the extent it should with U.S. law enforcement — an issue raised in congressional hearings. However, only one-third said U.S. Muslim leaders had spoken out sufficiently against extremism.

Muslim American attitudes toward terror attacks and al Qaeda had not changed much in four years, with 81 percent saying suicide bombings and other violence against civilians to defend Islam were never justified, with 1 percent saying it was often justified.

Only 5 percent had a somewhat or very favourable view of al Qaeda, with a growing majority of 70 percent holding very unfavourable views of the group.

The general level of satisfaction among American Muslims was reflected in the 76 percent who approved of Obama’s performance as president — nine out of 10 said they voted for the Democrat in 2008. Muslim support for Obama contrasts with unfavourable views of his Republican predecessor, George Bush.

There are an estimated 1.8 million Muslim adults in the United States, including U.S.-born converts, a 300,000 increase since 2007. Two-thirds were born in other countries.

The survey had an error margin of 5 percentage points.

  23. Mrs. Smith,
Yes according to the Tyler news….her movie opened to a sold out crowd…they also interviewed several movie goers and they said they were sick of MSNBC/CNN coverage of Sarah….these were 60 y.o. seniors….so to me looks like folks are catching on to the media bias….

Anyway Sarah ran Alaska as a centrist…I’ve actually spoken to folks you lived there when she was governor….sounds to me like she’s really a democrat in Rethug clothes just as Obama is a Rethug in Dem clothes..

  24. BASIL99

Yes, you and confloyd have the feeling something is going on behind the scenes while the hype of the storm was a deliberate distraction from some deep nefarious plan concocted by Obama.

I did read something about the Insurance losses will be average for the amount of destruction but the catch phrase in the article was an excuse for Insurance companies to raise rates on consumers not the usual expected 1% or 2% but by a whopping 10% to 20% depending on the homeowner’s location.

Additionally, the article mentioned the storm will be sold by the Obama admin as helping to boost the economy creating jobs..

This is not really the by-product of the storm that stirred my insides. If you find something that doesn’t quite sit right with you… please post it here.. meanwhile I will be doing likewise..

  25. Red alert NewMexicoFan (and its by Bill Kristol):

    http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/perry-martinez_591498.html

As Michael Warren pointed out earlier today, Rick Perry now seems to be the Republican frontrunner. Who might his running mate be? Obvious possibilities are Ryan or Rubio—or Mitch Daniels (a successful Midwestern governor who’s not part of the mess in D.C. but who could reassure some voters with his serious federal government experience). But this news story suggests someone else Perry would surely want to consider: New Mexico governor Susana Martinez.

  26. Would it be a problem having the 2 on the ticket from neighbouring states.

I mean having the 2 Gov’s from Texas and NM on the same ticket. Usually they try and pick someone from the opposite end.

Think of it this way. I think Perry gets the nomination with ease.

Martinez, a Gov could bring latinos and NM and womens vote, all of importance.
Rubio, a senator could bring Florida, latino’s and younger vote.
Ryan, an 12 year congressman, financially intelligent, chairman of house budget committee, very telegenic brings northern vote, good experience, wisconsin and others like Minnesota possibly into the column.
Christie, another gov, could carry NJ and cause severe trouble for Obama in NE.

personally i think the VP slot is between those 4. Can’t see bachmann or romney or pawlenty or huntsman or any of the also rans into it.

Whatever happens, if its Perry and one of those 4, that is going to be one hell of a stronger ticket than 2008 was for the republicans.

I mean whatever way you look at it, Perry running as a 12 year Gov vs Obama is going to be a problem for Obama. Whatever you think of him, the guy wipes the floor with Obama on executive experience and any of those 4 against Biden, makes Biden look…well, dated and past it.

2012 is not going to be easy for Obama’s crew

  27. Concerning Øbama’s illegal immigrant uncle, someone wrote a cute comment on the Yahoo! news story’s comment section that went something like this… maybe he was going to a beer summit? LOL.

  28. Sources say ATF Acting Director Kenneth Melson is being moved out of the top job at the Bureau. It’s not yet publicly known where he would go, but sources inside the Justice Department believe one option is a transfer to a position at Department of Justice headquarters. The Justice Department had no immediate comment, and did not confirm the move.

Melson’s move would be another in a number of high-level personnel shifts, as the Inspector General continues investigating the so-called gunwalker scandal at the Justice Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

  30. Went to the Psyhic twins web site, and their prediction for 2012 was they see nothing to worry about with Obama. He and his wife are a power couple, and they like them a lot. They think 2012 is going to be very hard for him.

I guess it is not what they said, but what they did not say, that he absolutely would win re-election.

    it was really soft. Interesting.

Admin, Bill Clinton is coming to Route 66 Casino. We plan attend to go see him. He is taking questions. Anything we should ask to support the cause?

    ——-
Maybe Admin would like you to ask the Big Dawg to talk to his lady love about running for President again? Her army is waiting, and ready. 😉

  32. President Obama has been touring all over the midwest these past few weeks, giving speeches to crowds of fans, anxious to hear what’s next on his agenda. One could be forgiven for believing that these are less about pushing the president’s current agenda, and more about launching the reelection campaign, however this is a charge that the administration adamantly denies.

But there is a very simple reason that this is viewed as more of a campaign effort. Boasting bulletproof windows, five inch thick doors, and it’s own oxygen supply, the President has made the rounds for these speeches in a multi-million dollar bus, dubbed “The Beast” by it’s critics. There’s been no shortage of opinions from people and pundits on this bus and how having the President tour around the midwest in a caravan of cars and seated on a tour bus sends the message that he is on the campaign trail and using taxpayer dollars to do it.

It appears however, that this might not be the case. According to some sources he hasn’t really been riding these buses much at all. They say, he’s been flying them.

Apparently President Obama only rode the buses for a couple of miles at a time, spending the rest of the time flying from community to community in Air Force One. What’s more, the buses were flown from stop to stop as well. It’s normal practice for the President’s entire motorcade to be loaded up on cargo planes and flown from destination to destination. The buses were just a new part of that motorcade.

But why wouldn’t the presidential limousine have sufficed? Or one of the other armored vehicles that routinely travel with the President? Apparently because the President wanted the imagery of a bus. And buses are what he got.

So good news America! If these reports are true, then not only do you get the pleasure of having a $1.1 million dollar bus carting the President around to “enlist” voters to fight for his reelection, but you get to marvel at the hypocrisy of an administration hell bent on destroying industries with carbon footprints too large for comfort, while they themselves are flying entire caravans of SUVs and buses in giant 747s flanked by fighter jets.

All so the president can travel a couple of miles per stop with the image that he’s on the ground with the people when in reality, he couldn’t be more detached from them, their problems, or this continually declining economy. You couldn’t ask for a better metaphor.

  33. BO talking points have taken root

My elderly neighbor and his wife lost telephone service coz of Irene and I spent several hours yesterday on my cable phone trying to get through to AT&T to get an updated status of their situation.

Anyway, later that evening, I brought over one of my extra cordless phones for them to use and we started talking politics coz the news was on.

I was criticizing BO’s National Hurricane Authority appearance and my neighbor’s wife said she was tired of BO being attacked.

I looked at her in astonishment (her husband is a staunch BO-opponent) and said look at what had been done to Bush.

She then said Perry is an idiot and she hoped he didn’t get the repub nomination.

I said (politely) that it was clear she was parroting the new BM TP about Perry and brought up 57-state BO’s many mangled answers over the years.

She then said the problem was that people hadn’t given BO a chance.

I pointed out BO had had total dim control for over 2 years and had gotten plenty of his agenda passed.

Luckily, there was a knock on the door and another neighbor showing off her new grandson stopped by so the 1st neighbor and I can remain on friendly terms.

But I could not believe how thoroughly she has digested all BO TP’s hook, line and sinker.

Her poor husband just looked at me apologetically and didn’t open his mouth.

  34. moonopluto,

I know you will get a kick out o this.

Apparently, BO wasn’t even ON the bus most of the time. AF1 shuttled him between stops. (according to Limbaugh. I will try to find the link).

  35. Hillary is not going to run again- this much we know. Not with all the loose canons in the Chicago Mafia gunning for her. Too dangerous. The best we can hope for is she accepts a nomination via a Draft movement which is much easier on all of us not having to go through the 08′ spectacle again.

Actually, I don’t mind getting the requisite signatures from my state for qualifying her for a draft presenting it at the nominating convention. Smarter, less work and they can bring it, if they dare… heh!

  36. I am surprised the Muslim support in that poll is not higher like around 90% like the AA’s . The sad thing is I think Jewish support is still around 65-70%.

  39. Kenneth Melson Resigns As ATF Chief Over ‘Fast And Furious’ Gun Trafficking Operation

Kenneth Melson is out as head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Department of Justice announced Tuesday.

Melson has been under fire from Republicans over the scandal surrounding the gun trafficking program Operation Fast and Furious. The Justice Department announced that Melson will be moving to the Office of Legal Policy.

Melson has been under pressure to step aside since earlier this summer, after a House Oversight Committee hearing revealed controversial aspects of the program. ATF agents charged with monitoring the illegal sale and transfer of guns from the U.S. To Mexican drug cartels told lawmakers that, instead of arresting small-time buyers, they were ordered to stand by and let the guns go through, in the hopes of tracing them to larger arms dealers.

After border patrol agent Brian Terry was murdered in a shootout along the Arizona-Mexico border in December 2010, two weapons found on the scene were linked that the Fast and Furious program.

This month, the Justice Department announced that guns from the program had turned up at the scenes of at least 11 crimes in the U.S. In El Paso, Texas, 42 weapons were seized from two crime scenes alone.

Melson “was part of the bad judgment. … This was a program so stupid from the start,” Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the head of the Oversight Committee, told Fox News in June.

In July, after a review of the program, Melson admitted that, in at least one instance, agents could and should have intercepted the weapons. “I read through those and found ROIs

(reports of investigation) that indeed suggested that interdiction could have occurred, and probably should have occurred, but did not occur,” Melson told congressional lawmakers.

The Ulsterman Report: Michelle Obama’s Illegal Gibson Smuggle-Blunder?

“The Obama Department of Justice raided the Gibson guitar plant for the second time in as many years for alleged illegal use of wood from “endangered” trees in the making of their guitars. So when will they be coming to arrest the First Lady.”

Last week saw DOJ officials once again entering the Gibson guitar manufacturing plant in Tennessee where they proceeded to confiscate pallets of wood, guitars, and other assorted guitar-making materials. The raid was apparently in response to Gibson’s alleged use of “endangered” trees for its guitars. Use of such wood would be a violation of the Lacy Act, which states it is “illegal to import, export, transport, sell, receive, acquire, or purchase in interstate or foreign commerce any plant, with some limited exceptions, taken or traded in violation of the laws of the U.S., a U.S. State, or relevant foreign law.”

An example of such a tree would be Indian rosewood, which is apparently outlawed as an export or import for manufacturing purposes by the Obama administration. Where the situation gets particularly interesting is that in 2009 First Lady Michelle Obama personally exported a Gibson guitar as a gift to the First Lady of France, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. That guitar’s fretboard was made from…wait for it…a piece of Indian rosewood.

So if the Obama Department of Justice is storming the gates of the Gibson plant in Tennessee, how long before it turns its attention onto the illegal guitar-contraband carrying First Lady?

  41. The Ulsterman Report: Rats From a Sinking Ship..

    Ulsterman on August 29, 2011

“With the exception of Timothy Geithner – who appears very much to want to leave, every single significant member of Barack Obama’s economic team has left the administration. Every. Single. One.”

The mainstream media knows about the mass exodus from within the Obama administration, but little reporting has been done on it. To do so would more clearly portray the Barack Obama presidency for what it truly is – a chaotic and highly dysfunctional mish-mash of liberal-progressive scrap-heap politics long ago abandoned back during the Jimmy Carter era. And as the United States continues to find itself mired in an alarmingly poor economy, with high unemployment and little to no economic growth, is it any wonder member after member of the once-proudly assembled Barack Obama economic team has abandoned an administration that appears adrift and drowning in recession waters for which it has not a clue how to navigate?

Here’s a running tally of some of the more notable departures and an indication of just how dire the situation is over at Obama Inc:

Chair of the Council of Economic Advisors: Position has remained vacant for months, with no indication it will be filled any time soon. Apparently nobody wants the job. more at link:

  42. Past praise, current spin and around we go…

    Perry’s Hillarycare praise

The Daily Caller unearths a letter that is dated but will likely see more airing in the GOP primary – and possibly general election – in which Rick Perry, as Texas Ag Commissioner, directly praised then-First Lady Hillary Clinton for her health care reform efforts:

“I think your efforts in trying to reform the nation’s health care system are most commendable.”

“I would like to request that the task force give particular consideration to the needs of the nation’s farmers, ranchers, and agriculture workers, and other members of rural communities,” Perry continued, noting his administration’s focus on economic development for rural Texans. “Rural populations have a high proportion of uninsured people, rising health care costs, and often experience lack of services.”

“Again, your efforts are worthy,” Perry concluded, ”and I hope you will remember this constituency as the task force progresses.”

The plan Clinton’s task force ultimately presented called for universal health care along with a federal mandate for employers to provide health insurance for their employees.

    And the defense:

Asked by TheDC about the 1993 letter, Perry’s presidential campaign defended it, saying the full scope of Clinton’s healthcare plan was not yet known when Perry signed it.

“You need to read the letter,” top Perry political strategist Dave Carney told The Daily Caller. “He praised her efforts in trying to tackle the issue and urged her not to overlook rural Americans. The letter was at the onset of her efforts before she proposed anything. No one could have imagined the horrible monstrosity she cooked up, in fact not to be outdone until ObamaCare years later.”

“As Agriculture Commissioner he was concerned that rural Americans would be overlooked and their options even more limited,” Carney continued. “Working with the administration regardless of party, working with members of the other party, as long as you don’t violate your principles, is important to getting things done.”

  43. Wow. Ulsterman’s on a roll.

I liked this article. Confirms what admin and many others have been saying on this blog.

As initial reports of Hurricane Irene came in, President was hesitant to cut short his vacation. Numerous briefings held on subject, but each time Obama insisted he remain at M. Vineyard. His tone began to change the following day when situation presented to him as a potential to contrast himself from G. Bush and Katrina and could prove a valuable tool for the re-election campaign. A future campaign ad was outlined utilizing the Irene situation. This scenario said to “perk” president’s interest in becoming more involved and focused.

Photo-op scenario was then developed. Barack Obama again hesitated, but by end of day, was “back on board” for the plan, though was to have said “Libya should be enough”. An apparent reference to Gaddafi’s removal from power as being a success for the Obama administration. Also received a number of references to how “tired” the president appeared even though he has been vacationing for some time now.

Even as reports came in that Irene was likely to prove far less damaging than the initial outlook, the Obama team proceeded with photo-op plan. The Plouffe gang believed the photo and the message it would send to be “critical” for the image of the president. During the most extensive of the situation updates, Obama left early. His mood was described as “agitated” and “dismissive” of the situation, and his understanding of emergency response “non-existent”. He repeatedly commented with “We get the picture and we are good, right? You guys can take it from there, right? Yeah, let’s do it then. Let’s go.”

When the suggestion of a brief teleconference was proposed, the president again balked, but later complied with the suggestion. Uncertain how he was later convinced. Likely given a script to read from and that lessened his concerns about attempting to pretend knowledge of a subject he knew nothing about.

What I do know is that the president was placed in the Hurricane “situation center” and the photographers were ushered in and and instructed what to shoot. The president left soon after the photographers left. Told one news agency actually reported on the story even before Obama had left. If true this would be proof the campaign team sent out the “script” to the news agencies hours before the president even arrived at the situation center. I know for a fact that this kind of thing has been done before by the Obama campaign.

(”We get the picture and we are good, right? You guys can take it from there, right?)

Lastly, someone high up in the Obama team earlier in the week openly expressed a hope that Irene would be “A real big one.” Meaning they are desperate for an opportunity for the president to appear “presidential”. Apparently media outlets have already been contacted to assist in this effort of portraying Barack Obama as the “anti-Bush” regarding the current hurricane response. Look for the photo-op and written portrayals of the president’s abilities during the hurricane crisis to be transmitted by media over the course of the next few days, even though Irene is already proving to be no more than a tropical storm at this time.

One last interesting tidbit was a description as Hurricane Irene being “Napolitano’s last dance.” Is she on her way out? This is the first I have heard of that possibility but am now asking around. Will keep you updated.

  46. Mrs. Smith,

If you scroll to the end of the article you will see an even more striking pic of BO emerging from AF1.

    He looks ill.

BTW, the end of the neighbor story – as I was leaving, I joked with the other woman who had stopped by to visit with her grandson that I didn’t want to get into a political fight. She asked what the disagreement was about and the neighbor said I don’t like BO. The new arrival high-fived me. The only one of 4 adults in the room who liked BO or at least was trying to defend him was the neighbor and I believe it is because her daughter is married to an African and they have 2 kids, expecting a third. Her daughter is a teacher. Enough said. Her husband can’t stand BO as he tells me privately when helping me with lawn care.

His wife, an otherwise lovely woman, spouts the latest BM talking points on the rare occasions the subject is broached and doesn’t really have her heart in it. She confessed that when she first heard I disliked BO she thought it was because of racism but has since concluded that my objections are ideological, not personal, and similar to her husband’s, the grandfather of 3 bi-racial kids.

Obama: could add 1 million new U.S. jobs

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/08/30/us-obama-jobs-interview-idUSTRE77T6AV20110830

President Barack Obama said on Tuesday there were a range of policy options available that could create up to a million new U.S. jobs, in remarks ahead of a major economic speech that he will deliver next week.

Obama must boost growth and bring down unemployment to be confident of winning another White House term in the November 2012 general election. Economists are skeptical he will get Congress to agree to significant new spending on jobs.

“We don’t have magic bullets, but what we do have, I think, is the capacity to do some things right now that would make a big difference,” Obama said in a interview with popular radio talkshow host Tom Joyner.

The White House says details of the job creation proposals Obama will unveil next week are still being worked out and it has yet to announce an exact date or location for his speech, although Obama hinted at some of the ideas he would put forth.

“There is no doubt that we can take steps that would mean the economy was growing a percent or a percentage and a half faster. That could mean half a million to a million additional jobs,” Obama said.

U.S. GDP output expanded at a tepid 1.3 percent annual rate in the second quarter of this year and unemployment remained at a painfully high 9.1 percent in July.

“This is a situation where the economy essentially had a heart attack and the patient lived, and the patient is getting better, but it’s getting better very slowly,” Obama told Joyner, who draws a large African-American audience, a key part of the president’s political base.

The White House blames the sluggish economic performance on fallout from the worst recession since the Great Depression that Democrat Obama inherited when he took office. His Republican opponents reject this as a lame excuse.

Asked what his speech could touch upon, Obama cited a number of measures that he has talked about in recent weeks, including infrastructure spending to upgrade the country’s roads, bridges and schools, as well as extending a payroll tax cut and jobless aid.

“All these ideas are ones that have been presented to Congress. We’ll be putting out several other additional ideas. We’ve got to do it, unfortunately, at a time when money is tight. George Bush left us (a) $1 trillion deficit,” he said, referring to the former Republican president.

Obama said in remarks earlier on Tuesday in Minneapolis that his speech next week would address both job creation and deficit reduction.

Asked how he planned to get his jobs strategy past Republicans who control the House of Representatives, Obama said he expected continued resistance from his opponents, but insisted that “they’re speaking only to a very narrow segment of the population, their base.”

“My attitude is that my job is to present the best plans possible. Congress needs to act,” Obama said. “If Congress does not act, then I’m going to be going on the road and talking to folks, and this next election very well may end up being a referendum on whose vision of America is better.”

    …………………………….

Its the blame game again, he blames Bush for a 1 trillion deficit….err what is it now Bozo? You took the mess on, Bush left over 2 and a half years ago, also, You got to aks yourself, if they can creat 1 million jobs now, why didn’t they do it before?

  49. This Is How Science Gets Settled

    —Ace

Good piece on CERN’s CLOUD experiment, which proved that the sun is primarily responsible for cloud formation. Cosmic rays cause the upper atmosphere to be seeded with cloud-forming molecules.

And the strength of cosmic rays fluctuates. And clouds influence temperature (by reflecting away sunlight that would otherwise warm the earth).

This has been in the news lately, and it’s been linked here. I’m linking this article to note… those who so love science tried to get the experiment killed, because they didn’t want AGW theory to even have a challenge.

But Mr. Kirkby made the same tactical error that the Danes [who had earlier proposed the theory, and had been punished] had — not realizing how politicized the global warming issue was, he candidly shared his views with the scientific community.
“The theory will probably be able to account for somewhere between a half and the whole of the increase in the Earth’s temperature that we have seen in the last century,” Mr. Kirkby told the scientific press in 1998, explaining that global warming may be part of a natural cycle in the Earth’s temperature.

The global warming establishment sprang into action, pressured the Western governments that control CERN, and almost immediately succeeded in suspending CLOUD. It took Mr. Kirkby almost a decade of negotiation with his superiors, and who knows how many compromises and unspoken commitments, to convince the CERN bureaucracy to allow the project to proceed. And years more to create the cloud chamber and convincingly validate the Danes’ groundbreaking theory.

Yet this spectacular success will be largely unrecognized by the general public for years — this column will be the first that most readers have heard of it — because CERN remains too afraid of offending its government masters to admit its success. Weeks ago, CERN [formally] decided to muzzle Mr. Kirby and other members of his team to avoid “the highly political arena of the climate change debate,” telling them “to present the results clearly but not interpret them” and to downplay the results by “mak[ing] clear that cosmic radiation is only one of many parameters.” The CERN study and press release is written in bureaucratese and the version of Mr. Kirkby’s study that appears in the print edition of Nature censored the most eye-popping graph — only those who know where to look in an online supplement will see the striking potency of cosmic rays in creating the conditions for seeding clouds.

“Science” — blocking experiments which could undermine a politically-popular, money-making theory.

  52. Israeli settlers to be given tear gas to defend homes in West Bank

As Palestinians push for UN recognition, military will also hand out stun grenades

    By Donald Macintyre in Jerusalem

    Wednesday, 31 August 2011

Palestinian farmers have repeatedly clashed with Israeli settlers in the long-running land dispute. Now Israel is preparing for possible clashes on the West Bank

Palestinian farmers have repeatedly clashed with Israeli settlers in the long-running land dispute. Now Israel is preparing for possible clashes on the West Bank

The Israeli military is to train Jewish settlers in the West Bank and plans to equip them with tear gas and stun grenades to confront Palestinian demonstrators when their leaders press for UN recognition next month.

The enlistment of settlers, which has already opened with a training session for their local security officers, is part of the military’s comprehensive “Operation Summer Seeds” for dealing with possible violence as the UN considers whether or not to recognize a Palestinian state.

According to a document leaked to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the defense establishment’s working assumption – challenged by the moderate Palestinian leadership in Ramallah – is that the UN move will trigger “mass disorder”. This includes, Israel contends, “marches toward main junctions, Israeli communities, and education centers; efforts at damaging symbols of [Israeli] government”.

The document also reportedly envisages the possibility of “more extreme cases like shooting from within the demonstrations or even terrorist incidents. In all the scenarios, there is readiness to deal with incidents near the fences and the borders of the State of Israel”.

Mahmoud Abbas, the President of the Palestinian National Authority, has insisted that demonstrations should be non-violent and while he has publicly backed the idea of “popular resistance” there have been unconfirmed suggestions that he and the Palestinian security forces will work to ensure their scale is limited.

The report in Haaretz says that the military is making it clear that demonstrations will be controlled and that it has sufficient forces to deal with every disturbance. It has, however, already decided in principle to equip settlement chief security officers with the means of dispersing demonstrations, although it acknowledges a shortage of equipment for firing such ammunition.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed yesterday it was “holding an ongoing professional dialogue with elements in the settlement leadership, with the routine security personnel, and is investing many resources in training forces, from a defensive standpoint and in readiness for possible scenarios”. The military added that its central command had completed training most “first response teams” – the voluntary squads of settlers routinely assigned to deal with any attacks on them before troops arrive.

Israel’s hard-line Foreign Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, was quoted earlier this month claiming the Palestinians were planning “unprecedented bloodshed” around the time of the UN vote. The claim is seen by Palestinian officials in Ramallah as an unjustified attempt to talk up the possibility of confrontation.

The military’s own preparations have been drawn up in parallel with a concerted diplomatic initiative at persuading UN member states not to back the recognition bid, which Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki says will be presented on 20 September.

But according to a leaked Israeli foreign ministry document, Ron Prosor, Israel’s ambassador to the UN, has already admitted it will be well nigh impossible to prevent the UN General Assembly from approving the Palestinian call. The Palestinians are currently expected to call for the same “non- member state” status within the UN as enjoyed by the Vatican.

At the same time efforts are being made by Ramallah to widen the international consensus in its favor, possibly by stressing that the borders of a state will only be agreed by negotiations.

The US, which strongly opposes the UN move, is pressing the EU and Russia, co-members of the international Middle East “Quartet” to come up with an early statement aimed to bring the two sides back to the negotiating table. Tony Blair, the Quartet’s Middle East envoy who is due in the region next week, has been entrusted with trying to find an acceptable formula to break a deadlock partly created by Israel’s insistence that the Palestinians recognize it as a “Jewish state”.

But even if the US-backed initiative succeeds, it is unlikely to deter the Palestinians from pressing ahead with the General Assembly vote on the grounds that talks with the present Israeli government are unlikely to lead to an agreement, a view privately shared by some Western diplomats.

  53. Good piece on CERN’s CLOUD experiment, which proved that the sun is primarily responsible for cloud formation.

THAT IS *NOT* WHAT THE CLOUD EXPERIMENT REPORTED. THE SUN/COSMIC RAY FACTOR IS *NOT* PRIMARILY RESPONSIBLE. IT MAY PROMOTE SOME CLOUD FORMATION AT HIGHER ALTITUDES. BUT A MORE IMPORTANT FACTOR TURNED OUT TO BE “ORGANIC PARTICLES” AT LOWER ALTITUDES.

    rsc.org/chemistryworld/News/2011/August/24081102.asp
Scientists thought that [cosmic ray] factors alone could explain cloud formation, but CLOUD has proved other vapours must be involved. Kirkby says the only other condensable atmospheric vapours are organic compounds. [….] The CLOUD team will now try to identify which organic species are responsible for aerosol nucleation.

    From CERN itself:

    press.web.cern.ch/press/PressReleases/Releases2011/PR15.11E.html
“It was a big surprise to find that aerosol formation in the lower atmosphere isn’t due to sulphuric acid, water and ammonia alone,” said Kirkby. “Now it’s vitally important to discover which additional vapours are involved, whether they are largely natural or of human origin, and how they influence clouds. ”

  54. I had a very interesting conversation with several accomplished individuals this evening regarding 2012. Several expressed a begrudged respect for Palin, but all said bambi’s Hindenburg as commander-in-chief has obliterated a top ticket non-traditional candidate. Obama is epic failure and they just don’t see a woman or non dull white man heading the ticket. If I followed their train of thought correctly the (s)election of the first non white man, which resulted in epic failure precludes a competent woman from running.
Response, even from the women, was yes. I asked why. One woman who voted for him said she thought she was doing something right by her children when she cast a vote for waffles. I asked if she voted fro him over McCain because he was part black and she said yes

NY Attorney General Kicked Off Mortgage Abuse Committee

Schneiderman’s removal follows his statements in recent months voicing concerns over a proposed deal between major banks and a coalition of federal and state officials over claims of foreclosure abuses.

The removal is the latest sign of discord between Schneiderman and the state and federal coalition on mortgage abuses. On Monday, the New York Times reported that the federal government was pressuring him to agree to a settlement with the banks over abuses such as submitting allegedly false documents to remove borrowers from their homes.

Schneiderman has said that he opposes any deal that gives participating banks a release from other litigation surrounding their mortgage activities.

  58. With what limited TV coverage of East Coast damage I’ve allowed myself to view, it appears to me that Obie can delete the infrastructure portion of his jobs speech. Irene has provided all the infrastructure employment that anyone could hope for. Of course the TV crawl says FEMA funds are limited…. The on-going circus continues.

  59. On another of my priority topics (bullying), here is support for a statement I made here some time ago about NJ leading in the fight against bullying.

Bullying Law Puts New Jersey Schools on Spot – NYTimes.com
…In Elizabeth, children, including kindergartners, will spend six class periods learning, among other things, the difference between telling and tattling. And at North Hunterdon High School, students will be told that there is no such thing as an innocent bystander when it comes to bullying: if they see it, they have a responsibility to try to stop it. But while many parents and educators welcome the efforts to curb bullying both on campus and online, some superintendents and school board members across New Jersey say the new law, which takes effect Sept. 1, reaches much too far, and complain that they have been given no additional resources to meet its mandates. The law, known as the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights, is considered the toughest legislation against bullying in the nation. Propelled by public outcry over the suicide of a Rutgers University freshman, Tyler Clementi, nearly a year ago, it demands that all public schools adopt comprehensive antibullying policies (there are 18 pages of “required components”), increase staff training and adhere to tight deadlines for reporting episodes….
    http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/31/nyregion/bullying-law-puts-new-jersey-schools-on-spot.html?_r=1

The thrust of my earlier comment was the fact that bullying is finally becoming unfashionable in some quarters and it is time to extend that opinion to the elected officials of our land, many of whom appeared to glory in their role as dictators where Irene was comcerned.

  60. New warning bells in Operation Fast and Furious probe | Examiner Editorial | Opinion | Washington Examiner
A bruised and battered veteran of the U.S. Civil Service explained how the government silences whistleblowers and other uncooperative employees: “They give you a big promotion, a fancy title and a new office, but no staff and nothing to do. Then they tell you to watch the flagpole in front of headquarters and, if that flag moves, you come tell us immediately. After that, you’re never heard from again.” Whistleblowers in the Washington bureaucracy come in all ideological stripes, but the one thing they almost invariably have in common is being subjected to this treatment. Some stick to their guns and alert the public to a problem in government, but most are bored into submission.

Kenneth Melson, the now former acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives at the center of the Operation Fast and Furious scandal, appears to be getting the treatment now. Attorney General Eric Holder announced Tuesday that Melson has a new job as a “senior adviser” in the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Policy. According to Holder, “Ken brings decades of experience at the department and extensive knowledge in forensic science to his new role, and I know he will be a valuable contributor on these issues. As he moves into this new role, I want to thank Ken for his dedication to the department over the last three decades.” Sounds just hunky-dory, doesn’t it? Don’t be surprised if in a few weeks a lonely Melson is gazing out of an obscure Justice Department office, staring at a flagpole, waiting for something to do.

Or maybe not. There is an alternative explanation for Melson’s promotion. His testimony before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee led by Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., was crucial in shining light on a misguided ATF program that allowed thousands of firearms to be sold to suppliers for Mexican drug cartels. The idea was the weapons would show up in Mexican crime scenes and thereby link high-ranking cartel figures to the ghastly murders that have become such a familiar part of the story south of the border.

Instead, some of the weapons — most cannot be accounted for by ATF — have shown up at crime scenes here in the U.S., including a desolate spot in the Arizona desert where a U.S. Border Patrol agent was gunned down in December. Officials from the top to the bottom of the Justice Department ran for the exits at that point, but Issa still managed to expose the basic facts about Operation Fast and Furious. Much of what Issa learned, however, came from sources other than Melson. And while Melson insisted that senior Justice Department officials knew and approved of the operation, nobody above him has been fired or otherwise disciplined as a result. Perhaps the new job — which pays well and is out of the spotlight — is intended simply to give Melson something else to talk about.

  67. I do not know about anyone else but I am thoroughly enjoying the cultist Democratic meltdown over Obama’s mesmerizing polling meltdown and the rise of the barbarian Perry. The hysteria is similar to Hurricane Irene. How dumb, churlish, ill bred, and religious is Perry? Probably not as dumb, churlish, ill bred and religious as the Obama’s. Rick Perry is a swaggering alpha, Obama is a swaggering beta. Mrs. Perry was a nurse and champions health care for women and children. Mrs Obama was political employee who formulated plans to throw poor people out of a publicly funded hospital who employed her.

When the Democratic Party rigged the rules for the nomination, then handed the party machinery over to the cheater to move to the capital of corruption Chicago, they were writing their own death certificate. Labor has abandoned them and will go their own way, elitist “progressives” are threatening to go to liberal “monasteries” (this is from Matt Stoller and confirms my hunch that many in the Dem Party are wimps and very lazy), and the vast middle who have been ignored are gearing up for a classic whip saw election. They are going to vote in the barbarian to get rid of the elite, condescending, impotent tyrant.

All of this could be avoided if what is left of the Democratic Party tells Obama that he blew it and its time to shuffle off to Chicago or wherever the hell has the best golf course. Second call should go to Hillary with abject apologies and who won the first time around.

Leading Economics Blog: US Economy Already In Recession

    Thanks Barack.

Forget the ifs, ands or buts… According to the top economics blog on the internet the US economy is already in recession.

The Economy Quietly Entered A Recession On Friday Tyler Durden at Zero Hedge reported:

While the key market moving event from last Friday may have been Bernanke’s Jackson Hole speech which merely left the door open to future QE episodes, the most important event from an economic standpoint was the first GDP revision Q2, which dropped from preliminary 1.3% to a sub stall speed, in real terms, 1.0%. What is just as important is that as the following chart from Bloomberg demonstrates, the YoY change in real GDP, which is now at 1.5%, is a slam dunk indicator of recession: “Since 1948, every time the four-quarter change has fallen below 2 percent, the economy has entered a recession. It’s hard to argue against an indicator with such a long history of accuracy.” Bernanke agreed that “growth has for the most part been at rates insufficient to achieve sustained reductions in unemployment.” And while Bernanke is shifting dangerously into Greenspan territory with the open-ended interpretation of his statement, another thing that is more actionable is the observation that virtually every time real YoY GDP has dropped below 1.5%, this has led to a negative nonfarm payroll number. Granted, the result may not be as shocking as what the Philly Fed implied vis-a-vis this Friday’s NFP, but we believe a subzero print in the August labor report will convince the three Fed holdouts that the time for yet another monetary intervention is here (Arab Spring part deux consequences be damned).

And, here are the latest micro-economic charts that tell the real story behind the Obama economy.

graphs at link verifying Tyler’s assessment. Great comments worth reading, separating the ‘wheat’ real news from the ‘chafe’ fed to the addled brained Hopium addicted Obamamites :

  74. Obama bombing again…..

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 19% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-four percent (44%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -25 (see trends).

That is just a single point above the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this president. The 19% Strong Approval matches the lowest yet ret recorded. The president now trails a Generic Republican by eight points. Tomorrow, Rasmussen Reports will release new results for match-ups between President Obama and individual Republican candidates.

Only 6% say Congress is doing a good or an excellent job while 66% rate the performance of the legislators as poor.

The Rasmussen Employment Index has fallen to the lowest level in a year. Just 17% of workers now report their firms are hiring while 24% see more layoffs coming from their employer.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates are also available on Twitter and Facebook.

Overall, 42% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president’s performance. Fifty-seven percent (57%) at least somewhat disapprove.

Depending on the use and intent of the word “inbred”- you can take it however suits you. My intent was meant as synonymous with these words commonly found in the dictionary … innate, inborn, instinctive, built-in, congenital, deep-seated, inherited, essential, inborn, inbred , ingrained, innate, intrinsic, natural.

I did think twice about using it in the sentence. Then thought, why not- both of my parents are Republicans as were their parents. Republican values are a philosophy learned at the knee of your parents and like minded relatives and the reason why I risked using the word “inbred”..

Nothing whatsoever to do with the level of intelligence between the North and the South, as I know Mormaer was kidding.. using an old saw as a point of jest.

The word: “inbreeding” takes on a completely different connotation altogether and could be confused with ‘inbred’. The inference when using the word ‘inbreeding’ is some form of line breeding acceptable in animals but undesirable in humans. I never intimated Republicans reside at the low end of the IQ scale in my post…on the contrary, they are far and away from anti-intellectuals. Their major strengths are an inbred/inborn sense of how to use other people’s money for their benefit to get what they want or need..it is a common well known thread that runs through the Republican mindset. That simple.

Just as all Republicans agree- never betray or disagree with your own in public.

“At the moment, [the experiment] actually says nothing about a possible cosmic-ray effect on clouds and climate.”

This “nothing” was magically transformed by climate-change skeptics and deniers into the aforementioned “convincing evidence”.

Solyndra shuts its doors, taking $535 million in taxpayer loan guarantees with it

    http://hotair.com/archives/2011/08/31/solyndra-shuts-its-doors/

At one time, Solyndra was the poster child for Barack Obama’s promise of a green-jobs explosion. Today, the solar-energy technology manufacturer a poster child for the failure of his stimulus, his green-jobs push, and social engineering in general. Solyndra abruptly shut its doors today and declared bankruptcy, two years after getting over a half-billion dollars from the Obama administration’s Porkulus:

Solyndra, a major manufacturer of solar technology in Fremont, has shut its doors, according to employees at the campus.

“I was told by a security guard to get my [stuff] and leave,” one employee said. The company employs a little more than 1,000 employees worldwide, according to its website.

Obama insisted in a May 2010 appearance last year that Solyndra would prove the effectiveness of his economic policies:

Solyndra was touted by the Obama administration as a prime example of how green technology could deliver jobs. The President visited the facility in May of last year and said “it is just a testament to American ingenuity and dynamism and the fact that we continue to have the best universities in the world, the best technology in the world, and most importantly the best workers in the world. And you guys all represent that. “

Unfortunately, the administration doesn’t have the best researchers in the world. As it turns out, Solyndra never made a profit, either before or after soaking up $535 million in loan guarantees. The money went to build a massive new facility, but eventually canceled an expansion and started laying off workers. Now, with Solyndra moving into Chapter 11, it looks like all that money is lost for good — and instead of saving or creating jobs, a thousand or more workers will have to start looking for a new job soon.

Solyndra certainly proved something about Obamanomics. It proved it to be a costly flop.

    ………………….

This is disastrous for Obama just when he is touting jobs.

BREAKING: Hazmat Crews at Scott Air Force Base, 3 Hospitalized

    Wednesday, August 31, 2011 12:08:15 PM

A developing story for you out of Scott Air Force Base, where emergency crews are dealing with a reported hazmat situation.

“Currently we’re responding to a suspicious package that occurred at the official mail center (Building 1650),” SAFB spokesman Lt. Benjamin Garland tells KMOX News.

He said they’re not releasing any further information about the “suspicious package” or what it may have contained at this time. However the package reportedly emitted a sulphur-like smell.

Early word from the scene is that at least 3 people have been transported to the hospital and a dozen more need decontamination.

KMOX has received some reports that the hazmat emergency stemmed from a suspicious package sent to the base, that gave handlers a rash.

Garland said two USPS employees and one airman had respiratory and rash reaction to the package and have been transported to the hospital.

The incident began just before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The education center, the bowling alley and ITT center at Scott are closed until further notice.

Senior Official in Egyptian Islamic Jihad: If We Come to Power, We will Launch a Campaign of Islamic Conquests to Instate Shari’a Worldwide: ‘The Christian is Free to Worship His God in His Church, but if the Christians Make Problems for the Muslims, I Will Exterminate Them’

On August 13, 2011, the Egyptian daily Roz Al-Yousef published an interview[1] with Sheikh ‘Adel Shehato, a senior official in Egyptian Islamic Jihad (EIJ), who, on March 23, 2011, was freed from prison in the wake of the Egyptian revolution. He was imprisoned in 1991 upon returning from a three-year sojourn in Afghanistan.

In the interview, Shehato expressed complete opposition to democracy “because it is not the faith of the Muslims, but the faith of the Jews and Christians.” He said that although the youth of the Arab revolutions have not declared the implementation of shari’a as one of their goals, the mujahideen nonetheless identify with their aspiration to overthrow the Arab rulers, whom they had always considered “infidels who must be killed because they do not rule according to the shari’a.” He added, however, that “once Allah’s law is applied, the role of the people will end and Allah will reign supreme.” He went on to say that although he supports Al-Qaeda’s ideology, shari’a law would not be enforced by violence but by da’wa (preaching), whereas violence would be used only against the infidel Arab rulers.

Shehato said that if the mujahideen came to power in Egypt, they would launch a campaign of Islamic conquests aimed at subjecting the entire world to Islamic rule. Muslim ambassadors would be appointed to each country, charged with calling upon them to join Islam willingly, but if the countries refused, war would be waged against them. He also described the nature of the Islamic state to be established in Egypt: there would be no trade or cultural ties with non-Muslims; tourist sites at the pyramids, the Sphinx, and Sharm Al-Sheikh would be shut down “because the tourists come [there] to drink alcohol and fornicate,” and all tourists wishing to visit Egypt would be required to comply with the conditions and laws of Islam; all art, painting, singing, dancing, and sculpture would be forbidden, and all culture would be purely Islamic.

“The Term “Democracy” is Not in the Arab or Islamic Lexicon; Once Allah’s Law Reigns Supreme, the People’s Role will End.

Following are excerpts of the interview:

What does that tell us? the technology has not evolved enough to sustain itself or, as the greeneis would say, green energy is not economically sustainable. Let the free market deter4mine when the energy is ready. Not the friggin’ government.

And, moononpluto, unfortunately, after the incident with my bot neighbor the other day I am pretty sure she will say that the companies didn’t pan out because no one gave BO’s plans a chance to work. Honest to god. That’s what she thinks or, at least, what she says.

    Mrs. S,

Did you see the article in the NY Post about the Muslim group celebrating the end of that el aid fatir (or however you spell that day) who closed down Rye Playland in Westchester County because the women did not want to comply with safety regs requiring all headwear to be removed before going on certain rides? You know, to avoid an Isadora Duncan moment?

Check the comments at THAT article. I LOVE the title: Ramadan head scarf brawl. ROTF!

Yes, I just finished reading the article. You bet they knew it was the law (for 3 yrs)… and probably were looking for a lawsuit if any of them had been hurt by a hibjab flying off someone’s head onto the rails of the rollacoaster ride causing a disaster.

What made me look twice is the comment by an irate muslim, “we were treated like dogs.” Well, they should feel right at home seeing their homeland treats them like dogs and they do nothing to change their culture of acceptance.

  95. The NBC/Politico debate isn’t moving: it will “continue to take place on Sept 7th,” sponsors say, despite Obama address.

BLITZER’S BLOG: Obama’s ‘make or break’ jobs speech
By: CNN’s “The Situation Room” Anchor Wolf Blitzer

(CNN) – Now we know that President Obama wants to deliver his major speech on jobs next Wednesday night before a joint session of the Senate and House. I’ve been calling it a “make or break” speech because jobs remains issue number one in his bid for re-election and there are still so many millions of Americans out of a job. There are millions more looking for a better job. Unless the president can turn things around between now and November 2012, his re-election will be in very deep trouble irrespective of his Republican challenger.

For the millions who are unemployed, the nation is not only in a recession, it’s in a depression. That’s certainly what it feels like for them
