Obooberama – ‘We Are Not Amused’

As opposed to diligent Queen Victoria Barack Obama announced this week he is “amused” by calls for him to get off the golf course and the endless fundraising superhighway and finally get to work. Heavens to Betsy! Heavens to Mergatroid, even…!

Amused Republicans, flat on the floor laughing, ejaculated a video to mock dour, unamused, Obooberama:

That’s so racist! When will the racism stop? When will it stop?

When will it stop? When will it stop? When will the racism against Obama stop? How dare anyone (et tu Willard?) use Obooberama’s own words against him! [Alright, at this point we might as well confess we are stealing liberally from an Uppity Woman’s video links to supply our Friday holiday weekend video fix.]

When will it stop? When? When?

Who gives a damn about the white working class anyway? Who gives a damn, even if you are a college graduate, if you are not enthralled with Obama?

You’re just a bunch of bumps.

* * * * * *

While we’re a-thieving and a-poaching, we might as well borrow this from that Uppity bitter clingy Woman:

This isn’t going to be a John McCain campaign, so you’d better start conjuring up more dead voters and Race Baiters, as if that will work again this time.

…..Or…you can admit you were a bunch of assclowns and run Hillary Clinton. Either way, have fun. We’ll wait.

We’ll wait is right. We’ll forgo the discounted $3.00 dinner with Joe and BO too. We won’t show up for Tee Time either.

We are not amused.

  1. Excellent article admin!

NOTE TO WAFFLES: Bill Clinton didn’t blame GH Bush 3 years into his presidency, GW Bush didn’t blame Clinton for the recession of 2000. Shut the hell up about your whining and moaning, either do the job or get off the stage and let someone competent, who has actually done something useful in their lives, run and be president.

I’m already seeing Waffles 2012 bumber stickers, makes my blood pressure rise seeing these buffoons.

  2. President O thinks he is king and Congress are his appointed ministers. I guess he missed class on the days three co equal branches of government were discussed. If I were the Republicans I would write and pass the most god awful bill I could and then tell him he has to show up or shut up.

  3. Admin- you sound pretty happy to have this weekend to yourself- Happy 4th of July to you!

    Immolate The IMF

The tawdry and ugly Dominique Strauss-Kahn affair has once again raised questions about the International Monetary Fund: What is the IMF? And do we need it? To be blunt, the world does not need the IMF; it does more harm than good. The world would be better off without it.

The Fund is no minor institution. It possesses some $375 billion in assets, including 90 million ounces of gold. Most of the money came from you, the American taxpayer.

Once upon a time the IMF had a useful purpose. It was created in the waning days of World War II to undergird the new postwar international monetary system. The dollar was fixed to gold, and other countries tied their currencies to the greenback at a fixed rate. The Fund’s task was to provide emergency short-term loans to countries that got into economic trouble, to give them breathing space in which to get their financial houses in order. The goal was to prevent a repeat of the competitive, catastrophic beggar-thy-neighbor currency devaluations that had deepened the Great Depression. Devaluations are a form of protectionism–almost on a par with imposing tariffs on imports–wherein countries get short-term advantage by cheapening their money, which temporarily make their exports cheaper. Longer term, all the exercise does is deepen the downward spiral and prevent a robust economic recovery.

The Bretton Woods system worked perfectly well, with the IMF playing a part from time to time. Devaluations were rare–and orderly. Then in the early 1970s the U.S. blew up the arrangement. Beguiled by false economic nostrums, Washington bought into the notion that trashing your currency could keep your domestic economy growing and unemployment low. No more fixed exchange rates.

Did the IMF close shop when its purpose was rendered moot? Ronald Reagan correctly observed that a government program or agency is the closest thing we get to immortality on this Earth. The IMF reinvented itself as a global economic doctor. Instead of helping a nation keep its exchange rate steady, the IMF would cure all the country’s economic woes. Commercial banks loved it because the Fund could impose draconian measures on wayward borrowers, and the banks would avoid direct political flak for being Western economic imperialists.

Trouble is that the IMF’s prescriptions almost always perpetuated poverty for its patients. It practiced ersatz Keynesianism on steroids. Countries were invariably advised to devalue their currencies–which only fed domestic inflation–and to raise taxes.

Thankfully, because of Ronald Reagan’s policies the U.S. boomed, and the rest of the world started to engage in more free-market economics after the fall of the Berlin Wall. As a result, the IMF found fewer and fewer countries on which to ply its poisons. By the early part of the last decade the agency truly had nothing to do. Alas, the U.S. never entertained the notion of shutting the thing down.

Then came the economic crisis, and the IMF was back in business. Once again its advice has been toxic. It has put off the inevitable debt restructuring for countries like Greece. And it is peddling austerity without the necessary companion policies that engender growth. Greece, for instance, needs to rein in spending. It must engage in serious privatizations again. But it also needs policies that will enable its economy to come back to life, such as a low-rate flat income tax. Russia enacted one more than a decade ago. Collections doubled in Russia within four years for two reasons: the ease of enforcement and an economy that was once again expanding. During the 1990s the IMF had told Moscow to more vigorously enforce its unenforceable tax code (one that made ours look pristine).

And weep not for IMF employees, who, by the way, pay virtually no income tax. There’s more than enough money to give them fabulous severance packages.

So let’s do to this agency what Henry VIII did to monasteries: Shut it down and distribute the booty back to those who put it in in the first place. Uncle Sam would ultimately collect more than $70 billion.

“On a conference call with reporters Friday, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) acknowledged that President Obama may not need Congressional authorization to avoid a default on the national debt. But he noted, too, that the Constitutional debate on this question isn’t ripe enough yet for Obama to take an end run around Congress, even if Republicans refuse to increase the national borrowing limit.

I asked Schumer, a lawyer, whether, in his view, the administration had the power to continue issuing new debt even if Congress fails to raise the debt limit. He acknowledged that the question’s been discussed, but said the White House probably shouldn’t go there just yet.

“It’s certainly worth exploring,” Schumer said. “I think it needs a little more exploration and study. It’s probably not right to pursue at this point and you wouldn’t want to go ahead and issue the debt and then have the courts reverse it.””

Optimistic Obama: “I Got Five-And-A-Half Years More To Go”

A confident President Obama said he understood that people are frustrated and he has yet to get “everything done,” however he said this was only the beginning. “It’s only been two and a half years. I got five and a half years more to go,” Obama said at a fundraiser in Philadelphia on Thursday night. Full transcript below:

“And, Philadelphia, I know there are some of you who are frustrated because we haven’t gotten everything done that we said we were going to do in two and a half years. It’s only been two and a half years. I got five and a half years more to go. (Applause.) And there are — look, there are times where I feel frustrated. But we knew this wasn’t going to be easy. We knew a journey like this one, there were going to be setbacks, like there were setbacks during the first campaign. There are going to be times where we stumble, just we stumbled sometimes during the first campaign.”

  8. from the interview:
““Look, I’ve been pretty blunt in what I think of this President. I think he’s in over his head, I think he’s in denial and yesterday he acted like a ten-year-old. Now, none of that bothers me because I don’t think he’s really even part of this debate. This President a few months ago started running for re-election. He hasn’t been serious about any of the serious fiscal issues our country is facing. I don’t take him very seriously. . . . .”

“We voted for this guy because of who he was. We didn’t vote for him based on anything he’d done, because he really didn’t have much of a resume – We all acknowledge that. I think very few of us voted for him because of anything he said. He was a historic figure, and now I think we are beginning to wake up and realize he doesn’t know what he’s doing, and worse than that – he doesn’t like to take any kind of criticism. I’m not talking about you in particular, Eliot – your profession (the media) has protected this guy. He’s in a cocoon, and the minute somebody pokes him and gets critical with him, look at how huffy he gets. He says, “Where have you been Republicans?” Here’s a guy who has been on 33 fundraising trips since the beginning of the year, who’s been on 17 rounds of golf, and he’s talking about where the Republicans have been. You may not like what we’re doing, but the Republicans have put forward a budget – 800 days now and the Senate (Democrat-controlled) hasn’t done anything, and this President has been AWOL.””

‘I see the worry creasing his face’: Michelle Obama reveals the toll of presidential office on her husband
    By Daily Mail Reporter

Last updated at 1:22 PM on 1st July 2011

Concerns: Michelle Obama has described how the weight of office has taken its toll on her husband

First lady Michelle Obama gave a fascinating insight into just how heavily the weight of office rests on her husband’s shoulders and how the job of president has taken it’s toll.

Speaking at a fund-raiser for the Democratic National Committee in Massachusetts she told of his total dedication to the job and told how she worries about the increasing number of lines on his face

She said: ‘I see the worry creasing his face. I hear the passion and determination in his voice.

”You won’t believe what these folks are going through;’ he told me that last night.

”Michelle, it is not right. We’ve got to fix this. We have to do more,’

‘Barack always reminds me that we are playing a long game,

‘He reminds me, as I said to you, too, that change is slow.

‘He reminds me that change doesn’t happen all at once, but that if we keep showing up, if we keep fighting the good fight, doing what we know is right, then eventually we will get there, because the truth is we always have in this country. We always have.’

Michelle Obama said that when her husband first told her he was planning to run for president she had serious doubts about how it would affect their young family.

She added: ‘I was proud of the work that he was doing in the Senate. And I thought that he would make a phenomenal president.

    ‘That wasn’t the issue.

‘But, like a lot of folks, I still had some cynicism about politics. And with two young daughters at home, I was worried about the toll that a presidential campaign would take on our family.

‘So it took some convincing on Barack’s part. And by ‘some,’ I mean a lot; he’s still paying back.’

Mrs Obama said that it was going on the campaign trail in 2008 and getting out an meeting voters – that led to her having a change of heart.

She added: ‘It’s about meeting people one-on-one, hearing what’s going on in their lives.’

The first lady wore her hair up, with a cream-coloured dress with black-fleck pattern and high heels as she addressed the mainly female crowd at the Chestnut Hill home of philanthropists and Democratic activists Elaine and Gerald Schuster.

She went on to speak of her confidence in young daughters Malia and Sasha.

She added: ‘The truth is that no matter what happens, my girls will be OK.

‘My girls will have plenty of advantages and opportunities in their lives. And that’s probably true for many of your kids as well.

‘But I think that the last four years have shown us the truth of what Barack has always said: That if any child in this country is left behind, then that matters to all of us, even if she’s not our daughter, and even if he’s not our son.

‘If any family in this country struggles, then we cannot be fully content with our own family’s good fortune, because that is not what we do in this country.’

    &&&&&&

Until I heard Michelle Obama’s exquisite explanation about how hard working, hard fighting, dedicated and intelligent Barry is, I was completely under this misapprehension that he was a lazy fuckup who only won offices by race-baiting and sliming his legit opponents, and that as president he is the worst one ever.

But now I see the light…Four more years!!!

    Heh, heh.

  16. I guess Barry is having a hard time…the honeymoon is over and he can’t get away with just voting present because there is no rock he can hide under.

I think of all the assclowns that voted for this jerk’s skin.

May they either be unemployed or have lost most of their 401 K’s.

  17. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2010137/Dominique-Strauss-Kahn-FREE-Ex-IMF-boss-released-bail-rape-maid-lied.html

But, in a stunning reversal in the case, the spotlight has shifted to his accuser.

She claims Strauss-Kahn subjected her to a vicious sex attack when she came to clean his suite at the Sofitel hotel, telling investigators he was naked and chased her across the room.

Forensic tests have revealed the pair definitely had a sexual encounter, but defence lawyers have claimed it was consensual.

While public opinion has so far weighed heavily against Strauss-Kahn, who has a reputation as an aggressive womaniser, the maid’s lawyer had portrayed her as a hard-working single mother and devout Muslim.

But according to law enforcement officials who spoke to the New York Times, that image appears to be very far from the truth.

Two official sources said the unnamed woman spoke on the telephone to an imprisoned alleged drug dealer within a day of her encounter with Strauss-Kahn.

In the conversation, which was recorded, she reportedly discussed the possible benefits of pursuing the charges against Strauss-Kahn.

Investigators also say they learnt that the man on the other end of the phone, who is accused of possessing 400lb of marijuana, is among several people who put cash deposits amounting to more than £62,000 into the maid’s bank account over the past two years.

In addition, the woman has been paying hundreds of dollars each month in phone charges to five companies even though she told police she had only one phone.

She allegedly told officials that she knew only that the deposits were made by a man she described as her fiancé and his friends.

Prosecutors also say they discovered inconsistencies in her account of her past life. She is said to have lied about details on her application for asylum in the U.S., including saying she had been gang-raped by soldiers in Guinea.

Investigators said they also found a discrepancy between her account of how she had been subjected to genital mutilation and the version she had provided in her asylum application.

In a letter to the court Miss Illuzzi-Orbon laid out in detail the problems with the alleged victim.

In her application for asylum to the U.S. for herself and her daughter in 2004 she said that the home she shared with her husband in Guinea was burned by soldiers for the country’s regime.

Her husband was then supposedly tortured in jail where he died of his injuries.
According to prosecutors she later admitted this was a lie.

Prosecutors also said that she cried when she recounted to them the story from her asylum application of how she had been gang-raped in Guinea, but later admitted that this was also a lie.

She also allegedly owned up to falsely claiming a friend’s child as her own to get a higher tax refund, and misrepresenting her income to stay in her present home. Her lawyer, Kenneth Thompson, admitted outside court that her asylum application was ‘not completely accurate’ but accused New York’s district attorney of deserting his client because he was scared of losing such a high profile case.

He also said suggestions his client was involved in drug dealing were a ‘lie’ and claimed the maid’s daughter had told him that prosecutors had ‘mistreated’ and ‘screamed at’ her mother while interviewing her.

Although prosecutors have revealed their doubts about the maid, they stressed they have not necessarily changed their mind about the charges against Strauss-Kahn.

    ……………………….

These prosecutors are gonna end up looking like complete morons, its becoming very clear, its a stitch up that was then pursued for political reasons by who?

  18. admin & UW: great coalition!

Mitten’s ads are terrific. May contribute just to help air them!

On the theme of people employing freer speech on the airwaves about Obama, and recalling that Obama was in Philadelphia this past Thursday, here are loose paraphrases of the evening commuter traffic as reported at one station in Philly:
Thursday: The President was in town and now traffic is a mess.
Friday: There are problems, but not nearly as bad as yesterday when the President was in town.

And lest we forget admin’s words from the previous post, “Hillary Clinton’s Dilemma”:

Every American should be chilled to the bone marrow by the latest news that Barack Obama will remove all sensible advice from his “in” box in favor of planned and organized treachery/boobery: “The Los Angeles Times reports that Barack Obama has decided to shed his consensus approach to leadership and start making decisions on his own”….

  19. See its all coming out now……the unions were running her as a hooker or at least they knew. This woman needs to go to jail on a number of charges, prostitution, wasting police time, false accusation, tax evasion, conspiracy…….the whole damn book. Funny how it all unravelling now a new IMF chief has been appointed, this was held onto until then.

    http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/maid_cleaning_up_as_hooker_0mMd759PLuYGYYJyA0RNbI

Maid cleaning up as ‘hooker’ – Big tips for extra ‘turndown service’ – Dominique Strauss-Kahn

Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s accuser wasn’t just a girl working at a hotel — she was a working girl.

The Sofitel housekeeper who claims the former IMF boss sexually assaulted her in his room was doing double duty as a prostitute, collecting cash on the side from male guests, The Post has learned.

“There is information . . . of her getting extraordinary tips, if you know what I mean. And it’s not for bringing extra f–king towels,” a source close to the defense investigation said yesterday.

The woman was allegedly purposely assigned to the Midtown hotel by her union because it knew she would bring in big bucks.

“When you’re a chambermaid at Local 6, when you first get to the US, you start at the motels at JFK [Airport]. You don’t start at the Sofitel,” the source said. “There’s a whole squad of people who saw her as an earner.”

The woman also had “a lot of her expenses — hair braiding, salon expenses — paid for by men not related to her,” the source said.

Allegations that she worked as a hotel hooker may explain why Strauss-Kahn insists their encounter was consensual. His defense attorneys refused yesterday to comment on the damning evidence — or say whether he paid her for sex.

Sources also told The Post Strauss-Kahn’s probers uncovered evidence that she was part of a pyramid scheme that targeted immigrants from her native Guinea.

“We have people who have been victimized, who have claimed she ripped them off. Nice working people from her neighborhood,” a source said.

The stunning new info surfaced yesterday as the accuser was unmasked as a pathological liar and scam artist by prosecutors whose rape case has unraveled.

  20. Also her “union” needs to be raided and investigated, its obviously at least a RICO investigation for racketeering and prostitution ring.

  21. ‘Being half black’ doesn’t qualify Obama, says Jon Huntsman backer (PUMA de Rothschild )

    By ALEXANDER BURNS | 7/1/11

Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a former Hillary Clinton fundraiser who is now a major financial backer of the Jon Huntsman campaign, explains her opposition to President Obama in some … indelicate terms:

She said she is still registered as a Democrat, but considers herself independent and won’t support the party as long as Obama is president.

“America needs a president who understands the special sauce of what it is that makes this country great,” she said. “The fact of his personal story of being half black and all that is a wonderful, inspiriting story. But it doesn’t qualify him to be president.”

The comment echoes a common, 2008-vintage complaint among Hillary Clinton supporters that Obama – as Geraldine Ferraro put it – “happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.”

A spokesman for Huntsman had no comment on Forester’s remark. Forester was the host of a Huntsman fundraiser in New York last week that the campaign said raised $1.2 million.

  22. $4 Trillion for War—and Counting

    Posted on Jul 1, 2011
    By Joe Conason

Anyone paying attention to the costs of U.S. military action in Iraq and Afghanistan must have known that the president badly underestimated those numbers on June 22, when he told the nation that we have spent “a trillion dollars” waging war over the past decade. For well over two years, we have known that the total monetary cost of those wars will eventually amount to well over $2 trillion, and might well rise higher, according to Nobel economist Joseph Stiglitz and his associate Linda Bilmes.

What we didn’t know until this week is that the expense in constant dollars—leaving aside the horrific price paid by the dead, wounded, displaced and ruined in every country—will likely reach well over $4.4 trillion.

That is the conclusion of a study released by the Eisenhower Research Project, a group of scholars, diplomats and other experts based at Brown University’s Watson Institute for International Studies. The Eisenhower study doesn’t scant the human damage, which its authors say has been underestimated as badly as the fiscal costs. According to them, “an extremely conservative estimate of the toll in direct war dead and wounded is about 225,000 dead and about 365,000 physically wounded in these wars so far”—including those in Pakistan, which is embroiled in war just as lethally as Afghanistan.

The American military dead in all three countries now totals more than 6,000, a figure that does not include another 2,300 in U.S. military contractors; the American wounded, military and civilian, are well over 100,000, which doesn’t include the psychological destruction wreaked on those who served and their families. The most obvious indicator is the exceptionally high suicide rate among the million or more returned veterans.

The Eisenhower study’s authors concede that they cannot readily estimate the full value of the economic and social damage we have sustained as a nation—in lost years of work and wrecked families, as well as huge interest costs on the money borrowed to finance these interventions. Nor can they fully account for the growth and investment forfeited because such a great proportion of the nation’s resources was squandered on war rather than pressing needs in infrastructure, energy, education and health.

For less than 5 percent of what we have spent on war—to consider one example among many—we could have completed an American high-speed rail system and repaired most of our crumbling infrastructure, too.

Even if the current war could somehow be concluded instantly, however, the moral and fiscal obligations incurred so far will continue for decades. Beyond the mandatory disability payments, medical and psychiatric care, and additional benefits to which our veterans are entitled, we will face the prospect of increasing military budgets to restore the equipment and readiness of the battered Army and National Guard.

And those costs in turn will subtract from the scant dollars left for domestic programs—as President Eisenhower himself observed when he said, “Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.”

It is sobering to revisit the question of what war has cost us in this generation at a moment when the debate over the nation’s finances is so furious and yet so often frivolous.

But it is ever more important to remember how we arrived at this dead end, especially as we listen to the braying Republican leaders who refuse to consider any tax increase. Our fiscal woe is the legacy of their policy, waging war at enormous expense, while sharply reducing taxes on the rich. What we live with now is what “conservatism” has wrought.

  23. God Bless this lady lynn de rothchild, she may be a rothschild, but she is a true american story, built up her own successful business.

““America needs a president who understands the special sauce of what it is that makes this country great,” she said. “The fact of his personal story of being half black and all that is a wonderful, inspiriting story. But it doesn’t qualify him to be president.””

Gee, I wonder how long before they start calling her a racist again, they called her a racist in 2008, on youtube, oh my, racist crap, sexist crap against her (and Gerraro) are still there. Like Uppity’s wonderful line asked:

“This isn’t going to be a John McCain campaign, so you’d better start conjuring up more dead voters and Race Baiters, as if that will work again this time.

…..Or…you can admit you were a bunch of assclowns and run Hillary Clinton. Either way, have fun. We’ll wait.”

PUMAs never forgot what these Obot thugs and DNC thugs did in 2008, and the repubs this time aren’t the regular cocktail party types, these are millions of tea party ones as well, and those that share the sentiment of the tea party movement, is Waffles and his minions going to call them racists? and then hide behind his race? You Betcha!

And the backlash will be more severe and swift, Clyburn tried it 2 months ago, and had to backtrack immediately the next day. If the race card is used, those white working class (and in reality all working classes), well the exodus from the “democratic” party will accelerate exponentially.

  24. Seeing BO has gone to Camp David, I wonder if the “R” Congress he attempted to embarrass has stayed in DC knowing BO is relaxing with a Mai Tai in his hand and his feet upon the furniture.

Lindsey Graham, is that you mumbling those expletives sighting Ole Mitch as fool for taking BO seriously. Oh, you’re going home for the holiday weekend because Mitch has decided to stay on to do some work? Good for you!

  25. The Ulsterman Report: Even Democrat Admits “Bewilderment” Over Bizarre Obama Press Conference

    Ulsterman on June 30, 2011

White House Press Secretary reduced to telling media Obama can in fact, “Walk and chew gum at the same time.” Growing number of Republicans and Democrats remain unconvinced

He had not held a press conference in over three months. Based on a performance roundly scorned by both media and politicians alike, perhaps President Obama’s handlers had a very good reason for keeping the president shielded from prolonged moments of open communication.

Predictably, Republicans are taking President Obama to task for offering up no solutions to the debt and economy. These same Republicans are also rebuking the president for his oft-repeated complaints that Congress needs to “get to work” in coming to an agreement on the debt ceiling crisis that is looming just a month away. To have a man who has spent 13 consecutive weekends golfing, and has only met sparingly with members of Congress over the course of several months, now demanding others “get to work” does indeed come off a bit less than…sincere.

Republicans are far from alone though in suggesting President Obama’s Wednesday press conference was a less than stellar moment for the nation’s CEO – a moment in fact when the president flubbed the age of his own daughter. A just published report in POLITICO shares the view of a senior Congressional Democrat Democrat as being “bewildered” while watching Obama’s press conference performance. This same Democrat suggested the president is living in a glass house, and would do well to cancel all future golf and vacation outings. (Obama is scheduled to leave for posh Martha’s Vineyard in the coming days for yet another vacation from a job so many even within his own political party claim he barely functions at.)

Questions of Barack Obama’s abilities, or lack thereof, have reached such levels that White House Spokesman Jay Carney angrily stated to the press this week that the president can in fact “…walk and chew gum at the same time”….

“The laughter of the media at Carney’s remark is now suggestive of how a growing number are viewing Barack Obama himself – via the president’s inability to lead or even communicate effectively when he is not reading from a script, President Obama is now very much himself a sad punch-line.

If a new president is not elected in 2012 – the joke will ultimately be on America(ns) though…

  26. The Ulsterman Report: Senator Tom Coburn Rips Into Obama’s Failure of Leadership

In a powerful interview given to Laura Ingraham earlier today, Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma let fly with a barrage of pointed complaints against President Obama’s penchant for constant campaigning and ultra partisan politics even during times of economic crisis for the country.

“It’s about his next election. You know, all this is about is, this is a political campaign he’s in, rather than a policy campaign for what is best for our country right now.”Tom Coburn

Senator Coburn’s remarks come on the same day Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell shared the fact President Obama denied an invitation by McConnell to meet and discuss potential solutions to the looming debt ceiling crisis that will hit the nation in less than a month. According to President Obama, who is preparing for another vacation to Martha’s Vineyard, such a meeting is “…not a conversation worth having.”

What makes Coburn’s criticism of Barack Obama’s worthy worthy of further consideration is the fact Senator Coburn is highly regarded as one willing to work with members of the opposition, with a long standing record of bi-partisan accomplishment. It would appear though, that even the considerable patience of the Oklahoma senator has reached its limit when it comes to the lazy, self-involved, and consistently partisan President Obama:

“He should have been negotiating with these people for the last four or five months, rather than create a sense of somebody’s negotiating, and somebody’s moving the ball every time somebody gets close.”

I think it is all about the 2012 election and not anything about our problems…

…“What we need is real leadership to stand up and say we understand we have to live within our means, we’re going to make the difficult choices. We are going to ask everyone to share in that, including corporate America, everyone is going to share in that, and that’s so we can create prosperity in the future.”

    Well said Senator.

  27. If Obama keeps this up, angry seniors collecting SS and those waiting a few more years to retire, will be thinking about doing things they don’t want to do to make this president go away.. It’s their “own” money and is separate and apart from anything resembling government welfare. This money has been tapped at various times by the government to fund government shortfalls. Cut it or take it away- is at your own peril. They voted for you and they certainly are entitled to change their minds at the ballot box.

Obama: ‘Nothing can be off-limits’ in budget

    yahoo July 02,2011

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama said Saturday that “nothing can be off-limits” in the budget debate — even though Republicans have said tax increases are. The president said every tax break and federal program must come under scrutiny.

With an Aug. 2 deadline looming to raise the government borrowing limit, the president used his weekly radio and Internet address to call on Congress to make a deal.

He also renewed his call for Congress to eliminate some tax breaks for the well-off as part of any agreement. Republicans want deep spending cuts without any tax increases while Obama and Democrats call for what they term a “balanced” approach. That means one that also includes new revenue in the form of higher taxes for some, though Democrats steer clear of using phrases like “tax increases” or “higher taxes.”

“Now, it would be nice if we could keep every tax break, but we can’t afford them,” Obama said. “Because if we choose to keep those tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires, or for hedge fund managers and corporate jet owners, or for oil and gas companies pulling in huge profits without our help — then we’ll have to make even deeper cuts somewhere else.”

“Nothing can be off-limits, including spending in the tax code, particularly the loopholes that benefit very few individuals and corporations,” the president said.

Lawmakers and the administration are seeking deficit cuts in the range of $2.4 trillion over the coming decade to balance a similar increase in the debt limit — one that’s large enough to keep the government afloat past the November 2012 election. Currently the debt limit is $14.3 trillion, and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner says it must be raised by Aug. 2 to avoid defaulting on the government’s financial obligations for the first time in the nation’s history.

With both sides dug into their positions, it’s not clear how compromise will be reached, though the Senate canceled its plans to take a July Fourth recess next week in order to stay in Washington and work on the problem.

Obama expressed confidence a deal could be made and instead of singling out Republicans as the barriers to agreement, he directed his message to Democrats and Republicans alike.

“We’ve got to cut the deficit, but we can do that while making investments in education, research and technology that actually create jobs,” the president said. “We can live within our means while still investing in our future. That’s what we have to do. And I’m confident that the Democrats and Republicans in Congress can find a way to give some ground, make some hard choices, and put their shoulders to wheel to get this done.”

Republicans used their weekly address to criticize Obama on the economy and renew their opposition to tax increases.

“The president and Democrats in Congress must recognize that their game plan is not working. It’s time to acknowledge that more government and higher taxes is not the answer to our problem,” said Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind. “It’s time for bold action and a new plan to address our current crisis.”

Coats said that it was time for the government to “stop spending money we don’t have and to enact policies that will grow our economy and get Americans back to work.”

  28. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton demanded on Saturday that Moamer Kadhafi deliver democracy instead of threats, after the Libyan leader warned Europe of stinging attacks unless NATO halts its air war.

“Instead of issuing threats, Kadhafi should put the well-being and interests of his own people first and he should step down from power and help facilitate a democratic transition,” Clinton said on a visit to NATO ally Spain, the latest leg of a European tour.

In a speech broadcast by loudspeaker to thousands of loyalists gathered in Tripoli’s emblematic Green Square on Friday, the Libyan leader had warned that his loyalists could launch stinging attacks on Europe like “locusts and bees”.

“The Libyan people are capable, one day, of taking the battle to Europe and the Mediterranean,” Kadhafi said.

“They could attack your homes, your offices, your families, which could become legitimate military targets because you have transformed our offices, headquarters, homes and children into military targets which you say are legitimate,” Kadhafi said.

“If we decide to do so, we are capable of throwing ourselves on Europe like swarms of locusts or bees.”

Spanish Foreign Minister Trinidad Jimenez was asked at a news conference with Clinton about Kadhafi’s threat and vowed that NATO would keep up the pressure on the Libyan leader.

“The answer of Spain and the international coalition is to maintain the unity and determination with which we have been working in the past months,” she said.

“We are working together to protect the Libyan people from the threats and violence that Kadhafi is employing against them. We will stay until we achieve our goals.”

  29. I did a little handicapping of a few of the current R candidates.

The R primary is going to be a free-for-all, and fun to watch. It’s an odd experience for me to be evaluating candidates with no real emotional investment on my part. I’ll be voting for whoever opposes Obama in the end, but I’m not for any of them, in the absolute sense. Sarah would come closest to what I’d want for a Republican, so I hope she gets in.

Bachmann is interesting. Quite frankly, the only news clips I had ever seen of her were the most unflattering ones possible, and I admit I thought her a bit of a loon. Now that I’ve seen some lengthy interviews, it’s apparent that this is one quick, smart, competent woman who is very informed and insightful on any number of issues from taxes to foreign policy to manufacturing. But she SUCKS on social issues. Really badly.

I’ve watched some interviews with Herman Cain, and he is killer on domestic stuff. It’s not just that he was a businessman, it’s that he is a businessman who got thrown into position after position heading a BADLY failing enterprise. And he fixed the problems. He said that part of being a leader is knowing how to listen, and then understanding what questions to ask. He’s a solution oriented person, with a track record of solving complex budgetary/staffing/streamlining/organizational problems. But he is vague and unconvincing and simplistic on foreign policy.

Romney’s problem is that while he’s intelligent and has shown a degree of competence in various endeavors, he is owned by the old GOP establishment, and you are never sure if he has any real core convictions other than advancing the GOP. I can vote for a candidate whom I disagree with on stuff, but who is sincere and honest in their convictions, easier than one whose convictions seem tried on for size.

Thad McCotter is really interesting, though I doubt he’ll get much traction, being far too pro-union for the teaparty crowd. But hey, he’s from freaking Detroit, he HAS to be.

Here are some excerpts from one of his recent interviews. He has a sly deadpan humor that I think will liven up the race if nothing else. 😀

JB: What actions by the Obama administration do you see as the biggest threats to our growth and/or liberty?
    TM: His seeking re-election.
    ———–
What has been your approach to fitting in — or not fitting in — with the D.C. scene?
TM: As a Detroiter, I instinctively reject the Gucci-shoed D.C. divas’ dysfunction that deems what’s nuts is normal.

  30. This sort of thing keeps on happening to Barack Obama. Its very Shakespearean (see for instance, the play Julius Caesar). He can say he’s president and keep repeating it at every event, but the presidential seal just won’t accept it. The presidential seal, like the TOTUS does not want to be seen or associated with the boob:

    http://www.philly.com/philly/news/20110702_On_Obama_s_visit__presidential_seal_blew_off_his_limo_on_I-76__it_later_was_recovered.html

There’s nothing quite like that feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you just know that you’ve lost something important.

It happens to people all the time – especially travelers.

Some folks leave a favorite T-shirt behind in a hotel room. Others drop a set of keys at the airport.

Just ask, ahem, President Obama. Seems the big guy lost a magnetic presidential seal that was affixed to the side of his limousine as he wrapped up a fundraising visit to Philly on Thursday.

The seal flew off the side of the limo and whipped by motorists in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 76, where it was presumed lost . . . until shortly before noon yesterday.

That’s when a veteran Philadelphia police officer found the seal on the side of the highway, near the Montgomery Avenue exit, while he was assisting the driver of a disabled vehicle, said Cynthia Wofford, the special agent in charge of the U.S. Secret Service Philadelphia field office.

“The officer was a part of the presidential motorcade the night before,” Wofford said. “It was turned over, so it wasn’t so obvious, but he found it for us.”

Wofford said members of the motorcade saw the seal fall from Obama’s limo as it traveled on the expressway.

A handful of law-enforcement officials tried searching for the seal in the darkness on Thursday to no avail.

“We’re very grateful. It’s in my office now, but it will be shipped back to Washington, D.C.,” Wofford said.

The Police Department declined to identify the officer.

Obama’s presidential seal has made the news at least once before,

On Oct. 5, 2010, as the president was addressing Fortune magazine’s 2010 Most Powerful Women Summit at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C., his speech was interrupted when the seal on the front of the lectern clattered to the floor.

The president paused, peered over the top of the lectern, and said: “Oh, goodness,” then added, “That’s all right. All of you know who I am.”

  31. JournoLister Greg Sargent still making excuses for Obama and having to acknowledge that some pro-Obama Jews are facing up to reality:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/post/obama-campaign-to-go-on-the-offensive-against-conservative-critics-of-israel-stance/2011/03/03/AGfWCmtH_blog.html

Obama’s top presidential campaign advisers are putting together a plan to go on the offensive against critics of his stance on Israel, I’m told, and are assembling a team of high profile surrogates who are well respected in the Jewish community to battle criticism in the media and ensure that it doesn’t go unanswered.

Obama’s supporters say the plan is in effect an acknowledgment that conservative attacks on Obama’s Israel stance have made defections among Jewish voters and donors a possibility they must take seriously. Obama’s advisers see a need to push back even harder on the attacks than they did in 2008, in part because Obama now has a record on the issue to defend — a record that even Obama’s supporters concede has not been adequately explained.

A group of well-known figures in the Jewish community has been in discussions with senior Obama adviser David Axelrod about how to respond to the criticism, which is expected to intensify as the campaign heats up. Among them: Alan Solow, the former head of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations; former Congressmen Mel Levine and Robert Wexler; and executive Penny Pritzker. [snip]

But the difference now, Obama’s supporters say, is that conservatives are having some success in distorting his record. Obama supporters do in fact worry about the concerns conservatives have succeeded in sowing among Jewish Democrats, and they expect conservatives to invest substantial resources in continuing that effort.

“I can’t deny that people express to me concerns about the president’s policies,” Solow said. “But when I run through the record with them, they are by and large convinced that the president’s policies are correct.”

The effort to make this point, I’m told, will also be proactive, with surrogates publishing op ed pieces that represent the White House’s point of view. And it will include a renewed effort to highlight other aspects of Obama’s record that have gone under-discussed, like increased military cooperation between Israel and the United States.

Two of the primary conservative arguments against Obama are that he called for Israel to return to 1967 lines and that he has not publicly stated with enough clarity that Israel will not be expected to negotiate with a government that includes a Hamas that has not recognized Israel’s right to exist.

The first point is false, though reasonable people can debate whether Obama was right to go public with a call for talks around 1967 lines with swaps or whether his timing was sound. Pushed on whether there’s anything to the second point, Axelrod flatly denied it.

“The president does not believe that any country can be asked to negotiate with a terrorist organization that is sworn to its destruction and unwilling to abandon that goal or embrace a peaceful settlement of the conflict,” he said. “He could not have been clearer about that.”

  32. wow, just wow.

I have not been following the DSK story much, but based on his past behavior I assumed he must have done wrong, and in fact he still may have in that hotel room, but everyday more stories about the accuser keep coming out, and none of them help her credibility.
What is stunning is how much the maid has lied about her history, her past, etc, this will only accelerate the prosecutors dropping the case as the credibility of the accuser is just falling apart.

    http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/maid_cleaning_up_as_hooker_0mMd759PLuYGYYJyA0RNbI#ixzz1QxTalIG3

“Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s accuser wasn’t just a girl working at a hotel — she was a working girl.

The Sofitel housekeeper who claims the former IMF boss sexually assaulted her in his room was doing double duty as a prostitute, collecting cash on the side from male guests, The Post has learned.”

  33. ““The president does not believe that any country can be asked to negotiate with a terrorist organization that is sworn to its destruction and unwilling to abandon that goal or embrace a peaceful settlement of the conflict,” he said. “He could not have been clearer about that.””

Yep, clear as mud, just as he is about everything. And for this man to say Waffles is pro-Isreal is pretty laugable, just look at the church he went to, the friends he hungs around. Yea, sure he’s pro-isreal.

  34. Tim, here is one of the headlines on the Politico front page:

    Huntsman backer plays race card

‘Being half black’ doesn’t qualify Obama to be president, fundraiser host says.

Question: Who is really playing the race card here? LFR or Politico?

  35. tim, posted it earlier, the inference is the fact her union supplied her apparently knowing “she could make big bucks”, deserves a rico investigation. The woman obviously is here in the country under false asylum claim and they know about it, she should be sent back to where she came from. She needs to go to jail if she did all this under malice.

Thank you for the link; now lets see if the cocktail party repub like Huntsman backtracks or confronts this head on.

My guess, they will go hide in their corners. Clyburn I remember played the race card, I believe it was Palin supporters, Rand Paul supporters and Cain smacked him down, the WH was forced to retreat by making Clyburn retreat the very next day. These WH people are chicago thugs, and need to be treated as such, they are nothing but cowardly bullies.

  37. “She needs to go to jail if she did all this under malice.”

moon, on that I agree with you. When I heard that she had 100K deposited, I assumed it was within a few days of this whole thing erupting, to frame her, but she has been getting these deposits for years, this is sounding more and more like this case will be dismissed, very surprised that the prosecutrs in nyc were this careless.

  38. President Obama declares a wildfire emergency in Texas — finally

    Stop the presses!

After months of wildfires that have scorched more than 1.2 million acres of the Lone Star State, President Obama today declared the state a “major disaster” area.

Gov. Rick Perry, the state’s Republican senators and GOP legislators in Austin and Washington have been hammering Obama since April, saying that the president was ignoring a crisis in Texas while responding to other disasters in Alabama, Missouri and elsewhere. Federal Emergency Management Agency personnel said the state did not qualify for “major disaster” status because fires are treated differently than other natural disasters. White House officials flatly denied any bias against Texas, as was alleged by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Dallas, and Perry.

The Texas governor repeatedly filed requests for a presidential disaster declaration, even after Obama’s serial refusal to approve his requests. The White House announcement this afternoon came on the day Perry underwent minor back surgery.

The federal disaster declaration covered 45 counties, primarily in West Texas. The White House announcement said the new aid is designed “to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area struck by wildfires during the period of April 6 to May 3, 2011.”

Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Sen. John Cornyn and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison all released late-Friday statements supporting the president’s declaration. Perry, in his statement, was quick to point out that he thought the federal support, while good for Texas, was late.

“This partial approval only applies to fires fought between April 6 and May 3, 2011, covering just a fraction of the fires fought in Texas so far this season,” the statement read. “On April 15, Gov. Perry sent a letter to President Obama requesting a Major Disaster Declaration for the State of Texas…the governor’s request was denied on May 3. Gov. Perry appealed the president’s decision on May 26.”

In his joint statement with Sen. Hutchison, Sen. Cornyn struck a tone similar to the governor’s.

“I am glad the President finally answered the repeated calls of officials in Texas,” Cornyn said in the statement. “I’m disappointed that he took so long to issue this declaration for the first responders, farmers, ranchers and landowners in Texas who suffered through the loss of hundreds of structures and thousands of wildfires.”

  39. Tim, careless, i dont think so, this was probably ordered from higher up, its amazing how many and how quick cops were on this and the DA’s office suddenly find info now 2 months later. This was definitely a big old political play.

  40. Gov. Pat Quinn wants to cancel raises for thousands of state employees to help cope with the Illinois budget crisis, a move denounced Friday as “illegal and irresponsible” by a key union.

    ………………………….

Watch him get the leadboots treatment if he does.

  41. this was probably ordered from higher up, its amazing how many and how quick cops were on this and the DA’s office suddenly find info now 2 months later. This was definitely a big old political play.

    =================

DSK might still be guilty, the maid might still be innocent. But the cops’ behavior was definitely suspicious! Remember the lineup photo? DSK was the odd one out in several ways, I posted about it here. And it’s suspicious that they were so quick to viciously go after a high profile accused man on the word of a low status person who could not communicate clearly. Maybe they are generally unfair in the other direction, but really, cops don’t treat high status people like this unless they have powerful enemies.

Geithner came out pressuring DSK to resign, which is suspicious too.

There’s been some detail about this at Crawdad Hole, mostly taking the maid’s side. I’m having login trouble over there, haven’t been there this morning.

  42. moon, the difference would seem to be, to me, that Walker followed process, and the duly elected legislature actually passed new law regarding what he wanted to do vis a vis the state unions. On the other hand, it appears that Quinn is just unilaterally breaking union contracts by Executive fiat. As much as I believe state unions need to be reined in, I am not in favor of doing it illegally.

But hey, this is the new Amerika, and Obama is setting a fine example for the likes of Quinn:

Old and Busted: Representative govt. going through the legislative process to change laws to achieve ends the public wants.
New and Trendy: Fuck the law and the legislature, just make an end run around them and do what you want.

  43. One caveat: I don’t know enough about Illinois union contracts to say for certain whether the Gov has the power written into that contract to cancel raises at will. He might. But I seriously doubt it.

…someone is sure to come up with a blog for the ‘presidential seal’…”get me to a qualified president…I am outa here”

  45. @ tim – Yup. As vehemently as I opposed the Iraq war, Bush did get congressional approval. He also didn’t call up the press every time they insulted him and whine about it and try to suppress the press.

The man, despite my abhorrence of much that he did, actually had more dignity and respect for our institutions than the boob does. There is no power grab that Bush did (and he did many) that Obama has not continued, and even expanded upon.

It is shocking to say that Obama is much worse than Bush, but he flat out is.

  46. Why does waffles keep visiting Pittsburgh? Have a friend who found out yesterday she has to reschedule her vacation because the little man is making a visit in August and they need all hands on deck. She’s a clerk at CMU and I guess because its summer they are under staffed. I just don’t see why he keeps coming here over and over again. Do not recall any president making so many trips here. Why would they. Solid dems. No need to woo.

  47. http://www.state.gov/secretary/rm/2011/06/167432.htm

So let us work together, day by day, to make sure that when we meet again 10 years from now, we will be able to look back on progress, not only continuing progress in my country, which someday, perhaps, will match Finland and Lithuania with having a woman president – (laughter) – but in every country everywhere – (applause). And particularly, let those of us who enjoy the benefits of freedom, for whom legal restrictions and barriers have been broken down, and what remains are more internal, more psychological – let us be sure that we keep opening doors for those elsewhere. We cannot take any solace in our own freedoms when women elsewhere are denied those same rights.

  48. “Solid dems. No need to woo.”

I used to have a business collegue in that area before they moved. It has a lot of “Bitter Clinging” white blue collar salt-of-the-earth type hard working people there, they voted for Hillay, Bill, Reagan. If they were fooled into voting for Waffles in 2008, apparently Axelhole thinks they might be swayed away. These are blue collar dems, the same as in WV, they were Clinton dems, but many of them were Reagan dems as well.

  49. Don’t know how small businesses survive in CA, not the techie cos, those are isolated and in a bubble in San Jose and Palo Alto. But people would have to be insane to move there to CA to start a business, it is absolutely so cumbersome, no wonder Carl’s Jr completely left the state and went to TX.

  50. The credibility of the Guinean hotel maid at the centre of the allegations was shattered by the revelation that she lied to the grand jury.

According to the alleged victim’s initial story, she immediately fled Strauss-Kahn’s luxury hotel suite after the attack and waited in the hallway before informing a supervisor.

‘The complainant has since admitted that this account was false and that after the incident in Suite 2806, she proceeded to clean a nearby room and then returned to Suite 2806 and began to clean that suite before she reported the incident to her supervisor,’ prosecutors said in court filings.

Her lawyer admitted his client had made ‘some mistakes’, but denied she was a ‘lie’ and insisted substantial forensic evidence would prove Strauss-Kahn violently assaulted her.

    ………………………………………….

You don’t wait, go clean another room and then go back and clean the room where you were supposedly raped again before calling someone. Sorry you just don’t, you’d be running out the building screaming. This woman is not telling the truth if that occurred and if the prosecution has said that, what the hell are they basing a case on?

  51. tim
It has been decades since Pittsburgh was a blue collar town. The largest employer in Allegheney County(Pittsburgh- for the most part) is UPMC– University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and they pay nada in taxes as they are “non-profit”. Lots of tech jobs and not sure about the numbers but I believe the region has the most call centers in the US of A. Steel town was many years ago now its more like nursing. I was a kid when my mother became a nurse and as I had had several open heart surguries I was show and tell material. Back then(early eighties) 99.99% female today it is about 50/50. 18 months for an lpn, 24 for an rn. Decent starting wages.

Again, wow. This sounds very odd, I agree with moon, she would be outside screaming, not going to another room, cleaning that, and then going to her supervisor to report. This is all so odd, very strange. I was thinking she was the victim here when I first heard about all of this, but now, I do not know, she sounds more and more like a liar and an opportunist.

  54. I wonder how the Sofital hotel is faring in all this, luxury hotels like this pride themselves on having very good staff, etc, and now all this comes about the maid.

  55. Rove gives BO a “Thumbs Down” in spite of the fact Republicans have not produced a viable candidate people will vote for a the better choice. If BO does lose, it will be a ABBO win.

Not a sure thing if BO can manipulate the Voting Machines.. imo

Rove: Obama Will Likely Lose in 2012

    Thursday, 23 Jun 2011 09:40 AM

    By Henry J. Reske

President Barack Obama will likely be defeated in 2012 because of a weak economy, lost support from key constituents, unpopular policies and bad strategic decisions, Karl Rove, former senior adviser and deputy chief of staff to President George W. Bush, argues in an Op-Ed in The Wall Street Journal.

Rove notes that unemployment now stands at 9.1 percent with many of the 14 million Americans out of work for more than six months. A recent Bloomberg poll showed Americans believe they are worse off than when Mr. Obama took office by a 44% to 34% margin and the last president reelected with unemployment over 7.2 percent was FDR in 1936.

Obama’s relationship with his base is also troubled. Jewish voters are upset with his policy toward Israel, and “left-wing bloggers at last week’s NetRoots conference were angry over Mr. Obama’s failure to deliver a leftist utopia.”

His job approval rating is down and his support amongst younger voters has dropped 22 percent and among Latinos 20 percent. “Even African-American voters are less excited about Mr. Obama than they were—and than he needs them to be. For example, if their share of the turnout drops just one point in North Carolina, Mr. Obama’s 2008 winning margin there is wiped out two and a half times over,” Rove wrote.

Obama’s policies are also a drag, Rove wrote, noting that “his health-care reform still holds its unique place as the only major piece of social legislation that became less popular after it was passed. According to yesterday’s Pollster.com average of recent surveys, 38% approve of ObamaCare, while its survey average when the bill was passed in March 2010 showed that 41% approved.“

Obama is also making a strategic blunder of actively attacking “potential GOP opponents and (slandering) Republican proposals with abandon. This is not what the public is looking for from the former apostle of hope and change.”

“In politics, 17 months can constitute several geological ages. Political fortunes can wax and wane. And weak incumbents can defeat even weaker challengers,” Rove concluded.

“At the same time, objective circumstances like an anemic economy and bad decisions not only matter; they become very nearly dis-positive. Mr. Obama is now at the mercy of policies and events he has set in motion. He can’t escape accountability, especially on the economy. He’s not done yet, but it will be tough to recover.”

  56. I have no idea whether this woman is a scammer or not. Maybe she is. But there seems to be more than enough evidence to LET HER HAVE HER DAMN DAY IN COURT. Instead we have a media pile-on (and we all know how accurate they are once they get in a feeding frenzy), trying the case for us.

The “info” about her being a prostitute was an anonymous source on the guy’s defense team, fer chrissakes!! I find it very strange that the police thought there was a case, and now all of a sudden all this crap is flying around in the media all from unnamed sources – trying to make sure that the case is given ample cover to be dropped. That’s fishy.

  57. I have worked in Hilton and Starwood properties as a bartender– been ten years– but I have sat through the required awareness classes that every employee must endure. Policy was if you were cleaning a room and a guest was there you had to have a second person present or you came back later. The policy protects the hotel as well as the employee. I found it puzzling that at such a high end establishment they didn’t have the rudimentary controls in place.

  58. henry, there is fishiness on both sides here. I don’t know if he raped her or not. But I do think she ought to get her day in court.

  59. I find it very strange that the police thought there was a case, and now all of a sudden all this crap is flying around in the media all from unnamed sources – trying to make sure that the case is given ample cover to be dropped. That’s fishy.

    ====================

The police and media timing is fishy either way you look at it. The police only back off and the stories against the maid (many allegedly from her own neighbors etc) only come out AFTER Geithner called for Strauss to resigh and AFTER Strauss has been replaced.

It’s like the ‘case’ served its purpose — destroying Strauss’s career — so now the police are quitting while they’re ahead. Before it could come to trial and Strauss get HIS day in court, to perhaps be officially cleared. And to perhaps shine light on just why the police went with such a flimsy case to begin with.

(I’m not saying that S is innocent or that the maid is guilty of anything. Just that all the evidence we’ve seen comes from the police or their associates, so it can’t be relied on. See my link to the police lineup above.)

  60. HforT
I agree. Just don’t get how he was ever permitted in a room with her alone to begin with. Especially a luxury suite as if one person could clean that. No way no how not how it works. Evan as a bartender if there was only one guest near closing time I had to get someone from security to just sit there. Billion dollar companies not going to play around with he said she said noise. I don’t know the specifics but I think this stinks from top to bottom. She could be the biggest victim in the whole spiel. Sordid history easy to use and manipulate. I can only tell you one thing maids do not clean alone if there is a guest in the room. Does not happen.

  61. Whether she was raped or not, I want it to go to trial. Because the whole thing is fishy either way, and a trial might get to the bottom of it.

  62. We thought Obama the dick was the biggest loudmouth. We didn’t count on a singing penis.

    http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/868086-noisy-penis-that-sings-makes-water-boatman-world-s-loudest-animal

A team of biologists and engineers told the Society for Experimental Biology Annual Conference in Glasgow that they had found the 2mm long insect is capable of making a din measuring 99.2 decibels – the same level as a full orchestra playing at its loudest.

That makes the bug, or Micronecta scholtzi, the noisiest animal on the planet relative to its body size,.

The male water boatman generates the sound by rubbing its penis against its abdomen while underwater, as it attempts to attract mates.

Although 99 per cent of the noise is lost as it is transferred from the bottom of the river to the surface, the singing is still loud enough for humans walking on the banks to hear.

  63. I may have been wrong about the police lineup. Some people at Crawdad think that was not a lineup photo at all.

  64. Now that the self described “I am the President” is alone in his assumption. He must realize it will be all downhill for him, if he thinks he is going to be re-elected. No? 🙂

The Community Organizer Who Would be King

    (ht/American Thinker)

    By Clarice Feldman

I really have to stop reading MayBee’s sarcastic comments just before bedtime. She was making fun of Michelle Obama’s teleprompter speech to some lady donors:

It’s also pretty funny to picture them, actually sitting on a sofa in the WH residence, her in a designer dress with her Jimmy Choos kicked off in the corner, him with his WH brewed honey ale, reading the 10 letters for the day and saying, “Michelle, it just isn’t right, what people are going through.” “Why, what do you mean Barack?” “We have to fix it. I am tired, but I can’t rest until this is fixed!”

The next thing I knew I couldn’t get the image of Kipling’s The Man Who Would be King out of my head. You might remember it. It’s the story of two men who travel to a place called “Kafiristan” (actually Afghanistan) where they offer themselves up as military advisers and trainers to the locals.

After helping them defeat their most hated enemy, one of the men (Danny) is treated as a god, a reincarnation of Sikander (Alexander the Great) by monks who mistake his Masonic Jewel for one worn by Alexander when he passed through the land centuries earlier. He’s treated to treasures which once belonged to Alexander.

Then, he loses touch with reality and develops delusions of grandeur. By chance his intended bride, fearful of being wed to a god, punctures the myth by biting him and making him bleed. Since gods don’t bleed, the Kafiristan denizens realize he is human and, angry at being misled, kill him.

I think we’ve reached a similar turning point in this presidency where (a) Obama’s (and Michelle’s) delusions of grandeur have become objects of ridicule; b) Obama’s feet of clay are obvious. He may be the only person left in Washington who has not yet realized how inadequate he is to the tasks before him; (c) the people and the press are beginning to turn on him, and as his failures become even more obvious with each passing day, more people will feel free to attack him and his policies and their attacks will become ever more savage as the gap between the promise and reality grow ever more stark.

Obama entered office on a groundswell of a disconcerting mania, a mania in which voters imagined on this blank slate of a candidate all sorts of truly fantastic abilities and policies, none of which were warranted in his paltry, truly shabby history.

The man with no available school records, for example, was painted as a genius and his brief time as a University of Chicago adjunct (basically teaching assistant) puffed up to a professorship in constitutional law. The guy who cannot speak a logical, coherent, grammatical sentence on his own was pawned off as a literary genius to unsuspecting, foolish voters. It was inevitable that the reality of his time in office could never match the dream. It was unfortunately equally inevitable that he would prove inadequate to the difficult job of the presidency.

Still, which of those who voted for him could have envisioned the hash he’s made of things in every respect? Unemployment far exceeds what he warned it would reach if we didn’t pass his stimulus package; the housing market shows no sign of lift off; the dollar sinks more each day; manufacturing is at a virtual standstill, and Americans grow more pessimistic about the economy each day. The landmark legislation of his first (and I hope final) term, ObamaCare, is so badly conceived and drafted that Americans are likely to see the best medical service in the world destroyed unless it is soon repealed or ruled unconstitutional. In the meantime, as uncertainty about its future grows, more and more businesses are paralyzed and unable to plan for their futures.

Internationally, we keep alienating our allies and boosting our enemies. Like the Duke of York* in the nursery school rhyme, he had “10,000 men marched them up the hill and then marched them down again.” He ordered a surge in Afghanistan, the place he argued in 2008 we really should be instead of Iraq, and then order pulling them out before the job is done, and in a manner sure to increase the danger to them. Without Congressional authorization, he’s committed our troops and weaponry to a rather pointless fight in Libya; pushed Mubarak out of office in favor of heaven knows what successors; failed to do a thing to prevent Iran from going nuclear; done nothing to stop Syria’s Assad from daily slaughtering his own people; and each and every day puts the life and welfare of our staunch ally Israel at risk.

This week’s press conference revealed him as a man desperately clinging to the same rhetorical devices that have long worn thin: demagogic false choices, class warfare and a preposterous description of himself as the reasonable adult in the legislative process.

Fill in the blanks here, for this is the same speech we have been hearing for his entire term:

Republican leaders need to ask their constituents if they are willing to sacrifice the [ health, safety, welfare, future ]of their children for [you name it].

    As William Jacobson writes:

This was typical throughout the press conference. He’s the only reasonable one, the only one who cares about people, the only one trying hard to reach a “balanced” debt deal, and so on and so on, the facts be damned. Of course, if it seems to some that he’s been detached, it’s only because he’s been so busy working on the Taliban, and bin Laden, and the Greece crisis.

He had the audacity to say with a straight face that his administration is trying to remove burdensome regulations, when in fact Obamacare and Dodd-Frank alone impose vast regulations (most of which have not been written yet, which freezes business investment) on virtually every area of the economy.

Not only does he not get it, he is ideologically incapable of getting it. He views the economy as a zero sum game, a point I have made before.

This reminds me of the failed luxury tax on yachts years ago, which devastated the shipbuilding industry in Rhode Island, leading to substantial layoffs; the choice was not between yacht owners and children, but between job creating industries or not.

The thumbs down on the address was rather universal, from National Review’s Yuval Levin to Time’s editor Mark Halperin.

It all had the feel of a childish tantrum by a person who desperately wishes he were living in a different reality – one in which he is the heroic man of action and his opponents are irresponsible and weak. But the fact is, the president and congressional Democrats have so far utterly failed to offer any path out of our fiscal problems – problems that they have greatly exacerbated. The president proposed a budget in February that would have increased the deficit, and then he retracted it in April and proposed nothing in particular in its place. Senate Democrats have not proposed a budget in two years; they now suggest they finally have one, though apparently it won’t really be brought to a vote. Republicans, meanwhile, have proposed a specific path out of our fiscal mess – averting a debt crisis and setting the budget on a course toward balance through discretionary cuts, budget-process reforms, and gradual but significant entitlement reforms. Rather than negotiate over that budget, the president has chosen to play the demagogue, simultaneously insisting that the budget offers nothing and that it goes too far in cutting government services (medical research, food inspectors, and the weather service are apparently in particular danger, he said yesterday, providing a kind of Salvador Dali map of postmodern lifestyle liberalism).

Halperin was more succinct. Wanting his Morning Joe hosts to hear his honest assessment but hoping it would be bleeped out to lesser mortals, he indicated he thought the president sounded like a “dick.”

I am starting to feel more and more optimistic that voters are catching on. Drudge’s post speech headers signal that Obama’s days as a not to be questioned or criticized or laughed at god are over and his days as president numbered:

POLL: Obama 42%, any Republican 46%…

  65. Someone has got to get a look in BO’s medicine chest and list the drugs he’s taking… The MJ he’s smoking is a given… He is on some compounded calming stuff.

FLASHBACK: AP: Stimulus includes tax break to promote private jet sales.

    June 29, 2011

During President Obama’s press conference today, he scolded Republicans for demanding tax cuts for corporate jets.

From the Associated Press in 2009:

Just a few months after lawmakers scolded auto executives for flying to Washington in private jets, Congress approved a tax break in the stimulus package to help businesses buy their own planes.

The incentive — first used to help plane makers recover from the 2001 terror attacks — sharply reduces the up front tax bill for companies who buy assets like business planes.

  66. The friendly, long-suffering Dutch have decided to say “screw you” to those who would take their tolerance and welcoming attitude as an invitation to destroy the Dutch culture.

The land of windmills and tulips grew a pair in June and officially tabled legislation that effectively says to the Religion of Peace, “We are tired of bowing and kissing your Holland-hating-religious-freak ring. So, with all due respect, please assimilate to our particulars or we will shove a wooden shoe up your backside and deport you back to Suckistan.” No offense, of course

    ——

To be specific, here is what’s going down from Ede to Amsterdam legislatively:

    – The Dutch government is saying geen meer to multiculturalism, because it has paved the way for the most amazing belief system ever to spawn parallel enclaves that hate the Dutch. Oops.

    – On June 16th Dutch Minister of the Interior Piet Hein Donner tabled to parliament the official doc that states that both the government and the people are overwhelmingly sick and tired of the relativistic slop and are gonna shift gears and laud Dutch culture from here on out, and if any immigrant doesn’t like it they can kiss their chocolate sprinkles.

    – In addition, the Dutch are not only refusing to play the nice game with zealots who loathe them but are also demanding obligatory integration to their norms, or you can say tot ziens to their windmills.

    – All immigrants will be required to learn Dutch, and the Dutch authorities will not be lax with those who blow off Dutch ways and laws—which entails no more funky, full-face headgear for a certain awesome religion’s ladies, as well as no recognition of said special religion’s courts or laws.

    Obama’s Final Solution

President Barack Obama is the most dogmatic and dangerous leftist we have ever seen in this country. He is not hard to understand. Obama is very simple. All his ideas were frozen in concrete a hundred years ago by Marxist-Leninism around 1920. In Dreams from My Father, Obama celebrates third-world Socialism, but that’s just Marxist-Leninism with a racial overlay. Obama’s ideas are all old and discredited. They have failed from the Soviets to Cambodia. North Korea is facing another mass famine today, so terrible that it can’t even feed its own army. That is yet another failure of Marxist-Leninism. Over and over and over again. For radicals it doesn’t matter. You have to break a lot of eggs to make that omelet.

Just as Jimmy Carter kicked over the Shah, a crucial pillar of support for American and Israeli security thirty years ago, Obama has just done with Egypt. By forcing Mubarak to resign, Obama has sabotaged the Egypt-Israel peace treaty of the last 30 years.

Turkey has also radicalized, and nobody in the American media seems to be taking notice. They must know the facts, but they are not telling us.

The United States is standing by or actively sabotaging the moderate Arab states while Turkey and Egypt fall into the “Death to Israel!” camp. Those are the three biggest states, with three of the most modern armies in the Muslim world. It means that some 200 million people from moderate or friendly states have joined the rejectionist camp, and that Obama has actually reversed the progress toward peace made in 30 years.

It is significant that Jimmy Carter hasn’t said a word about the breakdown of a treaty he “negotiated” (or rather, Anwar Sadat and Menahim Begin did), which is the only foreign policy success of his presidency. Jimmy Carter being who he is, his silence speaks volumes. Carter is now a Hamas and Hezb’allah supporter. The only formal peace treaty of the last 30 years will be a dead letter if the Muslim Brotherhood takes over Egypt.

The window of opportunity for attacking Iran’s fast-moving nuclear and missile development has now closed. This is equivalent to the Allies in World War II allowing Hitler to develop nuclear weapons and long-range missiles. In the field of nuclear proliferation, if you don’t preempt, you are enabling proliferation. Obama has now reversed sixty years of American and Western efforts to reverse rogue nuclear proliferation. The horse of Armageddon is out of the barn.

Read that sentence again if you didn’t quite get it the first time, because it’s the biggest, wildest gamble an American president has ever taken.

It is a world catastrophe, and as far as I can tell, it has been done with malice aforethought.

At the same time, Obama has demanded, in public, that Israel give up defensible borders. The so-called “1967 borders” are in fact the ceasefire lines of the 1948 War of Independence, which left Israel nine miles wide at the waist. Obama has therefore actively legitimized sixty years of radical Islamist assaults designed to destroy Israel.

SoCal looks at seceding from California and forming a new, more business friendly state.

    ————
It’ll never happen Tony. What this threat comes down to is really lowering the air quality standards so business can pump more toxic crap into the air. I know this because I worked for a company that moved from southern Cal to Texas for this very reason. This is a very well know company, all over the world.

I do agree that the cutting off of the water to protect little fishies was bs and needs to be reversed. Cutting farms off from water was pure stupidity.

Big business needs to invest in toxic fume removal, not in moving away to TX and making their air quality toxic.

BTW, that area has the largest growth of illegals from the south and those folks are willing to work for low wages and worry about cancer later.

  69. Barack Herbert Hoover Obama

    From [Obama’s] today’s radio address:

Government has to start living within its means, just like families do. We have to cut the spending we can’t afford so we can put the economy on sounder footing, and give our businesses the confidence they need to grow and create jobs.
Yep, the false government-family equivalence, the myth of expansionary austerity, and the confidence fairy, all in just two sentences.

Read this and this to see why he’s wrong. This is truly a tragedy: the great progressive hope (well, I did warn people) is falling all over himself to endorse right-wing economic fallacies.

    http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/07/02/barack-herbert-hoover-obama/

  70. turndown, it is not crazy. There are very real problems being experienced by countries with tons of immigration from Muslim countries – not because they are Muslim per se, but because a significant number of them absolutely refuse to assimilate in any way, and are very open about their intent to entirely take over the culture to which they are immigrating in a very militant fashion. They do not hide it. They say it openly, and have been for some time.

And the reason why this has been allowed to continue is because the Dutch lived in cowering fear of being called bigots if they did not consent to the dismantling of their culture, societal norms, and legal system. They finally have had enough, and good for them.

The Dutch did not say: “No Muslims allowed.” Immigrants are still welcome. What they said was that you will learn our language, not attempt to aggressively impose YOUR culture and religion upon the society that has so graciously accepted you, and not expect to set up a mini-oppressive Islamic State within our country, complete with separate sharia law in our courts, sharia financing in our banks, a culture of acceptance for oppressing women and girls, etc. WHY do you think the Dutch, with their longstanding history of being gracious and accepting and non-bigoted, felt pushed to this point? Did the historically tolerant and accepting Dutch just pull all of this out of their ass for no reason at all? Because they just had some inexplicable fit of xenophobia? Or will you perhaps concede that there were very serious problems being caused by a significant number (though not all) of immigrants from Islamic countries who were REFUSING to have any respect whatsoever for the culture and norms of the country to which they had willingly immigrated? Will you even admit that the problem exists?

If, as you always maintain, the vast majority of Muslims just want to quietly live their lives and not impose anything on anyone, then these new laws will not affect them in the slightest. So tell me, specifically, what is wrong with the laws the Netherlands just passed?

  71. h4t,

This isn’t up to your usual standard. The article, and to some extent your post about it, are full of emotional trigger words and wild claims.

Can you find anyone who can write soberly and credibly, with readable fact, who holds those opinions?

Btw a litmus test: do your current sources admit that the muslim birth rate is DECLINING, or do they claim the muslims are trying to out-breed us?

  72. HillaryforTexas
    July 3rd, 2011 at 12:58 pm

Nicely said and outlined, and I am glad the Dutch finally did this.

  73. I hold those opinions, and I wrote very soberly and credibly above, IMO.

How about the words of a Dutch legislator, a Somali woman who was mutilated as a child and knows radical Muslim culture from the inside: She speaks of what has been happening inside her country.

So fathers forbid their daughters to go to school, they forbid them to have friends. They forbid them to mix with the native Dutch people. After a certain age they are forced into marriage or they are persuaded into a marriage and when society discusses this then the left would always say, “It is their culture, we are supposed to respect it.” But what you see, these are human rights abuses.

Or how about the fact that ALL the violent rapes in Norway (who is having the same problems) in 2010 were perpetrated by Muslim men?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=K_rHFKRwv5Y

Or maybe the Dutch are rightly pissed that the one filmmaker who had the balls to speak up about the abuse of Muslim women ended up with his throat slit on the public street.

Yes, the guy was snarky. I’m not necessarily endorsing every word he said and the manner in which he said it- though I have no issue with some degree of mockery for what is (in some of its forms) basically a militant political movement rather than merely a religion. NONE of us posit complete and total agreement with every word when we post a pertinent article. That’s not the assumed standard for anything we post here, so this issue should not be an exception.

And I have no idea what that particular guy thinks about the Muslim birth rate, but it’s not relevant to whether the problems in the Netherlands DO in reality exist, and whether the steps they have taken are warranted.

I have answered your questions. Now please attempt to answer mine. ARE these immigrants from Islamic sates causing a genuine problem, or not?

  74. Or how about the fact that ALL the violent rapes in Norway (who is having the same problems) in 2010 were perpetrated by Muslim men?

IE, “The only men convicted of Crime X in Country Y belonged to Group Z.” Try using that logic to generalize about Blacks or, really, any other minority — rather than about prejudice leading to a disproportionate conviction rate.

ended up with his throat slit on the public street.

Most streets are public. More to the point, was anyone convicted? Was there even evidence that a Muslim did it? The emotional innuendo without the fact is suspicious.

the words of a Dutch legislator, a Somali woman

The quote you give does not support the claim that the Muslims are trying to make changes to the Dutch culture.

You’re still not supporting the allegation that the Dutch Muslims want to change Dutch culture — or even the claim that the new Dutch laws really relate to that allegation.

Personally, I’d kind of like to be able to go to the US Post Office and talk to the clerk without a language barrier. Thus I might support a law requiring better English for citizenship. But I don’t accuse all those Far East Asians of trying to change US culture.

Your own posting style is usually much more civilized; this one really wasn’t up to your usual standard.

  75. Enough to make you gag…

Obama Forming an ‘I Really Love Israel’ PR Squad To Try and Rescue Jewish Vote

    by Jeff Dunetz

Perhaps in response to the Politico report earlier this week, it appears that some low-level Jewish players have decided to seal their place in the progressive movement rather than act for the best interests of both the United States and its valuable Mid-East ally, Israel. According to the WAPO’s Greg Sargent, the Obama campaign is planning to send out surrogates to go on the offensive against pro-Israel groups critical of the president’s Israel policy.

“We will have highly credible spokespeople and surrogates speak out in a general manner in support of what this administration has done, and articulate it in a way that we think will resonate with voters who care about this issue,” former Conference of Presidents leader Alan Solow told Sargent. “We will meet with supporters who have expressed concerns or want to be briefed on these issues on a one-on-one basis.”

Just like any predator, the Obama Jew-squad has picked off a bunch of “never weres” and “used to bes” to try and convince Jews that the truth that he is the most anti-Israel President in history, is simply not true.

According to the article, the Jew-squad will include Jewish Obama fundraisers, including Solow, former U.S. Reps. Mel Levine and Robert Wexler, and businesswoman Penny Pritzker, (who’s position on Israel can be described as slightly more negative than Louis Farrakhan).

This group of house-Jews will work hard to convince that Obama is really pro-Israel, but short of Bobby Ewing stepping out of the shower and claiming the last two years were just a bad dream, or simply lying, I am at a loss at how these how these modern day Kapos-in training, will be able to convince people of the President is really a buddy of the Jewish State.

What they don’t understand is that it isn’t just the conservatives, and it’s not just Obama’s recent actions, it’s the cumulative effect of all of the times Obama has thrown Israel and its leaders under the bus since he was elected President. The reelection committee also forgets that liberal Jews are reading liberal media, who have gone out of their way to protect this president, and yet the liberal Jews still believe Obama is anti-Israel.

Axelrod says both points are untrue, so I guess the Bobby Ewing strategy is out.

But this point is very true, the fact that this is becoming a key effort of the Obama administration is more proof that the reelection campaign is either losing Jewish money or internal polls are beginning to show that many Jews are considering either voting GOP or at the very least not voting for President in 2012.

Axelrod’s choices for this “But Guys I Really Truly, Cross My Heart Hope to Die, Love Israel“ PR hit squad shows he is very out of touch with the pro-Israel community, or all the “good people” refused. Either way, its an indication that the rumors are true, the reelection committee is getting a bit nervous about losing the Jewish vote in 2012.

  76. And another thing: I am so beyond the point of caring whether anyone thinks I’m a bigot that it’s laughable. I know I’m not, and that’s all that really matters to me. Otherwise, I could give a flying shit if someone else tries to shut me down with that card.

If we lived in a world where there existed in realitymultiple Christian States who ruled with an iron fist and regularly slaughtered women and gay people, I would speak out. If we lived in a world where dozens of high-status priests and pastors gave speeches calling for that same iron fisted state to be implemented by the faithful WORLDWIDE, and to be done via whatever means necessary, and were roundly cheered by quite literally millions, I would speak out. If things akin to the bloody Inquisition were taking place in the here and now, I would speak out. I would be screaming bloody murder that this was DANGEROUS, and women in particular needed to wake the fuck up. That this was a political movement, an entity bent on world domination, and an incredibly dangerous one at that.

And if someone were to tell me, in the midst of my speaking out, that I had to leave off all mention of the perpetrators’ and plotters’ religion, and to shackle my speech by somehow attempting to discuss these dangers with no reference whatsoever to the theology and religion that was driving the horrors, I would tell them to go fucking pound sand, that they were crazy.

  77. turndown, you evidently don’t follow the news. That filmmaker was murdered by Mohammed Bouyeri, a Dutch-Moroccan Muslim.

from WIKI: “He claims to have assassinated van Gogh to fulfill his duty as a Muslim. Serving as witness in another court case involving the Hofstad group in May 2007, Bouyeri for the time expressed in more depth his thoughts regarding Islam. Here he said that armed jihad was the only option of Muslims in the Netherlands and that democracy was always a violation of Islam because laws cannot be produced by humans but only by Allah.”

You still have not answered my question as to whether the large influx of people from Islamic countries has been causing real problems in the Netherlands.

But I don’t accuse all those Far East Asians of trying to change US culture.

LOL! Maybe because they AREN’T? There are not large groups of Far East Asians preaching that US Culture and it’s entire political underpinnings are decadent and immoral and need to be eradicated.

  78. Oh, and turndown? I don’t know if you yourself are Muslim, but if you are, then you might want to consider being the most relentless, the most adamantly loud and angry voice speaking out against this shit that is a growing and expanding blight on your religion . You might try that, rather than being mostly silent, then nitpicking every statement of those who ARE outraged to find some small inaccuracy or some straying into hyperbole that therefore discredits that outrage as “bigoted”.

  79. Fuck all Muslims that keep their women in bondage and dummy them down with their stupid male-loving laws.

Any Muslin that oppresses women is my enemy and I hope they stay the Hell out of America!

  80. “It’s not the majority of Muslims”

Yeah, and less than 2% of southerners ever owned a slave. But the driving and most politically powerful force of that culture were the slaveowners. And the other 98% didn’t put a stop to it, now did they?

  81. http://www.markedmanner.com/2011/07/dubai-quarter-of-all-divorces-done-via.html

Have you all seen this? I’ve never heard of this.

“Dubai recorded 555 divorce cases among its Muslim population in 2010 and 150 of them were done by e-mail of mobile phone text messages.

While some experts consider a divorce through such means is legal, others believe it is not legitimate or final under Islamic law on the grounds spouses could fake such a divorce for some reasons.

Under Islamic law, a Muslim man can divorce his wife by just saying “your are divorced” three times but a woman cannot do the same.

“Dubai had 555 divorce cases in 2010, including 150 divorces through electronic means such as mobile phone texts,” the Arabic language daily ‘Emarat Al Youm’ said, citing figures by the Dubai family consultative council.”

This shariah nonsense better not come to America or even make a foothold here, no way in hell do I want my nieces living under this women-hating crap!

  82. from WIKI: “He claims to have assassinated van Gogh to fulfill his duty as a Muslim.

That would have been worth mentioning, rather than the emotionalistic “on the public street.” (I’m not verifying the Wiki article; I’m trusting that he was actually convicted of this.)

Me: “But I don’t accuse all those Far East Asians of trying to change US culture.”
The point is, that just because a country requires language skills from immigrants, does not mean that the motive for the requirement is to stop those immigrants from ‘changing the culture.’ Some of the new Dutch laws may have reasonable motives, and may not be an endorsement of paranoid views.

You have not given (and scarcely attempted) ANY sound support for your recent claims. The long article excerpt didn’t ‘stray’ into hyperbole, it was almost ALL emotional button-pushing.

    Please calm down.

  83. Yup, calling someone bigot is just another way of calling them racist- especially, if they are far from that-

  84. turndown – as far as the reasons the Dutch passed those laws – google is your friend. I have neither the time nor the inclination to educate you on the entire history of the immigration debate that has been going on for months and months in the Netherlands and other European countries. The film producer was not the only murder.

And actually, I don’t believe for one instant that you don’t know much about the topic, any more than you didn’t know that the killing of that film producer was an Islam-inspired crime perpetrated by a Muslim man in the name of Allah.

I think you play dumb on purpose, and I’m not playing that game with you.

    Kudos of a valiant effort.

Personally, I HATE the Mulim Religion and any who subscribe to its barbaric tenets.
    OTOH:

LC writes the ripping off of the presidential seal from BO’s limo in Philly was an omen.

“There are many signs in this to discern, as the Seal was ripped from the car and thrown into traffic going the opposite direction. That alone states that the American People are going to direct opposite of Marxist Obama and have left him.

The Seal though was not damaged by the Americans in that traffic. That means they will not damage the Presidency.

The Seal was feared lost for a time, but the Seal meaning America and American Leadership was recovered again from the American People going the opposite direction of Obama.

Every one of these omens and signs have foretold exact events about Obama, and each of them have manifested true.

I still believe the unseen hand of God will rip the Presidency from Barack Obama just as this Seal was a sign of the Spirits of 76 are repulsed to the extent of ripping the Presidential Seal from this usurper.

To go into Philadelphia before the 4th and have forces there rip the Presidential Seal from your personal limo as you speed on ahead………….it tells of the matrix revulsion of Obama being installed in the White House and it foretells of events which will come.”

  88. LOL @ Mrs. Smith – I know, and I’m done with the topic for now. I’ve said what I needed to say, and won’t wander into the pointless weeds.

  89. as far as the reasons the Dutch passed those laws – google is your friend.

    =============

You posted the claim, so it’s up to you to support it. With something more sane and less manipulative than that townhall op-ed, and the faulty statements in your following posts.

Or, alternatively, to drop the subject. Not to double down with vaguer claims in hotter words.

Look, you’re better than this. Time out?

  90. BASIL, that seal thing has me cracking up every time I think of it. I keep seeing an old 60’s cartoon version of it struggling to get away ….. “Heeeeelppppp!!!”

  91. “On Oct. 5, 2010, as the president was addressing Fortune magazine’s 2010 Most Powerful Women Summit at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C., his speech was interrupted when the seal on the front of the lectern clattered to the floor.”

And one month later on November 2010, the Waffles President lost a huge amount of seats in the House, and some in the Senate and a whole lotta governorships.

  92. I read that story too about the seal falling off the Presidential Limo- It had to be something akin to supernatural forces causing the seal to dislodge itself from the side of the Limo because the SEAL is magnetic-

And don’t forget, just recently in England. As Obama’s Limo was entering through the gates of Buckingham Palace, the car stranded itself on a metal mechanism that holds the gates in place when they are closed. The presidential limousine looked like a beached whale stranded on an asphalt sandbar.

  93. I have to admit, I did not see this strategery from the Chinease, they are deliberately buying more treasuries, hiding it from us, and they using it as the base to bail out Europe.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/06/30/us-usa-china-treasuries-idUSTRE75T2MI20110630?

“Using a method of purchases known as “guaranteed bidding,” China was forging gentleman’s agreements with primary dealers to purchase a certain amount of Treasury securities on offer at an auction without being reported as bidders in that auction, according to the people interviewed. After setting the amount of Treasuries the guaranteed bidder wanted to buy, the dealer would then buy that amount in the auction, technically on its own behalf.

The practice kept the true size of China’s holdings hidden from U.S. view, according to Treasury dealers interviewed, and may have allowed China at times to buy controlling stakes – more than 35 percent – in some of the securities the Treasury issued.

The Treasury department, too, came to believe that China was breaching the 35 percent limit, according to internal documents viewed by Reuters, though the documents do not indicate whether the Treasury was able to verify definitively that this occurred.”

  94. tim,

Interesting that the first time the seal escaped was during a WOMEN’S summit!

The goddess is keeping track. I can’t wait for her to even the score with BO and with the Muslim religion.

  95. “As Obama’s Limo was entering through the gates of Buckingham Palace, the car stranded itself on a metal mechanism that holds the gates in place when they are closed.”

    I had forgotten about that.

    Good point.

  96. shadowfax,

I have asked that question in the past and never got a response.

    I think it’s just a bot.

  97. “As Obama’s Limo was entering through the gates of Buckingham Palace, the car stranded itself on a metal mechanism that holds the gates in place when they are closed.”

LOL, did this really happen? I missed this story.

  98. HAHA, I cannot stop laughing, I found the clip on youtube. Listen to the first about 15 seconds or so, you can hear the car scrapping, its pretty loud. LOL!!!

  99. LOL. first the car scraps the bottom and a few seconds later it gets wedged between the gates, and the crowd is laughing. Love it! Then someone in the crowd yells “Nice bit of driving”. If this was only Bush, we would seen it over and over from the Obot media.

  100. Liberty – 3
    BO – 0

    1 – Women against BO – +1 women – (1st seal incident)
2 – England against BO – England +1 (car stuck)
3 – American People against BO – AP +1 (Philly)

Now we just need the knockout punch.

  101. Having a discussion with someone at crawdad’s who said Obama is a Republican.

Maybe, but not exactly. If he is, he’s the worst sort of R – the crony fascist kind. At least with ideological small govt conservatives, you get some pushback at the unholy marriage of Corp and State.

Actually, I think Obama combines the very worst aspects of both political ideologies. Because both ideologies do have their downside. He wants the bloated, uber-powerful, intrusive, business-killing State that is the downside of collectivism if not watched closely, and the profit-at-all-human-expense side that is the worst face of conservatism if not tempered.

He actually does the opposite of what Clinton did, which was try to uses ideas that worked from both the “less govt” and “more govt” sides of the debate. Obama has a knack for actually picking the FLAWS of each side, and implementing them. Fucking moron.

  102. shadow,

I stand against emotionalistic manipulation, illogical claims, etc (among other things).

For one thing, this sort of statement:
“ALL the violent rapes in Norway (who is having the same problems) in 2010 were perpetrated by Muslim men”

A moment’s thought would show that this (if there’s any truth to it) is really talking about convictions, and cuts two ways.

Several factors cause a conviction rate: perhpas a different factor in each case. Some minority members may be more likely to commit the crime, or more likely to get caught (easier to describe and chase, for one thing). Also, majority members are more likely not to be investigated, or to be let off by juries.

But just by common sense, is it likely that NO OTHER men in Norway committed v. r. in that time? If there were so few rapes during that period, then it would be a too-small sampling to tell us anything about which group is doing those crimes.

  103. Waffles is for Waffles, once this is seen as a fact all falls into place, I agree there are flaws on both sides, too much govt, too little govt. I agree with you H4T, he seems to pick the most horrible aspects of both sides and then implements them.
We will never hear from him what we did from Clinton when Clinton lost the house “The era of big govt is over”. Clinton is not an idealogue, yes he is left — left of center, but he is also a centerist, learns and is curious about problems and how to actually fix them.

Waffles has no such curiosity about opposing views, he cannot ever fix problems, because he cannot get away from his far left radical ideology, all he does is blame someone for the problem and then says how he will fix it, if that doesn’t work, blame someone else.

And the crony repubs now have the tea party repubs to keep them in check, and that is a good thing, the dem party is going down the tube, they followed that pied chicago thug piper down the cliff, and if it was just isolated to the dem. party, that would be one thing, but the moron is taking the entire country down with him, there are no checks in the dem party against this alinksky chicago man.
And after seeing what happened on May 31th 2008, and how the repub primaries this time has so many candidates and the RNC chairman openly says, the people in the primaries will chose (yes the establishment has a fav, but they aren’t working to game the system), I am willing to say the repub party is more democratic than the “democratic” party at this point.

H4T, that was an excellent post. I agree with you.

  104. [Obama] actually does the opposite of what Clinton did, which was try to uses ideas that worked from both the “less govt” and “more govt” sides of the debate. Obama has a knack for actually picking the FLAWS of each side, and implementing them.

    ==============

Right. We might say, using the flaws of the “more govt” side to send more money to his crony backers.

As to Bill’s method, yes. Palin may have done something like that in Alaska.

  105. The article I posted @ 11:18am this morning has it right. Obama has been implementing the agenda of George Soros and Z-Big Brzezinski since he entered office. Cold War crap-

Now, Obama has veered into outright protectionism of Muslims and their agenda of killing Christians and stamping out Christianity all over the World. They try that sh*t here, they will run into the boldest take no prisoner Americans there are underground in the heartland.

  106. As to the claimed Norway statistics, that would mean that a minority commits ALL the v.r.’s while the majority commits none.

At least I suppose Muslims are still a minority in Norway, or at least their alleged jihad babies wouldn’t yet be old enough to commit rape.

(Maybe I should indulge in a feeding frenzy of looking up the population ratios in Norway.)

  107. Remember when BO changed the prez seal?

“Presidential candidate Barack Obama spoke behind a podium adorned with a revised version of the Presidential Seal during a meeting with Democratic governors at the Chicago History Museum on June 20, 2008.

Instead of the words “Seal of the President of the United States,” the revised logo featured the slogan “Obama for President.” In place of the motto “E Pluribus Unum” (“Out of many, one”) was the Latin phrase “Vero Possumus” (roughly, “Yes we can”).

Public reactions were mixed. Some found the “remixed” seal clever. Reuters said it “helped complete a presidential-looking setting.” Others found it silly at best, disrespectful and presumptuous at worst. A U.S. News & World Report columnist labeled it “arrogant.” ABC News headlined its coverage of the seal “The Audacity of Hype.”

A few days later the Obama campaign announced that it wouldn’t be used again. “It was a one-time seal for a one-time event,” communications director Robert Gibbs told reporters.”

BO has shown nothing but contempt for American symbols, American history, American culture and American values. Maybe American karma is getting ready to strike.

    shadow,

I stand against emotionalistic manipulation, illogical claims, etc (among other things).

    ————–
Please refer to me as Shadowfax and not the shortened version that implies friendship. You told me to STFU, from that point on, I do not consider you my friend but I have no problem having an intellectual argument, when I feel there is knowledge gained.

From your above statement, I see you are either not a Muslim or prefer to keep it to yourself, which is fine but it does not answer my question as to why you take it upon yourself to defend this particular religion when over and over the countries of the world that practice this religion no not practice gender equality. Abuse in this religion towards women is well founded. We all know some Muslims are cool, nice, lovely people, but the atrocities that folks on this site are talking about are not those people, and you know it.

  109. “Now, Obama has veered into outright protectionism of Muslims and their agenda of killing Christians and stamping out Christianity all over the World.”

    Agreed.

I also think many male journalists have a secret yen for the Muslim way. Certainly solves the female problem, doesn’t it?

As for women journalists – they’re idiots, straight-up. Romantic stars-in their eyes “The Sheltering Sky” “Lawrence of Arabia” heroines in their own minds – f**king twits.

They should read “Beyond the Veil,” or at least the portions of the Koran pertaining to female existence.

  110. This isn’t going to help Romney as a Republican Presidential candidate since he was the architect of the now already-existing Massachusetts version of healthcare.

    ——————————————————————————–

    2. Obamacare to Boost, Not Reduce ER Visits

Supporters of the healthcare reform legislation passed by Congress claim it will reduce emergency room visits by providing nearly all Americans with the insurance they can use to see a primary care physician.

    A new poll says otherwise.

The survey by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) found that 97 percent of doctors every day treat Medicaid patients in their emergency departments because the patients could not find a doctor willing to treat them for the fee Medicaid would pay.

If Obamacare provides insurance that reimburses physicians at Medicaid rates, visits to the ER will likely increase, according to ACEP.
In fact, 89 percent of doctors polled said they believe ER visits will increase under Obamacare.

“This poll confirms what we are witnessing in Massachusetts — that visits to emergency rooms are going to increase across the country, despite healthcare reform, and that health insurance coverage does not guarantee access to medical care,” said ACEP President Sandra Schneider.

Hundreds of emergency rooms across the country have been forced to shut down due to financial concerns, increasing the workload at those remaining open, and the healthcare reform law fails to address this issue, Dr. Schneider said.

Nearly half of the physicians surveyed in ACEP’s poll said fear of lawsuits is the biggest challenge to cutting costs in emergency rooms, and 53 percent said their fear of lawsuits was the main reason for ordering many of the tests they perform.

  111. In reference to the above dialog about the Dutch, I don’t think anyone has mentioned that entire Jewish communities in certain European communities are being forced to leave because of Muslim violence against them and their countries inability or lack of desire to put an end to it. Many governments are now afraid of the Muslims and the violence they have brought so they tolerate the anti semitic attacks.

The hell with all of them.

  112. Definitely sounding like a set-up sting. The info itself is coming from the Manhattan D.A’s own letter to the court….she lied.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/dominique-strauss-kahn/8614282/Dominique-Strauss-Kahn-accuser-could-face-perjury-charges.html

Dominique Strauss-Kahn accuser could face perjury charges

The hotel maid who alleges that she was sexually attacked by Dominique Strauss-Kahn could face charges for perjury or be deported from the US following claims that she lied under oath.

The 32-year-old maid is under intense scrutiny after New York prosecutors were forced to tell a court on Friday that they had found holes in her story that may seriously damage her credibility as a witness.

Reports in New York tabloids alleged that she provided sex for hotel guests in return for money, and that Mr Strauss-Kahn may have misunderstood the situation on May 14.

Mr Strauss-Kahn, who at the weekend was enjoying freedom without bail, is charged with trying to rape her after she arrived to clean his Manhattan Sofitel suite and forcing her to give him oral sex.

But the case against him is hanging by a thread. Reports claim that soon after the incident, she was recorded telling a drug dealer in Arizona: “Don’t worry, this guy has a lot of money. I know what I’m doing”.

But what is certain is that the maid told detectives and prosecutors that afterwards “she fled to an area of the main hallway” and “waited there until she observed the defendant leave suite 2806”.

French newspapers reported on Sunday that the maid married the drug dealer, a Gambian national, last year.

A letter filed to court by Cyrus Vance jr, the Manhattan district attorney, said: “The complainant testified to this version of events when questioned in the Grand Jury about her actions”.

However she “has since admitted that this account was false” and that she went on to clean another room, and returned to clean Mr Strauss-Kahn’s suite, before reporting the incident to her supervisor.

Socialist politicans in France suggested that Sofitel may have infilitrated by French secret services agents to set up the scandal ahead of next year’s presidential election. An opinion poll published yesterday found that almost half of French voters would still welcome Mr Strauss-Kahn’s entry into the race.

Under New York state law, testifying falsely in a way that is material to the case being considered is perjury in the first degree, a class D felony punishable with up to seven years in prison.

Kenneth Thompson, the maid’s attorney, said she had continued cleaning because “she did not want to lose her job and she knew that her supervisor was going to be coming up the stairs imminently”.

Mr Vance’s letter also stated that the maid had admitted in interviews that information she gave on her 2004 application for asylum in the US – including that she had been gang raped – “was false”.

She “certified under penalty of perjury” that the application was true.

Arrivals to the US may also be deported if convicted of “fraudulently obtaining immigration benefits” through false statements.

Mr Thompson said the maid was “the victim of female genital mutilation”, and didn’t know this alone would be enough to claim asylum, so allowed a man to help her exaggerate her application.

But he insisted his client was indeed raped by a group of Guinean soldiers, even if the account she gave in her application was inaccurate.

A spokesman for the district attorney was unavailable for comment. Mr Thompson says that the maid stands by her original allegations. Mr Strauss-Kahn denies all the charges.

Mr Thompson, who has not responded to the unverified allegations that his client accepted money for sex with hotel guests, did not return a request for comment on Sunday night.

    ………………………

There are going to have to be questions asked of the District Attorneys office, immigration dept, the Sofitel hotel, her union, the media.

Either way it will be an unqualified flop. 114. and as usual Bill Clinton tries to solve the problem. Obama…..crickets.

Obama, Republicans May Have to Settle on Debt Ceiling Mini-Deal to Avoid Government Loan Default

A “mini-deal” to extend the debt ceiling for the short term may be the answer for Republican lawmakers and President Obama to reach an agreement on raising the debt ceiling before the Aug. 2 deadline to avoid a government default on its loans.

President Bill Clinton offered up the suggestion during an interview Saturday night, and in the absence of any other agreement, at least one GOP lawmaker didn’t outright dismiss it.

“The problem with a mini-deal is we have a maxi problem. And these — the big problems — aren’t going to go away if you cut a mini-deal. All it does is delay the moment of truth. So I’d say better now than then,” Sen. John Cornyn told “Fox News Sunday.”

“But if we can’t, we’ll take savings we can get now, and we’ll re-litigate as we get closer to election,” said Cornyn, R-Texas.

Republicans refuse to eliminate tax deductions and subsidies that help businesses and individuals reduce their overall obligation to the government unless there’s a drop in existing tax rates.

“I think the American people understand that raising taxes grows the size of the federal government. If there’s one thing that I think they told us on November 2010 is that they want government to get smaller, not bigger,” Cornyn said. “So, the only way to get government smaller, more rational, is to cut spending, not to raise taxes. So, I think we win that.”

Democrats say loopholes for wealthy Americans and corporations are unfair tax breaks, and need to be scrapped so that higher income earners contribute more to the Treasury’s coffers.

“Now, it would be nice if we could keep every tax break, but we can’t afford them,” Obama said during his weekly radio address on Saturday. “Nothing can be off-limits, including spending in the tax code, particularly the loopholes that benefit very few individuals and corporations.”

Clinton said since the GOP won’t agree on increasing the revenue side of the government’s accounting ledger, Obama should consider a “mini-deal” to give the two sides time to sort through the thicket of tax rates and deductions.

“I hope they will make a mini-deal,” Clinton reportedly told The Atlantic. “There are some spending cuts they agree on …and (President Obama) can take those and (get) an extension of the debt ceiling for six or eight months. I don’t think you can agree to some mega-deal on their terms.”

  116. Carol
Learned something new last week– Did you know that when doctor’s volunteer at clinics on their days off they have to obtain and pay for additional insurance which is very costly. Just all kinds of ass backwards. person willing to donate their time and their expertise and then to be told you can’t do it without buying more insurance. Clinics probably deal with all kinds of high risk stuff but it just seems illogical. Maybe the state or the very lucrative medical centers should collectively shoulder the cost.

Cornyn is looking for the “golden fleece” fix. It doesn’t exist not at this stage of the debt crisis. If something he is looking for is implemented, the people suffering the most filling the void in spending cuts will be the middle class. They are suffering enough already. I heard recently, Congress was thinking about cutting claiming the deduction for home mortgage interest on our Tax Returns. I haven’t heard anymore about it since it was mentioned. Of course, they have no worries on that score. They have a guaranteed job along with a guaranteed paycheck. I haven’t heard anything about them voluntarily taking a paycut or refusing their annual pay raises.

Cornyn doesn’t seems to get it. BC is proposing solutions for shoring up the economy while fixing the deficit in stages. Cornyn’s proposal is ‘killing the goose that lays the golden egg’- the middle class Taxpayer.

More and more is coming out, the maid wanted big bucks from DSK for services, based on this article she knew who he was, he refused to pay, so says this article. This whole thing is unraveling so fast.

“She had dollar signs in her eyes.

Before she ever walked into Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s dazzling suite at the Sofitel, his accuser was well aware of his VIP status — and planning to get her hands in his deep pockets, sources told The Post.

“She figured he’s a rich dude, and she would get paid,” said a source close to the defense investigation. “She was told by the crew she ran with that this was a gold mine.”

The maid, who routinely traded sex for money with male guests, parked her cleaning cart outside Suite 2806 on the morning of May 14 and keyed her way into the room — knowing what he looked like from a photo hanging in a maid closet that identified him as an important guest.

Multiple versions have emerged of what happened next, but nobody disputes that the 32-year-old maid performed oral sex on the Frenchman known as “the Great Seducer.”

Sources now tell The Post that when the two were finished, the woman demanded cash from Strauss-Kahn — but he refused to pay.

“There was an expectation of money after the fact, but he was dismissive,” the source said.

And not gently, the source said — DSK brushed off the maid’s request as he turned his back and got dressed.

    She pressed her case.

“She remained in the room with him while he got dressed for at least nine minutes,” the source said.

The humiliating exchange sparked the maid’s anger, prosecutors suspect…. Con’t”

Fuck all Muslims that keep their women in bondage and dummy them down with their stupid male-loving laws.

Any Muslin that oppresses women is my enemy and I hope they stay the Hell out of America!

Yes,Yes,Yes. I have seen and heard enough. Islam sucks. No religion oppresses woman like Islam and I am tired of apologists trying to paint a rosy picture about this “religion”. Even Mormons have evolved, Catholics have evolved, not Islam. Not a whit. Let them try and oppress me. They will have to pry my Walther PPK out of my cold dead hand! Happy 4th.

  125. “Hmmmmmm……. Is it a plot to preserve or destroy the US currency as the world’s reserve?”

That’s exactly what I thought, I do not know much about this DSK’s views on the dollar as the reserve to know yet. I’m researching this now, trying to figure out what his views when it comes to monetary and fiscal policy are, then we may know more. So far, this whole thing just stinks, on both sides. What is stunning to me is that this expensive hotel has staff that keep pictures of their clients, most hotels at this level tend to pride themselves on the privacy they offer, now all this comes out, the fallout for this hotel is going to be massive as well, who in their right mind would pay like $500 a night (I am guessing the price) after all this?

I swear there are times I remember coming up to what’s now my little home, when it used to be just a summer cottage, back in 2003, and how I could only get a few stations on the TV and it was GWB 24/7 and I hated it and used to curse and scream during the WMD BS and now, 9 years later, I get the same reaction when I hear, see or read about BO.

At much as I would yell at the TV when Bush was on, Waffles is much much worse, a pretender, a phooney, no respect for the office of the presidency, I cannot even watch the fool, Bush I could stand watching, Waffles I cannot, I bought a new TV just recently, I cannot afford another one. Transcripts is all I can handle from President Waffles.

Full moons- to everyone passing by- I saw the video of Muslims blocking the streets in Paris- Disgusting They should have been herded into a field if they want to profess their religion publicly. From what I read, the police backed down on arresting or charging them with obstruction, disorderly conduct or not having a license like everyone else who is going to interfere or obstruct daily business in a town or city.

  131. Tim,

And to think in 2003 I thought no one could be worse than Bush. I had that argument with my favorite brother the other day who, as usual, is slow to react and catch up with political reality.

He used to argue in support of Bush in 2003. Now, equally brainwashed, he protects BO and spouts about Bush’s lies on WMD. I try to remind him I was the one pointing out the total unbelievability of WMD and the damage Bush was doing to the country 8 years ago. I say that gives me credibility in my perspective, now, on BO.

He doesn’t like to talk about it. He says other people (he knows) don’t agree with me. I think these “other people” are his two spoiled rotten adopted Korean teenagers. But I can tell that despite his reluctance to admit it, he agrees with much of what I say.

Anyway, we don’t talk politics unless he brings the subject up – at least 3 times – and after he has opened the door I eventually bring up my perspective and before you know it he’s screaming at me on the telephone and accusing me of starting the argument.

Then we hang up and he’ll call a couple of days later and admit it was his fault.

  140. Mrs. Smith,

I moved to NYS in 2007. Before that I lived in West Paterson – a carved out-area of Paterson. That’s where the mosques and the Muslims were. But West Paterson, near the filming site for the infamous Housewives of NJ, in Wayne, is just 15 or so miles from NYC and the entire stretch from the Hudson River to just beyond West Paterson is like one huge strip mall, each town blending into the next, with public transportation via bus routes either through the NJT or hundreds of min-fleets shuffling workers to NYC and back.

I lived there from the late 1990’s until 2007.

    Some stats:
New Jersey is one of the most ethnically and religiously diverse states in the country. It has the second largest Jewish population by percentage (after New York);[32] the second largest Muslim population by percentage (after Michigan)

Many New Jersey districts have for years closed schools for Muslim holidays, including Paterson, Atlantic City, Trenton, Cliffside Park, Piscataway, Prospect Park, Plainfield and Irvington. South Brunswick schools, with a Muslim student population of 20 percent, added the religion’s holidays to its calendar this year for the first time.

Roughly 43 percent of US Muslims are AA’s.

I had read that news article about the Netherlands and I was jubilant!

    Turndown,
I am an immigrant here from the Netherlands. My family came here decades ago when I was very young. Most of my relatives still live in Holland.

I was delighted when Geert Wilders was found not guilty. I was even more delighted when the Dutch finally stopped their assinine behavior and decided that Dutch culture was worth saving.

The Netherlands was being taken over by the Muslims. What has happened in Rotterdam is disgusting, IMHO.

My aunt, who lived under the German occupation and saw many of her neighbors, who were Jews, being pulled out of their homes and taken to the railway cars. She was 13 at the time. She and her famiy were forced to quarter and host the Nazis and were beaten, threatened, assaulted as were most of the Dutch during that time.

She used to bicycle all over Den Haag (The Hague), no more! She only stays in her neighborhood because the Muslims have made it dangerous for her to go to the Centrum. My cousin was knifed by Muslims when he walked back to his car from an evening at a concert. My other cousin, a school teacher was threatened by a Muslim family for informing the authorities of abuse happening to a young Muslim girl student in her class. She was forced to transfer or she would have been killed. I can go on and on about what is happening to the Netherlands, but you, as some sort of Neville Chamberlain Appeaser, will find excuse after excuse for the religion of peace no matter what they practice and that this religion/culture treats women and girls as less than human.

  146. ‘Don’t you ever get sick of yourself? Because I surely do.’
    Me too.

    I want answers from TD about the following;

1 – on what basis do you justify clothing women in Burkhas?
2 – By what right do you justify child brides and cliterodectomy?
3- What is your position on women not driving in Saudi Arabia?-
4 How so you respond to seeing few Muslim women portrayed on TV?
6 – Have you ever worn a bhurka? How did you feel.

  147. And then there’s this. They should just given me the $100g.

The report was written by the White House’s Council of Economic Advisors, a group of three economists who were all handpicked by Obama, and it chronicles the alleged success of the “stimulus” in adding or saving jobs. The council reports that, using “mainstream estimates of economic multipliers for the effects of fiscal stimulus” (which it describes as a “natural way to estimate the effects of” the legislation), the “stimulus” has added or saved just under 2.4 million jobs — whether private or public — at a cost (to date) of $666 billion. That’s a cost to taxpayers of $278,000 per job.

In other words, the government could simply have cut a $100,000 check to everyone whose employment was allegedly made possible by the “stimulus,” and taxpayers would have come out $427 billion ahead.

Furthermore, the council reports that, as of two quarters ago, the “stimulus” had added or saved just under 2.7 million jobs — or 288,000 more than it has now. In other words, over the past six months, the economy would have added or saved more jobs without the “stimulus” than it has with it. In comparison to how things would otherwise have been, the “stimulus” has been working in reverse over the past six months, causing the economy to shed jobs.

  148. Hi Tim,
Thanks for your kind words, but my cousin survived the knifing and is now much more careful and my other cousin did transfer. My aunt is still alive and regales me with stories about the past on a regular basis.

While much of my family lived under the Jackboot of the Nazis in Holland, many, including my parents, were in the Netherlands Indies (now Indonesia) at the time and were interned in Japanese concentration camps and later Javanese concentration camps during the revolution there. The Indonesians were much worse than the Japanese, according to my parents, because the Japanese were somewhat kind to old people and children. Although most of my family there was tortured and beaten regularly.

I love reading your comments, BTW.

Happy 4th of July to everyone here tomorrow. I love reading Big Pink. God Bless America!

Despite our goverment’s many mistakes over the past decades, Americans are the kindest, the most open, the most tolerant people in the world. I say that having lived in two culturs and two countries, and now here, my third. I thank God for this country and its wonderful inhabitants every day.

  157. Looking for some non-crazy reports on Norway statistics. Apparently versions of this nonsense have been going around rightwing websites, so it’s worth the bandwidth to debunk it.

What’s going around is a version that claims all rapes of any sort were by Muslims. The links I give below debunk that version as well as the version that was posted here. The original source was in Norweigan so I’m quoting from translations at a forum.

The poster here used the milder version, claiming that all ‘violent rapes’ were by Muslims. So I’ll just quote what applies to her version.

As I thought, the total number was too small a sampling to take a plausible percentage from: SIX CASES TOTAL:

assault rape made up 8% of all rapes in Norway last year. There were six cases where the perpretrator was arrested, five men were involved. The total number of confirmed cases where someone who was not a psychiatric patient randomly attacked and raped women in Oslo in 2010 was THREE (all this info is in the original police report).
    [….]
    From Norweigen police:
“generalizations that have given the impression that [all] the rapists are only foreigners – and mainly Muslims -prove inadequate and erroneous”?

Hackers broke into Fox’s political Twitter account early Monday, posting updates saying President Barack Obama had been assassinated.

A series of six tweets coming from the FoxNewsPolitics account reported that Obama had been shot to death in Iowa and the shooter was unknown.

In a statement posted on its website later Monday morning, Fox News called the tweets “malicious” and “false.” It said the hacking is being investigated.

Obama plans to spend the July Fourth U.S. Independence Day holiday at a barbecue at the White House with military families and administration staffers.

Secret Service spokesman George Olgilvie says the agency wouldn’t comment on the tweets.

Fox’s political Twitter account has more than 34,000 followers.

Here’s an idea. Teachers pay based on performance (?). A better idea, Executive and Congressional pay based on performance- yes! 🙂

Republicans May Take (Clinton’s) ‘Mini’ Debt-Ceiling Deal

Republicans might accept a “mini” deal with the Obama administration on raising the debt limit, Senator John Cornyn of Texas, a Republican leader, said yesterday on “Fox News Sunday.”

The idea may delay politically difficult decisions if it’s structured to postpone action on a larger package of spending cuts or revenue increases until after the 2012 election cycle, an analyst said.

“What we’ve been calling for is to have a down payment that’s as big as possible,” Marc Goldwein, former associate director of President Barack Obama’s debt commission, said yesterday in an interview.

Even so, the White House rejected a short-term extension of the debt limit, deputy communications director Jen Psaki said.

“The president has consistently said it is in the country’s economic interests for Congress to reach common ground on a significant long-term deficit reduction package,” Psaki said in an e-mail. “He has been clear in conversations with leaders in both parties about that.”

The Senate shortened its July 4 recess and will remain in Washington to discuss a deal this week to raise the nation’s $14.3 trillion debt limit. The Obama administration is negotiating with Congress on reducing the long-term budget deficit as part of a plan to raise the limit before borrowing authority expires.

  170. HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, BIG PINK!!

I have a good many facebook friends who are from the UK. This is one of the things I posted today in honor of July 4th:

To my UK friends on US Independence Day: I have seen our anthem played many times, in many moving situations. But this one at Buckingham Palace still makes me cry. It was classy. It was understated and fraught with quiet dignity. It was a hand of friendship and comfort when we needed it most, from an amazing people. Despite all the crap that has happened between then and now, I will not forget it and will always treasure it. Did we ever say thank you? Well, I just did.

Born (or at least unveiled) on the 4th of July. 10ft statue of Ronald Reagan is unveiled in London

    * But Baroness Thatcher too frail to attend as bronze of former U.S. president is revealed at American Embassy

    By Daily Mail Reporter

    4th July 2011

It was a fitting occasion for the 4th of July. A statue of Ronald Reagan was unveiled at the American Embassy in London today to mark the centenary of the former U.S. president’s birth.

Foreign Secretary William Hague and former U.S. secretary of state Condoleezza Rice watched as the 10ft bronze figure was revealed in Grosvenor Square.

Sadly Mr Reagan’s great political ally and friend, former prime minister Baroness Thatcher, was unable to attend due to her frailty.

The statue of Mr Reagan was commissioned as part of a year of celebrations. It will stand alongside statues of other American presidents such as Franklin D Roosevelt and Dwight D Eisenhower, another Republican who served two terms.

Although the embassy is moving from its central London home next year, the statues will remain at their current Grosvenor Square location.

Miss Rice, who was representing the late president’s widow Nancy Reagan, will give the keynote speech at a gala dinner for 700 people at The Guildhall later in the day.

The statue was commissioned by the Reagan Memorial Fund Trust.

According to Adam Shapiro, the speaker of the Free Gaza flotilla (Wadi):

What we’ve been doing over the last ten years with the International Solidarity Movement, Free Gaza, and all the other outgrowth organizations and movements and groups is to …work with Palestinian society to ramp up the resistance. This is all part of a Palestinian movement for Palestine... This is truly an international movement … It’s only Palestine, this cause that has been going on for over 60 years, that generates this kind of activism, this kind of resistance… Free Gaza is but one tactic of a larger strategy, to transform this conflict from one between Israel and the Palestinians, or Israel and the Arab world…to one between the rest of the world and Israel…

It’s about time the international media drop the fiction the Gaza flotilla is motivated by humanitarian concerns. It is not about resolving conflict; its aim is to create conflict. Don’t take my word for it. Just listen to its organizers.

CEO pay in US soared 23 percent in 2010
    By Barry Grey
    4 July 2011

While US unemployment remains at near-Depression levels and health care, pensions and education are being slashed by all levels of the government, the pay of corporate CEOs is soaring.

The compensation of the 200 highest-paid chief executives at large corporations increased by 23 percent in 2010 over the previous year, according to a report in Sunday’s New York Times.

Median pay for these individuals was $10.8 million, equivalent to the median pay of nearly 280 US workers.

  176. Well, I’ve had a lovely holiday, including a trip to one of the many NJ vantage points frequented by George Washington when he needed to check on British doings in NY harbor. Earlier the whole family watched the movie-length documentary, ‘George Washington’s First War’ which is an in-depth study of the French & Indian War. Those of you more informed than I already knew that Washington fought alongside the British at that time to gain the 1758 prize, Fort Duquesne, in theory anyway, because his unexpected advance on the place caused the French to blast it to smithereens rather than having it fall into British hands. Scholars opine that the American Revolution could have turned out quite differently had Washington not gained the military experience of Western PA.

Then returning to the year 2011, it seems that Congressmen John Fleming, MD will make a announcement tomorrow:

    Time: 10pm EST (9pm Central)
    FOX BUSINESS NETWORK
    Host: Eric Bolling
    Show: Follow The Money
Please spread the word and tune in!

There is another woman in France who’s mother was a member of the Socialist Party who has now come forward a second time to accuse this man of a sexual assualt against her back in 2007. She first accused him in 2007, even after her mother begged her not to do so. I don’t know what transpired back then, but she is now looking to press charges against this creep in 2011. I don’t go for this conspiracy nonsense with regards to this man. He sounds like a guy who has used his power to force his ugly A$$ on whomever he pleased. May justice prevail either way.

  182. Oh, and this woman was a news reporter (if I remember correctly) who was interviewing the slimeball when he decided to attack her at the end of the interview. He is a PIG.

This is similar to the politically correct controlling the news of black crime. Many times, the race of a perpetrator of crime is left off the news, leaving the viewer guessing when the perpetrator is described as “5’10” tall, wearing a gray hoodie, white running shoes, and jeans”. No race mentioned. So much for trying to have the public protected from the criminals, or just as important, helpful in their capture.

Swedish Welfare State Collapses as Immigrants Wage War
From the desk of Fjordman on Tue, 2006-03-28 21:49

Last year I wrote an article about how Swedish society is disintegrating and is in danger of collapsing, at least in certain areas and regions. The country that gave us Bergman, ABBA and Volvo could become known as the Bosnia of northern Europe. The “Swedish model” would no longer refer to a stable and peaceful state with an advanced economy, but to a Eurabian horror story of utopian multiculturalism, socialist mismanagement and runaway immigration. Some thought I was exaggerating, and that talk of the possibility of a future civil war in Sweden was pure paranoia. Was it?

In a new sociological survey (pdf in Swedish, with brief English introduction) entitled “Vi krigar mot svenskarna” (“We’re waging a war against the Swedes”), young immigrants in the troubled city of Malmö have been interviewed about why they are involved in crime. Although it is not stated, most of the immigrant perpetrators are Muslims. In one of the rare instances where the Swedish media actually revealed the truth, the newspaper Aftonbladet reported several years ago that 9 out of 10 of the most criminal ethnic groups in Sweden came from Muslim countries. This must be borne in mind whilst reading the following newspaper article:

Immigrants are “waging war” against Swedes through robbery

The wave of robberies the city of Malmö has witnessed during this past year is part of a “war against the Swedes.” This is the explanation given by young robbers from immigrant backgrounds when questioned about why they only rob native Swedes, in interviews with Petra Åkesson for her thesis in sociology. “I read a report about young robbers in Stockholm and Malmö and wanted to know why they rob other youths. It usually does not involve a lot of money,” she says. She interviewed boys between 15 and 17 years old, both individually and in groups.

Almost 90% of all robberies reported to the police were committed by gangs, not individuals. “When we are in the city and robbing we are waging a war, waging a war against the Swedes.” This argument was repeated several times. “Power for me means that the Swedes shall look at me, lie down on the ground and kiss my feet.” The boys explain, laughingly, that “there is a thrilling sensation in your body when you’re robbing, you feel satisfied and happy, it feels as if you’ve succeeded, it simply feels good.” “It’s so easy to rob Swedes, so easy.” “We rob every single day, as often as we want to, whenever we want to.” The immigrant youth regard the Swedes as stupid and cowardly: “The Swedes don’t do anything, they just give us the stuff. They’re so wimpy.” The young robbers do not plan their crimes: “No, we just see some Swedes that look rich or have nice mobile phones and then we rob them.”

Why do they hate the Swedes so much? “Well, they hate us,” Petra Åkesson reports them as answering. “When a Swede goes shopping, the lady behind the counter gives him the money back into his hand, looks into his eyes and laughs. When we go shopping, she puts the money on the counter and looks the other way.” Åkesson, who is adopted from Sri Lanka and hence does not look like a native Swede, says it was not difficult to get the boys to talk about their crimes. Rather they were bragging about who had committed the most robberies. Malin Åkerström,a professor in sociology, sees only one solution to the problem: “Jobs for everybody. If this entails a deregulation of the labor market to create more jobs, then we should do so.”…

There’s more to this interesting article at the link. I found this by doing a search on Malmo, Sweden, having known for some time that there were major problems with Muslims in that city and area of Sweden for some time now.

  187. Here’s more from the article that I linked above:

It is interesting to note that these Muslim immigrants state quite openly that they are involved in a “war,” and see participation in crime and harassment of the native population as such. This is completely in line with what I have posited before. The number of rape charges in Sweden has quadrupled in just above twenty years. Rape cases involving children under the age of 15 are six times as common today as they were a generation ago. Most other kinds of violent crime have rapidly increased, too. Instability is spreading to most urban and suburban areas. Resident aliens from Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia dominate the group of rape suspects. Lawyer Ann Christine Hjelm found that 85 per cent of the convicted rapists were born on foreign soil or from foreign parents. The phenomenon is not restricted to Sweden. The number of rapes committed by Muslim immigrants in Western nations is so extremely high that it is difficult to view these rapes as merely random acts of individuals. It resembles warfare. This is happening in most Western European countries, as well as in other non muslim countries such as India. European jails are filling up with Muslims imprisoned for robberies and all kinds of violent crimes, and Muslims bomb European civilians. One can see the mainstream media are struggling to make sense of all of this. That is because they cannot, or do not want to, see the obvious: this is exactly how an invading army would behave: rape, pillage and bombing. If many of the Muslim immigrants see themselves as conquerors in a war, it all makes perfect sense.

Does this have to happen to an appeaser, or to an apologist before he or she takes this violent threat seriously? I am of the opinion that it needs to be nipped in the bud now, not later.

  188. What the heck is google doing? I don’t use Google, I was using a friend’s computer and noticed they have some weird banner, NO american flag, what the heck do they have on their banner? I know they are a lefty company, but I must admit it stunned me that they had this weird banner, and not one american flag, or anything to acknowledge what July 4th means.

I then went to Bing, and they have a beautiful picture of a bald eagle and all these other squares that talk about the founding fathers. I use yahoo search and bing, I have not used Google in many years, and I am glad I no longer do, I guess Google is too cool to put an american flag to celebrate July 4th.
