Sexy Bin Laden, Shy Huckabee, Cold Kohl, Running Ron Paul, Hitched Mitch Daniels, Trump Trumpeting

Update: Huckabee is not running. The shocker is who came on right after Huckabee. It was Donald Trump! Read what we wrote before the announcement about Trump and Huckabee. The significance is that Donald Trump knew Huckabee’s decision before many in Huckabee’s supposed inner circle. Donald Trump had to know because he recorded a message to follow Huckabee’s announcement. Read what we wrote. Trump haters beware.

We speculated about a Huckabee endorsement of Donald Trump. We firmly believe our speculation is on target. Judge for yourself. See below.

————————————————————————————-

Friday the 13th leads into pot luck-y day at Big Pink. So much happened, or rather was announced to happen yesterday we have to do a buffet pot luck commentary day.

We’ve previously discussed the Republican presidential field and provided the pluses and minuses of most, if not all the candidates. The big news is that today Mike Huckabee announces whether he will run for president. The Huckabee show is tonight at 8:00 on Fox News. There was a lot of speculation about what Huckabee will say. Ed Rollins and others think Huckabee is happy to make money and will not run again. Others think he will run.

One thing we can say which we doubt anyone who is being honest will contradict: Mike Huckabee cannot stand (is hate too strong a word?) Willard Mitt Romney. Another thing we can say – which is pure speculation and probably has no merit whatsoever so therefore we will phrase it as a question: is the Mike Huckabee announcement somehow tied to Donald Trump?

If Huckabee announces he is running for president forget our speculations because they will be utter foolishness and boobery (Huck today said “once I pull the trigger… things will get even crazier.” If Huckabee announces he is running for president he will be a very strong candidate and probably the immediate frontrunner. A strong case can be made that he would also be the nominee. An email today to his supporters suggests The Huck is in.

But if Huckabee announces he is not running… let’s speculate further: Huckabee might be trying to block a potential Trump announcement of an announcement tomorrow. Or Huckabee might be trying to help Trump??? Huckabee met with Trump a few weeks ago and the meeting was cordial and Huckabee had some nice things to say about The Donald and declared that it was his impression Trump was going to run.

At the time of the Trump/Huckabee meeting Trump was strongly hurting Romney in New Hampshire. New Hampshire is an absolutely must win state for Romney. We would not be shocked if Huckabee would decide to endorse Trump in order to finish off Willard in New Hampshire. The benefits to Trump of an eventual Huckabee endorsement would be astronomical. Huckabee is a favorite in Iowa and with Evangelicals. Couple a Huckabee endorsement with a Franklin Graham endorsement (which Graham has almost already given) and Trump would be greatly helped in Iowa and throughout the south.

There is another Huckabee possible endorsement but let’s discuss Trump a bit. Tomorrow is the final episode of Donald Trump’s TV show. Trump might or might not say anything tomorrow (we’ve discussed this before) about when he will announce. Trump will not announce tomorrow. Trump might announce when he will make his announcement.

We suspect that yes or no announcement will come on the 23rd or 24th of May.
Our reasoning is that Trump’s contract with NBC ends on May 22. On May 23rd Barack Obama goes off on his regular European Vacation. A Trump announcement for president while Obama is jetting off yet again would send the message of the vacationing absent president. Trump might announce he is not running for president but then why the very important interview with Erick Erickson of Redstate this coming Tuesday, the policy book coming this summer and the several scheduled visits to New Hampshire and Iowa?

Back to Huckabee sorta. Huckabee could decide not to run and endorse Mitch Daniels. Mitch Daniels is now beyond a doubt the ESTABLISHMENT candidate. The rumors are that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker will endorse Mitch Daniels if and when he decides to run. Huckabee could join Team Mitch Daniels and make Daniels the choice of the governors.

Mitch Daniels is a formidable candidate on paper. But Mitch Daniels is quite possibly the weakest and best opponent for Barack Obama. Republicans/conservatives better listen to us about Mitch Daniels because we are Democrats and we know exactly the way Mitch Daniels will be destroyed by Barack Obama.

Let’s first discuss why Daniels is strong. Daniels comes from Iowa neighbor Indiana. Daniels therefore should be able to do well in Iowa because he is a known factor there (the same reason why Romney is strong in New Hampshire, because he was governor of neighbor Massachusetts). Daniels is a very popular governor of Indiana. In 2008 Obama won Indiana but so did Mitch Daniels who was reelected with a huge portion of the vote (18% margin of victory). Daniels turned an $800 billion deficit into a $1.2 billion surplus in Indiana.

While Mitch Daniels irked conservatives with his call for a “truce” on social issues he has mended that problem quickly by defunding Planned Parenthood. Mitch Daniels worked for Republican moderate Richard Lugar too and did not join Scott Walker during the recent Wisconsin rumble so it provides him with a patina of “moderate”. Scott Walker is on Team Mitch Daniels and understands that Mitch Daniels did much of what Scott Walker succeeded in doing this year – years ago. In short, Mitch Daniels can be sold as a common sense conservative that gets things done.

Mitch Daniels is a strong candidate on paper and someone Barack Obama wants to run against. Follow us on this Republicans/conservatives because it shows how differently we Democrats think.

The Republican/conservative worry about Mitch Daniels might be relevant for primaries but the concerns are comical to our Democratic eyes. The usually sharp (if not pungent) Ace of Spades has produced some long essays about how Daniels has a problem because he is waiting for his wife’s OK or something. We Democrats cannot really understand this type of thinking because we like men confident enough to marry strong women (and vice versa, not to mention gay couples). AceofSpades also thinks that the marriage-divorce-marriage (Cheri Daniels re-married in the interim) of the Daniels duo is some sort of problem too. Hey, we’re Democrats and we cheered Liz Taylor and her eight marriages – twice to the drunk but magnificent Richard Burton (Liz remarried in the interim too, several times).

We do see the point of concern AceofSpades has because Barack Obama is sure to do what he always does and conduct a smear campaign against Daniels. Barack Obama would go dumpster diving to get divorce records and every bit of dirt on family history from Daniels – it is what Barack Obama has always done – it’s what Republicans have always done to Bill and Hillary Clinton. But let’s not digress by indulging in “what goes around, comes around”.

In that Republican/conservative AceofSpades article there is also the silliness (to our Democratic minds and eyes that “Daniels says he’d like Condi Rice as VP. Given his situation, I think he actually needs the opposite. He can’t play further into the idea that women boss him. Huh??? We told you Republicans think differently than Democrats, even we NObama Democrats.

Mitch Daniels stupidly said that he is not ready to debate Barack Obama on foreign policy so we understand why he would say that Condoleezza Rice is his choice for VP. But the smart play for Republicans is a Latino or Latina for Vice President. A black VP choice is not going to take black votes away from Barack Obama. A Latina/o such as Susanna Martinez from the Southwest could permanently damage Obama Dimocrats. But we digress, again.

Why is Mitch Daniels the weakest of all Republican candidates? Here’s why: He is the Republican ESTABLISHMENT candidate but most importantly he would allow Barack Obama to run the race Obama wants to run.

We know Laura Bush has called Cheri Daniels to get her on board with a presidential run by her husband. We know Karl Rove and all the George W. Bush crowd is out to help Mitch Daniels. The dream is that Mitch Daniels announces after everyone else announces and then there is a Tsunami of endorsements which repeat the George W. Bush immediate capture of the Republican nomination in 2000.

Mitch Daniels is the weakest of all Republican candidates because with Daniels as the Republican nominee Barack Obama will run the campaign Barack Obama wants to run. What is the campaign Barack Obama wants to run? Barack Obama wants to run the Barack Obama Versus George W. Bush campaign of 2008.

Barack Obama will get all the personal divorce/marital problems dirt he can on Mitch Daniels. It is what he has always done. But most importantly Barack Obama will point out that Mitch Daniels is a creation of the George W. Bush campaign organization. Obama wants to rerun 2008 and Mitch Daniels is a rerun of 2008.

Why Mitch Daniels’ is so weak: Mitch Daniels directed the George W. Bush Office of Management and Budget. As the Director Mitch Daniels ran the Bill Clinton surplus of $236 billion into deficits over $400 billion. Barack Obama will use this information to destroy Mitch Daniels in the same way that Barack Obama will use Willard Romney’s healthcare mess in Massachusetts to inoculate himself against the Obama health care scam. Barack Obama will run against Mitch Daniels in a complete repeat of 2008.

Some Republicans have made the case against Mitch Daniels from a Republican/conservative viewpoint:

“It has frequently been said about Mitch Daniels that he “turned deficits into surpluses” as governor. The only problem with this claim is that it’s not true. According to the CNBC/Forbes.com, which annually ranks states according to business climate, Indiana has a $1.4-billion budget deficit as of FY2011.

That same CNBC/Forbes.com list ranked Indiana as barely 21st out of 50 states — i.e. in the middle of the peloton, trailing Democrat-run states such as Massachusetts and Washington. Indiana is 42nd in terms of the quality of its workforce, 44th in quality of life, 26th in access to capital, and 22nd in technology and innovation. In only three categories does Indiana make it to the top ten: the cost of doing business, infrastructure (mostly due to federal infrastructure programs), and business friendliness.

This is how badly Indiana ranked in late 2010, more than five years after Daniels was sworn in as governor. A state that ranks 44th in terms of quality of life? No, thanks.

When Daniels was director of the OMB, he performed equally miserably: he turned budget surpluses (America’s first since FY1969) into deficits. He also oversaw the enactment and funding of the No Child Left Behind Act, the prescription drug entitlement, and increases of funding for the ED and the DOT, as well as the reinstatement of farm subsidies (which were largely abolished in 1996 under the Freedom to Farm Act) and the creation of ethanol subsidies (later increased by his successors). Daniels’ response to the OMB’s critics was that a balanced budget “is not the highest priority.” The deficit continued to grow during Daniels’ entire tenure, and it peaked in FY2004 at $400 billion under the last budget devised by Daniels. It was later reduced to $162 billion in FY2007 by his successors.”

Mitt Romney as the Republican nominee would take the Obama health care scam off the table. Mitch Daniels as the Republican nominee takes off, or certainly muddies, the strong attack that can be made about Obama’s budget recklessness. Are you listening Republicans/conservatives?

Mitch Daniels is also an advocate of “anthropogenic global warming” which would also help Barack Obama. In the Republican primaries this hurts Daniels. Tim Pawlenty has run away from his record on this issue as has Newt.

In our last article we posted this video showcasing Newt:

The video is so potent that Newtie responded with some rip-roaring silliness about how that video is a “debate” with Nancy Pelousy. It’s an embarrassing response from a shameless reptile.

Speaking of embarrassing, the American government is doing all it can to humiliate the stiff. Oh, we are being naughty by calling him a “stiff”. The New York Post joined in with a headline “Osama Bin Wankin’! They say it is “Whora Bora – porn found in Laden’s foxhole.” Heavens to Betsy! What is this world coming to??? when you can’t trust a holy warrior with multiple wives to, um, keep his hands clean???

We bought shame unto ourselves when we published the gross contents of an Osama Bin Laden porn tape. We disgraced ourselves with the demand “Release The Photos!

On the political porn front from yesterday, Herb Kohl announced he is retiring. This sets up a possible Paul Ryan versus Russ Feingold battle for the senate in 2012.

Oh, and Ron Paul announced to no one’s surprise that he is running for president again.

  1. When Trump suggested he would announce an announcement date on his hit TV show there was an uproar of outrage.

  2. While we wait for Huckabee here is our suggestion for his theme song (for fans of the Huckster, replace “Honeybee” and suggestive lyrics with “Huckabee”):

  3. As we wrote, Huckabee really hates Romney. He has a bunch of commenters on beating up on Willard.

  4. Daniels, yaaaaawn!! He already shot himself in the foot even before he runs.. He said he will not win a foreign policy debate with Obuma and this was before bin Laden murder. That is why he is found recently hiding behind Condi’s skirt. Is George Schultz the establishment ghost? I remember he handpicked GW, the slacker for 40 years and he also found Condi.

  5. Mitch Daniels has shifty eyes. I try to care about these repub candidates, but they are too ridiculous. If Trump doesn’t run, I don’t vote in 2012 unless a really interesting Independent candidate emerges from the weeds.

  6. Finally, he’s beginning to talk about the travails of his decision. No decision yet though. Eight minutes to go.

  7. excellent article admin.

Mitch Daniels reminds me of a scared little kid, Roomney as well, just watch Waffles will call them a racist, and both will go crying and hide in a little corner trying to prove their nonexistant racism.

I see only Palin, Cain, Trump, even Huckabee who will fight back against the Obot machine, each fighting back at a different effort level.

The country’s going to hell in a handbasket, if no one is will to fight back, well, then we should all just sit back and watch Waffles implode (unfortunatley he will take the country down with him), there are a lot of stupid people and they vote, and if they vote for this clown in the WH again in ’12, not much this country can do, after all its not just that Waffles is bad, but the more dangerous part are the people who were and are stupid enough to vote for him.

Shock… Guess who came on right after Huckabee – Donald TRUMP!!!!!
    ————–

Yes, and it was taped, showing that Trump knew Huck was not running…..

  9. so Trump came on Hucakbee’s show after he announced he’s not running? really? I second that whoa!

  10. I still stand by what I said, Trump and Huck met for a sit down, who knows what they talked about. Possibly Huck running later as his VP????

Trump seemed pretty happy with it.

  11. I remember Huckabee was one of the few repubs who used to praise Bill clinton and HIllary as well, said many of their AR programs they develops were so good which is why he kept them when he was governor.

who knows? maybe Trump and huckabee had a soul to soul.

  12. Hang on to your hats! We’re right again. The update to the article we just posted:

  13. Admin – I didn’t get a chance to read your post above yet, was just back from the store…but from you last post, looks like we are talking about something similar.

  14. wow, so Trump knew this inside info, I think huckabee really knows just how much trouble this country is in, and he hates rommeny, and wants a fighter, a real fighter who will fight extremely hard to beat Waffles.

  15. Gosh I hope the powers that be were watching that annoucement live–would have loved to seen their faces when Trump came on the screen…

  16. wow, admin, I just reread your post again, uncanny. Absolutely uncanny. I will bet no one on the right wing blogs even made the connection of seeing Trump appear so unexpectedly on Huckabee’s show at the end.

  17. Well, that made my day. With all the hype, I was afraid he would run. He has many qualities that I like, but I don’t see an edge with him. I have also seen and heard him speak favourably about the Clintons over the last few years, although he has been one of the few Republicans to do so. That tells me he has a mind of his own. Maybe he determined that he can do more on the outside than on the inside. He may see this as an election for the soul of America. If so, I think he made the right decision. Maybe all of the hype surrounding this announcement was to give a platform to Trump.

  18. So it will be Trump/Huckabee. Just as they artificially created an economic crisis in 2008, look for Obuma people to create a foreign policy crisis in 2012. Or am I jumping the gun, missing the mark, way off base.. 🙂

  19. Gack, just looked at a photo of Mitch Daniels to see who he is, that guy doesn’t have a chance in Hell of winning. From the time’s I have seen him on tv before, he is a dud.

  20. Huckabee will not be a VP candidate. We believe Huckabee will endorse Donald Trump. It’s possible he might endorse Mitch Daniels – but we don’t believe it. It’s Trump he will endorse.

  21. Trump said, Huckabee not running would make other candidates happy, but a lost opportunity (or something like that) and that he (Huckabee) will be happy, he is building a house in Florida.

    So it will be Trump/Huckabee.
    ————-
I don’t know pm if we are fruitcakes for thinking this, but I have been wondering if this is a real possiblity.

Trump, bad cop. Huck, good cop.
Huck would bring in the religious right and maybe the R party while Trump runs the show.

They both had a little smile while saying Huck would not run for Pres. I could be totally wrong, but it sure makes perfect sense to me.

  23. Big Cat Lover, the medium is the message. What matters is that Trump came on immediately after Huckabee. Watch everyone else catch up to our analysis weeks from now.

As to what Trump said word for word, it was something like Huckabee is a great American. Trump said nothing memorable, just pablum. But that Huckabee chose him to appear on the Huck’s biggest show ever — wow.

  24. Personally, I hope Trump does not want the Huck as his VP, I would rather he ask Hillary. 😉 Then he fixes the financial part while she fixes the health care bs. Then Trump doesn’t run in 2016 and Hillary finally takes the top job.

This is my hope if Hillary doesn’t run in 2012, but then again, I am probably wrong.

  25. No way, is Hillary going to play second fiddle to another man as a VP. That is such a huge demotion for our lady.

  26. Admin: Daniels problem is indeed his wife. She is bi-polar. She left him and his four children to rush off to California and marry a surgeon. Later they divorced and back to Indiana she came. She cannot be expected to fulfill the duties on the campaign trail or as first lady. It is a reverse Eagleburger problem. I do not know that this has come out yet, but it will.

  27. Thinking of Trump coming on and saying Huck won’t run is really mind blowing. The transaction was so sudden, right after Huck finished talking…not only shows it was known by Trump and Huck to do this, but that the networks and Media were kept out of the loop. Fox is just taking all this like nothing happened…so far.

  28. Admin
I get the significance of Trump’s appearance after Huck’s announcement so all Huckabee’s fans can see him and make the connection. Was just wondering how he handled it.

ShadowFax, AmericanGal, we second that “whoa”.

    ———-
Yes Admin, this is huge and amazing that the media isn’t reporting this tsunami that just hit.

  30. I keep turning to Fox to see if they have processed this and will talk about it, but so far Shadowfax is right, nothing.

  31. Well, well, for a fair price and all..from Allahpundit

Huntsman and Huckabee had dinner recently.

  32. If so, it was like BOOM, after Huck shut his mouth, there was Trump on re-announcing it for Huck. Saying what Admin said, and Trump was putting his stamp on it, with a tiny smile and very confident.

It was like an endorsement of what Huck said, and that Huck should be happy with his good job, nice house he is building…etc.

I took it that Trump was with Huck, not attacking him, saying for Huck to enjoy his life for now and others running would be happy Huck was not running.

The timing of it was the most significant. If this came on an hour later, or the next day it wouldn’t show a tie between the two of them.

  33. Admin. I do not see Huck endorsing Daniels. They are natural competitors not allies. I do see him joining Trump. To win the Republican nomination, you must have support from the Evangelicals. Huck can provide that for Trump. What Trump provides to Huck is a broad reach outside Arkansas and the deep south. Also, they compliment each other well in terms of personal styles. I expected this move initially when I heard they met. Then I talked myself out of it earlier today due to a simple metaphor Huck used. If you are going to pull out, the metaphor is bail, not pull the trigger. Pull the trigger means getting in. Evidently, the plain meaning was wrong in this instance.

  34. Huntsman is bad medicine. Erickson has taken him to task. I believe he is the real Rove candidate. A top Republican operative told me that a couple years ago–I mentioned that conversation here.

  35. On just about every other website they are scratching their heads about Trump’s appearance. On every other website they do not see the significance of what happened tonight.

  36. Palin supporters are thinking this is an opening for her. Trump and Huck tonight may be a coup against establishment candidates.

  37. I missed watching this show, I hope someone on youtube posts it, I’ve never seen huckabee’s show before, but I’m very cuurios to see this one.

  38. Rush Limbaugh sees the ruse in pushing Daniels as the candidate:

The Washington Post, everybody knows, is gonna vote for Obama; is gonna do everything it can to reelect Obama. Now, I’m sorry, folks, but I can’t help it. I live in Realville…. and if I got Ruth Marcus here writing about how she wants Mitch Daniels to run for president and win the Republican nomination but wants Obama to win, then something tells me that she believes that Mitch Daniels would pose not that big a challenge.

  39. http://www.thestatecolumn.com/articles/donald-trump-wishes-mike-huckabee-good-luck/

Donald Trump made an appearance during former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee’s announcement late Saturday, wishing Mr. Huckabee good luck as he forgos a run for president in 2012.

He is a terrific guy, and I think he’d be a terrific president, but a lot of people are very happy that he will not be running, especially other candidates,” Mr. Trump said. “So Mike, enjoy the show, your ratings are terrific, you’re making a lot of money, you’re building a beautiful house in Florida, good luck.

The appearance by the real estate mogul seemed to indicate he is increasingly considering entering the upcoming presidential campaign.

Mr. Trump, a potential Republican presidential candidate, has floated the possibility of seeking the nation’s highest office, however, a number of recent polls show support for a Trump candidacy waning.

That said, the Saturday night appearance came with a tone of joy for Mr. Trump, who likely saw Mr. Huckabee’s support as problematic.

Mr. Trump’s appearance followed Mr. Huckabee’s announcement that he will not seek the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. “All the factors say, ‘Go,’ but my heart says, ‘No,’ ” Mr. Huckabee said on his Fox News show. ” I will not seek the Republican nomination for President this year. I will gladly continue doing what I do and helping others in their campaigns for Congress, governorships, and other positions.”

  40. from the link:

“In the closing seconds of Mike Huckabee’s Fox News program, waning (undeclared) GOP hopeful Donald Trump became the second source to report the scoop that Huckabee will not run for president in 2012. ”

“waning”??? are these people kidding me? I don’t know if mediate is a right or left leaning blog, but what a bunch of idiots.

  41. Thanks Shadowfax for the link:

    http://www.mediaite.com/tv/trump-is-2nd-to-report-news-that-mike-huckabee-will-not-run-for-president/

In the closing seconds of Mike Huckabee’s Fox News program, waning (undeclared) GOP hopeful Donald Trump became the second source to report the scoop that Huckabee will not run for president in 2012. Those still consumed with suspense over Trump’s own run can look for clues in Trump’s odd congratulatory message, namely that he is dismayed that Huckabee isn’t running, while he says “other candidates” are “especially happy” that Huck won’t be running.

Trump’s message to Huckabee, entertainingly enough, could easily be repurposed as a message to himself if and when he announces his own non-run. Trump said, “So Mike, enjoy the show, your ratings are terrific, you’re making a lot of money…”

Here’s Trump’s “announcement,” from Fox News:

  42. “The Washington Post, everybody knows, is gonna vote for Obama; is gonna do everything it can to reelect Obama. ”

And this is what Trump would openly say, the man is not shy from a fight, with Waffles or the media that protects him.

Admin — here is Trump’s interview on CNBC on Friday, some idiot NYT deliberated misquoted and painted a story about Trump that was false, the NYT Michael Barrosa? was scheduled to be on, Trump then also unscheduled accepted the invitation to appear at the same time, and guess what happens?? The NYT reporter backs out the interview, Trump still comes on, and calls that NYT reporter a liar, a coward, and all sorts of other things.

Here is the CNBC interview from Friday: http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=3000021840

  43. Looking at the video of Huck and Trump, at what point did the Donald become a member of Fox, where he is the person that announces ‘Breaking News’?????

  44. Re: the discussion on “African” for BO Sr’s race. The short form released earlier also said “African” – whether real or fraudulent, the longer form *had* to also say it. So it’s been out there for a long time (since they put the short form image on the net), but its possible significance doesn’t seem to have caught fire with a wider audience than those already interested.

  45. Tim, I picked up a copy of Michael Reagan’s book The New Reagan Revolution. Gingrich wrote the introduction. It is very well written and provides a clear lens through which to view current events and one possible path forward, which does not involved ending American supremacy, creating inextinguishable debt and being ruled by a bevy of Platonic guardians which is the current direction we see from the dims. One of its many contributions to our understanding is to call the game on George Soros, by pointing out how Obama is his puppet, how he pushed Obama to pass Obama care, how he pushed cap and trade, how he plays footsie with Brazil and how world leaders in eastern Europe are utterly convinced of that Soros is in charge. That is consistent with what Mrs. Smith, Confloyd and I concluded two years ago when we called Soros Obama’s godfather. At that time I am sure many people believed that I was a conspiracy nut, but if that is true, then at least I have more company. This book will also be part of the Gingrich roadmap for pursuing the nomination. Finally, while Jay Cost maintains that the Democratic Primary was a fight between competing classes wherein Hillary represented the working class and Obama represented the elites, it was also a contest between competing visions of our future, wherein Hillary embraced the Roosevelt vision which was based on nationalism and safety nets where all boats rise with the tide, while Obama embraced to Soros vision which involves ending American exceptionalism, crony capitalism, cap and trade and open borders. I think you would like this book. Interestingly, over one third of Reagans support came from Democrats.

  46. I meant to add, Trump didnt just go after the NYT reporter who got scared and backed out of a scheduled interview when he heard Trump was also going to be on at the same time, Trump also relentlessly went after the NYT itself.

They are trying to do to Trump what the did to Mccain with that lobbyist intern story. The difference Trump will fight back, and isnt afraid to fight back.

  47. Laura Bush called Mrs. Daniels.. looks like Bush people want Daniels to run but Obama will eat Daniels for lunch. So can we deduce that Bush people (read Rove) want Obama to win again?

  48. Shadowfax, it was astonishing to see. Huckabee makes his announcement, the breaking news stuff starts, Donald Trump looking like the cat that ate the canary comes on, feathers sticking out the sides of his mouth, and mutters sweet nothings to Huckabee – on the biggest ratings night ever of the Huckabee show. And tomorrow night, Trump is on again on his hit TV show.

  49. What would be the significance of Trump announcing and wishing Huck good luck as a ‘Breaking News’ item, attached to Huck’s show?

To me, it proves that Donald WILL run for President.

Why go to all this trouble if he is just going to bow out like Huck????

Wonderful, thanks for the recommendation, I’ll soon borrow it from my library. I was one of those Reagan democrats, so I agree with your assessment in your post. Hillary, and I see the same in Palin, Trump and even to a certain extent Cain, that “all boats rise with the tide”, that sense of safety net, american exceptionalism, etc.
At this point, any repub (and I shudder to say this) would be better that Waffles, Waffles is for Waffles, which means there are no principles, no core of belief, nothing there; except how it is advantegous to him. Its almost like evict this fool, let some repub come in, and then have a common sense pro-America, pro-middle class JFK type democrat come after that.

Yes Admin, feathers and all, I think this is Trump’s way of announcing his candidacy, tongue or bird in cheek.

  52. Shadow, I don’t know if this has already been posted, but there’s a rumor that Trump asked him to be his running mate.

Republicans should toss it back onto Gingrich’s head and kindly ask him to go away. He is the wrong man to lead the GOP to victory in November 2012.

Gingrich’s intellect, tenacity, and perseverance helped Republicans secure the House of Representatives in 1994, ending Democrats’ 40-year majority. That achievement notwithstanding, Gingrich’s flaws glowed beneath the glare of national leadership. And there they remain.

Gingrich is no happy warrior. He snarls more than smiles. Rather than speak, he hectors. Gingrich lectures rather than inspires audiences, as if he was their father, and they had misbehaved. His abrasive tone will chafe voters long before he ever gets an opportunity to snap at them from the Oval Office.

Also grating, Gingrich cannot say “America.” It’s pronounced A-MEHR-i-ca, not A-MORE-i-ca, as Gingrich puts it.

Gingrich’s non-stylistic failings are far graver. After admirably holding promised House votes on the Contract with America’s 10 planks, Gingrich had no Act II. He waffled on fighting Big Government. Among other things, he rescued the notorious sugar program and let Republicans launch their disastrous expansion of earmarks. Just last January, Gingrich defended ethanol subsidies and complained that a pattern of “big city attacks” on ethanol “hurts the farmer. It hurts rural America, and it’s fundamentally unfair to America’s future.” Rather than advocate ending ethanol mandates, Gingrich wants a new one: a federal requirement enabling all cars to consume ethanol or methane.

Gingrich’s man-crush on Bill Clinton made him falter in legislative negotiations with the former president.

“I melt when I’m around him,” Gingrich purred in January 1996. “After I get out, I need two hours to detoxify. My people are nervous about me going in there because of the way I deal with this.”

Gingrich also ensnared himself in needless controversies such as an ill conceived, multi-million-dollar book deal and a hissy fit regarding the utter humiliation of deplaning Air Force One via a rear door. As The Wall Street Journal editorialized, “It’s time for him to finish growing up.”

Gingrich’s biggest vulnerability, however, is his uber-colorful personal life.

Like him or not, President Obama has been married for 19 years to Michelle — his first and only wife. By every indication, he has been faithful to her.

In jarring contrast, Gingrich — an inexplicable hero to many social conservatives — has lived like a guest at the Playboy Mansion. After leaving Jackie Battley, his first wife, Gingrich found another, Marianne Ginther. He then strayed from Ginther with House staffer Callista Bisek, now his third wife.

Gingrich cavorted with his subordinate during Bill Clinton’s impeachment for lying under oath about cavorting with his subordinate, Monica Lewinsky. Gingrich’s failure to zip his zipper under such volatile circumstances confirmed his breathtaking immaturity. Had this dalliance surfaced before the November 1998 mid-term elections, the staggering hypocrisy would have triggered America’s gag reflex.

Voters would have catapulted Republicans from atop the Capitol Dome, and given Democrats the House and Senate. Gingrich’s lack of self-control jeopardized the entire conservative agenda. Luckily for the Right and its ideas, Gingrich did not get caught with his pants down.

Gingrich now calls patriotism his aphrodisiac. As he told the Christian Broadcasting Network: “There’s no question at times in my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate.”

If Republicans nominate Gingrich, Democrats will carpet-bomb him relentlessly with a simple message: “Ladies, can you trust a man who treats women like this?” Look-alike actors may recreate Gingrich’s request for a divorce from Wife No. 1 as she was hospitalized after breast-cancer surgery. Democrats might organize breast-cancer sufferers to haunt Gingrich with picket signs that read “Newt: Mean to breast-cancer patients; mean to America.”

Given these tawdry facts, if Republicans endorse Newt Gingrich for president, they will earn the ensuing electoral Nagasaki.

But even if this is the pre=announcement by Trump, why would Huck go along with it unless they are somehow connected?
    __________

Isn’t it obvious? Huck will throw his support to Trump and campaign for him! Trump draws the Evangelicals and Conservatives.

  58. I do not think many in the media and other political circles will understand the affinity Huckabee and Franklin Graham may have for Trump as they see them from entirely different worlds which to a large extent is true. But there is something very different about Trump. His mother was from the Highlands of Scotland, specifically the Outer Hebrides. Trump is all over the place on stating his religion but it is always Protestant. He also has never drank alcohol, smoked, or used drugs. This is very significant to Southern Baptists especially ones like Huckabee and Graham. It denotes strong moral fiber, character, self control and a direct link to his mother’s being raised around the Free Church of Scotland which is very old time Calvinist and very strict. This observation by a back sliding old Baptist like myself may not be understood by the elites but I assure you it is a part of Trump’s appeal. His emerging populism which the elites hate with a vengeance is the other part of his attractiveness as a candidate.

santroom, No. Ron Paul (agree with him a lot on fiscal issues), No. who else is left? Palin (if she runs), No, like her a lot, but she will not win in the general unfortunately.

So the establishment repub have to decide, will take take their marbles off the playground and leave in a huff if their candidate doesn’t win? do they even want to win? or just say they oppose Waffles enough to fight sort of, but not fight too hard to get disinvited from the DC beltway cocktale parties?

His reasons for stepping in the race in the first place is not for the presidency itself, but fixing what Obama has NOT done to resurrect the economy and create jobs. Basically Trump is inserting himself into the race is to prevent further ruination of the country. That being said, I believe he will step aside as soon as job growth and the economy are on an upward trend. Theres no reason to label this as quitting. He is more interested in saving America knowing the only way to get the job done… is thru the O/O… and giving the last guy a swift kick to the curb.. !

So can we deduce that Bush people (read Rove) want Obama to win again?

    ……..

Yes. That is their game plan all along. They believe after 2 terms of Obambi, it is a shoo in for Jeff Bush. That is why they did not want McCain to win and now the country is not yet ready for another Bush. If some how they make the Fraud a 2 term POTUS, they believe Bush name will lose its stigma as the Fraud takes the mantle of the WORST PRESIDENT EVER from W and they can push Jeff Bush for POTUS and win.

  69. So can we deduce that Bush people (read Rove) want Obama to win again?

Yea, that is a loaded statement.

  73. There is one Political Party running Congress. Republicats who have agreed Obama is their man willing to soil his hands by destroying America’s economy, debilitating the US to the level of a Third World country and completely destroying the Middle Class.

And the future plans may include, Jeb Bush stepping-in in 2016 reversing the tarnished image of the last Bush occupying the O/O.

  74. Hillary as VP. Six months in Trump resigns. Hillary in in 2012. Forget 2016.

Nice thought but hard to imagine eiter of them doing this. It would mean a 3-way race, which might split the Dem/liberal vote and elect a Republican. The Clintons seem to want Obama re-elected as better than any GOP.

I don’t see the problem if it is agreed, Hillary can step up to the presidency unscathed by the vultures who are prepared to tear her heart out if she ran on her own.

I think Trump could give a flying fig if anyone called him a quitter. He doesn’t bow to ridicule or petty thinking.. Sarah Palin is not a quitter either. They were bleeding her dry financially with frivolous lawsuits. Palin withdrew as governor to stop working 24/7 funding attorney fees and court proceedings giving her little time to attend to family matters and pursuit of her poltical aspirations. imo- she made the right choice and to Hell with anyone calling her a quitter.

  76. Can’t get excited about any of these Repubs, although I enjoy watching Trump beat up on BooBoo. If Hillary doesn’t run in 2012, I’m staying home.

  77. I would imagine that Rove and the Bushes do NOT want to see Christie run with Rubio as a running mate.

Perhaps they want to save Rubio to run with Jeb.

Never say never…as in…after Bush Jr., I never thought I’d vote for a Republican but then along came THE FRAUD and there I was doing just what I’d said I’d never do.

But at this point I can’t ever see voting for another BUSH.

  78. Brendon Doherty, former Chief of the RI State Police, is throwing his hat in the ring and will oppose newly elected former Providence Mayor David Cicillini in the midterms. This after a supposed falling out with Gov. Chafee.

  79. Mormaer, another not discussed aspect of tonight is the unity from Republicans/conservatives against the establishment. Sarah Palin came to Trump’s defense when he was under attack. Now Huckabee features Trump on his big night.

BTW, the JournoListers are in a bit of a shock. Maggie Haberman wrote this:

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0511/54982.html

In fact, he noted, in what seemed a reference to Pawlenty, “my name would sometimes go unmentioned as some candidates (who) barely register” in single digits were discussed as credible candidates.

In a cheeky maneuver, Huckabee had Donald Trump do a statement at the end of the hour.

“Cheeky” is the best the JournoListers can do tonight. They’ll regroup and aided and abetted by some Republicans will seek to tear down Trump, again.

  80. Anybody in the mood to bump this up a few government levels and recall a fake potus?

KNIGHT: Throw out the bums before Election Day
Recall fever is becoming contagious from coast to coast

    By Robert Knight
    The Washington Times
    May 13, 2011

In Wymore, Conn., voters got fed up with a councilman who kept leaving meetings. So, on Tuesday, they voted him out in a recall election. It’s part of a nationwide pattern as people discover that they don’t have to wait until the next election to throw the bums out. In Chattanooga, Tenn., a recall effort against Democratic Mayor Ron Littlefield has been tied up in court since September. Organizers who filed an appeal are not giving up, and they say they expect the case to go to the Tennessee Supreme Court.

In Florida, tax-happy Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez, a Republican, was recalled on March 15 when 88 percent of voters gave him the boot.

In Omaha, Neb., voters on Jan. 25 narrowly failed to remove Democratic Mayor Jim Suttle. As Ballotpedia puts it, “Under Suttle’s mayoral stint, property taxes increased 15 percent, despite a campaign promise not to do so. The ‘wheel tax’ on cars grew more than 40 percent, from $35 to $50. Restaurants were also handed a 2.5 percent tax increase.”

In Akron, Ohio, USA Today reports, “lawyer Warner Mendenhall led a failed 2009 effort to recall Mayor Don Plusquellic, a Democrat who has been in office 23 years. ‘The spending has gotten out of hand,’ says Mendenhall, who calls himself a liberal Democrat. ‘The mayor had spent us into a deep, deep hole and needed to go.’ ”

Of course, recall is a two-edged sword. In Wisconsin, nine senators – six Republicans and three Democrats – are facing recall elections this summer over Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s bold move to end much of the state’s collective bargaining with public employee unions. In Ohio, public employee unions are pushing a bill aimed at recalling Republican Gov. John Kasich for backing a new law that sharply curbs public-union power.

In Illinois, voters approved a new law in November that allows recall of the governor. In 2003, California voters dumped Democratic Gov. Gray Davis in a recall election.

In West Virginia, which allows cities to recall elected officials, a bill was introduced to extend recall to federal elected officials but did not pass before the legislature adjourned on March 18.

In January, four Republican legislators in Hawaii co-sponsored H.B. 197, a broadly worded recall law that could include federal officials. It did not get a hearing in the Democrat-dominated Judiciary Committee before the session ended on May 5.

And so it goes across the land. Recalls have become such a threat to incumbents that the U.S. Conference of Mayors released a video on April 12 at the National Press Club titled, “Recall Fever: Stop the Madness.” The 30-minute documentary looks at recall campaigns in Omaha, Miami, Akron and Chattanooga. A panel of mayors was convened to address “the destructive and costly impact of local recall elections [and] to share survival strategies.”

A conference press release noted that 57 mayors “faced recall attempts last year, up from 23 in 2009” and that 15 mayors already had been targeted in 2011. At its meeting June 17 through 21 in Baltimore, the conference will hear from embattled politicians, including Rep. Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat. Now, there’s a canny selection. If anyone can give tips on how to keep a tin ear regardless of public sentiment, that would be the former House speaker and now minority leader.

Sacramento, Calif.-based Tea Party activist Christina Botteri, a founding member of the National Tea Party Federation and Nationwide Tea Party Coalition, said recalls appeal greatly to Tea Party members, who are growing impatient with both parties.

“Across the country, people are getting wise to the fact that they don’t have to suffer under the wrath of a bad elected official until Election Day,” she said. “We’re seeing more and more constituents, outraged at misrepresentations by their officeholders, taking matters into their own hands through the recall process.”

Tom Cochran, CEO and executive director of the mayors conference, told USA Today: “There is inside this country right now an anti-tax, anti-spending mood. It’s a new thing in America: We’re going to kick you out of office. They don’t have to wait anymore.”

Actually, recall has been around since before the American Revolution (see recalltherogues.org) and most current state recall laws were enacted at the turn of the 20th century. Nine states have such broadly worded recall laws affecting “any,” “all” or “every” elected official that they may include U.S. senators. Another 29 provide for recall of either state or local officials.

New Jersey’s recall law, enacted in 1995, explicitly includes members of Congress. Last year, New Jersey Tea Party groups tried to recall Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez over his votes on Obamacare and other spending, but the state Supreme Court delayed a decision on the petition, making the issue moot because Mr. Menendez will be on the 2012 ballot.

In light of an increasingly restive public, Ms. Botteri has some advice for officeholders who might be tempted to write off “recall fever” as a temporary ailment:

“If I could send a message to those politicians defying their constituency: Take a few minutes today to become familiar with the recall process in your state. I guarantee your electorate is.”

Birth certificate doesn’t meet Hawaii standards

    WND ^ | May 14, 2011 | Drew Zahn

A previously unexplained anomaly in the Obama long-form birth certificate released by the White House has now become even more suspicious, as WND has learned the document does not conform to Hawaii’s standard practice for issuing certified copies of birth certificates.

While the governor’s office maintains Obama was given a certified copy of his birth certificate, and while Hawaii – WND has learned – includes an embossed seal to complete the certification, the raised seal on the image posted by the White House … is missing.

Furthermore, an official with the Vital Statistics Section of Hawaii’s Department of Health told WND, a document without the seal “may not be a certified copy.”

  84. now we have imams in America aiding the talibhan. In florida, there were some arrests today.

    http://www.longwarjournal.org/archives/2011/05/us_charges_6_pakista.php

“The US Department of Justice has charged six Pakistani Americans today with aiding the Pakistani Taliban. Three of those charged, including two imams at mosques in southern Florida, have been arrested, while three others are currently in Pakistan.

The six people have been identified as Hafiz Muhammed Sher Ali Khan; his two sons, Irfan and Izhar; his daughter Amina and her son Zeb; and another man known as Faisal Ali Rehman.

Hafiz and Izhar were arrested in Florida today, while Irfan was arrested in Los Angeles. Amina, Zeb, and Rehman are currently in Pakistan, beyond the reach of US officials.

Both Hafiz and Izhar are imams at mosques in southern Florida. Hafiz is the imam at the Miami Mosque, which is also known as the Flagler Mosque. Izhar is the imam at the Jamaat Al-Mu’mineen Mosque in Margate.

The six Pakistani Americans have been charged with “conspiring to provide, and providing, material support to a conspiracy to murder, maim and kidnap persons overseas, as well as conspiring to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, specifically, the Pakistani Taliban,” the Department of Justice said in a press release issued today. In addition to the conspiracy charges, Hafiz, Rehman, and Zeb have also been charged with “providing material support to the Pakistani Taliban.”

“The defendants sought to aid the Pakistani Taliban’s fight against the Pakistani government and its perceived allies, including the United States, by supporting acts of murder, kidnapping and maiming in Pakistan and elsewhere, in order to displace the lawful government of Pakistan and to establish strict Islamic law known as Sharia,” the statement continued.

The Department of justice singled out Hafiz for “founding and controlling” a madrassa, or religious school for Muslims, in the district of Swat in Pakistan. The madrassa has been used by the Pakistani Taliban to train child terrorists to kill US troops in Pakistan.”

I was wondering about the embossed seal. I know when I had to pay for a copy of my BC from Michigan, it had an embossed seal. For some reason, that made it seem more official than just a copy off a photocopy machine. My BC was on fancy white paper, not the green chicken hatches Barry’s is on.

  88. In the end, Huckabee decided that he didn’t want to abandon the media empire that he has built since his failed presidential bid four years ago. In addition to his TV show, Huckabee hosts a nationally syndicated radio program, gives paid speeches around the country and has even launched a series of animated videos for children on American history.

The talk show is the centerpiece of Huckabee’s enterprises, which have made the one-time Baptist preacher from Hope, Ark., and 10-year governor a wealthy man with a $2.2 million beachfront home under construction in Florida. Huckabee, 55, and his wife moved their residency and voter registration to the state last year.

I think you are correct. The Evangelicals are tired of the vote for me then shut up and sit down of the establishment Republicans. Obama and his minions ran off roughly half of the Democratic Party by rigging primaries and conventions and got it in the face in the midterms. The self identifying independents are growing. Ratings and subscriptions for traditional media continue to shrink so they have less and less influence (the Obama enabling media continue to have to seek alternate employment- Bye Katie you fool). I am so far past caring about any political party I can’t begin to tell you. I don’t care who wins as long as he/she is the leader this country needs, or as close as we can come to the leader we need.

How did they convince us to belong to this party or that party so much so that they could lie, cheat and steel from us and still expect our support. No more, not from me. And I am one of those who would like more then two parties. We can’t make any other parties viable unless we vote for their candidates and the two party system has us convinced we are throwing away our votes if we do.

  100. Ah, I see what they did- Obama sent a personal envoy to HI for the certified copy of the BC. (I think it was TD that made mention of who it was.) The BC was hand delivered back to the WH and that is where the changes to HI’s certified copy was made and why the amateur doing the changes made so many noticeable mistakes. Worst of all leaving off the seal of certification.

    ========================

And the HI officials who made the real certified copy haven’t noticed the difference, or haven’t spoken up — why? What nonsense. If there was a real certified copy, why would the WH change it? More likely, HI didn’t bother with the certification stamp (if it’s really missing).

  101. And oh, I can’t wait to see where Obama is going to hide so that he doesn’t have to debate Donald Trump. No wonder Obama is paying millions to speech coaches. Is there a pill they can give him to keep his mind focused? Think they will try to implant some kind of wireless device in Obama’s ear, Bush’s back pack was so evident. It would be fun to sit in the front row with a signal jammer.

  102. Mormaer:

Your insights are shrewd, thought provoking and on target. My response is line by line…

“The Evangelicals are tired of the vote for me then shut up and sit down of the establishment Republicans.”

  103. lovely, just lovely. So more and more controlled by Waffles and his czars, who the f*ck are these dems? I remember a time when both repubs and dems wanted a limited small govt responsive to the people. Now they want their fingers in everything, and have people appointed with no need to get the consent of the governed. Just do whatever the hell they want, with no input or say from the people who they are ruling in ways of getting rid of these people. Slowly moving away from a representative democracy.

C’mon- don’t be so naive. They don’t want to get involved in Obama’s imbroglio. HI officals sent what they have on file and the WH changed the information Obama doesn’t want us to know- Could be something like his father was African/Muslim… I’m waiting until Corsi’s book reveals what he has discovered. Most likely he has the answers to fill in those blanks.

That was a comment from a black conservative which I posted about Newt. I posted it as a counterpoint to my own comments about him which lean the other way. The Republican establishment is suspicious of Newt because he is a man of principle. What they want is men of principle and interest–their interest now ours. I met Newt, my friend was part of his inner circle, and he has a better grasp of the issues confronting this country and their solutions than anyone I know other than Hillary.

I feel just the opposite about Daniels. For my money he is a puppet much like Obama and Bush Jr. His experience in government and budget is a potential plus. His wife is a negative. But the biggest negative from my standpoint is his the fact that he came from a drug company, which was part of the cabal that got Obama to agree to keep cost effective Canadian drugs out of this country to the detriment of seniors who lack money but desperately need them, like my mother.

The question we should be asking about him at this point is why his star has risen so quickly. Is he really the greatest thing since cherries jubilee, or is there some other explanation. Putting aside the fact that he pulled Indiana out of a hole, just like Evan Bayh pulled Indiana out of a hole, just like anybody else they want to promote pulled their state out of a hole why is he a rising star?

I will tell you exactly what I think. I think there is a conspiracy to control our government. The puppet masters are the leaders of commerce and finance. And since we have abandoned our manufacturing sector, the latter have become pre eminent. I am not alone in that view. The same has been said by a wide variety of people who are in the know, from Justice Frankfurter, to Walter Cronkite, to Shelton Wollin, to Chris Hedges, etc. And if testimonials from these people are not enough, you need only examine the FEC reports, and you will see for yourself where the real support if coming from.

If you accept that premise, then the answer to the question of why an obscure governor from a second tier state is poised to become the toast of the town becomes more obvious: he was senior vice president of Eli Lilly. Stop reading his cv right there–and think about it. In 2008 the business interests installed a candidate who they believed they could control. He loved only two things: adulation and money. In that sense he was a cheap date for them. But Lord knows a very expensive one for the American People.

However, what they found in the fulsomeness of time, was that there was only one member of the elites who really controlled him–and his interests were hostile to his. I refer of course to the last living Nazi–George Soros. Michael Reagan’s recent book reiterates what some of us on this blog have been saying about him well before Beck and the rest of the country was listening. And now, in the colorful language of his spiritual advisor those chickens have come home to roost.

If I am right, the business interests who control the political process have had a belly full of this reincarnation of Prime Minister Trudeau, this celebrity radical president, this George Soros/Jeff Imelt/Goldman Sachs puppet. The proof lies in the fact that they have parked $3 trillion on the sidelines, to avoid the palpable business risks created by the Obama agenda, by way of taxes and regulations. They tried to stop the bleeding by bringing in Bill Daley, but he does not have the ear of Obama like Jarret does and rumors of her imminent demise are in the words of Mark Twain–greatly exaggerated. She will not go until he goes. That is a given.

Consequently, the elites do not want this guy for another four years. They have lost whatever enthusiasm they once had for this Obama nevish. They know there is alot of inertia to overcome especially in the media. But they also know they have got to do it.

Enter Mitch Daniels. He has risen in a corporate environment. He has proven his fealty to them and their agenda. He brings the drug companies who control the medical community back into the stable of Republican donors. He lacks charisma. But is they can build up his resume and take down Obama over his track record of failure, then they are betting he will have an open running field in front of him. In that case, they can screw Soros who is determined to hog the ball (its cleaner than a bullet), and they can put their man in.

That is why Bush supports him, why Laura called his bi polar wife who is hestitant as she should be and it is why Karl Rove is so keen on destroying a true populist like Trump–and preventing a problemsolver like Gingrich from getting traction. He will have to be more subtle with Newt.

  107. The union bosses’s corruption, the members don’t count & are beaten up for speaking out, are bullied by their union bosses, these union bosses endorsed Waffles, the members voted for Hillary and then Mccain/Palin.

    http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2011/05/15/2011-05-15_clam_up_or_else_union_whistleblowers_we_were_beaten_and_harassed.html

“Unionized phone company employees say they were beaten or threatened after they accused their labor bosses of looting their coffers through various scams.

One member of Communications Workers of America (CWA) Local 1101 said that after he reported a time-sheet padding scheme, a thug beat him so badly his spine was injured.

Another says he found a dead rat in his locker, while a third said a union officer warned that suspected informants should be brought off company property and ”taken care of.”

The threats come to light as the U.S. Labor Department is probing charges that union bosses lined their pockets at the rank-and-file’s expense.

Accusations include an unauthorized 401(k) plan union officers gave themselves funded with members’ dues, along with hefty weekly allowances, lavish expense accounts and six-figure salaries, union documents show.

The feds are also looking into allegations that double-dipping union bosses illegally received pay from Verizon and the local for the same hours, sources said.

“This was union greed and that’s worse than corporate greed,” said Kevin Condy, a reform movement leader of the 6,700-member local that represents mostly Verizon workers in Manhattan and the Bronx. ”These guys acted like they felt they were entitled.”

And, some members charge, the bosses retaliated when threatened with exposure.

  108. Mark Knoller’s of cBS reports that that PO$ from WH is now gone golfing again this morning, 68th time, the most for any president in America’s history.

  109. meant to say 7th consecutive week. most of any president in america’s history. I’m sure that record will be broken again. That’s really all this Waffles is good at.

  110. I saw this comment(below) on another blog, and wanted to repost it since I agree with it. It was in response to WafflesCare being slammed by the MayoClinic on how the quality of care will plummet even more under WafflesCare.
    http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_HEALTH_CARE_SETBACK?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2011-05-11-16-10-25

and this comment, I thought was very accurate, I don’t see how the govt can force people to buy something and fine them, jail them for it, its a private product, and it still doesn’t solve the basic problem of costs, there is access, its unafforable to many people, forcing people to buy health insurance isn’t going to solve the basic problem. Costs will go up, quality will go down, those that need help will still not get it.

    “We have a law that;
    1) A majority of the American public actively oppose,

    2) That the industry it applies to refuses to obey,

    3) Is impossible to implement on its face even if that industry tried,

    4) Which Means the regulatory bodies have no way to force even the facade of compliance by making examples of prominent scofflaws and,

    5) All the regulatory agencies can do is shut down existing healthcare facilities and further enrage the popular majority opposed while it erodes support for the law.

    Like I said, Pre-revolutionary.”

I agree with this comment, it is indeed pre-revolitionary, Roomney does get this, the healthcare system in MA has gone down the hill since it was enacted there, the waittime averages 50 days (for a physician, for a physican’s assiistat much less time), ER rooms are overfilled, there were several articles on this.

  111. meant to say “Roomney does not get this”. What does this man even stand for? there is proof his plan didn’t work and he still defends it.

Its time to file for your Own ObamaCare Waiver

Health and Human Services has made it very easy for companies to file for their own waiver to certain aspects of Obama Care. Given the personal mandate and challenges in getting health care insurance, perhaps each of us should be filling for a Waiver.

    The process is very easy:

    * Fill out an excel spreadsheet
    * Follow some instructions

Its unclear that we will get the waiver. And, I am sure there are a whole bunch of things the Obma administration has done to make it difficult, but at least we should lett HHS review a waiver from each of the 300M americans.

Please pass this post onto other people so they can get the needed information and file for their waiver.

If you post on twitter please use the hash tag: #waiver

The general website for waivers is:

Of course, personal attention is always helpful, so you might consider a detailed note to the program administrators at:

I am sure they would love to get a lot of emails asking for their help in filling out the paperwork, given the nice pension they have and all…..

Obama signs legislation to make supplements and alternative health remedies illegal

    September 14, 2010

Right through the back door, while everyone was focused on the gulf oil spill, Barack Obama gave his signature to legislation permitting the U.S. Government to outlaw supplements and alternative health treatments.

That means that the supplements you take and therapies you use to keep your body healthy, can now be made illegal by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Obama quietly gave permission for Codex Alimentarius – the United Nation’s worldwide plan for food standards – to take effect in the U.S. via Executive Order 13544 of June 10, 2010. The President’s decision creates the National Prevention, Health Promotion, and Public Health Council, a group of ‘experts’ that carry out whatever activities Obama deems appropriate.

According to an article, after five years of fighting this bill in Congress and the House, Obama has decided to try to kill the supplement and alternative health industry; all alternative health remedies can be deemed “unscientific” and not provable by the FDA, which can lead to them being banned.

It means that supplements may have to be removed from sale permanently, or have their potency capped at ultra low levels, making them almost worthless. The very same thing happened in Europe just a few years ago.

Ultimately, this legislation, signed by the very man whose claim to fame was “Change we need” and Change we can believe in” has these effects:

    1. REMOVES YOUR POWER OF CHOICE TO BE ABLE TO TAKE SUPPLEMENTS AND USE ALTERNATE THERAPIES;

    2. STOPS YOU FROM TAKING CARE OF YOUR HEALTH NATURALLY – YOU ARE FORCED TO HAVE TO RELY ON THE MEDICAL / PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRIES WHO AIM IS MAXIMUM PROFIT AND FOR YOU TO REMAIN SICK SO THEY CAN KEEP YOU HOOKED ON THEIR PRODUCTS;

    3. WILL FORCE YOU TO RELY ON LOW-STRENGTH, SYNTHETIC SUPPLEMENTS MADE BY PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES;

    4. OR FORCE YOU TO BUY EXPENSIVE, Rx ONLY HI-STRENGTH SYNTHETIC SUPPLEMENTS MADE BY THE $MULTI-BILLION PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES

If you read the executive order it seems quite positive. However, behind the vague words are a wide range of powers to do whatever the United Nations and Obama wants, including the adoption of legislation that bans therapies and supplements.

Did you vote for the president to remove your power of choice? Are you going to sit back and allow this to happen?
    _____________

Betty, you do not have to be an expert to read Executive Orders. Although sometimes they can be in complex form where you need to research other legislation or XO’s piecing together the meaning of one and seeing where the deletions and/or additions affect the changes made by the new XO. Never let anyone tell you… you can’t do something that is better left to experts. Experts can be paid to draw conclusions that belie their research. By doing your own research, at least you know your final conclusions are true and correct..

Stage N-1 : They’re all Bots covering for him.

    Stage N : They’re scared of him.

The circle of conspirators grows wider and wider. Several HI people saw the lfbc while making the actual photo. The actual lfbc is in a big book; the photo is now in the HI office computer — more and more HI office staff can see it if they try. The wider the circle of alleged conspirators gets (from koolaid or from fear), the more flimsy. (There’s also the WH people who would have to work on the alleged forged changes.)

  121. Betty my comments at 11:38 were supposed to be in response to your question. They went beyond it, and were not entirely responsive. Let me just say that I agree with you 100% I think there are two parties and they are distinctly different. But those two parties are not the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. Rather, they are the Establishment Party (comprised of Bush accolytes and Obama elitists)–which looks out for their interests only and the American People’s (comprised of tea party members and newly elected Republican members of the House). This is a key point–one that right wing evangelists understand and left wing secularists do not. Yes, the left if blind to this and as a result they are at a loss to explain why the man they invested all their hopes in has drifted off the reservation. And they rack their tiny brains to figure out how to bring him back into their fold. If they understood that he is part of the establishment, then they would realize the cause was hopeless. At that point they would have to support him on the sole grounds that he is radical chic and at the end of the day that is all they are really interested in. A fashion statement. Blacks on the other hand have been led down the primrose path. Same with hispanics. Unfortunate you say? No. They asked for it, they got it, Toyota.

This is why I say first if you line the executive orders this traitor has signed since coming into office they would stretch half way from here to the moon, and if you examine them closely you will find that they are toxic on their merits and inimical to the interests of the American People. Big media has a big task before them as they summon their legions to repel the attacks on Obama. It is akin to the problem that Rommel faced defending Nazi fortress Europe–so many points of attack, so many holes in the line of defense, close one and a new one opens. Islam and Pornography

Despite all of the speculation about why Osama bin Laden had a porn stash, we have overlooked one possible explanation.

Perhaps bin Laden was simply applying an old adage to his situation. When in Pakistan do as the Pakistanis do. Perhaps he was just adapting to the local customs.

Google reports that Pakistan leads the world in porn searches. One assumes that they lead the world in per-capita porn consumption too.

Kelli Morgan reports: “So here’s the irony: Google ranks Pakistan No. 1 in the world in searches for pornographic terms, outranking every other country in the world in searches per person for certain sex-related content.

“Pakistan is top dog in searches per-person for ‘horse sex’ since 2004, ‘donkey sex’ since 2007, ‘rape pictures’ between 2004 and 2009, ‘rape sex’ since 2004, ‘child sex’ between 2004 and 2007 and since 2009, ‘animal sex’ since 2004 and ‘dog sex’ since 2005, according to Google Trends and Google Insights, features of Google that generate data based on popular search terms.

“The country also is tops — or has been No. 1 — in searches for ‘sex,’ ‘camel sex,’ ‘rape video,’ ‘child sex video’ and some other searches that can’t be printed here.” Link here.

Writing on The Daily Beast Asra Nomani fills out the picture. She explains that other Islamic countries, like Iran and Egypt, also rank high when it comes to pornophilia. No one is surprised to discover that Saudi Arabia also makes the list. Link here.

Clearly, Islam frowns on the use of pornography, and has little use for its cousin, masturbation. (Did OBL pull his tunic up to keep his neck warm?)

Imams and other Islamic religious authorities have recognized the problem and have offered counsel about how to overcome pornoholism.

According to the Google statistics, Islamic pornoholics seem to have a taste for activities that I would class as extreme fetishes. I see this as a sign of pornoholism.

Men who are overexposed to erotic stimuli tend to be desensitized to more subtle stimuli. They often attempt to overcome this desensitization by seeking out more and more images of extreme sexual acts.

For the record, this is not the only path to extreme fetishes. Trauma too can cause a man to become fixated on a fetish. Yet, when we are talking about a national pastime, the chances are fairly good that we are dealing with the ravages of a bad habit, one that has become normative in the culture.

I doubt that very many of us are surprised to see these statistics. We all know that there is something radically wrong with the way these strictly Islamist cultures treat women, so it is not surprising that sexual desire has found an outlet that is more suited to adolescents.

These cultures have become notorious for oppressing and terrorizing women. They deprive women of the freedom to make the most elementary choices in life, and force them to wear outfits that de-sexualize and even de-face them. Husbands in these cultures are allowed to beat their wives and to ignore their wishes. One assumes that such wives have no real right to refuse spousal sexual advances. And we know that victims of sexual violence are often held responsible and even punished. The better to terrorize women….

None of this should be news. At the least, it seems fair to say that men in these extreme Muslim cultures are terrified of women. Or better, are terrified of being shamed by their women.

If they fear giving women a free choice of husbands, they must fear that these women would reject them. Thus, they will not even allow teenage girls to learn about their own desires through romantic courtship. Girls who transgress this rule are often murdered in what are falsely called “honor killings.”

Basic Darwinian theory tells us that men imprison women because they fear that women will cheat on them and trick them into supporting children who are not their own.

On another level, men who belong to a culture that has missed out on modernity, and that cannot compete as providers for their wives and families, would not, normally, be considered desirable husbands.

This also explains the Islamist mania about destroying Western civilization. If Muslim women are tempted to marry Western men, the terrorists are saying that the greatest achievements of Western civilization are worthless and ultimately fragile. Was there a better symbol of Western success than the World Trade Center?

Men whose wives have been forced to marry them, forced to renounce romance, forced to stay married to them, and forced to have sex with them cannot feel a great deal of confidence in their manliness.

When faced with a phenomenon like Islamic pornophilia and pornoholism our culture provides a ready-made answer.

Asra Nomani quotes a professor from the University of North Carolina who offers that both Islam and pornography dehumanize women. Ergo, Islamic men turn on the porn because they are conditioned to see women dehumanized.

As with many culturally approved explanations, this one leaves much to be desired.

Allow me to offer a different explanation. Given the way these cultures treat women, you might imagine that Muslim men can have as much sex as they want.

What they cannot have are wives who desire them. Women may be forced to say Yes, but they cannot be forced to desire their husbands. For all I know the only way that these women can assert any measure of choice is by withholding all expressions of desire.

Female sexual desire is a powerful aphrodisiac. For a normal man, its absence diminishes his ardor. Perhaps, these men resort to pornography because that is the only place where they can find women who at least pretend to want them.

  129. This executive order banning supplements is another Volstead Act, and it will open up a similar black market. Why is he doing this? Why to protect the public as any good bot will tell you. That is what Obama is all about 24/7. Racist rumors of his lavish golfing exploits financed by big pharma contributors are . . . how shall I put it? . . . greatly exaggerated. Could it possibly be that both parties controlled by the same elite have figured out that the pharmacutetical industry is the growth industry of the future, the new general motors, and have given them a captive market protected from external (Canadian drugs0 or internal (supplements) competition. In the spirit of the Volstead Act–and those who defied it I give you this:

  130. I apologize for my cursing, everyday I see and hear and read something where more and more control is taken, more freedoms are taken away. And Waffles does all of it with a compliant press. And then we find out because american citizens are doing their own research online.

Instead of giving actual dates, Carney says things like ‘we requested it last Friday’ and ‘yesterday’, so I’ll leave it to trained legal minds to sort that out. 😉 But apparently there was only a day or two between bringing the paper copy to DC and getting the image online.

Doubtless that explains the clumsiness of the alleged alterations. /snark

Yup, Obama is forcing us to be cannon fodder for the DRUG Companies.. and subject to unknown additives palmed off to us in there prescription drugs. Bad enough after the miraid of drug promoting commercials.. caveats mentioning these drugs can cause:
STROKES, HEART ATTACKS, LIVER DAMAGE, KIDNEY DAMAGE, PALSY, DIABETES, CANCER, BRAIN TUMORS and every other life threatening killer illness known to mankind.

Easy way at will to eradicate the masses… Just like the unreported deaths from the Swine Flue Shots. My cousin lost his hearing and went blind in his left eye. Also losing his ability to speak after the Swine Flue shot. He just completed a third operation to a major blood vessel in the temporal area of his brain restoring 90% of his sight and hearing in a new operation initiated by a vascular specialist in Cincinnati flown into Providence for the operation.

  133. Just to connect the dots of what I have been saying this morning what you have is the following:

    1. Traditionally, big Pharma leaned Republican (even though Kennedy and Bush were big investors).

    2. The Obama Administration which told the American People it would chase the lobbyists from the temple, met secretly with big Pharma lobbyist Billy Tauzin and agreed to keep out cheap Canadian drugs and to basically fucked seniors. And because it was Obama the left admonished us we must not be judgemental

    3. The Obama Administration then let a number of those companies opt out of Obama care. This was necessary in order to protect the American People of course, only I am not quite sure how. Big media responded with three Hail Caesars.

    4. The Obama then signs an executive order which insulates the drug industry from internal and external competition for the next two years and the next six years if he is re elected.

    5. The Republicans respond by nominating Mitch Daniels who is a former drug company executive, who will do everything Obama has done for them and more.

    6. Both parties know that with an aging population pharmaceuticals are a growth industry. Hence, they are auctioning off the interests of the American People to the highest bidder, in exchange for industry contributions.

Granted, I could be reading this thing wrong. But given what has happened, this is not an unreasonable interpretation.

  134. Prescription meds: Was recently put on Synthroid (generic of course to please my prescription provider). Here are some of my side effects:
    – 2 weeks of pounding headaches (now down to constant but just irritating headache everyday)
    – 2 weeks of nose bleeds (8 bleeds in 2 weeks)
    – Multiple blisters on the roof of my mouth (lasted 1 week)
    – 2 major episodes of vomiting and diahhrea at night
    – Constant low grade nausea

Most of these side effects are new to me like headaches, nosebleeds, etc. Never had them before. Have been on the medication for about 6 weeks. Some of us cannot tolerate the chemicals in prescription meds, but are ignored by doctors when we ask for a more natural alternative.

So that is your Modus Operandi- When someone comments here with their own thought out conclusions; you go to a ‘skeptics’ site reposting someone else’s comment ( cut and pasted here or at best restated in you own words ) a comment diametrically opposed, refuting their statement with a half-baked skeptic’s opinion directly opposed to people posting here. Gottcha!

I have not been to Washington DC for a number of years, but from what I understand it is a boom town, where real estate values have climbed, incomes have increased and there is a long cocktail line that never ends. Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive, and to be there is very heaven. This is why rum ridden debutramps like Ruth Marcus pray to the god Mammon that Daniels wins the primary and Obama wins the general election. But for all the new wealth that has been created in Washington none of it has seeped out to the rest of the country. Potomac Fever is poison. When it is mixed with economic self interest it leads to an othodoxy which is immune to logic truth and common sense. Propaganda is the inevitable result.

Wallace said Trumps announcement after Huck’s speech was, “kind of funny.” (Funny that it was so sudden…”

  140. Big Cat Lover..I have taken Synthroid (full adult dose) since I was 18 (over 30 years now) and never have experienced any side effects except occasionally palpitations. The symptoms you list are not normally seen as side effects of Synthroid which is usually well tolerated (I am a former RN). Usually side effects happen when the dosage is too high and could include palpitations, shortness of breath, insomnia, nervousness, hyperactivity, shakiness etc related to a too high level of the drug.

Have you considered asking your doctor for a switch in manufacturers? You may have an allergy to the dyes, fillers or other non-medication ingredients used by the particular company who is making your Synthroid. This could cause a whole host of side effects and they could be quite severe if you are sensitive to them.

No disrespect to Mrs. Smith, but treating hypothyroidism with natural or non-prescribed products is not recommended and could be harmful. Hypothyroidism gets worse over time and without monitoring could result in serious consequences if not corrected.

  141. Belay my last @11:38: Guess who just shot himself in the head politically. A perfect example of how brilliant people can be perfectly stupid. It gives me a better idea of where the new improved Newt is coming from. Bad medicine. A week ago he got in. Now as a result of this interview he is out, only he does not know it.
    —————————————-
Newt Gingrich appeared on Meet the Press this morning and said two things that won’t exactly endear him to the Tea Party crowd or the reform minded movement sweeping the GOP.

First, he endorsed the individual mandate and said he would not bash Mitt Romney over the individual mandate.

Second, he went after Paul Ryan’s proposal to reform Medicare. Your mileage may vary on Ryan’s plan, but he is both offering up one and using the free market, individual choice approach favored by conservatives.

Newt was not happy with the approach.

Gingrich is already going to have to overcome the apprehensiveness of evangelicals and women in the primary. To also have to overcome the free marketers’ concerns may prove problematic.

I’m still struggling to figure out what Newt’s natural constituency is. He seems to want to be the ideas guy, but that really amounts to being a conservative technocrat. If Daniels enters and Mitt is there too, it is a crowded field for the technocrats to fight over.

Time will tell. The transcript of the related remarks is below the fold.

    Endorsing individual mandate:

  142. The problem with technocrats like Newt, Daniels, and Romney is they do not inspire, and they are risk adverse. If General George Washington’s advisor had been a technocrat, rather than someone who proclaimed victory or death, then we would have surrendered at Valley Forge–and the American Revolution which Washington later recalled was almost a miracle would have been irretrievably lost.

  145. Actor Danny Glover Joins Hospital Union Workers’ Rally
[SEIU doing what it does best: Protests To Go. No stone unturned for a vote. Edited. 14 May]
Thousands of protestors converged on the Poconos Saturday afternoon, joining workers at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg as they voiced their concerns over ongoing contract negotiations. More than 500 union workers at Pocono Medical Center were joined by thousands of people from as far away as New York, Maryland and Colorado to protest what they call unfair negotiations, after working without a contract since October. Even actor Danny Glover, best know for his role in the “Lethal Weapon” movies, lent his voice to the cause. Thousands of people marched through the streets of East Stroudsburg, uniting with hundreds of support staff workers at PMC in their fight against what they called unfair contract negotiations. “We take care of the people in the hospital. We bathe them, we feed them, we make sure the hospital is clean, that their rooms are clean. And we are treated like we’re not worth anything and I think people are starting to get really fed up,” said Jessica Irvine, a lab worker at PMC.
“We want our fair contract, just give it to us. We want our closed shop, just give it to us. That’s all we’re asking for, to be treated with respect,” said Gloria Shupp, president of the PMC Chapter of Service Employees International Union.
Many protestors and union workers were bussed in from surrounding states, all to fight for the conditions in the Poconos and to fight for the middle class. Oranizers estimate the crowd nearly hit 5,000 people.

Pocono Medical Center released a statement Saturday evening in regards to the negotiations:
“It is now over six months since the union contract expired and, during this time, all SEIU employees have continued to work under the terms of their expired agreement. The passing of time has not changed Pocono Medical Center’s commitment to its employees’ free choice rights. Pocono Medical Center continues to believe that its employees should have the freedom to decide for themselves whether or not they should pay union dues in order to keep their jobs.

In the past few months, SEIU Healthcare PA conducted two, unsuccessful strikes during which Pocono Medical Center continued to serve its patients without any disruption, while nearly 70% of its SEIU employees who were scheduled to work ignored the strikes and crossed the picket line. Pocono Medical Center continues to fully comply with all applicable federal labor laws and will continue to fulfill its legal obligation to negotiate in good faith with SEIU Healthcare PA, despite its repeated rejection of the hospital’s fair and competitive final contract offer.”

What a beautiful and descriptive musical piece. It gives me a sense of the beauty, grandeur and sweep of a remote place that gave the British empire and the American nation its fiercest fighters and its working class. It is a perfect complement to Senator Jim Webb’s book Born Fighting. It evokes the spirit that courses through the arteries of a man like Trump. The elites have never quite known what to do with the Scots Irish. They need them but they don’t like them.

  147. I will be off the blog for a day or two. I have some legal business to attend to. I would rather be on a burning ship at midnight but there is no way around it. I will pass along all the comments you have made to my friend on the birth certificate issue, and let you know what if anything my she says about it.

  148. “Cannot stand Gingrich, but he is not a racist, and David Gregory is a piece of crap for using the race card this early.”

Perhaps we could skip the rest of the sentence and stop at David Gregory is a piece of crap…..PERIOD. Of course anyone who uses the race card bad.

  149. Bid Cat Lover

That is good advice from American Gal. I have graves desease and as a result am now hypothyroid. I also have a peculiar reaction to some of the dyes, fillers or other non-medication ingredients in some pills. I had to switch from synthroid to Levoxl. There are several generics. Basically, synthroid is the same hormone your body is missing if that in fact is your problem. A person can not live without it. It can take a while to fine tune the appropriate amoount of the medicine. Don’t play games with your thyroxin levels. The thyroid is a vital organ and too much or too little thyroid hormone can wreak havoc on your mind and body.

  150. “Perhaps we could skip the rest of the sentence and stop at David Gregory is a piece of crap”

Zimbabwe, the same place that two years ago sported a brand new crisp Z$100 trillion bill. “

No offense taken, AG. Pop was a Thoracic Surgeon and Mom an RN. As well as having three of her sisters RN’s in the medical profession. Truthfully, over the years, I have veered away from traditional medicine. Rather than treating the symptoms, finding and treating the root cause seems to be a better philosophical approach that has worked for me.. Hypothyroidism is tricky.. it has always be a complicated task for physicians to diagnose the cause as it can be due to a slight or major selenium deficiency.

And as you mentioned it’s trial and error with thyroid medication until you find the correct does that alleviates the symptoms.

  154. have to chime in on the pharma topic
A few years back I was feeling not so happy due to blah blah blah
Went to a doctor and he put me on an SSRI with a diagnosis of depression. I was less than happy so I figured why not he is a pro.
Two weeks on celexa and I could no longer read the Times crossword puzzle. I asked the doc about vision impairment and he said no I was just getting older. Attempted to research the product and came up with nothing but the company shill. A week or so later I was washing my hair and I got clumps in my hand. Called the doc asap. No can’t be the drug.
Well I stopped taking it and my hair stopped falling out and my vision returned,
A search for the same product I was using which gave me no info years ago now says a small chance of the side effects. I had two of the small. Who are we to believe?

Very interesting henry- and I’m not about to criticize the Nursing and Doctor professions either, I can’t we’re still related… the cousins. 🙂 However, with this latest revelation about banning supplements and natural remedies, Obama is driving us to whatever pharmaceuticals are the remedy for what ails us- leaving us no choice in the matter as to how we deal with our health problems.

Just thinking- I’m wondering, if we STOP taking the prescribed pharmaceuticals will we be penalized monetarily or reported to the IRS, seeing they are his HCP enforcers…

Years ago I worked at a crisis center on Staten Island, Everyone there was waiting to get into a rehab. Sometimes it took two to three weeks for a bed. Longest for women.
All had been cleared for health reasons but we still had six am vitals.
One guy about 25 got the alarming news that he was positive for Hep C. He was traumatized by it. He was on medicare/aide and they wanted to start him on interfuron.
He was reluctant and kept telling me it was not possible that he had the virus as he had never had sex with anyone and never did a drug.
He went off to rehab but insisted on a Hep C test and it came back negative. had he said okay I got this give me the interfuron he’d have made a company some money.

In todays world, everything they say needs a second opinion. It isn’t so much the doc’s you can’t trust- although, the younger ones are… I’m afraid, more conscious of making money than doctors from years ago who basically wanted to cure people and see their patients get healthy and stay well. The lab technicians today leave much to be desired and unless you choose a reliable lab you could be in for a problematic misdiagnosis. This is where the doctors begin their evaluation of the patient. Sending them to the lab for a blood screening…and take it from there.

  158. CAIRO (AP) — An angry mob attacked a group of mainly Christian protesters demanding drastic measures to heal religious tension amid a spike in violence, leaving 65 people injured, officials said Sunday.

The Christian protesters have been holding their sit-in outside the state television building in Cairo for nearly a week following deadly Christian-Muslim clashes that left a church burned and 15 people dead.

More than 100 people rushed into the sit-in area, lobbing rocks and fire bombs from an overpass and charging toward the few hundred protesters sleeping in the area. Vehicles were set on fire and fires burned in the middle of the street.

Police and army troops fired in the air to disperse the crowd, and a tree was set on fire under the overpass

  159. NBC’s Contingency Plans In Case Of NFL Strike, Trump Presidential Run: Reality On Sunday, Recasting Donald On ‘Apprentice’

NBC has both Sunday Night Football and Celebrity Apprentice on its just revealed schedule for next season despite the NFL football season being in limbo because of the current players lockout and Celebrity Apprentice star Donald Trump mulling a presidential bid. During a conference call today NBC chief Bob Greenblatt expressed hope that both football and The Donald will be back but also said that the network is working on contingency plans if that doesn’t happen.

“Certainly we’re hoping that he will be back with us,” Greenlatt said of Trump. But if he isn’t “we will bring the show back and have someone else at the head of the boardroom table….(Celebrity Apprentice) is too strong a franchise for us not to consider that.” Greenblatt wouldn’t discuss whom they have in mind as a replacement for Trump, only saying that it would be someone who is “confident and galvanizing.”

As for Sunday Night Football, “we feel pretty good about where we are with the NFL and “pretty optimistic that football will be there,” Greenblatt said. “Worst case scenario, (the season) will be delayed by a few weeks.” NBC is already working on “high-quality, live entertainment reality-type shows that would fill the gap,” Greenblatt said. He wouldn’t elaborate, only noting that they are “attention-getting big ideas” and that NBC will air the specials elsewhere on the schedule if there is no delay to the football season.

Other tidbits from the NBC call:

-Brian Williams’ primetime newsmagazine is a go for midseason. Greenblatt described it as “fresh, relevant and enteraining.”

    – Chelsea Handler will recur on her midseason comedy Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea.

    – Greenblatt confirmed my report that Mariska Hargitay has closed her deal to return to Law & Order: SVU and Chris Meloni is not signed yet. Greenblatt was confident that Meloni will be back on the show. He also confirmed that the show indeed will introduce a new female detective on the show, a role Jennifer Love Hewitt is being considered for. “We just want to keep refreshing an old franchise,” Greenblatt said. Hargitay, who recently adopted a baby, has asked for a lighter work schedule, so her character will be less prominent in the second half of next season. “We’re not sure if Mariska will stay beyond this season as she may want to be be with her child, so we’re looking at options,” Greenblatt said.

  160. Henry, what kind of rehab if he didn’t do drugs?

What do you mean six am vitals?’

What do you mean he was on medicare/aide? Why?

Sorry, I am alarmed by this because I have recently been advised to go on two year rituxin “maintenance” therapy to stave off lymphoma recurrence. (It will eventually come back, unless a miracle happens. The treatment is supposed to lengthen the time between relapses).

I decided to go for it even though it means five hours of infusion every 2 months as a precaution after reading the research.

Actually, my new dr., at the last follow-up appointment, asked if anyone had ever discussed the therapy with me and when I said no he said well you’re almost two years post-chemo so maybe we should wait for the cancer to come back. (research says start within 2 months post chemo and continue for 2 years. No data on others).

    Flipped me the he11 out.

  161. Mormaer,

    ********

But he has a habit of trading in wives for the younger version, that will not sit well, nor will his tendency for a trash mouth,on occasion. Don’t get me wrong, I like a lot of things about Trump, but this will be a fight of incredible magnitude. I hope he has it in him, I think he does. We shall see.

  162. Just a reminder of what a hypocrite Donna Brazile is, I found this: notice the date is just a few weeks ago.

    04/27/11

DNC Interim Chair Donna BrazileS Statement On Republican Attacks On Voting Rights DNC Press
    Donna Brazile
Washington, DC Across the country, as noted in a New York Times editorial this morning, Republicans spreading false claims about voter fraud are launching attacks on Americans voting rights. As a result of their efforts, more than two-thirds of states are considering or have passed photo identification laws that would make it more difficult for many Americans to cast a ballot most directly effecting minorities and young people. Its not surprising that minorities and young people predominantly vote for Democrats. In response, DNC Interim Chair Donna Brazile released the following statement:

For years, Republicans have knowingly trumpeted false claims about rampant voter fraud. They know these claims to be false. Indeed, every effort to demonstrate widespread fraud at the ballot box has failed to turn up evidence that such fraud exists. Yet Republicans persist in such claims for cynical and partisan reasons: assertions of voter fraud enable them to offer a plausible reason for passing legislation that does nothing more than disenfranchise the most vulnerable Americans, depriving them of their most basic right to choose their leaders.

Indeed, the photo identification laws that Republicans are pushing across the country are most likely to disenfranchise young Americans, poor Americans, and minorities individuals who are least likely to have government identification or to be able to afford to get it. Its obvious that Republicans are pursuing these laws not to protect against nearly nonexistent voter fraud, but instead to increase their own chances of victory on Election Day. Republican efforts to secure party victories at the expense of Americans basic democratic rights are unconscionable, and they should be condemned by right-thinking Americans of both parties.
