Obama Government Shutdown Paradise: Federal Workers Get Time To Vacation And Golf Just Like WTF Obama

What a wonderful workers’ paradise we live in! In what other country could a normal jane/joe government worker feast themselves with the same pleasures, vacations, golf excursions as the president? Tonight, if all goes according to plan, the workers paradise will not be lowly HOPE, but a most definite CHANGE. Federal workers of the nation: REJOICE!

How wonderful that we all live in this new age of HOPE and CHANGE. How exhilarating to breathe in the fumes of unity and sweet perfumes of B.O. We are all overcome with happiness.

The cherry blossoms are in bloom. The planet is healing. The oceans are receding. The pages are turning away from all the horrible tortures of previous America. No longer will Americans have to suffer as they did in the 1990s by having to work. We are in a new age of glory.

The workers tonight will be free. No more work. Take that Bill Clinton – you who provided so many jobs like some sort of modern day Simon Legree, keeping the workers under the lash. Obama has brought forth liberation. Obama is showing the way! Just think how glorious it would be if all the federal government workers about to be liberated from their humdrum workaday lives would join glorious leader this weekend in his latest example to the working class of the joys of the dolce vita – a Williamsburg vacation.

Evil Bill Clinton oppressed the workers and made sure there was a steady supply of jobs. Evil Bill Clinton the oppressor of the working class. Mess-iah Obama has brought forth HOPE.

There are new enemies threatening the new Jerusalem about to descend. As Obama brings forth the workers’ paradise of golf, and endless vacations evil men like Eric Cantor make threats such as “We Will Not Leave Town Until We Cut Spending & Get Our Fiscal House In Order” and keep the federal government from shutting down:

Cruelty, thy name is Cantor!. Go on vacation, stop working!

Because of animals like Cantor, who insist on working ceaselessly, Barack Obama has been deprived of the opportunity to grace the people of Indiana with his presence today. Can you hear the cries of woe from the citizens of Indiana? Let’s pray and light incense tonight that Obama is not hampered further from bringing light and beneficence to the people of Williamsburg tomorrow:

“The leader of the free world may be coming to Williamsburg for some rest and relaxation if Congress is able to come to agreement on the budget. President Obama and the First Family are planning to visit the area this weekend in what the White House described Wednesday as a “long-planned family trip to Colonial Williamsburg.” [snip]

The announcement that Obama was coming generated excitement from Williamsburg Mayor Clyde Haulman. “I think it’s terrific. Williamsburg was voted as the number one family destination,” Haulman said. “The first family is coming to the first destination.”

Evil Republicans are conspiring to prevent Obama from bringing his lessons of relaxation and ceaseless vacation to the masses. But Obama is not alone in his glorious quest to instruct on indulgence. Glorious Obama has fellow revelers prepared to fight the Evil Republicans with educational trips of extravagance:

“With a government shutdown looming, Capitol Hill was a pretty serious place on Wednesday afternoon.

But for Rep. Corrine Brown (D-Fla.), what better way to ease the tension than with a congressional ladies personal shopping trip in Arlington, Va.?

According to an email from Brown’s scheduler titled, “Outing with Congresswoman Corrine Brown,” staff member Cathy Gass invited Brown’s fellow female Congressional Black Caucus members to join the lawmaker at a boutique in Crystal City, Va. on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the email, which was addressed to “CBC Schedulers,” Brown “would like to invite the woman [sic] CBC Members to go shopping with her at Daniel’s Boutique this afternoon after votes. [snip]

Gass also suggests that for members who “would like to share [their] dress size, the boutique can pull some items for them to have available once they arrive.”

For those unfamiliar with the ultra high-end service, pulling clothes that a client might like before they arrive is better known as personal shopping.”

What fabulous examples for lowly workers these tribunes of the poor are! Shop till you drop!

Barack Obama is fighting back like a great Caesar on a mighty mount. Barack Obama has warned those who would deprive him of a new vacation that he expects “an answer by morning.” Obama will not be thwarted in his vacation plans!

Minor minds do not understand the workers’ paradise, the utopia, Obama is vacationing towards:

“BASH: I can tell you that talking to Democratic sources here in Congress over the past weeks, weeks and weeks, actually really months as this has been going on, this short-term spending bill after short-term spending bill to try to keep the government running, there’s been a lot of frustration with the President, with the White House, that they have not gotten more involved. You certainly saw the President out tonight and you saw him out last night. You’re seeing him involved at the eleventh hour. But many of his fellow Democrats are saying, where were you before? We needed you before.

And the reason, they think, is because it’s just not a politically a good thing for him to be doing to be getting involved in this kind of fight when he’s positioning himself for reelection and doesn’t want to be mired in this back and forth over a few billion dollars in spending.”

Villains! How dare they demand Barack Obama interrupt his vacations and put the nation’s interests above his own interests! How dare they question the great leader’s leadership!:

“Not a stranger to criticism of the White House, freshman Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) is again faulting President Barack Obama’s ability to lead, this time saying that the president employs “a different form of leadership than I’ve ever seen.”

It’s not what I’m used to and it’s not what I’ve yet seen to be effective from my vantage point,” he told ABC News on Thursday.

In early March, Manchin made a floor speech in which he said Obama had “failed to lead” on the budget. On Thursday morning, he wrote to Senate colleagues asking them to consider donating their pay or returning it to the Treasury if there is a government shutdown.

It doesn’t seem to be working because I think the president the only one who looks at all 50 states,” he said, noting that he and other members of Congress are focused not on the whole country but on their own constituents. [snip]

Ultimately, Manchin said, voters will decide whether Obama’s leadership skills satisfy them.

The public will speak,” he said. “They’ll have a chance to speak at the next election. But frankly I don’t care and I’m not worried about the next election. If we don’t get our financial house in order and our next generation isn’t going to have a chance.”

How dare he question the glorious path of the glorious leader! He must be a racist!

The Obama workers’ paradise is coming. More and more will soon be liberated from the constraints of work.

All hail the new golden age of Barack Obama and the rise of the workers’ paradise!

The latest clip on Hillary about Libya was taken from yesterday or the day before during a press event with her Italian counterpart.

  2. …this is the same dynamic that went on against Hillary…they could not control her…they feared her so she had to be stopped…

    =============

And Gore, and Palin, and probably Goldwater….

  3. Furlough vacations for those in the Government including their Dear leader.

The Rupublican’s need to cut the budget without doing it on the backs of women’s health issues.

Saving money is one thing, religious beliefs enforced on women is disgusting.

  4. It’s Friday, time for videos. However, we can’t think of appropriate music for a shutdown. 🙁

This is as close as we got (which isn’t really appropriate or related, but fun nevertheless):

  5. How to avoid friendly fire? Libya rebels try pink

AJDABIYA, Libya — Libyan rebels painted the roofs of their vehicles bright pink on Friday to avoid more friendly fire casualties after a NATO airstrike they said killed five fighters.

  6. It’s a pink world Shadowfax. 🙂

As to the shutdown, is it Kabuki? From Republican/conservative Ace of Spades:

    http://ace.mu.nu/archives/314526.php

Smart observation seconded by Allah Pundit: Both men are striving to stress a different thing.

That way, they can both “win” in the eyes of their respective caucuses.

Harry Reid, who, like, is supposedly pro-life (uh-huh), is now super-dedicated to preserving Planned Parenthood’s funding, along with cherry blossoms and cowboy poetry.

    Boehner is talking up cuts.

The idea is that there is probably a deal here and each man is pre-spinning his victory. Boehner talking up the cuts (because he gave away the Planned Parenthood issue), Reid about Planned Parenthood (because he gave a little more on the cuts).

Like I said in an earlier thread, the Planned Parenthood deal is something we really need the Senate and the Presidency to do, so it was probably a negotiating point all along — something of greater importance to your opponent, that you can use to pressure him and eventually trade in for something else.

I have a feeling we’re not going to like the deal, even if you don’t mind the Planned Parenthood thing. The party is going to spin the number as impressive, but I’m thinking it’s going to be like $38 billion. A pittance, and not really even the Bigger Pittance sought, or the Good Compromise for the Pittance we would have at least preferred. Like $45 billion.

  7. These guys could probably come up with $38 billion just by emptying their pockets in congress.

So much for a balanced budget when they are ready to shut down the government by a fight over 2% of the budget.

Yea, refunding planned parenthood is really the thing that will balance the budget, just like NPR and the fake vote to repeal Obama care.

  8. Check out the top photo on Drudge, lots of pink shirts and some of the signs are priceless…

  9. Republican super-consultant Matthew Dowd on Bill Clinton then, versus boobery now:

    http://www.nationaljournal.com/politics/democrats-be-careful-what-you-wish-for-with-shutdown-20110408

“So many pundits and folks on both sides keep repeating that a government shutdown would be a bad thing politically for Republicans and a good thing for President Obama. The reasoning is based on the last government shutdown in 1995-96 and Clinton’s rise in the aftermath. But that historical lesson may not apply.

Here’s five differences in the two pictures:

1-At the beginning of the shutdown, Clinton’s Gallup job approval numbers were 6 to 7 points higher than Obama’s today. A much better place to communicate from for Clinton.

2-Republicans held both branches of Congress in 1995 and so the clarity of blame was much easier than today when only the House is controlled by Republicans.

3-The unemployment rate in 1995 going into the shutdown was 5.6 percent, down nearly two points since Clinton took office. And while the unemployment rate has dropped a bit in last few months, it sits at 8.8 percent, higher than when Obama took office. In 1995, folks were relatively satisfied with Clinton’s handling of the economy, today voters are very dissatisfied with Obama’s handling of it, and anxiety and dismay persist through the country.

4-Going into the shutdown in 1995, the budget deficit was approximately $150 billion and had been cut in half since Clinton took office. Today the deficit is nearly 10 times higher than 1995 and has nearly doubled since Obama has been in office.

5-Republicans were led in 1995 by a very polarizing and offputting figure (former House Speaker Newt Gingrich) and it was much easier for Clinton to demonize him. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, is relatively unknown to most Americans and comes across much less divisive.

So, Obama’s staff, supporters and political strategists should be careful what they wish for in thinking they will do another Clinton on a shutdown and benefit. The circumstances are vastly different. In the end, if there is a shutdown, Americans are likely to blame both political parties and continue turning away from Washington as a place that is disconnected from their lives and can’t seem to get past partisan bickering.”

    Yay Bill!

And this does help The Donald, the outsider.

  10. Didn’t he just have a planned vacation in South America? You know the one where he didn’t accomplish anything (par for the course) while Hillary ran the country?

  11. Another one smoked out, looks like the donald is really scaring the Obot worshiping LSM.

Tingly Matthews thinks Trump is a racist for questioning the BC. Here we go, lets see who is smoked out next. I have finally figured out how this game is played.
I blamed Ging. and the repub absolutely for the 1995-1996 shutdown, I will be blaming the Waffles and his idiots for this one this time around.

  12. Sorry for the rant……….

I am so sick and tired of all folks in Congress and their bullshit lies.

Some claim to be heros, others act like victims.

Cuts in the budget across the board would be the wise thing to do for both, but the stupid ass Republican’s act as bad as the jackasses across the isle by nailing these budget cuts to social issues.

Why is it always the same damn crap?

They give the Dems a reason to fight and stick their tongues out at them.

Every sperm is sacred – so the damn cuts have to be connected to abortion rights.

They just can’t keep the social issues out of it and just agree to things that don’t undercut others.

F um all, I am just so sick of this bs, the Dems are spendthrift fools, and the Rethugs are just selfish A-holes.

…it is amazing how out of touch and petrified the MSM and BOTH parties are of T…they just do not understand how frustrated and fed up we all are with the phoney, predicable media and the career, corporate whore politicians…or maybe they do understand and that is what scares them and reduces them to fall back on their ‘ridicule’ tactic…

When the Town sided with the neighbors, the atty invited his neighbors to a Clam Bake at his home. His neighbors raved at the wonderful seafood spread. After they feast and the July heat prevailed over the next few weeks as well as a stench hovering
over a sq mi of the area sending
some to hotels in defiance of the “garbage war”. It was a stand off.
Neither side would give in until the skunks began showing up.

  18. On Greta, sounds like the Rethugs may have taken the Planned Parenthood part out of the budget entanglement…so, hopefully they will finally get down to the business of making an agreement. around 39 Billion?

  19. I use to be proud to be a DEM, so sad, now I cringe when I agree with conservatives, but there you have it. They really aren’t the evil ones I was lead to believe.I am an Independent.

    What Wisconsin’s Judicial Election Means
    By Bruce Walker

The ballots in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race show a relatively small difference between Justice David Prosser, the “conservative” incumbent, and JoAnne Kloppenburg, the leftist challenger. Yesterday, previously uncounted votes in Waukesha County swung the victory to Prosser by over 7,000 votes (out of almost a million and a half cast), though Kloppenburg earlier claimed victory by a much smaller margin.

In this case, of course, the term “conservative” means an impartial jurist who follows the rule of law without political bias. As for the “liberal” candidate, Ann Althouse, a University of Wisconsin law professor, noted Kloppenburg’s lawn signs indicating that the latter had made up her mind about the state’s new collective bargaining law.

Regardless of the ultimate result, there are vital lessons we should take from the race.

First, the machine of leftism, even operating in a structurally leftist state like Wisconsin, is a paper tiger. Unions long ruled Great Lakes states with an iron hand and a rubber truncheon. The well-paid army of union operatives, the dull armies of whipped members, and the timidity of possible opponents has meant that unions were able to drive the economy of the industrial heartland of the world’s greatest economy into poverty and despair.

This judicial election, however, dispels the notion of omnipotent unions. Voter turnout in these elections is ordinarily light. Incumbent judges seeking reelection do not have huge organizations and vast pots of campaign funds to support them. In this race, the leftist challenger Kloppenburg had all the advantages. She should have walked away with this race, but she did not. Even if Kloppenburg somehow “discovers” her own trove of uncounted votes, the left will only win the battle and lose the war.

Second, elections that once were trivial have become crucial. Who would have imagined, a decade ago, that the state level secretaries of state, a ministerial office which records business incorporation documents and similar tasks, would become an ideological office and an instrument of political warfare by the left? Most voters in the 39 states which elect these officers did not even know who their secretary of state was (just as they could not name the members of their state’s supreme court).

Yet the Secretary of State Project, a Soros-funded venture, has made those elected officials — who in many states certify elections — into key players in an ideological jihad. The SoS Project’s website asks folks to “help us stop right-wing voter suppression.” What about left-wing voter intimidation? What about elections stolen by Democrat goons? What about corrupt organizations like ACORN, which registered critters like Huckleberry Hound to vote? The project always supports Democrats (you know, the party associated with clean elections).

Third, everything is political. Everything is ideological. This is not what we want. We want a society in which the monster of government is confined to his proper cage, but the left demands that everything be political and everything be ideological. Include specifically state-based court judges, teachers, government clerks like the secretary of state, library systems, and pseudo-charitable organizations like Planned Parenthood. Whether we like it or not, we have to consider the political agenda of every aspect of our lives.

Our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor are under constant assault by totalitarians who view all life as part of an ideological conflict. These slaves see their holy mission as twisting every part of our lives into their vision of political correctness. They are no different in their thinking from Marxists or Fascists. We must prevail, or everything we cherish in life will be lost.

Fourth, we are awake. The turnout in this normally humdrum judicial race was 70% higher than expected. Part of that, of course, was the mass carting of union drones to polling booths. The other part, though, was the turnout of conservative voters who now understand that in a total war like this, passivity and indifference are not an option.

We grasp what is happening. We have stopped listening to the chatterbox phonies of the leftist establishment media. We see the inner workings of the left and its minions. We know now that a senator who votes for cloture on a bad bill but votes against the bill on the Senate floor (where it passes easily) is trying to trick us — but we will no longer be tricked. We comprehend that the dreaded “government shutdown” means nothing when Congress and the White House before the election never even passed a budget. We see from our children’s textbooks and the unruly behavior of their teachers that the regime of public school reeducation must be defeated and reformed.

The left has been winning because we have not fought the battles which we must fight. Now, we are fighting back. That ultimately is the key. We were unwilling soldiers at first, preferring to live in a civil society in which we could live in friendly peace. The Wisconsin judicial election, which forces the highest notions of impartiality — judges — into the war of ideology, and our response to players like Kloppenburg show that we are now fighting the war that we must fight, and the fight which we shall win.

  20. Hang on to your hats. Donald Trump replies in a letter to the editor to Gail Collins:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/08/opinion/lweb08trump.html?_r=2#

    To the Editor:

Re “Donald Trump Gets Weirder,” by Gail Collins (column, April 2):

Even before Gail Collins was with the New York Times, she has written nasty and derogatory articles about me. Actually, I have great respect for Ms. Collins in that she has survived so long with so little talent. Her storytelling ability and word usage (coming from me, who has written many bestsellers), is not at a very high level. More importantly, her facts are wrong!

As far as her comments on the so-called “birther” issue, I don’t need Ms. Collins’s advice. There is a very large segment of our society who believe that Barack Obama, indeed, was not born in the United States. His grandmother from Kenya stated, on tape, that he was born in Kenya and she was there to watch the birth. His family in Honolulu is fighting over which hospital in Hawaii he was born in-they just don’t know.

He has not been able to produce a “birth certificate” but merely a totally unsigned “certificate of live birth”-which is totally different and of very little significance. Unlike a birth certificate, a certificate of live birth is very easy to obtain. Equally of importance, there are no records in Hawaii that a Barack Hussein Obama was born there-no bills, no doctors names, no nurses names, no registrations, no payments, etc. As far as the two notices placed in newspapers, many things could have happened, but some feel the grandparents put an ad in order to show that he was a citizen of the U.S. with all of the benefits thereto. Everybody, after all, and especially then, wanted to be a United States citizen.

The term used by Ms. Collins-“birther”-is very derogatory and is meant in a derogatory way. Had this been George Bush or almost any other President or Presidential aspirant, they would never have been allowed to attain office, or would have been thrown out of office very quickly.

For some reason, the press protects President Obama beyond anything or anyone I have ever seen. What they don’t realize is that if he was not born in the United States, they would have uncovered the greatest “scam” in the history of our country. In other words, they would become the hottest writer since Watergate, or beyond.

Open your eyes, Gail, there’s at least a good chance that Barack Hussein Obama has made mincemeat out of our great and cherished Constitution!

39 billion for the rest of the year, it was 5 billion in the 1st Cont. Resol. and 10 billion in the second Cont. Resol. So that is 55 billion total, its a good start, for now. It better be much better for long term fiscal sustainibility for 2012 and beyond.

  22. “I have great respect for Ms. Collins in that she has survived so long with so little talent. ”

I finally understand what Tingly Matthews meant with having a tingle up his leg. HA HA.

    GO DONALD!!!!!!!!!

  23. Shadow – from last thread – you were wondering why Rubio is telling Trump to shut up. I don’t know Rubio well, but my first thought was, I wonder if his parents were citizens when HE was born…. maybe he wants the citizenship rule kept murky and ignored for his own presidential aspirations…. if this “birther” stuff keeps (finally) getting pushed into people’s minds by Trump, eventually the Supreme Court may finally rule on the part of the constitution which says that a person must be born of two citizen parents in order to be an NBC.

Which is another thing which would invalidate Obama’s eligibility (everyone focuses on where he was born, but one of his parents was not American), but who knows, maybe it would affect Rubio, as well. But as I said, I don’t know a lot about him, it may be well established that his parents were citizens when he was born.

  24. Shutdown averted = those lazy congress critters better stay right where they are, and keep working to have things straightened away when THIS one-week bandaid runs out. Unless they like the 11th hour fun and games….

  25. lorac
    April 8th, 2011 at 11:03 pm

I thought of that as well, but I don’t think so, Trump is mainly saying you have to be born in America or on American soil i.e. a military base, the parents aren’t being discussed in his argument. So Rubio would be fine, I really think he is just being dismissive for now. It absolutley stuns me that a little 5 yr old would have to show his or her BC to go to elementary school but not to be president.

  26. But what I’m thinking, Tim, is if everyone gets into paying more attn to eligibility rules, the one about having two citizen parents may also become part of the discussion. If the supreme court rules on it, and upholds that it must be two citizen parents giving birth, then Rubio can’t run for president if he was born before his parents were citizens. In other words, Rubio may be wanting to shut the conversation down before it even gets to what might be his own issue (again, I don’t know if his parents were citizens when he was born).

  27. Trump is mainly saying you have to be born in America or on American soil i.e. a military base

But there’s more to it then that – that requirement only makes a person a citizen, not a natural born citizen required to be president. Just as Trump pulled out his short form and let every exclaim how it wasn’t a real BC, and then he produced his real BC the next day, he may also be winding them in by first talking about where you’re born, and then maybe later move on to the other requirement….

  28. “shutdown averted??

you all know what that means, right? vacation time for Waffles!”

    —————-

Is this before or after he makes another speech patting himself on the back?

    April 8th, 2011 at 11:14 pm

ah, I see what you’re saying, Rubio was born to non citizen parents, yes the strict definition of a natural born citizen is to be born to both US citizens, all this will be resolved in the supreme ct, if it is uncovered, maybe that’s why Rubio is saying what he is saying, Rubio was born in this country, but I don’t think his parents were citizens at that point, maybe permanent residents, same can be said about Bobby Jindal.

  30. I know a close relative who had a child in a US Hospital in German, Landstuhl. Both parents are American, and they were told that the child had American citizenship, but could never be President. The child’s birth certificate is German, with the Counselate’s certificate being only decorative. They were told to have the child’s birth validated thru an American immigration office when they returned to the states to validate that both parents were American, so that if the child ever wanted to go to like West Point or run for the Senate, there was paperwork to validate the automatic entitlement to citizenship. That was done. The military office in German made no bones about the fact that the child was not eligible to be President as they were not technically born in the USA.

  31. Besides that, nmf, the Sc won’t touch the nbc issue with a ten ft pole. They understand how vague the language is but they feel no changes are required.

  32. Loved that letter from Trump, that he just didn’t ignore the NYTs spin against him. Nipped that one in the bud.

    Another point for the Trumpster.

  33. Good point Lorac on the natural born citizen and Rubio.

People usually don’t try to silence a person for another, unless they have a hidden agenda.

  34. Trump has stirred up a hornet’s nest.. ‘Where was the vetting?’ — that is the question people should start asking. Can you feel the anguish in Angela’s question?

Radio giant Rush Limbaugh came under fire today from a caller to his top-rated program accusing the host of avoiding the issue of Barack Obama’s eligibility to be president.

“The fact of the matter is that his citizenship has been a suspicious issue from the very beginning,” said Angela from Arnold, Mo., “and not one high Republican or you has ever really tried to nail him on this issue, and if it does turn out that he is not a true citizen, then I think all of you should hang your heads in shame because of all the destruction our country has had to suffer ever since he was elected, in spite of being the fraud that we know he probably really is.”

Limbaugh asked incredulously, “So you’re mad at me?”

“I am furious,” Angela responded. “I wanted you and anybody else to go after him on this issue before he was elected. It would have been the easiest way to have stopped him. It would have been a no-brainer. But nobody would. And so he was elected and everything was just hidden under the rug. And now look what we have had ever since. … If it does turn out that he’s not a citizen, I think you should hang your head in shame, because our country has suffered so much.”

  35. Dems furious with Budget deal, Obama rolled over and played dead. In other words, Obama gave in, Reid gave in and Boehner got all he wanted. Also pointed out Obama is no Clinton.

    2011 is not 1995

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/post/2011-is-not-1995/2011/04/06/AFxPaT5C_blog.html

The substance of this deal is bad. But the way Democrats are selling it makes it much, much worse.

The final compromise was $38.5 billion below 2010’s funding levels. That’s $78.5 billion below President Obama’s original budget proposal, which would’ve added $40 billion to 2010’s funding levels, and $6.5 billion below John Boehner’s original counteroffer, which would’ve subtracted $32 billion from 2010’s budget totals. In the end, the real negotiation was not between the Republicans and the Democrats, or even the Republicans and the White House. It was between John Boehner and the conservative wing of his party. And once that became clear, it turned out that Boehner’s original offer wasn’t even in the middle. It was slightly center-left.

But you would’ve never known it from President Obama’s encomium to the agreement. Obama bragged about “making the largest annual spending cut in our history.” Harry Reid joined him, repeatedly calling the cuts “historic.” It fell to Boehner to give a clipped, businesslike statement on the deal. If you were just tuning in, you might’ve thought Boehner had been arguing for moderation, while both Obama and Reid sought to cut deeper. You would never have known that Democrats had spent months resisting these “historic” cuts, warning that they’d cost jobs and slow the recovery.

Boehner, of course, could afford to speak plainly. He’d not just won the negotiation but had proven himself in his first major test as speaker of the House. He managed to get more from the Democrats than anyone had expected, sell his members on voting for a deal that wasn’t what many of them wanted and avert a shutdown. There is good reason to think that Boehner will be a much more formidable opponent for Obama than Gingrich was for Clinton.

So why were Reid and Obama so eager to celebrate Boehner’s compromise with his conservative members? The Democrats believe it’s good to look like a winner, even if you’ve lost. But they’re sacrificing more than they let on. By celebrating spending cuts, they’ve opened the door to further austerity measures at a moment when the recovery remains fragile. Claiming political victory now opens the door to further policy defeats later.

And policy defeats are what will matter. The Obama White House is looking toward the Clinton model. After all, Clinton also suffered a major setback in his first midterm, Clinton also faced down a hardline Republican Congress, Clinton also suffered major policy defeats, and yet Clinton, as the story goes, managed to co-opt the conservative agenda and remake himself into a successful centrist. The Obama administration has even hired many of Clinton’s top aides to help them recapture that late-90s magic.

That story misses something important: Clinton’s success was a function of a roaring economy. The late ‘90s were a boom time like few others — and not just in America. The unemployment rate was less than 6 percent in 1995, and fell to under 5 percent in 1996. Cutting deficits was the right thing to do at that time. Deficits should be low to nonexistent when the economy is strong, and larger when it is weak. The Obama administration’s economists know that full well. They are, after all, the very people who worked to balance the budget in the 1990s, and who fought to expand the deficit in response to the recession.

Right now, the economy is weak. Giving into austerity will weaken it further, or at least delay recovery for longer. And if Obama does not get a recovery, then he will not be a successful president, no matter how hard he works to claim Boehner’s successes as his own. Clinton’s speeches were persuasive because the labor market did a lot of his talking for him. But when unemployment is stuck at eight percent, there’s no such thing as a great communicator.

  36. An email just in from my Representative in the House:

Due to the unresolved budget dispute and a potential government shutdown, the open house and townhall meeting scheduled for Monday, April 11, in Tunkhannock have been canceled. Both will be rescheduled and a new date will be announced in local newspapers, on our website and in our e-newsletter.

I did not know what to make of Marino who was portrayed by incumbant Carney and most local media as Republican with an extremely checkered past. Yet I contributed to his campaign and voted for him. To date he’s been a remarkably pleasant surprise – dedicates much personal time to constituents as this celebration of his newest office suggests, he has informed us that he has not missed a vote, and through my subscription to the MegaVote service, I know he’s voting as I hoped he would.

Time will tell, but it has been a very good beginning.

They are starting to come off the Koolaid over there.

I feel exactly the same way as that women. Not only have people folded under, I cannot see why they were convinced he was born in the US, without actually seeing the long form document. I don’t hear any of them saying that they have seen it. They state that noted fact checkers have proven it, and they are taking them at their word. NO ONE SAYS I HAVE SEEN THE LONG FORM. From that point forward they have trounched on everyone that questions that, because they are afraid if proven wrong, people will blame them. I know I will. But they have very effectively cut off freedom of speech, by indicating people should shut up, and they are stupid. I WILL BELIEVE HE WAS BORN IN THE US WHEN I SEE THE LONG FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE, something the ordinary American has to do to get a drivers license, and in many cases a job. Surely this item should have been presented before the 2008 election, to run for the most important job in the country.

Mrs Smith @12:37 I agree that they are reluctant to research and clarify this subject. However, the founding father’s who put this in, did so to stop someone amoung their group from running for President, which they did.

What is the rule in Germany, England and other countries as far as the nationality of people running for President or Prime Minister? I really don’t know, but it is an interesting question to ask on the blog.

  40. Dems Folded.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/post/budget-debate-was-fought-entirely-on-the-gops-turf/2011/03/03/AF3HZV7C_blog.html

Key takeaway on budget deal: Battle was fought entirely on GOP’s turf, with Dem acquiesence

So at the 11th hour, House GOPers and Senate Dems struck a deal to cut $37.5 billion from the budget for the remainder of the 2011 fiscal year, while getting rid of the Planned Parenthood rider that had been at the center of the final standoff. A few quick thoughts about the deal.

    * The GOP got more than it originally asked for. The original budget proposal submitted by Republicans called for $32 billion in cuts, until House conservatives demanded significantly more. Boehner ended up winning over $5 billion more than he originally asked for, even as he derided Dems who had agreed to his own original target figure as fundamentally unserious about spending.

    * Boehner essentially won his first test with conservatives. From the outset, Boehner’s game plan was obvious: His intention was to drag this out as long as possible, and bring us as close to the brink of a shutdown as possible, in order to make it easier to sell the final compromise to conservatives who are insisting on a deeply unhinged amount of cuts. He can now quite credibly tell conservatives that he proved his willingness to engage in white-knuckled brinkmanship until the very last minute to put maximum pressure on the White House — which never wanted a shutdown — in order to extract maximum concessions.

Sure, some conservatives are grumbling about the final deal, and one Tea Party group is threatening to primary Boehner. But as Paul Kane notes today, it’s unclear how widespread conservative unhappiness will be in the end. Boehner has a simple message to them: By taking it to the brink and winning more than we originally asked for, we put Dems on notice that we’re dead serious about taking it to the edge of armageddon again in the bigger fights to come, when the stakes will be far higher. It remains to be seen whether unrealistic conservative expectations will pose a larger problem for Boehner in later fights, but it seems clear that Boehner pulled off a very good play under difficult circumstances, likely rendering short-term conservative grumbling mostly a non-factor. The big story here — one that I believe conservatives will ultimately agree with — is that Boehner largely dictated the terms of this debate.

    * The budget debate was fought entirely on GOP turf, shifting the “center” way over to the right.

    read on………………….

  41. MoonOnPluto, the entire 2011 budget debate has been kabuki. That said, it is surprising how much Boehner managed to get outside of the dollar figures. The forced votes on Obama’s health scam and others are going to make a lot of Dimocrats like Claire McCaskill very upset. Sad about the DUmmies. Cold turkey is a difficult process to undergo.

Obama looked shaky at his eleventh hour press conference.
    &&&&&&

He usually looks “shaky”. When he isn’t, he’s the pole opposite, “cocky” or “arrogant”.

He just can’t seem to hit that sweet spot, “confident”.

Maybe because being confident without being arrogant requires solid experience and a good moral compass…traits he is apparently lacking.

  43. egb44hrc @10:01

The sad part is, every time I think he might be learning something, it turns out he is not. A tough negotiator is somewhat like a poker player. They have to understand when to fold, when to bluff, and when to go for the juggler. Some people are not able to learn this trait. I thought this incident might show some toughness, and some progress, but I am not sure it really did.

it is not privatizing Medicare, it will be set up how the federal employees get their health insurance. I am against privitizing medicare, this is a voucher system, it will provide a more a solid safety net to those who will need it.

  45. Note: Since I first heard of Bill Clinton (1991 I guess), I’ve been a vocal Clinton Democrat. In fact, my supervisor expressed surprise that I came to work the day after his victory; said supervisor figured I’d be in Little Rock! I was as enthusiastic about Hillary during her campaign, and I don’t see that changing. And yet, I take pleasure in reading this:
How he did it: Three Keys to Boehner’s Budget Victory
One week ago, John Boehner was dead meat. Facing a rebellion among his freshman members and with a government shutdown looming, Washington was preparing a professional obituary for the speaker of the House. If he agreed to any compromise on the plan to fund the government for the remainder of the federal fiscal year, Boehner would lose the confidence of his caucus and be a lame duck. If he dug in and joined the fiscal hard-liners in shutting down the government, Boehner would lose his ability to negotiate with Democrats in future fights. His options were to either lose face or to lose his most important bargaining tool. Checkmate.

Yet today, Boehner’s clout in his caucus and as a negotiator have been enhanced. He is the primary author of a compromise to keep the government operating for the rest of the year with the largest spending reduction in history – 63 percent of the original GOP request of $61 billion. Republicans also got a potpourri of sweeteners, like up-or-down votes on politically painful subjects like President Obama’s health care law and federal subsidies for Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider. Not too shabby for a guy who held only one of three seats at the negotiating table. How did he do it? …

  46. Simple answer is, Obama wanted to go on vacation, he’d give away the store so he wouldnt have to tell Moose she could’nt go away on vacation. Simples…end of.

  47. Pres. Obama had planned to be spending this weekend visiting Colonial Williamsburg in Va., but trip put off for another time.

Oh dear, lock the china up, hide the sleeves, Michelle’s gonna be pissed.

Everything I have heard about the Ryan budget proposal is that it is dead on arrival, but the conservatives are now saying it is the opening position for debate on the budget. In other words, I think they are agreeing that it is a no go, but hoping they can get some of the cuts in it.

  49. Tea partiers reps are all over Fox News today saying they will not vote for the last minute compromise, although I think they will. Michelle Bachman was on this morning with Neil Cavuto to say the press reports last night that she was giving Boehner cover to compromise and declare victory were wrong. It was a misunderstanding she says, which means she is covering herself with the tea party. Then someone from the tea party came on to reinforce this story to save her from attack from the tea partiers. So the spin is heavy on both sides.

  50. I think the failure of Republicans to shut down government will play into the hands of a Donald Trump candidacy. It will reinforce the abiding impression that the Dimocrats are so beholden to special interests, that they are willing to toss the American People on a funeral pire and the Republicans are too weak to put up anything more than token resistance to save the country. Furthermore, most people know they got hyped and played in this sordid scam by the corrupt collusive carnival barkers of big media–the cnn countdown to midnight.

  51. IMHO The Republicans are playing Obama like a fiddle right now.

See my post above. Tell me what am I missing?

  52. Tea partiers reps are all over Fox News today saying they will not vote for the last minute compromise, although I think they will. No, they are not wrong. Her cheerful prediction on FOX News the day before that there would be a deal, but she would vote against it, is the tell. I told you before that I know Boehner, have said this was all bullshit and none of this comes as any surprise. I told you that article in WSJ by Schultz and Becker when this matter first came up was indeed the tell. But at the political level this represents a breach of trust between Michelle and her supporters. Furthermore, it leaves the freshman Republicans who came to Washington to change the system holding a bag of shit. It defers the real battle over governing philosophy to a time closer to 2012, the Republicans are convinced they can win that battle, but they have shown weakness in the face of a scorched earth adversary who now knows what their bottom line is–they will not shut down government. Trump is the winner.

  53. No, they are not wrong.

I know, I saw her saying these things. Just pointing out the CYA.

  54. I just love it when you have weak sucks like Mitch Daniels who caved to Democratic pressure in his own states, praising John Boener for his courage in standing firm. How about infirm.

  55. I think what is of significance here is that Obama didn’t want any spending cuts and in fact he wanted more than 2010 but got nothing, nada, .. Like all other times it didn’t even look like he would fight for what he and the Dems wanted. He called present yet again and like a cheap thug he appropriated Boehner’s success (who achieved it with his own political capital with his own party).

On Greta the other night, Michelle Bachman said she would only vote for a budget that agreed to repeal funding for Obama care, period.

  58. Unforntunately, Michelle Bachman has been all over the map in what she says, but that is understandable because she is eyeing the Presidency. That’s why she needed to come on Fox taday and try to clear up the confusion over where she actually stands.

  59. You know I hadn’t realized that Paul Ryan wants to privatize medicare, well all you guys in the know…will that help the medical business or not….something tells me it will help it of coarse it will cost the taxpayers more in the long run and less care for the elderly, but will those of us who work in medicine…it should help in the long run….right???

You guys in the know please comment…you know I’m just a country bumpkin…so fill me in!

  60. An interesting tidbit.. Talking to my brother in India, he was talking about how everywhere in the country people are gathering to protest corruption in government and everywhere, they are using social network tools on the Internet, and one prominent politician going on a hunger strike bringing even more visibility.. the issue triggering this is a bill being crafted to go after corrupt corporations and politicians and how much teeth an ombudsman (perhaps like the SEC here) entity should have..

well, it might come to America some day.. teaparty was a good start but needs better definition..

  61. When the Republican’s can get budget cuts and take the high road by staying out of social issues, they always choose to slit their own throats.

De-funding NPR, where the savings is laughable. (I personally don’t care about NPR, but this move by R’s was really stupid.)

Taking away union collective bargaining, to try and hurt campaign donations from the union elites, ignores the workers they are spitting on in those unions.

Then they slit their throats again by pushing tax cuts for the very rich, people who need them the least, and claim that the uber rich are the job hero’s of our country, the only real job hero’s that matter.

I don’t know, but this just makes me hate Republican’s even more, instead of wanting to root for them to take down Obama.

Both parties have nothing I admire.

I like to see someone like Trump tear them both to shreds so someone that is dedicated, hard working, smart, sincere and really does care about her country, be able to run, win and do a good job.

    Hang in there Hillary.

  62. I heard Bachmann on Fox, she’s all over the map, what is about running for a president that makes people lose whatever their views were?

At least Donald admits, hey, the facts changed so my views didn’t change, but opinion did based on those new facts..

  63. Riverdaughter says Ryan’s Medicare plan is bad. Links at her site.

    http://riverdaughter.wordpress.com/2011/04/06/calling-shenanigans-on-the-democratic-party/

    Paul Ryan’s shitty so-called budget.[….]

The GOP proposal would phase out direct payments to doctors and hospitals under Medicare, scale back the Medicaid program for the poor and disabled, and throw out government insurance subsidies that the new healthcare law is to make available to millions of Americans starting in 2014.
That would force seniors to pay more for their healthcare and would likely make states cut back their Medicaid programs, the Congressional Budget Office concluded.
    [….]
The broad outlines of the GOP proposal suggest that starting in 2022, Americans would have a vastly different experience when they became eligible for Medicare. Eligibility would be raised from 65 to 67, the CBO said.

  64. New political reality: “Ask not what country can do for you? Seriously, don’t ask. It’s not going to happen.”

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/russia/8438045/Russia-wants-red-button-rights-for-US-missile-defence-system.html

“A top Kremlin official has told the United States Russia wants “red button” rights to a new US-backed missile defence system for Europe, a move that would allow it to influence the shield’s day-to-day operational use.

Sergey Ivanov, Russia’s deputy prime minister, made the controversial demand during a visit to the United States where he met with top officials including Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State.

“We insist on only one thing,” he said of the nascent US-backed missile defence shield. “That we are an equal part of it.”

“In practical terms, that means that our office will sit for example in Brussels and agree on a red-button push to launch an interceptor missile, regardless of whether the missile is launched from Poland, Russia or the UK.”

  66. I am not only disgusted but revolted by the spin we are seeing on fox news over this budget debacle, including an op ed that Boehner won even though he had only one seat at the table. It is more bullshit, from a party we look to to put some limits on spending which is sinking our country. Booze, broads and politics do not mix. Too much opportunity for blackmail. The truth of the matter is as follows:

    A BUDGET DEAL: REPUBLICAN SUICIDE

By DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANN

    Published on DickMorris.com on April 8, 2011

    Printer-Friendly Version

We all watched in amazement and horror as the Democratic Party led its minions off the cliff and made them vote to jam through Obama’s health care law. We knew it was mass suicide, but we watched with incredulity as they bravely stepped up to drink the Kool-Aid. Now it is the turn of the Republicans freshmen — the very people who inherited the seats of those who walked the plank — to march off a cliff of their own.

The electorate that impelled the GOP triumph in 2010 will not tolerate a breaking of the Republican promise to cut $100 billion from the budget. They will accept, of course, the pro-rated share of the advertised total — $61 billion over seven months — but not anything less. It is a simple matter of keeping one’s campaign promises.

Any freshman who votes for a budget deal below $61 billion will face a primary and likely defeat either for the nomination of in the general election. That is just the fact of political life.

The Tea Party supporters and the aroused Republican electorate will not stand for it. The myopia which obscures Boehner’s and Cantor’s view of this reality is as blinding as that which made Pelosi, Obama, and Reid sacrifice their majority over health care.

If Boehner comes to a deal below $61 billion, he will face the massive defection of his own party. A fundamental split between Tea Party and establishment Republicans will have opened up and will not heal for the balance of the session. If Boehner needs to cross the aisle to borrow Democratic voters to pass the deal, he will become a coalition speaker — a coalition of donkeys and RINOs. The real Republican conservatives will be in the minority. But they will have with them the vast bulk of the GOP electorate, a re-alignment which will become painfully clear in 2012’s primaries.

If senior Republicans back a deal of less than $61 billion, they need to pay heed to the fates of Utah Senator Bennett, Delaware Congressman Mike Castle, and Florida Governor Chris Christie. And they need to note as well the legion of senior Democrats from seemingly invulnerable districts who lost their seats in 2010. That may well be their fate.

And why are Boehner and Cantor marching off the cliff? The Republican Party will win a government shutdown. It will be the defining event of the 2011-2012 cycle. Faced with a choice between more spending and less spending, the American people will back less spending. The lessons of 1995-1996 do not apply. Clinton won that shutdown (in which I was instrumental) because the fight was about Medicare. Had the battle been merely quantitative — as this fight would be — the Republicans would easily have prevailed.

When John Boehner and Eric Cantor sit down to decide whether to take a deal or not, here are the stakes:

If they take a deal below $61 billion, they will split their party, alienated their supporters, trigger a mass of primary fights, lose their ability to strike deals over the debt limit or the 2012 budget, and terminate the revolution of 2010. And Obama will be re-elected.

If they reject such a deal and shut down the government, they will galvanize their supporters, paint Obama into a liberal corner, force the Democrats to accede to their budget cuts, and win the fights over the debt limit, Obamacare repeal, EPA, NLRB, and the 2012 budget because the Democrats will be too petrified to weather another shut down. And Obama will be defeated.

Those are the stakes for the leaders.

For the members, the decision as to whether to follow their leaders off a cliff is simple: Do you value your seat in Congress you worked so hard to win?

  67. While Congress is busy spending the middle class into the poor house, Bernake is printing money like it is going out of style. If the goal was to lay the groundwork for a series of legislative moves to take us back to 2008 spending levels plus inflation, then this deal was a sell-out. Bear in mind these savings are off Obama’s proposed budget and not off actual spending–a point Rove made. Boehner’s performance fell far short of the rhetoric, amounted to the breach of a campaign promise, and proved to many of us that establishment Republicans are not up to the job. When there are no answers from insiders, we must look to outsiders to stop this madness before it is too later. Ergo Donald Trump.

    Republican Austerity

  68. Republican Austerity

So, let me get this straight…

After all the back and forth, pledges, promises, tough fiscal talk and discussions of shutdown… Republicans have agreed to pass another short term CR with a few billion dollars in cuts – all being jammed through tonight by voice vote and basically sight-unseen (classic Washington transparency). This to get us to next week.

Then, Republicans are likely going to cut a deal for something around $40 billion max (likely upper-30’s) of cuts, and not uphold their own pledge to cut $100 billion (much less the smaller amount of $61 billion originally offered), and then fail to draw even the faintest line in the sand on policies (so-called “riders”) of any significance, such as federal funding of Planned Parenthood (i.e. tax dollars used to support the death of hundreds of thousands of babies annually) or Obamacare.

Oh sure, Republican leadership will hide behind some symbolic votes in the Senate (which can easily be gained through any real effort anyway) and behind supposedly “significant” cuts of $39 billion, or some such.

Keep in mind that our national deficit – not debt, mind you, but annual deficit – this year alone will surpass $1.5 Trillion, and thus, the $39 billion in cuts represents well less than 3% of the hole we are digging…

Meanwhile, Paul Ryan is praised as the Second Coming for writing a budget that adds $6-9 trillion in debt, fails to touch social security, and is still well out of balance and hemorrhaging hundreds of billions of dollars in 10 years… and more importantly, the Ryan budget won’t even ever be implemented – at least not until 2013, that is if Republicans can find a candidate worth running, much less capable of winning.

So now we move to raising the federal debt ceiling for the umpteenth time without any significant structural change toward fiscal responsibility. Should we expect anything other than cutting a “deal” for a vote on the BBA or some other gesture as opposed to passage of the BBA (with a spending limit)?

Republicans clearly run scared from the 1995 Government shutdown despite the fact 1) Republicans gained 2 Senate seats and lost only 9 (if memory serves) House seats in a year when Bob Dole was acting as dead weight, 2) a shutdown only shuts down a portion of the federal government, 3) any shutdown saves at least some money and means less Washington interference in our lives, and 4) polls today indicate Americans would generally not be terribly bothered by such a shut down.

So instead of pushing hard for any real policy changes or truly significant, game-changing spending cuts – Republicans cut a deal for fear of being seen as obstructionist.

    Leadership and fiscal austerity, Republican-style.

Excellent point. My concern relates to the American People. Where Obama is concerned, once again, Mighty Casey struck out. Watch:

  70. morris is overreacting, I wish more was cut, but this was for the remainder of the ’11 budget, just another 6 months, the direction has been changed. It is actually about 55-56 billion in cuts when all the CRs cuts are included.

What I find interesting is that Boehner actually got Reid to have votes on the defunding of ObamaCare with 23 dems up in 2012 I’m sure they will love that to bring all this up in the public’s main frame again, frankly Boehner did what he could. This is not condemning or praising him, but to push him harder for the next big battle, the 2012 budget.
What I find even more interesting Waffles et all acting like they drive these cuts and trying to take credit for it, this independent voter is not fooled one bit!

Morris really acts like such an idiot sometimes.

  71. Well, I hate to go against Admin, but having been furlough, under Bill Clinton, I did not take a vacation, instead, I was on the phone a lot with work, helping the critical people do the job. After we retuned I worked nights and weekends, to straighten out what had gone wrong, and I was not paid for that time.

Did some take a vacation? Probably, but a lot of them did not.

  72. There is always one in the crowd–a magic thinker, an apologist, a cockeyed optimist. Not at this rate . . .

runner12 Saturday, April 9th at 12:15AM EDT (link)

We only control half of the legislature and none of the White House. What we must do is force each and every Senator to defend their vote for not repealing OCare and for supporting PP.

Not only that, but we must roast O over the coals on it as well. Dare him to double down. Why do u think Reid has refused to hold a vote on OCare repeal?

Besides on FY 2012, WE control the purse strings.

  73. frankly an across the board cut is a very good idea. no special deal, nothing, a % cut across everything.

you know what makes me angry — these same lefty blogger boys and girls labeled Bill Clinton as an almost republican.. they called Hillary too centrist.. but Bill Clinton took on Newt Gingrich and simply decimated him and Gingrich still has not recovered career-wise. Where the hell is their messiah today and what is he doing? crying over his missed vacation in Williamsburg and his golf (because it is raining in DC today).

The tea party people thought they had the power and decided to press their luck with social issues that are dear to Dems. They shot themselves in the foot.

Actually there was a bill passed by House and Senate to do that, and sent to the White House. Where of course Obama … buried it.

It is all well and good to be loyal to one party but holding them accountable is another thing.

Colleague Thaddeus McCotter remarks dryly on the House floor during the same day (4/8) that the music died and the Boehner led GOP House surrendered the high ground to the toothless, bootless, feckless Democrats in the Senate and in the White House.

The so-called budget deal was never in doubt: the leadership of both sides (Boehner-Cantor-McCarthy for the GOP; Reid, Schumer-Biden for the Democrats) worked out the compromises more than a week back. The drawn-out melodrama was because both sides were fearful of their back-benchers and the ever present blogosphere airwings.

Am told that POTUS remained univolved right to the end, … and that his two statements at 1045 pm and 945 pm Eastern Time on Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 nights respectively were just campaign-charade gambits — a man who disdains his job showing the uninterested electorate that he is present to vote “Present” in the process.

Am told that POTUS is only political now; he will make no move in any direction unless he is directed by hesitating Axelrod and Messina out of Chicago, and unless obtuse Plouffe and Pfeiffer in the White House are satisfied it is useful framing to the most loyal of the Obama voters.

POTUS has a team that has surrendered the weight of the White House. POTUS has a team that believes it can only be effective in campaigning for the promise of the White House.

    Ulysses Grant
The paradox is that the office is now empty of the man who is “Present,” and it will remain empty until either POTUS or the Other is elected in November 2012.
Charles Schumer has the only energy in the Democratic leadership, because he aims to deserve to be Minority Leader come 2013.

What is to say of Boehner? Vagueness, timidity, substitute-teacher-caution: if he was a Union political general, 1862, they would give him an Army to train up in tent-raising.

We are in search of the gritty U.S. Grant and the whirling-minded Sheridan.

Thaddeus McCotter’s wit saves the morning. The song for the GOP next year is:

  86. Tim, I mailed my request back to People for the American Way…with no money, of course, but with a big note that said that I am for defending the constitution that’s why I would not be supporting the Democrats who lied and cheated to get “the fraud” in office.

It was in a prepaid mail envelope. 🙂

  87. I am standing up and cheering Boehner, I just read that he got 2 year extension for the DC voucher school system so that those poor little kids at least have shot at making something of themselves. I will never forget that a$$hole Waffles cut that funding, moms were in tears, I will appauld Boehner. Yes, I know he should have done much much more, but the fact that he even got this negotiated back in make him a much more responsible and bigger man than that jerk in the WH will ever be, ever!

I just hope he realises this is only the beginning, this country is going down the tubes, larded up with debt, people are watching, and not complacent anymore.

  88. Hey Obama, heres your beacon of democracy…….

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1375168/Sharia-Law-A-woman-whipped-having-affair.html

A woman flinches as she is about to be repeatedly caned for having an extramarital affair.

Irdayanti Mukhtar, 34, received nine lashes by Sharia Police for having a relationship with another man, even though she is said to be in the process of divorcing her husband.

The harsh punishment was meted out in front of a crowd of 200 people outside the Al Munawwarah Mosque in Jantho, Indonesia.

The jeering crowd recorded the brutal beating on their mobile phones and camcorders and shouted for more beatings in the strict Muslim city.

Mukhtar had been sentenced to the punishment the previous day by a Sharia court where prosecutors said that she was guilty of being in ‘close proximity’ to another man.

Under Sharia law the offence carries a maximum beating of nine strokes with a cane or a minimum of three.

Neighbours had seen Mukhtar with the man and had barged in on her while the couple were in her bedroom, although it is unclear what they were actually doing.

The mob then dragged them to the local police station to be charged.

It is believed Sharia Police are also investigating a claim that Mukhtar was molested by the crowd before they took her to be charged.

Shortly after the caning on Friday Mukhtar passed out and had to be taken to hospital for treatment.

She was one of four people, including the man she was caught with, to be caned for extramarital affairs.

  93. It’s Not the Shutdown Obama Feared, it is the Image of Hillary in the Rear View Mirror

    Doug Wallace
    April 09, 2011

If Hillary Clinton and President Obama resolved the rivalry between them, it makes no difference to the army of Hillary supporters who are in no mood to be nice. With Hillary’s impressive favorable approval ratings, in comparison to the dismal approval ratings of President Obama, Hillary supporters are asking “Does Obama Fear a Hillary Clinton Primary Challenge?

Hillary supporters never did get the proverbial “tingle” up their leg over President Obama’s victory, and they were ”not happy” about the way President Obama treated their candidate during the 2008 primaries.

The fallen Messiah has been in a deep sink hole for months, with recent polls showing that 23% of likely voters strongly approving of President Obama, while 37% strongly disapprove. At the same time, Hillary consistently enjoys high approval ratings. Hillary supporters want to know, does Hillary smell blood in the water? Only Hillary can stand between Obama and his lock on the 2012 Democratic Presidential nomination.

Complicating Obama’s re-election bid is the Republican controlled House of Representatives with a voter mandate to cut spending. The Democratic controlled House and the Democratic controlled Senate failed to produce a fiscal budget last year. This happened under President Obama’s watch, so he shares the blame for the embarrassing budget drama. By failing to produce a budget last year as they were required to do, Democrats, lead by President Obama, betrayed the trust of the American people.

President Obama understands the complexities of this equation and the public relations nightmare of a government shutdown. He has appeared to be involved in the debate, but not in the fight. In the process he has made himself a target of criticism by both parties. The public was frustrated and outraged over the budget impasse, and working families find it hard to understand why politicians in Washington behave like children with delinquent habits. It was Washington at its worst this week, and Democrats share the larger part of that blame. If they had done their job last year, this drama could have been avoided.

An incumbent President is rarely challenged by a member of his own party, unless there is a clear and present opportunity by a willing and able challenger. Hillary Clinton easily meets all the criteria to challenge Barack Obama. President Obama likely scored political points with lobbyists and big money supporters in this week’s budget battle, but it was the American people who suffered through the stress of it all.

In most instances a President does not have control over random events that may occur anywhere around the world at any moment, any one of which has the potential to derail a re-election campaign. But a budget battle with Republicans is an event the President can control. Who would be surprised if he used it for his political advantage?

When Representative Paul Ryan came out with a proposal to cut a whopping 6.2 trillion dollars in real cuts in government spending, it was a shocking revelation of the dire financial trouble our nation is facing. Never before has a politician with such power had the courage to actually propose such deep cuts in spending. When Representative Paul Ryan submitted that budget, it effectively changed the dynamics of Washington politics.

On Wednesday of this week, I wrote an article for Technorati titled, “Why President Obama Will Not Permit a Government Shutdown.” In that article, I concluded by writing, “Look for a last minute settlement, orchestrated by none other than President Obama.”

It’s possible, I suppose, that a government shutdown was never really a possibility. President Obama did his best to escape the humiliating charade in Washington that the American people witnessed this week. At the same time, he stayed involved just enough to give the image that he was in control. This makes one wonder: did the President stay out of the fray because the budget deal never was a serious issue for him? Could it be that he already knew that a government shutdown was not an option for the Democratic Party?

A government shutdown may not have been the primary concern of the President’s re-election campaign. It makes sense that the images of Hillary Clinton, which have lately been closer than they appear in the rear view mirror, occupied the minds and actions of the President and his campiagn officials this week. Avoiding a government shutdown makes for good press. Anything that will improve the President’s poll numbers is good for the re-election campaign. One can imagine that his supporters are hoping those images of Hillary will move so far behind, that her supporters can no longer ”smell blood in the water.”

Anyone who can’t understand the huge difference in the treatment of women between christians and muslims is either a fool or a bot.

    Or a man.

Can we all just ignore this BS when posted? I try but whenever I see moononpluto respond I’m inclined to throw in my 2 cents.

Unlike most of us here, moononpluto has lived in a predominantly Muslim country and while I understand it practices mostly Sunni, the less barbaric form of Islam, he has still seen a heckofalotmore real life muslim practices than most of us have, including the treatment of gays.

I tend to believe his accounts (rare though they might be) over those of someone who had no real life experience with the GZM much less actual Muslim interaction.

I, at least, lived in the most heavily populated musilm concentration city in the northeast for quite a while and I saw first hand the pure unadulterated BS women went through.

Nothing on the scale of what happens in the ME but restrictive enough for me to thank the stars I was born a woman in the predominantly Christian USA, even though I am not a Christian myself.

Islam is a barbaric religion. Maybe TDO, if a woman, should try living in one of the ME countries and then report back to us how much better women are treated there than here.

But I’m not gonna hold my breath waiting for that.

  97. No no my friend. Boehner failed the test of leadership here. He blinked. When we have a fifteen trillion dollar national debt and an out of control Obama budget radical surgery is indicated. the Boehner compromise is a sell-out. To paraphrase a great American leader extremism in the pursuit of solvency (liberty) is no vice, and moderation in the pursuit of (economic) justice is no virtue. Boehner is guilty on both fronts. The deal will make it impossible to achieve the stated goal of returning to 2008 spending levels plus inflation. As stated before I like John personally. But this is not a question of likability. It is a matter of leadership–or rather the lack thereof.

  98. IT’S NO DEAL, IT’S A SELLOUT

By DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANN

    Published on DickMorris.com on April 9, 2011

    Printer-Friendly Version

John Boehner has just given away the Republican victory of 2010 at the bargaining table. Like the proverbial Uncle Sam who always wins the war but loses the peace, he has unilaterally disarmed the Republican Party by showing that he will not shut down the government and will, instead, willingly give way on even the most modest of cuts in order to avoid it. He now has no arrows left in his quiver.

Having failed to stand firm for just $61 billion in cuts in a budget of $3.7 trillion, how can we expect him to stand firm over the debt limit extension or the 2012 budget? We can’t. The excellent budget proposals of Paul Ryan are no more than a pipe dream now. Boehner has He sold us out now and he’ll sell us out again.

It is the duty of every Republican Congressman to vote no on this terrible deal. It violates our campaign promises to the American people. We promised $100 billion of cuts and we delivered $38 billion ($62 billion on a twelve month basis). In the Republican House’s first real test out of the box it has broken the promise over which it was elected. Only in Meat Loaf’s music is “two out of three not bad.”

This concession makes it clear that:

    * Obamacare will not be defunded.
    * The EPA will not be blocked from regulating carbon.
    * The NLRB will not be stopped from forcing an end to secret ballots in union contests.
    * Medicaid will not be block granted and turned over to the states.
    * Welfare spending will not be cut nor work requirements imposed.
    * The FCC will not be stopped from regulating talk radio.

In short, we have accomplished nothing by our hard work in 2010.

Except we have learned a lesson.

And the lesson is this: We need to purify our party and purge it of the likes of John Boehner and all those Congressmen who vote for the budget sellout. The Tea Party must take the lead in this purifying fire. We must not let the RINOs win!

DickMorris.com will post prominently (and permanently) the names of all GOP freshmen who vote for this rotten deal. It will be in a column headed: THESE ARE THE SELLOUTS. Check it out and back their primary opponents!

  99. I meant or a Muslim man.

Although the way the lefties of both genders swoon over them I sometimes think it is the ultimate leftie male wetdream, living in a society where women are completely repressed. And the leftie women, (like you know who) either doesn’t have a clue about what it’s like to be female in a sharia compliant region or secretly yerns for the lifestyle.

    Just a theory.

Amazing that the only men I hear speaking out against islamic women’s repression are repubs or conservatives.

The anchor babes are all down for the struggle with the boys. Idiots.

He says he enjoys golf but is not the fanatic that some have portrayed.

“It’s the only excuse I have to get outside for four hours at a stretch,” he said.

His impossible dream: “I just want to go through Central Park (in New York) and watch folks passing by . . . spend the day watching people. I miss that.”

  101. Stir up? I only respond when someone else starts it. And I don’t post graphic horror details — of rape victims in Christian hospitals denied contraceptives, women with fatal pregnancies denied abortions, gays lynched.

If you don’t like abstract responses, stop posting your detailed horror incidnets as though they proved something.

  102. Go right ahead, Obuma! make my day, resign.. better yet show your real long form BC and then everyone will run away from you and you will regain your anonymity.

But he stole it from the people who really wanted and wanted it for the right reasons like making a difference with all that power given to them. 103. They take offense at everything, anything westerners do and are ready to kill them for it. What a bunch of sick people! And encouraging their mental retardation, are all these other liberal people and corporations who are afraid of them. Fuck both!! There won’t be any progress one way or another given this mental attitude.

Channel 10 apologizes for ads showing British fashion advisors in immodest clothing against backdrop of al-Aqsa Mosque

    Eran Baron
    Published: 04.08.11, 17:36 / Israel Culture

Newspaper ads for the “Trinny & Susannah Do Israel” show have sparked a row among Muslims, as they show the two British fashion advisors dressed in immodest clothing against the backdrop of the al-Aqsa Mosque and Western Wall.

Channel 10 apologized for the incident on Wednesday evening and promised to change the ads immediately.

The Islamic Movement’s al-Aqsa institution association slammed Channel 10 for publishing a picture of the two women wearing strapless dresses against the backdrop of the mosque.

The association released a statement saying that “the publication of such abomination against the backdrop of an image of the al-Aqsa Mosque, in order to promote a television program on fashion and clothes, is a blatant violation and a desecration of Islam’s holy mosque. This is an insult to more than one and a half billion Muslims in the world.”

The association demanded that Channel 10 remove the ads immediately. “This is not the first time Israelis make use of pictures of the al-Aqsa Mosque, which violate the sanctity of Islam, whether with alcohol bottles or in order to promote tourism to occupied Jerusalem. We call for the immediate removal of the newspaper ads.”

After apologizing for the ad, Channel 10 decided to change it immediately, using PR photos instead of images of Jerusalem.

Channel 10 offered the following response: “The television show has no intention of offending any religion or faith in any way. The publication of the discussed ads will be stopped immediately.

“We had no intention and have no intention of hurting the feelings of Jews, Muslims, Christians or any other people. We apologize if these ads have offended any religious sentiments.”

  104. ” “The television show has no intention of offending any religion or faith in any way. The publication of the discussed ads will be stopped immediately.

“We had no intention and have no intention of hurting the feelings of Jews, Muslims, Christians or any other people. We apologize if these ads have offended any religious sentiments.” ”

So, in the same article, they say “The Islamic Movement’s al-Aqsa institution association slammed Channel 10 for publishing a picture of the two women wearing strapless dresses against the backdrop of the mosque. “

yet…. they say “We apologize if these ads have offended any religious sentiments”, really, who else complained, not jews, not christians. The PC BS coming out this story is absolutely mind numbing.

  105. turndownobama,
Really gay lynchings? And that happens how often? Stats please.
Catholic hospitals do not provide contraception to a rape victim but are you seriously comparing that to the right for a man to take a woman as his because he can?
    Really?
Last time I checked abortion was legal. So the women with fatal pregnancies denied an abortion argument is just absurd.

  106. I long for the days when I surrounded myself with Democrats that knew what they stood for and knew who the ‘enemies’ were. Gone are those days.

I come to the blog and at times wonder if I died and work up in Republican Purgatory.

  109. turndown, I too don’t understand your connection to the Muslim faith. Do you honestly think that women are abused on the same level by Christians that want to dismantle Roe vs Wade and birth control…with those in the Muslin religion that treat women like property, stone them, beat them, toss acid in their faces, not let girls go to school, not let women get a higher education. And just because some places are not as bad, doesn’t mean without outside exposure to the rest of the world, many women would be treated like this and die.

You can defend some good Muslims, we all know some exist and each of them has examples of these good people in their lives, but do you not see that in places like the ME this is a horrible life for women. Would you like to live a life in a burqua?

    ————
I just get tired of the comments about how wonderful things will be after the Republican’s take care of us.

My side is only the Clinton side. I no longer have a party nor do I admire either.

  120. Remember what Hillary said about Social Security? It’s not really in trouble; people just say that who want to raid it. Its trust fund includes Treasury notes, which Congress wants to renew rather than pay back. Hillary said that if the economy improves, Congress will have no trouble paying the notes back.

  121. I will make you a little bet. After this fiasco the chances that serious work on spending control are zero. They are going to do it by inflating the money. That is the game now. So if you are on fixed income, like some of us are, you are toast. Round heels like Boehner, Cantor and their ilk will cave in on Obama care too. Just you wait. I will give you anything you want but please don’t accuse me of shutting down govenment. My god what temporizing cowards these people are.

  122. wbb

I agree with you and I think they will only focus on drama and social issues and things will remain much the same.

The only hope I see on the horizon is Hillary, and if she won’t run, maybe someone like Trump. Otherwise, I have no hope.

  123. They are going to do it by inflating the money. That is the game now. So if you are on fixed income, like some of us are, you are toast.

    =============

Whatever happens, they will inflate the money and give most of it to their cronies. They will also try to take the money in Medicare and SS to give to their cronies also. So all us fixed income people can hope for is that in the inflated economy we will still have our SS and Medicare.

  124. Senator Bill Nelson who was part of the plot to sell Hillary down the river has decided to become my pen pal. He sends me letters all the time and acts like he knows me. He does not.

The latest example is a diatribe wherein the praises the budget sell-out as a victory over tea party extremism.

    I wrote back.

First I told him to fuck off–as Robin Williams would say. Second I told him he was a sell out artist. Third I told him that if he was serious about fighting extremism then he should get off the public trough and resign. He contributes nothing.

I don’t know if you have watched this jerk in action, but he seems to be kinda slow mentally. Also, he squints like the sun is in his eyes. I believe that is a tell. He does that when he is lying.

Similarly, when Edwards would lie through his teeth he would blink a mile a minute. That struck me as a tell. I failed to consider the alternative possibility that what I perceived as a blink was really a wink at his future wife Rielle Hunter, formerly known as Lisa Druck

Someone should introduce them to each other–Squinty, Blinky and the Bimbo. Ménage à trois. Or it could be a law firm.

  125. Shadow, I agree with you completely on this. Hillary if she runs, if she does not then Trump if he runs, because if neither one of them run, all we will get is more of the disgusting media directed theater we saw here. That countdown meter at cnn, the breathless reporting, when they knew that a deal had been pre-negotiated– it is the biggest scam since letting a Manchurian candidate became president. Since the two parties went to these great lengths to fool us into believing that they achieved something historic and beneficial, the least we can do is to tell them in no uncertain terms that we are not fooled. The playwright George Bernard Shaw, my kind of socialist reformer, once said that every profession is a conspiracy against the laity. Political parties are no exception–alas.

  126. wbb

Yes, this whole ‘shut down’ the government drama we went though for the past month was just a bad play, and not only did things fall flat, but stirring up the troops on either side over social issues was just terrible, playing with voters emotions for each side to appear as the white knights that were there to protect us.

It all made me sick to my stomach, at least the next time around, I hope I will not be sucked in with the hang wringing from the talking heads.

It’s Not the Shutdown Obama Feared, it is the Image of Hillary in the Rear View Mirror

    Author: Doug Wallace
    Published: April 09, 2011 at 5:33 am

It makes sense that the images of Hillary Clinton, which have lately been closer than they appear in the rear view mirror, occupied the minds and actions of the President and his campaign officials this week. Avoiding a government shutdown makes for good press. Anything that will improve the President’s poll numbers is good for the re-election campaign. One can imagine that his supporters are hoping those images of Hillary will move so far behind, that her supporters can no longer ”smell blood in the water.”

  128. Would someone tell me where I can find the true information that Obama has spent his own money to fight the “birther’s”.

I know he did the first million and then had the federal government pay for the rest…I have someone telling me that the birth issue is crazy..and I’m crazy for believing it…Of coarse they watch msnbc so there yah go, but I would like to prove to him Obama has done this….because at this point he is still a huge fan of Obama and its really hurting our friendship.

  129. confloyd – maybe someone can come up with the citation you need. But an additional thing you can do is ask your friend, why would Trump (regardless of how they feel about him) go on national TV and say that Obama has spent $2 million fighting the birther claims? He’s a national figure, so he’s risking his reputation, plus, I suppose he would be open to legal retribution if what he is saying isn’t true. But he is going out there saying it – it’s not direct evidence, but it’s pretty compelling. Plus, he has a lot of money to uncover facts, and that’s more indirect evidence that it may be true.

  130. confloyd – I’ve been looking for something for you, I thought I had saved it, but I can’t seem to find it. There is a website which has a blank Hawaiian short form birth certificate – just like the computer image Obama is declaring is proof of his birth. You can fill in whatever name and details you want and print it out.

Whenever someone says to me that he showed his BC, I always emphasize that it was a computer image and nothing more as far as proof goes. Being able to make your own Hawaiian BC really hammers that home. And there are articles out there showing that when Obama’s first appeared online, it had no notary/stamp on it, and after people noticed, voila, it had one.

  131. and all those people fawning over him.. MO did that in the WH sometime ago.. like a queen, she was enjoying their discomfort and surprise.

  132. Ah! the casal attire of the Presidentat th Lincoln Memorial, and than back in his office, white shirt on sleeve rolled up.

They say image is everything. Somehow, those two images did nothing to convince people he is in charge.
It looked like he was working hard up to the last minute???? Well, lets face it, a leader knows the tough battles, and tries to head them off so that you really don’t have to fight the hard battles.

Obama tried to avoid the hard battles, just like he avoids negotiations, which are necessary to avoid the hard battles. This budget was his 3rd budget cycle (remember ready to lead from day one), and for the first two, and in the 3rd one up until January, he had a majority. Yet, in the third cycle, he could not pass a full budget, and started down the road of piecemeal budgets (which contractor charge extra for every change in their contracts). We all know that if you buy one can of something vs 20 cans, you usually get a deal(ready to lead from day one). He is in a lame duck position on his 4th cycle coming up this fall (government fiscal year start 1 Oct), because he lost his majority in the house, and the economy is limping along. Every up in the numbers are viewed as a hurray we are coming out of the recession, and every down turn ignored.

However, people are still asking themselves, are we better off today than we were yesterday. Some have gotten jobs, but at lower wages, and there is a fear that you have to hold on to what you have, as you don’t trust what is out there anymore. Parents no longer feel that life will be better for their children, and many of those young people have gone into debt or bankrucy to weather the economic situation. Most of them wipped out what they had save for retirement, and feel they can never retire.

Unfortunately, much of this downturn is now associated with O, who golfs, who’s wife takes expensive vac tion, who appears to take many vactions with his children, and diplomatcally has never returned from a trip with any significant agreement.

But who else will the people vote for? They will vote for the person who will somehow protect what little future they think they and their children have. Trump is not a Dem or a Rep, and I feel they view him (especially from that televison show), as someone in charge that will do that. I have never been one of his fans, but you have to admire his ability to land on both feet, and succeed.

  133. “Had this been George Bush or almost any other President or Presidential aspirant, they would never have been allowed to attain office, or would have been thrown out of office very quickly.”
“For some reason, the press protects President Obama beyond anything or anyone I have ever seen. What they don’t realize is that if he was not born in the United States, they would have uncovered the greatest ‘scam’ in the history of our country. In other words, they would become the hottest writer since Watergate, or beyond.”

    ————
That is Trump talking as you are all well aware off. Althouse says he is making an important criticism of the press, more important than birtherism (we all know that). Yes, but is there a reporter brave enough to uncover the ‘scam’ or just reveal what is hidden? If he was a Republican president (but he is), the liberal (and feckless) press would have gone for the jugular like they did with Nixon and Watergate.

  134. Sorry for the duplication, if admin has already posted this.

    http://www.hillarynme.com/2011/04/07/trump-destroys-obama-deniers-on-nbc-today-show-morning-joe/

watch how Trump answers Meredith Viera’s question, absolutely no backing down. This is why I trust this man, he will not be a yes man to the dems or the repubs — probably by establihment of both parties don’t trust him , I don’t agree with him on everything, I just want someone who is honest enough and has enough of a spine to find solutions for America, not a political party.
And then compare this to Ken-doll Romney.
Sarah comes close to this type of courage, but in my opinion, she has been severely portrayed and does not have the resources that Trump.

Of course I will vote for a papercup over Waffles in any case. My 2 cents, Trump may have an ego that is huge, but at least he has a record of accomplishing, failing, dusting himself off and succeeding again.

  135. MEET THE PRESS guest, Chuck Todd, Tim Shriver, Jim Cramer, host of CNBC’s “Mad Money” and Helene COoper, NYTimes Whiite House Correspondent sure LOVE them some President Obama.

  137. Tim,
The Randy R. article you posted is exactly as
I remember it. I believe Trump is using the info compiled by Jerome Corsi, who has a book on the BC question coming out soon. Adams also was an instrumental contributor. Thanks for the reminder.

How dare he say that it makes no difference if he is born in the US, that he would not be thrown out of office. Many others have played by the rules. How dare he say that the very fact that people voted for the man, excuses the fraud that he actually was not eligible to run for office. I don’t know how you can say that he should stay in office, when he was actually not eligible for the job to begin with. I think the whole group should go to jail, and some in the media.

I completely agree with you. Also remember Pelosi knows about all this. My proof? Remember for a presidential candidate to appear on a state ballot, the political party that candidate is a part of has to certify that that said candidate is “constitutionally qualified” to be put on that state ballot.

In the past, states accept this letter as proof of the consitutionalty of that presidential candidate, and so the state’s SOS does not do their own proofing of the candidate, and they place that candidate on the state ballot.

In 1996, in 2000, in 2004, all the letters the DNC certified to send to the states in included the words
“Clinton is consitutionally qualified, etc”, “Gore is constitutionally qualifed”, “Kerry is consitutionally qualifed”

guess what? in the 2008 letter, WHICH PELOSI SIGNED AND CERTIFIED, those words are missing.

Don’t tell me this was all a mistake, these people, I include the lamemedia, I include the DNC, Pelosi, Dean, should not only go to jail, should be tried for treason for knowingly lying to the American people and treating the US Constitution as a piece of toilet paper.

  140. When they have found out that people had falsified their degress, and experiences, those people, regardless of how successful they were (and he is not successful), lost their jobs. Why would the President of the US not. The people that voted for him, bought into the information peddled by fact checkers and the media, that he was eligible. So now a vote under the wrong facts, means the real facts have been dismissed by the voters, and they have validate going against the constitution???

So then does the fact that NIXON was elected into office, validate illegal things he or his staff did during his Presidency??? We all know that did not happen.

I hate to curse, but as my niece would say OMFG. Listen to this bull$hit from Waffles:
CRY ME A RIVER! why the hell did you steal this from Hillary then, she wanted the damn job, not just the title, she wanted the damn job, so did Mccain!!

““I just miss — I miss being anonymous,” he said at the meeting in the White House. “I miss Saturday morning, rolling out of bed, not shaving, getting into my car with my girls, driving to the supermarket, squeezing the fruit, getting my car washed, taking walks. I can’t take a walk.”

    ***********************************************

oh please, Mr. O…you want to be anonymous like I want to live on Mars…who does he think he is kidding…mr. I , me, I, me, me, me…and then more me…’My’ this and ‘My’ that…

…if this job is too much work for you…which it clearly is…then just don’t run for a second term…we won’t miss you…we know how tired you get and how much rest and relaxation and ‘family time’ you need…you deserve it, don’t run for the second term…go spend time with your family and find a nice private cushy job…

    *************************

btw…anyone catch Gloria Borgia…caught the end of Matthews Sun show and his last question is ‘Hillary is riding high in the polls, should she run in 2016?’

the three men say yes…go for it…commenting she is marked for destiny, etc…

Gloria says “I take her at her word that she is exhausted…she should quit while she is ahead…and go work on the Clinton foundation for a few years” (how dare you)

Cynthia Tucker also says ‘No, Hillary should not run…she is high in ratings because she is not political, if she gets in her negatives will go way up’

    ********************************

these women are still so jealous of Hillary Clinton…they can’t stand her success…

It is a good article. It is true. And if the American People had the capacity to learn from their mistakes then perhaps it would have some value. But as it is, it amounts to little more than a whine. Why? Because everyone is in favor of equality in principle–most everyone. Even Howard Dean. But what Talleyrand said about treason, also applies here. It is a matter of dates. When the sexism against Hillary by the left was in high season, that fat useless fuck sat on his big ass and the word was mum. He did not see it because he did not have cable television. Remember? But then after The Fraud had been installed he was all for women’s rights and in favor of blaming the Republicans for it, while failing to note that they at least had put a woman candidate on their ticket for vice president. Its what gets done or does not get done in the moment that counts. I am the last one in the world to support affirmative action. I think it is a system of racial or gender spoils, it creates reverse discrimination, and it provides a race based windfall to others simply because of their race. But it is equally wrong, when you have someone who is the most qualified candidate for the job, and you deny her that job on account of race or gender. Society as a whole is harmed. As it has been here–thanks to beefy frauds like fat fucking Howard Dean. If the left only knew about his family ties to Wall Street, I wonder if they would have the conviction to defrock him as their spokesman.

UIPA REQUEST CONFIRMS QUIP, EXPLAINS MULTIPLE ORIGINAL VITAL RECORDS OF BARACK OBAMA

    by John Charlton

(Jan. 12, 2010) — An intrepid citizen-researcher has confirmed that the man who goes by the name “Barack Hussein Obama II,” has an original vital record kept by the Hawaii Department of Health, which bears the name “Steve Dunham.”

The citizen researcher began her quest, following two lines of research: 1) the fact that the name “Steve Dunham” appears in records associated with Obama’s alleged mother, Stanley Ann Dunham; and 2) the fact that Obama himself is said to have quipped that his middle name was “Steve” (as some of his followers know cf. YYouhan’s comment).

    READ ON…………………….

  147. so I see President-WTF did his “rocky” climb up the steps of the Lincoln memorial yesterday.

I think there is something mentally, emotionally wrong with this man that he needs this much adulation. Even normal narracistic people are not this unhinged.

  148. Tim,

did you notice how much trouble O had completing a full sentence when he went to Lincoln memorial…without his teleprompter…

in those clips they are showing of him bursting in on people and acting all ‘man of the people’ he keeps stuttering and pausing for the words to finish his sentence…

…to say he is “not equipped” to be President is the understatement of our decade…

in the real world he would be at middle management and at risk for a lay off…he is lazy, unoriginal and predicably boring…

  149. I saw those TV clips.. why the hell was he running up the steps like that? What was he trying to prove?

Moon, that quip about ‘Steve’ is a tell(why Steve not John?) but that article is all over the place.

  150. I know its all over the place PM, its just i had not heard that before, so thought it relevant to post for us.

  151. in the real world he would be at middle management and at risk for a lay off…he is lazy, unoriginal and predicably boring…
    ———

which is why he went into politics but I don’t think even he dreamed (or he could con people to the extent) of becoming president some day.. what a life!

  152. moon, no harm done. I agree it is another piece of the puzzle..something is definitely rotten in the state of Denmark Hawii.

  153. Julian Assange: We Ignited the Arab Revolutions. Now We Will Rock Israel

    Sunday, April 10, 2011

The eccentric founder of Wikileaks, Julian Assange, told Yedioth Aharonoth’s Ronen Bergman that he is about to release 6,000 secret documents pertaining to Israel.

In an exclusive interview over the weekend (available in the Hebrew print edition only), Assange said that he has kept a lid on Israel-related leaks so far so as not to arouse the anger of the American pro-Israel lobby, which he considers to be very powerful.

“The question troubling the sleep of Israeli defense and intelligence heads is, ‘What else does Assange have?'” writes Bergman.

According to Bergman, the documents in Assange’s possession will upend what is known about:

    •international efforts to subvert Iran;
    • the war on terror financing;
    •the whereabouts missing Israeli soldiers Gilad Shalit, Ron Arad and others;
    •top-secret intelligence cooperation between Israel and ostensibly hostile Arab governments;
•mistrust and disagreement between Israel and the U.S. on how to deal with the Iran threat.
The question remains, will the leaks damage Israel, and how badly? And whose side is Assange on anyway?

Assange was widely quoted last month saying that opposition to Wikileaks is a “Jewish conspiracy.” But in the Bergman interview, Assange flat-out denied having said so.

“The quote was totally false,” he said. “Wikileaks has garnered support from Jews to a degree out of proportion to their percentage of the population. I don’t know why. It’s not a Zionist conspiracy on the part of our organization, but probably an indication of the liberal leanings and support for civil rights that are widespread in certain Jewish communities.”

They have lied through so many things now that even if they fake a document and show that as the original, they are afraid, somebody will pick holes in it and show that it is fake.

    NOT SEEN THIS BEFORE…………….

    His name is “Steve Dunham”!
    —————————–
This puts me in mind of a comment Larouche made to Harvey Schlanger: “if Barack Obama Sr was the real father, then it was merely a coincidence.” To give the name Steve Dunham suggests that at the time of birth, they knew who the mother was, but the father was . . . how shall I put it . . . a human question mark.

  159. Isn’t it convenient though that all principal characters who might know the truth are dead? What a story, what a con!

  160. Well, half the repubs are claiming that Boehner is a genius negotiator over the budget and the other more rabid half are claiming he sold out. It must be a decent compromise.

Speaking of rabid repubs, I saw Grover Norquist on Washington Jounal this morning doing his calm normal soft spoken guy impression said when the interviewer pointed out that the budget cuts he was proposing would not really cut the deficit, and old Grover said “it’s not about cutting the deficit, it’s about cutting govt spending”. There you have the real agenda, the same as it has been since Ronald Reagan, cutting govt. Grover also compared public worker salaries to private worker salaries by saying the average public worker salary was $$ but the median private worker salary was $$. Comparing apples to oranges.
    http://www.c-span.org/Events/Washington-Journal-for-Sunday-April-10/10737420810/

  161. I saw this comment at Uppity Woman:

There is some truth to what Lorac quotes about the donald.

RUSH: I saw you at the Oscars. That was you sitting there, right?

TRUMP: Right. Well, you know, The Apprentice, which is going on on Sunday night, is this big successful show, but Ari Emanuel is the biggest agent I guess in this country, and he represents me. His brother is running, and frankly they don’t even have a Republican candidate running. You know, over there in Chicago they have Democrats and they’re all running as Democrats essentially, but there’s no Republican or a Republican that’s gonna get more than, you know, anything more than 0% of the vote. So I like Rahm, I’ve always liked him as a person, and more importantly, Ari, his brother, is my agent. So I did make a contribution to him, and, frankly, I don’t think they had any Republicans running.

So is this Donald’s inside source for the dirt on Obama, Rahm’s brother?

  162. Well lets face it, Miss Dunham did had a reputation for let’s say being a free loving kind of gal……….nothing wrong with that but back then that often came with coverups.

  163. Conservative group puts out anti-Obama TV ad

An independent conservative group says it’s going up in some battleground states with a television commercial that’s critical of President Barack Obama, one of the first of what could be many ads by similar groups on the right.

  164. Grover also compared public worker salaries to private worker salaries by saying the AVERAGE public worker salary was $$ but the MEDIAN private worker salary was $$.

    =================

Now that’s blatant! Or possibly a misspeak? A real journalist would answer that by finding out the facts from some legitimate source. Any real journalists in the country…?

  165. Assange was widely quoted last month saying that opposition to Wikileaks is a “Jewish conspiracy.”

    ==============

Bzzt! He was paraphrased (apparently falsely) as saying that some particular Jews working AT SOME PARTICULAR UK PAPER had treated him unfairly.

Even that alleged quote is probably false. A journalist claimed Assange said something like that during a phone interview. However, no recording was produced. What kind of journalist does a phone interview with a prisoner without recording it?

I like it that ASsange responded to this accusation with fact: “Wikileaks has garnered support from Jews to a degree out of proportion to their percentage of the population.”

  166. btw…anyone catch Gloria Borgia…caught the end of Matthews Sun show and his last question is ‘Hillary is riding high in the polls, should she run in 2016?’

the three men say yes…go for it…commenting she is marked for destiny, etc…

    ================

So who were the three men? (Good for them!)

  167. Would someone tell me where I can find the true information that Obama has spent his own money to fight the “birther’s”.

    ================

Regardless of whose money it was, I’d like a good solid cite of public records showing how much was spent and who it went to and for what. “Lawyers’ fees” is just too vague. Which law firms? What services? How much for each lawsuit? Etc.

  168. When these unnamed journalist say Hillary should run in 2016, it is insincere because they know she won’t–and if she did, rest assured they would revert back to the same old game. The subtext reads do not challenge our messiah in 2012. I will leave that question to Hillary, but I think she knows the obstacles will be just as great as they were in 2008, women will not support her to the extent they should, and she is too old for a youth driven electorate. I do not think she wants it. Rove thinks the electorate will look for experience in the future. If he really believes that then he is whistling past the graveyard. This is an image driven culture, and the power of Madison Avenue and its obsession with youth will be the controlling factor.

  169. a free loving kind of gal……….nothing wrong with that but back then that often came with coverups.

    =============

I recently posted a cite from Time Mag saying the Obama divorce records showed a marriage date 6 months before the birth.

Even prior to 1961, there were a lot of 6 month premature births around….

Claiming the father was someone other than her husband would be rather odd. Especially if both men were equally black.

  170. Check out the liberal bias from David Gregory, what he asked Paul Ryan:

““I want to start where I started with Mr. Plouffe. How much responsibility do Republicans take for this spectacle of the near shutdown of the government, and shouldn’t you all be embarrassed?””

For the record, he did not ask poof boy that same question, he certainly did not ask if “he should be embarassed”

I guess the LSM is now in full Waffles relection mode, they don’t even pretend anymore.

  171. So is this Donald’s inside source for the dirt on Obama, Rahm’s brother?
    ——————————
It is not unlikely. Certainly there is motive and opportunity.

  174. Got an email this morning informing me Hillbuzz has gone ad supported with a new site. haven’t been there in months so I popped over to check it out. They have removed the Hillary picture and replaced it with a couple of bees and the capital. I have moved to the right since 08 but not quite that far(yet).

I was interested in what kind of traffic they get so I went to Alexa where it states that it is something around the 27,400 most visited site in the US and that the visitors are 65 plus? relative to the general internet population
here it states that the avarage age is 55-64. I would have thought that Hillbuzz skewed younger.
The cheetos site is the 927th most visited site in the USA according to Alexa.
I only know of Alexa. Is there another site that weights traffic?

  175. To a wsj writer a minute ago>

    Sir-

When you are close as you are to the trees it can be hard to see the forest. In my view, this agreement comes pretty damned close to a sell-out of those who favor fiscal responsibility. More important, and contrary to the thrust of your WSJ article, this agreement does not set the stage for effective future action. On the contrary, it merely demonstrates to Democrats many of whom who favor unbridled spending that the Republicans are unwilling to shut down government in order to restore fiscal responsibility. I heard what Mitch McConnell said, but it is rhetoric. Read Dick Morris’s reaction– inter alia, and you will get a fair sense of what I am talking about. Also, Obama was disengaged from the process, according to insiders and he was in full campaign mode. Yet your column makes it appear otherwise and that too is a problem. You need to be more skeptical of this Administration, and the other party as well, in order to help your readers understand what is happening to their future

Yes. If we have only their word on what the divorce decree says. For them and Obama it is ALL opinion, and half truth. I would have to see that divorce decree myself, and make sure it was not forged, before I could believe it. Time Magazine for me must meet a very high burden of proof, because in the past they have lied with reckless abandon, and when that is true past is prologue.

  177. Well, this settles it (snark). Not even Obama can have a copy of his own long form BC that is in Hawii..

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42519951

It is Isikoff writing and notice his title, national investigative correspondent.

But Wisch, the spokesman for the attorney general’s office, said state law does not in fact permit the release of “vital records,” including an original “record of live birth” — even to the individual whose birth it records.

“It’s a Department of Health record and it can’t be released to anybody,” he said. Nor do state laws have any provision that authorizes such records to be photocopied, Wisch said. If Obama wanted to personally visit the state health department, he would be permitted to inspect his birth record, Wisch said.

But if he or anybody else wanted a copy of their birth records, they would be told to fill out the appropriate state form and receive back the same computer generated “certification of live birth” form that everybody else gets — which is exactly what Obama did four years ago.

  178. I would have to see that divorce decree myself, and make sure it was not forged, before I could believe it.

If Time were going to lie about this, why claim a date 6 months before the birth instead of 9 months or more?

If the decree is public record, anyone could fact check and call them on it. The article was first published over a year ago and is still online at Time.com.

There’s a danger of losing our own credibility by being too paranoid.

  179. But Wisch, the spokesman for the attorney general’s office, said state law does not in fact permit the release of “vital records,” including an original “record of live birth” — even to the individual whose birth it records.

State law passed when? Since the controversy started, HI did make a law or regulation making it harder to see/get the long form.

  180. Not to worry, there is a long form BC sitting there in the vaults in Hawaii’s Department of Health record. Hawaii officials have made sure there is a long form BC sitting there. Any reporter trying to prove otherwise will go the way of Dan Rather. Obama and his cronies are just waiting for someone to come back with a BC (say the real one)and they will trot out the fake and prove the real one false.

    From the diaries by Jeff

As a friend of mine recently put it, I join the gentleman from Texas’s remarks, and know that I cannot surpass them. I would, however, like to add something to them.

Any honest reckoning of the budget deal the House GOP appears to have reached must view it as a result of negotiations in which one side — the Democrats — believed they had the upper hand, and the other — the GOP — agreed. From the start, the brain trust that nominally holds the majority in the House made clear that they would brutally knife their own mothers to avoid a shutdown, because the memory of the last is burned into their pathetic neurons for all of time, and they believe they’ll suffer the way the last Republican majority did. I don’t believe that’s an accurate assessment of the likely fallout of the shutdown the submorons on the Hill clearly felt they needed to avoid, and I’ll discuss that, but we all need to remember: This is our fault, yours and mine, and every activist’s and voter’s who helped these clowns get elected.

That’s sort of counterintuitive, isn’t it? It isn’t, if you think about it.

In 2006, most of the same cretins currently patting themselves on the back for convincing yet another Republican constituency not to show up for the 2012 elections were chosen by the House GOP to bravely march the caucus into a giant punji pit. After the bloodletting that year, chastened by their losses, the House GOP promptly … re-elected the same group.

After bumbling their way through the TARP debate — Eric Cantor covered himself in glory by wasting time proposing that TARP be structured as insurance, sort of like selling homeowner’s insurance to the guy whose house is a four-alarm blaze — and taking the Palin-reinvigorated McCain campaign into the toilet with them, thus managing to take more losses in the House and damn any chance at a Presidential win, the House GOP … re-elected the same group.

But! Chastened by their repeated drubbings, shown by the Tea Party that the same-old, same-old could not continue, knowing in their hearts of hearts that they weren’t being given the majority so much as the Democrats were having it taken away, the House GOP boldly set out to forge a new path by … re-electing the same group.

And guess which group of chuckleheads kept working for, fundraising for, doorknocking for, and oh yeah, voting for, the Mensa subset on the Hill? If your monitor isn’t backlit, you can probably see their reflections in the surface of what you’re reading.

So! We sent a group of frightened boys into negotiation with things that look and act like men, including Nancy Pelosi. And look at the results. Show of hands: Who’s surprised?

Oh, they say: No. This is just the first step. Look at these cuts! They’re real cuts! (Sorta.) And now we can move on to important things, like the FY2012 budget and … other stuff, on which, this time, we won’t cave, Honest Injun.

Let me tell you why that’s horsehockey.

To paraphrase Maggie Thatcher, the story of modern democracies is the left’s consistent turning of a screw into our collective gut, and when the right takes power, we don’t unscrew, we just hold the screw in place while we bleed to death. Each budgetary negotiation is not a discrete act, but is rather a process of setting the baseline for the next round.

In an ideal world, realizing that the public is, for the first time, actually seriously concerned about spending, and knowing that, inter alia, the House GOP would have gone in and told the Democrats that they were welcome to shut down the government to protect funding babykillers and to keep bleeding the Treasury dry, but they’d have the albatross around their necks for it. Would the Democrats have blinked? Good question. Their cretins believe that Bill Clinton won in 1996 because of the shutdown. (The ambivalent effects on Congressional seats are a bit more attenuated in their “minds.”) Would our message have prevailed? Also a good question. The mainstream media would have played this as “Republicans shut down the government to deny women mammograms,” but this isn’t the Nineties. We have different message channels than we used to, and anyone who doubts that need only ask if the words “death panels” would have entered the public lexicon if the New York Times had anything to say about it.

Instead, surprise! We gave up virtually everything for total cuts less than at least some Democrats publicly announced they would have yielded.

(But the troops! The troops wouldn’t have been funded!

Bzzt. No. The House GOP had the option to make their funding a separate bill, decided to play chicken with the troops’ paychecks, and then veered.)

So you say, but we’ll get them in FY2012! Let me ask you a serious question: Why on Earth would you think those negotiations will end differently? The House GOP just put a giant KICK ME sign on its collective rear. This negotiation is the baseline for the next, which unfortunately doesn’t mean bigger-and-better cuts, it means the Democrats know that they need only hold out until the next shutdown looms (or pick your crisis, really) and they know that the spineless weenies will cave in no time flat.

This is a war. We just ceded enormous ground in the first, pivotal battle because we were worried that we may lose other positions. Our troops are going to ask, not unreasonably, if our army couldn’t be bothered to advance the primary goal for which they were sent into the field, why we should think they’d bother with the others.

That is the hill on which we should be willing to die: Getting this monstrosity of a hole we’re leaving our children and grandchildren under control, even if it just means stopping the digging. Making the Democrats take ownership of funding with public money the murder of the unborn. Proving ourselves serious and committed and willing to take a knife in the chest to slice the other guy’s carotid (or femoral or whichever artery you prefer), knowing that knife will hurt but the other guy is gonna be on the edge of death for a long time after.

    But: Blink.

    http://kingworldnews.com/kingworldnews/KWN_DailyWeb/Entries/2011/4/5_Richard_Russell_-_US_Dollar_Collapse_Will_Accelerate.html

“With gold and silver strong as of late, the Godfather of newsletter writers Richard Russell had this to say in his latest commentary, “(Bill) Gross warns that 75% of the US budget is nondiscretionary and is entitlement-based. With Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, notes Gross, we are seeing $1 trillion deficits as far out as the eye can see. These three entitlements amount to 44% of Federal spending and their share is steadily rising.”

    Russell continues:

“Concludes Bill Gross, “Unless entitlements are substantially reformed, I am confident that this country will default on its debts, not in conventional ways, but by picking the pocket of savers via a combination of less observable, yet historically verifiable policies — inflation”. . . . . “You must attack entitlements,” warns Gross, “and make ‘debt’ a four-letter word.”

Then why did he spend $2 million in legal fees to avoid producing the actual certificate? Why didn’t he just say that is all we have? And why did State of Hawaii officials say they have seen the certificate but cannot disclose? This putative explanation does not pass the red face test. The fact that that geriatric hippie Neil Abercrombie is mixed up in this swearing it is all copesetic makes you even more suspicious. Neil never let a thing like the truth stand in the way of a good story.

    Terrible, at best.

  190. An argument I keep waiting for someone else to make who can do it more eloquently than me is: wiffles passed a health care bill which mandates that health history is reported. Everything about our health histories will be online. He signs a bill that requires that? If I step on a rusty nail in my 40’s and have to get a tetnus shot the doctor and the support staff will have the knowledge that I may have been treated for depression years before or had a treatable std or had an abortion. That info he is ordering us to submit/comply with but HE WON’T SHOW A BIRTH CERTIFICATE?

  191. Hillbuzz removed Hillary’s photo on their new site – they should also change their name to ShiftedRightBuzz, or PalinBuzz.

I’ll give you an example even more stark, my niece when she was little joined a preschool, they wanted a copy of the long form BC, not the BC form the hospital, but both. This was years ago, but I remembered this when the whole story of waffles not releasing his damn BC started surfacing.

  193. I wonder if this is the first comment about Trump and the BC issue from O’aides?

Obama aide dismisses Trump ‘sideshow behavior’

WASHINGTON (AP) — A senior White House aide says real estate tycoon and prospective GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump is displaying “sideshow behavior” in questioning President Barack Obama’s American birth and respect for the Constitution.

Senior White House adviser David Plouffe says that “there’s zero chance” Trump would be “hired” by the American people as president.

Plouffe’s comment, a riff on Trump’s business-themed reality TV show, came after he was asked on ABC “This Week” about the tycoon’s recent swipes at Obama.

Officials in Hawaii have long certified Obama’s birth there, but Trump has revived questions about whether the president was born abroad and now suggests Obama may have violated the Constitution.

  194. Hey Shez, link away, duplication never hurts.. 🙂 holdthemaccountable and I sometimes do that — independently getting here with the same link and at the same time too..

Isikoff, what a bootlicker.. So Trump stirs up a hornet’s nest and all these bootlickers go crazy and are now up in arms trying to say ‘nothing to see here.. move on.. everything is good..’

  195. shadowfax, I was just going to post that.

Looks like Trump has these fools spooked, the idiot poof man thinks Trump is going to sit down and shut up?

The man plays for keeps. The smoke out continues, it has now reached the WH.

  196. is it hillbuzz.org? I see Hillary’s picture there, is that the old site now? sorry I’m not seeing the new one I guess. I am curious how its changed.

  197. You know what, if Obama had a real BC, his perfect opportunity would have been to release it when McCain released his and the fact he didn’t do that and also tried to hide behind that short form thing is grist for the rumor mill. Now it is kind of too late to voluntarily do that and not just that, there will always be a certain section of the population who will think it is fake. I wonder what event will push this issue over the edge.

  198. Miki Booth posted a long form Hawaii BC on Facebook last Wed, (Apr 6th), that was obtained on March 15, 2011, less than a month ago. And another (her son?) is on the way.

They are all lying through their teeth. Ladyforest has a YouTube video, with proof of another lady ordering and getting a long form directly in their DOH offices fairly recently. And why do they only bring up the Dept of Health? Anybody can walk into your County Clerk office of the county you were born in and get your long form cert that way, or order it. I did that for my daughter a couple years ago. In my case, going through the central state vital records of Texas over the phone and by mail, I was sent a short form but it was missing the two items I wanted: my time of birth and hospital, which I needed for genealogy and astrological purposes. It was the central office in Austin that let me know how to get the full detailed one from the County Clerk, whom I promptly called next.

  199. Shadowfax
I have to say I have some respect for the powers that be behind hillbuzz. To my knowledge they were a couple of gay guys who busted thier asses for HRC and witnessed first hand caucus fraud. Like all of us they saw their votes and thier efforts at best marginalized. I was/am angry about 2008. I was probably slightly left of center and have now shifted slightly right. I just want some commen sense. We are a broke country and reality needs to be addressed. Yes I think it was pointless to wage a battle about NPR but I also think npr is beyond partisan and should get zip from the taxpayers. “Cultural Trusts” with billions get tax exempt status. The affluent gather at the most prestige events throughout the country and pay 2500 to attend a benefit. Then write off a shit load. Meanwhile the opera/ballet/orchestra/theater is still unaffordable to the avarage Joe/Jane who might want to take a kid to a show. Hundred of millions of dollars to stage Puccini and the ilk for the elite and kindergarten teachers are buying thier own construction paper.

Medieval justice… in the 21st Century: Woman caned in front of a baying mob for having an affair

  204. Pentagon’s second thoughts on Iraq withdrawal

By ROBERT BURNS, AP National Security Writer Robert Burns, Ap National Security Writer – Sun Apr 10, 10:20 am ET
WASHINGTON – Eight months shy of its deadline for pulling the last American soldier from Iraq and closing the door on an 8-year war, the Pentagon is having second thoughts.

Reluctant to say it publicly, officials fear a final pullout in December could create a security vacuum, offering an opportunity for power grabs by antagonists in an unresolved and simmering Arab-Kurd dispute, a weakened but still active al-Qaida or even an adventurous neighbor such as Iran.

The U.S. wants to keep perhaps several thousand troops in Iraq, not to engage in combat but to guard against an unraveling of a still-fragile peace. This was made clear during Defense Secretary Robert Gates’ visit Thursday and Friday in which he and the top U.S. commander in Iraq talked up the prospect of an extended U.S. stay.

How big a military commitment might the U.S. be willing to make beyond 2011? “It just depends on what the Iraqis want and what we’re able to provide and afford,” Gates said Thursday at a U.S. base in the northern city of Mosul where U.S. soldiers advise and mentor Iraqi forces. He said the U.S. would consider a range of possibilities, from staying an extra couple of years to remaining in Iraq as permanent partners.

Less clear is whether the Iraqis will ask for any extension

  207. Clinton Spotlights Murder of Bhatti, Christian Minorities in New Report

    Sat, Apr. 09, 2011

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Friday denounced the murder of Pakistan’s Minorities Minister Shahbaz Bhatti and Christian minorities in Iraq, Egypt, and Nigeria during her presentation of the U.S. State Department’s annual human rights report.

Clinton denounced Pakistan’s blasphemy law, which she stressed is enforced against Muslims as well as non-Muslims, and noted that earlier this year two government officials who tried to reform the law were killed as a result.

“In the first two months of 2011, two government officials in Pakistan who sought to reform the law, [Punjab] Governor [Salman] Taseer and [Minorities] Minister [Shahbaz] Bhatti, were targeted by a Fatwa and assassinated,” said Clinton while summarizing the findings of the human rights report.

Bhatti, the only Christian to ever be a member of Pakistan’s Cabinet, and Taseer, a Western-educated moderate Muslim, fought against the country’s blasphemy law while defending a poor Christian woman, Asia Bibi, who was the first woman to be sentenced to death under the blasphemy law.

Taseer was assassinated by his bodyguard on Jan. 4, while Bhatti was killed by Taliban militants in front of his mother’s home on March 2.

During her 11-minute talk, Clinton also drew attention to Iraq, Egypt, and Nigeria where “violent attacks by extremists have killed dozens of people who have been peacefully practicing their religions, Christians and Muslims alike.”

The State Department report examines the human rights conditions in over 190 countries for 2010. In the report’s introduction, the State Department acknowledged that sweeping changes across the Middle East over the past three months have influenced its perspective.

“At this moment we cannot predict the outcome of these changes, and we will not know the lasting impacts for years to come,” the report’s introduction states. “The internal dynamics in each of these countries are different, so sweeping analysis of the entire region is not appropriate.”

But the State Department said in the report that if citizens in the Middle East succeed to build sustainable democracies with their governments that respect the human rights of its people, then “the Middle East region, and with it the whole world, will be improved.”

“In recent months, we have been particularly inspired by the courage and determination of the activists in the Middle East and North Africa and in other repressive societies who have demanded peaceful democratic change and respect for their universal human rights,” said Clinton.

“The United States will stand with those who seek to advance the causes of democracy and human rights wherever they may live. And we will stand with those who exercise their fundamental freedoms of expression and assembly in a peaceful way, whether in person, in print or in pixels on the internet.”

Clinton spent most of her time describing three growing trends in 2010 that have “disturbed” the State Department: widespread crackdown on civil society activists, restriction of internet freedom, and repression of vulnerable minorities.

On crackdown of civil society activists, Clinton named Venezuela, Russia, and China as culprits of this particular human rights violation. And regarding restriction on internet freedom, she pointed a critical finger at Burma and Cuba. In total, the State Department found that 40 governments restrict internet use through various means.

Regarding the problem of repressing vulnerable minorities, the diplomat highlighted discrimination and harassment of racial, ethnic, religious and LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) people.

The Secretary of State said she and the U.S. government believe that gay rights is a human right and she is very concerned about state-sanctioned homophobia. In particular, she pointed to Uganda where homosexuality remains illegal and gay people are harassed and intimidated.

“We hope that this report will give comfort to the activists, will shine a spotlight on the abuses, and convince those in governments that there are other and better ways,” Clinton concluded.

This is the U.S. State Department’s 35th annual report on human rights in the world.

I was probably slightly left of center and have now shifted slightly right. I just want some commen sense. We are a broke country and reality needs to be addressed.

    Identical situation here, henry.

  209. I have to say that article about Trump being a “side show” by Plouffe…well the side show is Odumbo..

Well my new very special friend and I almost came to blows over this….Geez, you just don’t say crap about Hillary, Trump or the “teabaggers” as he calls them and expect me not to get pist….I almost wasn’t going to the Bahamas….

Religion and politics are blood issues for me…and the sooner he figures this out the better….LOL!

However he is a Reagan democrat…how the HELL he likes this idiot in chief, I will never know….it makes me sick….well he watches msnbc…inotherwards “state TV”.

I think I’ll start watching Al Jazeera just to piss him off…..

Well and he doesn’t like country music either…geez he is going to be alot of work…LOL!

  210. Shadowfax,
I can see sometimes where a Burka might come in handy….I work in a hospital and the powers that run the hospital are on this kick about smiling all the time….well I’m just not a smiling “all the time” kinda person….so I’m always in trouble with the “smile police”…so I told them the other day….I was going to covert to Islam and start wearing a Burka so they couldn’t tell whether I was smiling or not….LOL!

  211. I just Ploumf on Fox News — just didn’t stick around to listen to it. But doesn’t he look like a character from that movie(TV series) Monsters?

  212. Confloyd, wow, didn’t think I would hear that here. In my previous position and workplace (faculty in a univ), a colleague (Russian) suggested that I smile more like the other women in the dept and he even suggested that I had a beautiful smile.. one male American colleague went even as far as suggesting that ‘my culture probably forbids me from smiling at men..’ I am very well adjusted to this culture in appearance and interaction-wise with men and women (I don’t even have an Indian accent). Can you see them talk about another man like that?

  213. confloyd

I have lost some good friends over politics and religion.
I wish it wasn’t a big deal to me, and I could just pretend to be more ‘open minded’…but then they blow my cork and sometimes I just don’t wanna get over it.

Maybe you and your malefriend can set limits of what not to talk about. Then again, I tried it with a similar friend and it lasted about 5 minutes. 😉

If you figure out the formula, let me know.

Then again, look at James Carvile and his wife.

  214. Shadowfax,
Well I’m going to show him the video’s of Obama dusting off his shoulders…and all the rest of them….so he will understand where I’m coming from…it pains me that the party I grew up with and love…has been taken over by such a bastard….I can’t help it….I just can’t stand him…it has nothing to do with his color…I have many black friend who I admire…but this little gangsta makes my blood boil….I think he finally got it tonight…I sure hope so…cause I really, really want to go to the Bahamas….LOL!

    pm317,

Your very right…why are those men asking you to smile…its really disgusting and I bet your being a muslim or Indian makes it even worse…men sometimes are just pigs….no doubt about it… I was just joking…but I’ve been in Hellcare for 25 years and I love and care for all my patients but somedays you just don’t feel like smiling….but you still give good care and you do it lovingly, but this corporate bullshit gets on my nerves after all these years….bottom line…the people who own the hospitals care about money….not patients…who do they think they are fooling with all these ridiculous mission statements….waste of money…why don’t they give their employees a raise instead of spending copious amounts of money on advertising and stupid mission statements….that would make us all smile…..

  215. I also don’t want you all to think I’m hooked up with a bot or anything…he did vote for Hillary and thinks she’d of made a wonderful President, but he would never, ever vote rethug or as he calls them the “ruling class”…..so I think I can salvage him…he’s just a idiot “yellow dog”….wait til the truth comes out….I won’t let him forget it…LOL!

  216. confloyd, I am not Muslim but I do look Indian and am a woman and that creates a certain prejudice in some people’s mind.

  217. LOL, henry.. why? was it all the cursing? if you were to guess my gender from my writing it is that of a male. But I did grow up with four older brothers and got educated in a mostly male discipline and work in an area that is male-dominated.

Here is a fun site, gender genie: http://www.bookblog.net/gender/genie.php (they just use word count and patterns, not a very sophisticated logic)

  218. Trump is Final Proof that the Political Class Has Failed

    James Poulos · Apr. 9

There are two main theories cooperating to explain the Trump phenomenon:

    1. Donald Trump is today’s best self-promoter and professional opportunist.

    2. The Republican field of presumptive candidates for president is lame.

    Trumpness

But neither of these, nor even both together, can adequately explain what’s going on. We can’t even turn for supplemental help to subtheories that emphasize the rise of celebreality culture, the fall of Sarah Palin, or The Continuing Story of Bungling Barry. These variables all appear somewhere in the equation that has produced the Trump phenomenon. But none of them explain it.

Trump is suddenly “winning” as a political figure because the political class has failed. The authority of our political institutions is weak and getting weaker; it’s not that Americans ‘lack trust’ in them, as blue ribbon pundits and sociologists often lament, so much as they lack respect for the people inside them.

There is a lot of crazy surrounding the Trump phenomenon — some excellent, some embarrassing. But the massive fact dominating it all is that never before has such a famous outsider jumped into national politics with such an aggressive critique of a sitting president and the direction of the country — and never before has the response been so immediate and positive.

For now, that’s good news and bad news — as anyone knows who’s acquainted with Churchill’s dictum about eagles and parrots. No amount of His Trumpness can renew or replace American political authority. Republicans make a dangerous mistake when they think of politics as a pathological farce that can only be cured by a business worldview that sees economics as the master science. Even though, as Tocqueville observes, money really is more important in democratic times, money is not the measure of all things. We — we Republicans, we Democrats, we Americans — still need politicians who can rule wisely, bravely, and well. Look at what’s behind the huge novelty of Trump’s rise, and you find a venerable truth. There is no substitute for statesmen.

    =============

I recently posted a cite from Time Mag saying the Obama divorce records showed a marriage date 6 months before the birth.

Even prior to 1961, there were a lot of 6 month premature births around….

Claiming the father was someone other than her husband would be rather odd. Especially if both men were equally black.
    ____________

If Obama was born 2 years earlier (on August 4, 1959) he would not have been born an American citizen as Hawaii became an American state on August 21, 1959. Therefore, he would not be a naturalized American. His mother would have been terribly young (just approaching 16) if this were the case. One day during the campaign, there was an extra amount of grey in his hair and one reporter wondered if he were not older and they were coloring his hair in order to make it appear he was not quite as old as he was. That reporter did not state the reason why, but it seemed viable to me that he may have been born earlier and that is why during the campaign there was not a lot of evidence of greay (in my opinion). You look at him now and often his hair has more grey in it than black.

I don`t know what they are hiding, but they are hiding something.

  222. 2. The Republican field of presumptive candidates for president is lame.
    ******************
When you watch all the Sunday political shows you hear the same questions and the same answers over and over again, which exposes the current talking points for both parties. I heard two this morning from the repub party spokespeople: I believe we will have several really good candidates (in answer to why hasn’t a good repub candidate come forward yet), and all the budget cuts are for our children. Reinse, Ryan, Cantor, etc. all said the same thing.

There was no grey hair during the campaign as he kept it carefully dyed for the young demographic. Video of him this morning at the mall when he visited the tourists was shot from behind and you could see the scar on the back of his head plainly, if you were looking for it. If he kept his hair a little longer, it would be hidden.

Occasionally there were traes of grey and I heard the reporter comment on it once. He was not making a point of it, just said he hand`t seen it before. I made the other connection. He was pretty busy (worked harder than he ever has in his life) during that period and there was the one time that they didn`t catch it in time, I swear. I heard the reporter, though I forget who he was. I watched CNN at that time. I was not into the birth certificate thing. I was more into Hillary winning the primary.

  228. How did Obama get his CT SSN#?

Did he steal it from a CT person died in 1977?

Barack Obama is residing today in the White House, using CT SS number 042-68-4425, issued in CT in and around March 1977 to an elderly individual named John Paul Ludwig, who was born in 1890, who is presumed dead and whose death was either never reported to the SS administration or reported and deleted from the database by someone.

Obama’s maternal grandmother Madelyn Dunham, worked as a part-timer or volunteer in the Probate Office in the Honolulu Hawaii Courthouse. Thus she would have access to the estate files of anyone who died there. Thus if the elderly man originally from CT died intestate in Hawaii with no known relatives, Grandma Dunham would have known this person is a prime candidate to steal the SSN of since there would be no known surviving family worrying about the death benefit from SSN and that the benefit was not likely applied for and thus SSA did not know he died.

Thus the SSN remained active for the deceased person and Obama could “adopt” it as his own. This is a clear case of identity theft at the federal level.

This is what we know about Ludwig:

In 1924, Jean Paul Ludwig worked for Senator Reed of PA, in Washington DC.

No wonder the repubs have to act so rabidly partisan on every issue when they have to listen to insulting venon like this from their ‘base’. And their voters got intimidated by this ass too.
    ————————
In fact, the critique is spot on. Politics ain’t bean bag. We are talking about the survival of this nation. The Republicans were voted in not because the public trusts them or forgives them for Bush. They were voted in to stop Obama cold in his tracks before he destroys this country. They promised to cut $100 billion and Boehner got only 38 billion. And he cowered at the threat of a government shutdown. I understand the psychology here. Years ago I worked for a company that had a strike in New York long before I went to work for them. It was a bad strike, and they never forgot it. We needed to build in them a sense of strike survivability. Otherwise they would leave too much on the table. I guarantee you the dims are happy with this deal, and Boehner should be ashamed of himself. If there was ever a time to stand on principle and keep the promise it was now. Frankly that is the internal assessment which is now being vetted. A bad deal which sets a bad precedent for the more difficult battles that lie ahead, a harbinger of future surrenders. As I said the other night the easy way out for these people is to inflate the money supply–and just keep spending. Bernake is doing that now. Remember the original plan which was to print the new money, meet the current exigency and then pull it back so there would not be inflation. Well guess what they aint pulling it back. And that means run away inflation that robs every American on a fixed income of a livlihood. That is why we are tough on Boeher–and by we I mean conservatives–not Republicans.

This deal or sell out represents a strategic failure by Boehner

I may not be a Trump fan, but kudos to him for not giving up on the bc issue.

As well, the conspiracies that are swirling in my mind about this will either bring down some very powerful and evil men, or have these same very powerful and evil men go after him with a vengeance.

Was the number given to Ludwig in 1977 (when he was 87 years old???), or is 1977 the year that the SSN found it’s way to BO’s name….?

Trump doesn’t let anyone get away with any unapproved soundbites.
    ————-
Yes, there is an art form here. CNN must be running scared. Instead of light weigh Malveaux who carries on like a Stalinist prosecutor, they bring in their heavy weight (literally and figuratively) to question the Donald and impress upon him the error of his ways–or to shut up and stop letting the cat out of the bag because it would embarrass the political class.) Enter Rolly Polly Candy Crowley. She lets Donald run his mouth and then moves in for the kill. She says we checked and the hospital released the record . . . he looks at her shrugs his shoulder and says who know its been 15 years. His dismissive attitude toward her question was excellent. With CNN it is all just theater now–no room for the truth. So play the game.

Seems to me, he must have alot of info ready to set a trap. I cannot see him saying all this without a whole lot of information ready to unload.

    ____________

I got hooked the day Hillary lost the first primary and I checked in to his speech to find out just what was so great about this guy. I listened to him about five minutes and thought, “What the hell are people thinking?” It was me, me, and more me. And I could not stand the sound of the sing-song voice or whatever it is that describes it. I always liked Hillary and didn`t expect her to lose that primary. I was quite shocked at how sad I felt for her. From that day on, I was checking the senate in Chicago, the University of Chicago Law School and everything else I could find. I was convinced that he wasn`t what they said he was from day 1. I have been following this site ever since, which I think is the best site on Hillary, although I am fond of No Quarter, and during the primary I followed Taylor Marsh until she went wonky and of course, Hillary`s own website. I just do not post much and I work from 4:00 to 12:00 midnight and am not usually around when things are happening.

And I think Admin is great and don’t know how he/she keeps up with everything. He/she certainly is more knowledgeable thanmost.

I check every day, but am not a huge poster.

  235. I get a kick out of how such huge media groups do investigation. It does not sound very through to me. Ya verily I say unto you in the land of oz, when Obama was born it was the policy for the hospitals to report these births. Well, that could be, but that does not mean that people could not be bought off to place a nice little addition in the hospital report. What harm would it do. As Trump said, his grandmother I am sure wanted this baby to be an American citizen, and who could possible figure this out later. Surely they would take the word of an announcement made in the paper, and getting it done through the newspaper would be wonderful.

It never enters their heads, even though they do investigative reporting, that this is a farce, and they have been used. If the Hospital made an announcement, then what happen to the long form, they screwed up, it got destroyed in a fire, surely the almighty hospital would not screw up, and Crowley indicates that newpapers were perfect, and surely they always followed their policy, and surely no one made alittle money on the side.

That is was the policy so long ago, does not make it so. Again WHERE IS THE DAM LONG FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE, CROWELEY, PRODUCE IT OR SHUT UP, otherwise you look just stupid.

On my face book this was brought up, and a poster said it was stupidity. I wonder if proven wrong, how you retreat from that statement. Oh I know, well I trusted all these people and they betrayed me. I trusted that O and his staff would support Women and gay’s and a host of other things, and he betrayed me.

Well, maybe if you had not been so trusting in the first place and demanded that long form, we would not be in the crappy situation we are in. So who looks stupid now. Oh, by the way, when McCain was questioned, he whipped his out, long form. So why did you let your boy get away with less. That is right, we are just plain stupid for Demanding authentic proof that the constitution of the United States is being observed.

  236. OMG@ PM – he looks like abig ole’fag in that pic. and before anyone gets their panties in a wad – I can say that – I have a female version’s club card.

The state dept has stricter standards for US passports, they explicitely say they do not want just a COLB, it has to come from the from that health dept of that state, with a signature within 1 year of that birth. That photoshopped COLB doesn’t even have a signature like The Donald correctly stated in that CNN interview with croley

    http:// travel . state . gov / passport/passport_5401 . html

  239. Anybody remember what the passport hullabaloo was during the primary — somebody breaking into the passport office..I think someone related to that episode was later found dead on the streets of DC?

  240. I’m just stunned that poofy boy actually responded in such an inviting way, by that I mean, he could have answered the question in a way that closed the door, instead he took a mosquito swipe at Trump, and Trump now has been given a major item to slam and directly at the WH.

  241. PM – IMHO – MO KNOWS Bam is on the down low – in that pic and everywhere else. She just wants the power and the glamor. Is she a fag hag? yes. In a word. As is jarrett. Barryboy was the perfect vehicle to make her (and them) – if you will excuse the expression – Queen for a Day!

I have gaydar. There are just SOME PICTURES OF MEN that tell a different story than they want you to see. Your post is one of them. IMO

  242. I just read the 22 CFR 51.42(a), req for proof of NB US citizenship for a US passport

so if no BC, then other proof the State dept needs as proof of being born in America is as follows, and of course Waffles cannot produce any of this either

“(b) Secondary evidence of birth in the United States. If the applicant cannot submit a birth certificate that meets the requirement of paragraph (a) of this section, he or she must submit secondary evidence sufficient to establish to the satisfaction of the Department that he or she was born in the United States. Secondary evidence includes but is not limited to hospital birth certificates, baptismal certificates, medical and school records, certificates of circumcision, other documentary evidence created shortly after birth but generally not more than 5 years after birth, and/or affidavits of persons having personal knowledge of the facts of the birth”

  243. My sister puts an ad in her paper in Manitoba, Canada every time one of her children has a baby. It means nothing. She is just making an announcement to her neighbours that one of her children – which the neighbours knew and had relationships with before the children grew up and moved on – has a new child. In small towns, people often look for this type of thing as it is a way of keeping up with those they went to school with, and such.

I get a kick out of all the television people who believe an announcement means anything other than what it is. While it mentions the date and name of new child, it does not give the name of doctor, place of birth, hospital or any pertinent detail.

  244. Yes PM, and Stanley Annes passpost was destroyed – by “policy” or “accident”

never could figure out wich. And Obama’s peeps (Brennan?) was in the passport office as wha some woman who worked on his campaign. They blamed it on a staffer in State – and CONVENIENTLY HRC’s AND McSames were also ‘breached”

Chicago 101\\We KNEW it stunk then. We know more so now

It amazes me that the media, who are totally obama-corrupt, are even bringing the issue back up in mainstream news. The idea that they think they can stomp on Trump is ludicrous.

I may not be a Trump fan, but kudos to him for not giving up on the bc issue.

When will it get to be our turn to turn all the wrongs around and get going in the positive direction we long for, Peace and Prosperity, that lately, seems like a unappreciated dream we had so long ago- it almost doesn’t feel like it ever happened at all.

In that video, Crowley mentions the Annenberg Trust validated Obama’s BC. Obama was on the board of directors of Annenberg at one time along with the author of his book and Undergrounder, Bill Ayers.

  248. Fact Check. org is also another compromised site at one time that was deemed reliable. I haven’t checked on snopes lately, I’m not aware of their degree of reliability.

I will say one thing though that andyp had made note of earlier… something I remember reading about while doing the research on the Constitutional requirements for the presidency i.e.”must be a Natural Born Citizen”… and I do remember researching when Hawaii acquired it’s statehood noting the closeness in the date of Obama’s birth and the date HI became a state. Meaning, the Dunhams (grandparents) might have been aware HI was going to get it’s statehood soon… but weren’t exactly sure when.. so they had Stanley register Barry in HI because they felt later on they could jockey the numbers around having his birth coincide with HI becoming part of the US making him a NBC.

And another thing- Barry became Barry Soetoro when he was 6 or 7 yrs old when he was adopted by the stepfather.. so, there is another coincidence colliding with getting that SS # in 1977..

    ————————————–

    Dr. David Kaiser

    History Unfolding

I am a student of history. Professionally, I have written 15 books on history that have been published in six languages, and I have studied history all my life. I have come to think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is simply a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes these exist, but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a sharper focus..

Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about ten to fifteen years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.
We demand and then codify into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people we know they can never pay back? Why?
We learned just days ago that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has “loaned” two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms. That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the $700 billion we all argued about so strenuously just this past September. Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of “we the people,” who loaned our powers to our elected leaders. Apparently not.

We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy… Why?

We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards back mediocrity. Why?

We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it simply wants marriage to remain defined as between one man and one woman. Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?) We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?

Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, social security is nearly bankrupt, as is Medicare and our entire government. Our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and I know precisely what I am talking about) – the list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth.. It is potentially 1929 x ten…And we are at war with an enemy we cannot even name for fear of offending people of the same religion, who, in turn, cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.

And finally, we have elected a man that no one really knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla , Alaska .. All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders? No?

Oh, of course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe are more important.)

Mr. Obama’s winning platform can be boiled down to one word: Change. Why?

I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now.

This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming. Indeed, it is! And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.

And that is only the beginning..

As a serious student of history, I thought I would never come to experience what the ordinary, moral German must have felt in the mid-1930s In those times, the “savior” was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they should have known was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory. Conservative “losers” read it right now.

And there were the promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and frowned and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his “brown shirts” would bully and beat them into submission. Which they did – regularly. And then, he was duly elected to office, while a full-throttled economic crisis bloomed at hand – the Great Depression. Slowly, but surely he seized the controls of government power, person by person, department by department, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The children of German citizens were at first, encouraged to join a Youth Movement in his name where they were taught exactly what to think. Later, they were required to do so. No Jews of course,

How did he get people on his side? He did it by promising jobs to the jobless, money to the money-less, and rewards for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe , and across the world. He did it with a compliant media – did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and … . … change. And the people surely got what they voted for.

If you think I am exaggerating, look it up. It’s all there in the history books.

So read your history books. Many people of conscience objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and ridiculed. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lordsin England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though. And the world came to regret that he was not listened to.

Do not forget that Germany was the most educated, the most cultured country in Europe . It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And yet, in less than six years (a shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidency) it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors.. All with the best of intentions, of course.. The road to Hell is paved with them.

As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong by closing my eyes, having another latte, and ignoring what is transpiring around me..

I choose to believe the evidence. No doubt some people will scoff at me, others laugh, or think I am foolish, naive, or both. To some degree, perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe-and why I believe it.

I pray I am wrong. I do not think I am. Perhaps the only hope is our vote in the next elections.

By passing this along, perhaps it will help to begin the awakening of America as to where we are headed.

  251. If Trump is going to keep talking about there being a difference between a BC and a certification of life birth, he needs to point out that a BC has information on it you can use to verify it, but the certificate does not.

For example, a BC says the hospital name, the doctor’s name, where the parents lived, what the parents’ jobs were, etc. All things that can be researched and verified. That’s a big reason that the BC is more important, IMO.

Hey, we Christians gave that up, what, a couple of hundred years ago. More lately we just expelled kids from school, fired people from their jobs, impeached a President….

That makes us totally different from Islam, doesn’t it?

SHould I find long stories about each US woman denied contraception or even a pap smear, and post them here? It’s the same opperssion, we’re no different.

  253. I would imagine a woman being flogged would NOT feel it is the same as being denied contraception. I think you should go back to counting words. And no fair letting the computer count them for you.

  254. lorac,

If you were in a hospital with rape injuries so bad you couldn’t leave, and the hospital refused you emergency contraception — would you really prefer 9 months of pregnancy to a flogging?

All such mistreatment of women is the same misogyny. Our country and our religion are no better.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/obamas-new-approach-to-deficit-reduction-to-include-spending-on-entitlements/2011/04/04/AFpDoDHD_story.html

Obama’s new approach to deficit reduction to include spending on entitlements

President Obama this week will lay out a new approach to reducing the nation’s soaring debt, proposing reductions in spending on entitlements such as Medicare and Medicaid and renewing his call for tax increases on the rich.

In an effort to go on the offensive in the battle over government spending, Obama will look for cuts in “all corners of government,” senior adviser David Plouffe said on several Sunday talk shows.

Although Obama’s health-care law is projected to curtail Medicare spending over time, “we have to do more,” Plouffe said Sunday, marking the first time the administration has made an explicit commitment to changes in entitlement programs for the purpose of deficit reduction.

Contrasting the president’s approach with what Republican leaders have put forward, Plouffe said Obama will use a “scalpel” and not a “machete” as he seeks to preserve funding for education and other areas he considers crucial to the country’s long-term economic success.

Still, Plouffe said Obama is committed to doing more to slash the fast-rising cost of Medicare and Medicaid, to roll back George W. Bush-era tax cuts for those earning more than $250,000 and to even discuss changes to Social Security.

For Obama, the political stakes are high. He will be trying to convince voters concerned about the growing debt that he is serious about cutting government spending and Democratic allies that he will protect key government programs, while also working to ensure spending is not cut so much that it impairs economic recovery.

In a speech scheduled for Wednesday, Obama will present his most extensive response to date in the debate over controlling federal spending. White House advisers have been discussing for months whether he should take the lead on deficit and debt reduction, concluding that his best approach for beating back Republican proposals for much deeper cuts would be to put forward his own vision.

    read on………………….

  261. For Obama, there are 3 serious anomalies surround his birth and early childhood.

1… the absence of a long form certificate of live birth.

2… his adoption by step-father Soetoro at 7 yrs old and the ramifications set forth by the Indonesian government and the Muslim school he attended because of their citizenship mandates and strict ethnic school requirement.

3… the discovery of a social security number issued from the state of CT in 1977, claimed as Obama’s belonging to a dead man.

So far there are 3 incontrovertible facts to work around.. They are all linked together within a seven year period. In the Art world, these factual anomalies would translate into negative space surrounding the subject matter. We need one of two things to complete the puzzle. More negative space or more subject matter for a clear picture of who and what we are dealing with..

  262. “maybe Obama’s problem is his birthday, maybe he is older than he says he is.”

Donald Trump fires back after White House aide declares that he has ‘zero chance’ to be President

The White House stopped just short of dismissing Donald Trump as a clown Sunday – calling him a “sideshow” act with “zero chance” of becoming president.

    SNIP

Trump countered that he represents Obama’s biggest nightmare in the 2012 race and that the White house is running scared.

“I know for a fact that I am the only candidate they are concerned with,” Trump told The Daily News. “They are very concerned because I am challenging him as to whether or not he was born in this country where there is a real doubt.”

“He should focus on properly dealing with the Chinese, the Saudis and all of the other nations that are ripping off the United States instead of making up quotes about Donald Trump,” the “Apprentice” host blustered on. “Barack Obama has done a terrible job as president.”

While Trump is not viewed as having a real chance at winning the presidency, experts say his remarks cut to the core of what irks the White House the most, which explains the hostility behind Plouffe’s diss.

“There is no issue that irritates the White House more than the birther issue,” said Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics.

“They view it as a symbol for those who refuse to acknowledge Obama as a legitimate president,” he said. “The fact that someone as prominent as Trump is bringing this up is a source of real frustration.”

Sabato predicted that despite the noise Trump is making, he would soon fade away.

    …………………………….

and there you have it….”There is no issue that irritates the White House more than the birther issue,” said Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics.”

  265. Texas may ban courts from considering foreign laws

    By ANNA M. TINSLEY
    FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM

    April 9, 2011,

AUSTIN — Texas lawmakers are considering whether to ban state courts from considering foreign religious or cultural laws, such as the Islamic law of Shariah.

The goal “is to require a Texas court to uphold and apply only the laws ordained by the constitutions of (Texas and the United States), prohibiting any other interpretation,” said Rep. Leo Berman, R-Tyler, a former Arlington mayor pro tem. “This is now happening all over Europe … and in Dearborn, Mich. … and it could spread throughout the United States.

“We all know what Shariah law does to women – women must wear burqas, women are subject to humiliation and into controlled marriages under Shariah law,” he said. “We want to prevent it from ever happening in Texas.”

A bill by Berman to prevent foreign laws from being recognized in Texas courts, as well as a twin proposal by Rep. Randy Weber, R-Pearland, went before the House Committee on Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence last week. Both bills were left pending.

Texas is among several states – including Alaska, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Tennessee – considering bans on the recognition of foreign laws, according to the Institute for U.S. Law.

    Questioning necessity

The bill does not specifically name Shariah, but Berman and others have cited it as a concern. They note increasing instances of other states recognizing foreign laws to, for example, give a father custody of a child or deny a restraining order for a wife, saying a husband acted under Shariah.

Shariah is a set of core principles that most Muslims recognize, as well as a series of rulings from religious scholars. It covers many areas of life, and different sects follow different versions.

Several civil-rights and interfaith groups have blasted the legislative efforts in Texas and other states as unconstitutional and unfair to Muslims.

“It’s not just happening in Dearborn,” Pat Carlson, a Fort Worth woman and president of the conservative Texas Eagle Forum, told the committee. “This is something happening in other states.”

When asked by a committee member whether she thinks Shariah is invading the country, Carlson said, “It has got tentacles in our country.”

Officials with the American Civil Liberties Union and Texas Freedom Network were among those opposing the bill, although they didn’t testify.

Some committee members questioned whether the bill is needed.

“Even if what you are saying is true, there are extremists on every end of the political spectrum,” said Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-San Antonio, a committee member. “So what makes you think they’re going to take over the country?” (because they announced it, nimrod!)

    Business concerns

Lee Parsley, president of the Austin-based Texas Civil Justice League, said a broad bill preventing foreign laws could affect companies doing business in Texas that might agree, for instance, to operate under Mexican law to curb liabilities.

“I have concerns for Texas businesses,” said Parsley, of the lawsuit reform coalition group. “It creates uncertainty for contracts.”

But Dorrie O’Brien, a Grand Prairie woman who worked to add a plank to the Republican Party of Texas’ platform in 2010 asking state lawmakers not to let Shariah be recognized in Texas, said lawmakers need to take a stand.

“Shariah law is a complete way of life,” she said. “We cannot have a substitute law … running alongside our Constitution.

“There can only be one set of law recognized in the United States. Shariah law goes against everything that we believe in.”

Weber said Shariah isn’t the only foreign law that he and others are concerned about.

“We are concerned about any other foreign law,” he said. “This is a unique opportunity … to do something really historic.

“It doesn’t mean that we are paranoid. It just means we protect our own.”

  266. When i look at Obama, i think of Angelina Jolie’s film Salt, her character was a child that went away on a trip somewhere but a completely different child made to look and act the same came back in her place but as a sleeper agent.

Maybe those 8 months in Pakistan really were a changing experience.

  267. maybe he is older than he says he is
    —————————————–
If so, that might account for his claiming to be conceived during a Civil Rights march. Or would that make his mother 13 at his birth?

  268. ‘SHould I find long stories about each US woman denied contraception or even a pap smear, and post them here? It’s the same opperssion, we’re no different.’

As a matter of fact, I was going to suggest you post anything written within the past two decades which chronicles Christians murdering, beheading, stoning and torturing women and infidels.

    Then I remembered.

You can’t. There are no such stories of Christian savagery and murder within the past decades.

The 1600’s doesn’t count. I want to know what’s happening NOW! And you are either deliberately ignoring it, dismissing it or trying to cover it up. Why? Like I posted earlier you are either an obot, a muslim man or a foolish leftie woman. In any case you have zero credibility on this blog.

On any of the leftie forums you would have been banned. If you lived in a muslim country and expressed views contrary to the proscribed mantra you would be killed. Lucky for you you live in the US, a Christian dominated country.
