Run, Bo, Run

Now’s the time boy. Make a run for it. Head for the hills.

Avoid people. You won’t be able to tell the good guys from the bad guys. Some might harbor you and keep you safe. However others might turn you in for the publicity. You can survive on fruits fallen from trees. Stay under cover. Run, Bo, Run.

While you are kept captive, leashed to that horrible name, you have to be watchful every second. You don’t know what you are living with. None of us completely do.

For instance, your “master”, the one who promised once again for the third or fourth time to keep completely focused on the economy, turned his focus away from the economy to express compassion for this guy:

“The L.A. Times reports that Michael Vick has been released from prison, the rest of his sentence to be served at his 3,538-square-foot home in Hampton, Va., with the expectation that he will be officially released from Federal custody on July 20th.

There has been widespread speculation as to whether Vick will return to his lucrative football career, and which teams would be willing to take the PR hit involved in hiring him. Although NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell characterized Vick’s actions as “not only illegal, but also cruel and reprehensible,” he has declined to make a decision on whether Vick could be reinstated as an NFL player until his sentence is officially over.

Some commentators have argued that Vick should be allowed to play because he “made a mistake” and has now “paid his debt.” Perhaps these people are under the mistaken impression that all Michael Vick did was fight some Pit Bulls. But dog fighting, as cruel a crime as it is, is the least of what Michael Vick did.

According to the prosecutor’s statement of facts in the case, between 2002 and 2007 Michael Vick and his co-conspirators Purnell Peace, Quanis Phillips and Tony Taylor killed thirteen dogs by various methods including wetting one dog down and electrocuting her, hanging, drowning and shooting others and, in at least one case, by slamming a dog’s body to the ground.

Michael Vick didn’t make a mistake. He didn’t “make a bad choice.” Over a period of five years he forced dogs into deadly fights, and he personally killed, or conspired to kill, thirteen dogs. He didn’t pick a quick, painless method of killing, but instead chose a variety of means that qualify as torture. Pit Bulls are powerful dogs. Imagine how hard you would have to work to kill a Pit Bull by forcibly drowning him.”

That Vick guy was released and given a lucrative contract to play football. He’s now a celebrity hero. And your “master” Barack Obama thinks that is just grand.

“The Atlanta Journal-Constitution also reports, “Sometimes [the dogs] were starved to make them more vicious in the pit.”

And Michael Vick didn’t confine the abuse and killing to his own Pit Bulls.

According to a November 2008 ESPN.com news story, a report prepared by the USDA’s inspector general-investigations division revealed that Vick, Purnell Peace, Quanis Phillips and Tony Taylor also put family pet dogs into the ring with trained pit bulls. [snip]

Supporters say Vick apologized for his actions. But in his famous press conference apology, Vick admitted only to fighting dogs, despite the fact that he pled guilty to all charges, including the killings. He admitted to “making mistakes” and “immature acts.” But deliberately and repeatedly planning dog fights and repeated premeditated violent killings of dogs are not “mistakes.” They are not the acts of someone who’s merely immature. They are the acts of a sociopath and a predator.”

Birds of a feather, Bo. Your “master” took time out from his all important vacation to praise the “second chance” given the monster – the sociopath, the predator. We’re in Jeffry Dahmer territory here Bo.

We’re not saying that your “master” is a dog killing sympathizer. We’re not saying he is a dog killer or animal killer either. What we are saying is that no one knows who this guy is. Common sense tells us to watch out. You should watch out too Bo.

It’s gotten to the point that even your “master’s” strongest defenders and loin worshipers have begun to wonder who he is, why he does not release basic source documentation like his birth certificate.

After all these years “journalists” are beginning to ask for the most basic documentation about the guy who has you on a leash – what he stands for other than himself and celebrities – even if they are dog torturers and killers. Perhaps it is a WikiLeaks aftereffect that has awakened a desire for source documents. Perhaps some of these “journalists” have recalled that Richard Nixon episode when that president afraid of the full truth emerging tried to palm off Senator Stennis as a valid source of information (instead of the source documents themselves) in the failed “Stennis Compromise” which lead to the “Staturday Night Massacre”.

The newly elected liberal Obama Dimocrat Governor of Hawaii has even angrily promised to “prove” that he really knows who Obama is. Get the facts out Governor, whatever your motivations are.

Who is this guy, Bo? Do you know? Fouad Ajami makes a guess:

“What most engaged Mr. Obama before his rise to the highest office in the land was his own biography. He had stood aloof from the weight and the lessons of American history; where so many of his predecessors had sought comfort and guidance in the ordeal of presidents past, there was no great deference in him to the burdens those 43 men carried. He didn’t look like those other presidents on the dollar bills, he said early on in his political odyssey.

“Ghosts,” he said in one meeting with his national security advisers when the late Richard Holbrooke, his representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, tried to draw parallels between Lyndon Johnson’s dilemmas in Vietnam and the current American engagement in Afghanistan. Vietnam was not particularly relevant to him, he told Bob Woodward in “Obama’s Wars.” He was 13 in 1975, he said, when South Vietnam fell: “So I grew up with none of the baggage that arose out of the dispute of the Vietnam war. I also had a lot of confidence.”

In truth, his dilemma in Afghanistan was remarkably similar to that of Johnson. It was a “bitch of a war,” Johnson dubbed the Vietnam dilemma, a war he prosecuted without ever taking to it. By all appearances, there is an echo of all that in Mr. Obama’s view of Afghanistan.

Now and then Mr. Obama’s devotees nodded to American history with evocations of FDR’s New Deal and superficial parallels to JFK—the good looks, the glamour, the young children. But Kennedy had seen combat, was a Cold Warrior, and believed in the burdens of American power. Yes, he charmed Parisians and Berliners—but as the standard-bearer of an American empire of liberty. He never journeyed abroad to apologize on behalf of his country.

A president steeped in history would have never pushed ObamaCare on so thin a reed of public approval. In the great movement of American history, Americans haven’t worshipped at the altar of charismatic leadership. They have been the most skeptical of peoples. They may have trusted several of their presidents through wars and economic downturns, but they have insisted on the wisdom of the public and on the ability of this republic of laws and institutions—and precedent—to see its way out of great dangers. [snip]

To be sure, there was panic in the midst of the recession of 2008. That anxiety helped carry Mr. Obama to office; it bridged the gap between Mr. Obama and the white working class in the rust belt states. But it did not last. In their infinite wisdom, ordinary Americans caught in the grip of a terrible economic malady still cared about the direction of the country and the debt burden their children would come to carry.”

Ajami sees Obama as an alien creature devoted to nothing but his autobiographies and the narcissism therein. Certainly the obsession is not for core values and issues of importance:

“Mr. Obama had demonized the Bush tax cuts. They were, in the full length of his campaign, emblematic of the politics of greed and heartlessness. But he came around. There was no need to love or embrace them: It was enough that the president came down from on high to accept the logic of things and to step aside in the face of the popular revolt against big government and higher taxes.”

Tony Blankley, who fought side by side as Newt Gingrich’s lieutenant has his own assessment:

“In the first week or so, the president capitulated to Ronald Reagan’s supply side theory that tax cuts expand the economy, and tax increases contract it. The central policy was to not let expire the Bush tax cuts, not only because it would be tough on middle-class taxpayers, but also, the White House argued, because keeping tax rates down would be good for the economy.

Even the great triangulator, Bill Clinton, never conceded this point. In 1993, he raised taxes by about $400 billion to manage the deficit. And, while the economy slowed down briefly to a mere 1.9 percent GDP growth, the new dot-com technology business brought us the great economic expansion of the later 1990s — so Clinton never conceded to supply side theory.

And don’t think Obama merely took a week of embarrassment for that concession in December. We economic conservatives are still cheerfully reminding the public half a century later that President John Kennedy endorsed supply side marginal tax cuts. You can bet that Republicans will be reminding the public decades from now that “even Barack Obama” agreed to supply side tax-cut theory “way back in 2010.”

This is a historical intellectual capitulation of the first order by the Democratic Party president.”

Democrats will forever pay for the gifting of the nomination to this creature from Chicago. If in the off chance that the economy improves it will be Republicans who will take credit for their “supply side” success. There will be no Democratic or Obama Dimocrat success because the capitulation has been total.

To survive the party must run away from Obama.

You too should run away Bo. Run, Bo, Run.

  1. “Looks like the rumour Rahm left Obama on bad terms is true, they really do not want him as Mayor, hence Bill supporting him.”

  2. Great article admin! Myself being a Pitbull owner/lover of the dogs, I find it deplorable what Vick has done to the dogs. He should not be allowed to star in the NFL or any place else. He is a sociopath…just like Dahmer. This will be an inspiration to all those future serial killer because he got away with it and was allowed to become an NFL star. It’s really disgusting.

I have two Pit Bulls and I love them, they a beautiful, fearless, loving, loyal dogs and should be held in the highest esteem. If you read up on them you will find out there was a dog named Sparky who is stuffed and is at the Smithsonian helped the soldier’s in WWI. People are just getting more violent by the day…disgusting!

  3. The Vick thing was extremely disturbing. Obama’s meddling in this is similar to what he did with the cop incident a while back. This guy may have book smarts, but very little common sense.

Amazing, Obama never picked up a history book in all the years at school. For a so-called American, his lack of knowledge of US history was what stuck me as very strange throughout his campaign.

I’m sure Obama could never name all the US presidents that preceded him to the Oval Office. Even if you spotted him 10 of them before hand. He would still fail.

No joke that a ‘man’ that abuses and kills animals is the first thing a profiler looks for when hunting serial killers. To put his man in the NFL gives him the outlet for his aggression…how nice of Barry to help him out! 😡

Great post Admin. We missed you.

And you have to know it was for money. The dogs were bet on by dogfight attendees. The loser dogs were the ones that were killed.

It would be impossible for me to ever be in Vick’s company or watch a football game he is part of because I am a dog lover as well.

I would even go so far to say, any Team that picks Vick up as a player, PETA and animal lovers will protest and picket the stadiums every game and hound him personally to the ends of the earth.

  8. Much depends on big media waking up. Will they? In a word—no. Why not? When the walls of their world are closing in? They will not because to do so would be to concede they were wrong, that they betrayed the standards of their profession and they misled the country. That is not something a guilty defendant pleads guilty to lightly. But absent a plea, the jury will convict them sooner or later.

I do not fix cars. If my car goes bad I go to a mechanics. Am I too good to fix cars? On the contrary I am too bad at it. Even at its best my mind does not work that way. So I do not embarrass myself that way. I do not mislead others into thinking I have some aptitude for fixing cars/ I do not hang out a shingle and call myself a car repairman. By the same token most of the people in big media are not journalists. Most of them are told you sit there, you ask this question and not that one, and if you submit we will give you a fine stall fed existence. The party line is we love Obama. Make it happen. Don’t let your conscience get in your way. Not if you want to last around here.

There are honest jounalists. By now we know who they are. We also know who the whores are and they control the game. The hard part if for people to discount what they say, just as a jury would disregard the testimony of a known liar. You can pretty much run down the rooster of the NYT, CNN, NBC, MSNBC and ABC and see the culture of corruption. I hope when honest people meet them for the first time and ask them what they do for a living they tell them they are a piano player in a whorehouse rather than admit who their employer is.

Obama: If that comment were viewed in isolation, one might dismiss it as simply a pan to a prominent athlete in a popular sport who had a run of bad luck (translation: he got caught torturing mans best friend). But if you examine the whole res gestae here the comment together with the Gates episode you allude to reads more like this: Me president. Hate mom. Love dad. Black good. White Bad. Le bon temps roule. Something like this always happens when he ventures off script. It is more clear now than it ever was. The Davis incident which is almost certainly tied to the White House is one more piece of circumstantial evidence all pointing to the same ineluctable conclusion.

    Bill Clinton was JFK.

Obama is Carter on domestic affairs, and LBJ on foreign policy.

Big media will not tell us that. We must examine the evidence and reach that conclusion on our own.

  10. First paragraph from Ulsterman:

“The latest rumors coming from inside The Beltway tell of top Obama administration adviser Valerie Jarrett, having successfully solidified her power within the Oval Office, giving indications President Obama will be spending even less time at the White House and more time in campaign mode in 2011.

It has been repeated often that Obama cares far less for the job of governing than he does campaigning to govern, and it now appears Jarrett is going to give him ample time to do just that-”

  11. Speaking truth to power is the first test of media legitimacy. Big media flunks the test. What follows is a wikipedia short on the Dreyfus Affair, where a newsman named Zola rose to the challenge. Big media in this country, with the exception of FOX except when a Republican is in office, could not measure up to this comparison. They revel in their stall fed existence when it comes to Obama. If they had their way they would coronate him to satisfy their delusions.
    ———————————-
The Dreyfus affair (French: l’affaire Dreyfus) was a political scandal that divided France in the 1890s and the early 1900s. It involved the conviction for treason in November 1894 of Captain Alfred Dreyfus, a young French artillery officer of Alsatian Jewish descent. Sentenced to life imprisonment for allegedly having communicated French military secrets to the German Embassy in Paris, Dreyfus was sent to the penal colony at Devil’s Island in French Guiana and placed in solitary confinement.

Two years later, in 1896, evidence came to light identifying a French Army major named Ferdinand Walsin Esterhazy as the real culprit. However, high-ranking military officials suppressed this new evidence and Esterhazy was unanimously acquitted after the second day of his trial in military court. Instead of being exonerated, Alfred Dreyfus was further accused by the Army on the basis of false documents fabricated by a French counter-intelligence officer, Hubert-Joseph Henry, seeking to re-confirm Dreyfus’s conviction. These fabrications were uncritically accepted by Henry’s superiors.[1]

Word of the military court’s framing of Alfred Dreyfus and of an attendant cover-up began to spread largely due to J’accuse, a vehement public open letter in a Paris newspaper by writer Émile Zola, in January 1898. The case had to be re-opened and Alfred Dreyfus was brought back from Guiana in 1899 to be tried again. The intense political and judicial scandal that ensued divided French society between those who supported Dreyfus (the Dreyfusards[2]), such as Anatole France, Henri Poincaré and Georges Clémenceau, and those who condemned him (the anti-Dreyfusards), such as Edouard Drumont (the director and publisher of the antisemitic newspaper La Libre Parole) and Hubert-Joseph Henry.

    President Announces Six Recess Appointments

President Obama “announced six recess appointments on Wednesday,” POLITICO reports.

In a statement, the White House said the positions “have been left vacant for an extended period of time.” The appointments are:

James M. Cole, Nominee for Deputy Attorney General, Department of Justice

Matthew J. Bryza, Nominee for Ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Department of State

Norman L. Eisen, Nominee for Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Department of State

Robert Stephen Ford, Nominee for Ambassador to the Syrian Arab Republic, Department of State

Francis J. Ricciardone, Jr., Nominee for Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, Department of State

William J. Boarman, Nominee for Public Printer of the United States

They do. Japan damned near rejected the Obama ambassador who as I recall had no experience with Japan but was an Obama contributor who decided that the word ambassador would look really good on his resume. As mentioned before I know of one such individual who was a (billionaire) venture capitalist one day, an Obama contributor the next, and sometime later ambassador to this small well known European country prominently featured in the mouse that roared. I would be slow to second guess Obama’s buddy Hugo. We should not criticize him simply because he does deals with Iran, hates the United States and runs a police state. As Barack would say we must be tolerant of other forms of government, and besides whatever terrible things he does he is not responsible because he means well. If Obama did not have Republicans breathing down his neck I am sure he would be his usual gracious I don’t give a shit unless it directly affects me. That is surely one of the great qualities we look for in a president.

just reading their resumes and not hearing what the other side has to say about them they do not seem to present any great problem. The only one I would object to is Norm Eisen who is the greatest self promoter on the list. I doubt he knows as much about Czechoslovakia as I do about repairing automobiles. But Prague is a beautiful city.

  18. In case you did not follow the links to the Ulsterman report, here is a fascinating bit of information and possible insight from the article:

Jarrett’s now open support for Obama’s absence from the White House would appear to substantiate the claims by certain DC Insiders that she is in fact, the real power within the administration. A related story tells of a meeting between Hillary Clinton and Jarrett earlier in the year in which Jarrett demanded to know of Clinton’s intentions in 2012. What Clinton specifically told Jarrett is not entirely known – but the relationship between the two powerful women has apparently become increasingly wary, with Jarrett constantly reminding President Obama the former First Lady cannot be trusted.

  19. I can imagine Hillary’s face when Jarret started questioning her about her plans for 2012- 😎
    ________________________________

It is said Jarrett has convinced the president that much of the difficulties that led to Obama’s falling approval numbers among Americans since being elected in 2008 was that the president was not visible enough. (Is that a joke or what?) Many even within the president’s own party likely feel such a claim is rather absurd given Obama’s seemingly unending television appearances and near non-stop campaigning throughout much of 2009 and 2010, as well as numerous (and costly) trips abroad for both himself and First Lady Michelle Obama, but it would appear Jarrett now wants even less of Obama around the White House in 2011.”
    _____________________________

So Jarrett has made herself the co-president in charge.

Obama might be going into rehab on the QT. In Ulsterman’s picture what I saw were the capped eyelids, even though the pic was out of focus, this is usually a sign of some type of sedating, calming medication having been taken. If the pic had been in focus, his pupils would have told the story true.

  20. I wonder how many good little progressives are now working overtime defending Obama’s adoration of Vick, and excusing what he did, after practically wanting to run Sarah Palin up a flagpole by her intestines for shooting a fucking moose and eating it.

Torture dogs to death? Drug and rape a 13 year old girl? Cheat your way to the White House?

    All forgiven — if you’re a man.

Mist up at a press conference? Shoot your own food? Wear shoes that someone somewhere doesn’t like? Have sex one time willingly?

    Obama’s 12 days of Christmas

HONOLULU, Hawaii (CNN) – President Obama is giving himself a little more time to recharge his batteries by extending his Hawaiian vacation another day, according to White House spokesperson Bill Burton. He will now return to Washington on Tuesday, January 4, giving him 12 full days on the island of Oahu.

His vacation was initially delayed several days on the front end because of the lame duck session of Congress. The first family arrived on Saturday, December 18, and the president joined them late Wednesday, December 22…

That is right bigcatlover. Others like rat boy Chuck Todd become political science majors and then drop out. Still others like the man who keeps spreading the rumor that he is Cronkite so he can humbly respond, yes I am great but not as great as Sir Walter–or not yet anyway, like ummmm Brian Williams who doubles for Dudley Doright RCMP flunk out and then do a little Hamlet routine ummm I have only one regret in life and that is not completing college and if I did not have to educate the country as anchorman of a major netework then I would be in night school honest injun and you can quote me on that if you must. Hey Brian, I mean Walter Jr. Shut the fuck up.

  24. Jarrett reminds me of that troll banker in Harry Potter — the first one movie, that troll that peers over the ledge at Harry.

Waffles praising that PO$ Vick is one of the most disgusting thing I have ever seen, I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if Waffles kicks Bo once in a while, I have never ever seen a picture of the two together. Bush for all his faults, loved Barney and Mrs. Beasley?, Bill loved this dog.
Lots of pictures of both men with their dogs playing together.

Waffles, he loves himself first and always. For any person to praise Vick is a big revealation into their dark heart. What Vick did to those innocent dogs, drowning puppies, putting the unsubmissive females on “rape stands”, what this digusting person did warranted at least 10 years in jail, and then Waffles praises this loser Vick?!?!

  25. 27. confloyd — I know what you mean, I have dogs, and they are family, when I read what Vick did to those innocent beings, like I said 10 years wouldn’t have been enough.

The Missing Link in the Evolution of Barack Obama
    (ht/)American Thinker

One of the problems with the idea of “American exceptionalism” is that it exacerbates a kind of complacency common to man. This is the phenomenon whereby people often view themselves as exceptions — saying, after some tragedy, for instance, something such as “I never thought it could happen to me.”

On a national level — and this especially plagues great nations — this manifests itself in the notion that “it” could never happen here. Oh, the “it” could be descent into tyranny, domination by a foreign power, or dissolution. Or maybe it…

    http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/12/29/a-bit-more-vacation-for-the-obamas/?partner=rss&emc=rss

President Obama apparently hasn’t had his fill of golfing, shave ice and swimming and snorkeling with his girls. He’s staying in Hawaii an extra day, the White House reports.

Mr. Obama and his family – Michelle Obama, the first lady, and daughters Malia and Sasha – who are vacationing in the quiet town of Kailua on the windward side of the island of Oahu, initially planned to return to Washington on New Year’s Day. Then, when Mr. Obama arrived, the White House announced he would leave Jan. 2. Now their departure has been pushed back yet again, to Jan. 3, which means the Obama girls may miss the first day or two back at school after their holiday break.

“After the extended lame duck and five-day delay of his trip here, he’s just trying to squeeze in more time with his family before returning to Washington,’’ the White House deputy press secretary, Bill Burton, told reporters here. The Obamas now plan to leave late in the evening on Jan. 3, arriving in Washington on January 4.

he can spend just as much time with them in DC, they do live in the same house, and second point, if he wants to spend all this time with Meeee-chelle, why the hell is he on the golf course all the time?!?

  35. Barry needs to STAY in Hawaii with his shave ice and just let his buddy Jarrett run the WhiteHouse…that would suit both of them just fine.

Who needs a President when we have some slacker like BarryBoy?

Jarrett reminds me of that troll banker in Harry Potter — the first one movie, that troll that peers over the ledge at Harry.

VJ is a very strange looking person. I can’t quite put my finger on it but she gives me the creeps…

  37. anyone catch Fox’s piece on Axel-hole and his daughter, who suffers from severe epilisy, now getting better.

I remember Hillary helped bring attention to this, put this into a speech at the last minute so that that spotlight would then hopefully help others who were suffering from this.

And the thanks Hillary gets? Well…. we all know the thanks Hillary got. This is the type of scumbags that are now in the undemocratic party.

  38. “VJ is a very strange looking person. I can’t quite put my finger on it but she gives me the creeps…”

I never thought much of it, but my wife was watching the first Harry Potter movie with some young relatives of ours, and when she saw that goblin-banker, she asked me if that reminded me of Jarrett, yep it did. I don’t trust this goblin-advisor one bit, not one.

check out the youtube scene with the goblin-banker, I can kinda see the similarity with Jarrett,

  39. I should add, my wife had just watched MTP with Jarrett on that show and then was watching the Harry Potter movie. So, my guess she saw some resemblence between the 2 items.

Yes, I watched about 10min of the Jarrett interview too, thinking to myself everything Jarrett was saying was nothing more than utter hubris. The empty words promoting delusions of grandeur. I didn’t make the connection to the HP banker but I’m glad your wife did Tim.

In the words of Bill Clinton, “a fairy tale” by Valerie Jarrett, woven out of whole cloth by of a president that doesn’t exist.

At the time of the interview, I wondered how many people are actually buying her BS.

  41. This racist behavior by Davis and Braun is typical of what Obama did to Hillary and Bill. I feel so badly for saying this but how in world could Hillary or Bill ever trust the black community again after the 2008 primary, ever. Capehart implying that blacks would continue to support the Clintons so long as they remained on friendly terms with Obama. What kind of friend is that? I wouldn’t want friends like that! Now, I’m not talking about good people like Stephanie Tubbs Jones who was loyal to her death. I wonder had she lived, would blacks have destroyed her as well? The worst part was that the majority of blacks knew that the Clintons were not racist but they wanted an excuse to vote for Obama, to have a black President. So I say just ignore them. They threw you both under the boss once and they’ll do it again if it suits them. The next time a black civil rights issue emerges and they need the clout of Clinton to garner support from the general public, I mean anyone who isn’t black, just tell them that Obama is President, its his job! Let him carry their banner! After all, they chose him because they believe he was the most qualified, right!

  42. Mrs. Smith,
VJ is a very strange looking person. I can’t quite put my finger on it but she gives me the creeps.
    —————————————

I have researched her family. VJ is weird and so is her background…Obama calls her so close to him that he feels like she’s a sibling…my guess she probably is! VJ.’s mom is a teacher and looks amazingly light just like her daughter, but her father is very dark. It’s weird! I was talking about this not too long ago, but couldn’t get anyone interested on the research. Look up VJ’s mom and dad…see if you see the resemblance to the dad to Obama?

  43. Can’t get it out of my mind suspecting Obama is in Hawaii re birth certificate problems. Haven’t seen such conjecture anywhere, but I feel compelled to mention it. I could blather on, but that’s all it would be, so I’ll stop. I’m wishing for better insight or facts than I have. Also wishing he could be forced out of office ASAP.

  44. Just discovered I can go online through Wii and read the news and His44 on the big tv screen. I’m not very tech savvy but it beats my tiny netbook for when I don’t feel like sitting at a desk.

  45. THE BIG LIE:

“The essential English leadership secret does not depend on particular intelligence. Rather, it depends on a remarkably stupid thick-headedness. The English follow the principle that when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it. They keep up their lies, even at the risk of looking ridiculous.” Die Zeit ohne Beispiel –Joseph Goebbels (1942)
    ———————————————————-
Question: big media has used most of the propaganda techniques of the master in order to nominate, elect and ultimately beatify Messiah Obama. The question is which lie in their parcel of lies should be deemed THE BIG LIE when it comes to him:

    1. Obama is an American citizen?

    2. Obama will is a bi partisan political figure?

3 Obama will chase the money changers i.e. lobbyists from the table?

    4. Obama will charm the worlds dictators?

    5. Obama gives a rats ass for the American People?

    6. Obama will save the middle class?

    7. Obama will fight against the predatory actions of multinational companies?

    8. Obama is not in bed with big media?

    9. Obama is a post racial president who will bring harmony to our nation?

    10. Obama saved the country from a depression?

    11. Obama will inspire the nation just as he did in 2012 and will win a landslide victory in 2012?

    12. Obama is competent?

Answer: since all of the above is not an option, I think the biggest lie of all which big media has been perpetrating is 12. that Obama is in any way shape or form competent to be president. That is the big lie, and big media promotes it 24-7. They do just as their master Goebbels would do in a similar situation. They are not worth listening to.

  46. I think it is high time for Jarrett to be on the receiving end of subpoenas. If not she will bury the country. I also think she should be targeted for defeat if she ever ever ever decides to seek public office. We know she is dirty because they tried to slip her in Obama’s seat, but when she came under scrutiny they ushered her off to the White House. Hell we know about the Grove Park deal and some of her real estate schemes and other dirty tricks. She is like tuberculosis. It must be walled up to protect the body politic. Her kind of corruption must be confined to the most corrupt city in the western hemisphere Chicago.

  47. So the latest word is what? Obama spending too much time in Washington. Needs to get outside the beltway and press the flesh. Fuck the country he has got to get ready for 2012. I am indifferent. When he is in Washington he hardly ever works–he gladhandles and speechifies, but he does not work. And big media is nothing but a herd of GELDINGS (castrated male horses which are tamed) he does not need to do press conferences. Nothing new could be learned. Actually I think the best thing to do is send him on a slow boat to China.

  48. This is an in depth analysis on Jarrett which appeared on Frontline which is David Horowitz organization. I brought David into a Republican event in Sun Valley more than ten years ago, and spent a day with him personally, which was more than enough to know he is a serious scholar and a former leader of the radical left. In fact he wrote about this his autobiography Radical Son. He knows more about Obama than anyone. I do not know Johnson but his research of Jarrett looks very solid. Lincoln said if you want to test a person give them power. They gave that power to Jarrett and she abused it. If she is going to be running the country for the next two years people need to know alot more about her. To me she embodies the corruption elitism anti Americanism and incompetence which is endemic in this Administration.

Valerie Jarrett: The Next Van Jones
    By: Ben Johnson
    FrontPageMagazine.com | Monday, September 14, 2009

MANY HAVE WONDERED HOW ANYONE AS EXTREME AS OBAMA’S “GREEN JOBS CZAR” Van Jones – a self-described “Communist” obsessed with racial conspiracy theories – could have been named to head a federal agency. David Horowitz described the radicalization of the Democratic Party as the appointment’s subtext. Closer to the fore, Jones owed his elevation to another new factor: the unparalleled influence of Valerie Jarrett. To call Jarrett a presidential adviser, even a close adviser, is misleading. She is an alter ego, an inner conscience, a touchstone of clarity for both President Obama and first lady Michelle. In the frenzy of the presidency, she reminds both Obamas of their identity and deepest-held beliefs. In exchange, the president makes no decision without her and has said she can “speak for me.” Unfortunately, she is also a racially polarizing elitist. She obtained her first foothold in Chicago politics through the patronage of a former SDS radical who regrets “nothing” about her role in the Days of Rage and ventured in 2003 that she “would probably reject violence as a useful form of revolution.” The same radical tried to persuade Rod Blagojevich to name Jarrett to Obama’s empty senate seat. Instead, Jarrett has served as a conduit of far-leftists into the administration.

“We Have Kind of a Mind Meld”

One thing is beyond question: Jarrett’s unprecedented sway over the president. An Obama 2008 campaign official told the New York Times, “If you want him to do something, there are two people he’s not going to say no to: Valerie Jarrett and Michelle Obama.” Susan Sher, who helped Jarrett recruit Michelle Obama to the Chicago mayor’s office before Michelle married the president, said, “I don’t think either of them [the Obamas] made major decisions without talking to her,” adding that Jarrett failed to appreciate “how incredibly instrumental she’ll be in virtually everything” in the White House.

The president confirms Jarrett’s tremendous cache with him, personally and politically. In July, Obama told New York Times reporter Robert Draper, “I trust her completely…She is family.” Obama trusts Jarrett “to speak for me, particularly when we’re dealing with delicate issues.” When asked, he admitted he runs every decision by her.

If Jarrett failed to anticipate her power, she acknowledges her closeness to the leader of the free world. “We have kind of a mind meld,” Jarrett said about Obama. “And chances are, what he wants to do is what I’d want to do.” Chicago tycoon Martin Nesbitt identified the source of Jarrett’s power in the fact that she establishes both Michelle and Barack’s “whole notion of authenticity.” Nesbitt relates she channels the Obamas’ inner voice, telling them: “That’s not you. You wouldn’t say that. Somebody else is saying that. Barack Obama wouldn’t say that.” Jarrett admitted to Vogue, “I kind of know what makes them who they are.”

Part of who Jarrett is can be seen in her obsession with racial issues. After the Jeremiah Wright tapes threatened to sink his campaign, it was Jarrett who encouraged Barack to give his “race speech” at Constitution Hall (the speech that sent the infamous thrill up Chris Matthews’ leg). African-American administration staffers have said without her patronage “their opinions and the often-legitimate concerns voiced by black leaders like [Al] Sharpton would have been thoroughly disregarded by the white-dominated senior staff.” (Emphasis added.) A black staffer claimed “there’s a cultural nuance” white Obama officials “just didn’t get.” If so, it’s not for Jarrett’s lack of hectoring. When Robert Gibbs tried to downplay Obama’s statement that Republicans were emphasizing that Obama “doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills,” Jarrett instructed white staffers, “You guys, you’re not getting this issue right.” After Jarrett’s intervention, the allegedly post-racial candidate Obama brought the white staff into line, telling them they were too “gun-shy on race issues.” A campaign source revealed, “moving forward, the candidate made it very clear to us that we were just a bunch of white people who didn’t get it – which, by the way, was true.”

After the inauguration, Jarrett successfully pushed to loosen restrictions barring officials from meeting with lobbyists, a rule enshrined in Obama’s executive memo on the Recovery Act, for fear other “legitimate” concerns – raised by “civil rights organizations whose directors happen to be registered lobbyists – will not be heard.”

Without her patronage, it seems Van Jones would not be heard. A White House official told Politico Jones “did not go through the traditional vetting process”; instead, Jarrett interviewed Jones, a signal she bucked for his appointment. Jarrett gushed to the Netroots Nation conference: “We were so delighted to be able to recruit him into the White House. We were watching him…for as long as he’s been active out in Oakland. And all the creative ideas he has. And so now, we have captured that, and we have all that energy in the White House.”

Jarrett lobbied Obama to create the office of Chief Diversity Officer within the FCC, a position filled by Mark Lloyd, an Alinskyite and former senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, who appears fixated on silencing conservative talk radio. Her intent, according to some, was to change policy by altering the structure of the FCC. Jarrett also helped recruit Cass Sunstein, who believes in the Fairness Doctrine, has argued we should “celebrate tax day,” and believes animals should have legal standing to sue humans. (This is a growing movement on the Green Left. As I note in chapter seven of my book Teresa Heinz Kerry’s Radical Gifts, the Heinz Endowments gave $25,000 to the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund, which complains that “trees and forests and streams and cougars and bears – they have no rights under our structure of governance.”) As David Horowitz has noted, Saul Alinsky wrote, “From the moment an organizer enters a community, he lives, dreams, eats, breathes, sleeps only one thing, and that is to build the mass power base of what he calls the army.” Part of that motion involves burrowing into existing structures and changing them from the inside out – as has been done in academia, the major tax-exempt foundations, the Democratic Party, and now the U.S. government.

    Who is Valerie Jarrett?

Part of Jarrett’s identification with the president is her international childhood and experience as an African-American growing up abroad. She was born in Shriaz, Iran, to a renowned physician father and spent the first five years of her life in Iran. There, she said, she was treated as an American, not an African-American. Her family lived in London for one year before settling in Chicago’s elite neighborhood, Hyde Park, where she was teased for both her race and British accent. Chicago-based journalist Lynn Sweet reports, “In the manner of privileged Hyde Park-Kenwood children from smart families, Jarrett went to the exclusive University of Chicago Lab School before transferring to her mother’s alma mater, Northfield Mt. Hermon, in western Massachusetts for the last two years of high school.” After graduating from the University of Michigan Law School, she went to work for Chicago’s first African-American mayor, Harold Washington, whose election many Sixties radicals attributed to themselves. After Washington’s death in 1987, she stayed on under his successor, Richard Daley. In City Hall, she and her colleague Susan Sher recruited Michelle Robinson, then engaged to Barack Obama, and Jarrett quickly melded her way into their lives.

After Daley administration in-fighting, Jarrett continued to serve Daley in a different capacity and found a job at Habitat, a real estate firm headed by Daniel Levin. (Daniel is the cousin of Sen. Carl Levin and Rep. Sander Levin of Michigan.) Michelle Malkin has noted the tracts of public housing – including that bearing the name of her grandfather – have deteriorated after being run by Habitat. Although the New York Times lists the stint as “baggage,” it proved profitable, and she has gone on to sit on numerous corporate, civic, and academic boards.

Sweet noted to whom Jarrett owed much of her success: “Activist public affairs consultant with close ties to City Hall Marilyn Katz introduced Jarrett to Levin.”

With a Little Help from my (Radical) Friends

Who is this person to whom Jarrett is so indebted – and who, we shall see, she calls a personal friend? Marilyn Katz provided “security” for Students for a Democratic Society at the 1968 Democratic Convention. Undercover Chicago policeman William Frapolly told prosecutors that during the Days of Rage, Katz showed protesters a new weapon to use against the police: “a cluster of nails that were sharpened at both ends, and they were fastened in the center.” Police later reported being hit by golf balls with nails through them, as well as excrement. Years later, Katz would insist her “guerrilla nails” were merely “a defensive weapon” to prevent “possible bad behavior by the police.”

The SDS soon imploded. Bill Ayers – whom Katz has known since he was 17 – helped create the terrorist Weather Underground from its ranks. In 1971-2, Katz would lead another remnant to form the New American Movement (NAM), a combined Old Left-New Left organization that included Communist Party USA members from the 1930s. Rabbi Michael Lerner was among its early founders, though he left to start his own organization. (His reaction when David Horowitz rebuffed his recruitment efforts is described in Radical Son, p. 274.) NAM’s primary political text, entitled Basic Marxism: What It Is & How to Use It, revealed the group’s devotion to Gramsci. For most of the Seventies, the organization’s local chapters ran socialist “schools” open to the public with little national structure. The L.A. school listed as the first point in NAM’s “basic perspective”: its belief “that a socialist revolution will be necessary to solve the problems of the U.S.” NAM declared its “solidarity with the Third World grew out of a correct reaction to United States chauvinism.” A 1973 NAM manifesto declared: “We admire, and draw inspiration from, many accomplishments from the Russian, Chinese, Cuban and Vietnamese revolutions…as representing, on balance, very positive steps forward in human history…we deeply value Lenin’s contributions to revolutionary theory and practice…We identify with Lenin’s revolutionary spirit and determination; we agree with his critique of mechanistic determinism and economism, his writings on the nature of the state, his approach to creating a ‘revolutionary alliance of the oppressed,’ and his treatment of nationalism and imperialism.” Katz, through NAM, founded the Reproductive Rights National Network in 1977-8. A sympathetic author summed up R2N2’s motivation: “The long-term goal was to develop an ‘offensive movement’ [against the pro-life movement] that could fight for a more comprehensive set of demands as the conditions for ‘free choice,’ including child care, national health-care, high-quality education, and guaranteed income.” Sound familiar?

NAM’s local chapters merged with Michael Harrington’s Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee (DSOC) in 1983 to form the Democratic Socialists of America.

That year, Katz became an organizational entrepreneur herself, founding MK Communications, Inc., a public relations firm. Its clients include the ACLU, Amnesty International, Chicagoans Against War & Injustice, Harold Washington 1983-1987 Mayoral Campaign, Lloyd Doggett’s senate campaign, Human Rights Watch, Illinois Campaign for Choice, Illinois Coalition Against the Death Penalty, the socialist publication In These Times, the MacArthur Foundation, Mother Jones, National Community Development Initiative (for the Rockefeller Foundation), UAW Local 719, and numerous City of Chicago accounts. Katz did spin for the developers of the “Presidential Towers,” a HUD-financed yuppie-heaven which moved homeless out of Skid Row in hopes of moving the upper middle class into their place. The new Mayor Daley’s rapprochement with SDS nail-throwers became most conspicuous in 1996, when he, Katz, and the Chicago Seven did PR for the 1996 Democratic National Convention, which returned to Chicago. The Chicago Tribune’s John Kass reported, even as he laid off 1,000 city workers, he gave “Katz and other public relations firms five-year contracts that could pay them as much as $5 million each.” As part of Katz’s work for the city, she wrote press releases for the Chicago Transit Authority, then headed by Jarrett.

Katz had a few other noteworthy clients: Project Vote, the ACORN-affiliated voter registry that first brought Barack Obama to Chicago as a “communist organizer”; the Habitat Company; The Joyce Foundation, on whose board Obama sat; and History Makers, which interviewed Valerie Jarrett, her mother, and her father-in-law.

Katz called on her radical rolodex in 2002, when she and former national secretary Carl Davidson started Chicagoans Against the War in Iraq. (He and and Tom Hayden founded the Venceremos Brigades, a joint triumph of Cuban intelligence and the KGB. In 1992, he joined the Committees of Correspondence, now known as Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism. He has also been active nationally with United for Peace and Justice. In December 2008, Katz was also elected to UFPJ’s national steering committee.) Katz and Bettylu Saltzman organized the 2002 antiwar demonstration where the little-known state senator Obama gave his famous speech opposing the Iraq war, calling it a “stupid” war, and a conspiracy by Karl Rove to “distract” from the (by then recovering) economy. This speech made Obama the choice of his party’s left-wing in 2008.

Katz knew of Obama politically and through Valerie Jarrett. Davidson, too, knew of Obama, writing on the Marxism Mailing List he had “known Obama from the time he came to the New Party to get our endorsement for his first race ever. I’ve been in his home, and as an IL legislator, he’s helped or community technology movement a number of times.” He later assessed an Obama economic speech, finding, “I probably couldn’t written a better one myself.” Together, he and Katz wrote the book Stopping War, Seeking Justice: Essays in a Time of Empire.

Now a longtime beneficiary of Democratic spoils, Katz put her new organization to work for the party. CAWI – which lists “allies” like MoveOn.org, Code Pink, International ANSWER, Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, and the World Can’t Wait – trained 200 people to register voters in 2003. Katz and Davidson wrote an article, “From Protest to Politics,” urging radicals to support Democrat John Kerry. Four years later, in a blog entry adorned with a picture of Barack Obama, Davidson urged readers of the CAWI homepage to “[b]reak decisively with the ultraleft mindset, in order to deepen and broaden left-progressive unity.” Davidson later attempted to defend Obama, writing:

Obama is a decent liberal out of the Alinksky [sic.] tradition of community organizers. Everyone knows there’s nothing Marxist about Alinsky. I’m simply an acquaintance of Obama, meeting him three times for a few minutes over 15 years…Harold Washington’s movement, for instance, was launched by Black nationalists and independent Black Democrats, hardly “connected” to the socialist left. Obama really does have mentors, but certainly not me…It’s two very tough, accomplished, influential and smart Black liberal women, Valerie Jarrett and Susan Rice.

If Katz’s tactics have changed, her underlying ideology has not. In the article, Katz and Davidson agreed: “it is true that the next president of the U.S. will represent one or another imperialist grouping…We should do this without illusions. The day after Bush’s defeat, the U.S. will still be an imperialist power.” (Emphasis added.)

Last August, Katz and her old SDS comrade Don Rose (who mentored David Axelrod, another friend of Katz) met with In These Times to discuss the 40th anniversary of the Days of Rage. When asked if they learned anything from the violence, she first charged the FBI with having 28 Black Panthers “assassinated,” calling the mythical murders “a wakeup call where we saw the underbelly of our own country.” She then offered her takeaway from 40 years’ reflection on the rebellion she led: “I would have to say for me permanently, I would probably reject violence as a useful form of revolution.”

    Probably.

Asked whether she regretted her actions “in this age of terrorism,” she replied, “I regret nothing.”

    Katz: Obamas’ Friend, Blagojevich’s Suppliant

Katz is not merely a friend of Jarrett’s but also both Obamas. The president met Katz through his first job at a law firm run by Judd Miner. The New York Times reports Katz “gave him entry into another activist network: the foot soldiers of the white student and black power movements that helped define Chicago in the 1960s.” Michelle Obama has close social ties with her, as well. Biographer Liza Mundy quotes Katz as saying the moment Jarrett introduced Michelle Obama to her friends, Michelle “was recognized as brilliant and beautiful, and immediately accepted into a very sophisticated social circle.” Mundy writes Michelle “and Barack…enjoyed a range of relations with people who shared their lifestyle, as well as their progressive views and political involvement. ‘These are folks,’ says Marilyn Katz, a member of their social circle, ‘who talk to their friends a number of times a day.” Mundy describes a May 2008 fundraiser for DSA member Rep. Jan Schakowsky, which Katz attended and Michelle Obama addressed.

From their common social circle, Katz was welcomed into the Obama campaign. Like Code Pink radical Jodie Evans, Marilyn Katz became a bundler for Obama, as well as a member of his national finance committee. According to Public Citizen, Katz raised at least $50,000 for Obama ‘08.

After seeing one friend elevated to power, the graying radical tried to convince disgraced Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich to appoint Valerie Jarrett to Obama’s open U.S. Senate seat. The Times describes Katz as “a friend” of Jarrett’s who encouraged Jarrett to step out of Obama’s shadow and “be the sun.” Katz tried to schedule lunch with the governor’s wife, Patti, to advocate for her friend’s appointment. When that failed to materialize, Rod Blagojevich writes in his new book, Katz contacted the governor and “indicated that if I appointed Valerie Jarrett to the U.S. Senate, the Obama people would help me raise money from their network of contributors across the country.” Federal investigators allege an unnamed individual suggested a three-way deal for Blagojevich to appoint Jarrett to the seat, take a position with the SEIU-affiliated “Change to Win” labor coalition, and then have President Obama bolster the organization.

Ultimately, nothing came of Katz’s overture. Jarrett opted to stay in the White House. (Why would she want a demotion?) In late July, Katz joined Jarrett and Sher in Washington at the Obama administration’s celebration of the 37th anniversary of Title IX. Katz, the unrepentant ‘60s nail-tosser, now has a well-placed patron and a history as part of the first family’s inner circle. All three are indebted to her, literally or figuratively, and she enjoys their affections. Though she is the most disturbing to come to light, she is hardly Jarrett’s only extremist influence.

    It Runs in the Family

Her late father-in-law, Vernon Jarrett, was a pioneering black journalist in “negro” newspapers, After graduating from Knoxville College, Vernon Jarrett started at The Chicago Defender in 1946, where he wrote columns extolling Communist poet Langston Hughes and lifelong Stalinists W.E.B. DuBois and Paul Robeson. (Obama would write in Dreams of My Father that “I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm [X], DuBois and Mandela.”) A contemporary writer at Kansas City Star asserts by 1948 Jarrett “had been forced out [of journalism] by the Cold War, the Red scare and racism.” He freelanced at Kansas City’s The Call from 1954-58, then returned to Chicago to become the first nationally syndicated black columnist for the Chicago Tribune, and still later wrote for the Chicago Sun-Times. Valerie married his son, William Robert Jarrett, who preceded his father in death. Together, they had a daughter, who now attends Harvard. The elder Jarrett may have been part of his daughter-in-law’s rise through Chicago’s political ranks. The Washington Post called Jarrett “a key influence in [Harold] Washington’s decision to run for the Chicago mayoralty.”

Vernon Jarrett later wrote of another up-and-coming political figure in the Chicago Sun-Times:

Good news! Good news! Project Vote, a collectivity of 10 church-based community organizations dedicated to black voter registration, is off and running. Project Vote is increasing its rolls at a 7,000-per-week clip. Just last Saturday it registered 2,000 during the Chicago Defender’s annual Bud Billiken Parade. But now, the not-so-good news: If Project Vote is to reach its goal of registering 150,000 out of an estimated 400,000 unregistered blacks statewide, “it must average 10,000 rather than 7,000 every week,” says Barack Obama, the program’s executive director…”There’s a lot of talk about `black power’ among the young but so little action.”

When Vernon died in 2004, he was saluted in the pages of People’s Weekly Worker, the house organ of the Communist Party USA. A final point of confluence, perhaps more fortuitous than anything: Vernon Jarrett once sat on a union publicity committee with Frank Marshall Davis, the Communist poet who occasionally counseled…the young Barack Obama.

Valerie Jarrett had more immediate radical ties. Her mother, Barbara Taylor Bowman, co-founded Her mother, Barbara Taylor Bowman, co-founded the Erickson Institute in Chicago and still serves on its Board of Trustees. Tom Ayers, the father of Bill Ayers, was a one-time fellow trustee. According to WorldNet Daily’s Brad O’Leary, the Erickson board also included Bill Ayers’ wife, Bernadine Dohrn. For his part, Bill Ayers called Bowman “a neighbor and friend” in his book A Kind and Just Parent, noting his neighbors include Louis Farrakhan (whose guard, The Fruit of Islam, patrols the neighborhood and “has an eye on things twenty-four hours a day”), and “writer Barack Obama.”

    Mr. Obama’s Neighborhood

Perhaps this last reference is the key to understanding Jarrett and the Obamas: their common formation by Chicago’s elite Hyde Park neighborhood. The University of Chicago essentially created the neighborhood from scratch, driving out its poor (and middle class) residents, of all races, and creating a chic atmosphere of cultural elitism. This bubble reflected the far-Left bubble of modern academia – though it would not hurt Obama’s political fortunes. Katz would tell In These Times, “I believe that Barack Obama could only have emerged in Chicago,” because of its longtime confluence of radical organizations, culminating in Washington’s mayoralty.

One of Obama’s neighbors, the late, left-wing Rabbi Arnold Wolf – a Democratic Socialist who once invited the Chicago 7 to address his synagogue – described the Hyde Park environment and Obama’s place in it to The Weekly Standard. “We had a party for him at our house when he was just starting, back in the Nineties. I said right away: ‘Here’s a guy who could sell our product, and sell it with splendor!’” And what is the Hyde Park “product,” the reporter asked? “It’s a rational, progressive philosophy based on experience. You see it here. This neighborhood is genuinely integrated. We did it here, we really did it! Not just talk about it. Look around. And Barack and his family fit right in. This is their neighborhood.” He then referred to Bill Ayers as “an aging, toothless radical, a pussycat,” and Dohrn as “thoroughly conventional, just very nice.”

That’s Jarrett’s product, and Obama’s. An international, rootless wanderer abandoned by his father, and occasionally his mother, in search of authenticity, he never felt at home until he found his roots, and himself, in the milieu of Hyde Park – a neighborhood big enough to encompass everyone from Marilyn Katz to Bill Ayers, from Tony Rezko’s vacant adjoining property to Louis Farrakhan’s wandering “security” force.

    And Valerie Jarrett.

Is this what Jarrett reminds the Obamas of: the neighborhood that has been the president’s only true home and shaped or reinforced their values and identity? An elitist sanctuary of pampered radicals, racists, and terrorists, liberated of working class stiffs who bitterly cling to their guns and religion?

Increasingly, it seems as though this is what “makes them who they are,” and is becoming the atmosphere Obama, with Jarrett’s help, is recreating in his administration.

  49. Christine O’Donnell sets the record straight (email)

    December 29, 2010. Wilmington, DE: Christine O’Donnell’s campaign released the following statement in response to investigation rumors and states that Democrat insiders warned her that the “Establishment” would use phony investigations to end her political career;

Campaign Manager Matt Moran responded to the rumor of a criminal investigation, “We have heard absolutely nothing other than the same unsubstantiated allegations and rumors that have been circulating in the press for months. “If anything does materialize from this rumor, we will continue to fully cooperate as we have made every attempt to ensure we are in compliance with all rules and regulations. The politically motivated charge was all started by false accusations by Christine’s political opponents, and ratcheted up by former Biden staffer Melanie Sloan and CREW with their false claims. Let us be clear: there was no impermissible use of campaign funds. Period. This is just an ongoing effort by the George Soros-funded CREW and other liberal groups and individuals to intimidate and threaten Christine, even after the election.”

Christine O’Donnell continued, “Since anonymous sources are being taken seriously, please allow me to share some tips I’ve received and keep the tipsters’ identities anonymous. We’ve been warned by multiple high-ranking Democrat insiders that the Delaware Democrat and Republican political establishment is jointly planning to pull out all the stops to ensure I would never again upset the apple cart. Specifically they told me the plan was to crush me with investigations, lawsuits and false accusations so that my political reputation would become so toxic no one would ever get behind me. I was warned by numerous sources that the DE political establishment is going to use every resource available to them. So given that the King of the Delaware Political Establishment just so happens to be the Vice President of the most liberal Presidential administration in U.S. history, it is no surprise that misuse and abuse of the FBI would not be off the table. And further connecting the dots, do you think it is just a coincidence that Melanie Sloan was a senior Biden staffer just before she joined CREW and filed her complaint against me?!

“I have faith that our supporters and the general public will see right through these thug tactics. This is simply an Establishment trick to stop the anti-establishment Tea Party movement in its tracks. Heck, the Presidency is at stake in 2012.”

  50. Ulsterman: “America has a president already campaigning for a second term in a job he increasingly appears not to want.”

This is indeed true, strange, and unique in our or any other history. It makes (a little bit of) sense if what Ulsterman says about Jarrett is true, ie that she has taken charge and thinks the president should be doing what she thinks he does best: campaigning, basking in the crowds’ adulation.

Ulsterman also claims that Jarrett has demanded to know what HRC’s intentions are for 2012, and is now very distrustful of HRC. If that encounter was true, it was kind of stupid on Jarrett’s part: HRC is not going to confide in anyone other than Bill about her future plans, and she may not have any “plans” per se. Bill is running around opening up options for her; but options are not plans, and Jarrett cannot very well call in Bill Clinton and demand what HE is “planning”.

If this meeting did take place, I can easily imagine that Jarrett would be even more mistrustful afterward. Everybody routinely ignores Hillary’s repeated denials of future presidential “plans” and just keeps on asking her again and again, hoping to be the first to find the chink in the armor, hoping to be the first to ask the question in just the right way so that a slightly off-center answer could be interpreted as wavering on Hillary’s part, or underlying scheming.

And nobody believes that, after coming so close to the presidency in 2008, after living so close to it now, after saying “I kind of like being a president” at a UN meeting she presided, that she’s really planning to retire in Jan 2013 to go back to advocacy, maybe working at CGI, writing a book or teaching. WE won’t let her do it.

  51. turndownø:

Concerning global warming and the streak of snow we’ve been having, I got this answer from my son in Japan:

“Hm, actually the temperature gap that France is experiencing right now
between summer and winter kinda adds up to the idea of global
warming… Thing is that global warming, if it’s real, is going to
fuck up some ocean streams for good (Gulf stream etc), but those are
vital to keep moderate oceanic climates such as the one we had in
France until now. Temperature gaps are characteristic of continental
climates such as Russia’s, and may be a consequence of that.

The only problem with global warming is that we have no evidence of it
happening. But I think it is realistic, if you use some math.”

    *******

I’ve never preached my view of global warming to my son, but he’s actually come to the same view as me: “…if it’s real…”, “…no evidence of it happening.”

Then, if you accept that it’s real, there are the further points of:

    – what the consequences of it are or will be;

    – whether or not it’s anthropogenic, and thus

    – if we humans can thus do anything about it.

On this last point, though, I repeat that the environment-friendly, thrifty solutions that have been put forward not only make good environmental sense but good economic and business sense too. That’s the Clintons’ line of argument, and they’ve persuaded much of the world beyond the water’s edge to follow it with no need for Crap ‘n’ Trade.

  52. Mrs. Smith: I’m still listening to Webster Tarpley’s discussion of “Pearl Harbor revisited” on his website.

In the QA after the fully document thesis, which is that Churchill plotted to (i) goad the US into the war and (ii) use the Japanese to reduce US naval power, he gets into his own views of the history since FDR saying, among other things that what we need now (2007) is a massive return to the New Deal.

We know that Tarpley severely criticizes ø but also the Recovery Act, which was an abomination of the New Deal. This nails down my assertion that Tarpley is a socialist. Go listen to his “speeches” and courses and read his books… he’s really sharp.

  53. I am asking this question simply for my own information because you have had years of contact with high profile Repubs. I’m hoping you can give me your insight into their thoughts and how far they would go in preventing Hillary from the presidency. IOW, were they aware of how dangerous an Obama presidency could be if he were elected?
    _______________________

The Jarrett article is a stunning revelation of the force and anti-Americanism behind Obama. My first thought while reading the detailed in-depth article was have the Republicans made a horrible mistake allowing Obama a free pass where their due diligence of vetting any and all machinations behind Obama was left seriously lacking.

Was this just and oversight on their part or were the likes of Rove and the Neocons so blinded by their dislike of Hillary that they would risk all deliberately to thwart another Clinton presidency?

Tarpley is NOT a socialist. Obama- YES-

Tarpley is a brilliant guy. In fact he has a call in radio show every Sunday evening at 8pm. You need the call in code to listen to his show and are able to interact with him Q&A live on his show.

Of all the candidates running during the election, I had the pleasure of informing him of Hillary’s policies and attributes and corrected his misconceptions of where she would be taking the country if she were elected. It was a simple enough
task pointing to the leadership we experienced during Bill’s presidency and above all the peace and prosperity. The end all was he did support Hillary and he voted for her during the Primary.

He has an uncanny ability for recall of historical times dates and places and an indepth book on Obama written well before the election entitled Barack H. Obama: the Unauthorized Biography.

When I had the greatest contact with Tarpley was when Berg was attempting to validate Obama’s place of birth. Tarpley was all in for it and went personally with Berg to the courthouse in Philadelphia to file the paperwork for the lawsuit.

We all worked in tandem trying to get the DNC and Obama served in Denver and get a TRO stopping the dems nomination process. The failure was due to the security walling off anyone who was not part of the conspiracy.

No, Tarpley is no Socialist. The proof you need is in who he supported in the primary- If he were a socialist he would have supported “O” instead of Hillary.

  56. Mrs. Smith: “Tarpley is NOT a socialist… ”

Well, it’s no longer an opinion of mine. Listen to that course he gives and, if you know what ‘socialist’ means, you know he’s one: FDR is his hero, among other things.

    “…Obama- YES-”

On the other hand, I guess you don’t know what ‘socialist’ means.

  58. “The proof you need is in who he supported in the primary- If he were a socialist he would have supported “O” instead of Hillary.”

That’s ridiculous. I qualify as a socialist, supported Hillary too and would never have supported ø under any circumstances. And ø’s actions, or inactions if you will, in the White House are in no way indicative of a socialist but of someone sold out to the special interests.

‘Socialist’ has a bad ring to it in the US nowadays. Tarpley doesn’t describe himself as a socialist because people would stop listening. But he is very supportive of FDR who, in Tarpley’s opinion, was the only president since 1895 to stand off from the ‘invisible government’. And FDR was advised by socialists, and followed their advice.

I listen to Tarpley’s podcasts on his website. They come out about Monday-Tuesday of each week. I thought his program was on Saturday, you say it’s Sunday? No matter. The website has podcasts, transcripts of speeches and videos of his courses.

I want to get a copy of his book about 9/11, because he’s a truther like me and his book projects and has developed a theory of who actually did it. All I currently know about 9/11 is that the official version is bullshit – ie, the WTC collapsed by controlled demolition (but who set the charges?), and that there was only one plane involved, the one that hit the second tower. No plane for the first tower, no plane for the Pentagon, and no plane in Pennsylvania.

But who organized this hoax? Tarpley has a theory and I’m sure it’s documented and makes sense. I want to get my hands on his book, which has been translated into at least a half-dozen languages.

  59. Well I just don’t like how everyone throws in this socialist/anti-american label when speaking about Jarrett/Obama.
Last night I read up on Jarrett’s business deals at the Habitat Company and various other entities.
Personally I think she is the one who mentored obama thru Michelle. Jarrett is nothing but the head of the snake in the mob. She is “The Mob”, no one suspects that because she is a woman! She is also very sympathic toward Iran…according to Wbboei’s article the only place she was treated as an American first and not an AA.
Her business deals with Habitat, her connection to Northwestern University, which incidently has been on the recieving end of millions in stimulus money is very apparent. I also think this is where Michelle Obama’s brother works as a basketball coach.
We need to look at habitat and Northwestern University….I think we will uncover the mob which has now gone “world wide”.

  60. 12/29/2010

Danny Davis, Bill Clinton and Rahm Emanuel …

What’s the right thing for Bill Clinton to do?

I was struck by this Chicago political story this morning — the one in which U.S. Rep. and Chicago mayoral candidate Danny Davis asked friend and former President Bill Clinton not to campaign for Chicago mayoral candidate and former Clinton staffer Rahm Emanuel.

Phew! What a web of friendships and alliances!

It’s struck a chord with readers, too. Politically, it would help Emanuel with black voters, among whom David currently has a slight lead. Comments on the story are climbing. So are pageviews. But what’s the right thing for Bill Clinton to do?

We took an online straw poll on Wednesday. 83 percent of respondents thought Clinton should campaign with Rahm Emanuel. 17 percent thought he should respect his friend Danny Davi’s’ wishes. What do you think?

    http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/tribnation/2010/12/danny-davis-bill-clinton-and-rahm-emanuel-.html

  61. Mrs. Smith the Republican animus goes back to the Watergate hearings and the degree to which she pushed the investigation against Nixon. He later told Hillary I wish we had you on OUR side. The other point is more so perhaps than her fellow democrats, Hillary has commanded the highest respect from Republican officials, as opposed to staff pukes or worse yet their campaign propagandists who must always create a devil to scare people into contributing. Fearing her as they did, they reasoned that if they help get him the nomination in the primary then the democrats would lose the election.

This was the grand Rove strategy. It was the answer to the question he asked by email to his minions around the country: what are we going to do about her? The reason they thought it would work was because they believed that when they revealed the Wright tapes, the country would find Obama so repugnant to their values that it would be like the George McGovern collapse.

This stragegy failed to account for all the new variables e.g. the internet, the possibility of mobilizing a gullible youth vote, but most of all it failed to seriously consider the cancerous state of the media. The media was determined to control the election and to make sure Obama was installed. In a sense, what happened in 2008 was an epic victory of big media over the best interests of the country, and the triumph of Goebbels methods over rationality and common sense. Manipulate the public through mass psychology. McCain realized that rather late in the game and by then it was too late.

I look back and laugh at myself. I left the party in 2000 as an advisor when my friend term limited herself and resigned sometime later because as a small government Republican I was never in cinc with the neocons. In fact, I was a pretty harsh critic, for what it is worth. When I joined the Hillary campaign as a volunteer I heard rumors out west of some silver bullet that they were holding and I tried every way I could to find what it was so I could pass it up the line. Since I was not in anyones inner circle at that point they would not tell me, and the people I asked to find out for me pushed it to some degree but could not find out either. When it did come out, big media tried to hide it. I will never forget that pained look on Amderson Coopers face when he was forced to say something about Obama’s spiritual advisor.

Also, it appears we are going to see alot of Obama out and about next year trying to convince voters that he knows best–the article says Obama will “begin detaching himself more from Congress and spending more time making his case directly to the American people.” ******************
Is it even possible to see more of Obama next year? He’s on tv everyday and Fox and c-span dutifully broadcast it live.
    &&&&&

    BigCatLover,
Not only is it possible, it’s almost unavoidable that we’ll see even more of him, every frikkin day. Like Dear Leader.

He avoids “serious” talk shows like the plague, but pops up in unpresidential spots like comedy (Stewart’s Daily Show), chat (The View), and “fun stuff” (Myth Busters).

The RGB Times has found his schedule for 2011, and it does not disappoint:

    * New Year’s Eve with the Obamas!!! Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest get shunted to the sidelines (to cover “crowd reaction”) while Obama bathes in the limelight. The crystal ball drop will be replaced by the Fluffy poodle drop, down into a pit-bull infested pit, where Michael Vick will ensure it is a “fair fight”. Misogynist rappers to usher in the new year.

    * Obama will take over for one week around the Super Bowl on ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption”, because of his encyclopedic knowledge of all things sports, and avoids his weak area (“government”). Sports has nothing do with government, except when teams demand public monies for building new stadiums that somehow still don’t produce enough JOBS.

    * Host for “Money Drop” on April 15th, when one billion dollars (instead of the usual million) will be flushed down the hole “just ‘cause”. This will be called “stimulus programming”.

    * Co-hosting “When Animals Attack”, with…you guessed it, Michael Vick.

    * Announcing the lottery at 11PM. “You’ll have a better chance of winning the big one that I do of locating that darn original birth certificate”

    * Used car commercials. Not fearing complaints of “conflict of interest” from a p-whipped media (aka “state mouthpieces”), he’ll be able to earn some more pocket money for when the girls go to college. “I have experience selling anything to an unsuspecting public; I presided over a government takeover of the US auto industry (and then gave it back); and for some bizarre reason, people trust me”.

wbboei: Thanks for the (long) Ben Johnson article. Very enlightening.
    ———————–
You are welcome. The remarkable thing about this is the New York Times sent 17 investigative reporters to Alaska to dig up dirt on Sarah, and yet big media accepts someone with THIS SORDID BACKGROUND as if she was a legitimate representative of a legitimate administration who believes in the country and will do what is right. No need to vet her they say, she is one of us. Ignorant as swans, they are. Or else corrupt.

The question Milton Freidman used to always ask is particularly apt: “Does a cat bark?”

  65. confloyd: “If FDR and Tarpley are socialists, well I guess I am too!”

    You’re in good company.

It’s just important that the word ‘socialist’ not have that awful anti-American ring to it.

In any case, our current potus is in now way socialist.

  66. We are all Socialists to some degree: ie if we support Social Security, public roads, any programs for school lunch, public health care, etc etc. FDR did some major Socialist stuff: SS, Medicare?

Hillarycare was more socialistic than Obamacare (which is fascist).

Someone who did not do their homework in 2008 might have thought Obama was more socialist than Hillary — he certainly tried to pass as such, or his supporters thought he was. And Hillary didn’t fly the Socialist flag either, she called herself an ‘early 20th century Progressive.’

  67. The RGB Times has found his schedule for 2011, and it does not disappoint:
    ———————————
Now that is news we can believe in. You have my vote for the Pulitzer. Far superior to anything we find at WashPo which seems to collect more than its fair share of Pulizters for pieces which many of us would consider slooppy research and bad journalism. Eugene Robinson is a perfect example–he described Obama as “a thoughtful man, in a thoughtful house, in a thoughtful city”. The question that imbecile failed to ask is what is he thinking about–certainly not his job, or the best interests of the country? Echo answereth not.

  68. It might be a reasonable use of words to choose some middle point and say everyone left of it is ‘socialist’ compared to the rest of the people. Eg we could say that those who support single-payer hc are ‘socialist’ and those who oppose it are not.

But of course the GOP is muddying the water by calling Obama’s plans socialist when they are just the opposite: fascist.

Turndown: what you say here is very true.

  70. Here is another extended article on Jarrett from NYT (I had cited passages from it on a post in NQ)
    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/26/magazine/26jarrett-t.html

“But within the campaign, Valerie had been saying, ‘You guys, you’re not getting this issue right,’ ” recalls a top official. “And Obama communicated to his senior advisers that he thought we were a little gun-shy on race issues; that the reality was, he did look different. There were also African-Americans on our staff, some in relatively senior positions, who were clearly upset that we had not consulted them in the response. And she actually organized a meeting to discuss it.

“And that’s not just a process thing,” the adviser said. “Because moving forward, the candidate made it very clear to us that we were just a bunch of white people who didn’t get it — which, by the way, was true.”

That Obama required the presence of someone who did “get it” inevitably meant that he would want Jarrett in the White House. (“Of course!” Jarrett remembers Obama’s wife exclaiming back in September 2007. “Hasn’t he said anything to you yet?”) Last July, however, Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois floated an intriguing alternative — namely, that Jarrett consider filling the Senate seat that would be vacated by Obama should he win the presidency. The notion gained enthusiastic support from different quarters. To her friends and family, becoming a U.S. senator would allow her to flourish on her own. To less admiring colleagues in the Obama campaign, it meant that they would not have to deal with her in the White House.

  71. I am so sick of the social security is socialism meme. I pay on average $126. twice a month for social security multiply that x 24 years. These republicans owe me some money, but they gave to their fat cat business owners who are hiring overseas and not here.

  72. What I’ve just realized is that if Valerie Jarrett is the real Potus, then we’ve got an Iranian running the United States! Perhaps this is why Iran seems to just blow us off? Hmmm, hmmm! Well now if we only knew where Obama was born, this could be a real constitutional crisis!

Yes, I remember your post on this pm 317. Monsters like Jarrett often hide their true identity from the public eye. They present a benign appearance in public. It is only when you start digging into their past that you begin to understand what makes them tick. People like this do not change, they simply learn to master the disguises and leave no footprints. The other way you find out that they are monsters is when you happen to meet them in some cloistered setting and they start trying to slip arsenic into your wine. Livia, the wife of Augustus Caesar, was famous or rather infamous for that, all lurking behind that benign smile. Think back to the wonderful series “I Claudius” and you will know what I mean. That in a nutshell is VJ. Big media will never tell you this. You have to figure it our yourself.

  74. Regarding Chris Matthews’ 7 minute interview with Clarence Page (Chicago Tribune, home town rooter) and David Corn (Mother Jones, about as far left as you get without joining Earth First); the two “expert” guests were so far backing Obama that Tingles gets to look centrist????

Then there’s the double standards. Page dismisses out of hand the whole argument, that “the president has truly more important things to do”. I guess like vacationing endlessly. And showing up on Myth Busters. Playing basketbasll with celebs.

Yet this completely skates over that the governmente has an obligation to ensure that candidates prove who they are; putting up stuff on a web site is not sufficient. An honest media needs to hold government to task if government is lackadaisical in their duties; but who said our media is honest?

After Page shows indifference about the whole matter, he then goes on to accuse birthers of not being interested enough. I suppose in believing whatever false proof was trotted out by Team Obama to cover his butt.

Corn meanwhile considers the birthers ignorant, yet he himself can’t keep straight that it is 20% in that poll who believe he was born “elsewhere”, and 23% who “don’t know”.

They wrap up this folly by saying, “sure, the real document should eventually be trotted out to shut up the birthers”. But they are only caving in because Chris rubbed the obvious in their faces, that it looks bad. It looks bad that LESS THAN 60% of the people polled believe HE HAS A RIGHT TO OCCUPY THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT.

The two “experts” turned out to have very little to say, and none of it was constructive, it was obfuscatory.

  75. In the information age, the role of gatekeeper becomes more important than ever. It is impossible for any individual to keep track of all the information which is now available, thus in order to make any sense of it a sorting and labeling is necessary. But to be a gatekeeper worthy of pubic respect, the gatekeeper must be neutral and let in the truth. The truth marches to its own drum, and is not the exclusive province of either party. So the question comes down to whether the presumed gatekeeper lets in the truth, or only the information which supports its predetermined narrative. In the case of big media, they have chosen the role of advocate over the role of seeker of the truth, power player over the role of public servant, so they cannot possibly be a legitimate gatekeeper. Those who want the truth must seek it elsewhere. That is the bottom line.

  76. Admin’s link at the top points to a NY Times article with this quote:

“The birther movement began during the 2008 campaign when some of Mr. Obama’s critics claimed, without offering proof, that he was born in Kenya, like his father, Barack Obama Sr.”

So the birthers cannot be believed because they DON’T HAVE PROOF.

But Obama is not taken to task for his lack of proof.

The article cites the “conclusive proof”: the on-line birth certificate (don’t make me laugh), and the circumstantial evidence of two newspaper postings.

That Times article, just like David Corn, makes the newspaper articles to be PROOF POSITIVE of his real birth. Yet when he was born, his mother may not have tried to get his birth listed in the papers so that one day little Barry could be president, but maybe simply so that he could be deemed a citizen.

So no, that’s not good enough.

I say, the proof should be good enough so that one could get their driver’s license renewed, which is needed when applying for any job from burger flipping (which I’ve done) on up.

  77. wbboei, thank you! All I can say is how dare they? But they do when they can get away with it. I hope he and his cronies are thoroughly exposed before they leave office. I can’t understand how this kind of ‘eclectic’ background in a president or the people that surround him be taken so lightly or dismissed. It also makes me angry that Jarrett (what the hell has she done?) be able to run the WH/country. Wasn’t there a story recently that in the meeting with corporate heads that she did all the talking and not Obama and in talking to the press she attributed things to him that he never said? Somebody should put a stop to this charade.

RGB, yep, tingly and the other two fuckers and how they danced around all 7 minutes of it.

  78. http://www.newsmax.com/InsideCover/Obama-birth-certificate-Matthews/2010/12/29/id/381362?s=al&promo_code=B61D-1

I am amazed we are still discussing this. Matthews says now he is not a birther, he just thinks they should publish the long for BC to close the issue. So why doesn’t He.

    1. There is a problem with the long form (None or something wrong with the information)

    2. Or he does not think he is answerable to the American People, who, as President he is suppose to serve.

So which is it? You don’t spend all of that money for nothing. After all, I am sure his wife would rather use the money for shoppin or vacations.

  79. I am ambivalent about the releasing of the birth certificate. It is almost like challenging something that ought to be a given and I can understand that he does not want to fall for it and he would ask, did you ask other presidents too and why didn’t you. But the other presidents didn’t have your ‘eclectic’ background is what we can say and the fact that there was absolutely no vetting. If he had been forthright in releasing other info like transcripts and medical records, it would have been easy to silence skeptics. Here is where like wbboei says we needed an objective media to be on our side giving us a voice.

  80. Union thugs deliberately did it.

Sanitation Department’s slow snow clean-up was a budget protest (NYC union thugs)

    http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/sanit_filthy_snow_slow_mo_qH57MZwC53QKOJlekSSDJK

Selfish Sanitation Department bosses from the snow-slammed outer boroughs ordered their drivers to snarl the blizzard cleanup to protest budget cuts — a disastrous move that turned streets into a minefield for emergency-services vehicles, The Post has learned.

Miles of roads stretching from as north as Whitestone, Queens, to the south shore of Staten Island still remained treacherously unplowed last night because of the shameless job action, several sources and a city lawmaker said, which was over a raft of demotions, attrition and budget cuts.

“They sent a message to the rest of the city that these particular labor issues are more important,” said City Councilman Dan Halloran (R-Queens), who was visited yesterday by a group of guilt-ridden sanitation workers who confessed the shameless plot.

Halloran said he met with three plow workers from the Sanitation Department — and two Department of Transportation supervisors who were on loan — at his office after he was flooded with irate calls from constituents.

The snitches “didn’t want to be identified because they were afraid of retaliation,” Halloran said. “They were told [by supervisors] to take off routes [and] not do the plowing of some of the major arteries in a timely manner. They were told to make the mayor pay for the layoffs, the reductions in rank for the supervisors, shrinking the rolls of the rank-and-file.”

New York’s Strongest used a variety of tactics to drag out the plowing process — and pad overtime checks — which included keeping plows slightly higher than the roadways and skipping over streets along their routes, the sources said.

The snow-removal snitches said they were told to keep their plows off most streets and to wait for orders before attacking the accumulating piles of snow.

They said crews normally would have been more aggressive in com bating a fierce, fast-moving bliz zard like the one that barreled in on Sunday and blew out the next morning.

If this is true, they need to fire the hell out of these union bosses.

  82. Has anyone ever vetted Jarrett? I mean really vetted her?

Or has it been done and given a pass like obama’s vetting?

  83. President Obama has outraged Republicans by directly appointing six officials this week without the consent of Congress, including his pick for deputy attorney general, who once compared the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks to the drug trade.

The president announced the so-called recess appointments Wednesday, using his power to install sidelined nominees while Congress is on break. They will still need to be confirmed by the Senate before the end of the next session, but the recess appointments allow Obama to break a series of logjams and fill positions that have been vacant for months.

Obama appointed four new U.S. ambassadors, along with the U.S. public printer and the deputy attorney general.

The latter, James Cole, had been in limbo since he was nominated in May, though his name did clear the Senate Judiciary Committee over the summer. Republicans had questioned his past consulting work with bailed-out insurance giant AIG but had been particularly critical of his stance on prosecuting terror suspects.

I want his birth certificate, and after that I want skin and blood samples. Then, I want him to hop up and down on one foot and cluck like a chicken. Then prop his boney ass up in a dunk tank filled with carpet tacks. No reason.

  85. JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) – Lisa Murkowski certified winner of Alaska Senate race after long legal battle…..urgh stuck with this cow for another 6 years.

  86. or alternatively

Alaskan voters saddle themselves with horrendous corporate schilling bought off disaster for 6 more years. Way to go, you wanted it, you got it….no sympathy Alaska.

  87. JanH, 2:35,

I also believe those union thugs did this at the request of Obama’s personal thugs because Bloomberg is apparently part of this “no labels” movement, which has many, many Hillary supporters in it and some of the founding members include Kiki McLean….a Clintonite!

They want to knock out Bloomberg’s independent run, which by the way may be being supported by Soros. Obama is supported by the mob and the middleeast. Wouldn’t it be just like Teddy to give us and install the mob in Washington, D.C. as payback for his assassinated brothers? I know it sounds far fetched, but there is just something inherently wrong with this Valerie Jarrett and everyone scared of pissing off Obama….it’s just not right…something is wrong here…I just wish I could figure it out.

The more I think about the BC issue, I think its one of those issues that keep us from digging up the real story!

    MOP,
I can’t believe how Murkowski won in Alaska….fraud is now in all 50 states and in D.C. The question is WHO is the master behind all this fraud and what is the purpose of it???

  88. See you guys later, I’m off saving lives again….but I’m off for three glorious days after tonight…..I plan on having a good time.

Sure wish I could show you all my new doo….$125.00 later, I’m thinking its the best one ever! LOL!

  89. The whole state of Alaska is at the mercy of oil companies and the the voters won’t go against it. The oil companies throw tidbits at them to silence them. To visit the Arctic Ocean in Prudhoe Bay, you have to take a ‘conducted tour’ from BP in a bus and you are not free to walk around on the beach because it belongs to the oil company — they let you out of the bus for 15 minutes and shuttle you back to a motel in Deadhorse. They say it is for security reasons but it is a joke.

    =========
I hope Hillary told Jarrett it was none of her damn business and that she is out of line even asking her.
    &&&&&&

I am sure Hillary conveyed, “Who died and made YOU the president?”.

Jarrett might think she’s “all that”, but let’s face it, she’s a neophyte in Washington who apparently hasn’t learned very much, except that Obama is perfectly willing to let other people make decisions for him. If she was such a capable behind-the-scenes power broker, I’d have to say that she did a lousy job in trying to make Obama look good.

Proof? Example 1: the results of the 2010 elections. Also known as The Grand Shellacking. This result, despite all the alleged “achievements” and “wins” for Obama.

    &&&&&
Meanwhile, real power and real talent works hard and steadily. Hillary is not afraid to speak for what’s right across the globe and on matters of domestic importance. She is widely respected, on both sides of the aisle, even from people who once could not stand her, and who dared her to succeed on her own as a senator.

And don’t get me started on what the drastic difference is between the two on policy issues. Hillary and Bill are true policy wonks, because they care about causes, care about people, and understand how to enact laws that benefit those who need help.

Stuff that in your pipe, Valerie.

  91. AN OBAMA CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!!!?

Get ready for Gibbs and other Obamabozos to trumpet this latest statistic, which is going to be spun as proof positive that a) Obamanomics work b) he’s the REAL “Comeback Kid” (not that other feller), c) he’s obviously unstoppable on his path to re-election:

    www1.realclearpolitics.com/news/ap/politics/2010/Dec/30/unemployment_benefit_applications_drop_sharply.html#
    Unemployment benefit applications drop sharply
    Christopher S. Rugaber
The number of people applying for unemployment benefits fell to its lowest point in nearly two and a half years, a sign that the job market is slowly improving.

Applications dropped by 34,000 to 388,000, the fewest since July 2008, the Labor Department said Thursday. The number of applications has either fallen or remained unchanged in five of the past six weeks.

Fewer than 425,000 people seeking unemployment benefits signals modest job growth. But economists say applications need to fall consistently to 375,000 or below to bring down the unemployment rate. Applications for unemployment benefits peaked during the recession at 651,000 in March 2009.

The latest report, which covers the week with the Christmas holiday, is considered by some economists to be less reliable than most. One reason is that many state offices close for at least one day. Other seasonal factors make the report more volatile.

Still, a department analyst said there were no unusual factors affecting the report and that it considers the impact of the holiday.

Economists said what matters most is the downward trend.

“If we can continue this improving trend, we’ll likely see stronger job growth in 2011,” said Benjamin Reitzes, an economist at BMO Capital Markets.

Separately, the number of people who signed contracts to buy homes rose in November, the fourth increase since contract signings hit a low point in June.

The National Association of Realtors said its index of sales agreements for previously occupied homes increased 3.5 percent last month from October. Still, this year’s pace of completed home sales — which the Realtors group measures in a separate report — is shaping up to be the slowest in 13 years.

Historically low mortgage rates have done little to boost the struggling housing market. This week the average rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage rose to its highest level in seven months. It was up to 4.86 percent from 4.81 percent in the previous week, mortgage giant Freddie Mac said. It had been 4.17 percent last month, a 40-year low.

Applications are the closest thing to a real-time snapshot of the job market. They reflect the level of layoffs but can also indicate whether companies are willing to add workers.

The four-week average, a less-volatile measure, dropped by 12,500 to 414,000 in the week ending Dec. 25. That’s the lowest level since late July 2008.

For most of the year applications hovered around 450,000 before dropping below that number in November. The four-week average has fallen by more than 40,000 in the past two months — a sign that hiring could accelerate in the coming months.

Employers added a net total of only 39,000 jobs in November, the Labor Department said earlier this month, and the unemployment rose to 9.8 percent.

Most economists expect the December jobs report will show larger job gains. The report comes out on Jan. 7.

Reitzes said that employers likely added 150,000 net new jobs this month. He also projects the unemployment rate will tick down to 9.7 percent. The monthly total of new jobs could increase next year if claims continue dropping steadily, he said.

The total number of people receiving unemployment benefits rose in the week ending Dec. 18 to 4.13 million.

That doesn’t include millions of unemployed workers receiving extended benefits under an emergency program set up during the recession. About 4.5 million people are receiving extended benefits for up to 99 weeks. All told, nearly 8.9 million people obtained unemployment benefits in the week ending Dec. 11, the latest data available.

  92. Yes JanH, Obama is supporting and rewarding Israel’s sworn enemies. From Cairo to Indonesia, he has made it clear that he is no friend of the only democracy in the middle east. His actions have created a wave of anti-Israeli and in partucular, anti-semitism , not seen since Germany shortly before WW2. The irony is that prominent Jews here in America finaced and enabled him to become president. Hopefully, Israel can wait it out until he is out-be it 2 yrs or 6. The one thing Israel must do is be strong despite the pressure. Israel must continue to build more settlements in our g-d given land and no more concessions to the PALS who seek not peace, but our destruction.

  93. People of Valerie and her ilk know only thuggery and not policy — buying unions off to do their bidding of intimidation and who knows what else. Wasn’t the story for this lameduck session that a few lawmakers took it upon themselves to move a few things because they were not getting any direction from the WH?

Here is one story that tells you something about Jarrett — these people are crooks and are not to be take seriously other than to run them out of town:

I see Valerie Jarrett a lot — often at Georgetown’s power crowd restaurant, Cafe Milano.

In fact, one night when I was at the annual gala dinner of Jim Zogby’s Arab American Institute — an important evening for leading figures from the Arab-American community to connect with the Washington political establishment — Jarrett was on the docket to be the major keynote speaker of the entire night.

Jarrett, however, had to modify her schedule because of what she said were “urgent duties that were calling her back to the White House right away” and so she gave a few minutes of laudatory comments toward the Arab American community before most people were in their seats between reception and sitting down for dinner. My hosts that evening said that they were mainly interested in hearing her and asked me if I wanted to depart with them for Cafe Milano. I said sure — and wow — there Ms. Jarrett was.

Maybe she did stop at the White House between the JW Marriott and the Georgetown hot spot. That was possible — but it would have had to be a nano-second drop by.

Compare this to President Bill Clinton giving the major keynote remarks in March 1995 at the Nixon Center’s opening conference in Washington at the Mayflower Hotel when Clinton came early for a VIP reception, stayed for the entire sit down dinner, gave a 90 minute long speech, and mingled with folks after.

People can tell when you are focused on them in a serious way — and when you are giving them a cursory glance.

  94. The birther movement began during the 2008 campaign when some of Mr. Obama’s critics claimed, without offering proof, that he was born in Kenya, like his father, Barack Obama Sr.”
    ————————-
His own paternal grandmother said he was born in Kenya. But from the New York Times perspective that is not “proof”. They couldn’t even admit that her testimony to that effect was at least “some” proof. Indeed, some proof from someone in the immediate family who was present at that event. Indeed, at that momentous event when twenty centuries of stony sleep were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle. The inevitable question becomes if that is not proof, then what is. The answer is the New York Times will classify as proof anything that supports its narrative that Obama like the Pope is infallible, and Obama is our greatest president, regardless of whether it is true or false. Gatekeepers? Them??? Give me a fucking break!!! They are a fucking joke, and so is anyone who takes them seriously.

So the big plan of Rove’s/Rethugs to stop Barry was to pull out the Rev. Wright card?

    Really?

Wright didn’t have much effect on the Rethug voters, let alone any Democrats. Sure it was hidden somewhat by the MSM, but that is nothing new and Dems didn’t flinch when it did come out.

I was shocked during the general election, thinking that any minute the Rethugs would roll out the tanks and run over Barry. I kept waiting, and waiting for McCain to get tough and be backed by his party. The only two that were driving tanks were Sarah and Hannity in my book. And they were only covered honestly by Fox. McCain acted like a frightened, out of touch senile man, not a strong leader. I don’t like the Rethugs but I did expect them to put on a fight for the Oval, but it never came.

Barry was drug over the finish line like the wimp he is. The only real fight put on in the entire election process was with the true winner, our Hillary.

  96. Fuck whether it’s “fair” or not to ask for his fucking birth certificate. If fair were an operative word here, we’d all be sleeping much better under President Clinton. FUCK him and fuck fair. Then prop his boney ass up in a dunk tank filled with carpet tacks. No reason.
    ———————————————
When he opens the door by demanding that McCain produce his birth certificate, posts a forged birth certificate on is website, and spends upwards of two million dollars resisting legal demands that he produce a birth certificate, which is a simple pro forma act, it is “fair”, reasonable and perfectly logical for people of good will to ask and expect him to produce it. Failure to do so raises a negative inference. What is he hiding is the question anyone would ask? He could have destroyed it and said it did not exist. Most people would accept that. But instead he maintains that he has it but the people he represents cannot see it. I believe it shows either: that he was not borne in the United States, or his real father was not Barack Hussein Obama, or something else in that document which he does not want people to know. It may conflict with his autobiography or he may just be a sociopath.

  97. Whatever the snipe, ‘birther’ is an ugly term to nail on folks that want to know WHO and WHERE their President came from.

    http://www.ktla.com/news/landing/ktla-brown-budget-preview,0,79727.story

SACRAMENTO — Gov.-elect Jerry Brown is getting ready to tell Californians the news they don’t want to hear: Taxes need to be raised, services cut and belts tightened.

His budget plan includes deep cuts to state services, including university systems and welfare programs, with a request that voters extend temporary tax hikes on vehicles, income and sales that are set to expire next year.

The blueprint Brown will unveil when he takes office early next month also is expected to take aim at several tax breaks and subsidies that have been fiercely guarded by the business lobby in Sacramento, according to people involved in budget discussions with the incoming administration.

Among the breaks are multi-billion-dollar incentives for redevelopment projects and hundreds of millions of dollars of “enterprise zone” credits meant to encourage investment in blighted neighborhoods.

Also targeted is a recent change to state business tax formulas that has saved corporate California roughly $1 billion.

  99. So the big plan of Rove’s/Rethugs to stop Barry was to pull out the Rev. Wright card?

    Really?
    ———————
Absolutely. Rove is a quintessential establishment Republican. An evil force when it comes to the American People. His upbringing may be part of it. He is joined at the hip with big oil and he hates the Tea Party Movement just as much as Olbershit does. Rove wanted McCain to lose because McCain would have nothing to do with him after Rove spread false rumors about him in South Carolina in the 2000 primary. He wanted McCain to lose because if that happened then he could say if he had had me then he would not have lost. By the same token if McCain had won he would not be where he is on FOX. Rush fell for this early on, but by the middle of the primary he figured out what Rove was up to and went the other way with his Operation Chaos which as intended to destabilize Obama. I ran into a Sergeant Rock type of guy in Indiana who was a Republican and when I approached him in his yard with a Hillary literature he gave me one of those if looks could kill stares and then he paused and smiled with a twinkle in his eye and said I get it. Operation Chaos. I will see what I can do.

The people who voted for Moonbeam will be thrilled to see taxes go up. It will not affect them. But when he moves to Step II and starts cutting benefits and services, then we shall see. An old acquaintance of mine was his speech writer and now would be a fine time for him to dust off some of those old Hi Linda (Ronstadt), Here I Am, Less Is More speeches. He was good at that. As in the famous Boothill inscription here lies Les Moore, from an A-44, no less no more. If I am right that is what they will think of his newfangled tighten your belt, because barack is tightening his belt, because Michelle is tightening her sash, etc. Governor Brown will soon be tested. No space programs for you in this millenium Moonbeam. But that does not mean we don’t love you. But don’t you dare cut our services or benefits.

    ———
That is the piece that I didn’t know. So Rove was willing to let Obama ‘win’ over McCain, giving the Dems the Oval, just for this? What happened to the rest of the Rethugs that didn’t care if Barry won over McCain. Why did McCain even win the primary if the party didn’t want him?

  102. The people who voted for Moonbeam will be thrilled to see taxes go up. It will not affect them.

    ———-
Actually, I voted for Brown and I will not be happy to see my taxes increase, but there has to be some pain in CA to get this deficit under control. Cut government workers, close the border, everyone here has to feel a little more pain and quit spending like we actually had the money. Folks here know it, no one is as foolish as mentioned on the blog. Will Brown be perfect? I doubt it, but I would rather he makes the cuts than someone like Meg Whitman.

    ———————————–
To conservatives, McCain was a Republican in name only. This portion of a recent post by Moe Lane accurately describes their thinking. Just substitute the word dimocrats for the word democrats and you will get the drift. This is in response to Krauthammers suggestion that they not take down Obamacare directly, but indirectly through hearings.

    • First off, we’ve all been to this particular rodeo before. In 2006 and 2008 one of the more insidious arguments pitched to conservatives was that staying home for those elections would give the Democrats a prime opportunity to show that they were incompetent buffoons who would mess the whole thing up. The good news? It worked: they were incompetent buffoons who messed the whole thing up. The bad news? It worked: they were incompetent buffoons who messed the whole thing up. I’d rather not repeat this with Obamacare, thanks.

  104. Using money like water again…..

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/barackobama/8232617/Barack-Obamas-Hawaii-holiday-costs-at-least-1-million.html

Barack Obama’s Hawaii holiday ‘costs at least £1 million’
Barack Obama’s family holiday in Hawaii is reportedly costing at least $1.5 million (£1 million) as mainland America is battered by storms.

The calculation of Mr Obama’s holiday costs included $63,000 for his wife’s early flight out, and $16,800 to house Secret Service agents and Navy Seals in beach front accommodation for two weeks.

There will be a further hotel bill estimated at $134,400 for 24 White House staff staying in the Moana Hotel at a rate of $400 a day.

The estimate, by the Hawaii Reporter, also included $250,000 for local police overtime, $1 million for the president’s own round trip flight to Hawaii on Air Force One, and $10,000 for a local ambulance to accompany the presidential motorcade.

Additional costs such as staff meals, renting cars for White House staff, and travel costs for Secret Service agents travelling ahead of the president were not included, meaning the bill will probably be even higher.

The paper suggested the costs could have been kept down. It said the president could have stayed at a military base instead of the luxury 7,000 sq ft villa he has rented for $3,500 a day which has been dubbed the “Winter White House.” Mr Obama is paying the rental himself.

“They could have chosen a less expensive and more secure place to stay such as a beachfront home on the Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station just a two-minute drive away from the where they are now,” the newspaper said.

The White House has insisted the cost of Mr Obama’s holidays are in line with those of previous presidents.

  105. Shadow, I had a conversation with McConnell over this at the time McCain was trying to pass Campaign Finance Reform over the First Amendment concerns raised by McConnell. He said that McCain was a darling of the New York Times and of course in those days they called him a Maverick but he was never much more like a pawn in their hands. On the way to the door getting campaign finance reform passed the dumb son of a bitch got rolled by Soros. He eliminated soft money, BUT he opened the door to a much larger problem with the 527 provision which can raise unlimited sums. He set out to take big money out of the system, but in the end he opened up a much larger portal for it to come in. The result of his efforts are what you see today. It is not surprising to me how McCain became anchorman of his class.

  106. wbb

I don’t get it. The conservatives let McCain win the primary, then not back him to let Barry win, to let it show that Dems were idiots and would let the country see how they would mess everything up?

I actually thought folks like Rove were pretty smart, in a Rethug smart sort of way…but the country under Bush and letting Barry win isn’t very smart. The Rethugs are on probation right now, they are not seen as the party heros.

Seems like both parties in general are pretty self serving, not very wise and are both in deep trouble by the American voters.

  107. Have you noticed how this thing works> Every time you see the word reform attached to a piece of legislation, whether it be campaign finance reform, health reform, financial reform, etc. once you get past the title you will find the real purpose of the bill, and more important the effect, is to advantage big business over the rights of the American People. These days it never seems to fail. The word “reform” is Orwellian. The problem is it lends itself well to soundbite, and most Americans never bother to find out what it is really about, or to do what the founding fathers envisioned that a people who had the power would do to protect democracy.

This points to a quote I used in the paper I posted here over two years ago called The Real Story of the 2008 Democratic Primary, on why it is imperative to fight Obama and the forces that control him:

“Already long ago, from when we sold our vote to no man, the people have abdicated their duties; for the People who once upon a time handed out high civic office, military command, Roman legions-everything, now restrains itself and hopes for just two things: bread and circuses.” (Satire X by the Roman Poet Juvenal, 1st Century A.D.).

  108. I don’t get it. The conservatives let McCain win the primary, then not back him to let Barry win, to let it show that Dems were idiots and would let the country see how they would mess everything up?
    ———————————–
It gets back to the crucial distinction between a conservative on the one hand, and a republican on the other. The two are not the same. The republicans gave him the nomination based largely on considerations of seniority. If you believe Ulsterman, then big media and the Obama campaign helped secure that choice as well. Conservatives however never bought into it, so they stayed home to get even with him and the party. You can see now how that turned out. And that is where Moe Lane is coming from.

  109. Seems like both parties in general are pretty self serving, not very wise and are both in deep trouble by the American voters.
    ————————————————————-
I told you the story of how when I offered my services to the democratic party in the middle 1970s an insider told me that if you do it for idealistic reasons you will be disappointed. You must decide early on what is in it for you. The very next day the man I spoke to was indicted on a contractor scandal, and six months later plead guilty in a tearful elocution. That is what you are dealing with in both parties. My godfather was a key player in the party in the aftermath of World War II and he used to say an honest politician is one who stays bought. So that is what you are dealing with. Even so, it is a system that can work for the American People, and can still serve the public interest if and only if we have an honest press. The founding fathers had no illusions about the press, and they dealt with pamplteers who were the moral equivalent of maureen dowd or some other skunk. But they believed, as Holmes did, in a marketplace of ideas and for that reason they inserted a provision in the first amendment to create a press free of government control. What they never envisioned was a press like the one we have today, which cares nothing for the country, does not believe the people deserved the truth, and is primarily concerned with exercising and expanding its control over the electoral process and society. How different that is from the reality of their day, which consisted of a patriot who had a printing press in his basement, whom the Redcoats would gladly hang if they could find it.

  110. One final thought before I go visit my mom in the nursing home. The difference between Obama and all the presidents who have come before him is just that he is black. We would have had a qualified black president in time regardless. The real difference between Obama and every president that preceded him is he literally HATES America. How do we know this. Well wake the fuck up. Just whom has he surrounded himself with in his formative years? And who does he associate with now? When he junkets abroad what does he say about us? Does he keep his promises to us when he makes them? Does he play the race card? Does he blame the American People for his own failures? Is big media such a cocophany of dead souls that they can do nothing more that cry hail Caesar–or merry christmas mr president as Tapper did when he enters the room. Evidently.

  111. Why Am I Not Surprised? Braun may get 90% of the black vote, but others may question her bona fides. Of course she will scream racist in that shrill voice of hers. She may call Bill a racist, but an objective witness might wonder who the real racist is here. False allegations of racism are the last refuge of scoundrels–like Braun.

    The scoop from Washington
Bill Clinton, Hillary helped Braun in 1998 Senate race: Braun wants Clinton to stay out of 2011 Chicago mayoral
By Lynn Sweet on December 30, 2010 3:38 PM | No Comments

WASHINGTON–Chicago Mayoral hopeful Carol Moseley Braun warned former President Clinton not to “parachute” into Chicago to campaign for rival Rahm Emanuel. When the former senator was running for re-election in 1998, she welcomed Clinton and then First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton to Chicago to fund-raise and get out the vote for her.

    From the Chicago Sun-Times archives:

On Nov. 6, 1998, I wrote how Mrs. Clinton lamented that she should have done even more to help Braun win:

Clinton, “whose campaigning contributed to a string of Democratic election victories, said Thursday that she should have done more to help Sen. Carol Moseley-Braun win.” Clinton “made her observations in a conversation with Garry Wills, the Northwestern University professor and author who was at the White House to receive a National Humanities medal.”

Wills said that in a reception before the medal ceremony, “we talked mainly about how sad she was that they were not able to pull out the Braun election in Illinois. As she put it, ‘I got in there too late’ or ‘I was involved in too many other things.’ … She thinks if she got involved a little earlier, they might have done it.”

On Nov. 1, 1998, my former colleague Michael Gillis wrote:

“For the third time in two weeks, Democrats on Saturday brought in their heavy hitter from Washington to aid their local slate.

The heavy hitter’s named Clinton, but it’s not the president.

It’s the first lady, who remains an immensely popular figure in Illinois. Local politicians, particularly Sen. Carol Moseley-Braun, are hoping that popularity will translate into
    votes Tuesday.

Hillary Clinton was here to help Moseley-Braun Oct. 17, attending a rally at a Mount Prospect school. She returned on Oct. 22 and 23 to stump for — and raise money for — Moseley-Braun and Cook County Board President John Stroger.

On Saturday, she attended two rallies with the Democratic slate, first at Operation PUSH on the South Side and then at Wright College on the Northwest Side.

The first lady also has made a campaign commercial for Moseley-Braun and sent out a fund-raising letter on Moseley-Braun’s behalf. She raised $ 145,000 for the senator in 10 days, one of the most successful direct mail appeals of the campaign.

On Oct. 23, 1998, I wrote with colleague Mark Brown about Mrs. Clinton’s help for Braun:

The first lady’s only campaign commercial was made for Moseley-Braun, and her appeal was demonstrated in a fund-raising letter she sent out on Moseley-Braun’s behalf. She raised $ 145,000 for the senator in 10 days, one of the most successful direct mail appeals of the campaign, said spokesman Michael Briggs.

With four days of campaigning this year for Moseley-Braun, the TV spot and fund-raising, the first lady has done more for the Illinois senator than any other candidate except Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), whose daughter is married to Clinton’s brother.

“When Carol won her Senate seat in 1992, I was extremely proud that the state in which I was born and raised finally elected its first woman senator,” Clinton’s letter said, asking for money because the senator is “in the fight of her political life.”

Does Moseley-Braun think Clinton’s highly visible support will help her win back female voters who may have been dissatisfied with her first term?
“I think women voters are going to vote their interests, and there should be no question but that my representation and advocacy for women should encourage them to support my re-election,” Moseley-Braun said.

On Oct. 16, 1998, my colleague Scott Fornek wrote about President Clinton’s stumping for Braun:

President Clinton will fly into Chicago for a four-hour visit today to help Democrats raise $250,000 for the re-election campaign of Sen. Carol Moseley-Braun.

The trip comes just 24 hours before first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton arrives for some campaigning with the Chicago Democrat on Saturday.

Moseley-Braun’s staff said she plans to appear with Clinton at a luncheon fund-raiser at the Union League Club, barring last-minute emergencies.
Hillary Clinton is due to arrive here Saturday for a Democratic rally at Elmhurst College. Moseley-Braun’s staff had called the event “a pro-choice rally,” but school and campaign officials said Thursday it was a celebration of “women who have made a difference.”

    Controversy

Moseley Braun was the subject of a 1993 Federal Elections Commission investigation over $249,000 in unaccounted-for campaign funds. The agency found some small violations, but took no action against Moseley Braun, citing a lack of resources. Moseley Braun only admitted to bookkeeping errors. The Justice Department turned down two requests for investigations from the IRS.[4]
In 1996, Moseley Braun made a private trip to Nigeria, where she met with dictator Sani Abacha. Despite U.S. sanctions against that country, due to Abacha’s actions, the Senator did not notify, nor register her trip with, the State Department. She subsequently defended Abacha’s human rights records in Congress.[5] Her former fiancé Kgosie Matthews, who also served on her campaign staff (in violation of U.S. immigration regulations[6]), had been a lobbyist for the Nigerian government; Matthews would later leave the country.
In 1998, after George Will wrote a column reviewing the allegations of corruption against her,[7] Moseley Braun responded to Will’s comments, saying that “I think because he couldn’t say nigger, he said corrupt,”[8] She also compared Will to a Ku Klux Klansman, saying “I mean this very sincerely from the bottom of my heart: He can take his hood and put it back on again, as far as I’m concerned.”[9] Later, Moseley Braun apologized for her remarks.[8]

  114. More on obama appointing an ambassador to Syria…

Obama snubs Hillary, Senate in appointment
Congress gets blown off with Syrian envoy pick

    December 30, 2010
    By Aaron Klein
    WorldNetDaily

TEL AVIV – The Obama administration has bypassed the U.S. Senate by directly appointing four new ambassadors, including the first U.S. envoy to Syria since 2005, during the Christmas recess for Congress. It marks the second time President Obama bypassed another agency or government branch to appoint a new ambassador to Syria.

WND reported in July that Obama bypassed Hillary Clinton’s State Department in his announcement he would send a new ambassador to Syria, even disrupting agency negotiations with the Syrian government aimed at extracting concessions from the Damascus regime for the stepped-up diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The U.S. withdrew its ambassador from Syria several years ago in protest against the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafic Hariri, an attack widely blamed on Damascus.

Now the White House has picked a career diplomat for the post as part of an announcement regarding four new ambassadors despite some senatorial opposition based in part on the proposed envoys’ experience.

In the case of Syria, a number of senators were concerned sending an ambassador would reward Syria for its increased militant stance.

Syria is in a strategic and military alliance with Iran. It has been accused of helping fuel the insurgency against U.S. troops in Iraq. Syria is a state sponsor of the Hezbollah terrorist organization, reportedly helping the Iranian-backed Hezbollah to arm itself with more than 10,000 missiles and rockets. Also, leaders of the Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorist organizations are based in Syria.

The White House announced Obama was using his power to make recess appointments to fill envoy posts to Azerbaijan, Syria and NATO allies Turkey and the Czech Republic. Career diplomat Robert Ford will become the new ambassador to Syria.

When the Obama administration announced in June it would send a representative to Damascus, it did not obtain any concessions from Syria in exchange, a top official from Syria’s Information Ministry told WND in July. The official said Syria was in consultation with the State Department at the time about the possibility of renewing an American ambassadorship to Syria in a major upgrade of relations with the Damascus regime. The official said the White House announcement on the ambassador came without Syria first agreeing to preconditions for the move.

The official claimed that Syria would not have ended its relationships with Iran, Hezbollah or various Palestinian organizations in exchange for the sending of a U.S. ambassador regardless of State Department negotiations. “There was no concession regarding any Syrian principles for having an American ambassador,” the information ministry official said, speaking from Damascus. “We would not accept any interfering in the Syrian sovereignty and the Syrian right to have independent foreign relationships,” said the official, referring to Syria’s military alliance with Iran.

The picture emerging from Syria seems to jibe with a Washington Post column in July by Jim Hoagland, who quoted diplomatic sources as stating that White House decision makers had unilaterally determined the U.S. would send an ambassador to Syria.

The announcement of the selection of Ford Wednesday – which provided Damascus a major prize – took State Department officials by surprise, according to Hoagland.

A U.S. official who spoke to WND last week confirmed a working group within the State Department was in the process of negotiating concessions from Syria as part of the appointment processe.

The U.S. official told WND the White House had hastily leaked the news of an ambassador, thus relieving Damascus of any need to negotiate or reciprocate with any concession.

  117. Co-Author of Original Cloward-Piven Strategy Calls For Mass Protests, Disruptions
    —Ace

Frances Fox Piven doesn’t seem to advance a sneaky new strategy here as she did so long ago. Mostly it’s just calling for typical leftist roil. But Ron Radosh went behind the firewall at The Nation to read her new aggrievements, and here’s what she’d like to see:

What is needed, she suggests, are “mass protests” that might influence Obama and press “him hard from his base.” To do that, however, she notes that they have to get past the many obstructions to mobilize the unemployed. This is especially the case that the unions today “do little for their unemployed,” who don’t pay dues and “are likely to be malcontents.”
Piven argues that their task is harder than it was in the past, because the unemployed are diverse, are not in one area of the country and have no common institutional setting. It is hard to bring people together, even in welfare and unemployment centers, she complains, since often administrators try to avoid long lines and crowded waiting areas, where organizers could proselytize and inflame the dissatisfied applicants.

But most important, she writes, “they have to develop a proud and angry identity and a set of claims that go with that identity. They have to go from being hurt and ashamed to being angry and indignant (Radosh’s emphasis) …Losing a job is bruising; even when many other people are out of work, most people are still working. So, a kind of psychological transformation has to take place; the out-of-work have to stop blaming themselves for their hard times and turn their anger on the bosses, the bureaucrats or the politicians who are in fact responsible.”

They also need targets, which she sees as “the most difficult of the strategy problems.” Since she knows well that “local and state governments are strapped for funds,” the poor and the unemployed must demand “federal action.” It is, in other words, another “fiscal crisis of the state” that, as in the past, can be used to advance the radical goal. There first have to be local protests that have to “accumulate and spread,” then “become more disruptive” (Radosh’s emphasis) in order to pressure our national political leaders. What does Piven mean when she calls for disruption? She is clear and up front about her intent:

An effective movement of the unemployed will have to look something like the strikes and riots that have spread across Greece in response to the austerity measures forced on the Greek government by the European Union, or like the student protests that recently spread with lightning speed across England in response to the prospect of greatly increased school fees. (Radosh’s emphasis)
What she is calling for is nothing less than the chaos and violence engulfing Europe. Disgruntled leftist unionists, students who expect an education without cost, and citizens of social-democratic states cannot accept that the old terms of the social contract they thought would last forever have worn out their welcome. The European welfare-state governments can no longer function with the kind of social programs that now far exceed their nation’s budgets and hence are moving their countries to the precipice of total collapse.

It’s going to be a rocky two years. They won’t quit fighting until they know, really know in their bones, they’ve been beaten, and they’re pretty oblivious as a general matter, so it’s going to take a serious pounding to get through.

    Will Brown be perfect?
    **************
Was he ever? I don’t believe he was ever even “good”
    ———-
Yea, I know how you feel and we will just have to disagree. I will take my chances with Brown any day over Meg Whitman.

  120. “Bill Clinton, Hillary helped Braun in 1998 Senate race: Braun wants Clinton to stay out of 2011 Chicago mayoral”

    I remember this in 1998.

The damn undemocratic party can go down the toilet for all I care, they are pure scum at this point. Bill and Hillary are way too good to preserve this disgusting organization, let it go down the toilet and flush it!

  121. Who died and made Barry, KING? Ugh, he’s sure on the gravy train with his MO.

President and family on multi-million dollar Christmas vacation in Hawaii

President Obama and his family are enjoying a delightful Christmas vacation with friends and family in the chief executive’s home state of Hawaii.

Nobody questions a president’s right or need to take take away from the White House, but an investigation by Hawaii Reporter has turned up some eye-opening information about the costs and other aspects of the Obama get-away.

Just consider these estimates on part of the costs of the latest Obama Hawaii trip:

    * Mrs. Obama’s early flight to Hawaii: $63,000 (White House Dossier)

    * Obama’s round trip flight to Hawaii: $1 million (GAO estimates)

    * Housing in beachfront homes for Secret Service and Seals in Kailua ($1,200 a day for 14 days): $16,800

    * Costs for White House staff staying at Moana Hotel: $134,400 ($400 per day for 24 staff) – excluding meals and other room costs

    * Police overtime: $250,000 (2009 costs reported by Honolulu Police Department)

    * Ambulance: $10,000 (City Spokesperson)

    TOTAL COST: $1,474,200

But that $1.47 million figure leaves out a number of signficant costs that simply could not be calculated by Hawaii Reporter:

    * Rental of office building in Kailua on canal

    * Security upgrades and additional phone lines.

    * Costs for car rentals and fuel for White House staff staying at Moana Hotel (Secret Service imports most of the cars used here to escort the president).

    * Surveillance before the president arrives.

    * Travel costs for Secret Service and White House staff traveling ahead of the President.

White House spokesmen insist Obama’s vacation expenses are in line with those of previous presidents, which may well be true, but, since the government refuses to disclose many important details about any presidential journey, nobody can know for sure.

There appear to be reasons to suspect the Obamas’ trip could have been done for less, according to Hawaii Reporter.

“They could have chosen a less expensive and more secure place to stay such as a beachfront home on the Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station – just a two-minute drive away from the Kailuana Place property where they are now,” according to Hawaii Reporter.

“The president visits the military base daily to workout, bowl with his kids or enjoy the more private beach there. He also could have stayed at a home 15 minutes away on the beach fronting Bellows Air Force Base as President Bill Clinton did.”

But Obama and friends opted instead to secure use of three luxury beachfront places, including the “Winter White House” – or Kailua home that the president rents two weeks a year.

That facility, Hawaii Reporter, noted, normally rents for an estimated $3,500 a day or $75,000 a month, according to the web site Gadling.com.

The latter describes the place as a “7,000 square foot home [that] features 5 bedrooms, 5 ½ bathrooms, a media room with surround sound, a kitchen suited for a master chef, a dining room and great room, a secluded lagoon-style pool with tropical waterfalls and a lavish island spa. The ocean lanai and garden lanai showcase ornate landscaping and stunning views of Kailua Bay and Mount Olomana.”

  122. I remember the Bushes and the Clintons always stayed at Camp David during the Christmas holidays so that the staff would be able to spend their holidays with their families as well.

  123. Every time you see the word reform attached to a piece of legislation, whether it be campaign finance reform, health reform, financial reform, etc. once you get past the title you will find the real purpose of the bill, and more important the effect, is to advantage big business over the rights of the American People.

    ====================

Exactly right. Another example, from 2005: “Consumer Protection and Bankruptcy Reform”.

  124. Oh, and of course this year ‘reform’ of the Dem primaries, ie fewer Superdelegates (and more caucuses? and more delegates from black districts?).

  125. ““Vietnam was not particularly relevant to him, he told Bob Woodward in “Obama’s Wars.” He was 13 in 1975, he said, when South Vietnam fell.”

This is the same guy who said his experience as a 10-year old in Indonesia qualifies him to guide U.S. foreign policy.

  126. Yet when he was born, his mother may not have tried to get his birth listed in the papers so that one day little Barry could be president, but maybe simply so that he could be deemed a citizen.

    =======================

But for citizenship, all that’s necessary is his mother being a citizen. It’s for being president that he needs to be a ‘natural born’ citizen.

  127. You don’t spend all of that money for nothing.

    ======================

I would like to see a cite that gives some detail about just how much money he has spent on lawyers fighting these suits. And was it tax money?

Ooh, I hope the GOP House will investigate that!

    _______________

You know, some people think it is as simple as the fact that he is older than he says. They believe he was probably born before 1959 when Hawii became a US State. If he were three years older, he would have been born as a citizen of Hawaii and would have attained US citizenship, but would not be a naturalized citizen and therefore he would not fit within the definition of natural born and would not be eligible to run for president. That would bring into question who his mother was because she would have been awfully young to be a mother, unless they fictionalized her age as well.

  129. Obie refusing to comply with/fighting requests to produce a birth certificate was the first indication that he did not care about the ‘will of the people’. To my mind, nothing else about the controversy need be discussed. Let’s face it; with all his money/influence, he could easily have had a false document manufactured to satisfy the masses.

  130. Obama simply cannot be trusted. Obama cannot be trusted ON ANY ISSUE. Obama cannot be trusted by his friends. Obama cannot be trusted by his enemies. Obama cannot be trusted.

    Think on that
…as you listen to and watch President Obama in the first 30 seconds of the video linked directly below.

On January 1st, O’s healthcare system regulations going around the decision of the Senate in Fall of 2009, will go into effect. Are we being herded into a 21st century version of policy alike to what 1930s Germany called “’life unworthy of life”?

  131. In the November 2008 elections an initiative passed in Washington State legalizing assisted suicide. It was backed by a group called Compassion and Choices which was in a coalition of groups led by the Death With Dignity National Center. This group received grants directly from the Open Society Institute of George Soros, who credits his mother’s membership in the Hemlock Society with his own sponsorship of Hitler’s genocide medical policy.

Soros should demonstrate how to die. He should offer himself as proof. Than we can mourn his not having done it earlier.

  132. Project on Death in America – George Soros

How would Soros’s Project rapidly spread a culture of death, as opposed to, say, optimism?

George Soros on November 30, 1994, For the Alexander Ming Fisher Lecture Series at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center:

The first major program is to establish a number of faculty scholarships. We hope to identify outstanding faculty and clinicians who are committed to the Project’s goals and to support them in their work of developing new models for the care of the dying and new approaches to the education of health professionals about the care of dying patients and their families. The scholars … will become the academic leaders on this issue, the role models, and mentors to future generations of health professionals…. In three years we will have a leader and role model in place in one-fourth of the country’s medical schools.

The Soros Project on Death in America (PDIA) immediately took the lead in a partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson foundation and others to promote euthanasia, assisted suicide, doping in place of curing, etc. As the Project itself explained,

In 1995 the PDIA joined forces with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Nathan Cummings Foundation, the Rockefeller Family Office, and the Commonwealth Fund to form Grantmakers Concerned with Care at the End of Life.

Nine years after the Project’s startup, the Boston Globe reported (Nov. 9, 2003) the results:

The Project on Death in America, financed by billionaire George Soros and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, poured more than $200 million over the last decade into end-of-life programs and research.

A typical public policy discussion of this Soros-led enterprise was the March 12, 1996 conference of the “Last Act” organization, in Arlington, Virginia, with three Soros-paid speakers, Kathleen Foley, Michelle Ervin, and Barbara Koenig. The meeting was designed around strategy proposals by the founder of the Hastings Center, Daniel Callahan, including this gem:

Establish working relationships with educators in secondary school systems, particularly those who teach family life or health, aimed at making the vocabulary of death and dying more natural.

The example used was the Soros-funded “Grief at School Program.”

Today, Peter Orszag, Obama administration Director of the Congressional Budget Office, and his entourage are intimately attached to the same Hastings Center for euthanasia action.

  133. Bioethics Past and Present Recounted as Center Celebrates Co-Founder Dan Callahan

Friends and family of Hastings Center co-founder Dan Callahan gathered on December 2 in New York City to observe his 80th birthday. Thomas H. Murray, president of the Center, shared his reminiscences in his introduction, and those unable to attend are invited to share online. Callahan, president emeritus of Hastings, is also the co-director of the Yale-Hastings Program in Ethics and Health Policy. His latest book is Taming the Beloved Beast: Why Medical Technology Costs Are Destroying Our Health Care System.

I’d like to know if medical technology costs are seen to be destroying the health care system of, say, France. And if it would be the case if France were to reclaim her sovereignty from the EU and legislate Glass-Steagall separation of necessary banking functions from financier speculation, looting and money laundering operations. I resent allowing totally unnecessary financial constraints imposed by Wall Street, London and offshore financial operations forcing the form of medical ethics.

The person who commented that the only issue important here is Obama’s disregard for the American People is correct and reminds me of a picture I saw of Obama in the White House, behind him there is a picture of the Statue of Liberty hanging on the wall. The picture, not the frame, is kind of skewed and looks to be taken out of a plane window. I knew that that picture was taken from the window of Air Force 1 when it buzzed the Statue of Liberty and frightened NY’ers half to death. That picture was put there on purpose to give us all the finger. There are so many instances of Obama giving us the finger.

Yet when he was born, his mother may not have tried to get his birth listed in the papers so that one day little Barry could be president, but maybe simply so that he could be deemed a citizen.
    ————–

Grandma would have thought of this and made sure he could be counted as an American Citizen, epically if Stanly was in Kenya when Obama was born (utube of Stanly’s high school friend above). In the utube video “Obama’s Grandma” her answer to who are you going to vote for she says Obama – how odd, of all the names/terms she could have used.

So I have questions and I am and American Citizen and beyond that don’t care what you label me.

printer-friendly It comes down to these. Thanks to extensive rounds of voting, we have our Final Four of Obamateurisms this year, and they’re all doozies. Will it be Barack Obama’s famous finger-wag at the Supreme Court during the State of the Union speech on national television, in which Obama managed to prove he didn’t understand the case nor the ruling? Making himself into the arbiter of income caps? Misquoting something as basic as the Declaration of Independence — multiple times? Or bailing out on his own press conference, leaving Bill Clinton to handle it, in order to attend a Christmas party?
I don’t envy you this choice. I’d help you make it, but I have to get ready for a New Year’s Eve party, and the First Mate would get angry with me if I left her holding the bag. Tomorrow, on New Year’s Day, I’ll review the poll results and announce the 2010 OOTY!
    ————————–
Leaving Bill at the podium won the vote hands down. Why? Simple. It is a microcosm of the Obama presidency. See a problem, make a speech, then cut and run in the other direction. So many problems, so many golf course, so little time, eat dessert first his his motto. Which is fine and well except for the fact that whenever this happens, Tapper and half the Washington Press corp check into the Emergency Room of George Washington Hospital with severe cases of whiplash of the nose. You see, they had their collective noses so far up his ass that when he “pivoted” (their euphemism for regnigged) they suffered subluxation of the nose. Fortunately, with a little legal pain killer they are back again ready for action, poised to speak truth to power and to give voters both sides of the story.

  144. Never before in all our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hatred for me, and I welcome their hatred.
    – FDR in his final major campaign speech, Madison Square Garden, Oct. 31, 1936.

He won (in a prior term), overcoming great challenges and surviving an assassination attempt. Hillary didn’t win. Hillary is said to have called herself an early 20th century Progressive. McKinley, by my reckoning, the first of those progressives, was assassinated.

    FDR in the above speech,

For twelve years, this Nation was afflicted with hear-nothing, see-nothing, do-nothing Government. The Nation looked to Government, but the Government looked away. Nine mocking years with the golden calf and three long years of the scourge! Nine crazy years at the ticker and three long years in the breadlines! Nine mad years of mirage and three long years of despair! Powerful influences strive today to restore that kind of government, with its doctrine that that Government is best which is most indifferent.

For nearly four years, you have had an Administration which instead of twirling its thumbs has rolled up its sleeves. We will keep our sleeves rolled up.

We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace—business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering. They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.

    FDR stated proudly,

Never before in all our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hatred for me—and I welcome their hatred.

  147. What kind of monkey wrench could we throw into the works if we convinced a majority in every congressional district of Americans to join together, focus on one issue, to randomly choose someone from their ranks and vote that person into the House of Representatives on election day. Could we save America in one election? What issue would it be ?

  148. the birth certificate issue, first it was never released, only the Certificate of Live Birth was released, which in many hospitals do not require that you were born in that hospital, except that you were born alive, i.e “Live Birth”

Second point, its a damn piece of paper, heck, my grandniece recently started school, and the school required her parents to show the birth certificate before she could enroll.

To me, its another middle finger to America and more importantly to the US military, Waffles can lay this to rest, yet he chooses to spend millions hiding it, 2 colonels in the military are now in jail because they refuse orders because of this.

To me, its more than the birth certificate, hell, there are millions of naturalized citizens who are more patriotic than Waffles, but the fact he cannot even release such a simple document is a slap in the face of this country or in his case its a middle finger to the country, which is so talented at giving.

  149. Union thugs deliberately did it.

2 people died as a result of unplowed streets…a newborn baby and a 75 yr old woman. If this was deliberate, the people resonsible should be sued, fired and in jail.

  150. Question: can people who lack humility be humbled? In a word–no. Nonetheless, I like what Paul has to say. If the American People treat big media as a laughing stock, advancing its own interests, constantly distorting the truth, then they have a better than even chance of liberating themselves from its corrupting influence. It is strictly a tool of the elites. Gramsci got that one right. Not so Paul and people like him who speak the truth. It is critical mass of big media I am referring to.
    ————————

The Year That Humbled the DC Establishment
    By David Paul Kuhn

The media establishment that hyped this Democratic president but refused to be humbled with him. Pundits’ premises so fundamentally disproved. The conservative collapse that was not. The so-told emerging liberal era that was not. The Democratic leaders who bought the hype, acting on the masochistic premise that if big liberal things were done, the American mind’s apprehension to big liberal things could be undone. The Republican generals saved by conservative foot soldiers. A liberal opposition that, all over again, undid itself in Pyrrhic victory. It was a year of conventional irony.

But there was a particular irony to the chasm between the excessive rhetoric that greeted this president and the electoral rebuke that closed the year. These were, nearly, the best of liberal times. The most progressive legislation passed since at least the Beatles broke up. But it was also the worst of liberal times. Liberalism’s most historic midterm defeat since the radio broadcast of Orson Welles’ adaptation of “War of the Worlds.”

This year in politics witnessed the center-right nation righting itself. And with it came the left’s recurring reality check: American liberalism’s success is often its undoing.

So we relived the narrative arc of the New Deal and the Great Society, only more rapidly, with a lower apex and a swifter fall. One more liberal foundation sundered.

We can best understand this collapse in the context of 2008, and the humility it should have brought to our political class. Recall those heady liberal days. Politico’s post-election analysis: “The Obama Revolution.” Time magazine headlined an article soon after, “The New Liberal Order,” declaring “Obama’s majority is at least as cohesive as Reagan’s or F.D.R.’s.” The New Republic headline one week later: “America the Liberal. The Democratic majority: It emerged!” By March 2009, liberals’ premiere demographer–premiere partly because his analysis is so dependably pleasing to liberals–authored a lengthy report on the “New Progressive America.” The liberal affirmations continued into September. The New York Times book review editor published his own title, “The Death of Conservatism.”

How quickly conservatism rose from its rumored demise. It was entirely foreseeable. The president was said to have changed the electoral map, though it was clear even then that he visibly had not. Demographic math was said to sum to Democratic destiny, despite history’s warnings. It was forgotten that political coalitions are held together by more than the sum of their parts.

The “professional left” blames its undoing on the bad economy. This is a convenient culprit. If the environment is at fault then liberals’ bear none. But awful economies do not dictate midterm collapses. Franklin Roosevelt proved that in 1934, when Democrats retained power despite failing, by that point, to lower the unemployment rate.

Some reporters still struggle to get their head around the public’s refusal to get behind Democrats’ major legislation. Politics Daily’s “Top 12 Political Surprises of 2010” included this telling thread: “The biggest mystery of 2010 may be Democrats’ failure to explain and sell their landmark health law, and the public’s sustained resistance to it despite the popularity of many of its components.”

The mystery is why it’s still such a mystery. About 85 percent of Americans had healthcare. Polls showed Americans were largely pleased with the status of that care. The one consensus complaint was cost. But Democrats sought to address everything but cost.

Democrats’ top priority was healthcare when the nation’s top priority was the economic crisis. And, oh yes, there was also the nation’s enduring and foreseeable tension with big government and the mommy-daddy party divide that explains it. It’s no accident that the real dark horse of the coming 2012 election is the straight-shooting New Jersey governor, who exudes tough love (or to critics, no love).

That Chris Christie is the talk of conservative circles. That Indiana’s wonkish governor Mitch Daniels, like Christie, is a more viable presidential candidate than establishment men like Newt Gingrich or Haley Barbour, also reminds us that the Grand Old Party owes its new life to those that have not made a livelihood by attempting to manage it.

The media went from underestimating the tea party movement in 2009 to obsessing over it in 2010. Yet the establishment press still undervalued this movement’s appeal. A New York Times-CBS poll reported last spring that one-fifth of Americans identify themselves as tea party supporters. But Election Day exit polls found that two-fifths of voters considered themselves “supporters” of the movement.

The Republican establishment rode that tiger to the ballot box. Tea party activists rallied around deficit issues. And Republicans found religion because of it. The GOP offered a two-year sermon to Democrats on spending. But most Republicans quickly dispensed with those concerns by December, backing a tax-deal that added more to the debt than the stimulus bill. How the sanctimonious thrive in politics.

Several tea party favorites, Republican Senators Tom Coburn and Jim Demint, did oppose the deal. The GOP establishment has already learned that this tiger will not tame so easily. The tea party’s bite, among allies, will likely be worse next year.

So we are left with a liberal establishment that rode its hubris right out of town, a conservative establishment that rode back into town despite itself and a media establishment that was wrong about both directions. This is one story of our year in politics. And the moral matches the moral of our time. The political establishment often does not know best. Neither do the pundits that analyze it. And the smartest guy in the room might just be you.

I am so tempted to write Tapper and ask him if this is true.

I think more and more millions of Americans have contempt for the lame “MSM” as much as they do for the radical lunatic demonrats.

  155. Mrs. Smith, Thank you for the thank you. 🙂 Yes, Obama seems to be pushing a lot of abuse-friendly legislation.

pm317, I was just reading about FDR’s visit to Hawaii before I read your note about O’bummer’s visit. Quite the contrast. Franklin Delano Roosevelt visited July 24-28, 1934, the first President to do so. http://www.elks616.org/d/d/3035.html

  156. Tim, before you do so, let me be perfectly clear that I made that up. I did so to illustrate two points:

    1. first, that the Washington Press corp is really nothing more than a bunch of Obama groupies. Like the sky if falling in, and up pops Ann Compton, since she has been given the Chuck Todd chair in the front row for being the biggest brown nose since Uriah Heep*–chuck is out on pregnancy leave, whereupon, airhead Ann looks past the exigencies of the moment and asks Obama does being black made it ah er more difficult to do your job. Obama loved the question, and it allowed him to pontificate to his adoring groupies. Not to be outdone, Tapper, who in one of his less restrained moments compared Hillary to Fatal Attraction, and indulged in a wonderful moment of political correctness threw a hissy fit when a congressman used the word boy in conjunction with Obama because he saw potential racial overtones, looks lovingly at Obama and purrs Merry Christmas Mr President. Naw, I will gladly give him the Uriah Heep Award for Non Jouranlism and gun control.

(Note: Uriah Heep is a fictional character created by Charles Dickens in his novel David Copperfield.
The character is notable for his cloying humility, obsequiousness, and insincerity, making frequent references to his own “‘umbleness”. His name has become synonymous with being a yes man.)

    2. Second, I wanted to remind everyone of what Axelrod said in response to a question by Bob Sheiffer on whether he had any proof that the other party was soliciting foreign contributions as he publicly alleged, which if true would be a crime. Instead of answering yes or no, he turned the tables on Sheiffer and said do you have any proof they are not? Sheiffer laughed in his face and asked him is that the best you can do. Thereafter the incident was forgotten, except for people like me. The reason why this statement by Axelrod is important is because it reveals that he is a propagandist with a callous disregard for the truth, and he is the chief spokesman for Obama. But even more than that, it proves that he is willing to use the same rhetorical ploys we saw in Goebbels, to cover up what he is doing. It is not unlike the justice system in a totalitarian state where the state puts the burden of proof on the individual to prove he is innocent. It a word this was a glimpse of the true Orwellian nature of this Administration and a harbinger of what it intends to do.

  157. they (Nazis) were, many think, the first Keynesians, adopting the strategy even before Keynes had come up with it
    ———–

    Heh.

March ’09 Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on the global implications of the financial crisis,

    Soros:
“The crisis is very serious. This is a genuine collapse of the financial system not seen since the 1930s. And the lessons of the 1930s are summed up in [Fascist] John Maynard Keynes 1936 book, The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money.”

Keynes had said he preferred to have his book first published in Germany, because it would have a better reception and be more applicable in Nazi Germany than in a democratic country. The introduction to the first German edition of the General Theory was written by Hjalmar Schacht, Hitler’s central banker, a very nasty character.

Their strategy is simply the continuation of imperial monetarism, usury and looting; maintaining the illusion that value resides in money. Value resides in production and the creation of new platforms of technology through human creativity. Manicured piss-ant bastards.

  158. Ten Political Flash Points for 2011

Expect fights over veto power, the debt ceiling, budget cuts, transparency, and the endangered career of Eric Holder. Ready?

    December 30, 2010 – by Richard Pollock

Next year, expect the 112th Congress and the Obama White House to be locked in battles over spending rollbacks, budget limits, the deficit ceiling, entitlements, monetary policy, and the “de-funding” of federal programs. Expect a year of oversight hearings with striking revelations, subpoenas, and dramatic confrontations with the White House. The new incoming Tea Party class in the House and Senate understand they can claim a mandate from the November elections, and in the next year, Washington’s political ground zero will be over money.

Here are ten flash points to expect in 2011:

    Obama Governs by Executive Power

Having lost large majorities in both houses of Congress, expect Obama to deploy his considerable executive powers. A glimpse of what to expect occurred near Christmas as the administration unilaterally issued three new regulatory rulings governing the Internet, greenhouse emissions, and federal wilderness areas. These actions taken by the Federal Communications Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Interior Department exhibited raw regulatory power.

The FCC action defied a federal court. The EPA greenhouse ruling came even as the Senate voted last June to deny the agency power to issue rules over climate change. The Interior Department administratively reversed Bush-era rules on limiting wilderness protection.

This is exactly the strategy progressive activists want the president to pursue.

In November, following widespread Democratic election losses, John Podesta — President Clinton’s chief of staff and the president of the leftist Center for American Progress — released a 54-page post-election blueprint that urged Obama to use his executive powers to bypass Congress to continue their policy changes. Recalling his days in the Clinton White House, Podesta wrote in his introduction to the CAP report:

After his party lost control of Congress in 1994, President Clinton used executive authority and convening power to make significant progressive change. … This administration has a similar opportunity to use available executive authorities while also working with Congress where possible.

    Congressional Challenges to Executive Rulings

Expect Congress to reply to the president’s use of executive power by invoking the 1996 Congressional Review Act. This act allows the Senate and House to nullify Obama administrative actions by passing resolutions of disapproval. The procedure permits them to countermand specific department rules and regulations.

When the FCC voted to regulate the Internet, Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI) and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) announced they would challenge it, invoking the CRA. The CRA can be passed with a simple 51-vote majority in the Senate; it does not require 60 votes.

    The War on Federal Spending

Expect Republicans, joined by a few Democrat deficit hawks, to declare war on all federal spending. The conflict will culminate on March 4 when the congressional temporary spending resolution expires and Congress must pass a new federal budget for the entire government. In the House, watch Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), and in the Senate, Dr. Tom Coburn (R-OK).

Rep. Ryan is the chief author of the new Republican budget. Ryan’s new austere budget is expected to roll back spending to at least 2008 levels. Republicans also vow tough spending cuts to prevent America from becoming the next Greece. Last weekend on Fox News, Senator Coburn warned that the nation will face “apocalyptic pain” if it fails to dramatically curtail spending:

I think within 3-4 years, if we have not done the critical changes that we have to make, I think the confidence in our economy and our currency will be undermined significantly. And that may scare some folks — it’s intended to.

Entitlements also will be on the chopping block, as the presidential deficit commission released a report full of proposed cuts — including the once sacred entitlement programs of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

    Will Obama Govern by Veto?

As the president faces unpalatable legislation reaching his desk, there is the distinct possibility he will invoke his power to veto. The use of the veto has dwindled over the years — George W. Bush issued only eleven during his two terms. In contrast, Democrats who have faced hostile Congresses have governed heavily with the veto: Franklin D. Roosevelt invoked it 635 times, and Harry Truman 250.

What is attractive to the White House is that a veto override will force Senate Republicans to come up with 67 votes. Might Obama use the veto if besieged by unwanted legislation? Expect a classic and passionate constitutional confrontation.

    Congress Defunds Obama Programs

One of the least reported last acts of the lame duck session was a vote to forbid spending to move enemy combatants from Guantanamo Bay — dealing a final blow to the president’s effort to close down the facility or to try terrorists in civilian courts.

Defunding is a powerful weapon that Congress can use to stop unpopular programs. Early next year expect ObamaCare defunding to begin to work its way through the House. Look for Congress to try to defund other unpopular programs, such as EPA “cap and trade” regulations, Medicare rulings, and even the administration’s policy seeking to ban the sale of incandescent light bulbs.

The Debt Ceiling and a Government Shutdown

Federal spending continues to outpace government revenue by more than a trillion dollars a year.

Today the legal debt ceiling is $14 trillion, which is expected to be exceeded in the first half of 2011. House Republicans vow to repeal the “Gephardt Rule” that allows the House to raise the debt limit automatically without a specific vote of approval. If the Republicans prevail, there will be an up-and-down vote on raising the debt ceiling. The run-up to the vote is likely to intensify negotiations with the White House to use the debt ceiling as leverage to compel lower federal spending. If the debt ceiling is not passed, government programs will lack funds to operate.

Medicare, Social Security, even our military could be at a standstill. Obama and the Democrats will dare the Republicans to vote down the debt ceiling. It will be instructive to see who blinks first.

Ron Paul Challenges the Federal Reserve

Outspoken libertarian Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX), a long-time critic of the Federal Reserve Board, will become the new chairman of the House Subcommittee of Domestic Monetary Policy — which has congressional oversight of the Fed. Paul plans to challenge the central bank’s policy of secrecy by holding open hearings on the institution and its policies. He also will investigate the Fed’s bank examinations and its use of its emergency authority and audits. The new chairman also is expected to denounce the current Fed policy of “monetary easing,” which Paul worries will lead to hyper-inflation — a concern expressed by many economists.

    Transparency in Government

Secrecy in the executive branch has been a bipartisan sport ever since the growth of big government. Expect a House full-frontal attack on government secrecy and on the Obama administration’s lack of transparency.

The president is vulnerable, as his first official presidential act was to issue an executive order promising an “unprecedented level of openness in government.”

Expect dramatic oversight hearings, particularly from the powerful House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform led by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA). Issa and his allies are expected to seek new measures to force transparency in governmental actions and decision-making. Look for numerous House subpoenas of Obama administration records and the convening of many oversight hearings.

    Bailouts of Bankrupt Democratic States

California’s soon-to-be Governor Jerry Brown has not spelled out exactly how he intends to bail out California from its record $28 billion budget gap. But he may ask President Obama to bail out the state, a plea once issued by his predecessor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Other Democrat state governors from electorally rich New York and Illinois will be watching to see if they too can appeal to Washington for cash.

Expect the Republican House and vulnerable deficit hawk Democrats to reject any bailout of the states. Expect big state employee unions to lobby for it. And look to see it become a major issue in the 2012 presidential race.

More Scrutiny of Attorney General Holder

Expect the new House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith to aggressively subpoena the Department of Justice for internal documents on many of the controversial policies pursued by Attorney General Eric Holder. Holder perhaps is the weakest Obama administration member, and may be the first to resign.

He has come under fire from the left and right for his anti-terror policies. These include his hiring of attorneys who once defended terrorists, his inability to close Guantanamo Bay, the loss of his first anti-terror trial in New York, and his decision to try September 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in a civilian court. The House and Senate also are expected to continue their probes into the Justice Department’s dismissal of the 2008 voting rights violations by the New Black Panther Party. Late this year the U.S. Civil Rights Commission released a blistering report on the department’s handling of the case, charging Holder with politicizing its civil rights deliberations. The Department’s inspector general also is expected to release a report about whether political considerations led to the dismissal. Central to the case is whether the Obama Justice Department was treating civil rights cases in racially biased ways, favoring minorities over whites. If Holder resigns, expect Republicans to use confirmation hearings as a forum to further probe the Department’s controversial decisions.

    Expect a wild year.

  159. Does a “bad ring to it” change what the definition of Socialism IS?

    =================

Socialism is stuff like Social Security, Medicare, public roads, public schools, etc etc.

You can say, “The US has X amount of socialism.” Or, “A country is called ‘socialist’ when it has X amount of socialism.” We currently say other countries are socialist but the US is not by setting an arbitrary middle point. Which moves over the decades.

  160. WHERE’S THE 6 MILLION DOLLARS MICHELLE………

The Obama’s Dance Company to Get Strict Government Oversight
    by Dan Riehl

There’s something curiously missing from this story on Chicago’s Mantu Dance Company. It may be the only time the company has made big news without a mention of Barack and Michelle Obama in years.

One can only imagine the headlines were it so closely linked to a Republican President.

Illinois officials are taking a closer look at a nonprofit dance company that was awarded a $4.5 million state grant in 2003 for a planned performing arts center on the South Side that has yet to begin construction.

Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity spokeswoman Marcelyn Love, whose department hands out millions in grant money every year to arts and culture organizations, said the Muntu Dance Theater Co. of Chicago will be placed on “strict oversight” as they move forward with long-delayed plansto build an arts center at 47th Street and Greenwood Avenue in the city’s Kenwood neighborhood.

At issue is a 6 million dollar, if not more, vacant lot in Chicago.

A circular concrete barrier behind a tattered chain-link fence at the corner of 47th Street and Greenwood Avenue in the Kenwood neighborhood is all there is to show for once-ambitious plans to remake a struggling business corridor into a hub for African-American arts and culture.

Eight years ago, the nonprofit Muntu Dance Theatre secured more than $6 million in city and state grants, rights to the two-acre property for $1, and cash donations from the likes of ComEd and Boeing to build a $15 million performing arts center.

At the time, the project came with the blessings of local leaderswho hoped to not only turn around the fortunes of an area littered with liquor stores and boarded-up buildings, but help restore a piece of Bronzeville’s historic luster.

It’s interesting to note that Michelle Obama appears to now have enough time to plan school lunches for every child in America, yet, despite sitting on Mantu’s board for years didn’t seem to be able to find time to provide the least bit of oversight that may have prevented this problem. And that’s not all.

First Lady Michelle Obama served on Muntu Dance Theater of Chicago’s board prior to leaving the windy city.

Based upon financial disclosures in 2006, it was one of only four entities to which the Obamas gave money – five-thousand dollars to be exact. One has to wonder just how instrumental were the Obama’s in assisting the dance company in raising so much cash that seems to have been so poorly applied. That’s assuming it hasn’t simply disappeared, of course.

She even chaired their anniversary gala in 2007. But then, what’s $15 million dollars and a vacant lot in Chicago when one is busy tending the White House garden, or attempting to dictate what every American school child can, or can not eat? One can only imagine the play this story would have gotten had it been a Texas dance company linked so closely to George and Laura Bush.

your explanations are off the wall.

another example of your confusion is thinking and writing Triangulation = Third Way

  163. I’d like to know if medical technology costs are seen to be destroying the health care system of, say, France.

    =================

Good point. But you see, France gets all their technology from the Marshall Plan.

  164. wbboei — got it.

Of course wouldn’t surprise me that most the lame media who asked him “what is the most enchanting moment of your presidency?” did serenade this fool.

  167. Sorry, I just have to post this:

Kate Couric thinks Americans don’t know enough about Muslims, so a ‘Muslim version of The Cosby Show’ would make everyone more accepting of Islam.

Do you think she envisions the new “Bill” burying one of his daughters up to her neck and having all the neighbor “men” over for the stoning? Get stoned in the man cave. Who needs football.

Or maybe beheading the wife, shooting the daughters?

You know, maybe I could respect muslim “men” a little if they abided by our laws after they abide by their sharia laws. That would mean, they’d swallow their cowardice and not scamper off to where ever they go to hide, but come forward, admit what they have done and then say say: “now I will abide by the laws of my chosen country and face murder charges”. Don’t hold your breath till these “honorable men” do that. Or for that matter, until anyone in their community shuts the escape hatch in their face like they would the 15 year old daughter or innocent wife trying to get to safety.

  168. OK- Here it is- From the horse standing nearest to Webster Tarpley from the horses mouth so to speak, from Bruce Marshall. (who btw is known to Pumas)

    Dear xxx,

I hope that you are doing well or rather excellent!

Now for your question…and while Webster may want to speak for himself, I am sure I have the leeway to say this-

Webster is decidedly a modern representative of the Franklin-Hamiltonian Federalist patriots whose political economic philosophy was later termed in the mid 19th century through economist Fredrich List and Henry C. Carey as the American School System of Political-Economy.

Our problems today stem from the fact that the American System of Economics is no longer practiced nor even known by those people who should know better. Abraham Lincoln Lincoln and FDR are recognized as defenders of the American System as was JFK.

Today what we have is fascist of both the left and right camps controlling power and using a fake dialectic to stay in power. Obama as Web first identified is a nihilistic fascist socialist serving socialism for Wall Street while he destroys the true economic capabilities of the the nation.

On the other side we have the Austrian School fascists, from New Gingrich to Rand Paul all calling, along with Obama for massive cuts to further the fallacy of a balanced budget, eager to kill people to get there.

Remember that the Founding Fathers did not fight to install the “Austrian School” into power, but where in fact enemies of Adam Smith and his free trade capitalism, which is not what the American Revolution was about, but to stop this British poison through the creation of a nation that’s mission is to promote the general welfare.

Remember also that Marxism was created to attack the American System, to which Marx stole the idea of the labor theory of value from Alexander Hamilton! Marx was a creation of the British system of monetarist free trade, our present enemy.

Today Webster is calling for a Wall Street Transfer Tax, the Nationalization of the Federal Reserve, shutting down the Zombie banks, instituting measures to get America working again through by the creation of credit not for Wall Street gambling, but for long term infrastructure projects from power, rail, water, etc…

That is a brief, brief but the history is important to understand…

    Have a great new year.

    Bruce

  169. jesweezy,

If you read the above communique I posted @ 2:24pm, nowhere is it intimated or stated Tarpley is a Socialist. I know both of the gentleman personally and have spoken to them at length on the tele with both of them over the years.

Their values are from old school America-and the Constitution, just like most of us here who revere and fight to protect those values whenever we can..

I hope you are satisfied hearing from Bruce, the co-writer of many of Tarpley’s books. If you are still interested in Tarpley’s opinion of the 9/11 attack, I would be more than happy to provide the info to you where the book can be purchased.
