The Fruits Of Corruption – Nixon Obama Press Conference As Dimocrats Howl About Obama’s New Deal

It was a press conference only Richard Nixon could fully appreciate. Obama howled because he is not worshiped. Obama unwittingly damned himself with Nixon-style self revelations. David Axelrod and Robert Gibbs sat at the sidelines completely engaged in deep stares into notepads and Blackberries doing their absolute best to ignore the Frankenstein monster at the podium.

On Capitol Hill and in the Obama Hopium websites rage at the realization that the backstabber has now stabbed them in the back. Those that baked the Frankenstein monster gasped as the monster jutted his jaw, stretched out his arms, bared his stitched lips, and attacked them.

The Frankenstein monster is loose on the land. Their Frankenstein monster is loose on the land.

What happens next?

Governor Ted Strickland of Ohio, a must win state for Democratic presidential candidates, should have known better. Governor Stickland from Ohio’s southeast represented as a congressman a district filled with white working class voters under great economic distress in Obama’s economy. But in the November 2010 elections Governor Strickland abandoned his voters in order to embrace Barack Obama.

Every piece of Strickland campaign literature distributed had the hated Obama logo on it. In multiple appearances Ted Strickland embraced the Nixonian boy raised by wolves. In multiple campaign appearances, mostly in Cleveland, Ted Strickland, like Charlie Crist, embraced the Frankenstein monster. The people of Ohio recoiled in horror and grabbed pitchforks and torches to beat back the Frankenstein monster at their door.

Ted Strickland should have known better. Obama is Poison. But like the little boy who plays with fire and only stops the dangerous game when burnt – Ted Strickland learned a bitter lesson he should cling to.

Only after Strickland and the Democratic Party of Ohio burnt to the ground does Ted Strickland begin to understand the horror. A few days ago Ted Strickland, Obama logos nowhere to be seen, spoke from a political burn unit:

“…Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland on Wednesday offered some somber and sober-minded criticism for his own party and president.

Democrats suffer from an “intellectual elitism” that prevents them from adopting the type of populist tone to relate to voters, he said. [snip]

“I think there is a hesitancy to talk using populist language,” the Ohio Democrat said in a sit-down interview with The Huffington Post. “I think it has to do with a sort of intellectual elitism that considers that kind of talk is somehow lacking in sophistication. I’m not sure where it comes from. But I think it’s there. There’s an unwillingness to draw a line in the sand.”

Attending the Democratic Governors Association for the last time as a sitting governor, Strickland did not name names with respect to who’s guilty of elitism.”

We’ll translate. What Strickland is saying, is that Obama Dimocrats are unable to talk to the white working class because they are too “intellectual” to speak to the rabble. It’s much more satisfying to sneer “teabagger” than acknowledge a petition for a redress of grievances.

Burnt boy Ted Strickland’s “frustration was evident”. Burnt boy Ted Strickland days ago essentially stated, trumpets blaring, that the Obama Dimocratic Party Must Die:

“Talking, unprompted, about the debate over the expiring Bush tax cuts, Strickland said he was dumbfounded at the party’s inability to sell the idea that the rates for the wealthy should be allowed to expire.

“I mean, if we can’t win that argument we might as well just fold up,” he said.”

We won’t sidetrack into a discussion of the Barack Obama “New Deal” on the Bush tax cuts. What needs to be discussed, as Ted Strickland noted, is that repeal of the Bush tax cuts for upper income taxpayers was a “core” issue.

Obama repeatedly promised he would reject the Bush tax cuts for upper income taxpayers. So what is left when the heart and soul of a party platform is surgically removed? A Frankenstein monster.

Strickland and other Obama Dimocrats attempt a second level defense of Obama by blaming the evil Republicans:

“Addressing the president’s self-analysis — offered after a bipartisan meeting with congressional leadership on Tuesday — that he hadn’t done enough outreach to Republicans, the Ohio governor was equally blunt.

“I saw what CNN said after that meeting yesterday. A line saying the president said he should have been willing to work with the GOP earlier. What? After all of this you don’t realize these people want to destroy you and your agenda?” he asked. “How many times do you have to be, you know, slapped in the face? Look what they did with health care.

“I mean, I understand a reluctance to reach the conclusion that I think a reasonable person can reach: that [Senate Minority Leader Mitch] McConnell was speaking the truth when he said his goal was not to govern, not to develop public policy, but his goal is to defeat this president in 2012. And I think when the base understands that that’s what’s at stake, the base is going to be much more willing to engage and to join the fight. The base is going to be less willing to join the fight if they don’t see the clear differences. The differences are there, for God’s sake.”

Removed from a re-election contest and the trappings of public office, Strickland’s candor is not entirely surprising. But for operatives in the party who have been making a similar argument both privately and in public for months, it will certainly be refreshing.”

This argument does not hold water. As big a promise as getting rid of the Bush tax cuts was, an even bigger Obama promise was the “no red state, no blue state” rubbish so adored by the Hopium Guzzlers. Here on Big Pink we said we wanted a fighter. The nomination was gifted to a wimp. Now the wimp must be kept to his promises, as he breaks first one then another then another.

As we stated at the beginning, Barack Obama had some Nixon style revelatory moments today. The very last question asked of Obama was:

“Some on the left have questioned — have looked at this deal and questioned what your core values are, what specifically you will go to the mat on. I’m wondering if you can reassure them with some specific things in saying, all right, this is where I don’t budge. And along those lines, what’s going to be different in 2012, when all these tax cuts again are up for expiration?”

Obama’s answer said more about Barack Obama than about Republicans:

“Well, what’s going to be different in 2012 we’ve just discussed, which is we will have had two years to discuss the budgetnot in the abstract, but in concrete terms. Over the last two years, the Republicans have had the benefit of watching us take all these emergency actions, having us preside over a $1.3 trillion deficit that we inherited and just pointing fingers and saying, that’s their problem.

Well, over the next two years, they’re going to have to show me what it is that they think they can do. And I think it becomes pretty clear, after you go through the budget line by line, that if in fact they want to pay for $700 billion worth of tax breaks to wealthy individuals, that that’s a lot of money and that the cuts — corresponding cuts that would have to be made are very painful. So either they rethink their position, or I don’t think they’re going to do very well in 2012. So that’s on the first point.”

What Obama is accusing the Republicans of is actually his own history. It was Obama who never did anything but attacked Hillary Clinton and those who put their votes where their mouths were. It was Obama who voted “present” repeatedly. It was Obama who in the senate did not bother to vote on difficult issues (recall the Iranian Revolutionary Guards vote). It was Obama who was never there when you needed him. All Obama did was sip on a Slurpee and talk, and talk, and talk. But now that it is time to “do”, Obama don’t.

Obama today also attacked those of us who mocked his health care scam. But we were and are right. Remember these betrayals and lies (as he and his henchmen attacked Hillary):

None of the recent events is a surprise to us. By December of 2008 it was clear to anyone watching that Obama had flip-flopped on all the Bush tax cut talk (read our article from December 2008).

Those of us who called Obama out years ago were called “racists”. Now, in fairness, we must conclude that: it is racism that motivates people like David Sirota, it is racism that must be to blame for all the phone calls from Big Donors such as Erica Payne who shut down the White House switchboard today, it must be racism Obama Dimocrats will allege that motivates the Republican “hostage takers” and the “bomb throwers”, Chris Bowers, the DailyKooks, Senator Bernie Sanders, Nancy Pelousy, Harry Reid, Katrina vanden Heuvel, – by the standards set three years ago – are all racists attacking Barack Obama as he prepared to go on TV’s “Mythbusters”.

The Obama Dimocratic Party is at the point of implosion. It deserves nothing but a painful death. When we decried the purposeful murder of the Democratic Party of FDR and Hillary Clinton by Barack Obama and his Hopium fueled zombies we were called “racists”. Now the Hopium fueled zombies are themselves calling for a return to the party of FDR and rejecting Obama’s New Deal.

But it’s too late. The Obama Dimocratic Party is at the point of implosion. Barack Obama’s payroll tax holiday is yet another way to destroy Social Security (recall when we wrote “Barack Obama’s Social Insecurity“, “Is Barack Obama A Closeted Ripublican“, and “Obama’s Social Security Treachery“, and were called insane for suggesting that Obama wanted to destroy Social Security) by depriving the program of funds via tax cuts which will never be repealed.

The Obama Dimocratic Party is at the point of implosion. We will continue to throw gasoline and dynamite into the funeral pyre and stick pitchforks in until we destroy it completely.

  1. “Now the Hopium fueled zombies are themselves calling for a return to the party of FDR and rejecting Obama’s New Deal. ”

Yeah, but it’s diffrint this time! There’s no scary old-lady vagina attached to the idea now. That makes it totally so much better.

  2. Pm317, Krauthammer and the Republicans are smart. They are out to get even more from the boob. More and more Republicans are pretending that Obama got too good a deal and they in turn want to demand even more. Expect more boobery from Obama. The worst is yet to come.

  3. admin, Krauthammer is flattering Obama — ‘see you liberals must feel happy, he got you healthcare’. If the dimocrats buy that argument and the blogger boys start writing about it, that will be the end.

  4. pm317
Right admin about the Republicans. On Fox today they were railing about the extension of the unemployment benefits, after getting the outrageously expensive tax cut extension for the wealthy. Neil Cavuto even had a segment attacking the public state pensions. Their greed knows no bounds.

  5. and his other comment flattering Obama was how he was smart to get this big stimulus (disguised as tax cut). He was using all superlatives. very transparent.

  6. pm317
I heard that too earlier in the day on fox. How does keeping things exactly the same equal a stimulus. A thinking person would never fall for this kind of political rhetoric, but we know people do.

  7. Another award for you wall, Admin. Great post!

Sorry, but Gack is all I can say. 😉

  9. Admin-
They are out to get even more from the boob.

They are complaining that the tax cuts to the mega rich should be permanent, because if they aren’t…the ‘small’ business owners can’t make long term plans to hire anyone. (5-10 years out)

The cuts shouldn’t go to any of these people, it should only go to businesses that hire new people and keep them for at least a year. No loop holes to the rich.

  10. It will be a very, very long time before Americans will elect a dem again after seeing the hideous totalitarian face beneath the mask. The letter “D” by any candidate’s name will evoke an element of recoil.

  11. blow
    Where have you been?

I would love the letter ‘D’ when it is attached to
Madam President Hillary Rodham Clinton (real) Democrat

  12. But I’m not sure there’s a script aimed at destroying AMerica.

I guess it depends on how important “intent” is considering that the final result is the same. Do I think that there is a secret cabal pulling the strings to make the US a Third Word Country? NO. Do I think that there are economic interests who are pulling strings to maximize their profits and don’t care if that results in the US becoming Third World Country? Yes. Will people living in this country 50 years from now give a shit about the motives of the people who put them in poverty? I doubt it.

  13. …there’s that old karmic thing again…isn’t it something that Big Pink nailed Obama from the very beginning…point for point…group for group…and now Obama screws everyone but the opposition…how fitting…maybe Big Pink can put a primer together for all the hopiums that have food/Obama poisioning…so they can see what they ingested that is now turning their stomach…ha!

kudos to Big Pink and the strategists and thinkers here…

  14. Lest we forget, Obama also said this: ” “It’s tempting not to negotiate with hostage takers unless the hostage gets harmed,” President Obama said at his Tuesday press conference.

“In this case, the hostage was the American people,” Obama said.”

LJ has a post at NQ on it. He is so incompetent that he can’t even turn it around to make it work for him, in some way. I bet that is what makes the lefties wince.

  15. Talk about a stab in the back. Obama did not even bother to inform Nancy Pelousy before he announced his New Deal:

    http://hotair.com/archives/2010/12/07/angry-obama-on-tax-cuts-gop-are-hostage-takers-liberals-are-sanctimonious/

I wonder if this is true or just Madam Speaker’s Minority Leader Pelosi’s way of distancing herself from the deal as the left freaks out:

“We have some unease,” Pelosi says of Obama plan & admits to being in the dark: “we didn’t realize…agreement was going to be announced.

Why would The One push it out there before giving Nancy a heads up?

  16. Retirees Largely Shut Out of Obama Tax Compromise

    By Philip Moeller
    December 7, 2010

The tax deal reached between President Obama and Republican leaders is great for wealthy Americans (no tax increases and reduced estate taxes). Businesses would get some nice investment tax breaks to encourage them to expand and hire more people. Working people get a year-long, $120 billion benefit through lower Social Security taxes. Millions of people who have been out of work for a long time would continue to receive long-term unemployment benefits. Parents would receive education and tax breaks. Low-income citizens would enjoy an expanded earned income tax credit.

Indeed, there seems to be something for everyone in the $900 billion package. Except retirees. I see no breaks for them.

Now, even if the Bush tax cuts had been allowed to expire, higher tax rates would not have mattered to most retirees. They don’t earn enough to be affected. Well, maybe a little. Their olive loaf sandwiches would have to come without pimentos.

We already know that seniors will face in 2011 their second straight year without a cost-of-living adjustment in their Social Security benefits. While the lack of a COLA reflects the absence of inflation, common sense and lots of research say that’s not true for seniors. Medical expenses are a big hunk of their budgets, and those expenses are going up. In fact, they get hit twice. Medical prices have been rising, by roughly six to eight percent a year. And the amount of medical care needed by a typical retiree increases as they get older. This is a big, double-hit for millions of seniors.

Retirees will be helped a bit next year by the health reform law. It will provide a bigger Medicare subsidy for prescription drugs. But it also is setting in motion changes by private insurers that will pare covered benefits in many Medicare policies.

Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve has redoubled its efforts to keep interest rates near zero. This is supposed to encourage businesses to invest and create jobs. But so far, what it’s mostly done is let banks rebuild their balance sheets, make big profits, and continue not loaning money. Oh, and it’s also just hammered investors who rely on interest-rate holdings such as bonds. Of course, that would describe most retirees—at least those fortunate enough to have any nest eggs left after the 2008-09 market collapse.

I have called out AARP and other senior special-interest groups for refusing to accept their fair share of pain in the recent proposals to reduce the horrendous federal budget deficits. But this tax compromise is not a fair proposal for seniors. They, and their advocates, should be screaming for a piece of this $900 billion program.

  20. SHV, if you want to read a depressing article about the collapse of America, here it is:

    http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2010/12/06/america_collapse_2025

How America will collapse (by 2025)
Four scenarios that could spell the end of the United States as we know it — in the very near future

A soft landing for America 40 years from now? Don’t bet on it. The demise of the United States as the global superpower could come far more quickly than anyone imagines. If Washington is dreaming of 2040 or 2050 as the end of the American Century, a more realistic assessment of domestic and global trends suggests that in 2025, just 15 years from now, it could all be over except for the shouting.

Despite the aura of omnipotence most empires project, a look at their history should remind us that they are fragile organisms. So delicate is their ecology of power that, when things start to go truly bad, empires regularly unravel with unholy speed: just a year for Portugal, two years for the Soviet Union, eight years for France, 11 years for the Ottomans, 17 years for Great Britain, and, in all likelihood, 22 years for the United States, counting from the crucial year 2003.

Future historians are likely to identify the Bush administration’s rash invasion of Iraq in that year as the start of America’s downfall. However, instead of the bloodshed that marked the end of so many past empires, with cities burning and civilians slaughtered, this twenty-first century imperial collapse could come relatively quietly through the invisible tendrils of economic collapse or cyberwarfare.

But have no doubt: when Washington’s global dominion finally ends, there will be painful daily reminders of what such a loss of power means for Americans in every walk of life. As a half-dozen European nations have discovered, imperial decline tends to have a remarkably demoralizing impact on a society, regularly bringing at least a generation of economic privation. As the economy cools, political temperatures rise, often sparking serious domestic unrest.

Available economic, educational, and military data indicate that, when it comes to U.S. global power, negative trends will aggregate rapidly by 2020 and are likely to reach a critical mass no later than 2030. The American Century, proclaimed so triumphantly at the start of World War II, will be tattered and fading by 2025, its eighth decade, and could be history by 2030.

Significantly, in 2008, the U.S. National Intelligence Council admitted for the first time that America’s global power was indeed on a declining trajectory. In one of its periodic futuristic reports, Global Trends 2025, the Council cited “the transfer of global wealth and economic power now under way, roughly from West to East” and “without precedent in modern history,” as the primary factor in the decline of the “United States’ relative strength — even in the military realm.” Like many in Washington, however, the Council’s analysts anticipated a very long, very soft landing for American global preeminence, and harbored the hope that somehow the U.S. would long “retain unique military capabilities… to project military power globally” for decades to come.

No such luck. Under current projections, the United States will find itself in second place behind China (already the world’s second largest economy) in economic output around 2026, and behind India by 2050. Similarly, Chinese innovation is on a trajectory toward world leadership in applied science and military technology sometime between 2020 and 2030, just as America’s current supply of brilliant scientists and engineers retires, without adequate replacement by an ill-educated younger generation.

It gets worse as it continues. More at link for those who want to get depressed.

  21. SHV, if you want to read a depressing article about the collapse of America, here it is:
    *********
I read it yesterday from this link: http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2010/12/while_were_busy_playing_in_the.php

I think it is pretty accurate prediction of the future for this country unless major political realignment occurs as the economy continues to stagnate. More likely, however, is a continued move toward more redistribution of wealth/income to the upper 1% and a more repressive, more theocratic government for the rest of us.

RIP Elizabeth Edwards – Our of Condolences To Her Children – May her Legacy & Spirit Live On
    ——————————
Jan, I talked to a close friend of mine who knew John and Elizabeth. As a matter of fact, she wrote a best selling book on the history of her tribe in America and the white man’s efforts to eradicate their heritage. The book begins with her father being taken away from the family at the age of 9 and moved to an Indian school, as his own mother waved goodbye to him for the last time. John Edwards wrote the poignant introduction to the book. She said he was probably true to Elizabeth until their son was killed and he never quite recovered from that trauma. She had the highest regard for Elizabeth, and mourns her passing. She said Elizabeth was the strength behind John, and said that the attacks which were launched against her were typical of what happens to strong women in this culture. My friend is a strong Hillary supporter, and is not unmindful of her attitude toward our girl, but as Jimmy Stewart noted in the movie Anatomy of A Murder “nobody is all one thing”.

  23. Salon is a leftist rag. Leftists as a rule hate America. It is typical of their ilk to strike a nihilistic theme. They believe in nothing, therefore they respect nothing. And they have no concept of the law of unintended consequences. If the United States does decline, they will be the only ones who are happy about it.

With all that said, the signs of decline are all around us. But that does not mean that with the right leadership some of this cannot be reversed. Nor does it mean that if everything does go to hell, that the elites will be safe. Therefore, it is in the personal interests of the string pullers to not push partisan advantage to its bitter end, because it may boomerang on them in more ways than one.

What I find more depressing is the reaction of the Left. They give Obama a hall pass when he violates their stated values, but when he wimps out fighting a losing battle with Republicans, only then do they go ballistic. If they defended their values, many of us in the center and on the right could form a coalition with them to fight the business interests, but they are so invested in hating everyone who does not agree with them that this is impossible.

  24. The gift that keeps giving . . . as the exceptions (waivers) swallow the rule.

    More Health Waivers
5:30 am December 7, 2010, by Jamie Dupree

The Obama Administration has quietly granted even more waivers to one provision of the new federal health reform law, doubling the number in just the last three weeks to a new total of 222.

One of the more recognizable business names included on the newly-expanded list of waivers issued by the feds is that of Waffle House, which received a waiver on November 23 for health coverage that covers 3,947 enrollees.

Another familiar name was that of Universal Orlando, which runs a variety of very popular resorts in the Orlando, Florida area. Universal was given a waiver for plans that cover 668 workers.

These waivers deal with limited health benefit plans, sometimes referred to as “mini-med” policies, which companies as large as McDonald’s use for some its employees.

The plan have limits on how much can be paid out in coverage, limits which would be phased out under the new health reform law.

The feds though have granted waivers from that law, amid concern that certain groups would drop their health insurance programs entirely. Those waivers are good for one year, and can be considered for renewal.

A spokeswoman for Waffle House refused to explain the need for the waiver, saying “because Waffle House is a private company, we are going to decline to comment.”

As for Universal Orlando, a spokesman defended the waiver in an email on Monday evening.

“The new legislation would have left our part-time workers without their medical coverage,” said Tom Schroder of Universal Orlando Public Relations.

“We sought the waiver so that we could continue to provide them with the coverage they need and deserve,” Schroder added.

The information on the waivers, which is buried deep on the web site of the U.S. Health & Human Services Department, shows that since it was last updated in mid-November, the number of waivers issued has gone from 111 to 222, covering organizations as diverse as the “Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Ogdensburg” to the “Pearson Candy Company.”

You can find a list of all of the 222 waivers at http://is.gd/iiw3u

Several weeks ago, critics singled out a number of unions which had received government approval for exemptions from certain provisions of the law dealing with annual medical spending limit requirements.

And there are more unions who have received waivers in this latest batch, like the Bricklayers Local 1 of MD, VA and DC, the United Food and Commercial Workers Union in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, the Indiana Teamsters Health Benefits Fund, Service Employees International Union Local 1 Cleveland Welfare Fund, and more are listed.

The waivers are also going to a number of average sounding companies like Telesis Management Corporation, Trans-System Inc., Varsity Contractors Inc. and Moore’s Retread & Tire of the Ark-La-Tex, Inc.

One of the central selling points for supporters of the federal health reform law was that it would prohibit health insurance companies from setting limits – yearly or lifetime – on how much in benefits could be paid out under a health insurance policy.

Last week in a Senate hearing, a McDonald’s official defended such limited benefit plans, aruging that they were well tailored to the employees who purchased them.

“McDonald’s works hard to make sure that its employees understand the coverage limitations as well as the benefits provided by these plans. All of the documentation provided to employees details the limited nature of the coverage,” said Rick Floersch, the Vice President for Human Resources at the hamburger chain.

In his prepared testimony, Floersch said that “approximately 90% of covered employees do not reach the annual limit for these benefits.”

But arguments like that did not sway Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), who criticized McDonald’s and other companies for burying the nitty-gritty details of the limited health care coverage for employees in the fine print of the health care brochures.

“More than a million Americans wake up and go to work every day thinking they have health insurance. But they don’t,” said Rockefeller.

The waivers seem likely to draw hearings in the House next year for a different reason, as Republicans demand to know why Democrats would push so hard for health reform legislation, only to see the feds issue several hundred waivers from some of the details.

  25. Is this leadership? He passes a bill that costs 60 democrats in the House their jobs, calls it the greatest civil rights victory since 1964, takes bows and curtain calls and then turns around and guts the damned thing with exceptions. I guess the Democrats are fine with this, but most people would call it a failure of leadership.

  26. Mrs.Smith,
I enjoyed the song, it brought back lots of memories.

Well Elizabeth is with her son and in a much better place…couldn’t help but feel sorry for her the way she died…breast cancer is bad stuff and with the all the turmoil’s in her life…she had a difficult one. RIP Elizabeth!

Yeah it been pretty funny to read the leftie comments crying their eyes out over their messiah!

    Goodnight everyone!

  27. Mark Halperin from last week before the latest crackup:

    http://thepage.time.com/2010/12/02/donkey-doozy/

Is it hyperbolic to say the Democratic Party is in the midst of a nervous breakdown? I have been covering national politics since 1988, and I don’t remember a situation quite like this. The signs of a crack-up are everywhere. Democrats still think they can somehow win a news cycle by demonizing John Boehner. Chuck Schumer goes on the Senate floor and suggests Democrats are getting the same political mileage out of “millionaires tax” that Republicans have gotten over the years from using “death tax.” Politico has a story with blind quotes from Hill Democrats who are furious that the White House isn’t using some sort of mythical leverage over Republicans to extract concessions in exchange for extending all the Bush tax cuts — including continuing to try to trade for DADT and the Dream Act (rather than things dealing with jobs). Two members in good standing of the Professional Left — moveon and the PCCC — are spending its members’ money on TV ads demanding that the president exercise this same mythical leverage to stand up to the GOP.

Democrats are understandably — and largely justified in being — frustrated that they lost an election based on Republicans defending tax cuts for the wealthy that are only expiring because of a budget gimmick championed by George Bush — and based on criticism of their apparent lack of concern over the deficit, by a party that has shown no past or current seriousness about deficit reduction and the hard choices involved. Losing those political fights was as inexplicable as it was hard for the Democrats. Maybe that’s why Thursday seemed to have donkeys melting down all over the place.

  28. Analysis: Obama Tax Deal A Big Gift For America’s Rich

    Source: Reuters

More than 40,000 ultra-rich Americans may have another reason to celebrate the holiday season if President Barack Obama’s latest estate tax proposals are passed by Congress.

Obama struck an agreement on Monday with congressional leaders on a range of tax issues, including cutting the estate tax to 35 percent and raising the individual exemption to $5 million. The estate tax, which expired this year, is due to return in 2011 at 55 percent with a $1 million exemption.

If the compromise proposal is passed, roughly 40,700 families will avoid an estimated $23.2 billion of estate taxes next year, according to the Urban-Brookings Institute Tax Policy Center. Around 3,500 families would pay an estimated $11.2 billion in estate taxes.

“They’re making the estate tax weaker than it has been for more than seven decades. This is a real mistake,” said Lee Farris, who follows estate taxes for United for a Fair Economy, a group advocating progressive tax policy. “Obama also puts himself in a bad position to negotiate the tax in two years.”

Democrats Demand Changes In Obama-GOP Tax Deal

    (12-07)PST WASHINGTON (AP) —

Disappointed Democratic congressional leaders demanded changes in the White House’s tax deal with Republicans on Tuesday despite a spirited argument by President Barack Obama that concessions were preferable to higher taxes for millions of Americans.

    –SNIP
In a remarkable political role reversal, Republicans lined up to support the package, while lawmakers of the president’s party said they were prepared to oppose it. Liberal Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., pledged to “do everything I can to defeat this,” including a filibuster to prevent a final vote.

Democratic opposition focused chiefly on two parts of the deal that marked concessions to Republicans — the decision to let expiring tax cuts remain in effect for people in upper incomes, and a change in the estate tax that the GOP has long sought.

Pelosi called the estate tax provision “a bridge too far,” and Reid also singled it out for criticism. It would allow $5 million per spouse to pass tax-free to heirs, and tax anything above that level at 35 percent.

The compromise is “something that’s not done yet,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. “We’re going to have to do some more work,” he said after a closed door meeting with Vice President Joe Biden and members of the Democratic rank-and-file.
The deal includes an extension of expiring Bush-era tax cuts for all income levels — not just for lower and middle-income taxpayers, as Democrats wanted. It also contains a renewal of jobless benefits due to expire in a few weeks, and a one-year cut in Social Security taxes paid by workers.

  30. Definately a Saul Alinsky strategy to overwhelm local, state and federal government systems.
    ___________________________

The DREAM Act Is An Amnesty Bill That America Cannot Afford

President Obama and the liberal open-border leadership of the Democratic Party are pushing for passage of legislation granting amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. They are doing this despite the fact that this costly legislation will make a difficult job market worse, will place a higher tax burden on Americans, will ensure greater difficulty in balancing budgets on the state and federal level, and will undermine respect for our nation’s immigration laws. — Congress should wake up from this nightmare by defeating the DREAM Act.

In November, voters’ concerns about the weak economy and the poor job market contributed to the election of a large Republican majority in the House of Representatives.

Voters understand, even if the Democratic leadership doesn’t, that granting amnesty to millions of illegal aliens will make it even more difficult for unemployed Americans to find work. With the unemployment rate at 9.8 percent the last thing American job hunters need is millions of DREAM Act amnesty recipients competing with them for work.

The DREAM Act not only undermines economic opportunities for Americans, it also makes it less likely that either state governments or the federal government will bring their budgets into balance.

The Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) has released a report indicating that this amnesty bill will cost state and local taxpayers over $6.2 billion annually, not per decade as Congressional budgets are calculated, because state universities and local community colleges will be forced, by law, to grant illegal aliens in-state tuition discounts. The DREAM Act does not provide federal funding to cover these costs, meaning Americans will be required to pay higher taxes and higher tuition rates.

Providing facts about tuition fees provides insight into the magnitude of this unjust benefit being given to illegal aliens under the DREAM Act. At the University of Iowa, an in-state resident attending the College of Business pays $3,894 per semester while an out-of-state resident pays $12,068 per semester. At Iowa State University, an in-state resident pays $3,566 per semester to attend the College of Business, while an out-of-state resident pays $9,347. Other public universities show similar multipliers. In fact, in the University of California system, in-state residents pay no tuition at all, while out-of-state residents pay a non-resident tuition fee that costs $22,021 per year at all University of California campuses.

This tuition treatment creates a moral conundrum for DREAM Act supporters. What does one say to the widow or widower who has lost their husband or their wife in Iraq, or the child who lost their mother or father in Afghanistan, who is paying out-of-state tuition premiums while they are sitting at a desk next to someone who has received amnesty and a de facto scholarship under the DREAM Act?

Further, the deficit spending federal government will face huge spending increases under the DREAM Act. When amnesty proponents point to a recent Congressional Budget Office (CBO) analysis to claim that the DREAM Act has a short-term positive effect on budget deficits, they do so in an attempt to distract American taxpayers from the long-term negative effects on the budget that are much more pronounced and severe. CBO found that deficit spending on welfare programs would increase by at least $5 billion, and possibly much more, after 2020 as a result of granting DREAM Act amnesty.

As bad as the costs revealed by the CIS and CBO analysis are, it is likely that they are vastly understated because each analysis was based on the assumption that 1.1 million illegal aliens would receive DREAM Act amnesty. Other versions of the legislation currently before Congress (there are 4 versions that the Democratic leadership is circulating to confuse the issue for voters) are estimated to grant amnesty to over 2.1 million illegal aliens.

Further, neither analysis includes the estimated impact of the costs to be incurred by the “backdoor amnesty” the bill provides for the family members of illegal aliens. Many do not realize that illegal aliens who receive amnesty under the bill become eligible at the age of 21 to sponsor members of their family for citizenship too. The cost of “chain migration” will be enormous.

There is also an additional cost for passing amnesty. It is the cost incurred when respect for the Rule of Law is undermined. It has been 24 years since a “one time only” amnesty bill was signed into law and, millions upon millions of illegal border crossings later, it is clear that the 1986 legislation only served as an incentive for further lawbreaking.

In addition, since the DREAM Act prevents the federal government from deporting anyone who applies for amnesty under it, anyone who can sneak into the United States and file a DREAM Act application will have an automatic and legal stay of deportation until the already overloaded courts can make a decision.– The result will be millions of bogus DREAM Act filings and the function will be a de facto visa to stay in the United States.

The DREAM Act is an amnesty bill that America cannot afford. It is unjust to those who have played by the rules in order to come into the country legally, and it is unjust to American taxpayers who will be asked to shoulder the costs of rewarding illegal immigrants for ignoring the law. Americans should demand that it be defeated.

  31. “After all of this you don’t realize these people want to destroy you and your agenda?” ”

    excellent article admin.

I painfully sat throught the “newsconference”, it was more like a petulant immature child lashing out.
I can tell you, none of the small business owners trust one word that comes out of this “man”‘s mouth, and all of us were Hillary dems who are now all registered independents. No one I know has any plans on hiring anyone permanently, perhaps a few for the weeks for the holiday season, but who the hell knows what nonsense is next going to be inflicted on us?

Unemployment may very temporarily ease up a bit, only because of the holiday hiring, but it will continue to get worse. Even the staunchest conservatives I work with say at least with Bill Clinton, they trusted him, they knew he was a moderate/centerist democrat, with Obama, he is a far lefty radical who cannot be trust, he will throw anything and anyone under the bus when its in his interest and say what he needs to say when he needs to lie, why the hell would any business take the risk of expanding their business only to be kicked and slapped 2 years from now?

The only job Obama is interested in saving is his, if the nightmare of this jerk getting relected happens in ’12, companies will be completely shut down and in defensive mode, he will lie to be a pro-growth man, and go back to his radical lefty ways as soon as he can. Independents have already figured out this man cannot be trusted. He is no Bill Clinton and he sure as hell isnt a JFK type democrat.
Will they fall for his lies in ’12 as they did in ’08, my guess would be no.

The party has been utterly destroyed for decades, I as a former dem have no plans on voting for any of these lying jerks anymore.

  32. Government by Regulations Instead of Laws and Treaties

Republicans are assuming that Cap-and-trade (a.k.a. Cap-and-tax) is dead because Senator Majority Leader Harry Reid lacks the votes to bring up the House-passed bill and because this issue proved a loser in the 2010 House races. Like the famous Mark Twain quote: “its death may be exaggerated.”

The Senate’s environmentalism expert, Jim Inhofe (R-OK), warns us that the Obama Administration is trying to implement Cap-and-trade anyway by bureaucratic regulations. Directives issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are coming down the pike to increase energy costs and kill jobs.

Last May, the EPA issued what it called a tailoring rule to govern new power plants (not existing?), oil refineries and factories that yearly emit 100,000 tons or more of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons, or sulfur hexafluoride. Inhofe reports that this tailoring rule will further reduce our manufacturing base and especially hurt the poor and elderly.

Inhofe predicts that the EPA standards planned for commercial and industrial boilers will cost 798,000 jobs. He also warns about the harmful effects on jobs caused by new rules on ozone emissions.

Since Obama moved into the White House, the EPA has proposed or finalized 29 major regulations and 172 major policy rules. The EPA is, for the first time, simultaneously toughening the regulations on all six major traditional pollutants such as ozone and sulfur dioxide.

Before Climategate exposed the politics behind the “science” of global warming, a 5-4 Supreme Court ordered the EPA to consider regulating emissions based on that unsubstantiated and now largely discredited theory.

Despite a long record of supporting Obama stimulus and spending legislation, the expected chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), says “we are not going to allow this administration to regulate what they have been unable to legislate.”

Opposition to EPA’s new rules is remarkably bipartisan. Seventeen Democrats signed a letter to EPA Director Lisa Jackson opposing the new rules.

Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) was elected after running a TV ad showing himself firing a rifle to put a bullet through a copy of the cap-and-trade bill, and he promised to fight EPA attempts to curb greenhouse gas emissions from coal-fired power plants. He may have a difficult task because EPA Director Jackson is plotting to force mass retirements of the coal plants that provide half of U.S. electricity.

Ads are provided by Google and are not
selected or endorsed by Eagle Forum
EPA’s aggressive overregulation is forcing the electric industry to choose between continuing to operate while taking on major capital costs of complying with heavy new burdens, or closing down and building new plants that use more expensive sources such as natural gas. The public will surely end up paying higher electric rates (a.k.a. a big tax increase).

The ObamaCare law was deviously designed to take decision-making away from our elected representatives and give it to 15 “expert” members of the Obama-appointed Independent Payment Advisory Board. Many provisions of this law prohibit Congress from repealing or changing decisions of the “experts.”

The Obama Administration is using administrative regulations to implement what is known as Card Check, which even the Democratic Congress refuses to legislate. Obama’s recess appointee to the National Labor Relations Board, Craig Becker, has lined up a 3-to-2 Board majority to repeal the rule that requires secret ballots in unionization elections.

Currently, a secret ballot of workers is mandated in order to unionize a company. Becker’s new regulation will eliminate that workers’ right and make them subject to coercion and bullying to induce them to vote Yes on a card visible to union bosses.

The Obama Administration is also toying with a plan to substitute administrative regulations for treaties. Several years ago, the Council on Foreign Relations fingered the treaty provision of the U.S. Constitution as its most objectionable section, and now an ex-Clinton Administration State Department bureaucrat, James P. Rubin, has floated a New York Times op-ed suggesting that treaties are not “worth the trouble anymore” and we should substitute domestic regulations.

The globalists find it inconvenient that our Constitution requires a two-thirds Senate vote for treaty ratification. Horrors! That, they say, causes “international frustration” with America.

This frustration broke into print because there are not enough Senate votes to ratify the New START Treaty that Obama signed with Russia. Rubin’s solution is to ditch the ratification process and substitute executive agreements and pronouncements.

Rubin reminds us that after it became clear the Senate was not going to ratify a climate-change treaty, Obama just used EPA regulations, and so we can do likewise with arms-control treaties. Let’s just ignore the Constitution and let Obama bureaucrats make all important decisions.

  33. What the Hell?!?!?

He actually called republican “hostage takers”. What the hell is wrong with this “man” ?!?!?!

  34. none of the small business owners trust one word that comes out of this “man”’s mouth, and all of us were Hillary dems who are now all registered independents. No one I know has any plans on hiring anyone permanently, perhaps a few for the weeks for the holiday season, but who the hell knows what nonsense is next going to be inflicted on us?
    ————————–
That is the heart of it. And the onus falls on Obama for sure. But it also falls on the Republicans who failed to drive a harder bargain while they had the country on their side. What should have they done different? Two things: first, they should have insisted on a five year extension of the tax cuts, since that is the minimum amount of time business needed to have the confidence to make long term hiring decisions. Second, they should have insisted on no decrease in payroll taxes, because that is the beginning of the end for social security. At this point, dimocrats are the ones who are killing this country. But establishment Republicans run a close second, by caving in when they do not have to.

  35. That said, I think it is good strategy for the Republicans to ACT like they won this round, because that prods the Left to continue their withering attack on Obama. Let us hope that his power is in fact withered. But regardless of that, this is not the best deal they could have made for the country–nor the one which they should have made for the good of the country. In that sense they failed.

  36. Indeed, there seems to be something for everyone in the $900 billion package. Except retirees. I see no breaks for them.
    *************************
I noticed this as soon as Obama gave his press conference. Then he cut social security payroll taxes cutting revenue for social security. Holy cow.

  37. tim,
This isn’t the first time that he has called himself a hostage. He did several months ago. Well certainly he has enough skeleton’s in his closet to make himself a prime target for blackmail. Anyone with knowledge and a political agenda could very well make him do whatever they want. I doubt the republicans are really doing that though. Obama is trying to gain sympathy over his crappy policies.

  38. The hostage metaphor was such a bad choice for many reason right now. Terrorism, piracy, etc. are serious matters now and for him to talk about himself as a hostage is the height of narcissism. When he implied that negotiating with hostage takers can be the only way, I about jumped out of my chair. I’m sure he did not even see the danger in those kinds of statements from the President of the US.

    BigCatLover,
I really think this is Obama’s real job…which is to screw with social security!

Your dog will work harder than Barack Obama does. And your dog will love you more. Your dog will protect you more. Your dog won’t bullshit you.

You won’t get sick of looking at your dog. Your dog doesn’t need a teleprompter. He never lies to you and he’s not picking your wallet. You will never open the morning paper and read about how your dog is screwing you again. And unlike You Know Who, your dog is not afraid of work. In fact, he LOVEs work. And your dog doesn’t require special vacations either. You know, the kind where he’s so important they move entire coconut crops out of trees for him.

    So who’s better for you?

Even better, your dog will get you in shape just hanging OUT with him.–and you will laugh the entire time you are getting in shape.

…And if and when the time comes, your dog will take down any two or four-legged freak who tries to mess with you–and not think twice. Remember my story of the two pittie freaks. Without my dog, I wouldn’t be writing this today. Now THAT’s Homeland Security! You think your Senator would give a shit if you got killed by a Pittie? So why pay attention to these freaks and get all flustered, when you could hang out with a dog instead?

  48. Hillary’s Cretan Dilemma

With most of the Left finally realizing that the anticipated Unicorn & Rainbow Camelot is actually become The Nightmare on Pennsylvania Avenue, an ever-louder chorus of voices are speaking the previously unspeakable: Obama should not run again. Since Hillary Clinton was the logical, rational, best choice for president in 2008, only to be shoved aside by hopey-changey lemmings, eyes now inevitably turn to her as an alternative in 2012. While in Bahrain this week, The Secretary of State was asked yet again whether she intends on running for office. Her response:

“I think I will serve as secretary of state as my last public position, and then probably go back to advocacy, and probably on behalf of woman and children….”

This follows an appearance last month on Fox News, where Clinton declared,

“I am very happy doing what I’m doing, and I am not in any way interested in or pursuing anything in elective office….”

Despite the decided dodginess of Clinton’s full comments, the headlines blared that she had definitively promised never, ever to run again. Never ever. Stick-a-needle-in-my-eye never. The dwindling ranks of obots rejoiced, while Hillary supporters lamented (with the exception of a subset who see Hillary as ‘tired’ and wish to protect her from further ‘abuse’.) The Right, who’d love a scrum in the Dem primary, continue to praise Clinton … for the moment. Chrissie O’Donnell officially has a girl-crush on Hillary.

    Inscrutable

In truth, nothing at all can be gleaned from Clinton’s comments. First, she deflected these questions in the most round-about way possible. Second, the specific question on FOX was whether she’d run as obama’s VP. Third, whatever Hillary’s true intentions, It was the only possible thing she could say.

    Clinton is either:

    a) definitely running, or;

    b) undecided about running, or;

    c) definitely not running.

Whichever is true, her on-the-record response would be the same. It’s unthinkable for a cabinet member to publicly announce their intention to run against the sitting president. To do so at this point would be fatal to her career. However, even if Clinton were not considering a run, certain political advantages would still accrue by keeping people wondering.

Clinton has been deftly fouling off similar inquiries for two years now. Only a political tyro (or Joe Biden) would do otherwise. With her most recent statements, Hillary indulges us in three jalousies that we all know range from uncertain to preposterous:

    1. obama will win a second nomination;

    2. obama will win a second term;

    3. obama loves Hillary so much he’ll bring her back as SoS.

Even Clinton’s professed love for her current job amounts to little. Keep this in mind: If obama is the nominee in 2012, Clinton will not be SoS in 2013. It goes without saying that a Republican president would not keep a Clinton in their Cabinet. Were obama to somehow get reelected, Clinton is also out. SoS is the prized plum. In ’08, obama offered it first to Kerry for his endorsement, then to Edwards for his, then to Clinton for her surrender. In ’12, obama would dangle that plum before whoever could help him most. If Hillary truly wants to keep her dream job at State, she needs to boost a protégé into the White House.

    Reading Signs

With her public statements so unrevealing, what other signs can we parse to divine Hillary’s intentions? Here are a few to ponder:

    * During the recent mid-terms, Bill Clinton made a point of being seen campaigning for every Hillary delegate from 2008. That simply could have been the right thing to do, but it may also have sent a message: Whose team do you want to play on? Whether that means Hillary Clinton ’12, or just the Clintonista candidate, is unclear.

    * Evan Bayh has done everything — not seek reelection to his office, raise a ton of money, pull together a campaign team — that one does before running for president. Bayh is a long-time Clintonista. Whether his role is a “rabbit” to let Hillary enter the race later (with VP as the reward), or the actual Clinton Camp candidate, also remains to be seen. If Bayh did not run, that would be noteworthy.

    * Why did the HRC 2008 campaign, which still exists as an entity, send an email last week asking for hefty donations to retire her campaign debt? In return, the donor would receive a signed copy ($50 for paper, $250 for DVD) of her 2008 convention speech, in which, as the email reminds us, Hillary spoke of the “determination to keep going, often in the face of enormous obstacles.” The timing is curious. Is this a simple attempt to wipe out that debt by tapping into Hillary love agitated by the recent speculations? Or is a way to take bearings of the level of support?

    * A pronounced break with obama on foreign policy, followed by a resignation, would be the strongest indicator of an impending run by Clinton. The State Dept. and White House have spatted frequently, most recently in September over Clinton’s comparison of the drug cartel situation in Mexico to that of Colombia two decades ago, but these differences have been smoothed over so far. A bungling of a flare-up in the Korean situation, however, or the White House dragging its feet on wikileaks, would provide more than sufficient cause for Clinton to break with obama. If she does, stay tuned.

    Job Satisfaction

Of course Secretary of State is a job Clinton truly enjoys — dealing with other grown-ups who respect you, making a real impact in crucial global issues, serving as the face of the United States, stand in stark contrast to the pettiness, backstabbing, and general insanity of party politics. Hillary would no doubt enjoy being President, too. It’s the road to the White House that’s unpalatable. But here’s the deal:

    1) We need Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee in 2012 — she’s the only one who can run both as a Democrat and against the obama legacy. She fought him in ’08, and by escaping the Senate, she is untainted by obama’s Superfund Site of toxic legislation. Her unique broad-based appeal can also help win back the demographics alienated by the obamalonians;

    2) We know Hillary can win the general election. She currently owns the highest approvals of any potential candidate;

    3) We know Hillary is eminently suited to fixing the dire condition of the Nation. There may be others, but she has proven her abilities;

    4) Hillary knows all this, too.

Whatever her designs, she cannot make a single move so long as obama remains the presumptive nominee. Our first duty as true liberals is to ensure that Barry goes on permanent vacation. Then ask Hillary the question again.

(I was livid when I returned and was treated like Kryptonite.)

They haven’t brought up the fact that they made a HUGE MISTAKE yet, but they are pist about the mega rich getting this holiday gift from their Barry and they are really depressed and angry.

Most American’s are afraid of the future right now, but unless the economy makes a 180 pronto, Barry is toast with them.

Shadowfax — you are a patient person, I rub it every Obot face I can. I put up a poster of Palin and a poster of Hillary side by side; gets all these Obots all wee-weed up.

  51. The anger of Barack Obama

President Obama, long criticized by many in his own party for lacking appropriate passion, delivered a blunt and confrontational message to his liberal critics during a press conference today. (Yesterday)

Faced with increasing criticism from liberals over his decision to compromise with Republicans on a two-year extension of the Bush tax cuts, Obama openly chastised the party’s base — warning them of being “sanctimonious” and reminding them that “this country was founded on compromise”.

He also rejected the idea that he had failed to make good on a series of promises he made to the left (and the country) during the 2008 campaign. (Bullshit meter is sounding alarm.) “There is not a single thing that I said I would do that I have not done or tried to do,” Obama asserted.

Obama, to be fair, didn’t only single out Democrats for criticism. He compared negotiating with Republicans to negotiating with hostage takers and said he only did so because of the danger that the hostage — aka the American public — would be harmed.

Taken broadly, this press conference was a true rarity for Obama: the president as populist — and an angry one at that.

The president repeatedly sought to frame the compromise on tax cuts as a choice between playing politics and looking out for the American people. “My number one priority is to do what’s right for the American people,” Obama said at the start of the press conference.

The image of a visibly irritated — if not outright angry — Obama was a stunning contrast to cool, calm and collected persona that he has long cultivated.

Allies of the president insisted his tone was justified and winning — that he was channeling the frustration of the American people with a government unable to solve big problems. (His SUPER MAJORITY)

But, anger is a dangerous emotion in politics.

Used tactically, it can help convey a sense of shared concern/upset with the American people. Used less skillfully, it can make a politician look small and petty.

The best — and the worst — of the anger equation can be found in former president Bill Clinton.

At his best, Clinton used his anger to channel the best of the best southern populist politicians — turning an issue into an “us versus them” argument that he almost always won.

At his worst, Clinton would turn his fire onto the process itself — the media, the rules of Congress etc. — which almost invariably ensured political defeat either of the temporary or permanent variety.

  52. Hillary Clinton On Power Of Women And Girls At TEDWomen

    Dec. 8 2010

To much applause, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was a surprise speaker on the TEDWomen stage this afternoon. Dressed in gray jacket and slacks, she said with a broad smile, “If TEDWoman is in D.C., I have to be part of this.”

“I know there’s been controversy whether there should be a TEDWoman conference…or not,” she said. “The right decision was made. We still have so much to talk about. What we need to do is widen the circle of opportunity to women and girls.”

“We can already see power of women and girls as agents of change,” she continued. “I have made it clear as secretary of state that the roles and rights of women will be a central tenet of American foreign policy. Where girls and women flourish, our values are also protected.”

Women’s and girl’s rights are “a prosperity issue and a peace issue,” she continued. “That is why we need to integrate women’s issues into discussions at the highest level. Not just because I have a personal commitment or President Obama does, but because it is in the vital interests of the U.S.”

“Send a girl to school even just for one year and her income dramatically increases for life and her children more likely to survive and her family will be healthier. Give women equal rights and entire nations are secure. The subjugation of women is a threat to the common security of our world and national security of our country.”

Clinton also acknowledged the passing of Elizabth Edwards. “She would appreciate this event. We’ve lost a voice and a very active blogger who was willing to put herself on the line time and time again.”

In closing, she shared the story of an African teenage girl and her cow. This girl had been to school and received a cow by a project like Heifer International. “When her father demanded she drop out of school and get married, she refused,” narrated Clinton. “When he insisted, she insisted right back. ‘If I leave and get married, I’m taking my cow,’ the girl said.”

The father backed down and she was saved an early marriage and received an education. All because her father wanted to keep the cow. Lesson: A small intervention and tenacity can change a woman’s life.

Shadowfax — you are a patient person,
    >>> Not really, layoffs at work are pending and I have to be on my best behavior, which isn’t easy when it comes to Baracko.

I rub it every Obot face I can. I put up a poster of Palin and a poster of Hillary side by side; gets all these Obots all wee-weed up.

    >>>>I have photos up on my wall at work too, many of Hillary and one of the Big Dawg.

    I bet! LOL.

  55. Obama can never do what Bill did…he doesn’t have it in him!

    Shadowfax,
I can forgive old Nasty, if she’s found her way back from the “dark side”. LOL!

I thought it was unusual that she stayed on as speaker….something happened there!

  56. confloyd
The only way I could ‘forgive’ Nasty is if she spilled the beans on all of the corruption in the Dem party since Barry arrived in his gold sprayed chariot.

  57. “Not really, layoffs at work are pending and I have to be on my best behavior, which isn’t easy when it comes to Baracko.”

good point! let those posters do all the rubbing into Obot faces. LOL!

  58. Shadowfax, Yeah, I agree, but you can bet that’s how she stayed on as speaker! She better start doing her job of defending the middle, and low income folks or she’ll be out of a job soon.

  59. tim,
Sorry to hear about layoffs at your work….at mine we are all at a skeleton crew….hope this new hellcare bill doesn’t make things worse!

  60. in my office the picture of Hillary I had is from the newspaper ad that New Agenda had in the USA today, I don’t know if anyone remembers it, its was taken in PA I believe, and its raining in the background, and Hillary is standing there, her coat wet.

The Sarah poster I had is when she was when she was in CA giving a speech there.

Both are pretty big posters and I have them both side by side and in the middle I have my old glory USA flag which is 2 times the size.

thanks. actually I was pasting what Shadowfax had written. Fortunately for my small business no layoffs yet, I asked everyone to take a pay cut instead, so no new hires, but no new fires either. My wife and I will have to cut back severely because of these pay cuts, but I guess this is the new reality now. I sure as heck will not be hiring with Waffles in charge.

Yes I think so, it was when all the disgusting undemocratic party was forcing her to leave, and NOW was pretty useless (and still is in my opinion) and that’s when New Agenda formed, raised money and took out an ad in USA today to encourage hillary.

I bought at least 10 copies of that newspaper and framed one of them.

Rockstar Hillary in the rain. That is my all time favorite photo of her.

The other one I have is her behind a podium, black suit jacket with pearls, hands raised with a flashbulb light in the background, the crowd with their hands raised with her.

  68. I posted a this comment about what income inequality would do to capitalistic societies like the US.. repeating my comment from above.

The first video of Raghuram Rajan (you get the gist of his argument in the first 5 minutes.)

The central idea is income redistribution but with a view to afford opportunities at ‘the American Dream’ for everybody without taking away the rewards and the incentives for the people who made it. There is a lot going on globally and the US elected Bush and now Obama at a time they needed somebody who was studious and smart and relentless in figuring out US’ place in a global economy. It is a shame. I think Hillary was talking about exactly this in NH in 2008.

  69. Soros not too happy at having been groped by Fox and Beck? Awwwww!

Soros Warns U.S. Could Be On Verge Of Dictatorial Democracy, Slams Fox, Glenn Beck

Billionaire investor and philanthropist George Soros warned tonight in New York that the combination of Fox News, Glenn Beck, The Tea Party, and the ability of Americans to fantasize unrealistically about their political system might lead “this open society to be on the verge of some dictatorial democracy.”

Soros mentioned George Orwell’s novel, “1984″ as a possible precedent for the kind of fantasies being promulgated in our culture today. Orwell’s “1984″ satirized the Communist system of absolute control over society and politics that prevailed in the Soviet Union until 1990.

Soros was speaking extemporaneously in conversation with CNN newsman Fareed Zakaria at a International Crisis Center dinner that honored him at the Pierre Hotel.

Former President Bill Clinton, Lord Christopher Patten, Chancellor of Oxford University, hedge fund multibillionaire Paul Tudor Jones, all spoke eloquently about Soros contribution to global order.

Many financiers, mutual fund managers, and former diplomats like Thomas Pickering and John Whitehead were in the audience.

Soros was especially bitter and harshly critical of the rolke played in our political discourse by the Fox News Channel, owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. as a very dangerous precedent for the “open society” that has prevailed in the U.S. for 200 years.

Exclusive: Sarah Palin Under Cyber-Attack from Wikileaks Supporters in ‘Operation Payback’

The website and personal credit card information of former Gov. Sarah Palin were cyber-attacked today by Wikileaks supporters, the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate tells ABC News in an email.

Hackers in London apparently affiliated with “Operation Payback” – a group of supporters of Julian Assange and Wikileaks – have tried to shut down SarahPac and have disrupted Sarah and Todd Palin’s personal credit card accounts.

“No wonder others are keeping silent about Assange’s antics,” Palin emailed. “This is what happens when you exercise the First Amendment and speak against his sick, un-American espionage efforts.”

Palin has criticized Wikileaks founder Assange, writing on Facebook that his “past posting of classified documents revealed the identity of more than 100 Afghan sources to the Taliban. Why was he not pursued with the same urgency we pursue al-Qaeda and Taliban leaders?…Assange is not a ‘journalist’ any more than the ‘editor’ of al-Qaeda’s new English-language magazine Inspire is a ‘journalist.’ He is an anti-American operative with blood on his hands.”

Activist Gregg Housh told the New York Times “that 1,500 people were on online forums and chatrooms including Anonops.net, mounting mass and repeated ‘denial of service’ attacks on sites that have moved against Mr. Assange and WikiLeaks in recent days.”

A cached page from Anonops.net shows Palin’s site as a suggested target.

A SarahPAC.com technical aide said that “on our server log this morning it showed the attacks coming from a browser identified as wikileaks.org. It has since spread to others entitled ‘anonymous.’”

Added SarahPAC aide Rebecca Mansour, “the governor voiced her opinion knowing full well that she was speaking out against a shady disreputable organization with no regard for laws or human life. This is how they operate. The world should not be intimidated by them.”

Mansour added that Wikileaks supporters claim to be “in favor of free speech yet they attack Sarah Palin for exercising her free speech.” She said SarahPAC.com was not harmed because Palin’s staff was able to move quickly to protect the site.

Billionaire Soros Picks $1 Million Fight With Fox News

    Oct. 21, 2010

Billionaire philanthropist George Soros hasn’t given much in the way of political donations this election season. Yesterday, though, he made an indirect contribution to the left: $1 million to research nonprofit Media Matters to fight Fox News and its “incendiary rhetoric.” Said Soros in a statement:

“Despite repeated assertions to the contrary by various Fox News commentators, I have not to date been a funder of Media Matters. However, in view of recent evidence suggesting that the incendiary rhetoric of Fox News hosts may incite violence, I have now decided to support the organization. Media Matters is one of the few groups that attempts to hold Fox News accountable for the false and misleading information they so often broadcast. I am supporting Media Matters in an effort to more widely publicize the challenge Fox News poses to civil and informed discourse in our democracy.”

Immediately and perhaps predictably, Fox News’ most outspoken host Glenn Beck cried foul, likening Soros’ $1 million gift to a “wanted dead or alive poster”. On his show yesterday evening, Beck addressed Soros, saying:

“Mr. Soros, let me just tell you something. If I happen to fall — what was that movie where the guy fell out of the window at the end?…I love this phrase. Blood will be on your hands, sir. One million dollar bounty.”

Media Matters is currently headlining a campaign to get advertisers to stop paying for ads on Fox, in large part due to Beck’s show. In a statement thanking Soros for his gift, the group’s CEO David Brock called The Glenn Beck Show “an out-of-control vehicle for the potential incitement of domestic terrorism.”

“No American should be quiet about these developments — the degradation of our media and the reckless endangerment of innocent lives,” Brock said. “George Soros, a philanthropist of the highest integrity, unfortunately knows first-hand what it’s like to be grotesquely caricatured and flatly lied about on Fox.”

  72. Usually, we deport alien criminals to the country of their origin. Not with this president. Let me get this straight, other countries could deport their “own” convicted criminals to the US where they will be eligible to apply for US Citizenship.

Oh, no- that would be buying into a conspiracy theory there are people who want to destroy America…and of course, Obama is init to “help” US citizens by importing criminal elements into the country- when home town local police are facing layoffs because of municipal fund deficits.

Republicans Slam DREAM Act for Including Immigrants With Criminal Records

With both chambers of Congress cruising toward a vote on the DREAM Act as early as Wednesday afternoon, Republicans are grousing about what they argue is a glaring loophole that allows illegal immigrant criminals to qualify for a green card.

The DREAM Act, a bill heavily backed by the Obama administration and congressional Democrats, would give some illegal immigrants who arrived in the United States as children a pathway to legal status provided they attend college or join the military. Supporters argue it gives immigrants invested in this country a chance at coming out of the shadows, justly letting them off the hook for the decision of their parents to enter the United States illegally. It encourages education and would build the Armed Forces, they say.

But the bill is written more broadly than that, Republicans argue. According to a memo circulated by GOP aides on the Senate Judiciary Committee, there are a host of crimes illegal immigrants would be allowed to commit and still qualify — assault, domestic violence, sexual abuse, reckless driving and various types of fraud among them.

“Talk about misplaced priorities. In the middle of a deep recession, with taxes about to increase, Democrat leaders in Washington are asking Americans to pick up the tab for a proposal that would offer amnesty to millions — including those with criminal records,” Stephen Miller, a spokesman for Judiciary Committee Republicans, told FoxNews.com in a statement.

The list of permissible crimes would depend on the circumstance, but the way the bill is written, it allows a potential applicant to have committed up to two misdemeanors. Specifically, anybody convicted of a federal or state offense carrying a sentence of one year or less, or anybody convicted of up to two offenses with a combined sentence of under 90 days, could be eligible.

We Are All Tom Buffenbarger Now

Posted Wednesday, December 08, 2010 8:12 AM | By David Weigel

Remember Tom Buffenbarger? In 2008, his International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers endorsed Hillary Clinton over Barack Obama. The night of the Wisconsin primary, which Obama won, Buffenbarger helped kick off Hillary’s campaign in Ohio with a volcanic 12-minute speech all about the weakness he’d seen in Obama in Illinois, on pivotal labor fights. I found the video again after watching a few minutes of MSNBC last night.

    Choice bits:

Barack Obama is no Muhammad Ali. He took a walk every time there was a tough vote in the Illinois State Senate. He took a walk more than a 130 times. That’s what a shadow boxer does. All the right moves. All the right combinations. All the right footwork. But he never steps into the ring

    And the wind-down:

Hope? Change? Yes We Can? Give me a break! I’ve got news for all the latte-drinking, Prius- driving, Birkenstock-wearing, trust fund babies crowding in to hear him speak! This guy won’t last a round against the Republican attack machine. He’s a poet, not a fighter.

At the time, Obama supporters thought Buffenbarger was ridiculously unfair. Now?

  75. Byron, Bryon, Bryon…. Waffles has lied on every front all the time… “I’m only going to take public financing”, once he stole the undemocratic primaries, heck, whatever, so I signed a piece of paper saying I would take public financing, whatever. LIAR

“No indiv. mandate”. whatever, its not a tax, its a individual mandate that forces you to buy a private product that you may not want or cannot afford. LIAR

and on and on it goes. The man is allergic to recogzining or telling the truth, Obama believes more in the story of Obama than of America; that should explain in all his decisions and how he views things.

  76. tim, I think Byron did a good job compiling that list. The list is not for us but we should throw such evidence at Obots’ faces everyday.

  77. Liberals Try to Prevent Pelosi From Bringing Tax Bill to the Floor

Fox has learned that Reps. Peter DeFazio (D-OR), Jim McDermott (D-WA) and Jay Inslee (D-WA) are crafting a letter to share with the House Democratic Caucus that would try to prevent the Speaker from bringing the tax bill to the floor.

They hope to get 60 signatures on their letter (which is still being drafted) and then force a vote in the caucus. DeFazio says he thinks that if a majority of House Democrats are against this compromise, they shouldn’t bring it to the floor.

In other words, they are seeking a majority of the majority to move this and a senior House democratic source indicates they don’t know if they have a majority of democrats, saying they haven’t whipped this yet.

In an interview with Fox, DeFazio criticizes the president and says a majority of the House Democratic Caucus does not support the tax rate compromise. “There does not seem to be a majority of the Democrats who support the deal negotiated by Vice President Biden,” DeFazio said. “So we want to have a record vote in the caucus on a resolution that says this resolution should not go to the floor without a majority of Democratic vote.
