The Fruit Of Corruption: Death To The Obama Dimocratic Party And Its Enablers

We borrow from the Christian Gospels today. “Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by its fruit.”

A peach tree will bear peaches. An apple tree will bear apples. A Chicago tree will bear corruption. Corruption will come from corruption. Mr. and Miss/Ms/Mrs. America – tear down that tree.

For years we declared that a political party cannot be built or grow on the basis of “situation comedy” demographics and that in America the white working class (as difficult as this is) must be the rock foundation of a centrist or progressive political party.

For years we have additionally been making the point that “Barack Obama Is Poison“. As a corollary to “Barack Obama Is Poison” we made the additional point that it would take an election day bloody beating for some of the dumbest and the self-interested to come to the same conclusions as us – only years later. And of course we have as our catechism:

Obama simply cannot be trusted. Obama cannot be trusted on any issue. Obama cannot be trusted by his friends. Obama cannot be trusted by his enemies. Obama cannot be trusted.

There are many for whom the November 2010 elections came as a surprise wake up call. But some dumb pillars of Big Media are fighting a rear guard action to preserve their delusions. Instead of coming to us, dressed in penitent sackcloth, to ask for additional wisdom and insight into the future, the dummies in Big Media go to the dummies who only now faintly echo us.

Consider E.J. Dionne, who is in search of answers as to how the Obama Dimocrats can “Up Their Game”. Instead of asking those of us who have been correct in our analysis from the very beginning, Dionne goes a-hunting with three losers. Instead of us, the tree with lovely apples, Dionne goes to the wormy apples tree.

Dionne interviewed Mary Jo Kilroy of Ohio, Joe Sestak of Pennsylvania, and Tom Perriello of Virginia. Remember that these three electoral losers tied themselves to Barack Obama like leeches on a corpse. These are truly stupid people who deserved defeat simply on the basis that they were/are so out of touch with constituents that they thought Obama was a plus in their elections. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Now one of many deservedly defeated Obama Dimocrats in Ohio, Representative Mary Jo Kilroy says what we have been writing for years and years and years:

“The party’s heavy losses this year among white working-class voters, she said, should not have come as a shock.

“I watched them in the last four years go from being anxious about the future to being worried, but also hopeful during the 2008 campaign, to being very angry.”

Too late Mary Jo. Mary Jo Kilroy enabled Barack Obama, ignored her constituents, believed the rubbish about the new Obama Dimocratic Party – and for that she deserves her political death.

Wormy apple Mark Halperin, who not so long ago wrote that Obama was a golden apple and thought Obama brought about a “Game Change” and a new Democratic coalition for never ending victories, has pretzeled himself. Halperin’s new take on Barack Obama is that only luck – not Hope or Change or his dumb coalition – luck is the only thing that will save Obama:

What Obama Needs to Come Back: Nothing Short of Luck

The coalition that got Barack Obama elected President just two years ago has been shattered. [snip]

A survey of the political landscape shows that many groups who were part of the 2008-09 Obama coalition have turned on him. Liberals believe he is an overcompromising wimp. (See blistering recent columns by progressive icons Paul Krugman and Frank Rich of the New York Times for a taste of what the left thinks of “their” President now.) The business community considers Obama ignorant about markets at best, a socialist at worst (O.K., some business people entertain an even harsher assessment). The media, after aiding and abetting his ride to the White House, now see the President as incompetent and overwhelmed. The independents and Republicans who backed him for office currently feel he is too liberal and too weak to do the job. These trends are all worse in Washington and among opinion leaders than they are in the country at large, but the views of elites are clearly shaping how the President is perceived by the nation in general.”

Paul Krugman and especially Frank Rich for years polished the corrupt fruit from Chicago. Their latest writings do not impress us at all. It’s all repositioning away from the embarrassment of most of their Obama polishing writings and appearances. Krugman and Rich are not alone of course. Big Media enabled Barack Obama and continued to suck up to him even as the worms crawled out of his eye-sockets, nose and mouth.

Even now the Obama apple polishers in Big Media and in Obama Hopium dens continue to excuse their 2008 support of Barack Obama. For instance, there is a video of Bill Maher (interviewed by Fared Zakaria) making the rounds in which Maher calls Obama “wimpy” and “wussy”. But that is NOT the key lesson to derive from the video. The truth is uglier and one which these delusional apple polishers will ignore. Here’s the video:

Did you catch the racial bigotry? Few in the left will admit to this racial bigotry. For all the enlightened talk from the left, for all the attacks from the left on the racism from the right, for all the supposed “blacks are our bros and bros before hos” talk the racial bigotry leaps from the surface like a salmon going upstream.

Maher “jokes” that two years in he expected to be making jokes about how Obama is a “gangsta”. As Maher so eloquently puts it: “I thought we were getting Suge Knight.” To the leftist racist if you are black you are a cool and fashionable thug. Suge Knight, criminal, thug, gangster, co-founder of Death Row Records, likely murderer of rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., and woman beater is what Bill Maher voted for. Instead of content of character, Maher and many on the left voted for skin color.

It’s not just Barack Obama that must be removed before the Democratic Party can be resurrected and made whole once again. These creeps with their own versions of prejudice and racism, sexism and misogyny, must be purged fully from the party. These rotten trees must be burnt down.

Corruption will come from corruption – that is a law of reality that will not be denied. How Obama was gifted the Democratic nomination, his entire history of corruptions in Chicago, his associations and alliances cannot be erased – rather they write the future.

This week we will begin to examine the Dimocratic future. It won’t be pretty. But someone has got to write the truth in the raw. Our crystal ball is polished and ready.

The future of the Obama Dimocratic Party is bleak because the Obama Dimocratic past is so corrupt. Corruption will come from corruption. Burn it all down.

  1. “Maher and many on the left voted for skin color.”

Maher and many on the left voted for woman-hatred. The Hollywood gansta rappers who are making money off of white stereotypes of their blackness were only the white, gentry progressives’ shorthand for smacking a bitch up. It was everything they wanted — they could be racist as all hell without taking heat for it because they were voting for The Black One, plus watching one — and with Palin’s pick, two! — bitches get what bitches deserve. Score!

That’s what the cartoon of Gangsta Culture and the wannabe suburban white boyz who play along (Eminem, anyone?) have done for black people in this country — convinced several generations of gentry whites that “black” is the same as being a rapist-car-thief with a backwards baseball cap and baggy pants. Barky was “clean” and “articulate” but still a gun-carrying thug? I guess that’s the whole biracial thing — his hite half was smart and his black half was street to people like Maher.

And they call the right wing racist! Attention black people — do you really think that being painted with that brush is a price you are willing to pay to watch a shitload of white people vote for a darker than usual white man who is going to fuck your communities up the ass anyway? Is that deal with the devil really what you want to make?

Unalloyed woman-hatred and a gentry white person’s adoration of the cartoon of Black Cool — that is ALL 2008 was. Manufactured Hollywood Gangsta Culture is a pampered white person’s way to pretend to be edgy and womanhating while making their misbehavior someone else’s fault.

  2. Hillary called herself a Progressive
    ————————————
Her reference was to the progressive movement at the turn of the century epitomized by social organizations like the Salvation Army, and the politics of Teddy Roosevelt and Robert Follete. Those people and organizations sought to help people in need and were a reaction to the excesses of the Gilded Age. Much of Hillarys early work on behalf of women and children and voting rights for Hispanics in Texas were charateristic of an old school progressive. The people who parade under that banner today

    ======================

I think I posted a link to Hillary’s complete statement here a while back. I don’t think she would use a term in a way that needed such esoteric qualification. If she wanted to dissociate herself from all of today’s ‘progressives’ (such as her fundraiser PUMA Heidi Li Feldman who uses that term), Hillary would not have called herself any kind of ‘progressive’.

  3. Maher’s so proud of that line. He uses it in practically every interview, and never get’s called out on it.

  4. Clinton tour showed limits of WikiLeaks damage

MANAMA, Bahrain (AP) — Two things about the WikiLeaks effect on U.S. foreign relations were apparent on U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s first overseas trip since the publication of a trove of secret State Department messages.

First: The disclosures aren’t crippling her brand of diplomacy. Second: The releases almost certainly will dog her for months and complicate her job, particularly with only a fraction of the quarter-million diplomatic messages made public so far.

As a sign of how seriously the U.S. takes the potential for serious diplomatic damage, Clinton said she had recommended that President Barack Obama call some leaders to smooth things over. She didn’t say which ones she suggested.

WikiLeaks questions intruded throughout her trip this past week to Central Asia and to the Persian Gulf nation of Bahrain, where she attended a security conference with dozens of Arab leaders and hundreds of officials from around the world. Those questions consumed time she otherwise would have spent talking with foreign leaders about other matters.

But there was scant evidence that the leak furor, however troublesome, amounted to more than an irritant to real diplomacy. Even in the midst of the publicity storm, she managed to close a deal with the former Soviet republic of Belarus on securing nuclear materials.

At each stop she bemoaned the document dump of more than 250,000 State Department reports, many classified secret, variously describing the deed as “illegal,” ”regrettable,” ”thoughtless” and “irresponsible.” She made clear her belief that it’s not just the U.S. government that is left vulnerable.

“I believe this attack, if left unpunished, will be just the first of many against anyone, anywhere,” she said in Bahrain.

Clinton realizes, she said Tuesday in Kazakhstan, that other countries will keep pressing for explanations about the substance of the sometimes-undiplomatic dispatches as well as Washington’s inability to stop them from leaking.

Her goal in the coming weeks, she told reporters flying back to Washington with her late Friday, is “to make sure, as (more) things become public, if they raise concerns, I will be there to reach out and talk to my counterparts or heads of state and government.”

She insisted the problem will blow over and diplomacy will return to normal, though with greater efforts at preserving secrecy. She said she came to that conclusion after meeting with dozens of leaders on her trip and calling many others.

“A lot of people were reassured,” she said, trying to put the best face on an embarrassing situation. “They got their questions answered and joke about it and realize we’re going to keep doing business, and nothing was going to slow down our outreach and our diplomacy.”

Most of the questions she fielded in public meetings with students and civic leaders had no relation to WikiLeaks.

In Astana, Kazakhstan, she expressed regret, in public and in private, for the leaks. Among the material were confidential reports from U.S. Embassy officials that cast high-level Kazakh government officials in a sometimes unflattering light. Still, there seemed to have been no lasting damage to U.S. relations with a country Washington is working closely with on nuclear issues.

Her Kazakh counterpart, Kanat Saudabayev, all but dismissed the matter, telling reporters it amounted to “the normal price” that unfortunately must be paid sometimes in the rough-and-tumble world of diplomacy. He said it would have no lasting effect on relations with the U.S.

The diplomatic path also seemed smooth on her stops in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

She had a harder time dealing with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. He was mentioned in U.S. cables as having profited from close relations with Moscow. One document suggested that the friendship between the Italian leader and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin was so strong and Italy’s dependance on Russian energy so significant that Berlusconi has a “distorted” view of Moscow.

In a meeting with Clinton in Astana during a security conference, Berlusconi complained angrily about the leak, according to Clinton aides who spoke on condition of anonymity to describe the private meeting. He later appeared before reporters with Clinton, and she praised him and his government as valued and long-standing allies.

In Bahrain, Clinton saw a different, perhaps even encouraging, side to the fallout from the leaks.

Bahrain’s foreign minister, Sheik Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, spoke with unusual public candor about his government’s belief that the prospect of a nuclear-armed Iran is so troubling that it has to be stopped. “We can never accept and we can never live with” an Iran that has the capacity to turn enriched uranium into nuclear bombs, he told reporters with Clinton at his side.

He was responding to a question about a secret State Department cable that quoted Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa as privately arguing “forcefully for taking action to terminate their (Iran’s) nuclear program, by whatever means necessary.”

That reflected a view held widely — but rarely voiced publicly — by leaders of the Gulf’s predominantly Sunni Arab rulers, who fear Shiite Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

It might be argued that by lifting the lid on the Gulf Arabs’ candid views on Iran, the leak of the diplomatic cables has emboldened Iran’s nervous neighbors and given more weight to Obama administration arguments on the need for a concerted international effort to isolating Iran and compelling it to change course.

    ——–
I have come to the same conclusion Admin, especially when Nasty and Reid remained on their termite infested perches.
Hillary can’t run for President until her party is purged of the crooks that stole the Primary from her.

Can’t wait to hear what you see in your crystal ball.

    Rock on Admin!!!

  6. Obama made a speech outlining the framework for extending the tax cuts, including an additional 2% payroll tax cut. Fox roundtable was discussing his speech and Amy Stoddard of thehill.com said he was not supposed to disclose the framework until he met with the dems in Congress. A House dem just released a statement that they have not agreed to any tax cut agreement yet? Did Obama try to steal the tax cut announcement from the rest of the party?

  7. Obama is damaged goods. All he does is cry, cry, cry!

McConnell announced a week and a half ago, the WH would go along with the (R’s) across the board Tax cuts not just a Tax cut for the middle class.

Today, Obama, summoning up his last bit of strength, after having endured for the last week and a half, water-boarding by Republicans at his downstairs pool.

finally set free after putting up quite a struggle… with noticeably withered prune like skin, he staggered up the poolside steps to a waiting warm fluffy robe and smiled to waiting press: “I had to do it”
    _________________________

“In a Monday press conference, he said that is still his preference. But faced with opposition from Republicans, he said he was forced to go along with extending cuts to wealthier taxpayers in order to ensure the middle-class cuts stay in place.”

“The American people didn’t send us here to fight symbolic battles, or win symbolic victories,” Mr. Obama said.”

    Hillary called herself a Progressive
    ——-
I think Obama has turned words like ‘liberal’ and ‘progressives’ into dirty words.
I used to think of myself as a liberal, but I took on the term centrist when Barry took over the party…distancing myself from his whackjob spending and turning good policies into crap.

For example: Universal Health Care turned into Obama Hell Care.

  10. ASHINGTON—The White House and Republican lawmakers were close to an agreement on a broad tax package that would extend the Bush-era rate cuts, reduce worker payroll taxes for one year and give more favorable treatment to new business investments.

Other possible elements of the still-developing deal include a temporary reinstatement of the estate tax at 35%—the level favored by most Republican lawmakers—as well as an extension of jobless benefits for the long-term unemployed and temporary tax breaks for students and working families.

Bank Of America Is Worried Next WikiLeaks Dump Will Contain Evidence Of Fraudulent Countrywide Loans

Charlie Gasparino told Shep Smith today that Bank of America has set up a “legal swat team” in case the next big WikiLeak is directed at them.

The official line thus far is that they’ve had “no indication” they’re being targeted, however Gasparino says he’s spoken to a person who claims to have seen some of the bank-related documents and says that while they couldn’t make out how damaging the documents were they “clearly pointed to Bank of America.”

The big fear inside Bank of America, says Gasparino, is that the documents will lead back to (BofA-owned) Countrywide Financial, and show that the subprime loans that Countrywide gave out to high-risk applicants were fraudulent.

“And if these gigabits of memos show that those were fraudulent loans that were given, especially during a housing bubble, Bank of America could be on the hook for billions of dollars. And that’s what the big fear is in Bank of America.”

“These are big ifs, Shepard.” Video below.

When are they going to remember who they are, I still like him, etc.

Fuck you and the horse you rode in on Maher

When are you going to realize that you don’t know as much as you think you do, that you got bamboozled, and you got fleeced like a small town rube then the snake oil sales man’s wagon comes to town. You fucking rube.

I read or heard this somwhere about Bank of America. Banks customarily transfer their mortgages to the Trust, where in turn the Trust forwards them to securities to be offered to hedge fund market tranches as part of a client’s diversified investment portfolio.

In Bank of America’s case, they did not foward their mortgage loans to the Trust; they kept them inhouse; which means… they avoided following federal banking rules and are the direct mortgage holders of billions of mortgage loans. The video I posted with the article does not state what I have said, however the information I received was from a reliable source.

    1. He did not deliver—he never intended to deliver—he was installed to undercut an agenda favoring the American People and this country. He is a big business shill.

    2. She has the agenda and the capacity to deliver. Nobody else in either party can deliver what this country needs to lead us out of this morass. Charlatans need not apply.

    3. She has got to run, so the country can be saved. No imitations will do. It takes a Clinton to clean up after a Bush or an Obama–which is a distinction without a difference.

  23. I can’t help wondering how Barry’s caving to the Rethugs is going over with the obots, here are a couple of comments about it:

    CheetoBoys are pist!

I must say that this “deal” is the last straw for me as far as Obama is concerned. All for the rich and (maybe) crumbs for the rest of us. It’s gone too far.

anybody else making less than around $250k. We were on the receiving end of what was probably the greatest con trick in US history.

Just because they give you a seat at the table doesn’t mean that they want to feed you.

    It is far past the time… (4+ / 0-)

for us to quit begging. The workers of America must rise up, and demand their fair share of the feast. I’m through voting for DINOs. See, I can remember when Republicans respected American workers more than Obama does. He’s no Democrat, he’s not even liberal enough to be an Eisenhower Republican,
    —-

    He’s Captain Cavemanaaaaaaaaaaan! (12+ / 0-)

He caves even before the fight has started!

Let them all expire! Obama is has no spine, and has repeatedly shown us that the only time he will fight is when he is certain he will win. We’ve had battles we almost won, where the deciding factor was the fact that Obama sat on his pampered, privileged ass, and refused to fight for working man.

I’m going to be saying this a lot in the next year or so. The Democrats had damn well better come up with an alternative to Obama. As much as I hate Bush, at least with him I expected to be screwed, and financially, I did better under Bush than I am under Obama. I don’t really see any difference where I live between being ruled from the throne by a Republican or a DINO. If I’m not going to vote for a Republican who is going to screw me, why the fuck should I vote for a so called Democrat whose shown he’ll do just the same.

    Lot’s more…

Now THAT sounds like the sort of effect the LEGITIMATE workers at Wikileaks were intending. If people like BOA and Enron etc etc know there’s a good chance their plans will be made public, maybe they’ll not make such dirty plans.

(One essay I’ve seen by Assange looks at an opposite effect: that the bad guys will tie themselves up in so many extra security precautions that they can’t make any plans at all. 😉 )

I listened to the entirety of the Tarpley link. Will have to give it another run as it was way too much to process in one sitting. But even if a tenth of it is true it is beyond frightening.

When I screamed, begged and groveled to those around me to take a look at waffles and his past — life long friends called me paranoid. I never questioned my opposition to the fraud. I worry that extending the unemployment benefits for 13 months will make him a bit of a hero. Economy sucks but unemployment is supposed to hold you over til you get another job or are called back to work. Those jobs are not coming back.
I lived in a steel town growing up and the late 70’s early eighties were hell. Jobs left because companies said it is cheaper and we can make more money elsewhere. The companies were given incentives and didn’t care about the little guy.

It will never happen but an additional 20% tax on all goods coming into the country works for me and that would include a fee on outsourced jobs in the telecommunications industry.

    How about a marionette, i.e.—

A marionette is a puppet controlled from above using wires or strings (wires being the standard now due to increased durability). A marionette’s puppeteer is called a manipulator.[1] Marionettes are operated with the puppeteer hidden or revealed to an audience by using a vertical or horizontal control bar in different forms of theatres or entertainment venues. They have also been used in films and on television.

  40. admin,
I stood on street corners in the spring of 08 carrying signs and chanting H-I, H-I-L-L-A-R-Y in downtown Pittsburgh. My parents were mortified to see their gay son championing Clinton on the local news as it was okay if I was gay as long as I didn’t make a scene.(I am now 43)I logged hours calling Ohio and PA to get out the vote and Hillary won a resounding victory.
So when I became an openly gay person hell bent on no bambi I was wait for it——- a racist. Confused? So was I — apparently even my homo phop relatives think it is inappropriate to deprive another human being of a chance based on pigmentation but it is okay to deny a person based on ability, experience, intelligence, compassion, integrity, fortitude and stamina?

  41. Marionette is about structure. I’m looking for function.

Shill is about function, but not quite the right function, is it? A shill iirc is someone who loudlly praises a product etc to lead people to it, concealing the fact that he’s being paid. Obama is the opposite: he loudly condemns GOP, bankers, etc but his real job was to lead people AWAY from Hillary and real reform.

“Judas goat” fits somewhat, and several people have made that connection (I haven’t read them):

More like, a figurehead placed in front of a parade to lead it astray, to neuter it….

It doesn’t really matter to what extent he accepted this job knowingly, or to what extent he was duped, or to what extend he was recognized as a weak fool worth supporting.

Julian Assange to be questioned by British police

Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, is expected to appear in a UK court today after his lawyers said he would meet police to discuss a European arrest warrant from Sweden relating to alleged sexual assaults.

As the legal net continued to close around the whistleblowers’ website and the US attorney general, Eric Holder, said he had authorised “a number of things to be done” to combat the organisation, Assange appeared to be reconciling himself to a lengthy personal court battle to avoid extradition to Sweden.

Jennifer Robinson, a solicitor with Finers Stephens Innocent, which represents the Australian freedom of information campaigner, told the Guardian: “We have a received an arrest warrant [related to claims in Sweden]. We are negotiating a meeting with police.”

Another lawyer representing Assange, Mark Stephens, added: “He has not been charged with anything. We are in the process of making arrangements to meet the police by consent, in order to facilitate the taking of that question and answer that is needed. It’s about time we got to the end of the day and we got some truth, justice and rule of law.”

In the primaries in 2008, my wife was on me like crazy to vote for Hillary. She kept saying that Hillary is tough and can stand up to the bullying of the movement conservatives and that Obama just wanted everyone to get along, a pipe dream in Washington. I couldn’t do it though since I had images of Rubin, Summers, Dick Morris, Glass-Steagall repeal, non-dischargable student loans, etc. in my head everytime I said the word Clinton. Alas, she may have been right…Obama has no spine. The tax cuts had no business being renewed, we just lost 3.7 trillion in revenue to rebuild this country and I have to admit to my wife that she was right, Obama just extended the economic policies of George W. Bush.

That site scares the hell out of me!!!!!

I had a gorgeous mistake almost four years ago when I bumped into/slammed into a 5 month old girl that was not being “appreciated” for what she was.

Greatest day of my life. Four years later she is articulate and I hope happy. Her parents drop in when convenient for them. I’ll work with that. I shudder to think that some fat ugly assed puke like Soros is going to be able to dictate the world my little one will live.
I know lots of people here do not like Palin, but I have watched the TLC program and it seems to me that what she emphasizes is work even when the odds are against you. Work, So does Hillary. Crying oh the world is unfair to me gets you no where,

I’ll have to watch Webster tomorrow, but I just have to comment on Oprah’s boobs.

That was a totally hilarious outfit…she must of used some of MO’s designer’s. LOL!

No, seriously though we all heard that Mo had a falling out with Oprah…Mo was jealous of her…well if that’s true then Oprah played hand intelligently! She got to sit right next to the President with her boobs pushed up by hydralic jacks so Bambi couldn’t help but notice….I bet Mo was a beoch to the Potus after that night. ROTFLMAO!! Paybacks are always fun.

It seriously looked like Oprah was showing her stuff to the President if I didn’t know better and all in front of the whole world. What did Mo say about Hillary not being able to take care of her house, the joke was on MO in that pic.

I try very hard to understand where you are coming from.
But I do not get it.
I think you are a very bright person who is capable of expressing yourself very well. I do not believe islam is evil but I do not comprehend how any thinking human being cannot look at what has happened in Europe over the last twenty years and not see that there was intent to alter the basic cultural structure of the societies. Can you honestly deny that there was no intent.

  49. The boyz over at Hillbuzz seem to think the big scandal will be Pigford….I agree, its huge! Pay for votes.

Everynight I listen to the radio on the way home and I hear this black man talk about the “earned income credit”, he says if you havent filed it the government owes 4 thousand dollars and if you haven’t filed it in 3 years they owe you 12 thousand and that’s enough to make you take a step in getting your life together….it gives a number to call.
I guess this is that Obama money he’s been promising for all the cheating and stealing of votes his New Black Panther Party and the NOI has done for him.

  50. henry,

I’m agreeing with you about Palin and Hillary. Pls don’t bring up a subject that hasn’t been talked about for several threads lately.

  51. confloyd
I will be the very first to agree with you that the Earned Income Credit is a complete joke and a raping of the taxpayers dollars but I will also be the first to say that in my experience it has nothing to do with race. The way the system has been set up you do not pay any taxes but can also get up to several thousand dollars as a return if you worked and made some money.

Trust me. The way it works is you claim father unknown on birth certificate. Baby’s daddy uses a different address. You have a couple of kids and claim the same thing. You work part time and maybe make 12000 during the year but you file your taxes as Head of Household and get a 7000 return after paying zero in taxes. You also get free health care, subsidized rent, food stamps and adjusted utilities. Mean while babies daddy lives with you and gets off scot free.
The behavior has zero to do with race it is white and black but it is destructive. The program is called earned income and it is being taken advantage of by those who haven’t earned anything but feel something is owed to them. I just don’t see how that philosophy ever benefits the kid unless you want to create an obama.

  52. confloyd
By the way my knowledge of this comes first hand as having worked for a major tax preparer, the department of Social Services in Suffulk County and as a liason for half way homes.

Riverdaughter wrote a great piece on learned helplessness some time ago. It’s well worth study. “Learned helplessness” was one of the major goals of the CIA’s interrogation program.

A report by Physicians for Human Rights released on Monday claims that U.S. physicians and psychologists betrayed ethical standards by collecting data on detainees’ reactions to abusive interrogations to as to improve their effectiveness. This would appear to constitute experimentation on human prisoners, which is a professional ethics violation for physicians.

  54. It’s funny to listen to Maher make believe he’s relevant to anybody. He sounds like he got hit in the head with a baseball bat. He confesses that he’s an idiot (‘I actually thought the Brahmin black Harvard Law Review editor was a member of the Crips’) but calls independents ignorant. After all the race card rabies from the left, Maher makes the most explicitly racial attack on Obama, outdoing Rush Limbaugh by far. His hypocrisy is so over-the-top, again, Maher is really just confessing that the radical left is nothing but a meaningless, deranged cartel of confusion and fantasy. They can believe any incoherent junk they want because it doesn’t matter. They’ve been universally rejected and they are lost.

Yes, Obama does look beaten down. But the radical left has been beaten senseless.

Admin, you’re absolutely right. The Democrats’ problem is they’ve let this ultra-left wing fungus grow under the kitchen sink. They need to ‘Sista Solja’ the lot of them.

  55. And hasn’t all or most of this happened after Wikileaks was said to have Bank of America data? When it was just US military stuff, this didn’t happen.

I’m not sure all the agencies mentioned below are acting as US vassals, though. They might be vassals of International Banking Cartels or something.

Agency wants to strip key foreclosure protection from Truth in Lending Act

    By Tony Pugh
    McClatchy Newspapers
    Updated: 12/06/2010

WASHINGTON — As Americans continue to lose their homes in record numbers, the Federal Reserve is considering making it much harder for homeowners to stop foreclosures and escape predatory home loans with onerous terms.

The Fed’s proposal to amend a 42-year-old provision of the federal Truth in Lending Act has angered labor, civil rights and consumer advocacy groups along with a slew of foreclosure defense attorneys.

They’re not only asking the Fed to withdraw the proposal; they also want any future changes to the law to be handled by the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which begins its work next year.

In a letter to the Fed’s Board of Governors, dozens of groups that oppose the measure, including the National Consumer Law Center, the NAACP and the Service Employees International Union, say the proposal is bad medicine at the wrong time. …

  57. The earned income tax credit was proposed by Nixon, passed by Ford and DOUBLED by Clinton under Omnibus reconciliation of 1993. It is considered one of the most progressive, politically salable taxes of all time. It has nothing to do with black or white. It’s about getting dollars into the pockets of the lower bracket of WORKING people who will spend them. It’s got a huge multiplier. If you think the EIC is a joke, you find yourself opposed to one of Bill Clinton’s most noted and effective policies.

  58. And for the record, the EIC can pay out about 4k a year depending on your family size and income, remember this cut is only for WORKERS, but refundable tax credits are NEVER something you can get after the fact if you don’t apply for them in the current tax year. They are not retroactive.

  59. I mean, you are talking about a policy Ronald Reagan called the best anti-poverty program ever written. This is one of the most broadly popular policies in history. And, Obama’s meager extension(unlike Bill Clinton who DOUBLED the EIC), would NEVER apply to people who work part time and take advantage of the system because he extended it up.

I oppose Obama’s tax policy because it is a bonanza for the wealthy, but really, there is no need to display such knee jerk reactions to ever single proposal. Get to know your policies a little.

  60. MJ
I am aware of the genesis of the EIC. But I am also aware that it is rife with fraud. I believe that up until last year a person could only have two “qualifying” dependents for the credit so individuals with more than two kids who were already paying zero in taxes sold a third child’s SSN to another. Was defrauding the government the goal? You never hear anyone complain about the EIC from either side of the aisle as that money does work as a spring stimulus every year.

    December 7th, 2010 at 7:23 am

Rife with fraud? 25% of eligible tax payers don’t even apply for it. They are not even aware that according to Congress and the IRS they deserve the break. Well, you are to the far right of Bill Clinton. His EIC is something he considers a huge feather in his cap.

  64. mj.
I am probably a little to the right of WJC. I am comfortable with that. And I like the concept of the EIC – sadly, I take exception with the execution. There are few if any checks built into it. But as I said no one really complains about it from the right or left as the money is often received and spent.

  65. This is a buried headline you won’t see on mainstream, will make you (hopefully) as angry as much as it did me- This is a crime against humanity. Meet Navy-NOAA heads killing millions sea animals

Public meetings about approved Navy 5-year war testing off California coast

Today, Rosalind Peterson reached out to encourage Californians’ participation at two December meetings in which the U.S. Navy and NOAA will address its 5-year Warfare Testing program that includes killing millions of sea animals off the California and Hawaiian coasts. High-tech weapons applied to animals will then be used on humans.

NOAA issued the permit and Letter of Authorization to the Navy, finalized November 12, 2010, part of which is below. It protects no National Marine Sanctuaries, Marine Reserves, Biologically Sensitive Areas and does not stop the Navy from testing new weapons systems (including sonar), during gray whale migrations or salmon migrations.

U.S. Congressman Thompson’s request for the U.S. Navy and NOAA to meet with the public in Mendocino and Humboldt Counties in December 2010 has been accepted.

Peterson writes: “This is to notify everyone that NOAA and the U.S. Navy will be meeting with the public on the issue of the U.S. Navy Warfare Testing activities planned for the NWTRC. U.S. Congressman Thompson has organized these public meetings for residents of both Humboldt & Mendocino Counties. Representatives from Marin County are invited to attend these public events.”

“In the future, these plans can be altered on any date by the U.S. Navy or NOAA placing the information in the U.S. Federal Register. And the Navy does not need to notify anyone, including fishermen or ocean tourists, that these events are underway.”

Furthermore, Peterson highlights, “the NOAA permit requires only Navy reports on its impacts in the NWTRC and relies, according to U.S. Congressman Thompson, upon mitigation measures effective only 9% of the time.”

NOAA held no workshops to determine biologically sensitive areas in the NWTRC during 2010 according to Peterson and the NAVY/NOAA has plans for 2011 sponsored workshops, to be completed by November 2011.

Peterson wants these workshops 1) to be held in Humboldt County, California so her associated marine biologists and scientists can participate and 2) that they be held in January or February 2011, instead of waiting until the end of the 2011, before completion.

No National Marine Sanctuaries, marine reserves or biologically sensitive areas are protected in the ongoing 5-Year Warfare testing now underway in Southern California or Hawaiian Islands according to Peterson.

Below is the letter of authorization for the 2010-2011 war-testing.

  66. More fruit of corruption:
In tax defeat, Dems pay the price for old tricks
You may remember that during the health care debate, when Democrats, having lost their 60th vote in the Senate with the election of Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown, decided to put the final touches on national health care by using the arcane process of reconciliation. That allowed them to pass parts of the bill with a simple majority, 51 votes, rather than the 60 votes required to overcome a GOP filibuster. Republicans cried foul, arguing that reconciliation wasn’t appropriate for such a far-reaching measure. But Democrats pointed out that the Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 — very significant pieces of legislation — were passed using reconciliation. In the end, Democrats got what they wanted. Fast forward to this week. Those Bush cuts are expiring, and Democrats, still the majority party, wanted to extend them for everybody except individuals who make more than $200,000 a year and couples who make more than $250,000. Republicans, who have just 42 votes, wanted to extend all the cuts for all income levels. On Saturday, Democrats were unable to beat a Republican filibuster, and their version of tax cut extension went down to defeat. So why not try reconciliation? If it was used to pass the Bush cuts in the first place, couldn’t it have been used to extend them? That way, Democrats, who have 58 votes, could have passed their bill with just 51 and would not have had to worry about a GOP filibuster. Taxes on the “rich” would go up, and progressives everywhere would be celebrating today.
Alas, it didn’t happen. And, although the details are complicated, the Democrats have only themselves to blame. snip

You bet Soros is connected and responsible for the attack on Hillary!
    …snip…
A few threads ago, when we noticed the third Wikileak was about Hillary ( and why not Obama?) When Obama is the elephant in the room, NOT Hillary. I knew the leak was designed to damage her image for the one and only plausible reason- ruin her chances for a Primary in 2012.
    &&&&

So no wonder Hillary had something forceful to say about the leaks, and Obama? Not-so-much.

Does anyone here know what statements Obama has made about this, and what the press secretary and other administration officials said?

Might anyone know if they were “slow on the uptake”? (that is, not willing to say much at first, but only flushed out of the bushes to make more forceful statements when everyone else had gotten up in arms).

    —————————–
Well put. Let us hope that right about now Obama is sensing the irony of being hated by all sides for their own partisan reasons. By the left for being weak at best and a trojan horse for the republicans at worst. By the right for being a communist the polite form of which is progressive (of the totalitarian sort). And by the center for bring down the United States through Guinness Book incompetence which has been on display from the Somalian pirates episode, to the Gulf Oil Spill, to the miscalculations on health care, to the wiki leaks fiasco. In short, he has been a true inspiration for all, and a messiah who has given everyone something to believe in. Brian Williams types still follow him into the bathroom, but foreign journalist, and for all its faults, FOX are calling the game on him. Historians looking back on his sordid presidency rife with corruption will say that he was the big media candidate, and the fact that the could win with his background of corruption and racism proves what can be achieved by a cadre of journalists who have the moral scruples of Goebbels–they can control the public mind long enough to do grave damage to a country because as Napoleon wisely observed the pen is mightier than the sword. The left vs right swing is a recurrent theme in the history of this country. The Joseph Goebbels model of the press, however, where they hunt you down and try to destroy you if you oppose their candidate, and fill the airways with propaganda is a rather new phenomenon.

  69. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is an Obama creation;
    ————————————————-
Then let their first task be to investigate Obama. That would give them a full agenda, which would serve the public interest/

  70. What the Clinton scandal and the WikiLeaks disclosures have in common is a sad collapse of the mainstream media’s gatekeeper role. Newsweek presumably had good reasons to postpone publication of Isikoff’s story – reasons that Drudge did not share. The Times had good cause to parse the WikiLeaks cache – lives could be in danger – but Assange launched them into cyberspace anyway, not caring if American interests were damaged. In fact, that might have been the whole point.

The natural reaction is to want to pop Assange in some way, possibly by indicting him for violating the totally impractical Espionage Act of 1917 or, in the superheated imaginations of some, by declaring him a terrorist and targeting him for something irrevocable. The trouble with any of this is that you inevitably get entangled with the Times and other newspapers such as The Post, which also has devoted considerable space and talent to the stories. They all enabled Assange to reach a wider audience – raise your hand if you actually visited his Web site – and moreover gave him what amounts to a journalistic Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval: See, this stuff is important.
    ———————
For most of us, history began a couple hundred years ago, and more than one American President had a tryst or two along the way, JFK being the most prominent example, a fact that was hidden by the gatekeepers whom Richard Cohen goes on to laud. Oh there was a time alright when I would have agree with him. In an ideal world gatekeepers serve as a useful filter, and that his important because so much of what comes across the transom anymore is hearsay and lies which can destroy reputations and public confidence in the system. That is well and good IN THEORY. But in no longer works in practice? Why? Because Big Media has traded its role of gatekeeper for access and influence. It has become little more than a revolving door to White House jobs and book deals. And for that reason it has become state media, and censor of the truth. If the American People are to remain the sovereign they must have access to the truth, including what organizations like the New York Times hide from their view to either protect candidates they like or no less to blackmail candidates they do not like. Big media is a clear and present danger to our country, more so than any leaker. That is a broad statement I know, and you or I could think of situations where it is not true, but for the most part experience has shown it is sound. And government needs to behave in a responsible manner and assume that whatever it needs to maintain confidential is adequately protected. Hard cases make bad law, and the regulate the internet based on this affair should be resisted, because that is what is likely to come next from this Administration.

  71. Final thought on the subject for now. The New York Times followed Hillary on the campaign trail and did everything they could to undermine her candidacy. At one point I kept a list of the articles which made her case out to be essentially hopeless after Iowa–the headlines where always negative. Always. And when it came to Sarah, they sent 7 or 17 investigative journalists to Alaska to dig up ANY dirt or anything that could be made to look like dirt about her, and their reporters conspired with Obama people on the ground. All you need to do is read the Ulsterman article posted by Connie to realize how sordid this conspiracy was. Yet Cohen, a member of that group, has the audacity to say that we need these people as gatekeepers because they have “talent” and a commitment to journalism??? I guess when you are in the business of lying, one more lie makes no difference.

“…bookmark Tarpley’s site. He is the real deal and an impeccable source of World History, Foreign Policy and International Finance. He has been involved in Foreign Policy and the history of World leaders for the last 40 yrs.

He is one of the most understated, knowledgeable men I have ever met.”

I agree with your assessment of Tarpley, but must warn you that he is a socialist, judging by his agenda – his proposals to react to and solve the world crisis (e.g. nationalizing the Fed, using created money to relaunch our small and large industries, high value added industries, etc.).

His discussion of the European situation (starting at about 56 minutes in) bears this out. He says the attacks on the Euro are Wall Street’s way of defending the dollar, and pound sterling. He says they eventually want to get to Germany and then to France. France, arguably the world’s most socialized country, seems to be the end of the line for Tarpley, not Germany. He says Sarkozy is “an emperor without clothes” because he has bucked the American elites on a whole range of issues, whereas they originally thought they had a friend in Sarkozy. But, Tarpley says, once you’re elected President, the whole De Gaulle thing begins kicking in and eventually you eventually become President of France.

France has a debt that is 84% of GDP, the last I heard, which is far above the US debt and above many of the sovereign debts of Europe. However, that debt is the asset and liability of owning many of their own companies, a holdover from the Mitterrand era. Insofar as those companies make money, and most of them do, they bring a dividend to the government or can re-invest in themselves. So in the final analysis, the country is just about the most stable in the world, the main reason they fared so well in the recession.

Interesting insights and analysis. It sounds logical but I have nothing to confirm or deny it. Like Britain, France was a colonial power. But its relationship to former colonies, including free health care (correct me if I am wrong) had produced a different kind of relationship. This is probably more true of Africa, since most of Asia has gone in a more independent direction. Do you have an opinion on this and how it differs from the post colonial relationship with Britain. My operating assumption is that the empire may be gone, but its financial vestiges remain in place in re. Britain and the City of London.

  74. Henry,
As far as the advertisement on the radio I hear everynight on the way home being a black guy, that was just a true statement, not that it was a black thing. My own daughter got two sizeable checks when she was dumped by her husband for a younger woman and he sent her no child support for over two years. She had three small children and she worked a full-time job. She had no education, but I helped her get a job as an admitting clerk in the local hospital. When she filed her taxes she got 5 thousand back….she did not use that money unwisely…it helped with her children, but I know many just blow it on drugs and stupid stuff. She used hers wisely. I never got anything like that, in the 80’s before I got my education,my husband was laid off or sometimes only worked a little, we had to pay taxes back then, no free money. Those subsidies need to stop…this country can’t afford this.
This Pigford thing is a travesty and should not be happening. I just can’t understand why reparations are even owed much less being paid for at this point in our history.

  75. If he is right then this is a toxic deal that Obama has cut because it spells the death of social security. The establishment Republicans have bent him over. The real republicans will oppose this deal for that reason. The left are too dumb to spit. If they had any sense they would hold Pelosi’s feet to the fire to kill this in the House.

There are two immutable laws of Washington, D.C. To understand the tax compromise in the Senate, you must know the laws.

Politicians in leadership believe that if they make both the left and right angry they must have done something right; and,
If Democrats and Republicans come together in a compromise — no matter how bad that compromise may be — the media will herald the compromise and inevitably use the word “tone” in discussing it.
Then there is a corollary to the two rules: people who want a seat at the table with the politicians and media will turn into sycophants and tell you how delicious the compromise tastes.

Understanding those two immutable rules and the corollary tell you all you’ll need to understand about how the tax compromise will be played. Let’s review what the compromise is:

Extend current tax rates for two years
Extend unemployment benefit for another 13 months
A two percent cut in the payroll tax for next year
Death tax of 35% imposed above $5 million
We can first laugh about Alan Simpson and Erskine Bowles. After all that work, lecturing, and lamenting they have been, in one act, put back under the rock from whence they came.

There will be no more hand wringing over saving social security and the deficit. We’re going to blow it up. Ironically, we’re going to blow it up to preserve today’s tax rates and resurrect the death tax.

Second, we can laugh at the Democrats who are in full meltdown over the Democrats daring to extend current tax rates for everyone. For all the left’s talk about equality over freedom, the left believes they can treat the most successful with the greatest disdain and take away the freedom to take risks in this country and replace it with servitude to government.

Had Obama shown any leadership, he could have gotten this passed months ago on the grounds that it’d help stem losses in the midterms. But he didn’t, despite pressure from many Blue Dogs who will, in less than a month, be called “former congressman.”

Just last week Mr. Obama said, in his weekly radio address, “I believe we can’t afford to borrow and spend another $700 billion on permanent tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires.” My what a difference a week makes.

Ultimately though, this is a compromise that leaves both sides coming up short and is full of compromising the GOP did not have to engage in, even without controlling the Senate. They could have gotten more. We will also continue subsidizing unemployment — yes you read that right. At some point it becomes welfare, not unemployment compensation.

The compromise does little to stem the tide of uncertainty that has kept businesses from hiring. Because the fight will be wrapped up in the politics of 2012, small businesses that have been keeping money on the sidelines will keep doing so. Any politician who says this has anything to do with job creation will largely be lying.

Nonetheless, we know this much is true: the media, after weeks of taking the Deficit Commission seriously, and many of the politicians who have done the same will celebrate this grand act of bipartisan comity.

For months, the Democrats have said they would never support extending the current tax rates because of their concern for the deficit. They will now.

For months, the GOP has said they would never vote to raise taxes and will now vote to raise taxes by resurrecting the death tax instead of killing it — the only reason being Jon Kyl (R-AZ) wanted to bring it back and has held this position for a while.

For months, both sides have claimed they were committed to saving social security. Instead, they will cut the payroll tax thereby bringing the bankruptcy of social security even closer.

We will know who the real conservatives are in Congress. They’ll be the Republicans who oppose this deal.

    But hey, it is bipartisan!

Maybe we can get Jeff Flake to primary Jon Kyl

  76. This is a buried headline you won’t see on the mainstream news. This news will make you (hopefully) as angry as much as it did me- This is a crime against humanity. If the people of this planet can not STOP this; we don’t deserve to live here-
After reading this article, wonder no more why the Gulf Oil spill cleanup was sitting on the back burner for so long. (It’s all about drilling off shore for Awwl and killing millions of sea animals to get that Awwl and Natural Gas Reserves.)
My hands are trembling just writing about this…. We are the only defenders of the animal life on our planet. When GREED is the driving factor to kill them because they are in the way, not for our survival. God Help Us if this catastrophic event is allowed to go forward.:

Public meetings about approved Navy 5-year war testing off California coast

Today, Rosalind Peterson reached out to encourage Californians’ participation at two December meetings in which the U.S. Navy and NOAA will address its 5-year Warfare Testing program that includes KILLING OF MILLIONS of sea animals off the California and Hawaiian coasts. (High-tech weapons applied to animals will then be used on humans.)

Get that, TESTING- not as collateral damage because of war.

  77. wbb: “…its relationship to former colonies, including free health care (correct me if I am wrong) had produced a different kind of relationship.”

Relationship with the former colonies? You’ve got me there. What has the “free” health care got to do with the former colonies?

One former colony is Algeria, and relations have been strained between the two countries since independence 50 years ago. “There’s no special relationship” there.

As for the west and central African colonies, De Gaulle had them take a vote on independence and only one country voted in favor, but De Gaulle gave them all independence anyway. Relations have been good with all these countries, but I’m not real clear on how financial and economic relationships have fared, especially since the development of the EU and the switch to the Euro. For a long time, west African countries had their currencies pegged to the FRF, but now I think they’re on their own.

The only Asian colonies of note were Indochina, the three countries of which now entertain fairly good ties with France with no dependence in either direction, and New Caledonia, which is now a French department and thus part of France. So the “free” health care system applies in New Caledonia, as it does in the Antilles departments and territories.

“My operating assumption is that the empire may be gone, but its financial vestiges remain in place in re. Britain and the City of London.”

So I don’t think your assumption is fully operational when it comes to France. The important thing to keep in mind, however, is not the relations with former colonies, but relations with the US-UK axis. Since De Gaulle, the French have been “stinking independent” in their relations with the UK and the US. It’s just imprinted in the national mindset and extends from the proverbial man in the street up to the Elysées Palace: Friends yes, vassals no.

  79. President plays cookie monster

    By Michael Graham | Tuesday, December 7, 2010 |

Two years ago, the wristband read WWOD? “What Would Obama Do?” Now it’s “What Can Obama Do?”

Since his election, Barack Obama has gone from “global political Messiah” to “total White House mess.”

It’s so bad that Obama-friendly reporter Mark Halperin in the Obama-friendly Time Magazine describes it this way:

“Liberals believe he is an overcompromising wimp. The business community considers Obama ignorant about markets at best, a socialist at worst. . . The media, after aiding and abetting his ride to the White House, now see the president as incompetent and overwhelmed. The independents and Republicans who backed him for office currently feel he is too liberal and too weak to do the job.”

    Other than that, he rocks!

Obama “fixed” unemployment, and now it’s back up to 9.8 percent. He “fixed” Washington, and suffered the worst Democratic congressional defeat in a century. He “fixed” our foreign policy, and Iran’s going nuclear, North Korea’s shooting at the South, and he flew all the way to Afghanistan and still couldn’t get President Hamid Karzai to take a meeting.

But the guy who can’t stop one Internet jerk from dumping America’s secret documents across the globe finally has an issue he’s ready to handle:

    Your kids’ bake sales.

“A child nutrition bill on its way to President Barack Obama – and championed by the first lady – gives the government power to limit school bake sales and other fundraisers,” the Associated Press reports.

“The legislation, part of first lady Michelle Obama’s campaign to stem childhood obesity. . . directs the Agriculture Department to write guidelines to make those meals healthier.” That includes vending machines and bake sales, which were included at the request of fringe activist groups. “The language is broad enough that a president’s administration could even ban bake sales,” according to the AP.

Iran is mining and processing its own uranium, Julian Assange is (as of this writing) roaming Europe with some of our most sensitive secrets, and what’s Obama doing?

Taking on the schoolyard cookie cartel. Brilliant.

Who woke up this morning and said, “Boy, I wish the federal government would do something about all those Rice Krispy treats in my kid’s lunchroom!” Anyone?

America doesn’t need a Bake Sale Czar. But we’re stuck with a Kid’s Meal Presidency: An empty box without much of value in it, and a lame “prize” that breaks the first time you use it.

I predict we’ll see more initiatives like giving the government the power to ban bake sales in the future, part of the incredible shrinking Obama presidency.

President Clinton famously shifted his focus to “small-ball” policies as a political strategy. Get people talking about school dress codes instead of his health care failure and tax hikes.

Obama, on the other hand, is stuck with small initiatives because nobody trusts him with the big ones. He’s already lost the debate over the economy – tax cuts are in, “stimulus” is out. The debate over the next two years will be over how much of Obamacare will be undone. All of it, or just most of it?

Which leaves Team Obama counting cookie sales at your local school cafeteria and cutting ribbons on make-work jobs projects.

Not much of a presidency for these trying times, but then again, Obama’s not much of a president.

  80. Is Obama even worth saving?

    By DOUG THOMPSON

Barack Obama today stands alone — a President without a party that supports him, an electorate that no longer trusts him and and destroyed coalition of independents that feel abandoned and betrayed.

It will take more than slick politics to save Obama’s President. It will take more than an unifying national tragedy. It will take a miracle — the kind of miracle that just doesn’t happen in today’s volatile political environment.

Ironically, the man credited just two years ago with all but destroying the Republican Party is now blamed by Democrats and independents with bringing that party back from near death to the new majority in the House and one poised to recapture the Senate and White House in 2012. Democratic senior advisers privately tell Capitol Hill Blue that Obama should consider bowing out in 2012.

How it happened is a case study of people theory versus reality while the rise of a volatile, activist electorate with no firm political allegiance means candidates of diverse views can win elections as long as they run primarily against the status quo.

Conservative Republicans and liberal Democrats — driven by tapping the same voter anger against the “corruption in Washington” unseated incumbents or beat the hand-picked heir apparent of standard party leadership. And while the influx of newcomers from the Tea Party is mostly part of the Republican Party, the anger that brought them to Washington is philosophical, not political, and a new crop of Tea Party hopefuls in 2012 could well fun against the GOP.

And a unifying factor for the right and the left, the conservative and the liberal or the Democrat and the Republican will be one man: Barack Obama — he progressie who wasn’t, the leader who isn’t and the President who ain”t.

Obama has managed to alienate more factions than Jimmy Carter and generates more animosity than George W. Bush. He is a President without portfolio, a leader without followers and a head of state of a state that many consider a headlesss horseman galloping headlong towards disaster.

Mark Halperin, writing in Time, notes:

The coalition that got Barack Obama elected President just two years ago has been shattered. Gaming out the trajectory of the next two years can be done any number of ways, but Obama’s efforts to rebuild a politically robust alliance will be the most telling. It may be the biggest challenge of his career – and he will need happenstance along with skill if he is going to get it done.

A survey of the political landscape shows that many groups who were part of the 2008-09 Obama coalition have turned on him. Liberals believe he is an overcompromising wimp. The business community considers Obama ignorant about markets at best, a socialist at worst (O.K., some business people entertain an even harsher assessment). The media, after aiding and abetting his ride to the White House, now see the President as incompetent and overwhelmed. The independents and Republicans who backed him for office currently feel he is too liberal and too weak to do the job. These trends are all worse in Washington and among opinion leaders than they are in the country at large, but the views of elites are clearly shaping how the President is perceived by the nation in general.

It’s not often that one sees an American President without a country but it not appears we have one.

  81. Mrs. Smith – I am enraged!!!!!!!!

approved Navy 5-year war testing off California coast

Is there one site with all this information on it? I would like to pass it on to Greenpeace, the Gov. and any other sites I can find that will hopefully spread the word to stop this.

This makes me crazy and livid.

  82. I found the page Mrs. Smith – thanks for the heads up.
I will try passing it around and posting on Facebook.

  83. Mrs. Smith,
That is sickening…all our whales and dolphins….all on Odumbo’s watch with full service media at his service. BTW, Assauge has been arrested!

  84. Relationship with the former colonies? You’ve got me there. What has the “free” health care got to do with the former colonies?
    ———————–
You may have lived in France or spent more time there than the week which I spent in Paris roughly 15 years ago. I was told at that time is that residents of former French colonies were eligible for free health care when they were in France. That may be true of other visitors as well, but I understood it to mean that it was an artifact of the colonial period. In some respects it would be consistent with socialist concept which you have identified, if it is true.

  85. “My operating assumption is that the empire may be gone, but its financial vestiges remain in place in re. Britain and the City of London.”
    —————————-
This point was not directed at France but at Britain. Mea culpa if it was inartfully drafted. The question I would like your opinion on is whether the City of London financial interests still have a financial grip over the economies of the former colonies in the third world. We know in the case of developed countries like Canada and Australia that the ties are still there but it is more of a partnership. I just don’t know about the less developed counties. I would expect that Rhodesia–now Zimbawae has cut their ties thanks to Mugamabe, but that the still exist in South Africa–although Dutch interests would also be present. I have no personal knowledge on any of this, and thought I would ask in the event that you do. I do know that when we did research on Soros there was evidence that the British finacial interests exert great control over many countries in the world, but the sources we used were more limited than I would like.

  86. This is too juicy not to post. If you look at memeorandum site right now, you will see this at the top of the page:
    ——————–
    Joe Biden / Washington Post:
Obama: On the way to a failed presidency? — Ronald Reagan famously quipped that the Democratic Party left him before he left the party. Like many progressive supporters of Barack Obama, I’m beginning to have the same feeling about this president. — Consider what we’ve seen since …
Link Search: IceRocket, Google, and Ask
    +
    ————————

But it is a HILARIOUS’ mistake on the memerandum site’s part (are were they really joking?!). It is actually an article by Katrina Vanden Heuvel (not Biden) at WaPO dumping on Obama.

Ronald Reagan famously quipped that the Democratic Party left him before he left the party. Like many progressive supporters of Barack Obama, I’m beginning to have the same feeling about this president.

{Meme will correct it but Althouse has a screen grab}.

  87. It’s not often that one sees an American President without a country but it not appears we have one.
    —————————
It is hardly surprising that the man who placed himself above his country, courted its enemies, confounded its friends, and dissed the American People, would find himself in a position where he regarded as a man without a country. But the greatest mistake is in believing that the problem is just him. The problem is the string pullers, and if they are forced to put him back in the box after four years, they will still be there, finding other ways and other surrogates to loot the American People. If Obama did not exist they would have to invent him, and truth to tell–they did.

  88. I don’t know if any of you keep up with CW, but there is a complete new set of people running the dept of vital statistics in Hawaii, now that Neil Abercrombie is Governor. He has fired everyone in the dept.
I knew when Neill was running for Governor what the purpose was…is to put in the right folks to cover for Obama’s records. Neill is the only one who says he’s met Obama’s mother and grandmother and knew them in Hawaii….its quiet unusual that now Neill is the governor and is firing people at the bureau of Vital Statistics. When is the freaking media ever going to cover this crap? Obama could get away with murder…and it would not be report…WHY? Why is this sob so freaking important?

  89. Shadowfax

We have Fire Depts that rescue cats from trees and telephone poles. We cherish land mine finding dogs saving lives keeping our troops safe. Clearing the way for offshore drilling and OIL?

I hope you have friends on Twitter. This travesty has to go viral until the mainstream is so overwhelmed they are forced to report it on the morning and evening news.

  90. wbb: “…residents of former French colonies were eligible for free health care when they were in France. That may be true of other visitors as well, but I understood it to mean that it was an artifact of the colonial period. In some respects it would be consistent with socialist concept which you have identified, if it is true.”

There has been a pretty constant gripe about immigrants (not visitors – that doesn’t really exist) from former African colonies taking advantage of the social system in France. The gripe comes mainly from the far-right ‘Front National’ and is directed against Arabs because they don’t like Arabs (hangover from Algeria).

Furthermore, the gripe, to the extent that there’s any truth in it, is not about health care but about ‘Family Allocations’, which is assistance granted to large families (since the time of the Monarchy). Few French families are large now, but Arabs will immigrate and then (legally) bring their families in after themselves, sometimes including several wives and many children, thus qualifying for large family status and Family Allocations. Then they go on unemployment and continue to collect.

The debate about this in France is something like the debate about Islamic terrorists in the US – there are a few true and upsetting stories that can be told and then, in the collective conscious, people will generalize to all Arabs.

For example, I read a story this year about a muslim in Nantes who made good money as a hallal butcher. The story was that he had 4 wives, 3 of them French, and owned 4 houses (one for each wife) with a total of, iirc, 7 children and more on the way. Nothing could be done about this man, legally, to have him deported or fined or charged extra for the social services. The only thing that could be said was that the 2nd, 3rd and 4th wives were not wives but concubines and, since there is strictly-controlled probate in France, neither those wives nor their children would get any inheritance if the man kicked the bucket. Also, since health care is not “free” but an insurance system, he or the wives would have to pay their share for coverage. But nothing could be done about the ‘Family Allocations’ – the man collects €2500 per month for all the kids.

  91. ‘Don’t be surprised if, in 2012, Obama runs on repealing Obamacare.’ LoL

I don’t do twitter but I put it on Facebook and am connected with many PUMAs, asking them to pass the word.

There is NO FREAKin’ EXCUSE for this carnage, none!

  93. In which case, don’t be surprised if 58% of the electorate votes for him–again. Meanwhile, the full court press by his fans in Big Media (CNN, NBC and ABC all in denial, and knowing that IF the Republicans get in, they will lose their precious access and influence for which they sold their souls), plus the Diebold machines, the sos project, plus boots on the ground should be good for another 50% the way they count. Remember the rule of the Obama Justice Department: if the victims are white, voter fraud and intimidation at the polls is not actionable. Translation: eight more years. Of course this is the worst case scenario. Short of that at this point it appears that Plouffe has his work cut out for him, but he knows full well that nobody ever lost an election underestimating the intelligence of the American People in general and the loony left in particular.

  94. “Remember the rule of the Obama Justice Department: if the victims are white, voter fraud and intimidation at the polls is not actionable.”

    ————–
    The liar’s golden rule.

  95. wbb: “…whether the City of London financial interests still have a financial grip over the economies of the former colonies in the third world.”

You have mentioned several cases where these ties do indeed still exist. The financial stranglehold on the third world now comes from the World Bank, which lends stupendous amounts of money to third-world countries in a ponzi scheme much like the sub-prime rape system: some little poor country gets billions from the World Bank to build roads to nowhere, letting the elites cream off bribes for themselves and leaving the country with no means of repaying. The country is then totally in the grips of the financiers.

This system of gaining total control by lending (and eventually losing – who cares? It’s not their money!) large sums of money was the way Wall Street drained every last penny out of the lower middle class in the US, and they intend to do the same thing with European countries. This conquest of Europe started with Greece, Spain, Portugal and Ireland, and Wall Street intends to run through every European country they can; but for Tarpley, the end of this line in Europe is France, Germany is only a waypoint.

My point about French holdings in their own companies is that France has been a target for a long time, and Wall Street is not going to get it. They will let the EU fall down around their ears, but they will hold out because Wall Street does not have a handle on their economy: governments left and right for the last 40 years have seen to that.

The American meme, held wittingly by Wall Street and unwittingly by the American people, is that the French debt is “other people’s money” used to pay for their bankrupt social system. As I’ve explained in recent posts (mainly with nomobama), the social system as a whole is not bankrupt even if the retirement system is under siege, and what I explained above is that the debt is not “other people’s money” but the liability of partial or total state ownership of many companies, which is both a source of dividends/investment and a guarantee that the US/UK axis will never gain a foothold in the French economy.

Maxine Waters to request investigation of Ethics Committee
    By Rachel Rose Hartman
    – 2 hrs 44 mins ago
Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters is planning to turn the tables on the House Ethics Committee. The longtime Southern California lawmaker says she’s preparing to call for an investigation into the committee itself after its reported mishandling of her case.

News sources report that Waters will offer a “privileged resolution” Tuesday asking Speaker Nancy Pelosi to appoint a bipartisan task force to investigate the committee’s activities in relation to her case. Waters is under investigation for advocating on behalf of banks with connections to her husband.

The committee recently sent her case back to the investigative stage, and is now seeking to establish why no documents from the Financial Services Committee were submitted. Two attorneys for the committee were recently placed on administrative leave in connection with the case.

NBC has excerpts of Waters’ resolution here.

  98. Obama’s Approval Rating Dips Below George W. Bush’s

The news here is that Dubya’s approval rating has risen. If Ø is at 46%, it means his approval rating has risen too. Not to discount the poll, but my rating for both these jerks is a flat zero.

  99. “If they still don’t know the difference between a coward and a paid puppet running the country into the ground for corporate-banking interests; they are beyond help.”

Mrs. Smith, it’s a matter of them having to admit they have egg on their faces. Consider the two possibilities:

    1) Barack Obama is a coward. This allows them to cast themselves, his loyal supporters, as Cruelly Deceived Idealists who Only Wanted Puppies and Rainbows for All.

    2) Barack Obama is a puppet. This one will only allow them to cast themselves as fools, and malicious ones at that. It also has the added complication that, unless they work overtime — which they are doing — to cast Hillary Clinton as Evil Incarnate, they didn’t just make the wrong choice. They destroyed the right choice as well. That’s two offenses laid at their feet: fellating the Wrong One, and stabbing the Right One.

They would rather say he’s a coward, because it gives them an inroad to a far more complimentary narrative for themselves. They weren’t stupid, manipulated assholes but oh-so-cruelly used puppy-lovers.

It’s all about what will let them think the most delusional (and complimentary) things about themselves.

U.S. Ends Push to Renew Israeli Freeze on

    By MARK LANDLER
    December 7, 2010

WASHINGTON — After three weeks of fruitless haggling with the Israeli government, the Obama administration has given up its effort to persuade Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to renew an expired freeze on the construction of Jewish settlements for 90 days, two senior officials said on Tuesday.

The decision leaves Middle East peace talks in limbo, with the Palestinians refusing to resume negotiations absent a settlement freeze and the United States struggling to find another formula to bring them back to negotiations. It is the latest setback in what has proved to be a tortuous engagement for President Obama.

Officials said the administration decided to pull the plug because it concluded that even if Mr. Netanyahu persuaded his cabinet to accept an extension — which he had not yet been able to do — the 90-day negotiating period would not have produced the progress on core issues that the administration originally had hoped for.

“There were different expectations on the terms of moratorium, the issues to be discussed during the moratorium, and what would happen after the moratorium expired,” said a person briefed on the decision.

The administration’s abrupt decision could also fray relations with Israel. The United States had offered Mr. Netanyahu a lucrative package of security and other incentives to agree to a 90-day extension. Mr. Netanyahu could face renewed pressure from the United States and the Palestinians as the hurdle to resumed talks.

Administration officials did not immediately offer a Plan B, even though Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was expected to sketch out new American proposals in a speech on Friday at the Brookings Institution.

An’ if sometimes our conduck isn’t all your fancy paints,
    Why, single men in barricks don’t grow into plaster saints;
While it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Tommy, fall be’ind”,
But it’s “Please to walk in front, sir”, when there’s trouble in the wind,
There’s trouble in the wind, my boys, there’s trouble in the wind,
O it’s “Please to walk in front, sir”, when there’s trouble in the wind.

Don’t worry. In no time at all they will fall in line behind Greg Sergent who wrote a post calling Obama the adult-in-chief. People like him never cease to amaze me (not in a good way).

  115. I wonder when the Dimocrats are going to finally realize they were all duped and turn on the corrupt leadership that destroyed our party?

Maybe only when they are out of their ‘job’.

Obama Administration Throws Liberals in Congress Under the Bus

The Obama Administration blamed Congress today for not fighting hard enough against Republicans on extending the Bush tax cuts.
    ABC News reported:

Vice President Biden heads to Capitol Hill today to lobby Senate Democrats to support the tax cut compromise, as President Obama faces criticism from congressional Democrats that he should have fought more for the Bush tax cuts on the middle class, and against the cuts for wealthier Americans.

The White House has two arguments for what they acknowledge are “frustrated” Democrats:

    1) We wanted a fight on these tax cuts, and Congressional Democrats never took up the charge and held a vote;

    2) This is a good deal — and we weren’t willing to let taxes go up on middle class Americans, or to deprive the unemployed of insurance benefits, just to prove a political point.

“We wanted a fight, the House didn’t throw a punch,” a senior White House official tells ABC News, pointing out that for months before the 2010 midterm elections, President Obama was making the case against the Bush tax cuts for wealthier Americans. “The House wouldn’t vote before the Senate, and the Senate was afraid they’d lose a vote on it.”

“It was like the Jets versus Sharks except there weren’t any Jets,” the official said. “Senator Schumer says he wants a fight? He couldn’t hold his caucus together.”

  117. Obama Must Step Aside — No Second Term

    [snip]

Today we sit on the precipice staring at the ninth deserving member of the Presidential Rejection Club. That would be President Barack Obama. As I believed Lyndon Johnson when I was a young man, I made the same mistake 44 years later. I believed Barack Obama in 2008. I supported his bid for the Democratic nomination over other, arguably more qualified, Democrats because I heard what Barack Obama said he would do “when I become the President of The United States of America” – and I believed him. Change we can believe in? I thought so. I put my money where my heart was (even if it had been someone else’s heart before me). Barack Obama was the first Democrat, the first non-independent candidate, I voted for, for President, since I cast my first ballot for LBJ in 1964. Fool me once… fool me twice.

Candidate Barack Obama said he favored “single payer, universal health care.” Candidate Barack Obama said that once elected President he would “close the prison at Guantanamo Bay” within one year. Candidate Barack Obama, who had said so many times that George Bush’s war in Iraq was “a war that never should have been waged” and who proudly proclaimed his opposition to the Senate vote authorizing that war (a resolution Hillary Clinton voted for and never expressed regret for and suffered for as Hubert Humphrey had before her), promised that as President he would withdraw American forces within sixteen months. Candidate Barack Obama also said that the war in Afghanistan was “justified.” It was the war “we should win.” Candidate Barack Obama criticized the Bush administration’s policies on such national security issues as torture, warrantless wiretaps and other secret surveillance techniques. Candidate Barack Obama – himself a former professor of Constitutional Law – promised to restore constitutional principles, ending such Bush/Cheney abuses as extraordinary rendition, “enhanced interrogation” and legal obstacles to basic justice like the imposition of the State Secrets defense in federal court. And Candidate Barack Obama promised – over and over again, in front of huge, cheering crowds all across America – to “eliminate the Bush tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans.” Among Obama’s most eloquent and repeated campaign speech lines dealt directly with this vital economic issue. “They don’t need it” he said, speaking of the millionaires and billionaires who had fed furiously at the public troth under the special guidance of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, “And they haven’t asked for it.” That’s what candidate Barack Obama said. And I believed him.

Some seventy million Americans also believed him, and we all voted for him. Our votes made candidate Barack Obama “the President of the United States of America.” We were sure he was the one we had been waiting for.

We were wrong. Its time we admitted it. And its time we did something about it.

It takes a while to produce a viable Presidential candidate. We have two years until the next election. The time is now for liberals, progressives, thinking independents, and all Democrats to tell the President he no longer deserves our support, and no longer has it; that he will not get our money again; and that we will not vote to reelect him in 2012. If we start now there’s time for a reliable, truthful, electable liberal-progressive Democrat to emerge. The President must step aside and not run for a second term. If he insists on running, and if he’s successful in being nominated, Barack Obama deserves to become the ninth sitting President not reelected.

And who was the best candidate then?
And who is even more experienced now?

  118. OkieAtty, the title was not intentional. However, our crystal ball works even when we are not aware the crystal ball is working. 🙂

“check one off the list” – you’re bad. 🙂

  119. A pal of mine on FB was doing the woe is me, EE died bullshit game and I said sad day for her kids but she used her illness for sympathy votes. Obviously, my pal never read Halperin or Young’s books on what a witch she was. I fucking hate revisionist bullshit history. That bitch did more to cost HRC the nomination than anyone else by ordering that dipshit egomaniac of a dirty-dicked hubby of hers to stay in the race.

Still feel sorry for her kids but I bet much of that state is sleeping peacefully tonight.

  120. . But I’m not sure there’s a script aimed at destroying AMerica.

I guess it depends on how important “intent” is considering that the final result is the same. Do I think that there is a secret cabal pulling the strings to make the US a Third Word Country? NO. Do I think that there are economic interests who are pulling strings to maximize their profits and don’t care if that results in the US becoming Third World Country? Yes. Will people living in this country 50 years from now give a shit about the motives of the people who put them in poverty? I doubt it.

I was trying not to expess that, being CHRISTMAS and all…however, you are right and I don’t know WTF she was thinking when she did it..all the lies, back stabbing…

  122. I am not a fan of extending the unemployment benefits. I wish that they had been given 3 months more with an edict that it was final. Three years of unemployment? Nothing but underminding any perceived motivation and an enlarged population on the Gov handout, that would be you and me paying the bill.

We both stand of the opposite side of the fence on this issue.
    —-
The number of unemployed persons was 15.1 million in November. The unemployment
rate edged up to 9.8 percent; it was 9.6 percent in each of the prior 3 months.
    (See table A-1.)

Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rates for adult men (10.0 per-
cent), adult women (8.4 percent), whites (8.9 percent), and Hispanics (13.2 per-
cent) edged up in November. The jobless rate for blacks (16.0 percent) showed
little change over the month, while the rate for teenagers declined to 24.6 per-
cent. The jobless rate for Asians was 7.6 percent, not seasonally adjusted. (See
    tables A-1, A-2, and A-3.)

Since only people that had a job and were laid off can collect unemployment, I don’t see the Republican idea that 15+ million people are all too lazy to look for a job.

Are there 15+ million jobs sitting out there that these lazy ass people refuse to take, and sit home and somehow support themselves on $1000/month, (give or take a small amount as an average)?

A free hand out, sorry but that is just ridiculous. So what if a person you know is lazy, or someone in the next town is lazy…do you really think all these people prefer their lazy ass life now to having a job and possibly health insurance working for a living?

Sorry, but this makes me crazy. (PS, I am and have worked full time all my life, I support my son and we are barely making it these days.

I am happy to pay taxes for this situation, unlike paying taxes for 99% of all the crap we have to support.

    More Health Waivers
5:30 am December 7, 2010, by Jamie Dupree

The Obama Administration has quietly granted even more waivers to one provision of the new federal health reform law, doubling the number in just the last three weeks to a new total of 222.

One of the more recognizable business names included on the newly-expanded list of waivers issued by the feds is that of Waffle House, which received a waiver on November 23 for health coverage that covers 3,947 enrollees.

Another familiar name was that of Universal Orlando, which runs a variety of very popular resorts in the Orlando, Florida area. Universal was given a waiver for plans that cover 668 workers.

These waivers deal with limited health benefit plans, sometimes referred to as “mini-med” policies, which companies as large as McDonald’s use for some its employees.

The plan have limits on how much can be paid out in coverage, limits which would be phased out under the new health reform law.

The feds though have granted waivers from that law, amid concern that certain groups would drop their health insurance programs entirely. Those waivers are good for one year, and can be considered for renewal.

A spokeswoman for Waffle House refused to explain the need for the waiver, saying “because Waffle House is a private company, we are going to decline to comment.”

As for Universal Orlando, a spokesman defended the waiver in an email on Monday evening.

“The new legislation would have left our part-time workers without their medical coverage,” said Tom Schroder of Universal Orlando Public Relations.

“We sought the waiver so that we could continue to provide them with the coverage they need and deserve,” Schroder added.

The information on the waivers, which is buried deep on the web site of the U.S. Health & Human Services Department, shows that since it was last updated in mid-November, the number of waivers issued has gone from 111 to 222, covering organizations as diverse as the “Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Ogdensburg” to the “Pearson Candy Company.”

You can find a list of all of the 222 waivers at http://is.gd/iiw3u

Several weeks ago, critics singled out a number of unions which had received government approval for exemptions from certain provisions of the law dealing with annual medical spending limit requirements.

And there are more unions who have received waivers in this latest batch, like the Bricklayers Local 1 of MD, VA and DC, the United Food and Commercial Workers Union in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, the Indiana Teamsters Health Benefits Fund, Service Employees International Union Local 1 Cleveland Welfare Fund, and more are listed.

The waivers are also going to a number of average sounding companies like Telesis Management Corporation, Trans-System Inc., Varsity Contractors Inc. and Moore’s Retread & Tire of the Ark-La-Tex, Inc.

One of the central selling points for supporters of the federal health reform law was that it would prohibit health insurance companies from setting limits – yearly or lifetime – on how much in benefits could be paid out under a health insurance policy.

Last week in a Senate hearing, a McDonald’s official defended such limited benefit plans, aruging that they were well tailored to the employees who purchased them.

“McDonald’s works hard to make sure that its employees understand the coverage limitations as well as the benefits provided by these plans. All of the documentation provided to employees details the limited nature of the coverage,” said Rick Floersch, the Vice President for Human Resources at the hamburger chain.

In his prepared testimony, Floersch said that “approximately 90% of covered employees do not reach the annual limit for these benefits.”

But arguments like that did not sway Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), who criticized McDonald’s and other companies for burying the nitty-gritty details of the limited health care coverage for employees in the fine print of the health care brochures.

“More than a million Americans wake up and go to work every day thinking they have health insurance. But they don’t,” said Rockefeller.

The waivers seem likely to draw hearings in the House next year for a different reason, as Republicans demand to know why Democrats would push so hard for health reform legislation, only to see the feds issue several hundred waivers from some of the details.
