Manchin (D) wins in West Virginia (a two year term only) which probably kills the possibility of a Senate takeover but Manchin will be a very conservative Dim vote. Kosimas (D) loses in Florida. Alan Grayson (D) loses. Todd Young (R) wins big in Indiana.

———————————————————————————–

Update II: Marco Rubio (R) wins in Florida. Coons (D) beats O’Donnell in Delaware. McMahon (R) loses in Connecticut to Blumenthal. Kelly Ayotte (R) new Senator from New Hampshire. Roy Blunt (R) wins in Missouri. Lynch (D) stays Governor of New Hampshire.

Update I: Rand Paul (Kentucky) and Dan Coats (Indiana) are now U.S. Senators. Both are pickups from Dimocrats.

————————————————————————————–

In 2008 Democrats could have had it all. An experienced candidate who appealed to the White Working Class and to African-Americans as well as every other Democratic base group. She was ready from Day 1.

But the Democratic “leadership” gifted the nomination to Barack Obama – an inexperienced, unqualified Chicago stooge for the worse thugs in America. Big Media slit it’s throat too for the benefit of Barack Obama.

Many Democrats, used to always voting Democratic, went along and voted for someone they did not know. Many Republicans, exhausted with defending George W. Bush and tired of governing went along with their leading “intellectuals” and voted for someone they did not know. Many Independents, full of Hope for Change, voted for someone they did not know.

Now Democrats, Republicans, and Independents know Barack Obama.

Those that enabled Barack Obama will tonight watch as a great wave sweeps their world. It’s a wave they created. The maniacs blew it all up.

“God Damn You all to Hell!”

* * * * * *

It’s a referendum on Obama. We’ll be updating this post all night. Our comments section will have additional information. We’ll check with some of the smarter election discussions on the Right side of politics (of which there are many on this celebration night for Republican/conservative Americans) as well as those on the Left.

Already the exit poll numbers are coming out and along with anecdotal evidence they are not good for Obama Dimocrats (youth vote, AA vote down).

Polls in Kentucky and Indiana have closed. At 7:00 polls close in Georgia, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, and parts of Florida. We’ll have updates all night long.

“Fasten your seat belts… it’s going to be a bumpy night.”

    Exit Polls: Record Conservative Turnout
    —Ace

    Should be a good night.

Also, on Drudge, the exit polls say some Senators are now former Senators. But this is what you figured:

Arkansas: Boozman (R) defeats Lincoln (D)
Ohio: Portman (R) defeats Fisher (D)
North Dakota: Hoeven (R) defeats Potter (D)
Wisconsin: Johnson (R) defeats Feingold (D)

OH and WI were sorta close, I guess, but we already assumed those wins. It will be interesting to see the margin — if it’s greater than the 8% we were figuring, it’s on like Donkey Kong.

  2. My mama always said, “Dance with the one that brought ya”…the Clinton’s took us to the dance and the Dem’s danced with he Devil…Today, we give the Devil his due…

  3. Drudge Exit : Illinois

    49/43 to Kirk

Kick in the ass for bambi if validated. The President lost his own seat.

  4. Too Aweseome: Murkcokeski’s Husband To Princess Lisa, Um How Do You Spell Your Name?
    —DrewM.

UPDATE: Awwww, the Anchorage Daily News left out that the NY Times Reporter thought he was joking.

    BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

…as the Murkowski family showed up at the poll to, presumably, write in the incumbent’s name on their ballots. First, Sen. Lisa Murkowski left her ID in the car; then, Murkowski’s husband, Verne Martell, asked from his voting booth, “Hon, how do you spell your last name?”
All I can say about that is BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  6. Gonzo!

I am laighing so hard I’m crying!
    REPOST:

I voted around ten this morning and the firehouse parking lot was packed!

Later, I went north, toward Albany, to interview someone for a non-election related story in a Stewarts shop and who walks in but Scott Murphy.

    He didn’t look too happy.

I’ve been hearing Gibson has a great shot.

I’m going out to buy a bottle of wine even though I’m not supposed to drink.

I have to report on the Albany senate race later. It’s gonna be hard for Domenici to unseat Breslin but miracles are happening today!

  7. I LOVE that Bette Davis scene!

Perfect clip for what could be a near perfect evening. Now if the dims lose Delaware I swear I’m gonna drink the whole bottle of Pinot Grigio I just bought.

  8. I have always loved Betty Davis and she may have been our greatest actress.Love, love that line!

Fox is saying we may not reach majority in Senate… didn’t think so, but fingers crossed

  9. HillaryforTexas,

I know what you mean but I think this is one night he might be right.

Besides, the HL just looks so GREAT!

  10. I am surprised they called Paul cause I looked at the tally supposed to be up to the minute and he is behind…must be wrong

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/0_(number)#History_of_zero

The oldest known text to use a decimal place-value system, including a zero, is the Jain text from India entitled the Lokavibhâga, dated 458 AD. This text uses Sanskrit numeral words for the digits, with words such as the Sanskrit word for void for zero.[21] The first known use of special glyphs for the decimal digits that includes the indubitable appearance of a symbol for the digit zero, a small circle, appears on a stone inscription found at the Chaturbhuja Temple at Gwalior in India, dated 876 AD.[22][23] There are many documents on copper plates, with the same small o in them, dated back as far as the sixth century AD, but their authenticity may be doubted.[9]

The Hindu-Arabic numerals and the positional number system were introduced around 500 AD, and in 825 AD, it was introduced by a Persian scientist, Khwarizmi,[6] in his book on arithmetic. This book synthesized Greek and Hindu knowledge and also contained his own fundamental contribution to mathematics and science including an explanation of the use of zero.

It was only centuries later, in the 12th century, that the Arabic numeral system was introduced to the Western world through Latin translations of his Arithmetic.

  12. http://www.nationalreview.com/campaign-spot/252044/ohio-republicans-their-turnout-figures

A plugged-in, diehard Republican in Ohio: “My county chairman told me that by midday 35 percent of the Republicans had voted, only 15-16 percent of Democrats; and the University of Dayton, which had turned out 80-90 percent in 2008, was only at 12 percent at midday. And in our district, our strongest period is after 5 p.m.. Gonna be a looooong night for the Dems here.”

  13. I am thinking, the Dems that can’t bring themselves out to vote AGAINST a Dem tonight, will in 2012 if Hillary is not on the ticket

  14. Just voted and see the torches are burning down the House.

Nomobama – you got yer vote, it was really hard but a promise is a promise.

I wonder if someone bought Barry a carton of smokes to get though the night, and PepBoys upped MO’s credit.

Karma is taking place right now!!

  15. Here in N. Calif the poll was packed. They said turnout was higher than expected where I live. This is a blue area but not necessarily obot land.

  20. Democrats Already Taking Legal Action

    by Gretchen Gailey | November 02, 2010

    Print Email Share 0 Comments

Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Chairman of the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, says the DSCC is already taking legal action in some areas across the country.

In Bridgeport, Ct., Democrats are looking for an hour-long extension in that precinct since polling stations ran out of ballots. According to the Connecticut Mirror, the registrars of voters sent police officers with photocopied ballots to the stations, but some voters left without voting. Photocopied ballots can be used in an emergency, but they must be counted by hand.

And in Illinois, the DSCC has filed Freedom Of Information Act requests to take a look at provisional ballots. According to Illinois law, if a voter requests an absentee ballot and does not use it, they are allowed to go and vote by provisional ballot. However, according to Menendez some were turned away.

“In certain counties, those individuals have been stopped from voting, and we want that to be clear that they’re allowed to vote and we want their votes to count,” Menendez said.

I put the parrots to bed early, filed my feature stories and I am ready to wallow in the joy of seeing the dim ship sink.

Right now O’Donell taking Delaware is winning followed closely by Franks, Reid and Pelosi losing.

    ********

Just Like A Kid At Christmas

    T’were just days before midterms
    And through Hillary’s lair
    Her people were waiting
    And saying a prayer.

    We’re waiting, just waiting
    And holding our breaths
Hoping the results from next Tuesday
Will get us out of this mess.

    The mess for us really
    Isn’t what you would think
    It’s not really all about
    The usual every day stink.

    We’ve watched for two years
And some months if you’re counting
    Waiting for our moment
While the complaints just keep mounting.

    We watched while our party
    The Democratic one
    Was taken over by martians
Because of them we were done.

    “What happened?” one might ask
    “Why what did they do?
    Are you certain the martians
    Aren’t really just you?”

    We Hillary folks
And there are lots of us you know
    Were expected to take
    A very powerful blow.

    While our Democratic Party
    The one that we loved
    Allowed the sexists
To give us one humongous shove.

    The Obama campaign
And all of his minions too
Told us to just to shut up
And that “we don’t really need you.”

We don’t care that you’ve done party work
    For all of these years
We’re the new gang in charge
You women had better be dears.

    Not only don’t you count
    We Hillary people were told
    All that women’s lib stuff
    Is just way too old.

We don’t need you with your
    Ridiculous notions
    You’re getting too uppity
    All those feminist potions.

    Hillary was great
    Except for one thing
    She wasn’t quite perfect
You know, Bill and his bling.

It was just more important to make
    Racial history now.
    Women and history?
You’re just a bunch of cows.

    We’re sick of your whining
    You’ve already gotten alot
    Having a woman president
    Well, that isn’t so hot.

Well they took us right out
    Many thought that they stole
    The election I mean
And threw us in a hole.

    You’d better join us
    The martians they said
    Cause if you don’t
    You’re as good as dead.

    You’re raaaacist, we were told
    For not going along.
    What you want doesn’t matter
    Was their number one song.

Well let me tell you something
    We fought the good fight
To get rid of the martians
We fought with all our might.

And although we lost that round
    Some two years ago
    We haven’t forgotten
What we went through, ya know?

We were the first ones to see
That our emperor had no clothes
We were the first ones to say
Under the bus he will throw…

He’ll throw all of you there
We just happened to be first
    And you’ll be really mad
    We know about his curse.

    We watched two years ago
All that dancing in the street
    It sickened our soul
Cause we know that that feat

    Of winning that election
    Was done on our backs
    The hell with the women
They’re just a bunch of hacks.

    We learned that our country
Isn’t ready for women to lead
In fact you can use them
    To accomplish your evil deed.

    Cause no one really cares
    If women are elected.
    They’re stupid and strange
    Their value undetected.

    The martians had learned that
    Women are split and more
And they used us against ourselves
To get what they came for.

    Oh enough of that
Let’s get back to the bus
Cause in the ensuing two years
Lots of folks have joined us.

    Under the bus came the
    Left and the right
Under the bus the folks in the middle
    All itching for a fight.

    The Obama administration
    Kept insulting us all
    Not just we Hillary folks
    It wasn’t us after all.

    If you didn’t go along
    With all the they wrought
    You were stupid and racist
    And meaner and, well, bought.

    So all of us stupid
    And miserable folks
    Who had grievances and differences
    Have gone ahead and spoke.

    ENOUGH President Obama
With your nose in the air
    We have decided that
    You just don’t really care.

    So we Hillary folks have
    Waited for some relief.
    Our hearts they were broken
And we’ve felt alot of grief.

But we’re tough, the Hillary gang.
    We’re tough and we fight
    Activists all
    We knew this wasn’t right.

    We’ve been waiting it out
For the past two years and some
    A message is coming
    From all of us “dumb”

    Cause all over the land
    We’ve been waiting to speak
And the big day is coming
    From all of us geeks

    The message is this
    O martian intruders encumbered
    You reap what you sow
And your days are just numbered.

    You didn’t really believe
That you could diss us all
    To get what you wanted
    So you could stand tall?

    Oh well, election day
    Is almost upon us
    And we wait excitedly
    Like little kids at Christmas.

We hope that the message will ring
    All through the land.
    November 3 will define
A new beginning for our band.

    To bring us together
    You really shouldn’t diss
    All that hope and change
    Just really went amiss.

    Meanwhile back in Hillaryville
We are praying a chant of our own.
    It’s time for our history
    To be realized full blown.

    A woman president
    Well it’s about time
    And when it happens
That will be the end of our rhyme!!!

    T’were the days before midterms
And our prayers are like this
Let’s have the biggest tsunami EVER
And it’s OUR butts you’ll have to kiss.

  28. Thanks MoonOnPluto. Chandler should win by 2%. If he loses, it will be very good portents for Republicans. The vote there is at 70% now.

  29. CNN says that Marco Rubio pulled 62% of the Latino vote.

He is on the ticket as VP for whatever R runs in 2012. Betcha. The Dems are terrified of this guy.

  30. BTW, it was the old machine cocktail party republicans that cost Odonnell the win. Independents voted for her, and she only lost by 3 or 4 points. That’s actually amazing for a teaparty candidate in a blue blue state.

Yes, the National Repub party, ie Karl Rove and co sabotaged her. They would have had the seat if they got behind her. They don’t want the Tea Party to get any stronger and they are responsible for the mess in Alaska

ALERT: THEY ARE KEEPING POLLS OPEN IN BRIDGEPORT, CT TWO MORE HOURS BECAUSE THEY RAN OUT OF BALLOTS EARLIER (this is a Dem stronghold)

  33. Yep, gonzo. Even the GOP loser from the primary hemmed and hawed and wouldn’t endorse her. Whatever one thinks of the teapartiers, they are scaring the CRAP out of the establishment GOP. I think it’s healthy for the country for both parties to have more populists, rather than machine politicians.

  34. During more than an hour of questions about everything from her role as a mother-in-law to the rise of China, one man joked that if Clinton had won the 2008 election she would have visited Malaysia as president.

“If I had become the president, I would not be here because we have an election tomorrow,” Clinton joked back, saying she had spoken to Obama during the middle of the night “and I think he was a little envious that I’m here.”

  35. Pardon the Ben Chandler obsession, but this is a really important race. If Chandler loses the gates of Hell have opened up and it is a strong wave. Right now it has closed to 49.9 to 50.1 with Chandler ahead. 85% of the vote is in.

  36. HillaryForTexas “we need a list of those Obama campaigned for”.

The name of that list is “the loser’s list”.

  40. Joe Manchin wins in West Virginia, will be Senator for 3 months and then arrested in the federal probe, lol.

  41. Thus far we’ve posted these updates:

Update III: Kiss of death Obama finishes off Perriello (D) in Virginia.

    ————————————————————————————

Update I: Rand Paul (Kentucky) and Dan Coats (Indiana) are now U.S. Senators. Both are pickups from Dimocrats.

  42. MP, there are lots of Republican pickups over Dims. Thus far this has happened in just about every state where polls have closed. Grayson, etc.

  43. abcnews.com was just saying in their livestream that the loss of the Perriello seat had to have hurt the WH, as Perrielo was one of the few House seats where Obama campaigned personally.

Good then, that the Obama candidate lost!! Yes!!

  44. HMMM

ALERT: THEY ARE KEEPING POLLS OPEN IN BRIDGEPORT, CT TWO MORE HOURS BECAUSE THEY RAN OUT OF BALLOTS EARLIER (this is a Dem stronghold)

    UPDATE FROM COMMENTS:
State Republican Chairman Chris Healy is claiming Election Day shenanigans in Bridgeport and is complaining to the Secretary of the State’s office over so-called transfer votes.
Healy said in a phone interview that while both Democratic and Republican registrars have to confirm transfers – when a voter shows up in another polling precinct from where they are registered, claiming they recently moved into the new district – GOP Registrar Joseph Borges has not been consulted. Instead, the Democratic registrar and town clerk have allowed the transfers.

“They haven’t been getting Joe Borges’s signature,” Healy said, adding that it leaves open the possibility of double voting.

“Obviously the Democrats in Bridgeport still won’t follow the voting rules,” Healy said.

Yep. Wonder why they ran out of ballots, eh.
And once again, it comes down to a Dem Secretary of State, who is well known to be a bitter and unscrupulous partisan.

Palin v. Rove and the Battle for the GOP’s Future
    By Lee Cary

The battle for the future of the Republican Party will fully engage tomorrow morning in the wake of today’s election. The opposing forces will be initially represented by two Republicans who hold no elected office: Sarah Palin and Karl Rove.

Palin represents the Tea Party Movement (TPM). Rove is the lead consigliere for the Republican bluebloods. Will their groups eventually consolidate their disparate agendas? The answer will determine the future of the GOP.

After eviscerating Christine O’Donnell’s campaign, Rove challenged the TPM in Der Spiegel, where he was quoted as saying,

If you look underneath the surface of the Tea Party movement, on the other hand, you will find that it is not sophisticated. It’s not like these people have read the economist Friedrich August von Hayek. Rather, these are people who are deeply concerned about what they see happening to their country, particularly when it comes to spending, deficits, debt and health care.

His knowledge of Tea Partiers’ reading habits is flawed. And his explanation of people’s concerns is merely an affirmation of the obvious. He’s since tried to clarify and soften his implied criticism of Tea Partiers, but once you accuse others of being unsophisticated, it’s hard to step back and reframe the discussion. Actually, it’s impossible.

If we were inclined to think that Rove’s words were merely casual comments voiced without forethought or broader intent, we lost that notion when, in a subsequent Telegraph (U.K.) article, he was quoted as saying,

With all due candour, appearing on your own reality show on the Discovery Channel, I am not certain how that fits in the American calculus of ‘that helps me see you in the Oval Office’ … “There are high standards that the American people have for it [the presidency] and they require a certain level of gravitas, and they want to look at the candidate and say ‘that candidate is doing things that gives me confidence that they are up to the most demanding job in the world’.

So where does this dissing of Palin’s “gravitas” come from? Ronald Reagan once hosted the television program “Death Valley Days,” pushing 20 Mule Team Borax cleaner. The liberal media questioned his gravitas through both terms. Rudy Giuliani is leading a troupe of motivational speakers across the nation, promising to teach time management, leadership, and several other “skills” — almost everything except how to stir-fry. Fred Thompson is hawking reverse mortgages to seniors. Mike Huckabee is playing average guitar on his FOX show. None of these former presidential candidates is wading hip-deep today in the Gravitas River that Rove claims does not flow through Alaska. So what’s up with Karl?

This assault on Palin comes, lest we forget, from the same advisor who either did not make the case or was unable to persuade Bush 43 to stand up and fight back against the relentless criticism from Democrats and the legacy media during six of Bush’s eight years as president. Why the aggression now against Palin and the TPM?

Here’s a possible explanation. “Bush’s Brain,” and the architect of the compassionate conservative strategy of George W’s 2000 presidential campaign, is feeling the ground shift under his feet. As a consequence, the gyrocompass of his once-highly regarded political judgment is broken.

On Tuesday night, he’ll have his signature whiteboard out charting numbers, but the Rove magic has faded some. He appears to be suffering from a severe case of Beltway Insideritis. It strikes when those who’ve been comfortable with their status as powerful political influencers lose some of their…gravitas…and become mere observers of the events they wish they could influence, but can’t.

If that’s the case, then Karl’s just one among a cadre of certified conservative pundits, in the media and among the professional camp followers of the pols, who don’t understand a grassroots movement they neither initiated nor can control. To them, the Tea Party People are upstart interlopers, like an uninvited third team that suddenly takes the field during the World Series and starts warming up. Wearing street clothes. With no gloves. Tossing a square ball.

All because We The People are a powerful force, able to eclipse the intentions of the entrenched George Soroses, Peggy Noonans, Paul Krugmans, and Karl Roves who man and woman the traditional partisan barricades while the unstoppable voters surge over and around them.

Come Wednesday morning, the battle for the GOP’s future will begin in earnest.

    Let’s play ball.

  46. Prediction that House will be controlled by repubs by 60 seats re FOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ding dong the witch is dead! By-BY Pooplosie!

That calls for a wine refill!

  47. “Key donors have told the White House that the president should decide for certain whether he’s running for re-election by the end of December. Should Mr. Obama’s approval ratings slip further next year, there’s talk that some donors may call on him not to run, or promote an independent candidacy by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

    ****************************************

yes…push him out…he is proving to be a loser…let’s see how his arrogance plays with the new opposition party committee chairs and agendas ‘in the house’…no more Mama Nancy…wonder how fast it takes him to change from his ‘I’ to hiding behind ‘we’…

you said it Admin…the O era is o-v-e-r! do us a favor and take the last two years off and go golfing…

  48. Fox just said the GOP has the House, predicting 60 seats advantage.

    Woohoo! Buh bye, Speaker Nasty!

  49. Is Nasty filling out her unemployment forms while guzzling the last of the kool-aid?

Hey Confloyd…I am thinking about you while you are at work.

  50. BTW, the biggest gain on record in decades was 53 House seats in 1994, and this is going to WAY top that. See, this year “they had him”. 😀

  51. Manchin thinks he is serving for 6 years according to him on tv now, noooooooooooo you are up again in 2 years.

  52. Our latest updates:

Update IV: Cuomo wins Governor in New York, 2.4 Schumer wins and Gillibrand wins (Hillary’s former seat in the senate). Snyder (R) wins governorship of Michigan. Rick Perry reelected. Corbett (R) new governor in Pennsylvania. NBC projects Republicans win U.S. House of Representatives. Fox News projects a Republican takeover of the U.S. House of Representatives with an historic 60 seats.

    ———————————————————————————

Update III: Kiss of death Obama finishes off Perriello (D) in Virginia.

  53. moon, WV elected him because he basically promised to vote as an R. If he does, they may re-elect him. If he doesn’t, he is toast in 2012.

Let’s see if he votes to repeal part of that awful awful legislation.

Oh My LORD! Rubio is speaking and moononoploto you got thaT ONE RIGHT! He is Latino ON FIRE!

Man, hearing him speak of Cuban exiles is enough to make me cry. He gets it. I have always adored Cubano music. It’s the real deal. Like Rubio.

    WOW!

  60. I told ya, pm317. He is pure kryptonite to the Dems. He pulled 62% of the Latino vote.

I’ll eat my hat if he’s not the VP choice for whoever wins the 2012 GOP primary.

  61. I’m looking at what could be quite a few Ohio house seats flipping.

Strickland is leading in his places but i think Kaisch pulls this out.

  62. Fox says if Reid loses, he’d be first majority leader to lose office in decades. Wasn’t Daschle majority leader going into 2004?

  63. What Rubio said about a society deciding for you who you will be and who your children will be is so true. Be it because of poverty and illiteracy or religion or family pedigree (for ex. British Lords and Ladies) but that is true of most societies in the world. But America has a different history and has a different potential and he seems to get it (my husband said Obama also impressed people with stuff in 2004 convention speech but hope this guy is different). {unfortunately Fox cut him off.} Maybe we can get a Youtube of it later.

  64. HillaryforTexas,

Well, so far I like the house results but the senate leaves a lot to be desired.

Also, I’m in mourning for poor old NYS. Cuomo, Schumer and Gillibrand.

Chet Edwards is gone in Texas 17

That is big, he is, or was my Rep for a long time

  67. UPDATE 2 (7:28 p.m.): After early exit polls gave Kirk a sizeable lead, figures from ABC News show that the Republican is leading Giannoulias by just one point. We could be in for a long night.

UPDATE 3 (8:13 p.m.): A poll of Latino voters shows overwhelming support for Democratic candidates in Illinois — by a landslide. In the U.S. Senate race, the survey showed 84 percent support for State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, while 15 percent favored North Shore Congressman Mark Kirk. With Latino voters making up 6 percent of the voters in Illinois, those numbers give both Quinn and Giannoulias each more than a 4 percentage point advantage in their respective races.

UPDATE 4 (8:32 p.m.): With 35 percent of precincts reporting, Democrat Alexi Giannoulias is leading GOP Congressman Mark Kirk 55-41.

  68. pm317, cook county has been reporting first, the rest of the state has’nt…..so Giannoulis doesnt get this yet.

  69. WOW. I had never heard Rubio before, he is a very impressive candidate.

I can see why the dems are scared of him, he will essentially bring the hispanics into the repub fold.

If I lived in FL, I would certainly vote for him.

OMG. what is wrong with IL, they want a mobster as their senator???? Must be those stuffed union ballots that are putting him over the line. If this is the symbol of the undemonrats, omg, between al franken and this mobster, they are ruining what is left of the demonrat brand.

  70. Ok, I’ve seen some disappointments tonight, but this is still a smackdown against Democrats in most of the country. The northeast is hopeless for now, but give Øbama another two years in that will change. Don’t forget, New England at one time was solidly Republican. I think that minorities are the saving grace for the Democratic party anymore, but as soon as a larger number of assimilated hispanics start spreading their votes between both parties, the Democrats will start to lose even more.

I would have liked to see Manchin lose in West Virginia, but it’s obvious that people like him in that state. I just wish that people would sometimes weigh using their votes to send a message to the White House instead of squandering that opportunity. At this point in time, I don’t get why anyone other than those who want a handout would be supporting the Democratic party.

One final thought. The mainstream media is despicable in their behavior, and some of the winning campaignes can attribute their wins to an unbiased media.

We need to confront and destroy the liberal media. We also need to confront and destroy the liberalism in America’s colleges and universities. They are poisoning the minds of young people.

  71. No major bong turnout in CA.

Not even legalizing pot is bringing the teens to the polls.

    ——–
Hey, Barry lost the south and middle of the country and you got your vote for Clarley…so you should be happy. 😆

  73. moononpluto, it is good if Cook county is already in.. In 2008 primary Obama’s popular vote of more than 700,000 came from Cook county (the numbers did not add up with those who were registered and voted and such).

  74. When the Florida tea party joined up with Marco’s campaign he was 30 down in the polls to the establishment Crist. And look how it turned out.

  75. Looks like Nikki Haley might lose, she is behind a bit, I liked her as well, guess the tarnish of Sanford was too much to overcome, and considering even the good ol boy network of repubs didn’t want her to win because she would have cleaned it up, I am sure they were working against her victory.

  76. I want Tommey to win. I hope he wins. Sestak is such a freaking disappointment, I thought he was a hillary dem, then I hear him praising, basically kissing up to Waffles over and over again. Go Toomey. All dems are Obama dems at this point.

  77. RI upset- so far.

    Robitalle hanging on in first

Chafee looking for a stiff drink

Caprio a few points behind Chafee

Hey, Geraldine Ferraro and Sarah Palin are going to appear together for first time ever on Fox coming up because they are first two women to run for office on a nat’l ticket.

I hope Fox keeps it classy and we have a discussion not them trying to cause a catfight.

Interesting to watch Fox acknowledge the historic nature of these two women’s nat’l runs. As we know, lib news tries to pretend women making history isn’t actual history.

  79. It makes me ill that people like John Conyers in SC keep winning. I used to live next to his district. It is rural, and DIRT poor. It’s literally heartbreakingly pitiful. I’m talking shacks. He’s goes back to DC year after year, and never brings those people any jobs, any industry, any hope. He and his friends and family live high on the hog off of govt contracts and crooked real estate deals, and hand out welfare money to constituents.

That’s not “compassion”, that’s an effing plantation, with him as Big Daddy. It’s disgusting.

OMG — Fox News, panel with Hannity and 2 Democratic and 1 Republican pundit.

Former Clinton guy Doug Schoen is saying that this election is a complete repudiation of Obama! He’s saying that the Dems are dead in the south right now. It sounds like Dems understand The One is an albatross.

The Democrat Bob Beckel is saying that Obama had better be humble tomorrow and that this was a night that put Dems on life support. He looks like somebody he knows just died.

Doug Schoen (Clinton D) just said again this night comes down to one thing, a total repudiation of Obama !!

  90. Rick Scott (R) is beating Alex Sink (D) in Florida with 74% of the vote in. He has 50% of the vote against her 47%. It still amazes me that so many people in Florida are voting Democrat. Alex Sink received just over 2 million votes so far. Rick Scott is 151,000 votes ahead of her.

  91. moonomploto,I kniow you have connections. Whose winning in the Albany County Senate Race, Breslin or Domenici? I need to know. My job depends on it.

  95. This is funny — I got this message as I tried to abort my previous comment to change it. “You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down.”

  96. Michelle Bachman just smacked down Tweety. He asked her if she was “hypnotized tonight”, and she said she guessed the thrill for him tonight wasn’t exactly a tingle in the leg.

  110. DNC Chairman takes home state losses hard
By: CNN Congressional Producer Evan Glass

(CNN) – Democratic National Committee chairman Tim Kaine is taking the loss of three Virginia House Democrats quite personally.

Kaine, the former governor of the commonwealth, called the electoral defeat of Reps. Rick Boucher, Glenn Nye and Tom Perriello “very, very tough.”

“These are all friends,” he told CNN.

As governor of Virginia from 2006 through 2010, Kaine presided over a golden period for Democrats, in which President Barack Obama was first Democratic presidential nominee to win the state in 44 years, both U.S. senators were Democrats and a majority of the House delegation were Democrats.

Now the House delegation will be overwhelmingly Republican, 8-3.

“That is discouraging. But you know, it is an indication Virginia is a very closely divided state like most of the country now,” Kaine said.

Ha! Matthews erupts! O’Tingles says “I never used that word.” Ha!

Rarino (R) beats Carney in Pennsylvania. Harris (R) beats Kratovil! Zack Space (D) defeated in Ohio. Feingold defeated in Wisconsin!!!! Haley wins in South Carolina!!

  116. Damn, The racist teabaggers have elected Marco Rubio, and Susana Martinez, and Tim Scott, and Nikki Haley, and Bill Flores, and………………………..

  117. I do wonder if Nikki Haley did not pull the support that a white Republican woman would possibly have gotten in South Carolina, and if that’s the reason why it took so long to call the state for her. Her Democratic opponent was a white man, too, right? Maybe there is a bit of racism there still? Makes me wonder.

Go home Nasty, Karma smacked ya good.

  125. LAS VEGAS — A power outage in the Henderson area briefly affected polls at Schofield Middle School, according to Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller, while long lines in Elko threatened to hold up the results past 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Miller said voters would be allowed to vote, but added that statewide results may be delayed.

“No results of any statewide races can be reported in any county until all polls across the state are closed,” Miller said in a statement. He could not say how long the vote count would take.

The outage occurred after a vehicle hit a transformer at Eastern Avenue and the 215 Beltway, affecting 1,000 customers, NV Energy reported.

  126. The amount money spent and the optics of the trip to India so soon after this election will be more than disastrous and he may never recover from it for 2012. There is really no compelling reason to have gone to India now and if there was any, it has not been explained (as usual). My husband says India is the prefect place for him to go now because it is non-controversial (sort of like comfort food) after the election rout. That may work for him but what about the American people?

  129. I hope you’re right pm317.”

‘The amount money spent and the optics of the trip to India so soon after this election will be more than disastrous and he may never recover from it for 2012’

  130. admin, if you listen to the full Rubio speech, I thought there was just a touch of candidate Obama in it when he said you better have a good reason to run (when he talked about being down 35 points, or long days on the campaign)..

  131. “Wonderful exchange on Fox News with Sarah Palin and Ferraro. As soon as we get the video we will post it. Down with Neanderthals!”

Go down the tubes if you want, but do it on your own damn dime. The rest of the country is going to RIOT if the Dims suggest bailing out your bloated, la-la, “money grows on trees, just tax the rich some more” asses.

Boxer and Brown projected to win. All I have to say to California is: If you think the rest of the country is going to stand for bailing your profligate, insane, spending-like-water behinds out, you are WRONG. Go down the tubes if you want, but do it on your own damn dime. The rest of the country is going to RIOT if the Dims suggest bailing out your bloated, la-la, “money grows on trees, just tax the rich some more” asses.

  138. Oh YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hallenger Chris Gibson is leading U.S. Rep. Scott Murphy 54 percent to 46 percent with 22 percent of the vote in.

Gibson, a Republican, is trying to unseat Murphy, a Democrat elected to the 20th Congressional District seat after Kirsten Gillibrand was appointed to the U.S. Senate.

McLaughlin is beating Assemblyman Tim Gordon, I-Bethlehem, and Assemblyman Bob Reilly, D-Colonie, is locked in a tight race with Republican Jennifer Whalen.

With 66 percent of the vote in, McLaughlin has 52 percent of the vote and Gordon has 48 percent.

U.S. condemns Iran’s planned execution of woman

WASHINGTON Nov 2 (Reuters) – The United States on Tuesday condemned reported plans by Iran to execute a woman accused of adultery whose case has provoked a world outcry.

Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani was originally sentenced to death by stoning for adultery. Human rights groups said Iranian authorities now plan to hang her on a charge of murder on Wednesday.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the government of Iran’s apparent plans to move forward in executing Ms. Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani,” the White House said in a statement.

  151. The unseen story tonight state legislatures

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels will have complete Republican control of the state legislature as he drives an ambitious legislative agenda in his final two years in office. Republicans overtook the slight 52-48 Democratic majority in the Indiana House, capturing at least 57 seats out of the chamber’s 100 — a lead that looked likely to expand as votes were counted late Tuesday night, with five races undecided. Though some races were dead heats late Tuesday night, at least two of the new Republican House seats were won in Southwestern Indiana.

My reasoning is that with California being the 8th largest economy by itself in the world (or something like that), if California went under, then don’t you think that would spook the stock market, plus have a ripple effect throughout much of the country? It just doesn’t seem to me that an economy as large as theirs would not have a massive effect on the rest of the country if the state were to default. I agree that states better start paying attention to their expenses, and I agree that California has been mismanaged. The people of California are in for some tough decisions. I hope that they make the right ones. Their votes tonight tell me otherwise, though.

I am deeply troubled by reports that Iranian authorities are finalizing plans to execute Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani. Iran’s leaders have failed once again to protect the fundamental rights of their own citizens, particularly women. Ms. Ashtiani’s case has not proceeded with the transparency and due process guaranteed under Iranian law, and we are concerned about reports of coerced confessions and other mistreatment. Thanks for this link. I like the 4 points that Michele Bachman mentioned. I don’t like the smart ass laughing in the background. Rachel Maddow and Keith Olberman make me feel some hatred inside, and I don’t like being that way.

  163. Oh, and it appears the media called CA based on exit polls. There may be SLIM hope yet. From HotAir:

Don’t give up on California yet. Many, many Tea Party people voted early as absentee voters so they would not be included in exit polls. Also absentee votes may not be counted until after the votes from the polling places are counted.

  164. Patty Murray is only winning King county 60/40 with 55% of that county in, thats got to be worrisome for her and good for Rossi. Lots of Rossi areas still out.

  165. I’m glad that the Republicans did not win the Senate, Obama can not charge them with getting nothing done without putting the Senate in the shit.

  166. Boehner is ome of eleven. He damn well knowS what it means to be a poor American from a large family. (I’m ome of 9.

No wondner he’s so friggim; emotiomal. Hugs for you Mr. Speaker.

  167. Nevada just pisses me off. HEY, GOP!!! THIS is why you should have paid attention to all the thugs and bullying and SEIU antics in the 2008 primary! Because that same crap will get turned against YOU!

  168. Santa Clara County in California was not a friend of Carly, and with Sacramento county, they are pushing Boxer ahead. So far Los Angeles and San Diego are pretty much cancelling eachother out.

  169. Looks like Reid is in ….Senate will be either 52-48 or 53-47. Reid is many things, but he somehow wins these close elections.

  170. I was wondering about California. I hope that a lot of the early voting favored the Whitman and Fiorina. I do find it interesting that Carly, so far, is doing a pretty good job in the Los Angeles area. I wonder how she is doing in Orange county?

  171. moononpluto, if Republicans won the senate too, Obama will just throw up his hands and point the finger at them and then go golfing everyday..

  172. Do you people really think that Nevadans split their votes like it appears? The Republican is leading the governor’s race by almost the exact percentage that Reid is supposedly beating Angle right now. That just seems kind of strange to me.

  173. According to the LA Times

    Whitman 47.5%
    Brown 49.4%

    Carley 46.4%
    Boxer 47.7%

…………..it’s not over since they are still counting votes and there is a very high percent of mail in votes.

My guess is Brown won, and the senate is too close to call.

  174. Ok, Sacramento county’s vote has suddenly gone up tremendously for Fiorina. The map that I was looking at must have not been update correctly. I had always thought that Sacramento county was more favorable to Republicans than what I had seen. It’s Alameda County, and Santa Clara County that are carrying Madame Boxer’s water for her. San Diego County, and especially Orange County are going big for Fiorina. Suprisingly, Los Angeles is not a big win for Boxer as she only leads there about 10%.

  175. CHICAGO (AP) _ Republican Mark Kirk has captured the Senate seat once held by Obama, dealing an embarrassing blow

  176. WOW. NBC just raised their projection again from a 62 seat pickup for R’s to a 67 seat pickup in the House.

  177. That’s +6 Senate seats so far for the GOP: ND, AR, IN, WI, PA, IL.

This is a freaking bloodbath, control of the Senate or not.

  178. Now Boxer is ahead again by 6,000 votes. One would think that the central valley would be going big for Fiorina. She’s winning there, but I would have thought she would be ahead by more than she is.

  179. Dumb #ss people from Illinois voting for a KNOWN corrupt Democrat. How sick is that? I am estatic that Kirk won there!

  182. I was just giggling thinking that Nancy must be PISSED! She carried the lion’s share of Obama’s load while Harry hung back, and now HE keeps his Chamber while she loses hers??!!!

    LOL! Hide the crockery!

  183. Our latest update:

Update VIII: Toomey new Republican Senator from Pennsylvania. He cements big wins in the keystone state. Kiss of death Obama with 12 repeated visits finishes off Ted Strickland. The Ohio House and every statewide seat up for election was won by Republicans. Kiss of death Obama kills off mob banker friend Alexi Giannoulias who wanted Obama’s seat. Harry Reid wins reelection – 2×4 Schumer, who wanted Reids leader job, just slit his wrist.

  184. Its so corrupt, you will never get Reid out of that seat unless its in a box.

He is so far in the “interest” peoples pockets that they could not afford him to lose.

  185. I wonder how Orange County California has managed to stay so Republican? More counties are Republican in California than Democrat, yet many of those counties have small populations. The Democrats are concentrated in the high population counties, except for Orange County.

  186. Speaking of Orange County, has Crist said anything tonight? 🙂

probably not that they could air!

However – on my way home from work (8:30ish) they said he was scheduled to speak at 8:45. Meek was at 8:30 – although I was out of the car by then

  187. Carley 47.1%
    Boxer 47.2%

With only 17.3 of the votes counted.

I hope there isn’t going to be a run off with these two.

  188. My district, Texas District 23

    Quico Canseco (R) 50% 70,113

    Ciro Rodriguez (D) 44% 61,555

Another incumbent Dem is going down. I feel bad for Ciro, because he’s really a good guy. But he stuck with Obama on healthcare deform, and it killed him.

  189. I was hoping that Art Robinson would win in Oregon’s district 4, but it looks like he is going to lose to DeFazio.

  190. The GOP has gained 13 legislative chambers and 9 governorships. People forget that, but it’s huge in a redistricting year.

  191. I think that Florida has something like 72 counties. Rubio won in all but three of them. Crist won two counties and Meek won one. Remarkable.

That number right there tells me Rossi will win.

Washington is a red state with a blue whole in it.

I know from a friend who was McCain’s campaign manager that if the republican can win over 38% of King and surrounding counties then he will carry the state.

Looks like that is about to happen.

Interesting enough I met another friend who was head of the old Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers who organized Hanford Nuclear Laboratory years ago. I told him Murray would win. Shows you what I know.

If the same assumptions are in place as before then Rossi should have it. But it will be close because of cheating.

  193. moon, that’s because the NRSC is run by John Cornyn, who is my senator, and is a massive GOP establishment TOOL.

  196. JanH, during one of the debates, Rubio and Meeks each noted that the other had been a stand-up, honest guy. Neither said the same for the Oompa Loompa Orange guy. It was very conspicuous.

  200. As of midnight EST Morris is projecting a Republican gain of 65 seats in the House. By contrast, in 1994 the Republicans won only 52 seats if memory serves. They called that “the miracle of 1994”. What will they call this???? How about Napoleon’s Retreat II. Watch him snap a little snappy salute to the marine guard, climb into Airforce I, and jet away to far off places, far from the madding crowd where he can fuck off. Others will clean up the mess. It is okay because he is Barack Obama–Savior of the World.

  201. So far, there has only been two Democrat pick-ups in the House tonight. One in Delaware, and the other the Cao seat down in Louisiana, which was expected.

  202. Obama does not fair well when he has to negotiate with people. Remember those who worked with him as a lawyer said he did not negotiate. I think he thinks that is weak, and he is THE ONE, who should not have to negotiate. It is going to be an interesting two years. He can no longer threaten, fraud, abuse his own party majority into doing things for him. He no longer has a majority in the House. The question is, what kind of damage can he do with his majority in the Senate. espcially now that his party knows he as feet of clay.

AP : Fiorina in CA is *not* conceding
    ——–
Just watching local news, both Boxer and Fiorina are just hanging out, not accepting nor conceding…the numbers are a dead heat and AP is the one that declared. Since almost half of the voters in CA have mail in votes (per the news), it make take until tomorrow or longer to know the real vote count.

  204. RINOGEDDON: MURKY AHEAD WITH 39% TO MILLER’S 34%
“Write in” is winning with 39%, that is– but I wouldn’t count on too many of those votes not being for Murky.

Then again, these are the first numbers up. 28% reporting.

  205. 27% in Alaska

    Its Write ins 39%
    Miller 34%
    The Dem 24%

Can’t believe that. This is gonna be a massive fight if that happens.

  206. There was not a title wave in NM. Martinez’s acceptance speech sounded a lot like Os in that she is going to perform miracles. Other than the Gov position, the other positions going GOP were the Secretary of State (the Dem had some accusations surface about some illegalities), the Rep Down South returned to the GOP ranks, and they put Pearce in again(voted the most corrupt politican. twice). The state Treasuer, Auditor, Attorney General all remained Dem. They also kept the Dems Rep in the North and here in Albuquerque.

It will be interesting to see what a GOP Gov can do with the Dem environment she is in. She made a lot of promises, and it sounded so O it was chilling. She promised Jobs, and raising our educational performance level. Those things are hard to do by just waving your hand. You have to have people willing to bring jobs to NM in order to accomplish that. Also, right now the Schools have been cut to the bone, and you need some money to improve the performance. She promised Transparance, etc. Raises the hair on the back of you head. When you promise miracles, people tend to expect them.

  207. Wait until all the lawsuits are filed. We won’t know who controls the Senate for a while yet. It took 8 months for Franken to be seated. If Fiorina and others in close races go to court, there might not be enough Dimocrats to take control.

The crazy is just beginning in the senate.

  208. If you look at that pasty faced Harry reid with his enervated voice, his hunched over demeanor, his granny glasses and those two beady eyes of his staring back at you like piss holes in the snow, you begin to realize how closely he resembles a tapeworm.

  209. Wait until all the lawsuits are filed. We won’t know who controls the Senate for a while yet. It took 8 months for Franken to be seated. If Fiorina and others in close races go to court, there might not be enough Dimocrats to take control.

Sue the bastards til hell won’t have it anymore. And bring all the evidence of fraud and cheating and intimidation to FOX news, so that every dimocrat has the burnden of proving that he or she did not cheat. No presumption of legitimacy or innocence any longer. Not with this crowd. And if they are not legitimate then their actions have no legal validity. Find the fraud and expose it to the world. This is the Chicago Machine gone national and we have to fight them every step of the way. If these people are allowed to get away with murdering our democracy they will destroy this country.

  222. gonzo, we won’t know anything about Alaska til late tomorrow at the earliest. That’s only the city voters. AK is HUGE, and a lot of it is rural. They have to fly the freaking ballots in on planes.

  224. Fiorina has NOT conceded to Boxer.

  225. Maybe we’ve put the fear of God into those that won tonight…no more kickbacks/corruption, we the people decide not the elites.

  226. Boxer is now 5% ahead of Fiorina in CA, about 200,000 votes. Carly may be conceding soon.

What will be interesting to note in my opinion is the historical differences in margins of victory of people like Boxer, Reid, etc, from their previous elections to how they did today. Maybe someone will crunch the numbers, if not I think I may know someone who would do it, but my guess is Reid, Boxer, all won by smaller margins today than ever before. That I think tells you something about just what the electorate feels about these folks.

  228. Nice speech Nanny Poopie. A perfect non-sequitur. She created jobs alright. That is why the unemployment rate went from 8 to 10% and the real rate is over 18%. She calls her colleagues who defied the will of the American People courageous? That little gem reminds me of the British Admiral who watched his tommies cut down by maxim guns at Gallipoli landing in World War I and said to his executive officer:” gallant fellows these soldiers. They always go to the thickest part of the wall.”

“Over the last four years, the Democratic Majority in the House took courageous action on behalf of America’s middle class to create jobs and save the country from the worst economic catastrophe since the Great Depression.

“Our Members and candidates ran remarkable campaigns led by the superb leadership of DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen.

“The outcome of the election does not diminish the work we have done for the American people. We must all strive to find common ground to support the middle class, create jobs, reduce the deficit and move our nation forward.”

California, you are about to get even more screwed up than you already are.
    Congrats.
Democrat governor-elect Jerry Brown just wrapped up a rambling victory speech extolling renewable energy as the route to salvation and an observation that he’ll make a better executive this time around because he’s married now.
Brown says he is “full of energy, full of creativity, and ready to serve you, the people of California.”
    Yikes.
Also this freaky-deaky threat: “I still carry this missionary zeal to transform the world.”
    What was he smoking?
Speaking of which, the pot initiative failed in California. Not sure Jerry Brown was notified in time..

Rubio will be VP in 2012 which will loose the sun belt for the dems. Harry Reid escaped his death sentence. Nancy Pelosi has been hung out to dry perhaps she will take them all down with her. Apart from Nicki Haley most of the women candidates failed to get elected. And THE ONE’S dear friend Alexi didn’t capture O’s old seat, I’m betting this had a lot to do with Michelle… It’s early but that seems to be where the story will be today….

  244. From Lame Cherry

The key in this is Aaron Burr, Joe, Biden has been reaching out to the Clintons. The meaning of this is simple as Obama detests Biden and has been burying Biden under nothingness to try and get rid of him.
Obama gave Hillary full presidential foreign policy authority to placate her, but all this has done is move Hillary to the real RFK agenda in challenging Obama in replacing him as Bobby did LBJ.

Biden knows that Obama has betrayed him, after Biden silenced Lawrence Sinclair in the most heavy handed of ways. Obama has offered at least twice the Vice Presidential slot to Hillary and she of course is playing cute in turning it down, because why be #2 when you can be #1.

Americans wanted to change DC, not the country!

  247. Violent,” “angry,” “fear-mongering” Tea Party narrative debunked in one night
    By: J.P. Freire
    Associate Commentary Editor
    11/03/10 4:00 AM EDT
Allegedly, the Tea Party movement has been violent, angry, intent to incite fear and hate among the populace. These narratives weren’t true — tonight’s vote has proven them caricatures laid out by journalists with short wordcounts and shorter attention spans. Violent movements do not do these things. They don’t show up at the polls and overwhelm the establishment in favor of a minority candidate, as in the case of Sen.-elect Marco Rubio, R-Fla. They also don’t lose so badly, as in the case of Christine O’Donnell. They don’t take on, and nearly defeat, the leader of the majority party in the Senate, at the same time as he colludes with casinos in a potentially illegal scheme to get out the vote in his favor. They don’t settle for a more liberal candidate in Illinois just because he’s the most electable. Yet they did all of those things. Strange. The Tea Party movement, at its very inception, has focused on the rule of law and limited government as reasons for its existence….

The whole of the Maine legislator has flipped to the GOP. Several people I have talked to said such a deep and thorough shift to any one party has not happened in one election in the past 100 years.

Republican gains are massive. And when I say Republican gains are massive, I mean tsunami.

But consider that as you wake up this morning the Republican Party has picked up more seats in the House of Representatives than at any time since 1948 — that is more than sixty seats. Ike Skelton, Class of 1976, is gone. Many, many other Democrats are gone.

That, in and of itself, is significant. But that’s not the half of it. The real story is the underreported story of the night — the Republican pick ups at the state level.

There will be 18 states subject to reapportionment. The Republicans will control a majority of those — at least ten and maybe a dozen or more. More significantly, a minimum of seventeen state legislative houses have flipped to the Republican Party.

The North Carolina Legislature is Republican for the first time since 1870. Yes, that is Eighteen Seventy.

The Alabama Legislature is Republican for the first time since 1876.

For those saying this is nothing because it is the South, consider these:

The entire Wisconsin and New Hampshire legislatures have flipped to the GOP by wide margins.

The State Houses in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Montana, and Colorado flipped to the GOP.

The Maine and Minnesota Senates flipped to the GOP.

The Texas and Tennessee Houses went from virtually tied to massive Republican gains. The gains in Texas were so big that the Republicans no longer need the Democrats to get state constitutional amendments out of the state legislature.

These gains go all the way down to the municipal level across the nation. That did not happen even in 1994.

    This was a tsunami.

  249. Wow, what a morning! A red tide swept the country last night…

In my neck of the woods it looks like there might be a repeat of the Al Franken mess of two years ago. In the governors race only 17,000 votes currenty separate Emmer and Dayton with 1% of precincts still out…looks like there will be a recount…

[UPDATE]: The whole of the Maine legislator has flipped to the GOP. Several people I have talked to said such a deep and thorough shift to any one party has not happened in one election in the past 100 years.
    ——————

This is an unusual Morning Briefing because you need to understand what happened while you’ve been sleeping.

Republican gains are massive. And when I say Republican gains are massive, I mean tsunami.

No, the GOP did not take the Senate and some races are still outstanding, but the Senate GOP has moved to the right. More so, the Republicans picking up, in the worst case, seven seats is historically strong.

But consider that as you wake up this morning the Republican Party has picked up more seats in the House of Representatives than at any time since 1948 — that is more than sixty seats. Ike Skelton, Class of 1976, is gone. Many, many other Democrats are gone.

  253. I know there is a lot of good news here, but I am so disappointed that the people who really deserved defeat the most….like Reid and Schumer…came out of this OK.

In NY the dems really came out in force. In my local congressional district, there was a really bright, successful young guy going up against a DNC clone who held the office for years. The challenger lost by 2% points. I’m really discouraged about that.

  254. It would seem certain states are so corrpupt and controlled now by special interests, it would take a crowbar to prise the control out. That means you Nevada, Alaska, NY and California.

I knew Harry would win, the casino’s and their unions had his back, now if Angle ever gets a fraud investigation going……..

  255. I wonder how long it will take for Jerry Brown to get recalled in California? Should we lay bets now.

I wonder how long before Joe Manchin is arrested on the federal probe?

Speaking of which what happens to the Gov of WV now. Thats probably a good shot for a Rep pick up now Manchin has done a runner.

  256. This is just brutal for Dems

GOP count of flipped state leg. chambers now up to 19, adding MN House and Senate and ME House overnight. NY still out.

  257. WASHINGTON (AP) – House Republican Leader Boehner claims mandate to roll back Obama’s health care overhaul law.

  258. The pre election polls seemed to be right on all over the country EXCEPT in Nevada. My first thought was that there was rampant cheating by Reid.

And no one ever brought up anything about Sweet Chuckie including his fairly recent outburst against a female (flight attendent): believe he said bitch. Gilliland tried to cover for him? Memory on this is vague.

Harry; sure he’s dirty. Have not confirmed, but heard on early TV that Angle has not conceded.

There is one great benefit for today: For once I do not care what Rasmussen Presidential Tracking is!

  262. Meant to include in my previous comment, PA’s Gov. Elect Corbett says he will model his term after NJ Gov. Chris Christie. Gulp. Never heard him say that while campaigning. I admire Christie, but watching him is not the same as incurring him.

  263. It would seem that its about 30,000 Dem votes that have put Murkowski in the lead.

Miller and Murkowski votes total about 150,000. Yet Parnell only got 117,000, so the other 33,000, which explains the Dem gov candidate got nearly 80,000 but the Dem senate only 47,000.

Murkowski peeled off 33,000 Dem voters. Miller could’nt do that, had Murkowski stayed out Miller would have won handily.

  264. Biggest wins, least covered are gov wins in NM, OH, PA, MI and FL. That’s a lot of electoral votes that Obama won in ’08 and a lot he would need in 2012. He lost every swing state.

  265. You bet there’s been cheating everywhere. Obama kept his fast corrupt friends in place. Like Barney Frank, who has become the most hated politician in the state of MA. Reid, who’s poll numbers were in the 20’s before the election and last but not least, Deval Patrick. Imagine having to vote for Baker, another one of the most corrupt politicians who almost bankrupted the state with the Big Dig. A choice between two evil doers and Baker came close to beating him.

I wouldn’t say it was possible except for the fact, Soros bought all the Diebold voting machines and bought/hired the VP in charge of machine programming along with the sale. Diebold voting machines should be scrapped, permanently. It is a proven fact, they can be easily manipulated. Hillary is taking a wicked chance going up against them if she decides to try again in 2012. Especially, if Obama decides seeking a second term. Another primary… Oh… Gawd… Save US!

    _______________________________

Good point- This would give the Clintons a false sense of security, thinking, those electoral votes would automatically go to Hillary. Yesterday was a mini-scale demonstration of machine prowess when you are the one holding the keys. I can see the ass-hats high fiving each other for the stolen wins… they might even have blunted Caprio by siphoning off his votes to Robitaille, relegating him to political obscurity.

Sorry, something smells rotten in Denmark!!!

  267. I can’t believe Loyd Doggett won. He lost 7 out of 8 county’s, but of course won ultra liberal Austin. Too bad

  268. Mrs.SMith, That’s what I can’t believe Frank and Patrick and Reid keeping their jobs…they were really hated universally I thought. There was cheating in certain areas, I bet those folks are the ones that REALLY know where the bodies are buried or are Obama’s personal friends (if you know what I mean).
Sure glad the mobster in Chicago did not get elected. I remember seeing Bill stump for him and Bill looked almost sick standing next to the podium.

  269. Someone upthread, they did not think Hillary could win in this enviroment…well I don’t either so this is why I think Obama needs to step down and let Hillary take over now to fix things up now.
I don’t think the republicans are going to try and take him down….just my opinion though!

  270. I don’t think O will decide to not run. I think his financial backers will decide he should not run. He is not capable of looking at his own failures.

  271. They have a pic of him on the phone from last night….I don’t believe it I bet he was in bed curled up in a fetal position. The man is nuts….

  272. Yesterday when I voted, they used paper ballots. When I lived in New Jersey, for most of my life, it was always the old style lever machines in which you step into them, pull a lever, and the curtain closed behind you. That changed to electronic machines a couple of years before I moved away. I like those old style lever machines, but I am happy with the paper ballot, too.

  273. “Lame Cherry thinks that the insider in insider articles is Rahm Emmanuel. Any thoughts?”

    —————–

That wouldn’t surprise me in the least. And if it is true that obama has asked Hillary twice to be v.p. and she has declined…well…that changes the whole ballgame.

  274. Don’t you all imagine the knives will be out when congress convenes again during this lameduck season? Nancy will be hard to deal with now I bet….I hope they all turn on Obama and we hear more stuff about him.

  275. I believe that election fraud occured to last night, and it bugs me that I have to feel that way. It’s one thing to have a truly honest election, but it’s another thing to feel that the results have been manipulated in favor of one candidate. The polls in California were way off. How does someone lose by about 10% points, when consistently, the polling showed the election to be closer? Barbara Boxer’s win over Carly Fiorina in the amount that it was, to me is unbelievable.

  276. So funny

Breaking: AZ Gov. Jan Brewer has sent the National Guard to the western border to protect the state from fleeing Californians.

I guess the Brown win has become a joke already when he’s called moonbeam, seriously how long do we give California now before it falls into a complete disaster under him, thank your lucky stars you lost Meg.

    _______________________________

They are hated by ALL MA residents. It’s inconceivable their re-election was by the Will of the People. I live 100 yds within sight of the MA border. I’ve spoken to MA residents daily. No-one, ever said they would vote to re-elect Barney. Their faces would scrunch up at the sound of his name. Barney himself thought his goose was cooked and was preparing himself for the loss. He probably whined to Obama: “I did everything I was told to do and you throw me under the bus too?”

Remember, Barney goes way back with Geithner and the Fed. They need him to continue looting Fannie and Freddie staying the course BK’ing America. They most likely tested Bielat . Testing his moral values comparing running a caution light with deliberately stonewalling legislation for closing loopholes safeguarding those two major financial entities. And found he couldn’t be turned.

An investigation of these elections need to be done either overtly or covertly. Whatever-

  278. Jan H,
Was that a great video of two women on opposite sides of the political spectrum respecting each other….that was just a pleasure to see that. Personally I am sick to death of the “below the belt” fighting that has dominated politics for so long.
Gee, I really like Sarah’s hair! I did like that Gerri said she never personally attacked Sarah, only her policies…how nice that would be if that would be what they would do now. No more campaign songs like “I got 99 problems and the bitch ain’t one of them”. That was so disgusting.

  279. Mrs. Smith,
I do hope the people demand an investigation.

    MOP,
I listened to Brown’s acceptance speech….he sounds like such a dumbass….when California needs a person that has the brains and stamina of Hillary Clinton. So sad for California!

  280. JUAN WILLIAMS: Yes, This Election Was All About Obama. So Now What?

    By Juan Williams
    Published November 03, 2010

    The votes are in.

It is a Republican colored “Morning in America,” or at least in the House of Representatives. The Senate also has a noticeably more reddish, Republican, glow. So is it fair for Democrats to blame President Obama? Is it fair for Republicans to say that the 2010 midterm election that amounted to a rebuff of President Obama?

The answer to both questions is yes.

The White House knew by late summer that this election cycle had been nationalized and President Obama was on the hot seat. After Labor Day the president took to the campaign trail to do over 70 fundraisers, appear at about 20 political rallies and do countless radio and TV interviews including MTV and Comedy Central.

Despite that investment of presidential capital Republicans gained control of the House and made record gains in the Senate – though they fell short of gaining the majority.

So, now what does the nation’s chief executive do to reverse his political fortunes before the 2012 presidential election?

When President Clinton faced a similar political predicament after the 1994 midterms he accepted the idea of a political rebuke and famously began to ‘triangulate’ by moving to the political middle ground, notably on taxes and welfare.

Clinton was the former two-time governor of a moderate Southern state – Arkansas – where he demonstrated the capacity to stage a comeback after conservatives ousted him from governor’s office. The point is that President Clinton knew how to change course in response to an altered landscape.

By contrast, President Obama is the still convinced, his top aides told me earlier this week, that he is doing what is right for the American people in the long run and feels history will vindicate him for daring to withstand the political volatility.

He has no second thoughts about his decision to bail out Wall Street firms and pass a reform package for the financial industry, spend heavily on a stimulus package that has become a political liability, and put his party on the hook for passing health care reform.

The White House view is that the American electorate is upset about high unemployment and a slow economic recovery and is lashing out.

A Fox News poll exit poll found nearly two-thirds of all voters said they went to the polls either to support or oppose the man in the White House. That breaks down to 24 percent who said their vote was in support of the president and 38 percent who said they went to the polls to make a statement of opposition to the president.

A Rasmussen reports poll found that 52 percent of likely voters saw the election as having more to do with their judgment on the president than with the candidates or issues on their local ballots. And that survey also found 56 percent of Americans queried saying that President Obama should change course after the election even though two-thirds said they did not expect him to change.

Among the energized, partisan voters the results are even more dramatic. A Wall Street Journal poll found that among voters who strongly wanted a Republican majority in the House of Representatives, in other words energized Republican voters, 45 percent said they cast their votes as a protest against President Obama and the current Democratic majority in the House.

That is not as strong a vote as the 65 percent partisan Democrats cast against President Bush in the 2006 cycle when Democrats took control of the House. But it was stronger than the 41 percent of Republicans who said their 1994 vote to give control of Congress to Republicans was a vote against then President Bill Clinton.

This comes as President Obama’s approval ratings remain in the low to mid-40 percent range. That is on level with the approval ratings for President Carter, Reagan and Clinton at the same point in their presidencies.

But what is key in looking at President Obama’s standing with the American people is that this is the same man who won the presidency with a strong 52.9 percent of the vote and at the time of his inauguration had a favorability rating of about 70 percent.

It has been quite a fall from grace. A mid-October Gallup poll found that President Obama’s favorability rating — 47 percent — is now exceeded by his unfavorable rating – 50 percent.

The key to the president’s personal political recovery plan is to win back independent voters. And to make that case he has to demonstrate that he is genuinely interested in working with Republicans.

The obvious targets for White House compromise begins with extending the Bush tax cuts to people who make more than $250,000 for two years or more – beyond the 2012 presidential contest.

Next in line are more tax breaks and capital investment incentives for small businesses.

And then there is the serious business of working with Republicans on cuts to government spending, specifically on entitlement programs such as Medicare and Social Security.

If the president makes the case to independent voters that he is committed to bipartisan efforts to spur the economy and produce jobs he can climb back and win when his name is again on the ballot.

If he prefers to stand on the conviction that he is right and those swing voters are wrong he may well be vindicated by history but it will be the political equivalent of ”Nightfall in America” for Obama at the end of his first term.

  281. I guarantee you that Obama will now let the republican place every single policy they ever wanted to put thru…by the time 2012′ rolls around people will be begging Hillary to run again.I think this is Hillary’s way to get in, but Rubio will definitely be hard to beat…she may never get in…thanks to little old Bambi!

  282. hehe

McConnell: “It’s clear that choosing the President over your constituents is not a winning strategy.”

He’s got that right, exactly what these guys did in the primaries.

  283. “McConnell: “It’s clear that choosing the President over your constituents is not a winning strategy.””

    Mitch McConnell Nailed it!!

I voted for Meeks and felt good about it…he did stand by Hillary.
    &&&&&

Good for you! Meeks deserved some support.

Hopefully, the whole ugliness about blaming Bill for allegedly trying to get Meek to bow out will be exposed as a lie, and the evidence of Obama’s fingerprints on it confirmed.

  285. I cannot even stand listening to Harry Reid. and as for Jerry Brown, I agree with Mrs. Smith above, not one bailout for that state. They elected a complete idiot, the man looked like he was high when giving his speech.

I give it one year before there is a recall petition for this idiot.

Confloyd – glad you watched the blog, I missed having you around to snipe at Nasty with me. 😉

Nasty lost her perch…….I bet she and BarryBoy have one crummy day.

    Nasty will go down in history for her quote, (be sure to imagine a silly grin on her face with head bobbing side to side);

“We need to pass the bill before we know what’s in it!”

  288. We have a new process in Ny to replace the old electronic machines.
You mark a paper ballot in ink then take it to a scanner that records the vote electronically.

Now there is a paper trail that can be checked against the electronic calculation.

It takes a bit longer, but I like it. Keeps them honest.

Too bad MA and Nevada don’t have s similar system.

I thought Gerri was towing the party line and condescending initially, but Sarah was so gracious she forgot for a moment she didn’t have to support the fraud.

I was sad to see Gerri still towing that line, must be getting heavy

  290. Speculation is that both Feingold and Dean are lining up to challenge Dean in 2012.

Go boys, do the stalking horse and then Hillary will finish the job.

  291. Although I think that Matthews is technically correct about his non-use of the word “tingles” (as I recall, he said he got a “thrill” up his leg when he heard the Fraud speak), it’s a minor point – and “tingles” sounds funnier anyway.

However, the whole Matthews-Bachmann segment is pretty bizarre when you consider what’s going on. Here you have all of the smug, know-it-all prime time hosts from a station that nobody watches (plus Eugene “Home of the Platitude” Robinson), whose preferred party has just lost big, sitting around giggling like teenagers (with unmistakeable guffaws from Robinson) while Matthews is trying to grill (and simultaneously mock) Bachmann. Bachmann, on the other hand, has just won another Congressional term, her party has just re-taken control of the House of Representatives by historic proportions, she refuses to go anywhere near Matthews’s loaded questions, and she manages to blatantly insult Matthews with the “tingles” comment. Boy, they really showed everyone what a loser Bachmann is, didn’t they?

  292. GOP likely to urge Obama officials not to shred documents
By Jordy Yager and Bob Cusack – 11/03/10 10:32 AM ET
Republicans are likely to urge the Obama administration not to shred documents as they transition to the House majority.

Before the election, GOP officials on Capitol Hill privately discussed the issue but refrained from publicly tackling it, not wanting to assume what would happen on Election Day.

Now that Republicans will control the House, the shredding matter will move front and center.

No one is accusing the Obama administration of destroying documents, but Republicans are expected to try to ensure that all records — on a range of issues — are kept intact.

Darrell West, a political scientist and director of governance studies at the Brookings Institution, said Republicans likely will formally ask the administration not to shred or delete any relevant documents that could be requested in a congressional probe.

“That’ll happen right away, because they want to make sure that the documentary record is preserved so that they have something to investigate,” said West.

Armed with the House majority, Republicans next year will enjoy subpoena power — something they have not had in four years.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), poised to become chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, worked closely with the media in the 111th Congress.

Earlier this year, when it was pointed out by a reporter that he didn’t have subpoena power, Issa responded, “I have you.” Issa then singled out other reporters in the hallway, saying, “I have him, and her, and him.”

John Wonderlich, the policy director for the Sunlight Foundation — a nonpartisan group that promotes government transparency — said Republican-led investigations may be initiated more slowly than expected, because the party doesn’t want to be seen as too aggressive.

“[Asking for the retention of documents] is the sort of thing that wouldn’t surprise me at all, but as an opening volley that could be seen as really aggressive,” said Wonderlich. “And immediately, both sides are going to be posturing to look like the reasonable ones with the open hand. So it’s not like it’s going to be open season right away.”

  293. Rush just said something you have to agree with about Christine O’Donnell

“We know she never joined the KKK, never drove her car into a river abandoning a young girl to die, doesn’t have fraud charges pending against her, never gave tarp payments to her husband” ….

It is his response against the naysayers about her candidacy, ie RNC
