Dumb Black People

Black people are dumb. They are really, really, dumb. They are as dumb as White People, Yellow People, Green People, Red People, etc., etc. We wrote “Dumb White Peoplel” in March 2008, so now with race and race-baiting so much in the news, it’s time for equal opportunity laughter at Dumb Black People.

In “Dumb White People” we singled out as examples Andrew Sullivan and John Kerry. Oh, how stupid they are and how we have laughed at them through the years. Andrew Sullivan and John Kerry thought the world would change because an African-American, a Black man, a half-Black, half-White guy took George W. Bush’s third term. We warned those lunkheads that naivete in world affairs would not work (“an administration of lies” says Ahmadinejad of “no preconditions” Obama boobery) and that:

“Osama Bin Laden does not care at all if you are African-American, Jewish-American, Irish-American, White-American, Chinese-American, Indian-American, etc. All Osama Bin Laden cares about is that you are American. Then Osama will kill you. Or try to kill you. Osama Bin Laden is post-racial. Kill Americans. It’s that simple. Osama, does not care if you are black or white, ebony or ivory.”

We confess, in moments of undiluted misanthropy we wish Black People would disappear from the entire planet – along with White People, Yellow People, Green People, Red People, etc., etc. Let’s turn the place over to dogs, and cats, and birds, and roaches. Down with people – up with our furry and feathered friends. But we digress.

Mind, not all Black People are dumb, just as not all White People are dumb (ditto the rest of the list). But for Barack Obama the dumb came out of the woodwork, the lemmings ran away from the smart.

Let’s laugh at dumb Princeton professor Cornel West. He has a master’s degree, rather, a doctorate in dumb. Try reading this and not laugh at our dumb black brother:

“Princeton professor (and spoken-word artist) Cornel West has never been shy about publicly sharing his views, whether about race in America, Obama’s Nobel Prize or animal rights. He talks to Playboy for its August issue and is typically candid about what’s going on today with the tea party movement, Barack Obama, FLOTUS and more. [snip]

On what President Obama is doing wrong: “While he’s made some good, positive changes, I don’t think he’s a messiah or even a very progressive politician. It turns out when you talk about hope, you have to be a long-distance runner.”

On Michelle Obama: “I think she’s got a lot of Malcolm X in her, a lot of Ella Baker. [snip]

On “whitewashing within [the Obama] administration”: “What happened to the black elites inside Obama’s campaign, Valerie Jarrett, John Rogers and Eric Whitaker? They’re practically invisible or gone. Instead Obama has a savvy political team — brother [David] Axelrod, Bbrother David Plouffe, brother Robert Gibbs, brother [Rahm] Emanuel — who are eperts at PR. … Black folk can’t be blindsided by Obama’s pigmentation and historical symbolism. What I’m saying is I wish he could be more Martin Luther King-like. … But by necessity, Obama has had to downplay his blackness to appease the white moderates and independents and speak to their anxieties.”

Poor dumb ol’ Cornel. Now he realizes Obama is not “a messiah” nor “a very progressive politician.” These facts did not stop the dumb ol’ progressive from Princeton from endorsing Barack Obama.

As to Michelle “got a lot of Malcolm X in her”, Michelle has all the ugly anger of Malcolm but none of his commitment to community, none of his (often misplaced) strength, none of his history of hard work and intellectual curiosity, none of his ability to question others and himself, none of his ability to learn and grow. Michelle does however have the friendship of Malcolm’s likely killer “the Honorable Louis Farrakhan”. Michelle Obama is more “Malcolm In The Middle” than Michelle X (if you ignore the scowl of her anger). And Ella Baker she surely is not unless we revise Ella Baker into a self-interested, self-obsessed, self-promoting, arugula eating Chicago thug.

Now, the above is Grade A “dumb” but it is this following sentence which catapults Cornel West into “Dumb Black People” status:

“On his current relationship with Obama:

“He doesn’t return my calls. … I did 65 events for my dear brother Barack on the campaign trail but have not seen him since Martin Luther King Day 2008. … I couldn’t even get a ticket to the Inauguration for my mother. … I think he has the kind of disposition where he just moves on.”

Grade AAA dumb. West, the great intellectual from Princeton only now realizes Obama “has the kind of disposition where he just moves on.” That has to go down as one of the funniest/dumbest statements ever. Alice Palmer learned Obama can’t be trusted – he just moves on – and you find yourself under the bus. The Obama stabs in the back are many.

Dumb and Black Cornel West, along with other Dumb Black People (aided and abetted by Dumb White People), fooled themselves into beating themselves. They voted skin color and the skin is now burned by Barack Obama. We wrote it repeatedly: Obama will hurt his supporters the most.

“No, we are not talking about losers like Daschle, Richardson, Kerry. Nor do we refer to the those writhing under the Obama bus like Chris Dodd or Jeremiah Wright.

We are talking about young people and African-American supporters who were ever so fervent in their religious worship of Obama.”

The garbage scow that writes for the New York Times found a ‘Dumb Black People’ to state what we at Big Pink indeed did know – although the ‘Dumb Black People’ of the Dowd article appears surprised by what was ever so obvious:

Who knew that the first black president would make it even harder on black people?” asked a top black Democratic official.”

We knew, that’s who. We knew and we wrote about it back in 2007:

“What use was Obama’s “community organizer” experience to those shivering tenants?

What use was Obama the state senator to those shivering tenants?

What relationships did Obama build during his “community organizer” days that proved useless when he became state senator, and failed to keep him in touch with the community?

What was Obama doing in his plush state senator office that kept him too busy to know that these “struggling families” were without heat “For more than five weeks during the brutal winter of 1997″?

If Obama with all his “community organizer” experience did not know what was happening in his small district office in Chicago, how in blazes does anyone think he will respond to the needs of an American electorate that numbers in the hundreds of millions?[snip]

When it came time to defend the defenseless or protect and enrich the powerful. Obama made a decision. He protected his powerful friends and provided them with even more government money. Same old Chicago politics. The poor shivered in cold tenements. Obama bought a new house. Now he wants a bigger White House to entertain his Chicago friends.”

It is no mystery why we knew Obama would hurt African-Americans and the young – it’s what he has always done. Obama “moves on” after he has used you.

The garbage scow at the Times and the professor from Princeton are nothing in their dumbness compared to – James Clyburn of South Carolina. Dear old race-baiting James Clyburn. What is the race-baiting Clyburn saying now? Is Clyburn still race-baiting Bill Clinton? No. Clyburn sees White People.

Clyburn takes the Dumb Black People magisterial magisterium award for this profundity:

“The president’s getting hurt real bad,” Clyburn told me. “He needs some black people around him.”

Paging Sista Michelle X. Michelle X, cancel that luxury trip to Spain (the one you schemed to go on but you knew you first had to go to dumb ol’ Florida or you’d be criticized for all the vacations you’re taking even as you say you are “not far removed” from American suffering). The brother from Hawaii needs your inner Sista Souljah. He’s exhausted with the job. It’s no longer fun. It’s work.

Stop Michelle X from more vacations. With her scowl and Lanvin sneakers she will appeal to the race-baiters and fight the Uncle Toms.

Damn those Uncle Toms who didn’t drink the Hopium. Damn those Uncle Toms who voted character not skin color. Damn those Uncle Toms who are proud to be Americans. Damn those Uncle Toms who proved to be so smart they never did and never will vote for the flim-flam man from Chicago. Damn those Uncle Toms who turn out to be so smart. Damn those Smart Black People. Get rid of them all.

The last thing Michelle X and Barack Obama want to see is Smart Black People.

  1. O has moved on, and the people of this country should move on also. One should not show loyalty to one who has not shown it to you, even if he says in his next term, don’t worry I will take care of you. Remember, the only majority he might have he just did not want to use it or did not know how to use it. If he does not have the majority, he is finished, as he does not know how work with or compromise with the other interests in the United States.

  2. The most scathing criticism of Obama can be found at the “Black Agenda Report”…an example:

” by BAR editor and senior columnist Margaret Kimberley

For Black America, it is the worst of times, but a kind of collective insanity leads African Americans to believe they live in the best of times. A Pew Research Center study shows Blacks are the most upbeat on the economy of any major group, despite being the group most negatively affected by the economy. The root cause of the delirium: Obama.

Black America is now at a lower point politically and economically than in any other time in the post-Jim Crow era. Chattel slavery ended in 1865, segregation was destroyed forty years ago at the same time that voting rights became protected by law. Yet the political life of black America was endangered for some time and its death rattle can now be blamed squarely on the ascendance of Barack Obama.

Black America continues to be held in a trance like state because a man who looks like them sits behind the desk in the oval office. A Pew Research Center study, “How the Great Recession has Changed Life in America,” reports that black Americans were more likely to lose jobs, have pay or work hours reduced, and to lose their homes or have them lose value ever since the so-called Great Recession began.

Despite these very real, provable, measurable indices of black suffering, black people are more likely to be upbeat about the economy. The Pew study indicates that 58% of black respondents report optimism on the economy, 81% still believe their nation is the land of prosperity and they are more likely to believe that life improves generation after generation. The Obama delirium effect is alive and well.

For a number of reasons, it is probable that Barack Obama’s term in office will be the worst period for black people since the dreadful days of segregation. The moneyed classes perfected their takeover of black American political life just as Obama rose to power. The congressional black caucus turned into a shell of its former self, with members bought off by corporate interests. These same interests instigated the rise of politicians like Newark mayor Corey Booker and former Congressman Harold Ford.

Blagojevich judge, attorney clash; jury sent home
    AP

CHICAGO – A lawyer for Rod Blagojevich clashed with the judge in the former Illinois governor’s corruption trial over what he could say in his closing arguments, pledging Monday that he was ready to go to jail for contempt if the judge did not change his mind.

Judge James B. Zagel sent the jury home for the day after Blagojevich’s attorney Sam Adam Jr. complained the judge was gutting his closing arguments by not allowing the defense to mention witnesses that prosecutors did not call.

Prosecutors had mentioned some of those witnesses, including convicted fundraiser Antoin “Tony” Rezko, in their closing argument, and Adam argued the defense should be able to do the same.

“Your honor, I have a man here that is fighting for his life,” Adam said, turning red and raising his hands.

Zagel responded: “You will follow that order because if you don’t follow that order you will be in contempt of court.”

“I’m willing to go to jail on this,” Adam shot back.

Zagel said he was giving Adam the night to rework his closing arguments, given his “profound misunderstanding of legal rules.” He said Adam could designate another defense attorney to give the closing if he couldn’t follow the rules.

After court adjourned, Adam told reporters that prosecutors didn’t call dozens of potential witnesses, and “the jury should know that.”

He said he doesn’t know if he will deliver closing arguments on Tuesday.

“My job as a lawyer is to do everything I can for my client and if (going to jail) is what it takes, if it’s necessary, in a heartbeat,” Adam said.

The prosecution had wrapped up its closing arguments earlier, as did an attorney for Blagojevich’s brother, Robert Blagojevich.

Both men have pleaded not guilty to an alleged scheme to sell the Senate seat that Barack Obama gave up when he was elected president, and to plotting to illegally pressure people for campaign contributions.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Niewoehner started his closing Monday by citing the most famous comment on FBI wiretap tapes played in court — Blagojevich calling the Senate seat “(expletive) golden” and saying he wouldn’t give it up for nothing.

“He did his absolute best to turn (his) newfound power into something golden for himself,” Niewoehner told jurors.

He said Blagojevich was “at the center of corrupt individuals.”

Niewoehner told jurors that Rod Blagojevich need not have made money nor gotten a high-profile job in order for his alleged schemes to be illegal. He also said they shouldn’t be concerned whether Blagojevich actually managed to trade the appointment to Obama’s seat for an ambassadorship or a Cabinet post or any money — only that he made the effort.

“You don’t have to be a successful criminal to be a criminal,” he said.

Nor, he said, should jurors be concerned that they did not hear Blagojevich outright tell those he is accused of shaking down for money what he was doing.

“It does not have to be x for y,” he said.

The prosecutor said that thanks to legal bills and his own lavish spending habits, Blagojevich was deeply in debt. “He needed this golden ticket,” he said.

As Niewoehner described the sometimes profanity-laced language on the FBI tapes, Blagojevich showed little emotion, sometimes biting his lip or rocking slightly in his defense table chair. His wife, Patti, sat a few feet to his left holding their youngest daughter on her lap, sometimes handing her pieces candy. It was the first time their two daughters have been in court.

Blagojevich, 53, has pleaded not guilty to scheming to trade or sell Obama’s old Senate seat and illegally pressuring people for campaign contributions. If convicted, he could face up to $6 million in fines and a sentence of 415 years in prison, though he is sure to get much less time under federal guidelines.

Blagojevich’s attorneys had said earlier that their message to jurors will be simple: “First and foremost, the government has proved nothing,” Sam Adam Jr. said over the weekend.

The former governor’s brother, Nashville, Tenn., businessman Robert Blagojevich, 54, has pleaded not guilty to taking part in the alleged scheme to sell the Senate seat and plotting to illegally pressure a businessman for a campaign contribution. Earlier Monday, prosecutors dropped one of five counts against him, a count of wire fraud.

Robert Blagojevich’s attorney, Michael Ettinger, said in his closing argument that jurors never heard any testimony, any tapes in which Robert Blagojevich said of any campaign contributions: “This is in exchange for something.”

“Raising campaign funds is not illegal. It is not against the law,” he said.

    ————–
Big Pink lawyers please weigh in!!!

Since the Prosecutors already brought up specific witnesses they later did not call, opening the door…does the judge have the ‘right’ to silence the Defense from bringing up these same witnesses???

Something stinks in Denmark when a judge favors one side in what they can say in their closing arguments and not allowing the other side to use the same issues.

I hope the Defense can show the jurors that this is a railroad job favored by the judge, not giving Blago the same rights for his defense.

  5. The new, improved Obama

You have to hand it to US President Barack Obama. He is relentless. Just when you thought he was shifting gears – easing up on Israel and turning his attention to Iran’s nuclear weapons program – he pulls out a zinger.

His recent courtship of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu led some Israelis and supporters of Israel in the US to believe the administration had seen the light. After 18 months, we were told Obama finally realized that contrary to what he had thought, Palestinian statehood is not the most urgent issue in the Middle East, Iran’s nuclear weapons program is.

In the past week alone, two prominent commentators – Aluf Benn from Haaretz and Ehud Ya’ari from Channel 2 both wrote articles claiming that Obama’s Middle East policy has undergone a transformation. As Benn put it, “President Barack Obama’s campaign of wooing Israel reflects a fundamental about-face in US policy in the Middle East.” And in Ya’ari’s words in an article in the Australian, “The foreign policy team of US President Barack Obama is undertaking a reassessment of its policy all over the Middle East, including Israel.”

Both claimed the administration has resolved to cooperate with Israel as an ally rather than attack it as an obstacle to peace, and that Washington has recognized that Iran must be prevented from acquiring nuclear weapons.

The basic notion informing both of these nearly identical articles is that the Obama administration’s foreign policy is fundamentally pragmatic rather than ideologically motivated. Both Ya’ari and Benn, like many of their fellow commentators on the Left, argue that Obama’s decision to invite Netanyahu to Washington and treat him like an ally rather than an enemy is proof that when stripped to its essentials, his foreign policy is pragmatic.

After a year and half in office, Obama recognized that his previous view of the Middle East was wrong. And as a pragmatist, he has embarked on a new course.

Yet before the ink on their proclamations had a chance to dry, Obama demonstrated that their enthusiasm was misplaced. Late last week the administration decided – apropos of nothing – to upgrade the diplomatic status of the PLO mission in Washington.

From now on, the PLO will be allowed to fly its flag like a regular embassy. Its representatives will enjoy diplomatic immunity just like diplomats from states.

Indeed the PLO delegate in Washington Maen Areikat claimed that the administration’s move equates the PLO’s diplomatic status in the US to that of Canada and states in Western Europe.

Some in the media have claimed that this is a symbolic act and essentially meaningless.

But this is not true. While this step does not constitute US recognition of a Palestinian state in the absence of a peace treaty between the Palestinians and Israel, it certainly sends a clear signal that this is the direction the US is heading. As such, it represents a dangerous step that will encourage continued Arab hostility.

TO PUT this move in perspective, it is worth comparing the PLO’s new status to that of the US’s firm ally and fellow democracy – Taiwan, the Republic of China. Whereas the PLO now has a “delegation general” in Washington, Taiwan has the “Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office.”

When asked to comment on the move, White House spokesman Thomas Vietor said, “This decision reflects our confidence that through direct negotiations, we can help achieve a two-state solution with an independent and viable Palestine living side by side with Israel. We should begin preparing for that outcome now, as we continue to work with the Palestinian people on behalf of a better future.”

Like the decision itself, Vietor’s explanation signals that the Obama administration has not embraced pragmatism over ideology. Vietor could never have made his statement if it had.

Any pragmatic analysis of the situation leads to the clear conclusion that there is little chance of the Palestinians agreeing to a settlement anytime soon. Just this past week Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas escalated still further his already unacceptable preconditions for direct negotiations.

Now in addition to his absurd demand that Israel agree ahead of time to withdraw to the indefensible 1949 armistice lines, Abbas is demanding that it also agree to withdraw all of its forces to those lines and accept the deployment of foreign forces along its borders with the Palestinian state.

These are demands that no government in its right mind would accept in direct negotiations, let alone as a precondition for them.

And any pragmatic US administration upon hearing these demands would recognize that there is no chance that the Palestinians will agree to any reasonable offer of a peace treaty in the foreseeable future.

Indeed, for any pragmatic US administration, the message to send at this time is that statehood can be achieved only by getting serious about negotiations. That means clarifying that statehood is not inevitable but, rather a potential result of Abbas deciding to abandon his preconditions and get serious about talks.

In line with this, if the US intends to recognize a Palestinian state formed in the framework of a negotiated peace settlement, then it is utterly ridiculous, in the face of Abbas’ latest pronouncements, for it to upgrade the Palestinians’ diplomatic status. The move makes sense only if the US is secretly preparing to help the Palestinians avoid negotiations and obtain a state that is not established in the framework of a peace treaty.

But then, an administration that is willing to recognize a Palestinian state outside the framework of a peace agreement is an administration that is motivated by ideology and not by pragmatism. Moreover, it is motivated by an ideology that is fundamentally opposed to a strong democratic Israel.

This is the case because there is no Palestinian leader – not the US favorites Mahmoud Abbas and Salam Fayyad and not their competitors in Hamas – who accepts the legitimacy of the Jewish state. And so any state formed outside the framework of a peace treaty will be in a de facto state of war with Israel. Indeed, its legitimacy with the Palestinian people and other Arabs will be defined by its commitment to the eventual destruction of the Jewish state. And now, by upgrading the PLO’s mission, the Obama administration is actively encouraging just such an outcome.

OBAMA’S DECISION shows that he has not allowed reality to interfere with his perception of the absence of a Palestinian state as the most urgent problem he faces in the Middle East. He has adopted other measures that indicate that he remains fundamentally unconcerned about the threat that Iran poses to both US national security and to regional security in the Middle East.

That threat has been spelled out clearly in recent weeks by top US officials. Last week the outgoing US commander in Iraq, Gen. Ray Odierno, told reporters that Iran fields three Shi’ite militias in Iraq whose forces are attempting to attack US troops as they withdraw from the country. Iran’s goal is to present the image that the US is withdrawing in defeat.

As for Afghanistan, last March the Sunday Times reported that Iran is training Taliban fighters at camps inside Iran. Last Wednesday the deputy commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps threatened that US commander Gen. David Petraeus will be overwhelmed by terror in Afghanistan.

Brig.-Gen. Massoud Jazayeri told the Iranian media, “The presence of Petraeus in Afghanistan will increase terrorism and seal the expansion of American failures.

The US government has no chance of success as the igniting flames which will engulf America in Afghanistan are already visible.”

Then there is Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

As CIA Director Leon Panetta said last month, sanctions on Iran will “probably not” deter the regime from moving forward.

This understanding would be sufficient to convince a pragmatic administration that force must be used to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power. A pragmatic administration, after all, could be expected to understand what a nuclear armed Iran would mean for the US’s strategic interests in the region.

If Iran becomes a nuclear power it will be able to wreak havoc on oil shipments from the Persian Gulf. So too, it will make it all but impossible for the US to safely project is military force in the region. The current threat that Iranian proxies will force US troops to flee Iraq and Afghanistan will likely be realized.

Furthermore, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar can be expected to expel US forces from their territory as the regimes cut deals with the new regional nuclear power.

Obama recently ended his public support for appeasing Iran and seemed to adopt a more confrontational approach as he moved to pass a new round of sanctions at the UN Security Council and when he signed congressional sanctions. But rhetoric aside, as Michael Ledeen reported at Pajamas Media Web site last week, his appeasement policy remains in force.

Since 1979 the Swiss Embassy in Teheran has represented US interests. According to Ledeen, last week the Swiss ambassador submitted a request from US congressmen to meet with their Iranian counterparts. The Iranians rejected their request out of hand.

What this means is that the Obama administration – now working through congressional proxies – is still trying to cut a deal with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Ali Khamenei.

All of this makes clear the sort of leader Obama is. He is a pragmatic politician and a radical ideologue all rolled into one. The pragmatic politician understands that going into the congressional elections in November, he has to convince the US public that he is a reliable ally for Israel and that he is credible on Iran. So he invited Netanyahu to Washington for a public hug and he made angry declarations about Iran’s nuclear program.

As an ideologue though, even in the midst of his charm offensive he couldn’t resist the urge to attack the Jewish state, so he signaled that he will recognize a Palestinian state that does not recognize it. And as an ideologue, he can’t stop begging the Iranians to love him.

The desire of commentators like Benn and Ya’ari to believe that the US government is behaving rationally is understandable.

But their wish is unsupported by facts. We can only hope that Netanyahu has not been similarly fooled.

What else is there to say except you strive for and achieve greatness in your writing! If you knew how many of my fellow colored folks called me an Uncle Tom during the campaign, you’d scream. If you knew how many white people, and I mean WHITE people, called me racist for defending Hillary, you’d think I was on drugs. Coming here is my solace and I thank you from the bottom of my heart…

PARIS — Solar photovoltaic systems have long been painted as a clean way to generate electricity, but expensive compared with other alternatives to oil, like nuclear power. No longer. In a “historic crossover,” the costs of solar photovoltaic systems have declined to the point where they are lower than the rising projected costs of new nuclear plants, according to a paper published this month.

What’s that I hear? Wedding bells?

Good. I’m glad she’s taking this time off, she deserves it and she should be able to take the time to enjoy helping Chelsea get ready for the big day.

  14. Just saw and heard the talking head bilge rats at fox and friends( Not Our Friends )criticizing the plans and costs of the wedding for Chelsea. They hate everything about this great first family and we must speak out and show their fair and balanced claim is an illusion and big lie.

  15. admin,

I love that you are an equal opportunity blogger shining the light of scrutiny on ALL parties.

    Bravo.

    ABM,

And what about Mo’s multi-million dollar vacation to Spain? 30 rooms????? And the taxpayers will get hit with THAT bill, not Chelsea’s parents in the case of her wedding.

(Although $2 mill seems awfully high but it’s THEIR money.)

  16. Here’s something to start out the day–more fading Koolaid..

Poll: A Few Cracks in Obama’s Hispanic Support

  17. basil9,

Sorry to read that you have had to deal with cancer. I hope that you are in permanent remission.

  18. About Chelsea Clinton, I just told a relative yesterday that I thought her to be a decent person. This relative is not a Clinton supporter, but a conservative Republican. I indicated that Chelsea’s parents must be given some credit for
raising such a wonderful person. There was no response to my comment, but more importantly, there was no attempt made to denigrate Hillary or Bill. I really do get an extremely positive vibe from Chelsea. I hope that she has a perfect wedding day, and that she has many years of marital bliss.

  19. Sorry, but spending 2 million on a wedding is ludicrous, but they can spend their money however they please. I’d write the same comment about anyone who decided on such an extravagance. I honestly don’t relate to such spending, ever. Nonetheless, I hope Chelsea is happy going forward.

  20. With regards to dumb black people, it is disheartening that BO’s support is still in the 90% range from that group. Although disheartening, it is not surprising. Someone wrote about a tribe mentality upthread, and this type of support unfortunately reflects that concept. Some day, different racial groups will come to realize that country is more important than racial identity, and that unworthy politicians should not be supported regardless of skin color. In this case, the willingness of black America to blindly follow Obama on the path to national destruction is a shortsighted folly. Placing the hopes of black America on a man who has only shown a penchant for self-promotion over anything else will not lead to a better life for the vast majority of the population, regardless of skin color. Flim flam artists play on people’s hopes and fears solely to get what they want, while everyone else is left to their own devices. Obama does not care about you, me, or most anyone else. I just hope that he resigns, and if not, I hope he is a single term president.

    July 27th, 2010 at 3:37 am

    —————

    Mrs. Smith,

I have been waiting to see if any media outlet outside the Jerusalem Post has reported on this issue. There seems to be a blackout. I wonder why.

  22. How do we know for sure that Chelsea’s wedding is costing $2 million? If that is true, wonder how much of that cost is for security to prevent the media and others from ruining the day for her?

  23. Southern Born,

It’s just speculation. I read somewhere today that the cost could go up to $5 million, talking about fancy portapotties of all things.

    LOL…the spin is getting ridiculous.

  24. Who cares what Chelsea’s wedding costs? The media is going to try to spin it negatively. The cost is going to be much more because of a variety of reasons, security being one…..the other? They can easily afford it. Yay for them.

  25. Until we get the cost of the wedding from the Clinton’s
I will not take the word of the FOX political propaganda machine. It is their busines and fheir money.

  26. This BS about Chelsea wedding was on Drudge early yesterday and MSNBC had some slimey talk about it yesterday.

Its their money, they can spend however they want…I’m sure the people that are making the money are enjoying, especially in this economy….Chelsea is doing her part in elevating the economy….very noble if you ask me!

  27. Nice work, Admin on a taboo topic. You balance the well deserved chiding with passion for their betterment. We can’t let them and their stupidity go without response for fear of offending their sensibilities. Nor do we let them off the hook on the faux sentimentality of them getting their dues. They ought to recognize Obama is undeerving of their loyalty.

  28. confloyd,

The ugly media want it both ways. They trash the Clintons whenever they can and then want a piece of the action when this is happening. I’m sure it is only because they are trying to find something negative and damaging about the Clintons as usual.

  29. First, it is Chelsea’s wedding, and they can spend on it what they can afford to spend.

Second, why should she be denied a beautiful wedding if her parents can afford it. After all, she had had to endure a lot of stuff, from the day she can remember because of who her parents are. To me, she is entited to it.

Third, how much of that expense is due to security, which they must have because of who they are.

I know I am a person who watches every nickel and dime, but Chelsea has given a lot of her privacey up, and she deserve to have her wedding special, if they can afford it.

Just rememeber her childhood and how some talked about her, how her hair looked, what boyfriends she had, if she went off to some party with drinking, she cannot remember a day when heaven forbid she accidently did something stupid and it was on the front page of a newspaper someplace. Yet she handled it with grace and dignity. She also accompanied her Mother on some of her international trips, not for a vacation, but to meet and learn about the people. She also gave up her life for one year to help her mother run and she was called a whore for that. Let’s face it, if she had sued for defamation of character for that, she could have easily gotten $5M.

  30. The media is being ugly about the wedding cause they aren’t invited…that is all there is to it…

  31. Its not like we taxpayers are paying for this wedding like we are paying for MO’s 30-room freaking vacation. MSNBC needs to STFU. I am happy for Chelsea!

  32. Someone was asking about Hillary taking time off now to relax and get ready for the wedding. Cute picture of Hillary…

    ————–
Hillary Clinton Was Clearly Hurting for Reading Material on Her Flight

    7/27/10

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton flew into New York last night after clearing her public schedule for the rest of the week to concentrate on Chelsea’s wedding. Hopefully Israel and Palestine aren’t going to call and be like, “Hey, Hillary, it’s Israel and Palestine, we’re finally ready to be friends, call us back before we change our minds.” Anyway, sitting nearby on her flight was William Daroff of the Jewish Federation of North America, who reported via Twitter that Clinton “read WP, NYT, SkyMall, & the ‘Mayo Clinic Women’s Health Source.'”

What does it matter anyway- There are reported to be 400-500 guests. Except for relatives, you can guarantee each and every one of them have been tapped for hefty donations over the years.

Besides being guests, Chelsea’s wedding is a nice way of saying thank you to all for their loyal support over the years from the entire family. Creating memories their guests will treasure for the rest of their lives. Treating them to a first class event that will be forever commemorated as an unforgetable Wedding of America’s Royalty in the pages of our history books.

    (especially if Hillary becomes 44)

  34. I expect the Clinton’s and Chelsea’s husband-to-be are enjoying great amusement over this media-invoked wedding kerfluffle.

  35. I agree the Clinton’s should spend whatever they want on Chelsea’s wedding. Personally, if I had that kind of money I would never spend it on a wedding but that’s just me. They can spend their money however the deem fit. It’s NOT taxpayer money as is the case with MO’s Marie Antoinette let-them-eat-cake Spain escapade.

MSM should be jumping all over THAT instead of prying into the details of Chelsea’s wedding but I won’t hold my breath waiting for them to cover the Squats.

    Nomobama,

Thank you. I just had my 6 month post-chemo check-up and I’m still in remission. While lymphoma is not curable it is manageable and for now I seem to be in good condition. I am so grateful for this second chance and I feel great! I’m back to roughly 85 percent of pre-treatment energy. Every day is a blessing.

    __________________________

The irony is: Bill and Hillary (as taxpayers) are paying for both! 🙂

  37. basil9, Glad to hear your good news about your health.

Why can’t they just leave Chelsea alone…its her wedding and its their money. MSNBC is just probably trying to cover something up for the “One”.

I also heard that Obama was not going to the wedding….GOOD!

  38. Remember Bill and Hillary got married in their new modest home living room, Hillary last minute went out and got a dress are Dillards. They went on a modest honeymoon. Then HRC had a lot of trouble having Chelsea, and then was told she could have no more children.

Instead of raising a spoiled child and giving her everything, they raised one who has learn how to speak in public, who loves and sacrifices for her parents, and when I saw her, handled someone in the crowded who was distressed with the utmost respected and caring.

  39. I am so over talking about race, the woman that lost her job and got it back and the cost of Chelsea’s wedding.

  40. John BOlton just said that he can’t believe that with what the last two administrations knew about Iran and how they were fueling the fire in Afganistan, why did they ever think they could talk to these folks…John Bolton is ready to go after Iran!

We know BUsh was only interested in Iraq, but the “One” thought he could just calm the waters in Iran and the rest of the world with ust his voice. These administrations have let Iran get away with everything.

  41. Thank you, Jan.

I was reluctant to post about it but Nomobama provided the opportunity.

I appreciate all the wonderful posters here who have done a stellar job of keeping me from dwelling on health issues and focused on far more interesting matters!

I got the results a couple of weeks ago. Remsision for my particular type os 5 to 7 years, or so the doctor says.

Anyway, I intend to NOT think about it anymore unless forced to!

    😀

  42. Shadowfax,

EXACTLY and they know it too.

A new oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico…some tug boat sheared off a pipe and now oil is spewing 20′ in the air…WTF is going on.

  43. So if the cleanup crew can’t ‘find’ the oil in the Gulf because it had dispersants added to it, making a toxic soup…does that mean BP can claim their job is done, and life is back to normal???? %$3@&%!#!!

Isn’t BP now responsible for the toxic soup, and need to clean all the oil out of the water below the surface?

This is just what BP wanted to do, hide the oil and walk away.
Out of sight, out of mind.

  44. Shadowfax, That is exactly what they wanted to do…thats why they sprayed those despersant on it…its below the surface killing all life and now there’s a new leak. They don’t even know who owns this pipe that is broken.

What a mess and why all of the sudden are these pipes in the Gulf of Mexico causing all this grief….

  45. Where did they get a $2mil figure if all of the other details of the wedding have been super hush hush, to the point even the guests don’t know yet where it is being held at? And if the $2mil is in the ballpark, why are the groom’s family responsibilities towards the wedding not being factored in as a part of this quoted sum? It wouldn’t surprise me a bit to find out that this alleged $2mil is all for security expences, guests are coming in from around the world. Anything else the Clintons spend on it is none of our business. The media as usual can go to hell.

Something I have in common with the Clintons is that I was married in Little Rock right around the same time they were by a few months. I too had only one child, a daughter, and I have said many times Chelsea reminds me of my daughter in many ways. My daughter happens to be the maid of honor in a very nice wedding this coming Saturday that I’m looking forward to attending, and it has made me smile for weeks knowing it will be Chelsea’s big day too. I’ll be toasting Hillary & Bill to myself that night with a huge smile. By Goddess when she finally decides to get married the sky would be the limit for my only child. If anyone doesn’t like it they can join the media in that handbasket.

MSNOBC needs something to make people forget about the taxpayer’s huge waste of the WH dog getting his own plane recently and all of their bimonthly vacations, or is it biweekly since we can’t keep up on their jetsetting. They should be asking if the dog gets another plane to himself on the outlandish trip to Spain, or how much Barack is going to waste on his big birthday paartaay with his 99 Problems Butt buds and quote all of those costs. Yep I’m sure they’ll cover that any decade now…

  46. Well, of couse the View had to discuss the wedding. The list say that $200 for security, which is less thatn $250 for flowers. So, I might spend that on flowers, because I like them and want them at my wedding.

The interesting thing was they probably talked as much about the Clintons, as they did O and his appearance on their show.

  48. Closing arguments are being posted for Blago by his defense…

Sounds like the judge is not intending to put the defense in jail, (he said he never used that word ‘jail’) if they bring up the witnesses that the prosecutors didn’t call to the stand, Rezko, Rahm…etc. Jugde said, you can talk about them but I will cut you off and make you sit down, so you should save those comments for the end of your closing.

So far, what’s posted sounds good in the closing statements for Blago…

  49. Too bad the media has not spent as much time looking for Os birth certificate. If they had, perhaps before the primary, we might have had copy of that published for all to see. But then that did not ser the Jounalist agenda.

  50. Was it on here that I read and then adopted my favorite phrase for now? The phrase”

I love me some Sarah Palin so much: I can see NOVEMBER from my house!!!

  51. basil9 I am glad to hear of your continued remission. My Dad had malignant lymphoma. Bless you.

They don’t even know who owns this pipe that is broken.

What a mess and why all of the sudden are these pipes in the Gulf of Mexico causing all this grief….
    ——–
Makes me wonder how many times this has happened in the past and the news was hidden from the public. Not only are there thousands of well holes plugged and unplugged there since the 1940’s, but the cement and pipe decomposes over time…

All the life in the area that has died or ingested the oil, the food chain contaminated for decades…we don’t really know.

  53. Some sensationalist claim is made and suddenly everyone starts talking as though it were true!

Against Palin, against Gore, against the Clintons. We should not circulate such smears, much less talk like we believed them.

I won’t even circulate the story about Obama’s dog unless it’s verified!

  54. 😳

    Thanks shadowfax and shorttermer.

I feel honored by the good wishes.

I HATE being sick, ill, weak and the last couple of years kicked my butt but good.

I do not make a good patient so I hope there’s no flare-up in the near future but if there is I will deal with it. Ironically, I have started an entirely new career during the illness – freelancing for several local newspapers. I am up to 10-12 stories a week. Strange what life brings when you least expect it. This is one job I could mostly do from home.

    I am definitely blessed.

Sorry about your dad, Shorttermer. Mine is not as severe. It’s non-Hodgins and slow-moving. And for now it’s GONE!

    😀

  55. Shadowfax, This is why the republicans say that the Gulf of Mexico seabed just “seeps oil all the time”. I guess some folks are dumb enough to believe that….it seeps because of all the pipes that are broken in it.

This pipe looks like its pretty close to shore…could be sabotage.

Charlie Rangel is meeting with the wicked witch of the west (Nasty), I feel sorry for that old man…he is just the latest scapegoat…I know he’s dirty…but they are all…the whole lot! They want his seat for someone else who will cooperate.

  56. 2 Arrested At Clinton’s Wedding Site

Expect Vigilance At Chelsea’s Wedding Location (CBS)

For the curious looking to snap a picture or wander the grounds where the daughter of a former president and a sitting secretary of state is expected to get married, police have some advice: Cut it out or face arrest.

State troopers working with the U.S. Secret Service say they have gotten more calls than usual related to the posh Astor Estate in Rhinebeck, an upstate town where two Norwegian journalists were charged with trespassing as they snapped photos at the estate’s gate. The journalists were on assignment, covering Chelsea Clinton’s expected wedding at the estate for the Oslo newspaper Verdens Gang.

Clinton, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, is expected to marry investment banker Marc Mezvinsky there on July 31, media reports say.

State police Maj. Michael A. Kopy said officers will be diligent about keeping the estate secure.

“We’re aware of the visit by the former president of the United States and are working with the U.S. Secret Service as we do with all visits by protectees of the Secret Service,” Kopy said. “We’re responding to calls (around the estate). Anybody who is located on the grounds of the estate will be arrested and prosecuted.”
Just ask Thomas Bjorn Nilsson and Kjerste Sortland. They were charged with a violation after they were stopped Wednesday afternoon on the estate, in a picturesque town along the Hudson River, 90 miles north of New York City, police said.

Kopy said Nilsson, a photographer based in New York City, and Sortland, an editor based in Norway, identified themselves as journalists and were taking pictures. He didn’t know if the images were confiscated and wasn’t aware whether they mentioned the Clinton wedding.

The two arrested journalists are due in court Aug. 12.

Good old Ed (Rendell) never did drink all the koolade.

He compares BO’s The View appearance to going on Jerry Springer.

    hehehehehe.

‘I think there are some shows . . . I wouldn’t put him on ‘Jerry Springer’ either, right? . . . It is different, a little bit. But look, I think the president of the United States has to go on serious shows. And ‘The View’ is –‘

    _____________
I find this to be an over-reaction. Of course, just before the wedding day everything should be checked to ensure privacy, but to arrest someone a week before. I am still smarting from working in the cage for a week during the G20 a month ago and the loss of civil liberties (secret arrest bills enacted, etc.)and people being denied the ability to work while the G20 had their weekend party. The thing is that innocent people were arrested but they are still looking for the anarchists. It makes no sense to criminalize everyone. Maybe police should just infiltrate the crowds and catch the bad guys and leave the innocents alone.
But to arrest someone a week before a wedding. That just seems wrong.

  59. Michelle Obama seeks ‘signatures’ for Obama’s birthday card

It’s President Obama’s birthday next week, and the First Lady wants your electronic signature for a virtual birthday card.

(Because her marriage is so great she and one daughter will be celebrating the birthday without Obama, but 30 5-star rooms full of people will party in Spain, while her birthday hubby goes to Chicago to celebrate with his bros.)

Michelle Obama wrote an email asking supporters today to wish the president a happy 49th birthday by affixing their name, email and personal message to a “card” on the Organizing for America website. (Don’t be surprised if your signature earns you a place on OFA’s mailing list).

“Together with other Organizing for America supporters — and me, Malia, Sasha, and Bo — we’ll wish him a happy birthday and let him know that we’re ready to take on the year ahead alongside him,” she wrote.

Coincidentally, the First Lady and daughter Malia will be on vacation in Spain during the president’s birthday, so perhaps the card is her way of making amends. (Sure, what Obot bs!)

  60. confloyd,

Having watched Rangle upclose for decades, specially when I lived in NYC, and after seeing how he backstabbed HRC I have zero sympathy for him. The deal with having four rent-controlled apartments is obscene! Rents on those units are next-to-nothing. He knew he wasn’t entitled to keep all those leases but that didn’t stop him. The value of the apartments alone over decades in NYC is probably close to if not more than a million. He is a crook. I say good riddance.

  61. I’m sure MO would also love it if you make a generous ‘donation’ to help pay for her vacation in Spain…she needs more tax money to shop.

While I believe that Chelsea is entitled to her privacy, I think a week in advance is a bit much. Like I said, I’m still smarting.

  70. Yeah, but these guys are sneaky, they could put in some hidden camera’s and afterall Bill and Hillary are protected by secret service and if they think folks should get arrested for the safety of our ex-President then we need to let them do their jobs.

    ====================

On the one hand, local village and county police may be over-reacting; that village doesn’t get such visitors every day.

Otoh, in the US we worry about serious terrorism: someone planting a bomb, or planning a vehicle-suicide attack. Which would involve advance planning, photographing the area, etc. And which could not be foiled by police infiltrating the crowd at the last minute.

Personally I think such big closed events should be held away from populated areas. They should all fly in to an island somewhere. (Even that seems too much for someone in Chelsea’s position: why don’t they just elope?)

  74. What are we to make of Barack’s decision to go on the view. On one level it promises to be a real thrilla in manila, second only to booby for apples with Aunt Opra. You can watch him yourself as he flirts with his two adoring grandmothers Baaabaawaaawaaa and screech owl Behaaarrrr. Like the Billie Holiday song say You Don’t Know What Love Is, until you have seen this orgy. On another level however it is telling. This could be interpreted as a fight or flight response from the challenges (we no longer use the word problems, or terrorists etc.) of his day job. For what it is worth, I have seen this gig before from CEO’s who are overwhelmed by the job that they revert back to doing simpler tasks and letting the rest world go by until they get fired. On the other hand, since dims do not want him running around in their districts this fall, and it is hot as blazes in Washington this time of year literally and figuratively so that may be part of it too. How hot? So hot that he should be in Spain with his family rather than doing cheap theater like this.
