The Boy Raised By Wolves And His Health Scams And Schemes

After the loss of his father, Germanicus, little Caligula grew up to be an odder boy and an even more bizarre man. As Emperor, Caligula appointed his horse to be a Senator in the Roman Senate. So is it any wonder that a boy raised by wolves appoints his handsome cook to a senior policy position?

In Obama besotted Washington such an insular appointment does not trigger the revulsion it should. Want to advance in life? Get a job for a rich and powerful family and you too can go from cook to policy adviser. With all the many unemployed nutritional experts and short order cooks in the nation few bat an eyelash that Obama’s cook gets to be a policy maker too. But such is the disconnect from America and bitter and clingy Americans, that this daft disconnected executive displays at every turn.

Now that the cook is raised to tribune status, it is the dog who flies on his own jet, the eponymous BO, we expect to soon be named a Senator or perhaps Canine Excelsior in charge of recreational activities.

The Obama disconnect can be understood by examining the latest poll data from Politico.

A new poll by Politico shows that Beltway denizens are much happier with the state of the nation than those whom they supposedly serve, and for good reason:

America is struggling with a sputtering economy and high unemployment — but times are booming for Washington’s governing class.

The massive expansion of government under President Barack Obama has basically guaranteed a robust job market for policy professionals, regulators and contractors for years to come. The housing market, boosted by the large number of high-income earners in the area, many working in politics and government, is easily outpacing the markets in most of the country. And there are few signs of economic distress in hotels, restaurants or stores in the D.C. metro area.

As a result, there is a yawning gap between the American people and D.C.’s powerful when it comes to their economic reality — and their economic perceptions.

A new POLITICO poll, conducted by market research and consulting firm Penn Schoen Berland, underscores the big divide: Roughly 45 percent of “Washington elites” said the country and the economy are headed in the right direction, while roughly 25 percent of the general population said they felt that way.

The disconnect is highlighted by the fact that the poll itself is skewed away from present day reality:

“The poll sample consists of 38% Democrats and 31% Republicans, with 22% claiming to be independent and the remaining 9% unclear on the concept. The seven-point margin is the same size as the popular vote gap by which Obama won office, which is hardly a good indication of accuracy after almost two years of Tea Party organizing and serious damage to Obama’s support. This sample overemphasizes Democratic input while shortchanging Republicans and especially independents.”

In this vertiginous world of unreality, major news personalities are not aware of the news. The latest news on the news is that Bob Schieffer did not ask Attorney General Eric Holder about the Black Panther intimidation scandal because Schieffer did not know about the story. The news personalities who purport to tell us the news do not know what their readers and viewers know. It’s the blind leading the sighted.

In March of this year, we wrote “It’s Not A Mandate – It’s A Tax!” about Obama’s health scam. Big Media refused to take notice of that obvious fact. Big Media refused to see, or to report what it saw.

It was obvious all along that it was a tax. Obama of course promised “no new taxes”.

It’s taken a while, but yesterday the New York Times informed its readers what we informed our readers about months ago. It’s a tax:

“When Congress required most Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty, Democrats denied that they were creating a new tax. But in court, the Obama administration and its allies now defend the requirement as an exercise of the government’s “power to lay and collect taxes.

And that power, they say, is even more sweeping than the federal power to regulate interstate commerce.

Administration officials say the tax argument is a linchpin of their legal case in defense of the health care overhaul and its individual mandate, now being challenged in court by more than 20 states and several private organizations.”

Obama lied with his big Joker grin. Obama cannot be trusted. Obama is a liar:

“While Congress was working on the health care legislation, Mr. Obama refused to accept the argument that a mandate to buy insurance, enforced by financial penalties, was equivalent to a tax.

“For us to say that you’ve got to take a responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase,” the president said last September, in a spirited exchange with George Stephanopoulos on the ABC News program “This Week.”

When Mr. Stephanopoulos said the penalty appeared to fit the dictionary definition of a tax, Mr. Obama replied, “I absolutely reject that notion.”

Congress anticipated a constitutional challenge to the individual mandate. Accordingly, the law includes 10 detailed findings meant to show that the mandate regulates commercial activity important to the nation’s economy. Nowhere does Congress cite its taxing power as a source of authority.”

The courts will doubtless note that the Obama scam does not cite the tax power as a source of authority. Even Obama supporters acknowledge Obama’s dishonesty on the issue:

“Jack M. Balkin, a professor at Yale Law School who supports the new law, said, “The tax argument is the strongest argument for upholding” the individual-coverage requirement.

Mr. Obama “has not been honest with the American people about the nature of this bill,” Mr. Balkin said last month at a meeting of the American Constitution Society, a progressive legal organization. “This bill is a tax. Because it’s a tax, it’s completely constitutional.”

He’s a liar, pure and simple.

Obama simply cannot be trusted. Obama cannot be trusted on any issue. Obama cannot be trusted by his friends. Obama cannot be trusted by his enemies. Obama cannot be trusted.

That’s not the only Obama health scam the New York Times and Big Media are finally informing their readers of. All the promises of keeping your own doctor are defunct too:

“As the Obama administration begins to enact the new national health care law, the country’s biggest insurers are promoting affordable plans with reduced premiums that require participants to use a narrower selection of doctors or hospitals.

The plans, being tested in places like San Diego, New York and Chicago, are likely to appeal especially to small businesses that already provide insurance to their employees, but are concerned about the ever-spiraling cost of coverage.

But large employers, as well, are starting to show some interest, and insurers and consultants expect that, over time, businesses of all sizes will gravitate toward these plans in an effort to cut costs.

The tradeoff, they say, is that more Americans will be asked to pay higher prices for the privilege of choosing or keeping their own doctors if they are outside the new networks. That could come as a surprise to many who remember the repeated assurances from President Obama and other officials that consumers would retain a variety of health-care choices.”

“No new taxes, keep your doctor” – all Obama lies. The Obama lies are many. Here is another one on the health scam:

“If Massachusetts is the laboratory for ObamaCare, consider this an explosion. The Boston Globe reports that employers have begun doing precisely what everyone knew they would do when insurance prices spiked: dump health plans. Companies that used to offer health-care coverage are paying the fines and saving money by dumping their employees into state-run coverage (via Newsalert):

The relentlessly rising cost of health insurance is prompting some small Massachusetts companies to drop coverage for their workers and encourage them to sign up for state-subsidized care instead, a trend that, some analysts say, could eventually weigh heavily on the state’s already-stressed budget.

This is all not news. These are facts we reported on when they were relevant to the debate. The only relevance at this point is to note Obama’s continuing lies and Big Media irrelevance when it matters.

The Boston Globe report on health care in Massachusetts must be augmented with this Samuelson report:

“If you want a preview of President Obama’s health-care “reform,” take a look at Massachusetts. In 2006, it enacted a “reform” that became a model for Obama. What’s happened since isn’t encouraging. The state did the easy part: expanding state-subsidized insurance coverage. It evaded the hard part: controlling costs and ensuring that spending improves people’s health. Unfortunately, Obama has done the same. [snip]

Emergency rooms remain as crowded as ever…. Finally — and most important — health costs continue to soar.

Aside from squeezing take-home pay (employers provide almost 70 percent of insurance), higher costs have automatically shifted government priorities toward health care and away from everything else — schools, police, roads, prisons, lower taxes. In 1990, health spending represented about 16 percent of the state budget, says the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation. By 2000, health’s share was 22 percent. In 2010, it’s 35 percent. About 90 percent of the health spending is Medicaid.

State leaders have proved powerless to control these costs. Facing a tough reelection campaign, Gov. Deval Patrick effectively ordered his insurance commissioner to reject premium increases for small employers (50 workers or fewer) and individuals — an unprecedented step. Commissioner Joseph Murphy then disallowed premium increases ranging from 7 percent to 34 percent. The insurers appealed; hearing examiners ruled Murphy’s action illegal.”

There has been no health care reform. The only reform has been more money for Big Insurance and Big PhaRma.

“Similar forces will define Obamacare. Even if its modest measures to restrain costs succeed — which seems unlikely — the effect on overall spending would be slight. The system’s fundamental incentives won’t change. The lesson from Massachusetts is that genuine cost control is avoided because it’s so politically difficult. [snip]

Obama dodged the tough issues in favor of grandstanding. Imitating Patrick, he’s already denouncing insurers’ rates, as if that would solve the spending problem. What’s occurring in Massachusetts is the plausible future: Unchecked health spending shapes government priorities and inflates budget deficits and taxes, with small health gains. And they call this “reform”?”

No it was not reform. Universal health care died when Ted Kennedy race-baited for Barack Obama. Obama’s “heath reform” has always been a scam, as we reported long ago. The junk reform which transfers massive wealth to Big Insurance and Big PhaRma is the junk reform Hillary Clinton refused to accept in the 1990s.

The Obama disconnect and lies continue to gush forth. The latest lies are exposed by forced-to-retire David Obey:

“The secretary of education [Arne Duncan] is whining about the fact he only got 85 percent of the money he wanted .… [W]hen we needed money, we committed the cardinal sin of treating him like any other mere mortal. We were giving them over $10 billion in money to help keep teachers on the job, plus another $5 billion for Pell, so he was getting $15 billion for the programs he says he cares about, and it was costing him $500 million [in reductions to the Race to the Top program]. Now that’s a pretty damn good deal. So as far as I’m concerned, the secretary of education should have been happy as hell. He should have taken that deal and smiled like a Cheshire cat. He’s got more walking around money than every other cabinet secretary put together.

It blows my mind that the White House would even notice the fight [over Race to the Top]. I would have expected the president to say to the secretary, “Look, you’re getting a good deal, for God’s sake, what this really does is guarantee that the rest of the money isn’t going to be touched.” We gave [Duncan] $4.3 billion in the stimulus package, no questions asked. He could spend it any way he wants.I trusted the secretary, so I gave him a hell of a lot more money than I should have.

My point is that I have been working for school reform long before I ever heard of the secretary of education, and long before I ever heard of Obama. And I’m happy to welcome them on the reform road, but I’ll be damned if I think the only road to reform lies in the head of the secretary of education.”

Good riddance to David Obey. Only now does Obey mention that Obama was never around for any fight. In 2007 we repeatedly asked “who is this guy?” No one knew the answer. Obama never participated in any national debate and never fought for anything other than for himself. But Kennedy/Kerry/Daschle anointed him for the Democratic nomination years before public declarations of support. Now Obey complains that he never heard of Obama. Obey has more to say about Obama’s schemes behind the scenes:

“We were told we have to offset every damn dime of [new teacher spending]. Well, it ain’t easy to find offsets, and with all due respect to the administration their first suggestion for offsets was to cut food stamps. Now they were careful not to make an official budget request, because they didn’t want to take the political heat for it, but that was the first trial balloon they sent down here. … Their line of argument was, well, the cost of food relative to what we thought it would be has come down, so people on food stamps are getting a pretty good deal in comparison to what we thought they were going to get. Well isn’t that nice. Some poor bastard is going to get a break for a change.”

Where are the great fake liberals of the “creative class” with their great fake outrage? Where are the Big Blog Boys denouncing Obama and his money grab from food stamps – all in secret?

David Obey’s revelations of behind the scenes Obama scams and grabs are shocking only to the somnambulant Hopium Guzzlers. While these are battles between the teacher unions and budgetary conflicts, the overall fact to notice is the duplicity and hidden from public view ugliness of Barack Obama’s cowardly refusal to acknowledge and defend his own policy proposals.

Like Caligula at the end, Obama will meet his fate at the hands of those closest to him. After November, when the election results roll in, the Obama Praetorian Guard will unsheathe their political swords and cut him loose. It will be ugly, but it will be necessary for their own survival.

Barack Obama, the boy raised by wolves, will politically be cut down by other wolves. We hear the howling already.

    Great post Admin.

Barry and his MO had better party like it’s 1999 before November, cause his veto-only pen won’t have much power when Nasty is blown sky high off her perch and Reid is sent back to prune cactus in AZ.

November is the time the disenfranchised voters will be released from under the bus to seek their revenge.

  2. ShadowFax, this is the last link we posted in the article:

    http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,2004646,00.html

Under pressure, the Democrats are cracking. On both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue, there is a realization that Nancy Pelosi’s hold on the speakership is in true jeopardy; that losing control of the Senate is not out of the question; and that time, once the Democrats’ best friend, is now their mortal enemy. Since January, when Scott Brown won Ted Kennedy’s Massachusetts Senate seat, the President’s party has tried to downplay in public what its pollsters have been saying in private: that Obama’s alienation of independents and white voters, along with the enthusiasm gap between the right and the left, means that Republicans are on a trajectory to pick up massive numbers of House and Senate seats, perhaps even to regain control of Congress. [snip]

What has kept the easily panicked denizens of Capitol Hill from open revolt until now was a shared confidence that there was still plenty of time to turn things around, and that the White House had a strategy to do just that.

The two-part scheme was pretty straightforward. First, Democrats planned a number of steps to head off, or at least soften, the anti-Washington, anti-incumbent, anti-Obama sentiment that cost them the Massachusetts seat. Pass health care, and other measures to demonstrate that Democrats could get things done for the middle class; continue to foster those fabled green shoots on the economy, harvesting the positive impact of the massive economic stimulus bill passed early in the Administration; heighten the contrast between the two parties by delivering on Wall Street reform and a campaign-funding law to counteract January’s controversial Supreme Court decision. Use all of those elements to contrast the Democrats’ policies under Obama with the Republicans’ policies under Bush, rather than allow the midterms to be a referendum on the incumbent party.

The second strand of the Democrats’ plan was more prosaic and mechanical. Recruit strong candidates for open seats. Leverage the White House and congressional majorities to raise more money than the other side. Make mischief by playing up the divisions between the Tea Party and the more traditional elements of the Republican Party, in part to increase the chances that more extreme, less electable candidates edge out moderates in GOP primary battles. Do extensive opposition research and targeted messaging in the fall to delegitimize Republican candidates in the minds of centrist voters. Coordinate below the radar with labor unions, environmentalists and other allies on get-out-the-vote efforts, focusing on young, nonwhite and first-time voters who came out for Obama in 2008.[snip]

First, it forced Pelosi & Co. to recognize that the first part of their plan is failing. Public and private polling suggests that anxiety over the lack of jobs and anger over the big-spending ways of the Administration will trump the merits of the stimulus spending, health care reform and the financial regulation bill in voters’ minds. Neither the economy nor voters’ perceptions are likely to be turned around by Election Day. [snip]

But if the party’s poll numbers stay bad and it loses big, expect a fundamental difference between the White House and congressional Democrats to emerge in sharp relief after Nov. 2.

Even if the midterms end the Democrats’ one-party rule, the President may well believe that his accomplishments during his first two years in office were worth it. But it’s a sure bet that the vanquished House Democrats who lose their jobs and their gavels won’t share that assessment.

The long knives will be unsheathed.

November can’t come soon enough, payback has been a long time comin’.

    Thanks for that post Admin.

  4. Admin: two quotes re. Caligula which apply equally to Mr. Obama aka the boy who was raised by wolves

    Speaking of Caligula (aka Obama)
    Chaerea: Give him enough rope…
Longinus: …and perhaps, he’ll hang us all.

[Caligula is sick with the fever]
Ass Kissing BOT: I offer my life if Jupiter will only spare our beloved Emperor!
    Caligula: Jupiter accepts your offer.
    [Caligula turns to his guards]
    Caligula: Execute him.

The game that ruins nations: the explosion of bureaucracy. In Viet Nam we had 25 staff people for every soldier in the field. You can probably triple that number where Barack is concerned. This is unconscionable at a time of record deficits, unsustainable national debt and the worst unemployment since the great depression.

  6. It will be interesting to see what Mr. Obama does about our impending financial crisis which he helped engineer:

    1. cut benefits

    2. raise taxes

    3. inflate the dollar

    4. all of the above

But he and his fellow dimocrats do not dare tell us the truth until after the election. It might spoil their chances in 2010 and 2012.

  7. Let me get this straight, BO the dog that they did not want flies on his own plane at my and your expense. Harmless white haired medically fragile great-grandmothers are subjected to extra special screening that includes allowing strangers to view them naked via a machine, searches, electronic scans, shoe removal, and such over and over again on flights that are beyond the realm expensive, but that is okey dokie with The Won? I call this criminal.

Not the America I grew up in. Not the America my great-grandchildren need.

  8. World Leaders and their people line up to see and hear Hillary where ever she travels world wide.

Obama Lacks Faith In The American People

Barack Obama is out accusing the Republican Party of a lack of faith in the American people.

But it is Barack Obama who thinks the government must tell people what they can and cannot eat.

It is Barack Obama who thinks the government must tell people what insurance they must have.

It is Barack Obama who believes the government must regulate bank charges, overdraft fees, and everything else for the American people.

It is Barack Obama who lacks faith in the American people. His faith is not in the people nor in God, but in government. And the public has no faith in Barack Obama.

In fact, the Democrats are beginning to contemplate life in the minority. They are fearing a Senate loss. Why?

Because while Barack Obama is accusing the Republicans of lacking faith in the American people, the American people lack faith in the Democrats to do anything other than ruin this country.

It’s hard to honestly accuse the GOP of lacking faith in the American people when the GOP is seeing the American people return them to power while repudiating Barack Obama.

  10. The beauty of the health care bill is that it is so ponderous, so comprehensive and so onerous that every time public opinion regresses to the mean, some opponent can quote Pelosi that we need to pass this bill to find out what is in it, and here is another little toxic piece they never told you about. The gift that keeps giving to the opposing party.

  11. Oh My, admin, I loved this post….the knives will be unsheathed, now he will know how it felt when Hillary had that done to her. Of coarse, he won’t even remember that.

My mama always taught me “What goes around comes around” most times its double what you did to someone else.

Your right about how many folks Obama has hired that is on the government payroll…I expect the Washington to blow this out of hiding by tomorrow.

Hillary is immune…flying around the world to fix and repair after the two misfits. Her time is coming…I can hardly wait!!

It’s possible that ChicagObama is beginning to get the drift. Check out the first picture associated with the article below. POTUS has a flat smile, and the females are literally looking down.

Obama Vacation Day Three: And, we’re back
They look thrilled to be home! (ap photo)
The Obamas were up and out of Bar Harbor, Maine this morning and back to the White House. On their last night in Maine Saturday, the first couple enjoyed dinner at local restaurant, Havana. We were sad for print pooler Mike Memoli of the Chicago Tribune. He had to sit in a van all night waiting on the Obamas, and was unable to sample the delights of Mount Desert Island. Such is the glamorous life of a White House reporter on the road! From the date night pool report: After more than hour and a half date night dinner at Havana, POTUS and FLOTUS left the restaurant via back entrance and out of sight of the pool. The motorcade was rolling at 9:14, taking a side street that avoided the crowds of people that crowded sidewalks of Main Street, perhaps disappointing many who’d been waiting at least an hour for a glimpse of the first couple No further readout on their date night but poolers thoroughly enjoyed the quality of food and service at Poor Boy’s Gourmet Restaurant where we ate, and recommend it.

Since the tiny Bar Harbor airport couldn’t accomodate the lumbering bulk of the usual Air Force One plane, the first family flew on a tiny Gulfstream, with staff in a chaser plane. 13. Oh i beg to differ Biden, she is NOT, nowhere near. Biden needs a slap. I could laugh myself silly.

Biden calls Speaker Pelosi ‘most powerful person’ in politics

Vice President Joe Biden heaped praise upon Speaker Nancy Pelosi at a Monday fundraiser for a House candidate, calling her the “most powerful person in U.S. politics.”

Biden credited Pelosi (D-Calif.) with being the chief person behind the massive healthcare reform law, which passed in March.

Building off Rep. Allyson Schwartz’s (D-Pa.) comment that Pelosi is the most powerful woman in politics, Biden said “I would rephrase that: the most powerful person in American politics.

“The single most successful, the single most persuasive, the single most strategic leader I have ever worked with is Nancy Pelosi,” he added, according to a pool report. ”Nancy, you are the mother of healthcare.”

Oh and Nan, you’ll be out of a job in Nov.

  14. moon,

You noted in the last thread that you couldn’t wait for a repub to take obama’s old seat.

Given the evil doings of both parties, I’m personally thinking that an independent is the only answer here. Having repubs gain more seats is like the saying…damned if you do and damned if you don’t. It’s the equivalent of the lesser of the two evils which isn’t saying much.

  15. an Independent will never get the vote in Chicago due to the fraud involved, too much to lose, if a snub is going to be administered its going to have to be the repub first and that will be like a knife in Obama’s heart.

    One step at a time,guys.

Deliver the blow in 2010 and then look forward.

Bill Clinton’s ‘bucket list’: Grandchildren first, but also Mt. Kilimanjaro

A wistful Bill Clinton offered his personal “bucket list” today, a reference to the 2007 film in which characters played by Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman draw up a list of things they want to do before they die (i.e., kick the bucket).

“What I’d really like to do, if I could have my wishes, I would like to live to see my own grandchildren,” Clinton said today while delivering the keynote address at the 18th International AIDS Conference in Vienna.

“And I’d like to live to know that all the grandchildren of the world will have the chance in the not too distant future to live their own dreams and not die before their time.”

Clinton is getting closer to his own grandkids; daughter Chelsea is scheduled to be married later this month.

That’s the “A list,” added Clinton, who turns 64 next month. There’s also a “B list” of stuff that “would be fun to do but doesn’t amount to a hill of beans whether I get to do it or not.”

That list is topped, so to speak, by Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa.

“I’d like to climb Kilimanjaro before the snows melt,” Clinton said. “I’d like to run a marathon before I give out. There’s lots of things I’d like to do but it doesn’t really matter whether I do them.”

While Clinton is expected to campaign for Democratic candidates this fall, the ex-president also said he enjoys a new-found freedom to speak out.

“That’s the great thing about not being president anymore, I can say whatever I want,” Clinton said.

He added, however: “Of course, nobody cares what I say anymore, but I can say it!”

  17. JanH and Mop, In Chicago, they all seem to be crooks rethugs and democrats alike. We need to find a person in (if there is any) Chicago thats not a crook and not easily corruptible…well LOL! I guess any warm body will do on second thought…afterall its Chicago.

Well at first its pist me off for Biden to say that Pooplosi is the mother of healthcare….well the crap they past…she can take full credit for.

  18. Looks like Shirley Sherod may have resigned due to that video about racism among the NAACP…

  19. That Washington Examiner pic showed MO doubling down on the oil-slick fashion motif.

WTF is wrong with that idiot? Is she doing this deliberately or is she just too stupid too realize she’s flaunting the gulf disaster by her choice in clothing?

I mean, come on! What she’s wearing is like a mirror image of the horrible black on white ensemble she wore after speaking at the NAACP and telling AA’s they should “intensify” their efforts.

The dress she’s wearing in the WE pic is a metaphor for the oil spreading. Ok, maybe I’m getting carried away but please someone check the two pics and tell me what you think.

  20. “The Agriculture Department announced Monday, shortly after FoxNews.com published its initial report on the video, that Sherrod had resigned.”

  22. This is weird

Robert Gibbs, Obama’s White House spokesman, had an interesting reaction today when he was asked point-blank about Obama’s alleged use of a Connecticut social security number.

Apparently there is something doing the round about Obama using a connecticut SS number, this could get interesting, people are digging bigtime.

    Who is Obama?

  23. Connecticut social security number.
    *******
I didn’t realize that SS numbers were associated with particular state. Does the number reflect place of residence when the number was first issued?

  24. Yes, your social security number is designated when you apply for it by the state you applied in.

I did get some mail from someone I know that is not an Obama fan in reference to that SSN, but I just dismissed it.

It would be interesting if it turned into something.

  25. MOP, Someone asked about the Connecticutt social security number??? Holy Cow! Manna from heaven is coming!! This social security number is from someone who was born in the early 1900’s. It’s been on every CW post since 2007′.
Did he looked shocked or what…I wish there was a clip…I bet someone has a clip of it!
Admin even alluded that Obey doesn’t even know who the heck Obama is! LOL!
Im at work so someone fill me in on Greta tonight!

  26. What year supposedly did Obama apply for his SS number?

    Are SS numbers recycled?

    Connecticutt??

  27. Yes, your social security number is designated when you apply for it by the state you applied in
    ********
Never to old to learn..I have had my SS # for >50 years and never new that. Prior to 1973 the first three digits were the State, after 1973 the first three are assigned by the Zip code of the address of initial application for the card. So Bambi was living in Conn. in his late teens…the plot sickens…Any one know what his first three are???

  28. I have never heard of how the Dunhams were in Connecticutt from anyone, so this is real news…I wish I could see Gibb’s face…I wonder what he looked like??

  29. jbjd has some interesting tidbits about the caucas fraud in Texas and how it was done. She has really outdone herself…she is a lawyer and she is black!

    ==================

Agree with Jan in general, though there may be special locations where an independent is not possible.

  32. Biden calls Speaker Pelosi ‘most powerful person’ in politics

    ———–
Okay, call in the health care workers while there still are some, Biden is smokin’ on the crack pipe again.

What a kissass gaff that one is. Maybe Joe is trying out for Letterman’s job?

Nasty won’t have to worry if she is the most powerful woman in the US much longer. It must frost her cupcakes to see the world is in love with Hillary while they toss recycled tarballs at her.

  33. Go Hillary!

Hillary rebuffs Qureshi’s attempt to bring US into J&K equation

TIMES NEWS NETWORK & AGENCIES, Jul 20, 2010,

NEW DELHI: With US secretary of state Hillary Clinton by his side, Pakistani foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi engaged in another spot of ambush diplomacy — only to have Clinton publicly rebuff him.

At a joint press conference in Islamabad, Qureshi said “sustaining dialogue with India and finding a just solution of the Kashmir dispute” was part of the “convergent interest” of US and Pakistan. “This vision is driven by our convergent interest in the present day including fighting the twin menace of extremism and terrorism,” Qureshi said. It was his way of bringing US back into the J&K dispute.

But Clinton waited to answer a question when she set the record straight. The US had no desire to mediate between India and Pakistan to settle the Kashmir dispute and the issue would have to be resolved by the two countries through negotiations, she said. Kashmir was a complex issue and Pakistan and India needed to sit together and resolve it, Clinton said during an interaction with a panel of Pakistani television anchors. The US had no desire to mediate on Kashmir, she said in response to a question.

Asked about the US condemning crackdowns on protesters in Iran and describing the demonstrations in Jammu and Kashmir as an internal matter of India, Clinton said the situation in Pakistan and India was different from that in Iran. Pakistan and India were democracies and had free media while Iran was viewed differently by the US as it did not have an independent media, she said.

In response to another question on a civil nuclear deal for Pakistan, Clinton said her administration was considering the issue but any decision in this regard would take more time.

News agencies quoted diplomatic sources as saying that during the strategic dialogue, Clinton told the Pakistani leadership the US wanted continuation of India-Pakistan dialogue. “The secretary of state made it clear that the US is interested that the process between Pakistan and India should be sustained,” a diplomatic source familiar with the discussions told PTI.

The US has raised pressure on Pakistan to tackle the Haqqani network, a branch of Afghan Taliban which operates across the Af-Pak border and is widely suspected of having close ties to the country’s intelligence agency ISI.

Suspect arrested from route of Hillary Clinton’s cavalcade

RAWALPINDI: Law enforcement agencies have arrested a suspect moments before the motorcade of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was to cross a point at Gulzar-e-Quaid on Monday. Hillary was going to the airport to leave for Afghanistan and the law enforcement agencies were combing the VVIP route when they found Waheed Murad, 30, with an unlicensed pistol and bullets. The police whisked him away to an undisclosed place for interrogation. According to preliminary reports, Murad owns a restaurant at Dhoke Laliyal near the airport.

  35. Do the digits in my social security number represent anything in particular?

“Do the digits in my social security number represent anything in particular?.”
    07 September 2001. HowStuffWorks.com. 19 July 2010.

Social security numbers (SSNs) are not random numbers. They are assigned regionally and in batches.

The nine-digit SSN, which has been issued in more than 400 million different sequences, is divided into three parts:

    * Area numbers – The first three numbers originally represented the state in which a person first applied for a social security card. Numbers started in the northeast and moved westward. This meant that people on the east coast had the lowest numbers and those on the west coast had the highest. Since 1972, the Social Security Administration (SSA) has assigned numbers and issued cards based on the ZIP code in the mailing address provided on the original application form. Since the applicant’s mailing address doesn’t have to be the same as his residence, his area number doesn’t necessarily represent the state in which he resides. For many of us who received our SSNs as infants, the area number indicates the state we were born in. You can find out which area numbers go with each state here.

    * Group numbers – These two middle digits, which range from 01 through 99, are simply used to break all the SSNs with the same area number into smaller blocks to make administration easier. (The SSA says that, for administrative reasons, group numbers issued first consist of the odd numbers from 01 through 09, and then even numbers from 10 through 98, within each area number assigned to a state. After all the numbers in group 98 of a specific area have been issued, the even groups 02 through 08 are used, followed by odd groups 11 through 99.)

    * Serial numbers – Within each group designation, serial numbers — the last four digits in an SSN — run consecutively from 0001 through 9999.

According to the SSA, the numbers are not recycled. Upon an individual’s death, the number is removed from the active files and is not reused. Recycling numbers might become an issue someday, but not any time soon — statisticians say that the nine-digit SSN allows for approximately one billion possible combinations!

  36. JanH, Wow! they just keep coming to get her….they broke one up just before they left for Afganistan. I will be glad when she turns in her notice and runs again….there’s many killers in those foreign countries and Hillary represents everything those idiots don’t like in women….

  37. It is great to see how well both Hillary and Bill are doing personally and politically. Obsms msy hsve stolen the election, but he could never steal the passion fpr public service that those two (2) have and will continue to have for yrs to come.

  38. Confloyd, okay, Hillary was only on about 15 minutes of the show and will be on tomorrow too.
It was a very tough conversation between Greta and Hillary. Too smart women, no spin and tough questions. I love it when they both get down to brass tacks and Hillary was STRONG!

About Pakistan, where is Ben Laden, why haven’t we captured him, why do we have to spend more money to support Pakistan…

Hillary was awesome, she didn’t hedge any answers, knew every detail, was clear and Presidential.

I am sure there will be a video on Greta, maybe tomorrow.

    Whoya!

  39. Well I can’t get on Fox and watch it live from this computer…so I’m at the mercy of you guys…hopefully you can give me the highlights.

Hillary and Bill are truly statesman/woman. Country first with them.

Don’t count your chickens before they lay eggs, I think Greta loves Hillary.
Greta asked Hillary tough questions because she knew she would get real answers and not spin. It was a good thing…not attacking Hillary at all.

  43. The most popular woman in the world was never more PRESIDENTIAL than the interview with Greta a few minutes ago.Part 2 tomorrow nite.
Wake up America for she is a National Treasure
waiting to be sworn in as POTUS.It is time for BO to hit the road and not let the door hit him in the A– on his way out.
Hillary a picture of a strong smart and determined patriot that can save our great Democracy and spread peace around the troubled world that a rookie from Muskokie has created. His dog is smarter than he.

  44. shadowfax, I am sure Hillary can fire off the answers…glad she got the chance.

Hillary could answer that cracker Russert…now that’s was a cracker..LOL!

Which makes Nancy some kind of leper since no one in their right mind wants to get anywhere near the health care debacle. They need to hang a bell around her neck and let her go begging for alms after November.

  46. I watched a little of the video of Hillary and Greta…yes she was truly amazing…the volume was bad on the video and it was so hard to hear…I will get the second half tomorrow.

  47. Oh yeah she was awesome….and she can certainly turn a phrase with the best of them….”They are violent…vile….violators of human rights and human life!”

Excellent summation and simultaneous dressing down by the one and only Hillary!

  48. The culture of an organization is set by the man at the top–consciously or unconsciously. The man at the top of the Obama Administration is Obama. Obama is a racist. This is evident from his words and deeds. Therefore, the administration he heads takes on the same hue. And that is why these racists keep popping out of the woodwork. Here is the latest shoe to drop.

Chelsea was the perfect child…she should’ve been able to get married there…especially since they are calling this the wedding of the century and such.

    That freaking Obama!

  50. Our fiend Geraldo (It In The Vaul)t Rivera asks the head of the NAACP whether he condemns racism. Predictably, the NAACP leader offers an unequivocal yes. Unfortunately, his actions belie his words. And just as predictably Geraldo fails to follow up. The question he should have asked is if it is true that you condemn racism, then how do you explain the fact that you lobbied the Obama Justice Department to drop the Voting Rights case against New Black Panther Party in Philadelphia after a default judgment was taken against them? Sir, you cannot have it both ways.

  52. CIA Advised Against Terrorist’s Release
Monday, 19 Jul 2010 10:10 AM Article Font Size
    By: Ronald Kessler

The Obama administration sent a Guantanamo Bay prisoner back to his native Yemen against the recommendations of the CIA and the Defense Intelligence Agency, Sen. Kit Bond tells Newsmax.

After the failed Christmas Day bombing of a Northwest Airlines plane by a suspect trained in Yemen, President Obama froze transfers of prisoners to Yemen and said he would not release any detainee who would endanger the American people. However, in the case of 26-year-old Mohammed Odaini, the Pentagon made an exception after a U.S. district court ordered his release.

Instead, the administration should have appealed the court decision or sent Odaini to a country that would keep him incarcerated, says Bond, vice chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. The Missouri Republican has requested the intelligence that prompted both the CIA and the DIA to oppose his release.

So far, the only public information about the circumstances behind Odaini’s detention is that he was captured in an al-Qaida safe house in Pakistan when he was 17. He maintained he was studying the Quran and had no links to al-Qaida.

Bond says sending Odaini to Yemen, a hotbed of al-Qaida activity, invites more attacks and is symptomatic of the administration’s lax approach to national security. He cites an administration claim that a recidivism rate of 20 percent among Guantanamo Bay prisoners who are released is not “that bad.”

“You know, the American penal system, the recidivism rate is up to something about 50 percent or so, as far as return to crime,” counterterrorism chief John Brennan has said. “Twenty percent isn’t that bad.”

Bond counters: “These terrorists who are released kill our troops or plot attacks. “I think it’s outrageous that the Obama administration thinks that a 20 percent recidivism rate isn’t too bad. We’re not talking about a repeat offender who tries to steal cars. We’re talking about repeat offenders who launch terrorist attacks that kill lots of Americans.”

Commenting on the release of Odaini, the Pentagon said in a statement, “The suspension of Yemeni repatriations from Guantanamo remains in effect due to the security situation that exists there. However, the administration respects the decisions of U.S. federal courts.”

Instead of sending Odaini back to Yemen, “They could appeal the ruling and allow more time to look for another country that might take him,” Bond says.

Bond would not say how he knows that the CIA and the DIA advised against the transfer, but it’s understood that the directors of both agencies made the position known.

In a letter to national security adviser James L. Jones, Bond wrote, “Nothing in the court’s decision requires Odaini’s repatriation to Yemen, and both the Central Intelligence Agency and the Defense Intelligence Agency recommended against his transfer to Yemen.”

However, Bond says, “The Department of Justice is running intelligence, and I don’t think it does an adequate job of protecting us or getting information from terrorists we apprehend. They advise them of Miranda rights even when they are not American citizens. The release of Odaini is just another example of putting America at risk.”

  53. I just love the new hairdo…except for the deep circles under her eyes she is still gorgeous…she is not getting enought sleep while King Nero takes more vacations. I hope she gets a night or two worth’s of sleep before the wedding…all those pics for hours and hours in front of the camera. Geez!

I can’t quiet get what the last question Greta asks her is…I know she says yes…but can’t quiet hear it.

Well it doesn’t seem she is interested in suing the state of arizona…does it???

He did. The airplane has a big Obamaworld insignia on the tail. That is so it will not be confused with Pelosi’s flying vodka bar. The policy making chef is the pilot of dog’s plane and dog is the co-pilot and navigator. The flight tower is getting excellent advice about eating healthy from the pilot but they have yet to clear the airplane for take-off. The Pelosi plane has been grounded due to the sudden and unanticipated incursion of alcohol.

  56. Thank Lorac. I defy anyone to name me a public official who demonstrates a level of competence equal to that of Hillary Clinton. They will not be able to do it.

  57. Wbboei, LOL! Pelosi looks like she’s been hitting the “Grey Goose” a little regularly! Although Mrs. Smith seems to think their smoking something up on capital hill….I believe that too!

  58. Connie–Barack has big plans for Dog, but Dog does not know it. All Dog is thinking about now is New York to Paris just like Lindberg. Champaign, caviar and kibbels and bits. All he needs is flight clearance. All Barack is thinking about is how useful Dog will be to him in the 2012 election scaring off opposing voters. Everyone will be looking for NBBP members wielding night sticks, ACORN thugs with their Alinsky methods, and SEIU criminals waiting to viciously assault those who do not fall in line behind Obama. One wrong move by these people and the jail house doors slam. But who would suspect an innocent looking dog who can bark and bite with the best of them.

  59. Wbboei, LOL! Pelosi looks like she’s been hitting the “Grey Goose” a little regularly!
    ————————————-
She has been wrestling with John Barley corn and it is taking a terrible toll on her. Grey goose when it is taxpayers money. Ripple or Night Train when it is her own. Any port in a storm as they say. As I have mentioned before my friend the arbitrator knew her through Jimmy Herman who became President of the International Longshoreman and Warehouseman’s Union who treated he like his daughter. The three of them went to lunch in San Francisco perhaps six times. He was underwhelmed by her, By no stretch of the imagination would he agree with Biden’s stupid statement. The bar may be low but not that low.

  60. Hillary on Greta tonight-
    _____________________

Hillary has to refrain from being so publically candid about killing the terrorists even though she is right to continue the fight finding them and eliminating them from the landscape. This interview is ill timed for her future and the contents of it is like dangling a carrot in front of the nutcase terrorists who would like seeing her dead. Hillary’s enemies (in the US and you know who they are… the failure in chief and co) will replay this youtube over and over again throughout the city, the overtly loud voice of Hillary confidently, matter of factly, echoing the call for the continuing search and killing of their high profile leaders. They have given Hillary a platform to brag about the work the US is doing to stop terrorism…. She has to stop talking about it now!

This is bad… very bad… She had a scare yesterday. An assassin laying in wait to kill her along her auto route out of the city. The lone assassin’s capture is a sign they are working on it… Please triple her security and keep her safe… for all our sakes…

  61. Finally the role of MSM like Politico, Huffington post and NYT in burying BO’s racism are coming to light via Laura Ingrahm.

She cite reports that indicate deliberate efforts to cover-up Squats jermiah Wright connections and other info which showed Squat’s anti-white black liberation viewpoint.

    Better late than never.

Now, with the video of Sherrod all over youtube, the black panther party “we should kill they babies” the ugly truth about this black on white racism is finally getting out to all Americans.

This comes as no news to me as I worked for two decades in schools with mostly black and Hispanic kids and the non-white staff were VICIOUS against their white colleagues, including me.

Squat, in trying to stir up his base for 2010 with racism charges is, instead, throwing the AA’s under the bus. No one who is not AA is ever going to forget how anti-white this POTUS is.

  64. confloyd at 12:24 am [paraphrase] Chelsea should have been married in the WH

I’ve been thinking about that and about the guest list. The really great thing about all of this is that all those accusations about pimping out Chelsea are going to fly by the wayside with sane people. In the meantime, this is top story at foxnews right now (other than the live coverage of lindaylohan, of course):

BMWs’ Help Afghans Go AWOL From Texas Air Base
A loose network of Mexican-American women, some of whom may be illegal immigrants, have been responsible for helping numerous Afghan military deserters go AWOL from an Air Force Base in Texas, FoxNews.com has learned. Many of the Afghans, with the women’s assistance, have made their way to Canada; the whereabouts of others remain unknown. Some of the men have been schooled by the women in how to move around the U.S. without any documentation. The Afghan deserters refer to the women as “BMWs” — Big Mexican Women — and they often are the first step in the Afghans’ journey from Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, to Canada, a diplomatic official told FoxNews.com. SNIP
The Department of Defense deferred all inquiries to the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which officials from numerous U.S. agencies have called the lead agency responsible for the AWOL Afghans and issues involving illegal immigrants who may have assisted them. FBI spokeswoman Denise Ballew told FoxNews.com two weeks ago, “We have an interest in locating these individuals and we’ll refer other questions to ICE.” After nearly two weeks of communication with an ICE spokesman who assured FoxNews.com that he was working on the requests for additional information and for comment, that spokesman suddenly said he would no longer be able to assist and deferred all questions and requests for comment to the Department of Defense. The Department of Defense, again, recommended contacting ICE. U.S. Customs and Border Protection did not respond to requests for comment. Interpol told FoxNews.com to “contact the authorities in the countries where you believe there may be an investigation ongoing.”

  66. Clinton speaks out for Afghan women in Kabul conference

    (AFP) – 3 hours ago

KABUL — US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton used part of her address to a key conference in Kabul on Tuesday to defend Afghan women concerned that peace efforts with the Taliban could jeopardise their rights.

“I speak from experience when I say that the work of Afghan women and civil society groups will be essential to this country?s success,” she told the gathering of 70 representatives from international organisations and nations.

“If these groups are fully empowered to help build a just and lasting peace, they will help do so. If they are silenced and pushed to the margins of Afghan society, the prospects for peace and justice will be subverted.”

Clinton, the most high profile woman politician in the West, congratulated Afghan President Hamid Karzai for saying he would not sacrifice the rights of women, ethnic minorities or civil society groups in the quest for peace.

Before the conference, Clinton raised the same issues with a group of 12 hand-picked Afghan women aid workers at the US embassy.

She encouraged them to share their concerns about a process of reintegration of Taliban footsoldiers, which the United States is supporting on condition that the insurgents renounce violence and take part in the democratic process.

Karzai last month also won the endorsement of Afghan leaders to start peace talks with insurgent leaders and called on the international community to back his efforts — despite at least initial scepticism from the United States.

“An Afghanistan that is stable, peaceful and secure is in everyone’s interest, particularly women and children,” said Clinton. “But it cannot come at the cost of women,” she warned.

Afghan lawmaker Fawzia Koofi told Clinton: “We want peace with justice, bringing the Taliban on board and compromise with women’s rights would take this country back hundreds of years.”

Clinton’s interest in gender equality and defending women’s rights has been a policy favourite since her tenure as American first lady from 1993 to 2001.

Washington is to commit 37 million dollars in the next four years to increase the number of women in health professions, particularly midwifery.

Aid group Save the Children has described Afghanistan as the worst country in the world in which to be a mother.

According to statistics provided by US officials, the average life expectancy for women in Afghanistan is 44 years old and one women in eight die during childbirth — one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world.

  67. Proof MSM covered up for squat.

In the first of a series on Journolist, Daily Caller reporter Jonathan Strong lays out a strategy plotted by Journolist members to kill the Jeremiah Wright story during the 2008 primaries — and to smear Barack Obama’s critics as racists:

  68. More from the article.

According to records obtained by The Daily Caller, at several points during the 2008 presidential campaign a group of liberal journalists took radical steps to protect their favored candidate. Employees of news organizations including Time, Politico, the Huffington Post, the Baltimore Sun, the Guardian, Salon and the New Republic participated in outpourings of anger over how Obama had been treated in the media, and in some cases plotted to fix the damage.
In one instance, Spencer Ackerman of the Washington Independent urged his colleagues to deflect attention from Obama’s relationship with Wright by changing the subject. Pick one of Obama’s conservative critics, Ackerman wrote, “Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists.”
    Gee, doesn’t that sound familiar?
One of their efforts was completely public. Journolist members collaborated on an open letter criticizing ABC’s Charlie Gibson for asking questions about Wright during ABC’s presidential debate between Obama and Hillary Clinton. The letter eventually appeared in the New York Times, and while it could be argued that a campaign by professional journalists to tell ABC not to ask tough questions about a candidate’s links to radicals is a rather strange idea, it isn’t any different than any other collaboration on an open letter. The Journolist listserv probably made the process a little more efficient, but the end result was public and obviously the result of a collaboration.
Ackerman’s attempt to rally his colleagues into another strategy entirely — the racist attack — was deliberately political:
And I think this threads the needle. If the right forces us all to either defend Wright or tear him down, no matter what we choose, we lose the game they’ve put upon us. Instead, take one of them — Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists. Ask: why do they have such a deep-seated problem with a black politician who unites the country? What lurks behind those problems? This makes *them* sputter with rage, which in turn leads to overreaction and self-destruction.
Let’s put this in its proper perspective. Ackerman wasn’t talking about a strategy to expose real racists, in the media or anywhere else. The Washington Independent reporter wanted to conduct a campaign against any figure on the Right, including journalists like Fred Barnes, to smear him as a racist for the political purposes of electing a Democrat to the White House. Notice that Ackerman doesn’t even bother to ask people to look for actual evidence of racism, but just suggests to pick a conservative name out of a hat. Tellingly, the pushback from members of Journolist had less to do with the outrageous idea of smearing an innocent person of racism to frighten people away from the story than with whether it would work. Mark Schmitt, now at American Prospect, warned that it “wouldn’t further the argument” for Obama, and Kevin Drum objected because playing racial politics would “probably hurt the Obama brand pretty strongly.”
It certainly puts efforts by the Left to paint the Tea Party as racist in an entirely new light. It also calls into question the ethics and judgment of anyone who participated in that Ackerman thread. Finally, this first entry in the Journolist exposés — Tucker Carlson promises more to come — shows that far from being a benign place to have chats among colleagues, Journolist also served as a place for journalists to plot against their political opponents and strategize to twist the news and propose smear campaigns

  69. FURTHER EVIDENCE THAT OBAMA IS “LOSING HIS BASE”…HOPIUM GUZZLERS SEEK DETOX.

I work in NYC, looking out where the World Trade Center towers once stood, and there are always reminders of 9/11.

Yesterday, a small group of peace protestors stood holding signs, and I took one of their flyers. Made by the “Ground Zero Peace Vigil; Lower Manhattan Peace Coalition”, the flyer has a spoof on the “Yes We Can” hopium motto.

    Here’s what’s on the flyer:

    ####@
    YES, WE CHANGED ADMINISTRATIONS

(picture of Bush on left, picture of Obama on right)

    NOW, LET’S CHANGE THE POLICY!!
US OUT OF IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN
    NO WAR ON IRAN

On March 20, 2003, the Bush administration began bombing Baghdad and started its war against Iraq. On that very same day a Peace Vigil was started on this site to protest a policy based on lies and deceit. For the next 6 years this vigil remained constant and steadfast in its determiniation to demonstrate publicly its opposition to the war and to use the events that took place on this spot on Sep. 11, 2001 as a pretext for US aggression abroad.

With the inauguration of Pres. Barack Obama, it was decided to suspend the vigil to give the new administration a chance to change direction, to bring the troops home, and begin the demilitarization of US foreign policy.

Sadly, we must recognize that the Obama administration shows little evidence of any serious change. Reducing the number of troops in Iraq only to increase troop levels in Afghanistan is not change we can believe in after 6 years nor support. It’s time to say so publicly. Please join us and put an end to the violence that is done in our name.

  70. Tape blows hole into (Blago’s older brother), Robert Blagojevich’s credibility.

Plot to get Obama to kill feds’ investigation wrecks testimony
    Comments

    July 20, 2010

Everything had gone so well on the witness stand Monday for Robert Blagojevich, the former governor’s brother and co-defendant.

Finally, after all these months, he’d gotten the chance to tell his story and to tell it his way, coming across as every bit the solid former military officer and successful businessman that his lawyer Michael Ettinger had portrayed in opening statements.

More than that, he’d been the anti-Blago — a sober sensible adult with a voice and demeanor at odds with his flamboyant politico sibling, topped off with a grown-up’s haircut that doesn’t try to hide the gray.

His testimony, backed up with new wiretaps that seemed to cut in his favor, had played out so positively that even a prosecution-sympathetic observer such as myself was left second-guessing whether he really deserved to be on trial with little brother.

And then it all blew up in Robert Blagojevich’s face in just the first 15 minutes of cross-examination by federal prosecutor Chris Niewoehner as the former chairman of Friends of Blagojevich was left trying to explain a previously unheard conversation in which he counseled brother Rod to conduct “horse trading” with then President-elect Barack Obama to kill the federal criminal investigation of his administration.

The Nov. 5, 2008, discussion came one day after the presidential election at a time the Blagojeviches already knew Obama wanted Valerie Jarrett as his replacement but a month before the governor’s arrest when the full extent of the investigation would become known.

“If you can get Obama to get [U.S. Attorney Patrick] Fitzgerald to close the investigation on you, it completely provides you with total clarity,” Robert Blagojevich was quoted as telling Rod in a transcript read by Niewoehner, suggesting this as a more realistic gambit than angling for a Cabinet appointment.

On the witness stand, Robert argued his suggestion had nothing to do with Jarrett’s appointment, but didn’t offer a more convincing explanation. He said he meant it “in the context of what politicians do.”

Surprisingly, even Rod saw the idea as over the top, dismissing it out of hand with the retort: “That’s impossible.”

Wow, thanks so much for posting that article about how Journolist was used by the Media to coordinate, shield, and partisan advocate for Obama!!

I was thrilled when Ezra Klein was forced into shutting down Journolist last month — one of the great tragedies of the 2008 election is that so many in the Media put their fate in the hands of people like 23 year old Ezra Klein, as if a 23 year old has any serious idea of what it takes to run a country — but to hear now that Yes, Journolist was indeed the apparatus by which the media created the “Obama, Obama” cacophony, and that so many of the so called journalists colluded, violating the principle rule of their trade, is delicious icing on the cake.

I hope more records are revealed. I’m sure we all remember that so many of the attacks against Hillary had such similarity to them….might we finally see now where the originals came from, hmmm??? LOL

How sad for the media — all they are capable of is “Criticism you can Xerox.”

  72. Actually Brian, in golf lingo, it is a triple bogey. Not good when you are leading a tournament.
    ————————————————–

    Brian Darling at Red State

President Obama’s popularity is going down fast. According to Gallup, the President is especially unpopular in Wyoming (29%), Utah (34%), West Virginia (34%), Idaho (34%), Oklahoma (37%), Alaska (38%), Montana (38%), Arkansas (40%), Kentucky (40%), Tennessee (41%), New Hampshire (41%), Alabama (41%), and Missouri (41%). If you are running for House or Senate in any of these states, it may be time to start running away from President Obama’s unpopular ideas. More from Gallup:

During the first half of 2010, residents of Hawaii and the District of Columbia were most likely to approve of the job Barack Obama is doing as president. His lowest approval ratings came from Wyoming residents. All told, there is a 56 percentage-point gap between Obama’s highest and lowest state ratings. (snip)

The big issue for conservatives to watch today is the plummeting poll numbers nationwide for President Obama and his policies. In golf lingo, if the Gallup poll was a bogey, a poll released yesterday by Politico was a lost ball for the President. The Politico poll indicates that President Obama would lose his job to “The Republican Nominee” if an election were held today. Not a good place to be one year and a half into your presidency and a terrible place to be if you are promoting one of the President’s many unpopular ideas. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs should be yelling “FORE!” to Congressional Democrats, because the President has hitting some terrible tee shots for his party. Clearly, I watched too much golf this weekend.

On the issue of “how satisfied have you been with President Obama’s response to the oil spill,” 34% were satisfied and 61% were dissatisfied according to the Politico poll. The poll further indicated that the American people are deeply concerned about the economy (48%) to the exclusion of all other issues. No other issue even came close. As the economy stagnates, these poll numbers indicate that the President’s approval rating will also stagnate and go down.

One fascinating question pitted President Obama against an unnamed Republican nominee for President. In a generic ballot, the President received 37% versus 42% for “The Republican Candidate.” That is alarming. The silver lining that the Obama Administration will spin from this poll is that when Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Mike Huckabee, and Haley Barbour were named in the poll as the Republican nominee, Obama won. The problem with the latter poll numbers is that Obama did not get anywhere near 50% in the head to head battles. President Obama is in the political rough right now and he is going to have a hard time turning the economy around in a few months before the Fall elections, and for that matter, before the next Presidential election.

These poll numbers will impact the agenda for Congress. As the President becomes more unpopular or retains low poll numbers, there is no incentive for his allies in Congress to take one for the team. The President’s agenda from Global Warming to his foreign policy initiatives will be under high scrutiny and Congressional Democrats will be unwilling to bring up controversial issues. At some point, the Democrat masses on Capitol Hill will tell the White House enough is enough and order the President to focus 100% of his efforts in talking about his plan to turn around the economy. The Stimulus has proven to be an unmitigated Keynesian failure. The 2001 and 2003 tax cuts are about to expire and if the President does not push for a continuation of these tax cuts, the economy may go into further malaise. President Obama’s inaction on these expiring tax cuts is, in effect, the Obama Tax Increases of 2011. Who would want to be running on the idea of tax increases this Fall?

As candidates see more and more poll numbers indicating the American people’s disappointment with the President, expect even liberal Democrats running for office to sprint away from public events with President Obama. We have already witnessed some candidates missing events with the President and you should expect more of that in the coming months. The bottom line is that President Obama’s policies are politically toxic for Democrats right now and if he does not right the ship quickly, he will pay a high political price.

Falling Out of Love With Obama

The left is finding out that Obama is not the progressive they fell in love with, but they should remember that progressive politicians have all the cards stacked against them.

    Paul Waldman | July 20, 2010 | web only

Every presidency has its ups and downs. But this is one seriously rough period not only for the current inhabitant of the Oval Office but for the people who put him there. The economy continues to struggle along, with millions unemployed. There seems no way out of the mire of Afghanistan. The Gulf of Mexico is befouled and will be for years to come. Republican senators — with the cooperation of a couple of Democrats who know no pleasure greater than screwing up their party’s agenda — have taken advantage of the chamber’s legislative rules to make action all but impossible. And it looks like they will take back the House. Conservative interest groups like the National Rifle Association seem more powerful than ever; the lords of finance who nearly destroyed the global economy are raking in record profits after being saved by the taxpayers; and the Supreme Court’s activist conservatives are on a tear, doing all they can to smooth the way for greater corporate influence. It is not a happy time.

It wasn’t supposed to be this way. Remember when Barack Obama’s presidency was going to wash over the capital like a cleansing tide, renewing both the government’s ability to accomplish great things and restoring the people’s faith in that ability? It seems so much longer than a year and a half ago.

All over the country, progressives are gripped by gloom. It’s partly directed at Obama (if only he had done this or that, everything would be different) and partly about the fact that the GOP seems to grow dumber and more ideologically radical by the day. But the broader frustration is with a system whose dysfunction and corruption seem worse than ever — one that seems like it’s designed to stop progressive change.

You can see it in influential voices on the left. The blogger Digby described her “slow growing sense of despair over the fact it looks more and more as if the party of Michelle Bachman and Darrell Issa are going to have subpoena power starting next January. … That outcome is probably what the Democrats deserve. Maybe it’s even what all adult Americans deserve.” Kevin Drum of Mother Jones wrote: “Here’s the good news: this record of progressive accomplishment officially makes Obama the most successful domestic Democratic president of the last 40 years. And here’s the bad news: this shoddy collection of centrist, watered down, corporatist sellout legislation was all it took to make Obama the most successful domestic Democratic president of the last 40 years. Take your pick.” Eric Alterman began a much-discussed 17,000-word essay on the state of American democracy by writing, “Few progressives would take issue with the argument that, significant accomplishments notwithstanding, the Obama presidency has been a big disappointment.”

Even if you see that cup as half full, it’s emptier than we believed it would be. Part of the problem is that progressives thought that they had finally found the president they’d love the way conservatives love Ronald Reagan. After a string of unsuccessful candidates and compromised presidencies, Obama seemed to have it all — the intelligence, the oratorical skills (no small thing after the previous two nominees), the political savvy, the nerve not to fear Republicans. Progressives liked that the rest of the world was smitten with him, a relief after eight years of a president who seemed to embody everything anti-Americans want people to believe about Americans. And yes, voting for him made them feel good about themselves and about “how far our country had come.” It’s no wonder that when Obama was battling with Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination in 2008, the prevailing opinion was that he was much more of a “real” progressive than she was, despite thin evidence to support the assertion.

Progressives have concluded that Obama is not exactly the man they fell in love with. We need not go into the entire list of reasons why. There have been some necessary compromises (perhaps inevitable but still painful), some unnecessary compromises, some genuine reversals, and a growing sense that the White House doesn’t have much affection for the Democratic Party’s base of liberal supporters. Republicans have always been better at the care and feeding of the base; when they are in charge, they work hard to convince the foot soldiers of the right that they’re with them. These days, certain White House staff barely bother to conceal their contempt for the left — and they find reporters happy to pile on the stupid hippies and their naive ideas about how serious people govern.

Was this disillusionment inevitable? “Inevitable” might be a strong word, but the answer is: pretty much, yes. That isn’t an excuse for Obama’s failures. Just as to be fair we have to give him credit for what he has achieved — especially health-care reform, which seemed impossible for so long — we have to hold him responsible for what he’s done wrong, from the embrace of so much of the Bush administration’s policies on civil liberties to his alarmingly tepid commitment to reproductive rights. But as Alterman writes, “The system is rigged, and it’s rigged against us.” The constituencies with the most money are always going to have louder voices than those who need the most help. The legislative system, particularly the Senate, gives the recalcitrant minority the ability to stop almost anything from happening if they so choose. Using government to address complex problems and improve people’s lives will always be harder than stopping government from doing the same; the forces of the status quo enjoy copious institutional advantages over those who seek change. The net result is that an agenda that pleases conservatives is easier to achieve than an agenda that pleases progressives. A Republican president can pass some tax cuts (never a hard sell), increase defense spending (ditto), stop bothering to enforce regulations on things like environmental protection and workplace safety, and he’ll win the love of his supporters. A Democratic president with any ambition, on the other hand, will find his path strewn with one obstacle after another.

We always understood that, but we shoved the understanding to the back of our minds. And now, the unfortunate result of Obama’s missteps, trials, and victories too ambiguous for the taste of many could be that progressives end up where they were with Bill Clinton in 1998: only willing to defend the president by pointing to the extremism of the opposition. This tactic is particularly tempting because the GOP has grown so twisted, from the cynicism of its leaders to the ugly, hateful face of so much of its rank and file. And we certainly can have no more illusions about them; a party whose base considers it a good idea that Sarah Palin one day become the most powerful human being on planet Earth is not a group of people from whom one should expect much responsible behavior.

For progressives, the glass of the Obama presidency looks half empty (or maybe three-quarters empty). Just when they thought they’d finally found a president they could love with a full heart, they wind up as conflicted as they’d felt about every other Democratic politician. Though there’s a case to be made for looking on the bright side, it’s hard to see much cheeriness in progressives’ future. Barack Obama’s future victories will be greeted on the left with relief, but we won’t again see the joy that surged through the land in November 2008.

  76. fifth dimension,

What’s going to be the sweetest revenge ever is seeing the Clinton Karma at work when Pooplosie and Harry are out of a job on November 5.

I can not WAIT for that!
    —————————-
But first we have got to get there. Reid has unleashed a barrage of slander against his opponent. He has a wall of money behind him. He was in Canada recently soliciting donations from the Canadian Trial Lawyers Association. They now have manufactured a poll through Mason Dixon with a 10% MOE showing Reid ahead by 7 points as I recall. Angle has her own videos which stress that under Reid Nevada has 14% unemployment. Gingrich was asked last night about all this and he conceded that they are attacking because they cannot defend their record and negative campaigning can be effective. However, he also said that the message for November is which would you rather have job creating policies or job killing policies. If you want to kill jobs then by all means vote for Reid and his fellow dims–they will get that job done for you and their Wall Street masters very nicely thank you. But most people, meaning a majority of the population, see through their bullshit and demagoguery according to other polls. Informed people have pointed out that Mason Dixon has been far off the mark before to the tune of double digits, which calls to mind the old joke about actuaries–what is 2=2? Whatever you want it to be. Certainly that is true of Zogby, where blood it thicker than water.

  77. I wonder how many people who voted for Obama now see the error of their ways, and can recognize the truth of these these lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein: falling in love with Barack is falling for make believe, falling in love with Barack is playing the fool, caring too much is just a juvenile fancy, trusting him is just for children in school, etc.

  78. S: I think that article by Walderman is a snare and a delusion. What he argues in effect is it is not Obama himself it is the system. If Obama had a free hand in the matter he would do what is right, so we (the progressives) were not wrong. There is a level of nuance and evasion in this explanation which leave me very troubled. The problem with Obama is not the system. The problem with Obama is Obama. Anyone who doubts that proposition need only study his history in Chicago. Again, the problem with Obama is Obama, period. I am truly sorry if this puts these naive progressives in a moral quandry, I really am. But if they settle for this explanation, and say as he does that they are merely disappointed, and will still root for him but not with the same enthusiasm obscures the essential truth which is that they were misled by a man who is a puppet of the very interests they rail about, namely big business. They cannot be any good to themselves or to any one else until they come to terms with this glaring fact. Fundamentally, they were betrayed. You expect that from your adversary, but not from someone who purports to be your friend.

  79. These people need to get off the good ship lollypop. The inherent conflict between his policies and their professed values is irreconcilable.

S: I think that article by Walderman is a snare and a delusion
    ************************************************************

I hear you Wbboei and I agree…however this is the closest any of them will get to pinning anything directly on O…any criticism from the left always blames the people around O…his treasury…his advisors, etc…they always make excuses for O and try to isolate him…even if he is the boss of all these people…makes no sense…and makes smart people sound stupid…and gulliable…

so just the fact that these criticisms come out (Eric Alterman in the Nation…a long one) indicates that yes, they are still in denial…so they rationalize because they know something has gone very wrong…”it was not supposed to be this way with O – no big pharma deals, expanding wars, all his victories a sham…less and less jobs each day, etc, etc, etc’

truthfully, they know he is a fraud but it just hurts too much…they invested so much and he faked them out…all that info on ‘the daily caller’ today regarding how they plotted to protect him and label ANYONE a racist, etc, etc, etc…they put their heart and soul into fool’s gold…

  81. just thinking about the unemployment issue…this is also another sham…rather than create jobs and strengthen the middle class, people are going to get years of unemployment which at most is $300 week…where in the world are we going?

so now millions of people are to be satiated by unemployment and a middle class existing on no more than $300 and in many states less … this is killing incentive, confidence and doing nothing for job creation…96 to 126 weeks on unemployment – what? that is a frightening thought…

we would be better off taking that unemployment money and putting it into a paid job training program or give it to business with the mandate that someone must be hired with that money…

…to me we are making the middle class more submissive

and why isn’t the stimulus money being used for the unemployment? and frankly, there are MILLIONS more out of work that do not even qualify for the unemployment, so what happens to them?

…we no longer are working on solutions…

  82. Big Media Is Obama’s Ministry of Propaganda

    1. Definition: propaganda is a specific type of message presentation, aimed at serving an agenda. Even if the message conveys true information, it may be partisan and fail to paint a complete picture. The book Propaganda And Persuasion defines propaganda as “the deliberate, systematic attempt to shape perceptions, manipulate cognitions, and direct behavior to achieve a response that furthers the desired intent of the propagandist. (snip). What sets propaganda apart from other forms of advocacy is the willingness of the propagandist to change people’s understanding through deception and confusion, rather than persuasion and understanding.”

    2. Dual Objective: the goal of propaganda is to recruit non-believers to a particular agenda through deceptive practices and to keep true believers in line by answering the doubts that arise when that agenda and reality clash.

    3. Big Media: uses a combination of propaganda and censorship to mislead the American People into believing that Obama is on their side, whereas the opposite is true. Throughout his career, he has always been on the side of big business and never once on the side of the American People. When he appears to be on the side of the American People it is always a ruse. All you need to do to know the truth is follow the money. And you can know him by the company he keeps. The rest is nothing but marketing hype, smoke and mirrors.
