Absolute Failure: Lance Orton Versus Faisal Shahzad And Big Media

We might be in love. It’s election day in several states and we should write about that, but we might be in love. Who is the object of our affection (sigh)? The object of our affection is an ill, potentially homeless, disabled leg, old, African-American, Vietnam Veteran who is a street vendor of dubious products (sigh).

If we weren’t so potentially in love we would today ask unpleasant questions such as:

Why once again, with the arrest of Faisal Shahzad as the attempted Times Square bomber, there has been an absolute failure of Barack Obama’s “Homeland Security” keystone kops? The “crotch” bomber and now this attempted bombing in Times Square failed due to defective plans not because of any prevention measures by authorities. For all the “security” humiliations Americans are subjected to we are about as secure under Barack Obama as sleeves on a dress when Michelle Obama is angry. A fireball explosion and a plane blowing up what remains of Detroit have only been prevented by sheer luck, not our keystone kop fake security which increasingly turns Americans into gulled security cows waiting for slaughter.

Absolute failure on the part of those who allowed Faisal Shahzad to jump through the immigration hurdles and become a naturalized American citizen about a year ago. Decent people have difficulties and intrusive humiliations thrust upon them to legally immigrate to this country but a murderous demon is awarded much coveted citizenship status. But a self-confessed, trained in Pakistan on bomb making terrorist, is allowed to become an American citizen.

Absolute failure to apologize. When will those (like Michael Bloomberg and the usual DailyKooks and Nutroots) that smeared the Tea Party activists (Obama health scam opponents were smeared too) ever apologize? These “get whitey, absolve Islamic terrorists” squads immediately attacked the idea of yet another Islamic terror attempt and preferred to immediately dismiss any connection to organized terrorism – for their own foolish notion that somehow it’s those middle class Tea Party Americans who are to blame for everything bad. The buck stops with Barack Obama who continues to spout his “teabag” homophobia and misogyny verbiage.

But we won’t explore those questions of Absolute Failure by Barack Obama on Oil Slicks and the economy (on a day the markets plunged over European economic fears), the day’s elections (we might update on this topic however), or the Faisal Shahzad bomber story.

We won’t even focus on the eight arrests in Pakistan in connection with the attempted bombing; won’t discuss the new polls showing over 60% of Americans (Islamic terrorists excluded) support the new Arizona illegal immigration law; won’t discuss the, typical for CNN, attempt to excuse the Islamic terrorist as a victim of American foreclosure “heartaches”; nor will we discuss the bigotry and bias of those who decry bigotry and bias – such as Contessa Brewer:

“BREWER: I mean the thing is is that and I get frustrated and there was part of me that was hoping this was not going to be anybody with ties to any kind of Islamic country because there are a lot of people who want to use this terrorist intent to justify writing off people who believe in a certain way or come from certain countries or whose skin color is a certain way. I mean they use it as justification for really outdated bigotry.

And so there was part of me was really hoping this would not be the case that here would be somebody who is not the defined. I mean he’s accused he’s arrested you know I don’t want to convict him before it’s time to do so. He’s the guy authorities say is involved. But that being said I mean we know even in recent history you have the Hutaree militia from Michigan who have plans to let’s face it create terror.

That’s what they were planning to do and they were doing so from far different backgrounds then what this guy is coming from. So, the threat is not just coming from people who decide that America is the place to be and you know come here and want to become citizens. Obviously this guy did.”

Keep blaming Tea Party activists you bigot Contessa Brewer. Contessa Brewer is a bigot shouting “bigot” at those who disagree with her.

* * * * * *

But we are not going to discuss any of that, we are potentially in love.

The name of our burning love is Lance Orton. Yes, Lance Orton. Forget Zac or Lindsey, or Cate, or Brad, or Jake, or Bieber, or the Jonas’, or Angelina, or Demi, – forget them all. We’re in love with Lance Orton. There, we said it.

Who is Lance Orton? “Who is Lance Orton” you ask?

Well some are trying to smear Lance Orton as “grumpy”. Instead of taking him seriously, instead of gratitude and listening to what he says, insults are dished. Who is Lance Orton – Lance Orton is the hero of Tiimes Square who Big Media will both smear and ignore.

Here is the snarky New York Times account about hero Lance Orton:

“About 12 hours had passed since a T-shirt vendor in Times Square had alerted police to a suspicious S.U.V. that was packed with a bomb. But by 7 a.m. Sunday, with the S.U.V. towed away and the streets safe and reopened, the vendor was tired, cranky and reluctant to say much about his feat.

“I’m fed up,” said the vendor, who declined to give his name as he headed toward a taxicab in Times Square around 7 a.m. “We’ve been up since 6 a.m. of yesterday morning.”

The vendor, who was swarmed by television cameras, wore a name tag around his neck that identified him as Lance Orton. A law enforcement official confirmed that his first name was Lance.”

Lance Orton, who did more than the entire vaunted “security” apparatus of the United States under the boot of Barack Obama is described as “cranky” and not willing to discuss his life saving actions. Why? Why is Lance Orton, a life saving hero treated as a crank by Big Media? Let’s continue with the Times“coverage”:

“The vendor had seen smoke billowing from the rear of the S.U.V., which was parked awkwardly near the curb and was running, shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Within moments, the vendor alerted a mounted police officer; the officer smelled gunpowder near the car and an evacuation of Times Square was ordered.

Around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, the vendor and several others he worked with collected the T-shirts and tables they had abandoned on 45th Street and Broadway when Times Square was first evacuated. After collecting his belongings, the vendor walked down 45th Street in search of a taxicab to take him home.

I’m not going to say nothing, I’m not going to say nothing,” he said when first approached by a gaggle of reporters.

As he walked down the street, employees from Junior’s restaurant stood outside applauding him. He briefly entered the restaurant before heading toward 44th Street.

He walked with a limp, had a cane, wore a white fedora and had a hoop earring in his right ear.”

Oh, let’s face it, we love the lug. But why so much disdain by Big Media (the New York Times coverage was typical) towards a true hero? Well for one thing the Big Media bigots know our love object is a poor black man who smells of Tea, and he is a Vietnam Veteran. But there is something deeper than the class bigotry displayed towards our unemployed heart throb:

“When asked if he was proud of his actions, he said: “Of course, man. I’m a veteran. What do you think?”

The vendor said that he had served during the Vietnam War and had been selling wares on the street for about 20 years.

“I don’t have too much of a choice, nobody’s giving me a job,” he said.

He said that he was reluctant to speak with members of the media because they had twisted his words when they interviewed him in recent years.

He got into the back seat of the taxi, took off his hat and used it to fan his face.

Before he left, he was asked what he had to say to New Yorkers.

“See something, say something,” he said.”

The marvelous “sound bite” which displays a canny intelligence has been played repeatedly by Big Media broadcast outlets. But what of that intriguing truth Lance Orton spoke? We have not heard much of that truth from Big Media bigots.

Lance Orton stated that he did not want to speak with Big Media because in previous articles he had been quoted as saying the opposite of what he actually had said. So instead of introspection, Big Media belittles the great hero who is no fool.

Lance Orton knows what we know, from first hand experience – Big Media cannot be trusted. For stating that truth, Lance Orton, and we, are belittled and mocked. But the truth is we are right, Lance Orton is right. Big Media is wrong.

Lance Orton was not the only hero of Times Square. Another black man, a Vietnam Veteran, was on the job. We love him, and respect him, too.

Two T-shirt vendors, Lance Orton and Duane Jackson, are being credited with alerting police to the smoking vehicle parked with its engine running on 45th street in the heart of Times Square.

“I turned around and saw the car sitting on the corner and the keys were in it and car was running,” Jackson told the BBC. “When the mounted police came by, we directed them to the car and told them we didn’t know whose it is and shortly after that the smoke started coming out of the car.”

Moved by the smoke and the smell of gun powder, mounted police and patrolling officers began evacuating the city’s busy theater district as police and bomb squad members arrived.[snip]

Napolitano
told ABC News’ Jake Tapper that there is no evidence that the crude bomb attempt was part of a larger plot, saying it does not appear to be “anything other than a one-off” attempt.

Orton and Jackson, both Vietnam veterans, are being hailed as heroes for alerting police to the suspicious vehicle. The men led Officer Watne Rhatigan to approach the SUV, later saying he heard a popping sound coming from inside.

“I did a lap around the vehicle. The inside was smoking,” Rhatigan told New York’s Daily News. “I smelled gunpowder and knew it might blow. I thought it might blow any second.”

The bomb squad disabled the explosives after surveying the interior of the vehicle with the help of a “remote-controlled robot arm.”

Jackson told reporters he doesn’t consider himself a hero.

There are a bunch of us disabled vets selling here, and we’re used to being vigilant because we all know that freedom isn’t free,” Jackson, 58, told the Times.”

“Freedom isn’t free” says our heroic Vietnam Veteran. Americans remain cowed by a bumbling Napolitano “security” apparatus that humiliates us daily and provides little security in advance of an attack. Napolitano did not know up from down when she made her foolish politically correct statements of delusion.

Big Media will smear our love object hero as “grumpy” Big Media will ignore him when he says Big Media reports the opposite of what actually is said.

Lance Orton did what our massive “security” keystone kops could not. Lance Orton saved us from the plots and bombs of Islamic Terrorist Faisal Shahzad. Unfortunately Lance Orton will not be able to save us from a bigger threat: Big Media and its bias’.

We’ll have to save ourselves.
