Big Pink Man Of The Year

We know, we know, we know… it’s not “man” of the year but rather “person” of the year. “Time” Magazine for years refused to get with the times, preferring outdated sexist and misogynistic language.

Now “Time” Magazine updates its outdated language (yes, “Person of the Year”), which presupposed that the most important person of the year will be a “man”. But most Big Media outlets persist with the sexist and misogynist language and insist on “Man of the Year”. Maybe that’s why they treat(ed) Hillary Clinton with such contempt? Maybe that’s why they treat(ed) Sarah Palin with such contempt? Maybe that’s why they treat all women with the contempt proudly exhibited by Big Blog Boys.

“Time” Magazine has chosen Ben Bernanke as their person. “Time” says its “person of the year” is whoever “for better or worse, has most influenced events in the preceding year.” Bernanke certainly influenced events, by helping Obama to loot the economy. No doubt “Time” would have loved to anoint Barack Obama once again as its love of the year but witnessing how the Nobel “award” blew up decided that would not be such a good idea.

No doubt “Time” would have loved to anoint Michelle Obama as their love runner-up. But other than introducing automobile parts as a fashion accessory along with hospital emergency room supplies and bandages, Michelle, like hubby, has done zero. Of course there was that arugula garden – but no person who has ever watered a plant actually believes that the chemical drenched White House soil could ever produce, in record time yet, luscious “organic” vegetables. “Time” therefore decided to throw its reflected love to Bernanke.

Bernanke was a big force in 2009, whatever you think of him, “for better or worse”. We think there was a greater influence in 2009 however. Who is the “Big Pink Person of the Year”? It’s actually a group of people.

The people who “for better or worse has most influenced events” in 2009 and therefore are the Big Pink Person Of the Year: The NObama Coalition.

This NObama Coalition includes all those websites, particularly the Hillary supporters’ websites who have proudly jumped on the barricades and shouted, flags waving, “Resist!, Resist!”

The NObama coalition has its origins in August 2008. The fight began over “the character of the Democratic Party as well as about its core principles”.

Dean/Obama/Brazille/Pelosi are now addressing the question of sexism (they have yet to denounce Obama for his sexist comments -or his race-baiting or his gay-bashing) as if they were Columbus on a newly mapped world.

The reason why Dean/Obama/Brazille/Pelosi are now referencing a tiny portion of what transpired during the primaries is simple: they want our votes.

Dean/Obama/Brazille/Pelosi along with oldtime and freshly minted Obama supporters who want Democrats to “fall in line” and support Obama are demanding that Hillary supporters “honor” Hillary by supporting Obama. Ain’t gonna happen.

Mothers are wise. Perhaps you have heard a parent say, or you yourself have said “If your friends jump off a cliff, (or out a window) will you jump too?” All our respect for Hillary guarantees is that when Hillary speaks, we listen. But we are not lemmings, we are not automatons, we do not live in dens filled with Hopium. We make up our own minds on who gets our votes.

If there was a mechanism whereby Hillary supporters could support the eventually nominee, whether that is Hillary or Obama or anyone else, and yet also have a way to remove those who stoked the race-baiting, gay-bashing and woman-hating of the primaries; a way to reject the ugly New Democratic Party Obama wants to create – perhaps then an argument could be made for voting for the Democratic nominee no matter who she or he is.

But that mechanism does NOT exist.

Dean/Obama/Brazille/Pelosi believe they have Hillary supporters by the ovaries. Dean/Obama/Brazille/Pelosi think there is no where else to go – that women and all Democrats will have to vote Democratic, that Democrats will have no choice but to support the Democratic nominee no matter what ugly deeds, however much cowardice, however many insults and injuries they authored.

They are wrong.

Obama has taught us how to vote “Present”.

Hillary supporters did not fall in line. Even after the November elections, Hillary supporters did not fall in line. We continued to challenge Obama the treacherous.

As Obama acolytes awaited the golden age, with hope fulfilled and change accomplished, we continued our challenge. We yelled “the Pimp Emperor Has No Clothes!”

Hillary supporters knew

Obama simply cannot be trusted. Obama cannot be trusted on any issue. Obama cannot be trusted by his friends. Obama cannot be trusted by his enemies. Obama cannot be trusted.

We continued our challenge. A few days, yes – only a few days, after Obama fumbled the oath of office, the NObama coalition was born with a birth certificate on these Pink pages. Caroline Kennedy was the first to feel the force of the NObama Coalition.

The Barack Obama Flim-Flam “Stimulus” Scam, for which Bernanke is applauded by “Time” magazine today, was next up. We lost that battle but we continued to shout “Resist!, Resist!”. That battle helped to continue to organize the NObama Coalition.

By March 4, the NObama Coalition began to see more Democrats on capital hill join the resistance. The target then was the 2009 Omnibus Bill. We lost that battle too, but more and more Americans began to realize,

Obama simply cannot be trusted. Obama cannot be trusted on any issue. Obama cannot be trusted by his friends. Obama cannot be trusted by his enemies. Obama cannot be trusted.

As Obama poll numbers drooped and unemployment numbers grew – Dimocrats and the Big Blog Boys continued to defend Obama. But Americans were ever so slowly waking up and echoing our challenges to Obama.

The Tea Parties eventually hit with all the force unleashed at the first Tea Party in Boston, that overthrew the British monarch and liberated the New World.

Soon the collapse. Today’s headline stories are about “Obama cannot be trusted”. Even in the most Hopium drenched dens:

More than anything else in Barack Obama’s presidency so far, health reform has exposed a get-a-deal-at-any-cost side of Obama that infuriates his party’s progressives.

And as Democrats tried to salvage health reform Tuesday, some liberals could barely hide their sense of betrayal that the White House and congressional Democrats have been willing to cut deals and water down what they consider the ideal vision of reform.

Those unprincipled thugs bought Obama, now they own him – it’s like owning Ebola. Obama Ebola, Ebola Obama.

Even the Deaniac boobs, are now realizing they have been had. And it is the Deaniacs who are quoting Obama’s attacks on Hillary. Obama, the boobs say, attacked Hillary for the very things he is now proposing, incompetently and without any logical plan, to do. Maybe the Deaniacs are prepping for a presidential run and an electoral challenge to Ebola.

Liberal icon and all around useless Senator Feingold (who could not decide whether to support Hillary or the boob in his state primary) is rousing himself (or at least rousing his vocabulary) to call Obama out and even call out Obama Hopium guzzlers by defending Joe Lieberman:

Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.), among the most vocal supporters of the public option, said it would be unfair to blame Lieberman for its apparent demise. Feingold said that responsibility ultimately rests with President Barack Obama and he could have insisted on a higher standard for the legislation.

This bill appears to be legislation that the president wanted in the first place, so I don’t think focusing it on Lieberman really hits the truth,” said Feingold. “I think they could have been higher. I certainly think a stronger bill would have been better in every respect.”

Only now does it hit these buffoons that,

Obama simply cannot be trusted. Obama cannot be trusted on any issue. Obama cannot be trusted by his friends. Obama cannot be trusted by his enemies. Obama cannot be trusted.

In 2010, as they watch the exits in ’09, the Dimocrats will have to come to grips with the massive, historic, Mistake In ’08.

The NObama Coalition influenced the events of this year the most. Obama is stymied. Obama is increasingly exposed as a boob with a fake Nobel prize dangling from his, neck.

The NObama Coalition is just getting ready.

Next year, even “Time” magazine will declare the NObama Coalition “Person Of The Year”.

For Big Pink, the NObama Coalition Is the 2009 Person Of The Year.

  1. Next year, in Chicago:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091216/ap_on_re_us/us_blagojevich_indicted

    One of Rod Blagojevich’s attorneys said Wednesday it was possible the defense could call President Obama to take the witness stand if the corruption charges against the former governor go to trial, but added that it wasn’t clear that doing so would be necessary.

    Defense attorney Samuel E. Adam said following a hearing in the case that it would be “an awesome experience in any career” to question Obama, who is not accused of any wrongdoing but did answer questions from federal investigators.

    Blagojevich is charged with scheming to sell or trade Obama’s former U.S. Senate seat, campaign fundraising abuses and other offenses. He has denied wrongdoing.

    Blagojevich attorneys have asked U.S. District Judge James B. Zagel to give them an early look at the government’s evidence, including records of interviews with Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, presidential adviser Valerie Jarrett and two labor backers of Obama, Thomas Balanoff and Andy Stern.

    Zagel indicated he might rule on the request Jan. 27.

    Defense attorneys said there was no way to tell whether it would be necessary to question Obama or whether it would even be allowed. Adam said, however, that “we might as well get started now” finding out by getting an early look at the records.

  2. JanH posted this in the earlier article’s comments and it is worth posting again:

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1209/30679.html

    A new poll of avid news watchers shows that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has a much higher approval rating than the man she once campaigned against and now works for, President Barack Obama.

    In the poll of 800 registered voters who are self-identified “news watchers,” Clinton had a 75 percent approval rating and a 21 percent disapproval rating overall. Obama, in contrast, had a 51 percent approval and a 45 percent disapproval rating. [snip]

    Clarus president Ron Faucheux said one reason for Clinton’s high poll numbers is her high approval among Republicans – numbers he said position her well to run for president again in the future, if she chooses. Clinton had 96 percent approval among Democrats, a healthy 57 percent approval among Republicans, and 65 percent approval among Independents. Obama was nearly as popular among Democrats – 93 percent – but his numbers among Republicans and Independents fell off dramatically, at 19 percent and 33 percent respectively.

  3. Remember ‘if you don’t pass the stimulus unemployment goes up” nonsense? Here’s the latest threat filled lies:

    http://blogs.abcnews.com/theworldnewser/2009/12/president-obama-federal-government-will-go-bankrupt-if-health-care-costs-are-not-reigned-in.html

    President Obama told ABC News’ Charles Gibson in an interview that if Congress does not pass health care legislation that will bring down costs, the federal government “will go bankrupt.”

    The president laid out a dire scenario of what will happen if his health care reform effort fails.
    “If we don’t pass it, here’s the guarantee….your premiums will go up, your employers are going to load up more costs on you,” he said. “Potentially they’re going to drop your coverage, because they just can’t afford an increase of 25 percent, 30 percent in terms of the costs of providing health care to employees each and every year. “

    The president said that the costs of Medicare and Medicaid are on an “unsustainable” trajectory and if there is no action taken to bring them down, “the federal government will go bankrupt.”

    “This actually provides us the best chance of starting to bend the cost curve on the government expenditures in Medicare and Medicaid,” Obama said.

    Obama told Gibson that anybody who says they are concerned about the rising deficit or worried about tax increases in the future has to support this health care bill.

    “Because if we don’t do this, nobody argues with the fact that health care costs are going to consume the entire federal budget,” the president said.

    Obama is facing an increasingly skeptical American public when it comes to his push for health care reform.

    The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll found that support for the health care reform package, while never robust, is now at a low ebb and opposition has been steadily growing stronger in intensity.

  4. WHAT IS THAT LARGE OBJECT DRIVING OVER ME???

    Why, it’s a BUS!

    Jane Hampster at FireDogLame can’t believe it; Obama ran saying one thing, and NOW HE DOES THE OPPOSITE! YIKES! DOUBLE YIKES!!

    The fact is the President campaigned on a public option. There were 88 members of the House who had cosponsored H.R. 676, the “single payer” bill. Rep. Woolsey and Grijalva had sent a letter to Nancy Pelosi in April saying that the 77 member Progressive Caucus would not support a bill without a public option. Didn’t seem like too much to ask that the Democratic party live up to its campaign promises, right?

    Instead, President Obama cut sweetheart deals with medical industry stakeholders (let’s stop pretending that Rahm doesn’t work for him) and insisted that all the power in the Democratic Congress be given to its most conservative members to deliver on it. Joe Lieberman didn’t get here by himself — the day Harry Reid said reconciliation was “off the table,” Joe had the keys to the kingdom.

  5. And in the same vein;

    From NBC’s Mark Murray and Domenico Montanaro
    Just how angry is the public with the country’s two leading political parties? Angry enough that the conservative, libertarian-leaning Tea Party movement is more popular than either the Democratic or the Republican parties, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

    The Republican Party maintains its net-negative favorable/unfavorable rating in the poll, with 28 percent viewing it positively and 43 percent seeing it in a negative light.

    For the first time in more than two years, the Democratic Party also now holds a net-negative fav/unfav, at 35-45 percent.

    By comparison, the NBC/WSJ poll shows the Tea Party movement with a net-positive 41-23 percent score.

    ______________________________

    On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs strongly hit back at former DNC Chairman Howard Dean for criticizing the Senate health care bill, suggesting, at one point, that Dean was being irrational and didn’t understand the contents of the legislation.

    “I don’t know what piece of legislation he is reading,” said Gibbs.

    “I would ask Dr. Dean, how better do you address those who don’t have insurance: passing a bill that will cover 30 million who don’t currently have it or killing the bill?” he added. “I don’t think any rational person would say killing the bill makes a whole lot of sense at this point.”

    Asked if Dean was acting irrationally, Gibbs replied: “I can’t tell what his motives are, to be honest with you.”

    A prominent champion of the public plan, Dean has strongly criticized the recent round of compromises made by Senate Democratic leadership, in which the public option was axed and a provision to expand Medicare was also sacrificed. The former Vermont governor has called the current incarnation a give-away to the insurance industry because it won’t effectively control the cost of premiums and would not create additional competition for the private market. Gibbs went through a list of Dean’s complaints, rebutting them one by one. He also insisted that, during his run for the White House in 2004, Dean ran on a platform that resembled the current Senate bill.

    “If this is an insurance company’s dream, I think the insurance companies have yet to get the memo,” he summarized.

    In actuality, the insurance companies do seem to have considered the recent round of negotiations a victory, with one executive telling Ben Smith of Politico: “We win.”

    The relationship between Dean and the White House has been frosty, starting when the president did not pick the former DNC chair for the post of Health and Human Services Secretary. But the rhetoric from Gibbs on Wednesday brought the animus to a far more public level.

    Asked if they are worried that Dean’s criticism of the bill will sway progressives in the Senate, Gibbs replied: “No.”

    Asked if Dean was an irritant, Gibbs replied: “That is not a question for me to answer. I think if you look at what Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) and Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and others have said, I think they can point out the benefits of the legislation.”

  8. All obama’s shitsuckers from the primaries are gradually getting the memo – The message being “You were useful, not any longer, f*** off”

    The Obama administration obviously never learned be nice on the way up because the way down is gonna be rough.

  9. I did not realize that we had a new article, so I will repost.

    Wbboei, I will post Glenn Beck tonight again as tonight he disclosed what he says is an impeachable offense. Obama is using his strong arm Chi-town politics again Ben Nelson of Nebraska. The White House has told Nelson if he did not get on board with the healthcare bill that they would close the base that is in Nebraska. It’s apparently a hugely important one and the place of the strategic command and control. Its where they put Bush during 9/11. Glenn says this is impeachable.

    This is all I want for Christmas, how about you all????

  10. “Dean/Obama/Brazille/Pelosi along with oldtime and freshly minted Obama supporters who want Democrats to “fall in line” and support Obama are demanding that Hillary supporters “honor” Hillary by supporting Obama. Ain’t gonna happen.”

    What??? Nope! I’d much rather honor Hillary by supporting Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea.

    As far as bambi and his thugs are concerned, there is no honor among thieves.

  11. Good thread going on over at TC about the progressive blogs going nuts. Left radio, even the loathesome Ed Schultz, are screaming their heads off and abandoning in droves, callers calling in are sorry they voted for Obama, even a lot of AA’s.

Hopefully she will try one more time.This time if BM goes after her, I bet there will 18 million people standing in front of their studios with brooms/mops ready to march inside to clean up the corruption that bought and paid for. This time the people will get what they want and the likes of Soros and his band of theives will be put on hold for a while.

    Obama’s Push for Copenhagen Deal Could Violate Constitution, Critics Say

    President Obama’s mission to save the planet from global warming could end up trampling on the U.S. Constitution, critics say.

    When Obama arrives in Copenhagen Friday, he is hoping to cut a deal on a new global-warming agreement. Even though the conference is not likely to produce a legally binding deal, critics say if the president signs an international climate treaty pledging reductions in carbon emissions, he will violate the Constitution.

    “President Obama cannot bind the American people to job killing international agreements on climate change without the advice and consent of the United States Senate,” former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich wrote Wednesday at the conservative Web site Human Events. The Constitution states that the president cannot sign treaties without the approval of two-thirds of the Senate.

    But with climate change legislation stuck in the Senate after the House passed its version earlier this year, the White House is flirting with the possibility of taking action without Congress.

    Last week, on the day the climate summit opened in Denmark, the EPA formally declared that greenhouse gases including carbon dioxide are a danger to human health — a finding that could pave the way for massive new regulations under the Clean Air Act for cars, power plants, crude-oil refineries and chemical plants.

    While administration officials have said they would prefer Congress take action on regulating greenhouse gas emissions, Republicans fear the EPA, buoyed by its latest finding, is prepared to act unilaterally. Democratic Rep. Ed Markey of Massachusetts, co-author of the House climate change bill, told Fox News that the Obama administration has the power to act without Congress through the EPA. “It’s no longer a question of legislation or no legislation,” he told Fox News’ Chris Wallace. “It is now a question of legislation or regulation. The EPA can act.

    “And so this is now something which is going to happen. And the only question now is whether or not, as you say, command and control of the EPA is going to be the way in which we solve the problem, or legislation that allows us to protect trade-intensive, energy-intensive industries, to protect consumers.”

    But Gingrich warned of an uprising if the Obama administration takes action through the EPA. “Similarly, he can’t bypass the peoples’ representatives in Congress by having the EPA pursue the same goals through bureaucratic totalitarianism,” he wrote. “This message to the president is also a message to Congress. Should the Obama administration act unilaterally and subvert the Constitution, the American people will rightfully rise up in opposition.”

    Global leaders were expected to arrive before Friday’s summit finale to sign a political outline of a global warming treaty that would set limits on carbon dioxide pollution by the United States, China and India, as well as extend emissions targets for the 37 countries regulated under the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, which was never ratified by the U.S.

    So far, negotiations in Copenhagen have been rocky. The Obama administration is looking to strike a loose agreement on guidelines for greenhouse gas emissions, with a binding treaty to follow sometime in the future.

    But Obama has received one warning from a member of his party on signing a treaty. Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., told Obama in a letter late last month not to commit the U.S. to any binding climate standards in Copenhagen without congressional support. “As you well know from your time in the Senate, only specific legislation agreed upon in the Congress, or a treaty ratified by the Senate, could actually create such a commitment on behalf of our country,” he wrote. Webb’s office could not be reached for further comment.

    The Center for Biological Diversity Climate Law Institute, however, argues the Supreme Court has given the president the legal authority to bypass Congress and bind the country internationally through an “executive agreement” and that Congress itself has given the president specific authority to negotiate international agreements to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

    In a report, the institute also claims that Obama could “make an international commitment grounded in his power — and indeed, his duty — to enforce existing U.S. environmental laws,” such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act. “In short, any one of these sources of authority would allow President Obama to make a binding, meaningful commitment to the international community,” the institute wrote in the report, titled “Yes He Can: President Obama’s Power to Make an International Climate Commitment Without Waiting for Congress.”

    “Together, these congressional enactments and environmental statutes give President Obama a very strong hand — strong enough to do what the science demands, and not just what a divided and rancorous Congress might someday allow.”

    But others framed Obama’s trip to Copenhagen in very different terms. “Who will President Obama heed?” Vince Haley, vice president of policy at American Solutions for Winning the Future, wrote in an opinion article published in FoxNews.com. “The American people and our constitutional system of checks and balances, or the collection of dictators, tyrants, and most undemocratic heads of government convened by the United Nations in Copenhagen this week?

    “They are tempting the American president to do what he wants to do and what they mostly do: ignore the will of their own people and sign a political agreement based on an unconstitutional sham.”

    confloyd it is a slap in bambi’s face. They are flaunting their ridicule of his absurd policy of talk…talk…talk…and no action.

    At the same time I see this as a war crime and that Israel and the U.S. should push the U.N. to severe sanctions. Israel will not take this lying down. And I read today that Mitchell is on his way back to Israel to push them into giving up everything just so the palestinians and Arabs, along with the resources they have that the U.S. desperately needs, will win it all. The Arabs, Iran included in the mix, are boasting that they have already one and that bambi will give in to their every demand.

    Americans Souring on Democrats

    Public’s Malaise and Insecurity Translate Into Significant Shift in Political Landscape Since Start of the Obama Era.

    By PETER WALLSTEN

    Support for the Democratic Party is slumping amid a wave of public discontent, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.

    The findings underscore how dramatically the political landscape has changed during the Obama administration’s first year. In January, voters were optimistic about the future, the new president enjoyed soaring approval ratings, and congressional leaders were set to swiftly pass his ambitious agenda.

    In December’s survey, for the first time, less than half of Americans approved of the job Barack Obama is doing, marking a steeper first-year fall for this president than his recent predecessors.

    Also for the first time this year, the electorate is split when asked which party they would like to see in charge after the 2010 elections. For months, a clear plurality favored Democratic control. The survey suggests that public discontent with Mr. Obama and his party is being driven by an unusually grim view of the country’s status and future prospects.

    A majority of Americans believe the U.S. is in decline. And a plurality now say the U.S. will be surpassed by China in 20 years as the top power—a striking finding, considering most Americans long believed their own country was the undisputed heavyweight champion.

    Democrats’ problems seem in part linked to their ambitious health-care plan, billed as the signature achievement of Mr. Obama’s first year. Now, for the first time, more people say they would prefer Congress do nothing on health care than those who want to see the overhaul enacted.

    “For Democrats, the red flags are flying at full mast,” said Democratic pollster Peter Hart, who conducts the survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff. “What we don’t know for certain is: Have we reached a bottoming-out point?”

    The biggest worry for Democrats is that the findings could set the stage for gains by Republican candidates in next year’s elections. Support from independents for the president and his party continues to dwindle. In addition, voters intending to back Republicans expressed far more interest in the 2010 races than those planning to vote for Democrats.

    But public displeasure with Democrats is not translating directly into warmth for Republicans. Twenty-eight percent of voters expressed positive feelings about the GOP — a number that has remained constant through the Democrats’ decline over the summer and fall. Only 5% said their feelings toward the Republicans were “very positive.”

    And in one arena, Afghanistan, Mr. Obama appeared to have some success in winning support for his planned troop surge. Liberals remain largely opposed to the strategy, but in fewer numbers compared with before Mr. Obama made his case in a speech at West Point. Overall, by 44% to 41%, a plurality believes his strategy is the right approach.

    Still, the survey paints a decidedly gloomy picture for Democrats, who appear to be bearing the brunt of public unease over joblessness and Washington’s economic policies. Thirty-five percent of voters said they felt positively about the Democratic Party, a 14-point slide since February. “Overall, it’s just a depressing time right now,” said Mike Ashmore, 23 years old, of Lansdale, Pa., an independent who supported Mr. Obama last year but now complains about the president’s lack of action on jobs. “A lot of my friends are either employed and hate it, or are unemployed,” Mr. Ashmore said.

    Julie Edwards, 52, an aircraft technician for Boeing Co. in Mesa, Ariz., said she voted Democratic in the past two elections but is not sure how she will vote next time. She wonders why Wall Street firms were bailed out when average Americans need help. “We can bail out Wall Street, but everybody else has to suffer in spades for it,” she said.

    Democratic leaders, while bracing for losses next year, have argued that unlike the 1994 elections, in which Republicans gained 54 seats and retook the House majority, Democrats would survive 2010 in part because they are taking steps to avoid that possibility. Republicans must gain 41 seats to take control.

    House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday that she “fully intends to be in the majority” after November 2010, and she was now shifting to “campaign mode” to help candidates. Party officials are leaning on a number of longtime colleagues to fight for their seats rather than retire.

    The Journal/NBC survey found Ms. Pelosi’s presence on the campaign trail could do more harm than good. Fifty-two percent said they would be less likely to vote for a candidate who agreed with the speaker almost all the time, compared with 42% who felt that way about candidates siding with Republican leaders.

    For Mr. Obama, who has relied on his personal popularity to retain the political clout he needs to enact his legislative agenda, the survey points to troubling signs.
    A majority for the first time now disapproves of his handling of the economy. And the public’s personal affection for the president, a consistent strong suit, has begun to fray. Fifty percent now feel positively about him, six points lower than in October and an 18-point drop since his early weeks in office.

    Democrats’ troubles can be attributed in part to changing feelings among some core supporters. A third of voters 34 and under, a group that turned out heavily for Democrats last year, feel negatively toward the Democratic Party. And just 38% of Hispanics feel positively, down sharply from the 60% in February.
    For all of the Democrats’ challenges, they can be thankful that they do not have to try to reverse Americans’ feelings about golfer Tiger Woods. In the wake of revelations about his extramarital affairs, just 5% feel positive about Mr. Woods.

    The survey, which was conducted Dec. 11-14, has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.

  16. As Obama Pushes For Second Stimulus, Federal Audit Agency Says States Have Only Spent One-Quarter of Funds Set Aside for Them in First Stimulus

    CNSNews.com) – As President Obama and congressional Democrats push for a second stimulus package, a federal auditing agency is reporting that less than one-quarter of the economic stimulus money allocated for spending by the states has been used–the majority of which went to cover increases in Medicaid…

  17. hi gals and guys

    someone posted soem huffpo links here so I went and read dutifully.
    I am amazed how shallow and uninformed the posters are there.
    while they have quite a few the wisdom that can be found in their comments there is almost zero. their posters seem to be from a different class of net user? anyway thank you all for your research and informed opinions whether I agree with them or not.

    JanH, HfT, moon, confloyd and especially wbb I really appreciate your posts. bunch more I missed.

    went and read TMs site the other day. she did an awesome job supporting Hillary until zero stole the prmary. read the writing on the wall and shifted gears and bought onto the hope and pride ship. its sad to see the decline she has suffered. but she totally deserves it for supporting zero.

    up until the last few days I couldnt stand the zero sites preening and gloating so never read much on them but the whining and crying over the ones betrayal of their votes is payback the backstabbing for zeros ascension.

    NY Board of Elections certifies fraudulent NY-23 Election Results
    COMMISSIONER OPENLY ADMITS MACHINES IN ERIE COUNTY WERE PROGRAMED TO SWITCH VOTES
    by John Charlton

    The Gouverneur Times has provided excellent coverage of the NY-23rd Special Election, documenting the fraud from day one. Click the image above, to access their site.
    (Dec. 15, 2009) — The corruption in the New York Board of Elections would be laughable if it were on TV, but today at 1:00 PM the Board actually did certify the use of electronic voting machines which one commissioner admitted, during the meeting, had been found to switch the votes between candidates during the recent election!

    Howard Stanislevic, of the Gouverneur Times, decried the corruption of the New York State Board of Elections, in an article published just one hour ago:

    At the hearing, Commissioner Kellner confirmed our worst fears about e-vote counting (see his testimony below). Kellner stated that in Erie County, during the process of entering ballot programming data, vote switching between candidates had been programmed into the computer (Election Management System or EMS) that, in turn, programed the county’s optical scanners. The scanners then proceeded to switch the votes at the polls as the ballots were cast on election day. This real-time vote switching was undetectable by voters, poll workers or other election officials.

    Kellner said in this case the vote switching was detected later because the election results appeared to be implausible. The scanners supposedly failed their pre-election Logic and Accuracy test due to the vote-switching problem. That’s good, but county election officials ignored the results of their own tests and held the election using the vote-switching configuration anyway

    Commissioner Kellner also stated that this county, which uses ES&S systems, was among the best in the 2009 “pilot” elections (held with real voters and candidates). We don’t doubt his word that the errors were eventually corrected. But if Erie was one of the best counties, we’d hate to see one of the worst counties that participated in this experiment.

    Stanislevic included a link describing the vote-switching machines in detail.

    Certified Election Results for the New York 23rd District Special Election, 2009

    Official Tabulation of Results: Click on image to read official PDF.
    The official results as certified by the NY State Board of Elections were:

    Bill Owens: 73,137 votes

    Debe Scozzafava: 8,582 votes

    Doug Hoffman: 69,553

    Leading Expert Finds Statistical Signs of Vote Tampering in NY-23 Special Election
    Dr. Richard Hayes Phillips, in a previous article published by the same paper, described some of the other glaring irregularities found in the vote tally. In 8 polling stations in St. Lawrence County, machines were locked and taken to a warehouse and counted in private; when NY law requires all votes to be counted at the polling stations, in public. The illegal vote counting in those cases resulted in statistically impossible results:

    An audit of the poll books and absentee voter lists for three of these eight polling places reveals that the preliminary hand count could not have been correct. In Louisville, there were 885 actual voters at the polls, but only 691 votes were counted for Congress on Election Night. In Waddington, there were 754 actual voters at the polls, but only 347 votes were counted for Congress on Election Night. In Rossie, there were 138 actual voters at the polls, but only 94 votes were counted for Congress on Election Night. 53 votes were counted later. Bill Owens got 50 of them.

    St. Lawrence County is the county where Owens got most of the votes according to earlier, unofficial tallies. But Dr. Phillips found cases where votes disappeared, more ballots appeared, blank ballots appeared, and votes were found, distributed in manners vastly different from the statistical expectations. Errors which nearly always gave Owens a greater lead.

    Dr. Phillips article deserves to be read in full. He concludes his analysis with a condemnation of the election:

    Each of these corruptions of the vote count can be attributed to electronic vote tabulation. Together with the breakdown or freezing of the Sequoia/Dominion ImageCast voting machines at eight polling places, there is more than enough evidence in St. Lawrence County to show that the court-ordered “pilot” election in New York’s 23rd Congressional District was an utter failure, and that the time-tested lever machines were much more reliable.

    The Gouverneur Times noted elsewhere, that the special election used electronic voting machines as per an agreement between the State of New York and the Obama controlled Justice Department.

    The Post & Email has previously reported election irregularities in the NY-23rd District Special Election, which resulted in at least 4,200 suspect votes. Today’s report from the Gouverneur Times confirms our judgement that the election was rigged from the start, and that the Board of Elections has knowingly ignored the evidence and shirked its duty to uphold free and fair elections.

  19. Connie: if the President in his role as Chief Executive and Commander in Chief threatened to shut down a base deemed essential to the defense of the nation in order to induce a senator to change his vote on a health care proposal opposed by his constituents then the President is tinkering around the edges of an impeachable offense. The problem is the charge would depend on the willingness of Nelson to testify against the putative leader of his party. Also, the House of Representatives where the charge would be brought is controlled by the Dimocrats.

    Under the circumstances, I think it is a wrong without a remedy. Or to be more precise, the remedy is not in the halls of Congress, or in a courtroom but at the ballot box.

  20. The BOGUS POTUS is fast fading into wherever he came from and none
    too soon.I picked the following up on hillbuzz.

    No surprise to us.

    Hillary Clinton’s approval rating is at 75%.

    For those concern trolls out there who like to come here and say “She should have stayed in the Senate”, there’s no way in Hell her approval would be at 75% if she had to be caught up in the Stimulus Spending, Cap & Tax, and Utopiacare domestic policy madness.

    Whatever Secretary Clinton wants to do in the future, she is being well served in the hearts and minds of Americans in her position at State.

    She travels the world and looks presidential. Newsweek just ranked her as one of the 10 people who changed the way the world thinks about certain issues this decade: because of her, it is now common and unremarkable to think about the next president being female. Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton did that.

    We hope every day Democrats realize she should have been elected president in 2008…we would all be in much better shape today.

    But, we truly do believe, we’re in better shape globally right now because HRC rose to the occasion and answered the call to duty and took the position at State. She is the sole grown-up and voice of reason in an immature and reckless administration.

    Thank Heaven for Hillary Clinton, is all we can say.

    75% of the country seems to agree.

  21. Wbboei, Isn’t that just awful that congress will allow this little jerk to get away with this?? What about the people of Nebraska, have they no say so?? I guess of coarse Nelson will deny it because he would be scared to come out against the President. This usurper is going to cause a rioting in the streets before this is over, I betcha! Look at the teaparty protesters, they are getting larger and larger. All it will take is one spark and it will start. I can’t understand why Congress can’t see what they are doing by letting this guy get away with this. All I can say is, that Axelrove must have lots of dirt on those folks and is threatening to use it.

    Its terrible what they did to Lieberman.

  22. Well, now I hear that Lieberman did what POTUS asked him to and that was to kill the Public option?? I wish I really knew what was going on here.

    I think Hillary was right a few days ago when she said transparency is what they needed in the healthcare debate.

  23. Here’s the real article about the missile fired in Iran, not the cleansed one that BM is talking about.

    ief Ban Ki-Moon in Copenhagen.

    In Washington, Defense Department press secretary Geoff Morrell called the launch provocative but said the technology was not “particularly different than anything we’ve seen in the past.”

    “Obviously, it is another example of provocative actions on the part of the Iranian government that do nothing to instill any degree of confidence in its neighbors that it has peaceful intentions,” he said.

    Wednesday’s test was for the latest version of Iran’s longest-range missile, the Sajjil-2, with a range of about 1,200 miles. That range places Israel, Iran’s sworn enemy, well within reach, as well as U.S. bases in the Gulf region and parts of southeastern Europe.

    The two-stage Sajjil-2 and is powered entirely by solid-fuel while the older, medium-range Shahab-3 missile uses a combination of solid and liquid fuel in its most advanced form.

    Iran has repeatedly warned it will retaliate if Israel or the United States carries out military strikes against its nuclear facilities, at a time when the U.S. and its allies accuse Tehran of seeking to develop a nuclear weapon. Iran denies the claim, saying its program is intended solely to generate electricity.

    Nuclear negotiations have been deadlocked for months, with Iran equivocating over a U.N.-drafted deal aimed at removing most of its low-enriched uranium from the country so it would not have enough stockpiles to produce a bomb. The U.N. nuclear watchdog last month sharply rebuked Iran for refusing to halt uranium enrichment.

    State television broke the news in a one-sentence report accompanied by a brief clip of the test, showing the missile rising from the launch pad in a cloud of smoke.

    Defense Minister Gen. Ahmad Vahidi vowed that the Sajjil-2 would be a “strong deterrent” against any possible foreign attack. He said the new version can be fired more quickly and flies faster than previous ones making it harder to shoot down, though he did not give further details.

    “Given its high speed,” he said, speaking on state TV, “it is impossible to destroy the missile with anti-missile systems because of its radar-evading ability.”

    Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor declined to comment on the latest missile test.

    Iran has intensified its missile development program in recent years, a source of serious concern in Israel, the United States and its Western allies at a time when they accuse Tehran of seeking to build a nuclear weapon. Iran, which is under several sets of U.N. sanctions over its nuclear program, denies the charges and says its nuclear program is aimed solely at generating electricity.

    Israel has not ruled out a military strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities. Iran, in turn, has threatened that such an attack would be retaliated against with strikes on Israel’s own nuclear sites.

    The name “Sajjil” means “baked clay,” a reference to a story in the Quran, Islam’s holy book, in which birds sent by God drive off an enemy army attacking the holy city of Mecca by pelting them with stones of baked clay.

    The Sajjil-2 was first tested in May. Iranian officials touted it as a breakthrough over the Sajjil-1 unveiled months earlier, saying the new missile had a more sophisticated navigation system. The Sajjil-2 was tested a second time in September.

    Solid-fuel missiles like the Sajjil-2 are more accurate than the liquid fuel missiles of similar range currently possessed by Iran. They are also a concern because they can be fueled in advance and moved or hidden in silos. Iran previously had a solid-fuel missile, the Fateh, with a far shorter range of 120 miles.

    Iran’s arms manufacturing program began during the country’s ruinous 1980-88 war with neighboring Iraq to compensate for a U.S. arms embargo. Since 1992, Iran has produced its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles and a fighter plane. The actual capabilities of the weapons, including the accuracy and range of the country’s homemade missiles, are difficult to ascertain given the secrecy of the Iranian military

  24. Connie: I doubt he will buckle to that threat. He is in trouble in Nebraska, and if he caves for whatever reason his senate career is kaput. And there is nothing Obama can do to help him with that problem. New projects will not do it and Obama has no coattails. In red states Obama is fast becoming a huge liability to any vulnerable blue dog. They will tell him stay out of my state I do not need you.

  25. Extortion is a two way street. If you are president and you make an extortionate threat (based on the above logic) then you may think you own your victim, but the truth is he also owns you. This is one button he cannot push. This little threat has got Emanuel and/or Messina’s finger prints all over it.

  26. wbboei, OK, this is pissing me off. I can’t get to the GlennBeck videos. They have so we can’t get them and download them. Apparently the last segment shows the red phone ringing and its the whitehouse. Beck was out of time so we did not find out what was said. My satellite went down at the third segment. I am just very freaking suspicious about this whole thing.

  27. wbboei, here it is, they are trying to scrub this, so I found it a youtube.

    ADmin: you might want to post this.

  28. I can’t get the last segment, they have the right date on them but they are old videos, they are scrubbing while I write this post. What is America coming too.

    BTW, over at Countusout, Danny Glover, said Obama is Bush III, but so would of Hillary’s. BULLSHIT!!

  29. Wbboei @ 8:40, Your comment reminds me of my stint working at the TExas prisons. They would always tell you if you break a rule for a prisoner, he owns you and your job. Maybe this will be a GOOD thing for the bluedogs if they know how to use it against this corrupt SOB.

    Obama is mouthpeice for Insurance Companies

    ABC’s Karen Travers reports from Washington:

    http://blogs.abcnews.com/theworldnewser/2009/12/president-obama-federal-government-will-go-bankrupt-if-health-care-costs-are-not-reigned-in.html

    President Obama told ABC News’ Charles Gibson in an interview that if Congress does not pass health care legislation that will bring down costs, the federal government “will go bankrupt.”

    The president laid out a dire scenario of what will happen if his health care reform effort fails.

    Gibson Obama “If we don’t pass it, here’s the guarantee….your premiums will go up, your employers are going to load up more costs on you,” he said.

    Watch Charlie Gibson’s interview with President Obama tonight on World News and check back on ABCNews.com for the full interview.

    For the first time, a majority of those surveyed disapproved of the president’s work on health care (53 percent) and oppose the health care reform package making its way through Congress (51 percent, compared to 44 percent approval).

    That seven-point margin for opposition is its most to date — indeed statistically significant for the first time — and the differential in intensity of sentiment has grown since September.

    Water Spew!! Fabulous. Yes, Jane Hamsher had that one coming. How any of these people could have been so blind is beyond all reason.

  32. rgb44hrc,, Is this Jane Hamsher of firedoglake??

    Well, if the blue dogs band together, they have something big on POTUS, the question is will they??

  33. JanH, that is a strong article from Peter Wallsten.

    “For Democrats, the red flags are flying at full mast,” said Democratic pollster Peter Hart, who conducts the survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff. “What we don’t know for certain is: Have we reached a bottoming-out point?” [snip]

  34. They have been screaming for Rahm’s head, this may be the ax. The lefties want Emmanuel out, they might get their wish as he will be told to fall on his sword for the greater good. Gee, I bet Christmas at the WH for employees must be a relaxing time of the year!! LOL!! Reminds me of my stint working for the Texas prison system, it was always such a relaxing place to work while your co-workers plot your extinction every waking minute. The inmates were a breeze compared to the coworkers.

  35. Olbermann went ballistic tonight on Obama, I hear. Says he sold out to the insurance companies. Screamed that he would refuse to buy insurance, and dared the president to jail him. People at TC are laughing their asses off.

  36. Oh please, the president cannot unilaterally close a base. The president can recommend it but it’s up to the military and a congressional vote. This is Beck bullshitting. Don’t listen to this crap.

    ————–

    The White House is vehemently denying that they ever made the threat and are calling it a vicious partison rumor.

  38. Beck never said he threatened to close it all by himself by fiat order. He had the journalist on who got the leak from a staffer, and the guy said that they threatened to put that base on the BRAC list. If you don’t think that the Pentagon and this congress would do as Obama asks, I think you’re wrong on that.

    Oh, and within a few hours, Ben Nelson was on Teevee saying he WILL be voting for this HCR bill, whereas before he had conditions. Pretty quick conversion if you ask me.

  39. JanH, Its not like they haven’t strong armed anyone, it follows the pattern.

    Here’s the last clip of the White House texting the Glenn Beck Show, so I guess we will find out what they said on tomorrow’s clip.

  40. H4T, I believe it, why would he change it. This administration has and uses every possible means to get what they want, afterall, they have Soros money to investigate the world if they have to.

  41. Okay, I found it, its the utopia that Soros and Obama want, they just need to go there and set up all their crap there and take all the kool-aid drinkers with them.

    PARIS (AFP) – Astronomers have discovered a new Earth-like planet that is larger than our own and may be more than half covered with water, according to a study published Wednesday in the science journal Nature.

    The so-called “super Earth” is about 42 light years away in another solar system and has a radius nearly 2.7 times larger than that of our planet, according to the study by the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics.

    The discovery of the planet, called GJ 1214b, represents a “major step forward” in the search for worlds similar to the Earth, added the University of California’s Geoffrey Marcy in a commentary also in Nature.

    The “newfound world” is too hot to sustain life as we know it, said the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics in a statement.

    Its density suggests however it “is composed of about three-fourths water and other ices and one fourth-rock,” it said. “There are also tantalising hints that the planet has a gaseous atmosphere.”

    Its temperature is estimated at between 280 and 120 degrees Celsius (536 and 248 degrees Fahrenheit) with its host star about one-fifth the size of the Sun, according to the scientists.

    “Despite its hot temperature, this appears to be a waterworld,” says Zachory Berta, a graduate student who first spotted hints of the planet’s presence.

    “It is much smaller, cooler and more Earthlike than any other known exoplanet,” he said in the statement.

    An exoplanet is one outside of our solar system.

    Berta said some of the water would likely be in crystalline form that exists at pressures greater than 20,000 times Earth’s sea-level atmosphere.

    Its temperature is much lower than that on the only similar discovery, called CoRoT-7b, which revolves around a star that is much hotter, the scientists say.

    The CoRoT-7b has a density close to that of the Earth (5.5 grammes per cubic centimetre) and seems to be rocky, while the new discovery appears to be much less dense (1.9 g/cm3).

    “To keep the planet’s density that low requires that it contains large amounts of water,” said Marcy. “It must contain a huge amount of water, roughly 50 percent by mass.”

    The “wild card” is the make-up of the gases on the planet, he said.

    The planet orbits every 38 hours around a small, faint star that was first spotted by eight ground-based telescopes no larger than those used by amateur astronomers, the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre said.

    Its relative closeness makes its possible to study it to determine its atmosphere.

    “That will make it the first super Earth with a confirmed atmosphere — even though that atmosphere probably won’t be hospitable to life as we know it,” said David Charbonneau who heads the research team.

  42. ABC News is catching up to what we wrote in June 2007. Finally ABC is discussing what Robert Gibbs did to Howie Dean. Maybe this old feud will get Howie to take on Obama (as we suspect he will). Here is what we wrote back then:

    http://www.hillaryis44.org/2007/06/26/varmints/

    Obama’s campaign from day 1 has been a negative machine operation posing as clean new politics. We pointed out how his campaign began by hiring “hired muscle” in the form of David Axelrod. The Obama campaign is run by Robert Gibbs who ran advertisments against Howard Dean in 2004 which morphed Dean’s face into the face of Osama bin Laden (ironic isn’t it that the Obama campaign yells “foul” when horrible people refer to Obama as “Osama” – it’s called KARMA, Robert Gibbs.) You hire people for the type of campaign you want to run.

    Later in 2007 we started to run the video Gibbs produced about Dean.

    http://www.hillaryis44.org/2007/09/08/stinky-politics/

    ABC News is now catching up to what we wrote then:

    On Vermont Public Radio Tuesday, Dean called for Democratic senators to kill the bill.

    “I don’t think any rational person would say killing a bill makes any sense at this point,” Gibbs said today.

    Asked why he thought Dean was making the arguments he’s making, Gibbs said, “I can’t tell what his motives are.” He said the Senate legislation was essentially what Dean “campaigned for in 2004” but better.

    (As an aside, it may be worth recalling that Gibbs, who worked for the presidential campaign of Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., in 2004, left the Kerry campaign and helped run a shadowy 527 organization aimed at defeating Dean, “Americans for Jobs, Healthcare & Progressive Values,” which ran a TV ad in Iowa depicting Osama bin Laden with the voice-over narration, “Howard Dean just cannot compete with George Bush on foreign policy.”)

  43. confloyd, that texting of the show is so damned juvenile. Yeah, Beck is juvenile too, but he’s an ENTERTAINER and political blowhard. He’s allowed to be juvenile.

    The POTUS is supposed to have dignity. The POTUS does not get in petty pissing contests with individuals, whether it be Rush or Palin, or Beck, or whoever. Once you attain the office of the presidency, you shouldn’t sully that by using that office to have damned FEUDS. It’s trashy and just plain low class.

    Jeebus, can you imagine if Bush had personally gone after every TV host or blogger who said bad things about him? The man might be a devil, but at least he had some respect for the office.

  44. From ABC NEWS:

    “President Obama told ABC News’ Charles Gibson in an interview that if Congress does not pass health care legislation that will bring down costs, the federal government “will go bankrupt.”

    I see, we need to spend $2.5 trillion on a government take-over of health care — or the U.S. will go bankrupt?

    Uh, huh. It is like the skit from Saturday Night Live — the trillion dollar man says he is worried about debt, but all he does is spend money.

    The $2.5 trillion price tag on ObamaCare may be why an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released today found:

    “Democrats’ problems seem in part linked to their ambitious health-care plan, billed as the signature achievement of Mr. Obama’s first year. Now, for the first time, more people said they would prefer Congress did nothing on health care than who wanted to see the overhaul enacted.”

    The NBC/Wall Street Journal poll results may also explain this instant classic from Michael Barone:

    “it’s interesting that when Massachusetts Democrat Michael Capuano, fresh from a second-place finish in the primary for Edward Kennedy’s Senate seat, was asked to tell the Democratic caucus what he had learned on the campaign trail, he replied in two words: “You’re screwed.”

    Russians confirm that UK climate scientists manipulated data to exaggerate global warming (ht/Womens State)

    Climategate just got much, much bigger. And all thanks to the Russians who, with perfect timing, dropped this bombshell just as the world’s leaders are gathering in Copenhagen to discuss ways of carbon-taxing us all back to the dark ages.
    Feast your eyes on this news release from Rionovosta.

    Russia affected by Climategate

    A discussion of the November 2009 Climatic Research Unit e-mail hacking incident, referred to by some sources as “Climategate,” continues against the backdrop of the abortive UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen (COP15) discussing alternative agreements to replace the 1997 Kyoto Protocol that aimed to combat global warming.

    The incident involved an e-mail server used by the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich, East England. Unknown persons stole and anonymously disseminated thousands of e-mails and other documents dealing with the global-warming issue made over the course of 13 years.

    Controversy arose after various allegations were made including that climate scientists colluded to withhold scientific evidence and manipulated data to make the case for global warming appear stronger than it is.

    Climategate has already affected Russia. On Tuesday, the Moscow-based Institute of Economic Analysis (IEA) issued a report claiming that the Hadley Center for Climate Change based at the headquarters of the British Meteorological Office in Exeter (Devon, England) had probably tampered with Russian-climate data.

    The IEA believes that Russian meteorological-station data did not substantiate the anthropogenic global-warming theory.

    Analysts say Russian meteorological stations cover most of the country’s territory, and that the Hadley Center had used data submitted by only 25% of such stations in its reports.

    Over 40% of Russian territory was not included in global-temperature calculations for some other reasons, rather than the lack of meteorological stations and observations.

    The data of stations located in areas not listed in the Hadley Climate Research Unit Temperature UK (HadCRUT) survey often does not show any substantial warming in the late 20th century and the early 21st century.

    The HadCRUT database includes specific stations providing incomplete data and highlighting the global-warming process, rather than stations facilitating uninterrupted observations.

    On the whole, climatologists use the incomplete findings of meteorological stations far more often than those providing complete observations.

    IEA analysts say climatologists use the data of stations located in large populated centers that are influenced by the urban-warming effect more frequently than the correct data of remote stations.

    The scale of global warming was exaggerated due to temperature distortions for Russia accounting for 12.5% of the world’s land mass. The IEA said it was necessary to recalculate all global-temperature data in order to assess the scale of such exaggeration.

    Global-temperature data will have to be modified if similar climate-date procedures have been used from other national data because the calculations used by COP15 analysts, including financial calculations, are based on HadCRUT research.

  47. H4T, Yep, I agree. Beck is entertaining. I am usually laughing thru the whole thing. He almost like a comedian. I lost his little cry, baseball bat thing is hilarious. He is dead on with his observations though, and that what pisses off the WH. He makes them look foolish and they just hate that. They are so incapable of excuting the Presidency with any wisdom, class and/or knowledge, it pathetic.

    That ship is taking on water very fast now.

  48. Admin, so my take on this is that Obama has hired Republican operatives and is using their techniques to get what they want. I wonder did GWB strong arm Senators?? My guess is he did. I guess all those conversations between Brazile and Rove was all in how to do it.

  49. sirmrks: I agree with your observations about the people who post comments at huffpo. Their comments are shallow and emotional. They are naive and desperate people. They are becoming bitter people. They are learning two lessons of life:

    1. never wish for anything too much because you may have the misfortune of getting it.

    2. what you think you see is not necessarily what you get. Indeed it may be the opposite.

    Concerning Taylor, I feel the same way you do. She did some excellent work for Hillary and one of our former bloggers Mary Richards went to a womens conference in Washington DC and saw Hillary personally thank Taylor for the fine work she had done. But shortly thereafter Taylor took a pro Obama tack, and I lost all faith in her. Suddenly, ignorant bots rushed to her website and like Greshams Law the bad money chased out the good. Why did she change? I think it is an income thing, a desire to remain relevant and a faith in the democratic party–my country may she always be right but right or wrong my country. But now that she is waking up to the fact that the man she supported is not a democrat but is really a trojan horse for global economic interests and not much of a patriot. Taylor is most definitely a patriot albeit a misguided one.

  50. Top Liberal Blog Meltdown: Obama Like Homosexual Rapist in Deliverance, Dems Like Ned Beatty

    Wednesday, December 16, 2009 10:28:46 PM

    Firedoglake, a prominent liberal blog has posted an article calling Barack Obama a homosexual rapist straight out of the classic 1972 movie Deliverance who has forced himself on Democrats, violently raping them with his policies.

    Writing at the aptly titled “Seminal” blog at Firedoglake, Alabamagunn vents in a sometimes incorehent rant that he/she was seduced by Obama, and then horridly violated:

    I admit I kinda began to believe the hype–another bad omen; should’ve listend to Flav. When promises to end a senseless war, revive the middle class, combat and prosecute war crimes, meaningfully reform healthcare, curtail Wall Street’s abuse of power and re-institute financial regulations, create jobs to reinvigorate the middle class, and take steps to combat climate change emanated, I admit I was partially seduced in that way we’re all partially seduced by someone we think may wreck our lives but careless abandon and lust for a return to youthful naïvete overcomes the superego and id wins out! I stupidly believed the pillow talk.

    Jump 11 months into the future:

    …Middle class Americans suffer the Ned Beatty fate daily and are so abused they are likely to be killed off within the next three years.

    Obama’s Justice Department is filing Amicus Briefs on behalf of Bush’s torture lawyer.

    Guantanamo is still open as are other illegal “Black Prisons”.

    No torture hearings, prosecutions, or any other real investigations.

    …Financial regulation is going no where.

    Jobs aren’t coming back.

    Forget any climate change reform.

    Bush’s willfully and wantonly abusive tax cuts aren’t ever going to be repealed.

    Which gets me back to Ned Beatty as that is when I, and I suspect a lot of you, became him. I mean, what were all of those unrealized–or utterly ignored once elected–promises if not pillow talk? It’s as if between playful ear twists and encouragement to squeal I can hear, “Let me be clear, when I’m elected president, I will end this war. Now squeal, bitch.” In fact, originally, as many victims of abuse often fail to leave and even defend their abusers, I’ve defended my metaphorical, drunken redneck rapist. I still believed he would change. As many spurned and/or abused lovers have defended their mate’s transgressions with, “but this time he’ll change,” I too did so.

    Now, though, after realizing I’m nothing more than Ned Beatty’s fate, I have to ask myself, “Can you believe in change?”

    It’s not been staggeringly easy to do so. I mean, I’m feeling violated, angry, sullen, and depressed–much as I did when Bush was in office. It doesn’t help to see the ne’er-do-well Republicans continue to swagger and obstruct as they’ve always done even in the face of a mind numbingly, career ending defeat coupled with absolutely crushingly low poll numbers. Yet, they seem to be WINNING for ****s sake while the Democrats with an overwhelming majority–excuse me for reversing the metaphor–bend over and willingly ask for repeated raping Ned Beatty style. You see, we’re not alone, even our elected leaders are Ned Beatty. The difference is, in victory they act as the defeated. In defeat, they act even more defeated. Why, oh why, do they even pretend to fight? Even I can see it’s all a ruse.

    The article concludes with a rousing call for Democrats to get off their hands and knees and fight!:

    Ergo, my original point, we’re all Ned Beatty and will be until we exercise the right to loudly protest while we still have it. It’s time for the Neds of the country to get off our collective hands and knees, stop acting piggy, and with exceeding volume demand our representatives represent our interests as vocally and obnoxiously as the other side. They are beating us after we shamed them. Had Obama not abandoned his promise and sold us out, had congressional and senatorial democrats not been, well, democrats, perhaps they would not be standing in line behind him for a turn to ream us. Or, perhaps we languished in post coital numbness for too long and are now too flummoxed, confused, betrayed, and, well, brutally mind raped to admit Obama is really a lighter shade of Bush.

  51. Obama is a world class fool to tell Gibson that the US will face bankruptcy if health care does not pass. There is great tension and uncertainty in the air about our financial situation. Improvident statements like this one are the hallmark of a desperate inept man who is over his head. He is cracking up before our eyes.

    The Big Energy Lie goes something like this:

    The United States has only 2-3% of the world’s oil reserves, but consumes 25% of global production.
    Those words have been uttered by our Dear Leader as well as his Secretaries of Energy and Interior. The idea justifies “progressive” Administration policies ranging from “green jobs” to Cap and Trade to foreign affairs.

    And they are deliberately designed to mislead.

    Let’s study the fraction that results in that paltry 2-3% number.

    The Numerator – U.S. Reserves

    Geologists and engineers make estimates of petroleum resources, the total potential future recoverable quantity of oil and/or gas. Right now, the U.S. has considerable potential resources in places like the Outer Continental Shelf, ANWR and the Colorado Oil Shale. Reserves, on the other hand, is the term applied to that subset of resources that have been proven to exist by drilling and can be recovered with existing technology. Since we’ve made a policy decision to keep ANWR and 85% of the OCS pristine, those resources will never be “promoted” to reserve status. Until and unless someone figures out a way to exploit the oil shale profitably (and secures the blessings of the sate and the Feds), those resources will not be counted as reserves, either.

    (I don’t know the numbers off the top of my head for oil, but for gas, the U.S. has reserves on the order of 200 trillion cubic feet, and annual production of roughly 20 trillion cubic feet. Natural gas resources are about 2,000 trillion cubic feet. Every year, if things go right, we should drill enough new wells to turn resources into reserves to replace production. And at the current rate of gas production, we’ll be able to do this for another 100 years or so.)

    As an analogy, imagine a multi-millionaire who owns lots of illiquid assets — houses, cars and boats — but only has $250 in his checking account. Do we consider him poor? Reserves are analogous to ready cash; resources are akin to total assets. Our example millionaire is cash poor by his choice; the U.S is relatively reserve-poor because we, as a nation, have decided not to fully exploit our resources.

    Another factor — U.S. public companies must report their estimates of reserves to shareholders and to the Securities Exchange Commission. Almost all companies undergo a thorough audit of their estimates by third party engineers at least once a year. These reserve estimates tend to be conservative in nature as the companies prefer to avoid the bad press associated with reserve writedowns.

    So we have a fraction with a numerator that is skewed to the small side — for several reasons.

    The Denominator – Global Reserves
    Here, the concept is the same, but the effect is different.

    Some 70% to 80% of Global Reserves are owned by NOCs — state owned National Oil Companies (see table below). The regimes that control these reserves have zero transparency in reporting. They have an incentive to lie aggressively represent the reserves they own. Most of them use the cash from oil to support their populations with generous welfare, subsidies and social programs. Bigger reserves mean that they’re more stable internally and more powerful geopolitically.

    So we have a fraction with a denominator that is probably an artificially large number — for several reasons.

    And, dividing a small numerator by a large denominator gives a tiny fraction. So tiny that it implies that the country’s domestic energy situation is hopeless; furthermore, we cannot reasonably expect it to be otherwise.

    It’s a giant lie.

  53. Elsewhere I saw a link to a diary at Kos abouat the health care debate so I looked at it. Wow. Didn’t see ANY of them defending Obama. Some of them were even dissing ‘bots.’

  54. Puma-SF, if we recall correctly, that line “We’ve shed so many tears our ShamWow towels have lost absorbency” was not sad but in jest. If we recall correctly, the context referred to tears of laughter. But we could be wrong. There certainly are enough reasons to shed real tears, not tears of joy, tears of laughter, or crocodile tears.

    BTW, the ShamWow is still soaked. 🙂

    The group of 20, all Republicans, today called for a hearing in a letter to Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin, D-Mich., and the committee’s top Republican Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

    The text of the letter states:

    It has been reported that the Obama Administration threatened the closure of a U.S. military installation for political purposes, thereby bringing into question the integrity of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process. The BRAC process was established to remove political influence so that the decision to close or not to close a military installation could be based upon military utility.

    Specifically, various media reports have stated that the Obama Administration would put Offutt AFB in southeastern Nebraska on a future BRAC list because of a vote on healthcare reform. While we recognize the importance of Offutt AFB as the headquarters of U.S. Strategic Command and the approximately 10,000 individuals that work there, we feel that this installation should remain open or be closed on its own merits.

    Therefore, we respectfully ask that a hearing be held as to whether the BRAC process has been compromised. We do not want to see the name of a base from our state on a BRAC list and think it has been put there to settle partisan scores. We also do not want our bases to be more vulnerable to closure because political arm-twisting has taken another installation off the table. National security not partisanship should determine how BRAC decisions are made.

  60. Lord Monckton reports on Pachauri’s (IPCC Chairman) eye opening Copenhagen presentation
    12-17-2009

    From The Viscount Monckton of Brenchley in Copenhagen

    In the Grand Ceremonial Hall of the University of Copenhagen, a splendid Nordic classical space overlooking the Church of our Lady in the heart of the old city, rows of repellent, blue plastic chairs surrounded the podium from which no less a personage than Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the IPCC, was to speak.

    I had arrived in good time to take my seat among the dignitaries in the front row. Rapidly, the room filled with enthusiastic Greenies and enviro-zombs waiting to hear the latest from ye Holy Bookes of Ipecac, yea verily.

    The official party shambled in and perched on the blue plastic chairs next to me. Pachauri was just a couple of seats away, so I gave him a letter from me and Senator Fielding of Australia, pointing out that the headline graph in the IPCC’s 2007 report, purporting to show that the rate of warming over the past 150 years had itself accelerated, was fraudulent.

    Would he use the bogus graph in his lecture? I had seen him do so when he received an honorary doctorate from the University of New South Wales. I watched and waited.

    Sure enough, he used the bogus graph. I decided to wait until he had finished, and ask a question then.

    Pachauri then produced the now wearisome list of lies, fibs, fabrications and exaggerations that comprise the entire case for alarm about “global warming”. He delivered it in a tired, unenthusiastic voice, knowing that a growing majority of the world’s peoples – particularly in those countries where comment is free – no longer believe a word the IPCC says.

    They are right not to believe. Science is not a belief system. But here is what Pachauri invited the audience in Copenhagen to believe.

    1. Pachauri asked us to believe that the IPCC’s documents were “peer-reviewed”. Then he revealed the truth by saying that it was the authors of the IPCC’s climate assessments who decided whether the reviewers’ comments were acceptable. That – whatever else it is – is not peer review.

    2. Pachauri said that greenhouse gases had increased by 70% between 1970 and 2004. This figure was simply nonsense. I have seen this technique used time and again by climate liars. They insert an outrageous statement early in their presentations, see whether anyone reacts and, if no one reacts, they know they will get away with the rest of the lies. I did my best not to react. I wanted to hear, and write down, the rest of the lies.

    3. Next came the bogus graph, which is featured three times, large and in full color, in the IPCC’s 2007 climate assessment report. The graph is bogus not only because it relies on the made-up data from the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia but also because it is overlain by four separate trend-lines, each with a start-date carefully selected to give the entirely false impression that the rate of warming over the past 150 years has itself been accelerating, especially between 1975 and 1998. The truth, however – neatly obscured by an ingenious rescaling of the graph and the superimposition of the four bogus trend lines on it – is that from 1860-1880 and again from 1910-1940 the warming rate was exactly the same as the warming rate from 1975-1998.

    4. Pachauri said that there had been an “acceleration” in sea-level rise from 1993. He did not say, however, that in 1993 the method of measuring sea-level rise had switched from tide-gages to satellite altimetry against a reference geoid. The apparent increase in the rate of sea-level rise is purely an artefact of this change in the method of measurement.

    5. Pachauri said that Arctic temperatures would rise twice as fast as global temperatures over the next 100 years. However, he failed to point out that the Arctic was actually 1-2 Celsius degrees warmer than the present in the 1930s and early 1940s. It has become substantially cooler than it was then.

    6. Pachauri said the frequency of heavy rainfall had increased. The evidence for this proposition is largely anecdotal. Since there has been no statistically-significant “global warming” for 15 years, there is no reason to suppose that any increased rainfall in recent years is attributable to “global warming”.

    7. Pachauri said that the proportion of tropical cyclones that are high-intensity storms has increased in the past three decades. However, he was very careful not to point out that the total number of intense tropical cyclones has actually fallen sharply throughout the period.

    8. Pachauri said that the activity of intense Atlantic hurricanes had increased since 1970. This is simply not true, but it appears to be true if – as one very bad scientific paper in 2006 did – one takes the data back only as far as that year. Take the data over the whole century, as one should, and no trend whatsoever is evident. Here, Pachauri is again using the same statistical dodge he used with the UN’s bogus “warming-is-getting-worse” graph: he is choosing a short run of data and picking his start-date with care so as falsely to show a trend that, over a longer period, is not significant.

    9. Pachauri said small islands like the Maldives were vulnerable to sea-level rise. Not if they’re made of coral, which is more than capable of outgrowing any sea-level rise. Besides, as Professor Morner has established, sea level in the Maldives is no higher now than it was 1250 years ago, and has not risen for half a century.

    10. Pachauri said that if the ice-sheets of Greenland or West Antarctica were to melt there would be “meters of sea-level rise”. Yes, but his own climate panel has said that that could not happen for thousands of years, and only then if global mean surface temperatures stayed at least 2 C (3.5 F) warmer than today’s.

    11. Pachauri said that if temperatures rose 2 C (3.5 F) 20-30% of all species would become extinct. This, too, is simply nonsense. For most of the past 600 million years, global temperatures have been 7 C (13.5 F) warmer than today, and yet here we all are. One has only to look at the number of species living in the tropics and the number living at the Poles to work out that warmer weather will if anything increase the number and diversity of species on the planet. There is no scientific basis whatsoever for Pachauri’s assertion about mass extinctions. It is simply made up.

    12. Pachauri said that “global warming” would mean “lower quantities of water”. Not so. It would mean larger quantities of water vapor in the atmosphere, hence more rain. This is long-settled science – but, then, Pachauri is a railroad engineer.

    13. Pachauri said that by 2100 100 million people would be displaced by rising sea levels. Now, where did we hear that figure before? Ah, yes, from the ludicrous Al Gore and his sidekick Bob Corell. There is no truth in it at all. Pachauri said he was presenting the results of the IPCC’s fourth assessment report. It is quite plain: the maximum possible rate of sea-level rise is put at just 2 ft, with a best estimate of 1 ft 5 in. Sea level is actually rising at around 1 ft/century. That is all.

    14. Pachauri said that he had seen for himself the damage done in Bangladesh by sea-level rise. Just one problem with that. There has been no sea-level rise in Bangladesh. At all. In fact, according to Professor Moerner, who visited it recently and was the only scientist on the trip to calibrate his GPS altimeter properly by taking readings at two elevations at least 10 meters apart, sea level in Bangladesh has actually fallen a little, which is why satellite images show 70,000 sq. km more land area there than 30 years ago. Pachauri may well have seen some coastal erosion: but that was caused by the imprudent removal of nine-tenths of the mangroves in the Sunderban archipelago to make way for shrimp-farms.

    15. Pachauri said we could not afford to delay reducing carbon emissions even by a year, or disaster would result. So here’s the math. There are 388 ppmv of CO2 in the air today, rising at 2 ppmv/year over the past decade. So an extra year with no action at all would warm the world by just 4.7 ln(390/388) = 0.024 C, or less than a twentieth of a Fahrenheit degree. And only that much on the assumption that the UN’s sixfold exaggeration of CO2’s true warming potential is accurate, which it is not. Either way, we can afford to wait a couple of decades to see whether anything like the rate of warming predicted by the UN’s climate panel actually occurs.

    16. Pachauri said that the cost of mitigating carbon emissions would be less than 3% of gross domestic product by 2030. The only economist who thinks that is Lord Stern, whose laughable report on the economics of climate change, produced for the British Government, used a near-zero discount rate so as artificially to depress the true cost of trying to mitigate “global warming”. To reduce “global warming” to nothing, one must close down the entire global economy. Any lesser reduction is a simple fraction of the entire economy. So cutting back, say, 50% of carbon emissions by 2030, which is what various extremist groups here are advocating, would cost around 50% of GDP, not 3%.

    17. Pachauri said that solar and wind power provided more jobs per $1 million invested than coal. Maybe they do, but that is a measure of their relative inefficiency. The correct policy would be to raise the standard of living of the poorest by letting them burn as much fossil fuels as they need to lift them from poverty. Anything else is organized cruelty.

    18. Pachauri said we could all demonstrate our commitment to Saving The Planet by eating less meat. The Catholic Church has long extolled the virtues of mortification of the flesh: we generally ate fish on Fridays in the UK, until the European Common Fisheries Policy meant there were no more fish. But the notion that going vegan will make any measurable impact on global temperatures is simply fatuous.

    It is time for Railroad Engineer Pachauri to get back to his signal-box. About the climate, as they say in New York’s Jewish quarter, he knows from nothing.

  61. From the European Times – Squat tells Canadian-US military to prepare for rebellion

    Kremlin position papers presented to Prime Minister Putin today on his upcoming meeting with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen state that the European-US military alliance has authorized an ‘emergency request’ from President Obama to utilize American and Canadian NATO troops to put down what is expected to be a “rebellion” after the expected January, 2010 ‘declaration of bankruptcy’ by the State of California.

    According to these reports, Obama’s fears of rebellion are due to the economic health of California (the United States largest State) after the 3rd largest US State, New York, declared a ‘fiscal emergency’ and refused to release to its cities and towns over $750 Million due them this past week with the Governor of New York, David Paterson, declaring “I can’t say this enough: The state has run out of money.”

    New York’s fiscal crisis, however, pales in comparison to California’s, where new economic data points to its expected 5-year budget deficit reaching the staggering amount of over $100 Billion which Russian economists warn will result in budget cuts so steep as to create ‘social chaos’ among this States 36 million citizens.

    Reports from the United States are, indeed, confirming the mass movement of military supplies and thousands of Canadian Special Forces Troops to California from the Canadian Forces Base of Petawawa to join their American military counterparts, with ‘secondary’ reports stating that at least 1,000 tanks are massing their too.

    Russian Military Analysts are further warning in this report that Obama has decided to implement the feared RAND Corporation (one of the most powerful research arms of the US Military-Industrial-Homeland Security Complex) police state ‘blueprint’ tilted “Stability Police Force for the United States: Justification and Creating U.S. Capabilities” that has been modeled on the Nazi German secret police forces organization Geheime Staatspolizei (Gestapo) meant to ‘control and demoralize’ any op

  62. Headline is misleading. It was the U.K.’s Brown who first suggested a global money fund.

    ————————-

    Copenhagen climate conference: Hillary Clinton attempts to break deadlock with $100bn offer
    Hillary Clinton has attempted to break the deadlock at the Copenhagen climate conference by offering a huge amount of money from the United States to help poor nations deal with global warming.

    By Louise Gray and Rowena Mason
    17 Dec 2009

    The US Secretary of State said the danger of climate change is now “undeniable” and the world must agree a deal in the next 48 hours.

    In a move that will widely be seen as grand gesture to force developing countries to sign up to a deal, she said the US would be willing to pay into a global fund of $100 billion per annum by 2020 to help the “most vulnerable” adapt to floods and droughts. But she said the money would only be offered on the condition that major developing nations such as China and India agree to “transparent” actions on cutting emission.

    “In the context of a strong accord in which all major economies stand behind meaningful mitigation actions and provide full transparency as to their implementation, the US is prepared to work with other countries towards a goal of jointly mobilising $100 billion a year by 2020 to address the climate change needs of developing countries,” she said.

    The $100 billion (£60bn) fund was first suggested by Gordon Brown in June last year and America’s offer will boost the UK Prime Minister’s credentials abroad.

    Mrs Clinton’s swept into the conference just as talks are stalling with Ed Miliband, the UK Energy and Climate Change Secretary, warning the whole thing is in danger of becoming a “farce”. “We come to Copenhagen ready to take the steps necessary to achieve a comprehensive and operational new agreement that will provide a foundation for long term sustainable economic growth,” she said.

    “We have now reached a critical juncture in these negotiations. I understand that the talks have been difficult. I know that our team along with many others are working hard and around the clock to forge a deal and we will continue to do all we can do. But the time is at hand for all countries to reach for common ground and take a historic step that we can all be proud of.”

    Mrs Clinton said any deal will have to include “active national actions” to cut carbon emissions, transparency on those actions and money to help poor countries also cut carbon emissions. She made clear that the US will not increase its target to cut carbon emissions by 17 per cent on 2005 levels by 2020.

    But it would be willing to help the poor world cut greenhouse gases by providing short term funding immediately of around $10bn (£6bn) per annum by 2012 and $100 (£60bn) by 2020. However, this money will only be put forward if large developing countries like China and India are willing to take “transparent” action on cutting their carbon emissions. At the moment China is willing to cut its carbon output by around 40 per cent against “business as usual” but is resisting attempts to have these actions measured by the outside world.

    Mrs Clinton said a lack of transparency will be a “deal breaker”. “There shall be a transparency requirement,” she said. “How it is defined and implemented is something we leave up to negotiators.”

    Mrs Clinton was also unclear about how much money the US will pay towards the fund or how the money will be raised. However it is expected the US will be a major contributor. Mr Brown has signalled the UK would be willing to put up to £1bn per annum towards the fund.

    The money could be raised through public as well as private finance such as a tax on polluting factories, aviation or shipping. It would be spent on protecting the rainforests, helping poor countries to switch from fossil fuels to green energy like wind and adaptation measures such as flood defence.

    Despite scepticism in the States about the science of global warming, following the ‘climategate’ scandal, Mrs Clinton said climate change is now the greatest threat to global security. “This is one of the most urgent global challenges of our time and demands a global solution,” she said. “It threatens not only our environment but our economy and security. This is an undeniable and unforgivable fact.”

    The UN Climate Change Conference is expected to be one of the biggest gathering of world leaders in history, with more than 120 leaders expected.

    Mrs Clinton insisted President Obama will be arriving on Friday, despite rumours he may not be coming. “The President is planning to come tomorrow,” she said. “We hope there is something to come for.”

    Yvo de Boer, UN head of the climate talks, welcomed the intervention by the Americans. “It’s good that there has now been a statement of support for a clear number on long-term finance. It’s good that we’re now talking about $100bn annually for 2020. The secretary said it would be coming from a variety of sources. I’m looking keenly forward to see what the US contribution to that sum is going to be,” he said.

    The conference is now eagerly awaiting the reaction of the Chinese and other countries to see if Mrs Clinton’s intervention really is a “game changer”.

    The developing countries have previously asked for $400bn per annum to help deal with climate change. However David Waskow, spokesperson for Oxfam International was “heartened” by the announcement. “It is absolutely crucial that this funding come from public sources in developed countries and be additional to current development assistance commitments. Private financing is no substitute for public investment in the resilience of the poorest and most vulnerable communities,” he said.

    “If such public financing is put on the table, it could truly move us closer to a global deal on climate change.”

  63. Here’s a stunner on several levels:
    Pelosi: Obama must make his case on Afghanistan
    …Pelosi, a California Democrat and a member of her party’s liberal wing, says that when the House votes next year on an expected request for extra funding for the troop surge, she’ll be advising members to vote according to their consciences and their constituencies….

    ————————————-
    Holdthemaccountable: it seems that Marie Antoinette can see the rabble of Paris gathering outside the Tulleries and knows that the devils tooth is about to do its appointed work. Ergo, she is folding like a cheap watch. After what she has done to doom the future of millions of Americans this is hardly surprising. Ten years from now she and her husband will be living the high life, or not. They are plutocrats, and therefore they are insulated from the consequences of the destruction she and her colleagues have wrought. She is no leader and never has been. She is a stupid megalomaniac bureaucrat, and that is where it starts stops and ends.

    In her rise to power she sucked up to a man named Jimmy Herman who was head of the International Longshoremen’s Union on the West Coast. For those of you like PUMA SF, and Debbie, he was the successor to Harry Bridges. A friend of mine was a management labor executive and he went to lunch with the two of them on several occasions. Then as now he found her incompetent, unctuous, and rather disgusting. Fate and seniority have thrust this incompetent public official into a position where she can do grave harm to the country and she has risen to that challenge.

    And now as she confronts the rising anger she is fleeing from any pretense of leadership. She is refusing to take action on any controversial legislation unless the Senate acts first, since her entire body is up for reelection next year, whereas only one third of the Senate is responsible for the consequences of their actions. Now we have this don’t support the troops vote your conscience miasma–because it is more important that we survive politically than that they survive on the battlefield. That is the subtext what she is saying.

    The devils tooth is waiting for Pelosi and her benighted corrupt let the American People eat cake colleagues eat cake at the ballot box. What you are seeing is the negation of leadership and the slow death of the party. Any organization can die at the hands of incompetent leaders. I have seen it happen in the business world. It is a law of nature. The question is can it find a way to renew itself after it has failed in its essential mission. Time will tell.

  64. Are Hillary Clinton supporters murmuring I told you so?

    December 17,2009

    With a new NBC/Wall Street journal poll showing Obama hitting his lowest rating in that poll, and the poll showing that people are getting fed up with Obama, the Democrats and how both have handled health care, ( how they handled it, not rejecting things like the public option) those who supported Hillary Clinton for president in the Democratic primaries are starting to say “I told you so”.

    Obama’s had the biggest approval ratings drop of any first year president in history. He has disappointed most of his supporters on the left. And he has accomplished little to nothing in his first year that has showed any concrete results in spite of him giving himself a B+.

    What he has done is make more speeches and had more prime time press conferences in his first year than any president has had in their first term.

    On healthcare reform most of his supportes are complaining that he sold out and was two faced in his capitulation. Which he was. But these are traits he exhibited not only during his entire 12 years of elected office, but were on glaring display during the Democratic primaries.

    Now everyone is angry with him for showing a lack of principle, commitment, experience and expertise and a willingness to sacrifice a principle on a dime but that’s who Obama has always been and he showed it repeatedly during the primaries, whether he was willing to sell out the voters of Florida and Michigan to help himself get elected, or reversing himself on a pledge to use public financing.

    Now as Obama’s approval ratings continue to hit record lows for a first term president, and he is bringing the Democratic party down with him, as people are getting fed up with his handling of a propositon — the public option and health care reform — that 72% supported back in June, many Hillary Clinton supporters are starting to say “we told you so”.

    More and more of Obama’s staunchest supporters, the same people who turned a blind eye to Obama’s deep character flaws, lack of experience, and brazen political dishonesty, and deceit, are now complaining that he’s not what they thought he was, that this isnt change they can believe in. But it never was in the first place. It was clear to anyone who paid attention that was nothing but a slogan.

    Ed Schultz, Arianna Huffington, the people at The Nation, Matt Taibbi at Rolling Stone, are just a few of Obama flag wavers now wavering in their support and scratching their heads saying “what happened”?

    The answer is nothing happened. Obama is just being the same Obama he always was, the same Obama that was apparent during the Democratic primaries, the same Obama that a 18 months ago after listening to a couple of speeches, write that he was a snake oil salesman and the most underhanded, deceitful politician since Richard Nixon. But the press. who was in Obama’s pocket, refused to see it.

    For those who saw through the phoniness, Obama has been exactly what the majority of Democratic primary voters thought he was. Remember that Hillary Clinton actually received more votes than he did and went into the Democratic convention having won the popular vote.

    During the primaries Clinton supporters mocked Obama supporters and their beliefs as people who were “drinking the Kool-Aid”. Obama supporters accused Clinton supporters, and anyone who opposed Obama’s candidacy of being racist. This, from the candidate who ran on the fiction that he had the ability to unite people and bring people together. He ran on the fiction that he had some great ability to unite Democrats and Republicans. Which is why every Republican is voting against the health care bill and hasnt been able to unite any disparate group on anything.

    In a recent article in Rolling Stone, Matt Taibbi writes, “Obama pulled a bait-and-switch on us. If it were any other politician, we wouldn’t be surprised. Maybe it’s our fault, for thinking he was different.”

    Yes it was your fault for not seeing what was right in front of everyone’s face, and the fact that he pulled a bait and switch shouldnt leave anyone surprised. That was the snake oil Obama was selling during the primaries and a lot of people bought and are now finding out it was all just sugar water.

    It was clear during the primaries when Obama constantly reneged on promises and pledges and resorted to serial lying both when it came to Jeremiah Wright, and the incident in Ohio when a document was leaked that caught Obama red handed lying to the people of Ohio about his position on NAFTA. But at the time the same people who are complaining now about Obama betraying them didn’t care.

    The fact that Obama was clearly the least qualified candidate running for the Democratic nomination, didnt seem to matter to his supporters. And while he claimed he was the person who knew how to bring people together the Democratic presidential primaries were the most divisive in the history of the party. He campaigned saying “voices must be heard” but he did everything in is power to keep the voices of voters in Florida and Michigan from being heard because he was landslided there by Clinton. Instead of fighting for their right to vote and be heard, he silenced them in favor of his own ambitions. So why are people surprised now, feeling he sold them out on healthcare reform?

    The other big issue that seemed to matter to Obama’s supporters was that he was black. So they took everything Martin Luther King stood for and threw out the window, which was that a person should be judged on the content of their character and not the color of their skin and decided the color of his skin mattered more.

    But while this will come as a shock to them, Obama is not the first black president. He is the first mixed race president, half black and half white. He is no more the country’s first black president than Derek Jeter was the Yankees first black shortstop. In all of Jeter’s hall of fame career no one ever referred to him that way. But his genetic make up is the same as Obama’s. The difference is the random shuffling of genetic material which resulted in Jeter having more Caucasian features and a caramel complexion while Obama’s features and complexion were more black. Maybe now that they feel betrayed by Obama,those who supported him because they wanted a black president will admit Martin Luther King was right the first time.

    During the primaries,Obama’s selling out his promises were rampant. He promised to use public financing if he was the nominee then reneged as soon as became the nominee. He promised to filibuster and vote against the FISA bill if it gave telecoms retroactive immunity then reneged and voted for it. And lied, until he couldn’t lie any longer about his relationship with Jeremiah Wright and on sending on his economic advisors to the Canadian embassy to tell them to ignore everything he was saying publicly about NAFTA in Ohio, it was just politics.

    This is the person that liberals and Democrats who supported him are now surprised has sold them out when it was apparent that Obama was probably the most underhanded politician since Richard Nixon. The difference between the two is that Nixon used deceit to get even. Obama used it to get ahead.

    So you can excuse Hillary Clinton supporters if they are now saying ” We told you so”. Because they did.

  65. admin: This post made me feel worthwhile. Thank you.
    wbboei: I appreciate your assessment of Pelosi.

  66. From The Confluence – Thanks to Hillary4texas for the link.

    Great reading over there!

    All over the lefty radio shows it was a bloodbath and people are turning on Obama big time. On Lynn Samuels, she’s been pro-Hillary, anti-Obama the whole time and people previously called in and called her a republican ratfucker, bitch, and raycist (on uncensored Sirius radio, anything goes). Today, several callers — many AA’s — called to APOLOGIZE and say she was right. I was stunned.

    On Thom Hartman someone called in to blast him for his continual trashing of Bill Clinton and said that him and his CDS against Bill and Hillary are the main reason why we’re not going to get real HC reform. They reminded him how he trashed Hillary and pushed Obama on us and now this is what we’re stuck with because of people like him. Thom was speechless.

  67. We cannot engage in unilateral disarmament. If we hamstring our economy and industry with carbon emissions standards plus this cap and trade nonsense then we have doomed our future unless China makes concessions and those concessions are similar in terms of quantifiable impact. The $100 billion is one thing. The limitations will cost trillions. I myself would be reluctant to proceed until the science is clear, whereas now it is muddled and there is evidence of fraud and overreaching. Unfortunately, there is a political imperative at work here which is moving this thing forward to what I fear is a bad end. Yes, transparency is essential, and China is feels that the inspections it would entail are a violation of sovereignty. Unlike Obama China is unwilling to relinquish its sovereignty and place its future in the hands of a bevy of Platonic Guardians. His bots can break out in chants he is the one we have been waiting for, big media can give him a guiness book blow job for the entire world to see, but Chinas answer is likely to be we will will do our part and plant a billion trees. Then they will turn to the ridiculous and incompetent Obama and say climb down from you high horse, put away your teleprompter we want to talk to you about what you owe us and how it will be repayed. We want your land. And what will Bambi say? That is a matter for Congress? That is a matter for the American People? No. Of course not. He will tell them in confidence what he has told members of his campaign staff namely: “I can make them believe anything I want them to believe”. That is a direct quote.

    I don’t understand the dem support for Obama at 93%. Are there so few dems (or former dems) like me who don’t support O?

  69. Yes, I know it is crude, and I apologize for that. But that is what we have to start calling these big media types who worship Obama. The polite word is puff pieces, or admirers. The proper word for them is blow jobs. As for Ed Schultz, he would vote for Obama again after seeing him betray ever liberal principle. Einstein called that the definition of insanity–doing the same thing over and over again under the same conditions expecting a different result. The tip off perhaps is the fact that his wife is a psychiatric nurse.

  70. I don’t understand the dem support for Obama at 93%.
    ————————————————–
    I think that is wrong. The 93% is the support level with African Americans. Not democrats as a whole.

  71. OBAMA’S LEGACY–IRREPARABLE HARM (Red State Blog)

    The trillion dollar President, and his push to spend $2.5 Trillion more on health care, even as the Fed prints a trillion dollars a year to pay our bills, has irreparably harmed the United States.

    His reckless disregard for the rules of international finance has done one thing: made everyone in the world with a shot at creating the planet’s dominant currency want to print money too! (It is easier to pay your bills, if you just the print money to do it.)

    The Chinese, the Russians, the Brazilians and now the Arab world — all have made a run at our weakening global currency and our weakening economic position.

    The reason for our existing and continuing weakness is simple: Obama keeps spending and spending, and he can not or will not stop.

    So, is it any surprise that the Arab nations are banding together to create their own currency. (Then they can print a trillion dollars a year too. BIG FUN.)

    In the words of one banker:

    “The US dollar has failed. We need to delink,” said Nahed Taher, chief executive of Bahrain’s Gulf One Investment Bank.

    The scary thing is that our trillion dollar President has no clue as the damage he has done, is doing, and will continue to do — but he sure does spend a whole lot, and play a ton of golf. And you know it really is bad when the Washington Post editorial board (H/T redneck_hippie) pens a piece titled, “The Coming Debt Panic.”

  73. This could be the most important post you read today posted up thread thanks to Basil:

    From the European Times – Obama tells Canadian-US military to prepare for rebellion

Capabilities” that has been modeled on the Nazi German secret police forces organization Geheime Staatspolizei (Gestapo) meant to ‘control and demoralize’ any opposition to the state.

    Even worse for these American people is the legalization process currently embedded in their new health care legislation which will see everyone of them becoming virtual slaves of their government, and as warned about by the Fox News Service in their report titled “Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid of Obama’s Latest Big Brother Plan” and which says:

    “Under the Democrats’ national health care scheme not only would OPM be charged with overseeing and administering federal employees health care but they will have the added charge of administering civilian federal health care as well. What does that mean? Basically, that Americans will be treated as “civil servants.” Are you starting to see the danger?

    The more government seeks to control our lives the more Orwellian it gets. This “big brother” mentality that “government knows best” and that it is their mission to provide cradle to grave “care” of its citizens will doom America as we know it. Under such a system the individual becomes meaningless and the state becomes the entity upon which we are all forced to rely.”

    Unfortunately, with or without these Americans succumbing to the loss of their Nation through the establishment of a police state, their fate appears to have already been sealed as new reports are showing that by their continued saying they are failing to provide China with the money needed through the buying of goods to purchase US bonds to keep them afloat, and which has led to the incredible circumstance of the United States, through its Federal Reserve and other financial entities, becoming the largest buyers of their own debt.

    Not being seen in all of these dire events by the American people is that their present collapse as an independent Nation was engineered by their own President Obama, who working in concert with the previous President, George Bush, sold them out to Wall Street by packing his administration with banking insiders have, literally, pillaged the entire economic future of the United States for the benefit of their elite classes and, incredibly, supported these once collapsing banks with over $352 Billion in drug money.

    And so grave has it become for ordinary Americans that new reports are now showing that in what was once the most powerful Nation on Earth, there now exists an ‘epidemic’ of child hunger and one their fastest growing cities is a tent-town of newly homeless named “Obamaville” in a stark reminder of the thousands of shanty towns named Hoovervilles built during the Great Depression.

    For those American people believing their propaganda media reports that a recovery is underway they couldn’t be more mistaken, as newly released data shows that of the millions of jobs lost these past 2 years almost all of them are permanent. And, as always, these people are being kept from knowing the full and brutal truth of their economic collapse with reports also showing that the latest unemployment figures released by the US government were faked.

    But to the greatest fears of these Americans should be the newly released information showing that US scientists have perfected, for the first time in history, a new drugless technique to wipe from these people’s minds their very own memories, and as we can read:

    “In a scientific experiment that brings to mind the memory-erasing escapade in the 2004 film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” scientists have blocked fearful recollections in human participants, sans drugs. The results challenge the view that our long-term memories are fixed and resistant to change.”

    Russian Military Psychologists have long warned that the West’s longest term plan to control their soon to be rebellious populations lie in memory altering techniques such as are being perfected in the United States and due to be deployed through their mass media in radio programs, television, and movie broadcasts outlets as these Nations past reliance on the drugging of their citizens through mass fluoridation is becoming more and more ineffectual.

    Important to note too is that the economic collapse of the United States is just one of the catastrophic dangers they are facing, as this past week the giant plant genetics company Bayer admitted in a US Federal Court that it has been “unable to control the spread of its genetically-engineered organisms despite ‘the best practices’ to stop widespread contamination” and which may very well see the destruction of the American’s ability to feed themselves as these ‘monster plants’ reap their destruction on Nature.

    To all of these events, it is not in our knowing if the American people will awaken from their self induced slumber to arise, as they have many times throughout their history, to reclaim for themselves what is now rapidly being stolen from them. But, and if their present actions are a predictor to what they may do in the future, one can only fear for them as they are marched in lockstep towards an abyss they only fail to see because they won’t open their eyes.

    Peggy Noonan on Morning Joe just began the primary reassessment. She asked Ed Shultz if the primary was rerun would he vote for Hillary or Obama? Mr. Ed said he would stick by Obama but the question is now in circulation.

    Admin,

    The very fact that the media is starting to ask this question is huge.

    Admin,

    The very fact that the media is starting to ask this question is huge.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In a hypothetical twist. If as is written in the above post a revolution is in the works it could be, a military take-over is in the offing for the distinct purpose of removing Obama from office.
    Encouraging mental images of Obama and his Chief of Staff, Rahm Emmanuel handcuffed, hands behind their backs, frog-marched down the front steps of the White House. A glorious sight to imagine and behold!
  76. If you sit on a board of directors, and the ceo of your company is behaving irrationally do you ignore it and do you take cognizance of the problem, and if necessary pull him out of service. Thirty years ago, it was possible to turn the other cheek but today it is not. Ceremonial boards are a thing of the past. The law imposes directors and officers liability, which you can insure against up to a point.
    A nation is different form a country in many respects. By there are also analogies. If you subscribe to the Jeffersonian view which was the Locke view that the people are sovereign then the public is like the shareholders. They exercise their power through the vote. The board of directors are like the 200 families who control this country and decide who the candidates will be–by who gets the money.
    When Mr. Obama tells the supercilious Charlie Look At Me I Went To Princeton Gibson that if my health care plan does not pass the United States will grow bankrupt, when there is an international skepticism about the United States economy and a possible run on the dollar it is the mark of an unstable mind to say something like that. It is the practical equivalent of yelling fire in a crowded theater.
    If it does not give the 200 families cause for concern, then I would be surprised.
  77. Obama’s goal: Mass amnesty for illegal immigrants
    An immigration reform organization says the Obama administration has done virtually nothing to stem the tide of illegal immigration since taking office in January.
    Illegal aliens climbing fences.
    As President Barack Obama approaches the one-year mark of his presidency, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) has released a comprehensive report evaluating what the administration has actually done in its claim to have “restored credibility to immigration enforcement.”
    FAIR spokesman Ira Mehlman says if anything, there is less credibility now when it comes to immigration reform. “Not only haven’t they done anything, but in fact they have undermined the capacity of this country to enforce its immigration laws,” he laments.
    “Since taking office they have gutted the worksite enforcement efforts that were begun belatedly under the Bush administration and were actually quite effective in controlling illegal immigration,” says Mehlman. “They have reined in local police cooperation by redefining the 287(g) agreement that allowed local police departments to enforce immigration laws.
    Ira Mehlman: “Every step of the way they have done their level best to undermine the capacity of this country to enforce its immigration laws,” he concludes.
    In addition, the FAIR report — titled “The Road to Amnesty” — criticizes the White House for refusing to back a permanent extension to the E-Verify protections for American workers; and for undermining the REAL ID Act, which it argues would make Americans’ ID documents more secure. All told, according to FAIR president Dan Stein, the administration has “consistently placed the interests of illegal aliens and their advocates ahead of those of the American people.”
    As for the future, Mehlman is skeptical that President Obama is going to hear the will of the American people and reverse his pro-amnesty agenda in 2010.
  79. As these events are unfolding without the prospect of resolution… ie- Health Care Reform, ClimateGate, the Economy and Immigration Reform. The erstwhile words uttered by the hypocritical president during the election campaign. Each and every issue he promised the voters he would remedy or change has been turned 190 degrees on it’s head.
    The dynamic we are witnessing in full force and expanding is starting to remind me more and more of the climatic events of “chaos” written in the book of Revelations.
  80. The desperate and naive people in this country need to recognize what a leader sounds like if they are to have any hope of salvation. If you compare the egotistical hyperbole and ultimatum style of Obama as manifest in his interviews with frat boy charlie and oprah the blimp to the measured intelligent teleprompterless problem solving tone of Hillary as manifested in the video Jan posted above then the difference becomes clear. The American People are hooked on the Idol culture to appreciate what a true leader looks like. And big media and the big blogs have done everything they can to hide the truth from them. The greatest enemy of the American People is big media. They do not give the American People the information they need to make intelligent collective decisions. Had they done so, we would be on the road to recovery under Hillary, rather than teetering on the edge of disaster under the uber incompetent Barack Obama.
  81. SEIU POUNDING HEALTH CARE PLAN AFTER WHITE HOUSE THROWS THEM UNDER THE BUS (RED STATE)
    “I believe this is the moment when we must stand as one and say enough,” Service Employees International Union President Andy Stern wrote in a letter to his fellow members.
    While he stopped short of formally opposing the bill that is making its way through the Senate, he did express outrage over the concessions made to Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.). “The public option is declared impossible. Americans cannot purchase Medicare at an earlier age. The health insurance reform effort we have needed for a century is at risk,” Stern wrote.
    And in a significant change of tone, Stern — who has visited the White House more than any other labor official — called out President Barack Obama for moving away from the promises of his campaign.
    President Obama must remember his own words from the campaign. His call of “Yes We Can” was not just to us, not just to the millions of people who voted for him, but to himself. We all stood shoulder to shoulder with the President during his hard fought campaign. And, we will continue to stand with him but he must fight for the reform we all know is possible.
    Our challenge to you, to the President, to the Senate and to the House of Representatives is to fight. Now, more than ever, all of us must stand up, remember what health insurance reform is all about, and fight like hell to deliver real and meaningful reform to the American people.
    FireDogLake weighed in with a policy defense of SEIU, and an attack on ObamaCare in the Senate:
    “Health reform is starting to look like a way to make coverage attractive to those least likely to use it, while making those most likely to use insurance – such as older customers, who would have to pay rates four times what the young pay, with no sense of where that age-banding begins; or those with pre-existing conditions, who would get charged 50% more – unable to afford it. As Jon Walker put it, “This sounds like a recipe to price out the old (nonprofitable) and force only the young (profitable) to buy insurance.”
    The Huffington Post then suggests the White House is playing hard ball, right back at the SEIU:
    “Union officials, while privately angry with the White House and Democrats in Congress, still need the support of these lawmakers on other legislative priorities. Meanwhile, having poured millions into advertisement and man-hours in order to get health care passed, they have watched in horror as the principles they worked for were abandoned in a matter of days.”
    After spending millions to back ObamaCare and being run over by the bus in public, is it any wonder the SEIU is hot? FireDogLake also pounds the White House for their tax on union health plans:
    “On the excise tax, this is obviously a key concern for unions, and the best practice would be to enact a carve-out for those who arrived at their health benefits through collective bargaining. The White House is trying to defend the excise tax by saying that it only impacts 3% of all health plans, but with health inflation not expected to end with this bill (perhaps slow down if everything goes well), that 3% number will grow. The CBO score tells you the number will grow. That’s why reformers like it, because it raises more revenue than health inflation!”
    Perhaps the Unions are finding out a great truth about the Trillion dollar President, it’s all about him — always. He betrayed the Unions because he thought he needed to, to win. The President threw SEIU under the bus — for his Presidency.
  82. I think it was Lincoln who said if you want to know who a man really is then give him power and you will find out. That is universally true, and it is the final verdict on Mr. Obama. There is another maxim of equal validity. Great leaders prove their mettle in a crisis. That is our girl Hillary. The gravitas she projects when dealing with sober issues which was mocked by big media is exactly what we need right now. As for Obama, he is lost at sea in a crisis. His only thoughts are where is my speechwriter, my teleprompter and the electric outlet. Oh, thats right he can also convene a group and say the world will end tomorrow and does anybody have any “fresh” ideas on how to save it. He has got that one down pat.
  83. “On the excise tax, this is obviously a key concern for unions, and the best practice would be to enact a carve-out for those who arrived at their health benefits through collective bargaining.
    Aw, HELL no! Sorry, but if the whole point of the unions ranting and raving is to ensure that whatever bill passes, they get special treatment and exemptions, while the rest of the non-unionized citizenry can go pound sand and pay through the wazoo, then not just no but HELL no.
    I swear, I’ve been pro-union all my life, but if this crap keeps up, then I’m reconsidering that position. Power corrupts, and a lot of the crap they pull these days is a long long LONG way from the original (and good) intent of labor unions.
  84. “The NObama coalition has its origins in August 2008.”
    This may be your take on the history of NObama, admin, but I recall very clearly being outraged by the RBC meeting of 31 May 2008, when the name Harriet Christian became a household word in half an hour; and within a week, hundreds of PUMA sites had sprung up. “Party Unity My Ass” meant there were sincere Democrats who simply would not unify behind the piece of shit the party had selected. By the time Hillary delivered her concession, or rather suspension, speech of June 6, there were already polls showing that 30% of her supporters would not vote for Obama, 2/3 of whom were ready to vote McCain, and those numbers never changed right on down to November 4. So the origin of the NObama coalition, to my mind, was very exactly 31 May 2008.
    “The NObama coalition has its origins in August 2008.”
    This may be your take on the history of NObama, admin, but I recall very clearly being outraged by the RBC meeting of 31 May 2008
    &&&&&&&&&
    To my knowledge, prior to the RBC treason, the NObama coalition was blossoming. 5/31 was the final straw.
    Once Orca helped revive Obama’s chances in Oct. 2007, people started seriously asking, “Can this lightweight, inexperienced Junior Senator possibly win the nomination??”
    We were questioning his past even back then. Even after the very first debates mid-2007, where Blinky Blinkerson couldn’t even speak coherently, it became obvious that the media was feathering his pillow and giving him every possible benefit of the doubt, lest they appear RACIST.
  87. Andy Stern is a prime example of a union leader who reaches the top and then forsakes the interests of his members. A large portion of his members work at or near minimum wage. But he is a celebrity and a player on capitol hill. And for him, and others that is what counts.
    There will be no card check and no carve out. They will soon be under the bus. And big media will applaud Obama like they always do. They want a government bailout for themselves and will do his bidding to get it.
  88. Hillary offers a Rose of a Deal. China may not agree to navigate the thorns of TRANSPARENCY…
    Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told reporters in Copenhagen Thursday the United States is willing to commit up to $10 billion a year by 2012, and would support a global fund of $100 billion a year to help developing nations deal with climate change, provided the nations here are willing live up to the ‘transparency’ demanded by the U.S.
    With global climate change talks veering off and precariously back on the tracks, the U.S. Thursday extended a $100 billion carrot to the rest of world.
    Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told reporters in Copenhagen Thursday the United States is willing to commit up to $10 billion a year by 2012, and would support a global fund of $100 billion a year to help developing nations deal with climate change, provided the nations here are willing live up to the ‘transparency’ demanded by the U.S.
    The $100 billion gambit is intended to re-energize the pursuit of a global agreement – probably only minimally binding – to reduce greenhouse gases enough to keep the planet’s temperature from rising by no more than 2 degrees centigrade by 2020.
    Clinton said the money was “conditional,” directing her words at China, which has refused to meet the monitoring and verification requirements requested by the U.S. when it comes to promises of carbon reductions. Without greater transparency, Clinton warned, the $100 billion offer would evaporate.
    “I have often quoted a Chinese proverb which says that when you are in a common boat, you have to cross the river peacefully together,” Clinton said. “Well, we are in a common boat. All of the major economies have an obligation to commit to meaningful mitigation actions and stand behind them in a transparent way.”
    Clinton, who is one of six cabinet members accompanying President Obama to the climate summit, said climate change “is an undeniable and unforgiving fact.” And the U.S. was willing to work with other nations to reduce carbon emissions, but any agreement here must have “full transparency.”
    Addressing speculation that Obama might cancel his scheduled arrival Friday, the final day of the conference, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told Fox News there is “no change in our plans.”
    Gibbs added negotiators are working towards a political agreement and not a treaty. “The president is not just going there for the sake of getting an agreement but wants something that works.”
    Gibbs told reporters the president is “not under any illusion that this was going to be easy.”
    Critics have accused the U.S. of trying to ‘buy’ support for a climate treaty that meets U.S. approval. On Wednesday, negotiators from Britain and the developing nations came to agree on the $100 billion figure by 2020, a reduction from $400 billion African and the poorest nations had previously insisted upon.
    Clinton urged all sides to seek common ground in the final stretch of negotiations.
    “I understand that the talks have been difficult,” she said. “And we will continue doing all that we can do. But the time is at hand for all countries to find common ground.”
    But however much money the U.S. is willing to throw at a climate change deal may not be enough for China. Officials in its delegation reportedly told participants at the negotiations Thursday it sees no possibility of achieving an operational accord to tackle global warming this week, an official involved in the talks told Reuters.
    The unidentified official told Reuters the Chinese had instead suggested issuing “a short political declaration of some sort,” but it was not clear what that declaration would say.
    Meanwhile, world leaders starting flooding into Copenhagen on Thursday, even as a Danish official acknowledged that hope was running out for a comprehensive climate deal because the negotiations between rich and poor countries were deadlocked.
    The official said the Danish hosts of the U.N. conference had not given up though it appeared unlikely that their ambitious plan for the conference would be fulfilled.
    “As it looks now, we will not get the deal that we had hoped for,” said the official, who is not authorized to speak publicly about the talks and asked not to be named.
    (Obama is throwing in the kitchen sink (Pelosi and Co. traveling with a delegation pretending jobs are their goal) to get a Treaty deal. It’s just not going to happen. The magic word of the day is TRANSPARENCY.. the one word feared by the players having the most to loose)
    House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who came to Denmark with 20 other House lawmakers, including six Republicans, said Congress is “fully prepared” to back Clinton’s $100 billion commitment.
    She said her delegation comes with one word in mind: jobs.
    “It’s about jobs,” she said. “Jobs sustainable for the future, for a green revolution.”
    Pelosi added that the climate change legislation that passed in the House but stalled in the Senate reflects how serious the U.S. is about tackling global warming.
    “We believe we come here pretty well prepared to have a bill that is a vehicle for how we can work together with other countries,” she said.
    (Except Pelosi knows as well as we do, Hillary threw in a moneywrench to the Summit negotiations… “TRANSPARENCY”- It ain’t going to happen)
  89. “When Mr. Obama tells the supercilious Charlie Look At Me I Went To Princeton Gibson that if my health care plan does not pass the United States will grow bankrupt, when there is an international skepticism about the United States economy and a possible run on the dollar it is the mark of an unstable mind to say something like that. It is the practical equivalent of yelling fire in a crowded theater.”
    wbboei,
    You are on a roll today! Great comments.
  90. “Hillary threw in a moneywrench to the Summit negotiations… “TRANSPARENCY”- It ain’t going to happen)”
    ———————
    So Hillary delivers the bambi message. Does this give him a “get out of jail free” card when the Summit either collapses or comes up with a declaration that has no meat or substance and just serves to allow bambi and his other cronies postering and kodak opportunities?
  91. I was listening to the radio this a.m and the late night show hosts were giving out their Golden Globe Award nominees. This is pertinent to us:
    “For Best Democrat masquerading as a Republcan, the nominee is Barack Obama.”
  92. Oh I am enjoying this watching Daily Kos squeal like pigs. Well sorry but screw you for what you did to Hillary and all the bots that took over your site. You deserve everything thats coming to you.
    Markos Moulitsas, the founder of Daily Kos, one of the Left’s leading blogs, is fuming. For months, he has been leading the charge on Obamacare, drumming up support amongst Democrats while keeping the Left’s many camps united behind one goal: passing a health-care bill. Now, with Senate majority leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) caving to one senator after another, Moulitsas sees his cause being destroyed by his own side. And he’s fighting back.
    In a post on his website, Moulitsas writes that if Reid’s bill is gutted of a public option, but still includes an individual mandate, then it should be “killed.”
    “My take is that it’s unconscionable to force people to buy a product from a private insurer that enjoys sanctioned monopoly status,” says Moulitsas. “It’d be like forcing everyone to attend baseball games, but instead of watching the Yankees, they were forced to watch the Kansas City Royals. Or Washington Nationals. It would effectively be a tax — and a huge one — paid directly to a private industry.”
    “Without any mechanisms to control costs, this is yet another bailout for yet another reviled industry,” adds Moulitsas. “Subsidies? Insurance companies are free to raise their rates to absorb that cash. More money for subsidies? More rate increases, as well as more national debt. Don’t expect Lieberman and his ilk to care. They’re in it for their industry pals.”
    So sans a public option, what does Moulitsas want? “Strip out the mandate, and the rest of the bill is palatable,” he says. “It’s not reform, but it’s progress in the right direction.”
    Will Obamacare be killed by Kos? It could happen. It’s clear that other liberals pay close attention to Moulitsas. On Wednesday, MSNBC host Keith Olbermann also urged the individual mandate to be stripped out in a ‘Special Comment’ section that closely mirrored Kos’s post. Pressuring Democratic leaders, Olbermann went on to call the individual mandate without a public option “above all else immoral and a betrayal of the people who elected you . . . Pass this at your peril, senators, and sign at yours, Mr. President.”
    This isn’t the first time Kos has played a powerful role in shaping the internal debate of the Democratic party. In March 2008, he lashed out at then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for failing to abide by the “guiding principles of this site” and for fomenting “civil war” in lefty ranks. The blogosphere (and mainstream media) narrative soon echoed these complaints. Kos also played a major role in ginning up liberal support for the successful Senate campaigns of Jon Tester and Jim Webb in 2006.
    As Reid Wilson of National Journal points out, “Health care could prove the issue where Kos, and his blogging brethren, make a major break from Senate Dems. There have been moments before when blogger/activists show some distance and voice displeasure with the party, but never over something so major as health care reform — and never over something teetering so precariously on the edge of collapse.”
    The future of Obamacare now hangs in the balance. For Democrats, if you lose Kos, you lose the base. As Moulitsas Tweeted this week: “Insurance companies win. Time to kill this monstrosity coming out of the Senate.” He followed up with this gem: “Bye bye, Reid. You weren’t a bad MINORITY leader.”
    Moulitsas is also mounting a strong defense for his stance. Today, he’s Tweeting to the masses about how the individual mandate in Massachusetts shouldn’t be a model for liberals. “Doing research on Massachusetts premiums,” he writes. “Any claim that mandates control costs is disproved in the Bay State.” He adds: “Mass mandate penalty is hefty — 50% of least costly available plan . . . deductibles have already risen 9.4 percent since passage of the reform . . . I’ve only written it 2,000 times. Kill mandate.”
    Such infighting does not bode well for Democrats next year. In his op-ed in The Hill this week, Moulitsas — whose website sits at the nexus of the party’s netroots-fundraising networks — wrote about how the current health-care battle could doom Democrats in 2010: “There’s no doubt that Democrats are also in trouble, with a demoralized base unwilling to turn out for a party unable to deliver on campaign promises.”
  93. rgb44hrc would you consider the possibility that the NOBAMA coalition started right here on this blog. I think Admin was the first party to vet Obama and was excoriated by big media and big blogs for doing so. Noonan was vocal about this and that is how I found this site. They called this a racist site in those days, which is a bit ironic since some of the contributors worked in the civil rights movement and others tried to get Powell to run. To be called a racist now has an entirely different connotation today than it did before Obama. If you are called a racist today, the polite reply is oh you must be a supporter of our incompetent president. How is the hope and change working for you? My statement to all of them at the time was if we are going to have our first black president make good goddam sure he is the right one, because good or bad you will be stuck with the precedent. There are too many good black leaders to let one bad one like Obama hold this country back. This never would have happened without the big media. They are responsible.
  94. We definitely were one of the original NOBAMA contributors and if it was’nt for us, we’d be in a very different place, all those facts about dumbo would never have seen light of day.
  95. Jesus, when i think of all the times we sat round this internet room and worked our asses of for Hillary right from the first primary and well before that and how at times we despaired because we thought no-one was listening to what we knew of how big a fraud this man was.
    I really do thank all of us for keeping each other sane because we would have ended up looney tunes had we not had each other.
  96. Apparently 20 Senators are trying to get someone to look into the deal of armtwisting by the administration of Senator Nelson. I hope they can get this going!
  97. The broad protection accorded to the media under the first amendment is designed to ensure a marketplace of ideas from which truth will emerge. They have failed in that mission and become propagandists. Where Obama is concerned they were cheerleaders as opposed to watchdogs. Like the Arab expression they were the dog that did not bark.
  98. Ditto, moon. I am sad for my country that the fraud that is Obama is being realized so late, but I’m still glad that at least it is. And I’m glad that admin and all of us never stopped sounding the alarm – that we refused to just give in and admire the naked emperor’s lovely coat.
    I’m pretty much making common cause these days with almost anyone who will help point out what an unmitigated disaster this boob is. At a later date I will part ways with some of them on many issues, but for now I’ll take what ammunition I can get to save my country from this poser and his band of merry henchmen.
  99. Well, I can say, its an interesting read over at firedoglake. One commenter says that all this biblical apocolypse stuff is done by the republicans and it has taken hold in America.
    Well, I certainly wouldn’t take this advice for an agnostic leftie, but gee I would love to think Obama is great and Hillary is there to help because she believes in his polices, and the reason he is tanking is that the republicans are forcing their policies and Obama is a pantywaist that is too weak to fight.
    Hillary more than deliver Bambi’s message. She gave them a Big, shiny, generous offer topped with a big Red Bow… IF they (particularly China) allowed transparency. That is, inspections of their premises and any new technologies they are implementing reducing CO2 emmissions proving they are working towards reducing carbon emitted into the atmosphere. And at the same time put a brave face on America as a leader proposing a deal that can be done if all are in compliance with the transparency requirement. (that would include the IPCC’s scientific findings arriving at the warming conclusions)
    I am so proud of her recommendations and negotiating skills. If she had been at the helm all along we would be well on our way to an uplifted economy with a bright future and taking advantage of the solid Green job creation she has in her quiver.
    In fact, he’s got the worst ratings of any president at the end of his first year.Article Comments (490) more in
    By KARL ROVE
    Barack Obama has won a place in history with the worst ratings of any president at the end of his first year: 49% approve and 46% disapprove of his job performance in the latest USA Today/Gallup Poll.
    There are many factors that explain it, including weakness abroad, an unprecedented spending binge at home, and making a perfectly awful health-care plan his signature domestic initiative. But something else is happening.
    Mr. Obama has not governed as the centrist, deficit-fighting, bipartisan consensus builder he promised to be. And his promise to embody a new kind of politics—free of finger-pointing, pettiness and spin—was a mirage. He has cheapened his office with needless attacks on his predecessor.
    Consider Mr. Obama’s comment in his interview this past Sunday on CBS’s “60 Minutes” that the Bush administration made a mistake in speaking in “a triumphant sense about war.”
    View Full Image
    Associated Press
    This was a slap at every president who rallied the nation in dark moments, including Franklin D. Roosevelt (“With confidence in our armed forces, with the unbounding determination of our people, we will gain the inevitable triumph”); Woodrow Wilson (“Right is more precious than peace and we shall fight for the things which we have always carried nearest our hearts”); and John F. Kennedy (“Any hostile move anywhere in the world against the safety and freedom of peoples to whom we are committed . . . will be met by whatever action is needed”).
    This kind of attack gives Mr. Obama’s words a slippery quality. For example, he voted for the bank rescue plan in September 2008 and praised it during the campaign. Yet on Dec. 8 at the Brookings Institution, Mr. Obama called it “flawed” and blamed “the last administration” for launching it “hastily.”
    Really? Bush Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and New York Fed President Timothy Geithner designed it. If it was “flawed,” why did Mr. Obama later nominate Mr. Bernanke to a second term as Fed chairman and make Mr. Geithner his Treasury secretary?
    Mr. Obama also claimed at Brookings that he prevented “a second Great Depression” by confronting the financial crisis “largely without the help” of Republicans. Yet his own Treasury secretary suggests otherwise. In a Dec. 9 letter, Mr. Geithner admitted that since taking office, the Obama administration had “committed about $7 billion to banks, much of which went to small institutions.” That compares to $240 billion the Bush administration lent banks. Does Mr. Obama really believe his additional $7 billion forestalled “the potential collapse of our financial system”?
    Mr. Obama continued distorting the record in his “60 Minutes” interview Sunday when he blamed bankers for the financial crisis. They “caused the problem,” he insisted before complaining, “I haven’t seen a lot of shame on their part” and pledging to put “a regulatory system in place that prevents them from putting us in this kind of pickle again.”
    But as a freshman senator, Mr. Obama supported a threatened 2005 filibuster of a bill regulating Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. He doesn’t show “a lot of shame” that he and other Fannie and Freddie defenders blocked “a regulatory system” that might have kept America from getting in such a bad pickle in the first place.
    The president’s rhetorical tricks don’t end there. Mr. Obama also claimed his $787 billion stimulus package “helped us [stem] the panic and get the economy growing again.” But 1.5 million more people are unemployed than he said there would be if nothing were done.
    And as of yesterday, only $244 billion of the stimulus had been spent. Why was $787 billion needed when less than a third of that figure supposedly got the job done?
    Mr. Obama also alleged on “60 Minutes” that health-care reform “will actually bring down the deficit” (which people clearly know it will not). He said his reform reduces “costs and premiums for American families and businesses” (though they will be higher than they would otherwise be). And he claimed 30 million more people will get coverage through “an exchange that allows individuals and small businesses” to purchase insurance (though 15 million of them are covered by being dumped into Medicaid and don’t get private insurance).
    Mr. Obama may actually believe it when he says, “I think that’s a pretty darned good outcome” and congratulates himself that he could succeed where “seven presidents have tried . . . [and] seven presidents have failed.”
    But voters seem to have a different definition of success. And they are tiring of the president’s blame shifting and distortions.
    Mr. Obama may believe, as he told Oprah Winfrey in a recent interview, that he deserves a “solid B+” for his first year in office, but the American people beg to differ. A presidency that started with so much promise is receiving unprecedentedly low grades from the country that elected him. He’s earned them.
    Mr. Rove, the former senior adviser and deputy chief of staff to President George W. Bush, is the author of the forthcoming book “Courage and Consequence” (Threshold Editions).
    Sorry my wisecrack was unclear. We’ve had two claims posted here from Russian sources. One was obviously tinfoil: US government controlling us with flouridation and waves through the tv. The other sounded less insane but came from Moscow based Institute for ECONOMIC Analysis (IEA) which turns out to be not a science organization but a political/economic ‘think tank’ comparable to our Cato and RUN BY A CATO MAN. If this had come directly from Cato etc it would have been classed with other big money right wing stuff. Coming from Russia it sounded more impressive till we see what IEA really is.
    &&&&&&&&&&
    JB, i think you are overestimating how much “credit” Obama is going to get, for:
    * a tremendously flawed bill that appears to make many things worse
    * that is a huge gift to large industries (pharmaceuticals, health care)
    * that his own base finds abhorrent (some asking to kill the bill, other say “vote for it holding your nose”)
    * that has high disapproval among polled individuals
    * that Congress has been saying “why isn’t the president involved”
    * that Obama outsourced
    How is he going to get credit, when it isn’t deserved, and where the final product is not likely to be worth being shown in broad daylight?
  115. and JB, you mentioned that Obama “could not be stopped this year”, that they “successfully” rammed through law after law.
    If Obama is so successful, why the heck is he not polling in the 70% range?
  116. Yes, I agree its funny as hell really the big orange blog. It is also funny to watch Olberman whining. They didn’t know he was a CROOK, we tried to tell them. It is also hillarious of at TM. There are a couple of Kool-aiders still trying to make the wiser ones feel bad. LOL!!!
  117. rgb44hrc, I agree that his personal popularity has taken a huge and justifiable hit. Unfortunately, the few moderates we relied on in the senate caved in and will hand him this huge “victory” on health care despite the grave misgivings many of the moderates have with it. Just as in the campaign, Obama et al was able to intimidate and squeeze those that dared challenge him. I was particularly surprised Lieberman , after promising a filibuster, caved quickly after the public option was emasculated by agreed to this medicare by in. In the end, just as in the primary, it came down to BO getting just enough of the votes, one way or another.
  118. confloyd, I’ve been reading the comments over there, and it’s just nuts. We now have a whole new list of things that are RAYCIST to say about Obama, according to one commenter on the cheetoh blog:
    saying in the context of they are saying it about a black man. it’s like they HAVE TO ignore obama is black, or they can’t come up with better ways to get their points across.
    he’s “owned” by the corporatists?
    he’s a backstabbing traitor? (because hey, there’s no bad history in the US of black men who were viewed as ‘traiterous’ to the ‘merikun way’)
    he’s the puppet of rahm? (nope, no problematic themes of the nefarious jew running the mindless black man to his own ends, no siree)
    spineless, balless, not a man – all stuff that is used to unman black men when hypersexualizing them doesn’t do the job. nah, no history there.
    i could go on, but why bother? it’s worse to point out racially problematic things than to engage in them by the look of the threads here.
    So no “spineless, traitor, owned by the insurance companies” criticisms are to be allowed – those arguments that have been thrown at EVERY politician, for several decades, are all now taboo in Obotland, I guess.
  119. JB, his “victories” are illusory and hollow. At this rate, he cannot afford to keeping “winning”.
    I don’t see Obama intimidating anyone. Congress ignores him, Iran and North Korea laugh at him, Congress has to write their own mishmash legistlation because he refuses to get his hands dirty.
    Basically, he says, “just pass any damn law and give me a photo op”. This sham “leadership” quickly reveals itself to be bogus. Bush too had his little triumphs, “Mission Accomplished”, and look how badly looks on him now, just a few years removed.
    December 17th, 2009 at 4:44 pm
    and JB, you mentioned that Obama “could not be stopped this year”, that they “successfully” rammed through law after law.
    If Obama is so successful, why the heck is he not polling in the 70% range?
    =====================
    He’s ramming through things that the PEOPLE don’t like.
    Also note whether the poll reports “job approval” or “personally viewed positively” or “presidential index” etc etc. They can give very different figures.
  121. jb–its damnosa hereditas for him if it passes. It is the original under the table deal he cut with Billy Tauzin set to music. It is rezko redux–reward big business and screw the constitutents and collect the vigorish. It is toxic and it is out there in the full light of day for everyone to see. It is his Tiger Woods moment. If they try to substitute the house version in reconciliation people will take to the streets. To do this against the weight of public opinion is political madness and the short path to suicide. I just got a note today from a friend of mine who I went to high school with. He is a democratic congressman and for the first time he has an opponent. He wants money of course and I intend to tell him you will have your money when Hillary is President or hell freezes over whichever occurs first.
  122. What the hell are Pelousy and Boxerface doing over there? Accumulating air miles?
    ————————————————————————————————
    Trying to get some of Hillary’s thunder, they can’t stand for her to get a damn thing. Pooplosi wants to be the President.
    I guess she is trying to say she will get crap and trade passed so lets make a deal. Yeah right, she can’t even get healthcare passed.
    ——————————
    Hillary has bargaining authority. They do not. The expression we used to use for people like that was hangers on and in the Hoffa era we called them spear catchers. Typically they came armed.
  123. On second thought those two could also be spies. Pelosi did that to Hillary in Texas and we got the word to one of her well heeled fundraiser. She had her chief of staff in Texas criticizing Hillary and promoting Obama. This was while she was supposedly head of the DNC. She denied everything. Sooner or later Pelosi will be politically destroyed. She is a political liability, and I am quite sure the Repo machine will rip her to shreds this next year. She will be the poster child for an out of control big business dominated majority which sells out the American People. Bad times are coming around for Nancy–it is written in the wind.
  124. Our next article is how to stop the Obama scam called “health care reform”. For Republicans that read this website or those that visit Republican or conservative websites, you might want to link to our next post on those sites. We’ll also provide a phone number to call to inform Republicans in congress of our strategy, a strategy which they have not considered or not acted on.
  125. Admin: it looks like 1/3 of Obama’s most ardent supporters are wishing they had voted for Hillary. Yes, there is trouble in paradise or rather never never land.
  126. Looking ahead. Gutierrez is tied in to the Illinois Combine. Whether he also has ties to the latin american drug cartel I do not know.
    Now, We Have the Terrifying Details of the Worst Amnesty Bill Ever. Rewards Nearly ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS and Guts Most Enforcement So Future Illegals Will Have it Easy!
    Seniors with felonies would qualify! Illegal Aliens could NOT be arrested in most public places. Illegals with U.S.-born children will always be exempt from deportation.
    DEAR wbboei,
    Earlier this week, I told you the amnesty bill was being introduced. Now that we’ve read it, even we are shocked at the brazenness of it..
    If you care about stopping the worst amnesty ever proposed, you need to get into the battle now and fight with us.
    This is your Action Alert for Thursday.
    Please take the actions below that I’ve outlined for you.
    Our chief House opponent, Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), has introduced a bill that is much, much more radical than any Amnesty bill ever introduced.
    I’m going to give a super-condensed summary of the two-page bill. Some features are so outrageous you may think we are making them up. But it’s all true!
    The bill outlaws all state and local laws against illegal immigration. It overthrows laws like those in Arizona, Oklahoma, and Georgia that punish companies for hiring illegal aliens.
    It eliminates the 287(g) program in which local law enforcement helps identify and detect illegal aliens for the feds.
    Job verification would no longer be possible, because this bill would ELIMINATE E-Verify! All our gains in verification over the last decade would be destroyed if this bill were to become law.
    All Illegal Aliens in U.S. as of day-before-yesterday will be given immediate Amnesty.
    The only ones not given the Amnesty are those who’ve committed a “serious crime.” BUT, if the criminal is above 65 years old, no problem–they get the amnesty. (New industry–older criminals smuggled into U.S. to escape punishment in home countries?)
    Importation of foreign-workers or permanent immigrants will be GREATLY increased.
    William, this is not a future I want to live in. This is not the America I love. How about you? Will you stand with Roy and our whole NumbersUSA team as we block this ugliest of all Illegal Alien Amnesties?
    The good news is that NumbersUSA, with all our members, has stopped every previous Illegal Alien Amnesty of the past decade. Don’t let this be the one that un-does us!
    Actions to perform TODAY to kill this worst Amnesty EVER:
    Read this blog on NumbersUSA to get the details of just how terrible this bill is. Believe me, it’s much, much worse than you can imagine.
    Arm yourself with full info on the Amnesty by reading this point-by-point analysis of the entire bill. If you care about this issue like I think you do, this analysis with our commentary will make your head explode. Ok, got all the info now? Time to act!
    KEEP THE FAITH, AND NEVER GIVE UP!
  127. wbboei,
    I like your predictions about Squat and Pelousy.
    Admin,
    The Koskids heads exploding would be funny as he!! if it wasn’t for the harm they’ve done to the rest of us.
    👿
  128. JEEZUS!
    Now the senate is planning on voting for HCR on Xmas Eve!
    Bet they wouldn’t dare schedule it on the last day of Ramadan.
  129. Even the Deaniac boobs, are now realizing they have been had. And it is the Deaniacs who are quoting Obama’s attacks on Hillary. Obama, the boobs say, attacked Hillary for the very things he is now proposing, incompetently and without any logical plan, to do. Maybe the Deaniacs are prepping for a presidential run and an electoral challenge to Ebola.
    yes admin. Obama is Ebola. Barack Hussein Ebola.
  130. jbstonesfan: I just got this one. It is from Newsmax.
    Home > InsideCover Print Page | Forward Page | E-mail Us Nelson Rejects Abortion Compromise
    Thursday, 17 Dec 2009 12:30 PMArticle Font Size
    Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson — the moderate Democrat whose opposition is holding up the Senate’s health care bill — says new language on abortion doesn’t satisfy his concerns.
    Nelson told KLIN radio in Lincoln, Nebraska, Thursday that an attempt at compromise doesn’t get to the fundamental issue of barring federal funding for abortions.
    Nelson says without further changes the compromise isn’t sufficient.
    Catholic and anti-abortion groups have also weighed in against the new language, which attempts to separate public from private funding of abortion.
    Democrats are wooing Nelson in order to get the 60 votes needed to pass a sweeping health care bill by Christmas.
    But Nelson said abortion wasn’t his only concern and he didn’t see how the Christmas deadline could be met.
  131. Funniest thing I read on the cheetoh’s Liberal Racism diary was this, about how Tiger Woods and Squat are treated differently than white politicians like Clinton and Edwards.
    “Edwards screwed around and Squat screwed us over.”
  132. Glenn Beck chickened out today, he did not mention the e-mail he got from the WH yesterday as the show closed. Nary a word, hmmm, hmmm, either he is waiting for more info to hit them with or he was successfully threatened. Time will tell. I expect the hype to get hotter as we approach Christmas Eve.
    At least all this crap took our mind off the falling stock market, the toys/decorations that are still lining the shelves at the stores. So I guess this chaos has paid off for those at the WH.
    Get ready for the bad shit once the New Year is over, thats basically what Beck is talking about now.
    Yahoo is reporting that things are falling in place in Copenhagen, gee, I wonder if it could be because Hillary is there telling the (TRUTH) as people believe her and they don’t believe Ms. Nancy or POTUS>
  133. In the meantime, the senate raises the debt ceiling by $290 billion and then there’s this;
    WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama has signed into law a $1.1 trillion bill that increases the budgets in many areas of the government by about 10 percent, including health, law enforcement and veterans’ programs.
    Obama signed the bill privately at the White House on Wednesday after receiving the bill from Congress on Sunda
  134. confloyd,
    Much as I admire HRC I am against climategate. It doesn’t benefit anyone except the handful of already filthy rich businesspeople who stand to make another fortune on it. (IMHO)
    In GB, 2 million trash cans with sensors at the bottom monitoring the content of waste have been distributed to families who are taxed on what the trashcan meter says. This is insanity. If crap and tax and climate legislation passes it’s another nail in the coffin of American citizens.
    It’s bad enough that in my state (NY) the Gov just passed a law requiring upfront paid deposits on bottled water. (I’m gonna get a filter for the faucet).
    I am disgusted by the continuing excessive out-of-control regulations. Plus, I never believed the global warming BS.
  135. I got this email and though I would share it here. lol:
    To All My Dimocrat Friends:
    Please accept with no obligation, implied or explicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2010, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.
    To My Republican Friends:
    Merry Christnas and a Happy New Year
  136. Agreed Basil9, “Much as I admire HRC I am against climategate. It doesn’t benefit anyone except the handful of already filthy rich businesspeople who stand to make another fortune on it. (IMHO)”
  137. Basil9, the one they are going after now is a watered down version that doesn’t affect our soveignty, I think thats why she is there. Is more like what she would want to help. SHe does however believe in climate change.
  138. BTW, did anyone see HRC walk on stage in Copenhaugen?? She had a very strange look on her face as she walked to the podium. I just wonder what you guys thought about the body language/facial expression.
  139. confloyd,
    Even if it’s been watered down it’s still a pile of poo, IMHO.
    And I have zero trust of anything Squat is involved in.For me, the idea of taxing carbon emission is insanity, it;’ slike taxing US for breathing, not to mention the erosing impact it would have on agriculture.
    I’ve covered a few local dairy farmers and legislation like crap ‘n tax would put them out of business.
    It’s total insanity. Yes, the environment should be protected, but what’s being proposed is about power and control.
    About seeing HRC, I refuse to watch LSM so I didn’t see it but I wouldn’t be surprised that she looks uncomfortable. She’s got to spout the maniacal messages of the messiah she doesn’t believe in. Must be hard.
    BTW – I was disappointed to hear BC’s endorsement of the HCR legislation today. What do you think?
  140. my goodness…all everyone is talking about all over tv is how O SQUANDERED his first year and accomplished nothing of significance…how right out of the gate he made a strategic mistake and misread the pulse while pushing for cap and trade and health reform and was swimming against the american people…
    …how he should have focused like a laser bean on the economy and creating jobs – because that is where the mindset of the american people is…and i will throw in, O should have adopted Hillary’s plan for dealing with home foreclosures, but instead O just let them continue to fail resulting in more americans losing their homes than in the previous year…way to go…break bush’s record!
    …how now O has no friends and people do not know where he rally stands on anything…how the left is angry and feels betrayed because he broke so many promises…how O just stands on the sidelines and lets others do all the hard work and then comes in on cue with his “I”, “I”, “I” to claim all the credit…
    …how the independents are running away from O as fast as they can…and any repubs he hoodwinked are long since gone…
    …three more long years…
  141. Sen. Nelson (D-NE) Rejects Abortion “Compromise” — Not at Yes is the New No
    The left-right-center squeeze is on. (See this post for the latest parade of liberal attacks on the bill.)
    Now, Senator Ben Nelson — who was not bought off by offers of $500 million in earmarks for his state, or cowed by threats to close every Nebraska military base — has rejected the abortion “compromise” language. It’s not just abortion either, Senator Nelson also cited other concerns he had with the legislation.
    So, if you are counting Senators who are not YES votes, that count would be:
    1. Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE)
    2. Senator Burris (D-IL)
    3. Senator Sanders (I-VT)
    4. Senator Feingold (D-WI)
    5. Senator Webb (D-VA)
    Who knows where Senator McCaskill (D-MO) is, she says she will decide based on the CBO score. Gee, I wonder how that will turn out? Senators Landrieu (D-LA) and Lincoln (D-AR) are both at Yes — according to A1 Senate sources. The same sources say Senators Snowe and Collins are at No, a firm No.
    However, the bottom line is this, Senator Reid does not have 60 votes. He cannot, therefore, have a vote on his hidden-not-yet-released-vapor-bill.
    Senators Not-at-Yes matters because what the Senate ObamaCare bill has been doing for weeks is spinning-in-place.
    And support has eroded, not strengthened as Senator Reid keeps trying new formulations to get to 60 votes. He never has had 60 votes for the bill (only 60 to proceed to consideration of it) and he may never get to 60 votes. I do not think he will ever have 60 votes.
    So if you are Senator Reid, why have a vote just to lose it?
    Especially when other No votes will start to show up on the floor once it is clear that 60 votes will not be achieved, since Senators know that Senator Reid and the President will not need their vote. These Senators would rather not get the earache (as in you are yelling in my ear) in their home state, so they would just vote No. It is the smart vote, since those voters who feel most passionately — on the left and the right — are at No, and so is the general public.
    In short, not at Yes is the new No.
    Here is how the Associated Press is reporting the not at Yes statement by Senator Ben Nelson: Associated Press:
    “As it is, without modifications, the language concerning abortion is not sufficient,” Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson, a key holdout on the health care bill, said in a statement after first making his concerns known to Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.
    “Nelson said there were positive improvements dealing with teen pregnancy and adoption, and that he was open to further negotiations. But in a radio interview earlier in the day with KLIN in Lincoln, Nebraska, Nelson also said that abortion wasn’t his only concern and he didn’t see how the Christmas deadline was achievable.
    ——————————————————-
    They should have focused on the job and foreclosure issues at the beginning, or at least before all this health insurance crap. Bailing out Wall Street and not Main Street was only part of the solution. Lenders need to lend to small businesses, so that jobs can be created, which will help the economy and help to decrease some of the deficit. How can people pay for health insurance if they don’t have jobs? The government can’t afford to support the majority of the people.
    This administration is very tone deaf and out of touch with the majority of Americans. They have been bailing out all their donors.
  143. Basil9, My take on that look in Copenhaugen was satisfaction, as she had to go in and help them get this thing thru. That’s what I saw. She believes in climate change and I bet they are getting agreements on what she would have sponsored now.
