Threats of jail time are provisions in the TAX CODE, not the bill. IRS doesn’t like to try criminal prosecution for non-payment of taxes (I sadly know this from personal experience) but seek civil penalties first. The letter quoted in biggovernment spells out the penalties, civil and criminal.

less than 100 convictions were for willful failure to pay or file taxes. It is very hard to prove..

There is disinformation and scare tactics on both sides of this issue and I don’t claim to have all the info, but much of what people seem to be worried about is accessible to the individual without the filter or some pundit or opinion website.

40,000= 7% $3100.00 $250.00
50,000= 11% $6200.00 $500.00
60,000= 15% $10000.00 $830.00

The rates are based on % of the poverty level. I favor “medicare for all”, or single payer myself, but less than 100.00 per month for health insurance for a family of 4 seems reasonable to me. That isn’t a comment on the plan itself (I haven’t read all 10,000 pages lol) just the amounts that are stated in the letter from biggovernmnet.

That $15G quote is, as I understand it, an estimate of the cost by 2016.

“According to the Congressional Budget Office the lowest cost family non-group plan under the Speaker’s bill would cost $15,000 in 2016.”
