Treachery, Fear, And Loathing, In New York

Publicity stunts, bread and Chicago circus style, are on tap today. Barack Obama will bathe himself in his adored Klieg lights as he appears via tape on all the Sunday morning political chat shows (except for Fox News). These appearances will be publicity stunts, ostensibly to promote health care insurance reform, but only someone who wants to believe Circus Queen and Tinkerbell need applause to live is still befuddled that health care is really on the menu.

Obama will appear on Big Media broadcast network outlets today to pretend to fight for something that is long dead. Universal health care reform died in Denver in August 2008. Barack Obama Is and Was the Enemy of Health Care Reform. Perhaps Big Media will ask Obama about his plots and schemes to kill health care reform in Illinois, but somehow we doubt the unmentionable will be mentioned.

Obama this week will also tour New York City and do his best to politically assassinate Governor David Paterson, make Israel defenseless, and hide the obvious contempt world leaders have towards the Tinkerbell president.

* * * * *

The New York Times has a front page story on how Obama wants to throttle the African-American Governor of New York. Obama is a “racist”. Readers of Big Pink will not be surprised by the Times story because we have already written about the machinations of Chuck Schumer.

Chuck Schumer intends to get reelected easily and with big majorities and no one will stand in his way if he can help it. Chuck sees the problems Dimocrats face in 2010 and he will take no chances. Chuck will not go the way of Boxer or Reid or Dodd with tough reelection campaigns – not if he can help it.

And so Chuck Schumer, the U.S. Senator from New York is now working with labor unions and Dimocrats to get rid of African-American David Paterson.

Chuck Schumer hates Andrew Cuomo, the likely David Paterson replacement, but Chuck knows reelection will be easier with Cuomo at the top of the ticket than with barely double digits Paterson.

And remember, Andrew Cuomo cannot be the one to force Paterson out.

Today, the New York Times follows up on our reporting:

President Obama has sent a request to Gov. David A. Paterson that he withdraw from the New York governor’s race, fearing that Mr. Paterson cannot recover from his dismal political standing, according to two senior administration officials and a New York Democratic operative with direct knowledge of the situation.

The decision to ask Mr. Paterson to step aside was proposed by political advisers to Mr. Obama, but approved by the president himself, one of the administration officials said.

“Is there concern about the situation in New York? Absolutely,” the second administration official said Saturday evening. “Has that concern been conveyed to the governor? Yes.”

The political abortionist at the White House is Rahm Emanuel (ask Paul Hackett or Carolyn Maloney). The abortion is at the request of Chuck Schumer. The New York Times quotes the unnamed “political advisers” and reveals that it was African-American Representative Gregory W. Meeks of Queens who delivered the dead fish to Paterson.

The New York Times discusses the danger to Dimocrats in Congress and the state legislature in 2010. Governor Paterson is described as “resistant”. There is also fear of Rudy Giuliani running for Governor sparking armies of voters to the polls which would endanger any and all Dimocrats running in New York State.

Readers of Big Pink know U.S. Senator Schumer is the hand forcing Paterson out. Readers of Big Pink also know that Andrew Cuomo, because of his run against African-American Carl McCall years ago, cannot again challenge African-American Governor Paterson. Forget “content of one’s character”, this is skin color privilege Obama style. It’s “get a black to kill a black politics” and Obama is perfect for the job. According to the Times, Obama “could give them cover to abandon Mr. Paterson and endorse another candidate, most likely Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo”. African-Americans will once again be taught the lesson they refused to accept in 2008: Obama cannot be trusted.

Readers of Big Pink will also recall (the New York Times gets this all wrong) that it was Chuck Schumer who El Kabonged Caroline Kennedy because he needed someone from above the Tappen Zee bridge to run on the ticket and Caroline Kennedy also would be a privileged attention getter he would have to babysit for two years.

By the way, Kirsten Gillibrand might have injured herself politically by this past week’s support of ACORN. Gillibrand was only one of seven Senators who supported ACORN continuing to get taxpayer money. This is sure to be a campaign issue – one which will not help Gillibrand – especially because she will have to explain why Chuck Schumer voted to block ACORN from taxpayer funds. Gillibrand will also have to explain why Governor Paterson supports an investigation of ACORN and has frozen current and future contracts with ACORN. Former ACORN lawyer Obama could not possibly be happy with Paterson blocking money to his thugs.

The New York Times today also writes what we wrote about months ago. World Leaders And North Korea To Barack Obama: Sucker discussed the contempt world leaders have towards Obama.

The BOob is a pushover – that is the message from Barack Obama’s European vacation. The news from Asia is not much better as North Korea sizes up Obama and sees a dwarf.

World leaders sized up Obama and decided he is a celebrity wannabee. So world leaders gave Obama the soul craving celebrity he wants for himself and then smartly picked the pockets of Uncle Sam while Obama grinned.

This is all in keeping with the Obama history of self-agrandizement and doing nothing, zero, for anyone else. During the European Vacation Obama backslapped as if he was back at Harvard University bamboozling conservatives and liberals in order to advance himself. During the European Vacation Obama grinned and laughed and cameras popped but Americans were about as comforted as Obama’s freezing Chicago constituents. During the European Vacation Obama insulted America in order to make himself more popular.

Today, the New York Times, politely restates what we wrote so clearly months ago:

Foreign counterparts flock to meet with him, and polls show that people in many countries feel much better about the United States.

But eight months after his inauguration, all that good will so far has translated into limited tangible policy benefits for Mr. Obama. As much as they may prefer to deal with Mr. Obama instead of his predecessor, George W. Bush, foreign leaders have not gone out of their way to give him what he has sought.

European allies still refuse to send significantly more troops to Afghanistan. The Saudis basically ignored Mr. Obama’s request for concessions to Israel, while Israel rebuffed his demand to stop settlement expansion. North Korea defied him by testing a nuclear weapon. Japan elected a party less friendly to the United States. Cuba has done little to liberalize in response to modest relaxation of sanctions. India and China are resisting a climate change deal. And Russia rejected new sanctions against Iran’s nuclear program even as Mr. Obama heads into talks with Tehran.

Obama is a boob and foreign leaders know it. The New York Times puts a soft Kleig light on the issue, but Obama is a boob is a boob.

For an administration whose officials regularly boast of having what they call “the best brand in the world,” there is what Stephen Sestanovich calls growing “frustration with what other countries are prepared to contribute to advancing supposedly common interests.” Personal relations are important, said Mr. Sestanovich, a former Clinton administration ambassador with ties to the current team, but national interests still dominate. “That’s what American presidents generally discover,” he said.

That’s old reality. Now we have the new Hopium reality and the only thing that matters is Obama getting the publicity and attention he wants and… God Damn America. The chickens are coming home to roost.

James K. Glassman, who served as Mr. Bush’s last under secretary of state for public diplomacy and public affairs and now leads the former president’s new research institute, said popularity only went so far. “I wouldn’t say it’s not important to be well liked. It is important. But there are other factors involved,” he said. “What you need to do is find out where you have mutual interests.” [snip]

“The problem is he’s asking for roughly the same things President Bush asked for and President Bush didn’t get them, not because he was a boorish diplomat or a cowboy,” said Peter D. Feaver, a former adviser to Mr. Bush now at Duke University. “If that were the case, bringing in the sophisticated, urbane President Obama would have solved the problem. President Bush didn’t get them because these countries had good reasons for not giving them.”

In other words, Russia’s national interests did not change just because Mr. Obama arrived on the scene. India and China still worry about the economic impact of curbing greenhouse gas emissions. Europeans may like Mr. Obama but most of them still oppose the war in Afghanistan.

We’ve argued for years that Lord Palmerston was right about foreign policy but the Hopium addled and Dumb White People, in their Hopium dens and even at the New York Times, argued it was Obama’s “face” that would change the world and lead to chants from celestial choirs. Well, welcome to the world of reality at Lord Palmerston quoting Big Pink.

“Nations have no permanent friends or allies, they only have permanent interests.”

Obama this week will also host a publicity stunt featuring Benyamin Netanyahu and someone who might or might not represent Palestinians. It’s just a publicity stunt. It’s a publicity stunt for Klieg light loving Obama but it’s just a publicity stunt:

“The meeting does not mean negotiations,” a spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas said after the White House announced the first encounter between Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since the latter took office in March.

The summit will take place on Tuesday in New York during the U.N. General Assembly, U.S. officials said. They called it a mark of the president’s personal commitment to Middle East peace but played down the prospect of major immediate developments. [snip]

However, neither side has shown any shift away from the deadlock that was evident on Friday when Obama’s special envoy George Mitchell completed a week shuttling around the region.

Each blamed the other for a failure to re-launch talks that were suspended in December while Israel and Hamas fought in the Gaza Strip. Many analysts doubt Obama’s ability to end six decades of conflict in his quest to stabilise the Middle East.

Israel welcomed a meeting “without preconditions”. But Abbas spokesman Nabil Abu Rdainah repeated Palestinian demands, echoed by Washington since Obama took office in January, that Netanyahu should halt settlement expansion before full-blown talks resume.

Nations have interests and zero interest in fluffing Obama more than with Kleig lights. Just pat him on the head and make him happy but do nothing. Foreign leaders have taken the measure of Obama and he is a dwarf.

And whatever happened to that Iran deadline Obama had set? Nothing. Obama is a boob and a joke and foreign leaders know it. Just pat him on the head and make him happy but do nothing.

* * * * *

Hillary Clinton is respected around the world and in New York. Obama is not respected anywhere.

Treachery, Fear, And Loathing, In New York will be displayed this week. And laughter, there’s always the laughter as more and more realize Obama is a boob.

This morning he is blitzing the airwaves, giving interviews to all America’s main television stations.

But for what? Mr Obama has tactics a plenty – calm and patient engagement with unpleasant regimes, finding common interests, appealing to shared values – but where is the strategy? What, exactly, did “Change you can believe in” – the hallmark slogan of his campaign – actually mean?

The President’s domestic critics who accuse him of being the sinister wielder of a socialist master-plan are wide of the mark. The man who has run nothing more demanding than the Harvard Law Review is beginning to look out of his depth in the world’s top job. His credibility is seeping away, and it will require concrete achievements rather than more soaring oratory to recover it.

In New York this week Obama will try to recover the achievements in reality he never had.

All Obama will find in New York is Fear and Loathing for his boobery.

All Obama will provide in New York is Treachery.

  1. BTW, the publicity stunt tour already appears to be a failure:

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0909/27352.html

    President Barack Obama blitzed the Sunday morning airwaves to pitch health reform but found himself on the defensive — denying the plan breaks his campaign promise not to raise taxes on the middle class and insisting the public insurance option isn’t dead.

    And his attempt to rally Latino voters around the cause instead was met with sharp questioning from a relative newcomer to the Sunday scene – the Spanish-language network Univision – over Obama’s plan to deny illegal immigrants the benefits of health reform. [snip]

    n the interviews taped Friday – the first time a sitting president has done five Sunday shows back-to-back – Obama broke little new ground in how he tried to sell his own program, which has sharply divided his own party and left many in the public confused and deeply skeptical.

  2. and also may I add.

    Pissed everyone off for having his pug ugly mug plastered all over the television like a 2 bit celebrity camera whorehound.

    Get the message Obama, get off TV and get to work, the election ended almost a year ago and yet we are sick to the back teeth of looking at you on TV 24/7.

  3. WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says there should be an investigation into the hidden-camera video involving employees at the activist group ACORN and a couple posing as a prostitute and her pimp.

    The two ACORN workers are seen apparently advising the couple to lie about her profession and launder her earnings to get housing aid.

    Although he didnt say WHO should be investigated? Voting Present again I see?

  4. ‘It’s “get a black to kill a black politics” and Obama is perfect for the job.”

    That’s it in a nutshell.

    And a fascinating analysis of the Schumer factor. I knew he was powerful but not to this extent.

    BTW, couldya lay off Tinkerbell? 😉

    BTW, Admin, what do you think about BO’s Chairman of the UN Security Council gig?

  5. “Frankly, it’s not really something I’ve followed closely,” Obama said. “I didn’t even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money.”

    Asked about the president calling for an investigation, ACORN chief executive Bertha Lewis said Sunday, “Well, that’s his opinion.”

    Pinocchio’s nose just grew about a foot. He’s the one that gave them the money and then asked them to do the census.

  6. Basil, its ridiculous, thats what Foreign Secretaries and ambassadors for the UN are for, I mean for goodness sakes, does he want to do anything to stay in the news.

    They conduct the meetings and report back to the administration, not the other way around.

  7. Sorry but that really does go down as one the greatest Presidential Whoppers of all time.

    Whopper du jour: “I didn’t even know that ACORN was getting a whole
    lot of federal money.”

    Rofllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll……………………………What moron is gonna buy that crock of shit.

  8. Admin,

    obama wants this photo shoot with Bibi and Abbas because he doesn’t have anything else. It will be fluff with absolutely no substance just like all his so-called accomplishments. This week was supposed to be his time to shine with diplomatic achievements ala Iran, North Korea, and the Middle East. He has nothing…nada…zilch. He was supposed to have a health care policy in place. He has nothing…nada…zilch. His stimulus plan and financial reboot was supposed to solve everything. Guess what? Unemployment, deficit debt, bankruptcies, home losses are at an all time high.

    So looking like the lame duck that he is, he is going to the U.N. with empty hands, a badly dented reputation, and a lobotomy that just keeps on ticking.

  9. and then went on to say about Acorn.

    “And he said it is not a major national issue he pays much attention to.””

    His idea of a major national issue is when his black friends are arrested by white cops.

  10. The best thing is.

    Obama : “I didn’t even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money.”

    hmm that sounds familiar? well he didn’t know Bill Ayers,Resko,or Rev.Wright. He didn’t lawyer for ACORN, he didn’t use strong arm tactics with ACORN pressuring the banks into “paying” off ACORN with risky business failures, he hasn’t read a Health Care Bill,he doesn’t have his own Health Care Bill that he told the world he did

    So i take it then, everything he says is complete bullshit and a total lie.

    Why?

    For the longest time I have wondered whether Schumer himself is interested in the leadership role of the party.

    Could true journalism actually becoming back, lead by the segment of our population that supported him, and now see that maybe main stream media refused to ask the right questions so we would really find out who this person was. So, on the verge of becoming this countries majority, they will start showing big media how to do their job. I congraulate UNIVISION.

  18. Is Obama throwing his own daughter under the bus? We’ve noticed the older girl is somewhat embarrassed by her parents (as most kids her age are) and usually walks separately from Boob and Mrs. Boob. Here is the latest boobery which makes us question if the girl is under the bus:

    http://www.politico.com/blogs/politicolive/0909/Did_Obama_mispronounce_his_daughters_name_.html?showall

    Did President Barack Obama mispronounce his daughter’s name?

    Speaking about his family’s plan to prepare for the flu season on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Obama predicted that his daughters, Sasha and Malia, will get vaccines after children with special needs and pregnant women.

    “After that, I think you’re looking at kids, and so Maya and Sasha would fall into that category,” Obama said.

    Perhaps the president mixed up his daughter Malia with his sister Maya, who recently moved to Washington?

    Yep- and since when does a President let the dogs out to openly manipulate a democratic process left for the People of their state to decide? Payback for Paterson not handing the senate seat over to Caroline? Then the irony would be running Caroline for Paterson’s seat. Perhaps satisfying Teddy’s dying wish?

    I do like Steele’s “racist” angle though and wish it would be pursued daily and loudly.

    Obama: Health insurance mandate no tax increase
    By BEN FELLER (AP) – 2 hours ago

    WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama says requiring people to get health insurance and fining them if they don’t would not amount to a backhanded tax increase. “I absolutely reject that notion,” the president said.

    Blanketing most of the Sunday TV news shows, Obama defended his proposed health care overhaul, including a key point of the various health care bills on Capitol Hill: mandating that people get health insurance to share the cost burden fairly among all. Those who failed to get coverage would face financial penalties.

    Obama said other elements of the plan would make insurance affordable for people, from a new comparison-shopping “exchange” to tax credits. Telling people to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase, Obama told ABC’s “This Week.”

    “What it’s saying is, is that we’re not going to have other people carrying your burdens for you anymore,” said Obama. “Right now everybody in America, just about, has to get auto insurance. Nobody considers that a tax increase.”

    Obama faces an enormous political and communications challenge in selling his health care plan as Congress debates how to pay for it all. He told CBS’ “Face the Nation” that he will keep his pledge not to raise taxes on families earning up to $250,000, and that much of the final bill — hundreds of billions of dollars over the next 10 years — can be achieved from savings within the current system. Coming up with the rest remains a key legislative obstacle.

    Obama put his support behind the idea of taxing employers that offer high-cost insurance plans.
    “I do think that giving a disincentive to insurance companies to offer Cadillac plans that don’t make people healthier is part of the way that we’re going to bring down health care costs for everybody over the long term,” Obama said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

    Obama’s network interviews were taped Friday at the White House. He became the first president to appear on five Sunday network shows in the same morning, an extraordinary effort to build public support for his top domestic priority. The goal is expand and improve health insurance coverage and rein in long-term costs.

    Yet despite so many weeks of speeches, town halls and interviews, Obama said he has found it difficult at times to make a complex topic clear and relevant. “I’ve tried to keep it digestible,” Obama said. “It’s very hard for people to get their arms around it. And that’s been a case where I have been humbled and I just keep on trying harder.”

    Obama told Univision’s “Al Punto” (“To the Point”) that the strong opposition to his plan is part of a political strategy. “Well, part of it is … that the opposition has made a decision,” he said. “They are just not going to support anything, for political reasons.”

    Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said Obama doesn’t understand Republicans’ opposition. “I don’t know anybody in my Republican conference in the Senate who’s in favor of doing nothing on health care,” McConnell said. “We obviously have a cost problem and we have an access problem.” But he told CNN’s “State of the Union” that the Democrats’ plan is simply too rushed.

  23. “His credibility is seeping away”

    In some parts of the country, he has had no credibility for quite some time now. I remember in mid-August 2008 reporting on Taylor Marsh’s blog that o was acquiring the reputation of a bullshitter in the NYC area and that if any of the bots on that site wanted to keep o from losing NY and NJ, the best thing was to keep o away from that cynical audience altogether.

    Therewith, TM cut me off her blog.

    =======================

    If this anoymous gossip is even true, then Obama must be a racist! There could be NO OTHER reason for opposing Paterson!

  25. Hmmmmm. . . . . .
    Your Paterson analysis is interesting.

    ‘Payback for Paterson not handing the senate seat over to Caroline?’

  26. TDO,

    Hahahaha. Yes, opposing Paterson is racist!

    In all seriousness, DP’s favorability is barely double digit at this point and as a New Yorker, I don’ see any way he could get elected.

    Between the month-long Legislative food fight when NOTHING got done in the state, the raises given his staff despite the recession and the huge budget shortfall, I don’t think he has a prayer. That’s why Schumer and BO want him gone. (IMHO) They don’t want a repub in the Gov Office.

  27. admin: great article!

    wbboei, I watched the Fox News sunday without POTUS, so I got some good info and questions. They had 3 CEO’s on, FedEx, OfficeDepot,Cisco. Wallace wanted their input on the economy. Each said their stocks were up anywhere from 23% to 100% yet the companies income was down dramatically. How can that happen?? How could their stocks be up and their sales down?? Could it be speculators like Soros screwing with the stock market to keep it up, while their sales are down??

    I am sorry I don’t see how a stock could be up when the company is not making money??

    Is there any more info out there about Hillary going for the Governorship of NY?? I don’t like Schumer, he was instrumental in forcing Hillary to step aside at the Democratic National Convention.

  28. Running Caroline K for Governor?

    They’d have to catch her first! She’d be running in the opposite direction.

    She didn’t even really want to be in the Senate club along with Uncle Teddy. A Governor has to do real work.

  29. When my beloved mother passed away some years back, my uncle would often mistakenly call me by her name. He was in deep grief over losing his last sibling.

    What is obama’s excuse?

  30. Sounds like to me they are scared of Guillani!! He he was Governor, he could run again for the WH, since this administration has had its share of dirty gossip, I doubt that Rudy’s would make any difference. American’s want a reformer and real one, not a hope,change candidate that all talk and NO show.

    It does make me wonder what Obama and BC was talking about in NY. I wonder if it had to do with this Patterson thing.

  31. Guiliani would have a great shot at winning. He’s popular in NYS coz of the way he handled 911 and the way he turned NYC around before that.

    I always liked Rudy, even when I used to be a dem. 😈

  32. “Yep- and since when does a President let the dogs out to openly manipulate a democratic process left for the People of their state to decide?”

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Seeing he’s already “dictated” to Colorado and Pennsylvania who to chose in the next election. Bennett and Specter. Discouraging the Party from mounting primary campaigns against either candidate.
  33. Even with the “hits” continually on Hillary, she is still more popular than BO. Could Rahm and Alexrod want her out of the cabinet? They know Patterson looks like he’s going down. So who could win in NY…Hillary. Could this be where they’d like Hillary to land to keep the gov. in Dem hands and could it be a place Bill and Hillary would like for her to be at this point. It might be a win win for both the BO and his ego and absolutely for Hillary?
  34. Mrs.Smith, Thats the way its done in CHicago, so do you think he did not have anything to do with his Senate seat manipulation??
  35. I sure hope the Supremes don’t go with what corporate America wants with this campaign reform because Obama’s 800 million dollar campaign will turn into a trillion campaigns.
  36. I dont suggest anyone going to the Lamecherry blog today unless they want to fall on the floor laughing their asses off!!
  37. Even with all the continual “hits” on Hillary, she is still more popular than BO and sits out there as a threat to him and his ego.
    Rahm and Axelrod know that Patterson is most likely to not win and they, of course want to keep the NY gov with the Dems.
    What might be a win win for them…Patterson doesn’t look like a winner. What Dem could win NY…Hillary. They could get Hillary out of the cabinet, keep a Dem gov. This would be possibly a win situation for Hillary also and Bill probably sees that and may be working out the details with BO.
    At this point…anything to get Hillary away from the BO cabinet. Let’s hope this is the real situation.
  38. Confloyd! ROFLMAO and wiping tears from my eyes! Hilarious.
    In all fairness I don’t think Me-schelle knew the fcuk what she was doing. She just dresses stupidly (is that even a word) every friggin day. Me-shelle fashionista my ass.
  39. I heard someone call him Barackdoor Obama the other day because he’s always slipping things in the back door, i nearly died with laughter.
  40. O.M.G.!!!!!!!!!
    That pic at the top of the blog is DISGUSTING!!!!!!!
    Ewwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!
    I gottat go take a bath!
    But this is hysterical – a description of the MO bondage look.
    ‘Who would pick this washed out puke green thing to cover a white top that seems part Mary Poppins, part the flying nun and part the boy scout knot tying manual………where Muchelle worries not about cleavage to attract attention, but knots the size of her husband’s head.
    I do not know if Muchelle’s girdle is in danger of exploding or what, but where in fashion sense does it state that one belt is good and two belts are twice as good?
    Who wears two belts……….especially one that looks like an ammo pack and the one on top that looks like an ammo belt for a machine gun fed magazine of the 50 caliber kind.
  41. Since we’re on lowbrow stuff today, here’s one of my many pet peeves about BO, visually speaking.
    Anyone else notice the way he jogs down the steps from Airforce 1, his elbows bent, wrists parrallel to his waist, hands sort of flapping in the breeze?
    It is SOOOOOOO annoying – almost as bad as listening to him speak.
    Did someone tell him it looks cool? is it a basketball player thing? If his hands were clenched into fists it wuld almsot look like those power walkers who pump their arms but BO puts no force into the move – just lets his elbows jiggle flaccidly while his wrists dangle.
  42. This could get real interesting. Obama raising money for Benedict Arlen Specter and racistly attacking African-American David Paterson.
    Paterson to Obama: Drop Dead:
    http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2009/09/20/2009-09-20_governor_paterson_bucks_president_obama_im_still_going_to_run_in_2010.html
    A defiant Gov. Paterson Sunday said he still plans to run for a full four-year term next year despite a stunning White House request that the poll-challenged governor step aside.
    “I’ve said time and time again I am going to run for governor next year,” Paterson said in Harlem. “My plans have not changed.”
    Paterson did not deny a Sunday Daily News report that White House political director Patrick Gaspard met with him last Monday to discuss the concerns the Obama administration has with him – and their preference he not run next year.
    The message was also relayed Friday during a Paterson dinner with Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-Queens), a long time Paterson pal who told the governor that President Obama’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, does not view a Paterson candidacy as “tenable.” [snip]
    Things could be particularly uncomfortable Monday as Paterson aides say the governor plans to attend an economic speech Obama is due to deliver in the Albany area. Paterson, according to sources, was not invited to Obama’s Wall Street speech last Monday, the day his meeting took place with Gaspard.
    Paterson received very little support Sunday, even from his closest allies, as word spread of the White House’s involvement.
    The Rev. Al Sharpton, long a Paterson supporter, sent out a non-committal statement that could be best described as muted. Sharpton said he has spoken to Paterson and Obama aides to express his concern “that we do what is best for the people of the state of New York and towards the goal of enacting the change policies in education and health that we voted for.”
    Mayor Bloomberg said he would tell Paterson what he would tell anyone who wants to run for office – “go for it.” [snip]
    In perhaps sending a signal of defiance to Obama, Paterson on Thursday, four days after the meeting with Gaspard, named Richard Fife as his campaign manager, signaling to many his intention to run next year.
    Fife, a veteran New York political operative, was a volunteer New York adviser for the Obama campaign and was an Obama delegate to the Democratic National Convention. The message to Paterson not only represents the White House trying to heavily influence a top state race, but also is a case of the first black president pressuring New York’s first black governor to step aside.
    A former Paterson aide said the White House involvement is the final nail in Paterson’s coffin.
    “He won’t be able to raise money and for all intents of purposes, he’s been put into a lame duck situation and when you’re a lame duck you have less leverage to negotiate a safe landing spot,” the former aide said.
  43. Has anyone seen this:
    Obama Senior Advisor Recommends Shooting Down Israeli Jets
    Last year Zbigniew Brzezinski, adviser to former US president Jimmy Carter, described the Bush administration’s policy of maintaining the option of military action against Iran as “counterproductive,” and recently, he said, that scrapping the missile defense of our Eastern European allies was the right thing to do.
    In a little noticed interview with the Daily Beast, Brzezinski, who is known to be anti-Israel, suggests that Obama do more than just refuse to support an Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear sites — he is recommending that Obama must give the order to shoot down Israeli aircraft as they cross Iraqi airspace:
    DB: How aggressive can Obama be in insisting to the Israelis that a military strike might be in America’s worst interest?
    Brzezinski: We are not exactly impotent little babies. They have to fly over our airspace in Iraq. Are we just going to sit there and watch?
    DB: What if they fly over anyway?
    Brzezinski: Well, we have to be serious about denying them that right. That means a denial where you aren’t just saying it. If they fly over, you go up and confront them. They have the choice of turning back or not. No one wishes for this but it could be a Liberty in reverse.
    The Weekly Standard adds: Contrary to Brezinski’s half-hearted disclaimer that no one wishes for such an outcome, there are plenty on the left who would delight in a pitched battle between the United States and Israel. Democrats in Congress routinely support resolutions affirming Israel’s right to take whatever steps it deems necessary to assure its own national defense. And Obama has at least paid lip service to the concept. But hostility to Israel among the rank and file is very real on the left — and among “realists.”
    So conjure the image — the Obama administration sending U.S. aircraft up to protect Iran’s airspace and it’s nuclear installations from an attack by a democracy that is one of America’s closest allies. Unfortunately, this may not be so hard to imagine in Israel, where the number of people who believe Obama is pro-Israel is at just 4 percent — and falling. And given Obama’s (literally) submissive posture to the Saudis, his indulgence of the Iranians, and his simultaneously hard-line approach to Israel, it seems even some of Obama’s supporters can savor the possibility of a “reverse Liberty.”
  44. ADMIN!
    I was just getting ready to post that! as usual, you’re quick on the draw.
    So I guess DP’s (semi)officially out.
    Does that mean Cuomo’s in?
  45. Mika’s dad.
    No wonder she’s such a loon.
    What a dangerous idea, suggesting we shoot down Israeli planes traveling into American controlled Iraqi airspace.
  46. I think that’s part of it but I think it’s also the fact that DP doesn’t stand a chance of winning the governorship and almost any repub would beat him.
    BTW, I found this succinct post about BO’s shell game on healthcare and immigration. He basically admits he’s trying to legalize anyone here illegally
    From NQ;
    “Even though I do not believe we can extend coverage to those who are here illegally, I also don’t simply believe we can simply ignore the fact that our immigration system is broken,” Mr. Obama said Wednesday evening in a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. “That’s why I strongly support making sure folks who are here legally have access to affordable, quality health insurance under this plan, just like everybody else.
    Mr. Obama added, “If anything, this debate underscores the necessity of passing comprehensive immigration reform and resolving the issue of 12 million undocumented people living and working in this country once and for all.”
    So now, Obama wants to “legalize the status” of 12 million undocumented aliens living in the US. Wow, 12 million new voters for the Democratic Party to reelect our Parasite in Chief.
  47. Basil9, Paterson is defiant. If he stays in as he says, Cuomo will have a problem. Paterson will be buffetted but it could get ugly. Imagine if Carl McCall decides to campaign for Paterson. Much juicy drama potential here.
    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/21/nyregion/21paterson.html?hp
    Gov. David A. Paterson defiantly vowed to run for election next year despite the White House‘s urging that he withdraw from the New York governor’s race.
    Appearing tired and agitated as reporters crowded him at a parade in Harlem on Sunday, the governor said that he would not abandon his campaign to seek a full term.
    “I have said time and time again that I am running for governor
  48. If he legalizes those 12 million that is already here, the rethugs will win back the WH in 2012. He is playing into the hands of the republicans. It will turn back totally republican in 2010 and the WH 2012. I remember those protesters picketting for the illegals to go back home, people are still mad about that.
  49. Admin,
    I was living in NJ and not following NYS politics much when the McCall thing happened but from what I’ve read, Cuomo decided not to run against him coz he was AA? Is that right? So if McCall campaigns for DP that would mean Cuomo against 2 AA’s? Is that the gist of it?
    (now I’m gonna google)
    confloyd,
    Not if those 12 million newly legalized people vote!
  50. Ohhhhhhhhhh!
    Now I get it.
    Sheeeeeesh! You’re right about juicy drama!
    “In 2002 McCall officially announced his campaign against Republican incumbent George Pataki. After his primary opponent, former US housing secretary Andrew Cuomo, withdrew from the race, McCall entered the general election as the uncontested Democratic candidate, but lost to Pataki.
    McCall was the favorite of the Democratic establishment but he faced a tough challenge from Cuomo which almost split the party. Cuomo proved to be a better fundraiser, and McCall’s own campaign war chest was heavily depleted in the primary battle. Although McCall did not make any negative attacks, his close supporter Charles B. Rangel stated that the McCall camp would not necessarily endorse Cuomo in the general election should the latter win. This backfired as some Italian Americans interpreted that as racism, while many of Cuomo’s supporters refused to unite after McCall won the nomination.
    Money would prove to be a handicap in the general election, as DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe stated that he would not channel large sums of money to McCall’s campaign unless the gap could be closed with Pataki, which McCall never managed to do.
  51. YIKES!
    After readng more about the McCall candidacy I understand where the current WH race-baiting strategy began!
    Rangle insinuated back in 2002 that AA’s might not support Cuomo, angering italain Americans.
    No wonder the race-baiting ploy worked so well. The dims have been honing it for a long time.
  52. Basil9, already this Paterson stuff is hurting Obama. No one is talking about his publicity stunt on TV. No one is talking healthcare. All people want to talk about now is Paterson. Check out the comments on the NYTimes story. Here are some samples, edited and excerpted:
    http://community.nytimes.com/comments/www.nytimes.com/2009/09/21/nyregion/21paterson.html?sort=oldest&offset=1
    Paterson is a disaster. He really has got to go.
    So now the President wants to run State politics as well as Federal politics and key business segments.
    Excuse me– but Obama should ask Bloomberg who overturned two voter referenda on term limits to run for and undoubtedly get a third term ( so he can create more financial damage to the city — it’s there in the records, folks.)
    Why is Obama picking on Patterson, who has a right to run.
    President Obama will soon offer advice on which toothpaste is best for us.
    It is for registered Democratic Party members to decide how popular or otherwise a particular candidate is. That is how Democracies work. Not by diktat from above as is being attempted in this case.
    Bless you, Mr. President! Thousands of New Yorkers have been asking the same. I just hope Paterson listens.
    Does the President have a world view that encompasses a need to control everything? Are his morals and ethics above all, the most important even in a democracy? Do the people of New York need this intervention? He is currently like a radar system out of control,scanning everything in sight, identifying and responding to its own needs, its own programmed prerogatives. Like the aunt or uncle who visits during the holidays and feels a need to comment on all phases of your family life.
    Although I am a supporter of President Obama, I have to say this behavior makes me a bit concerned… i understand why we must have Government oversight of Wall Street and health care, simply because these have been left naked to the greed of the lobbyists and corporate monopolies, but to interfere in the inside politics of a state just makes the battle in those aforementioned, legitimate public opinion battles that more conflicting and confusing for those who unsure about government staying away entirely. President Obama needs to focus on what is at hand, and stop worrying about what Giuliani is going to do… let the state deal with this, NY has plenty of powerful politicians to suggest to Gov. Patterson to step aside… if anything, what the heck, let the primary decide, as it should.
    There appears to be no limits on the areas our new President wants to control: the business world and its CEOs, the health insurance world of us all, and now the very electoral process itself. Frightening stuff.
  53. I’m actually of the opinion that Patterson’s defiance will help him. I like an underdog and a fighter. Patterson needs to take the Hillary stance, go down fighting.
  62. Admin,
    Those NYT comments are astonishing!
    WOW!
    Dot, There is no way in he!! DP wins NY if he runs. His favorabilities are down to 20%. He is a laughingstock and an embarrassment to New Yorkers. It won’t happen. Defiance can be admirable but that seems to be the only redeeming quality DP has. He sure can’t govern worth a d@mn. His own party shut down the state for over a month and he was powerless to stop it. Plus, he’s another one of those race-baiters, saying stuff like the reason people are against him is racist, the reason people are fighting BO’s HCR is racist. We don’t want him!
  63. Some of the internet sites are trying to portray the new poll numbers are he is Holding his own. He has gone from a +30 to a low -14, presently standing at a low of -9.
    Anyway you look at it, that is a hexx of a drop. Anyone sustatining a 39 point drop, within six months, would and should be taking notice.
    Instead, he asked an AA not to run, the group he is backed by almost 100%. So, what has he done for you other than been the first? He is almost like those women who sleep their way to the top, who are the first (he bullied and strong armed his way to the job). Those women figured out a way for a women to make it, but the rest of us do not want to make it that way.
  64. ROTF!
    Repub Chairman and AA Michael Steele implies BO is racist for calling on DP not to run for givernor.
    “I found that to be stunning, that the White House would send word to one of only two black governors in the country not to run for reelection,” Steele, the chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), said on CBS’s Face The Nation.
    Steele was commenting on a report in The New York Times that said an intermediary of President Barack Obama sent word to Paterson that he should not run, considering his low approval ratings. Asked by host Bob Schieffer if race played a role in the White House’s decision to ask Paterson to back off from campaigning, Steele said he didn’t think so.
    “It raises a curious point for me. I think Gov. Paterson’s numbers are about the same as Gov. Corzine’s. The president is with Gov. Corzine,” Steele said. The RNC chairman was referring to Gov. Jon Corzine, the Democratic New Jersey governor who is facing a tough reelection bid this year.
    Steele also said he would be interested in black leaders’ response to the White House request.
    “That will be very interesting to see what the response by black leadership around the country for the president calling Gov. Paterson to step down,” Steele said.
    I always liked Rudy, even when I used to be a dem.
  67. Carol,
    Yyou PLEASE!
    You’re entitled to your opinion and I’m entitled to mine.
    I lived in Manhattan when he was cleaning up crime, sweeping drug dealers off the streets, and helping turn the city around.
    I admire what the way he handled 911, which I saw from across the river in NJ. I have interviewed firefighters who spent months at the ‘pile’ digging for their comrades. To a man, they respect Rudy. Does he have flaws? Of course. No one’s perfect. But he has a heck of a lot of good points, too. So let’s agree to disagree.
  68. Why have we come to the point in our democracy wher Primary is a dirty word. Patterson was never elected to be governor. He should not have a lock on it. There should be a primary and let the voters decide.
    I live in Ny. and I am sick of the situation. My vote for a Hillary delegate was never counted. Now, Cuomo who is a popular dem choice can’;t even dare to run in a primary because he will be called a racist. The situation is pathetic and out of control. Patterson has had a chance. He did a fine thing when he nixed Broadwater, but he screwed up badly over CK and his racist comments have turned off many. He just has not inspired any confidence or excitement.
    Just spare us Guiliani. Anyone from NY knows what a psycho control freak he is….and can be very nasty.
  69. Guiliani was a disaster for NYC schools. His handling of 9 / 11 was comparable to GWs. Any human being can go to funerals and be sympathetic. Remember that Guiliani was the one who put NY,s disaster center in the Trade Towers AFTER they had been attacked the first time. He was also credited to a degree with the communication breakdown between the fire and police which resulted in firefighters being stranded in the buildings before the collapse.
  70. I’m not a Guiliani fan. I found him condescending and arrogant during the last election. He was in the right place (if there is such a thing in such a terrible situation) at the right time for 9/11 but I think anyone in the same place would have acted with the same leadership qualities. Other than that, I don’t see him as that special.
    Patterson can’t do the job. It has nothing to do with his disability but has everything to do with lack of confidence and leadership skills.
    I would love for Cuomo to beat the odds.
  71. Oh Jeeeeeze!
    It was pointed out elsewhere that Steele is playing Alinsky Rule #4.
    Make the enemy play by its own rules.
    “rub the left’s face in its own bottom-feeding racial demagoguery..”
    And his point that NJ’ss Gov Corzine’s abyssmal polling numbers are similar to Paterson’s and yet BO isn’t telling the white guy to get out …..Priceless.
  72. Basil9: “Anyone else notice the way he jogs down the steps from Airforce 1, his elbows bent, wrists parrallel to his waist, hands sort of flapping in the breeze?”
    Yes, that is one my main annoyances as well…I can always hit the mute button but sometimes get caught having to look at him going all (he thinks) GQ.
  73. Carol,
    I know about the firefighter issues. I know guiliani isn’t perfect. he’s not my favorite person in the world bu I do like him and i would take him over paterson any day.
    As far as his kids and ex-wife not liking him – so what. Lots of marriages end with bitterness. Big deal. As long as a politician’s private life doesn’t impact us – like Edwards covering up the mistress issue which if known could have made HRC the winner in Iowa and everything would be different now – I’m not interested. In a competency match-up between Rudy and Paterson there is no contest. That’s my opinion of course. Like I said before, you can think what you like but don’t denigrate my opinions. Thank you.
  74. the only bright spot today is Hillary’s poll numbers. Well, other than Bambi’s dropping numbers. I also think that the pollsters are padding his number A LOT. I swear everyone I know that voted for him is disgusted. My brother is smothering to death.
  75. dot48,
  77. Basil. You are of course welcome to your opinion and i will continue to express mine.
    Guiliani very publicly carried on an adulterous affair while his two young children lived in Gracie mansion with his wife. His wife found out that he was leaving her from a press conference. At the end of his term most New Yorkers would not have hired him to take out their garbage.
    Like I said, I lived in NYC during the earlier days of Rudy’s reign as mayor and I found he did a lot of good things. About his affair – he’s not the first and he won’t be the last. Using that as a measure of support for a politician should have ruled out BC and by extension, HRC, for her complicity, for you. Obviously that’s not the case or you wouldn’t be posting here. Heck, kids are used that way in so-called intact families. I’m not saying it’s right. I’m just stating what the reality is.
    I’ve had SIL’s who (unbeknownst to me) blackmailed my efforts to have access to my brother’s kids coz they were jealous . . . of me. Power struggles happen anytime there’s more than 1 human involved I’ve seen a lot of women play real dirty when it comes to kids.
He told me over the weekend that Bambi has went back on all of his promises and that if his mind didn’t change he’d never vote again. See this is what is going to hurt the next Democrat, the change bullshit is just that bullshit and people got all hyped up about it and believed it. Now brother tells me that it was just “campaign speak” and he guesses that it wasn’t meant to be a promise to be kept.
    I just look at him lovingly, all the while thinking to myself, “I tried to tell you”.
    He knows how I feel about Bambi and his deceitful ways and the primary theft.
  91. Paterson really stood up to the Obama/Kennedy crowd and to the media over the appointment of Gillibrand instead of Caroline K to the Senate. I hope Gillibrand and the Clintons will stand up for him now. (And that the bad news is media hype, not real.)
  92. I’m now kinda sure its gonna link this woman, Buffy Wicks. If it is, couldnt happen to a nicer person.
    Andrew Breitbart is teasing a major story to appear on Monday and he’s hinted
    that it will come from “left field”. Patterico thinks it will involve the
    National Endowment for the Arts (patterico.com/2009/09/19/breitbart-promises-
    new-bombshell-from-left-field) but a stronger hint comes from blogger/satirist “IowaHawk” in comments at minx.cc/?post=292565.
    The last direct links (without identifying her) to a picture (link) of Buffy Wicks, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement. She was mentioned in Breitbart’s penultimate scoop about the NEA asking artists to promote Obama’s policies. Later he says it has nothing to do with “personal life” scandals and then – after she’s identified – he says that he “f[***]ed up, royally” and says: Now shut alla your mouths. By tomorrow PM things will be clearer. What exactly the last means isn’t clear; he might have provided a picture of the wrong person, or he might have realized that he shouldn’t have linked to her photo.
    Could Wicks be a red herring? Is this another story about ACORN, perhaps
    detailing a close connection to the Obama administration or the mainstream media covering for them? Could it be about something entirely different? Others have mentioned names such as Patrick Gaspard (Obama’s Director of the Office of Political Affairs; a la Karl Rove; formerly with the Service Employees International Union)
    and Ari Emanuel (brother of Rahm Emanuel and a Hollywood player). For
    unconfirmed background information on the latter, see “Ari (Ariel) Emanuel: The Obama/Media Connection (Movies,Arianna Huffington and The Producer of “An Inconvenient Truth”..Al Gore’s film)”
    As for a possible ACORN connection, from this:
    Obama’s campaign also created 400 “neighborhood teams,” each responsible for coordinating efforts in eight to 12 precincts that could cover anywhere from a few city blocks to an entire county, said Obama’s Missouri director, Buffy Wicks. Each team is focused on about 3,700 Obama supporters. And each team has volunteer directors for local canvassing, phone banks, data management and volunteer recruitment, she said.
    “It’s different than what other campaigns have done in the past,” Wicks said. “These teams together write their own field plan and know what their vote goal is — how many votes they need to get out in their area.
    “We’re giving average folks the keys to the campaign, literally,” Wicks said.
    And, in March 2008, she was deputy field director in for the Obama campaign in Texas
  93. dot48,
    That’s sad, him saying he may never vote again. (trying not to laugh).
    Like the high school boy who gets dumped and says he’ll never love anyone again.
    boo hoo. I hope you can pull him out of his misery and enlighten him about HRC and the few other decent Dems left. That list seems to grow shorter by the day, doesn’t it?
  94. If it is her about to be nailed, she’s the Bitch and i don’t use that word lightly who ran bambi’s caucus fraud against Hillary in Texas, I’d happily see her strung up.
  95. Jan,
    It’s a brilliant clip. Chapell is outstanding.
    It’s the perfect commentary on racism.
    I found it laugh-out-loud funny but I have a dark sense of humor.
  96. The good thing about Bambi’s overkill on the tee vee + Letterman tomorrow night is that by the time he’s finished, his disapproval ratings may hit 65%. The. chickens. are. coming. home. to. roost.
  98. Obama seeks to steal show and show steel at G20
    By Stephen Collinson
    WASHINGTON — High foreign hopes for Barack Obama will jar with political reality in the form of the US president’s frayed domestic standing this week, at the G20 summit in Pittsburgh and at the United Nations.
    The G20 meeting, from Thursday, marks Obama’s debut as the host of a major international summit, so he will be seeking to distill his popularity abroad and political charisma into a position of true global authority.
    But Obama will meet fellow leaders of developed and developing nations, bruised by eight months of combat over his ambitious agenda in Washington’s corrosive political jungle.
    Things were so different in April, when Obama debuted on the world stage at the last G20 summit in London, riding a wave of euphoria following his historic inauguration and with domestic approval ratings of more than 60 percent.
    Just four months on, with his popularity pummeled by the battle over his landmark health care reform drive, Obama is clinging to majority approval in Gallup’s daily tracking poll with 51 percent. Many of Obama’s top priorities — including climate change legislation and financial regulatory reform on which G20 partners are demanding action — are facing heavy weather in Congress.
    “The challenge for President Obama is to create an environment where the US is not only seen as having an attractive leader, but the US is seen as setting an agenda which the world is willingly following,” said Jon Alterman of the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
    Global leaders are watching the health care debate to see if Obama is in command or “can be defied with impunity,” said Alterman.
    The G20 summit comes in a frenetic week of international diplomacy, which could have lasting implications for Obama’s global stature, also including the UN General Assembly in New York.
    Obama aides argue that he has transformed the image of the United States abroad following the transatlantic schisms of George W. Bush’s presidency, a view backed up by recent polling.
    But there is little evidence so far that he has changed the paradigm of festering global conflicts.
    For example, his administration has so far been unable to get Israelis and Palestinians to agree to open peace talks — despite intense diplomacy.
    Iran meanwhile has met Obama’s open hand with a clenched fist, as a crucial moment approaches in the nuclear showdown with the Islamic Republic, with talks between Tehran and world powers looming on October 1.
    Just last week, Obama imposed duties on Chinese tire imports, stoking new fears of US protectionism.
    And with the Afghan war’s unpopularity among Americans catching up with public opposition in Europe, Obama will soon face a lonely decision on whether to deploy more US troops.
    Laying the groundwork for the G20, Obama said Saturday in his weekly radio address, that leaders must end the “reckless risk-taking and irresponsibility” in global finance that sparked the worst economic crisis in decades. But despite the tough talk, the US position seems set to fall short of European demands for sanctions against finance firms that lavish multi-million dollar bonuses on employees.
    This may be another case of foreign hopes outpacing Obama’s capacity to forge domestic change, as lawmakers may water down his own regulatory reforms and he has accused Wall Street lobbyists of trying to kill them off altogether. Obama may also be at odds with deficit-conscious Asian and European leaders whose nations have already escaped recession and want to wind up massive stimulus spending.
    As G20 summit host, Obama has the chance to stamp his authority on the agenda, but aides are already cautioning against expectations of eye-catching “deliverables.” “This is not a trillion dollar summit, we do not expect major announcements of new significant financial commitments,” said Mike Froman, Obama’s deputy national security advisor for international economic affairs. The G20 venue in the economically regenerating former steel town of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is symbolic, and a reminder of political calculations at play within Obama’s administration. Pennsylvania, a mix of post-industrial cities and rural up-state conservative and working class regions, was the state which effectively pushed Obama past the winning post in his historic 2008 presidential election victory.
    It will do him no harm to be seen leading the global fight for recovery in a state he hopes will help push him to a repeat win in the 2012 election.
  99. 2009Obama’s Strategic Confusion
    His move on missile defense raises troubling questions.
    By BRIAN T. KENNEDY
    President Obama’s decision Thursday to abandon the so-called Third Site of missile defense systems in Poland and the Czech Republic already is generating fierce debate and causing great consternation. The decision is a slap to America’s Polish and Czech allies, who had braved Russian intimidation in agreeing to host the sites. But Mr. Obama’s step also will have profound implications on many of America’s other alliances, especially in Asia.
    One major problem is the flimsy strategic rationale offered by the administration for its decision. The cancellation of the Third Site supposedly is justifiable because Iran’s long-range ballistic missile program is not sufficiently advanced to pose an immediate threat. But of course that is exactly when such a defensive system should be built, tested and put into operation. Such a system, along with other components of a multilayered missile defense, would discourage the Iranians from finishing such a program by convincing them it would not succeed. Instead the U.S. proposes an underfunded 10-year plan to address shorter-range threats. That the administration would offer such a shallow explanation for ending the Third Site sends a bad signal about the seriousness with which Mr. Obama views nuclear threats in general.
    That is only one aspect of Mr. Obama’s mistake, however, because the Third Site was only partly about missile defense. No one ever believed that the basing of radars in the Czech Republic and 10 interceptors in Poland was a masterstroke of defensive strategic geometry. The interceptors could indeed stop a handful of Iranian long-range ballistic missiles, but sea- or space-based technologies remained the ultimate goal.
    Rather, a central purpose of missile defense in Europe, on the doorstep of Russia, was alliance building. Its virtue was that it persuaded America’s allies that our common defense included a global ballistic missile defense system. In the near term it was to demonstrate that when it came to the threat posed by Iran, the U.S. and its NATO allies would stand together: Iran—aided and abetted by Russia—would not hold Europe hostage and the NATO powers would confront the threat of nuclear weapons in the hands of a radical Islamic regime. Mr. Obama’s biggest mistake is that, just as the Third Site was meant to build alliances, its cancellation will undermine them.
    This will set America’s allies in Asia to worrying. After all, with the Obama administration having effectively abandoned Europe, what can allies in Asia, such as new Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama in Japan and President Ma Ying-jeou in Taiwan, take from Thursday’s announcement?
    Mr. Hatoyama will have to wonder how far the U.S.-Japanese security partnership now extends. The U.S. alliance with Japan, now into its seventh decade, is not one we can relinquish or take for granted. Yet Mr. Obama’s Third Site move raises questions about whether the U.S. will be willing or able to help Japan address two significant threats: the military build-up within China, and North Korea’s nuclear program. The best approach for everyone concerned would be for the U.S. and Japan to build defenses together that would protect both themselves and the rest of Asia. Yet absent such leadership from Washington, today Japan is being forced to develop alone a sea-based missile defense system to stop an attack on the Japanese homeland.
    Meanwhile, Beijing’s short- and medium-range missiles must certainly worry Taipei and Washington. Although there are enormous economic reasons for there to be good relations between mainland China and Taiwan, those missiles have been placed there for a reason. They are meant to warn Taiwan that military resistance will be futile and that under certain circumstances, the people on Taiwan could be obliterated. But serious U.S. discussion about missile defense for Taiwan is nowhere to be found and is now unlikely to happen. The simple reality is that, absent a missile defense that can stop Chinese ballistic missiles, the U.S. will be hard pressed to maintain security commitments in Asia given the advances China has made to its offensive nuclear forces. The U.S. Seventh Fleet, however capable, cannot withstand the kind of nuclear missiles and nuclear-tipped cruise missiles that China could employ against it. And because America lacks adequate conventional military means as well, the U.S. would have to resort to full-scale nuclear war to defend its Asian allies from an attack by China. While no one would ever envision hostilities rising to this level, no serious policy maker can prefer this state of vulnerability to the kind of stability a robust defensive system provides. And this isn’t even to discuss the threat posed by nuclear weapons in the hands of an unstable, unpredictable regime like Pyongyang.
    Current land-based systems in Alaska and California can perhaps stop a handful of North Korean missiles launched at the West Coast of the U.S. But until the U.S. is prepared to build a multi-layered system—including using space-based interceptors—to stop any Russian or Chinese missile, the U.S. cannot truly defend the free world. During such time both Russia and China will be able to exert what influence they can since the U.S. appears unwilling to confront their objections even when it comes to America’s national survival.
    The cancellation of the Third Site demonstrates the Obama administration’s complete confusion over strategic defense. Any real system would include the defense of the U.S. homeland and allies around the world. Such a system would be prepared to stop any ballistic missile that could cause the U.S. or its allies harm. With Mr. Obama’s Third Site move, the U.S. is not merely abandoning a system to stop long-range Iranian ballistic missiles from hitting Europe but are also foregoing a system to stop Russian or Chinese ballistic missiles from destroying the U.S. Is it any wonder we can abandon Europe or Asian allies when we do not believe the American homeland worthy of defense?
    This strategic vulnerability cannot last forever. Either the U.S. and its allies will realize the folly of their ways and build strategic defenses or a day will come when they will pay a heavy price.
  100. Just wanted to stop by and say how I am so sick of seeing BO on television 24/7. I’m one of those millions of Americans currently unemployed. And thinking about all the years and money I spent on higher education and not seeing any of the rewards for it is one thing. But the fact that my government doesn’t even consider me worthy as a human being to deserve health care makes me angry every time I see BZero on television lying through his teeth about “reforming” the health care system while he’s been in bed with the health insurance companies since his days in Chicago. Just looking at liars like Obama not doing the job he was elected to do literally makes me sick while he gets to vacation in million dollar homes and Michelle can waste thousands of dollars on ugly designer frocks. Our country deserves better!
  101. HEHS .. and he’s gonna bailout the newspapers next. All I can say is how about a bailout for “MainSteet”. Fuck the big companies, let em eat kale. I’m sick of the little man getting kicked.
  102. dot48, I haven’t heard about plans to bailout the newspapers but I wouldn’t be surprised. After all, he needs the media in the palm of his hand if he wants any chance of getting reelected. It makes perfect sense for him to own the media outlets and determine how they report stories by dangling money of their heads. The media is in the red because their product is crap. If they need a “bailout” why don’t their billionaire owners put in their own cash to save themselves. I’m also sick of billions going to big companies and unjust wars when that money could be spent towards providing quality health care to every American and helping kids pay off their college loans. It is seriously time for a revolution. I don’t care if you’re a Republican, Democrat, or Independent. It’s time for us to flood the streets and overthrow those who give our taxpayer dollars to billionaires and bankers.
  103. If he bails out the media, I have to wonder if he is saving something that is no longer relavent. If they do reach anyone, it is the elderly, which not suppose to be his target audience.
  104. Well, my daughter just bought me a birthday present, one I have been wanting for a while, she finally found it. She found the book “Shock Doctrine”. I just read the first 3 pages and OMG, I just can’t imagine how evil the power people are in the world.
  105. Oh Thanks everyone! I found another tidbit on our favorite evil doers, Soros. Take a look, what stood out to me is that he was opposed to the Clinton administration. The RWN have tried to tie Soros fortune to BC, since most of it was made during the Clinton administration.
    America’s Global Role
    by George Soros
    05 JUN 2003
    “… I am profoundly opposed to the Bush administration’s policies, not only in Iraq but altogether. My opposition is much more profound than it was in the case of the Clinton administration. I believe the Bush administration is leading the United States and the world in the wrong direction. In the past, my philanthropy focused on defeating communism and helping with the transition from closed societies to open societies in the former Soviet empire. Now I would go so far as to say that the fight for a global open society has to be fought in the United States. In short, America ought to play a very different role in the world than it is playing today.
    … The concept of “open society” was developed by philosopher Karl R. Popper, whose book Open Society and Its Enemies argued that totalitarian ideologies — such as communism and fascism — posed a threat to an open society because they claimed to have found the final solution. The ultimate truth is beyond human reach. Those who say they are in possession of it are making a false claim, and they can enforce it only by coercion and repression. So Popper derived the principles of freedom and democracy — the same principles that President Bush championed in his February speech on Iraq — from the recognition that we may be wrong.
    That brings us to the crux of the matter. Bush makes absolutely no allowance for the possibility that we may be wrong, and he has no tolerance for dissenting opinion. If you are not with us you are against us, he proclaims. …
    The current world order is a distorted form of a global open society. It is distorted because we have global markets but we do not have global political institutions. As a consequence, we are much better at producing private goods than taking care of public goods such as preserving peace, protecting the environment and ensuring economic stability, progress and social justice. This is not by accident
  106. JanH, maybe bailing out the media would be a good thing because it would ensure the final coffin in the corporate mainstream media’s grave. The majority of Americans would no longer trust the media if Obama gave it money. We would just have FOX and the rest of the media would be turned into the Huffington Post. Then maybe, just maybe, we’ll think of other ways to build something from the ashes that we could respect again.
    I get most of my news filtered by c-list political blogs and individual blogs I trust. If I need something from a news source I’ll go to the BBC. I do not trust the American broadcast companies to provide us with anything except amusing youtube clips of reporters making an ass out of themselves.
  107. Birdgal, I agree it is a dying business but it is because of the crappy quality more so than the internet. Even with the internet I find myself hardly ever visiting websites of newspapers or FOX, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, etc. I only go to the NYTimes to read interesting stories on the arts as well as Krugman and he’s even been a disappointment lately too. Almost everything else is trash and doesn’t deserve the time to be read.
  108. The reason I despise CNN is they run an ‘Update” streaming across the bottom of TV ‘Israeli fire kills 2 Palestinians”. Thus, you average moron thinks. ‘Gee, why did Israel kill2 innocent Pals”…What theu leave out is the 2 Palestinians killed were terrorists who were attempting to plant bombs on the Gazza border fence. This type of reporting, much like all MSM, whether on Israel or biased in favor of Obama, or anti-Hillary is why MSM lacks complete credibility on almost all matters…It is a sad indictment as traditional we had a media which really acted as a check and balance system on Government. Off course all reporters/broadcasters had their own political leanings, but they use to do their job of reporting independ of those views. Today, we see a media more intent on promoting their agenda, whether left or right, depedning on whom you watch. This is very bad for the country and I never see the days of reporters like Cronkite, Brinkley, et. al, returning.
  109. Here I am reading this book and find another evil doer, and guess where he taught college……you guessed it ….University of Chicago.
    I have to ask why are all the evil doers from Chicago?? Maybe we should rename the city Shitcago, since all the crap is directly out of that city.
  110. jbstonesfan, I think you and JanH are the ones who know alot about Israel. I want to know at one time was there not many beachfront resorts? Were they all messed up due to war?
  111. HighlyEducatedHillarySupporter Says:
    —————————-
    hmmm…you could be right.
  112. confloyd,
    There are still beachfront resorts, some very beautiful ones but all of Israel including inland are always on high alert. Anytime I have been there, I have practically tripped over soldiers no matter where we went.
    Tel Aviv also has beautiful beaches along it’s coastline.
  113. jbstonesfan, I thought so, I had seen a show a few years ago that talked about how beautiful the beaches were and how it was a shame the constant war threat keeps happening in such a beautiful area.
  114. The shock and awe that happened on 9/11 delivered the shock doctrine to America. Bush put in some social programs to throw us off the scent and now Obama will bankrupt us and have to remove them. Obama is the sequel to GWB. He is not what he says he is, he is no liberal, he has put NO liberal program in. None of the bills for the exception of the ones he has given to corporations have passed. This healthcare bill is to get rid of medicare/social security.
    This book makes it very clear what they are doing.
  115. from a poster @ BP
    ******************
    Obama didn’t want to submit a “detailed,” plan on health care because they said that when the Clinton’s released their plan, the opposition tore it apart. But the Clinton’s health care plan was defeated by in intense lobbying campaign of $500 million. Plus, Bob Dole admitted later that the GOP decided that they would NEVER let Clinton pass health care because they didn’t want him to have any success. But the Clinton’s did reach across the aisle and they did have a detailed plan that was very comprehensive. And they were very serious, informed, and willing to compromise.
    Obama has no where near the opposition that the Clinton’s had. He is ACTING like it, but you can’t compare it. Obama has had special interests AND the media behind him. It’s the public that has defected.
    Obama’s approach has been the total opposite. He never submitted a plan, but had congress work on bits and pieces in committees. The details kept changing. Then, when information was released, the WH didn’t discuss the issues, they just attacked people as being crazy right fringe lunatics. There was no discussion. Obama’s town halls were total media manipulation with prepared questions to promote his “plan.” The GOP has said over and over they want to work on health care, but the Democrats have frozen them out.
    The Clinton plan was defeated by money.
    The Obama plan will be defeated by arrogance.
    Big difference.
    realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/09/20/president_obama_john_boehner_on_meet_the_press_98395.html
    Rascal // September 20, 2009 at 9:26 pm
    Maryykate,
    In the above link – Boehner and Graham spoke about concerns that Americans have – so very, very true.
    “SEN. GRAHAM: Yeah. Meet with the Wyden-Bennett senators, seven Republicans and seven Democrats who have come up with a compromise that requires everyone to be covered but allows you to be covered through the private sector, and it’s deficit neutral, and do something serious about tort reform and we’re off to the races. He’s changed his rhetoric because the speech was a disaster. What he’s trying to sell to the American people, they don’t buy. They don’t believe we’re going to cut Medicare the way we say we are. They don’t believe we’ll stop spending and pull a trigger to make it more responsible when it gets to a certain level. So the president’s saying things that people want to hear, but the details don’t add up. He can be on every news show until the end of time. If he doesn’t get the Republicans and Democrats in a room and get off the TV, we’re never going to solve this problem.
    MR. GREGORY: Leader Boehner, final point on this, and it’s a political point. The president has accused Republicans of dusting off the old playbook from ‘93, ‘94. But there are some political professionals who say the Democrats could lose a lot of seats next year. Do you think a repeat of 1994 is possible if they get health care?
    REP. BOEHNER: I don’t know whether it’s possible with or without health care, but I can tell you right now is that the American people are more engaged in their government than at any time in our history. The American people are holding their members of Congress accountable for what they do and what they don’t do. Now, and when people get this engaged, votes to raise taxes, votes for cap and trade, votes for a stimulus bill and bailouts are not very popular at home, and I’m looking forward to a good year next year.”
  117. Gonzotex, I don’t believe a single thing those two bozo’s say, there in just as deep as Bambi is to screw the American middle class. High theatrics is what those two are good at, as most of the congress and senate. We are screwed if we don’t find populas candidates.
  118. Confloyd: there are degrees of evil and one way to calibrate them is by the aggregate harm they do to society. On that scale, Soros and his little puppet Bambi are definitely primus inter pares–first among equals. Boehner is actually a decent guy. There are many things I could accuse Mr. Obama of, but decency is not one of them.
  119. Lets hope that whatever Mr. Breitbart brings forward tomorrow ties ACORN schemes to Mr. Obama. Let us also hope it is nothing trivial.
  120. wbboei, do you know where I can see this info that Breitbart is bringing tomorrow? I could not find it at Breitbart. I am at work tonight so I have time to do a little research.
  121. Supposedly the info that Breitbart is coming out with tomorrow will be at noon. Someone said that tonight is like waiting on Christmas Eve.
  122. oh its out and its good.
    big hollywood. breitbart.com/mflynnjnolte/2009/09/20/pregame-report-the-nea-conference-call/
    On August 25th 2009, Big Hollywood’s Patrick Courrielche broke the story of a conference call he attended with other “rising artist and art community luminaries”:………………………….
    Backed by the full weight of President Barack Obama’s call to service and the institutional weight of the NEA, the conference call was billed as an opportunity for those in the art community to inspire service in four key categories, and at the top of the list were “health care” and “energy and environment.” The service was to be attached to the President’s United We Serve campaign, a nationwide federal initiative to make service a way of life for all Americans.
    It sounded, how should I phrase it…unusual, that the NEA would invite the art community to a meeting to discuss issues currently under vehement national debate. I decided to call in, and what I heard concerned me.
    Within 48 hours of this phone call, 21 arts organizations endorsed President Obama’s health-care reform plan. Within days, Rock the Vote started an all out blitz that included a “health care design contest.” ………………………………………….
    “…16 of the groups and affiliated organizations received nearly $2 million in grants from the National Endowment for the Arts in the 150 days before the conference call. According to a Washington Times analysis of NEA records, more than $1 million of that total came from the stimulus package…………………………………………………….
    But, there is even a larger issue that hasn’t yet received much attention in the press. Among the Obama Administration officials on the call were Buffy Wicks, Office of Public Engagement and the lead White House official on the President’s Serve.Gov initiative to promote national service. Also on the call was Nell Abernathy, Director of Outreach for Serve.Gov. One of their main goals on the call, it seems, was to encourage artists to produce works that would reinforce the President’s call for service; specifically through the Serve.Gov web-portal.
    As Dana Loesch recently reported at Big Government, the Serve.Gov portal funnels citizens to volunteer or service projects connected with ACORN and other leftist groups. The taxpayer-funded website is evolving into a cyber-recruitment tool for the progressive movement.
    So what did happen on that call? Was the NEA coordinating with the White House to push their agenda on a group of artists eager for and reliant upon the NEA for grants, or is the NEA telling the truth that this call “was not a means to promote any legislative agenda”?
    What was said contained in that conference call is apparently highly illegal and goes right into the WH.
  126. SPIN METER: $2 trillion in health savings? Where?
    By ALAN FRAM
    WASHINGTON — It was a watershed moment in the health care struggle: Leaders of the insurance, hospital and other medical industries stood with President Barack Obama at the White House and promised steps to save $2 trillion over the next decade.
    Whatever happened to those savings, announced with much fanfare well before Congress had written any of the costly health overhaul bills now in play? Industry groups say they’re a work in progress. Many health analysts say they’re largely speculative.
    “We should have cashed the check in May,” said Joe Antos, a health expert for the conservative American Enterprise Institute. “Those numbers never had any great significance then and there’s little now.”
    The White House event on May 11 clearly had political significance. It was an early sign that the same interest groups that helped derail President Bill Clinton’s drive to reshape the nation’s health system in the early 1990s were willing to give it a go this year. That helped create momentum for Obama’s effort. “The value is it showed the interest groups were trying to be at the table this time,” said Drew Altman, president of the Kaiser Family Foundation, a nonpartisan group that studies health issues.
    The promised savings, however, are a different matter.
    For starters, the $2 trillion in reduced costs for care, administrative work and other medical expenses were supposed to be savings for the entire economy, not just the government. That means that even if the savings were realized, much of it — no one knows exactly how much — would not be available to help Congress pay for its health overhaul bills. Those measures have ranged from an $856 billion bill by the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee Chairman, Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., to House Democrats’ $1.5 trillion version, both covering 10 years.
    So far, the pharmaceutical and hospital industries have agreed to cuts that would total $235 billion in 10-year savings for the government. That’s a fraction of both the cost of health legislation and the $2 trillion in promised reductions. “Insurance companies, drug companies are going to have to be ponying up,” Obama said Sunday on CBS-TV’s “Face the Nation,” without specifying any amounts.
    Health care executives say their effort to produce the savings is real and ongoing. They say they continue to talk, within the industry and with government officials, about initiatives to produce the money. Some would require federal approval, while providers could adopt others on their own.
    “We’re committed to getting rid of unnecessary costs,” Dr. J. James Rohack, president of the American Medical Association, said in an interview.
    Industry officials also cite a 28-page letter they sent Obama in June, following up on their May announcement, that described steps they were advocating. In it, drug makers proposed improvements in assuring patients follow doctors’ orders on taking prescriptions. Insurers wanted to streamline administrative work such as submitting claims, while the AMA said it has begun studying ways to reduce unneeded medical procedures.
    The American Hospital Association said it was seeking ways to reduce hospital infections, while medical device manufacturers said they are looking for ways to reduce medical errors. Another participant — the Service Employees International Union, representing hospital and other health care workers — suggested savings through moving more patients from nursing facilities to their homes. “We’ve been working with members of Congress to honor our commitment,” said Karen Ignagni, president of America’s Health Insurance Plans, the insurance industry trade group.
    Analysts, though, say there are no assurances the proposals will become reality. The plans lack detail, could take years to perfect and implement, and in some cases could be resisted by practitioners inside and outside the medical profession who don’t want to lose money, they say.
    The AMA, for example, says money could be saved by forgoing unneeded procedures if doctors could be protected from malpractice lawsuits as long as they followed specified treatments. Trial lawyers are vehemently against limits on such suits, however, and it is unclear what Congress will do when these two well-funded lobbies clash.
    Experts also cite the uncertainty of measuring how much money the proposals would save because it would be hard to calculate what medical spending would have been without them. In addition, it would be difficult to enforce the new rules. A medical company, for example, might lose income in one area but raise prices in another to earn the money back. Robert Reischauer, a former head of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office and now president of the Urban Institute, put it this way: “There’s no way they could make it a number you could write down on a deposit slip for a bank.”
  127. confloyd,
    Happy belated.
    HEHS – Sorry about your job. You’re comments are always so relevant and intelligent I can’t imagine you’ll be jobless for long.
    MOP,
    Good news although right now it doesn’t sound as sensationalistic as the previous acorn bombshells.
  128. Excellent insight into the BIO-DP debacle from the Daily news.
    And, yes, there’s a racial component to all this.
    But when the nation’s first black president comes to realize that the first black governor of New York has set the stage for the return of a Republican presidential contender whose claim to fame is based in part on having defeated David Dinkins in a racially polarizing New York election, that’s another matter entirely.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    The notion that the nation’s first black president would be responsible for destroying the candidacy of New York’s first black governor left some of the state’s normally voluble Democratic officials speechless — but not surprised.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    But most importantly, Obama realizes that the only thing that could stand between his own re-election in 2012 and a direct challenge from former mayor and potential Republican gubernatorial and presidential contender Rudy Giuliani — the man who defeated New York City’s first black mayor — is Attorney General Cuomo, the state’s most popular politician and one who unfailingly beats Giuliani in the polls.
    Whether it was his massive state spending and tax increases in the face of a deteriorating economy, his favoritism toward friends and cronies in hiring and handing out raises, his cruel smearing of Caroline Kennedy during the botched Senate-selection fiasco, or, most recently, his bizarre claim that he — along with Obama — were or soon would be victims of a white-controlled media conspiracy, Paterson has single-handedly turned what was initially an overwhelmingly supportive and sympathetic New York electorate against him.
  129. basil9 that always seems to be the case. So when I hear it is going to be the bomb, I just relax and don’t get too excited. Happy B confloyd.
    I went and read some comments about the Emmy’s and people seem to be getting bored and mad about the Stars and their political activism. Also, when one of the last awards was given, the acceptor said it had been a great year, and mentioned the election. I hear no reaction from the crowd. Perhaps they were tired, but I felt the silence spoke volumes. Do they really want to take credit for this mess.
  130. Morning NMF.
    Just saw the Buffy Wicks (is that her real name) appeal to the BO Call to service.
    I think there should be a law that anyone who wants to dictate social programs for the needy has to first spend a year living at minimum wage,at the poverty level, before climbing up on their crusading moralistic hobby horse and preaching to the rest of us.
    By that criterion, BO should resign.
    UGHHHHHHH!!
  131. There isn’t going to be a single “bombshell” that pushes him out, although that would be great, but a constant erosion of support from both camps in the democratic party, as his inexperience and indecision see him betray each in turn, leaving him ultimately a constituency of one. Policy failure trumps conspiracy theory every time in elective politics, and his policies are losers…
  132. As I remember, when Nixon got it, it just kept building, and it reached a point where they could level charges. Of course there is not liable to be any tape anymore of a daming conversation.
  133. There were a lot of hardcore Dims that went out on a limb for him by going against the popular vote in the districts. Those are the areas that are weak, as those people will remember. If he was a resounding success, all would be forgiven. As he fails, those people will have long memories. They will feel betrayed and duped. It is one thing if you reflected the majority opinons in your area, as they will feel that kool aid loyality of the person they had selected could not be wrong. But in areas that did not, they will feel the betrayal, and they will not have the blind loyality that comes with making that vote for him.
  134. NMF, I think you mean all those areas that went Hillary and then went McCain is exactly what you mean, they have not forgotten, lets see what happens next year to them, they should all be put on the spot for it.
  135. Moononpluto exactly right. People, who have been ignored, don’t like to be made a fool of. I felt that way in NM when the state chair manuvered to steel a delegate when she had won the vote.
    I would love to see ads in those areas simply stating Lest We Forget that our vote was ignored.
  136. exactly the way to go, NMF, make it clear to people and remind them that their representative voted against their vote and they cannot be trusted to represent their interests.
  137. I followed the Caroline K as Senator thing and this version of it makes me doubt the rest of the Daily News article:
    “[Paterson’s] cruel smearing of Caroline Kennedy during the botched Senate-selection fiasco”
    The media pressured Paterson to appoint CK, he defied them, and then they attacked him with this sort of thing — falsely imo.
    The NY media seems to be treating Paterson as other media treated Palin, Gore, Hillary….
  138. Its all because Paterson did not fall lockstep in with the AA Obama backing bandwagon in 2008, he defended Hillary to the last. Notice how any AA that defended Hillary has been getting screwed in the media lately.
    Thats why Bambi wants him out as revenge, the man has a payback streak a mile wide.
  139. Also, there is a form of postitution that elected office that voted for HRC will have to conform to. In our case, if our LTG wants to be Gov, she will probably have to take on a Dims OO supporter as her LTG.
    OO thinks that the media is Rude, code words for Fox is Rude. He thinks they are getting in the way of solving American’s problems. Who, so Fox news should start being the leader of the country, and drafting legislation, negotiating. Amazing, so what is he job.
  141. Thanks, basil9. I’ve applied everywhere but I figured out that unless you have connections or is just a plain crook willing to stab people in the back (Obama style), it’s very difficult to find anything in this economy.
    The “Yes We Can” decision wasn’t the only time the First Lady has had the last word on a crucial choice in her husband’s political career.
    Andersen reports Michelle Obama shot down Hillary Clinton as a potential vice president, opting for Joe Biden. Michelle’s opposition was possibly the deciding voice in the debate, Andersen writes.
    “Do you really want Bill and Hillary just down the hall from you in the White House?” she reportedly told her husband. “Could you live with that?”
    Apparently not. Biden was introduced as Obama’s running mate in late August 2008.
  145. Neeta,
    You mean John Lewis?
    The bots made him switch by threatening to primary him. Then they primaried him anyway — and he beat both of them put together.
    Pity he didn’t switch back.
  146. We have an election coming up at the end of Sept for mayor. One of the council people is running. He supported Hillary and then turned around and supported O.
    He was on my street asking people to put signs in their yards. When he came to my door, i told him to get away from my house. I said you don’t have any balls. You don’t stand up for what you believe in. You are letting other people tell you what to do. I told him i don’t trust you.
    I let him know i remembered when he was the only black councilman that supported Hillary. Then switch to O. I told him to get out of my face and that i will do everything i can to stop him from winning.
    SECRETARY OF STATE CLINTON:
    THERE WILL BE A DAILY PRESS BRIEFING IN WASHINGTON D.C. AT 1:00 P.M. with Ian Kelly
  149. neetabug, depending on where you live, your councilman could win or lose for his allegiance with O. In most places of the US, O would not help your councilman unless there is a large AA population or a city of largely upper-class liberals (like Boston). They are the only constituencies who still overwhelmingly support O.
  150. A friend of mine with excellent credentials has studied Soros and has been putting together a working hypothesis of what he has done to install Mr. Obama. The first part seems self evident, the second should be treated as a theoretical construct which requires additional facts to back it up. She is a Hillary supporter but is trying to look at this thing clinically, as we all must–before this Soros puppet destroys the USA.
    The first piece to the puzzle involves the Democratic Party–not as it exists today, as the wholly owned subsidiary of George Soros (as Don Iverson and other senior officials have confirmed), and the amalgam of big business and the radical left (as free media has exposed, and captive media has sought to hide)– but as it existed during the second Bush term. At that point, there was a struggle for control of the Party between the centrist forces represented by Hillary Clinton and the hard left represented by George Soros.
    The Soros cabal selected Mr. Obama prior to that time. Indeed some of the old research I did confirmed he was selected as early as 2003 by Howard Dean who is very much a Soros man, and has strong family ties to Wall Street which people do not talk about. The cabal intended to run him for President at some point, they positioned him for it through the 2004 speech, but they did not know whether the public was ready for it.
    They chose Massachusetts as a test case for the proposition because it was the bluest of blue states. They ran a black candidate named Duvale Patrick who was black, had an Ivy League education, and could deliver eloquent speeches. In each of those respects, he mirrored Mr. Obama. The question was whether such a candidate could win in the aftermath of a Republican incumbent. Axelrod was sent to Massachusetts to manage that campaign, but Soros operatives did the heavy lifting.
    Their strategy was based on positioning Mr. Patrick as an underdog (i.e. someone with remarkable ability who is unfairly held back by arbitrary factors, i.e. race), and delivering a message which was responsive to the emotional state of the electorate at that particular moment. That alone is not unique. However, what is novel is that they also developed a powerful capability to monitor the public mood in real time as discussed below. If it is true, and can be proven, then welcome to 1984.
    History records that little Duval won the Massachusetts election, and has since gone on to run it into the ground. But the point is he won. And by winning, Soros validated the tactics he would later use in the 2008 primary and general election. If you have ever wondered why Mr. Obama plagerized the speeches of Patrick, e.g. just words, it is because those words were tested and proven to work under laboratory conditions and Soros did not want to deviate one iota from the script.
    When it came to the Obama campaign, the same strategy was applied. Mr. Obama was not a legitimate African American because his ancestors were slave traders not slaves, as Jack Wheeler and other well wishers of his hasten to point out. Also, the ghetto life he has lived was at Morningside Lane (Columbia), and Cambridge Mass (Harvard). But he was black and that gave him the ability to claim racial identification, victimhood and make them believe he was the underdog.
    But the other part of it was to perpetrate the big lie, which was that Hilary Clinton was a warmonger, a racist and a clone of George Bush. How ironic that was, given the fact that Hillary and Bill have been strong proponents of black people and have opened up doors for so many of them at all levels. Nevertheless, they made black people believe it to the point that 9 out of 10 deserted Hillary and there was even a move to primary her in New York. That is how bad it was–and still is.
    In addition, they induced the Media into launching non stop sexist attacks against Hillary, and her supporters. They even suggested she wanted her opponent done away with. None of this was true, but it was part and parcel of the Soros Obama campaign to promote his puppet as an underdog, and to destroy the centrist wing of the party. This is hardly suprising. And today, his goal, and that of his big media allies is to reduce Hillary to a non person, and to marginalize her role as SOS.
    (Note: in his youth, Mr. Soros was a Nazi collaborator who confiscated the personal effects of Jews sent to death camps, and at the mature age of 67 he told Steve Croft of 60 Minutes that he had no regrets about this. In sum, the man is a moral monster. His charitable works are a facade. His goal is to destroy our country and Obama is his agent.)
    My friend believes that there may come a point where the public realizes the wrong which was done to Hillary–and to the country as a result of Soros and his cabal. This includes Goldman Sachs, General Electric and other Obama contributors who Putin agreed to see after Barack withdrew our missile defense shield from Poland and Czeckoslovokia. At that point they may see her as the problem solver and legitimate liberal who cares about the country more than big business. But with Big Media dictating what people believe that day is a long way off.
    The foregoing conclusions can be substantiated based on proven facts now in the public domain. The balance of my friends case requires additional proof, and it would be a good thing if hundreds of people who are interested in the truth could dig for additional facts, because the law of probability suggests that this too is true.
    During the Clinton Administration, we built the super computer. That device gave government the ability to mine information in real time from all the conversations taking place in the world through phones, email, faxes etc. After 9/11 programs were written to mine information based on key words used in those conversations–words commonly used by those who committed such acts. Later, programs were written to monitor emotional states of people who might commit such acts. Ultimately, programs were written to monitor the national psyche in response to catastrophic events.
    In the newest book by Dan Brown there is a specific reference to this at page 74. Granted, this is fiction, but so is the work of Tom Clancy who writes books which describe the capabilities of American and Russian submarines down to the most specific details. The point is fiction writers like Brown and Clancy have their sources in government, and that is where they get this kind of information. It is real.
    Much has been made of Mr. Obama’s tendency to contradict himself. This may not be contradiction at all, but merely adjustment to the prevailing national psyche as it changes from time to time. The polls are not always a reliable indicator. But if you could mine this information off the supercomputer with the right program then you could in the words of Brown advise the President on the national psyche, could you not.
    Yes, this would be illegal. But the question is one of enforcement and what guarantee is there that the Attorney General would act upon it. That is a political decision as well as a legal one. Blue State Digital which is joined at the hip with the Obama campaign is a Soros funded entity. It takes credit for winning the campaign for Mr. Obama. It is now doing business in Brazil where Mr. Soros has recently acquired significant financial holdings. Get it?
    Perhaps it was not done by Blue State Digitial. Perhaps they are just choirboys. How would Axelrod tap into the supercomputer? That information is secret after all. But if the Lion of the Senate wanted to see it, who could refuse. After all he was an honorable man, and the last known saint in our midst. But what if on a bad hair day he asked to see and did see and then told the right people. The man was capable of anything as long as he could see Camelot one more time. Maybe that is not it either.
    But somehow we need to find out whether this working hypothesis is true. We may suspect, but we cannot make the charge unless we have proof. But do note how Mr. Obama has supported FISA and his now extending the Patriot Act.
    The reason this is important is because if it is true, and they are mining our conversations in this manner then it is a flagrant violation of the Fourth Amendment. If there is a bona fide progressive left in this country other than the estimable Christopher Hedges, then perhaps he should take notice. Ya think????
  151. Contrary to what I said above, I was just learned this is not illegal because when you enter into a contract with a cellphone company, it makes you waive your right of privacy under the Fourth Amendment.
    Mining data off the supercomputer in a Real Time context is powerful. It can be used to manipulate and influence elections, or policy–that is why this is important. Obama did this with the stimulus thing. That was based on data mining.
    Coincidentally, there was a show on CNBC last night entitled Big Brother Is Watching, and it was done in 2006 to get Bush. The irony is they are also indicting their own man–Barack Hussein Obama. My friend called me on this a minute ago.
  152. WELL DONE, wbboei!
  157. A friend of mine with superb political, communication and media credentials has studied billionaire, market manipulator and left wing extremist George Soros in some depth. She is now in a position to begin building a working model of what he has done to install Mr. Obama. The first part seems of the hypothesis is provable based on conclusive evidence extant, whereas the second must be treated as a theoretical construct which explains much of what has occurred but requires additional facts to corroborate its validity. My friend is a staunch Hillary supporter who is trying to look at this thing clinically, as we all must. And the more you delve into it the more obvious it becomes that Soros is in charge and is guiding Mr. Obama.
    The first piece to the puzzle involves the Democratic Party–not as it exists today, as the wholly owned subsidiary of George Soros (as Don Iverson and other senior officials have confirmed), and the amalgam of big business and the radical left (as free media has exposed, and captive media has sought to hide)– but as it existed during the second Bush term. At that point, there was a struggle for control of the Party between the centrist forces represented by Hillary Clinton and the hard left represented by George Soros. That struggle occurred at the grass roots level, in congress and at the DNC.
    The Soros cabal selected Mr. Obama prior to that time. Indeed some of the old research I did confirmed he was selected as early as 2003 by Howard Dean who is very much a Soros man, and has strong family ties to Wall Street which people do not talk about. His partner is Mr, Wolfe of UBC–the Bank of Switzerland whose depositors are secret. Mr Wolfe met with Obama in January 2008 to finalize certain parts of his campaign. He met with him again privately at the Kennedy funeral)
    My friend believes that there may come a point where the public realizes the wrong which was done to Hillary–and to the country as a result of Soros and his cabal. This includes Goldman Sachs, General Electric and other Obama contributors who Putin agreed to see after Barack withdrew our missile defense shield from Poland and Czeckoslovokia. At that point they may see her as the problem solver and legitimate liberal who cares about the country more than big business. But with Big Media dictating what people believe that day is a long way off. In fact, if all the cards were put on the table it would be obvious to the world–as it surely is to us, that the real underdog in the campaign was Hillary Clinton, and she was the only candidate who put the American People first. Therein may lie her political salvation, if we can expose the truth of the matter.
    The foregoing conclusions can be substantiated based on proven facts now in the public domain. The balance of my friends case requires additional proof, and it would be a good thing if hundreds of people who are interested in the truth could dig for additional facts, because the law of probability suggests that this too is true.
    In the newest book by Dan Brown there is a specific reference to this at page 74. Granted, the book itself is fiction, but so too is the work of Tom Clancy who writes books like The Hunt for Red October. That book describes in intimate detail the capabilities of American and Russian submarines. I can assure you that information is secret and in some cases it is top secret, but there it is. The point is fiction writers like Brown and Clancy have their sources in government, and that is where they get this kind of information. That is the badge of credibility.
    Much has been made of Mr. Obama’s tendency to contradict himself. This may not be contradiction at all, but merely adjustment to the prevailing national psyche as it changes from time to time. The polls are not always a reliable indicator. But if you could mine this information off the supercomputer with the right program then you could in the words of Brown advise the President on the national psyche, could you not?
    It may surprise you to know that this is not illegal. The United States Supreme Court has ruled that government can mine this information without violating the Fourth Amendment right to privacy because of a legal fiction, i.e. that when you sign up with the cell phone company, the landline company etc. you sign a contract. And the legal effect of that contract is to waive your right of privacy, because is no longer just between you and the recipient. Believe it or not, that is the law.
    But even if that information is collected by the Super Computer and analyzed for its content based on key words, how does someone like Axelrod get access to it. When he was in a campaign mode it was difficult, but now that he is in the White House all he needs to do is ask for it under the authority of the President.
    During the campaign, Blue State Digital may have written a program to access that information. That entity is joined at the hip with the Obama campaign is a Soros funded entity. It takes credit for winning the campaign for Mr. Obama. It is now doing business in Brazil where Mr. Soros has recently acquired significant financial holdings. Mr. Soros is invested in Brazilian Oil and wants to make it the worlds bread basket. You could even speculate that if he is successful in tanking the United States dollar and economy, as he has done with several other countries, then Brazile is where he will go. Get it?
    So that is the working hypothesis. We cannot assume it is true, we must prove it. But do note how Mr. Obama has supported FISA and his now extending the Patriot Act. Also, my friend tells me that at midnight last night cnbc aired a program called Big Brother is watching, which discussed the ways in which government is mining information and using it to influence elections and policy. The program was produced in 2006 as a hit piece on Bush. However, to an even greater degree, it calls the game on Mr. Obama, which is ironic to say the least.
    The bottom line is this: we need people to utilize whatever capabilities we have to show the direct corrollation between Obama and Soros. Like Bobby Kennedy did to the Mafia, we must show the key players on a chart and understand the relationships which exist and operate at sufferance to the interests of the American People. In the words of Lord Chief Justice Erskine, we must “drag those dark movers from behind the scenes and show the American People who they are, and what they are doing to tank our country and promote their own cause which is world government. If they want to call this a conspiracy then fine let them do it. Let them also know that all history is a series of conspiracies.
  158. Another Clinton book to published detailing private interviews with Pres. Clinton….appears to be another attempt to embarrass the Clintons.
  159. Wbboei, great article. He is definitely a puppet and Soros is the puppeteer. I am reading this book that is all about the “Shock Doctrine” that is taking place and how Soros is helping the continue the process that began as early as the REAGAN administration. I know you believe that some of the republicans are innocent in the descent of American, but most aren’t. The early democrats (yellow dogs of my parents time) were good. However, our governments ruling power people have using methods used in Chile in the 70’s to break the country and bring it back to a total corporate state are now and have been implementing this here now. It is chilling see the same thing getting done here, like the take over of the media, the bail outs on taxpayer funds, rampent unemployment, spiriling debt. It is almost complete, if he succeeds in getting cap and trade, healthcare, possibly more stimulus. It will go on and on until we will be in hyperinflation and the unemployment and overall misery will be so bad that the people will except Soro’s “Open Society” meme and install the North American Union.
    Soros is just continuing on what the Bush’s have begun following Milton Friedman’s idea of a total corporate state in which there be no controls on corporations.
    There will very few safety nets or medicare/medicaid, Social security and etc. They will privatise social security and everything. Although Soros was not one of the “the Chicago boys” he was a speculator whose has a big part in crashing these economies. He was what they call “pirana’s”. They all work in coohoots and we are now on the chopping block.
    I will call you after Glenn Beck or later tonight.
  160. Great info-confloyd.. very important the connection with Soros-
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    I found this article accidentally, wbb. It was written 12/1997.

    The article is a pretty thorough rundown of BO’s involvement w/Acorn. Obama WAS instrumental in training ACORN’s workforce in what was coded as: “inside baseball” Chicago style. IOW- what you saw them promoting was not the actual agenda they were after. Detailing exactly the process of how he manipulates the words in his speeches running contrary to what is written in legislation. In sum, his words are meant to silence opposition and protest. While the legislation sails through unopposed.

  161. Mrs. Smith, since I started reading this book “the shock doctrine”, I am so mad at what the people are doing and are going to do to our country. Its not going to be much longer. If the rethugs can come up with another puppet in 2012 the deal will be complete. We all know Bo will not get another term unless blatant cheating comes about. This breaking of Acorn is not good for Bo, that is his power base. I want him out, but we need Hillary in and that will be hard, they don’t want her, she will not put the American people thru this. If you know how many people have been killed in the pursuit of this ideal in foreign countries, you can believe they have threaten Hillary or her child.
    Bo has no scruples. He will put in a huge government with lots of workers taking them out of private jobs and putting them into government jobs. THen the speculators use taxpayer funds to only lose our in bad investments and keep coming back for more and more to where there is NO more money and the gov. will have to lay off all these workers, cut all entitlement programs and wreck havac. This will then break us to the point where we will accept the “the new world order”. THese things are happening simultanously in other countries too, so they too will throw away their soveign governments.
    Its chilling, scary and very REAL!!

  162. confloyd-

    we’ll be lucky to make it to 2010 if things don’t turn around soon. We aren’t going to accept the New World Order as is with Soros and the dastardly Rockefeller running the show. Most of us, however, are willing to buy them a one way ticket on a Russian Excursion Rocket to the moon where they can start their own Interplanetary Government and let us know from time to time how it’s working for them…

    They should be happy there- no restrictions on pollution, toxic chemicals fouling air-space…anything killing viable life on the Moon…for moon dollars are A-OK
