Its OK, I am used to being underappreciated at work. Most exams are pricey, the most ordered exams are head scan and abdomen/pelvis scans. Just about everyone who comes in nowadays with a migraine headache gets a CT scan of the brain, the age of the patient really has no bearing on it either. What most of us who uses ionizing radiation are concerned with is the amount given over and over for tests that are not needed. The ER is the worst about ordering Ct's when good clinical evaluation and observation would be better. I have a problem with the ones they overorder on children. I would not let my kids get all that radiation as it affect the young alot. Prices are about what you said anywhere from 1500. to 3500. Of coarse the radiologist tacks on more charges for the reading. Usually about 3-500 depending on what it is he/she is reading.
