Let Them Eat Cake

Don’t bother petitioning Barack Obama for a redress of grievances. Barack Obama, the imperious yet bowing vassal to the Saudi Arabian king, can’t be bothered to take notice of Americans with grievances.

The maligned Marie Antoinette is falsely supposed to have replied to the hungry cries of French peasants for “bread!” with the uninformed and callous riposte “Let them eat cake.” Marie, was also blamed for the penurious French treasury and tarred with the epithet Madame Déficit.

Barack Obama is our own real life Madame Déficit and yesterday he regaled Hollywood’s high and mighty powers with his own version of “Let them eat cake.”

Last year Obama visited California and while there among his rich, callous, “creative class” friends, Obama sniffed that small town Americans were “bitter” and clung to God and guns. Yesterday, Obama visited California to once again raise money and fully displayed his contempts.

Speaking to a well-heeled audience of campaign donors in Beverly Hills, Obama was strikingly upbeat and assured. [snip]

The enthusiasm inside the Beverly Hilton was palpable — the president was greeted with repeated ovations — and the payoff was handsome: between $3 million and $4 million in contributions to the Democratic National Committee.

But Obama notably sidestepped two of the biggest issues facing California: He said nothing about the state’s disastrous financial condition or the issue of same-sex marriage, which heated up Tuesday when the state Supreme Court upheld Proposition 8, a measure banning the practice.

All those movie stars and rich people were content to applaud Obama but not one, not a single big Democratic liberal, raised the question of civil rights for Gay-Americans or the financial disaster faced by the citizens of California. Not a single movie star or Democratic donor had the decency to put aside their dinner (roasted tenderloin, grilled organic chicken and sun choke rosemary mashed potatoes) and raise the standard for those demonstrating outside. Jamie Foxx, Marisa Tomei, Kiefer Sutherland, Ron Howard, Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Antonio Banderas, Melanie Griffith, Holly Robinson Peete, Tyler Perry, Nicky Hilton, Seth Rogin, all remained silent. Outside however:

Outside the hotel, about 200 demonstrators chanted and carried flags and protest signs, many urging Obama to take a stronger stand in favor of gay rights.

“The president made a promise when he made his speech about hope,” said Rick Jacobs, one of the protest organizers. “I bought that promise and I still buy that promise, but it’s time for him to start fulfilling that promise for all Americans.”

Rick Jacobs is a fool for believing that gay-bashing Obama can be trusted.

Hollywood powers, big Democratic donors remained quiet, Obama however could not contain his arrogance and contempt for those outside, the little people that believed him, the fools that believed him:

“There were some protestors out here, I could hear them vaguely -– I don’t know what they were protesting. I think there was a group of them. But one of them started to chant, ‘Obama keep your promise’. And I thought that’s fair.”

Most of those outside were protesting Proposition 8. The protests were well advertised and it is impossible to believe the Obama advance teams did not inform him of what was going to happen outside his rich dinner.

Some were protesting for civil rights, others were protesting another Obama broken promise – the one regarding the Armenian genocide. Obama was too busy to even pretend to care.

Obama chose to pretend to not know what the protests were about. It doesn’t matter to Obama what promises Americans want kept, he intends to ignore them all – Americans and promises.

Earlier in the week Lorri Jean of the Gay and Lesbian Center in Los Angeles wrote an open letter to Obama:

You are arriving in Los Angeles on the heels of emotional demonstrations throughout California and our nation and your silence at such a time speaks volumes. LGBT people and our allies have the “audacity to hope” for a country that treats us fairly and equally and for a President with the will to stand up for those ideals. From you we expect nothing less.

We know the country faces many serious challenges and we have strived to be patient. We’ve waited for the slightest sign you would live up to your promise to be a “fierce advocate” for our equal rights while watching gay and lesbian members of the armed forces, who have never been more needed, get discharged from the military. And so far you have done nothing. No stop loss order. No call to cease such foolish and discriminatory actions that make our nation less safe.

You pledged to repeal the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, Mr. President. You promised to support a “complete repeal” of the so-called Defense of Marriage Act and pledged to advocate for legislation that would give same-sex couples the 1,100+ federal rights and benefits we are denied, including the same rights to social security benefits. You said, “federal law should not discriminate in any way against gay and lesbian couples.”

What of those promises, Mr. President?

Your commitment to repeal DOMA has been removed from the White House website. Your promise to repeal “don’t ask, don’t tell” was removed and then replaced with a watered-down version. And in the aftermath of yesterday’s California Supreme Court ruling, you have remained silent while your press secretary summarily dismisses questions about the issue.

We not only need to hear from our President, we need his action. And we need it now.

We need your words, Mr. President. But we also need your deeds. We expect you to fulfill the promises you made to us. As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. taught us, “Justice too long delayed is justice denied.” Do not delay, Mr. President. The time for action is now.

Lorrie Jean is learning that

Obama simply cannot be trusted. Obama cannot be trusted on any issue. Obama cannot be trusted by his friends. Obama cannot be trusted by his enemies. Obama cannot be trusted.

Some few, Hopium addled Gay-Americans are waking up. Yesterday, some carried Obama posters with “HOPE” appropriately retagged “FRAUD”.

Fraud

Other fools are still HOPEing Obama will keep his promises.

The fools certainly better not expect that Obama cared one whit about the opinion and thoughts of Sonia Sotomayor regarding Gay civil rights. He didn’t bother to ask or find out. Ditto with abortion rights.

Hillary of course, cares about civil rights for Gay Americans. Even on the controversial issue of marriage rights, Obama’s objections to gay marriage rights were based on his personal prejudices. Hillary’s opposition to Gay marriage were based on her observation that most Americans were not ready to recognize Gay marriage – she left the door open to pushing for the issue at the slightest opportunity.

In the past Hillary has marched in countless Gay Pride parades – when it was politically dangerous to do so. Obama has never marched in a Gay Pride parade. Maybe Gay leaders should get a clue.

Now Hillary has approved partner benefits for State Department workers.

In a notice to be sent soon to State Department employees, Clinton says regulations that denied same-sex couples and their families the same rights and privileges that straight diplomats enjoyed are “unfair and must end,” as they harm U.S. diplomacy.

“Providing training, medical care and other benefits to domestic partners promote the cohesiveness, safety and effectiveness of our posts abroad,” she says in the message, a copy of which was obtained by The Associated Press.

“It will also help the department attract and retain personnel in a competitive environment where domestic partner benefits and allowances are increasingly the norm for world-class employers,” she says.

“At bottom, the department will provide these benefits for both opposite-sex and same-sex domestic partners because it is the right thing to do,” Clinton says.

Among the benefits that will now be granted gay diplomats: the right of domestic partners to hold diplomatic passports, government-paid travel for their partners and families to and from foreign posts, and the use of U.S. medical facilities abroad.

In addition, gay diplomats’ families will now be eligible for U.S. government emergency evacuations and training courses at the Foreign Service Institute, the message says.

Hillary can be trusted, not blindly, but because she has a lifetime of experience and a record of accomplishment and keeping her word and getting things done.

Obama? Can’t be trusted. Let the Hopium addled chew on that.

  1. Those who trusted obama are slow to acknowledge the fact that they LET themselves be conned. “How can I vote for McCain, a Republican”. In the primaries, California went for Clinton, but she barely got any advantage out of the state despite her 10% win. For shame on those 45%. “Hey, I think Obama will bring change.”

    The “Change” mantra is so old, go back to the 1700’s for that old tired line. “We need to get the Federalists out of office, in order to expedite, what’s that word I’m searching for…CHANGE”.

    The conned are slow to call in the police, for shame that they will be revealed to be saps. Methinks that is what is taking time for the Obama-must-go train to pick up steam.

    They can come here for resources.

  2. admin’s piece reminds us that there are still plenty of “Hollywood types” willing to support the Dims no matter how corrupt they become. They do not examine the issues. They don’t care about the individuals. They of celebrity worship their political celebrity.

    They are hopeless.

  3. Obama only keeps those promises that benefit him. Every other promise and the people directly affected by them, are to be thrown off the bus.

    Obama to cement Saudi ties on surprise trip

    Fri May 29, 2009
    By Ulf Laessing – Analysis

    RIYADH (Reuters) – U.S. President Barack Obama is likely to hear Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah air his worries about the festering Arab-Israeli conflict and rising Iranian influence when he visits Riyadh next week. Obama, who meets King Abdullah on June 3, added a surprise Saudi leg to his trip to Europe and Egypt, where he plans to deliver a much-anticipated speech to the Muslim world. The decision reflects the enduring importance of a bilateral bond based on guaranteed oil supplies in return for U.S. protection for the Saudi monarchy that was sealed in the 1940s.

    Washington is keen to prevent any spike in oil prices that might threaten economic recovery — U.S. crude hit a year-high on Tuesday. For their part, Saudi officials fret that Obama’s diplomatic overtures to Iran might rejig regional relationships at Riyadh’s expense.

    They also want him to get tough with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has balked at Palestinian statehood. “Saudi Arabia wants reassurances that Obama is rejecting Netanyahu’s statements,” said Mustafa Alani, at Dubai’s Gulf Research Center, who is close to Saudi policymakers. The Saudis can take heart from Obama’s stern line against any expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.

    But Alani said they would make no concessions beyond a 2002 Arab peace plan promoted by King Abdullah offering Israel recognition in return for withdrawal from Arab land occupied in 1967 and a just solution to the issue of Palestinian refugees.
    Saudi rulers believe the collapse of Middle East peacemaking has given Iran opportunities to expand its regional reach via Sunni Islamist groups such as the Palestinian Hamas, as well as its traditional Shi’ite Hezbollah allies in Lebanon. The kingdom, which sees itself as the bastion of majority Sunni Islam, fears an eventual U.S. deal with Iran would make the Shi’ite power part of a new political and security order. But with no clear strategy on how to tackle Iran, the Saudis can only rely on the United States to halt Tehran’s nuclear ambitions, analysts and Riyadh-based diplomats say.

    “The Saudis are in a very, very tough spot,” said Rochdi Younsi at political risk consultant Eurasia Group. “They don’t know what they want. On one hand they want the U.S. to pursue a policy of strict containment of Iran. At the same time, they don’t want the situation to escalate to an armed conflict.”

    AFGHAN ROLE

    The United States itself might appreciate a Saudi role in countering Taliban insurgencies in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Saudis hosted talks in September between pro-government Afghan representatives and ex-Taliban officials on how to end a conflict which also involves the Taliban’s al Qaeda allies. “The Saudis have developed some influence that might come in handy for the Obama administration that is trying to refocus its efforts in Afghanistan,” said Younsi.

    Diplomats in Riyadh said the kingdom would have to weigh the benefits of such a role against possible damage to its campaign to improve its image in the West after the September 11 attacks of 2001, in which 15 of the 19 al Qaeda hijackers were Saudis.
    “They might do it, but would be also a bit worried at being perceived as having close Taliban links, while trying to present themselves in a new light,” said a Western diplomat. Saudi Arabia is often criticized abroad for its human rights record, but Younsi said Obama was unlikely to raise unwelcome questions about political reforms, despite the government’s decision this month to delay municipal elections for two years.

    The United States needs Saudi Arabia, which has over a fifth of global oil reserves, to play its customary moderating role in the OPEC cartel against price hawks such as Iran and Venezuela. “The Saudis are the only ones who have spare capacity,” said Alani, the Dubai-based analyst. They will be able to pump even more crude to brake prices when the 1.2 million barrel per day Khurais field opens in June.

    Saudi Arabia is among America’s top 15 trading partners, with two-way trade worth $67.3 billion last year. The kingdom, whose currency is pegged to the dollar, has expanded trade with Asia in recent years, but still needs high-tech U.S. goods. “The United States will remain the biggest individual country trade partner for Saudi Arabia, although its role is likely weaken a bit due to increased trade volumes with Asia,” said Monica Malik, a regional economist at EFG-Hermes.

    PA official: Abbas expects US pressure to push out Netanyahu

    May. 29, 2009
    THE JERUSALEM POST

    Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas will not resume negotiations with Israel unless the Netanyahu government agrees to a complete settlement freeze and publicly accepts a two-state solution, Abbas has told The Washington Post in an interview. And since he does not believe Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will lift his opposition on these issues, Abbas and his leadership expect American pressure to gradually force Netanyahu out of office, the paper reported on Friday. “It will take a couple of years,” it quoted one of Abbas’s officials as saying. Abbas was interviewed the day before his Thursday meeting at the White House with US President Barack Obama.

    Setting out what the newspaper called “a hardline position,” the Palestinian leader conditioned a resumption of talks with Israel on Netanyahu’s agreement to a halt in all settlement building – a demand being repeatedly stressed by Obama, US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and other senior US officials – and formal Israeli government acceptance of Palestinian statehood. Abbas added that he would not even assist Obama’s special envoy, George Mitchell, in trying to encourage Arab states to begin warming relations with Israel until Israel accepted these conditions. “We can’t talk to the Arabs until Israel agrees to freeze settlements and recognizes the two-state solution,” Abbas was quoted saying. “Until then we can’t talk to anyone.”

    However, The Washington Post went on, “Abbas and his team fully expect that Netanyahu will never agree to the full settlement freeze – if he did, his center-right coalition would almost certainly collapse. So they plan to sit back and watch while US pressure slowly squeezes the Israeli prime minister from office. ‘It will take a couple of years,’ one official breezily predicted.” Abbas, the article continued, “rejects the notion that he should make any comparable concession – such as recognizing Israel as a Jewish state, which would imply renunciation of any large-scale resettlement of refugees.”

    Abbas intends to remain passive, he told the paper. “I will wait for Hamas to accept international commitments. I will wait for Israel to freeze settlements… Until then, in the West Bank we have a good reality . . . the people are living a normal life.” Abbas also told The Washington Post that former prime minister Ehud Olmert accepted the principle of a “right of return” to Israel for Palestinian refugees and offered to resettle thousands of Palestinians in Israel. And he said Olmert proposed a Palestinian state on 97 percent of the West Bank, and showed him its contours on a map. Abbas said he turned down Olmert’s peace offer because “the gaps were too wide.”

    “What’s interesting about Abbas’s hardline position,” wrote The Washington Post’s Jackson Diehl, who conducted the interview along with a colleague, “is what it says about the message that Obama’s first Middle East steps have sent to Palestinians and Arab governments.” While the Bush administration placed the onus for change in the Middle East on the Palestinians, Diehl wrote, the Obama administration had shifted the focus to Israel. The upshot, wrote Diehl, is that “in the Obama administration, so far, it’s easy being Palestinian.”

    The Palestinians, under Bush, knew that “until they put an end to terrorism, established a democratic government and accepted the basic parameters for a settlement, the United States was not going to expect major concessions from Israel,” wrote Diehl. But Obama, with his repeated demands for a settlement freeze, “has revived a long-dormant Palestinian fantasy: that the United States will simply force Israel to make critical concessions, whether or not its democratic government agrees, while Arabs passively watch and applaud.”

    As Abbas told his interviewers, “The Americans are the leaders of the world… They can use their weight with anyone around the world. Two years ago they used their weight on us. Now they should tell the Israelis, ‘You have to comply with the conditions.’”

    Diehl wrote that Netanyahu and the Likud party had not reconciled themselves “to the idea that Israel will have to give up most of the West Bank and evacuate tens of thousands of settlers” for a permanent accord. “But Palestinians remain a long way from swallowing reality as well. Setting aside Hamas and its insistence that Israel must be liquidated, Abbas – usually described as the most moderate of Palestinian leaders – last year helped doom Netanyahu’s predecessor, Ehud Olmert, by rejecting a generous outline for Palestinian statehood.” Olmert’s offer “was more generous to the Palestinians than either that of Bush or Bill Clinton,” wrote Diehl. “It’s almost impossible to imagine Obama, or any Israeli government, going further.”

    “While the Bush administration placed the onus for change in the Middle East on the Palestinians, Diehl wrote, the Obama administration had shifted the focus to Israel”

    So under this bastard (excuse the language) the terrorist issue as well as the recognition of Israel means absolutely nothing! Israel must prostrate itself and give everything up while the Palestinians and other Arab countries are laughing themselves all the way to the bank!

    This turnabout in Israeli-U.S. relations makes me sick to my stomach!

  6. I’ll give the Repubs that, they have always stood by Israel, the one democracy in the region. As have just about all Dem presidents too, until this past January…

    Now about that birth certificate, and one’s Muslim roots???

  7. “There were some protestors out here, I could hear them vaguely -– I don’t know what they were protesting.”

    He doesn’t seem to know much about anything except as it affectsd him. Disgusting.

    I caught a short snippet of Morning Joe this morning and I was APPALLED at the WORM scrambling from Noonan to krauthammer to Scarborough and even Robinson. It was clear even they were squirming about the continuous BO rah-rah reaction and were grasping at straws to try to justify that POS.

  8. True, Obama’s dismissiveness of real people’s concerns is just like Bush, just make a joke to diminish them as irrelevant.

    Bill Clinton, on the other hand, would echo protestors’ concerns, and he might have said last night, “I DO hear what the protestors outside are saying, and I don’t think we ought to ignore their voices…” So Bill was in favor of real dialog, and not simply concerned “Am I popular?”, and “Will this make me look bad?”

    Obama is another douche bag like Bush.

    Dodd Puts Up His First Re-election Ad

    By Bernie Becker

    Senator Chris Dodd, the embattled Democrat from Connecticut, has hit the airwaves with the first advertisement in his re-election campaign. The advertisement, now up on Mr. Dodd’s campaign website, quotes President Obama to plug the senator’s role in the recent passing of the credit card reform bill. “I want to give a special shout-out to Chris Dodd, who has been a relentless fighter to get this done,” Mr. Obama said last week at the Rose Garden signing ceremony for the bill. Mr. Dodd’s campaign has spent $100,000 to air the advertisement for roughly a week.

    Mr. Dodd has been elected fairly comfortably to each of his five terms in the Senate. But he has seen his popularity plummet in recent months, at least partly because of the role he played in allowing bonuses to be paid to firms that received federal bailout money. But he retains the firm support of Mr. Obama, who said in an interview last month that “I can’t say it any clearer: I will be helping Chris Dodd because he deserves the help.” As he seeks a sixth term, Mr. Dodd already has a potentially strong Republican opponent in Rob Simmons, a former House member. Last week, Merrick Alpert, an Air Force veteran and former aide to Al Gore, announced he would challenge Mr. Dodd for the Democratic nomination.

    A poll released by Quinnipiac this week showed Mr. Simmons leading Mr. Dodd 45 percent to 39 percent and found that 38 percent of Connecticut voters approved of Mr. Dodd’s performance. Still, those marks are improvements from an April poll from Quinnipiac, which gave Mr. Simmons a 16 percentage point lead and found that only 33 percent of voters approved of Mr. Dodd’s work.

    This is the move of a weak ineffectual leader. He is playing a game of chicken before the game has even begun. Now would be a good time to send an open letter to Obama posted in the New York Times, stressing one or more of the following points:

    1. first, the issue here is the safety and survival of one of Americas most reliable allies in the world. Those are not issues to be trifled with.

    2. second, the elites in Washington cannot dictate a timetable for a stable settlement in the Middle East. It must come from the parties. Currently, the people in Israel and Palestine do not want an agreement.

    3. third, Israel is willing to enter into negotiations to seek a stable agreement. But Abbas has thrown down the gauntlet.

    4. fourth, if you want an agreement, you do not give the other side an ultimatim prior to negotiation which leaves them no face saving way out–as Abbas has done.

    5. fifth, if you want an agreement, you do not tell the world that your goal is to use friends of your opponent pressure him into submission or force him out of office–as Abbas has done.

    6. sixth, if you want an agreement, and you want a concession from your opponent you offer one of your own: recognition of Israel contingent upon the conclusion of a satisfactory agreement.

    7. seventh, in that case you go with the flow, and have the greatest leverage with the world behind you to get the two state solution you want, and Israel gets recognition and security it deserves.

    8. eighth, under this approach, nothing is agreed to until everything is agreed to–and everyone knows what the deal is.

    9. ninth, it fully appears from Abbas’s actions that he does not want to negotiate. For him it is my way or the highway

  11. Chris Dodd is a living symbol of all that is corrupt in the political system. If he is re-elected, then it proves that Menken was right that nobody ever went broke (or lost an election) underestimating the intelligence of the American People (the people of Connecticut).

  12. Wbboei, Obama needs to remember the maxim “you can take a horse to water but you can’t make it drink”. If it is not in the interest of the parties to the conflict, it will not happen. And, even if it did happen, it would not work and in all liklihood make things worse.

  13. Charges Against ‘New Black Panthers’ Dropped by Obama Justice Dept. : Three men were accused of trying to threaten voters and block poll and campaign workers by the threat of force — one even brandishing what prosecutors call a deadly weapon.

    FOXNews.com
    Friday, May 29, 2009

    Charges brought against three members of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense under the Bush administration have been dropped by the Obama Justice Department, FOX News has learned. The charges stemmed from an incident at a Philadelphia polling place on Election Day 2008 when three members of the party were accused of trying to threaten voters and block poll and campaign workers by the threat of force — one even brandishing what prosecutors call a deadly weapon.

    The three black panthers, Minister King Samir Shabazz, Malik Zulu Shabazz and Jerry Jackson were charged in a civil complaint in the final days of the Bush administration with violating the voter rights act by using coercion, threats and intimidation. Shabazz allegedly held a nightstick or baton that prosecutors said he pointed at people and menacingly tapped it. Prosecutors also say he “supports racially motivated violence against non-blacks and Jews.”

    The Obama administration won the case last month, but moved to dismiss the charges on May 15. The complaint says the men hurled racial slurs at both blacks and whites. A poll watcher who provided an affidavit to prosecutors in the case noted that Bartle Bull, who worked as a civil rights lawyer in the south in the 1960’s and is a former campaign manager for Robert Kennedy, said it was the most blatant form of voter intimidation he had ever seen.

    In his affidavit, obtained by FOX News, Bull wrote “I watched the two uniformed men confront voters and attempt to intimidate voters. They were positioned in a location that forced every voter to pass in close proximity to them. The weapon was openly displayed and brandished in plain sight of voters.” He also said they tried to “interfere with the work of other poll observers … whom the uniformed men apparently believed did not share their preferences politically,” noting that one of the panthers turned toward the white poll observers and said “you are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker.”

    A spokesman for the Department of Justice told FOX News, “The Justice Department was successful in obtaining an injunction that prohibits the defendant who brandished a weapon outside a Philadelphia polling place from doing so again. Claims were dismissed against the other defendants based on a careful assessment of the facts and the law. The department is committed to the vigorous prosecution of those who intimidate, threaten or coerce anyone exercising his or her sacred right to vote.”

  14. wwoebi,

    I need three things to happen:

    1/ Bibi and the Israelis stand firm.

    2/ Hillary far away from this Middle East mess.

    3/ Your muslim president to be impeached.

  15. I by no means meant to sound racist with my 3rd point. I have many Muslim friends and would never attack them for their beliefs.

    I just believe that obama has a violently antisemitic secret agenda.

    I wonder what Obama’s “Justice” Dept. would have done if it had been three white guys intimidating voters at a polling station somewhere in say Western PA?

    WRGB News: “The three white men in Whitestown, PA, are being held in Guantanamo as possible enemy combatants. Pres. Obama said, ‘We don’t know what country they really are from, and what potential dangers they may pose to the public. We are sending a clear message that voter intimidation is only acceptable in inner cities.”

    It would appear that black on white violence and intimidation in voting is not a matter of concern to Obama or his attorney general. I wonder if Shabbazz is any relation to Betty who was the wife of Malcolm X.

    Jan–there is no question whatsoever that Obama and his wife are racist and anti-semitic. I can think of nine reasons, but the one that is the clincher is they exposed their two young daughters to the racist ravings and anti semitic slurs of Obamas spirtitual advisors and no parent would do that unless they harbored those views themselves. If Obama were honest about it he would get down on his knees and pray for his own soul because his ancestors were Arabic, and were not slaves but slave traders according to Jack Wheeler who has researched the issue.

  18. I have been on the road for two weeks, so I have missed all the wonderful article and writtings. However, I can tell you that there are others of us in the country, still upset about what happened, and when we drive through Clinton, OK, we happen to pick up a paper. There was a whole section of foreclosures, not just a page. Clinton is not a large city. Also here, intel layed off again. They have stimulus money to retool for another chip process, but they laid off a whole mess of workers, many had been with them over 10 years.

  19. It sounds like Obama has one relative who is mentally sound. This great uncle who has no craving for hopium.

    I assume Obama will read some kind of a teleprompter speech at Buchenwald in an attempt to get people to ignore what he is trying to do to Israel. Wont work.

    Obama’s Uncle: He’s Using Buchenwald for Political Purpose

    Thursday, May 28, 2009 6:33 PM

    Barack Obama’s great uncle offered some blunt language as to why his nephew is visiting the memorial at the former Buchenwald concentration camp next week during his trip to Europe and the Middle East.

    “This is a trip that he chose, not because of me I’m sure, but for political reasons,” Charles Payne told the German magazine Spiegel. “Perhaps his visit also has something to do with improving his standing with (German Chancellor) Angela Merkel. She gave him a hard time during his campaign and also afterwards.”

    Obama will visit Saudi Arabia, make a long-awaited speech to the Muslim world in Cairo, travel to Dresden and the Buchenwald Nazi concentration camp in Germany, and attend D-Day commemorations in France. His uncle said he’d love to tag along if he gets a lift on Air Force One.

    Payne, 84, is no stranger to Americans: The Obama campaign used his WWII experiences last year to burnish the candidate’s all-American upbringing. But Obama made a gaffe when he said his great uncle liberated Auschwitz. In fact, Payne was part of the force that liberated Ohrdruf, a subcamp of the Buchenwald concentration camp, in April 1945.

    Payne told Spiegel that he was shocked to see his war experience, especially his “liberation” of a concentration camp, used in campaign commercials. He said he had never spoken with his nephew about the matter, nor did Obama ever express any interest in Payne’s experience.

    “I was quite surprised when the whole thing came up and Barack talked about my war experiences in Nazi Germany,” Payne said. “We had never talked about that before.”

    Payne doesn’t know where Obama came up with the fictitious Auschwitz connection.

    “He couldn’t have gotten it from me since we had never talked about this particular episode in the war,” said Payne. “My sister and her husband were both great storytellers and sometimes made up the details to go along with it.

    “They told him about my deployment with the 89th Infantry Division and apparently they mixed up a few details,” Payne said. “Of course it came out immediately that he was wrong since there are enough people in America who know that Auschwitz is in the East and that the camp was liberated by the Red Army.”

    After the mistake was made, Obama called Payne to get the correct details.

    “He wanted to know where this camp was that I had helped liberate,” Payne said. “I told him that it was Ohrdruf and that it was a subcamp of the Buchenwald concentration camp. I described a little bit of what I had seen.”

    Payne stressed that he has no political ax to grind. He is a life-long Democrat, but said he isn’t particularly close to his famous relative.

    “Our relationship is warm and friendly, but I’m not part of his inner circle. We always have an interesting chat when we get in the same room together. He doesn’t call me up and ask what I have to say about world policy or anything. And I never offer my opinions on any of this.”

    In the article, Payne described an incident very similar to what many members of the “Greatest Generation” had experienced. A young man from Kansas, he had little knowledge of the world and few opinions about Germany or foreign policy in general before landing in Europe for the liberation.

    “Everybody who was able-bodied was drafted,” Payne recalled. “I went down right at the time I graduated and told the lady that ran the Selective Service office. I said, ‘I’m ready to go,’ and she said: ‘Don’t you worry about it, honey. You’re on the list.’ Since I had been colorblind since birth, I was first turned down by the Air Force, then by the Navy and the Marines. Only the Army didn’t care and put me into the infantry.”

    Raised in Kansas, Payne did his basic training at North Camp Hood, Texas.

    “What did you think about the Germans at the time?” Spiegel asked him.

    “I am unable to tell you what I was thinking then. That was a long time ago, and as I told you, until Barack misspoke, I hadn’t thought about any of this for a very, very long time,” Payne said.

    “They were the enemy, evil incarnate, and we were the good guys coming to save the world. We were all for the war. We all wanted to be in it. That doesn’t mean we enjoyed being in it, though,” he said. He then described his experiences in Europe.

    “At first there was no front,” he said. “Because there were no facilities for our ship, we couldn’t anchor in the harbor. Le Havre had been summarily bombed. They finally took us off in the middle of the night on landing barges. It was bitter cold and snowing. There was about three or four inches of water sloshing around in the bottom. So we landed at Le Havre in bitter cold with wet feet. Soon afterwards we had a large number of people who suffered from frostbite. The camp doctors were forced to amputate fingers, toes, and feet and send these soldiers back to the United States. For them the war was over.

    “Ohrdruf was in that string of towns going across, south of Gotha and Erfurt,” Payne said, describing his arrival near the concentration camp. “Our division was the first one in there. When we arrived there were no German soldiers anywhere around that I knew about. There was no fighting with the Germans, no camp guards. The whole area was overrun by people from the camp dressed in the most pitiful rags, and most of them were in a bad state of starvation. The first thing I saw was a dead body lying square in the middle of the front gate.

    “Inside the gate was an area where a bunch of the camp inmates had been machine gunned and were all lying on the ground,” Payne continued. “Each one had their tin cup in their hand or lying next to them.”

    The interviewer asked him to describe his feelings when he was “confronted with these images.”

    Payne said he doesn’t like to think about it, and hadn’t for a long time until Obama’s gaffe caused all the harsh memories of that time to come back in force.

    “You know, I am unable to tell you what I was thinking then,” Payne said. “That was a long time ago, and as I told you, until Barack misspoke, I hadn’t thought about any of this for a very, very long time. In fact, I guess I prefer not to think about it. I can assure you I was horrified by the lengths to which men will go to mistreat other men. This was, to me, almost unbelievable. There was more: There were sheds full of dead bodies that had been stripped and thrown in and then stacked up on top of each other. I don’t know how many, but many high and the whole length of the room. They sprinkled lime to keep the smell down. That’s about the extent that I remember actually seeing.

    “I am puzzled by intelligent people who stand by and allow their country to be taken over and run by extreme radical types,” Payne said. “I’m still somewhat puzzled by that. And I am fully aware that it could happen and has almost happened in this country. You know, I lived through the McCarthy era in the 1950s, when it was getting dangerously close to that sort of thing.”

    Rachel Alexandra won’t run in Belmont
    ============================

    LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP)—Preakness winner Rachel Alexandra will not run in the Belmont Stakes, opening the way for jockey Calvin Borel to return to Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird in his quest for a personal Triple Crown.

    Jess Jackson, Rachel Alexandra’s co-owner, said Friday the spectacular filly “deserves a well-earned vacation.”

    Rachel Alexandra, the first filly to win the Preakness in 85 years, had been set to work out Monday at Churchill Downs in Louisville, and no announcement was expected until after that. But Jackson explained she simply needed a rest after running—and winning—four graded stakes races since March 14, including a dominating victory in the Kentucky Oaks.

    “We know the media and many fans would have liked to see her run in the Belmont Stakes—we feel the same,” Jackson said in a statement. “But all of us sincerely interested in the horse must agree that we only want to see her run when it is best for her. While she is in great shape, having strong works, and recovering well from her amazing performances, we feel Rachel deserves a well-earned vacation.”

    Borel was the mount for both Mine That Bird in the Derby and Rachel Alexandra in the Preakness and Oaks. He was set to ride her again in the Belmont, but Mine That Bird’s trainer Chip Woolley had said he was prepared to wait—even into next week—if there was a chance Borel could become available again.

    “We hate she’s not going to be in there for horse racing, but at the same time it’s maybe better for me,” Woolley said Friday in a phone interview. “It was a very strange year where you had two great horses and the same guy riding both of them.”

    Borel was already planning to be aboard Mine That Bird on Monday at Churchill for his final workout before shipping to New York for the Belmont.

    In a statement from the New York Racing Association, Borel thanked Woolley and Mine That Bird’s owners “for being so gracious and allowing us to wait for this decision.” Borel also praised Jackson for making the announcement earlier than expected.

    “Now that the decision is made, I am excited to come to New York and ride Mine That Bird in the Belmont Stakes,” Borel said.

    There was no immediate indication from Jackson on when or where Rachel Alexandra might race next, but the New York Racing Association said he had committed to a start at Belmont Park sometime this year.

    Borel, who had won the Derby two years earlier aboard Street Sense, repeated the feat with Mine That Bird, even though at 50-1 he was one of the biggest longshots ever to win the most famous American horse race.

    The horse nearly pulled off another upset in the Preakness with new jockey Mike Smith aboard, finishing second to Borel and Rachel Alexandra.

    Among the possible challengers to Mine That Bird in the third leg of the Triple Crown are his half-brother Summer Bird, as well as Chocolate Candy, Dunkirk, Flying Private, Brave Victory, Charitable Man, Luv Gov, Miner’s Escape, Mr. Hot Stuff and Nowhere To Hide.

  31. This will come up as a duplicate later, but Rachel Alexandra will not be running in the Belmont, and Mr. Borel will be back on horse number 1, Mine That Bird, whom he rode to victory in the KY Derby.

  32. DEM JUDGE WHOM OBAMA CONSIDERS “EXCEPTIONAL” AND “BRILLIANT” HAS A PROBLEM WITH SOTOMAYOR’S 2001 SPEECH…

    Obama tries to deflect criticism from Sotomayor
    ===================================

    By BEN FELLER, Associated Press

    WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama on Friday personally sought to deflect criticism about Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor, who finds herself under intensifying scrutiny for saying in 2001 that a female Hispanic judge would often reach a better decision than a white male judge. “I’m sure she would have restated it,” Obama flatly told NBC News, without indicating how he knew that.

    The quote in question from Sotomayor has emerged as a rallying call for conservative critics who fear she will offer opinions from the bench based less on the rule of law and more on her life experience, ethnicity and gender. That debate is likely to play a central role in her Senate confirmation process.

    Said Sotomayor in 2001: “I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”

    After three days of suggesting that reporters and critics should not dwell on one sentence from a speech, the White House had a different message Friday.

    “I think if she had the speech to do all over again, I think she’d change that word,” presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters.

    Gibbs said he did not hear that from Sotomayor directly, but rather from people who had talked to her, and he did not identify who those people were. Sotomayor herself has made no public comments about the matter and was not available for comment.

    Using the talents of Mr. Horse Whisperer, Rachel Alexandra was found quoted as saying a few months ago, in an interview:

    “As a horse of “color”, and being female, I have had more obstacles than say a white male horse. So my wins have been more impressive, and I believe my payoffs should be accordingly adjusted upwards. Also, I am not being mistreated, but boy, oats again???”

  34. “I think if she had the speech to do all over again, I think she’d change that word,” presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters.”

    Sotomayor and White Wise Guys

    By Jan LaRue

    If you believe the myth that Democrats are champions of equality for women, racial minorities, and folks with “compelling” life stories, maybe you’ve been spending more time tracking Big Foot than judicial nominations.

    Judge Sonia Sotomayor, President Barack Obama’s Hispanic nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court, is the perfect pick to reinforce their myth.

    That’s not to diminish in any way Sotomayor’s life story and accomplishments, which are impressive and admirable. Still, the American people expect a full and fair hearing regarding her competence, judicial philosophy, temperament, and commitment to “Equal Justice Under Law.”

    The self-anointed authority on “mainstream” judges, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has already warned that “if Republicans oppose Sonia Sotomayor, they’ll do so at their “own peril.”

    You don’t have to be a world-class cryptographer to bust that code. No matter how courteous and respectful Republicans are to Sotomayor, the first and every time a Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee (SJC) asks her a relevant question about her judicial philosophy, statements, court opinions (which have a reversal rate of 60 percent in the Supreme Court), the Democrats will consume most of the SJC’s time ranting against Republicans as “anti-Hispanic misogynists.”

    Here’s some advice and consent for Republicans: “Get over it.”

    Democrats are so taken by their munificent minority myth that they can’t grasp how demeaned and offended most women and minorities feel about being force-fed affirmative action and set-asides. Most of us believe that we really are capable of making it on our intellect and abilities if we have equal opportunity at the starting line.

    Sotomayor’s ruling in Ricci v. DeStefano is certainly worth examining, especially in light of her statement: “I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”

    Ricci concerns firefighters in New Haven, Conn., who were denied promotions because no black firefighters qualified for advancement. Sotomayor, as part of a three-judge panel of the 2nd Circuit appeals court, upheld the city’s rejection of a race discrimination lawsuit by white firefighters and one Hispanic. She voted with the majority of the full court in refusing to rehear the case. The Supreme Court is currently considering the case, and will announce its opinion at the end of June.

    If they can stomach it, Republicans should prep themselves for Sotomayor’s confirmation hearing by reviewing tapes or reading transcripts of Judge Janice Rogers Brown’s hearing. Brown was President George W. Bush’s African-American nominee to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Democrats weren’t so smitten with her compelling life story that they were incapable of asking her tough questions.

    Democrats should have championed Judge Brown’s confirmation, not because of her compelling life story, but because of her record as an exemplary judge committed to the rule of law, equality for all Americans, and her limited role as a judge.

    Instead, privileged, wealthy, white Democrats attacked Brown as an “extreme right-wing” judge who didn’t care about “civil rights” or the “down-trodden.” They were unconstrained by accusations of racism and sexism.

    When the Democrats ended their nearly two-year delay, including a filibuster of Brown’s re-nomination in 2005, their attacks continued. They claimed their opposition wasn’t racist or sexist:

    Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) ridiculed Bush nominees including Brown, as “Neanderthals.” He attacked Brown as “another extreme right-wing candidate … a judicial activist who will roll back basic rights.”
    Sen. Pat Leahy (D-Vt.) said: “I oppose giving Justice Brown this lifetime promotion to the second highest court in our land because the American people deserve judges who will interpret the law fairly and objectively. Janice Rogers Brown is a committed judicial activist who has a consistent record of using her position as a member of the court to put her views above the law and above the interests of working men and women and families across the Nation.”
    Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said: “Janice Rogers Brown is one of President Bush’s most ideological and extreme judicial nominees.”
    Schumer said: Judge Brown “is the least deserving of all of President Bush’s appeal court nominees.”

    Many political pundits apparently share Democrats’ low opinion of Hispanic voters. All we’ve heard thus far is, “Republicans don’t dare go after Sotomayor,” or they’ll lose the Hispanic voting bloc.

    Democrats are counting on Hispanics forgetting that it was Democrats who blocked Honduran immigrant Miguel Estrada’s nomination to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals solely because they couldn’t abide the prospect that President Bush might elevate the first Hispanic to the Supreme Court.

    Hispanics should be insulted by the race-baiting. They know the difference between addressing an issue and attacking a person. That’s what Democrats do when a woman or a minority won’t tow the Party line as a judge.

    Americans don’t expect or want Republicans to behave like Democrats. But they do want a thorough review and some tough questioning of Sotomayor’s record, speeches and opinions.

    A Latina woman can take it, especially a former prosecutor who grew up in the South Bronx. Besides, she’s probably looking forward to the chance to prove she’s smarter than white guys.

  36. Bush, Clinton joke, defend each other in Canada

    Fri May 29, 2009
    By Andrea Hopkins

    TORONTO, May 29 (Reuters) – Former U.S. Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton traded jokes about life after the Oval Office and took turns defending each other as they shared a stage in Toronto on Friday to discuss global affairs.

    In a sold-out event billed as their first conversation on stage since they left office, Bush and Clinton disagreed politely about a couple of issues, backed each other on others and refused to criticize anything current President Barack Obama was doing. Bush’s vice president, Dick Cheney, has emerged as one of Obama’s toughest critics and the staunchest defender of the Bush administration’s policies after the Sept. 11 attacks. But Bush, saying he had hated it when former presidents criticized him after he took office, said, “Anything I say is not to be critical of my successor … (there are) plenty of critics in American society.”

    Bush, who has stayed mostly out of the public eye since leaving the White House in January, said he was enjoying the freedom of being a private citizen but thanked the Toronto organizers “for giving me something to do.” The two-term Republican president from Texas said he had been taking on chores dictated by his wife, Laura, and had discovered the challenges of cleaning up after pets as he walked the family dog, Barney, around their Dallas neighborhood. “There I was, the former president, with a plastic bag on my hand, picking up that which I had dodged for eight solid years,” Bush said to laughs from the 6,000-strong audience.

    Bush said he had phoned his mother to tell her about the event and she responded that Clinton had been spending so much time with his father, former President George H.W. Bush, in charity efforts that Clinton was “like my son.” Turning to Clinton, Bush joked, “So brother, it is good to be with you.”

    For his part, Clinton, a Democrat who was Bush’s predecessor in office, said his new challenge was not saying anything that would get his wife, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in trouble. “No one cares what I say unless I mess up. … I have to think about what they will ask Hillary and President Obama tomorrow if I mess up,” Clinton said.

    Clinton, wearing a beige suit and red tie, and Bush, in navy blue, shook hands as they met on the stage. During the two-hour event, each made a short speech and took turns answering questions about global affairs.

    A couple hundred people protested the event in downtown Toronto, aiming most of their anger at Bush’s policies, including the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

    The moderator, former New Brunswick Premier Frank McKenna, asked the politicians about Afghanistan, Cuba, Darfur, Rwanda and gay rights but conceded at the end of the event that he had not been able to spark a battle between the two former leaders.

    “Presidents 2, McKenna nothing,” he said. The cordial and conversational meeting between Bush and Clinton was remarkable mostly for its warmth. They disagreed on gay rights and the impact of the Iraq war on Afghanistan, but otherwise defended each other’s record and insisted the presidency was harder than it looked.

    “If we have an argument up here, you’ll think it’s cute,” said Clinton, but he warned at the start of the event they would do their best to thwart expectations for a fight. They did just that. After Clinton lamented his failure to prevent the genocide in Rwanda as the “greatest regret of my presidency,” Bush chided him for playing down the difficulty of putting together a multilateral coalition to stop tragedies.

    “I think you’re being tough on yourself,” he told Clinton, explaining he, too, had been unable to convince a multinational group to stop the killings and starvation in Darfur, Sudan.

    On Sudan, Clinton defended Bush, saying: “Sudan is a complicated country. … I think he did all he could do.”

    Hollywood doesn’t want to rock the boat. If they abandon Obama now, they fear at the very least, their state’s problems and their own will be shelved by him (Swartz is looking for a bailout) . My sense is…. most of the Hollywood elite are streetwise people who came from nothing. They know a BS sales pitch when they hear it. And they listened attentively when Obama played Johnny the dunce at the reason behind the protests.

    Obama was there collecting his due. (advanced fee for services rendered) Should Obama fail to deliver on his unreported promises to Hollywood, they will most certainly dry up any future donations to Obama over the next 3.5 yrs. This is Chicago style politics. Having your rich clients pay in advance for protection only Obama can guarantee. It’s called:

    And this is the last and final time they will be sitting at his table, if he fails to deliver on his promises..

    What a shame ‘Mine that Bird’ is a gelding. The union of these two horses may have produced another line of spectacular contenders in the future. So, it is left for Rachael Alexander to pass on her genes of ‘heart, speed and perseverance’ alone to her forthcoming offspring. 40. Jan H, I don’t know you, but i agree with the brunt of your concerns as stated above. I particularly am impressed by this quote from your Jerusalem Post citation:

    “What’s interesting about Abbas’s hardline position,” wrote The Washington Post’s Jackson Diehl, who conducted the interview along with a colleague, “is what it says about the message that Obama’s first Middle East steps have sent to Palestinians and Arab governments.” While the Bush administration placed the onus for change in the Middle East on the Palestinians, Diehl wrote, the Obama administration had shifted the focus to Israel. The upshot, wrote Diehl, is that “in the Obama administration, so far, it’s easy being Palestinian.” ”

    What a shame what is happening there, and how arrogant is Sir Barksalot.

  41. Oopsey- I have another post caught in the filter. Someone may be able to fish it out of Spambot, if they have an extra minute or two..

    Thanks-

  42. wwoebi,

    As usual, you are absolutely right. Great post!

    Just look at how much damage this idiot has done in just the few months he has been in office. And it hasn’t just been to the U.S.

    Nope! This idiot is a world-wide opportunity offender.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Dick Morris has provided great cover for Hillary. Thanks, Dick- now everyone will be looking elsewhere instead of at her.
    Amazing how people are so sure a room can only be decorated the way they see it-
  44. If Dick Morris worked for me he would be fired. His insights on what is occurring are fundamentally wrong, he has no sense of where things are headed and he is so consumed with Clinton pychosis that it taints everything he says and does. If he had any idea what he is talking about he would know that Hillary is running around the world trying to hold things together while Emperor Gleuteus Maximus throws the entire country under the bus. I bet you if I went through my notes I could find you forty times he has been wrong, and what he says above if number forty one. A couple weeks ago, he was singing a different tune. I do not think he gets his information from insiders. He makes it up as he goes along.
  45. As a gay man I marched here in California on Tuesday night after the courts decision. I cant tell you how many I spoke to who said they voted for Hillary in the primary then Obama in the general and now they feel shafted. When I told some that I voted for McCain after Hillary I did not recieve the same wrath of a reaction I might have back in September or October. The gay community is slowly waking up to the gay hating obama.
    Dozens of gay discharged soildiers have sent the president letters asking him to fufill his promise to end Dont Ask Dont tell he has sent staff written letters back to them stating that he would like to but needs “congressional approval” which is a ball face lie as he could instantly by executive order. Hillary would have overturned this ban for our community instantly as she knew we represented part of her base. She made sure we recieved partner benefits. I applaude admin for raising the fact that countless times she has supported our community boldly when it was not always politically easy to do so.
  46. Back to Morris for a second. The phenomenon he talks about of appointing too many cooks is pervasive in all areas of Bambi’s administration, not just foreign affairs. Like I said before–18 czars is what I was told today. It is a mark of organizational incompetence. If everyone is resonsible then no one is responsible. To me it is symptomatic of a drowning man. This is a very serious problem for the country, yet Morris sees everything through the prism of Clinton hate. His opinion is worth less than nothing.
  47. A friend of mine who is very attuned to what is happening told me today for the third time that Bambi said no one needs to make more than $50,000 per year. I asked her to find me the quote. If she does I will post it here.
  48. Dick Morris resurrected his career after his own public humiliation (how ironic he is always calling Bill undisciplined) by making a cottage industry of writing loathsome articles about his former employer and spouse. Even during the campaign when he was anti-Obama I could never feel clean buying any of the crap he wrote…in his case the enemy of my enemy was not my friend.
    Hillary has far greater coverage as SOS than would ever have had remaining in the Senate(see Kerry, Lieberman, Kennedy, Dodd, and other losers who rarely gain the attention Hillary does). While I still have grave reservations about her being part of Obama’s team, there is no doubt she is a very well received and respected SOS.
    As for Bill, he has been out of office for nearly 10 yrs, and has remained a very popular and well respercted former POTUS. Bill has done more for the people in this country as well as the world, than bambi could ever hope to achieve. The fact that Bambi has surrounded himself with almost every ex-Clinton appontee/advisor speaks volumes for the fact that Bambi knew he had no experience and needed people who Bill and Hillary had faith in(some of that faith unfortunastely was not well founded).
    The thing about Morris is he is seldom right but never in doubt.
    Take the old Ben Graham paradigm: if you could train a chimpanzee to flip a coin and call it heads and he flipped enough coins, then he would be right 50% of the time.
    Morris’s batting average is much less. Why? Because with him the only thing that matters is Clinton hate. And it taints every single forecast and prognostication.
    American capitalism gone with a whimper
    It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.
    True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.
    Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.
    First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their “right” to choke down a McDonalds burger or a BurgerKing burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our “democracy”. Pride blind the foolish.
    Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different “branches and denominations” were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the “winning” side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the “winning” side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.
    The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America’s short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.
    These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?
  54. JACK WELCH EVALUATES MR OBAMA
    Jack Welch, former CEO of General Electric scorched Barack Obama’s plans in a presentation yesterday in Boston. Welch, author of Jack, Straight From the Gut, pulled absolutely no punches.
    Bloomberg reports: Jack Welch, former chief executive officer of General Electric Co., criticized the government- backed bankruptcy of Chrysler LLC for favoring unions at the expense of creditors and said President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus programs will cause budget deficits.
    “I don’t particularly like where he’s taking us,” Welch said, referring to Obama, during an interview yesterday at the Boston Convention Center. Welch, 73, who led GE from 1981 to 2001, was a guest speaker at the New England Business Xpo.
    “To get the money he needs, he has to have a fake budget,” Welch said. “He’s fooling people about how we’re going to have the top line support the programs in the middle without enormous taxes and some programs not going.”
    Who in Washington and our mainstream media are calling Obama and team on the carpet for this charade? In order for capitalism, free markets, and ultimately democracy to thrive there needs to be accountability and transparency in the process.
    We will not achieve the necessary accountability and transparency without serious questioning and rigorous debate on the issues. Given the current makeup of our legislative bodies, the risks to our country are significant. Without a legislative check, the pressure on the media to expose the massive costs – financial and otherwise – of the Obama agenda are paramount.
    Aside from Bloomberg and typically the Wall Street Journal, what other outlets are holding Obama accountable? Who will challenge Obama on his anemic cuts to his MASSIVE budget? When an administration is only able to cut one half of one per cent from a $3.5 trillion budget, you know we have problems. (snip)
    Smooth talking ’salespeople’ can sell ice to the Eskimos, but ultimately our country needs substance over style!!
  55. Good Morning all.
    We all need to purchase on line subscriptions to the Wall Street Journal.
  56. I can’t believe that at one point of the election season I actually started watching Fox News faithfully, listened to Hannity on the radio, etc. Dick Morris was a drooling maggot back then and he still is.
  57. Question: Why can’t obama, aka Emperor Gleuteus Maximus be more like the court nominee he has appointed? (Asks Larry Johnson at No Quarter. My response follows:)
    Answer: Simple: By ommitting critical details, he can be all things to all people. Fundamentally, Gleuteus is a brand used by corporate interests to bamboozle the public while they are busy looting them. He is a perfect fit in our consumption oriented consumer driven culture, where the test of the product is not whether it works, but whether it makes you feel good. Of course, there is always a day of reckoning for him, but also for us, towit:
    “This new ship here is fitted to the reported increase of knowledge among mankind. Namely, she is cumbered end to end with bells and trumpets and clocks and wires, it has been told to me, can call voices out of the air to con the ship while her crew sleep. But sleep Thou lightly. It has not been told to me yet that the Sea has ceased to be the Sea.”–Rudyard Kipling.
    White House to Alter Ban On Stimulus Lobbying
    By ELIZABETH WILLIAMSON
    WASHINGTON — White House officials said Friday they would revise a presidential directive banning lobbyists from talking with administration staff about programs funded by the economic-stimulus plan.
    The lobbyist ban drew objections and threats of lawsuits from the American League of Lobbyists, the American Civil Liberties Union and Citizens for Ethics and Responsibility in Washington. The AFL-CIO and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce also objected.
    The White House is altering the ban by broadening it: Registered lobbyists and non-lobbyists alike must now submit written questions about stimulus money obtained through competitive bidding. More-general inquiries can be made in person or by telephone.
    A March 20 order required registered lobbyists to submit specific stimulus-spending queries in writing only. It aimed to limit undue influence over spending in the $787 billion stimulus package, but caused unintended consequences.
    Some government officials, fearful of violating the policy, refused to speak with lobbyists on any stimulus question. Lobbyists worked around the ban by having lawyers, consultants or company officials contact the government with questions.
    Norm Eisen, the president’s special counsel for ethics, said the change resulted from discussions with government agencies and groups that backed the effort toward transparency, not just critics.
  59. Norm Eisen, the president’s special counsel for ethics, said the change resulted from discussions with government agencies and groups that backed the effort toward transparency, not just critics.
    ————————————————–
    Norm Eisen is a lying son of a bitch. Transparency is the last thing in the world that Obama and his cronies wanted. This was forced down Obamas throat by critics who demanded to know where taxpayer money was going. Common sense and antedotal evidence tells you that much. Its harder to loot when the floodlights are turned on.
  60. Do you think there was alot of competitive bidding for the stimulus projects in Chicago?–dream on. It was Tinker to Evers to Chance for the Daley Machine–and the Combine.
  61. What a deal for the Chicago crew. The once in a lifetime chance to loot the net worth of every American, through their man Barack Hussein Obama.
  62. There is an outfit called Grassroots Campaigns that is posting placards in major cities in the Pacific Northwest advertising summer jobs going door to door raising money for the ACLU. Thousands of dollars so they say. I called the number to see what this was about. Spoke to a bot who had moved here from California after receiving a degree in political science which was enough to qualify him as an expert on most any subject in my courtroom. He asked me if I knew anything about the ACLU, and I told him I had worked hard over the years to stay ignorant on the subject when I learned it was founded by Lenin’s little buddy Roger Baldwin, until Michael Dukakis set the world on fire by announcing he was a card carrying member and then I just had to get a card. I asked him what he knew about them. He told me they are a good organization which defends the rights of ordinary Americans, including racists. I told him that sounds like a wonderful reason to raise money for them. He then told me that his organization is independent. I asked him if he was independent of ACORN and he assured me they were. I do not believe him. I asked him who else they represented and he told me they are a fine organization, founded by Bruce Babbitt as a front, but that was okay. Actually it is not. He asked about me. I told him I was a Democrat and did not support Obama. That was his que to end the conversation, but before he could do so, I thanked him for the valuable information he had given me. I then went to the website. It looked like a clearasil commerical, and in the masthead was a pronouncement from Gletutus Maximus. I suspect this is a front organization, and I further suspect that the most effective canvassers are offered the opportunity to go to Camp Obama, in preparation for 2010.
  63. The Babbit organization is The League of Conservation Voters. I inadvertently ommitted that from the above.
  64. A few months ago, I was told that LR was cautiously optimistic that he could assert some influence over Bambi, and was therefore reluctant to criticize. Bambi proved unreceptive, ergo the following which pinpoints the terrible misallocation of resources. I think this is fairly accurate. It is consistent with what Hank Greenberg said when he stated that Obama should have provided guarantees to AIG, rather than bailing them out. This is a move away from free market capitalism, and toward state capitalism as we see in emerging markets.
    ———————————————————-
    So much money had been sent down into the sewers of London and Wall Street, for bailing out international financial swindlers, that there is virtually nothing left over, in Obama’s stated opinion, for either expansion of production, or health care. Rather than imposing rising death-rates on the U.S. population (through medical rationing) he should have cancelled bail-outs to the fraudulent claims of the planet’s greatest financial swindlers, by putting the system into bankruptcy-reorganization. He should have acted to increase the productive output of the nation’s economy, rather than wrecking it with lunatic, pro-genocidal, neo-malthusian ruin. His policy of practice has become, thus far: sacrifice the baby for the sake of the very, very, dirty, financial bath-water!
  65. “I think if she had the speech to do all over again, I think she’d change that word,” presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters.”
    —–
    In the campaign, it was “WORDS MATTER”……words that are said; not when you decided to CHANGE the words…..perhaps the change he promised was “CHANGE in my WORDS”…..
    BO CANNOT BE TRUSTED IN ANY OF HIS WORDS!!!!!!!
  66. Hillary goes to India in July! S. M. Krishna, her newly appointed Indian counterpart is a fashionable modern man with egalitarian outlook, according to my brother in India.
    www dot indianexpress dot com/news/hillary-calls-krishna-likely-to-visit-india-in-july/468493/
    The article has a nice picture of Hillary. As you may know, India had an election with the incumbent party (Congress) winning with a greater majority. As one journalist reported people went for those candidates who showed modesty, honesty and seriousness, among them even some young women who routed old long term male politicians — people went for their education and the smarts. India also used its e-voting machines successfully second time in a row since 2004. On NQ we had a discussion with a woman who is fighting to go back to paper ballots. If India can pull off a successful e-voting, why can’t the US? Well, it is rhetorical question, don’t answer it. India has a non-partisan election commission that does not answer to any political wing and takes its duty seriously (of course there are corrupt politicians who try to bribe the electorate but since it is a secret ballot, the voters need not vote they way they were bribed!). If anybody is interested about their e-voting machines, check their website (google India election commission, read about the voting machines design, it is a combination of low-tech and hi-tech to prevent fraud — of course, US being the wealthy first world country have to have all fancy machines made by some corporate bigwig who does not release their proprietary s/w, that is capitalism for you).
  67. “I think if she had the speech to do all over again, I think she’d change that word,” presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters.”
    ————————————
    There are no do-overs in life. She is bound by what she said. And regardless of what the pathetic Pillsbury doughboy Gibbs says, that was a speech, not an off the cuff remark, the difference being that she had the opportunity to weigh the words, and deliberate over them before they were uttered. Therefore, she is in a double bind,
  69. Woodward Plots to Capture Obama White House in Next Book: Beltway insiders say the White House appears to be taking pains to avoid leaks to the Washington Post icon, who is working on a new book about the administration
    FOXNews.com
    Saturday, May 30, 2009
    Best-selling journalist Bob Woodward has found the topic for his next book: The Obama administration. And apparently that has the Obama White House circling the wagons.
    White House Counsel Greg Craig circulated a memo inside the West Wing earlier this month instructing officials hit up for information by authors or journalists writing on the administration to clear interview requests with the press office. An Obama spokesman told The New Republic that the memo was not sent in regards to a specific journalist, but Beltway insiders say the White House probably is taking pains to avoid leaks to the Washington Post icon.
    “Every White House is wary of Woodward,” New York Times White House correspondent Peter Baker, who worked alongside Woodward at the Post, told The New Republic.
    Woodward, who has been quietly reporting a new book on the Obama White House since the inauguration, is seen as highly motivated to hit a homerun after his last project, “The War Within” — the fourth and final book he wrote on the Bush administration — only sold 159,000 copies, according to Nielsen BookScan. His third Bush installment, “State of Denial,” sold more than half a million.
    Woodward told The New Republic he’s “making progress” on the Obama book. “Over my four decades of working on books, you find that some people will help, some people won’t help,” Woodward told the magazine. “Some will help at certain stages and not at others, some people won’t help at the beginning but will help later on. That’s reporting.”
