Culture Of Corruption: Barack Obama, Rezko, Blagojevich, Kennedy

It’s not Santa Claus coming to town. It’s Barack Obama and the Chicago Culture of Corruption setting up shop – a future newer and bigger corruption mill in Washington, D.C. The “Change” is new and improved and expanded CORRUPTION.

Let’s examine what today’s corruption eruption in Chicago means. We will dig into our archives to explain today’s developments.

First however, we hope that David Patterson, the Governor of New York keeps himself free of corrupt Obama influence when deciding on who he will appoint as New York Senator to replace the irreplaceable Hillary Clinton. Patterson should steer clear of any “deals” to appoint Caroline Kennedy that come with tainted promises and ensnarement in the Chicago corruption coils.

As we dig through our extensive, first-to-blog-about-Rezko archives on Obama/Rezko and Chicago corruption there are several major points which our readers should be aware of:

  1. This is NOT THE BIG ONE. The complaint filed against Obama pal Governor Rod Blagojevich is a situation forced on Prosecutor Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald acted in an emergency manner to stop the Obama Senate seat from going to another corrupt Dimocrat. “We were in the middle of a corruption crime spree and we wanted to stop it.” said Fitzgerald.
  2. Corrupt Illinois Governor Blagojevich, as a candidate in 2003, ran on a platform of reform and change and that he would clean up the corruption of Republican Governor George Ryan. Ryan is currently serving a 6 year prison term due to raketeering and fraud. Now the evidence of corruption by Governor Blagojevich continues to mount. Like Obama, Governor Blagojevich spouted many flowery words about “reform” but the corrupt acts came stinking forth once in office.
  3. During the past year and a half every time we documented the latest instances of Chicago corruption the Hopium addicts would note that Governor Blagojevich and Barack Obama were not implicated in any way in the corruption. News accounts of Chicago corruption indeed would make specific mention of the fact that Governor Blagojevich and Barack Obama were not implicated in the corruption. Our analysis was fair and we made specfic mention of the disclaimers but we also would note how valueless those disclaimers were. We were and are correct.
  4. Obama says he had no contact with Blagojevich regarding his senate seat. “I had no contact with the governor or his office and so I was not aware of what was happening, ” Obama told reporters today in Chicago. “It’s a sad day for Illinois. Beyond that, I don’t think it’s appropriate to comment.”
But the top of Ali-Bama’s Forty Thieves says Obama did speak with Blagojevich about the job. But on November 23, 2008, his senior adviser David Axelrod appeared on Fox News Chicago and said something quite different. While insisting that the President-elect had not expressed a favorite to replace him, and his inclination was to avoid being a “kingmaker,” Axelrod said, “I know he’s talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them.”
  5. Rezko, Rezko, Rezko. Obama slumlord friend and bagman Antoin “Tony” Rezko is in this up to his neck. In today’s complaint the allegation is made that Blagojevich conspired with Rezko and Stuart Levine to obtain financial benefits for Blagojevich and his campaign committee.
  6. If Rezko wants to avoid a very very long prison sentence Rezko needs to “flip” on someone that Fitzgerald needs evidence on for a conviction. Clearly today’s developments destroy Blagojevich and Fitzgerald does not need further evidence to do Blogojevich in. As we wrote a while back, if Rezko wants to avoid jail, Obama is his “get out of jail free” card. Rezko must flip on Obama to get out of jail. We have documented that the prosecutor is looking into the Obama/Rezko house deal, which stinks.
  7. When we stated immediately above that Obama is Rezko’s “get out of jail free” card we do not mean by getting a pardon from Obama. We mean that Fitzgerald and Rezko have to keep the calendar in mind. Fitzgerald acted against Blagojevich in an emergency fashion today before full indictments are ready and ripe. Fitzgerald will likely act further and hopefully soon. Rezko too needs to cooperate fully well before the inauguration in January. What does Tony Rezko know and when will he say it?
  8. Patrick Fitzgerald must be reappointed as federal prosecutor and not fired. PINO Big Blogs and Dimocrats (along with us) praised Fitzgerald when he was chasing George W. corruption. Fitzgerald has hunted down Republicans and Democrats. Fitzgerald might be the next Archibald Cox or the next Leon Jaworski. Keep hunting Pat.

The news accounts of today’s developments:

What did Ali-Bama And The Forty Thieves know and when did they know it? ABC News:

Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich wanted President-elect Barack Obama “to put something together&something big” in exchange for going along with Obama’s choice to fill his vacant U.S. Senate seat, according to a FBI affidavit unsealed following the governor’s stunning arrest.

“I’ve got this thing and it’s f***ing golden, and, uh, uh, I’m just not giving it up for f***in’ nothing. I’m not gonna do it. And I can always use it. I can parachute me there,” Blagojevich said in a phone call secretly recorded by the FBI on Nov. 5, the day after the election, according to the affidavit.

“It is conduct that would make Lincoln roll over in his grave,” said U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald in announcing the charges today in Chicago.

He said the governor’s efforts to “sell” the Senate seat was the “most sinister and appalling” of a range of alleged corrupt acts detailed in today’s case.

Fitzgerald said “there’s no reference in the complaint to any conversations involving the president-elect or indicating that the president-elect was aware of it, and that’s all I can say.” His comment did not close the door on the possibility that Obama or someone on his staff may have known of some aspect of the governor’s demands.

Lincoln is all spun out in his grave what with all the Lincoln and Obama comparisons made by know nothings.

ABC News also reports that Blagojevich wanted Obama himself to provide appointments to the presidential cabinet in typical Chicago corruption fashion:

The FBI says Blagojevich wanted an appointment to the Obama cabinet as Secretary of Health and Human Services, a well-paying job, or huge campaign contributions as the price for naming Obama’s successor. [snip]

Blagojevich also sought a high paying job for his wife, according to the FBI. “Is there a play here, with these guys, with her” to work for a firm in Washington or New York, he reportedly asked.

The FBI affidavit said Blagojevich had been told by an adviser “the president-elect can get Rod Blagojevich’s wife on paid corporate boards in exchange for naming the president-elect’s pick to the Senate.”

Told by two other advisers he has to “suck it up” for two years, the FBI says it heard Blagojevich complain he has to give this “motherf***er [the president-elect] his senator. F*** him. For nothing? F*** him.”

The governor is heard saying he will pick another candidate “before I just give f***ing [Senate Candidate l] a f***ing Senate seat and I don’t get anything.”

According to the affidavit, one candidate for the senate seat, identified as Senate Candidate 5, promised to “raise money” for Blagojevich. The governor described, in a recorded call, an earlier approach by an associate of Senate Candidate 5.

“We were approached ‘pay to play.’ That, you know he’d raise me 500 grand. An emissary came. Then the other guy would raise a million, if I made him (Senate Candidate 5) a Senator,” Blagojevich was quoted as saying.

Buying public office is corruption pure and simple. That’s what Obama slumlord friend and bagman Rezko is in prison for. Who is “Candidate 5?” What did Obama know and when did he know it?
[More than a hint: several accounts, including the Smoking Gun say “Candidate 5” is Obama crony and “godfather” Emil Jones, the president of the Illinois State Senate elected from the 14th District. On December 6 Fox News reported that Emil Jones was the likely Obama replacement. Some accounts think “Candidate 5” is Jesse Jackson, Jr.]

Obama of Chicago, Illinois. “If Illinois isn’t the most corrupt state in the United States, it sure is one hell of the competitors,” said the head of the FBI’s Chicago office, Robert Grant.

The Chicago Tribune:

Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff, John Harris, were arrested by FBI agents on federal corruption charges Tuesday morning. [snip]

In one charge related to the appointment of a senator to replace Barack Obama, prosecutors allege that Blagojevich sought appointment for himself as secretary of Health and Human Services in the new Obama administration, or a lucrative job with a union, in exchange for appointing a union-preferred candidate.

What union? Who did Blagojevich speak with? Ali-Bama or one of his Forty Thieves? [More than a hint: Marc Ambinder says the union and official is likely Andy Stern of the SEIU.]

The Tribune also notes the Chicago way (the Obama way) of punishing newspapers that tell the truth.

Another charge alleges Blagojevich and Harris conspired to demand the firing of Chicago Tribune editorial board members responsible for editorials critical of him in exchange for state help with the sale of Wrigley Field, the Chicago Cubs baseball stadium owned by Tribune Co.

Blagojevich and Harris, along with others, obtained and sought to gain financial benefits for the governor, members of his family and his campaign fund in exchange for appointments to state boards and commissions, state jobs and state contracts, according to the charges.

“The breadth of corruption laid out in these charges is staggering,” U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said in a statement.

“They allege that Blagojevich put a ‘for sale’ sign on the naming of a United States senator; involved himself personally in pay-to-play schemes with the urgency of a salesman meeting his annual sales target; and corruptly used his office in an effort to trample editorial voices of criticism.”

The pay-to-play schemes sound identical to the charges Antoin “Tony” Rezko was convicted on.

The Smoking Gun:

Attached to the U.S. District Court complaint is an FBI affidavit, excerpted below, alleging that Blagojevich was caught on wiretaps noting that the Senate seat “is a fucking valuable thing, you just don’t give it away for nothing.” He was also recorded saying that unless “I get something real good,” he would appoint himself to the vacancy. “I’m going to keep this Senate option for me a real possibility, you know, and therefore I can drive a hard bargain. You hear what I’m saying. And if I don’t get what I want and I’m not satisfied with it, then I’ll just take the Senate seat myself.” According to surreptitiously recorded conversations, Blagojevich spoke with associates about the possibility of trading the Senate post for either an ambassadorship or a Cabinet post. [snip]

During a wiretapped November 10 call, a frustrated and financially strapped Blagojevich referred to Obama as a “motherfucker” and said that he would not appoint an ally of the President-elect to the Senate vacancy if “I don’t get anything.” Referring to Obama, Blagojevich exclaimed, “Fuck him. For nothing? Fuck him.” In a November 11 conversation, Blagojevich remarked that he knew Obama wanted Valerie Jarrett, a longtime confidante, to succeed him, “but they’re not willing to give me anything except appreciation. Fuck them.”

Get ready – the above quotes will be used to distance Obama from Blagojevich by Hopium addicts. To us it sounds like a falling out among thieves. The questions that must be answered by Ali-Bama and his Forty Thieves is what was offered by whom to whom? Also if Blogojevich made unethical or illegal requests to Ali-Bama and his Forty Thieves did Obama or his cronies report the overtures to federal prosecutors?

Barack Obama got earmarks for the hospital Michelle Obama worked for. The hospital then gave Michelle Obama a huge raise in pay and title. The very definition of conflict of interest. That is the Chicago way. Blagojevich has a wife too:

A 76-page FBI affidavit said the 51-year-old Democratic governor was intercepted on court-authorized wiretaps over the last month conspiring to sell or trade the vacant Senate seat for personal benefits for himself and his wife, Patti.[snip]

It said Blagojevich also talked about getting his wife placed on corporate boards where she might get $150,000 a year in director’s fees. [snip]

The affidavit said Blagojevich expressed frustration at being “stuck” as governor and that he would have access to greater resources if he were indicted while in the U.S. Senate than while sitting as governor.

Outright bribe from Candidate 5:

On Dec. 4, Blagojevich allegedly told an advisor that he might “get some (money) up front, maybe” from Senate Candidate 5, if he named Senate Candidate 5 to the Senate seat, to insure that Senate Candidate 5 kept a promise about raising money for Blagojevich if he ran for re-election.

In a recorded conversation on Oct. 31, Blagojevich claimed he was approached by an associate of Senate Candidate 5 as follows: “We were approached to ‘pay to play.’ That, you know, he’d raise 500 grand. An emissary came. Then the other guy would raise a million, if I made him (Senate Candidate 5) a Senator.” [snip]

On Oct. 21, the government obtained a court order authorizing the interception of conversations in both a personal office and a conference room used by Blagojevich at the offices of Friends of Blagojevich. The FBI began intercepting conversations in those rooms on the morning of Oct. 22.[snip]

On Nov. 10, Blagojevich, his wife, Harris, Governor General Counsel, Advisor B and other Washington-based advisors participated at different times in a two-hour phone call in which they allegedly discussed, among other things, a deal involving the SEIU.

Harris allegedly said they could work out a deal with the union and the President-elect where SEIU could help the President-elect with Blagojevich’s appointment of Senate Candidate 1, while Blagojevich would obtain a position as the national director of the Change to Win campaign and SEIU would get something favorable from the President-elect in the future. [snip]

During the Nov. 12 conversation, Blagojevich allegedly explained the non-profit organization idea to SEIU Official and said that it could help Senate Candidate 1. The union official agreed to “put that flag up and see where it goes,” although the official also had said he wasn’t certain if Senate Candidate 1 wanted the official to keep pushing her candidacy. Senate Candidate 1 eventually removed herself from consideration for the open seat.

The Democrats and Big Blogs celebrated, as did we, when Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald went after the corrupt Bush government. At the time the pending indictment of George W. cronies was called “Fitzmas”. No doubt the PINO Big Blogs and Dimocrats will now celebrate with us as Prosecutor Fitzgerald chases the Chicago Culture Of Corruption.

Merry Fitzmas! everybody.

    Admin,

In case you didn’t see this:

My local radio jock, Al Romney (out of Albany) says Paterson could solve the problem of impropriety by advertising the NYS senate seat on E-Bay, selling it to the highest bidder and giving the money to the state to pay off debt.

    ROTFLMFAO!

  • NewMexicoFan

I love your sense of humor and play with words. Merry Fitzmas. It will be interesting to see where this leads. We have been waiting for this announcement for a long time. It is almost anticlimatic. Will it fry the big fish? I sure wish I had a crystal ball.

You laydown with dogs with fleas, you have fleas.

Is O scratching yet? and will it matter.

  • basil9

    For real? What is???????
Also, anyone else think what a stupid A$$ Blago is to have been caught on wiretap when he’s gotta know he’s under Fitz’s microphone!
Hopefully, BO will also provide his own undoing. I posted yesterday some of his recent obnoxious comments about his smoking habit. “I think I gotta cut myself some slack,” he said. “After all, I am prez!” (or something to that effect) He went on to pat himself on the back for the amazing job he’s done in cutting down on cigs despite the pressure.

“There are times where I’ve fallen off the wagon,” the president-elect said when asked in a broadcast interview whether he has kicked the habit.
“I’ve done a terrific job, under the circumstances, of making myself much healthier,” he said.
Obama said in that interview that he had bummed a cigarette a couple of times during the campaign. “But I figure, seeing as I’m running for president, I need to cut myself a little slack,” he said.

  • basil9

    😳

Some of my post got cut off.
    ADMIN!
I was saying how stunned I am by your knowledge.
If “This isn’t the big one,” what the heck is??????

    Any clues?

  • S

hmmm…just thinking again…first Axelrod said on fox that Obama had spoken to Blag about the senate seat and possible candidates…and now they are saying that Axelrod misspoke…but what if that conversation with O and Blag is also on tape and part of the wiretapping…then Fitz would have that conversation too…

  • JanH

    Just wait,

As par for any black cloud hanging over Obama, he and his handlers will come up with at least 10 different versions/explanations for his involvement/non-involvement with Blag…

Same as he did with Rev. Wright, Rezko, etc…

  • Illinois Underground

Merry Fitzmas to you, too, Admin! And Merry Fitzmas to you all, Hillfriends! I can’t wait to see where this leads….. I hear that tonight in Springfield they’re pushing to strip the Gov of the appointment power and hold a special election. This will favor the Illinois insiders, the well-funded and the well-connected only slightly less than an outright appointment.

I just don’t know how BO will distance himself from his bosom buddies Rod and Tony. He’s in hip-deep – from the Rezko house deal, to years worth of state-funded development deals for Rezko, to federally funded pay raises for Michelle. Fitz better work fast.

Merry Fitzmas… and a Paddy New Year, too!

Admin: Great and detailed article. The games these people play are so corrupt, and it frightening to think, that these type of people are in charge of our laws.

Of course, BO knew about this. How could he not? He appointed Jarrett an advisor instead.

  • hwc

The media ball-washing is back in full force. The AP is now saying that Obama and Blago were in rival camps and barely knew each other.

The Sargeant Schultz of Chicago politics. Everyone he touches is a terrorist bomber, racist preacher, or corrupt politician. Obama says, “I Know Nothing. Nothing!” and all his little chirpies in the media start twittering, “See, he knows nothing. Nothing. He’s pure as the driven snow. He had no idea!”.

BTW, does anyone but me think that John Kerry will try to derail Clinton’s confirmation in the Foreign Relations Committee? I’m mad about a lot of things is election, but to add insult to injury I’m still stuck with that a-hole as my Senator.

    —————————————
Admin. brilliant insight. Every point you make. But this one is especially key.

Fitzgerald is a bipartisan public official who is committed to serving the nation.

We now know there are other provisions in Article II of the Constitution which the president elect does not subscribe to i.e. eligiblility requirements.

But surely even he understands that it is the duty of the President of the United States to faithfully enforce the laws of this country.

As a practical matter, he mus NOT fire Fitzgerald in the middle of a sensitive complex and critical investigation like this one.

It is critical to our nation that the thugocracy that operates in the dark alleys of Chicago, and seeks to spread its tentacles across the country be investigated, indicted and incarcerated.

Lest we forget, this is the most corrupt political machine in the nation–the Illionois Combine.

  • JanH

    hwc,

If not Kerry, then Kennedy for sure. They are both so intimidated by Hillary that it’s laughable. She runs circles around them in the brains, ethics, and honesty department.

  • ABM90

The revalations that were made today about Chicago and the Obama political support system is a disgrace tat will cost this country dearly in world trust and respect. This is what we get for closing our eyes and fearing the wrath of Obama followers if we press him for answers to his politically corrupt campaign and the obvious dirty tricks he has approved to steal the nomination from Hillary. His denials to all questions reminds me of the old song of my early years “Yes we have no bananas We have no bananas today.” We are the image of a Banana Republic at best and a rudderless ship at worst. It is time to stop this coronation and hold full scale hearings on this stealth candidate.

By ABM90. I only hope that the holidays do not cause a delay in the wheels of justice and Jan 20 will come and go and this phoney takes office with the backdoor keyes to the Whitehouse

  • wbboei

BTW, does anyone but me think that John Kerry will try to derail Clinton’s confirmation in the Foreign Relations Committee?
    ————————————–
My opinion: not a chance. If he does all hell will break loose. Can you imagine that verbose, slow witted, Harvard trained, hen pecked, skull and bones know nothing going up our girl mano a mana. I will gladly write his obituary. Granted he made some very dumb comments about our soldiers in Iraq. But even he is not that stupid.

  • wbboei

Jan- Ireland loves Hillary lest we forget. So if Kerry and Kennedy try to pull a fast one which is tough for people who talk slow like they do, they will be kissing the blarney stone on a barrom floor.

  • JanH

    WOW ABM90!

    Very well said!

  • JanH

    wbboei,

LOL…I would like to see that!

  • wbboei

Admin–how I would love to see you cross examine bambi in a courtroom. I have a hunch that half way though your thorough and exhaustive examination, after he said it was a sad day for America 20 times, took the fifth amendement 200 times, and claimed he knew nothing 2000 times, he would rise from the witness chair, walk over to the bailiff, slip the cuffs on himself, and ask to be led out of the courtroom.

  • admin

wbboei, it would be an very productive cross examination. Tomorrow’s article will lay out an additional path we would like to see happen.

Back in mid 2007 we wrote that Fitzgerald posed the greatest threat to Obama. Tonight we are hearing many other voices catching up to us.

HWC is right that excuses are being concocted by Big Media blowhards (George Stephanoupoulos was particularly bad on ABC World News). But many in Big Media respect Fitzgerald and are removing their horse blinkers.

Here is an appreciated complimentary email we received from one of our shy readers who does not post comments:

“To the Staff of Hillary Is 44: If ever anyone had any doubt about the pertinence and relevancy of keeping the “Hillary Is 44″ website up and operational following the November 2008 Presidential election, today’s developments involving the arrest of Illinois Governor Rod R. Blagojevich dispel any such doubt.”

“The Huffington Post produced a surprisingly strong and pointed commentary today (entitled “The Damage He Could Do”) on the breadth and depth of the implications of this matter. You then followed with your more detailed reporting. As this remarkably blatant scandal unfolds, your existing research and contacts honed over the past two years will be invaluable in enabling you to generate reporting unlikely to be found elsewhere.”

“While many members of the national press will have to devote precious time to catching up on the “who are these people” fundamentals of the whole cast of characters, you already know who they are and what their modes of operation have been over the years. That gives the “Hillary Is 44” website an enormous competitive advantage in discovering the extent of the scandal. Thus, there will be renewed and expanded reason to regularly check with the “Hillary Is 44″ website to learn the latest.”

“To those who may have assumed that your website would become merely a “sour grapes” venue regarding the 2008 campaign, the stark reality of today’s news enables you to refute such notions simply by your being positioned to lead in broad and deep reporting on what will be anything but a passing news story.”

  • wbboei

ABM 90: very profound comments. This is a perfect example of why it is so critical for the media to do its job and vet the candidates. Instead these bozos want to bamboozle them. It is a scared trust they have violated. Right or wrong I think of this as a quid pro quo. They get the protection of the first amendment against suits for libel etc. We (the people) get the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth from them. Yes, I am being idealistic, but when they lie and cover up the way they do now, you wonder whether the consititution should be changed to reduce their protection. I would favor that personally–make it more like Britain. I see no reason to continue with a pact which operates to the detriment of our country as this one clearly does. If Bambi is ultimately implicated then I say big media is the one who should also go down hard since they did not vet him, but instead covered things up for him.

Admin: your shy reader very impressive and very right about the public service you have rendered. The ability to tag along behind you on this journey and learn the truth has been a great educational experience for me. No classroom, no campaign and surely no competing blog can offer the frame of reference and in depth insights you do. To say I am grateful to you for everthing you have done is hardly sufficient. So I will just say again thank you.

Summers was the Clintons’ Secretary of Treasury in the 90s, did a great job fixing the economy then (as far as the GOP congress would allow). He’s spent the last few years studying the globalization situaiton and figuring how the Clinton Restoration can tweak the global situation as needed.

Obama works to distance himself from Ill. governor:

It’s Obama’s first big headache since his election last month, and Republicans were anything but eager to let it go away.

Said Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia, the new GOP House whip: “The serious nature of the crimes listed by federal prosecutors raises questions about the interaction with Gov. Blagojevich, President-elect Obama and other high ranking officials who will be working for the future president.”

Added Robert M. “Mike” Duncan, chairman of the Republican National Committee: “Americans expect strong leadership, but President-elect Barack Obama’s comments on the matter are insufficient at best.”

He really did not know him all that well, he never heard that in his sermons, he only was on a committee with him.

As the Kool Aid drinkers hear it again, you have to wonder how many times they can stomach this stuff. But then, if they just hold out long enough he can fire the Special Procecutor, pardon the Gov and Rezko, and bail out the press so they will continue to tell his story. Since the American voters have swallowed his BC none response story hook, line and sinker, it will be easy to do away with the Presidency, and make himself King for Life. Who cares about the consitution. What did they know anyway. Those are old people now, and let us face it, the youth have taken over. They have never had a civics class, and someone would have to explain what the Constitution was to them.

Too bad, as this was a nice country.

Our worst nightmares and fears about BO and his Chicago thugs are slowly, but steadily, coming true(and this with a media so friendly they covered it all up so as to enable Bo to “defeat” Hillary. How ironic they were so afraid of Bill’s associates when this guy has associations with some of the worst characters we have seen in decades.

Do you remember that line in Godfather 3 where Michael Corroleone is in his home alone and he says something to the effect I try to climb out of the sewer but they keep pulling me back in (with his arms raised and facial expression of anguish).

But in the case of Obama, it is not other people pulling him back into the cesspool that spawned him. Rather it is his own ghost of Christmases past. And not too far past at that, since he just talked to the indicted governor.

Maybe it was he was looking for a loan on a larger house. The current mansion is too small for his ego. The Moorish castle at Alhamba in Sunny Spain would be more his speed. Maybe they can tear down the old water tower in the Miracle Mile by the Lake and build a suitable cathedral to him there. Maybe they could change the state tag line from Land of Lincoln to Kingdom of Obama. Follow the yellow brick road, etc.

Blagojevich Scandal: What Did Obama Know, and When Did He Know It?

    Tuesday, December 9, 2008 7:04 PM

By: David A. Patten Article Font Size

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich wanted “something big” from the Obama administration in return for naming its preferred candidate to fill Obama’s Senate seat — and he delivered an expletive-filled tirade when Obama’s representatives apparently refused to go along.

Blagojevich and his chief of staff, John Harris, were arrested Tuesday on charges that they tried to “sell” the U.S. Senate seat that Obama recently vacated. Under Illinois law, naming a replacement falls to Blagojevich.

The FBI says it taped Blagojevich complaining that Obama advisers were telling him that he had to “suck it up . . . and give this mother—-er [the President-elect]] his senator. F— him. For nothing? F— him.”

Obama briefly addressed the arrests Tuesday afternoon, telling the media, “I had no contact with the governor or his office and so I was not aware of what was happening. It’s a sad day for Illinois. Beyond that, I don’t think it’s appropriate to comment.”

The criminal complaint was announced Tuesday by federal prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald, who came to national prominence during the investigation that led to the conviction of Scooter Libby on charges related to the Valerie Plame case.

Fitzgerald stated Tuesday that “there is no allegation in the complaint that the president-elect was aware of it and that is all I can say,” according to ABCNews.com.

The 76-page criminal complaint refers to the president-elect and his representatives at least 40 times, however.

Item No. 99 in the document states that Blagojevich and Harris spoke on Nov. 7 with “Adviser B,” a Washington, D.C.-based consultant presumably working on behalf of the Obama transition team.

During the call, Blagojevich indicated that he would appoint a person the complaint identifies only as “Senate Candidate 1” — presumably a candidate preferred by the Obama administration — in return for Blagojevich being appointed Secretary of Health and Human Services by Obama.

Candidate 1 is generally believed to be Obama insider Valerie Jarrett, who has been mentioned as among the favorites to replace Obama in the Senate.

Harris stated “we wanted our [request] to be reasonable and rather than . . . make it look like some sort of selfish grab for a quid pro quo.

During the call, Blagojevich stated he was hurting “financially.” And Harris said the “financial security” of the Blagojevich family was an issue. At one point, Blagojevich stated outright, “I want to make money,” according to the indictment.

Also discussed during that conference call was a “three-way deal” between the SEIU union, Blagojevich, and Obama. The deal was that Blagojevich would appoint Obama’s preferred candidate, and in return Obama would help Blagojevich win the SEIU appointment to head an organization called “Change to Win.”

ChangetoWin.org describes itself as an organization created by “seven unions and six million workers” to “restore the American Dream of the 21st Century.”

Harris said the three-way deal would give Obama a “buffer so there is no obvious quid pro quo for [the appointment of Senate Candidate 1]. The criminal complaint states, “Adviser B said that he liked the idea of the three-way deal.”

Three days later, the indictment said, Blagojevich told Harris it was unlikely that Obama would name him Secretary of Health and Human Services, or appoint him to be an ambassador, due to the investigation looming over him.

The complaint states that Adviser B and another consultant are believed to have participated in a call during which Blagojevich said they were telling him to “suck it up” for two years, and give this “motherf—er [the President-elect] his senator. F— him. For nothing? F— him.”

Next, states the complaint, Blagojevich says he would appoint another candidate, Senate Candidate 4, “before I just give f—ing [Senate Candidate 1] a f—ing Senate seat and I don’t get anything.”

Senate Candidate 4, the complaint states, is a deputy governor of the State of Illinois. Dean Martinez, Bob Greenlee, and Louanner Peters currently serve as deputy governors.

During the conversations with Obama’s representatives, Blagojevich repeatedly made it clear he would not agree to name “Senate Candidate 1” to fill the position without a quid pro quo from the White House, if only indirectly, according to the complaint. Blagojevich stated he wanted to make $250,000 to $300,000 annually.

The criminal complaint indicates Blagojevich and his staff were confident they could exact something from at least one candidate for the seat, Senate Candidate 5. Senate Candidate 5 is not identified.

Based on the complaint, it remains unclear whether any close Obama associate knew that Blagojevich was seeking monetary gain in return for the Senate appointment. It is possible that having such knowledge without reporting it to authorities in a timely way could raise serious legal issues.

If nothing else, the complaints represent an embarrassment to Obama given his support for Blagojevich’s gubernatorial reelection bid.

The RNC responded to the indictments in part by circulating an Associated Press report from August 2006 in which Obama stated, “We’ve got a governor in Rod Blagojevich who has delivered consistently on behalf of the people of Illinois.”

Also, RNC Chairman Robert M. “Mike” Duncan released a statement calling Obama’s reaction to the arrests “insufficient at best.”

He added, “Given the President-elect’s history of supporting and advising Gov. Blagojevich, he has a responsibility to speak out and fully address the issue.”

  • CountTheVotes

well, it’ll be interesting when Candidate 1 and Candidate 5 turn out to be close advisors to BO…will he throw them under the bus and claim they were not the candidate 1 and 5 he used to know..

  • bluegirl

Admin, excelent article! When I saw bambi on TV today, I thought for sure he was going to say, that’s not the Rod I knew, lol.

I love your sense of humor also, lol.

  • They acted too quick, they should have waited to see who was appointed and if the Obama team had it’s hands in it. If they had waited we could have seen the first and I am sure not the last indictment of the Obama inner circle.

  • Now the question is how much does Blagojevich love his wife and how much dirt does he have on Obama. Will he sell out Obama in order to keep Patti out of prison on a conspiracy charge? She was taped on that 2 hour conference call plotting out strategies so that she got a seat on a board in exchange for anyone being appointed Senator. Speaking of Patti, she really needs to clean up her act she uses the “F” word more than her husband.

  • wbboei

    1. There is a subtle but important difference between how the Associated Press vs. ABC News reported the comments by U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald on Obama’s non-involvement in the Governors schemes. See if you agree with me:

    a. Associated Press: U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald told a news conference prosecutors make “no allegations” Obama was aware of any alleged scheming.

    b. ABCNews.com: Fitzgerald stated Tuesday that “there is no allegation in the complaint that the president-elect was aware of it and that is all I can say,”

    2. These two accounts leave the reader with entirely different impressions of what what the prosecutor said and what it means re. Obama.

    a. Associated Press: says the prosecutors make “no allegation” that obama was aware of the alleged scheming. This conveys the impression that Obama is off the hook in terms of any liability. Whereas-

    b. ABC News: says there is no such allegation “in the complaint”—and that is “all he can say”. This conveys the impression that the investigation is ongoing, and Obama is not off the hook.

    3. This is hardly surprising since Associated Press has been in the tank for Obama since the days of the primary. This is one of their favorite tricks from their bag of dirty tricks.

    4. Rather than giving the reader the full text of what the prosecutor said and letting she or he decide what it means, AP routine substitutes their judgement for that of their reader.

    5. The hell of it is their interpretation is reflects their strong bias in favor of Obama. But the reader would never know it unless he or she saw the original quote.

    6. This is one of the ways propagandists work. I have mentioned others in previous blogs.

awww…the bots can turn a blind eye to anything Obama-lite has done or is connected to that has nefarious leanings. This is another “warms the heart” moment to me to see his handlers scrambling to sweep his involvement all under the rug.

Clinton, Rice break bread, discuss top diplomatic job:

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice invited the woman set to replace her as the nation’s top diplomat, Sen. Hillary Clinton, to dinner Monday night, a State Department spokesman said.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, left, and Sen. Hillary Clinton dined together Monday night.

The dinner took place at Rice’s home in the Watergate complex in downtown Washington, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said. The meeting lasted for two hours, he said.

“They talked just very generally about policy — the challenges, the opportunities — talked a little bit about the job of secretary of state, talked about the ‘building,’ managing a big operation,” McCormack said.

The two dined after Clinton met with members of President-elect Barack Obama’s State Department transition team on Monday.

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said Tuesday that important information often is exchanged during such dinners between outgoing and incoming secretaries of state.

Albright, who was former President Bill Clinton’s top diplomat during his second term, said she had a similar dinner with Colin Powell, President Bush’s first secretary of state, in 2001. Watch Albright give her advice to Obama »

“I’m sure they had a social part of it, but Secretary Rice told her what the major challenges are, how the department works — we call it ‘the building’ — and, generally, I think they are very nice times,” Albright said.

“It’s just a matter of really turning over the most important job in the world on foreign policy,” she added.

Albright said Clinton will have to get up to speed on a number of issues, including the status of negotiations the U.S. is engaged in, who will be part of her team and how she will work with other members of Obama’s national security team.

“I know from talking to her that she has a great sense of excitement and desire to … reintroduce America to the rest of the world,” said Albright, who said she thought that Clinton would be “a very great secretary of state.”

Earlier, Rice said she was looking forward to meeting her successor and said she believes Clinton will do “a great job.”

“I talked with her and we’re going to sit down, and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve known her a long time, and she is someone that I admire,” Rice told CNN on Sunday.

Despite being from different parties — and Clinton’s tough criticism of Bush’s foreign policy while she was a Democratic presidential candidate — Rice has been effusive in her praise of the former first lady.

“President-elect Obama has made his choice, and he’s made a terrific choice. Hillary Clinton is somebody of intelligence, and she’ll do a great job,” Rice told ABC News on Sunday.

“She also has what’s most important to being secretary of state, and that is that you love this country, and you represent it from a basis of faith in its values. And I know that she will do that,” Rice added.

Obama’s decision to tap Clinton as his top diplomat already has brought about changes. On Tuesday, former President Clinton released the corporate sponsors of a Clinton Global Initiative meeting in Hong Kong, a practice he previously has resisted.

The sponsors of last week’s meeting included CLSA, Laureate, the Roberson Foundation, Citi, the Li Ka Shing Foundation, The Economist, HP, Ogilvy, Suzlon, Thomson Reuters and CNN.

The former president agreed to make it a regular practice to disclose the sponsors of his global initiative as part of a deal with the Obama transition team to allow the nomination of his wife to go forward.

He also has agreed to allow State Department officials to review his speeches and other personal activities.

    Questionable associations of Obama:
By The Associated Press – 7 hours ago

In his life and career in Illinois, President-elect Barack Obama has crossed paths with some notable figures who have drawn scorn and scrutiny. Among them:
    ___

GOV. ROD BLAGOJEVICH: Obama has maintained a cordial but distant relationship with Blagojevich during the governor’s tenure.

He has complimented Blagojevich for running “a sound administration” with “the right priorities.” He supported his fellow Democrat for re-election in 2006, even though the governor backed someone else over Obama in the U.S. Senate Democratic primary.

Obama’s circle of major Illinois political allies and supporters is largely separate from Blagojevich’s, with two major exceptions. Both Obama and Blagojevich got extensive money and support from Chicago businessman Antoin “Tony” Rezko. At least one top aide to Obama, Michael Strautmanis, previously worked for Blagojevich.

But Blagojevich’s disdain for Obama was clear in court documents released Tuesday after the Illinois governor was arrested. Blagojevich, accused by federal prosecutors of conspiring to sell or trade for personal benefits the Senate seat left vacant by Obama, was overheard complaining at one point that Obama’s people are “not going to give me anything except appreciation.” He added: “(Expletive) them.”

Obama said Tuesday, “I had no contact with the governor or his office, and so I was not aware of what was happening.”

ANTOIN REZKO: “Tony” Rezko, who raised money for the campaigns of both Obama and Blagojevich, is awaiting sentencing after being convicted in June on charges of using clout with Blagojevich’s administration to help launch a $7 million kickback scheme.

The charges have no connection to Obama, but Rezko is tied to the Illinois senator in other ways.

Rezko and his family donated at least $21,457 to Obama and helped raise over $200,000 more, though not for his presidential bid. He also advised Obama on the purchase of a new Chicago home and, in his wife’s name, purchased a vacant lot next door to the new Obama home when the seller wanted to dispose of both properties at the same time. Rezko then sold a slice of the property to Obama.

Obama has donated Rezko’s contributions to charity and says it was a mistake to work with Rezko on buying the house.

JEREMIAH WRIGHT: Wright was Obama’s minister for 20 years. He helped Obama embrace Christianity, performed Obama’s marriage, and baptized Obama and his two daughters.

Wright was known for thundering “God Damn America” in clips that dominated cable television news programs for weeks last spring. Wright accused the government of creating AIDS.

Obama has done his best to distance himself from his former minister, to the point of resigning from the church that Wright once led.

Wright’s comments were a stumbling block for Obama’s campaign. In an impassioned speech about faith and race, the Democrat at first expressed support for Wright, saying that “I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother.”

But six weeks later during a speech at the National Press Club, Wright offered eyebrow-raising opinions about the U.S. government, praised Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and hinted that Obama was distancing himself from the pastor for political expediency.

The next day, Obama said he was outraged and denounced Wright’s remarks.

WILLIAM AYERS: Today, Ayers is a university professor and a member of Chicago’s intellectual establishment. Forty years ago he was a member of the Weather Underground, a radical group that claimed responsibility for a series of bombings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol.

Ayers was a fugitive for years with his wife, fellow radical Bernadine Dohrn. But after surrendering in 1980, the charges against Ayers were dropped because of prosecutorial misconduct.

Obama had a very limited relationship with Ayers, who lives in the same neighborhood. They served together on the board of a Chicago charity, and in the mid-1990s when Obama first ran for office, Ayers hosted a meet-the-candidate session for Obama at his home.

Ayers was front and center in GOP claims that Obama was “palling around with terrorists,” as Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin put it.

Obama has condemned Ayers’ radical activities, and there’s no evidence they ever were close friends or that Ayers advised Obama on policy.

Ayers said in November that he hardly knew Obama. “I think my relationship with Obama was probably like thousands of others in Chicago. And, like millions and millions of others, I wish I knew him better,” Ayers said in a newspaper interview.

EMIL JONES: Jones, the president of the Illinois Senate, amounts to Obama’s political godfather and was an important part of Obama’s longshot victory for U.S. Senate in 2004. He helped the little-known politician meet the right people, and he picked Obama to handle high-profile legislation during the two years leading up to the election. But Jones’ political style is very different from Obama’s.

Jones is known for steering state money to a few favored institutions, including some that employ his relatives. Several of his relatives have gotten state jobs, and his wife’s government salary jumped 60 percent after he became Senate president. He has played an important role in blocking ethics legislation in Illinois.

When Jones announced last summer that he would retire from the Illinois Senate when his term ends in January, an Obama campaign spokesman said “Jones has been a passionate advocate who has fought for working families and the underprivileged.”

Jones was considered a possible successor to Obama in the Senate.

RASHID KHALIDI: Khalidi is a scholar and author on Middle Eastern affairs who has criticized Israeli policies and was part of a Palestinian advisory panel to peace talks in the early 1990s.

He’s also a friend of Obama.

They met while both were teaching at the University of Chicago and living in the same neighborhood. Obama and his wife, Michelle, sometimes had dinner with Khalidi and his wife, Mona. The Khalidis hosted a political fundraiser for Obama in 2000, and the Woods Fund charity gave money to the Arab-American Action Network, run by Mona Khalidi, while Obama served on the charity’s board.

Khalidi and Obama have both said they hold very different opinions on Israeli issues, but their friendship has been used to raise questions about Obama’s support for Israel — and to generate Internet headlines such as “Meet Obama’s Terrorist Friend.”

Late in the 2008 presidential campaign, the Republican nominee, John McCain, and Palin criticized Obama for attending a 2003 party for Khalidi. Obama’s campaign dismissed the complaints, saying Khalidi was not an adviser to him and that Obama does not share Khalidi’s views.

MICHAEL PFLEGER: Pfleger, a Roman Catholic priest in Chicago, has been known as a firebrand for years. He has protested over a wide range of issues, including gun shops and Jerry Springer. Obama has referred to him as a spiritual adviser.

Last spring, Pfleger visited Obama’s church and preached a sermon in which he mocked Hillary Rodham Clinton and accused her of expecting to win the presidential nomination because she was white. Pfleger apologized, but Obama condemned the remarks and resigned from the church.

So Illinois wants to take the power away from the Gov and have a vote on Os replacement. Can it be, Democracy might be rearing its patriotic head.

The list of people to be pardon is growing, and I think there would be pressure to do this sooner rather than later, Rezko, Gov, Gov wife, Gov Assistant. If you leave a scape goat in, and they know something, they are going to use it to get out of jail or reduce their sentence. As the circle widens, it will be harder to control. I wonder what the American public will think of a large immediate pardon.

Thank you, wbboei, for giving us the exact quote on O by both sources. This is why blogs are my source of news and the media is not. AOL has a lead article on this also, and they are falling all over themselves to indicate that O cannot possible be involved. Just like they assure everyone the BC issue has been throughlly investigated, and there is no issue here.

I use to be that reporters had credibilty, and the editor would fire them if they did not. As we see the news media empire sinking into the west, one has to wonder if they even understand the trust they have betrayed here. In a Democracy, the press is suppose to risk their lives to bring all the information forward, and represent it as fairly as possilbe. I am not even sure if the Media remembers what the truth is any more.

Here’s a piece from Chicago about MSM gradually abandoning their fantasy world:

“He’s the Clown But the Joke’s on Us” (Chicago Tribune)
….So though Illinois isn’t surprised—this is after all the home of the Chicago Way—the national media must be shocked.
They’ve been clinging to the ridiculous notion that Chicago is Camelot for months now, cleaving to the idea with the willfulness of stubborn children. It must help them see Obama as some pristine creature, perhaps a gentle faun of a magic forest, unstained by our grubby politics, a bedtime story for grown-ups who insist upon fairy tales. But now the national media may finally be forced to confront reality.

The Blago disgrace story is even hitting Yahoo, ahem, “news”:

    news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081210/ap_on_go_pr_wh/illinois_governor_analysis

Analysis: Scandal threatens to dog Obama

By LIZ SIDOTI, Associated Press Writer Liz Sidoti, Associated Press Writer – 2 hrs 25 mins ago

WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama hasn’t even stepped into office and already a scandal is threatening to dog him.

Obama isn’t accused of anything. But the fact that Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, a fellow Democrat, has been charged with trying to sell Obama’s now-vacant Senate post gives political opponents an opening to try to link him to the scandal. A slew of questions remain. The investigation is still under way. And the ultimate impact on Obama is far from certain.

He pointedly distanced himself from the case Tuesday, saying, “I had no contact with the governor or his office, and so I was not aware of what was happening” concerning any possible dealing about Blagojevich’s appointment of a successor.

In Chicago, U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said prosecutors were making no allegations that Obama was aware of any scheming. And Blagojevich himself, in taped conversations cited by prosecutors, suggested that Obama wouldn’t be helpful to him. Even if the governor was to appoint a candidate favored by the Obama team, Blagojevich said, “they’re not willing to give me anything except appreciation.”

    Republicans pounced nonetheless.

“The serious nature of the crimes listed by federal prosecutors raises questions about the interaction with Gov. Blagojevich, President-elect Obama and other high ranking officials who will be working for the future president,” said Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia, the new GOP House whip.

Added Robert M. “Mike” Duncan, chairman of the Republican National Committee, “President-elect Barack Obama’s comments on the matter are insufficient at best.”

Robert Gibbs, an Obama spokesman, said, “We did not know about this recent part of the investigation until today.”

The two Illinois politicians have never been especially close and have largely operated in different Democratic Party camps in the state. Blagojevich’s disdain for Obama was clear in court documents; he is quoted as calling the president-elect a vulgar term in one phone conversation recorded by the FBI.

Despite all that, at the very least, the episode amounts to a distraction for Obama just six weeks before he’s sworn into office while he works to set up his new administration and deal with a national economic crisis. It also raises the specter of notorious Chicago politics, an image Obama has tried to distance himself from during his career.

In court documents, FBI Special Agent Daniel Cain detailed several phone calls between Blagojevich and his aides that were intercepted on court-authorized wiretaps over the past month. Blagojevich is accused of conspiring to sell or trade the vacant Senate seat for personal benefits for himself and his wife, Patti. Among his alleged desires: a Cabinet post, placement at a private foundation in a significant position, campaign contributions or an ambassadorship.

There were signs the continuing investigation could still involve Obama.

It appears that Obama friend Valerie Jarrett, an incoming senior White House adviser, is the person referred to repeatedly in court documents as “Candidate 1.” That individual is described as a woman who is “an adviser to the president-elect” and as the person Obama wanted appointed to the Senate seat. Court papers say that Candidate 1 eventually removed herself from consideration for the Senate seat.

Blagojevich talked at length about Candidate 1 in a Nov. 11 phone conversation with an aide.

One day later, Jarrett, a Chicago businesswoman who is one of three co-chairmen of Obama’s transition team and was a high-level adviser to his presidential campaign, made it known that she was not interested in the seat. On Nov. 15, Obama announced that Jarrett would be a senior White House adviser and assistant for intergovernmental relations.

Obama’s circle of major Illinois political allies and supporters is largely separate from Blagojevich’s, with two major exceptions. Both Obama and Blagojevich got extensive money and support from Chicago businessman Antoin “Tony” Rezko, who is awaiting sentencing after being convicted in June on charges of using clout with Blagojevich’s administration to help launch a $7 million kickback scheme. And Obama is close to Illinois Senate President Emil Jones, who has been the governor’s staunchest legislative ally.

At least one top aide to Obama, Michael Strautmanis, previously worked for Blagojevich. Obama has appointed Strautmanis to serve as White House chief of staff to the presidential assistant for intergovernmental relations and public liaison. The Chicago native was legislative director and counsel to Blagojevich when the governor was a member of Congress and then helped Blagojevich win the governorship in 2002. There is no indication that Strautmanis is involved in the case.

More details on the case could be forthcoming.

Court documents say they don’t include all calls dealing with the governor’s efforts regarding the Senate appointment. And many people in the documents are referred to by aliases; there’s little doubt their identities will eventually surface.

And Bloomberg is covering it too:

Illinois Governor’s Arrest May Cause Collateral Damage to Obama

Dec. 10 (Bloomberg) — Barack Obama’s hometown of Chicago has an unofficial political handshake: palms extended, facing up. It goes with the city’s unwritten motto, “Where is mine?”

The mythology of official corruption added another chapter yesterday in the form of a 76-page federal criminal complaint against Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. It charged him with attempting to sell his choice of President-elect Obama’s replacement in the U.S. Senate in exchange for a lucrative job or prestigious appointment, among other allegations.

(snipped here, go to link for the whole deal).

  • rgb44hrc

admin, when they finally get around to awarding you a Pulitzer for journalism, I guess we’ll find out who you are then.

Or is it a committee? “Sam, it’s your shift now, I’m going home for some shuteye”. Then the award might have to be shared, like Woodward and Bernstein (back when they were real reporters).

I wonder at what point Obama is going to rue getting higher up in politics. He could have coasted as a Senator, and lined his pockets, and no one would have noticed.

Lastly, does anyone see a similarity between Blago’s wife getting a cushy board seat, and some other person’s spouse??? To quote admin from the top:

Blagojevich also sought a high paying job for his wife, according to the FBI.
“Is there a play here, with these guys, with her” to work for a firm in
Washington or New York, he reportedly asked. The FBI affidavit said Blagojevich
had been told by an adviser “the president-elect can get Rod Blagojevich’s wife
on paid corporate boards in exchange for naming the president-elect’s pick to the
    Senate.”

As a senator, Obama was being outearned by his wife, who put in some of her spare time to sit on the board of the Chicago hospital. I’m sure her career as a health care professional and advocate made her the best qualified for that position, and it had absolutely nothing to do with whom her husband was, that she got it for access and influence. Nope, that couldn’t possibly be the reason.

  • basil9

    Thanks, Admin!

    😀

Now i gotta google the lyrics.

  • basil9

    rgb,

    Absolutely!
I’ve always wondered how MO got such a cushy job when she had NO experience in the medical field. Of course, Jarrett was her mentor and originally hired her.

You know, the same Jarett who evidently was BO’s senator pic and has neem named to some cabinet post?
    👿

  • rgb44hrc

I think the only real qualification she brought was that she is/was an attorney. But hasn’t she failed to renew her license to practice law?

  • NewMexicoFan

So if the FBI was recording all the phone calls, then the Jarett person must have been discussed with someone. The question is who would have been the emissary for O? We know he is smart enough to not call himself. Remember the Canada incident?

The quote above I assume from the FBI says an ADVISOR of O stated the Gov’s wife could have a job? WHO IS THE ADVISOR SPEAKING FOR O, the smoking gun.

    Questionable associations of Obama:
By The Associated Press – 7 hours ago
    ——————————–
Regarding AP what I find curious is that after their 18 month rampage of promoting bambi, conspiring with his campaign and presenting a false picture to the American People, do these miscreants make this futile attempt to salvage what little is left of their credibility. UPI and Reuters have not been like this ship of fools–fouhey, barlett and the rest of their frauds.

Question: when you have swam three quarters of the way across the English Channel–or in this case the River Styx like they have as propagandists masquerading as journalists, praytell what sense does it make to turn back?

  • JanH

    wbboei,

Yep! I have to wonder how long they’ve had this information. Honestly, the media as a whole has suppressed anything that doesn’t favor their messiah from the very beginning.

  • NewMexicoFan

    wbboei

When you lose the peoples trust, I am not if it is important that you start telling the truth now. It is like the little boy who cried wolf, and so when there really is a wolf, no one will believe you.

The American public is looking for journalism someplace else, as the media has become a propaganda machine. So when will the media dry up and go away? When the advertisers realize that you no longer are reaching the American Public.

Have you seen some of the new ads online. They are spending a lot of money on websites, the new advertising venue of the American advertisers.

Personally, I don’t get the newspaper anymore, I throw out the junk mail except for the address, which I shred, and I rarely if ever watch the local or evening news. Yet, when my sister comes over and talks about the latest, I know it, and many times better. I wonder how much of the money is shifting at this point?

The hand writting is on the wall. Will they ignore it like the auto industry?

  • NewMexicoFan

Sorry, I am not SURE if it is important (proof read but missed it).

Another Chicago case tied to Obama
Whistleblower claims he was fired for objection to Rezko house deal

    http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=83226

    By Jerome R. Corsi
    © 2008 WorldNetDaily

    Obama’s Chicago mansion
NEW YORK – While prosecutors are making no allegations against Barack Obama in the massive criminal complaint unsealed yesterday against Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, a separate civil case in Chicago asserts the president-elect benefited from a shady land deal orchestrated by convicted felon Antonin “Tony” Rezko.

WND obtained a copy of the civil complaint filed in October with the Illinois Circuit Court in Cook County by former real estate credit analyst Kenneth J. Conner.

Conner alleges he was fired by his former employer, Mutual Bank of Harvey, Ill., because he objected to land appraisals submitted on behalf of the Rezkos and the Obamas, with the complicity of the bank

    SNIP

The attorney told WND his client had contacted the FBI and submitted relevant documents before he was retained as legal counsel to pursue the wrongful-dismissal case.

WND has confirmed with the clerk of the Cook County Clerk of Courts that Conner has requested a 12-person jury trial, and the case, docketed as 2008#L011470, has been assigned to Judge Charles Winkler.

    ‘Inconvenient appraisal’

Conner’s complaint establishes that in June 2005, Mutual Bank President and CEO Amrish Mahajan and other Mutual Bank officers “approved a loan to Rita Malki Rezko which was guaranteed by Antonin Rezko so that Rita Rezko could purchase a 9,090 square foot vacant parcel of the real estate at 5050 Greenwood Avenue, Chicago.”

The complaint also confirms as undisputed fact, “On or about January 4, 2006, Rita Rezko entered into an agreement with Senator Barack and Michelle Obama to sell a ten-foot strip of the S. Greenwood property to the Obamas.”

Connor’s complaint charges that Mutual Bank removed from the file an inconvenient appraisal he conducted.

Connor contends fraudulent appraisals were submitted to permit the Rezkos and the Obamas to collude with one another on both the initial purchase of the double-lot property and the subsequent sale of the vacant 10-foot sliver of land.

Connor’s complaint argues the initial fraudulent appraisal over-valued the property to permit the bank to loan the Rezkos the maximum possible to complete their side of the transaction.

Connor’s complaint then argues Mutual Bank subsequently discounted the initial appraisal by as much 50 percent – arguing the 10-percent strip was unbuildable alone – to arrive at a price low enough for the Obamas to afford buying enough of the vacant lot to effectively prevent future development.

    SNIP

Connor alleges his appraisal was removed from the Mutual Bank file and he was fired from the bank “‘under pretextual reasons”‘ after complaining about what he considered the problems with the appraisals used by the Rezkos and the bank to complete the Obama property transaction.

The FBI, through a federal grand jury, subpoenaed the Connor file in October 2006, according to the Washington Times.

Hi Hillfriends…after watching and listening to the MSM go out of its way to protect and cover for Obama and expect us to believe that Obama never even spoke to the Governor of his state who is filling his seat stretches credibility beyond suspended animation…and how in a state that is know for decades for its corruption, amazing…obama is the only clean politician ever from the state…however…

I am more struck by how the MSM would have covered this if it was Hillary as Prez-elect and her seat…we would now have nonstop 24/7 coverage of every photo and comment that ever existed between Hill, Bill and every remote friend they ever had that had the most remote link to the Governor…smiles and handshakes in photos would be popping out of the woodwork…we would have innuendo and implications and a brouhaha to outdo Whitewater and/or Watergate combined…it just annoys the hell out of me…that Hill would be crucified under these circumstances and instead obama gets ‘protection’ and excuses and spin…

    ***********

also, frankly, after hearing all the pundits, politicians and reporters go on and on about how “shocked” they are…how “STUNNING”, over and over again they are all STUNNED about Blag’s arrogance, bla, bla, bla…

…funny, I am not shocked or stunned…in fact the only STUNNING thing is he got caught…god knows how much more of this is going on right now behind the scenes…whether it is the finanical institutes, the government…the whole rigged mess…and who gets the shaft…us…the silly little American people…the mocks for all the games the people we put in power play…

I truly hope everyone is watching very closely what Governor Patterson does with Hillary’s seat…I just read Paglia’s current article where she goes on about Hillary being unqualified for SOS…and just what makes Caroline Kennedy qualified to be an appointed NY Senator…that appointment will wreak even if no money passes anyones hand…

  • wbboei

Years ago an undercover FBI agent named Donnie Brasko inflitrated the Bonanno Family, and came away with information, which became the grist for a successful prosection, a book and a movie (starring Al Pacino). What he learned about the Mafia can be summed up in a single sentence:

Shorn of their Sicilian code and ritual the Mafia was essentially a collecton of thieves with nation-wide power and connections. Nothing more. Theft was their raison d etre–reason to exist.

By the same token the Chicago Combine which spawned Obama is a collection of thieves–not unlike the Mafia. Their raison d etre is to steal from the voters and taxpayers.

Thus, when Blog offers to sell the Senate Seat for private gain, rather than exercising his powers of office to select the best senator for the state, he steals from his constituents.

Forgive me but I see no real difference between Blogs actions and those of Obama–except his actions fall under the more benign category of lobbying–which he publicly deplores and privately practices.

(Note: only the wilful blindness o The Washington Press Corps could fail to see the anomoly of a politican who rose out of the cesspool of Chicago promising to clean up lobbying in Washington.)

Thus, when Obama failed to protect his Chicago constituents who were trapped in tenements without heat or water during a very cold winter so he could line his pockets with Rezko money, how different is that from what Blog was doing?

And when Obama backed off on important legislation to protect constitutents from nuclear leaks into their water supply so he could solicit campaign contributions from Excelon who produced those spills and failed to report them, were the actions of Governor Blog really that much worse.

All fruits of the poisonous tree.

And so when Axelrod gives us that plaintive look of his which hides his thuggish character, or when Daleys brother talks of Obamas commitment to his now national constituencies, I am skeptical.

I imagine Obama standing in some dark magohoney room at the end of a long conference table lined with green banker lights and shadowy figures at the other end.

He raises his palms raised in the air and pleads aloud: I am doing all this work for you and I aint gettin no grease.

We have spent a loooot of time on the Jon Favreau picture in the last several days. Now, I’m not saying that a picture like that isn’t important, provided it wasn’t leaked intentionally. But what if the reason we are spinning our wheels on this issue because we have been distracted to keep our eye off of something else?

Like electoral colleges, eligibility, transparency, master poker players, calling people’s bluff, international politics, legitimacy, Saul Alinsky, Supreme Court cases, standing.

There’s something out there that they don’t want us to be seeing. Something on the fringes of our periphery. What is it?

It’s not over. It will *never* be over. Obama will have to be purer than the driven snow and more honorable than Lincoln, more responsible than FDR, more competent and successful than Bill Clinton.

We know what really happened during the primaries. We know that Hillary won and that the nomination was stolen from her by Obama and his collusion with the DNC. We will never be appeased by Hillary getting the Secretary of State while the Pretender takes her place.

So, what are they up to? Who are they threatening and intimidating now? Step away from the photoshop and start looking around.

    I smell a rat.

I gotta get outa here but wanted to share this gnawing premonition I’ve got that the Blago case was deliberately leaked now to give BO time to recover before the inauguration, just like the Wright dirt came out when it did. They’ve got 6 weeks to clean it up.

It’s all friggin orchestrated and I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to learn all of this coincidental leaking info at perticular times follows the BO campaign timeline.

Remember how all bad news was released on Fridays? Was that coincidental? 👿

    _________________________________
She is a head case. I went to visit her once at the School of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. She was not in. She loves to engage in verbal fistcuffs and is a literary version of heavy metal rock. I was interested in some of the stuff she was saying at the time, but have since concluded she is not worth listening to. When she gets target lock on something his prejudices pull he over the edge. Not stable in my opinion. She has had a number of gigs with magazines but they never seem to last. The reasons are–how shall I put it–self evident.

  • jbstonesfan

Thanks..I was exposed to her Hillary bashing via articles posted on RCP. The one posted there today is another example of Clinton derangement syndrome. How the hell we elected this guy when we had a brilliant , dynamic, and powerful woman like Hillary is beyond depressing as BO and his associates are exposed.

  • wbboei

Camiles strength is she is a defender of western civilization generally speaking. Also, she is a devotee of a wonderful Jewish professor of literature who I admire. I have his book her somewhere but his name escapes me. But her thinking is very weak and flawed when it comes to the Clintons, and the why of it eludes me, as it surely would elude most shrinks.

  • S

…the problem with these Clinton haters is that they ‘think’ with their emotions…they are blinded by their hate and emotions…they are irrational and part of their own little ‘knowing’ elite and snickering club…and of course, they take pride in outdoing themselves in who can cut the deepest with each clinton attack…as if, it emboldens them…makes them stronger…more powerful…like little kids that like to taunt a teacher…

the ironic thing is if they were to analyze two nameless people with existing circumstances…Hillary would be admired and revered but because she is Hillary they only see negatives…and often are PROFITING from their negative input…

  • wbboei

Come to think of it it does not elude me either. Camile is exactly the kind of intellectual who would project all her frustations and disappointments about life, career path and acadmia on to a messiah like him. She is always looking for validation in the street throng and would die happy if she expired in the middle of Mardia Gras or the Brazilian Carnival–always living on the edge.

  • JanH

I think it’s just plain envy/jealousy syndrome for the success the Clintons have had. Most of the media circus seem to have drunk from this same cup. I also think it is gender hate, man to woman and woman to woman.

  • S

JanH… so true…the MSM had it in for them from day one…and as mentioned, many of them have profited from CDS hate club…with books, speaking engagements, tv appearances, television jobs, reporting jobs, etc, etc, etc…

  • wbboei

S: you are absolutely right. The Clinton haters respond on the basis of emotion. And they have never really studied the subject. I can think of a number of examples of clinton opponents who did a 180 degree turn when they actually met Hillary. They became supporters. Richard Mellon Scaiffe is not an isolated example. He may not be what you would call a devotee, but he is deeply impressed, and taken with her–and it shows. And it raises the even larger question of whether we have fallen so far as a society that we value fairy tales over competence and performance.

  • ShortTermer

I have been sure all along that the Clintons have known more than is public forever. My respect for them has been muliplied 100 fold. I know they are working through this, even though I have not understood some of their actions. I am also sure that they and those like them, and us, that KNOW firsthand the shenanigans and thievery of the primary will never live long enough to get over the abuse; and that collectively there will be much effort to dislodge the perps. I know that it ain’t over until the fat lady sings – and I[we] have not sung yet – and furthermore NO ONE would want to go through that torture.

Off with their heads even if it is one head at a time!

How can we collectively support Pat Fitzgerald and promote his continuance as the country’s new Elliot Ness?

Thank you one and all for the blogs are my source of research and information. I will not reward those who took our country down – especially the MSM.

This will not be the undoing of the Obamas. Everything is in place to whitewash and pack neatly away anything that will get in the way. Nothing I have heard him say is nearly as trancendent and revealing as the above quote.

    Finally, I am a believer–the right priorities.

  • wbboei

There is a growing rumor that the unnamed person who offered to buy the vacant senate seat governor blog was peddling was none other than that self promoting race baiter Jessie Jackson Jr. Now wouldnt that be interesting.

I was speaking with a friend of mine who has strong ties in the black community. She tells me that the older members of that community do not hold Jesse Jackson Sr. in the same high regard that our own beloved big media does.

She says that Dr. King lost confidence in Jesse Jackson Sr. and would probably have thrown him out of the inner circle because of his self promoting tendencies and big mouth. Kings papers provide part of the basis for this insight. Furthermore, elderly black people who were in the no did not appreciate the manner in which he seized King’s crown after the assasination. They knew the inside story.

So if it turns out that Jesse Jackson Jr. did in fact try to buy the seat, he would be a chip off the old block, now wouldnt he.

My friend has deep insight into Chicago politics and has lived there on and off for years. My friend says there is no way–no way Obama could have possibly risen in the Chicago Machine–much less as fast as he did–some might say meteorically, if he was clean. Impossible.

My friend believes this is the first cog in his undoing. Too many people know the truth. It will take time but Act 3 may be closer than we think.

Finally, she noted that msnbc–and apparently ratboy chuck todd–are blaming the prosecutor. See why I say they are a joke–all the way up to Capus and Griffin.

That 10 foot strip of land is very important.

Remember Obama’s excuse for the land deal was that the Rezkos intended to develop the side yard as a commercial property. (As if Obama would buy a mansion knowing that noisy and dirty construction would take place right next to the mansion and not even know what that commercial development would be.)

Once the 10 foot strip of land was sold the side yard became worthless as a development site.
