The exit polls just counted the Pumas who actually voted for McCain. They couldn’t count the Pumas who stayed home but would have come out if Hillary had been on the ballot.

However they did include the bots who would have stayed home if Obama had not been on the ballot.

16 percent of McCain voters said they would have voted for Clinton,
the Democrat, if she had been her party’s nominee. 43% of these voters
who supported McCain but would have backed Clinton if she were in the
