Happy Birthday Hillary!

Happy Birthday Hillary Clinton!

Thanks so much Hillary for your lifetime commitment to better this country and the world. We do appreciate and love you for your dedication and hard work.

Dear Hillary, as you know this is and will always be a Hillary support site.

But many do not understand that the respect and love we have for you does not translate to blind obediance and cult devotion. We can admire and respect and love you as well as disagree with you on on some issues. When you make a mistake we continue to admire and respect and love you. When you frequently say and do the right thing we enjoy applauding you.

We all should confess that much of our feelings towards you are due to a healthy, not ugly, self-interest. You see, your vision for America benefits us. We agree with your vision for America – an inclusive progressive America. We agree with you that the country is in desperate need of Universal health care along with economic responsibility and accountability as well as a return to a strong and diplomatic American foreign policy. We disagree with your “responsibilty gene” conclusion that Barack Obama is the way to get to that America.

In a way Hillary, you can say we agree as to the destination but not the mode of transport.

We also agree with you that the Dimocratic Party should return to the principles of the Democratic Party of FDR. We want an inclusive party not a cult that discriminates and rigs the rules. We want a Democratic Party that fights for voter rights not a Dimocratic Party that disenfranchises states and engages in misogyny.

It’s been a crazy past year. Having supported you Hillary, we have been called “racists” and other epithets. The abuse we used to get from Republicans we now see heaped on Democrats who supported you, Hillary.

The Big Media lies that we hoped Big Blogs would counteract are instead amplified by Big Blogs. Big Blogs and Dimocrats who sold their souls to benefit themselves and their boob candidate will soon learn that if you live by Big Media you will die by Big Media.

Right Wing media outlets we used to revile are now, as Governor Rendell and Lanny Davis have said, Fair and Balanced compared to Big Blogs and Big Media.

It’s all been a very eventful year in your very event filled life, Hillary.

You will continue to have many more eventful years and your influence on events will grow.

Thanks, Hillary.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Hillary and may your star continue to strengthen and grow.

  2. Oh dear, this is going to be fun

Phil Berg is going to have some very interesting challenges ahead when he exposes the chain of events regarding this ruling. The ruling itself appears as though it should be thrown out; it isn’t even file or date stamped. First, there’s – CONFLICT OF INTEREST.; Obama’s Birth Certificate Judge-Obama Linkage:

Barack and Michelle worked at Sidley Austin law when they met.

Also working with Michelle at Sidley at the same time was one Bernardine Dohrn, beloved wife of Bill Ayers.

Now it turns out a fellow named Christopher B. Seaman is the former law clerk for U.S. District Judge R. Barclay Surrick.

Christopher B. Seaman also works for a firm named Sidley Austin.

Gosh. It’s a small world after all.

The original faxed decision from the Clerk of the US District Court for the Eastern District of PA to attorney Philip J Berg appears to have been faxed to Judge Surrick for him to sign. But if this is the case, the questions becomes who wrote the decision and faxed it for the Judges signature?

DID SOMEONE TELL JUDGE R. BARCLAY SURRICK WHAT HIS RULING WOULD BE?

  3. I need help I cannot get on NQ. I would ask my kids to help me but the last time they got a hold of my lap top they put an Obama screen saver on it, I thought I was going to die.

They were all sitting around and very queit and watching me, I should have known something was wrong at that point, I turned on the lap top and there it was, they laughed and laughed, I almost cried.

  4. sounds like some kids need whoppin’. If you find out how to do it post it cause I can’t get on either!

  6. Michael S. Malone is one of the nation’s best-known technology writers. He has covered Silicon Valley and high-tech for more than 25 years, beginning with the San Jose Mercury News as the nation’s first daily high-tech reporter. His articles and editorials have appeared in such publications as The Wall Street Journal, the Economist and Fortune, and for two years he was a columnist for The New York Times. He was editor of Forbes ASAP, the world’s largest-circulation business-tech magazine, at the height of the dot-com boom. Malone is the author or co-author of a dozen books, notably the best-selling “Virtual Corporation.” Malone has also hosted three public television interview series, and most recently co-produced the celebrated PBS miniseries on social entrepreneurs, “The New Heroes.” He has been the ABCNews.com “Silicon Insider” columnist since 2000.

    Malone writes:

    http://abcnews.go.com/print?id=6099188

The traditional media are playing a very, very dangerous game — with their readers, with the Constitution and with their own fates.

The sheer bias in the print and television coverage of this election campaign is not just bewildering, but appalling. And over the last few months I’ve found myself slowly moving from shaking my head at the obvious one-sided reporting, to actually shouting at the screen of my television and my laptop computer.

But worst of all, for the last couple weeks, I’ve begun — for the first time in my adult life — to be embarrassed to admit what I do for a living. A few days ago, when asked by a new acquaintance what I did for a living, I replied that I was “a writer,” because I couldn’t bring myself to admit to a stranger that I’m a journalist.

You need to understand how painful this is for me. I am one of those people who truly bleeds ink when I’m cut. I am a fourth-generation newspaperman. As family history tells it, my great-grandfather was a newspaper editor in Abilene, Kan., during the last of the cowboy days, then moved to Oregon to help start the Oregon Journal (now the Oregonian). [snip]

Now, of course, there’s always been bias in the media. Human beings are biased, so the work they do, including reporting, is inevitably colored. Hell, I can show you 10 different ways to color variations of the word “said” — muttered, shouted, announced, reluctantly replied, responded, etc. — to influence the way a reader will apprehend exactly the same quote. We all learn that in Reporting 101, or at least in the first few weeks working in a newsroom.

But what we are also supposed to learn during that same apprenticeship is to recognize the dangerous power of that technique, and many others, and develop built-in alarms against them. [snip]

I’d spent my entire professional career scrupulously pounding out endless dreary footnotes and double-checking sources to make sure that I never got accused of lying or stealing someone else’s work — not out of any native honesty, but out of fear: I’d always been told to fake or steal a story was a firing offense & indeed, it meant being blackballed out of the profession.

And yet, few of those worthies ever seemed to get fired for their crimes — and if they did they were soon rehired into even more prestigious jobs. It seemed as if there were two sets of rules: one for us workaday journalists toiling out in the sticks, and another for folks who’d managed, through talent or deceit, to make it to the national level.

Meanwhile, I watched with disbelief as the nation’s leading newspapers, many of whom I’d written for in the past, slowly let opinion pieces creep into the news section, and from there onto the front page. Personal opinions and comments that, had they appeared in my stories in 1979, would have gotten my butt kicked by the nearest copy editor, were now standard operating procedure at the New York Times, the Washington Post, and soon after in almost every small town paper in the U.S. [snip]

But nothing, nothing I’ve seen has matched the media bias on display in the current presidential campaign.

Republicans are justifiably foaming at the mouth over the sheer one-sidedness of the press coverage of the two candidates and their running mates. But in the last few days, even Democrats, who have been gloating over the pass — no, make that shameless support — they’ve gotten from the press, are starting to get uncomfortable as they realize that no one wins in the long run when we don’t have a free and fair press. [snip]

No, what I object to (and I think most other Americans do as well) is the lack of equivalent hardball coverage of the other side — or worse, actively serving as attack dogs for the presidential ticket of Sens. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and Joe Biden, D-Del.

If the current polls are correct, we are about to elect as president of the United States a man who is essentially a cipher, who has left almost no paper trail, seems to have few friends (that at least will talk) and has entire years missing out of his biography.

That isn’t Sen. Obama’s fault: His job is to put his best face forward. No, it is the traditional media’s fault, for it alone (unlike the alternative media) has had the resources to cover this story properly, and has systematically refused to do so.

Why, for example to quote the lawyer for Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., haven’t we seen an interview with Sen. Obama’s grad school drug dealer — when we know all about Mrs. McCain’s addiction? Are Bill Ayers and Tony Rezko that hard to interview? All those phony voter registrations that hard to scrutinize? And why are Sen. Biden’s endless gaffes almost always covered up, or rationalized, by the traditional media?

The absolute nadir (though I hate to commit to that, as we still have two weeks before the election) came with Joe the Plumber.

Middle America, even when they didn’t agree with Joe, looked on in horror as the press took apart the private life of an average person who had the temerity to ask a tough question of a presidential candidate. So much for the standing up for the little man. So much for speaking truth to power. So much for comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable, and all of those other catchphrases we journalists used to believe we lived by. [snip]

So why weren’t those legions of hungry reporters set loose on the Obama campaign? Who are the real villains in this story of mainstream media betrayal?

    I have a new theory.
    What IF:
JM’s internals convince him he’s gonna win and so rather than stir up problems with BO’s supporters by releasing more damaging info on that one he’s holding his fire coz he wants to be able to govern the whole country, not just repubs.
    ========

Could be. And/or they’ve done a lot of research with focus groups and found that the voters they would gain with the damaging stuff can be reached by viral emails etc, so they don’t have to do it openly which would make the Independents mad.

The GOP has been good at winning elections for the last decade or so; I hope they still know what they’re doing.

  8. ADMIN!

    That is a powerful article.

    Thanks for posting it.

    Turned-down,
I dunno but Jm seems so calm and collected, even during the horrendous tom brokeback interview this morning.

  9. basil and turndown: I think the McCain campaign is hamstrung by the media bias. The media do not report negative things about Bo and Biden, and when they mention anything, the least bit negative, they are called racists and bigots. Plus, I bet monetary threats are being made. If the media were doing their jobs, McCain would be way ahead in the polls. Even the polling is polluted and skewed to increase voter suppression.

Admin: Insightful article. Makes me very fearful for our country. Who is BO? Thankfully, your research and due diligence has helped to give the readers of this blog more insight into the dangers of a potential BO presidency, and how horribly biased media has been during this campaign. Unfortunately, many people only hear MSM and believe what they hear.

LA Times Withholds Video of Obama Toasting Former PLO Operative at Jew Bashing Dinner
    By John Stephenson | October 25, 2008 – 16:37

The mainstream media are willfully ignoring many questionable ties and friendships of Barack Obama. The list does not end with the radical racist preacher Jeremiah Wright and unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers. They have totally ignored Obama campaigning for the socialist revolutionary Raila Odinga in Kenya. They have also ignored his ties with radical Islamic extremist Khalid Al Masour.

LA Times takes things to the next level. They are going beyond the level of ignoring to the level of willfully witholding informative evidence from the public. The associate of Barack Obama in question this time is Rashid Khalidi, a former PLO operative and best friend of William Ayers. The LA times has a video of Barack Obama toasting this friend of his while attending a Jew bashing dinner, and they are refusing to release the video to the public.

  22. Really good “Hannity’s America” tonight. If you misses it, it comes on again at 1:00a.m. Central time. It is well worth seeing.

  23. Here’s an idea for an on-going project we can do after Nov 4, whoever wins.

We can’t start our own media network, but maybe we can start a website that will link to whatever most-nearly-honest news stories are out there, at various networks and publications. It might look sort of like a news site with many boxes with headlines and pictures. When you click on an article, it opens in a pop up box within our frame so you don’t forget where you are.

We could offer widget popup boxes for each person to put on their own website, with a small list of headlines that changes when new headlines go up at our site.

Our site could also have an editorial every day from one of our team giving an overview of the news.

I’m talking about a policy really honest and fair — what the ‘mainstream media’ ought to be offering. Something to wean people away from the current MSM.

  24. My husband and I did a lot of driving today mostly in the MD suburbs around DC. In the course of about 3 hours of driving what is interesting is that we could count on one hand the number of Obama bumper stickers we saw on cars. The first one we saw had a huge honk if you are for Obama’08. Nobody honked.

  25. you know admin,

i have wondered countless times, how this hillary thing has felt to you. i guess, i’ve wondered if it was disappointing to you, that she has made this effort for obama. there are people here, to which you can never question the actions of hillary. they take any scrutiny of her, as a personal affront. some here profess to know why she has given her sanction to obama, these comments and these people i take with a grain of salt. i tend to have my doubts as to their personal knowledge of her motives.

but you on the other hand, i dont know about… i’ve wondered also if you know her personally in some way. you have gone ABOVE AND BEYOND, in the service of getting her elected. its my belief, that you have given not only your time, but your money, and i would suspect others as well who must be helping to keep this site running. you respect her immensly, that is obvious, but i think you really care about those less fortunate, those at a disadvantage. i think you give alot of yourself for this cause, because you believe it is right.

so today this article that you wrote, is more a tribute to you, than anything else in my eyes….
YOU ARE A FEARLESS LEADER, YOU KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE, AND YOU WONT COMPROMISE.

THANK YOU ADMIN, FOR YOUR SENSE OF RIGHT AND WRONG, AND YOUR LOYALTY TO A CAUSE THAT IS NOT POPULAR:
that would be us, the people….

    and HAPPY BIRTHDAY HILLARY.

  26. I would imagine that media is going to step up their bombardment of negative McCain/Palin commentary/headlines leading up to election day.

Their integrity and honest journalism still has one last step to go before it reaches rock bottom garbage.

  27. Happy Birthday, Hillary. I read your book ‘Living History’ so I feel like I understand you better. You wrote that when you were to begin your career that you questioned yourself about whether you could make the most change ‘inside’ the system or working ‘outside’ the system. You decided more change could be effected working ‘inside.’ I understand that and it is all well and good. But how can one continue to work from ‘inside’ when everything that has been done and said is so evil and corrupt? My bearings would have caused me to switch and work from ‘outside’ the system at that point, or much better I say the ‘Party.’ For I believe that the heirarchy of importance and allegiance is:
God, Country, Family, Party. While I know that you will need time to get your bearings, right now I believe the best way you and Bill could serve the country [second to stop shilling for the corrupt marxist/socialist/fraud] is to publish a book each ready on Inaguaration day detailing what you have gone through, and how the party has died, and how to fix our America. I can hardly wait for every juicy little detail.

Admin, Dubya can lock down this election date because of the fraud and give time to route out all the fraudulent voter registrations and fraudulent votes………..it will be a lasting legacy of good that he has done for the American citizens if we would have the backbone to do so. Please tell him that all the good Americans that voted him in twice are imploring him to do it. Please.

Also, Dick Morris said the name of the 527 that is seeking donations to run Wright ads is

GOPsolution.org….does my memory serve me correctly with this edress? If this would bring victory on Nov 4th I would gladly make a donation. It is almost as he were encouraging us to go there.

  28. I just don’t think the numbers are there for Obama to win. In fact, there is a significant Dem opposition to his candidacy that you would not have seen in other elections. At this point with all his questionable associations and so on, Republicans are not eager to cross over and vote for him. I am sure Indies (who will be averse to blind following and therefore, hopefully would have looked at both candidates) are scared now after the Joe the Plumber and spread the wealth fiasco. So what has he left with him — some hard-core Dems?

  29. I think the lack of signs, the 80% hangup rate on polling calls, the large % of undecideds the polls are showing means the American voter right now is not letting us know where they stand.

Add to that the high % of Dems being polled when the # of Dems registered has not change, even after a heavy voter registration effort, that Reps are voting in heavy numbers, that youth are saying they are not going to vote in any larger numbers than before.

And I tell you what we have????

NOTHING YOU CAN BASE A PREDICTION ON WITH ANY CERTAINLY.

O is using the polling industry as a propaganda tool.

pm: I agree with you. I think riverdaughter put her finger on it re. centrist democrats:

It makes me want to deliver a blow to the party in November that is so powerful that they get the message. It’s wrong to turn on your voters. It’s wrong to manipulate primary election results. It’s wrong to allow one of your party loyalists to be trashed in the media by sexism and misogyny. It’s wrong to allow racism to be used as a weapon. It’s wrong to allow your nominee to ditch the party brand name to reach out to appeal to evangelical voters. So much of what has gone on this year in the party is reactionary and corrupt that we cannot let it go unchecked or we will lose the only organization we have for standing up for those Democratic principles we cherish.

This is why he has no problem sit down with our enemies in the first year of his presidency without preconditions. He already has, and if he refused to sit down with them now he would lose half his friends. There is no valid reason for a journalistic enterprise to conceal this information from its readers. In fact the interests of jouranalism dictate that it be released. Yet the Los Angeles Times refuses to do so. They are no longer a valid news source. Let them sell their tripe to the bots.

  36. Turndown

Just read your idea about the Big Pink linking to the most nearly honest articles, news, balanced observations, etc. thru we, the readers.

Good idea, except that once in a while, there appears on this site, even fom people I love, some REALLY WEIRD claims of truth and breaking news.

Who would be responsible for flushing or scrubbing the faux-news, rumors, planted items, etc.?

We can’t ask admin to do that – it’s not her job.

Great idea if we could figure out how to umpire the process.

  37. I can not get over how cool and calm John McCain is – yet he seems to be down by big numbers, or at least that is what they want us to believe. Also, how calm the RNC headquarters workers are here.

Does this mean victory on Nov 4th, or wouldn’t they be scrambling harder and pulling out all stops if the McPalin team believed the numbers show that it is over for them. Just sayin…………….

I know that what I am feeling is anything but calm for them.

  38. Most of the posts here are very thoughtful and it seems that we get input from all over. I have enjoyed that very much on His44. I appreciate everyone’s hard work. Thank you Admin.

Re: someone’s idea about this becoming a real news media. Suggestion; what if someone from each state was asked to report for their state? Would that be doable?

  39. shorttermer, may they know what is really going to happen in the next few days. Those missile strikes in Pakistan may deliver Osama Bin laden for the republicans just before Nov. 4th and may be seen as a redemption or sorts for them.
They do seem calm, but maybe they know that all those tapes will come out this week or over the weekend!

  40. ShortTermer

Maybe this article from Salon can explain why McCain seems so cool despite the poll numbers.

Why Obama has to stay above 50 percent
A GOP operative argues that in a race between a white and black candidate, “undecideds” vote white. Meaning, “undecideds” will break for McCain.

    By Bill Greener

Oct. 27, 2008 | As his campaign manager has described it, John McCain is now looking at a “narrow-victory scenario.” “The fact that we’re in the race at all,” added Steve Schmidt, “is a miracle. Because the environment is so bad and the head wind is so strong.”

But talk of miracles and head winds aside, I think John McCain really does have a decent shot at winning, and that’s not just because I’m a longtime Republican political operative. Despite what the polls seem to be saying, a closer look at the numbers shows that a Democratic victory is not a foregone conclusion. Why? Because if history is any guide, Barack Obama, as an African-American candidate for political office, needs to be polling consistently above 50 percent to win. And in crucial battleground states, he isn’t.

Much has been written about the so-called Bradley Effect, in which voters lie to pollsters about whether they’re willing to vote for a black candidate. The Bradley Effect is meant to explain why, for example, Doug Wilder had a healthy 9-point lead up to Election Day in the 1989 Virginia governor’s race, and a similar lead in exit polling, only to squeak through to victory by one-half of 1 percent. But I’m not talking about voters telling pollsters they’re going to support Candidate A when they’re really going to vote for Candidate B. There are two other ways in which voters can mislead pollsters about their intentions. One is to decline to participate in a poll. (More than one expert has suggested that conservatives are more likely to decline than liberals, meaning there could be many uncounted McCain voters.) The other is when pollsters participate in a poll but withhold information. Specifically, they say they’re undecided when they really aren’t. It’s the latter phenomenon in particular, I think, that gives John McCain a chance at winning enough swing states to reach the White House.

There’s an old rule in politics that an incumbent candidate is always in danger when he dips under 50 percent, even if he is leading his opponent in the polls. It’s all about the undecideds. In a race with an incumbent candidate and a challenger, on Election Day the undecideds tend to break for the challenger, at rates as high as 4 to 1. If an incumbent is polling at, say, 47 to 45 percent with 8 percent undecided, there’s a good chance he’s going to wind up losing 49 to 51. As it’s sometimes expressed, if you’re an incumbent, what you see is what you get.

The same pattern seems to be true for African-American candidates in much of the country. If you’re a black candidate running against a white candidate, what you see is what you get. And it doesn’t matter whether you’re an incumbent or a challenger. If you’re not polling above 50 percent, you should be worried. As of this writing, Barack Obama is not polling consistently above 50 percent in a number of electoral-vote-rich swing states, including Ohio and Florida. He should be worried.

I’m not going to revisit contests from decades past, like Harvey Gantt vs. Jesse Helms for a Senate seat in North Carolina, or even Tom Bradley vs. George Deukmejian for the governorship of California. Let’s just look at the numbers from the final days of four races in four very different states in 2006. Voter behavior may have changed in the 18 years since black Democrat Gantt lost by 5 points despite being even in the polls, but I doubt it has changed as much in the past two years. Just to make it more interesting, none of these contests involved an incumbent trying to keep his job. All were battles for open seats. Two races involved black Republicans, two involved black Democrats.

Before we begin, I should say I’m not going to advance any theories for why voters do what they do, or why they may mislead pollsters. MIT professor Adam Berinsky thinks that some survey respondents, when asked racially charged questions, answer “I don’t know” to conceal opinions they think are unpopular. Me, I’m only going to talk about math.

In Ohio in 2006, black Republican Ken Blackwell ran against white Democrat Ted Strickland for governor. On Nov. 6, the day before the election, Survey USA released a poll showing Strickland with 55 percent, Blackwell with 38 percent, two independents with a combined 3 percent and 4 percent undecided. On Election Day the actual results were Strickland 60.4 percent, Blackwell 36.8 percent and a combined 2.8 percent for the independents. For Blackwell, what he got was just a little less than what he saw.

In Maryland, black Republican Michael Steele and white Democrat Ben Cardin were vying for the Senate seat long held by Democrat Paul Sarbanes. During the week before balloting, the polls were fairly static. Steele wobbled between 43 and 47 percent in surveys from four different companies. Cardin’s total ranged from 47 to 49 percent. Depending on methodology, undecideds accounted for 2 to 7 percent of the sample. The day before the election, a final poll from Survey USA put Cardin at 49 percent and Steele at 47. On Nov. 7, Cardin won with 54.2 percent of the vote. Steele got only 44.2. For Steele, like Blackwell, what he got was less than what he saw. Apparently, Cardin got virtually all the undecideds.

How about Tennessee, where black Democrat Harold Ford was up against white Republican Bob Corker for Republican Bill Frist’s old U.S. Senate seat? Harold Ford did slightly better than Steele and Blackwell. The day before the election, he was within a point of Corker, 47 to 48 with 5 percent undecided, according to OnPoint Polling. On Nov. 7, Corker got 50.7 percent of the vote, Ford got 48 and an assortment of independents took 1.3 percent. Ford was able to pick up one out of every five undecided voters.

In deep blue Massachusetts, white Republican Kerry Healey lost badly to black Democrat Deval Patrick in the race to succeed Mitt Romney as governor. But Healey, who had been Romney’s lieutenant governor, outperformed her polling. In the three weeks prior to the election Healey peaked at 31 percent in five polls that allowed respondents to choose “undecided.” In those same five polls, Patrick averaged 53.4 percent. The number of undecideds ranged from 4 to 11 percent. On Election Day, Healey got 35.33 percent of the vote. Patrick got 55.64. Healey had added more than 4 points to her pre-election poll total, twice as big as Patrick’s increase.

A skeptic could point out that Healey may have been drawing more heavily than Patrick from the relatively large pool of survey respondents who claimed they would be supporting an independent. But a Republican, like me, might point out that there does appear to be a pattern in these four races from just two years ago. And, in the case of Ohio, there was another poll with a different methodology and different results that seemed to confirm that pattern. The University of Cincinnati conducted a poll the day before the gubernatorial election that did not include undecideds. Respondents who initially answered “I don’t know” were pushed to reveal which way they were leaning. All respondents were assigned to a candidate.

The results showed Strickland at 59 percent and Blackwell at 37 percent and the independents at 4 percent. That’s exactly what each candidate got on Election Day. Now recall that the Survey USA poll of the same race, which did allow respondents to answer “undecided” and was conducted the very same day, showed Strickland’s support at 55 percent. It suggests that on Nov. 6, 2006, all the “undecideds” in Ohio, 4 percent of the vote, were really supporters of the white candidate, Ted Strickland.

As you look at the polling data in the homestretch of this election, pay close attention whenever you see any numbers, be they statewide or national, where Sen. Obama is below 50 percent. So long as there are more than a handful of voters describing themselves as undecided, I will maintain that Sen. McCain is very much in the race. Even if Sen. Obama were to open a larger lead, my basis for analyzing things would remain the same. Are there enough undecided voters in crucial states to bridge whatever gap exists in the head-to-head? If so, don’t be shocked if on Election Day, Sen. McCain is your winner.

  42. Barack Obama on Chicago Public Radio WBEZ-FM, 2001: The Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society… and one of the, I think, tragedies of the civil rights movement was, um, because the civil rights movement became so court focused I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalition of powers through which you bring about redistributive change. In some ways we still suffer from that..

    L’esprit d’Escalier

Posted by Andrew McCarty on May 22, 2008

“For those of you out there who aren’t bilingual English/French, the direct translation is “The Spirit of the Stairs” or “The Wit of the Stairs.” The phrase is a French colloquialism originating from the witticisms of Dennis Diderot, a French author of encyclopedias. Essentially, it describes the response to an insult or cutting remark, when it comes too late to be useful.

Romantically, it is a spirit that comes to you on the stairs, as you leave a party, telling you what you should have said when someone made you feel small.

It is possibly one of my favorite French phrases, along with “le seul mot juste” or “the one precise word.”

As infuriating as l’esprit d’escalier can be, it can also be a great tool for both learning and motivation.

How many times in your daily sourcing/recruiting have you approached a candidate who made a statement that you just didn’t have a response to? An objection that immediately de-railed your train of thought and left you speechless? And, after you took off your headset or replaced your handset, the exact reposte occurred to you.

It occurs to me more often than I’d like to admit.

The first thing I typically do, after recovering from slamming my head against the desk, is to figure out how to integrate the response that I’d wished I had into the conversations that I’ll have with future candidates. It allows me to eliminate a possibility for being stumped again by answering an unasked question or debunking an unmade statement.”

    =========================

In late summer iirc there was an article here iirc that said the number of people who consider themselves Democrats (not necessarily registered) had DECREASED from a high early this year. That was before a lot of recent Acorn voter registration cards went in.

  45. Yes, I think there’s something hooey about Dem registration, i dont think its a high as they think it is, I think it includes a lot of Repub voters, who switched to vote in the primaries but never switched back.

Bambi may regret ever doing that Dem for a day business.

  46. moon, That dem for a day reminds how I loathe Obama, he drug Hillary thru the mud everyday and now has the gahl to make her campaign for him. He used the same talking points the very right wing had against her. Reason #1 that I would not vote Obama!

    =============

I’m tempted to say, ‘Me.’ But not really. Between elections, impeachments, etc, I recuperate from the last one.

But some two or three like-minded people, AS site editors/owners. Not really at Big Pink, I was being lazy saying ‘we’. I just meant Some Centrist Good Guys who think like us.

You’ve got the point: a site to wean casual voters away from MSM, needs not to have shocking or far out or flakey stuff.

I don’t know that it needs great numbers of stories, just comparable to the ‘drive-by media’ sites that casual people are using already.

  48. Good news from Zogby: The race is closing:

The race now stands at 49.9% to 45.1% in favor of Obama. Obama now leads McCain by 4.8 points, compared to 5.3 points in yesterday’s report.

Obama leads among independents by 13 points, those who have already voted by 24 points, new voters by 27 points, Hispanics by 48 points and Catholics by 13 points.

McCain holds a slight 2-point lead among men and has increased his lead among white voters to 13 points.

  49. watching fox news this morning, they are spending alot of time on the reporter from Florida, and are really praising her and talking about how poorly Biden behaved, and compared his behavior to Palin’s when CNN took something written in the National Review totally out of context and how well she handled it compared to Biden. And then how the Obama camp is punishing her, and what that says to a possible future Obama win.

  50. Dirty campaign tricks don’t die. They just become more refined with age.

Documents obtained by Townhall show the Democratic Party encouraged party activists to accuse the GOP of intimidating minorities on Election Day even if no evidence of intimidation existed in the 2004 presidential election. The tactic is being used again in 2008, this time to downplay fraud charges against a predominantly minority non-profit supporting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Weeks before the Nov. 4 election Barack Obama’s campaign said the Republicans are attempting to suppress votes by drawing attention to the Association for Community Organizers for Reform Now’s involvement in rampant voter registration fraud across the nation. The nonprofit actively supports Democratic causes, such as minimum wage increases and housing assistance. ACORN endorsed Obama for president last February and has been paid by his campaign to conduct get out the vote activities during the Democratic primay.

  57. OBAMA SAYS CONSTITUTION DEEP FLAW CONTINUES TODAY

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11OhmY1obS4
    —————————————-
This view is shared by his constitutional law advisor Professor Suntein who has written a book on the same premise. Personally, I believe in some level of economic security for all Americans, with the proper incentives. The problems are no control of border, inability to prevent capital flight and the disenfranchised voting themselves larger and larger benefits which would be the undoing of our democracy. In other words, I have no problem with the idea, but the devil is in the detail.

But in any case, it could never work under someone like Obama. He and his minions would turn it into a a spoils system, with the middle class as his cash cow. This would undermine social cohesion. By the way, the middle class WILL be his cash cow, and anyone who cannot see that now is not paying attention.

Daily Kos Desperately Spinning Obama ‘Redistribution of Wealth’ Audio
    By P.J. Gladnick | October 27, 2008 – 09:54

The Kossacks at the Daily Kos are hitting the panic button over the Obama “redistribution of wealth” audio which has become the hottest political topic on the Web, including the Drudge Report. As NewsBusters Mark Finkelstein has noted, most of the MSM morning TV shows, with the exception of Fox & Friends and Morning Joe, are still continuing to bury this story which your humble correspondent posted earlier today. However, this burial by the MSM is giving little comfort to the denizens of the Daily Kos. Right now they are trying to desperately spin away this story with excuses that Obama talking about “redistribution of wealth” was taken out of context or that we must understand the nuances of what he actually meant. You can see the Daily Kos spin control on this erupting story on this thread so let us now join the Kossacks as they sweat buckets trying to explain away Obama’s words that could cost him the election:

Whites Should Not be Allowed to VOTE
according to the Philly Inquirer’s Jonathan Valania!
    &&&&&&&&&&

Again, the false notion is spread by Valania that anyone (caucasian or other) voting against Obama is doing so predominantly or entirely on the pigmentation of his dermis… that not one single person in this country is entitled to weigh other factors in this candidate known as Obama…factors such as:

    * the thinnest resume in modern presidential candidates
    * the most extremely liberal voting record in the Senate
    * a willingness to use racism as a means for blindsiding / undermining his opponents (HRC, JM), and for “hoodwinking” the voting populace
    * extreme secrecy and opacity in his records, his past, his associations, etc., despite his claiming to run a campaign that is a model of transparency
    * willingness to completely reverse his stance on any number of issues: FISA. public financing, the Surge, etc….. It does not matter that I may or may not agree with Obama on Topic X; I don’t know if he’ll change his position tomorrow.

So, Mr. Valania, instead of white people not being able to vote, I suggest you limit it to “stupid journalists espousing ridiculous positions”.

And, by the way, Valania sounds like pharmaceutical product: “Valania, for when you’re feeling cranky”.

Hillary Backers Decry Massive Obama Vote Fraud

    Monday, October 27, 2008 10:45 AM

By: Kenneth R. Timmerman Article Font Size

With accusations of voter registration fraud swirling as early voting begins in many states, some Hillary Clinton supporters are saying: “I told you so.”

Already in Iowa, the Obama campaign was breaking the rules, busing in supporters from neighboring states to vote illegally in the first contest in the primaries and physically intimidating Hillary supporters, they say.

Obama’s surprisingly strong win in Iowa, which defied all the polls, propelled his upstart candidacy to front-runner status. But Lynette Long, a Hillary supporter from Bethesda, Md., who has a long and respected academic career, believes Obama’s victory in Iowa and in 12 other caucus states was no miracle. “It was fraud,” she told Newsmax.

Long has spent several months studying the caucus and primary results.

(this article is really long full of facts from the primary etc…… great article! please go read it all here: http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/obama_voter_fraud/2008/10/27/144303.html

  83. Valania also mentioned that whites were responsible for electing Bush Redux.

I would like to lay the blame for the last eight years more squarely where it belongs: on the main stream media. Just as they’ve given Bambi a free pass, covered up for his appalling lack of knowledge, covered up his veeps gaffes, and tilted the debates in his favor, and created a bizarre post-debate reality (“George Bush won the first debate because he was seen as presidential and confident, and Al Gore was seen as the sighing, eye-rolling Annoyingly Smartest Kid in the Class”), they helped sell W. in 2000 and 2004. They, including the NY Times, helped sell the Iraq War. They were all too cowed into submission to perform their jobs. And now, they are too scared to call Obama out on the myriad of valid charges.

  88. Voting Supervisors Are Obama Donors

    Monday, October 27, 2008 10:29 AM

    By: Jim Meyers

Justice Department attorneys charged with supervising voting issues and probing potential voter fraud are avowed Barack Obama supporters and have contributed to the Democrat’s presidential campaign.

According to Federal Election Commission data seen by the Wall Street Journal, James Walsh, an attorney in the Civil Rights Division, has contributed at least $300 to Obama. His boss Mark Kappelhoff has donated $2,250, and John Russ, also in Civil Rights, has donated at least $600.

“Prosecutors who are supposed to guard against voter fraud don’t seem very interested in running the political risk of doing their job,” the Journal states in an editorial on Monday headlined “Justice and Vote Fraud.”

The inaction is especially glaring in light of the fact that the Association of Community Organizations for Reform (ACORN) has been caught filing thousands of bogus voter registrations in more than a dozen states, and ACORN’s “history of deceit and the national sweep of today’s scandal demand a federal probe,” according to the Journal.

In Ohio alone, as many as 200,000 new voter registrations are suspect. But Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, a Democrat, is refusing to follow requirements that she verify those registrations.

The Justice Department can take action, but has so far done nothing, with the “excuse” that it isn’t appropriate to file litigation so close to Election Day, the Journal reports.

But that hasn’t prevented the Civil Rights Division from filing a suit this month against Waller County, Tex., to deal with alleged violations of the Voting Rights Act, and taking other actions to protect voter access to the polls.

The Journal concludes: “Voter access does need to be protected, but Democrats are using that principle as a political weapon, suggesting that any serious look at fraud is intended to ‘disenfranchise’ voters. This is a naked attempt to protect their friends at ACORN.”

International House of Protesters: European Transplants Worry about Socialism

The protesters waving signs along College Avenue before Barrack Obama speak had more in common than just their opposition of the senator. Nearly half of them were foreign born.

Countries like Romania, Holland, Germany and the Netherlands were represented in the group who said Obama will bring a socialist agenda that mirrors the agenda of European countries.

Martin Boonstoppel, 47, and Juul Dijkstra both of the Netherlands, said they wanted to protest what they saw as an unfair tax policy.

“I lived under socialism and we were taxed hug amounts and it was going to people who did not work,” said Dijkstra, who moved to the United States in 2003. “That is part of the reason I fled home.”

Boonstoppel said he was taxed up to 52 percent and did want to see the same happen under an Obama administration.

In recent weeks, opponents of Obama have tried to paint his tax policies as a bordering socialism.

Gina Bagbey of Fort Collins said she came out to show support for the Republican ticket, Arizona Sen. John McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

But Bagbey said she worries Obama will bring a socialist agenda to the White House.

“I don’t like the tax the rich and give the poor,” she said. “ Obama reminds me Karl Marx.”

Protestors said they were surprised in the level of support they got from drivers who honked as they drove past.

“I was really worried because Fort Collins is more liberal,” Bagbey said.

Kaylin Brewer, 18 of Fort Collins, said she supports McCain and worries about the growth of government if the Democratic control not only both houses in Congress but also the White House.

“The government is just going to get more and more control,” Brewer said.

After the speech, Larry Bruns stood on the corner of Mulberry Street and College Avenue waving a sign reading “No clue, Nobama,” and had a picture of Obama with Mickey Mouse ears.

As Obama supporters cleared out from the speech, some had a few choice words for Bruns.

“I have had my share of the f word,” he said.

    SNIP

In a statement sent out by the campaign today, John McCain’s senior policy adviser Doug Holtz-Eakin claims the interview is evidence that Obama would pursue “socialism” as president. “The American people continue to learn more about Barack Obama,” Holtz-Eakin said. “Now we know that the slogans ‘change you can believe in’ and ‘change we need’ are code words for Barack Obama’s ultimate goal: ‘redistributive change.’ … No wonder he wants to appoint judges that legislate from the bench – as insurance in case a unified Democratic government under his control fails to meet his basic goal: taking money away from people who work for it and giving it to people who Barack Obama believes deserve it. Europeans call it socialism, Americans call it welfare, and Barack Obama calls it change.”

Obama’s 2007 Senate Floor Commitment to an `Egalitarian Society’

By Marinka Peschmann, Special to Canada Free Press Monday, October 27, 2008
Senator Barack Obama is committed for America to be an “egalitarian society.” What? Obama hasn’t told Americans about that commitment on the campaign trail to the White House but it’s true. And this time Obama cannot attack Joe the plumber for exposing his socialist plans for America. You see, Obama proclaimed his commitment to being an egalitarian society; which in some circles is described as the holy grail of socialism–last year on the U.S. Senate floor when he introduced the Citizenship Promotion Act, S. 795.
Here’s what Obama told his Senate colleagues on March 7, 2007: “Let’s stop sending mixed messages. Let’s work together and set immigration fees at a level that are fair and consistent with our commitment to being an open, democratic, and egalitarian society.” (italics mine)
Obama’s “egalitarian society” commitment is a clear statement that defines his intentions for “change” if he is elected President of the United States.
    Where to begin?
First, as reported here (www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/4975 ) , Obama’s Citizenship Promotion Act, part of his “leading role in crafting immigration reform,” hurts America’s interests. Why? Because Obama’s bill doesn’t secure the borders or clean up the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services, a bureaucracy that protects America’s national security but is riddled by corruption including bribe-taking, as it combats a 20-year backlog of applications from immigrants following America’s laws. Instead while the global economy feels the pocketbook pain of ACORN’s role in the mortgage crisis, Obama’s Citizenship Promotion Act rewards community organizer groups like ACORN with U.S. $80 million taxpayer dollars for these groups to “organize the immigrant community” towards citizenship, via the beleaguered USCIS, to voter booths. So when Obama declares immigration fees should be set that are “fair and consistent with our commitment to being an open, democratic, and egalitarian society,” it sounded really nice, (except for the chilling misnomer: America is not an egalitarian society—at least not yet), but the reality is starkly different. Fair fees, unfair fees, the immigrants Obama seeks to “organize” in his legislation cannot be processed for months if not years unless government officials are bribed or the USCIS, miraculously, is reformed. Instead of fixing the immigration crisis, Obama’s bill compounds itby providing an U.S. $80 million grant for community organizers to wreck havoc on this grossly troubled government agency.
Next, what does Obama’s open, democratic, and egalitarian commitment for America mean?
Egalitarianism is defined as “a social and political philosophy asserting the equality of all men, especially in their access to the rights and privileges of their society.” It’s a social “philosophy advocating the removal of inequalities among people.” The objective of egalitarianism advocacy is socialism.
Socialism is “a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done.” It’s founded on two tenets: Thomas Jefferson’s, “All men are created equal,” in the Declaration of Independence and Karl Marx’s “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.”

History proves that socialists offer few practical points about how these two principles can be reconciled where everyone’s quality of life is harmoniously lifted up instead of knocked down, as Fidel Castro’s Cuba, and Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela personifies. It’s been said that capitalism may be the “uneven distribution of wealth,” but “socialism” is “the even distribution of poverty.”

Some argue that socialists and egalitarians bungled the meaning of Jefferson’s “all men are created equal,” because reality gets in the way of Marx’s communist dreams of utopia. Why? Because everybody has God-given unique talents, ambitions and characteristics, and under the Declaration of Independence each individual enjoys equal liberty, and the freedom to choose how they want to live.
Egalitarianism and Marxism is in direct odds with that principle because it attempts to force individuals to accept the dictates of the masses, extinguishing everybody’s unique traits to achieve equity of results. Mediocrity and oppression inevitably prevails.
There is no doubt that Obama’s “commitment to being an open, democratic, and egalitarian society” will bring a radical change to America.
Believe Michelle Obama when she retells her husband’s speech when they first met about, “the world as it is, and the world as it should be.”
As President, on day one of an Obama administration, with the stroke of a pen, Obama may issue executive orders to achieve his “world as it should be” egalitarian goals

Who will rejoice? Obama’s Marxist associations, people like the self-described communist with a small ‘c’ and anarchist, the “distinguished scholar” and terrorist William Ayers, the Obama’s former pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright, his Back Liberation theology followers, and radical leftist groups like ACORN.
This election is not about race, it’s about freedom. Americans have a clear choice. Do they want to live in Obama’s egalitarianism idea of utopia or live in America, the land of the free and the home of the brave that the Founding Fathers intended?
    Vote on November 4.

    It’s all good in Chicago.

More pesky facts from a friend in Ilinois:

Please read and consider the following.

Body count: In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago; 221
    killed in Iraq.
Sens. Barack Obama & Dick Durbin, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., Gov. Rod
    Blogojevich,
House leader Mike Madigan, Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike),
Mayor Richard M. Daley (son of Mayor Richard J. Daley)
    …..our leadership in Illinois…..all Democrats.
Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago. Of course, they’re all blaming
    each other.
Can’t blame Republicans, there aren’t any!
State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country.
Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. (Look ‘em up if
    you want).
Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.
This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois. And he’s gonna ‘fix’ Washington politics for us!

  98. Basil,

I saw it on the newscast video you posted about the jerk who hung a female mannequin…gross, because of his potential death in the Forrestal fire when he was in his jet as it was hit by part of a wayward missle that misfired. Jet was totally destroyed by fire and explosion, and it was pure grit and a miracle that he got his canopy open, slid down the nose and got sprayed with fire retardant as he ran like hell from the exploding planes.

  102. McCain says Bush policy on economy is wrong

AP story hot off the wires (from Yahoo):

    news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081027/ap_on_el_pr/mccain;_ylt=AqaLPZnjRegJNFdMQUDbCLIuQE4F

CLEVELAND – Republican John McCain promised Monday to break with President Bush’s policies on the economy and put a tight lid on government spending.

Flanked by some of his economic advisers, the Republican presidential candidate bashed Democratic rival Barack Obama, but also made clear he would steer a different course than the current GOP administration.

“We both disagree with President Bush on economic policies,” McCain said. “My approach is to get spending under control. The difference between us is he thinks taxes have been too low, and I think that spending has been too high.”

Before he spoke, McCain met with economic advisers including former rival Mitt Romney and former Housing Secretary Jack Kemp. The event was designed to focus his message on the economic meltdown that has dominated the campaign and left him on the defensive. The economic downturn has helped boost Obama to a lead in the polls, both nationally and in key battleground states like Ohio.

“My plan will create millions of jobs in America, and Americans are beginning to figure that out,” McCain said. “I will protect your savings and stock market account and get the stock market rising again.”

“The difference between myself and Sen. Obama is my plan will create jobs, it’s a difference of millions of jobs in America,” he said.

Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton responded, “A day after John McCain said that he agreed with George Bush’s economic philosophy, he continued to parrot the same failed policies that give billions to billionaires and big corporations while providing no relief at all to more than 100 million middle-class Americans.”

McCain’s meeting with economic advisers came as polls show him trailing Obama, with most Americans deeply worried about the direction of the economy. For weeks McCain has been seeking to distance himself from Bush and his economic policies and he made that break complete in the nation’s industrial heartland. Obama has tried equally hard to tie McCain to Bush, repeatedly citing McCain’s 90 percent support for Bush in Senate votes.

McCain opposed another economic stimulus package and said he would instead seek to bring spending under control. He made clear the advisers he met with would be part of his administration and it would steer a far different course than Bush.

McCain described an economic stimulus under discussion in Congress as “another $300 billion spending spree they are calling a stimulus plan.”

“I would rather give the great American middle class additional tax cuts and let you keep the money and invest it in your future,” said McCain.

“I’ve been through tough times like this before and the American people can trust me, based on my record, and results, to take strong action to end this crisis, restore jobs and bring security to Americans,” McCain said.

“My approach is to get spending under control and cut taxes to encourage individuals to invest in our markets or buy a home and to encourage businesses to hire more workers,” said McCain.

The Arizona senator argued that Obama’s economic plans would “destroy business growth, kill jobs and lead to continued decline in the stock marker and make a recession even deeper and more painful.”

McCain repeated his proposals to cut taxes for those who hold stocks for at least a year, and end requirements that force people to take money out of retirement accounts during the market’s downturn.

He also said he would toughen rules governing the financial markets.

“I will demand complete transparency into the accounts and activities at all banks and insurance companies so they cannot take on the kind of risk that brought down the financial system,” said McCain. “We will have strict rules of conduct on Wall Street and if they are broken, executives will be severely punished.”

While he backed a $700 billion rescue package for the financial sector, McCain said “the government will get out of the banking business fast” if he’s elected.

He argued that voters face a stark contrast in just over a week.

“This election comes down to how you want your hard-earned money spent,” said McCain. “Do you want to keep it and invest it in your future, or have it taken by the most liberal person ever to run for the presidency.”

Fascism is a totalitarian nationalist ideology[1][2][3] that is primarily concerned with perceived problems associated with cultural, economic, political, and social decline or decadence, and which seeks to solve such problems by achieving a millenarian[citation needed] national rebirth by exalting the nation or race as well as promoting cults of unity, strength and purity.[4][5][6][7][8]
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism

    Socialism
Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating state or collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and the creation of an egalitarian society[1][2] Modern socialism originated in the late nineteenth-century working class political movement. Karl Marx posited that socialism would be achieved via class struggle and a proletarian revolution which represents the transitional stage between capitalism and communism.[3][4]
Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital and creates an unequal society. All socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly, although there is considerable disagreement among socialists over how, and to what extent this could be achieved.[1]
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist

Communism is a socioeconomic structure that promotes the establishment of an egalitarian, classless society based on common ownership of the means of production and property in general.[1][2][3] According to Marxism, communism is the final stage in human society and is both classless and stateless. Leninists have attempted to produce communist societies by setting up political parties, which in some cases have become governments. These attempts have never produced the “pure” communist societies envisoned by Marx, and have led to totalitarian states.
Communism is usually considered to be a branch of socialism, a broad group of social and political ideologies, which draws on the various political and intellectual movements with origins in the work of theorists of the Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution.[4] Communism attempts to offer an alternative to the problems believed to be inherent with capitalist economies and the legacy of imperialism and nationalism. Communism states that the only way to solve these problems is for the working class, or proletariat, to replace the wealthy bourgeoisie, which is currently the ruling class, in order to establish a peaceful, free society, without classes, or government.[2] The dominant forms of communism, such as Leninism, Stalinism, Maoism and Trotskyism are based on Marxism, but non-Marxist versions of communism (such as Christian communism and anarchist communism) also exist.

DUBIOUS DONATIONS: BAM’S WEB SITE INVITES FRAUD

    By SCOTT W. JOHNSON
    Posted: 3:36 am
    October 27, 2008

Barack Obama has proved the greatest fund-raiser of all time by a long shot. His campaign has raised more than $600 million – $150 million in September alone. But the campaign has also failed to adopt standard protections against fraudulent giving.

The average contribution to Obama in September was just under $86. And federal law only requires the disclosure of identifying information for contributions in excess of $200. Campaigns must keep running totals for each donor and report them once they exceed $200.

The Federal Election Commission says the Obama campaign has reported well over $200 million as coming from contributions of $200 or less. Only a small portion of that sum is attributable to donors the Obama campaign has disclosed.

No presidential campaign has ever before received such a gargantuan sum of money from unidentified contributors.

The campaign’s records reveal big contributors with names like “Doodad Pro” (employer: “Loving,” profession: “You”) and “Good Will” (same employer and profession). Both donated via credit card. Other reports have suggested that some donations come from overseas – raising the question of whether Obama is accepting donations from foreigners, another violation of federal law.

All of which prompted an enterprising citizen to test the controls put in place to enforce compliance with federal campaign law by the Obama and McCain campaigns. Last Thursday, he decided to conduct an experiment.

He went to the Obama campaign Web site and made a donation under the name “John Galt” (the hero of Ayn Rand’s novel “Atlas Shrugged”). He provided the equally fictitious address “1957 Ayn Rand Lane, Galts Gulch, CO 99999.”

He checked the box next to $15 and entered his actual credit-card number and expiration date. He was then taken to the next page and notified that his donation had been processed.

He then tried the same experiment on the McCain site, which rejected the transaction. He returned to the Obama site and made three more donations using the names Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein and Bill Ayers, all with different addresses but the same credit card. The transactions all went through. By Saturday, he’d reported that the transactions had all posted to his credit-card account.

Others repeated “John Galt’s” experiment last week, giving to Obama under such fictitious names as Della Ware, Joe Plumber, Idiot Savant, Ima BadDonation (with a Canadian bank card) and Fake Donor.

What accounts for the Obama campaign’s acceptance of these fraudulent donations? Most merchants selling goods and services use the basic Address Verification System that screens credit-card charges for matching names and addresses. (It can also screen cards issued by foreign banks.) The McCain campaign uses AVS and provides a searchable database of all donors, including those who fall below the $200 threshold. The Obama campaign apparently has chosen not to use the AVS system to screen donations.

“Della Ware” contacted The New York Times to report her experience contributing under a fictitious name and address (“12345 No Way”) to the Obama campaign, while her contribution was rejected by the McCain campaign. Times reporter Michael Luo verified “Della Ware’s” account and reported it online at the Times’ campaign blog. But Luo missed the story’s point.

“To be fair to the Obama campaign,” he wrote, its “officials have said much of their checking for fraud occurs after the transactions have already occurred. When they find something wrong, they then refund the amount.”

But the Obama campaign is running a system that complicates the discovery of “something wrong.” It has chosen to operate an online contribution system that facilitates illegal falsely sourced contributions, illegal foreign contributions and the evasion of contribution limits.

Obama backers making such contributions may not be worried that “something wrong” will be detected if they have no intention of complaining about it.

According to journalist Kenneth Timmerman, the Obama site did not ask for proof of citizenship until just recently – in contrast not just with McCain but also with Hillary Clinton. Sen. Clinton’s presidential campaign required US citizens living abroad to fax copies of their passports before it would accept donations. By contrast, foreign donors to Obama can just use credit cards and false addresses.

Why has the Obama campaign chosen to operate without the basic automated credit-card controls that would prevent or hamper fraud and illegal contributions? Has it made a conscious decision to assist the evasion of federal campaign law or worry about it after it has had the use of the money?

It’s hard to see any other motive.

Well, Mr. Pollster, pick your poison:

    a) last week you oversampled Dems and undersampled Repubs, and you tried again, but there was so much movement away from Obama that it still comes out even?

    or

    b) Obama just squandered 8 points, despite the “Obama cruising to victory” assessment by MSM, and their laying rose petals at his feet as he gallantly strides toward 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

  113. I herd a very interesting comments on my local radio station. john McManus, author of Financial Terrorism- Hijacking America under the Threat of bankruptcy – was destroying BO’s plans by comparing them to what happened in Germany after WW1. German citizens were forced to pay huge reparations to the rest of Europe and people lost everything from their livliehoods to their homes, from savings to food.
According to McManus, that set the stage for the Hitler propaganda machine to take over.

If BO manages to steal the GE this country will be in another Civil War or worse.

  116. As bad as barack is the press in this country is far worse. I was telling a friend today that they have changed from a purveyour of objective information to a tool for social control. The picture I saw in NYT this morning was right out of a Nurenberg Rally, as depicted by Leny Reifenstahl. History never repeats itself, but the patterns are unmisakable, and that is the tragedy of history. All the more reason why McCain must and therefore will win. When he wins the debunking of Big Media will begin. The damage they have done to themselves is irreparable. Admins article posted upstream nails it.

    &&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Reminds me of the old SNL skit:

“This is real important. You can’t add too much “.

The ambiguity is that it could mean:

    a) You should not exceed a threshold or it will cause problems (if you add too much oil to the tank, you’ll blow out your seals)

    b) You should use said product liberally, because there is no limit (there’s no such thing as having too much healthy food and clean living)

So does the guy above mean, “I can’t be stupid”?
    a) “I must vote for a Democrat no matter what, even if he is not worthy, not qualified to be president. ”

    If so, isn’t that stupid?

    b) “I should NOT be stupid”.

If so, wouldn’t researching candidates based on their credentials, not on the color of their skin, but on the content of their character, be the test they should consider when stepping into the voting booth?

The real question is, then, do you reflexively vote for a party based on past history, perceived or real? Or should you examine and question the candidates.

To me, the Presidency is a very important job. I take my job, of vetting the candidates, seriously.

And yes, I would vote for a black candidate, or Asian, or Muslim, in a heartbeat, if I thought they were the better candidate.

  122. for all of us singing the praises of FOX and their unbiased coverage and how Sean Hannity is going after BHO with the 10 reasons why you shouldn’t vote for BHO, I’d like to remind my dear friends here just one little tidbit.

Not long ago I heard Hannity along with FOX in their most passionate appeals tell their viewers how Hillary Clinton was not right for America. Day after day in the primaries their stories were filled with assault on the woman who would be president.

I have no love for them, they are BM, and they too are the flip side of the Obama news networks.

Once they took out Hillary they thought it would be a breeze to take out BHO…right!

Thank Hannity for all his hard work!

  123. Debbir,
I disagree Hannity and Fox have been all over the Ayers and Wright’s connections with Obama since the primaries started. Trying to pound it into everyone’s head that Obama can not be trusted.

Obama’s Hawaii Trips Cost More Than Palin’s Clothes

    Sunday, October 26, 2008 3:21 PM

By: Ronald Kessler Article Font Size

Barack Obama’s trips to Hawaii on a chartered Boeing 757 each cost more than twice the price of Sarah Palin’s new clothes.

Brad Blakeman, who was in charge of scheduling for President Bush, says a Boeing 757 costs about $20,000 an hour for fuel, crew, and maintenance. Since a trip to Hawaii entails 10 hours of flying time from Chicago, the total cost for each round-trip comes to about $400,000.

Obama used the Boeing 757 for trips to Hawaii over the summer for a vacation and again last week to see his failing grandmother. Admirable though that visit was, “By Obama using a private jet to go on a purely personal visit to see his grandma, he’s wasting not only energy, but he’s using the money that his supporters have given him for campaign purposes,” Blakeman says. “It’s a purely personal visit paid for with campaign funds.”

On the other hand, the media are highlighting the Republican National Committee’s purchase of $150,000 in clothes for Palin, even though the dresses will be donated to charities. The New York Times played the story on page one.

“They’re picking on Palin, who was provided a wardrobe by the RNC strictly for political purposes, and it was always intended that these garments would be then given to charity,” Blakeman says. “So there’s a benefit that’s going to charity, not a benefit that Palin will have after the election. There was a need for it because she’s a modest person who didn’t have an extensive wardrobe to do 24/7 campaigning.”

To pick on Palin without going after Obama’s plane trips is “an absolute journalistic abuse,” Blakeman says. “This is the same plane that he took to Hawaii when he went on vacation. In the summertime, when gas was soaring and Americans were having to pinch their pennies, this guy gets on his campaign plane and goes to Hawaii on vacation. He did a couple campaign stops in a state that is not a swing state and is a guaranteed win for Obama. That was clearly to cover the tracks of this vacation.”

Blakeman notes that at the height of the gasoline price surge, Obama suggested that Americans check their vehicle’s tire pressure as a way of conserving fuel.

“I wonder if he checked the tires on his jumbo jet before taking off for a purely personal visit?” Blakeman says. “The way he spends campaign money is a direct reflection of how he will spend ours. He could have easily flown commercial or taken a much smaller corporate aircraft that would cost a fraction of a 757.”

Ironically, it was Palin as governor who saved money for Alaskans by selling the state’s jet and instead flying commercial.

Kellyanne Conway, one of the most respected Republican pollsters, says the media’s attack on Palin’s clothes is an example of elitist snobbery or “classism.” Noting the media’s treatment of her, “I can’t believe her own family still approves of her, after the unprecedented, personal and relentless attacks that this woman has undergone,” Conway says.

Besides attacks on Palin over her clothes, Conway cites snide remarks about “the way she speaks, her husband’s lack of a college degree, the barefoot and pregnant 17-year-old daughter, you know who hunts moose anyway? The classism is so raw and unapologetic, so unconsidered and so undisguised.”

  133. Hmmmmmmm……..
    I find THIS fascinating.
    From hillbuzz.

We were told months ago here in Chicago at an Obama fundraiser we were invited to that the Obama campaign knew “three big punches” would come at them in the last days of the campaign: one of them would call Obama out on his socialist beliefs (check), one would be the tape the LA Times is dong its desperate best to sit on – Obama praising Palestinian “freedom fighter” Rhahid Khalidi at a 2003 Chicago dinner where anti-Israel remarks flew casually about (tentative check, in that Hannity and others are calling the Times out for sitting on this), and another unspecified “punch” where either Obama himself or Michelle made inappropriate remarks in public (still waiting, with 8 days to go!).

It looks like punch number one landed hard today — and Obama’s followers are regrouping for a counter attack. We were also told at that fundraiser that once Obama was hit with anything, the retaliation would be claiming John McCain beat his first wife Carol when they were married. This is a page from the book Obama used against Blair Hull in 2004 when Obama claimed the Democratic nomination for Senate, largely after false allegations of spousal abuse surfaced against Hull (who, we know for a fact, never abused his wife — in fact, the man’s given more money to women’s groups than anyone we know of and is a solid, respectful feminist if anything). Obama supporters here in Chicago were giddy when they talked about “the retaliation” the Obama campaign would hit McCain with — ugliness about Carol, manufactured in Chicago and spread as lies via Obama’s glassy eyed followers.

  134. So Obama thinks the constitution is flawed. It would not surprise me if he would suspend all future elections and declare himself President for life.

  135. McCain needs to come out now as does his ex-wife and jump down Obama’s throat about these lies of abuse…before they do the damage they are intended to do. This is one more example of so many others where Obama doesn’t walk the talk. So much for “change”…what a joke. He is the master of dirty politics.

  140. MRC/NB’s Bozell Comments – Demands that Media Report Sen. Obama’s Radical Views

Media Research Center Founder and President L. Brent Bozell, III today demanded the press report on damning new evidence of Illinois Democratic Senator and Presidential nominee Barack Obama’s radical views on how we need to “break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution” because it “doesn’t say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf.” In tearing away from the Constitution, Sen. Obama says he seeks to achieve “social justice” through “redistributive change.”

In the 2001 Chicago Public Radio interview, the audio of which has just surfaced, Sen. Obama laments that “the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society.”

The media have refused to report on or obfuscated what has now become a series of comments from Sen. Obama that indicate a radical outlook on America, wealth redistribution and the courts. He famously told “Joe the Plumber” (Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher) that we need to “spread the wealth around.” On his nominees for the courts, he said “We need somebody who’s got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it’s like to be a young teenage mom. The empathy to understand what it’s like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. And that’s the criteria by which I’m going to be selecting my judges.”

But he also has some insight into the source of the audio and some choice words for a media elite that has spent nearly two years failing to do even the most basic digging into the Democratic candidate’s background and associations.

Here’s what Whittle reveals, and most of his related comments:

I happen to know the person who found this audio. It is an individual person, with no more resources than a desire to know everything that he or she can about who might be the next president of the United States and the most powerful man in the world.

I know that this person does not have teams of highly paid professionals, does not work out of a corner office in a skyscraper in New York, does not have access to all of the subtle and hidden conduits of information … who possesses no network television stations, owns no satellite time, does not receive billions in advertising dollars, and has a staff of exactly one.

I do not blame Barack Obama for believing in wealth distribution. …..

I do, however, blame the press for allowing an individual citizen to do the work that they employ standing armies of so-called professionals for. I know they are capable of this kind of investigative journalism: It only took them a day or two to damage Sarah Palin with wild accusations about her baby’s paternity and less time than that to destroy a man who happened to be playing ball when the Messiah decided to roll up looking for a few more votes on the way to the inevitable coronation.

We no longer have an independent, fair, investigative press. That is abundantly clear to everyone — even the press. It is just another of the facts that they refuse to report, because it does not suit them.

Remember this, America: The press did not break this story. A single citizen, on the Internet did.

There is a special hell for you “journalists” out there, a hell made specifically for you narcissists and elitists who think you have the right to determine which information is passed on to the electorate and which is not.

That hell — your own personal hell — is a fiery lake of irrelevance, blinding clouds of obscurity, and burning, everlasting scorn.

    You’ve earned it.

    That they have.

Whittle also expresses fear that the press, rather than dealing with the substance of the Obama interview, will go after the person who released the tape and that person’s family. That fear, based on the press treatment of Joe the Plumber, is unfortunately justified.

  145. This country is going to take away the incentive for working, if they keep going like this. Did you hear about the potential plans to stop the tax breaks for 401K plans?

    http://www.workforce.com/section/00/article/25/83/58.php

Powerful House Democrats are eyeing proposals to overhaul the nation’s $3 trillion 401(k) system, including the elimination of most of the $80 billion in annual tax breaks that 401(k) investors receive.

House Education and Labor Committee Chairman George Miller, D-California, and Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Washington, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee’s Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support, are looking at redirecting those tax breaks to a new system of guaranteed retirement accounts to which all workers would be obliged to contribute.

A plan by Teresa Ghilarducci, professor of economic-policy analysis at the New School for Social Research in New York, contains elements that are being considered. She testified last week before Miller’s Education and Labor Committee on her proposal.

At that hearing, the director of the Congressional Budget Office, Peter Orszag, testified that some $2 trillion in retirement savings has been lost over the past 15 months.

Under Ghilarducci’s plan, all workers would receive a $600 annual inflation-adjusted subsidy from the U.S. government but would be required to invest 5 percent of their pay into a guaranteed retirement account administered by the Social Security Administration. The money in turn would be invested in special government bonds that would pay 3 percent a year, adjusted for inflation.

The current system of providing tax breaks on 401(k) contributions and earnings would be eliminated.

“I want to stop the federal subsidy of 401(k)s,” Ghilarducci said in an interview. “401(k)s can continue to exist, but they won’t have the benefit of the subsidy of the tax break.”

Under the current 401(k) system, investors are charged relatively high retail fees, Ghilarducci said.

“I want to spend our nation’s dollar for retirement security better. Everybody would now be covered” if the plan were adopted, Ghilarducci said.

She has been in contact with Miller and McDermott about her plan, and they are interested in pursuing it, she said.

“This [plan] certainly is intriguing,” said Mike DeCesare, press secretary for McDermott.

“That is part of the discussion,” he said.

While Miller stopped short of calling for Ghilarducci’s plan at the hearing last week, he was clearly against continuing tax breaks as they currently exist.

    Savings rate
“The savings rate isn’t going up for the investment of $80 billion,” he said. “We have to start to think about … whether or not we want to continue to invest that $80 billion for a policy that’s not generating what we now say it should.”

“From where I sit that’s just crazy,” said John Belluardo, president of Stewardship Financial Services Inc. in Tarrytown, New York. “A lot of people contribute to their 401(k)s because of the match of the employer,” he said. Belluardo’s firm does not manage assets directly.

Higher-income employers provide matching funds to employee plans so that they can qualify for tax benefits for their own defined-contribution plans, he said.

“If the tax deferral goes away, the employers have no reason to do the matches, which primarily help people in the lower income brackets,” Belluardo said.

“This is a battle between liberalism and conservatism,” said Christopher Van Slyke, a partner in the La Jolla, California, advisory firm Trovena, which manages $400 million. “People are afraid because their accounts are seeing some volatility, so Democrats will seize on the opportunity to attack a program where investors control their own destiny,” he said.

The Profit Sharing/401(k) Council of America in Chicago, which represents employers that sponsor defined-contribution plans, is “staunchly committed to keeping the employee benefit system in America voluntary,” said Ed Ferrigno, vice president in the Washington office.

“Some of the tenor [of the hearing last week] that the entire system should be based on the activities of the markets in the last 90 days is not the way to judge the system,” he said.

No legislative proposals have been introduced and Congress is out of session until next year.

However, most political observers believe that Democrats are poised to gain seats in both the House and the Senate, so comments made by the mostly Democratic members who attended the hearing could be a harbinger of things to come.

    Advice at issue
In addition to tax breaks for 401(k)s, the issue of allowing investment advisors to provide advice for 401(k) plans was also addressed at the hearing. Rep. Robert Andrews, D-New Jersey, was critical of Department of Labor proposals made in August that would allow advisors to give individual advice if the advice was generated using a computer model.

Andrews characterized the proposals as “loopholes” and said that investment advice should not be given by advisors who have a direct interest in the sale of financial products.

The Pension Protection Act of 2006 contains provisions making it easier for investment advisors to give individualized counseling to 401(k) holders.

“In retrospect that doesn’t seem like such a good idea to me,” Andrews said. “This is an issue I think we have to revisit. I frankly think that the compromise we struck in 2006 is not terribly workable or wise,” he said.

On Thursday, October 9, the Department of Labor hastily scheduled a public hearing on the issue in Washington for Tuesday, October 21.

The agency does not frequently hold public hearings on its proposals.

    ———————————-
    Bad Editors

Why? I think I know, because had my life taken a different path, I could have been one: Picture yourself in your 50s in a job where you’ve spent 30 years working your way to the top, to the cockpit of power & only to discover that you’re presiding over a dying industry. The Internet and alternative media are stealing your readers, your advertisers and your top young talent. Many of your peers shrewdly took golden parachutes and disappeared. Your job doesn’t have anywhere near the power and influence it did when your started your climb. The Newspaper Guild is too weak to protect you any more, and there is a very good chance you’ll lose your job before you cross that finish line, 10 years hence, of retirement and a pension.

In other words, you are facing career catastrophe — and desperate times call for desperate measures. Even if you have to risk everything on a single Hail Mary play. Even if you have to compromise the principles that got you here. After all, newspapers and network news are doomed anyway — all that counts is keeping them on life support until you can retire.

And then the opportunity presents itself — an attractive young candidate whose politics likely matches yours, but more important, he offers the prospect of a transformed Washington with the power to fix everything that has gone wrong in your career.

With luck, this monolithic, single-party government will crush the alternative media via a revived fairness doctrine, re-invigorate unions by getting rid of secret votes, and just maybe be beholden to people like you in the traditional media for getting it there.

And besides, you tell yourself, it’s all for the good of the country

  149. did anyone here see or hear of this one???????????????????
    obamawtf.blogspot.com/2008/10/obama-wants-us-to-drive-less-washington.html

    Tuesday, October 21, 2008
Obama wants us to drive less to stop Global Warming; Washington State Dems pass Draconian Law forcing people out of their cars

urious what an energy policy may look like under an Obama Administration? Back in May, Obama told Oregonians

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times… and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK…. That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen.”

Meanwhile in neighboring Washington State, Obama sponsor Governor Christine Gregoire has gone one giant leap further. She recently signed into LAW, a bill that will mandate people to drive 50% less.

Washington State to restrict by 50% the miles residents drive by car

By signing into law the western world’s most draconian greenhouse gas bill, Washington State Governor, Christine Gregoire, took to a whole new level the expression, “Give them an inch and they’ll take a mile,”

Gregoire who was given an inch in 2004 when she was allowed by a deeply entrenched Democrat bureaucracy to find thousands of votes several weeks AFTER losing the Gubernatorial election, has returned the favor by taking away the residents right to drive unlimited miles on the State’s freeways.

By pandering to that bureaucracy and the State’s eco-socialists, Gregoire hopes to be reelected this Fall. That is the only possible explanation why HB 2815 which was rushed through both houses in Olympia by large Democrat majorities, passed the Governor’s line item veto completely unchallenged.

HB 2815 notes, “The legislature finds that Washington has long been a national and international leader on energy conservation and environmental stewardship.”

Because of the State’s self-proclaimed position as guardian of Planet Earth, the new law proclaims, “Using a statewide baseline of seventy-five billion vehicle miles traveled,” ( 1990 usage, excluding freight trucks,) the State “will decrease the annual per capita vehicle miles traveled by eighteen percent by 2020; 35% in 2035 and 50% in 2050”

he Act does not detail enforcement particulars, but sets up a process to finalize the details over the next couple of years. Nor does the bill attempt to quantify the economic disaster it will bring upon business in the state.

The State of Washington has been governed by Democrats since 1984. A 24 year period of increasingly big government bureaucracy has created a hostile business environment resulting in a number of major corporations moving operations and/or HQ out of the State. Most notably this includes the Boeing Corporation which moved it HQ to Illinois in 2001, without even bothering to give notice to Governor Locke.

Why legislate against driving the car? Auto manufacturers are already increasing miles per gallon. Reduction in mobility will be a disaster for business.

How long before Obama passes a similar Federal bill in Washington DC? Maybe he’s lining his pal Gregoire up for an EPA Federal position after she loses her job this November…she’s behind in the polls. After all she claims Washington State is the leader in environmental policy and has already signed into law the model legislation

And like Obama, Gregoire’s a career pol who has absolutely no idea what it is like to run a business in the real world, and therefore has no problem passing legislation that will cripple her State’s economy. Particularly when the effects of her madness will not be felt until she’s left office.

Wonder if the voters in Michigan know about this? Extremely bad news for Washington State’s economic future; catastrophic for auto-producing Michigan…especially when the other 48 States follow suit.

  150. How does one monitor the restriction of miles driven? Will their cars have a lock that will be turned on, after X amount of miles driven? What an insane idea. Why not improve public transportation and improve a car’s gas mileage? I hope she loses her race.

  151. The WA governor and dimocratic congress are prime examples of why our government needs checks and balances. This is a business killer.

  152. Be so funy if Nader did a Perot and cost Obama the election, he’s on the ballot in 45 states, but could make all the difference in Pa.

  153. well…….i wonder, if it may be preparations for banning dissenters any mode of transportation, you know you just don’t want your dissenters to be allowed to travel ….. and coming to the USA soon is the fairness doctrine so we wont have a car to gather together for a protest or a way to voice our dissent with in the obamanation

    smirk! 😉

  154. To the fellow pink pager whom I told that William Ayers was a professor at U of Chicago (private school) and not Univ of Illinois (state School)……..

I was soooo wrong- unless Brian Ross from ABC is wrong – I pinched this from the ABC Blotter this afternoon:

Organizers of the event attempted to stop media coverage by falsely claiming Ayers’ appearance had been canceled.

“Ayers, now a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago,

made no mention of his radical past or Sen. Obama during an hour and a half presentation to a group of about 50 people attending the Harold Clurman Festival of the Arts.”

I apologize. Rant on about his being a Regents’ employee: I agree and support your statement.

  155. Meanwhile in neighboring Washington State, Obama sponsor Governor Christine Gregoire has gone one giant leap further. She recently signed into LAW, a bill that will mandate people to drive 50% less.

Washington State to restrict by 50% the miles residents drive by car

She is not long for her job.

I voted for her the last election. She won by a narrow margin. I told people I would vote for her again not because she was a democrat. Then she did the unforgiveable. She endorsed Obama. The moment I heard that I crossed her name off the book of life. I fully support her Republican opponent-a republican. There are venal sins and mortal sins. Hers was a mortal one.

On another note, found this tidbit at hillbuzz. Evidently BO’s 2001 radio answer all over the web today was in response to
“to a caller who asked about “reparative economic work.

He’s trying to slip it in under the guise of tax cuts or income redistribution. No matter how one feels about spreading the wealth, forcing reparations on the American public without being in the national debate is just wrong!”

BTW – anyone know what happened to CarbyNew? I haven’t seen her posting lately.

  165. Hi, Hillfriends:
Has anyone heard this one yet? The FBI just “today unsealed court records” about a foiled assassination plot – I can’t find when it actually was perpetrated or prosecuted. But the timing for unsealing is curious. Several outlets have released it today:

Folks, something amazing has happened with the RCP piece I posted – it now tops the most voted upon list at RCP. And hundreds of people have outclicked from RCP to the post at Heidi Li’s Potpourri. It seems like this post has helped break through to a new audience.

A thought: if people like the post and keep voting for it – let’s say it receives over 100 votes (something I’ve not seen happen on RCP) – I think we can draw attention to that fact. So please take a look at http://readerarticles.realclearpolitics.com/?period=week

You will see a post entitled “Senator Obama, your silence is dangerous and unforgivable”. If you like the article, which can read by clicking through RCP or going straight to http://tdg.typepad.com/heidi_lis_potpourri/2008/10/senator-obama-your-silence-is-dangerous-and-unforgivable.html
please consider adding your vote. Thank you to those who have already helped by voting and publicizing. Thank you, thank you.

It’s a 2007 New York Times article, in which Obama slipped up when talking to an AP writer.

Obama really isn’t interested in what suburban voters want, either. He just wants their wealth to redistribute to the inner cities.

  172. Just to point out, Hannity was on the Rev Wright thing for an entire year before it caught on. He’s no Hillary fan, she’s a liberal, he’s a conservative. Obama is dangerous.

In the end, it’s not which votes count, it’s who counts the votes.”

The audio recording of Barack Obama espousing his socialist philosophy of “redistribution of wealth” is all over the Internet and Fox News today (although the other media outlets are ignoring it), but there’s another disturbing section on that tape that has so far escaped notice.

The link to the audio is here: Chicago Public Radio – Audio Library: Odyssey.

At about 15:30, Obama compares what was going on in the United States during the time of Brown vs. the Board of Education to … Nazi Germany. Yes, really. Here’s the quote:

“…just to take a, sort of a realist perspective…there’s a lot of change going on outside of the Court, um, that, that judges essentially have to take judicial notice of. I mean you’ve got World War II, you’ve got uh, uh, uh, the doctrines of Nazism, that, that we are fighting against, that start looking uncomfortably similar to what we have going on, back here at home.”

There you have it. America is close to electing a President that compares his own country to Nazi Germany.

Ok, I want to clear my conscious a little. Hopefully you could make a blog post to help some fellow clinton supporters out.

I work for a campaign and can’t wait for this week to be over.

I was doing it for a job. I was not a fan of any candidate but over time grew to love HRC.

The internal campaign idea is to twist, distort, humiliate and finally dispirit you.

We pay people and organize people to go to all the online sites and “play the part of a clinton or mccain supporter who just switched our support for obama”

We do this to stifle your motivation and to destroy your confidence.

We did this the whole primary and it worked.

Sprinkle in mass vote confusion and it becomes bewildering. Most people lose patience and just give up on their support of a candidate and decide to just block out tv, news, websites, etc.

This surprisingly has had a huge suppressing movement and vote turnout issues.

Next, we infiltrate all the blogs and all the youtube videos and overwhelm the voting, the comments, etc. All to continue this appearance of overwhelming world support.

People makes posts to the effect that the world has “gone mad”

Thats the intention. To make you feel stressed and crazy and feel like the world is ending.

We have also had quite a hand in skewing many many polls, some we couldn’t control as much as we would have liked. But many we have spoiled over. Just enough to make real clear politics look scarey to a mccain supporter. Its worked, alough the goal was to appear 13-15 points ahead.

see, the results have been working. People tend to support a winner, go with the flow, become “sheeple”

The polls are roughly 3-5 points in favor of Barack. Thats due to our inflation of the polls and pulling in the sheeple.

Our donors, are the same people who finance the MSM. Their interests are tied, Barack then tends to come across as teflon. Nothing sticks. And trust, there were meetings with Fox news. The goal was to blunt them as much as possible. Watch Bill Oreilly he has become much more diplomatic and “fair and balanced” and soft. Its because he wants to retain the #1 spot on cable news and to do that he has to have access to the Obama campaign and we worked hard at stringing him a long and keeping him soft for an interview swap. It worked and now he is anticipating more access. So he is playing it still soft.

    This is why nothing sticks.

The operation is massive, the goal is to paint a picture that is that of a winner, regardless of the results.

There is no true inauguration draft or true grant park construction going on. There will be a party, but we are boasting beyond the truth to make it seem like the election is wrapped up.

Our goal is to continue to make you lose your moral. We worked hard at persuasion and paying off and timing and playing the right political numbers to get key republican endorsements to make it seem even more like it was over and the world was coming to an end for you all.

There is a huge staff of people working around the clock, watching every site, blogs, etc. We flood these sites. We have had a goal to overwhelm.

The truth is here. I could go on and on, but you get the picture.

I am saying this because I know HRC was better for the country, and now realize this. I was too late by the time I connected to her. To me Barack was just a cool young dude that seemed like a star. I didn’t know him or his policies, but now I understand more than I care to and I realize his interests are more for him, and the DNC and all working like puppets with dean. I always thought a president wanted the better good for the country. The end result I see is everyone dependent on the government, this means more and more people voting for the DNC. This means the future is forever altered. I don’t see this as america, so I am now supporting John Mccain.

Sarah Palin is a huge threat, and our campaign has feared her like you can’t imagine. If it seems unfair how she has been treated, well its because she has had a team working round the clock to make her look like a fool.

this is a big conspiracy and I am so shocked that its not realized.

We released a little blurb the other day that the Obama campaign was already working on reelection and now putting our efforts towards 2012. This was to make it seem like it was above us to continue caring about 2008. Trust me, its a lie. David is very smart, but its a sticky ugly not very truthful kind of intelligence.

Its not over yet, but I think the machine is working. And its a hill to climb.

I will be quitting my post on nov 5th and my vote will be for John Mccain. Fortunately, my position has been a marketing position and I don’t feel I had any part of anything I would feel guilty for. But I look forward to getting out of this as the negativity and environment upsets me.

I wish you all well, and goodluck.

PS my name is not really sarah. but I am a female and I understand your plight.

Election ’08: Barack Obama’s economic blueprint sounds like one his communist father tried to foist on Kenya 40 years ago, with massive taxes and succor shrouded as “investments

As a Nairobi bureaucrat, Barack Hussein Obama Sr. advised the pro-Western Kenyan government there to “redistribute” income through higher taxes. He also demonized corporations and called for massive government “investment” in social programs.
Writing in a 1965 scholarly paper, Obama’s late father slammed the administration of then-President Jomo Kenyatta for moving the Third World country away from socialism toward capitalism. He chafed at the idea of relying on private investors — who earn “dividends” on their venture capital — to develop the country’s fledgling economy.

“What is more important is to find means by which we can redistribute our economic gains to the benefit of all,” said the senior Obama, a Harvard-educated economist. “This is the government’s obligation.” The “means” he had in mind were confiscatory taxes on a scale that redefines the term “progressive taxation.”

Yeah, that sounds a little too much like our own speculations. I’d guess maybe a PUMA wrote it and is posing as an Obama employee.

    turndown. great option.

Since you and I are the only once who are still up, let me tell you what I did tonight. An old friend and I went to a jazz bar downtown. She is a former tango dancer, latin music is in her blood, so they always play some latin music just for her but mostly its dixie land jazz. It is a coronet, clarinet, piano, base and guitar. They have been together for twenty years, and can improvise. They are all white, but all the photos on the wall are of the great jazz musicians are black–billie holiday, duke ellington, nat king cole, dizzie gillespee, fats waller, count basie, sarah vaughn. Its like the Blue Angel in Manhattan in the 50s. The jazz students come there to study but there were not any there tonight. But they had a young musican withe them tonight who was there with his father. He was 17 years old and played the clarinet, so well in fact that he will be playing at Lincoln Center next week. This is the second time I have been there. Last week the atmosphere was free and easy, but this week it was a little tighter why I dont know. My knowledge of jazz is limited to a few songs, and these people are all sophisticates so maybe that is it. I asked them to play a couple songs I know-Careless Love by WC Handy and the Creole Song. They have a big guitar case open in front of them with money in it and the sign reads it is an old new orleans custom to tip. In those situations, convention requires that you neither overtip or undertip, so I sought advice from the regulars. Some said 20 other said 5 so I put 10 in the guitar case and passed the paper with the two songs. The clarinet player got bent out of shape because he saw the note but not the money. The clarinet player saw the money but not the note. Somehow they figure it out after about 20 minutes and one beak. After they played the two songs brilliantly (but what do I know?) they took another break. The cornonet player wandered over to our table and when I complemented him he asked me do you know how much fun it is to stretch two bars out for seven minutes-f-c7-c7-f. Sounds like he wont do The Creole Song for me again. It ties them down when they want to improvise. Do you know anything about this jazz stuff. Its all new to me-but it is better than being insulted by a bot.

It reeks of deception and unsavory characters who should remain on the fringes. It will be dangerous to give them power and legitimize their world view.

We will NOT STAND FOR THIS!

Back in 1997, I was involved with the Green Party in NJ, worked closely with their candidate for Governor, one Madelyn Hoffman, longtime environmental activist, all-around nice person, and a personal friend of mine. Nader took the train up from DC to Princeton, so I got to meet him personally.

Obviously, in 2000, with Gore losing Florida, there was that feeling that Ralph did in the Dems. Funny, I wouldn’t mind if he did an encore performance. Florida again? Perhaps PA. Or those independenty-y states like Minn, Wisc., Wash, OR, NH.

    Media’s Presidential Bias and Decline
Columnist Michael Malone Looks at Slanted Election Coverage and the Reasons Why

    Snip- page 3
    The Presidential Campaign
But nothing, nothing I’ve seen has matched the media bias on display in the current presidential campaign.
Republicans are justifiably foaming at the mouth over the sheer one-sidedness of the press coverage of the two candidates and their running mates. But in the last few days, even Democrats, who have been gloating over the pass — no, make that shameless support — they’ve gotten from the press, are starting to get uncomfortable as they realize that no one wins in the long run when we don’t have a free and fair press.

I was one of the first people in the traditional media to call for the firing of Dan Rather — not because of his phony story, but because he refused to admit his mistake — but, bless him, even Gunga Dan thinks the media is one-sided in this election.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not one of those people who think the media has been too hard on, say, Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin, by rushing reportorial SWAT teams to her home state of Alaska to rifle through her garbage. This is the big leagues, and if she wants to suit up and take the field, then Gov. Palin better be ready to play.
The few instances where I think the press has gone too far — such as the Times reporter talking to prospective first lady Cindy McCain’s daughter’s MySpace friends — can easily be solved with a few newsroom smackdowns and temporary repostings to the Omaha bureau.

Engaging them and presenting ideas to them is certainly a good way to influence people, as compared to, say, “get in their face and argue with them”. Brilliant, Barack, brilliant.

Investors Flee From ‘Change’ Obama Hypes

By JACK KEMP AND PETER FERRARA | Posted Monday, October 27, 2008 4:30 PM PT

Are Barack Obama’s proposed tax increases adversely affecting our financial markets? We say yes, unambiguously. The senator has done a masterful job distracting attention from his tax increases with his $500-per-worker tax credit supposedly for 95% of Americans.

Obama has also set forth more than half a dozen additional refundable income tax credits targeted to low- and moderate-income workers for child care, education, housing, welfare, retirement, health care and other social purposes.

These tax credits are devised to phase-out based on income, which will ultimately increase marginal income tax rates for middle-class workers. In other words, as you earn more, you suffer a penalty in the phase-out of these credits, which has the exact effect of a marginal tax rate increase. That harms, rather than improves, the economy.

With the bottom 40% of income earners not paying any federal income taxes, such tax credits would not reduce any tax liability for these workers. Instead, since they’re refundable, they would involve new checks from the federal government.

These are not tax cuts as Obama is promising. They are new government spending programs buried in the tax code and estimated to cost $1.3 trillion over 10 years.

Obama argues that while these workers do not pay income taxes, they do pay payroll taxes. True, but his planned credits do not involve cuts in payroll taxes. They are refundable income tax credits designed to redistribute income and “spread the wealth.”

Meantime, Obama has proposed effective tax increases of 20% or more in the two top income-tax rates, phasing out the personal exemptions and all itemized deductions for top earners, as well as raising their tax rates.

He wants a 33% increase in the tax rates on capital gains and dividends, an increase of 16% to 32% in the top payroll tax rate, reinstatement of the death tax with a 45% top rate, and a new payroll tax on employers estimated at 7% to help finance his health insurance plan. He’s also contending for higher tariffs under his protectionist policies.

Finally, he would increase corporate taxes by 25%, though American businesses already face the second-highest marginal tax rates in the industrialized world, thus directly harming manufacturing and job creation while weakening demand for the dollar.

Obama argues disingenuously that his tax increases would only affect higher-income workers and “corporate fat cats.” But it is precisely these top marginal tax rates that control incentives for savings, investment, entrepreneurship, business expansion, jobs and economic growth. While he wants to tax the rich, the burden will fall on the poor and the middle class.

In their new book, “The End of Prosperity,” Art Laffer, Steve Moore and Peter Tanous argue that the threat of this tax tsunami is already destabilizing our financial markets and causing capital flight from America.

They write, “Hot capital is escaping over the borders out of the United States and flowing into China, India, Europe, and even Japan. . . Starting in late 2007, foreigners started pulling their money out of the United States, and Americans started investing more abroad. Global investors are losing confidence in the U.S.”

The American economy was in shambles when Reagan entered office in 1981. Inflation had soared by 25% over the prior two years, unemployment was heading toward 10%, the prime interest rate hit 21%, poverty was on a 33% upswing and real family income had decreased by almost 10% due to the stagflation of the late 1970s.

Reagan cut the top income-tax rate from 70% to 50%, adopted an additional 25% across-the-board rate cut and sliced capital gains taxes in half. The 1986 tax reform left us with just two tax rates of 15% and 28%. Reagan slashed spending growth, lowered tariffs, reduced regulatory burdens and promoted anti-inflation monetary policies.

The result, the authors explain, was actually a 25-year, noninflationary economic boom, with only two brief, mild recessions in 1990 and 2001. “We call this period, 1982-2007, the 25-year boom — the greatest period of wealth creation in the history of the planet,” they write. “Adjusting for inflation, more wealth was created in America in the 25-year boom than in the previous 200 years.”

By 1989, the economy had grown by almost one-third, the equivalent of adding the entire economy of West Germany to our U.S. economy. In 1984 alone, real economic growth boomed by 6.8%, the highest in 50 years. Nearly 20 million new jobs were created in the 1980s, increasing U.S. civilian employment by almost 20%. Unemployment fell to 5.3% by 1989.

Spectacularly, inflation was slashed to 3.2% by 1983. The prime rate fell to 6.25% by 1992, even though opponents had argued that Reagan’s tax cuts would increase interest rates. Family income reversed its decline, poverty reversed its rise and tax revenues actually doubled.

This is the “Change We Need” today.

I live in one of the outlying suburbs in Il and they black teachers ask my grandchildren whom are you parents or grandparents since they live with my husband and myself and one of them told them that I was supporting Mccain so they asked them if they could vote whom would they support and she said Mccain since I was supporting him and the teacher was shocked. I actually had to explain to my child not to discuss politics in school and never discuss what we beleive in within our home.

Think the media is starting to get nervous?
Politico has several posts about media bias today.

    This from CNN:

That Obama and Democrats haven’t done more to denounce ACORN’s acts as fervently as they have “voter intimidation and suppression” complaints against Republicans is beyond puzzling. It smacks of a double standard.

Voter fraud is just as egregious as suppression, as it is an assault that undermines the integrity of our voting system. Obama should be held to a higher standard.

He is running for the highest office in our country — and not only has he performed legal work for this group, but his campaign paid an ACORN affiliate more than $800,000 for “get-out-the-vote-efforts,” and has received the endorsement of ACORN’s political action committee.

CNN’s John King Excoriates His Colleagues on Biased, Whining and Out-of-Touch Election Coverage
    By Ani

John King, CNN’s chief political correspondent, said CNN’s obsession with Hillary caused them to ignore any vetting or ‘thorough investigation’ of Obama, among other things.

Gee, John, thanks for telling us what we’ve known since February. A day late and a dollar short, wouldn’t you say? We have been shouting from the highest hill about the horrible bias endured first by Senator Clinton and now by McCain/Palin and a week before the election, you decide to finally say something?

I am further offended that Mr. King seems to think that because so-called journalists were “obsessed with Hillary,” they could not multi-task and simultaneously vet Obama. And how were they obsessed with her exactly? He does not say. Perhaps because he does not want to say they these sexist arses were obsessed with destroying her candidacy any way they could. Fawning mindlessly over Senator Obama surely was a clear path to accomplishing that goal.

Two things must be operating here – one, King is trying to save some of his own credibility before the election actually plays out; and two, he knows how CNN’s ratings are tanking and is looking to do damage control. Despite the media’s contention that we are just as in love with Obama as they are – the reality of their falling Neilsen numbers tells a very different story.

CNN of course in not the only culprit here – and they are also not the only ones paying the price in terms of their bottom line. MSNBC’s ratings have likewise tanked, otherwise Matthews and Olbermann would not have been demoted from doing any election coverage.

The LA Times currently has damaging video linking Al Khalidi and Obama and they are refusing to release it. Coincidentally, the LA Times is also tanking and laying off workers. They have also been trumpeting Senator Obama since the beginning.

The NYTimes revenue plunged a whopping 50%, ad revenue collapsed by double digits, and NYT’s debt has just been rated “below investment grade” — or what is known in the investment business as “junk” — by the Standard & Poor’s bond-rating agency. Guess we no longer consider them the paper of record.

Looks like everybody’s chickens are coming home to roost.

Jeff Poor of BMI reports on CNN’s King: ‘Whining’ Media ‘Out of Touch’ on Election Coverage:

You know media bias has reached epic proportions when journalists are criticizing their own colleagues for a lack of professionalism in covering Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama and Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin….In an interview with South Carolina ETV set to air on “The Big Picture” Oct. 30, CNN chief national correspondent John King criticized his colleagues’ coverage of not only Obama and Palin, but the overall election.

    In King’s words:

“I think there’s some very legitimate criticism that we did not treat all of the candidates in the Democratic race, but particularly the top two or three equally, because of the Clinton obsession in the national media,” King told host Mark Quinn. “It is a very fair point. We need to learn that lesson.”

King also accused the media of not adapting to the digital age. According to the CNN correspondent, the electorate has the ability to decouple themselves from the mainstream media and seek out information on the candidates without them.

“Once you move on from there – I do think that some of the criticism is justified. I think some of the criticism not so justified in that we have to adapt to the world we live in,” King said. “And the technology explosion has given people, voters, individuals an amazing opportunity. They can learn everything they want to learn about these candidates without us.”

And we have learned plenty without the likes of you, John. We have also learned plenty that is accurate and provable without the likes of Wolf Blitzer, Campbell Brown or the other Obama sycophants out there. How nice of John to notice. The internet is now officially the fifth estate, since the fourth estate doesn’t see fit to do its job.

King also criticized the media’s “whining” about limited access to Palin. “NBC Nightly News” anchor Brian Williams complained to NBC “Today” host Matt Lauer on Oct. 23 for having to wait 55 days for a Palin interview.

“Part of that is, may be legitimate,” King said of complaints the media treated Palin unfairly. “Part of that is may be how the McCain campaign put her out there. We whine too much sometimes. If the McCain campaign doesn’t want to make Sarah Palin available for interviews – OK, just say they won’t make her available for interviews. We don’t have to jump up and down and scream and cry about that … It’s not our job to whine or complain.”

King said journalists failed to go beyond the Washington-New York corridor to cover the election, proclaiming they were “out of touch” with the majority of voters.

You bet they are out of touch. The media is functioning as an elite group, deigning to offer only the news they think we need to know – instead of reporting the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help them God. King points out that his colleagues and bosses at CNN (and arguably elsewhere) are, just as the elites in the Democratic Party, breathing a rarified air, paying no attention to the needs of the American people.

“There is – I say this all the time and many in my business disagree with me, but one of the things I love about what I do is I travel,” King said. “And there are a lot of people who sit – they’re wonderful people. They’re well-intentioned, don’t get me wrong, but they sit in New York or Washington and they don’t come to South Carolina or North Carolina or Ohio or any other swing state out here and actually talk to human beings or watch what it’s like to stand outside of a factory that just shut down with people.”

According to King, the problem with the media coverage was they were too influenced by their surroundings and that changed their world view.

“And so their attitudes are influenced by the fact that they live in Washington or New York and they don’t travel enough,” King said. “And the criticism is that makes them elitist. I would just say sometimes there are some people who are very influential in our business who are somewhat out of touch.”

King also finds time to criticize McCain saying he should make his candidacy more about the economy and not about the Obama character question. Gee, John, funny, I thought that’s what he was and is doing.

“They thought this would be an election about Barack Obama’s character,” King said. “Sure Barack Obama has the advantage. The Democrats have the advantage this year. They thought they could make it about ‘he’s new, he’s left of center, you don’t know this guy; you can’t trust this guy.’”

“But the economic concerns have magnified,” King said. “We always knew the economy would be the number one issue, but it is number one, two, three, four, five and six because of all the different pressures – Wall Street bailouts, loss of jobs, economic anxiety, health care pressures, the price of energy. McCain’s argument seems smaller to many people in a big election about the economy.”

This is nonsense. If McCain wanted to travel the path of Obama’s character and nefarious associations there is a helluva lot more that he could have attacked Obama on. He is choosing the high road and trying to talk about the issues. This is the one place where I find King to be disingenuous. On the one hand, he is criticizing his colleagues for being out of touch, which they are, and on the other hand, he is parroting the same ridiculous talking points that McCain is ‘struggling in the polls’ because he is not making the economy a big enough issue. Still sucking a little koolaid – eh, John? Obama over polls – you yourself have noticed that when doing election night coverage. Did you conveniently forget that fact for this interview? Joe the Plumber and the newly discovered Obama ’socialist/redistributive change’ audio tapes from 2001 are surely a game changer, as is Sarah Palin.

John King’s statement are way late, but it’s a start; still enough time for the media to turn en masse this next week and tell the truth about a thoroughly unqualified, even dangerous candidate.

    Yeah. Okay. Sure.

    We’re waiting…

I rather wait for a Harold Ford, too. Don’t know a whole lot about him but I am usually impressed whenever I do see him on TV. Why did he lose?

Why did he lose he got ambushed by some really bad racist tactics in TN they made some horrible ads that they ran but it was a black white thing but dont get me wrong he does not cry about nor complain he just moved on nor does he point the finger he took it on the chin and moved on Obama is not have the man Harold Ford Jr is because you have not heard anything about the tactics that were used Don Imus was one his biggest supporters and he used to talk about the tactics that the Dem party in TN used to beat him I guess the fear of politics. It was pretty bad thou.

  234. Why did he lose?

Because TN is a red state. But the bigger picture is how incredibly successful he was here. Harold was absolutely fearless. Advisors would tell him not to waste his time in certain areas, and Harold would say nope! I’m going to let EVERYONE get to know me! And he’d go anywhere and everywhere…and win people over.

What I love about Ford is that he never pitted people against people…I don’t think he saw the world in an “us vs them” sort of way. He just felt like if people weren’t voting for him, it was because they didn’t know him yet. 🙂

  236. um, Idunn,

That may be true of Ford, but the “they aren’t voting for me because they don’t know me yet” is still being used by those idiot Obama cheerleaders as another reason people aren’t voting for their idiot messiah.

  237. This photo is great. An African-American man holding up a sign at a McCain rally in Virginia.

Sign says “Hello. My Name is Joe the Plumber…and yes, we are related. We Are American!”

Then in smaller writing on his sign, it says “Laughing at his dreams, you’re laughing at mine, too”.

    The picture is priceless.

  238. That may be true of Ford, but the “they aren’t voting for me because they don’t know me yet” is still being used by those idiot Obama cheerleaders as another reason people aren’t voting for their idiot messiah.

But the difference is that Obama is a blank slate…Ford wasn’t. He had VERY specific goals and ideas. He just needed for those ideas to be heard by people who his foolish advisors had already written off. Ford just said, “Nope. We’re not writing ANYONE off.” 🙂

All of the speculation about who will be elected will be put to rest by the vote of the people. There is one poll which is highly significant, and that is the attitude of various groups towards free speech. According to an article in World Net Daily, a Zogby ATI poll has extensively studied the attitudes of various groups towards free speech and found that “Supporters of Barack Obama like the idea of a “Fairness Doctrine” that would crack down on talk shows like those of Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh, and their enthusiasm grows when the idea of taking the radio icons off the air is introduced.”

According to ATI News President Brad O’Leary,“Barack Obama has shown a stunning lack of tolerance for free speech throughout the course of this campaign.” He additionally warned that a large Democratic majority and a Democratic President would make the passing of a fairness doctrine a strong likelihood.

According to the poll, Democrats, Obama supporters and independents all support the idea of a ‘fairness doctrine”. But when it is explained that Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity could be taken off the air, then the opinions of the groups polled diverges radically. Obama supporters actually increase their support for such a specific outcome from 49-36% in favour to 53-37% in favour. Other groups polled reduce their support radically for a fairness doctrine when the issue of Limbaugh and Hannity going off the air is raised.

According to the poll, when the issue of Hannity and Limbaugh being fired was raised,”independent voters opposed the doctrine 49 to 40 percent and undecided voters rejected it 50 to 17 percent“.

According to the WND article, “The doctrine was instituted in 1949 by the Federal Communications Commission and soon was recognized as a tool for silencing views authorities found objectionable. The FCC repealed the rule in 1987 after admitting the plan “had the net effect of reducing rather than enhancing the discussion of controversial issues of public importance.”

The article mentions several tactics employed by the Obama campaign to suppress dissent. Among them “Obama forces also tried to hush a national organization that ran TV and radio ads attacking the candidate’s position on an issue. In that instance, Obama’s general counsel fired off a letter threatening the licenses of stations that didn’t pull the ad “for the sake of FCC licensing and the public interest.”

When “Joe the Plumber” questioned Obama about his plan to raise taxes on small businesses, Obama supporters sought to destroy Joe and publicly embarrass him by digging through his tax files, work history and personal life.

Can you imagine what an Obama administration would do with the FBI and the IRS at its disposal?

The Obama campaign and its supporters have not supported the “fairness doctrine as an isolated position on their agenda. They have made it a part of a broad strategy to put down dissent. This is one promise upon which they have delivered before the election.

On November 4, you will be invited to radically curtail your free speech and access to varied opinions. If you favour this agenda, all you have to do is to vote for barack Obama. Is this what you want?

Okay all, here’s my vent! I just had a lady and her mother in the store. The daughter was from Alaska. OMG, she drank the fuckin’ koolaid! I debated her for 20 minutes on why Obama is not suited for POTUS.

Do you know what she said….he had integrity! WTF. I mean WTF! I brought up everything I could, all his past relations with Ayers, Rezko, Acorn, on and on and on….REV WRIGHT! She’s never heard of Rev. Wright! WTF again! Never heard of him? I told her that BO was poisoned by him for 20 years. She just fluffed it off. I wanted to reach across my counter and shove my computer in her lap!

I told her she needed to get educated about these “friends” of BO. I am fighting mad that these people can be so stupid! She said she wasn’t voting for Palin cuz she hunted from the air and she tried to ban books from the library. I told her that the book banning was false and she needed to read about it and the airborne deer hunting, geez, stand in a tree here and your airborne.

She was a case for detox! Then she brought up Cindy McCain and pills….boom, I brought up BO and cocaine and pot! She said to me, “well, everyone tries that in their life” and I said to her, “NOT ME”, not EVER!

What makes these frootloops tick? OMG, thank God she left!

This post is for the Obama followers. Whether you are an Obamacan( a weak Republican supporter of Obama) or just an every day Democratic supporter, this post is for you. As we approach the final week before Election Day, I thought it was important to bring to light some facts you may have glossed over as you prepare to cast your ballot. There are some important issues that the Obama Campaign has been deceiving you on and this post is simply designed to bring them to light. It’s important to be fully informed before you vote, if after reading this you still wish to vote for Obama that’s fine by me. But if Obama is elected and you are unhappy with the result because it is not what Obama promised you, you have been forewarned and the fault is your own.

If You Are Making 50,000 Or More A Year, Obama Is Raising Your Taxes- So, not quite the 250,000 your guy promised is it? You see, what he wont tell you is that by rolling back Bush’s tax cuts, it is a defacto tax increase. American Thinker has a helpful table for you to look at:

  246. Obama Team Directs Dirty Tricks: Just Make it Up!

    maggiesnotebook.blogspot.com/2008/10/obama-team-directs-dirty-tricks-just.html

Amanda Carpenter, writing for Townhall.com on Oct. 27th exposes the release of a Democrat “playbook” of dirty tricks:
Documents obtained by Townhall show the Democratic Party encouraged party activists to accuse the GOP of intimidating minorities on Election Day even if no evidence of intimidation existed in the 2004 presidential election. The tactic is being used again in 2008, this time to downplay fraud charges against a predominantly minority non-profit supporting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The Obama campaign has been busily probing the festering issue of voter suppression. Obama Camp Charges… a Partisan Plot,” the Wall Street Journal reports on October 17th:

The Obama campaign charged Friday that John McCain, in concert with the Bush administration, has embarked on a studied effort to disrupt Election Day in many states and suppress the vote.

Carpenter describes nine pages of a former Kerry-Edwards handbook titled Minority Voter Intimidation. After instructions on how to recognize “intimidation,” the manual moves on to what to do if you don’t find any intimidation:

If no signs of intimidation techniques have emerged yet, launch a ‘pre-emptive strike.” The manual said this should be done by placing stories in mainstream and specialty press “in which minority leadership expresses concern about the threat of intimidation tactics” and “prime minority leadership to discuss the issue in the media; provide talking points.”

Some of the suggested talking points included lines like “Nothing is more despicable than trying to deprive any American of the previous right to vote, the foundation of our democracy for which so many have sacrificed.”

Well, you’re probably saying, this was back in the Kerry-Bush election…nothing to do with today – well, you would be wrong, according to Ms. Carpenter:

The Democrats’ preemptive strike has been delivered from Barack Obama’s legal team this time around.

Nevermind all that. The Obama legal team has once again leaned on the Department of Justice to get the McCain campaign straightened out. Obama attorney Robert Bauer accuses “agents of the McCain campaign and the Republican National Committee of:

…striking locally at election officials and boards around the country, sowing confusion and seeking through baseless legal maneuvers…

and specifically, Obama et al takes offense at this:

McCain’s remarks that ACORN’s voter registration fraud “threatens the fabric of our Democracy” and Palin’s assessment that there is a “choice between a candidate who won’t disavow a group committing voter fraud and a leader who won’t tolerate voter fraud.”

Carpenter reports that former U.S. Senators Danforth and Rudman are heading-up a committee on behalf of the McCain campaign to “take action against voter fraud. The GOP, reportedly, has asked Obama 08 to participate, no surprise: “the Democrats had declined.”

He’s not yet POTUS and he’s already beginning the investigations of private citizens for daring to ask tough questions of the Democrat messiah.
Obama Begins Suppression of the Media—and more

By Sher Zieve Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Even before the 2008 US presidential elections Barack Obama, his campaign and supporters have begun their constraint of the press. Chillingly, the leftist Obama media—which includes all of the usual suspects both print and television—are not only going along with it but, have begun their own investigations and vilifications of their colleagues who have refused to drink the Obama Kool-Aid. Obama’s latest victim is Investigative Reporter Barbara West of Orlando’s WFTV who asked Democrat VP Candidate Joe Biden some probing questions; questions that had, prior to that, not been asked of either the secular messiah Obama or his vice prophet.

West asked questions about Obama’s relationships with voter fraud group ACORN—relationships that have been well-documented in my previous columns. In answering the ACORN questions Biden lied a number of times, including his saying that the Obama-Biden campaign had no ties to ACORN and that it and Obama had contributed no money to the group. Note: I guess that Biden is ‘so-one-of-the-rich-elite’ that he doesn’t believe $832,000 contributed by the Obama campaign to ACORN front group Citizens Services, Inc. amounts to a contribution. This is yet another fact that the almost all-encompassing Obama press failed to bring to the public.

Then, West asked him about Obama’s answer to Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher (AKA “Joe the Plumber”) about “spreading the wealth” and questioned Biden about the answer’s implication of Marxism. Biden then became angered and began to ask such condescending questions as “Is that a real question” and “who writes your questions [for you]?” Note: Obama’s comment “spreading the wealth” and Founder of Communism Karl Marx’s “redistribution of wealth” are one in the same. There is additional evidence in an Obama interview to NPR advising that not only does Obama believe in this Marxist ideology but, was “disappointed” that the US Supreme Court did not tackle it. One can only surmise from that comment that he meant by legislating from the bench. Further, in the 1990s Obama was a member of the New Socialist Party—card carrying and everything! The Obama media has also failed to report this—or anything else—that could damage their candidate.

For her questions, West—who worked with Peter Jennings (hardly a conservative) for years—has been told by the Obama campaign that neither she nor her TV station will have any additional access to the Democrat candidate (frozen out) and is now being investigated by the Obama media in order to dig up dirt on her and members of her family. Leftist Fox News contributor and Obama-supporter Bob Beckel—also angered by West’s questions—said “she’s not going anywhere” and implied that her career is over. By the way, after Joe the Plumber asked the question that elicited Obama’s “spread the wealth” comment, an Ohio state investigation—by a Democrat and Obama-supporting official—began. Illegal or not, it’s being done and will continue.

Obama’s “Truth Squads” are already in place. These appear to have begun in Missouri but, Democrat Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell has also formed a chapter. This is intimidation waged against US citizens under the color of authority.

This is just the beginning, folks. Obama is showing us—heck he’s shouting to us—what his administration will be like. He’s not yet POTUS and he’s already beginning the investigations of private citizens for daring to ask tough questions of the Democrat messiah. This is aptly and correctly called Stalinistic tactics.

If you think you’ll be able to vote this guy Obama out of office in 4 years, think again. Citizens living in the old—now being resurrected—Soviet Union probably thought the same thing.

  258. Obama’s 2007 Senate Floor Commitment to an `Egalitarian Society’
By Marinka Peschmann, Special to Canada Free Press

Obama Supporters Never Heard of Socialism
By JB Williams Tuesday, October 28, 2008

In response to increasing efforts by local market journalists to ask the questions the national media refuse to ask, Barack Obama and Joe Biden are growing furious at news reporters who have the audacity to label Obama’s socialist “wealth redistribution” campaign as “socialism”…
Obama and Biden’s entire campaign is based upon government confiscation and re-distribution of private earned wealth, -“over-taxing those according to their ability; and redistributing confiscated wealth according to politically motivated deceptions of need…”
Karl Marx, the father of “SOCIALISM” explained exactly what socialism is…
“From each, according to his ability; to each, according to his need.”
According to Marx, the father of socialism, this is the definition of socialism! Yet Obama and Biden stand bold faced and proclaim before the world that they are not selling socialism. The world knows what they are selling. But many Obama supporters don’t know and don’t seem to care.
Is it possible that many Americans have never heard of socialism before?
The Power of the Useful Idiot
If you don’t know what socialism is, or what the founding American principles and values are for that matter, then you are in no position to protect and defend the United States of America from an enemy within.
When you are selling freedom and liberty down the river in exchange for central political power, it’s best to restrict your audience to only poor, ill-educated or well-indoctrinated constituents. True patriots of freedom can smell a rat from halfway around the globe.
In recent months I have received tons of reader mail from young leftist ideologues cheering the end of American capitalism and clamoring for a new age of socialist change. It’s as if they have been brainwashed by Castro and Chavez to believe in some kinder-gentler form of tyranny.
But I have also received reader mail from self-styled “conservatives” who can’t tell the difference between unbridled socialism and moral social conscience. One seeks to empower the politician; the other seeks to care for those unable to care for themselves.
Blissful ignorance is a powerful tool for anyone willing to exploit it for their own agenda. In this case, democracy may indeed be the road to socialism. The American people do have the power to trade individual freedom for socialism, if they so desire. The democratic process can be used either to preserve or to destroy.
    Exploiting the Weak and well-Indoctrinated
“For the bureaucrat, the world is a mere object to be manipulated by him.” Karl Marx
Most Americans would choose a bullet in the head over communism, if that were the only choices available. So, the trick is to manipulate Americans into thinking they have another option.
The Democratic Socialists of America was formed as a spin-off of the Socialist Party USA for the stated purpose of working from inside the Democrat Party through its legislative arm, the Progressive Congressional Caucus, which now has more than sixty members seated in congress, all of whom played a significant roll in causing the current financial crisis.

I had my “this one is for you” Hillary shirt on with all my Hillary buttons attached, my red hat with McCain’Palin badges and little American flags on it. I held my sign that said, “JUST SAY IT AIN’T SO JOE, THAT RE-PO-BO AND THE DEMS BEAT UP ON GIRLS! [and a graphic of Hillary’s face, all beat up and bruised] STOP THE SEXISM AND MISOGYNY TOWARD WOMEN! A FORMER HILLARY CLINTON SUPPORTER WHO IS NOW FOR McCAIN/PALIN.
Every car [most only had one or two people in them] read my sign, there were an unbelievable number of them that honked, waved, and gave us a thumbs up. One guy in a truck said he was a JOE THE PLUMBER. The police motorcycle security entourage that had a huuuuuge number of motorcyle riders in it must have been for McCain because we got toots, revved motors, thumbs up, and waves from many of them who were on their way to a Biden rally.
The Biden entourage were escorted down the opposing lanes to traffic and I went to that side of the highway and held my sign.
Obama supporters said things like: She’s fool’s gold, down with McCain [to which I said vote for Obama and let him spread the wealth around I need the money] she replied I already voted for Obama, some shool their heads, some gave a thumbs down, some shoulted Obama [to which I shouted, nObama]. It was cold and windy but it was so invigorating.
Then back at Repub hdqters, there was a press conference and one of the local tv stations interviewed me [as an Independent who was for Hillary and now for McCain/Palin] so I guess I may be on the 5:30 pm news. I have it set to record.
I told all of them at hdqtrs what all we Hillary supporters were doing for McCain/Palin. I told them I called it McPalin. And I will be out with others waving signs on a busy street later in the week.
What is everybody else doing? I have got to read the posts and get caught up, just glancing looks like there might be news breaking.
Soldier on, we are strong, and we are in numbers too big to ignore, but the nObama camp is doing a good job when I see that 99.1% of all Hillary supporters are now onboard for nObama.

  266. Funny I have had the same thought

Absentee-ballot requests at 1.46 million and counting
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – A federal judge in Ohio has ruled that counties must allow homeless voters to list park benches and other locations that aren’t buildings as their addresses.
U.S. District Judge Edmund Sargus also ruled that provisional ballots can’t be invalidated because of poll worker errors.
Monday’s ruling resolved the final two pieces of a settlement between the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless and Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner.
The coalition agreed to drop a constitutional challenge to Ohio’s voter identification law until after the Nov. 4 election. In return, Brunner and the coalition agreed on procedures to verify provisional ballots across all Ohio counties.
The coalition was concerned that unequal treatment of provisional ballots would disenfranchise some voters.

More “Obama by a mile” funny polls. If people don’t want to get attacked or heckled for supporting McCain, they may just wish to say “No comment”, and their voice will be heard in the voting booth.

    ‘Obama Wins!,’ newspaper declares
From CNN Chief National Correspondent John King
One New Mexico paper has declared Obama the next president.

SANTA FE, New Mexico (CNN) – For The New Mexico Sun News it is either a major scoop or “Dewey Beats Truman” déjà vu 60 years later.
“Obama Wins!” is the headline of the edition on newsstands now, complete with “special collector’s edition” in red bold typeface.
The Sun News is a bi-monthly newspaper and its Oct 26-Nov 8 issue had to hit the streets, and the newsstands, before the election. So the editors decided to make a leap of faith and declare Democrat Barack Obama the winner.
In an article explaining their choice, the editors unabashedly wrote, “When it comes to calling the winner of a presidential election, everyone wants to be first. The New Mexico Sun News hereby claims that achievement.”

“A Story About a Man Applying for a Job” (scroll down a bit to see it). It’s a cleverly written piece which imagines… what if BO was applying to a job in a large corporation with all his shady history, ties, paper-thin resume, etc…
This needs to be copied pasted and sent it to a few friends in swing states. It makes a great viral email.

PUMAs roaring at Trailblazers this morning

    h t t p : / / trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/10/pumas-roaring-at-trailblazers.html

I’ve been getting a pretty hefty response to a story I wrote in today’s paper that looked back on the PUMA movement (People United Means Action, or Party Unity My ****) and what they’ve been up to lately.
    ….
The main point of the story was that promises of cohesive and disruptive action by PUMA, both during and after the convention, doesn’t seem to have materialized

    ….

Obviously, in a group that comprises so many – 20 percent of 18 million, presumably – it’s pretty difficult to reach everyone. As a result, they reached me. Here’s what some of their emails said:

Polling numbers: Just Received Word From An Insider … From The Other Side By Mark Harvey Monday, October 27, 2008

    WOOT WOOT WOOT
I have known this for quite some time but for some reason, people are insanely and unhealthily attached to the crapolla from pollsters. Without giving too much away…
[…] she said the results of their polling lead her to believe that McCain will definitely win FL, OH, NC, MO and NV. She says Obama definitely wins New Mexico. She said that Colorado and New Hampshire were absolute dead heats. She said she thinks there is a 55% chance Obama holds on in Pennsylvania and a 75% chance McCain wins Virginia […]
[…] She absolutely laughed at the public polls showing Obama leading Virginia–and pointed out that all of those polls rely on Dem turnout being +4 and as much as +7, when in 2006, Republicans actually had the advantage by +3. She also pointed out that the numbers for Obama in SWVA look absolutely awful and that McCain is running 10 points better then Allen did in NoVa.
Anyway, her companies conclusion is that the election will come down to Colorado, New Hampshire and the Republican leaning district in Maine, which in her opinion might very well decide the Presidency (apparently the district in Nebraska that Obama thought he might be able to get is now off the table). She said she has very little doubt that the public polling is part of a “concerted voter suppression effort” by the MSM. She said IBD/TIPP was the only outfit doing public polling that was “worth a bucket of warm pxxs”. […]
Now, one doesn’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure all of this out and I would like to say something as definitively, honestly and succinctly as I possibly can…are you ready?

  275. I voted today in Tampa. In the parking lot, probably about 50 feet from the entrance, there was a guy with a clipboard and an Obama tshirt on. I am assuming he is an ACORN worker. Is this legal????

A Town Meeting on Economic Insecurity:
Employment and Survival in Urban America
    By Bob Roman
    New Ground 45
    March – April, 1996

    Snip-
Barack Obama observed that Martin Luther King’s March on Washington in the 1960s wasn’t simply about civil rights but demanded jobs as well. Now the issue is again coming to the front, but he wished the issue was on the Democratic agenda not just on Buchanan’s.
One of the themes that has emerged in Barack Obama’s campaign is “what does it take to create productive communities”, not just consumptive communities. It is an issue that joins some of the best instincts of the conservatives with the better instincts of the left. He felt the state government has three constructive roles to play.
The first is “human capital development”. By this he meant public education, welfare reform, and a “workforce preparation strategy”. Public education requires equality in funding. It’s not that money is the only solution to public education’s problems but it’s a start toward a solution. The current proposals for welfare reform are intended to eliminate welfare but it’s also true that the status quo is not tenable. A true welfare system would provide for medical care, child care and job training. While Barack Obama did not use this term, it sounded very much like the “social wage” approach used by many social democratic labor parties. By “workforce preparation strategy”, Barack Obama simply meant a coordinated, purposeful program of job training instead of the ad hoc, fragmented approach used by the State of Illinois today.
The state government can also play a role in redistribution, the allocation of wages and jobs. As Barack Obama noted, when someone gets paid $10 million to eliminate 4,000 jobs, the voters in his district know this is an issue of power not economics. The government can use as tools labor law reform, public works and contracts.

Here’s what Obama had to say at “A Town Meeting on Economic Insecurity: Employment and Survival in Urban America” on February 25, 1996 in Chicago (bullets added by me for clarity, bold is mine):

  277. Thanks, rjk, I was trying to find out how they got such a ridiculously skewed result.

A legend in his own mind.

  279. This is what I don’t get. Media including Fox keep touting the polls as going in the monster’s direction but turn a blind eye to the distorted sampling. I wonder why Hannity at least doesn’t push this issue more.

  280. So I guess O’s buses will be out enmasse on election day to skewer the votes. I really really hope that McCain’s people have a brilliant GOTV on election day as well.

  285. The Toledo Police Department confirms that one of its records clerks has been charged with performing an unlawful search of Joe The Plumber’s records.

That makes two Ohio government employees identified in the snooping case. (Obama donor Helen Jones-Kelly, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, approved a separate search. More are being investigated.)

  286. Ohio voting is a joke. Since when does a park bench qualify as an acceptable address. I wonder, if bridges or underground sewers count. what a mockery of our voting system.

  287. Two areas down on the investigation for data base illegal search, and one more to go.

How many people is O going to have to pardon right after he is elected?

    Sorry, I could not resist.
