Barack Obama’s Dirty Campaign Against John McCain

Update: McCain focuses on the economy while Obama/Biden continue smears:

———————————————————–

Years ago, in March of 2004, Keith Olbermann searched around the Maritime Hotel for the entrance to the Air America launch party. Eventually the proper entrance was found and we all walked in. The future of the Democratic Party was beyond the doors. Democrats would have a broadcast voice to compete with the right wing outlets. Practically the entire galaxy of left wing stars was at that launch party. Afterwards Al Franken went home but Randi Rhodes and the other stars of Air America dined on expensive pizza and wine in the restaurant upstairs.

Those glory days are long gone. A Hopium addiction madness has seized our former compatriots and what poses as the Democratic Party. Most, if not all, of that galaxy of stars from 2004 and almost the entire unDemocratic Party is now part of the Obama mud machine.

* * *

The Obama campaign aired in America a vile advertisement which slimes injured war veterans (see the ad HERE). The advertisment attacked John McCain because he does not use email. ABC News investigated the claim:

“1982, John McCain goes to Washington,” the narrator says. “Things have changed in the last 26 years, but McCain hasn’t. He admits he still doesn’t know how to use a computer, can’t send an e-mail, still doesn’t understand the economy, and favors two hundred billion in new tax cuts for corporations, but almost nothing for the middle class. After one president who was out of touch, we just can’t afford more of the same.” [snip]

McCain did once describe himself as computer “illiterate” and dependent upon his wife for computer assistance, but there’s more to the tale than that.

Assuredly McCain isn’t comfortable talking about this — and the McCain campaign discouraged me from writing about this — but the reason the aged Arizonan doesn’t use a computer or send email is because of his war wounds.

I realize some of the nastier liberals in the blogosphere will see this as McCain once again “playing the POW card,” but it’s simply a fact: typing on a regular keyboard for any sustained period of time bothers McCain physically.

He can type, he occasionally does type, but in general the injuries he sustained as a POW — ones that make it impossible for him to raise his arms high enough to comb his hair — mean that small tasks make his shoulders ache, so he tries to avoid any repetitive exercise.

Again, it’s not that he can’t type, he just by habit avoids when he can repetitive exercise involving his arms. He does if he has to, as with handshaking or autographs.

It’s certainly possible that the Obama campaign did not know this, since McCain makes it sound in interviews as if this is a matter of choice, not discomfort because of his war wounds.

“I read my e-mails, but I don’t write any,” McCain told Fortune Magazine in 2006. “I’m a Neanderthal – I don’t even type. I do have rudimentary capabilities to call up some websites, like the New York Times online, that sort of stuff. No laptop. No PalmPilot. I prefer my schedule on notecards, which I keep in my jacket pocket.”

For the Obama slime machine, which encompasses the nutroots and many we formerly worked with and admired, no slime is too low. Rhandi Rhodes, who quit Air America because Rhodes did not want to apologize for calling Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro “f*cking whore[s]”, is now content to expand on the Obama smears of John McCain.

According to Randi Rhodes, Of course he became very friendly with the Vietnamese. They called him the Prince. He was well treated actually. And he was well treated because he traded these propaganda interviews for good treatment. So look, it’s a horrible story anyway you cut it, anyway you look at it, any way you you you deal with it.

John McCain was so “well treated” in the “Hanoi Hilton” prison camp he finds it difficult to type. Barack Obama approved and started the slime and Randi Rhodes joins in on the sliming and smearing of John McCain.

The Obama slime machine has also targeted Governor Sarah Palin. The Dailykooks joined in the slime accusing Governor Palin of faked pregnancies and DemocraticUnderground posters accused Mr. Palin of incest with his daughter. Randi Rhodes continues the Obama smearing of Governor Palin, one-ups the DailyKooks – by declaring that Governor Sarah Palin is the type of woman who sleeps with teenage boys.

At some point there will be a psychiatric study about women (Repbulicans AND Democrats) who delight in attacking Hillary Clinton and all other women who aspire to break the glass ceiling. What drives these women to such hatred and attacks on their own? What drove Elizabeth Edwards to attack Hillary as ‘unhappy’ when Elizabeth knew she and Hillary shared wandering husbands? . When Randi Rhodes says the following about Governor Sarah Palin, isn’t Randi Rhodes engaging in almost brutal self-description?

She’s the woman who shows up at the kid’s birthday party and starts opining about everything from politics to lawn care. This is the woman that knows it all. Will shout you down, will get revenge on you. That’s who she is.

Randi Rhodes also accused, She’s friends with all the teenage boys. You have to say no when your kids say, ‘can we sleep over at the Palin’s? No! – No!’

Enough!

Barack Obama’s Dirty Campaign comes from Obama and trickles out from Obama supporters:

You want to know the honest truth? I think she’s like a bad actor from a B-list sex movie,” said Paula Vanbuskirk, an Obama-supporting independent, whose contempt for the Alaska governor and self-styled “hockey mom” was shared by almost everyone questioned by the Financial Times.

If it was Mr McCain’s intention to ignite a fresh “culture war” between middle America and east coast liberals by nominating Ms Palin, the evidence in Manchester suggested he has succeeded in spectacular fashion.

“I just do not trust the American people,” said Eleanor Shavell, 58, a computer programmer, who, along with several others, joked she would move to Canada if Mr Obama loses. “I cannot believe that 80 per cent of this country thinks we’re headed in the wrong direction yet 50 per cent are supporting McCain and Palin. I guess it’s like at school, there’s always got to be a bottom 50 per cent.

Governor Palin clearly terrifies the same people Hillary Clinton terrified. This past Saturday the always 99% unfunny Saturday Night Live lampooned both Senator Hillary Clinton and Governor Sarah Palin. Governor Palin responded with wit:

On Sunday, a campaign adviser confirmed that Ms. Palin had, indeed, watched the “Saturday Night Live” skit from her screen at the front of the plane. “She thought it was quite funny,” the adviser said in an email response to inquiries, “especially because the governor has dressed up as Tina Fey for Halloween.”

The McCain campaign every day moves steadily ahead.

The Obama campaign is sinking and desperate

The selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as John McCain’s running mate has so thrown him off stride, as it has most other Democrats, that all the momentum he had has vanished. He’s getting panicky advice from everywhere. He intends to launch more and sharper attacks, abandoning any pretense of a new and different, more civil campaign.

Democrats know something, and desperation is setting in. They have a novice campaigner who wanders off message. With every advantage in the primaries, Obama couldn’t win the big states — New York, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania — against Hillary Clinton, even when he got to define the rules for running against him. She could never risk alienating the base she’ll need in 2012; John McCain and Sarah Palin have no such constraints — hence the panic. [snip]

Obama got this far by winning small states and Southern states he has no chance of carrying in November. In Georgia, for example, the latest Insider Advantage poll has McCain pulling 56 percent of the vote to 38 percent for Obama, numbers that are not likely to change more than 4 percentage points in November. The undecideds and those who intend to vote for third-party campaigns are at 6 percent.

Desperate campaigns do desperate things.

The Obama campaign is desperate. Even in normally true deep blue New York State Obama is sinking according to a new poll. The Siena Research Institute poll has Obama ahead by only 5 percent – 46 to 41%.

Allegations are now rising that Obama Tried To Stall GI’s Iraq Withdrawal. According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Sebari, WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.

Desperate campaigns do desperate things.

The Democratic Party leadership of Dean/Brazile/Pelosi/Kennedy/Kerry selected Obama and ran a dirty campaign against Hillary Clinton. They are now paying the price as Americans, including Democrats, abandon the corruption of Obama/Dean/Brazile/Pelosi/Kennedy/Kerry.

In NOvember the corruption of Barack Obama’s Dirty Campaign will be wiped clean by searing defeat. NOvember can’t come soon enough.

  1. Great post. The new ads aired today call McCain “dishonest”
and even on Fox, Megyn Kelly held the McCain surrogate’s feet to the fire, but Bill Hemmer feebly lost the battle with the Obama surrogate to hold his feet to the fire. The Obama surrogate used Guiliani’s tactic of “laughing at” Bill Hemmer’s hard questions and failing to answer while talking over Bill Hemmer – is Bill Hemmer just a “nice” guy or a “wimp”. The Obama strategist was allowed to soft ball and ignore the answers to hard questions, while the McCain surrogate was forced to answer the hard questions.

Shheeeesssh, what a media circus. To be “Fair and Balanced” however, Megyn Kelly did skewer the guy whose photographer f**ked McCain with her photography; he said that he was composing a letter of apology to McCain.
NOT ENOUGH!!!! The photographer’s name is Jill Greenburg. Kelly said she Googled Greenburg and the results clearly showed how biased against McCain she has been in the past and continues to be.

  2. BREAKING NEWS!
WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.

This Breaking story begins on the new york post here:

  4. I’m thrilled. Sad, but thrilled. I want this sham and all who shoved him down our throats to go down in such a paroxysm of flames and infamy that he becomes more famous than McGovern as the definition of “loser”. And BTW, at least McGovern was a good Democrat and an honorable man.

I want my party back, with Hillary at the helm. And the only way to do that is the utter DESTRUCTION of all things Obama.

The Obamacrats (who have always been there in the Dem Party) have revealed themselves this year. The Clintons and a few others excepted; they resent needing our tainted, low-class votes, and always have.
    .
They have always needed and courted our votes, while privately sneering and hating that fact. This year, the sneering and resentment went public. It has not been pretty, to see what the Dem elites REALLY think of a large swath of this country. As soon as they thought they had enough votes in the youth and the AA bloc, they were falling all over themselves to rid themselves of those distasteful commoners.

And now those distasteful commoners and uppity wimminz are going to hand them their ass on a platter. Have a latte with that big ol’ ass-sandwich, Pelosi and Dean and Kerry and Donna and Teddy. Chow down, you pigs.

  5. Well done, Admin!!!

    Note to Eleanor Shavell:

This Canadian doesn’t think you should move to our country. I could be rude and say why, but look into your biased conscience and figure it out for yourself. 😉

  6. Wonderful article as always.

Keith Olbermann stinks he is always sucking up to the Chosen One and Randi Rhodes is a bitch and liar straight from hell.

They both are part of the Corrupt Chicago politics machine used and refined by the Evil One.

Nobama!!!!! Don’t stay home, put country first and Vote for MCcain.

  7. Obama played political games with the lives of our soldiers. He wanted them left in theater to make his anti-war platform more appealing.

He is scum of the worst sort. THIS is the attitude of this man. THIS is the same attitude of the terrorist William Ayers, who claims he bombed those buildings because it would “bring the war home” for Americans, and further his noble goal of ending it.

You don’t play games with people’s lives to make a political point, no matter HOW valid you think that point is. If you do, that is the DEFINITION of terrorism.

  8. at 6pm ET we’ll get a better picture

new state polling will be released for Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia from Rass.

  9. in saying this, these polls are done in conjunction with Fox and fox this morning said that Colorado, Penn, Virgina and Michigan moved to McCain. So i suspect the numbers may be good for McCain today.

  10. H4T, I propose trying and shooting Dumbass as a traitor. I am fucking livid he’d pull that with Iraq.

    MF’er…….

Fuck him, fuck his peaceniks, fuck his stupid scoop-jawed wife.

You don’t delay something that would help our men and women in uniform and the Iraqi people bc you’re a power hungry, cock sucking ego-maniac with a bad case of NPD.

I hope that bastard rots in hell.

  11. I am serious. I think Congress should indict him for treason and try him. You do not go to foreign leaders and do that. You do not put our men and women in further danger. You do not go around the current CiC no matter how shitty he is.

  12. The Undemocratic Party should be ashamed to itself. Their candidate, Barrack HUSSEIN Obama, is getting TOAST….They did not listen to HRC, and It’s pay back time….I’m loving it…

    —————————————————————–

Amen! My first thoughts were the people of Iraq and those men and woman who are fighting over there. What the heck was he thinking?

  14. I think this Iraq issue SHOULD blow up in BO’s face; it’s despicable what he did…unfortunately, I worry the media is already trying to figure out how to cover it up for him. Is he going to do a speech about international racism?

  15. Okie, I am just as furious as you are. This guy makes me nauseous. He is a fucking power-hungry madman, with no concern for anything but his own ascendance to the throne. He could out-Bush Bush, if given the reins of power.

This is no different than the stunt Reagan pulled with delaying the hostage release in Iran.

I was as against this damn war as anyone. But we are THERE, like it or not. And you make your choices from that point on based on the situation, and what is best.

To withdraw precipitously, or to game the conflict deliberately to produce failure, in order to prove “Nyah nyah nyah, we were RIGHT!” fills me with an unspeakable rage. That attitude is JUST as horrible as Bush’s PNAC empire-building.

I am FURIOUS. I am FED UP with this man’s narcissism, and the powers that back him. I am seriously beginning to wonder if the Dem Party led by Pelosi and Reid did not stand up to end this war in the last two years because they thought it might be an advantage to them to have it still going for election 2008. That is how far my trust in these fuckers has fallen.

  16. I’m sure the bots and the BO surrogates are going to say that the NY Post is lying and that it is biased because it endorsed McCain. (and then they’re going to cite Reagan and Iran).

Meanwhile, I am glad that The Atlantic story has just broken, with the photographer openly admitting she distorted McCain’s photos to make him look worse. That is clear bias.

  17. Hillaryfortexas:

I am seriously beginning to wonder if the Dem Party led by Pelosi and Reid did not stand up to end this war in the last two years because they thought it might be an advantage to them to have it still going for election 2008.

    ******

I always suspected this. I think it’s true, and possibly why they chose Obama – because they needed someone who said he was against the war prior to being a candidate – no matter how much of a credibility reach that really was.

  18. If that is true, then the dems and Obama have sunk even lower than I thought. Manipulating the end of a war where so many families have seen tragedy on both sides is just horrendous.

There is no excuse for this monstrous act.

  19. I think I may just go out on a limb here and just make the general statement that anyone who actually supports Dumbass out of anything other than political necessity or for fear of personal safety is a shitbag. Absolute shitbags…

  20. McCain kicking ass on the economy in FL now. Talking about corruption, and how some on Wall Street have treated the American economy like a casino.

Talking about greed, and breaking the public trust.

  21. I think that some Obama supporters honestly believe that he is for change. I think some AAs also are proud of the idea that an AA could get into office, never mind the baggage he carries.

I don’t think they are all “shit bags.”

who was the Obama surrogate that Hemmer let slide with his answers?

    ———————
Both surrogates were new to me. I do not recall the names. Sorry.

  23. JanH, OkieAtty posted the video above, and we have opposite viewpoints on this; when compared with Kelly’s interview earlier on the same show, Bill Burton did not get the same no nonsense hardhitting interrogatory that the Kelly gave the McCain surrogate. There was a huge difference in the slack given.

  24. I’m likening “support” to those supporters that are propping him up. Knowing full well what a compete fraud this man is.

  25. No matter how much information they get about barack, that will just be ignored as smear by “the other side” although that smug asshole with bill hemmer needs to drown in the Chicago river. McCain is the lesser evil for those of us who cannot tolerate Barack and his made-up life story.
My point is that this election will be won based on how much the Palin pin can deflate the balloon of the prick.

  26. shorttermer,

I’m thinking, after watching the video that the looks on Hemmer’s face, as well as the smirk on Burton’s and his continued blocking of an answer on this says it all. Burton came across as an idiot.jmo

Now this I completely agree with!

  28. OkieAtty and all, I have said all along that anger is good. It motivates those who would likely not act into ACTION. The suffragettes tried sweet, peaceful little methods for decades upon decades, but then the militant/radicals got the job done making the anger work in their favor.
It is time to TAKE THIS GUY AND THE HORSE HE RODE IN ON DOWN! How can we channel this justifiable anger into action that would matter.
Anybody really think that party loyalty is the way to go….still, after all that the undemocratic Democratic Party has done to America and its citizens?

  29. Dear Admin: Thanks for a very powerful article.

Didn’t we have a long discussion about BO’s interference in US foreign policy as a treasonable offense during Stinky’s European Summer Vacation? There is a law on the books, right? (Sorry, I can’t go research the past comments right now…:-( ) IMHO, this is a seriously smoking gun.

  30. this issue in Iraq re: withdrawal, is reminiscent of Reagan and the release of hostages in Iran just minutes after Reagan took the oath of office.

the theory was that Reaganites negotiated the delay of their release…I don’t put it past the BHO camp attempting a similar move.

  31. here is the law that would apply

    International Commerce Acts of 1798
prohibits any private citizen or party from negotiating with a foreign power in matters of national policy or military action

  32. Ill undergrnd:

I agree; there is a law and that is why I noted that Hagel and reed went with bo?

Treason is the only crime that is defined in the constitution because “treason” had been used as a political weapon in England.
    Article III, sec 3:
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.
The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

The Logan Act is the law which could be used for prosecution…It has never been used, however

The Logan Act is a United States federal law that forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments. It was passed in 1799 and last amended in 1994. Violation of the Logan Act is a felony, punishable under federal law with imprisonment of up to three years.

The text of the Act is broad and is addressed at any attempt of a US citizen to conduct foreign relations without authority. However, there is no record of any convictions or even prosecutions under the Logan Act

  34. Debbie, mp – that’s it. I hope we’ll find out that Stinky finally has pushed the envelope of his presumptive presidency farther than it can legally or politically expand. I, too, am hoping to learn more about who took part in those discusssions.

  35. HI!! Just wanted to let everyone know that I am OK, but without power for maybe one month! Lost a my biggest pine tree and my favorite. It was blown down, and lost part of the tin on my big barn. Otherwise, I am Ok, just trying to find a hot shower and enough gas to get Conroe to work.

  36. No source given:

McCain is viewed favorably by 56% of the nation’s voters while Obama earns positive reviews from 54&.

    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/majority_of_voters_say_only_mccain_biden_prepared_to_be_president

Sixty-three percent (63%) of voters say John McCain is prepared right now to be president, and 50% say the same thing about Democratic vice presidential candidate Joseph Biden. Forty-four percent (44%) say the man at the top of Biden’s ticket, Barack Obama, is ready, but 45% say he isn’t.

  39. Its devestating because they see McCain as the only one on the top of the ticket as President.

VP’s learn but Obama is according to 56% of this poll not ready for the Presidency.

  40. I’D LIKE TO BE DRUNK, AND RUN INTO RANDI RHODES IN A BAR…. i dont do well with my temper when i’m drinking.

as for olberman, he sold his soul, and i pity his retribution…

but this obama negotiation behind our backs, DISGUSTS ME, more than all the other stories i’ve heard. I AGREE IT SHOULD RESULT IN OBAMA STEPPING DOWN, the nature of this betrayal is beyond politics, it is a matter of national security in my opinion! and i would ask this question:
HOW DOES OBAMA HAVE ACCESS OR ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE IRAQI GOVERNMENT?
how is he allowed to undermine the US GOVERNMENT, with impunity?

  41. admin said: Even in normally true deep blue New York State Obama is sinking according to a new poll. The Siena Research Institute poll has Obama ahead by only 5 percent – 46 to 41%.

  43. The meltdown of Fannie and Freddie should be a transformative moment in American politics. It should discredit the whole Democratic economic agenda. It is too bad that it happened in the middle of the most interesting Presidential election in a generation because there are lessons to learn from it. Several points.

Let’s start with some numbers. Contributions since 1989(!) to ALL members of Congress. Note that this is an aggregate over time. Note how a guy who has been in Congress for 3 years manages to come in 3rd on the list.

I just now asked the New York mayor, a former Wall Street hand who’s been in the mix in the current crisis, whether he agrees with McCain that the fundamentals of the American economy are strong.

“I do agree that fundamentally America has an economy that is strong,” he said. “America’s great strength is its diversity, its hard work, its good financial statements, its broad capital markets, its enormous natural resources” and its work ethic, he said.

“I’d rather play America’s hand than any other country,” he said. “Without problems? No.”

  46. http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0908/Brave_New_PAC_Bulter_vs_McCain.html?showall

Brave New PAC airs an ad in which a fellow former prisoner of war attacks McCain, swiftboating in the classic sense and a (for the McCain campaign) welcome opportunity for McCain to cast himself as the victim in a media environment in which he’s being cast as the aggressor.

McCain aide Michael Goldfarb responds: “It’s unfortunate that Senator Obama has fallen so far, from opposing outside expenditures and supporting public financing at the beginning of this race to opting out of public financing and now “looking the other way” on independent expenditures–no matter how vile.”

UPDATE: As Greg Sargent notes, this is a tiny buy — not a well-funded 527.

  47. TurndownObama, if things keep going the way they have been, they will need Hillary and Bill to save Obama in Illinois. 🙂

  48. http://www.politico.com/blogs/jonathanmartin/0908/Palin_discusses_her_priorities_as_veep.html?showall

Sarah Palin today for the first time outlined what issues she’d focus on as vice president should she and John McCain be elected in November: energy, government reform and finding cures for diseases afflicting children and families.

“John and I have worked out a plan, what I want to concentrate on and what he would like to kind of tap into me to help with,” Palin said at a rally just outside Denver this morning. “My mission is going to energy security and government reform. And another thing near and dear to my heart, it’s going to be helping families who have special needs and children with special needs. And we’re going to be pushing for innovative cures for diseases.”

The issues jibe with Palin’s expertise, both professionally and personally.

She’s devoted much of her time as governor to addressing energy issues, so vital to Alaska’s economy, and she rode to office in 2006 on a reform mantle.

And, as she noted this morning, she’s the mother of a child with Down syndrome and has a nephew with Autism.

  49. These vicious so called feminists’ attacks on Palin also made it very clear to me: So called pro-chioce is a sham, they are simply pro-abortion. If a woman actually chose to carry a baby to full term under circumstances those so called feminists deemed warrant an abortion, then that woman needs to be damned in their eyes. What happened to respect a woman’s choice, regardless what her choice maybe? The more I see the extreme left act, the more I loathe them.

  50. Newly released Federal Election Commission documents reveal that Democratic party presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois accepted a hefty $7250 contribution this summer from terrorist supporter Jodie Evans, a co-founder of the anti-American group Code Pink.

The contribution was made through a hybrid fundraising vehicle, the Obama Victory Fund, that splits contributions between Obama’s presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee. The records were filed on July 30 and July 31 of this year. Evans designated $2300 of the $7250 for Obama’s general election campaign, the maximum allowed by law.

The contribution was apparently given by Evans for a June 24 Hollywood fundraiser for the Obama Victory Fund attended by Obama and Evans. Evans’ Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin described the meeting between Obama and Evans at the fundraiser in a video posted days after the event.

Evans has played a key role in Obama’s campaign from the very beginning when she co-hosted Obama’s breakout Hollywood fundraiser weeks after he announced his candidacy in February 2007. Evans’ role was to peel off supporters in Hollywood’s progressive community from New York Sen. Hillary Clinton’s presidential candidacy and deliver them to Obama. She contributed the maximum $2300 for his primary campaign and is a bundler of between $50,000 and $100,000 for Obama.

Evans has continued to rally the progressive community for Obama through efforts like the open letter she published in February 2008 that was co-signed by feminists on the left and another open letter published by The Nation on July 30, 2008.

Obama has rejected several calls by military family groups to reject Evans because of her pro-terrorist activities and statements. Evans openly supports the terrorists in Iraq; sympathizes with Osama bin Laden over the 9/11 attacks; works with state sponsors of terrorism and anti-American governments including Hugo Chavez’s to undermine America’s efforts to win the war on terror.

  51. moononpluto,

Can you post a link to the FEC election reports documenting the contribution to Obama from terrorist supporter Jodie Evans? I would like to publicize this in Iowa City.

  52. So why isn’t this link to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer editorial about how Obama pays women in his Senate staff office 83 cents for every dollar that men make getting more play??!! Supposedly, a legislative watchdog group, Legistorm, publishes Senate pay records:

    seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/378772_murdockonline12.html

    Don’t put “w w w” in there. Just the h t t p : / / part.

Both McCain and Hillary hire more women than Obama, pay them more, and have more women making six-figure incomes while Obama pays women $6,000-$9,000 less than men.

  53. My nemesis on the local radio station has said that it isn’t true that Obama pays women less than men, which is what I said on my blog (83 cents for women for every dollar a man makes). Does anyone have an authoritative source other than the seattle p-i??

My sense is that it IS true.

  54. Just over at Politico, and they have an article up about Dumbass in Hollywood and doing two fundraisers expecting to top $9M.

If I were McCain, I’d run an ad about Ike and what folks are doing there juxtposed against a Barbara Streisand singing “People.” Do it in an ironic way to show as much as they talk about the plight of the “little people,” they really don’t give a shit and neither does Dumbass.

  55. Show the white table cloth settings vs. the chow line at the shelter or the water line in the Wal-Mart parking lot…

  56. So exactly how much money has Obama blown on this election from day one? And what has he achieved for it? That would make a great ad.

  57. how do we call an all out war on the liberal media? I’m so sick of this. We were subjected to it for at least 12 months during Hillary’s run…I know that it’s landed in the Republicans lap, but I have absolute empathy. Well, if McCain/Palin get it, at least one of the things they should do is reform the media – since their Republican predecessors also let the corporate control of media go out of control…

    Excerpts:

    September 15, 2008
Into the Obama Tank for the Final Push
    By Jennifer Rubin

Any pretense of fairness by the mainstream media is gone. The MSNBC duo of anchor buffoons have been downgraded but not fired. The Washington Post runs dueling front page articles — one a recycled tabloid-like piece (apologies to our tabloid friends who generally don’t recycle old material) about Cindy McCain’s past drug problems and one, made up out of whole cloth, that Sarah Palin’s allegedly believes and told departing troops that Iraq was behind 9-11. Caught concocting the latter story, the Post tried a hasty edit on the piece (in the middle of the night, no less) — a maneuver which bloggers quickly spotted. We saw the oozing condescension of normally mild-mannered Charlie Gibson in his Palin interview. Assuring Palin he was using a direct quote (he was not) to accuse her of believing her son was on “task form God” and laying a gotcha trap on the Bush Doctrine (which has no single meaning), Gibson seemed himself to have a “task” — to trip up a figure held in contempt by most of his colleagues. And of course we are treated to lengthy “investigative” pieces on Palin — which lack any factual support for their scandal-suggestive headlines. [snip]

Meanwhile, juicy stories that would be headlines if a Republican were involved — the meager charitable donations by Joe Biden and a bizarrely inaccurate Obama ad asserting McCain doesn’t use a computer (he does but can’t type due to war injuries) — are utterly ignored by the MSM. Rather the storyline continues unabated: those mean Republicans are lying again. But really, what’s up? As a longtime prominent conservative editor says the media bias is “the worst I’ve ever seen.” Well, the answer: it’s what’s down. Barack Obama’s numbers — both national polls and electoral vote tallies — are taking a nose dive. The media is now, as is the rest of the Democratic establishment, in a frenzied meltdown. Their guy could well lose and they’ve staked their reputations, such as they are, on his victory. It is not hard to see why they have gone into overdrive to protect and bolster The One.

  58. CTV,

I feel the same way. It is disgusting the way these people proclaim to be media representatives. They are dishonest, unethical, and even more trashy than those b-mags out there like the Enquirer.

  59. The below is not a joke. This is for real.

    http://blog.beliefnet.com/godometer/2008/09/obama-rolls-out-new-line-of-fa.html

God-o-Meter has learned that the Obama campaign is about to email religious supporters an annoucnement about a new line of Obama faith merchandise–bumper stickers, buttons, and signs with three different messages, featured here–along with the following note:

    Dear friends,
Great news! We now have faith merchandise available for you to show your support for Barack Obama as a person of faith.

Check out the Believers for Barack, Pro-Family Pro-Obama, and Catholics for Obama buttons, bumper stickers and signs….

Believers for Barack rally signs and bumper stickers, along with all Pro-Family Pro-Obama merchandise, are appropriate for people of all faith backgrounds. We’ll soon be rolling out merchandise for other religious groups and denominations, but I wanted to get this out to you without delay.

    Take good care,

    Paul Monteiro
    Deputy Director of Religous Affairs
    Obama for America

  60. admin: how much is he charging for these items for the faithful? Snark.

This is so inappropriate, I don’t know where to begin. And, people think Palin is a religious fanatic?

  62. May I remind everyone that with all this concern and upset over the financial markets today, our Hillary spoke out to the NCRC back in MARCH OF 2007, over a year and a half ago, about this looming mortgage mess, and was ignored.

Can we have Hillary back now, please?

  63. And, HillaryforTexas, it was Hillary who was denounced by Obama and Big Media when she proposed a comprehensive energy policy which included a state gas tax holiday during the primaries.

  64. Wait for it, Obama will take Hillary’s policies and remake them his own over and over again. He’ll be saying that it was he that forewarned about this mess.

  65. Historically, you need to win two of three of the following to capture the WH: PA, OH and FL. McCain will win FL, he’s in good shape in OH and he’s moving up fast in PA.

  66. BTW, the fact that BO is going so negative on McCain’s character tells you all you need to know about the state of the race.

Also, I just read somewhere that only a few reporters are covering Biden. That’s how irrelevant he’s become.

  67. admin, he spent 19 months saying the Clinton years were a pile of crap with no real “ideas”, and now suddenly he wants to wrap himself in the mantle of Bill Clinton’s successes in his speeches on economy.

He is loathsome. He is slime. He is not fit to wipe Big Dawg’s ass.

  68. Just took a walk to the store 15 minutes away and saw 7 McCain/Palin signs and one obama. Not obama/Biden just obama. I am in southwestern PA so that bodes well.

  69. Admin,

Wonderful article. I’m really glad you addressed the JM injuries preventin him from typing.

I HATE BO and his nasty arrogant self-indulgent twerpy prickish motherf***ing minions. 😡

    Confloyd,
No power for a MONTH!!!!! OMG!!!!! You have my deepest sympathies. 🙁

BTW all, about those NY numbers, i was listening to the local Albany station and what’s
even more remarkeable about the 5% gap between JM and BO is that 48% of NY’ers are registered
Dem while only 28% are registered repub!!!!!!!!!!!

  71. The polls are weird. It’s hard to believe BO’s up by only 5 in NY but up by 4 in VA. However, according to that N.Y. Post article, Repub and Dem internals polls in NY basically confirm that Siena poll.

  72. According toAl Rooney (sp) they are. He was interviewing a professional stats and polling person but i can’t remember his name.

The station is WGY Albany and I’m sure there’s a transcript.

The pro said Bo was up by 18% in June, 13% in July and 5% now. Quite a drop. They were talking about how NYS hasn’t gone repub since Reagan?

They also talked about Indies breaking heavily for JM but I don’t recall those numbers.
Between BO’s despicable treatment of the VERY popular senator HRC and David Patterson’s
continuous warnings that race is adversely affecting BO and if he isn’t elected it will prove America’s
not made progress in civil rights, people are PO’d.

I think Obama is “over polling” everywhere because of the demographic models. The polls over inflate the %D v %R and over estimate the turnout of AA and 18-34 yo voters. If Rs were going to sit this “one” out, the Sara-cuda changed that assumption. I thought two years ago that the split would be 45% D..45% R and 10% U…who would decide the election. And that was when I thought the Dems couldn’t loose.

  74. TRANSFORMATIVE?????

I’d like to transform this election so HRC is at the top of the ticket where she belongs.

Obama’s platform is a terrible economic recipe. It’s touted as a return to FDR big-government-projects (not necessarily the best solution now) but it’s more like a return to Carter/Mondale policy (and partisan gridlock).

Indeed, Obama didn’t just throw the Clintons under the bus – he threw the Clinton/Gore small, activist, pro-business policy under the bus. No one should be saying that Democrats know how to preside over an economic boom this year – Clinton/Gore knew how, and their ideas are nowhere in this year’s bloated platform.

  83. Rassmussen

Polling in Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia shows marginal gains for McCain in three states and for Obama in two. McCain has a slight advantage in three of the five states and the other two are tied. However, in only one state does the gap between McCain and Obama exceed three percentage points in polls with a four-and-a-half percentage point margin of sampling error.

The overriding message from these results is that the race remains very close with just over seven weeks to go.

The biggest change is found in Colorado where it’s now McCain 48% and Obama 46%. A week ago, Obama had a three-point edge in this western state. The current results are similar to the Rasmussen Reports Colorado polling conducted in August, just before the Democratic convention was held in Denver.

McCain now holds a 49% to 44% advantage in Florida. Last week the candidates were tied at 48% in the Sunshine State.

In Ohio, McCain continues to have the advantage, 48% to 45%. That’s closer than the results from last week which showed McCain with a 51% to 44% advantage.

Virginia and Pennsylvania are both tied. Last week McCain was up by two in Virginia and Obama was up two in Pennsylvania.

I have show goats and now they will be without water. I have not heard any news, is Bushit doing a good job with fema or not? There is so much devastation as far as power that its going to take a long time.

Also whats the news with Hillary, are they getting ready to dump Biden or by the looks of the posts maybe God has intervened and Bambi will have to step down? Could there actually be a chance that he has finally screwed his ownself?? Glad Hillary wasn’t in on that gaffe cause they will blame her! LOL!!

I have been reading Bill’s book by candlelight the last two days. HE IS TRUELY AN AMAZING MAN!! THat is is about the best thing that has happened to me since sat. at 4pm. I am at my daughter’s and trying to get ready to go to work, when I get there they want me to work 24 hr. shifts, Yeah right, I guess they haven’t noticed that I am 58 years old. Just recieved a Hilgram from Anne Lewis and it really made my day.Log on to Hill’s web site and be reassured that she has not abandoned her party, her senate duties and is right back to her remarkeable accomplishments of taking care of the American families and the women that make them function. She has introduced or co-sponsered more bills in just the past two months than Obama than the great one dince he has been in politics. After reading lewis’s Hillgram I do not believe one can accuse her of supporting Obama with much vigor. In fact she noted that she was hoping that he would have attended the event.A monumental scenario is being peeled of its odious actors.

It will come soon my friends Obama,Biden,McCain,Palin,Dean,Brazile,Pelosi and all of their co conspirators will soon be yesterdays news and then there will be one HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON our bright star in waiting for our full support and our votes of confidence. There now canbe no doubt that she and only she can save this great country from becoming a malfunctioning third world look alike. The odor of treason and and voter fraud is overwhelming and we must open all the doors and windows in this campaign and LET THE SUNSHINE IN.

  87. This is telling of the polls Rassmussen anounced today

In all five states, McCain continues to be viewed more favorably—and trusted more– than Obama.

    · The number who would not be comfortable with Obama as President is at 40% or 41% in every state. Thats pretty high rate to be losing right off.

  88. Maria,

    I’m confused.

    h t t p : / / seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/378772_murdockonline12.html
The article I saw was published in the Seattle P-I but it was written by Deroy Murdock who sounds respectable and the article cites what sounds like a respectable source:

A watchdog group called LegiStorm posts online the salaries for Capitol Hill staffers. “We have no political affiliations and no political purpose except to make the workings of Congress as transparent as possible,” its website explains. Parsing LegiStorm’s official data, gleaned from the Secretary of the Senate, offers a fascinating glimpse at pay equity in the World’s Greatest Deliberative Body.
    [….]
Deroy Murdock is a columnist with Scripps Howard News Service and a media fellow with the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace at Stanford University.

Murdock’s email is published there, perhaps he could give you more ammunition. Especailly if your nemesis is questionoing Murdockk’s credibilty.

  89. Rush was on a roll today

he was the only one i heard so far today to bring this up

WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.

Rush also said rather LOUDLY and REPEATEDLY

that Obama should be prosecuted under (i forget what act of the constitution it is) the constitutional law that says it’s illegal to impersonate the president with a foreign government.

GO RUSH!!!!! SCREAM IT LOUD AND OFTEN!!

  90. ok i have been busy painting olive branches in my kitchen today LOL……

so tell me, what’s going with confloyd????

  91. Maria,

Do you have a blog of your own in addition to your op-eds in various media? What’s your own url?

  92. confloyd: Hugs. I am sorry that you are having such a difficult. Reading by candle light is kind of neat (sometimes). The lack of water, is a real problem.

dija: confloyd is in Tx, and is suffering from the aftermath of the hurricaine.

  93. (((((confloyd)))), I feel for you. I went through hurricane Hugo in SC, and it was 6 weeks before we had power or water. It was water, mosquitos, debris and destruction everywhere.

I will say that within a few days, it was church groups and others driving in with fuel, ice, food etc from other areas who did the most. The government did okay, but our fellow-Americans did the most. Self-employed truckdrivers were loading up and coming to help within a few days.

Hopefully relief is on the way.

  94. I had my 3rd fund request in the last 10 days.
The lastest from nancy on joining.giving to the obama OPPORTUNITY fund!!!!.

more likely the sleazy OPPORTUNIST fund!!!!

  95. Rasmussen is also reporting that in their poll of the 5 battleground states, around 20% could still change their mind before the election. They go on to say that McCain is viewed more favorably and trusted more than bambi (by around a 7% margin).

When you look at these 2 important bits of information, I think it’s pretty clear that McCain is on more favorable ground here. Particularly with respect to the undecided and not-completely-decided voters.

What I don’t understand completely is why the poll numbers are as close as they are. I assume most of it’s due to the unpopularity of the current administration and the state of the economy, but it’s almost like there are a LOT of potential voters that are in play for McCain/Palin, and they are just waiting for a reason. Maybe we’re seeing some of the Bradley effect in action here too. When asked directly who voters support, it’s easy to fudge and answer the politicallyh correct way. But when asked indirect quesions about their feelings regarding the candidates, the more accurate their answers become.

Anyway, whatever the reasons, I think this bodes well for McCain/Palin on election day, as I think the undecided and not-completely decided voters will break their way.

  96. Birdgal

thanks….. yes i know confloyd is in texas

what i wanted to know is what is going on with her

I am at my daughters house as her power is on and she is washing my clothes while the other daughter set up this laptop so I could kinda catch up. I have to go to work in the morning in Houston where the real devastation is.

Wbboei I haven’t even got to read your article, hopefully I will get to soon. You all keep up the good work and when things get back to normal I will catch up. Thanks again!

well, speaking of work…… it’s time for me to head out

tonight i will have hannity on with sara palin at the bar 😀

  100. Regarding Iowa, BO has been ahead there for months. McCain didn’t do well there in the caucus; it’s just not a good state for him.

  101. McCain admits that economics is not one of his strong points.

Obama admits that he hates paperwork.Perhaps the only paper he cares about is MONEY.

Biden admits that foreign affairs is his cup of tea as well as talking and other subjects are of less interest to him.

Palin is still a local political light weight and learning.

Add them all up and what do you have? Three misfits fighting for the worlds toughest job and getting worse each day is the economic news that greets them.

Now it is time to elect a real leader with more talent to handle the job than all the other combined wannabe’s.

Obama is on the slippery slope and his #1 adviser MO according to him is leading him and his cult over the cliff.I wonder if she is the one that advised him to secretly contact the Iraqi leader about postponing the troop withwrawl until after his fairy tale comes true and he becomes CIC? Dangerous stuff and truly an act of treason if anyone cares to pursue this brazen act of warped ambitions and desparation.

HILLARY do you now see how badly your country needs you to save it from itself? we are ready and waiting for you to take charge.

  102. Interesting research into Obama’s touching “grandpa and astronaut” story. It may be, like so much of his life, entirely fabricated:

    Albertafriend
    September 15th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
Also here is what I believe to be another Obama fairy tale. In his biographical video from the convention (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/08/28/obama-biography-video-at_n_122271.html ) he tells a charming tale about a favorite childhood memory—being taken by his grandpa to see some of the astronauts come back, sitting on Grandpa’s shoulder and waving a small American flag. And Grandpa said, “Boy, Americans—we can do anything if we put our minds to it!”
I was suspicious about that as soon as I saw it. With the news footage they showed along with this it sounded like they went down to the shore and watched one of the space capsules splashdown. It’s about an inch from the end of the tracking line below the video so you don’t have to watch the whole thing. There were only two splashdowns in the vicinity of Hawaii—Apollo 15, Aug. 7, 1971, 550 miles north of Honolulu and ASTP-Soyuz, July 24, 1975 and given the coordinates was probably about 275-400 miles from Honolulu. The splashdown they show looks identical to that of Apollo13 (http://tomsastroblog.com/?p=1852 ). The next part of his video shows astronauts coming out of a helicopter wearing orange suits which doesn’t match any pictures I can find in any of the photo galleries on the flights (all the pictures show the astronauts in blue suits) and then there’s a tickertape parade. The only reference I can find to any such parades are for Apollo 11 and Apollo 13. There are a couple of photos online for Apollo 11 but I cannot find any for 13.

Anyway the video makes it look like he was there to see these things—all the while sitting on Grandpa’s shoulders and waving his little flag. However Apollo 13 did not happen till April 17, 1970 when he was 9 years old (Grandpa would have had to have very strong shoulders to be carrying the chubby Barry that we know him to be then) and still going to school in Indonesia. It’s interesting also to note that a few seconds before this touching biographical vignette he’s telling us about the values he learned from his mother and his grandparents like “HONESTY”!

    I also found this out:
The Lunar Receiving Laboratory (LRL) is a facility at NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center (Building 37) that was constructed to quarantine astronauts and material brought back from the Moon during the Apollo program to mitigate the risk of back-contamination. After recovery at sea, crews from Apollo 11, Apollo 12 and Apollo 14 walked from their helicopter to an isolation van on the deck of an aircraft carrier and were brought to the LRL for quarantine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L…..Laboratory

Now just to be fair, the crew of Apollo 13 did go to Honolulu for a ceremony on April 18 but he was still in Indonesia. Apollo 15 having landed fairly close to Hawaii may have also gone there but he was too old for his story, Apollo 16—I haven’t been able to find out, and for Apollo 17, Dec. 19, 1972, I also found an article that said the crew flew to Honolulu and then on to the mainland but nothing about a public reception and besides he’s way too old.

It just all goes into the fairy tale file that we are all so familiar with—a sweet tale to endear him to America but it makes you want to puke when it’s revealed for what it is. If it could in any way be possible for him to have been back in Hawaii (which I don’t believe could have been the case)to see the historic welcome for Apollo 13, then why not identify it as such? Anyone would have remembered that all their life and would have been proud to say they were there. And if it was any other, then it just doesn’t fit the cute mind-picture that he created and so it’s another deception. Barry, Barack, Barack II Dunham, Obama, Soetoro, Obama cannot be believed about ANYTHING that he has to say about himself and the life he has lived.

  103. New rasmussen polls are out for 5 key states:

    POLL UPDATE:

New Rasmussen/FOX polls from 5 swing states:

    THE MARKOS ZOMBIES!!!!

    cannonfire.blogspot.com/2008/09/markos-zombies.html

  105. LOL…Lou Dobbs is going after accuracy in reporting. He pinned down Dana Bash (sp?) when she tried to imply that Palin’s events were the only ones scripted and without questions from the media. He pushed her to admit that all of the candidates, including Obama’s were scripted. He followed up with Candy Crowley about it.

  106. I had a good laugh today, lol. I received in my mail, a letter from the DNC wanting a donation and they included a bumper sticker.

Has anyone ever seen a bumper sticker that doesn’t have any name on it? I never did. This one had in smaller print: No Third Term. Time for Change. Then below in a bit larger print: VOTE DEMOCRAT

I guess they figured if they put Obama’s name on it no one would put it on their car, lol. Well, I’m not putting it on anyway, lol.

I still have my Hillary sticker on.

  107. Woah, and Lou Dobbs just went after Obama on immigration and is going to talk about whether Obama is trying to delay things in Iraq next.

  108. Hang in there confloyd. 🙂

    Everyone,
This is a link to a Karl Rove electoral map and comments made yesterday, 9/14, giving JM the lead by 227 to 226.
There is also a segment about the Sienna NYS Poll.

    patriotroom.com/?p=2054

  109. You know what’s so funny (and sad), that we should tell the Republicans to tune into Lou Dobbs – we’ve known for awhile that he was the only fair one on CNN…

Now the Republicans can watch Lou too.

  110. bluegirl, I got that same mailing today too. I ripped it into teeny little pieces and chunked it into the trashcan without reading it.

  111. admin says:
Check out the Believers for Barack, Pro-Family Pro-Obama, and Catholics for Obama buttons, bumper stickers and signs….
    ————————————————————————————————

where can i get me a “pagan for palin” tee?

  112. To be honest – I don’t want to see the Downticket Dems wiped out along with BO – if the DNC had a mechanism to show exactly where the money went and that it only went to a, b, c of the Dems in particular states, I would consider it.

  113. BTW, Greta on FOX is doing an exclusive interview with Todd Palin tonight. I want to watch, even though he is not running for anything, because I have admired how supportive he is of his wife, doing the stay-at-home dad thing and all.

Okay, and he is pretty easy on the eyes, too, I admit it.

  114. HillaryforTexas – if you haven’t seen the one hour special on Greta on Palin, I recommend it highly.

What was great was to hear Todd talk about his role as a stay-at-home dad and that it’s more and more accepted among men to be strong figures at home with their children. It was very cool I honestly wish more men were like that.

I think about people like Bill Maher who thinks that being a liberal makes him immune to being a sexist ass, but compared to Todd Palin – I doubt Maher would stay at home and be a father, instead he’d be chasing women who are 20 years younger than him (believe me, I spotted him at a mall with one).

  115. I got the DNC mailer, too.
I ripped it up, wrote NOBAMA NOVEMBER, SWEETIE in red lipstick and sent it back without a stamp.
    Felt d@mn good.
    BTW,
Anyone know if this is true?
‘HRC actually campaigned for Obama 2004 and helped him get elected to the Senate. Furthermore, at his request she mentored him, because Obama was told ‘if you want to see a good example of what a hard working Senator is — see Hillary.”

  116. McCain playing this right

McCain Responds to Obama’s Reported Undermining of the Commander-In-Chief During Wartime [Andy McCarthy]

The McCain Campaign has issued a statement responding to the report from Amer Taheri (see today’s web briefing) that Sen. Obama secretly negotiated with the Iraqi government regarding U.S. withdrawal from Iraq. McCain spokesman Randy Scheunemann stated as follows:

At this point, it is not yet clear what official American negotiations Senator Obama tried to undermine with Iraqi leaders, but the possibility of such actions is unprecedented. It should be concerning to all that he reportedly urged that the democratically-elected Iraqi government listen to him rather than the US administration in power. If news reports are accurate, this is an egregious act of political interference by a presidential candidate seeking political advantage overseas. Senator Obama needs to reveal what he said to Iraq’s Foreign Minister during their closed door meeting. The charge that he sought to delay the withdrawal of Americans from Iraq raises serious questions about Senator Obama’s judgment and it demands an explanation.

  117. What’s up with Misssssshhhhhh?????????

Not home with the kiddos on 9/11 after all?

Not at 9/11 after she told us she was finally proud of her country.

Where as she? The world wants to know.

Somebody said she was at a church event.

Listening to all that fine love thy neighbor unless he happens to be………………….stuff Rev. Wright is famous for.

Like that line by Waler Matheau in Hello Dolly: Wonderful woman.

  118. So he did interfere. Obama trying to deflect, he so did interfere.

FLINT, Mich. — Obama reiterated his commitment to withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq during a telephone conversation this morning with the country’s foreign minister, he told reporters in a 10-minute press conference on the tarmac here.

He said he told Zebari that negotiations for a Status of Forces agreement or strategic framework agreement between the two countries should be done in the open and with Congress’s authorization and that it was important that that there be strong bipartisan support for any agreement so that it can be sustained through a future administration. He argued it would make sense to hold off on such negotiations until the next administration.

“My concern is that the Bush administration–in a weakened state politically–ends up trying to rush an agreement that in some ways might be binding to the next administration, whether it was my administration or Sen. McCain’s administration,” Obama said. “The foreign minister agreed that the next administration should not be bound by an agreement that’s currently made.”

  119. Isn’t this treasonous, interfering with current government policy and all?

“The foreign minister agreed that the next administration should not be bound by an agreement that’s currently made.”

  120. So he did interfere with the negotiations of the Govt, Obama is not the President nor even President elect and has no right to demand the Iraqis do anything. He has no right to be even inferring what they should do.

  121. Ohhhhhh . . . . .

    That’s from June 16.

Still think he should be court martialed but he didn’t say the same thing today.

  122. moonpluto,

I remember reading about that back in June, thinking it would be sure to get him in trouble but . . . nope . . . .

I wanna know why it took 3 months for the story to get any attention.

  123. Basil, McCains put out a strong statement and doing the talk shows in the morning, he aint going to ignore this. I’m sorry but Obama has interfered in things he had no right to, thats the state dept job, the defense dept job and the Presidents job, you do not undermine them, that gets people killed.

Excellent. I spared them no expletive. She campained for him, she mentored him as a young senator and john mccain himself could have slapped him on some early legisation not look bad on some gross errors in protocol. The truth is the entire establishment has bent over backwards t accomodate this bastard and especially those who he attacks most viciously now. When the Dean of my lawschool welcomed the new class thirty six years ago, he reminded us of the words of St. Paul: if ye hath not charity ye hath nothing. Fine words to live by –Barack,

  125. Ok, so Obama has just admitted to undermining the authority of the U.S. government…

and the Obamabots keep referencing that he’s a Constitutional Lawyer – he doesn’t know jackshit about law.

  126. Obama idiotically gaffes on Good Morning America

He’s giving Biden a run for his money!

“If we’re going to ask questions about, you know, who has been promulgating negative ads that are completely unrelated to the issues at hand, I think I win that contest pretty handily,” Obama said.

    What a dick

  127. Anyone just catch CNN’s Lou Dobbs grilling the female reporter who was covering a Palin speech?

“She snidely was talking about Palin using a prepared speech and teleprompter when Dobbs broke in and asked, “Does Obama still use a teleprompter?” “Does Obama write his own speeches?” She was like a deer in the headlights! She started talking about how she answered no questions and then Dobbs asked “how many questions did Obama answer after his speech today?” She had to ask her producer (on live TV-LOL) and then there was quiet until she answered “4 questions”. Dobbs then said something like “Wow, some press conference”

Please tell me someone has this on YouTube!

  128. moonpluto,
    I absolutely 1,000% AGREE!!!!
I’m just pointing out that the statement was made June 16, tomorrow is September 16, 3 months have gone by and I haven’t seen one story about this other than it being mentioned on some of the blogs.
So it was obviously covered up and what I wanna know is how come it’s suddenly reaching MSM now?
And if it’s been covered up ’til now what makes anyone thing it would be addressed now?
I wish to he!! it would be but I’m not gonna hold my breath.
i’m still terrified Bo will find a way to pull this off.
    👿

  129. MOON!

    Keyboard water spurt alert!!!!

JEEEEZZZZZ – did he really say that????

    CTV,
Problem is he made those comments 3 months ago.
    firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/06/16/1146329.aspx

  130. and those comments 3 months ago confirm the stories accuracy and Obama is now trying to worm his way out of it.

  131. Yeah but the impact of whatever is said or dug up now is gonna be weakened by the 3 month lapse in coverage.

I reiterate, I remember seeing the story on 6/14 and thinking it would for sure be huge and nada.

It SHOULD result in BO being forced to step down from the campaign IMHO but I doubt anything will happen.

  132. I was talking about this sending me into water-spirting paroxsyms.

‘If we’re going to ask questions about, you know, who has been promulgating negative ads that are completely unrelated to the issues at hand, I think I win that contest pretty handily,’

  133. “If we’re going to ask questions about, you know, who has been promulgating negative ads that are completely unrelated to the issues at hand, I think I win that contest pretty handily,” Obama said.

Agreed. Lets sign the contract and get out of here.I begin to believe he did push the wrong button 6 times in error. Flake/

  134. i know everyone throws a fit when when someone says a negative comment about hillary, but i really dont give a sh*t!

i am really pissed at hillary right now… everyone keeps making excuses for her behavior, just like obama’s people make excuses for his behavior.

this note i got in the mail from my union. do not forget my union president campaigned hard for hillary and against obama… last week i didnt get on this blog too often cause i was bothered… a couple of my most trusted obama hating union friends, had one of those talks with me. i was flabbergasted, when my rabid obama hating friend told me, she would fight anyone who talks bad about obama… she and others layed down the law, about defending democratic principals over personal preference…

what about minimum wage, what about workers rights, what about social programs to help the poor, what about fmla laws, workers compensation laws they asked me… think about how republicans have assaulted the middle class and workers for eight years. sometimes they said, you have to do the right thing and look at the long term picture, rather than selfish satisfaction… it took me 3 days of worrying about what my priorities were, before i came to terms with my decision…

i decided, it was all broken and must now be rebuilt from the ground up, and i must be strong, and do the right thing, which is rebuild today, lest the children suffer the status quo in the future.

AND I GET THIS IN THE MAIL FROM MY UNION TODAY:
    ******

The IAM officially and whole-heartedly now endorses Senator Barrack Obama for President of the United States of America. With Hillary Clinton appearing in person at the 2008 convention to make the endorsement, and with Tom Buffenbarger, IAM International President introducing Obama, who spoke with the convention live via teleconference, there is now no doubt as to where this union stands on November the fourth. There’s also election work to do, and we’re coming back to this major election topic in a separate message.
    *********************************

    HILLARY, YOU HURT ME…

  135. I’m just saddened its come to this, Hillary being paraded around like the bearded lady at the freak show begging for votes. They must really have something on Bill and Hillary.

  136. I found this at NQ.
McCain responds to BO’s iraq comments.

from The Corner on National Review Online:

  137. I honestly think Hillary and Bill are having a laugh this year, I do think they are saddened that the true champion, Hillary is not the nominee, but again, the laugh now is at Obama because what Hillary first accused of him in regards to his inexperience is now hitting Obama hard, so hard that he now is competing with Palin, the Vice President, get this, the VICE PRESIDENT candidate, and not McCain.

  138. Basil: take all the time you want. Current events are more interesting. The only benefit of past recollections recorded is they make it harder for those who would rewrite history to get away with it.

  139. Is there PROOF that Michele was not home with the kids?

    ————————————————-

She was probably shacked up with lovemuffin Jeremiah Wright ridin’ dirty.

  140. A friend of mine who knows alot more about fiscal policy than I ever will is deeply concerned about the impact which the Dodd Frank bill will have on this bailout will have on the people of this the value of the dollar, cost of living and all that. His biggest problem however is that it is yet another example of the american people forced to cover the losses of wall street speculators. He says will 90 billion will be paid by the Fed (taxpayers) and 60 billion by the Bank of England. The bad debts will be thrust on the taxpayers. Bambi signed it with no qualifications (what me worry) whereas Hillary sighned by said she will be monitoring the effect on citizens. McCain signed without qualifications as well. My source wants it repealed/

  141. moon,
    I meant 👿
    gonzo,
Michelle was in 2 states on 9/10, Ohio and another one (i forgot which) campaigning for BO.
She wasn’t home with the kids on Wed so why couldn’t she attend the 9?11 ceremonies o thursday>

    Gonzo,
there were a couple of articles linked about that on last week’s threads.

  142. BREAKING:

Unnamed sources on Wall Street are reporting that the current unrest in the market is related to heavy trading of pharmaceutical giant Ortho/McNeil.

Insiders are speculating that the trading was sparked by (not quite) 18 million Americans, primarily in Blue States, all buying record amounts of the anti-diarrheal drug Imodium AD over the past week. Much of this highly unusual spike in Imodium sales seems to be concentrated in the Washington, DC and Chicago, Illinois areas.

  143. gonzo,
    from the Indianapolis Star.

All parents can appreciate the importance of being there for young children as they begin a new school year. Unfortunately, Michelle Obama wasn’t able to be with her daughters yesterday. As reported today by the Indianapolis Star:

FISHERS, Ind. — Michelle Obama on Wednesday described her struggles to balance career and family — and spoke of the guilt she often feels when she shortchanges either one.

But her presentation before a mostly female, friendly crowd of 250 in reliably Republican Hamilton County was about more than underscoring that she and her husband, Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama, understood family pressures.

Even then, Obama wasn’t done for the day. UPI detailed her Wednesday evening:

The National Black Baptist Convention meeting in Cincinnati warmly welcomed Michelle Obama who called on members to “struggle for the world as it should be.”

Obama had to wait for the crowd of about 7,000 to calm down before she could begin her speech Wednesday night, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported. She began by telling the National Baptist Convention USA she was speaking “as a person of faith who believes we have all have been called to serve our fellow men and women and to honor God’s creation.”

“We can either settle for the world as it is, or we can fight and struggle for the world as it should be,” she said.

It doesn’t seem as though anyone in the mainstream media asked the obvious question: If the candidate’s wife felt it was important to be with her children this week, and that’s why she was unable to pay her respects at the 9/11 ceremony, why did she spend yesterday campaigning in two states?

  144. wbboei,

I am sickened by the financial meltdown sparked by the sub-prime mortgage crisis.
I was lucky enough to sell my NJ home when i became ill and had to stop working. It was just at the time when the sub-prime mess was surfacing. if I had waited another month to sell I wouldn’t have found a buyer. Houses in the town where I lived are now on the market for 40% less than they were when i got out. I just missed losing everything because of the negligence of the financial institutions, the banking industry, the hedge-funds, the bundlers and the Tony Rezkos of the world. It is beyond disgusting. And BO has close associations with some of the people who profited the most from real estate fraud.

  145. CountTheVotes Says:

    ———————————————
Skmf: I know how you feel. Hillary is doing what she has to do to surive. The media is trying to destroy her, because if Obama is shot down they will need people to blame.

If you look at Obamas acutal voting record, and the fact that women in his office are paid significantly less than men it becomes obvious that he does not stand for Democratic principles.

I had lunch today with a mccain guy and he asked me about this. I told him what members do in the privacy of the voting booth is their business and that includes Tom who is a stand up guy in my book.

Your union wanted Hillary to be their partner in rebuilding this country. It did not happen. The concern now is he will sink our ship if he is elected. So dont be too discouraged. People do not follow their union leaders in lock step and you can always remind them of what Tom said to them about Obamas failure to protect maytag jobs. I just would be discreet about it.

It’s kinda unfair. Lou Dobbs is very bright and the rest of TV newsreaders and talking heads are not on the air because of their brains. Lou went from a public High School in small town Idaho to Harvard and earned a degree in Economics. Lou didn’t get to Harvard because of family connections, money or being a “legacy”..He did it the old fashioned way…and it shows.

  151. Interesting but not surprising..What would expect from an NPD/sociopath:

“In the RNC sending, the Republican Party and the RNC are mentioned 24 times in the letter and another 12 times on the donation coupon. In addition, the letter mentions Democrats 7 times, 4 of which use the locution “Obama Democrats” anf three of which juxtapose “liberal” with “Democrat”.

In the Obama sending, there is no mention of the Democratic Party, the DNC (except possibly a small code with the letters “DNC” as part of the code at the edge of the payment coupon), or of Obama and/or Biden’s political affiliation. The word “Republican” is used once, on the last page of the letter.”

  152. WBBOEI,

yes tom is a stand up guy, he fought hard against obama, i dont get this whole, forget our principle thing… i just dont… but thank you…

i will just do my own thing, but they will be wanting me to phone bank and canvass the precincts soon, as i have always done… i see a fight coming…
i expect to be in many confrontations soon…

  153. SHV, that’s probably because:

    1. They’re hoping we’d forget the DNC
    2. The DNC are in transition to become the ONC
    3. If you haven’t heard, the ONC will be the Obama National Committee
    4. They are putting the real Democrats to shame

    2. the real Obama information

    ——————————————–
UNCONSTITUTIONAL BAILOUT OF FANNIE MAE, FREDDY MAC:

WHY HILLARY HAD TO BE STOPPED!

    By: Harley Schlanger

    Sept. 9, 2008

The trillion-dollar bailout announced by Secretary of the Treasury

Hank Paulson on Sunday demonstrates why Wall Street financiers,

such as George Soros and Felix Rohatyn, were so committed to driving

Sen. Hillary Clinton from the presidential race, and giving the

nomination to the unqualified and unelectable Sen. Barack Obama.

Throughout her campaign, Sen. Clinton repeatedly emphasized her

commitment to defend the living standards of those in the lower

80% of family-income brackets, which are being crushed by the housing

collapse, high energy and food prices, the increasingly unaffordable

cost of health care and college tuition, and the loss of jobs due

to free trade. She also questioned whether deregulation has gone

too far, saying that she was prepared to look into this.

The collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is not primarily related

to the popping of the housing bubble, though that is a significant

factor. The real crisis, which Paulson is actually addressing, is

the bankruptcy of the financial system as a whole. Fannie and

Freddie were instruments through which massive liquidity was pumped,

into the banks, investment houses, and hedge funds, to cover the

massive losses from mortgage-backed securities, but also from

financial derivatives and other instruments, which were the product

of what Greenspan called “financial innovation.”

Instead of putting these financial institutions through an orderly

bankruptcy reorganization, as President Franklin D. Roosevelt did

immediately, after his inauguration, making the speculators pay,

while protecting the people, Paulson’s “plan” will place the debt

on the people, while bailing out the speculators — including many

speculators and financial predators who backed the nomination of

    Sen. Obama!

The various instruments of “financial innovation,” which provided

mega-profits to speculators and financial predators like Soros and

Rohatyn, were made possible only by the thorough DEREGULATION of

banking, and financial markets. The deregulation began under

Presidents Reagan and Bush, Sr., but was completed under President

Clinton, at the time when he was politically emasculated by the

Lewinsky affair, and the drive for his impeachment. Both Bill and

Hillary, as well as their chief financial advisor Robert Rubin,

were unhappy with what they considered excessive deregulation.

In fact, prior to the drive for impeachment, both Bill Clinton

and Rubin were discussing the urgency of establishing a new,

global “financial architecture,” to replace the already collapsing

globalized free trade world economy, which would include

re-regulation. Rubin went on record, during the Asian financial

crisis of 1997, saying that, “I wouldn’t spend a nickel to help

    private investors or private creditors.”

The collapsing system survived through the late Clinton years and

the Bush presidency, only by Greenspan’s foolish use of Fannie,

Freddie, and the money-generating capabilities of the Federal Reserve,

to create a series of financial, speculative bubbles (remember the

IT/Y2K bubble, then the housing bubble?).

This globalized system is now going through its last stage. Now,

the speculators are demanding of their collaborators, like Paulson

and Bernanke, one last fling (commodity speculation, perhaps

supplemented by forcing Russia to “open” its economy, especially its

raw material and natural resource reserves, to being looted), funded

by the government takeover of Fannie and Freddie, to pump liquidity

into the system. This liquidity, to bailout the bad debts held by

commercial banks, investment banks, hedge funds and assorted private

equity funds (like the Carlyle Group), will be generated at the

expense of the U.S. taxpayer, and will do nothing to help those

millions of Americans — many of whom voted for Sen. Clinton — who

are being devastated by this economic collapse. This will add at

least $5-plus trillion to the national debt, up to more than $20

    trillion!———————————————-

  157. I hope the Obamans had nothing to do with Charlie Rangel’s problems.

I say that because there is a perception — incorrect as it may be — that there is a problem with AA politicians. Kwame Kilpatrick, William Jefferson, and now Rangel have something superficial in common but is noticeable. There will be those who will wrongly attribute their behaviour to their race.

So far, he’s got a generational war among AAs, and a competency/integrity war in the Dem party.

    Obama’s teleprompter hits the trail

It appears Barack Obama’s teleprompter is hitting the campaign trail.

The Democratic presidential nominee has never tried to hide the fact he delivers speeches off the device, though normally he doesn’t use one at standard campaign rallies and town hall events.

But the Illinois senator used a teleprompter at both his Colorado events Monday — making for a particularly peculiar scene in Pueblo, where the prompter was set up in the middle of what is normally a rodeo ring.

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/13434.html

    The “hopemonger” is gone.

Barack Obama sounds more like a man trying to shake a rain cloud these days, dispensing a teeth-clenching, I-get-your-pain stump speech in town after town that offers only snippets of the unbridled optimism that long permeated his campaign pitch.

Beginning in the days before his party’s convention, the inspirational has given way to the traditional: attacks on John McCain, a register of policy prescriptions and partisan language with the sting of a needle.

Over the summer, Obama would often simply say that he and McCain “fundamentally disagree” on key issues. In New Hampshire on Saturday, Obama said the Arizona senator “doesn’t get it. He doesn’t know what is going on your lives. He is out of touch with the American people.”

The poetic defenses of hope, the playful jokes about being a distant relative of Vice President Cheney and the glancing attention to policy have been replaced by an emphasis on economic fears — an issue-by-issue argument of why the American dream is slipping away and the Republican ticket has no plan to rescue it. He furrows his brow, wags his finger and broadcasts exasperation at the idea that a 26-year veteran of Washington is co-opting his mantra of change.

The Obama campaign has even replaced the wistful slogan, “Change We Can Believe In,” with the more imperative “Change We Need.”

  192. this made me laugh

wbboei, it’s not that the Republican Party does a better job of picking a candidate, it’s that they DON’T PICK HIM/HER. They let the people do that. And the people always have a better idea of who can win, and what the needs of the country are.

Rangel Defies Pelosi and Wall St.

September 15, 2008 : Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY), the chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee tonight shot back at Wall Street, the New York Times, the Murdoch press and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, by defiantly refusing to step down from his chairmanship. Wall Street has been on an all-out drive to unseat Rangel from the chairmanship of the tax-writing committee, since he refused to cave in to Treasury Department pressure months ago, to give Sec. Paulson a free hand to bail out the entire bankrupt financial system, at taxpayers expense.

Sources on Capitol Hill had reported last week that the demand by House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH), that Rangel step down from the Ways and Means chairmanship, while a series of ethics probes were conducted, would not have been pressed, had it not been known that Nancy Pelosi was also out to unseat Rangel……..

Beyond disgusting, its a let them eat cake moment and not the smartest thing to be doing right now.

The nation’s financials may be in a spiral, but cash is flowing into the Obama campaign faster than Marvin Hamlisch can play “Niagara”!

Yesterday, Obama declared how we are in “the most serious financial crisis since the Great Depression.”

Today he will host a dinner in Beverly Hills — costing attendees $28,500 dollars each!

Hundreds of high rollers, including some of the biggest executives in film, television and music, will munch gourmet chow and hang out with the candidate.

Streisand will then sing at the five-star Beverly Wilshire, no doubt reviving the Depression-era standard “Happy Days Are Here Again” with new urgency.

Obama is set to break a single-day fundraising record of $9 million.

Tuesday’s events in Tinseltown come after Obama racked up a record-breaking $66 million dollars in fundraising last month, beating his previous high mark of $55 million last winter.

“The fundamentals of our economy are strong, but these are still very, very difficult times,” rival McCain said, sunny-side up.

“Sen. McCain, what economy are you talking about?” smiled Obama.

Gee, snobbing around with all these rich folks, it appears that Obama is ‘out of touch’ with struggling folks in this economy. He probably figures they’re bitter folks who cling to guns and religion anyway (THANK YOU SARAH PALIN). Obama is quite the different beast when he’s hanging out with his rich West Coast buddies.

  200. How do you dress those two opposites to the people starving.

    Democrats Face Historic Voter Hurdle

For a while, it appeared to many that Barack Obama might be able to expand the traditional limits of Democratic appeal and break through the 50% ceiling. But despite all the polling done by Rasmussen Reports and others this season, he has not yet broken through that barrier.

Still, for much of the year, it seemed like a Democrat winning 49% or 50% of the vote should be able to capture the White House. After all, the GOP was fragmented and less than thrilled with their nominee. So, if a Ron Paul or a Bob Barr picked up two or three percent of the vote, many expected that McCain would be doomed.

Now, with the addition of Alaska’s conservative governor, Sarah Palin, to the ticket, McCain has succeeded in uniting his party and ramping up its enthusiasm. In fact, it now seems that Hillary Clinton, an unsuccessful contender for the Democratic presidential nomination, might drain a point or so of support from Obama. That appears to be as likely as Libertarian Party candidate Barr grabbing a few votes from McCain.

If the Democrats have an historic ceiling around 50% and the GOP is united, those fundamentals suggest a toss-up, and that’s what we have in the country today.

  205. moon,

    i agree.
And the more lenient sentences fro JSD’s under 16 needs to be reworked.
I had a 14 year old kid whose parents I’d called coz he was nasty and obnoxious stop me in the corridor one day and say, “hey you called my parents and got me in trouble. They took my gun away.” If I had said well, they didn’t take mine i woulda been locked up. I had an 8 year old punch me in the eye and almost lost sight in that eye. Another couplea kids, 11 and 12, threatened me with baseball bats in a playground as I was leaving for the day and later damaged my car. And these incidents all happened in NJ.

  206. Its getting worse for Obama in NJ

TRENTON, N.J. – Two presidential race polls out Tuesday indicate Republican John McCain has cut into Barack Obama’s lead in New Jersey.

According to a Quinnipiac University poll, McCain has narrowed his 10-point gap of a month ago to just 3 percentage points among likely voters, with 48 percent saying they favor Obama to 45 percent supporting McCain.

A Monmouth University/Gannett New Jersey poll has Obama’s lead at 8 percentage points among likely voters, down from 14 points in July. In the most recent poll, Obama leads McCain 49 percent to 41 percent, with McCain having picked up 5 percent of undecided voters since the July poll.

  207. Holy shit. I think McCain just declared war on Wall Street, and this is going to get UUUUUGLY.

He just said on GMA that the current problems in the banking and financial markets are directly linked to corruption in Washington. He wants to appoint a 9/11 style commission on what exactly has happened. and why.

The money boys and the congresscritters in bed with them, Dem or Repub, are NOT going to like that.

  208. Good, its about time they got exposed, i think he’s hinting at the money Obama’s been taking from Lehmans, exelon and all that. Obama likes to pretend he does not take money, well lets shine the spotlight.

McCain is playing it right, thats what the public want to see, they are angry and want to see something done about it.

What can Obama say to that, No there should not be an investigation?

McCain put him on the spot. Lets see how he reacts.

  209. “Yesterday, Obama declared how we are in “the most serious financial crisis since the Great Depression.”

Today he will host a dinner in Beverly Hills — costing attendees $28,500 dollars each!”

And Obama has the nerve to say that McCain is out of touch?” 😉

  210. moon, I would love to see McCain and our Hill come out jointly and back doing a full 9/11 style investigation of what happened to push this free-for-all in the financial markets, and who was behind it.

    That would blow some minds.

  211. Obama makes gaffe of epic proportions.

    collinsreport.net/

On financial crisis a confused Obama blames Biden for “Shredding consumer protections”

Sometimes it seems that the Barack Obama/Joe Biden campaign is a contest between the two of them to see who can make a dumber gaffe.

Last week we saw Joe Biden asking a local Democrat confined to a wheelchair to “Stand up Chuck!” When he realized he had committed yet another Bidenism, Joe asked the silent staring man, “Can you tell I’m new at this?” This from a man in his sixth term in the Senate. Biden followed up with an opinion that Obama should have picked Hillary Clinton instead of him.

These peeks into the slow moving brain of the Senator from Delaware aside, Barack Obama’s gaffes have been still more damaging.

Recently Obama claimed membership in the Senate’s Banking Committee. He described how “My committee.. just this past week.. [passed a bill]… for divestment from Iran as a way of ratcheting up the pressure to ensure that they don’t obtain a nuclear weapon.”

Of course this was a clumsy pander to Jewish voters, but it is still worse. Obama is not a member of the Senate Banking Committee. In political speak he misspoke, but he lied. Either way he showed he still doesn’t understand the Senate, because it’s above his pay grade.

Nevertheless, Obama topped himself commenting on our financial crisis. Obama said, “Eight years of policies that have shredded consumer protections; have brought us to the most serious financial crisis since the Great Depression.”

Obviously Obama is blaming the Democrat controlled Senate Anti trust Competition and Consumer Rights sub committee. Throughout Obama’s brief stay in the Senate Joe Biden has been a member of this committee, but maybe Obama doesn’t know that. He doesn’t know which committees he’s on. Why should he know Biden’s committees?. All of this seems to be above Obama’s pay grade…

Ah, the teleprompter king. I thought he was doing his tennis match thingy yesterday on the trail and now this explains it. What a joke. He is definitely losing it.

I am sitting in cold SF for the last two days and did not fight with any obamabot on the flight (like last time). I want to see them eat crow on election night. We can’t forget these are the same people who gave us Bush and the Iraq war.

It is difficult to make good decisions because it seems that everyone has an agenda that is in addition to the policy position. Here is an article on expanded off shore drilling from Scientific American Mag…From my reading, the key points are 1) Expanded drilling won’t affect prices in 2030..2 )Estimated reserves in the “new” oil fields is 18 billion barrels 3 )estimated untapped reserves in areas already available for drilling is 89 billion barrels 4) the stock price of oil companies is sustained by their oil reserves and not by how much of it that is developed or pumped 5) so by expanding the off shore areas that can be drilled in the future and thus expanding the oil companies reserves the stock price goes up…Who benefits from that????

    http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=can-offshore-drilling-make-us-independent

  217. SHV, the solution to that is to do it like Palin did in Alaska. She stopped the oil companies from holding leases on reserves that were not being used.

She took a “use it or lose it” approach – if you are not drilling, your lease expires.

This is one reason that Big Oil hates her.

  218. SHV,
In a way getting sick saved me from the ever-worsening atmosphere in urban schools. It was bad when I left, a year and a half ago. With the BO campaign and the emphasis on racism I can only imagine it must be horrendous, now.

Problem is, administrators can’t find enough qualified AA applicants because they either don’t have the necessary certifications or they refuse to work in those schools. In the meantime, many non-AA teachers are having their reputations and careers ruined because of escalating charges of racism from parents and kids. Just as in the campaign the DNC refused to back HRC against blatant sexism, administrators won’t defend their staff against false accusations of racism.

I’ll bet that with all the new racist words in the vocabulary, even the kindergarten teachers are having second thoughts about using fairy tales and nursery rhymes to teach their kids

McCain to appear at Clinton conference; Obama to speak via satellite

Bill Clinton just released the program for his annual Clinton Global Initiative, a New York conference that coincides with the United Nations General Assembly and typically draws an international A-list of speakers and guests.

John McCain will appear at the event in person, while Obama addresses it via satellite.

“Both United States presidential candidates will have a role in the Annual Meeting. Senator John McCain will deliver the opening remarks live at the “Integrated Solutions: water, food and energy” plenary session,” says the press release.

The event, which carries a hefty price tag for guests, includes a revival-style conclusion, at which business leaders come on stage to make pledges to charities.

This year’s attendees are expected to include, along with the two candidates, Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Afghan President Hamid Karzai, and the presidents of Mexico, Rwanda, Libera, and other countries. Also expected: former Vice President Al Gore, oilman T. Boone Pickens, and Ukrainian oligarch Victor Pinchuk.

  220. basil — the 20 point electoral lead is just the solid McC or O states. Then there are the leading ones. And then the tossup.

    It really is a tossup.

If McC can win VA or CO or WI or MI or NV and NH, it could be fine.

I think that this will be her last year. She is one of those teachers who can get her fourth graders who are scoring at below k-level up to or beyond grade. Two years ago she was told that she was “too white and too old to be teaching AA children”. In order to prove the point she was assigned most of the children that were below grade and disciplinary problems. At the end of the year, her fourth grade was #1 on the eval. exam. After that experience, she bitched so much that they equalized the classes and now only 1/2 of this years class score at k or below. I wouldn’t last an hour in that environment but she considers herself successful if two or three of her students eventually “makes it”. Years later those few will come back to see her and thank her..I couldn’t do it.

  222. SHV,

I refuse to do it anymore. 👿

freckles, I didn’t realize that about the 20 point lead.

Admin, and as usual BO can’t make time to attend.

  223. I should add that my teacher friend is getting “feed back” from her fourth grade students that there will be trouble following the election. Either “happy trouble” ala “we won the super bowl” or angry trouble that “we” lost. The “creative class” has been striking the “racism” match over an open can of gasoline for six months and it will explode Nov. 5.

  224. ARG has for the first time McCain taking the lead 48% to 45%

Gallup Holding steading at 47% to 45% for McCain

Rassmussen has McCain 48% to 47%

  225. admin, Bambi is too chicken to stand on a stage with either Big Dawg or McCain.

He’s phoning it in, while the adults do the real work, as usual.

  226. Here’s a little funny that I picked up on another site:

Mike (?) on MSNBC just had a great quote. “Barack Obama is the Democratic Dog Food they’re not buying. They walk up, take a sniff, but leave it in the bowl.” —

What a great analogy! and from MSNBC — Barack Obama is Dog Food. hahahahaha

  227. I don’t understand this line from the Rasmussen article.

In fact, it now seems that Hillary Clinton, an unsuccessful contender for the Democratic presidential nomination, might drain a point or so of support from Obama.

Is it referring to write-in votes?

  228. pm317:

Defeat the Media . If we let Obama win, they have succeeded with their despicable behavior. I want to see them eat crow on election night. We can’t forget these are the same people who gave us Bush and the Iraq war.

YUP, and lobby McCain/Palin to pledge to reform the media.

Obviously, if BO wins, the media will continue to be out of control – he will owe them.

  229. Is it referring to write-in votes?

Yes. Rasmussen is referring to write in votes for Clinton. It must be showing up in his daily tracking poll. Probably people volunteering her name when asked who they will vote for. They get officially recorded as “other”, but Rasmussen must be seeing a consistently notable number.

    &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Paula, that must be what they mean.

Of the HRC supporters, when we last heard (about 2-3 weeks ago, so there’s bound to be some fluctuations, but in which directions?):
    51% to vote for Obama
    27% to vote for McCain
    21% to “do other”.

This last category could mean voting for a third party, staying home out of disgust or lack of interest, or writing in __________. Jerry Garcia and Mickey Mouse usually get a handful of votes, but I fully expect “Hillary Rodham Clinton” to easily output Garcia and MM put together this year. It’s for those who can’t stand Obama, but have real problems voting for either this Republican, or any Republican ever.

I will vote Rep. for the first time in my life.

I just got Howard Dean’s money begging letter in the mail, and I will send it back with “Donation amount: Other __0__. And I’ll use their letter to hand write in my response that as a long time Dem, I do not feel that they behaved as the Democratic party I believed them to be and need them to be.

  231. Funny, that one or two point write-in might just tip the election, in addition to McCain crossover voters. Just one key state.

Then the Dean/Brazile/Pelosi cabal will blame Hillary, tarring her as the Ralph Nader election stealer of 2008.

But by then, they’ll have the last shred of credibility vaporized.

“Pelosi and her lot”? I thought Rangel was a good guy so the bots were going after him in revenge?

  233. I miss Hillary – someone on RD posted:

Just saw HRC on GMA: I loooooooooooove her…

To hear her, in her iconic way, talking in specifics about what is going on with the economy right now…nobody does it better.

    D. Sawyer asked her about the political situation, and McCaskill’s comments about McCain’s age and health. She refused to go there, bringing it back to “a choice between what the Democrats offer and what the Republicans offer.” She even went further: “Frankly, I don’t think we should be focused on the VP candidate on the other side. This goes way beyond one candidate.”

She also deftly avoided the question about PUMA’s. Sawyer asked about the 17% of her supporters who will vote McCain, “what does BO have to do?” HRC: “He’s doing it. He’s talking to them about the economy, and what people are concerned about.”

She’s a pro. And I miss her dearly.

  234. I meant Pelosi and her gang will be infighting. Just because Rangel supported Hillary does not make him a good guy.

He’s admitted underpaying taxes and not declaring over 100K worth of income, if that was you or us, we’d be in jail now and this guy is the charman of the taxes committee. Ridiculous. He makes the dems look even worse.

  235. What is it lately with all these AA politicians getting done for corruption, its not helping Obama one bit overcome the black candidate label.

Jefferson, Rangel, Kilpatrick and others i forgot all in trouble. Then it won’t help him either to have a high profile black case in the media of OJ in the dock again. Like it or not, people do connect these things and its very racist but it couldnt come at a worse time for Obama.

    Another point agaisnt write-in.

Others being that the bots will probably be countng the votes and can count it any way they want to. Imo hte safest thing is to vtoe for some name on the ballot.

Unfortunately, that’s kind of unconstitutional. Imo it’s a job for private investors: start some competition. Fox has done well. The Clintons and/or super rich supporters should statt direct competition wiht at lesat the online MSM.

Thinking over candidates the media hve trashed in the past — Goldwater, Bill Clinton, Gore, Hillary, now Palin, are all effective reformers.Maybe it’s not their ideology that sets off the media, but the money corruption that everyone agrees on.

Counterexamples would be early Nixon and Quayle. Dunno if Ferroro (or Mondale/Ferroro) were strong reform.

  238. OMG, if this has been posted, excuse me.

Biden’s latest gaffe: “Americans in small towns are not used to someone as smart as Obama.”

After that, a woman calls Palin “a bucket of fluff.” Biden looks embarrassed and turns away.

  239. Cue the infighting. Obama promised all these guys money to help them win and get support away from Hillary and he’s now thrown them under the bus now he has the nomination over Hillary. Don’t say you were not warmed Dems SD’s and party, Obama cannot be trusted and he’s screwed you all.

As I keep saying, whenever a poll counts the stayhomes at all, Hil’s supporters break down about that same way — HOLDING STEADY EVER SINCE EARLY JUNE. Exit polls in the primaries showed a lot of Hil voters not suporting Obama but I don’t know if any of the exit polls broke down stayhomes vs voting for McCain. Cites and details at turndownobama.com also it links to my diary at clintondems.com about polls holding steady.

They can blame Hillary, the pope, the illimniati, bull connor, george washington carver, cromwell, thomas acquinas, manson, or marsha clark.

The operative question is will they be believed or will it be transparently obvious that they did it all by themselves-led the party over a cliff.

I think if the republicans win-and particularly if they win big I think the unholy trimuverate you mention will have no standing to blame others.

I dont seem to recall that Nader ever campaigned for Gore, before or after the convention. Neither did his spouse. For reasonable minds this is a bridge too far. I think it was John Milton who said success has many fathers but failure is an orphan.
