History Lessons For Eggheads

Lots of substance going on (besides the Friday swamp of lies from the Edwards familiy and campaign which attacked Hillary’s character during the primaries).

Before we begin our brief history lesson we must note that the tires on the fake unity wagon are deflating. Speeches and speech nights are not enough. The rickety unity wagon is lying by the side of the road, not moving, stalled in Chicago mud.

Stories and videos on pro-Hillary websites posted days, if not weeks ago, are finally reported by Big Media as if they are fresh news. NObama, NOvember is getting Noticed.

We Hillary supporters are demanding a roll call vote. If Obama/Dean/Brazile/Pelosi waterboard Hillary into rejecting Hillary’s very own, clearly stated, desire to have a roll call vote that will still not prevent Hillary delegates from voting for her. An Iron Curtain Dictators type vote by acclamation to select Obama will be seen as the deceptive fake unity it is. Every Hillary vote will therefore be a profile in courage and a major embarrassment to Obama/Dean/Brazile/Pelosi and their rikety fake unity mirage.

In the next few days we will attempt to catalog (please send information to admin@HillaryIs44.org) pro-Hillary, NObama events taking place during the next several weeks. There are many events and efforts being organized now in battleground states and in Denver which need assistance if they are to come to fruition. At the same time we will continue our Herculean efforts to keep track of the major Obama gaffes and major Obama flip-flops and major Obama flim-flams.

Briefly, we will note the efforts by To Get Her 4 Us .org (they have a petition, please consider signing the petition) and the heroic Ricki Lieberman. Ricki Lieberman works with Together4us.org and also authors the invaluable Electability Watch newsletter. To receive Ricki’s newsletter email Ricki at rrlieberma@gmail.com.

Please help Ricki with her efforts contacting delegates. Recall when certain websites were laughing at Ricki and insisting that Hillary was repudiating Ricki and her efforts? The ridiculous headlines on these websites was Clinton Distances Herself From Anti-Obama Hillraiser. We defended Ricki then and laughed at her detractors. Today, Ricki has a good laugh at her detractors’ expense:

This evening at a “thank you, Hillraisers” event, Senator Clinton told me how honored she is by the people who are working to have her name put into nomination and appreciative of those signing the petition. So, like the proverbial laser, I am focusing on getting Hillary’s name in nomination and nominated in Denver. This means zooming in on the decision makers and the opinion makers with thoughtful, persuasive communications. Please help in any way you can!

On to our History Lessons For Eggheads.

In the summer of 2001, a few weeks before the 9/11 disaster, George W. Bush was on another of his all too frequent vacations. Ned Lamont went on vacation to Maine after winning the Connecticut Democratic primary for Senate from Joe Lieberman. Bush was vacationing instead of preparing against Bin Laden; Ned Lamont was vacationing instead of campaigning; Joe Lieberman won. Today Obama follows once again the George W. Bush/Lamont template and goes on vacation to Hawaii and tries to avoid the Edwards swamp.

Hillary and John McCain remain hard at work.

With polls showing him neck-and-neck with John McCain at a stage at which many Democrats expected he would be in the clear lead, they worry about the kind of stray image that helped to defeat John Kerry in 2004.

In a piece of footage endlessly recycled to mock his supposed elitism and even foreignness, Mr Kerry was caught on camera windsurfing off Massachusetts. Since Mr Obama is taking his holiday at a private beach house in Hawaii, surrounded by the secret service, campaign officials worry less about his exposure to the paparazzi. Besides, they say, most Americans will be tuned into the Olympics.

Hillary Clinton and John McCain are on the job. Obama is hiding behind security walls and Olympic coverage. Obama’s grandmother is still struggling under the bus. Obama supporter John Edwards displays his lack of judgement. Superdelegates are in denial.

Donna Brazile: A new Democratic coalition is younger. It is more urban, as well as suburban, and we don’t have to just rely on white blue-collar voters and Hispanics.

David Axelrod: The white working class has gone to the Republican nominee for many elections, going back even to the Clinton years. This is not new that Democratic candidates don’t rely solely on those votes.

The rantings above by Brazile and Axelrod are inspired by theories espoused by Jude Judis and Ruy Teixeira about the emerging Democratic majority. The basic premise is that African-Americans and young voters and liberals are the new Democratic majority. The old FDR coaltion is, for these strategists, too old and too out of fashion.

The Creative Class, as the nutroots flatteringly call themselves, love the snakeoil of an emerging Democratic majority that does not have to bother with the majority of the country – white and particularly white working class voters. The dream of the nutroots, er, excuse us, the Creative Class is that Democrats can’t win white working class voters and other groups so just chuck them out of the way and come up with some new formula to win. In other words stop competing and get a gimmick. Gypsy Rose Lee would be proud.

The Creative Class buys fully into these quack ‘avoid the voters’ schemes. Judis and Teixeira are smart good guys but their analysis is flawed and is employed by mindless Obama incense burners to justify their ‘destroy the winning FDR coalition’ nonsense. Teixeira and Judis published The Emerging Democratic Majority just as September 11, 2001 approached. Democrats have been waiting for the emerging majority for a long time. Like a losing baseball team sloganeers, “wait till next year“. Like end of the world evangelists the goal posts move when victory did not come in 2004.

There are many flaws in the Judis/Texeira analysis. There is also the PINO/DINO problem. What would a Democratic majority mean if Democrats are the ones who approve FISA and John Roberts and oil drilling and no gun control, and run away from pro-choice advocates?

Yesterday, the senior United States Senator from New York, Charles Schumer, was interviewed by Politico.

Schumer argues in a new preface to his book that Americans’ economic insecurity could make 2008 a re-aligning landslide.

“This election has the potential to effect the kind of paradigm-shifting change that occurs once in a generation,” he writes, comparing the vote to Franklin Roosevelt’s rise in 1932 and Ronald Reagan’s in 1980. “If it’s decided by issue and policy offerings, this election might just be the one that creates a political majority for a generation.”

Senator Schumer is someone we generally strongly agree with (sometimes strongly disagree with too). Chuck Schumer is generally one of the good guys. No elected official wanted Hillary Clinton elected President more than Chuck (O.K. some of the reasons were a bit self-interested, but we forgive him).

The senior senator from New York is right that the 2008 election could be a “paradigm-shifting” election. But that is true only if Hillary Clinton is the Democratic Party nominee.

The key clause in the Chuck Schumer analysis: “If it’s decided by issue and policy offerings“. With Hillary Clinton as the nominee the election will be decided by issue and policy offerings. Truly universal health care and passionate policy positions are Hillary’s forte. Hillary also does not run away from white working class voters.

With Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee Democrats could finally heal the breach caused by the 1964 Civil Rights Act and create a true coaltion of FDR’s white working class voters and Lyndon Johnson’s African-American voters as well as bring in a permanently aligned with Democrats Latino community – and women. {We wrote about healing the breach HERE.]

Obama though is selling his fictional biography as a reason for the nomination and election. Fictional biographies can blow up in your face – ask John Edwards (the confession is HERE). Ask Milli-Vanilli.

No doubt Obama with his broth of faked celebrity biographical offerings easily wins the battle for pasting his face on magazine covers. Idolatry is the Obama ideology. Internet temples of Obama worship, incense thickly perfuming the chant filled air, praise Obama, not his policy. The Kerry’s and the Sullivans and the rest of the all male priesthood worship Obama’s face.

But Democrats have taken the Obama path before. Think of the wonderful Adlai Stevenson – who lost big.

Although Stevenson’s eloquent oratory and thoughtful, stylish demeanor thrilled many intellectuals and members of the nation’s academic community, the Republicans and some working-class Democrats ridiculed what they perceived as his indecisive, aristocratic air. During the 1952 campaign Stewart Alsop, a powerful Connecticut Republican and the brother of newspaper columnist Joseph Alsop, labeled Stevenson an “egghead“, based on his baldness and intellectual air. Alsop used the word in a column describing Stevenson’s problems in wooing working-class voters and the nickname stuck. His running mate was Senator John Sparkman of Alabama. In the 1952 presidential election against Dwight D. Eisenhower, Stevenson lost heavily outside the Solid South; he won only nine states and lost the Electoral College vote 442 to 89.

Does that not sound familiar, Superdelegates?

How about this familiar sounding disaster, Superdelegates:

Stevenson again won the nomination at the 1956 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, aided by strong support from younger delegates, who were said to form the core of the “New Politics” movement.

We are in no way attacking Adlai Stevenson. We respect him but Adlai lost. He lost. That loss had consequences for poor Americans.

The Eggheads unfortunately are at it again. In 2008 they call themselves the Creative Class. There is nothing funny about the damage these self-infatuated Eggheads have wrought through the years. There are Eggheads in both parties. But in the Democratic Party the Eggheads are the harbringers of doom. When the Eggheads solidify for a candidate – watch out.

Adlai Stevenson to his credit recognized the Egghead, er, Creative Class of yesteryear was not enough to win. The Eggheads supporting Obama, their enablers, and the Superdelegates should remember Democrats need a majority to win.

Stevenson’s wit was legendary. During one of Stevenson’s presidential campaigns, allegedly, a supporter told him that he was sure to “get the vote of every thinking man” in the U.S., to which Stevenson is said to have replied, “Thank you, but I need a majority to win.”

  1. If I were Elizabeth, he’d be out that door right now. What kind of man cheats on his dying wife and then lies about it and then make her do a presidential run. Actually, She should have stopped him, the question is why didnt she?

  2. So who leaked those memos? Another way for the DNC to smear the Clintons, get rid of them for good, blame them for Obama’s failures?

  3. We hope someone bothers to read today’s article. It’s a bit dense but is important.

Obviously, we now know why Obama flew the coop this coming week. The Edwards scandal will dominate the headlines.

Among some issues: Apparently Elizabeth knew back in 2006; Edwards and deadbeat dads; the Edwards campaign paid for the haircut and possibly the mistress and the hush money; Edwards’ judgment is flawed including his Obama endorsement; the Edwards campaign attacked Hillary personally and on her character; cancer; small children….

Edwards owes Hillary a very big apology. Edwards owes his supporters a very big apology.

  4. To think this SOB could have been VP and then possibly Pres, makes your blood boil.

Everyone is going poor Elizabeth but I don’t understand why she agreed to a presidential campaign with all this junk in the background, its just mental.

Yes Admin you are right, Both the Edwards owe the people of the US very big apologies and quite frankly its amazing when you look at all the douchebags endorsing Obama, you get the big picture.

  5. JanH, I wouldn’t worry about it. Nobody’s getting rid of the Clintons, lol.

BTW, this is the first line in the AP Edwards story:

“Former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards on Friday admitted to an extramarital affair while his wife was battling cancer.”

That’s about as bad as it gets. And now his wife and children are publicly humiliated, too.

Like I said before, National Enquirer could have done their own DNA test since Edward ran out of the Beverly Hills Hotel maybe he left his sweaty t-shirt and they dug in the trash and got the baby’s dirty diaper….whatever.

But you know that National Enquirer has videos and more photos and their threat to release it during the Democratic? Taliban Party convention might still happen.

Interesting isn’t it? Obama is on vacation and Hillary is working in Nevada, who looks more Presidential…Obama or Hillary?

  7. Edwards is now officially consigned to History and goes out as a total bastard.

Edwards is going to news for cycles, the msm will be all over this like whores at a company convention. MSM wanted a megascandal and now they have a big bone to chew on and see what juices flow.

Going to be a fun 2 weeks watching how they connect the dots to the Obama campaign somehow.

  8. McCain Increases Lead Over Bambi In Key Swing State, Missouri — from Rasmussen:

    Friday, August 08, 2008

John McCain leads Barack Obama by seven percentage points in the race for Missouri’s Electoral College votes.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Missouri shows John McCain attracting 48% of the vote while Barack Obama earns 41%. This is the third time in the last four months that McCain’s support has been at 47% or 48%. The one exception came in early June—McCain’s support dipped as Obama was wrapping up the Democratic Presidential nomination.

Obama has been in the 41% to 43% range for four straight months.

Last month, McCain enjoyed a five-point lead in Missouri.

  9. He never should’ve run for president with Elizabeth having cancer anyway. but he also did so knowing this could come out???? What a narcissistic sleazebag.

Oh, and the Enquirer won’t stop pursuing this because they know he’s the baby’s father. His admission doesn’t end this mess at all.

I hope Hillary calls EE on the phone to give her support. She’ll need it.

  10. Explosive: John Edwards Admits To Affair!!!!
Posted August 8th, 2008 by fashiongossip

    His political career is OVER!
In a new interview with ABC’s Nightline, one-time Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards admits that he lied repeatedly about NOT having an affair with the woman rumored to be the mother of his illegitimate child.

The former Senator came clean today, Friday, after weeks and weeks of avoiding the allegations from The National Enquirer.
Edwards’ wife, Elizabeth, is battling terminal cancer and has not commented on this latest development.
We’re sure his kids are really proud of poppa!

Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff that e did have an affair with 42-year old videographer Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her.
As if that makes it better?????

Edwards also denied he was the father of Hunter’s baby girl, Frances Quinn, although he said he has not taken a paternity test.
Edwards claims he knew he was not the father based on timing of the baby’s birth on February 27, 2008. He said his affair ended too soon for him to have been the father.

Uhmmm, then why did he go and visit the mother and baby last week????

Edwards said his wife, Elizabeth, and others in his family became aware of the affair in 2006. Edwards made a point of saying that his wife’s cancer was in remission when he began the affair with Hunter. Elizabeth Edwards has since been diagnosed with an incurable form of the disease.

    That makes it worse, douche!!!!!

Since becoming pregnant, Hunter has lived under assumed names in a series of expensive homes in North Carolina and, more recently, in Santa Barbara, California.

Edwards denied paying any money to Hunter to keep her from going pubic but said it was possible some of his friends or supporters may have made payments without telling him.

    Shady all around!

He knows more than he’s telling!!!

    Poor Elizabeth Edwards!

  11. The thing is Edwards is making it worse, he should have said yes i had an affair and said nothing else but being the egotistical bastard spews forth information and comes across as a heartless cold bastard.

Notice everyone endorsed or involved with bambi comes to a sticky end, he is like the Midas king in reverse where everything he touches turns to shit.

  12. Edwards is a hypocrite, and Elizabeth Edwards is no exception. She knew it in 2006. These two cracked up a for-little-guy message in their basement to run for president.

It’s astonishingly hypocritical, but no surprising.

Edwards says he does not love his mistress, and their relationship ended long time ago. But why the meeting two weeks ago?

I don’t believe anything coming out of his mouth. I hope his mistress will feel enraged enough to have a tell-all press conference.

  13. Well we sure won’t have a Obama/Edwards ticket, lol. I wonder what all the Big Blog incense burners, who idolized Edwards earlier, are saying now?

The Democratic party is in total shambles, and there’s only one candidate who can save it. I think we all know who she is, too. Let’s keep fighting to get her name into nomination!

  14. The Democratic? Taliban Party still has a mess on it’s hands because everything Edwards is now saying support what the National Enquirer said and is continuing to say.

They say Edwards is Babydaddy to Hunter’s baby…so do the National Enquirer knows more then Johnny boy is saying?

I can’t wait to see what the NE do in the next two weeks….they are a weekly so that means 2 more editions to come out.

    Drip, drip, drip….WHERE”S Obama?

  15. Admin: Thank you for the history lesson. There is a lot in it, so I will read it again. Interesting, this election could be a paradigm shift, but I don’t think, it will happen, if Hillary isn’t the nominee. She brings in a larger coalition, than Egghead.

Edwards is scum. Did he run, to be a spoiler? His arrogance, probably, told him he could keep the affair under wraps. I feel bad for his family.

  16. I still reckon the Obama campaign hands are in this somewhere, it sounds just like an Axelrod move to chuck someone under a bus.

  17. This convention is turning into a complete and total fiasco. Obama wanted Edwards to speak and had promised him a high-profile speaking slot, and of course now, they can’t allow Edwards within 100 miles of Denver, he’s so toxic. Elizabeth Edwards had also been slated to speak, but now that is completely up in the air too.

  18. I’m beginning to think the Edwards, both of them are just political marriage. Why would you tolerate your husband having an affair while you were dying and then make a presidential run with him.

I’d have told him to feck right off if he’d did that to me. How much would you think your husband really loved you if he did that?

  19. Exactly, carbynew — where’s Obama? Will he now reject the endorsement of John Edwards, or will he continue to keep him on board as an advisor? Will he still be a “big part” of an Obama administration? Obama has a lot of answering to do.

  20. moononpluto Says:

I still reckon the Obama campaign hands are in this somewhere, it sounds just like an Axelrod move to chuck someone under a bus.

It wouldn’t surprise me. Maybe, the campaign did not want to give Edwards anything? Who knows, but this is a scandal.

  21. I just checked the Big Blogs and there is utter and total pandemonium about the Edwards scandal, lol

  22. Where is Nancy Pelosi, Donna Brazile and Howard Dean and the rest of those Democratic? Taliban Party Leaders at….the same Democratic stratergists that praised John “babydaddy” Edwards and slam Hillary Clinton?

  23. Birdgal, maybe JE got too big for his boots and wanted more out of Bambi than bambi was prepared to give and so he had to go. Something tells me this was all planned, if it was known about for years and not reported then someone let it out intentionally.

  24. Where is Arrianna Huffington?

I would love to see her speak about how she had so much praise regarding John Edwards and disdain for the Clintons.

GO National Enquirer, keep it going I would love to see your DNA tests….i’m just thinking out loud.

  25. So she was the campaign welcome wagon then, thats even worse, the father could be one of say several of Edwards top inner circle. Amazing what the poor folks donations were buying and i guess it was not condoms.

  26. Berkeley: Andrew Young has been claiming paternity the entire time.

moononpluto: You may be right. JE is arrogant and narcissistic enough, to have demanded more, than what they were willing to give him.

Interesting time for Waffles to take a vacation.

    JE is a cheater

    Russia has invaded Georgia

    The Olympics have started.

    Clinton memos have been linked.

The boring summer has just become more exciting.

  27. Edwards denied paying any money to Hunter to keep her from going pubic but said it was possible some of his friends or supporters may have made payments without telling him.

    PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STILL LYING.

Someone state up above. Why in the world would she want her husband to run for president when all the garbage is out about him. THEY ALL WANTED TO SPOIL THIS ELECTION FOR HILLARY. JOHN MCCAIN HERE I COME.

  28. Edwards may be in trouble here like Spitzer was, bunging money, did he do it legally or did he not pay tax on the gift, and was the rentals all legitimately paid.

There could be an absolute minefield here on tax evasion.

  29. Who was running the story on Sinclair, we might get that one verified judging by the msm standards of investigation.

  30. will the question of when did obama know about this happen? when did the arty hacks know-i bet they have known for sometime.
***what memos are u guys talking about?

  31. McCain’s strategy is to hit Obama HARD while he is on vacation and asleep at the wheel:

    By Howard Kurtz
McCain Paints Obama as a Big Taxer

The Ad: Life in the spotlight must be grand, but for the rest of us times are tough. Obama voted to raise taxes on people making just $42,000. He promises more taxes on small business, seniors, your life savings, your family. Painful taxes, hard choices for your budget. Not ready to lead. That’s the real Obama.

Analysis: This John McCain ad reprises what has become his signature theme, that Barack Obama is a celebrity with a hidden policy agenda. It opens with crowds cheering Obama and pictorial spreads on the Illinois senator in GQ, Us Weekly and Vanity Fair. But the spot quickly turns into a standard Republican attack on a Democrat as a tax-raising liberal.

The charge that Obama voted to raise taxes on people making $42,000 stretches a valid point. Obama voted for a non-binding Democratic budget resolution that would not have raised anyone’s taxes. But it did envision phasing out most of the Bush tax cuts, which would have that effect. (The McCain campaign has backed off a previous charge that Obama would boost taxes at the $31,000 level, labeled false by Factcheck.org.)

The ad is selective in saying that Obama would raise taxes on seniors and “your family,” omitting that he would target only families, Social Security recipients and those with capital gains earning more than $250,000 a year. And it is misleading in charging that Obama wants to hike taxes on small business, offering the lame explanation that many affluent taxpayers who would be affected by the income-tax increase also happen to own small businesses. The commercial also leaves out Obama’s proposal for a middle-class tax cut.

But more important than the mathematical details is the portrait the Arizona senator is trying to paint of his opponent as an untested leader whose domestic policies are obscured by the media spotlight.

  32. texan you bet and i bet there will be some hack out there who will eventually work out the Obama campaign exerted influence over Edwards with the affair and get set about linking it.

  33. admin,

    such a good article…
i see we are right back where we started from….

    but admin, lets talk…

the amazing thing, is all of the pumas, including all of us here
at 44, FEEL, this moment in history, we all know it is both the
    time, and the place…

and even more astounding, the Obots feel it too, and that is why
they believe O is the ‘ONE’…

now as you brought to our attention, adalaid is an example of
    how this might play out….
so here we are at this place and time…

WE WANT HILLARY, but she may be blocked by larger forces than
    we are able to overcome.
THE LIBERAL DEMOCRATS, feel the paradigm as well, and want
to enter in the new democratic party, for the new millenium.
MANY PUMAS, want mccain, as a default to hillary, in order to
stave off the NEW ORDER DEMOCRATIC PARTY. they are
gambling that we can safely install mccain into office,
HOLD OFF THE ‘PARADIGM’ EVENT, for another 4 years, in order
to run hillary again in 2012…

i know that if plan A doesnt work, i am going to go with plan B…
and here’s is why, I FEEL IT, I KNOW IT, i know that to put

so Admin, i know that you are against reinstalling a republican
    into the ‘high seat’…
i assume you believe that that will creat a ‘PARADIGM’, that will
turn back the power to the ‘old ways’, ‘old days’.
but Admin, going back to the old ways, is not as dangerous, as
CHANGING THE FUTURE AS WE KNOW IT, and ushering in the

  34. Edwards is scum, but he ran again because he thought he had a shot. As delusional as that sounds. But he wasn’t the establishment choice Obama was. There was an anti Hillary vote in the primaries. People who weren’t going to support HRC either because of the war vote or felt like she was too polarizing from the right wing attacks or whatever the reason. Before Hill really changed her campaign and found a winning, consistent message after February Edwards was actually helping her- he split the anti Hillary vote with BO. Looking back now Hill was never going to win Iowa & shouldn’t have put so much emphasis on that state. When she put so much time and effort into the Iowa caucuses it raised the expectations. This a long way of saying a big chunk of JE’s voters would have gone to Obama.

please let me know, i wrote a question i would like answered by
    you about this article…

  36. Who said Hillary wasn’t going to win Iowa, she would have won Iowa if Edwards wasn’t on the Ballet and Edwards took away needed resources that helped his campaign…so yes, I do believe Edwards was a spoiler for Hillary’s Campaign.

  37. what is this leaked memos thing yall are talkin about?

Someone got ahold of HRC campaign internal memo’s, saying campaign officials were all in a tither over it. It’s basically a non-story.

  38. skmf12, a quck reply:

McCain is like a rollover CD account. Some people put their money in a CD account and if they don’t know which way the economy is heading at the time the CD is due they rollover the CD. McCain will, due to his age, be the “I’m not ready to decide now so I will vote for McCain knowing he will only be president for only 4 years and then I will decide.” candidate.

As we wrote this could be a paradigm shift election if, and only if, Hillary is the nominee.

Obama is not the future he is an avoidance of the future.

Obama and the eggheads don’t want to make a strong Democratic core principle argument to white working class voters and thereby bring white working class voters into a big Democratic coalition along with blacks and latinos and gays and women and liberals and young voters and senior voters. The reason Obama/Eggheads don’t want to make the argument (think Kentucky and West Virginia) is because they know their argument will fail to get votes. Their argument will fail to get votes because Obama and the Eggheads condescend to white working class voters and white working class voters sense the Eggheads are not friends. Hillary proved, like Bill, that white working class voters see her as a friend. Hillary could bring the white working class into the Democratic big tent.

African-Americans are the mirror image of the white working class voter. Republicans like Bush can make a strong argument based on conservative social values to African-Americans in order to woo them – but African-Americans won’t vote for Republicans because they can sense the Republicans are not friends.

Democrats (Hillary is the exception) can’t get white working class voters to vote Democratic based on obvious economic interests because they are seen as condescending snobs. Republicans can’t get blacks to vote Republican based on conservative social values because blacks can sense the bigotry.

Hillary can heal the rift. Obama cannot.

Obama avoids the future, which is healing the rift. Obama wants to win by the gimmicking of votes (think how he won the caucuses) and by overwhelming McCain with money. But this is superficial. This is a gimmick.

The future is to get a genuine coalition of Democrats under the big tent based on economic interests – the FDR coalition.

McCain is a stopgap measure. Obama will destroy the future and the Democratic Party.

With McCain as president Democrats can fight him. With Obama as president Democrats will not be able to fight his flim-flams because they will be accused of being racists among other arguments.

Obama must not get the nomination and if he does get selected Obama must be defeated in NOvember. If that means McCain becomes the president then so be it and we will fight the McCain presidency with vigor.

In 2000 Democrats thought we would cross the bridge to the 21st century. That did not happen. We might have to wait another 4 years to cross that bridge.

Hillary is the future of the country and the Party.

BREAKING NEWS: Direct Connection Between Barack Obama and John Edwards’ Love Child
    Posted by hillbuzz under Uncategorized
    No Comments

IMPORTANT: CNN made a critical error today — it stated several times on the air that CNN has obtained Frances Quinn Hunter’s birth certificate, which lists no father. Let’s break this down, and show how it proves a serious and deliberate media bias in Obama’s favor:

    (1) Frances Quinn Hunter is the daughter of Rielle “Lisa Druck” Hunter, John Edwards’ mistress.

    (2) CNN obtained Frances Quinn Hunter’s birth certificate.

    (3) TexasDarlin, an excellent blogger and investigative online reporter, has raised serious questions about the authenticity of Obama’s birth certificate, and by extension his eligibility for the presidency.

    (4) The media claims it cannot obtain a copy of Obama’s birth certificate.

    (5) If CNN obtained a copy of Frances Quinn Hunter’s birth certificate, why is CNN unable to obtain a copy of Obama’s birth certificate?

    (6) Why are reporters able to find the birth certificate of a baby girl possibly fathered by a former two-time (and two-timing) presidential candidate, but are unable to obtain the birth certificate of the presumptive (and presumptuous) Democratic nominee for president?

Can anyone out there make some noise and get Question (6), in particular, answered? It was the blogging community that forced the Edwards Bathroom-Hiding Love Child story into the open, despite the media’s every effort to keep this bottled up to protect Obama.

The blogging community can, also, get to the bottom of the Obama birth certificate mystery, if it applies equal force and attention to solving this mystery too.

TexasDarlin can’t do this alone — as fabulous and talented as she is.

  40. h t t p : / / http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/us_elections/article4488714.ece

The rumours have been seized on by internet bloggers for months, and have become the fodder of late-night comics. Yet up until now the mainstream US media have avoided the story, not least because of suspicions that it is false and that his wife Elizabeth has cancer. The editor of the Los Angeles Times ordered the paper’s bloggers to stay clear of the story because it involved “rumours and salacious speculation”.
    despicable so-called MSM.

  41. carbynew,
That was my point. At that time in the race (January) Edwards voters weren’t going to go to Hillary in the caucuses. She had been painted by both him and Obama as the Washington candidate. The one who wanted to bomb Iran, the one who took money from lobbyists, the one who wasn’t real change. Even if Edwards wasn’t there BO still was. He was making the same anti Hillary arguments as JE. Therefore many of his votes would have gone to Obama (the only viable not Hillary option). What I’m trying to say is there were a lot of very liberal, very antiwar voters in the Iowa caucuses who were not going to support Hillary. That’s partly why she was leading in most other places except Iowa. With SC I don’t think it was so much about ideology as race. After his Iowa win Obama was always going to take SC. But without Edwards HRC would have taken a bigger share of the white vote.

  42. Excellent article, Admin.

I didn’t know about the Adlai Stevenson story. Interesting.

Loved this comment: “Internet temples of Obama worship, incense thickly perfuming the chant filled air, praise Obama, not his policy. The Kerry’s and the Sullivans and the rest of the all male priesthood worship Obama’s face.”

  43. Update: Deceiver notes that Brian Ross of ABC was digging around on the story. Possibly (probably?) what happened is that ABC somehow confirmed it and went to Edwards with the evidence to give him a chance to respond before they went public. Result: A monster exclusive interview. If this is how it went down, Ross is an exception to the sort of elitism that kept big media away from a story broken by the Enquirer.

  44. Update: Good catch by Media Blog. Edwards says his family found out about the affair in 2006, but according to the December 25, 2006 issue of Newsweek, Hunter was still “under contract” with the campaign. Would he really have kept her on after he told his wife given the unbelievable awkwardness that would entail?

  45. Update: Why is it so important to Edwards to have people think the affair ended in 2006 even though, per the Media Blog item above, that’s unlikely? Spruiell explains:
Elizabeth Edwards was diagnosed with incurable cancer in late March of 2007. Rielle Hunter’s baby was born in late February of 2008. That means that if Edwards is the father, he was definitely still carrying on the affair with Hunter after he knew his wife’s cancer was back.

  46. The National Enquirer must know now that anything they fire out now will be regarded as truthful for a bit, they had it right.

    Watch out Bambi!

  47. Update: A spin unanticipated by Kaus: After resolutely failing to do its job by investigating, the media — in the person of David Shuster — decides it’s a victim here too.
There’s going to be a whole round for the next 24 to 36 hours of all the staff members who were telling all of us in the media, ‘don’t go for this garbage, the story’s complete nonsense, it’s complete bull.’ Well now these people are going to have to come out and make their round of apologies, and in the same course of doing that, in terms of their apologies to us, they’re going to rip John Edwards apart for misleading them.

  48. Update: From the comments, Tanya paraphrases Edwards’s point about remission: “I nearly lost the love of my life, the mother of my children. By the grace of God she has been saved and returned to me, and I will cherish her for the rest of my… Heeeey baby, how you doin’?”

  49. Update: The pile-on begins. Politico flags Edwards’s take on the Lewinsky scandal from 1999:
I think this President has shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter. It is breathtaking to me the level to which that disrespect has risen.

  50. Update: NBC talks to an Edwards aide privy to the ABC interview and returns with this scoop. You’ve got to be kidding:
Edwards said he went to the Beverly Hilton, where the National Enquirer claims to have photographed him, to meet not with Hunter, but Bob McGovern, a friend of Hunter’s, the source said, adding that this was part of Edwards’ effort to keep the affair secret.
He needed to meet with McGovern, and rather than have coffee with him or call him he decided to arrange a suspicious late-night rendezvous at a hotel where his ex-mistress and the possible mother of his child happened to be staying? Good work, Silky!

  51. WOW!!!!

I am listening to Jerome Corsi, author of The Obbamanation on Hannity and he is pulling NO punches about Waffles race-card strategy, associations with Odinga, Rezko, etc.

he says Bill Clinton was RIGHT that BO played the race card and the campaign is trying to do the same with him. The tactic, as we all know here at Bigpink, was to label ANY criticism of BO as racist.

Corsi also talks about the Odinga/Waffles connection and the way BO didn’t say a word at the Odinga declaration he would impose sharia law.
Interview is now on WABC talk radio. I hope it will be archived.

  52. ABC News chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross said the Enquirer’s reporting was “95 to 96 percent” accurate.

  53. ADMIN,

‘The future is to get a genuine coalition of Democrats under the big tent based on economic interests – the FDR coalition.

If that means McCain becomes the president then so be it and we will fight the McCain presidency with vigor

if you say yes to stopping obama at all costs, you are saying that
you are with us, if worse comes to worse, you will be willing to
see mccain, rather than see obama in right?

ofcourse its not what we want, its what we must do as a last
    resort right?

  54. Edwards has told associates that when he endorsed Obama, he was promised a coveted prime-time, broadcast speaking slot at the Democratic National Convention.

The revelation seems to cast that into doubt, though Edwards told ABC that he hasn’t ruled out appearing at the convention, ABC’s Ross told Politico

  55. Texan4Hillary – it is going to be tough. Hillary supporters are not delusional but we are also made of sturdy stuff. We fight. We also remember waking up to the news of Tim Russert’s death. Today America woke up to the amazing news of of the amazing hypocrisy of Edwards and fighting between Russia and Georgia. We remember hearing about Spitzer. Things happen.

The nomination fight is about McCain’s poll numbers staying strong or getting stronger thereby waking up the superdelegates. The nomination fight is about the superdelegates finally realizing what a weak candidate historically (that’s why we wrote today’s article) and in this cycle Obama is. The point is that you keep fighting the battle you have before you and not worry about the likelihood of success or failure.

We also think that besides McCain poll numbers and the superdelegates waking up there will probably be needed an intervening outside event. That event could be a Tikki Lounge or a Rezko or something. Remember Americans know practically nothing about Obama. None of us know anything about Obama. So at any moment anything can happen.

And there is also a fight beyond the nomination and beyond the White House – bringing back sanity to the Democratic Party.

  56. The National Examiner is the tabloid that broke the story on the Donald Young murder.

The Christmas 2007 multiple-gunshot execution-style murder to the long-standing openly gay choir director at Obama’s Trinity United Church of Christ happened days before the Iowa caucus, when Obama would make his national political debut. According to Larry Sinclair, Young had contacted him through cell phone calls and texting concerning Obama.

The only way Young could have obtained the three cell phone numbers was through the Obama campaign. Young alluded to the relationship he was in with Obama, and indicated Wright was aware of everything. The calls stopped during December. Before Christmas, Young was found murdered, most likely a hit. He and two other gay church members died within 40 days of one another.

Gays in Chicago have been given the message, don’t you think?

The article gave a timeline and raised the questions that should be answered by Obama and and could MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Although this is another story not touched by Big Media, the National Enquirer stands by the story.

I personally believe Larry Sinclair, regardless of his own past.

Perhaps it’s now time for the National Enquirer to re-visit this expolsive story.

  57. Edwards is doing the old , I did not know she was staying there bit. God how transparent is that.

So then Mr Edwards, if you were meeting McGovern, why did you meet him in a hotel room, hide from guards in the bathroom, unless of course you are also screwing him too.

  58. edwards statements… lying liar

In 2006, I made a serious error in judgment and conducted myself in a way that was disloyal to my family and to my core beliefs. I recognized my mistake and I told my wife that I had a liaison with another woman, and I asked for her forgiveness. Although I was honest in every painful detail with my family, I did not tell the public. When a supermarket tabloid told a version of the story, I used the fact that the story contained many falsities to deny it. But being 99% honest is no longer enough.

I was and am ashamed of my conduct and choices, and I had hoped that it would never become public. With my family, I took responsibility for my actions in 2006 and today I take full responsibility publicly. But that misconduct took place for a short period in 2006. It ended then. I am and have been willing to take any test necessary to establish the fact that I am not the father of any baby, and I am truly hopeful that a test will be done so this fact can be definitively established. I only know that the apparent father has said publicly that he is the father of the baby. I also have not been engaged in any activity of any description that requested, agreed to or supported payments of any kind to the woman or to the apparent father of the baby.

It is inadequate to say to the people who believed in me that I am sorry, as it is inadequate to say to the people who love me that I am sorry. In the course of several campaigns, I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic. If you want to beat me up – feel free. You cannot beat me up more than I have already beaten up myself. I have been stripped bare and will now work with everything I have to help my family and others who need my help.

I have given a complete interview on this matter and having done so, will have nothing more to say.

  59. The funny thing is, if he’s not the father, you would not be paying loads of cash and houses for her and the baby to live in.

What a lying sack of shit.

Hopefully John boy has all his tax sorted out for the cash and benefits he’s been giving her because I would hate to think he has been evading tax and misleading the IRS on this.

  60. Can ya imagine now all them die hards in Iowa that voted for John ED..with your disgusting Affair!!!!!!!I bet alott of them are going omg sypamthy vote.
with a dying wife at home and she knew…
and both supporting OB .to get Hillary out..thats why elizabeth only went with her health plan..and no farther…They planned all of this.with ob pelosi reid coward dean brazille.
he and all of them better apoligized to Hillary
he is nothing but a bucket of crap/
edwards got his wife to go along with it,sorry she is dying..but i think she was in this too,to oust Hillary

Hillary For President!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I still believe she will be!!!!more to come a falling OB!!!!!!!fallin in the polls fallin in with lies, fallen in with wrong people
no Judgement.money from overseas, money from all of us,and to make us all go broke, live in the streets,no gasoline on certain days, have your tires changed if not properly inflated, you will get a fine,we do as he says like thats gonna fly and vote for him.he is not the chosen one for the American People!!!!!!!he thinks we are all stupid but actually he is.Superdelgates Oust him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Hillary will be Our President,to save OUR Country and bring it BACK!!!!!!With the Poplular VOte and she has it locked up!!!!!!!!!!!

  61. hah edwards said he was a true family man, was like obama more than hillary etc.. today proves anything can happen. if the bloggers pushed this to the fore imagine what we could do in the next few weeks. if cnn can obtain the b cert of the lovchild why cant they pul obama’s? time to push harder than ever!

  62. The Obamabots think that tossing the McCain affair allegations and allegations about his first wife will deflect Edwards, it will only make it worse for them and fireproof McCain, total idiots.

  63. skmf12, during the Clinton impeachment drama and the fights we were involved in, we made certain private vows. One of them was to fight the Republican machine and not vote for a Republican ever again until there was an apology from the Republican Party for what they did to Bill Clinton. We keep that vow. We will not, cannot vote for a Republican sans that apology.

We do understand the argument that many awake Democrats make that the best way to stop Obama is to vote for McCain -nothing less – not a third party vote nor a Hillary write-in. We personally cannot take that step. We respect those that are willing to take that step however, in light of the Obama race-baiting, gay-bashing, woman-hating, not qualified candidacy.

  64. The Edwards story should wake up voters and make them realize that Big Media has been duping them ALL YEAR LONG about Edwards and Obama. The Edwards story first surfaced AGES ago and Big Media didn’t lift a finger. Same with Obama: we’ve known about his skeletons for a LONG time and yet CNN and every other “All Obama, all the time” news outlet has instead been pumping out non-stop Obamaganda.

  65. For the psychologists:

Elizabeth Edwards knew about the affair since the beginning of the affair. Elizabeth was often very hostile towards Hillary and the rumors were that she was the one most against endorsing Hillary.

Question: What in that psychology would cause Elizabeth to be so hostile to Hillary in light of the fact that both shared a wandering husband problem?

  66. Would make you sick really!

Where was John Edwards around the time his alleged “love child” Frances Quinn Hunter was conceived?

The senator was in New York – receiving his Father of the Year Award.

Edwards accepted his June 27, 2007, honor from the Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council exactly eight months before the child was born Feb. 27, 2008, according to a birth certificate obtained by the Charlotte Observer.

Before beginning his Father of the Year acceptance speech, Edwards told an adoring crowd, “I hate to admit it, but I am not the best parent in my family.

  67. Correct point Berkeley Vox, Big Media did not inform the American voter about Edwards. This is why Americans discount, don’t believe Big Media. The danger is when Americans become lazy they start believing Big Media again. Our job is to remind Americans that Big Media has a candidate and they are force-feeding Obama to Americans.

  68. admin,

because i too made a vow, i vowed never to vote for obama…
    so i understand that…

i made a vow not to support either msm nor cnn, and i stick
    by that too…
and let me tell you admin, i hurt terribly when they did the
clinton hanging, so i understand that…

about this third party thing, we asked on not just this blog,
but everywhere i went, people were asking why hillary didnt go
independant, or third party, she refused…

it was a dream we all had, but she wasnt going for it, so that
    leaves what? mccain?

    i guess so….. :tears:

  69. Are worthy news program will be the National Enquier..never thought i would ever believe this paper.
staight forward and the truth!!!!!!be nice if they have there own news truthfull Tv show I guess will have to believe them from now on…I give em props and thanking them!!!!!!Now on with OBama!!!!!! to do the job what these other outfits wont do!!!!

NO NBC CNN FOX MESSNBC=NOT truthfull there full of it!!!!!and they lie so BAD !!!!!

  70. lets takes bets for as to how long it takes for Bambi to drive the big red bus all over John Edwards back.

    I give it 2 hrs.

  71. admin
Question: What in that psychology would cause Elizabeth to be so hostile to Hillary in light of the fact that both shared a wandering husband problem?

did elizabeth feel so angry and embarrassed because she had become the woman she had publicly denounced?

  72. admin,

for the psychology student in me,

perhaps she thinks if hillary would have been tough and condemned
bill, and if bill would have gotten what he ‘deserved’, her husband
would have been too scared to do that and put his candidacy in

perhaps she felt that its the clintons fault for setting that sort of
    example, and making it acceptable…

maybe, she saw a duped woman in hillary, and hated hillary as
she hates herself, for sticking by him, and being weak…

oh and what do we win if we get it right? 😀

  73. I’ll tell you how big this John Edwards thing is and is going to be is that it is on the front of every news and cable program across Europe and on the front of every UK newspaper.

Expect it on the cover of every US newspaper also.

  74. admin
Question: What in that psychology would cause Elizabeth to be so hostile to Hillary in light of the fact that both shared a wandering husband problem?

I think Alcina’s answer is on track. “did elizabeth feel so angry and embarrassed because she had become the woman she had publicly denounced?”

I’ve often wondered, where Elizabeth’s hostility came from. Has it always been there? Or did it start, after she found out about her husband’s affair? Is she jealous of Hillary’s success? Now, she and Hillary have a lot in common.

  75. The Edwards lambasted the Clintons after the whole Lewinsky thing and all I can say is “how does it feel” to be on the receiving end.

  76. Ok now I am getting slightly amused.

Nancy Pelosi has just asked about the VP slot and said that “convention schedules can be changed easily” and that “Hillary is the big name that would make a brilliant VP”

I am getting amused that the DNC is starting to get very worried and now realise they need her bad.

Pelosi seems to have changed her tune very quickly.

  77. What was John Edwards thinking when the National Enquirer story broke?

ABC News has not yet aired its interview with the former Democratic presidential candidate, but a celebrated speech by Edwards during the impeachment of Bill Clinton is interesting to re-read.

Here is Edwards on Clinton on Feb. 12, 1999:

I think this President has shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter. It is breathtaking to me the level to which that disrespect has risen.

Later, Edwards debated whether Clinton intended to obstruct justice when he talked with a White House employee:

We have a man who has just been confronted with this problem, who is political by nature. And do we really believe that the first thing he thought about is, “I’m going to go protect myself legally'”? I suspect the first thing he thought about is “I’m going to protect myself politically.” He was worried about his family finding out. He was worried about the rest of the staff finding out. He was worried about the press finding out.

  78. Check it out, NYTimes’ Katharine Seelye wrote a stream-of-consciousness-style “article” about the Clintons’ role at the Democratic convention. While the piece is rife with examples of shoddy journalism (wild conjecture, no fact-checking, etc.), at least the Big Media chattering class is talking:

So, Senator Hillary Clinton says in a video that her supporters need a “catharsis” at the Democratic convention…. and presto! Bill Clinton finally gets his speaking role.

Anyone think there was a connection between Mrs. Clinton’s mild musings of disruptive action at the convention and the sudden appearance of a speaking slot for Bill?

Maybe not. But a role for Bill is surely part of what Hillary has wanted.

Senator Barack Obama’s camp says that the discussions with the Clintons have been in the works for a while. But Mrs. Clinton’s video remarks, in which she also suggested that her delegates might take matters into their own hands at the convention, surely helped spur those discussions to a more rapid conclusion. So did the endless replay of an ABC video in which Mr. Clinton questioned Mr. Obama’s qualifications to be president.

The Obama camp can only hope that those two videos will now be bumped out of the cable rotation. Giving Mr. Clinton a speaking slot, on Wednesday night, gives the media a whole new narrative to chase: When will Mr. Clinton speak? Will he introduce someone? Will he stay within his allotted speaking time? More importantly, what will he say? Will he insist, yet again, that he did not use racial politics during the primaries? The convention is probably neither the time nor the place for that discussion, but you know it’s on his mind.

Mrs. Clinton is speaking Tuesday night. But her full role remains unclear. And what will her supporters do? Will she encourage them to include her in the roll call or will she try to tamp them down?

Whatever the details, we now have the potential for Mr. Obama’s convention to be distracted — if not dominated — by the Clintons for two nights in a row.

Yes, Mr. Clinton will be speaking the same night as Mr. Obama’s newly minted running mate. Presumably the theatrics of the evening will be designed to showcase the new veep and amplify his message in the service of the presidential nominee. But with the Clintons’ instinct for drama, you never know. Was part of the deal with Mr. Clinton that he keep a lid on himself?

A person close to the Clintons said that Mrs. Clinton has been negotiating not only for herself but for her husband. For one thing, he has seemed too far out of the Obama orbit to do it for himself.

For another, Mrs. Clinton is the Clinton with leverage. She’s still got hundreds of delegates who want to vote for her. In the video of her talking about the catharsis that her supporters need, she says over and over again that she wants a strategy for allowing them to vent and be validated.

Some of her delegates are in the process of gathering the 300 signatures that they would need to get Mrs. Clinton’s name on the ballot. But that could happen only if Mrs. Clinton approves it, in writing. That part of any strategy with Mr. Obama has yet to be worked out.

Even with such matters still on the table and as she tries to salve the wounds of her supporters, Mrs. Clinton heads off today to campaign for Mr. Obama in Nevada.

  79. Berkeley: You are right. Much of the article is conjecture, presuming, innuendo, and drama. This is journalism?

  80. Edwards is a piece of work! I remember him blasting Bill on the Senate floor over the impeachment and he turns around and does this, but continually lied about it thinking he could spread hush money around… Pathetic

  81. watched fox video of the two presumptive candidates reaction-response to the situation in georgia.

McCain coming across very presidential calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities and withdrawal of Russian troops, etc.

BHOle acting annoyed that he had to be bothered with such nonsense prior to his leaving on vacation.

perhaps i exaggerate, but it reminded me of “can’t i just eat my waffle?”

  82. I bet this is not the only woman , there may be others. For him to blast Bill like that, he is doing the same thing

  83. Yeah, I know birdgal — pretty crazy. I guess in the NYT’s defense, they call it a “blog,” but there’s still no substance — just wild conjecture.

  84. ADMIN,

    Billie Jean – Michael Jackson

She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene
I said don’t mind, but what do you mean I am the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round
She said I am the one will dance on the floor in the round

She told me her name was Billie Jean, as she caused a scene
Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round

People always told me be careful of what you do
And don’t go around breaking young girls’ hearts
And mother always told me be careful of who you love
And be careful of what you do ’cause the lie becomes the truth

Billie Jean is not my lover
She’s just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son

The law was on her side
But who can stand when she’s in demand
    Her schemes and plans
‘Cause we danced on the floor in the round
So take my strong advice, just remember to always think twice
    (Do think twice)

She told my baby we’d danced till three, then she looked at me
Then showed a photo my baby cried his eyes were like mine (oh, no!)
‘Cause we danced on the floor in the round, baby

People always told me be careful of what you do
And don’t go around breaking young girls’ hearts
She came and stood right by me
Then the smell of sweet perfume
    This happened much too soon
She called me to her room

  85. Those Oregon numbers are pretty shocking, moononpluto! If Obama can’t win OR, he’s in huge trouble.

I’m personally stunned that Obama thinks he can take yet another vacation. He just took one in Europe! The guy is flat-out lazy. We just had 8 years of a lazy President and we don’t need another. If Obama’s excuse is that “no one is watching, due to the Olympics,” as his aides have been suggesting, then he is even more crazy than I thought! Remember the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics? Bill Clinton never stopped campaigning during those!

  86. john edwards claims that while working on the campaign it got to his head and quote:

” I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic. If you want to beat me up – feel free. ”

well if this is edward’s justification for his behavior…god only knows what skeletons are in the closet of the master narcissist, the one and only Mr. Arrogance himself…and god only knows what the MSM is hiding and withholding about Mr. Big Shot…

…the public has been robbed of the best candidate from both parties combined…msm withheld the Wright story during O’s initial wins…and allowed the tag team to do their damage on Hillary…the best and the brightest of them all…

  87. “Papa Don’t Preach”

Papa I know you’re going to be upset
‘Cause I was always your little girl
But you should know by now
    I’m not a baby

You always taught me right from wrong
I need your help, daddy please be strong
I may be young at heart
But I know what I’m saying

The one you warned me all about
The one you said I could do without
We’re in an awful mess, and I don’t mean maybe – please

Papa don’t preach, I’m in trouble deep
Papa don’t preach, I’ve been losing sleep
But I made up my mind, I’m keeping my baby, oh
I’m gonna keep my baby, mmm…

He says that he’s going to marry me
We can raise a little family
    Maybe we’ll be all right
    It’s a sacrifice

But my friends keep telling me to give it up
Saying I’m too young, I ought to live it up
What I need right now is some good advice, please

Daddy, daddy if you could only see
Just how good he’s been treating me
You’d give us your blessing right now

Papa don’t preach, I’m in trouble deep
Papa don’t preach, I’ve been losing sleep

Don’t you stop loving me daddy
I know, I’m keeping my baby

  88. Obama’s a dumbass because I can tell you that an awful lot of people will pay no attention to the Olympics, Obama’s acting all elitist, people don’t give a shit about the olympics if they can’t put food on the table or fill their gas tank or have to work 2 jobs 16 hours a day or have 3 kids to get to school.

The fuckwit just doesnt get it. If I was McCain I would be all over the networks this week like flies round shit.

  89. Moononpluto, totally agree. Check it — WaPo weighs in on Obama’s laziness:

    Democratic veterans think otherwise.

“I’d be campaigning like crazy,” says Clinton 1992 campaign adviser Paul Begala.

“This whole thing about the Olympics is a myth,” says Kerry 2004 campaign veteran Bob Shrum. “People don’t look at the Olympics and nothing else.”

“There are two marathons going on: one in the Olympic Games and one in the presidential campaign and I don’t think the presidential candidates can cease running their marathons during the Olympics,” Shrum adds.

Shrum admits that the Kerry campaign suffered during the period between the end of the 2004 Democratic convention and the two weeks of the Olympics before Republicans met in late August and early September.

“All you had to do is think through the advantage that was given to someone like Bush who could spend an additional $60 million in primary money and we couldn’t and only spend the general election money,” Shrum says.

Democrats had it easier back in 1992 Begala says, thanks partly to circumstance.

“There wasn’t a Mary Lou Retton, or Kerri Strug. The biggest thing was the Dream Team. But how many games do you want to watch when America wins with 100 points? It wasn’t Carl Lewis in ’84. It wasn’t any of that. So it wasn’t the greatest Olympics ever.”

“That’s when [Clinton] started his now-famous bus tour going through the Midwest. We certainly didn’t stand down,” Begala adds.

And Begala suggests Obama should “Use a little creativity. Why not say ‘If flip-flopping were an Olympic sport, John McCain would be the first 72-year-old to win a gold medal’?”

Well, it wouldn’t be the first thing about which the campaigns disagree. What’s your take?

  90. Obama’s lead in WI is dropping:

Barack Obama’s 11-point lead in Wisconsin is now down to four. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state shows Obama leading John McCain 47% to 43%. When “leaners” are included in the totals, Obama leads 51% to 44%.

Last month, in the first Wisconsin poll conducted since Hillary Clinton dropped out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, Obama was ahead of his Republican opponent 50% to 39%.
Obama is supported by 86% of Wisconsin Democrats, McCain by 95% of Republicans. Voters not affiliated with either major party are evenly divided.

  91. Another history lesson:

In 1999, when Edwards was a senator, he said of President Clinton and his affair with Monica Lewinsky:

“I think this president has shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter. It is breathtaking to me the level to which that disrespect has risen.”

    Also http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,306256,00.html

Democrat John Edwards is trying to turn the Democratic presidential race into a referendum on honesty and integrity, areas where polling has shown that voters are divided about Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The argument marks a shift in a race where Edwards and Clinton’s other Democratic opponents have criticized her stance on policy but usually have avoided taking on her character directly. In an interview Monday with The Associated Press, Edwards said Clinton is part of a corrupt Washington system.

“Good people are caught up in this system, and I’ve given some examples of the places that I think she’s caught up in it,” Edwards said. “And I also, secondly, think that she continues to defend it. And I don’t think you can bring up the change this country needs if you defend a corrupt system that doesn’t work.

“The closer we get to the election and the more people move past celebrity and to the issues such as honesty, integrity and who can actually bring about change, I think they are going to pay very close attention to those questions,” Edwards said while riding in a minivan between campaign stops.

  92. Just saw this:

“My thoughts and prayers are with the Edwards family today and that’s all I’ve got to say,” Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton said during an event for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign in Nevada today.

Did Obama issue a statement? Or was he too busy packing for a week in Hawaii?

  93. Berkeley Vox,

the Obama incense burners are not worried about bad polls coming in from Oregon and Wisconsin showing McCain moving up. The incense burners are not worried about Obama losing the white working class vote either. The incense burners know that once John Edwards campaigns in West Virginia, Kentucky, Oregon and Wisconsin for Obama, all will be well.

BTW, between the Mayor of Detroit and Edwards this hurts Obama and Democrats. The incense burners and Big Media deny this could be true. But consider the damage Mark Foley did to the Republicans – all the Culture of Corruption Republican problems were given a face.

Edwards gave flowery speeches like Obama and is proven a hypocrite and liar. The leap to Obama is not that big a jump.

  94. honesty and integrity, there’s 2 words that will never ever again be mentioned in the same sentence as John Edwards.

  95. ( while BHO fly’s off on vacation… )

STATEMENT BY JOHN MCCAIN ON RUSSIA’S AGGRESSION IN GEORGIA For Immediate Release Contact: Press Office Friday, August 8, 2008 703-650-5550

ARLINGTON, VA — U.S. Senator John McCain issued the following statement regarding the current conflict between Georgia and Russia:

“Today, news reports indicate that Russian military forces crossed an internationally-recognized border into the sovereign territory of Georgia. Russia should immediately and unconditionally cease its military operations and withdraw all forces from sovereign Georgian territory. What is most critical now is to avoid further confrontation between Russian and Georgian military forces. The consequences for Euro-Atlantic stability and security are grave.

“The government of Georgia has called for a cease-fire and for a resumption of direct talks on South Ossetia with international mediators. The U.S. should immediately convene an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council to call on Russia to reverse course. The U.S. should immediately work with the EU and the OSCE to put diplomatic pressure on Russia to reverse this perilous course it has chosen. We should immediately call a meeting of the North Atlantic Council to assess Georgia’s security and review measures NATO can take to contribute to stabilizing this very dangerous situation. Finally, the international community needs to establish a truly independent and neutral peacekeeping force in South Ossetia.”

  96. skmf …which course are you going with?

As I see it, if Obama wins, it will be the same old…

40 years ago while I worked at the movie studios, I did all the work but never got the title. (I was told that “men will never work for a woman.”)
What has changed?? How, if we vote for Obama, will we ever change it??

Not to mention throwing a terrific candidate under the bus for an inferior one.

  97. The Democrats are in big danger in assuming gains this Nov, they may well lose the house, Senate and WH if they keep this shit up. The Dem Congress is not well liked and could easily fall if the people decide they are totally fecking useless.

  98. I wish people could upload something other than Youtube, its banned here in Turkey, so I see nothing from it.

  99. I’m off sick, after a certain incident involving a flight of stairs, copulous cocktails, and a broken arm and leg.

Ok now I am getting slightly amused.

    Moonpluto says:

Nancy Pelosi has just asked about the VP slot and said that “convention schedules can be changed easily” and that “Hillary is the big name that would make a brilliant VP”

I am getting amused that the DNC is starting to get very worried and now realise they need her bad.

Pelosi seems to have changed her tune very quickly.

Hi Moonpluto…where and/or when did that happen?

  101. I have no feeling about Edwards fidelity or not in his marriage because I have no idea what their ground rules were or are. She may have been unfaithful, she may have countenanced it…who knows? I don’t know and I don’t care.

However………I do fault stupidity. Going to a hotel at 1am to see your ex-mistress, lover, whatever….after denying it….with the press present…to see her/your/someone’s baby…..is past stupid and into terminally dumb.

Running your campaign for poor people and then dumping the one candidate with universal health care and going for Obama was already hypocritical at best and corrupt at worst but definitely stupid.
    Now we’re stuck with Obama.

Wonder if Obama whispered in Edwards’ ear before he dropped out…….

  102. S, i just saw it this evening. The wicked witch was on some programme, i didnt take much notice with it being her, i heard it and thought WTF.

  103. CJ Says:

Are worthy news program will be the National Enquier..never thought i would ever believe this paper
Actually, CJ, they are far more reliable than MSNBC.

  104. moon: She was saying very positive things about JE. He is such a wonderful person, listens, really cares, etc.

  105. give her a few days when they make her out to be the biggest slut on the planet and JE cuts all ties and disses her, then she’ll know exactly how she’s been shafted in more ways than one.

  106. Camilla parker bowles, not a good look to be putting forward.

Well I suppose if you are going to be rode by a small little angry man, you may as well look like a horse.

  107. Obama is such a wimp. When the going gets tough, he always goes on vacation to “regroup.” We don’t need Honolulu to become the new Crawford.

  108. TBH, There’s a certain type of man you know who will not keep it in his pants, its obvious, its life for them, they have this pathological urge to nail anything that moves and gay men and women can spot it a mile off.

John Edward’ s one, Bill Clinton’s one, my father was one, my brothers one and i’m telling you Obama’s one.

Sooner or later he is gonna nail something other than the wife, if he has’nt already.

  109. have no feeling about Edwards fidelity or not in his marriage because I have no idea what their ground rules were or are. She may have been unfaithful, she may have countenanced it…who knows? I don’t know and I don’t care.

    However………I do fault stupidity.

My feelings exactly, Freckles. Couldn’t care less about this story, except that 1). the fact that it didn’t come out sooner might have cost HRC the nom, and 2). it’s gonna work to fuck up the convention even more.

  110. Didn’t Pelosi say that Hillary would not be the VP? Now she wants her? Do they think we Americans are senile?

I am so tired of the DNC. I am getting to the point i don’t beleive a word any of them say

  111. Well in hindsight, I guess Hillary is very lucky that Edwards didn’t endorse her. On the other hand, he certainly hasn’t done Obama any favors by endorsing him instead.

  112. moononpluto Says:

S, i just saw it this evening. The wicked witch was on some programme, i didnt take much notice with it being her, i heard it and thought WTF.

interesting…maybe they are looking at some internals and getting nervous…

every time i hear that the obama camp cannot choose hill because of the ‘change message’ i have to laugh…his camp has half of the clinton people on staff…he used bill’s ‘hope and change’ 1992 playbook, he is going to have to run on the successful economic’s of the 1990’s…under Prez Bill Clinton…and he has stolen every Hillary talking point he can get his hands on…and some almost verbatim as she expressed and communicated them during the primaries…

oh, and let’s not forget he has the whole democratic establishment and the dinosaurs with him…kerry, kennedy, on and on…

…what a stupida and dishonest excuse for fear of being overshadowed by the more competent candidate…

…I like to say selecting Obama was like choosing the substitute teacher when we has the professor of the master class available…

    …our loss…

  113. So when JE talked of 2 America’s, was he talking of one America with him in his mansion with 20 million dollars while his mistress and child lived in the other america on the less affluent part of town.

  114. Pelosi, Kerry, Brazille, et al…must be scrambling to do damage control.

    Too little…too late!

Edwards comments about Bill Clinton are now going to come back to haunt him big time.

  115. Moonpluto!

I was going to apologize for not using the more proper term, coupling, (guess visions of JE are stomping through my mind) but your vivid visuals vanquished the necessity for mea culpas.

  116. I wonder have the American public figured out yet that practically every political sleazeball out there has endorsed Obama.

I mean its not too much off a leap to connect the dots.

  117. I bet John Edwards want be speaking at the convention

I wouldn’t want to show my face if i were him.

  118. This situation is going to embarass the dems, even more, than they have been. Now, we just need an affair to come out, involving BO.

Laura Ingraham was concerned about the affair. She knows Elizabeth, and is a fellow cancer survior.

  119. ‘Sooner or later he is gonna nail something other than the wife, if he has’nt already.’

Waffles might be nervous since JJ confessed his desire to whack off his bon-bons that Michelle might have gotten some ideas.

Bet she has a cute little urn on display above the fireplace.

  120. Down goes the Democratic party, jesus and all because Edwards needed to get his leg over some scrawny harpie with bad hair. He could at least have sent her for a 400 dollar haircut.

  121. Moononpluto
Your are hilarious tonight, I guess all those campaign contributions weren’t buying condoms!!! ROTFLMAO!!

  122. Basil make no mistake, that Obama marriage like every other political marriage is there for convenience, both of them have an agenda.

  123. I bet this whole thing was put out as a kind side attraction so BO can go to Hawaii and extort a real birth certificate out of the powers that be! I hope someone is watching him and all his entourage!I wonder if he goes to see grannie or is she still in Hawaii?

  124. Look I been married to the same guy for 40 manogamus years, after all this time I kinda think there might be something to this so-called open-political marriage. I imagine its never boring. LOL!!!

  125. well maybe if they’d actually whipped out and bought some rubbers for him, we wouldnt have a problem, heres Johnny, what an appropriate name considering he didnt bother using a Johnny with her, preaching family values, sleeping with some tart while his wife was sick as hell, disrespecting her and to boot didnt even rubber up to get he knocked up.

    Hell of an example.

Well there we go, new nickname for JE.

    Johnny No Rubber.

  126. The NE has been working on this story for months, according to Alexander Hitchen of the NE. I wonder, who gave the NE the tip, that JE would be at the hotel that night? Apparently, there was a push-pull thing with the door to the restroom. JE was pulling it in, and Hitchen was trying to pull it open. Rather sordid.

  127. hillary advisors very worried-

    Internal Clinton Campaign Memos Leaked
Advisers to Sen. Hillary Clinton “are in a tizzy over an upcoming piece in the Atlantic Monthly that chronicles the inner workings of the now-defunct campaign,” according to the Washington Post.

“Of particular concern are nearly 200 internal memos that the author, Josh Green, obtained — 130 or so of which he plans to scan in and post online. When the piece is published sometime next week, readers will be able to scroll through the memos, from senior strategists such as Mark Penn, Harold Ickes and Geoff Garin, and see what exactly was going on inside the infamously fractured Clinton organization. That has some former team members in a panic

  128. ‘This is getting bad, its possible campaign funds were used to pay Miss Rielle off?’

IMO this is another diversionary tactic to keep the ever-vigilant press off the Birth Certificate and eligibility for POTUS issues.

Everytime the kitchen gets too hot for poor Waffles some scandal miraculously erupts, distracting from Waffles gaffes and giving him time to repair cracks in his unraveling campaign.

Now it’s time to take care of the Hawaiian birth certificate and instead of the press criticizing him for taking a vacation and leaving the field to McCain they’ll be obsessed with the JE story.

  129. If this keeps up the DNC is going to explode. There won’t be anything left of this party to salvage.

  130. I for one look forward to it Janh, they deserve everything coming to them and more for they did to Hillary.

  131. looks like memos will b leaked by axelrove in a few days to stop the questions from edwards being protected by top demd

  132. Texan,

Another monkey wrench to keep the press, the DNC, the Democratic party from following up on Obama.

The strategy, IMO, is to throw as much shIt at the fan just long enough to prevent anything happening that would derail his nomination.

  133. moononpluto,

I agree. Either that or a name change because democracy certainly doesn’t come into it anymore.

  134. JanH Says:

i hope it tears the DNC apart.

I hope, he did not give EE a std.

Didn’t use a condon did he?

How smart is he Sex education anyone

  137. I guess if Edwards is agreeing to a paternity test he’s not the father, but why in the world did he visit her in the hotel then?

  138. I had this theory the other night that the RNC is going to drop a massive bombshell during the convention that is just going to throw it into complete chaos.

    Its just a gut feeling.

  139. Edwards is saying does not know if he’s the father but its basically a get out clause he’s hoping that because he admitted the affair he wont have to take a dna test.

He bloody well is the father, you do not go and see a woman and child at 2am in a hotel when its not yours, no freakin way would Edwards do that.

Thats his kid 100%. He’s just trying to wangle it.

  140. If the worst of the internal memo’s are the drivel that Rush read excerpts from…it’s a non-story.

  141. Neetabug, the chickens and the roosters are coming home to roost. 🙂

skmf12, the memos are probably run of the mill memos with all the bile and drama found in any private email. At most they’ll prove Harold Ickes can write a very tough memo.

  142. If this woman was having affairs with at least two men, maybe both should be tested.

    For what? Herpes, syphylis, aids?

  143. On a positive note:
I got my HRC tee shirt today, the one the campaign sent as a $50 donation gift and the winner of the design-a-tee-shirt contest.
It’s black with white lettering and it says:
For everyone who’s ever been counted out but refused to be knocked out
and for everyone who works hard and never gives up,
    This one’s for you.

I remember hearing her say that. 😥

  144. He is the father, I bet you. He may say he is going to take the paternity test, will he?

The fathers name is not listed on the birth certificate. Maybe she is not sure who the father is.

If it was me i would have taken the test To get all the questions out of the way

I bet John Edwards want be speaking at the convention

I wouldn’t want to show my face if i were him.

Bob Scheiffer (sp) on CBS said tonight that john edwards called him tonight and they spoke and edwards said he would not be going to the convention…

Scheiffer said he asked how elizabeth was doing and edwards said she is fantastic …. scheiffer asked to speak with her and she got on the phone and he said he could tell she had been crying and he asked how she was and she said “it’s tough”

does not sound like a happy household…and probably more to come…what a rat edwards is…i always thought he was such an opportunist…

he pulled the scholarship program he offered…28,000 square foot home…for someone so concerned with poverty why does he need a house that size?

    he’s a gemini…the two faces…or two worlds…of JE

  146. An Iron Curtain Dictators type vote by acclamation to select Obama will be seen as the deceptive fake unity it is.

Your article at the top is another classic.

Points that especially stood out for me are:

Hillary Clinton and John McCain are on the job. Obama is hiding behind security walls and Olympic coverage.

Brazille & Axelrod are legends in their own minds. Helps that they had lobotomies.

    But especially the following:

“No doubt Obama with his broth of faked celebrity biographical offerings easily wins the battle for pasting his face on magazine covers.”

This reminds me of the movie: Jesus Christ Superstar. Obama is a soap opera star with no talent.

    Excellent expose!

  147. Its like an episode of Dallas, who knocked up Sue Ellen. She was probably boinking a load of them but my money is definitely on Edwards as the babydaddy, she was getting far too much just for an affair, this was serious hush money.

Something not quite right here at all.

  148. Idunn Says:

When I wrote that, I was thinking of a paternity test.

  149. moon, Edwards said in the statement he’s willing to take a paternity test. I don’t get the hotel visit, either, though.

  150. The other thing is, do you honestly think John Edwards has not already had a dna test done on that child. You bet your ass he has and he knows its his.

If it wasnt, he would have said, i’ve had the test and I am not the father.

  151. ‘If the worst of the internal memo’s are the drivel that Rush read excerpts from…it’s a non-story.’
    To US!!!!!!!
The desperate panic-stricken press will be all over it. Bet they’ll try to make Obama out to be a scandal-free saint in comparison to the bombs bursting around the other 2 (former) leading democrat presidential contenders.

    Barf Alert:
Just heard Dickie-toe-sucker predict Waffles will choose Richardson as VP to solidify the Hispanic vote. Dickie (who somehow manages to be quite perceptive about such things) says 90% of the Latina vote would go to Waffles if Richardson is on the ticket.

  152. Paula,

I’m having a hard time believe the time frame for Edwards’ affair. I’m thinking it went on longer than he has said.

  153. I don’t understand how the Democratic Party can condemn John Edwards. Jesse Jackson has a baby mama. 70% of African American children are born to unwed baby mamas. Who is going to condemn John Edwards for having a baby mama? Donna Brazille? Jesse Jackson, Jr.? James Clyburn?

All this talk about marriage and cheating. To Democrats, aren’t those the tired old morals of the last century? Aren’t baby mama’s the hip new Democratic Party?

    Just askin….

  154. Richardson, if he picks that fat useless oaf then he really is bonkers.

I’m a realist and sorry but a AA man and a hispanic against 2 white men, you do the maths who’d win that election.

  155. Scheiffer said he asked how elizabeth was doing and edwards said she is fantastic …. scheiffer asked to speak with her and she got on the phone and he said he could tell she had been crying and he asked how she was and she said “it’s tough”

Now she knows how HIllary felt. The shoe is on the other foot.

  156. The desperate panic-stricken press will be all over it.

You don’t think they’re gonna be just a wee bit busy covering the JE scandal? 😉

Anyway, I’m almost willing to bet HRC leaked those memo’s herself.

  157. Tough, tough would have been an iron bar wedged in his head and I would have kicked from one end of the country to the other.

  158. HWC, you forgot to mention that Edwards has a very big compound to house his out of wedlock children. 🙂

  159. Idunn, those things don’t get leaked unless they are wanted to be leaked. You destroy those unless you want them to be seen.

  160. Take a look at some of the campaign pictures with John and Elizabeth during the last presidential campaign.
Edward acted as if Elizabeth was not even there. He was all into himself.

  161. I dunno WTH Waffles is gonna pick as VP but disgusting dickie does make quite a few accurate predictions.

Moon, Good point about the problems with such an ethnic ticket.

  162. basil9

The Enquirer better get a team out here then, if he names Richardson VP. There will be more good stories. You just need to get someone in the inner circle to talk.

  163. Obama/Richardson now there would be the worst combination in history, would make Mondale/Ferraro look like a dream ticket.

  164. haha Huffington Post is trying to claim they exposed Edwards first last year and then proceeds to tear him to pieces.

    I’m pissing myself laughing.

  165. Seems like the campaign has been fishing, by dropping a new name each week. Measuring the reaction?

  166. So now Edwards was paying money to Hunter and to the Andrew Young guy who says he’s the father, why would you pay someone for nothing, unless of course, he’s paying someone to take the fall.

  167. The desperate panic-stricken press will be all over it.
‘You don’t think they’re gonna be just a wee bit busy covering the JE scandal?’

Yeah but I don’t think the press would ever bypass an opportunity to attack their main target, HRC, just like they’ve been doing all year.

Why did they suppress the JE story! IMHO there’s no way this wasn’t known and it was conveniently ignored, swept under the rug just long enough for JE to cut into HRC’s results in Iowa and the other pre -ST states.

  168. The Enquirer had a story on Obama womanizing. Had Michelle screaming I am beginning to believe that story is true also

  169. Wouldn’t it be outrageous if Obama was really the father of that baby and John was covering it up for him?
I think its a little weird that they just broke the story, of coarse they broke it during the Olympics trying to minimize it by breaking it now. They think it will overshadowed by the Olympics!

  170. confloyd, i think it will be feck the olympics, this ones juicier as far as the msm is concerned.

  171. CONFLOYD!!!!

You made me spit water all over the keyboard! LOL

‘Wouldn’t it be outrageous if Obama was really the father of that baby and John was covering it up for him?’

You are a RIOT and you really should start writing mysteries.

  172. I’m waiting for Obama to say he does’nt need no stinking VP, I can do it all myself.

    (it’s funny ’cause it’s true)

  173. Maybe Reile is Mary and the immaculate conception, did she give birth in a barn in Illinois perchance.

Personally, I’d check the kid for triple 6’s if he was the father.

  174. Well, she seems to have possibly worked her way through Edwards campaign team, maybe she needed new territory.

  175. What a year!
The National Enquirer and Fox emerging as the most reliable
    news sources.
And what a ride for Waffles. This is copied from NQ.

    Amazing :

    Kennedy gets cancer
    Pelosi’s book tanks
    Kwame Kilpatrick is in prison
Obama’s birth certificate is under review
Gergen says that Obama campaign is in trouble, and that only Hillary can fix it
Tim Russert (chief Obama cheer meister at NBC ) suddenly dies
The European victory tour is a total bust, lowering Obama’s already weak poll numbers even more
Edwards is caught cheating on his dying wife
McCain calls Odumbo on his serial race-baiting, and the press loves it
Obama still hasn’t named a suitable VP nominee

Oy, bad news follows Odumbo like a shadow, doesn’t it? It has been a difficult past few months. I’d almost feel sorry for the guy if I didn’t revile him so much.

  176. When can we end the myth that Obama made no personal attacks and that Hillary started it?

I will never forget, nor countenance, the first thing I heard out of Michele’s mouth: “If you can’t run your own house, how can you run the White House?”

Be very very careful Michele…it may come back to bite you. BTW, where’s the ‘Whitey — why’d he’ tape??

  177. Oh Jeeeeezzzzzzz!
Alan Colmes is sputtering that not only did JE have an affair with ‘her’ but according to the NE, so did Andrew young.

Young, young – isn’t that also the name of the murdered TUCC choir director? The one LS knew? One of THREE gay men in Chicago murdered within a week, all of who knew one another?

  178. Basil: That is why, both of them should have the paternity test. Andrew Young has been claiming that he is the father. He is also married.

  179. what is truly stupid about this is how msm protected edwards for so long. war broke out w russia and georgia and edwards’ sex life is the topic of the day in america? we are in serious trouble

  180. texan: Only in America, would a politician’s affair overshadow, an outbreak of war. Europeans could care less.

  181. Once again, karma baby, karma.

Wronged wife. Yet wronged wife supports politician that diesn’t support universal healthcare and rejects another fellow female attorney who has survived infidelity.

    Karma once again.

National Enquirer = almost mission accomplished when paternity and money trail leads back to the sprawling North Carolina Edwards mansion. A manse that Hunter eyeballs as she waits in the wings for the long-suffering matriarch to depart this earth and she can become the step-monster to children who have undured multiple losses.

Only one question left National Enquirer – When do you pick the story back up about the murder of Donald Young and his association with Barack Obama?

Speaking of extra-marital affairs prior to running for the highest office in the land……..

    We’re waiting…………………………………………..

  182. What has happened to the story of the John and Barack’s vacations together. One in 99′ and one 06′, has anyone incovered the reason for these??

  183. This is very encourageing to see how fast facts can surface when the National Enquirer breaks through the media blackout with credible sources to substantiate a huge story.

We can only pray they have been in constant touch with the gay community in Chicago who have multiple accounts about Obama but have been muffled by the murder of Obama’s long-time lover Donald Young, as well as two other TUCC members within 40-day period at end of 2007 and beginning of 2008, as BHO launched his meteoric political rise on the national stage.

Enquirer was speaking with members of Donald Young family. Imagine fear and intimidation rampant as with all things to do with BHO.

So now Pelosi is praising HRC? Really. They must suspect the Big Dog is ready to expose the fraud BHO – fake birth certificate (that he’s probably now miraculously finding in Hawaii while on “vacation”), false statements on FEC and State Bar filings and applications. No telling…………………………….

Then we will understand why MO didn’t want him to run. You know she has to know.

  184. Last post I’ll make on the JE scandal:

Our family has been through a lot. Some caused by nature, some caused by human weakness, and some – most recently – caused by the desire for sensationalism and profit without any regard for the human consequences. None of these has been easy. But we have stood with one another through them all. Although John believes he should stand alone and take the consequences of his action now, when the door closes behind him, he has his family waiting for him.

John made a terrible mistake in 2006. The fact that it is a mistake that many others have made before him did not make it any easier for me to hear when he told me what he had done. But he did tell me. And we began a long and painful process in 2006, a process oddly made somewhat easier with my diagnosis in March of 2007. This was our private matter, and I frankly wanted it to be private because as painful as it was I did not want to have to play it out on a public stage as well. Because of a recent string of hurtful and absurd lies in a tabloid publication, because of a picture falsely suggesting that John was spending time with a child it wrongly alleged he had fathered outside our marriage, our private matter could no longer be wholly private.

The pain of the long journey since 2006 was about to be renewed.

John has spoken in a long on-camera interview I hope you watch. Admitting one’s mistakes is a hard thing for anyone to do, and I am proud of the courage John showed by his honesty in the face of shame. The toll on our family of news helicopters over our house and reporters in our driveway is yet unknown. But now the truth is out, and the repair work that began in 2006 will continue. I ask that the public, who expressed concern about the harm John’s conduct has done to us, think also about the real harm that the present voyeurism does and give me and my family the privacy we need at this time.

  185. Obama looked pretty absurd commenting on Edwards. He is clearly panicked. Obama stammered on about how he hopes Edwards stays away from the convention… typical Obama: looking out for himself first. The Democratic convention is shaping up to be a total fiasco.

Begala said it best: WHY would Edwards offer to take a paternity test? What a dumb thing to say: it now guarantees that this story will stay in the headlines for weeks, as we await for the results of this test that Edwards is promising to take. Also, why would Edwards use the phrase “I was stripped bare” in his statement?!?!? Are you SERIOUS?! Begala said the statement was “bizarre” and that Edwards said WAY too much.

  186. im betting some obama donors are tied up in this and some folks in the press as well. that is what is critical now. if the obama camp gets somehow tied into the coverup and the deal barack made to get ed’s endorsement kaboom. this si a party problem. 58 million people voted for kerry and edwards. party donors paid this woman’s lodgings etc toprotect edwards’. begala understands the party and obama will hurt

  187. So, Edwards and Elizabeth are saying this baby is not his, well, who the hell’s is it??? Like I said, maybe its Bawaak’s!!! ROTHLMAO!!

  188. Would be WONDERFUL if somehow BHO was involved in cover-up for Edwards ($$$) in exchange for his endorsement and handful of delegates. Oh please, please, please……

  189. I am sure the washerman Axelrove can coverup anything. Bawaak need those extra delegates and BOOM, they were there!!

  190. So, Edwards and Elizabeth are saying this baby is not his, well, who the hell’s is it??? Like I said, maybe its Bawaak’s!!! ROTHLMAO!!

Edwards, i don;t believe anything coming out of John Edwards mouth As far as Elizabeth goes she is listening to what Edwards is telling her. I don’t understand how she can trust him. 2006 this happened, all of a sudden he is visting her hiding in a restroom. Give me a break

  191. if it was not because of Edwards’s ten delegates or something, BHO would not have enough delegates on June 3.

  192. someone posted the article at WND about BHO’s FAKE Birth certificate…..in reading that article
i notice there was a petition link so am passing it on to you here.

    The petition

The signers of this petition request the Federal Elections Commission and Mr. Donald McGahan, FEC chairman, to take responsibility to verify the eligibility of Mr. Barack H. Obama to be President of the United States. Mr. Obama has refused to produce a physical certified, stamped copy of his birth certificate. An electronically-displayed image displayed by his official campaign website has been alleged to be a forgery. We request that the FEC require Mr. Obama to authorize the FEC to obtain an official copy of his birth certificate and if he does not produce the authorization that the FEC reject his registration as a presidential candidate; that the FEC not monitor his campaign finances during the primary or election; that votes cast for Mr. Obama and reported by the states’ boards of elections not be recorded and displayed by the FEC; and that Mr. Obama be considered in violation of 2 USC 437g for filing a false statement on FEC Form 2, as specified on that form.

  193. moononpluto Says:
I thought Oregon was a big bambi pushover, big drop for bambi.
    Virtual tie, 4.0% MOE
    McCain 45% to Bambi’s 48%

From my memories of Oregon some years ago, I’m not surprised. Although there’s a lot of latte demographic in the cities and organic geodomes in the woods, his victory in the primary was helped by another “Dem for a Day” project and a lot of angry old loggers in the woods who still hate the Clintons for limiting logging in the 90s. Neither of these will help him in November, they will all go for McCain.

All voting is mail-in which will help the older people and the remote loggers.

  194. hannity says the news media is dead. the fact edwards story has just now broke says so. barry levine head of enquirer is on. we need to get his contact info.

  195. well perhaps now that BHO’s BC scandal has hit worldnetdaily perhaps the national Enquirer will pick up the story too 😀

  196. Everything’s so freakin’ crazy right now, I don’t know what to say. But yeah, I believe Edwards is the babydaddy and he knows it. I feel sorry for his other kids, who are old enough to know what’s going on.

  197. I first read about Edwards’ affair from Huff Post’s Off the Bus when he was still in the Primary. Long, long ago. It was a story about how the woman in question produced his campaign video but the video was never released. It cost about 300K to make but was never used. The writer hinted at a possibility of an affair and a cover-up, but he was shouted down by Edwards zombies who troll Huff Post. The story just never made it to mainstream.

Aside from feeling bad for Elizabeth, this breaking story delights me to no end. I knew he was a phony. One phony supporting another phony.

Cheating on your cancer-stricken wife is pathetic.

  198. filbert! I was wondering if I would ever see you again. Maybe you’ve been here and I missed you. I don’t know. But did you read about those emails being released. I’m betting Patty Solis Doyle. Seems Obama is intent on destroying the entire Party.

  199. Re O’s great friend Edwards, who will ask Obama:

What did you know and when did you know it?

    heh heh heh

  200. I’m sorry but that speech by Elizabeth Edwards doesnt cut it.

If she was so concerned about her family and John and what he did then why did she permit him to run as a presidential candidate in 2008, sorry honey that doesnt cut it.

You are as as much to blame for the media publicity coming your way. No if’s ands or buts.

  201. mj — good guess!!! (PSDOYLE)

Gone are the days when Truman (or someone) found the opposing campaign strategy folder left on his desk. He called and sent it back. The opposition absolutely knew that it hadn’t been opened.

Now we have this seedy “I’ve got the private e-mails of an opponent and I’m going to publish them.” Does it get any more disgusting than this?

  202. Elizabeth has every right to make any personal decision but she shouldn’t have supported his presidential run. She could have if she had said — admit it because they’ll find out — and then run if people will still support you.

On the other hand, I guess she believed in his cause and thought it would help heal and so, like John, deluded herself.

I really tire of criticising them for this, though. Let’s have a rule. Men who stray are entitled to lie about it if asked, so don’t ask. Then let’s expand the rule to include women.

  203. Off topic sort of………but if you didn’t watch the opening of the Olympic games, you missed a spectacular show!!! But what I thought was: This is China putting her best foot forward and welcoming everyone. There was a strong environmental message done artistically and gently.

If we had a woman who could fully understand this moment, who had rocked Beijing years before, who had a brilliant husband who had a superb cabinet, we could make enormous strides on this planet.

But we are stuck with a man whose wife says, “He will save our souls.” Yuck.

    BTW, Bush looked awful.

  204. “I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic,” Mr Edwards said, trying to explain his behaviour.

I believe you still do Mr Edwards and quite frankly we dodged a bullet when you lost in 2004 and 2008.

What does that statement tell you about the man. Birds of a feather flock together, thats what. So basically you ran your Pres Campaign because you thought you were special and you felt egotistical and narcissistic, oh that will make everyone of your supporters feel brilliant, won’t it. Looking back, it does put those debate performances in context.

So America please wake up, you’ve seen it in Edwards, look at Obama, its exactly the same only to a worse degree.

  205. from the pumapac blog tongiht. hillary’s unity trip in nv didnt go well-few cheers for obama. folksbegging for a rollcall vote. here is a sample account;

MY 15 SECONDS WITH HILLARY by Angelo Kanis

    Friday August 8th 2008.

With opening of the Olympic Games just hours away, my attention was drawn to a more local matter. Well, I know an appearance of a state Senator and one-time Presidential candidate is not really local, more a national event considering the Senator is Hillary Clinton and her one-time hopes are technically still alive, but the Senators appearance was only about ten minutes from my house so it seemed local to me.

This story ends up with an average guy from Henderson Nevada shaking hands with one of the worlds most powerful and influential people and asking, almost begging her to please put her name into nomination for the upcoming Democratic convention but that would seem too much of a leap.

Let me go back in time a few days. I was and still am a staunch supporter of Senator Clinton even though I am a registered Republican. When I heard that Senator Clinton was going to appear at one of our local high schools, I thought it might be fun to go see her. I looked online where to get tickets and it turned out to be at an Obama campaign location so I drove over early to get tickets thinking that there would be a bit of a demand. I walked into the Obama office and immediately felt slimy as though I was in some kind of back room at a sleazy bar that ran crap games. I got my tickets and the young, very young man at the table tried to recruit me to me to volunteer to work for the Obama campaign. I looked at him and said no thanks thinking what happen that was so bad in this young mans life that had him so misguided.

When I showed up at the rally, I was besieged by vendors outside the school’s gymnasium hawking their buttons, hats, and t-shirts. Somehow, I still had it in my mind that this was an appearance by Senator Clinton not an Obama rally. There was a decent crowd waiting to get in but I was meeting a PUMA (party unity my ass) member there who was saving a spot in line for me. While waiting in line, we were approached by a woman from The Huffington Post named Mayhill Fowler who was asking some questions. She seemed genuinely surprised that there were so many Hillary supporters in the group. I made sure she wrote down our website http://www.nobamanetwork.com before she left.

Before I entered the gym I had a visual picture in my mind of something like going to a professional football game where you see tiny little figures far away and you watch the scoreboard for replays to really follow the game. This was far from the truth. I was able to walk right up to the security railing not ten feet from the speaker’s podium. I still had a few minutes to wait around and got to chatting with several others in the crowd. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that most people there were just like me; a Hillary supporter and had come to see her speak even though we all knew she would be speaking on behalf of Obama. There were a few speakers on the program but their speeches were short and the crowd respectfully applauded. One of the speakers was Nevada Super Delegate Dina Titus who shockingly spoke of supporting Obama even though Senator Clinton won the state of Nevada caucus and Titus’ vote belongs to Senator Clinton.

Then Senator Clinton was introduced and to my great surprise, I felt tingles up my spine. The entire gymnasium erupted in applause and chants of ” Hill-a-ry Hill-a-ry”. The senator was dressed in a fashionable dark blue pants suit with a string of white pearls. As she spoke of party unity I looked around to see that most of the people in the crowd did not applaud at all when she spoke of supporting Obama. It was clear the majority of the people in this crowd were Hillary supporters and were not switching sides to the Obama camp simply because the DNC selected him. Senator Clinton spoke of an energy plan, health care and some of the problems facing the state of Nevada. I was surprised she did not address the Yucca Mountain issues, but none of the candidates have really addressed that.

When Senator Clinton finished her speech the crowd again erupted as she walked down the steps and started to talk to people in the crowd along the security railing. She took the time to speak with people not just brush by them with a handshake and a smile. When she got to where I was standing I shook her hand and asked her to please put her name into nomination for the convention in Denver. Senator Clinton looked right at me and said “We are definitely taking it to a vote”. When I asked if she had gotten the 300 signatures she needs on the petition, the senator again looked me right in the eye and said “We are taking it to a vote”. I thanked her for all she has done and she thanked me for my support. It was a brief conversation, about 15 seconds, but its one I will never forget.

  206. Upon further analyisis I have decided there is more than one devil.

    1. A Human Question Mark: by now most of us have seen the Nuremberg-style rallies where he paces back and forth across the stage, and delivers his bombastic message of hope. We have witnessed the hypnotic effect this has on impressionable audiences, as they chant his name. We have marveled at how much better he is when he reads through a teleprompter than when he engages in a live debate. We have winced at the serial gaffs which routinely occur when he ventures off script. But we forgive him for all these mishaps because he is Lincoln, Kennedy and King all rolled into one. And surely, anyone can have a bad hair day. Some of us fell in love with Obama at first sight. After all, he is up to the gunnels in hope, and inspiration. However, others were inclined to take a more skeptical view. They focused on his toxic associations (Rezko, Wright, Ayers etc.), megalomaniacal tendencies (the Obama Seal), and transparent lies (9 different stories on whether he heard Wright said). They asked themselves whether this is really the magic elixir for good government. You will be glad to know that I am not here to argue with either side. I merely wish to suggest that there may be slightly more to the story than what you see on stage, on television or the newspaper.

    2. Machiavellian Character: if you examine the record of the primary you find a wide gap between the positive image Obama projects in the media and the Machiavellian way he operates on the ground. I can think of no better example than the time appeared on CNN and told the following lie: “Well Wolf, I think if you watch how we have conducted our campaign, we’ve been very measured in terms of how we talk about Senator Clinton. I have been careful to say, that I think that Senator Clinton is a capable person and that should she win the nomination, I would support her”. In fact, at the very time he was making that false statement he was actively engaged in the politics of personal destruction against Senator Clinton. He and his senior campaign officials questioned Hillary’s integrity, credibility and character. They portrayed her as someone who is dishonest, divisive and disingenuous. They blanketed big states with false radio ads and negative mailers. They fed false stories to the compliant press on a routine basis. They played the race card from the bottom of the deck. And they engaged in a pattern and practice of voter suppression in the caucuses, Michigan and Florida.

    3. No Core Values: it is hard to discern what Obama’s core values are. For example, does he believe in patriotism or Reverend Wright; Democratic principles or Republican ones; privacy or surveillance; lawful immigration or open borders; the survival of the middle class or money to Africa? If you put those questions to him directly I suspect he would say he believes in all of them. That allows him to be all things to all people. But in a world of scarce resources, it would be helpful to know what his priorities are. This is not metaphysics-it is a very important question because it is a harbinger of how he would govern the country. Once we know what his values are we need to determine whether he has the moral courage to adhere to them in the face of adversity. To be clear, all politicians make minor adjustments to their position pursuant to the legislative process. The concern with Obama is that he has gone much further. He has abandoned core Democratic values on multiple fronts. And that leads to the further question of whether he would abandon American values as well if he were to become President.

    4. Dangerous Inexperience: during the campaign Hillary noted the obvious fact that she has experience, John McCain has experience and Obama has a speech he gave on Iraq. This was said in response to his bogus attack for her vote on Iraq. But it highlights the gaping experience deficit in Obama’s resume. By what sophistry of reason is a freshman Senator with no legislative accomplishments, who was a part-time state senator and an adjunct professor of law qualified to be President of the United States? The only possible answer is that the Democratic National Committee and the Kennedy cabal are more concerned with themselves and the party than with the welfare of the country. This is the last thing we need at a time like this when we have two wars and an ailing economy. I do not hold Obama responsible for this—he can’t help himself. It is the party elders like Lee Hamilton, Joe Biden and other great Americans who should be telling the Obama supporters that they are putting the economic security of millions of Americans at risk through this ill conceived exercise in party-building. That Big Media approves of it should give all of us pause since they are also the ones who gave us Bush and the Iraq War. Their judgment is fatally flawed.

    5. Surrender To Big Business: whether the issue is his failure to help poor tenants freezing in a Chicago slum in his district, the watering down of legislation to protect people from the nuclear hazard (Exelon), the reversal of his promise to review the impact of NAFTA on the American people (which his surrogate privately retracted before the Canadian government), his reversal on Campaign Finance Reform (which would have reduced the leverage of Big Business over elections), his reversal on FISA (which would have protected the civil liberties against corporate governmental eavesdropping), his support for billion dollar tax subsidies for Big Oil (who are gouging the public) or his recent legislative initiative to send nearly a trillion dollars to Africa (when we need that money here at home) the answer is always the same: when there is a conflict of interest between Big Business and Americans he consistently comes down on the side of business. Big Business looks for politicians like Obama who have no discernable core values. They will give you what you need if you can figure out a way to make them look good and provide a campaign contribution. To be clear however this is not a bribe. It is merely a token of respect.

    6. Political Supporters: the key political supporter of Obama is a left wing coalition consisting of the Democratic National Committee, Big Media, and the Kennedy cabal. They have separate motivations for doing so. The DNC motivations are institutional and personal. Institutionally they aspire to increase membership, attract contributions and push a neo-lib agenda. Howard Dean is Chairman, the Dean Scream candidate and father of the netrood faction of the base. He is mentor to Obama. Nancy Pelosi is the first female Speaker of the House. She has been compared to Marie Antoinette and sports an approval rating lower than George Bush. She opposes Hillary who is smarter, centrist and would occupy a higher position if she became President. Finally, there is Donna Brazille, the former campaign manager for Al Gore. She is a rotund black woman from Louisiana who is on a mission to change the central coalition of the party from white working class to black under black leadership. Along the way she has sold her soul to the devil.

    7. Financial Supporters: Obama maintains that his financial support comes from a universe of small donors and he does not take money from Washington DC lobbyists. Never let a little thing like the truth stand in the way of a good story. In fact, 60% of his contributions come from big shots. These are multi-national corporations, investment bankers, international law firms, financial speculators and foreign investors. What they seem to like about him besides access is his full commitment to free trade. Thus he would be far less concerned than say Hillary about the adverse impact of NAFTA on our middle class and the protection of our borders. One of his key financial supporters is George Soros who is famous for wrecking markets through speculation. Currently he is actively speculating in oil, mortgage and the dollar. This could have an adverse impact on Americans. There are trillions of dollars waiting offshore to invest in the United States when the prices drop. Hillary wants to regulate the inflow of this money but Obama does not.

    8. The Uncertain Agenda: inasmuch as Obama himself is a human question mark with Machiavellian tendencies, no discernable values and dangerous inexperience, who is supported by a left wing coalitions and big business interests to whom he routinely defers, what pray tell will his agenda look like? Well, that is pure speculation. However, one could speculate that once he grants massive slavery reparations to the black community they will not see much of him again. He will do nothing to protect the white middle class. If Hillary is able to twist his arm on universal health care then something may occur on that front. We can safely assume that he will raise taxes to pay for spending programs and overseas adventures in garden spots like Kenya. That alone may tank the economy. He will be slow to withdraw from Iraq. He will be cautious in diplomacy after some initial mishaps. And God only knows what will happen when he faces a real crisis. He has a passive aggressive personality so his first instinct may well be to hide. The objective is to make damned sure he never gets a chance to screw it all up. PUMA

  207. Really surprised to see Nancy Pelosi saying that. Maybe reading this wrong, but perhaps a VP deal has been struck, which is why BC suddenly agreed to speak at the convention, directly before where the Veep choice normally would.

If u look at this Reuters “interview” Pelosi gave, her quotes on Hillary are “chopped”, meaning almost always they intended to insert those specific words into the dialouge, nothing more.
Put another way, why wouldn’t Reuters run the actual sentence, on such an important topic?
Also, the mention of Richardson is (a joke) possibly a sign that they’re still negotiating.

WASHINGTON – Pundits see Hillary Clinton fading as a possible running mate for Democrat Barack Obama. But House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday referred to her as “the big name” who “would make a great vice president.”

In an interview with Reuters on a range of political and rtx885x.jpglegislative topics (as well as her new book “Know Your Power, A Message to America’s Daughters”), Pelosi said there was a deep bench Obama could choose from in rounding out the Democratic ticket.

Pelosi was asked whether the Obama campaign had signaled Clinton was out of the running because the New York senator and ex-presidential candidate has been slotted to speak on the Tuesday of the Aug 25-28 Democratic convention. The vice presidential nominee traditionally addresses the convention on Wednesday while Obama will speak on the final evening — Thursday.

“I think convention schedules can be changed,” said Pelosi, who will chair the Minnesota convention.
Pelosi was quick to add that she does not have “the faintest idea” who Obama will pick.

I will never forget, nor countenance, the first thing I heard out of Michele’s mouth: “If you can’t run your own house, how can you run the White House?”

ah, freckles. what’s that old saying? “those who live in glass houses..” it will be oh-so-sweet watching the house of obama fall. git yer popcorn ready boys and girls, ’cause the big DNC show of shows is ready to start.

  209. Ive been waiting to try and see what time BC was speaking.
This (if true) tells me those low lives are still angling against us,
    no surprise there..

    From the Atlantic:
As NBC’s Andrea Mitchell reported yesterday, Democratic convention planners have penciled in President Clinton for Wednesday night…

I hear that Clinton has been asked to speak between 9 pm and 10 pm ET. Primetime — sort of. Remember that the television networks will broadcast only the 10pm-11pm hour live, leaving the other two hours of prime time to the cable nets…
On Wednesday, the 10-11pm hour is reserved for two events: putting the candidate’s name over the top and the vice presidential candidate’s speech.

So while Clinton _would_ speak in prime time, he wouldn’t be live on network television, and at most, the networks would briefly excerpt his speech before they turned to live events.

  210. Do they have a name for Edwards baby yet. If its a boy I hope they call him junior. Maybe its just me but the kid is the one I feel sorry for.

  211. freckles/ do you know what emails or where I can read about them. This might explain some of the dynamics I have not been able to understand. Please advise

  212. wbboei
    Great post above.
Have you noticed everytime Obama leaves on vacation something big happens. I wish I could remember the story that broke during the primary when he was on vacation. It was something to do with Hillary, but I can’t remember what it was! Do you remember? What is breaking now other than the Edwards gaf, but her emails, why would that come out now?? This will further allienate his supporters against her, maybe that why they came to pass now. Maybe she had some deals working that Obama did not want and sure enough he went out of town and Axelrove and Solis-Doyle let er rip! Nothing with Obama and his mafia would surprise me.

Group Plans Campaign Against G.O.P. Donors
    Published: August 7, 2008

Nearly 10,000 of the biggest donors to Republican candidates and causes across the country will probably receive a foreboding “warning” letter in the mail next week.

    Stephen Crowley/The New York Times
Tom Matzzie, the leader of Accountable America, an outside left-wing group. Led by Tom Matzzie, a liberal political operative who has been involved with some prominent left-wing efforts in recent years, the newly formed nonprofit group, Accountable America, is planning to confront donors to conservative groups, hoping to create a chilling effect that will dry up contributions.

Lately we’ve too often looked like fools, and the Chinese outdid themselves in artistic expression and athletic co-ordination. 2000 drummers, 2000 dancers, 2000 (actually 2008 of each) tai-chi masters — and so on — and a very very little boy who survived the earthquake when 20 of his 30 classmates died. He got out of the rubble and then returned to save 2 of his classmates. When asked why he did that, he said it was his job — he was a hall monitor. Stunning.

I couldn’t help thinking that he will grow up to be a Sen. McCain or Sen. Clinton…but not a Sen. Edwards or Obama. Just a thought.

  220. Just announced on CNN,

Headline News reports the death of bernie Mack from pneumonia caused by chronic lung disease that had been in remission the past few years.

  221. Freckles

When I saw the little boy, I felt the same way. He has character, and did the right thing even thought he was injured himself. He took responsibility to do the right thing.

I wish politicians had that much character to do the right thing. Obviously they are afraid of something.

This little boy is something else.

I say these words with great pride and faith, for I was married for over 67 years to a woman that I loved and respected and Hillary reminds me every day of why I am fighting for her and her successful run for the Office. Thank you all for allowing me to express my thoughts

  224. ABM,

“And Then There Was The The Only One.HILLARY CLINTON.These are the magic words that will be on the lips ,thoughts and votes by the SD ’s, The Dnc and the 18 million PLUS Hillary supporters.”

I like the way you think. 😉

    Wow . . . 67 years . . what a wonderful marriage.

mj , I meant i don’t know if those comments were originally posted at that site as I have seen them on other sites chat sites as well. Don’t have those links handy and can’t search for them now.

  225. Admin can you embed this video of kwarme Kilpatrick in jail?

What does Obama’s friend and endorser Kwame Kilpatrick and Barack Obama has in common?

  226. Goodbye John Edwards
I’ve never liked John Edwards much. His demise means that I’m now old enough to have personally watched the national rise of a politician, who didn’t impress me, observed him on the trail during two presidential elections, and seen his inglorious demise.

It’s probably a bit cliche at this point for me to write about how classy it is for a man whose wife is struggling with cancer — although, as Edwards soundly pointed out, was in remission at the time — to hook up with some absurd floozy and them brandish the close relationship with his wife on the campaign trail. I would like to pass along a point from the Fabulous Dana, who wasn’t very impressed by Edwards’ assertion that he told the truth “99 percent” of the time. Other than the one difficult fact, Edwards told the truth all the time.

    A couple of other notes:

One bright aspect of the story was the fact that Bob Woodruff, back from a Hellish brain injury in Iraq, got the story.

I empathize with Edwards staff members, whom, in the words of David Bonior, the candidate “betrayed.”

I laughed aloud when Edwards told Woodruff “I have no idea who that child is.”

Edwards campaign consultant in 2004, David Axelrod, the master of the message of hope and change, picked the right candidate when he dumped Edwards and signed on with fellow Chicagoan Barack Obama.

    Where is Obama????

The house of card David Axelrad built is falling apart!

  227. Local news, Richardson is to make two big announcements I think today.

Don’t think it would be VP as O would be here for that.

Not sure what is coming. Most of us are hoping he will quit.

  228. Admin, thank you for all your great articles and this great blog/site,
    it is a Godsend.

Wbboi, you are at your best during the wee hours of the morning.

Obama is a fraud. A bonafide Con Man. He cannot be trusted.
He cannot be trusted. He cannot be trusted.
He is duplicitous, diabolical, and without any democratic values.
The only value he stays true to, is his own self aggrandizement and enrichment.

MSM had better wake up and get off thier ass. they have become a laughingstock.

  229. If Richardson announces he has a brain tumor, I’m hauling my ass to the nearest catholic church and stealing all their holy water. 😉

  230. thier=their

You risk becoming obsolete, due to your complacency.
Why is ‘The fraudulant One’ vacationing in Hawaii at this time?
Doesn’t seem a bit peculiar? everybody else thinks so.

‘FIGHT THE SMEARS’ WEBSITE? What a laugh that is.

Obama’s hubris will be his downfall.
I don’t think the Republicans will take kindly to treats of intimidation from camp obama.

  231. Obama is from Chicago, Chicago has the highest state tax in the nation over 10%.

My dearly departed husband was from Chicago and lived in the 8th ward and his mother still does. So we’ve have gone back to visit and see the continue decay and small business drying up because of the high cost of taxes and lack of government support.

Too much Graft and Corruption…typical Corrupt Chicago Political Machine politics and not enough accountability and responsibility. The school system is a joke and politics are run like gangs turf battles.

Too many political skimming off the top, they the mob, then the wannabees and by the time the money get down to the people…there is not much to spread around.

Thanks a lot DNC, in upgrading a defunct 19 century political system to the national level.

NObama NOvember…it’s Hillary Clinton or McCain, period!!!

  232. I agree about the news media. They have censured and slanted themselves to the point they have become irrelavent.

In addition, when you don’t stick with the truth, it is are to figure out what lie you told the last time. Unfortunately the internet has long memories.

Economics is going to be a big issue. I like that McCain is pointing out the further disappearance of the middle class. But he needs to say more about how he will provide health care to all, and fund it.

Health Care is the number one issue, followed by economics in my book.

  233. Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan on the ballot
    John Wildermuth, Chronicle Staff Writer

    Saturday, August 9, 2008

(08-08) 17:08 PDT SAN FRANCISCO — Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan qualified Friday for a November showdown with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, collecting the signatures needed to get on the ballot as an independent candidate for Congress.

“We’re very excited,” said Sheehan, 51, the mother of a soldier killed in Iraq who is well-known for her protest outside President Bush’s Texas ranch. “Now we have to get organized and regroup.”

Republican Dana Walsh and Libertarian Philip Berg will join Pelosi and Sheehan on the Nov. 4 ballot.

The collection of signatures by Sheehan’s campaign was more exciting than usual. On Wednesday, the campaign was well short of the 10,198 signatures needed to get on the ballot after San Francisco elections officials found that more than 40 percent of the people who signed weren’t registered in the city’s Eighth Congressional District.

Sheehan’s supporters redoubled their efforts to collect enough signatures to beat the 5 p.m. Friday deadline, ultimately turning in more than 17,000 signatures to ensure that she qualified.

“It was a little disconcerting to see all the problems with the signatures,” Sheehan said from her Mission Street headquarters, where more than 100 supporters gathered to celebrate. “The last couple of days, I’ve been checking the registrations myself on the computer.”

With her ballot spot guaranteed, Sheehan can focus on the fall campaign, where she will challenge Pelosi from the left, slamming the speaker for refusing to start impeachment proceedings against President Bush and not taking a stronger stance against the war in Iraq.

“The next part is going to be exciting,” she said. “I want at least one debate with all four candidates so that Nancy Pelosi has to answer for her record.”

Sheehan, a former Vacaville resident who lives in the Mission District, became involved in the anti-war movement in 2004, after her son Casey was killed while serving in Iraq. A year later she founded Gold Star Families for Peace and spoke out against the war in Iraq.

For months, she stayed at “Camp Casey,” an area near President Bush’s Crawford, Texas, ranch where she and other peace activists demonstrated against Bush and the war.

Sheehan will be the longest of longshots in her attempt to oust Pelosi, one of the nation’s best-known and most powerful Democrats.

While Sheehan said Friday that she has raised more than $300,000 for the race, Pelosi had collected more than $2.3 million by the end of June and had $455,138 in the bank.

Sheehan’s campaign also missed the July 15 filing deadline for her most recent federal campaign statement, which Sheehan blamed on the frantic efforts to qualify her campaign for the ballot.

“One of the first things we need to do is hire a professional accountant to deal with those reports,” she said.

  234. threats, not treats.

I hope the Republicans get rightly po’d.
They need a fire lit under their ass.

I am not a republican, but I will not stand for or allow the newdems,
the neoprogressives to run this country into the ground.
No vote for you! My ass.

  235. It’s official, Cindy Sheehan puts Peace and Impeachment “on the table”
    by Cindy Sheehan Campaign
    Friday Aug 8th, 2008 7:46 PM

Below is a repost of a newsletter sent out to supporters this afternoon from Cindy Sheehan’s Campaign Headquarters on Mission Street in San Francisco.

    San Francisco
    August 8,2008

Peace Mom Puts Peace On Ballot, Officially!!!!!!

On behalf of the people of San Francisco and all whom dream of a better tomorrow, we are proud to announce that Cindy Sheehan is officially on the ballot as a candidate for California’s 8th Congressional District Representative to the U.S. House. Cindy is only the 6th Independent candidate ever to be listed on a California election ballot.

There has been an overwhelming and unprecedented show of supporters among San Francisco voters for the Sheehan campaign’s progressive agenda. Over the past few months, hundreds of volunteers and supporters rallied around getting their voices heard in November’s election. After collecting roughly 20,000 signatures, with at least 10,198 qualifying, the Sheehan campaign has proven its viability with flying colors.

Cindy’s access to November’s ballot is evidence of growing discontent among San Francisco voters with the Democratically lead U.S. congress and its inability to end the war, hold the Bush administration accountable for unconstitutional acts, stimulate the economy, reform healthcare, reconsider trade agreements that harm American workers and the environment and cut ties to corporate lobbyists. The Sheehan campaign is offering a new vision for San Francisco and the nation. Cindy believes in peace, accountability, freedom, and well being for all. She believes that war should be a last resort for defense and not the handy policy tool that it is currently being used as. She believes that healthcare is a basic right in a democratic society and should not be based on ability to pay. Cindy knows that it is essential to keep our representatives and leaders accountable to our Constitution and to democratic practices. She knows that we must retool our economy to be in harmony with the environment and its sustainability. Most importantly, Cindy understands that Americans are striving for a new type of politics that has meaning, puts people before profits and that challenges the divisive two party system.

After overcoming its first obstacle by achieving ballot access, the Sheehan campaign is in full gear and ready to achieve victory in November. Over the next few months, the campaign will be working hard to spread its message of peace, accountability, and hope. Thank you to all whom have shown their support by volunteering, donating, advocating, and being the change that we wish to see. Although Cindy is on the ballot, the most challenging part of the campaign is around the corner. We must spread our message more widely, recruit more volunteers, raise more funds and secure more votes. As a grassroots campaign going up against a well oiled machine, we are fighting an uphill battle. Regardless, we have hope. We have hope because we understand the power of people to change society. The civil rights movement and women’s liberation movement within the United States is evidence that if we come together in union, regardless of the odds against us, we can overcome all obstacles. The Sheehan campaign’s message to you today is that, we can overcome! We can overcome fear. We can overcome the military industrial complex. We can overcome corporate domination of our economy. We can overcome environmental degradation. Let us create a society grounded in peace, love, and humanity.

    Onwards to victory!!!!!

Let us elect Cindy Sheehan to the House of Representatives!

  236. Holliston Dems to host forum for hopefuls
    By David Riley/Daily News staff
    MetroWest Daily News
    Posted Aug 08, 2008 @ 12:02 AM

HOLLISTON — The Holliston Democratic Committee is inviting candidates on both sides of the political aisle to a forum next Friday for every state and federal race appearing on the town’s Sept. 16 primary ballot.

The biggest name on the list – Sen. John Kerry – will not be there. Kerry, who is running for a fifth term, is unable to attend because of a scheduling conflict, said Press Secretary Brigid O’Rourke.

But Democratic Committee Chairman Robert Cassidy said Kerry’s challengers – Democrat Ed O’Reilly and Republican Jeff Beatty – have agreed to participate.

Carolyn Dykema, Ed Mills and Dan Haley, the candidates vying to replace outgoing state Rep. Paul Loscocco, have all committed to attend. Dykema and Mills, both Democrats, will face off in the September primary, with the winner facing Haley, a Republican, in the November election.

The forum’s organizers are hoping for a good-sized audience, which will be able to submit written questions for the candidates.

“It doesn’t matter what party affiliation or if you’re affiliated with a party at all,” Cassidy said yesterday. “We would love for individuals to be there, because it’s their interest that’s going to be served.”

The Aug. 15 forum begins at 7 p.m. upstairs at Holliston Town Hall. It comes just five days before an Aug. 20 debate between Dykema and Mills at the Hopkinton Community Access & Media studios.

However, Cassidy stressed that Holliston’s event will not be a debate. Candidates will be allowed to make brief speeches, probably 5 to 7 minutes, before fielding a few audience questions selected by a moderator, he said.

Haley confirmed he plans to attend, and Mills’ campaign manager, Teresa Touhey, credited Cassidy for his hard work organizing the event.

“Any opportunity to get in front of voters and let them ask questions is good,” Dykema said. “I’ll be there.”

The town Democratic Committee is inviting candidates from both parties for a simple reason – there is no longer a Holliston Republican Committee.

The town clerk’s office confirmed yesterday that no one submitted nomination papers to run for the Republican Committee in May’s town election.

Cassidy said his committee made next week’s forum a bipartisan event at the request of the Board of Selectmen.

“We’re kind of charged inadvertently with, by default, to be trying to bring candidates in,” Cassidy said.

Kelly Timilty and Robert Jubinville, both Democrats vying for a second district seat on the Governor’s Council, also have agreed to attend, Cassidy said. State Sen Karen Spilka, D-Ashland, who faces no opposition in her reelection bid, also is expected to participate, he said.

U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern, D-3rd, who also is running unopposed, may attend but has not yet confirmed, Cassidy said.

The forum will be televised and recordings will be distributed to several area towns to be replayed, Cassidy said.

  237. ‘Why Is Nancy Pelosi Taking Care of Personal Business Rather Than the People’s Business?’
Republicans Intensify Attacks on Out-of-Touch House Speaker

    Posted by: Robert Bluey
    Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 06:53PM

Speaker Nancy Pelosi is in Ann Arbor, Mich., tonight promoting her new book. Next week she’ll make stops in several California cities before swinging through Denver on her way to the Democratic National Convention (view complete schedule). Unfortunately for Pelosi, Americans aren’t buying it — the book has an Amazon sales rank of 1,567.

As she talks about her legacy in posh book stores, millions of Americans are struggling to fill up their gas tanks. Pelosi, meanwhile, has repeatedly dismissed the Republican revolt taking place on the U.S. House floor, refusing to address the No. 1 issue facing our country by blocking a vote in Congress. Yesterday she disgracefully mocked the GOP’s call for more energy exploration.

Republicans aren’t letting her get away with it. House GOP Whip Roy Blunt, who led Republicans onto the floor today, put it bluntly: “Why is Nancy Pelosi taking care of personal business rather than the people’s business?” His colleague, Republican Policy Chairman Thaddeus McCotter, came to RedState to mock Pelosi’s “Politburo Palace Guard” known as MoveOn.org for launching a counter-protest.

Blunt was fired up when we spoke his afternoon. Shortly after opening the day’s unofficial session, he went right to the phone and spent much of the day on talk radio. The reaction was overwhelmingly positive.

He said the Democrats’ empty rhetoric about high energy costs would come back to hurt them in September. “If Democrats were sincere, they would join Republicans and sign a discharge petition to force a vote on energy legislation,” Blunt said. He noted that even Rep. Rick Boucher (D-Va.) refused to sign a discharge petition for his own bill, H.R. 2208, the Coal-to-Liquid Fuel Act.

With an eye on the Sept. 30 expiration of the offshore drilling ban, Blunt said Pelosi would be foolish to force a showdown with so many Americans in favor of opening the Outer Continental Shelf to exploration. “There’s no reason for her to include a moratorium in the continuing resolution,” Blunt said.

He’s right. There’s no good reason to do so, except that Nancy Pelosi is trying to “save the planet” — one book at at time.

The “Know Your Power” book tour with Pelosi will visit these cities, according to publisher Random House.

  238. Basil: that is the pattern alright. You do reach a saturation point with this stuff however. There is always stuff in a campaign that should never see the light of day, ideas and options which are proposed and never acted upon. We certainly saw that in the Republican campaigns I was involved in and through a deliberative process these items get debated and discarded. Also, since both sides need a devil there are things said about the other side in confidence that would be said differently. You can see McCain fighting back against this when people in his camp want to keep hammering on Bambis middle name. And that is even true in the pristine world of Chicago. If the media has and is willing to release the flotsam and jetismon of the Obama campaign then we would have some context and basis for comparison. Otherwise we should pay no attention to it because it is just more bullshit from a press corps that will destroy this country.

  239. The only reason I would be interested in Pelosi s book is that it might give a tutorial on how to achieve lower approval ratings than Bush, but I am sure she avoids that embarrassing topic.

  240. Letter: Pelosi’s do-nothing House stinks from the head down
    By TCPalm Staff

    Saturday, August 9, 2008

As the nation watched the speaker of the House (who promised this would be the “most ethical Congress ever”) turn out the lights and shut off the microphones of those who wanted a debate and vote on “Drill Here — Drill Now,” it was an astonishing sight to those of us who would like to see free speech and more responsibility.

She left for a vacation, presumably to “save the planet.”

Nancy Pelosi, some of us would just like to save the decade and there’s no quick or easy way out.

By the time Pelosi’s finished, no small business will be able to survive this arrogance and assault. This kind of intransigence can ruin the country and the president should call them all back!

If I remember correctly, she also shut the House down to go on vacation when the troops needed funding.

Where is the outcry? Especially from the Fourth Estate?

    Mary Ellen Lobb

  241. 08/09/2008
Letter: No one deserves a leader like Pelosi

Nancy Pelosi has adjourned the House of Representatives rather than have the house vote on a bill containing a provision for offshore drilling, even though, by a 3-1 margin, Americans want the drilling and have sided with George Bush on this issue. But rather than give “W” credit for anything, she refuses to have her Democratically controlled body acquiesce to popular opinion and vote for any method to keep the Arab oil lords at bay.

Before taking the congressional helm, Pelosi blamed the president for the energy crisis. Now, instead of providing any solutions at all, she still is blaming the president.

Instead of spending her valuable time leading Congress in resolving our energy crisis, she’s kicking off a national tour to support her new book, “Know Your Power: A Message to America’s Daughters.” That, arguably, is far more important than the oil crisis.

    She may actually be mad!

America usually gets the government it deserves … but no one deserves Pelosi.

Pelosi met by fans and protesters at Ann Arbor book tour stop

U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi promotes her new book, “Know Your Power,” during an appearance Thursday night at the downtown Ann Arbor Borders store.

    • Videos: Video of Pelosi’s visit | Video of protest

Greeted by a throng of admirers and a few dozen protesters, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi stopped in Ann Arbor Thursday night to hawk her new book.

The California Democrat, who spoke at Border’s downtown store, talked about women and leadership in the course of her hour-long talk, moderated by Michigan Radio’s Charity Nebbe. Her book, “Know Your Power: A Message to America’s Daughters,” charts her path to Congress and eventual ascension to becoming the first woman speaker of the House

  244. This election has truly exposed how corrupt and bankrupt, our system really is. Where has democracy gone? Where are the FDR values, to help eliminate poverty in the U.S.? The Native American video that was on the site, last week, was heartbreaking. It is a tragedy, that people live like that in the U.S. BO won’t change any of that. He wants to send a trillion dollars overseas. We need that money here.

As far as the memos, the release is probably, another attempt by the BO campaign to slime Hillary, so that the issue of a roll call vote, becomes mute. Why would the Atlantic Monthly print anything positive about Hillary? The BO camp is eliminating all possible distractions to his coronation at the convention. I hope, I am wrong.

  245. INTERVIEW-Pelosi’s top five list for next U.S. president
    Fri Aug 8, 2008 8:00am

WASHINGTON, Aug 8 (Reuters) – When the next U.S. president moves into the White House on Jan. 20, 2009, he shouldn’t be surprised to get a call from Nancy Pelosi on Capitol Hill with a list of legislative demands.

“End the (Iraq) war, expand health care, create jobs through innovation, rebuild infrastructure and ensure our energy independence.” In that order.

Those are the top five priorities for next year as laid out by Pelosi, speaker of the House of Representatives and a California Democrat, in an interview with Reuters.

She would be in strong position to pursue that agenda, especially if her party makes gains in the House and Senate and fellow Democrat Barack Obama wins the presidency over Republican John McCain in the Nov. 4 elections.

In a telephone interview from Philadelphia, where she was promoting her new book “Know Your Power, A Message to America’s Daughters,” Pelosi offered up a legislative recipe that in some ways is at odds with the latest public sentiment.

When progress finally is being made in Iraq, after a 5-1/2-year slog, Pelosi wants to kick off the Congress that convenes in January with votes to impose troop withdrawal deadlines that Republicans have been fighting tooth-and-nail.

As voters complain about ever-growing government programs, Pelosi says “we need trillions” in new money to invest in rebuilding roads, bridges, sewers and other disintegrating public works. But she is quick to say it should not be financed by the “central treasury” and she is considering a novel idea: creating a public-private “infrastructure development bank.”

With consumers demanding relief from high gasoline prices, Pelosi has snubbed Republican demands to lift a ban on offshore oil drilling in protected areas, calling the idea a “hoax.”

“Although people are desperate and want a reduced price, this (drilling) isn’t going to make this happen, no matter how unpopular it may be to hold that position. Nonetheless it is the right thing to do,” Pelosi said.

  246. The GOP talking storm: It’s still thundering

The tourists continue to pour onto the House Floor while Republicans continue their week-long talking tangent.

Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.) explained his perspective on the history of the “Greatest Generation” of World War II. Other subjects he covered were Communist Russia, industrialization, and the Civil Rights Movement. He said the test of this generation is the energy challenge.

Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) said “people are calling [the Republican’s talkathon] historic.” Last Friday, it may have been a stunt, but now it is serious, he said. He told the crowd that they are first-hand witnesses and so they should spread the word. Jokingly, he told the younger people to instant message people about it.

One man sitting in the front row raised his hand for a comment or question, but McCotter ignored him, and the man walked out shortly.

McCotter said Congress needs to develop “common sense” solutions to the oil crisis.

“In the Midwest, if you don’t use common sense, you freeze to death,” McCotter said.

McCotter compared House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to someone walking into a job interview. If someone walks into a job interview and tells the prospective boss about a secret solution to a major problem, then the boss will think they have better ideas than other prospects and hire that person. A year later, the problem gets bigger, the person gives up, and takes a 5-week paid vacation, McCotter said.

Many Republicans and Democrats agree on bringing Congress back in session to address the oil crisis, but Pelosi will not do anything about it, McCotter said.

  247. The View From Prospect Hill

So how’s the five-week vacation going, Congressman Capuano? You can’t drive all that far with gas hovering around $3.90 per gallon now during the summer and will most likely be $4.25 or higher by the time winter gets here. By that time, home heating oil is expected to be anywhere from $4.90 to well over $5.00 per gallon -that hurts people from all types of economic backgrounds…from money makers to fixed income seniors.

Maybe your whacko-liberal friend, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, doesn’t care about her constituents and the coming winter months – but you should care. It’s ALL about partisan politics in Washington, D.C. these days…the bitterness and hatred between the two parties is shameful and we, the people, are the ones who will suffer in the end.

Sure, a break from the typical “blame game” is nice – but not when there are issues vital to our nation’s survival economically and environmentally.

The “party of the people” has more whacked-out liberals in it (in power) than is healthy for us as a nation right now. Do we like what Bush has done as President? No, not really – but that doesn’t mean there needs to be a mass exodus from the middle to the far left.

We feel for the people of Darfur, but what the Hell does that have to do with the price of gas or oil right now? What the Hell does that have anything to do with global warming and reducing our own personal carbon footprints? Nothing.

We have seen on numerous news channels that Americans overwhelmingly want to decrease our nation’s dependence on foreign countries for vital resources – especially oil – up to 75 percent of them want to consider increasing drilling off shore and in other rural areas of the country. Even the Democratic candidate for president has indicated he would be open to such measures – but not Nancy Pelosi – who realizes that the only troops she can send home are her minions in Congress. How nice for her. How nice for them.

Partisan politics shouldn’t be getting in the way of doing what is right. What happened to being an independent voice? What happened to not being the standard bearer for anyone other than the people you were elected to represent?

The entire Congress, not just the Massachusetts delegation, should be ashamed of themselves. Imagine that – a five-week vacation – and winter will be here in no time. Do the math for a minute – if heating oil gets to $5.00 per gallon and your tank is 250 gallons, that’s $1,250 every time you fill the tank – and let’s say that you fill the tank 6 times in a season – that’s $7,500 for heat for one season. Is that kind of increase included in social security payments to our seniors?

This is the kind of disconnect that should be unacceptable to the average person on the street – the perfect reason why we shouldn’t have low voter turnouts. JFK and Tip O’Neil are probably rolling over in their graves with this party line silliness. The Congress should have said “no” to Speaker Pelosi’s idea of taking a vacation when we need to deal with paramount issues like creating a comprehensive energy package that focuses on alternative energy sources – including large-scale wind farms, expansion of domestic oil production, re-evaluation of nuclear, hydrogen and fossil-based fuel sources and reducing the average carbon footprint of the masses.

Instead, they’re so worried about getting their candidate elected to the White House that things will most likely get a lot worse before they get better – the problem is – when will it start to get better? McCain Looks For “Reagan, Clinton” Democrats in Arkansas
    By Doug Thompson

ROGERS – U.S. presidential hopeful John McCain arrived in Rogers on Friday, looking for Republican donors and voters along with votes from Democrats.

“We need to reach out to independents, old and new, what we used to call Reagan Democrats and some you might call Clinton Democrats as well,” the Arizona senator said at a news conference at the Embassy Suites hotel in Rogers, just before a 5 p.m. fundraiser there.

He referred to conservative Democrats that were vital to the election of President Ronald Reagan in 1980 and 1984, and to moderate Democrats who supported Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., a former Arkansas first lady. Clinton carried 70 percent of the Democratic primary vote in Arkansas against the nominee-apparent, Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois.

“Arkansas is very important, and I believe it’s going to be a swing state,” McCain said.

This was McCain’s second public visit to Arkansas since April. Obama hasn’t made a public stop in the state since September 2006. Calls to Obama’s headquarters in Chicago for a response were not returned. State Democratic chairman Bill Gwatney told The Associated Press on Friday that McCain would not visit the state so frequently if he wasn’t concerned about losing it in the election.

McCain also reached out to Huckabee Republicans, attending the $500-a-person fundraiser along with former Arkansas governor and presidential rival Mike Huckabee. McCain about 200 supporters attended the fundraiser, including 3rd District Rep. John Boozman of Rogers.

“If John Boozman and Mike Huckabee can transfer some of their popularity to my campaign, then thank God for them,” McCain said during the fundraiser. “We’ve got a lot of work to do in this campaign and I’m the underdog, my friends.” The audience also included two of Boozman’s predecessors as 3rd Congressional District representative, John Paul Hammerschmidt and Asa Hutchinson.

“There was a time before this time a year ago where most political pundits didn’t think the former governor from a small southern state nor this guy from Arizona whose campaign had imploded had much of a chance,” McCain said of him and Huckabee, adding that the two men had forged a bond during the primary.

Huckabee also praised McCain but joked, “I want you to know with the utmost sincerity he really was my second choice to be president of the United States.”

McCain’s appearance in Rogers comes one day after a meeting in Springdale in which town representatives were told the federal highway trust fund is losing money because the per-gallon federal fuel taxes that go into it are declining as Americans drive less. McCain has proposed a fuel-tax holiday to help drivers afford gasoline in the summer months. Asked about this and federal highway needs, McCain said that “pork-barrel” spending from the highway trust fund has to be eliminated and drivers need some relief first, before looking at ways to restore road funds.

“We’re building a bridge in Alaska to an island that has 50 people on it out of the highway trust fund,” McCain said. “We’re paying for museums out of the highway trust fund.”

High gasoline prices are hurting low-income Americans the most, “the ones with the oldest automobile and the farthest to drive,” McCain said. They need relief and “to be honest, there’s $9 to $10 billion or more in the last highway bill that’s pure pork. That money is needed for roads in Arkansas and, very frankly, for my home state of Arizona.”

McCain also criticized Obama again for their differences on energy policy. “My policy is ‘all of the above,'” McCain said, referring to increased off-shore drilling for oil, alternative fuels, solar and wind power, nuclear energy and other policies. Obama seems to consider increased domestic oil production and alternative sources as “either-or,” McCain said, “half-measures taken while hoping the problem will solve itself.”

Congress went into recess without approving an energy bill, a move McCain criticized. He said he was hopeful a group of 10 moderate Republican and Democratic lawmakers could come up with an acceptable alternative during the recess, but that appears to be unlikely considering that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is not willing to bring an offshore drilling bill to a vote. “Let’s have the votes, then respect the outcome,” McCain said. He also said that “clean coal” technologies would be key to U.S. energy policy.

Asked whether former Arkansas governor and presidential rival Mike Huckabee would be his vice presidential nominee, McCain didn’t say yes or no. He said Huckabee has “earned himself a major role in Republican politics. He’s a fine and decent man who I’m proud to call my friend.” Huckabee was also “a very fine governor of this state” and “I’m glad his wife’s maiden name is McCain.”

  252. I honestly never post on any other site other than this one. Too many opinions kills brain cells. I read TM but never post there. I used to post at mydd but that placed turned into a rat hole for Obamabots so I packed up and left.

you know basil, even I don’t think you and I ever butted head so I don’t see why they used my handle to bash you. doesn’t make sense.

I used to insult Sonja a lot – because I thought she was a troll — so she would have been the better person.

  253. Basil, it’s happened before. If you look at the link you posted the comments make no sense in that thread. But you know, I don’t know why people do this stuff.

  254. Nancy Pelosi’s 5 Week Vacation We’re Paying For, Day 7

I have never thought liberals/Democrats were right about very many things. In fact, no things. But I never really thought it was because they were stupid. Misguided, but not stupid. After all, the legend of the college educated, accomplished liberal is really ingrained in all of us. They are supposed to be smart. The rest of us are simple, uneducated, unsophisticated beings barely functioning on more than an amoebic level–just reacting to stimuli.

Well, this is all changing for me. I think some of these people ARE stupid.

  255. Must go now… still delighting in Edwards’ downfall. I hate that phony with a vengeance. You guys should check out a quote he made about Bill Clinton in 1999… damn hypocrite!

  256. filbertsf: I think, I posted that quote, earlier in the thread.

Edwards chickens have come home to roost.

  257. Nero fiddled, Nancy and Barry went on vacation

Nancy Pelosi is using her five week vacation to try to sell her book. Face it, the book needs it. But a handful (whose numbers are increasing daily) of brave GOP Congressmen are committed to calling Speaker Pelosi back to vote on a viable energy bill. That is if the Gang of Ten (thanks DJ) don’t sabotage them in midstream. So far, Nancy has shown she doesn’t care that the American people are struggling and they want this vote. It’s not what she wants.

Then it’s Barack’s turn. After his Tour de Farce didn’t produce the poll numbers he wanted and in fact may have sent his numbers on a nose dive, you’d think that a candidate would be trying to get his message out every day.

But not Barack. He’s off to Hawaii to visit his typical-white-person grandma. Hopefully she’s recovered now from the tire tracks left by the bus he threw her under.

While he’s there, maybe he’ll have time to get a real copy of his birth certificate.

But seriously, an odd time to go vacationing, don’t you think? Sure the Olympics are on, but they’re not the draw they used to be. Well, maybe with the exception of the synchronized tank driving.

The polls are showing this race to be a dead heat. Not a good sign for a Democrat in the summer. And John McCain is currently winning the ad war with a brilliantly designed series of ads running on the Internet.

Barack says he’s tired after 18 months of campaigning.

How does he think he’s going to feel after 10 years in the White House?

  258. Obama: Edwards and wife Elizabeth won’t be at convention; need healing

    Associated Press – August 9, 2008 11:54 AM ET

DENVER (AP) – Presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama says that John and Elizabeth Edwards probably won’t be attending the Democratic National Convention in Denver later this month.

Speaking to reporters yesterday while in Honolulu shortly after Edwards admitted to an extramarital affair in 2006, Obama says the Edwards need to work through quoting — “that process of healing.”

Obama also praised Edwards as a “great champion of working people.”

Edwards — who denied fathering the woman’s daughter — dropped out midway through this year’s primaries after it became apparent he could not keep up with front-runners Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton. He recently endorsed Obama and had been mentioned as a possible running mate.

  259. The sad part about the Democrats’ inanities is that conservatives are going to say, “See? That’s what you get with liberals (or even progressives).

I don’t consider Obama a true progressive or liberal — but then I don’t consider him a true anything.

As for Pelosi, she has been a very disappointing leader — but then she hasn’t gotten a lot of help from the men. I think some of them have been
undermining her since that election kerfuffle.

Obama might set back the progressive movement for decades.

  260. BASIL,

  261. Aggrieved Clinton fans attack caucuses as Democrats meet
By Steven Thomma | McClatchy Newspapers

PITTSBURGH — Devoted Hillary Clinton supporters urged the Democratic party Saturday to get rid of caucuses, the town hall meetings in states such as Iowa where Clinton’s presidential campaign stumbled and Barack Obama launched his march to the nomination.

“We need to get rid of caucuses,” said Melissa Whitener, a waitress from Conneaut, Pa., who traveled to lobby the Democratic National Committee as it prepared its party platform.

“Caucuses are inherently unfair,” she said. “I work in a restaurant. I can’t take off a whole shift to go sit in a caucus. We need to all be on the same primary system. Why should 2,000 people in Iowa have the same say as 2 million in Pennsylvania?”

Whitener and a small group of Clinton supporters planned to press the Democratic National Committee’s platform committee Saturday to call for an end to caucuses. They attended as guests.

Bob Remer, a Clinton delegate from Illinois, drafted a caucus-banning amendment.

“Caucuses undermine . . . core Democratic values,” the amendment said. “Caucuses inherently disenfranchise the elderly, disabled, shift workers, single parents, and others whose circumstance prohibits participation in caucuses. The 2008 primaries illustrated that a caucus vote is worth more than a primary vote because each delegate elected by caucus represents fewer votes than each delegate elected by (a) primary.”

The Clinton supporters also urged the committee to amend the party platform to adopt a winner-takes-all system of primaries and an end of the proportional allocation of nominating delegates.

While likely to fail, their proposal underscored the lingering sense that Clinton was treated unfairly in her historic campaign.

It came as Clinton’s camp continued to talk with Obama’s about whether the Democratic National Convention will include a roll call vote that would allow her delegates will get a chance to formally demonstrate their support.

The draft party platform did acknowledge Clinton’s successes and includes a veiled suggestion that she was treated unfairly.

Howard Dean, the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, introduced the proposed platform by noting that it salutes Clinton and reflects “the influences not just of the Obama camp but the influences of the campaign of Hillary Rodham Clinton.”

The draft platform, which was to be approved by the 186-member Committee Saturday and sent to the Democratic National Convention for final approval, praised Clinton for becoming the first woman in history to win presidential primaries.

“Our party is proud that we have put 18 million cracks in the highest glass ceiling,” it added, a bow to the total of votes Clinton received in the caucuses and primaries.

It also said, “We believe that standing up for our country means standing up against sexism and all intolerance. Demeaning portrayals of women cheapen our debates, dampen the dreams of our daughters and deny us the contributions of too many. Responsibility lies with us all.”

Clinton supporter Gloria Novotny of Wilson, Pa., called it needed recognition.

“They did a really bad thing to her. The bias against her was so bad,” she said.

She cited demeaning items such as a Hillary Clinton nutcracker and emails that used profanities to refer to her.

“The bias was so bad,” Novotny said. “This is not the way they’d talk about their wife or mother or daughter.”

    Begging and getting thrown scraps.

Howard Dean has been the worst DNC chairman evah and if the Democratic? Taliban Party think women are going to settle for scraps after the party selected a no resume candidate who happens to be black.

Protected that lying, hypocrit and possible criminal John Edwards and promoted his spoiler tactics for Obama…..

  262. Yeah, filbert is huge on free speech too. I remember I would apologize for saying something about BO that I thought went over the line, and she would say don’t apologize! You have a right to your opinion, etc.. Also, she traveled all over the country for Hill. I just doubt she is a troll.

  267. Edwards furious with ABC News
    August 9, 2008

John Edwards’ ludicrous denials of an extramarital affair crumbled on Friday when ABC News applied enough pressure to get Edwards to agree to an interview – and an admission – finally giving the story first reported in the National Enquirer legitimacy in the eyes of the mainstream media.

The flood gates opened early Friday afternoon when Brian Ross and producer Rhonda Schwartz posted a story on ABCNews.com stating that Edwards had admitted to an affair with Rielle Hunter, a videographer who was paid in excess of $100,000 by the Edwards campaign to make a few short web videos.

The Enquirer reported last week that Hunter told a friend that Ewards was the father of her 5 ½ month old child. Edwards continues to insist that he is not the father, though he has not taken a paternity test.

The ABC News story was picked up by the cable news networks and the endless media loop began.

Even as his continued denials became untenable, Edwards attempted to control (and futilely limit) the media exposure.

Ross and his producers at ABC News had been insistently dogging Edwards for some time, uncovering the money trail from an Edwards’ campaign contributor, Fred Baron, to Hunter, who was installed in a $3 million house in Santa Barbara, Calif.

But Edwards insisted that the interview be exclusive to ABC’s late-night news program Nightline and that Bob Woodruff, not Ross, conduct the interview.

ABC News confirmed that Edwards asked for Woodruff, who is not a Nightline anchor. (Woodruff covered Edwards during the 2004 presidential campaign when the former North Carolina senator was a Democratic presidential contender and then John Kerry’s running mate.)

The Nightline interview, Woodruff explained at the top of the program yesterday, was conducted early Friday afternoon at Edwards’ home in Chapel Hill, N.C. “There were no restrictions on what we could ask,” he said, “but he gave me a limited amount of time.”

Woodruff did not press Edwards on the bizarre tale involving former Edwards’ campaign aide Andrew Young, who has claimed paternity of Hunter’s baby. Edwards denied knowing anything about Young’s involvement with Hunter. But Woodruff did extract a concession on the paternity issue, with Edwards saying he would be “happy to participate” in a paternity test.

Edwards had hoped to control the news cycle by making his admission late on a Friday night when the country was watching the Olympics and the long weekend yawned ahead.

According to multiple sources, Edwards was apoplectic that ABC News began promoting the story early on Friday, giving the rest of the media a chance to play catch-up and site ABC News’ report. (Representatives for Edwards did not return a call or e-mail for comment.)

Edwards subsequently made solicitous calls to multiple reporters including CBS News’ Bob Schieffer, who also talked to a distraught Elizabeth Edwards.

According to ABC News spokeswoman Natalie Raabe, it was agreed that “promotion of the interview could begin immediately after it was completed.” Additionally, she said, “quotations” could be used on Friday’s World News where Edwards’ words, not footage from the interview, were used via an on-screen graphic in a report fronted by Ross.

  268. kostner Says:

Edwards says he does not love his mistress, and their relationship ended long time ago. But why the meeting two weeks ago?

Maybe he loves this woman, or maybe he just enjoys sex with a nice looking blonde woman.

Conspiracy theory time: Edwards had the affair to get street cred with the macho NASCAR set, to offset the Ken doll rep.

  269. New York, 1:57 PM

Mistress’ Little Sister Puts the Smack-Down on John Edwards

John Edwards’ former lover Rielle Hunter may be keeping mum while the former politician drags her name through the mud, but Rielle’s kid sister, Melissa, is having none of it. She doesn’t buy Edwards’ claims that he isn’t the father of Rielle’s baby. She wants the man to take a paternity test. And she wants him to shut the f— up! “I wish that those involved would refrain from bad-mouthing my sister,” she says. “In the first reaction from Hunter’s family, her younger sister Melissa told ABC News that Edwards should immediately follow through on his pledge to take a paternity test. ‘I would challenge him to do so,’ the sister said. ‘Somebody must stand up and defend my sister.'”

“Melissa said Rielle was being falsely portrayed as a ‘promiscuous person’ and was not involved in ‘setting up’ Edwards at the hotel meeting.”

“‘She is a good and honest person, the sweetest and most caring woman one could ever hope to meet,’ the sister said. ‘Do you think it’s easy for us to just sit back and let everyone rip her to shreds and not defend her honor?

This is what Obamabotism is about: negativity, slandering, no originality.

    1. A Remarkable Woman: Hillary Rodham Clinton is a remarkable woman. Since she and her husband came on the national scene in 1991, no one has commanded as much public attention and scrutiny both pro and con. Who else can you think of that has had 70 books written about her? I must confess that I have evolved from a skeptic to an ardent supporter to what I am now which is to say a realistic one. She is the most impressive political leader I have ever met. I am quite certain she would be a great president. I firmly believe that Hillary has the knowledge judgment and experience to address the serious issues facing this nation whereas her opponent does not. Thus, I continue to hope she gets the nomination or a position of Senate leadership. If that does not happen then woe betide the middle class and working poor. She is the last significant Roosevelt liberal left on the stage.

    2. The Affirmative Case: for Hillary Rodham Clinton begins with her impressive curriculum vitae. She is a two term U.S. Senator (D-NY), a former First Lady of the United States, a wife and mother. She passed more legislation than any freshman senator in history, and was once slated to be the first female president of the American Bar Association. She has devoted her life to like education and health care are now critical priorities in a global economy. She is a devout Methodist committed to helping people in need.
She entered the 2008 presidential race not as a woman per se, but as someone who would provide government solutions to the country’s urgent problems. In the debates she demonstrated a tremendous grasp of the issues which put her opponents to shame. Following the exit of John Edwards, she became a powerful voice for millions of Americans who have been invisible to the power elites. She pressed hard for enfranchisement of all voters against the will of her own party. Along the campaign trail, women sensed her compassion, men saw her tenacity, and people began to realize that she was the only presidential candidate who understood their issues and had the moral courage to fight for them. At the conclusion of the process, she won 18 million votes–more than any primary candidate in history. To the middle class and working poor she was brilliant, beautiful Evita; to Pennsylvania Governor Rendell she was “an intelligent sophisticated populist”; and to many Americans she was the paradigmatic Democrat. But her husband put it best: she was always a great public servant; but during the course of the campaign she became something even more: a great political leader. From a personal standpoint, I would have to say she was never better than she was on the night of the South Dakota victory.

    4. The Opposing Case: Hillary Rodham Clinton is primarily interested in power and will sacrifice friends and principles to achieve it. They see her as a pushy lady lawyer who came down to Arkansas and threw her weight around. When she was First Lady of the United States she used the power of that office to micromanage decision making and to retaliate against enemies. She tried to take over the private health care system and held secret meetings to do so. And she supported Bill when she should have divorced him. Mind you these are not my arguments but the ones you tend to hear from people who oppose Hillary. Too often, these charges are politically inspired, and call to mind Mark Twain’s remark that a lie can travel around the world faster than the truth can move across the room.

    5. The 2008 Campaign: Hillary’s performance in the presidential campaign raised further questions among some of her loyal supporters. On the campaign trail she was our War Goddess who persevered against a Machiavellian opponent, Big Media and Globalist Money. She won the popular vote, told supporters to never give up in life and promised to fight on to the Convention to secure the nomination. But then a few days later she did a complete reversal, suspended her candidacy and endorsed the same opponent whose campaign had labeled her a racist and tried to destroy the legacy of her husband. That was bad enough. Then she began campaigning on his behalf and asked her fundraisers to support him. But he did nothing of substance in return. He failed to reduce her campaign debt, allowed his supporters to go on booing her and permitted the always uncouth Senator McCaskill to crack jokes to the press. He told Hillary’s supporters to get over it, had confederates like Pelosi and Michelle issue mawkish statements praising her former candidacy and demanded party unity. And Big Media proclaimed gleefully the end of the Clinton era, noticed she was parting her hair differently and took this as a clear sign that she was falling apart.

    6. Political Reality: when Hillary went on her tour d force and promised to fight on to the Convention she meant every word of it. But when she returned home and discovered that her opponents had bribed or coerced over 100 undecided super delegates to vote against her at the Convention she saw the handwriting on the wall. If it had been her alone then I believe she would have fought on to the convention– even if it meant the end of her own political career. After all, she is deeply committed to the issues, and relishes a good fight. But she also had to consider what that fight would mean to the political future of her supporters and to her own ability to effectively represent the people of her state. And, Big Media would have misrepresented any effort on her part to fight on to the Convention as a deranged attempt to destroy the party and its black nominee for selfish spiteful reasons. Therefore, she suspended her candidacy, endorsed her opponent, retained her delegates, and entered into negotiation with her opponent to define her future role. The probable issues in that negotiation are the inclusion of her middle class solutions in the party platform, recognition for the eighteen million people who voted for her, a major speaking engagement at the convention and a key role in the Senate. The political challenge she faces at this point is to keep faith with her 18 million supporters without undermining the fragile nominee she is now supporting.

    7. Hillary Hate: the question is why do people attack Hillary this way? I am sure some of it relates back to the Clinton presidency and who her husband is. Some of it is petty stuff like death warmed over Maureen Dowd is reported to have a crush on Bill, mousey Andrea Mitchell is miffed because Hillary did not allow her to use the Rose Garden for her wedding reception when she married that hunk Allen Greenspan, and snooty Campbell Brown has a crush on Obama. But if you put all that nonsense aside and look at the record as a whole you realize that the real reason for Hillary hate is because she represents a credible challenge to the status quo in terms of her gender, her economic policy and her willingness to fight the entrenched interests on behalf of the American People. Others have challenged the system, but they did not have the power, the political skills, and the moral courage that she does. Simply put, Hillary is a game changer, and that bothers people.

    8. Not Gender: some people believe that the reason they attack Hillary is because of her gender. They argue that our society is organized along patriarchal lines, and the good old boy club will never take orders from a woman. I will accept that explanation but only up to a point. If the motive for these attacks was gender then the military would be the first to reject Hillary, because they are the most patriarchal order in the county. But the fact is 35 flag officers including a five star general and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff have endorsed her candidacy. Why is that? First of all, they understand the rigors of leadership and belong to a profession where there is no margin of error. Second, they know Senator Clinton’s capabilities based on the fine work she has done as a valued member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Third, they recognize the essential qualities of a great leader and they see that she has them. During the campaign, many men were very impressed with the way Hillary fought on against biased media and an opponent who outspent her 3 to 1, never complained and won primary after primary. That is what I mean by War Goddess.

    9. Radical Feminists: of the Hanoi Jane persuasion claim they would accept a woman president, but not that woman. Typically, those paragons of virtue have hidden motivations they do not care to disclose. But if you take their argument on its merits then the question becomes: “if not her then whom; if not now then when?” You will not get a responsive answer. Why? Because they know the truth and so do we: when a highly competent woman tried to shatter that final glass ceiling for the benefit of all of us, and was subjected to prehensile tactics by the old boy network the very people who whine about sexism in their own lives turned a blind eye and a deaf ear. But now of course the moment of decision has passed and they will be keen to talk about it, whine about it and assume a mantle of virtue they do not deserve.

    10. Root Cause: I believe the main reason why people in power attack Hillary is because of the economic policies they believe she would implement. They argue that she would institute a “nanny state” in lieu of the glorious free market. This is absurd. They claim she would raise taxes and increase spending. The truth is Hillary is a fiscal conservative. But to these people fantasies matter more than facts. Most of us realize that our nation cannot continue on as we have these past eight years, e.g. the militancy that bled the Athenian democracy dry, the endless borrowing from China to buy Saudi Oil, the importation of tainted goods, the low educational results, the rising cost of health care, no control of our borders and the lack of a credible energy policy, etc. These are the unmistakable signs of national decline. We need a problem-solver–not a bamboozler.

    11. Practical Solutions: Hillary offered practical solutions to our nation’s problems. But that placed her on a collision course with the powerful economic interests that control the Big Media and Congress. Thus, when she proposed universal health care she became a threat to the insurance companies and health care providers who control the current system. When she proposed an alternative energy policy, she became a target of the oil industry. And when she stood before the American people in Ohio and proposed to re-examine NAFTA to make sure it is operating for their benefit, global business interests complained to Congress. But in each case, Hillary stood her ground, which is a testament to her moral courage, and her willingness to do what is right for the American People. Can the same be said for her opponent?

    12. Abiding Faith: if you want to know how to evaluate a political leader do not bother to ask their friends; pay no attention to journalists who have never been politicians themselves; instead, ask their adversaries and you are most likely to hear the truth. When I said that Hillary is a remarkable woman, I was quoting the late William F. Buckley founder of the National Review. McCain’s people have told me the same thing– she is a great political leader with whom they have strong policy differences. Say what you will about Republicans they are smart enough to know a thoroughbred when they see one. Not for nothing did Karl Rove make her the target of his attacks and conspire with traitor Donna Brazille to destroy her candidacy and displace the centrist wing of the party. But Hillary is as committed to this country today as she was when she graduated from Yale Law School and turned down a lucrative position at Williams and Connelly for a life in public service. We are all better off because of it. So what is the faith that sustains her when most of us would throw in the towel? I believe it is the deep faith she has in her religion and in this country which can be summed up in one sentence of the speech she made in Florida: “to be a citizen of this country is to have the right and responsibility to help shape its future, not just to make your voice heard, but to make it count”. That faith is true and adorable.

  275. Ok we had the issue right but apparently the wrong country, i’ve just seen on the web in various places and on the radio, that there is an issue that someone has found out that Obama has both Kenyan and American citizenship since 1963. Does that not rule him out legally.

  276. Further “insights” from the shadow web-site dude

    Sunday, July 27, 2008
John McBush has another very bad week

Let me guess. How many “terrible weeks” in a row has McCain had, according to the NutBlogosphere and MSM?? And how many supercalifragilisticexpialadocious weeks in a row has Obama had?? Sandwiched in between European Vacation and Hawaiian Vacation? Which obviously explains why Obama is so far ahead in all the polls….NOT.

    These people are delusional.

Shadow site admin has to be a dude, and a sexist one at that, given how much hate he has toward women.

And for that matter, PUMAs are not “crazy women”, they are sane women, and sane men. I am a long time Dem male, progressive, and yet, Party Unity My Ass!!!!

The corrupt Dem leadership must be taken down.

At work, no problem. \

    Here’s the error I get:

noquarterusa.net could not be found. Please check the name and try again”.

    I cleared DNS cache:
    Start -> Run > ipconfig /dnsclear

And a few other things I checked seem alright.

Anyone have any ideas? NQ is such a great resource, and not having access to it on the weekends or nights sucks.

  284. Here is my prediction…

Bill Clinton told BHO there will be no vetting of Hillary, that BHO must put her on the ticket or Bill will personally see that BHO lose the election. PERIOD. End of story.

Hillary deserves the presidency, but our country deserves Hillary in whatever capacity she choses to serve.

don’t beat me up. I’m betting she’s still on the list for VP and thats what all the negotiating is about.

no other person qualifies and can carry the country for the democrats like she can.

the dnc is going to give the nomination to BHO, and second place is not the best place but she would be in line for the presidency in 2016 or “any other reason that might stop BHO in his tracks before that” !!!!

  285. Idunn, I saw your name. you weren’t left out. 🙂

Seriously, that person thinks we are nuts, what about someone who lurks at other sites, gathers information, takes screen shots, bothers to write a narrative about our postings? That person needs to look at themselves in the mirror.

  286. This is a small, tame example of what wonk has been doing. The other stuff isn’t amusing.

Actually an indy candidate only has to be on a few states ballots. States where they have the best chance of winning those states. If an indy could win a couple of states that might be enough to send the election to the house of representatives. Once there anything can happen.
Ignores the fact that no Indy candidate has ever come close to winning a majority in a single state in any presidential election, ever.
And the fact that if you’re not on the ballot in all the states, there’s no way to beat the candidates who are.

I want to find out how to report this.

that site is one of the reasons some of the regulars dropped out, including artiste.

Some of the sh!t posted is nasty and dangerous. . . to us.

P.S. AB…looking mighty fine for a man of your age. 🙂

Wonk can’t have posted a pic or an email addy from me.

  290. wwboei is discussed a lot. I did see some pics, e-mail addys, and names. I was called a racist.

Wonk made fun of artiste reporting it, to Homeland Security.

  291. idunn,

I haven’t sifted through all the trash, yet. So far I’ve seen detailed ifo about a half dozen 44 regulars but nothing on you other than a couple of postings.

Seems like 44 mostly dropped off Won’s radar for the past month but april-june posts were filled with nasty stuff, screen shots of comments, etc.

I’m thinking about changing my name, here.

  292. I haven’t sifted through all the trash, yet. So far I’ve seen detailed ifo about a half dozen 44 regulars but nothing on you other than a couple of postings.

I’m very careful to protect my identity on the internet. See why I didn’t want you to pass on my email from the other space? Wonk won’t find shit on me. Even if he knew my real name, he still wouldn’t be able to find shit on me. I’m a ghost, I tell ya! 😉

  293. Thank you ( basil9 ) for your kind words. It has been a pleasure to be in touch with you and so many brilliant soldiers in the fight to have Hillary nominated and elected as our most qualified person that this country has ever chosen as our 44th President.Keep up the good fight and again many thanks.

Debbie, why in the world would Bill want Hillary to tie up to Obama and iron his shirt for several years?

Hillary is being nice to the Dems and polite to Obama, but Bill is acting very cool and hostile to Obama — yay Bill! But that isn’t how Bill would act if he wanted Hillary as VP.

Hillary does not want VP, servant of Obama. She is happy in hte Senate and has a good chance to win Pres in 2012. VP might interfere with that.

  296. There is another site, with our postings on it:

  297. This question keeps me fighting on for Hillary.
If Obama is touted as a very astute and brilliant person and he and Hillary are still contending: How is it that she won every debate and did a heluva job cleaning all the MALE Good old Boys CLOCK.As they dropped out one by one and only Obama remained,he had the dubias title of the 100% LOSER of every debate.Add to that, the fact she won the popular vote. She has performed like no other candidate in our nations history.Just let your imagination come forth and draw a line on the political stage.Place our Hillary on one side and on the other side, line up this group of shameful and biased traitors to our system of electing our presidents;MSM,DNC,RNC,OIL ,HEALTH,WALL STREET,BANKING,INSURANCE,AUTO MFRS,NO BID CONTRACTORS and of course BHO and his CULT holding up their RACE CARDS. Now tell me that she is not the ONE that this country needs in this very crucial time in our country and our lives. OBAMA is on vacation with his head in the Hawaiian sand and she stands alone and defiantly and beautifuly says

America we must not allow this NATIONAL TREASURE to be passed over for a ” WALKING EAGLE ”

  300. Obama also praised Edwards as a “great champion of working people.”
He talked a good game. But there was little in the way of results. Kind of like Barack.

  301. Debbie: I hate to say it but I really do think they will give her the vp position. Really.

Its the only way to come out of the convention united.

It the only way to bring back the white vote and erase the sexism of his campaign.

It is the only way to prevent the sexy cool hip dude from wrecking the country.

I hope it does not happen. I am scared shitless that it will.

  302. birdgal,

    that one’s the little leagues.

But i did see one of my more inspired comments over there.
‘Bitchell, the emaciated, anorexic, gaunt-faced, droopy hound-dog eyed hollow-cheeked dwarfish wife of Greenspan and nepotistic inheritor of plum correspondent roles throughout medialand.”

    AKA Andrea

  303. The comment i made above is how I would look at it if I were Lee Hamilton– a party elder with common sense.

To be clear, this is no guarantee that this will work but they will have to try something.

If I were Hamilton I would be worried about this guy especially if he becomes president. Really.

  304. confloyd

I have been watching the Olympics all day, so have not heard anything. When I what th elocal news this evening, I will let you know. Don’t think it can be anything important outside the state, but you never know.

  305. ‘Bitchell, the emaciated, anorexic, gaunt-faced, droopy hound-dog eyed hollow-cheeked dwarfish wife of Greenspan and nepotistic inheritor of plum correspondent roles throughout medialand.”
Basil: that was a marvelous description. It is so good that I am glad they saved it. I am impressed. Curtain calls are in order. Now I dont know about you but I am getting back to work.

  306. Another nugget, found in the archives:

“To know me is to love me,” said Obama when asked by the AP’s Nedra Pickler about how he will overcome Sen. Hillary Clinton’s, D-N.Y., advantage in national public-opinion polls.

“By the end of this campaign everybody before they vote will have a pretty good sense of where the various candidates stand on the issues and who they are, and what kind of people they are,” said Obama after picking up the endorsement of Washington Mayor Adrian Fenty. “And we feel confident that once people know my background as a community organizer, as a civil rights attorney, as somebody who taught constitutional law, as a state legislator, as well as a US Senator we will do well.”

  307. I second that Basil, it was quiet an impressive description. Isn’t Alan Greenspan quiet a bit older that she is??

  308. Obama running in violation of US election law
By Steve Miller Saturday, August 9, 2008

There is also the issue of whether Obama has dual citizenship
    with another country or two.

    yes, there is a God.

    No wonder fraudbama is negotiating.

    Obama is unqualified and unelectable.

  309. turndownobama,

it’s a hypthetical prediction. Needless to say that is the image that goes with the vp slot if she were to get it but…what if… bho implodes before november..she’d be in line for the top spot

the dems won’t let her run in ’12 if bho wins the prez.

this back and forth stuff with clinton/bho surely has to have something in it for her. she and bill could destroy him with little effort and the dnc and bho know it.

  310. Alan Greenspan,

    The sharpei-faced, slack-jawed, hairy-wristed, follically-challenged, Walter Mathau
wannabee, former fed-chief viagra-ingesting Bytchell spouse.

I think I’ll send that to the wonk.

    Confloyd, I believe she’s in her 60’s and he’s in his 80’s.

  311. debbie,

I think we’re going a disservice by talking about Hillary as VP as a good thing. We have only a couple of weeks to convince the DNC to go with Clinton/Obama. If they think they can satisfy us with Obama/Clinton, that will waste more time.

They try throwing us a bone, such as letting her make a speech — then it takes a while for them to understand that bone didn’t work and escalate to a new bone.

I hope we can skip the VP bone and go straight to the top. 🙂

  312. Basil9, Maybe that’s what’s wrong with Bitchell, ole’ Alan’s viagara isnt working anymore! 🙁

  313. Debbie, I agree with you the force is with Hill and Bill, let her be vp, he is going to have to step down before inauguration anyways. He is not constitutional able to run as president!

  314. turndownobama

I fully understand your position and I agree. After what the dnc and bho et all did in the primary I don’t trust them with anything.

I want Hillary as president as much as you do but the politics inside the dem party are really tough for her and any delegate that supports her. Why would bho have to negotiate with a 2 term president to speak at the convention. that should have been automatic. there is something there

I suspect if they ever fully staff the FEC (no thanks to dems) we might get the necessary investigations to throw bho out all together.

  315. Obama arrives for vacation: ‘Surf’s up?’

    By Mark Niesse

    9:48 p.m. August 8, 2008

HONOLULU – Barack Obama preached to the hometown choir Friday, rallying Hawaii supporters around alternative energy, preserving the world for the next generation and maintaining respect for the military.
Obama made it clear his visit to Honolulu was a vacation, not a campaign stop in a state that’s solidly in his pocket, but it began with a decidedly political rally in a state likely to give him one of his biggest majorities.

But he made sure his message struck a chord with the local crowd that turned out in record numbers to back him during the state’s February Democratic caucuses, about three-quarters of them for Obama.

He said the nation is suffering from high energy prices, particularly in Hawaii where gas prices are among the highest.

“Hawaii is paradise, but folks are having trouble in a paradise too,” Obama told reporters before meeting his backers at Keehi Lagoon Beach Park near the Honolulu airport where his plane landed at a private terminal.

Obama told the crowd his appearance with his wife Michelle was a thank you for their help, a sentiment reflected in the orchestration of the event: his speech from a small stage in a beach part sought to energize his fans without blasting them with large TVs or loud music.

From the rally, Obama, his wife and daughters, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, traveled in a motorcade for a long-awaited reunion with his grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, 85, who has osteoporosis that prevents her from taking long flights from Hawaii.

“She is as sharp as she’s every been,” he said of his grandmother who helped raise him. “Her body’s not in great shape. … She is somebody who helped raise me and she’s the last person of the generation ahead of me who’s still with us, so it means a lot.”

Obama took the elevator up to greet his grandmother in her modest high-rise apartment in a central Honolulu neighborhood.

He told reporters the main work he needs to get done while he’s here is to write his Democratic Convention speech. He brushed aside questions about his vice presidential pick, saying he wouldn’t talk about that until the announcement.

Obama said he planned to visit Oahu’s North Shore, eat a carb-rich Hawaii plate lunch and a Hawaii favorite refresher, flavored shave ice. He also said he’d definitely body surf at an “undisclosed location.”

One of his first comments off the campaign plane: “It’s windy out here. Surf’s up?”

His final word to a crowd at a nearby rally after a brief campaign speech: “I’ll see you on the beach.”

Prominent Hawaii Democrats U.S. Sen. Daniel Akaka, U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie and Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann warmed up the Obama supporters before he took the stage.

The candidate sought to define his broad theme of “change we can believe in” for a Hawaii audience.

The change he’ll bring means investing in solar, wind and biodiesel power and no longer depending on foreign oil, he said.

“I know that the folks here in Hawaii are especially hard-hit because everything has to come into Hawaii and gas prices have gone up the roof, fuel prices have gone through the roof, and it’s time that you got some real relief and that means actually starting to have an energy policy in this country that makes sense.”

Obama brought cheers from supporters repeating his call for an end to the war in Iraq.

“We’ve been divided for so long. We’ve been arguing for so long, a lot of times about things that aren’t even worth arguing about and ignoring the things that we should be doing to make the next generation have a better life,” he said, walking back and forth under a blazing afternoon sun in shirtsleeves.

He noted that Hawaii has a lot of military bases with many men and women who serve.

“They deserve our honor and respect, he said. “But they also deserve a civilian leadership that understands that the most important thing we can do to make ourselves safe is to fight the right wars, to finish the job in Afghanistan and start bringing this war in Iraq to a close, start bringing our troops out and, when they come home, to treat them with the dignity and respect they deserve – no more homeless vets, no more begging for disability payments.”

One stop Obama said he would make during his visit is the National Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl overlooking Honolulu. His grandfather, Stanley Dunham, a veteran, is buried there.

Obama told Hawaii supporters he expects the election to be close, although he’s expected to win by a big margin in the heavily Democratic islands.

“We’re going to fight every inch of the way because change is hard,” he said.

Besides Friday’s rally, Obama’s only other planned appearance during his vacation will be a private, $2,300-per-person fundraiser Tuesday.

  316. I was reading posts over at NoQuarter,

I just learned last night that our Hill got the nod last night. Pastor Manning will be discussing today what that means now. I repeat, Hill got the nod 2 days ago. That’s what is going on with the convention. What now?

Our Brilliant Hill got the nod to be VP.

I have no way to verify this information.
