Barack Obama Cannot Be Trusted

For over a year we have stated that Barack Obama is a flip-flop-flim-flam man.

Obama simply cannot be trusted. Obama cannot be trusted on any issue. Obama cannot be trusted by his friends. Obama cannot be trusted by his enemies. Obama cannot be trusted.

The Republicans know Barack Obama is a flip-flop-flim-flam man. The Hillary Clinton campaign was too kind and protective of Obama and did not state the obvious. The Republicans will state the obvious.

Obama is a flip-flop-flim-flam man who is not qualified to be president.

Barack Obama is not to be trusted but John McCain is, the Republicans will argue.

We abhor John McCain’s political viewpoints. But such is the disaster that Dean/Brazile/Pelosi have wrought by foisting an unqualified to be president flip-flop-flim-flam man on the Democratic grassroots that millions of good, true Democrats will vote for John McCain over a flip-flop-flim-flam Obama.

Obama/Dean/Brazile/Pelosi think Democrats are so stupid we will accept Barack Obama if he becomes the nominee. Obama/Dean/Brazile/Pelosi think we are so stupid we will be forced to accept Barack Obama as the nominee because we care so much about the issues facing the nation.

But we do not trust Obama on any issue, in any way. And — we want the Democratic Party back, not a cult Party for a flip-flop-flim-flam man.

Hillary is our nominee.

NObama. NOvember.

  1. Bambi’s egomania is so Bush-lite, it makes me want to throw up…
    ———————————————–

Bambi’s grandstanding plan is causing headache for German government.

Barack Obama’s Berlin visit sparks German diplomatic row

Berlin, a city torn apart by war, is the perfect setting for an American president preaching peace. Ronald Reagan famously stood metres away from the Brandenburg Gate and called on the Soviet Union to tear down the Wall dividing Europe. And President Kennedy used a Cold War visit to the once and future German capital to declare: “ich bin ein Berliner!”

Now Barack Obama, the presidential candidate, wants to grandstand there too. But a simmering row between the German Government and the local Berlin authorities could rob the Democratic politician of a photogenic moment at the Brandenburg Gate and derail his flagship tour of Europe this month.

It is just a matter of the appropriate backdrop. Negotiations are underway between the Obama advance team and the office of the Berlin Mayor, Klaus Wowereit, to hold the speech in front of the Brandenburg Gate, close to the line that traces the route of the Berlin Wall. The newly built US embassy nestles alongside. So too does a museum honouring John F. Kennedy. If, as expected, Mr Obama is going to deliver a phrase in German (the insider tip is: “I can listen!” — “ich kann zuhoeren!”) and fling out his arms in the direction of Russia and Central Europe, then this surely is the place.

But, say advisers to Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, it would be tantamount to giving the German stamp of approval to Mr Obama, an undue interference in the election campaign.

“The Brandenburg Gate is the best known and most historically significant site in Germany,” said a Chancellery official, explaining why until now only elected presidents have been allowed to perform there.

So the Government would dearly like Mr Obama to find another platform, perhaps the town hall in the district of Schoeneberg where Kennedy expressed his solidarity with West Berlin. Almost everywhere else in the capital has unfortunate historical associations; the Olympic Stadium (where Hitler was enraged by the success of the black athlete Jesse Owens in the 1936 Games) has, for example, been ruled out.

Technically the decision lies with the Berlin Mayor, a flamboyant, openly gay Social Democrat, who quite relishes the idea of irritating the conservative Chancellor. The toing and froing between the various seats of power in Berlin is thus likely to continue until the last minute.

The embarrassment in Berlin masks the fact that almost every corner of the German political establishment now, with varying degrees of openness, wants Obama to win. The press call it “Obamania”. The only reservations about Mr Obama are that he may be “too idealistic” — the Germans found it very difficult to deal with another Democratic idealist, Jimmy Carter — and that he may pay no more than lip service to the principles of free trade. But in most other respects he ticks every box in the checklist of Chancellor Merkel, who has already scheduled a meeting with the senator.

  2. I’d seen the second video before but the first is new for me.

    That last line is effective.

“Don’t hope for a better life. Vote for one.”

  3. Wow, if Obama is planning a trip to Europe, that is DOOMED from the start. Why on EARTH would a candidate go traipsing around Europe, when the knock on him is that he isn’t meat-and-potatoes enough (among a ton of other things) for rural, working class white voters> Are the voters of PA, WV, NC, SC, VA, OH, MI, WI etc. going to suddenly flock to Obama because he’s visiting Berlin? Good luck with that, Bambi…

  4. Once again, Bambi is desperate to channel JFK whenever possible. Yesterday we had the announcement that Bambi would deliver the acceptance address in Denver at an outdoor football stadium (copying JFK’s acceptance speech at the outdoor LA Coliseum), and today we learn he’s running off to Germany. Dude, why don’t you live in the 21st century and focus on today’s problems, instead of constantly massaging your own ego and trying to stage JFK-style “moments” at every turn? Sheesh…

  5. Newest group under the bus?

  6. uh-uh-eh-eh -s-some people are calling me a flip-flopper. b-b-but i-i-it’s obvious th-they h-h-haven’t been l-l-listening to me.

    WTF!!!!!

And he stuttered and stammered with such energetic arrogance!

  7. I grew up in this country, and I lived overseas for six years. Language was an option in my High School and College. When I arrived in France, I realized that my country had not emphasized languages, like the Europeans had. Why, I don’t know. I assumed it was because most of our country did not live in close proximity to borders like they do in Europe. Was I embarrassed, no, I just set about taking classes. After All, although our country people might not know their languages, we had sent our people to die over there, many of them buried there.

I guess you don’t have to know the language to liberate.

Yes, Americans might be language deficient, but they do know how to fight and die on foreign soil.

  8. Blue,

Taylor Marsh quotes Gail Sheehy’s August Vanity Fair article:
“Later that month Bill Clinton let it be known, through anonymous friends who talked to Time magazine and The New York Times, that “if she’s not going to be the nominee, then [Bill] wants her in the second spot.” ABC News’s chief Washington correspondent, George Stephanopoulos, reported that Bill believed his wife had “earned the offer of vice president.” ”

    Taylor’s comment:
Anonymous friends of Bill Clinton? Having covered Clinton for the last eighteen months, I learned long ago to not buy into any blind, anonymous, once removed, an adviser said, a close Clinton confidant told me, on condition on anonymity quotes that reveal anything at all revelatory, let alone something as important as “Bill believed his wife had ‘earned the offer of vice president.’” No matter the respect of the reporter writer the tale, most of this stuff turns out to be untrue.
That said, there is a huge amount of truth in the substance of that particular Bill quote, anonymous or not, because many Clinton supporters agree with it, so how could WJC not? After winning 17 million votes, finishing stronger than the nominee, with a voting base he doesn’t have, why wouldn’t Senator Obama seriously consider Hillary Clinton as his top choice as running mate?

Taylor had a good long entry about anonymous sources earlier in the campaign, too.

As for ‘truth in the substance,’ sure Hillary deserves to have the OFFER. But how is that to say that she WANTS to be VP, or that BILL wants her to?

Trouble is, that Hillary has said she would take it if necessary as a favor to the party, though she doesn’t want it. So too much public ‘push’ for this might result in Obama being forced to offer it and HIllary being forced to accept it — much to her detriment.

  9. kostner — I used to be appalled that Obama was Bush-lite but now the egomania is so out of control that Bush is Obama-lite.

McCain could do a very funny ad called “4 more years” about Obama.

  10. From NYTimes — Obama-bots ignore requests to donate to Clinton

    July 9, 2008
Obama Donors Aren’t Rushing to Aid Clinton
    By PATRICK HEALY

A prominent donor to Senator Barack Obama recently sent an e-mail plea to other supporters, asking them — for the sake of Democratic unity — to write checks to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton to help retire her $23 million in campaign debt.

Some of the replies are unprintable, given the coarse language, the donor said. A sampling of others included:

“Why would I help pay off debts that Hillary amassed simply to keep damaging Senator Obama?”

“Gas prices are up, the markets are in turmoil, my kid’s fall tuition bill is coming soon. Writing checks to politicians I don’t like is not at the top of my list.”

“Not a penny for that woman. Or her husband. Or — god forbid — Mark Penn,” a reference to Mrs. Clinton’s former senior strategist, whose firm is still owed several million dollars for work that included aggressive attacks on Mr. Obama.

As Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton prepare for their first joint fund-raisers to benefit the Obama campaign, in New York City on Wednesday and Thursday, their two camps are straining under the weight of continued resentments, recriminations and feelings that remain raw since the long primary battle.

Mr. Obama has asked his top donors to help raise money for her debt, and so far they have come up with less than $100,000 (though more in pledges), Clinton campaign officials said — a “paltry sum,” in the words of one.

Several Obama donors said in interviews that they were balking at Mr. Obama’s call for help because they believed Mrs. Clinton accumulated most of her debts after she had lost any mathematical chance of winning the nomination and was hanging on only in hopes of an Obama collapse. The idea of helping her now — and lining the pockets of Mr. Penn, a reviled figure in the Obama camp — is galling to them, they said, especially at a time when they say any available money should go to defeating Senator John McCain and the Republicans in November.

While no other presidential candidate has ever amassed so much personal and campaign debt en route to losing the nomination as has Mrs. Clinton, both Clinton and Obama donors say the larger problem for Democrats is that if the Obama camp is seen as unhelpful, Mrs. Clinton, her husband and their supporters could prove something less than a force for unity.

Among the complaints from Obama campaign officials is that Mrs. Clinton’s expectation for help has been a moving target; in other words, it is unclear how much money from Obama supporters will be enough to satisfy the Clintons. Even Clinton officials and donors were at a loss to specify a number, saying only that Mrs. Clinton was helping Mr. Obama with the understanding that he would do more for her.

“There is no lack of emotion among some supporters of both candidates, but what I think the sensible elements of good will are trying to achieve is debt relief for Hillary consistent with getting Barack elected president,” said Steven Rattner, a New York investment banker and leading fund-raiser for Mrs. Clinton, who is working with both camps to help Mrs. Clinton retire her debt.

The bitterness in the Clinton camp about the primary battle is well known, but several Clinton donors and campaign officials said a deeper issue remained unsettled: The belief — or, perhaps, the perception — that Mr. Obama and his aides are half-hearted in their efforts to help Mrs. Clinton and include her top donors on his leadership team.

Some of them griped that major Clinton donors were not being invited to crucial fund-raising meetings; were not being made to feel that they would receive credit for helping Mr. Obama win in November; and were not being given titles within the Obama campaign. An Obama aide said it was still early in the integration process of the two campaigns; he also added that the Obama operation was not as title-driven as the Clinton operation, which had various donors serving as “chairs,” “co-chairs” and “Hillraisers.”

Clinton donors and campaign officials say they remain surprised — and, among some, offended — that Mr. Obama has refused to ask his entire list of donors, more than 1.5 million people, to send $5, $10 or more to chip away at Mrs. Clinton’s debt. (Obama officials said they did not want to distract their donors for the main task at hand, raising money to defeat Mr. McCain.)

“The Obama effort hasn’t yielded much, but we hope it will increase,” said Alan Patricof, a top Clinton fund-raiser and family friend.

“I think most people — I can’t say everyone — thinks that helping Barack is the best way to get help from the Obama camp to help retire her debt, which is a major source of concern for her right now,” Mr. Patricof added.

Mrs. Clinton owes an estimated $12 million to consultants and vendors, like Mr. Penn; she also lent her campaign more than $11 million. That $11 million is listed as a debt, though Mrs. Clinton has told her fund-raisers that she does not expect them or the Obama camp to repay her.

Clinton campaign officials estimated that the millions owed to Mr. Penn and his team was by far the largest part of Mrs. Clinton’s debt, though they emphasized that the money was not only going for Mr. Penn’s time but also for the services provided by his colleagues and his polling and strategy firm. Clinton officials said they could not provide a breakdown of those amounts.

“We’re focused on the vendor debts, especially the Kinkos, the truck drivers and the small-business folks who helped us along the way,” said Jonathan Mantz, the Clinton campaign’s finance director.

Orin Kramer, a leading Obama fund-raiser, said he was working with other members of Mr. Obama’s national finance team, like Frank Brosens and Alan Solomont, as well as Mr. Rattner, Mr. Patricof and other Clinton donors to deal with the debt issue.

The negotiations between the Clinton and Obama camps are so delicate that it is one of the issues being managed by Robert Barnett, the high-powered Washington lawyer that Mrs. Clinton asked to help structure a political relationship between them for the general election.

According to several Democrats who have spoken to Mr. Barnett, he has counseled the Clinton camp that honey will work better than vinegar in the debt talks. But Clinton donors say it is an open question whether the Clintons believe they should play hardball — signaling that they will not rally enthusiastically behind Mr. Obama unless he does more on the debt situation — or appear agreeable with the expectation that the money will ultimately come through.

A crucial test will come at the fund-raisers in New York this week, both sides said. Mr. Obama is expected to ask supporters there to help Mrs. Clinton, and Clinton donors said they were hoping for a great deal more money to come in from people heeding his call.

The New York events are on behalf of the Obama campaign, his aides said; Mrs. Clinton will not receive a cut of the take, but rather, in theory, benefit afterward from Obama donors who decide to help her. Mr. Obama and his wife have each already written checks for $2,300, the maximum donation, to Mrs. Clinton.

“Senator Obama and his staff and his supporters are working very hard on debt relief for Senator Clinton, and will continue to in any way that works best,” said Bill Burton, a spokesman for the Obama campaign.

  11. I long argued the similarity between bambi and Adolf Hitler… Remember, Hitler was ELECTED!! Don’t believe for one second a so-called democratic system can prevent such devil. Per no quarter.

The Adulation of a Leader: a Cautionary Tale

Barack Obama broke with tradition when he moved the Democratic National Committee from DC to Chicago. For many of us, this move emphasized the merger of the Obama campaign with the Democratic Party. And to many of us, that merger made clear that the Democratic Party no longer belongs to the people, it belongs to Barack Obama. The move to Chicago is also significant because Chicago is the home to Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers, Tony Rezko as well as the crooked Chicago Combine. Barack Obama has alliances with these and other corrupt and unsavory characters and no doubt he continues to benefit from those alliances.

There is discussion that by moving the Democratic National headquarters to Chicago, he is not only increasing revenue for these characters, he is setting up Chicago as a site for the Olympics. Knowing Obama’s associations in the Windy City suggests that this move is not altruistic.

Now we are hearing that Obama will once again break with tradition during the Democratic National Convention to give his acceptance speech at a huge rally in the stadium of the Denver Broncos, known as Invesco Field. (See NewHampster’s post for some financial information on Invesco.)

  12. some financial information on Invesco.)

The New York Times describes it this way:

The Democratic National Convention Committee and the Obama campaign announced on Monday that they would break with tradition and move the final day of convention activities, including the acceptance speech, from the Pepsi Center in Denver to Invesco Field… which can hold more than 75,000. A sea of 75,000 people swarmed around Senator Barack Obama at a rally in Portland, Ore. in May ..and Mr. Obama is planning a repeat performance at the Democratic National Convention in August..

Wanting an auspicious event, Obama will deliver his speech on August 28th, the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” speech. And if that is not propitious enough, Obama’s campaign is broadcasting that the last person to give such a speech to such a large crowd was in 1960, when John F. Kennedy addressed a similarly sized audience at Memorial Stadium in Los Angeles. Not everyone is convinced that bigger is better. Matt Burns of the RNC stated:

Not surprisingly, Senator Obama and his fellow Democrats are more focused on stagecraft and theatrics than providing real solutions to the challenges facing our nation.

Nor does everyone see the double omens of King and Kennedy as a positive reflection of Obama. Conservative commentator, Michael Barone said:

No one has done it since Kennedy because no one thought he could fill a stadium since Kennedy. Evidently Obama feels he can and feels he can stop it raining too.

Of course Howard Dean is excited about the decision. Dean said of moving the speech:

This is very much in keeping with Senator Obama’s philosophy and, I might add, my philosophy as well. I think it’s very fitting, especially the way Sen. Obama got here with his enourmous grassroots operation.

One thing we can be sure is part of Dean’s “philosophy” is that the Obama campaign has turned the change of venue into a fund raising event, something absolutely necessary for the impoverished Democratic Party. As the Washington Post put it:

And how did the campaign break the news to supporters? How else? Through an Internet fund-raising appeal.”I wanted you to be the first to hear the news,” campaign manager David Plouffe wrote in an e-mail to Obama’s millions of contributors. “…Barack has made it clear that this is your convention, not his.”

Prior to the August convention, during his trip to Europe this month Obama’s campaign wants him to give a speech at the Brandenburg Gates in Berlin. By doing so, Obama will accomplish an ancestral hat trick and evoke Ronald Reagan who addressed West Berliners there in 1987.

I understand that for Barack Obama, attempting to emulate powerful and famous people is essential. Obama himself has no record of achievement. He is now known as Backtrack Obama for all his flip flopping, and no doubt he feels he must persuade people by imitating his successful forebears.

But it’s creepy that he’s using the propaganda strategy of rallying huge crowds to hear him, while calling it an event for the people. It’s creepy because this tactic of using an energized mob has been utilized by tyrants throughout history. One doesn’t have to go back to ancient Greece, where the word tyrant comes from, to understand my use of the term as it is defined in Wikipedia:

In ancient Greece, tyrants were influential opportunists that came to power by securing the support of different factions. The word “tyrant” then carried no ethical censure; it simply referred to anyone who illegally seized executive power to engage in autocratic, though perhaps benevolent, government, or leadership. Support for the tyrants came from the growing class of business people and from the peasants who had no land or were in debt to the wealthy land owners.

As Heidi Li Feldman of The Denver Group said in her interview with Bud White for NQ, “you can’t legitimize something that is not legitimate.”In fact, at his request, Leni Riefenstahl made an amazing documentary about the rise of Adolph Hitler. The film, Triumph of the Will, is a beautiful and moving account of the early days of the Third Reich, of a time when Hitler brought hope and promise to a suffering nation. It is a haunting reminder that the faith and enthusiasm of German people gave rise to arguably the most horrendous deeds in the modern world . But the film itself portrays ordinary people coming together because they heard the charismatic and powerful rhetoric of a leader who promised to improve the lives of all German people. Here is the description from Wikipedia:

The primary aspect of the Nuremberg Rallies was to strengthen the personality cult of Adolf Hitler, portraying Hitler as Germany’s saviour, chosen by providence. The gathered masses listened to the Führer’s speeches, swore loyalty…the rallies served to demonstrate the might of the German people. The visitors of the rallies by their own free will were subordinate to the discipline and order in which they should be reborn as a new people.

I’m not suggesting that Barack Obama is Adolph Hitler. I am suggesting a cautionary tale of tyranny from recent history that has many eerie similarities

  13. The percentage of voters who give Congress good or excellent ratings has fallen to single digits for the first time in Rasmussen Reports tracking history. This month, just 9% say Congress is doing a good or excellent job. Most voters (52%) say Congress is doing a poor job, which ties the record high in that dubious category.

Last month, 11% of voters gave the legislature good or excellent ratings. Congress has not received higher than a 15% approval rating since the beginning of 2008.

The percentage of Democrats who give Congress positive ratings fell from 17% last month to 13% this month. The number of Democrats who give Congress a poor rating remained unchanged. Among Republicans, 8% give Congress good or excellent ratings, up just a point from last month. Sixty-five percent (65%) of GOP voters say Congress is doing a poor job, down a single point from last month.

Voters not affiliated with either party are the most critical of Congressional performance. Just 3% of those voters give Congress positive ratings, down from 6% last month. Sixty-three percent (63%) believe Congress is doing a poor job, up from 57% last month.

Just 12% of voters think Congress has passed any legislation to improve life in this country over the past six months. That number has ranged from 11% to 13% throughout 2008. The majority of voters (62%) say Congress has not passed any legislation to improve life in America.

  14. Yet another high-profile Dem tells Bambi “hell no” re: a spot on the ticket:

    ——–
Webb Withdraws as Possible Vice President Pick for Obama

    By Amy Gardner
    Washington Post Staff Writer
    Tuesday, July 8, 2008; B05

U.S. Sen. James Webb (D-Va.) announced yesterday that he will not seek a place on the Democratic ticket next to Sen. Barack Obama, ending months of speculation that he was a front-runner for the vice presidential nomination.

Webb told Obama (D-Ill.) last week that “under no circumstances” would he consider the vice presidency, according to a statement issued yesterday. Webb said he will campaign for Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president.

Webb said he does not want to slow his momentum in the Senate, where he has served for 18 months and racked up a string of successes, including the recent passage of a landmark new GI bill.

“I entered elective politics because of my commitment to strengthen America’s national security posture, to promote economic fairness and to increase government accountability,” Webb said. “I have worked hard to deliver upon that commitment, and I am convinced that my efforts and talents toward those ends are best served in the Senate.”

Webb’s ascension in the Senate since his upset victory over Republican George F. Allen in 2006 has given him a national profile on political talk shows and in news magazines and made him a regular mention in discussions about Obama’s possible pick for the vice presidency.

A former Navy secretary under President Ronald Reagan, a military veteran and a writer who has explored his Scots-Irish heritage in Appalachia, Webb, 62, is widely viewed as a politician who could appeal to veterans, the rural working class and swing voters.

For that reason, his withdrawal yesterday came as a surprise and disappointment to some of his friends.

“He would have been a terrific complement to Barack Obama,” said U.S. Rep. James P. Moran Jr. (D-Va.). “He understands and cares so much about the working class of America. He just wrote a terrific book for fairness and justice. He had just gotten the GI bill enacted. He’s a patriot, and he had an excellent article on the front cover of Parade magazine. He has a substantial amount of support and recognition throughout the country.”

Even Republicans saw Webb as a potentially formidable presence on a national ticket.

  15. I do agree with the Obamabots about one thing: I can’t stand Mark Penn, either.

BTW, who will Waffles pick as VP? The best candidates (except for HRC, of course) have said no. Very interesting …

  16. turndownobama-com,

    Kinda goes back to what you said, with which I readily agreed;

What Do You Believe? Who Do You Believe?

Taylor Marsh, who had done outstanding work during the primaries, is hardly in the good graces of die-hard Hillary supporters.

The whole episode left me with what I tried to point out was a possible explanation for the seeming evidence & testimonials, both first hand (Hillary’s, on video, to which you referred) and otherwise, from Bob Johnson & Lanny Davis, who openly advocated for the VP spot.

The likeliest scenario was Bill & Hill want to keep all options open.

  17. I think its great that Webb told *61 “no” t the VP. He is of course a strong candidiate and has ties to the middle, rual class,(i.e. white, bible belt, clinging, gun toting Dems).
    Thanks Senator Webb

  18. This is crazy!
Edwards would ‘seriously consider’ VP offer!
John Edwards said Tuesday that if he were asked to accept the vice presidential slot or a cabinet position in a potential Barack Obama administration, he would “seriously consider” whatever the Illinois senator asked him to do.

It has been widely reported that the former North Carolina senator is on Obama’s vice presidential shortlist. On Tuesday, NPR interviewer Guy Raz called the former Democratic presidential candidate’s presence on the list an “open secret,” and asked Edwards whether he’d weigh accepting a vice presidential offer, or might take himself out of consideration as Virginia Senator Jim Webb had done Monday.

“I’m glad to hear that’s an open secret because I didn’t know it,” joked Edwards of his rumored consideration as Obama’s running mate

Run John, run! Can bambi have two VPs, John Kerry & John Edwards. Gosh, we do need some humor.

How do I say, “elitist” in French?

Some European friends I met at a retreat center in Rosco, New York, told me they are close to other countries and need it, which also makes it easy to learn languages.

BHO lied about learning Indonesian. Claiming he was articulate in 6 months. But in interviews with teachers and students we learn it was a lie. The boys laughed at him as they picked on him, because the only invective he knew in that language was “cheater”–very apropo.

know that Obama is wearing thin on people as I’ve been hearing
those I know well who were avid Obama supporters now really
questioning their decision and expressing an uneasiness with
    this guy!

One just mentioned it out of the blue yesterday and it took be by surprise,
it excited me greatly but, I tried not to show it!

Kool-aid wears off more and more with every passing day!

Hillary waiting in the wings to take her rightful place
as the official nominee in Denver!

  23. Ginnyxxx:

I know that when this whole thing started out, I was not a Hillary fan at all. I told myself I would hold my nose and vote her if she became the nominee. After watching her on the campaign trail and in the debates, she really grew on me and I think she would be one of the best and most prepared Presidents in the history of the US. I agree with Chelsea that her mom would probably be even better than Bill was.

Also, in January, I would have been OK with ANY of the candidates. As time went on, Obama started smelling like old cheese to me, and Richardson dropped off my list too.

The reason I changed my mind about Obama:

    1. He never said anything specific in his speeches. I was always told to go to his website to see his “plans”.

    2. He was more of a motivational speaker than someone talking issues.

    3. As good of an orator as he is with a prepared stump speech, he is absolutely AWFUL when he goes off script. The longer I saw Hillary and Barack side by side, the more evident it became this guy had a problem thinking quickly on his feet. This does not bode well for someone who is going to have such power at his fingertips.

    4. His associations: Rev. Wright is at the top of the list, Rezko, etc.

    5. After doing research on the internet and learning how he got elected to the Illinois legislature (using technicalities to bump opposition out of the race so he ran unopposed and won) and then his US Senate campaign was against very weak competition, it was apparent that Hillary was the first candidate of substance he went up against and he had a huge problem with her.

    6. His “periodically when she is feeling a little down” “her claws come out” “she launches attacks” “You’re likeable enough” “I can get her voters but she won’t be able to get mine…” pick your favorite Hillary slam.

    7. False claims that he was running a “positive” campaign. It was anything BUTT that.

    8. False claims about his grassroots fundraising.

    9. Many of things he wrote in his books about race.

    10. Allowing his surrogates to play the race card and painting the Clintons as racist (behind the scenes)

    11. His quickness to claim that people who don’t support him are bitter and have antipathy towards those who are not like him especially when he is a black 48 year-old inexperienced guy with a funny name.

    12. His woefully thin resume.

I could go on and on, but I went from being willing to vote for him if he is the nominee to believing I can’t get a clothespin big enough or strong enough to put on my nose to keep the stench out if I vote for him. Of Hillary, people have posted in blogs that they are ready for a woman President, just not this woman. Well, I am willing to vote for a black person, but not for His Worshipfulness.

  24. Prob***:
Ginny, this is how it was for me too. I was really really annoyed with her when she voted for the Iraq War, partly because I was against the war, but also partly because I honestly think she was against it at heart but was unwilling to speak up for what she truly believed. The second part was always what frustrated me most about her. But when she started campaigning for the WH, she began to speak a lot more from her heart, about where she’s coming from in her positions, and I was so impressed by the way she handled herself, her poise, her stamina, her unbelievable amount of knowledge on issues. I just think that this is one incredible human being–man or woman–and will be an incredible asset to our country if this person is our president. Her not winning the White House is really our loss.

As far as the electoral map goes, she really could’ve pulled in some independents and I do believe a significant number of Republican women. I have Republican women friends who would never ever vote Democrat who totally surprise me by telling me that if Hillary runs then they will vote Democrat. I can’t say that I fully understand her appeal to Republican women, but I’ve seen enough anecdotal evidence to believe that they identify with her on some fundamental level.

And wow you really did your research on his Worshipfulness. Suffice it to say that I have found the same information that you did, and you actually did more research on him than I. Anyway, this is why I get kind of annoyed when his supporters resorts to saying that those of us who don’t like him are just “bitter”, or more offensively “racists”. Yes there’s a lot of hard feelings, but beyond that there are many of us who have read up on all the information–facts and opinions–about him and just concluded that we haven’t found enough merits to support him.

  25. MK***:

Her voting for the Iraq War was part of what endeared me to her–spoken like a true hair-brained conservative. I think she was following her heart at the time, but the War has turned into a life and money-wasting disaster. Actually I always liked the Clintons, and in fact voted for Bill in 1992 and 1996. They’ve been fairly moderate which I appreciate, and they have style with substance (His Worshipfullness should take some lessons from them).

  26. Dem Platform to Include Two Registered Lobbyists
    By Jonathan Allen, CQ Staff

Lobbyists will be involved in writing the Democratic platform under Barack Obama , who has campaigned against special interest influence in Washington and bashed his rivals for accepting contributions from paid lobbyists.

Two members of the Democratic Party’s platform drafting committee, Thea Lee of the AFL-CIO and Donna Harris-Aiken of the National Education Association, are registered lobbyists. The panelists, who will submit their plan to the party’s full platform committee for ratification next month, were announced Tuesday in a joint release from the Democratic National Committee and the Obama campaign.

The principal author of the platform draft is Karen Kornbluh, an aide in Obama’s Senate office who is married to telecommunications lobbyist Jim Halpert. Halpert has lobbied for Time Warner, Amazon, Comcast, eBay, Experian and two electronic commerce consortia in recent years, according to records filed with the House of Representatives.

Obama has made reform of Washington, particularly limiting the influence of lobbyists on the policy process, a central theme of his campaign.

“I intend to tell the corporate lobbyists that their days of setting the agenda in Washington are over, that they had not funded my campaigns, and from my first day as president, I will launch the most sweeping ethics reform in U.S. history,” Obama told New Hampshire Public Radio late last year.

The Obama campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

Obama does not accept contributions from political action committees or from registered federal lobbyists but he does collect money from the corporate executives who employe the lobbyists and he does allow lobbyists to bundle contributions to him, a practice that experts say can magnify their influence.

He has made an art form of blistering rivals for accepting donations from lobbyists — first Democratic primary opponent Hillary Rodham Clinton and now presumed Republican nominee John McCain .

“ John McCain ’s campaign and the Republican National Committee are fueled by contributions from Washington lobbyists and special interest PACs,” Obama said recently. The independent, non-partisan Factcheck.org found that less than two percent of the money collected by McCain — and an even smaller share gathered by the RNC — came from lobbyists and PACs.

Obama cited those donations as a reason for rejecting public financing for his campaign after having indicated that he would accept public funds and forgo private money for the general election. Factcheck.org called his reasoning “a lame excuse” because of the small share of McCain’s funds that come from those sources.

Obama and his aides have sometimes sought to draw a distinction between those who lobby for corporations and those who lobby for non-corporate interests such as the unions that Harris-Aiken and Lee represent. But at other times, the Obama camp has declined to distinguish between corporate and non-corporate lobbyists.

The inclusion of lobbyists and the spouse of a lobbyist on the platform drafting committee underscores the difficulty of finding qualified policy professionals who have no ties to organizations that seek to influence government actions.

Last month, the Obama campaign accepted the resignation of the original head of its vice presidential selection committee, Jim Johnson, after it was revealed that Johnson, a former chief of secondary home-mortgage giant Fannie Mae, had been the beneficiary of a low-interest loan from Countrywide.

Dem Platform to Include Two Registered Lobbyists
Several members of Obama’s inner circle are former lobbyists, including vice presidential selection committee member Eric Holder, a former Justice Department official who later lobbied for Global Crossing.

Another member of the drafting committee, Ron His Horse is Thunder, is chairman of Chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe of North Dakota, which has hired lobbyists to obtain earmarks and pursue other legislative goals.

The Democratic Party and Obama campaign are encouraging voters to organize platform meetings and report results to the drafting committee, which will hold a hearing Aug. 1 in Cleveland and finalize its work Aug. 3. That draft will be presented to the full platform committee Aug. 9 in Pittsburgh.

The drafting committe will be headed by Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano , Michael Yaki, a former aide to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi , D-Calif., and Kornbluh.

  27. U.S. Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart wants you to know: It wasn’t Democrat Barack Obama who was backing the comprehensive immigration reform bill that tanked last year, it was Republican Sen. John McCain.

“I as a House member was intimately involved in many of the meetings where Sen. McCain was leading the effort to get comprehensive reform passed,” Diaz-Balart, R-Miami, said in a conference call organized by the McCain campaign. “And Sen. Obama was consistently and absolutely AWOL, nowhere to be seen, in any of the meetings that we had on this issue of immigration.

“It is absurd for him now to take credit for that legislation… He was absolutely a non-player.”

McCain, of course has been trying to reverse the damage done to himself among many conservative voters by pushing that immigration bill, which called for securing the borders but also sought a route to legal status for millions of illegal immigrants.

But that bill is a big reason why McCain, not Obama, will do better among Hispanics come November, Diaz-Balart said.

McCain and Obama both spoke to the League of United Latin American Citizens in Washington Tuesday, and both addressed the need for immigration reform. Obama said he “reached across the aisle in the Senate” to fight for it.

Diaz-Balart, who is facing a tough reelection contest from former Hialeah Mayor Raul Martinez, said Obama will also suffer for his opposition to the Columbia free trade agreement.

  28. 1950Democrat: I have theory about what really happened here. See if you agree.

    1. The DNC guided by the Dean Plan needed to pick the nominee eight (8) months before the general election, i.e. by early March, in order to properly coodinate implemenation efforts.

    2. By then Bambi had racked up 12 caucus state victories, thanks to the incompetence of Mark Penn and other factors. At that point it was reasonable to assume that he would win enough pledged delegates to win the nominaton.

    3. Therefore, the three stooges at the DNC met with the Kennedy cabal and others and agreed to put their weight behind him. But they did not tell the Clintons for fear of reprisal. Instead they let Hillary go on campaigning. In addition they let her continue soliciting funds on the innocent assumption that votes would matter.

    4. They quietly informed the heads of the Big Media outlets that Bambi would be the nominee. Orders went down through those organizations to promote Bambi for other reasons. Again this was in furtherance of the Dean Plan. And of course they told Bambi and a symbiotic relationship was formed to promote him and coordinate their attack on Hillary.

    5. Then the Reverend Wright story broke and Bambi began to sink. Hillary staged a comeback in Texas and Ohio. The race became competitive once more. Suddenly, the three stooges were in a quandry. They had secretly coronated Bambi but the voters were beginning to reject him along demographic lines.

    6. Hillary went to Pennsylvania and vigorously campaigned with Governor Rendell. Rendell, former head of the DNC, promoted Hillary and differentiated Bambi. Whereupon Bambi panicked and phoned Rendell. He told Rendell go easy on me because I will be the nominee. Rendell was surprised and reported this on Larry King Live.

    7. Then Bambi uttered his famous bitters comment. Thereafter, Hillary won Pennsylvania by a wide margin. Dodd, Kerry, Leahe and Richardson all called for Hillary to exit the race. Big Media echoed the same refrain. They claimed it was for party unity but the real purpose was to prevent the voters from undermining their clandestine decision.

    8. Hillary rejected those pleas and vowed to fight on so that ever voter would have a say. She also vowed to fight to ensure that the votes cast by Florida and Michigan were given full faith and credit. The three stooges were now in full panic mode. They thwarted efforts for a revote in concert with Bambi.

    9. They also realized that there was no way Bambi could achieve the required number of pledged delegates to secure the nomination. Therefore, they changed their position on superdelegates, announced they were not bound by the will of their constituents and proceeded to pay them money or theaten them to support Bambi. Ed Koch warned about the former.

    10. When Hillary went to Indiana she Bambi claimed he would win the state. A poll taken a week before backed him up. Then a day before big media posted a poll that showed her winning big, and when she won narrowly they treated it like a loss. And when she lost North Carolina by a much lower margin than predicted Big Media declared Bambi the nominee.

    11. Hillary went on to win West Virginia by a blowout margin and Big Media dismissed it as racism and impugned he voters. She won Puerto Rico by a blow out margin and they dismissed it as a beauty contest. They continued to play the race card against her for the balance of the campaign. She was winning the popular vote and Bambi was really tanking.

    12. Next came the Rules and Bylaws Committee. The DNC instructed the committee to striip delegates earned by Clinton in Michigan and award them to Bambi. The night before the hearing members knew about this and were overheard laughing about how the Hillary supporters would look standing out in the rain when the bad news came down. (Note: they never anticipated Harriet Christian however)

    12. Hillary went to South Dakota which she was not expected to win. All the party elites had supported Bambi. The press took an innocent comment she made against RFK and turned it into a death wish. They cast her not as the tenacious and determined heroine which she was but as a deranged villain in Fatal Attraction. And when the day of the vote came they published a false story that she would resign that evening in an effort to suppress voter turnout and deny her the popular vote. It did not work.

    13. The DNC used phony math to give him the victory. Neither candidate had enough pledged delegates to win the nomination. The superdelegates could not vote until the convention. Yet they stampeded the superdelegates to support him and added their unoffical votes to the official votes of the pledged delegates to declare him the winner.

    13. At the conclusion of the process she won the popular vote, the electroral map, the key congressional districts, the debates and the momentum. She appealed to the superdelegates to abide by their mandate to select the her because she was the most likely to win the general election. But they had been bought off.

    14. Then the powers that be insisted she end her camapign immediately. According to Wrangel there were threats to run candidates agiinst her supprters. What threats were made against her personally I do not know. What I do know is that forcing her to terminate her campaign and endorse her opponent was anti-democratic and without precedent.

    15. Summary and Implications: i) the Democratic Party is no longer the party of the people, ii) the DNC has thrown its traditional base under the bus, iii) the DNC has subsituted its judgment for that of the voters, iii) the DNC erred by declaring the winner prematurely, iv) the DNC erred when it allowed one hundred million dollars of campaign dollars to be solicited on the assumption that this was a competitive race when in fact it was not and v) the superdelegates in Denver will have one final opportunity to cure this problem. If they shrink from doing so there will be no living with it.

  29. His hollyness is now becoming Lincoln. Geez. Can we stop these clowns.

The Recurring Image of Obama As Abraham Lincoln

Speaking in Berlin and echoing Kennedy and Reagan is just the beginning, apparently. Street art in Boston:

    .

The owners of a small South End gallery say they had the best of intentions when they commissioned a famous and often mischievous street artist to install a massive political mural on a construction wall lining one of the artiest strips of the South End.

The mural, 13 feet high and nearly a block long, features multiple composite portraits of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and Abraham Lincoln, their faces melded together in a rainbow of colors. It is meant, the gallery said, to inspire dialogue.

That it did. The morning after artist Ron English and his band of volunteers finished the mural, “Abraham Obama,” it stirred a tempest in this insular arts community, though it had nothing to do with Lincoln, Obama or English himself.

Rather, residents, business owners, and even fellow gallery owners expressed frustration, angst, and anger over the way some English enthusiasts descended upon the city, plastering windows, telephone polls, and other surfaces with miniature posters meant to advertise the massive exhibit.

By yesterday, the sponsors of the exhibit, Gallery XIV, got a call from Boston police, apparently prompted by a complaint by the nearby Boston Center for the Arts, where two unauthorized posters were plastered.

“My best alibi and the truth is that I had no idea what we were getting into,” said Will Kerr, director of exhibition sponsor Gallery XIV. “We were just interested in the installation on Thayer Street, which is an incredible work of art. I’m really trying to be a good neighbor and do damage control.”

Kerr said the gallery made sure the exhibition was installed legally last week with permission from the building owner, but gallery owners apparently underestimated the fervor of the artist’s fans. The mural is the feature piece of a street art exhibition called “a politic,” scheduled to run through Oct. 4. They marketed it as “a legal billboard,” by an artist more popular for illegal billboards in cities from New York to Amsterdam.

English’s presence drew interest from some of his fans accustomed to the mischievous nature of his street art. They heard about the planned Boston installation through blogs.

English made a name for himself by co-opting corporate billboards in New York City and pasting over them with his own billboards that lampooned corporate excess, war, and other hot-button topics. His website, popaganda.com, displays a gallery of illegal billboards he has erected.

“We had people in their early 20s who drove to Boston overnight from Maine and Vermont,” said Kerr. “After the installation was done, Ron English got into signing posters, and they gave away posters to everyone at the party.”

English’s fans were apparently so enamored of his work Wednesday night that they snapped up autographed prints of the image and pasted them, illegally, on several buildings in the South End

  30. I was NOT surprise that Hillary voted for the authorization for the Iraq war because she is the Jr. SENATOR from NEW YORK and this has been the 3rd time that NY had a major terrorist act with 911 being the worst.

When you are dealing with something so terrible you have to have faith that your President and Commander in Chief is not lying to you and their word means something.

GWB/Cheney hurt their credibility worldwide and it will not be forgotten for a long time.

The WEAK DEMOCRATIC? LEADERSHIP took all the negativity from GWB and now we have King Obama…Pathetic.

She trusted Powell to keep Bush Jr under control. See David BRooks “No Apology Necessary” in NYT.

  32. Trouble is, that Hillary has said she would take it if necessary as a favor to the party, though she doesn’t want it. So too much public ‘push’ for this might result in Obama being forced to offer it and HIllary being forced to accept it — much to her detriment.

Unrequited love is fine for blues songs, but it does not play well in politics. Read my posting at 1:53 and then tell me what Hillary owes the party at this point. The supporters who are pushing this need to take a hard look about who she would be working for, his tendency to throw people under the bus and no remedy for breach.

  35. Obama plans unprecedented campaign staff numbers in Missouri
    By STEVE KRASKE
    The Kansas City Star

How much would Barack Obama love to win Missouri?

    Let us count the staffers… 148, 149, yes, 150 …

The Democrat’s campaign said Tuesday it is tripling its paid staff — to an unprecedented 150 workers, who will fan out from 30 field offices across the state, from West Plains to Maryville.

“It’s unheard of,” veteran Democratic worker Woody Overton of Kansas City said of the effort and expenditure.

    “It’s unbelievable.”

“Desperate” is the adjective John McCain’s camp uses.

“When you feel like you have to put that many people in the state to cover it, means you think you’re in trouble and you have to have a surge,” said Jack Jackson, McCain’s Missouri co-chairman.

Recent polls indicate the race in Missouri is close.

McCain’s operation expects to have 12 to 14 full-time workers and 10 offices. The Arizona Republican now has four people on the ground.

The Obama camp said it already has 50.

The Illinois senator’s deep pockets, resulting from millions of small contributors, gives him the chance to organize in ways and places that no Democrat has before, experts say.

Sen. John Kerry’s 2004 Missouri campaign had around 15 offices and 80 full-time workers, who ultimately were dispatched to other states deemed more competitive weeks before Election Day. President Bush had 50 staffers and about the same number of offices as Kerry.

Missouri, a key swing state for a half-century, is part of a strategy in which Obama wants to win all of the states Kerry did, such as Michigan and Pennsylvania, plus bring back some Bush states, such as Missouri and Iowa, into the Democratic fold.

Obama’s recent advertising campaign included Missouri with 10 other swing states important to Obama’s Electoral College map, plus seven others reliably Republican in the past, such as Georgia and North Carolina. Refusing the limits of public financing has freed Obama to expand into Southern states where he is polling close and forcing Republicans to spend resources.

“I think we’ve got a good shot at winning and I want to be greedy,” Obama said last week. “I want to win as many states as possible.”

Pointing to his weaker poll numbers in former Democratic states, such as Michigan, New Jersey and New Hampshire, Republicans argue that Obama’s efforts are hollow.

Neither campaign has begun to organize in Kansas, won by Obama Feb. 5, but which has long backed GOP candidates.

Building grassroots, neighbor-to-neighbor networks can be the most powerful means of advertising, easily surpassing those ubiquitous 30-second TV ads, Obama’s aides say.

“That’s the best message we’re ever going to get,” said Buffy Wicks, Obama’s lead Missouri operative.

“At the end of the day, Missouri will be won or loss in the margins,” Wicks said. “Field is what gets you over the top. It’s these person-to-person contacts that really give you an edge.”

Wicks spent 17 months overseeing Obama operations in 14 Western states and serving as California field director in charge of making fast use of the thousands of volunteers who turned out.

The drawn-out primary struggle with Hillary Clinton is now paying a major dividend, said Missouri’s Sen. Claire McCaskill, an Obama confidante — legions of now-experienced hands.

“Never before have we had a presidential nominee who’s organized and competed in nearly all 50 states prior to the general election,” she said.

Another potential dividend: Obama plans to keep the campaign infrastructure intact after the election to boost the future prospects of Democrats.

How much stems from Obama’s own past in grass-roots urban organizing?

“One of my fundamental beliefs from my days as a community organizer is that real change comes from the bottom up,” Obama has said.

Today his camp has Facebook and MySpace networking sites. “There’s no more powerful tool for grass-roots organizing than the Internet,” he said.

“This is like back to the future,” McCaskill said. “This is like going back to the kinds of campaigns run a long time ago — neighbor to neighbor, only with high-tech help.”

Wicks said the fall strategy under way in Missouri was born in post-primary meetings that brought together the best of Obama’s organizers, focusing on what worked and what didn’t.

The dozens of field workers already in Missouri have held more than 130 house parties, registering voters and identifying supporters.

“You can have all the paid people in the world trying to sell a product, but if that product is not what people are looking for, they won’t buy it,” said Lloyd Smith, a longtime GOP campaign strategist in the state.

University of Iowa political scientist Tim Hagle also likened voters to consumers in making decisions — often by word of mouth.

“If your neighbor across the street has an Obama sign, you’re more likely to trust that person than someone calling you from an automatic phone bank, a person you don’t know or where they’re from,” he said.

  36. I have been invited to contribute $2300 to the Presidential Campaign of Bambi and to have my picture taken with the First Lady of Hate (RSVP).

So I gave them a pithy response in the name of party unity as follows:

“GO TO HELL! TAKE MY NAME OFF YOUR LIST!”

Yes, I know that was an arrogant, condescending thing to say. But you see they are bots and there is no other way to get through to them.

After seeing that article in the Chinese newspaper on Hillary I am having second thougths on the matter. Whatever problems the Chinese Media has compared to Big Media in this country they are a bastion of truth, a paradigm of fairness and a pleasure to read with respect to Hillary.

Sheesh…
    &&&&&

JFK had his dalliances, including Marilyn Monroe. Will Scarlett Johannsen being “playing” Marilyn in this remake?

And like all remakes, the original was far better. It’s just a matter of how bad does the remake suck?

  44. Regarding BHO’s daughters Hollywood debut, Hillary certainly did all she could to protect Chelsea when she was young from the public spotlights. Chelsea turned out to be such a wonderful young woman. Part of the reason I admire Hillary.

If you read this piece written by DONNA BRAZILE I think you might have a better understanding. It’s called “WHY AMERICANS HATE DEMOCRATS” How To Tap Into The Obama Factor. They wanted the religious voters and thought Obama could do that, guess they should of checked Rev. Wright and Father Mike first.

Here are some of the exerts from her article 2004

My entire family was, and still is, deeply spiritual, and in our own way, we all hold strong but tolerant religious views. Some of my siblings have abandoned the Catholic Church because they believe it fails to enforce the strict moral code of our faith. Now, a couple of them are what pollsters and others consider evangelical, Christian fundamentalists.
But, unlike those who spew hate and discrimination in the name of Jesus, somehow they have found a balance between their faith and what they term “fairness.”

When one of my sisters—who, coincidentally, is a recovering Republican—was told in church that she would go to hell if she voted for Sen. Kerry, she stood up and denounced the preacher’s message. Oh yeah, the religious right, armed with new recruits from the black pulpits, came after African-Americans with the same angry messages. But, as my niece confirmed in a phone conversation this week, they all voted for John Kerry anyway. Even my sister, the once-proud Republican, is now ashamed of what happened inside those churches.

religion, we believe that in order to be good disciples of Jesus, you have to not only know his words but also perform his deeds. That is where we draw the line with those who spend hours and hours in church, only to come out and hate everyone around them.
Our parents and grandparents raised us on Christian faith. It is that faith that got me into politics, and it is that faith that has proved strong enough to sustain me in these challenging times. Grandma once said, “When you’ve done all that you can do, you must stand … stand for something.”

When my grandma would often put us to sleep at night, she read from the Bible. Her favorite Scripture from the book of Galatians was, “[D]o not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Now more than ever, we must use our faith to fight on until victory is won. Continue to soar, and together we will take back our country.

  46. Networks may have to cut back on coverage of DNC covention due to bambi’s egomaniac decision to speak to his bots in a large venue. See ‘politico’ article.
    —————————–

Major television networks are considering curtailing coverage of the Democratic National Convention after Monday’s announcement that Barack Obama will accept his party’s nomination in a Denver stadium.

According to several broadcast executives, the networks will still cover all the major speeches. But beyond that, all options are open as they look for savings to balance out the anticipated costs surrounding the stadium event. The acceptance event is an unexpected departure from the traditional convention hall format for which they have spent months planning.

Network executives expect Obama’s relatively late-breaking decision to speak at Invesco Field at Mile High, a 76,000-seat football stadium, could add hundreds of thousands of dollars in costs to already cash-strapped news divisions. Each network has budgeted millions to cover the political conventions, but that spending is already accounted for in specific costs ranging from hotel rooms to staffing to building convention platforms.

For most networks, any additional outlays for the convention would come out of their 2008 campaign budget.

Obama’s decision “makes it enormously more expensive,” said Paul Friedman, senior vice president at CBS News. “It does add to the overall question of how the networks should cover what is a non-news event.”

    Per Denver post.
    ——————————————

Staffers eat a little crow over menu minutiae

Rest assured: Chicken tenders and doughnuts will make appearances at the Democratic National Convention.

In the midst of media mockery and embarrassment among national Democrats that Denver had declared fried foods a party foul and had ordered multihued entrees, the Denver host committee has softened an original document that called for caterers to be “lean and green.”

Local officials are now calling the 12 stipulations laid out in a May Request for Proposal to caterers “guidelines.”

The May request asked caterers to make “every effort” to accomplish healthy goals and called for:

    • Three-colored meals selected from the following palette: red, green, yellow, purple and white.

    • Half of the plate should belong

    to fruits and vegetables.
    • No fried foods.

    • The use of 70 percent organic or Colorado-grown ingredients.

A memo, titled “Fiction Fuels Frivolous Food Fight,” will be issued later this week in an attempt to bring everyone — caterers, national Democratic operatives tired of tongue-in-cheek press about it — back from the ledge.

“Maybe we didn’t do a very good job on the outset,” said Chris Lopez, spokesman for the Denver host committee. “We’ll take criticism for not presenting it well. It’s a guideline. It’s a recommendation. It’s not to say we have lean and green mandates.”

National convention spokeswoman Natalie Wyeth was more blunt with the host group’s early efforts to be healthy.

“I think putting rules in place regarding the colors of food . . . is a bit over the top,” she said. “We’re offering a full range of choices . . . French fries, chicken tenders, and fish and chips.”

The changes come too late for a bevy of caterers who have already spent dozens of hours crafting menus that fit with the host committee’s initial desires.

It took Darby Donohue 100 hours to create a farmer’s-market-themed party, with local growers standing by their wares that included salsa, tortillas, homemade breads, local meats and tamales.

Donohue, chief executive of Gourmet Fine Catering, didn’t get the bid. He’s disappointed but said he’s taking the idea to several private parties he will work before and during the convention, which runs Aug. 25-28.

Because of cost concerns, the local host committee has scaled back plans for 24 parties and instead will be throwing only two — a media party on the Saturday before the convention and a state delegation welcome party the following day.

Other greening efforts, promoted by local officials and the national convention committee, are underway.

People from 23 states have purchased $7.50 carbon credits with their plane tickets that will go to wind turbines in Colorado and Minnesota.

Only three states — California, Nevada and Vermont — have 100 percent of delegates participating.

A “carbon calculator” will be installed so visitors can see their carbon footprint.

In recent days, the Democratic National Convention Committee has worked hard to dispel the myth that fried foods are prohibited.

At a national media gathering Tuesday, public-affairs chief Jenni Engebret sen told reporters that there would be plenty of the unhealthy stuff to go around.

And when reporters entered the Pepsi Center, committee staffers were pushing Lamar’s “fried” doughnuts.

  48. Jesus, when ordinary people are worried about rising gas prices & everything essential to their families, these freaks are fighting for fried chickens and crazy ‘carbon calculators’. It is just so OUT of TOUCH of reality. This is just the beginning of the new Dean/Pelosi/Bambi democratic party.

No wonder democratic party keeps on losing presidential election after election.

  49. PLEASE WAKE UP AMERICANS….A vote for the car salesman is a vote for over 20 years of personal relationship with REZKO, Wright, Ayers, and Farahkhan…He is an empty suit; he can say anything to get elected. This rookie is a big PHONY. ….I’m tired of all his rhetoric…..The more I listen to this guy the more I hate him……He can not be trusted…

Remember Muslim’s sons are for life. Blood is sticker than water. He can say any thing and he can run BUT he can not hide.

I was a lifelong Democrat, but now Independent. I will never vote for Barrack Hussein OBAMA.

Please don’t be fooled by a car salesman. ….As a patriotic American; I don’t care if you are a Democrat or Republican, we deserve an honorable man like Sen. McCain.

    Go for HRC 2012!!!!!!!

  50. I just have to say, that I loathe BHO flip-flopper-flim-flammer more with each passing day. I didn’t think, it was possible, but each day, I find my loathing has deepened.

Wbboei: Great analysis, as usual. What a travesty.

Anyone know, how Hillary voted on FISA?

Kostner: received your e-mail. Will work on it, when I’m not at work.

  52. I don’t know about you all, but I get tired of reading and/or hearing that the sexism used in the campaign wasn’t Obama’s fault so don’t be mad at him. It was his surrogates and the news media fault.

I disagree that it isn’t Obama’s fault. He allowed the sexism to continue by never committing on it or publicly disavowing it!!

Anytime something happens, it never is his fault. It is always someone else’s fault or they weren’t the person he thought they were. Oh please!!! This gives a preview of how his presidency will be.

  53. Can’t find the link where it says HRC’s debt is down to 5 million but thought i should post this, anyway.

    A Daily Call to Action:

As you know, headquarters is calling HRC’s donors to ask for donations. PLEASE, if you have any time in the next two days, go to headquarters and help them make calls. Please see the below information, as this is truly why it matters: (FYI, I’m not sure what the 7/15/2008 date means and I’ve asked, so I’ll let you know once I find out)

    (This was on Riverdaughter):

The message that needs to go out to folks calling supporters should focus on getting Hillary’s dept paid by 7/15! Found this on RD and it looks like the SDs are listening to blog radio as well. We need to move quickly.
    ________________________________________________________________________________________________

do not forget hillary’s and our campaign debt is down to $ 5 million and we have till 7/15/2008 to raise these dollars befor dean and Obama shut her down.
If the debt is not paid by her loyal supporters…then prehaps obama will pay in in exchange for….
    1. Hillary release her delegates
    2. No floor nomination of Hillary at the convention
    3. No roll call vote or first ballot
    4. No speech at the convention by our girl on her platform of core democratic values
Hillary is a woman of her word and she promised her venders they would be paid…ladies and gentlemen she is in a tuff spot, and again she needs us please let us answer the call to retire the once and for all.
also I am checking to see who the SD’s belonged to that listened to the conf call this weekend…but its funny how after they listened the DNC came down hard on our girls fundraising….

  54. I am going to her site now, and giving something, and I have mailed all of my firends.

  55. How can they keep her off the ballot, if her debt is not paid off? Doesn’t she have until the convention to pay it off?

Where is the link? I saw this posted last night, but there is no link.

  56. NMF,

I want to see the article that says $6 mill has been paid off since July 4th. let me know if you find it.

  57. birdgal,

i saw it last night, as well. Jen posted it. It’s also been commented on at NQ. Someone said it’s on Riverdaughter but I couldn’t find it. Hope it’s not a hoax. 🙁

  58. Bambi buffoon is causing international headache for Germany. Gosh, this guy is sooooo sooooo much like George W. Bush.
    ————————–
    Per Washington Post.
Conservative German Chancellor Angela Merkel today sternly warned Sen. Barack Obama against speaking at Berlin’s famed Brandenburg Gate when he passes through Europe later in the month, with her spokesman telling reporters that such “electioneering” would be “inappropriate” at a site of such historical significance.

Merkel was responding to a report in the German magazine Der Spiegel, which said “the Berlin state government has reportedly been asked” whether Obama could speak at the columned structure where Ronald Reagan implored Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall and where revelers famously celebrated the wall’s demise. Obama is expected to be in the German capital July 24, the Agence France Presse reported.

  59. Upthread I saw a reference to Germany. They are swooning over Bambi. Why?

Suppose you were in a continuing negotiation with a powerful adversary. Would you rather have that adversary be represented by a smart and savy negotiator who is firmly committed to her constituents? Or would you rather have it be represented by a lazy, narcissistic, bloviating loon who you could wrap around your finger?

Germany is not our friend. They are our competitor. I rest my case.

  60. Obama campaign aides have not formally confirmed any details about his European trip and declined again to do so this morning.

Through her spokesman, Merkel, one of President Bush’s strongest allies, was blunt. She said she would be willing to meet with the senator from Illinois, but not at the Brandenburg Gate.

“It is unusual to hold election rallies abroad,” sniffed Merkel spokesman Thomas Steg. “No German candidate for high office would even think of using the National Mall or Red Square in Moscow for a rally because it would not be seen as appropriate.”

Merkel may ultimately have no choice. The left-leaning government in Berlin decides what can and cannot be done at the Brandenburg Gate, and AFP reported the Berlin mayor, Klaus Wowereit, is inclined to give Obama the go-ahead. The foreign ministry has also said it would welcome an Obama address there, worrying that blocking such a request would be seen as an affront to the man who could be the next president of the United States.

“Senator Obama looks forward to his visit to Germany and his opportunity to meet with the Chancellor,” said Obama spokesperson Jen Psaki. “He has considered several sites for a possible speech, and he will choose one that makes most sense for him and his German hosts.”

  61. Per HotAir:

Which Obama will we see — hard Left or nouveau Right?posted at 2:15 pm on July 9, 2008 by Ed Morrissey
Send to a Friend | printer-friendly Barack Obama reiterated his support for the FISA compromise, set for a vote today in the Senate after its passage in the House before the Independence Day break. Obama pledged to split telecom immunity from the bill, which would have basically trashed the compromise and thrown the entire effort back to square 1:
The Senate is finally expected to wrap up the bill updating the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act today, which includes the controversial provision of retroactive immunity for telecom companies facing lawsuit. While the bill splits Democrats, it’s expected to pass with united Republican support.
Obama will be back for today’s vote and has said he’ll support final passage.
Two amendments attempted to do just that. The first, sponsored by Arlen Specter, got defeated 61-37, with Obama voting in support. The second, sponsored by Jeff Bingaman and Russ Feingold, also went down to defeat on a 56-42 vote, again with Obama supporting. The latter would have removed telecom immunity entirely, while Specter’s amendment would have forced immunity to wait on a ruling on the constitutionality and legality the NSA’s surveillance programs.
The question now becomes whether Obama will keep his word — or, rather, which word he’ll keep. He promised at one time to filibuster any bill that contained telecom immunity. Now he pledged to support the bill, even with telecom immunity. As John Stephenson notes, his base is ready to explode if he votes Yea on the final bill.
As these votes show, however, the case against telecom immunity has failed to win a majority of the Senate or the House. We can expect a fairly easy passage of the final FISA bill, allowing the NSA to get back to business and the trial lawyers to look for another target. I’ll update this as the news proceeds.

  62. This Germany thing, is so over the top and very disgusting. Why doesn’t anyone put any limits on this guy’s pompous and entitled behavior? Can you imagine the outrage and anger, if Hillary attempted such an outrageous thing? It is so inappropriate. One would think, the German people would know better, than to allow such a thing. Didn’t they learn anything from Hitler?

  63. I gave HRC $50 yesterday. Unfortunately, it was all I could afford to do. But it sure as hell made me feel better to do SOMETHING for her.

    PUMA!!

  64. I was LMAO when I read the networks may not cover Waffles’ stadium convention speech because it’ll be so costly.

BTW, there’ve been several stories that no one knows who’s in charge of McCain’s campaign. He’d better get his act together. Put one person at the top (like Clinton did with Carville) and go from there.

  65. Who is directing this remake of Triumph of the Will which manages to stub its toe at every turn? Leni Reifenstal, Eric Von Strolheim or Oliver Stone? I understand what Merkel is really worried about is that if they let Bambi anywhere near the Brandenburg Gate he will plant his faux presidential seal on it and from that day forward he will refer to it as MY Brandenburg Gate. I told them their concern was well placed.

  66. DONNA DOES DENVER
“There’s nothing symbolically wrong to putting her name in,” followed by a scripted withdrawal, said Ms. Brazile. But the spectacle of a rapturous welcome for Sen. Clinton would be irresistible to television and could embarrass Sen. Obama.
The Obama campaign said Monday that the Illinois senator would accept the nomination at the 76,000-seat stadium where the Denver Broncos football team plays so that thousands of nondelegates could attend. But the campaign hasn’t settled other key questions about the convention, including whether Sen. Clinton’s name will be put into nomination, said Obama spokesman Bill Burton.
Sen. Clinton’s campaign office didn’t answer emails seeking comment. Under party rules, Sen. Clinton’s huge delegate count gives her the right to put her name into nomination.
“But do you do it?” asked Ms. Brazile. ”Politically, does it heighten tensions?”

I just emailed her and told her I supported her decision about not approving of BO’s speech taking place at the Brandenburg. I wrote that he is not even the official Dem. Pres. candidate yet and that there is a growing concern about his experience and qualifications here in the USA, and that there are many Americans who do not support his candidacy.

Here’s Merkel’s mailing address and phone number:
Call the Federal Government’s Bürgertelefon on +49 (0)180 272 00 00 at local call rate when calling from Germany.

  69. BO has a 21st century long-legged Macdaddy Napoleon Complex and his Waterloo can’t arrive too quickly. 😈

Personally, as an avid music-lover, Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos are among the top 10 compositions of all time and the thought of His Snottiness getting anywhere near the inspiration for some of Bach’s masterpieces is revolting.

    👿

  70. birdgal,
    I read bout Boxer, too.

I’m disappoited HRC voted for FISA but at least she didn’t LIE to her supporters and make the issue a centerpiece of her platform to woo the left as His Snottiness did.

    Still, I agree. it stinks.

  71. Paula,
‘I was LMAO when I read the networks may not cover Waffles’ stadium convention speech because it’ll be so costly.’

    👿

His Snottiness is a high maintenance candidate.

  72. I don’t expect to agree with every vote a politician casts. I guess I just accept that even my favs have different views from my own on occasion.

  73. FYI,
About the debt and SD’s. Comments from clintondems

“….. the original post on the debt situation. It was from CognitiveDissonance on July 8th at Heidi LI’s Potpourri under the Denver Group Alert. Apparently it came from Diane at JSND originally, then was reported by riverdaughter.”

The SD info comes from posters on riverdaughter’s blog, Spikin’ in the endzone, at The Confluence.
The debt reduction info came from a poster who says riverdaughter herself is the source…again from The Confluence. In fact, I was looking for this when I found the posts about the super delegates.

  74. I’m confused. On NOQuarter, there has been a discussion about FISA.

She voted yes on amendments that would have changed the bill. Voted no on the bill itself.

    So, I stand corrected.

My word, now Hillary isn’t even allowed to “heighten tensions”???

Dear Ms Brazile, is your skin too thin? Is this job too tough for you?

Is this too hard on Obama? Is his skin too thin to handle being president, or even the nominee? Get out, if you can’t handle the pressure. We’re only talking about going through the official motions, the same way they’ve done for over 100 years.

As for any “embarrassment” Obama might suffer, he’s brought all the embarrassment he needs and deservers on himself. Captain Panda is tearing himself down. Hillary has just stayed out of the way since early June.

    Dangerous Path

So, Sen. Obama showed up in the Senate to vote for the amendments that would, if they had passed, removed or delayed retroactive immunity for the telecoms that committed felonies in spying on Americans.
This is a classic CYA move: he was against telecom immunity, so he voted for the amendments, which everyone knew were doomed to failure anyway. Yet he cannot muster the political courage to stand up to the administration’s fearmongering and vote against the bill in its entirety.
Sen. Obama, you are going down a a dangerous path here.

    1. You are risking the support and enthusiasm of your most passionate backers. Sure, we won’t vote for McCain. But many will stay home in November, rather than vote for this election cycle’s LOTE (lesser of two evils).
    2. You are risking our 4th amendment rights–the freedom from unreasonable search and seizure. Warrants will no longer be required to moniter conversations going outside the country–thus, anyone communicating with a friend or family member spending a year abroad can no longer count on the privacy of their conversations. And who doesn’t have a friend, brother, sister, or uncle living abroad in this globalized world? Actions such as this are currently felonies punishable by a fine of $10,000 or 5 years in prison.
    3. You are risking America’s standing in the world as a place where the law is king, where corruption does not reign, and where every citizen gets equal treatment under the law. What you are doing by assenting to this heinous bill is creating a two-tiered system of justice whereby the richest and most powerful are not held accountable for crimes everybody knows they committed. If it were known that I or some other ordinary person had committed a felony, could we expect Congress to change the law for us so that we didn’t have to go to court to be held accountable for our actions? No. The full weight of the law would be brought to bear upon us, even for the most trivial offenses.
Sen. Obama, if you will not be the standard-bearer, we must bear the standard ourselves. You have invited us to hold you accountable; I intend to. If you will not listen, if Congress will not listen, we must find candidates who will. We must vote every Democratic senator who voted for this horrible bill out of Congress. We must take to the streets in anger and indignation. We must create new media outlets to combat the confusion and insecurity among Americans that makes such violations of our constitutional rights possible in the first place.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to us with your post “My Position On FISA” dated July 3rd, 2008. In your response, you pledged to “listen to [our] concerns, take them seriously, and seek to earn [our] ongoing support,” and in that spirit, we would like to continue this conversation. We ask that you help transfer our passion and political activism into getting the FISA bill right — now.

Senator, as a legal scholar who has done extensive study of our country’s constitution, you know that the FISA re-authorization bill currently before the Senate (HR 6304) threatens the rights guaranteed to American citizens in the Constitution, especially the Fourth Amendment.

One of the most troubling parts of this bill is its provision to provide retroactive immunity from civil lawsuits for telecommunications companies that may have assisted the Bush administration in violating the civil rights of Americans. You wrote in your statement that you “support striking Title II,” which provides this immunity, “from the bill, and will work with Chris Dodd, Jeff Bingaman and others in an effort to remove this provision in the Senate.”

We ask that you back up your words with action by addressing your constituents on the floor of the Senate with the same oratorical power you used in Philadelphia to lay out your vision of a ‘More Perfect Union.’ The American people have just as much right to know of the dangerous precedent this Congress would be setting by granting retroactive immunity to those who “may have violated the law” and allowing spying on law-abiding citizens as we did to relearn of segregation and Jim Crow. The arm of government oppression reaches far and wide, Senator, and we must beat it back on whatever front we find it.

We ask you to reconsider your current position on the bill as a whole and strongly oppose a bill about which you said, “I know that the FISA bill that passed the House is far from perfect. I wouldn’t have drafted the legislation like this, and it does not resolve all of the concerns that we have about President Bush’s abuse of executive power.” In your statement you also wrote, “In a dangerous world, government must have the authority to collect the intelligence we need to protect the American people. But in a free society, that authority cannot be unlimited.” We agree. Our nation just spent the holiday weekend in celebration of our independence from unlimited government authority. America in 1776 wished to be strong and free. Much has changed in 232 years but Americans will never consciously abandon freedom.

Senator, while you wrote that not passing this bill would result in the government “losing important surveillance tools,” these important surveillance tools are in fact blanket surveillance programs already underway solely due to the passage of the Protect America Act, which you rightly opposed and voted against. This is only one example of how, even without the provisions for retroactive immunity, this bill is still dangerous to the civil liberties of American citizens.

As we understand it Senator, your oath to uphold the Constitution requires you and others in the Congress to vote against HR 6304.

We appreciate your willingness to continue the discussion. We represent a large and vocal part of the movement you have nurtured and that has nurtured you during this campaign season, and include many of your most active and ardent supporters. As you have said time and again Senator, “we are the ones we have been waiting for,” and we are here, working to bring about real change in Washington. We have grown to over 20,000 strong in the space of just a few days. We are lobbying our representatives, and working to get our friends, relatives and neighbors to do the same. We are organizing support for removing the immunity provisions for telecommunications companies and building opposition to this dangerous bill in its entirety.

Working together, we have a better chance to assist Senators Dodd and Bingaman, and can achieve what your commitment to us, your supporters, has been before your recent change in position. Together, we can protect our civil rights and continue to keep America safe. Please join us and let’s work together to Get FISA Right.

CNN also has a story, “Obama regrets putting his kids on TV”.

When is some big stupid talking head going to come out and accuse him of “pimping out” his daughters???

    ————————————————————————————————————————————–

I was wondering the exact same thing myself! Would love to hear someone call him out on this. The nerve to pimp out his own children.

  87. RGB,
    My post from 8AM
    REPOST!!!!
    Headline at ABC:
    Obama Family goes Hollywood;
Allow young daughters to participate in TV interview. Obama Girls dish about ‘08 race. the oldest says it was so cool to see her mom in People Mag, where the news is often about how much the stars clothes cost . . . (paraphrasing)
The interview is on Access Hollywood.
I really do believe i’m going to be ill. 🙁
UPDATE!!!!! BO waffles once again and admits letting his daughters appear on nationwide cable tv was inappropriate and the family got carried away because it was the older daughter’s birthday. QUESTION!!! What if he gets “CARRIED AWAY” at 3AM when reports of an attack on America is reported????

  88. birdgal,

“Hmmm….. Wonder, if Schuster will accuse BHO of pimping out his daughters?”

    👿

What really burns me are the comments where His Snottiness said the family got ‘carried away” coz it was his daughter’s birthday.
Seems like he’s got a habit of getting ‘carried away;” the presidential seal rip-off, Mile-High Stadium, the Berlin Wall, proclaiming himself the nominee months before the end of the primaries, moving the DNC to Chicago.

  89. BlueDem, 1950Democrat: here is an improved version of what I posted yesterday, which is my attempt to understand what happened here. It is important that this history does not get swept under the rug because if that happens some evil precent will be set. There is no pride of authorship. Treat it like Wikkopedia and improve as you see fit.

MY TAKE ON THE 2008 DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY

    1. The Democratic Party strategy for 2008 was based on the Dean Plan. Under that plan the party needed to pick the nominee eight (8) months before the general election, i.e. by early March to properly coordinate implementation efforts.

    2. By early March Barack Obama, (aka Bambi) had racked up 12 caucus state victories, thanks to the incompetence of Mark Penn. At that point it was reasonable to assume that he would secure enough pledged delegates to win the nomination.

    3. Therefore the three stooges (Dean, Pelosi, Brazille) of the Democratic National Committee met with the Kennedy cabal and agreed to that Bambi would be the nominee. However, they did not tell the Clintons for fear of reprisal. Instead they let Hillary go on campaigning. In addition they let her continue soliciting funds on the assumption that voters would determine the nominee.

    4. They quietly informed the heads of the Big Media outlets that Bambi would be the nominee. Orders went down through those organizations to promote Bambi. Again this was all in furtherance of the Dean Plan. And of course they told Bambi. Big Media and Bambi then formed an alliance to promote his candidacy and attack hers. Thus, Big Media became an extension of Bambi.

    5. They trumpeted the idea that Bambi was a new kind of politician. They encouraged people weary of the Bush Presidency to project their hopes and dreams for the future on him. They talked about the formation of a new coalition of blacks, latte liberals and youth. They lauded his fundraising through the internet. Gullible people swallowed it hook line and sinker, while cynical insiders saw an opportunity for personal gain.

    6. Then the Reverend Wright story broke and Bambi began to sink. Hillary staged a comeback in Texas and Ohio. The race became competitive once more. Suddenly, the three stooges were in a quandary. They had secretly selected Bambi but the voters were beginning to reject him for that reason.

    7. Hillary went to Pennsylvania and vigorously campaigned with Governor Rendell. Rendell, former head of the DNC, promoted Hillary and differentiated Bambi. Bambi panicked and phoned Rendell. He told Rendell go easy on me because you know I will be the nominee. Rendell was unaware of the secret coronation, was taken aback by the statement and reported it on Larry King.

    8. Then Bambi ventured off script and made his infamous bitters comment. Also he privately reneged on NAFTA reform to the Canadian Government. Thereafter, Hillary won Pennsylvania by a wide margin. Dodd, Kerry, Leahe sprang into action and called for Hillary to exit the race. Big Media echoed the same refrain. They claimed it was for party unity but the real purpose was to prevent the voters from undermining their clandestine coronation.

    9. Hillary rejected those pleas and vowed to fight on so that every voter would be heard. She also vowed to fight to ensure that the votes cast by Florida and Michigan who were arbitrarly disenfranchised by the DNC after voting overwhelmingly for her were given full faith and credit. The three stooges were now in full panic mode. They joined Bambi to block a revote.

    10. They also realized that there was no way Bambi could achieve the required number of pledged delegates to secure the nomination. Therefore, they changed their position on super delegates, announced they were not bound by the will of their constituents and proceeded to pay them money or threaten them to support Bambi. Ed Koch warned about the former.

    11. When Hillary went to Indiana Bambi claimed he would win the state. A poll taken a week before backed him up. Then a day before big media posted a poll that showed her winning big, and when she won narrowly they treated it like a loss. And when she lost North Carolina by a much lower margin than predicted Big Media declared Bambi the nominee.

    13. Next came the Rules and Bylaws Committee. The DNC instructed the committee to strip delegates earned by Clinton in Michigan and award them to Bambi whose name was not on the ballot. The night before the hearing members knew about this and were overheard laughing about how the Hillary supporters would look standing out in the rain when the bad news came down. (Note: they never anticipated Harriet Christian however).

    14. Hillary went to South Dakota which she was not expected to win. All the party elites had supported Bambi. The press took an innocent comment she made against RFK and turned it into a death wish. They cast her not as the tenacious and determined heroine that she was but as a deranged villain in Fatal Attraction. And when the day of the vote came they published a false story that she would resign that evening in an effort to suppress voter turnout and deny her the popular vote. Nevertheless, she won.

    15. At the conclusion of the process she won the popular vote, the electoral map, the key congressional districts, the debates and the momentum. She appealed to the super delegates to abide by their mandate to select her because she was the most likely to win the general election. But it was to no avail.

    16. The DNC used phony math to declare him the presumptive nominee. Under the party rules, neither candidate had enough pledged delegates to win the nomination. The super delegates could not vote until the convention. Yet Bambi stampeded the super delegates into supporting him through money and coercion. Then, the DNC added their unofficial votes to the official votes of the pledged delegates to declare him the winner. Big Media actively promoted that false narrative.

    17. Then the powers that be insisted she terminate her campaign immediately. According to Wrangel there were threats to run candidates against her supporters, and according to him the votes for her were not there. What specific threats were made against her personally I do not know. What I do know is that forcing her to terminate her campaign and endorse her opponent was anti-democratic, wrongful and without precedent.

    18. Since suspending her campaign Hillary has become a hostage of the party. Recently she appeared with him in Unity New Hampshire. She has offered her fundraisers to him. Less than half of her eighteen million supporters have defected to him. During the campaign he tried to destroy the legacy of Bill Clinton through false charges of racism. Now he expects Bill to deliver the traditional democrats he spurned and will never reach.

    19. Big Media and Bambi surrogates continued to attack Hillary for fear that she would rise again at the convention. They now refer to her as the “defeated” or the “vanquished” candidate. If the truth mattered to Big Media (which it does not) then they would call her what she is namely “the candidate who won the popular vote, the electoral map, the key congressional swing districts, the debates and the momentum at the end of the race, despite a hostile vituperative press and being outspent 5 to 1”.

    20. Meanwhile, more than forty (40) grass roots organizations have formed across the country to support the nomination of Hillary, to decry the misogyny of Big Media, to monitor the convention, and to defeat Bambi in November. Approximately one quarter of Hillary’s supporters have defected to McCain. The remaining one quarter intend to not vote. They are called the Just Say No Deal Coalition. The Most prominent is PUMA—which in the vernacular means party unity my ass.

    21. The Denver Convention will be interesting to watch. In some respects, it harkens back to 1968 in the sense that there are two wars and a sinking economy, the elites have chosen their own candidate over the one who won the popular vote, they are attempting to cover up a corrupt process under the pretense of unity, the convention will be placed on lockdown with heavily armed police, Dean wants to keep Hillary’s name on the ballot for fear of a revolt but if he fails to do so it will undermine the legitimacy of his candidate, so the DNC is again in a quandary.

    21. Meanwhile, Bambi has revealed a side of himself that is not in keeping with the carefully crafted media image he wants you to see. With Hillary off the stage and all eyes focused on him, what we see is a big business shill who changes major policy positions when it suits his fancy, has little personal loyalty and is capable of bizarre behavior bordering on megalomania. Supporters became nervous, Big Media tried to change the subject and Republicans worried he might self destruct before the Convention in which case they would have to face Hillary and would not win.

    22. It is entirely different with Hillary Clinton. During the course of this campaign people in the traditional coalition saw that she is a legitimate populist who will challenge the entrenched economic interests that control our political system for their own benefit and to the detriment of the rest of us. To the middle class she was their salvation. To many women she was the way. And for the country at large she was the leader whose time has come.

    23. But to the entrenched economic interests she was the challenger who must be destroyed—much as they tried to destroy Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. Today those interests control the Media, Bambi and Big Media thanks to the consolidation which has occurred. It is hard to predict the future. Some say she will rise to a position of leadership in the Senate, others claim she will be marginalized, and we hope she is not forced to take the vice presidency. She is the greatest leader of our time, our country needs a great leader now more than ever, let us not waste her.

    24. To Big Media who has so disgraced itself in this election I would say this: “The Lady’s Not for Burning”. Sure as the earth turns, history will note how you abdicated your institutional role under the First Amendment, subverted the truth, thwarted the majority and did your level best to destroy a great political leader and her family for your own aggrandizement. You turned a deaf ear to your own audience when they objected. It took the foreign press to call the game on you and now they have. It began with the British Press and has now moved around the world to Asia. Here is the latest headline from the country that is the largest holder of our t-bills: “Hillary: A Heroine for Women, Taken Down By Male Dominated Media”. Nice work MSNBC, CNN, LAT, CT etc.

    25. Summary and Implications: i) the Democratic Party is no longer the party of the people, ii) the DNC has thrown its traditional base under the bus, iii) the DNC has substituted its judgment for that of the voters, iv) the DNC erred by declaring the winner prematurely, v) the DNC committed fraud when it allowed one hundred million dollars of campaign dollars to be solicited on the assumption that this was a competitive race when in fact it was not, vi) the Iron Triangle of Bambi, Big Media and the DNC cannot be trusted and vii) Hillary should be the nominee. The super delegates in Denver will have one final opportunity to cure this problem. If they shrink from doing so the damage to our country and our party may turn out to be irreversible.

  90. ROTF!

“Jesse Jackson caught saying that he feels that Barack Obama has “cut off his balls with the black community” in a private conversation.”

CNN says the comments are too crude to be aired but apparently FOX has no problems with it and will show the video tonight.

  91. This thread has got bigger since the FISA vote! Will Bower of Pumapac wants us to all go make nice with the disillusioned bots.

A sample bot says to Obama:
“I have been watching C-Span 2 for two days to listen to the debates and vote on the FISA BILL. After the vote I removed your sign from the front window, and your bumper sticker from my car. Hillary voted against this bill. Lets draft her at the convention.”

  92. 14. innocent comment “about” RFK

    15. I forgot to mention the rampant cheating in Indiana. I was there when it occurred. There were more votes cast in Gary (all for Obama) than there were registered voters. Also, the rampant abuses in the caucuses.
