In Other Words – Hillary Clinton And NOvember

We ended yesterday’s Fourth of July article with this declaration and advice:

Organize and remember our Founding Mothers and Fathers were made of stern stuff, not glitter without substance.

In other words, we are not giving up on Hillary Clinton as our nominee. At the same time we are committed to NObama, NOvember.

Shortly after we posted yesterday’s article, we added to the conversation the New York Times editorial on Barack Obama:

Now there seems to be a new Barack Obama on the hustings. First, he broke his promise to try to keep both major parties within public-financing limits for the general election. His team explained that, saying he had a grass-roots-based model and that while he was forgoing public money, he also was eschewing gold-plated fund-raisers. These days he’s on a high-roller hunt.

Even his own chief money collector, Penny Pritzker, suggests that the magic of $20 donations from the Web was less a matter of principle than of scheduling. [snip]

The new Barack Obama has abandoned his vow to filibuster an electronic wiretapping bill if it includes an immunity clause for telecommunications companies that amounts to a sanctioned cover-up of Mr. Bush’s unlawful eavesdropping after 9/11. [snip]

Now, he supports the immunity clause as part of what he calls a compromise but actually is a classic, cynical Washington deal that erodes the power of the special court, virtually eliminates “vigorous oversight” and allows more warrantless eavesdropping than ever.

The Barack Obama of the primary season used to brag that he would stand before interest groups and tell them tough truths. The new Mr. Obama tells evangelical Christians that he wants to expand President Bush’s policy of funneling public money for social spending to religious-based organizations — a policy that violates the separation of church and state and turns a government function into a charitable donation. [snip]

He says he would not allow those groups to discriminate in employment, as Mr. Bush did, which is nice. But the Constitution exists to protect democracy, no matter who is president and how good his intentions may be.

On top of these perplexing shifts in position, we find ourselves disagreeing powerfully with Mr. Obama on two other issues: the death penalty and gun control.[snip]

We are not shocked when a candidate moves to the center for the general election. But Mr. Obama’s shifts are striking because he was the candidate who proposed to change the face of politics, the man of passionate convictions who did not play old political games.

In other words, the New York Times is finally discovering what we have known from the very beginning:

Obama simply cannot be trusted. Obama cannot be trusted on any issue. Obama cannot be trusted by his friends. Obama cannot be trusted by his enemies. Obama cannot be trusted.

Charles Krauthammer also wrote yesterday:

Obama’s seasonally adjusted principles are beginning to pile up: NAFTA, campaign finance reform, warrantless wiretaps, flag pins, gun control. What’s left?

Iraq. The reversal is coming, and soon.

Two weeks ago, I predicted that by Election Day Obama will have erased all meaningful differences with McCain on withdrawal from Iraq. I underestimated Obama’s cynicism.

In other words, Charles Krauthammer is saying in many more words what we have known from the very beginning:

Obama simply cannot be trusted. Obama cannot be trusted on any issue. Obama cannot be trusted by his friends. Obama cannot be trusted by his enemies. Obama cannot be trusted.

By 5:00 yesterday, carbynew posted the latest poll which reiterates what we have written about HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.

The CNN poll:

One week after Sen. Hillary Clinton made a public show of unity with Sen. Barack Obama, a new survey suggests supporters of the New York senator are increasingly less likely to follow her lead.

In other words, every day we organize and email and communicate and every day more and more Hillary Clinton supporters will follow us and less and less will vote for flip-flop-flim-flam man Barack Obama.

A growing number of Clinton supporters polled say they may stay home in November instead of casting their ballot for Obama, an indication the party has yet to coalesce around the Illinois senator four weeks after the most prolonged and at times divisive primary race in modern American history came to a close.

In other words, NOvember. Just say NO and stay home. Or even (gasp) write in Hillary. Or even (gasp) vote for McCain.

According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll released Friday, the number of Clinton supporters who plan to defect to Republican Sen. John McCain’s camp is down from one month ago, but — in what could be an ominous sign for Obama as he seeks to unify the party — the number of them who say they plan to vote for Obama is also down, and a growing number say they may not vote at all.

In other words, NObama, NOvember.

In a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey completed in early June before the New York senator ended her White House bid, 60 percent of Clinton backers polled said they planned on voting for Obama. In the latest poll, that number has dropped to 54 percent.

In early June, 22 percent of Clinton supporters polled said they would not vote at all if Obama were the party’s nominee, now close to a third say they will stay home.

In another sign the wounds of the heated primary race have yet to heal, 43 percent of registered Democrats polled still say they would prefer Clinton to be the party’s presidential nominee. That number is significantly higher than it was in early June, when 35 percent of Democrats polled said they preferred Clinton to lead the party’s presidential ticket.

In other words, by August, Obama the flip-flop-flim-flammer will be exposed as the unqualifed and unelectable buffoon he is. Hillary Clinton is our nominee.

The CNN article has some misinformation. It declares that “neutral” observers say bad things about Bill Clinton and therefore his poll approval numbers are down by 9 points. By “neutral” CNN means Obama sleeper agents Brazille and Clyburn and Sharpton, all of whom were Obama supporters.

The CNN article also states that Hillary Clinton supporters will vote Democratic in November even as their poll shows the NObama NOvember army is GROWING.

In other words, Organize. Don’t listen to Big Media, DailyKooks or PINO Big Blogs. Organize. Our numbers are growing.

NObama, NOvember.

In other words: Organize.

Remember:

Obama simply cannot be trusted. Obama cannot be trusted on any issue. Obama cannot be trusted by his friends. Obama cannot be trusted by his enemies. Obama cannot be trusted.

  2. That CNN poll is veeeeryy inteeeeresting. I’ve been posting about it on previous threads.

I’d like to see more of the data than is given in this nasty ‘analysis’. Looks like they’re deliberately obscuring how much or little difference there is between last month’s 3 million for McCain and this months’ decrease. Is it even fewer voters, or just has the McCain percentage gone down some fraction of a point (perhaps because other groups have increased their numbers)?

Anyway, someone at NQ had a great point about comparing percent of registered Dems who said X last month with those who say X now — lots of Dems have changed registration this month, as part of their switching to McCain.

  3. “What the hell do they think we are? Barnyard animals,” asked Tom Mestnik, a member of The Re-create ’68 Alliance, an umbrella group organizing the protesters.
    ———————————————-
The short answer Tom is yes, and the game Bambi is playing is Animal Farm.

Is this Re-Create ’68 on the level? Someone told me it is a bambi front–like the Trust was for Felix Dzygersky head of the Checka–as in the we do not judge we strike–that Checka.

If they realized the truth that bambi is a front for international business interests like Soros it could be the Battle of Seattle all over again. At a minimum these good little bolsheviks should be shown a copy of his donor list. Oh, yes and they should also know about how his campaign has systematically replaced grass roots supporters with millionaires and their girlfriends in Calif.

  4. wbboei,

I think I saw the Churchill quote back in 1998 about the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy. Healthy minded people don’t believe such conspiracies are possible, and the unhealthy minded are doing the conspiring themselves.

I think one thing that makes the current theories about Soros hard to credit, is: what happened to the previous One Big Rich Mastermind Behind Everything in the World? During the impeachment it was Richard Mellon Schaife (who this year endorsed Hillary). Iirc in the 2000 election it was Rupert Murdoch who owns all the world’s newspapers.

Why aren’t Scaife and Murdoch taking after Soros? Where Are They Now?

Hm. And they’re just the type to believe in conspiracies….

  6. NoBama in NOvember works for me. Waffles, FlipperHead is a lying sack of shit and he is not worthy to lick shit from Hillary or Bill’s shoes. I can’t wait till him and his smug wifes arses get took down for the count. I cannot think of them being in our white house. He is dangerous and his flipperness should be the start of a wake up call for all those who have been bamboozled.

I hope his poll numbers take a huge dive next week. Interesting that he’ll be bringing Hill back next week .. I guess that’s a sign his numbers are tanking. Get Hill when the anvil you create is sinking.

Bite me turd ass WaffleFlipperHead Obama. I can’t stand you and I’ll never vote for you and I continue to work hard every day turning people from you. It’s actuallly quite easy to do so as well.

  7. That Soros is backing Bambi is a proven fact. That he is doing so to promote his business interests is a logical inference. That he would work to defeat Hillary is another logical inference since he favors open borders because borders are sources of friction for the movement of international goods and labor globalists favor.

Remember how Hillary vowed to re evauate NAFTA impact on American workers, while bambi made the same noises but could hardly wait to dispatch Goolsby to whisper in the ear of Canadian officials and others who have an economic interest in a status quo harmful to large segments of Americans (while beneficial to others) that he did not mean it.

Does that mean Soros is master of the Universe? No. Does it mean he is Edgar Bergen and Bambi is Charlie McCarthy. No it is not that simple. What I am saying however is that people of his ilk–global capitalists are buying into a position of undue influence and there is no credible counterforce in bambi entourage to stand up for us. If you can imagine the trillions of dollars that have been generated off shore in the past ten years that are looking to manipulate our markets you will understand what I am worrying about.

Hillary’s campaign stood for the opposite proposition–that government should be the servant of the people and not the slave of international business. That is part of the reason we will not give up on this.

  8. Has anyone notice if you just google youtube it brings up the first page of videos. The first video is Ogreman’s comment to Hillary about the assassination plot against the Bambi. The internet and youtube is being controlled by the bots (probably Soros and the big money people).
They want to make sure Hillary makes no comeback this time!!

  9. why don’t they just report the truth? Just once!!!

the truth is he stopped using hair color and botox injections!!!! as a scam to reel in the New Youthful Democratic party

Campaign trail a gray area for Obama
The realization almost always prompts a double take, a moment of inspection, maybe even a debate: Is baby-faced Barack Obama, the symbol of a younger political generation, actually aging in front of us?

By his own admission this week, “the gray is coming quick,” so that it now dusts his head like snowflakes. The laugh lines cut a little deeper, and the crow’s-feet around his eyes appear slightly more pronounced.

The presidency ages presidents, but so, it seems, has the longest campaign in modern history aged a candidate.

“By the time I’m sworn in, I will look the part,” Obama acknowledged to donors Wednesday in Colorado Springs, Colo., one month before his 47th birthday.

He confirmed what has been whispered for months among political insiders and raised in reader e-mails to journalists who cover him closely: Similar to President Bush and former President Bill Clinton, who came into office with far less gray hair and wrinkles than when they prepared to exit, Obama is already developing the presidential patina, a weathered look that builds after months of sleepless nights and stress.

  11. Obama’s Jimmy Carter Failure
    Jul 5, 2008
    Slater Bakhtavar – Persian Journal

    Iranian.ws

Barack Obama has said that he is inclined to meet with the internationally controversial Iranian President at the right time after due preparation and advance work by US diplomats. Contrary to mainstream media views, the President of Iran is virtually powerless. Any candidate for the presidency of Iran must first be vetted by a hard-line group of twelve clerics who are controlled by the un-elected Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei. During the recent election for President of Iran the members of the Guardian Council disqualified over ninety-eight percent of the candidates, including all female candidates and virtually every single reformist. Hence, although Iran has elections, these elections are simply fodder for the mainstream media, providing straw figures to distract foreign politicians like Barack Obama.

Many of Barack Obama’s national security policies are sideways backward-looking and retreads from the Carter Administration. During the 1970’s, Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who had acceded to the monarchist governmental leadership role present throughout Iran’s history, nonetheless implemented economic, educational and social reforms. In 1978, in the midst of democratic reforms, the Shah and the Iranian people celebrated 2,500 years of Persian Monarchy. Thereafter, the Carter Administration, awkwardly wielding a contorted rhetoric of “human rights” thoughtlessly encouraged the overthrow of the Shah and thereby hastened the arrival of an exiled and obscure cleric Ayatollah Khomeini, and with him the Islamic Republic of Iran.

President Carter’s misguided approach to raising human rights (catered to fundamentalists and communists) in the context of US-Iran relations, led to the Shah’s fall. Iran then became a theocratic abyss, whose radical fundamentalists tolerated far more abuse and torture of political prisoners than the Shah ever had, and supported a stream of terrorist acts and causes. The individuals who comprise Iran’s theocracy are now the world’s, as well as the vast majority of the Iranian people’s, greatest enemies.

Now, Obama is sounding a line on Iran similar to the disastrous approach of Carter. Obama supports direct negotiations with the Iranian theocracy, opposes support for pro-Democracy Iranian groups, and advocates open lines of relation with the most corrupt members of the regime. All this works to legitimize the dictatorship.

The signature moves of Obama are to be too noble for mere politics, but the team of foreign policy security advisors that his administration looks likely to field is the constellation of advisors and policy staff that will render him just another “high-toned liberal” doomed to failure. The Obama team is composed of a combination of the young and inexperienced, a retreads of the usual suspects, characteristic of the Carter and Clinton Administrations, lofted up from poorly grounded gray matter of liberal universities and think tanks. The team members may be united bywith good intentions; but without appropriate grounding, they are likely on the road to disappointment and failure.

Among the few prominent figures are Zbigniew Brzezinski who was President Carter’s National Security Advisor and a veteran of multiple failures in Iran; Lt. General Merrill McPeak, designer of untimely Air Force retrenchment and stillborn change during the Clinton Administration; Gregory Craig, aide to Ted Kennedy and an exuberantly creative Clinton partisan who defended his President at the impeachment; and Susan Rice, the black hole of talk and inaction.

Although we are unsure whether Obama merits to be judged by the company he keeps, his advisers appear to adhere only to the obvious nave foreign policy proffered by Jimmy Carter. The Carter Administration helped bring down one our greatest allies and infiltrated modern terrorism due to its naive understanding of foreign policy.

The lack of intellectual and moral clarity about global threats and how America and the freedom seeking people of the people of Iran and other mid-east nations should respond will make them incapable of acting on the crucial deeper game.

WASHINGTON • US President George W Bush yesterday urged Americans to be proud of their country and hailed the role played by the US military in various parts of the world.

“We live in a nation founded on the power of an idea, a nation where opportunity is limited only by imagination, and a nation that has done more than any other to spread the light of liberty throughout the world,” the president said in his weekly radio address one day after the nation celebrated Independence Day.

“Today, that light shines as brightly as it did in 1776,” Bush added.

The president pointed out that today, members of the US armed forces continued the “proud tradition of defending liberty.”

“In places like Afghanistan and Iraq, many risk their lives every day to protect America and uphold the principle that human freedom is the birthright of all people and a gift from the Almighty,” he said. “These brave Americans make it possible for America to endure as a free society.”

With fireworks displays lighting the skies from coast to coast, Americans celebrated Independence Day as White House hopefuls Barack Obama and John McCain geared up yesterday for new clashes on the campaign trail.

President George W Bush spoke on Friday at a ceremony at the home of the third US president, Thomas Jefferson, in Monticello, Virginia, where 72 people became naturalised US citizens and swore an oath to their new home nation. At the start of his speech, Bush was interrupted by hecklers in the audience who screamed: “Impeach Bush!”

Bush paused and chuckled, saying: “To my fellow citizens-to-be, we believe in free speech in the United States of America.”

Turning to the event at hand, Bush highlighted the story of one newly minted US citizen, Mya Soe from Myanmar, who Bush said was harassed by the country’s military rulers for teaching “local villagers how to read and write” and “in 2000, left a life of fear for a life of freedom.”

“I’m sure there are other stories like Mya’s among you. But we must remember that the desire for freedom burns inside every man and woman and child,” Bush said.

“You represent many different ethnicities and races and religions. But you all have one thing in common-and that is a shared love of freedom,” Bush said to an audience that included natives of Afghanistan, Norway and Iraq. “This love of liberty is what binds our nation together, and this is the love that makes us all Americans,” he added

Your post at 7:16 tonight is dead on accurate. The thing is, it used to be an us vs them, Dem vs Repub..It’s isn’t that simple anymore. For the general public to wrap their heads around the size and scope of what the Clintons and we supporters are up against, in plain, simple, easily digested terms is almost impossible.

The DNC has gone Global, theres no doubt about it. The CBC is looking forward to Obama bringing Africa into the forefront of International business thereby giving every US AA a leg up on their “own” exclusive economy here in the US while our Congressional members (all millionaires) become Obama’s financial backers helping themselves to his new ‘Nation within a Nation’ Gravy Train they all expect to pluder and exploit for generations to come.

He’s changing the reality of how this country was founded. It wasn’t founded on an idea…it was founded “by the People For the People”!

If you read what I’ve written to wobbeoi… they are going to promote Bush’s revisionist history into the founding of a ‘Nation within a Nation’ thru Obama’s ties to Africa. Imagine Obama as the next president with his 10 or 15 ties to terrorists that we know of. How about when Obama unleashes his terrorists friends here on anyone who doesn’t comply with Obama’s new Global America?

  15. The US broadcast media regime, in which greedy, amoral corporations enjoy completely free monopoly licenses to run their highly profitable businesses upon the scarce public property that is the broadcast spectrum is usually presented to us as the only “natural” and sensible media order. It is, we’ve all been told, the benign and logical outcome of democratic give and take and rigorous competition in a free marketplace. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth.

The Hidden History of US Broadcasting
by BAR managing editor Bruce Dixon

Most Americans, right up to and including doctorate-level media scholars don’t know that as late as the mid 1920’s over forty percent of the more than 500 radio stations across the US were in the hands of not for profit, noncommercial broadcasters. For starters, corporations were generally slow to see the profit potential of broadcast radio. But public opinion was a much larger barrier. Most Ameicans believed that commercial broadcasting, owned and operated by greedy and amoral corporations, was inimical to the public interest, and should be balanced by an extremely strong noncommercial broadcast sector, or banned outright. NBC and CBS were founded in 1926 and 1927, and till the end of the decade, the very notion of commercial advertising on the radio remained so unpopular and abhorrent that

“Throughout the late 1920s, NBC presented itself not as a traditional for-profit corporation, but as a public service corporation that would sell advertising only as necessary to subsidize high-quality noncommercial fare…”

According to “The Battle For the US Airwaves, 1928-1935” one of 23 penetrating essays on the history and present state of media and democracy in Dr. Robert McChesney’s latest work, The Political Economy of Media. He recounts that when commercial interests undertook the seizure of the broadcast spectrum from the not for profit and noncommercial station operators, they were faced with three tasks.

    They had to oust the entrenched noncommercial and not for profit pioneers of radio broadcasting from their stations, their frequencies and their audiences;

    They had to circumvent the will of the American people, which lopsidedly favored the not for profit broadcasters and opposed corporate domination of the airwaves, and carry out their processes in a manner that avoided public scrutiny or debate;

They had to rewrite the history of broadcasting to conceal their handiwork and present it as “the American Way”, the only sensible, possible and natural outcome.

The first step in the process came in 1926, when a federal judge ruled that the Department of Commerce’s system for licensing radio broadcasters was illegal. This resulted in a few brief months of free-for-all in which the number of broadcasters radically increased again, with many stepping on each other’s frequencies. The on-the-air chaos created a shock-doctrine kind of opportunity, the ideal excuse for a new federal intervention that would radically restructure radio broadcasting in the interest of for-profit corporations.

Since public opinion overwhelmingly rejected the notion of for-profit commercial broadcasting, every round in the restructuring of radio broadcasting would have to be conducted as far outside the public view as possible. By the 1920s the traditions of corporate welfare and “regulation” through government agencies staffed with executives of the same industry that was being regulated were well entrenched. The Federal Radio Commission or FRC, established in 1926 to bring order to the airwaves, was quickly captured by a majority of off-duty broadcast execs and their sympathizers. The fix was in. Meetings and proceedings of the Federal Radio Commission were publicized selectively or not at all by newspapers, the other corporate mass media of that era.

Ignoring the pleas of congressmen and senators who wrote the Federal Radio Act to prevent the monopolization of the spectrum by commercial interests, the FRC swiftly passed rules that awarded all the choice frequencies and wattage to commercial broadcasters, mostly NBC and CBS. Noncommercial broadcasters were confined to dodgy frequencies at the edge of the dial. Chains of NBC and CBS stations were allowed to broadcast around the clock at 50,000 watts apiece, making them instant national powerhouses, while the noncommercial stations were limited to 5,000 or 1,000 watts or less and their broadcast hours limited. The licenses of not for profit broadcasters were not revoked, but they were forced to share the same frequencies and to split times with each other in a single market, making it difficult or impossible for them to generate funds from advertising, and to find or maintain their audiences. Again, according to McChesney,

“The networks were the big winners. In 1927 NBC had 28 affiliates, and CBS 16, for a combined 6.4% of the broadcast stations; within four years they accounted for 30% of the stations. And this alone vastly understates their new role, as all but three of the 40 clear channel stations were owned by or affiliated with one of the two networks… NBC and CBS accounted for nearly 70% of US broadcasting by 1931. By 1935 only four of the 62 stations that broadcast at 5,000 or more watts did not have a network affiliation…”

The sudden decline in the fortunes of not for profit and noncommercial broadcasters sparked widespread and energetic opposition that continued for several more years, but the lack of news coverage by the new lords of the broadcast spectrum, and the newspapers, who allied themselves with big broadcast media, kept this reargurad action from the public eye, and doomed it to failure. Without coverage in the mass media, the broad civic involvement that might have allowed popular sentiment against the commercialization of radio to make itself felt went unheard.

The advocates of noncommercial broadcasting were also divided. One group wanted to fund noncommercial radio with a small tax on radio receivers, in the same way that the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), and the high-quality national broadcast services of dozens of nations are financed. Another group believed that noncommercial broadcasting should be financed either by ads or more discreet “sponsorships” which would be called ads if they appeared on a commercial station.

The BBC and CBC models guaranteed a substantial revenue stream and up to a point, insulated the broadcaster both from commercial and political pressures. The “sponsorship” driven model of noncommercial broadcasting was more problematic because it forced noncommercial stations into direct competition for ad revenue with commercial stations. When the latter model won out, it made noncommercial stations even weaker compared to their for-profit counterparts. To please advertisers, they had to refrain from competing for audience share with commercial stations, and limit themselves to the kinds of material for-profit broadcasters would not touch, like what McChesney calls “elite cultural programming”. This is neatly explains how, eighty years later, you can have cases like the noncommercial station owned by the Atlanta public school system, in a city that’s been majority black city for more than a generation broadcasting nothing but NPR news and classical music 24 hours a day.

The Federal Radio Commission was a temporary measure. In 1934, Congress passed the Federal Communications Act, which created today’s Federal Communications Commission, the FCC. This legislation made its way through Congress during the same weeks as the major bills which constituted the New Deal. In the course of pushing the New Deal through Congress, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt made himself the blood enemies of almost every newspaper publisher in the nation. The president calculated that he could not afford to antagonize the all-powerful commercial broadcasters too. So the White House failed to weigh in, either before its passage with useful amendments, or afterward with mechanisms to enforce the few positive provisions of the law.

The Federal Communications Act of 1934 enshrined into statute the notions that the airwaves are scarce public property, and that broadcasters hold their licenses only on condition that they serve the public interest. But the law provides no schedules, procedures or other specific means to enforce the obligations of public service upon broadcasters. In the years since, an enormous weight of judicial precedent, administrative law and more statues have been built up which in effect recognize a license holders, not the public, as real owners of the broadcast airwaves, in stark contradiction to the provisions of the 1934 law.

To this day, more than seventy years later, no more than three successful challenges have ever been mounted to the renewal of broadcast licenses, despite scores or hundreds of attempts. And a radio or TV station licensee pays less for an extraordinarily lucrative radio or TV station license than a human citizen pays to license a used car.

    McChesney concludes that

“…whereas many other democratic nations had extensive public hearings and debates before determining the types of broadcasting systems they eventually established, in the United States, these decisions were made quietly, behind closed doors, by self-interested elites with minimal public participation.”

Competition and the “free market” had nothing to do with it. Democracy had nothing to do with it.

By 1938, its hostile takeover of the broadcast spectrum complete, Big Media was rewriting its own history, declaring its rule the only sensible outcome. McChesney recounts RCA president David Sarnoff telling a nationwide NBC audience that

“…’Our American system of broadcasting is what it is because it operates in an American democracy. It’s a free system because this is a free country.’ CBS president William S. Paley informed a group of educators in 1937 that ‘he who attacks the American system of broadcasting attacks democracy itself.’”

And thus the conventional lore of how the broadcast regime came to be has been handed down to us. In the 1980s, the Reagan administration insulated broadcasters further against public interest challenges to their licenses by lengthening the period between license renewals from three to eight years, and shortening the number of questions asked to that the renewal form could fit on a postcard. And the Clinton-Gore administration passed the Federal Communications Act of 1995, which permit almost unlimited consolidation of radio stations, cable TV networks, newspapers and broadcast TV stations nationwide and in individual markets, leading directly to the rise of Clear Channel and Radio One, among other atrocities.

It isn’t that complicated…although some like Obama and Obama do want to bring Africa into it. That was already happening with prior president but Obama view is a purely Pro Black African Nationalist and Islam.

Most Black only see the DREAM of the First Black POTUS and Obama’s Anti-Americanism is feeding the bitterness and hatred of the worst of us as a measure of control and divide. He helped [Illinois Attorney General] Lisa Madigan. . . . He helped all kinds of political figures,” Governor Blagojevich said. When told by a reporter that — unlike the governor — neither Madigan nor Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, has been questioned by federal authorities about Rezko, Blagojevich seemed to suggest the reporter might be wrong.”We don’t know that about the other people,” he said. “And let me simply say I know what I do and know how I do things. And I know I do things right.”

  18. Those of you who don’t believe in some of the conspiracy theories surrounding Obama’s rise I would like for you to answer a few questions. How is he controlling the media? How is he getting a pass on his flip/flops? How is he getting a pass on the LS story, birthcertificate, terrorists friends? How about his Muslim/atheist background? Why is no one looking into his small donations? His experience? How is he getting Hillary’s name off the ballot at the convention when that has never happened in the history of the convention? The video of him showing off his bluejeans in the airplane to his traveling press would have taken down any other candidate, why not him?

    Clinton Letter to Superdelegates
    Hillary Clinton

(Note: the following is the text of a letter sent by Hillary Clinton yesterday to all Democratic super delegates.)

    Dear ___________,

The stakes in this election are so high: with two wars abroad, our economy in crisis here at home, and so many families struggling across America, the need for new leadership has never been greater.

At this point, we do not yet have a nominee – and when the last votes are cast on June 3, neither Senator Obama nor I will have secured the nomination. It will be up to automatic delegates like you to help choose our party’s nominee, and I would like to tell you why I believe I am the stronger candidate against Senator McCain and would be the best President and Commander in Chief.

Voters in every state have made it clear that they want to be heard and counted as part of this historic race. And as we reach the end of the primary season, more than 17 million people have supported me in my effort to become the Democratic nominee – more people than have ever voted for a potential nominee in the history of our party. In the past two weeks alone, record numbers of voters participated in the West Virginia and Kentucky primaries. And with 40 and 35 point margins of victory, it is clear that even when voters are repeatedly told this race is over, they’re not giving up on me – and I am not giving up on them either.

“Call him slippery or nuanced, Barack Obama’s core position on Iraq has always been more ambiguous than audacious. Now it is catching up with him, as his latest remarks are questioned by the Republicans, the mainstream media and the antiwar movement. He could put his candidacy at risk if his audacity continues to shrivel….”

  25. Obama in Berlin?

Der Spiegel is reporting that Obama may give a speech in front of the Brandenburg Gate — which would, of course, lead to another round of articles wondering if Obama is the “liberal Reagan.”

A member of Obama’s campaign has already met with Berlin’s mayor, Klaus Wowereit, and the Secret Service has reportedly started to investigate security questions surrounding a visit.

No location has been announced, but the Berlin Senate has reportedly been asked whether Obama can speak in front of the Brandenburg Gate, where former US President Ronald Reagan gave a famous speech in 1987. Reagan made a show of asking then-Soviet premier Mikhail Gorbachev to “tear down” the Berlin Wall

  26. What does Code Pink say about Obama’s fiip/flop on Iraq? I haven’t seen anything about what they are saying. They gave Hillary a hard time. They are also going to demonstrate at the convention. I think the Ruckus Society is helping them.

  27. FOX has a Code Pink women on the other night and i was only half listening…this was before the flim-flam-flipper-phony did his pirouette on Iraq….

but I tell ya, those women are WAAAAAYYYYY out there, and NOT someone I would want to have dinner with!

I believe they were talking about Denver.

    interesting Ann Coulter segment
The middle is a bit “Ann”

    But the start is interesting

and the line to the effect McCain has voted for everything Conservatives attack Hillary for”
(another good reason to support McCain, one thinks)

UNTIL you get to the 5 minute mark then she makes a very interesting claim

Also, I shut off the comment on my video, they had become DEEPLY personal and very rude. There were a few references mad to Hillaryis44 which CLEARLY indicated “monitors” had seen the post.

It’s amazing to me that they HATE the US Government for spying, but they do EXACTLY THE SAME THINK and try and prevent free speech and dissent. They really are brownshirts, if only they had any historical context to know about what that meant.

  30. norma, I have been looking at the website “whitehouse for sale” and there you can find all the bundlers for the candidates. So I have been looking up Bambi’s. I have quiet a few that have been temporarily erased. Would you have been able to figure that! ha! Ha! There is alot of lawyers connected to middle eastern businesses and a construction company from Missouri that has done alot of business with Chicago lately. Pretty fishy stuff! Old Claire has been busy sucking up to Obama to get contracts for Clayco. I wonder if they are interested in building for the 2012 Olympics in Chicago???

  31. Also, a pretty weird little video on Soros Modus Operendi

Listen in particular with the bit about bringing down businesses and reopening them with his own paid trolls…., ooops, I mean “workers” (at 2:44 mins)

sounds frighteningly akin to the bots

and since the DNC is a business, the model for tearing it down and rebuilding it in his own image is certainly doable. But what REALLY disturbs me about all this is that it seems that there are ENOUGH Politicians and others in this country who WILL sell America down the River, our values, our Constitution, our Republic for their own personal advantage.

The framers were never sure this would maintain. Perhaps it is no longer in the interest of the big corporations to have tings like personal freedoms stand in their way.

Be afraid. This shit is for real, and we are watching it right from the front row.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPjESHaIlwI&NR=1

  32. This has probably been said but I haven’t been on here for days while I was burglarized and defrauded and injured last week.

For those of you who haven’t seen “The Best Man” with Henry Fonda and Cliff Robertson written by Gore Vidal or haven’t seen it in years, it’s on cable and probably available in stores. It was written in the 60s and it’s all about Obama. Fonda says that Robertson has no principles, he will say or do anything that will get him elected. The great line is delivered by the former president who is introducing all the candidates (it’s the primary) and one of them is some minority. The prez says “we always thought a Catholic couldn’t get elected but he has and one day we’ll elect a Jew and a Black and when we have gone through ALL THE MINORITIES, WE’LL GET AROUND TO THE LADIES (hahaha).”

That’s close to a quote but I suggest that you watch it and be amazed at the Robertson/Obama character.

  33. Confloyd, there is nothing that will surprise me. Have you passed that info and links along to B Merry at Rezkowatch now called the real barack obama?

    http://www.therealbarackobama.wordpress.com

B Merry is working on some VERY interesting stuff with Obama and MORE shady real estate transactions. I swear, this guy is UP TO HIS ASS in corruption and the bots just WON’T see it. I wonder what they are being paid to help destroy the United States.

  34. freckles…”I was burglarized and defrauded and injured last week.”

    Good Lord. Are you alright?

  35. Obama throws Big Media under the bus

    news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080706/ap_on_el_pr/obama

after he tried to blame McCain for his comments on Iraq the other day, I guess this is second attempt at not taking responsibility for his own words…

I thought “Just Words?” meant they actuall MEANT something when you use them.

  36. On another note, I am very tired of being dubbed a “Hillary supporter” as if it were a cult or a woman thing. I thought Hillary was the best candidate of them all on both sides, and Rudy Giuliani and Barack Obama brought up the rear. I know that Hillary won the primaries and that she should be the candidate.
I am not motivated by revenge or hurt feelings. Hillary is still the best and Obamais a bad risk that I don’t agree with or trust.

I am also tired of Eleanor Clift who says things like we need a leader to get us out of our mess and that’s Obama. What has he ever led? What leadership qualities has he got? Then she says that Michele is OK and like Hillary except that Michele is not personally ambitious as Hillary was. Ho9w she know this I have no idea, but if Hillary was personally ambitious, would she have left Illinois and Washington to go live in Arkansas with a man not yet elected DA?

Hillary won and if Obama shifts on one more principle, she might still get the nomination. If not, I don’t envisage the “undecideds” breaking for Obama.

  37. That whole article really reflects that his base IS shrinking…there are MANY references to the “All Black” and “MOSTLY Black crowds”and his Southern Voting strategy for the GE is because of the large AA Population in the Souther States.

but here is something annoying, and conjures up an image of a hold-up

Two events are scheduled for Wednesday night — one for his campaign and one to help Clinton pay off debts from her primary race against him. A third, for Obama, is a cash-collecting breakfast Thursday morning with women.

    CASH COLLECTING?

It will also be interesting to se how much money is raised for HIM at these events prior to the “cash Collecting” and how much Hillary gets for her debt relief.

  38. Norma

I have no money in my accounts, I can’t pay the rent, and I cracked my ribs when my chair collapsed in the shower. Breathing is tough, I’m living on Aleve and I have no bank cards or a driver’s license.
I figure I’ll wake up, the bank will give me back a bit of money and Hillary will be our nomiinee.

    Thanks for asking.

  39. So, what is wrong with being personally ambitious? It is okay for a man, but not a woman. Eleanor Clift needs a refresher on human and women rights. What a ding-dong thing to say. Hillary was crazy about Bill, so she went to Arkansas to be with him.

BHO has never demonstrated the qualities of leadership required to lead this country out of the mess that it is in. What has he ever led? What are his core values? His flip-floppin-flim-flamin ways make McCain look stable. Who is BHO? The DNC is selling this country down the river.

  40. Freckles, they have transferred thei own hatred for Hillay over to US

and If I were a real PROGRESSIVE as the Bots claim to be, MY HEAD WOULD DO A 360 if ELEANOR CLIFT is endorsing Obama!

THAT alone tells you he IS NOT a real Democrat NOR a Progressive, but a Republican in Sheeps Clothing. BIG TIME.

And hey, all yo typical trolls, GO LOOK UP ELEANOR CLIFT and her past endorsements and positions.

Bambi is in GOOD Company…if you like George Bush

  41. Frieckles-the one and only time I ever saw Eleanor Cliff in person was at the Capital Hyatt. She walked past me in a daze, was dressed in business attire, with tennis shoes that did not match. My first thought was that is that is the Eleanor Cliff I know. My second thought was there goes a blind woman in a dark room looking for a black cat that is not there. And so goes her policitical analysis/

  44. Clift lost a great deal of Cred with me when she blamed BC for injecting race in South Carolina. She is just another paid shill. She had NO loyalty to the Clintons after years of service and FRIENDSHIP AND LOYALTY from Hillary.

There was a F’ING MEMO FROM THE OBAMA CAMP that PLANNED TO INJECT RACE and EVERYONE ignors that.

Another “Free Pass” on the Hopium Express

  45. norma, after reading and watching allday, I think I can say Soros bought himself a President and Obama doesn’t care bc he is only interested in becoming the first black president. He wants to go down in History as the first black president. I wonder if he has thought how it will be if he is the first failed black president. Soros wants the North American Union and uses the European Union as a pattern for this one. He hates America and wants to bring it down! Obama is dumb enough to let him!

  46. Oh yes, The Carlisle Groups has bundled 250,000 for Bambi!! So now we know for sure the Republicans are pushing him in, although I don’t know how Soros fits into this. Its the Combine!

  47. The Money quote from SONIA’S Article

“Today, as liberals, as Democrats, and as progressive voters, we must acknowledge with humility that what we stand for no longer resonates with a sizeable chunk of voting Americans.”

THIS Is the type of comment that makes the REPUBLICANS JUMP WITH JOY. They have ALWAYS said the Democrats have NO CORE CONVICTION and here Ms. Brazile just confirmed their beliefs.

Say what you will about the republicans, but they WIN ELECTIONS because they HAVE A MESSAGE American’s want to hear. Also, they close ranks and do not exclude IN PRINCIPLE anyone, nor catagorize them into segments who are at dispirit resulta. They may not PRACTICE their “Big Tent” but their CORE MESSAGE is the SAME, SAME, SAME. They stand on principle and for making business grow and to make government smaller. THAT is one reason even THEY cannot stand Bush any longer. But Dear Donna…you just gave Rush a week’s worth of commentary! Well DONE!

  48. Well Confloyd, if Ann Coulter is to be believed, Soros picked both McCain and Obama…so we are fucked either way. The Carlyle Group will benefit from ANY President but their bundling is not something I want to hear.

Also, about Obama “not knowing” or being “dumb enough”…he knows EXACTLY what he is doing, or, is having done FOR HIM at the expense of Democracy. He has NO LOYALTY to this Country. HE never grew up with the values and the heritage and the history of this place. He is EGO MANIACAL enought to believe his own hype now and green enough to be manipulated. He wants the pay off and American AA’s are gonna get screwed, as are all the Hopium smokers, as are we all.

I wonder what they will say when they learn that Bush’s Daddy and the man that helped steal 2000, James Baker are backing their messiah?

Do you have a link of proof?

  49. Soros’ loyalty is not to a party, it is to an ideal and to his wallet. He believes Democratic Principles have failed, and are failing, and he is here to save us from ourselves. he more I read about him, the more it is obvious Obama is the perfect choice for his escapades.

Pack your bags and be ready to bail….if they even let you have a passport.

Again, WHO can suppress stuff like VALID BIRTH CERTIFICATES, controll the press, make having a terrorist best friend and a foul-mouthed preacher and a land deal that stinks with a CONVICTED FELON by a PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

    JUST VANISH?

    Hi guys-
As you may know, we are rolling out a 50 state local grassroots initiative on Wednesday (Hear about it this Sunday on PUMA radio).
Our mission is to inform and educate one local community at a time!
To join us–go to our website http://www.RealDemocratsUSA.org (sorry just a placeholder as we are building new site)
or send us an email by state (for example: Californians would use CA@RealDemocratsUSA.org; Pennsylvanians will use PA@RealDemocratsUSA.org)

Please give your name, city, state, zip, email and telephone. Within a few days we will contact you as we organize local groups in your area.
Need more info? Email me at spabeles@patriot.net

    >>>>> they are looking for any and all help

please contact them …this is how we will beat BHO!!!

  51. Debbie, I know this group

they are working with a lot of our groups too
and PUMA and JSND and ours, 18MillionVoices

We are trying to get them to coalesce with 18mil as we have that on the ground ALREADY. But we are all doing good work. Join up with SOMEONE and ORGANIZE

  52. Norma, agree wholeheartedly….I think that is the only way this will work if all the groups join and bundle resources and people power…..

there are many ideas and methods but the common goal is to defeat BHO, oust the DNC leadership, and take back the democratic party

I will work for all of them

  53. norma, I know you went off, but I did read that Soros is backing both. Soros has been hooked up with McCain since 06′. So, WTF, are we to do. I just can’t stop looking into all of this. If I can find it (incompetent at computers) what the hell is the media doing?? He has so many ties to the middle east in his bundlers is scary!

  54. That fucking cnn. They are so damn corrupt.

ok what is it this time?

When Hillary endorses Bambi asks and asks us to say to support him and we say we will remain free thinkers what does how does cnn characterize it?

They say we are unwilling to follow her lead.

    So?

The issue is not whether we will follow Hillarys lead. The issue is whether we will ratify a corrupt process by supporting him.

This has nothing to do with following her lead.

Their choice of words is intended to diminish her.

So I say again fuck cnn. They are crooked.

    Notice their new meme.

McCain stuggles staff shakeup no message (vs.)(negative story)

    Bambi is looking presidential.
    (pure puff piece)

    Sound familar?????

  55. Here is the person who will really be the President when either Obama or McCain takes office and here is his agenda!

NEW YORK—Building on a ten year commitment of more than $800 million to advance democracy and progressive reform in the United States, the Open Society Institute today launched groundbreaking new initiatives. Under the leadership of Ann Beeson, a widely respected human rights advocate and Supreme Court litigator, U.S. Programs will devote $75 million annually to promote equality, ensure transparency in government, and reform criminal justice and national security policies.

“Too many Americans are straitjacketed from full participation in our democracy,” said Beeson, director of U.S. Programs. “With these new initiatives, OSI will build the collective power of individuals and organizations to develop and demand solutions to advance open society in the United States.”

U.S. Programs charted this path after identifying new challenges in the changing social and political climate. Beeson has assembled a dynamic team of experts and activists to lead the new programs.

Leonard Noisette, director of the Criminal Justice Fund, will work to improve the administration of justice and decrease the country’s over-reliance on mass incarceration and increasingly harsh punishment.
Raquiba LaBrie, director of the Equality and Opportunity Fund, will manage programs to support communities of color, immigrants, women, and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.
William Vandenberg, director of the Democracy and Power Fund, will oversee efforts to engage and mobilize youth and communities of color to work across a range of progressive issues.
In addition, U.S. Programs is seeking a director to head the Transparency and Integrity Fund which aims to restore credibility to key government agencies, revitalize congressional oversight, and increase the military’s accountability.

U.S. Programs is also launching special initiatives that will provide expanded resources on two urgent issues. Shawn Dove will lead efforts to confront the stigmatization, criminalization, and exclusion of African American men and boys from the economic and political mainstream. Nancy Chang will oversee work to challenge U.S. national security policies on torture, surveillance, arbitrary detention, and racial profiling.

“In shaping these programs, we have tried to capture the sense of urgency and optimism that our grantees bring to today’s formidable challenges,” said Beeson. “U.S. Programs will use its resources to ensure that democracy can flourish and that everyone in this country can participate fully and equally in society.”

To learn more, please visit http://www.soros.org/initiatives/usprograms.

The Open Society Institute, a private operating and grantmaking foundation, works to build vibrant and tolerant democracies whose governments are accountable to their citizens. To achieve its mission, OSI seeks to shape public policies that assure greater fairness in political, legal, and economic systems and safeguard fundamental rights. OSI works in over 60 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East, as well as in the United States.

  56. Let me try it another way. Barack Obama the presumptive nominee to some, president elect in his won mind, is having a difficult time securing support of the traditional democratic base since he has gone out of his way to insult and antagonize it in every way possible and what he has not done himself his big media partnerss surely have. The resulting failure of those voter t fall behind him has nothing to do with Hillary’s leadership (as cnn has suggested) but has everything to do with a profound failure of leadership on his part.

  57. The Carlysle Group bundled $250,000 for Obama and did nothing for John McCain! Whats up with that??

  58. Does anyone know how to find out what bank in Hawaii Obama’s grandma was vice president in??

  59. If you look back at what happened a generation ago in the democratic party you will get a better sense of what is happening now. In 1968 we had the war, the protest movement and party elders who were determined to shut off dissent and nominate a candidate who did not have the support of the American people. The result was a meltdown at the Chicago Convention and the Daley Machine cracked heads.

Today similar dynamics are in play. After Bambi won a succession of red states which boy wonder Mark Penn never made provision for in his path to victory strategy party elders guided by the Dean Plan (nominee to be decided 8 months prior to the GE) secretly selected Bambi as the nominee. This was done prior to the Pennsylvania primary because as you may recall that was the time frame that Bambi was telling Hillary supporters to go easy on him because he was the nominee. Ted Kennedy and his cabal (Kerry, Leahe, Dodd) had declared their support for Bambi and they demanded Hillary leave the race for the good of the party. They blocked efforts to resolve Michigan and Florida and when they finally did they diluted her victory and granted Bambi votes he never earned to protect his margin. Nevertheless, she won the popular vote, and the key electoral states and made a compelling case that she was the most electable. Superdelegates who were supposed to not declare until the convention and were supposed to choose the most electable candidate were bribed and/or threatened to deny her the nomination. They used phony math to declare him the winner–by counting superdelegates in the total even though they could not vote until the convention. They bribe superdelegates in ways that the law does not reach. They forced her to suspend her campaign and endorse him, They force her out on the campaign trail to campaign trail to do his bidding and when she does so she is booed by his supporters. He preached unity but told her supporters to get over it and he is too busy to meet with them. And they tell us her name will not even be placed on the ballot and the convention will be placed in lock down, while protestors make plans to come to the convention and make their voices heard. And throughout this death of a thousand cuts the media has disgraced itself by its blatant racist and sexist appeals, and given promoted the bambi brand to the public at ever turn.

They are taking our democracy away from us. They are giving it to the global capitalists we have been talking about. And they call us delusional, sore losers and worse. Fuckem. We need to get the word out on Obama. Bambi cannot be trusted. Nor can we trust the party elites who broke their own rules to put him there. It is 1968 all over again and we shall see what comes of it.

  60. G’morning, wbboei,

I was too young to be paying attention to the ’68 Democratic Convention. Of course, I’ve read about it but i would LOVE your take on what happened.

  61. I entered the Naval Academy that year so I was otherwise occupied. However, I have a friend who was there. She tells me there was alot of confusion, and like so many other protest movements of the 60s most participants did not understand the inside game that was going on at the time but were simply present and pulled along by the momentum of events as each side overreacted to the other.

Robert Kennedy was the popular candidate that year. He led in the popular vote at the time of the Sirhan Sirhan assassination at the Amabassador Hotel on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. That left Eugene McCarthy who had a significant following in the anti-war movement. But the party elders wanted Hubert Humphey who was a party stalward, head of the Farm Labor Party in Minnesota and Vice President of the United States–the logical successor to Johnson as if there is antthing logical the Democrats do. So the party elders forced Hube the Cube down the throats of the party and the activists. That was the causus belli and it went down hill fast after that.

Over a year ago we had a blogger on this site who was there at the convention and we conversed about it at some length in response to my inquiry. He left late last year after his wife died and has not returned to my knowledge unless it is under a different name. I wish he was back Basil because he could fill you in since he was an eye witness and well enough connected I sense that he was inside the gate.

  62. Good Morning all

Wbboei: I have a cousin who has long since vanished from my life (as ALL our relations have wont do do since childhood) and she was a Smith grad and was in Chicago in 68. She lived there. She was also beaten to a pulp. It was horrible. I wish i knew HOW to find her (and other family members) but it s not to be. The blood ties in my genes never gelled that well…ashame.

Anyway, I saw a great campaign to the DNC on http://www.hillarysupporters.com. Look for the Penny Campaign, download and read the form. And TAKE ACTIION.

  63. My STILL FAVORITE QUOTE OF THE WEEK!

“Today, as liberals, as Democrats, and as progressive voters, we must acknowledge with humility that what we stand for no longer resonates with a sizeable chunk of voting Americans.” – Donna Brazile

    http://www.slate.com/id/2109328

    no shit

  64. What humility?

I’m not sure that I want to waste a 42 cent stamp + 1 penny to mail that form to the DNC.

  65. Congress is like every other organization in the sense that each of its members fall somewhere on the bell curve in terms of leadership and statesmanship. At one end of the spectrum you find ethically challenged people like Wexler (turn down your hearing aid), upstart pigs like McCaskill, and world class incompetents like Pelosi. At the other end of the spectrum you have some of the finest leaders in our country in whom I find great inspiration. Hillary comes first to mind, but if you look at the people who supported her you find others who would never sell out the American People for money, higher position or anything else. If I mentioned their names out loud they would probably go on bambis black list but we know who they are. Those people have consciences and I would be surprised if they are not mulling over the putshe that is being perpetrated here, much as we are. What the bad guys did here is fundamentally wrong and the sequence of events I tried to summarize upthread proves it. If this were just another election it would not be so serious. But this one has a make or break quality to it. If Bambi wins the ultimate loser will be the American People. Whether they realize that now or 10 years from now I cannot say for sure. What I can say is we have got to get the word out to ensure that wisdom comes sooner not later.

Norma/Basil: if we can find a few of those people who were there it might be interesting to let them tell their stories. Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. I will ask my friend.

  66. “Today, as liberals, as Democrats, and as progressive voters, we must acknowledge with humility that what we stand for no longer resonates with a sizeable chunk of voting Americans.” – Donna Brazile
    ——————————————————————-
That is correct if you mean lying cheating stealing and oh yes bambi. In that case donna is right. But even a broken clock is right–twice a day, so we must not read too much into it.

The statement itself is pure gibberish. What exactly is it that no longer resonates. She does not say. That is too Orwellian for me.

  67. What do Democrats and progressives stand for in the new democratic party? What are the new values? Certainly, the old values have been thrown out. Are the new ones, lying and cheating and bamboozling? I don’t know, what BHO stands for. His flip-floppin-flim-flammer ways are indicative of the lack of core values.

  68. wbboei, norma,
Thanks for the info. I agree it would be FASCINATING if people who witnessed the ’68 debacle shared their stories with us.

Birdgal: my guess is it will not start from the premise of we the people but rather the premise in order to save the planet. It will not be the concept of the American citizen but citizen of the world. And it will treat the middle class as an artifact of history. It will use the Michael Dell concept that nations who are part of the same supply chain cannot make war. It will politicitize all aspects of life. And it will abandon the entitlement programs like social security. The ultimate aim will be to inculacate people in a new secular, multi-cultralist religion. It will stress the welfare of the people, which as Camus said has always been the alibi of tyrants. Paddy4Hill had some good insights on this a few months back which talked about the neo lib.

What country in the world has any morals left – and is becoming a haven for expatriats? I ask this question in all sincerity. Trying to plan my next three-week vacation, so really would appreciate any and all insight into a true place where corruption is at a minimum.

Any others of you with any knowledge about such a place would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    WANTS INTO FAMILY BIZ

DEAL OR NO DEAL: Barack Obama, on the campaign trail with Caroline Kennedy, put her on his veep-search team as part of a deal after getting Ted Kennedy’s endorsement.

It’s “her time” to get into the family business.

Caroline Kennedy’s high-profile appointment to Barack Obama’s vice-presidential search team was orchestrated in a deal brokered by her famous uncle, Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy, in exchange for his endorsement, The Post has learned.

It was the result of Caroline, a 50-year-old Harvard grad, indicating to her now-ailing uncle that it was “her time” to get into politics, insiders told The Post.

JFK’s daughter is looking to get her feet wet in political affairs, sources said, including the possibility she could one day run for office in some capacity or accept a position within an Obama administration.

“Caroline was part of the deal” for Ted’s surprise backing of Obama, an immediate family member said.

Ted stunned many long-time Democrats when he threw his support behind Obama over Hillary Rodham Clinton in January during a critical moment in the heated primary race.

Caroline had already broken her long-held silence on political issues and penned an elegant, first-person explanation of her endorsement of Obama in which she said he could be “a president like my father.”

The former first daughter has famously avoided the political limelight since the days of riding Macaroni, her pet pony, around the White House lawn.

Living quietly in New York for most of the past several decades, she has raised three children (the youngest is 15), edited updated versions of her father’s 1950s best-seller “Profiles in Courage” and other books, and worked behind the scenes as a public-school advocate.

Obama’s announcement in June that Caroline would be on his three-person vice-presidential search team was unexpected, even though she had campaigned for him in the past.

Once Caroline signaled her intent to learn the ropes of the family business, she had the full support of her uncle, sources said.

Some have speculated that Ted would tap her to succeed him in his Senate seat if he decided to retire in the near future. The 76-year-old senator was briefly hospitalized in May after a round of seizures and has since undergone surgery for a brain tumor.

Asked if Caroline was being discussed as a possible successor to her uncle, a family member responded, “No comment!”

Although she has lived on the Upper East Side most of her adult life, her real-estate holdings include late mom Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’ sprawling estate on Martha’s Vineyard, and Caroline has enduring family ties in Massachusetts.

    gotis@nypost.com

  72. So if Hillary would’ve offered something to Teddy he would’ve given her his endorsement? Pathetic.

  73. I would hope, that the citizens of MA would choose not to maintain the Kennedy dynasty. I thought, Ted wanted his wife to “inherit” his senate seat. I guess, the Kennedy name is qualification enough. Forget the people, who have worked hard for years, and have some accomplishments under his/her belt. Next thing, we’ll hear, Caroline challenging Hillary for her NY senate seat.

    Sam Stein, June 30.

Black Republicans Launch Racial Anti-Obama Ads

The National Black Republican Association has launched the most personalized attacks of the presidential campaign to date, accusing

Barack Obama of being an “arrogant elitist,” and raising his connections to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers and Tony Rezko.

The Black Republican Association Ad really caused a stink over at Obamapost. I was LMAO over there because the ad was very, very effective especially the part that mentioned Martin Luther King was a Republican.

They need to keep hammering this fact and the fact that the repubs have a proud history of civil rights themselves and that the Republicans didn’t elect a KKK as president like the Democrats.

That’s why the Democrats shouldn’t have made race a campaign issue like they are immune from it themselves.

Like I said before, Americans don’t HATE Republicans they just hate the Bush/Cheney administration and considers it a major disappointment in everything they dislike. Greed/Hubris/Cronyism/extremism/Corruption/Incompetence/The Ugly Americanism….

That sounds like part of Bill Clinton’s approach in the 90s: “Globalization”, “Third Way”. I tend to agree that you don’t bomb good customers (or your good vendors). Don’t see Bill 1996 counting the middle class out of his globalization though. And saving the planet sounds like Gore, bless him.

    Are you on?

    Re your ‘bread crumb’ remark

I don’t know. But I feel hopeful when I think about the 2 recent series on PBS- America’s Investigative Reorts (or something like that, AKA “AIR”) and another called “Expose.” .

I think both had connections to the Center for Investigative Reporting.

Google i*nvestigative reporting pbs series.*..there is a ton ofstuff there…the Center sounds like a good place to drop some crumbs.

Your observations about the bottom line considerations were always a part of the series’ episodes: in the end the recipe for success was allways the dogged reporter(s) plus a staunch supportive editor at usually an independently owned newspaper that was beloved by its community- and the story was USUALLY connected to the community, somehow.

    Pretty stiff odds Bud…but feasible.

That is correct if you mean lying cheating stealing and oh yes bambi. In that case donna is right.

I don’t know what Donna means but you could make a case for Obama and his people changing the basic ethic of winning office. The key quotes are in the Chi Trib profile “Using his bare knuckles” linked from http://www.ironmyvote.com/index.html#obamabackground

When criticized for knocking all his opponents off the ballot including his mentor Alice Palmer, Obama said something like “If you can win, you should win, and get busy doing the peoplel’s business.” No matter what the voters would think (Palmer was a popular incumbent and would have been easily re-elected). His idea of ‘the people’ seems to be his street gangs, who can only win by running unopposed, usinig caucuses, disallowing revotes, gaming the rules — and now preventing the traditional vote at the convention!

And he’s got people defending this new definition of winning, such as Taylor Marsh! It’s as though people praised Tonya Harding for catching her opponent outside the competitive rink and smashing her kneecap!

When Hillary endorses Bambi asks and asks us to say to support him and we say we will remain free thinkers what does how does cnn characterize it?
They say we are unwilling to follow her lead.
    ====================================

The analysist stories I saw about thier polls in June and on Jy 4 were ridiculously slanted. Iirc the first one at least had a link to a pdf of the actual data, but I haven’t found real detail on the Jy 4 poll. It said support for McCain had ‘decreased’ but gave no figures. Knowing them, it could be a fraction of a point.

It suggested that Hillaristas who in June were planning to vote for McCain had now decided not to vote at all, which suggests cooling off (although they admit the number or percent planning NOT to vote for Obama has increased a lot: from 39% to 46% iirc.

As someone at NQ pointed out, many people who were registered Democrats in June have since then torn up their Dem cards and registered as someone else, and joined McCain’s web groups.

  83. Emjay: another friend of mine is trying to work that angle too. It could be a wonderful opportunity for a talented investigative journalist to make a name for themselves, for clearly something is wrotten here. Seems like you and I had a conversation a year back or so about Japanese art and the economy of the lines. Good investigative journalism sheds light on things-like Brandeis old saying electric light is the best policeman fresh air the best disinfectant the power of disclosure. And the real beauty of it is that in its quest for the truth the failure rate is very high because the standards it insists on are far higher than the morals of the marketplace. What that means is that innocent people are less likey to be accused and have their reputations ruined and the story which is published can be relied on.

  84. Awful quiet here for a sunday morning. All the bullshit talk shows and nothing of substance to report I guess. I do not watch them myself anymore. I am tired of being lied to,

    Paid Pundits Pervert Puma Polls
I want to focus on something Cannonfire said today – and I agree with – and stated a while ago. The Puma movement is growing, not shrinking, according to the latest CNN poll. This has little to do with Clinton and everything to do with Obama. The Obama apologist pundits still don’t get that basic fact.

More Clinton voters are refusing to vote for Obama now than a month ago. The opposite should be true. A weird allusion to Elisabeth Kubler-Ross’s 5 stages of dying was made on CNN – as if ex-Democratic Obama Refuseniks are grappling with a “death.”

    We are not.

The ongoing dip in Obama’s PUMA numbers is not about Hillary. It’s about Obama, stupid.

The closer we look at Obama the less palatable he is. Conversely, and speaking for myself only, the closer I look at McCain the less he seems to be the big GOP Monster that ninnies like Taylor March make him out to be. The only thing I know for sure about my vote is who is NOT getting it.

The past month has shown us that Obama is not a healer. (All he had to do was acknowledge and apologize for the blatant and obvious sexism. Imagine the difference that would have made in early June.)

He is less trustworthy now than he was even 2 weeks ago. He doesn’t not even agree with himself half the time. Why would anyone trust him more now – after no less than 6 major flip flops: Jerusalem, FISA, campaign finance, Iraq, gun control, abortion rights for the mentally ill.

    ???

At any rate, since it is about Obama, not Clinton let’s look at the 5 stages of dying:

DENIAL: This is what many Pods have been in for months.

ANGER: No less than 16,000 on Obama’s campaign blog are expressing their anger at BHO’s FISA flip flop.

BARGAINING: Pods like the Cheetos Blog’s Ducky are in the throws of it. “I’ll still vote for him but I won’t give him any money! So there!”

DEPRESSION: This can be seen in comments everywhere. “Gee, I want to love him again – but I can’t!” and the laughable: “I thought he had integrity.” etc etc.

ACCEPTANCE: This is the slow, steady realization among the pods that Obama is just another politician – a phrase they are trying to normalize in their own psyches by repeating it in comment posts across the landscape. It’s a bitter pill. The one thing they believed he was not was “another politician.”

The “death” we are watching – and the pundits refuse to ackowledge – is the end of “Obama the Messiah”.

PUMAs are not going through these “stages”. Pods are. PUMAs are merely saying the same things they’ve said all along. Obama, now unfettered, is proving them correct

  89. As for ‘stages of grief’ — at least 3 million of us long ago ‘accepted’ that HIllary probably won’t be the nominee and have ‘accepted’ McCain as second choice!

  90. I forgot to say, we’ve also got to a later stage: as Froma Harrop said, the worst thing for Obama’s campaign is that the [PUMA] women are starting to have a good time!

  91. Okay folks, have I irritated you all, cause the stuff I am submitting isn’t getting posted!!

  96. admin, one of Obama’s bundlers is a guy named Kennard, he is with the Carlyle group. He also was a bank president in Honolulu in the 60’s, so I am searching for the name of Grannie’s bank job!

  97. This bundler has raised 200,000 for him, and I thought it was strange that he now works for Carlyle in the telecommunications dept. and he used to work for a bank in Honolulu in the late 60’s.

  98. Well here it is, just like I think the Republicans have pulled off the greatest hoax in political history.

I know what you’re saying 1950democrat, but myself I still expect Hillary to become the official nominee in August.

  100. Confloyd: It sounds like, the details are being worked out, regarding Senator Clinton’s role at the convention. If her name is not on the ballot, this will anger and energize the PUMAs even further. I trust the information on Heidi’s blog.

  102. Personally, I think the bambi, dnc and the kennedy cabl are between a rock and a hard place on what to do with Hillary at the Convention. If they do not have an open convention, put her name on the ballot and call for a roll call vote they are making a huge mistake but if they do there is no telling what will happen. If they do not give her prime time opportunity to speak they are making a huge mistake but if they do how can they be sure what they will say. And if they deny her these opportunites which she has rightfully earned by winning the majority of the popular vote what incentive does Bill have to go out and speak to the people bambi cannot connect with. And what the hell will happen with all those protestors out there, and how will all that make bambi look especially if half of them are carrying george soros signs. I could probably raise twenty more things that bambi could worry about but why give the enemy your playbook. And dont think the Republicans wont have something cooked up here too. So as I say the bambi brigade is between a rock and a hard place. Right where they belong.

One other thing. Enough of his minions telling us we should vote for bambi because his positions on isssues is closer to Hillarys than McCains are. First, who knows what his position is now or what it will be five minutes from now. The only thing you can be sure of is it wont be the same. So how do we know he is closer to Hillary. When the moment of decision arises he may be sitting somewhere to the right of Genghis Kan. Second, what evidence is there that he can deliver what he promises. His track record is long as a whores dream and bare as a goats ass, to quote a former colleage of mine. Third, did anyone really believe Whimpy when he told Popeye I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today. Obviously Popeye didnt and neither should we. When Bambis bids us to vote for him today because he will do x for us tomorrow, we are at his mercy. If he is a person character the answer is yes, but if is a dare I say i waffler the answer if no. It is a question of character; Hillary and McCain have it. Bambi does not. East is east and west is west and ne’r the twain shall meet.

  103. I just finished watching Iron Jawed Angels, and I will never, ever give up my vote. Women were beatened, threatened, ridiculed, imprisoned, force fed, abused, treated with condescension, called insane, during the fight for the women’s right to vote. This is a big, big deal, that we take for granted today, but 88 years ago, women could not vote and were treated as chattel.

This election brings their fight to the forefront. Hillary took most of the blows for us, but Hillary supporters, both men and women, have been treated with derision, scorn, distain, and abused. I will not forget this. I will vote, even, if it is a protest vote, but I will vote. Alice Paul and the other suffragettes would not have it any other way. What they went throught, brought tears to my eyes and I was filled with anger for the way, that they were treated like common criminals.

A doctor in the film said, “Courage in women, is often mistaken for insanity.”

Everyone should see that film. I found it, at my local video store.

We like this one. To amplify its message that opting out of public financing was necessary to combat the onslaught of outside 527 ad spending that’s likely to hit Obama in the months ahead, the Obama campaign has turned to the perfect messenger: John Kerry.

On a conference call with reporters moments ago, Kerry insisted that the decision was necessary if Obama is to avoid succumbing under a barrage of such spending, as he did.

“You know, the Swift Boat Veterans For Truth hadn’t appeared in July of my year as a funded group,” Kerry said. “And they were funded in August, which was the time I was tied to campaign finance reform and didn’t have the money to respond. And it had an obvious, profound impact. So I think in order to control your campaign and your message, it is essential to be able to respond to those and be free to respond to them.”

Kerry’s fate at the hands of the Swift Boat Vets, of course, continues to haunt Dems. So he’s just the person to make this case and to make John McCain’s refusal to forcefully rein in the outside groups on his side look that much more ominous.

Why are Democratic states called “blue states” and Republican states “red states”?

This mystery is worthy of another “National Treasure” movie. In fact, if you look closely at the face side of a $20 bill, the eagle on the left is blue and the number “20” in the lower right corner is red. A-ha!

OK, enough “hue”y. In fact, all language sleuths agree on one thing: The current color scheme grew out of election maps used by TV networks during the 2000 election.

Washington Post staff writer Paul Farhi claims the first use of the terms “red states” and “blue states” emerged just before the 2000 election on NBC’s “Today Show” when the late Tim Russert pointed to a map provided by MSNBC and asked, “So how does [Bush] get those remaining 61 electoral red states?”

But Grant Barrett, editor of “Hatchet Jobs & Hardball: The Oxford Dictionary of American Political Slang,” says the terms “red states” and “blue states” were used well before Bush v. Gore. “If you go back to pre-2000,” Barrett told a radio interviewer in 2004, “you’ll actually see people talk about red states and blue states, but they’re switched the other way around.”

Evan Morris, who writes about word origins at http://www.worddetective.com, agrees. The use of blue and red on electoral maps dates back to at least 1908, Morris notes, and this color scheme has flipped back and forth several times.

But as the 20th century progressed, “red” acquired negative connotations of radicalism and communism while blue retained its association with truth and quality — “true blue,” “blue chip.” So each party was increasingly reluctant to be colored red.

Finally, in 1976, trying to avoid charges of favoritism, the TV networks agreed to set blue for the incumbent party and red for the challenging party, with the colors switching every four years.

From 1976 through 1996, this scheme led to the Republicans’ being blue and the Democrats’ being red in every election save 1988.
This reversed in 2000 and 2004 when the Republicans were red and the Democrats blue, and it’s this configuration that gave us the “red state-blue state” terminology of the 2000s.

According to the 1976 agreement, the incumbent Republicans should be blue this year and the challenging Democrats red. But will the networks, in choosing this year’s color scheme, abandon this dictate and yield to the powerful nomenclature of the watershed 2000 election?

    Stay tuned.

Senator McCain, Please Pick Tim Pawlenty for VP

Lately, I’ve been a bit frustrated by the fact that Hillary Clinton was able to draw a lot more antipathy from the netroots than John McCain. Three months ago, a day would rarely go by without a Hillary outrage diary hitting the rec list. Yet, now, even though we are facing an ACTUAL conservative whose rhetoric and attacks are infinitely more obnoxious than anything we saw from any Democrat during the primaries, no one here seems to care. In fact, even beyond the legitimate frustration over FISA, Obama is now a more frequent target of outrage than the Republicans who are actually the primary agents in the deterioration of our country. It’s almost as if many in the netroots kind of like John McCain. Even if he does represent a third Bush term, his whole persona just doesn’t seem to be able to draw all that much ire. And now that Obama lacks an effective foil, it seems that some of his supporters are getting bored and demotivated by the lack of campaign drama.

Fortunately, I think I’ve found a solution to this problem.
Tim Pawlenty is the governor of Minnesota. In 2006, he barely got reelected against a lackluster opponent (who practically threw the election by referring to a reporter as a ‘Republican whore’ in the last week of the race). After that, a major bridge collapsed on his watch. He is now considered one of the top candidates for vice president due to McCain’s alleged personal fondness for him. In fact, Andrew Sullivan recently opined that he thinks McCain has already chosen Pawlenty and is just sitting on the announcement. There seems to be some evidence for this claim, as the McCain campaign recently told US News that Pawlenty would “guarantee Minnesota and Wisconsin,” a “leak” almost certainly intended as a trial balloon to get Pawlenty’s name in the press and test the reaction.

Of course, Pawlenty wouldn’t guarantee either. According to SUSA, McCain/Pawlenty still gets slaughtered by Obama/Edwards (though McCain fairs better when Obama is paired with a ‘no-name’ pick like Rendell). In Wisconsin, Pawlenty does worse than any other polled VP pick. And the Wisconsin result is the norm for every other state in the Mid-West.

But that’s not why I like the idea of Tim Pawlenty for McCain’s VP candidate.

Rather, I like him because he’s an incredibly irritating sleaze. He’s like a Great Lakes Bush without the bizarre appeal that helped Dubya balance out the intense hatred of Democrats. I mean, seriously, have you seen this guy?

Watch this video. Skip to -6:40. Did you hear that insufferable, stilted joke?

“They shouldn’t have had the rally in Unity, New Hampshire, they should have had it in Politically Expediency, New Hampshire… uh, if such a community exists.”

Oh my GOD! That was soooooo bad! I haven’t heard a joke so stupid and awkward since Dan Quayle was allowed on national television. And it doesn’t end there. Watch his speech at last week’s. Prescott Bush Awards Dinner. No one perfectly encapsulates the disingenuous essence of the “Iraq flip-flop” meme than Tim Pawlenty. He perfectly expresses the erroneous point that so many here have missed in their panicky regurgitation of this dubious talking point: it’s not that Obama has changed his position, it’s that Republicans are trying to claim that he once supported “precipitous withdrawal.” That’s a lie! And it pisses me off! And it’s never pissed me off so much as when I heard it trickle out of Tim Pawlenty’s sleazy, lying mouth.

So yeah, Tim Pawlenty pisses me off.
I barely know this guy, but the thought of him being anywhere near the Oval Office gets my blood boiling.
Every time I hear him speak, the need to elect a Democratic president rattles my brain with startling clarity.
Just the thought of Vice President Pawlenty is unbearable.
And the thought of a potential President Pawlenty makes my imagination bleed.
As a partisan Democrat, John McCain makes me want to critique and debate.
But Tim Pawlenty makes me want to fight.

And that’s why I endorse Tim Pawlenty for John McCain’s running mate.

So Pawlenty’s Iraq flip-flop is worse than Obama’s???
