It really boils all down to something very simple. There will soon be an informal sampling of the SDs as to their preferences. This can go either way. These numbers will be added to the pledged delegates including whatever comes out of this weekends meeting (if anything) concerning FL/MI. The sum of all these will give a “projected winner.” Mind you it will not be official.

But the media and most of the Party will accept it as final. If it goes to Hillary, expect riots and other forms of (typical male) violence to put pressure on the delegates to change their minds. But since the counting will be done in secret and by Obama supporters (Dean/Pelosi etc.) don’t expect a fair accounting.

If Obama is declared the winner, the Party will attempt to get Hillary to accept the decision in order to not lose her supporters to McCain. They will use both carrots and sticks. But if she feels the entire process was rigged (it was of course), if Bill still wants to fight, and if we are still with her, she may choose to take it directly to the delegates in Denver. At Denver there will be an open and transparent vote of all the delegates. This is the best. If we lose fair and square, well that is just how these things go. Conversely, if the decision is made secretly behind closed doors by open Obama supporters like Dean and Pelosi before Denver, it will be viewed as an illegitimate nomination and will be hard for her supporters to swallow. No matter what Hillary says at that point, many will defect to McCain to wait four more years.

The moral of the story is: it is in everybody’s interest, including the Party and the eventual winner, to take this to Denver for a fair and open vote.

tex,

yes but we carry on, and here's the deal:
we want hillary to go and not stop, so actually,
WE seem to be 'in it to win it'...
no matter who betrays us, no matter how many times they do, we are
'jazzed' and we keep on fighting, and maybe we are forcing hillary to stay in the race.

sick or not, WE MEAN TO SEE IT THROUGH, WE EVEN MEAN TO FLIP TO MCCAIN, IF ALL ELSE FAILS, thats amazing.

susan at noquarter:
=====================================================

Call it an ol’ farm girl’s intuition. But it seems to me that the reason that Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are so very, very eager to get real close with Barack is that they want to milk him REAL GOOD for all of their House and Senate races, not to mention those governors and others that’ll need some money too. (See NYT: “Leaders in Congress Seek to Settle Soon on Nominee.”)

Harry and Nancy are eyeing Obama’s donors and they think they’ve got themselves a young, fat, and healthy cash cow.

Thing is, in the general election, Obama’s gonna have to spend money on HIMSELF ALONE like there’s no tomorrow.

Obama spent $36 million in April, exceeding his monthly fundraising for the first time. He and Clinton competed vigorously in Pennsylvania, where he substantially outspent her. He also spent heavily during April in Indiana and North Carolina, which held their primaries on May 6. Obama lost Indiana narrowly and won in North Carolina. (A.P.)

And that cow’s teats are gonna get plenty sore from being squeezed the more and more that John McCain surges ahead in the polls as the fall rolls along, and all that money for those congressional races that Harry and Nancy have their eyes on is gonna dry up.

On the other hand, Hillary’s donors are just getting started in raising money for her.

Hillary’s problem — despite the genius Jonathan Alter’s opining back in February that she’d run out of funding resources because her few supporteres had maxed out — wasn’t that she had too few donors, it was that her millions of supporters just didn’t realize how much they needed to pitch in for her. Then the money began pouring in, from people donating $5-25 per month — even to that lovely boy who sold his bicycle to help her campaign.

And they are ready, willing, and ABLE to donate in huge sums — just as they did in April.

IN FACT: I’d say that Hillary’s supporters are ten times more fired up to give money at this point than ever before!

I’ve never been around such a motivated, energized group of people EVER!

(My hunch entirely.)

That, and also my idea that when Harry and Nancy come back after Nov elections with larger majorities they are not going to want a strong Democrat like Hillary to deal with as president; hell no! They want Obambi to push around. And they’re in the grip of the MSM pushing Obambi.

yeah, it would take a totally incompetent and inexperienced neophyte to make pelosi and reid feel powerful. Hopefully we will all work very hard to make sure that obambi doesn’t get anywhere near the wh. thank god hillary is as tough as she is…she can stand up to reid, dean and pelosi like no other democrat.

Is it just me or is Nancy Pelosi stating to look more and more like Katherine Harris ?

Can anyone imagine what the reaction of leaders of both parties in Washington would be if a foreign country held an election and the winner of the popular vote were not declared the winner? They would be placing sanctions left and right all over that government. If this is allowed to happen (again), Washington will have no right to say anything when a foreign country does the same thing.

texan,

its like something out of a sci fi movie.
like DAWN OF THE DEAD, all these previously known to be democratic leaders, now becoming something we dont recognized...

ADMIN,

we need to start a 'grassroots' petition, to have speaker pelosi step down. she has misused her power as speaker, to influence and control a democratic election...
she has not proved effective in her position as speaker, and she and the committee, have made laughing stocks of our party...

Texas,
With over 220 TX SD's not saying who they will vote for next weekend, how much pressure can Richie put on them considering most of them are county chairs? Those SD's can get Hillary a net gain of 1 or 2 delegates for Denver
