A question on this Presidents Day: Should we attempt another moneybomb day?

We know that it is unusual for Democrats to plan ahead. We thought we would ask the question and let our readers and commenters decide the issue.

Here is what we propose:

Let’s have another moneybomb fundraising day for Hillary on Monday, February 25, 2008. Our first moneybomb day was on February 12, 2008.

Monday, February 25, 2008 is the day the Rezko trial was supposed to begin (now the Rezko trial begins on March 3, 2008).

Monday, February 25, 2008 is exactly one week away. This will give us plenty of time to organize the moneybomb to maximum effect.

On Monday, February 25, 2008 we would ask Hillary supporters to make a donation to Hillary for President along with 44 cents to let Hillary know the real grassroots of the party and the country are with her.

We will ask for minimum contributions to Hillary of $10.44. Those who want to send a message of appreciation to Bill Clinton could donate $42.44. Of course bigger contributions, more money donated, the better.

Money will be needed greatly on February 25, 2008 as it will be a few days before the March 4, 2008 primaries in Texas and Ohio. Donations received on February 25 will be sufficiently timely to assist in the efforts in Texas and Ohio.

At this point in the campaign, what helps the most is not theories or strategies or worries or even more words. What helps the most now is to supply the campaign with volunteers and financing to carry the message forward. Many of you are already helping with phone calls and volunteers are traveling to or living in states about to decide the fate of the world.

So the question on this Presidents Day is should we proceed with a moneybomb on February 25, 2008? We will go ahead with a moneybomb only if we can all publicize it far and wide.

To this purpose we have created an email account MoneyBomb@HillaryIs44.org – those who wish to help get the word out – please contact us at that email address. Let us know which websites you will communicate with, which Facebook or Myspace lists you will post to and how frequently. Send ideas on how to get the word out and how else we can help raise funds online for Hillary. Do not send in complex ideas or brilliant ideas – for someone else to do. Own your idea and get it done.

We await your answers in the comments and your assistance by email.

On this Presidents Day, let’s help add a colorful Hillary picture to the ones below.

  1. I’m all in for 2/25. I don’t blog or visit a lot of websites. The desire to contribute is still there. I saw a post yesterday on another board linking Hillary’s website contribution link.

Yes we can raise more money to put the best person for the job behind the desk.

    Yes can.

  2. Supporters of Sen. Hillary Clinton “are worried that convoluted delegate rules in Texas could water down the impact of strong support for her among Hispanic voters there, creating a new obstacle for her in the must-win presidential primary contest,” the Washington Post reports.

“What Clinton aides discovered is that in certain targeted districts… Clinton could win an overwhelming majority of votes but gain only a small edge in delegates. At the same time, a win in the more urban districts in Dallas and Houston — where Sen. Barack Obama expects to receive significant support — could yield three or four times as many delegates.”

  3. asked this last night and go no answer.

Per calling superdelegates. Should we have a short narrative on how to present our case. We can’t all sound alike but we can’t list 100 talking points either.

Also, today is Presidents Day…every Federal, State and Local office will be closed.

  4. well Obama has been saying last week that the SD’s should go with the popular vote…I suppose he’ll change tunes AGAIN if something happens in Texas.

This proportional delegate shite is for the birds…and I mean that literally.

  5. Morning folks.

The 2/25/08 money bomb sounds great. Glad I set enough money aside to do the $42.44 amount. A little kiss to Bill right next to Hill. 🙂

  6. I heard that Jake Trapper was on GMA to talk about Obama using Deval Patricks’ speeches.

Here are some instances of Obama copying Hillarys plans:

    Hillary’s Gulf Coast Recovery Plan:

    Infrastructure Bank:

    facts.hillaryhub.com/archive/?id=5949

    Stimulus Plan:

  7. He is nothing but a thief. Hillary surrogates need to hit the airwaves and let America know about this. Putting it on her website is not enough.

Of course they have to get asked to come on Cnn and Msnbc. I know they are not getting invited..but got to be a way.

  8. So, just for giggles I decided to check Bambi website this morning. There’s a story of Michelle Obama on the cover of Newsweek…there’s a story called Postcards From Hawaii….there’s a story about Obama’s visit to the Janesville GM plant. But not ONE statement on Kosova, not ONE statement on the NIU shootings , not ONE statement about the beef recall and food safety.

Guess if it isn’t about Barack Obama, it isn’t worth commenting on, huh?

    Concieted asshole.

  9. Although, I’m sure someone from Camp Obama will visit Hillarys website, say “uh oh, we screwd up again!” and then statements about REAL issues will start showing up on the Obama website.

Hillary said recently that you can’t be a leader if no-one is following. Well, when Hillary leads, Obama follows, so I guess she should be flattered, huh?

  10. It’s amazing to me how we could ever have a situation where a candidate in a campaign cannot mention weaknesses of an opponent. I’ve never seen a situation where one candidate has to work with her hands tied behind her back. Surely there is a way to break out of this. I’m sure that won’t work in the GE. The Repugs won’t give a damn, so they will simply tear the Dem candidate apart.

On Fox over the weekend Martha McCallum was talking about how McCain has started hitting Obama. To my surprise, she cautioned against that. She said, “People don’t like it when someone talks bad about Obama. A lot of people!” So f’ing what? If the guy isn’t tough enough to stand up to the truth in a campaign, how can he stand up to the problems this country faces both locally and abroad?

I hope Hillary finds a way to nail this guy before it’s too late. There is still time. After all, BHO is constantely attacking her in one way or another. I would hope she does it in the next debate, but I was disappointed after hoping for it in the last one. However, we can’t keep hoping someone or something is going to ride in to the rescue. One might say I feel frustrated. Very frustrated!

  11. Idunn, you are right. Obama is proving to be a good follower. I don’t think that’s good enough for leading this nation and the free world.

  12. HRC is hitting him plenty hard, Sherm. She’s nailed him on his fear of debating her, she’s nailed him on his empty speeches, she’s nailed him on his backtracking on his commitment to public financing in the GE.

    The gloves are off.

  13. I hope you are right, Idunn. I’ve noticed some of that, but it’s my opinion that stuff is tame compared to what is possible and what is needed. Again, that’s my opinion.

  14. Somehow Obama is getting a glorious free ride. No one is supposed to touch him, ’cause his people might get mad and call you a racist or something. I couldn’t get over that McCain advisor who said he would quit if Obama became the nominee, since he thought it would be bad to attack OB. He’s coming off as the Pope, or Gandhi. Good grief.

  15. guys, if you want more attacks on Obama, we as Hillary supporters must do the attacking!
Hillary has one hand tied behind her back. The way the media and his supporters treat him is like an overly inflated form of Affirmative Action. Whenever Hillary is attacked, they cheer, but when Bambi is attacked, it’s “racist”.

SCREW THAT. Let’s, as supporters, find ways to attack him that won’t involve HIllary 😉

  16. OTOH — I know a lot of people who got — and still do — pretty mad when they trash the Clintons. Somehow they ignore us.

  17. i don’t know about you guys, but i think this is the final stretch. IF we can dominate March 4th, we are in the clear. If we can’t, we pack it up. It’s time to pack on the heat! Get Bambi where it hurts and show no mercy!

  18. There was a Jonathan Alter piece in January which I only just saw, that said Hillary is a ‘good candidate but not a great one’. You know why? Because as a woman, she has a disadvantage. she can’t use her sexual attraction, as men can. As a woman, She can only use the sistercard.

The sexism was so blatantly put, and I saw no commentary on it.

  19. OK, MJS. I believe I’m attacking him in every way I can all over the web. I can’t point to any success though. You’re an imaginative person; what are some more ways?

I ask that sincerely, but I doubt anyone other than Hillary can be effective. She is going to simply have to find a way to untie her hands and let him have it on the chops. There are tons of ways to do that, only I lack the tact in trying to say how it should be done. I just know it’s long overdue.

  20. I think she should declare in a debate that he is not a leader but a follower. Then she should give a short litany of how he has followed her lead throughout this campaign. I’m sure that can be well done, and that’s only one example.

  21. well Sherm, there are traditional ways supporters can reach out to the people:

first: viral emails/chain mail. Send some persuasive stuff on Bambi to as many people you know and also give that email to other people who will likewise send it to other people and ask them to pass it on. That’s the first way, but it’s kind of slow.

second: youtube video. Make a creative and eye-catching video coupled with Obama’s lies, distortions, record, etc and make sure to send the link to as many people as possible with links on myspace and facebook sites too. If this video is creative enough it can catch attention on MSNBC, CNN, FOX, etc like the Obama girl video. ~*I personally think this is the best option for short term success–we can work on a script for this one if you want*~

third: speak to local reporters or even national reporters who may be interested. I think it would be pretty controversial/eye-catching if someone outright says “I support Hillary, but if Obama gets the nod, i will not be voting for him” and you can list reasons why. A story like this can easily dampen Bambi’s claim that all of Hillary’s supporters will support him. This is effective too if you find the right reporters who are interested.

there are numerous ways, but these are the best I think. I will try to think of other ways as well.

  22. My 2 cents about the racial thing.
I taught for 20 years in urban schools serving predominantly AA and Hispanic populations.
The staff was split about 75% white, 25% AA and Hispanic. It wasn’t for lack of looking for teachers from other racial groups; it’s that there were far fewer certified candidates for the job coupled with the fact that most younger people don’t want to go into teaching.

My point is, I have been accused of everything from hitting a kindergarten AA girl, which, of course wasn’t true, and that led to the parents trying to bring me up before DYFS. That was shot down by the union when it was obvious nothing had happened. The parents simply wanted to establish grounds for a lawsuit against the district.
I had another parent say he was going to report me to the police for having disciplined his son, a 5th grader who was about 14 years old. Again, the boy had made up the story and the father was just interested in pursuing a legal case as a means to make some money.

What I’m trying to say is that all the non-AA teachers knew they had to watch everything they said or did if they didn’t want to be accused of ‘racism.” It wasn’t something that was officially in the rules and regs book but everyone knew they had to walk on eggshells. That’s hard to do when you’re dealing with hundreds of kids per day, many of whom are violent and have emotional/behavioral issues.
But the unspoken threat of being labeled ‘racist’ affected the atmosphere and the way the school was run. The charges were so blatantly false. No one would show up to work in those schools every day unless they were non-racist.

What the BO camp is doing is exactly what’s going on in the public school system. Shame on them. If this keeps up school districts won’t be able to find anyone who’s willing to expose themselves to false charges which could affect their certification and their career, a career that pays poorly, is very demanding and which 99% of teachers would not do unless they had the best interests of the kids at heart.

  23. i say is a child is bad, it doesn’t MATTER what skin color they are. Like Martin Luther King jr said. All people are equal and should be judged on the content of their character, not the color of their skin.

Hell, if i taught and little caucasian student was horrendous, I’d whip him. And if an African American student was that bad, i’d whip him just as hard.

I think punishments and rewards should be given out to students on an equal basis. The same logic applies to Obama. If he’s bad, and he’s a disgusting liar (which he is), then I SAY we go for him where it hurts the most and pulverize him into a pulp, regardless of whether that’s a white pulp, an arabian pulp, or an African pulp.

  24. people have been slandering Hillary wherever I go. On websites, obama supporters keep repeating that she’s a communist when their candidate has been voted the MOST LIBERAL democrat of the year (in the GOP’s words, the closest to a socialist).

It’s so funny how they can get away with thiis stuff and not be called sexist, but when we call Bambi out on reasonable things, we’re racists. so HILARYIOUS.

  25. This is a wonderful post that was copied onto Taylor Marsh. I’m copying it here. I don’t know the original link, sorry. It’s a bit long, but really worth it.

I know Obama’s type. I was born on a small island named Haiti. In 1990 we had a man with similar abilities to make speeches and inspire a crowd. His rallies were religious experiences. Literally. His name was Jean Bertrand Aristide.

It feels like yesterday. When people heard Aristide talk, he made it seem as if he could turn water into wine. And surely people started believing him that he could. His speeches were legendary. He helped bring a revolution to my country. Every poor person saw in him a savior. He was the one that would make their dream come true, and he did nothing to stop them from believing that.

I never liked Aristide because he always speeches to hide behind the fact that he had no solutions to anyone problem. But of course, in a poor country such as Haiti, when a candidate don’t have solution to famine, they offer hope instead. Never bet against the promise of Hope. I learned that lesson at 14 years old. People with no hope will take the promise of Hope over food and shelter any day. It worst than crack.

I begged my mother that he was trouble. He made too many promises that I knew, even as a 14 years old, that he could not keep because the problems he wanted to fix could not just be “willed” into history. But my mother was caught in the Aristide hysteria that swept Haiti.

When Aristide was elected, Haitians felt as if Jesus had being elected president. Most felt that bread would soon start falling from the sky (Hysteria does blind people to logic.) Everyone felt the wind of change blowing over the country. But no one expected the kind of change that Arisistide brought. I was so glad to have left Haiti before I had to live through the nightmare that came with the Aristide presidency.

I am not an analyst. I love America and it pains me when I see how people follow Obama without thinking. When I hear him speak, he reminds me of Aristide and I get a bit nervous. Call it intuition. Call it whatever, but I don’t think he would make a good president.

If being president was all about making great speeches, I would recommend Aristide as the president of the world. He could wip Obama’s butt any day of the week in how he inspires people. The man could turn Jesus gay, he was that good at inspiring a crowd. But when it comes down to it being president is different than talking about being president. it requires a lot of work. Congress and Senate are not going to “change” just because Obama wishes them too. He has to have allies. You have to nudge lawmakers toward goals one inch at a time. Obama makes it sound as if he just had to make a State of the Union Address and tell lawmakers to do as he says and they will magically “change” and follow his very, very liberal policies.

Say what you may about Hillary, but she knows about how get things done. She may not be the best speaker and you don’t get a sense that you want to hug her when you see her, but I don’t want my president to be my teddy bear. I want my president to get this country back on track and I feel that she can.

Please beware of electing any official on “likability.” We made that mistake in 2000 with Bush. Remember, everyone thought he was the funnest guy. They liked him over Gore because he was funnier and they felt that they could go out for a drink with him. Guess what what that got us. War, deficit and a bunch of nut jobs who think going to war with Iran is God’s will. I would hate to see us repeat that same mistake again.

If you are going to vote for Obama vote for him because you know he is better qualified (which he is not,) not because he “inspires” you into getting your ass into the voting booth (something that should not require inspiration since it is our civic duty.) Let’s not make the mistake the “likability” mistake again. For the sake of this country now and the future.

  26. What’s interesting, RE what I posted previously, that OB is not hypnotizing poor people, but well-to-do people.

  27. I wonder just how exactly Barack and Michelle found the house they ended up buying with the help of their friendster, Tony Rezko. If I’m not mistaken, the seller of the house was a doctor. Could he or she have been an associate of Michelle’s through the University Of Chicago Hospital?

  28. From http://www.firstread.msnbc.com
Feel free to write Chuckie. He asked the question, how would it be reported if it was clinton? I think we all know the answer and he still doesn’t hit obama hard for non-attribution. REgarding Rezco, I don’t believe what they wrote and they know, they hear Rezco coming…drip…drop…drip…drop

First thoughts: The Wisconsin test casePosted: Monday, February 18, 2008 9:26 AM by Mark Murray
    Filed Under: First Thoughts
From Chuck Todd, Mark Murray, and Domenico Montanaro
*** The Wisconsin test case: The Democratic race tomorrow in Wisconsin is shaping up to be a momentum race heading into the March 4 contests. Does Obama win handily there and in Hawaii, making him 10-0 since February 5? Or does Clinton pull off the upset — or at least make it close — in a state where’s campaigned only since Saturday. Clearly, the Clinton campaign is using Wisconsin is being used as something of a test case of how effective negative attacks on Obama can be. There’s been nothing overly nasty, just some tough pokes like the health care mailer and the debate TV ads. If Clinton gets close to Obama tomorrow, the campaign will likely conclude the negative attacks worked, and they’ll escalate a bit more ahead of the March 4 primaries.

*** Process this: The Clinton camp is hitting Obama hard on a few process issues, including over debates and campaign finance issues. While the press gets this stuff rather easily, do voters? Still, it appears McCain’s got a more effective hit on Obama over the idea of whether he would take public financing as the nominee. This is actually an odd backtrack by Obama since it would be hard for Obama to figure out how to spend $85 million in a mere 60 days after the Democratic convention. More importantly, as the nominee, the DNC could then raise the serious hard dollars that Obama would be backing off from. So strategically, it seems like an easy promise for Obama stick to. But Obama’s campaign must be a little hesitant to follow through on this promise, because it may worry Clinton’s campaign can use this decision to “disarm” as one of the reasons superdelegates should be convinced that Clinton and not Obama would be the stronger nominee for the party.

*** Just words? Whose words? The oppo drop du jour is a YouTube clip of Obama friend and supporter Deval Patrick — in 2006 — saying virtually the same thing Obama did on Saturday night in Milwaukee. “Don’t tell me words don’t matter!” Obama said. “‘I have a dream’ — just words? ‘We hold these truths to be self evident that all me are created equal’ — just words? ‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself’ — just words? Just speeches?” The suggestion here: that Obama borrowed/recycled/pilfered (take your pick) Patrick’s lines. The Obama campaign, however, maintains that Obama and Patrick share lines all the time, and Patrick says that he applauded Obama from using this one on Saturday night. But is this a story? Back in April 2007, the Boston Globe wrote a similar piece over these very words, after Obama said that line to the New Republic. So Obama has said this before, and the press has reported it before (although not necessarily as a gotcha piece). Of course, the difference is that Obama is now the front-runner. More importantly, what would the reaction be if Clinton were the candidate accused of borrowing lines from another politician — even one who is a friend and who shares the same media consultant? Obama probably escapes major criticism over this unless there’s another instance that doesn’t involve Patrick.

*** On the up and up: Speaking of oppo, Bloomberg’s Tim Burger has a piece entitled “Obama Bought His Home With No Rezko ‘Discount,’ Seller Affirms,” which basically concludes that everything was on the up and up regarding Obama’s purchase, even though he may have acted like he had something to hide. Anyway, the piece has new details and the first conversation with the original owner Obama brought from

  29. Why would this doctor agree to divide up the estate in such a way that he or she would be selling the house on the one hand, and an apparently useless lot with no street access on the other?

Who did the good doctor think would BUY this useless land? Unless, of course, he or she already KNEW that Rezko would buy it.

More than a little odd, if you ask me.

  30. Admin, that video post is just too funny. Obambi is just an actor, a puppet. Every move, speech, conviction, and stance on issues is just plagiarized scripts. In college, I would have been expelled for plagiarism, it’s amazing to think that a Presidential nominee would not be expelled for the same thing. Just others words, just others speeches.

  31. has anyone seen this yet:

whenever I read these articles and note the common thread of Hillary being competent with policy as opposed to Obama who is “well, less so.” Who knew? The battle for the vote of Democratic scientists is underway, Slate associate editor Daniel Engbe, reports, and Hillary Clinton is ahead. Surrogates from the two campaigns showed up in Boston Saturday for a forum at annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. “In this battle of the campaign stereotypes,” he reports, “Hillary came out the clear winner.” The Clinton surrogate came armed with lots of policy details, including plans to increase spending on a raft of government research programs and reverse the ban on embryonic stem-cell research. The Obama surrogate was, well, less so. “The audience seemed appreciative — if not deeply moved — by the details” of Clinton’s plan.

  32. strike that last post….

  33. I found this on TPM Web site :: Do you think this is true???

While the Hillary Clinton campaign has made the Ohio and Texas contests on March 4 into their new firewall, they have only recently discovered the arcane rules of delegate selection in Texas, which could potentially mean that even a substantial popular win translates into only a slight edge in delegates.

The Washington Post reports that Hillary strategists learned in a closed-door meeting this month about the Texas contest, which splits delegates among the state Senate districts and also between the primary and a caucus held that night. It’s ultimately a commentary on their lack of planning for a race lasting after Super Tuesday — when they thought they’d have the race locked up — that they have only just now learned of delegate rules that were of long-standing public knowledge.

  34. Obama is sure real defensive about the charge he is all words and no action. Apparently, the plagiarized portion of his speech was off-the-cuff and wasn’t in the formal text of the speech. Interesting!

I am noticing this pattern in him, he has a real thin skin to being challenged. He gets real upset when he is challenged. That is when he makes mistakes. I think he is defensive because he himself knows that he has no substance. He is afraid others are finding this out. Hillary should continue her hard-hitting speeches.

  35. From perez hilton:

    Obama Plagiarizes Speech

Barack Obama has been criticized for plagiarizing a speech during a campaign stop this past weekend and not being upfront about it.

The similarities between the Democratic presidential hopeful and a speech made by by Deval Patrick, the current Democratic governor of Massachusetts, back in October 2006 are striking.

Barack blatantly copied several lines and linguistic speech patterns from Deval’s “Just Words” speech for Obama’s own “Words Matter” speech in Wisconsin.

Click here to check out a side by side comparison of both speeches!

Good that he uses the word plagiarism

  36. MJS,
“I say is a child is bad, it doesn’t MATTER what skin color they are.”
You’re absolutely right! But there is a double standard for disciplining AA students and it affects everything from test scores to real learning to motivation.
One of the reasons public schools are so terrible in inner cities is because the kids are not held accountable as the staff is paranoid about the “R” word.
Now, it seems, the press and the media are as paranoid as the teachers. Being branded a racist is a kiss of death for journalists as well as educators. And BO is very aware of that. He’s blackmailing the country the same way some of the parents are blackmailing the school systems.knows this.

  37. See this funny remark on Politico to a Ben Smith article about the similarities of Yes! We Can rhetoric from Obama and Deval Patrick campaigns:

So, basically, it’s not so much Yes! We Can! as it is Yes! We Con!

Posted By: bmc | February 18, 2008 at 08:18 AM

    YES! WE CON! (LOL)

  38. This is a comment we wrote a long while back pertaining to another matter. Our comment back then addresses the issue of plagarism today:

    http://www.hillaryis44.org/?p=176#comment-927

Kostner: Honesty is the best policy. Intellectual Property law is in large part intended as a protection of the consumer. In other words, with written material, the reader should know the origin of information. This means that even when there is consent from the writer to use the material, in order to protect the consumer the obligation is full disclosure.

  39. blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/02/obama-echoes-de.html

Here Jake Tapper hits the nail on the head:

“It does seem to me that this issue may also be one between Obama and his supporters,
not just Obama and Patrick. Thousands, if not millions, of Americans are inspired by Obama’s
words. They do not think they are “just words.” But many of them also likely think they are
    at least somewhat original.”

    EXACTLY!

The story is gaining legs and we should do our best to spread this far and wide.

The key issue is the con here.

  40. Get this, CNN, the objective media that it isn’t, is saying the speech was “adapted”. LMAO…..how long can this go on? This is plagiarism, plain and simple.

    politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/02/18/some-of-obamas-stump-speech-adapted-material/

  41. Idunn, This how it was done:

The Trib has been doing a good job of covering this. From the Trib archive:

    625,000 06/20/2005
    5050 S Greenwood Ave, Kenwood, 60615
to Rita M Rezko, from Fredric E Wondisford

    $1,650,000 06/21/2005
    5046 S Greenwood Ave, Kenwood, 60615
to Northern Trust Co Trustee, from Fredric Wondisford

    $104,500 02/16/2006
    5050 S Greenwood Ave, Kenwood, 60615
to Northern Trust Co Trustee, from Rita M Rezko

Obama is hiding behind the “Northern Trust Co Trustee” ownership.

  42. Obambi = Deval Patrick

I think someone needs to go over written and recorded texts of these two. I bet this is not the only time Obambi has lifted material.

  43. Good Morning all,

Guess that Oprah is now a proud endorser of another plagiarist, Barack Obama. First it was the author of A million little pieces, and now the great now Obama. Very nice Oprah!

  44. http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/02/obama-echoes-de.html

Since last year, observers have been noting that rhetorical similarities between the two candidates with vaguely similar biographies and campaign pitches — who also share political guru David Axelrod.

“It’s a handoff,” Axelrod explains in an email. “They’re friends and allies. They share a view of politics and often riff off of each other.”

Okay, so let me get this straight. It’s OKAY to PLAGIARIZE if you are friends and allies? LOL

I’ll have to remember that if I go back to college and try to pass off one my friend’s written works (who happens to be an author). But Professor, “Axelrod said it was okay to plagiarize if your friends!”……I wonder if that will get me through English 101?

  46. Good morning, Hillfans. Got the house info posted from Bloomberg News plus some background on the good doctors. University of Chicago Hospitals = Michelle Obama.

    rezkowatch.blogspot.com/2008/02/obama-bought-his-home-with-no-rezko.html

  47. LMAO.

the best question is: just WHO is running for President? Barack or Patrick or Axelrod? (hillary should ask this 😀

  48. Senator Joseph Biden

    * Biden was forced to withdraw from the 1988 Democratic US Presidential nominations when it was alleged that he had failed a 1965 introductory law school course on legal methodology due to plagiarism. “Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., fighting to salvage his Presidential campaign . . . acknowledged ‘a mistake’ in his youth, when he plagiarized a law review article for a paper he wrote in his first year at law school. Mr. Biden insisted, however, that he had done nothing ‘malevolent,’ that he had simply misunderstood the need to cite sources carefully.”[56] Biden withdrew from the race September 23, 1987, and reported the law school incident to the Delaware Supreme Court. The court’s Board of Professional Responsibility cleared him of any allegations.[57]
    * Biden was also accused of plagiarizing portions of his speeches, notably those of British Labour leader Neil Kinnock and US Senator Robert F. Kennedy. Biden was forced out of the Presidential race after the Michael Dukakis campaign released a video showing Biden using one of Kinnock’s speeches without properly attributing it. Biden called the charges “much ado about nothing;”[58] it was also revealed that Biden had used and properly cited the Kinnock speech on several other occasions, although he failed to do so on the one instance recorded by the Dukakis campaign.[59]

  49. Well, Frederick “rick” Waddell (ceo of Northern Trust Co.) donated to Obama’s campaign.

    fundrace.huffingtonpost.com/neighbors.php?type=name&lname=WADDELL

Not sure that really means anything though.

    (I’m getting a headache now)

  50. from readine online newspaper accounts about yesterday..it seems Hillary was a bit hit with her ad-hoc campaign stops.

Everybody talks about how genuine she is…unlike the phoney bambi guy. I think she is a better presidental candidate than Bill was too. I am praying for her everyday too

  51. Glad you like that MJS!

    Let us say it again.

WHO IS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT? Barack Obama or Deval Patrick or David Axelrod?

  52. Plagiarize… Merriam-Webster…

to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one’s own : use (another’s production) without crediting the source; to commit literary theft : present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source

  53. While it is important to note that he has plagiarized from other speeches, etc. if he had just cited the original authors while doing so, he would have been covered.

At the same time though, I think it is even more important to get the message out that he has copied/followed Hillary’s policies/plans and put them out as his own. I think that is where she should push their differences. She leads and he copies her.

  54. let us just ‘hope’ that the Rezco deal shakes many more skeletons out of his closet/.

It is quite scary that someone so young in political career has such a shady record. I understand his urgency now…by the time he is Hillary’s age all this shite will have caught up with him and he’d be deader than dead.

They are busy trying to close doors and seal up drafts..but it will all come “out in the open”.

  55. B Merry, saw your post on rezkowatch. Why would the sellers release this information through the Obama campiagn? Why would they not talk to the press directly?

  56. he could have very easily said… ‘as my friend Deval Patrick pointed out: blah blah blah….’

but no, this phoney baloney had to steal the show. He WAS plagiarizing. Its not the first time either.

THis is our mission. Let find all the duplicates, from Hillary’s economic plans to MLK Jr’s wording to using JFK’s speechwritier.

Where are his original ideas? They only come out during debates when he is caught off gaurd and makes snide comments ‘you’re likable..”

  57. Does this sound familiar anyone….

Biden was also accused of plagiarizing portions of his speeches, notably those of British Labour leader Neil Kinnock and US Senator Robert F. Kennedy. 58. Its amazing how similar he is to George Bush. Karl Rove told W explicitly ‘dont get caught up in the issues’. He gave him talking points on 3×5 cards to say over and over again with buzz words to appeal to the evangelicals. Anyone see a similarity? BO uses his same euphamisms over and over again. Hope for change. Change for hope. Ugh.

    David Axelrod is Karl Rove
    BO is W

  59. dot48, you are right. As I’ve stated before, Obama only came into the race so early, because of Rezko and is pending trial.

  60. kaffeen, sources say that Obama has spoken to Rezko’s lawyers and I’m willing to bet that he was pushing for the date to be moved back.

  61. is it legal for him to speak to Rezko’s lawyers? Can he do this?

Can this be documented? tomorrow’s headline on drudgerport?

Obama sureptitious frantic meeting with slumlord Rezko’s lawyers to push back trial date till after nomination is secured.

  62. and on CNN…

Some of Obama’s stump speech adapted material
    Posted: 10:20 AM ET

(CNN) – A central passage in the stump speech Barack Obama has been giving in recent days — aimed at convincing voters that his campaign is not just about lofty rhetoric — is adapted from Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, Obama’s campaign acknowledged over the weekend.

Striking similarities between Obama’s words and those of Patrick during his 2006 election campaign have raised eyebrows and attracted traffic on YouTube.

  63. Baltimore Sun 8 minutes ago…

Sen. Hillary Clinton’s campaign wants everyone to see a campaign speech made in 2006 by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick just before he won that office and a recent speech by Sen. Barack Obama.

In his speech Patrick responded to the charge by his opponent that he was a fine speaker capable of tossing off inspirational words but not a politician with results. All words no action.

Patrick responded by uttering some of the most famous words of American history: “We hold these truths to be self-evident” and “We have a dream” and saying, repeatedly, they were “just words” too. A very effective comeback.

So effective, in fact, that last night Obama used a similar formulation in Wisconsin two nights ago as you can see from the YouTube video.

“If you use somebody else’s words or somebody else’s idea, I believe you should credit them,” said Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.,) a Clinton ally, in a teleconference being held right now “…When Sen. Obama uses them and doesn’t credit their origin, those same words seem less inspiring…”

The obvious question is, how damaging will this be for Obama? When Sen. Joe Biden lifted some words and life events from a British politician in 1988, he wound up being so badly wounded, he had to quit the race. It definitely isn’t the kind of thing Obama wants people focusing on right now.

In the age of YouTube, it’s probably a good idea for presidential candidates to credit the source to avoid these kinds of problems.

  64. Ronald, the only proof I will have is the word of my source, and I don’t think i’m willing to name him just yet. besides, he’s getting paid in six digits by the OBambi campaign, so my source wouldn’t be too happy about that.

  65. Bbbbut if he has to give credit to the sources he uses, is he going to give credit to Hillary for “adapting” her policy ideas for his own?

    Probably not!

  66. and i think its a blunder for Axelrod to mention that DEval Patrick and Obama have been inter-plagiarising each other since 2004, doncha think? Axelrod is an idiot. Just hope the media is smart enough to pick up on this.

The clinton campaign should be pushing this FULL force.

  67. I asked a question last night in a previous thread will the media give this a pass, well they may not be able to. It looks like the story has gone viral. It looks like they will be forced to cover it. We will see.

  68. How sweet it is….

Biden was also accused of plagiarizing portions of his speeches, notably those of British Labour leader Neil Kinnock and US Senator Robert F. Kennedy. Biden was forced out of the Presidential race after the Michael Dukakis campaign released a video showing Biden using one of Kinnock’s speeches without properly attributing it. 69. The American people have a right to know who they are electing. When you give a “moving” speech, we have a right to know, are the words yours? or are you the speaker a “moving” target.

  70. I wonder what John Edwards thinks of all this…and Bill Richardson. If anybody is leaning…now is the time.

This guy is as phony as they come.

Looks like that 26 year old so called genius who writes his speechs is as dumb as a coal bucket. I will include the whole Bambi campaign them in that too.

  71. DEPERE, Wisconsin (Reuters) – Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton released a new “Economic Blueprint” on Monday that touts ways to help working Americans as she seeks to gain an edge on rival Barack Obama, who has moved into the lead in the Democratic contest.

The pamphlet repackages ideas Clinton has already proposed, such as putting a 90-day moratorium on foreclosures of subprime mortgages, removing tax breaks for oil companies and investing the money in clean energy programs, and putting new restrictions on credit card companies, including a cap on interest rates.

“Over the past seven years, big corporations and special interests have been given a free pass to profit, often at the expense of the American worker,” the brochure said. “As president, Hillary will make it a priority to scale back special benefits and subsidies to these corporations and put those resources to work for our economy again.”

The pamphlet will be distributed at campaign events as she battles to be the Democratic nominee in the November election.

In addition to the pamphlet about the economy, Clinton’s speeches over the past few days have had a new populist, anti-corporate message on the economy that has echoes of former presidential candidate John Edwards.

The Clinton campaign hopes this rhetoric will play well with working-class voters in Wisconsin, which holds its primary on Tuesday, and in Ohio, a must-win state for Clinton where anxiety over the economy is particularly high because of the loss of manufacturing jobs over the last several years.

Both Clinton and rival Obama have met Edwards to discuss his endorsement. The former senator from North Carolina had made fighting corporate interests and poverty key themes of his failed bid for the Democratic nomination.

  72. The reason CNN and other media monsters are touting the “they are both so similar in policy ideas” is because they are. Both campaigns are using Hillary’s ideas and have been for some time.

  73. OBAMA SPENT $1.3 MILLION IN FLORIDA MORE THAN ANY OTHER CANDIDATE INCLUDING REPUBLICANS

    http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/2/18/101423/027

Obama spent $1.3M, plus change, in Florida
by Jerome Armstrong, Mon Feb 18, 2008 at 10:14:23 AM EST

He didn’t get a very good return on his campaigning in Florida:

Hillary Clinton and Obama each spent about $130,000 in Michigan while Obama spent $1.3 million in Florida–more than any other Democratic candidate and more than eight Republican candidates, who were eligible to win delegates from the state.
That, from the Center for Responsive Politics. I realize that it’s still going to be a fight to make the Democratic Party convention a 50-state event, rather than the 48-state event that some want it to be, but this puts to rest the notion that Obama didn’t campaign in Florida.

    Speaking of Obama’s money:

When Exelon failed to disclose radioactive leaks at one of its nuclear plants, Obama tried to push through a bill in the Senate last year that required such plants to notify state and local authorities of such cases, the New York Times reported last week. According to the Times, the final proposal was a watered-down version of the original legislation that “played into the hands of the nuclear power industry.” Obama has collected at least $222,000 from Exelon employees for his presidential campaign, making the company his eighth largest contributor last year.
Dang, that sorta makes you wonder with the top seven, ahead of Exelon, got.

Look, I really don’t mind at all if Obama wins the nomination, and if he does I would hope he wins big too. What’s tiring is the talk that he’s different, especially the hyperbolic messianic crap that his supporters shamelessly use to hype Obama. The pretending that he’s light and Clinton is dark while his votes are not any different than Clinton’s; the pretending that he is a progressive leader in the Senate when he is not; the pretending that he’s the oracle of change when he’s merely mouthing words that David Axelrod recycled from Deval Patrick’s winning MA gubernatorial campaign in 2006; and the pretending that he’s some sort of vessel that shares your personal values which if its true means your soul succumbs to good marketing.

Support the guy, vote for him, argue about his electability. Just don’t try to fake others, whom don’t support him currently, into believing that he exemplifies a transcendent change.

This needs to be posted everywhere also. Obviously, he campaigned in FLORIDA.

  74. yes, turn up the heat. This guy needs to be exposed. The friggin media has been so hands off..well now its time for them to get serious.

This will show just exactly what the media is made of. While we mostly know…there comes a time when they cannot turn a blind eye…get it — blind eye. We will see.

Not something good for him the day before the Wisconsin primary…and I bet the Wisconsin stupid governore has shite his pants…he went adnaseum about the “hope and change, brilliant speeches” shite the other night.

    Burn baby burn.

  75. haha. called my obama source, he basically said that the campaign is in a panic mode to quell these plagiarism rumors. They have PAID people working to post comments on blogs, and threads to change people’s ideas and have also sent out people to MSNBC, CNN, and FOX to try to get this story a little less airtime. lmao.

    damage control.

  76. Somebody get Perez to put up the Bob the Builder song too. Hey, let’s show the world everything this idiot steals, including the words of a kids icon. LOL!

  77. This from MSNBC…

  78. http://www.capitaleye.org/inside.asp?ID=335

For the Democrats, Barack Obama outspent the rest of the candidates in all four of the primary states where his party was campaigning—Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada—and came in first in Iowa and South Carolina. On the Republican side, Mitt Romney spent the most in Iowa, South Carolina, Michigan and Wyoming but won only Michigan and Wyoming. Ron Paul outspent his opponents in New Hampshire, Nevada and Florida, but didn’t take first place in any of those contests. Now would be a good time to mention that measuring spending in a state is problematic. The biggest expenses—advertising, for one—are often spent with vendors outside the state, or even just over the state line. These figures measure only what was spent on the ground with local companies and individuals.

Although the Democrats weren’t able to earn delegates in Michigan or Florida, because the states scheduled early primaries without the national party’s blessing, the hopefuls still spent nearly $3.4 million in those states. Hillary Clinton and Obama each spent about $130,000 in Michigan while Obama spent $1.3 million in Florida—more than any other Democratic candidate and more than eight Republican candidates, who were eligible to win delegates from the state.

  79. Per USA Today…

The New York Times, Politico and ABC’s Political Punch are among those writing today about how Barack Obama has come to use some of the same rhetoric as his close friend, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, in responding to attacks that he’s “just words.” Obama strategist David Axelrod says the pair discussed the attacks and calls the borrowed rhetoric “a handoff.”

  80. “Bamboozled, hoodwinked…” uncreditted to Malcolm X

“Just words? “…. uncreditted to Patrick Duvall

“yes we can!”….uncreditted to Bob the Builder

    Similar speech lines raise eyebrows
    By Greg J. Borowski
    Monday, Feb 18 2008, 10:30 AM

In the wake of a Saturday speech in Milwaukee, some lines uttered by Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama have raised eyebrows for their similarity to ones used in the past by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick.

Toward the end of his speech, at a state Democratic Party dinner, Obama quoted lines from speeches by famous Americans, including John F. Kennedy, then added after each: “Just words?” It was a forceful response to criticisms, including from rival Hillary Rodham Clinton, that Obama’s popularity is based on speeches over substance. That portion of Obama’s speech apparently was ad-libbed. It was not in the prepared remarks, at least not in those terms.

(That portion of the speech came after the Journal Setinel’s deadline for the Sunday newspaper had passed).

Over the weekend, videos of the two speeches side by side began gaining attention. You can read a story from the website Politico.com here.

In a conference call this morning with reporters, Obama campaign adviser David Plouff attributed the issue about the similarities to Clinton’s campaign “grasping at straws.” He said Obama and Patrick are friends who “share thoughts on ideas and language.”

  85. This from Politico (Yes, Politico)…

Is there an echo in here?

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D) have not only endorsed each other’s campaigns, they also have provided verbatim inspiration for each other.

A rival campaign circulated a pair of YouTube links on Sunday that make the point vividly.

Here’s Patrick at a rally for his gubernatorial campaign on Oct. 15, 2006, during the final stretch of his successful campaign against then-Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey (R):

“But her dismissive point, and I hear it a lot from her staff, is that all I have to offer is words — just words. ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, [applause and cheers] that all men are created equal.’ [Sustained applause and cheers.] Just words – just words! ‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself.’ Just words! ‘Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.’ Just words! ‘I have a dream.’ Just words!”

Here’s Obama on Saturday night at the Democratic Party of Wisconsin’s Founders Day Gala in Milwaukee:

An Obama official said: “They’re friends who share similar views and talk and trade good lines all the time.”

Obama apparently ad-libbed the remark, which was not in his text.

The Massachusetts governor said in a statement: “Sen. Obama and I are longtime friends and allies. We often share ideas about politics, policy and language. The argument in question, on the value of words in the public square, is one about which he and I have spoken frequently before. Given the recent attacks from Sen. Clinton, I applaud him responding in just the way he did.”

The Boston Globe reported last year that Obama had echoed the “just words” comments in a New Republic article, and noted “symbiotic friendship between Obama and Patrick.”

Obama made the comments in reference to Saul Alinsky, father of community organizing, while talking with Ryan Lizza for an article published last March.

The inspiration has run both ways between Obama and Patrick, both Harvard Law grads and longtime acquaintances.

Obama also used “Yes, we can!” — now a staple of his presidential campaign — as a rallying cry in his successful race for U.S. Senate in 2004.

The Globe reported: “After Patrick employed the same phrase at a state Democratic Convention in 2005, a reporter alerted the campaign that it was Obama’s signature line, and they went back to the drawing board,” said Dan Payne, a Democratic strategist working for Patrick at the time. (Patrick would adopt “together we can” instead.)

In fact, posters visible in the YouTube video from 2006 say, “Deval Patrick” and “Together We Can.”

  86. why doesn’t Plouffe just say Obama and Patrick are the same people then? Obviously…if it walks like a duck, looks like a duck…thinks like a duck…it’s a dog?? Nope. that doesn’t make sense.

  87. David Plouff attributed the issue about the similarities to Clinton’s campaign “grasping at straws.” He said Obama and Patrick are friends who “share thoughts on ideas and language.”

I see. So Bambi is also friends with Malcolm X, John Edwards and Bob The Builder???

    This from the Chicago Sun-Times….

Obama lifts quotes from Deval Patrick

    February 18, 2008
    BY LYNN SWEET

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama lifts some lines from Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick when he defended himself Saturday night about being an inspirational speaker who may have more sizzle than steak. In doing so, he borrowed a riff from Patrick (a native Chicago South Sider) who shares with Obama a key strategist, David Axelrod.

“Don’t tell me words don’t matter,” said Barack Obama at the Wisconsin Democratic Party Founders Day dinner on Saturday in a rebuttal to Hillary Rodham Clinton’s assessment that he is about “speeches” and not “solutions.” He then goes on to quote some very famous lines. Just about the same thing Patrick said in a speech in 2006, when he was running for governor. Patrick is endorsing Obama.

  102. hey all… ive got the bug, so i’m in bed…. what are we doing? need help with what today? i did the pledge… what else can i do from bed?

  103. kaffeen: are there links posted? if not i can look em up. just let me know… i have the link to the video, but not the stations… i think wisconsin is good, but we need to make sure this story gets out in texas and ohio.

  106. but mommy, why is it COPYING if my friend gave me permission to COPY his homework? Besides, I didn’t really COPY it. I just googled “inspirational” speeches and took my friends essay off the web. That’s not really copying… is it?

  107. no no these BO’s words weren’t stolen…. they were copied.

  109. Dennis Pregar of right wing talk radio is talking about Bambi now. He’s going on about his ‘tepid’ response to the Che Guevarra flag being posted in one of his offices in TX. To those of you who don’t know who Che Guevarra is, he was in one very real way Castro’s enforcer and a murderer.

If this gets out, you can definitely kiss the Cuban vote goodbye and there goes FL. This is another reason why Hill must be the nominee.

Perez Hilton had another citing of the Che Guevarra flag posted in one of Obama’s supporters or Obama’s TX office up last week. he got so much hate mail. Go to http://www.perezhilton.com

To those who don’t know, Perez is Cuban and from South Florida. The Obamanuts railings will only solidify his support for Hillary as most if not all Cubans HATE Castro. Add that to the remarks from Bambi that he would meet with Castro with no pre-conditions…

In addition, Laura Ingram- right wing talk show host was talking about the plagerism issue this morning.

My only wish is that the voters of WI really, really get to hear this story.

  110. Idunn or Admin,

Can you post the Malcolm X comparisons? Are there videos to go with this?

Great talking point when making calls…

  111. This from NY Post:

UH, ‘O’ – AN ‘ISRAEL PROBLEM’
    By ANDREA PEYSER

February 18, 2008 — DOES Barack Obama have an Israel problem? The golden-throated senator has pledged unflagging loyalty to the Jewish state on his campaign Web site, and unequivocal support for Israel’s right to defend itself. As far as his staff is concerned, end of story.
But an e-mail has lately flown through the in-boxes of hundreds of influential New Yorkers, mainly Democrats, that poses a simple question: Would a President Obama be good for the Jews?

That depends on whom you ask. And the one asking is not, as Obama staffers suspect, Hillary Clinton, but Lois Whitman, a public-relations executive and die-hard Dem, who’s been blown away by the response – pro and con.

Issue No. 1: Obama can’t shake his affiliation with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright of Chicago, the spiritual leader from whose sermon Obama took the title of his book “Audacity of Hope.”

Last year, Wright bestowed an award on the Rev. Louis Farrakhan – the man who called Judaism a “gutter religion” and Jews “bloodsuckers.” He declared Farrakhan one who “epitomized greatness.”

But Obama has lately distanced himself from his longtime minister. He called Wright the night before his campaign launch last year to disinvite him from the event. Wright told The New York Times Obama feared “his Jewish support will dry up quicker than a snowball in hell.”

Just last month, Obama declared, “Like a member of my own family, there are things he says at times with which I deeply disagree,” a statement carefully applauded by the Anti-Defamation League.

Issue No. 2: Obama’s had trouble distancing himself from Zbigniew Brzezinski, Jimmy Carter’s national security adviser, who claims the United States’ special relationship with Israel is the result of Jewish pressure, not mutual good.

While the campaign admits Brzezinski has advised Obama, staffers insist his influence begins and ends on the situation in Iraq.

Is Obama good for Israel? Let’s hope he leaves no doubt about the answer.

  112. Didn’t Obama steal from Edwards speeches from 2004? I remember reports about that early in the campaign.

Also, he has stolen policies from Hillary–I posted a few of those earlier.

  113. They’re trying to bamboozle you. It’s the same old okie-doke. Y’all know about okie doke, right? … They try to bamboozle you. Hoodwink ya. Try to hoodwink ya. Alright, I’m having too much fun here. … ”
    – Barack Obama

“You’ve been hoodwinked. You’ve been had. You’ve been took. You’ve been led astray, led amok. You’ve been bamboozled.” – Malcolm X

  114. We need a website or a blog or something to point journalists, and primary voters to that will highlight all the times BO has copied, or stolen someone else’s words, ideas etc…

    words matter- Deval Patrick

yes we can- United Farm Workers

Infrastructure Bank – Hillary Rodham Clinton July 2007

    Hoodwinked and bambozeled- Malcolm X

    and so many more!

  115. Everyone, get the word out. Wisconsin can go big our way with some of this. I’ve contacted the Milwaukee stations (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX) and NBC seems to indicate they may run a piece on it.

Here is a list of Wisconsin Newspapers….

  116. I love it….

The Obama campaign immediately struck back with a document headlined: “Here are a couple of places Clinton freely borrowed rhetoric from Obama.” Among the examples are Clinton’s use of Obama’s signature chant “fired up and ready to go” in Davenport, Iowa, and later her echoing of his rally cry, “Yes, we can!”

Uhmmm… did he come up with “Yes, we can???”

uh, that would be no, he did not.

  117. Evidently the Obama camp doesn’t understand the concept of satire (re: Clinton using Yes, we can) or a verbal “dig”.

  118. Obama steals 2 more times from Edwards:

On Saturday, the Boston Globe caught Obama red-handed after the new Democratic front-runner stole words from Edwards. Obama announced that “we shouldn’t just be respecting wealth in this country — we should be respecting work,” suspiciously similar to Edwards’s line in 2004: “we’re going to reward work, not just wealth.” Obama also joked about commercials about sexual-performance drugs that “have all these people running around in the fields” — not unlike Edwards’s 2004 joke about the same drugs: “Take it, and the next day you and your spouse will be skipping through the fields.”

  119. I just got online and am catching up on the 10 million posts here since 11:30 last night, lol.

I have one question about a post from a few hours ago. Someone (Ronald, I believe) mentioned Obama meeting with Rezko’s lawyers in an attempt to push the trial back. Where is that info from?

  120. Deval Patrick says he and Barack Obama share the same mission. What’s that? Being elected the first AA president.

    Give me a break.

    Elect competence. Elect Clinton.

  122. Rotf, the Obama camp is reaching, really reaching. Apparently Obama coined the phrase “fired up ready to go” all by himself.

  123. Oh and also this theft, again from Edwards:

In his campaign announcement speech, Obama said: “I’ve been there [Washington] long enough to know that the ways of Washington must change.” Four years earlier, Edwards, in his announcement speech, said: “I’ve spent enough time in Washington to know how much we need to change Washington.” Coincidence? Consider that Edwards’s 2004 adviser David Axelrod is Obama’s 2008 adviser.

  124. Ohhh…. my head is spinning. All this plagarism. All this copying and the hand job- I mean hand off and oh oh
    oh!
    oh!
    oh!
    Im going to faint!

Will a tall dark man bring me some water? Water? Please? Please?

    HELP ME IM FAINTING.

  125. I LOVE it that the Obama camp’s response is “BUT HILLARY DID IT TOO” which is exactly what his supporters response is and what a 4 year old’s response is.

  126. If you google the origin of “yes we can!” so many sites come up. It is a slogan used all over the place so Obama can’t came ownership. Heck it even shows up as a Pointer Sisters song!

  127. does anyone on here right now speak spanish? i’m trying to email the story to the telemundo and univision affiilates, but their website is in enspanol. i think we need to get this story out in texas… anyone? spanish?

  128. And if I’m not mistaken, he stole the title of his book “The Audacity Of Hope” from a sermon by his pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. 🙄

  129. Wisconsin is coming up TOMORROW!!!!!!!

Newcomers….Everyone, get the word out about Obambi’s plagiarizing (you can reference drudge report, politico, ABC news, or any of the above articles). 130. The Obamablind will try to explain away the Patrick steal. The point is: this isn’t one incidence of plagiarism. IT’S A PATTERN!

  131. The Obama campaign is pathetic in their response to all this….

The things the Obamabots are listing about Hillary “copying” are nothing more than cliches and phrases used by many in speeches by many politicians(turning the page, bring the country together). Other comments are “digs” at opponants (yes we can) or a way to reference opponants comments in her own speech to make a distinction, not wholesale copying of the others speeches. Big, big difference to what Obama has done.

The Obamabots are laughable. The DU is having a meltdown over this whole plagiarism issue.

  132. I really hope the media doesn’t buy the idea that Hillary stole from Obama in her speeches. It would be just like them to decide to be what they call “fair” for once and show both his plagiarism and then hit Hillary with this whammy!

I hope I’m wrong but they have a habit of ignoring anything negative about him.

  133. I’m almost tempted to poke my head into DU just to see, but I’ve been detoxed there for over a month now and I don’t want to start up again.

  134. Kaffeen, of course the big media is trying to minimize it to protect their candidate. Fortunately, these days there are so many other outlets for these stories to get out.

  135. Just like not being accountable to his voting record is a pattern.

Just like his intentional vagueness is a pattern

  136. But I can take a guesstimate as to what’s happening.

Someone has a “Obama plagiarizes!” thread and someone starts an “Hillary plagiarizes!” thread in response. And so on and so forth and god I don’t miss that place.

  137. OH he’ll come back with some sly little thing to say about it like ‘it was “bone-headed” of me to forget to say I was quoting my good friend Deval…

It was bone-headed of me to buy that BIG house from Rezko…

It was bone-headed of me to hit the wrong button.

It was bone-headed of me to vote present.

It was bone-headed of me to say I might have been for the war, if I was a senator, when I was against the war.

    WHO WANTS A BONE-HEADED PRESIDENT???
    Dont we have that already?

  138. Look, it doesn’t matter how serious the press/media take this. It doesn’t matter what Obambi’s response is. The important thing is this gets reported (in anyway possible). That will put a big ???? out there. Who is this guy? Is what he says true? et al…..

The average viewer will “get” this. So….with Wisconsin around the corner, here is my last repost of this. They will go to YouTube and view it. It will make a point….

  139. Tiny Dancer, they are panicked over there. People will know the difference between entire chunks of speeches and policies being copied and a line or two used by a politician in a speech to knock or highlight a difference with an opponant.

  140. That’s kind of awesome. Those people never panic.

I have a whole shitlist of posters over there who I respected at one time that I never, ever want to hear from again. Toxic.

Yes we can – copy our policies off the smart girl in the election.

  141. And didn’t someone on this board report the other day that Obama has now borrowed Hillary’s plan to meet with military advisors to come up with the best plan for troop withdrawal from Iraq?

  142. kaffeen: i couldnt get the email lionks for the tv stations to work for me… i found another link and have contacted the abc affiliates in wi…

  143. Just got back froma week vacation. I need to be brought up to speed, first is Davide Shuster back on MSNBC, second, how is the fund raising going, and last who is in and who is out ( I saw that Patti Doyle left the campaign).
I looked at RCP today and HRC needs to do well in WI, and win OH, and TX(by sizeable margin). So can someone tell me what I have missed??? THANKS!

  144. kaffeen is right to get this out to local WI press right away before the news cycle starts to cover the alternate angle of bickering between the campaigns as to who plagiarized more (of course, Obama’s campaign will incite this because they’re like 4 year olds).

also, big media doesn’t want to get scooped by Drudge, esp Drudge headline…

  145. Hillary’s campaign is getting the word out:

  146. Phase 2 – DENIAL

“I know Sen. Clinton has used words of mind as well. I don’t think that is something that workers here are concerned about,” he said, adding that “I’m sure I should have” given credit to Patrick. I really don’t think this is too big of a deal,” Obama said.

that was fast. I cant wait for Phase 3- ANGER

  147. This from AP…

Obama Says Borrowed Lines Not a Big Deal

By NEDRA PICKLER – 8 minutes ago

NILES, Ohio (AP) — Barack Obama says he probably should have given his friend the governor of Massachusetts credit for using his lines over the weekend.

A spokesman for Hillary Rodham Clinton says that Obama plagiarized Gov. Deval Patrick. Spokesman Howard Wolfson says that raises questions about the premise of Obama’s candidacy — his rhetorical skills.

Obama says that’s going too far. He says he really doesn’t think it’s a big deal to use Patrick’s words because they share ideas all the time.

  148. DU people are bringing out every instance where Hillary said a line in a speech previously said by Obama. Again, that’s hardly surprising as he is her opponant.

There is a WI Public Policy WI poll out. I don’t know if this is a legitimate pollster so I dont’ know if I should post it.

  149. I will write major newspapers. Usually, way it works in more rural states is you get local paper and you get one of the larger ones. Which are the large papers in Wisconsin. Ditto on V

Im holding out for “stolen” or even “copied.”

    but I might faint first…

  152. BTW, I was trying to post some links to news stories about this, but Hillaryis44 was temporarily knocked offline….

Looks like WaPo, CBS, Time, Charlotte Observer, and WSJ are picking it up (example from WSJ)….

    blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/02/18/war-over-words/?mod=googlenews_wsj

  153. from Craig Crawford’s Trailmix –

“In a rare and much-heralded policy address last week, Obama attempted to get specific on economics but the details turned out to be so reminiscent of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s proposals that an aide to Republican nominee-to-be John McCain stepped in to cry foul. “He basically took Clinton’s words and Clinton’s policies and called them his own,” McCain economic advisor Kevin Hassett said.”

I think the Clinton campaign needs to tie the Patrick plagiarism with these kinds of copy-cat policy statements and a cohesive narrative emerges that Obama is a fake.

  154. kaffeen, did you read the last line of the CBS link you gave? Vaughn Ververs ends it with a snarky, What’s next, controversy over McCain’s “no new taxes” promise?

    Oh, I just love MSM.

  155. … well dont get us started on the “no new taxes”

I dont think there is anything stupider he could say… but lets focus on the empty suit.

  156. Piper from Taylor Marsh –

    I feel a new limerick coming on…

There once was a man named Barack,
    Whose events thousands would flock,

And his supporters had gone into shock!

  157. meiyingsu @8:10: perhaps thats why the Stopper is there. Then again this would not be the first time pushed a negative story line would it.

  158. Dear Friends,

I have just read and signed the petition: “Presidential Debate – Women’s issues and sexism in the media coverage of the 2008 election”.

Please take a moment to read about this important issue, and join me in signing the petition. It takes just 30 seconds, but can truly make a difference. We are trying to reach 1000 signatures – please sign here: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/5/presidential-debate—womens-issues-and-sexism-in-the-media-coverage-of-the-2008-election

Once you have signed, you can help even more by asking your friends and family to sign as well.

    Thank you! Tim

  159. Hi, I’m new here, though I’ve been lurking for awhile and enjoying the comments.

I just read this piece by Tom Watson about Obama’s faux “Millenial generation” credentials which really hit the spot for me. I’m a Hillary supporter (obviously) but slightly closer in age to BO than to Hillary and I’ve been wondering for awhile now why Obambi is being touted as the “youthful” candidate.

    http://tomwatson.typepad.com/tom_watson/

  160. Heres the Fox story on the plagerism:
    youdecide08.foxnews.com/2008/02/18/clinton-obama-camp-exchange-war-of-just-words/

  161. I didn’t think it would gain traction. It’s like wildfire now. I wonder if it’ll hit CNN and network news.

You know the saying – if it’s not on TV, it didn’t happen.

  162. this is the kind of juvenile mistake that I’ve been expecting the OBama campaign to make all along 😀 good things he’s the “frontrunner” so that at least the media is willing to pick it up 😀

  163. Does this sound familiar….

    Biden was also accused of plagiarizing portions of his speeches, notably those of British Labour leader Neil Kinnock and US Senator Robert F. Kennedy. Biden was forced out of the Presidential race after the Michael Dukakis campaign released a video showing Biden using one of Kinnock’s speeches without properly attributing it. Biden called the charges “much ado about nothing;

    Now…

Obama was also accused of plagiarizing portions of his speeches, notable Deval Patrick among others. Obama was forced out of the Presidential race after the Hillary Clinton campaign released videos showing Obama using many of Patrick’s speeches without properly attributing it. Obama says “No Big Deal”.

  164. Don’t forget in addition to his “Patrick Plagiarism”,
there is this from Willie Brown about Obama using JFK’s speechwriter
    (youtubedotcom/watch?v=-Cftxud79M4), as well as this,
Obama’s central argument against the “experience” question.
    (at end / youtubedotcom/watch?v=PmfHGPZZ1-Y).

Time to bring down this house of cards!

  165. Since everyone is watching that same YouTube video, we should also post in the commentaries and counter every pro-Obama/anti-Hillary comments.

  166. “Obama responded that it’s a weak case to accuse him of plagiarism.

“Lets see. I’ve written two books, wrote most of my speeches, so I think putting aside the question that you just raised in terms of whether my words are my own, I think that would be carrying it too far,” he told reporters.”

HAHA. He’s getting angrY!!!!!! watch him blow a fuse 😀

  167. This is crazy it’s all over, I expected it to hang out here for a few days and die down be a running joke, but not much more. Kind of cool.

Now if they’d only have picked up on so many other things.

  168. Speaking of two books, how old was the Plagiarist when he wrote his biography? Wasn’t he still in his 30’s?

What kind of ego does a person have to think he’s so great that his life is so complete and accomplished in his 30s?

  169. filbertsf, he also faked a lot of names and events in his books.

btw, who the hell writes a story about their life for just winning a stupid senate seat?

  170. TinyD, Daily Show isn’t going to cover this. DS is about mocking the media coverage now. Jon will mock things the candidates say, but I don’t think he’ll go after the Great Plagiarist… his base are Jon’s base.

  171. btw, who the hell writes a story about their life for just winning a stupid senate seat?

Exactly. This guy’s got an inflated ego. What should concern us all is the simliarity btw the Plagiarist’s ego and Bush’s.

I want someone humble and hardworking, damnit!

  172. Alright – let’s open that pandora’s box of exaggerations and even fabrications in his book (ie. RNC talking points that Divabunny posted earlier gop.com/media/PDFs/040907Research3.pdf ; apparently, Obama is also a fiction writer in addition to being a plagiarist:

    MJS’ early post:
“Obama responded that it’s a weak case to accuse him of plagiarism.

“Lets see. I’ve written two books, wrote most of my speeches, so I think putting aside the question that you just raised in terms of whether my words are my own, I think that would be carrying it too far,” he told reporters.”

  173. Axlerod probably wrote it and has his candidates just tweak it here and there for themselves. Sort of like buying a generic term paper in college. Wouldn’t that be a hoot if he got his degree under false pretenses.

  174. Yipee! Wow,leave here for the morning and come back to this.

So in response he is NOW saying he wrote his own speeches….hello no….you copied somebody else’s speech.

We knew it all along .. empty suit, empty promises, empty speeches.

Poof .. he’s going to implode — without those stolen speechs he is just NOTHING.

JohnMcCain called him on this last week though .. regarding the fact that his economic plan was just Hillary’s doneup in a fancy obamabow(tm)

We say they are just words .. but the fact that he had to even steal them without any ideas of his own. Nuff said.

  175. LOL…so he admits that he should have credited Patrick. Why not full discloser and admit that he should have credited Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Hillary, John Edwards…etc…etc…etc…

  176. Here is a definition I picked up when I googled Apt Phrase:

“If you use an author’s original and distinctive term or phrase without citation, it is plagiarism.”

That makes it quite clear. It’s also true that even if you quote another author without citation who had also quoted without citation, you are still guilty of plagiarism. CNN is definitely wrong in excusing Obama’s plagiarism. The material was not “adapted”. It was plagiarized.

    politicalscience.concordia.ca/plagiarism/apt.html

  177. It’s interesting to see were the plagiarism story isn’t getting attention, like HuffPost where they just won’t upgrade it from their No. 3 story, even though it’s at the top of Drudge, Politico, and many others.

Daily Kos has one small diary the Obamabots are avoiding like the plague.
Let the obfuscation begin. Matthews will be on later, and dollars to donuts he either melds it to what the BO camp is now calling in a press release Hill’s copying of BO, or he’ll deviate into something else, or ignore it as much as possible.

  178. oh boy..wonder if this run up Matthews leg or spine. Of course as a former speech writer he’ll come up with some cover for his favorite new boytoy.

  179. i can not wait to see if hardball and/or tucker cover this? and IF they do…i cant wait to see HOW they cover it!!!

now that everyone else is making of issue of this…how can they come one and try to act like its a NON issue, like bho is trying to do….????

anyone read wonkette today? that chart they put up was friggin hilarious!

  180. If Oprah endorses them then they are either a fraud, a plagiarist or an out right con man. She has quite a record at picking people to support.

  181. Gone international now…

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/us_elections/article3392913.ece

Hillary Clinton’s campaign today accused Barack Obama of “plagiarising” a fellow Democrat’s speech when he delivered an address on Saturday night, an explosive accusation on the eve of tomorrow’s Wisconsin primary.

The allegation came as it emerged that Karl Rove, President Bush’s former chief strategist, has been involved in putting together an attack plan for Barack Obama amid a growing Republican belief that he will win the Democratic nomination.

  182. Now would be a good time for the campaign to point out BO’s main rallying cry comes from Bob the Builder.

  183. About 75 members of the Republican National Committee were shown a Power Point presentation at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel outlining the main attacks that should be used against Mr Obama. Chief among them would be a focus on his inexperience and lack of qualification to be Commander-in-chief, according to the printed version of the presentation, first obtained by the political website Politico.com.

The third point stated that against Mr Obama, Republicans can be confident when it comes to “issues” — a clear reference to religious and values voters and signalling that Mr Obama’s past and self-admitted drug use will inevitably be used against him.

In his first memoir ‘Dreams from My Father’, published in 1995 before he entered politics, Mr Obama admitted to using cocaine and marijuana in his youth. A top Clinton campaign official was fired in December for highlighting Mr Obama’s drug use, although several of her surrogates have also raised the issue of his past cocaine use.

  184. @dot: get out of my head!!! i was thinking the exact same thing! there is no way tweety can downplay this! now way! like you said…former speechwriter…

  185. Thursday night Hillary should use say Senator, you are no Jack Kennedy and end by saying I borrowed that line from the late Senator Lloyd Benson. (have to keep the voters of Texas happy)

  186. Obama is a great role model for the youth of this country. He has faced down two of the great temptation of youth and adulthood, i.e. recreational drugs and plagerism. In each case, he has succumbed to tempatation.

That is how the Republican attack machine will present it. The message will resonate with voters because it touches them in their lives and reflects some of the challenges they face and worry about in their own families.

  187. I love this plagiarism stuff. Could this be the beginning of the end of the Obama lead in Wisconsin, or even better, his campaign?

  188. buttttt folks .. its not just the one speech it is his WHOLE campaign. Running on these stolen speechs, stolen phrases, stolen words.

He is seeding false hope and promises. Even setting up people to faint so he can offer holy water. I said next…it will be CPR to a heart attack victim .. all staged

They are at this moment trying to steal the votes from Florida and Michigan

    These people are dangerous.

This campaign has been run like a movie production. The ending is simply that, the end. Nothing happens afterward and if anyone expects he would accomplish jack doo as COC..well I got an island right here in middle Tennessee to sell you.

  189. Tiny Dancer,

“We are the ones we’ve been waiting for”

    blackaids.org/ShowArticle.aspx?pagename=ShowArticle&articletype=RESOURCE&articleid=382&pagenumber=1

  190. rjk: not bad at all. It will resonate with voters. And it will drive Tapps, Smitty and the rest of the GSS to distraction.

  191. Okay guys. I read this NYT article about BO embellishing some of the events in his life when it was first published back in October. It didn’t garner much attention then.

So not only is Obomba a plagiarist, he’s also a bit of an exaggerator.

Some say he has taken some literary license in the telling of his story. Dan Armstrong, who worked with Mr. Obama at Business International Corporation in New York in 1984 and has deconstructed Mr. Obama’s account of the job on his blog, analyzethis.net, wrote: “All of Barack’s embellishment serves a larger narrative purpose: to retell the story of the Christ’s temptation. The young, idealistic, would-be community organizer gets a nice suit, joins a consulting house, starts hanging out with investment bankers, and barely escapes moving into the big mansion with the white folks.”

In an interview, Mr. Armstrong added: “There may be some truth to that. But in order to make it a good story, it required a bit of exaggeration.”

  192. @ronald: when i read your post, i thought it was mine for a sec…. you know what they say… “great minds…”

see barry…. see how easy it is to give credit? i didnt say you know what i say about great minds…

what an arrogrant a**hole! he must really think that all american are as stupid as the obamabots. he mustve thought that bc the msm gave him a pass on rezco, that they would let this one pass as well… maybe not! my fingers are crossed!

  193. AmericanGal, I looked looked up that poll on pollster.com. That poll days ago had Obama up by about the same margin, which was a bigger lead than anyone else. I think the race is relatively close there. The polls showing Obama up 4 and 5 points are probably most accurate.

  194. filbertsf,

THe NYTimes had a similar story recently about his drug use… apparently, no one from high school or college could corroborate any of it and they posed the idea, rather delicately, that the whole drug thing was made up. Sort of a delivered from temptation and Im as black as you story.

  195. This from some news station in GA…

Obama Admits Borrowing Lines in Speech

NILES, Ohio (AP) — Barack Obama says he probably should have given his friend the governor of Massachusetts credit for using his
    lines over the weekend.

A spokesman for Hillary Rodham Clinton says that Obama plagiarized Gov. Deval Patrick. Spokesman Howard Wolfson says that raises questions about the premise of Obama’s candidacy — his rhetorical skills.

Obama says that’s going too far. He says he really doesn’t think it’s a big deal to use Patrick’s words because they share ideas all
    the time.

  196. “there is no way tweety can downplay this! now way!”

“Good evening and welcome to Hardball. Today Hillary Clinton’s campaign “cried” plagiarism at Barack Obama, “clawing” at Obama and “claiming” that he “riffed off of ” words “once used” in a speech by Massachusetts Governor Duvall Patrick.
Is it true, or an attempt to detract from Clinton’s struggling campaign?
Joining me to talk about it are Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post, and Tucker Carlson of….. oh yeah, MSNBC’s “Tucker”.
Tucker, first to you. Isn’t this much to do about nothing when we have things like the former President Bill Clinton out there attacking Obama supporters physically?”

  197. FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE

“Mr. Obama’s account of his younger self and drugs, though, significantly differs from the recollections of others who do not recall his drug use. That could suggest he was so private about his usage that few people were aware of it, that the memories of those who knew him decades ago are fuzzy or rosier out of a desire to protect him, or that he added some writerly touches in his memoir to make the challenges he overcame seem more dramatic.”

I put quotations around it so everyone would know, I did not write this, I am merely copying it from the NY times and referencing the link below.

  198. I am reposting something Ann posted early this morning in the Wisconsin Heat thread. Do you see that Obama I credited the source!!
We all may be able to use some of her observations about Patrick and his campaign of Hope when we run into voters leaning to Obama while making phone calls. Since he has been in office 2 years and HOPE has equaled SQUAT

    Ann Says:

    February 18th, 2008 at 4:20 am
Agree, plagarism is not right angle…..right angle is that we are being sold the same product by David Axelrod TWICE.

Here’s how I posted it in Politico

BO is the new and improved “national version” of a standard David Axelrod product:

AA Man that isn’t too AA, well spoken, articulate. Chanting hope, hope, hope.

He was successful getting it sold in MA so he thought he’d hit the national stage.

I live in MA and admit that I bought the state version and voted for Patrick. He has been a HUGE disapointment ever since. If I trade up and buy the national version……do I get a free set of ghinso knives? Maybe I should take that up with Axelrod. Anyone have his number?

Anyone who doesn’t believe this to be true should read this Boston Globe article……it should all sound very, very familiar.

From the Boston Globe last week…

Bay State voters know their limits
    By Peter S. Canellos
    February 12, 2008

WASHINGTON – In 2006, Deval Patrick ran for governor of Massachusetts on what his consultant, David Axelrod, called “the politics of aspiration.” Patrick talked about hope – a lot. And when people said they were just words, he quoted the Declaration of Independence to upbraid those who think words don’t matter. He told voters “Yes, we can,” and later, more broadly, “Together, we can.” These words had a lot of power, as it turned out, propelling Patrick to a landslide. They echoed words that had been used by Barack Obama – also advised by Axelrod – in his record-setting Senate race in Illinois in 2004.

Last week, many voters in Massachusetts heard some of those words again at a massive rally for Obama’s presidential campaign, joined by Patrick and the state’s two senators, John Kerry and Ted Kennedy. But the next day, the people of Massachusetts went out and voted for the candidate of experience.
While voters in much of the country were becoming enthralled by Obama, who continues to gain momentum, Massachusetts voters struck a discordant note. Hillary Clinton beat Obama by 15 points in the Bay State, almost as big a margin as in New York, which she has represented in the Senate for seven years.

The reason may well be in those 2006 ballots, and the sense of disappointment that some people feel about Patrick’s administration. And the Massachusetts result may carry words of warning for candidate Obama or, perhaps, President Obama, about the limits of the politics of hope.

Deval Patrick and Barack Obama are not similar personalities. Patrick is friendly and approachable; he’s a good listener with an unassuming manner. Obama, by contrast, is stately and imposing, with the posture of a Roman senator. He stands out in a crowd, while Patrick blends in.

But they have things in common as well, two black men with inspiring personal stories and unimpeachable academic credentials who are upbeat about America. And, as Axelrod discovered, there is great power in those stories and the hopes they engender. For some, it’s a validation of the American dream. For others, it’s a truly colorblind society. But for most, it’s a rejection of the sordid compromises of political life – a chance to choose someone who, for so many reasons, does not represent “the system.”

Except that when it comes to the actual substance of issues, there’s no special agenda attached to the politics of hope. Both Patrick in 2006 and Obama this year have websites full of positions on the issues, but they’re not easily distinguishable from those of other Democrats. The issues tend to get lost in the language of hope, perhaps because they sound and feel routine, and don’t strike an inspirational chord.
Instead, the candidates talk about creating a mandate for change that will supersede all the petty disputes that clog up government. Then, presumably, a lot of shared priorities will get through.

But as Patrick has shown, without an agenda that stands out from those of other candidates, it’s hard to show whether real changes have occurred. It’s not that most people think Patrick has been an unusually ineffective governor; it’s that he’s been precisely the usual kind of governor, and that’s his problem.

He got off on the wrong foot when his administration bought a Cadillac as his official car; other governors have had similar missteps, but standards are higher for those promising change. Then he pleased many constituents by restoring services cut by his predecessor. But like many of his predecessors, he quickly ran afoul of a powerful House speaker. A lot of negative vibes started emanating from Beacon Hill. Not uncommon – but no change, either.

  199. Now we know why MichelleObamabotuslism says this is Barry’s only run.

She evidently was at least smart enough to realize your past will eventually catch up with you.

I think this is the exact primer for Rezco..I still want to know if he did indeed meet with Rezco lawyers. If so this could be a major BOOBOO. One that cannot stay in the closet.

    Karma baby

  200. LMAO look at this Obamabot’s comment…boy they really ARE in panic mode 😀

    comment:
“I am crying! We have worked so hard! I hope this campaign can withstand what is happening at this moment! I don’t want to discuss it on the blog but I am sick that there are people out there that are trying to take down OBAMA! “

  201. Kafeen,
The point is watch how BO’s promoters & defenders fuzzy this up in the coming days, obfuscate it and attempt to deviate from it – which is all that can be done since Obama’s dead to rights on this one, with easily understandable video to prove it.

On MSNBC this morning, they already had Andrea Mitchell on with Scarborough and after showing Patrick & Obama speeches (no audio), just said BO was being accused, they quickly jumped to the story about Pres. Clinton and his run-in on the campaign trial yesterday, which they then sat on for well over a minute, talking about what a detriment he is to Hill’s campaign..
So they were trying to get out in front of it already.

  202. @rjk: dont you know it! can you imagine… harvard law review, every single speech, evey single fact in his book…

  203. The above is the official RNC line of attack, which they are willing to present in writing in a quasi public setting. The unoffical line of attack will press all the buttons, including Rezko, race and anything else they have–and they say they have it. McCain may be old and angry, but no one can ever doubt that he is a patriot and man of character, and someone who is qualified to be commander in chief. The Democrats will end up snatching defeat from the jaws of victory if they do not choose Hillary. It is as simple as that.

  204. Kafeen,
Whoops, forgot – and sure, you hope for all the local coverage you can get. But usually local stations take their cue from network.
If network gets off the story within a day you’ll never see it locally after that…

  205. the drug use could be quite useful. It’s obvious the media wants to kill Hillary team if they even touch it.

Would it not be hilarious to find out that he embellished that as well. I would rather it be found out he was the biggest drug user on campus…but if it turns out he was quiet about and then made big boastful tales in his book to make himself look suave.

well even more reason that you cannot believe anything this guy says.

He is a liar and it’s not just little stuff. This speaks volume about his character.

He will say anything to get a vote.

  206. @bluedem & kaffeen: i get why joe does what he does, but its almost weird how andrea mitchell has it in for hrc. she makes me sick.

that may be what those two do, but there is no way tweety can cover it like that. he is a former speechwriter!

  207. hillfans, next monday would be great for the next money bomb. let’s make sure we post the next money bomb on the hillaryclinton.com blog and to other sites. YAY!!!!

  208. OH he is just too much!

(I am copying this from Foxnews) 😉
    BO:
“Look, I was on the stump and he had suggested we use these lines. I thought they were good lines,” Obama said during a tour of a titanium plant in Ohio. Asked if he should have given Patrick credit, Obama said: “I’m sure I should have. Didn’t this time.”

“I’m happy to give Deval credit, as I give to a lot of people for spurring all kinds of ideas,” Obama said. “But I think it’s fair to say that everything that we’ve been doing and generating, the excitement and the interest people have in the election, is based on the core belief in me that we need change in America.”

belief in me. ME ME ME ME!

    ick.

  209. Maybe Oprah can have a show about people who make up facts for their books and steal from other authors. The guest list could include James Frey and Barack Obama.

  210. @ronald: barf!
and it makes me ill that he is totally downplaying this. it is a big deal to mislead people! the fact that he doesnt is an even bigger issue. the good thing for us is that the longer he has to defend himself, the less time he spends giving one of “his’ speeches!

  211. Oh, and Blue, local affiliates can and do choose their own programming. I know many affiliates in various places that I have lived that got into some very big feuds with their network parent (and the affiliates always won out).

  212. Just look already at this douche Sam Stein over at HuffPost, calling it a “nasty Clinton-Obama fight”, melding together the two sides…
“The two Democratic presidential campaigns traded accusations on Monday that each candidate had lifted language from other politicians,”,
the attempts at lessening it’s importance,
“The debate – aided, in part, by a relatively slow news day – culminated in dueling conference calls at 11 am on Monday morning.”

Reminds me of the opening on the HBO show The Wire last night:

    “A lie ain’t a side of the story. It’s just a lie.”

  213. Barack Obama visited a titanium plant in Ohio today where he spoke about job loss and the economy. However, he could not evade questions about alleged plagiarism and his speeches.

  214. @rjk: dont forget jessica seinfeld!!! she’s a big fat plagiarize-er too!!! remember she sent oprah all the louboutins after oprah ahd her on the show to pimp her book? the book she copied from some other lady??? the book that ms seinfeld is being sued for now?

  215. bambi already shifting responsibility .. “patrick suggested we use these lines”

he has no character and they left his backbone out as well.

is this the kind of nut we need in the white house..NO..we already have had enough of stupidness and failure to accept responsibility.

NO TO OBAMA. NO TO ORCA AND HER WHOLE WHALE PROJECT.

  216. As with Giuliani, sometimes it takes a while for things to sink in. But, when they finally fo they have a huge impact. We have two memes now going against Obama: Cult of Personality and Phoniness. Flip flopping on the public financing pledge and now this plagiarism charge address the issue of phoniness. Plagiarism is as wasy to understand charge. I don’t think it will change the minds of many commiitted Obama supporters. But it might get people who haven’t been paying a whole lot of attention and who are on the fence to think again about this guy.

  217. divabunny, not that it matters, but Jessica is a big Hillary supporter (financially).

I don’t like dissing any HRC supporters.

  218. Poor Obambi….it’s so tough to always be sooo misunderstood whenever he does an “oops”. We just aren’t seeing this the “right way”, eh? This is all a big misunderstanding, eh? It’s not my fault, the other guy made me do it. Blah blah….sure wish he would just stop whining and take responsibility for his actions (oh wait, he doesn’t really have any original actions).

  219. YES!!!

    Its on NPR….

and Im not quoting directly… I just heard it.

‘Obama answers charges that he borrowed speech lines from his good friend Deval Patrick’.

  220. Camp Obama desparate now saying Hillary stole his Yes, We Can slogan.
Number one it is not his slogan, it belongs to César Chávez (Si Se Puede, yes we can)
Number two Hillary changed it to Yes We Will

The more they try to fight it and twist the facts the more air time it will get.

  221. Obama made a big mistake in his response by saying that it is not a big deal he plagiarized from Deval Patrick. This will give the story more legs with people discussing whether it is a big deal. He should have said it was an oversight and he was sorry that he did that. By trying to dismiss it in this cavalier way he is adding more fuel to fire. Students are thrown out of college and authors are stigmatized, and politicians fold when they plagiarize. It also shows repeatedly when confronted with misdoings Obama never takes responsibility for his actions and words.

  222. not that it matters to the Orca’s financial situation but I wonder how one goes about finding her ratings for the last 6 months. I bet that they have taken a dive. I would never watch her show again. I will never watch anything on MSNBC nor will I turn to CNN except for some breaking disaster news. I would imagine their ratings have fallen as well.

As “journalists” I do not see how any network can responsibly not report this as legit. However, the BM has been totally absent from class on this whole campaign.

I suppose Big Media has been transported up to the ObamaBotulismSpaceCraft(tm) and given a Obamalobotomy. I swear they act completely taken over. Pat Buchanon must have had his holy water and crucifix .. also Craig Crawford.

Frank Luntz and the whole MSNBC team were first hustled away and then CNN was whisked out of here.

Remember those funny lights over Texas just a few weeks ago…most likely some newspaper editors.

  223. Oh the student’s will understand this (plagiarism). My wife is a Professor, they are always *trying* to pull this stuff on her. Of course, they always cry when they get the big ole’ F bomb. In fact, some of Obambi’s retorts sound *exactly* like theirs.

  224. Obama didn’t just steal a few lines from Patrick.

He also plagiarized his platform. Both the rationale and the words were the same in both campaigns. That’s the point.

  225. They are saying we stole Yes We Can, Si Se Puede. They stole it from a historic union that supports HRC and this should offend Latinos and Dolores Huerta, the remaining founder of the UFW. Ugh. They are something else.

  226. yes, Chavez grandson would help close the deal.

also, Hillary was the first to use AllFiredUp out in Iowa. I saw it on some of her signs out there.

  227. Alright, I’ve fallen down on my duties. I will take my lumps accordingly. So, I’m setting up a money bomb site. I have two choices:

    1. The anniversary of the income tax amendment ratification; or
    2. The anniversary of a SCOTUS opinion allowing for affirmative action.

In the next ten minutes, I need feedback.

    Type away….

  228. Yes We Can was definitely not coined by Obama camp. I’ve heard of that Spanish variation Si Se Puede forever.

  229. mj, don’t worry no one takes the Obama spin on this seriously. Journalists of all people know. They will get fired if they took a whole paragraph out of another reporter’s article.

  230. I voet for Chelsea’s birthday…. people could donate $27.44.

I think she is 27, no? dont quote me on that I didn’t think of it first
    😛

  231. email to NPR talk of the nation

    talk@npr.org

I watched Senator Obama’s speech on CNN and I was struck with the transparency of the plagerism. Today seeing the two videos of Deval Patrick and Barack Obama side by side on you tube I am stunned.

I do not understand how this man has gotten such a free ride. He has borrowed phrasing from Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr and John F Kennedy and now he is flat out plagerising Deval Patrick. He has repeatedly put forth Hillary Clinton’s proposals as his own, most recently presenting her infrastructure bank idea as his. It took a spokesman from McCain’s campaign to call his bluff. This sort of thing was NOT tolerated when senator Biden first ran for president in 1988. Why are there so many exceptions being made for this man? The media’s hands-off fawing approach is getting to be too much.

I hate to say it, but I dont think a smooth talking charismatic white candidate could get away with this much phoney baloney. Not even Reagan got such a free ride.

    Ronald in Boston MA

  232. Oh glory. That headline. I hope it is true. I am getting sick of obama and his androids. This reminds me of the obamabots. This is via futurama:

    youtube.com/watch?v=v-J2Q634j-4

  233. ^^or was it “Turn the heat Up”

I don’t think simple phrases are the issue here.

It is the way his whole campaign is built around smarmy speeches of hope, change, promise etc. Then we find those ideas or not even his OWN ideas. He simply stole them and platformed the campaign and his whole image around them.

    He is simply a fraud.

  234. “si se puede” is the slogan for the united farm workers who back hillary!!! so why wouldnt she feel comfortable using that phrase???

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%AD_se_puede

  235. “A lie ain’t a side of the story. It’s just a lie.”

blue dem, the wire is the only reason i even watch tv any more 🙂 unless you have ondemand and have seen it already.. just wait until next weeks episode O_O

  236. Umm excuse me Mr Obama camp. First time I ever heard the phrase, “Yes We Can,” I was watching Bob the Builder on Nickelodeon with my 5 year old daughter. The nerve of this man has no bounds. He is a thief and a phony. He steals Hillary’s economic plan, other politicians words and platforms and calls it his own. He should be ashamed of himself.

  237. Como se dice en espanol PLAGIARIST? Yo busco por la contesta en diccionario. Hay dos palabras:

    Pirata

    Plagiaro

Perhaps someone more fluent in the language can give a better definition.

  238. The dvd for Bender’s Big Score has like an hour of hypnotoad. Not that I’ve sat and watched an hour of hypnotoad or anything ::whistles::

  239. Chelsea’s birthday it will be. I thought the tax day would be good bc 👿 has stated he WILL raise taxes. And affirmative action bc women should be included. But Chelsea’s birthday has a good emotive context. Plus we can get a good photo of Hillary, Chelsea and maybe Hillary’s mother. Can someone do a quick google search for a photo and email me at okieatty@gmail.com while I set it up please????

  240. For those who live in MA, how is Deval Patrick polling? Is he popular?

I remembered after he took office there was a controversy involving his use of limosines on taxpayer money. I also recall reading that he asked for patience.

  241. I just Love the hypnotoad so much that I am surprised I didn’t think about the connection earlier. Futurama is one of my fav shows ever……..I should have remembered. lol

  242. Harvard, Sens. Kerry and Kennedy endorse “plaigarism” as the right thing to do in America!

Carline kennedy, maria shriver and Claire mcCaskill by listening to their child’s desires are saying it is ok to “Plaigarise” as inspirational.

Oh no American students…that is why we will need India and China to help us out. We will be stealing from them soon by telling our children to forget about studying math and science! Just use somebody’s else words and HARD WORKS and we will do fine!

IVY LEAGUE SCHOOLING FOR DUMB AMERICAN kids of the elite class!

  243. filbertsf, you make a good point there. Now that Obambi has identified himself as being closely tied to Patrick, it would be good to find his flaws as well. Hopefully, the campaign is playing this like a chess match and is three steps ahead.

  244. Anybody has University of WI mailing list? As everyone knows, plagiarism is a serious matter. If a student does that, he would be kicked out for sure! What kind of example BHO wants to set? Empty words, drugs and now plagiarism?

We should send this to as many universities as possible because most of BHO supporters are there.

  245. kaffeen, if Patrick also campaigned on hope and change and Axelrod is using that repackaging that, it’s good to see whether he’s doing/accomplishing it. I wonder how Patrick’s actions matched his words. It’s easier to accomplish things as Gov, not so much as President. There’s more compromises to be made.

  246. Here’s my message for Univision/Teletica:

Barack Obama ha sido plagiar sus discursos y debe admitirlo públicamente. Estoy ofendido de que también robaron “Si Se Puede” de la UFW, que apoya a Hillary Clinton. Ella tiene raíces en nuestra comunidad desde 1972. Él no tiene ni idea de lo que queremos y necesitamos.

  247. Patrick’s actions do not match his promised words. I read a few articles somewhere – that’s reason why MA people don’t like BHO because he is just like Patrick. Seen that, done that, they pass the second chance for “change”.

  248. Thanks, Ron. that post was right on point.

That is what happens when you align yourself with a lame-duck, Obomba.

  249. Thanks for the photos, but I need like awesome love shots of our girls. Keep ’em coming, y’all.

And yes, the amount is $28.44.

  250. Per the National Journal..

Obama also said that the excitement he was generating was his own and not because he had used ideas or language from others.

    Really?

  251. so if you take away the words and the rhetoric fromObama which were all plagiarized, what IS there to be excited about?

his “hot bod”? his youth? His rock star appeal? PFFFT.

nada. zilch. zero. This guy’s appeal is based on lies and distortion.

  252. @okie: there’s only one pic of the three gens… i sent you some more.

@hawk: what did you say???? no habla…

@kaffeen: doncha just wanna smack him??? arrogant a**hole!

  253. A comment on Taylor Marsh:

    I feel a new limerick coming on…

There once was a man named Barack,
    Whose events thousands would flock,
    But then he got sloppy,
    His speeches were copies,
And his supporters had gone into shock!

    ~ Piper

(Look, I can site my source! 😉 )

  254. yeah, the glorying speeches is what his shoot to stardom was. If they are all stolen then his candidacy is empty rhetoric.

  255. why is huffpo calling him duval??? i thought it was deval? do you think its so ppl can youtube the right name and see the video?

Barack Obama has been plagiarizing his speeches and he should admit it publicly. I am offended that he stole “Si Se Puede” from the UFW, that endorsed Hillary Clinton. She has roots in our community from/since 1972. He has no idea what we want or need.

I hope they get my point.

  257. When I was in college, we had this little place on University Avenue that sold reports and class notes from people who had previously taken classes at the University of Florida. I never used it, but it appears that Barry has found his own little shop of copies/plagiarism now.

  258. no orginal ideas = no candidate. The downplay by his campaign indicates serious trouble. They are sweating bullets.

  259. if he is going to plagerize someone else’s speech, you would think he would pick a good one at least.

but isn’t it always that way? The student who copies never gets more than a C.

  260. I’m curious about something. Was Obama known as an orator/charismatic person as a State Senator or was it his 2004 Convention speech that garnered him the reputation?

The plagiarism things should send alarm bells that Axelrod is the puppetmaster.

I’m starting to think that like the Spice Girls, Obama is a manufactured product phenomenon.

  261. filbertsf, the first I ever heard of Obama was after that convention speech. Shortly thereafter, the media began getting hints that he was next wonder boy for the democratic party. He is a manufactured product for sure. Axelrod and others wind him up and watch him go.

  262. Stupid Law Question OkieAtty:

OkieAtty, off topic, I saw two kids get hit by a car today when walking back to my dorm from Italian 2. The car didn’t stop soon enough on ice to stop in time and hit these two girls. They got up, I think fine, but it was loud and seemed painful as hell. But the girl just rolled down her window and appologized, and the 2 girls left, is that a hit and run?

  263. barry and patrick… milli vanilli with axelrod behind the curtain like in the wizard of oz…

i just dont get that in the age of the internet, they thought no one would put 2 and 2 together!

  264. Didn’t Biden drop out when he was charged of plagiarism? We should urge BHO to drop out now because obviously he is a much more moral and honest person than anybody else. I don’t think people should trust him anymore.

  265. Claire McCaskill is a freaking moron saying it is not important that obama stole his speech and the Clintons are wrong to bring it up. Number one the Clintons did not bring it up McCain brought up the charge that he steals his ideas from hillary and ABC brought up the Obama-Patrick speeches.

  266. divabunny, isn’t that type of arrogance like Bush denying that he ever made the link btween Saddam and 9-11? Brazen arrogance.

Obomba will be just another freakin’ Bush.

  267. I think the media narrative should now be:

If Barack Obama “borrowed” these things from Deval Patrick, what else did he “borrow” and from who?

  268. hawk, no. The girls declined to call the police and it’s really up to them. They might have even known the person.

Guy’s I’m having writer’s block. Anything you guys wanna say on there (and yes I’m leaving a comments section for well-wishers.

  269. interesting…just caught two voters being interviewed on FOX…FOX has their reporter traveling all over the country asking voters who they voted for…the husband and wife are Republicans who voted for Obama…when asked who they will be voting for in the Fall, the husband days he will have to look at what the candidates are offering, the wife says she wants the troops to stay in Iraq…so…guess they are planning on sticking with the Repubs…no brainer…

when will the Dems wake up…we are headed for a big disaster if O manages to pull this off…I hope the delegates and DNC are giving close attention to this…

Rhode Island Latino Organizers Plan Statewide Barnstorm for Hillary
Mayor David Cicilline, State Senator Juan Pichardo and Councilman Leon Tejada emphasize Hillary Clinton’s experience and dedication to issues affecting the Latino community
Providence, RI: More than sixty Rhode Island Latino leaders and community members joined Mayor David Cicilline, Sen. Juan Pichardo and Providence Councilman Leon Tejada yesterday to organize a statewide barnstorm for Hillary Clinton. The energy-filled meeting at Ada’s Creations on Broad Street on the city’s south side, organized by local activists Emelda Benitez and Marilyn Cepeda, drew Clinton supporters from across the state who pledged to work over the next two weeks to turn out the Latino vote.

“Latino families are concerned about our economy and the well-being of their families. Hillary Clinton has a plan to put our economy back on track, improve access to quality education for our nation’s children and to support comprehensive immigration reform. She is the best choice for Rhode Island and our nation,” said Mayor David Cicilline.

Senator Juan Pichardo said: “Hillary Clinton has the qualifications and know-how to get things done in Washington and has proven her ability to build consensus among both parties. I will be working together with the community to help ensure Rhode Island Latinos make our voices heard on March 4.”

Sabina Matos of Providence believes Hillary Clinton has the ability to start moving the country in a positive direction the day she takes office. “Like many Rhode Islanders, I believe Hillary Clinton has the strength and qualifications to lead our nation. She also has the only health care plan that will cover every American – an important issue for Latino families.”

Latino community members attending the meeting will be working with hundreds of other supporters to speak to community members, canvas the state and bring Hilary supporters to the polls on primary day.

Any supporters interested in working with the campaign can call (401)751-Hill (4455) or visit the website at http://www.hillaryclinton.com/hq/rhodeisland.

  272. Claire McCaskill lost all her credibility if there was any left! So it’s always fine for BHO to do anything bad, basically he can’t do anything wrong. What kind of logic is that? His supporters are worse than republicans. I can’t stand them! Total nuts.

  273. Hawk: thanks. If plagiarism was all there was to him then plagario works. But because there is far more to his duplicity and what he ultimately aims to steal here is an election with the able assistance of the chicago crew the word pirata does have a certain resonance to it as well.

  274. Apparently it’s “wrong” to bring up anything Obama does “wrong.” It makes us everything from racists to just plain ole party poopers. Patrick and Obama remind me of the two kids I had in class once who turned in identical extra credit papers–1 page response papers to a film or something. I was readin’ em in the middle of the night and all of a sudden I though maybe I was having some sort a wierd deja vu. Then I found the other one and put the two side by side. They were the same. They came into my office and their response was, “but you said we could work together!” My response was “get out now, and quickly!”

  275. It sure would be refreshing to have someone post those two videos on the evening news and not try to “tell people what to think”. Just explain the circumstances and let them make up their own mind. Beyond all the politics I am deeply disturbed that people feel the need to validate their own thoughts by listening to people who have partisan/personal interests.

  276. fillberts et al., I can just about guarantee that there is more of this kind of plagiarism behavior. There’s a personality type that I thing goes with it, too. But it does tend to be a “serial” pattern, at least in my experience as a teacher for some 25 years. And I have found some doozies.

  277. Just heard Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones defending Hillary against the charges that she raised this issue on MSNBC and again on Fox. She set them all straight!

  278. @molly: i’m with you. it speaks to the character of the person that would do that. the other thing that gets me is how he’s handling it…. not even apologetic!

  279. Congresswoman Stephanie tub Jones just ripped O’Donnell another a$$hole on MSNBC when O’Donnell asked why the Clintons were making such a big deal about ‘words’ when she was supposed to be the candidate of solutions.

I’m paraphrasing, but what Steph said, in an indignant and disgusted tone of voice, was that if the campaign and its supporters didn’t bring such information to the media, it would never be reported. “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander,” she said. She also remarked that even if the media didn’t agree with the story, it was their JOB to put the info before the American people. Go Steph!!!!!

  280. He’s never apologized for a freakin’ thing. I am not sure he knows the meaning of the word. I think the dude has some very serious issues which we have discussed before.

  281. Hillary Camp needs defending for bringing up plagiarism? Did anyone attack the person who brought up Biden’s plagiarism?

  282. Stephanie Tubb Jones is a good one to speak out on this. Maxine Waters would be another good one. We need some no nonsense folks to call it for what it is. And poor ole Claire, she just doesn’t get it. Somebody needs her to tell her to start bailin’ while she still can.

  283. continued:

Oooooohhhhhh!!!!!! there is NOTHING like an angry AA woman! I Looooove her! i saw her do the same thing to Tweetie about a month ago and she didn’t back down an inch. (Can’t remember the exact topic).

Stephanie Tub Jones is Cleveland’s first AA congresswoman.

  284. http://www.michaelmedved.com
He is on the air now so email him re the Alice Palmer issue and the Malcolm X quote
    ************
Michael Medved is ALL over this. He openned with this, his show came on at 3pm and he is still going on about it. He is particularly sensitive to this as one of his speeches was cribbed by a professor in Boston. He said that now Obama is a convicted plagerist.

He is also quite disturbed about these lines, ‘we are the ones we have been waiting for’. He is also going on about ‘Camp Obama’ and picking up from his story about the phony fainting from his Friday’s show.

Michael Medved is a right win talk show host from Seattle.

Perhaps, we can give him a hand on this meme re’ ..you’ve been bamboozled, hoodwinked, given the old okie-doke’. This is straight from spike Lee’s Malcolm X. Also, I believe that line, ‘we are the ones we have been waiting for is from Alice Palmer.

  285. WOWIE … rjk1957… so Deval said, sure, we like each other, we can use each others stuff, no problem…anybody got a copy of bo’s economic policy speech? lemme know.

  286. Man, that O’Donnell is so friggin BLATaNT about her pro-BO bias! She’s interviewing another black SD who just switched her support from HRC to BO and asking her why she changed candidates.

Steph needs to call in again and give equal time to the HRC supporters.

Can’t STAND that weird-eyed Tweetie laughing Stepford anchor.

  287. Some of you guys are suggesting we get in bed with some of the worst right-wingers out there. I’m starting to see names and links to nuts on this site just b/c they’re against Obomba.

I understand the my enemy’s enemy is my friend, but I’m not getting into bed with Charles Krauthammer, Michael Medved or Rush Limbaugh or any RW-nuts.

    They are not our friends.

  288. Alice Palmer eh? What a prick. An arrogant one. So thus far he has copied in various manners:

1.) Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez
    2.) Deval Patrick
    3.) Alice Palmer
    4.) Hillary
5.) Bill Clinton (at least he credited him)
    6.) John Edwards

    Am I forgetting any?

  289. If there is nothing wrong with plagiarism then there is nothing wrong with stealing somebody’s money, or their car, or their anything else. Every university in the country will have to rewrite its honor code. Screw that.

  290. kaffeen
iIcaught that too, she kept hesitating as if she was listening from an ear piece being told what to say. She sounded like she had one too many cups of kool aide. She seemed a little out of it.

  291. BTW, Medved was very complimentary of Hillary last week on Larry King. He called her “friendly” and “a decent human being”. They went to law school together…..

  292. Right wingers are not our friends, but they may be “right” on this issue. It transcends party affiliation or ideology.

  293. Most profs I know are really touchy on the issue of plagiarism. We don’t like it. It gets people in serious trouble. It is dishonesty. It is cheating. It reveals some character flaws.

  294. The angle of this story should not be about plagiarism. It should be that Obama is a manufactured star. To accomplish this, we need to focus on the similarity of not only the infamous “just word” speech, but on Patrick’s campaign (with Axelrod at the helm) as well.

Obama’s rise is due to his oratoratory skills and the eloquence of his words. If we can frame this as proof that Obama is just a manufactured figured, that will raise alarm bells, more so than charges of plagiarism.

  295. Plagiarize story LEAD on Situation Room CNN

Obama: “That’s going way too far…”

I am bout to pee in my pants happy!

been reading here for an hour, now this!

    GOOD EVENING ALL! GOOD JOB!!!!!

  296. Stephanie Tubbs did quite well in defending our campaign. I hope the campaign has more people like that to appear on TV.

  297. divabunny

Why does this not shock me. Obama bought his house, I believe from a Doctor and isn’t it odd that much of the Rezko scam invloves hosiptal pension plans.

  298. Let’s see how “friendly” and “complimentary” these RW kooks will be to Hillary when she’s the nominee.

We’ve lived through 8 years of GOP domination of not only DC but radio and TV. I don’t trust or like these guys.

  299. they are so freaking slimy and then they downplay everything so that it makes the clintons look bad for even mentioning anything abt it…

you are right abt the doc… i read where the doc had been tied to rezco… he had invested in rezco property or something…

  300. I hope that the campaign is working on backing this story up with more factoids. That would be a good tact right now. Hit them *after* the spin from Obambi, it could allow for us more ammunition by letting them respond.

  301. Tit-for-tat now on CNN. Cafferty (asshole) castigating HRC for talking about SD making their own decisions.

  302. This is sooooooooooo crazy. My God, the man lifted a speech and claimed it as his own. That’s used to be grounds for distrust.

  303. This reminds me of GWB’s DUI charge. It should have reflected badly on him, but his slimy spin machine made it sound like it’s Democrats’ fault to raise the issue. Wonder who are working for BHO. His people are dirty dirty dirty SOBs and thugs. I am so mad.

  304. “I am crying! We have worked so hard! I hope this campaign can withstand what is happening at this moment! I don’t want to discuss it on the blog but I am sick that there are people out there that are trying to take down OBAMA! “

Oh nooooo…this is the worst thing evvvvverrrrrrrrrr. 😥

  305. If this plagiarism doesn’t show the media’s obama bias, I don’t know what will short of NBC and GE endorsing him. They reacted totally different to Joe Biden. Ugh.

  306. Somoeone’s comment:

“If Obama is for change , then how come he can’t come up with a change in words, how come we have to keep hearing the same old words ,year after year”.

Exactly! How up with your own f*ing words already!

  307. I agree with the manufactured star angle discussed above…I said once before that maybe this whole thing with obama is just a reality show gone bad that Oprah’s producing. May have been more truth than poetry to that.

  308. are you trying to brag about supposed drug abuse so people will think you’re cool???

Are YOU trying to imply that I’m hoodwinking people? Bamboozling them? Trying to pull the old okie dokie?

  309. He also lied about his former drug use. I am 100% sure that’s a lie. Let’s see one person who knows him and knew him to do drugs. I’ll bet there arn’t any.

  310. This from the Texas Democratic Party (evidently, even they don’t know where all the polling precincts are)….

    Dear fellow Democrat,

I’m sure by now you can feel the excitement around our Democratic Primary here in Texas. As Senator Clinton and Senator Obama open offices, stage rallies, and meet voters, Texas Democrats are energized by the opportunity to choose between two outstanding candidates.

While the Primary isn’t until March 4th, Early Voting begins tomorrow in counties all across the Lone Star State. From tomorrow through February 29, you can cast your vote for your favorite Democratic candidate without having to wait for Election Day. Hours and locations vary from county to county-to find out where you can vote early, call your county’s elections administrator.

Voting Early is just like voting on Election Day, but it has a number of advantages. Voting early allows you to beat the Election Day rush, and it also provides a boost to your favorite candidate’s Get Out the Vote efforts–the more of a candidate’s supporters vote early, the more efficient their campaign can be on Election Day.

This election is tremendously important, and if you’ve made your choice, there’s no reason to wait to vote. Contact your county Elections Administrator, find out where you can vote early, and let your voice be heard.

  311. Yeah, I actually think the whole thing was manufactured to give him street cred with the youth vote. I’d bet my right leg on it.

  312. OH FUCKING HELL. Look what Obama is advertising about Wisconsin?:

“The Wisconsin primary is this Tuesday, February 19. Wisconsin offers same-day registration for new voters, and any registered voter can vote in the Democratic primary . Whether you’re a registered Democrat or a Republican”

  313. he did the drugs. a lot of people are closeted away til after the RezcoCometh and a few other interesting tidbits will be dropped.

mj..this dud is a total fraud, fake, phoney, liar, puffed up hot air balloon, empty suit.

He did not lie about the drugs.

I also am hearing there will other bombshells dropping regarding Mr. Larry Sinclair. Not isolated.

  314. New IT verb: let’s obama it

    if you want to search something online, you can google it;
if you want copy&paste something, you can obama it.

  315. CNN just announced that Hillary and Obama are tied in TX 50 -48
I think I will loose my mind over f…..g election

  316. Obama campaign is not doing as strong of a job with early voting. I’m sure this will be a format we take hands down.

  317. Sorry, I think he is too cleaver by half. I think he lied about the drug use. I’ve always thought that. He’s winning youth vote based on that.

  318. When should we expect Edwards, and Richardson to endorse??? do we think HC will get there endorsment?? Also has Boxer given her endorsment?

  319. LMao MJ. Obama???? CLEVER? LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
    HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Please…you’re talking about the “clever” guy who plagiarized the entire campaign on a Massachusetts governor right? lol! LMAO.

If anything, I would’ve believed Obama was honest about the crack, except that it probably lasted much longer than his purported few years.

  320. MJS
I think we should take it a bit more seriously. Once we will win then we can tell them to go and f themselves. not before

  321. We all know CNN is Obambi’s Mama’s favorite network……with all other polls showing double digit leads for Hillary in Texas, we now know why (if we didn’t already).

  322. It’s up. happybirthdaychelsea.blogspot.com/

“The Best Present is a Money Bomb”

Right now, Chelsea has put her life on hold to help her mother. On February 27th, the 28th anniversary of her birth, we can all spend a few moments and a few dollars to show her how much we appreciate her sharing her parents with us for the last three decades.

Bill and Hillary named their daughter after a Joni Mitchell song, “Chelsea Morning.” The song was inspired by Mitchell’s room in the Chelsea neighborhood in New York City where Chelsea now resides. A homemade mobile of colored glass hung in the room- the glass salvaged from windows from a demolished home for unwed mothers.

So in times like these when we have so many doing without, so many in need of help and not the empty borrowed lines of hope, think of all the people we can help when Hillary is 44. Donate $28.44 in honor of this grand young woman and her parents who have spent their lives raising her to be such a jewel and helping us be a better nation for one and all.

Enjoy the song and remember that with our help, our voices will be heard and Hillary is and will be 44.

    Donate $28.44 on February 27th, 2008.

  323. JAS
Richardson sadi yest that he is ain ahgreement that superdlegates whould be allocated to how the regular delegates will go. So I am not sure he will endorse her

  324. Look what Obama is advertising about Wisconsin?:
“The Wisconsin primary is this Tuesday, February 19. Wisconsin offers same-day registration for new voters, and any registered voter can vote in the Democratic primary . Whether you’re a registered Democrat or a Republican”

I hope the superdelegates are watching!

  325. Yeah, that’s right. It’ clever. I think his story is nothing but a million little pieces. I believe that completely. Sorry if you disagree, that’s what I think, which I would argue is far worse than it actualy being true.

  326. CNN has drunk the koolaid folks…they will do ANYTHING to get this guy in the whitehouse. What you want to bet CNN will not ask a damn question about his stolen speechs in the next debate. I hope Hillary finds a way to get it brought up.

Bister and CaffertyClueless are scum and their ratings prove it. I wish I was I knew a real witch..I’d order up some hexes.

  327. Evidently Obambi has robo-calls in Wisconsin..

The pitch hit three themes: Ending the war, passing “universal” health care, and fixing the economy.

I guess Obambi needs to go back and read the dictionary. Universal and Plagiarism would be good starting points.

  328. “He hasn’t been a senator for that long. But you know he’s coming in here, he’s doing it because he wants to, but also because he feels like he’s CHOSEN to do this. “

  329. Excuse me Filberts, the genei is already out of the bag. In addition, Medved is actually one of the decent talk show hosts and if the MSM doesn’t vet Bambi, I would take all of the help I can get.

  330. “This is bigger than Kennedy. . . . This is the New Testament.” | “I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don’t have that too often. No, seriously. It’s a dramatic event.”

    — Chris Matthews

  331. guys, don’t trust polls too much. Texas is a huge state. the polls mostly just took a sample of 5-10 people from each major district/area.

  332. LOL to Idunn at 4:15.

Also, I totally agree about the idea that he’s a manufactured candidate, and that needs to be pushed. The Repubs know that and will tear him to shreds.

Don’t worry about the TX polls. The race was going to get closer there.

  333. Okay, folks. I know this is a different day than Admin’s but the idea from y’all on doing C’s bday was too good to pass up. Send it far and wide. Cut and paste the text in e-mails, post it on sites and let admin know where it goes.

And leave warm bday wishes for our girl’s little girl. 😀

  334. This man has got to be stopped for the sake of this country. BBetween this crap and Michelle saying he is the ONLY ONE who can heal us…annd the threat that this is the ONLY CHANCE…..

OMG! Maybe this IS the Second Coming of Christ….

i think i am going to throw up.

  335. MJS,

Exactly. If you listened to polls and the media, 👿 was supposed to win Super Tuesday and Hillary was supposed to be out.

They need a story and they have all – apparently – drank the Kool-Aid.

  336. I think Hillary’s strategy from here on out should be to follow every one of his events and shoot down the entire facade that is his campaign. Let him do an event and she comes in immediately afterward and lets them hear real solutions vs. empty promises.

She’s the better candidate and Ohio especially is very doable for her. I see bambi is in Ohio right now…Hillary can sweep there in a few days and cancel him out.

Everyone who hears her follow him..they see who is the best. She needs to follow him state to state and state the obvious..he is a fraud and a vote for him is a empty vote full of holes for the next 4 years.

  337. where can I find infromation regarding how much money each campagine has on hand (how much for primary and how much for GE)?

  338. Geez louise…can’t I have one good day in here without someone waltzing in and dropping a turd?

Screw CNN and their bs polls! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

  339. B MErry…did you send that little tidbit about “We are the ones…” to media and the campaign? This needs to not be a “one time oversight” by BO and Axlerod, as I am sure you know well….

    www. b merryfieldmessiah. com LOL!

    fantasy link

  340. CNN takes indies into account, that is what screws their poll up. Not that many indies here, not sure which holes they are digging into for those, but they are very purposefully trying to make them count.

  341. kaffeen….re: robocalls in Wisconsin. I had a woman tell me yesterday I was the only person from a campaign she had spoken to because I was not a recording 🙂

that seems to make a difference

  342. I don’t buy the CNN or PPP polls, just like I didn’t buy the ARG poll with Hillary +9. All three are shotty polling organizations and didn’t release full cross section numbers. Only polling I give a little bit of trust to is Survey USA, they are usually close to dead on. We’ll see what happens tommorow, but there’s no way that Hillary is tied with Obama in Texas–simply none.

  343. I sent some of y’all the email for forwarding in an already set up format. Anyone else who wants it, please email me at okieatty@gmail.com .

I thought the video was a nice touch. There was a cool one with paintings but it had a nekkid guy and I didn’t want it reflecting badly on the campaign even though they have zero to do with this.

Good job, guys. Fantastic ideas. *mwah*

  344. Since the beginning of the country there has only been men as president. How can it be change to put another man in office? A woman will make for a real change in the oval office, a caring intelligence is what the country needs at this time, less big ego and less testosterone with more solutions. I know she’s going to be pres. because she’s the most honest and the most capable candidate.

  345. SpacegirlArt Says:

SpacegirlArt, you’re freaking me out now. Stop it. Only one messiah per presidential campaign.

OkieAtty, you can copy all you want. BHO wouldn’t look good in pink!

I posted the Alice Walker info in an update at obamasdeckofcards.blogspot.com

  346. A day earlier, Wolfson criticized Obama for backing away from a pledge to accept public funding if he is the Democratic nominee, saying Obama had engaged in a pattern of walking away from promises.

Monday, Wolfson said the two matters were related.

“If you ask voters to judge you on the basis of promises and you break them, or on the basis of rhetoric and you lift it, there’s not much else there,” he said.

The accusations momentarily put Obama on the defensive and distracted from a tour in Ohio where he hoped to focus on the economy.

  347. okay peeps… tweety’s leading with hillary’s comeback in wi, obama “borrowing” and the first video is bill yelling abt the abortion…

the video made bill look great, not crazy like some want to say…

  348. *If you ask voters to judge you on the basis of promises and you break them, or on the basis of rhetoric and you lift it, there’s not much else there. *

    Where’s the Beef?

  349. Someone always comes in and spoils things with a polls post. Then for the next 8 or so posts, we explain or dismiss it away. Enough with the polls. If it’s correct, then will find out on Mar 4th. There’s nothing we can do about it.

Reminds me of a famous quote”

“He uses statistics as a drunken man uses lamp-posts… for support rather than illumination.”

  350. my only complaint with Hillary’s own speechs is that she does not point out more often what SHE has done. What bills she gotten through in the Senate and how she has worked with Senators across the aisle. What she has done for firefighter and for veterans.

What she has ALREADY done..then tell what she wants to add to that.

I think she thinks people know her record a lot better than they do. I was amazed at the 100 reasons to support Hillary talking points…those are things she needs to point out.

She could also copy those and have them for handouts in her campaign canvassing. Those accomplisments are worthy to recognize.

  351. My reply to London Times Article by Lord Reese-Mogg a bloody Thacherite right of of the Court of King George circa 1775.

I see where Lord Reese Mogg is saying we do not want to return to the 1990s. Is this perchance the same Lord Reese Mogg of the London Times and BBC who co-authored a book called The Great Reckoning which predicted the imminent collapse of the American economy during that suplus producing decade. If so then I can understand why he at least does not want to go back and relive that embarrassent.

  352. hawk and others,

The line “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for” is from Alice Walker, who wrote “The Color Purple” among many other things.

Alice Palmer is the black ‘elder stateswoman’ that Obama had thrown off the ballot after she befriended him (leaving himself the ONLY name on the ballot). He probably stole lines from Palmer too, but I don’t know which.

  353. Oh, let’s see if he plagiarized Alice Palmer too. Aice Walker I like. I read the Color Purple in Highschool, and the movie stars ORCA! Yay. not.

  354. Hate to say one more thing about the polls, but when I was perusing SurveyUSA’s website, they have a graph from an independent agency that tracks polling agencies, PPP and CNN/ORP are in the bottom 10 of polling firms in the country, I think PPP is 30 out of 39 and CNN/ORP is near there as well. They’re worse than Zogby, let’s just put it that way. So i’m not concerned about these guys.

  355. so tweety thinks Hillary is making a comeback in Wisconsin.

If she wins Wisconsin folks, the phonebanking has been a huge success.

We can learn a lot tomorrow.

  356. @ronald: that is what wolfson’s saying abt obama’s plagiarizing

    p/s tweety’s playing deval’s video right now…. wolfson’s call now….

  359. pat robertson: “this is clear plagiarism” “this goes to character” “reporters will look at othe formulations”

f’ing tweety is trying to defend him and making it “nothing”… just a “distraction”!

  360. We have been telling the people that this is the
Eleventh Hour. Now you must go back and tell the
people that this is the Hour.

And there are things to be considered.
    Where are you living?
    What are you doing?
    What are your relationships?
Are you in the right relation?
    Where is your water?
    Know your garden.

It is time to speak your truth
    Create your community.
    Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for the leader.

This could be a good time!
There is a river flowing now very fast.
It is so great and swift that there are those who will
    be afraid.
They will try to hold onto the shore.
They will feel they are being torn apart and they will
    suffer greatly.
Know the river has its destination.
The elders say we must let go of the shore, and push
    off and into the river,
Keep our eyes open, and our head above the water.
See who is in there with you and Celebrate.

At this time in history, we are to take nothing
    personally.
    Least of all ourselves.
For the moment that we do,
Our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.
The time of the lone wolf is over, Gather yourselves!
Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary.
All that you do now must be done in a sacred manner
    And in celebration.

  361. Tiny dancer, try to track down Bambi’s “we are the ones we’ve been waiting for” speech. Let’s see how the two stack up.

  362. @hawk: Zbigniew Brzezinski is one of his foreign policy advisors, he was NSA for pes carter. mika from morning joe’s dad.

  363. I understand that the discovery of prozac made it possible for people with mental health issues to operate freely within society and to lead productive or semi productive lives. Matthews however is the exception.

  364. Change will not come if we wait for some other person or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. We are the hope of those boys who have so little, who’ve been told that they cannot have what they dream, that they cannot be what they imagine. Yes, they can.”

    Here’s part of Bambi’s speech.

  365. Just tuned in to Tweetie. The plagarism charges were issue #1. Buchanon says it hurts BO but is a ‘venial’ sin. The bigger problem for him might be with journalists who would be fired for doing what BO did.
He also stressed that the story was #1 on the Drudge report and had been for the past 10 hours.
Katrina whasshername said it was no big deal and it kept HRC off message. Tweetie cited a texas poll that showed HRC with only a 2 point lead over BO and they all got into how now Ohio was her firewall. (barf)
Tweetie actually closed the segment with this line.
“Tell Joe Biden words don’t matter.”

  366. LMAO….looks like he took the Hopi thing, mlk’s I have a dream , and builder bob and mashed ’em all together.

  367. B merryfield or Spacegirlart… or whomever,

I cant do this now, but a friend of mine who is professor at CMU in Pittsburgh used to check her students papers on google. She would cut and paste phrases and see what popped up. She caught many many students copying off the internet this way. The other faculty members were amazed.

Its time to google all of BO’s hope and change and crap. Find this man’s sources!

  368. the least I can do:

    Dear Senator Biden,

First, I want to say thank you for running for President of the United States. If your staff were to go back in the files from when you first announced, you will see that I was a very early supporter. You are a man of integrity and brilliance, and I believe you would have made a great leader for our nation.

But as you well know, the big media of the day has as much to do, or more, with public response to how well a candidate fares, and you sir, received short shrift. For that, I am sorry.

In the interest of full disclosure, I support now Senator Hillary Clinton.

That being said, I was somewhat worried when you started your campaign that the big media would try and drag out the old baggage from your earlier run regarding plagiarism, a deed that was perhaps an oversight on your part, and one you took responsibility for. It was brutal, and although it is fair to examine a candidates intent, and sometimes in the heat of things there are oversights, the media had no intention of giving you a pass.

That brings me to the point of this letter. Because of your experience in this arena, I am asking you to speak out about Senator Barack Obama’s “borrowing” of the words from the speeches of Governor Duval Patrick. The integrity that is required in the office of the Presidency is essential, and we have endured all too many years of obfuscations and lies under George W. Bush. We want no more.

I could forgive Mr. Obama if this were the only instance, but as I am sure you are becoming aware, many of Mr. Obama’s policy statements eerily resemble those of Senator Hillary Clinton’s, and are for the most part, introduced after heers are made public.

Were that not enough, the commanding line “We are the ones we have been waiting for” was not original either. Nor was it written by David Axlerod. I cite the information here: “New York West Area Bishop Violet Fisher … Her message, “We Are the Ones We Have Been Waiting For,” was an echo of two resources with the same name. It is the title of a song by Sweet Honey in the Rock, an African-American acapella group, and of a new release by Alice Walker, an African-American author.”

    http://www.umpublishing.com/resources/newsworthy/newsworthy.asp?news_id=14

It is disturbing that this is becoming a pattern in Mr. Obama’s candidacy that is being mostly ignored by big media. Although it may seem minor now, it begs the question as to what might become of the truth if Mr. Obama wins the Presidency.

I ask you sir, to speak out on this. We have a country to run, and smoke and mirrors and a lack of originality and responsibility is now old hat. We need a leader.

With utmost respect, and I would love to have an autographed picture, if that is possible. I think you are a great statesman, and I hope there is a place for you if we gain an administration with integrity, such as I believe Senator Clinton’s would be.

    With greatest respect,

  369. tiny dancer, Obama stole it frmo DEval Patrick, who stole it from Axelrod, who stole it from Bill.
Jesus, do these people have a single creative bone in their body? (I’m not counting Bill)

  370. johnflint1985

If you read the article on huffingtonpost, there were also precincts that reported Hillary had zero votes just as Obama had precincts that said he had no votes. They balance out they are not doing a recount just still trying to get the final official tally.

  371. spacegirl, you supported Biden? 🙂 I love biden! He was my second choice for this election 😀 and hopefully, the next vp 😉

  372. MJS, that was JUST before Hillary announced she might announce :)) It was a HARD decision for me, but had she not run, he was my guy

  373. I was just reading on mydd about Obamamaniacs. Oh boy! The stories I can tell you guys about his creepy supporters.

Edwards’ supporters are actually the most polite. Many are grassroot folks. Obama supporters – by far – are the meanest, rudest, most obnoxious, sophomoric bunch of assholes you can come across.

  374. See, Bob the Buider backed up his rhetoric with action. He fixed things! He got down in the trenches and worked with people to really make a change in his community! He rallied the youth around him and they carried him on for 9 seasons. Bob the Builder in 2008!

  375. Exactly. The plagiarism charge ended Biden’s campaign that year, and was brought up again every time he suggested he might run again.

  376. SpacegirlArt, you are my hero!

I am definitely giving Hillary a big kiss- OK maybe a big HI!- from you if I get to see her on Sunday.

  377. One other thing:

Tweetie ALSO said (in a calm tone of voice) in response to the charges that HRC is trying to change the Dem party rules by trying to seat the FL and MI delegates, that BO is also trying to change the rules that SD’s should vote their conscience.

    I almost . . . . fainted! 😀

    An objective, non-judgmental, journalistic response from . . . gulp . . . . tweetie??????

  378. Ronald, don’t kiss her for me, I am gay, and I don’t want to start another rumor about her being a lesbian 🙂

now, an autograph would be nice, on Oval Office Letterhead 😀

  379. I’m dismayed that people can poo poo this speech dealy. I get that they’re friends, that’s coolio with me, and if they had just been exchanging ideas that’s one thing, but it’s from a speech that Patrick gave, he already put those words out there as his message and now Obama is trying to imply that they’re his. Plus the fact that the whole campaign is crazy similar. And all the other lines that Obama supporters are fawning over that were taken here and there and everywhere.

I heard for days about the “we are the ones we’ve been waiting for” like it was some kind of profound statement that only Obama could make. BIte my shiny metal ass.

  380. YES!!!! TWEETY’S TALKING ABT THE FAKE FAINTERS!!!!! I F’NG LOVE IT!!!

CAN SOMEONE SAY HYPE??? AT LEAST FIVE TIMES!

Tiny Dancer, that’s the funniest thing I have read all day. Thanks for the laugh.

  383. by some chance have ratings born out to MSNBC that the ObamaLurveFest and the radical treatment of Hillary Clinton are not working.

    No other reason IMO

  384. Obambi sure is looking a little oily today….gasp….almost like a Chicago Politician. Oh wait, he *is* a Chicago Politician….the long proud lineage continues.

  385. Hawk: “obama-chip” .. love it.

I told you all that Nostradamus predicts AntiChrist comes from Africa.

  386. hawk, used to watched Olgerman every night. This is when he was really lambasting Bush on getting out of Iraq. His show has gone down drastically..his constant hitpieces on Hillary and his overall stupidness now have made him unwatchable.

Yes, I see why his ratings have tanked. He had a good thing going and I hear he is head honcho over there at MSNBC now. Their overall ratings have sunk even further and they are barely afloat. Wonder when MSN and NBC will decide to simply pull the plug. OH HAPPY DAY.

  387. Hawk,

The tweetie laugh was conspicuously absent. Up-thread someone posted about how even Mathews, as a former speech writer, would take the plagarism charges semi-seriously.

I turned off the tube after that segment coz I was afraid of over-exposure to obamabotulism.

No, McCain is about to be crowned the repug nominee…so the switch is begining to start on the Obama love from the MSM.

Tweety is a slug, but he’s a loyal slug for the RNC. John McCain is one of his heroes so don’t be surprised that the lovefest for Obama will be tampering off.

dot, I have heard that olbermann, their flagship show, has fallen way way down.

Really? Good! Is the concept of neutrality a foreign idea? I don’t want Olbermann to be for or against Hillary. Can’t we just have news organization that just delivers the news?

  390. hey all – remember this from this PAST Thursday…can anyone find Edwards’ full quote? looking on blogs and not finding it…

Was just reported that the Edward’s camp has accused Obama of “shamelessly plagiarizing” his economic plan. Whether he stole Edwards’ or Hillary’s, could this mean the Edwards endorsement is finally coming her way?

  391. Not gay, but Hillary has the ability to appeal to plethora of people. Asians, Hispanic, white-collar, blue-collar, gay and straight.

Obama is magnet for kooks and the unstable.

  392. I agree filbert. I went to a party on saturday night, and when we got there, the house had the main building connected with a smaller portion. We were told to come in the side door. There were two side doors. I knocked on one, it had a bambi sticker in the window, and this latte liberal girl answered and said who are you looking for? I was like, sorry wrong house. She fit the bill of a bambi supporter here in Iowa City. She was drinking coffee, she was by herself in her lil’ appartment, she was like 24ish, and since she had a bambi sticker, I assume not up on the issues like she should be.

  393. me four, gay (well in the range of…)…

anyway, I think if we were to all meet each other, we’d find we were exactly Hillary’s supportive demographics – lots of Latinos, Asians, gays, blue-collar, feminists, single women, women over 45! I went to a private phone banking party yesterday, and demographics were pretty on target.

  394. i dont fit the demographic, but i think it’d totally be fun to meet.

i’m 30 something, married, no kids, went to law school, was in pharma sales for 10 years, stay at home for the last year to build our house, i live in asheville, nc…

  395. But I want to be a gay man. Mainly because I love the boys, but also because I have no flair for fashion and decorating. 😉

  396. I’ve never been to a private phone banking party. Are they usually disciplined or is there more chatter than work?

I find that I’m more productive when I’m phone banking at home or at the HQ. Closed, private little parties is a formula for socializing, rather than serious calls.

  397. B Merryfield and Okie,

I am soooooo impressed with how accomplished you guys are!

Wonderful new blogs. Love the Chelsea-Bill pic. And love the name obamas deck of cards!

  398. ASheville is beautiful…and so gay! LOL!

Ronald, you CAN kiss her because you are a GAY man. That’s WHAT GAY MEN DO!!! LOL

  399. Actually I probably do not fit the typical Hillary supporter profile.

    I am a psuedo-buddhist, ex-hippie, software engineer, caffeine freak…..based on profile, I would probably be a Obambi-bot. Unfortunately for him, I have a brain.

  400. I find that I’m more productive when I’m phone banking at home or at the HQ.

HQ?? What, do you take your laptop and park yourself near the flooring department or something?

  401. @everyone… i cant find a thing for the campaign thats within 100 miles of me! it stinks!

btw…hardball totally focused more on bill’s role and behavior than he did on barry’s borrowing… lets see what tucker’s going to say… yep! he’s leading with it…

  402. I’m the woman over 45 demo. White. Married 34 years (and long ones at that LOL)

    Hubby supports Hillary fiercely.

I am infighting right now with my brother who says he is for Hillary but want to fawn on and on about how Obama is sweeping the stupid races right now. People who do not research this stuff don’t realize just how pidly his wins are…my sis in law, her daughters and my sister are all Hillary loyalists. I think my brother will secretly go Obama..

He also keeps just whispering to me: Masons .. he is one. I think he is trying to tell me something.

  403. Thanks, admin for the Obama (plagiarism) video. I skipped through a whole lot of messages to write this — so this point may have been made.
The bigger point here is that MA rejected Obama and the big reason is that they saw Patrick in Obama (before we all did) and Patrick is floundering and is not delivering any of the campaign promises — he has been viewed as a failure so far.

Don’t hesitate to sue the word plagiarism in your posts because that is what it is, word for word. I don’t think he gave any credit to Morrison either when he said “we are who we are waiting for..” Jake Tapper is right when he says that there is a presumption on the part of the audience that these speeches/words/ideas are original to the speaker — if they are not, where does that leave him?

  404. @kaffeen: did you got to uf?

@space: you know it! totally artsy, totally gay, totally cultural… we were ranked the #1 place to move a few weeks ago on 20/20 and a few other shows. ive been here from florida for 5 years. love it!

  405. I am a psuedo-buddhist, ex-hippie, software engineer, caffeine freak…..based on profile, I would probably be a Obambi-bot. Unfortunately for him, I have a brain.

Same here, Kaffeen. Bi-racial, Qabalist, ex-hippie, back to nature, caffeine freak. I’d be the perfect Obamaton if it weren’t for the fact that I’m bright and a simple liver. 😉

  406. Everyone should read this wonderful post by eriposte

    theleftcoaster.com/archives/011988.php

And I should probably get back to my work, yo.

    Peace out.

  407. have you seen her secret service detail? I think I will shake her hand.

and no I cant decorate and I aint all that fashionable. But, I do have a brain. I dont drink lattes, I drink black coffee, starbucks or better.

  408. without the pretty, pretty speech there is simply no substance. no experience. just false hope. Hillary called it right a long time ago.

  409. dot48
I can say the same about Air America. It became a free commercial for Obama. And what a nasty one. absolutely nothing real. Just dirt on Hillary and flowers on Obama.

and the uninformed. Why I’m so upset with the media is that TV is where the majority of African American get their information…it’s not the Internet, except with the youth. Blacks voted overwhelmingly for Obama because of all the white support he is getting from MSM.

MSM pushed, with the help of Obama supporters the racism charges on the Clintons but forget about Robert Johnson calling Obama: Sidney Poitier. Bob should have never apologized because that legitimized the phony racism charges from the media.

Do you think if the media was giving honest scrutiny and vetting and NOT being a cheerleader for the “anointed one” would you see the “Cult of Personality” winning so many states, which by the way were “gamed” by the DNC?

  411. My beloved Air America and Rachel Maddow. I haven’t listened to them in such a long time since they started going Obama on me.

I boycott things when I’m upset. I don’t write or call expressing my anger. I just stop listening. That’s just my passive-aggressive personality.

  412. @carby: he is a product of the media… the media ignored all of the other candidates, thats the only reason he is where he is… if the media wasnt a factor i think it would have come down to clinton v. edwards

  413. I made a comment a couple of days ago about how Obama’s media narrative is shifting from this super-hero cool figuer to a joke. The cult of personality, repeated fainting in his rallies, flip flopping on public financing all fed into this. The latest plagiarism scandal fits neatly into this theme. Everyone is going to be asking from now on when he gives one of his supposedly inspiring speeches did he come up with it on his own or did he copy it from somewhere. This question will be on everyone’s mind. His media and self-created status and undeserved larger-than-life persona is being cut down little by little. Late-night comedians will now get in to this plagiarism scandal and will have their fun about him.

  414. filbertsf Says: Was Obama known as an orator/charismatic person as a State Senator or was it his 2004 Convention speech that garnered him the reputation?

I think Axelrod has been managing him for a very long time. The Chicago Tribune had a good several-part profile, including his early days in Chicago.

  415. gawd…wouldnt that be awesome to meet in denver??? its soooo far for me though… anyone close to asheville?

  421. diva, orange juice, plenty of liquids, rest, try to eat something light but nourishing, tylenol for fever, aches and pains. Wait it out. If you get real conjested you can boil water and put a towel over your head and breath the steam .. or if you feel like it get in a hot shower.

Hubby has a lung gone and deals with lots of conjestion, viral pneumonia, bacterial infections etc which are treated a lot different than regular flu.

  422. Check this, the last sentence in Craig Crawford’s trail Mix article.

“He (BO) has so far made it to the brink of success in the Democratic race without specifics. Instead, his admiring crowds appear content to chant “Yes We Can” without bothering to finish the sentence.”

Hehehehe. We should send him some of BP’s responses to the fill-in-the-blank post.

  423. just how many ‘hometowns’ does this guy have. Is he now claiming rights to a place as hometown if he flies over it or something?

  424. WTF? The yahoo headline is “Clinton accuses Obama of plaigarism”. No Jake Tapper actually noted the plaigarism. Hillary just responded to it. Man, even when this guy plagairizes someone it’s Hill’s fault.

  425. Earlier today, Suzanne Malveau reported that Hawaii is tighter than people think, and that there has been a Clinton “surge”….

  426. Since we are doing Money Bomb of Hillary on 2/25 and then for Chelsea later in the week…I now wish we’d thought to send messages to Bill Clinton via Hillary’s website ..

  427. The latest headline on Drudge about MICHELLE OBAMA:

‘For the First Time in My Adult Lifetime, I Am Really Proud of My Country’

  428. From my lips to God’s ears…let us pull out wins in both Primaries tomorrow. I promise to not ask for anything else this week..seriously. well..other than a buyer for my house.

  429. NBC lead with the plagairism story. Of course they also showed Hillary saying a line in a speech that was her husbands.

ABC also had the plagairism story but had Gergan on saying calling it plagairism was over the top..sheesh!!

Of course, I didn’t hear either broadcast list the other instances where Obama had plagairised, just the Saturday night speech.

Both broadcasts showed the Deval Patrick speech and Obamas

  430. @tps: she’s f’d up. they are sooo arrogant! bc her hubby is running for prez and a buncha ppl drank the kool aid and are following him… now she’s proud??? oh well, i’m glad she can finally be proud. i’ll sleep tonite now.

  431. So Michelle Obamabotulism has never been proud of America???

This is one sick individual. Somebody get her a brain transplant stat.

If she fails to find one thing during her adult life time that America has done that she can be proud of…well, she has been living under a freakin rock.

And this is the woman who wants to represent us a First Lady.

I hope that headline gets sent over to PerezHilton and to every news outlet.

That woman is a freakshow, along with her silly hairdo.

Is it obvious I loathe this woman?

  432. Forgot to add…the news broadcasts showed the speech clips for a good length of time. The visuals and the audio together really made an impact.

  433. Michelle obama is an idiot, but I give her credit for having more brains than her husband…which is not saying much 😉

  434. Who the f*** does she think she is!!!!!!!!

I cannot stomach that woman. And the way she clings to BO during their joint appearances, touching and hugging and kissing and marking him . . . . it’s too disgusting.

Their daughters are very cute, though.

  435. How the heck is it not plaigarism? It’s not a line, it’s an entire passage. That speech actually had a name. It’s called “just words”.

  436. idunn: for real? i heard hrc say that, but … does it really work?

No, it really only works for colds. BUT, there are several herbs that are good for immune boosting during a bout of flu. Echinacea is the best of those, imo. Another thing that really does work great is a salt rub. Take regular old salt into the shower with you. Once your wet with fairly hot water, turn off the water and rub your body vigorously with salt. Rinse off with warm water, then cool. Dry off and get into very warm clothes or under blankets. Works great to increase circulation and help the body rid itself of germs, virus’ and toxins.

  437. divabunny, the mazing thing is here is a woman who is in her forties and she has never been proud of her country before? The first time she has been proud is when her husband runs for president. This is incredible. She wasn’t proud when the Berlin Wall came down? She wasn’t proud when the country ccame together after 9/11? When all the members of congress of both parties spontaneously sang the national anthem on the steps of the capitol? When we stood shoulder to shoulder with Melson Mandela for a free and democratic South Africa?

  438. Tucker just said that the ‘obama followers are more like a religion than a political movement’

@diva Tamiflu but you need to get the prescription and start taking within 48 hours of first symtoms.

  439. ABC World News played the “Just Words” videos from Patrick and Obama one after the other. Extremely damning. They then had Obama claiming Hillary was saying “Fired Up” just as he had done.

    OH PLEASE.

Who hasn’t said “Fired Up” during a campaign over the past 25 years ?

The MSM is DESPERATELY trying to downplay the plagiarism.

  440. maybe one of our own genius AA here could compile a list of things that AA people should be proud of in the “adult hood time” that Michelle Obama is speaking of.

I’m sure lots of issues for AA themselves have been taken on and passed. I’m sure lots of women issues have been taken on and passed. I’m sure lots of Childrens Health Issues have been taken on and passed.

I’m sure she should be proud of Bill Clinton’s Aides work in Africa…

She is so shallow. I rue the day should she be representing me as an American in First Lady duties. She is UNACCEPTABLE as is her husband.

You mean she can also not find anything BestFriendOrca has done that would make her proud of her country.

  441. maybe one of our own genius AA here could compile a list of things that AA people should be proud of in the “adult hood time” that Michelle Obama is speaking of.

I’m sure that I could, IF I knew what the hell she was talking about.

  442. WTF? She was deliberately spoofing on his “fired up” claim. This is not the same as taking an entire passage from someone’s speech and claiming it as your own. What the heck is going on here?

  443. LOL….someone just told me they saw me on the KXAN morning show Saturday (Hillary Campaign). Wish I’d have captured that video, well, maybe….lol

  444. Indeed Joe Friday. It’s getting extremely irritating. Just a heads up, I’m going to Hillary’s rally in Madison tonight.

  445. I hope this plagarism stuff fires up John Edwards and he endorses. I can’t believe he wouldn’t have something to say on all this since he was a victim of it too.

  446. This guy is such a phony….bleurgh!

Elizabeth Edwards: Obama Is a Copycat
By Mary Ann Akers | August 14, 2007; 6:11 PM ET

Aspiring first lady Elizabeth Edwards is accusing Sen. Barack Obama of lifting her husband’s best lines, in particular, the phrase “audacity of hope.”

In an interview with the Progressive magazine, Edwards says:

You listen to the language of what people say, particularly Obama, who seems to be using a lot of John’s 2004 language, which is maybe not surprising since one of his speechwriters was one of our speechwriters, his media guy was our media guy. These people know John’s mantra as well as anybody could know it. They’ve moved from ‘hope is on the way’ to ‘the audacity of hope.’ I’m constantly hearing things in a familiar tone.

Audacity of hope … It does have a nice ring. Does Edwards have the trademark on it to prove Obama is ripping him off?

Not if you ask the Obama camp, which had no formal response to Mrs. Edwards’s comment but pointed out Obama’s history with the phrase.

The junior senator from Illinois referenced “audacity of hope” in his 1995 memoir “Dreams From My Father.” The line, they said, was taken from a sermon preached by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright titled “The Audacity to Hope.”

Furthermore, as recounted in a Christian Science Monitor article last month, “Wright impressed Obama, and by 1988 the younger man found himself in the pews, listening to parishioners clap and cry out as Wright spoke of ‘the audacity of hope.”

As the Chicago Tribune wrote in January, Obama based his 2004 speech to the Democratic National Convention on Wright’s “Audacity to Hope” sermon.

One Democratic operative out there on the campaign trail, who requested and was granted anonymity, insisted, “There’s definitely a trend of Edwards leading and Obama following — both rhetorically and on the substance.”

Among the examples the Democrat cited was the much talked about moment at the Yearly Kos convention on August 4 when Edwards called on all the candidates in the Democratic field to “not take a dime” from lobbyists. That prompted Sen. Hillary Rodham to say “a lot” of lobbyists represent “real people.”

Edwards, moments later, asked for a show of hands from audience members who have a Washington lobbyist working for them. As you might imagine, only a tiny smattering of hands went up.

So how does Obama play into this? The very next day Obama asked an audience in Nevada, “How many people here have a federal lobbyist?,

Asked whether John Edwards shares his wife’s sentiment that Obama is a copycat, Edwards campaign spokesman Eric Schultz offered, “We’ve clearly been leading on the issues, and others are following. You’ve see that on health care, on energy, on closing unfair tax loopholes, and using funding authority to get our troops home from Iraq. John Edwards is shaping the Democratic agenda by proposing bold solutions and being honest about how to achieve them.”

  447. mj, it’ll impact Obama more b/c he’s been successful as a result of his fiery speeches. This is going straight at Obama’s golden goose.

  448. it’s not just a few lines. it is entire paragraphs of many, many speeches all welded together to make one message for him. There doesn’t seem to be an original line in it from him anywhere.

just how many ‘hometowns’ does this guy have. Is he now claiming rights to a place as hometown if he flies over it or something?

Dot, I have noticed that too…

    Chicago, Hawaii, Kenya, Indonesia.

That being said: Hillary…Chicago, Arkansas…Chapequa (sp) and THE WHITE HOUSE!

  450. It is amazing! Just yesterday we were discussing if this plagiarism story will get a wide play. Thw way it mushroomed this morning right before our eyes was simply amazing. It seems to have struck a raw emotional chord in a lot of people.

  451. All anyone needed to see were the FOX “All-Stars” just now scrambling to cover Obama’s ass” to confirm just how afraid they are of this controversy and of Hill, and just how much everything that was in that thecityeditiondotcom article is proceeding according to plan – except for things like this.

“My beloved Air America and Rachel Maddow.”

Maddow’s beyond hopeless, and after just listening to my favorite, Randi Rhodes, she too has undeniably been corrupted by the Obamatrons.

  452. you guys rock… thank you for all the rememdies

I do a salt rub once a week, Diva, and I never get sick. But then, I also open my windows for at least an hour every single morning…snow on the ground or not. 🙂

  453. yeah, but hasn’t Hillary actually DONE something while residing in these places???

He’s claiming squatters right IMO LOL

  454. I do believe Obama and Hillary have split the Democratic party. And I’m not sure that the rift will be healed in the GE. I know this from my own experience. I can’t bring myself to vote for Obama. For someone like me to say even think about voting for an indie Bloomberg or a McCain tells you how bitter this fight has become.

I don’t even relate to my fellow Dems who support Obama. As to the DNC, all I could say is f*ck’em. In early January when everyone (even the left blogosphere) was slamming the DNC, Pelosi and Reid, I defended them.

  455. Yes, TPS, but why are they blaming Hillary for it? He’s the phoney. He’s the one running around saying he’s not “poll driven”.

  456. Ok Drudge is hitting it to Bambi’s campaign today. He is leading with huge, black letters a quote by Michelle Obama, ‘For the first time in my life, I’m really proud of my country’

Michelle Obama today said that “for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction.”

Really proud of her country for the first time? Michelle Obama is 44 years old. She has been an adult since 1982. Can it really be there has not been a moment during that time when she felt proud of her country? Forget matters like the victory in the Cold War; how about only things that have made liberals proud — all the accomplishments of inclusion? How about the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1991? Or Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s elevation to the Supreme Court? Or Carol Moseley Braun’s election to the Senate in 1998? How about the merely humanitarian, like this country’s startling generosity to the victims of the tsunami? I’m sure commenters can think of hundreds more landmarks of this sort. Didn’t she even get a twinge from, say, the Olympics?

Mrs. Obama was speaking at a campaign rally, so it is easy to assume she was merely indulging in hyperbole. Even so, it is very revealing.

It suggests, first, that the pseudo-messianic nature of the Obama candidacy is very much a part of the way the Obamas themselves are feeling about it these days. If they don’t get a hold of themselves, the family vanity is going to swell up to the size of Phileas Fogg’s hot-air balloon and send the two of them soaring to heights of self-congratulatory solipsism that we’ve never seen before.

Second, it suggests the Obama campaign really does have its roots in New Class leftism, according to which patriotism is not only the last refuge of a scoundrel, but the first refuge as well — that America is not fundamentally good but flawed, but rather fundamentally flawed and only occasionally good. There’s something for John McCain to work with here.

And third, that Michelle Obama — from the middle-class South Shore neighborhood of Chicago, Princeton 85, Harvard Law 88, associate at Sidley and Austin, and eventually a high-ranking official at the University of Chicago — may not be proud of her country, but her life, like her husband’s, gives me every reason to be even prouder of the United States.

  457. Hehe, Matthews open,
“Hillary echoes Bill, Barack echoes his friend” (or words to that effect).

Told you all he’d go toPres on “attacking” Obama supporters.

  458. I’d never vote for him. I will not be one of those that he bragged would run to him if he beat Hillary. No way in heLL.

  460. so big media tried to turn this to a clinton bash.

actually, john mccain brought it up last week. he said that obama’s economic plan was blatant plageurism of Hillary’s plan. Did nobody bring that up?

  461. @idunn: good advice, i will def try that… i start with a new nutritionist at the end of the month… hoping she can get me back to “normal”…

ugh… two of my least fave ppl on hardball… andrea and howard have really bought into the BS! (esp andrea)

  462. Yes we can…..plagiarize.
Yes we can…..press the wrong button.
Yes we can…..get presents from convicted felons.
Yes we can…..fill your ears with hallmark bromides and zero substance.
    Yes we can…..bamboozle you.

  463. Ummm…guess Michelle isn’t proud of the way our country responded to 9-11 either, huh?

    Like I said….uppity bitch.

  464. Andrea Mitchell hates Hillary Clinton.

Does anyone see a pattern with a lot of women in media and in politics? They are so jealous of Hillary Clinton that it has seriously clouded their judgement. Andrea Mitchell speaks in a very slurrish way towards Hillary at all times. The whole MSNBC team will have to be treated for Obamabotulism at some time in the near future.

  465. omg! theyre saying that hillary borrowed a quote from bill that he got from … (ready for this)… THE BIBLE!

that is completely diff than taking a quote from THE BIBLE!!! not even CLOSE!!!

theyre completely downplaying it… andrea calling it petty…

  466. Local news in Eau Claire WI focused tonight on Hillary being late for an appearance there. Her plane is stuck somewhere waiting to be de-iced. She personally called the local Democratic leader there to apologize for the delay. The news also showed the Public Policy poll. Good…maybe it will keep Obama people from showing up at the polls tomorrow as they will be convinced he’s going to win…

  467. Dobbs (CNN) is taking Michelle Obama to task for her comments. LMAO…..now the question of the day “Do you believe Obambi “borrowed”…..” Go vote on this one 🙂

  468. Sigh. If anyone out there in BM can tell the difference, this FL issue isn’t a ‘rule’ it’s a ‘ruling’. The Florida GOP legislature set the primary date to get the FL Dem party in trouble. Donna Brazile (an Obama supporter) ‘ruled’ that Florida hadn’t tried hard enough to fight the FL legislature. Even the Feb 5 date for primaries commencing may not be a solid long-term ‘rule’ of the DNC, but just a date set for this year. In any case, several other states were given exceptions.

The ‘rule’ about superdelegates being free to vote their best judgement — is the purpose of having superdelegates in the first place.

For one thing, they’re tie-breakers. If they had to vote with the ‘popular vote’, then we’d have recount lawsuits over every hanging chad. For another, they can look into things like Obama’s “Dem for a Day” (he’s advertising again in WI for Republicans to come over!), his empty delegates from unwinnable red states, etc.

The supers couldn’t reverse a clear decision in the delegate count. A really clear delegate count could win without any supers at all. The only power the supers have is in a close contest, like this one — to break a tie, and reverse abuse like Obama’s.

  469. Hahahaha! From the bible? This is so unbelievable. What the heck is going on? The story is Obama ripping of an antire passage from an Obama speech. Do these fools ever think it may be that Bill had heard Hillary quote that line from the bible?

  470. they cannot wrap their infected brain around this. it is not about quotes..it is about whole speechs and whole platforms.

why did we even hope the media would get on this. It’s useless to try to get them to be fair.

I wish John Edwards or Joe Biden would step up and speak about this stuff…but of course they have to remain neutral while this shite swirls around.

  471. Dear Julian

Howard Dean writes back to the charman of the NAACP, who had written him to worry about counting Florida’s votes. Dean vaguely defends the system as it stands and says…very little.

While it seems that this election season has already been the longest in history, 18 states have yet to hold their primary elections and over 1,000 pledged delegates have yet to be selected. Put another way; some 33 percent of voters have yet to have their voices heard. I look forward to hearing what they have to say.

In other words: Stall, and hope this th
