Nexus Of Nuts

Yesterday we wrote a very short advertisement for Al Gore’s Live Earth called Clinton/Gore. We noted that many of the Al Gore haters from 2000, Naderites, PINOs (Progressives In Name Only), Big Media, and Big Blogs, are now busy turning their untrue and twisted arguments against Hillary Clinton.

Today, our assertions from yesterday are vividly illustrated in an article from the heart of Texas. Expect the Nexus of Nuts to grab hold of that article like a drowning man grabs hold of air.

The Dallas Morning News published a story today by Melinda Henneberger. Contrary to all polling and all common sense which empirically demonstrates the strong support Hillary enjoys with women voters, Henneberger declares women do not like Hillary and will not vote for her. Henneberger begins her article by circulating, under the guise of distancing herself, personal insults about Hillary. Then comes the nonsense full bore:

Yet in interviews across the country with women of all ages, races, income brackets and points of view, one of the rare patches of common ground was skepticism about the first female presidential contender with a serious shot at the White House. Over 18 months, I traveled to 20 states listening to women speak at length about what they care about and what drives them crazy as they look toward the presidential election in ’08. I ought to like her, many of the strongest Democrats among them said. But on no other matter did left, right and center converge as on the view best summed up as “Anybody but Hillary’ – to the point that I began to dread the mention of her name, because it meant we would probably not get around to talking about anything else that day.

All of which runs contrary to the accepted narrative of this election cycle, which is that it is women who are leading the charge for Mrs. Clinton’s candidacy. Polling, which at this point still mainly measures name ID, certainly shows a far more mixed picture for Mrs. Clinton where female voters are concerned; 51 percent of those who participated in a recent Washington Post-ABC News survey said they support her for the Democratic nomination.

Hillary, according to the Washington Post poll Henneberger distorts, enjoys a 2-1 margin of support from women. “Her 15-point lead in the polls is entirely attributable to that margin.”

Forget the polls, Henneberger, who writes for the Obama Huffington Post has determined that women do not support Hillary.

Who is this Henneberger?

For a full history of Henneberger and her PINO works we suggest a visit to the Daily Howler archives. [Try Here, and Here, and Here for a glimpse into her twisted writings. Henneberger lied extensively about Al Gore in 2000. She is back to her old tricks. DailyHowler is the authoritative source for Henneberger’s rosary of lies. We will only provide a brief overview of Henneberger’s published distortions.

First of all, Henneberger wrote a PINO book (If They Only Listened to Us: What Women Voters Want Politicians to Hear) which in essence puts her own narrow views and words in the mouths of all women. Henneberger cannot be bothered with scientific analysis nor polling data. Henneberger knows best.

Henneberger’s other recent work of note was an Op-ed piece in the New York Times called Why Pro-Choice Is A Bad Choice For Democrats. The title sums up Henneberger’s obsessions. Good thing Democrats do not listen to Henneberger’s drivel. In 2006 Democrat Claire McCaskill of Missouri defeated Ripublican Jim Talent with her pro-choice message, Montana’s Democratic nominee Tester defeated Ripublican Burns, also with a pro-choice position, as did Virginia’s Democratic Jim Webb defeating Ripublican George Allen with a pro-choice message. Democrats must stick with the Clinton position of “safe, legal, and rare.”

Another article encapsulates Henneberger’s reactionary worldview and includes an all too brief moment of inadvertent self-awareness: “But whatever the truth of Schiavo’s wishes—or of her husband’s motivations—I admire Florida Gov. Jeb Bush for initially ordering the stay of execution that her family had begged for…The only consistency we get from our two major political parties, however, is in the hypocrisy of their positions. (Do I sound like a Catholic Ralph Nader here? I hope not.)”

Henneberger also recently wrote in Huffington Post about the Selma speeches by Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Guess what, Hillary lost, Obama won according to Henneberger (forget the polls here too — they favored Hillary). Oh, and the African-Americans who went to hear Hillary, well, they only went to see Bill. (Henneberger has a lot of self-esteem problems.)

Henneberger loves Cindy McCain though who can do no wrong. (“Cindy McCain Basks in a New Political Role” ).

In February Henneberger (again for the shameless Huffington Post) wrote Geffen’s Hillary Criticism Is ‘Nothing I Haven’t Heard From Women Voters Across America’ Once again Henneberger recycled the detrius she calls a book (using the exact same language “After a while, I came to dread the mention of her name, because it usually meant I would hear no more on any other topic that day.”)

All I can tell you is, everything he told Maureen Dowd last week – about his own feeling that Hillary Clinton is just too polarizing, and poll-tested out the ying-yang – is nothing I hadn’t heard over and over in 18 months worth of interviews with women voters across the political spectrum, in 20 states from Massachusetts to Arizona and Oregon to Louisiana.

The unthinking love Henneberger and the PINOs among us will use it to dupe Democrats. The Chris “Imus” Matthews, the Big Blogs, the Naderites, PINOs (Progressives In Name Only), the Arrianas and Big Media will do their utmost to warp the 2008 elections to their agendas using articles written by writers like Henneberger. This Nexus of Nuts, will attempt to do as much damage to our elections and our candidates as they possibly can.

The Nexus of Nuts has begun their assault. Will Democrats and the true Netroots fight back this time?

  1. Yes, we are ready. Actually a notorious race baiter and Obama supporter ‘bluediamond’ has already copied this anti-Hillary article to mydd. Maybe someone should link this article to mydd to discredit this PINO.

    Keep up the terrific job.

  2. i saw it on mydd too and responded to it. more evidence these guys are phonies. let’s not let them get away with it. thanx hillaryis44 for exposing these low lifes of what they are. GO HILLARY GO!!!!

  3. The problem with articles like Hennenbergers is they begin with a personal bias, disregard proper survey methodology, reach an erroneous conclusion, and are placed in the ether zone, where they can be used by partisans to mislead the public. The only antecdote for this is the truth, and I am glad to see that you are taking steps to see that it gets out. Not for nothing is there a mathematics of statistics. Not for nothing is there such a thing as sound polling methology. The people of this country deserve better. Keep up the good work. Go Hillary.

  4. The Nexus of Nuts was not always thus. It has taken an unfortunate turn in the last year and went over the deep end. That said, it is most certainly Cloud Cuckooland on the Internet.

  5. Also, Hillary wasn’t an announced candidate for president 18 months ago, so some of those “interviews” are probably outdated anyway. Heck, 18 months ago I wasn’t sure I wanted her to run, though I always liked her. Now I’m behind her 100 percent.

  6. Well done Paula – that is exactly what I wanted to say about this 18 month trip this silly woman had where she went around talking to god knows whom. I thought this was so ridiculous of an article. No sources nothing! As far as I am concerned for all Hillary supported for now – all efforts must be focused on democrat and liberal media. One at a time. Find out the attack on Hillary from liberal media and expose them and keep up the pressure. Once she wins the nomination – then we can take on the “Vast ring-wing” as Hillary calls it! Go Hillary 08!!!!

  7. Pinos…oh thats great! I havent written this in a week, but you guys are my new heroes. I will be thinking this every day, even if I dont write it! These fakers, pretenders and frauds cost us the White House in 2000 and are now spoken about on DailyKooks and MyDud (thanks again to Hillis44 for their creative word ways…) and most horribly, in the political media as our Party’s “base”…what a joke! The HuffPo, which is the new bulletin board for both the real and the wacko of the lefty-liberal-progressive brogosphere has developed a very disturbing anti Hillary bias that has to be confronted. If in these early days of election 2008 we allow these people to use right wing scripted lines to go unanswered(Robert Gibbs and team Obama has already TWICE accused the Clinton White House of SELLING the Lincoln Bedroom!), we will have a very tough time putting that horse back in the stable.

Remember, it was these people (these Pinos) who in 2000 who first used the word “LIAR” against Al Gore (Team Bradley) and then immediately the GOP realized that now that word and charge was in play and could be used against Gore and Democrats in general. We must realize that this danger confronts us again and fight back against it. (and hence we have Bush Jr. in the White House) Hillis44 is leading this charge and I thank them with all my heart and soul (I do) and wish everyone would spread this site to all thinking Democrats everywhere. Its too important not to…

  8. hey guys what about daily dos of crap or mybs? the groundswell of love and support is turning up for hillary on mydd. the pro-hillary comments and diaries are jumpin there despite getting attacked by the responses of the haters. daily kos is another story. they are out there like pluto. THEY ARE GONE MAN!!!! GO HILLARY GO!!!

  9. Daily Kos used to be something, but every progressive in the country who lacked consistent nurturing as a child decided she or he had a platform there. Becoming irrelevant to the political debate is not an excellent strategy for survival.

  10. Terrondt,
Thanks for the news. I am glad there is growing support for Hillary on mybs. Good isn’t it? Her haters are rather relentless in attacking her. Down with them! As Hillary says in the Sopranos spoof – “Let’s focus on the good time”
    Go Hillary!!!!

  11. Thank you for this post.

You are spot on about Henneberger and Huffington. I did my own research on Huffington. Not only is she a PINO, just two years ago she was donating to Republicans. Now, all of a sudden she’s God’s gift to “Progressives”. What kills me is that “Progressive” engage her on blog. Huffington is a hypocrite that married California Representative (Michael Huffington), who took on Feinstien for the Senate, used 1/3 of his fortune (approximately 33 million) and lost. Then used the loss to come out the closet as Gay man struggling to be normal. He files for divorce and Huffington takes him to the cleaners for many millions of dollars. Thus the Huffington Post was created. And Huffington has the nerve to disparge saint Hillary. What a joke? I love it how when Huffington attacks Hillary on her blog, and pro-Hillary people, like myself respond (blog name lonnette33), she doesn’t post your comments. She’s a Republican posing as a Democrat.

  12. i dont have the link but good news from gallup. 37% for hillary and 21% for obama(nationally). so much for the fundraising bounce the nutroots been counting on. can any body tell my how to link pretty please. GO HILLARY GO!!!!

  13. You have to include Bill “There is no healthcare crisis” Kristol in the Nexus. ‘Dan Quayle’s Brain’ endorsed Obama for the Dem nomination on Fox News yesterday. Arch neocon Kristol knows Obama would be a weakling in the White House. And he knows that Clinton 44 is going to wipe out the Radical Right once and for all.

Kristol is linked with Bob Kagan, the nut who wants to colonize Iraq. Kristol, Kos & Kagan – sounds like a law firm. How much money did Kristol channel to Obama?

  14. Melinda Henneberger is a whack job. I saw her at Barnes and Noble several months ago. Alkthough she claims to be democrat she repeats the rightwing talking points.
She was selling a book based on her interviews that she had around the country with women. However they all support her rightwing point of view. According to her women are opposed to abortion rights. She also claimed that she visited a homeless shelter where the women blamed Bill Clinton for cutting off their welfare because of the bill he signed in 1996. I found that mindboggling. There is no question that this woman lies and distorts the truth in order to support her point of view.

  15. Canaan. You are correct. Right Wing Republicans are bullys and like every bully they prefer to go up against a guy who is looking to get along rather than someone who will fight back when attacked. Obama can be proud to have their endorsement, and some of his far left supporters may want to think about who they are getting in bed with. Neocons know that there will be no room for Dr. Strangelove in a Clinton Administration, ergo they will be out of power. Hillary will turn instead to people with prudential wisdom like Madeline Albright who will get our country back on track in foreign affairs, and repair the damage they have inflicted.
